I'm in the process of RMA'ing mine - it lost its mind and won't talk to the OS properly

However - that having been said, I'm waiting anxiously for its return as a 10' screen in 3D rocks incredibly large

And I can't stand to play Batman, Mirror's Edge, or Avatar in flat screen anymore

Im going to buy this soon as i save up £250 (me and my bro are going half's)

Anyway, Im planning to make this projector my main viewing screen.. i.e. Get rid of my T.V... you think thats wise?

Also how would i connect SKY HD/PS3/Xbox and computer all simultaneously? i would need one of those HDMI splitter device things, any1 have any knowledge of where to get them from? and also need to get my surround sound working, cant be watching HD Filmage on an internal speaker now can we?! I believe this beamer has a optical sound output? any other methods of sound output.. surround is vintage and i dnt believe it has a internal optical thing.

From what the majorty of people say it looks like a go way to go!

A few things that put me off tho is the,

1. Lower res
2. Purchase cost
3. Running costs ( replace lamp every year or so *£150-300* )

If they dont bother u go for it.

I wouldn't get rid of your TV if you like to have it on while you're doing stuff like cooking or on the computer. Running a projector constantly for everything or for things like Simpsons or Seinfeld re-runs doesn't seem worth it when you have to worry about lamp hours. I kept my 47" LCD for normal use and only bust out the PJ for games and movies.

I use my Projector for my main veiwing screen, I havent owned a Tv in about 4 years.
And this is the splitter I got from new egg.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16812270133

And New egg have 15ft hdmi cords for about 17-18 bucks each.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16812105830

Uhh the price recently increased, they were 17-18 bucks. Probably so many ppl ordered them since they were inexpensive but still, a normal sized hdmi cord from a local retail will run you close to 40-50 bucks.

I have my DvR Box from Timewarner, my 360, Pc, and ps3 hooked to the splitter and out to my projector and all works with no problems. It even detects signals and auto changes for you.

Just Thought I share my experience.

I know this a pretty newbie question, I don't know anything about proectors, but how does 1080p movie rips play from a PC with the Acer since it's 720p? tia.
For those who want to increase the maximum depth, as it is WAY too low by default on this pj, here's how to modify the registry AND KEEP it this way !

1st step: change the maximum separation in the registry

Found it!
http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtop...amp;hl=registry

--- Change limit of maximum Separation:
"MonitorSize"=dword:00000026 --- corresponds to monitor-size in "Stereo Setup & Test" section of nvidia's control panel. Convert this value to decimal and divide by 2 to get inches of monitor setting (38/2=19" for me here). Setting this entry to $a (decimal 10) means you're telling the driver you have a 5-inch screen. Why would you do that? It increases the maximum separation available to you in case you need it. I need it to play ONI in 3d because it's an OpenGL game and for some reason maximum separation shows very small effect. Lying to the driver and telling it I have a 5-inch screen tricks it into making maximum separation half of the screen's diameter since you're eyes are about 2.5 inches apart.

It can be found under HKLM\Software\Wow6432Node\Nvidia Corporation\Global\Stereo3D with regedit (minus the wow6432node for 32bit setups i believe)

2nd step: prevent nvidia from reverting the registry back to its default setting
http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=95306&hl=registry&st=20
Quote:

The problem is that the newer drivers for some reason always fall back to the default setting when you fire up the test application (or any other stereo app).
To prevent this, we just need to alter some permissions in the registry:
If you go the branch containing the settings (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\NVIDIA Corporation\Global\Stereo3D) then right click, navigate to "permissions"/"advanced" select "System" then "edit" and choose "deny" to "set value" - hit OK and you're good to go and aplly all of the other color schemes mentioned above.

Hope this makes you all as happy as it made me!
Can anyone verify that this works ?? I don't wanna go messing with my registry unless someone else tries it first :P

If it works, kudos ! That would be great !!

You guys must be getting tired of all these Newbie questions buy now, so on behalf of all us Projector and 3D noobs, Sorry

Ok so I'm on the verge on hitting 'Buy' but now need to think of the cables to buy, My PS3 will be around 4 meters from the PJ, and the computer will be 6-7...(I really hope thats not too far!!)

Obz the Connecting cable from PS3 to PJ is HDMI.. does quality matter? gold plated and all that business?
Now... I want the best 3D experience possible, so which cable do I buy for the computer-PJ connection? VGA or HDMI or what? some other people have been saying that longer cables give you sync issues... but then some other guy said old HDMI cables work best? Reeeeeeaaallly confusing!

Thought I'd ask you guys cause you seem more experienced, and some of you sound like u got some really niiice set-ups in your living rooms

Thanks

It worked with the old drivers ( pre .20? ) Now it doesn't work anymore... Nvidia seriously needs to give up the depth control. Let's us decide what we can and cannot do in terms of depth.

The standard Acer H5360 depth settings is for wussies. I can take allot more than the default 100%. The samsung RZ2233 clearly allows more depth with the default profile.

Not fair imho becuase the only screens that can go to very high depth are DLP beamers and TV's because of the very low ghosting.

Just got mine yesterday! In Canada.

Very nice, a little noisy but quite bright. Generates a LOT of heat.

3D has NO ghosting like everyone mentionned - and I could not see rainbows unless I am REALLY trying to look for them.

I just did a quick swap with my current Analog projector - and the first thing that went wrong... I had to flip the glasses upside down to see 3D correctly. Then when a 3D game started (or even the Nvidia test) it said that there was no 3D monitor connected, but displayed the image in 3D nonetheless. It did recognize the projector when connected directly as a AcerP001 (or something close to that). I will have to re-install drivers to see if it makes a difference.

My challenge will be to connect it properly into my setup...

My HTPC has a Xonar card and I am connected through an Integra DTC9.1. I have not done much testing, but right now the PC is only seeing the Xonar card as the "monitor". I am not sure either if it can pass through the 120hz bandwidth. If not, I will have to be creative to have both Digital Sound AND 3D... at 120hz.

Will post on my tests...

Wish me luck...

Just get a nice shielded HDMI cable an you'll be fine. I've got an 10 meter shielded cable i bought voor 60 euro. Cheap cables do not have shielding and are usually unsuitable for 120hz. My shielded cable works perfectly 720p@120hz.
