Well, beat the game, and my final impressions, as an SC fan from the 1st, is that its 1 step forward and 2-3 back.
The good parts:
-graphics of course, it looks good, its UT3, like 90% of games now days, moving on.
-unlocking and upgrading weapons! I love this! Almost as cool as when they added it to the hitman games, but only 3 upgrades per gun so not as cool as some of the upgrades in bloodmoney. My MP5-SD with 2x scope came in handy quite a few times /yes.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> The problem with this system is that you dont get the good weapons and upgrades until you're pretty much almost done with the game.
-PEC challenges - basically achievements that give you money to unlock more weapon upgrades. a nice addition.
-of course the objectives and flashbacks and crap being projected onto the environment is pretty cool,
-interrogation scenes. they're just fun, but they need to be more violent ;)
The Bad parts
- The whole game is just too action-oriented this time it seems. In a stealth game, running and gunning shouldnt be the easy approach, yet it is. There are levels and parts of levels that are nothing BUT shooting, hardly any stealth at all. Since I like playing shooter games with mouse and keyboard, but i like playing games like SC and Assassins Creed and other 3rd person games w/ controller because movements easier to control, and since switching back and forth between the two requires goin into menus and enable/disabling stuff... well, some of the game just wasnt that enjoyable. Even with mouse and keyboard controls, aiming is still a pain because the aiming feels laggy and messed up, like so many other console ports, like it has smoothing on or something. And then the crosshairs for a majority of the weapons never get tight enough for you to be accurate anyways.
- cover system - it makes the game just like any other GoW clone really. Sam doesnt need a freaking cover system, his cover are these things called "shadows".
- Mark and Execute - I used this about twice in the whole game. I think this is about as noobish as Fallouts VATs system, and is like saying you enjoy flying planes on autopilot. Does it look cool, and is it handy is some situations? Sure, it just makes thing unnecessarily easier.
- Difficulty. I beat the game on realistic, it was anything but that though. Most of the game was so easy because i would just walk through most levels stealth-headshotting guys as i came across them. Or one of my fav "tactics", shoot a guy and then pick off all the other guards in the area as they come to investigate the corpse. Yawn. There was one part (towards the end) when you're waiting for your ride to pick up you up and you have to "hold out" until they get there. There is 2 story building nearby and all you have to do is go upstairs and wait, wait wait. the 3rd and last wave of guard that show up MAY come up the stairs, but all you have to do is jump out one of the windows and hang out the ledge. There are just so many moments in the game where you can tell that the devs intended for it to be hard/challenging, but its not because there are so many easy ways around it.
At other times though, towards the end of the game, I got so pissed off i had to quit the game. Parts where you have to x amount of time to get somewhere, yet you have a bunch of armed guards in the way. The controls are so clunky and the aiming is so crappy taht you literally just don thave time to take them out, and the melee kills take a while too, and you can only usually get one of those in b4 the rest gun you down. I guess these are the times when they expect ppl to use mark and execute? But that still requires aiming at teh guys, and when you need to get through a gate before it shuts, you dnt have time to freak around.
- Length and locations - I didnt time how long it took me to beat it, or previous SC games for that matter, but it felt a lot shorter than most SC games. There seemed to only be a couple locations and then that was it. Previous splinter cell games have just been WAY more diverse in ttheir settings and environments than this one. Also, there just werent any of those cool areas or moments... Like, in previous SC games there would be a big area with guards on patrol and you have numerous was you could get to your objective, this game doesnt really have that, and is way more linear in every way. It just felt like I had no choice but to do exactly what the devs intended for me to do in every situation.
There was one level that kinda reminded me of the SC games i love, at the beginning of the level when you break into 3rd eschalon, and you can't be spotted by the guards or cameras. There is a big (for this game) 2 level parking garage that you can go about getthing through a couple diff ways. While trying to come up with the best way past the guards w/o being detected, i finally ALMOST felt like i was playing SC again, for about 5 mins.
Was it fun? yeah, at times. Was it worth the money and DRM? no way in hell. I think i would have had more fun beating SC1 or chaos theory again, TBH. Another good game series, dumbed down and injected with action to appeal to the masses, another instance of sales meaning more than pleasing fans of the series.
after knocking off a point for the piss-poor 3d support (yet AC2 is really good in 3D?), it gets 6/10 from me.

I just want to know, if the game is playable with 3D vision. When this topic started it seemed you can fix the 3D vision issues via finetuning. Then there was a tremendous amount of posts which stated that the game is nearly unplayable with 3D vision. I found the posted 3d vision screenshots to be impressive enough to give it a try but I remeber several posts about dramatic framerate issues. At last the negative posts exceeded the positive ones by far.
Now here is my problem: Beside Splinter Cell: Conviction I have Assassin's Creed 2 at hand (which is impressive with 3D vision) as well as Just Cause 2 (even more impressive 3D-wise)...
......but I would like to play Conviction first (only if it is possible with 3D vision)
If you say that it's ok with 3D vision (after finetuning of course) I will start with Conviction.
If you say that it is not playable at all with 3D vision I will put it back on the shelf until there is a profile or maybe I will even sell it.
Is there anyone who played the whole game with 3D vision?

What is your hardware you use...?
My e8400 gtx285 had a framerate from 9-24 fps in 3d per eye. (in 3d,everything on high, shadows off)
Then I upgraded to e8400 with gtx480...+- 11-30 fps per eye
Another upgrade I7 930 with gtx480 ... +- 17-30 fps
And now with the new 257 drivers +- 25-35 fps !
It play very wel in 3d,but you have to adjust the setting to your personal likings...
I like it in 3d,played alot of hours...,co-op and single player

Dont know if anyone Cares anymore but ive tested all the spinter cell games in 3d and came to this conclusion
Splinter cell (1) id rate "good" some items render at wrong depth. you see double with all lights
Splinter Cell: Pandora tomorrow: good same as 1. but you will find a problem with the projected lighting and shadows. this issue hasnt been fixed yet to my knowledge and kinda breaks the game anyways.
Splinter Cell: chaos theory is rated by nvidia already at "fair" issues with shadows while in stereo. Unable to turn off in game settings Text highlight for 3d objects at incorrect depth
as far as double agent and conviction go im not sure what to rate them yet as i havent really played those enough to say.

Please help!

Some shots to show how it looks here...
