I don't think fermi is going to work when it comes out (glass is half empty)

Would this be a good buy to hole me over until they are cheaper?

Better frames (for 3d)
Help for Physx?
Power supply recommed?

Thanks

worried about having to update my motherboard. It Can hold a PCIEx16 slot but I read that Fermi may require something different. Please correct me if I am wrong. I am also worried about availability.

Do you think that would be a good substitute for at leat 2 years?

Will I see a significant FPS increase with that board?

I won't be buying until after March 26 (unless I get a FERMI)

Thanks again

I am in the same boat you are in. I too am waiting on a good fermi card at a somewhat manageable price. I just built a new mid range and went from a asus en9800gt ult to a bfg 260 maxcore and slapped the 9800 in for physx. It gets a few less frames than the 275 and doesn't have the built in 250 but from what I gather a 250 is just a rebranded 9800 anyway so you could go that route as a temp like I did and save yourself about 130 bucks. I got it to play 3d on a proj. and so far its run in supremely playable framerates(although that doesn't seem to keep me from getting owned in bad company 2 lol). I personally have big hopes for dx11 and if everything works halfway as good as it sounds in combination with 3d is going to make for some wicked nights.

Just out of curiosity, what are your computer specs and what level of detail are you able to run BC2 at?
I really appreciate your time.

I hope with the new Fermi card it allows me to record in 3D with Fraps without lag. Who knows.

no prob.
i am running bc2 on high settings in 3d at 1024x768 on a viewsonic 6210

specs are
core2quad 8300 2.5(running no oc yet)
xfx 750i sli motherboard
4 gig patriot
bfg gtx 260 maxcore oc edition
asus en9800gt ultimate (physx card)
ultra 750w ps

its certainly nothing fancy and I am running at a lower res but I really don't notice on the projector, and with that res with all the settings as high as i can get minus the stuff you turn off for 3d i never seem to dip below 30 frames a sec on any game or at least it never becomes noticeable if it does. I have tried Batman AA, BC2, Fallout 3, so far all have been really smooth so far, and the 3d just blows my mind on the proj everytime I turn it on. its only been a week for me and I am totally hooked. 3d online multiplayer in bad company 2 is almost too much. bullets whizzin past, running out of a building right into a enemy tank, watching an enemy squad coming in, all these things are crazy in 3d. my k/d ratios are absolutely awful so far(I'm all like OOH look at that fence...BAM!) but its worth it.

wait for FERMI? lol sorry but you would be a fool to buy it..

Not that its NOT good.. its great! But I got my 5870 for $350 and if you think NVIDIA will or has ever cared about US.. they are coming very very late to the party. The cards will be very hard to get .. chips are still rare. So my guess this FERMI which IS about the same speed as ATI 5870.. unless you want to keep running a BENCHMARK.. the price will be $550+. And then to play WHAT game? So far ANY game that SAYS it has DX11 you cant even tell. Now maybe METRO, the new crysis.. but thats just TWO. If it were ME.. I am going to get one but not till around AUG.. but I bet then we will be hearing LOL something from ATI.

So WAIT yes.. why? well hopefully the prices for the card you do want will DROP.

Bogus... I disagree nearly completely. If you think that cards only benefit is two games your nuts. /sorcerer.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':sorcerer:' />

Wow what a bogus post!
So many guesses and assumptions just to try to validate a point...amazing.
Guessing on performance, guessing on pricing, etc.
Oh yeah, an ATI can do 3d vision just great I guess....and you dude you have mix of wrong information there that I can award you the most useless post of the month and we are still only on the 11th!

Jesus.
