HDMI1.4 checkerboard for all! 3D Vision software fix here!

Roller, why do we need CB for 3D Vision, if we can play at 1920x1080 120hz frame sequential and get full resolution per eye??? Isn't checkerboard mode only for HDTV's, not for 120hz display??? Sorry, but I;m not following you here....

I change to CRT and BAM!!!! I play now many Games in 1080p @ 60Hz Pageflipping on my Samsung UE55C7700, and it is awesome! The TV halved the signal and converts it internally to 2x100Hz = 200Hz. The result: 1080p @ 60Hz great! The only Restriction is, HDMI Audio is reduced to 2 Channel Stereo. I Think it is the Problem of the Bandwith from HDMI. That is not a Problem for me, i use the X-Fi Titanium for 5.1 Sound! Thanks for this FIX Roller11!!! /thanks.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':thanks:' />
@Andrew: Checkerboard is even a good Option for higher Frame Rates and better Quality as 720p. Give us all the Options to change everything that we want in 3DVision & 3DTV Play. We do not want to be forced to use things like TriDef or other hacks. We want to use "Nvidia 3DTV Play" without restrictions! How many users? Maybe i think 70% of all 3DTV Play and 99,9% of all Samsung TV Users!?! /rolleyes.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
@Samsung: Thank you for all these possibilities! /thumbup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':thumbup:' />

Hi, did you have to use that hardware hack to avoid the red message and also cover the 3D Vision IR receiver like Roller pointed out in this thread???
I was about to try out this .inf mod that Roller made it, but as live in Brazil I have no Radioshack here to made this hardware hack to eliminate the red message and I definatelly won't be playing games in CB or Page Flipping starring at an annoying warning red message.
All those alternate modes you have to use Samsung glasses, not 3D Vision glasses, like 3DTV Play right???
This 1920x1080 30hz page flipping mode is interesting, many games are playbable at 30hz, unlike 24hz which is too slow. The ideal is 60hz, but considering page flipping mode give us the same eye candy quality provided my 1920x1080 24hz frame packing, it sounds like a good alternative to play 3D games for us Samsung 3DTV Play users.
I'll play Dead Space 2 in 1920x1080 24hz today, but I wish I could do it with 30hz, as this game is playable at 30fps, and it's the FPS average for consoles, playable.

Hi

Im not sure what you mean since we support checkerboard today for 3D TVs that work with 3D Vision. This includes Mitsubishi DLPs and Samasung DLPs.

Sorry, I left out the 'HDMI1.4' qualifier, let me rephrase...
2010 HDMI1.4 Samsung 3D Ready HDTVs work with 3D Vision.
There is currently no checkerboard support (aka 'generic 3D DLP HDTV' in the control panel) for HDMI1.4 3DTVs under 3D Vision. This has been the case since CD1.33. Will 1920x1080/60 checkerboard mode be available for HDMI1.4 3D Ready TVs in the next 3D Vision CD/geforce release? In particular, Samsung HDMI1.4 3D Ready TVs that support checkerboard mode, which at the same time work with 3D Vision through CD1.45, such as their 2010 line of plasmas?

Hi All

I just wanted to let everyone know we do intend to add checkerboard mode support to future 3DTV Play releases. Thank you all for your feedback. I do not have a schedule yet, but we do agree it makes sense to support it.

Regarding 1920x1080 at 30Hz, we are unsure about that one yet. We will look into it and get back to you.
Great news. My Samsung LE40C750 supports this chekcerboard mode and I recently purchased 3D TV. Although some games work reasonably well at 1080P/24Hz others are hardly playable at 24hz. Probably need a second GTX 460 in SLI to run the show. I assume it will be more hardware demanding? With TRIDEF at least I got serious frame drops when I run at 1080P/60hz.

Since the 3D vision driver includes the 3DTV Play driver path for HDMI 1.4 HDTVs, I guess 3D vision users automatically will also get the checkerboard upgrade when connected to a HDMI 1.4 device. Currently checkerboard mode is restricted to HDMI 1.3 HDTVs.

The new 2010 HDMI 1.4 Samsung LEDs/Plasmas also support 1080p@60Hz checkerboard and 1080p@60Hz page flipping (30Hz per eye), but since 3D vision automatically uses the 3DTV Play driver path when detecting a HDMI 1.4 HDTV, the checkerboard mode (Generic DLP) and page flipping mode (Generic CRT) are not selectable any more, only the frame packing modes.

I'll ask again.... 1080P checkerboard available on HDMI1.4 Plasmas/LED Samsung 3DTVs under next release of 3D Vision? Or not?
Your no-answer implies that the people who have purchased 3D Vision kits will still be stuck with 720P/60 or 1080P/24 framepack, no checkerboard. Tell us your decision even if it isn't what we want to hear.

The Samsung change it to about 240Hz / 120Hz per eye and it its nice and stable and flicker - free.

