To elaborate, it's the Dual 9800m GTX in SLI that I have.

I emailed Nvidia about it and they said that those cards are 'not supported', however i have read elsewhere that people are running 3D Vision quite happily with these cards.

Does anyone have any insight they could share on this matter..?
Bloody has tested the M1730 with the Samsung 2233RZ and it worked very well.

Nvidia didn't test 3D-Vision on this laptop cards, so they don't want to be bothered by support-mails that game "xyz" isn't working or screen "xyz" doesn't work - so I guess.

Bloody, if you read this, please could you give an indication of what kind of framerate and general performance you were getting while testing the M1730 with 3D vision in games?

I have the dual core 2.2 and the 9800GTX in SLI. 4gig of Ram.

I'm thinking of buying the glasses/monitor bundle this week, but am a little concerned about performance.

Thanks in advance

Did you also buy the Dell Dual link adapter mentioned above? Is that what you needed to get it working with the diplay port?
Thanks

wow mol, you pretty much have the same issue that I do. I have the alienware M15x with GTX 260m graphics and no dvi. i was thinking of getting this http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/products/Cables/productdetail.aspx?c=us&l=en&cs=19&sku=330-5521 (duel link converter for displayport). I have a 120 hz monitor, 3d kit and i havnt got anything with the vga to DVI converter. But I am hoping the link above fixes it and i am able to use the 3d vision set. Please let me know ho it goes for you!
Thank you!

i have talked to nvidia several times about notebook GPUs, and they are not too helpful. They say that my gtx 260m probably wont work. I know that this is not ture, because as you said, you read reviews on how notebook gpus work, so have I. Also the Notebooks with 3d ready screens built in,some of which have lesser gpu horsepower than my 260 and your 9800. so Id be willing to guess that your going to get good fram rates. I am waiting for mol to awnser the big question weather the duel link display will work for my alienware m15x.
good luck

we will find out and I will let you know. I have ordered it and 3d vision. Best way is to try and see. If it doesn't work out, I will sell the kit on ebay and get some of the money back. Well done for spotting that convertor out.

confirmed m15x works with nvidia 3d vision with gtx 260m.

i used acer as a monitor
i used an active dual link dp-dvi adapter (from dell or amazon)
i used the latest driver from nvidia website

just let your monitor warm up first to avoid some wave thingy going down your screen
set your m15x to max performance
COD: black ops works fine at 15fps max details( still playeable :) )
batman: AA sucks at 2fps ( hahaha havent tried to lower the settings yet)
movies and images works too.
expect some noise from your m15x though.
enjoy!!!

Can we use 3d vision kit with any 3d laptop(i.e. MSI GT680R-008US). as i am thinking to buy 3d vision kit latter on.

Nvidia 3d vision kit an be used with any laptop ? not asking for external display.

Hi

What is the heart of this thread? You need a DisplayPort to DVI adapter to enjoy 3D Vision an on external monitor?

But this will not work with 1080p 60Hz on nearly any laptop as they are at Display Port 1.1a (Nvidia or AMD < 6000 Series) or don't have enough memory (even 6990M has 2GB only). Also for gaming 3D on actual games (maybe in DX11 too) will even need an SLI setup of high end mobile cards. Still lower framerates are better than none. Or am i wrong at some point?
