Broken 3D bluray playback since 'fake' 3D driver introduced (unfixable)
8 / 10
I just tried another movie and it worked fine after I switched to HDMI checkerboard and then back to 3dtv play. I do have a Nvidia 3d vision IR emitter hooked up to my computer that I allows me to use 3dtv play free of charge.
Maybe you need one hooked up for this to work?
I've not tried it yet on my setup.
Seriuouster what resolution is your desktop at when playback a 3D film.
Did you set it to a 3D resolution first or 2D?
I hope this works.
I set it at 1080p 3D 24hz from the nvidia control panel. 3d obviously enabled. Then I started Powerdvd, started the movie, paused, changed to HDMI checkerboard and back to 3dTV play and then resumed watching. My TV is a Panasonic VT50.

That's good to know. I have a Panasonic st30 50" TV and a Panasonic PTAT6000e projector and both have the same problem. I'll try it later.
Killinspree did you have windows set to a 3D res when you tried it?

i have both...vt50 and vt60, tried using both tv and with both kind of bluetooth glasses (not IR). Same results
unfortunatly i dont own a 3d vision kit to try... and i won't and will never buy one!! grrr
Gib,
I tried selecting 3D resolution manually first attempt.
Then i just let it switch automatically while starting the playback
sorry for my engl"ish"... :þ

ERRATA CORRIGE
i retire what i said...maybe i just needed to reboot my pc after installed this 3dTVplay..
i did more test and actually it worked...
and yes Gibson, as you said, i think you definetly have to start in 3Dresolution already set...
this is insane trick...but somehow seems working...i have to do more test..
So are you telling me, i must buy 3Dplay now??? only to be able to switch into cheackerboarder mode -_-v OMG i have no words...and thats a stupid bug nVidia could fix in 1 hour...i guess they just dont give a shit about it.
btw...tnx seriouser for this weird workaround
gib, give us you feedback when youll be able to try.

Hi guys,
I've got the same problem. GTX 970 and messed up 3D in PowerDVD. I use integrated Intel HD 4600 on my CPU if I want to watch a movie in 3D. Pretty sad that after buying quite an expensive graphic card you have to switch to on board graphics to play a movie...

i've a sandy bridge 2600k but unfortunatly running on a P67 chipset so i cant use my cpu as apu and yes, its sad...using an HD4000 instead of your 970... =(
I was trying with the Seriouser's trick, It helps a lot... fixed blinks and prevents epilepsy collapse. But im still unable to get a good 3D image...too much crosstalk/ghosting, my old card never had this bad 3D , it had far away better 3D (now i can only compare to my stand alone player) im honestly thinking about giving up...
on my MSI box its written in big capital letters "JUST GAME"
even their slogan is "Means to be played"
I think with this cards you must only play...nothing more... -_-v

It works perfectly for me! Awesome, can't thank you enough!
Gets rid of the transition swipe across the screen and the motion is back to normal!
Way to go mate. Only tried it with one film, will try more!
I hope nvidia is taking note of this!
Excellent find!

Hahaha wouldn't hold your breath.
I've tried it with 3D bluray ISO and 720p SBS mkv.
All works fine.
You have to do the trick every time you load a new film even if powerdvd is still open.
Windows is still messed up though. Just seems to work with powerdvd.

In the release notes for WHQL driver 344.75 released today it does list the following known issues
Windows 8.1 Issues
[3DVision]: While a stereoscopic 3D video with stereoscopic 3D enabled is played, the monitor refresh rate switches to 60 Hz after changing the resolution using the Windows control panel. [1314811]
With a 3DTV connected and the resolution set to an HD3D resolution through the NVIDIA Control Panel, the display flickers constantly after installing the driver via INF over driver version 320.49. [1315116]
[Surround][GeForce GTX 780 Ti 3x]: HDCP error occurs while playing Blu-ray disc in Surround mode when accessory display is attached. [1429829]
