Is 3D Vision Dead?
Its all preference, i like projectors much more than the tiny OLED's. Granted, i only had 55" but i doubt 65" would have changed anything. It feels too tiny after projector and its almost impossible to get crosstalk free image. As to VR, I would bet majority of ppl would be more impressed with VR compared to 3d vision. That doesnt make them ignorant. You cant match immersion VR provides, even if it has poor image quality and other limitations right now. Its not garbage, and its only going to get better from now on.
Try pulling your 3DTV closer to you. I game on a 46" 3DTV and since its placed right on my desk, its got a horizontal FOV roughly that of the Rift creating a massive window to the game world. I never once noticed crosstalk on my Samsung ES7500, it was there, but not enough to bother me while immersed in the game. Although I did come from a crosstalk heavy Sony NX711 3DTV. VR vs 3D display: I would really like VR owners to experience a good 3DTV display. Besides the glasses, its a very clean setup. I just replaced my 30" monitor with a 46" 3DTV and my computer desk remains about the same, yet when I game, the "monitor" instead becomes this massive window. And I totally disagree that VR in its current state is more immersive than a good 3DTV display, not when you consider we have gotten used to moving/looking around the world without thinking about our fingers pressing buttons. To "prefer" something, presumably you mean after they have tried both. What percent of VR owners have tried a wide FOV 3D setup with minimal crosstalk or input lag? More than .00025%? Have any of them tried a checkerboard 3DTV, which looks basically like 1080p? I think there is room for both, with 3D used in games with no VR support or when your physically tired or for those who get motion sickness easily, etc, etc.

46" Samsung ES7500 3DTV (checkerboard, high FOV as desktop monitor, highly recommend!) - Metro 2033 3D PNG screens - Metro LL filter realism mod - Flugan's Deus Ex:HR Depth changers - Nvidia tech support online form - Nvidia support: 1-800-797-6530

However i still prefer to play on my projector. My 55" OLED was almost at arms length, i couldnt game like many do with a couch 3 meters (10ft) from the tv. My current PJ screen is 108" and i sit around 2.6-2.8m(9ft) from it. My problem with the tv's are that they feel so tiny. I dont get a good sense of scale(compared to projectors), I tried to compensate a little by having lower convergence than usual and "trick" myself to feel the scale but it didnt really work. While i like to talk positive about VR, i dont actually use it that much. Firstly, the content is much better on a screen(3d or 2d), and turns out that im a lazy fu**er who likes to to kick back on his couch and play on a screen rather than in vr. I find projector to be my sweetspot in terms of resolution, scale, immersion, ease of use and content. Racing games are the only games i refuse to play on a screen anymore, vr fits too well with them.

Is 3D Vision dead? No Nvidia still support it in the drivers and the community still fix games. ----- As someone who uses CV1 and 3DVision, I think both systems are flippin awesome. And I think both systems trounce each other, depending on the genre e.g. 3D Vision trounces VR when playing stategy games (Civ5, CK2 etc.) and RTSs. 3D Vision is a bit better than VR for 3rd person games, though there aren't many decent examples in VR yet. VR is a bit better than 3DV for 1st person. (Ask me a couple of months ago and I would have disagreed with myself but Mage's Tale and Robo Recall have well and truly changed my mind here.) VR trounces 3DV when playing simulators/cockpit/driver-seat games (Elite Dangerous, Assetto Corsa, Rally, flight and combat flight sims etc)

How does playing Euro Truck Simulator 2 in VR compare to nvidia 3d ? I've not got vr yet but its pretty awesome in 3d (when I can get a decent frame rate !)

Anyone know if newer monitors have gotten better at minimising it? I used to have the VG278H, it was mostly fine and delivered a really good 3D image despite it's 1080p and crappy colour limitations, but the crosstalk/ghosting was quite noticable. It was especially bad when there was an extreme contrast of colour, for example snow against dark black rocks. I don't know if it was specific to the unit I had, but it was even worse towards the bottom half of the screen, I have no idea why. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v4KIQAyIEhU I would think that given monitors are 144Hz and upwards these days, they are faster and the crosstalk is even better? 3DTV's aren't really an option for my setup unfortunately, as I can only have one display and need low input delay for games like CSGO.

It doesn't matter if monitor is working at 200Hz, 3DV only works at 120-100Hz officially. Lower crosstalk depends on the manufacturer's capability and the platform they used. AFAIK, lowest crosstalk for 3DV in all platforms is on DLP projectors or double projector setups, for monitors currently Asus PG278QR has the lowest and for TVs LG 4K OLED's has the lowest (LEDs are better than previous years but still behind the OLEDs).

LG OLED 4K are not the greatest for 3D... First of all, I don't like the passive 3D, filters are too restrictive, in 1080p TV it was not good, first because of the interlaced lignes which were too visible, then because the filters wasn't good enough. On 4K TV, the lignes are not visible anymore (at least at 2 meters), but the filters are still too cheap or not placed correctly. I would say that on the technology side, yes, it is dead. (There have been no new 3D Vision monitors since 2015, none of the new Asus ROG Swift's have it, neither does Acer's Predator line etc.) But, there is still a devoted following that sadly will probably not grow because the technology side isn't continuing to support it. I will in all likelihood not know what any other monitor looks like in terms of color fidelity etc. as I intend to replace my Asus ROG Swift PG278Q with another or have it repaired if / when it goes or if / when it is accidentally damaged. I actually love this monitor, 1440p, G-Sync, 144 Hz, low latency, decent colors and image (10 Bit TN) anyways.

I have found it extremely difficult to find a comprehensive list of Nvidia 3D-ready monitors. The nvidia webpage listing 3D monitors is dead. When I contacted Nvidia support, they told me that 3D vision 2 is a discontinued product. they won't be updating those pages.
