@DHR:
I could solve the issue by disabling the "motion blur" in the effect settings of the game. Now everything works perfectly fine! Again, many thanks!
Great that now works perfect...
One of the rules here in the 3D community is always disable Motion Blur and DOF. normally this effects are broken and we never fix those (not worth the time).

Hey DHR, sorry to bother you with this. Do you have an idea if your fix still works for this game?
I finally had some time and wanted to play this, but I've spent about 2 hours trying to get it to work without success.(Win 10, driver 381.65 after DDU)
The main problem for me is not the game's 3D, I'm ok with LEGO games in general. But it's the screen turning black during story missions, when you're not collecting studs, which is the big issue. So when that happened, I googled it and found your fix, so I was happy because it said it fixed the black screen.
Now, if I follow your instructions, the 3D never triggers in the game. That's probably due to the force_no_nvapi=1 parameter. If I switch it to 0 the fix seems to activate, hotkeys work, convergence is unlocked, some shadows are broken, but unfortunately the black screen priblem is still there.
I noticed on the blog that you suggested force_no_nvapi=0 and automatic_mode=1 for newer drivers. I tried this too, which seems to make the fix function correctly, less broken shadows, but again the black screen issue happens.
It's getting very frustrating, the last thing I can try is to see if my Win 7 rig behaves differently, but if you know already what it might be please let me know.
Did we ever understood why the black screen is happening? Practically I don't even need the game to be fixed in 3D, if you only address the issue of the black screen I would be much grateful.
Thank you in advance, you or anyone who has an idea!

Hi Zappologist!
You can try this method:
1) Make a backup of "LEGOSWTFA_DX11.exe"
2) Open the "LEGOSWTFA_DX11.exe" with Notepad++ and search for "nvapi64.dll". You will found 3 of them in the same line.
3) Change "nvapi64.dll" for "nvbpi64.dll" in the 3 spots
4) Save and close Notepad++ (important to close Notepad++)
5) Start the game in DX11 or Start the game with LEGOSWTFA_DX11.exe (edited one)
The previous method (edit EXE), using force_no_nvapi=1 or automatic_mode=1 is to force the game to render using the Nvidia Automatic and not the game render (game render have the black screen issue). In my case i use win7 and the 3 method works as expected (don't have win10 to test). So, if you disable the game render you will have a broken 3D game, unlocked convergence and the black screen issue fixed. That's why we need the fix:
Shadows, lights and halos should be fixed using the fix.
if you still have broken shaders, post a screenshot (always better to understand what happens).
Also disable Motion Blur.

Thank you DHR, this was the next thing I wanted to test, before trying my old Win 7 PC.
Thankfully, it worked. I've modified the exe, then I changed the force_no_nvapi=1 to 0 in the ini.
Now everything is perfect! Thank you so much for this fix. Even if normally LEGO games are ok in 3D, without your fix this game would not be playable at all due to the black screen bug.
So, for other people who might search for this info in the future, I confirm that the fix still works on Win 10 and newer drivers, with some adjustments. The information on the Helix blog is no longer valid in some cases such as mine. If you have the same issue, first search for info on the previous fix version, on how to modify the exe, then slightly modify the d3dx.ini from the blog release to have force_no_nvapi=0 instead of 1.
Thank you DHR!!!
PS
Do we know which other lego games besides this and Jurassic have the black screen issue?
I've encountered one more in the past, but I don't remember which one.

Great that works! strange that force_no_nvapi=1 or automatic_mode=1 in win10 don't work in this game/engine. At least in win7 are working OK.
Jurassic also have this issue (black screen)...Mike made a fix for DX9 (look the thread related). Also i partialy fix Jurassic in DX11, i stop because Mike's DX9 fix is working fine. I don't remember other LEGO game with this issue.
And LEGO City Undercover don't have the black screen issue, because they remove the internal 3D render from the engine...game is broken in 3D.
