Regular 120Hz TV for 3D vision?
I am trying to build a system, but I can't decide if I should buy a 3DTV or go with a monitor. 3DTV sounds awesome but they are so much more expensive than regular 120Hz HDTV.

How about using a 120Hz HDTV with 3DTV play set up? Is it going to work? Anybody try that?

120Hz HDTVs only have 60Hz inputs and double the refresh internally with various techniques that are not compatible with 3D vision.

3D Vision requires displays with 120Hz inputs and outputs (sometimes called "true 120Hz displays", in opposition to "fake" interpolated 120Hz HDTVs)

It's not a bug, the 120hz TV's don't have the hardware to take a 120 Hz input signal that 3d vision requires.

lol!! respectfully, you are wrong. consoles are certainly easier to set up, but are totally inferior. my five year old computer has better graphics than the best console. i am playing in 3d with a 65" 60hrz 3d tv in checkerboard 1080p60hrz, with a nvidia driver. you need to research more or just play with the console. It takes a small amount of brain power to configure a 3d computer properly.

what is really holding up the 3d gaming market is the consoles. the PC scene has to wait years for the consoles to catch up, so we are all stuck with low end 720p 3d modes and or stuttering 1080p24hrz modes on HDTV's and projectors. This sucks. my computer is begging for higher resolutions 3d gaming but the current state of the market is gimped by low end console hardware. i would have upgraded my computer this fall, but what is the point when no NEW 3d HDTV display can project anything better than 720p for gaming(i know there are small 1080p lcd monitors but i like large screens for gaming).

System:

Intel I7 920 overclocked to 4ghz

Asus Rampage Extreme II

Panasonic VT25 (nice 2d but I returned it due to cross talk)

Acer H5360 720p on 130" screen (the best 3d)

23" Acer LCD monitor (horrible cross talk- sold it)

Samsung 65D8000

I've got years old parts lieing around in a cupboard that I could put back together to build a more capable gaming machine than either the PS3 or the 360, and I do own both of them too, I'm not just a PC fan boy.

The PS3 also epically fails at 3D, it's not even funny.

That's funny a PS3 better than a PC. His PC must be as bad as my old one. I have come to hate controllers so a console is a big no no to me,although, I have thought about buying one again. As for the 3d tv's not working for gaming on a PC that also sucks I was hoping that they were the same since I saw it say 120hz.

I can't wait until I'm done with college. So I can cure this empty wallet syndrome, that college has caused.
