FPS absolutely depends on the game. Dont pay much attention to that red FPS message while a game is loading and dont use external FPS counters, press ALT+F for vorpX FPS monitoring. Besides, VorpX is using a technique that allows you to even run a game on 45 FPS without flickering in case of CPU/GPU hungry games. @paul you can check for a game here http://rjkole.com/gamestuff/latst.php . If you find it in the list you can make a request.
UT3 gets 300-400 fps on my desktop.... in vorpX only getting around 30 fps unless I drop the settings all the way down to minimum. Upgraded to a 1080GTX and still the same. Any trick I am not getting here? Only game that runs at acceptable fps is Left For Dead..i.e. Source engine that came out in 2003.....even Unreal 2007 chugs along at around 30 FPS unless you turn everyting to absolute minimum then it gets around 60-70 fps in the headset. Why is this? Unreal 2007 runs at 300+ fps on the desktop.

@3D-Mike Oh no, sorry to hear that. Unfortunately i cant give you advice on this particular game. If that game is on the list under "local profiles" meaning officially supported, please describe your problem in the vorpX forum PS: you must turn oFF 3D-Vision when using VorpX ! @Electric That is strange, those games are relatively old and should run without any problems on high FPS. Several things could cause this but i would also advice you to ask that question in the VorpX forum if the game is on the supported list. Though you could first try to turn off V-Sync, turn OFF Antialiasing, do some optimizing of your Nvidia Settings. Put any STeamVR settings to default , especially Supersampling. PS: i am not shure but i think in VR you cant get more then 90FPS at all. One important thing is that you choose a 4:3 resolution, with 16:9 you are waisting resources. ( like said it may take a while until you get familiar with all that) ----------------------------- I have just tested UT3 on high resolutions, 4X Antialiasing, example: 2560x1920 with 45/90FPS on WIN7 64 / GTX970 / I7 4Ghz. And on 1920x1440 with absolutely no framedrops. May be either your CPU is too slow or you are having an optimzing problem.

Those specs of his are far from terrible. An i7 4XXX is too slow? This is honestly why I refuse to buy the program without a demo/Steam protection. Everything seems to be getting funneled back to the forum without any actual answers. That and I just read a thread on Reddit where someone was mentioning how Vorpx is terrible and warps everything in unnatural ways (which is a complaint I remember hearing quite often now that I think about it). My radar is raised and it just seems too good to believe once you start getting into the details.
Hmmm, just bought VorpX to try it out. It worked with Star Wars Battlefront II but I didn't like it so much because of the bad resolution (normally I use it with 3D-vision in crisp clear full hd 3D) Now I wanted to play it without VorpX again (closed the VorpX software) but it doesn't work anymore!! VorpX changed something in the game (I had to give the vorpx-software administrator-rights because it told me to do so) and now I can't start it anymore (game crashes, won't launch)! I managed to start it one time but it had a low resolution: I changed it back to 1920x1080 but then the game crashed. I already reinstalled it but no luck yet! VorpX destroyed my game! Help please!
I Also tried alien isolation a year Back or so, and when this thread came i wondered what means "you just need to customise it to your linking" type comment as i found vorpx to have like 2 settings, nothing major to change and alien isolation looked like complete messy 2d crap compared to 3D vision. Well ok it was played in a "3D" virtual room but the screen it was player was 2d. i was using pimax 4K. Well did not find the hmd that criso Also, i bet that played some part in the overal visuals. I would be glad if some one said i just did not know how to use vorpx. It was not the software but me. But i don't keep My hopes that high. Well see when ever a decent hmd with bigger for and resolution comes to retailers. Maby then its time to slander vorpx again. It is kind of funny there is people who are now so into VR and have used 3D vision and now saying is so not as good as VR, its different thats all . I have tried pimax4k, vive and oculus. They were super crap visually, Yes presence is awsome but its kind of flawed experience when you are looking at it from inside a tube. The comfort is way off from another world compared to normal 3D glasses. And way of i mean negatively. even when the visual improve next years and so on, the comfort does not that much as you still wearign a sweat mask. Atleast to me virtual reality is still far away thing. And im one of those guys why have dreamed about this from kid. Over 30 years now.
I bought vorpx years ago and know all about all of Ralf's canned responses about resolutions and aspect ratios and in game settings. Still with a 1080GTX w/ an AMD 8350 4.2ghz running at at 300+ fps on the desktop I don't see why it clunks along at 30-40 in the headset. It seems the only way the game runs at 60+ fps is to turn everything to minimum (mostly textures/resolution). I tested extensively and it seems that lowering textures/resolution to minimum had the biggest effect, like it was easier for VorpX to handle that at the fps it should be getting. This tells me that Vorpx for some reason isn't directly utilizing my 1080GTX, since that is specifically what the 1080 is supposed to do, i.e. man-handle large textures and resolutions. If VORPX was utilizing my 1080GTX correctly, I would be able to maintain 60-70+ FPS (at least) with high resolutions and high textures if I turn all the CPU intensive light/shadows to off (assuming CPU is culprit) What I see with vorpx is that it only maintains high fps at minimal resolution and texture detail... this tells me vorpx is not worth the money since I upgraded my GPU to a 1080GTX and saw no difference. I wouldn't be surprised if there was some internal setting somewhere in vorpx that was screwing it up. Bottom line, with my level of experience and the time I spent with it, if I can't play a 12 year old game in it at 60-90 fps, Vorpx gets a thumbs down from me. I am not flushing another $500 into VORPX on a new CPU and motherboard... my current CPU is rated almost 10,000 on Passmark.. paired along with a 1080GTX.. if VorpX reduces my FPS to 1/10th of what it is on the desktop on a 10+ year old game, then VORPX is garbage

