Your 3D Game effect list :Popout or Depth.....or both? What Game and type of 3D effect do you play
Hi guys

So what effect do you guys like to play your games in, more of a pop out effect or depth or a little of both?

For me I found that playing with a little bit of pop out and trying to max out the depth to the most comfortable seems to be the most enjoyable for me.

left 4 dead

I have the convergance setup so the the base of the gun is just barley poping out of the screen and the depth is set to 75%. I find these settings are kind of on the fence were if i push the convergance to try to get the gun to pop out more it gets to frustrating on the eyes and feels uncomfortable and same goes with the depth. Anything past 75% when the convergance is set to slightly pop out causes a little bit of discomfort. When standing next to another player i found if the convergance was set for pop out but was set to high your eyes would really start to strain. Its a great popout effect but with depth at even 75% you really need to play with the convergance to find out what settings are comfotable for you when trying to get a popout . For me im really pushing the onvelope so i couldent get anymore popout with out it being uncomfortable. IN the end I have swayed towards a little bit of both depth and popout in left 4 Dead .

I love having the zombies run out of the screen at you even if its only slighty ,and when your standing close to other players and they turn there gun at you it pops out of the screen. For this game i found this effect to be the most enjoyable. Depth in this game is amazing too. I tried to keep my depth to around 75%.

World of warcraft
settings are adjusted in the warcraft options under stereo not the CTR-F5 and F6 function.
Depth and convergance is set up in the warcraft options under stereo as well.(they dont call it convergance sry i cant remember what they call it but its the same thing)

You know i have the settings almost the same as Left 4 Dead. I just have toned back the depth a bit to about 50% and closed the Convergance a little to sqweez in more popout. But sometimes i like setting the popout to a minimum and having alot of depth. Mostly though my depth is set to around 50% and my convergance is to about 10%. I found with warcraft that you cant really have to much popout without having to give up alot of your depth. anything above 10%(when i say 10% its an estimate its just 1/10 of the way down the slider)When running around Dalaran theres just to many players that are right in front of you and when having setup for more popout will really start to feel uncomfortable if your depth is to high. So i keep mine to 50% Depth and around 10% popout(convergance) . I found it kind of strange that you really couldent increase your popout unless you scrolled back your view. I just dident like that cause still if a player ran in front of you he would come right out of the screen and it would leave you slightly disoriantaded becaus it felt like your eyes were straining. Basicaly how i set it up was to walk up to another payer and set the depth to 50% and slowly titen the convergance. As the character started to popout of the screen i would run around Dalaran for abit to see if i could play with these settings or not. If i felt they were fine then i would try to add more popout and then rince and repeat.I did the same with Left 4 Dead.

So whats your game and effect you try to go for?

It would be great to have a small list of not just what games work great in 3D but what style you to try to aim for when playing them. Popout or Depth or Both?. It would be even better to here what your settings are and even how you achieved them.

Thanks in advance and i hope i gave someone out there some usefull information . I just want to help others improve there 3D experiance. If i could do that for just one person here i would be a happy camper.
