NVIDIA Stereoscopic Video Player not maintaining aspect ratio
  1 / 3
I just got my 3D Vision/Monitor bundle and I'm really enjoying the gaming. My problem is with the stereo video player. Any of the videos I download from NVIDIA play at the right aspect ratio in monoscopic view but when I switch to fullscreen/stereoscopic view it doesn't maintain aspect ratio. All the widescreen videos get squashed down to 4:3 and it looks terrible.

Anybody else seeing this and is there a setting in there somewhere that will fix it? Thanks

System specs are
Asus Striker II Extreme
GTX 280 SLI
8800GT PhysX
GeForce 3D Vision
Samsung 2233RZ

I'm seeing the same thing!

It played OK when I installed with the GeForce drivers included on the disk (per the instructions) but when I upgraded to the most recent GeForce drivers the video didn't play in the correct aspect ratio. I haven't tried going back to the older drivers.

Great. Had the same aspect problem here with the 1.03 drivers, Vista 64 and Geforce 295. Can't use the old drivers with the 295, so I'll wait.

Any news on this? Please post when there's a fix or update! Also I can't get the 3D Medusa demo working for me. Tried it on 2 PCs. No stereo.

for me, it just doesn't run in 3D. The receiver activates but the demo isn't running in 3D. It is fullscreen, and I've downloaded the correct version...

Glad I seen this thread, as the aspect problem was bugging me also. Hopefully there will be a fix soon. As far as Medusa, I also had a problem at first. Tried several times and although the glasses activated, there was no 3D effect. Then I tried again and for some reason it just started working. I have no idea why, wish I could help you figure it out, but I did finally get to see it in 3D. Keep trying maybe it will work. I'm using CD104 at the moment but will install 105 soon to see what happens. I will definitely keep checking here as I would like to get the aspect situation fixed it's annoying. Tired of looking at skinny videos! :P

I havent been able to get my 3D video player working at all much less the wrong aspect... trying to figure it out but no luck

I am getting the squished ratio stull as well but my MAJOR problem is the 3D effect turns on in full screen but the player dosent to the 3D effect that I need.

This works with the obvious checkerboard pattern but when i playe a video it only does this weird effect that make it layered on to each other or side by side (but you can only see 1 side in 3D, but you can siwtch the eyes) its like I only get 1 eye in 3D mode the other part dosent show.

i should see the whole screen and it should be like a double up effect but i see 1 side correct adn the other side is flipped and turned the wrong way.

I have tried every possible method of viewing and more... please help... my video player always worked with my last tri-def setup but i cant get this to work with these glasses.

when in full screen it turns on a 3d effect but no one that any human can look at. i tried takinc screen shots but they look normal almost...

but even the nvidia 3D viewer wont allow me to see the screen shots in 3D, they look normal when in window mode but when i double click it and go full screen it does the same weird effect the movie player does...

why wont my movie or 3D picture display correctly?

is it my DPI? its @ 150% or 144dpi but no i turned it off... cant figure this out since I had the glasses.

tried the nvidia player and the new stereoscopic 1.3 they both do the same thing

Ok, I reinstalled Medusa and tried it again. As usual no 3D, but I figured out what I did. Start the configuration tool and change the drop down resolution to 16x9 instead of 16x10. Then set to no AA instead of 4x as it defaults to. That is what make mine work in 3D mode. Looks like they have a little work to do with it still.

Hi

The stereoscopic player aspect ratio is fixed now with the CD 1.05 driver release. I have verified this on my PC.

Hi Rick

That's what i found to work for me as well. I think we have a bug with AA working with Medusa. I will have QA work on it so more next week to try to figure out the root cause.

Hi

I think i know what's happening since you are using a DLP. With any DLP you have to be working in a mode that supports checkeboard pattern decode by the DLP - that's the weird pattern you are seeing.

Two things:
[list=1]
[*]What resolution are you running at? Only run at 1024x768, 1280x1024 or 1360x768 resolutions to start with and let me know if that works.
[*]Turn off the NVIDIA Resize the HDTV Desktop option for now. I understand that you may have the start bar cut off.

I have confirmed this using the 3D Experience video. However, the Old Timer video still has improper aspect when full screen. Although not as bad as the 3D Experience one was, it's still slightly skinnier that it should be. We can change the aspect manually but it only affects the window mode screen and has no effect on full screen playback. Maybe CD106 will fix it? :)

I suspect that the issue with the old timer video may be that its 576p video and we may be handling that incorrectly. I will have to investigate.
