Similarly, I'm making a little platformer this year, and have hardly played any games as a result.
It had better work in 3d :)
hehe - it'd be sad it if didn't! When the time comes, I'll probably try and get some tech help from some of the people here to help me figure out how/if it's possible. The software I'm using is primarily 2D-based, though it uses DirectX9 for hardware acceleration, so I'm hopeful.

I definitelly agree that hard work deserves a fair reward. Not the most popular opinion on this forum. I've done my share of hard work and have recieved quite a bit of reward. Money can introduces obligation. Being unemployed for the forseeable future due to sickness I guess work and hobby get's tangled up.
Money can introduces obligation.
Yep. That's why paid things are generally higher quality than free things. That's also the reason why most of your fellow modders don't want to take money: they don't want the obligation. I can't say I blame them. Oh well, if you play your cards right, that means more money for you, since the others don't want it.
I definitelly agree that hard work deserves a fair reward. Not the most popular opinion on this forum.
I think it's up to individual modders, whether or not they want to accept donations. For some it can be a burden, for others it can offer incentive or needed support. Both positions are perfectly reasonable I think, it just depends on what you as individuals want. Note that this thread was addressed to people who had either said no to donations before, or whose position on this issue we didn't know. We already knew that you accept donations, so we don't need to "convince" you with a thread. Also, giving the timing of this thread, I'm sure it was mostly meant to address to Mike_ar69 and bo3b's recent Assassin's Creed fixes. I haven't personally donated to you yet Flugan, but I certainly will if/when you make a fix for a game that I play. I'm sure plenty of others will do the same. Please keep us updated on your works!

I understand your position but I would be totally unable to both code the 3D hook dll and fix a game. They are completely different skillsets. I'm happy over bo3b and mike working together they have done alot within a short period of time.

Then I guess just try and keep the community updated with what work you've been doing. If you've made some valuable contributions to 3dmigoto on the back end that help mike or bo3b fix a game, then let people know. I have to admit, I'm a bit confused as to who is working on what at the moment, and how it ties in together. For example, in your latest thread about Project Flugan, you seem to write that you've achieved nothing with it, and probably never will, because it's a hook not a wrapper. I don't think many people will read that and feel compelled to donate. The way you've described it just makes it sound like a dead end.

Would it be possible to have a simple website which shows who is working on what and the estimated fix date? It would be advantageous from a gamers perspective as they can see if and when their game interest will be fixed, and if to wait or not. It would be advantageous from the "fixer"'s perspective as one can see what is being worked on so 2 people don't waste time working on the same thing, and then have bad blood when one releases their fix first meaning the time of the other person has been wasted (it has happened). Also, if 2 people are aware of each other, they may combine their resources. This would also mean that everyone can see who has contributed what. It just seems like a logical next step. @Flugan: You may have a better result keeping to one thread and posting there, where people have a better chance of seeing what you have accomplished. Maybe even amend your first post with an update of all that you have accomplished? It might "motivate" people to "motivate" you :)

I wonder if Helix would mind (and if others would agree) to a new section on the blog for such a list. Does seem like a helpful idea. Re: Flugan, I agree. A single thread with updates is much better than a new thread every few weeks.
