How to record games in 3D? recording video game movies in 3D
Hello, just as the topic says. How do I record video games in 3D in either anaglyph or page-flipping (ie for shutterglasses). Page-flipping would be better, but I will take what I can get.
Could anyone tell me what pieces of software can do this or am I just doing wishful thinking? Thanks in advance!!!!

I believe I found a way around the recording problem, but it needs alot of equiptment.
[b]First step:[/b] "clone" your computer to a VCR or TV of some sort.
[b]Second Step:[/b] Hook up a MiniDV or higher quality video recorder in the composite/S-Video output ports on either the TV or VCR.
[b]Third Step:[/b] Play the game and record to tape.
[b]Fourth Step:[/b] Import through Firewire 400/800 in Premiere Pro 2 or Final Cut Pro/Express to edit the footage.
[b]Fifth Step:[/b] Perfect captured stereo 3D footage ready for editing and sending.
NOTE: You don't have to use a MiniDV recorder, you can use a VCR to record your footage, but the quality won't be as good. If you use that method, you will need a way to hook up your VCR to your computer to get the footage off of it. A solution to this is to buy a ConvertX capture box which is a composite/S-Video to USB connector that records the raw uncompressed VHS tapes to your computer's hard drive.

You could use seperate outputs and record with digital equipment. It would have to be frame timing perfect. Convert each channel to avi format and play using software.
There used to be stereoscopic software a long time ago which worked with Win3D.
The current stereoscopic player has great functionality and doesn't require Win3D, but I'm not sure if it lets you play page flipped video from 2 video sources.

Ok, I have completed my UT2004 3D Anaglyph movie and it turned out great.
To make the film, I "cloned" the computer to my VCR deck and then used a MiniDV camcorder to record the footage. After all the shooting was done, I firewired it back into my computer for editing. To get around the quality issue, I used a Premiere Pro 2 plugin called "InstantHD" which can convert your DV footage to HD format and even clean up the quality. From there, it is just editing and rendering.
That is how I made the movie. I should have a web version up sometime, but I have been getting laid back since I am on break from college.
