3DTV Play vs. Tridef
I know this question has been raised quite a few times now but in most cases this question is asked more generally - 3D Vision vs. Tridef.- Since Sony released the HMZ line I am exclusively gaming with the HMZ which means I am also exclusively using 3DTV Play in terms of 3D Vision. Normally I didn’t touch a game that was not compatible with 3D Vision. With the release of AC Black Flag I tested Tridef for the first time and was very impressed by the results. Somehow 3D Vision remained my premium solution so I would only go the Tridef-way if a game was not 3D Vision compatible (maybe just because after years of use I am so familiar with 3D Vision). Quality-wise I cannot say that Tridef is lacking in any aspect. So I am really asking myself now if 3DTV Play really is the better solution so my preference would be justified. Since I even read some threads in which users say Tridef would be the better solution compared with 3DTV Play (some even say they were blown away by the Tridef 3D quality coming from 3DTV Play and trying Tridef for the first time) I would really like to know what you think is the better solution, 3DTV Play or Tridef.

Depends on the game. Some games work better with Tridef, others with 3DTV Play. There's no one-size-fits-all solution.

If I got you right pirate it is not possible to assume that a game that runs well and without any major problems on both solutions should always be played with 3DTV Play or Tridef, right!?

Pretty much. Tridef does have that nifty "dominant eye" feature though, for an FPS. EDIT: If you are running SLI though, Tridef doesn't support that. So 3D TV Play will give better performance.

I slightly prefer tridef to 3d vision. 3d vision and tridef are both awesome and go really well together, if you have a capable monitor/beamer. Tridef's weakest link is its performance, which is abysmal at times, ie when fps drop is more than half the fps in 2d. Second weakest link is that profiles rarely are "perfect". One or two things usually renders wrong. Like ac4 profile, which is totally playable and looks good enought for me, but some light sources look wrong at a distance and reflections are bit off. Shadows at some jungle scenes look wrong too. Errors are usually really small and wont interference or turn you off from playing a game in 3d imo. The biggest reason i prefer tridef over 3d vision is wider support for new releases. Even if the profiles arent available at launch. Also 1080p top bottom looks better on my 1080p projector than 720p 3dtv play. On 720p pj, 3dv or 3dtv play looks better.
