I was wondering if anyone here is using two monitors for their gaming needs - one for 3D gaming and another for everything else. I am currently using a VG278H monitor and it's fantastic for 3D gaming. But since 3D gaming is only living on from the community the vast majority of games will have to be played in 2D and I want to use another monitor, possibly IPS with a 1440p resolution for that.
Does anyone currently have something like this set-up for their system? I was looking for the less painful way to do this, like not having to unconnect adaptor cables from one video card. I was hoping to connect the dual-DVI of the VG278H to my video cards (2x980 GTX) and use the display port outputs of my video cards for the other monitor.

Yeah, you can do this. I had a setup like this a little while back.
However, you may need to switch which one is the primary monitor before you start gaming, but I don't believe it necessary to unplug any cables.
