A bit pissed Tim locked the thread regarding the future of 3D Vision.
You think Tim was sent here following RAGEdemon's email to Mr. Huang?
Whatever, I don't think he really understand our concerns. 3D Vision is used by many here on a daily basis.
Well...knowing that was bound to happen.
Goes hand in hand with them removing any traces of 3D Vision proprietary components with the driver.
Gotta discuss such elsewhere...these are still Nvidia’s forums.
I just find it funny..they could barely show an active presence in this forum when members had legit issues regarding
3D Vision all these years, but quickly read through a certain thread and take action at the slightest hint of “piggybacking proprietary components” to make new 3D software.
Actions speak all

What a bunch of cunts. Even though we're a small community, there is hundreds of thousands of dollars if not millions spent on video card, monitors, etc over the year between us all.

yah, that was a bit of a dick move. You try to get them to remove spam or abusive posts and it never happens. Even though it is properly reported.
Like this itunes spammer, ffs, you think that someone would remove his shit posts. How fail is it that I reported him a month ago. fail is fail

Well, that would be stupid, there is also a lot of information for VR users here. Lots of posts contain information and help. There are 3D vision users here mostly, but between our posters, just about every consumer HMD is owned by someone or another.
If they shut it down, I for one will not help anyone with any issues that I know a solution for in any other sub forum.

Now I'm a little scared for future games titles and no RTX 3080 support, and feel like...

Well this is a massive punch to the gut, all of my 3D blu-rays have been turned into coasters. I know 3D is a dying market and 3D gaming even moreso, but that doesn't mean everyone's back catalogues should have to go with it.

This is a cross post
We ask what are we going to due with thousands of dollars spent on 3D Vision related equipment which will become useless in the next year the thread gets locked. Don't be surprised if the 3D Vision forum is no longer here.

Thanks but we are going to do nothing and don't brother us.
I wonder if the reason 3D Vision was discontinued was because of RTX tech.
Hey everyone -
Thank you for your enthusiasm here. We elevated your concerns internally in March, and there has been discussion around your requests. Unfortunately, at this time, NVIDIA will not be making 3D Vision open source. Our teams are focused on continuing to provide high-quality drivers and support for our other great products.
I know this is not the result many of you would like to hear, but it is the current reality. We appreciate your support throughout the years. If there are other questions about the end of support for 3D Vision, please refer to our support page.
So, NVidia made a choice!
NVidia has chosen to kill it's most wonderful creation.
NVidia has chosen to bury it deep so nobody can enjoy it anymore.
NVidia has chosen to ignore people who have invested a lot of money into this technology but mainly who have invested a lot of love and emotions towards.
NVidia has chosen to lock us from even discussing our feelings.
I used to have great respect and admiration towards NVidia. I used to...

Yeah exactly, proper dick move. It's as though the wrong person got upset and demanded someone 'deal with it'.
I don't want to undermine any good will that may exist, but I think this potentially just fans the flames a bit more. Although we're a small userbase, there's absolutely no doubt that people (i.e. us) have been buying Nvidia hardware for a while mainly because of 3d vision, so they've been making money off the backs of the people in the community that have prolonged the longevity of their product.
You can definitely argue that there has been a good will component from Nvidia, as they have continued to 'support' us by keeping it as a part of the modern driver. But, if feels to me like they've now eroded that completely as they are clamping down on genuine not for profit efforts to extend the technology which they have by definition abandoned.
For the tech sites that covered the 'death of 3d vision' it would be a nice follow up to cover how Nvidia are trying to kill off any discussion about a future of the tech that they have abandoned. For a company that prides itself on innovation, it's probably against their own core values or mission statement or whatever they are called these days.
*edit* oh it also shows that emails/twitter etc. do get results and actually although the first results might be a negative it shows there is genuine leverage there.
