Official 334.67 Driver Thread for New 3D Vision Game Support Feedback
  7 / 17
@SteveK Just want to thank you for taking some time to interact with the 3D community. I also want to thank Nvidia for this new feature that can be a very nice addition to the future. You never said this was all Nvidia was planning on doing for 3D in DX11 games. You just welcomed a new feature & it should be appreciated. Also no one has mentioned that this 3d method also offers better performance than Real 3d. I would like to see this new 3d method added as a hotkey that we can turn on & off in any DX9-DX11 game. Meaning if I was playing a game that was very demanding I could just hit ctrl F1 & then this 3D mode kicks in. This would get used all the time by people with low end machines or people who really want high fps. This could also potentially get used in the future by people who have a 1440 or 4K monitor for a nice mix of visual quality, 3d, & performance. The reality is for people who really love 3d this is way better than 2d. I really hope Nvidia doesn't throw in the towel on this because this can be a very nice addition. Please do not just have this be for certain games. Make the feature available for all DX9-11 games. I think a good term for the new feature should be "Smooth 3D". You guys can go ahead & use that haha. Now that we have this new & always improving Smooth 3d it is time to start on the 1440 120hz GSync Lightboost display!

I haven't tried this or installed the new drivers, but I really do appreciate the effort. I DO completely understand the differences between this solution and the 3D Vision we are used to, and I, for one, would prefer cardboard cut-outs at different depths than no 3D at all. Especially when playing platform, jumping type games, I have found it almost crippling to try and do this in 2D now. So thank you VERY much NVidia for at least doing SOMETHING. I appreciate it and look forward to more progress.

@SteveK Just want to thank you for the news, it's great to see a moderator bless our forums occasionally. I have not tried the new "fake 3D" yet so I won't comment on whether it's better than nothing, better than playing in 2D etc. Some users are reporting that it's better than the competition, so at least that's a good move. By now I think it's quite clear what the general opinion is, and if you're in any position to relay our sentiments to the decision makers at nVidia, it's worth noting two things: (I'm going to asume you're not stereoscopically blind and that you know how to use the convergence hotkeys and Helix fixes) 1. Nvidia's current implementation of stereovisuality in games is the best in the world. That, coupled with the fact that s3D is the greatest revolution in entertainment, give Nvidia an unprecedented advantage over any of their rivals (probably only AMD counts). DO NOT LET THIS SLIP AWAY - DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT. And we'll just keep giving you guys our hard earned cash. 2. Some years ago, the internets revealed one of the most powerful forces in the world today: CROWDSOURCING. Almost never again can one company/developer/conglomerate hope to accomplish anything more impactful than a bazillion crazy hungry fans. The best examples so far are Skyrim's moddings scene (whose products largely surpass the original game in narrative/visual/gameplay terms), the crazy money pouring in Star Citizen's coffers just because there has not been a decent space sim in ages, and of course, the s3D fixes of our own champion - Helix). We understand that, due to the fact that we don't seem to be a client-base lucrative enough to have major or any revenue impact, neither the game developers nor Nvidia are fiscally confortable to absorb the costs of 3D-ready. If games could not be played at all without s3D, of if the masses would not almost singularly ask for multiplayer shooters, or if the PC gamers would surpass console gamers as source of revenue ... I'm sure all games would be s3D-ready. So to conclude point 2 (sorry for the length), PLEASE COME OUT WITH SOME TOOLS/WRAPPER/SHADER FIXER, and let the community incur the cost for the 3D fixes and the efort of championing your marvelous technology, through word-of-mouth and demo sessions - with REAL 3D graphics, not the cra.. I mean stuff that the proud engineers at Nvidia just unleashed upon this starving 3D community. I'm sure plenty of other boys and girls on these forums have told you the same words and made the same two points above, many times. Let's hope Nvidia will see the light soon. The technology/competitive advantage I was talking about at point 1 will be put to the test when VR devices become common. They seem to be paradigm-changing, in the context of the entertainment industry. Thank you again, SteveK, hope to see you around more frequently! Happy 3D gaming, all, and special thanks to Helix, Chiri, Eqzitara, Mike_AR69, Flugan and the rest.

