Will 3D Vision support the upcoming 3D Broadcasts? DirecTV
I do not see at this point how it would be possible but this month is our (the states) first 3D broadcast that will work with the new 3D Tvs

I'm just wondering how it can ever be possible to watch the new DirecTV 3D broadcasts with 3D vision since you need the emitter fired on and the source is not the computer anymore.

Nvidia 3D vision is a PC product, it's always been a PC product and was marketed as such. So the answer is no.

Sucks that this was cancelled, it might have been the best shot.

Might not have worked with Nvidia's 3d anyway, but there could be an htpc tuner workaround already out there (or another DTV tuner in the works) so if I had DTV and NV3D I woudn't give up on the combo definitively...probably worth some more searching if you really want to make it happen.

Of course you'd need to have your pc in the equation, viewing through it to your tv (maybe needing hdmi 1.4 connections) or on your monitor...and even if nvidia has ruled out support for 3dtv this way (don't know one way or the other), it doesn't mean that someone won't figure out a solution, especially as NV3D starts to build more interest.

Do you work for nvidia?

I know what the product is, what it was "designed" for smartass..... 3D viewing on a PC... I can watch TV on my pc via a hauppage card no? I already am!...

So thereby would think it CAN be possible with future software development. They did just announce 3DTV play for the games no?

Maybe Nvidia and DirecTV can work something out like they did with PowerDVD

this + 3D vision = sweetness https://www.directv.com/DTVAPP/content/dire...logy/directv2pc
My main TV viewing IS through an ht"PC"
Sounds like your setup has the best chance at working then.

As to bashing the responder above, a general rule of thumb is that you will probably have a better chance at receiving solutions to your issues if you are a little less trigger-happy in your responses.

So anyway http://sn.im/avsf is a good place to sponge info on this sort of thing, starting with seeing DTV through your PC. If it's any HTPC issue and there is a solution, chances are somebody over at avsforum has figured it out already. But if there is no DTV-HTPC solution yet, then you are likely out of luck for now.

To the OP...it sounds like the answer is yes.

http://blog.comcast.com/2010/03/masters.html

I imagine the channel cannot be encrypted or it wouldn't come trough the QAM tuner in your PC.....but definitely the PC is mentioned (along with the newer sets now being released). If not in this statement, Nvidia 3D Vision has been specifically referred to.

I concur with you and never usually snap, at the same time I dont let childish responses go without commenting myself ;) <=---Childish!!

Thank you guys for the info! I'm trying to avoid having to purchase XpanD glasses for my H5360 and thought I would bring up a discussion for people who are in the same boat. I can currently watch 3D vids/Movies/games... the addition of 3D TV when it arrives just doesnt seem to far off since 3D vision tackles all other media

Hmmm does the Nvidia stereoscopic player (or any that you know of) allow streaming of online content like they mention? I never even thought of just 3D TV by means of internet. Most shows put their episodes online these days anyhow, plus with the invention of 3dtv.com

I would love to someday cancel my cable all together since I usually only watch Hulu/Boxee/Netflix anyway

BTW: it was this article that got me questioning

From the question in the first post, you were suggesting quite clearly that your DirecTV was plugged directly to your TV without any connection to the computer. In this case, i stand by my 1st answer which is NO.

If somehow you make your video stream through your computer, then anything is possible but it will require new software and will take time to be developed to be able to either connect stereoscopic player to your DirecTV DVR or wait until the DirecTV PC software is upgraded to support nvidia 3Dvision. It may take some time.
