I have a BenQ xl2420tx 3Dvision 2 monitor and an LG lg47lm6700 3DTV. Why is 3dtv play not available

I agree, it should enable, but it does not, even on a fresh windows install on a fresh partition.

Weird that it worked previously and will not now. Since you say the override swaps eyes, try overriding it with your own display. Download monitor asset manager from EnTech Taiwan. Then use it to get the EDID from the registry. Not the plug and play but the actual LG one. Then create an inf file from the drop down menu. Now use this to override the plug and play, hopefully it will work. If not, you may need to http://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/2774

Ever since using the Monitor Asset Manager, my BenQ XL2420TX no longer works in 120hz, even after a full OS wipe and install. I don't know what happened, but 120hz is no longer a choice in resolution settings for BenQ.

you must have done the override on the wrong display just roll back the driver on it, or uninstall and reboot

I did not override the wrong display, I was quite careful. However, I tried uninstalling all displays, disconnecting/reconnecting, wiping OS (including partitions) and reinstalling both Windows 7 and Windows 8 and 120hz mode is still not available. It is as if my GPU or monitor is not detecting a dual-link DVI anymore as 1920x1080 120hz is not available, but 120hz is available in other, lower, resolutions. In addition, I can add a custom resolution of 1920x1080x120 and that will work, but there are issues with it working with 3d since it is not a native resolution.

Some GPUs have 2 DVI Dual link outputs....some 1.....some none. Do you only have one and you used the wrong output? Or a physx card with no DL DVI that you connected to? You can go into device manager and uninstall the display driver, although if the profile was loaded through windows update, you need to run it to get the new profile. Displays are often shipped with half ass EDIDs. So instead of people having to return the monitors to have the eeprom reprogrammed, they can send an updated EDID to microft for implementation through windows update. The windows update profile will take precedence over the eeprom. Most monitors will ship with an installation disc that will install a profile for the monitor or you can get it off their download support section. You can use step 4 on this link to make sure that all display profiles are removed (such as EDID overrides) just in case you get to that point again, clearly the are gone now after an OS wipe. http://www.avsforum.com/t/1227161/edid-overrides-to-solve-bitstreaming-issues-for-ati-5xxxs

My gpu is a evga gtx 570 hd that has two dual link dvi ports along with display port and hdmi. I did not change ports. I will check out your link.

my link was more for future reference. Have you tried this? http://www.benq-eu.com/page/?pageid=4&plid=5&pid=1949&s=1 I hope you are trying to troubleshoot this with only the monitor connected, until you get it sorted. Once you get 120Hz back, we can work on 3DTV Play again. Try gently wiggling the cable/inputs and see if you observe anything. DL-DVI cables have been known to go bad and cause weird problems.

You're a good person for helping me out, I just want to say that. Now, if my cable is bunk, should I still be able to create custom resolutions that allow 1080p at 120hz? It does seem as if there is some issue with detection of my dual link DVI, which is preventing windows and my nV drivers from recognizing 1080p 120hz like it used to. I don't have a spare dual link DVI cable, but I did order a displayport cable from monoprice just in case I cannot figure this out.

I just wish we could get it figured out. Did you try using the driver I linked from BenG. I looked up support on the English website and it redirected me to their European site to get the display driver. Of course you want to comfirm on your end that it is indeed the correct one. Each pin in the connector has a seperate function, so if one was messed up it could be the culprit. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/6/65/DVI_pinout.svg

It works, but I had to create a custom resolution to allow for 1080p at 120hz. With some finagling I am able to get 3d to work, but it isn't perfect. Hopefully the displayport cable fixes the issues.

Perhaps that is why 3DTV Play wasn't/isn't enabling for you. Have you comfirmed that the display is listed in Deivice manager? Did you reboot after installing the inf/driver? If you create a custom resolution, it will replace the EDID profile for that resolution in most cases. So you might try 119Hz for your custom profile. That way if something changes and the display is recognized, the BenQ profile can be enabled.

Everything was working fine on my BenQ before trying to get 3dtv play to work. Something in my tinkering probably changed things. I can only hope that switching to display port helps.
