Can anyone give me some suggestions on setting this game up in 3D. I just bought this game on DVD using a gift card and the game is installing as I type this. I trust this community with better judgement on setting this game up for 3D! All suggestions including mods would be appreciated...
Cheers guys!

Instructions by arioch:
The autoexec.cfg file goes into the same location of the D3BFGConfig.cfg file. It should be located at the following location if you allow Steam to install games to their default location on your hard drive.
C:\Users\home\Saved Games\id Software\DOOM 3 BFG\base
To create the file simply create a text file called autoexec.txt and then rename it to autoexec.cfg. You will need to have your folders option set to enable the renaming of file extensions. After that simply open it with wordpad or notepad and fill it with the settings you want.
Then add this..
set com_allowConsole “1″
seta g_fov “90″
seta r_multiSamples “8″
seta r_maxAnisotropicFiltering “16″
seta stereoRender_convergence “12″
Go into game then adjust based on depth setting you choose ingame. convergence -> seta stereoRender_convergence “12″
based on that setting. You can do it in console I believe. Then just make sure you change it in you autoexec.
There are other instructions like removing headbob, changing lasersight, etc there.

Thanks for all the tips eqzitara!
This game is a big disappointment so far primarily from the fact that I am unable to get the 3D to kick in. Here is my setup and if anyone can offer some tips to get this working in 3D I would most appreciate it. I bought the DVD retail version which does get installed through steam. I have a compatible Samsung 51" for 3D TV play which is what I use for my 3D gaming. In order for 3D to work on my display, game resolutions need to be set to 1280x720 60Hz or 1920x1080 24Hz. I've set every possible 3D setting within the game options and the profile does not kick in. Anyone have any ideas what I am doing wrong. I really don't want to turn my DVD into an expensive beer coaster...

Check comments on 3dvision blog if I am wrong. If it happened to anyone else maybe they found solution.
It should work in side by side. The game doesnt need to use 3D vision unless Frame Packing. Try selecting Side by Side full mode. It has its own renderer so as long as your display supports side by side you shouldnt even need 3d vision/tv play.

I did all that but when I started the game, I verified in the console that some of the those settings just were not what I set in autoexec.cfg. My autoexec.cfg sets r_maxAnisotropicFiltering to 16. In the game, I open the console, type in r_maxAnisotropicFiltering, and it says it is still at 8. My autoexec.cfg sets stereoRender_interOccularCentimeters to 20 like the 3D Vision blog suggested. But when I type stereoRender_interOccularCentimeters at the console, it says it is still at 6.5. And you know what? I tried manually changing it to 20 by typing "stereoRender_interOccularCentimeters 20" (no quotes), and the screen became an utter mess. And how were you able to change convergence to 90? I typed "stereoRender_convergence 90" at the console, and the screen became an utter mess also. The max working convergence seems to be 10 or so. I'm sorry, but all this advice posted all over net about changing these settings seems to be baloney.

You are right I copied the wrong info, I wanted arioch's post but copied someone elses info. Seems whoever I copied used fov in convergence value.
seta stereoRender_convergence “12″
Start with that then find what values you need. I have no idea about the anisotropic filtering/Depth. I used the bar and that was more then enough for me.
Id recommend reading arioch's posts in the comments of 3d vision blog he is the one who knows what hes doing most with doom 3. He posts his size for a 27" display so basically if you are on smaller display you probably only need to increase a bit. If you want to just copy and paste it you might save yourself the hassle. I wasnt too crazy about doom 3 so I didnt do as much research so didnt want to mess with gun coordinates.

I found this information very useful. However, I tried going to Helixmod website first to find a tweak guide for convergence and there was no entry for this game there, perhaps one can be added to the site to point to this thread or maybe to here: http://3dvision-blog.com/8439-doom-3-bfg-edition-is-out-now-with-stereoscopic-3d-support/#comments
