3D vision driver cuts my FPS to half! Even when 3d is turned off!
TO THOSE RESPONSIBLE AT NVIDIA: 3d vision driver, when even turned off from control panel, cuts my FPS to half in a lot of games. This happened in SHIFT 2, which isnt playable in 3D and I said it is ok I can uninstall 3d for a while. But now this happens in Witcher 2 which looks georgeus in 3D and I cant play it in 3D.

WTF? I am very angry at this! I paid all this money for a 3D system and you cut my FPS to half? For example my rig can get 60 FPS in witcher 2 in high settings with latest beta driver. Just installing the 3d driver cuts it to 30, and using 3D in game cuts it to 15! Are you kidding me? I should sue you for this. Unbelievable! You are NEVER getting my money again!

You're giving up on something so easily? Especially something that will truely enhance gaming for you! There are currently issues with The Witcher 2 at the moment with 3D vision installed and this did only come out yesterday so give it more time. On a side note, I do think that Nvidia should release standalone profile files on the day of at least major releases so that us release day buyers don't have to wait around for days, weeks and sometimes months to play a new game in 3D. Shift 2 however needs the developer to work with Nvidia to get their game playable (looking right) with 3D vision. That is why I am currently using the TriDef drivers to play in 3D but that halves my normally 60FPS for some reason.
If you'd done any research before buying 3D vision you would have found that 3D can indeed cut your FPS in half depending on you GPU so this, in essence is your fault for not "googling" stuff. What are the specs of your system? Running an SLI rig will, in most cases, more than compensate for running 3D vision.

You clearly havent read my complaint properly. 3d vision drops my frames from 60 to 15. I have an overclocked GTX 460 and a Quad Core, I am well aware of that 3d should halve my FPS. but 1/4 FPS is insane! It doesnt happen in all games but as i said it also happens in SHIFT 2. And the problem isnt only for 3D users like me. If I didnt have 3d but installed the 3d driver anyway, I would again be getting half the FPS for no reason other than 3d drivers. This is a MAJOR problem, a lot of people are also experiencing this; I posted about this before and got no response from NVIDIA.

I now see that other 3d solutions have gotten ahead of NVIDIA's, you can guess that I am VERY upset about my purchase.

Like I said in my post, the witcher 2 has only just been released and many people are having issues with the performance. I have agreed with you on that, but most games run very well with 3D vision and some take time for optimizations from Nvidia, the Developers or us, the consumers. I am downloading The Witcher 2 now as I type and I will most likely feel as angry as you when it doesn't run very well on my system, and rightly so. It is a very annoying situation to put ourselves in, being relitavely early adopters of 3D gaming but now with more competitors coming onto the scene, Nvidia need to step up their game to keep us.

See that word I underlined in your quote? Starts with B? Rhymes with "beta"?

When you buy games (or any complex program, really) the day it comes out, you're signing up for bugs. It's been that way forever. Bugs in the game, bugs in the drivers, bugs in the setup program, bugs in the online registration.... Wait for other people to buy the game and give the all clear, THEN shell out the cash. Sure Witcher 2 was $5 off as a pre-order but that doesn't pay for blood pressure medication.

Set the Witcher 2 down and play something else for a week or two. I'm sure a lot of folks got Gothic 2 off GoG for free. That's an excellent game. By the time you finish that, Witcher 2 should be solid.

This problem was present months before Witcher 2. I posted about this here and EA forums countless times and got no response. It is obvious that something is terribly wrong with 3d vision drivers. I am starting to think NVIDIA is not acting on this on purpose...

i allso have this problem and cant seem to get rid of it.
Shift gives about 30-35fps in 2d and 3d.
If i end process of nvSCPAPISvr from task manager i suddenly get a solid 60fps but then i cant use 3dtvplay!

same problem with fable and witcher 2, low fps and terribly low gpu usage.
Have a 3.9ghz phenom II 965 so thats not a problem.

Half fps is actually abvious if you think of it, your monitor probably have 120hz, but nvidia 3d vision is kinda showing two screens instead of one, to put them almost in to eachother and thats the thing that makes it all work. but each of those pictures have 60hz.

btw my specs are:

MOTHERBOARD: Asus P7P55D
PROCESSOR: Intel i5 750 4.0Ghz
CPU COOLER: Corsair h50
VIDEO: Gainward Geforce GTX 285
PSU: Corsair TX650W
RAM: 2 x 2GB kingston 1600mhz
CASE: Silverstone rv01
SSD/HDD: Samsung spinpoint 500gb + external
OPERATING SYSTEM: Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit
MONITOR: Samsung 2233RZ 120hZ
KEYBOARD/MOUSE: Logitech G15 and Razer mamba
