Outlast

You should be able to force AA in the nVidia control panel, if it's not in the game's options. If it has film grain you can bet someone's found a way to disable that online too.

I tried enabling FXAA, though didn't seem to be much different. And I don't believe it is film grain, cause I didn't change any settings when I tried the 2D 1080p. It just looked remarkably clear.

Download nvidia inspector. Look for your outlast profile. Apply these settings. [Ignore ZC2] It should look sharper then 1080p - 2D even at 720p- 3d but performance cost may be too high, reduce 4x -> 2x. If you don't know nvidia inspector should probably look for a guide. ------------------ FXAA is garbage[no offense]. Try a smaa injector instead if this is too complicated.
Download nvidia inspector. Look for your outlast profile. Apply these settings.
Thanks for the tips. Will try these. In the meantime, I was able to get much better quality just fiddling around with my TV settings. It seemed that my TV preferences defaults if I chose 3D mode. So after I was finished reducing contrast and sharpness, I was left with much better quality. However, even after playing around with convergence, I am not able to completely reduce ghosting. I have the depth at around 70%.

Yea, this is one of those games some people will have trouble with depending on displays. Unfortunately I can't offer a solution besides tweaking contrast/brightness. Its not something to freak out about but certain games some people will definitely have issues with ghosting. [Dead Space/Aliens:CM/Doom/Outlast/Mirrors Edge/Remember Me]. TBH, I'd leave settings [contrast] alone unless I can get 50% depth. I know it sounds like it sucks but 50% depth is still alot of 3D effect. This game is kind of a worse case scenario as far as ghosting.

After latest patch + DLC it does't even trigger 3D Vision anymore.

Ugh. My thoughts exactly ... downloading from steam now ... I'm hoping the update just overwrote his OLEngine.ini?
Go to ..C:\users\....\Documents\my games\Outlast\OLGame\Config\OLEngine.ini Change AllowNvidiaStereo3d=False To AllowNvidiaStereo3d=True
edit: Triggered 3D Vision before I applied Helix's fix and after, it did get 'stuck' once where some things were broken and it didn't look 3D(menus did but game didn't, except for halos around the rear-view mirror) but an Alt+Tab fixed that. Oh and Helix updated the fix for the DLC too! :)

AllowNvidiaStereo3d=False
To
AllowNvidiaStereo3d=True
As a general rule of thumb I usually just delete the Separation lines (Separation = 0x42a00001) in the DX9Settings.ini this will force it to use your global 'Depth' setting but you can also go here: http://gregstoll.dyndns.org/~gregstoll/floattohex/ and do the conversions and add them to the ini yourself ... most likely this is the only real issue you're having with the presets. When saving you adjust the convergence and depth if necessary as usual and then just hit F7 to save, not Ctrl+F7, but I'm pretty sure you have to select a preset first. The Key0 you're referring to in the ini isn't really the 0 key on your keyboard, the 0 is in reference to this line (PresetsKeysList = 0;1;2;) meaning there's 3 Preset Keys (0,1,2) the line under [KEY0] (Key = 50) is where the key is actually bound to the 2(50) key, 1(49), 2(50), 3(51)
Keys: Key 1 - changing presets. The keys(1,2,3) use predefined settings(Presets) in the DX9Settings.ini: Keyboard Settings: 1 - Cycles through 3 Convergence/Separation Presets 2 hold - Low Convergence Preset 3 - Cycles through 3 Camera UI Presets You can select a Preset using 1 and then adjust Convergence(Ctrl+F5/F6)/Separation(Crtl+F3/F4) and then save those settings to the Preset using F7 but you can't save which Preset you use by default by pressing F7, that needs to be done manually in the INI by moving the 'UseByDef = True' line, this method(UseByDef) also works on the UI Presets. You shouldn't really be concerned about the 'Key0' stuff it's just how it's referenced in the INI and the 'Key =' line under it defines what key it's mapped to on your keyboard. This is how they're listed in my INI with the irrelevant parts snipped out.
---snip--- [KEY2] Key = 51 ---snip--- [KEY0] Key = 50 ---snip--- [KEY1] Key = 49 ---snip---
So in the INI 'KEY0' is set to 'Key = 50' which is 2 on your keyboard, 49=1, 50=2 and 51=3 ... it's irrelevant unless you want to remap the keys.
The keys(1,2,3) use predefined settings(Presets) in the DX9Settings.ini:

Keyboard Settings:
1 - Cycles through 3 Convergence/Separation Presets
2 hold - Low Convergence Preset
3 - Cycles through 3 Camera UI Presets

You can select a Preset using 1 and then adjust Convergence(Ctrl+F5/F6)/Separation(Crtl+F3/F4) and then save those settings to the Preset using F7 but you can't save which Preset you use by default by pressing F7, that needs to be done manually in the INI by moving the 'UseByDef = True' line, this method(UseByDef) also works on the UI Presets.

You shouldn't really be concerned about the 'Key0' stuff it's just how it's referenced in the INI and the 'Key =' line under it defines what key it's mapped to on your keyboard. This is how they're listed in my INI with the irrelevant parts snipped out.

---snip---
[KEY2]
Key = 51
---snip---
[KEY0]
Key = 50
---snip---
[KEY1]
Key = 49
---snip---
So in the INI 'KEY0' is set to 'Key = 50' which is 2 on your keyboard, 49=1, 50=2 and 51=3 ... it's irrelevant unless you want to remap the keys.

I can also confirm that outlast doesnt work in 3D for me anymore either even after updating to the current fix and editing OLEngine.ini. It just minimizes to the desktop then eventually freezes. Edit: After uninstalling the game and re installing i got it to load. For some odd reason i had to have my resolution set to 1280x720. It just minimizes to desktop with 1920x1080.

So I decided to try to play it in 3d and maybe finish the story this time. Played a very solid 30 minutes before I noped the fuck out of there forever. Doesn't help that my sound card simulates surround sound, when that guy first grabs you when you are squeezing past the tight space, that scared the shit out of me as he sounded like he was right beside me.
