Considering TW games haven been very poor 3D in the past and it's still using the same gfx engine I'm not having any high hopes, but I'd still like to know. I know Rome II got fixed for a while, but that was broken in a patch, so I don't really expect a fix either......but one can always hope.

I am a fan of the TW serie too and I love playing the massive battles in 3d...
Its so much more immersive, you get more a feel for the thousands of men. In 2d they are just flat.
too bad, its unplayable

Does this go for compatibility mode as well? I just bought R2TW but haven't fired it up yet. I was under the impression it works in CM at least. (?)

I haven't tried that yet. Only tried CM in one game (AC3) and was unimpressed.
It's kind of agonizing to know a decent fix is possible, but being entirely dependent on Mike c.s. to make it. They've got enough on their plate and don't even play the games themselves. On top of that CA release regular patches that may just as easily break the fix in ways that aren't at all straight forward to repair. so..... Still, I suggested they send them a free copy ;)

I have tried R2TW with the 344.65 driver some time ago and the fix worked fine.
Hello!
I have tried R2TW with the 344.65 driver some time ago and the fix worked fine.
Thank you for the input. I'm not sure what driver I'm using but it's worth checking on. For what it's worth, I tried R2TW last night for the first time out of curiosity. I played about two hours using Compatibility Mode. At first it made me want to throw up in my mouth, but I got more used to it. Honestly it still seemed more immersive than playing in 2D. The biggest graphical drawback, IMO, was the low resolution required for 3D. 1920X1080 on my 27" monitor seemed very pixelated. I don't usually notice it except on games like this where the sprites are so small and there's so much going on. Raising the Anistropic filtering to 16X helped a great deal.
I wonder.... would not Attila be able to work using CM as well, since it's the same engine? I don't have the game, but I would think it would be worth trying to use the Rome II profile and see what happens..

It seems to work in CM mode. It has a few artifacts but not much different than Rome Total War 2 in CM 'fake 3d mode'. It is playable and better than in 2d. Its strange that NVidia didn't set it up for cm however. The newest driver simply says not recommended but when I use the Rome II cm dx11 profile it works.
I cannot get it to work in dx9 however w Helixmod. All kind of strange artifacts/images. Rome Total War 2 also does not work w Helixmod anymore for me. The way to force it to dx9 vs dx11 has also changed in both games from the helixmod writeup. Just search for 11 in the same file described in helixmod instructions. It seems you can set it to dx9 but it doesn't stay and ultimately doesn't work at all for me.

Ah, as I expected. At least it'll work in CM. I know that's not an acceptable solution for some, but for me it is better than nothing.
I had the same problem trying to force DX9 in RTW2. I couldn't find the file or directory that was specified on HelixMod. Guess it wouldn't have mattered anyway..
