Starship Troopers in stereo: is it possible?
Did anyone ever manage to run Starship Troopers in stereoscopy? I got it some days ago: stereoscopy worked fine in the first level (the space station and tutorial) and the second level (a night mission). But in the third level (a day mission) and the fourth level (another night mission), stereoscopy "almost" doesn't work. I say "almost" because fire and smoke are still rendered at the correct depth, but all the rest is a single image of the two that should be rendered. So, did anyone have any luck?

My specs: Pentium M @ 1.73 GHz; 512 MB RAM; GeForce Go 6200; ForceWare 78.01.

I've never played that game, but I think this is cause by a post-processing pass. The fact that you mention the day level starting the issue gets me thinking it may be an issue of a fullscreen quad used to render the post-processing effects (common trick used for HDR or other effects). Smoke and fire work on particle systems and could be done in another render pass (which is why they would be in 3d). You may be able to disable "post-processing", "hdr/glow", "depth of field" or other such advanced shader effects. This might help.

In COD4 there is a similar issue. The entire game (except for the gun) is in 2D on the default stereo setting. You must set the separation extremely high in order to make the 2 post-process layers move away from the screen (hold F6 for a long time). After that you can see the 3d. This might be the same thing thats happening on starship troopers.
