I'm not asking you to like my internet persona or any of the crazy things I do during my manic episodes.
I'm pretty sure my authism and bipolar disorder is pretty visible.
why do you need to know ?
you do things so people can thank you ?
Offcourse people can apriciate things they find usefull and important. And a well placed thank you is always warms the heart but you can´t be expecting that.
if you make something good, you get a thank you maby, if not then well it should not move you,
as if your work was done for the right reasons you don´t need a thank you to validate it.
Life is about doing things you think is right and worth your time.
it´s a whole differnet thing to make things for money. it´s called work.
I would like to learn to fix games but i just don´t have the time as i love everything,
i have so much to do i don´t know where to begin with. So occationally i give donations, possibly not even related to any specifix fix. But for example i have never even for a moment thinked to donate to you, as i think your posts paint me a self centered egoistic picture and i loathe people like that. HEAR I don´t say you are like that as I DON´T KNOW YOU, but you do paint that kind of picture.

When you work alone almost all of the time you become a bit egoistic.
100+ gamefixes later you do feel very proud of your achievement.
Obviously without the team of shaderhackers it would be stuck at 0.
I'm trying to understand the post above:
You are a bit egoistic because you work alone, but you're proud of your achievements of 100+ fixes that you attribute 100% of it was accomplished by other people working as a team and that otherwise you wouldn't have achieved anything?
Did I read it right? Seems a bit contradictory.

If I could remove the code to the assembler from 3Dmigoto 100 games would break.
This is impossible because it's open source and would just placed back and boom the 100 games would work again.
DarkStarSword said he needed an assembler that could handle any shader.
After significant amount of time the code was ready. Had the basics done when doing my first assembler.
I write the tools behind the fixes which means without our shaderfixers using that tool I would not be involed in any of those fixes.
Now that isn't the case as of last count it was 100 fixes uses the assembler.
Using 3Dmigoto I have been able to fix IL2 or at least make it useable and without glitches as noone else here has much interest in fixing this combat Flight sim after the developers screwed up 3D in pursuit of VR. 4everAwake has also fixed other games I really like such as COH2 and Sniper Elite 4. I am incredibly grateful to ALL of the people who have made this possible. I send money when able but nowhere near what I would like to or am capable of doing while trying to get by on a small pension. Maybe I don't thank everyone concerned enough or individually but I reckon I am not alone in this.
Please do not feel under appreciated or venerated. Some of us are part of the silent majority that is all.
Thanks, Flugan. You are one of the best of the best. A coding Top Gun.

I wonder why so many of us have these disorders... it sometimes feels like a thing from another world!
It has been a while I don't come to this forum, but this is a great community and I hope everybody here can feel appreciated. A while back I encountered a guy from this community playing VR From Other Suns, and it was amazing to find someone from a small community out of nowhere. Right now I am having a difficult time too and unfortunately, this seems to be common to good people that only wants to help others, well at least I think I am good :) Cant even play games right now, and it sucks :(
And I am not drunk like my nickname suggests :D

That's an interesting question J0hnnieW4ker. It's actually a hotly debated issue in the science and psychology community:
https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/ending-addiction-good/201503/is-there-link-between-intelligence-and-mental-illness
I have to choose my words very carefully lest I come across as a big headed idiot. So, for what it's worth, I want to state that I'm just some idiot on the internet - what the hell do I know!
Saying that, the old saying goes "simple minds are easily amused", which does hold true, looking at kids and their progressively sophisticated tastes as they grow older. One could say that while most people are happy with a 2D console experiences, an argument could be made that smarter people need more sophistication.
It doesn't help that 3DV requires a steep learning curve, fidgeting/tweaking, powerful hardware etc, all of which filters in a certain kind of person.
Certainly, looking at the resident geniuses that we have around here such as DSS, bo3b, Helifax, Flugan, and many others with amazing abilities (D-Man11's memory for example); together with how the community operates compared to the vast majority of other 'forums', one might postulate that the average intelligence level (and taste) of the community is significantly more refined than average.
It might then explain the trend why "so many of us have these disorders", as you put it.
Flugan, it seems to be a case of Dr. Jekyll Mr. Hyde with you, friend.
I have read that Bipolar disorder affects self-esteem and self-worth to a huge degree:
https://www.everydayhealth.com/hs/bipolar-depression/self-esteem-with-bipolar-disorder/
This does explain your constant need for attention and need for affirmation that we all appreciate you, and perhaps goes some way towards excusing the behaviour to some degree, depending on people's different points of view. We do appreciate that you are fighting your inner demons - I do sympathise that this demon is yourself. It can't be easy.
All I wanted to say was that, I do believe that this community has more than its fair share of geniuses, you included in them Flugan. Personally, I am also inclined to agree with the huge part of the science and Psychology communities who say there is a link between intelligence/creativity and mental disorders.
I'm really proud of our little community in its handling of the issues - we are mostly very tolerant, encouraging, and understanding.
Flugan, I want you to know that we all really do appreciate what you do. However, please, you must understand that a lot of people here are as smart as you, and your posts and behaviour do have consequences - they are not machines but living humans just like yourself, who do see transparently through your posts, edits, etc.
Someone smarter than me once suggested that you start one single personal thread and keep all your posts regarding your personal experiences in there. I feel that might be a good way forward as it will heal wounds and show your genuine willingness to help everyone, which I know to be true :)
You have every right to feel free to start other topics, but please, you must try to keep them strictly on topic - no mention of anything else except the topic in those posts.
With these in mind, you will likely find everyone will welcome you with open arms.
This fool wishes you all the best!

