Thief 1/2 and System Shock 2: perfect 3D
  3 / 3
System Shock 2, on sale at Bundle Stars for $3, plus another 7 games you might want. http://www.bundlestars.com/all-bundles/all-stars-bundle/ I'm running SS2 at present, using the tips in this guide, and it still works flawlessly in 3D. There are also a stack of mods you can run to bump up the quality. It's got that old school difficulty level too, and absolutely no noob-shine, which is refreshing.

Unfortunately, IZ3d doesn't work in windows 10. At least I haven't been able to get this to work. If anybody has been able to make this work in windows 10 I'd love to hear how.

I am still using windows 7 and will continue to use windows 7 for the next several years. But please let us know which OS can use the iZ3D driver and which can not. There are so many excellent Thief 2 fan missions to play. I do update my list of "only the best" Thief missions. If the mission is less than outstanding, it is not added to the list. Why won't 3d work in 3dvision without IZ3d if the new versions of these games are DX9? Why are these games such a pain in the ass to get working in 3d? Do I seriously need to revert back to windows 7 to play them in 3d?

I tried a ton of stuff to get the d3d9 version to render in 3D, I even tried a way eqzitara had mentioned to force it to... nothing I've tried will get it out of mono. I know sometimes Post-Processing Effects can do this, like in Dark Sector, but I couldn't find any settings in the ini files to enable/disable that would do it and when I tried using HelixMod with it, there weren't any Shaders, cycle-able, dumped, or otherwise. Anyway, I was able to get it working using TFix(Lite but either version should work), dgVoodoo(2.53) and a tweaked Profile(below)... it's not hard to do, I'll try to explain it. *update guide in my next post*

Just installed Thief Gold to find that iZ3D doesn't work on Windows 10. How depressing.

Like I said I tried a ton of stuff to get the DX9 version to work and even tried some more... I'm also looking into SS2(almost perfect/HUD in one eye), anyway after a bunch of tinkering I was able to isolate what was causing that white texture issue... it's a memory issue with dgVoodoo, fortunately it's as simple as upping the default memory. It also appears like if LAA isn't applied when the HD Mod is installed it will cause crashing, could also be another memory issue... @fish99 This should work on Win10, if not let me know and I can try to look into it using Discovery Mode on my Win10 PC... ===================================================================================================== Thief Gold 3D Vision Guide ===================================================================================================== [olist] [.]TFix(link):
[.]Install TFix[/.]
[/.] [.]dgVoodoo(link):
[.]Unzip/Open and Copy D3DImm.dll & DDraw.dll from the MS Folder over to your Thief Gold Install[/.][.]In order to install the Thief Gold HD Mod you must Run dgVoodooSetup, Increase VRAM(256+) on the DirectX Tab and Save it either Globally or Locally[/.]
[/.] [.]Edit CFG Files:
[.]Force it to use DX6 by editing the following lines in your cam_ext.cfg from:
; enable Direct3D 9 based display system (instead of the legacy DirectX 6 one) use_d3d_display
to:
; enable Direct3D 9 based display system (instead of the legacy DirectX 6 one) ; use_d3d_display
[/.]
[/.] [.]Edit/Replace Profile Using GeForce 3D Profile Manager(link):
[.]Export NVIDIA Profiles.txt[/.][.]Edit/Replace the Thief Gold Profile with the following Profile
Profile "Thief Gold" ShowOn GeForce ProfileType Application Executable "thief.exe" Setting ID_0x701eb457 = 0x2241ab21 InternalSettingFlag=V0 // StereoProfile SettingString ID_0x7051e5f5 = "1" // Compat Setting ID_0x707f4b45 = 0x00000000 UserSpecified=true // StereoMemoEnabled Setting ID_0x708db8c5 = 0x3fc9dd94 UserSpecified=true // StereoConvergence Setting ID_0x70edb381 = 0x2420894e InternalSettingFlag=V0 // StereoTextureEnable EndProfile
[/.] [.]Import NVIDIA Profile.txt[/.]
[/.][.]Enjoy! :)[/.][/olist] *Note:If you're using GeForce Experience(or if you get an Import ERROR) you may have to delete your nvdrssel.bin, otherwise GeForce 3D Profile Manager may not Export/Import the NVIDIA Profiles.txt correctly. Setting ID_0x70edb381 = 0x2420894e InternalSettingFlag=V0 // StereoTextureEnable
      EndProfile

    • Import NVIDIA Profile.txt
  5. Enjoy! :)
