I tried the RE5 fix, and most of the textures in the game are replaced with flat grey.

I have SSAO disabled, and shadows off.

I tried this and when I run the re5dx10.exe it does not show Resident Evil 5 info when I use the ALT-CTRL-INSERT buttons. I thought the game installs to the Steam folder, at least my retail copy did. Where did you buy your game from?

Hi,

Mine is a retail copy I bought from a shop in Belgium. Is not a Steam version . How about if you delete the hkling you made (re5dx10.exe file) and try to rename dxhr.exe to re5dx10.exe ? does it show as Resident Evil then in nVidia information pop-up?

Best Regards,
Helifax

Hi,

What drivers do you have? The latest WHQL? I am using the 280.26 on a GTX 590 (so SLI and Surround is enabled) and get no weird texture corruption. Have you meddled in the registry settings?
What GPU are you using?

Renaming doesn't work with Steam - that was one of the first things I tried with the game. Steam says the game is not available when it does not find the right .exe file. Adding the other executable still makes Steam load the original dxhr.exe file. I assumed that, since it is a Steamworks title, that Steam would be required regardless of where it was bought. I guess this is one of those instances when the "Yarrr" copy might work better. Oh well, thanks for the post anyway.

It should work with a hard-link. I have used it on many steam games I have like AC2, AC:Brotherhood, Arcania unless they changed something?

Damn!!! My fault!!! Let me check something OUT!!! and will come back in 5 mins!!!

Indeed something changed for steam....Hklinks does not work anymore as they did...will check this problem and If I find a way to "bypass" Steam's check-in will post!

Update: It seems there is no workaround to bypass Steam On a normal retail version it should work thou....

Helifax, I registered specifically to say thanks for your efforts. I've been checking this thread daily to see what progress is being made on getting this game working, so it's nice to see proactive work being done. Not to sounds snooty to the rest, but PC Gaming is a lot more rewarding if you make it a hobby, instead of expecting it to work like an appliance (aka, X-Boxes and Macs :) )

I'm trying to see what I can do on my end to get your fix working, but I don't see a way around this hardlink issue yet. GL in your efforts.

Edit: Ugh, just read your update. Well I think between what you pulled off, and word that NVIDIA is working with the developers on getting this fixed, I'm pretty confident we'll have native 3D Vision support at some point here.

I wouldn't be surprised to find out that AMD asked the developers not to put effort into compatibility for non 3DHD solutions for the first month or some such (ridiculous as this is to begin with).

heliflax, how's the convergence settings in this way? Do they get screwed up depending on screen distance or the profile hack really works wonders?

The convergence is unlocked so you can tweak it as you want to. Also no weird lights and other things are present (due to the profile hack/workaround). As a result it is a big difference than the "unknown profile" that the game is originally recognized... See the video if you want to see the difference :)

Yeah:( unless you make Steam to load your file not the default one (dxhr.exe). Still looking for a way to bypass this... The only way I can think of is to use a hack so that the game won't require steam to load. It seems hard links work on some game and not on others. I checked Assassin's Creed 2 and Brotherhood and they seems to work with mklink. Arcania for example it seems is not working anymore..although it worked before...

Probably this game is different because it's a Steamworks game and the savegames are saved in the cloud.

Yeah something like it.... So the only way (until nVidia release a profile update) is to use a crack/hack not to use steam so you can rename the executable file... or buy a retail version...

Ok wait, i'm a bit confused. If I can get the 3D to work, i'll buy this game. Now, where should i buy it at? If i buy it on steam (which is my preference usually) i can just use a crack to be able to rename the exe and have 3D still work, or would it still not work?

Where exactly can you buy a version that WILL work in 3D somehow?

Hi,

For example if you buy it from Direct2Drive.com you can rename the exe file:)

I would recommend however to try it on the demo first and see if the "workaround" works for you. It should....
