Tron Evolution ! How good is the Vision 3D ? S3D players report in
  1 / 2
Anyone play this yet? I wont get to it until mid week so if anyone can upload some s3d screen shots that would be appreciated.

I'm really excited about the movie coming out so naturally I'm interested about the game.

I have tried the ummm "big" demo if you know what i mean, as its releasing alongside a movie and Disney is involved its way too dangerous to buy them outright, so tried this version first just to see if its any good, and i have to admit i love it! it also worked flawlessly in 3D, lot of ghosting on my monitor due to the neons, but looks lovely on the beamer so i will def be buying it! (already deleted the other version). Its literally just like the previous first person Tron that came out a few years ago but in 3rd person with lots of parkour, and the disc combat is good fun as well, solid 60fps in 3D as well :) well done Disney, lol.

Now to find out when its available to buy in the UK as it apparently doesnt exist on PC, lol

If your still not sure try renting it first (if you can) if you like it then get it, cause the 3D is awesome.

Yep, I can confirm as well now, the 3D is good, even all the light effects render at the right depth. Will add some screen shots on the weekend.

Yeah while the game looks really good in 3d...(after convergence adjustment) I get a constant 5 fps in 2d or 3d. Completely unplayable. /wallbash.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':wallbash:' /> Somethings not right...

AMD quad core + GTX 285, driver cd 1.38. I should be running this game at at least 60fps in 2d. LOL so many games coming out that are horrible on pc.
Anyone else have horrid frames on this game? It's not at all graphically intensive, characters and environments are low poly. Lighting effects are blah. However the gameplay looks like it could be really fun... similar to Assasins Creed, only Tron style. It's a shame really. I can't play this game at all. /thumbsdown.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

edit: Seems to run ok on my wifes crapty pc. Athlon x2 4200 with a 9800gt. perfectly playable and smooth. LOL wtf. /blink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

The same to me /verymad.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':verymad:' /> Intel Quad Q9550 @ 2.83GHz, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260, drivers 260.99. I have no performance problems with other unreal enginge games - only with Tron. Even when disabling S3D, reducing resolution and turning off every effetcs (reflection, shadows,...) the same low fps. Must be a basic problem...

Update: If I edit the file GridEngine.ini in the folder ..\Users\[name]\Documents\Disney Interactive Studios\Tron Evolution\UnrealEngine3\GridGame\Config and set
AllowD3D10=True
then the problem with stuttering disappears completely and I get very good framerates. BUT all the HUD displays and menues are not visible any more /pinch.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':pinch:' /> So I have to look at the walkthroughs on Youtube and memorize which controller buttons I have to press in order to get through the tutorial /blink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> There are some parts (e.g. after the first "boss fight") when I could use the original settings (AllowD3D10=False) without any problems with the framerate.
Tried to update DirectX but is was allready actual.

Update 2:
After I have reached the second half of chapter 2 (first fight with a light tank) with AllowD3D10=True I could switch to AllowD3D10=False back again and had no problems with the framerate since then (now at the beginning of chapter 6) /smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Update 3:
Completed the game. During the first half of chapter 7 (until the lightbike-part) I had to switch back to AllowD3D10=True. But ca. 80% of the game I could play with HUD and without framerate problems.

it's not about full screen display. the game by default only supports up to 1680x1050 (16:10) and 1600x900(16:9) gaming...that's ridiculous for a 2010 PC game.

The game looks pretty good. we will have a new profile in our upcoming driver.

There are a few things to be aware of

Your desktop resolution needs to be in 16:9 or 16:10 mode for those modes to show up in the game

In-game you cannot select 1920x1080. However you can edit the INI file to add it since this is a UE3 engine

The in-game shadows have some issues, and dont work right in 3D.
