Anyone own the Acer HN274H yet? (27 inch 1080p 3D Vision monitor w/built in emitter/speakers)
1 / 2
How is the crosstalk/ghosting?
Ordered most of my new setup at Newegg over the past couple days (couldn't order all at once because my bank account has a $1200 debit limit per day): http://secure.newegg.com/WishList/PublicWishDetail.aspx?WishListNumber=20172287
Can't order the monitor till tomorrow though since Saturday's debit limit doesn't get reset until Monday at 9am (only resets each morning the bank opens).
I'm really really looking forward to it since it's the first 1080p monitor over 24" to support the full 120 Hz 3D Vision without being restricted to 3DTV Play (thought it has that option too), but can anyone who has bought it tell me about the crosstalk/ghosting?
Maybe someone who also owned a 2233rz can tell me how they compare?

I have the 2233rz. I got the acer. I would say, its got less ghosting and maybe the bigger advantage is, you can adjust the contrast while in 3d mode and it stores that seperately from 2d and you dial down the contrast a bit until there is almost no ghosting. Its still there for sure. The biggest improvement over the 2233rz is that the color ghosting seems to not be an issue. I know the 2233rz had issues with bright areas where you would get some rainbow type of color shifting. I havent seen that at all. The clarity and sharpness looks very good. There is plenty of resolution there and things are sharp. Its bright as all hell. In 2d, I have the brightness set to zero. I also calibrated the display with a colorvision spyder 3 pro and it must be the led backlight, but after you get the brightness/contrast and rgb set right, there is barely a curve the the final color profile. A friend wants a 27 inch 3d displays, and its possible that something by samsung, asus, or LG may come out and be better in some way. I am happy with it, its certainly better than the 2233rz in most ways. Its not a massive night and day difference. The led backlight is probably the biggest thing that makes it different.

Well color me even more excited then. Being able to change contrast in 3D (unlike the 2233rz where brightness/contrast are both locked) sounds wonderful. I was also getting tired of the 22" size and 1680x1050 resolution so upping that to 1080p and adding 5 inches just seems like such a win.
Great to hear there's less of a ghosting/crosstalk problem too. That was my other gripe about the 2233rz (aside from the locked contrast). Also good to hear it's brighter. I always figured all 3D monitors had to be darker than usual to alleviate the ghosting/crosstalk.....glad this one's breaking the norm.
I read the 3D Vision blog review a while back but I much prefer feedback from everyday users on a board. It was a good review, though.

It is the commitment to support each other in realizing the shared vision that gives the vision power. Furthermore, it supplies the guiding force that enables organizations to navigate difficult times and to keep the learning process on course.

I came in a few days ago and so far I've been LOVING it. I can't read fluent french and I'm wondering what that french review had to say about it being a bad gaming monitor, because so far it's been every bit as good as the 2233rz except higher res and larger. This thing is a beast and the larger size really does wonders for increasing immersion in the already-immersive 3D mode. It freaking swallows me.
Even without playing in 3D, it's just gorgeous. So worth the price. The built-in emitter which auto-activates is wonderful, too. Only downside is there's no dongle to adjust separation/depth quickly. But at least we can use keyboard shortcuts for that.
It's a shame ASUS is taking so long with their 27" 3D monitor....Acer is scooping up all the prospective customers. I would have probably bought the ASUS if it was similar priced and actually available because my 24" ASUS 2D monitor treated me so well. Oh well.......GO ACER!

I have had this monitor for about two weeks and it's mostly been great. It's a very bright monitor, which is benefical for 3d. Out of the box the brightness washes out the color a bit, but once adjusted either through the windows or Nvidia color calibration, it can produce some great colors. The 3d works exceptionally well. I read all this talk about ghosting on other monitors, but I have not seen it here. The 3d was so easy to use due to the built in emitter. All I had to do was put on the glasses and start a 3d game, that's it. So what's not to like, nothing is perfect. The OSD controls are very limited and like most monitors a pain to use. I made a quick "user setting" and then did the rest through the Nvidia control panel. In 3d it automatically changes the setting to 100 brightness 40 contrast regardless of your settings, and then reverts back to your osd profile when done. Design and contruction are pretty basic, no frills. The one nagging issue is that occastionally the monitor will not revert back to my preset Nvidia color settings when exiting a 3d game. The settings are still there so easy to just click the button and it's back, but still annoying. It's not a glossy screen, so the blacks are not as black as I would like having come from a glossy screen. It can do some great colors, but black levels are just ok. Overall have been pleased with monitor. I sill might try out Samsung's 27" (SA950) when it comes out at it apears to be a better overall monitor, but that uses Tridef 3d instead of 3d vision, so a bit leary of that.

I'v had my HN274H for a month now. I am running it with a EVGA GTX470 using the supplied dual dvi cable. The monitor exceeds all my expectations. I read the 3dvision-blog.com review of the monitor before I purchased it. If it has any ghosting I can't see it. I play World of Warcraft. It is a dream in 3D. All the characters are like animated statues. I ended up using the directX 9 setup over the directX 11 setup because it has adjustments that let you optimize the 3d. The directX 11 has only one flavor.
The monitor defaults to ACM off so you have to turn it on.
I replaced a Westinghouse 1920 x 1200 26 inch monitor. It was a nice monitor but there is no comparison to this HN274H.
The 274 is not just a fantastic 3D monitor, it is the best 1080P 2D monitor I have ever seen. I watch a lot of Blue Ray movies. Its like watching the movie for the first time.
New Egg originally said they were getting more of these monitors May 31 but they have now listed it as inactive. I hope for the rest of you they get them back in stock. I paid $699.95 for this monitor and it was worth every penny.

Bas response time (14 to 16ms) like a TN 5ms and crosstalk
I'll wait before buying a 27" and I hope another one, better, will be released shortly
