So, are you happy with the upgrade? Seems like you got 50% difference in deus ex at least, you tried the witcher yet?
I'm happy for now, judging by a few games. The Deus Ex MD fps difference is because of clock speed + better IPC + hyper threading. I would not get that many fps without hyper threading, I think (hey, I guess I can check someday).
I don't have The Witcher 3 installed anymore. I'll use the GOTY edition, which I still have to download from GOG, and try some of my Novigrad save files (and Beauclair too).
I also have to test Dragon's Dogma thoroughly.
In PCSX2, I got 99.19fps in the CPU benchmark with the 4670K at 4.1GHz. With the 7700K at 5GHz, I got 133-135fps.

Yeah, this is a real problem for people who want stable systems, stable work environments. I've done a bit of actual IT work in the past, and for things like servers, or production environments, it's considered bad form to change any software on the system.
For an example, think of something like eBay or Amazon. The last thing you want is random changes to your production environment, that can possibly break your pages or your service.
That is exactly what Microsoft is doing with Win10. They've taken a hard-line stance that they get to update at anytime they like, and the end-users have to suck it up.
For businesses, there is a slower rollout path, they can defer changes until they are tested. However, that work model is still completely different from any systems I've managed in the past, where literally no changes, including security updates, are allowed to be applied. Any non-internet facing system is not considered to be at risk, and so random Microsoft changes are actually the biggest risk of failure.
This is the problem I'm not interested in putting up with, for Win10. On a smaller scale, I just don't care about Microsoft and Windows, and their force-fed updates tend to break our fixes, requiring me to spend time repairing something that didn't need to be repaired. This was most notable with the 'anniversary update'.
This is not yet a done deal. Microsoft is turning the screws, but they were unable to keep this in place for Skylake after a huge business level outcry. I suspect they will run into the same problem with KabyLake, and be forced to recant.
Businesses are not at all interested in the OS as SAAS. That's a dumb-ass model for people trying to get work done, because they also could care less about UI reskinning and other stupid stuff Microsoft is pushing with Win10. It needs to be stable, and it needs to work. Nothing else matters.

Probably. But with my 3D Vision mod for PCSX2, it enters a (forced) exclusive fullscreen state (then you'd have some vsync input lag, if you force vsync in the drivers like I do). But it doesn't work on Windows 10 :(.

@bo3b, you are right of course mate. Although, most of us don't do that kind of intensive development where we need everything to be controlled and constant. From what I can tell in Win10, nothing has noticeably changed, even if the updates are out of my control - even if I would consider myself a power user.
Have you given thought to trying out Windows 10 dual boot? You might find that the automatic changing isn't as bad. Although, I don't software develop so wouldn't really know what resources change that you guys rely on :)

I have just tried The Witcher 3. It looks like it uses the 7700K very well. Remember that demanding place in Novigrad that I sometimes talk about (40-45fps in 3D with the 4670K)? Now I get always more than 70fps in 3D, and that's when I'm running. If I stay still, it's over 80fps all the time. In less demanding areas of the city, always over 85fps (sometimes >95fps and up to full GPU usage at 720p).
In 2D, the lowest I have seen was something like 114fps for a very brief moment (where I get those 70fps), while running in that demanding part of Novigrad. Normal numbers were 130-140fps.
In all cases, zero drops below 60fps in 3D with vsync enabled. The 4c/4t era is gone (if the 7700K had 6c/12t, I bet I would get even higher fps).
Final Fantasy XIII-2 wasn't so lucky. It mostly uses one or two cores, and I got about a 25% increase (I didn't compare directly). More or less, where it was 40fps before now it's 50fps, and where it was 50fps now it's 60fps. Better, but not perfect.

So this is new guys.... This just started today; it doesn't happen every time I boot. It seems to be doing it half the time... Is this my videocard going out? I havent had issues when actually in windows. Also, I have this pcie device that for the life of me cant figure out. Ive installed all of the drivers from the msi website and updated windows several time and it cant locate drivers for this unknown device. I only have my graphics card plugged in.

I had something similar. Let me guess - you can't boot into safe mode either.
Did you update the bios and not reset defaults?
Clear the bios and set all settings again manually, not loading from profile.
That fixed it for me at least.
Most likely the Intel Management Engine Interface. (man, what is it with Intel and Microsoft, with the impossibly generic names?)
Go to http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/detect.html?iid=dc_iduu
And download that update utility, which will likely find it.
Alternate sure result:
Go to Device Manager, click Properties, then from the dropdown, select hardware ids. Find the one next to the DEV and go to www.pcidatabase.com , type it into the Device box and click search.
I also agree with RageDemon, this is most likely bios settings. I don't think the missing item has anything to do with that corruption.
You might also do a DDU reinstall of video driver. Especially if you are running Win10- it will change video drivers on you, silently.
