I have seen improvements with Diablo III's compatibility with nVidia 3D Vision over the last few months of beta testing the game. I would say its becoming excellent. There is still this issue that is occuring in the game though. I have posted a topic about it in the Diablo III forum at this link:

While using nVidia 3D Vision, the text that displays over any items and objects in the game ( the name of an item on the ground for example ) will double and seperate further and further away from the object when turning up the Depth of nVidia 3D Vision from the 3D Vision emitter. Even with 3D vision's depth at a low setting this is very noticeable. This looks very awkward and makes the entire screen hard to view while my eyes go in and out of focus on all of the different object depths and double renderings of text. It is very difficult to pick up loot or navigate with text on the screen. This was the first time I noticed this occuring and I've been testing the Beta for months with 3D Vision. I'm not sure if this has anything to do with the issue but I installed today's updated nVidia drivers right before launching Diablo III and finding this.
3D Vision is required to view these images correctly.
When you go to the link you need to make sure "3D Vision" is selected on the control panel beneath the image. Also you may need to click on "Swap" on the right side of the control panel to get the image to look as they should. There are two pictures relating to this issue within the image album.

I take it when you take of the glasses, with 3D still active, the item or unit text is 2D (displayed normally). Hopefully that will be fixed.
Have you tried increasing the convergence so that your character is rendered at screen depth?
Hopefully nVidia will update their rating. No way should Diablo be rated Good if the unit icons etc are 2D. I am however hopeful Blizzard will sort out the 3D sometime after release, like they have done with their other games.

Yeah the text is displayed normally(2D) when the glasses are taken off.
At this point in time there are no options in the Diablo III Beta to change any Stereoscopic 3D settings. From what I know is possible I can only adjust the Depth with the wheel on the back of my USB emitter for the game.

Simple enough. Increase convergence until the characters are at screen depth with the text. then use about 50% depth or less. Should be just fine after that, and better since they'd look like little figurines standing on your monitor. I don't have the beta, but anyway thats what I would do.

Within the game's options there is nothing in the way of Stereoscopic 3D settings. So there is no way to change the convergence setting. The only way to change the depth in the game is with the wheel on the back of the usb emitter. With the depth turned all the way down the text looks fine but then I'm not really using 3D Vision with that at zero. Any Depth other than the minimum allowed causes the problem. It is just the Beta so maybe this has been fixed with the retail version of the game. We'll see.

There is almost never any in-game menus for 3D, you control it with keyboard shortcuts, provided by the nVidia software package, while playing the game.
set up stereoscopic 3d > set keyboard shortcuts > enable advanced in-game settings
Use the described shortcuts to adjust convergence
Note: Convergence is very different than Depth. It deals with what point in the z-plane is at screen depth. This is useful for games like this as it let you place the game field close to the screen depth, where the 2d elements are (text), so there is not a great distance between the game field and the text. Adjusting the depth will have a smaller impact on how far the text will hover above ground level.
This isn't an issue with Diablo specifically, 2D items (without a z-depth) are always like this (usually cross hairs, text and HUD).
I am happy if this is the only issue with 3D vision! I think we all expected it would be like this, much like torchlight is. Of course, a z-depth on the text would be best but it will have to do.

Hmm I hope that we can use helix's mod for this. Putting it at a low depth value would make a nice difference. I would try it with a beta but never got in.

My thanks to those that posted helpful information here... Using the information you gave I changed the settings of the game and now the text doesn't cause problems like before. All of the old problematic text appears at one depth but it doesn't look bad!

Trying to convince some1 I know to give me his beta which he ant using but he is not cooperating =*( .
Yeah I think its totally possible to use helix's mod for this(as long as battle.net doesnt think its a hack *crosses fingers*.) Im working on dragonage, and will release it when its ready but Im gonna make it so when you hold tab.It pushes text into depth 50% and makes it 25% transparent. It should be very accurate since diablo 3 is overhead view and once I figure out what depth the character/items models are at should be spot on. Probably 15%ish
More or less using helix's mod could push all text to certain depth OR when holding tab(classic diablo style where you hold tab and see all items creatures.) Gonna play around with torchlight when I finish dragon age. Game is so beautiful on high convergence but when text shows up I go cross eyed.

Text, hud, map is now rendered in 3d. Text will now be rendered above the item/character regardless of depth/convergence setting. Like left eye will have text above said character/item. Same with right. Wont be putting up a release till I confirm it works on release date but if you own beta and are willing to test it contact me via pm.

Tbh you can only get away with such a little amount of convergence extra. That 2d mouse is too annoying. I will still post fix but its hard to do any convergence with 2d mouse. http://photos.3dvisionlive.com/eqzitara/image/4f77cb7c378501b731000006/ Is as high as I could get away with out 2d mouse bothering me. Pray they fix it. Id rate diablo 3 at good at best tbh. They just need to do a software mouse/put text into depth thats it. Game would be great.
