Final Fantasy XV demo is out

Found the FOV (cb0[27].z)!!! Now shadows are fixed in all situations :). Now I just have to play until I find more issues, like in the screenshots in the previous page. Edit: there are some compute shadows below buildings. I'm in the middle of fixing them. Let's see if I fix them tomorrow. Edit2: please post save files near broken effects (not shadows) if you want me to save some time.

I do not know if you've already corrected it, there's the circle of blue particles around the campfire that's out of the way. We see it a little on the 2nd photo. I will test this later :)

That's why I ask for save files :p. I don't know how much I have to play to reach that place. And you can't test yet because I haven't uploaded anything. If you wait around 7 hours, I'll release a WIP fix if you want the shadows fix.

here is a backup in a camp. In fact, there is everywhere and it is part of the beginning of the game :)

Thank you (can't wait to be home!). Just in case I'll play for 5-10 minutes before using that save. Just so everyone knows: - You probably need the latest drivers (was it 391.01?). I had crashes with the previous ones. - If you have a sound card and you don't get any audio, you have to enable "Windows Sonic" in the properties of your speakers/headset.

yes, (for the picture and the save, my graphic card wasn't up to date, i have the 390.77 for the moment) For this backup, I have 10 min real game. I'm really not far. Obviously, in this final fantasy, you should not neglect the tutorials for fighting:)

Runs fine on the last and not the latest driver for me.

WIP version with the shadows fix: https://s3.amazonaws.com/masterotaku/FFXV/FFXV_demo_WIP1.7z Also, F2 for HUD depth (the minimap gets double depth until I fix it) and F3 for HUD toggle. Remember the F4 one for DoF and F1 for convergence. I reached that blue fire, and it's different from the shadows shader. Also at night the flashlight makes some shadows that will need a different pattern (and that lighting itself needs a fix too), so they are still unfixed. Same shader for one of the pause menus where you see the characters. During daytime, I'd say the game is 90% fixed (in the first hour of the demo). This also fixes the moon and stars that were at wrong depth. There are some unused shaders in the ShaderFixes folder. Make sure you uninstall previous fixes every time I release something. The game has some harsh geometry culling at the sides of the screen, and alongside the skybox clipping, you may consider a good idea to just use the ctrl+F11 hotkey to cover the frustum with black bars.

It's in the shaderhackers library now, go for it.

WIP 2: https://s3.amazonaws.com/masterotaku/FFXV/FFXV_demo_WIP2.7z I've fixed water ripples (maybe it's a veeeery little bit inaccurate), and pushed ambient occlusion that was under cars to full depth (don't know how to fix yet. It appears if you enable ambient occlusion). The game also suffers from blocky lighting clipping in some indoors places. Annoying. I don't know how much else I'll be able to fix (it looks like I'd need a lot of time to experiment to maybe solve some of the remaining problems). Maybe this is the point where a more experimented fixer would be able to help. DJ-RK, if you read this, will you start working on the game when the full game is released? To sum up for other fixers, this is what is modified, and I'll explain some issues they may have: - Specular reflections pushed to full depth. Looks fine, but there are some specific situations that look like they need "surface depth" instead, like some small stores or streetlights. Search for shaders containing "v0.x-=stereo.x;". Note: one of these vertex shaders contains the environment shadows, which after that I pull back to proper depth in the pixel shader. Note 2: there are some very limited cases where I found reflections of this type that dodn't follow the VS pattern of the others, so I didn't touch them. - Environment shadows (not created by flashlights) are correct. In very specific conditions (car interior view when selecting where to go), it looks like they don't apply the FOV correction and remain at full depth. 31b8e6ea1dc48a86-vs_replace.txt and 1ad225d4804316d2-ps.txt. - Ambient occlusion below cars: partially done. It's at full depth now in the VS (it was at screen depth), but I didn't correct the position like I did for environment shadows yet. 46a0559ad70c8061-vs_replace.txt and f521b29f79a42726-ps.txt. - Some compute shadows below buildings: same as the previous point. 213491fe011af3fb-cs.txt. - Water ripples when walking on sea water. They look 99% OK, but the fix was done to the output position. Maybe there's a more accurate way but I didn't find it. fbe57df6dd65f8d0-vs.txt. - Skybox, moon and stars are at full depth, but there's left and right clipping in the skybox. The F5 hotkey zooms in to cover that, but it isn't a good solution. - Ice decals in the Shiva summon (benchmark) are now at full depth instead of screen depth. Needs a fix (b90b37ccd0ad15a7-ps.txt). There's a shader I remember touching, f46d0ae234f6b320-ps_replace.txt, that probably didnt need touching. There are also a bunch of untouched shaders or just with separation and convergence prepared to be used. I could have done the specular reflections fix in regex, but I preferred to have shaders with names for the time being.
DJ-RK, if you read this, will you start working on the game when the full game is released?
Yeah. I actually loaded the demo up myself the first day it was released, as I had the day off. Managed to get mostly everything fixed in the tutorial (except the flashlight), but didn't quite get past that, and this week since has been all sorts of "life happens" stuff that's kept me from really putting in much time since (forced overtime work shifts some days, 15 hour work days others, taking the gf for mammography appointment on my other day off... that sort of fun stuff :/) despite me wanting to work on this (and finish off the Kingdom Come fix) having already investing a decent chunk of time and effort. I took the regex route myself to better futureproof and make it likely for a day one release, and also include other QoL stuff life auto-depth for the HUD and such. Got some time this evening, so I'll see if I can consolidate our WIP's and hopefully get to look at any remaining issues.
