Acer 3D Projector dead, upgrade time Need a new 3d ready device
So it seems my Acer H5360 has finally died on me :-(.

I know I could get a bulb but I'm not 100% sure that is the problem. I had the first Dell Alienware 23" 3D HD monitor and I think I like the idea of a DLP TV.

What do you guys suggest? I'm not familiar with what's been going on since I bought my projector, I doubt there is an affordable (~1k) true 1080p projector I could get so I'll assume I have to get a DLP TV or something similar.

What do you guys recommend for a ~$1k budget

Thanks!

I'm not sure what 3DTV is, and I imagine I can't just buy something like this:

http://www.amazon.com/Mitsubishi-WD-73638-73-Inch-3D-Ready-HDTV/dp/B003JH7KT0/ref=cm_cr_pr_pb_t

What's going on, why aren't there a bunch of 3D Vision ready devices? There seem to be a bunch of 3D displays but I can't tell what will work 100%.

Thanks

Wait a min. If I were you I'd just buy a new acer 5360. Take out lamp put in old unit and test. If it starts up and works sell new unit minus lamp on ebay(300 bucks). If it doesnt sell unit that doesnt work on ebay(listed as broken, might get 50 bucks). I mean you already got projector screen and set up. Doing this will only cost around 200 bucks. Feel free to get a dlp projection tv but I just wanted to drop my 2 cents. If you get one though I would be happy to hear a comparison between the acer and the tv + comparison between 720p mode and 1080 checkerboard on it.

That aside if you go down the dlp tv route. I recommend tigerdirect(if amazon doesnt offer it) They give free shipping on those tv's while every1 else charges 100+

Bingo. I badly want to upgrade to a 1080p 3D projector and am constantly watching for something better than my Acer - but here we are, 2 years later, and the Acer is STILL in the running as the best choice for a cost-effective 3D experience.

I use acer as my 2d + 3d. I mean I know its not the best for 2d. However 1080p 3d on a projector doesnt exist(past 24 hz). 720p -> 1080i(3d) is probably not that big of an upgrade but will cost you much in performance. To each his own, perhaps I am just looking at this as a frugle man. I will use acer till a new projector (1080p) comes out. Cant say no to a 500 buck projector that lasts 1->2 years without replacing lamp then only 150 for new lamp. No ghosting/no cross talk.....tried $1000 dollar 3d lcd tv/monitors. Returned them all.

Def. stick with dlp. People who keep buying lcd tv/plasma for 3d have never experienced dlp. They think that crosstalk/ghosting is mandatory.
