1 / 2
Hi,
I have installed 1.29 CD driver. All was working fine with CD 1.27.
I have clean old driver (uninstalling + driver sweeper) beforce installing 1.29.

When running 3D wizard, I've got this popup window :
Geforce 3D Vision Setup Wizard Error
Error in Stereo NvAPI,
NvAPI_Stereo_IsActivated() return error.

I've tried uninstalling reinstalling. Same thing.

Anybody got this issues ?

Had this problem too, until I set my displays at their native resolution. If you have more than one, make sure they are all set at their native. For me that was 1920x1080.

I have 2 screens sometimes connected, my 3D lcd and my TV. I have tried various settings and connections, but I still have the same issue.

Did you get a fix?

Fixed, I've changed my refresh rate on windows desktop to 120hz.
It's now working.

Another new bug !

Have the same problem - all was working fine with CD 1.27, but with 1.29 (also with beta 257.xx) green button on IR transmitter doesn't work at all.

When try to run 3D wizzard from panel:

Geforce 3D Vision Setup Wizard Error
Error in Stereo NvAPI,
NvAPI_Stereo_IsActivated() return error

System - see below, OS - Win 7 X64 Ultimate.

Now one of 'solution' doesn't work (i already have native resolution, 120 Hz on primary display).

Total reinstall of ALL nvidia drivers (including safe mode, driver sweeper, etc...) - 3D vision in 257 doesn't work!!!

Green button ignores pressing at all. Driver installed without any error.

Even found "solution":
leave 3d plugged in after failed wizard run.
uninstall device in Device Manager and tell it to delete driver (tick box)
Uninstall program for 3d leaving normal nv display driver
unplug and replug in the 3d (still AV off here btw) - you should get "a device failed to install error".
Now run the 3d software as an admin, leaving 3d unit connected.
Then I did the wizard and it worked!
doesn't help!!! /verymad.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':verymad:' /> /verymad.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':verymad:' />

CD ver. 1.25 works (only f@cking flickering of right glass is present).

All i see now - NVIDIA sales the BETA product with HUGE bugs!!!

Ran in to this in two different situations, both with cd 1.27 and cd 1.29. It wasn't the software.

Situation 1/ Installing the cdv1.27 with a 260 and 1-2233rz attached via dvi, HOWEVER, it was not a dual link dvi cable. Make sure you use the right cable. Once I got the right dual link dvi cable attached, it installed fine.

Situation 2/ Installing cdv1.29 to 2-480's, it seems that it's best to have only 1-120hz Nvidia approved device attached to the vid cards. After I installed with only 1 monitor attached, plugged the other 2 back in and everything works fine.

--on installing cd v.1.29 on 2-480's, my sli option disappeared after reboot. Found on the evga forums, to roll back my Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller to an older driver. Then the sli option came back. Not recommending this as haven't done any further research, but it worked.

good luck.

How do you imagine, that somebody with 3D Vision set has the INCORRECT dual link DVI? It's simply impossible.

Don't understand "only 1-120hz Nvidia approved device attached to the vid cards" - do you have the second 120 Hz monitor? If so - this case is uncommon enough.

For example, my second monitor connected to third card (PhysX) and it's no matter - connected it ot not - result is: 3D Vision in 257 fail.

I'm having the same exact error. Now keep in mind my drivers and 3D vision worked PERFECTLY before the release of the 256 family drivers came out and now I run into this error no matter what I do and yes I am running my native resolution at 120 hz and it won't install; specifically the install runs VERY slow and leads me to believe the drivers are to blame.

I am having the same problem! "Error in Stereo NvAPI, NvAPI_Stereo_IsActivated() returned error."

OS: Windows 7 x64
Asus GTX 470
Driver 257.21
Projector: ViewSonic PJD 6531w

The IR emitter power button doesn't seem to do anything. Not sure how I'm supposed to tell the difference between "glowing green" and "bright green" but it doesn't seem very bright.

This appears to be unrelated to the other problem with the same projector.

After disconnecting my second monitor, I get a different error instead! The new one is

---------------------------
GeForce 3D Vision Setup Wizard Error
---------------------------
Error in Stereo Driver,
NvAPI_Stereo_IsActivated() returned 0 after stereo was enabled by default with Settings->setDefaultStartupMode(true).
---------------------------
OK

We got it to work. I think the secret is that you can't get it to work via the wizard in the usual way. Instead you have to choose "3D Vision Discover" on the first screen of the wizard. After that you have to use the NVIDIA Control Panel ("Set up stereoscopic 3D") to set the "Stereoscopic 3D display type" to your monitor/projector. If you are having trouble with the wizard, it might also help to disable and then unplug the second monitor if you have one.

Another thing you have to do is, before starting the game, use the "Screen Resolution" control panel to choose the 3D resolution you want (1280x720 in our case) and then click "Advanced settings", then the "Monitor" tab and finally change the Screen refresh rate from 60Hz to 120Hz.

We think that's how we got ours to work, YMMV and good luck.
