Using the built-in IR-Emitter of one monitor for another monitor that does not have one
Hey there, I have a 3D vision ready monitor from Acer with a built-in IR-Emitter. 3D always worked like a charm. Now I bought another monitor that is 3D capable (from ASUS) but does not have a IR-Emitter built-in. I'd rather not spend money on an external IR-Emitter, so I thought there must be a way to use the built-in emitter from my Acer for my new monitor, but I haven't found a way to make the new screen recognize it. Also, since the new monitor is now my primary monitor (because it is better), there is no way of using 3D- vision at all. 3D vision can't be activated even for the Acer. I'm guessing this is because it is now my secondary monitor. Is there any way of making the new monitor pick up the signal of the IR-emitter built into the Acer , or to at least keep using 3d-vision with the Acer (while keeping it as my secondary monitor)? Thanks for any suggestions!

I know there is a program that emulates the nvidia dongle perfectly, your computer won't even know that it's not plugged in. I'm not going to link to it obviously because the great lidless eye is watching but you can find it easy enough with a google search. I've used it, it works. That will take care of enabling 3D Vision on the computer and the monitor in question but you still need to be able to make the glasses shutter at the right refresh rate. Does the other monitor's emitter automatically turn on when you go into 3D mode?

Thanks for your reply! So the Acer (with built-in emitter) goes into 3d mode (green LED) as soon as I fire up a game in full screen if the 3D option is enabled in Nvidias control center.

Hey there, so the emulator didn't work. The 3d vision setup couldn't be finished, because no emitter was detected. Any other suggestions?

Setting the displays to mirror mode could work.

If the monitors are at the same resolution, refresh rate, etc.. you should have 3D vision on both monitors and the glasses will trigger when the emitter comes on.

Hi there, so I did some more testing: if I duplicate the displays with the same resolution and refresh rate, I can use 3d vision again, however, only the Acer (with the integrated emitter) will show a 3d image, not my new screen. So if I want to play in 3d I have to use the Acer as my only display and then I can use 3d vision. After playing I can then switch back to my multi display. I don't know why the new screen won't switch to 3d vision mode. The 3d vision setup immediately detects the integrated emitter of the Acer, but somehow it does not even give me the option to look for an integrated emitter with the new screen. I appreciate any more suggestions. Best wishes, Sirius
