Updating the software, adding game profiles, fixing bugs, working with game developers, etc. There is A LOT being done on the development side of things.
I agree. If it's ever going to pick up steam, it needs to be supplied more openly at a chain store like Best Buy.

And as far as support goes, can you blame us for being a bit upset? I mean, how long has opengl not been supported and how long have we asked about it and how long has the answer not been acknowledge by anyone? If you don't know at least say, "I don't know", rather than be silent, which is quite insulting to someone who spent $600 bucks on what feels like a beta testing package.

We ask about ghosting, no general answer.

We ask about bug fixes, no general answer.

Now an admin comes in with a few vague reveals in a bumy manner and we're all at fault?

Don't be mad at us for having questions you don't know how to or bother answering. You leave us in the complete dark for months, how do you expect our general attitudes to be toward nVidia and the people "working" here?

Ok, seems there is a bit of friction in the 3d forums as to what it exsists for. I thought it was a user to user based but this forum seems to also have moderators/informers whom actively speak for Nvidia. I do appreciate the help they are providing AND I have seen active moderation to offensive posts. Now if someone wants to taunt the moderators into showing themselves, well….whatever, power to them I guess. I don’t agree with aggression, forums should be open and moderated for fairness.
I do agree though with a post that implies that more focused attention to the forums needs/should be addressed. In addition to tech help, I would like to know where my $600+ is going (fair and rightfully so-as a paying customer), I don’t care about the marketing-you got my money, I’m sold but I do want to know what the future holds for my cool new toy. Simple things like what games profiles to expect in the next driver update, little cool facts like, how many units have sold? ( I like to know how many of us 3d vision users are out there-we are now in a group because we own this). I have seen many posts with inquires which don’t really seem that hard to answer but go without any response. Coming in, threaten the “ban hammer” as a response to being told no one is listening does not instil faith in my decision to purchase.
Now this may sound like a rant but remember, I could be playing 3d games right now, not typing into a forum for free- my spare time is very limited; I don’t want to spend it ranting. As “bleeding edgers”-which is what this tech is at this moment- we need more reassurance then would be need by someone spending $20 on a new DVD player. Please mods stay active and don’t be swayed by nay sayers, we all know they are there but we ignore them nicely.

Just to clarify. Nvidia offers technical support for drivers and installations. Please visit the thread below for more information.

The administrators/moderators do actively moderate nzone. But we may miss something from time to time. Using the report function is the best way to ensure we see something that may be going awry in the forums. We do our best to make sure the Nzone forums are pleasant for anyone who needs to find information here.

The biggest problem on this forum is intelligent posts such as yours, which remain polite and ask questions go totally ignored. While Moronic posts such as, "we can post what we want and get away with it" cause admin interaction.

It's like a pack of wolves or bullies that only come out when it's an easy kill, God forbid anyone provide any help or substantial information around here.

Will there ever be opengl support?

Will nVidia continue to fix games that are rated "bad" or "fair" ....games that have been technically supported for almost a year now, but never properly fixed to run decently with a good amount of options available? Such as Half-Life 2, which has had an annoying bug which causes extreme slowdown once the 3D cross-hair is enabled. Or Crysis, which is basically unplayable even though it is rated good. Or Gears of War which has a cross-hair issue when played under dx10.

Will nVidia ever make 3D available for websites, youtube, and other non-gaming software which is currently allowed with IZ3D's glasses?

These types of issue's are a concern to many user's and continually go ignored.

I have emailed as proper Nvidia reps as possible with no answer, I've left numerous posts here to no answer.

Please note that the name of this site is Nvidia USER to USER forums. That means you really shouldn't expect direct interaction with paid staff, but if we get it it's a bonus. Of course they are watching the forums to see what we all have to say about new products and the like! How else would the get feedback?

Secondly the mods are very helpful and friendly as long as you don't step on their toes. I have personally known a few for 3-4 years now. Just play by the rules and you won't see the ban hammer or puppy mods teeth or Chris's miss typed/spelled rant telling you how to act.

