Metro 2033 only in DX9!? Is this a driver problem?
2 / 4
Just played a little of METRO. Its VERY VERY cool so far. The 3d looks AWESOME (seems to have locked convergence though). It is a hog though. Im running it with advanced physx (dedicated 250) a 285 and a Q6600 @3.4 and it chugs at max resolution. I lowered my settings to HIGH and lowered my resolution 3 notches on my 22 inch Viewsonic and Im now getting about 40 fps inside,,,,,and it still looks great. Sometimes I dont mind a little lower resolution if it gets me frames. In some games it gives a little softer look then then super high polished resolutions....call me crazy. but frames are king and to play this game in anything but glorious 3d is a crime!.
I need to try this on my 60 inch Mitsu. (too tired to lug the computer into the family room) /confused.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

I suspect that the locked convergence was done so that there wouldn't be any strange mess ups when viewing the many cutscenes. I like being able to adjust convergence also, but this game already looks great even with the locked convergence. It is definitely a resource hog though. My GTX 285 SLI setup is running the game decently but there are still some slight chugs here and there.

Initially though I had dx10 + 3dvision but not so. 3d only with dx9.
Too bad. Hope this is fixed with next drivers.
Or mabey we need dx11 (GTX400s)?
Anybody know how to change individual graphics settings, .config file etc?
Can't seem to change betweeen 4xmsaa and "aaa" which is analytic antialiasing (post process like stalker?)
Environments, lighting, smoke effects, depth of field very very immersive in 3D.
But can't run very high settings even with 2xGTX285s + GTS250 for Physx: fps dips into mid 20's in places @ 1780x992.
Give us those GTX480's already.

Well, i've played the game some in 2D (not at home) and it's running about the same as crysis I'd say. I have a lot of the settings on high like they were by default, i disabled AA though because i'd rather have more FPS. It's playable for sure in 2D on my gtx260, but I'm guessing that this game in 3D is going to be what makes me really start craving a new GPU...
The game looks amazing graphically thought. I love the lighting and the models and how well it all blends together to form a very realistic scene. Like, some games have character models that stand out too much (not light up accurately, colors off or something) or shadows that just looks like crap (gta4) and pop out, but this games beautiful. Even if i end up having to turn some settings down to play it smoothly in 3D, its still going to look better than most of the run-of-the-mill cross-console port games that we've been flooded w/ in the past year or 2.

Lean your head closer to the monitor and you can make it smaller, but that's all I know how to do.
Seriously though, hopefully someone figures it out soon.

1.Adjust user settings
There is two user.cfg
One is located in your:
appdata/local/4agames/metro2033
The other is in your steam folder under: userdata/*youraccountnumber*/43110/remote
If you want to tweak any setting under this you will need to edit one, save it, and then copy it over the other, or edit them both at the same time.
There is a third in the metro 2033 directory but it is not used.
2.Field of View
I found the original fov to be annoying.
In the user.cfg change sick_fov 45 to 60 for 16:9
Not sure about the other ratios but Anything more than 60 seems to cause some really weird stuff.
