So...I've got a AW2310 and the vision kit and like everyone else, I see TERRIBLE ghosting...I've tried going to 100hz to no avail...now, I read all this that it's both LCD tech and poor glasses being shipped by nvidia...would the CrystalEyes 4 work with the vision kit and look better? Is there some other fix I can perform?
If there is no fix...these are going back for a refund, I can't play RE5 like this, it's truly unplayable.

So whatever. Finally tried to PLAY Re5 instead of just running the benchmark...I went crosseyed and damn near threw up. Text is rendered not in 3D...but I can't focus on it. It just looks terrible...if I took the glasses off I could read text, but with glasses on I had to close one eye. Is this...normal? Even the 3D scenes looked bad - I just closed the game before the first few cutscenes of the game ended. Might this be defective glasses? Or is nvidia really trying to shove something THIS EFFING TERRIBLE down our throats?
Thanks,
RA
Edit: Actually nvidia, don't bother to reply. I fixed the problem.

I get grumpy when I have a headache and feel naseus. Now, if you'll excuse me, I seem to have a piece of plastic embedded in my hand. But hey, I feel slightly better. Certainly amused.

Sounds like you have convergence turned a little high. Did you try reducing before going to town on the glasses? :p
[/quote]
Enabled the option in the driver panel; hit the associated shortcut and saw no change in RE5; no UI displayed on screen to let me know I was changing something...and no effect noticed on screen.
I'll also note, that 3D was reducing perf by over 50% for me...with a GTX580, 1080p, 0xAA...I was barely staying above 30FPS - my min was 30FPS, my average was 40....soooo. Yeah.

I was thinking the exact same thing. Obviously he didn't bother to read up or even look for other solutions, of which are numerous on this forum.
Mr. Android, did you bother to read about how RE5 is not good in 3d? Convergence is locked, and pushed in way too far. So of course it looks bad. But did you bother with other games before you childishly smashed your glasses? I hope you don't drive a car. Someone cuts you off while driving do you ram them on purpose? Childish dude... childish.

It being locked is why it's crapty. I used these on Trine as well (also pretty terrible) and played around with nVidia's own demo, which also showed serious ghosting. I saw no solutions on this forum that were worth anything; I only saw people suggesting one thing or another and getting nowhere. Your telling me RE5 is just bad is only confirmation of this, along with people seemingly confirming the glasses are out of sync and there is no fix for that - tells me that 3D gaming is an incredibly bad tech right now, and nVidia seemingly doesn't care.
Do I drive? Yep. What do you want me to do, hmm? Go try to return them to fry's? That's a good joke... And hey, I didn't waste 150...I only paid 120, and I've still got the stupid emitter...haha!

Trine is one of the best games in S3D, if you have troubles with it - there is something terribly wrong with your set-up, dont blame others for it. I presume you play Trine which is not patched 1.07 (its when it got 3d vision ready status), and if you do - you are ignorant indeed, and should pay attention to what others say in this forum before posting shallow accusations.

Steam version of trine, so yes...patched per the vision instructions; 3D worked, and some things did pop, but it looked like crap. I don't mean I saw ghosting - you can't see it so much there, but it just looked bad. I couldn't finish one level in the game without pulling the glasses off and turning vision off. Posting over on [H] and people pretty much agreed that Trine is a bad 3D title. They suggested RE5 or Batman. I had RE5...sooo. Yeah. My accuasations stand, your poor assumptions do not.

HAHHAHAHAA!! Dude that's so wasteful! /rofl.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> 3dvision REQUIRES adjusting ... and that's a good thing.