That's all.

P.s. Who's the new mod? David Weller? Ban Hammer? huh?

The Admin and Mod staff are NOT here to provide technical support or inside access to NVIDIA. Myself, ChrisRay and Exitios are not employees of NVIDIA. We all have day jobs and we are not paid to spend time here. Our function is to moderate these forums. We deal with spam, trolls and inappropriate or mis-placed posts.

When you suddenly encounter a thread with a lot of mod/admin presence, it's most certainly because a user used the Report Post tool to report what they felt was an inappropriate post/thread. Shockingly (and I mean that sarcastically), we (the mod-staff) all responded when someone said that we don't moderate here. We do. But we are not everywhere. So if you think we missed something, use the report post tool. Every reported post is looked at.

If you want to give feedback to NVIDIA, then you are in the wrong place. NVIDIA is NOT collecting feedback here. The purpose of these forums is for users to talk to other users. If you want to send feedback to NVIDIA, use the NVIDIA driver feedback page: http://www.nvidia.com/object/driverqualityassurance.html Your posts there will be handled by someone at NVIDIA, your posts here will be read by other NVIDIA users.

Separate from the mod/admin staff, NVIDIA Customer Care has a presence on the forums. They may offer assistance or seek specific information from you to file a bug report. NVIDIA's customer care agents are not part of the moderating team. They do not receive anymore notice about reported posts than you do (which is to say that they don't receive any notice at all). Do not abuse the report post tool, it's there for inappropriate posts.

If you want to ask NVIDIA a question, take advantage of the Ask NVIDIA a Question thread: http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=109093 If you came here to demand answers, consider who you're making the demands from. How am I, a fellow NVIDIA user, supposed to tell you how many 3D Vision kits NVIDIA sold, or if OpenGL support is forthcoming?

In some cases, maybe. In most, probably not. 3D Vision support is mostly dependent on the game's developer.

Do you think a developer is going to go back and and rework their already RTMed engine to give you a great 3D Vision experience? I doubt it. In some cases it would require a substantial rewrite of the engine, or having effects implemented in a different way. Even if it were done, the patch to fix it would be the size of the gamer installer. It's impractical.

NVIDIA is working on expanding the 3D Vision ecosystem. Patches and updates may bring some fixes and enhancements, but there is no magic patch on NVIDIA's end to make a 2D element 3D. A driver patch can't change a way a developer implement an effect that isn't working correctly. Stereo 3D was around years ago, but its market was so tiny that devs would have no reason to code something specifically to be compatible with stereo 3D, especially if it was more difficult to do. Pre-GeForce 3D Vision, I doubt every game dev even knew about stereo 3D.

NVIDIA's main focus is games that are still in development. I have no idea how much money NVIDIA puts into helping developers, but it's a lot. Recent titles like Batman: AA and Resident Evil 5 look fantastic in 3D because NVIDIA invested in making those games great in 3D by sending their own devs and managers to those studios. It wasn't by accident. The Way... program is about making games better and giving you the best experience. 3D Vision isn't just a fad for NVIDIA.

Keep in mind that this post doesn't necessarily...that green line in my signature. I'm giving you the best and most logical information I have based upon what I know, but I don't work for NVIDIA.

...Crysis played just fine for me in 3D, I only had a few minor issues when I completely ignored the 3D Vision suggested settings and cranked it all up to see what would happen.

And really, any further discussion should be taken to another thread.

One thing I can specifically say about Andrew is that he's often out of town. He's a busy guy. ...he probably thinks its weird that everytime he's gone a bunch of "Where has Andrew gone?" threads popup.
Actually to those of you claiming that nonone is paid to come in here......you are wrong. Our customer support team is in these forums every day answering technical questions. And yes, they are paid employees of NVIDIA.
They may be in these forumS every day but they're certainly not in this forum providing any help. According to the "Find Member's posts" feature, ManuelG (the customer support guy assigned to answering issues raised in the forums) has never even posted here once. As for mods, Amorphous is the only one of those who immediately jumped into this thread who seems to have even been aware that the 3D Vision forum existed before today (at least I couldn't find any previous posts here from any of the others).

