Elder Scrolls Online 3D vision compatibility

Did the 1.01 patch today fix anything for anyone? When FFXIV came out I dabbled a bit with helix debug but ran into some roadblocks which don't exist in ESO. This is one of the most promising MMO's to work well in 3dvision/3dsurround from a technical standpoint since GW2 and WoW, both which are great. Looking forward to some community input I'll post if I make any progress
Did the 1.01 patch today fix anything for anyone?

When FFXIV came out I dabbled a bit with helix debug but ran into some roadblocks which don't exist in ESO. I might have a go at identifying the bad shaders in the next couple of days and hopefully we can get the wheels turning on a fix/patch.

Firstly to summarize where we're at so far (using 335.23 drivers)

To get it working at all in the first place is still as per an above post
  1. Must be run in DX9 by adding
    SET GraphicsDriver.7 "D3D9"
    to UserSettings.txt in your MyDocs\Elder Scrolls Online\live

  2. Use NvidiaInspector and move the eso.exe executable from 'Elder Scrolls: Online' profile to 'World Of Warcraft' so it uses that profile instead (was also mentioned to use SWTOR but I haven't tested that)

The issues as far as I can tell are:

  • Shadows - have to be turned off, in beta it was fine but something changed in the live build, shadow depth per eye is wrong
  • Water Reflections - have to be turned off, again, were okay during beta
  • Something about the lensflare or specular lighting reflection off terrain from the sun seems off on each eye
  • Sun/Moon at wrong depth

As far as any major game-breaking/technical game-play issues go the typical ones don't seem to be an issue

  • Nameplates are 3d

  • Target reticule is 2d but can be disabled with addons (perhaps even fixed altogether)

  • 3DSurround users need to wait until addon authors can make UI elements moveable, I know a couple working on it. The other issue with Surround is the Vert- which chops NPC's heads off during dialogues, apart from these two issues it's quite playable in Surround. We may need help from FlawlessWidescreen or Widescreen Fixer (but that's outside the scope of the 3dvision forums)

@Zularan Shadows and water reflections were not ok during the beta. Actually there's no visual difference between the latest beta build and the actual release.
@Zularan Shadows and water reflections were not ok during the beta. Actually there's no visual difference between the latest beta build and the actual release.
Agree with that. I also think we can categorize issues in 2 main groups: 1 - the 2D layered objects that appear at screen distance with no depth:
[.]light bulbs are 2D[/.] [.]Sun/Moons are 2D[/.] [.]rain water splashes are 2D[/.] [.]Footprints (in snow) are 2D[/.]
2 - the 3D --> 2D processing effects
[.]Shadow's blurred edges (2D blur effect?)[/.] [.]Water Reflections (2D blur effect?)[/.]
I hope someone will be able to fix. In the meanwhile, you can set your separation level to low value to minimise shadows and reflexion issues. Still playable. Cheers

Agree with that.

I also think we can categorize issues in 2 main groups:

1 - the 2D layered objects that appear at screen distance with no depth:
  • light bulbs are 2D
  • Sun/Moons are 2D
  • rain water splashes are 2D
  • Footprints (in snow) are 2D

2 - the 3D --> 2D processing effects
  • Shadow's blurred edges (2D blur effect?)
  • Water Reflections (2D blur effect?)

I hope someone will be able to fix. In the meanwhile, you can set your separation level to low value to minimise shadows and reflexion issues. Still playable.

Cheers

Could just add eso.exe to world of of warcraft profile with nvidia inspector. I'm too lazy to find the post but I posted a file to disable crosshair earlier in thread to whomever needs it. ------------- I still cant believe they havent added fullscreen/real support yet. Doesnt sli not work otherwise?

If we don't get a fix maybe when Nvidia releases the new drivers & we have the fake 3d toggle option(mentioned in another thread & didn't state it would work with every game) we can use that. I would obviously rather have S3d but because my performance isn't too hot I would take a look at the fake 3d.

Try this game, it's a true RPG, not a MMO. if only we can have a fix for shadow and water reflections...

Eq Hello my friend! TESO was working fine for me with my 40" TV using the 3DTV Play in Feb Thx to U, Zippo and GE Force Forums. Today i set it up for 3D Vision, everything is kosher except that the 3D effect is inside out! You know what i mean right? The foreground is in 3D, everything else is 2D. Like when u mess with the 3D in Skyrim and is reverses itself? Like no matter how much u alter convergience it never lines up, and u have to quit before ur eyeballs crash into each other. :'( Can u offer any help bro?

Only thing I can think of is your 3d vision driver didn't install properly [it may have only occur in some games and not others. It sounds wierd but I've heard of it alot.

whoah! Maybe that was it. Cause i turned the 3D Vision emitter on and off like 10 times before i closed google chrome, yet never unplugged it. Chrome had this weird gray 3D filter over it. And TESO was rendering the sky, water, and distant background in 3D, yet foreground and all were a weird fisheye half 2D/half 3D effect. The game is solid now and i made a restore point as soon as it was so. I appreciate the help guys! Oh, and btw TESO looks best in 3D when turning shadows and water reflections to OFF, and (for me anyway) turning off V-sync. Eq do u think it is best with V-sync on or off? Hope i dont have to deal with this again, but if i do the first thing i will try is unplugging the Emitter and back in again. thanks!
