Quantum Break
  14 / 23
@DJ-RK: did game crash for you like crazy during your playthrough? It does for me. I don't know how to play it in this state (not blaming anyone!) - it crashes just in the middle of some long fight. Argh! I've tried so many things - removing background programs, disabling antivirus, re-installing drivers (DDU), changing game and driver settings. God, I even removed my SLI cards and tried each of them in stand-alone mode - nothing does any difference. Game spontaneously crash every 5-20 minutes (if I'm lucky enough) :| And I don't use any overclocking, quite contrary - I've even tried downgrading my GPU power to 94% via MSI Afterburner. Today my 3D Vision glasses discharged, so I was forced to play in 2D for some time. And guess what? No crashes... Quantum Break is the second game after Mirrors Edge: Catalyst which I can't play in 3D because of frequent crashes. Interesting is that once game crashes, I don't need to restart PC. I can start it right way and play for another 5-20 minutes. Any suggestions, guys? Even the crazy ones. :) I'm on Win 10 + Anniversary Update with latest clean drivers. P.S. My 3D Vision display, Asus VG278H, has built-in IR receiver. Can that be the cause of issues somehow? P.P.S. Game crashed for me in Compatibility Mode (AC4 profile) just the same as with 3D fix, so fix or 3DMigoto is definitely not to blame.

I have no idea what to say... Since you want crazy try the following and see what happens: - Download my profile file : NVIDIA_PROFILE_KEEP_TO_DATE_373.06.txt (Right Click and select "Save Link As...") - Use the guide on how to swap profiles. - Don't use Nvidia Inspector but "Geforce 3D Profile Manager" - Swap all the profiles. (You don't need to delete any bin file or such, just run the profile and IMPORT this one). Don't know if it helps, but maybe it will???

@Seregin: For me it seemed like Act 2 crashed the worst, pretty much like you described it. During the first shootout with the heavy shotgunner (where you burst through a door and he's there waiting for you like, "Oh hai!") I would get repeated crashes, and was worried at that point that the problem would hinder me from playing and enjoying the game, but once I got through that the crashing did become less severe, but definitely still occurred here and there. I think it has something to do with a memory leak of some kind. One time while I was playing, I alt tabbed out, and I got a warning that one of my hard drives was low on disk space. Sure enough it was, although I hadn't downloaded or moved anything to that drive in ages. I then remembered that I still haven't changed my virtual memory setting away from the default (allow Windows to manage it automatically) since my Windows reinstall. So I suspect that maybe that could be the case. So yeah, maybe monitor the RAM usage while playing and maybe set your pagefile accordingly to see if that happens to be the culprit.

@Helifax: thanks man! You are very helpful, as always :) Deep bow to you! @DJ-RK: very interesting insight, indeed! Thanks a lot! I will try it this evening. I've noticed some strange things when I analyzed graphs in MSI Afterburner when game crashed again. In memory tab it was all full to the top and showing yellow border, while all other graphs were just green. Now, with your suggestion, it starts to make sense. I will try playing with my RAM and paging file. Thanks again! P.S. I adore 3D Vision community! We have such a talented and helpful shader wizards here, and the community around them are so cool as well! Thanks to all of you, guys!!!

My game crashes a lot too. The most frustrating part is I cannot play an episode of the tv show. The moment I try...crash. Still, DHRs patch fix helped my performance. So fix looks great.

@Seregin: Also, if you haven't done so already, download and install the new version of the fix 1.1, which incorporates the change suggested by DHR (or download and install his patch), since other people are reporting that's helped with performance. I wouldn't think so, but the 2 things could be related. @BazzaLB: Check the Steam forums. Pretty sure I saw a few people complaining about that issue there. Since I never experienced it I didn't read up on any of that, but odds are someone has a solution for that problem.

@DJ-RK, updated 1.1 fix has the same performance issue with the 1.0 for me, fps is identical with both of them.

@Seregin, you probably tried this but if you haven't, enable 30 fps lock. Without 30 fps lock my game crashes randomly but not as frequent as yours, with 30 fps lock not a single crash.
@lacuna Great that work!! Don't go to the dark side (Fake3D)...jajaja @DJ-RK I don't think is a CPU related (at least direct related...the game indeed need a good CPU)....I have a i7 3770K Overclocked to 4.5Ghz (is not last generation, but is not weak)....and playing 720p (no upscaling) i always have 50% - max 65% CPU usage. When i test the WIP3 (when you add the shader partner) i test using MSI Afterburner to look the fps, some parts i see 55 - 60fps but still i have a microstutter/slow motion in the screen (it's like the game skip some frames)....removing the shader partner in the same place, same 55 - 60 fps and not microstutter/slow motion....all fluid. This is the first time i see this in a game with that feature. Maybe is something with win7 / win10.....i'm using win7.... i don't know.
How can I upscale a game? If I choose 720p and then upscale to 1080p, is it suppose to have better performance? How can I do this in the nvidia control pannel?

Does any of you what to do about audio output, in win7 my audio output is working properly with hdmi from 980ti to amplifier, i can configure the speaker output for 5.1 setup but in windows 10 is only show the output with stereo ? 1280x720 is UPSAMPLED and displayed on YOUR native 1920x1080 monitor. Your monitor Has 1920x1080 PHYSICAL pixels. Upscaling is like: Zooming IN. Imagine a 720P that you ZOOM IN to make it fit 1080p. Downscaling (or DSR if you feel like calling it that) is like: Zooming OUT. Imagine a 1440p image that you ZOOM out to make it fit 1080p. There is no magic here. Just basic image manipulation stuff. Nvidia driver does UPSCALING natively. Look here: Those are the modes that the driver uses for upscaling natively. You can play with them to better understand how it works if you want. You can either do it from the driver level (which Nvidia driver does) or go with it in the Application. The UPSCALE was implemented in this game because the XBONE couldn't push the native resolution the hardware requires 900p or 1080p. So they are making a 1080p window but the game actually is rendered at let's say 720p. And then they ZOOM-IN and fit that image in 1080p window. That is it;) A bit of "PAINT/Photoshop" ;)) I am amazed that you didn't know this;) (No pun intended, but this applies to everything that you see on your phone/table/pc/console screen. Even when you see a PDF and you zoom in or out is basically Upscaling/downscaling or Zoom In/Zoom Out ^_^)

That is it;) A bit of "PAINT/Photoshop" ;))

I am amazed that you didn't know this;) (No pun intended, but this applies to everything that you see on your phone/table/pc/console screen. Even when you see a PDF and you zoom in or out is basically Upscaling/downscaling or Zoom In/Zoom Out ^_^)
