Need help with getting 3D to work on LED
  1 / 2
Hi. I have a Samsung 3D LED tv and just got the 570 card. I enable the 3D and when I run the test, it works and I can see the logo in 3D. However, when I try to play a game or watch a 3D Blu-Ray movie, it doesn't. Are there certain settings on the card or my PC I need to be switched to in order for it to work? Thanks in advance for any help.

To play game on a 3D TV, you need 3DTV Play software. This allows all of our 3D Vision features to work over HDMI 1.4. Cost of the SW is $39.99, one time purchase.

More information here: www.nvidia.com/3dtv.

Assuming you have a 2010,2011 Samsung 3DTV, you must connect your 570 card to the HDMI1 input on the back panel. Next, be sure to enable all 3D modes on your Samsung on HDMI1 input. To do this, use the Samsung remote to navigate to the HDMI1/DVI input on your TV and label this input to "DVI PC". After these steps are done, you will see all seven 3D modes active when you hit the 3D button on your remote (four modes are grayed out from the factory). The TV is now enabled to do checkerboard mode, the prefered mode for 3D gaming.

Thank you for the quick reply. I'll be sure to download that when I get home. What about 3D movies though? I read that 3DTV Play isn't required for that, yet the 3D movies won't work. If it matters, I'm using PowerDVD to watch movies. When I click on the play in 3D option in the movie, it tells me I don't have what it needs. I have the 3D tv, the 3D Vision enabled, and an HDMI 1.4 hooked up. Is the HDMI adapter that comes with the 570 card able to read 1.4? That's the only guess I have right now why the movies won't run in 3D.

3D Vision/3DTV Play aren't required to do Blu Ray 3D, you only need Geforce drivers. You should see HDMI1.4 Blu Ray 3D in the CP.
Please give complete info on your set up such as Software player brand/release, type of cable/adaptor, output type (DVI or HDMI), which Blu Ray 3D title you are testing with.

I know. I'm saying that even with just the 3D Vision, I still can't watch any 3D bluray movies. I enable the 3D vision option, then I go to power dvd and when I go to watch the movie in 3D, the movie tells me I don't have the right setup, yet I do. Is there any other options in the Vision menu that I need to change?

Which options for 3D mode are you seeing on the pull down under PDVD? As you roll the mouse cursor over the '3D' icon, does it say disable? What Are you seeing under nvidia control panel > stereo 3D? HDMI1.4 Blu Ray 3D? Is 'enable S3D' box checked? I assume you are using the Samsung glasses and samsung emitter, right?

For Power DVD, the options it gives me in the 3D menu are: Enable CyberLink TrueTheater 3D, 3D Scene Depth, then under choose 3D display, it gives me: 3D Ready TV, 120Hz time sequential 3D LCD (Nvidia 3D Vision), and Micro polarizer 3D.

As for the Nvidia control panel, under stereo 3D I have Enable 3D checked, display type is 1.4 HDMI Blu-Ray 3D. All other options though are disabled and I can't use them such as setting the depth etc. I've went into the change resolution area and messed with the 2 for 3D TVs yet it still didn't work. This is driving me crazy lol.

You have the right nvidia CP for BR3D, and there is no adjustment for anything other than games, so all that seems normal. The PDVD player launches, the "3D" icon says 'disable 3D' when you roll over it with the mouse cursor (I'm assuming). Does the display configuration say "3D Ready TV (checkerboard)"? What happens next? Is the player stuck or does it continue in 2D?

The Power DVD doesn't do anything when I roll over the 3D icon. When I click on it, it just gives me the options like I mentioned in my last post. I tried putting it on 3D Ready TV and the other option which mentions the Nvidia Vision and neither work. I even tried enabling the CyberLink TrueTheater 3D and nothing. When I go to play Resident Evil 3D and click on the play in 3D option, just keeps saying I need the correct hardware. All I can think of what the problem may be is the adapter that came with the 570 card. It's a mini HDMI to large HDMI adapter. I'm wondering if it's 1.4 or not. I have a 3D 1.4 HDMI hooked up to it, but just wondering if the adapter is 1.4 or not. That's the only problem I can think of, though when I did the 3D test in the control panel, it worked fine.

The 3D icon (a blue cube) is between the Tru Theater icon and the pull down arrow. It does nothing when you click it, it just indcates state of your player, 2D or 3D. When you click on the pull down arrow, (not the 3D icon) you get the options you decribed. If this isn't consistant with what you are seeing, then you must not have the PDVD10 updated to MArkII.
I tried putting it on 3D Ready TV and the other option which mentions the Nvidia Vision and neither work.
What do you mean 'neither worked'? Does the player just sit there doing nothing, stuck? Regardless of everything else, the player should proced to play the disc even if it is in the wrong mode.
I even tried enabling the CyberLink TrueTheater 3D and nothing.
Right, tru theater isn't the problem.
When I go to play Resident Evil 3D and click on the play in 3D option, just keeps saying I need the correct hardware.
I've never seen any such message with the word "hardware", although I have seen a message complaining that the 3D mode you've choosen can't be done.

I don't think it's the adaptor, but I'll try mine to make sure. I have a mini-to-full HDMI1.4 cable so I don't need to use the adaptor.
I'm assuming that you are not using 3D Vision or 3DTV Play based on your CP which is correct. Given that, you should have the choice "HDMI1.4 HDTV" or something like that when you use the display config pull down arrow which is next to the blue cube. This along with other choices. Still, "3D Ready TV" mode should work. In any case, it shouldn't lock up the player. I'm wondering if your player doesn't have the right upgrade to MarkII since you don't seem to get the dialog "3D disabled" or 3D enabled" when you roll your mouse cursor over the bright blue 3D icon.
Which of the four HDMI1.4 inputs are you using? You need to be on HDMI1 on the rear panel.

I hooked the HDMI into the first input on my 3D LCD. I named it DVI PC and now I can get all the different 3D options. I tried everything though both using the Nvidia Vision and CyberLink TrueTheater 3D that's in the Power DVD menu and still the movie menu tells me the same thing, that I need the 3D TV and 3D player. I would always get that message when I'd use my stand alone Blu-Ray 3D player with a regular HDMI cable, so that's why I'm thinking the adapter is not 1.4.
