Waiting for 3D vision... what to play?
  1 / 2
I can't wait anymore to get my new gaming rig that includes Nvidia 3D Vision. Unfortunately it looks like there's a delay on deliveries so I'll have to wait about 18 days to have it, and now I don't know what to do.
I've bought a few games for my collection but decided not to play them till I get to play in 3D, but I'm going insane not having anything to play with, especially considering it's summer and I'm on vacantion.
Which are good games that are worth playing now and then again with 3D? I was thinking that games that are more skill than plot based should be the best ones, but I can't come up with one...Just say your, I'm buying a few games right now anyway, so if I like it I'll buy it and start playing now.

And by the way, should I be hyped about this as I am? I never played in 3D, nor I ever watcher a movie in 3D, not even at cinema. So it's something completely new to me...Is it worth the wait, and mostly, is it worth to stop playing games until I get it, to enjoy them more?

As monitor I'm taking the bundle with Samsung SyncMaster 2233RZ.
These are the specs pretty much:
- Processor: i7 960 3.2GHz
- Gfx Card: ASUS GTX590 3GB
- RAM: 6x2GB 1333MHz
- Hard Disk: 80GB SSD, 2TB HDD Sata-III (SSD's just for OS, to have it run smooth)

Can't be more accurate as it's going to be built from a friend of mine and haven't bothered ask him excessive details, he's a ocmputer technician and owns a pc shop, that's enough to me :P

Just about any game listed as 'good' or better will be satisfactory, no 'game type' is best solely due to the 3D effect. What ever your preference in 2D, the same in 3D.

Thanks :D
But what I was wondering the most is...I have bought some games keeping in mind S3D to play them with Nvidia 3D Vision, since I expected to have it bt Friday it was no big issue. Now pops out this delay of 20 days, so I end up having to choose whether it's worth to wait 20 days without touching them, or play some of them to pass some time, or just buy another one, perhaps cheap, to survive these 20 days.
It's just hard to make a choice :(, I don't want to spoil me plot of games and such since i might just play themin 3D rather soon, but still 2 weeks can be incredibly long without gaming :\

These games are what really made me smile.
Wolverine xmen origins
Prototype
Darksiders
Batman arkham asylum.

These 4 are old so won't cost very much

There's many more i've enjoyed but the sad fact is i can't remember them, not because they was rubbish but because my memory is rubbish /wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />.

Assasins Creed(all)
Call of Duty (all)
Dark Void (you'll sh*t ur pants... jetpack 3d!
FarCry 1 and 2
Fable 3
GTA 3,VC,SA,IV
Half-Life 2
Lost Planet
Left 4 Dead 1,2
Madden 08 (have to hold down convergence shortcut for a LONG time)
OBLIVION!! (big world gets bigger in 3d!)
Portal 1,2
Street fighter 4 (set convergence with fighters at screen depth)
Sonic Adventure DX (sense of speed greater in 3d)
Trine

Btw, I'm also using the Samsung 2233rz. I've never had any problems with it. But, it's also first gen 120hz LCD, so a bit of ghosting can occurr. Adjust your display contrast/brightness in the nvidia control panel to your liking. Those settings carry over into 3d mode, and you can reduce a LOT of crosstalk just by contrast/brightness balance. Takes a bit of trial and error tho.

I'll treasure that info.
As for games I have most of those you guys listed, and in fact I haven't played some of them yet.
I think I'll spend some time playing Prototype, which I just bought. Trine looks promising but I'll wait for my Nvidia 3D Vision to arrive before trying it, since it is 3D Ready, don't wanna spoil it with 2D.
Dark Void looks very cool, I'll probably get it.

Oh by the way, do you know if Angle Project works with Nvidia 3D Vision? (It's a OpenGL2.0->DirectX9.0 wrapper) If it does I'll gladly play Amnesia too, I just realized how cool that would be in 3D.

Definitely wait the 2 weeks. The idea is to maximize the fun, and this happens only the first time through. Once you know what to expect, the fun just isn't there. If you have some game that you've already played, play it again in 2D to "pass the time". But don't ruin a game by playing it the first time in 2D when you could have played it the first time in 3D.

I'll definately do that. Going to re-install Prey and have some fun, might also install Soldner. Old but still quite fun.
I just hope I don't run out of games before my pc's here :P

Of course there are the 3d vision ready titles like:
Resident Evil 5
Trine
Bad Company 2

but as for MY pics not including 3d vision ready titles they would have to be (with PhsX maxed out where available): Alice Madness Returns, Mirrors Edge, Batman AA and Bulletstorm..

Ohh, Crysis 2 is also beatiful with dx11 and high res textures in 3d, despitew the often iffy 3d.

Yea, I was forgetting Mirror's Edge. I bought it brand new for only 4€ just for this, never played it but I will as soon as I get the kit. And I also forgot Alice Madness, that should be quite sweet.
Don't like Batman tho, the game can even be nice but I don't like comic heroes, would never buy the game :P

Seems to me like it's time to play the games that AREN'T great in 3D. You'll have time for the others later.

Dragon Age 2 (but only if you've already played Origins) - not good in 3D, IMHO.

GOG games - the old stuff doesn't work in 3D Vision.

X3: Terran Conflict - nice for 3D screenshots but not so good to play in 3D. But you've only got 18 days and that game takes a good 600 hours...

Amnesia: Dark Descent - an OpenGL game so it won't work with 3D Vision.

Galactic Civilization 2 - I actually haven't tried it in 3D but I really can't imagine why you would want to play it that way. It has 3D models but it's very much a 2D game. It's also one of the most advanced 4X games you'll ever see.

There are also these things called books. They are the most linear thing you'll ever see but they're still pretty fun.
