DPL-Link glasses recommendations?
Well, I finally bought myself a projector (BenQ W1070 that I've seen recommended so much here). At the moment I'm using it with the ASUS EDID override so I can use my laptop's built in emitter and the nvidia glasses, which is working fine, but I'd like to get a couple of pairs of DLP-Link glasses so I can use it without the laptop having to be in line of sight, and so I can use it with other sources that can produce 3D HDMI output (e.g. blu-ray player, Linux based media PC). Do people have particular suggestions on which glasses to go for, or any I should avoid? Or more generally what should I be looking for? Good ergonomics? Rechargeable battery? Anything else?

I'm using the Optoma ZD302. Light, comfortable, blocks the red completely, good battery life, and very little ghosting (there is some if you're at an angle). I have two pairs, but I've had to replace one twice. The first time it just stopped working, and the second didn't block the red completely. Those issues presented pretty quickly though, and for about the past 8 months I've had no problems.

Those don't look bad, might pick a pair up myself. I've been mostly using cheap ones off of ebay, my favorite pair are this style($23). They're comfortable, light, feel just like regular glasses ... the only issue is they lose/reverse sync on very light scenes or if the screen flashes brightly which is a pita if you're in the middle of an intense part of the game. :) Although it might just be my setup(DLP TV), I've had other sync issues with other/better glasses also. [might also be because I sit about 5' from the TV and/or that it's a RP DLP]

For any future purchasers, I've tried a couple different glasses and these work best. No ghosting/crosstalk I can see and completely block the red. 33.99 from Estar on ebay. http://www.amazon.com/EStar-America-ESG601-Link-Glasses/dp/B00CRN3D98

That's the Estar I have. They are good. Another good one are these if you need to wear them over glasses they fit better but you will have to press the reverse sync button on the these whereas with the first you won't need to. http://www.amazon.com/Signstek-Rechargeable-ViewSonic-DLP-Link-Projector/dp/B00DULY02A/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1431711310&sr=8-1&keywords=Signstek+GX-30

I got my pair of Optoma ZD302s and tried out a little last night, they synced well with the lights on and from a distance most of them have a little trouble, they look and feel great. Although the frames feel a little delicate. The first game I tried them on was Gas Guzzlers Extreme, there's a snowy level and the game always flashes the screen white. They had no issues and worked really well with it, very sharp 'open' glasses. The second game I tried was Sacred Citadel and the stereo was reversed. I clicked the power button, which is the universal swap method for DLP-Link glasses, nothing. Shut them off and turned them back on, still reversed ... read the user guide, nothing. Tried shutting them off, starting the game over ... still reversed ... had to change polarity in the TV's 3D options from normal to reverse. This is really my only issue with DLP-Link, if I have multiple pairs of glasses and one isn't synced properly and I can't swap the polarity on the glasses themselves they're pretty useless. Not to mention if someone isn't familiar enough with 3D or too young to realize that the polarity is swapped it's going to look odd and/or cause eyes train ... it sucks because otherwise these are really nice glasses, just really hate dealing with the option menus to swap polarity even if I keep them for myself.

I've had that issue, but very rarely. I don't believe I've had it happen where I couldn't fix it after restarting the glasses (sometimes a few times).

I meant to post an update to this...
For any future purchasers, I've tried a couple different glasses and these work best. The Optoma glasses have a couple of problems - sometimes they work perfect, and sometimes they don't: One eye will stop blocking out all the red light, and will have some fairly severe ghosting issues, plus it glitches out periodically (too quick to see exactly what is happening, whether it blocks all light or none at all). Since pirateguybrush also mentioned he had to replace one twice my impression is that these glasses have pretty poor quality control. The ebay seller also neglected to send the second pair I had ordered, which I had to escalate through ebay/paypal to get refunded... so I don't particularly feel like dealing with them any further and cannot recommend these glasses. The two Estar glasses have both worked flawlessly, and I would definitely recommend them :) None of these glasses seem to support reversing via the power button. So far this hasn't been a problem, but I could definitely see that it might be an issue if I were to get a few more pairs for demos.
