From what i understand there seems to be two 3D vision kit... the regular one and Pro. I have a Quadro K4000 video card and i bought the regular 3D vision kit. My card is listed as compatible for 3D vision pro but with the stereo cable.
Is that only for the 3D vision pro kit to work with my card or do i need it to use the regular kit too? Wont it work with just the usb cable?

The main difference between pro and consumer glasses are that the pro glasses use rf frequencies to transmit the sync signal.
That stereo cable that you refer to, is required for the consumer glasses if you are using a supported Mitsubishi DLP 3D HDTV.
Is it required if you are using a Quadro GPU? I'm unsure.
What are you trying to do? Game, watch Movies and/or run appliacations in Stereo?
What OS are you using. Laptop or Desktop?
Which Display model and type of connection?
I have a benq xl2720z 144hz monitor and an Nvidia quadro K4000 card on Windows 8.1. I'm just trying to use the 3D vision kit with my pc which I will receive tomorrow. My question about the stereo cable is from Nvidia's page which says I need the cable for this card but the article only mention 3D vision pro.

I'm fairly sure that you will be able to run the consumer version of the glasses+emitter kit while using the Quadro. I have a Quadro in my laptop, and was able to get that scenario working with an external projector.
You don't need that extra cable.

Not all cards require the stereo cable. Mine is listed as it requires it. But i don't know if that only apply to the pro version. Anyways i am getting the consumer kit today and i will post my experience. I've also ordered the stereo bracket for my card since it didn't come with it.

If it's the same as mine, then no it doesn't affect the quality of anything at all ... the Stereo/VESA cable that you're referring to doesn't really do anything but tell the emitter, or in this case maybe the GPU(?), that the Display/TV is in 3D mode which isn't really necessary for most setups ... because most setups don't even have an emitter port to plug the cable into now, it's an older '3D Ready' left over.
I have the above mentioned Mitsubishi DLP and the only reason I need the cable is to remove a stupid red VESA cable error message that NVIDIA put in place to stop people from 'stealing' 3D that appears when it's not present ... my DLP-Link glasses and 3D work perfectly with and without the cable, and with or without the error message.
