Fable 3
  2 / 3
I wasn't expecting a whole lot from Fable 3 on PC to be honest, but the S3D has sucked me right in! The devs definitely had 3D in mind when creating this port and I'm sure in the new WHQL driver this game will be upgraded to excellent, if not 3D Vision Ready if they fix some of the cut-scene closeups.

I am also however also experiencing bad performance in towns on my SLI 580's (even if I turn everything down to low) so hopefully a profile or something will help. Disabling vsync and enabling it in the control panel + triple buffering actually made it worse for me. I am playing via 3DTV Play.

Regardless, amazing game in 3D (and it support the xbox 360 pad - yay!!!)

I read that there is a way to manually adjust the convergence settings but I find no option that allows me to do this.
For the cutscenes in Fable 3 I usually reduce depth from 100% to 20% or switch off S3D as this works faster then reducing the convergence.

BTW You can play Fable 3 in windowed mode and still get S3D.

Interesting to hear that the FPS issue is not (only) the result of my old graphic card. So there is still hope that an game or driver update will fix this...

Like other games with graphics that are more "simplistic" (Dragon Age 1, Venetica,...)Fable 3 also benefits a lot from S3D. E.G. have a look at the rock faces: in 2D it is simply a "grey mud", in S3D You can discover much more details and the simple texture doesn't matter so much. Or the forrests and grassland: in 2D "green mud", in S3D really a nice impression. I can't imagine ever playing in 2D again!

Thanks for your help! But I hope that nvidia will solve the problem of close-ups and cut-scenes because the 3D is perfect but these defects very disturbing. a problem is always having to change the depth or convergence. This is a great game. Please Nvidia fix it! :)

I am close to finishing Witcher 2 today so I will probably play some more of this sometime this weekend. Going from that mature game to this lighthearted one is really going to be a change of pace! /tongue.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

It really looks nice and (compared to one certain other rpg that just came out) it runs quite well.
Just noticed that after a while the framerate begins to drop - it also seems to do that when you turn off and on the 3D while in the game (had a cutscene and couldn't really stand that convergence anymore so i turned it off for a second).
Not sure if its just my system or if there's something else going on.

Anyhow..just restarting the game fixes that framerate issue.

Hi All

The game was rated Fair since we didnt get a built in time for the last drive to rate it properly. We are looking at it now.

We will investigate the cutscenes and see what can be done.

Thanks Andrew - if you could also look into some of the performance issues noted in this thread it would be greatly appreciated. The game will bog down in towns and for me and maximum setting water reflections only render in one eye after loading into a new area - if you toggle vsync on/off this is fixed until a new area is entered. I'm running SLI 580's running the latest betas. I haven't tried turning SLI off yet to see if that problem goes away...

I'm almost finishing my 1st playthrough... and I created an album on 3dvisionlive.com:http://photos.3dvisionlive.com/helifax/album/4dfa59273785014864d50700/

I am sorry for the poor quality but is nothing I can't do atm. It seems the site converts very poorly the screenshots if the resolution is in Surround. Still it can give you an idea of how the game looks like.

Best regards.

I just finished this game and it's a great game in 3d. Other than having to alt tab to desktop and back every time yo change zone so that water, convergence and overall performance get fixed, it's a flawless 3d experience. Yeah the story is not at dragon age 2 levels, but it has a whole lot more variety in environments, and it's obvious that much of the efforts have gone into the social and economic simulator instead of an amazing storyline, and also to show that every decision you take matters and changes the world accordingly. Besides it has some really amazing realistic graphics at times, the snowy or forest environments for example, which somehow don't fit too well with the light hearted graphics of the characters, but still look great and even more in 3d. Showcase material in 3d imho.

I have an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 Ti.
When I turn water effects up in Fable III, the right eye view shows great reflections on bodies of water.(Sky, buildings, etc.)
But the left eye view does not.

So the warning that some objects may not render correctly is justified.

Kind Regards,
Don White
