Confused: is there a Helix DX11 wrapper?

Helix, I thought Lua Scripts would not work with a game unless specifically enabled by the Engine/Devs. Couldn't Lua scripts be used to mod just about anything like is done in WoW. Cursors, Crosshairs, UIs, Maps, Fonts, etc...? As well as add in things like MP3 players?

He is using a LUA script instead of manually writing shaders. Like if I were to fix BI [IMPOSSIBLE]. It would take 10,000+ shaders with me manually inserting code depending on the shader [Not to mention risk of error]. Helix's lua script is integrated with his wrapper where it will inject code based on certain headers/code so he fixes the proper effects.... It's extremely complicated but its only for shaders. The language itself can be used by whatever developer of "whatever application" allows. If developer implements it. LUA script for WOW is allowed because the developers allowed it. Helix's lua script for his wrapper is allowed because he wrote it in, so its limited to shaders. Basically learning LUA script will only be good for whatever application allows it. Think of it as option B. for fixing shaders. He originally fixed Mass Effect 3 manually for like a 3000+ shaders [I forget]. But he can do it do in like 20 now if he opts to use lua script. The lua script by itself is meaningless, its used in conjunction with his wrapper [the tool].

Ahh, so the Lua script isn't integrated with the game engine but runs in his wrapper.

Yup. It basically just "speaks" to his wrapper about which shaders to fix. Its just an alternative to all those .TXT's you see in our override folders. Like MAYBE it would serve some use learning the language for some kind of other modding but it serves no purpose unless a tool comes around. -------------------------------------- You can tech. do things with shaders [not lua]. Like resizing/reposition/removing hud elements if thats what you mean. I doubt [could be wrong] that there will ever be a true universal mod for replacing textures if thats what you mean. Just because of so many different file formats/encryption a developer can use. Texmod/umod currently exist but compatibility is a bit low. As far as I know its limited to DX9. A good example of HUD modification through shaders is helix's Dark Souls fix. -------------------------------------- [b]IN CASE ANYONE MISSED IT SINCE PAGE GOT BUMPED.HELIX UPDATED THE PATCH[/b]

Naw, You asked about modding the sword in Witcher 1 awhile back. I thought maybe Lua script might allow you to mod the sword or crosshairs, shrink/reposition Huds. Like the mod 'cursor' allowed effects on the mouse pointer in-game. It was a neat program with lots of possibilities, I thought maybe something like it could be used for crosshairs. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hVMjxYNW11I

He updated his build 4 hours ago.[Third version I believe] If your waiting for a final version[as I am]. Prob better off watching helixmod site. Tomb Raider was a bit ruined for me because I didnt wait for crosshair fix. I mean I was happy with it but why not wait imo. So I learned my lesson.

What does this mean for the future of fixes? Can only Helix do them? Are they harder or easier than before? Will the progression here effect DX9?

He is posting his WIP here. When he does he will publish it on site. If you want to follow progress can just click helix's user name [Dont message him...] and it will show his posts. No effect on DX9, to say anything about DX11 would be ignorant of me so I wont. Its going to have a big learning curve though. It doesnt look at all similiar to dx9. What that means? Who knows.

Thats too bad, it was nice how random guys posted fixes for lesser known games, even though the best fixes came from the regulars.

Helix, Thank's for your hard work putting this together. I have a 3DTV Play projector that I'm attempting to try this on with no luck. I've tried setting my resolution down to 720p, but it pops me in to 1280x800@120Hz instead of 1280x720p@60Hz. I can't seem to figure out if there is a way to change the resolution to 1080p@24Hz or 720p@60Hz. Is this not supported yet, or is this just not possible with Bioshock Infinite? (Running a BenQ W1070 projector)

OK I played for a while with the third build. Man, if there is anything left to fix, it is VERY minor. Banners are fixed. I saw no tracers. Water and fire that I saw were fixed. No glitching on ammo boxes. GREAT!!!! I would say PLAY IT! If you are looking for utter perfection, maybe. VERY minor lighting in some small places. It looks great!!! Play!!!
