I'd say it's similar to usual tv-use. Kick him out sometimes for a nice game of football or similar. :D
The only thing i can think of if that someone experiences eye-strain they should either take it easier with the settings or simply take a break. It's not suppoused to hurt.

First off, how old is your son? If he is younger than 7, then they claim it could be harmful to his developing eyes. Personally, I don't think it causes harm, but you should be aware. Otherwise I think they recommend taking a 10 minute break every half hour. Personally I think this amount can be more like 1 hour or longer and still be fine. I know I have personally clocked in 3 or 4 hour gaming sessions in 3D with no problem. But if your son is young and/or inexperienced with 3D then he probably shouldn't go that long. Also, if he routinely complains about eye-strain or headaches, you may want to take him to a doctor to get his eyes checked. Some mild eye-strain may be normal the first time you see 3D, but after a sort while your eyes will adjust. So if its a constant problem, then it may be a symptom of a more serious issue. If he doesn't complain, then you probably don't have anything to worry about.
