Questions regarding 3d viosn and a 3D lab setup Will our specification be compatibile?
Dear forum members,

First, to introduce myself. I am working at the Department of Telecommunications of the AGH University of Science and Technology. Me and my research team have a 10+ year experience in multimedia research and for few past years are dealing with Quality of Experience user tests.

Now we are starting to create a lab for 3D user tests. Among other equipment we foresee to acquire 3D vision sets.

Now, the question. We are planning to buy the following setup:
- A 3D vision set
- A computer equipped with two Gainward GeForce® GTX295 1792MB cards in SLI mode http://www.gainward.com/main/vgapro.php?id=104
- Acer GD245HQ monitor http://www.tinyurl.pl?m78IU0ib

1) Will the monitor be able to display a 1080 3D image after connecting to the card? What are the connector requirements for that?
2) What are the requirements for a TV set and beamer regarding the refresh rates, resolutions and connectors to be able to display 3D image in 1080? Is there anything capable on the market? What would you recommend.
3) Do you have any suggestions on what we should change in the set up?
4) Do you know whether it is possible to buy Nvidia 3D glasses alone without buying the whole 3Dvision set?

Thank you for your answers!

1) Yes you can get 1080 3D image with Acer GD245HQ? it only accepts 3D signals from Dual link DVI connector
2) Only AlienWare and Acer supports 1080 3D image resolution i don't know about AlienWare monitor but Acer accepts 3D only from Dual Link, i also have Acer H5360 projection system that accepts 120 HZ signal from VGA and HDMI, but the highest resolution is 720p for 3D.
3) If you want to do triple screen (for example with 3 Acer projectors) exprience with 3D Vision in the future i recommend you to switch Graphics Card to GeForce 480 Fermi technology. The cards will be available end of March.
4) You can buy Nvidia 3D glasses alone

Thank you for your answer!
It is very valuable for us, as I was convinced, that HDMI would be rather used for transmitting 1080 3D. From what I heard from Sony retailer PS3 slim is supposed to be able to play 3D on a new line of Sony Bravia's through HDMI 1.4, that's why i thought that this Acer monitor will utilize 3D through HDMI. Thanks!
