3D Vision: Prince of Persia 2008 not working flashes at slow freq due to in game option
This game got stuck at a much slower than 100Hz because of an in game option. My 3D Vision glasses do not work with this game at all even though both left and right images were there albeit at a slow and flickering rate.
I used RivaTuner to set the monitor refresh rate to 120 in Vista and it works for other games, but it doesn't seem to matte for this gamer, it always goes to a slower freq.

Hi There
By default 3D Vision overrides your game's in-game refresh rate values to 120 Hz so you dont need to select anything. You can change this in the 3D Vision setup wizard when the wizard prompts you about environment flicker, you can then choose to select 120, 110, 100, or use the in-game values. Rivatuner does not have any affect on this override we have added.
Can you go back and try the 3D Vision setup wizard, check what value you have selected, and then let us know your results? Page 18 in the Quick Start Guide shows you what this option looks like in the 3D Vision wizard.

Thanks for replying, this is such a pleasant surprise. We actually have an Nvidia employee trying to help the consumers out /thumbup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
Regarding your suggestion, I tried the guide and found out that this test for flickering only applies to LCD (page 18) and mine is CRT so it's not applicable. I tried and that option was not available. Does it mean CRT users are screwed?
Test Your Environment for Flicker
17. Test for flicker (applies to LCD displays only).
In any case, I've tested "Test stereoscopic 3D" button and the Nvidia test screen works fine in 120Hz, I've tried only couple other games ie The Witcher and Tomb Raider: Underworld and they both work fine in S3D, actually they look beautiful, better than the I-Art Eye3D that I have (tested concurrently on the same games at the same time for both glasses setup, each uses its own emitter of course). But this Prince of Persia just don't work with 3D Vision glasses. Note that at the same time, the I-Art Eye3D glasses would sync to that with noproblem albeit the flickering was terrible, but the S3D effect was there.
So the question remains I guess, how to make this game PoP works for CRT and 3D Vision? or what did I miss in setting up 3D vision?

Hello distant,
So if I am understanding you correctly, when you run through the 3d vision setup wizard, the wizard detects your display as a generic CRT, but you do not get the option listed above to adjust the refresh rate. Is that the correct?
What driver versions are you using? I am wondering if you may just be using an older driver without the profile.

Correct. When the setup wizard not dectecting a compatible LCD it prompts users with choice of CRT, DLP TV, etc. Naturally I select CRT and the wizard continues to show the left and right image test leading to the medical test. When done it shows "generic CRT display" in the "stereoscopic 3D display type".
Regarding profile, when entering the game it says something to the effect "excellent" and various thing but I turned it off with Ctrl Alt Insert.
I'm using the newest driver version downloaded from the 3D Vision page, 181.20 Forceware/S3D driver pair.
Additional question: Will this 3D Vison + driver pair work with the current Windows 7 - 64 bits beta? I'm thinking of trying it out only if 3D Vision is compatible.
Thanks

I just started this game and there doesn't seem to be any variance in depth. By that i mean the separation of distant and close objects are the same. Anyone know whats going on?

There is something wrong with the game since I updated from v290.36 to v301.24 . Depth is totally messed up:

But when I rename the exe to something else(PrinceOfPersia2008.exe), I get the old good Stereo-experience:

By the way:
Where are the stereo-game-settings stored now with v301.24?
Under "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\NVIDIA Corporation\Global\Stereo3D\GameConfigs" I can't find them. Nothing seems to be changing there.

Hi There
By default 3D Vision overrides your game's in-game refresh rate values to 120 Hz so you dont need to select anything.

Distant
Thanks ok we will need to look at why the CRT doesnt allow selection of the refresh rate override in the wizard.
Regarding Win7, no beta drivers are available at this time.
46" Samsung ES7500 3DTV (checkerboard, high FOV as desktop monitor, highly recommend!) - Metro 2033 3D PNG screens - Metro LL filter realism mod - Flugan's Deus Ex:HR Depth changers - Nvidia tech support online form - Nvidia support: 1-800-797-6530
