hmm, i have downloaded 3dtv play with no success, but as dman said earlier, my projector only supports hdmi 1.3 where as 3dtv play requires hdmi 1.4.
so if this is the case, there's no way of getting 3d on my pc without 3d vision glasses?..without hacks or workarounds? seem like i've tried pretty much everything else.
what about xbox or ps3? if i have a dlp projector and dlp link glasse, that should be all i need right?
To directly answer your question: No, not without hacks. It's not certified by NVidia. End of story.
More story- NVidia took the tack of requiring certification, instead of allowing any random hardware to be enabled. We can argue about it, but they made the choice. That's why nothing 'unsupported' works without hacks. I think that NVidia was trying to manage the experience, to avoid the inevitable really crappy 3D solutions. And mostly, I think they have succeeded. It was a surprise to me as well as you that they took this tack, since on PC we are sooo used to doing anything we want.
When Optoma or Qumi says "3D Ready" they mean it will do Blu-Ray. That is all any of the TV based stuff means. You might be able to get XBox or PS3 to play nice. It depends upon the DLP and which Link glasses. When it says "3D Ready" you can possibly use the 3D TV Play software- that's what it is for, to allow you use play PC games on 3D TVs, which is what it thinks your projector is.
I'd send that Qumi back and get an Acer H5360. Same price. The NVidia 3D Vision is easily the best 3D solution available today. I've seen a lot of the others, and they tend to blow it on the glasses.
I think D-Man11 is probably frustrated with people coming into this forum and bashing NVidia, when it actually is not NVidia's fault. I know I am.

i don't have an optima projector... so what are you talking about. what the fuck is your problem buddy? i have read plenty of forums but i might not be searching the right topics. that's why i come to forums like this for people to help. not to take shit from assholes.
nvidia says my computer is 3d ready. it is their fault they don't tell you that you have to have their glasses and emitter. ther's no reason for me to require an emitter if my projector can link active glasses. the drivers should work without them having to be greedy assholes. this is why new technology doesn't catch on fast. people are always trying to be greedy bastards and monopolize the new tech. i wouldn't blame any company for not buying nvidia's license, they probably charge up the ass for that.. then budget projector prices would go up, therefore wouldn't be budget projectors.
i don't want an emitter, no. i wanted to know if i could roll back my drivers because when i bought a 3d ready computer years ago with an nvidia card, i'm pretty sure it had an option to enable 3d if you didn't have an emitter... there's no reason for them to decide all of a sudden that now you can only use their product.
my point in this topic was to ask if there were other ways to enable 3d without buying the kit. i didn't come here for your attitude. you could have simply told me the information you did without being a dick about it. but thanks anyway.

thank you bo3b for straight forward answers. it's not just nvidia i am frustrated at... it's every company that uses the same technology but requires you to buy their glasses ONLY for a 3040390239% mark up.
i only bought the vivitek qumi because it is a pocket projector and i am not at home right now. i will have to pack it up in a suitcase to bring back home with me, and my bags were already full on the way here. i needed something small but still 3d capable.
if i bought the 3d vision kit, and enabled stereoscopic 3d on my computer, would the qumi still not be able to game in 3d because of the requirement for frame sequential format?
and what i was asking about xbox or ps3, i couldn't just plug that into the projector and enable dlp link? something about the display format there that wouldn't allow me to view 3d either?

OK so it's made by Vivetek.......my bad!!!!!!!!!
I already told you........The Xbox and PS3 DO NOT output frame sequential.
Sure you can plug them in...and they would work.....in 2D.
That 3D Option that you always saw lingering there in the Nvidia control panel................
Well that was to enable 3D Vision Discover ...tard
Buying an Acer H5360 would not help this guy at all.....because it requires an emitter to enable stereographic gaming as well.....and well...he's said several times.....he's not buying one.
So why would you come to an official website looking for a hack?
Like I said, try another forum for your hack

