I tend to agree with Helifax even though I would watch every movie in 3D just because it's a little bit more immersive. Last one I watched was Doctor Strange and I loved the 3D effects but yeah it's not even close when it comes to 3D gaming. I think a 3D projector would be much better for watching 3D movies but that's out of the question since it's too expensive for me and I don't even have the room for it.

Problem with movies in 3D is you do not have control of the perspective, it's a completely more significant experience when it's interactive, doesn't help they mostly half ass it with gimmicky popout sequences and fake depth. I am not surprised most people have disdain for it and projected this same outlook to games. Although if they actually tried it they would soon realize it's a completely new ballgame.

I think most of the cases if you have an oppinnion on 3D movies being Bad is because of lack of proper hardware, screensize, Interpolation, and most of all its not filmed in true stereo. The layerish feeling comes from none other that post processing 2d material.

Gravity looked fantastic in 3d, but unfortunately a lot of the cheap 3d conversions gave people eye strain and looked poor. I'd still pay to see movies in 3d, but only if they were made for 3d.

There Are good conversions like mad max and i gotta check miss peregine... But when evere you happen to stuble into one thats filmed real stereo your Fist thought Is man this is so from another place than the conversions. And the reson is just the fact That to get an good conversion you would have to depth map. Every scene. Offcourse movies with lots of digital after efects Are more easily converted as the efects ect Can be rendered in stereo but still the layer effect occured if there is no depth mapping on the 2D scene.

You missed my point there a bit Metaloholic, I was in no way suggesting movies should be interactive, I agree 360 interactive movies would kind of be a stupid idea. I was saying the reason why people didn't take from it is how generally poorly implemented 3d in these movies are. Name me the movies that are actually true stereoscopic and designed around this experience and not just converted to 3d with some gimmicky sequences. There really is not many, and every movie I have seen in the theaters has been underwhelming at best to the point in some case i even forgot they were 3d at all. On the other hand, If it wasn't for 3dvision gaming I probably would hardly be playing games at all. it's a much more powerful experience.

I agree with Helifax to a point, that 3D movies when compared to real 3D with real-life proportional perspective is so piss poor that it's ammost not worth bothering with. But from my recent experience with an LG TV (even with badly installed filter), i can definitely say that for me personally, if I can see a movie in 3D, even if it's a conversion (which nowadays are miles better than at the start), I will always prefer the 3D version. A friend of mine lent me three movies, to test the TV. Jungle Book, How to Train Your Dragon 2, and Tin Tin. Now, I admit that I only have 3D experience with a 2011 Asus 27' monitor. But these movies, on the LG TV, looked out of this world. I still don't know whether they were 4k or most likely 1080p since I don't think 4K 3D exists yet. But me and my wife we were trying to understand what more could have been done to improve the image quality of these movies and could not come up with an answer. Yes, ok, maybe if they would have a higher frame rate, or no ghosting at all, but they already looked mostly as holograms hovering in our living room. Basically, the single most improvable element is lack of depth, of course. But I was talking about image quality in general, not depth. And that's the biggest disconnect between the entertainment industry and the technology industry currently, which I really don't get: on one hand you have movies, even conversions, looking insanely great as I've just experienced, with people buying more and more the 3D version of any movie, and paying for 3D version in cinemas, and on the other hand you have TV makers doing away with the 3D feature. Is this not a strange conflict of interest, bound to blow in their faces at some point? PS Keep coming the 3D movies recommendations, I'd like to buy them all, especially the ones you guys say are great, and with good depth.

Maybe it is because you guys are playing ripped versions via Stereoscopic player or Nvidia's player and Setting ID_0x709dea62 is making it flat? Try removing it.
