3D VIsion - "current mode is not hdmi 3d compatible"
I have an Epson 2030, which says it supports 1080p 3D at 24/50/60hz. I have a GTX 780 ti, which is supposed to have HDMI 1.4b. I have a 1.4b HDMI cable. HDMI 1.4b is supposed to be 1080p 3D@60hz compatible. However, I get the "current mode is not hdmi 3d compatible" message, and cannot select 120hz on the Epson 2030. The 780 ti page says "1 - 3840x2160 at 30Hz or 4096x2160 at 24Hz supported over HDMI. 4096x2160 (including 3840x2160) at 60Hz supported over Displayport. Support for 4k tiled MST displays requires 326.19 driver or later." Do I need a display port to hdmi adapter? Help? :(

it seams 3d vision software is limited to 1080P24 or 720P60 anyway. I don't know for you but for me using a display port with an HDMI adapter didn't change anything for me. Also are you sure your EPSON support HDMI 1.4b I have a samsung TV and I was supposed to get the same but in fact 1080P60 was only possible using 3d mode such as SBS or 2d to 3d conversion, not with active 3d through HDMI and such mode as SBS are not supported by 3dvision. Very frustrating.

3D vision is supported only with DVI-D, or DP 120Hz. (There are no projectors which support 3d Vision 1080p 60Hz, only 720p). Epson 2030 does not support 120Hz, there is no 3d Vision support 1080p 60Hz. p.s. TV (when connected to PC) is 60Hz only

Ok, none of these have really answered your question completely. As Mistersvin said, "3d Vision" is only supported over DVI-D. That allows for 1080p @ 120hz. If you're connecting something via HDMI, you'll be using 3D TV Play, which allows for 720p/60, or 1080p/24. 24hz is unplayable for most games, so you'll probably have to go with 720p/60.

first of all, check whether your projector is 3D vision ready or not, like here: http://www.nvidia.com/object/3d-vision-displays.html if it's ready, you still need 3D vision kit to sync the projector.

Actually 3d vision does work over HDMI and it works over VGA. I've used both with my projector, although it's only 720p not 1080p and I know that HDMI wouldn't support that resolution and refresh rate anyway. Mine is an older projector with HDMI 1.3 so only supports frame sequential 3d, which is what 3d vision is, whereas 3dtvplay is all about leveraging the frame packed 3d standards in HDMI 1.4. http://www.nvidia.com/object/3dtv-play-compare.html http://www.engadget.com/2010/03/15/nvidias-3dtv-play-finally-solves-the-hdmi-1-4-gap-for-3d-vision/ Because my projector is showing a true 120Hz frame sequential image, I can actually use 3d vision glasses with the emitter, or I can switch to DLP link mode and use those glasses instead. *edit* And sorry, to the OP, there might be ways around it, but your best bet is probably 3dtvplay as Pirate suggested, with the limitations that the HDMI interface imposes. Sadly there are many threads on here and we're all completely fed up that we can't realistically get proper 1920x1080x120Hz on anything other than a dual-link DVI monitor. Welcome to the pain of HDMI!

As an update, I bought the following cable and adapter: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00DI8A4HU/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00SOXO58S/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 but I can't even finish the 3D Vision Setup =( I'm a bit peeved and confused D: Shouldn't a DisplayPort 1.2 active adapter from the port on the 780 TI to an HDMI 1.4b/2.0 cable be fully able to display 1080p@120hz? http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/jsp/Product.do?sku=V11H561020 Even on the Epson page it says it supports: "Video Compatibility: 2D: WXGA 60Hz, WXGA, SXGA, XGA, SVGA, VGA 3D: 720p 50/60Hz, 1080i 50/60Hz, 1080p 50/60/24Hz" I'm so lost and a bit bummed out that I spent money on cables and adapters only to have nothing :( I don't think I can even watch blu-ray 3d now, where as, through my HDMI cable, I could.

Unfortunately, 3D Vision doesnt work via hdmi ! Right now (and i think it is forever) u're able to run 720p@60Hz or 1080p@24Hz

The 780Ti has a locked pixel clock and is not officially capable of 1920x1080@120 over HDMI. You can try the unlocker by ToastyX. Also 3DTV Play seems to have an artificial ceiling that will stop you. GL

seriously why nvidia testing on customers on high pay amount 3dvision kit2 . I was luckey that i dont hv it. I have lg cinema3d passive glasses working perfectly on Asus VG248QE 3dvision certified 3d monitor . One of my freind have 3dvision kit 2 he told me i just wasted money on this worst toy. Because colour depth and linear momentum of axis are not good in 3dvision 2. And LG cinema3d glasses are probably getting between 12$ or 15$ . It's just not new technology when i know nvidia 3dvision kit 1 first was produced between 2010 or 2011.First was failed now second was failing. Now they producing third one in future i dont know which time was. But i can say that nvidia testing on customers. When other companies like lg and other testing on themselves 3dtv or 3dmonitors . Then after they produce it on the sell. wufffffff............

Using 3DTV Play with my Glyph, I'm getting this error with a few games. "Current mode 1280x720 @ 120 Hz is not HDMI 3D compatible". In the Nvidia Control Panel, I verified the refresh rate is set to 60 Hz. But for some reason, the game is detecting 120 Hz. In the game, there's no option to change the refresh rate. I also tried forcing the refresh rate using 3Dmigoto, but no help. Is there anything else I can try? I'm new to 3DTV Play, so I'm probably doing something stupid.

There were two posts that I recall on this, but I couldn't find them. The problem is the way that the game is appropriating your display capabilities. It sees that 120Hz is available in the registry and applies it. The solution one user posted, was to simply override his existing EDID with one from a 3D HDTV. If I remember correctly, he used one from 3D Vision Blog for a Sony. Another user either used CRU (Custom Resolution Editor) or an EDID editor to remove the 120Hz resolution bytes from the data block. Edit: I found one of the posts https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/535047/3d-vision/benq-w1070-3dtv-ready-i-cannot-pass-the-setup/post/4319811/#4319811 Edit#2: I found the other post I was thinking of, it's actually a solution for DSR from the same poster linked above. Thank you for the suggestions, birthright & D-Man11. I found one way around my problem was to play the game in SBS, instead. (enable HDMI Checkerboard in the Nvidia control panel. Then use 3Dmigoto to toggle SBS mode in-game). Anyways, I only encountered this error in 3 games so far (Unravel, Halo Spartan Assault / Strike).