My Summary is:

I have a Sasmung 120Hz 22" and the 3D Vision @1680*1050. The 3D on my Samsung TV UN55C7700 in CRT Mode 1920*1080@60Hz is mutch better, less Ghosting, less flicker!!! /thumbup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> I won't use my 22" Samsung Display with 3D Vision anymore to play in 3D!
Roller, please explain this to me, I've already asked this to you and got no answer. What do you mean that you can use 3D Vision with 2010 Samsung 3D Ready TV's??? I thought the only way to play games with my Samsung PN63C8000 using Nvidia drivers was through 3DTV Play, 1920x1080 24hz or 1280x720 60hz frame packing. You make it sound like you can use the 3D Vision glasses and IR receiver with the sammy 3D ready TV, is that correct?? It doesn't make sense since those HDMI 1.4 TV's don't have a 3D sync out like the HDMI 1.3 2008 HDTV Samsung 3D Plasmas or DLP Mitsubishi. So what do you mean that you can use 3D Vision with HDMI 1.4 TV's, don't you mean 3DTV Play????
I thought the only way to play games in 3D with those 2010 3D Ready Samsubg TV's is using their own glasses and built in receiver. If Andrew and Nvidia crew add checkerboard to 3DTV Play, than we'll be able to use frame packing 1080p24hz, 720p60hz and also 1080p60hz checkerboard, but using Samsung glasses, not 3D Vision, so this is 3DTV Play, not 3D Vision. I always thought you could only use the 3D Vision glasses and it's IR receiver with 120hz display that have DVI-DL or DLP HDTV's that have a 3D sync output that is connected through the 3D Vision IR receiver's 3D sync input, isn't that right? I kindly ask you to please explain this to me.

With TRIDEF at least I got serious frame drops when I run at 1080P/60hz.
TriDef has same performance as 3D Vision/3DTV Play. Be sure you have 'enable stereo 3D' unchecked (disabled) in nvidia control panel when launching games under TriDef driver. If checked, the TriDef and Nvidia will both try to control the game resulting in terrible performance. Use either TriDef or nvidia 3D drivers, not both.

Regarding 1920x1080 at 30Hz, we are unsure about that one yet. We will look into it and get back to you.
Thanks Andrew ... great decision and the right one to boot. If you don't have much success in pushing TV makers down the full 1080p/60Hz per eye route (due to the different connectors required), then push them on this at least. Thank god Samsung supports it already.

Thanks Andrew ... great decision and the right one to boot. If you don't have much success in pushing TV makers down the full 1080p/60Hz per eye route (due to the different connectors required), then push them on this at least. Thank god Samsung supports it already.

You can use eiter with Samy 2010 TV's and Roller Mod. You can use 3DTVPlay or 3D Vision. You change to DLP Display on 3D Vision, go in the Sammsung Menu and Switch 3D On. Change to 3D Checkerboard and you have 3D with the Samsung Glasses. The Nvidia IR transmitter must be hidden at the Samsung Syncronisation signal not to disturb. Also you can change to CRT on 3D Vision Driver. You can use Frame sequentiel @60 Hz. The Nvidia Glasses and Transmitter dosn't work on the Samsung. The TV must change the Singnal internal to 120Hz or more. You can't play on real 30Fps per Eye over Nvidia Transmitter! ;-) You can and must use the Samsung Glasses without any Sync Signal out or Something on a 1.4 3D Ready Samsung TV. I have no Red Warning Message on this Modes. It works great but excuse my bad english. /turned.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':turned:' />

Thanks for the explanation pal. I guess now I understand what you guys mean by using 3D Vision with a Samsung 2010 3D Ready TV. You mean use checkerboard or any other mode which is not frame packed 1080p24hz or 720p60hz. I call 3DTV Play any type of 3D that works through Nvidia drivers using my 3D Ready TV. I mean, if I was to call 3D Vision, than I was going to use 3D Vision glasses and IR receiver, If I'm not using them, but instead Samsung glasses, then It's 3DTV Play for me, no matter if it's frame packed, checkerboard, or page flipping. Those 2008 DLP TV's and Samsung Plasmas work with 3D vision, but they use 3D Vision glasses and it's IR receiver, so it's 3D Vision, not 3DTV Play. This really doesn't matter, but that's how I see it. I was very confusing about this 3D Vision stuff working with Samsung 2010 3D Ready TV, but now I get it. I always thought you coudn't use

I was about to try out Roller mod, but he said you need a piece of hardware hack to get rid of red message, so did you use this hardware hack or not? If you tell me that I can only change the .inf file that Roller created and then I can play games in my TV using Checkerboard 1080p60hz Page Flipping 1080p30hz without having to use a hardware hack to avoid the red message then I will definatelly try this out.

Please let me know that, thank your for clearing out things.
