The lead dev at our company says hardcoding profiles proves your devs are morons.
  1 / 2
It's been six months now and nothing has changed. I've lost respect for NVIDIA. I told the lead dev at our work how NVIDIA hard codes profiles into a DLL. He laughed and we pretty much ragged on NVIDIA for about five minutes. The sooner you release your source code to competent devs the sooner all your game profiles will go from fair, good to 3D-Ready, 3D-Ready, 3D-Ready. Remember there are people out there who are better than you who will do the work for free because they are passionate for games and stereoscopic 3D.

I can guarantee that if I had your source code the following would happen in about a week or two.

1. 3D mouse cursor would be implemented and fast.
2. I'd be able to create a hook that could scan ANY mouse cursor in any game and disable the image tied to it programmaticly. Don't believe me? You're just lazy.
3. I could create movement offsets for any object (literally anything) that doesn't show up properly in stereo 3D you could move it to where it needs to be. FPS hit? Who cares at least i'd try.
4. I would create an advanced customizable hot key system that gives you control over everything and gives you depth and conv presets. This way you can instantly chance depth/conv with the press of a hotkey. You could set a "low" hotkey "med" hotkey and "high" hotkey based upon the scene in game.
5. I'd add a bar that shows both convergence & depth and exactly what the value is.
6. I'd add a check box that enables/disables warning messages shown in game by NVIDIA driver.
7. I'd give an option that ties the right mouse button to activation of the nvidia laser crosshair if the user prefers.
8. I'd open up as much as I possibly could to give the user as much control as possible in every aspect.
9. I'd talk to the user base weekly on the forum and fix all problems without any type of corporate bureaucracy.
10. I'd make it so you can take as many screenshots as you want and you can set the quality value in the interface.
11. I'd make it so even if you end process on a game it wouldn't risk the glasses staying permanently on.
12. I'd have a reset sync option.
13. I'd have an icon that shows battery life.

I could probably do all this in a week if I put in 12 hours a day.

14. I would never hard code profiles into a DLL and instead have them auto-update by sending down XML files holding unique info for each game. Then the DLL will scan the XML and use those values amongst generic methods/functions. I doubt you need a unique function for each game.

15. Advanced Control Panel for each game.

The user would be able to scan through a list of 2D objects and set their transparency to 0 or 100 and save it and have the changes take place in game. Then I'd also allow this to be tied to hotkeys.

My goal would be to make every game "3D-Ready" and send the company who made the game a "nvidia 3d vision" Stamp of approval so they can put it on their box. So what if they didn't do anything. THe goal is to get as many 3D ready titles as possible to sell the glasses.

The list goes on and on.

NVIDIA fails.

16. I'd permanently solve the issue of fogvolumes and stupid halos that appear in stereo 3d.

Did I mention that NVIDIA fails?

What a comprehensive list buddy!!! Your post is music to my ears. I'd been voicing up/requesting fixes for only a few of the issues in your list, however, it has been at least 10 years without NVIDIA lifting one finger to implement any improvement. Not one. What's sad is that I don't see that's gonna to change. Ever. I've already given up on Nvidia, the 3DVision setup I still own is just sitting there collecting dust.

Hi Jenson

I am excited about your passion for 3D Vision. Do you want a job here at NVIDIA? We would be happy to interview you if you would like to work to make our product better.

Yes that would be great. I've sent you a PM. Please know I didn't mean any disrespect to your developers. I was in the middle of gaming and I was slammed by numerous problems back to back and got very frustrated while reinstalling drivers.

LOL. BEST WAY TO GET A JOB INTERVIEW EVER!!.........

Except the one way to get a job doing security for the Pentagon. Hack them and then you get to work for them. LOL.

Seriously I hope Nvidia keeps on supporting 3D vision. I was very excited with all the new 3D vision ready games that were announced. Also, if Elderscrolls 5 is not supported. It would be a crying shame.

Oh yes, it's just terrible. Maybe you should leave here in frustration. Which browser are you using? I can help you delete this site from your favorites if you tell me.

Funny that you guys rag on him, when he's already gone to the trouble of making an auto 3d crosshair app for mass effect 1 and 2. I sure hope you didn't use that app before you came here and crap up this thread.

This kind of passion is necessary if this technology is to continue to thrive.

That was an amazing way to respond Andrew, loved the way you handled it.

However, reading between the lines, the actual answer he provided was :
No ! We aren't opening up 3D Vision. If you can really do what you claim we'll hire you, and of course : there'll be an NDA in the contract so that everything stays in house.
