just out of my lack of expertise and curiosity,

I'd like to know why FSX works fine with 3DVision, while P3D(v2) does not activate it at all, being basically the same simulator (at least for me)

thanks

I've never tried Microsoft Flight Simulator but I see that Prepar3D (pronounced prepared) is essentially the same thing, other than it's the commercial-use version. Supposedly, according to the Wikipedia page, the main code for FSX hadn't been updated in 8 years. Now that Lockheed Martin has taken over, they updated the code to take advantage of multi-core CPUs and upgraded to DX11 for graphics. You might try one of the stickied threads and try activate compatibility mode, since it's DX11. It also wouldn't hurt to contact Lockheed about the possibility of fixing 3D.

Most likely candidate for why 3D doesn't engage is that they are drawing in a borderless window, not full screen. See if there are any options to force full screen mode, and complain to them if they've removed that.

Correct. There is no true full-screen mode now for some crazy arsed reason, so no 3D. I'm sticking with GSX up until they fix it.

I am running Prepar3D v2.4 and the game runs beautifully in 3D. The 3D works in both window mode and full-screen. This game by default started in window mode, you need to tab(Alt + Enter) for full-screen mode.) Here's the screenshots: https://www.flickr.com/photos/dat-ly/

Thanks for sharing. Question: did they fix the runway lights in 3D? Can you fly at night? I put in a LOT of effort to fix the runway lights in FSX, but could not prevail because they were done with a primitive 2D drawing technique.

I meant tap (Alt + Enter) for full-screen mode. On the top menu under "Views" you can also see the option to click for full-screen mode, too. No, I didn't change anything in Inspector.

actually it was my error: I mistyped alt-tab in place of alt-enter, you wrote correctly the first time yet I don't realize why it works for you and not for me .... while FSX does, and I don't have any problem with any other 3DV supported game

I am running Prepar3D v2.4.11570/DX11. Prepar3D is just an upgraded engine from FSX. Playing in 3D shouldn't be a problem though. From my judgement it looks like native 3D. :)) This game also works on Tridef 3D too. :))

I can send you the custom profile for Tridef that I have created for myself. hmmm...I am not sure why it wouldn't work for you guys though. I have the game installed on both windows 7 and 8.1 and I had no problem running it in 3D. Here's the link for the Tridef profile. https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B3rWOasQHaAkSktDcEU1R1JkYnc/view?usp=sharing
