Aw2310 Brightness set at 100% & Locked LOCKED even when 3d disabled
  1 / 4
Please help, im having issues with nvidea drivers.

When playing games in 3d the brightness of my alienware aw2310 locks at 100% and i cant change that (which i would like to be able to do to help ghosting a little bit in just cause 2,)
But when i stop playing a 3d game, and press the button on the ir unit, or turn of 3d in the nvidea control panel, the lcd screen is still locked at 100% brightness which is burning my eyes big time!! it only unlocks when i restart my computer (even a lcd power on and off doesnt work.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi

This is expected behavior. in 3D mode the brightness is locked at 100% to ensure best quality.

thanks for your response, at least ive got that part cleared up when in game.

but the fact when i close down a game (such a just cause 2) and my brightness is still locked even though nvidea 3d is turned off seems like a bug as sometimes it becomes unlocked again without needing a windows restart.

Anyway thanks for this and my other post response, at least i can stop messing around with settings trying to fix things that cant be fixed by me :-)

Cheers.

I have also the same problem with my samsung 2233RZ, and I suffer the problem since I bought it. Problem happens when I exit some games (with others there are no problem). If I reset the computer I solve the problem, of course. This problem has been written in this forum before, with no answer and then no solution.

Of course the best solution is to disable this automatic 100% full bright monitor locked position, and let us to select the desired OSD bright for each game.

PD: Nvidia, I know how to use the osd buttons of my monitor. Do you know what is the best for me?... I doubdt. This is as stupid as the use of convergence lock in some games.

Same problem here.. don't mind about auto setting brightness to 100%.. but at least work on a fix to give us our original brightness back when we exit a 3D Vision application..
Btw.. I found a little workaround without having to exit windows: open nvida control panel and on the 3D Vision setup just run "Test Stereoscopic 3D".. after I quit it gives me back control over brightness.

Hi

Trying to figure this one out.

Can you set the brightness level lower through the panels on screen display when you have quite your game and are in 2D mode?

Hi
No..brightness is completely locked..
It just appens after quitting most (quite all i'd say, except the "test stereoscopic 3d" nvidia application) programs when running 3d vision

I think we are responding ridiculous questions. We have this problem since the release of the first samsung 2233RZ monitor and this problem is vastly comented in this forum. It is not a problem of an exclusive release driver, it happend with all drivers I have installed.

PD: I have last directx installed in my computer, and also I normally sleep in a bed.

Brightness also gets locked at 100% on my monitor too. It reverts to normal after changing resolution or refresh rate. This is on 267.59 modified inf.

I have the same behaviour here.

It seems that, after quitting some games/apps, the Display-mode stays at 1920x1080@120Hz instead of falling back to 1920x1080@60Hz.
Then you need to start the 3D-Test-Application or a Photo in the 3D-Photo-Viewer and after quitting from that the Display falls back as it should.

I haven't been able to reproduce this issue. Are you using Windows SP1? Which USB emitter driver do you have installed? Does this only occur with certain games or all games? Did this happen with previous driver versions?

This happend on Win7 64bit before and after the SP1. And it happens as long as I have the AW2310 + 3D-Vision. Drivers were from 258.96 to 266.58. Emitter-Controller-driver is the 266.21 now.

Reproducing should not be a problem as it happens nearly each fourth or fifth time, when leaving a 3D-app.

Just played a bit with my PC.

When Desktop-Resolution is set to 1920x1080@100Hz and 3D-Vision is set to 120Hz then it occures nearly each time when leaving the StoneGiant-Techdemo.
Inside the Techdemo 3D-Vision is active and the AW2310 shows 1920x1080@120Hz(with locked brightness of course).
After leaving(with ESC) the AW2310 shows 1920x1080@100Hz but brightness is still locked at 100.
