Problem with Quadro FX 1800
  2 / 2
MichelvanE,

You can 'force' the 190.62 3D driver install by unzipping the executable and clicking the various executables (NvStView.exe, nvUSBInst.exe) and right-clicking/installing the nvstereo.inf and nvstusb.inf files, if necessary. It's been awhile since I did this and getting everything to work properly was hit-or-miss. I had the same effect with my FX 3800 when using the 191.78 and 191.87 display drivers and the 191.00 3D Vision driver.

From my experience (and frequently suspect recollection), you need to use a 3D driver of about the same vintage for optimal results. The 191.00 driver id the only "Quadro" driver but you can use the old non-Quadro drivers too. I needed to completely uninstall the new display drivers and the 191.00 3D driver prior to installing the 190.58/190.62 combo. This post describes the settings I successfully used with the 190.58 OpenGL driver/190.38 3D Vision driver combo. There may other posts in here that apply to your situation as well.

The way you describe the stereo effect as drifting in and out is exactly what I experienced with most, if not all, of the Quadro drivers downloaded from the Download Drivers page. Searching Nvidia for "OpenGL" is how I discovered the OpenGL 3.0/3.1/3.2 driver page and installing the 190.57 driver on a whim was the first driver that gave me stability and decent stereo for my particular apps. When 190.58 came out, I installed that and have been reasonably happy ever since. Not sure why Nvidia doesn't promote this option on their 3D Vision for Quadro page. In fact, they don't even link to it on their main 3D Vision page anymore, you have to go to System Requirements to see that there's even a Quadro card option. Quadro and stereo just don't seem to be worth the effort, I guess. /confused.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

In any event, I'm sure you can get good 3D with your FX 580 but it might take some trial-and-error to get everything working properly. FWIW, I'm NOT using the stereo connector (mini-DIN cable) that Nvidia says you need, only the emitter and a 120Hz refresh rate.. Also, make sure the battery in the glasses is charged and there's a clear line-of-sight between the glasses and emitter - all things I suspect you're well aware of, but, again, just in case.... The 3D settings you may need to change in your Global Setting -> Base Profile are "Force stereo shuttering" to ON, the "Buffer flipping mode" to "Use block transfer", and the "Triple buffering"/"Vertcal sync" to OFF. Good luck!

Hello MichelvanE ,Biglars

MichelvanE ,my fx580 had the same problems before i flashed the vbios.
you could try flashing your card with the hp vbios.
you should also try some older drivers.
Like i said in another post the 191.00 quadro driver (fx3700 and fx4600) worked best for the software i use at work ,
anything newer i got synch problems with our 3dvision setups ( but no problems with our crt zscreen setups).
I have been using the 196.75 quadro driver since it was realeased without problems ,
the best driver so far ,stable and a little faster than the older drivers .
(did a dirty install just installed it without removing the older driver)
No fan speed problems ,so i did not revert to older driver.
just waiting the next driver release.

Regards

Hey BigLars & Bigben,

Guys, thanks a lot for your efforts to get me further.
This afternoon I decided to flash the card with the HP bios. It took me quite some time to figure everything out (bootable USB stick etc) but at the end the flash was succesful. Unfortunately it didn't change a thing ... /yucky.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':yucky:' />

So what I'll do now is taking all stuff home and try it on a different PC.
I have also informed my hardware supplier but don't expect too much from them. Of course it could be one of the other components (glasses / monitor) but it's hard to tell now.

I'll let you guys now if I fix it later ...

Thanks again for all the hints and info!

Michel

Sure, here it is. What are you going to use it for? Do you have similar problems?

I have probably similar problem. At power on of the computer the monitor begins to blink (0.5s ON, 1s OFF), while the card will not be switched in a graphic mode.

New BIOS hasn't solved this problem :(

hello Rloc ,looks more like a defective screen than a vbios problem.

I have been testing the new quadro driver 197.03 for a few hours so far no problem.
(dirty install , only video driver wihout removing old driver, no new "3d vision driver")

Biglars , there is a new opengl driver 197.15 http://developer.nvidia.com/object/opengl_driver.html.

" I get different results depending on whether I'm logged in as a regular user or as an administrator"
Ever tried to give the same file acces on the system drive to the regular user(full control) as for the administrator.
We had some issues with our software until we changed the permissioncs on the system drive.

regards.

Hello all,
Just found an easy way to get vbios updates just go to an hp workstation support page, you will find everithing needed.

e.g. HP Z600 Workstation
Download drivers and software page http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechS...p;swEnvOID=1093

Currently using driver 197.28 for quadro (xp).
- looks faster and smoother than previous version.
-almost no ghosting

Hi guys,

I solved my problems
I decided to do one clean install with the latest version (197.03) of both USB and QUADRO driver. Then in the BASE settings of the 3D settings I set:

transfer mode: BLOCK TRANSFER
force shutter: ON
stereo ON
NVidia USB transmitter

And then ... it worked .. and I must say that it works very well. Good stereo, not much ghosting on the ACER 23"

Hope this might help you ...
