well, thank you very much, it clarifies a lot ))) but i skipped SOMA as well as other similar titles because of eye sync, and i tried even less demanding games even on the lowest settings, it was 60FPS but always with that effect.
Try SOMA and see if it runs to your liking;) Hopefully DOOM will have the same performance as it;) if not... 2D;) Maybe they added DX support to the game;) in which case this will not be a problem;) EDIT: Removed the "Ignore for now" cause people ignored my "ignore" request anyway;))
i skipped it after trying... :-) DOOM comes out tomorrow, we can't ignore it no more ;-)

I'm gonna be honest, I had completely written this game off. After watching the direct feed: http://www.geforce.com/whats-new/articles/geforce-gtx-doom-vulkan-direct-feed-gameplay-video however, it actually looks like a traditional Doom game. It's absolutely insane looking. I've done a 180 on it.

Yupp! Classic DOOM re-invented I would say;) I am really curious as how OpenGL performance will be VS Vulkan to be honest;) I am also pondering if I should add Vulkan Support for my wrapper or better yet make a Vulkan Wrapper from scratch:) Vulkan is very new and I will have to see how things evolve over time to see if is worth the effort;) But in any case 2D or 3D the game looks awesome;)
I've done a 180 on it.
Me too. Watching the first gameplay trailers, played on consoles, I thought it was too slow and consolized. But the video done with a GTX 1080 amazed me. "That's the kind of gameplay I like", I thought at that moment.

Nvidia posted a video yesterday. TitanX running Vulkan 1080P 120FOV 60 FPS ( I assume 60 FPS V-sync cap?) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=anrvBD4aTGY And 4 days ago, the GTX 1080 running Vulkan at up to 200FPS on Ultra settings https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0y3LaLJoo0s

It also depends on the CPU and not only the GPU, especially when it comes to this crappy ID5 engine... see Wolfenstein Old Blood that does for example not run super smooth in normal resolution when maxed out on my Titan X.

Good news: - Engine is unlocked. I couldn't see any "eye-lag" issues (but I am running 2x980Ti) Bad news: - The game will require A LOT OF FIXING.... I currently am trying to fix the major issues...

Man, just played the first couple missions. Gonna be hard to hold off until a fix is ready on this one, but I'm sure it'll be worth it. No rush, of course. You've been working like a madman on fixes lately so I'm sure it's starting to wear you out a bit. Gotta say, this was the first time I played a game in 2D at 120 FPS/Hz, and it almost made me dizzy with how fast and smooth the motion is and my difficulty to focus (I get that when playing a FPS in 2D now, my eyes won't tolerate the lack of depth in 3D). After 5 mins or so all was well, but in all my years of playing I've never experienced motion sickness, but this was getting pretty close. Good luck with the fix, and if there's anything I can do to help (since I might be the only other shader hacker with the game already) give me a shout!

Theres a driver update btw. Also they just added a season pass- MP only. Its a bit sad if they skipped SP dlc to avoid controversy. I have a feeling I will replay it at least once and it would be cool to add more kill animations, level variations[traits], etc. Oh well.

Holy christ, just played some MP (figured that might make a good diversion while waiting to play SP in 3D), and sweet mother of Joseph that was, quite possibly, the most fun I've had since Quake 2 MP (which was basically my first online gaming experience). Thanks for the heads up about the driver eqzitara. As is, running on driver 359.00, performance of this game is outstanding! Steam reviews have people saying they can run it on their toaster, so it's no surprise Ultra settings on a 980 Ti I'm getting a solid 120+ fps. A driver update sure can't hurt though... oh wait, we are talking about Nvidia after all.

i have stayed @ 359.00 too. ... after that games started to broke. I have not had so much problems with drivers untill my upgrade to 980ti. but most of those problems are 980ti + 3D related, 2d has always worked great.
