Dead Space 1 Lighting Doubling
I know this has come up before but I just recently fired up Dead Space 1 again and I'm getting that weird doubling on lights above doors, the blue thing in the middle of doors, overhead lights, and it looks like anything that's a dynamic light source. I know it has to be this game or the engine because the exact same thing happened with the IZ3D drivers. I think in the helix mod profile for dead space the guy attempted to fix it but honestly it just needs to be disabled in order for this game to be playable in 3d at all. Does anyone know which shader it is? I went through the debugger and I couldn't find it.

I don't recall seeing that at all, and my playthrough wasn't that long ago. Are you using the helixmod fix?

helix did the latest patch/updated eqzitara's, are you guys using his or the earlier one from eqzitara. Also for the one from helix. WARNING: THIS PATCH IS ONLY COMPATIBLE WITH STEAM/DISK VERSION. NOT COMPATIBLE WITH ORIGIN. The DLL is a separate download from the shaders, do you have them both installed? The updated patch used a new DLL with more features, so make sure that you are using the newer one.

Thanks again D-Man11 !! TBH it seems that I had overlooked that the fix is Steam/ retail only =) It was my first free gift from Origin, and also one of the first games I tried after I got my 3D gear. So I guess I missed that very important info... BUT... Now that you have enlightened me, I found a Steam exe file and replaced it with the Origin one.. Just take a look here !! Edit: In case the picture never finishes "Scanning" It is perfect 3D now !!!

That's odd. I see the double lighting effect. I'm running the steam version with helix shader fixes and the latest dllmodpack. I might try a reinstall.

I know because I use the hotkeys to cycle the convergence presets that I made. I think the issue is that the fix needs the convergence on those lights to be adjustable like the HUD in some other games. Or disable it entirely. It's like a dynamic glow or a light source around lights, signs, and even Issac himself. The whiter the texture the more it doubles. Very dark surfaces have almost none at all.
WARNING: THIS PATCH IS ONLY COMPATIBLE WITH STEAM/DISK VERSION.
I've messed around with this quite a bit ... probably more than I should have(but it's one of my favorite games) ... figured out the hard way there's actually 2 separate sets of CRCs here, Origin & Steam(Disc?) ... anyway the 'reason' it's not working with Origin is the 'Origin In Game' overlay, either disable it or don't run the game from within the Origin app, make a shortcut to, or double-click, the Dead Space.exe directly and then the fix works just fine. :) One thing I did notice when going back and forth between the Steam and Origin versions is that in both versions the fixed VS4119BCD0 is broken(?), my last save game is right before the final boss there's a ton of blood and gore on the floor and it's not present with the fix ... Oh and the latest drivers(337.88) still have shaking text syndrome ...

Yeah, just the text ... pretty sure it's driver related, happens with/without the fix/dll and doesn't happen with 3D Vision toggled off. It's alternating views erratically but only on the text(shader) ... if by chance the convergence is set so it's aligned(2D) you wouldn't see it at all but at the default settings it's there on both versions.
The other issue almost sounds like Crosstalk to me, not Shader related Ghosting... "The whiter the texture the more it doubles. Very dark surfaces have almost none at all."... post a few screenshots of it, if you can.

I for one can confirm that the Origin version is broken, and it is ghosting / haloing ! First picture is Origin, the second is with the exe overwritten with a Steam version.. For those (few) people that hasn't played this game, I can only say just get on with it NOW !!!! I have never seen such a beautifull game from 2008 before, the fix is spot on. so thanks for that ! The UI and the map is MADE for stereoscopic use, just like the one in Tombraider 2013, very impressive. And one more thing - It is so f...... scary in 3D, I love it !! I didn't try the reinstall, but I did verify game cache and it returned no errors. I disabled steam overlay, even deleting gameoverlayrenderer.dll, but no dice.
