Getting Samsung - 55" Class LED 4K Curved Ultra HD TV 120Hz 3D with HDMI 2.0??/
Hello all,
My current Tv crapped out and since I had a warranty Best buy is replacing it. I opted to go with the TV mentioned above. I currently use 3D TV play for the Tv I had which was HDMI 1.4 and I could only do 1080p at 24hz.
My question is will 3d look bad if Im running my game at 1080p on a Native 4K 3d TV? Will I be able to run at 1080p at 60hz with HDMI 2.0? These are all questions I have. Im not sure if I should cancel my order and just go with a bigger regular 1080p 3d TV.
Ps Ive only used samsung because of their active 3D shutter glasses.

The bandwidth required to run 1920x1080@120Hz is just slightly more than 3840x2160@30Hz and is doable. 1920x1080@120Hz has a pixel clock of 285.5424, 3840x2160@30Hz is 262.9200. I've tried it on 39inch Seiki 4K. While 1080P didn't look great on the Seiki, I'd imagine it would look quite a bit better on a Samsung.
Whether Samsung or Nvidia supports 3D at 1920x1080@120hz is a good question. Nvidia only supports 1920x1080@120Hz via Display Port and Dual Link DVI as far as I know. But 3DTV Play works via a HDMI connection only.

Not gonna mix any words here: I don't see how it would matter whether it worked or not.

In its absolute lowest input lag mode, the lag is 73ms on that set (and that's in 2D mode).
TV's an absolute pig for gaming.

This TV looks beatiful even on 3D. However, the delay is unbearable. I am returning this TV because of that and the price.
73ms, for the PC mode, is still pretty horrible unless you're completely insensitive to it.
And I don't know that I've ever seen an HDTV that doesn't add significant lag when in 3D mode. A lot of processing can't be disabled when in 3D. So I'm guessing that set is an absolute train wreck in 3D mode.
It's really disappointing how many upscale TVs are worthless for gaming. I get why LCD needs it. Because it's a terrible technology that needs a ton of help unless you're going to go TN/120hz input/strobing. But some of the new OLEDs, which don't need the goofy processing to compensate for inadequacies and have lighting quick switching times, are 200+ ms for lag.
