Here's what I did.
1. Run the 266.58.exe. Note where the .exe extracts the setup files to.
2. Go to Device Manager. Right click on your video card and click "Update Driver".
3. Now this will be different depending on your version of Windows, but basically you want to update Driver manually. Click "have disk" then browse to where the 266.58.exe extracted the files to.
Basically you should look for the folder "drivers", then whatever version of Windows you are using.
4. Click on the .ini and it should update your drivers.
5. Now reboot your computer and then run the 266.58.exe like normal. It should run and update everything else.
This is a pretty vague explanation. I'm not at my home computer and can't run through it to make sure my steps are correct. This is just off the top of my head. Let me know if you need more help, also include your version of Windows if you do.

Thanks for your explanation. I'm running W7, 64 bit. Will try tonight.

I know this is about DS2 but does playing DS at 28% depth with convergence fix the issues with DS? I can put up with the flickering textures its just the shadows in fog that does my head in

Lord, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.

Finally I got the new drivers installed. I first tried your method and could install the new display driver. According to NVIDIA system info I had 266.58 display driver installed. Still I could not get the 3D vision driver installed. I looked at programs and found that still the old 260.99 driver was installed. So I removed it manually and installed only the 266.58 driver via the custom install option of the 266.58 package. Now I really had the new display driver installed. Still no success with 3D vision driver install. I went to the NVIDA folder and found the exe for 3D vision. After clicking this manually the 3D vision driver 266.58 installed and I had back my 3D option in the NVCP.
Now back on topic. Updating to 266.58 solved indeed the problem of having the lower part of the screen much darker and I must admit Deadspace 2 looks really 3D ready. I just used the standard dept and convergence setting and it looks amazing (and very creepy). Even the animated main menu is already a nice showcase for 3D TV play.
Thanks again for your help. Now I have to deal with the next problem. I have installed and tried Maffia 2, The Witcher , Dragon Age, Avatar, Shift and Just Cause 2 and they all look awsome in 3D. How to find the time for playing them all? I'm really happy with my purchase of 3DTV play and will probably never ever play any game without. I have my 3DTV and PC-LCD screen hooked up in the same room and looking at the 2 pictures I love 3D. Particulary for Dragon Age the non 3D version looks really boring.

This game has been really hard for me to decide whether i want to play it in 3D or not. Its like, almost good enough to tolerate the shadowing and lighting issues, but then in some parts of the game it just seems to take away from the experience rather than add to it, at least for me. The lack of depth needed for this to be acceptable in 3D just makes it not worth it in the end sometimes. just imo
so for now i've been playing it in 2D mostly and enjoying the higher fps (wont have my 570 for another week). and im so glad they fixed the mouse aiming in this one. hitting those fast ostrich-like necromorphs with the 360 pad just wasnt happening, so i tried my mouse and i was like "wwow, it doesnt SUCK".
i'd like to think that there will be some sort of patch or fix to improve the 3D in this game, but I really, really doubt it. It seems like if the game isnt advertised as being 3D ready and all that before coming out, it never will be improved on. especially when its a cross-platform, EA sort of game.
its a pity too because this game would be so awesome with proper 3D support...

I agree with you, I tried playing DS2 with it's own profile deadspace2.exe and 28% depth and convergence poping out, but I wasn't able to play like this for more than an hour. It just felt like fake 3D cause it felt somehow flat, 28% is low depth. And the fog volume is there, very annoying, depending on the angle that Isaac stands that fog volume and ghosting is very noticeable. It kind ruins the 3D experience.
I'm now playing Dead Space 2 in 3D and I'm very happy so far. I'm in chapter 7 already. I have deadspace2.exe renamed as ofdr.exe and it really helps TONs. No fog volume and ghosting ta all, I'm playing at 60% depth and convergence where most of Isaac's body is poping ou the screen. It's amazing and very impressive 3D.
The only side effects using this ofdr.exe profile are the flickering issues with some shadows, just some, a few of them. But it's easy to get used to the flickering issue because this game is creepy and very dark and also the lights in the game are always blinking and that's on purpose to make it look even more scary, like if the spaceship lights are malfunctioning. So, with this scary enviroment, the flickering issues gets mixed up with the blinking lights of the game, so it feels natural, it's easier to get used to. Play like this for an hour and it won't bother you anymore, I assure you that. Playing Dead Space 2 with 50% depth or beyond, no ghosting, no fog volume, is just amazing and makes your gameplay very immersive and scary like hell. Try it. I'm loving playing this game in 3D using Operation Flashpoint Dragon Rising profile.
Big thanks for the guy that came up with the idea of renaming deadspace2.exe as ofdr.exe, what a fix... I'm gratefull to you...

I can sort of see where you're coming from francomg but I would rather play with lower depth so the shadow alignment and lighting are in line. Increasing the depth whatever you have the exe named as spreads the left and right images too far apart. I wonder how many people would be complaining about playing with 20-25% depth if what you got at that depth showed as 100%?

