3DTV Play - TW 5900 Epson video projectors supported (present/ future / the infinite and beyond) ?
Hi everyone , I am new here and as a welcome gift I come with a new topic !

I recently acquired an Epson TW 5900 full HD 3D and panasonic active glasses working flawlessly with the PS3.

As for the PC (I'v got an Asus mobile G53 JW with a GTX 460 M and a i7 740QM, using standard HDMI cable, I suppose it's only 1.3) it' s a little bit more complicated .

I have the latest nvidia drivers installed + the 3D TV play trial but the Wizard assistant set up would fail every time giving the message I v seen so often on many forums :
"Error in Stereo Driver, NvAPI_Stereo_IsActivated() returned 0 after stereo was enabled by default with Settings->setDefaultStartupMode(true)"

I only succeeded at watching 3D mkv via VLC and playing Crysis 2 and Sonic Generations in 3D (the 3D stereo is natively implemented in these 2 games, as for the other games need nvision or 3D TV play driver active to have 3D stereo enabled) while having to do a little manipulation, meaning setting manualy my epson 3D setting on "side by side" (although it was set on "Auto")
I had to deactivate the 3D in nvidia setting panel in order to make that work.

I checked the videoprojectors compatibility list on nvidia and wasn't surprised not to find my Epson (as it is brand new) but I can't see any reasons why it wouldn't be supported at least by 3D TV play (I don't have the nvision glasses nor emitter anyway)

I saw on many topics that this issue could be solved by setting up your monitor/video projector at 120hz but there is no way for me to manually do it on the epson (as it must receive a 3D signal to switch)

- Is it official that the TW 5900 (and 6000 I suppose) is not supported by 3D TV play (and probably nvision btw) ?

- If I buy a HDMI 1.4 cable would it change anything (that's not very clear, the cable seems to be an obligation on nvidia's official 3D TV Play support but not in the pdf guide as it stands as "standard HDMI cable") ?

- Will the TW 5900 be supported in a near future ?

Thanks in advance and sorry for the bad english (french here)

For 3DTV Play support your best bet is probably to submit your EDID to NVidia, though I suspect the Error is unrelated to "support", it seems to turn up from time to time for various people, there were a spate of drivers for going on 3 months that did this for me and I'm using a supported display.
You used to be able to work around it by using task manager to kill setup while the dialog box is on screen, usually it's enabled 3D by then and it seems to disable it during cleanup after the dialog box is closed.

Unless the projector has a dual link DVI port on it, it'll never be supported by 3D Vision, and even if it does, if the manufacturer didn't work with NVidia on support it won't happen.

Thank you for the answer and Sorry for the late one I was terribly busy : what do you mean exactly by "submitting my EDID to Nvidia", I am quite new to this ?

Regarding the task manager trick, I suppose you mean opening it while the wizard assistant set up is running, what could be the exact timing to have the job done ?

How can I have any official statement from Nvidia to say if yes or no my EPSON is supporting 3D TV play ?

Thank you in advance

3D HDTVs and Projectors can be added in most cases by following the instructions listed at http://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/2774

HDMI 1.3 Displays can not be added to 3DTV Play.

If purchased as a standalone product 3DTV Play can only be reinstalled 5 times. http://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/2892

So you may easily get screwed if you use drive sweeper to uninstall a beta or malfunctioning driver. But hey, that never happens.
