When I just ran the demo the 3d vision tooltip said "crosshair in 2D, lazersight crosshair too dark to be seen because 2D crosshair cannot be disabled". Surprised the drivers (1.19) know about the game actually since it's just been released. I didn't actually try 3d in game though cause it couldn't find any servers, the demo is multiplayer only.

When starting up the demo it's rated at 'good'. Haven't been able to test it personally yet, whenever I select 'Quick Match' I am stuck forever at 'Searching for Game'. Maybe not enough ppl are plaing it yet...

The demo brings out one messy screen image when the match starts (in S3D mode), but when the 3D mode is turned off it is Ok... It seems that the demo is not based on the final code of the game, so when the full AvP comes out it might be better.

The profile says "AvP Demo" so I assume it's supposed to know the difference. When I go into S3D mode, it's just a screen completely filled with a garbled mess of UI or something. You can't see any gameplay at all.

I haven't looked at it, but I wonder what the odds are it's getting confused and using a profile for the original game that came out in 1999. The fact the profile says "Alien demo", when there was an Alien specific demo that came out in 1999 makes me think it's pretty likely.

Ah yeah, I remember the marine, predator and alien demo for the original AVP, and the exe has the same name so I think you're right. If that's messing up the 3D it might be worth renaming the exe and running it from it's folder rather than through Steam (steam will just think the exe is missing and download it again).

How do you do that? I renamed in SteamApps>Common>aliens vs predator demo>AvP.exe and it just won't run from that directory...

Yeah I was impressed when the 3D Vision profile info popped up after the demo loaded. "Finally" I thought, "nVidia have started to include profiles in advance of the release of demos/games so they're ready to play in 3D on day one instead of players having to wait weeks for the next driver update". Unfortunately, however, it seems that Vhold is right and the 3D Vision drivers are just mistaking this game for the one from years ago.
Anyway, for those who haven't been able to play it in 3D, all you have to do is adjust the convergence (the profile sets it way too high initially). Just hold down CTRL+F5 for a while (having first enabled advanced settings in the control panel) and eventually the two images will come into alignment.
Having said that, even once you've adjusted the convergence the game is very disappointing in 3D:
-Crosshairs are at screen depth, making aiming very tricky.
-Your weapon/arms are modelled at an incorrect scale relative to the rest of the scene so it's impossible to adjust convergence in such a way that your gun is nicely 3D and protruding slightly from the screen without messing up the rest of the scene. The only setting which gives you a playable view of the scene draws your gun far too far away from you.
-Spurts of Alien and Predator blood are rendered at screen depth.
-The predator's vision modes are a total mess in 3D with flat screen depth aliens etc.
-The marine's smart gun brings up a black and white rectangle which takes up half your view and has incorrect depth.
-The game doesn't properly draw to the edges of the screen when you adjust convergence so you're left with a vertical bar of messed up graphics on either side of the sceen. Cycling frustrum adjustment (which normally fixes this kind of problem) doesn't seem to help.
I'm sure there are more problems but those are just the ones I could remember off the top of my head. I was really excited about this game and about to preorder it but unless there are major improvements in the full game, I'm not even sure if I'm going to buy it at all now.
Cheers,
DD

It is not just the convergence issue, even after fixing the convergence what you see is not a true S3D, you need to completely get rid of the old profile. here is a quick solution not to load the profile for the old AvP game, it works just fine: http://3dvision-blog.com/aliens-vs-predato...d-vision-users/
