Guide: How to enable depth buffer/fake 3d in almost any DX11 game
2 / 3
Only the first one needs to be run as admin, [s]in fact the others don't work properly when run as admin ...[/s][edit:Apparently 'Run as Admin' doesn't like the @ symbol in the file name ... fixed the zipped Scripts accordingly]
Run '_AllowRunAsAdmin.bat' as Admin
then run either '_DepthHackEngine.bat' or '_DepthHackEngineLoop.bat'
after changing the line:
Set $MonitorSize=33
to 'equal to' or 'less than' the MonitorSize you're using, in your case you'd change it to 10(or 20? ... you said both?):
Set $MonitorSize=10
If the DepthHack scripts run properly they'll auto-minimize themselves, _DepthHackEngine.bat will close after it detects a single change(compatible with most games) and resets the registry value. _DepthHackEngineLoop will keep detecting/resetting in the background(might be needed for certain games/fake3d/CM).
I haven't played around much with fake3D/CM but the one game(FarCry3) I tried with it reset the registry value more than once(once with DX9(HelixMod) and twice with DX11 CM), so if the normal version(_DepthHackEngine.bat) doesn't work properly(quits too soon) then running the debug version could tell us how many times the registry setting was changed before it 'stuck', if there's a constant I can most likely work something out for it.
edit:unless they some how broke DepthHacks with CM now? Ignoring and/or setting 'MonitorSize' elsewhere? ... I swear there's a miserable little ****** at NVIDIA ... with one eye ... that hates us all ... sure would explain that logo! One green(=envy) eye! O.o

Thanx for the answer, but I don't see a point trying again, when I LOCKED the value manually and still nothing. I tried on may/june drivers running the script as administrator and normally - no change.
Can you please check if ANY game listens to the patch?
ANY. Install the latest drivers of the ones from may/june. Try ANY game. Fake 3D or not. Tell me it's working, I'll try to run the same game and report back.
I was struggling the whole night updating my monitor firmware to newer bug-free version (XL2411Z), I finally succeeded, but I'm exosted, I don't think I'll play The Crew. That's a bummer. I planned 10 hours, and I played 2 minutes. But still - there are many games, that I would like to see in fake 3D with proper separation (6-10cm instead of 1-2cm). Mostly - Trials Evolution and Trials Fusion. They are DX11, right?
I'll get back to the fight with the issue tomorrow.

I strongly advise against locking the Key and using any of my updated Scripts. I'd suggest unlocking any and all the Keys you manually locked and doing another(clean?) Driver install.

Do you use Windows 7 64bit? It's important, because it might be the culprit, as I many times had problems no one else had, and it turned out they're exclusive to Windows 8.1 This might be similar, and if it is indeed the reason, I'll be pissed, because I switched back to 7 just because of the issues with 3D Vision in 8.1
As to the install. Previously, as I wrote a few posts earlier, I unlocked the key, then I re-installed the driver again, doing the clean install. Everything resetted, keys changed to what they should be.
I installed W7 quite recently, I don't have any mods like Lightboost hack, I don't have anti-virus software turned on (I disabled "run at Windows startup" in Kaspersky Internet Security). I don't think it's anything I installed or done wrong.
I'll reinstall the darn Nvidia driver again. I'll even use Revo Uinstaller this time. I'll do exactly as you said, I can even record everything using some virtual camera software, so you can see I do everything "normally". I started tinkering with locking the permisions only after everything else failed.
I used a script. Then I did NOTHING, and right away I started regedit and looked at the value - no change.
Afterwards, I managed to cause the change by running the .bat file, but there was no effect.
BTW. Please tell me - If fake 3D works, and I'm using ACIV profile for The Crew beta, then the game itself cannot be the problem? I mean - maybe at some point I got the depth patch working, but this game doesn't support this or AC IV profile is wrong for this game?
I'd really appreciate if you downloaded a Trials Fusion demo. It's small, starts fast, you won't loose a lot of time.
Start uPlay, choose the tab with FREE games, choose Trials:Fusion trial.
I promise, if this game work on your comp, I won't rest until I'll achieve the same on mine.
Thanx.

