3D Vision: Left 4 Dead Bug 1st major game bug discovered
Team Nvidia,
When playing Left 4 Dead in certain areas (such as color of surroundings and light sources from the game engine) one side of the 3D view becomes extremely over saturated in brightness levels.
This is very easy to reproduce, in harvest blood when you start off (does this in different areas of the whole game) when you look to your right go by the cart and ammo. The left side (left eye) of the 3D effect turns super bright when looking at the lantern near the ammo (which is a light source against a very bright night sky). Again the left side super saturated in brightness level while the right side (right eye) stay normal.
Left eye super bright, right eye normal. This feels like its causing a seizure =( But if I move the character in a 360 around the lantern it will flick this effect on and off. Left eye will go super bright then normal back and forth. Not a quick flicker but steady it depends on the location of the light source and your view and your surroundings in game.
This bug happens at all resolutions 1920x1080 or 1772x992 and it a chances of it happening every other loading of the game. I have also tried a reformat of Vista and fresh install of drivers and game only. Same thing happens...
I have found a quick fix that will allow you to stay in game so you don't have to quit your online coop left 4 dead session, change the resolution in game it fixes the problem instantly, then change back to the resolution of choice. It will not happen again while in game until you quit then it happen randomly when loading a game.
Anything I can offer to help logs or what not to help would be great.
You can check for this when you cant see straight and become 1/2 blind then close you right eye its super bright (can barley see image) then close left eye and its normal as expected.

Please show us some screenshots of the glitch.
Get some program that can capture double image (stereo 3d) screenshots; I had one when I used eDimensional's shutter glasses. I think the software was made by Nvidia, I'm not sure.

I haven't tested this, but try CTRL-F1 or SHIFT-F1....something like that. The driver should let you take screen caps and record them in an NVIDIA image directory (it might be linked to your C drive's root directory).

You can take in-game screenshot by pressing CTRL-F1. Also, what drivers are you using? Include the GPU driver and 3D Vision driver versions please.

Just to add that I get this same bug. Although for me, it seems to be one eye gets an image with excessive bloom or HDR effects rendered, while the other eye sees the normal image.

Have you also turned down off the film grain effect in the game?

I'm using the latest drivers for the 3D vision from the NVIDIA website (CD 1.03 Jan 19th Release). These are the 181.20 display drivers and 181.20 3dvision drivers. Yes, I've also turned off the film grain. There doesn't seem to be an option to specifically turn off bloom or HDR however like there is in other Source games.

NO this is exactly whats happens to me in better more simpler wording. Extreme blooming from the left eye only but its the whole rendered left side that is over saturated in bloom.
I am using the geforce drivers & 3D stereo drivers from the disc now but let me explain this also.
As a customer we always want to use the newest drivers. So when I first got my kit I installed just the 3D driver because I had a newer geforce driver and it didn't work. So I uninstalled both drivers (and used driver sweeper) and then installed both from the disc.
1st night played for like 5hours and never saw the bug in left 4 dead (purchased via steam if that matters)
Next day the first game I load up does this I was like wow, then I just got annoyed because I had to quit each game I joined because I couldn't see and it gives instant headaches.
So I decided to reformat (Vista 64 is the OS) and same thing happened within the first game or so.
So I tried to change the reoslution in game so I didnt have to quit to see if it worked and it did! =) So my next step was lets change it back to the resolution I was just using so see if its fixed there now. Hell yea worked again and the glitch is way less prone to coming back.
Matter of fact after i double switched the resolution it wouldn't come back at all unless I relaunched the game.
Andrew any thing you need help with just let me know... I'll do what ever it takes to help the 3D team with anything I can in regards to making the best possible experience for the consumers. =)Any log files and steps you want me to try no problem.
I will post some screens as soon as I get a chance to game tomorrow.
And to reconfirm this happens only in Left4Dead so far... not sure about new_parad1gm

yea looked for that too but disabling HDR is not the problem because switching resolutions fixes it on the fly and its only 1 side. No need start disabling features now =)
I do understand turning HDR bloom off in 3D is a standard anyhow >.<

I get the same problem...so it seems to be pretty prevalent. Am using the stock off the disk drivers. Fortunately it goes away as you said with a reset of screen resolution.

While stereo is working fine for this game I get no visible Nvidia 3D laser sight (Ctrl-F12). HUD says it's turning on and off but it gets not visible.

Ok I have an update for you. We have been able to reproduce this issue, but so far have not found root cause.
One good piece of news I have is that we have found an effective workaround that has worked for us: Simply ALT-TAB out of the game, and ALT-TAB back into it. This fixed the issue for us on all three test PCs we tried.

thanks for being on the ball with the 3D product Nvidia we appreciate it.
