I bought last week a new Samsung monitor T27A950 and the manufacturer says it has 120hz.
the problem is that I cannot change in the NVIDIA properties the refresh rate to - 120hz, it show only 60hz. when I run the 3d wizard it halt and show an error message: "Error in Stereo Driver, NvAPI_Stereo_IsActivated() returned 0 after stereo was enabled by default with Settings->setDefaultStartupMode(true)."
what to do and what is the difference between - "real 120hz" and "120hz"??
in the Nvidia site it says that the minimum requirements are a 120hz monitor.
i'm using a new Nvidia 580GTX Graphic card up-to-date driver and win7 64 Bit system
Please help...i'm totally frustrated
thanks

The real answer here is that Samsung wanted to implement their own 3d solution with Tri Def, so no 3d Vision. Not really Nvidia's fault, Samsung is just trying to get a bigger piece of the pie.

I am having the same problem with my new Vizio M3D421SR. I found the nvidia driver update for Vizio M3D420SR and installed that, but still getting the same crash/error. Vizio claims the M3D421SR and M3D420SR are the same exact television...after they told me M3D421SR does not exist - I had to email them pictures of my TV to prove its model number.
Anyways, I am running GeForce GTX 570 with the latest driver update 285.62. I have tried a fresh install and still getting the error.
"Error in Stereo Driver, NvAPI_Stero_IsActivated() returned 0 after stero was enabled by default with Settings->setDefaultStartupMode(true)."

If that doesnt work see if you can find an edid of a tv matching yours. Like if you have a full hd lcd tv. Or 120hz dvi-d monitor. Just do a search for edid.

Hi! We seem to be having the exact same issue. I just got the TV and was all excited to get some 3D movies in...
Have you figured out a work around?

Nice try eqzitara... but neither of those worked for me.
I also bought what I thought was the M3D420SR specifically because I checked and it said it is supported.
I'm pretty sure it too is actually a M3D421SR even though Walmart sold it as a M3D420SR.. I'm not sure there is the latter model. I haven't heard of anyone with a M3d420SR only the M3D421SR. Either way, we can guess they are both very similar and should definitely be supported; especially when it costs $40 to buy the 3DTV Play software even though they advertised my GTX 460 as being 3D ready.
Apparently Nvidia lied and it is not. As we both well know from our stereo driver errors.
I'm beginning to remember why I was an ATI customer for the past decade, but I just couldn't pass the price on the card. Next time I'm thinking I will because of how frustrated this has made me haha..

Hi
I think you are confused. We list the VIZIO as a supported 3DTV Play product, which is SW and does not use 3D Vision glasses.
If your TV isn't working with 3DTV Play, please check my sigature for a way to capture the EDID and send it to us. It will then be supported.

The EDID for the two models may be slightly off, resulting in your version (421SR) being unsupported even though the 420SR is. This is more of a problem caused by Walmart and any other retailer that uses this practice of coercing manufacturers into producing "exclusive" SKUs for identical products just for them. They do this so they don't have to honor any price matches against competitors even if the actual product is virtually identical. Hopefully they can add this EDID for you but I can only see this becoming a bigger problem in the future as Best Buy does the same thing for their Samsung TVs.

I hope your recent experiences have had nothing but positive effects on your opinion of Nvidia.
Have a nice day!
You can try adding that Vizio http://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/2774

If that doesnt work see if you can find an edid of a tv matching yours. Like if you have a full hd lcd tv. Or 120hz dvi-d monitor. Just do a search for edid.
