Sharp XV-Z17000 1080p 3D DLP projector
  1 / 3
I can't find any info as to whether 3D Vision (3D Play) will work with this projector - does anyone know? And if the answer is no, are there plans to add it or is it even possible that it one day will work?

It's the first ever 1080p 3D DLP projector which means no ghosting, which means I need to be gaming in 3D on it, STAT!

Many thanks!

Did you check the 3DTV Play support site where its listed as supported with 266.58 with 3DTV Play Support Update 1.0.0.19 drivers? :)

Love your enthusiasm Ingmar but this is by no means the first 1080p 3d projector, sharp have had their models out for a while now but this like those are limited to 24hz in 3d at 1080p so i'd avoid it like the plague unless you enjoy playing games at 24 fps? Hopefully see some true 120hz 1080p 3d PJ's this year.... hopefully. /wallbash.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':wallbash:' />

Oh my good god in heaven...I almost passed out when I saw it there. Thundercats are GO on this projector!

Thanks for that Andrew - I feel a tad embarrassed for being "that guy" that didn't find the list, but we're all allowed one, right?

Thanks again!

And like all FP DLPs, they generate irritating howling fan noise, so a non-starter anyway. If anyone ever makes a FP that generates no more noise than a common PLasma, LED, or computer monitor, I'll get ten of them.

Look this roller11 guy never heard the of the word "hush box" and he is notorious for it!!

Besides I don't think he has money for a watercooled Sim2, or Projection Design stuff anyway despite bragging about it!

No, it's perfect for me. I get full 1080p 3D movies (24fps) and still the best non-ghosting projector solution for my games in 720 :) I'm stuck at 720p for my games on my 3D LCD TV anyway so that's just the way it is thanks to HDMI 1.4.

There is a rumour that Optoma will release two HD3D pj's with integrated 3d-xl chip for ps3 bluray and sky 3d.

The working title for these are HD21 and HD83. Release should be this year. 1080p 3D and 120Hz at least for HD83.

guess you'r talkin about the consumer stuff, cause 'projection design' has 120hz fullHD, and fullHD+ for a long time
http://www.projectiondesign.com/?CatID=1851

BTW , if you can, throw the PC out of the room and use longer cables, put the DLP into a drawer , and use retroreflective screen. This way noise pollution is total minimized, and you can use the drawer as a special hush box, fixing contrast while you re at it, and/or install different throw/better quality optics.

This is my (... *) DLP project
* missing for PR reasons, sounds too good, lol /haha.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':haha:' />

I have a SHARP XV-Z17000 and it's by far the BEST 1080p 3D projector on the Market. Zero Ghosting and Very Bright 3D Image.

You will NEVER see a 1080p 120hz Projector released.

The first problem is HDMI can not do it. Limited Bandwidth. Max Bandwidth is 60Hz at 1080p and 120Hz at 720p.

The second and most annoying problem.
If you go to the HDMI Specifications page you will see the HDMI Licensing Terms are "Forcing" Manufacturers to "STOP" making devices with "DVI" connectors on them. And also forcing them to stop making devices with "VGA" connectors on them.

Their is even Dates by witch they must STOP using VGA and DVI Connectors. If they want to keep their HDMI License that is.

This whole HDMI thing is a total CON Job. Inferior design, So lets STOP the working DVI Dual link from being used.

This means any Manufacturer that wants to have HDMI connectors on their device MUST agree to the HDMI terms. Which means NO DVI Dual Link option.

Since the Limited Bandwidth is bulit into the HDMI cable design it can't be fixed. The only option would be to use 2 x HDMI cables. But I dont see that happening.
