Faulty 3D Vision Glasses
I need help ...

I received my 3D Vision glasses and LCD kit, from the States 3 days ago.

Being a fan of nVidia, I could not wait to unpack the lot, and see the thrill of 3D. I unpacked the lot and started to installed all the drivers, as per the manual.
I went through all the setups and the 3D glasses worked its charm.

Went into some of my games, to test it, as you would !! lol

I noticed that there were still bugs in some of the games (With the standard drivers), so I downloaded the 1.08 driver (over night).

The next day I turned my computer on, and went to install the new drivers (1.08). During the Wizard setup, it asks to turn the glasses on .... Which I attempted to do..... The Glasses would not turn on!!
I put the USB charger into the glasses, thinking the battery may have died.

The light next to the USB port, was amber (Orange).... but the glasses refused to turn on. I tried many different ports on my PC, as well as my Notebook ... still nothing. I tried different cables ... nothing.

I took the glasses to work, to do a full 8 hour charge (Just incase) ... still would not power on. A friend of mine came across a site, where there was a possiblity of the power cords coming off the battery. So I popped the cover off the glasses (Right handside of the frame), only to find that the red cable was not soldered correctly.

So I turned my Soldering iron on (I have done Electronics many times, and I know how to solder), and placed the cord back on to the battery.

now all I get out of the LED (On the top left frame - Next to the power button), is the following flashing lights .....

RED GREEN GREEN, RED GREEN GREEN, then a pause ... and it starts again.

Any ideas?

Regards

Is the emitter hooked up to a usb hub? If so this seems to be a major issues, it doesn't play well with hubs. If that is not the case I woul rma the setup. Sounds like faulty product.

Try using a USB port 'embedded' on the mobo, not USB hubs or even front-panel connectors.

Also Try reading this , it's a post of another user who repaired broken glasses.

I'm not folding glasses bar because I fear to get that red cable disconnected... This aspect of 3D vision could have been better, since glasses' material quality is not excellent.

Thanks for the link.

This was indeed the link I found, which made me open up the glasses myself. The issue I had, was not the connection on the Battery itself, but where the cables went too, from the battery.

So guys .... be careful with opening and closing of the glasses. Not worth the trouble.

My usb was connected to the onboard usb ... and not the hub (Due to power loss through a hub).

I left my glasses on over night ... to drain the battery .... hopefully i can recover the battery.

Just so you guys know ....

The link shows of a guy resoldering the wire back onto the battery. The diagram of the battery, with the wires .... is incorrect. The red wire is meant to be soldered to the middle terminal. If the "so called" Electrician knew anything better.... he would have looked under the terminals. There are 2x ICU's underneath. Soldering it onto the far right terminal will by pass the ICU's ... which will shorten the battery life even quicker.

Just thought i would throw that in there.

Regards.

Dear David,

I left the glasses running till they drained completly ... so nothing was working at all.
I then recharged them (Using a different USB port) for over 12 hours. When I plugged the usb in ... it now has a Red Green Green, Red Green Red error light (Next to the power button). The amber light is displayed next to the USB when plugged in.

When I finished charging it over night ... I unplugged and the lights would still go in the sequence mentioned above. pressed the power button, and now the lights do not show.

I have ordered a new pair of glasses, and was wondering for the new pair..... how do you turn them on and/or off. do you hold down the power button?

Look forward to your reply.

Hi,
Thanks for updating me. As long as the orange light(indicating that its still charging) goes out, it means its fully charged. If its still not functioning after charging. You may want to return it to the store since its still under 30 days and get a new one(sounds like you've done it). The battery on glasses is probably defective.

To turn on the glasses on, just push the power button once.

I hope that helps. Let me know if you still have any questions or concerns. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Best regards,
David
