Outer Wilds
  1 / 2
Releases 5/30/19 on Epic Games Store, getting excellent reviews so far. Outer Wilds is a first-person space exploration game where you uncover the mysteries of a solar system stuck in an endless time loop. Blast off into a fully physically simulated cosmos and seamlessly journey from one planet to the next as you search for the answers hidden in the unknown. It uses Unity engine, so hopefully the Universal fix can work its magic for 3D! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZKJUMMCJvGM

I played the original indie project and it was pretty great for what it was. This should be a real treat.

The game runs on Unity 2017.4.19. I tried DHRs 2017 unity template but a lot of stuff is still busted. Points lights and shadows, Sky box is at the wrong depth, and a few broken effects.

I know I have had to use the unity 2015 fix on several games where the exe says it is Unity 2017.x.xx but the 2017 fix does not correct them - and the 2015 one fixes them perfectly. Worth a shot..basically try all 3 and see if any does the job..

I didn't try all of them, just the 2017 and one of the 2015 one and they looked the same. I'll give the oldest one a shot when I get a chance but I have a feeling the results will be the same. Even with the broken shaders the game still looks stunning.

I was gonna pick this up while the sale is still going on, hopefully it catches the eye of a shaderhacker for the few remaining shader issues. Game is getting really good word of mouth, definitely looks interesting..

Any takers? I'm willing to give it a shot but I'm currently swamped with work, I haven't even had time to play the game for more than a few minutes. It's probably going to be weeks before i can get around to trying to fix it.

Picked this up while its still only $14.99 on epic games sale. I tried all of the Unity universal fixes and can confirm sgsrules findings, theres a few shaders that still need fixing. Shadows are definitely broken, Unity 5.6 fix seemed like the best starting point as the skybox was correct - but I'm no expert on what else is off. Tried lowering some of the graphical settings, but made no difference. Will definitely wait for any potential fix, as this one seems way too good to play in 2D.

awesome! just checked it out real quick and 3D looks really good. thanks so much for a fix! One thing of note, it looks like you used newer d3dx.ini version for SBS/TAB ($\ShaderFixes\3dvision2sbs.ini\mode = 5), but without the new version of the SBS files in the fix's Shaderfixes Folder. Not a big deal, I just moved in the newer 3dvisionsbs.ini file to the folder and everythings working good. I know you do not use SBS/TaB, but it might confuse some people trying to use alternate output with this fix. I will test more when I get the chance, I also am going to see if I can disable the crosshair without breaking anything else (I play most games with crosshair off, too bad devs did not include this option).

ok played a little bit more and found 2 issues: 1) flashlight shadows - mostly seen when moving flashlight around, after a few seconds almost always pops back to looking normal 2) green hud elements are wrong depth when you put on space suit Both of these issues can be seen at the "Zero-G cave". From the starting area, ignore everyone and just follow the signs directing you to the Observatory. once you reach the upper level (before you get to the actual observatory) you will see a sign on your right for the Zero G cave. In the cave it will give you a suit with a jetback to put on, and flashlight to turn on. This suit is the same you will explore each planet in, so hopefully the green hud suit elements can be fixed. The flashlight issues can be seen by just moving around and looking at the rocks etc. There were some other gadets hud issues but nothing gamebreaking, these are the only 2 big issues I have seen so far. Everything else looks great so far, nice job. thanks!
