Just put together a new computer: Asus P8Z77-VLX system board, 16GB Corsair 1600mhz ram, Nvidia GeForce 650GTX graphics card, BENQ XL2420T monitor with DVI Dual link connection @ 120hz, Nvidia 3dVision 2 kit with emitter and one pair of glasses. Win 7 Ultimate, 64 bit.
Been working on getting 3d to run for a week now. I keep getting the error " Failed to create d3d device with mode matching desktop (1920X1080, 0 hz, Format: 22). I have done everything; dxdiag says everything is enable for 64 bit and no problems reported. 32 bit is not. Tried the WHQL 314 drivers and 320 betas. Used drovercleaner to completely remove drivers several times. Re-installed both normal methods and in safe mode.
I have just the one monitor and one graphics card. Have another card the same exact, due to arrive on Tuesday to install for SLI in case that is the problem. Deleted the emitter in device manager, rescan and reinstalled drivers many times. Glasses are fully charged and emitter indicator is green.
This is the first pc problem that has stumped me. Please help, thank you, in advance.

Are you able to complete the setup wizard? If not try reseating the memory. GPU and all cable connections, since it's a new build.(sometimes causes weird problems)
If you can complete the setup wizard, is there a certain game you are trying?
Is the game thru Steam, Origin or a standalone?

All the latest .net framework and updates. DirectX 9 through 11 and all updates available. I will be trying an hdmi cable between graphics adapter and monitor just to rule that out later today. The 120hz dual link cable should be able to do it.
When I click on the setup wizard, or Nvidia enable 3d, or tick the box to enable 3d, that's when I get the error. The wizard won't even run. Pulled the ram and reseated it. Will pull the gpu on tuesday night when I get the second one for sli. Would rather solve this problem first though before I create another. 3D and sli are new things for me to play with.
The game I am working with is an Origin game; BF3.

You need to use the Dual Link cable for 120Hz @1080, HDMI can not pass a 120Hz signal @1080. It is possible that the cable is bad. You might be able to use the HDMI cable to troubleshoot at 720 120Hz. Have you tried 720 120Hz already with the Dual Link cable?
Make sure you are using the Dual Link output on the GPU. Some GPUs have two Dual Link outputs, some one, some none.
You'll want to troubleshoot this with only one video card, so maybe swap them out.
The problem is not due to you "not" having SLI.
Do you have another monitor connected besides the BenQ? When steroscopic gaming, the display for 3D needs to be set as the primary monitor. If you have a second monitor connected, disconnect it while troubleshooting.
You might try uninstalling the display and reinstalling it. Did it come with a driver disk?

Oddly, there is this thread:
https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/534132/3d-vision/failed-to-release-all-d3d-objects-error/
Not the same error, but it's a weird D3D error as well. His solution was unintuitive, Riva Tuner software was somehow poisoning the system.
This suggests that it would be worth considering other video card/tuning/tweaking/overlay software.
Single monitor. Hdmi trial was a failure. Didn't really believe it was the problem anyway but, had to rule it out. It only went to 60hz. Uninstalled everything that had anything to do with 3d including dvd/blueray players. uninstalled the display, gpu and all drivers. Rebooted and set them back up one at a time. I even went to the older drivers- 309. version.
Using the dual link cable that came with the gpu.
Tried both outputs; has dvi-i and dvi-d. Still no change.
Would like to start from scratch with a clean system but, too much software to re-install.

Want to point out that I'm working with 3DVision to setup and not the original 3D Vision. It was supposed to be compatible with my gpu but, there is a 3d sync input for a quadro gpu on the rear of the infrared emitter. I have no connection on my pc or gpu for the 3- pin din connector. The emitter has the green light for 3D. Still, can't get it to work.

3D Vision on the consumer side needs only the USB connector to enable 3D with the exception of older model Mitsubishi DLP 3D HDTVs that required the additional connector. Otherwise it is used with Quadro cards only.
I haven't read up on the Intel CPUs with integrated graphics, perhaps you need to disable it in your bios? Are you using LucidLogix Virtu MVP? it may causing problems, I recall seeing it quit working with the 310 driver release.
The reason I asked what game and if it was Steam or Origin, is because you can get a similar error if the game resolution is mismatched. So the solution is to change the resolution that the game launches with by editing it before launching.
Maybe you can find and change the resolution in the wizard to match? It should match the resolution on it's own, but maybe there's some corruption.
Did you verify the integrity of your hard drive and make sure you didn't get a bad one?

