Depth/shadow/ghosting question I'm seeing double...normal?
My 3D vision is all set up now. I've got a few games runnin' on it. I'm lovin every minute of it, however, I'm not sure if this is because of my eyes and itchin' hands, but I find myself constantly adjusting the depth controls.

Actually the games that I play in 3D I end up sliding the depth to the default or minimum. Anywhere higher than 30-40% I start to see a lot of textures double. For example, Far Cry 2, if you look at the sun and control the depth I can start to see 2 shadows on both sides grow out, same go for the trees. Its like a replica, otherwise the game looks crazy good, but I'm just wondering if this is normal. Is this considered ghosting? Is using the lowest setting for depth normally what you would use?

I"m using the Samsung btw. Anybody else gettin migraines after a while? Guess I gotta suck up and get used to that too! hahaha. Do any of you play on 100%??? I did set up the convergence, but can't seem to notice any diff. Unless I'm doing that wrong.

Thanks.

Well, don't look at the sun /haha.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':haha:' /> !
It seems to be a limitation with this monitor technology (samsung rz2233) to get a negative image(you see it as shadows) in high contrast image areas, also seen with clouds in farcry 2. Reducing the contrast settings in-game may help a bit.
Concerning the depht values, indeed you have to get used to it, you have to train your eyes. After ten years of using shutter glasses its easy for me to cope with 100 % or above settings.
Every depht setting needs a corresponding convergence adjustment to achieve an optimal result and it does make quite a difference.Try to press ctrl+ f6 or ctrl+f5 for a few seconds to see the difference. Advanced in-game settings must be enabled in the control panel.

The glasses do not block out all the light when blacked out. This results in the ghosting when looking at high contrasting scenes like the sun glare. Until we get a new kind of lense theres not much to be done about this besides reducing depth abit, but you'll never fully eliminate it with that.

well you if you keep the depth at the absolute minimum i noticed that the shadowing goes away.. but the 3d effect is not so noticeable. I play most games on 55% depth and adjust the convergence the best i can to adjust the scene so it's easy on my eyes. To me it seems that games that are in 3rd person... like prototype, TR: Underworld, Overlord2, and PoP are best played with 100% depth. Fps on the other hand look too stretched IMHO with really anything over 55% depth.

I'm using the viewsonic monitor and I too see the ghosting that you speek of. I really hope that someday this will no longer be an issue.... then 3d will be complete... lol

Thanks guys. I was just curious, I'll try not to look at that sun. Man, I feel like my eyes are going to pop out cross eyed on 100%. Gotta keep practicing. It's like the first time playing a 1st person shooter I guess, you get dizzy want to throw up and you just get over it. hahaha. Gotta do the same for this.

If you guys are playing 100% how far back from the monitor are you playing? Maybe I'm getting up too close?!?!? /whistling.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':whistling:' />

My face is about 2 to 2 1/2 feet from moniter... i was about 4 feet away at 1 point but it seemed to cause more strain on my eyes... don't know why
