3D vision problems Not evertbody can see 3D at all...
Hi

If you have had some kind off "crosseyes" etc when you were a child it is very possible that you cannot see 3D effect at all.

When people has a poor eyesight or some serious differences between eyes the brain takes control of the vision so you actually see with only one eye at the time.

One of my friend is a 3D modeller in pc games company and he doesn´t see real 3D effect at all... Not with glasses nor without them.

So check your vision if you feel that everything should be installed correctly and all hardware seems to be running ok... The problem might be in your eyes..

This is interesting since the effect seems to be more pronounced for some than others i've noticed. But without any new drivers nobody will be perceiving 3d with the edimensional glasses we've all shelled out for.

I have a Elsa Revelator stereo glasses, which I bought when Geforce1 just came out. I used them with original driver supplied by Elsa, they worked fine. Now, I tried to use them on LCD monitor with nvidia's unified driver,I feel that they working, but I don't see a stereo. Maybe it's driver or monitor, or maybe my vision became corrupted after 5 years when I last used those glasses.

Elsa Revelators are not designed to work with LCDs.

Edimensional claim that their brand of shutterglasses do, but the results are very poor compared to using a CRT in pageflipping mode.

It better be.

This is very intrestin phenomenon. you cannot fool your brain if you don´t have stereo vision capability.

as a test you can use farcry since the stereo works well in that game. Remove the crosshair with console and use the "laser sight" provided by driver. Look a barrel from long distance and try to shoot it. If you cannot hit the barrel with laser sight it is very possible that you don´t have stereosight at all. This should be tested with somebody that has good stereovision.

in all games normally you see only 2D projection of 3D world on screen and the "feeling" of 3D comes from that the the view changes all the time. But if you don´t move in the game and you have difficulties to aim it is possible that you have only "true 2D vision". it is very hard to explain like this. people that has a 3D vision can simulate 2D vision by closin one eye and try to live with that. I can promise that it will be difficult at first to grab a class from table and similar small taskes. What makes this very intresting is that those people can have 3D vision but it is based totally different kind of ideas of seeing things.

hmm... I have very difficult color blindness disorder. I see some colors and i "know" much about how color behave in world but still most of my friends have good laughs about if i describe how the world looks.

For example:
I see grey and green as same color
I see green and brown and red as same color
I see Grey and Brown and Red as totally different colors
I see Yellow and orange as same
I see Red and orange as same color
I see Red and yellow totally differend color
I see Blue and purple as same color
Sometimes i have difficulties to see orange and green as different colors

There is also other funny mixups... but... i have superb stereovision
When i was teen i had a very bad migrain problem. The doctors put me to this machine that showed my eyes a separate images. Other saw a door and other saw a house and with this "binocular" i saw them as complete image with huouse that had a door. Then the machine changed the angle uniformly to my eyes and i had to inform when i cannot keep them together anymore. At first i was very poor with this test and they though that i have some sort of eye muscle disorder that caused my migraine. Is a "cure" i had to view those dotted stereo images daily 30 mins each day and finally when they tested my eyes i could see the image clearly with the machine. The funny part is that when the looked my eyes while i was viewing this "binocular" they could see that my eyes are totally looking in different angels outside my head. just like crosseyes but inverted. my left eye looked far to left and my right eye looked far right. Aften a while the "binocular" went out of scale and still i could keep the images together so i saw a house with a door.... Well it hurted a lot and tears was leaping from my eyes but the image was clear.

It is very strange how much brains can modify the view that you see

So how many colours is it possible to see in stereo?

Since a pixel can have two colours at the same time (one for each eye).
My teore is that the brain mix the two colours. You can see this if you turn
of antialias and run a game in stereo you will still get the antialias effect.

So how many colours is it possible to see on a monitor with 16,7 M colours?

And yes I do know that the eye cant see more then 12-14 M colours anyway. :-)

i have a friend that was stereo-resistant, what is really strange becouse in normal life, he never had any problems with describing distance to objects etc., another i think normal young man. I saw him many 3D (jps) photos, 3D games, and-nothing, he didnt see in stereo despite he was healthy man without any eye-brain disorders; one day i saw him picture with quite small 3D effect, and he jumped from chair, he saw it for a first time. After approx 100 more pictures he was trained to look at any 3D i could bring him; i think 90% of people that cannot see 3D arent just trained to see it; beside they live in 3D world, they cant deceive brain that flat monitor/screen brings extra information, and they need to learn how to train eye muscles and eye lens that must accomodate to another depth (for me it take approx 0,3s to focus from very near objects to infinity, for unexperienced one can take several seconds!). I'm in stereoscopy more than 10years, and i have some pictures that are perfect for friend, but i just cant see some parts of it becouse of VERY big depth.
