No, we are stuck with nVidia glasses. Looking fwd to screenshots.

I'll post some - again, it may be sketchy given my glasses are gone.

As for using OTHER glasses: here is where I fault nVidia: they've created a proprietary solution....and I hate that. I hate it when people use them without GOOD REASON.

eVGA GTX580 SSC (slight factory OC, nothing on my part)
Am I on the wrong drivers? (167.31) I mean, hell I can even see if eVGA has updated videocard BIOS out, but I doubt that's it given it works fine otherwise.
How old are those drivers?? Is that even possible on a 580?
I'm thinking you have a serious driver conflict.

Ah, should have figured.
Well I have the same monitor and drivers as you and I even reinstalled RE5 just for kicks. Tried out the benchmark and yes, lots of ghosting in the cutscenes. But once within the actual gameplay part of the benchie, just about all of the ghosting was gone, and that's with my monitor at 75 contrast, but works fine for me.

I've noticed that most of the severe ghosting is when the characters are shown with the bright background behind them, this is common among lots of games in 3d unfortunately. Super contrasting scenes don't hold up very well in 3d. But is it glasses chuckingly awful? Not in my opinion. I think either your glasses were defective or your expectations were way too high for the implementation of this tech.

As for the actual 3d effect. RE5 has locked convergence, and thus doesn't offer the most spectacular 3d effect. You want mind blowing try Batman, World of Warcraft, Assassins Creed, Darksiders, and plenty more. Third Person is the way to go for 3d in my opinion. That's my take on it, not everyone agrees, but there you go.

Damned if I know - and that's just it. RE5 is supposed to be one of the rockstar 3D titles. All I know is that in RE5 I saw pronounced ghosting and a complete lack of any 3D pop that was...well, desirable. I'm actually posting this so that when I get glasses tomorrow, someone can tell me what to try - I'll certainly snap photos. But given I saw ghosting in the test app as well, I suspect I'm calling BS on the tech. But again, someone can feel free to tell me what I'm doing wrong.

Edit: I'll ask this again:
Having scoured these forums last night, it sounded like there was no way to get anything other than the nVidia glasses to play nice with the vision kit, yes?

From this reply and an earlier describing 3 objects instead of 1 in RE5 it sounds like something isn't configured correctly. I read over some of the previous replies and I think Skarling has actually covered everything I would've suggested in trying to verify what you are seeing is normal or not. What you want to do is look at some S3D .JPS pictures and also take a few of your own using Alt-F1 to see if its a problem with your software or hardware set-up or your in-game depth/convergence settings. You can verify by seeing if other people's screenshots look normal to you in the Photo Viewer. I actually had a similar problem with RE5 once where box crates were showing hard ghosting silhouettes on the last level, but simply restarting the game fixed it.

Just a few more things to try and verify:

Using included DL-DVI cable with AW2310? Input selected is DVI-D?
Make sure 120Hz output is set in Windows Display properties, Nvidia Control Panel, and in-game setting?
Emitter light is solid bright green when 3D Vision kicks in. Try to connect it directly to a USB port on your PC and not a hub or through another device (like Monitor or KB).
Latest drivers (WHQL or Beta should both work with RE5 and Trine).

Grabbed 23 images, uploaded here: http://rampantandroi...eoscopic3D.IMG/

Didn't have time for anything else...should have other glasses to toy with today in the evening.

If I view one of those images on my system, without glasses of course, I can percieve a flicker out the corner of my eye; if I look directly at the area I see no flicker, but can very clearly see it in my peripheral vision. Switching to game mode alleviates it some, but not much.
