I think I am having the same issue but I dont know what happened or how my data got corrupt. The projector has been working fine for the last few weeks since I got it, but today it freaked out. I'm not sure what happened exactly... But I ended up in a state where the computer will not boot if the projector is connected. I have an HDMI pushbutton switch I use to go between my desktop monitor and the projector. What I'm seeing now is that if the desktop monitor is connected the PC will boot and I can switch to the projector once its running - but it comes up as a generic 'digital display' instead of properly identifying itself. Although I can add resolutions and setup 1280x720@120 the nvidia 3D stuff does not want to cooperate.

If I re-run the 3D Vision Setup Wizard it does detect the projector okay but the actual test and applications do not run properly.

I tried lots of different cable options and connecting directly (without the switch) but nothing makes any difference - and nothing as far as setup or cables changed between when it was working and now. I eventually tried with another PC and got exactly the same behavior. Since the PC fails to boot or post properly when the projector is connected I'm pretty sure its not a software/driver issue. And on the other machines that run XP as soon as I switch to the projector I get the display up and then the machine crashes. Its only on Windows 7 64 that I can successfully switch to the projector once the computer is running.

I followed the instructions in the thread above and sent danevito a PM with links to the dat and raw files I got out of my registry with the Phoenix application.

I do have Powerstrip and it is registered but the 3.87 version wants a PIN number to access the Update EDID feature. I've emailed the EnTech support folk for a PIN and I guess I'll have to wait for a response to see if it works.

On the one hand I'm really bummed that this has happened. But if the EDID is indeed the problem, and this ends up working I'll be super happy!

I got my PIN for Powerstrip. But when I try to access the Update EDID feature I get an error (the same error is presented when either my desktop monitor or the projector is connected):

An EDID EEPROM was not detected on the selected monitor. Do you want to scan the bus for other EDID EEPROMs? Yes/No

Either way it does not let me progress.
Clicking Yes reports: An EDID EEPROM was not found.
Clicking No just dismisses the dialog box.

------------ SUCCESS!!!! --------------

I tried a few other combinations and found that if I plugged the monitor/projector switch into my secondary video card which is an older 8600 GT instead of my primary GTX 280 it would do the update.

Powerstrip identified that the data looked corrupt and offered to try and fix it, which I let it do - and IT WORKED!

Now when I boot the computer recognizes the projector right away and 3D works again.

The power of information on the internet is awesome. Thank you danevito for posting and providing the links to the tools and other forum thread.

Great News

I might try and solve my problem tomorrow, just havent had enough time jet. But if you got it to work I feel confident I will too since we have exact same issues.

I have a GTX470 now, do you think I need to change back to my old 8-series card like you did to get it working? Luckly I can do it If its necessary

it seems I have the exact same problem as you guys had (the Acer worked just fine for months...then, all of a sudden it wasn't detected anymore by my PC. Even my PS3 won't be displayed anymore BUT my Xbox360 still does !???).

Now I just don't know how to update the Acer's EDID via Powerstrip because my Acer isn't detected anymore by my PC.

How can I fix this? I downloaded Powerstrip (although I don't have any idea how to use it by now) and I also downloaded the EDID-file that tritosine provided above. Now what should be the next step? My PC only detects the Samsung 2233rz that is also connected to my PC. Powerstrip also detects only the Samsung 2233rz. I am really in need of help!

ok, I just unplugged my Samsung 2233rz and now the Acer is detected as a "generic digital display". I can only choose between 3 resolution types and I also can't choose 120Hz. Instead it tells me it would run now in 59Hz!?

At this state, what do I have to do? Would it be possible now to update the EDID via the EDID that tritosine provided? If yes how can it be done exactely? Please help!

yeah now you are getting somewhere. That inf provided is not EDID, its a driver , you have to replace the generic driver with it as per other comments say. If 120hz does something funny, let me know.

You shouldnt replace the EDID inside the pj, actually I Can't do it , and you dont want to mess with your monitor , if it gets a bad EDID somehow .

This is a problem that requires you to either send the projector in for service or perform a potentially dangerous process yourself.

Read the instructions in the hard forum link in the first post above. If that is confusing or you are not comfortable with the process contact Acer and arrange to send it in.

What is required is the EDID file for the projector. You may be able to retrieve it yourself with the Phoenix tools from your registry. Or others on the forum may be willing to share theirs with you if you can't get it from your pc.

Once you have the data file you need to have a current version of the Powerstrip program, have it registered, and have a PIN code to allow you to use the Update EDID function. The powerstrip support people will give you a pin for your pc but you need to tell them what you are doing and why you need it.

With the data file and powerstrip you use the Update EDID option to write the data back into the projector.

This is an advanced operation that is not recommended for most users. For me, the projector was already not working and I felt like I had a good enough understanding of what was going on to try it, and was able to get it to work. Your mileage may vary.

Problem: After updating the drivers for my GTX480 the H5360 was only recognised as a bog standard monitor. This meant that 3D vision would not consider it as a compatible device.

After scanning around the web, I've noticed that many people are having similar issues and are having to either restore their EDID on the projector itself, RMA the projector or some other workaround.

Solution: This is my workaround as I'm not totally convinced that the EDID is corrupted.

(This should all make sense if you're having the same problem as me).

Basically, when you manually select 3d vision mode on the projector itself the projector is recognised as a 3d vision device in the nvidia control panel... but only for a short while. So, in this short time period you need to apply 1280x720 @120hz as your resolution and then enable 3d vision in the drivers (selecting h5360 dlp... not 3d vision discover).
Thats it. You should then be good to go.

If this doesn't work for you then its possible that there may be other issues hindering you, but hopefully this will help someone as I was getting extremely peeved at one point!!

It looks like my Acer H5360 EDID got corrupt. It is no longer being recognized as a Acer H5360 anymore. Instead it is listed as generic non-PnP monitor and shows only few resolution options. I guess I need to update EDID on it. Fortunately I got an EDID file for this projector from the windows registry using Phoenix 1.3.

Do i need an older graphics card to update EDID? I have a GTX 260 and GTX 480. Does Powerstrip support any of these? I want to make sure before I pay them for the license.

EDIT: Is it possible for someone to send me an EDID file to compare? I want to make sure that I have correct EDID file before updating to the projector.
