Got my retail copy today. Uplay doesnt restrict playing early if you recieve it early like steam does. Like some others have noticed, 3d vision is pretty broken. Tridef with ac3 profile looks pretty good. Some minor problems with shadows and lighting, but from the glimpse of it id say its totally playable whereas 3d vision is not. I didnt completely max out the graphics( 1080p, shadows high, godrays low, AA off, else MAX), and didnt try the pirated version so i cant comment if retail is running better. Im using gtx 780 and i can tell the fps was well over 40 with 3d vision and tridef even thouh i didnt measure it. I played about an hour or so.
Can the game be forced to run in DX9 mode somehow?
I'm taking a guess AC4 is like AC3 and only DX11.
Hey Helix, where art thou? Long time no hear from ya. Since AC3 is now a year old and still no 3d fix it doesn't look too good AC4 getting fixed either. Unless of course (and hoping) you got something up your sleeve and you're not allowed to say yet. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Nvidia rating for this game is good which is funny because game is totally unplayable in 3d... its too bad to see nvidia the way its meant to be played game without proper 3d vision support :(
here are some screens - http://photos.3dvisionlive.com/tehace/album/528a8be9cb85770e1d0000ea/
ingame info claim that some effects render at wrong depth and that you should turn shadows off but there is no way of turning the shadows off ("0" in config file is equal to low within ingame menu).
looks like the game has the potential to be great but there is no way I'm not going to play this in 2d.
not sure if thats normal but if I copy either migoto or helix BI dlls into the game directory the game instantly crash even before launching.

I just tried AC4 with tridef I used the AC3 profile looks good all setting maxed 58 to 60 fps at 1080p side by side.
But it's a shame no 3d vision support.
how do I make side by side works with 3dvision?
It is not supported with 3d vision only Tridef supports side by side and top to bottom modes for NVidia.
Download the 15 day trail at tridef.

I have tried Tridef, but it seems not to work with my Asus VG278h. The menu is shown in perfect 3D, but starting a game gives a Stereo Driver Error :-(
just checking: You know that our monitors need to use hdmi and Side by Side mode to work with Tridef, right?
Also, I've had problems with Tridef not working for some games before. But I found that if I first ran a game that DID work, then quit, and then ran the problem game, the problem game would suddenly work.

So far I exclusively used 3D Vision (since 2009). Now that I hear Black Flag is running with Tridef I consider trying it out for the first time. But wasn't it Tridef is not compatible with SLI!? I have a GTX-690 in my rig. Am I right that I can forget about playing Black Flag with Tridef then?

Thank you for that information. I did'nt know. How is the 3D Quality with HDMI Side by Side? Compareable to "real" 3D Vision or remakrabely worse? Should be 720p per eye, is that right? Thanks again.

Thanks Pirate! I'll try it then. Just one more question: I somehow remember people complaining about Tridef messing 3D vision up so after using Tridef they had problems with using 3D vision. It's definitely possible my memory is wrong here but could someone please confirm that 3D vision and Tridef can be used side by side (not simultaneous of course) without interfering problems?

Works fine, ive used 3dv and tridef ror a long time. I do notice one thing tho, nvidia 3d dont start automatically after installing tridef for some reason. you always have to hit ctrl+t when the game starts. No real problems tho. Im using modded hmz-t1 with tridef(my screens cant do sbs) and projector + 24" screen for 3dv.

Someone correct me if im wrong but even if nvidia certified screens are sbs compatible, you still need to rund 3dv with tridef so the glasses activate?
There is a key for the registry that sets NVidia 3d to start automatically google it

It doesn't support SLI, but it will use a single card if there are two present.
