Hey, I just got nvidia 3d vision and would like to know how to watch movies in 3D. If you could tell a guide for dummies on how to do it (what program to use,what codecs, where to download them etc.) , i would be very happy :) Ive also read on these forums that its possible to convert 2D video files & DVD's into 3D. How would that work? And is the quality good?
Also if you guys would be able to tell where to get/watch 3D movies, it would be even better! /smile2.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':))' />

I dont have the energy right now to write you a complete guide ;) but I can give you a "quick-start-guide".
Im sure someone else (or even me) will be able to pick up the loose ends and make the "guide" more complete.
You dont mention how much you have done so far, so I`ll just start with the very basic;
1. Download the 3D Vision Video Player. Choose 3D Vision under "Product Type" and fill in the rest.
2. You can download some sample movies here.
If you want other movies in 3D, just Google "3D videos" or "stereoscopic videos".
3. To play them in 3D, open the 3D Vision Player and load the movie. Remember to use Full Screen on the video player (double click on the video once it starts).
Adjust the 3D depth with the thumbwheel on the backside of the emitter till you get the result you like the most.
Regarding codecs, you dont need any special ones, others than those you normally use to be able to play videofiles. K-Lite or whatever you like.
When it comes to "real movies" like Avatar etc, I use PowerDVD 10 Ultra 3D.
It costs, but its on sale now as you can see. If that helps.
PS! Avatar is not available on BluRay 3D yet and wont be a for a while, unless you buy some Panasonic stuff in December 2010 (at least thats the latest rumours).
Just so you dont start Google for that one. If you are very interested in Avatar, you can read more about that one on this site.
There might be other software (and cheaper) than PowerDVD, but Im very happy with this one. A BluRay player for your PC and a 3D BluRay movie will give you amazing results! Just make sure that the BluRay player for your PC has at least 2x speed drive.
It doesnt need to be a 3D BluRay like you need with those you connect to your HDTV. PowerDVD 10 and your Nvidia 3D Vision kit will take care of that.
PowerDVD 10 will also convert your normal DVD`s into (some sort of) 3D.
Its not perfect but it sure adds some 3D into it. Ive tried with Apollo 13 and a couple of others.
PowerDVD 10 also adds great sound, so in my opinion its worth every cent.
To get 3D movies I guess you have to search on your local (online) stores to order some. Not too many so far, but you should be able to get a few, at least.

Thanks a lot for the help!
I got Powerdvd 10 Ultra 3D now and tried to run Avatar DVD in 3D. It was AMAZING! Really! It seemed like watching it from the cinema! But after I tried Avatar, I put in Star Trek Blu-Ray. I tried to put it in 3D, but the button is gone and I can't find a way to make it 3D....
I just hope every DVD will have the same 3D quality with this program a with Avatar.
If anybody knows a way to get Blu-RAy work in 3D with this progra, it would be greatly appreciated. But thanks again TechFrog!

You may try this fix and see if it works for you.
Also try the following before you start the BluRay disc;
- Open PowerDVD player (dont start any movies)
- Click the 3D button next to Play-Forward etc
- Enable 3d BluRay
- Close PowerDVD program
- Start the BluRay disc
3D BluRay doesnt always run smoothly, so you might have to disable/enable it by pushing the On/Off button on the emitter a couple of times (just to "activate it").
I know I said that PowerDVD is a great program (and it usually is), but this workaround should not be needed for such a costly software.
I asked their Support about this a while ago, but they told me a lot of yada-yada, like uninstalling all other video playback software like Windows Media Player, VLC, Nvidia 3D Player etc etc. I found it strange (if not hilarious) that PowerDVD doesnt work if other players are installed.
Also recommended to install Nvidia`s newest drivers, as if that hasnt already been done....
Hopefully there will be a permantent fix for this issue without having to get other software (like AnyDVD) and even pay for it if you want to keep it.
After all, it costs almost the same as PowerDVD. And thats just for a 1 year lisence.

Im sure someone else (or even me) will be able to pick up the loose ends and make the "guide" more complete.
You dont mention how much you have done so far, so I`ll just start with the very basic;

Also try the following before you start the BluRay disc;
