I must be an idiot... This 3d is killing me
OK.... So. My 3d vision works.... on the test. I click test stereoscopic 3d in the nvidia panel and hey, everything looks amazing. Good, great, grand, amazing... I try to run it to watch movies, my glasses don't come on. Games, I can't even find how to enable the damned things and when I bought this last set of glasses it CAME with duke nukem forever. You would think that I could 3d with it? All I want to know, is why my glasses don't come on outside of the test application. I've tried the enable 3d and disable 3d in the start menu and what not.... I can't find any options to enable it in duke nukem. In WoW the enable stereoscopic doesn't change anything, in fact I think the menu for it disappeared in a recent patch. Thanks for any help you guys can provide for me. Sorry I'm such a noob, I'm sure it's something I'm doing since the glasses work on the test application.

I'm running an Alienware m17x with 3d vision ready display.

Thanks in advance,

-Sam-

3D should come on by default in any 3D game. You can always turn it on/off manually by pressing the green button the IR emitter or by pressing CNTL+T. In the options for 3D in the NV Control panel there is an option to 'disable 3d on game startup' which may be enabled and why it is not going into 3D immediately. But just try pressing the button on the emitter or cntl+T, you should see the green light on the emitter go from a normal green to a bright green when 3D is on.

You're amazing Cheez, I knew I was a moron lol. the 3d glasses are coming on now. Duke Nukem Forever, however, seems to be off on their 3d, but I've heard good reviews for it. Any reason my glasses would flicker on and off every 10 seconds. It's not a set time frame when they go from off to on, it's very random. When they are on the 3d is terrible as well, it's not the right kind or something. Thanks again for making them come on!

Sounds like you need to do some reading on how to adjust 'depth' (using the wheel on the back of the emitter) as well as 'convergence' (using CNT+F5 and CNT+F6, after enabling in the control panel) and what these setting mean and do. They have a dramatic effect on how the 3D looks and sometimes need adjusted to correct how the game looks. Everyone's 3D settings are unique based on the monitor, viewing distance, etc, and sometimes a game's default setting will not look good and needs adjusting.

Also, make sure the IR emitter is not getting blocked occasionally (by your mouse hand, for example) - depending on the specifics of the room you're in may need direct line of sight to the glasses.

There's also things like making sure the game is running @ 120hz, etc. Searching the forums will be your best friend in getting used to 3D. Most likely any question you'll ask has been asked before so search for a quick answer.

When you set up your 3d, during the wizard, did you select the second option saying that you have other remote control items in your room?

For some reason, selecting this causes a very annoying random flicker.

Selecting the first option to say that you are using this exclusively seems to solve the problem, and doesn't seem to case a problem with the multiple remote controlled items in my livingroom...

Just restart the 3d vision setup.

I will try to adjust the depth, Thanks much. I don't use an emitter, the emitter is built in to my laptop by the webcam at the top of the display I think. Also I don't have 3d vision setup, it's not on my computer anywhere I've checked over and over... Not sure why, I've tried to download it as well and no dice I can't find it. Anyhow I'll adjust the depth and convergence, thanks again to all of you who are helping. It is very much appreciated!

Interesting, I was always torn about which selection to make, but honestly, I chose the one you say not to, and I haven't seen this flickering problem you describe.
