Hi everyone...
I would like to purchase ASUS VG278H 3D LED TFT, but first i need to know something...
As far as i read on certain websites (one of them is www.asus.com), this monitor, CAN play 3D blu-ray movies, but it does not make clear whether I need an external Blu-ray 3D player, or I will be able to see these bluray's through NVIDIA's 3D Vision or other softwares such as PowerDVD Ultra on my PC.
Could someone please make that clear to me??? To help you more, I have to inform you that my computer has an Asus Blu-ray player (In specifications does not clarify if it is capalbe of playing blu-ray 3D movies), an Asus GTX-680-DC2T GPU, and of course, the monitor that I'm planning to buy(which it will be connected to the Computer via an HDMI 1.4 cable).
If you think, that i sould make some other connections to play Bluray 3D movies, w/o having any problems, please tell me to do so.
Thanks a lot! :)

If you're using a VG278H you need to use dual link DVI to get it to support 1080p 3D gaming, just so you know.
Don't know about your Bluray issue though.
Thnx Cookybiscuit for your reply....
I noticed that HDMI is not the best way to connect my PC to my monitor as its refreshing rate drops from 120Hz to 60Hz, and i would be very dizzy if i used that. Thing is what happens with the bluray movies. There are some movies that can be played through the 3D vision software, but this is only for compressed 3D metroska files. What happens though with the Blu ray movies?:O

powerdvd 12 ultra reads and displays my 3d blu-rays on my vg278h through dual-link dvi without any issues. my LG blu-ray player does not specifically mention 3d support but I don't think that's relevant, any BD drive should work I believe. while I'm at it, make sure you check out the tintin 3d blu-ray, it's absolutely stellar.

then why don't you go for the best way?
First of all, I would like to thank you all for your replies/advices...
@Anistotonic: after your reply i will be using DVI-D DL cable...thats for sure. Thing is that I didnt know that it would work that way... You see, i believed that in order to play blu ray movies(3D and normal ones), i must use HDMI cable. It seems by your reply, that I was wrong. Also i think that the 1st 3D movie i would like to see is "The Hobbit", but i promise you that Tintin will be the after one. :P
@teardropmina: It seems that there is a rumor saying that the best way to connect a display to your PC is by HDMI. I believed that rumor. So, smone must explain why this rumor is wrong! :)

Based on the list, your monitor does support HDMI 3D vision and Blue-ray.

dual DVI cable should come with the monitor, and you sure have hdmi cable...just try?
all, I don't know about how that rumor comes about...dual DVI has been the default connecting cable for 3D vision monitor from the very beginning.

I use that monitor and play 3D blu rays using Power DVD 11 with a dual link DVI cable from my PC. I also used to play them with my PS3 linked to the screen with a high speed HDMI cable.
Both work fine for blu rays, but if you want propper 3D in gaming too at 120hz 1920 x 1080 you must use the DVI cable instead of an HDMI cable.

Just to dispel something else mentioned.. there are Blu-ray players that can not do 3D. You always want to search for a 3D logo on a Blu-ray player.
There was a user in PowerDVD's forum who tried everything to get 3D working using an internal player... turned out the player was the problem. Replaced it with a 3D certified one and everything worked.
I'm sure just about every current player is built to use 3D Blu-ray but it's still something to check on.

First of all, I must say thnx for aaaall the responces. It is a fact that many of my questions were answered. Now, I do have to wait till i get paid/order the monitor, and of course wait till the monitor arrives to me.
@Drayth: My current BD-player is an Asus BC-08B1ST and as I searched over the Internet to check if it is capalbe or playing bluray 3D movies, I couldn't find any infos. So my next move was to find a 3D certified BD rom, but all I found were exteral BD players for home cinemas. No BD rom's.
And again thnx for helping me out :).... I can not wait till monitors arrival!:) I hope its worth the waiting :)

Any of the BD-ROMs can play 3D Blu-ray movies. But you'll need software to play it back, curently the only choices are from Cyberlink, Arcsoft or Corel for 3D Blu-ray disc playback. If you rip the disc to your hard drive there are more choices, but the file sizes can be huge depending on the conversion quality.
The biggest thing, is some of the older BD-Roms read slow, so some of the newer models are better suited to use for ripping etc.
I use a Sony BDUX10S in my older rig, which reads Blu-rays at 2X and have had very little trouble with it.

INSTALL NVIDIA DRIVER 306.23 WHQL
HERE IS THE LINK FOR WIN8 64B WIN7 64B
http://www.nvidia.com/object/win8-win7-winvista-64bit-306.23-whql-driver.html
ENABLE STEREOSCOPIC 3D FROM THE NVIDIA CONTROL PANEL
DO THE TEST OF STEREOSCOPIC 3D
OPEN POWERDVD 10
and it work with the dvi
but hope the support can take a look at this issue for the next up date to fix it
and i still have a problem with PowerDvd 12
when i press the 3d button its gives an error msg
powerdvd could not enable 3d playback . try choosing a different 3d display divice
