How are 3D supported projectors connected?
I am stationed in Korea and already enjoy 3D with my Acer monitor. I am going to purchase a 3D supported projector and I've been looking over several. Some of the older projectors don't have HDMI, some of the newer ones listed do. How do you hook them up to get 3D on them? Can you list your projector and how you have it hooked up? I want to purchase appropriate cables online with the projector. If its HDMI I can order a 25 foot, if its a DVI duellink vga thing, I can order that one. One of my final choices are the Acer H5360. My acer screen has been great, so i'm willing to go acer for the projector. Your feedback would be appreciate it.

Acer H5360 connected with the cheapest 16 foot HDMI cable I could find to my HDMI switch, which is getting a signal feed from a DVI to HDMI cable from the PC.

Since you are doing 720p @ 120hz with any of these projectors, any HD cable should have enough bandwidth.

U either need dvi-d or hdmi(1.3-1.4.) Acer 5360 has hdmi spot but not dvi. So as long as video card has hdmi spot get a hdmi(look to see if it includes ethernet.) If not buy a dvi-hdmi adapter(any works)

I'm using a Viewsonic JPD6211, and it uses VGA. The reason I got it was that they had a free screen promotion going at the time, I'm not sure how it compares to the Acer but I've had no problems with it.

They don't connect to the emitter or anything, just straight video to the computer and only USB for the emitter. I'm running it with both the VGA cable it came with (I'm not sure how long it is, maybe 4 or so feet?) and an 8-foot extension.

Taking a chance with H5360. Search for EDID problem with the Acer projector. I have the issue. I have discovered work arounds, however, that will not help me when it comes time to put the projector on EBay. Acer customer service is a joke. It exists more to provide another means for Acer to make money, not as an additional incentive to make you buy their products. Probably no worse than any of these oriental east Indian tech companies though. They all suck at Customer Service. They know we have to buy from them, so thy don't worry about trying to meet the expected standard of the western world.

I have a Viewsonic PJD6381, which has the VGA but no hdmi. To get it working with VGA have a look at the DVI Connector Guide diagrams at the bottom of this web page

http://www.datapro.net/techinfo/dvi_info.html

For the vga you need DVI-I Dual Link, Digital & Analog, Three rows of eight pins and four contacts around the blade. I then just plug a standard vga into the adapter and the other end into the projector.

Here's a picture of the adapter
