Mmmhh, sorry to hear that, Joe.

All I can say that it works perfectly now - I can even tab out and back again without breaking the interface. I can activate abilities and see the cool down - and it doesnt break the interface. Map runs fine all the time, too. I had to make the above described changes only once and save (strg+f7). Since then it simply works.

I wonder why it does not work for everybody, we must be missing something. I play with the driver setting that the games start without 3d activated. So I have to press str+t each time I start a game. Perhaps that makes the final difference?

Please note that in my opinion it is vital to understand that parts of WoW's interface correspond to different convergence settings (via strg+f5/f6 vs. ingame stereo setting (top bar)). You have to align those interface parts individually. The map and the cool down timer seem to be controlled via the ingame convergence setting (top bar). The rest of the interface seems to respond to strg+f5/f6. With this in mind, perhaps it's worth to try the above steps again. Keeping fingers crossed.
You say you are using strg+ is this the ctrl key on uk keyboards?
I will give it another try at the weekend with your method when I have a bit more time, but from having the game work without problems to now I dont think any of us should have to jump through hoops to get it working.

Wow is amazing in 3D, playing the battlegrounds and Instances are amazing and you get an advantage over other players due to the depth of view highlighting players hiding or stealthed being more visible.

Hopefully Andrew will get this problem sorted and if he needs any help I dont mind doing a bit of testing for him.

Ah, yes - it's ctrl key on uk keyboards.

Indeed WoW gains a lot by the 3d implementation, really stunning. It's also one of the most played games and rated excellent, so I think it's a good choice to concentrate efforts on fixing this and removing the need to do above steps (which many users naturally will never know about anyway and deem the 3d feature simply broken).

If bobarr's solution ain't working for you, you can try to rollback to 191.07. It works as long as you don't alt-tab out. If you do alt-tab out, toggle between fullscreen to window and back.

Note: My 2 cents to the problem. I think the problem is the convergence is not sync with the in game "screen depth". Drivers 191.07 and before doesn't overwrite the in game setting, which is probably why it is okay as long as user don't alt-tab out. New drivers reset convergences whenever there is a screen(ui) redraw and some of the ui(layer) are are governed by the game setting, and some are governed by the driver setting. That is probably why Bobarr's solution works for some people.

I've contacted Blizzard support multiple times about the same problems. The maps are jacked up (doubling), the menus are way off from their positions, etc. Alt+Tab results in a depth change that is not correct. Its a VERY VERY serious problem with the game.

Blizzard support seems to have zero information about the problem in their forums/knowledge base. A few emails to blizzard support in November/December 2009 resulted in a final reply: "We haven't heard anything about the problem. I checked with our support team and developers and they are not aware of any problems with the latest nVidia 3D Vision drivers."

So, someone isn't telling the truth. On this forum, Nvidia states they are working with Blizzard on the problem. Yet, Blizzard states they know nothing about the problem - or maybe they just now figured it out in 2010 and that is what your talking about?

Overall, I am very glad nVidia knows about the problem and seems to be working on it. I had suspected that Blizzard support was dodging the problem to avoid having to deal with it. My latest email to them about the problem was ignored.

Rolling back to an older driver does fix the problem - so sounds like the root cause is nVidia drivers. I've been able to consistently reproduce the exact same problem on three different video cards and two different machines. I suspect either nVidia changed the drivers and didn't tell Blizzard/developers or you introduced bugs in the latest releases. Either way, can't be too hard to dif the changes between the working drivers and the junk drivers - so how come it is taking so long to fix?

This exact problem is why we need Lemon laws for electronics - so that your forced to be careful about a release AND be held responsible for serious, long lasting defects that go uncorrected and cause the product to be useless.

Any time line when you actually will get things fixed?

BTW- I'm going to forward this forum to Blizzard support too - get some cross information posting going ;)

I really hope this gets a fix quickly as WoW in 3D is the main reason i purchased the whole set-up. I know rolling back drivers seems to fix it but i cant do that because i have the new alienware monitor and the monitor wouldnt work then. So i sit and wait......... /yucky.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':yucky:' />

Hi fellows,

just curious, have you tried the solution I proposed (and that works absolutely fine for me)? Or perhaps I did describe it too complicated or made no sense with my words? Then I could try to rephrase it.

Best wishes

I tried it last night and it did improve my view, however the UI was still out of allignment a bit and it seemed to be a bit blurry. If you have skype or MSN I am willing to give it a go over a webcam with you excplaining? If not I am going to revert back to the October drivers again as it is a smooth as silk and excellent with those drivers.

