XL2420TX - 3D not working
  3 / 8
PNY GTX 680 w/ 301.24 drivers
MSI P67A-GD65 (B3)
Intel Core i7 2600k
Corsair 16GB DDR3@1600 XMP profile
Corsair 600watt power supply
Corsair 120GB Sata3.0 SSD
BenQ XL2420TX
Windows 7 x64 Ultimate with all updates and SP1

I run everything at stock (no overclocks here) with excellent cooling and ventilation.

Basically this monitor has a problem with the built-in emitter periodically failing to sync with the glasses. It's not the glasses failing to sync with the monitor. If the glasses were to blame then we could power cycle those instead of the monitor. Everything else is working great with the monitor but for $545 it isn't worth keeping when A) something is already broken, and B) unlike some of you guys, I have been horribly frustrated with their friendly but very, very, very unknowledgeable support staff. Best of luck to all of you!

Im curious, is anyone experiencing this issue with the XL2420T + Standalone 3D Vision 2 Kit? Because I might buy that instead, if the TX has issues.

But you never know what you are getting back when you RMA something. I always mark mine with invisible ink so I know if I got mine back, or some other guys reject after going through the repair process. I know it doesn't really matter, but makes me feel better when it's the same one /biggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Will they send you an advanced replacement? Or do you have to send back the old one first?

Same here. Just got it today, let it sit for 3 hours on two different occasions, once on standby and once turned off, and both times the 3D worked after turning it back on. Woo hoo!

Forget it. My new monitor has started doing the same thing. I am sending them both back for a refund. Looks like I'll be waiting for some other manufacturers to make the 3D vision 2 monitor /confused.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

ncix took the item down the site and newegg don't have the item listed on the site either. shame on this quality product with a glitched feature.
i actually don't mind as i don't use 3d much as it gives me a headache sometimes. when i feel like 3d gaming i just power cycle it before i play /biggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

I agree about the 3D gaming, so I'm thinking of going with the XL2420T, because I absolutely loved the monitor. I have both of them boxed up ready to go sitting on the floor, and it's making me really sad typing this on my ViewSonic vx2250wm-led /confused.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> I can't believe I can't find more about this issue elsewhere. Regardless, if I spend $500 on something, I want it to work. I'll prob wait a few months then order another one, see if there QCA gets any better.

The XL2420T is amazing, if you don't feel like 3D right away you could just game in 2D 120Hz and then buy a 3D Vision kit with the emitter to jump back into the 3D world once you feel the urge to. But just make sure you dont need 3D over HDMI because the XL2420T does not support that whereas the XL2420TX does, if so just find another monitor.

I have been using my XL2420T + Nvidia 3D Vision Kit for about a week now and I have not run into any issues at all if that makes you feel a bit more comfortable about buying the XL2420T, because it truly is an incredible monitor. In 3D there is signifcantly less ghosting than some other 3D monitors/TVs I have seen than with this monitor.

Too bad the XL2420TX didn't work for you though, im glad you guys made this thread however because I probably would have ended up with the XL2420TX so thanks for bringing the issue up.

Guess what, I bought this monitor last Thursday after first eyeing the VG278H for many weeks. I decided to go for the BenQ beause of many concern with the ASUS one.

Well, I got the monitor yesterday Monday and was all excited to discover everything in 3D again that I'm used to watch on my previous 19" CRT. Trine 2 was already marvellous and it was even more in full HD and less crosstalk.

Today Tuesday, one day later only, I try the 3D but nothing. I see the green light goes on and the double image on screen so I was pretty sure all was fine but the glasses did nothing when I pressed the button. I connected the USB IR emitter I removed (now that the TX got one built in) and immediatly I saw in 3D.

DAMN I said, I'm never lucky with what I buy. I was sure the emitter was broken for good. I began to look for other with similar problems and found this thread.

NICE! We have a fix but what now? Looks like neither nVidia/BenQ know what the problem is.

This happened only after 1 day. How often will it happen? Looks like if I RMA for another one, I may well get the same problem with the next one. Should I consider a refund?

If you have a 3D Vision Emitter already, I would get a refund on your BenQ XL2420TX and trade it in (+ some cash back because it's cheaper) for a BenQ XL2420T. With the emitter the XL2420T works brilliantly and I have had no issues. The only thing you will miss out on is 3D over HDMI as the XL2420T does not have it whereas the XL2420TX does. So if you don't need the 3D over HDMI, trade the TX in for a T for sure as you will get some cash back as well.

That's what I would do.
