yes. if you plan on playing on more than one monitor (this feature will be enabled once the GTX 4XX series cards are released) then you will need a more powerful card, but the GTX 260 is 3d ready yes.
do remember that 3d vision effectively halfs your FPS as you have to render the images for your right eye AND your left eye.

So if you are playing on high resolution the GTX 260 might be a bit weak.. I get in Bioshock 2 avg 40 fps normal gameplay 1920x1080 high settings, so i guess in 3d mode it will be unplayable.

and pleasr ppl dont give me the scare trip that it will cut my frames by half. i have played cod4 in 1920x1080p and everything blasted on gtx 285 and i have played it in 3d and i noticed only about a 10 frame drop. so i was getting 50fps instead of 60. i am not worried about a drop. my question siply was IS IT 3D READY.

i know the the laptop screen wont, i always have it hooked up to a external monitor anyways. i just want to know becaue i have been seeing mixed things about the 260m. asus has a 3d ready laptop that i am sure has a 260m in it, and i took that nvidia test that is on this site to test how stereo scopic 3d will run and it says i am compatable but i have yet to see a site saying that a gtx260m is 3d ready. this site itself doesnt even say.

probably because most people use their gaming laptops through the in built screens. saying something like "its 3d ready but only on an external monitor that is 120hz" is confusing for poeple. they want to kno if it works for 3d or not, they dont want to hear some complicated list of things that needs to be done for it to work, that doesnt inspire confidence ;)
sorry i cant be morehelp, but i would imagine if the test says you are ready then you are good to go. do remember that the gtx 660m is even less powerful than the gtx 260 for desktops. what games do you plan on running in 3d? have you taken a look at the FPS you currently get and devided it by 2 to see if it would be playable in 3d?

i know that the 260m is less powerfull than the 260, the 260m is a bit faster than the 9800gt for desktops. and i only plan on playing a few games on it, and i have played games in 3d on another computer at my friends house (burnout paridice) and he has a crapy computer and he only noticed only a 10FPS drop.

When you play games in 3D you are supposed to have an FPS of 120, hence why you need a 120Hz monitor. So dropping from 60 to 50 is bad when your supposed to be running at 120FPS. Now it may not be noticeable at 50FPS sometimes but the reasoning behind this is that at 120Hz the images move smoothly since each eye is only seeing every 2nd frame. Hence when playing at 60FPS in 3D mode you only see 30FPS with each eye. So 50FPS is like having 25FPS, etc. Most consider 25FPS to low for gaming. Just thought Id verify that for you since for some reason the half performance seemed as a scare tactic...
Also the mobile version of the 280 is 3D ready I believe seeing as ASUS released a 3D ready laptop using it.

well i have to say you are wrong on most of what you said there. Hz is the refresh rate not the frames per second. secondly i dont think there is any game on the market that supports over 75fps once you hit 100+ frames per second you are then fast forwording the game. thirdly the only reason for 120hz monitor is to split 60hz to each image since there are technicly 2 images overlaying one another and with out having to literally produce the game twice. starioscopic 3d can also be done on a 90hz monitor ex: some CRT monitors will support 3d. you can actually find a huge list of monitors mostly CRT that will do 3d but not as well as a 120hz LCD. a good way to test my theory is to run a benchmark at the lowst possible settings (like the crysis one) and what what happens when you get over 60FPS the camera starts to move really fast and that is because the games highest fps is 60. i have done lots of research sence this post was up but i am still findong mixed reviews on whether or not my GPU is 3d ready without testing it myself.
im going to go 3d anyways sence my ps3 is also 3d ready and it will be fun to play LBP and GT5 in 3d :D

hz is the refresh rate you are correct there, but it limits what the maximum FPS you can display is. if you have a 60hz monitor and you play a game that is getting 70fps, your monitor can only display 60 so you wont see a difference between 60 and 70fps.
there are many games on the market that supprot more than 75fps, and once you hit over 100fps you are not "fast forwarding" the game at all, the game will run at the same speed you will just be rendering what is happening more than 100 times a second. i can get well over 600 fps in unreal tournament 2004 because it is such an old game my graphics card can render over 600 images per second.
if you play a agem at lowest settings and the camera seems to move faster, it sounds to me like at the settings you play at you are seeing lag which slows the camera down. the game should be smooth and the camera should move as fast as you move the mouse.
also geard is correct - playing a game in 3d on a 120hz monitor effectively halfs your FPS to 60. so if your pc can only play the game at 30fps. enabling 3d will make your game run at 15 fps which is unplayable.

i know the the laptop screen wont, i always have it hooked up to a external monitor anyways. i just want to know becaue i have been seeing mixed things about the 260m. asus has a 3d ready laptop that i am sure has a 260m in it, and i took that nvidia test that is on this site to test how stereo scopic 3d will run and it says i am compatable but i have yet to see a site saying that a gtx260m is 3d ready. this site itself doesnt even say.

sorry i cant be morehelp, but i would imagine if the test says you are ready then you are good to go. do remember that the gtx 660m is even less powerful than the gtx 260 for desktops. what games do you plan on running in 3d? have you taken a look at the FPS you currently get and devided it by 2 to see if it would be playable in 3d?
