3D Fix Manager fails to recognize my installed game World of Warcraft
I installed 3D Fix Manager but it fails to recognize my installed copy of World of Warcraft. I added the path to Search Paths and set the Search Depth to 2. What can I do to get Fix Manager to recognize Wow on my PC? I'm running win 10 64bit and dx12.
I installed Fix Manager to F\Program Files\3d Fix Manager. I have Wow installed to F\Program Files(x86)\Games\World of Warcraft.
What is strange is that Fix Manager does recognize the game Lord of the Rings. LOTRO is installed to F\Program Files(x86)\Games\The Lord of the Rings Online. So I don't understand why it recognizes LOTRO but not Wow since they are installed to basically the same path. Thanks for any help.

Why would you want to use this for WoW? You have to use Battlenet to launch it anyways, which has multiple choices of Blizzard games.
Also, there's an official thread for 3D Fix Manager that the author of the app follows.
I'm Not Sure but maybe there isnt a Profile in 3dfm yet for WoW. I'm currently afk so I cannot check but generally you can See all Profiles by setting the search Filter at the left top corner to "All games". Type "World of Warcraft" into the search field then.

Hi Pauldusler, thanks for the reply to my post.
That explains what is going on, so thanks for clearing that up. I followed your suggestion and changed the setting to "All Games", and yes, Wow is not there. I see that all the installed games on my PC that showed up are all on that list. I didn't realize Fix Manager will only recognize games that are on that "All Games" list when creating a custom path to the game.
I am a little surprised that Wow is not on the initial list as I would think it is popular enough to warrant the time and effort to have it placed on the All Games list. Maybe it will get added soon.
Thanks again for your reply.

Hi D-Man11
I want to use this for Wow to install 3D Migoto to Wow and try to get the game working in 3D vision with dx11. I thought 3D Fix Manager would be an easier way to install 3D Migoto, change all settings, and make fewer mistakes.
I had Wow working in 3D vision with win 10 64 bit and dx12 many months ago. Now some patch changed things and Wow won't render buildings with msaa textures in 3d. So dx12 version of Wow is broken for now. When I had Wow working in 3D vision there was no option for dx11 with win 10, just dx12.
Since there is now an option for dx11 I thought I might get Wow to work in 3d vision by using dx11, installing 3d Migoto and forcing fullscreen mode. I'm hoping the msaa texture issue I am having with dx12 will not happen with dx11. I also thought as a last resort I could get 3D Compatibility Mode working with 3D Migoto and dx11 active. From what I read Fix Manager is an easier way to activate Compatibility Mode.
Would you mind showing me a link to the official 3d Fix Manager thread, I didn't see one or I would have posted there. Thanks for any help.

I was just saying to post there, because pauldusler often checks that thread, to see if there are any replies/issues.

You can read through it and perhaps find a solution to your questions though.
I just thought that it wouldn't work with BattleNet and Two Factor Authentication. But I've really no idea.
You can also try Chiri's Force Fullscreen tool, though it almost never works. But it does for some games.
SpecialK offers the option too, I think. I've never used it, but I think I read that it did.
Like I have said numerous times I abandoned my own fix for this due to them breaking exclusive fullscreen mode in dx11. I was never able to force it in 3dmigoto, worse even their own software cursor no longer renders in 3D. My fix was definitely playable and pretty close to being 3d ready so it was a shame.

I've tried WOW recently to see what all these posts are about.
Indeed, no full screen mode anymore, which is INSANE !!!
Are they really cretins?
I played through Legion and had a blast. Game has its 3D issues but once you get used to them it's quite great. But without full screen, now I have the performance issues as well, which are unacceptable in a game with such simple visuals.
I will not buy the new expansion if they don't bring full screen back. Maybe they just don't need my money, that's fine.
Also I see people talking about playing in 3D in DX12. Do I need to do something special for this? 3D does not activate for me in DX12, or rather it seems to do something like only shifting the screen a little to the side, as if only the perspective on one of the eyes is drawn.

From all reports it seems blizzard is going down the toilet, so dumb decisions like this is probably no surprise really.

When they nerfed Toy Train Set, twas the end of my subscription.
It was very OP, especially in the Alterac Valley entrance tunnels at the start of a new skirmish :P
I've just tried World of Warcraft in 3D and it worked more or less with DirectX 12. Only checked the starting area where the big tree rendered black with MSAA disabled. When turning on MSAA the tree was visible but rendered in 2D and the performance got really bad.
Shadow Quality has to be set to "good" and liquids to "medium". 3D looked correct then.
I've created a profile for WoW now. Will spread that soon.

Hey Paul, are you saying that the fact I cannot make 3D work with DX12 might be related to a game profile setting?
Or might it be related to the EDID override?
I noticed that when Fullscreen (windowed) is selected, the greyed out field called Windows size under it says 4096x2160 which is not my native 4K resolution. COuld this be the issue? Maybe WOW does not know how to assign the correct windowed size? (but actually it does that with DX11 API as well, so probably not the cause).
Any other games I could try to confirm DX12 behaviour? I could only try it in Shadow of Tomb Raider so far, but it's impossible to test because as soon as you switch to DX12, you get 0.5 fps so it takes a minute to press a button.

Hi Pauldusler,
I just want to clarify what you posted. You are running Wow in DX12 and after you changed the settings of Shadow Quality set to "good" and liquids set to "medium" you say 3D looked correct then.
Do you mean that with those settings you were now able to render the Tree (which is a building) with correct textures ( i'm assuming MSAA is turned on) and rendering in 3D not 2D?
Will you be adding a Wow profile to 3D Fix Manager?

I installed Fix Manager to F\Program Files\3d Fix Manager. I have Wow installed to F\Program Files(x86)\Games\World of Warcraft.
What is strange is that Fix Manager does recognize the game Lord of the Rings. LOTRO is installed to F\Program Files(x86)\Games\The Lord of the Rings Online. So I don't understand why it recognizes LOTRO but not Wow since they are installed to basically the same path. Thanks for any help.
