Nvidia has shipped some briefcases to selected media. The briefcase holds a puzzle tied to a website called the Order of 10. On that site you'll notice a countdown that ends on 6th May 2016.

Well if you checked out the links posted above, you know that Nvidia is planning a big announcement in just over 27 hours, the announcement is scheduled for noon on Friday.
Also if you've checked the humanity shall be enlightened link, you've seen the changes from where it started in space to where it's now showing major cities worldwide.
The consensus is that it's finally going to be the long awaited Pascal announcement.

to my eye it does not look that good. no reason to change, i just get another 980ti like i planned already.
propably won´t go to vr this year anyway so 980ti sli will be efficient enough with 3d vision.
unless 1080 will have significant advantage on dual card setup, what was it nvlink ? then i might concider.

As it turns out NVLink will not be applicable to consumer GPUs.
Pascal GPUs might have better dx12 support and upgraded Display port outputs, AMD is upgrading theirs on the Polaris GPUs.
http://www.guru3d.com/news-story/amd-shows-polaris-10-and-polaris-11-asic-images.html
That benchmark test is using driver 368.03 and the results seem off. I'll wait for more official reviews.
I have been waiting for too long. I hope non reference cooler models will be released at the same time.
Unless it's a ripoff compared to the 1070, I'll buy the 1080.
Here's the 1080 benchmarked on Firestrike. Looks like a decent jump over 980 ti.
http://videocardz.com/59558/nvidia-geforce-gtx-1080-3dmark-benchmarks
And what does a standard 980Ti scores at? Since we are comparing reference cards;)
I don't want to compare the 980Ti Strix OC with a Reference 1080 since is not fair, but a ref vs ref should be good;)
ALSO, we need to take into consideration that the drivers are NOT mature yet for 1000 series;)
EDIT:
Based on this: http://www.guru3d.com/articles-pages/nvidia-geforce-gtx-980-ti-review,23.html the 980Ti SCORES MORE than the 1080 ???? Something is wrong somewhere....
Edit2: Or is this page???
http://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/nvidia_geforce_gtx_980_ti_review,24.html
BUT the article states "NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 8GB — 3DMark11 Performance" NOT 3D Mark 2013 Firestrike....
Something is definitely wrong somewhere...
Based on the score I think we are looking at Firestrike Performance in both cases.
In which case we have:
980Ti ---------------> 15.656
1080 ---------------> 19.005
=> 121.4% Efficiency. So is only 21.4% faster.
With an 980Ti Strix OC (that Overclocks to 30% more than reference) the difference is very little almost non-existent ?!?!
EDIT3:
Benchmark on 980TI STRIX (non OC edition):
http://www.guru3d.com/articles-pages/asus-geforce-gtx-980-ti-strix-review,23.html
980Ti ---------------> 15.656
980Ti Strix ---------> 17.709
1080 ---------------> 19.005
=> 107.4% Efficiency. So is ONLY 7.4% faster.
Of course!!! 1080 will get STRIX versions in which case the 1080 STRIX will be even faster! But not know at launch.
We will definitely NOT SEE a 1080Ti this year and defo NOT a 1080Ti STRIX OC this year. Hopefully next year we will get the best of the best of the Pascal 1000 series;))

Tune-In: NVIDIA Livestream May 7th At 2am On Twitch.TV/NVIDIA
http://www.geforce.co.uk/whats-new/articles/nvidia-special-event
This Saturday, May 7th, at 2am, there’ll be a special NVIDIA livestream you won’t want to miss. Click here to see the time until the stream in your region.
Hmm, no idea what this is. Perhaps a giveaway, like a new Pascal GPU? New Shield announcment? Unless Pascal isn't announced in a few hours when the current count down ends.
2am is awfully late or early, depending on your view and location in the world.

Yah, I thought that the Live Stream was a Team Nvidia event.
Looks like it's actually a Nvidia event.
You'd think that the event would happen as soon as the countdown reached zero in a few minutes.
