Personally, I would rather play with 3d 720p, or 2d 720p120 were it possible, with the settings for PQ, AA, etc. cranked way up, if I had a good gfx card. The 1080px2 mode is fine for blu-rays. I don't think 24fps per eye is enough, but I haven't tried it, because I don't have 3dtv play.
The frame rate for the shutter glasses by default is 60Hz per eye for both modes, for the 1080px2 mode, it does [i]LRLRB[/i], [i]LRBLR[/i], or something similar, for each 3d-frame. (Kind of like a 2:3 pulldown, 5*24 = 120), for the 720p it should be, of course, [i]LR[/i], for each 3d-frame.
