Alan Wake - what are the 3D recommended settings?

If you have a sec pop on steam and I will send you like 10 screen shots i took. Everything is spot on. Lighting and shadows. Or can I post files from other servers here? You know i normally dont post on here. :) See if you can see these. I have the convergence set fairly high and depth at max.

You can attach images to your post after it's up, just click the on your post and select the files you want to upload. (jps) I really liked Alan Wake but it does still have some minor issues ... I even installed the latest drivers just to make sure. American Nightmare is really bad though. It was my understanding that they fixed some issues, not all, on Alan Wake and on American Nightmare everything that was wrong with Alan Wake originally is still wrong. Interestingly enough, there are shader folders in both game's directories, I tried copying and pasting AW's over to AWAN's but it just crashed ... oh well, it was worth a try. It'd be nice if Remedy, or other big devs for that matter, could release modding tools to help the community fix their games for them ... asking too much? :)

maybe it's SLI issue? I wouldn't call the game "perfect," though it's certainly playable, and quite good from time to time, here and there check some 3D Surround screenshots: http://photos.3dvisionlive.com/teardropmina/album/51b471455ec346f30d00019a/ light and shadow definitely have issues, but not that distracting for me. when you're in the woods or towns during the night...it's quite nice most of the time.

Does the game get better then? I gave up; way too many issues at the start. Is it worth the reinstall and persevering then?

Is it worth the reinstall and persevering then?

Lord, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.

I've bought it on sale some time earlier, couldn't really get pass the start due to lot of issues I was experiencing in 3d :/ just launched it to see if they get any better but without much luck. http://photos.3dvisionlive.com/tehace/album/51b4aca75ec346744a000187/ if I tune the settings down it's getting a bit better, with everything maxed out its a mess in my case, what are your settings?

Yea. Is people who have it working running at maxed/what? There is a huge disparity between feedback.

I think the overall 3D effect is decent enough (see my screenshots above, maybe too much issues for some of you~).

I got this game on Steam for $5 in one of the regular sales. I have a reasonable tolerance for imperfection, but found this game was below my threshold unless I increased convergence and toyified a bit, which is the opposite of how I like to play. I also think I had to reduce the depth significantly. That being said, it was still very nice from a 3D effect perspective, with everything at max settings, but I guess I could not get into it to progress to later parts of the game. I'll keep it on my list.

On Steam now for $3. Seems like the consensus is that the game play is too tedious. Looking at Xarrdroids' shots though, the 3D is spot on as he says. The light cone from the flashlight is working, and the moon and sky is at the right depth.

If you like your stories mysterious and unpredictable you can do a lot worse that play Alan Wake IMO which has a pretty intricate plot. I need to play this in 3D Vision soon...

I didn't find it tedious at all, I enjoyed it quite a lot. I don't know if it was the difficulty setting I was on or not but I found it quite challenging at times, very frantic but also rewarding. There was more to the combat than the average game. Having to purge the darkness with the light sources and then finish them off with the gun ... or sometimes having all you can do to just evade their attacks and make it to a safe lit spot or generator ... that needs to be started. My only issue with the game was all the nods to Stephen King, nothing against him but I felt like the game's story didn't need the constant name dropping.

If you grab a helix dll and drop it it in, it will fix light clipping. I already tried it on alan wake and can confirm. Its kind of a setting thats allowed by default on this version on file. https://s3.amazonaws.com/HelixMods/*Mainfiles/Releasev2.zip

OK, you talked me into it. $3 isn't exactly going to break the bank, it's never going to be cheaper than this, and it sounds like a lot of people really enjoyed it. The only real problem is that I have a game hoarding problem and need an intervention.