Ok I had a chance to try it out last night with Far Cry 3, I wasn't too impressed but I am currently playing the game with Helix's fix so it's bit unfair ... I was more impressed with DHR's AC4 screenshot. As I don't have any of the other games besides Bioshock Infinite and it wasn't installed I decided to try to try this out on another DX10/11 game. So I used NVIDIA Inspector to add Alan Wake's American Nightmare to all the profiles listed in the OP, it never used the fake 3D ... who knows maybe renaming the EXE might have worked ... not sure. Anyway, can this 'feature' just be added, like suggested earlier, as a toggle-able function. Can it be made to work with any DX10/11 game? Better yet made to work with more than just DX10/11 games? There's a lot of DX9 games that could 'benefit' from this, like Unity games. And an OpenGL version would be greatly appreciated ... Amnesia ... Tiny & Big ... Rage ... The Evil Within (if it doesn't end up supporting S3D) My biggest issue with all of this (besides the 'excellent' profiles ... lol) is I'm worried it's taking time/money/focus away from more important things and issues, SbS support(?), (3D) Surround issues, etc, etc. ... and all the other little things that keep creeping up to otherwise ruin the experience ... Like somewhere along the line 'Generic 3D DLP' (which supports 5.1 audio) went missing so I've lost the ability to plug into the DLP TV enable 'Stereoscopic 3D', plug back into my Onkyo RCVR, choose 'Generic 3D DLP' and still get 5.1 sound ... I've mentioned it a couple times in the Official Driver threads and been ignored. Now through much trial and error I've had to resort to plugging into both the TV and the RCVR and 'Extend'ing my desktop to get 3D to the TV and 5.1 to the RCVR, any other way and 3D gets 'disabled', or set to 3D Vision Discover ... I have an emitter, I have the 'sync' cable between the emitter and the TV ... there's just no reason why I shouldn't be able to choose what ever display 'output' I want to ... now my 'desktop' is two screens wide and the mouse keeps going off onto the 'imaginary' screen ... I may have to move it. Anyway, PLEASE keep working on 3D Vision and making it BETTER, adding features, fixing issues, etc ... I know 3D didn't 'explode' like it should have but I'm sure it's picking up thanks to the support of the community, Helix Mod, and the modders ... and word of mouth, although it's really hard to describe just how GOOD it can look when it's properly setup. :D
You are welcome - thank you for your post. Wanted to snip out the part about performance as that is also an intended benefit of this feature over standard 3DV support - that it can greatly increase performance for people with machines that struggle to run 3D at acceptable levels. Making it a toggle feature is under discussion, so please stay tuned.

Needs to fix huds for almost all games. There is no point to even play with 3D on 15% depth :P I don't have a single game on the list so I can't give feedback xD

Hopefully at some point you do that, it would raise 3d vision and this announcement to a whole new level in my opinion. I would use this feature pretty often, especially when gaming on my laptop. I've been hoping exactly this feature for quite some time(well, we have it now, but its under your control which games use it). Im also tridef user which has this optional "virtual 3d" feature, and from what i read on their forums, lots of people use it. Myself included.
3D vision surround only works on one monitor for me
Aye same here:) but if you quit the game and restart it it should work (THE OLD way) meaning everything is 3D "native" rendered ( 3D Vision Automatic). Also the main announcement said it clear that 3D Vision Surround is not currently supported (and most likely will be added a bit later:) ) I also did a bit of testing... I don't know what was more painful for me...going from Surround to one screen:)) or trying this method:)) I think the 1st:))) Is defo not the "dual camera" proper stereo 3D, but is not bad either. I do believe that in time the algorithm will improve even more. I would rather play using this any game rather than 2D....Now only if surround comes sooner:)) Still, we shouldn't forget about the possibility of manually fixing each shader for true stereoscopic rendering;)) (For those who have the hardware to push it:) )

Thought I would post a few more courtesy pictures for people who don't own the games or haven't installed the new drivers. I would say this 3d is on par or slightly better than Cryteks 3d solution. Not saying this is better than S3d or this is all the community needs. However we are in a lot better place for future DX11 games than we were on Monday! Hi I have taken some comparison shots of Shogun2, with Nvidia's new driver verses Kankgeforce's excellent fix. http://speedy.sh/t8cHD/Shogun2nvidiaVcommunity.zip Verdict: I think nvidia's driver holds up well! The main gripe I have is the lack of depth. Kank's fix is the better but that is because it allows 100% depth. @SteveK Is it possible to increase depth? If you look at the sun in both versions you can see the depth is quite low. Not super low but low enough to bother me. :D

@SteveK@NVIDIA: I'm glad to hear, that Nvidia still works on 3DV. But I can't chum up with those Virtual-3D solutions, sorry. On a school-mark system where 1 is best and 6 is worst, the Virtual-3D get's 3-4 in my eyes. The profiles should be rated as "moderate". Or you should rate them as "Virtual-3D" or something like this. Have you seen the movie "Clash of the Titans" 3D (2010) ? It was a bad 3D-Conversion. The Virtual-3D takes the same direction. There are always distracting or unnatural objects on the screen and I doubt that a complex algorythm can work around this glitches. Maybe you should better go the way like Helix does. The Bioshock Infinite Fix he wrote is really awesome and impressing. I wish it would be easier to fix the shaders of a DX11 game.
