The virtual 3d-mode certainly isn't without faults though. It only works decent at low depth and without popout or closeups. Another game which works better in virtual 3d-mode compared to "true-3d" is crysis since it suffers a lot from artifacts of different kind.

I find Crysis more appealing in true 3D mode, you lost shadows but the S3D immersion you get is far supperior compared to virtual 3D, in fact i only use V3D as last resort, the lost on depth/pop up is too big imo.
Eqzitara, HD3D is just one output option they have, you can select any other and run it with nvidia cards whith hdmi on any 3dtv.

Just install tridef ignition trial which lasts 14 days. Choose the appropiate display. In my case (Alienware optx aw2310) I chose direct3d 120hz. Usually games with profiles included in the software work best. Something to notice is that triple screens nor SLI are supported by tridef.

Now that's weird. Tridef 4.6 isn't showing my screen (Acer GD245HQ) in the control panel. Actually it's not even showing your Alienware optx aw2310. It only shows hd3d, some samsung tvs, acer laptop and some other stuff I don't care about.

Launch the control panel and select the last option ( generic or somehitng like that ) you can then pick up the output method no matter what display are you using, sbs, direct3d 120hz... whatever you need.

Actually it doesn't work. Enabling tridef direct3d 120hz with nvidia 3d vision has a weird effect on my games.
It shows the game twice (one in the half left of the screen the other in the right half) and both halfs have the nvidia's 3d vision effect.
Driver version = 285,38 beta (Should I try with another version?)

Are you sure? There's no indication anywhere about SLI support in their changelog: http://www.tridef.com/download/TriDef-3D-4.6.html
And the most recent official/user hits seem to indicate SLI support is still broken with DDD: http://www.ddd.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=944
I wish there was a list that contained game names and then beside each name there would be which software(ddd, iz, or 3DV) works best... half my game playing time is spent loading up a game with different software and spending time tweaking etc.. I don't remember since getting a 3d pc that I actually played a game.

There is a game list like you mention, of sorts. It's a work in progress that requires users inputs, but is looking much more complete since the first time I visited it several months ago. Head on over to "Meant To Be Seen 3D" and check it out. http://www.mtbs3d.com/m3ga/index.php?lim=30&grp_by=pos_gam_name&sdr=all&ord=&sdr_dev=
I've used TriDef for the Passive LG 3D HDTV that I game on in interleave, checkerboard and side by side with great results other than a little ghosting that LG is working on. Just disable Nvidia 3DTV Play first, open the game launcher, select tools then Display settings. In the drop down menu "standard display types" or any of the manufacturers, once selected offer various options via a second drop down menu. They even show "Dual Projection" the love. TriDef, Iz3D as well as Nvidia 3D Vision/3D Tv Play are no end all solution by themselves. I switch between all 3, depends on the game or format I feel like using atm.
