If anyone's interested in this game at all using the Aion profile makes the game quite playable (so far), either renaming the EXE and DATA folder to Aion (Aion.exe & Aion_Data respectively) or using NVIDIA Inspector. (It's part of the current $4 Groupees bundle http://groupees.com/capsule3)
The biggest issue, for me anyway, is the draw distance (besides the lack of controller support ... I wound up having to use JoyToKey). Even maxed out in the options there's a ton of 'popup' out in the open areas and no fog to cover it up. 3D-wise, it's the crosshair (2D) and lensflare, I'll add a link to the Pixel/Vertex Shader 'combo' for each, just in case someone wants to suggest anything.
Not a fix, just the 'Crosshair' and 'Lensflare' Source Shaders:

Edit:
A.R.E.S. from the bundle looks really good in 3D too. Reminds me of Megaman, a dual-stick side-scroller with 2D characters and 3D levels. (I did have to go into %USERPROFILE%\Documents\ARES\config.ini and change the resolution to match mine, and on the steam forums it looks like Ctrl+T is mapped to change suits in-game ... I'm using a controller, which I think it pressing both sticks, but that could be an issue)
