Refresh Rate for 3D Education Please Can you point me to a link to learn...instead of hours of trial
I'm trying to figure out the best refresh rate to maximize the gpu use and get the best video to the monitor.

For example, playing Need for Speed Shift.

In the NVidia control panel, my refresh rates are 60, 100, 110, and 120 hz. All of the work with the 3d test. In the game I've got a choice of 60 or 120 hz. Both seem to work 60 NV panel/60 Game and 120 panel/120 game. If the 3d game plays at 60 Control Panel and 60 Game, leave it there? I would presume the higher hz the more resources taken from the gpu.

Or do you always set the NV control panel at 120 and the game at 120?

or is something over-riding all this and setting it where it needs to be?

Or do you just experiment.....i'm just trying to cut down on some of the experimenting and see what the general rule of thumb is.

you have to set 120 Hz in order to run at full 3D.

Thanks and that's what I thought. However, the game (NFS shift) runs surround in 3d when the NV control panel has the monitors set at 60hz and I set the game internal refresh at 60hz. The game also runs fine when the NV control panel has the monitor (3 spanned) at 120hz and game internal controls set at 120hz.

I guess that's why the newer games set up differently and also have benchmarks to see how it runs.

I still don't understand the settings but can't complain as it runs.

3X480 and Planar 2311w, using 266.58 drivers, waiting for 280...
