There are about 30 or so .dds in conncetion with water - well, I am gonna rip all of them of their alpha channel. I am eager to know if this changes anything...

No avail - it seems it's indeed the shader itself we will have to change. Funny thing, once while ALT+Tabbing the game had the water correct in stereo 3d (given a little bland, but no graphic bug). At he same time other effects were off though (spell effcets, clouds around mountain tops). Looks like that ALT-TAbbing actually deactivated the shader.

This thread has been very helpful indeed!
I tried tweaking the 3D. But when I put the depth at anything more than 50% part of the menu goes off the edge of the screen. If I set it at 100% (setting the depth to max) it is unusable but with some convergence tweaking it looks really good. Am I the only one having this problem? Is there a fix for it?
Right now I have depth just below 50%, FOV=70 and tweaked convergence so close up objects just pop out the screen.
also:
What are some recommended settings for depth and FOV?
[/quote]
Try hitting CTRL+F11 to cycle frustum might help that? You might need to enable that in the advanced controls options in the nvidia panel, but if you can change convergence you probably already have the advanced options enabled. Also, I prefer FOV 90 but its partly personal preference. Have you got the latest driver? Check the 'archived and beta' driver section also you might need the beta one. I don't think anyone else has this problem.

Thanks for looking into it. While it would be nice for the water to be "fixed", it is not so bad as to overly distracting.

Thank you all who ploughed in and made these fixes !! Sooo glad people like you are around to do this. Everyone loves it, and the community sure still needs it too /biggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> Cheers !!
For those who are just arriving at this thread, and for my own clarity, would someone mind compiling what has been done so far, to bring Skyrim "up-to-date" in 3D?

Yes, I'm looking for any mod like this, and no lucky. I hate specially the zoom when drawing the weapon, specially for people using 3D because the convergence.

I play with the 360 controller and I can zoom in/out with the right stick button and move the stick up or down. /thumbup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

It should work. I did it with my 360 controller in the game also. You click the right stick to go in to third person view and then you can move the left stick up or down to zoom the view in closer or further away.

Can anyone please please tell me if they've had any success (FPS wise) playing Skyrim in 3D on a single GTX 460 on at least mid level settings?
I'm right on the verge of deciding to move into the 3D PC gaming world. The problem is that I know 3D requires twice as much from your video card and I can't afford a new video card (would probably go SLI 460) as well as the expensive monitor.
