nVidia 3d Vision Video Player Makes Your Movies 3D! Yep, you read right!
Figured out last night that you can make any of your movies 3d with the 3d Vision Video Player which is a free download from nVidia (thanks for that one guys!). You open the movie of choice in the movie player and then press the button that looks like 3D glasses (noticed an issue where it doesn't work unless you press the eye first then press the glasses button, more of a quirk really). The movie goes to full screen and you notice the glasses turn on but the movie looks the same. Simply press the left or right key on the keyboard and the movie splits into the two different images for 3d! The more times you press left or right the more it splits the images, so you can find a setting that works for you. You don't even need to have the settings on left first or right first, I was using the right first interpolation and it was still splitting the movies correctly. Noticed some small ghosting issues, but the depth you get is really cool. I always thought the movie had to be 3d for it to work, so I didn't even bother looking into the features of this media player. But now I am really glad I did! /yes.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

All it does is either moves the image out ofd the screen or into the screen. to get full 3d you need two slightly different perspectives per eye.

When I pressed the left button it split the video into two images and there was instantly depth (it isn't just moving one image to the left, the more you press the button, the more separation and depth). Granted it isn't as good as a movie that was made for 3d, but it does give the video 3d depth. If done correctly, you will see the movie split into two movies(one for each eye) just like it converts video games. I am thinking you might have your settings wrong.

Although I knew this feature you finally showed me how to increase the depth in Nvidia player, thanks alot :)

Glad to help! I just stumbled across it and thought it was cool, so I had to post. I thought for sure you needed a 3d movie to get any depth, but I was bored and decided to try messing around with the many features of the media player and all of a sudden the movie looked like it had actual depth! Granted, it is not an IMAX 3d experience, but it definitely enhances the movie.

i just tried it but i cant get any depth effect due to the fact that there's no convergence anywhere. The amount of separation in the front is the same as in the back so i dont see how you could obtain 3d effect with this unless you found a way to change the convergence.

It's not 3d either... /teehee.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':teehee:' /> . As best just a flat image with no volumetric depth at all. The holy grail of 2d-3d conversions isn't discovered yet but i'm reserved for the future.

File->parallax is the only option you have, and that will transform the entire image, there is no object detection or any 3d conversion going on
the parallax menu is supposed to be for increasing/decreasing separation on already stereoscopic images/videos, in case your eyes hurt or something
there is no 2d->3d conversion going on in stereoscopic player/ nvidia 3d player !
shows how easily you are fooled that something is "3d", next you are gonna put on the glasses and look at 2d monitors and go "but the glasses make it sort-of 3d"...

My bad guys! Very sorry if I misinformed. When I got the movie to split into two images the movie appeared to have depth. As the movie does appear to be deeper in the screen, the actual movie images don't seem to have 3d qualities. The convergence that makes a movie actually 3d isn't there, so my eyes deceived me a bit. I haven't been able to mess with it any more due to the new beta surround drivers breaking my video player.
