Allow people to choose their Video Quality
Hi,
i dislike Microsoft's approach to stream videos based only on the users available network bandwidth. I do have a 2Mbit connection but still get only 600kbs videos with an extremely poor quality. Please let the users decide the quality they want to watch their clips even if it means that users have to pre cache the videos on their disk.

if you're continually only getting the 600kbps there might be a service running on your machine that is interfering with silverlight.

we have found here at NVIDIA that Sophos Antivirus doesn't get along well with silverlight. we've reported the issue to both microsoft and sophos and the problem is being fixed.

what antivirus software are you running.

you can find more info about how to stop services that might be affecting your video quality here: http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=189766

I do not use any antivirus software at all on my 3D rig. Beside, the problem is that i don't get the best video quality even if the servers deliver a stream with full 2 Mbit. I don't exactly know Silverlight's capabilities but i can't believe that they don't support disk caching at all. After all, the whole concept works very well with flash on youtube....
