I cannot get 3D vision to work (again)

• When I first brought it home it installed fine & I played around with it in a few games.
• Now when I go to use it a week or so later, I have a hard time even getting any feedback.
• In-game shortcuts don't work.
• So I try the NVIDIA control panel for answers, but it won't open (a recurring problem for the last month or two)
• So I open up an admin'd task manager & kill all the NV processes a couple times & retry, since that's my established work-around for the control panel failure
• Control panel will now open, but there's no stereoscopic/3D vision settings in the index
• So I try the 'enable 3D vision' application in the nvidia folder, like the online faq suggests
• nothing
• no indication that it even attempted to do a thing
• the 3d relay's got a green light & the glasses are charged, btw
• So I try to run the setup wizard, since the control panel & official app have failed me
• nvsttest runs but isn't displaying anything in stereo3d, glasses turn off after a moment
• meanwhile nvstwiz states "This laptop's panel isn't qualified for 3D vision"
• It's an asus rog pg248q (not a laptop & it IS qualified)
• update to newest drivers
• nothing's changed
• uninstall everything & clean-install
• now nvsttest states 'Stereo is not enabled. Please enable stereo & restart the test.' & closes itself, otherwise nothing's changed
• Next up I try running 3dvision.exe inside C:\NVIDIA\DisplayDriver\384.76\Win8_Win7_64\International\NV3DVision
• it runs all the way through, then gives the "This laptop's panel isn't qualified.." message right at the end
• same result from the 378.78 folder I've got

So, why shouldn't I send this hunk of junk back? Is there a solution to the complete software failures I'm experiencing? Or is this piece of plastic as unusable as it seems?
I apologize for being short, this is frustrating.

This sounds like you need to clean out your graphics drivers and start again. Start with DDU, and clean it completely in safe mode then try the latest driver. https://www.wagnardsoft.com

Hello, Necropants is right. Display drivers getting corrupted is a common problem and DDU is recommended whenever you get issues like this. First delete the NVIDIA folder from C: then download Display Driver Uninstaller, boot in Safe Mode (otherwise the cleanup won't be done properly), run DDU and perform a Clean & Restart, boot normally into Windows and install the latest drivers again. Report back after you followed these steps.

Alright -re-downloaded a clean driver to my ssd rather than my crumbling/raid'd HDDs -uninstalled everything, which reset it back to the automatically-installed 378 drivers -deleted everything I could in the nvidia folder(s) (NVIDIA, NVIDIA corporation, NVIDIA corporation x86) -restarted in safemode -deleted the last remnant of the nvidia folders -ran DDU clean/restart -booted normally -installed 384.76 with 'clean install' checked & all options -restarted Well, control panel opened without issue at least, but there're no 3d vision options & 'enable 3d vision' still fails to give any feedback. nvsttest tells me to enable 3d nvstwiz tells me my laptop's panel is not qualified 3dvision.exe inside the NVIDIA folder runs through & gives me the same not qualified message Well, thanks for fixing my control panel at least, that's appreciated. Lemme see if I can scrounge an install disk or something around here, maybe the version that came with the product was over-writ by newer broken software.. -e No luck of course. Updated the monitor's drivers as well, no dice.

First of all there's no need to run any exe from anywhere. Everything is done from inside nVidia Control Panel and everything you need comes with the latest official nVidia drivers so if you tried to install something from any disk it will most likely break your drivers. You'll have to run DDU again and install the latest drivers, then take a screenshot from the Stereoscopic section in Control Panel and post it here if you can. It helps a lot to know how the section looks like to further identify the problem and not jump to any conclusions.

Yeah you really shouldn't run any of those EXEs directly... they're missing the parameters/arguments that need to be sent to them when run from the Control Panel, Shortcuts, or where ever they're supposed to be run from and doing so can have very mixed results. Did you change anything from the time it initially worked until it the time it stopped? eg changed cables, USB ports, etc? 3D Vision should show up regardless(for 3D Vision Discover) unless you're using a laptop that doesn't have a direct connection from the DP to the GPU, info here... scroll down to/or find(Ctrl+F) PART I.1 - LAPTOPS ONLY!!!. If it isn't connected directly to the GPU it's locked out somehow regardless of what external monitor is connected...

No hardware changes since, and it's straight from GPU to monitor. I've got my display running flipped now, (picture's rotated 180), in case that's relevant. Before I dropped off for the night the rep recommended a clean boot but didn't give any directions to follow afterwards, & I couldn't suss out the next step on my own. I'll see about bothering them/following up on that tonight. -e Having the monitor upside-down & rotating the output turned out to be the problem. Swapped back to the native orientation & the options reappeared, worked fine.
