Pip Boy in Fallout 3/Fallout NV
  2 / 3
My PipBoy renders fine, I think you guys have the convergence set too extreme...? The ONLY issue I've seen so far, and it's pretty minor actually, is some ghosting in the sky, and it looks like there's a user fix for it already.

if i close my right eye i only see half the display, same with left eye, each eye only shows half of the pip boy display. tried adjusting depth/convergence....no difference
we also need a sky/water fix for NV!
Well, I already fixed the sky meshes for 3d vision, http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=183411

and as far as the water goes, just untick water refractions and set water multisampling to low in the options via the launcher.

My method of getting past the bosseyed pipboy bullcrap was to change the key on my g13 from tab to a macro of "tab, ctrl+t". So i hit the key and it pulls up my pipboy and shuts off 3d, i press key again to put pipboy away and it does and also re-enables 3D vision. I have been very pleased with this workaround thus far. the only thing you'll need to do is change in the game is the wait key to something else (i used p), otherwise when you hit macro a second time to close out pipboy and reenable 3d it will register the t in ctrl+t as bringing up wait time. Alternatively you could remap the 3d hotkey i suppose.

if you dont have a keyboard or gamepad that can do macros i really suggest getting one. this g13 has proved very useful, especially for 3D games because of things like this and i also put in console commands to disable crosshairs or change FOV in certain games with it as well.

*edit*

Another possible fix could be through altering the FOV (field of view) for the pipboy and terminal screens:

"fRenderedTerminalFOV=0.15 - Sets the Field of View for the computer terminal screens within the game. Altering this setting effectively determines the size of the screens - higher values will make the terminal screens fill less of your screen, lower values will make the terminal screens larger (Fallout.ini).

fPipboy1stPersonFOV=47.0 - This variable determines the Field of View when you open your Pip-Boy 3000. The lower the value, the more of the screen the Pip-Boy will take up (and parts of the Pip-Boy may also become obscured); the higher the value, the smaller the Pip-Boy will be compared to the rest of the screen (Fallout.ini)."

find those in the .ini in the fallout directory your my games folder. if they dont exist you may have to add them. I'm going to try messing with it later but for now just want to play :)

For some reason I had to modify the Fallout_default.ini file in the actual game directory because the one in the documents folder keeps get over-written, even when I turn read-only off.

Well anyway, since I prefer to set convergence in 1st person games by trying to make a single image of a held weapon, it cause my pipboy to become unreadable. What I did was alter the line fPipboy1stPersonFOV to something higher like 65. This just makes the character hold his arm out farther. So while this makes the pipboy appear smaller on the screen, it also made it readable with my higher convergence setting.

By the way, I also turned my fDefault1stPersonFOV setting to 70 since 55 looks too small of a FOV for me on my monitor.

Ok man, this is genius and I love the hockey idea to turn 3d off when using the pip boy. I have a saitek gaming keyboard and a logitech gaming mouse (the popular one with silver on top and black on the rest). How do I do what you said? I write the macro with a program using software for my mouse or keyboard? Anyone help me here w some more detail please? I like HIGH converge inside fnv and this turn off 3d when using the pip roooocks!

think i'm going to try just adjusting the pipboyFOV option
