Noob trying to install 3d vision without updating to the 285 series drivers
Hello I am trying to get 3D vision up and running but i wanted to ask a few questions before proceeding. I current system is as follows:
1)windows 7 64 bit
2)GPU MSI 560 TI hawk
3)Current Driver 275.33

My question is can I install all of the 3D drivers without messing with the 275.33 driver?

I have read that the new 285 series drivers have major problems and 275.33 seems to be working fine during 2d gamimg it seems all i need is the 3d Vision controller driver, 3d video player, and 3D picture driver to get going.
However not sure what I need or even if it can been done without unistalling the 275.33 driver first.

I was thinking all I needed was this the driver below without unistalling the 275.33 driver first
is that possible?

If the 266.66 drivers are the ones included with your 3D Kit, then there is no longer any need to install the "CD drivers" any more. You should be able to just plug in your 3D Vision USB emitter, then enable Stereoscopic 3D in the Nvidia Control Panel. At the very most, you may need to reinstall the 275.33 driver to recognize and install the USB stereo drivers. After R260 or so, the GeForce driver downloads now include everything you need for 3D Vision driver updates (3D Vision profile and USB driver), so you no longer need the "CD driver" kit.

Keep in mind though, you will need to update your drivers eventually to get the updated game profile support for both 2D and 3D, but if you don't have any problems with older/current games and want to avoid potential problems with the newer drivers you should be fine with 275.33. The 285 drivers and newer offer improved support for big games like BF3 and Batman Arkham City though, so they are going to be hard ones to skip for a lot of people.

Hey thanks for the quick reply.

Couple of other things.

When I originally installed the drivers that came with my card I opted not to install the 3D Driver at the time of install I think they were 264.XX drivers. So Later I updated using the MSI software to update the display driver to the 275.33. I do not believed it installed the 3D drivers when it updated. I am assuming they should have been based on what you said about everything is all ready included in 270 and up drivers but when I go to Nvidia control panel there is not an option for stereoscopic 3D set up. I am confused. (Which is not hard to do but i am trying to learn :) When I plugged in the IR emitter it said installing driver then it failed I thought maybe it had to be plugged in to get those options to show up. NOt sure if I just need to remove all nvidia drivers then reinstall the 275.33 drivers which should have everything I need.

Yeah if you did a custom install before and did not install any of the 3D components, you will need to install them again. I would just grab the 275.33 from Nvidia's site and install them over your current installation rather than uninstall then install. If you're really worried, just choose custom installation and choose "clean install".

ok I installed 275.33 driver and That worked getting the right drivers I went through the setup process and got an error message that there was an error in stereo driver. Howevere I clicked OK and went own I did the test application and it worked great crisp 3D .Continued on and did the triangle octagon test and medical test everything was fine. Launched mafia 2 and well I was seeing 2 images not sure what is going on.
