Are you saying you did get 3d vision mode working with this projector? If so would appreciate some detailed feedback on the results. I appreciate I only just replied to your earlier post so there has been some crossover here. Bear in mind that if you want 1920x1080 3d your options are severely limited. It won't work out of the box with any projector and you will have to 'hack' EDID etc. to get it working at all (*edited* except for projectors like Paul's, which are very unusual). Also, happy to be proven wrong, but no LCD projector on earth can compete with DLP as far as crosstalk is concerned. It's just a fact innate to the technology. LCD is an order of magnitude slower than DLP in terms of pixel response times. You won't see that in normal 3d blurays with limited depth and convergence, but 3d gaming totally exposes it.

I can recommend this cable: https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B00DC68BBO/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Works perfectly in 1080p@120hz and 4k@60hz HDR. If you need an active repeater for more than 10 meters use this one: https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B073CS72TH/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1. If nothing helps you can also buy Optoma UHD 40. Works perfectly in 3D without modifying anything ;) @rustyk21: At least now we know that with UHD 40 EDID override Benq W1700 is recognized as a Generic CRT display. This sounds very promising.

This sounds very promising.
Yes :-) Actually I'm really not sure what actually allows the generic CRT mode. I've always assumed that it's available as long as two conditions are met: 1. The display is 120Hz compatible (at certain resolutions) 2. The display doesn't advertise (via it's £DID) 3d framepacked/HMDI 1.4a 3d modes. I'm also fairly sure that nvidia removed and added CRT mode at some point during the evolution of their drivers. Probably when they realised that 3d was dying, which accidentally threw us a crumb. Moot point really as we are where we are. In a practical sense, point 2 is the most important. Any display which is officially '3d capable' will limit us to 3dtvplay and 1280x720@120hz or 1920x1080@24Hz which is of course the offical HDMI/Bluray 3d specifications (call it what you will). Hence why EDID overrides are important, to disable the 3dtv play limitations and enable 3d vision mode. *edit* to add, downside being that if the 3d modes aren't even recognised by the display device then you will always have to use the 3d vision pyramid and 3d vision glasses. There has been discussion about the dlp flash and contrast issues, but from my experience there is no difference. My disclaimer is that is as measured by my own brain and eyes :-)

He even made a special circuit board to make Nvidia think that the Vesa plug in addition to the USB plug for the emitter were being both used.

Ah yes, rollermod :-) That's a blast from the past. It also allowed us to do 3d in 1920x1080@30Hz rather than 24Hz didn't it?

hi some update, the overid is buggy, get like a red filter over it and 1920 x 1080 120z will not work with the overide, but if i uninstall the overide i get it to work with 3d on win 10 active and 3d on the projector active, if i turn it on with the overide i get a bluescreen, i have almost given up. >_<

Thanks for coming back with an update :-) I'm really keen to see a resolution to this. It's good for the 3d vision community if we can identify more projectors that are working 1920 x 1080 x 120Hz. I wish I had one of these projectors to play with, maybe I'll give it a go if there are some deals on Black Friday. I'm not an expert on EDID overrides, I suggested the Optoma one because we have someone here who has it working and they are both based on the same DLP chip. I think if you could take your default EDID then remove the HDMI 3d modes you might have more luck, as my thinking is that the nvidia driver by default will pick up the projector as being a 3dtvplay device. If you can remove the HDMI 1.4a/framepacking modes, it might see it as a generic CRT display. Regarding the red filter, again, that's a strange one but I know that with the DLP flash, some projectors in the past used the red segment to trigger the DLP shutter glasses, whereas most use the white segment. I wouldn't have thought that would be an issue if the projector is just trying to work @ 120hz rather than a 3d mode it recognises, but you never know what's stuck in the firmware. Please don't give up :-)

(which should be the default 3D mode). Does 1920x1080 @ 120hz work now? (I mean just the 2D mode with BenQ original EDID) You can also try another EDID override from a 720p 3D Vision projectors. For example this one: http://fixmanager.rentus.de/downloads/Optoma_HD67N.zip. I did some testings with it on my UHD 40 projector and it worked in 1280x720 @120hz and 1920x1080 @ 120hz 3D Vision mode. However in this EDID there is no 1080p@120hz resolution included by default (only a 1080p@60h resolution) so you have to re-add it via Custom Resolution Utility. Then the only issue was that the Nvidia driver detected that I did a change to the 3D Vision certified EDID and and therefore showed a red warning text "mode not supported" or something like that but 3D worked anyway in 1920x1080 @120hz. However there is a thread somewhere here in Geforce forum describing how to remove that red warning text. Edit: Here is the Thread to remove the warning text: https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/977745/

yes i get it to work at 1920x1080 in 2d and 3d without the overide, and the overid dont work all the time, if it fail, the glases wont work and it shifts the 3d in the glases, everything gets buggy, and well its not working like intended, my old benq w600+ have better 3d then this one so its a fail. i will take a look, no ide what you are talking about rustyk21, dont know how to do that, been trying alot to get it to work, but it gets way to buggy withe the old overide...
3dtv play wont work
Did you buy it and install the license? Tis $40.00 Or at least install the trial? Of course if you have the 3D Vision emitter connected, it acts as a product key and 3DTV Play is free. Once working, for dx11 games only that have a 3Dmigoto fix, you can use the SbS or U&U feature in it's .ini file to excedd 1080P24Hz.
