Geforce 3D Vision and Intermittent Flashing
I am getting similar flashes on my system and I am not using SLI. For me it seems to be stray IR flashed caused from remote extenders which interfere with the sync of the glasses. During the initial setup you are given a choise between three options for the IR emitter, the default left, middle, and right. The middle works best for my configuration, and the right is the worst.

However, while UT2004 now works perfectly whereas before it flashed every 3 minutes, FS2004 still seems to flash. FS2004 was about as bad as UT2004, flashing every 3 minutes, now it only flashes every ten minutes or so. Furthermore, about once an hour the 3D effect goes out all together, the bright green indicator is still lit and the screen is still in stereo, but the glasses stop shuttering. My guess is that it is still getting some stray IR light which is causing some confusion within the glasses as this happens in both applications/games even after changing the emitter setup. I don't understand why the flashing seems to be application/game specific, maybe a driver bug?
It seems many other people are having this issue as well. However, the final conclusion that tech support came to for my issue was to RMA the glasses. Hopefully the next pair I get will not have this issue.

It does sound like a driver issue with the white flashing. Reason being is that the glasses dont give off light themselves, they only turn (mostly) black. Any white flashes would need to come from the image on the screen itself. You can confirm this by running a game that has issues with the flashing a lot, turn the 3d on, but dont wear the glasses. If you still see the flash, you know theres an issue besides the glasses. Make sure the game itself is patched up, try playing with ingame settings ( starting from lowest, work your way up ),and use the drivers from the 1.03 package. Also, try reinstalling the monitors drivers, or even using a generic lcd monitor driver. The problem could potentially be monitor related.

Hi guys..

For me so far the only game that flashes is WOW. Like going in to stormwind it will flash .. I found playing with the settings that turn up the grass and stuff you know? Like I have one micro that turn is all off so there is no grass veg nothing. I found if I crank it I can get it to flash really good. Or when it starts if I turn distance down it will stop. But so far its the only one that flashes.

Its definitely an issue with the glasses though, because I've taken them off and looked through them from a distance in front of me so that I could see what was happening on the screen at the same time without glasses on, and the flashing is definitely localized to a specific lens of the glasses. The monitor is not producing them.

Two possible causes ... one, the glasses are defective, or two, you have stray IR radiation in the room causing the glasses to go out of sync. The second is the only one you can troubleshoot ... you might want to try moving the system into an isolated room, messing with the IR strength in the setup wizard, etc.

I've tried many different setups, and gone so far as to unplug all the electronics around the room (TV, PS3, etc) to make sure there was no additional interference, and the issue still occurs. Although I haven't seen an option to change IR strength in the setup wizard. It just detects the IR emitter and then tells me to turn on the glasses and select a refresh rate. Oh well, it is currently returning for an RMA, hopefully the next one I get will not suffer the same issue.
I had this exact problem happen to me in WoW. Flashing every few seconds or so in the right lense only for me. I solved it by turning off SLI (I have 2 8800 cards in my alienware). Turn SLI back on, flashing came back. Turn it off, goes away completely.
It looks like the Sli might be the issue. I tried for an hour on my 295 gtx yesterday with Sli turned off. It flashed about once every five minutes or so. I tried today for an hour with Sli turned on and it flash a lot more (a few times a minute). After turning it off, it went right back to flashing once every five minutes or so..

It's strange that Sli effects it so much. I hope that this is something that can be fixed in software..

In your room setup, do you have a light source really close to you? Say maybe a desktop lamp pointing at your face?

Update: I received my new 3d glasses today after the RMA of the old ones. The flashing is basically gone, although it still occurs rarely at 120Hz. It never occurs at 110Hz or 100Hz (as far as I know). I guess it was just a little bit of faulty hardware in either the IR transmitter or the receiver on the glasses. I was just wondering what is the possibility of interference from any other electronics in the room? I have a wireless bluetooth keyboard and mouse, as well as a PS3 in the same general area (although the PS3 is generally off when I'm using the 3D vision).

Hi

Bluetooth should cause any intereference, but IR could. Try looking for anything that could be causing IR signals: remote controls, halogen lights really close to your glasses, other IR devices?

I'm glad to here its working for you!

It seems like the issue came back a little bit, since I downclocked my E8200 back to stock speeds (2.66 GHz from 3.2 GHz) because I was running into stability issues in other things. This leads me to think that it might be tied to performance, and it also might be tied to the fact that I have two different GPUs (not in SLI) in my system for multi monitors (a GTX 280 and an 8400 GS PCI), and that might be an edge case that the driver team hasn't really tested.

It could be. It would be interesting to know if removing the PCI cards fixes the issue. Flashing shouldnt be tied to performance.

I'm having the EXACT same problem. It has NOTHING to do with lighting or drivers or anything like that. Lighting would be flicker in peripheral vision. Our problem is the glasses shutters turning of and back on and not being synced at the right speed. My guess is the problem is the GeForce 200 series cards. I had my glasses working with my 8800 gts with NO problems. I installed my BFG geforce gtx 280 and all of a sudden i had problems. I RMA'd my glasses and the new ones flicker even more. I'm going to try and put in my 8800 gts again to see if it fixes it.

Abtin you are 100% RIGHT. I am using my 8800gtx (had to ..lol HAD TO switch) and I have NO none flickering at all. If I stick in my 280 FLICKERING. Tested on a 2 Asus p35/X48 and a Abit 45. Tested in Windows Vista 32/64. Tested in total black room. Tested with desktop lamp (off to the right :) ). Tested with NO NONE IR around. Tesed with IR. I read Andrews about no PCI so just Video and nothing else. Tested underclock EVERYTHING 1st high/med/low.

In all that testing the flickering on the GTX280 was the same. GTX8800 flawless with no flickering at all. I bought as did some others YOUR gtx280 then the 3Dvision.

PLEASE fix this! People come here to READ up and find out. And what I am reading is the 280 or 200 series might be having some problems and this might give people a reason not to buy 3Dvision.

Thanks :)

As i posted on the topic DPC latency causing flickering.. I have a gtx280 and have zero to no flickering (maybe once every 5 minutes) unless I try to run two gtx280's in SLI (then it is every 10 seconds) .

I did check my latency by the way (download program http://www.thesycon.de/deu/latency_check.shtml ) and it seems to run 250us up to 1000us without SLI.

Just wanted to make sure all the facts are out there for a solution which I hope also fixes my SLI problem.
