Thank You Nvidia 3D Vision Community
I have owned my 3D vision set up for less than 2 weeks and the experiances i have already had have made the purchase beyond worth it!

I built a new computer in december, eyeing a 3D set up i decided against it. i eventually found this forum, and the experiances and testomonies of the people on this site are what influenced me to pull the trigger on a ASUS vg278H monitor. A pricey purchase i was worried about regreting, but oh boy was i wrong to doubt. To me personaly this has been the single biggest innvoation in gaming since i played Half-life 2 when it first came out. I have never felt so immersed and so blown away! So thank you guys for helping me pull the trigger!

Metro2033, Skyrim, trine 2 were all amazing as expected. what i didnt expect, was how amazing it would be to re-experiance older games like Half-life 2 series which i am now looking forward to playing through again.

I see why its so hard to get people to try 3D, its a big investment that you wont have any idea if its worth it untill you have jumped it. But even with limited developer support, its worth waiting for new games to become 3D vision compatible (im already struggling to beat the new games that came out last winter). Its also reassuring that this dedicated 3d community, and some of its more amazing members (helix, chiz) will do everything they can to get games to work in 3D.

So... /thanks.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':thanks:' />

Now all i need is to add another gtx 580 in for SLI so i can max those settings /biggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Yea its always good to see a message like this. Alot of us do our best to fight the HATE crowd. My first 3d game was dragon age 1 and I was just amazed. It was just amazing looking down a corridor..... and actually looking down a corridor. It was a mind boggling experience. That was my amazing depth experience. Then I started messing around with convergence(which nvidia hides... thanks...) and when the ogre first shows and starts snarling and spitting and you see each particle of saliva moving closer was amazing.
Its amazing developers don't support 3d. They put so much work into even the little details. With 3d, you not only dont miss them. You experience them.

Welcome aboard AwsomeExpress. That is exactly how I felt 2 years ago when I jumped on the 3D vision ship. My first games were Metro2033 and Just Cause 2 which I was absolutely blown away with. It is off putting for people to invest into when it is so expensive and they really have to have the passion and sometimes patience to get into it. What discourages 3D is these post produced 3D movies like Clash of the Titans and them iminent Titanic re-release in 3D.
Anyway welcome to the world mate and enjoy your games like the few of us here do. /wave.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

I hear ya, I will not play anything unless it is in 3D! I just installed the cinematic 11 mod the other day for Half Life 2 and I am truly blown away how it looks in 3D. The high resolution for this is graphically jaw dropping. The download for the mod is over 8 GB and has optional use of new character models. With this mod for half life 2 this is now my current top game in 3D and I thought Skyrim had the crown! Anyway, give it a go and I can assure you the download is worth it and best of all it is free. Don't forget the 11.05 update which is another 2GB.

I also jumped into PC 3D gaming recently, one month ago. My journey was a little different, as I've had a 3D projector since September of last year. I had a great time with 3D games on PS3, but was limited to a relatively small number of 3D games, and usually limited further in resolution and frame rate. I played games like Just Cause 2, Skyrim and Assassin's Creed, just imagining how they'd be in 3D. Now I don't have to imagine, and the results are better than I imagined. And of course, this is largely thanks to the efforts of the community. The games are the same, but the addition of 3D fundamentally changes the experience. Even though it's not my first experience with 3D gaming, the past month has been a revelation. It's sad that there's so much resistance out there to something that's so obviously good, but I'm confident 3D will win people over once they actually see it in a quality game on quality equipment. In fact one of my friends has jumped into 3D gaming since seeing my setup.

And to the OP, your name is awesome!

Congrats on getting the asus. Mine has quickly become my most prized possession. I also agree that the advent of 3D is the most important marker in pc gaming since HL2.

By the way, if you're not too keen on cinematic mod and it's rather drastic changes in art direction, HL2 Update 3.0 should be released in a couple months, the maps are being re-rendered using the same tools as Portal 2. I don't want to talk about it too much, but from what I've seen so far, it'll be worth the wait.

Speaking of Portal 2, you should play it asap, if not done already. Easily in my top 5 3d experiences so far. Portal 1 is almost as good, but has a few annoyances.

This got me super excited! can you link me to any info on the 3.0 update? ive combed the internet but i cant seem to find any news on this. Im like a heroin addict when it comes to half-life information, half-life is what got me into gaming, the wait for half-life episode 3/half-life 3 is killing me!!!! im hoping valve is just waiting untill source engine 3 is developed or something to release it.

but yeah, portal 2 is also on my list to play, i think i should be close to beating metro2033 by now!

http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1093025 this is the project's main thread. note that you should see cinematic mod as an artist's re-envisioning of the game (and it's quite good for what it is) while this is more of a technical overhaul of the same hl2 we know and love, and it has a lot of fixes for bugs that appeared when the game was ported to the new source engine in 2010.
