lo all, newbe here with a few questions if i may
lo all,
i am new to the whole 3d thing and just want to say hi, ... now that my headache is starting to clear up a bit.
after installing a freezer-sized graphics card with dito powerneeds and going through setting up drivers, emitter, funny glasses and all that, i got my first wow moment. that was awesome!
watching in 3d really looks like going to an imax theatre, games are great and my kids think im cool (for at least a few weeks)

it took me a while though to figure out how things work in 3d, but learned a few things:
- you have to install silverlight to watch online content
- 3d content is somewhat hard to find, exept for games and those do look good
- spinning the wheel on the emitter gives popping-out headaches but no popping-out images
- i learned a new word: convergence
- convergence is for very good reasons- wich are secret to me- hidden in the advanced options menu
- you can ingame, change settings via keyboard keys. you do need to know that there is a secret timing to this: pressing the keys will sometimes react in 10 secs but sometimes it takes 20 secs or more. i will however break the secret code to this.
- there is youtube 3d! yeah!.... i just need to paint my 150 euro glasses red and blue to watch those in 3d

i do now have a magnificant way of playing my favorite games. all does look beatifull.
a note though to mr and mrs nvidia: please do mention convergence in your guidebook and do mention silverlight please.

also have a few questions for the forum, if i may:
- the nvidia control panel recognizes several games i have installed, but mostly fails to do so. is that because they are in my programs(x86) folder? and is there a way to show the panel they are really there?
- i have seen mentions of renaming programs to something nvidia has setups for in 3d (two worlds 2 thread). i can just rename the exe in the programs folder and all be ok?
- im currently playing two worlds 2. looks very nice after i learned a bit about convergence. close up, everything is sharp but deeper in the view things are more blurred..any ideas? depth is at 15% and i have convergence up to the point my characters staff is unseparated without glasses. (more secret settings mayhaps?)

sorry for my bad english

oh, forgot:
have
quad core
win 7
geforce 460
lg w2363d monitor

No!! Bad newbie! No biscut!

Instead, get the YouTube downloader or something like it. That will let you download the video which you can then open up with NVIDIA's 3D Vision Video Player.

Nope, something else is happening. Games that are OpenGL will not run. Older games (pre-DirectX 9) won't kick in, either. You will see these in NVIDIA's list as working though, because they used to work under NVIDIA's old solution and they haven't bothered to clean the list up for the current solution.

NVIDIA has set up some special settings for some games and I think it looks them up by checking the name of the program against its list. Renaming the program will trick it into using another game's profile. It might trick other programs, too, like the game's uninstall program or your desktop shortcut so don't expect this to be a trivial thing.

Oh man - here I am, sitting in the USA where we don't get Two Worlds 2 for another month or so, and now you want HELP? /wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />

The blurring might be a fancy graphic feature called Depth of Field. (It seems to be something developers like a lot more than players - kinda like lense flare a few years back.) See if you can find it in the game's graphic options. If you can, turn it off.

being american do has its downsides am afraid, having two worlds few months after the rest of us is a major one i guess.
the DOF feature was indeed causing the trouble, thanks alot. was easy to disable ingame.

What youtube downloader would you recommend? Do you have to set the 3D setup to something in particular first.... wish there was a tutorial on this. A google search didn't turn up much.

Well, YouTube Downloader seems to work well. Paste in the URL of a YouTube video page (like, say, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PQ18_pN7u6I ), select the size, and download it. Open the 3D Vision Video Player and drag the video on top of it and it should play...

...Unless you don't have the codec to play it. Then you've got to either try and find a codec for the video type or convert the video. The YouTube downloader will convert videos but, by default, it makes them very small. If you want to use it, be sure to use the "manual conversion" and remove the -s parameter completely so the video stays the same size. You probably want a higher bit rate, too.

keepvid.com worked great for me. No need to install anything and provides direct links for various resolutions.
