ok, well it seems that all the Steam Machines will be Nvidia based. That should allay fears about AMD chokeholding the PC gaming space into some kind of monopoly.
I guess we'll continue to see nvidia and AMD both being popular. And they'll probably continue to be relatively even, due to Nvidia cards having slightly more raw power, and AMD having slightly more optimisations from aggressive partnership strategies (eg. mantle, Battlefield 4). In other words, looks like it'll be business as usual.

Yeah sure it seems like AMD just have to use these optimizations to have a chance at competing with nvidias raw power as you say.
And it is Nvidia that have worked together with Valve on the SteamOS and update OpenGL so we can rest assured that they definetly wont go annywhere. In fact Nvidia and Valve will set the standard for others to follow :)

I was quite offended when i saw mantle first today. I was throwing these little insults at AMD in my head for hours after seeing the horror. They're just mimicking microsoft's ugly marketing strategies (with DirectX)
I hope nvidias response will be some "white knight" move like improving OpenGL, or making an API that outeperforms OpenGL & DirectX, is cross platform and doesn't require nvidia cards but does benefit from having them.

Amd
Microsoft
Sony
Nintendo
They all do the same thing. People get upset when the "other side" does it but dont care when there "choice" does.
