nvidia, to be honest: 90% of game players, stereo comunnity, and millions of normal users are NOT intrested in your SLI, your race for fastest cards, and all that bullcrap... We are NOT excited with this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Games, even SUPER FAST, are not in 1% exciting as even old ones with stereo3D !!!!!!! If there is someone with brain, listen to this, becouse its 100% truth.......

I bet your probably wrong about this, in the quest for the ever higher bench mark which is the norm in the over clocker community, there will be a strong following of SLI users probably higher than Stereo3D users just like back in the day of the Voodoo cards.
Until it’s a simple case of picking up some 3D glasses from a high street shop, Stereo will only appeal to a group of enthusiasts who bother to take the time to research and source the right parts. Also with a lot of games Stereo needs some tweeking to work properly, and that doesn’t appeal to those with short attention spans. As far as they are concerned if it doesn’t work out of the box, then it’s rubbish.

Well sourcing the right parts is a matter of having a Nvidia graphics card and one of several shutter glasses. So if you have 5 minutes you’re done and ready for stereo 3D.
There is very little to no tweaking needed to run a game in stereo 3D. Although you can do some tweaking to suit your own preferences, it really is not necessary.

I think that more people care about SLI, simply because thats what they're being told to care about through advertising.
Also it's easy for people to imagine that having 2 graphics cards gives higher FPS scores, which is something we all want, but not so easy to imagine what having a differeent display for each eye does for your gaming experience.
I know I'd personally choose both FPS increase and stereoscopic display, if I could.
If nVidia pushed stereo instead of SLI they'd be shooting themselves in the foot, as they dont make shutterglasses, or 3d Monitors. They make graphics chips, and that's what they are trying to sell more of with SLI.
It's just a shame for the end user who never gets to play in stereo because they never heard about it, or did hear and didn't believe it could be that amazing.
Nvidia also have pretty much a monopoly of the stereo users. ATI don't have stereo drivers like nVidia does, and the generic ones eDimensional make are frankly, rubbish in comparison. If nVidia went all out promoting stereo, I'm sure ATI would be hot on there heels with a stereo driver of there own. Nvidia would've paid for the publicity campaign. Free ride for ATI. If nVidia keep stereo on a low key, they retain their monopoly on this growing user base.

2 Cents - As much as I respect the OP, I think you are wrong. SLI is interesting to me, and if the drivers will someday arrive, I am sure I would go this route. Makes me remember my ATI MAxx cards from days gone by (though I never had stereo3D with them). I doubt I will see stereo3D wil SLI for sometime, by why not hope for the best. Now, back to the OP's other ideas (dual screen/mirrored 3D and now LCD support directly with Nvidia drivers).

I'm totally into SLI, and I am hungry for a driver release that adds SLI support for the 3D Stereo Panel. I have an Athlon 64 4000+ and dual 6800GTs in SLI and I feel there is a genuine benefit to SLI and stereo gaming, in that having the second video card can help pick up the slack and make up for the framerate drops when doing stereo gaming. Think of it that way. Theoretically, it's a happy marriage. I just want it to happen SOON.
Y'know, we people with SLI setups are all looking for good spinoffs from investing in this new technology. I'm personally not interested in humungous 3D Mark scores or benchmarking, I just wanted rapid framerates for Doom 3 and Painkiller and Far Cry and all the games I love playing - at high resolution and high details. Stereo gaming would be one hell of a good positive spinoff for us SLI folk and surely it wouldn't be too much of an ask to include this support in the next Nvidia driver release. And sooner rather than later. This is a plea. :'(

Cummon guys, this isn't very fair to either side. Its like comparing oranges to apples. Thye are both good in their own right.
I think what the first poster tried to comment on was that most people do know about SLI and wouldnt purchase another card for SLI if they had the choice. Of all the nVidia cards sold, only the most hardcore gamers buy SLI, which is around 8%. This does not mean that SLI is bad, Its not, I love it myself, I had the first SLI Voodoo2 boards when they were out. It just means that people would rather spend their money on something other than get another card to SLI, which frequently means also having to buy another mobo, CPU, RAM.
And I do not think its fair either to say that you are not interested in stereo. Its like literally saying "I dont like living my life with 2 eyes, id rather just have 1, because i don't like depth preception". Just because you dont know about stereo (from the arrogant tone, you clearly have never even tried the real thing, and i dont mean red blue pop out pictures), or don't have it, dont know where to start, or can'r get it to work, doesnt mean that its bad, or that noone is interested.
And what exactly does the advertising budget have to do with how good a product is? You mean you actually believe what adverts tell you? surely not.
I remember a few years back, Intel's advertising budget was larger than AMD's entire revenue. At the time AMD processors were far superior to Intel processors, as is the case now. Did that mean that AMD was bad? SLI is "popular" BECAUSE of the advertising, its not being advertised BECAUSE its popular... why would anyone want to waste money advertising something that is already popular?
This is realy turning into a flame war. We are not here to argue or flame. We are here to simply open your eyes. When open, if you shoose to not see what is in front of you, then thats your business.

You are right! Pong was the ultimate games as far as gameplay is concerned. Probably because it was the first video game ever.
I also have to pay tribute to Arkanoid, digger, Alley Cat and many others that my 8088 and ATi CGA offered me. Glory days of a past I ''ll sweetly remember.
It is true that old games were more enjoyable but we were younger then, and for their time, they were the most technologically advanced games. Considering this, it is just the same thing now. A kid now that plays a 3D game with 32-bit color and 1600x1200 resolution feels exactly like we did when playing arkanoid on a 4.7MHz PC and a green monitor.
