psychonauts not quite working
i bought Psychonauts on steam when it was $2, just got around to playing it again and figured it would be awesome in 3d

it is listed in the control panel as having a profile and being rated excellent, but when i turn 3d on it says the application is not rated.

when i set the separation and convergence the way i want the hud is completely off screen along with all the menus and the cinematic don't show when 3d is on, i was hoping the profile fixes these problems but i can't i get it to accept the fact that there is a profile, any ideas?

i am using CD v1.23 and 3d vision discover

thanks

My understanding is that profiles are based off the name of the .exe. So maybe if you can figure out what exe the profile is looking for, and find the exe of the game, and make a copy of it with the right name, it will work better? Just a guess.

i thought that too but the problem with steam games is you cannot rename exe. you get a steam could not be found error when you run them.

when i did some research i found that the regular retail edition of psychonauts use the same exe name as the steam version, Psychonauts.exe

yes, i can also confirm it doesn't seem to detect the game properly on retail version of the game. And there are some issues with 3d so I wouldn't call it excellent without a profile, maybe profile fixes all these things, but i can't get it to accept it either

Helix Mod provided a fix for Psychonauts. It might work with retail version of the game: http://helixmod.blogspot.com/2012/10/psychonauts.html It seems that for Steam version of Psychonauts, simply make a copy of psychonauts.exe, name it prototype.exe and run prototype.exe instead. This will fix the depth and coverage.

They never gave psychonauts a profile. I found the correct one. Prototype.exe Apparently there is an issue with my sky fix. Ill have to look into that at a later date. Game should play pretty well regardless.

Oh wow, thats bizzare. I thought the first user was crazy till I got someone who confirmed same issue. Rename it to aion.exe instead of prototype.exe apparently prototype.exe->my fix is somehow incompatible with this driver(no clue). I also rewrote the fix so redl it.

This is on sale atm at Steam $2.49 http://store.steampowered.com/app/3830/Psychonauts/ Great quirky fun, highly recommended for stereoscopic fans.
