I've been enjoying myself immensely with my new projector until three days ago when, all of a sudden, it seemed to lose its mind.
I moved it and all of a sudden was no longer able to access the 3D resolutions. Even more puzzling is that I can no longer adjust the resolution to 1280*720 @120Hz unless I do funky things with custom resolutions - something I hadn't needed to do previously.
The Nvidia 3d drivers seem to see the projector correctly, however the windows drivers themselves seem to have gone totally awol
I'm running two 8800gtx' in SLi with the latest drivers
I've tried changing the cables, dvi->hdmi, dvi->vga to no avail
I've tried changing the drivers
I've tried changing which card I am connected to, as well as which slot on the mobo the card is plugged into
and nothing seems to work
The unit itself is detected as 'Generic Non-Pnp' regardless of cabling, I can change it to 'Generic Pnp', and, while that does expose higher refresh rates for other resolutions, I cannot get beyond 60Hz for 1280*720
one thing I find odd is that the modes.txt file for the drivers only has support for 1280*720 @60Hz, and nothing higher than that, while it has higher refresh rates for almost every other resolution out there.
Has something changed with the drivers in the past few days?
Is this resolution no longer supported by the 8800GTX' (it certainly used to be)
Could it be a cabling issue? (I've tried half a dozen different cables)
Should it be identifying itself to Windows correctly?
And does this look like an RMA job? It certainly works fine as a bog-standard beamer, but I bought it for the 3D goodness
on a side note - can someone with one of these and Powerstrip let me know what the EDID is for this unit?
When you say you moved it, did u change the wire? although you said you have tried multiple wires you need to make sure it'a DuelLink dvi cable.
physically moved it about two feet - didn't disconnect anything
multiple vga cables with a dvi-vga adapter
multiple hdmi cables with two dvi-hdmi adapters
a dvi-hdmi cable
and a dvi-vga cable
I don't think dual link is required - 1280*720 isn't that high a data rate
I have managed to access higher refresh rates by hacking nv_disp.inf but I am having issues getting the 3d wizards to run now
May be you can uninstall all the nvidia drivers completely and install them again. Also do a factory reset on the projector. Sometime this helps.
I've ripped the drivers out several times, even installed a brand new OS as well a couple of times.
I seem to be getting closer, I can now almost make it through the 3d setup wizard before it complains about not being in stereo mode - which is annoying, because it's obviously in stereo mode.
and this factory reset - that the one accessible via the OSD menu? been there, done that
all this buggering around though - it is certainly looking like this unit's going back to the factory - it shouldn't be this hard - not when everything was working fine till a few days ago

I think I'm having a similar problem. For me it was working fine for several weeks. Then it started misbehaving where if the projector is connected, the computer will not boot. If I switch it to my desktop monitor, the PC will boot and I can then switch it over to the projector - but it no longer identifies itself properly. It now shows up as a generic 'digital display'. I can get it to run in various resolutions and refresh rates with the Add Resolutions UI, but that want necessary before. And even when I setup the proper resolutions the Nvidia stuff doesnt work properly.
I've tried lots of different cable configurations and then broke down and connected it to a completely different PC and got the same behavior. I think something in the projector went south - not a driver issue or problem with the PC since it wont even show the post and boot screens with the projector connected.
I'll be contacting Acer support on Tuesday after the holiday, but was just wondering if you ever got yours worked out.
-------------- Success ! ----------------
My issue turned out to be corrupt edid info. Solved with powerstrip and info from this other thread on the forum:

I can now run the setup wizard, and get 3d, but I can't complete it - this is a pita :D
