Have you played Dead Space in s3d?

As I said, I recomend NOT to play this game in stereo if you have appreciation to your eyes.

Ya I'd have to agree Dead Space is a poor/distracting experience in S3D, as there's simply too many issues when it comes to lighting. Some lamp effects only render in one eye, but anytime you get into multiple directed light sources, you get ridiculous amounts of ghosting and double/triple imaging. Its not the typical multiple image you see on high/low contrast areas, as the extra "shadows" are very clearly visible in both eyes. My guess is its due to Dead Space's deferred lighting renderer where each frame is rendered and lighted in multiple passes. Problem it seems is some of those passes aren't translated well to stereo 3D when split to two images based on depth, seems some of those lighting effects stay behind, if that makes sense. Anyways, when there's only 1 dominant light source from behind, the game looks great in S3D, like if you're staring at a wall or something.

Here's a pretty good demonstration from one of Dead Space's devs explaining their deferred lighting and rendering approach: http://www.aeropause.com/2008/08/dead-spac...s-presentation/

Well I've played this game for the full first chapter in s3d and it was really good, very scary.

Basically you have to turn off most of the stuff mentioned here, lights, shadows, blur. Also set depth to almost 0 and convergence as high as possible. I know this sound that there will be no 3d effect but I was surprised that it somehow got a fairly good depth feeling to it and it makes the game so much more scarier.

I did play the game some time ago on 2d and even with less graphic effects, it's a lot better this way since tension grows tenfold on 3d when monsters show around, so at least give it a try with this config.

Yes, I played and tested this game some weeks ago and also I noticed the best result with this game is using minimum depth and high convergence, to prevent double lights and ghosting as possible, but of course it is not stereo, it is only an effect that can be better than playing in 2D. But the principal reason I said it that is not good for the eyes to play forcing the vision for a long time. Of course I did prefer play using this "3D" way than 2D for a few minutes but always I played I finished with eye pain. As I said, "NVidia 3d Vision is something inoffensive if used adequately, but used in hostile circunstances may cause damage or fatigue"... and this game show us one of these circunstances.

I think we usually prefer to play games with dark scenes in 3D not only because the 3d effect, also because 3d monitors (I have 2233rz with LCD TN panel) are too bright for dark scenes, and glasses darkening compensate and makes more interesting and scary the experience. I suggest to disable Nvidida 3d effect from Nvidia Control Panel and use the MagicBright personal profile of the monitor to adjust bright, contrast and gamma to play this game with aceptable dark colors.

Most double lights/flares can be turned off. Not an issue. Shadows are not messed up if you turn them off or set them to low/medium (whatever the high quality option is definitely doesn't work). The only thing that really bugged me was the volumetric effects that caused in game ghosting in the fog around Isaac. It is not perfect, but it was FAR from unplayable.

So I have been playing these last couple of nights. Although not perfect, I have really begun to enjoy playing this game in s3d. I had to set my depth to %25 (which I hate, but learning to deal with), then set up Isaac against a back drop of smoke so I could see the dark shadow around him. I then adjusted the convergence until the shadowing around Isaac disappears, or is barely noticeable. With these settings I am able to leave all graphical options turned on, and things look ok for the most part. Some things still appear to be rendered at incorrect depths.

This is one of my all time fave games, and by giving it just a bit of depth, and the added fidelity of the pc version, I can say that I am happy in my decision to go back to the USG Ishimira. Ah, but only if it could be perfect...

Has anyone seen this? Dead Space : Anaglyph 3D (Red/Cyan) AMAZING!!! If not you need those red/blue(cyan) 3D glasses and you play with it Stereoscopic player or Nvidias 3D Video player.
I watched it and there appears to be almost little to none at all ghosting around Issac but the 3D seems to work well. However this is using 'iz3d directx driver' not Nvidia's driver. I tried switching Dead Space over to the Nvidia 3D Discover mode that uses anaglyph but still got the black ghosting.

I thought maybe you could use the iz3d driver with the Nvidia glasses but it seems you can't because of the usb emitter (won't turn on I think)- see here.

Am going to look into this further.

It is umplayable. I think it is impossible to be "cool" if it is not possible to play. Lights can´t be ignored and shadows must be totally off, and of course would be another "game".

I think we must be more critical, or readers will be confused. A game that is not possible to be played has no way to be good in any aspect. There question is... "is there ANY player who prefer to play in stereo with this game"... and my answer is NOT.
You are entitled to your opinion, but I don't agree. Even with all the problems the game is still much more immersive and scary in 3D than 2D. There clearly are people who would prefer to play this game in stereo in it's current state, like me for instance and several other people who posted in this thread.

It's still a big shame it's not perfect though because it would be the best 3D Vision game IMO without the issues.
