Hey guys,
Relatively new to 3D Vision and am really liking what I'm seeing so far - mostly with Batman series...
But I've got the itch to revisit Skyrim, which I never finished playing through in 2D and give it another go in 3D. What are your thoughts about this game as a 3D title - good, bad, ugly?
With all the mods that are out there (2d) and for fixing 3D issues (shadows mostly?) I'm not sure what the best route is for the best overall 3D experience.
Could someone give me their recommendation for what mods to install - I play Skyrim via Steam, if that matters.
Thanks in advance.
UPDATE:
So I went nuts and reworked Skyrim with the Skyrim Beautification Project, which adds something like 200 mods, including ENB. I added the helix fix and it appears to be working fine, other than killing my FPS - due to all the mods. I'll post a gallery and specs later if anyone's interested - it's pretty amazing.

Bookmark this site, it should be your first port of call for playing any game in 3d.

Finally, most people here are pretty helpful.
As for Skyrim, I've not tried it in 3d - but there's a fix for it, and it's probably the best starting point. It's often worth reading the comments on the fix pages, too.

Hi and welcome to 3D!
For anything 3D Vision you first need this:
http://helixmod.blogspot.com
Thanks to eqzitara for the recent link to the other game fixes from other contributors, to keep everything together.
Then, hold on to your shorts! Skyrim in 3D Vision is probably the best 3D experience out there, certainly if you also consider the game not only the visuals. Praise Helix for his awesome fix!
I played with some atmosphere enhancing mods, such as Climates of Tamriel, Skyrim Flora Overhaul, Hypotermia, Frostfall, Cloaks of Skyrim/Winter is coming etc. Go to Skyrim Nexus and you will generaly see the ones worth installing, by their high number of likes/downloads.
I had plenty of little mods that changed clothing textures, etc, and if you're a mage-type there are a couple of mods totally rehauling magic, it's freaky.
It's also very easy to get carried away, so install a few then see how it looks like. Maybe start from here:
http://www.pcgamer.com/2012/10/28/the-25-best-skyrim-mods-2/
For the ultimate Skyrim experience, I used a mod called Requiem. Since you're replaying Skyrim, maybe you want to give yourself a little taste of what Skyrim would have been like, if it wasn"t designed for the console crowd or for a more casual userbase to maximise profits.
The only little issues you will encounter in 3D is the clouds/sky texture might sometimes be at the wrong depth, because some of these weather mods add sky textures to the base game and those textures are not accounted for in the 3D fixes.
I never bothered to find out exactly what mod was causing it, and it doesn't happen too often, mostly during weather/time of day transitions I think.
Happy gaming!

I'm a Skyrim 3D user and a Skyrim modder. My weather and water mods are 100% optimized for 3D stereo and keep your framerate as if you don't use mods. Since framerate is one of the most important thing for 3D users, you could give it a try. As a bonus, these mods will give a fresh and realistic looking to your game...

Keep in mind you still need the Helix fix as said in the PirateguyBrush post.

Thanks - installed Helix fix for shadows :-) However, the wheel on my emitter no longer works for depth (key commands let me raise to 100% but I don't see a real time difference like I do with other games). Also, can seem to mess with convergence since the advanced key mappings are duplicated in the game... will have to experiment with that.
Overall graphics look a bit too dated so I'll look about and experiment with user mods for this - please recommend any you use and know work well with 3D.
thx!!!

Greetings,
When it comes to Skyrim there are a number of options available to you which affords different amounts of end result quality.
Skyrim looked pretty decent when released except for a number of easily ignored issues. Namely water and water reflections, the sky and objects in the sky. There was a "Dorkit" fix for some (or all of) these issues. In later patches of Skyrim there was introduced a different way of creating shadows which if not disabled pretty much broke playing the game in S3D. (there's an config file fix for it) Later a Helix and Skyrim.nexus fixes were introduced which fix many if not all of these issues.
I logged a few hundred hours of playtime with just the config file option enabled. There's plenty of high resolution texture pack's available which can help enhance the visuals as well as the popular "ENB" and "SweetFX" series of post processing filters.
Yes some of the key mappings are duplicated in the game however in most cases (IE depth and convergence) if the keys are held (sometimes >= ~30seconds when it comes to convergence) you should see the convergence change.
Happy S3D gaming!

Thanks - holding down the convergence keys did the trick and I think I've got it set where I like it now. Pretty cool!
I'm using an Acer projector and 80 inch screen - only bummer is limited to 720p 3D, which is part of the reason why the graphics are lackluster, as I'm used to 1080p for 2D gaming. But the tradeoff seems well worth it.
One more question: With my setup, it seems the image is tilted a bit when I crank convergence up to just start to get pop-out effects -- it's like the head and shoulders of characters come out of the screen while the rest of them are still in depth, if that makes sense. Probably more fiddlin' with the projector screen throw I suppose.

Here is a list of games that the forum dwellers have chosen as the best in 3D vision. Skyrim is #2 on the list. You really can't go wrong with anything on the list, or the gamelist at HelixMod.

Mainly you need the HelixMod fix, and anything else from the nexus that you like the look of.
In my opinion, the biggest bummer with 3DVision Skyrim is that the ENBseries mods, almost certainly the greatest graphical enhancement you can apply to Skyrim, break the water in the game in S3D when used with the HelixMod fix. If you can handle the water being busted then go for it, but my recommendation would be to seek out ENB-like mods which don't actually use ENB. None of them will really quite achieve what ENB does, but good texture, mesh, and climate mods, along with a good SweetFX preset will get you a pretty amazing experience with the HelixMod fix and 3DVision.
