Third party Nvidia 3D glasses not working!?
Hello everyone, this is my first post, and I hope it will be the last as well! :P So what happened is I purchased these 3D glasses: http://www.ebay.com/itm/260954524274?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649 which say that are compatible with Nvidia. I followed every step in the manual, but when I try to play a game, it will not give me the 3d effect. Also, when I am running the 3d stereo setup from the control panel, it won't detect it for some reason, probably because it's third party. Any suggestions?

Hi, These glasses and emmitter are fake so no wonder they do'nt work. They have them at ebay uk for £30, a second hand 3dvision 1 kit can be got for same price. I allso believe nvidia stopped the emitter rom working somehow around 4-6 month ago. The best your gonna get to try is a fresh windows install with no ethernet/internet connected, install old drivers from lets say 7 month ag and then see if it works, you'll have todo all this as a fresh windws install and with no internet so nvidia cant update while installing, or nvidia has added teh block to all the drivers and then re-hosted them ? Dno you could allways try a older driver from a dfferent website and not nvidia's.

They definitely are not fake, knock-offs they surely are. They also used to work and beside being a little flimsy they had the advantage of being capable swapping L/R eye with the press of a key (and having a USB port ready for charging the glasses. Anyway I also have reports about them not to work anymore and as
nvidia stopped the emitter rom working somehow
it might well be they adressed that too. Leaving aside considerations if that's a wise move from a marketing perspective (as 3Dvision definitely is a dying technology) you cannot blame them on the other hand as they never licensed this product and it's their good right to protect their IP....

They are fake knockoffs that have backward engineered hardware, i have a kit myself that has stopped working allso and ebay seller confirms they no longer work aswell, makes me wonder why there still selling them if they know they dont work anymore ? The glasses compared to 3dvision 1 glasses are night and day allso, the knockoffs are good enough to give very high seperation with zero xtalk on a dlp, allthough doing 3dvision blogs xtalk test it shows the glasses to have very poor block out unfority all over the lenses where as the 3dvision 1 glasses are what seem 100% perfect but both glasses give very good xtalk performance.

I know somebody who has got 'em and could compare to mine. (That's also my source I know they stopped working). So I do know exactly how they differ from the real thing. When I said they are not "fake" I only meant they are not selling those as the original item (which usually is the case with fake products) but just as compatible (which is no longer true anyway). As much as I agree they are a blunt copy/knock-off and legality is doubtful they are not a pure backward engineering thing and here is why: they have a feature to swap eyes which is not in the original HW and they also use a differnt IR protocol to sync the glasses (cannot use the other glasses on either transmitter). All they did was "stealing" the PID/VID so the stereo driver would kick in and then just grab the sync signal through USB. Which makes me wonder how nvidia could block em out - given PID/VID is identical. In the end there are 3 things to learn: nvidia could improve on the feature set, lower the price, and customers should stay away from Chinese glasses;) Anyway I would recommend to go the extra mile for the larger 3Dvision2 glasses to anyone in the market for new glasses, if it's got to be nvidia at all, that is...
Any suggestions?
If I was you I'd take it up with the seller, they might offer your money back. Make sure they pay for return shipping if any. If ... that's a big IF, everything's working here, everything's compatible monitor, glasses and emitter. You might possibly be able to get TriDef to work.
