Hi guys, just a question about activating 3DTV play. My understanding is that 3DTV Play is free for 3D Vision owners, they just need to plug in the usb IR emitter to activate it. What if you have a monitor with the emitter built in? I have an Acer HN274H monitor that was bundled with 3D Vision, and I would like to activate 3DTV Play for use with my 3D HDTV. Is it possible for me to activate 3DTV Play without having to purchase the license from NVidia? Thanks!

?? Why in the world would you want to downgrade your 3D Vision to 3DTV Play?

I don't see it as downgrading, I see it as an additional option. My GTX 470 isnt going to play new games 1080p120 anyway, so being limited to 720p isn't a huge deal. I really would just like the opportunity to play on my 55" screen with less crosstalk.

You're obviously a noobie. :)
This isn't a 1080P/120 issue, this is a image quality issue. 3DTV Play does not offer higher framerates than 3DV, it only forces you to game in ugly 720P frame packing instead of native resolution, this is why everybody buys samsung HDTVs so they aren't doomed to 3DTV Play.
Your decision is based on your HDTV, not on your vid card, so if you have a samsung or LG TV, let us know so that we can tell you how to 3D game in native resolution at full framerate.

*psst, hey Arcsine, the 11 in Roller11 stands for years old. Just a friendly heads up*
For now, until Nvidia supports side-by-side, which is a better looking mode than 720p, i'd go with Tridef instead of Nvidia, which supports side-by-side (and has everything Nvidia supports as well).

Hi
As an owner of 3D Vision, yes you get 3DTV Play for free. The mechanism for owners with USB emitters is fairly straightforwad in that you plug in the IR emitter and that enables it for free when we detect an HDMI 1.4 TV.
However with a built in emitter we need to make it better. As it stands right now, if your monitor is plugged in, that will enable 3DTV Play. So you would need to have your monitor plugged in when connected to the 3D TV.

Sorry, but this doesn't work.
I have an ACER 3D screen with Nvidia 3D Vision glasses (with IR emitter built in) and I can't activate my 3DTV Play...even with my computer screen plugged, turn on, or whatever... :(

Remember to remove 3DTV play activator(trial software you downloaded). I take you all ready gaming with 3DTV play so you have supported hardware. So 3DTV play activator is not needed and should NOT be installed because 3DTV play is build in driver and you can use it when emitter/Acer Monitor is plugged in.
So if you have emitter and supported TV/Projector do NOT install 3DTVPlay trial(no need to). It works but when trial is ended it will stop working even if you have emitter plugged in if there is no changes done to this lately.
I'm not sure how it works with build in emitters though, it should as long you have your monitor plugged in...

My TV : Samsung UE50ES6100
And the signal passes through a Pioneer VSX-422.
If I remove the 3DTV Play Activator, games are automatically launch in "blue/red 3D" because it doesn't recognize the 3D TV.
Nvidia 3D configuration window tells me 'to enjoy 3DTV Play click here' (or something like that) and I am redirected to the 3D TV Play Activator with trial on the Nvidia web site.

After removing, the default option in the Nvidia 3D configuration window is 'HDMI Blu Ray 3D'.
But this is not wirking with games.
And on the right side, a little message told me : 'for new sensation[...] get 3DTV Play'.

You have it working with activator? or you have trial left but never had it working? Because neither your receiver or TV are not in the supported devices list.

"You have it working with activator?"
Yes. Perfectly.
"Because neither your receiver or TV are not in the supported devices list."
Maybe but they are both 3D compatible.
Nvidia drivers recognize perfectly the 3D compatibility.
But...the 3D TV Play is 'blocked' if I don't use the trial installation :(