Sounds like you built a new computer recently, but also have "too much software to re-install".
Did you re-use an old install off your HD? If so, that's definitely a questionable approach for a new build. There are a lot of driver level nuances that should work, but often don't.
In any case- try a clean install as just an experiment. Doesn't have to be your main drive, can be a partition or even an old HD. If that works, you can rule out hardware problems. If that does not work, you have demonstrated it is a hardware problem.

What do you mean by this? What's the difference between 3DVision and "the original 3D Vision?" Do you mean 3D Vision 2 or do you mean that it's not an original/genuine emitter?

Seems to me that he was confused, thinking that the emitter he received would not work with his GPU because it has the additional cable with 3-pin connector and no where to plug it in. In his case, he simply does not need to use it.
@leonardaj the 3D Vision 1 and 3D Vision 2 emitters can work with 3D Vision 1 or 3D Vision 2 glasses. The biggest difference is in the size of the V2 lenses.
Since you've reloaded drivers quite a few times, I recommend that you use CCleaner to clean your registry, perhaps it will clear up the issue.

Sorry folks for being away so long and, Everything discussed in this thread are things I considered and checked out. I did the one thing that I always advise people against when I build a new computer; just put the hard drives in and hope it works. Needless to say, although everything "appeared" to be alright, it obviously was not. I got so frustrated last Friday night, I wiped my hard drive clean, re-partitioned and formatted and did a fresh, clean Windows 7 64-bit install. Worked like a charm and the 3D is STUNNING! I would have been back here sooner to let everyone know the problem was solved but, had to get the rest of my software installed. I never back up programs, only data.
Thank you to everyone who joined in the brainstorming to try to resolve this issue. It was very helpful. Two heads are always better than one.

Yep, the 3d IS STUNNING! you just dont know till you see it. Glad you got your problem worked out. I was about to reply with some more advice but you got it down.
So, what games are you playing in 3d now? Is it better than you thought it would be? ;)
Dont forget to check out the Helix 3d game fixes site! Those guys are geniuses at fixing common 3d problems. http://helixmod.wikispot.org/

If you can complete the setup wizard, is there a certain game you are trying?
Is the game thru Steam, Origin or a standalone?
When I click on the setup wizard, or Nvidia enable 3d, or tick the box to enable 3d, that's when I get the error. The wizard won't even run. Pulled the ram and reseated it. Will pull the gpu on tuesday night when I get the second one for sli. Would rather solve this problem first though before I create another. 3D and sli are new things for me to play with.
The game I am working with is an Origin game; BF3.

Not the same error, but it's a weird D3D error as well. His solution was unintuitive, Riva Tuner software was somehow poisoning the system.
This suggests that it would be worth considering other video card/tuning/tweaking/overlay software.

Using the dual link cable that came with the gpu.
Tried both outputs; has dvi-i and dvi-d. Still no change.
Would like to start from scratch with a clean system but, too much software to re-install.
Did you re-use an old install off your HD? If so, that's definitely a questionable approach for a new build. There are a lot of driver level nuances that should work, but often don't.
In any case- try a clean install as just an experiment. Doesn't have to be your main drive, can be a partition or even an old HD. If that works, you can rule out hardware problems. If that does not work, you have demonstrated it is a hardware problem.

What do you mean by this? What's the difference between 3DVision and "the original 3D Vision?" Do you mean 3D Vision 2 or do you mean that it's not an original/genuine emitter?
[MonitorSizeOverride][Global/Base Profile Tweaks][Depth=IPD]
Seems to me that he was confused, thinking that the emitter he received would not work with his GPU because it has the additional cable with 3-pin connector and no where to plug it in. In his case, he simply does not need to use it.
@leonardaj the 3D Vision 1 and 3D Vision 2 emitters can work with 3D Vision 1 or 3D Vision 2 glasses. The biggest difference is in the size of the V2 lenses.
Since you've reloaded drivers quite a few times, I recommend that you use CCleaner to clean your registry, perhaps it will clear up the issue.
Thank you to everyone who joined in the brainstorming to try to resolve this issue. It was very helpful. Two heads are always better than one.
So, what games are you playing in 3d now? Is it better than you thought it would be? ;)
