Nvidia 3D vision sticker
  1 / 2
Hello all,

I own an Alienware M17x R3 and will be required to replace the back panel of it in the next few days. Unfortunetly this will result in the loss of a few stickers off my laptop including an nvidia 3D vision sticker. I have already asked Dell and they do not have any to hand out.

Would anyone here know how to obtain a new one of these? Would Nvidia be able to sell one? Or does anyone have a new unused one to sell?

It simply says "NVIDIA 3D Vision" and is (W)30mm x (H)11mm in size.

Cheers,

Jordan

Sorry but I think nvidia removed this feature. Stickers are too complicated for most people to understand.

OP, If you run out of leads with Nvidia you can try going the custom route with a place like this that makes them: http://www.cnaweb.com/casekeyboardlogo.aspx?gclid=CMHo2bX4t60CFYFx4AodPS8dsg

Basically you just need to send them a high-res pic of the logo and they'll make it for you.

Why are you trolling someone seeking help about a legitimate problem? What people won't understand is your habit of randomly trolling posts that have nothing to do with your ongoing complaint with Nvidia.

@chiz

Thanks for your suggestion! Hadn't thought of that. Stickers obviously aren't a huge thing, but it'll be nice for situations like if I ever need to resell my laptop.

Still open to other suggestions though.

Unfortunetly it is one of those really sticky plastic coated ones, and it'll just curl if you peel it off :-( .

Nice idea though :-) .

You could try using a hairdryer to heat the sticker. It's not always possible but sometimes works wonder.

@Likay

Nice suggestion! Will give this a try out later! It makes sense really as the heat should melt some of the sticky side.

You are correct. I offer my apologies to the OP and will make a contribution.

As a last resort, as it may damage the sticker depending on the material it is made of, you can try soaking the sticker with a mixture of water and fabric softener. This might counter the glue. If it comes off without any damage, rinse it gently in cold water until the fabric softener is gone and blot with a towel and then let it air dry.

@Bobeggy

Sounds like a very odd method, but still adding to my "to try" list, thanks! I don't think there is any easy way of taking the sticker off without it curling and/or losing its stickiness.

As for solvents if you're going to try. Use only alcoholbased ones, not toluene, acetone or similar since they will probably dissolve the label and even rough up plastic surfaces of the computer. The problem is that alcoholbased solutions most probably can't deal with the labelglue anyway. It may be possible that petroleum spirit can solve the glue but you still risks damages to plastic surfaces. I wouldn't try it without testing on a nonvisible spot first.

Here is a silly idea.. Why not ask Dell to just swap the backplates? I mean its just plastic right? can't that be done?:)

Yeah Likay's suggestion is probably your best bet. You can also use a sharp, thin, clean surface like a razor blade or better yet a laminated card like a Blockbuster Card once the adhesive is heated up a bit to help lift the sticker off. This will help get the sticker off without peeling it back or getting the adhesive dirty so it will be easier to stick back on your new backplate.

@helifax

Dell have sent me a new back plate but it does not come with stickers, thus why I am in this dilema. Dell said they don't have any stickers to give out.

@chiz

Thanks, it certainly does sound the best technique, will let people know if it is sucessful or not :-)