@Electric V-Snyc must be turned off in your Nvidia Panel vorpX doesnt have a v-sync setting. 45/90 is the lowest/highest reading of the VorpX FPS counter (ALTZ+F). If you look at the directVR page of vorpX there are 2 switches that have influence on FPS. Unfortunately their presence depend on the game and in UT3 they are not visible. What you could try for a test, make a copy of the Unreal 3 Engine Profile, rename the games exe for example to UT33.exe and add it to the new profile. This way you should be able to see the settings on the DirectVR page. But be aware supported profiles are always optimzed ones, so you may not get the result you want with the copy. Certain settings require the expert button on the main page to be anabled, keeping vorpX from making any changes to game or settings enable "dont let vorpX make any changes". @Metal-O-Holic When i got new to it i was complainig exactly about the same, 3D Vision is much clearer, but on the other hand VR will probybly never reach that "clearness" because you would need a monster PC to satisfy that 78k display. On most games i always fell back to 3D Vision exactly for that reason. On the other hand with a simple VIVE for example you can improve image quality A LOT be following these steps (if your PC is fast enough): -Gain resolution to the highest possible value that you can set, example 2560x1920 or even higher -Use VorpXs image sharping -Turn on Antialiasing in Nvidia Panel (can be especially helpful with lower res.) For me personally the 3D Effect (you have massive influence on that inside vorpX) meanwhile overweights the "3D-Vision clearness", for example i was recently playing Call of Duty 2. On that "small" 27 inch monitor i wasnt even able to see all my enemies and i got killed all the time by bullets and granades flying around. In VR the game was so easy to play through because a was able to target enemies "in real lifesize". I dont even notice the lack of image crispness anymore and my 3D vision glasses are collecting dust already. when you are looking at it from inside a tube. Field OF View is very important in VR, most games must be tweacked through a console command or ini setting, though VorpX has a FOV improvement Slider on the 3D page which helps in many cases already. BTW: We must keep in mind that VorpX is a driver that brings VR to non VR games and it works damn good. Of coarse each game is different and must be handled individually but for the price of one new VR game vorpX brings us hundrets of games to 3D Stereo in VR. Though i understand your thoughts completely. Current HMDs are relatively uncomfortable to wear, probably too heavy, i hate that wire hanging around too, but still better then the old "Elsa Glasses"

@RJ: you said you already made some shader fixes for Vorpx similar to helixmods can you tell us whether we can expect games to be fixed for VorpX in the future similar to what the incredible helix community is doing? I have only tested a bunch of games so far using Vorpx, but for all of these the shaders were not working correctly. so it would be awesome if those could be fixed!

@sanofGan Not many people are aware of the fact that you can fix vorpx games with the helixmod too. So i am probably the only one who tested that so far. You can either watch this thread in the vorpx forum or put your game on this list. Hope some other people will start using the helixmod too and that it will work with other games as well. EDIT: Older Helixmod dlls may crash VorpX, always use the newest release, or a relase dating around 2017. -------------------------------- Can anyone with Windows7/64 confirm that DGVOODOO2 does not provide Stereo output with VorpX ? -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
