I've read conflicting information. Can someone on here who actually has an Acer H5360 confirm if it has the checkerboard option for DLP Link as well as the NVIDIA 3d Vision option?
Also, has anyone been able to use this projector to play Avatar in 3d on the PS3 or XBOX360? Do any of the other 3d projectors work for that game on the consoles (as opposed to PC). If so, what setting for 3d?
I am looking at either the Acer or the Optoma (I'd prefer a black projector to blend in with my ceiling....but the acer is very white but seems compatible)

Yes ACER H5360 supports both Nvidia 3D vision as well as DLP 3D.
I have not tried it with PS3 or XBOX 360 so I don't know if it will work.
I would strongly suggest to buy a Nvidia supported projector otherwise you might have lot of problems setting things up. I had Optoma HD66 before the acer h5360 was released and it was a good projector but not supported by nvidia 3D vision driver. Latest nvidia drivers don't detect it as a 3D display so you will have to use older drivers. I had to wear 3D glasses upside down in games. I ended up returning it and bought Acer H5360 which works well and I am happy with it. Some people managed to get Optoma HD66 working with latest nvidia's latest drivers and you can find information about it in one of this forum topics.

You know, I still haven't seen one person explain how DLP-Link could possibly work. I mean, I understand it uses colored flashes to sync the glasses. But this is only syncing the glasses to the refresh of the TV. How could it possibly sync up with the game? How can it know what is left and what is right? It doesn't make any sense.

That's why the H5360 has an eye switch option when it's in DLP mode. It will probably just skip the white flash for one frame, and thus will invert the glasses. As the refresh remains constant they should never desync, so it has to be done only once per play session maximum.

Well, theres one thing the projector knows that that is every frame will be received as 2 frames. whether it choses to have this as left/right or right/left is easily changable.
The projector would then have to average out the frames so that they fill out the full 120hz (60 for each eye). so if you ran a poor 10fps through it then the projector would play each frame, for each eye, 6 times. If you got 30fps, it would play each frame twice.
This may not be the case at all, but its one way it could work.

I own an Acer H5360 and I'm wondering if I'll be able to pull off using a Mitsubishi 3D adapter with an EDID device so that I can use it with my PS3 (stupid hdmi 1.4 standard thing) and xbox. Has anyone yet pulled off the whole adapter thing with a projector to play on the ps3? If so, how'd you manage?

[b]Sony's PS3 does not use HDMI 1.4, it uses HDMI 1.3a and it gets by by limiting the audio so as to have enough bandwidth for the 120 Hz 3D, 60 Hz per eye. So don't waste money on adapters which as of now I'm not even sure any are to market, I know Optima is developing one to be released soon. I own the Acer 5360 and have only limited success watching 3D, I mean I see 3D but it's not real pronounced on 3D video, movies. I remember when the PS3 got the update for 3D and I remember seeing that it was listed in the XMB menu. At that time I didn't have a 3D capable TV or projector. Now that I have the 3D Acer H5360, I no longer see the 3D setting in the PS3 XMB menu. I do know you need to make sure on the PS3 that in the video setting you must have it set to HDMI and then automatic. This 3D crap is so appealing yet so damn frustrating. One other thing, I wasn't having any 3D with my HDMI cords I had which were 1.3a so I went and bought a better brand and also it said it was 120/240 Hz 3D capable and once I used that, presto...I normally have everything running to ma A/V receiver Denon 4308CL but wasn't sure it would pass 3D through it, so I went direct from my PS3 to the projector. I just tried looping through the Denon tonight and it seems to be working with the same results as with the direct conx.... There are still lots of things I'm puzzled about, hope I get them all figured out because I've spent way to much money on all this stuff... [/b]

So don't waste money on adapters which as of now I'm not even sure any are to market, I know Optima is developing one to be released soon. I own the Acer 5360 and have only limited success watching 3D, I mean I see 3D but it's not real pronounced on 3D video, movies. I remember when the PS3 got the update for 3D and I remember seeing that it was listed in the XMB menu. At that time I didn't have a 3D capable TV or projector. Now that I have the 3D Acer H5360, I no longer see the 3D setting in the PS3 XMB menu. I do know you need to make sure on the PS3 that in the video setting you must have it set to HDMI and then automatic. This 3D crap is so appealing yet so damn frustrating. One other thing, I wasn't having any 3D with my HDMI cords I had which were 1.3a so I went and bought a better brand and also it said it was 120/240 Hz 3D capable and once I used that, presto...I normally have everything running to ma A/V receiver Denon 4308CL but wasn't sure it would pass 3D through it, so I went direct from my PS3 to the projector. I just tried looping through the Denon tonight and it seems to be working with the same results as with the direct conx.... There are still lots of things I'm puzzled about, hope I get them all figured out because I've spent way to much money on all this stuff... [/b]
Sony's PS3 does not use HDMI 1.4, it uses HDMI 1.3a and it gets by by limiting the audio so as to have enough bandwidth for the 120 Hz 3D, 60 Hz per eye.
