Ok guys, this is what you've been waiting for, I've got a treat for you all just in time for the weekend. With the help of DarkStarSword, directional lighting/shadows are now fixed (or, in other words, environmental/outside lighting and shadows). As far as I have tested (which is the prologue and running around the first village), everything in terms of lighting and shadows are perfect!
Mind you, a great deal of the shaders were fixed by finding shaders with matching patterns to known issues, so I can't say for certain this is 100% yet, and that's why I'm releasing on here first in hopes that some of you can report back in areas further than I am (maybe I'll actually try PLAYING this game over the weekend for a change, and do some 'testing' of my own!!! ;) ), and if everything looks good by the end of the weekend I'll post it up on the blog.
Oh, and I've also consolidated DSS's cloth textures fix in this as well, so no additional need to do anything other than to uninstall any previous fix (delete old shaderoverride folder, d3d9.dll and d9settings.ini files), and then extract the archive to your folder that contains the ddda.exe. I've also included a 'wmvcore.dll' file that helps fix an issue with Win10 PC's loading videos which is entirely optional.
Download: http://www.mediafire.com/download/ypqblkv9qtyhbrm/DDDA_Fix_DJ-RK_v0_9.zip
P.S. Coincidentally, almost immediately after implementing the final fix, for some reason the brightness of my game somehow drastically reduced. Could be my projector lamp is dying a bit, but I was actually concerned that one of the shaders I changed may have caused it. If anyone else notices any change in their brightness levels (of even if you don't) I would greatly appreciate to know.
Thanks and enjoy!!!

Nice. Thanks man.. DDA is still my game of the year so far. Rarely had such a blast with a gaming, even if the 3D was not perfect. I will apply your fix now.

Thanks to all for your efforts on this one. Having played the chimera prologue fight, pre-fix in 3D, at times I simply had to guess what was going on, such were the state of the shadows initially. With shaders removed completely, even then it was a dramatic improvement, and I think that the graphical effects in this game hold up really well in my view. As yet I've not restarted the game again in order to see the shadows re-introduced in the prologue.
@ DJ-RK
By all means take by findings with a pinch of salt, as my setup is rather archaic, so things that don't appear right may be specific to my system, plus I'm also playing DDDA on Windows 8.0.
- NPC shadows now render really well, as do the cloth shadows.
- First town: Going beyond a certain radius from lamps and torches at night, shadows appear to break to screen depth in the left eye, but not the right. Once within that radius, everything's fine. Same thing happens outside when looking at the town's outer walls beyond a certain distance.
- Noticed some stuttering in town at times after your first fix, but that appears to have gone now.
- Again at night, looking up at the sky for instance, there appears to be a very subtle lighting effect cast around the player that appears at screen depth. I stress the word subtle, as it's certainly not a game breaker, but it's still noticeable.
- Player shadows still appear at screen depth, although I've not yet applied a fix to remove those, that was suggested earlier in this thread.
Even if nothing more was done on this fix, you've still improved the 3D experience immensely. As I say, it could well be my setup that hasn't fully realised the potential of your fix. Really appreciate your work.

It's appearance looked like it might be similar to a decal type effect, but I didn't look at it in detail.

By all means, all feedback is greatly appreciated, ESPECIALLY that which is descriptive and providing the proper terminology, makes my job much easier to look into these issues.

Yeah, I had experienced this once in my testing earlier today. I had made a quick adjustment prior to it happening which I thought led to it, so I closed the game, reverted it back and loaded it up again and didn't see it reoccur so I thought/hoped it was resolved, but I'll take a closer look based on DSS's suggestions above.

Sadly I get some drops in FPS in town on my system running it maxed at 1080P as well. :/

Haven't played at nighttime yet, but will definitely look for this specifically. Thanks!
Edit: Found it. Started hunting for it, and the wrapper crashed and I lost about 20 mins of collecting stuff around the village. Oh, the joys of fixing games! ;)

Really, I'm grateful to have had this opportunity to work on this and learn a LOT from doing so, having access to a previous fix on the same engine to use as a reference (yet, there being some new shaders and effects to learn to fix as well so that it wasn't just aa copy/paste affair), and great support from the community throughout.
So, without further ado, my sincerest thanks to Necropants for his donation of the game to the shared accounts, PirateGuyBrush for facilitating that and having the faith in me to give it a crack, mike_ar69 for his RE6 fix that I was able to adapt from, DarkStarSword for his time and expertise on the more challenging parts of this fix, and all of you for your patience and testing (and keep the feedback coming, particularly for anything that may still need tweaking).

