3D Vision on Linux? Can i use 3D vision in own linux programs? Is there an API for using?
Hi,

i'd like to use 3D Vision in own programs on Linux.
In the FAQ i did not find any reference to neither using it in own programs nor using it on Linux.

I'd like to write a simple program to display 3D still images (i've got the left and the right image), nothing complex.

Best regards,
Torsten.

Hello,

thanks for your hints, thanks a lot.

So just for clarification, to display 3D content using OpenGL on Linux i just load images into the back_left and back_right buffer and then switch them to front? Nothing more for still images?

I use an Asus GTX 260 on Linux, driver is still 185.xxx
Will the driver do everything else to drive the 3D Vision Glasses? Is there any other API call that i need to do?

Is there anything i need to enable in xorg.conf?

I've read that 3D Vision is connected to the PC via USB, is there anything else i need to configure in the system to use them (as they are not connected directly to the graphics card)?

Sorry for all the questions but before spending the money i'd like to be more sure that it will work...

I don't have a supported display, but i only want to view still images. Will that work or is there a reason why i need 120 Hz capable monitors, even for still images? Limited display quality (to some degree) would be ok.

Thanks for any hints,
Torsten.

You will know that 3d vision does not work with linux for the time being it is still windows only .
To write , to use a opengl stereo software under linux you need a quadro card not a geforce a a 3d display other than a geforce 3d vision;
