The patch mainly addresses the wide screen bug,, the first Bioshock had the same problem at launch as well.
Instead of adding more screen to the sides in 16:9 it would crop the top and bottom of a 4:3 format to make it fit the 16:9 or 16:10 format screen, essentially giving wide screen users less of a picture instead of more.

But I hope it fixes your 3D vision issues as well.

So, has anyone tried the Bioshock 2 patch and 3D vision together?

I was under the impression that we needed a 2K patch AND a profile from Nvidia before 3D works correctly?

I am going to go ahead and install it then. Been waiting. I will let you know if there is a 3d fix.

Don't get excited.

Well I havn't tried much but initially 3D wont even start. Turn the options on but the image is still displayed for 2d and the glasses arent kicking on.

.:EDIT:.

After a couple game restarts it started working. Not sure what all settings I should toggle off. Turned off high detail post processing and real time reflections. What else?

Crosshair still at screen depth, tolerable on lowest depth setting ... but i dont particularly want to play on the lowest. Ghosting around characters can be bad. Seems just slightly better than bioshock 1.

Now I held off on running it in 3d until now ... I have an what I am seeing is what everyone saw and thus I dont think anything is fixed. I will post some screenshots

Screenshots. Most of them are at minimum depth cause like I said crosshair is still at screen depth. The ones that arent are obvious cause the crosshair doubled up. It is playable at minimum depth though.

Ghosting issues can be bad in some areas as you will see.

And even though it seems playable at min depth because I have to trick this thing to even wake up my glasses (I gotta start 1 3d application and close it before i start bioshock 2 if I want it to run 3d) there is something it is doing now that is horrid. Doesn't do it in 2d and it didnt do it at all the first time in 3d ... but ever since the first sucessful run in 3d every other attempt I get these huge blinking artifacts now ... like the game is flashing big grey polygons here and there as I look around ... granted could be my drivers I am running some 196.34 beta drivers atm and they do crash a lot and stuff.

One thing I saw that I like, unrelated to 3d, they have a menu setting to turn off mouse accel! Like I said never loaded it pre patch but people were on the 2k forums complaining of mouse lag. I have this option turned on and the mouse feels good.

Even before I ran the patch (installing it as I speak), there was flashing polygons and big grey flashing stuff... There is so much wrong with this game at the moment. 2k just denied any hope of me using my 360 controller, and thats a bad sign, thats what Games for windows live is about; support. I feel there is a 50/50 chance we get a 3d vision patch.

I smell a fail coming up, big time...

I think the flashing stuff is more driver oriented. I rolled back from betal 196.34 to whql 196.21 and the artifacts reduced considerably ... but not totally. I will keep playing with drivers until I find one that likes. I may see what happens with 182.50 ... those were also so reliable in everything except physx titles.

same boat, no controller support, no 3D. the idea that its a GFW game and it has a menu option for 3D yet both these features don't work makes zero sense to me.

I really don't want to play this game without 3D support. I ruinedMass Effect 2 that way. We need more fully 3D games!

Good luck! I'm going to wait for the custom crosshair as the current one is pretty distracting depending on the weapon.

Yeah, it makes no sense. I really wish they had at least not omitted controller support (and refuse to patch it in). This game is actually poorly laid out on the keyboard and mouse in my opinion.

Also, why have a stereo 3d option and have it do nothing at all? /ermm.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':ermm:' />

Looks like this is just a quick fix. Another patch is forthcoming.

It sucks that PC games are rarely released with first day buyers in mind. I understand that you cannot find every bug in a game but a lot of the bugs being reported on the forums are too obvious to forgive. I will set this game aside until they patch it again.

In other news, I tried Mount and Blade in 3D today and it is fantastic. Tomb Raider Underworld as well. I guess I'll play these during the weekend.
