I also went into the d3dx.ini file and uncommented the resolution settings, forcing the resolution and tried again. This time it actually came up with the Nvidia Overlay saying this game wasn't recommended for 3D, but it quickly froze after the initial load. I have Steam Community turned off for this.
@Douglas_D are you using an AVR between the gpu and display or a splitter/switcher? What model is the display? I'm using a Geforce GTX 760 and a Benq W1070 1080p projector (trying to run at 720p@60hz or 1080p@24hz.
Further comments on this. I found that the game would load up with 3D enabled when I placed the dxgi.dll file in the .exe directory and that is when the game would crash. I removed the dxgi.dll file and of course, the resolution went back to doing whatever it wanted to do and 3D would not be enabled again.
Is it just this game or all games? I suggest using Monitor Asset Manager a free download from Entech taiwan. Use the program to check the reported resolutions and refresh rates of your PJ, perhaps the eeprom is corrupted. Not likely nowadays, but fairly common in years past.
This happens only with this game. I have used 3D successfully with Arkham City, BF3, Tomb Raider, standard 3D movies using TotalMedia Theatre 6, and .mkv's using Stereoscopic Player 8.0.2.

Well the three games you mentioned have "native" stereo support. So I assumed you did not have 3DTV Play. Do you see a green logo in the setup 3D tab of the NVCP? What connection type are you using? What format do you have selected?

I am using an HDMI cable between my system and projector. I can toggle the laser sight within all of these games and adjust the depth using CTRL+F3/F4, so it seems to be working for all other games. Are you running 3DTV Play on your system or are you using a 3D Vision setup?

I use both but I do not have BI, so I can't test for you. You should start a new thread to discuss this problem perhaps

Got to wait, need to see if it happens to anyone else. Too many variables.

Some reflexions are bad.
I reported this when I first looked at it and I still think some reflections are not right. I am attaching a set of images which are 'pairs' taken with 100% and 0% depth to show what I mean. Hope it helps. Link: https://s3.amazonaws.com/Mike_Ar69/NVStereoscopic3D.zip

I decided to take the plunge last night, and all I can say is WOW! This game is amazing in s3d!!! Many thanks to you Helix. Amazing work. I am having issues with the game/computer locking up occasionally. This may be hardware related though, so I'm going to try reducing my clocks.

I really need to read pcgaming wiki more often. The amount of data is always impressive. I believe I saw Helix's fixes a few times on it [Dark Souls] @redcubelilj http://forums.anandtech.com/showthread.php?t=2195063 When you got nothing to do. Run one of those tests [like before bed]

Thanks for the help guys!! It turned out to be the low PoolSize. Since I have increased the value everything has been running silky smooth. I also disabled depthoffield in the xengine.ini and it makes such a difference when outdoors. The floating cities off in the distance are crisp and clear.
