nVidia SSAO and 3D Vision..one or another?
Hello all, I've played around (trial & error tests) for the last two days with SSAO enabled via nVidia Control Panel & nVidiaInspector in two popular games: Skyrim and Star Wars the Old Republic. My GPU is a GXT 590 going in 2D/3D Surround. What I noticed: I. 1) 3D Vision Disable 2) SSAO Enabled (performance or quality) 3) SSAO works, 3D vision is disabled ofc. II. 1) 3D Vision Enabled 2) SSAO Enabled (performance or quality) 3) 3D Vision works but no SSAO both when S3D is activated or deactivated. Now apparently you can either have one or the other...I was wondering why not both? or is there a way to enable both of them? I really dont want any injectors or wrappers since they decrease the performance more than they actually add... and with SSAO from drivers I get solid FPS (when it works in 2D) Is it because of the lack of VRAM on the GTX 500 cards? (the same reason AA is downgraded to 2x in S3D) Please fell free to offer your advice/ explanation:) I've searched around the forum but couldn't find anything saying why this happens... Best Regards, Helifax
Hello all,

I've played around (trial & error tests) for the last two days with SSAO enabled via nVidia Control Panel & nVidiaInspector in two popular games: Skyrim and Star Wars the Old Republic.

My GPU is a GXT 590 going in 2D/3D Surround.

What I noticed:

I.
1) 3D Vision Disable
2) SSAO Enabled (performance or quality)
3) SSAO works, 3D vision is disabled ofc.

II.
1) 3D Vision Enabled
2) SSAO Enabled (performance or quality)
3) 3D Vision works but no SSAO both when S3D is activated or deactivated.

Now apparently you can either have one or the other...I was wondering why not both? or is there a way to enable both of them? I really dont want any injectors or wrappers since they decrease the performance more than they actually add... and with SSAO from drivers I get solid FPS (when it works in 2D)

Is it because of the lack of VRAM on the GTX 500 cards? (the same reason AA is downgraded to 2x in S3D)

Please fell free to offer your advice/ explanation:)

I've searched around the forum but couldn't find anything saying why this happens...

Yes I think I remember we had encountered this issue with Skyrim months ago before the forums went down where AO was disabled with 3D Vision on. I don't recall there ever being a solution for it, I would dig up the post but I'm afraid it's very difficult to find anything after the forum server migration.

Yes apparently it affects all the games that don't have the SSAO option "embedded" in the engine. If I try to override it from the drivers I get this result....The problem is not with helixmod. This issue is from the drivers and cannot understand why not find a logical explanation :( It could be that nVidia didn't see this? I highly doubt it... It must be a reason:)

I play Skyrim perfectly fine in 3D with SSAO on. I use this ENB: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/11318 Which is based on Enb series 0.112Kage And performance SSAO / no DoF preset
