New 3D Vision Champ? Asus PG278Q Announced

I wish tech industries support niche interests more. It almost seems like that is exactly what they need to do to survive as well. Lol, we've got the technology for a wrap around high res 3D VR device, with OLED right now...ugh.

/\ The article Wired did last month was very interesting. Contrary to what some on the internet believe, the very latest version (the sub 15ms latency) isn't going to be at CES. Oculus stated that in the Wired article. It's just going to be the lastest version using some of their advancements (the non OLED advancements). The sub 15ms version is using an OLED screen. And it's not exactly a secret from which phone is was pulled from. Nate Palmer (I think) then talked about that. And how Samsung is the only one making OLED screens, but has never sold these things to third parties. But the article was sure to point out that he smiled. So who knows. Maybe they may be able to pull something cool off with Samsung. EDIT: Interestingly enough, the latest CES version has an AMOLED screen. Latency around 30ms from head movement to rendering complete. Guess they changed from what they were planning last month: http://www.wired.com/gamelife/2013/12/oculus-rift/ Although it's still 10ms higher than that version.
Steam just added a "VR Support" filter to their catalog (which right now only means Oculus) Did Oculus really leapfrog 10 years of Nvidia 3D work in just one year?
... I want a '3D Vision' filter and auto Helix Mod 'patching'. Sigh. It would be really nice to see 3D Vision or Helix Mod supported icons, sure would make buying games a whole lot easier, ... which reminds me of the 'mock up' I did for Remember Me, which was fortunately fixed by Helix. If you can't make 10 million of something, you can't get the costs down because they are spread over too 'small' a base. So it's rare for companies to try things that are less than 10M quantity, at any price. At the other end, we get one-off bespoke type stuff that is crazy expensive, for the CEO who has everything. Like projectors. Why doesn't someone make a 1080p projector with Dual-DVI that isn't $25K? Edit: counter-example to my example is Rift. They made it for $300, in quantity of 10K.

There is a mention of lightboost for the ROG swift on this site. Maybe they will announce it is 3d capable later on as 3D is a bad word right now at ces. http://www.blurbusters.com/asus-pg278q-rog-monitor-1440p-120hz-gsync/
Neither. Its not a 3d display.
How come you are so sure on this Eqzitara? Granted, 3D is not mentioned in any of the tech jargon, however: 1 ms GtG Gsync 120 hz TN panel This would together strongly hint that it will support 3D. Are there any 120hz TN panels made by Asus that weren't 3D? I would go with the notion already mentioned, that it is more likely that they are simply not mentioning 3D. This could primarily be because it is a dirty word in CES 2014 due to it's serious failings in sales that was promised to shareholders in 2012-2013. (They want shareholders and key purchasers to think that Gsync and HD+ is going to sell the product, not 3D) You may be right but your certainty, for me at least, is unfounded unless you know something we don't. Big happy new year to you though, and to all other fellow 3D gamers!!! P.S. I'm responding/objecting as I really wouldn't mind a new higher res 27inch monitor when I replace my system at the end of this year/ beginning of 2015... and this one may just fit the bill, assuming you're wrong of course ;-).

I don't mind if there is no IR emitter in it and it's not bundled with 3D glasses from Nvidia. I don't care wether it has or not the damn G-Sync. More than 50 games support 3D vision today, and the future ones will not only have 3D vision support but be made for VR as well (which would be awesome). I just wanna know if getting the 3D vision kit from Nvidia will allow me to game at 1440p resolution on that monitor. I would probably use it one more year for 3D gaming (while Oculus Rift goes deeply in gaming industry) and then only for 3D movies.
It's a shame that I can no longer give a damn about GSync.
Well, I'm still waiting on the PG278Q to be released, having G-Sync for 2d gaming and still being able to 3d game at 120hz is a nice combo, that in combination with the 2560 x 1440 for the desktop (i'll prob be gaming in 1080p for fps) makes it all worth it. (ps. I think G-Sync in combination with 3d would only be helpfull if the FPS stutters in between 50 and 60fps with 3d. Otherwise the fps wil become to low and there will be more eyestrain. So it will rarely be effective.)

From my reading it doesn't seem like the fundamental technology would preclude Gsync from working with 3D Vision, but it depends upon the shutter glasses and if they are hard locked to their starting frequency. I know the 3D Vision glasses run as low as 85Hz, because I did that before when using a CRT setup. I don't notice shutter flickering at 85Hz (45 per eye), so in my fantasy world I was hoping to see Gsync work from 85Hz to 144Hz range in 3D.
