What happened to the upcoming 3D patch to this game? Seems like a great game, I'm on episode 2. Would be amazing in 3D, but all those dodgy lights ruin it for me. If anyone who knows how to, and like a challenge, this is definitely a good game to try to fix.

AW has been out for quite a while and its crappy 3D vision effect is a known fact.
it's in the Tridef supported game list though.
look back at this old thread, kind of funny and sad at the same time, Nvidia tech people used to post here and some sane members of this forum actually believed that Nvidia 3D vision profile could fix games for us.

I haven't gotten to the DLC, Alan Wake's American Nightmare, yet. I thought I remember reading somewhere that all the fixes they did for Alan Wake didn't carry over to American Nightmare or at the least it was far worse on American Nightmare. The original wasn't too bad though, a few problems but much better than 2D.

i'm playing in 2D. For me broken lights, especially on a horror game, is a no no. It looked ok, but ok is not good enough for me ;-)
Great game though, not quite amnesia scary... Not even in the same league, but still a really great game in it's own right. I really like the 'episodic' style of deliverance too. Helps keep the story focused and to create interesting plot devices on a more regular basis. Seems a lot better for people with lives too, as they can bite of the game in chunks, and have reminders on new chapters of what the hell is going on.

You and your 2D, sheesh no wonder you have that avatar. Lol. :D
I'll get to Amnesia when I can play it in 3D ... not sure how American Nightmare plays, but the original was lots of fun. Not scary or disturbing in any way ... a rated T game afterall but it still was one of my favorite games. A very tense game at times, with very creepy effects and atmosphere. I just didn't care for all the 'nods' to reality, always referring to Stephen King, when it would have been perfectly fine on it's own. They could have even made up their own 'great horror novelist' ... like Sutter Cane ...

You'll never get Amnesia in 3d, it's an openGL title. Unless the devs invest a decent amount of effort on a game that came out years ago, just play it in 2d. There are also a great many screen-level effects that would give you a serious headache in 3d.

Don't read sutter cane, never heard of it tbo. i used to read horror when I was younger but pretty much stick to either sci-fi, fantasy or classics now. Guess its the woman in me that's grown as I've aged! That's why i could never bring myself to complete amnesia ;-)

Starting on Saturday, May 13, at 10 AM PT/1 PM ET, Alan Wake will be 90% off on Steam, dropping it from $30 to just $3. It's unclear at this point if it will also go on sale elsewhere in advance of the game's removal.

As explained in a post on developer Remedy's forums, the music licenses for the game will soon expire, which means it can't continue to be sold in its current form. This applies to both the PC and Xbox 360 versions --it will disappear from the likes of Steam, GOG, and the Xbox Store after this Monday, May 15.
Remedy says it's "looking into relicensing the music," which would allow Alan Wake to return to stores, but it doesn't have an estimate for how soon--or if--that will happen. As such, if you're interested in owning or playing it, you should pick it up before it disappears.

For version 1.06 you should set FOV at 17 of 20 bars without any fix. Fix was developed for old 1.0 version. I haven't steam version but bo3b says that with FOV 80% (may be they have change fov settings from 20 bars to exact percentage - I don't know) it looks nearly perfect too
