Does quad-SLI work for standard (single monitor) 3D Vision? 2 x GTX295 (dual-PCB)
  1 / 3
I've read there are still some issues for 3D Vision Surround with quad-SLI, but has anyone got quad-SLI w/2 x GTX295s working for 3D Vision and a single monitor? I should have my Alienware AW2310 by end of week, and just want as much info as possible before connecting everything.

Wow... I'm the only one here with quad-SLI and a standard 3D Vision setup?

quad sli = 4 cards in sli, 2 x GTX295s is dual sli not quad sli.

295 is a dual gpu sli-card. So 2x295 in sli is quad sli i think.

I just ran the Unigine Heaven benchmark with 3D Vision enabled, DX10, High, 1920x1080p, 4XAF, 2x AA and got average FPS of 20 with SLI disabled.

I then enabled Quad SLI (single monitor Acer GD235HZ) and got average FPS of 45.

Seems like Quad SLI is working for me /woot.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':woot:' />

I haven't tested any other games or anything yet (just got 3D Vision setup last week) so I can't comment on performance with other games.

Quad SLI refers to two GTX 295 GPUs (each 295 has two GTX 275s on board). 4-way SLI is when you use the special EVGA mobo with 4 GTX 285s.

Thanks Peter - great to know! I assume you're using the latest drivers as well?

no official support with quad sli (there was beta support many driver releases back- but support was poor then and got worse with every driver releases since)- it might work with some titles now- but most of us ditched quad sli for sli fermi because performance was so poor in most games and every driver release made it worse. your best bet is using nhancer to tweak your own driver profiles. sometimes i was able to make games work with quad sli by playing with nhancer. you can always disable one of your cards when you want to play in 3d. the sad fact for me was that one 295 was faster in 3d then two in SLI while playing in 3d! my last testing was in the beginning of may- so it might have changed but since there has been nothing about it in the driver release notes the chances are very small.

quad did work very well in 2d- but there was huge issues in 3d

welcome to the forum peter!

Played L4D2 last night with quad-SLI enabled - worked perfectly, and I averaged around 30-50 FPS.

What fps do you get with one card?
