Which 1080p would you get ?
Hello

There is currently two 1080p screens on the market, I know the GD245HQ isnt yet but soon.

Only diff I seen between the GD245HQ and the AW2310 are that the GD245HQ has 300cd/m2 and 2ms while the AW2310 has 400cd/m2 and 3ms.

Dont look at price/brand but just the stats for 3D gaming, which one would you pick ? I know its not easy cuz there havnt been many public tests of the GD245HQ yet.

Also, I have been reading alot on these forums, but tbh almost nothing really helps me out. I see alot of topics about ghosting, and HD tvs not having any ghosting or darker screen etc. But could someone just answer these questions.

What causes ghosting ? (Is it ghosting like in 2D with a slow responce screen ?)

Why doesnt a 120HZ HD TV have no ghosting ?

Screens get darker, so does 400 cd/m2 change that ?

I think it would help alot more when people tell what you need to get on a screen to run 3D games. I been checking alot on the official websites of 3D ready screens and glasses, but none of em wanna say anything about what actually matters. 120HZ is only one part of the equation, still have responce time (ms) and brightness (cd/m2) left.

Also see these youtube vids of people testing screens for ghosting and afterimage, but they are standing still focusing on something thats already barly noticeable, Im definetly not going to stand still in a game and watch for slight ghosting and after images, if I turn my screen constantly I wont even have time to notice it all. So is alot of the ghosting/afterimage just exagerating or ?

I really wanna get a 3D kit but currently I just cant make up my mind which screen I should buy, think for my country 3D hd TV isnt an option.

I have the Alienware monitor and it kicks some serious BOOTY! I would recommend it to anyone.

(if you want no ghosting at all go dlp)
figured I'd throw that in there.
Also I don't know anything about the other monitor your talking about. The orange stand sure does make it look pretty. /sorcerer.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':sorcerer:' />

That helped some.

Just wondering if any1 might have tested a GH245HQ in a stand somewhere.

Anyone compared these screens to the 2233rz? Wondering if its worth an upgrade as im sitting here with quite noticeable ghosting. But im a piss poor student so have to bleed for anything new.

I have the Alienware. From what I have read the screens are about the same between the Alienware and the GH245HQ. However, I think that the Alienware has a sleeker design and has more option to adjust the picture. It is also more expensive. I cannot recommend the Alienware monitor enough. It is truly amazing with 3D. But, to be honest I would probably say the same thing about the GH245HQ if i had it. My decision came down to a trip to Best Buy. I looked at Acer screens compared to Dell screens and the difference in picture quality was obvious to me so I decided to go Dell. Either way 3D vision is amazing and you can't go wrong either way.

There is definetly less ghosting on the alienware compared to the 2233rz. I decided to go with the alienware for several reasons. First the 100 dollar difference was 50 dollars less since i used a 10% discount coupon. Second, the alienware has a height adjustable stand and a usb hub. Third, dell has a reputation for quality monitors more so than acer IMHO. Fourth, i learnt from the samsung that a brighter 3D is essential to a better experience and the alienware is the brightest of them all. But of course at the end its your choice.

Just got the Acer GD235HQ last night.
Stayed up late enjoying my favorite games in fantastic 3D.
It was like I was experiencing these well played games for the first time! I am used to playing at 2550x1600 on Dell 2008 lcd which has outstanding brightness and color reproduction. While the brightness and color reproduction of the Acer is not as good as the 30" Dell (an $1800 monitor) I find brightness of the Acer during stereoscopic play to be very good to excellent and color reproduction to be good. I have not had a chance to calibrate the acer yet and expect color reproducttion will improve at the expense of some brightness once calibrated.

Based on my initial impressions I would highly recommend the Acer monitor and the 3D vision technology. A brief runthrough of a few games (BatmanAA, CODMW2, Mirrors Edge) last evening found almost flawless stereoscopic effects and performance, providing an amazing immersive experience!
Hopefullyu if 3D vision works this well with all games I will probably have little use for the Dell 30" monitor in the forseeable future.

Be aware that you need pretty powerful graphics card(s) to run 1920x1080 @ 120Hz for 3D vision (about the same as 2560x1600 @ 60Hz). My GTX285s in SLI work very well to generally keep framerates in high 50's to 60 with little stutter.

Bring on those Fermis!
