viewsonic VX2268WM vertical blur line in 120hz and 3D mode
Hello everyone
I just bought the 3D vision set a week ago.
The 3D effect looks really nice, but I still have one problem left to solve.
Whenever I switch the monitor to 120hz mode or lunch game in 3D mode, the screen will turn dark and blur and having this vertical lines all over it.
I have never use a 120hz screen before so I thought this was normal, but it has made me really difficult to see the displayed words in the game.
I did try to look on the internet to find if there is any similar problem people have, but the closest problem I can find is the grainy texture problem on samsung 120hz monitor on this thread.
http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=90154
It did not really helped me and my problem seems more serious than this.
I have updated all the driver to the latest, but the problem is still there.
Then I begin to think maybe I have got a faulty monitor, so I try the monitor on my old desktop and change the setting to 120hz.
The screen turned out normal(This was connected with VGA cable), unlike on my current desktop, blur and dark.
Due to my old desktop only have a 7600GS, so I was unable to run a 3D mode test.
So now I'm just guessing it might be the graphic card or driver's problem.
What I need to find out really soon is if it is the monitor's problem so I can return for a new one, and if not, is there anyway I can fix this problem.
Hoping to hear from someone who have the similar problem and have a way to solve it soon.
Thanks

That seems quite worse than the "horizontal lines" phenomena. You say you have tested another monitor at 120 Hz, I guess it is a CRT? or another viewsonic VX2268WM? or the samsung RZ2233?
Anyway, first I though maybe something about bad drivers installation (it could always be...) but if you really tried it with another 3D Vision ready LCD monitor I think that you have a faulty unit. If you are close to the limit date to return easily your screens (to shop, and get a new one) then if I was you, I would go before the expire date, I mean not to wait too much for answer and loose your chance of getting a fast exchange
In any case, these lines are NOT bearable. That's not normal, imo.
Hopefully some of the folks here with viewsonic monitors could answer, it would help the most. Unhappily I don't have a viewsonic to test myself.

Thank you for the respond.
It's very kind of you.
I didn't test another monitor at 120hz.
What I did is I tested the same monitor on my another pc in 100-120hz mode, and it went well(the screen was clear as normal in 100-120hz).
So the vertical line thing only happens on my current pc, and I have no idea what caused it.
One thing to mention is that the old pc control panel doesn't have a 120hz mode in the nvidia control panel.(it only has 60-75hz option)
I had to add the 120hz mode manually into the control panel, and since it's still looks the same when running in 120hz mode.
I had no idea that whether it was running well in 120hz or it was not running in 120hz at all.
I do not know any way to prove that it was really running in 120hz.
I bought this bundle from the internet store, so it would be complicated and take really long time to return it and get a new one, so I just wanted to be sure before I do this.

Ok I understand now. Have you tested in your PC, to put it to 120 Hz BUT with stereoscopic effects turned off in the control panel?
As you say, it could be that in the other pc the screen was not at 120 Hz but it could be that it was, and in fact the effect is caused by the drivers.
Another thing. When reinstalling drivers...have you run Driver Sweeper, Driver CLeaner .net or equivalent? For me, using them (in safe mode), has solved strange problems sometimes.

I didn't use the driver sweeper or any of those program.
I simply just uninstalled all the nvidia related program form windows control panel.
I will try to use the program you said today and see how will it go.
Thanks.
That definitely looks like a cable issue. I assume you used a VGA cable on your other setup?
Yes, I use the VGA cable for the old pc, and I tested it with the VGA cable.
Is it because VGA cable can not run 120hz so the monitor didn't have the same problem?
Thanks.

Have you try to use the DUAL dvi cable provided whith the screen ?
I had got the same problem until i stop to use my old "single" dvi cable which was connected from my pc to my my old lcd screen.

It worked!!
I didn't know there were different types of DVI cable, so I was using the one I had before.
Now that I changed it into the DUAL DVI cable, It became much much more clear now.
Although the vertical lines are gone, now I have the same grainy texture issue from the link I gave on the top.
Still, it's way much better than before, I guess I can live with this grainy texture.
Thanks for everyone's help!
Hey hey...I was wondering if anyone can help me with this as well...
I've been having the exact same issue with my Viewsonic monitor....works fine in 60hz but in 100hz or more it gets vertical lines and while i can game in 3d like this any small text or details are garbled...
I am using the Dual DVI cable that came with the unit..I have also tried using a Single DVI as well with no difference...so given the posts above is it a safe bet that the cable they supplied is defective?

I found that the grainy textures can be improved if you open the nvidia control panel, go to adjust
video colour settings, select advanced and change the dynamic range to 'full (0-255)'. hope this helps

i got the same problem, i used the DVI dual link cable that followed, didn't help, went out and bought a new belkin DVI dual link cable like this http://www.nextag.com/Belkin-PRO-Series-DV...578/prices-html
still nothing, i was wondering since the graphics card has two outputs, should i get a cable that goes into both and end in one cable that goes into the monitor?
like this one http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_0...20070921x00003j
i simply can't resolve this problem, please help
i checked my cable it is a DVI-D dual link cable, should it have been a DVI-I dual link cable in stead?
specs:
Intel I7 920
Zotac Geforce GTX 285
6GB Corsais Patriot DDR3
Viewsonic VX2268WM
2x WD 300GB Raptor 10,000 RPM

Thanks.
