XBOX360 Call of D:Black ops 3D Video. This is what Console look like in 3D. Console gaming in 3D is
Pc has been the main solution to playing games in 3D for the past few years now, but with the success of Avatar it has Skyrocketed the interest towards 3D as a whole. Everything is either coming out in 3D or being converted into it. I love the interest towards 3D Movies but I have my gripes about the " 3D Converted" ones, but that's another story. It was really just a matter of time until consoles started to feel like the kid no-one invited to the party. That's when I think Sony and Microsoft decided to make there systems 3D Capable.
What if you already were a 3D gamer, and were thinking about making the transition onto console gaming in 3D. Games like Gran Turismo 5 and Call of Duty:Black ops are 3D capable but without a PS3/ XBOX360 and a 3D TV there was no way for you to see what they looked like ...Until now.
I'm very happy to announce that I am now able to show you what games on the XBOX360 and PS3 look like in 3D on your current 3D systems.!! This is huge for you 3D gamers trying to decide if you want to make the leap into 3D gaming on consoles.Unfortunately ,I don't have a PS3 but I'm hard at work trying to get one. My plan is to be able to create 3D Comparison videos of all the 3D solutions out there (PS3,XBOX360,PC) with the same game. This way if you have a PS3 but not an XBXO360 you will still be able to see what it looks like in 3D and make a comparison.

I was surprised by how little depth there was in the XBOX360 version of the game compared to its PC counterpart , this was sort of a draw back for me ( When I say depth, I mean actual separation between the left and the right eye, I'm not referring to the game itself just its 3D effect). I'm used to being able to completely control the depth and convergence in my games and setting up the 3D effect to my particular likings. It is definitely missed here but when thinking about how this was there first attempt to make the game playable in 3D, I have to give them credit. It's possible as more people become familiar with 3D and how it works future 3D capable games might allow you to adjust the 3D effect your self. either way they did a great job all around. The rectile is perfectly set up to line with your site, so you won't struggle trying to line up a shot to kill your enemy's and in game cut scenes transition very smoothly .
I will be working On a video shorty with both the XBOX360's Version and the PC in a Side by Side Video to try and give some perspective and show the differences in the 3D effects. This is great news for us 3D gamers curious about how the 3D effect looks on the XBOX360. .

Since when does the 360 output 3D?
Are you using a 3DTV to 'convert' the signal from 2D to 3D? If so, that's why it looked like crap.

If memory serves me right, the PS3 has been 3D ready since September/early October and the XBOX360 has been from mid October.
Why would you convert a 2D signal into 3D if your using a 3DTV? Could you explain what your asking me?
The video is being captured in 720P instead of 1080P, This might be why it doesn't look as sharp as your used to, it has a been a learning curve figuring out how to get the best picture, The new video I'm working on looks so much better. Looks like I'll be able to add the PS3 to the mix the next video to. I'll post it on my website after it gets updated.

To give the illusion of 3D from a 2D source, I didn't think the 360 was capable of outputting 3D so I assumed you were using a 3DTV to 'convert' it.

That and neither console has enough power to run games in 3D and keep the eye candy from some of the other examples I've seen.

To my knowledge, almost every console released in the last 15 years can output 3D, even though they don't officially support it.
All they need is for example to output side by side 3D, this is almost identical to outputting 2 player split-screen.
Xbox360 and PS3 have been outputting stereo games for at least a year an a half, the first game to output stereo3D was Invincible Tiger, a PSN/XBoxLive downloadable beat-them-all that worked in 3D on both platforms even when none of the consoles officially supported 3D. 6 months later cam Avatar the game which did exactly the same thing. The games did output 3D but since the consoles do not officially support it, the games cannot use hdmi1.4 3D signalling. The user needs to manually turn the 3D mode on and off in the TV menus.
6 months ago, Sony updated the PS3 firmware in order to add hdmi1.4 3D features through the PS3's hdmi1.3 output, which makes the PS3 officially 3D ready.
To my knowledge, Xbox 360 did not have such a firmware upgrade, I don't think it can be upgraded this way since it's hdmi output is older. It doesn't prevent it from playing stereo 3D games like before.
The amount of separation (depth effect) seems weak compared to 3D standards but it's logic : consoles are meant to be played on big living room TVs, the depth effect is stronger on bigger displays so in order to still provide an easy depth effect for everyone, the amount of separation needs to be reduced. Then once played on a small monitor it all looks shallow.
The same effect happens with most 3D BluRays. These movies were shots for the big screen, watch AVATAR on a 22" monitor and it looks completely flat. Watch the same movie on a 100" projector and everything gets great depth and volume again.

@ BlackSharfr. I was lucky enough to talk to a TV rep face to face last week and he showed me Avatar on a 52" Plasma . He showed me the scene in Avatar were Eywas little floating woodsprites cover Jake and then float away. On a "22 inch monitor the 3D effect was ok but nothing special, seeing it on the 52" Plasma was amazing !! What surprised me the most was there was more "POP Out" in that scene then anything I have ever watched in 3D , Be it in a movie or game. I was also shown a few other Movie clips and games , Black ops was naturally one of them . After seeing Avatar and being so blown away I was really exited about getting the chance to see Black ops in 3D on this huge 52" TV. Unfortunately, Even on a 52" Plasma with the latest Revision 2 glasses there was still very little separation. I obliviously knew it wasn't the TV because Avatar had the best 3D effect I Have ever seen on it. It was the game,it just had a low separation. So in a way I do agree with you but after actually seeing the game in 3D on 52" TV and seeing it still having a low separation makes me think the game developers are just being cautious right now. Don't get me wrong though, it looked great but it had very little Depth ,also not being able to control the separation was a big draw back. I greatly discussed this with him as well.

Recostar, can you please tell me how you get the xbox360 to output 3D? I've just got a panasonic 42" 3dTV and can't get the xbox to play in 3d.
You need a 3D TV that supports Side by Side mode, like any Samsungs 3D TV.
Currently only COD:B and Avatar have 3D on xbox
You must set your xbox to 720P before you run the game (upscaling and 3D is not a good combination)
Go to COD settings and there is an option to turn 3D ON. Do that and youll see the screen go double, 2 side by side images.
Then go to your TV's 3D setting and find option to turn on 3D with side by side mode.
On samsung its a 3D button on the remote control.

If memory serves me right, the PS3 has been 3D ready since September/early October and the XBOX360 has been from mid October.
I see, I wasn't aware the 360 could output 3D at all.

Why would you convert a 2D signal into 3D if your using a 3DTV? Could you explain what your asking me?
To give the illusion of 3D from a 2D source, I didn't think the 360 was capable of outputting 3D so I assumed you were using a 3DTV to 'convert' it.

The video is being captured in 720P instead of 1080P, This might be why it doesn't look as sharp as your used to, it has a been a learning curve figuring out how to get the best picture, The new video I'm working on looks so much better. That and neither console has enough power to run games in 3D and keep the eye candy from some of the other examples I've seen.
