Headtracking with Normal WebCam Imagine combining this with Nvidia 3D Vision
You don't need to hack a Wii Remote and Sensor Bar to get Headtracking, and you don't need to use a Kinect Sensor or whatever.
Imagine what kinds of applications we could get by combining Headtracking with Nvidia 3D Vision.

Now all we need is for somebody to use FaceAPI to make a Head-Tracking Enabled 3D Vision-Ready Game, or since Half-Life 2 uses the same engine as Portal 2, it might already be 3D Vision Compatible. Torben Sko created a multplayter Half-Life 2 mod known as FaceOff that uses FaceAPI for Headtracking.
Anyway, combining Headtracking (with a normal WebCam) and 3D Vision would be amazing, and even better if someone made a Stereoscopic WebCam

Off Topic But Related: What do you think would happen if I added multiple WebCams to a 3D Vision Surround Setup?

Thats pretty cool, but I would recommend you have a look at this instead
Theirs videos on You Tube as well just do a search for 'trackir'

FaceAPI woks with a normal WebCam, no special hardware is needed. Judging by the stuff I saw on the website, TrackIR looks like it needs a special gaming prehipheral.

Yes, that would be really cool. I tried some experiments using web-cam tracking myself (w/ OpenCV) but the performance hit was too great to be used in games. I was probably doing something wrong, but it worked in principle. The DDD drivers had a beta head-tracking mode, but the support was pretty shabby. For a second, it would almost work but it never quite felt right. But if something like this was support on games that would be awesome. I will look into if I could possibly do this, but I am a busy guy.

Try using FaecAPI, it can also track your head on the Z Axis, not jjust the Y and X Axis, and it can handle very rapid head movements over a large interaction space. It can even handle contortions of that face, and obstructions. It also tracks your head orientation in addition to location. ANd I believe that it provides better performs than what you were using. Go take a look at Torbensko's Headtracking and FaceOff videos, and also try looking at the video responses (I recommend the one by truechuser)
