Dirt 3 keeps launching in 3D
I am having a problem with Dirt 3 on the PC. Whenever I start the game it launches in 3D mode. I do have Nvidia 3D Vision, but it is disabled. In fact it's not even hooked up to my computer. Regardless, Dirt 3 still launches in this mode. In the bottom right it will say "Rated Excellent, Press Ctrl+Shift+Insert to remove this message". I have uninstalled the game from Steam and re-downloaded it and it still keeps trying to launch in 3D mode. The screen has the 3D look as if it is waiting for 3D glasses. I do not have this problem with any other game.

Does anybody know what is going on and how I can fix this? I do have the latest drivers as well.

I have the exact same issue. I find the only way out is to NOT install the 3D vision drivers when in stalling a new drivers package from Nvidia. You'll have to do the custom install option in order to do this.

So you have to not install the 3D drivers in order to get 1 game to work, thus eliminating your ability to play other games in 3D?

I really hope that's not the only option here /blarg.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':/' />

Quick question:

If the overlay work the ctrl + T shortcut might work as well or if you connect the emitter you might be able to disable 3D after loading the game.

I'm under the assumption that it's a bug but that I have no experience with but still thought there might be a less intrusive workaround.

I once got stuck in 3D Discover mode in Starcraft 2 which caused me to loose the game.

You can use the shortcut to disable the 3D mode of Dirt 3 once the game starts up. But I haven't used 3D vision for months so I don't remember if you can just diable it on the fly without 3Dvision actually working.

My emitter is not plugged into my machine and I also have "Enable 3D" disabled in the Control Panel.

Ctrl+T is the shortcut? I will try this. D3 is the only title giving me trouble.

So the Ctrl+T solution works, but whenever I change my graphic settings and press ESC it reverts back to 3D mode. In addition to this I can't even use my wired 360 controller for some reason.

This is garbage.

Try using NVIDIA Inspector to put Dirt 3 on a different profile that disables 3D, like 3DMark for instance ... You'll have to delete the Dirt 3 profile(s) first ... on step B. Select Dirt 3, on step C. delete by clicking the red X(Delete Current Profile) Then to add it ... on step B. Select 3DMark and then locate the Dirt 3 exe on step C.

Try to use the regedit: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\NVIDIA Corporation\Global\Stereo3D StereoDefaultOn --> set to 0 --> All games will start @ 2D and ingame you can use Strg T to switch

I tried to modify the registry first but it didnt fix it initially. Using the nvidia inspector I was able to load it on to the 3dmark profile as suggested. The game still tried to load in 3d and the monitor looked like it was trying was in anaglyph mode or something, however lightboost was not forced on. Pressing Ctrl+T I was able to turn off the anaglyph effect. I thank Both of you for your help, I never even heard of nvidia inspector before and I def couldnt find any info on google about fixing this bug. Nvidia should seriously look into fixing this or codemaster / whoever is responsible. Thanks again.
