Layers of Fear : 3D Vision Support Thread (Unity 5 - OpenGL)
3 / 6
Man this game is scary and I only played the first 5 minutes. LOL
Thanks for the fix! You are the master of atmospheric games.
Whyme466, what kind of performance are you getting with the 4k mod? I also have the 980ti and the game is not playable for me even with medium settings. I go from 20 fps to 55fps and the sync problem is too much. What settings are you using in the .ini file and in game?
Maybe someone will eventually check out the DX version as I'd be perfectly fine with those FPS without eye sync issues.

Yeah like chtiblue said above:) The beginning of the game suffers from low GPU usage and a low framerate.
No idea why, but is the only place in the game that suffers from this. While I haven't played the whole game, I did play it until the Early Access finished the story and no other poorly optimised zone was found (like the beginning room).
On my Surround Setup (after I pass the initial room) I get around 35-40fps in 3D. That means 70-80 FPS in 2D @5760x1080. Some eye-sync issue might still appear at this FPS, but since is not a shooter and the movement is slow (you are one legged guy anyway:)) ) it didn't bother me:)
Hope it helps:)

Note that I am getting similar performance (18-30 fps, with 25 average fps) in (DX11) Phantom Pain and Ground Zeroes games, with single hybrid-cooled 980 Ti. I am using max graphics settings (FXAA, no DOF where possible) for all games.
Unfortunately, until more intelligent render processing is used for compressed display modes like interleaved and SBS, each entire 3840x2160 frame must still be rendered, before discarding half the data...
With helifax' great mod (really appreciated), the intricate room details enable outstanding immersion in this haunting game.

Hi, I had follow your instructions step by step, but 3D vision still not working.
I had :
-disable ingame fullscreen setting.
-set the “Launch Options” as “-force-opengl”
-copy the Fix at the right place
-Enable the Exe. administrator mode.
-and tweak the ini. folder as you rocommand it.
But when i launch the game with 3D vision enable, nothing happen. the game launch without 3D, nothing change.
Is the Fix still working at this day ? or have i fogot something ?
Thanks by adavance. (excuse my English, I'm French)

I finished this a little while ago, there was one little lighting/shadow effect that was a bit off but that was it everything else was perfect... thanks again helifax! :)
I just fired it up and it's still working perfectly fine here... not sure what's going on on your end. I actually have FullScreen enabled in-game and it works fine for me, if I don't the game crashes with my custom resolution 1808x1017 with or without the fix.
If the SplashScreen is disabled, enable it to make sure the wrapper's working/installed correctly... usually when it's working you either get SBS, didn't Run as Admin, or 3D, everything's working properly... I don't believe I've ever seen it 2D, unless you disable LegacyMode...

Thanks TsaebehT for confirming (I am still at work so couldn't test it).
Yes this game uses a very interesting hybrid mechanism;) It uses some part of the old OpenGL fixed pipeline and the new programmable pipeline. So, you get to use shaders and fixed matrices sent from the CPU, pretty interesting stuff to be honest and was very interesting making the wrapper work with it;)

Yupp, they updated AGAIN and they removed OpenGL from the game yeyeyeye! (or the game simply crashes when I try to run it in OpenGL...)
So, it crashes instantly now:)
Awesome is it not?
DEVS these days man... 1 YEAR after the release they still patch the game WITH WHAT? crap like this. They didn't add anything to the game anyway...
Best bet is to find an older version of the game and use that. (Bet you can find a torrent around:) )
(It seems devs are making things worse with all their shiet as the Steam forums is pretty full of people having crashes without any 3D Vision fix and in normal DX11 mode )
EDIT:
March update works just fine:) or any variant of the game before this (August) update.
Most likely the whole patch will need redoing for the DX11 renderer, but I will definitely not do it:) I am sick of developers ruining games instead of improving them (and countless names come to mind).

Darn! Bought the game on Steam a couple of days ago after seeing this thread, installed the opengl solution, and ran into the same crash problem nargorn had. Wish I had purchased it sooner as it seems like it would be awesome in 3D. C'est la vie :).

BTW, if you prefer control over constant updates, and I know I certainly do, you really need to be buying your games from GOG, not Steam. Whenever possible. The sales are not as good, but at least you don't get shafted, and you get to vote with your dollars that you want flexibility.
This game is available on GOG. If you buy the game there, you can download the prior version instead, and use Helifax's fix.
Since this is a Unity5 game, it's probably possible to use DarkStarSwords Unity template for the latest update. If someone is interested in this game and would like to help out.
