glasses for a tft display?
Hi there!

I'm new in this forum and I've got a question about the hardware.
I've got an Elsa Revelator 3D Glasses and an samsung 17" tft display. Does this work together? Or do I need special glasses for a tft display?

If I need new ones...which would you recommend?

thx!

I'd recommend buying a nice pair of anaglyph glasses and using those. There is one brand of shutterglasses that 'work' with TFT's but they don't work very well at all.

If you simply must have shutterglasses then E-Dimensional sell them, but you have been warned!

It better be.

Trouble with the shutter glasses is that they are polarized LCDs, and a TFT is also polarized by the way it works. If you''re lucky you can see the screen, but by all reports the low refresh rate (60Hz normaly) means bad flicker. This is what most people have reported that own shutter glasses and a TFT. The other users just find that they cannot see the screen at all because of the polarization.

Anaglyphic glasses are those red/cyan glasses that used to come free with random things. You can pick up a decent plastic pair with stronger colour filters very cheaply. These are the only things that will work with a single TFT but you will have some loss of colour due to the colour filters. Also you will find that you can get some ghosting of the red colours if there are any white/light objects around. Also strong red objects have an unfortunate tendancy to 'shimmer' when you look at them. But dispite this, the glasses are so cheap it doesn't really matter.

If only the nVidia drivers supported half-colour anaglyphs. The shimmer would be gone and the ghosting reduced.

Alternativly you could pick up a crt with a high refresh for not too much cost specificaly for 3d stereo.

Is there any problem using anaglyph glasses for a long time?. I have a good pair of plastic anaglyphs, but I use it only to test... and the result is good, but seem that using a red filter in one eye and a cyan filter in the other is not very natural. Is it really danger if a person uses this for example 2 hours per day?.
