Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning
  1 / 4
I posted this in the demo thread but I figured to start a new thread now that the game is near its release date of February 7th - maybe this thread can get stickied at some point. If you haven't done so already, download the demo and check it out.

There are some issues with the game in 3D, mainly lighting issues, shadow issues (which can be disabled), and things like nameplates at screen depth. Surprisingly, the sky is already at the correct depth at least. These issues aside, the gameworld looks beautiful in 3D, especially in the outdoor areas where the lighting issues are less apparent and the environment can shine. Early reviews say the game world is huge with lots of unique environments to explore and quest in.

I started a thread asking 3D support and despite some of the usual silly comments that some people will inevitably post, it's worth a few moments of our time asking the devs to make this game look great in 3D.

Yea, would be nice if they fixed a few things. Would be nice also to see if anyone @ nvidia can tell us what could be fixed on their side so we know. Its def. better 3d then 2d.

No reason why shouldnt be a profile on release as well since we have demo a month early. However I got a feeling their wont be one.

I really hope the major issues are ironed out, as games of this genre are usually the most appealing in 3D. If push comes to shove, Tridef will probably put out a decent profile for the game, but I'd prefer to get the game working in 3D Vision.

While official 3D support would be ideal, there's a good chance you guys will be able to at least correct some of the rendering issues using Helix's mod. It basically works the same way DDD does by suppressing problematic shaders, but retains the much better native 3D Vision NVAPI performance: http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=217120&view=findpost&p=1361506

That'd be pretty cool if it could be used in a wide variety of games.

Nvidia just rated game FAIR.

Safe to say issues are not fixed. Oh well. Will still give it a try in 3d(tridef may work better). Still seemed better 3d then 2d at least.

There's a thread for the game over at the Tridef forums, though it's not very active. They got the game working by turning off post processing, but they've yet to see an official profile from the staff.

This is the reason why I can't go SLI.... need to keep that tridef option open = ). I was like I need to upgrade....damn. Had to spring extra $$$ cause can't go sli. ME3 is around corner and would regret it if its better on tridef(as 1+2 are)

Will probably take a week for them to get something up for it though. So guess I will just be playing it late unfortunately. Just gonna cancel pre-order and wait for it to work on tridef well before buying. (Will prob be cheaper) Rather wait a week-month for tridef to get it working well then play on 3d vision as fair.

Hello all,

If you plan to try the demo in 3D Surround you will see that the fov is broken:) So I developed a little patch for it:) to enable us to play it in 3D Surround. It can be found at WSGF at this address:
http://widescreengamingforum.com/forum/forums/multi-monitor-gaming/multi-monitor-gaming/19381/kingdoms-amalur-reckoning-rally-multi-s?page=2

As for the 3D aspect, I tried different work-arounds none fixes the lightning/shadows problem..

Best Regards,
Helifax

Lighting is a bit better if u turn post processing off. So I've heard, I uninstalled demo already.

Out of curiousity helifax does 3d surround work with tridef. Or does the fps drop kill to much to bother?
Btw. 3D Wide screen gamers are lucky to have you. Seen many fixes by you(widescreen). I always think its difficult to be a 3d gamer(people treat us like we have a disability)... cant imagine how hard it is to be a 3d widescreen gamer. Must be tons of work to get stuff to work.

On Tridef I coudn't make Surround to work:( Only single monitor. That is because I understood SLI is not supported in DDD. By turning post process off yeah can get a little better but nothing to significant or spectacular :(

Basically the biggest problem is a whole pile of lights only render for one eye. Fix that and it'll be sweet.

Well I got rid two different fixes to amalur(using helix's mod). Feel free to try either. One makes lighting a little more bearable. The other removes it.

Hi all,

If anyone is interested in playing this game in 3D Vision Surround I made a small fix for it:) Almost all the things are now fixed in game! Only thing it remains is the Quest Map;)) but also I found a workaround for that;))
More info can be found here: http://widescreengamingforum.com/node/19399
