FPS drop when 3d vision is enabled, but toggled off via emitter button.
Greetings all. Long time lurker, first time poster. I have a question regarding a situation some of you may have experienced. During a benchmarking session today, using Heaven DX11 demo, I recorded fps numbers for both 3d vision enabled, and 3d vision disabled (by clicking the button on my IR emitter). There was the expected difference in fps. However, I then ran a benchmark with 3d vision entirely disabled at the nvidia control panel level, and picked up an additional 10fps over the run with 3d vision toggled off via the emitter. I tested this 3 times, and experienced similar results. Why might this be? When 3d vision is toggled off via the emitter, shouldn't it function as if 3d vision is disabled via the control panel? This is a bit annoying because some games I don't use 3d vision, and enjoyed toggling it off easily via the emitter...but really don't want to be losing unnecessary frames. Thoughts? Causes? Fixes? Bit about the system for the curious. i5 3750k @4.5 8 gigs DDR3 1600 EVGA GTX 670 4gb Asus Z77 mobo, PNY SSD.

Hi. My understanding is when 3d vision is toggled off via the emitter, it's still running in 3d mode but with zero depth and convergence. If you want to play without 3d the best way is to disable it in the control panel.

@OP: your observations are correct. you have to disable it for full performance. http://3dvision-blog.com/4673-3d-vision-toggler-for-easier-enabling-and-disabling-of-3d-vision/

What if you never use the button on the emitter? Mine just hangs out of the back of the PC and I never actually use it for anything, other than passing the nVidia security checkpoints. I have it set to go into 3D mode when the game starts and then just use ctrl+T to toggle it ... you know if I ever actually wanted to turn it off. Which usually only ever happens when I get too comfortable playing in 3D just to shock myself back into how much better 3D really is.
