Acer X1261 with Nvidia 3D Vision Problem
  1 / 2
Hi,

i tried to connect my pc with my acer X1261 projector to use the Nvidia 3D Vision. The projector is listed in the minimum requirements for using 3D Vision.

Problem is, that the projector didn`t has a DVI-D interface. For that, i tried to use a DVI-I to VGA adapter with a VGA cable. With this adapter i get the message that it`s not possible to run the 3D stereoscopic mode.
Today, i tried to resolve the problem with a VGA to DVI-I adapter. I tried the adapter with my DVI-D cable, but with this configuration the projector get no signal and the screen is black.

Has anybody a hint for me to get my X1261 run with 3D Vision?

Regards,
Anton

Hi,

i´m in contact with the nvidia customer support. Maybe they have some hints for the problem. The colours are ok. But i think the 3D effect is bettter on my Samsung LCD. The depth view is on my X1261 not so good as on my Samsung.

Hope Nvidia or Acer can help my problem. At the moment i think the problem is my used cable.

Anton

Pfffff - I'd be surprised as hell if nVidia gave you the time of day, let alone actually help you. There's a critical bug in the last two drivers rendering perfectly capable 3D displays useless (um yeah. They just simply don't work now. :\ ) and I haven't even got an acknowledgment from support from the two tickets I sent in.

Hrm I agree, and am anxiously awaiting word on what the heck is going on with generic CRT/DLP support.

Mods do you know anything about this? Is it going to be fixed within the next driver set?

Thank you.

Hi,

here is a short update to my problem. NVIDIA published new 3D Vision beta drivers which resolved some problems with DLP projectors. The problem with my X1261 is not fully resolved. But they on a good way.

Hi Anton

I am also having problems with my X1261 and 3D Vision. When I try to enable 3D stereo from the nvidia control panel it reconizes the the projector as a 3D capable projector. When I get to the test screen I am seeing the images correctly in my left and right eye but there is a message saying that the projector is in an incompatible mode.

Have you got your X1261 to work at all with 3D Vision and if so, how?

I am using a GTX 295 card with the latest official drivers (I will test the beta drivers later this weekend). The projector is connected via the VGA cable shipped with the projector and I am using a 24+5pin Dual Link DVI->VGA adapter.

Kasper

Hi All

A couple of things

1. Please try using the analog CRT connector with this projector
2. Please try running in 120Hz mode, not 85Hz
3 From the projectors menu, turn off the 3D option (i can explain that later)

Please see if this fixes your issues after doing all 3.

Hi Andrew

Thank you for the suggestions. I have couple of questions/comments though

1. Should I use another adapter then the 24+5 pin DVI->VGA connector that I am using now?
2. I can't seem to run the projector at 120Hz. I have tried creating a custom screen resolution from the nvidia control panel an setting the refresh rate at 120Hz, but I am getting a message that this is incompatible with the projector.
3. I can't find a 3D option in the on-screen projector menu. Could you eloborate a bit more on this?

Thanks again

Hi Kasper,

i had a interesting phone call today with the german acer customer support. They told me, that the current X1261 NOT 3D Vision ready. The information on NVIDIA page about the X1261 is not correct.

In january a new revision of the X1261 are released by acer and that on has a DVI interface and the 3D Vision Logo.

If you also want to contact Acer, i can send you my call number. Maybe you get some more information as i get.

Regards,
Anton

Acer X1261 3D projector.

Runs 3D games and 3D Blu-ray Discs.
Nvidia 3D image quality good.
3D Blu-ray image quality good but Panasonic 3D plasma's heaps better.
3D image goes in. Does not come out as 3D TV image does.

Good price for a projector that can play 3D Blu-ray Discs.
I'm happy with price and quality.

Moviebuff,

I just bought the Acer x1261-3d. However it is still detected as Generic CRT? Does your Acer actually show up in the Nvidia settings/Windows 7 as an Acer X1261? I also can't get the 3D to work?

Any ideas?

All,

I figured this out... I switched it over to the VGA cable it came with and voila - detected as Acer X1261-3D (and now 3D vision mode works) - works very well too. *On that note I am very dissapointed that Nvidia doesn't allow 85hz on say 1280x800 etc... the projector is perfectly capable of it... so you are kind of locked in at 1024x768 or 800x600 (why use that?)... I will say the 3D videos I have looked great and oblivion was fantastic across the wall in 3D.

I will say that the extra money (if you have it - and I didn't) woudl be worth the 1280x800 (widescreen 3D projectors).
