The sky rendering error is the same as the one we saw with Fallout 3 New Vegas, IIRC. Someone had released a fix for that - I think - through a Fallout mods website. So perhaps it's easy to fix.
Meanwhile, Nvidia rep: can you please put in a request to disable this tedious "we're lowering your AA to 2x due to resource constraints" business? I think I as a user can make my own decision as to when I am "resource constrained." It happens in every game that's in 3D Surround mode regardless of horsepower used. And even if the constraint was real, I'd rather have 4x AA and lower other settings.

Unfortunately for me the game is totally unplayable in 3D Vision. I am surprised i am the only one with this issue.
ISSUE: In 3D, when entering a new area, the game really slows down to like 1 fps and i can hardly move my character though the audio seems to work just fine. I habe to disable 3d vision and wait for the game to get normal again. Same thing happens every time I enter a new area.
I am running windows 7 x64, a GTX570 with 8gigs of ram. core I5 @ 3.7 GHz so my hardware is not the issue here.

Anyone here running Skyrim in stereo on a single GTX460-1GB @ 1080p and can tell me what settings they can run and what FPS they get? Thanks.
Im using 2x 460's and i play with max everything but in 720p
I get 60 fps, but it drops to 58 often.
With just one card, its about 42 FPS, so 3D vision is quite optimised for this game.
I would expect that one 460 may give you abut 25fps at 1080p at full settings. so you probably should be expecting to lower your settings quite a bit to get good frame rates at 1080p.
that being said, im sat about 2 foot in ftont of a 60 inch projector screen and while id like some more resolution, its really not that bad. i cant imagine playing on a monitor at 720p being 'unbearable' so if its a choice between low settigns and 1080p or full settings and 720p, then id be going with the latter.

YoZJ has made a great fix for TES Oblivion to solve the problems with the skybox. Unfortunately he doesn't seem to be active in the forum any more (last post 2008)...? I have just placed the files of this fix in the folder [Skyrim installation folder]\Data\MESHES\. And it had some effects: now the clouds disappear and You see a clear sky. At least this is less disturbing than clouds at the wrong depth (compare http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=196204 ). But it also indicates that it should be possible to adapt this Oblivion fix for Skyrim. Unfortunately I have no experiences with modding nif files..
Is there anybody in this forum who knows how to extract Skyrim - Meshes.bsa and to modify the nif files for the sky?
does this completely remove the clouds and make a plain sky?
i.e. does it fix the sky, but basically remove it completely?
i think id prefer a featureless sky than the one that is quite literally 4 foot above me.
its quite funny, if i look directly up i can jump and my head tooches the sky mesh!
I can handle the water and the target - but the sky is making me consider not playing until a full fix is out.
I would settle for no sky at all, if it also had no depth.

i really dont c the sky as too much of a problem. maby me changing the .ini actually did work a bit because i certainly cant fathom touching the sky feels a lot further than that. or perhaps my depth is just shocking and im actually playing in 2d :P but all round this game absolutely rocks in 3d even with the problems and once the curser gets a fix this will be just as good The Witcher 2's 3d if not a Lil better.

I don't know much about this issue, but to me it sounds like a shortage of GPU memory. In surround mode, the memory footprint is much higher, and maybe that's what they mean with "resource constraints".
If that's the case, then the driver doesn't have a choice but to save memory by reducing AA (which, by the way, also costs a lot of memory, in fact for each MS buffer you need memory in the size of the full screen resolution).

Keep in mind when you turn off the sky, it's just blackness, so if it's day time it will feel like night.
SIDE NOTE
Also I hope Andrew gets the nvidia crosshair fixed by like tuesday since it breaks during combat in Skyrim.
