Nvidia 3D discovery option ?
Hi all I have just started using my new PC,windows 7 GEFORCE GTX650 2 gig and came across the setup menu for 3d I assume the 3d discovery option is free and requires the use of anaglyph glasses. Can I use the standard red/cyan glasses or do I need to use another type of anaglyph glasses. Also how do you setup 3d discovery to get them to work? cheers Rhys

You go through the wizard on the NVidia control panel for stereoscopic 3d. As you don't have any 3D Vision setup you select 3D Discovery. When enabled your games will look strange color-wise but most cheap anaglyph glasses will work. I've mostly used cardboard ones I got with an anaglyph movie. I wouldn't recommend it for long durations as you get color after effects and it takes a while for your eyes to adjust and see the world normally.

Thanks to everybody using my assembler it warms my heart.
To have a critical piece of code that everyone can enjoy!
What more can you ask for?

It's funny how the red/cyan in Tridefs anaglyph is actually the right shades, yet Nvidia's colors are of. Can you say "sandbagged" Search the forums, there's a thread that tells how to correct the colors. Otherwise it's pretty sucky if you don't. Also block any reflections on the inside of the glasses. if you don't, the perceived eye rivalry is increased.

To be fair, I've never tried using the anaglyph galsses that Nvidia sells. They may work perfectly and are for sale in their store for $10 (quantity 10) with free shipping http://store.nvidia.com/DRHM/store?Action=DisplayProductDetailsPage&SiteID=nvidia&Locale=en_US&ThemeID=326200&Env=BASE&productID=148411500# Q: How are 3D Vision Discover glasses different than standard anaglyph red/blue glasses? A: The 3D Vision Discover glasses are NVIDIA custom designed anaglyph red/blue glasses, with optimized lens filters to maximize the stereoscopic 3D effect. These filters are calibrated to enable stereoscopic 3D on any desktop display while using the GeForce GPU's programmable shaders for real-time color processing. This solution achieves the high quality anaglyph 3D available by retaining as much color fidelity as possible while eliminating ghosting, completely immersing you in the experience.
