Ok, I have had my 3D vision for like 4 months, but haven't used it in 2 months because the framerate is just to low.
My specs: Vista 32 bit
4gig DDR
GTX 280
AMD X2 4800+ (939 socket)
I play on a HL61A750 Sammy TV. Its 61 inches and I have it all hookedup right.
The 3D vision is awesome, but with the games I play... I never get above 30fps.
L4D I get a steady 30 FPS.
Team Fortress 2 - I get 20 or under.
How do I optimize my machine so I get a better frame rate? I probably need to update my drivers for one.
But now when I play on my big screen, its hard for me to get a good framerate in the first place... does anybody have suggestions... i have my game settings turned down?
or is it just time for me to upgrade from my 939 socket system and get some ddr3?

The common problem here is the Nvidia Laser Sight. If you have advanced options enabled I want you to disable the lasersight.
You'll soon find out that your FPS becomes playable. I see an easy 25-30+ FPS drop when the laser-sight is enabled.
With it disabled, consequently, you will see 2 aiming sights on your screen. It kinda bites, but andrew has informed us that they are working on it.
Hang in there. You have a good machine, it's on their part to fix this bug. Try it out though. Disable the laser-sight and see the performance incease.

Also, what about the problem, when you have a teamate run infront of you and thier name/stats pop up and smack you in the face??? I have to refocus my eyes every time... any help there?

Not sure if there is a way to disable this. I'll have to check up on that when I get off work.

Well out of your system the only thing holding you back is your CPU.
You should be getting much better frames with a GTX 280.
I have my Core 2 Duo overclocked to 4.0Ghz at the moment and it's sick..
I also have a GTX 280 and my frames are rock solid, and fluid.
I would upgrade your processor if you can afford it..

with Left 4 Dead, that's an issue with the depth of the character names which the game engine controls, not us. We are in touch with many developer now to educate them on how to properly support hover text in their games.

Besides form the lasersight, you can always just deactivate AA and AF settings if the game has them enabled by default, you probably won't notice any difference on this screen at 1920x1080 resolution, especially in high paced fps and other action games, but you should be able to get nice improvement in the framerate. Also lowering the detail level and/or disabling some effects can help achieve better framerates. Your CPU isn't limiting much the games, but you can still think about overclocking it a bit to get better results if you still haven't done so...
