Crysis 3 - 3D does not work?

I'm not shocked. With Vision on 100% depth I can see a (slight) "v" on things such as a handrail so there is some difference but even then the 3D fails the 'side-2-side head movement' test with almost no depth movement. I'll have to boot up C2 and see if it the 3Dvision on it was as dead. I have not bothered trying the Crytek '3D', much like C2 you have to disable 3Dvision to get the gray on the 'feature' removed so its selectable. This likely will only render Crytek's 'fake 2D+depth'. If only F5/F6 were unlocked I might be able to get some pop out.
What do you mean by that you have to disable 3Dvision to get the gray out, so you can select the option - Stereo 3D - Drivers in Crysis 3 3D options menu? If you disable 3D Vision in the NV control panel, how can you use 3D through Nvidia drivers? Doesn't make sense. This option sounds like the real 3D, as it says Stereo 3D - Drivers, so it's not Crytek fake 3D. That's how I see it, but you can never use it. Have you ever tried this option, and if you did what happens to 3D effects, and if it's not to be used with 3D Vision, than what 3D sofware should we use?
It makes perfect sense. Crysis2/3 can fake 3D on their own (no 3D driver needed) - however - will not allow you to use the option if it detects the 3Dvision driver enabled - so the "in game" fake 3D option is grayed out and unavailable. If you disable 3D vision the game will then make this option available. Crysis2/3 will do this on ANY MFG video card. Simply attach a HDMI cable to a 3DTV and Intel graphics powered laptop will spit out a fake 3D image in my TV. The reason I call the 'in game' 3D option as "fake" as C2's was fake 3D and actually only 2D+Depth and if you were using Vision it would merely (just like C3 does) say 'driver'. In C2 Vision always looked better as I could crank the depth up AND it was arguably rending two distinct frames with a variable offset depending on "Z" axis depth of the object. Just for grins since my C3 copy came with a free copy of C1 I just tried running it. Yuck. There must be some patches for it as I can't see anyone actually trying to play it with Vision (Crysis1 that is). In a bit I'm going to refresh my Crysis2 memory, I recall being able to get some depth but we had no convergence adjustment. I do recall much more depth than what I'm getting with C3 - will see. (edit) I just tried C2 and its the same as C3. (as far as vision goes) The big difference is that I can run C2 with everything on 'ultra' and barely give my 2x570's a work out, C1 and C3 on the other hand I have to run with 'high'. IMHO: While I only ran it for a few minutes C1 looked like crap and so far I think C2 looks better than C3 but I have not made it into the 'jungle' as of yet. The only 'good news' is the 1st map is indoors and I've not had a single issue with shadows or reflections on 'high'. (big deal) I would think a 2600k+2x570's would be enough to run everything on max. (sigh)

tried it this morning and the depth is lame, you can see depth for about 5 metres then it kinds just becomes 2D. we should all head over to the mycrysis forums and ask what up. its so bad that for the first time ever i prefer to play in 2D rather than 3D. By using 3D (in game SBS and NVision) it basically reduces the quality of the game without any real benefit Crysis 1 with TriDef looks pretty damn good. there is one type of bush that is annoying and the water doesnt work properly, other than that its damn good looking. and due to the amount of vegetation present you really get a good feel of depth and 3D.

The "driver" option in the game menu is enabled for me and works, not sure why it's disabled for others. Don't get excited though, it still uses the fake 2d with depth. I think it essentially splits the images of the game into different sections based on how close they are to you, and then uses the 3d engine (whether it's Nvidia 3d vision, the Crysis 3 stereo driver, or AMD) to display those flat sections at slightly different depths so what you see looks like a few layers of paper cut outs layed over one another, technically it has (minimal) stereoscopic depth because and is "3d" the paper cut out on the top is closer to you than the paper its resting on, but it's not real 3d. It is interesting to notice that objects VERY close to you, such as your gun or a rock or plant if you get right up to it, almost seem to be rendered in real 3d with a little more depth, but it has to be right up in your face (within a foot or so). I thought to myself that maybe grabbing a soldier would still look cool then, sadly, he still looks flat, so either he's still too far away to be in "range" when I'm holding him by the throat, or the other things that seemed to be real 3d up close were some kind of illusion. Mostly it seems that the image is merely pushed away from the screen, so that your brain feels like the image is further away creating the illusion that it's 3d, but its really a few layers of flat images placed against each other, and pushed maybe a half an inch away from the screen, with a few objects such as your gun that might appear within that half inch being rendered with a little more depth so that the first thing your brain notices is the real 3d object and thinks its 3d, but if you pay a little attention its quickly apparent that everything beyond it is flat, and the little bit that is 3d is just the gun in front of you that will never interact with any of the real world around (kind of immersion breaking, because it makes the gun feel fake and disconnected really).