Having said that, I have no gripe with the mods - they're unpaid volunteers performing a pretty thankless task in trying to maintain forum order and it's not their job to give technical support. However, there are hundreds of posts in the 3D Vision forum which have raised valid issues regarding bugs, flawed or missing driver features and technical problems which have been completely ignored by all paid nVidia staff. Even when 3D Vision users contact customer support directly we receive generic brush-offs.
One thing I can specifically say about Andrew is that he's often out of town. He's a busy guy. ...he probably thinks its weird that everytime he's gone a bunch of "Where has Andrew gone?" threads popup.
Given that he's the only nVidia employee who seems to have ever provided any technical support in this forum, is it any wonder that users are concerned that even that extremely limited support seems to have ceased? Perhaps what he should be thinking when he sees these kind of threads is that it would be a good idea to permanently assign one or more customer support staff to dealing solely with the 3D Vision forum -answering technical queries, passing bug reports and feature requests to the driver development team etc. After all, 3D Vision is the only nVidia product sold directly to consumers so it's not entirely unreasonable to expect more direct support because users have no alternative channels through partner companies (as they would with something like a graphics card).
Cheers,
DD

Andrew comes and goes, just like dozens of other posters. Support hasn't ceased, and these forums are not an official support channel.

You're completely ignoring the "user-to-user" part. And for that matter, Andrew disappeared for months from this forum previously and then showed up for a while and answered quite a few major technical issues. If you think the many of the major technical issues haven't been addressed in the past, you haven't been following things long enough. Do some searches on "Samsung DLP" from a few months back. I understand there are new issues all the time.

I came too late to witness all the forum drama referenced in this thread, and I understand that user-to-user tip sharing is the most to be expected from posting questions in these forums.

But this here is a sound point:

That said(er quoted), my 3D vision glasses set seems to work well enough with some driver releases, doesn't work properly with some other driver releases, and requires extra settings tweaking in all cases. Where this technology is now, it is certainly not plug and play or one size fits all. I'd say everyone who bought into Nvidia 3D vision knows they are early adopters. Considering this, and the fact that the 3D vision userbase is essentially testing the product on varied hardware configurations, appropriate support would be nice. But I can certainly understand Nvidia has more important things to do at the moment, like fighting off Cypress with a consumer Fermi variant. I wish Nvidia the best for their next generation consumer cards and I'd say that while PhysX is nice and requires no extra hardware, 3D vision is by far the most impressive feature distinguishing Nvidia from ATI at the moment. If the 3D vision program was cultivated a bit more and became more universally functional it would be a strong bullet point if not a PR dream for Nvidia marketing.

Pretty amazing thread, that brought several admins from Nvidia out of their dormant state. Terrible lack of communication between nvidia and consumers of their product on this section of the forum (can't speak for other sections as I don't venture there) My response may or may not hit a nerve with the nVidia hierarchy but I speak as I see things. After no help from an issue I had with my 3d Vision after shelling out £400 from the goggles and monitor I solved it myself by uninstalling the 3D driver, putting the goggles (glasses) back in their little sack and storing them away. Useless, when my issue couldn't be resolved with no help from the nvidia techs. How hard could it be, to a a team or even 2 people monitoring this section and helping consumers out with any problems they have with their products they bought...?

Props to the thread creator!

Doesn't that tell you anything????

Clearly to me that states that consumers of nVidia products are wanting after purchase support and maybe one person just isn't enough. It's not like nVidia is a 3 man team in a small garage is it.

Amorphous
That's great, but instead of just stating policy perhaps you could 'consider' making chages to this forum.

I think I speak for all when I say we would prefer to have an Admin who can actually talk with us about 3d vision, and not just edit our posts....
I mean, why don't you take on that role ? You're here anyway.. or is it too much responsibility, coupled with dealing with spam ect.. ?
