BUG REPORT: CD 1.19 still NOT detects Samsung DLP 3rd botched release
  3 / 3
So... I just got the test application to work on my HL61A750 using 1.19 only just by running the wizard on my Samsung Syncmaster 245BW, picking answers I know are right, then switching my primary monitor back to the HL61A750.

I don't know how, but it seems the only time the Wizard won't let you run it to completion is when your 3D-Ready DLP is your primary monitor.

Almost like there's a '!' in the code somewhere that shouldn't be. The behaviour is the exact opposite of what it should be.

Apologies for posting this in the wrong thread first.

You're still having to trick the setup application into moving forward.

Can you try fully uninstalling your current driver and installing v1.15?

If v1.15 works out of the box, again the problem lies with the display detection routines changed in the v1.16,v1.17.... releases.

From all user reports, v1.15 worked perfectly for everyone, detecting all generic displays(CRT/DLP/Projector) without issue.

All we're asking is for Nvidia to use the same display detection routines used in the v1.15 setup, it worked perfectly.

Actually they've lost their pass on making the driver "smart" as far as I'm concerned. Quit dumbing down the driver if it can't be trusted. Or give us some way to override broken detection.

Otherwise every time they change the detection algorithm for some new display they risk breaking it for existing displays, as far as I can tell.

So what is special about the Syncmaster 245BW? It isn't 3D Vision capable is it? So I can trick the driver hooking up any 2ndary display? Is there a way to do this trick without actually hooking up a 2nd display?

I have a Samsung 3D-ready plasma HDTV and it works again with the 1.19 driver. I could select "Generic DLP" as was possible in the V1.15 in the wizard, so for me the problem is fixed with the new driver.

Btw. I did a straight update from V1.15 to V1.19, no cleaning or whatsoever.

I don't know what your specific steps are, but I can hook up a second monitor, make it primary and choose answers I know are correct in the wizard just like you have done, finish the wizard, verify that I have Generic DLP as a choice, and the second I switch my HL61A750 back to the primary monitor the drop down box is gone and "3D Vision Discover" is back to being what is shown without choice.

So still at square zero here with the workaround.

There has got to be some type of registry hack for this stuff.

No...

=(

This is still happening, I installed Driver CD 1.19 and when you tick "Turn 3D on or Run Setup Wizard" the Setup Wizard crashes and gives the same error, there is a new error message after the 1st error.
StereoCPLAPI returned invalid video mode (1920x2160) from StereoLauncher-> getDefaultModeInfo

"The previous background texture was released"
So I can still not use my product because it has to run through the Setup Wizard which will not even start much less trying to make it to the end of the Setup Wizard!

I really need some attention on the problem please... Can not use my product since July

Andrew,

Just thinking something logical here... Could you have the driver team put in a option for DEBUG in the next driver release where it will dump a log of what happens while running setup wizard? Then we can all post our small log files to the forum here...

I bet this would provide a lot of technical data to your driver team to as of why I cant run the setup wizard at all and two why is is not detect generic 3d DLP's anymore...

This feature would not interfere with the drivers and since everyone is having trouble with the new release I am sure many people would not mind handing in logs.

Not full logs for playing 3D games but for the Setup Wizard only...

No.
1.19 still NOT detecting Samsung LED based DLP TV.
Apparently you are spreading very thin. Agreed with others that it's a good time to call in the devs to give a go at this problem.

Here's a workaround that works with CD 1.19 -- Instead of posting another long entry, please see my detailed procedure for the Samsung DLP installation using CD 1.19 on the "BUG REPORT: CD 1.17 "discussion. It really does work...see comments there.

Thanks to all participants for the clues that led me to testing every possible avenue to make my HL61A750 work in 3D with the new drivers.

Happy Holidays and go see Avatar in IMAX 3D. Incredible experience! No one talked, coughed, left for restrooms for 2.5 hours. Too Good for Words.
