I have a Sony XBR65x900a 4K Passive 3D television, and I'm considering using an EDID override to get 1080p60 3D on it from my living room PC. Currently, I use SBS 3D for Dolphin and Steam games that do SBS 3D (like Trine). It looks pretty good, but the drop in resolution can be apparent. This TV had a firmware upgrade to support HDMI 2.0 in one of the HDMI ports (#4), the rest I think remain 1.4b. I use an Onkyo TX-NR709 receiver, which only does 1.4 and does not passthrough 4K signals. I know that the Acer HR274H EDID override has been used to good success on several passive 3D tvs. I have some questions I'm hoping can be answered before I do this.
1. Is this reversible? Would it prevent me from switching to a 4K resolution if I felt the need? Is there an easy way to switch between the two EDIDs whenever I want?
2. If I upgrade my receiver to one that supports HDMI 2.0 and 4K passthrough, can I apply the EDID to the receiver so that I don't take up my single precious 2.0 input on the TV?
3. Since this is a 4K passive TV, I can expect full 1080P 3D with this EDID override, right? Blu-ray 3D movies are full 1080P on this set
4. Does this ACER EDID carry audio, or do I have to use a separate connection for that?
I've seen some topics here about true 4K 3D, but sadly I don't think my set supports that. Whenever I set it to 4K, the 3D menu is inaccessible, so I don't get SBS, OU, probably don't get 3D blu ray signal, I don't even have access to the 2D->3D conversion feature when set to 4K.

1. Edid override is reversible. However you could mod your edid to support 4K and interlaced.
The easiest way to switch between two edids is reapplying the Original/custom Edid in device manager and use driver restart provided by CRU. EDID can be applied also by CRU but sometimes I found it does not work properly.
2. You could find a receiver that passes ytrough properly 4k @60HZ YCbCr 4:4:4 and you will have to mod the receiver's edid. BUt I recomand you to use 2 separate HDMI cables. One for sound, one for Image.
3. With orihinal Acer Edid you will not have Full HD 3D, you will loose half the horizontal lines.
4. I think it does carry audio but as I said it would be better to use separate connections.
The mods you will find in the forum were made for and work with LG. Probably not working on your Sony but you could try.

You may want to try EDID that innuendo1231b created for my 65X900A (see https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/818183/3d-vision/gtx-970-4k-3d-vision-gaming-success-with-lgub850v-passive-tv-/post/4510299/#4510299, note that I erroneously referenced my 65X900A as 65A900A). I could not get this version to work, but I performed very limited testing since I migrated to LG 4K TVs at that time. Note that innuendo made another EDID version for me to try with the Sony TV, in a subsequent message.
