Will 3D Vision work on 100Mhz CRTs? I failed the on line test - Why?
Folks...
I am running a modern core2 dual 2.6Ghz Vista box with 4GBs of RAM. I am running a 880GTX with over 700MBs of RAM on the video card. My display is a ViewSonic G225F CRT monitor.
The literature on 3D Vision says it will work on a CRT of 100Mhz or higher. I am running my CRT at 100Mhz. But when I do the on line test to see if my hardware will work for 3D Vision, I always FAIL. It says I need a LCD monitor of some sort. What is the deal?
I want to view shutter glass type DVD movies I have on my computer. I watched them on my TV, but now I want to see them with the higher refresh rate on my 100Mhz CRT.
What am I missing? I hate to spend the money for the 3D vision kit if it will not work.

There should be no problems using your CRT monitor if it is able to work at 100 Hz, although by using LCD you will get better results.
It just seems that the online tool is designed to make you get one of the compatible 120 Hz LCDs... ;)

Hello....
Thank you for the information. I have several DVDs of movies. The movies are in a 3D format called "Field Sequential", or "Shutter Glass". All I want to do is view the movies on my computer.
Do I understand the Nvida's "3D Vision" solution in that it is a turn key solution to viewing my movies? Or do I need to install other 3rd party software or any thing else?
The movies play fine on my TV. On my TV, I have a field sequential box connected between my DVD player and my TV. I have wireless glasses. But because the refresh rate is so slow, it would not be as good as playing them on my graphic series G225f View Sonic CRT monitor.
So, just to be sure before I spend my money - 3D Vision will work on my 8800GTX, my CRT monitor, and it will pay my field sequential DVDs?
"dial M for Murder" and "It came from Outer Space" should look great on my 100Mhz computer CRT!
Thank you for your help. I wish Nvida had more documentation on line. I am not a game playing kind of a guy, but love old 3D movies....
