I can't think of any off the top of my head guys but why don't we post pictures of 3d glasses we find comfortable.

What I'd like to see changed is this:
Frame flattening: Slightly change how the lens are framed around the nosepiece. Currently at the center the black frame is elevated slightly out from the lenses at the front and a bit more from behind. This results in my eyes picking up something black right between them and can end up ruining the "3d immersion" factor as I've to constantly retrain myself to ignore the inner peripheral vision. So just make the center frame as thin as the lens and I'm satisfied. Might not matter as much to monitor users, but I use a large projector screen myself so as my eyes dart around the scene I use my peripheral vision more.

Other less important changes:
Don't really mind the frames size anywhere else since they probably reduce the noticeability of differing light sources . I can live with it. If you said "we want to make 3d glasses as unobtrusive to your vision as possible so that you stop realising your wearing them!" I'd say make the lenses wider (from top to bottom) because at it is they really make you aware your wearing the goggles until you get really sucked into a game. There would probably be a lot less antagonism towards 3d from techno-know-it-alls if the experience was as natural as possible. Of course you'd lose some style points. Maybe offer larger sizes to the more practical/less-socially-conscientious, but show the standard size in the press releases/review-samples?

Curved-lenses would probably be a better way to eliminate the frame-effect as you could fix the peripheral vision without having to use as much material as the other solution and not lose too many style points. Not sure if thats even feasible with shutter glasses.

Thanks for reading!

-edit-:Removed my mistaken references to LCD tech

What's the point with nvidia making an n+1 LC shutter? LC shutters are the definition of badge engineering, unchanged since 80's !! And everyone knows how dark they are, you can't help that.

...& the less LC slime the better! MEMS displays are already appearing in handhelds, please try to adapt them for glasses.

Professional buyers using 3d vision demand the best. Mechanical shutter > LC shutter , therefore, MEMS > LC shutter.

You should consult with unipixel about their TMOS tech.

woops got my terms wrong, should have just removed LCD entirely. -will re-edit.

I wear prescription glasses and have found the nVision glasses to be unwearable. That's a shame since I'm a big 3d buff and have no problem with the big glasses I get when I go to the movies.

These are more designed to look 'cool' than be comfortable. I need bigger lenses and more comfortable nose pieces. When I'm playing video games I'm doing my own thing in a different world. Appearances aren't something i'm worried about.

I think that they need to block out peripheral light better ; Lights from BEHIND the viewer can come in and start glaring off the inside of the lens.

Perhaps achieving an even BLACKER tint cycle, would benefit ghosting too.

Oh why not, how about 200 hz capability ! /thumbup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Bigger lenses, with more overall frame+lens 'wrap around'.

Better comfort.

Have that problem too, when it gets a bit much I just put on a hoodie /biggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Haha, i was going to mention that a quality deep baseball cap provides an even spreading of the 'pinch'... and with a hoodie as well they would make you look really dodgy too lol /rofl.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

The legs could be allot thinner and adjustable. Now it just presses on my head too hard. Also you cannot combine the 3d glasses with a Logitech Headset G930(And probably a lot of other headsets), the legs are in the way.

Hi

We do try to design our glasses to fit perscription glasses.

Would it be possible to obtain a picture of your glasses and/or the width of your glasses? We tried to design these to fit larger frames up to 146mm.

For those with perscription glasses, why not make the jump to contacts? After wearing perscirption glasses for eight years, I finally said that's enough and made the jump. At first, it took me a while to get my contacts in and out, and to get use to touching my eyes. But after a few weeks it was like second nature. Just generally the field of view of contacts vs glasses is SOOO much better, and for 3D vision it makes it even better!!

hah, yeah i often find myself pulling my hood up to block out the light reflecting off the ceiling and wall behind me, which works great during winter but i dont think it will work so well in summer lol i'll have to make a hood thats not attached to a hoodie, or get one of those desert hats that cover the back of the next. Next i need to paint the area around my eyes black so i cant see my whiteness reflecting on the lenses either lol

I didnt really mention this in my OP because i realize that its just a limitation of the technology. Tinted glasses will always have that reflective nature, but it would be nice if they were curved or angled somehow to lessen the ability to see directly behind you in the outside edges of them. I assume that if there is some breakthrough that allows for the visible tint of the lenses to be reduce, nvidia would already be on that.

I just wanted to complain about the uncomfortable frames mainly.

Oh, and since my last post in here i've discovered that the glasses are actually more comfortable without using a rubber nosepiece at all. give it a try some time
