Glasses flicker is hardware related?
Just bought a brand new pair of glasses. Says 2010 model on the side...so they are fresh off the assembly line.

These glasses have no flicker even when my lights are on. My old pair of glasses would flicker all the time when another light source is present. They are using my same old base, same game...one flickers, one doesn't.

Any thoughts on this?

maybe they made some improvement. I know that external lighting has been an issue with the glasses in the past.

Sounds like an improvement, now they need to make the glasses smaller and wrapp around the eyes/face for people you dont need perscription glasses, pls nvidia give us a choice

It sounds impossible to me to "fix" ambient light flicker without doing some deeper changes. The onyl way I know to remove the environment flicker is to do the "sony" trick, that is removing the front polariser of the LCD glasses. It works well with LCD displays but makes the glasses unusable with Plasma or DLP displays. I Wish Nvidia could surprise me with something different !

I may have a question, when looking at your room (not the monitor) do you see a brightness difference between when the glasses are on and off ?
When looking at the screen and tilting the glasses 45 °, do the glasses get darker or do you get ghosting ?

I have a DLP and i have absolutely no flicker and all i did was click the option in the setup wizard that said 3d vision was the only ir transmitting device

We're not talking about this type of flicker, we're talking about the lighting in the room flickering under normal working conditions.

Just tried this out and there really is no noticable brightness differences between the 2 pairs. The new glasses seem a tad bit darker but that may be because they are new.

ITs funny, I think they may have had some design changes because my old pair flickers like its possesed when I open the courtains and a little sunshine gets in, while the new pair works fine even when the lights are on in the room.

Got a 3D Vision kit about a week ago so i should think my glasses are fairly new.

Mine still flicker, but i can't find the problem. Sometimes they don't flicker and sometimes they do. Lights on or off, night or day - they still flicker.

But it's not what i would normally call flicker, it's just a white flash every couple of minutes - is that what we're on about here ?

We're talking about when they go out of sync and suddenly you can see both images for a split second...before they go back to shuttering properly. You may have interference happening if it happens for you all the time. For me it only happens when lights are on or I pull back the curtains. With the older pair anyways...

Sorry i misinterpreted your first post, so you are talking about sync issues due to interference breaking the IR signal, I thought you were taking about constant visible flicker.

What I find is that the lighter the room is...the more constant the flicker is. If my lights are on...it flickers non stop. If its just a little window sunlight, it will flicker once ever 5 seconds...etc. I think we are still talking about the same thing.

yeah i thought so , well as i said i used to have that problem and i changed the setup wizard to only one ir emitting device in the room and it completely solved it , if anyone can replicate what i did