Yes, I understand what you're saying. But even if you low the depth at 25 or 20%, there's still lots of fog volume and duplicate shadows. I've tried and it's very noticeable. Using ofdr.exe fix eliminates this issue completely, but there's some nasty flickering with some shadows, but in my opinion it's better than fog volume.
Hopefully Nvidia will come up with a profile for DS2 in the next driver release. I just hope it doesn't take forverer like it happened with Medal of Honor that waited almost 2 months for a 3D profile. At least DS2 is playable without profile, Medal of Honor wasn't at all.

I'll have to give this a try. I actually played a chapter or 2 in 3D last night and it was pretty acceptable. There wasnt a lot of fog and stuff in the levels (chapter 10 on the ishamura) and a couple times i appreciated the popout. I'll give this exe renaming a go tonight when i play some more (gotta wait til after dark!).
on a side note, holy hell this game is longer and more epic than i thought it would be. i love how there are a lot more necros to fight in this one, but i'm disappointed in how few suits i've encounted. I'm on chapter 11 and i've only upgraded twice. one was the security suit and then the one i'm using now is the vintage suit. from what the devs were saying before the game came out, i was expecting a new suit just about every chapter. I have a ton of money saved up too because i dont usually spend it on anything so i have enough for suits when i unloack them... think i have 80k right now. I only use the plasma cutter, pulse rifle, and line gun for weaps. got the cutter upgraded almost completely and its so awesome i dont even care about other guns.

Today I've tried Dead Space 2 for the first time with 3DTV Play and I loved, but I wasn't able to make DS2 work in 1920x1080 24hz, just 1280x720 60hz??? Has anyone that has 3DTV Play been able to make Dead Space 2 work in 3D at 1920x1080 24hz??? For some reason the game doesn't support 24hz mode, just 59, 60 and 75hz. Even when I choose 1920x1080 24hz in the Nvidia Control Panel and TV went into 3D mode, if I start DS2 the game will play at 1920x1080 60hz, so it will be displayed in 2D, cause 3D at that resolution only works in 24hz with 3DTV Play software. I have even tried to choose other resolutions and then come back to 1920x1080 60hz, but no matter what I do there's no way to activate 3D in this game at 1920x1080, at least I didn't figure out how. If you try to play DS2 in 3D at 1920x1080 the infamous red message will be displayed in the bottom of my TV: 1920x1080 60hz is not a HDMI 1.4 resolution......
I really wish I could play DS2 in 3D 1920x1080, cause it already looked awesome in 720p, but 1080p is the way to go in the big screen. I even think DS2 might be playable ayt 24fps, cause it's a slow game, not fast scene actions, so I would like to give it a try. The 3D quality in a big plasma screen is unbeatable, it overcomes my Alienware 23" by a long shot in 3D quality, colours and brightness.
Please, let me know if someone figures out how to enable 1920x1080 24hz for Dead Space 2????

Tried dead space 2 today, that shadow flickering when using the ofdr fix is indeed annoying! Just had a marathon session of Dead Space 1 this week (never tried it before). Played it from start to end with 3d-vision and it looked very nice. Ofdr fixed the fog-volumes annoyances in it, and keeping depth to ~25% made the shadows perfect (though I had to disable the fancy pants shadows in the visual options).
I envy those who can ignore the problems, but I'm just one of those people who finds themselves concentrating on minor imperfections. You can imagine my rage when the 30" Dell monitor I bought had 3 dead pixels, and was then told thats an acceptable number and does not qualify me for an exchange. RARRRGH!!!

How do you do the OFDR thing for the fog? I tried to do what someone mentioned a few pages earlier but the game still thinks its dead space. I use the steam version btw.

I envy those who can ignore the problems, but I'm just one of those people who finds themselves concentrating on minor imperfections. oh man, i would break something else inside then return it for an exchange. I cant stand dead pixels, my eyes aways go to them and i get upset.

What annoyed me the most was that I got it for good price off of ebay after verifying that the warranty would be valid and the device would be "new" and not refurbished. Took me about a week to notice the pixels, went back to ebay, and found the seller had more of the same monitors up for sale but had added the addendum "100% 0 Dead Pixels Guaranteed". So I basically had the last least desirable monitor offloaded on me, and the seller could not/would not understand why I was being so irate and so "bad mannered"

Particulary for Dragon Age the non 3D version looks really boring.

so for now i've been playing it in 2D mostly and enjoying the higher fps (wont have my 570 for another week). and im so glad they fixed the mouse aiming in this one. hitting those fast ostrich-like necromorphs with the 360 pad just wasnt happening, so i tried my mouse and i was like "wwow, it doesnt SUCK".
i'd like to think that there will be some sort of patch or fix to improve the 3D in this game, but I really, really doubt it.

You can imagine my rage when the 30" Dell monitor I bought had 3 dead pixels, and was then told thats an acceptable number and does not qualify me for an exchange. RARRRGH!!!

oh man, i would break something else inside then return it for an exchange. I cant stand dead pixels, my eyes aways go to them and i get upset.
Tried dead space 2 today, that shadow flickering when using the ofdr fix is indeed annoying! Just had a marathon session of Dead Space 1 this week (never tried it before). Played it from start to end with 3d-vision and it looked very nice.
