These recent drivers are really weird. It seems like in general that they are not working well for anybody, but occasionally I get good results, and cannot tell why.
For example, running 353.06 and playing Mordor. Normally the Sauron's Army screen is missing all text as described above. For whatever reason, when I tried this one yesterday, I got the text in the screen, and all seemed fine. Ran for an 1.5 hours that way.
Then while I was playing the game, that text stopped working. No changes to settings, no alt-tab, no nothing. Since then, it won't go back to showing the text. Like it's permanently stuck off now. I can't explain it.

Fix seems to be a combination of Vsync forced settings and setting display to only run in 3d mode "only while 3d programs run"

Try the latest hot-fix driver of 353.38. It is specifically to fix the TDR crashes in Chrome.

Just a note for future googlers- if you can't find your cursor in the 3D Setup Wizard, the reason is "mouse trails". If you enable "mouse trails" the cursor is missing, and makes it extremely difficult to get through the wizard. Not driver related, but looked like it.

That is a bug in latest drivers in 3D Vision. All versions from 350.12 have this... (Not sure about 350.12). 347.88 is the one that I am using and works perfect.
Happens only on single GPU. SLI/Surround is unaffected...
Games I tried and have this issue:
- Alien Isolation
- Lords of the Fallen
- Dragon Age Inquisition
- GTAV
Happens only in cinematics though...

My recommendation would be to wait. Current drivers are really quite bad, and being locked into them is even worse.
As demonstrated by that awesome find by RageDemon- the reports of driver gimping for older hardware are 100% false, so your hardware is as good as it has always been.
I'm worried that with the advent of Win10 that NVidia is going to lose focus even further, and think waiting a month or two for things to clarify would be in order.

Well... Now I'm not sure what to think about the drivers. I went back to an older driver to try Mordor, and the Sauron text was broken there as well. Came back up to 350.12, and text was still broken here. Until after I played for 1.5 hours, then suddenly it started working and has continued to work. Tried all sorts of experiments, alt-tab, ctrl-t, changing angle of view, moving around on map, reload game. Still continues to work. It never worked previously.

I think this self fixing or breaking issues connected to some nvidia or windows cache. Because whenever I play Witcher 3 for the first time after restarting my PC too many S3D breaking and crashes when loading a save or fast traveling.
But after some web surfing with Firefox, Chrome or IE, viewing some folder, etc. way less breaking 3D, crashing occured.
I know this sound stupid, but it's what it is. I'm on Win 7 and this behaviour only happened with Witcher 3 and now I'm kinda sure, because happened multiple times.
GTX 980, 353.06 with 3DV profile fix. No active third party programs or browsers during gameplay.
