Fourm within the 3d vision site - in the pic section PLEASE PLEASE WE NEED THIS FEATURE TO GROW
As the title says could we get a simple posting section in the pic section of 3d vision live. Having to post a pic to make a comment is very limiting to the growth of the community. ATM we have to upload or repost a pic for general comments, its most distracting to the general comments you see down the side of the page. It would be nice to see and have a place to post a thread that is seen within the pic page that may not directly relate to a specific photo in general. Most if not all photo hosting sites offer this feature, hosting sites do not require you to navigate away from the site inorder to do this within another fourm as 3d vision live requires us to do. I am an long time poster with the nvidia forums and i find it annoying to come here to make comments about something hosted somewhere else.
Please add this to 3d vision live.... your killing us over there. Its like being gagged, we are creative individuals who are handicapped from expressing ourselfs outside of a comment linked to a photo.

I don't understand? How is navigating away from 3DVision Live a problem?
One thing that does irk me, though, is that there's no way to know when somebody has made a comment about one of your pictures. You have to check the front page every day. If a lot of comments pop up at once then even that might not be enough.

for me it breaks the experiance, for others they simple will not contribute beyond uploading images. How many names from image uploaders do you see posting in this forum......., how much information is shared to better the community via the comment section......... I would like to sign in once at 3d vision live and leave my comments, contributes, suggestion and advice and see the results of my efforts within that page. This feature not included within the site is a handicap at best and at worst makes for an empty user experiance. Right now its upload and comment.... you dont build relationships with other users with how the site is now. Ive tried for forum enrichment type threads here in this forum and all i see is tumbleweeds rolling by. Its unlike any pic hosting site i upload to and does not offer a way of improving your own style or abilitys because of the lack of interaction with users other than comments.
I see you Zloth are a great contributer of both 3d vision live and within the 3d vision thread in the general section. You are able to make the most of the experiance as your are ingaged in both sites. Some do not want to talk about games or 3dtvs or other Geforce 3d vision glasses/monitor. They perfer to talk about captures light in a dark area or perhaps post processing of images before uploading or other photo related subjects within the photo related site. There are no guides written to help others in this forum as no one (general comment-people there do visit here but leave little to suggest so) comes here to post or write them.
Agreed Zloth, alerts of some sort would be nice, an email saying someone has commented on your photo would be nice.
I just feel there could be more in 3d vision live and we are losing out on a great community feature that is included in all other photo hosting sites.

Thank you for the suggestion - can you please provide more detail about how you would like this to work, as we're currently considering a few different options. What sites do this well, in your opinion. And not quite sure I follow your bit about needing to repost an image to comment as you can comment on any image at any time and the most recent comments how up in order on the photo page itself on the right-hand column.
(currently fighting off spam attackes from simpletrader that has caused some issues, too..

To elaborate on my question i am suggesting a mini forum that would occupy the right side of the 3d vision live page, this area of the page is currently not being used for anything and would lend itself well for this. I am suggesting a strip about 4 inches wide and would go from the title block at the top of the page to the bottom of the page along the right side. The mini forum could be introduced in layers which would be revealed as a user clicks on a specific thread. The first layer would be general categories, it would have the same outline, color scheme and general look that users currently see when visiting nvidia forums. General categories would be things predetermanded by the hosting site such as help and suggestions, user reviews and guides, general chat. Clicking on a specific category would then clear the current list and the next layer would be introduced which hosts all user submitted comments. The first few lines of each user contributed thread could be displayed, away to give the reader and idea of what is about to be viewed. Clicking on a specifc thread would than reveal the last layer consisting of that thread and all addional posts added. This mini forum would not expand beyond the 4 inch wide border or perhaps can be expanded full screen if user desires so. The idea being that while viewing the pics one does not have to leave the page to read this forum.
I will do a photoshop mockup to further express my intention. This mockup will show the page layout.... im not that good with these kinds of photoshop stuff so please be understanding lol. I will also include other hosting sites with how their layouts work in regards to a mini forum within a specific category.
To clarify my meaning of uploading a pic to leave a comment as asked in your last line i mean that if i want to leave a general comment which does not relate to any specific photo but to the users as a whole i must do so by attaching my comment to a photo. If i was to suggest (this is just an example) that users upload 3d pics of food they have eaten that week i must ask everyone by leaving a comment attached to a photo and hope that it is seen before being moved off that page by new uploads. If i was to ask how does one take good 3d low light shots using a single lens camara then i must attach that question to anothers/my photo even if that photo ive attached it to has nothing to do with the question im asking. Does that make sense, im not sure but i hope so.
Thanks for your time and i will work on the mock ups to give a visual of how it can be implemented within that page. The 3d video section can also use the same format or can have the same forum attached down its page side, a nice way to join users who other wise may not visit both pages of 3d vision live... pics and movies. I think this would allow users to interact with each other, share ideas and help one another .... something more personal to 3d vision live users, a place of their own to post.

I think that area is not being used because they are assuming a resolution of 1024 x Whatever. That's pretty standard practice - but I wonder if that's a good idea here? I don't see any 3D phones out yet, though I guess there's an outside chance the site could be made to work in XBox once it gets Internet Explorer on it.
By the way... www.mtbs3d.com has managed to figure out a scheme where you can actually put 3D pictures in your forum posts. It only works with certain browsers right now but I'm still impressed.

I think Nvidia is being very strange with the 3dvision live service. They've only held "model" contests for 3dvisionlive. Why not gaming pics? Doesnt that generate the most revenue since video cards are needed for games?
Long story short, 3D VISION LIVE NEEDS MORE GAMERS.
I am not really active on 3d vision live as I am on forum but if you gave admin access to someone such as zloth/dhr then that could work. Either that or disable website linking. Like can not post www in a comment or http

Me? A forum moderator? Not likely. I did my time on the GEnie religion/ethics forum!
You do start to see just what you're asking, though. They've got to get forum software going, hire a forum moderator or three, give the whole thing a look & feel that matches the 3D Live website, find a server for it, and so on.
P.S. I think game images have outnumbered real life images over the past few days!
