Windows 10 launching this summer. 3D Vision compatibility?

http://gizmodo.com/windows-10-is-coming-this-summer-no-need-to-wait-for-f-1692066771 Apparently, this is going to be released soon. It will be the only OS to support DX12 and all the performance improvements it will bring. Windows 7 is currently the Golden OS for 3D Vision support. I am hoping that 3D Vision isn't going to die with Windows 7? Has anyone had much success with running 3D Vision on Windows 10 setups? Is it as bad as Windows 8.1? does it work at all? Thanks!

Wasn't there supposed to be some native stereoscopy in dx12? Or was that just some nice dream I had?

I've tried the Windows 10 technical preview, and 3D seemed to be working pretty well. There's still a few big changes to go before release though. I'll be keeping an eye on it though - I have it on a secondary drive for testing.
Wasn't there supposed to be some native stereoscopy in dx12? Or was that just some nice dream I had?
Maybe you're thinking of DirectX11. When Windows 8 launched it included a newer version of dx11 that had native stereoscopic support built in. Initially Microsoft was saying that it would be W8 exclusive as an incentive to upgrade. They later included the feature for W7. http://www.xbitlabs.com/news/graphics/display/20121114130903_Microsoft_DirectX_11_1_with_Native_Stereo_3D_Output_Is_Exclusive_for_Windows_8.html I found it disturbing when Nvidia posted their Maxwell/DirectX 12 press release on the 3D Vision Live site, without even mentioning 3D. "Just isn't right" posting it there like that https://www.3dvisionlive.com/content/maxwell-and-directx-12-delivered

Also for those that were worried about the rumors of Windows 10 requiring a yearly subscription fee, last month Microsoft's Terry Myerson clarified that Windows 10 users will still get free updates and support for the lifetime of the OS, exactly like past versions of Windows.

Yah, pretty much. CryEngine 3 half heartedly used it. Nice thing is that it allows the use of 3D in a few games like Snow and Star Citizen by using config file tweaks since it's integrated into the engine. Unless the dev locks it out in the retail release, like they did in Ryse Son of Rome. https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/803235/?comment=4420038 https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/718751/?comment=4174419

It sounds like a crazy move, but China is considered to be largely a lost cause and the vast majority of people in China are still using (pirated) versions of Windows XP and malware is common (and often not detected by anti-virus products we are familiar with because most of it is distributed over Chinese websites and almost never infects computers in the English speaking world). Piracy is not just common over there - it's an engrained part of their culture (along with cheap knock-offs, factory night shifts producing products with materials that were rejected from quality control during the day and anything else they can think of to make a profit, legitimate or not). Any US company who wants to get into that market and have a snowballs chance in hell of making any money at all has to be prepared to accept that and deal with it, and that might mean using completely different rules to the rest of the world. But there's another factor at play here as well - after the Snowden revelations came out most US technology companies that were making money in China found that their market disappeared overnight. China lost faith in the US and companies have not recovered from it yet. This move by MS is just one step to try to regain confidence and while it probably won't make then any money in the short term, it may pay off later. <disclosure>The company I work for managed to avoid much of the market loss from the Snowden revelations as we had already been moving to a largely open source model, which allows us to give assurance that our products do not contain any NSA bugs as the customers can examine it for themselves.</disclosure> <disclosure>My Fiancé is Chinese</disclosure>

Think I will hold off on it for a bit when it's released.

Guys, stop trying to use Windows 10. Wait for release, non-beta drivers, and for results from people giving it a full test.

Anyone tested Windows 10 RTM with latest WHQLed nvidia Windows 10 drivers? Does 3d vision now work out of the box?
