9 series SLI + 3D not working at all (Asus ROG SWIFT PG278Q)

I'm using two 970GTX in SLI and in every game I try there is no performance boost (often even worse performance) with SLI and 3D enabled. Even though both GPUs work at almost 100% the end performance stays the same as with a single GPU and often decreases. I'm using the 344.48 WHQL drivers.
Besides that there is no performance gain, some games are rendered wrong in 3D when SLI is enabled. For example Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light has great 3D quality with Helix mod when SLI is disabled. With SLI enabled you see Lara and some other objects double, there is ghosting, you can see it immediately in the main menu if you move the mouse. And there is no change to convergence, depth or frustrum that can fix this.
I've upgraded to 970GTX SLI for better performance than with my 670GTX SLI, but now it turns out it's completely broken. I end up with the same or worse performance, because I can use only one card... Yet another problem to add to my growing list of 970 woes...
Can anyone confirm this?

i have gtx670 sli and asked several times here how new cards would work in 3d, well, i have an answer, thanks. New drivers suck and u cant use old drivers on new cards, so i will wait if they dont fix it - no 9 series buying. the bad thing is gtx670sli will gonna be not enough very soon

Using Windows 7 64bit:
No problems with 970 SLi in Shadow Warrior. Haven't tested any other games yet.
Do you know that 3D Vision cuts down performance by ~50%? Perhaps this is what you are seeing.
Also, S3D is limited to 60FPS assuming a 120Hz monitor / frame packing being used?
Or are you saying that S3D performance is the same with both SLi enabled and Disabled, i.e. with SLi enabled AND S3D OFF, you get 4x more FPS than with SLi enabled AND S3D ON?
If this is indeed what you are saying then I'd be happy to do more tests...

I'm using windows 7 x64. I might try this again on Win8.1 and report back.
SLI is working fine in general until I enable 3D. The funny thing is that both GPUs will be working at 100%, but there is no performance increase.
For example:
With single GPU + 3D I get 38 fps average in GRID2.
With double GPU + 3D I get 36 fps average in GRID2 and both gpus are working at 100%.
With no 3D enabled I get 115fps average and that is vSynced. So go figure. This would roughly translate to 115/2 = 57.5 fps average for 3D, which I'm not getting.
This happens with every game. 100% gpu usage on both gpus, but the framerate is the same as with a single gpu.
I've also tried leaving SLI enabled, but setting render mode to single GPU. And the funny thing is that this yields the same results as using SLI recommended driver mode. Close to 100% usage on each GPU, no increase in performance.
I see that this issue seems local to me. :( It might have to do with the fact that I run an MSI next to an EVGA and they won't work in SLI by default. I had to use some hacky patch in order to make SLI work at all...

Games that do not run in stereoscopic 3D work great in SLI. 3D should work equally great :(

That was an Inno3D card, but I already returned that one, because it was overheating. Now this problem comes around the corner again. Yea I'm two days too late... Add the weekend to that and it'll be five days.
It took me this long to discover, because I had a week vacation in between and I had the debacle with the Inno3D card after which I ordered my MSI and had to wait for that one.
With the Inno3D card SLI worked just fine, I don't get why it won't work out of the box with these two...

I just discovered something interesting...
Without the SLI brige connected I'm getting the same performance results as with the SLI bridge connected, (i.e. good non-stereoscopic 3D performance)
And whether the SLI bridge is connected or not, it still tells me in the drivers I should connect the SLI connector for optimal performance.
Could this actually mean that the SLI connectors of my MSI card are broken and I'm addressing the wrong problem here? The SLI connectors on the EVGA are confirmed working, since I didn't have any problems or notices when I had it running with an Inno3D card in SLI.
