Im lost. Iwant to game and watch 3D movies.
Any buying guide? Iheard Optoma 142x is good projector. Expensive doe. or some GT1080 eve more expensive, 720p versuion little less. And there is acer h7550st
I saw d8000 for 300€ 5 year old 3D samsung TV. Good deal? will it work for at least 2 more years?
How about projector or monitor? is 1440p deal breaker ? For me 1080p on 24" is too little for FPS (Squad) to pinpoint enemies, even with 2.0x rendering.
Or will 720p projector be enough?
I just want 3d. I saw it, i dont want to go back to 2d. I purchased 3D vision 2.
I also heard good about the Doll House effect, how to achieve it? Is it great?
Is there fix for 1080p projectors? Im already tired of watching monitor at arms length all day. May shell out more cash if its worth it.
Will play:
Morrowind
Portal 2
Killing Floor
Little of Insurgency
Fallout NV
Skyrim
NFSU2
Witcher
...
Have: Gtx 1050ti
Thank you.

I would absolutely jump on that D8000. That will give you a great start in 3D gaming. It offers checkerboard 3D which is currently the best resolution you can get with a single monitor. Projectors i believe (please correct me if i am wrong) are limited to 720p, but don't have to be scaled across an un-ideal number of other pixels when they are displayed so they are very clear and detailed for the resolution and quite a few people say they prefer them over TVs, even checkerboard TVs.
My experience and recommendation for the TV is based off of viewing on from only 1 meter away, less even. Its at the back of my desk, frees up the entire desk surface, is easier on my eyes than a regular monitor too. But the main point is that i think the FOV it gives you is perhaps more important than the size of the display, so if you plan to use it from much further away than 1 meter i think i would recommend a projector.
You will love the hell out of those games with a big screen 3D setup i bet. Those are primarily immersive games where its about the experience and world just as much as traditional gameplay.
Since you already bought 3D Vision 2 (which i just only now read) you might be better off just getting a supported projector if you have the space for it. 720p is probably enough, but i think 3D is worth a try no matter what you buy. If you didn't know, with 3DTV's you use Nvidias 3DTV Play software and the TV manufacturer's own 3D glasses.

Speaking about that projector vs tv - I used to use benq 1070 projector with 135" screen watching from around 3m. And now use lg oled 55" sitting around 1.2m from it - it is just on my desk :) So there is something with that huge screen of projector - image just looks more real. But tv is better in all other aspects - colors, brightness is hugely better, dark colors, resolution. Though DLP projector is ghosting free, and passive tv has some ghosting. And passive tv 3d seems easier on eyes than dlp active 3d. So all in all I prefer tv, but unfortunately it seems there is no perfect technology now :) And yes, I have sony hmd3 too :)

so what you prefer, what u use more?
like for skyrim ,killing floor 2... does mountain look more real and distant on TV or the 100" projector?
D8000 looks like now very appealing ... might hop on it. but i must say maybe i will regret it?

Note that D8000 uses its own (Samsung) 3D glasses, not NVIDIA's glasses and emitter. Also, 3DTV Play introduces around 17 msec additional response lag when using 1080p mode (because it forces 24 Hz Desktop and keyboard/mouse/controller sampling). I found this additional lag, when combined with TV's own average display lag (for HDTVs), made some action games unplayable for me. 720p mode does not have this problem - but I found the resolution too low...

I think the biggest difference here is the Price.
Put that oled Price onto a projector and you a whole different experience.
Specially if you watch anything else withit than games.
But i gotta admit even the normal Uh series 3d tv that is about same Price than BenQ 1070
Or 1110 is pretty good on 3d. I just find tvs 3d a bit flat. Though i use dual projector setup so thats not
Propably that conparable. And i personally like big picture.
But its personal preference. Some like monitors and 3d surround.
Pick your poison by testing all choises and remember every choise is a conpromise propably
Even you had the cash to have your display device created specially for you.

I can only say my opinion about monitors. Asus PG278QR is the best 1440p monitor I've used for 3D (the other one I had was the Dell S2716DG), and it's also brighter in 3D than the Dell. However, in 1440p monitors you can't change the strobe length of Lightboost. It's always at 100% (2.4ms at 120Hz, more than I'd like).
It's also better than the BenQ XL2411Z I had before.
I also heard good about the Doll House effect, how to achieve it? Is it great?
You get it by increasing convergence. For example, a good way of doing it is using 3rd person camera in Skyrim with the camera being far above the character. Then make the floor be at screen depth or slightly inside it. Characters and houses will look like toys on top of your screen :).

