Happy thoughts about my 3d vision What my experience is like
So after reading several less than flattering posts regarding various issues (looks at nvidia and winks) I have decided that today I would write about my positive experiences with Nvidia’s 3d bundle (I will call it “nvidias bundle†-Samsung 2233&glasses- because it was marketed that way at the point of sale and in advertisements).
Firstly, I had not heard of this new technology until a few weeks prior to my purchase of the bundle. Strange I know, something this cool not marketed mainstream IMO. I naturally went to the nivida site for more info and seen the dude with the cool specs. After reading the info and visiting the forum I decided it wanted it.
I qualified the purchase as I was in the market for a new monitor anyways (had one of the first model flat screens available back in the day-Samsung 760v with 12ms response time lol) so the new Samsung 2233 was an easy decision. The glasses were a little harder to quality because of the price to buy but they are needed to complete the system and now that I have them I want more pair’s lol. I also had a launch bfg 8800 gts 640 mb which I LOVED and never caused me one single problem ever but did not pass the test. I changed that up to a bfg 250 oc for 130$ (sold of my 8800 for 150$- made 30 bones ïŠ).
I had a few minor issues and was forced to call for help…………anyways all worked well after an hour or so. I was blown away by the nivida test in the control panel. Right then I knew that this was something very very cool and revolutionary for today’s games. Being a big gamer I was scrambling to load ALL my games and try every one of them out. As of now I have tried AoE, tomb raiders, bioshock, cod mw2, lost, wolfenstein, spore, crisis, ghost recon, sims,………..hl, hl ep 1 and 2, portal, tf2, bf heros…..I know there are more but you get the point. I have not had one that was unplayable, at worse there were some that were less good. The video portion of 3d is lacking….very lacking. There is almost no real life 3d (not animated) that serves any real purpose other than a few minor minutes of 3d. I know it will come and I will wait. Bleeding edge is always that way (remember being ready for dx10 but having to wait for the dx10 games to come to market-lost planet). There has not been one person I have shown this to that has not been completely blown away. Most of the time they spend on my system is spent yelling “can’t repeat here†and “still cant repeat†or “holy cant say hereâ€. Amazed as they are im even more amazed its mine and in my house. Easily the coolest computer related toy I have ever owned. I have not had any buyer’s remorse over this purchase. I can say my favourite part is playing games that are new to me. Being surprised in 3d is way better than 2d. This is an amazing product, very well built, well thought out and is a pleasure to own. I wonder if there is anyway to get the wife to like it as much as me……………..

Hey man, thanks for that, thats good to hear! I tend to refresh the 'View New Posts' page a fair bit, and have seen a fair few posts about people having 3d issues, so its good to see someone that, once sorted, really enjoys the experience! I had thought about getting the bundle, however like you say it is rather expensive, around £330 here, so I might have to wait a bit.
Im sure this is explained somewhere, or perhaps i've even read it before but cant remember, but what exactly is it like? I know some TV shows (and some vids on the web) that are going 3D are using the red/blue double image type thing (yeah, no clue on what its actually called :P), so is it like that, where various images come out the screen at you, or is it more like you feel you can reach your arm into your monitor? Like your screen is a box you can go into kind of 3d. It's probably hard to describe, but I dont know anyone who has one, and around here we dont really have hardcore enthusiast PC stores, so I doubt anywhere would have one being demonstrated anywhere.
Thanks for your input all the same though, good stuff!
but what exactly is it like?
It's about like the Matrix, you can't be told what it is, you get to see it by yourself ;) No, seriously, if you're thinking about investing into an S3D system ($!) make yourself a favor and go see an IMAX 3D movie to see what it's like. Any IMAX movie theater near where you live displaying 3D (with glasses) movies? even if you have 2 hours of car to get there, it's worth it to get a taste of the future :P
Btw, don't get fooled by all the negativity you see here. I, for one, am blown away each time I start a game in S3D (3D with goggles, Stereoscopic 3D) and I never post anything here to share how insanely cool this experience is for me. Yet, when I start a game and it's being more than 24 hours than I didn't played, I'm always surprise to find myself thinking "wait.. O.M.G. ... WHAT? was it that awesome the last time??! THAT'S INSANE" .. it's like it's always the first time I try it .. I once thought I would get used to it, but I'm not.. it's like too awesome to get used to it. for me anyway :)
One of my gamer friend came to my house to try the 3D Vision and was yelling about how crazy it was the whole time.. YET, just before he leaved he told me it was nice, but wouldn't put that kind of money on it, EVEN IF HE WERE A MILLIONAIRE! I never saw my long time friend --THAT-- jealous (...he just can't afford it $) since I know him. How envious does a 30 years old man need to bullcrap that way? THIS is how awesome this thing is.
EDIT: Don't get this wrong, S3D/3D Vision isn't perfect and some of the glitches could frustrate you (ie: Ghosting, game glitches in S3D, wrong aiming, far deepness(ie: buildings) vs near deepness(ie: guns in FPS) etc). But those imperfections are most of the time insignificant because of how cool the experience is. It's like having your preferred p*rn star every time you want her but having to deal with some little imperfections on her boob job... exactly, I know.. me too. :)

Yep, this negativity is only to help nvidia to improve the system, because S3D is the future and there is tons of articles in the net to prove it. Even consoles (PS3) are going S3D next year.
Anyway, there is no way to compare games in 2D with real 3D experience, 3D is the way we see the world. More than 30 friends came to my house in the last months to see 3D Vision in action, and right now I'm kinda expert to config depth + convergence for the taste of each one so they have the best first time experience possible, and it works, every single one loved the system.

Xbox 360 is making it with Avar=tar which is releasing this year I believe, only HDMI xboxes though.

Just my 2 Cents. I just played the Avatar PC demo in 3D and OMFG!
GTR is good, Batman is great but this is frikken AWESOME! If this is they way 3DVision is going, I'm definately not sorry to be an early adopter.

In my opinion this is the greatest thing in technology I've seen since the internet back in 96. This stuff is the real deal, I'm so glad I bought this, I can't imagine someone that regrets buying this amazing piece of tech.
I don't understand people buying new ATi cards such as 5870 which are the fastest cards to play 2D. It doesn't make sense, it's like having a Ferrari and driving at 35 miles per hour, lol................
3D is the future and we are lucky to be early adopters....

Watercool any gpu cheap, AKA- "The Mod"

GTR is good, Batman is great but this is frikken AWESOME! If this is they way 3DVision is going, I'm definately not sorry to be an early adopter.
Do yourself a favour & check it out.

I don't understand people buying new ATi cards such as 5870 which are the fastest cards to play 2D. It doesn't make sense, it's like having a Ferrari and driving at 35 miles per hour, lol................
3D is the future and we are lucky to be early adopters....
