I have an Optoma HD33 3D projector and I've been trying to get to work with 3D Vision on my Asus G74SX-3DE laptop through HDMI 1.4a. The projector is able to display in 1080X1920 at 120Hz but when I go to the nVidia control panel I can only display at 60Hz. I also noticed that in the nVidia control panel it shows the connection as being over DVI even though I'm using an HDMI connection. I really want to start using the projector to display 3D media, so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

That projector will not activate, it's not on the requirement/support list yet.

U should check JVC DLA-X -seriers. Quite expensive thou, but good support and awesome quality on 2d + 3d.
If you look at the 3D Vision requirement page you'll see several Optoma projectors listed. http://www.nvidia.com/object/3d-vision-system-requirements.html As far as I know 2 requirements must be met, the display must accept a 120Hz signal and it must be able to work using Nvidias glasses. Thirdly, I believe a "certification" for the display in the forms of a licensing agreement from Nvidia must be obtained by the manufacturer. Optoma normally will have it listed on the product page if the projector is "Nvidia 3D Vision certified", I do not see it listed as such on the HD33 product page. You should call Optoma to inquire about it.
3DTV Play is installed along with the current Nvidia drivers. If you have the 3D Vision glasses and emitter it is free, but you must have your emmitter connected for it to activate. If you do not have the Nvidia emitter, you'll need to purchase 3DTV Play to enable it. 3DTV Play will not activate unless the TV and your graphics card are listed on the 3DTV Play system requirements page http://www.nvidia.co...quirements.html If your TV/Projector is not on the requirement/supported list you can submit it via http://nvidia.custhe...etail/a_id/2774 There's a PDF (user guide)at the bottom of the 3DTV Play requirement page for setting it up. If your TV/Projector and GPU is on the requirement page you'll see the 3DTV Play logo vividly displayed in the "set up stereoscopic 3D" tab of the Nvidia control panel. Then run and successfully complete the setup wizard and you are good to go. For more questions see the FAQ http://www.nvidia.co...-faq-in.html#q1 Nvidia 3DTV Play supports standard HDMI 1.4a 1080p24 and 720p50/60 stacked frame modes.
To be clear, buying 3DTV Play for the currently listed $39.99 enables you to activate 3DTV Play without the purchase of the Nvidia glasses and emitter which typically cost $150 and do not work with the majority of 3D HDTVs, but work well with 3D Vision supported monitors or projectors. 3DTV PLay allows you to use the TV manufacturers 3D glasses or 3rd party 3D glasses that are compatible with your TV/Projector.
The HD33 has a VESA 3D port and the Nvidia glasses and emitter come with a VESA 3D connector, whether or not they will work with other (non PC) sources connected via HDMI 1.4 I am unsure of.

The HD33 is just releasing, you may want to head over to the AV Science forumns for reviews from owners, that are beginning to trickle in. There are also some good threads on other projectors as well as for screens, glasses, etc.... http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1354360&page=42
