Devil May Cry HD Collection
  1 / 2
I'm working on it. It's DX11, contrary to what pcgamingwiki and other people say. For now, I've fixed 2D fog/fire/etc that appear at the beginning of DMC1, in almost the same fixing style of FFXII (expanding the depth range of those effects). Also, I made a black bars toggle for cutscenes :p. As you may know, I'm still making the finishing touches to the ToCS2 fix (release planned for this weekend), and I'll also start to look at the full FFXV game. So multiple games have to share my time.

Nice... the first and third games are maybe my favorite games in that style and definitely were genre defining at their time. Will be looking forward to picking this up at some stage.

Cool :). Just before going to bed, I've now fixed shadows and I'm in the middle of fixing effects related to orbs (glyphs surrounding them). The hard part will be reaching 100% accurate numbers. But this fix is going smoothly for now. They say this port lacks bloom. I wonder if I can implement that manually in the pixel shader of objects where I want bloom. I'll try at least.

THANKS masterotaku, You are amazing ! Unfortunatelly I've come to the point, where it's really hard find the time for all these great games, and I prefer to suck the whole experience out of a "few" games, rather than powerplay them all !! That's why I'm only maybe halfway through Skyrim SE, and yet have played 250 hours :p So I'm not sure that I'm ever going to play these games, but you still have my humble gratitude for all you amazing fixes :)

Thanks a lot for making fixes for these classics masterotaku. Even if they are old games, I'm hyped to play them in S3D.

WIP 1: https://s3.amazonaws.com/masterotaku/Devil+May+Cry+HD+Collection/DMC_HD_Collection_WIP1.7z Fixed: - Correctly stereoized fire, fog, water splashes, orbs, special effects, weapon shells, etc. - Shadows. - One haloing problem in DMC1. - More or less fix for sword swinging effect (it's hard to know if it's correct or how it should look like, except when it's at 0 convergence, where I know it's 100% correct). - A non 3D related game problem with distortion effects (underwater stages, and door transitions). It can be corrected in the "d3dx.ini", or disabled. All three games are fixed (what I played of them, which isn't everything yet). Even I am surprised that I was able to accurately fix all those things. If this game were released a year ago, I wouldn't have been able to fix it until now (I got ideas from FFXII). Hotkeys: - F1: convergence presets. Each game may need different convergence. - F2: HUD depth. May apply only to DMC1. - F3: HUD toggle. Same as above. - F4: black bars toggle. Perfect in DMC1, but it disables shadows in DMC2 and DMC3. - F5: sky bloom toggle for DMC1. Still not filtered for that specific texture. Just an experiment after people complained about lack of bloom. - F6 or XB_LEFT_THUMB: shadows and objects fix preset for DMC1 and DMC2. At least in DMC1, there are some rooms and places that need a different fixing formula multiplier, and I haven't found a constant value where to automatically get it. Default value is the most commonly used. DMC3 uses a fixed value because for now it's the only one it needs (at least in the first 6 missions). - 1: some blur/DoF toggle for DMC3, usually in cutscenes. - 2: object bloom toggle for DMC3. It sometimes needs the "1" hotkey or else it will look red. It disables shadows. Just for fun. - 3: ghosting toggle for DMC3. It's also fog in the Cerberus room. If you play DMC1 at 5K, look at "y7=1" in "d3dx.ini". The game has a problem with distortion effects at that resolution. Set it to "y7=5" to fix it, or "y7=0" to disable the effect.

Today I've finished playing DMC1. Fantastic game, right there with DMC3 (less fluid and feature full in fighting than DMC3 but it has great atmosphere and soundtrack, and a good story). I'm modifying a lot what I did for DMC2, to make it better. For now it just needs two L3 button fixing profiles: one for gameplay and one for cutscenes. If you're thinking about playing this one, please wait for the complete fix. DMC2 is strange. Notably worse than 1 and 3. The AI is incredibly stupid, and the game is easy as a result (I'm halfway done with Dante), there is very little story for now, and the setting is bland and waaaaay too big. No wonder people criticise this game. It's still some fun in its way, though.

Thank you very much for the donation. I've finished fixing DMC2 (including HUD problems the WIP1 has. I still haven't nailed the sword swinging effect) and playing Dante's story. I'll do Lucia's story too just in case. I have also solved the problem of shadows getting disabled in DMC2 and DMC3 when you disable black bars, so now story cutscenes will be more enjoyable :). It won't take much more to be finished with all three games. What's left is mostly testing now. Edit: I've also improved more things in the DMC3 fix just now.

I have spent some extra time for these things (open them in a new tab to check the resolution): Super high resolution artworks for the DMC3 menu, and also a very high resolution moon. The bad thing is that there aren't any other high resolution images (with transparency preferably) for Vergil's alternate outfits in the mission selection menu, and none for Dante at all. I got these from http://devilmaycry.wikia.com/wiki/Gallery:Vergil and http://devilmaycry.wikia.com/wiki/Gallery:Dante . I'll try to find more if they exist. I got some DMC2 artworks too. These textures need SpecialK to load, and sometimes having SpecialK there can temporarily break the fix if certain convergence values are used (I'm now using some decimals to avoid this). If it happens, changing convergence just a bit fixes it.

In theory, this will be the final fix: https://s3.amazonaws.com/masterotaku/Devil+May+Cry+HD+Collection/DMC_HD_Collection_3D_Vision_fix.7z Hotkeys with multiple presets can be cycled back by pressing the shift key too. DMC1 has a lot of L3/F6 presets, and the default one is the most needed. DMC2 has two presets: one (default) for gameplay and another for cutscenes. Just press the button depending on the situation. DMC3, at least up to mission 8 (it's where I'm at), is perfect with the fixed preset I made. I'm still about halfway through DMC3 but I haven't seen any more issues for now (I've fixed Vergil's sword effect thanks to a temporary cheat to unlock him). I'm going to upload the texture pack tomorrow, and once I'm done with DMC3, I'll make the blog post. Hopefully this won't take more than 2 days.
