NVIDIA Stereoscopic Video Player not maintaining aspect ratio
2 / 3
Something must be wrong on my end here, cuz even with the new 1.05CD drivers my 3D stereoscopic player is out of ratio. It appears to be a watered-down version of Stereoscopic player that can be purchased? Also, the options to fast forward/skip etc are disallowed. Irritating as I switch between full-screen and windowed mode to change settings. Seems to restart in fullscreen when I change back and I can't skip to other parts of a DVD movie even. However I'm able to in the other Stereoscopic player that seems set up almost exactly the same. Also difficult to find the right 3D mode on a lot of things it seems. The one that I'd have to purchase (for like $80 or so) automatically looks online to see if it can detect the right mode.
Also are all of the IMAX 3D movie dvds in interlaced 3d? This surprises me a lot and between the aspect ratio issue and interlaced. .they look like crap to me.
Still waiting on the solution for my "Game configuration" tab not working as well. :P

I think i know what's happening since you are using a DLP. With any DLP you have to be working in a mode that supports checkeboard pattern decode by the DLP - that's the weird pattern you are seeing.
Two things:

What resolution are you running at? Only run at 1024x768, 1280x1024 or 1360x768 resolutions to start with and let me know if that works.

Turn off the NVIDIA Resize the HDTV Desktop option for now. I understand that you may have the start bar cut off.

1) I am using 1920 x 1080, will try the smaller resolutions
2) No desktop resizeon but again I will check the smaller resoltutions
Yea it basically looks like it turns a 3D mode on but the wrong ones, the player never does the checkerboard output but I did manage to have the Vista Media Center 6 FT UI in 3D which looks great but wont work when you watch any video form Live TV, to divx ... =(
Please help me fix this issue as its the one thing I havent been able to fix since the launch of the product ...
And BTW the 1.05 driver still have a very weird aspect ratio... when in windowed mode looks normal though aspect wise

So I'm still hoping for a resolution on this issue.
What happens to me in any video I play in the player is that I can make the videos look fine in windowed mode by selecting 4:3 mode over Default or whatever. . .but even when choosing that, the aspect does not stick when changing to fullscreen. The video seems to stretch outward toward the left and right edge of my screen leaving everyone on the screen looking quite short and fat. I know the camera adds 10 lbs, but this is ridiculous. :P I'm hoping that this issue has been reproducible and will be resolved soon. It makes movies quite unwatchable.

It has been reproduced, but the question is will it be fixed? NO one has heard form nVidia lately, they are keeping us in the dark. a quick word from Andrew would be nice..

I'm at work so I haven't tried it yet, but it looks like the new driver release addresses this issue:
New Features:
WHQL Certified GeForce v182.08 graphics drivers
Adds support for GeForce GTS 250.
Adds support for Burnout Paradise Trial. Please visit the Burnout Paradise nZone.com website to download the trial version
Fixed issue with NVIDIA Stereoscopic 3D Video Player which caused the video to be compressed horizontally
Now, if the fixed the issue with lasersight control panel not working on Vista x64... *fingers crossed*

What's funny about this to me, is that everyone seems to be having issues with video being compressed horizontally. My issue is that the video is compressed veritically or something. It goes from left to right clear across my screen, but feels stretched out this way. I cannot make it look correct unless I'm in a window.

That is strange, most have the problem horizontally. What resolution do you run at, maybe it depends on that. I'm at 1680x1050.

FYI anyone interested, not sure if this has already been stated but the NVIDIA stereoscopic player is a watered-down version of Peter Wimmers Stereoscopic player (www.3dtv.at), the latest version of which (1.4.2) has just been released and a trial is available for download on his site (5 min playback limitation). In his latest release (which DOES work with 3dvision) this issue does NOT exist (at least, I can now play my DVD's with the correct full screen aspect ratio, no horizontal compression) - download it and give it a try, let me know your results - it works fine for me in the full stereoscopic player but not nvidias own cutdown version.
And btw, for anyone that may have missed it, it is critical you choose the right setting from File>aspect ratio menu - sometimes what it states you are going to get is incorrect, yet try them all until you find the one that works.

I think i'd mentioned it previously. However, if it's working properly in the official player then NVidia should have no problem fixing THEIR player correct?
NVidia, please put this high on your priority list. I'm sure most ppl buying the 3DVision are buying a few 3D DVDs to try out on it and currently the aspect ratio makes it all look like crap. Not very positive for the longevity of the product in an already uncertain economy.
Please? And, What happened to Andrew? Was gone for awhile and came back. . but haven't seen really any responses since then. I was very optimistic just in knowing that he was here and really listening/helping beforehand. Now that 3DVision's been released he seems to have dissapeared? Andrew???

I will DL the latest version and try it, but the limitation will suck.. I feel that the $600 I paid for this system should justify me having a player that works without having to purchase the working one from the actual creator of the player. I also would think the latest version of Nvidia's should be that same thing, but I'm sure they are delaying it figuring users would get fed up and buy their working one.. However, the problem I have seen so far is not a horizontal compression (3D DVD's) but rather a vertical compression. It's actually wider than it should be horizontally and shorter than it should be vertically. This is exactly opposite the problem with the short movies available for download from nvidia. I will try it and see what happens.

Please help me fix this issue as its the one thing I havent been able to fix since the launch of the product ...
And BTW the 1.05 driver still have a very weird aspect ratio... when in windowed mode looks normal though aspect wise
