I get 3 images everywhere at all times. One in the center - the "main" image, and a ghost on the right and left sides of that one. No exceptions.
2) Convergence settings can have a significant effect on ghosting as perceived. Call of Duty World at War for example i was starting to see too much ghosting at the normal settings I use where half the scene is in the screen and half out. Distant objects against the sky and mist were ghosting pretty bad. I adjusted the convergence to where all the objects were in front of the screen. i.e. distant objects had no separation; close objects had separation. Ghosting was minimized because there were no distant objects offset against the sky anymore and the game looks great. This did not remove ghosting but it certainly minimized it and made it a non issue in this game. I did the same with mirrors edge.
I have depth turned down the lowest setting or close to it, and increase the convergence to what feels equivalent to 90% depth. Using this workaround, you don't have as many distractions. For instance, in Farcry2 the clouds and sun create very ugly rainbow ghosting that is different for each eye - very hard to look at. also any tree branches, or mountains against the sky are sharply duplicated. However, using convergence only, the distant objects are solid and the foreground objects are ghosted. Luckily this looks a little more familiar since we're used to seeing imperfectly fused images in the foreground, and the same image for both eyes in the background. What you lose is some of the sense of distance. The close to medium distance objects feel right, but it starts to feel like a 2d backdrop beyond a certain range. On the plus side, pop-out is definitely happening this way. Things coming at you, like rain, grass, branches, rockets, bullets are extraordinary. This minus is the gun is right in your face all the time and you have compromise with the settings to be able to sight anything.. Also I tried using a balance of depth and convergence -but as soon as you add depth the distant-object ghosts are back - so that's out..

Another interesting side effect - the image is overall magnified differently with convergence only. Everything seems small - your gun is small, when you walk up to a car, the car seems small, and you seem very short and walk slowly. With a lot of depth an no convergence, it's the opposite, you feel like you're a giant riding a horse when your walking, when you run you seem to go at bionic speed. Hours of fun exploring these phenomenon. I would say the most unnatural part is that your eyes are looking at what appears to be a great distance, but in reality your eyes are still having to converge on a point a few feet ahead. With the depth-only setting, your eyes are not forced to converge on a point, but are more parallel. i.e. the distant images are rendered a few inches apart.

Anyway, i just want to recommend to those of you intrigued by the technology but annoyed by ghosting to give this a try as it does help and the popout is cool.

You'll have ghosting - but you can get used to it. I'm a big complainer, and it's worth it to just get used to it. Also, if you keep the depth lower than 25 percent, the ghosts are very close to the real images and therefore harder to notice. You still get out-of-screen effects that way.

Well, that depends on what game your playing. L4D it doesn't show very much, but in UT3 is extremely distracting, even on the lowest depth settings it's almost unplayable with all the ghosting.

Sure it's a neat effect, but ghosting in some games can really ruin it.

I've also found that if you turn the depth up a lot (100% or higher), the ghosting is also less distracting since the ghosts are actually quite far away from the object on which you are focusing.
In COD5 i sometimes see two images of the same. Like at the beginning of the game there is a candle or light source and i see two light sources. If i decrease depth to almost none, both sources merge and become one. Is this what everyone is seeing as ghosting? Or is it something else?

It occurs in several games. For example in Fear2 i see halos around light sources if depth is increased. Again if depth is decreased to a certain point halos merge into the light source and disappear. Many people describe ghosting as occurring in areas where light and dark sources contrast. Does someone have straight explanation of what ghosting clearly is or is not?
This is some advice for anyone unsure if what they are seeing is ghosting or not.

Close one eye and if you see some of the other eye's image, then that's ghosting.
Do the same for the other eye and notice the difference.
Since you're only using one eye, you can turn up the separation and convergence to help you spot the ghosts.
In rare cases, the ghosting can be different in each eye as in Starwars Battlefront in my case. I can even see the
ghosting in a screenshot when veiwed in 2d so that tells me it's a rendering issue and not a display fault.

In Guz's case, there's a slight chance that it might not be ghosting and just some halo/corona effects that
get rendered at screen-depth. If that's the case, then you might be able to fix that by turning off that effect
in some rendering option screen of the game or in an ini or config file. You can tell if it's at screen-depth if
the corona is in the same wrong location on the screen for both eyes when viewed one eye at a time.

Also, do the ghosting test from the first page of this thread posted by Freke1.

Who ya gonna call? Probably not Ghostbusters. Maybe Nvidia. /blarg.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':/' />

Wish Nvidia would chime in here. I'm basically sitting here with $600 worth of gear that is useless to me until it's working properly. The glasses do not go fully opaque, they just flicker 'mostly' dark. This causes noticable ghosting. I'm almost tempted to call this a defective product, but it seems to be designed that way. Does anyone have experience with other brands of shutter glasses that DO go fully dark when they are supposed to? Or is this just an inherent flaw in the technology?

If they went fully dark, the flickering would be much more intense and the glasses would be even darker, requiring a monitor just slightly brighter than the sun.

I know this is an old thread but I just wanted to put this out there for anyone that comes here like I did to find a fix. I had major ghosting issues like everyone else was describing. I then unpluged my IR transmitter from the usb 2.0 slot on my computer and pluged it into the usb 3.0 slot and there is 0% ghosting now, NONE! I have seen others that have changed settings related to their usb and it fixed theirs as well. Go here for more info http://forums.nvidia...pic=198407&st=0

Hope it works for you guys too.

The Planar SA2311w monitor is the solution to ghosting although admittedly my transmitter is also plugged into usb 3.0

I was using a CRT before and it had some ghosting and also about an inch of out of sync at the bottom of the screen.

No amount of usb swapping and peripheral plugging into hubs made any difference to this problem.

However ghosting is so annoying that I would try out any of the solutions suggested.

Sadly they dont sell planar here...so i just have a w2363d and honestly i have a lot of ghosting... Depends on wich background if its annoying or not.

I only have a DH55TC motherboard and its a USB 2.0... if i buy a PCIe USB 3.0 Card should work? i meant not by the glasses but by the motherboard.

WARNING!! Ambiguously constructed poll. The proper answer to "Anybody free of ghosting?" is "Yes" if you do NOT experience any crosstalk.

No ghosting at all on my Acer H5360. I selected "Yes, in every game I play".