From what I can see it's official ... Compatibility Mode is no longer 'compatible' with DepthHacks in the latest Driver releases(340+), it appears to be ignoring the MonitorSize Key/Value in the Registry.
I tested the Trials: Fusion demo on the ACIII & IV profiles and it was a no go on the 340.52 Drivers, the DepthHack does work on real 3D but just not on fake 3D, where it's needed the most. You can see this by toggling off CM(Ctrl+Alt+F11) ... the 3D Vision Driver dept strikes out yet again!
On my setup(65") it's locked down to about 1/2", which is utterly useless. So if you want to get anymore Depth out of Cluster****Mode you'll need to rollback to the 337.88 Drivers or they'll have to fix it ... Bahahahahaha, right? ... I can't really blame eqzitara for leaving this train-wreck of a scene, the community itself is top-notch but in the end we are at the mercy of incompetence ...

Thank you very much, TsaebehT.
I guess Nvidia goes for the record - to be the worst company ever.
If it's not cheating with GeForce FX, then it's killing 3D on CRT displays and XP later on. And if too much time had passed since then, let's make a horrible Installer that can't even install new drivers itself and having 5 different issues.. for over a year! A simple installer for God's sake!
Not enough? How about throwing all 3D Vision to the bin, giving a fake 3D instead. But another few month have passed.... so let's make that fake 3D totally useless, so no one plays 3D any more, because why not, "we're Nvidia, and f.. you".
I'm sorry for this tone, but TsaebehT reminded me how furious I was after reading the statement on Helixmod, about "having enough of this s..".
I hope VR will finally make 3D support a standard, and we can all forget about Nvidia. This is getting more and more insulting. I've bought 4 pairs of 3D Vision glasses, I recommended Nvidia cards because of 3D to many gamers in last few years. Now I feel like a sucker.

Yes, this is insulting.
Nvidia still pushes things like PhysX (it's nice thing, but not near comparabale to 3d Vision), making permanent advertising for it everywhere, creating crap like SHIELD (who god dam needs portable console on android when we have LOADS of this sh1t on market), but the ONLY things that really change gaming is dropped, because of lack of advertising and just not many ppl STILL know what is that

As much as I love 3D, you have to understand that Nvidia is a company that aims for profit. The 3D fad is passing by and so do the potential profits from 3D advertisements. Yes there are still people interested but that niche is very small.
The main reason for this is because many people hate movie theater 3D and assume gaming 3D is the same. I can't blame them, movie theater 3D is pretty bad compared to 3D Vision and definitely not really worth the extra price imo. Plus the high entrance price (unless using anaglyph but that just looks bad) prevents them from trying.
You can see the PhysX effects on any monitor which is why they're advertising it. And SHIELD is also another fad thing which they'll drop support for in a few years.
I do indeed hate where the 3D thing is going but it is what it is. Although I'm hoping oculus catches on so there's that sliver of a hope for me.

I love that the word "fake" is attached to depth buffer 3D so prominently on the forum via the title of this thread. Its a good thing, even for Nvidia, IMO :)

It might be just me but I found there seems to be more depth in this mode in the latest driver(s). I run pCars in CM and used a monitor size hack to get depth else it looked a bit flat. With the latest driver I no longer have the need for the hack and have plenty of depth (which has changed at least for this game using AC4 SP profile).

Does anyone know how to enable the advanced menu without doing it in the Nvidia control panel? I am trying to use it for anaglyph mode since that works in portrait mode

Nvidia still pushes things like PhysX (it's nice thing, but not near comparabale to 3d Vision), making permanent advertising for it everywhere, creating crap like SHIELD (who god dam needs portable console on android when we have LOADS of this sh1t on market), but the ONLY things that really change gaming is dropped, because of lack of advertising and just not many ppl STILL know what is that
The main reason for this is because many people hate movie theater 3D and assume gaming 3D is the same.
