Playing this now, and it's great in 3D, despite still being "unrated" by nvidia. The only issue I've found (I'm midway through world 2) is that the cutscenes sometimes have some depth inconsistencies. Very minor, since the cutscenes are short, few, and inconsequential. Actually, the game seems to run much smoother in 3D for some reason. When I played in 2D, I detected some weird microstuttering and framerate issues that made the action hard to follow and made my eyes sore. Googling it, it seems others have had similar problems. Playing in 3D seems to have made all the problems go away. The motion seems much smoother, and the graphics seem much crisper. I can make out fine details in characters now that I couldn't before - at least not without having to strain my eyes. Weird. It's almost like this game was always meant for 3D without the devs even realising it. Either that or I'm just so used to 3D now that 2D is hard for my eyes to adjust to.

Actually, I should warn anyone thinking of getting this game that the blurring issue that I mentioned above is trickier than I thought. The game has some really horrible blur, screentearing (even with vsync on sometimes), and stuttering. All of those make the game borderline unplayable, since it's all about precise timing and reacting quickly to what you see in front of you. There are loads of threads around the place that complain about these things - especially the blur. There's even one titled "How do I turn off the motion blur setting?", which shows you how bad the blur is (there is no motion blur setting! It's just the broken game!) I've not found any concrete answers to the problem. The blur doesn't happen for everyone. Some people swear that the solution is to get a 120Hz monitor. That's clearly not the solution, since I already have one. Also, the game is capped at 60Hz. Others suggest forcing 32CSAA antialiasing in the nvidia driver. That causes Runner 2 and the driver to crash for me. Many people insist it's just a regular case of LCD refresh delay. It is not. The people who complain about this issue say that they have not encountered anything like it with any other game. Playing in 3D solved it for me on the first day, but then the blur returned. Since then, I've tried various combinations of in-game vsync, driver vsync, driver rollback, fullscreen/windowed mode, 2D/3D mode. I finally got it to work ok again (blur and tearing was gone, though stuttering remained), but I couldn't tell what the solution was, or if it was just a fluke. So, to cut a long story short: It's a really fun game, and is superior to the first one. The game looks and plays great in 3D...*if* it's behaving itself. If it's not behaving itself, you'll get horrible blur, stuttering, and/or screen tearing. There seems to be no way to tell if it'll work for you, so consider buying it a risk.
