3 Active Displayport adapters or just one for 3d surround?
Hi people,
I have 3 identical 120hz 1920x1080 3dvision ready monitors with only DVI and HDMI inputs and 1 Titan X card. The card has 3 Displayports, 1 HDMI and 1 DVI. Can I run 1 HDMI cable, 1 DVI and 1 Displayport with the active 330 mhz adapter from the card or do I need to run from all 3 displayports with 3 active adapters to get 3d surround at 120hz?

I have a question about active adapters, in case I someday buy two more monitors (but seeing the price of the adapters, I would prefer using two BenQ XL2420Zs directly with DP). Is that 330MHz limit enforced? Because with my BenQ XL2411Z (using DVI) I have some custom resolutions that almost reach 400MHz, thanks to the Nvidia pixel clock patcher.

While you can unlock the pixel clock on the GPU, you can not overcome the limitations of the HDMI input chip in the monitor.
You might be able to get the different model types to work using an EDID override to make them appear to be identical. I recall a few threads on the topic, but I can't remember if they got it working.

Ok so I bought 3 of those active adapters listed above which specifically say they support 120hz at 1920x1080 and 3d. I can run 2d surround with 3 of them at 5760x1080 at 120hz but no go with 3d. I also tried running the setup wizard with each single monitor using different adapters to see if i got a bad one and each time I get your color scheme has changed to windows basic as it takes its sweet time flickering on and off and then when I finally get to the wizard I see what should be the right image in the left eye lens of the glasses and vise versa. Everything works fine when running the dvi from the card to the dvi on the monitor. Tried half a dozen different drivers.
The 3 monitors are Asus VG278H 3d Vision2 rated with active glasses
Win 7 Home Premium 64-bit Service pack 1 and up to date
I7 920 @ 2.67ghz
Asus Titan X 12gb (3dp-1hdmi-1dvi outputs)
1000 watt 80plus platinum power
12 gb ddr3 ram
samsung 840 evo 250 gb boot ssd

I've never heard of anyone using 3 adapters, but then again, I haven't followed the surround forum for the past year.

But after, I don't have any issues whatsoever.
The experience is comparable with 3 monitors connected on DL-DVI.

I did have to connect the 1 DVI from the card to the center monitor DVI input. The other 2 are connected from the DisplayPorts using the adapters. Not sure why I can not run 1 monitor in 3d separately using the adapter but hey I now have 3d surround. Yay.
I do still have a minor issue of a 3d emitter on one of the monitors staying on after exiting a 3d game. Also if I look left or right during gameplay I sometimes lose the 3d and see double of everything but looking left or right again I can bring it back immediately.

I do still have a minor issue of a 3d emitter on one of the monitors staying on after exiting a 3d game. Also if I look left or right during gameplay I sometimes lose the 3d and see double of everything but looking left or right again I can bring it back immediately.
You might be able to use an EDID override from a 3D Vision certified Monitor that uses a Display Port connection. That might eliminate the need of the Dual link DVI connection on the one monitor, allowing you to use it for an accessory display.

I added my 55 inch tv as an accessory display with the available HDMI output on the card.
My beef is that the official surround system requirements configuration tool states;
Special Instructions:
> Any connectors can be used to enable Surround.
> Once Surround is enabled, users can use any
connector for the Accessory Display.
> Max of 4 displays can be used simultaneously (3 if monitors are 4K)
> 3D Vision Surround requires using three DVI or three DisplayPort connectors
> All monitors must be the same make and model for 3D Vision Surround

HDMI on that monitor doesn't have the required bandwidth to support 3D at 1920x1080@120Hz.
