In nVidia control panel, under Manage 3d settings, options for setting up stereo vision should be available, according to help documentation of driver 185.85. However, such options are not available for me. Is it because my chipset is 8800M, not 8800?

I hope so. I was pleased that nVidia released driver updates for notebooks, too. I just realized those updates 2 days ago, downloaded, and now can run dx10! I'll finally start developing for dx10, not just dx9.0c. Of course, it'd be great to develop for stereo vision--and see if it's really working.

Stereoscopic 3D is possible on Dell XPS M1730.
It's interesting that nVidia mentioned mobile platforms are not supported, but they are...
You must have a Dual Link DVI cable, DVI-I or DVI-D (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_Visual_Interface)
Remove all your nVidia drivers of the M1730 from the control panel-programs-remove
Remove the nVidia 3D Vision player from the control panel-programs-remove
Download the 185.85 driver (http://driverscollection.com/?H=GeForce%208800M%20GTX&By=NVidia)
Download the latest nVidia driver
Download StereoPlayer from Peter Wimmer or from nvidia StereoPlayer
Download DriverSweeper (http://www.phyxion.net/Driver-Sweeper/View-category)
Download the original 3D Vision driver as it was originally deployed on the box GeForce_3D_Vision_CD_v1.08-5-15-09_Winvista_eng. (Version 1.10 won't work!) (http://www.nvidia.com/object/geforce_3D_vision_win7_CD_1.08.html)
Restart in Safe Mode
Use DiskSweeper to remove all the remaining nVidia Display drivers
Reboot your computer as usual
Install the nVidia 185.85 Driver
Plug in the Samsung 120Hz display using the Dual Link DVI cable
Make you Samsung 120Hz the primary and only Display by Disabling your laptop display
Go to nVidia Control Panel and set the refresh rate to 120Hz
You should be able to drive your 3D Ready Samsung 120Hz display properly
Install the 3D Vision driver
Install the Stereoscopic player from Peter Wimmer or from nVidia or from TDVision/DejaView/TDVCodec
Plug the usb/IR emitter.
Wear your glasses
Run nVidia-Control-Panel
You should see the Stereoscopic 3D menu enabled
Enable Stereoscopic 3D
Set the display and refresh rate
run the tests
you should be ready to run.
The video content you will see is less than half resolution per eye from side by side to full frame using interpolation, antialiasing and filters and then frame sequenced.
For a full HD per eye experience you can check TDVision, TDVCodec and DejaView applications, they work perfectly.
We have enabled 2 Dell XPS M1730 laptops and they run perfectly.
We sincerely don't understand why nVidia would block the newest drivers when the old ones can perfectly work /thumbup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
Hope this works for you, please let us know via email to development@tdvisioncorp.com.

I just bought the Nvidia bundle to use on my XPS 1730 with SLIed 8800ms, only to find the stereo drivers won't install from the CD.
Is there no way to force the issue?
Thanks
