DO I have to unplug vg278 everytime I need 3D to work?
I have the vg278 with built-in emitter. Everything is updated. except the IR emitter wont light green when i get the double pictures (3D). I have tried unplugging monitor for 10 sec and it does work. But after couple of computer turn-off and restart, it stops working. Have they found a solution for this?? Feel so miserable for getting this monitor vs buying the monitor with IR separately

That happens to me sometimes, I just turn 3d off and back on with ctrl+t. Does that work for you?

It happens for me too and the only way to make it wors is unpluged the monitor when it is on and replug it immediately. This happens only when the monitor is not pluged for a long time when it is always plugged no problem for me.

If the problem persists it's probably worth taking it to the nearest ASUS service centre, if there's one in your area.

Sounds like a problem, I'd take it in to get look at. Wouldn't hurt to try it on a different system, or try it after a driver reinstall though. Even take a backup, format windows and see if that helps. If it doesn't, just restore the backup.

I actually had it replaced with a new one before 6-8 months ago, but the problem persisted. There isnt an asus service center near me. backing up and making a new format is too much work and ill more than likely screw up since it's something i havent done before. I also use a 'borrowed' version of win7. Anyway, I have a question: when your 3D turns on, does your screen dim a little?

@demilexus There are several posts in here (3Dvision) going back about a year or so, with the plug/unplug, along with some of my previous comments on my 3 x VG278H. I know this is not "the" solution, but I ended up grabbing a usb Nvidia emitter ( the little pyramid thing ) and using that. I use surround mostly with the VG278H, and there are times where 1 emitter on the VG278H lights up, sometimes 2 monitors, and sometimes 3 monitors. With the external pyramid emitter with the little wheel on the back for 3D depth plugged in, I don't have any problem. So, mine is a work around mostly, not a real solution for the built in emitter.
I don't think that's normal.
Do you have contrast & brightness at 100? I just found a similar question about brightness and they said it's normal http://forum.notebookreview.com/alienware-17-m17x/740478-m17x-r4-dim-screen-during-3d-content.html

I think brightness automatically maxes out when 3d is enabled, whereas my default setting is fairly low (contrast is below 100 too, not sure exactly what it's set to and I'm not home to check). So if anything, my screen gets much brighter when 3d goes on.

It should almost double in brightness.
