EDIT: Fixed
Hey all, was throwing this out there in case anyone has already worked it out.
I am trying to get Deus Ex (Original) working with mods in 3D. In dx9, the game runs perfectly in 3D but looks very dated. By installing new vision mod it looks much crisper, but then I have to run it in DX-10. DX-10 works perfectly other then it creates 2D light coronas around certain light points. This really affects playability.
Does anyone know how to turn these off? setting Coronas=False in the .ini for
[D3DDrv.D3DRenderDevice] seems to do nothing.

NVIDIA TITAN X (Pascal), Intel Core i7-6900K, Win 10 Pro,
ASUS ROG Rampage V Edition 10, G.Skill RipJaws V 4x 8GB DDR4-3200 CL14-14-14-34,
ASUS ROG Swift PG258Q, ASUS ROG Swift PG278Q, Acer Predator XB280HK, BenQ W710ST
Thanks for your help Kingpin, I copy and pasted that into the ini, but the coronas were still there and also without laser sight it will be pretty tough (aiming is hard enough even with sights enabled in this game!) To be honest, I just edited a few things on the ini and it made no difference, so it's clearly not picking up stuff from the part of the .ini i'm editting.
I have posted a note on the mods forum, if I fix it will update!

if you don't find d3d10 with ctrl+f then you are editing the wrong file.

Thank you for bearing with me. *facepalm. Was editing the one in the system folder, funked around with the ini in the user folder and it sorted it out. for anyone not sure what to do, here is the guide.
1 - Install new vision 1.5 with Kentie renderer.
2 - Download a dx9 renderer and pop that in the Deus ex stsyem folder.
3 - Copy and paste these settings to the deus ex .ini found in C:\Users\xxx\Documents\Deus Ex\System\deusex.ini

4: Run game, in data directories select both New Vision mods.
5: Configure game: Select non scaling GUI, select DX9 render. (if you have problems later with voice skips or music glitches set Audio Latency to 60 or higher)
6: Run game, turn 3d laser sites on and enjoy some seriously good 3D Hi Res Deus Ex action.
How to know if it works:
Training level: Has bricks instead of blank walls
Opening Level: You can clearly see wood grain and lighting doesn't have 2D coronas.

For anyone who hasn't already played this game, or played it once a long time ago and has considered playing it again, please do! The first level was a poor as I remember, but it quite quickly becomes one of the best games ever made that works close to perfect in 3D. A true pleasure to play again with depth that is rarely seen within Games.

Whats the con of the dx9 over dx10. I really doubt it has enhanced... anything. Especially since dx10 was a bust [Crysis is like only game that had an improvement without ridiculous performance issues]. But I thought new vision was built for the dx10 renderer.

The game looked very dated becuase New Vision wasn't working in DX9 (mod for high textures). So the con of DX9 was no new vision! However, I have fixed that so am now running dx9 with much improved graphics via the mod. Other then that, the only thing I noticed in DX10 was that lighting seemed to be better but 2D. I didn't check for long, but the differences looked mild at best and may have only been coronas.
Have you played the original Deus Ex eqzitara? If not, I really can recommend it if you love incredibly deep, well written (and quite relevant story with the current Prism and Edward Snowden Scandel) games you will probably love it.... as long as you can look past some very dated character models and a very mediocore first level!

Agreed, the original Deus Ex is a masterpiece. I still remember when I decided to **********, and it really felt like /my/ decision. I'm sure the story forces it at a certain point, but it really felt like the right thing to do at the time, and I felt like I really influenced the course of events.

Even though you have a lot of choice about how you play the game, and which direction to take (You could easily miss many sections of the game first time round) I think most of the story and choices were completly scripted (will find out this time around). But the beuty of it was that it really made you feel like you were in control, so regardless, it was flipping awesome!

Will let you know when I get there. I'm playing ultra slow, finding all the secrets and goodies. The only thing I know for sure is that there are three distinct endings (I played them all on my save games) but the choice to ++++++++++ I thought was something that you had to do, but my memory is very hazy... I played this, what, 13 years ago!
My, havn't games evolved graphically and gameplay wise and yet at the same time as a collective whole de-evolved in story telling, depth and progression.
Edit: Yep, looking into it that choice is yours. But apparantly makes absolutlty no difference in the gameplay or outcome. Either way, it doesn't matter. It all felt very important to me, and that I had real power, and that's what counts.

I've only played Invisible War so far, and I never even finished that one, the performance on Xbox was really bad ... but even so I liked it a lot. I'll have to get around to at least trying this one out. Does Invisible War work well with 3D Vision?
