Using dominant eye to replace laser sight Horizontal offset, other ideas?

I think this is a great suggestion. Closing one eye would be the correct way to aim. I'm guessing that this would have to be implemented at the driver level since one eye would have to be set to the standard 2D screen and the other eye would have the offset - If you think about it, you could close one eye, disable 3D, shoot, enable 3D, and then open the closed eye. If they simply set one eye to the standard 2D view and offset (3D) the other eye, that would solve it.

yep this is an easy thing to implement, that's why IZ3D drivers have it
instead of applying same matrix transformation for both eyes (except one in the other direction), you just apply double that transformation for the eye selected not to be centered, and no transformation for the centered eye.

Yes indeed iZ3D has it, I've tested it quite a bit.
You need some time to get used to it but it works quite well. And it works in any game. Once you master it you can become extremely effective with this technique.
There is one annoying thing though : if one eye crosshair or iron sight is always correct and you can still use the in game crosshair, the other eye crosshair or iron sight is always wrong and cannot be removed, so you have to train to be able to mentally ignore the wrong crosshair. Iron sight are usually ok because the other eye is usually outside the scope but crosshairs are a different story : It is usable if the crosshair is small enough, but in games like Bioshock with huge crosshairs, it becomes impossible to aim, you always have this big thing in your face that does not go away no matter how hard you try to ignore it.

I totally agree that this should be a feature of 3D Vision. I've thought about this a lot lately but have been too lazy to start a thread. Blimey this is an old thread! NVIDIA, can you add this to your drivers for us FPS gamers? It would make those games (i mean ARMA2, not COD rubbish) much more realistic.

yes, the current list of like 8 3d ready titles is disappointing,especially considering that 3d vision has lower compatibility with games that ARENT 3d ready, than say iz3d.
a lot of titles play perfectly on iz3d (sometimes disable shadows), while i get a lot of issues on them using 3d vision driver, like 2d smoke, or "cut out edges" where particles intersect 3d geometry.

+1 for this topic. I'm suprised that Nvidia hasn't implemented this one, especially since the competitors have it. It would solve allot of aiming issues ;)

But this Nvidia driver issue has always bothered me and I wondered why they couldn't fix it. I have often used this with the iZ3D driver and it works quite well for me. No need for laser sight, the in-game crosshair works perfectly. My mind ignores the crosshair through my non dominant eye. It is the only way to actually play some FPS games. Nvidia should definitely add this to the driver. A quick Google search will lead you to a web tool to determine which eye is dominant.
