3D Vision needs a hardware upgrade

Dear Nvidia guys, The actual 3D Vision is outdated. The glasses which are included aren't very comfortable. So I suggest you to make an upgrade. You should make the 3D Vision dongle "Full HD 3D RF" or "Full HD 3D IR" compatible depending on the choice if you support infrared or radio connection. There are several companies that support this standard. So we could use glasses of our choice with 3D Vision. Regards

We've been begging Nvidia to open up 3D Vision drivers to other types of hardware and manufacturers, and unlock their drivers to allow us to use custom settings and 3D displays for years. We're still waiting... and hoping.

I thought that 3D Vision can work in Full HD if monitor/projector support it (120Hz).

And while your complying with Steve's requests today, might as well add in full 1080p support for HDMI 2.0. Oh and give a few jingles to TV manufacturers still producing 3DTVs and convince them to add in checkerboard support would ya? Looks like full 1080p, thanks. K Nvidia? There can always be improvements. Higher (and lower too, for fun) official refresh rates for 3D would be a nice upgrade. I have confirmed that the glasses and emitter can already work from 64Hz (well, I didn't check 63Hz, but 62Hz for sure doesn't work) to 165Hz (I don't have a 240Hz monitor to test higher than 165Hz). We just need something with better response times than TN panels to avoid ghosting at over 120Hz, like OLED. Currently, I can force refresh rates other than 100Hz and 120Hz, but they use ULMB instead of Lightboost, so I have more crosstalk, and only up to 125Hz (144Hz to 165Hz can't even use ULMB in my monitor). Also G-Sync + strobing (with many strobe length options) + 3D Vision would be great, but I don't know if the emitter and glasses can handle variable refresh rate. I tried to force something like this once but the monitor wasn't truly using G-Sync even if the OSD said it was enabled. Imagine G-Synched 3D that reaches 120Hz per eye, without repeated frames, no input lag and no ghosting/crosstalk.

I think we will all be waiting till the next time they try to resell the next "gimmick" in 3D probably next time around will be when someone finally comes up with a real glasses free consumer option. and ... this makes me sad. I long for a world with no ghosting. People suck, haha.

You cannot just run 3D vision with any 120Hz 2D display, you need extra electronics and the the display's firmware must be specially configured for 3D.

120Hz is one of the technical requirements for frame sequential 3D with active shutter glasses, but it is not sufficient. You cannot just run 3D vision with any 120Hz 2D display, you need extra electronics and the the display's firmware must be specially configured for 3D.

I only like to use better glasses. So the support of it would be good. The missing 3D standards for HDMI are not Nvidias fault. But a Displayport Support for 3D on 4K and HDR, HFR would be nice. Till now we aren't able to see "The Hobbit" like it was shot. Billy Lynn is even harder cause of 120 fps.

New, comfortable glasses (I had to wrap electrical tape around the arms of the Vision 2 glasses and they still hurt my temples after 1-2 hours of use in conjunction with Astro A40's) and a driver side update that allows for more than 60 FPS now that 240 Hz monitors are a thing would be nice. 60 FPS is the bare minimum I can stand and it's making 3D Vision look and feel long in the tooth (hell just being able to run my games at 72 FPS with my 144 Hz monitor would be a massive improvement). You can, in a certain way. For proper 3D you need strobing, and only the new 240Hz monitors can use ULMB at 144Hz (edit: some monitors have their own blur reduction at 144Hz too, like BenQ). It must not be exactly a problem with the number of cores. With The Witcher 3 and Deus Ex MD, I experienced a 70% fps gain when I went from an i5 4670K at 4.3GHz to an i7 7700K at 4.9GHz (from 40fps to almost 70fps in 3D, more or less). Other games like FFXIII-2 barely improved (just the IPC and clock improvements, which were around 25% in total).

And uncomfortable :p. If there were a simple checkbox in the Nvidia Control Panel to change the eyes, it would be great.
