Any experienced modders interested in Witcher 1? [non-shader related]

I spent a good day on this but no progress. This is not really my field. A mod for witcher one changed the flame sword cursor. Which got me thinking. That other cursors can be changed/removed. Now the witcher 1 is a great rpg that has a cool mod called First Person mod. Now the only thing is the cursor is 2D. But if it was possible to remove the 2D simple cursor it would be amazing. The cursor changes from simple to something else whenever it detects object/combat which is fine since the object will be close to the mouse. Im able to move the hud further into depth so it could really change this game that is great. Im just throwing this out there and hoping someone experienced is interested. Yes it would be great, I never played this game because of combat gameplay, but I would try it in perfect 3Dvision

Definitely worth trying. The screenwriting and voice acting is on par with Witcher 2 (ie. about as good as games get), and the combat is probably more interesting than Witcher 2, to be honest. The graphics of course are nowhere near as fantastic as Witcher 2, but should be pretty sweet in 3d

I think the 3D in this game is great - main issue is the one Eqzitara is asking about and that is the crosshair. Some water also renders strangely (some outside rivers) in that when you look at water and move, while you are moving the water rendering does not update until you stop so it looks like it's is flashing. I saw this recently when I fixed Fable Lost Chapters when I set the profile to Aion or Prototype (to fix reflections), so in the end I just fixed the reflections myself and it works fine. I guess it should be possible to do that with Witcher 1 as well, if a suitable profile can be found. @Eqzitara - So I am clear, is the problem that it does not seem possible to move the cursor into depth? Its also on Steam right for #3.39. A no brainer, buy it. It's the enhanced edition directors cut as well.

I came across a post saying that you can use a script to hide the hardware cursor, then use your own. But using this method, the mouse can lag. http://answers.unity3d.com/questions/8910/customise-in-game-cursor.html Maybe this method would work on games where it's not possible to mod the cursor within the game itself.

Thats for designing with unity I believe. It looks like they wanted a feature like the witcher to switch default hardware mouse icon. Im just looking for a way to remove one "cur" [Not actually .cur - was an example - whatever the game's texture for cursor is]

I may not be experienced but I sure am persistent. :) After downloading it last night and poking around on my 3DPC, and downloading it again on my laptop, it mainly came down to not being able to unpack the texture packages(bif) with the utilities that were supposed to, finding out what was being used and editing it. Once unpacked I was able to poke around a bit more, open all the gui_mp_* textures mentioned above, none of them matched, so I did a search for gui_mp_*.dds, found the following, edited it and as far as I can tell it works like a charm ... just unpack it into The Witcher's main folder, it should look like this: ...\The Witcher Enhanced Edition\Data\_2da00\gui_mp_dot.dds [url]https://www.dropbox.com/s/pqlr3btf6x6xi3z/The_Witcher_Dot_Removal.zip[/url]

No problem, I've been interested in playing this one through too ... eventually, might even see if I can make the rest of the cursors transparent, maybe 50% or so ... mind sharing the HUD depth fix? Or are you planning on posting it up on the blog? No rush either way, haven't had much time to play lately.

I have your first person mod working for The Witcher. The only issue I am having is the camera is jerky when moving around. I would like to make a guide how to play The Witcher in virtual reality, and would really like to show the first person mode working smoothly. Is there any settings you suggest changing to get the camera to stop being so shaky in first person mode? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for all your work thus far.
