If it's an OC issue, then one of the strangest ones. Because my CPU is also with OC, but I have no problems while using a monitor as I stated before. So "4K TV + OC" combination is problematic, I'm starting to hate this Frostbite3 engine more and more.

@ DHR: I haven't been able to test other games yet since installing the new GPU. But I DO know that stuttering in Payback is a known issue, and I haven't seen a definitive solution yet anywhere. I have seen some suggesting to disable Windows Game Mode, or Game Bar - whatever it's called, so I'm going to try that and see if anything changes.
@ 'lacuna': I'm using a monitor, not a 4K TV, so the problem may not be display related.

Then only thing comes to my mind is connection type, but probably it has no effect on the issue. Hope you can identify the cause and fix it, good luck.

In my case i play in a 3DTV without a problem....also no sutter...my OS is win7.
is a very strange issue...
i always disable my OC when i play Frostbite3 engine games, a couple of time i encounter issues when is enabled...that's why the recomendation/test.
Also try to not use scaling ingame settings or in NVCP.....also i always use Vsync in NVCP = enable....and in game disable....i'm out of more ideas.
Okay an update on the stuttering issue: Fixed. The problem turned out to be Ambient Occlusion. After installing the new 1080, the first thing I did, (which seemed like a natural thing to do), is max the game settings. After experiencing stuttering issues, I started tweaking things, but I guess I overlooked AAO. Changing the setting to HBAO fixes the stuttering. Fortunately it looks better as well. AAO makes the ground too bright underneath the cars and doesn't look realistic. HBAO looks much better. I'm now getting the same fps (50-60 in city, 90-100 in the desert) but without the stuttering.

Just a quick heads-up:
You can get Need for Speed Payback very cheap currently (just £14,99 // 16,82 EUR):

Ok so, here some news, I've finished all my Telltales games in 3D (All Batmans and Guardians), with the only old driver working for me (397.93) ---> Story <---, but still can not play NFS PayBack, fix wasn't working correctly. Now I played BF5 Beta so I've had to use brand new driver (399.07), I've tried NFSPB again with it but no success... (I've redownloaded the fix on HelixMod to be sure.)
The FrostBite 3 Universal fix, works better, but it's still not perfect.

.... And also the stuttering is back. I thought changing the AAO settings fixed it, but it was a fluke that wasn't consistent. The only thing consistent is stuttering - very similar to trying to run a game in SLI that doesn't have a profile. Only in this case, I'm using a single GPU. It seems to be a specific problem with 1080's, as I've seen the same issue in videos of the game on YouTube and happen to know the producers have the same card.

Ok I'm back with news, 3D wasn't working for me on NFS Payback for some times now, but it is now, using the fix for the game on HelixMod !
Same hardware, no OS reinstall... Same very old W7 SP1 (not updated), with driver 419.17 and SLi is still On.
Here what I've done:
In Nvidia Control Panel
Global settings
Aniso = x16
Synch = On
Max pre frames = 1
Works fine, can't explain my trouble, still don't have the DHR Universal green overlay, only Not rated yet has usually for me.
Hope it helps some.
Thanks DHR for the job !
.
With others games....do you see issues??
