I have been unable to make the menus work very well at all once the HUD icons are moved to depth. It's worse in all the menus with this approach as well. But, you might only care about the HUD icons, so let me go ahead and put together a build with what I've got as an alternate for people who don't mind worse menus as a tradeoff for better HUD icons.

Thank-you very much! I am defo one of those dudes you described. Ctrl + T is simple enough to hit when you get into menus right?
Does anyone know if this fix works on Windows 8.1?
If you like, you can help out the community by giving it a try and letting us know one way or the other. (assuming you have the game of course) As far as I know, this should work on 8.1 here. The 3Dmigoto wrapper itself runs on 8.1 for the most part, we know for sure it works fine on some other games like AC4. Dragon Age is a crashfest, and looking at the logs I don't think the wrapper itself is crashing there. I will promise to take a look at this late today. I'll get it working in some state for the weekend, but might be crufty.

Seemed to work fine on 8.1, played the intro and ran around in the first open area a little bit. newest whql driver and single gtx980. Both 3dtvplay and 3d vision worked perfectly.

@bo3b. Awesome! Thanks! Crufty? The screenshot you posted earlier is awesome. Perfect even. (Unless it breaks something out-of-screenshot during gameplay?) I have been playing with the fix and it is magic anyway. Loving the game too. Forgive my ignorance and cheek, not to mention asking you to bypass your professional wherewithal, would it be possible to 'just' upload what you were using as an optional version of the fix please? I know you were worried about the push out icons causing the menus to be messy but can't people just turn off the 3D when using menus if they want this option? Thanks! Talion's slain family would be very grateful too. ;)

@andysonofbob: Sorry, I couldn't upload what I had shown earlier, because I'd continued with the fix and broke some other things while doing that, so I didn't actually have that anymore. I made a new working branch for this experimental UI, so I can avoid that problem. (I like to check absolutely everything into source control. But didn't want to bust up the main release. Source control helps me avoid losing time or making mistakes like this.) In any case, I took a look and removed some of the obvious problems. Here is a version that might mostly work. https://github.com/bo3b/3Dmigoto/releases/download/0.99.4-beta/3Dmigoto-Mordor-0.99.20.zip This version puts all the HUD at full depth, including the minimap and the crosshair and the other icons. The mini-map cutout mechanism didn't work at all, so I removed that for now. I played this for an hour or two, OK, three, and it looks pretty good. There are some short time glow effects that are clearly off, but overall this might be better than our original setup. The UI in the menus is actually not bad, but there are some funky parts that switch depth while idling. No idea what's up with that. If the Map or the menus are too annoying and weird, use F2. This version includes a convergence override that sets depth=0, convergence=0 on F2. So F2 when in, F2 when out. If the full depth seems too much, or you want to experiment, set the iniParam x= to some other percentage. Let me know if you have any trouble with it.

It's awesome! So much better. It feels better if you ask me. I have set the iniParam x= to 0.65% That seems to be the sweet spot for me with my convergence. :) If you are still on it: ;) That short term glow effect you mention, which is used to highlight effects e.g. when you have 8+ hits. Is it the same as the one used to highlight the selected menu? If so, could it be turned off. It seems superfluous to me?

*edit nevermind found it* I held off playing this cause I cant stand hud icons being at screen depth. (actually wish you could just turn off the majority of the HUD elements damn console ports.) This looks great and I can start playing but I think I need to adjust that parameter also

It just looks UnNaTUraL to me.
