Stereogaming with Dual LCD questions Specific questions with setup
Hey guys, long time away from stereoscopic games (is there any other kind of games that are worth playing heheh) , I now getting 2 Dell 24" LCD and want to get rid of my 21" Sony CRT . I've search and read on the dual monitor and mirror setup , but still I have some doubts about my comp and its compatibility with stereoscopic gaming .
My questions inevitably direct to the forum oldhands on dual LCD displays in stereo gaming , specifically :
1- Intel dual core E6600 : will it work with stereocopic using 7900GS with both CPU ?(I've read some on this forum saying one CPU needs to be disable, is it AMD dual core issue or commone for Intel dual core as well ? Sorry if I missed the exact details).
2- 7900GS resolution max is 2560x1600 ,the resolutions of these 24" Dell are 1920X1200 . Will dual displays using this card produce acceptable scaled down stereo ?
3- The mirror setup with 2 monitors requires a holding stand for the mirror . Is there a off the shelf stand that can be used for this purpose ? ( I am not handy with building/constructing , especially without any kind of tools) . Further more, anybody knows of a contraption that hold the mirror in that position when in use but can be folded up and away between the two monitor, folded to wards the back - hidden away ?
4-My comp is going to run with Media Center OS . Is this OS compatible with this stereoscopic gaming setup ?

Yes it WILL ;-) We have a problems with starting stereo on several configurations (mostly with DualCore CPU-s). At this moment I haven't this problem with ForceWare 92.91 but other people have... At another topic you can find roll-about this problem by going to single-core (just for time ;-)). When new drivers realesed - I'm sure problem fully going on...

To connect those monitors you need Dual-link DVI (2 Dual-link DVI's for 2 monitors). Your card it have! For information: GeForce7800 GT/GTX had only 1 Dual-Link DVI (only one monitor can be connected with full resolution) and GeForce7800 GS - DON'T have it...; GeForce 7900 all versions have 2 Dual-Link DVI's.

This OS - just modifed WindowsXP. You haven't additional problems by using this OS.
For info about Mirror system:
it very interesting ;-) I'm just test it, not use "everyday"; but I have a trouble: Games based on Doom3 (like Quake4, Prey) - don't work in those mode at current drivers!!!

Thanks much ! I feel better with the configuration, the system will arrive in three weeks and I'm anxious for not being able to test it out in stereogaming yet.
Some clarification if you would:
- Do you have Intel dual core or AMD dual core ?
- What kind of mirror stand do you use ?
Thanks again . Perl
