Sorry if this has already been answered. I have a nice rig capable of running 3D vision. Games look amazing and I am having a tone of fun playing them in 3D. However, I would like to try a movie now.
My question is, do I have to buy a special player to watch Blu-ray in 3D. I know my drive supports it but I am not sure I have the software.
Also, when watching 3D movies. Do I have control over both depth and convergence, as I do with games. To me this option seems very important. I know how bad a game can look if both are not set correctly.
Guess it would help if I gave my system specs:
Windows 8 Pro
GTX680 4G Classified x2 (SLI)
i7-3960X 3.30 GHz OC 4.3
Asus P9X79 DELUXE
16 MB Corsair Vengeance
120 GB SSD

I've heard that all internal PC blueray players are 3D capable, but thats all ive heard. You do need extra software though. I've heard that Cyberlink corp has purposely caused their software that came with certain drives to give errors, providing encouragement to users who already own their software to upgrade, which they make very easy, like Steam makes buying games easy. My Cyberlink software doesn't work anymore either. That is why i recommend you don't give Cyberlink any money, but do feel free to use their software. :)

You do not mention your display?
Your choices for 3D Blu-ray playback from a BD ROM currently are Cyberlink, Arcsoft or Corel.
They all have their pluses and minuses.
They all suck when it comes to customer service via e-mail or phone.
The other option would be to rip the movie to your harddrive and then use a program like stereographic player to play it back.
I suggest you look at their respective forums

I think you may need a Blu-ray player software which can also play 3d movies. I am using Totalmedia theatre. Maybe you can have a try to see if it is what you are looking for.

.. And No, you cannot change depth and convergence in movies. movies are fixed in the position they were filmed or edited in. Nothing you can do about that. Games graphics are rendered real time on the fly, which is why you can play with depth/convergence at your leisure. Either a movie has good 3d or not, you really can't change that.
