NVIDIA, this is outrageous! NVIDIA 3DTV PLAY

3DTV Play was a downgrade for many of us. We paid for a product, then you removed some of the features and seemed surprised when we complained. I see the one year mark not too far away. Will nVidia refund my money if you haven't repaired your product after one year of us waiting?

What features are missing that you are asking for?

As stated before, you guys could re-implement the screen size selection feature. The one that was in the forceware 3d driver worked great as it was a slider. Still not sure about the always use this refresh rate feature, more often than not it is grayed out on mine and I don't know why. That one could take some looking at.

And interlaced as far as I know still works on the 3d vision driver, though it is not listed in the options menu. I can activate it with another 3d program and the 3dv glasses automatically go into interlaced mode. I realize that this is not THE option that Nvidia wants users to use, but I see no reason it should not be selectable.

And the ability to make custom lasersights would be a neat feature too. You could wipe the entire library of pre-3d vision sights that come with the driver as far as I'm concerned and start over. Most of those are of questionable usefullness anyway. As of right now we are using a hack to put custom sights in the driver, you could help us with that.

And of course the eye swap button is almost essential, right now I am using a ten year old third party program through a vga attached dongle to swap eyes in 3d vision.

$40 to be able to connect a 3DTV using HDMI???

So, you smart asses, disabled that feature and now are asking for $40 to re-enable it.

Until NOW I thought NVIDIA was a very respectable company.

Now, do the right thing: include that feature in the drivers (it's already there, just enable it!) and let's call this off.

Everything will be as this never happened.

Otherwise I think some bad PR is coming your way very soon.

Edit:
What I mean is: I already have a 3dtv and glasses, and a powerful pc with 2 GTX 580 cards, I should need nothing elase to watch 3d content from my pc to my 3dtv.
Are you saying that the 3D Vision\3D TV Play driver should be free? That's what I have been saying all along. Thing was, it was free at one point. Back when it was known as the 3D Forceware. However your payment for the 3DV product gives it one advantage that the Forceware driver did not have, support. And continued feature updates. Back then every update was simply a compatibility update. Most of the later ones actually made the software worse.

Should it be included free as part of the Geforce software package, I believe so. And maybe in time it will be. For now though paying for the package gets you support and (the promise of) future feature updates. And no I don't think you should get it for free on your HDTV when I had to pay for it on the pc.

What sucks is that 3DTV Play only supports HDMI 1.4. I submitted a projector for support and was told that since it was not HDMI 1.4 that they could not add it and that if I wanted it supported 3D Vision instead, I'd have to convince the manufacturer to get it Nvidia certified. So seeing as how they are still releasing a lot of 3D ready projectors that will be unsupported via 3D Vision or 3DTV Play, AMD & Tridef will be getting additional business.

NEWS FLASH: Corporations are there to make money. And they do this by charging consumers a fee in exchange for a product and/or service. Who would have thought?

WTB 3D support for scrub displays not worthy of Nvidia 3D Vision or 3DTV Play, you can call it 3D Enabler for the bargain price of $40. Would buy dual projector support as well, or put you guys on my Christmas card list if you included it in Vision or Play.

Oh yeah, almost forgot WTB..........Advanced Users control panel, with adjustable screen size, sharpness, timings control, etc...........or you could include it with Vision or Play and I'll put you on the list for a Valentine's Day card complete with XOXOXOXOs

I think waiting for one year for you to give us checkerboard back is reasonable. If it's not back one year after the date of the above link will you refund my money?

If nVidia would give 3D over HDMI for free, they would just hurt the sellings of their 3DVision kit, even though this is technically superior (but too many people just don't understand that).
Technically superior? To a 240hz 3D HDTV??? I doubt it. A samsung 55D8000 TV is far superior to the majority of the so called "3d monitors".

To add, you also already bought the Nvidia video card. Using the 3d on the tv should simply be part of the drivers for the GTX 580 video cards you already purchased. They simply disable the option so they can screw you out of more money.

True. But the money you paid for that tv and branded glasses does not go to Nvidia. Those glasses are intended, for the most part, for 3D Blu Ray watching. There is still the issue of paying for Nvidia's middleware. IF the glasses were 3D Vision branded and the built in emitter was not a generic off the shelf one then I could see the problem of nvidia charging you twice and ripping you off. But as it stands now, the glasses kit that comes with the tv is probably a generic one and Nvidia does not make money off of it.

The solution is for the HDTV manufacturer to pay a licensing fee of some kind to Nvidia and allow all Geforce users to use the 3D middleware for free, no questions asked, none of this coming to the forums and bitching about having to pay more money, and no bull****. Of course this price hike would probably be passed on to the consumer eventually, but that's the way it works. And in return they get to put a green logo on their tv that says "This china manufactured crap is certified to work with Nvidia's china manafactured crap."

I mean let's be honest, an extra pair of those glasses for that tv probably costs $300. And they are generic wireless shutter glasses, the same kind that they've been selling for the last ten years. The same kind that Nvidia is pushing right now. The kind that probably costs four dollars to make. It's not exactly a new and exciting and expensive technology you know what I mean, Andrew?

Nvidia should just make the HDTV goons pony up the cash, and in return they get to use the 3D Vision branding and can sell the 3DV glasses with the tv. This is a more optimal solution than having two seperate kits and having consumers be completely confused as to what they need to buy, what cables they need, and what brand works with 3D Vision.

Since it can't do S3D in full res and 60 Hz, it's technically inferior. It's just as simple as that.
