Absolutely. The fact these 144hz monitors are being cleared out doesn't bother me. No one is buying them once the G-Sync version are released. But it's scary when the actual kits start becoming scarce. Hopefully it doesn't mean anything and it was just a random coincidence two stores were OOS.
Yay, at a Green post showing up. Never thought that would happen again.
Whats this X or G-Sync thingie you're talking about?
It's Nvidia's new tech that's coming out next year. Instead of refreshing at a fixed rate (60hz, 120hz) like CRT's had been doing for the past 70 years, they're using a variable refresh rate and the monitor updates whenever the GPU sends out a new frame. It gets rid of lag, tearing, and stuttering. Also allows super smooth frame rate at as low as 35fps (since there's no stuttering to make it look choppy).

New news? That sounds awesome. I know you can't say, but I'm guessing it's related to HDMI 2 and CES products that'll be supporting it (Can we finally get a projector that does 1080p@60fps 3D?)
I think I'd also love to see some passive monitors that supported 3D Vision and G-Sync. Some of these newer games are resource hungry and 3D looks especially bad at lower framerates. If 3D suddenly only needed to be rendered at 40fps to look great, it'd be appealing.

This is fantastic news. I'm not really too concerned what the details are, much more important is the fact that it alleviates the concern that 3DVision has been canned altogether.

3D Vision is King and its back hopefully.
Josh@nvidia give us some more...... we have been dying for some 3Dvision news, update, tidbit, info SOMETHING Damn it for a long time.
So, should I scrap my plans on getting that Acer 27 inch monitor with 3D Vision 2 glasses and wait until these new monitors with G-Sync star coming out? Any info whether the 3D Vision 2 Glasses work with G-Sync (I'm on 3D Vision 1 glasses at the moment and that Acer Monitor is only 299e, which sort of makes the monitor very cheap as the 3D Vision 2 glasses here cost almost 200e, making the monitor to sort of cost only 99e). How much will these monitors with G-Sync will be likely to cost?
This G-Sync definitely explains the low prices on these monitors it seems. The retailers know about this upcoming new tech and they're dishing these "old" monitors out while they can.
"Edit": I also noticed that the Acer monitor has the infra-red transmitter built in the monitor, so do they sell the infra-red transmitters by them selves or do I need to purchase a whole new pair of 3D Vision 2 glasses if at some point I wan't to buy a monitor with G-Sync?

But it depends upon your needs and things that bug you. It's really hard to say if this is going to matter to us 3D Vision users, until we try it.
If you have ever been annoyed with stutter or lag, gSync is going to dramatically improve on those problems.
If I understand this all (not a sure bet), it's going to help in 3D Vision as well. Right now we have to run with vSync enabled via 3D Vision, at 60Hz, because otherwise we'd get eyes out of sync. Even if you disable vSync it's still on by the driver, because of the requirement for syncing the glasses. Thus, if your frame rate dips down to the 55 FPS range, you get into an alternating mode of fast/slow as what you see will skip a frame, then hold a frame too long. I can't say that I personally have much issue with this, but everyone is different.
On the don't wait side of the argument, the monitors are getting cheaper because of gSync, and thus it's actually a good time if you don't care about gSync, or don't think it will matter to you.
There is also the add-in board that some Asus monitors will support, and the one you are looking at might be able to accept the gSync board.
As far as I can tell, all the prior 3D hardware of 3D Vision 1 and 2 glasses and pyramids should still work with gSync monitors as well.

Thanks for all the helpful answers. I haven't really experienced any lag or tearing in 3D mode, at least as far as I can tell. My current LG monitor has a feature called Thru-mode which seems to completely eliminate input lag to 0 (according to a couple of reviews I've read), the Acer one that I'm thinking of buying seems to have at least 2ms of input lag and since I haven't really had any input lag on my current monitor, will this 2ms stand out that much? The Acer monitor has Lightboost and it's a 27 inch one compared to my 23 inch 3D Vision 1 monitor. So I'm not quite sure what to do, so if you were me what would you do? Go for the "cheap" 27 inch Acer one or wait until G-Sync is released and then see if it's really as important as it seems to be at the moment? Do 3D Vision 1 glasses work with Lightboost btw?

It doesn't really matter what the processing lag on a monitor is, v-sync adds lag if your framerate drops and it misses the draw call and has to hold until the next update.