I think intelligent people in generally are critical of themselves and think too much. There seems to be a link between happiness and how intelligent someone is or lack of intelligence =)
Generalisations yes. I also think that people are too quick to diagnose mental disorders and the global mental health care of humanity is in a pretty bad state. Of course not to trivialise anyone here who does genuinely suffer from mental illness. Personally I was in my youth clinically depressed but I found my own ways to combat it and it doesn't seem to afflict me much now.
Flugan, People do of course appreciate your work, I am one of them. But have you considered trying to just get into making game fixes through the existing tech we have? People are more receptive to the final results in a game that can be played than the back end although of course that's of vital importance. I am sure you are more than capable of getting your head around it.
And hell knows we are lacking in those sort of people at the moment.

I agree with Necropants. If Flugan is stuck with the DX12 work, it would be best if he fixed some other games directly (if he's willing, of course). I have been fixing games almost non stop for the last 2.5 years and I still have a decent fixing backlog, despite "sacrificing" social life and changing my job schedule to have as much free time at home as possible (how do married fixers manage to do it?).
With universal fixes there is less work to do, but I can still think about a bunch of games that still don't have a fix. If there is a genre you like that usually doesn't get fixes (sports, multiplayer games...), it could be a good place to start.

Let's go back to 2013 when the DX11 war began. Bioshock: Infinite had been released as one of the early DX11 games. HeliX had stopped developing the DX9 wrapper. In a post in the forum he said he'll be back and he was gone for a long time just how HeliX usually was. During this time Chiri decided to create 3Dmigoto for some reason to bring his own DX11 wrapper to life. It surfaced on a kickstarterish site (kickstarter didn't exist yet where he lived). He raised quite amount of money when HeliX resurfaced and released the HeliX BioShock: Infinite game fix and wrapper for free.
Chiri abandoned the bioshock: infite kickstarter by telling people to stop putting any more money so it would fail. Chiri had been out of work and attempted to make a living out of 3D Vision. At this point all of 3DMigoto was frozen in time. Chiri got a real job and has time left for 3D Vision. HeliX said goodbye and disappeared for good as well.
Late in 2013 I thought that the only person that would create a DX11 wrapper from scratch was me. I'm very sure that this is true. Things progressed well. A lot of time was spent on writing the assembler. By dumping more and more shadercode I could run it all through the assembler and see which instructions failed to assemble and iteratively get everything to assemble.
After this Chiri gave us the best gift possible. All of this is because of bo3b.
I was the first other member to join the team.
I was not brave enough to touch the code in any significant way.
Communication was also an issue when he lives in California and I live in Sweden.
We did have some early talks but the communication was very limited.
I continued working on my own wrapper in the meantime.
I ran into a brick wall as I needed invisible hooks on some vital function calls or MS would lock me out by overwriting my hooks.
bo3b posted some code hooking loaddll() to make sure 3DMigoto is loaded if the game tries to bypass 3DMigoto.
This solved my hooking problem and my wrapper was almost stable.
The AC4 fix is our first 3DMigoto fix.
Here I had a working fix wich I could easily load inside my wrapper.
After a lot work I made a change that made no sense but solved my AC4 crash.
From this point I mainly kept up with 3Dmigoto so everything would work the same.
I tried to get some shaderhunting going but it was always inferior to 3Dmigoto.
I was barely touching 3Dmigoto so far and my only major contribution comes next.
Suddenly we needed to fix compute, hull and geometry shaders as well.
The HLSL layer we use for VS/PS would not cope with this challenge.
I tried to create the best assembler possible which in my design means that I needed a lot of source material.
I wrote some slimed down wrappers just to dump and cause no harm. I dumped 103 games in total.
My process is very slow so I try to fix as much as possible each iteration.
Each iteration every shader is assembled and everything that fails goes to the fail list.
You could go one game at a time but then you don't know that a change here causes a fail elsewhere.
You might not be aware of the assembler but it is getting even more crucial to 3Dmigoto.
The main claim to fame in this story is that I wrote the assembler first. I'm very certain that DarkStarSword is very capable at writing an assemble. I mean HeliX clearly wrote an assembler. The key here is speed, we went from not needing an assembler to actively needing a powerful assembler pretty much overnight. I could pretty quickly provide what we needed. This makes me a 3Dmigoto developer and I want to get credit as such.
Thanks to the 3Dmigoto team(Chiri, bo3b, DarkStarSword, Flugan)
Thanks to the 3Dmigoto team
If thanking the team members remember to thank the whole team
Who wrote what shouldn't really matter as much.
I'm proud over my contribution, it is needed to fix many games.
The list may not be complete and credits go out all the individual authors or collaborators of a fix.
This should clarify what I want you to appreciate. I don't expect money at all. A post in this thread is enough or a friendly PM.

it´s a whole differnet thing to make things for money. it´s called work.

100+ gamefixes later you do feel very proud of your achievement.
Obviously without the team of shaderhackers it would be stuck at 0.
Thanks to everybody using my assembler it warms my heart.

You are a bit egoistic because you work alone, but you're proud of your achievements of 100+ fixes that you attribute 100% of it was accomplished by other people working as a team and that otherwise you wouldn't have achieved anything?
Did I read it right? Seems a bit contradictory.
Thanks to everybody using my assembler it warms my heart.
To have a critical piece of code that everyone can enjoy!

Please do not feel under appreciated or venerated. Some of us are part of the silent majority that is all.
Thanks, Flugan. You are one of the best of the best. A coding Top Gun.
