I noticed that in the stereoscopic 3D compatibility chart it states my favorite game, Twisted Metal 2, as "Excellent". I was wondering if anyone else had experience playing the game in 3D, or even in 2D for that matter.
Although the game is a little old now (1996), it still seems to be in the chart. I was not however able to get any 3D effect to showup whatsoever. It is built on DirectX 5, so my results weren't all that surprising. Does nVidia 3D mode work with DirectX 5?
I got the same results 5 years ago when I tried to play it with my eDimensional glasses. /confused.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
This also makes me wonder, how are the games tested for compatibility? Randomly? If the game is listed as "Excellent" does this mean someone at nVidia has actually played it?

Don't trust the ratings in the Nvidia Control Panel. It's completely off. Many of the games were once supported with Nvidia's old stereoscopic drivers (for 7000 series and below cards, before 3D Vision came along), but Nvidia never addressed the list after 3D Vision dropped support for older versions of Direct X/Open GL.
The only accurate list (still not completely accurate imo as many excellent games still have debilitating problems) is the one listed at Nvidia's official 3D Vision page from their main site.
IMHO, they really deserve to have a lawsuit slapped on them for not tending to the list in the NCP. I'm sure there have already been plenty of 3D Vision customers that bought it based on games in that list that aren't really supported, or just as worse, owners of 3D Vision who purchased games based off that list (like me, with Deus Ex, screw you Nvidia).

...Even when the NCP was sorta up-to-date, it was still a bit 'off' on many games. I also tried got Deus Ex for that reason, and could not get any 3d whatsoever! Still played it in 2d anyway, and what a game!...10 years late to the party and it was still good :)

I bought Deus Ex on Steam when it was on sale a few months back and was bummed when I couldn't get any separation in 3D mode. But, I downloaded the no-cd patch and renamed it to deusex1.exe and, viola, it now worked perfectly in 3D. I also recommend downloading the directx10 driver for it which makes it look much better. :)

Mhmm! I believe it was only released on PC for a few months, wayyyy back in the day. However, there are copies of it floating around the /pirate.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':pirate:' /> bay, which is where everyone gets theirs today (I wonder if I'm aloud to say that...). There are still a few of us that play it online (yes, it has primitive online game support). In addition, it features two "new" unseen maps - a swampland and suburbia. They should really release it again. The game is called "Twisted Metal 2 PC". Post here or message me if you want more info. /stud.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':stud:' />
Additionally, you may be interested to know that HydroThunder was also available for PC once upon a time (Assuming you like that game too).

Steam games won't execute if you rename them because the Steam application can't verify the ownership when you launch it. Downloading the no-CD patch allows you to rename the .exe and bypass Steam. I'm sure it doesn't work properly for some games, though. Deus Ex has the same problem that Twisted Metal 2 has...3D vision enables and the emitter turns on, but there is no separation. Renaming Deus Ex brings back the separation and, thus, the 3D effect. I'd try renaming it,,,wouldn't hurt. It's all just luck if it actually works or not.
I used to have a copy of the PC version of Hydro Thunder...I loved that game in the arcade.

The Steam version uses DX 7a by default. I tried DX 7, 9 and 10 and no separation on any of them without the rename...on second thought, DX 9 may have worked without the rename, but it just didn't look as good as the DX 10 driver. Once I saw the reflection in the floors during the tutorial that only occurred in DX 10 I just couldn't use anything else. My resolution is 1080p resized to 1824x1022 with the NVidia resize function since I play on a Mitsu DLP.

This also makes me wonder, how are the games tested for compatibility? Randomly? If the game is listed as "Excellent" does this mean someone at nVidia has actually played it?

Was it a joke by a Nvidia employee? Perhaps it was a typo listing a game soon to be released? Who knows..
...Even when the NCP was sorta up-to-date, it was still a bit 'off' on many games. I also tried got Deus Ex for that reason, and could not get any 3d whatsoever! Still played it in 2d anyway, and what a game!...10 years late to the party and it was still good :)
I see. I looked at the "updated" list on http://www.nvidia.com/object/3d-vision-3d-games.html. It appears the game is indeed not listed.
Also, I found this picture on the nVidia 3D Vision site:

Does anyone know what game this is? Or... does anyone know of any 3D Vision compatible games with Tanks and/or Mech.
Why do you need a no-CD patch if the game is installed via steam?
What does renaming the .exe do?
When I play TM2 off of CD the game starts, loads, and 3D vision is enabled by default. The little menu in the bottom right corner of the screen also pops up saying that the game is Twisted Metal 2, and compatibility is "Excellent".
Did Deus Ex do the same thing which I have described before you renamed the .exe? Perhaps I can rename mine.
This was released on PC? I've got to try this!
Mhmm! I believe it was only released on PC for a few months, wayyyy back in the day. However, there are copies of it floating around the
Additionally, you may be interested to know that HydroThunder was also available for PC once upon a time (Assuming you like that game too).
I don't believe it worked on the old drivers either, which is why I'm curious about it being listed now. 3D vision kicks in when you start to play the game but there is no 3D effect whatsoever. The image is the same after pressing Ctrl-T.

I used to have a copy of the PC version of Hydro Thunder...I loved that game in the arcade.

I see. Do you know what version of directX the Steam Deus Ex uses? The old one used DirectX 7a according to this page. Did you try 3D before you installed the DirectX 10 driver? What resolution are you running? I assume 1920x1080?

OR, You can skip all that and do what I suggest here: http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?s=&...t&p=1075064
The D3D 9 renderer I suggest is much better for 3D. It is A LOT crisper.
