LG 55LW550T 55-inch Passive 3DTV will it work with 3DTV Play?
Does anyone know if this Display will work with 3DTV Play? I see conflicting information on advertising sites. Some say 100Hz, others say 600Hz. I imagain if it is 100Hz then its not going to work, but want to be sure. Any help would be greatley appreciated.

It seems all lg xxlwxxxx series have to work with 3dtv play but i'v to wait for an answer about having 3dtvplay for free having right now an acer gn245hq (3D vision integrated emiters) connected too but i had experienced 3D only in 720p right now.

Edit: I think 3dtv play can work on 60hz when 3D vision is best in 120hz its your tv that will upgrade the frequencies to 100hz (with an quality like of plasma 600hz by the techno of lg correspondencies) and since 3D passive is all frames i can ensure you will not have any flicker on 60hz based refresh.

Will the LG passive TVs work with 3DTV play, absolutely. Will the 55LW550T work? No.

Why? It is not on the requirement/supported list as of yet.

3DTV Play_________________________________________

3DTV Play is installed along with the current Nvidia drivers. If you have the 3D Vision glasses and emitter it is free, but you must have your emmitter connected for it to activate. If you do not have the Nvidia emitter, you'll need to purchase 3DTV Play to enable it. 3DTV Play will not activate unless the TV/Projector and your graphics card are listed on the 3DTV Play system requirements page http://www.nvidia.co...quirements.html If your TV/Projector is not on the requirement/supported list you can submit it via http://nvidia.custhe...etail/a_id/2774 There's a PDF (user guide)at the bottom of the 3DTV Play requirement page for setting it up. If your TV/Projector and GPU is on the requirement page you'll see the 3DTV Play logo vividly displayed in the "set up stereoscopic 3D" tab of the Nvidia control panel. Then run and successfully complete the setup wizard and you are good to go. For more questions see the FAQ http://www.nvidia.co...-faq-in.html#q1 Nvidia 3DTV Play supports standard HDMI 1.4a 1080p24 and 720p50/60 stacked frame modes.

To be clear, buying 3DTV Play for the currently listed $39.99 enables you to activate 3DTV Play without the purchase of the Nvidia glasses and emitter which typically cost $150 and do not work with the majority of 3D HDTVs, but work well with 3D Vision supported monitors or projectors. 3DTV PLay allows you to use the TV manufacturers 3D glasses or 3rd party 3D glasses that are compatible with your TV/Projector.

The LG passive TVs only accept a 60Hz or lower signal. When you see 100Hz, 120Hz etc this is a pseudo refresh rate. The TV is interpolating frames, by taking 2 frames, comparing them, then generating a frame(s) that is inserted. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Motion_interpolation http://www.hometheater.com/content/frame-interpolation-godsend-or-devils-spawn http://hdtvprofessor.com/HDTVAlmanac/?p=477

There are many gamers using the passive 3D HDTVs with excellent results and are quite happy with them. I've also read that LG has recently released a new algorythm in a firmware update improving 3D quality even farther as well as lag.

50Hz/60Hz or 100Hz/120Hz depends on the region of the TV, a 120 or 240 Hz (current and former NTSC countries) or 100 or 200 Hz (PAL/SECAM countries) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:PAL-NTSC-SECAM.svg http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/100_Hz

Having recently purchased one of these, I can settle any queries that this
passive model works flawlessly with 3DTV Play, detected straight away.

Ok iv'e got my 42lw5500 working right now thanks to the 3D tv play activation utility only 14 days. The drawback is the hdmi limitation 60hz only on 720p and 23 or 24hz on 1080p
Since 42lw5500 is the european version of 42lw550t i think your 55" model have to be functional with last nvidia drivers with nv 3dtvplay activation utility and playing games in 720p (not too bad with assassin creed 3) i will try the Checkboard mode like Samsung after to try if i can manage 1080p 60hz i think i Will buy the 3dtvplay activation.... Even if.... 3D

Edit: the Checkboard mode is working with a 2D 1080p signal at 60hz you can adjust the space between the eye within the tv qmenu after activating 3D mode the image quality is far better than in 720p but on assassins creed 3 the only game i had try right now the depth is a little bit less than using 3dtv play wich i'm using at minimum since the depth effect is really more present.

Edit2: to jaafaman the viewing angle is near perfect about horizontal even if you are really at 170 degrees this like at center or a very few loss of luminosity ( like nothing ) and the 3D effect is same as. But to vertical angle you must have the screen at the same level than your eyes if you'r seing the screen being from upper level the 3D loss and image contrats are strong. I haven't being at a very lower level it seems being the same or less loss.

And for people that talk about quality loss of passive vs active i can ensure that it is like being in 1080i when you use a 1080p signal not in 540p and when you've got a group in front of the screen with everybody seeing the 3D and no ones complaining about flickering, loss of contrast or asking if this things can damage the brain or the eyes? Its an another world than active screen to me.....

Exactly what I needed to know. I needed to seat several folks before the screen, which already leaned toward the passive glasses for cost. Knowing they can all get the same experience helps considerably.

And the feedback is greatly appreciated...
