it's not that important, the timings your monitor has are likely already pretty good enough

I have strong ghosting and if I can change that, it would be the best thing in gaming this year for me.

Since that is a lightboost display it would be better to replace the strobe controller electronics inside of it with one that you can tweak the phase/duty on (or, if youre opening it up, just detach the IR controller pcb and solder the connector to a normal USB cable and use it with computer directly)

Thank you for your expert advice. I will try one of those options and let you know here if it works.

Have you tried lowering brightness and contrast? Have you tried unplugging the vg278h from the wall. Do so for at least a minute, this will reset the display.

I have tried lowering brightness and contrast, but without the wanted improvement. I only play racing simulations in 3D. I have bigger problems only with bright skys. The trees on the sky have a terrible ghosting which sometimes distracts even if you try to concentrate on the track. I am not sure if every screen has this ghosting. I will do some picture through the nvidia glasses.

I dont have tryed that tool because i dont realy understand whats the benefit of using it. I have a build in IR in my screen. Any profit for me using this tool? And if yes, which ? I have 120 HZ max.

One thought here for people with a good test screen- Can you tweak the timings such that it works decently on a VA or possible an IPS monitor? Masterotaku has done extensive testing and we know that for normal 3D Vision you must have 1ms GtG transition times as a maximum for normal hardware. He also has determined that the glasses will run at 80Hz, 40Hz per eye. My thought was that if the glasses can run that slow, that gets you out of the very tight timings at 120Hz, and that maybe something like a VA monitor might be viable. Anybody have a monitor like this and can experiment with the timings?

I PM'd a few users that had been trying VA panels, none replied or updated their threads.

Really wish there was a way to fine tune the sync between my monitor (Samsung SA950) and its glasses. The right lens have almost 0 crosstalk while the left lens has a little bit. (just enough to break immersion) But I assume Samsung did this on purpose so that 1 lens could be perfect. I have three different versions of the glasses that I got while the 3D hype was at its peak and one particular iteration, almost, has no ghosting. The transmitter is also build in like Losti's. I would assume if the sync could be slightly shifted that the ghosting would be balanced and almost become non existent. But I understand this is only for the official pyramid..

There was a thread on this display, but Nvidia deleted 90% of the posts. Shortly thereafter, they removed Generic CRT from the drivers because of this display. It seemed Nvidia was very upset that they opted not to get it 3D Vision certified, but instead licensed TriDef. That's also when they combined the 3D Vision driver into the main driver. But I remember that everyone said the extinction was fantastic on it, unless you did not turn off something or other. It was something motion related, perhaps Pure Motion? Accelerated Motion? Overdrive? After they removed Generic CRT, Francomg and his friend made a special EDID to make it work with 3D Vision, by splicing two EDIDs together. Edit: setting "response time" to "normal" ghosting can be reduced significantly

Thanks D-Man. I recall you mentioned this before. Would really like to get my hands on this! No one spoke about it over on 3d vision blog so all those details are lost. Im actually too scared to play with Toasty's app to change the edid myself. You have a good memory. I've played around with the response time and it does help a bit. But I think ghosting would be completely eliminated if the timings could be fiddled with. I'm "forced" to use this monitor again since my brother and his brother in law moved into my guest room for contract work in the area. Have to live with ghosting again now that I cant use my projector. nVidia surely pissed all over this monitor out of revenge. It is still a great unpopular 3d vision monitor despite the bugs.

Try PMing him, he hasn't posted in several years, but it is worth a shot. He may have posted it on 3D Vision Blog or Meant to be Seen. It was on here, but as I said Nvidia deleted a huge portion of that thread. He had PM'd me a link to a hosted file service, but it is dead now. https://forums.geforce.com/member/1738699/ Edit: Hmm, I should have checked, I still have a copy, I had tried using it with my S23A700D, but for some reason, it would not work. Anyhow, he swore by this for his 950

Thanks again. It works but the old shutdown and delay problems are still there. Alt+tabbing have a long delay and also when you enter/exit games. With the projector everything is instant. Was hoping this would have eliminated these problems. Everytime you exit 3d mode the monitor switches off. Somewhere in the edid its confusing the 3d mode and the power terminals. Instead if switching 3d off it switches the monitor off. But its something I've learned to live with. Its better than nothing at all. Edid: Im still on 399.07 driver. When I'll attempt Losti's workaround for the latest drivers I will report back. Think it requires a clean driver installation.
