considering the Draper luna radiant high contrast projector screen, even in a dark room, is the high contrast just better to maintain dark blacks? will the overall spectrum suffer? will it be too dim?
both standard and high contrast versions of this have a gain of 2.9

well the high contrast is usually if the projector has a low lumen output.. How many lumens is the projector..
Grey screens are usually used to help keep the blacks black..
I wouldn't recommend it. "High contrast" here means the image can better maintain the projector's native contrast in ambient light. An accurate name would be "higher contrast in poor lighting conditions." In a dark room it would actually hurt the image, as you suspect.
