P.S. I am very concerned that something that is not officially supported (Samsung DLP support) "breaks" for 2 driver releases in a row. It was a leap of faith to invest in the Nvidia tech with the Samsung DLP "house of cards" and I've since bought a 2nd set of glasses. Having that break and hearing about supports lack of knowledge on the issue gives me a bad feeling. This is the kind of thing that has to stop--if something works, it needs to keep working, and if it does get broken, there is no way it should make it past one driver release. Is that a fair thing to ask for?
Hi

First, I'm glad you bought your product and took a chance, we love our users that want a better gaming experience.

Regarding Samsung, we will investigate the issue. I can tell you with 100% confidence that we have no intention of removing Samsung support, its likely a driver problem. In fact, we use Samsung DLPs to demo the product.

However, let me explain why it could exist in two driver releases. We have never officially supported Samsung DLPs. The reason is that we didnt work as closely with Samsung as Mitsubishi to certify their displays. That is why we never specifically list Samsung DLPs, since we could never say they are certified. We created some FAQs to try to support them, but its not official.

Needless to say, we will definitely look at the driver and figure out what's wrong.

Hi Guys

I read all your questions, which are great, and I will with with Amorphous and ChrisRay to help coordinate some responses. My apologies if there is delay since I am in Europe this week on a press tour and its 1:30 in the morning for me as I write this response. I'm going to 5 countries in 5 days, so not a lot of free time.

Thanks.

Andrew,

What about this? A Nvidia code change broke my support all together, cant run any drivers after 1.09(June) set up wont work it crashes and will not turn on the 3D at all. But I can t run the setup on any other monitor? Why is my specific DLP returning this error the second its plugged in? I used this monitor for months submitting the first Left4Dead bugs to your team and helped get the desktop resize 3D issue addressed with Samsung DLP's.

Can I get some love? I spent over 600 bucks I have 3 sets of glasses sitting collecting dust... =(

I greatly appreciate the response. I'm not currently a hard-core 3D Vision user, but I've still invested a bunch of money in the solution. My usage may increase now that I've got a stable Win7 setup on my HTPC and I'm upgrading to a GTX 275.
I completely understand where you are coming from on "official"/"certified" etc. But talk about mixed signals. First Nvidia goes to the time and expense to fix the issues with Samsung DLP support over a few months, and a few versions later, the driver breaks so it is basically unusable. I understand that happens. But I'm interested in why it happened and how Nvidia can keep that from happening again. Even if it is a few dedicated Samsung/CRT "generic" users that could report back in a timely manner to the devs when betas come out. I'm not asking for the devs to do a complete beta test every time, but something that completely breaks support should easily be caught by a user with a Samsung DLP/other generic device with only basic knowledge and troubleshooting skills. Maybe that isn't enough to delay new driver releases, but at least we as users know it is on the radar, which we didn't get any confirmation of that this time around until now (judging by support's responses that were reported here and elsewhere).

First of all my thanks and high appreciation for the turn thgis thread and overall communication has taken in the last 2 days.
I think we all can understand limitation of a standard (more or less) working day and that one person (even with the aid of the 2 admins cannot be everywhere at everytime.

As much as I agree with Dick dastardly concerning his wishlist, I think the most urgent problem at the moment is to get back generic CRT and DLP functionality. I checked yesterday with my trusted and known working CRT to find I could not select any other mode than the discover. This is a very easy to reproduce test: Install the software CD (first drivers then 3D vision) on a fresh Win7 install( no older drivers present!) and the setup fails to detect a 3D ready display. No amtter if you run the setup directly (as per default) directly after driver install or after rebbot through the nvidia system panel.

I think a fix for this as a stereo driver 1.17b is mandatory. If that's NOT feasable I would suggest (not knowing if it may be asked to much) to reveal the registry setting to manually force CRT/DLP mode through the registry (it even could be 2 simple "forceCRT.reg" / "forceDLP.reg" files provided by nvidia until the driver is completely reworked. I think this should be possible since doing so I have managed to set the anaglypch mode to a special reversed color code scheme. Does that sound like an option?

My question is: Is Nvidia working on a solution to a specific ghosting problem many users are experiencing on the samsung 2233rz and crt monitors where ghosting is evident at the top portion of the screen? There is a 9 page thread (http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=89261) on the issue which has been going for many months and no official recognition of the problem has been given yet either on this forum or through the official support ticket system.

I've included a photo in this post of the problem as seen through my left lense (the right shows the same problem).

It appears that the top to bottom screen refresh is not adequately synced to the glasses shutter timing. Subsequently a sync adjustment option is required to address this issue.

Andrew,
Thanks for the acknowledgement and plan to fix the issue. This is an actual highlight that brings joy to the holiday run for S3D games. Let's hope the driver team can crank it out today 12/1: the day Avatar The game is available on shelves.

Which stresses the need for adjustable delay/duty cicle to compensate for variances in panel/monitor manufacturing on an officially supported and suggested model!

Admin please add this feature request to Andrew's weekly list. Thanks.

Another feature that's essential for games with different perspectives ie. flight sim, racing sim, FPS that also has third person's view etc:

User convergence presets: This feature allows user to have two or more different convergence settings for EACH game, dedicated to different views for example: bumpit view or external view.

Autoconvergence: This feature would complement the above feature and if it's perfectly implemented would replace it altogether.

Im not sure about auto convergence because if im not wrong im pretty sure they would have to also implement something that scales to monitor size and setting

if they couldnt get auto convergence to work perhaps they can put it where it should be best based on percentage of depth being used and letting you set it manually also

Perhaps nvidia can create 3d vision setting files for games that implement popout mode , depth mode , mix mode as that would create a better user experience

What about the Mitsubishi DLPs? I read that the recent releases don't work and neither the most recent official nor most recent beta work for me - I can't get a "Next" on the connect emitter page. Is there an older version I should use. I invested in the TV and computer to get the 3D. It is all the worse because I bought two Samsung 3D monitors and they work great so the family is very anxious to use the 65" DLP! I am calm but this is very frustrating.
