SINGLE best 3D game - Which one has to be crowned?
2 / 3
way too many good 3d games out by now to single out one of them, but so far in my personal 3d hall of fame, there's
-hard reset
-titan quest
-dirt 3 (which I played more in 2 months than the previous 2 games in 3 years cause of 3d)
-bfbc2
-portal 2
-trine 2
-sonic generations
-sonic all stars racing
-dawn of war 2 (annoying interface or not the 3d is mindblowing)
I have yet to play skyrim, the dead spaces, the batmans, the fallouts, bf3, just cause 2... it's pretty much official for me that 2D is over
thinking about it, I think sonic gens has impressed my friends the most, possibly because 3d combined with very high speed equals totally awesome.

Well after reading those comments I want to try Dead Space games again, I tried DS1 back then before Helix mod, where you had to lower depth to a minimum and up convergence to get some 3d, looked decent but gave me headaches and couldn't finish it, I'll go back to them sooner or later. DS1 was the first game I tried an helix fix and I was surprised how the game was suddenly perfectly playable in 3d, saying all the time "holy f*ck he did it!" lol, though I didn't get any further in the game by then.
Also, trine 2 is amazing in 3d but the game is so-so, puzzles are very annoying and combat is meh, it was better in trine 1, but the 3d is glorious so I kept playing it.
Also, if you are a hardened 3d user, Bioshock 2 is great in 3d, there are problems with water and some shadows but it's playable, and the game is great, for me BS1 was among the best games of this generation and BS2 is almost as good, the atmosphere of that game in 3d is mindblowing.

I must say I am a little bit surprised. Remembering this good old sticky thread (best 3D games) there was nearly every second posting saying that SKYRIM with helix-fix and some mods is simply another dimension 3D-wise. While it has been named here several times I am surprised that it is currently beaten by the likes of Arkham City and Trine 2 which have been named here more often......
Makes it even harder for me to decide which game I will enjoy next (now that I finished Fall of Cybertron yesterday). Currently I am stuck between Arkham City and Skyrim which are sitting both already on my shelf since month now. I know these are totally different games but my next game should be the one that is more impressive in 3D-terms. Unfortunately that seems to be a question that's hard to answer as they are both contenders for the Top-Spot........

You can't go wrong with any of them.I would say between BAC and skyrim go for skyrim, but I love medieval RPGs so my opinion is totally biased lol. Also if you can't give Skyrim atleast 100 hours you won't really get how great that game is. Besides there has been a post recently in the forums about how to make Skyrim look great but it needs a beast of a computer, so maybe you should hold skyrim until you can play it at its best if your computer isn't up to it.
Also, BAC follows the story of BAA, and that games is also great in 3d so if you're going to play BAC I would play BAA first.

My Computer is no problem here. There is a nice GTX-690 sitting in the tower that only needs to pump out a 720p-picture because I am playing on the Sony HMZ-T2 which is restricted to 720p (this with cranked up convergence and depth is really another dimension of gaming or should I say another dimension of actually being in the game. I even sent back my 3 x 27" Full HD-3D 3D-Vision Surround-Setup because I found the HMZ to be way more immersive although it is 720p only).
I already installed Batman (yes I already played Arkham Asylum) and Skyrim and I even tested both of them (Skyrim with helix-fix plus Mindwork's mod) and I am definitely stuck right know :-)

Cool then, I have the hmz-t1 and I agree it's a great device, which I think it's like the T2 but with worse ergonomics. BTW if you don't know already, for PS3 3d games at least with the HMZ-T1, remember to decrease TV size to minimum in the PS3 config, it improves the 3d effect a LOT, without that the 3d of the PS3 is terrible, although even with that it's still a lot worse than 3d vision.

You say it. Of course the HMZ T1/T2 (besides the ergonomics you really don't miss much, I also owned the T1 and picture-wise I see no real difference) is only great with the depth hack (also on PC you should do the depth hack) and of course the adjustable convergence (which in most cases is just not possible on PS3). With depth hack and good convergence settings the HMZ is in a league of its own! You can't really compare PS3 3D with 3D-Vision 3D even if both machines are connected to the HMZ. 3D Vision on a PC is dimensions better than the crappy PS3 3D and I mean that literally.......a PS3 depth hack doesn't change that fact. And that is coming from someone who always prefered console gaming over PC-gaming back in the days. But you're right. The depth hack on the PS3 makes the crappy 3D a little better.......

Agreed, but for me PS3 has it uses, you can easily pack PS3 and hmz-t1 and play some decent 3d games if you travel a lot, not so much with your full desktop PC, though I bought an ASUS G53SX-IX122V laptop for this same reason and I haven't been able to make them work.

BTW, I forgot to add Mass Effect 3 with the Helix fix, it looks great, also Metro 2033 is really good.

quite the random necropost indeed.
all the games I listed back then are great in 3D but Tomb Raider absolutely obliterates all of them, it's easily the most impressive work of digital art I have ever seen.

I know this got necro'd, but I'm just going to say that Rayman Legends was my absolute favorite 3D experience.
If I'm being honest, Rayman Origins was my favorite experience, but Legends just did Origins but all over better so if I had to pick one best it would beat Origins out.
