Rise of the Tomb Raider (3D Vision Ready Support)
  27 / 41
helifax, thank you for your efforts. I just found this thread and I'm looking forward to your fix. I run a 980ti with 3d Surround (3 ASUS VG236HE monitors). I wanted to ask you something, since you also have 3d Surround. I just got the Gigabyte G1 980ti as an upgrade to my GTX690. I had to buy a 3d Club CAC-1051 active adapter for the 3rd DVI port. I noticed it flashes off and on randomly. Also, it tends to have issues going into a 3d game, turning off after a minute or so. My fix is to alt-tab out of the game and alt-tab back in. Then, after I leave the game, it turns off again, so my fix is to change the display to 60hz then back to 120hz. This is really annoying, so I bought the Accell B087B-007B active adapter to see if it would do any better. It has the same problem. I'm still in my 30 day Amazon return window on the 3d Club adapter. Have you seen this problem / know how to fix it? I'm going to return one of them (likely the 3d club one since it was $20 more), but now that I know it's not the brand of device I don't know if I'm stuck with this kind of fiddly performance for the lifetime of my monitors (which I had hoped would be several more years).

I appreciate you looking into Purehair. On my single screen SLI setup the performance hit is modest enough to live with, and I rather like the look. Would you say it's unplayably glitchy, or "good enough" if the framerate is okay? Given the choice between hair and 3D though, I'd definitely take 3D.
without the purehair the game does sucks...
You can't be serious...You are saying that you spend more time leering at Lara's hairs than actually playing the game? 30 000 shaders fixed during many weeks by a volunteer and you are focusing on the only (optional!) one which doesn't work properly? You don't even realize that, by saying something like this, you are saying to Helifax (and other fixers): "thanks guys but your work is useless!". This is an insult to all shaderhackers, and to all users here who are supporting these guys. Tomb Raider is not a hair simulation you know, it's about adventures and exploration. If you don't like this game, if it "does sucks", why making request on this topic? You seem surprised to be called a troll, but what is it then? And FYI, even with Purehair desactivated, Lara won't be hairless...

@Kershek: I have the Accel adapter and while the emitter flashes quite a few times and starting a 3D app once it starts working I don't lose the sync or have any other problems. It just likes to flash 2-3 times until it actually "stabilizes" and 3D starts. I don't know if you tried it or not, but be sure to disable USB Power Savings (or what is called) under Windows. This will prevent Windows to CUT power to the USB ports and thus making the adapter generate the flashes. Hope this helps;)
And FYI, even with Purehair desactivated, Lara won't be hairless...
HAHAHA, that really made me laugh. As a matter of fact I did see Lara bold more than once while I was looking for the shaders for PureHair:)) Maybe I should add a toggle for it :)))))))
I appreciate you looking into Purehair. But if the game runs, it wiggles and shakes strangely. I also noticed a "band" across the screen that distorts the image, that seems related with the physx simulation of the hair. In non-SLI seems to work better. In SLI (with alternative profile) is definitely and visibly worse. While I can understand why people want it, I don't know how and if we can solve it. Maybe DarkStarSword can help us here?

People that take things literally when they read might not understand. My intention was not to say the whole thing is crap, but this is definitely an effect that makes a difference in my opinion. You see Lara the entire time on your screen. The last thing you want is to have a 3D model that looks old generation, this is the "charm" of this game. It is the cherry on top of the cake!

@J0hnnieW4lker No problem but please think before posting, our fixers read this discussion, you would not want to disgust them with unwarranted comments. @helifax Could we hope for a fix without Purehair first, and then maybe an update after you find a solution to fix it correctly? Actually many guys can play the game without badass hair effects (even if it would be the cherry on the cake indeed)...

Our western 3D Vision Community want to say big thanks for fixing that game. But we got the problem that english isnt our mother tongue and fixing is sometimes getting very complicated. I tried to followe the instructions in the TR Fixing thread, but couldnt find the button for downloading this .xml File on the github page for example. And the next hurdle is that thing with stereo flag and so on. Please dont get me wrong and that shouldnt be an complainment, but its getting harder and harder to understand and translate these steps. Maybe an video tutorial could help a lot, but I understand if this is to much work for you beside fixing that stuff. Greetings Ron

Good to know, thanks. Shame it's worse in SLI, I doubt it'll be playable on a single card. I'd definitely appreciate it if yourself or DarkStarSword were able to resolve it, but if not I'm still really grateful that you've been able to pull this off. Sounds like a hell of a lot of work, and a real team effort. :)

@ronrebell: Big thanks for the feedback ! I keep forgetting that not everyone who reads this is familiar with the tools of the trade;) I wonder if just attaching a NIP profile to import with Nvidia Inspector, would it be easier? (Although everyone here should use the XML file from DarkStarSword especially when dealing with 3D Vision ^_^ and is very good for future use;)). @chtiblue: Thanks! That is actually a good hint and I can update the post with that one!

I can make a few tutorials showing how to modify the profile in both ways (using Nvidia Inspector & 3D Profile Manager) later this evening.

A way to get the xml file from the github link (but obviously the "Save as" trick is simplier): - go there: https://github.com/DarkStarSword/3d-fixes/blob/master/CustomSettingNames_en-EN.xml - click on "RAW" - copy everything from this page (ctrl+A / ctrl+C) - create a new text file on your desktop and name it CustomSettingNames_en-EN.xml - paste the copied content in this file (I recommend Notepad to open it). - put this file where you have your inspector.exe @helifax why not sharing this XML file directly in your fix release?

@Laast: Because I didn't create the file;) It is made by DarkStarSword and I am not a fan of plagiarism;) I wanted to say exactly from where the file was taken;) It also seemed redundant to put it in the fix;). What I will do is to export the profile with Nvidia Inspector (NIP file) and ship that one with the FIX. Then people can easily Import the profile;) Just click-click;) @All: That post/thread is not complete yet and is work in progress;) BUT I really appreciate all the feedback as it shows clearly how I cam make the instructions easier to understand so everyone can follow :)
