Until humans start devolving into cyclopses, it would appear that AMD is giving up rather than innovating.

Have to say I agree with them. I think people that come here are very niche, 3D gaming is not at all popular. While 3D is fantastic, its incredibly primitive when you consider its 1080p for monitors and 720p for TV's and projectors, at a time when 4K is rapidly gaining momentum it looks rather bleak. I think within the coming months support for 3D (outside of community fixes) is going to drop to zero, and with the influx of games that wont have totally crap graphics because of the new consoles, I'm not so sure if the community is going to be able to fix alot of them.

AMD are only saying that because they failed to make any sizeable impact on 3D gaming, but it still means its one more nail in the coffin as all the AMD fanboys will jump on the anti3D bandwagon again, but the amount of bullshit in that article is saddening. I don't have a problem running 3D in 1080, and to be honest the FPS impact is high enough at that resolution, let alone even thinking about 4k 3D. I doubt dev support will drop to zero in the coming months, specially when Oculus Rift is still being eagerly awaited, but I don't think it will improve greatly either. If we can get faster DX11 wrapper fixes out of the door maybe there is hope, and if NVidia's next project with near-field or whatever its called produces something in the retail market we might see them supporting more 3D Vision titles. I'm not gonna hold my breath though...

3D is the only thing keeping me interested in gaming these days. If 3D goes, my 25-year gaming "career" is finished. At least I still have a massive backlog of games that I'm eager to play through in 3D glory.

Well dont you worry, havent you heard all the hype about Oculus Rift, never have a thing in the history of the Pc had this much impact before it's released. This thing is a smashing sucess and it will only grow so VR 3d is the future no doubt about it :)

AMD never invested any money into it and since they don't plan to invest any money in it they say it. Its pretty hard to say that when rift/ps4[hmd]/maybe more are going to be solely for stereoscopic. Its kind of ignorant to say that its a thing of the past during its biggest push. Like maybe it wont work out but to say it's dead just sounds silly.

I agree that 3D vision and tridef are old tech and should be gone. Future is behind virtual reality devices like Oculus Rift. We will still play in full 3D, but with much more immersion then now

I refused to buy AMD cards the last couple cycles simply because of their awful vision for 3D gaming. Surprised they even promoted it as an option, but I guess they were more interested in filling checkboxes (even if informed buyers knew it was a farce). And yeah, I'd have a hard time going back. Mono 3D just looks like trash. It's like I'm watching a streaming video of something. Thankfully Rift is turning people on to the joys of 3D gaming. It's not even that games are so much more immersive, it fundamentally helps you drive better in sim racing games. And for something like Pinball FX, come on. It mine as well be a completely different game. One is boring garbage in 2D, and the other is absolutely amazing.