did i hear somewhere that the 11 in your name stands for your age? if so, then i forgive you for being a dick, because you don't know any better... if not, then... grow the fuck up dude.. i'm asking a valid question. i'm not looking for a hack. i'm asking if the older version of nvidia's drivers supported 3d with non nvidia glasses. and i think it was basically implied that it used to be that way... so it pisses me off that companies force you to buy their product. i'm entitled to my opinion.
i would prefer not to buy an emitter if i don't have to... but i never said i wouldn't if it was the only solution. i asked if it was possible not to be obligated to use it.. there's nothing wrong with that. if the answer is absolutely no, then i will look for an other solution, which could either be seeing if any of the hacks would work or if i will HAVE to buy nvidia's glasses. that's all i was askig in the first place.
but what i get from this is that yes, it is possible but it involves hacks and you can not explain anything on here.
this was all i was asking for, there was no reason to be a dick.
THANKS to those who were helpful.
hi everyone,
so i've been reading endless forum posts for days now with absolutely no progress on setting up my 3d projector with dlp link glasses.
why will nvidia not offer support for regular 3d anymore? i don't want to buy their glasses or their pyramid IR base.
i have the qumi q2 lite projector and some generic dlp link glasses from ebay.
i've tried everything to get passed the set up screen for stereoscopic view but nothing works. i've downloaded 3rd party drivers (did nothing), many different stereo players (won't recognize any stereosopic drivers), the 3dtv play trial which didn't recognize my projector, even an IR emitter emulator which didn't install properly.
there's nothing left for me to do besides buy nvidia's glasses, which i refuse to do after all the problems and stress they've caused me.
can someone PLEASE tell me how to set this up? what am i doing wrong? there has to be a way to use the 3d drivers without the 3d vision kit. if there isn't, then that is very sad for companies like nvidia, who i used to think highly of. it's not like i can rip the graphics card out of my laptop after having it for only about a year and try a different one. when i first bought a computer with nvidia 3d drivers, it seemed they had support for regular glasses and tv set ups.. WHERE DID THAT GO?!
I guess I misinterpreted things you said like:.....

The thing that irks me is that you have claimed to have read endless forums, yet know nothing.
You have DLP Link glasses, it's pretty easy to play files off of your hard drive with a stereographic player. People have been doing it for years. There are numerous posts about doing so. It has nothing to do with 3D Vision
Most of us have "Payed" for our 3D Vision Kits and were glad to do so.It's people like you, that do not want to pay to play that are undermining the support that 3D gaming receives. From your first post, I'd assume that you bit torrent your games and movies.

yes, i said i do not want it. i will try all the steps i need to take that wouldn't require me to get it first. if in the end it is the only solution, then it's the only solution. not like i'm going to refuse to buy them forever if it's literally the only way to get 3d. i would try to buy 3d vision knock offs first if i can because they do not mark up the product by 14000%. i still supported nvidia buy purchasing their video card. and sometimes big companies forget this. not everyone has a fucking endless bank account to just keep investing into more periferals and other garbage without warning.
if you can tell, i have the ability to exagerate when typing.. not sure if you've ever encountered that before. when i say endless forums, i was looking for 3 days for answers to how to enable 3dvision with my dlp link glasses.. ofcours i knew nothing, i wasn't looking up the right info. which is why i CAME HERE! hoping to encounter mature people with kind advice.... you answered pretty much all my questions. but you had to be a dick for some reason that is beyond me
and i AM buying into the system retard, i bought dlp link glasses, didn't i? i bought a 3d projector didn't i? i bought a computer with nvidia's graphics card didn't i? i just do not want to support companies that will try to monopolize certain assets of the industry if i can help it. their video cards are aready ubiquitous, it's not like they NEED people to spend the $200 extra just so they can use their already expensive ass video card.
i am not trying to steal anything or do anything illegal here, therefore you shouldn't have a reason to have that stick up your ass. rolling back your drivers is still using their drivers.. back when they offered support to everyone! how nice of them to cut us off and force us to spend $200 more... or $35 on extra 3dtv play software.
both our opinions are valid.. i just like to spread the weath and support those who arent as greedy and work on making their products more affordable. you make it seem like i'm scum cause i don't want to buy nvidia's glasses lol. well how do you know you didn't get duped? you could be the sucker who dropped an extra $200-300 it goes both ways. if you have the cash then go right ahead. my glasses could work just as well and i still supported the 3d movement and have left over money to buy 3d movies or games... thus supporting the industry more by spreading out my product purchases.

I offered you a hanky, if you're looking for a shoulder....ain't happening!
All your posts are about how can I hack and not use an emitter. I'm not buying an emitter.
Like I said, if that's your goal, try another forum.
If you had a Radeon card, you'd still have to buy TriDef for 3D gaming.
Oh wait, you'd post wanting to know how to hack the product key, because you're "entitled".
If you came here for sympathy or a pity party, I apologize. But you should have stated as much. I could have grabbed a cake and ice cream at the store. Candles too, if it would cherr you up.

oh, an other thing... if i can watch a 3d file from my hard drive and it has nothing to do with 3d vision... then wasn't that what i was asking for from the start? you're implying you wouldn't need the 3d vision kit!?? i never said i wanted it for gaming. i'd be satisfied with 3d movies. you could have easily told me this without blowing up.

Not sure if someone has covered this yet but maybe this will help. To do 3D with your DLP-link projector (I have the vivitek 537 HD) it must be connected via the VGA cable when using projectors with HDMI 1.3 as most projectors are at this time. You also MUST have a video card capable of quad buffer opengl. This would be a Geforce GTS-250 or HIGHER. In other words your Geforce 8400 will not work. (is does not support quad buffer opengl). So if you don't have a Geforce GTS-250 or higher you will need to upgrade the video card. No other way around it. Once you have the supported video card you need to set the 3D to "on" in your projector menu. Only then try running the 3D setup on the Nvidia control panel and use a stereoscopic 3D player such as Stereoscopic Player by Peter Wimmer. That should work!

