I haven't used reshade myself.
I do know that SweetFX required it's DLL to be renamed in a few games via reports in these forums. If I recall correctly, Skyrim was one of them.
There was a poster that was having trouble with reshade and Alien Isolation. You'll have to read the thread as well as the Steam forum link. In the Steam forum there were issues using reshade for people in 2D. In other words, people not even using 3DMigoto were having problems.
bo3b instructed this poster to use an older version of 3DMigoto, which fixed his problem?
Is this a version regression? I've no idea, I've yet to ever play Alien Isolation or Elite Dangerous.
bo3b posted the solution so he's aware of whatever, if there's anything to be aware of. If that makes sense.
I just threw this out there to richydemars, because it's the only other post that I know of that's been posted concerning reshade.

ok, thanks for clearing that up. I don't use reshade myself so while I won't intentionally try to break it in 3DMigoto, I also won't notice if I do by accident.

I have a 3DTV and use 3DTV Play for 3DVision. I bought into early alpha in order to try and encourage early development support for 3DVision (Did the same with pCars... at least I got my money back plus 70% so far with this investment). The developer's did the usual promise the world when it comes to 3D, deliver nothing of the sorts. The native 3D in ED was crap really and gave no regard for convergence (just depth).
Anyway, here we are today. I have to say, their native SBS 3D is amazing!. Its perfect. Everything works including bloom, shadows etc. it even has some adjustable convergence. Just goes to show that even when a title has its own perfect 3D rendering, 3DVision function is not guaranteed. I use the native 3D with trackIR. Amazing stuff. Very immersive.

There are two things that you can try to get reshade to play nice.
1. rename and proxy the dll http://helixmod.blogspot.com/2012/08/guidehow-to-install-helixmod-game-fixes.html

Also if you can get 1920x2160, you might add one or two rows of pixels and get 3D to kick in via Nvidia's stereo header file. You'll need to Google it, I can't remember the details.
Hmmm
I don't think it is working.
Though, with respect, I have to say I disagree with your premise that you need reshade and the like especially in 3D. I mean, I think that's the wrong way round, surely? Don't you need more of the visual cues in 2D, than in 3D?
I think it is more pertinent to have the visual cues in 2D but less so in 3D. This is just a personal observation but for aliasing I must have AA on when playing 2D. AA must be set high too because I really notice the jaggies in 2D. I think this is because the edges are required to define where one object ends and one begins. In 3D, this is less of an issue because we have 3D defining the edges. The jaggies just look ugly.
Same with shadows. I remember playing Oblivion in 3D and having to turn shadows off. (Before Helix.) Gutted about shadows but I got used to it. Switched to 2D and without the shadows the objects look like they were floating! I thought it was really hard to judge scale.
But in ED? ED is not set in a wooded glade, thus requiring shadows. I reckon the most common scenario in ED is in the stations, in space, mining and docking. For each of these shadows off and shadows on are practically identical! You have to rotate your ship to get the sun to cast shadows. Even with Shadows off everything adjusts to the light. Here are some 2D shots comparing shadows off and on. You can spot the difference but you have to really look for it
https://s3.amazonaws.com/andysonofbob/ShadowsComparison.zip
On planets surfaces, you will notice the difference but only in twilight or in obvious sunlight, which isn't all that common in my experience because many planets are deep in the system. Night time, even with the ship's lights on, there is very little difference between shadows on and off.
I have seen YouTube clips of Reshade etc. and I am not sure what the big deal is!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zNqfzUEAV1k
To each their own, right? But compared to 2D vs 3D? Come on! :)

@andysonofbob
huge difference ! not for AA (you're right about aliasing in 3D) but for Sharpness (and HDR and Bloom), especially with DSR (and projector) ,which tends to make textures more blurry . I put extreme values like :
#define sharp_strength 2.9
#define sharp_clamp 0.2
to get the most impressive results , and with that , objects are much much less flat .
For Shadows, i disagree too , it contributes to the depth and dynamics of the picture , even in ED , which is not a very impressive game generally ; but good for the moment, as you have not found the solution and that a Shader master as DSS cannot help you anymore , just waiting a better day ... :)
I also tried the 3d side by side and even in 4K, 3D vision 1440p is above ;)

With 32 bits version of ED , no problem at all , it works even with sweetfx 1.5 but i see you stopped working on this version . So, I'll just going to what is, and take to my account your signature :)

Mate!
I think you just need to swap the shaderfixes folder!
The switch to 64 bits only borked the starfield shaders. All the other shaders are the same.
Download both versions. Install the 32 bit version. Then copy and replace the newer 64bit shaderfixes folder over the older 32 bit shaderfixes folder. (Hopefully the 4-6 starfield shaders should still be in there...)
I will have a look tonight. :)

great ! i'll do that right now !
EDIT : Sir ! you know what ? You're a genius ! IT WORKS !!! :))
Just a not about tweaking nebula : df226b8076adab82-vs_replace acts on the milky way , but fb66e38457882d4f-vs_replace do nothing : I wanted it to act on the stars to put them deeper . It's just a detail .
Well , my friend, you know what are you to do so that your fix is classified "3D Ready" : Shad...*SPOILED* ;)

