Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic fan remake
Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic is getting a fan remake using the Unreal 4 Engine. (note: this will not be completed anytime soon) So let's hope that Disney doesn't interfere and ruin this complete ground up remake. Check out some gameplay posted on YouTube a few weeks ago. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s58TvG8V-0k

Knights of the old Republic is in my top 5 games BUT. This isn't going to happen. They did an AMAZING job recreating the areas [maybe like 1/100th of the total]. There is just too many models/textures/races/etc in knights of the republic. It wasn't as ambitious back then cause all this stuff was low textured in comparison and like 1/100 as many polygons. If the rest of the game holds up to this standard. The standards set with those maps are just way too high. If they were aiming just slightly below Mass Effect 1. I might see it happening. I seriously have difficulty thinking of an indie game that holds up to that standard with even a fraction of the size of KOTOR. ------------------------------- According to there site they are an ACTUAL video game company producing a video game. Perhaps this is more a proof of concept. I would totally be on board if they asked the rites holders how much they want and they they kickstarted the game using what they have to fund.

This reminded me to check on the status of the RE4 HD conversion mod: http://www.re4hd.com , which I've been following for the past couple years, and it seems to be getting relatively close to being finished! Just goes to show a project of this scope CAN be done, but definitely not overnight.

Knights of the Old Republic is, in my opinion, a game that hardly requires a remake. The game is already near perfect the way it is and its still visually pleasing. But most importantly, there is a slew of excellent modifications for the existing game and many are still under development brought by a very active community. I suggest checking here: http://deadlystream.com/forum/

I agree, the original game is stellar. I've played it 3 times so far. But the current engine has it's limitations, porting it to UE4, could be just the ticket to get some really awesome mods created.
