Okay so I really need help. I've troubleshooted as much as possible and have no luck.
I have this display.
Alienware OptX AW2310
- LCD Monitor
- 23 '' - 1920x1080
- 3D Vision Surround-Ready, 120Hz
It's been connected to HDMI and DVI to no avail. HDMI cable and DVI came with monitor. Tried switching them out. Nothing.
My graphics card is the Nvidia GeForce 560 TI
A year and a half ago, I had no problem using my Nvidia 3D with this display. Now my monitor isn't even detected as a 3D display. I've tried everything I could think of from switching wires, to reinstalling drivers....I'm at a loss.
If anyone has a solution please help me :( I have two emitters I've used and both react the same way; they work with the computer and so do the glasses seemingly, but the problem is my display is not detecting as 3D ready. Any help greatly appreciated.
Thanks so much ;n;

First off, that monitor DOES NOT support 3D via a HDMI connection. So yah..., no idea why you are trying that.
Second, if the DVI cable that you are using is not a 300MHz capable Dual Link cable it will not work.
Third, I'm going to assume that you are using Windows Vista and that's the reason it will not work.
Since, support for Vista has been dropped.
Take a look at this, please.
http://www.nvidia.com/object/3d-vision-displays.html
First off, Go to 3D Displays. Mine is the 5th one. Yes it DOES support it because it has in the past. Please read the whole post where I said I did this a year and a half ago
Second off, I've tried both the DVI cable and the HDMI cable and they were both 3D ready and came with this monitor. I assumed they were broken so I even bought new ones. No dice.
Also Third, no, I'm running Windows 10. Sorry I didn't clarify sooner.
Also Fourth who the heck even still uses Vista? That no joke, blows my mind.

Vista was simply brought up because YOU failed to mention your OS and being that you FAILED to mention your OS, it wasn't something that I could rule out as the cause of your problem. This forum is used by people World Wide, some of which still use Vista. So no....it wasn't a joke!
Yah, and as I stated before...your monitor DOES NOT support 3D Vision via a HDMI connection. So like I said before, why are you trying HDMI when it's just self-defeating?
So do yourself a favor and stop trying HDMI.
READ your owner's manual, 3D Vision on that display requires a "Dual Link DVI" cable that is capable of a 300MHz bandwidth.
So provided that you are using a correct Dual Link DVI cable, my assumption would be that the drivers did not install properly. I'd suggest that you reinstall the drivers using DDU.

It came with the monitor so it was ONE of the things I tried. Wow, I wish I had time to post in ALL caps in CERTAIN parts of my post to make me sound like I'm DEMEANING you. Jeez. Glad I don't linger on the net long enough to give a shit.
In any case, thanks for not helping and just trying to troll. Assuming you're a man you're real bad with ladies :\ And if you're all "uh uh no I'm not (insert bitchfit)" I'd have to laugh and point out I am a lady, and I'd have to review and say you're def not that great with the ladies.
Although I did learn something today--people still use Vista. That's scary as fuck to me especially since my windows 10 upgrade was free; then again I believe it might've only been free to win 7 and 8 users. 8 was on my laptop and 7 was on the desktop so that's my best guess.
And honestly I would consider using that link you gave me, but seeing as how you were barking harder than your bite I'm not entirely trustworthy of any advice you have to offer at this point. So seriously, thanks anyways but I'm good. I'll keep troubleshooting with my DVI cable and consider looking into a newer purchase to make sure. That's about all I'm gonna take away from this.
LOL god forbid I don't mention my OS. Please don't throw me into internet jail LMAO.
Edit: Oh and REAL quick I will at least confirm I did (obviously) misreading your post in one part initially cause I'm not a total jackass. But I won't apologize for it because it wouldn't make me feel any better or worse to do so.

Whatever Nurrd, should have just let you keep trying that HDMI cable instead of trying to help.
Perhaps you should try using a VGA cable just so you can bitch more when I tell you it will not work either.
EDIT: BTW you can read all about DDU at...

LOL - I did read the post - but missed that Little detail - go in Peace :D
When you go into the NVidia Control Panel in Change Resolution, does the monitor show up with the correct name?
If it's not recognized properly there, the 3D Vision software will lock it out. Seems like a bad EDID is a possibility here since you've done other troubleshooting already.
Also, I didn't see mention of you reinstalling the driver. Use DDU to clean out the old driver completely, do a clean install. The drivers tend to be tweaky.

Oh and Lady, by the way we are all EQUAL (remember that you fight for equality??) so please stop with the damn drama:) Read up, document yourself and THEN come and speak here again with that tone....

I could post pictures of Butterflies and Kittens, if that would give you the warm fuzzy feeling that you'd like to get from my posts.
But that really wouldn't get the point across to the OP, that they will never get 3D Vision working on that monitor using a HDMI cable.
It seems everyone has gotten off on the wrong foot, perhaps we could all dial it back a little and try to help out with this problem? I think she probably understands that HDMI isn't going to work now, so bo3b's suggestion is probably the best thing to try next. Give that a try and let us know how that goes.
Also, are you 100% certain you're using the DVI cable that came with the monitor? Any old DVI cable won't necessarily work, it does need to be dual-link DVI.
