Quadro FX 5800 polarized stereoscopy I need to use it with 2 projectors using polarized filters
  1 / 2
Hy everyone.
I need help. I have got a Quadro FX 5800 card and I need to use it for 3D presentation using 2 projectors with polarized filters, silver screen and polarized glasses (passive glasses, not shutter glasses).
I have got an old card too. That is a Quadro FX3400 which works only with XP. With the 3400 my problem is that I can't use new drivers, only the first release is working.
The new one, the FX 5800 is not working at all. I mean, it is looking for the glasses and the IR emitter and that's it. It either works with the shutter glasses or switches back to anaglyph mode which is not good for me. Of course it is working in clone mode but there is no depth or any immersive effect during a full screen 3D application.
My question is what do I need to make it work with polarized technology?
Any advice or idea is welcome.

Thank you in advance.

As far as I know nVidia no longer support Side By Side Output.

Your best bet is to use the iz3D Drivers which does support Side By Side Output.

Thanks a lot. I will try it out. But still, it is a bit sad that I can't use such an expensive card for this purpose with full support. But I hope it works with a DepthQ projector equiped with a polarisation modulator. If not then I am screwed.
Anyway thanks again.

I don't have a 3D TV, I have got an LCD monitor, which is a Samsung LD220 120 Hz monitor. And this card does not support DX11, only DX10. But anyway I think you can use it with your 3D TV. And I have tried it with the latest driver too starting with the oldest one. So go ahead and post here how it worked out.

Are you sure that Samsung LD220 is a 120HZ monitor? I think it is a normal 60HZ monitor. Is it the same monitor as on the following link?

I am using a setup with dual projectors for Passive polarized stereoscopy using Quadro 5600 card. You need to setup the projectors such that their projected images align with each other. Make sure to use silver screen, it is a must to preserve the polarization.

Quadro cards support quad buffered opengl stereo so if you setup the projectors in clone mode and select stereo mode as "nview Clone mode" in base profile of nvidia control panel (Under Manage 3D settings). You don't need a driver for this to work. Now if you program your application to use quad buffered stereo them it will work fine. You can use polarized glasses to view the stereo output. I have tried it myself and it works fine.

In case you want to use it for 3D videos then you can use Stereoscopic Player. This player supports quad buffered stereo.

For directx based games you need iZ3D Dual Output Driver. In this case set your projectors in Dualview in nvidia control panel (under Setup Multiple displays). You don't need to change anything in base profile (under Manage 3D settings) because that is used only for quad buffered OpenGL output.

I hope that helps. Let me know in case you need any other information.
