If this effect remains the same in games...

holy crap.

There is almost none ghosting in games and you can tweak it so there is no visible ghosting now in games.
You can even swap images so you do not need glasses upside down with some projectors.

im pretty sure reduced ghosting comes with increased FPS not necessarily the fermi arch.

There is massive FPS, but I doubt that FPS have influence on ghosting.
I need 2 or 3 these cards for sli ASAP, Fermi rocks.
I am considering water cooling (EVGA hydrocopper) because the thing is loud.

I don’t know if that is true. 3D Vision forces V-Sync. You’re going to be capped at 60 3d frames or 120 2d frames. The tech has to sync with the monitors refresh and if the monitors refresh is 120 the maximum it can give you is 60 per eye. I have played games that at 60 3d frames, the max, there is still present ghosting.

I reaaaaaaly doubt the acuracy of this topic...........

1st of all we already have prety dam good proof that the LCD tech is the problem as it cannot change colour quickly enough( blacks to whites for example ) Also the way the screen refreshes means that it will never be perfect.

All sounds a tad negative but im just seriously doubtfull that it will signficantly reduce any ghosting.

Please prove me wrong /sweat.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> cos it would be awesome news if it dose......

Have you watched that video? Just run test image in stereoscopic photo viewer and make video or photo, let's see the difference.
I have not seen any proof that ghosting is caused by LCD tech or that it can not be compensated.

Technology is maturing, Nvidia listens to customers and apparently improved this problematic area, we should be thankfull for this.

Well, specifically, top and bottom screen ghosting has been proven to be a flaw in current LCD tech. However, top and bottom screen ghosting imo isn’t a big deal. It has to do with the panel and how the refresh the pixels from top to bottom in a scanning stype method rather than all at once. On my Aw2310 I only see top and bottom screen ghosting at like .75” on the top and .5” on the bottom. If I am playing the game rather than looking at it trying to nitpick flaws I don’t ever notice it.

That being said ghosting in the middle of the screen is a big problem and I have come to believe that middle screen ghosting is more related to the game rather than the display. Why else would one game do it and another not?

Fortunatelly these top, botoom, any ghosting discussions vanish as soon as everyone has Fermi. That has been really annoying :-)

It would be cool if somebody from Nvidia could enlighten us what hardware/drivers improvements have been implemented to reduce ghosting.

I have extremely serious doubts the new cards (which I have already preordered a gtx480 sc from evga) will eliminate top and bottom screen ghosting. Like I said its been proven. People have taken high speed cameras that film at 200 - 300 fps (faster than the monitor refreshes) and proven the monitors scan from top to bottom and that the shutters on the glasses flip to stay in sync with the majority of the image and are out of sync with a little on the top and bottom of the montior. When this was discovered it was suggested that extending how long each shutter was closed just a tad may rectify this problem but would increase flicker as you would start to have situations where for micro seconds both shutters would be closed at the same time.

Also, top and bottom screen ghosting doesnt exist on DLP at all because these screens refresh differently. This adds to the plausability that top and bottom screen ghosting is due to LCD technology, not the glasses, not the drivers.

That being said, I still do hope you are right. I would love to be wrong about this cause as I said I already preordered one 480 and will be getting a second.

How would you explain that video then. Is not it clear?
I do not know how ghosting reduction is implemented but apparently it is ...

I think if there is reduced ghosting it´s not the fermi architecture, it´s the new driver architecture which seems to come with driver 197.17 which was used in this video and was leaked today.

If it is drivers only and not Fermi stuff then it is even better, because it would mean that Nvidia really rocks with their drivers support.
