Just Cause 2 (SLI CUDA WATER)
  1 / 2
I have been trawling the net for an answer to this but cant find a fix. Has anyone managed to find a work around for advanced water effects with SLI enabled? I have a GTX295 and with Multi GPU enabled in the Nvidia control panel the GPU water effects are not working. Only when you disable Multi GPU does it appear. Its cool for the moment as I can play in 2D with decent performance but switch on 3D running a single GPU and it struggles.

Looking at the update info on Steam they patched the problem with the demo, but its back in the full game?

Can any of you space age whizz kids help? /sweat.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

I currently have a sli system and can select all the options, and they all work  ( 8800 gtx sli ) so i dunno what to suggest. /confused.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Sounds like you may have to wait for a patch?

How do you mean not working, are you not able to select the GPU effects?
I have a 295 with an extra physx card and I am able to select the water effects and I am very sure the GTS250 is not doing a thing as it does not heat up nor shows any load so its all about the 295.

I have exactly the same setup as you! I can select the gpu water effects no problem with SLI enabled. 3D vision is super smooth. But the water is not cuda enabled. You can test this for yourself by disabling multi gpu and loading up the game again! You'll see the water looks amazing! Switch SLI back on and it looks like Xbox 360 gfx!! Guess I'm gonna have to wait for a patch?? My GTS250 doesnt seem to be doing anything either?

I have a 285 sli setup and just tested this. The GPU water effects work fine for me. I disabled the GPU water effects after running the test to see if I could see the difference and it was readily apparent. The GPU water is definitely working with SLI on my setup. I am using the lastest drivers that were released: 197.13.

what type of frame rates are you getting with SLI and GPU water effects enabled?
I'm getting low 20s if that high.

ppl are wondering if they can offload the CUDA to another card

Wierd? Im using the same drivers but cannot get GPU water working with SLI enabled? Might try a clean driver install again and see if it makes a difference!

Thanks for letting me know its not the game at least!

Yeah, I'm getting pretty low framerates in 3d mode on this game. I would guess that my frames are in the 20s also. Even lowering some of the settings doesn't really seem to help it much. The game blazes along nicely with all options set to max when I disable 3d, so I've actually been playing it that way most of the time. The 3D mode looks a lot better but the low framerate is hard for me to deal with in this game.

I don't have a dedicated phyxs card so I don't know if that would the problem or not.

Problem is that it's CUDA and not Physx (although Physx is done with CUDA. I THINK) it appears the CUDA doesn't get offloaded to a seperate card.

i dont get bad frames?

i get 60 most of the time. but i just cant use cuda water effects with sli enabled. not because it gives a bad fps. it physically doesnt work.

any ideas? :(

I thought the way the water looks is how it was supposed to be. I thought it was strange that people were like, wow, with the cuda water. Mine doesn't work with SLI GTX480s either then. Has anybody got a fix for it yet?

There needs to be a patch for the game. As some others have said, the code in that game is just a mess. The devs' haven't said anything with respect to a patch. The JC2 forum mods have just said "they're working on a patch" but that's about it. (I don't envy those mods)

It's really a shame as this game is beautiful and has alot of potential but the support just doesn't seem to be there.

Just to let you guys know,

i just tried every option i could think of using the 257.15 drivers, selecting CUDA Gpu's etc. But still no luck.

im gonna do a driver sweep and fresh install of my cards. I'll let you know how that goes. - i wouldn't bother, but i've seen people state that its working with SLI'd GTX280s...
