For those that want to, it seems that it might still be possible to get W10 for free.

Thanks D-Man11, I missed the deadline for upgrading my mom's PC and she's been upset with me because of it... all hope is not lost I see!
Anyone did test Insider 15007 build? (or 15002 where explorer didn't freeze?)
Cause they changed quite a lot again and the 3D Setup Assistant can't be completed.
You can't click on any option in the assistant (also keystrokes will not work).
If you click anywhere you just get back to desktop the assistant being minimized.
Anyone found a workaround for that (on actual 376* drivers)? Nevermind!!!
I did think about changing registry values, and yes, that is working. (StereoVisionConfirmed)
If you feel unsure, just use http://helixmod.blogspot.com/2015/10/advanced-3d-vision-configuration.html
Run as admin, select advanced tab, check "3d Vision setup completed" and save of course.
You still need to enable 3D in nv cp afterwards but that is possible now.
Also set up everything else (right 3D display, advanced keystrokes, ....).

After having this happen for the umpteenth game with Berserk and the Band of the Hawk, I've decided to finally inquire with you guys about an issue I'm having. Quite simply, the occasional game will not kick into 3D for me on my Windows 10 installation, but will on Windows 7. Another user on this forum confirmed that 3D does work for him on Windows 10. Like I said, this is not the first game... it's actually kinda weird that almost all of them are anime based games: Attack on Titan and Onechanbran were a couple others that I can name off the top of my head, among a few others (but the majority of games work without any problem).
I've tried using all of 3DMigoto's functions, like Fullscreen 1 or 2 (thinking it wasn't using exclusive fullscreen), force_stereo = 1, etc and none of those helped. I tried setting stereoprofile = 1 in the Nvidia profile, or adding the game's exe to known working titles, and DDU reinstalling drivers to the latest or older versions, so I'm thinking it has something to do with my Windows 10 installation itself (currently running build 14393, but this has been ongoing for many months and different versions).
I know the easy, and probably smartest answer would be, "so just use Windows 7", and I am strongly considering making an entirely fresh new installation of it and converting it to my dedicated gaming OS partition, but the stubborn (and lazy) part of me feels like I really shouldn't have to do that and that I want my Win 10 OS to be my 24/7, meet my every need OS... so does anyone have any ideas on what could be causing this and how to resolve it?

If you think it's your installation, have you tried a repair install of windows 10? It should fix most issues without you having to reinstall other software.

Windows 10 64-bit, Intel 7700K @ 5.1GHz, 16GB 3600MHz CL15 DDR4 RAM, 2x GTX 1080 SLI, Asus Maximus IX Hero, Sound Blaster ZxR, PCIe Quad SSD, Oculus Rift CV1, DLP Link PGD-150 glasses, ViewSonic PJD6531w 3D DLP Projector @ 1280x800 120Hz native / 2560x1600 120Hz DSR 3D Gaming.
Well, I did a full reinstall within the past couple months, and I'm pretty sure I experienced this issue before (along a few other ones, all of which prompted me to do the reinstall). Also, 90% of games work fine. I think it's just some small configuration matter, maybe a registry tweak or something... but since it's related to 3D, I doubt I'll find any answers outside of this community. I suppose I could (and probably should) engage Nvidia through a ticket, but I expect that to take quite a bit of time and hassle whereas I was hoping that maybe someone here might have something they could suggest.

Not too put too fine a point on it, but the illusion is that once you solve this last problem, then everything will be fine. With Win10, that's not going to happen. Microsoft can and will force updates at their whim, which means you'll get to figure out new problems again in the future. Windows as a service means that it is changing out from underneath of you, all the time. It will never be stable, by design. The days of a stable ServicePack that you install when it's right for you are over.
For Example #1, look at Anniversary Update. That caused a number of problems, including forcing changes in 3Dmigoto to solve problems it introduced. Microsoft is currently promising to do that type of release twice a year.
Sure, of course it's possible to solve the problems, but it's just a giant waste of time when you have a simpler solution available. This is my biggest beef with Win10- the endless series of small problems that waste my time. I didn't buy the computer to run the OS.

I have this same problem.
Torchlight 2 for example, works perfect in windows 7. Won't kick into 3d at all in 10
haven't come across any solution yet.
Windows 10 is real frustrating, I went months when all my games would just randomly minimize themselves while playing, finally the image started comming up "dirty". But no solution out in the wilderness of the internet would work.
Then in a moment of frustrated desperation I ran the Windows media tool to reinstall the OS. Miraculously it just fixed windows files leaving my system otherwise untouched. Games stopped minimizing....
This one is really annoying though, I don't see any difference between windows 7 configuration and the 10 one.

Not sure if this helps but have you guys tried switching the desktop to 120hz before running the game ? I've had similar issues in some games ranging from the red error message "Warning: Attempting to run ... something something" to 3D not kicking in at all. I'm not 100% certain but I think this happened only sometimes when I was using the OpenGL wrapper or 3DMigoto, and it always worked after changing the desktop refresh rate to 120hz and making sure that the monitor is in 3D mode. Sorry if this is not related :P

I tried this, and at first I thought it fixed the problem with Berserk because it DID actually load in 3D. Then I tried the other games that I mentioned that didn't work before, and it didn't fix the problem for them. Then I decided to try Berserk again, but this time with the monitor refresh back to 60 (and 3D not active) and Berserk loaded fine into 3D... so somehow it's just resolved itself. Anyway, thanks for that suggestion, I'll continue to try it in the future.

In my case, I'm pretty sure my desktop is always set at 120hz.
I wonder if this has to do with how 3d display mode is handled in 10. In 7 you have the option in the NCP to set "always on, or only when 3d applications run." But in windows ten it part of the OS itself and only having On or off, as options.
I also have strange behavior with the Monitor firing up in 3d mode when I am trying to watch full screen youtube when i dont want it too, and it cannot be turned off. (but sometimes messing around with multiple screens and opening a explorer window on another screen prevents this...

I think you're right it absolutely does have to do with how W10 handles the 3D display. I always set the registry options to 3D mode Always Enabled and 3D Windowed mode Enabled but that's just because I want the monitor LightBoost to be permanently active in 120hz. I usually have 120hz and LightBoost active when browsing or playing games in 3D (this helps for alt tabbing quicker) and then switch to 144hz to automatically disable LightBoost when playing 2D movies or 2D games but that's just my personal preference.
This is also why I'm using that HRC program to quickly switch between these refresh rates, besides the rarely occurring black screen which is another reason for me to have HRC running in the background since it fixes that issue.
Regarding 3D enabling when going fullscreen on Youtube, I've yet to find a solution for this except for disabling 3D completely from the NVCP but thanks for suggesting the Explorer thing (Microsoft Edge right ?).
