HDR + 3D = impossible?

I have an LG E6 and I've been playing Shadow of the Tomb Raider in HDR + 3D using the SBS mode, in 4K and half refresh set to limit it to 30fps. I have a Titan Xp and a 4790K and it runs just about OK. IMHO the HDR looks better balanced with the 3D on. I was struggling to find a nice compromise with the two brightness sliders in 2D HDR, but somehow using the 3D mode makes it work for me. I think I'll likely push through the game now this way - though it's only one to play at night when the room is properly dark. Getting the E6 set up correctly is not always easy. I'm using the latest .35 firmware and Game HDR mode at default settings, and without the PC icon set (which enables YUV 4:4:4 but also alters the picture setup).
