I tried all the dx renders, and I saw dx9 it's a no go (IMHO a good sign the game has some problem).
Maybe it's the latest patch (automatically installed by steam), I don't know.

Must be something wrong on your side...

Also running steam version with latest patch..

Only problems with sunrays here, that appear only in a short time ,in some levels...
No performance troubles of any kind !

On the new beta drivers everything seems a bit washed out, or is it just me?

The new patch today broke more things in 3D. I should have beat it before the first patch came out I guess.

Arioch, thanks for advise (almost update yesterday, a hunch told me not)

I'm playing with none patch applied and the only problems i found are (i'm on chapter 11):
- Sunrays in some levels (minor bug)
- The Boat sequence: water reflection and suns rays are all wrong (this sequence have to be rated "poor", sadly)

Great game by the way.
The intro sequence in Brazil (chapter 7 if i remember well) is awesome!!!

Don't forget people, if you've enabled file logging (or something) in windows on the drive where an exe is installed your can right click on that exe and in the details tab load a previous version. I've done this for max Payne (after steam screwing me over and changing my auto updating for skyrim). Now every time an update installs I revert back to the latest exe that worked well in max Payne. I believe it is 6.0.0.17. Give it a go.

Don't know about you guys, but when increasing depth I do get a lot of crosstalk, which I don't have on my panny with other games such as TW2 and Trine 2. It still looks good, but I wish I could get a bit more popout/depth.

When I finally get a day off I will try and play the game with an older .exe and finish it. I have no insterest in the multiplayer and it would be nice to get but the 30+GB this game takes up on my hard drive. It seems that every patch breaks something more in 3D. I guess they got our money now and can screw over the people playing in 3D.

When Steam recently 'patched' my MP3 I lost my complete progress by reverting to the old .exe. I would strongly advise to keep an copy of MP user data, which are stored somewhere in the documents and settings folder-Rockstar Games.

I was willing to get an Asus VG278H just for this game, but after seeing this mess, which is unlikely to get patched soon, I've put those plans on hold.
There are too many examples of 3D games deteriorating with every new patch unfortunately.

No wonder why people are pirating games, when they feel screwed after puchasing a game like in this case.

I also lost a couple of hours of my progress too after reverting to the older exe! I managed to restore another progress save awhich. I found in my documents folder but it was still bloody frustrating. You're right that after every new patch the support for 3d users gets worse. I feel so strongly about pirating but can totally understand more and more why people do it if we get screwed over like this.

I seemed to have stumbled upon a way to "fix" the 3D in the game with the latest patch to make it as good as when it launched - at least in my case. Today when I first loaded the game again and start playing the shadows and other things are broken in 3D. I then went into the graphics settings and change my shadow quality from very high to high and hit apply, it fixed everything in 3D just like the day it launched. I could even change it back to very high and it still works correctly. I exited the game a couple times and relaunched it to confirm it wasn't a one time fluke for me. Sure, it's a little annoying but at least i can keep the game up to date.

This reminds me a little of the Witcher 2 bug where shadows would break in 3D if you alt-tabbed out of the game. Decreasing and then increasing the depth slightly would fix that problem.

This is with the game up to date using the latest beta drivers, 304.48. I am also playing in DX11 with pretty much everything maxed out. From what I recall, only the DX11 version of the game had proper 3d support. The strange thing is after I did this the second time the 3D was fixed when the game was launched, and I didn't have to change any settings. Keep in mind some minor things like sun/god rays still look a little weird but it was that way at launch also. I wonder if it is just some bug that made it's way into the game and wasn't caught because it might not have been happening for everyone. I think this is worth a shot for those that want to play the game and not deal with the hassle of trying to keep an older version of the game's executable file.
