i enjoy mine very much. still rivals the top of the line Pansasonic v25- for a fraction of the cost. a downside; the computer does render 1080p 3d but delivers only a bit above 720p resolution. i have both dlp projectors and dlp tvs. they offer very similar 3d performance with the tv offering marginally better IQ IMO but the projectors rule for large scree size.
Don't you find that extra performance required for DLP TVs in order to get checkerboard 1080p kinda kills the deal for those DLP TVs versus projectors?
I mean, I went from having ~30 fps in Metro 2033 at 1/2 1080p resolution per eye to having close to 60 in 720p per eye using a projector. ...with the same video card.

yes it could for some people's computers. i personally dont have any frame rate issues with my rig- but some people dont have the luxury i do. A 720p projector and computer could be built for cheaper for sure- and is a great value for a 3d gaming system (and is a very good 3d system). Personally, im mainly waiting for the display manufacturers to catch up to really get the full benefits of 1080p. i love projectors

Well, my idea was to use a 60" Mitsubishi to replace my current GD235HZ monitor. However, that would depend on how well the Mitsubishi looks in 2D as well.
But, basically what you are saying is that the Mitsubishi is 1080p, but in 3D it only does 720p? That's not too terrible, assuming you get the performance benefits of running it in 720p.

Thats the problem...there is no performance benefits of 720p for DLPs. The computer has to push a 1080p x 2 signal to do 3D, and nvidia drivers merge the 2 images in to a single 1080p screen using a checkerboard pattern.
Otherwise they really are good TVs for sports, movies, and really good for 3D gaming. As a 2D PC monitor I'd give them 5/10 though...not as sharp and detailed as you get on the monitor. I own the LED samsung DLP from 2008 which were a little better than mitsubishi DLPs at that time.

yes it could for some people's computers. i personally dont have any frame rate issues with my rig- but some people dont have the luxury i do. Samsung 65D8000
Which model TV do you have DanielJoy?

Thats the problem...there is no performance benefits of 720p for DLPs. The computer has to push a 1080p x 2 signal to do 3D, and nvidia drivers merge the 2 images in to a single 1080p screen using a checkerboard pattern.
Otherwise they really are good TVs for sports, movies, and really good for 3D gaming. As a 2D PC monitor I'd give them 5/10 though...not as sharp and detailed as you get on the monitor. I own the LED samsung DLP from 2008 which were a little better than mitsubishi DLPs at that time.
