I'm with a curved 21:9 panel and to be honest, I'm thoroughly enjoying some 2D content on this thing, I have about 55 hours in AC: Odyssey and honestly, straight up, this game in 3440x1440 @ 75 Hz everywhere comes really really close in terms of a WOW factor compared to The Witcher 3 in 3D @ 60 Hz flat 2560x1440 with inferior colors, gamma and contrast.

Here we go again lol, come on cyclop guy, return to your cave! ;)
No 2D content comes close at any resolution to a 3D Fixed game @ 4K or @ 1080P for that matter but thanks to the community I have a backlog of 100's of games to play still

Anyone good at petition composition? English is not my natural language. We could ask to open source it... how they don't feel bad to block us and hostage like this?
To fill in a gap here, I've been talking off and on with the Nvidia engineering and strongly suggesting they open-source the 3D Driver. I'm not going to sugarcoat it- it's not going to happen. The 3D Driver is too tied into the regular driver to extricate, it's apparently not as simple as a standalone driver like you'd expect. Just guessing but I'd expect there to be weird stuff like bug fixes in the main video driver that enable games to run in 3D. DarkStarSword and I of course could handle any challenge to clean up the API.
Edit: Remove violation of forum code of conduct.

Done that already, after a few months he sent me Mr Klett who promised to show up here but never did and then no more email from him. Frustrating! I posted all this story already.
Maybe if ALL OF US would send an email with the exact same Subject (say 3D Vision) to Mr. Huang then we could expect a reply. I mean seeing a mailbox filling with same topic can't be missed.

On the plus side, the 3D Vision forum is still here.

[Section edited out at nVidia's request]
We deeply regret that nVidia have decided to discontinue 3D Vision. As you might be aware, there are at least thousands of us who use the tech on a daily basis as an integrated part of our lives, as well as a nexus for our amazing 3D Vision community, kindly encouraged and hosted on your GeForce 3D Vision Forums.
Certainly the 3DV driver has always had compatibility shortcomings, but you might also know that most of us are so engrossed by your 3DV technology that we have, over the years and through sheer dedication, painstakingly fixed most games to work perfectly with the 3D vision driver. We have made the 800+ fixes available for free to everyone in the form of our HelixMod website:
https://helixmod.blogspot.com/2013/10/game-list-automatically-updated.html
We can appreciate that, as CEO, your primary responsibility is to increase shareholder wealth, in which case killing of 3DV was the correct choice if it was losing you money, especially since the advent of affordable VR.
Of course, the entire community feels that 3D Vision far surpasses VR due to it being compatible with almost every 3D game including AAA titles (after the 3DV community has made fixes), higher resolution, higher performance, better accessibility, better affordability, better visual quality, SLi compatibility etc.
We appreciate that you might not wish to reconsider your decision as you will likely have a myriad of other reasons too, but we wanted to reach out and tell you that we all feel that 3DV is one of the best technologies that has ever existed, and it had a huge impact on all our lives.
What might be within your inclination however, is to help your technology and us as an amazing community stay alive: would you kindly consider making the 3D Vision driver (or some version of the 3D Vision driver) open source?
We appreciate that there are 2 parts to the driver the '3D Vision driver' and the Geforce Driver which has the API - of course we cannot expect you to make the GeForce driver part open source, but I'm sure there are many ways in which we can all work around that issue.
We just want you to say the 3 magic words: "Let's Do It!". The rest can be worked out between the very smart and very willing developers within your 3D Vision community and within nVidia :)
We have desperate hope that you will help your child stay alive and grow. Certainly it has been on life support for some years now, but rest assured, we are willing to take care of all medical expenses from this point forth, as we have been doing to a great degree over the last decade. Please, we beg you, don't pull the plug and let die your brainchild that we all care for so deeply. Please consider releasing her into the loving hands of your 3D Vision community, and watch her grow into something amazing...
Kind regards,
Your 3D Vision Community.