I had problems with newer nvidia drivers with my 3D ready projector (Qumi Q2). I can only confirm that the older drivers can let you enable stereoscopic 3D on the Qumi while newer drivers don't seem to work at all.
When you find an older driver that still works with the projector. For my Quadro FX Mobile card the last driver that worked was 307.45 released around November last year. My guess is, this was around when Nvidia took out the support for 3D ready pre HDMI 1.4 none supported devices.
If you still want to try to enable the 3D for gaming or movies (I use stereoscopic player around 39 euros for the full version).
Open Nvidia control panel.
1. Go to manage 3D settings
2. Edit Base profile settings for "Stereo - Display mode" set to "3D DLP display"
and "Stereo - Enable" set to "on"
3. Go to setup stereoscopic 3D
4. Click the checkbox that says Enable stereoscopic 3D you can test Stereo mode at the bottom
*note that you have to set the resolution and refresh rate to
1024 x 768 120Hz for the projector if your using "HDMI". You can
also use the "VGA input" set at 1280 x 720 120Hz but I find that
the video quality doesn't look better with this setting,
worst in my opinion.
*You also need to enable 3D DLP-Link in the "Installation II" menu under
"Advance". This will allow you glasses to communicate
with your glasses through the projection. You have to do everything
stated above before this will work.
*In stereoscopic player I have set my "Viewing Method" as "Nvidia 3D vision"

I know I am.

i only bought the vivitek qumi because it is a pocket projector and i am not at home right now. i will have to pack it up in a suitcase to bring back home with me, and my bags were already full on the way here. i needed something small but still 3d capable.
if i bought the 3d vision kit, and enabled stereoscopic 3d on my computer, would the qumi still not be able to game in 3d because of the requirement for frame sequential format?
and what i was asking about xbox or ps3, i couldn't just plug that into the projector and enable dlp link? something about the display format there that wouldn't allow me to view 3d either?
I already told you........The Xbox and PS3 DO NOT output frame sequential.
Sure you can plug them in...and they would work.....in 2D.
That 3D Option that you always saw lingering there in the Nvidia control panel................
Well that was to enable 3D Vision Discover ...tard
So why would you come to an official website looking for a hack?
Like I said, try another forum for your hack
i would prefer not to buy an emitter if i don't have to... but i never said i wouldn't if it was the only solution. i asked if it was possible not to be obligated to use it.. there's nothing wrong with that. if the answer is absolutely no, then i will look for an other solution, which could either be seeing if any of the hacks would work or if i will HAVE to buy nvidia's glasses. that's all i was askig in the first place.
but what i get from this is that yes, it is possible but it involves hacks and you can not explain anything on here.
this was all i was asking for, there was no reason to be a dick.
THANKS to those who were helpful.
I guess I misinterpreted things you said like:.....
i don't want to buy their glasses or their pyramid IR base.
there's nothing left for me to do besides buy nvidia's glasses, which i refuse to do after all the problems and stress they've caused me
there has to be a way to use the 3d drivers without the 3d vision kit.
Hopefully once I turn 12 and enter 6th grade, I'll learn to read.
From your first post, I'd assume that you bit torrent your games and movies.
if you can tell, i have the ability to exagerate when typing.. not sure if you've ever encountered that before. when i say endless forums, i was looking for 3 days for answers to how to enable 3dvision with my dlp link glasses.. ofcours i knew nothing, i wasn't looking up the right info. which is why i CAME HERE! hoping to encounter mature people with kind advice.... you answered pretty much all my questions. but you had to be a dick for some reason that is beyond me
and i AM buying into the system retard, i bought dlp link glasses, didn't i? i bought a 3d projector didn't i? i bought a computer with nvidia's graphics card didn't i? i just do not want to support companies that will try to monopolize certain assets of the industry if i can help it. their video cards are aready ubiquitous, it's not like they NEED people to spend the $200 extra just so they can use their already expensive ass video card.
i am not trying to steal anything or do anything illegal here, therefore you shouldn't have a reason to have that stick up your ass. rolling back your drivers is still using their drivers.. back when they offered support to everyone! how nice of them to cut us off and force us to spend $200 more... or $35 on extra 3dtv play software.
both our opinions are valid.. i just like to spread the weath and support those who arent as greedy and work on making their products more affordable. you make it seem like i'm scum cause i don't want to buy nvidia's glasses lol. well how do you know you didn't get duped? you could be the sucker who dropped an extra $200-300 it goes both ways. if you have the cash then go right ahead. my glasses could work just as well and i still supported the 3d movement and have left over money to buy 3d movies or games... thus supporting the industry more by spreading out my product purchases.
