I have a GTX 590 and I can tell you that the framerates are substantial OVERALL! They are just worst indoors. So no, it's not your 570.

Is there an official forum on the Witcher site? If so, are we making a noise there too? I plan on getting this game but not whilst it is like this.

I guess I'm just really unlucky or my GTX 570 is way underpowered for the job. But, for those who are experiencing decent frame rates out doors - can you please try the following?

Using 275.33 drivers:
1. disable the 3D vision driver from the control panel (NOT the hide effects check box)
2. Start the game, load a save game somewhere outdoors. Note the frame rate.
3. exit the game
4. Enable 3D vision in the control panel, and do not check "hide effects on start-up.
5. Start the game in full 3D vision mode
6. Load the same save game from step 2, and note the frame rate.

When I do this, I get a SUBSTANTIAL differential in frame rate. It should be a 50% hit in 3D mode, give or take.
I am wondering if those that are getting playable frame rates outside just have super powerful rigs, and don't notice that they are still getting an 75% reduction in frame rate.

Anyone willing to give it a go?

dude, that's what these thirty pages are about! Everyone is getting terrible performance with 3D enabled whether it's being used or not!

at least if he told us that, that his working on it, we wouldn't be here flaming him

Why? You know EXACTLY what he will say. "We are working with CDPR on this issue." Maybe he'll toss in a quick "we apologize for the inconvenience."

I don't get why you guys are still all over andrew and NVidia... I'm not saying they're saints (certainly not) but in this particular case, they did all they could; they issued a patch that made it so you didn't have to uninstall the 3dvision driver to play without sh1tty performance. (which wasn't nvidia's fault to begin with, the game is coded incorrectly. Other games don't do this, only this one)

Anything else is beyond their control and up to the game makers themselves - their render code has a mistake in it that's called each and every frame, hence the terrible performance on 3dvision systems.

Well we are pretty much at the mercy of the developers, who don't have an official forum for over a month since the old one went down, and Nvidia, who have no obligation to post here since it's a user to user forum here. There have been times when Andrew has gone long stretches without any activity here so waiting for an answer from him might be pointless too.

Either way, I think it is more on side of the developers to fix the indoor performance bug than Nvidia. Overall game performance in general is probably a mix of the two.

Wow, this really really sucks. Now I'm replaying The Witcher 1 in 3D while waiting for 3D to work properly on my game. Next setup I'm going AMD with the new, ridiculously sexy Samsung monitor: http://www.ncixus.com/products/61719/LS27A950DS%2FZA/Samsung/

Anyway, I have a feeling that my 2 GTX 570's limited amount of VRAM isn't going to cut it soon. After all, 1Gb cards have been around for nearly 3 years...

I doubt going with AMD is going to improve the performance for this game and it may not even work as well in 3D. Despite the issues, 3D Vision is still the best 3D solution for PC gaming IMHO.

3 years doesn't matter. You've got no worries at all until the next generation of XBox and/or PS3 come out. Once that happens, you might want to wake up and see what the market is doing.

I noticed something odd with this game. It's as if the positioning of the light source used to process shadows on buildings differs for the left and right eye? Anyone else notice this? In this game, or another? And can it be fixed?

It's just like in real life. Walk outside and you may have light shining in one eye, but a tree branch blocks it from your left eye.

I got my ASUS 120hz monitor that I intended to use with 3D Vision while I still had my HD5850, and hooked up with dual-link-dvi the 120hz worked fine (on the games that supported setting the resolution and the Windows Desktop)