430.xx: https://images.sshnuke.net/2019-04-27_05-15-04_seXMUwf7R.png
this means that, not only did they just remove the "3d vision stereoscopy hook" and "3d vision pyramid usb driver" components of the driver (which operated relatively independently, as evidenced by the fact that they didnt need to be updated every driver version, the last one we got was 390.xx and it worked fine with 425.xx), they also went OUT OF THEIR WAY to RIP OUT any Windows-supported stereoscopy functions (which came with DXGI 1.2 in Windows 8) from the MAIN DRIVER just so that nobody else could provide alternate implementations for the auto-stereo hook and/or usb driver (or hack the old ones to still interoperate with new drivers). No DXGI stereoscopy support means no stable quad buffer support meaning any alternate implementations of 3d vision after 430.xx would have to do user-mode scheduling of eye rendering and flips, which leads to frequent eye-sync issues and juddering/flickering, while nvidia STILL HAS THE HARDWARE QUAD BUFFER CAPABILITY IN THEIR GPUs, they just removed it from any application's ability to use it.
i hoped that this wouldnt be the case, and that 430.xx driver would still keep quad buffer and DXGI stereoscopy support intact, so that hooks like 3dmigoto would be able to step-in instead of the nvidia 3d vision auto-stereoscopy API hook components, but it seems they just wanted to kill 3d vision COMPLETELY DEAD for no real reason (maintenance ? the components were already independent enough, and especially if you removed auto-stereo support there would be no more profile hacks to maintain)
big f u to nvidia for this (arbitrary and asinine) choice, whats next, just drop g-sync monitor support next year since everyone will have freesync by then ? maybe SLI since not a lot of people use that either ? destroys the concept of vendor-lock-in that they have used to keep me on a nvidia gpu since 2009 and earlier (would lose 3d vision if i switched to radeons, but now i lose it anyway, even if i get an overpriced 2018 g-sync 3d vision capable display)
This is exactly what I was thinking. The main driver's 3d vision support got deprecated. But in their defense there are several reasons, software engineering-wise, on why this happened. In such huge projects, obsoleting parts of old code allows you to fix things and make performance optimizations that were not possible otherwise and since you're deprecating a feature, cleaning up the code is the way to go. This obviously means that 3d vision is dead.
It may be possible to reimplement the entire thing in another way but unless they open source the stero driver, it will take a huge amount of effort and a lot of reverse engineering.

There are 10 types of people in the world. Those who understand binary and those who don't.
Mod Edit: Please do not solicit on the GeForce forums.
Alternatively, I have two standard SSD's, one boot and the other just with media, would it be possible to simply clone my boot drive over to the secondary SSD with 425.31 and simply go into BIOS and re-arrange the boot order when I want to boot with that display driver and back for newer display drivers etc. or is it more complicated than this? I'm basically describing dual boot with the same OS with the only difference being one will have whatever the newest display driver is to get a game to work (for example, the Resident Evil 2 remake demo had a black image without updating the display driver as of just a few months ago) and the other with the last 3D Vision driver? It doesn't address the fact that no games going forward will be 3D Vision but there is still a massive library of stellar games to enjoy in 3D before 425.31.
Mod Edit.
I mean appealing to his better nature sounds nice on paper but in the end these types of people, corporate leaders, only understand one language and that's money. Does an action make or cost them money? They could care less if they need to denude an entire tract of Borneo rainforest, if they can get a net profit of $1 by way of selling Palm Oil, then they will do it:

Now it happend. The actual driver 430.39 doesn't support 3D Vision anymore. No setting is visible anymore and nothing happens if you start a 3D application.
So it seems the last one which supports 3D Vision is: 425.31

You can if you have a VR headset. I haven't tried any yet but sView is supposed to be able to do it, as is Whirligig. There's probably others.
Or bring it up in IrfanView and go cross-eyed?
