Crysis 3 will be awesome, but will it have Dual frame rendering 3D instead of 2D + depth?
  2 / 3
Its amzing how some users from this very forum like btec still thinks this is a silly question, that Crysis 2 has real 3D and we're just igonrant people that don't understand that???? Some folks really don't know or can't tell the difference between real 3D and that fake Crysis 2 3D called by Crytek as Space Re-Projection Stereo (SSRS). I wonder how many real 3D Vision game's they've played so far?? Crysis 2 3D doesn't look like 3D, it's really a 2D approach + depth, cause there's no volume, it's a flat world with a sense of depth. I get astonished that some PC users think our questioning is rubbish, that we don't know what're talking about, go figure??? I would expect that from console uses, not PC users that are used to real 3D Vision games. I agree with Andy, Libertine and HCfordE50 opinions. Yes, it's all about money and we're just a very small niche for Crytek to worry about, it's the middling hardware which is mainstream and call the shots, so I hope Crysis 3 might have real S3D, but I'm not really couting on that. Anyway, if Crysis 3 has better graphics than Crysis 2 patched, more freedom in the open world, the same or better gameplay, native DX11 and lots of tesselation, it will be a greta game, even if we only have the option to play it in (SSRS) fake 3D. In my opinion it still better than play the game in plain 2D. I can't play any games in 2D, and Crysis 2 fake 3D is still better than playing the game in 2D definatelly. But it would be nice to put my GTX 690 in it's knees with some real S3D, and I am sure Crysis 3 amazing graphics would look much better and beyond perfection. Why not just dream about it? BTW, Crysis 2 has some 3D options, and one of them says dual frame rendering, but the option has always been greyed out, you can't select. If the game was not suppose to have such S3D feature, why care about leaving it in the game's menu???? I've never understood that...
Sorry but it does my head in almost as much as those entitled people who believe it possible all games should support3D perfectly despite the difference in hardware specs etc. Possible: yes; practicable: no.
Not sure if that was aimed at me or not, but just in case it wasn't clear, i only wanted dual rendering to be available for those that can use it. I use 720p, I can't take image quality hits at that resolution and its very hard to swallow when its unnecessary to begin with. Maximize this to 1080p and thats what i was staring at, i don't know about you guys. @Francomg. Maybe they released a patch since you've played it, but to me, the sense of depth was pretty impressive. Not the 2D+depth like a lot of people were saying. Of course i had to bump up the depth slider in the Crysis menu to full. I still wouldn't use it, but if they improved it for C3, and raised the render resolution, who knows.

Crysis 2 3d screams "3d is a gimmick", it looks terrible, adds nothing and gave me headaches (more than any other real 3d game by far). As someone said, it's to games like 3d conversions to cinema, the kind of 3d that makes people never look back at the technology. I hope Crysis 3 is the real deal but I doubt it.

@Libertine Sorry for my rant dude! I was refering to people who expect devs to inplement fully functioning 3D into their games. I think it is unrealistic for the small 3D chunk of market to demand this from game developers and this attitude blatently antagonises the vocal 3D haters on forums. I have found the "softly-softly catch-the-monkey" approach to asking for 3D support is a far more productive way of encouraging 3D support than demanding perfect 3D on forums. Asking for rigourous graphical options, allowing for user control of shadows, crosshair, shader levels, lense flare effects, reflections etc benefits EVERYONE. And benefits 3D. It's not ideal but I would rather > 50% of games being great and the others passable than being completely unable to certain games because the they're AMD only. Devs forcing a 3D rendering method on the user, locks many users out.

settle down francomg, that question wasnt an attak on you, though i can see how it might have come across that way. i do hope they have removed a few of the Crytek 'console' settings like edge AA and allow us to use our 3D driver settings. out of all the games im playing again, C2 just didnt hold enough to make me play it again in 3d. still their method of 3D, which has depth but also has lots of minecraft textures and plants, will be better than nada

I actually don't think hes angry at you. It will be better than NADA for console gamers and im glad for that. There is no such thing as NADA for pc gamers though thanks to 3D Vision and Tridef and others. Unless of course they lock it out again, in which case there might be a huge serving of NADA.

We are 30 Days away from launch. Regardless of any negative comments made in this post I bet all of you are going to get Crysis3 on day one and not wait for what the reviewers say. I am sure I will not be dissapointed like I was with Modern Warfare 3, or Command & Conquer 4, the anticipation and then the letdown on those releases...OUCH. I still have faith in Crytek(not EA) to deliver. I also think they will come a lot closer to offering what higher end machines owners will want.

I won't. I can't play games in 2D any more. It 'feels' funny. Consequently, unless the game plays well in 3D I won't be getting it :(. Even if it becomes super cheap, there is still no point getting it.

I must say, playing games in 2D after playing them in 3D just feels like your on a budget. its not the same as the old trees in Doom2 that would face you no matter which angle your on, but its something like that... a heap of cardboard cut outs of vegetation placed along map. i will however be buy C3 regardless of its 3D mode

Well at least in MP Open beta they had greyed out the 3D SETTINGS option. So how the hell i'll know how this game does look like in 3D ? Same old story as Crysis 2 or 3D Vision ready tagged? Kinda stupid to leave it aour from open beta. :( GG EA !!

Well, I just played beta. 3D settings are blocked atm (grey in menu and you cant choose them). Default stereo effect is very weak. It doesnt drop FPS much (FPS is already horrible on i5 2500K/16gb/680GTX. I can hardly get 30 fps on max with 313.95 drivers) but it almost makes no difference from 2D. And you cant raise conv, it is blocked.
