HOLY CRAP! I can't believe how well this software works !! It's pretty amazing considering it's
doing the 3d in real time. Only watched 5 min of Star Wars Episode 2, pretty much one of the
worst movies ever made but Holliieeee Crap the 3d is impressive. Worth buying in my opinion,
especially if you like movies, have lots of dvds and love 3d !

EDIT: I'm using a DLP projector so there's literally zero noticable ghosting so then again
I'd recommend further testing on different displays before purchasing.

Woah, it's impressive but also seriously weird. I feel like I'm not watching the movie, but constantly guessing at how it's translating the scene into 3d. I think what it's doing is that anything that appears to be a translation over a static image is popped out.. So.. objects that move across a background pop, but if a scene is just a pan, everything is flat. It's a very weird way to watch a movie. What's really clever is that it hasn't done anything totally unnatural yet, it's just.. inconsistent and distracting.. I'm not sure if I want to use this..

Also, I think it's tilting the overall image towards us, making the bottom further away, and the top closer to us, making us feel like a 2-D image is sort of towering over us. It's an interesting psychological effect. It has no sensical meaning, but gives us a feeling of depth.

Either way, it is pretty clever. I just hate that it only works with DVDs.

Gee, this sounds a whole lot like the e-Dimensional Virtual FX 3D converter and shutter glasses for TV that I've been using for the last 6 months or so ...got used to it all real fast and don't watch any TV nowadays without running the video through this converter and using the wireless shutter glasses. Everything that's headed for your TV is processed: DVD player, VHS player, cable tuner - all standard programming, console gaming, anything you can get into an s-video format. Sports broadcasts are a real trip. Even commercials are halfway entertaining - lol!

Seriously, though, the e-Dimensional video 3D processor has several "modes" ...some of which do 'fold' and tilt part of the picture somewhat like you're describing, but not for the two "normal viewing" modes. Yes the amount of 3D "processing" does depend upon the relative movement between elements in the picture, just like you were thinking.

I may have found the answer to my problem. The supported hardware has removed my monitor. Here's the link: http://www.cyberlink.com/products/powerdvd...port_en_US.html Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

well just tried it on my acer h5360 .

Although some depth was there but very little, i Was expecting a little more .

However my graphics card is a 9500gt maybe a change of graphics card is needed ?

Was thinking of getting the gts250, do you think this card will be ok ? and also for 3d blu-ray when it comes out ?

I'm told you have to set the depth BEFORE you start the movie as you can't adjust it once playback has started. Haven't had a chance to set up the program and try it for myself, though - that's on the agenda for tonight. :)

As for the mixed reviews above, remember this is just the first incarnation of this software/process that we're seeing -- imagine how well this will work in the next version a year from now. :D Be it ever so imperfect, this is still a huge leap forward for us 3D-heads (stereoscopofiles? lol Is there a word for us yet?)

2D to 3D conversion is nothing special - based on the Pulfrich effect with one frame offset and distorting the frames. Moreover it only works on DVD Video content and not on other video clips... The 2D to 3D realtime Avisynth conversion script does pretty much the same with all media files and for free. Blu-ray 3D support is supposed to come later in the form of free update for the people that purchased PowerDVD 10.

Does that mean that we will not need a 3d blu-ray drive for the upcoming 3d blu-ray movies??

Yea hope i get it too. I got the upgrade version from 9 ultra to 10 ultra to save a few pennies.

Iam just debating if I should get a new card for the HTPC and which to get. I dont want to spend loads but want a goodish card that will play a game in basic mode and play all 3d includeing blu-ray 3d.

I know they said the gts240 supports it but not too sure if the gts250 does.

Doubt a new drive will be needed, I think if your drive is faster than 2x you should be ok, just look at the ps3 that supports it. If the drive is slow I wouldnt be suprised if the movie is buffered onto the hdd first so it can process and display fast.

There will be no new Blu-ray 3D drives for PCs, only standalone players as the integrated in the PC just need the right software player to understand the 3D content... no new hardware is needed, just software to understand the new 3D format and display it.

And the thing about GT 240 was meant as a card with comparable performance is needed as a minimum, not that you'll be able to play Blu-ray 3D movies only on it... so GTS 250 should be more than Ok and should be able to handle the increased load needed to decode the Blu-ray 3D content;)

Me too...is this the way its supposed to be? feels kind of weird..not like 3d games.

I tried it with a couple of DVDs and even with older ones like Blackadder which I thought would come out terrible when you enable the 3D effect worked quite well, I can't wait until actual 3D Blurays are released.

il have a try again see if problem is with something else.

I need to update to the latest cd release to see if that will help, maybe my graphics card needs an update.

BTW I tried xmen 2 for my test and only verylittle depth at certain times was visable.
