battlefield 4 was the main one I decided to go 3 way as it does seem to make a difference on that one. you are right tho does not help in to many games. Minimum frame rate from their FCAT results is right at 60 fps. The ROG has about 3.5M pixels, 1080p has about 2M pixels, so roughly 50 more than 1080p. I don't think you'll be able to turn down the AA that much, because the ROG Swift is about 110 dpi, which doesn't really change the perceived resolution. The big difference here is that it is 27", so more pixels, but stretched over bigger distance. For VRAM, you will be fine with BF4, but I think you will run out of VRAM on Watch Dogs at 3G, because of the larger frame buffers (50% more pixels).

Watchdogs is one I cannot understand how it uses 1gb vram before the game has even started to me something seems not right there. And that game runs like crap on everyones system it seems any how. Ill see how my 780ti's go on the rog swift, im not keen to pay out for titans at the moment when it seems gtx 880 isn't to far away

People with very expensive systems were disappointed that it ran poorly on their systems with everything turned to 11. And were apparently unwilling to accept that they needed to turn down a knob or two. This is very much like Crysis. Was Crysis a bad game because it pushed the envelope for hardware? When I run Watch Dogs, I get very smooth gameplay with a single GTX 760 (4G) right now on 720p (50 fps Minimum). With everything turned up to Ultra, including textures. Except for AA. The big killer with this game is AA because of the VRAM, and super sampling is pretty much out of the question.

I have tried and tried to get watchdogs to run smooth and it just wont. unless I run the whole game in medium or low. walking around is ok but in vehicle the stutter makes in unplayable. Mind you I haven't tried it again since it was first released im not sure if there has been a patch since then. I wont be playing it until the lag is fixed. I might give it another go later. Is there any settings that help with the stutter? Tried it again just now, it stutters like crazy even on medium to low settings with no AA it still has stutter. Somethings not right with it. As soon as I go into the game and just in the menu it is using 1 gig of vram straight off, no other game I have uses this much vram when only in the menu.

Not sure what would be up with that. I assume your 780ti's have 3G, right? I ran this previously with SLI GTX 580. And got it running smoothly there too. When I first started on medium settings I was getting wicked stutter when driving, but fine otherwise. In order to make it play nice, I had to change stuff related to VRAM. Anything else didn't matter, in terms of performance, so stuff like DOF, Shadows High, didn't make any difference. The primary settings I had to change were 1) textures to low (1.5G cards), 2) no AA. 3) running at 720p. 4) Pre-Rendered frames 0. 5) World detail medium. All of those impact VRAM by creating buffers. Stuff like Rendered Frames at 3 will cost you 3 full frame buffers, so if you run at 1440p that will really add up. At 1080p, it's still a hit, but should be OK. I don't believe there is anything wrong with the game because not everyone has the problems. If it were a "bad-port", or "poorly optimized" like people have been bandying about, then no-one would be able to get it run smoothly, and I have, with two different configs. From what I can tell, the game is not that demanding on GPU, and only a little on CPU, but it really cares about VRAM. I'm not sure that 3G is enough, depending upon the settings. Remember, stuff like Aero sucks down another 500M or so by itself. When I run the game on the 760, with everything maxed but AA, it is using 3.4G. What is your max when running the game, are you hitting 3G?
Thanks I will give it another go tonight I tried yesterday and had the vram sitting on around 2.7 to 2.9 but still the crazy stutter was still there. Im running windows 8.1 so that does not use so much vram. If I have to go down the road of getting 6gb cards I will but the price for them is just insane. Games like this start to make me worry about buying the ROG SWift lol. I guess people are right when the said the 780ti is a crippled card with 3gb vram. Games can max it out with all the eye candy. Titanfall maxes It out but yet I don't get stutter in that even tho it is maxed. Ill wait for another patch for the game maybe if it does not fix it I may look at going down the road of titan black sli or wating for the 800 series. Thanls for the info ill give it another crack tonight

I know i've recently started running without AERO on my Samsung 46ES7500 because of the [slightly] reduced input lag.

For those looking for a cheaper alternative...Neweegg has the ASUS VG248QE for $275 plus you can get an additional 10% off until the 24th. Or you could have 3D Vision surround for what you'd pay for the PG278Q. The Acer GN246HL is also on sale and $25 cheaper, but it does not have DisplayPort. Neither has Gsync, although it can be added to the VG248QE via a kit.

This monitor looks awesome. I can't wait to pick it up. From the FAQ, it seems 3D mode is limited to 120Hz, which is a shame. It also wasn't clear if G-Sync is compatible with 3D Vision (I'm guessing no, but it would be nice to find out for sure).

That $800 price tag plus extra GPU requirement is giving me pause though. I decided to try the VG248QE with the DIY G-Sync kit. I bought a used one off eBay for $150, and went with used because it voids the warranty anyway. Installing the G-Sync kit was pretty easy, hardest part is getting the bezel off. I can answer that question: G-Sync and 3D Vision are mutually exclusive right now in the control panel. If you enable one, it disables the other. It's not clear to me why they made it this way, I could easily see variable rates on the shutter glasses working fine, as long as they don't dip below say 85Hz.

I have just bought two titan blacks in sli now I should have no more worries about running out of vram lol instead just a nice hole in my bank account. Got to get rid of my 780ti's now. Will definitely be keen to get this monitor but I think its gonna be a little while yet before it hits the shelves in my country. Im still interested to see what the 3d is like on it, I have noticed no reviews have tried 3d or even really mentioned it. Only thing im worried about is ghosting but I cant see it being to much of an issue

SLI 780ti is no slouch, but for this bad mutha it's gonna take the best in the world. It's less valuable for Watch Dogs, although should do nicely there as well. Watch Dogs doesn't really beat down the GPU computing part, even a single GTX 760 can run it nicely, but that VRAM will definitely help. I think I might now be seeing what you see with your 780ti's, where you get weird stutter occasionally. I'm using a 1080p monitor for the first time in a long time, and I also let the game update to the latest version. Previously I forced no updates because I don't like games breaking stuff that is working. With that combo, I'm seeing some stutter, even if I turn down some settings and see it using only 2.7G out of 4G on the card. Looks like Ubisoft might have broken something. I'll experiment more and report back.

Im still interested to see what the 3d is like on it, I have noticed no reviews have tried 3d or even really mentioned it. Only thing im worried about is ghosting but I cant see it being to much of an issue
I think you are going to be happier with SLI Blacks for this 1440p monitor in 3D.
