Please weigh in about your 3D Vision Experience

Hey guys -

I'm psyched on the 3D vision setup, really want one. Ive been reading these boards a lot, and i'm a bit concerned about the number of negative issues people are dealing with - mostly flickering, faulty glasses, lack of functioning depth effects.
I understand that because these are forums, a large number of people are flocking to these boards with issues to be discussed.

Basically, does your system work without problems? (aside from ghosting or any other unfortunate side-effects)
How much do you use the setup?

Personally I love 3D gaming, I would never go back to 2D unless I had no choice. Yes there are a few issues, mostly with the drivers. But Nvidia does tend to fix them in the end. My biggest one is Metro 2033 and no 3d in DX11. It works in DX10 and DX9, just not DX11. For me games like Farcry2 (awesome in 3D) Bioshock 2 and Alien versus Predator (although not perfect 3D) just make is so much fun. It is so much more immersive than 2D gaming.

IMO, even though there are problems and issues, some big and some small. 3D gaming is just the best thing since the Voodoo chip.

Nothing makes the gaming experience more immersive than 3D visions....go for it! :-)
As for Metro 2033...not sure what your issue is but I can do DX11 and 3D vision with my 480 without any problems.

I thought the pop-out would be better, depth is really good, yes depth and convergence setting make a difference, the glasses makes things darker than i would like, hard to destingush keybord keys
Then i went can checked out a Samsung 3D TV, and found it very much the same as my nvidia setup, a few differences are samsumg tv bigger screen than my alienware, and the samsung glasses felt better to wear, lighter in weight, wrapped around the eyes better so less light could get in from above/below/sides, also the samsung tv screen was to shiney and reflected bad

The 3D affect of depth and convegnce (pop-out) was pretty much the same on both, Nvidia we can change depth and convergence, Samsung you cant

Turn off your Advanced Depth of field option (with 3D off) in the DX11 settings in Metro 2033 and restart the game (with 3d active) and it will work. I have been playing it this way and it is unbelievable.
As far as getting 3D vision, I would only recommend it but be ready for "tweaking".

Incredible experience, of course users will have issues but they are mostly fixable, lots of knowledge here if you have problems. GO FOR IT.

The 3D experience is great and all the problems people talking about are minor,,, my only advise is buy a big screen ( I prefer the upcoming 27 inch ASUS) or if not , buy the 24 inchacer 3d lcd or the alienware ..

How much do you use the setup?[/quote]

I barely have ghosting (Acer 24"). Most games have some kind of problem, limiting my use of the glasses, but when I find a game that works great (played out Bad company 2 a while ago and am currently busy with Just Cause 2) it is amazing and I use the glasses every time I play that game.

Go for the ACER 3D ready PJ and not the viewsonic. Read the review thread on this forum.

I've bought an Acer H5360 projector and the 3D Vision kit. It was all plug and play, no hardware issues whatsoever. 3D really is amazing at projection size :)

Games are a mixed bag. Fallout 3, one of my favorites, is quite good. Dead Space would be awesome but has annoying shadow issues. Metro 2033, which is 3D Vision Ready, is GREAT at 100% depth.

Everybody who has seen the setup so far is planning on investing in 3D. I can highly recommend the Acer H5360 too, great color and lots of lumens.

lol well, this isnt exactly the response i was expecting - overwhelmingly positive, no incompatibilities.
since there are 181 posts under the 'flickering issue' thread, full of users using a wide range of hardware and software... can i just assume its a crapshoot? are those people retarded? did you guys get lucky?
For my own reference, did you build your systems or buy gaming rigs?
