No way to reset 3D settings for particular games?
  1 / 3
I can't believe there isn't something to reset the 3D settings for games... I was enjoying the 3D in the game TERA and I hit the wrong key combination and it reversed the 3D in that game only. There is a hidden hotkey for 3D vision to reverse the eyes in a particular game. I have no idea what buttons I pushed. I have tried so many things including talking to the useless customer service at NVIDIA who I couldn't get to understand anything... Anyone have any clue how to reset the settings for a game?

amazing.. this is the dumbest thing I have ever seen. Short of a format, there is apparently no way to fix this. Even uninstalling everything and reinstalling everything doesn't fix it because the settings for all the games I saved are still there and nobody knows where they are saved to.

well, I went into TERA and held down the CTRL key and ran my fingers across the entire keyboard and it reversed the eyes in the glasses again and it's fixed. I would still love to know where in the world the game info is saved at as they are not in my registry (100% positive) nor are there any nvidia.log or nvidia.* files anywhere on my hard drives. Also, I would love to know the stupid hotkey for reversing the eyes of your glasses in a game so if I accidentally hit it again I'll know how to fix it.

Relax and NEVER contact support before going here. This is something called convergence [I believe this is what happened]. CTRL F5 / CTRL F6 is default keys. This is vital you know what it is. Nvidia sets a default for each game but tbh you should tweak it for yourself. nvidia control panel->set up stereoscopic 3d-> keyboard shortcuts->advanced. Convergence is what gives the game the "3d effect". You may have to hold down key for up to 20 seconds for it to change. http://helixmod.blogspot.com/2012/06/how-to-unlock-convergence-in-locked.html Go to page. Look at left/right RE5 pictures. Both are recorded with same depth setting but convergence is changed. Also go to this site http://helixmod.blogspot.com/ for 3d vision patches. I posted a patch for tera in this forum[Not on helixmod site, I generally dont post mmo's there]. Im too lazy to hunt it down. If you want it got to find it. Can probably find it in my posted topics. Fixed some effects, ripped crosshair, other stuff.

Wouldn't convergence generally take more than 'running fingers across' a key to adjust? What if he's on to something? Did you catch what key it was that triggered it?

Ummm... unless I am misunderstanding the original problem, simply doing a clean reinstall of the Nvidia driver will reset all the 3d Vision profiles. It's not like we have to freak out about reformatting the hard drive or anything.

I agree with eqzitara, it sounds like the OP simply over adjusted his convergence and needs to familiarize himself with the Nvidia keyboard shortcuts. There isn't a default reset other than alt tabbing out or restarting the game, provided the new settings have not been saved. If the settings have been saved, you'll need to delete the folder they were saved to. Or, simply adjust the settings again and save when configured to your liking. Have a look at this article http://3dvision-blog.com/111-changing-the-convergence-level-in-3d-vision/

I know what convergence is. I have it adjusted in every game. I've been using the advanced key bindings for a long time. This is not convergence. This is where the 3D flips upside down to where if I turn my glasses upside-down the 3D is fine again. There is a key stroke combination that flips the eyes in the glasses around or something else strange is happening. It happened one more time last night and I immediatley hit the hot key to turn off 3D and then hit it again to turn the 3D back on and that fixed it. I was clicking my mouse keys and pushing one other button on my gamepad when it happened. It might just be some bug that doesn't have anything to do with what keys I'm pressing. But when it happens, it will only happen in that game. If I exit the game and go into any other game, or into the NVIDIA testing stuff, the 3D will be fine. If I go and rerun the setup and select what I am seeing through each one of my eyes again, it doesn't fix anything. When I go back into TERA the 3D will still be flipped (ONLY IF I SAVED MY SETTINGS WITH THE SAVE HOTKEYS). Because of all that, I believe it must be a setting in the games profile that is getting saved so that is why I wanted to know where NVIDIA saves the game profiles to, but it doesn't appear anyone knows where that is.

I'll look for that patch as it sounds amazing and thank you for making that! I'm loving the game and the 3D in it, but there is a few annoying things with the 3D.

Please read my earlier posts today. Thanks for the reply through! There really should be a way to reset the settings. I mean there _HAS_ to be a way to do it. They HAVE to be saved SOMEWHERE. I really wish someone knew where.

Pretty sure if convergence goes into negatives it inverts the eyes.

To reset/erase profiles, you must select the Custom install option and then select perform a clean install when installing the driver. If you do not perform a clean install all prior settings/profiles are restored. On older drivers, there was a folder in "Documents" where profiles were saved. NVStereoscopic3D.LOG I'm pretty sure it was changed in later drivers though. I would check, but I'm using an older driver atm.
Pretty sure if convergence goes into negatives it inverts the eyes.
For starters, no it doesn't. I have adjusted it to the max in both directions in many games and it doesn't do that. Also, I'm not pressing the hotkeys for convergence. I know what they are and I use them all the time when I want to adjust it. I'm not some newb. I'm a 40 year old who has been programming since age 9. I am a full on computer geek who has been running his own successful computer tech business for over 18 years. Computers have been my life. I could tell you from memory where just about anything is in the registry. I could write you a program that does just about anything possible in many programming languages. I'm not trying to brag here, just want people to stop acting like I don't know what I'm doing and I'm messing with convergence or something simple like that.
