Only GTA V is confirmed with support NVIDIA 3D VISION 2015 ?
Let me explain the process of game development to you. THE GAME WAS CREATED ON A WINDOWS PC, MEANING, A FUNCTIONAL PC / WINDOWS BASED VERSION OF IT EXISTED BEFORE ANY ATTEMPT WAS MADE TO OPTIMIZE IT FOR THE VARIOUS CONSOLE PLATFORMS. GTA 5, ANY GAME FOR THAT MATTER, was / is up and running on a PC before consolization began / begins. The whole "we were optimizing it for two years" rationale properly translated is: "We wanted to ensure maximum profit by delaying the release of the PC version, thereby increasing sales from a group of the consumer base who migrated from console to PC in the intervening period and felt compelled to purchase the game again". Seriously, are people really this stupid / naive?
Well.... Yes and no. As a fairly experienced software developer I can say that even though it was running on a PC to do that development- it was not in fact running as a PC game. The tool chain used to do development is completely different for doing console development, especially for last generation boxes like XBox 360. The fact that the PC was used for the development is really irrelevant. That's tantamount to saying that because iPhone apps are developed on Macs that they should automatically be available in the Macintosh App store. That's not how it works. It's closer than that for PC games, a lot of the basic engine and graphics will be the same, but it is definitely disingenuous to say that it was already running. It simply wasn't. It's cross-compiling for a different processor altogether for XBox 360, the original target. XBox 360 is also DX9 only, so when the switched to XBone, that was getting closer to PC in graphics, but still a completely different target/runtime architecture. Unified memory on an XBone, graphics API similar, but not identical. Again, it's a wild exaggeration to say it was already running. It certainly was not running natively, the tool chain doesn't support that. Anyway, some more detail on engineering trade-offs. It's not as easy as it looks, trust me. My take on it is that 3D trumps everything. They added native 3D support, and it's more important to me to reward that good behavior than to punish their bad behavior. edit:
State of critical thinking among the PC gaming community 2015: ... Less than one day left, very excited for this! I'm with those who don't want all that in-game pre-order money, but hopefully it's just a matter of neglecting to input a code. The real pre-order bonus is getting to pre-load this 60 GB game in order to play it on release day! There are some good recent reads provided by the GTA V Steam page: http://www.ign.com/articles/2015/04/08/hands-on-with-gta-5-on-pc-at-4k Here Rockstar talks about PC vs console development. My takeaway is that they planned for PC all along the way, but not at the expense of making the console versions look their very best in the short term. I've read that the PS3/Xbox 360 versions look stunning despite the weak hardware, so this sounds honest to me. Good for console gamers. http://www.ign.com/articles/2015/04/08/hands-on-with-gta-5-on-pc-at-4k Reading the text (I ignored the video) we get Rockstar mentioning 3D:
As we have said before, we are not in the business of making or selling hardware – we want everyone to be able to experience the games we make. That affects our approach to minimum and recommended specs so that the game was playable for as many people as possible, but it’s also a factor in offering up options for people at the really high end. We know 3D and triple-head are features some PC players really enjoy and to us it’s another new way to experience the game and we are really happy with the results.
I read that as being realistic about our niche size but also very respectful to the 3D community (us here). We'll find out for sure when the game unlocks, but my sense is that in regard to PC gaming and 3D, Rockstar gets it.

The new driver is out, and the release notes say a GTA V profile has been added, and is rated "Excellent". It's not a compatibility mode profile. Still possible we've been mislead, but looks increasingly likely this is happening in true 3D. Heroes of the Storm was also rated Excellent, and Mortal Kombat X was rated "fair". http://www.nvidia.com/download/driverResults.aspx/83819/en-us

I already installed the new driver. I am ready for 1AM (CET) and will report back if our hopes and dreams were taken into consideration or if we were screwed.

Here's what the game-day driver 350.12 has to say: I also thought it was interesting, at the lame level, that the launcher app is using a full CPU core to count down.

People were noting high CPU temps during the preload process (non-steam version).

Still installing the third update for R* version. So, you know, preload 60G, but then patch the patcher, patch the social club, then patch the game when it 'unlocks'. Always best not to be early adopter...

Can confirm 3d option in settings and adjusting convergence also. Nvidia depth and convergence work perfectly. Still indoors but it appears everything looks 3d ready! Will update once I get outside
