Can you view a 27" monitor up close comfortably?

I have a 27" 3D monitor and use it from about 1.5ft. I do not have eye strain from my monitor.

However, after using this monitor for some months, I've noticed a very minor inconvenience. The screen is actually so large, it takes some effort to look around at your HUD in a game when your HUD takes up the whole screen. It's mostly noticeable after you've played a game for a few hours. To look comfortably at the top right corner when I have been looking at the bottom left corner, I have to adjust my neck very slightly. Over time, having to actually move your head - even just a little bit - to look around the screen causes some very minor strain.

It's not a big deal, rarely enough for me to do more than take a 5 minute break. But I think it's worth pointing out.

If a game displays information at the extreme corners of your monitor (which is not unreasonable), they'll be about 25 inches apart from each other (give or take a few inches). If you sit 18 inches away from either of those corners, your eyes have to cover an angle of 54.25 degrees to view that information.

For perspective, on a 24" monitor at the same distance, your eyes cover about 3.5 degrees (actually, a little more) less distance. Might not seem like much, but it's a world of difference when you've been doing it for a couple hours.

I do that currently for 12 hours with no breaks and have no strain. I find you get used to it completely. I don't know if you read my post, but im currently using a 46" 3dtV as a monitor.

46" Samsung ES7500 3DTV (checkerboard, high FOV as desktop monitor, highly recommend!) - Metro 2033 3D PNG screens - Metro LL filter realism mod - Flugan's Deus Ex:HR Depth changers - Nvidia tech support online form - Nvidia support: 1-800-797-6530
