Dated Graphic Cards Will I be able to run 3D vision
Hi guys and girls

I am looking forward to being the owner of a 24" Acer 3D monitor with the 3D kit but I am slightly worried about games running on my PC.

My system is

Core i7 920 @ 3.6 GHz
6GB DDR 3 RAM
8800 ULTRAS (Factory Overclocked) in SLi

Now I am planning on upgrade the Ultras to Fermis but damn NVidia are pissing about (I would of got myself an ATi if it wasnt for Damn 3D vision) but until then do you think I will able to run games at an alright level. Now it litterally runs most games at 70-80FPS on there top settings (Not Crysis of course) and there ares still powerful cards but I know that 3D tends to half the frame rate. If I play with no AA should I be alright ?

Seeing as you don't enable aa, you should be able to play most games. You just might have to turn down a few settings. You won't know until you try. In saying that none of use currently have 24" 3D Vision monitors, so we won't now how our Hardware fares until we upgrade. Maybe a fair amount of our systems won't be powerful enough for 1920x1080 3D.

Thanks for the fast and reassuring responce. I have always played at 1080P and no game (Not even GTA4) has been a massive problem for me as most games today are very concolised :D I sometimes use AA and sometimes don't. Its only if I notice jaggies do I turn it on. If going by losing half the frames then I should be alright, 40FPS doesn't bother me at all :)

Just wishing that a single fermi is 8X the proformance of an Ultra :D

I got basically the same system as you (e8400 overclocked to 4 ghz, 2 8800 ultras overclocked to 650/1100) and almost everything is perfectly playable in 3d with FSAA and aniso turned on. I usually use 4x msaa and 16x aniso.

However, I run at 1280x720 on a CRT. Your performance... it's gonna hurt a little. I'm guessing around 30-50 fps most cases in modern games.

Thanks for the help. Well If I turn off MSAA and have low Aniso then I should be fine in 1080p

if u were using the Sammy I would say your okay but as it's been said nobody on these boards have tried the 3d vision in 1080p so I'm curious to see what kind of performance hit the higher res will be. Please keep us posted on your findings.

It'll be the same as running 3840x2160 resolution.

This is to say one thing, and one thing only - it will be VERY HARD on the framerate.

That's why everyone crying and moaning about "only" 1680x1050 res should cool it, in my opinion. We're gonna need SLI fermi cards for playable framerates in modern games in 3d.
