Quadro Driver for 3D Vision in May? (perhaps in the 185 Release.....?)
  2 / 8
Arrrghhhh!
We just sent the equipment back a few hours ago, speaking about luck...
I showed my boss the reply from nvidia customer support, and he decided to send the items back, anyway it supports the glasses, but it dosent says it will solve the "ghosting" problem on the Samsung 2233RZ.
BigLars, please post the results from your testing as soon as you can, i´m still not convinced this will solve the ghosting effect on the Samsung 2233RZ.
Thank you in advance.

It clearly states what BigLars already wrote.

Awesome.

So bear with me here, I don't know much about quadro drivers and I haven't RTFMed it yet. Do these drivers work with a non-quadro card? Will 3D Vision work with 3dsmax or Maya with this setup?

It depends, if 3dsmax or Maya are capable of recognizing and displaying DirectX stereo or not, the GIS software i use does not.
AFAIK, you will need a Quadro FX Card along with the proper OpenGL drivers to enable 3D in Maya and 3DMax.

So i have contacted the Nvidia customer support, yet again,...telling them about the release notes concerning the new 186.18 Quadro FX driver, and its supposed compatibility with the 3D Vision Glasses.
I also told them how misleading their previous reply was, since the release notes clearly mentioned the new driver´s 3D Vision clone Stereo functionality.
This was their reply:
Hello "3DforMe",

I assure you that the NVIDIA 3D Vision glasses does not work with the Quadro line and will only work with the GeForce line despite what the release notes state.

When you install the latest driver for the Quadro line, the 3D drivers and control does actually install as well but will only work with the GeForce line of supported products.

Regards,
Whos right and whos wrong...unfortunently we no longer have the equipment to conduct further tests. /argh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':argh:' />
All depends on BigLars test now. :)

It is not working! I just tested with a Quadro FX 3700 and Vista 64. The problem is that the new driver can not control the USB emitter.

Actually it does not need to control the USB at all, you must plug a 2.5mm stereo jack to the emmiter´s Vesa "3D Sync IN" and then connect the other end to the Quadro FX mini port 3D. If you purchased the european version like i did, you wont have this cable.
The only two options are, to Do It Yourself or to buy from Nvidia.
There´s already a how to DIY in this Forum, here is the linky:
http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=98067

You will need a VESA 3 PIN PLUG (Male)
2.5 mm Audio Jack (Male)
Try to use a cable only up to 1.5 m

The plugs can be easily found in any electrics shop, the 2.5mm stereo jack´s are common in some mobile phones.

I have measured the Quadro Fx mini port 3D pinout with a multimeter, here are the specs:
Pin 1: +5 volts, 1 Amp
Pin 2: Ground
Pin 3: Stereo Sync

AFAIK the new driver seems to emulate the stereo sync thru the mini port 3D in the quadro board, just like a normal DLP TV would, the USB plug seems to be only used to provide power to the Nvidia´s emitter.

Hope this helps.

Did you test this? I have the US version and I tried it and it did not work!

Sorry mate, i havent tested it, since i no longer have this equipment.
I am only assuming based on what the release notes said it would do.
Still i wouldnt be suprised if this wont work, each day Nvidia seems to me more like an Elephand whose head as no clue on what the ass is doing.

Certain steps you may want to do if you havent done already:
Uninstall the "old" Nvidia drivers always before install a new version. Also is usefull to delete de profile files when the installation asks you to.
3D Vision should be enabled as "Use nView Clone mode" under "global driver settings > advanced settings tab"
Even if you have enabled this already check the registry values (regedit),
and edit them by hand if you have to.
"OGL_APIStereoMode" 0000 02 00 00 00 = (02 is for "Use nView Clone Mode")
"OGL_ApiStereoMode" 0000 03 00 00 00 = (03 is for "Use Shutter glasses" )
Sometimes it wont assume the right value in the registry even when selected in the Nvidia control panel.(Bug?)

Sorry, but this is all the help i can give you, i just hope it helps anyhow.
Post your results if you can please.

Sorry to leave you hangin'! No luck yet - grrrr..... Took out the GeForce GTX 250 and installed the Quadro FX 3700 and 186.18 drivers on my Vista 64-bit workstation, but keep getting a hang due to, it seems, the Control Panel app (nwiz.exe). If I load only basic startup services, no problem getting into the OS. As soon as I access the CP or boot loading typical services - I get an instant hang.

I installed the 3D Vision 1.08 and got the earlier version warning, but it did detect the 3D monitor and the emitter light was green. However, that setup hung as well. This May 14 release doesn't say that Quadros are supported but I thought I'd give it a shot, having nothing better to do..... Perhaps 1.09 will be the unifier.

I need to do more troubleshooting to see where the conflict is and if there's a good solution. Going from the Quadro to the GeForce was cake, trying to go back is, so far, a Royale with cheese (PITA with cheese?), even using Driver Sweeper to remove the old GeForce drivers. I'll fiddle with the Vista a bit more before hauling the 2233RZ down the hall to a colleague's XP workstation.

More later. If I survive.

Hi Guys

I am reading this thread and wanted to let you know I will help get some better documentation created for Quadro users to enable 3D Vision support. This may take a about a week to get it, but I will help to get it done.

"Finally, the cavalry has arrived!", too bad was only today tough, after the Nvidia customer support blunt reply "made" me send the equipment back.
Still i look foward for those manuals, and thank you Andrew for your help!
Not sure if its possible, but it would also be useful to include, along with the manuals, a list of LCD monitors that can perfectly display Quad buffer, without the ghosting effect with the 3D vision glasses, this would help us users to avoid the quite expensive trial and error testing.

Andrew, I have a quadro fx 3500. I am using this with an Iz3d monitor, is this what the "color interleaved" option is to be used for? This will really be nice if you have brought back the nuerok3d option.
