Anaglyph an indication of 3D? & Passive or real 3D advised?
Hi there I have a gtx 750ti it runs anaglyph on a 17 inch lcd at 1280x1024 just fine. HL2, Halo, even Crysis and sniper elite 2 run very playable.
If my card can run anaglyph alright should I go for 3d vision 2? Obviously I would need a new monitor and so I am wondering if I would be best going for a 3Dvision2 or passive display?
I guess the other point is most monitors would come in at a minimum 24inch so would this degrade the quality?
My rig is just a basic intel quad core setup, nothing fancy but useable.

If you're asking if running in Anaglyph is an indication of what "performance" you could expect running is "true" 3d, the "NO. To estimate this you would take your current performance (Frame rates) and divide it by 2x @ the same resolution. Increasing resolution will lower performance obviously.

There is no such device as a "passive" 3D Vision kit. There is "3dTV Play" which is made for 3D HDTV's in which the TV's decoder/encoder is being used; thus you would use the TV's glasses (some of which are "Passive"). 3d Vision is "active"; you will require a Nvidia 3d Vision certified monitor, Nvidia 3d Vision 1/2 Kit, and "x" amount of Nvidia 3d Vision glasses.
Going with a "3d Vision" (Especially a Vision 2 kit w/ Lightboost) setup is obviously much higher quality then attempting to use 3DTV Play. However if you are planning to "share" your experience (ie: watching 3d movies with the family) then 3DTV Play may be a better option.

How would the size of the monitor degrade the quality? With 3D; Bigger is always Better (increases immersion).

Pretty sure Anaglyph/3D Vision Discover is rendering stereoscopically, it's not fake 3D ... the only real issue I can think of is that Anaglyph might be more forgiving when comes to lower framerates in 3D than shutter glasses.

For me is the other way, at least in 3D Surround. I get massive FPS hit in 3D Surround when using Discover mode instead of 3D Vision (active).
On a single screen I can't see the difference though...

I have looked back at the test for stereoscopic 3D using anaglyph on the 1280-1024 monitor and I swear the Nvidia logo pops out into mid air somewhere between myself and the monitor this is the 3D effect I am looking for in games. Advice would be appreciated. Sadly it seems Nvidia - I hope I am wrong- overtweaked that test and it's a best case scenario not the average case.

Your 750ti will be able to run older games OK.
I use this site for a general reference. It's very subjective because results very from system to system. Some are running overclocks on both their GPUs and CPU, while other have neither OC'd. This among other things can skew the result.

It's not impossible to achieve but it does have it's limitations ... it's not like they make games with 3D in mind like 3D movies where certain scenes are meant to pop out. Once Convergence is unlocked certain games can be made to entirely pop out of the screen, see toyification. That said even a FPS, with the Convergence increased to maximize Depth, looks damn amazing.
