Where's the 3D stereo control panel?
Help!

I'm running a GeForce 8600GT on WinXP with ForceWare v175.70, and I'm trying to get the 3D stereo working with a pair of eDimensional shutter glasses.

I've loaded in v162.50 of the nvidia 3D stereo drivers, which is the latest WinXP version I could find on the web, but I can't find the 3D stereo control panel anywhere to enable it.... /no.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':no:' />

If I look in the regsitry, there's entries for Nvidia 3D stereo in there. If I look in Add/Remove programs, the 3d stereo drivers are listed.

The Nvidia 3d stereo documentation says that it's accessed from a tab on the nVidia control panel, but the NVidia control panel in the documentation (and all the instructions I've looked at on the web) looks completely different from the one I have (see attached jpeg).

I've also attached a jpeg of the relevant bit of my registry.

Can anyone help?

Hi Tim,

for accessing the Stereo3D options, you'd need to enable the old control panel via the registry:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\NVIDIA Corporation\Global\NvCplApi\Policies]
"ContextUIPolicy"=dword:00000001
"CplGroupUIPolicy"=dword:00000001
btw, here's an excellent guide to get Stereo3D working on 8x00 cards:

Fantastic! Managed to get the 3D panel up - finally I'm moving forwards on this. :D

Just a shame NVidia couldn't put that in their manual (or even make them available on the new control panel!!!!!!)

Getting a reset when I start a 3D app, but I haven't fully read the info in the link yet - have to try and find some time this weekend. Reinstalling the drivers with the recommended versions is probably a good starting point...... :lol:

Thanks for helping.....but I expect I'll be back soon.....

Nope - I give up on this. All I'm getting is a black screen, a windows reset and a "Windows recovered form a serious error" on restart. /no.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':no:' />

I can get the glasses to work with the eDimensional drivers which allow me to view my stereoscopic pictures interlaced (not ideal, I'd prefer page-flipping if that's the right word), but viewing 3D pictures is what I bought them for. I guess I was hoping to get the 3D games going, but I'll just have to stick with 2D...........

You really need to read the guide at the mtbs3d forums. However i don't think it works with your 8600. :(. Since you have it you can give it a shot. You need nhancer and also remember to run the medical test or the stereo test before running a game. For some reason this makes the stereoplayer working for me and i'm having a 7900 card.

I tried the guide at the mtbs3d forums but whenever I try the medical test, I just get a black screen, windows reset and a "Windows has recovered from a serious error" message when it restarts.

According to the email I've just got from NVidia support, v162.50 of the stereo drivers don't support the eDimensional shutter glasses, so I guess that's the end of that.

did you also regard paragraph 4 of VadersApp's guide ?
4. DONT forget to force vsync to on (did it in nhancer), otherwise you´ll get blackscreen.
You really need to take all the described steps to get a chance of making it work out right.

If you still struggle, you should register over at MTBS and ask for further assistance there ...
