Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag 3D compatibility
  6 / 20
If I remember correctly, Helix did pop out of the shadows a few months back and released a fix for outlast that included a 64 bit fix. It's not up on the helixmod site but it is buried here on the forums in some thread. I'll try to find it and post back, but in order to be able to fix these new games we will definitely need a fix that is dx11 and 64 bit compatible

3D vision has been such a downer recently. Hope Nvidia really is not fucking with us and gives us something to look forward too. DX11, and EA's Frostbite 3 engine are making 3D gaming look like it's finished. AMD dropped the ball as well as they could have really pushed 3D with all there recent partnerships. Sometimes I wish I had never started with 3D gaming. That way I would never know how AWESOME it is, and would have been perfectly content with 2D gaming. Ahhh Ignorance is bliss. I wonder if I stopped gaming in 3D for a few months, if I would forget about how much better it is? Kinda like rehab for drug addicts. LOL.

Tried this out last night with 3D Vision Sadly the 3d in this game doesn't look that great despite the Nvidia rating of Good, shadows render at the wrong depth and Nvidia recommend disabling them, as far as performance goes it's similar to Assassins Creed 3 however in 3d vision at 1680x1050 with everything maxed out i'm getting around 35 to 40 fps with my Geforce 670 SLI and FX8350, I'm not really getting the next gen feel but I have only played the first few missions.

Just noticed after loading fraps this game is capped to 60 fps even in 120hz, not sure what's going on but turning vsync off makes no difference.

I found out that if you lower depth to about 30-40% the shadows render almost perfectly (in game, cut scenes are a mess though) and the game looks pretty good in 3D. Performance is good too, I get around 40-50 fps in 3D @ 1080p, all at max.

Here is the kicker PS4 reviews of the game are stating the game runs at 1080P 60 frames with hardly any dips. My point is the AC3 games and up are poorly optimize for the pc. According to this review AC4 was designed on Xbox 360 and PS3 hardware and ported to the newer generation game machines and probably the PC http://www.edge-online.com/review/assassins-creed-iv-black-flag-review/ http://forums.ubi.com/showthread.php/775123-Assassin-s-Creed-4-runs-at-1080p-60fps-on-the-PS4-Forums http://www.gamespot.com/forums/system-wars-314159282/assassins-creed-4-runs-at-1080p60fps-on-the-ps4-29406084/ Far Cry 3 with the Helix fix and all the patches is good example of an optimized pc game IMO

While the PS4 is running at 1080p 60 fps you have to take into account the visual quality, what kind of AA are they using if any plus PC has HBAO+ and softshadows and obviously with 3dvision enabled the framerate is again cut in half, there's no way on earth the PS4 could run this game in full 3D with everything set to max like on PC and get anywhere near 60 fps and also remember the game hasn't even been officially released yet so there's still time for driver improvements, as it stands without 3d vision enabled I am pretty much at 60fps all the time with everything maxed thats with TXXA x4, softshadows set to High and HBOA+ altho for some reason the game is capped to 60 fps for me right now.
Here is the kicker PS4 reviews of the game are stating the game runs at 1080P 60 frames with hardly any dips.
On its own, that sentence is worthy of fireworks and celebration, and should bring a smile to the face of anyone who cares about PC gaming, as it's what we've been desparately waiting for for years: the moment when consoles overtake PCs in power, thrusting game development into the future and forcing Nvidia, AMD and especially Intel to pull their fingers out so our PCs can re-overtake them and go to previously unseen heights. It shouldn't be a surprise that a PS4 outperforms a PC. They say the PC's lack of close-to-metal development means our PCs are about half as powerful as they are on paper. That means that if you want a PC that compares to a PS4, you'll need to start with an 8 core CPU, DDR5 RAM, about 4GB VRAM, and then double the performance. Very few of us have PCs like that yet. But I take your point that it was developed on last-gen consoles so isn't really a true next-gen game. Still, I've grown skeptical of people who claim that open-world games are "poorly optimised" or "bad ports", because I've just seen it happen way too often with open-world games for it to be a coincidence. GTA4, AC3, and Test Drive Unlimited 2 all got slammed for being "unoptimised". Almost no one could get steady 60fps in all areas of Skyrim at launch. AC2 and AC2:Brotherhood required monster PCs to run smoothly, as did Need for Speed: Most Wanted, GTA3, Vice City, San Andreas, Oblivion, and of course Crysis. Batman: Arkham City required a serious rig despite being quite small and having barely any NPCs in it (it also had serious performance issues at launch, as does Origins I'm told.) Open world games that run smoothly on max settings on current PC hardware are the exception, not the norm (the only open-world game I can remember running really well is Driver San Francisco).

In AngryJoe's (youtube) review of GTA 5 he showed the graphical differences between 4 and 5 and man it is huge! Both on last gen consoles. I hope devs will learn to take further advantage of the PS4 hardware as time goes on.

Later down the road Ubi is going to release 1080p patch. Here's a quote from ubisoft blog:
But why ship at 900p in the first place? To meet an essential goal: deliver a visually brilliant game at a steady 30 frames per second (the industry gold standard for open-world games).
Sure, we dont have low level API yet(mantle), but we havent yet seen a "next gen" game that runs better on ps4 than high end pc. I dont think pirated copies represent the final product, ill check the performance at the release day.

@Volnaiskra! You give the PS4 way to much bro as this is not the truth by a long shoot, doesent matter how close to the metal they go the power just sucks and I just wish it would atleast have doubled the performace as this shit will be around for years to come. In fact these upcoming consoles have never been weaker vs a good Pc as they are now so dont epect miracles as they are really weak. Just hope that SteamOS will take of so we wont be draged down to a shitty slow baseline like they will set or else we wont be getting any more pretty games then we Pc gamers allready have seen for the last couple of years!

I currently own a PS4 and AC4 I can tell you AC4 looks very grainy compare to the PC version and to top it off there is NO 3d support at all on the PS4 version. Another Note: The PS4 is far from a PC Killer, I will check out Kill Zone later today which is a PS4 exclusive JnLoader is right this is the first time I can remember a consoles release is weaker then an average PC.
