3D issue (check signal cable)
Whats up fella's. I'm having a very frustrating issue and would appreciate any insight I can receive.

I recently purchased a Dell XPS 9000 Desktop 3d bundle which included an Nvidia GTX260 graphics card, 22" Samsung syncmaster LCD and 3D glasses/Vision software.

I accidentally installed Vision Nvidia driver over the orginal driver, instead of removing the display driver only. Now whenever I try to run the 3D application the screen goes black and I get an error saying "check signal cable".

I have checked all connections and have uninstalled/reinstalled the graphics driver a few times and it continues to give me the same error.

first make sure your using a dual link dvi cable. If that's not it try a clean install of the drivers. Delete your display drivers from the control panel/hardware, then reboot in safe mode and run driversweeper and make sure all Nvidia related stuff is gone, then run the newest driver cd from the Nvidia site. Hope this helps.

Do single and and dual link DVI cables look the same?

I used the DVI cable off of my Asus 24" LCD and connected it to the Samsung...

Do single and and dual link DVI cables look the same?



I used the DVI cable off of my Asus 24" LCD and connected it to the Samsung...

For some reason I found even the Dual Link DVI cable I had at home wouldn't work with my monitor in 120Hz mode...I had to use the 6 foot cable that was supplied with the monitor. My other dual link dvi cable is 10 feet long, maybe the cable can't be over 6 feet long in order for the signal to properly get to the monitor.../shrug

Well I found the dual link dvi cable that the system came with and I'm still getting the same 'check signal cable' screen.

So I uninstalled all Nvidia drivers and deleted any corresponding folders.

I installed the newest GTX260 driver from Nvidia's support site. I also ran the '3d compatibility' scan on their site and it says my video card is NOT compatible. That didn't make any sense to me...

I haven't had a chance to run the 3d vision software yet, I understand I have to uninstall the 'display driver' first. However, when I look in 'uninstall a program' I see a Nvidia display control panel, not display driver. Is this the same thing?
