Batman Arkham Asylum 3D issues?
  2 / 2
Ok, I figured out the problem... It seems so stupid which is why I overlooked it before but having the Motion Blur option ON made everything go to sh*t.

Yes, that's all it was... Maxing out every single option and turning Motion Blur off makes the game run perfectly in 3D vision now. Turn on that option and everything grinds to a halt...

Also there is a problem with Anti-Alias 16Q, makes everything blurry and messed up, drop it down to 16x and it runs great.

Thanks for all your help with this guys, really appreciate it.

I don't know why my rig is the only one experiencing this issue but for others that might have the same problem, it's motion blur and 16Q, 16x is fine.

Edit: Thanks Distant for showing me the ways...

You're welcome, glad it works out for you.
BTW, do you know that you should be fined and hung by your toe for possessing an i7 and not overclocking it? /no.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> You could potentially double your frame rate ...especially if you have 2 or 3 SLI GPUs. /yes.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Batman for me is by far one of the best if not the best 3D gaming experience I've ever had together with Left for Dead.
I have 2 GTX 280 in SLI and I play with all settings maximized and Physx High and get an average of 50fps, some parts it slows downs to 25fps like the scarecrow scene, but it makes sense cause it has so much physx and combined with S3D it slows down the game, but most of the time the game runs smoothly. I did not turn off motion blur and the game runs flawlessy in 3d with that option enabled though I do use AA4x, there's is no need for more than AA4x in S3D for any game, it will only decrease performance while not adding anything to the game's graphics. In 2D I agree more AA makes a diiference, but not in 3D as aliasing is definatelly not an issue in 3D mode, it's like it doesn't exist at all even if you turn off AA.

Batman runs great for me too, but I tried turning off motion blur anyway and found that it allowed me to increase the depth without making the far off textures look blurry. Before turning off motion blur I had to keep my depth set at less than 50% to keep the far off textures from looking blurry. I can now set depth to close to 100% without affecting the far off textures. Awesome game in S3D!

I also found that the phyxis in the retail version runs much better for me than it did in the demo. The scene with breakable tiles in the demo would come to a crawl on my machine in the demo, but in the full game the same scene plays fine and I have seen no framerate issues related to phyxis.

Guess what, they don't give a crap. iz3D, even TriDef are members, along with Electonic Arts, but nVidia, nah. nVidia really don't give a crap. Get over it, nVidia almost killed S3D, only to pull a back-flip with there own product after 2 years of killing the rest of the industry products. Go buy a iz3D screen, you'll have much beter support and the latest games are actually supported!

Edit: I posted this knowing nVidia's moderators wont touch the post, the forums are completly unmoderated. We have free raign, and nVidia suck. If they got 10x the amount of sales things would be different but they didn't so here I am typing this.[/quote]

Yet nvidia provides the best quality s3d gaming with a decent amount of games , and now that games are being made with nvidia 3d in mind they look even better

Yes, this game really uses Physx like I've never seen any game relased before using this feature so much. Physx are an awesome effect and Nvidia really did a great job on that feature.
Physx combined with S3D mode is just frigging awesome, sometimes I don't even believe what I'm seeing while playing this game, it feels so much real, the spider webs in the pipes, the smoke coming out of the ground, papers that interact if you walk across it.

Well, I must say that I also play this game with 50% depth, I did try to increase it but it will get all blurry, maybe it's because I leave motion blur option enabled, so I'll try to disable it and see if it gets better while increasing depth to more than 60%. Do you think there's no loss in the game's graphics by turning off motion blur in 3D mode???

We all must agree that this game simply kicks ass in S3D mode, it's a full 3D game all the way. RE5 I thought was gonna be the best 3D experience, I guess I thought wrong.. Batman is a much better 3D experience, increasing convergance makes a big difference in gameplay.

I don't think the problem is that they don't care about S3D....not at all. The fact that they took the resources to create 3D Vision speaks for itself.

It seems more like Nvidia just wants to make their product VERY proprietary and not mingle with other people's tech. They're doing the usual Nvidia thing and trying to control the market - this time with a proprietary product, like what Apple did with iPod. That would explain why Nvidia hasn't joined the S3DGA, because they want to do things their own way to maximize profit. Of course this WILL backfire when the S3DGA and the BDA (Blu-ray disc association) decide on the industry standard they'll use, and thanks to their concerted marketing effort it will no doubt become more popular than the proprietary 3D Vision which Nvidia doesn't properly market. It cannot be used without its USB dongle, so unless Nvidia plays nice with the 3D consortiums, their glasses won't be compatible with future stand-alone 3D TVs for use with Blu-ray players, video game consoles, and perhaps most importantly, cable and satellite boxes for when 3D finally enters the television mainstream. They will not form the industry standard around a proprietary USB dongle, Nvidia will have to change the way its product works, or just stay as a PC-only deal like it is now.

The end result of that would be this question: Are people really going to want two sets of glasses? One would be the industry standard used by their 3D TV for blu-ray movies, PS3/360/whatever, and television, and the other being 3D Vision for their computer, using the same TV? No, Nvidia's would just be pushed out of the market in favor of a single shutter tech that works with everything rather than forcing people to own a separate pair just for the specific use of PC games. It will come down to whomever can afford better marketing, and I'm leaning towards the joint effort of everyone else rather than the sole Nvidia.

Good points and I agree mostly.

What separates Nvidia from Apple (or 3Dvision from "I" products) is that the "I" products have the softwares to match its hardware making it an irresistible solution that elicits user's loyalty that stems from satisfaction and in turn admiration. Instead, 3DVision has shoddy stereoscopic photo viewer (no zoom, pan, batch, format conversions, poor GUI), crippled S3D driver (no convergence presets, no autoconvergence, no convergence OSD, no OpenGL support, no Windowed mode S3D, no backward compatibility with Geforce 7 series and older, no DirectX7 and older support etc.), no new game profiles and recently, even locked convergence games like Resident Evil 5.

I've been always buying Nvidia graphics card since Geforce 4, then 5,6,7,8 and now the 200 series. You can say that's remarkable brand loyalty, but it was circumstantial simply because Nvidia has been the only brand that offers S3D, besides that - Nvidia has done nothing to improve my satisfaction as a consumer and as a consequence the moment there is a viable alternative solution I can see myself leaving Nvidia with absolute joy knowing with delight that capital selection will sort its fate out eventually.

Can someone tell me how to turn 'motion blur' off in Batman GOTY please? Do I do it via the game itself? If so, I can't see it in any of the game options. If not, where is it and how do I deactivate it?

I'm pretty sure the motion blur is the problem I'm having - everything around Batman is pretty blurry, except the things that are moving, like Joker strapper to that gurney.

Can someone help pls?

This is the only game I'm having the issue with - everything else seems fine.

I think you need to run the launcher....
instead off starting the game with the left mouse button, you open it with the right, and click on 'launcher'.
