DLP Firmware not updating
I haven't been able to complete the 3d Vision setup wizard. I keep getting the message that I need to update the firmware on my Mitsubishi DLP. It's a 65736.

I've copied and pasted the contents of the TVFirmware folder on my setup CD on three different USB drives (8 files, as well as the UI folder which contains more folders/files). I've made sure each drive has been formatted to FAT32. I've followed the given instructions, but I'm still getting the same message in the setup wizard to update my tv's firmware. I didn't check the firmware version on my tv before the first few times I tried this, but, FWIW, it currently displays version 10.02.

What am I missing? Do none of these USB drives fit whatever requirements there are to work for this process? I've used a free one, an old one, and a brand new one. Is there a way to bypass this part in the setup wizard? My model (65736) is an older one that only has HDMI 1.3, but from what I understand, this shouldn't keep me from getting this to work.

Any help would be wonderful. I'm not really sure what else to do to get this to work. Again, its a Mitsubishi 65736, and it currently is using firmware version 10.02....

Not an answer to your problem, but whatever you do, don't do anything that will change your HDMI1.3 inputs to HDMI1.4. There is no 3D Vision support for HDMI1.4 after cd1.33, so after that rev it won't invoke 3D Vision software if an HDMI1.4 input is detected. Another guy had an automatic update from Mits which updated his 1.3 inputs to 1.4. It did so without his permission or knowledge. 3D Vision never worked after that.
Since your set should work unconditionally with 3D Vision, I'd look elsewhere for your problem.

I hope I don't have to deal with that. From what I was able to gather, though, it seems my tv is old enough that said firmware update wouldn't affect my hdmi ports.

I was able to get further into the setup process by disconnecting my tv from my pc. Doing that, I was able to actually get to a point where I could select the "Generic DLP" setup option, but not much else. Does anybody know if it is possible to get everything set up, aside from actually connecting my tv? Why would I even need to have my tv connected in order to tell my PC to output the necessary checkerboard format?

To answer this, I would need to know what display device is connected to your computer while doing setup.

Just a 5 year old lcd monitor. This process has become much more trying than expected, and I didn't expect it to be easy.

Hi

Let me give you a few hints about updating the Mitsubishi DLP firmware since I've done it a few times.

First, make sure you read through our FAQ on it here http://nvidia.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/nvidia.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=2378

Second, the firmware update only applies to the HDMI connectors on the back of the TV, not the front. http://nvidia.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/nvidia.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=2631

Lastly, I hve found that the USB stick itself tends to be the problem. I have found that older, slower sticks work better.

When all else fails contact Mitsubishi support and they will ship you a stick to do it yourself.

I was using the front port, so that was indeed the problem. I was logging in to report that I had found the solution about an hour ago, but now that you've responded, nobody will believe me. My only argument now is that nobody could possibly spend less than 15 minutes gawking at those 3D images that pop up as soon as you finish setting everything up.

Thanks for the response, Andrew!
