OpenGL Can it be turned off?
Hi Everyone,

I was wondering - can OpenGL be turned off?

I remember the older versions of Quake offered options to choose whether you wanted DirectX or OpenGL - is there a setting to do the same with the modern versions of the game? Doom 3?

Or, can OpenGL somehow be removed or turned off so DirectX would be the renderer of choice?

If DirectX is the renderer of choice for stereo - maybe this is the way to go?

I can't see anyway you could turn off OpenGL if the game was only wrote to use OpenGL, not without some sort of middleware that translateted OpenGL API calls to drirectx

Yes! I agree!

I'm doing some searching on the web, and I think there are some "wrappers" out there that may work.

Let's all do some searching and see if we can find something.

Not sure what you're trying to achieve here - both OpenGL and DirectX work with the nvidia stereo drivers.

Each developer makes their own decision about which API to use when they write the games, but this isn't something that you as a user can change.

You're right, I'm afraid.

I found the Stereo3d driver works better with DirectX than OpenGL, and I was hoping there was a way for OpenGL programs to use or to get translatted to DirectX software calls.

Oh well.
