Nvidia Vision Monitor stays in 3D mode when exiting an 3D application

Sorry, I do not know the answer to that question. The option like I've said seemed to be hit and miss between driver versions. It may be related to the various displays and formats that I've used. I never really kept track or tried to deduce why it would sometimes work, get greyed out or sometimes disappear. Like I've said, the article at 3D Vision Blog is the only thing I've seen discussing the feature. see the full article at http://3dvision-blog.com/6109-when-and-how-you-can-use-the-3d-vision-windowed-3d-mode/ The following is an excerpt from Bloody's 3D Vision Blog. Opening the Nvidia control panel you should navigate to the Stereoscopic 3D settings and you should see the “Select when the display is in 3D mode:” dropdown box where you actually select the active mode – windowed 3D or not. In the dropdown box you have three different options: “Always”, “Only while 3D programs run” and “Only while full-screen 3D programs run”. With the first two options you will have the Windowed 3D mode active, although you will need to have a 3D application running in order to have the IR emitter and the shutter glasses active and with the third option you will not have the Windowed 3D mode available. The difference between the Always On and the Only while 3D programs run modes is that with the first one the monitor is always in its 3D state (locked to maximum brightness) while at the second mode it switches to it only when you run a compatible 3D application in a window. It is possible that in the control panel you can se that there is no such dropdown box as described above or that the dropdown menu is grayed out (not active), and there is a reason for that as there are some limitations to the Windowed 3D mode as I’ve already mentioned. The most likely reason is that you have SLI setup using two or more GPUs as the Windowed 3D mode does not yet support SLI for 3D games and applications, although you can watch 3DVisionLive.com and YouTube 3D content in a window even with SLI (driver version 285.27 or later is required for this to work).

Unfortunately I have to bring from the dead this thread. Running 355.60 and I when I first saw that monitor is stuck on 3D mode I was really surprised! Then I remembered that there was same issue with previous drivers and here I am. I've started a new thread but O F C no reply , especially from the guys who release drivers aka Nvidia employees.. Only solution for me now is to change back & forth resolution or disable via CP and then run a game (changing res is ofc much easier and quicker). Anyone else ?

You can place a jps file on your desktop and just open and close it. The photo viewer seems to close out without any issues and is a pretty simple option. If you need a jps file, just get one from the test images that Nvidia installs with the driver. This only seems to happen with certain games and has been a problem for years. Sometimes, you can hit ctrl+alt+delete and see that the process for the game is still running and closing it will return things to normal. Also you can use this inf that was uploaded as a jps file. Because it's not an actual JPS file, the Nvidia photo viewer will open, but not initialize 3D, thus 3D will be turned off. Thanks but I've done all provided suggestions like that one. Something has to do with 3D driver, and maybe with specific display models ids like this one. Monitor should change from "1080p 120hz 3D" to "1080 120hz"I close any game, simple as it was doing it with previous set of drivers.. and the purpose now it's not try to "trick" driver or/and monitor. It's for Nvidia to FIX it.
