I did read the thread. The conversation deteriorated into some form of under-masculine flattery.

I was voicing the futility of the 3D Vision consumer. That's all we can say.

Stop being an agent of a ****ty corporation.

I'm no fanboi of NVIDIAs' so if you want to actually help get 3D implemented stop being so mindless and "voice the futility" to the correct party which would be DICE/EA. The drivers are ready, BF3s engine is not - this has been confirmed by both parties.

I already did on every EA/DICE Battlelog forum I could find in nearly every thread I could find. This is not the point.

As a consumer of an extremely expensive product, I find it entirely irrelevant who I should voice my concerns to. Why doesn't some representative of Nvidia voice our concerns for us? It's simple math, really. I gave EA / DICE roughly $60 bucks, while most of us gave Nvidia roughly $300 (at least) to play this game in 3D. I spent a small fortune to play BF3 in 3D because I saw the "3D Vision Ready" stamp next to it in the Nvidia control panel. I know a lot of people spent even more than I did to play this in 3D. There was no word whatsoever before the release anywhere on the internet(mind you, this thread was started before the release) by any party involved that this was an 'error' in the driver profile and that the game was not 3D ready. As far as I'm concerned, I was fooled (along with countless other consumers) by way of omission and negligence by Nvidia, EA and DICE. All parties are guilty here.

That this thread disintegrated into some cute form of consumer / Developer bonding pissed me off, frankly. Not only are we left mostly in the dark about this, but the game is so ****ed up right now that implementing a working 3D build must be at the bottom of the list of the Patch.

We got ****ED and the only thing we can do is beg.

Hi All

I wanted to officially respond to this thread.

Johan Andersson, the rendering architect of DICE, was at GeForce LAN 6 at our keynote and talked about 3D support in Battlefield 3 / Frostbite 2 engine.

NVIDIA’s latest GeForce 285.62 drivers are ready to support 3D Vision for Battlefield 3. However The retail version of the game and day 1 patch does not have support for 3D.

We expect EA to add 3D support for Battlefield 3 in an upcoming patch but cannot disclose a date yet.

Please feel free to ask any questions and I can try to answer it.

Hi Andrew,

I see that you wrote this post in this thread after the game was already released. Considering the encrypted files for both the release build and the day one patch were in my hard drive the Friday before the release (a good 4 days), I'm curious why you didn't tell us that the game would not be supporting 3D Vision before the release. If you could please elaborate on this issue, I would appreciate it.

Thanks,

Luc

You bought and posted your first 3D Vision post on or around 27th November 2010 so to say you paid out just because Nvidia were advertising BF3 as being 3D Vision ready is a bit of an untruth. I paid far more than that all in all so far and have easily had my monies worth with the tons of other games I've played since getting my kit.

I understand you're frustration but stop being so f***ing rude and use some manners, and perhaps no more exagerated details!

if it makes you feel any better, unless you are buying bf3 for the SP you'll get owned online in 3d I reckon. At least you can bump it up to 120fps to give yourself an advantage so your money isn't totally wasted. Support will come they've said that until the world becomes more accepting of 3d it'll always come 2nd fiddle to getting the game released. Truth is its not a massive selling point of any game to the general public. I don't think bitching at those that are supporting 3d vision helps.

Sure are two camps on the go in this thread. Nvidia has an obligation to work with developers and game companies to get them to support 3D Vision. Lately, the do not seem to be successful. Of the premier games released in the past 8 months or so, few really had decent support for 3D Vision. This is not a sign of Nvidia achieving success with regard to convincing the game makers that 3D Vision is worth the effort. Without this success, 3D Vision will fade away, as did Betamax, HD etc. Those of us who listened to the promise and believed will be left reading about the successful technologies and wishing we had not spent $300 - $500 on the hype.
Nvidia seemed to be the way ahead, but, it does not appear to be living up to the promise. Of course we feel betrayed and frustrated. Nobody likes losers.

Hi

Let me try to provide some information on this thread since there is a lot of misunderstandings.

At GDC 2011, DICe presented that they are adding native 3D support to their Frostbite 2 engine, read more here http://battlefieldo.com/dice-developers-gdc-2011-presentations-online/. This means, the game engine is rendering 3D, not our auto driver. So any advertisements you have read about 3D support in BF3 require work from DICE.

In answer to your question why I didn't answer 3D questions until the game was released its because its EA/DICE's game and I have to respect their wishes to not provide information that isn't publicly available.

When the game was released, I felt it necessary to let the community know.

Believe me like everyone else, I am anticipating the patches availablility to enable 3D for everyone.

Just to be clear, you admittedly omitted information that would have hurt BF3 sales. But, after the game was released, you had no problem telling us something we already knew.

I feel like a fool.

What do you get out of defending a scam from a mega-corporation called 'Nvidia 3D Vision' anyway?

Hi Luc

Just to clarify again, I cannot comment on Non disclosure information that is property of DICE and Electronic Arts. I have insider knowledge that unless they allow me to publicly state, I am not allowed to disclose that information on these forums, to press, or to anyone.

I apologize that you fee misled in this situation, but that is simply not the case.

Thanks for the information, Andrew. Although it is a bit ambiguous and thus not incriminating, I can appreciate your attempt.

Clearly, though, we were scammed by one (or all) of the three parties.

Thanks for your time and efforts.

Well at least we know a patch is coming. It's good to know that three of the best graphic engines around, bf3, ue3 and crytek, are supporting 3d.
