I remove shadows using Flugan's dx11 wrapper. Copy-paste of the other post (install process is the same as Helix wrapper):
This is only a TEST, only shadows are removed.....there is still some lights issues, sun is render wrong and others stuff. Use High Soft shadows and AO off.

thank you good sir. goingg to try this out. I'm also going to try the AC4 2.5D on a DLP as it supposedly look better on bigger screens as for the monitors it looks damn awful to me.

I just got AC4 BF, and when I installed it, it said it was "Excellent", and it looks fantastic, even with the shadows on. The only problem I have is a weird halo around characters, but if you turn up the convergence it makes it shrink, and the halos don't effect the game hardly at all. The halos are more noticeable in cut scenes, not so much when playing. It really looks out of this world fantastic in 3D. I am blown away happy...

I find the hud movements/unnatural distortion much more distracting but perhaps I play at a higher depth setting.
Distortion is a side effect of depth buffer/"fake 3d" that there is nothing to do about besides alter convergence/depth setting.
err edit I misunderstood.
Tridef does in a way. Problem is huds are very often hard to seperate like you ussually want only some elements on depth buffer. But you normally have to go all in one way or another. All / none.
Its not like helix's wrapper where I can pick and choose hud textures.
I haven't seen a game with hud "blood" / "rain drops" / etc on depth buffer and I am kind of curious how that will work since in my mind I can see that being extremely annoying.

Works for me. At first 3d vision would not switch on but after a game restart it worked with the 3d vision and 3dtvplay. 3d is broken though and black flag 3dmigoto fix didnt work for it. Compatibility mode worked ok with black flag profile.

Anybody knows if something can be done to improve performance in AC4. I have an i7 860 @ 2.8 and GTX 780 and running on 720p in 3D i get 20 to 30 fps when walking/running in havana and depending the location it goes up to 45 - 50 fps.
I monitored my cpu and gpu usage. The first core sometimes reaches 90% usage and the last core around 70% usage, the other cores have little usage. The GPU average usage is 50%/60%. Shouldn't i be getting better FPS on this? The game is playable like this but I wonder if there are any tricks? Using win 8.1

If I remember correctly, you need to turn off smoke from fires. They barely help the mood, and absolutely hammer performance with a bad PhysX implementation.
Also might be worth trying latest version of 3Dmigoto as a drop in replacement of the dlls (not ShaderFixes nor d3dx.ini). I put in some work awhile back on performance. I think I re-released it with good performance though, because PirateGuyBrush found a bug that I resolved.
