thanks for all the tips on getting this game to run acceptably in 3d. It looks really good except for the flashing face texture that has been discussed. I am mostly playing as a Ranger so I use the bow for most of my encounters. The aiming cursor unfortunately does not align correctly so that is a slight hinderance to playing in 3d as an archer. Since the game auto-aims for archery it isn't too big of deal unless you want to go into sniper mode.

I also hope that an official profile is released by Nvidia in the next driver release. Maybe they'll release something when the north american version releases in January.

Just as a side note, the mini dice game looks incredible with 3d on!

Haha yeah that and lockpicking look as if they were designed for 3d-vision :P

[s]I think I'm after hammering down where the white flashing faces come from

Open up the Dragon rising profile with the Nvidia Inspector program and fiddle about with "Texture Filtering" options.

Jacking LOD-bias up to the positive values seems to outright cure it, but for the moment Im testing the other options in texture filtering since a positive lod-bias can end up making the game look gimpy.

At the moment my settings are:

User Defined/Off
16x
Off
Off
0
Allow
High Quality
On

Gonna keep fiddling about with combinations till I find the definite fix, though the trilinear optimization option set to ON seems to help a lot.
Again I could just be fooling myself but I really think the flashes have almost disappeared after this tinkering.
--Update-- No idea why the flashes are back now. My process of attack has been to save at a point where the flashes occur, and reload that save after I change a setting. Sad panda[/s]

I give up! The frequency at which you get white flashes seems to be randomly determined upon loading a game. All the tweaking in the world isn't going to help me if I can't reproduce this bug with 100% accuracy. e.g. you could load a game where you saved at a scene with faces flickering.

Re-load 1: No faces flickering.
Re-load 2: Faces flickering.

Hi there, regards from Germany, the land of F1 world champions.

I tried the following:

rename the TwoWorlds2.exe to RE5DX9.exe ( Resident Evil 5 ). Most shadows are Ok. Gives a nice 3D Image. Your hero is before your screen. No White face-flickering.
But I have flickering on the right eye of the NVIDIA-glasses. Let me know, if I´m the only one.
I must run down to the lowest 3D-Depth-amount-setting.

In the console I load the following *.txt file:

Load: @3.txt for bright places like the savanna.

//für re5dx9.exe
// Shows FPS
Display.FPS 1
Engine.UseDOF 1
// Toggles global HDR
Engine.HDR 1
// Toggles ALL shadows
Engine.Shadows 1
// Changes the mode of shadow rendering. 0 means LSP rendering, 1 means trapezoidal shadow maps
Engine.TShadows 1
// Toggles smooth shadows
Engine.StencilShadows 1
Engine.EdgeAABlend 1
Engine.MaxAnisotrophy 16
Engine.GrassUserDistance 1.5
Engine.GrassUserMultiplier 10
Engine.GrassDisplace 10
Engine.ShowPhysX 1
Engine.DstFarPlane 12000
Engine.FarPlane 2400
Engine.SSAORadius 100
Engine.BloomMultiplier 0.1
Engine.BloomAdderA 0.1
Engine.BloomAdderB 0.1

HDR on off makes a huge difference in lightning.

I also use for the Bloom effect in my 4.txt file the following parameters for dungeons and other dark places:

Engine.BloomMultiplier 1
Engine.BloomAdderA 1
Engine.BloomAdderB 1

Sometimes I turn off the HDR-Effect by just typing: Engine.HDR 0 in the console

Hi Santi65,

I tried that exe before but found that it introduces a lot more artifacts than its worth. It works absolutely great for roaming the savannah, but when night-time comes or if you go dungeon crawling (basically any low-light situation) then you get walls and character ghosts flying towards you as there is a bug with how torches and other light-sources react to 3d-vision.

First situation you'll encounter it (even with your text-file fix applied) is at the very very very start of the game where you run down the sewer towards dar-pha. You'll notice anytime you come near a light-source the walls become start gliding towards you. Same thing happens if you are near an NPC holding a torch.

I dont get any flickering on the right eye though.
Do you experience the problem I mentioned above? What hardware/drivers are you using?

Also: does anybody know what those yellow star icons mean in the stats of all items/weapons/armor?

Hi Dracomd,

with the ofdr.exe i cant raise the 3D depth-amount. so I have almost no depth effect. further on most shadows are not correct. Each eye has a complete different shadow and often the shadows seem to appear at the depth-niveau of the screen. So for me it is not worth to play it in 3D. so I would better turn back to 2D

With the re5dx9.exe I have a great 3D-deptheffect that is worth playing it. Sun-shadows are ok. I can work around them with the Parameters: Engine.DstFarPlane 12000 and engine.FarPlane 2400 ( very difficult parameter because it causes hole in the sea looking down the lighthouse.
But yes you are right... in very dark situations I have to turn off HDR, because I can´t see anything even with the torch. An yes those ghosty effects are there but they disappear as you come nearer to them.

My Hardware:
Intel i7 920 oc to 3600 MHz
6GB Corsair Dominator 2000 MHz running at 1800 MHz
ASUS P6T6 WS Revolution
2x Nvidia GTX285 from Palit with each 2 GB Ram
Screen ASUS VG 236
Driver Graphics 8.17.12.6099 ( 260.99 )

Wow lots of work on 2W2, nice!

I've tried the ofdr.exe trick but strangely I didn't get much of an improvement, not even after using all those console commands, I still got horrible shadow/ghost thing, I don't know how to describe it. What did work however was using witcher.exe, it got rid of most artifacts and I could use high depth / convergence settings with some minor problems here and there. I'll give a try with re5dx9 to see how it works, thanks everyone for all your efforts!

I tried both ofdr.exe Re5dx10/RE5DX9.exe.

On Resident evil profiles I see a lot of ghosting and some weird haloes which I don't see in ofdr.exe and witcher.exe.
However in every above tested profiles I didn't see any improvement in shadow rendering, meaning the shadows rendered only from one point of view(not stereo) which is very annoying.
Is there a way to make the shadows more transparent? to modify the transparency of the shadows? I know about Engine.Shadows 0 which disables them ..but then the world seems so...unreal...
Currenlty from my point of view "witcher.exe" profile is the best. Playing on Quad-SLI 2xGtx295 with 70% depth.

Thanks in advance.

"Witcher.exe" works much better for me! Even fixed the double image in dialogue sequences with HDR On.
Shadows are 2D though.
And still getting the flickering white faces in time to time... everything else look awesome.

Thanks!
