changing the resolution on this projector also changes the size of the projected image? is this always the case? will switching between 1080p and 720p in windows require relocating the projector itself to maintain the same projected image size?

Nope, there's something strange going on there. Either a setting on your projector, or (more likely I'd think) your PC.
I just put sticky notes on the corners of my screen (projected on a wall) at 1080p, then swapped to 720p. The size was identical.
no i was just watching videos of the benq w1070 and changing the resolution caused the image size to change... does setting the aspect ratio to "auto" maintain the same image size for all resolutions?

I got exactly the same Sleepwalker2.
Then I noticed in my screen resolution settings that the Hz jumped, when you switched resolution.
So if your screen doesnt fit, change hz setting from (119Hz to 60).
The hz offcourse can differ from mine.
Let me know if it works out for you.
