forget popout or convergence is dead?!

whats the deal with the disabled convergence in almost all of the latest games?
im starting to see a very disturbing trend here.. :(

RE5 - no convergence
[s]Wolfenstine - no convergence
Batman - no convergence
Risen - no convergence[/s]

the only game where i was able to adjust convergence has been NFS:Shift

to tell you the truth this is seriously pissing me off, more than all other 3DV problems put together :((

i don't try Risen yet, but at least in Batman and Wolfenstein convergence is not locked like every game except RE5.

As the other poster said RE5 is the only game with locked convergence at this time. I haven't tried Risen yet, but I'd be shocked if it had convergence locked considering that it is not even a 3D vision "ready" game. Locked convergence can only be done as a conscious decision of the developer based on what Nvidia has said on the subject. I suspect that in Batman you just didn't hold the convergence button down long enough to see it change. I made that same mistake when I first tried changing it. At first I thought that something was wrong with my system because I knew that convergence was supposed to be adjustable in the game.

yeah.. my bad. /blarg.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':/' />
indeed holding button for a long enough time was the issue.

the problem is that there were absolutely zero visible changes for about 20-30 sec before image on the screen started to change..
this definitely is a an issue which should be addressed by the Nvidia driver team - some kind of OSD feedback should be in place..

I also thought Batman had convergence blocked cause it takes forever until you see the character comes out of the screen.
Actually Batman is one of the best games with pop out effects, its awesome!!!!!
As far as I know RE5 is the only game I've played with locked convergence therefore it has all it's cut scenes in 3D which is a we shall say, a plus....

I have convergence in everything but RE5. I'm not sure what the issue is for you, but they all adjusted just fine and looked great (except for Wolfenstein which looks ass no matter).

I'm not sure why other peoples convergence is locked in Batman, but I am using the Steam version which might make a difference.

Yeah, this is really annoying that RE5 doesn't have convergence controls. I understand that the developers optimized the game for 3D but they should at least let us have some options here. Maybe make it within a certain range or something. Straight up disabling it is rather a bad precedent. This should be the game with the *MOST* strereo3d options, not the least. It does look pretty decent on the default settings though, I will give them that. Also, it would help if the convergence settings has some sort of OSD so you could see what you are doing. Many times you just have to adjust the settings "in the dark", at times holding down the button for ages just to see an effect. Something should be done about this.

Yeah I noticed with the Risen demo last night that I had to hold the convergence button down for a pretty long time before it worked. An OSD would be a great improvement. That way we could share our convergence settings with other people to help get the best effects.
