Multiple questions from a newb.
I just found out that Nvidia offers 3d support and have some questions.

1. I have a 6600 GT AGP card do nvidia stero drivers support this chipset?

2. When using anaglyph glasses will I expierence color loss? If so how bad is it?

3. Do I want anaglyf glasses with diopter correction or without?

4. Will I expierence a decrease in performance for video games?

5. I will mostly be playing FPS games and want to know how the crosshair works in stero?

6. I will mostly be playing HL2 Mods are there any issues with these games and stero?

Ok, your 6600GT should work. You will need 78.01 Forceware and 78.01 stereo, but there is a later 82.12 beta stereo driver which may or may not work better for you.

Yes, my understanding is you will have some color distortion with anaglyf glasses.

Question: Do you have a CRT or LCD monitor?

If you have a CRT monitor, spend the $30 on Ebay and get LCD shutterglasses - MUCH BETTER 3D EXPERIENCE.

If not, ask around about Edimensional glasses and see what people think. As far as I know, they are the only ones that support LCD at this time.

Doesn't my monitor have to support higher than 100Hz?
And any 3d shutter glasses will be compatable with Nvidia drivers?

That is partially correct.

Pretty much any CRT monitor will support 100Mhz refresh with the right resolution.

That's why people play in 1024X768 using stereo. I'm able to go as high as 1152X864 X 100Mhz.

The higher the refresh rate, the better the experience. Too low, and the flickering gives you a headache.

Another benefit is resolution is not as important in 3D mode because the 3D effect overwhelms the image quality. Antialiasing, while beneficial, also has greatly reduced importance.

Most 3d shutterglasses will work with the NVIDIA drivers. Go to the NVIDIA stereo site to find compatible brands.

I'm using X3D shutterglasses.

Personaly I found that I had to run at at least 140Hz as I can see 60Hz flicker and found shutter glasses really anoying, but bumping it up to 140Hz gives 70Hz per eye which was fine for me.

As for anaglyphic glasses, check out http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtop...indpost&p=78989

As for the crosshair, some games the nVidia laser crosshair will work, otherwise you may find that you just have to play without the crosshair unfortunatly. only a few gams autaly render the crosshair at the targets depth (Max Payne being one of the few that I know of).

For hl2 there is quite a long running thread over at http://forums.stereovision.net/ on what does and doesn''t work for hl2. You will have to disable HDR as certinty.
