Do we know when the next 3D capable monitors are coming out?
So I really want to play 3D games, and a second monitor would be very useful for programming. There's a few problems though, which is why I want to know if there will be any better monitors coming out in the foreseeable future.
1. I would really like a monitor with an HDMI port aswell as a DVI-D port so I can plug my PS3/360 in (I realize this is possible with some sort of HDMI->DVI-D cable, but I don't really want to have to keep switching all my wires around).
2. A new PS3 game came out on Thursday called "Invincible Tiger" and it seems to have issues with 1680x1050 monitors because all of the current 3D monitors just stretch/squash the image to fit the screen (hence why I would like 1:1 pixel mapping).
3. Oh and it needs to be a normal monitor size, meaning 22"ish.
Also, this whole situation with 3D in console games is confusing me. I understand that the monitor may or may not be compatible with a console, but do we have any word on whether or not nVidia will be working with the console manufacturers to make their shutter glasses work? I've been burnt before being an early adopter, I don't wanna buy one of these expensive monitors now, and then find out I could've waited a month and gotten one that works with my PS3.
So, is there any word on a monitor that would fulfill my requests... or even better does one of the existing ones already do this (AFAIK there's only that Samsung one and the Viewsonic one)
PS I can't believe I couldn't find out whether or not the current models support 1:1 pixel mapping, it's a pretty important feature to some PC users.

I believe 3D Vision will always be a PC-only type of thing, as that's Nvidia's realm. If they released Invincible Tiger for PC I'm 100% sure it would be fine with 3D Vision, but chances are the Nvidia shutter glasses won't be able to work stand-alone with the future 3DTV standards without actually updating the glasses themselves (they'd have to be able to sync with an emitter made by a different company).
The way it will most likely work is that if it plays on PC, 3D Vision can play it (unless it uses anaglyph or a non-field-sequential technology). If it's a console-only thing, you'll probably need to invest in one of the shutter brands aimed at 3D TV that offer more than just PC compatibility. There's no way to actually hook up the 3D Vision emitter to a 360 or PS3, or a Blu-ray player for that matter, so there's no way the glasses can sync with anything but something playing from a PC, currently.

i can say that the viewsonic doesn't even have a menu... lol, no 1:1 on it! the only things you can adjust are the volume and brightness... but the moniter is really nice... The reason I bought this one over the samsung is because it was cheaper... i didn't want to wait for a bigger one to come out so i just bought this one to hold me over...

I haven't heard of anything coming out in the near future (ie before the end of the year) so if you want a 3D monitor you should pick one of the available choices. Unfortunately Invincible Tiger does not work with 3D PC monitors and it is highly unlikely a new monitor will come out that the game will magically support. Aside from the Samsung and Viewsonic 3D monitors you might also want to check out the Zalman Trimon. Its a very nice monitor for the price. In terms of console support its doubtful any of these monitors will ever work on the consoles. Most likely for that you will need one of the new 2010 HDTVs like from Sony or Panasonic. But I wouldn't hold out for that because as of today there is only *ONE* console game that works in stereo 3d versus the hundreds of games supported by Nvidia's 3D driver. Easy decision right there.

Hmmm, I think you guys have convinced me... now I just need to decide if I can wait until DX11 cards are released to get a new graphics card, I've only got a 8800GTS 512MB.
