DSR with 3DTV Play
You can't. But nVidia support have told me it's something they are planning to fix in an upcoming driver release (they wouldn't confirm exactly when, or if it's going to be in the next release though)
That is so great to hear. 3dtv device is my main gaming device, so its been killing me not being able to get it working. Alien isolation especially needs it, so weak AA options. Guides in this thread helped me to get dsr working with my projectors though, benq w1070 and optoma hd67n. Custom resolution utility works wonders with them and 3d vision option stays after changes. Even going from 720p to 1080p cleans up the image so nicely.

sammy, I tried 1440p with Alien Isolation and downscale to 720p (With 3D disabled for obvious reasons) didnt help much for the jagginies i'm afraid

Ok, so on my W1070 w/ Sony TV EDID override I set the native resolution with CRU to 1280*720. On the control panel it states that 1280*720 is indeed the native resolution. Yet, when I enable DSR I still get only 1080p DSR resolutions. With gedosato it says that the x resolution is not supported in 3D. Sigh, I don't know why nvidia made it so hard to set the damn dsr thing. Maybe I should override my projector with a projector only capable a max resolution of 720p so then it has no other choice but to apply DSR resolutions to 720p? I don't care about 1080p right now, I just want to play some anti-aliased games.

Yah they posted that they were working on it back in October, no idea what the holdup is System Configurations Currently Supporting DSR as of Driver 344.65
While this driver version substantially expanded the availability of DSR, support for DSR on certain types of system configurations is still being worked on for future releases. The table below should clarify which configurations can currently use it. Sorry for the confusion. I've been speaking to NVGareth via PM. Here's what he's said.
Sorry for any miscommunication from support. I've looked into this, and it appears that there are technical limitations that mean that DSR will not be extended to work on displays running at non-native resolutions. Sorry about that.

Thanks for the response, but I find that hard to believe. It's actually already possible to do it by performing an EDID override and presenting 720p as the maximum resolution of the display, the only problem is that 3D is disabled with this method. If one guy can code up a tool to perform downsampling to non-native resolutions (GeDoSaTo), surely nVidia can extend their feature as well?

I can't speak to the technical differences in the ways that tool is implemented compared to our approach, but it wouldn't be the first time that a third-party hack has worked at least partially, but possibly had issues, compatibility problems, or other side effects that render that approach unsuitable for an officially supported tool.
DSR doesnt even work correctly for my native 720p displays. sony hmz-t1(3dtvplay) and optoma hd67n(120hz 3d vision ready). Both accept 1080p signal and nvidia control panel clearly states 720p is native resolution(so driver knows it too). Still dsr uses that non-native 1080p resolution to make higher ones so 3d is limited to 24hz again on them. Same as my 1080p native projector. So it seems dsr just takes the highest reported resolution without checking what the native one is. Basically dsr has been useless for me and my 3 3d vision displays, where it would have been most usefull. Great job. With 3dtvplay you cant even make custom resolutions like i can with my 120hz 720p 3d vision projector*, so literally stuck with 720p. Well if its a dx9 title, gedosato works fine, and some comes do have built in downsampling. *Wasnt even aware that i could make 1080p120hz->720p120hz downsampling resolution with it, but bo3b mentioned it in some thread which was a nice suprise. I think that makes really big difference IQ wise, especially if a game lacks good AA options.

Would it be possible to implement an option into driver to block or delete resolutions similar to the otion of adding custom resolutions, which means we will block 1080p framepacking and DSR would only recognize 720p framepacking. I mean, we can add, why not delete? I use an Benq 770st (720p) but i get only 1080p DSR resolutions, but 720p is reported as native resolution.

I did it. in work with 2 programms (cru, Analog Way Edid Editor) 1. load cru and export entry as *.bin file 2. load binfile into AW Edid Editor and delete every entry above 1280x720p on Standard Data and CEA Extension that it looks like in the first two pics. save Edid 3. load cru and import modified Edid and restart.
