Batman Arkham Asylum 3D issues?
  1 / 2
Well lets start off with my system specs:

Nvidia 3d Vision w/ Samsung 120Hz Monitor
Intel Core i7 920 2.66GHz
EVGA GeForce GTX 285 1GB DDR3
CORSAIR 12GB DDR3 1600
EVGA X58 Motherboard
3 Raptor drives in a Raid-0 config running
Windows Vista 64bit Ultimate

My issues: As you can see, my computer should be able to handle anything and it pretty much does. I get great 3D effects from almost every game I throw at it with no slow down or frame drops at all.

I usually run all my games at max graphical settings and they run fine with 3D vision turned on.

When running Batman however, without 3D enabled, it looks absolutely excellent. A ton better than the X-Box 360 version I also purchased (I got the PC one for free with my video card from NewEgg)

Turning 3D on slows the game to a crawl, I'm talking about a frame a few seconds. I've tried lowering the settings but I guess I haven't played with them enough to get it to run as it's just too slow to do anything.

Is anyone else experiencing this? Any special settings I need to disable or adjust to make it work?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Just as a reference, I'm currently playing the following in 3D which run great: GTA IV, Resident Evil 5, Aion (beta), WoW, Mass Effect and a few others that all look excellent after some tweaking.

Is this the retail copy? Did you try the demo and have the same problems?

also consider the fact that since batman has been released driver updates for your GPU havent probably been updated for batman

The drivers for resident evil made fps almost go 2x faster than without them.

Nforce site? Is that legit or "extended demo"? The reason I ask is because all of the "extended demos" have so far had problems.

I'm still waiting for my steam version to finish downloading. It didn't unlock until the afternoon here. bums.

Been playin batman and everytime I alter the convergence after about 5 to 10 mins it auto resets itself back to default, really annoying. Also been having a few probs recentl in Tf2 when I turn 3d off (ctrl+t) and after a while it auto starts 3d again resulting in a black screen for about 15 seconds, infact it doesn't matter if 3d is on or off the black screen comes on at randoms times for aprox 15 seconds, the light on the 3d emitter flicks on and off.

Any ideas as to why this happens?

System is well capable.

Yes, I'm having this issue with both the demo and the retail copy... I don't know why this is the only game affected like this... I've even updated my graphics card and 3D vision drivers as they were out of date as of the previous version, yet I'm still experiencing the same issues. One problem the new drivers did fix was allowing me to run Resident Evil, the DX10 version, in full screen as no matter what, it would put it in a window which in turn would disable 3D vision. DX9 Worked in full screen however and now with the new drivers, everything runs smoothly apart from not being able to adjust the convergence...

So in Batman, if 3D vision is active, the game goes to a crawl and the graphics aren't even doubled, they are just messed up like the textures are missing and it's kind of blurry, that and it literally runs at one frame every 2 or so seconds. It's a pain to adjust the settings because you can't do it in game, you have to quit out and load it all up again. This is really strange as in the graphics menu, there is even an option to activate 3D vision so in theory, it should be 100% compatible...

Not only is this machine newly built, so is all the software and the OS within the last month when I purchased everything so I can't understand how there is a problem on my end already...

Anyone have any thoughts or suggestions I should try?

BUMP!!!!

Someone PLEASE offer some type of advice... Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am extremely envious of everyone who states how completely awesome Batman runs on their computers in 3D and I'm sitting here with all the equipment yet I cannot experience the super happy fun time everyone else is...

Believe it or not, I've been in I.T. for 10+ yrs so I should know what to do, that's how bad this issue is. I've tried to troubleshoot this with my entire arsenal of knowledge to no avail so if someone has a sliver of an idea of where to start, it just might be the jumping board i need to figure this out.

I beg each and every one of you, please, do it for the children!!!

You guys need to realise nVidia don't give a s*** about Stereoscopic gaming, if they did they'd be memebers of the S3DGA all-ready. Guess what, they don't give a crap. iz3D, even TriDef are members, along with Electonic Arts, but nVidia, nah. nVidia really don't give a crap. Get over it, nVidia almost killed S3D, only to pull a back-flip with there own product after 2 years of killing the rest of the industry products. Go buy a iz3D screen, you'll have much beter support and the latest games are actually supported!

Edit: I posted this knowing nVidia's moderators wont touch the post, the forums are completly unmoderated. We have free raign, and nVidia suck. If they got 10x the amount of sales things would be different but they didn't so here I am typing this.

Once my Antivirus where causing some problems for me in Burnout, I disabled it and worked fine after...

Try to disable any programs that are running in the background...

Another thing is try to change the settings in the Launcher and see if there is any improvement - try for example disabling PhysX ? Your GFX is more that capable of handling it, but I had to update my PhysX in order to get it working on Batman. But also because Batman and the other games difference is only the PhysX.

But I must admit its a weird problem.

OK OK ...I'll do it /w00t.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':w00t:' />
No guarantee tho that it will help you whatsoever because I don't even have the game, but here go:
-First if you have the 3D laser target on, turn it off (Use the hot key, I think it's Ctrl F12 or something similar, or go into the "change 3d lasersight => uncheck "enable lasersight for configured games). It has been known to cause serious slowdown in some games.
-Turn off all in game special effects, if it worked turn each effect back on in sequence to isolate the one that causes slowdown.

I think he's on topic... lol.

On another note... the game works fine for me.. just have to turn off shadows and it flies... i do have 3x gtx285s... but not sure if that makes a diff because i hear 3d vision don't support 3-way SLI... well anyways... The only thing i can't think of that i did when stuff started to go whacky when i was playing TF2 is set my GPU overclock back to stock and that stopped all the problems i had with that game... also if you have the evga profiler make sure it's off and uninstall nhancer... seems to cause more problems than its worth for me... That is the extent of my knowledge! lol
