With Generic CRT mode you can still adjust depth/conference like with 3dtvplay?
Can you also use 3dtv play with this projector instead of generic CRT?
are the hole`s to hang a projector on a ceiling universal? ,got benq hanging on a vogel ceiling mount.
Generic CRT mode is just an output mode (it's about display types). All the inner workings of the 3D Vision driver are EXACTLY the same regardless of the output mode (3D Vision mode, 3DTV play mode, 3D Vision Discover mode aka "anaglyph", Optimized for 3D aka "interlaced mode for passive TVs", DLP 3D Checkerboard mode, etc...)
You'll get the exact same 3D separation/convergence settings (and the exact same advanced checkbox to tick in order to access convergence), access the exact same hacker community tools like 3D Migoto, Helix fixes, etc... access to the Nvidia 3D Vision player (a branded version of 3dtv.at 's stereoscopic player), etc...
Projector ceiling mounts are designed to try to be universal, however there are some oversize projectors that require adapters and/or extensions, depending on how far the holes are below the projector.
The one thing you absolutely need to be particularly careful about is the weight limit. Because you do not want to use a flimsy support for a 10+kg projector.
Remember : that projector will hang right over your head. If it falls, it will cost you more than just the hardware.

Good to know that all the 3d works, just need to get the emitter for it. (wasnt sure about that)
Gonna at least read up some more about the projector, just to be sure
What is do you think better for simracing game`s (1080P @120HZ) but 48MS , or on the benq 720p@ 60Hz but 24ms
Also that is a good one about the weight , really dind`t think about that

It's been clear that the DLP chips are capable of 120Hz+ internally for years, but it looks like at last, someone has stuck a newer HDMI port on one and finally enabled 120Hz input:

Viewsonic are releasing a new projector based on the old 1080p DLP chip too, hopefully other manufacturers will release models too and more of them will support 120HZ input, although clearly until someone gets one and tries, it still remains to be proven that they will work for 3d vision.
Agree it would be nice to see more with display port connectors as well, although I've heard the display port cables are even worse over long runs than HDMI.
In any case, I expect us to have to use an EDID override with this device, as it will almost certainly be picked up as 3dtvplay display natively.

48ms close to the upper limit for acceptable interactive content.
However, for racing games, definitely prefer resolution.
Drivers need to focus their gaze as far in the distance as possible in order to see the next incoming corner with very high accuracy. So you want as much precision as possible.
Then for input lag, between moving your arms around a steering wheel and a realistic car's inertia, 20ms extra is nothing to worry about.

Sounds very good but doesn't list 1080p@120hz as an input. I've asked the Optoma rep on AVSforums if it's compatible.
Unfortunately the optoma rep replied and said it doesn't accept 120hz input :-(
So it probably doesn't at 1080p, although the manual says it does at 720p so I think his info is incomplete.

https://www.amazon.com/Royole-Moon-Virtual-Mobile-Theater/dp/B01M8FE2U4
There a handful of these, similar to the Sony HMZ-T1/3. The Glyph is $209 at NewEgg, and could be considered to be the same as a 720p projector.
The Moon is a 1080p device however. And it looks like it runs at 60Hz and supports SBS video. It is possible that this would allow for 60hz 1080p gaming with a virtual TV. I could not easily find out what HDMI spec it supports, so it's not completely clear.
In any case, if anyone happens to use these for 3D Vision it would be interesting to hear results.
I have still a couple of questions
Is there still a problem with "light borders" and "high pitched sound" of the projector?
Is it also still possible to run Side by Side format, top/bottom for 3d movies?
UHD 40/50 still has a light border but I don't find it annoying or disturbing. The projector does not support SideBySide / T&B. It only supports frame sequential 3D format. For the sound I had to return the projector as buzzing became very loud. 1-2 Months ago I got a replacement which does not have this issue (100 hours used so far). So maybe I just got a bad sample in the first place.
Also the input lag is a bit higher then my benq1070 , 24ms for benq , 48ms for the optoma.
I do simracing (Iracing in 3d) and just a bit worried if input lag can be a difference.
Considering the time`s in qualy are about hunderst/thousends of seconds.
Being competative and being able to drive on a projector in 3D is one of the most amazing things :)
It`s almost the same as driving in my kart because finally you can focus on clipping points because you can see actually depth.
When running the projector with 120 Hz input lag is no issue. However when running it in 4k / HDR / 60Hz input lag is too high to play competitive games like Battlefield series where you need precision and a fast display response. However for racing games input lag should be still ok.

Is the Optoma then still a jump up in quality or is the difference not that big in quality in 3D?
Because the other option is instead of a projector a new videocard (still doubting)

For 3D gaming this projector is a huge jump in quality. As soon as you have played in 1080p@120hz you will never want to go back to 720p DSR.

Yes the naming is extremely confusing. I live in Europe and waited until UHD50 is sold there. But it never showed up on Amazon or price listing machines. Then I recognized that UHD 40 in Europe is the same as UHD 50 in USA lol.
BenQ W1700 / BenQ HT2550 also supports 1080p @ 120hz. It's very likely that 3D Vision works with this projector but it wasn't proven yet.

Hi jeanabdelnour,
Welcome here.
I'm probably not the best guy to answer this since I'm still new in the projector sector. Seems like all the knowledgeable guys are either busy playing Tomb Raider or drooling over the new 20 series cards somewhere... '-'
xD
From the little I know, this thread exist because this is where the first "affordable" user based 1080p projectors breached the darkness. So your options are still very limited and so far I know there are about 4 of em that could hand you some pixel candy. Only saw Pauldusler confirmed his PJ finally breaking the long awaited claustrophobic limitations. It has a lot to do with the chip and the bandwidth it provides. If you can afford it you could be a guinea pig and try one of the other PJs people here claimed to have all the necessary features to push 1080p. Then return it if you aren't happy.
Otherwise you would need to go the longer route and do a passive setup that requires 2 of almost any native 1080p PJ to achieve. It would be cheaper but more loops to get through. I'm still not sure if passive is superior to DLP though. (havent seen any comparisons) DLP is the leader in crosswalk in the consumer based market, as far as Im concerned. If you're used to 2k and 4k monitors you wouldn't want to go any lower than 1080p. I moved down from 1080p, with which I was very happy, to 720p. And it took a while to get used to. But I love games and their mechanics 10x more than their lustful coat. Which is why I still get a kick from games older than 10 years. (also why I cant catch up to the latest ////// 50 3d games fixed by our great shader hackers on my wishlist ^^) The list never gets smaller!
But before I digress, hopefully one of the more knowledgeable guys would see and help. But I could also assure you that your question is answered here in the forum somewhere. So grab some popcorn and your reading glasses ;)

For 3D gaming this projector is a huge jump in quality. As soon as you have played in 1080p@120hz you will never want to go back to 720p DSR.
Generic CRT is exactly the same as 3D Vision. So you can change 3D depth and convergence.
I used a universal ceiling mount to hang the projector (I used this one). Be careful to use the correct dowels for your ceiling!

This projector sounds promising. The only issue I see is that Acer always uses very loud and high-pitched note fans for their projectors. At least this is the experience I made with their projectors.
