As I said earlier today in another thread I am on the hunt for a new 3D Monitor to replace my old Samsung 2233rz. But maybe I should consider buying 3 instead of one and give 3D Vision surround a second chance.
More than 2 years ago I already tested a setup with 3 Asus VG278H monitors (because this model got a lot of hype for its 3D-capability at the time) and was totally distracted by the monitor's bezels which really took me out of the immersion.
I know this is a very specific question but which monitor would you recommend for a 3-monitor 3D Vision Surround Setup (anything with remarkably thin bezels?) But even if it's not a thin-bezel model what is your pick for best 3D-Vision-Surround-monitor?
Helifax...anyone?

Surround can be a problem depending on the outputs on your GPU. Since you most likely only have 2 Dual Link outputs, you'd need an adapter from Club3D for the Display Port to Dual Link connection if the monitor did not have both types of connections. A minimum of a GTX 680 is required to run surround via single GPU.
http://www.geforce.com/whats-new/guides/how-to-correctly-configure-geforce-gtx-680-surround#1
The Asus VG248QE would be a good choice because it can do 3D via a Display Port or Dual Link DVI connection. It can also be upgraded with a G-Sync retrofit kit while supplies last. This monitor is often on sale for $250 or lower.
Acer has the Acer GN246HL for $210 right now, it requires a Dual Link DVI connection.(adapter required)
The ASUS VG278HE also requires Dual Link connections and runs $380 normally, again adapter required.
BenQ monitors are a good option and usually have both type of input connections.

Sorry didn't notice this thread:))
Well basically I am still using my 2233rz monitors (I overlapped the bezels of the side monitors behind the center one). Rather than buying a 3 monitor stand like I initially wanted... I bought a stand for each monitor. This way I am not confined to the size and position of the monitors based on the bezel design. It took me around 2hours to properly align the monitors (height, depth and angle) but I am really glad about the result. I did try to de-bezel the monitors also... Problem is I lose the VESA stand which is attached to the casing and not the actual internal plate of the monitor...
What I would recommend is buying 3 quality monitors (panel + 3D wise) and de-bezel them. You can paint the metalic frame black afterwards (or get quality black tape). The only thing is to look for a monitor that doesn't "lose" the vesa mount if you do this.
As regards to what Brand + Model for the monitors I honestly don't know... I think Asus has quite a few good ones;)) Last I tested was the Planar in 2011-2012 but I couldn't buy 3 of them (out of stock) and afterwards never thought about upgrading them:)))
Hope this input helps in your decision;))

use 4:3 projectors for more height is very good idea! I plan use the painted wall as big (6x3 meters) screen. My Benq 1080ST projector cant play games on 1080p/120Hz on Nvidia drivers and I decide build 3D Vision Surround system...

I saw a post saying that Nvidia supports surround on two displays now and that the character is moved over from dead center so they're not distorted by monitor bezels. But I haven't been able to confirm this. If this is real, it could be easy to use a second projector for a little more real estate, without taking the performance hit of 3 PJs.

I also wondered if 2 display surround is working, would a dual passive projection setup work?
It does work on Quadros. There are a couple of people using the Omega3D filters for projector gaming at 1920x1080@120Hz. But they do not work with short throw projectors. I'll link the thread for you to check out if you haven't seen it.

I used the VG278H when I first tested 3DV Surround 2.5 years ago. I can confirm that this one is really good. The only downside to his monitor when speaking off 3DV Surround are the bezels that were a little bit too large for my taste.
But then, there really seems to be no 3DV Surround capable monitor around that also has really thin bezels!
