Hello 3D vision Friends :)
I had done some 3D gaming on a CRT years ago and enjoyed it thoroughly, so I thought I would see how the new 3D was coming along.
So, this week I bought an Asus VG278H ( used ), adjusted convergence and depth, and OMG.
It LOOKS FANTASTIC !!! O LORDY ! I had no idea it was this good now !
I know you all know what I am talking about so I won't bother to describe it.
Suffice to say I am not sure I can go back to 2D gaming after this.

I went to the Helixmod website and now I think I know why my 3D experience was so impressive.
The game I have been using it on ( Guild Wars 2 ) was given the Top stereoscopic 3D rating for 2012 by the guy that was there to Mod it. He said their were some issues at first but the developer took care of those and that his tweaks were mainly just personal preference.
Here is the quote:
" It's the end of the year, so it's safe for me to give Guild Wars 2 my award for Best Stereoscopic 3D Game of 2012. This award is coveted by nobody in the world, ever. But if it was, ArenaNet would be proud today.
It has a dynamically rendering mouse, for goodness' sake. This game was designed to be played in stereoscopic 3D. It's a mind-blowing experience. "

Ray. Man. Legends.
Required playing.
SO fantastic in 3D.
Origins was my first 3D experience and it's one of my top 3 gaming experiences of all time. It's incredible.
If you like the Mass Effect series, I highly recommend replaying it - especially Mass Effect 1 on 100% depth.
You will be amazed by the amount of detail that are in those models. That game looks better in 3D than modern games look in 2D.
In fact, I think Mass Effect 1 might be the title I think gets the most out of 3D vision. Everything looks like little models of all the characters you know and love running around, it's incredible.
Oh, and a few of the scenes of the Normandy flying around are in 3D in ME1, it looks absolutely amazing.

I agree with ialsoagree. Mass Effect is very immersive with 3D. Its one of those games where if you can use a little bit of your imagination, along with ignoring the unrealistic bits, then your transported to another world. My experience anyway. I enjoyed pulling my VG278h closer for a wider field of view, you might give that a try down the road. Just note you will have to adjust the setting to make it look the same as when viewed at your normal distance.
Hope you've found the convergence hotkeys buried in the settings. They are essential.

I thought to add my slice of what I believe to be the best 3D Experience. Dead Space II is the top of my chart. Here is what I wrote sometime before
"With the 3D Helixmod Fix, see this link for more information

This game is a masterpiece in 3D. Has to be played in 3D correctly to appreciate.
- Great Story
- Great Characters
- Top Notch Voice Acting
- Excellent Graphics
- Great Gameplay
But, Most of all this game oozes atmosphere!!!!!!!!"
There are so many great games, especially the community fixed ones that can give you that great 3D experience. So many games and all so subjective....

Yes I did and I agree, they are ABSOLUTELY essential. Adjusting the convergence properly in tandem with the depth setting transformed my initial impression from lackluster to nothing short of Astonishing. I really can't say enough about how bowled over I was once I optimized the 3D look in game.

I'll agree to that. Not to mention there are so many games I loved in 3D [The Bureau] that I know most people would see as forgettable.
Mass Effect series is definitely great though.
3D can make a decent game-great [the bureau-2 playthrus] and an amazing game- something epic [Mass Effect-6/7 playthrus*i honestly forget*]

Agree about making a decent game great. I think of something like Darksiders II. Most people thought it was meh and forgettable. Blah, blah, blah list of complaints. But I was absolutely transported into this amazing world and that's why I loved the game so much. Just an amazing place to visit. And that's what I really love about 3D games. Games that transport me into this fantastical world. Atmosphere >>>> all else. Kingdom of Amular is another game that's thoroughly forgettable as a 2D game, but an amazing game due to the atmosphere in 3D.

Welcome to our outcast group, Ted_R.
Your adventure and discovery was very similar to most of us.
Stereo 3D is the best thing that happened to gaming, and it's just so sad that so few people know this.
Pay your respects to Helix, Eqzitara and all the other S3D champions at Helixblog, and enjoy gaming the way it was supposed to have been meant to be :-)
(Oh, nVidia...)

Thank You Zapp,
I appreciate the warm welcome :)
Sounds like Nvidia support has faded somewhat ? Bummer. If more people could experience PC 3D on a properly setup system I think that would change. Thank goodness we have the folks you mentioned to carry forward the tradition.
My respects to Helix, Eqzitara and all the other S3D champions at Helixblog, Thank You All :)
And thank you to all the kind folks that have participated in this thread so far.
