Acer Predator X34 (Curved Ult. Wide) @ 100Hz - Adv Gaming (AMD FreeSync) & (NVIDIA G-sync)

Source - GURU3D.com http://www.guru3d.com/news-story/acer-predator-x34-will-get-100hz-refresh-rate-support.html
Acer is released slash offering two 34" ultra-wide gaming screens, the XR341CK and the XR341CKA. These new screens offered 34" curved format screens with a 21:9 aspect ratio and 3440 x 1440 resolution based on a LG AH-IPS panel, boosted refresh rates and a selection of advanced gaming features including AMD FreeSync and NVIDIA G-sync respectively. These screens were released as 75 Hz screens, however as it now seems Acer decided to change the model number to a simpler "Predator X34" screen and there's a new spec, it will support refresh rates up to 100Hz. Reports suggest that is only available when using G-sync specifically, AMD users and non-G-sync users could only use the screen up to an expected 75Hz. The estimated first ETA for the 'updated' Predator X34 at the moment is the beginning of October for retail availability. We expect the price to be more than the XR341CK given the G-sync module, but a final retail price has yet to be announced.
Kinda interesting, thought I'd share:) ~Nutz

He also has a 4K G-sync, a 4K 65", and an Oculus, plus the dual Titan Xs, so why not? As for me personally, I love the idea of widescreen 21:9 gaming as a compromise between 16:9 and surround setups. The downside for these monitors is their lack of support for 3D, so that's why I chose the ROG Swift instead of waiting for these to come out. If VR is as good as I'm hoping, I might be willing to give up my ROG Swift and trade it in for one of these Acers. More pixels, still relatively high refresh, IPS panel, and no pixel inversion (which I HATE on the Swift, though with 2D gaming it's not nearly as noticeable as it is in 3D).

The Swift is nice and I'm keeping it purely for 3D. I want to try out an ultrawide alternative to my Acer 4k, but any monitor I buy now has to be over 60hz, with Gsync. It's also been over 5 years since I owned an IPS monitor so it would be nice to try one out again. I love the Acer 4k, but I'm pretty sure a 1440p ultrawide 100hz would be more immersive and impressive for the games where 3D isn't an option (which is becoming more and more frequent recently).

Does this monitor support 3D Vision? If not, this news isnt really interesting for 3D Vision users inside this forum and equally offtopic. Id prefer playing on a 17" 3D Vision monitor instead of these gimmick ultra widescreen models with 8k curved and other bling bling stuff.

IMO these ultrawide monitors are a handy alternative to people who want something like surround gaming without having to buy 3 monitors and the mess of additional cables and annoying bezels.

This forum is called 3D Vision and all around that its on toppic. A release of a non 3D Vision monitor isn´t worth to be mentioned here, sorry, but thats my opinion. Once again, I´d prefer 720p 3D Vision on a 17" monitor instead of all that other 2D stuff. Believe me, I got myself 3D Vision Surround, Oculus Rift DK2, had a look on 4K, widescreen and what else. Playing @ 2D isn´t worth for me to be played, so lets get back to business and thats called 3D Vision in this forum. Vote for close of this thread.

Not off topic for me, because may be interesting for 3D players who think that playing 3D (this way) is not enough, compared with new tech coming. If you are waiting for the perfect monitor to buy, you need to have information, not only about what 3D can offer, because maybe focusing only in 3D makes you choose wrong. I know there are people who prefer to watch a 3D picture of a girl instead of having real sex with her, but some other people just prefer to think about other options than only 3D.

im selling my 3x Asus vg278he 3d monitors so i can get 1 of these ultra wide moniotrs, i love nvidia 3d surround but getting annoyed at the lack of support for recent games, On another note i played Tomb Raider at 4K using DSR in 3D an it looked incredible, could really see the diff with DSR. Shame we will never get 4K 3d Monitors or better yet 3440/1440,ips,curved,g-sync,144 hz,3D monitor :(

There is also no Off-Topic subforum. Your opinion is great and all, however voting to close a topic just because *you* don't like it is pretty ignorant. It's not like the forum is getting spammed with completely unrelated topics, or that this is a thread that's been derailed. If every PC game was playable in perfect 3D then yeah, this post would be pretty irrelevant and needless, but until that day arrives there will be discussions on here for people who choose to have an additional monitor for non-3D gaming, or comparing 3D monitors to other tech - not everyone here is of the opinion "3D only or bust". 3D is a fantastic way to game, and superior to any advance in 2D regarding size or resolution, however I enjoy gaming too much to let 3D become the only way to play when the support for 3D is gradually being eroded. For a while I was of the opinion that its 3D or nothing, but now I'm more tempted to still play a broad spectrum of games on a decent screen, be it on my ROG Swift in 3D, or on something more impressive for 2D.

Outside of VR head devices I don't think there's any R&D going into 3D capable monitors at this point. So all the advancements are being done on 2D monitors these days, and the time between the present and the last 3D Vision capable monitor will continue to widen. I think this forum serves as a better home for 3D enthusiasts than a specific 3D Vision only forum. That's my .02 If 3D Vision suddenly saw a new resurgence with new hardware for us to gobble up, we'd (me included) be all over it.
