3D hurting folks eyes ? whats wrong with people?
  3 / 4
What depth are you using?

There are a few factors at work here id say, Frame-rate, depth, prevalent ghosting, and non-3d-ready artifacts, to name a few...

Surely Arkham Asylum can't be too hurty ?

"Viewing in 3d will damage your vision.... "

How do they cope in real life?
The principal of viewing 2 different images to create realy depth is the reason most of the animal kingdom have 2 eyes.

You can argue about the effectiveness of different types of execution of this principal in movies or gaming but to simply say viewing in 3d will damage your vision is laughably ignorant.

If you have a game playing with a decent framerate then the only extra strain on your eyes is the simple process of changing focus to look at different depths.

There is a new (not really new but to most it is) technology that I:
dont have,
can't afford,
cant understand...
it must be bad and possibly bad for your health!

With respect, it isnt exactly the same as normal viewing. When you focus IRL your eyes line up depending on depth of object (which is what S3D mimics), however in addition to this, your retinas focal point shifts. Nvidia's software obviously cannot simulate/predict where we are looking - yet.

Because of this disparagy and the different way your mind needs to decode the info, you might get brain strain (I read it called somewhere) but I am not sure why you would get eye strain any more than you would normally.

I suppose you could get eye strain from the simple fact that it's darker with those glasses on. If the game isn't all that bright, I expect it would be a bit like reading in dim light.

Of course, if you just got the glasses recently, you can also get dry eyes. One tends to blink less when one is gawking at amazing graphics. ;)

Whenever some bozo says "3D is a silly gimmick" and crap like that, I just tell them to surgically attach an eye patch to one of their eyes and enjoy RL in 2D from now on.

I think its a gimmick, at least in the movie and television industry. They are forcing 3D into movies that shouldn't even have it in the first place, just so they can collect extra revenue.

Television companies are trying to sell 3DTV for double/triple the price for a module that probably only cost them a tenth of the TV's worth to add in.

On top of all that, every competitor is providing their 3D solution as the "standard" solution. The winners in this will continue on, while the rest of the crowd will probably become vaporware.

Either way, 3D will eventually become a standard whether we like it or not because everyone in the industry is forcing it down our throats. Probably then, I will start looking acquiring 3D for myself. Till then, I won't be a tester for these companies.
