Trine 2: the best graphics I have ever seen in a game!
I am sorry about making yet another Trine 2 post but I cant believe how cool the graphics are!
I guess because it is a platform game, where other games can only apply cool effects sparingly, T2 applies plenty.
I have been blown away quite a few times but had to stop playing to write this after going through a little corridor with thigh deep thick mist flowing along the floors. The ,ist was practically spilling out of my monitor. Amazing.

Not best graphics but best use of 3d ever. It seems like game was built around 3d. This is what happens when you find a developer who not only supports 3d but likes it. Three different "planes" foreground middleground(player area) and back background all with beautiful 3 dimensional graphics. Its very slick.

I don't know if "best graphics" is the right term for this, best implementation of 3D visuals and effects perhaps. Some games just do a far better job with per-object depth, effects and level design compared to other games that may be graphically superior in 2D but come off really flat in 3D. The Trine devs really seem to know what they're doing though and clearly optimized the settings out-of-the-box for an eye-popping 3D experience. The 1st one just translated to 3D really well but the 2nd one looks like they designed the game with 3D in mind. Most importantly its a relatively seamless and comprehensive implementation, definitely something other devs can learn from.

I totally agree with all of you, this game is the gem of s-3d, Nvidia should showcase it everywhere. All the elements, which are normally problematic have been handled beautifully here. Side-scrolling really allows for a wonderful experience.

Trine 2's poly-count might not be as high as say, TW2 or Battlefield, but Trine 2's FOV makes for better than current AAA quality graphics (IMO!).
It reminds me of the graphical step-up on the SNES when Donkey Kong Country came out. TBH the weakest element are the main characters; the NPCs are great!
Challenge:What game's world and world objects are as good looking as Trine 2's?
Bait material:
Trine 2's water makes Portal 2's look ridiculous;
Its NPCs pwn5 Witcher 2's digital attempts;
Its flora laughs at Pandora's in Avatar.
etc

I agree mostly. Trine 2's art direction and use of 3d is stunning, not to mention awesome gameplay, and I'm really enjoying it. Vibrant use of color, mindblowing depth, and LOTS of sparkles that just float right out into my room! /spaz.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':spaz:' />
But I just played through Witcher 2 after getting it at a best buy sale, and that game's environments blew me away! In the up close cutscenes, the texture work is amazing and super sharp, especially in 3d. I always had to marvel at the characters clothings and armors.
So, best s-3d experiences of the year are Trine 2 and Witcher 2. Both are stellar!

My question is how is the gameplay in Trine 2? To me it just looks like a scroller. Someone mentioned NPCs? Also, it seems like you have to toggle between characters. Can you just stick to 1 character? Are there different weapons in the game?

Yep, you should check out some videos on YT, there is a whole walkthrough of the game there. You could stick with only one character, but you'll be missing most of the fun and will definitely make the game much harder to go through, not to mention that multiplayer is where the Trine series really shines. In fact I would recommend you bring over one or two friends and enjoy.

I have spent a few moments marvelling Geralt's sword hilt and then the sword. It looks solid. You just don't get that in 2D.

What a gorgeous game Trine 2! And fun too! I am using custom depth/separation as suggested in Trine 2 sticky post and locations like in this s/shot attached just blow me away... (note - there even is a little rainbow on the right side:)
