I have a GTX 295 and the same problems here.
I've executed the tests exactly as requested.
SLI OFF
DX9 2D - 57 fps
DX9 3D - 20 fps
DX10 2D - 46 fps
DX10 3D - 28 fps
SLI ON
DX9 2D - 89 fps
DX9 3D - 30 fps
DX10 2D - 83 fps
DX10 3D - 24 fps
It's more than clear that there is some problem with the SLI + DX10 combination with 3D activated.
I really hope that the NVIDIA fix this as soon as possible.
Thank you for the consideration and sorry for my bad english.
Based on that data the problem seems to be with either DX9 or DX10 and 3d vision.
I mean you got DX9 that goes from 89fps to 30 a 59fps drop then you got DX10 that goes from 83 to 24 again a 59fps drop so I see no difference between the two.
I was playing the game with my GTX295 and had the same issue on windows 7 64 bits.
It drops dramatically when on 3D and the SLI bars just center and do not show any activity although on my G15 I do see both of my cars being heated up real good so it is very weird.

Agree. Need SLI and or 3DVision update to solve this problem.
Very low fps with poor SLI scaling in this game @1920x1080 on new acer 3D monitor.
Essentially unplayable, whereas other games (CODMW2, MirrorsEdge, BatmanAA)have excellent 3D / SLI performance.

I'm in the same boat, unfortunately from what I've read so far on this, it is unlikely to be fixed by the drivers - due to the way the game has been written (unless there will be major rewrite of the drivers).
Again, it is just a speculation based on what I've read.

Looks like this results in a dead end with no fix as of yet, I'm seeing nearly identical results as the others with this game with 3D and SLI with GTX 280 SLI.
DX9 SLI 2D = 70FPS
DX9 SLI 3D = 15-20FPS
DX10 SLI 2D = 90FPS
DX10 SLI 3D = 20FPS
Surprised more people haven't bubbled this one to the top given its included in the TD 3D Vision promo bundle, hopefully it gets fixed soon, the game and 3D effects look great.
Update.
So I just ran a few more tests and also tried the different Stereo SLI modes listed in nHancer to no effect. Here's the results I'm seeing, though, I think its a stereo driver bottleneck as both GPU utilization and CPU utilization decrease as soon as 3D is enabled:
CPU utilization also varied accordingly, 30-40% with 3D, 50-60% with 2D on a Core i7 @ 4GHz. Also enabled/disabled 4xAA and it only slightly increased FPS in 2D, did not change FPS at all in 3D.

This is very dissapointing that many of us dedicated high-end SLI users (read: we bought 2xGPUs) cannot get a sli/3Dvision profile that works so many months after the release of such an important title.
Fortunately in my three years of using SLI this has been rare (GTA4, and a few others).

Just an update on Avatar and SLI support with 2xGTX 480 in SLI:
SLI and 3D Vision does appear to be working in DX9 mode only. I get 45-60FPS and both GPU are showing utilization in the 80-90% range.
SLI and 3D Vision still appears to be broken in DX10 mode, as I only get 30-40FPS in 3D, but cap at 120FPS when I click the receiver for 2D. When in 3D, GPU utilization is only ~40-50% for each GPU, so its basically performing the same as a single GPU would.
I spent some time messing with the various Stereo SLI modes in nHancer along with the DX10 compatibility bits but no success. Such a shame really because this game has some amazing graphics and looks absolutely stunning in 3D Vision. Its just not a very pleasant experience at 20-40FPS.

Based on that data the problem seems to be with either DX9 or DX10 and 3d vision.

DX10 SLI 3D: 19FPS, 42%GPU1, 37%GPU2
DX10 SLI 2D: 86FPS, 61%GPU1, 58%GPU2
CPU utilization also varied accordingly, 30-40% with 3D, 50-60% with 2D on a Core i7 @ 4GHz. Also enabled/disabled 4xAA and it only slightly increased FPS in 2D, did not change FPS at all in 3D.

This is very dissapointing that many of us dedicated high-end SLI users (read: we bought 2xGPUs) cannot get a sli/3Dvision profile that works so many months after the release of such an important title.
Fortunately in my three years of using SLI this has been rare (GTA4, and a few others).
