Hello, NVIDIA. Can you please release OpenGL support for 3d vision on GeForce cards?

OpenGL is the portable, open standard for 3d graphics.

DirectX/3d is a Microsoft proprietary API, for games on Windows.

It's no good to neglect OpenGL, and support only DirectX.

- 3d vision for new OpenGL apps, with explicit stereo calls
- 3d vision for existing OpenGL apps, similar to what you have with direct X
- 3d vision drivers for OpenGL on Mac OS and Linux.

You have done well with 3d vision for Direct X. I don't imagine that there are insurmountable difficulties to do the same for OpenGL, it is just a matter of handling a different API. I could probably do it myself in a month or two, if I worked for NVIDIA and had access to your code. Please invest the effort to develop this essential feature; or hire me to do it for you.

In reality DirectX is used FAR more often than OpenGL for whatever reason. I wish NVIDIA would support OpenGL, too, but I've got a lot of other features I would like to see more.

Dont worry lads, by 2045 or 2050 im sure we'll be seeing OpenGL support. What you need to worry about is what kind of arthritis pain relievers work the best and have the least side effects, that and maybe orthopedic back supports for the elderly. Seriously people, a scant 30 to 40 years, i've no doubt we'll see proper OpenGL support. I always thought that opengl 3d application usage was closely tied to 3d vision pro/quadro cards. Wouldn't this interfere with sales to developers/schools? If so, I doubt they will do it at all.
Though to be honest I would be happier if they focused on other things, all old games can be played on windows xp/older 3d glasses/older card. I paid for this setup and it probably ran me $70 bucks. So I can play old opengl games. New ones that can't be played are very few since opengl is pretty much dead to developers. Just my opinion.

I've been waiting for years now for nvidia to add the opengl support to 3d vision they said when the product launched that they would add..... I'm still waiting.

I have many programs I would like to use in stereo 3D but can't because NVidia doesn't currently support OpenGL.

It works, I've used. However, it's inefficient and it needs to run at 60fps for the left and right images to be in sync. Playing at 720p with my GTX560Ti/i5 2500, I have no problem.
