Steam just downloaded an update for this game today. As documented in the patch notes:

it looks great but the crosshair range is unnecessarily limited.
for instance, if you aim at something that has negative parallax it stays mono.
ctrl + ~ to bring down the console
r_draw_weapon 0
r_stereo_convergence 2
also, capping fps to 59 with nvidia frame limiter helps to cut down on the input lag.

Yes, you definitely need to increase convergence (with all games) and the r_draw_weapon "0" command is great. Thanks
I just put it in the config file instead of running the command each time through console