Again, I bought from Frys. Mistake? Sure...but returns are next to impossible (seriously...I walked in to buy 3D Vision. Some guy was at the front returning a PS3 that was defective. I find 3D Vision box. I also find a hard drive I want. I go to the front desk because the 3d vision price there is much higher than newegg and Frys price matches. Wait in line for 15 mintues. Wait 20 minutes for them to do the price match. Go to cashier, pay...and as I walk out, who is still trying to make a return but the PS3 guy. Yeah. Oh, and it was his second day trying to make the return.) My time is worth something - and not driving 40 minutes to Frys to stand in line for over and hour for a return...well, that's worth the satisfaction of ruining the glasses. Believe me, I don't normally do that. And why didn't I kill the monitor? Because...well, it works.
As for the thing requiring adjusting: Please, tell me what I missed. All I saw was depth and convergance...and the latter is apparantly locked (yes, I saw the nVidia rep on the forums talking about this) and depth could reduce ghosting...but that meant I also reduced the 3D effect. The ghosting was so bad that the 3D effect wasn't there to begin with - I truly saw no amount of 3D.
Edit: Also, yes, I went through the monitor settings; I tried turning the contrast down; I switched from custom RGB mode to gaming...and went to look at dynamic contrast, but it was grayed out. Overdrive was set...nothing really made it better.
I ran through the initial setup of vision when I plugged it in, where it tells you to close one eye and all...and it appeared to work. I also tried running the 3D Vision test (the nvidia logo rotating moving forward/backwards) and while it looked like 3D, it also clearly had ghosting. I had to sit 3 feet back from the monitor before the ghosting vanished.
Believe me, I tried...I really did, I really wanted it to work, but this entire product screams rushed, and that nvidia didn't invest proper resources. I've known of people who worked at NV and they've had nothing good to say, so I can only imagine what this product team is like...If this were truly due to USB lag, why not build in a direct output from the videocard that pulses (or however 3DTVs work with that din connector), thus removing any USB lag.
To summarize my feelings of this product...well, it feels like you go off and buy a really nice car - let's say an Acura TSX or something. You add a cold air intake, flash it so the mass air flow sensors don't go nuts...and then to finish it off, you buy a massive spoiler kit, drill through your trunk and bolt it on. And 3D vision in this case is the damned spoiler. It just doesn't seem to fit, and seems to be an afterthought by nVidia...when it could damn well be something pretty amazing.
To nVidia: You seem to realize there are issues with this - you've got a crowd on here that unlike me is suffering through it. How about you start to listen to them - take their feedback and act on it. And moreover, make some posts explaining problems. If people think that adding a delay regkey in HKLM or something might help...well, why not try? Hack the driver up, product a beta driver for it and distribute it to some testers and see if that can help. I mean...you've got RE5 listed as a premium title and people on here are saying that it's one of the worst; this entire product line feels like you just don't care. I mean, you're apparantly playing the "blame everything other than our hardware/drivers/software" game. I remember when Creative played that game when the X-Fis would make noise while playing BF2 and eventually crash. They blamed your IRQ timings. They blamed your RAM. They said your CPU wasn't fast enough. They said your card was too close to the PSU. They said it was too close to the videocard (yeah. Move it up! No, move it down!) They said it was ANYTHING but their fault. But you know what? A year later I was on the SAME hardware - no changes - and it suddenly worked with new drivers. The way you (nvidia) are handling this feels the same. I'm done dealing with companies that do this. What is it? Are you just afraid of a class action suit or something?

Whatever you say, I assure you Trine is one of the best things that ever happened to S3D. You must have something really screwed up for it not to work properly. I have non-Steam version though but if you look at "Best games in 3d" thread on top of this forum you will find bunch of people attesting to it throughout.
And - maybe you did not unlock convergence via nVidia contol panel 3d settings? it's locked by default btw (no idea why)

I can only suggest trying to view some some screens from solutiongaming.com, if they show good 3d vs. actual games you play, you can point that out, could be some bug in your videocard or else. As for me - I flame nVidia now and then for late 3d game profiles, but I always thought their tech is awesome.
Besides, ghosting is totally hardware issue when monitor pixels do not react quick enough to go bright/dark on contrast scenes when you have 2 similar pictures shifted left/right to create s3d effect. newer monitor models do better and projectors don't have this issue at all since they have a ray picturing top bottom on passive screen for each frame.

Thanks,
RA

My thoughts on nVidia 3D Surround: http://rampantandroi...es/IMG_0542.JPG
Intel Core i7 920 @ 3.2 | Thermalright TRUE-120 | eVGA X58 | EVGA GTX 580 | Creative X-Fi - Snap Crackle Pop edition | 12 GB DDRIII-1333 | Pioneer DVR-212 | Zune 120GB Originals | Zune HD 64GB | Shure SE530s | Westone UM3Xs | Beyerdynamic DT250s | Alienware AW2310

Edit: Actually nvidia, don't bother to reply. I fixed the problem.

I get grumpy when I have a headache and feel naseus. Now, if you'll excuse me, I seem to have a piece of plastic embedded in my hand. But hey, I feel slightly better. Certainly amused.
Note to self: never buy from nVidia again.

Sounds like you have convergence turned a little high. Did you try reducing before going to town on the glasses? :p

3dvision REQUIRES adjusting ... and that's a good thing.

I enabled it. I looked over the entire CP, believe me...I tried to make this work. I really did. I'll admit, Trine was better than RE5 was...no doubt about that.

As long as you got some satisfaction out of it, i suppose.
Sure there are problems, it's inherent in most PC gaming in general. But most of us love the 3d experience and are willing to work with it, not suffer through it. It's all in your state of mind mr.smashysmash
