Alice Madness Returns still keeps crashing
  2 / 2
So my runs went like this on a fresh Origin install: 1st Run Crash to Desktop Disabled Origin In Game 2nd Run Fine, Set Res & Enabled 3D in-game options 3rd Run Fine Reenabled Origin In Game 4th & 5th Runs Fine So now I'm thinking it might have something to do with Syncing and Cloud Storage ... Deleted %USERPROFILE%\Documents\My Games\Alice Madness Returns\*.* (All with Origin In Game enabled) 1st Run Hard Crash, Ctrl+Alt+Delete and EndTask 2nd Run Fine, Set Res, Enabled 3D in-game options, Set PhysX to high 3rd & 4th Runs Fine I'd suggest trying to turn off Syncing and Cloud Storage and at the very least deleting the ini files in %USERPROFILE%\Documents\My Games\Alice Madness Returns\AliceGame\Config\ (or renaming %USERPROFILE%\Documents\My Games\Alice Madness Returns\) if it's not the drivers and it works like it did for me it should crash on the 1st run and then be fine after that, let me know if it works for you if not I'll try the drivers you're using. *None of this was using the HelixMod for it edit: tried it with the HelixMod for the HUD and it worked fine as well.

followed your instruction, no crashing but lightning and shadows are of, look into ini even ingame 3d is set to on, ini says "AllowNvidiaStereo3d=false", I believe more and more its a problem of the game like the umbrella bug, it rarely happens and when it does its difficult to fix. Thanks for trying to help. ps. sorry for my bad english.

Change the AllowNvidiaStereo3D line to True, mine was already set to True ... and hopefully that should do it. I get haloing on Alice at the title screen with it set to False. I did try it with the latest drivers(344.60) and it's still working fine, so if setting that line to True doesn't work then it may be a profile issue and a reinstall of drivers may fix that.

if I set AllowNvidiaStereo3D line to True, Game crashes with 3d vision enabled regardless of other options inside or outside of the game (I did a complete reinstalling of Windows 7 x64 4 weeks ago(formatting and everything else included))

Sorry to necro this thread but this post shows that this issue is STILL persistent. If I just press enter to get to main menu, stops responding and needs to be force-quit. If I delete the ini files and try again or I can not enter the menu again as it stops responding and needs force quit, I can get into the menu, but after configing the game and trying to start a game, stops responding and needs to be force quit, then I need to wipe the ini files again, but this is a never ending loop as I can never get a game to start, even from a new install of Windows 7 x64. Nb: This game only force qujits for me if I go into task manager, then processes and right-click on the games exe and select "End Process Tree" End task or End Process alone do not force quit this game for me. Steam version works perfectly fine with W7 64 368.22 for me. Did you update all of your motherboard drivers after your new install of Windows 7 x64 Simply deleting an ini to reset your video/resolution selections will not work if they are also set in the registry. Did you check there?

Try to delete all files in C:\Users\"..."\Documents\My Games\Alice Retour au pays de la folie\AliceGame\Config This will restore your graphics settings. Launch the game in 3D and without modifying settings and play. If it's ok, change the resolution, shadows. I don't remember what settings causes the problem but I had the same problem a few years ago.

I keep coming back to this thread when it is necro'd since this is a game I own and enjoy. I have installed this game on 2 motherboards, 2 GPUs, 2 different OS's (currently I am on Windows 10), and countless different drivers. I have never had a problem with crashing or with 3D Vision. I used to play the game off of a disc, but now I run it through Origin. I just verified that it's working fine for me.

My game was crashing in the main menu after pressing enter or when loading save. If I disable 3DV or use "allowNvidiaStereo3d=False" game works like others'. Tried every solution in this topic and in the other topic and only worked thing is: "Enabling antialiasing" in game. I tried changing almost every setting in options and nothing made a difference except antialiasing. With "allowNvidiaStereo3d=False" I start the game and change the options as I wish and set the antialiasing on. After loading a save I can change aa to off, can continue to play, but when exiting, game will crash and to be able to start the game again I have to do everything above again. I was going crazy after hours of trying. Now I can play this beautiful game in 4K. Hope this helps to people (if there's any) still trying to figure out a way to play in 3D.
