The Witcher 2 in 3D Vision Official thread from NVIDIA

Anyone find a way to disable convergence lock? Either the 3D implementation in this game scales poorly with SLI or something with 3D + Ultra settings (minus supersampling) has the same issue, because with three 580s in 1080p, my framerate is 40-60 FPS. I know it's capped at 60 but I don't know why it should ever hit lower than that. Definitely not a vRAM issue as it's only using ~1GB. In 2D Surround mode at same settings I get 60-80 FPS.

Think I prefer playing in 2D Surround. 3D looks great but because of the locked convergence settings I can't set it just the way I like. Could just be me though - I find that in a number of games 3D seems amazing and then after 20 minutes I go back to 2D mode.

Yeah the instructions to do this are in this thread. I set mine to 0.5 with max depth. :)

Lord, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.

Can someone post their custom convergence settings and full ini file contents? There is no [Viewport] heading in the existing ini file and the custom settings do nothing for me.

e: Played around a bit. User.ini file does nothing, period. Same with editing any ini file that already exists. Option settings in launcher override everything. Not sure what the source document could be. I tried My Docs/Witcher 2 and edited the uber.ini, after setting the launcher to point to uber settings, but the game still used stock uber settings rather than what I inputted in there.

e2: Played around more. Now that there's a User.ini file that self-generated in the My Docs folder, the convergence settings work fine placed under [Viewport]. I wonder whether there's a bug with that file not showing up and/or doing anything under Surround because all I changed was to go to single monitor mode.

Also, confirming my hunch, there is either no scaling for 3-way SLI or subpar overall scaling with SLI. I can't seem to set my 3-way SLI system to use just two GPUs from software, but if I go into single GPU mode, 1080p 3D Ultra with ubersampling in the Dwarf town is 15 FPS. With three GPUs, it's 26 FPS. That's the kind of jump you should see from one card to two, not one card to three.

Can't test whether the scaling improves as the resolution goes to 1080p x 3 or do more analysis without physically pulling cards.

Unfortunate though. There is no substitute for ubersampling because nothing else gives you the anisotropic filtering plus parallax occlusion mapping.

To update everyone, I was able to run 2-way SLI to compare with 3-way, at 1080p anyway, and I can confirm that there is 0% scaling for 3-way SLI. :(

I run this one on 3D Surround (5960x1080) and i can easy see difference betweene 2-way and 3-way sli. I can not play smoothly on 2-way sli. I get 96-98% gpu usage during gameplay.

4Ghz CPU and 3-way sli gtx480 (870gpu / 2200mem).

Anyone here still getting weird shadows in 3D. I have updated drivers, patched to 2.0. It not horrible. It is just shadows on faces and shoulders sometimes seem off (not set). All the other shadows are fine. I run everything max except Uber. I get a decent 35-50 FPS. It is just enough to be annoying. Any help would be apreciated.

This is a known issue and occurs in two instances:
1. alt+tab while in game - just don't do it, otherwise you will have to load your latest save /wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />
2. switch 3d vision on after you have loaded your game - to avoid this, simply turn it on as soon as you start the game

Yeah, I found that in the posts but I don't do either of those things. It is weird, the ground and environment shadows are fine. Even most of the people shadows are good. It is almost like the shadows on some people due to sunlight or fire and such are giving me problems. I have adjusted every option in game. I dunno, I hate to say this but I may just play it non 3D with Uber on.
Thanks for helping though. /thanks.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':thanks:' />

I'm getting really poor 3D performance with a QUAD SLI dual GTX 590 machine with a 5GHz 2600k (stable as a rock.) Temps are good, but GPUs 3&4 don't get much load. I should be able to max this game out, right?

Done.

I'm maxxing the game out on a single 480. It puts my framerate into the teens but it's so pretty I couldn't care less. `Tis better to look good than to feel good!

Last I heard, 3D Vision will only use 2 card SLI unless you are doing multi-monitor for 3D Surround. Someone can correct me if this has changed recently.

When you alt+tab from witcher 2 and then back - just move a wheel on your emitter a bit - everything will get fixed.

I confirmed this last night. Great find! Makes things a lot simpler when you get those random glitches.

My convergence is still locked in the game. It doesn't matter what I set in user.ini for convergence - it's still wayyyyyyyyy too much popout and makes the game unplayable. Alt tabbing and adjusting depth fixes shadows, but that's it.

Using latest drivers and fully updated game. Any tricks? Changing convergence in-game doesn't work.
