3D Vision CRASHES My Computer.
It's been 2 months I have had all my 3D hardware ready to go but I have yet to see anything in 3D. GTX 670, check. Nvidia dongle hanging off my computer, check. Acer 5360 projector, check. Looks great in 2D. Computer is on, I go to enable 3D and it takes me to a wizard. I start the wizard and when it goes to the screen with the 3D images to select with the left and right eye, guess what? Nothing can be selected, I can move the mouse. Cannot back out of this screen because clicking no longer works. I try another mouse, no clicking works. I control alt delete, wait, wait, ok got the screen to start task manager. Oops it goes back to the 3D wizard. Control alt delete agian, this time select restart. It takes about 15-20 minutes of the shutting down screen before I walk over there and hit the restart button. What's the fix? What do I need to be looking for in the event logs? Sometimes the dongle will flash red until I unplug it, then reboot and it's green again. Any tips on actually fixing the issue is appreciated. So far I just feel completely ripped off, and of course live support is only available while I'm at work. Thanks!

I would first try reinstalling the drivers and be sure to click the clean install option, something may be corrupted. Next time before you run the wizard, set your desktop to 1280x720@120Hz. It makes it easier to transition into the test than if it's set to 60Hz. You do not mention your motherboard or CPU, but make sure the drivers for them are up to date. Is anything overclocked? Do you have USB3, if so try plugging the emitter into your USB2 input.

Clean install 310.90. Same issue. I'm reinstalling all drivers for the mobo now. All the drivers are 6 months old, nothing new. Fatal1ty Z68 Professional Gen3 http://www.asrock.com/mb/overview.asp?cat=Download&os=Win764&Model=Fatal1ty%20Z68%20Professional%20Gen3 CPU is the i7-2700k not currently overclocked for the sake of troubleshooting. Emitter has never been plugged into usb3.

I'm using driver 306.97 with a projector with no problems. I haven't tried 310/90 yet can you set your desktop to 1280x720 120Hz? If not, we need to start there. What input is it that you are using on you H5360? VGA? HDMI? DVI?<---I think it does not have a DVI Can you comfirm that in Device Manager, that the projector is recognized. You are actually using a H5360 and not spoofing it, right? I'm thinking that it might possibly be a problem with the integrated graphics of the GPU. Is there a way to disable them? I haven't taken any time to read up on these newer CPU/GPU combos.

It's running 120hz over a dvi to vga adapter, I have 3 on hand none are giving me an issue. I will attempt this over hdmi here shortly, however hdmi is limited to 60hz. In device manager it shows the Acer 5360. The desktop is set to 1280x720 120Hz. I will report if I have to change this for any reason but there has not been a reason to change it.

While going through the wizard, the buttons do in fact work and allow me to click them. When clicking, it takes 2-5 minutes to register as clicked. Then I can click on next. Wait 2-5 minutes to see it's been clicked, then click on the check box to agree, wait 2-5 minutes for it to take, etc... I gave up and escaped out of it as the check box would go to checked and uncheck again before I could click next.

I used to use 3d vision over analogue (vga) via CRT mode, but that's been removed since the R296 drivers. HDMI will support 120hz at the native resolution of that projector, it just can't do 120Hz at 1080p. Make sure the 3d vision emitter is showing up in device manager and there are no problems there. I would try using a HDMI lead if possible. Oh, also, is it the original 5360, or a 5360BD? The latter isn't natively 3d vision compatible, you can only use 3dtv play and dlp link glasses.

It's the certified one and yes it's in device manager. I managed to play BorderLands 2 for about 10 minutes in 3D. Stopped playing the game. Installed Bioshock. It crashes with 3D enabled. I alt tab and force it to close. Turn off 3D. Start Bioshck no problem in 2D. I shut it off, fire up Borderlands 2, no 3D. I have 3D enabled in the Nvidia control panel, but no longer turns on 3D when I hit Control T. Is Control T the universal on off for 3D? Like any game you're playing will enable 3D with control T? Curious because it didn't work for Bioshock, or something else is still wrong. Also is this a typical situation for a bad video card? It's the only thing I haven't yet replaced.

He asked if you had the H5360 or H5360BD. Control+t enables and disables 3D. Not all games are 3D capable. There is a "view compatibilty with games" tab in the control panel, although it's outdated and incorrect, it will give you a rough idea. Yes, it is possible that your GPU is getting hot, it works twice as hard in 3D. If you are not using fan monitoring software you should. You should alse be paying attention to you GPU, CPU and memorey usage/loads MSI Afterburner is free and works well. http://event.msi.com/vga/afterburner/download.htm http://www.almico.com/speedfan.php

If you have a second display connected, remove it. Sometimes a 2nd display can confuse the driver due to different resolutions and timins, etc.... In case you overlooked it, just like rustyk said...... If you have the H5360BD, it's supported via HDMI If you have the h5360 it's supported via VGA or HDMI. What concerns me is that the wizard is hanging so badly, you are not using that crap emulator are you? What's the native rez of your projector? Is it new or used? Be sure that you have your resolution set at progreesive 32 bit. not interlaced

Turns out the cheap 280 dollar Galaxy GTX 670 was at fault. I sent in for an RMA and now it all works. I am using the actual USB dongle and just for grins will try the emulator again. No need to have that off my rig if it's not necessary, the emulator worked once before, will try it again when I find time. Also using the Acer EDID override it works with outputting to the Acer, Vivitek, and an old Epson but it looks soso at the Epson 85Hz native. I'm now using the Vivitek 803-w 3D as it whoops the Acer with 3600 Lumens as bright as day. Good to know. Getting rid of the Acer to a friend. Thanks for the input everyone!
