First off. 120Hz is only needed for PC monitors. These are the ones the work with Nvidia 3D Vision glasses (60Hz per eye). There are no real 120Hz+ HDTVs. They all take a 60Hz signal and are able to convert this into higher refresh rates (like 120Hz needed for 3D). But the actual stated refresh, for example 240Hz, is somewhat bogus since the content is still 60Hz. Next, 3D HDTVs can only game in 720P 3D due to a limitation of HDMI 1.4a. You can, however watch Blu-Ray 3D at 1080P since this is at 24Hz. So this will not be as good quality as a 3D Vision monitor, which can play 3D at the full 1080P 60Hz and 2D at 1080P 120Hz. It should still look pretty cool, but you should know in advance.
In general DLP has the least ghosting, then Plasma, then LCD. But recent TVs mostly look pretty good so this is not a huge issue anymore. The best 3D I've seen is on the Sony Bravia line. The one I saw was a 60" for around $5,000, but they have gone down in price since then. The Panasonic Viera TVs are very good also, and should be more affordable. I've also seen the Sasmung Plasma, but they were only showing 2D content, though it looked very good. For your price range the Panasonic Viera is probably the best bet, like the GT25 ( http://www.amazon.com/Panasonic-VIERA-TC-P50GT25-50-inch-Plasma/dp/B0040Q93PI ). Its reasonably priced. But I haven't seen this model, I saw the more expensive VT25, so I am not sure if its as good. If you'd rather go with LCD, then the Samsung UN46C8000 is probably a good choice ( http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-UN46C8000-46-Inch-1080p-HDTV/dp/B0036WT4EW/ ).

Ignore Tritosine2K, he has never seen Mits DLP and it's screen door effect.
Pass on passive, CB doesn't work and all other native resolution modes aren't supported by nvidia.
3DTV Play is hideous.
Go with samsung, the only way to get native rez gaming at full framerate with 3D Vision.
Finally, disregard the TV requirements on the nvidia site, they are incomplete. Many TVs work that are not listed.
And don't get the 55D6900, it doesn't support native rez gaming.
LCD has 40% aperture, and DLP has 90% . This means DLP has no screendoor , but LCD has screendoor.
BTW beancounting pixel maniac parrots like Roller should be ignored. Maybe he even makes money outta that checkerboard nonsense or he's on Samsung's payroll.
Dude just go over avsforum.com for advice, I told you long ago , don't believe this biased " 3DTV-s are coolest thing ever" , its bull **** , just like 240hz.

Roller, why did you not tell him about Checkerboard?! Then the guy that hates you would comment and tell Nostalgia how you always talk about checkerboard. This thread has been a dissapointment to me....hmph...haha j/k. I cannot offer a lot of advice. I love my Samsung setup I have no issues. I am not an audio or video phile dude, though.

Theres a good chance both LG and Samsung will be banned from selling that bunch of bogus, after they loose the LED patent war /biggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
Oh , and roller talked about checkerboard, too bad you can't even read between the lines?

[quote]"Samsung LED intends to vigorously enforce its intellectual property rights, and these lawsuits reflect Samsung LED's commitment to that enforcement," the company said in a release.
"Osram is well prepared regarding possible actions by Samsung," said Stefan Schmidt, Osram's head of media relations.
Samsung LED is alleging infringement of eight patents covering what it calls "core" LED technologies used in products such as lighting, automobiles, projectors, mobile phone screens and TVs.
Semiconductor-based LEDs, or light emitting diodes, are becoming increasingly popular for their durability and energy-saving capability.
Samsung LED also suggested it could expand the scope of the USITC case.
"As new information becomes available it will continue to evaluate the potential to add additional parties who may be importing, using or selling the accused Osram LEDs in the U.S. market," the company said in the release.
Samsung LED was established in 2009 as a joint venture between Samsung Electronics Co. and Samsung Electro-Mechanics Co.
Such complaints and lawsuits over patents are common in the global technology industry and seldom lead to market disruptions as disputes take months or years to resolve and typically end with payments of licensing fees rather than import bans.
Still, they highlight the intensity of competition in which technological advantage can give companies a key edge in attracting consumers.
Rochester, New York-based Eastman Kodak Co. has an ongoing patent dispute over photo technology at the USITC with Apple Inc. of Cupertino, California, and BlackBerry maker Research in Motion Ltd. of Waterloo, Canada.
