Hi,
Few days ago I decided to replace my Sony kdl-40hx750 3d TV with a W1080ST BenQ projector. When I was still using my Sony TV all supported games ran perfect with 3DTV Play, whether 720p@60Hz or 1080p@24. I was still playing Batman Origins at 720p on the TV before I got the projector. But now with the projector, every time I run the game in 720p I get 1280x720@120hz is unsupported message. Even if I set my desktop to 3D resolution of 720p@60hz before I startup Batman AO.
Basicly same issues as this guy: https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/573000/3d-vision/benq-w-1080st-3dtv-play-help/
For solution I was thinking if replacing my projector's EDID with my Sony TV's might work (if possible). I haven't done any EDID overrides before, so I'm clueless :/

Something tells me that nvidia screwed up when they set that projector up. Its strange that every single person on that thread had same display.
Use a EDID override for a projector. Information is here.

I've never done it but you may want to read up on it some more. ViewSonic PJD6553w or any "1080P 3DTV Play compatible" display would prob be best fit.
Yeah, for some silly unknown reason some games don't like the Benq-1080ST. The easy fix is to use an EDID over ride. (I'm using the one I had created before for my Samsung 3DTV).
Sad really as embedded in the EDID is some color information which could be helpful in getting more accurate colors on screen. (sigh)
Funny, Nvidia and Benq "claim" that the 1080ST is "3DPlay Ready". (sigh)

@mbloof
I may be wrong but I'd recommend a DLP projector edid override instead. DLP handles colors alot differently [namely blacks/darks] and it might not be perfect but close.
------
I'd contact nvidia and give them your edid. There is probably like a typo or some crap when they set it up. This is not a hardware issue or anything.

I couldn't find a 1080p AND 3DPlay compatible projector in the link. I'm using Sony-KDL55HX729-EDID from this thread http://3dvision-blog.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2026 and all seems good now... I think colors got more saturated though (not bad TBH) :)

@eqzitara, yeah your likely right in the color might be better if I used a DLP centric EDID over ride vs the one I made for my Plasma TV. One of these days I'll capture the Bq1080's EDID and send it off to Nvidia with a note asking why a "3DPlay Ready" projector needs to be over ridden to work 100% of the games I play with their hardware+software.
Seemed like 1/3 of the titles I had loaded at the time would not work with the default Benq EDID.
Then again, my guess is that Benq fumbled the EDID on their end. I've seen that there is newer versions of the firmware that enable more 3D modes. I wonder if it also fixes the compatibility issues as well.
(sadly, if you can find the newer firmware a user has to jump through some hoops to get it loaded on your projector)

My W1080ST came with the new firmware (1.04 - same as 1.07 for the W1070). The added 3D modes came with ver1.03 (1080p SBS and Top/Bottom). Even with new firmware, I still had same 3DPlay problems as with gamers with older firmware.

I bought mine shortly after release so I think I have v1.01 or something. Thanks! I guess that is good to know.
