There is very little to none ghosting (crosstalk) in plasmas, worst in current LCD/LEDs.
You probably mean the plasma IR (temporary image burn/retention) where you can see 'ghosts' of some static logos/menus/hud elements you watched earlier. You can 'wash' them out.
Most plasmas also buzzes. some more some less. So it might be a show stopper in some cases.
But for me the best for 3D TV this year is plasma. Too much crosstalk in this years lcd/leds. You can also tilt your head with 3D glasses and the image stays the same.
If plasmas supported 1080p @ 60hz 3D, I'd say they are the best 3D TV to buy. But since they are too stuck at 720p just like LED/LCDs...for anything other than bluray playback... I think DLP projector or Mitsubishi DLP is still the best 3D quality and cheapest way to go for huge screen.
If one is to use the 3D TV for gaming only, they may as well get this 720p plasma described in the OP and save money. 50 inch 720p and 50 inch 1080p plasmas all do 720p only when gaming.
