besides a few 3D movies on netflix would anyone be able to make some suggestions for media content. I haven't had much luck finding things on YouTube. When I do find something it usually doesn't work with 3D vision glasses, looks more like old fashion 3D from the movies. Anyway, if anyone is aware of a media source for 3D please post it, thank you.

Sorry, this forum really addresses only one media type - games. You probably should ask in something like AVS forums.
Unfortunately, 3D has been perceived as a failure largely because of the question you are asking (and some bad 2D movie conversions). No good source for 3D entertainment content was ever established (4K on similar path, with its limited content now), to match sales of 3D display hardware. I typically just buy 3D bluray movies, for those I wish to see...

man that´s a sad list. there are really few titles filmed in real 3d. Mad max was pretty damn good although a convert. It´s a fact it shows atleast at some extent if the 3d is converted.

YouTube won't work anymore, because Google killed the 3D support. The only way to view 3D from there is to download the video and play it back in an external player.
It's worth looking at http://www.3dvisionlive.com/ for some other content. Lots of 3D pictures. 3D video, that will probably not work except in an old specific FireFox browser.
There is also some content at http://phereo.com/ who produce the software for 3dvisionlive.com

at least I may still enjoy 3D gaming. I did find some fun 3D short films on the 3d vision website, but nothing worth while. I haven't even been able to make youtube work in 3D although it works in 3D on my laptop before. Maybe 3D will grow slowly since 3D TV's are a thing now too.

That explains why I haven't been able to get it working again, last time I tried it on my laptop and it worked nicely. I guess it was supported then. An external player sounds good, but do you have any suggestions? Would VLC work? I checked out the 3dvision site and aside from some nice short films and pictures the content on there is lacking the entertainment value I was hoping for.

I just found out that netflix no longer supports 3D either... if anyone wants to join my one man 3D content campaign please go to https://help.netflix.com and in live chat ask them to put in feedback to enable 3D content :)

Maybe 3D will grow slowly since 3D TV's are a thing now too.
They don't make many 3D TV's anymore. Only some High-END TV's have 3D(LG,Sony). With Samsung you can't even get 3D with top of the line model. After 2015MY most TV's are without 3D. Most(every?) new DLP projectors still have 3D.
Well that seems like an exaggeration. 3D TVs have been fading, but they are not gone by any means. Even Samsung:

That includes an $8000 4K TV. I'd put that as high-end. :->

OK. I don't really follow TVs at all, does model year really make any difference?

Samsung stopped manufacturing 3d TVs just this (oops, edit, last year) year.
Sony and Panasonic have a couple of higher end VA panels with active 3d support (from 2016) but I'd wager they'll drop it this year, or next.
LG are the only company making passive displays (on both IPS and OLED panels) but, where as it used to be a standard feature on all of their higher end models it is now an extra feature only available on the highest end models.
Seems like 3d is dying with TVs. 4K seems here to stay, like it or not, as it's becoming almost impossible to find a larger 1080p panel. It's also getting hard to find panels with low input lag and no 'Smart' features.
