Currently what is the best 3D monitor available in the market?
1 / 5
I want to purchase a 3D monitor. Could you guys suggest me the best monitor currently available? I want to purchase as large monitor as possible. Is it the right time to purchase a new 3D monitor? Are there any new 3D monitors coming soon?

If you want a 27", its the VG278H. If you want a 24", its the XL2420TX, theres no competition seeing as Lightboost monitors are very rare.
Though, if you are after a big display, a projector may be better. I've not used one, but tests show they don't ghost at all, which I imagine leads to better colours too, as LCD's intentionally dull the contrast to save on ghosting.
There aren't going to be any new 3D monitors 'soon' because 3D is pretty much gone with the wind. Also, if you go with a 3D setup, make sure you check this site for fixes. http://helixmod.blogspot.co.uk/
Also, what GPU do you have? 3D is pretty demanding, you'll need to make sure you're ready.

Yep, VG278H. I believe you need to drop down to 720p with a projector, though I've heard they look great.
I disagree that 3d is "gone". Most new titles work very well after community patches, and there's an upcoming patch that may solve issues with newer games, as well as DX11.1 which is meant to support 3d natively. But it's certainly in decline in terms of support from developers and nVidia.

Not sure what cooky is talking about since theres been a new lightboost 3D monitor every 3-4 months.
Anywho, if your in the US. VG278H is a good choice. Its only $450 on amazon which is a steal since glasses alone are ridiculously expensive.

Which ones? The only ones I'm aware of are the Benq and Asus ones that are all rehashes of the same panel either with or without an emitter, and that one Samsung one.
Also I kind of took the OP's post as asking if there will be a new iteration of 3D, like how theres 3D Vision 1 and 2. Though new monitors may arrive they wont be significantly better.

ASUS: VG248QE, ASUS VG278H, ASUS VG278HE,
BENQ XL2411T, BENQ XL2420T, BENQ XL2420TX, BENQ XL2420TE, BENQ XL2720T,
Acer HN274HBbmiiid. The VG248QE
2/3 Laptops.
I may of missed some, not sure. I only used the "motion blur" list.
It only came out like less then 2 years ago. I think 2 years in december. Also, not sure what you mean by Samsung. They don't make 3d vision monitors. Them + nvidia don't get along and there monitors aren "supported". They made plenty of 3D monitors just not "supported" / lightboost.
Anywho, vg278h is the most widely used monitor + best value at the moment for size imo. Should check out review listed above first though.

Thank you guys for suggestions. I have GTX 670 GPU and I dont want to buy a projector because they are pretty much unusable during day time. Projector is a good choice if you have a dark room and larger work space. So i guess VG278H is a good choice but I wish if there were larger monitors available.
I enjoy my 2012 Samsung 3dtv in checkerboard over my vg278h in just about every way.
Could you please tell me the model of the TV you have? Is it supported by Nvidia 3D vision? Or do I need some tricks to get it working?

HDMI 1.4 compliant 3D HDTVs are supported via 3DTV Play, not 3D Vision.
3D Vision glasses do not work with TVs other than the Mitubishi DLP 3D HDTVs.

You can buy it $40 or it's free if an Nvidia emitter is connected to the PC.
I'd still encourage you to get a projector. Playing 3D with a 12 foot diagonal screen is epic.
I use my projector during the day, room is not dark, but I do pull the drapes. When I turn off eco-mode, it's bright enough to use. Contrast is not that good during the day, if that is a primary concern.
If I'm doing development, I also connect another Dell monitor as a 2nd screen.

I have a 46ES7500, which is a 46" of the ES7500 series. All the Samsung 7500 and 8500 series from 2011 on support checkerboard mode. To use 3D, you just need the Samsung glasses and to buy 3DTV Play (which also has a trial). The pixel fill factor is amazing, aka- there is very little screen door effect. When i first got it, i was unhappy because i noticed the shape of the stand positioned the screen closer, which would have been horrible if it was the same screen as my old (2010) Sony, where each of the pixels were winking at me. With the Samsung, i just noticed i've actually moved the TV 6.5 inches closer, putting it about 2.5ft from my eyes. Still looks great somehow. FoV and 3D really compliment each other.

Thanks for your suggestions guys. The VG278H is no more available on Amazon for $449. I am also looking for 3DTVs which support checkerboard pattern but it looks like all the TVs are quite big for my desktop space. I was wondering if there is a smaller option (32"). But I guess 46 inch is the smallest size for samsung TV with checkerboard support.

Hmm, i thought the smallest was a 40", but i don't see one. I think your right about it being 46". I guess you could wall mount it to get it further away from you or use an additional stand behind your desk. Before you go to all that trouble, you might take your pc into a store to try it first using the 3DTV Play trial to make sure its something you'd like and the screen isn't too big for you. I'd think you'd love it, even used very close because of the additional FOV, but that me going from my own preferences obviously.

Hey imarun, I can also recommend projector based on my friends experience. He knows me setup well, vg278h, and thought it was amazing. He treated himself to a titan (overkill) and a 720 projector. He says the difference is unbelievable. Playing with him every time for the first 10 mins online is painful, as he just laughs at how awesome everything looks.... That's 6 months after purchase.
If it's primarily for gaming and movies, get a nvidia 3D ready projector and a cheap 2D monitor for regular use. That's my advice.

I also noticed that Samsung 3DTVs are quite expensive compared to 3D monitors. I will see if I can fit a projector in the space I have. Are there any 1080p projectors which are supported by Nvidia 3D vision?
