3D on LCD Edimmensional glasses
  1 / 3
There is another topic on this subject but I thought it would be best to start in here afresh :) I have a pair of EDimmesional Glasses and would really like to get them working at an acceptable level on my LCD as we all know Edimmensionals LCD driver is rubbish :(

Bigtabs gave me this link from stereovision:

http://forums.stereovision.net/viewtopic.p...=2084&forum=1&1

Ive had limited success with this and if anyone else tries it please post your results :)

i should post it also here to discuss:

---------------------------------------------------------

hi guys, i have good news: you wont need ED driver for LCD ANymore!!! for nvidia:

1. download e-d.exe file (activator), link is in other topic. For this activator use following setup: LCD mode 2 (mode 1 should work too); interleaved; and when you need 3D then turn ON-stereo reversed. Now turn on game and CTRL-T to activate nvidia stereo, all other hotkeys works like usual.

2. use ShowAllVieverTypes = 1, use VREX mode (horiz interleaved), now, when u want use 3D, use e-d.exe Use in game THE SAME RESOLUTION as in desktop. Best picture on my 19inch LCD (MAX resolution-1280x1024) is when i use games in the same resolution; also i use max refresh rate 75Hz in my case

3. THATs it, nothing more, you dont ANY of ED software, even it will interfere with this method, u need ONLY nvidia stereo driver!!!!!

tested in Dx game, for 3D photos, 3D movie (THX Kinnick!!!!!!!!!), nv stereo test, WORKS NICE, but there is some ghosting, i'll work on it later.
now all what work with nvidia will work here, isnt it beautiful? )))))

Tomruman, I have a 19" LCD monitor, and I´m using the lats Nvidia Stereo combo driver and ED.exe.... and I do all you say. But the result are nor perfect for me. Here are my problems:

1) Only works fine using 1280x1024 resolution (with any refresh rate, but I use 75 hz usually). Using 1024x768 simply doesn´t work because ED.exe is like unactive.

2) Sometimes the Nvidia test included in the Nvidia driver works fine, but other times the convergence of the two images is not good, and it´s impossible to see a good 3D. Sometimes I only close the properties, open, and it works fine. This error happend also in games. I´ve uninstall and install the drivers, but doesn´t solve this problem.

3) The 3D feeling in games is not as good as with crts. I don´t know why, but is not as good.

4) Other games show a very bad 3D compared with crts.

5) The quality of images is reduced because you can see only half of the pixels (I supose that it can´t be solved in the future).

Then, y0u can see 3D with LCDs, but the result is something poor in this days. I hope a better solution from Nvidia.

The reason it will only work on some resolutions, or just one resolution is because it''s your native resolution. There are a certain number of pixels on a monitor and that''s native. So if it wants to do say 800x600 while the native is 1024x768, what happens is the pixel resize themselves. Depending on how good your LCD manufacturer is depends on how good the picture looks when it gets resized.

As for the drivers, I use the ed controller not the nvidia drivers and it works well, the same as nvidia on most games I currently play. The text in most games is bad, although their latest release seems to fix that. Just keep it at your native resolution and you should be fine. Lastly I have noticed LCDs with 4ms response times! That is when stereo will work best, don''t you agree?

Redhotgamer, you seem to be a Edimensional member. 4ms remponse time is nothing important (I have a 8ms and another 25ms and there is no difference in 3D). And the ed.exe with the edimensional drivers is a lost of time. Nvidia drivers are the only decent drivers to play 3D. I don´t understand why some people say what you say (I suppose you are a Edimensional man).

You could always try these screens instead (if you have a large bank account)..

What is an Edimensional man? I do have the e-d glasses of course, that is the only place to get a LCD model unless you buy a 5,000 dollar monitor!

If you know anything about LCD screens you would know that a slower response time means worse quality. Just because your 25ms and 8ms screens don't look any different doesn't mean anything. The point is that a faster response time means better quality. Better quality means possibilities for other modes and higher quality. Faster response times lead to faster refresh rates, etc. etc. So you are completely wrong in saying it makes no difference. Lastly, do you know what your typical response time is? Keep in mind that most company's selling LCD monitors don't list typical response times they list maximum so you may not be getting 8ms on your new monitor. You are probably getting 15 or 25 typical and 8ms is the best when the monitor has nothing to display but a word document. I'm a directx programmer, I know for sure that better response times means better stereo.

i think i must agree with redhotgamer, there are many aspects of this matter, and there is no simple answer for most questions. As for ED, i sold my "lcd compatible"glasses, and im setting up new system with mirror and 21inch CRT monitor+19inch lcd to match screen size, its best method for using 3D.
easy guys /hug.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> /hug.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> /hug.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

A little reminder for nvidia - we need a program/driver option/patch for drivers that allows to make horizontally reversed screen. We asked for it long time ago and still nothing ??!! DAMN JUST DO IT, it is so big trouble?? company make biig money and cant pay for making something like this? or your programmers simply dont understand what we are talking about?? This option is indeed in keystone, but we need it work: 1. VERY FAST; 2. in all modes especially in 3D accelerated, 3. it must work for chosen monitor in all of dual view modes; 4. it will be nice if it work in windows not only in full screen like stereo did till now...SHAME ON YOU NVIDIA!!
I'm awaiting this thing will be done soon...
attached file shows what we need...

What is that reverse effect for? Is that to use 2 monitors and a mirror?

Tomruman, can you explain better how tow monitors and a mirror works to do 3D stereo?. I have read something about in other forums, but only good words and nothing explaining how it works.
Any url with photos to see any system working?.

I´m very interested if it is like you say "its best method for using 3D".
