Id'd say its more of a case that EA are trying to use terms that don't fit properly and making asses of themselves in the process. Currently 3d-Ready applies to hardware: TVs can be 3d-ready, Projectors can be 3d-ready. EA decided themselves to apply the term to software then. It could be argued that they technically are correct, in that their upcoming games consist mostly of standard 3d-models, and so its simply a matter of "flipping a switch" (as they said) and suddenly the 3d models are in stereoscopic 3d.
Where you, I, and many others will be pissed off is where nvidia made the phrase "3d-Vision-Ready" synonymous with games that have all elements working properly in s3d. EA just dropped the "Vision" part and in essence dropped the pre-requisite for having all elements functioning correctly to s3d. Its just as you have pointed out, its a lame lie/half-truth to fool investors.
--Edit-- Might be best to stop posting on the newer thread you created, the naysayers are jizzing all over it. Anything to convince themselves they aren't missing out on anything!

If there is a 1% chance that they might make me3 or da2 3D we might as well try :P

I myself (even after just 2 weeks of it) find debating/arguing with other forum users over the merits and misconceptions of s3d to be too tiring and futile. We are heavily outnumbered and all the cogent arguments get submerged by the gimmick/hate/costs-too-much comments..not to mention deleted or locked threads! Everyone is firmly entrenched in their corner, and anti-3d people seemingly just want so badly to believe that s3d is a useless gimmick/not-for-them that they don't need to consider upgrading their equipment for.
I'm assuming in the other thread thats now locked when you said something along the lines of "3d users care about being immersed in games" was taken way out of context by the other users. They all seemed to draw the conclusion that you were actually saying "normal users don't care about being immersed in games", then they thought you were acting superior and immediately the hate-comments poured in. You've to be extremely careful in how your word arguments in those forums, as 1 misstep snowballs into a hate-avalanche. Then if you try to address people with neutral cold logic they accuse you of pretending to be intellectual.
That is so disrespectful to EA investors. Investors are usually not the most tech savy people so Bioware/EA is preying upon that.
Errrr, wasn't EA the company that hired people to protest their game at a game convention a few years ago??
Mix biowarre , consolitis, zero mod support, fanboys, e-thug's . Results: locked thread's, removed thread's.
I think you can't help, also I think Bioware's ideology towards making games is really really simple:
"steal the best, invent the rest", so they basically ripped off star control2 , http://blog.hardcoregaming101.net/2010/04/look-at-some-genuinely-excellent-star.html , and ripped off Borderlands too for its core gameplay mechanics, latter happened between me1 and me2 transition.
Just wait until they start stealing s3d related stuff. /tongue.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> /tongue.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
