The Witcher 2: Mild artificats, dancing polygons on cutscenes, Advice?
Hey guys, please help. I have polygons jumping around the character mesh when close to the foreground in 3D. Using Nvidia's latest drivers, clean install. Have messed with all the Witcher 2 settings but whether running on low or max same problem. W2 runs amazingly well, 3d is perfect, other than this one problem. The random polygons only appear for a fraction of a second and are the colour of whatever polygon they form from. It's only when the game is in 3D, when I disable 3d (Ctrl-T) it's fine in 2d (which strongly suggests its no a hardware issue as also all other games work fine). It seems like a mesh issue, with the mesh getting a little confused where it is supposed to be in 3D.
When the characters are a little further away from the foreground, they stop glitching and look completely fine. Turning the 3d depth down to 30% completely solves this problem, but than is closer to 2d than 3D!
I have tried everything I can think off, does anyone have any ideas about how I can solve this? Or does anyone else have this problem?

Ok, I have redownloaded both the witcher 2 and NVidia drivers, done a full clean of my computer, and reinstalled. Same problem. Tried a few other games inc Just Cause 2, Metro 2033 etc in 3d, absolutely perfect. Tried stock proc clocks, no change. The game looks 100% fine from most angles, just characters from certain angles when they are close to the forground (eg in the opening tutorial level, get right up to the hut and put the camera to the back right of Geralt and it starts to glitch at the right angle.
Can anyone confirm this? I have 3 posts on different sites but no help. Going to email support I think (they used to read these forums, is that not the case any longer?)

[s]I used to have to alt-tab out and back in to get things to look right, but im not sure if thats your problem.[/s]
EDIT: sorry, i wasn't remembering correctly. Reloading the savegame fixed things which broke after alt-tabing to use the depth hack. Alt-tabbing used to screw up everything. Again, just something quick t try. Doesn't quite sound like your problem though.javascript:void(0);

unfortunately not Libertine, I have tried that a few times (to no success). You don't have this game still installed do you? or remember something similar occurring doing cutscenes, close ups of people? It's weird as it seems like it's just me, making me think its a win 8 issue, as my PC is quite a standard top end single card rig.

I know what you are talking about. Jaggies(triangular?) shoot out of the models when zoomed in and the more zoomed in the more it will do it/likely. Im not sure how I fixed it but I had it happen in a few games. Can try a different profile theres a guide on helixmod site for farcry 3.
(I have no idea which one is attached to game atm)
Or try into nvidia control panel->manage 3d settings->maximum pre-rendered framses = 1 .It helped me with a similiar issue.
This happened to me in dragon age 2/ blades of time and I know this happened to some other person in witcher 2. not sure if it was solved but he posted a thread here.

eqzitara, I've seen you on here a few times helping out guys, seriously you along with Helix are legends. Haven't got time to check out your ideas tonight but yes that's exactly my problem! it's nothing game breaking but it spoils an otherwise spectacular game when the characters are zoomed in (more little triangular jaggies the closer they are to the screen). Anyway thanks a bunch and hopefully I will get to the bottom of this and then be maybe help out the next guy.

Ah I could kiss you! I have wasted a lot of the day, and bandwidth (18Gb) trying to sort this out, and within 10 minutes of your help I have a solution (I decided that I couldn't sleep until I tried)
Setting maximum pre-rendered frames = 1 did not help
Deleting the NVidia profile did not help
My Fix? Setting the profile to witcher 1 using "Nvidiainspector.exe" Seems like that fixes it 100%
As a thank you to myself I think I will restart the game (only 6 hours in, but it distracted me during a lot of the cutscenes.
As a thank you to you, a beer if we ever cross paths! cheers eqzitara, job done.

NP. Thanks for letting me know, will let others know. I knew it was solvable but really couldnt remember how. When I rain into your same issue I tried both blades of time / dragon age 2 within days of one another and I actually thought my video card was busted...
Its is seriously the #1 problem I have with 3d vision. Heres what happens with profiles. You try a game on a non-sli system and say its broken. I try it on a sli system and say your crazy it works. 99% of the solutions are tied to profiles where it works for one and not the other. Not to mention games with wrong profiles and I think Nvidia just does the first one that appears right......
BTW it was exactly same in dragon age 2. I actually wrote about it(I forgot I did)
IF YOU EXPERIENCE TEXTURE "CLIPPING"
Rename DragonAge2.exe -> DAOrigins.exe
Or
Use nvidia inspector. Remove Dragonage2.exe from Dragon Age 2 Profile
Add Dragonage2.exe to Dragon Age Origins Profile.

"Nvidia just does the first one that appears right......"
Have to admit, if it wasn't for the amazing community I would pretty annoyed with Nvidia. Their profiles seem to only feck up games, or stop you from playing completely. Another example is Driver san Fran, where their profile locks convergence as something so deep its essentially 2D plus depth.
I love my system, and overall I would say 2D experience with Nvidia has been great, and they seem to work hard on 2D drivers, but I feel they are overselling 3D Vision (witcher 2 marked as 3D ready at launch for example) when they are not supporting it as much as they market it. With new consoles hopefully 3D in 2013 and with Oculus Rift in 2014 I really hope that 3D is given the treatment from the ground up it deserves.
Anyway, thanks again eqzitara, as I said, if it wasn't for the great community and Helix mods, I wouldn't any where near as happy with my purchase.