Thanks to everyone for your work on this and especially you DJ-RK.
Some pretty significant issues on my install though.
(ignore this for now, it seems it might be to do with my ENB preset and the new version)
Dj-Rk I assume you are not using one of these?
So removed the enb and it Looks good but immediately I notice elements of the characters foot shadows are still at the wrong depth. Kind of hard to get a picture of it but I'll try. Looking into this further it appears to be due to light cast by certain Torch assets, this lighting around these torches doesn't look quite right either. Shouldn't take to long of playing the game to see what I mean.
Also this fix seems to make the game take an obscene amount of time to load up. Once I remove it, it's almost instant. Anyone else seeing this?

Thanks for the fix DJ-RK, it is great. About performance in 3D, I use 2x980ti SLI and I also get some fps drops, the game is not very well optimized (unlike Witcher 3 which runs butter smooth on my rig in 3D).
@Necropants
The first time the game load up after installing the fix, yes it is quite long. But it should occur once, then loading screens are okay.

Thanks again DJ-RK and DSS - Great fix !
The game really comes to life with the outdoor shadows enabled.
Only concern from here is the 2D foot shadow, couldn't it just be disabled ?
I don't think it has any connection to torchlights, as it appears in dayligt without any torches nearby !
Loading time is not worth mentioning here, only performance issue is some micro stutter when turning quickly arround. (GTX 980TI single)

In my case the load times do not improve after multiple game starts and transitions. It must take at least 2 minutes to first load the game save.
I have on the other hand no performance issues what so ever after its in game .. smooth as silk.
(theres no SLI support I can get working.)

Just to reaffirm that I haven't experienced ANY fps drop at all in that first town since your last update, so whatever you did really helped. With all of the graphical settings maxed out @ 1080p including shadows, it's all been 60fps so far.

Good find!, but I hope it doesn't cause you too much grief. That night time halo-like effect around the player is subtle enough to ignore, given just how much has already been corrected, but thanks for looking into it.

Unfortunately yes, that possible decal effect issue that DarkStarSword alluded to, occurs constantly night and day for me, and it occurs everywhere that I've been so far.
If I may add some further observations;-
- The water in the bay of that first town still develops shadows at screen depth at certain times. The expanse of water seen after leaving town, has no such problems in my own experience. It looks perfect.
- The light emanating from the tower, as seen from outside the walls of the first town, currently renders at screen depth. Inside the town, once again it's perfect.
- Sun glare is currently at screen depth
- NPC dialogue boxes are currently at screen depth.
Any further corrections that you yourself or others may wish to make, is all purely a bonus at this stage as this game is already looking pretty damned good.[/quote]

Purely for the sake of comparing and contrasting, I did a brief benchmark test on a single Titan with the following result;-
Frames, Time (ms), Min, Max, Avg
1979, 38218, 34, 61, 51.782
An even briefer benchmark test with dual SLI;-
Frames, Time (ms), Min, Max, Avg
660, 11016, 59, 61, 59.913
With a single Titan using max settings @ 1080p, although the average frame rate appears healthy enough, the minimum frame rate drops significantly and it's definitely noticable. I would have been sunk using only one card. SLI came up trumps.
Just wondering if you're using a single Titan X with DDDA, because if so, at least on the plus side that sounds rather impressive. Or, are you using Titan X's in SLI but they just aren't scaling properly, if at all, which doesn't say much for the current state of SLI in that case?

I have significant frame problems on a single Titan X. I thought it might be my older CPU, so I oc it to 4,1 with the result of a bit better framerate.

P.S. Coincidentally, almost immediately after implementing the final fix, for some reason the brightness of my game somehow drastically reduced. If anyone else notices any change in their brightness levels (of even if you don't) I would greatly appreciate to know.

I think I noticed this briefely in my few minutes in this game but then it disappeared.

Oh, the joys of fixing games! ;)
Now that does concern me. Are you saying that's 100% of the time, or under certain lighting conditions?
And thank you for all of your feedback!
Or 2 780's in SLI, either. o.0

@Necropants
The first time the game load up after installing the fix, yes it is quite long. But it should occur once, then loading screens are okay.

Upon further viewing, I should just correct myself immediately in pointing out that the shadow break can and does occur in either eye depending upon the viewer's position relative to the light cast by the source itself, be it a lamp or a torch.
Just as a caveat, I update neither my OS's or my driver at all, so my system's not a typical one. Hence my caution when providing feedback, but I'm more than happy to do so if it helps.
Pending any corrective work on shadow mapping as DarkStarSword suggested, did your fix hold on your own setup?
Any further corrections that you yourself or others may wish to make, is all purely a bonus at this stage as this game is already looking pretty damned good.
