"Show/Hide stereoscopic 3D effects" shortcut disabled
1 / 2
I'm using the newest stable drivers 280.26 and I've been trying to get Trine to function. If I enable 3D Vision and launch the game I get the red warning about unsupported 3D mode. Did some research about Trine and 280.26 and people are saying to check the "Hide 3D effects at launch" and then enable 3D once it has started. The only problem is that control-T does nothing and the option under the keyboard shortcuts is disabled (meaning I cannot set it)
I've tried setting the refresh to 60hz, 120hz (what I keep it at normally). I've also tried setting the refresh_rate_override (or whatever the option is) in the Trine config file etc. Nothing works. I'm assuming that these drivers are just snafu? The real b*t*h of it is that I nuked the entire OS and did a vanilla install assuming it would fix the issue. No luck. My sys-info is in my sig.

The only time I get the red warning about unsupported 3D mode, is when the "In-Game" selected resolution is not the same as what Nvidia supports. Example in-game set to 1280x800@60=RED LETTERS, in-game set to 1280x720@60=3D no red letters. Depending on the Display 3D Vision = 1080P@60 1680x1050@60 1366x768@60 1280x720@60 1024x768@60 800x600@60 3DTV Play = 1080P@24 720P@60

Yeah I've got the res for Trine set to 1080p. I'm not sure what refresh the game runs.

What is the manufacturer and model of the display? Seems weird that you say Control-T is greyed out, but obviously if you are getting red warning letters, 3D is enabled.

The one in my sig. Fully certified 3D Vision setup from ASUS. All the demo stuff that comes with the drivers works perfectly (photo viewer, test stuff). Driving me nuts :(

I saw ASUS in your sig and assumed it was the motherboard and was looking at the 17 matte at the other end, lol. I now know that Asus G74SX-3DE refers to a Gaming Notebook. You might try calling Nvidia or try posting in the laptop sticky in this forumn that was started by Manuel (a Nvidia employee) Notebook not showing "Stereoscopic 3D" option in the NVIDIA Control Panel with R275.33 Sorry, I've no idea, I game on a desktop. Have you tried switching from control-t, to another hot-key. Maybe there's a conflict causing control-t, to not work?

There has been a known issue with laptops and 3D Vision. I'm not sure if that is still the case. I saw this in the release notes for one of the Beta drivers, so you might try it. "3D Vision is now enabled by default in the NVIDIA Control Panelâ€>Set Up Stereoscopic 3D page for notebooks that support 3D Vision." Although if I understand, you are saying that 3D Vision works in all the other games you played with the exception of Trine?

Trine is the first I've installed to try it on. The control-t thing has me bothered though. It should be there is the thing. Or maybe not on laptops. The issue then is the 'hide effects when game first starts' option shouldn't be available either then because control-t is how you enable it! :) I'd rather have the option of having it disabled at launch and then enabling it you know? Completely disabling 3d vision and then enabling it while the game is running doesn't work I tried that.
Oh and Trine is one of the very few games listed as "3D Vision Ready" The only other I own is Metro 2033 and its a 6.5GB download to install it from steam :)
birkarizma, are you running the newest drivers as well? Did it work before you upgraded? I never even checked before I upgraded from the OEM drivers (which were incredibly old 26x.xx)

Yes, try the Beta driver. I'd recommend doing a full install. The 3D Vision User Guide may help you as well. http://www.nvidia.com/content/3dvision/docs/3dvision-universal-install-guide-may11.pdf
