Totally Lost New computer with Geforce and need help!
Hi, I am new to forums and to the gaming stuff. I just bought a new dell with a nvidia geforce 555M and 3GB (according to Dell tech support)...so I have 3d. I have an 11 year old nephew and 8 year old niece who want to play 3d games. I don't know where to begin??? I've done a good bit of video stuff but no 3d and no gaming. Can anyone reccomend a game or games and tell me how to go about getting it? I feel like a total idiot here from the little searching I've tried to do. The 11 yr old likes action/adventure but isn't ready for hardcore violence and the 8 year old isn't nearly ready for the stuff the 11 year old is. So I guess I'm really looking for 2 different games I can get right away to play over our Christmas holiday visit. I really appreciate any help as I am the resident computer geek in my family and I don't mind admitting I don't have a clue! Thanks so much, celtic7033

Its a beautiful game in 3D and perfect for 11 year olds.
Portal 2
Again, nice in 3D, brilliant gameplay and it is also a clever puzzle game. Although there is peril (you get shot at by turrets) etc, it is far from gratuitous. Lots of kids at my school loved it as will you.
Punch in these names into a search engine and check out the reviews :)
Enjoy 3D.

Hope I don't come across as patronising but are you definately good to go with regard to stereo 3D? Not just '3D' as in first person 3D? Did your laptop come with glasses?

Lord, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.

is beautiful in 3D. Should be ok for your 11 years old child.
It is a relative fast arcade-racing-game, so I'm not sure if it is the right thing for your 8 years old child.
Yeah Burnout Paradise is another good choice (defo suitable) but your car's tail light coronas (glow) are at the wrong depth. You can fix it by pushing out convergence but I find this seriously lessens the 3D effect. Which is a shame because apart from that, Burnout Paradise looks awesome!

Thank you so much for the suggestions. Yes my laptop came with 1 pair of nvidia 3d vision wireless glasses and I bought 2 more. It says stereoscopic? And my computer has the nvidia 3d vision logo. I was also told it has an IR emitter so I don't need one. I'm going to have to try it out in the next couple days so I know what's what. I don't suppose they have any Disney or Barbie games??? The 8 year old would love that!
Thanks again! /thumbup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> celtic7033
Addon: Dell XPS/Windows 7 64bit/2nd gen Core i7-2670QM with turbo boost to 3.1GHz/12GB, DDR3/nvidia GeForce GT 555M 3GB
I hope all that means I'm really set up for 3D gaming and viewing???

Simply try the Stereo3D Test-App in the Nvidia-Control-Panel under Stereoscopic Settings. Don't forget to charge the glasses with an USB-cable.

Yeah I'd agree Trine 2 would be a really nice game in 3D to show them, although you may need to coach them a bit on some of the puzzles. I would also recommend the two most recent Prince of Persia games, especially 2008. There are some "dark" moments with monsters and bosses, but nothing that couldn't get a G rating from Disney. The 2008 game is probably a bit more kid friendly as you basically fight oil slicks with a really cartoony/cel shaded look, the 2010 Forgotten Sands tries to be a bit more realistic but doesn't have anything more scary than cartoonish skeletons.
You can get both cheap on Amazon, also digital versions: http://www.amazon.com/Prince-Persia-Pc/dp/B001BAU9E0/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1324156235&sr=8-3
For all the games above, if you have 360 controllers (wired), then even better as they all support 360 controller perfectly. Wireless 360 controllers need a PC USB adapter however.
You can also check out Lego Star Wars. I have not personally tried it, but there are some good feedback points here: http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=192479
But ya you'll definitely get some points for coolest Uncle if you show up to Christmas with a few of these games in 3D. :)
