My computer is showing it's age.

MSI GTX 980 (Single card)
I can't push 4K in 3D. Been working on 3DTVPlay so only 720p.
Used checkerboard and the SBS shader to give me over-under at 4K.
I don't really know what the hate is against 720p. It allows me to hit the 60hz per eye target.
I'm planning on getting a newer GTX card and the new cards should arrive this summer. I expect most games would get gimped at 24hz 1080p.
Anyone able to score 60hz per eye at 4K stereoscopic.

Hi Flugan, I was able to do 4k 3d @ 60hz in many old games released prior to 2014. Currently I have fallen back to 3DTV Play since:
In many old games @ 4K, the text / HUD / menu is too small to be able to read - I guess the devs never imagined that the games will be run on 4K resolution, so did not test it.

Wish you could do proper 1080p60 3D like with my monitors.
Any solution I know of is like SBS and over-under which provides only half res compared to 1080p.
I think your computer issue is obvious. You need a new GPU for 3d at high resolutions.
i7-4790K CPU 4.8Ghz stable overclock.
16 GB RAM Corsair
EVGA 1080TI SLI
Samsung SSD 840Pro
ASUS Z97-WS
3D Surround ASUS Rog Swift PG278Q(R), 2x PG278Q (yes it works)
Obutto R3volution.
Windows 10 pro 64x (Windows 7 Dual boot)
By dropping down to 720p60 3D you only need half the performance of 1080p60.
4K 3D is even 8 times slower than 720p.
This doesn't change that I have a new graphics card at highest priority.
Yeah I mean my system still kinda struggles in some cases running at 1440p at max detail in 3dvision to maintain a constant 60fps. I noticed a huge jump in resource usage just from 1080p to 1440p let alone 3d at 4k.
Because of 3d gaming I don't see myself making the jump to 4k despite the technology for many a year yet...
Id much rather have a game run at 60fps at high graphics settings than almost any resolution jump personally, 60fps makes a more significant visual difference to me and more importantly Feel. I think 1440p is the sweet spot at this point for 3D gamers. And even then you need a high end video card to meet my standards, arguably SLI too sadlt and that doesn't always work well.

Another question is regarding 30hz fixed or varying framerate especially with 3D.
3D and varying framerate becomes a bit strange. You can't really display a half-rendered frame and the next frame is for a different eye.

Why did you make the thread linked below after realising you were creating too many topics? I don't even understand the purpose of that thread, it looks like the kind of thing you might put on your desktop as a notepad file to remind you to do something?

If I might make a suggestion, consider self-imposing a limit of one or two new topics a week. That way you have to force yourself to consider if what you're about to post really needs to be a topic of its own.

That's not at all clear in the thread. It's still not clear, in fact. Is this a wishlist for games you want someone to buy for you? Or is this a wishlist of games you would like to see fixed? None of this is clear in the original post, making it essentially meaningless to anyone but yourself.
If it's a wishlist for games you would like to see fixed, you've been here long enough to know the normal response to those kinds of requests is politely pointing the requester towards bo3b's shaderhacker school, and helping them fix the game themselves. If you want them fixed, have you considered trying to learn how to do it yourself? You're a smart guy, and these are older games with (I assume) fairly simple shaders (at least in comparison to many DX11 titles).
