Driver Issue with Viewsonic pjd6220?
  1 / 2
Hey Everyone

Now Im sure not many of you out there have this projector, but Im having an issue and Im wondering of anyone can speak to it.

When playing most games, one eye seems to have a different gamma or contrast than the other eye, so it make dark areas look wierd (seeing light and dark at the same time). /thumbsdown.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Now not only is this projector giving me a real hard time not being able to switch into 1024x768 most times, but this weird effect is really ruining what could be a perfect stereo experience. Is this same effect present in any other display solution?

How about you Andrew, does your projector team have this same issue as well as the other issues Ive mentioned over at MTBS3D? (Check Prototype, close one eye and see if it looks the same as the other - then try to switch to 1024x768 and see if the projector works)

PLEASE SAY THIS IS A DRIVER ISSUE!! This really is a deal breaker on this projector (added on top of all its other issues).

Any response is appreciated

Try disabling DLP Link for starters.

1. Go into the OSD
2. Enter into 3D sync.
3 Turn it off.
4. Don’t power cycle since the setting doesn’t sync.

OH! OK cool I will test this first thing when I get home. But, what does "Don’t power cycle since the setting doesn’t sync. " mean?

It means that that the setting for DLP will turn itself back on if you turn the projector off and then on again. Its something ViewSonic would need to adjust in their firmware.

Hey Andrew.

Ok I tried your suggestions to no avail.

Turned 3D sync off = No 3D, picture kinda warbles around, trying to work but never does.
Turned 3D sync on = 3D, but still the one eye darker problem, plus the XGA switching problem.
Turned 3D sync to Auto = same thing, one eye darker, XGA problem

Turned 3D sync Invert on and off = This setting doesnt make a difference

I think this is a driver issue, because it seems the timing is slightly off. I get blue ghosting in one eye and not the other so this tells me the sync is off somehow. When I turn on 3D, the projector adjusts itself until it syncs with the timing. Just before it settles, I see the blue ghosting, then its gone I get a perfect picture, then at the very last second the blue ghosting appears again and then the timing is locked. 3D sync and all that does nothing to alleviate the problems of one eye looking different from the other. As well as that I still get the strange effect of gamma dark in one eye and light in the other!

Im calling Viewsonic today, see what they can tell me. All in all, Im very upset that this projector seems to be just a pjd6220 with a bad firmware update.
Heck, the box even says pjd6220 with just a 3D sticker added on. Plus, the box didnt even have the UPC code sticker on it. Something all around smells with this.

frustrating because I can see that it SHOULD work, theres just something screwing it up.

Ill be putting up a youtube video so you can see what Im going through when I get the chance.

By the way, my card is an 8800gtx if that helps.

Just got off the phone with Viewsonic and they think something could be wrong with the projector. They are looking into it and may be sending me a new one. Or giving me a firmware update.

Damn this early adopting!

So your projector....

1) has no weird color flashing "tuning" in of the signal?
2) has no gamma dark in one eye, normal in the other?
3) has no problem switching to XGA in 120hz

Im curious.

Well, I tried to make some videos, I could only make the one that shows how I cant get XGA working in some games. I'd like to show you guys the color difference per eye, but I cant seem to film it. I dont know how I can capture it for you to see.

Prototype no XGA

Hi there,

did you get any further word or a firmware update from Viewsonic ?

I also have just received this new "3D" projector. The box, the driver disk, the manual all refer to the old PJD6220. Just a sticker in the unit saying 3D ready !

My problem is worse than yours. Projector will not sync to a 3D signal at all. Just displays the left image for a few seconds and then syncs to the right image for a few seconds. Flips back and forth like this. 3D Sync option in menu makes no difference.

I have a couple of systems, one with a Quadro FX1400 card using openGL and one with a 7600GT using a dongle and software page flipping. Both system woth fine in 3D on a CRT monitor or my other DepthQ 3D projector.

The PJD6220-3D just will not sync to a 3D signal though. Can't get anything out of Viewsonic.

Cheers

Martin
