Vision + PS3 + Avatar
Hi everyone,

I was able to get vision working on my computer so I tried playing Avatar on PS3 with 3D Vision and a computer.
I plugged the glasses to the computer running the DVI to HDMI to the projector Acer H5360 and the yellow RCA cable to the PS3.
I then ran the medical test from NVIDia so the IR and shutter glasses are activated on PC and then switched to the PS3 for Avatar (the game).
It works well BUT... theres some weird color shift happening. The same color shift as when the C1E was activated on my computer but this time its alot more pronounced.

Does anyone know how to solve this?

I think because you are shuttering for 120hz display, have you tried making it so it thinks it's shuttering for a chekerboard output (60hz).

I think because you are shuttering for 120hz display, have you tried making it so it thinks it's shuttering for a chekerboard output (60hz).

How do I make it shutter @ 60 hz? My projector always sets itself to 120hz even when I set it to 60hz in the 'test stereoscopic'

I also tried plugging the ps3 to the HDMI port and the computer to DVI / VGA port but still doesnt work /blarg.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':/' />

I've been thinking a few minutes : with the glasses the colour shift is normal, it's due to the way DLP projectors work.

The main problem is that the PS3 and the PC output are not synchronized, making the glasses switch eyes while the picture is still being drawn.
DLP projectors display each primary colour component (red green blue) separately, one after an other. When the glasses are properly synchronized, the eye switch occurs in the dark time when the projectors internal DLP colour wheel is changing the the active primary colour.
In you case the two are not synchronized and the eye switch occurs in the middle of the display of one of the primary colours component. Since the shutter glasses do not switch instantly, they cause a small dark time. Your eyes will see the picture during less time for this primary colour, so this primary colour will appear way too weak hence the colour shift.

What puzzles me though is whether or not do you get 3D with the PS3 on the Acer projector. Avatar does not support native frame sequential output (for 3D vision support it uses the Nvidia API on the PC which does not exist on the PS3). Do you even get 3D at all ? What 3D mode did you choose in the game options.

I tried all the settings available on Avatar and it worked when I used line interlaced using the Yellow RCA cable (minus the color shift). I dont even see the 3d effect when I tried connecting the HDMI cable to the ps3 /confused.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':confused:' />

The Acer H5360 does not support the 3D sync cable. The mini-DIN-3 port at the back is for RS232 only.

I didn't know Avatar could use SD interlaced mode or even that this projector could use analog SD composite for 3D input but the fact that it works does make sense.

In this case the projector takes 60Hz interlaced input and double-flashes it to produce the 120Hz output. This is a very good find (although it's only SD video). One good question would be whether or not this projector could be able to do the same trick with interlaced VGA input signals (i don't know if the PS3 can be configured to produce such a signal though).

I'm afraid the color shift issue cannot be fixed with nvidia 3D vision glasses on this projector due to the sync of the glasses.
The only solution would be to either play the PC version of the game, or to use DLP-link glasses which sync directly with the projector.
