This is what I am considering. I am going to try and sell my 1080p screen and purchase the smaller 3d ready one.

What about burn in? Isn't that still a problem with plasma? If it is not then something like this could be great for me and nice price too.

Plasmas haven't had the problem of burn in for about 5 years now, they all use some sort of pixel shifting technology now. But as the other dude said I see no 3d ready stuff anywhere on bestbuys page so double check on samsungs page for certainty.

It has a 3d sync out on the back.

Not that it matters, unless I find a very cheap 3d ready tv, I am going to have to sell my tv and not get another. I bought it last year for 2200 and this year no one wants to buy it for anything over $800. This sucks balls.

Samsung 50" 3d ready plasma my friend.

Yes, it only does 3d at 1360x768 but you won't be disappointed.

It supports 1080p in 2d, so you can still have high res content if you choose.

I got mine for 1000 here in Canada. Might be worth looking into.

And yeah Samsung doesn't mention the 3d readiness of their earlier plasmas.. not even on their website..

I suppose because they are holding out for the 1080p 3d tv's.. which will probably cost 3 or 4 thousand dollars .. + ??

If you can enjoy it now for under 1000, do it.

-Stoked for the release of actual 3d blue ray movies.. they are going to look SICK on this t.v

I have the Samsung PS50B450 (<--- Europe!) 50" plasma TV which also works in 3D. Made a video of it a few days ago:

You can see the ghosting and checkerboard in the video. The 42" stretch the 4:3 image to 16:9 I believe?

The 42" Samsung will only display 3D @ 1024x768, 4:3

You don't want this set for 3D. Visit Samsung's website and take a look at the manual, it shows it there.

The 50" version of this set does 3D in widescreen, 1360x768

Also, dont expect that these sets will work perfectly in 3D out of the box, it takes some tinkering to get it right.
