Warhammer 40k: Space Marine Demo 3D Vision profile supported? 280.26 drivers rate as Unknown
  1 / 2
As title suggests, Warhammer 40k: Space Marine demo on Steam doesn't seem to be supported by the 280.26 3D Vision profile. The 280.26 driver notes specifically note a 3D profile was added for this game. Not sure what the .exe is in the S3D Profile, but I checked the SLI profile and it matches up with the Steam version: Spacemarine.exe

Anyone able to get the 3D Vision profile to work with the Steam version? Thanks.

No one interested in this game? Any word from Andrew/Nvidia?

Played through the first demo scenario and it was pretty sweet....kinda like Gears of War mixed in with Batman/Darksiders/War for Cybertron. 3D vision depth/convergence values with no profile are off a bit however, with messed up post-process silhouette and inconsistent convergence values at different depths. I went ahead and turned 3D Vision off as it wasn't a very good experience with no profile.

I downloaded and tried the demo (using 280.26 drivers) and it was impossible to play in 3D Vision. It looks like Shift 2 Unleashed does with lots of double/triple images that are impossible to remove with depth or convergence settings. I turned everything down to minimum and it was just the same. Shame - from playing a bit in 2D it looks like it would be great in S3D. I liked Darksiders, and I suspect this would look even better.

So, now that the full game is out... can anyone test it to see if things got better?

This absolutely needs some attention! This game is amazing and I will probably be playing multiplayer until TOR and ME3 come out. Not being able to play in 3D is painful. Mostly, I notice some black shadowing in the left eye that's not coming from the right eye (IE. it's not ghosting), if this was removed it seems like it would be near perfect.

yeah, 3D Vision is simply not bearable. Even worse than Deus Ex HR.

Glad to see there's a few others who are interested in this game with 3D Vision. No word yet from Andrew/Nvidia on this yet and the game launched on 9/6. I have a feeling this may never get proper 3D Vision support or has been kicked to the backburner due to the fact Spacemarine is an AMD Gaming Evolved title. Just another casualty perhaps of this newly inspired logo program rivalry between AMD and Nvidia. First Deus Ex: HR, now Spacemarine.

In any case, it seems as if Spacemarine is Steam-only or a Steam Works title like the other recent DoW 40k titles, which makes it more difficult to change the 3D Vision profile by simply changing the .exe. I tried making some hardlinks and renaming the .exe using a few other names, like Darksiders.exe and DoW2.exe but no luck. I've had some luck in the past with other non-Steam games by renaming the .exe.

It'd be nice if Nvidia eventually exposed some of these 3D Vision flags to the end-user similar to their SLI profiles so we could make these kind of changes ourselves without having to resort to primitive measures like renaming .exes, or worst, having to wait for Nvidia to get around to fix them....

Great game, I've been playing it on and off for most of the day in 2D but I think it'd be fantastic in 3D. I too got a little bit excited when I saw it was specifically mentioned in the driver notes and was disappointed to have the "not rated" description come up. Hopefully something will get sorted for a decent 3D profile in the next driver release but I'm not holding out much hope.

Been playing full version fine. The depth has to be turned all the way down. If you are unsure it will run then grab the demo off steam. 3d worked fine on that too. off topic i would recommend getting the hard reset demo too. another great looking 3d game.

That's sad news, hopefully a 3D Vision profile can improve things a bit.

Thanks for taking the time to take and post those screenies. Unfortunately those results mirror my own and I wouldn't consider that worth playing in 3D Vision over standard 2D. Honestly, there's really not enough depth or separation at those settings to warrant the reduced brightness and performance hit of 3D Vision. If you just glimpse over your glasses there's virtually no difference between 2D and 3D. If we could adjust Convergence to give it more of a pop-out/toyification quality like with similar titles (Darksiders, DoW2) it might be worthwhile, but playing with Convergence settings simply makes things worst as the separation values seem inconsistent at different depths in the scene.
