I guess the directory that I am supposed to install this file to no longer exist since steam changed things. Where do I put these files now? http://helixmod.blogspot.com/2012/09/source-based-gamesmods-half-life-series.html
So... That Black Mesa Mod is not really the same as Half Life 2. Are you interested in the Mod specifically, or just Half Life 2?
Installing the Black Mesa Mod is non-trivial. You need to use the 2007 Source SDK, and do some other steps to get it working.
If you aren't doing the Black Mesa Mod, this HelixMod patch doesn't make sense to use.
HL2 works pretty well in 3D. Buildings at distance are off, water is off, but overall it's pretty good. No HelixMod that I see.
oh man, i was under the impression that the mod worked for most of the source games , oh well im fine with the way it looks now , just the water is kinda annoying.

Nope, sorry about that. That mod is set up to use the 2007 version of the Source SDK, which is pretty old nowadays, and certainly not what HL2 itself is going to be using. (Black Mesa==HL1)
Shaders are all different in newer versions of Source SDK.
You might try Mike's fix for Left for Dead2, that's fairly likely to be an up-to-date Source SDK.
that did not seem to fix anything, im good without a fix though
Hi - I'm late to this thread, but no the L4D2 fix doesn't work (I tried it ages ago). Mana84 did start a HL2 fix quite some time back (he disappeared off the face of the earth at some point, so I hope he is OK...) though I am not sure water was fixed. The HL2 engine has a problem with water in general - it might start out rendering fine, but when you "go under" the water and come back up it renders all wrong. This happens in many games. If you Alt-Tab out of game and back in it corrects itself. Even "Dear Esther" has this problem. This implies some driver/game issue that is probably not fixable.
