I have 3D Vision 2 setup with ASUS VG278H monitor and GTX 480. F.E.A.R. 1 (the first game in the series) works in 3D Vision but I notice 2 issues: water effects look lousy, and the in-game crosshair, which the game doesn't let you disable, is displayed incorrectly. Anyone knows a fix? Anyone knows a way to disable the in-game crosshair (so I can use 3D Vision Laser Sight crosshair)? Helix Mod doesn't have a fix for this game even though it does fix crosshair and water issues in other games.

Water is busted, no fix that I know of. Also clouds are busted when outdoors.
I played this awhile back and those were problems that I just overlooked. Water and sky are relatively rare.
I actually looked into fixing the shaders in this game, but they use the pre-load mechanism on shaders, which means it's partly CPU based and thus not fixable. Although, someone smarter than me might be able to come up with something.

I am having a problem just having stereoscopic 3D start with this game.
I install it (from disc) on Windows 10.
It runs fine but 3D Vision never kicks in.
Any advice?
Thanks!
Try ctrl + t perhaps or alt +tab?
Since it's a disc, have you checked the web for patches?
I can confirm that the Steam version works on W7 368.69

I did try "ctrl + t" (I changed the 3D Vision keyboard shorcuts: for me it is "ctrl + num 9") to no avail.
I haven't found any specific Windows 10 patch for the game which is reported by many sources to be working fine natively (and it does).
I have a vivid memory of having played this game before in 3D without any kind of problem but, like you, I think I was playing it on W7.

Nor will you.
But I highly doubt, that your disc version is the same as Steam's, File Version 1.8.282.0 Product Version 1.08.282.0
So forget about looking for a "Windows" 10 patch for a game that stopped being patched long before that OS was released.
And keep in mind that most discs check for patches at non exitent websites that have long since been taken down. Patches need to be manually added in most instances for old games.
You could also try TriDef.

If you have the game zig11727, can you confirm if 3D Vision engages on W10?
I was referring to this type of compatibility

Oh sorry about that
Ok this is weird... I've been throwing everything at it that I can think of and nothing's worked until I renamed the exe, then it magically worked...
It's nothing in the Profile... I removed everything and even put it on another Profile, only renaming it from FEAR.exe to anything but fear makes 3D kick in on Windows 10... strange...
Rename it to iamnotFEAR.exe(or anything really), add iamnotFEAR.exe to F.E.A.R.'s Profile and it works...
