So I called BenQ and asked if they had a projector capable of 1920x1080@120Hz in 2D or 3D, they informed me that they did not.
I called Optoma and was told that the GT 1080 is capable of 120Hz at 1080P for 2D and 3D via a HDMI 2.0 connection.
I hung up and looked up the owner's manual and did not see 120Hz 1080P supported. I called back and he told me that it is capable of Frame Sequential at 120Hz.
Can one of you in the UK call them tomorrow when they are open there and see if they confirm it?

I've given up on talking to most of these people D-Man11. The reps they hire to man the phones do not have technically reliable information (and if they had, they would not be in that position, I'm sad to say).
I would purchase this projector from Amazon, or even better, a physical store. Under UK law, you can return the projector within 7 days for any reason - especially if you were informed that it does 3D@120Hz but turns out not to.
Personally, I want 120Hz out of 3D too. Desktop/2D gaming when required, at 60Hz, is unusable for me personally. Perhaps there might be a way to emulate 120Hz Desktop/2D. If you can do it at 1080p somehow, I would too be interested in purchasing a replacement for my ageing 720p 120Hz projector.
There is push for 4K right now. These will obviously definitely support high bandwidths for 1080p, but I am not sure if their colour wheel would be able to support 120Hz.

Well HDMI 2.0 has been out for awhile as well as the HDMI input chips capable of the bandwidth. Also Display Port has supported this resolution for awhile now. So it's not too far fetched to think that there may be a projector capable of this.
Yah, it's a given that all of the salemen are pretty much idiots, but this one insisted it was capable. But like you, I do not believe him.
I think Optoma's main office is in Europe, that's why I was asking if someone would call. The rep I talked to was in the US.
lol, the Acer rep told me that their MR.JFZ11.00A was capable. So I look it up and it's the H6510BD. Which I can confirm is not capable because I have one.
Vivitek was the most helpful, their lab tech is testing a couple of their new models for me.

I once asked from NVIDIA rep "can i get 3d vision 1080p@120hz with hdmi2.0" as i could use HDMI with my pc and geobox.
And geobox can TaKe 1080p@120 from it's HDMI input. Yes they said. And i ordered some HDMI 2.0 sertified cables and
Ques did it work ? Proves those reps don't know jack and their only jos is to sell and support looks up from sheets if you ask them anything

Nvidia supports 1920x1080@120Hz via HDMI 2.0 starting with the Maxwell GTX 9XX GPUs.
Please keep in mind that the GeoBox is not officially supported nor are there currently any displays that work with 3D Vision via HDMI at that refresh and resolution. Umm, so what did you expect?

Yes! and the 4K are still so expensive :( . The only ones that come close to the affordable level are just simulating 4K.
4K was pushed like hell on TV where it is not that necessary but Projectors, where 4K would really be a noticeable, are far behind form this point of view.

4k is also on mobile phones, but not on projectors :) But probably there is a reason for that: market size. Also probably it is quite expensive to use good optics with capability to correctly resolve such small pixels on screen.

Well looking at Optoma's current line up, they have 2 1920x1080P projectors with Display Port inputs, the DH1017 and the WU515.
So maybe 1080P 120Hz might be possible with one of them.
Cheaper 4K projectors will be out soon. Texas Instruments have finally announced a consumer chip.
Before it was only sony that had true 4K projectors for consumers.
Stay away from the eshift fake 4K projectors. They are a waste of money.

The Texas Instruments 4K chip will use wobulation and will only have half of the micro mirrors needed for tue 4K.
With the DMD chipset costing $2400 itself, the projector will be fairly expensive.
It's using half the mirrors but it's not the same as wobulation.
There was a tech demo of it comparing it with the Sony and a few other 4K projectors (pro ones) and it performed favourably.
Read the link I posted.
$2400 is not a lot for the chip when you consider the price of the cheapest 4K projector at the moment being £5000.
My Panasonic PTAT-6000e cost more than £2000 and that's just 1080p but the picture quality is awesome.
It has this silver screen tech that rescues the gap between pixels that works really well.

So the output is propably not even enabled in the drivers if there is no displays to support.
So ain´t it quite same as saying, no it does not work ?

I get what your saying but it is miles away from the Epson and JVC eshift fake 4K projectors.
If you read the article you'd see that.
HDR is also going to be really important for 4K (films at least)
Have you got a link to the price of the chip? I've not read about that yet.
If they come out for around £2-3000 I'll pick on up. Need pascal first!