I am in work at the moment but I will take some screenshots when I get home and post them here for you to see the problems I am having, soemtimes I can feel my eyes getting tired on the 1.20 cd version with wow :(

Awaiting news from Andrew with baited breath ;)

I did try the solution and it didn't work at all for me. Although it was better, the 3D was still horrible vs what I was getting prior to the bad drivers getting released.

Got another response from Blizzard technical support. They are firmly placing the blame on nVidia. Here is the response. The "this" post was a reference to this forum.

[i]Thank you for contacting Blizzard Entertainment Technical Support.

After reading through this post (and others) I'm going to urge you to post this in our 'Bug Report' forums, as this isn't an issue within the World of Warcraft client , as far as I can ascertain. The stereoscopic settings are completely controlled by the NVidia driver suite, and there is nothing we can change in game with your settings to make the experience better for you.

For World of Warcraft the preferred method of reporting issues with the game is through our in game support Game Masters. If you are unfamiliar with how to contact them you can find the information here: http://us.blizzard.com/support/article/19775

If you are unable to contact a Game Master a bug forum has also been set up as an alternative. That forum is located here: http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/board.ht...10023&sid=1

Thanks for the feedback, fellow early adaptors.

Sigh, that doesn't look good.

@Novacce (and all others trying to solve this problem): You wrote you couldn't get a single map (i.e. no double image, but both aligned into one image). Ok, have you made sure of the following:

1) 3d driver set so, that the game starts in 2d and you have to activate via ctrl+t?
2) All of the following done after pressing ctrl+t (i.e. 3d on) but with glasses off in order to better see you changes?
3) Ingame stereo settings: the second slider all the way to the left?
4) Skill bar of your character aligned into one image via ctrl+f5/ctrl+f6? (Not: via ingame stereo first bar)? Note: The cool down effects are still messed up at this point, but are fixed simualtaneously with the next step.
5) Map screen aligned via ingame stereo setting first bar (Not: via ctrl+f5/ctrl+f6)? Note: The first (top) ingame stereo setting bar is very sensitive, so you will have to use only minimal increments/decreases in order align the map screen pefectly. It's a little time consuming since you will have to switch between map screen and stereo settings several times, but it should be doable in the end.

Thanks a lot for checking out!
Thanks for the heads up, code65! I got it working too now with the latest driver.

Let me explain the problem (for andrew and other readers) and the solution (in as much detail as possible):

1. The problem

After a certain driver version (hmmm, I think 1.11, definetely with 1.15) WoW 's interface can get heavily messed up when using 3d vision. It seems this results of different settings on driver level (emitter-depth-whell, convergence via ctrl+f5, +f6) and in-game stereo settings of WoW (convergence: first bar; depth: second bar). I assume this has to do with the avatar driver adjustmens which dealt with conflicting settings in-game and via driver level, too. The fix for the one broke the other one.
So this is how it shows up:
1) Map is unreadable as mouse cursor and written text seem to appear behind the map graphic or float in front of it way too close. Thsese elements aren't connected on one layer anymore.
2) Skill bar is messed, too. You can't see duration cooldown anymore, as these aren't in one layer with the skill grahics anymore.
3) Same for the chat text.
4) Same for some elements around the minimap (clock for example)

2. The solution

1. Start WoW and enter with a char
2. Activate 3d vision (strg+t)
3. Put off glasses so you see double image.
4. Enter in game graphic options/stereo. Turn the depth slider (the second(lower one) all the the way down (to the left).
5. Go back to the normal game screen and adjust convergence via strg+f5/strg+f6, so that there is only one skill bar visible (i.e. the two pictures of the skill lie exactly above each other).
6. Go to the map screen. Its probably still messed up.
7. Try ro remember how far the two images on the map screen are apart from each other.
8. Exit map and go to inagme stereo options again. Now adjust the convergence ingame setting (top bar). This slilder will be in position quite to the left, but not the upmost left.
9. Switch back to map and look if the images are closer too each other.
10. Repeat 6. to 9. until only one map can be seen (via ingame setting of convergence only).
11. Press strg+f7 to save your work.
12. Freely adjust depth via emitter wheel -you have done it. Depth as you like and no more interface/map breaking.
Note: Convergence is set fix now, but for me at a very nice level.
Thanks bro!!!!!
That worked perfectly. Except I have to adjust my depth any time it loads but at least it is playable.
