I managed to get a pair of passive, polarized 3D glasses. I read about this in many forums and I know what you're gonna say "you need state-of-the-art projectors, IZ3d, or something like that". Well, Nvidia used to give support to polarized glasses in it's drivers, so I know it's gotta be posible to use them in a common LCD 75 hz. Curiously, almost synchronized with the launch of their shutter glasses, they stopped supporting them in their new drivers /verymad.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':verymad:' /> , meaning that you can only buy their bundle if you want to experience a decent 3D stereo, or use the anaglyph glasses (which make the game unplayable as you only see in red, meaning that, how conveniently, you can only use them to try the 3d effect).
My question is if there is anyway I can play 3D with my passive-polarized glasses without having to roll-back drivers to the version that actually supported them (as I would not only have to roll-back stereo drivers, but also the main GPU's ones). Oh, and without having to get a new monitor (adding to the fact that IZ3d and nvidia's bundle are expensive /confused.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':confused:' /> , they are not sold in my country).

The cheapest display you can get that works with polarized glasses are the Zalman Trimon displays (Xpol circular polarisation, 1/2 vertical resolution in 3D mode). These displays are still supported by nvidia since Zalman paid nvidia to get support, but they also work with iZ3D and DDD drivers (which are graphics card independent).

In previous driver versions, nvidia supported every stereo3D display on the market.
There was no screen auto-detect mechanism in the driver, the user had to manually choose the display mode for his 3D display.
There was no "polarized" mode since there is no universal polarized display format but there were many modes corresponding to the various polarized displays on the market.
Since these old days, nvidia changed it's mind and started to ask money for driver support and introduced this mandatory screen detection mechanism to make sure you only use approved displays, and refuses to work otherwise.

Yeah. But for those who still uses old stereodrivers the old-school nvidia can be used if you have an older card and winxp. With newer games there are always iz3d or tridef ignition drivers that supports them excellently.

I have an alienware x51 with a GTX660 and a stereoscopic screen for 3D (works with polarized glasses). It is even written "optimized for nvidia Gforce experience" on it.
However I cannot use it anymore. It seams that polarized glasses are not in the setting anymore. Any idea?
