3d movie player?

Which player do you use? Here's what I've experimented with: Nvidia Stereoscopic Player - Free, allows depth adjustment using parallax at the expense of messing up the aspect ratio, allows the use of ffdshow to improve playback quality and performance Stereoscopic Player - What nVidia's player is based on, but not free PowerDVD - Allows for depth adjustment, good picture quality, not free, doesn't allow the use of ffdshow Note: I know you can't have "true" depth adjustment for a movie, but I do like the ability to push it further back into the screen.

I barely ever use my 3D[s]ht[/s]PC for 3D movies, usually use the PS3 for that, 3D Blus and Vudu. I have tried the Nvidia Stereoscopic Player a few times here and there, most of the time it's missing codecs, even after I installed a pack, or there's some other issue. I haven't tried anything else other than TriDef's 3D Media Player during the trial ... which I must confess worked on almost everything I had that I threw at it. If I was really into 3D movies on my 3DPC I might have purchased it for that alone.

My preference would be to not use Tridef, just because it means changing cables. Another question I've got - some of the 3d movies I've downloaded seem to be a single frame out of sync for each eye. So on every scene transition, there's one frame where I'm seeing a frame from two different scenes, causing a weird flicker. They're all side by side, so I can confirm it's not the player by inspecting the actual video. Anyone experienced this?

Bino is a free player, I've never used it and know nothing about it. You can update Nvidia's player http://3dvision-blog.com/8619-how-to-always-keep-your-nvidia-3d-vision-video-player-up-to-date/

THANK YOU! I have a programmable mouse, and I like having the ability to skip back and forward in blocks of 3-5 seconds using mousewheel tilt. The old version of nVidia's player didn't have a shortcut for that, but the new Stereoscopic player does. I've now set it up so that I have mouse buttons to adjust "depth" mouse tilt to skip back and forth, a mouse button to play/pause, and it runs with Smooth Video Project so I can enjoy movies at 60fps. This is everything I could have possibly wanted.

Yeah I'm pretty sure that's what I tried but it still didn't work for me with most of the files I had.

I'm using exactly the same (fairly elaborate) rendering setup I have for Media Player Classic, but it runs through nVidia's player/Stereoscopic player. That tip to upgrade it was great.

Note to anyone else who's trying to play 3d movies with subtitles using Steroscopic player and Smooth Video Project for 60fps goodness: Choose subtitles or 60fps, you can't have both. The guide linked below will get subtitles working, but if both SVP and subtitles are active the player will crash. http://www.3dtv.at/knowhow/Subtitles_en.aspx

I can only add or remove codecs and not modify them. I can't get 3D Vision player to play .ssif files from blu-ray 3D as it spits out a generic "Perhaps a codec required to run this is missing" as it don't tell my which codec is missing I have no idea how to fix this. All I want for Xmas is to play 3D blu-ray from iso with Smooth Video Project 4 Pro in glorious 60FPS.

Stereoscopic Player is not that great honestly, and the Nvidia license downgrades it further. Try restoring the original license file and see if it'll play. As for ffdshow there should be an icon in your taskbar where you can change the settings when you're playing a file, try playing something that works (this goes for Stereoscopic Player as well, you have to play a working file to change filter settings). It's also good to make sure everything works in 2D also before going straight to 3D, for example maybe you have not properly circumvented Cinavia protection like D-Man11 said elsewhere.

Cinavia has only been around a few years and I'm not sure if it's used by everyone. So older movies do not have it and maybe not all newer ones. I think there was a list somewhere, that I recall seeing. I messed with ripping 3D Blu-rays several years ago using Auto Rip n compress. It was a third party app with integration into Windows Media Center. http://web.archive.org/web/20101225091338/http://thegreenbutton.com/forums/t/81697.aspx?PageIndex=1 After my Hard Drive died, I never messed with it again.

I Use Arcsoft Total Media Theatre. Yeah it's pretty expensive but it saved me alot of headaches messing around with the alternatives. Which ended up more than worth the asking price
