I was wondering if this was possible. Is there any way of playing a normal 2D avi movie, and it being converted to 3D? I know some of the samsung 3D tv's do it, and i know its not all that good, but it must be the software that does it, so is it possible on 3D vision?

Depending on the source, the effect can range anywhere from poor to decent. I've tested PowerDVD 10 with a DVD of Everybody Loves Raymond and it was okay. Not bad, but not great either. Not really worth investing in until the software matures a little bit.

By far the best converter I've seen is tridef movie converter, it really achieves a very decent 3d effect in real time, far from any real 3d, but still surprisingly good. I tried 3dfier once and it was awful, while PowerDVD was worthess imho.

My Samsung 3D TV has this feature, but it creates a strange wave pattern in the depth. It's almost impossible to describe without seeing it firsthand, but basically the depth is not consistent from the top to bottom of the screen. It's almost as if you are still viewing a 2D image, but with the screen being curved in such a way that the center is closer to you than the extremities. It's not really an 'enhancement.'
