3D Vision + OpenGl 3D Vision Drivers OGL compatible
1 / 2
Hi all of Nvidia 3D team,
I've read that there's a planned release on Spring 2009 of a driver for 3D Vision which will make OpenGl 3D professional applications compatible with the 3D system.
In the research group where I work we need to test our active stereo application (which is developed in OGL) before July, because we need to show a demo of our system to an enterprise that has purchased our services.
We would know if there is a more accurate date for the driver's launch or wether there is a beta version of it which we could test.

You'll never get answer for this around here. Whether you can find out by phoning Nvidia directly i don't know, but if you want to be absolutely sure you can demo it by this deadline i might suggest getting an IZ3D monitor or something compatible with their driver as it supports opengls quad buffer for S3D.

Yeah. Iz3d's support dominates Nvidia's. It's hilarious actually.
Nvidia being the major corporation that they are. You would think it would be
within their strategy to provide outstanding customer support.

By the way: BlackQ on the IZ3D forums gave a tip that might work, even for nvidiadrivers. It's an opengl to directx wrapper. I tried it with Prey without any luck though. It might work with your own apps if you watch your programming a tad.

Hi Andrew,
Thank you for your comment. Does this driver will be available for XP and Vista? And do you have an idea of the date of availability of this driver?
Thank you in advance
The 186.18 driver is available now from the Driver Download page here. You'll also need the emitter usb and stereo drivers, which you can download from the same location, (or just go here). If you're using XP, you can extract (unzip) the "nvstereo.inf" and nvstusb.inf" and install them by right-clicking each and selecting "Install", otherwise the executable will fail when it detects XP. Reboot, and hopefully your emitter is detected and glowing like the Incredible Hulk's eyes. The only things you should have to set in the Contro Panel's "3D Settings"->"Manage 3D Settings" are:
Stereo - Display mode = Generic active stereo (with NVIDIA IR Emitter)
Stereo - Enable = On
I have those values for both the "Global Settings" tab and the "Program Settings" tab and have no issues viewing stereo in either XP or Vista. If that doesn't get you there, let me know. This was a trial-and-error process and there may be another thing or two you need to do. Good luck!!

I'm trying to configure it like BigLars says and in my manage 3D Settings tab there is no such options to be set.
I've got two GTX 280 and this is the screenshots from my nvidia control panel and the system info of my drivers:

I think that might only be for the Quadro cards and not the gaming GPUs.

Are you saying that the newest 3d vision drivers support opengl games in 3d, or that the drivers that are to be released soon will?
