Hi As the title says ive only 1 eye.well i still have two eyes but blind in my right since birth and now my brain has actually decided that it will never work again.im in my 30's.
WHat i need to know is can i use the nvidia 3D glass's with the 120mhz monitor and still get the effect of 3d with only 1 eye..I know that the old red blue paper 3D glasses didnt work for me but im wanting to know if they do work with these,,
Can someone test them with having one eye shut or a patch over and let me know.i would love to buy these.

i am not 100% sure mostly because I havent thought of that situation before.
Heres a quote from an article that kind of explains how the technology works. After reading this I dont believe it would work for you.
Quote:
The GeForce 3D Vision glasses work by blocking the light to alternating eyes. Each lens is essentially a monochrome LCD display that can be turned on or off. When off, light can pass though; when on, it cannot. This effect allows only certain frames in a game to be viewed by each eye, and each alternating frame is slightly offset, which in turn is perceived by our brains as a 3D image. Much in the same way our eyes actually work. We should note that the glasses provide better viewing angles and resolution than most passive glasses, through the use of higher-quality optics.

Well, the stereoscopic sensation of "real" 3D-images by using nvidias 3D vision bases on the principle, that our brain creates 3-dimensional images out of two images brought to the brain with the help of 2 sligthly separated eyes.
So no, you will not be able to see 3-dimensional images by the means of 3D-Vision.

Okay, maybe not. Want some chocolate? I'm swiss! :-P
I say Nay. You see the 3D works in that it displays two different pictures for the eyes and thus the 3D effect all occur in your brain. Let me rephrase that. Humans have two eyes to be better in judging the distance to objects. If you pick up an object and hold it in front of your face, your left eye will see the object as positioned to the right and your right eye will see the object by an equally large distance positioned to the left. Hence the brain, which presumably knows where the eyes are located on your face, can add two and two together and draw the conclusion that the object must be rather close. If you were to throw this object away, then the two different pictures the left and the right eye sees will merge together and thus the brain can again draw a conclusion that the object is moving away with an increased gap between us and the object.
The Nvidia driver will render a picture on your display as the left eye would have seen it if you were in the game. At the same time, the syncronized shutter glasses will display a pitch black picture (to be more exact, they will not display anything at all. The lens will close!) for your right eye. Now in the next cycle the tables will have turned. The driver will display a picture for your right eye as the right eye would have seen it if you were in the game and instead display a pitch black picture for the left eye. This cycle repeat itself 120 times a second, just way to fast for any old brain to figure out what is really going on. The effect are a full blown 3D picture, as created by your brain.
So, what I'm trying to say is that the 3D Vision kit won't work for you. You will only get a right eyed view from the game. If you were to put on the glasses either way you would in effect lower the Hertz on your monitor to 60 Hz since the cycle as explained alternates between two different pictures (that holds valid for all users of the glasses).
I'm eager to know, how do you judge distance with only one eye? What I've just told you is pure theoretical knowledge as told to me by others. I'm keen to know how it really works

well that explains it..thanx guys, thankyou very much..Ive been blind since birth so im used to it.Its normal to me and docs said if i was to gain my sight i would be pissed for a few years.lol or rather the effects of been pissed..doesnt seem a bad idea does it.. /pirate.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':pirate:' /> I do judge distance really well but thats cos im used to it.But i do struggle if say i was to throw a ball into a bucket.
But never mind..I just hope while im alive that 3D doesnt become mainstream and that 2D TV and games will be here for a long time.

It will need 2 eyes.
However, now i am confused because if i close 1 eye my depth perception is still fine, albeit not QUITE as good as 2 eyes but i can still judge distances and dont keep walking into things. The brain is one clever peice of kit

You should consider trying lucid dreaming, & you'll be able to do more than see with both eyes !
Full control of ones dreaming body is no comparison for any holodeck.
