Hello! The Souls and Zelda inspiration is there but it is only inspiration. GoaT is not a combat game at all; it's more of an RPG with strong stealth elements. In other words you're just a minstrel mouse and you can't kill your enemies. Then again you won't have to.
There might be some special encounters at some point but nothing that could be deemed boss battles along the lines you suggest, sorry.

It's a Unity 5.3 game. The game looks interesting, has anyone picked it up?

From the website..............
Why should I buy the game now instead of waiting for the final version?
That’s a fair question and the answer revolves around money: there’s none left.
Successful games’ crowdfunding campaigns can reach a few hundred thousand dollars, sometimes even close to a million. The campaign for GoaT brought roughly $40K of effective budget.
As some of you know I’ve been working on Ghost of a Tale each and every day of my life for the last three years and I’ve paid myself $500 per month. The rest of the money went to buy hardware, licenses and of course to compensate my collaborators.
Note that I’m not complaining at all; no-one is forcing me to create Ghost of a Tale!
Now we could very well start a new crowdfunding campaign but it would require quite a lot of time and energy and it would push back the game by as much. I prefer to put that effort into development. And given the advanced state of Ghost of a Tale I think the early access route is the best for everyone.
That being said I totally respect players who would rather play the game when it’s finished and prefer to wait for the final version to be released.
If however you choose to buy the pre-release version, know that you are actually making the development of Ghost of a Tale possible. Plus you get a better price while the game is still in early access since the final version will likely be more expensive when it’s out.
And if I’m still not convinced…?
Well, what can I say. How many games let you play as a minstrel mouse in a world that looks right out of a fairy tale? Which doesn’t expect you to slaughter anyone and instead appeals to your sense of wonder…? :)
If you believe in the game then please, spread the word! Let your friends know that the pre-release is coming very soon!
I’ll do an update to let you guys know as soon as the pre-release is out for everyone. If we don’t discover anything catastrophic during the next few days then everyone will get a chance to experience Ghost of a Tale next week, on Monday the 25th of July…

First off... absolutely gorgeous game, would be a great candidate for a 3d fix. Unity strikes again... It's running on Unity 5.3.5, d3d11, 32bit. I was able to force 3d fullscreen with 3dmigoto. Usual broken unity shaders, halos, shadows etc. I applied DarkStarSword's standard unity template shader fixes and it fixed the majority of the issues. Shadows are still broken as well as a few very minor effects like dof which can be disabled. Fixing the shadows should be good enough to make it playable.
As far as the game goes, it's probably the best early access games i've played, it's almost good enough to be a finished product. Amazing job for such a small team. They need funding to complete it so give it shot, it's definitely worth it.

For those interested in this game, you'll want to read the new article posted by the developer. Lots of work being done on the game, it seems to be shaping up nicely.

"So when is the next early access release happening?
We don’t know yet. But I just wanted to make sure you all understood that if this update is taking a long time coming it’s not because we don’t care anymore, quite the opposite! It’s because the changes are fundamental and require a lot of work and planing to get implemented!"

I bought it early on as it is the type of game I am naturally drawn to. It has played well and looked great since Day 1 and the developer has been very active in updating the code and in reaching out to the community. It has been in EA longer than they originally anticipated but, given the size of the team and their lofty goals for the game, it is not surprising.
Naturally, it would look great in S3D. I bounce in and out of it as I don't really want to make the complete dive until it is finished and am getting by with the Mafia 3 CM profile - which seems to work the best of the usual suspects.

Catacombs Raider.....The newest addition to the game
The catacombs are the burial ground for soldiers and commanders whose bodies were entombed over the centuries since before Dwindling Heights ever became a prison.
As expected it’s a dark, eerie place. No doubts quite dangerous for a minstrel mouse!

This game is on my radar and i will be fixing it with my Unity injection code. I haven't had much time to finish the injector over the past week but i'll be diving back in soon, so be patient.

Developer just did a major update for the game - really feels like a near-finished product at this point.
Unfortunately, it looks like he is now using Unity 5.5...
I've had pretty good luck with 5.5 games and my Unity fixing method. I was able to get 3DVision Direct mode working with another 5.5 game (Yonder, Cloud Catcher Chronicles), but I ran into other issues with the game (physics glitching out), it also didn't peek my interest.
I might pick this up and try to fix it if it goes on sale, I already have a huge backlog of games to catch up with so this is a bit low on my to-do list.

Let me know if/when you find the time - I'd be glad to cover the costs.
I've been playing Yonder as well. A lot of grinding, but the world is big and beautiful and I am getting a lot of enjoyment out of exploring it - similar, in a way, to Rime.

It's currently undergoing Quality Assurance Testing, but is otherwise finished. (according to their site)

Good or bad, they recently added volumetric lighting (Unity Engine). This new lighting is in the final build, but not in the early access version.