Well , my friend, you know what are you to do so that your fix is classified "3D Ready" : Shad...*SPOILED* ;)
There are two shaders for the nebula but it depends on where you are in the galaxy as to which nebula it uses; that's why only one seems to change anything. Obviously make sure the other shader is set the same as the first.
Pushing the starfield depths is identical to fixing the nebula. I have written a description at the top of each shaders describing what they are for. Just open them all up in Notepad ++. Close any that don't say something like
//Starfield
at the top.
You can can then change the multiplier. Making the number bigger makes the stars go deeper. It's a right pain in the nuts especially when you are juggling nebula AND starfield.
This is what I would do. Put in the editing d3dx.ini.
Find the starfield and nebula for where you are. By doing the following:
//Galactic Center StarField
//
//Mate - scroll to the bottom
// Hello! The bit just above is what you are looking for.
// Turn the bit above to the following: add // to the following three lines:
//float4 st = StereoParams.Load(0);
//float separation = st.x; float convergence = st.y;
//o6.x += separation * 1.2;
Press F10 to reload the shader. It should high pitch beep. If your stars become very shallow you have found the shader. :)
Once you have found the shader, go back to the code and do the following:
// Change the multiplier (1.2) by teeny amounts e.g.
// add 0.05 to make say: o6.x += separation * 1.25;

so , i've just tweaked the starfield to my taste and i understand now why i was not impressed with your settings by the 3D effect . here my settings :
o6.x += separation * 2.9
yes 2.9 (!) and not 1.2 .
But now planets asteroids etc ..are way too flat . So i try to do the same for a file called (//Main standard planet too close)and i found this settings :
// Move planet further to depth.
float4 st = StereoParams.Load(0);
float separation = st.x;
float convergence = st.y;
float4 params = IniParams.Load(0);
if (params.w > 0)
//if (params.w < 1.0)
{
09.x += separation * 210000;
but no effect after tweaking "09.x += separation * 210000" (pushing F10 key of course) .
But now I know how I should make the space of ED much more immersive : multiply at least by three all depth settings of the objects (even in station i think) but I don't know where they are .

You depth junky! It is all relative, the old depth perception shizzle. I noticed the same thing which is why I went for the settings the way I did.
It sounds like you want to wack up depth on everything! You might want to see if you can find that increase 100% depth wassname file!

You might find cranking the general depth up and tweaking convergence does what you want! Might save you alot of grief...
Massive objects like planets and stars need BIG numbers! Like putting another zero or two at the end.
Also, now we know we can use reshades if we use 32 bit, I am curious to try one, one that works! I will dl 32 bit steam version. It would be awesome if you would recommend one to me please?

OK i will try this depth hack proposed by RAGEdemon because it seems too long and it's not working for the planet as it is for nebula (the F10 sound seems different also) .
I'm using sweetfx 1.5 (not reshade) right now but as you're not using DSR in a projo , but a monitor , my settings will be too excessive for you ;
Look at these Sharpness (!) :
/*-----------------------------------------------------------.
/ LumaSharpen settings /
'-----------------------------------------------------------*/
// -- Sharpening --
#define sharp_strength 2.9 //[0.10 to 3.00] Strength of the sharpening
#define sharp_clamp 0.08 //[0.000 to 1.000] Limits maximum amount of sharpening a pixel recieves - Default is 0.035
// -- Advanced sharpening settings --
#define pattern 3 //[1|2|3|4] Choose a sample pattern. 1 = Fast, 2 = Normal, 3 = Wider, 4 = Pyramid shaped.
#define offset_bias 1.5 //[0.0 to 6.0] Offset bias adjusts the radius of the sampling pattern.
is it possible to use this depth hack only for one game (ED) or is it a total permanent change ?
EDIT : not good at all this tool ! It messed up settings of all my games and in ED , everything stay flat in front of the starfield as if they were in 2D . i must use the old method with shaders to succeed .
Now i don't know how to revert back to normal setting for depth apart reinstall my drivers .

Very immersive.
not working :
the only one working is sweetfx boulotaur2024's version indeed and, fortunately !... because it's day and night with sharpness hdr and dpx. Moreover, I wonder how one manage to do without Reshade (sweetfx) in all 3D games , like DarkStarSword , especially with DSR making textures even more blurred . Tweaking the fine spot in Reshade give me 30% of the immersion and pleasure of a game .
i will see this more in depth this week end ; i have a lot to learn about resolution and 3d projo .
i google something here (in french ) :http://www.hdfever.fr/2011/10/20/dossier-guide-tutoriels-la-video-3d/ but this relates only to the video player .
I have not tried yet 3840 x 1080 in nvidia panel ; perhaps it will do the trick .
Thx

I have just reinstalled a reshade. It 'seems' to be working for me. I could be wrong though...
Here is the dxgi.log if it will help shed some light:
I get some delays but they then seem to get installed?
I am using W7

I see that you're not using steam folder , perhaps this is the difference (i disable the steam overlay yet) .
I hope i will find a solution for side by side in 3840x1080 resolution , because 3d vision without reshade and shadows ... :/

To each their own, right? But compared to 2D vs 3D? Come on! :)

huge difference ! not for AA (you're right about aliasing in 3D) but for Sharpness (and HDR and Bloom), especially with DSR (and projector) ,which tends to make textures more blurry . I put extreme values like :
to get the most impressive results , and with that , objects are much much less flat .

I think you just need to swap the shaderfixes folder!
The switch to 64 bits only borked the starfield shaders. All the other shaders are the same.
Download both versions. Install the 32 bit version. Then copy and replace the newer 64bit shaderfixes folder over the older 32 bit shaderfixes folder. (Hopefully the 4-6 starfield shaders should still be in there...)
I will have a look tonight. :)

Close any that don't say something like
Press F10 to reload the shader. It should high pitch beep. If your stars become very shallow you have found the shader. :)
Once you have found the shader, go back to the code and do the following:
F10 to reload.
Tweak until you are happy with depth.
Then copy the values to the partner shaders.
Then do the same for the nebula.
SET CONVERGENCE TO HOW YOU LIKE IT FIRST and lock it by pressing Ctrl + F7.
