I sympathise mate, they are high in the UK too. It looks like nVidia website is sold out in USA, UK, and continental europe - the shipping date has slipped a few weeks for the next batch. If I was in the market for one and waiting on benchmarks, I would pre-order one now. If the benchmarks, when released in the couple of weeks leading up to the release date, are not impressive to oneself, then I would cancel the pre-order. This way, we get the best of all 4 worlds: 1. Get cards on the first day they are in stock. 2. Only purchase if benchmarks show worthwhile performance. 3. Prevent shops from charging higher prices if there is higher demand, as they did with the 10xx series. 4. If the prices go down, the shop will refund the difference, under UK/EU law If I personally was in the market of course :)

[quote="GibsonRed"]Just preordered the 2080ti £1050 quid for a gigabyte windforce. (Cheapest one I’ll stick a water lock on it anyway) Don’t even know how fast it is without raytracing yet...... Well I just seen the prices for preorder. :( Once this current PC is unable to play games I am not going to be gaming any more cost wise I just can not afford it.. By the time I save up for just a video card a year would have passed.. :( I know price is dictated by the market but I seen people pay $1000 for an iPhone there is no hope and I just don't make enough money to afford such luxuries.. At current rate of price increases in all things I will probally be homeless in 10 years..

From what I understand, Ray Tracing is actually a specification in DX12 and Vulkan, or at least soon shall be. From my humble understanding, nVidia is in-line with this spec, as will be future cards from DAAMIT. In theory, this ought to mean that next gen consoles will have some sort of ray tracing capability... time will tell I guess... One of my concerns is that right now, you need separate cores for RT, while other separate cores for raster. This means that a significant portion of the chip is under-utilised, and potential wasted. It's a throw back to the era of separate pixel shaders and vertex shaders - the GPU was tremendously wasteful depending on what was being proceed in the scene... until the Unified Shader Model came along. Whether even possible or not, in my humble opinion, what is needed is a unified approach so that all the cores can be used for both raster and RT processing on both nVidia and AMD cards.

Its sad how people don't get that they are the ones defining the prices of these things. If we all agreed not to buy The 2080 series the proces would drop for shure i think. And the phone proces are actually even more ridicilous. I remember when i bought a 350€ phone and was thinking this is the absolutely top im ever willing to pay for a phone and hey it was about the most expensive phone at the time. And i don't remember my income going up 3 times from that.

Yes it kinda sad but it is the way of things. I just will not be able to game in the future if things progress like this.. I was just speculating on the homelessness but it sure could be possible for any of us at any time is what is sad ..

Bunch of Debbie downers! I think Ferrari’s are overpriced but I still want one. There are other cards for gaming. Bo3b I’ll do some testing when I get the card. The higher quality supersampling is what I’m also curious in. The 2080ti was twice as fast as the 1080ti in the unreal demo!

Check out the DLSS here https://youtu.be/x-mVK3mj_xk I wonder if they’ll bring the AA out on other cards later like they did with TAA, or is it using those tensor / RT cores?

I have done some pixel counting (it should be more or less accurate if Nvidia did pixel counting too) and here's the data of the performance increase for non DLSS numbers, considering that there are 823 pixels between x1 and x2: Average 386.6 pixels -> 46.9744835965978% Median 375 pixels -> 45.5650060753341% Max 488 pixels -> 59.2952612393682% Min 274 pixels -> 33.2928311057108% Now I want to see benchmarks made by people and also about the 2080Ti.

So they are comparing a 2080 to a 1080 which is $350 less. Not an overly impressive comparison, but still illuminating. masterotaku's 45% increase looks promising... shame about the pricing. Now I'm even more curious to see what the 2080Ti numbers will look like... The price has been strategically set to reflect performance increase in equal measure. Just for fun: 2080Ti = ~$/£1050 1080 = ~$/£550 1050/550 = 91% performance improvement? Hmmm...
