Using the BF3_3D_unlocker.bat file, I got 3D Vision to kick in, but there's a trick, the instructions don't work. Here's what worked for me:
1. double click on BF3_3D_unlocker.bat, you'll get a command box. Do not hit 'enter' just yet.
2. launch BF3 by double clicking on your BF3 shortcut icon. Wait until you see it come up windowed, then immediately hit 'enter' in the command box.
3. game launches in 3D
This works, but timing is critcal. After you launch the .bat file, you'll probably need to move the command box to a part of your screen where it won't be obscured when you launch the game (windowed). After double clicking on the BF3 shortcut icon to launch, the game delays about 2-3 seconds before actually launching. When it launches, it will be windowed for 2-3 seconds. You must hit 'enter' during this windowed period (with the cursor in the command box) to get the 3D to kick in. So hit 'enter' after the game launches in windowed mode, and before the game goes full screen. If you hit enter too early or late, the game will launch in 2D.

Having said that, the 3D is totally screwed up. The convergence is way off and the convergence controls don't work so there is no way to fix it. Also, lights and FX are in the wrong place. In short, the game is unplayable in 3D. Hopefully EA will offer a 3D patch as the 3D has great depth and if the artifacts are eliminated, it should be awesome in 3D

Update:
I fixed the convergence problem, but the lighting problem is severe and there is no fix. This game is unplayable in 3D.

Andrew - does having the game rated as '3D Vision Ready' mean that you guys have seen a version which is 100% in 3D, or is that rating based of off some other criteria?

I think we have another fiasco in our hands(Witcher 2 anyone?). BF3 is so broken that I dont think 3D support is DICE's first priority. I doubt they even talk about it right now.

Agreed....NVIDIA... I bought the game because "YOUR" driver said it was 3D Ready...

Thanks NVIDIA for wasting my money.

Andrew already stated that the client version they were provided was the one that they had the "3D Vision Ready" drivers for. DICE then released the game with a different version of the client that was not the one Nvidia was given to test with. I will call Nvidia out on things when I feel it is something on their end but the blame here is on DICE and not Nvidia so I suggest complaining to them on the BF3 forums.

Excuse me, but don't tell or even suggest who "I" should complain to.

If EA/DiCE said on their website (or anywhere) that BF3 is 3DVision ready then yes I would take it up with them, but it doesnt.

The NVIDIA driver which I use to see which games are 3DVision ready said it was, so my issue is with NVIDIA.

Simple.

"I" was just explaining what the situation was with this game. If "you" just want to bitch and moan about it then go ahead.

3D Vision Ready in my personal opinion means that Developer of this game takes serious Stereo3D and will do everything to make it work as best as its possible. Happends many times right now and we always were getting that what They Estimated!

Hi all together,

I will get crazy if I read this thread. Why? Let me explain...

I got a new DELL Alienware M17X R3 gaming notebook with Nvidia 3D Vision installed some weeks ago. I tested the 3D Vision environment with the 3D pictures and 3D videos on the Nvidia 3DVision Live WEB site. And I was overwhelmed of the great look. 3D Vision stereoscopic looks great! Then I would check this 3D feature with a new 3D game on my new notebook. I've checked the Nvidia WEB site in 3D Vision section to find the best 3D supported game. I found categories of 4 stars for "Exellent" and 5 stars for "3D Nision ready" 3D support. I selected the "5 star category" and found the new shooter Battlefiel 3 (BF3). I wondered that there is no 3D hint on the BF3 WEB page and also no 3D hint on the game cover. But I thougt if Nvidia announces this game as "5 star - 3D Nision ready" supported game it will be OK. I bought BF3 for PC today for 54 € and installed it on my new notebook. I also installed the new 285.65 GeForce driver for my GTX 580M beacause there is BF3 support included using this new driver version.

But now I see that there is NO 3D Nvidia seroscopic mode available in BF3 /crying.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':'(' /> /crying.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':'(' /> /crying.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':'(' /> !!! Crazy!!! I asked Google and found this thread.

He Nvidia guys - that can't be! Please make your homework! Nvidia (and NOT EA and DICE!) classifies BF3 as "5 star - 3D Nision ready" game. And now it doesn't work and I can't play this game in 3D. What a swizz (sorry). Where or how I can get my money back??? Or is there any reliable possibility to play this game with Nvidia 3D vision? That would be great...

Best regards and greetings from Germany

Janni

Guys, there's 2 ways to look at this.

Would you rather Nvidia put no 3D Vision Profile for Battlefield 3 in the last 2 releses of the driver, even though the preview version of BF3 they were given to validate warranted a 3D Vision Ready designation?

OR

Would you rather Nvidia have put no profile in their driver at all, then when BF3 releases its 3D update patch, we have to wait for days, weeks for Nvidia to get a new driver out with 3D Vision profile?

Please don't chastise Nvidia for doing the proactive thing of including game profiles far in advance of a game's launch; something they have done for a long time now and a major reason we have good game support for SLI, AA and now 3D Vision on the day a new game lanches. A current example is Diablo 3. Its not even close to release, but people who have beta access can test it in 3D. Good for everyone right?

Also, for those calling Andrew a liar...please do some research. We know for a fact DICE is handling 3D implementation in BF3, the settings are in-game, they worked in Alpha, were there in Beta (did nothing), and have been removed in Retail. DICE has already said they plan to implement it in a patch, soon. No 3D Vision in BF3 right now has nothing to do with Nvidia's decision or actions, it is all on DICE. If you want, you can enable a workaround to get 3D Vision working, with some issues, which again proves the driver is ready to support BF3. Either wait for the patch from DICE, lobby DICE on their forums, or use the workaround, pointing fingers at Nvidia and calling them liars does nothing constructive....
