Will Windows 7 be supported? Why is my 8800GTX failing?
So two questions before I purchase the bundle. I would hate to drop $600 on something that won't be supported in 10 months when Windows 7 is released. Is there any official Windows 7 word from Nvidia? I was running the beta prior to my recent upgrade and it ran very well, so I'll probably be an early adopter.
Also, when I run the "Are you 3D ready?" Active X application it says on the first screen that only my monitor fails on the minimum tab (no surprise there) but on the recommended tab it shows my video card as failing as well, without a specific reason just saying that it doesn't meet the recommended:
Video Card
Recommended: GeForce 8800 GTX or above, GeForce 9800 GT or above, or GeForce GTX 260 or better.
You Have: NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTX (GeForce 8800 GTX)
FAIL: Sorry, your video card does not meet this minimum requirement to be GeForce 3D Vision-Ready. Upgrade your video card to be fully compatible with GeForce 3D Vision and experience fully immersive 3D gaming. Click the 'We Recommend' button to see a list of GeForce 3D Vision-Ready GPUs.
Video Card Features - Minimum attributes of your Video Card Video RAM: Required - 512 MB , You have - 2.7 GB
Video HW Transform & Lighting: Required - Yes , You have - Yes
So is it supported or not?
My system currently:
Vista x64 Ultimate
Intel Core i7 920
6GB Corsair Dominator DDR3 Memory
150GB Velociraptor HD
EVGA Nvidia 8800GTX GPU
I have a 19" Sony monitor and a 22" Viewsonic, I was going to replace the 19" and make the Samsung the primary monitor.

First on Win7, yes we intend to support it. We havent tested it yet to figure out all the bugs and quirks, but its our goal to support it.
Second regarding your GPU, do you know your device ID of your GPU? It could be that we dont have that card properly recognized by the application. I'm guessing yours should be supported.

I have no idea how to determine the device ID. In device manager under details I don't see a Device ID. under description it says Nvidia GeForce 8800 GTX but I don't think that's what you're looking for.
I think that in the software it's showing up as a "fail" is because it's under the recommended system requirements. So while I meet the minimum, I don't meet the recommended ?

The way that tool works we do define the recommended GPU. Your GPU is likely going to be fine for most games. We only recommend higher since many of the new titles require faster and faster GPUs.

I just finished Fallout 3, I'm playing Left 4 Dead right now and later I was going to check out Far Cry 2. I also play battlefield 2, 2142, quake wars, and world of warcraft on occasion. So far everything has run really well on my system with high settings (though not max I don't think) and I don't notice any slow downs.

I think you should be fine with an 8800 GTX with 3D Vision.

Hi

You probably will be able to use that video card to run those applications. Keep in mind that running Nvidia's 3d vision will cut your frame rates in 1/2 of what they normally run. (It forces 120 FPS) through compatible display. Visit Tomshardware, they have done an extensive review with several games. You will notice they used a 280 gtx and see that with 3d enabled frame rates are still low. Are you willing to deal with slower Frame rates to enjoy the 3d experience? That's all on your opinion. The 3d experience is great, but I have a 295 gtx and I know that within the next year I will need to add another card to use Quad Sli to get the maximum out of my games!!!!

Thanks.

I have no idea how to determine the device ID. In device manager under details I don't see a Device ID. under description it says Nvidia GeForce 8800 GTX but I don't think that's what you're looking for.
