When will we see displayport 1.2 on a Geforce,Kepler?
After seeing the new displayport 1.2 spec I cant help but thinking Nvidia needs to incorporate this in their lineup.
The new Radeons have 1.2 already, why is there a need for 2 dvi ports why not 1 display port, 1 HDMI and 1 DVI?

This was taken from an extremetech article :

"High frame rate provides its own set of benefits, particularly for PC gaming and stereoscopic 3D applications. In regards to 3D gaming, very fast action is common, and that yields a desire for 60-fps image refresh. DisplayPort v1.2 enables 60 fps on a 4,096-by-2,160 display. For stereo 3D applications, this frame rate needs to be doubled, because each eye needs to receive a separate image. Therefore, 3D gaming requires 120 fps minimum, which is supported up to WQXGA (2,560 by 1,600) by DisplayPort v1.2"

Would this not be the ultimate in 3d and gaming? We are going to be seeing 30inch 120hz monitors with this support soon, which would mean not being stuck at 1080p.
I truly hope the Kepler line incorporates displayport 1.2, it would be mind blowing, and I do bleed green so I probably wouldnt switch but it would be disappointing for an enthusiast like me
to have to sit back and wait even longer for what I think is a no brainer(especially with Nvidia having 3dvision and AMD having to use 3rd party software).

Any thoughts , does anyone have any leaked info about the upcoming connectivity?
You know what old Jack Burton says at a time like this, it's all in the reflexes....Big Trouble in Little China

BTW I just saw an EVGA GTX 570 with displayport 1.1 so thats a step in the right direction. It has 2 DVI 1 HDMI , and 1 displayport
so it doesnt exhaust air out of the back. This is no good imo, it needs 1 DVI,1HDMI and 1 displayport for rear exhaust.

I'd rather have the 2xDVI and an HDMI to be honest. I have no use for a displayport, at least not for a good while.

For what purpose? Are you going to be using both DVI ports? the current cards cant support 3 monitors.
Im trying to game with 120hz at 2560 x 1600 , the only tech existing is displayport 1.2

Yes, actually. I have 2 22" LCDs plugged in via DVI and an HDTV nearer my bed plugged into the HDMI port, if I want to watch something in bed I can switch to output through the HDMI port instead of the secondary monitor.

That being said since I got a new card and use my 260 as a PhysX card I can have them all on at once.

The connectors not actually very useful without monitors that support it.

And Dual Link DVI is limited only by the copper boundary, most of the interesting display port features (i.e. daisy chaining) aren't supported by any of the devices.
Personally I thing display port missed the boat. A few stake holders (read Dell) will continue to push it, but I don't see wide spread adoption.

TV's will continue to use HDMI in one form or another, and monitors will likely continue to support DVI.

FWIW I use both of the DVI connections on my GTX580.

You see, the monitors will be available later this year and hopefully kepler will support daisy chaining, why would you want to hold progress back,
imo if everyone thought like you we would still be using vesa local bus with 1993 wolfenstein(good game) graphics, just sayin

I totally agree with the OP this will be the determining factor on whether I go with ATI or Nvidia for my next purchase. I currently have 4 gtx 480's my next purchase will have display port 1.2 tech because my next display when they come out will be able to do 2560x1600 @ 120hz

Thus

DisplayPort
v1.0/1.1 = 10.8 Gbit (360 MHz)
v1.2 = 21.6 Gbit (720 MHz)

2560x1600 @ 120 hz = Bandwidth: 17.5 Gbit (w/overhead) or 491.52 MHz.
