Zalman Trimon 3D monitor & Vista 64 bit
Hi, I recently got to experience true 3D through a Zalman monitor running Vista 32 bit/8800GT.

I see on the Zalman website that their "3D" monitor is only supported in Vista 32-bit (but i also see that the FAQ is outdated, overall their site looks outdated, that's why i ask my question here ;)

My question is if the 3D effect now works with the new drivers under Vista 64 bit. 3D Vision is not yet available here, and the Zalman 22" 3D monitor is available locally (in Holland) for around 300 EUR (which is much cheaper then a 3D Vision goggles/120hz monitor bundle solution anyways...).

I saw the Zalman 19" monitor in action with Left 4 Dead with the new 3D Nvidia drivers, and it was georgeous. So I am really interested in buying one, I just need to know for sure that it is going to work with Vista 64 bit before i go on this 3D adventure.

System specs:
Vista 64 bit business edition
Asus 8800 ULTRA
Intel Q6600 /4 GB DDR2 RAM

**************EDIT***************

Nevermind... although the 'normal' section of their 3D monitors (on Zalman website) states that they don't support anything other then Vista 32 bit, there is a link to a new manual on the main website, which states that it does support Vista 64 bit... So I hope to be a 3D gamer soon :)

Report back with your experience.

I have not heard much about the Zalman 3D displays. Tell us all how it works out, eh.\

Yeah, please tell us more. I also live in Holland and I'm willing to kill a whole continent to get some 3D

Well, I had the chance to test some more games on the display (a friend of mine owns a Zalman, so I didn't test all of this with my own rig). And the results are promising, but not everything seems to work... ill explain. The PC ran, I believe, the latest Nvidia 3D Stereo drivers / Nvidia video drivers running a dual boot with the final beta built of Windows 7 (32-bit) and Vista (32-bit), and they both produced similar results (prob. exact the same), so it does work in Windows 7. It was an Intel Dual Core @ 2.67Ghz / 2 GB RAM / RAID 0 / 8800GT 512MB stock model.

We tested some games listed on NVidia's 3D Vision website : the ones rated Excellent in particular, since the Zalman monitor supports the same games as Nvidia's 3D Vision. So :

* Battlefield 2; 3D effect was there, but there we're a lot of moving shadows, also with shadows disabled, a lot of crap was moving around, which made the game unplayable... so not that excellent at all (to 3D Vision users : Does it really work flawlessly? Or did some d***ebag just reported the game as excellent)

*Left 4 Dead; The best 3D i've seen on the Zalman sofar; deep depth and the only thing not working in this game is the name of the person hovering above their character, which i believe can be disabled, and isn't that big of a deal at all... so really worth buying the Zalman!

*Call of Duty 4; no real problems here, although the effect of depth is there, it isn't as good as in L4D, but still really interesting to play.

These were the games I've seen in action myself, tomorrow we're gonna test Mirrors Edge. Games I want to test in the future : Company of Heroes and Team Fortress 2.

I'll post an update when we've done some more testing.

Hi

The Zalman monitor support in our driver includes the same operating system (Vista 32-bit and 64-bit) and game support. So yes, Vista 64 is supported with the driver available here: http://www.nvidia.com/object/stereo_3D_182.07.html

Hi
I bought a Zalman 19" monitor last week (running on Vista 32) and it's very good and I’m impressed. I just thought I’d mention though that I’ve found that I don’t agree with the ratings from Nvidia, but as the system works differently to Vision 3D this might be the reason. Two Worlds which is excellent I find only to be fair to good, while Joint Operations which was fair seems better, but the best game I’ve played with is Oblivion which is only rated Good. With Oblivion I’ve got amazing results with objects coming out of the screen, especially rain when looking at the sky. I did have to tweak with the advance features (convergence) to get the best picture but I would recommend this monitor.

I haven’t used any other display for 3d so I can’t really compare it against any other, but I am extremely happy with it. I’ll have to go buy some new PC games now to try a few more.

Just found and ordered a Zalman Trimon 22" for only 240 Euro tax included.
I am going to use it in vista 64.

To date the support for games is identical to 3d vision as the la latest stereo driver 182.08 is the same.

I'll surely switch to 3d vision when some more (not expensive) 120 hz monitor will come out without the ghosting issue which seems to be a serious con.

I can tolerate Zalman's half of the horizontal resolution but not the Samsung's ghosting.

I thought Samsung's 2233RZ had less ghosting (own a Zalman myself, and am about to buy a Samsung because of the res)
