AVATAR movie, 3D vision trailer would be a Great demo!
2 / 2
Still no stereoscopic trailer of Avatar !!!
I just can't believe why NVidia is missing such a huge opportunity ?! And I'm not only talking as a big fan of Sci-Fi, Cameron films, stereoscopy, etc, who is looking every f**ing day for stereoscopic content and media... let's see that from an economic point of view.
First, it would be the best way ever to thank the early customers of 3D Vision, who all are high tech and 3D enthousiastics, and who are playing an important role for the diffusion of this product : I'm sure all of you guys who have bought this glasses, are showing your friends and family how cool this is ! I'm sure I convieced some of my friends to buy 3D vision, and even my boss at work bought 4 pairs of glasses and a 120Hz screen to show virtual products to our customers in a modern and impressive way. So give me a stereoscopic trailer of Avatar, and I will make 20 people buy 3D vision !
Second, why don't you guys at NVidia have an agreement for trailers with studios releasing stereoscopic movies, like Apple does with standard trailers ???
Come on ! You want to be the first on the 3D Market, you want the leadership, you've chosen the shutterglasses technology so that you can sell your product not only to any PC owner, but even to PS3, Xbox360 and Wii owner. 2009 is undoubtly the starting year of stereo 3D for movies, so why the hell can't we find stereoscopic trailers ??? I know that concerning entire movies, studios first have to agree on a 3D Blueray standard, and technology, but trailers are an Internet stuff ! Make 3D trailers available, and people will try to find how to play and see them ! Even youtube.com is on the edge, allowing users to upload anaglyph content, and supporting different 3D stereoscopic formats.
I'm sure it's not a matter of standards and technology, every owner of 3D Vision knows that a simple Side-by-Side or Upper-Lower avi file plays perfectly well in NVidia stereoscopic player.
So it may only be a matter of rights, laws, patents... or any of that kind of administrative bullcrap.
So please, please, do something know, it's the right time, christmas is coming soon, fans all around the world are incredibly excited, Avatar video game which has been developped specially for stereoscopic playing will be launched soon, so you want to sell 3D vision glasses or what ???
Talk with Fox studios, find an agreement, and offer your early 3D Vision customers a HD side-by-side trailer of Avatar (and other 3D films), and I'm pretty sure it will have a significant impact on your worldwide sells.

Have you ever dealt with any Hollywood Studio? I have worked at one (Universal) and let me assure you that it is close to impossible to even get trailers, etc without very costly licenses.
A studio would not see a 3D trailer for Nvidia as win/win, since for example Panasonic is sponsoring 3D equipment for Fox and Cameron. Panasonic is launching their own 3D televisions and glasses, so you can be sure that they would protest at any 'competitor' getting a trailer. Sony is launching a system, too.
I would love a 3D Avatar trailer, but we will not see one.
Blame Hollywood, but not Nvidia.

You're definitely true. That was not my purpose, I was just wondering why Nvidia's commercial strategy didn't include agreement with studios releasing 3D movies, that could boost the audience interest in 3D vision technology.
Also I knew that Panasonic and SONY (and many others...) were about to sell 3D LCD TV, but I didn't know they were developping their own 3D glasses (well I could have guessed :-) )
That's why I was talking about NVidia leadership in home stereoscopic technologies...
Actually, the best solution would be that the studios release side-by-side trailers "for people equiped with appropriate hardware" = for 3D geeks.
Come on Fox, it's worth doing it !

I asked Ubisoft if they'd release a 3D trailer for the game at least, they said they wanted examples. I sent them the ones from the nVidia Vision video section of the site. He said they'd try to get something awesome for us. Then... they released the demo instead which was much better anyways. I am assuming they probably won't be releasing a 3D trailer any longer. I'd love a 3D trailer from the movie though... man. :(

We will start to see these like crazy by the end of next year I would assume/hope due to Sony/Panny holding out for Avatar's release to publicly advertise their consumer 3D sets and 3D BluRay
