You can play 3d movies too.. And that was a big bonus for me beside games. I don't even have to buy 3d TV for that.
And games... OMG!! They are really marvellous with 3D vision. I can't play games without it anymore, I just can't.

That's strange, because I contacted Whitecap asking about it, and they replied "None of SoundSpectrum's visualizers support 3D currently."
I'm not surprised they told you it's not supported. For them to say that it is supported implies to them as intended design, and that would take extra money by them to make that happen. If you download the actual paid version, and use the stand alone visualizer, not the embeded one in the Music player such as iTunes or WMP, it works, I just tried it again on my PC and it still works in full on no crap 3D.

Well, on the basis of your message, I got whitecap standalone. It's a very nice program in 2D, so I'm happy to have it, but actually, it didn't work in 3D.

Of course the imagery is based on 3d, but I can see the artwork without using the glasses. In your case, you are using glasses right?

So, I'm using the standalone version. Was there any command you used to enter 3D mode? As mentioned, my whitecap display is in 2D. Is there some way you are getting it to go 3D? What happens as you change from 2D to 3D?

Yeah, just like Bethesda says its games dont and never will support 3D, and yet theyr'e somme of the best games in 3D. Or 90% of other games out there. It amazes me that developers dont want to check out their own games in 3D, maybe make some slight changes in some to better support it, and then list it as a feature of the game. Unless its a thing where they have to pay to get the 3Dvision ready logo or whatever

And thanks for the suggestion grabbed WhiteCap free version and it works beautifully in 3D. I bumped up the convergence and now the waveforms pop out in my face, sweetness. Im using it via winamp visualization, then right click on it and hit fullscreen and it just works. I went into the whitecap settings and set FPS for 50-something cause i noticed some screen tearing, and i turned the background transparency to 100 to disable the backgrounds cause they just messed with 3D effect IMO.

Ok, sounds like it does work. But still, not for me. Maybe I can describe what happens, any you'll spot something I'm doing wrong. In Whitecap standalone, if I run it fullscreen, it starts out running in 2D. Then I press control T, and then I see an attempt at 3D. The green light on the emitter goes brighter, and if I adjust convergence, it varies the width between lines in the art, so I think part of the 3D system is working. But I also get a warning:

"attempt to run Stereoscopic 3D in a non-stereo display mode, please change to an acceptable mode. See documentation for acceptable Stereoscopic 3D modes."

And the glasses aren't converting it to 3D - it just looks like 2 overlayed (but offset) images, as though the glasses aren't synced.

A search for the word Stereoscopic on any of the documentation pages, finds no mention of acceptable modes.
A test of the current mode, with the 'test stereoscopic 3D' button in the nvidia control panel, shows 3D is working on this 3D ready benq XL2410T monitor.

Let me know if there's anything else I could describe, because I'd really like to get this working.

EDIT! There's something intermittent happening here, because when I went back to it to try it in Winamp, and after reinstallng whitecap to get the winamp visualizer, it started to work!!! I turned off the background, and yes, much inproved for me too.

Then I went back to standalone, and it still didn't work, still gave the error above.

So, what a wierd flaky kind of environment I've come into, with partial 3D support, only when whitecap is run through a second program. Meanwhile, jonainpdx is finding standalone works, as though there's some unknown variable that makes it fail in my case.

Well, anyway, thanks for the various inputs along the way, I'm glad to have winamp/whitecap working in 3D, and googleearth (even with tridef's official lack of support for the monitor).

Some great apps that are 3d vision compatible:
stereo movie maker
stereo photo maker
stereoscopic player

Its mostly games, still and video apps that can make use of 3d effectively. Having an application like a word processor have depth is probably not very practical application anyways. I forgot the name of a picture app that used 3d vision, it was cool, but as soon as the cool wore off, its not practical to use it in 3d.

Maybe it has to do with some setting like refresh rates, I don't know. I havn't had to put any effort into getting it to work. But like I said, Whitecap was not intended to work with 3D Vision, it just does. On my system at least. I will tell you this much, I can't get it to work in iTunes or WMP. Only in the stand alone program.
