How do I know when Lightboost is activated for 3D Vision?
Hi guys! My 3D Vision 1 kit arrived two days ago, so I'm still a newbie. I have a BenQ XL2420T monitor, which seems to support Lightboost. I know the technology also works with version 1 glasses, as per this comment: https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/505011/3d-vision/lightboost-38-3d-vision-glasses-v1/post/3599970/#3599970
But how do I know when it's active? I could be seeing 3D in my games without Lightboost (because I haven't toggled it somehow) and never know it.
Thanks!

I have an Asus VG248 and I can ádjust the amount of lightboost in the on screen menu..
You can also fx enable 3DV in your webbrowser if There's 3D Pictures on screen, try this one..

When 3D kicks in - it is easy to see the difference if ligtboost is on, with or without glasses.
The monitor suddenly went black for a while when I clicked the 3D vision button in that Mad Max image you linked, after it came back on I could see it in 3D. The color tint of the page changed though (colors look more washed-out). Does this mean Lightboost is on?
Btw I can't find any Lightboost options in my monitor's settings.

Yes thats normal when 3D kicks in...
hmm.. I'm don't see any colorss get washed out though... but the White background gets a lot more bright, and it stay on for a few minuttes after I close the web page.

Win7 64bit Pro
CPU: 4790K 4.8 GHZ
GPU: Aurus 1080 TI 2.08 GHZ - 100% Watercooled !
Monitor: Asus PG278QR
And lots of ram and HD's ;)
Hmm two other things I noticed is that when I film my screen with my cellphone when 3D is not on, I can see horizontal darker bands going from the top the bottom of the screen constantly, probably an artifact of the 120 Hz refresh rate vs. the cellphone's camera filming frame rate. But when I turn 3D on, those bands disappear.
Also I noticed that with 3D on, I can see some faint horizontal lines in the header of windows (in the Aero transparency effect at the top of windows), which I can't see when 3D mode is not active. It's as if every other row of pixels was slightly darker.
I don't notice the background getting more bright, though :/ Could you verify if the above things also happen to you when you turn Lightboost on?

I'm sorry Nantes but I dont see any of the mentioned lines ect.
But 3D kikcs in right ?
And if your screen dosn't get brighter I asume that you don't have lightboost on....
Nantes, think of Lightboost as a technology that compensates for the darker vision that stereo 3D creates. It's purpose is not to make everything brighter all the time, but rather it brings the brightness back to normal when 3D is activated. If it is working properly, you won't notice the screen getting bright, it will simply look normal.
3D vision glasses, when activated, make the screen NOTICEABLY more dark. Without Lightboost you will find that you will have to adjust in-game brightness settings way up to achieve a somewhat normal looking picture. When Lightboost is on you will find that you can leave the brightness settings more or less the same as normal. That's the simplest way I can suggest to gauge whether it is on or not. Once you activate the Lightboost feature on your monitor, you pretty much never have to touch it again. I have literally not touched it in 2 years.

This is a very good article;)
http://www.blurbusters.com/zero-motion-blur/lightboost/
While Lightboost was developed ESPECIALLY for 3D Vision, people found a way to hack it and making it work in 2D. If you read the article you will understand why they wanted it;))
In any case, on most monitors you should have an OSD options like shown below:

KEEP in mind this option will trigger only in 3D Vision mode! (Without the hack)
Cheers!

Guys, first, thanks for your answers! Second, I was being stupid! There is indeed NO Lightboost option in my monitor settings WHEN 3D IS OFF. I just found out, however, that the option appears when 3D is on, and I can tweak its level, which will increase or decrease monitor brightness. As such, it's definitely working, and I should have thought of checking monitor settings while 3D is active sooner.
Thanks again for your all your help!
@helifax I already knew about that, I've tried it but found it makes the colors too weird for my tastes. I'm not a FPS nut anyway, so the crisp movement and all would be of little practical benefit to me. Finally, it requires constant 120 FPS for maximum benefit, which I can't get in all games. Thanks for the suggestion though!
