nvidia gtx 670 on dlp samsung hlt-6187S possible with hack? (dlp-link)
I'm using an nvidia gtx 670 card which works well for games like me3 and skyrim.. For some reason Tomb Raider 2013 just crashes to the desktop after clicking play in the menu. It doesn't crash if i'm not doing it via tridef ignition. Is there a setting or two i must toggle to make it work? Thanks

There was a guy without 3d vision/tv play installed that got it to work. Im not sure if he had an expired 3d tv play or what. I dont know how some people have 3D vision installed on a tv without actually having the program. He has the warning message that shows up and just wanted to play tomb raider but didnt care about other games. *Shrug* I told him how to remove it so he can play. Doubt it helps but maybe right direction. https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/532954/3d-vision/tomb-rider-survivor-in-3d/ I'd check this topic about people having trouble with tv play. I think everyone got it to work eventually. Also its probably a bad idea to write hack in topic. Probably gonna get deleted. They dont give support but they definetly delete topics/threads.

I have a dual boot.. seems to be working for me in my win 8 partition, however.. im using the tridef drivers.. i havent figured out a way to make the 3d vision work with my samsung dlp led (hlt-6187) tv and dlp link.. i do have a mits adapter that converts to checkerboard, but i cant get past the setup wizard for 3d vision.. i've read of some hacks to enable it, but never found the exact solution. I also havent tried 3d play, seems thats $40 and didnt come with the card.. hate to waste $40 if even that wont work.. tridef is "ok" for now i guess

There is a trial for 3DTV Play but it also doesn't look like your model # is on the supported TVs list. Have you tried not using the 3D adapter? I have a Mitsubishi and the adapter but I only use the adapter for consoles, 720p60, and use the native checkerboard output on my PC, 1080p60. But then again I also have a 3D Vision emitter and VESA cable that enables 3D Vision and my model is on the 3D Vision supported TV list, not the 3DPlay one.

You need a 3D Vision emitter to enable 3D Vison + an EDID from a 3D Vision supported Mitsubishi to Override the Samsung for 3D Vision. Or... Have you used the Mitsubishi converter with the TV before and it works? On some of the early versions, you could push a few buttons and get it to recognize a Samsung. But on their later versions, Mitsubishi disabled it so that users could not enable Samsungs. Since the converter is HDMI 1.4 compliant, you should be able get it to work with 3DTV Play. 3DTV Play costs $40 or is free if you have an Nvidia emitter connected. Be careful if you buy it, because they only give you 5 activations to start and hassle you if you try to get them reset.

[/quote] I picked up a 3d vision emitter.. plugged the 3d cable into the tv (not sure if this part was needed) and the USB into the PC.. I then get the 3d play/vision symbol appearing in the nvidia control panel.. if i do an image test, it is in 3D, working.. I seem to have two choices checkerboard (as my tv the samsung is).. or 3d play (i think this was the other). When I go to resolutions, however, i'm not seeing 1920x1080 at 60hz listed, only 24hz, or 720p at 60hz.. even if i pick 720p and try a game it doesnt seem to work, though the game did seem to detect the 3d vision. So i'm guessing this is where the edid override would come in correct? (inf) My setup is like this: Denon 1919 --- Mits 3d adapter --- Samsung tv I basically have all inputs from things like the PC going into the denon, then the output of receiver to the mits then to the tv. In the PC the display shows as "Denon". Can i simply locate a dlp mits inf override from the list of supported mits.. or does this require a "combo" inf/edid override that merges both the denon and the mits (I did this once before but not for mits but this was years ago and i've forgotten how to do this if needed).. Is there a database I may have not stumbled on that has at least the mits inf or maybe a Denon + mits if the combination edid override is needed.. Slightly confused on that part. **also.. in win 8 i was getting this error, despite from the control panel things seemed fine.. this error was thrown if you tried to open the photo viewer: "adapter does not support nvidia 3d vision" In windows 7 i didnt get that error, the 3d photo viewer simply wasn't "in 3d"

I'm unsure if 3D Vision will work with anything in the chain. The DLP TVs are supported with checkerboard for 3D Vision. It's very important as far as I know, that there is no post processing on the checkerboard format once it leaves the GPU or the effect is broken (no over/underscanning) If you do get 3D Vision working, then yes, the vesa cable needs to be connected to the TV or there's a red warning overlay on the screen as far as I know. On some of those TVs, it required that you rename the HDMI input. I think to PC. If you use 3DTV Play, then you are restricted to 1080@24. So your best option for gameplay would be via checkerboard.
