Request for 3D vision update for Secondlife
Hello, I recently purchased NVidia 3D vision glasses, a 144 hz 3D capable monitor, and the 780 GTX graphics card, and I primarily play secondlife. Is there a plan to bring 3D to secondlife?(openGL program) If not, could you? There is 60,000 people who play secondlife daily, and there is many request threads on the SL forums for NVidia 3D vision compatibility. 3D vision is primarily about immersion, and a large part of secondlife is about being immersed. I think it would be simply amazing. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!UPDATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (8/26/2013) I have created a Jira REQUEST as of 8/26/2013 to add 3D vision to firestorm! http://jira.phoenixviewer.com/browse/FIRE-11476 PLEASE COMMENT/SUPPORT to get their ATTENTION All of the elements are in place for Firestorm to implement it, (it is possible!) however they WILL NOT add it if we don't get their attention!!!

That's something the developer of the game is responsible for.

Yeah, Second Life is an OpenGL game, and there is no automatic 3D Vision support for OpenGL games. This is something the developers would need to do specifically, and with some sort of arrangement with NVidia to do quad-buffered rendering. Don't hold your breath. It doesn't look like Tridef supports it either. Maybe some tiny info that leads to something: http://3dvision-blog.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=142

Hi Mike, Good news, it a lot better than you've been lead to believe: there *IS* in fact OpenGL support for Geforce cards and there *IS* a current version viewer for Second Life that supports Quad Buffering. What's more, you're actually in a position to enjoy it unlike me as you're using active glasses rather than my passive ones, see my thread: https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/556297/?comment=3858473 If you don't want to read all that, the viewer can be downloaded at: http://ctrlaltstudio.com/viewer Enjoy.

You have to adjust it all manually, with sliders. I can't use my NVidia hub. Also, I heard this is the last viewer he is going to release, meaning it will be outdated in a couple months and there will be no way to get decent 3D in Secondlife... :( I enjoy it so much. I would just like to make sure that I can continue to enjoy it.

He's released another one, just an alpha, but for the Occulus Rift. Linden Lab will be issuing an official viewer for the Occulus soon too. Also the older viewer's code is Open Source, so either way 3D in SL isn't going away anytime soon.

They say its already planned for Firestorm on their website. That ctrlaltstudio fix works surprisingly well- great 3d immersion. maybe there is hope for other opengl games as well.

Ok yeah, let me just outright state that ctrlaltstudio, made by david rowe, (third party viewer) is better 3D than most "excellent" rated NVidia 3D direct X games. Nvidia 3D team, seriously, check it out, its amazing

..and may I add, Nvidia Team please FIX the Zalman 3D OpenGL support or I'll be dumping you for AMD and/or a Rift as soon as I can!

Dalek, why not dump the Zalman EDID for one of the "Optomized for GeForce" EDIDs?

Well the Zalman EDID gives me interleaved in DirectX fine, but as you probably have tried, the OpenGL support in the latest drivers won't even support anaglyph ("Discovery")or anything 60Hz, only 120Hz flipped. The Zalman *is* still offically supported afaik. Have you found an EDID that works Quad-buffered 60Hz line interleaved in OpenGL, D-Man?

The Zalman drivers were moved to Legacy status a few years ago I thought. It makes sense though that the Zalman display would have better support since it was also considered a professional display.
