GTX580 question
Hi, I have two GTX580s with a three monitor setup. I have a few questions on the 3d Vision Surround. 1. On the compatible hardware list, it does not show the GTX580, only the GTX580M (Laptop/mobile version), so will my 580's work with 3d vision or not? 2. I have the 310.70 driver. Under, "Configure SLI Surround, PhysX, it will allow me to "span displays with Surround". When I do this, I am able to run FSX at a resolution of 5760 x 1080. The display does not look quite right...it looks more like it is "zoomed in" than really spanning the three monitors correctly. When I was reading up on the 3D vision tech on the website, it said I should be able to choose to run in "2d" mode with a resolution of 2560 x 1600, but I don't find this resolution available in any of the games that I'm trying to run (TFC, FSX, ARMA2). My question is where can I find the option to run it in 2D and will the 2560 x 1600 only show up in the 2D? Thx Mark

1. 580 is the desktop version 580m is the laptop version (m comes from mobile) 2. The zoomed it that you see is the hyper angular FOV (vield of view). Set the monitors accordingly in an arc of 160 degrees between 2 monitors rather than completely flat: - - - (BAD) /-\ (GOOD) If you get my meaning 3. In 2D and 3D surround you get the resolution of: 3x maximum display resolution that is valid for each screen and is common (each screen supports): - 1920x1080 => 3x 1920 x 1080 = 5760 x 1080 (Landscape Mode) - 1920x1080 => 1920 x (3x 1080) = 1920x3240 (Portrait Mode) 4. 3D Vision works ONLY IN LANSCAPE MODE (NO PORTRAIT MODE) for both Single and Surround Screen resolutions. 5. The thing that you READ about the resolution of 2560 x 1600 is THE MAXIMUM SUPPORTED RESOLUTION ( ONLY if your displays SUPPORTS it). Again, for the zoomed in effect do step 2 as I can assure you is just an optical illusion on your part, but if the monitors are correctly positioned you will compensate the fish-eye effect on the sides (which is meant to be used for peripheral view)

Also, this is part of FSX, it was built a very long time ago, before wide screen monitors became pretty much the only thing you can buy. It actually prefers 4:3 monitors, and works pretty well with those. Here's some detail on the problem: http://www.flightsim.com/vbfs/showthread.php?263630-Triple-Screen-Stretched-GTX670-Nvidia-Surround-FSX You can also try setting the [Display] parameter of WideViewAspect=true in the cfg file. I'm pretty sure that helps, but doesn't not eliminate the problem. For full details, watch the videos referenced in that link.

Hey guys, Thanks for the quick replies. Bo3b, the [Display] parameter fixed FSX. Looks great now. I'm still having problems with Team Fortress Classic...any ideas how to fix that? Also, I can't get ARMA 2 to run correctly when I run it in SLI mode. Last question. This works great with the 310.70 driver. When I load up the latest driver (331.81) I don't see a way to "span displays with surround"....does the 331.81 not support the 3D surround? Thx
