Rift side of screen not rendering right. Very weird..
Greetings all.

I have been having the weirdest problem with Rift in 3D. I know there are alot of issues but I have not seen anyone else post this one...

The problem is that on each side of the screen in an area directly related to the amount of depth separation, does not render after the game first loads. For instance when I load in everything is fine but as soon as I look around the problem becomes apparent. The even weirder part is that the names of people do render in this area but stay forever. So with a little looking around and there is this jumble of green text from name plates on ether side of the screen. As I adjust the depth wheel the area that does not render right gets larger as I turn it up and smaller as I reduce the effect. The part of the screen that is rendering right shrinks as I turn the effect up.

This is the only game I have had this issue with. and I have tried a host of others...

my specs are...

Phenom II x6 1090t
8GB RAM
560Ti SLi
Asus 23" 120hz

Rift does not work in 3D with the default EXE name. The behaviour you're seeing means you haven't renamed the EXE and hacked the launcher to force a "default" profile, thus the game is not even rendering in 3D - you're seeing a 2D rendering "inside" your monitor.

Adjust the convergence all the way back and you will see that it will look like 3DVision isn't even turned on.

You can play in Low Quality rendering mode if you rename the EXE and it works OK, but there are serious issues with the HQ rendering.

This is old info I think. As of 270.61 it does have a profile of its own and tries to render in 3D but there are lots of ghosting. The new 275 beta drivers look much better but I still get this weird side of screen not rendering right.. Granted I have uninstaled the 275s cuss as they fixed a few things they totally broke World of Tanks..

It's not old info. The profile just doubles everything, there is no depth. Changing the exe as before works, but lights and water and other things are still broken. In fact I think they didn't really change the old "The Rift" profile apart from changing the name to "Rift". It still behaves exactly the same as before, the profile is more broken than running without a profile.

Just a heads up, but apparently 3d vision surround is working as of 275.27 and the current RIFT patch. I know it definitely was NOT working last week. It is working for me tonight though after I updated to the beta driver and patched RIFT current as of 5/26/2011.

The "view compatibility with games" list in the the nvidia drivers still says "not recommended" but it works great for me. Even the character names overhead are at right depth. Donno if this was fixed on the NVIDIA side or on the RIFT side, but whoever fixed it it's infinitely better than it was previously. Before it was simply unplayable, now it looks like everything works right.

You are wrong. Seperation is exactly the same on all objects no matter what depth, so there actually is no depth at all.
