Issue with more recent drivers and passive 3d, bluray watching
I'm really not sure how to describe this issue in particular, as it's kind of unique. Basically what happens (and this didn't happen before I updated to the newest drivers in December) is that when watching movies with PowerDVD 11 (what I've always used for 3d movies) I now get this strange scan line / fuzzy interference / obscure artifacting that happens for about 4-6 seconds every 30 seconds or so. Interestingly enough, this happens whether or not 3d is actually being displayed [if I turn off 3d mode on the TV I still get the issue - the issue is actually broken down stereoscopically].
Additionally, I now no longer can display my desktop in 3d. When I select 1080p/24, for example, my TV recognizes its a 3d signal, yet what is displayed is clearly only half the pixels of the screen (as in if I'm only getting the output from one eye).
For reference I'm using 285.62, the graphics card is a GTX 570, and the TV is a passive 3d set from toshiba (TL515U).
I did not have this problem previously and it has only been happening since I updated to the newest drivers. Pictures of the obscure issue while watching videos will be coming soon (need to find a camera).

Grabbed the first 3d movie I could find to show off what it's doing. The first picture is how it always starts, that line will travel up the screen until the whole screen is covered (2nd picture) and then it just goes crazy till the screen is garbled ridiculously (3rd picture).
Since this is a 3d tv, I do not own 3dtv play, and do not know whether or not this happens with video games.
Any help would be appreciated.
EDIT: I can confirm it does this same issue when sitting on the desktop being displayed in 3d (or rather, not being displayed - as mentioned in the first post it is incorrectly displaying the 3d)

Update: downgrading to a previous version of nvidia 3d drivers is not fixing this problem. I really have no idea what the hell is going on anymore.
Edit: Just to clarify, it's definitely an issue with nvidia and how it frame packs the information - when viewing a SBS video, if I pull it up in any media player and turn on manual SBS from the 3d menu it works fine and there is no tearing.

After trying 6+ old driver versions, I found one that fixes this issue. If anyone else encounters this problem, the driver 266.58 fixes this.
Interestingly enough 266.58 is before they have a '3d vision controller' driver in addition to the '3d vision' drivers. Perhaps this is where the issue arises? I realize it's supposed to only effect the people with the 3d glasses (IR controller or something of the sort), but it may be where the issue arises. Alternatively, it just may be the newer version of 3d drivers (or the drivers themselves).
I'll try messing with updating JUST the drivers later, and see if the issue comes back.

It is impossible to update the drivers w/o updating the 3d vision drivers. In addition, manually running the installer to overwrite the newer 3d drivers with older, causes the 3d to not work (version mismatch if u try to execute right out of the folder).
Please take a look at this nVidia. I /cannot/ update my drivers because of this issue.

you did a great job trouble shooting this on your own. i find it apalling that no one from nvidia has contacted you.

javitz, i don't know if you're still checking here but i found a jerry-rigged solution to your problem. Instill a custom edid for either the acer hr274h or zalman 3d monitor. you can find these here: http://3dvision-blog.com/wp-content/files/passive-3d-monitor-edid-override-inf.zip
your 3dvision will work fine now, just put your tv in normal 2d mode and turn your resolution up to 1920x1080, 3d will automatically kick in when you play a game in 1920x1080 with 3dvision turned on. nothing special has to be pressed on the tv. you still get a full 60 fps. The downside to this is that you must now wear your glasses upside down and you can't go below 1080p on your pc or you will lose 3d.

Nope, your 'solution' has done nothing for me.
I have been using the workaround of downgrading to 266.58 for years now, and literally no response from nVidia.
nVidia: Why should I bother buying your cards again?
Update, finally got EDID override to work. Follow the instructions on this link if you have a similar issue: http://afriendlyfox.com/2013/02/04/massively-improved-nvidia-3d-vision-on-passive-3dtvs-edid-override/
