@DHR, what vid card you using out of curiosity. @Skawen, does it crash about 30-60 seconds after moving around? (me, yes) If you stand still does it crash? (me, no) I gave up, thinking it was just my system (or me! ;-) ), and didn't want to bother anyone if so. I have the same error, win7pro, ddu all the time, multiple drivers tested, sli/no sli, single screen/surround. And no overlay/OC program. Have done a full re-install of the game files many times too. win7/pro/evga 980ti x 2 (no OC)/rampage V Ext/5930 or 5960, forget - 40 lanes/OC via bios to 4.4 or so/32 gb ram. The reason I thought my system as I had the same issue with the same system on Win10 (pre Anniversary) My 2 OS are on seperate SSD's that are turned off when one OS is live. It all started after that latest JC3 update that messed up DHR's original fix. Traveling again so can't test anything till Tuesday, but curious on more detail of your system/crash. P.S. still might be me or my system and not worth time spent on this if so, still gotta finish "Wolfenstien", then play the 2nd one. :-)

@djb, for me too it started after latest update, before it was running without crashes :( And yes it crashes about 30-60 seconds if moving.

@DHR, ya, thanks :-) Ok, kinda nice to know, not me or my system, but my general philosophy is after hitting my forehead on a brick wall multiple times, I turn and just walk another direction before it starts bleeding :-) Take care guys, and thanks for fixing and sharing so many games. Amazing to watch the game list on helixmod grow over these years. Sincerely,

I'm getting this crash as well, and have been trying to debug it off and on. I think it's possibly related to a problem that DHR and I ran into with ComputeShaders, the crash is identical. It seems a little different in that I think it only happens when the game gets really busy. I can make it crash by flying fast, and changing angles, whereas with the CS, it was a shader hang followed by TDR crash. In JC3, it seems like the pipeline gets full, and gets knocked over by TDR. I'll experiment more.

Thanks bo3b for looking! This issue can be fixed if i fix that shader using ASM? I think now we have all the tools in 3Dmigoto to do it....will be a brain surgery, because i have to mix a couple of features in 3Dmigoto and i don't know if will work....so i will try if we are sure.
Thanks bo3b for looking!

Based on the problem we saw with the CS in MirrorsEdge, it looks to me like the Decompiler is generating bad loops. We know from that experiment that it was possible to hand fix at least one to make it work. This is a problem that both DarkStarSword and I were worried about, where the Decompiler doesn't have any type information, and uses float for all variables. That's problematic, because for things like looping constructs, it's often using int or uint types. If they ask for (r1.y == 0), and it happens to be off by a tiny fraction because it's float- we can get hangs. I'm working through this JC3 Shadow shader to see if I can get it to generate cleaner ASM. It's much, much better than it was, but still hangs the driver, so I'm continuing to tweak it. This is helpful for me to see how to fix the Decompiler as well, so it's not wasted effort. If I can't get it working in a day or so, it's probably worth doing the ASM path.

Looks like I'm on the right track here with the shader. Cleaning up the code helped, and I commented out the first loop in that shader (the while loops), and was able to play for 2 hours with no crash. Added some strange vertical lines in places, but totally playable. That means that I've narrowed the bug down to a small piece of code, and should be able to get this working. More soon.

Just updated the fix for the latest version of the shaders. This fixes the crashes of the driver, the DXGI error, or TDR hangs. It also fixes all the decals using the offline script technique. Overall it's now running very well. No more stutter with 372.90, and no more crashes. There are some small glitches. Occasional small lights, some HUD icons. It's about 95%, but easily playable. 98% if you turn of all the junk HUD and just use reticle. http://helixmod.blogspot.com/2016/06/just-cause-3-dx11.html

Great bo3b!! many thanks!!! I also noticed this game runs very great with the 372.90 driver...no stutter and better performance. i recommend playing with "only reticle" option...there are a lot of unnecessary HUD elements and without them the screen is more clean.

I wasn`t ready for it. Really gave up and kept playing in CM but this fix actually works once again on Windows 10. I had to use config file created by DHR, the one where we disabled a few things - after that all good. Game stops for a while after Intro screen (first load) but after that it is all good. Thanks a lot, once again.
