AMD has locked out Nvidia users from using 3D stereo.
I haven't been on top of the issue as much. One of the guys over on the Eidos thread starting to go on about "Why punish those who have a different GPU than the one you partnered with" or something like that. It;s like being a certain skin color and being told you can't drink from that water fountain over there. Yeah one is more serious than the other but the same point persists.

So how about we try to convince them the best we can to support 3D vision and not target each other knowing we're all in the same boat.

On a side note it is funny the one sticky thread over there dedicated to HD3D queries, questions and help is full of +1's for 3D vision /haha.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':haha:' />

To my knowledge, Nvidia has never done anything to prevent using an AMD or other stereo solution.
At the moment this is the official response from Eidos :
Nixxes (official @ Eidos forums)
The in-game stereoscopic 3D option is only intended for the game built-in stereoscopic 3D support which is only for AMD HD3D right now.

The game does nothing to disallow any other stereoscopic solutions to work. So you are free to try it on 3D Vision or with IZ3D, and it willl work as well as those title independent solutions are able to make it work. But you will have to enable that through the settings for those particular solutions, and based on what some people are seeing, those solutions do not appear to work very well.
At the moment, there is no reason to undertake conspiracy theories, the game developers just made a game that is not friendly to 3D drivers and Nvidia 3D vision just does not work with the current version of this game.
The fact that it worked better (still bad) with the beta version does not mean they voluntarily blocked it, games breaking apart when the studio does not test the specific feature properly between two versions already happened before even with Nvidia 3D-ready games :
- Avatar the game's Nvidia 3d Vision mode broke apart between the demo and the official 1.0 release, we had to wait for both a game and a driver patch to get it working again.
- The Witcher 2, changed behaviour completely between v1.0 (shadows work but horrible framerate) and the current version (good framerate but broken shadows) and it's still broken
- Crysis 2 (for AMD users) which was completely blocked when the custom config files were refused until the latest game patch.

Deus-Ex isn't Nvidia 3D Vision ready right now but it could be, so stop insulting Eidos everywhere saying that they are bad guys, it won't work, because they aren't bad : they did the tremendous effort of making a native 3D game ! This is great ! Just all ask them to add 3D vision support like Andrew suggests. This is the best thing we can do.

I registered at Eidos and did my little part of trying to receive 3d vision support for DirectX 11 content. Just never expected that the support that AMD would do would only be for their sku's, since it was stereo3d in a gaming title of all things.

Nvidia's partnerships to have 3D Vision optimisations have never benefited iZ3D or DDD.
Whether or not to support the other solutions too is entirely the developer's choice. Sometimes they do some universal improvements, but most of the time, 3D Vision patches are for the Nvidia 3D Vision driver only.

I would say that universal improvements is what is needed for 3d stereo over-all. Companies need to be pro-active to get improved content for 3d stereo.

Black Sharkfr is right, it doesnt seem to be intentional after all, btw there is an easy way to enable 3D Vision, there are several issues, specially with lights, but at least its a beginning, please check http://widescreengam...uman-revolution .Yes, convergence is unlocked ! /thumbup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Try to set depth to a low value, and work on convergence. /thumbup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Nice to hear it wasn't intentional. Just wonder how the game looks on an HD3D PC, if its up to scale of a 3D Vision Ready game.

This didn't work for me - the setting was unlocked in the options, but playing with it did nothing. It was still the same, old, faux-3D with two images being created, but no difference in depth between close and far objects. It's a nice start though!

Update: I still can't get it to work properly, but it's interesting to see the effects of setting stereomode to values other than 0 and 4. For instance, setting it to 2 creates a weird interlacing effect on objects that are supposed to be further away. Neat!

Good to hear that. Are there also issues with lights when using the iZ3D driver? Ususally the iZ3D driver has the same issues with shadows as the 3DVision driver but it handles some light effects in another way. So is the game (better) playable with the iZ3D drivers?
Still hesitate to buy this game and try it for myself /ermm.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':ermm:' />

I guess that the users of other driver solutions also benefit from a 3DVision ready game as the games are developed for S3D and so some usual issues are prevented. In some cases it is even better to play a 3DVision ready game with iZ3D as in contrary to the Nvidia drivers the convergence isn't locked (e.g. RE 5). But in some cases as The Witcher 2 there are some functions that exclusively work with 3DVision. So when using iZ3D with The Witcher 2 the shadows are messed up (the same effect You get with the Nvidia driver when switching with Alt+Tab to the desktop and back to the game again).
Generally speaking Nvidia doesn't sell drivers but hardware. So IMHO they only can benefit if other driver solutions like iZ3D and TriDef also would support 3DVision glasses...

They are not bad, who is? They are releasing a game that is half done. Eidos stated that they support 3D without fine prints. It does not affect all users, but those who have a 3D capable setup which works on demo, and later find out that it does not work after actually buying the game. If Eidos is not to be blamed, than who is responsible? Those who pay for the game?

By native 3D, I hope that it means it works for all 3d setup. Right now, it is native 3D for AMD HD3D. All other setup requires a registry hack which may lead to data lost, and corruption of OS. Who is reasonable if a user makes a mistake and ended up with a broken OS? I know hacking games are illegal, but then why do user needs to hack the game's registry value if it is suppose to be NATIVE?

Asking for a feature in a forum is as good as QQ quietly. NOTHING will be done. In fact, the quote you had explained it, "The in-game stereoscopic 3D option is only intended for the game built-in stereoscopic 3D support which is only for AMD HD3D...". For any other solutions, FIY.
