No worries gentlemen, i have to wait until my son goes to bed anyways, so i have a few hours of 'normal' time.

To answer your questions:
I tried dvi to hdmi for the pc and hdmi to hdmi for the xbox360, all worked as they should.

No noticeable drop in sharpness when in 3d mode, of course the image seems darker with the glasses

In 3d mode, the brightness seems to be at a similar level to normal mode.

"nice, no ghosting at the top?? what size screen are you running with it? and how's the image quality overall?? man i need one know

you think it's smoother cause of gained performance with the lower res??"

I didnt see any ghosting at all, running at 720p with a throw distance of 4m and i get a nice 2.5m x 1.Xm image.

Smoothness, i dont know, it just 'seems' smoother, i dropped the res down on the monitor too, but the effect wasnt the same as the Acer

I will check later on with avatar to see what 3d method it uses.
But so far, its outstanding.
Seeing Killer Croc coming out at you on the Arkham death scene was well worth the price of the machine.
You must use a scene that stresses the system to be sure of the ghosting. Batman is a dark environment so is easier on 3d vision than most games.

I attached some screenshots here from Mirror's Edge. Please view them in the stereoscopic image viewer and report back. Ghosting is usually quite evident in the sky and in black lines on the floor. Thanks!

Congrats on your new projector!

I'm thinking of getting myself one for Christmas, I just have some more questions:

- What refresh rates can you choose from at 1280x720? 60 Hz and 120 Hz would obviously need to be available, but what about 100 Hz?
- Have you noticed any rainbow effect? It has been a while since I last saw a DLP projector in action (Infocus X1, if I recall correctly), but back then I used to get headaches from the rainbow effect within minutes.

I don't want to keep you from enjoying your new 3D experience, but it would be great if you could answer my questions! I'm really itching to buy the sucker, especially since I have all but given up 3D gaming on my Samsung LCD because of ghosting.

no problems, i would than happy to help.
it seems to auto choose 120hz in 3d mode, but i did notice in the nvidia control panel that you can choose various refresh rates, but why would you?
if you choose a resolution above 1280x720, the projector goes into 75hz 3d mode, which is completely unusable of course.

yes, i have noticed some rainbow, but nothing that would annoy me too much, i used to get very tired eyes the morning after a long session with the samsung, but i dropped 2 hours into the Acer last night with no effects.

loads of 'wow' moments last night, but the one that made grin was seeing a lifesize Soap talking to me at the start of 'Cliffhanger' in MW2. really really cool.

Hi all,

I have also just recieved the H5360 and can confirm that it is absolutly amazing. I have it hooked up via DVI to VGA and can confirm it accepts the 120MHz signal no problem. The brigtness does seem to dim slightly when you flip into 120MHz but not significantly! However, and this is the biggie!! NOOOOOOO GHOOOSTING!!!!

It's impossible to tell you how good it is without swearing! If anyone want to know more i'd be happy to help?

Hi Dogcam, me again, Can you please let us know your opinion of the ACER versus the VS PJ you had, on the odd occasion you got it working, once received and you’ve put it through it’s paces.

I'd like to know if the eulogising about the Acer is simply due to these chaps seeing a full size 3D image for the 1st time at home (as opposed to a tiny weeny 22” monitor), or the Acer is comparably that much better than the ViewSonic ?

Cheers.

It will be my pleasure.

I've just called Pixmania and asked them nicely to dispatch it today so hopefully it will be here before Christmas, although not getting my hopes up just yet.

The main gripe i had with the VS was that most of the time it wouldn't receive a 120hz signal and when it did there was some pretty bad blue ghosting in one eye. Also that i couldn't get it to work with any cable longer than the 3ft one that came with it.

So if can produce 3d like the viewsonic did but without doing any of the above, I will be a happy chap.

I currently have the Samsung 22" screen and suffering from pretty bad ghosting. Until reading some recent threads here I thought this ghosting was just a fact-o-life with shutter glasses.

You can put the depth and convergence up way more then on the Samsung with no ghosting at all. I ran the Nvidia test from the control panel and the spinny logo came out 3ft across my lining room.

Thanks for your reply! Why would I? Mainly for watching PAL movies and TV. I just hate pulldown judder, which you inevitably get when watching 25 fps video on a refresh rate that's not an integral multiple. So for 24 fps (BluRay) or 30 fps (NTSC), 120 Hz is fine, but 25 or 50 fps is only completely smooth at 100 Hz (or 50 Hz for that matter).

@ other H5360 owners:
Care to comment on the rainbow effect as well? I know it's highly subjective whether it bothers you or not.

I'm new to DLP so I dont know much about "The Rainbow Effect" But im guessing its when you blink sometimes it looks funny for a fraction of a second? If thats it, then without 3D enabled it does do it slightly however, with 3D glasses on I cant see it at all? Maybe the shutters in the glasses elimiate/reduce it somehow??

I have tested a couple of movies and it doesnt detract from the experience at all so dont let it put you off.

Just a little recomendation.

I was recommended to the GEOFORMS demo a while ago by someday i cant remember on this forum, but couldn’t get it to work with some of the old drivers, but i since had it going with CD 1.17.

If your looking to blow the pants off any friends with the 3D on your new Acer PJ's then give this ago.

Because the background is black and the object is on the centre of the screen as opposed to being near the edge which then brings it back into 2D perspective, i could get the object so it looked as though it was about an inch from my nose.

I sit 6 foot away from my screen. Even my wife said is was mind blowing, (she is easily pleased though thank god) /whistling.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':whistling:' /> /thumbsup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Hi Bartdesign, Where did you order yours from and where are they delivering it to?
I pleaded with Pixmania to get it to me for tomorrow but they wouldn't make any promises.

I'm normally quite patient except when it comes to taking delivery of new gadge.

I've ordered it at a local dutch hardware shop. www.triderium.nl; they even have 20 euro's off the beamer if you use the coupon code: ACER09. So it's even cheaper than Pixmania.

Just checked the website and they've shipped it already :)
