I thought battlefield bad company looked mediocre in 3d, their shadows were fubar. The problem i find with nvidia stereoscopic 3d is you often have to turn many of the settings off in games to counter the fubar effects lol. I suppose some will probably give 3D Vision 2 a miss?.

Each to their own but I thought BF2:BC was one viseral 3D experience! Admittedly HBAO has to be turned off but so what?

Batman and Assassins creed alone are worth it for me to spend a couple of grand on 3 ASUS 27" monitors for 3D vision surround /fear.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':fear:' /> Anyway I'm happy that most of the triple A titles are 3D this year. I've been learning to WAIT to play games in 3D until well after launch. Look at Witcher 2. If I'd been impatient and played with broken performance/shadows, I would have ruined the experience, but I waited and got on of the best (if not the best) 3D vision ready title available. I do find it funny that the games I preorder are the ones that are always broken or not working in 3D at launch. I'm not preordering anymore as it seems like I bring the bad luck.
As frustrating and/or annoying this information about the lack of 3D for bf3 at release is, i wouldn't pitch a fit over it, not worth it, battlefield 3 (aka bad company 3) is not all that great the game looks mediocre, yeah fun i suppose but mediocre, the 3d will probably half hearted attemt anyway?.
What exactly about this game is mediocre? Perhaps the campaign, but I played for 3 hours last night multiplayer and co-op and nothing about it is mediocre by any PC standard. And exactly how do you extract the idea that it "looks" mediocre, the game has the highest graphics requirement of any PC title to date. The only thing that is arguably equivalent to BF3 is Crysis 2 DX11/Hi-res textures and Metro 2033, and Metro 2033 you rarely get to see those visuals becuase the nature of the game's close quarters.

Question 1: Why didn't Johan Andersson mention that this feature wouldn't be ready for release at the Nvidia Keynote?

Question 2: Why didn't Nvidia announce that the feature they were promoting at their event wouldn't be ready for release?

Question 3: What is Nvidia doing to help address the issue of AAA 3d Vision ready games being released with the 3d vision support either missing or broken?

Thanks!

A1: Johan decides what he wants to disclose, so he was more focused on the engine and how cool it is.

A2: The honest answer is these things are in flux, and we were trying to get it supported in the day 1 patch, but we werent able to get it added at the last minute.

A3: We constantly work with developers to ensure the features we need in titles are released with the game launch, but unfortunately this title didnt make it.

Andrew - Thank you for the clear response, it is good to not have to wonder. Have you seen the game in 3D? Are we talking "it will be worth it to wait" timeframe or "might as well get started" timeframe? Or possibly any hints what we are waiting on (some rendering problem, performance, etc)?
I have played the game now for a little bit and played it at GeForce LAN 6. I thought it looked great in 3D and enjoyed it a lot.

Unfrickin believable! I download the new driver, see a rating of 3D Vision ready for the game. Spend $55 CAD buying the game, and read what? It doesn't work in 3D? What kind of horsesh#t is this? False advertising by Nvidia. Another monumental rip off. I spend well over $1500 on Nvidia 3D Vison equipment, video cards and a projector and Nvidia can't even be honest? No wonder ATI (now AMD) has been able to stay in the game. Why is the PC world so full of companies that do not worry about customer satisfaction? The only real attitude that seems to exist is screw you.

Hi

Allow me to explain.

Battlefield 3 is implementing 3D support natively inside its engine. So our driver does nothing to automatically convert the game in 3D.

What that means is we require the game engine to have 3D built in.

Unfortunately, DICE and EA are not providing this in the day 1 patch.

I would encourage you to express your concern with DICE/EA as well, since ultimately they are the ones doing the work to add 3D.

So did the 3D have true dual rendering like we are used to like Metro 2033 or is it pseudo-3D like Crysis 2?

Good question. Until we have next gen consoles, developer implemented 3D is unlikely to be the quality 3D Vision users are used to. I hope I am wrong though!

I notice that when the game start, no green informations appear at the bottom, and my 3D screen do not start at 100% brightess. Nvidia driver may do not detect the game launching?

In your opinion i suppose. I'm not saying bf3 is a bad game i'm saying it aint all that. I have seen recent screenshots of the game mainly from multiplayer and single player campaign, some looked quite good some ok others looked not so good. The frostbite engine is not one of my favourites if i'm honest but yeah it can look good in all fairness but from what i have seen it can be rather mediocre. It has a very washed out look to it a lot of the times, glow worms in the mini map lol. I will get a copy for sure, i mean why not it has guns and it's a shooter game so it's not allways about the graphics. The sound is good i like that but i don 't think it looks as good as crysis or crysis 2, maybe some decent graphics mods would improve that, crysis 2 can look mediocre at times but the game has more of a decent color gamut than bf3, some screenshots of bf3 mp look to have a sort of blue hue/tint over it or is that weather effects in game?, bf3 can look over bright and even quite bland. Ok i know screenshots and vids don't allways do a game real justice so in all fairness i can give a better viewpoint when i try the game out on my pc. But as things stand right now and from what i have seen in screenshot from last night and today it looks mediocre, but as gamers know it's the gameplay that is most important. Battlefield 3 in name but bad company in design and looks and gameplay imho. But, shall see for myself later in the week or later on in the festive season?.

A2: The honest answer is these things are in flux, and we were trying to get it supported in the day 1 patch, but we werent able to get it added at the last minute.
