The Nvidia test comes out id say a good 2' for me. I havent got any games to come out as far yet but ive read people talking about the rain in left 4 dead coming out as well as zombies and shooting objects(debris) flying out of the screen. I've only had mine for a couple days so im still testing and adjusting me eyes though.

If You take off the glasses You can see a point/distance where there is no separation on objects. Everything in the gameworld closer to Your game character than this point/distance will pop out. The stuff on the other side will pop into Your monitor.

I must be missing something. That article was great at explaining the difference between the three 3D settings -- but didn't show us how to actually configure those values.
I can get World of Warcraft to "pop out" because the game itself has settings (in the video options) to control those things.
In Left 4 Dead, I can't find similar settings. And the nVidia control panel doesn't seem to have options for this either (unless I missed it)?
The scroll wheel on the IR transmitter controls depth, but doesn't seem to affect whether the 3D comes out of the screen or into the screen. How do we adjust that setting?

Forget the scroll wheel. That just controls "separation". Think of separation as your depth budget, or how much depth you can spend going inside and outside the screen.
Convergence in the NVIDIA drivers is increased and decreased with the CTRL F5 (decrease), CTRL F6 (increase) keys. You need to have advanced features activated in the NVIDIA drivers to do this.

Thank you Chopper, that helps a lot. I didn't realize those key sequences were there and also didn't realize "convergence" was a setting until reading this thread.
Left 4 Dead just got 50% cooler now that my gun comes out of the screen. It was already pretty awesome, so that's saying a lot.
Ok, anyone still on the fence: GET THIS PRODUCT. :-) Video games are so much more fun now.

I have to say Chopper, I love your budget explanation for the separation wheel. makes it soo much clearer than anythign i have seen in the Nvidia instructions. I wish Nvidia would do a better job of explaining its features to prevent many people who are not on this forum from missing out on the really good s3d setups.

I agree -- why bury the cool setting? I thought this product sucked when I first tried it, and have grown to love it over the last two weeks as I learn more about how it works and how to configure it. Had this convergence setting been enabled by default, I would have loved it right out of the box. It is dumb to not put your best foot forward with a product like this.
There should have been two scroll wheels on the back of the IR emitter. One for convergence, and one for separation.

That's why MTBS exists. We solve problems and advocate S-3D technologies.
What you read was RC1 of the guide. NVIDIA is getting us equipment, so we will be able to develop RC2 with more hardware specific instructions. We are also updating our S-3D game review structure, etc. Expect some positive surprises!

Chopper, need a little help with the MTBS site. I checked out the website and the link you gave for the explanation of 3D and how to set it up. As far as the videos I have been so far unsuccessful. Firefox cannot find the plugin needed, and IE7 simply locks up and gives a PHP error for the ad on the right side of the screen... Any suggestions?

Never mind.. Finally got it working, but had to remove and reinstall Firefox. Had some other issues, indicating there was some corruption. The WMP plugin would not install properly, but after a reinstall is works good now. Thanks

If you can, share feedback in the attached thread to the guide. When it was written, most people knew this stuff. It's good to get feedback from people who are learning this for the first time so we can make it better and easier to follow.

It's a matter of preference. This is how to adjust it (non-proprietary settings guide):

In Left 4 Dead, I can't find similar settings. And the nVidia control panel doesn't seem to have options for this either (unless I missed it)?

It takes some tweaking, but definately cooler than just playing with the scroll wheel.
Thanks Chopper.
