Alienware OptX AW2310 , 8800M GTS , Playstation 3
I have a Alienware OptXTM AW2310 3D. Overall, I think the monitor is excellent. Except I have noticed some weird things about it. I would have posted this in an "Alienware" forum but I can't find any, and the phone support I usually get from Dell is absolutely useless and it takes about 1 hour for them to barely answer a question or research a generic answer that leads to nothing.

1) I currently have my monitor plugged into my laptop via HDMI into a 8800M GTS card. I noticed if a screen saver goes on (Mystify windows 7 screensaver) the screen starts to flicker and change from different shades of black/ gray. It is not that noticeable, however it does not seem normal as I have never seen this happen in other monitors. Can this lead to a problem and is there a way to make it stop?

2) I have also been using the monitor with my PS3 via HDMI. I noticed while playing Dante's Inferno , when leaving a pause screen, the screen is still slightly dark for about 2-3 seconds then it brightens back to normal. As this is not a major problem I would like to know if there is a way to stop it? It is almost like this monitor has some auto light sensing thing built in.

3) Also the top of the monitor has a little bit of back light bleeding. Any tips or tricks to get rid of it would be appreciated.

thanks

1) No clue why its doing this an if it is bad or not I dont know.

2) This is normal if you notice any really dark scene that stays on screen for a long period of time will do this. I believe this is the backlight adjusting dynamically or osmething of that nature. Mine does it too and I have seen other monitors do it aswell. I believe you can make it stop doing this by turning off overdrive thogh the monitors menu go to display settings and take the response time off overdrive. Personally I leave it on.

3) A little bleed is normal on TN panels. Don't know if yours is overly bad or not. Mine has some too although the amount mine has is maybe just 1/3" on the top and on the bottom and only visible on truely black backgrounds. Nothing you can do about it.
