In 3D Surround I had to set everything pretty the same as in Dead Space 2 or Deus Ex (without 3Dcore support). Small depth with adjusted convergence - yea Like everybody else. Other way i have shadows broken and other usual problems.
I actually have a question about performance. I am on 5960x1080 res and that run by 3-way sli gtx480 (900mhz). I had to drop down just few things to get smooth 40-50fps but i have massive drop if i go with Ambient Occlusion to max. Did someone noticed that on his rig? I didn`t try with SSAO but HBAO kills my frame rate and i always keep Occlusion off.
This is usual frame drop at someones 2D setup.
45-50 fps w/ no AO
35-40fps w/ SSAO
28-35 fps w/ HBAO

I tried numerous times to get the bat fix to deactivate->activate the 3d vision service, but never seemed to get the timing right and gave up. Today I decided just to count to 10 after clicking launch. This timing will ofcourse differ on different systems. But on my system it is just before the bf3 icon appears in the taskbar, as I'm sure several others already have pointet out. The blinking square starts to not blink as smoothly just at that time. Just got it working and with a bit of fiddling in the settings get an ok framerate close enough to 60 in 3d surround.
Edit:
Just read the whole thread, gonna wait for a patch for good 3d support per usual :(

Remember all that this is kind of Crack to original game setup. 3D Vision is switched off at the moment to prevent from that what we all doing right now - Complaining about something what is not finished.
So from my poin of view please treat this as a test.

I bought and installed BF3 yesterday. Outside of the silly 'Origin' and Web launch the game started in my default <sic> 1024x768 which was greeted by a RED Nvidia on screen message similar to "incompatible screen resolution for 3D". Once in the game's video settings I changed to 1280x720 and *presto* 3D Vision. (the Nvidia message in GREEN on screen even mentions "3D Vision Ready".)
After adjusting depth and paralax to my liking, I went off and started playing the 1st few single player levels. Outside of a building that renders with sunshine on it in one eye and shade in the other eye, it looks 3D to me. With my glasses off, closer things have less ghosting then further away things.
I was actually going to steer clear of this game because of the lack of 3D and (reportedly) game pad support. BOTH appear to work.
So you all telling me its a 'fluke' ??
2x570 SLI 'Auto' settings minus 'motion blur' (don't personally like it) and with Vsync on (for the attached 3D TV). %50-60 load on both GPU's and fairly steady 60FPS frame rate.

^^ Seems 3D TV might work but not regular monitors.
Per Jimhans advice above I was playing around with the BAT file timing and I can get it to enable fairly consistently now. As he notes, you want to press the key to re-enable the service right before BF3 appears in the task bar. I found that if I open Task Manager and look at the process for BF3.exe, when its memory starts going up and gets about to 66MB used then I press the key and can get it 4/5 times. Unfortunately shadows are at the wrong depth and SLI does not work properly (GPU1 @ 40-50%, GPU2 @ 100%) and so performance is hurting as well. Looks like I'll just be waiting for the official patch... :(
edit: nevermind about performance, I still had folding@home running...

How did that work out for you? I went from 2x480 to 3x580 and it definately helped but the GPU usage on all 3 is pretty disappointing at times, depending on the map.

Can anyone share any thought how to run the game in dx10? I get black screen using multi-gpu, nvidia settings (gtx 590) on dx11. It only works with single gpu.

While it does depend on the map, I found I can have 4xmsaa on now (everything else @ultra) and have it still feel smooth.

Are there any updates as to when we will be getting the 3D Vision? I know that they said it would be in an upcoming patch, but does anyone have any idea what patch and when?