I am interested on the comparison between Asus PG278QR and Dell S2716DG (in 2D and 3D mode), specially somebody who knows what is 3D gaming.
Currently I have the Dell S2716DG, and it is a good monitor but could be better, of course. Some 3D ghosting, OSD not very good, etc.

Well, that's me :p. I had the A01 version of the Dell S2716DG. The Asus PG278QR is a lot better for 3D. It has a lot less ghosting in 3D (especially in bright situations like snow or deserts), less noticeable vertical scanlines (still existing. It's a pixel inversion problem that all monitors seem to have in one way or another), noticeably more brightness in 3D, less inverse ghosting in 2D movement like in testufo, and a native gamma option in the OSD with 3 settings (which makes it not have color banding problems).
The differences aren't that staggering when playing in 2D, though. Both have grainy AG coating (newer revision of the Dell don't).
I still didn't sell the Dell due to laziness...

@whyme: The Samsung D8000 has checkerboard 3D mode that runs at 60hz. It doesn't have to scale the rez from 720p to 1080p which has been tested to add input lag on at least some models.
FoxHoleNorman: You can always resell anything you buy if you don't like it. The old 3DTVs seem to hold there value very well (too well IMO) and i see people charging more than $500 most of the time.
I can't remember what the D8000's input lag was but i thought it was the same as my Samsung ES7500 which is one year newer than the D8000. According to https://displaylag.com/display-database/ my ES7500 has only 1ms difference from the D8000, which could be wrong because of how TV manufacturers source TV manufacture from all over the place yet generally call difference display productions the same model number.
The input lag on my ES7500 (one year newer than 8000 i think) is not that bad IMO and skyrim and any games that run at high fps on my 570SLI seem to me like they have no input lag because my brain simply gets used to it after while. I think for me, for games like Skyrim, the tiny bit of lag actually feels good because a little lag to human movement while we build up the necessary momentum is natural. So with a high frame rate condition, sometimes even if i move my mouse around i can't detect much of any input lag. It may take some time to get used to.
But it seems like to me that if there is any lag due to the game being hard for my cards to run, adding to the ultimate input delay, it can really be a problem and for Battlefield 3, i ended up playing in 2D because when trying quickly put my reticule over a small target about to shoot me was too hard due to the delay. With Battlefield Bad Company 2 i played online with 3D. (awesome single player campaign in 3D in that game btw). With DayZ i used to play in 2D when going into cities due to the likelihood of encountering another player.
If input lag ends up really bothering in the games that you play you could try a 27" 3D monitor, just pull it closer to you and maybe setup a monitor arm swivel so its off the ground. I tried it, it was okay but i didn't like the feel of the game worlds because of the smaller size of objects. My eyes focusing on that distance wasn't ideal either. If i did it again, i thought maybe i'd carefully tape some reading glasses to the 3D glasses, which sets your eyes to focus to infinity and doesn't squeeze the lenses in the eye, and so you can pull the monitor as close as you want to create a bigger FOV to the game worlds.

I made up my mind. It would be good entry to 3D, great one, but im not settling for something doomed to fail.
Id rather buy a cheap 3D monitor, at least i would be able to play all games normally.
But both options, there is eye strain and i dont want that.
Ill get a projector. Even 65" TV wont give me enough im sure and i dont wanna blow 300€ on old TV in 2017.

Wait, i thought playing 1080p on TV and Monitor is same strain on gpu?
I wanna buy projector now, thats limited to 720p anyway.
What about checkboard 1080p, isnt that just every second pixel rendered?
Im clueless lol.
Anyway, im blown away by even Cyan 3D, i want full 3d Experience.

46" Samsung ES7500 3DTV (checkerboard, high FOV as desktop monitor, highly recommend!) - Metro 2033 3D PNG screens - Metro LL filter realism mod - Flugan's Deus Ex:HR Depth changers - Nvidia tech support online form - Nvidia support: 1-800-797-6530

I wanna buy projector now, thats limited to 720p anyway.
What about checkboard 1080p, isnt that just every second pixel rendered?
Im clueless lol.
Anyway, im blown away by even Cyan 3D, i want full 3d Experience.
