[CLOSED] Website:3DSurroundGaming.com - Fund Raiser to maintain server hosting.
1 / 2
Hello community,
Normally, I wouldn't make a topic like this and as you know, I never made one before.
I have the website up and running since 22.05.2013 (http://3dsurroundgaming.com/Updates.html). That is more around 4 years now, time in which I paid all the maintenance costs:)
The site is hosted by BlueHost and I have been very pleased with their services over the years! However, one thing I noticed, is that, the maintenance costs get higher every year! (When I originally made it, they had an offer going and I got it pretty cheap).
For the record, for the next 12 months in order to maintain the website it costs:
- $15,99 (USD) for the domain (name: 3dsurroundgaming.com)
- $187.06 (USD) for the actual server to host the files.
For those of you who don't know my website, it provides:
- Most of the fixes I made for DirectX games including:
[.]Dark Souls III[/.]
[.]Star Wars Battlefront (2015)[/.]
[.]The Technomancer[/.]
[.]Titanfall 2[/.]
[.]Battlefield 1[/.]
[.]Witcher 3 latest version (I think a copy exists on HelixMod as well so this one is safe)[/.]
- All of my 3D Vision OpenGL fixes: http://3dsurroundgaming.com/OpenGL3DVisionGames.html
- A collection of 3D Vision Surround Vidoes that I recorded over the years(hopefully more will come ^_^):
http://3dsurroundgaming.com/GameList.html
- A lot of fixes for Surround using WideScreen Fixer or Flawless WideScreen: http://3dsurroundgaming.com/WSF.html
- My 3D Vision OpenGL wrapper: http://3dsurroundgaming.com/OGL3DVision.html
- Various other bits and bobs of information and guides.
I know a lot of you donated me over the years and I really appreciate it! Most of the money from donations go into maintaining this website, buying new games, etc. Every penny is used into gaming activities so don't you worry there;)
I am asking, if anyone from the community is willing to help maintain the site! I made the website to share it with the community! It gives zero revenue back as is oriented to open-source software which anyone can take/use how they see fit! Since I've spent over the years a huge amount of time and effort into everything that goes in that website( OpenGL wrapper, OpenGL fixes, DirectX fixes, Videos, etc.) I would have to see it go down and I hope you feel the same way!
So, please, if anyone is interested in helping me renewing it for the next year, please do so!
You don't have any obligations towards this or me as everything I released so far is free and open-source! I am asking, only if you are interested and if you are willing to help!
My donation (PayPal) is in my signature, if anyone is willing to help!
(If not, I'm going to see and evaluate if it is a "good business" case to maintain it from my own finances for the whole community, like before ^_^)
Hope everyone understands and don't takes this the wrong way in any shape or form!
Thank you in advance,
Helifax

If you are interested in a different hoster I can recomment https://www.inetsolutions.de/
Your hoster seems to be very expensive....
OK the service is descriped in german but if you tell me what exactely you need i can ask. This is the company of my brother, so I think i can negotiate a special offer for you.
Tell me your exact requirements and i will ask for the price if you are willing to change your hoster.
//EDIT 1:
Hosting is 15,45 $ a year for .com domain. This price is not negotiable but the rest is dependend on your requirements and of cause you can get a special friend price ^^

Sent; wish I could give more.
The domain name for $15,99 is reasonable, however the hosting price is not. It might be a good idea to host all files on Dropbox/google drive so you only have to pay minimum you can get away with?
