There's a new batch just announced at CES, if you're looking for the latest and greatest you should probably wait for reviews of those to start coming in.

Worth waiting to see about G-Sync and how much or if it helps 3D. Outside of that, based on your request, you should go with a projector. 120" large, zero ghosting.

Aren't all projectors still limited to 1080p@48Hz or 720p@120Hz because of the HDMI limitation? While great for movies (no ghosting/cross-talk with DLP), I would call this an unacceptable solution for gaming. Has something changed, are there DVI projectors out now?

You're correct, except it's 1080@24.

Resolution is only one factor in terms of experience, and I've found it to not even be the most important factor. Everyone has different requirements of course, but I'm here to say that no one should reject projectors out of hand because of the resolution. Initially, I was very concerned about the low-res 720p as well. In practice, it's actually 2x 720p because we get two images from different angles, which doubles the resolution. When I'm gaming in 3D, I never notice resolution, never notice jaggies. Secondly, the large screen makes a huge difference. It's hard to explain how much difference a 10' screen makes. Lastly, the ghosting being nullified is one of the most important factors for me. Ghosting ruins the 3D experience for me, and having it be actually zero is great. So combine all that, and you get a 10 foot screen, with zero ghosting, and enough resolution to not be visible. I'll say it again- do not buy solely upon resolution. Look at the whole experience. And IMO, presently the best experience you can find is a 720p projector in 3D.

I love my 3D Vision 2 kit, but when it comes to competitive-level gaming, I switch to 2D @ 144Hz. I can't imagine gaming at 24fps or even 48. So to answer OP, I would say the Asus 27" ROG that was just announced (if it indeed supports 3DV as most people suspect) if you're a high-level gamer
You're correct, except it's 1080@24.
No, it's 48Hz. Which is 24fps per eye, which is what you are thinking of. We're 100% totally aligned on how awesome zero ghosting from DLP is, and I wish there was a 1080p@120Hz (or better) DLP solution available because that's absolutely what I'd be running, but the pixels are clearly visible to me on a 720p projector (like my Acer H5360). AA can help reduce the jagged edges, but you still get the screen door effect. I also agree with you that bigger is better, but in this case bigger only makes the limited resolution more noticeable. I can see someone being willing to make this trade off to kill ghosting (and nobody wants to play at 24fps), but I don't want to mislead people into believing there is no difference. Sit far enough away or make the screen size small enough and this difference is minimized, but small screens is not what projectors are about!

I for one can't play any games on 1 screen and lower than 40fps... in 3D Vision (seeing Surround at 120fps and 3D Surround at 60fps..you simply can't back down) I know some people don't believe it but there is a HUGE difference moving from 30fps to 60fps and even 120fps....it's just soo fluid and natural... and you can almost react normally and in proper real time... I still own (the first generation of 3D Vision displays, 3 of them) and I am very happy with them to be honest... The resolution can also be an issue... I noticed quite a big diff going from 1280 x 720 to 1680 x 1050 even bigger when trippleing the screen... so a projector at 720p.. I don't know... I know some people recommend projectors for their superior image quality, I still recommend monitors though...bigger res (1080p or 5670x1080 at 60hz). I wouldn't jump yet to buy a new monitor (I'd wait to see the newer ones with G-sync and if it really matters..I expect not) before deciding.... Anyway, so far the monitors from Asus have the best performance from what I gather...

Maybe my eye sight sucks but on DLP I never see pixels. AA sucks at 720p but Im well versed in ways around that by now besides in a few games. I never have any issues with pixels though. Hearing screen door effect describing dlp is real odd to me. I've seen it alot on lcd but never a dlp screen and I've tried 2 projectors/1 hdtv. I could of sworn reading that DLP has the highest fill factor of all formats. LCD, DLP, Plasma. --------------- I'd probably wait for g-sync before deciding. Theres like 6(?) monitors coming out and buying anything seems a bit premature. Its a bit hard to recommend a projector nowadays when people are practically sploshing over 4k [though they haven't seen it].

Give it enough FPS, though, and it comes to life for my brain. For me framerate is absolutely essential in 3D. That fluidity is needed to convince my brain I'm looking at a breathing world.