I now understand why some of you believe the driver option is disabled for you: IT ISN'T. You ARE USING THE DRIVER, it's greyed out because you can't CHANGE to a different option. Allow me to explain. I had to update my 570's drivers in order to run crysis3, and in doing so I forgot that it reset my 3d vision settings and so 3d vision was disabled unless I ran a new setup wizard. When I played crysis 3, unknowingly having 3d vision not set up or available, in the game options for the stereo 3d, it listed SEVERAL different options under 3d, such as top-bottom, side by side, interlaced, etc. You SCROLL through them; whichever one appears in the menu slot is the one being USED. Driver was also one of these options, though it did nothing for me at the time because I didn't have 3d vision set up. I then remembered that I forgot to set up 3d vision after I replaced my driver, and after setting up 3d vision, it now shows "driver" as the only stereo option, and it's greyed out. So in summary, If you SEE the word driver greyed out in the menu, that means it's being USED; if it wasn't an option it just wouldn't show up, a different option would appear there instead of the word driver (because what you're seeing is the slot for a series of options so whatever you see is the current setting, its not a single stand-alone option to enable "driver" settings specifically) and you'd be able to scroll through them. The game must be making the assumption that 3d vision is the best option for you and defaulting to it with no other choice. (If you don't understand what I'm saying and still (falsely) believe that seeing driver greyed out means it's disabled for you, I recommend you uninstall your 3d vision drivers and try playing the game again and looking at the option, and I think what I'm trying to explain will make sense when you see it for yourself) (For some reason it's not letting me simply edit my other post instead of creating this new one.)

No surprise to me its the same 3D tech system than Crysis 2....Very Sad!, this game in real 3D will be a piece of art. 3D Cryengine its like that and change that involve more development hours (that crytek dont do). Tomorrow i go to vacation (no 3D in that period..buuu), so on my return i will try this game, that give me time to forgot (a little) Dead Space 3 amazing 3D and game (last 2 chapters are epic)...hope at least the history will be great in Crysis 3.....bottom line: Its better to have a fake 3D than have nothing!! i try to think positive.

Not sure why everyone is so disappointed with the 3D. I'll concede that it's fake but I do get depth and I only see the halo around the gun when I'm pointing it at something transparent. And I agree with inosinate, it is using the Nvidia driver. I assumed that when I saw it the first time. And it still looks better than Tridef IMO and checkerboard on my PS3. Something really weird about Tridef in 3D that I can't quite get my head around.

I tried both last night (C3 '3D' rendering and Nvidia driver rendering) and as expected using the Nvidia looked better. Even the menus looked fuzzy when using C3. Both methods produced the same amount of depth. Last night I made it to the 'Liberty Dome' and got my 1st taste of grass. It appears nice enough as long as I did not look to close after all - 'micro stuttering grass blades' is not something I jump for joy over. I'll disable SLI and see it that fixes it. They stutter in 2D as well. (sigh)

So does the game reduce the render resolution. ...and is it C2 3D or is Nvidias 3D available? Im confused. Btw, guys, you've got to get on their forums and start raving like lunatics, good cop/bad cop, lol, whatever. They are definitely ON the forums right now, especially in the tech support sections.

There are a few screenshots on 3D Vision Live (e.g. http://photos.3dvisionlive.com/amplifie/image/512512425ec346f90f000009/ ) but no mention of what settings or graphic drivers are being used. Nothing on MTBS yet.

The very powerful and the very stupid have one thing in common. Instead of altering their views to fit the facts, they alter the facts to fit their views ... which can be very uncomfortable if you happen to be one of the facts that needs altering.

The maximum separation in those shots aren't even half my interpupilary distance. Using my "3d perspective" function on my 3DTV helps a ton, but still doesn't look quite right and i wouldn't say it looked good until i could try it. Not everyone has that option anyway.
As has been mentioned multiple times, both options are available.
