Problem with 120hz mod
  1 / 3
Hello!

So i just bought a 120hz screen (alienware optx aw2310) with the 3d vision kit.
The 3d works fine, but when i'm in 120hz mod, everything becomes "ugly", every text becomes pixelated, i can barely read.

Need a little help here /bloated.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':X' />

Hm, pixelated? On Windows-Desktop or in a 3D-game? Can you describe this a bit more? Or make a screenshot/photo?
Maybe you got a wrong resolution. Are you sure you have selected the native resolution(1920x1080)?

It's pixelated in both. On desktop it's just the text, and ingame it's textures mainly.

The problem probably comes from the 120hz, if i turn off 3d, it's still pixelated when in 120hz mod.

I can't screenshot, because it's a display problem, if i take a screenshot and then switch to 60hz i will see it normally.

And yes i'm in native resolution.

If I had to judge, I would say it looks like a bad analog signal from an old VGA-cable - but this can't be on the AW2310.
Next guess is that this isn't the native resolution.

Do you really use the Dual-Link-DVI cable that came with the monitor?
1920x1080@120Hz is only possible with Dual-Link-DVI connection. A Single-Link-DVI or HDMI won't work.

I had another DVI plugged and was too lazy to change it and I didn't know it was a different DVI.

Hi there, I also have this problem.
I basicially ignored the problem, thinking that it was meant to look blocky at 120hz. But then i saw this thread, brought the correct cable (the one with all the pins) swapped it, and the text still looks blocky at 120hz.
Ive restarted, swapped dvi ports on the graphics card, reinstalled the most recent drivers and its still doing it. Im now im running out of ideas on how to fix it.

Specs:
i7, 470 graphics card, 6gb ram

Cheers
