Has the 'turn 3D off when starting a game' been added secretly? Whenever I play a game now, 3D doesn't automatically turn on anymore (which is great) but when did it happen?

You've always been able to change it in the registry. Also just because 3D isn't kicking in doesn't mean that you aren't losing performance. Framerate will still decrease about 10% the same as if you started a game in 3D and then turned it off.

Are you sure you don't have something configued that is causing that?
I complained in the driver feedback thread awhile ago that the "Hide stereoscopic 3D effects when game starts" checkbox was missing in the Nvidia Control Panel.
Also some games, like World of Warcraft have an option within their game "UI overlay" to turn off 3D Vision.
But Nvidia was also having a problem that was listed in their driver patch notes saying that they were aware that there was a problem with 3D Vision launching even if it was disabled in the WoW UI.
Maybe as a result of that, they did something?
Also, I've had games that wouldn't launch unless I tabbed out, then back in.

I don't think so. I've noticed it since installing the newer geforce experience although I'm not sure that that's causing it or not. I also installed tridef but I barely ever have that on. The only other thing I can think of is using this:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\NVIDIA Corporation\3D Vision\nvstlink.exe" /disable
"C:\Program Files (x86)\NVIDIA Corporation\3D Vision\nvstlink.exe" /enable
in a batch file from another thread. Could either of them have a hand in it?
The resuming from sleep mode 3D vision always on afterwards bug seems to have been fixed too xD
I haven't tested the hdmi > 3D Vision always broken afterwards bug yet though.

It's Tridef. Tridef disables it in the registry. If you google it, you'll find the registry value you need to change if you want it back (though I prefer having it off by default so I left it)

Ok, thanks. No, I prefer to have it off too ;)
So tridef does it on install even if you aren't using it at any time?
Also, is this it?:
StereoDefaultOn located at [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\NVIDIA Corporation\Global\Stereo3D]
If so, can you list how I should put it in a batch file for it being off during the start of the game just in case I need it in the future?
Edit: Also, lightboost kicks on still in websites using 3D where the No auto 3D start is enabled. Include that in the description to put the above in the batch file please.
I can't believe nvidia doesn't do this considering it gets rid of the other bug :P
