I think it was Star Trek Elite Force that uses IDTech/OpenGL and can be enabled with r_stereo=1 in the config. So if you have it, try this.
Edit: Twas Elite Force 2
Thanks D-man11, I'm going to have to try that for EF. That is another one that fan mods have added a lot of content. I still play that one on occasion on my old legacy machine and it is also fully supported in VR with VorpX.
Elite Force 2, which I think was the enhanced quake 3 arena game, use to be stellar in 3D but that is one that I can only play in 3D on my legacy machine now. No 3D in Vorpx or any other of my 3D injectors. IZ3D supported open gl for a short time but other than that, the only drivers I know of to support any of the enhanced Q3 games such as EF 2 and call of duty 2, is the old legacy NV 3D driver and that awful interlaced E-Dimensional driver.
Is there any hope for those games that anyone knows about?
Instead of a duel boot system for my Ryzen 2700x, 1080ti machine, I decided to replace the R9 390 in my middle win 7 Xeon machine with a 1070.

I was going to play Jedi Academy for my first time and was disapointed to see it was OpenGL and wouldn't work in 3D. Being a fan of light sabres, I resigned to play it in 2D. While editing the config file, I noticed r_stereo=0. For the hell of it, I changed it to r_stereo=1 and 3D worked. Up until thn GLDirect was the only way to play it in 3D, but I couldn't get it to work.

American McGee's Alice works this way as well, but crashes when saving.

Star Wars Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast, Return to Castle Wolfenstein and a few others work that way as well. At least on Windows 7, last driver I tried was 368.39
Sorry about EF, it was EF2, I was mistaken.
The only thing is that I could never figure out a way to increase depth via the config/autoexec file
Some people were able to get GLDirect working on their machines to play these.
The shaders are too old in these games to work with the wrapper from Helifax, pre OpenGL 1.4

Cool, I will check those mods out for sure. Have to dig out and install more old games. It's a shame that open gl was so under supported in 3D historically. Even in the 98-XP era, there were some NV 3D drivers that didn't support ogl at all. The one I'm using on my legacy machine now is a mismatch of an Quadro 3D driver with a consumer display driver. I even had a licence for the IZ3D ogl driver and when they dropped it, support was all like forget about it ogl is no longer supported. I'm wondering if there are legal property issues. IZ3D went out of business soon after and the word was from lawsuits. I wonder if that's because they dared to support ogl without a licence. Just a thought. OGL 3D is just so often perfect and hassle free when it works

iz3D was owned by Zalman and never went out of business, they decided to focus on gaming peripherals and simply discontinue support/development for 3D. They tried to sell the driver source code for something like $600,000
Arcsoft Total Media Center was the only 3D software that was stopped due to a lawsuit, it was filed by Dolby Studios, it seems they neglected to pay licensing fees for Dolby's Codecs.

Interesting, I was aware that Zalman manufactured the IZ3D monitors but didn't realize they were the owners. I do remember the original kick starter campaign and in the end how they tried to come up with that ridiculous sum in the forums when they announced the end of official support.
Though IZ3D claimed to be the first 3D flat screen on their box , I knew there was a Zalman 3D monitor before it that was supported by the NV 3D driver. I see Zalman in the list of 3D methods in the old driver I'm using.
I now have to try to see if I can get my IZ3D monitor to work with the Zalman option. Thanks for connecting the dots.

Hmm, I never heard of ScumVM, until I saw an article about an old Blade Runner game

It seems that they update the exe for old point and click games to run on modern systems.
