Geforce 3D Vision on ION PCs?
  1 / 2
Dear Andrew,

is Geforce 3D Vision working on ION based PCs like the Packard Bell iMax Mini C2100GE?
I am not interested in gaming, just stereoscopic pictures and movies.

Best regards,
Andreas

Unfortunately no, the GPU of ION-based systems is not considered powerful enough for gaming... and it seems the users considering 3D Vision for just movies and/or pictures are not that much so nobody cares about them (not to mention that 3D Vision is not a cost effective solution for that).

You can however use the 3D Vision Discover mode with anaglyph glasses on ION, although the results are not that good...

I just discovered that on http://www.nvidia.com/object/GeForce_3D_Vi...quirements.html
there is a new compatibility table which states that pictures and video are working on "All Geforce 9 Series". Since the ION chipset includes a Geforce 9400M, it could work.
I just want to hear a statement from an offical person (e.g. Andrew) or from a person who has Geforce 3D vision running on ION.

ION has it's own driver package. As far as I know, GeForce 3D Vision hasn't been put into it. Keep in mind that ION is a chipset and not a GeForce product.

I have tested Ion with 3D movies and pictures and it works great. The Ion i have only has a HDMI port, so it can only connect to a DLP, not a 120 Hz LCD which needs a Dual Link DVI input.

Andrew, Pegatron Cape 7 probably? I currently have an AsRock ION 330 for testing and I'll try 3D Vision with it tomorrow. Probably the latest driver adds the support for 3D pictures and movies for older and slower GPUs and I'll also try 3D Vision Discover mode with anaglyph glasses on ION ;)

Dear Andrew,
that is very good news! Since I want to use a Samsung 2233RZ with ION, I am wondering how I can see that the systems supports Dual Link DVI.
Is an ION system compatible to a 120Hz LCD when a DVI connector is on the mainboard?

Best regards,
Andreas

No luck, AsRock ION 330 has only DSUB and HDMI display connectors and with the provided HDMI to DVI adapter it detects the 2233RZ monitor as only capable of 60 Hz... :(

I have Asrock ION 330 with a HDMI - Dual Link DVI connector and my monitor is Samsung 2233RZ LCD.
If you upgrade NVIDIA driver to v190.38, there is option for 120hz LCD monitor.
So,, it works well.

Thanks I should try that, so it works only for stereo images and movies, right?

hello

i have Acer Aspire Revo + samsung 2233z (almost the same thing as Asrock ION 330) and i also have trouble with 120hz, i can only see 60htz

dannyinkorea claim that 120hz works with ION + hdmi - dual link dvi connector + driver 190.38, anyone can confirm ? i tested on my side and still 60htz, maybe you need a special connector? dannyinkorea can you post a picture of your connector and 120hz option ?

thanks

It seems you just need to have HDMI to Dual-link DVI cable, and I'm having trouble finding such, because non of the available HDMI-DVI adapters allowed me to go for more than 60Hz (probably they are all single-link DVI)...

If the DVI connector has all the pins present it should be dual-link...
