Overwatch lag and horrible fps w/ 3d vision off but enabled.
Having the stereo 3d enabled in control panel causes hug input lag, and destroys my frame rates in Overwatch. On epic settings I go from a rock solid 120fps w/ adaptive vsync when 3d is completely disabled, to 20-40fps on high settings with massive input lag just from enabling 3d in control panel even with 3d turned off in game. I wanted to try to use my lightboost for a smoother image at 120fps, but simply turning on 3d in control panel isn't an option for having a playable game in Overwatch. I've been locked to nvidia for YEARS simply for crappy 3d vision support in games. There are only a tiny handful of games that it works well with, and even lightboost for smoothing now doesn't work. It sucks to invest in technology that simply doesn't work because companies don't support it. If VR is supported as well as 3d vision is, the entire industry is doomed. *frustrated*

100s of games that work in 3D and another user is complaining. 8 out 10 of the top AAA games have a fix within 2 weeks and if a fix isn't available then there is CM mode. As a user this is one thing I have got money worth thanks to hard work of people in this forum.

Well I only play an handful of games, and only buy one or 2 games a year. I mostly play shooters which don't work well with 3D because of the huge eye strain. That's why it's extremely frustrating to have my frame rate crushed when just trying to use the lightboost feature. Honestly I wish I just had a gsync monitor for shooters and then a VR set for actual 3d games. The only games I really want 3d for are Ark and elite dangerous. Ark has too low a frame rate to even consider 3d, so that leaves me with only one game I really want 3d for. I'll have to try out these 3rd party patches which the idea of alone bothers me as it's one more link in the chain to go wrong. Having dealt with 3d vision since it was released and it mostly going unused on my system makes me understand why so many people choose consoles over pc gaming, but when it does work 3d vision can be amazing.

If your hardware support it (Monitor) then you getting it no matter what. Drivers got nothing to do with it. Also you have to read a little bit more about what Lightboost really is. It`s not a turbocharger. It doesn`t affect game performance at all - which means you won`t be getting smoother gameplay because of that.
That's why it's extremely frustrating to have my frame rate crushed when just trying to use the lightboost feature.
I am playing Overwatch using LightBoost on my VG278H and it greatly reduces the motion blur at high refresh rates 100hz +. This is a setting you force through your monitor and should not be set through the 3D control panel and should have zero impact on performance. Refer to the blurbusters forum for info on setting this up correctly using their strobelight application. Your monitor is supported, it should work with 3D turned off. http://www.blurbusters.com/zero-motion-blur/lightboost/ I use this for all shooter / competitive type games that I don't enable 3D in.

I confirm that the problem mentionned by jabuki does occur for DCS World. As someone post on DCS forum that he win a lot of fps in DCS by using old drivers, I made some testing with drivers and settings and discovered that ticking the 3dvision option in the nvidia control panel make me go from 70fps to 50fps in my test scenario, even if 3dvision mode is not setted in DCSWorld (because the game is not in real full screen mode by default). And activate the 3dvision mode give me again a small fps loss. I did not check for other games. And older drivers did not bring fps gain...

I appreciate the feedback, even if it isn't exactly correct. I have the 3d vision emitter and glasses so I shouldn't need the toasty x application which forces lightboost on for people who don't have the emmiter. My experience with toasty X isn't great and found it more a pain to use than simply enabling 3d in the drivers. I may give toasty X another shot as lower input lag is specifically mentioned and that is definitely the largest problem i'm having with overwatch beyond much lower frame rates. I realize my cards are old but there was not advantage to going to a 970, and wasn't going to pay for the small improvement of a 980 so I have been waiting for the 1070 to release and will get a non founders as soon as I can find one for sale. As i said i don't play a huge variety of games and honestly stopped fighting trying to make 3d work for quit a while but now I am jumping through the hoops again to get the hardware that i have payed for doing what it should. It's awesome that there are people willing to put the effort into 3rd party mods, but it's sad that they are even needed.

3d vision (along with 4k VR and surround gaming) is one of the few scenarios you actually need a heavy duty graphics card for the last few years to play games to a comfortable level with decent settings. Game specific bugs aside, Honestly I am not surprised you have had a lot of problems with it.... There is a reason why I run a Titan X SLI setup.... (and its not just because I like pissing money down the drain, for my setup it's required.)

After going back and trying toastyX again, then using my colormunki to calibrate my monitor, I have to say that my monitor has never looked better than with light boost always on at 120hz. This also solved the input lag and fps drop issues in overwatch 2D. I guess 3d vision hardware should come with a disclaimer that you will be required to use the forums if you ever make it work properly in games ;) Thanks for the feedback.
