trick about making 3D Vision work on regular LCD monitor?! rumor or truth?
Hi,

I read from somewhere else that someone was saying>>
If you have an old crt you can make it work, just plug the crt in, find a 100hz mode and turn it on, then hurl that s*** out the window

so plug in a CRT monitor first, then put back in your LCD and it should run in stereo 3d in a non-120hz monitor?

~can anyone confirm this to be true or just a rumor?

You can enable it to run at 60hz with the "test" button in the control panel. It works on 60hz with the Samsung, but when I made my Dell 30" LCD try to run it at 60hz, it was a scrambled mess. It couldn't keep up.

When you say it works at 60hz on the Samsung, are we talking about forcing it at 60hz on the 120hz Samsung?

Shame, I'd love to be playing on my 24" like I was before the bundle. But 3D is too fun to give up.

does this mean that you can use nvidia 3d vision with an ordinary, but rather fast TFT at 60 Hz refresh rate? i.e. 30 Hz per eye ?

i was just asking why nvidia doesnt allow that option anyway - isnt it up to the user to suffer those 30 Hz per eye ?

i mean - this would increase overall sales !! i for myself would just instantly buy (if it were available in europe / germany, finally) a set of glasses, and testing it, playing around with. and lateron buy a 120hz capable tft when time has really come and more displays support 120hz.

but for now i cannot be bothered to buy a damn SMALL samsung 22" tft just to test 3d.

so please confirm: can i test / use my ordinary 60Hz tft with nvidia vision 3d - even if it is an "hidden" test option? thanks in advance !

No, it doesn't work. There is something different with the 3D ready displays that allows them to do what they do.

Some DLPs are capable of doing it if you already have that.

I thought a 22" LCD was going to be tiny (I have a 30", too) but when you're playing in 3D, I can't tell what size it is. It might as well be a projector on a wall.

Additionally, the realism gained from view the game from two views is 100 times cooler than gaming at high resolution (2560x1600). When i got my GTX285 FTW, my framerates doubled and finally smooth extreme resolution gaming was possible. This made me a little worried the 1680x1050 resolution would be a let down, but it's not. I can tell that further objects are a bit blurry, but again the realism and wow factors make up for it 100 fold.

Unfortunately, until a new display link technology is invented, there is no way to do 2560x1600 @ 120hz over a Dual Link DVI, or HDMI.

well, sorry to insist:

is there a mode that allows "testing" the glasses using a tft running at 60Hz, resulting in 30 Hz per eye ? i believe you that it will not work, but i just want to know if i can set it to 60 Hz - or to 80 Hz or whatever. what about people having an old CRT that can handle maybe 80Hz refresh, but not 100 - 120 Hz ?

at least a "hidden" option would be very welcome ...

Yes, you will need to get the 3D Stereo mode enabled by connecting a 3D Ready display. Then you can test it on your secondary display by making it the primary before testing.

Has someone tested nVidia 3D Vision Kit on a 60Hz monitor? Did it work? How does it feel like? Was there any problem watching 3D movies on it?
