3D Vision Causing new gaming rig to Shut down! Whenever i play my games with 3D enabled my compu

Hello all
I am getting nervous here about using my Nvidia 3D vision glasses.
last week i bought a new computer and put all the parts together myself, here is the specs:
- BFG GeForce GTX 285 OC
- Intel Core i7-920 / 2.66GHz Processor
- ASUS Rampage II Extreme Republic of Gamers Mobo, ATX - iX58 - LGA1366 Socket
- Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 - 1Tb intern.
- 6Gb Performance Vitesta+ DDR-III ( 3x 2GB) RAM
- ASUS DRW 20B1LT DVD+RW Drive
- LC Power Legion X LC1050 V2.9 1000W
Running Windows Vista Business 64bit.
then i went and bought the Nvidia 3D Vision and Samsung 2233RZ bundle to play with.
I had no problems installing neither the Hardware or Software for this.
BUT whenever i play with the glasses, it seems like after 20-40 min my computer just shuts down completely and restarts itself right away, this did NOT happen to any of my games before i started using 3D glasses. ( btw, 1 time it even showed a blue screen with some white text for 1-2sec and then shut down)
this has happened for me ever single time i play, so please HELP :)
I Am really wondering what the hell this could be, i dont know much about computers hehe. But i dont think my expensive hardware is fond of this (doesnt it damage it?) :o

The problem might be caused by some of your hardware actually overheating (the video card or CPU most likely), did you check the operating temperatures after you play a game for a few minutes with the 3D Vision. Also what version of the video and 3D Vision drivers you are currently using?

Hey again
Temperatures should be all fine, i have an Antec Nine Hundred case with ALL fans possible to connect is connected and running. when i stick my hand inside the computer is doesnt feel warm, but cold - so that cannot be it.
Dont if i checked driver version that right place, but under "Device Manager" and "Display Adapters" i select my GeForce 285GTX OC and Driver version says 7.15.11.8250.
tho wether i checked the right driver or not. you should you know that i installed the driver from the DVD that came with the glasses :)

Hmmm....strange. First thing I'd recommend is running your 285 fan at at least 80% at all times while gaming in stereo. 3dV puts a real load on the gpu, it heats up fast and the card's native "automatic" fan control is nowhere near sufficient. If you don't have it installed already, grab EVGA Precision (you can use it with any brand gpu), it's very easy to use and will let you set your fan speed with one click.
Second thing is install RealTemp and keep an eye on your cpu temp while gaming.
It seems like you have good ventilation going, but I can't think what else would cause a crash repeatedly 20-30 minutes into gaming except for a temperature problem. What kind of psu do you have?

You should definetly update your video and 3D Vision drivers to the latest version: http://www.nvidia.com/object/geforce_3D_vi...ta_CD_1.08.html
These are based on v185.85 and a new version is coming very soon according to nVidia... this might also help if the problem is not caused by overheating.

Okay, do i just press install? or do i have to uninstall the old ones first? and btw, would a driver really solve such a problem? should it atleast only crash the game , and not control the whole computer?

my PSU is as stated a LC Power Legion X LC1050 V2.9 1000W. The store i bought it in recommended it, tho i have never heard of a Legion X before, and to me it sounds like "noobish" if u can say that.

i have now tested the software you recommended (EVGA Precision) and after i boosted the fan speed to 100% and played 10-20min the computer shut down itself instantly again. And when check the temperatures on GPU and CPU it says:
GPU Temp: 50-60 degrees.
CPU Temp: 50-60 degress.
So it aint overheating am i right? what temp would cause it to overheat?
and i even installed the new driver too, i am now running with 185 drivers. still the same.

Have you looked in the even logs for Windows under System to verify if there are any warnings and or errors arround the time of the Crash?

Yeah, those temps are fine. You just don't want either one to get above 80 or you'll start having problems. If your i7 isn't overclocked it should never get anywhere close to that even with just the stock Intel cooler.
That gpu, on the other hand, will hit 80 in 10 minutes flat if left to its own devices. Just keep the fan manually set when you're gaming instead of depending on the automatic fan control and you'll be fine.
Anyway, I agree with msm - the next step would be to check your Windows event log to see what error you're getting and what process is causing it.
Its quite plausible your PSU can't keep up with the increased load your gpu is placing upon it. What do you have installed?
LOL shoulda read your post more closely  that PSU does sound kinda generic despite the wattage it is claiming.
Well the store (which has a good reputation here in denmark) told me that i should get this one, because im gonna go SLI with 2x GeForce GTX 285 OC soon. so that PSU should be able to run atleast 1 of those cards, and im gonna be pissed if it cant go SLI, because i was told it could. :(

Lumpeh, and when was the last time you saw some type of cheap generic PSU rated at 1KW, i have never seen one... and LC Power Legion seems to be a pretty good PSU although the brand isn't very well know: http://www.insidehw.com/Reviews/PSUs/LC-Po...SU-Roundup.html

These are based on v185.85 and a new version is coming very soon according to nVidia... this might also help if the problem is not caused by overheating.

Okay, do i just press install? or do i have to uninstall the old ones first? and btw, would a driver really solve such a problem? should it atleast only crash the game , and not control the whole computer?

i have now tested the software you recommended (EVGA Precision) and after i boosted the fan speed to 100% and played 10-20min the computer shut down itself instantly again. And when check the temperatures on GPU and CPU it says:
GPU Temp: 50-60 degrees.
CPU Temp: 50-60 degress.
So it aint overheating am i right? what temp would cause it to overheat?

Have you looked in the even logs for Windows under System to verify if there are any warnings and or errors arround the time of the Crash?

That gpu, on the other hand, will hit 80 in 10 minutes flat if left to its own devices. Just keep the fan manually set when you're gaming instead of depending on the automatic fan control and you'll be fine.
Anyway, I agree with msm - the next step would be to check your Windows event log to see what error you're getting and what process is causing it.
