I have a Sharp xr-30x 85hz projector which works great for 3d stereo (no flickers in dark room). I have a 7950GT on XP for playing 3d games with the old stereo driver and I have a 8800gt on vista. For connectivity, there is no difference between this dlp projector and a CRT at 85hz. Is there a way to make the new 3d stereo driver works at 85hz? Is it possible to bypass the compatibility check?
I won't change my projector for a new 3d ready hdtv if I know I can do 3d with shutter glass. After all, a 100'' 3d screen beats everything.

I have a very similar setup to you and have also been trying to find out if my 85Hz DLP projector will work. I've just found a thread on the MTBS forum in which somebody has got the new nVidia glasses working fine on an 85Hz CRT so hopefully they'll be okay on a projector too:
The only other concern I have is that with my previous setup (e-dimensional glasses with nVidia 3d drivers) I sometimes had to resync the glasses via the e-dimensional activator software several times before launching a game to get the page flipping the right way round (as projectors can be delayed by a frame). I don't know if the nVidia glasses have a similar facility or not, but hopefully this won't be an issue.
Cheers,
DD

I don't have the 3d vision glasses "yet" but I downloaded the driver and the setup wizard did not detect any compatible monitor. Maybe this can be bypassed eventually. There is not much people around that use standard dlp projector for 3d stereo; they don't know how fun Fsx and GTR are on a 100'' screen for less than 600$ (it's also a big hdtv at the same time :P). Cars are so big, it makes all the difference.
I also had that kind of problems with the delayed frame, so I installed a small switch on the edimensionnal glasses to reverse the signal on the fly.
It's disappointing that older hardware for 3d stereo is not supported anymore. The technology is still the same, but with newer drivers for newer games. DLP projector are great for 3d stereo and there is almost no flickers at 85 hz. I will definitly stay with my 7950gt for a while. /wave.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

I also have been using the sharp 85Hz DLP projector for a long time. Using a computer with XP and 7950 GT.. Could there be any other way to truly enjoy 3D stereo than with a projected image on the wall? I doubt it. Once you try it, a tiny monitor just wont do..
It seems that just a few months ago (last time I visited this forum) the situation was completely different. Unbelievable that Nvidia--after all this time totally neglecting stereo 3D users, finally did something about it (Im sure money has a lot to do with it). There's even an Nvidia rep in this forum! Man, have things changed around here! I remember the countless posts where we all complained about lack of support, and the only thing we received from Nvidia was complete silence..
Anyway, it looks like its time to get back to 3D gaming. I just hope we can still use our DLP projectors, and 7950s and E-D shutterglasses we bought specifically for 3D stereo. Or is Nvidia forcing us to buy their new gear? Maybe support here will only last for as long as the marketing campaign for the 3D vision bundle? When you look at what went on the previous years, its only logical to assume this.. Lets hope not though...

I have the new glasses and 3d vision works great with 3 optoma EP739 & THTG . Single dlp @ 85hz very good pop out. no flicker for me. At 75 hz with the 3 DLPs going the flicker is there but Very playable for me . The only problem I have is with FSX and the matrox I get a huge frame rate hit, all other games i use are great.
So dont be afraid to get the 3d vision kit for the Projectors cause its very GOOD!
Just you have to switch to Vista or wait till the fall for Windows 7,which I tried and like it.

Hi Could you go a little further into explaining how to set up the DLP projector? I have a Mitsubishi XD2000U DLP projector but I haven't been able to get the 3D stereo going, I can see it is fliping but it is not synchronized with the 3D vision glasses. Of course I don't have the Vesa cable connected to the DLP projector, and I have the stereo configurtion as if it was a CRT monitor. Any ideas? is there a trick I am missing?

It could be your DLP is not 3d compatible. I have my Optomas connected single or to the Matrox THTG with a VGA -DVI and stereo driver set to crt and no problems except the glasses have to be worn upsidedown otherwise there is no depth .

I own 3d vision and a 3d Ready Samsung HDTV. When going through the setup wizard, it DOES NOT DETECT my monitor/tv however, it works fine no problem when you go through the wizard and test the setup. Hope this helps /thumbup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
