3d Vision does not work, Please help Mitsubishi DLP 60738
  1 / 2
Hello everyone,
I have a problem getting my 3d Vision to work with my computer. I have had simular problems and I know what the problem is but I just cant seem to get Nvidia setup wizard to quit automatically resizing my resolution.

My computer specs...
Crosshair V Formula 990FX motherboard with 8 core FX 3.6 ghz processor.
2 sli Geforce 560ti
16 gigs ram

I have had this same problem before rigging up my radeons to push 3d graphics and now it is doing it with my Nvidia. I have a mitsubishi 60738 60" DLP TV. With the full Nvidia 3d vision set setup correctly. IR emmitor is connected to the TV and then ran to my usb on my computer. The problem is I set my display to a custom resolution so it will fit my full screen with no scaleing. Because as I know if you have any scaling or it resizes while you are watching 3d it will not work period. The problem is when I use the 3d vision Wizard it automatically resizes to 1080p which will expand further than my display on screen. And this is a different display then what I set in the control panel. How can I make the wizard quit resizing my screen resolution? This is rediculous if I cannot get my 3d working simply because Nvidia is to stupid to not make there application automatically resize screen resolution. Think about us checkerboard users!

Judging by your azz kicking system, I venture a guess that you have Windows 7 x64.. Have you set the display to your mitsubishi in the windows control panel? (Not Nvidia control panel, you said you have already set it as your display in there, correct?) Right click on the desktop and choose screen resolution and set the Mitsubishi as your display. Since you are having issues, set it as your only display (Do not duplicate it)and choose a resolution that is native to your Mitsubishi. You have the latest drivers as well correct?

Well here is a screenshot of all the information that I believe you will need to be able to see my full setup. Acoording to what you are telling me it might be because I have my display driver at PNP monitor? Is this correct, do I need to find a driver specifically for my mitsubishi? If this is correct then it does make sense and I looked past this point. I just do not know were I could find computer drivers for my mitsubishi.

I have a DLP mitsubishi, The refresh rate will only go to 60hz but in when I turn my tv to 3d mode it will do 60hz by 60hz automatically. I cannot change this.

Hi, just to clarify, the problem arises when you try to configure the 3d Vision kit and the screen resizes on your mitsubishi and you cannot see the options to complete the wizard correct?

Your custom resolution may be the issue it is possible that you may need to set a resolution for the initial set up of your 3d vision kit that both your TV and Nvidia control panel can deal with. Set it in your Windows control panel. You can try to change it back to what you like after the setup wizard is complete. Also, are you setting the TV to 3d mode before you do the setup wizard?

The 3D format of checkerboard is only broken if it is rescaled during post processing once the video signal has left the GPU.

The 60738 does not show up on the consumer 3D Vision supported list, although it is listed on the pro list. http://www.nvidia.com/object/3d-vision-displays.html

Some of the older Mitsubishi TVs required an additional firmware update, perhaps that is the problem? http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=193138

Maybe an EDID override would do the trick?

Alright I have tried the EDID override, I dont know if I got it correct but now my computer diplay driver is set to MS Override EDID.

Alright I will explain how my full 3d setup is done as of right now.
I have my Nvidia IR adaptor connected to my usb port on my computer, then I have the 3 pin connected directly to the back of my tv. I have my tv set to checkerboard.

I have tried all my other configures like changing my tv to automatic, side by side, and top and bottom. I know the issue has to do with the resizing of resolution. As mentioned before it has done the same thing when I was setting up my display on other devices and another computer. I tried to set the same display as the wizard changes to but I cannot figure out which exactly it does. I set it to 1024x768 no luck. It's really just my nvidia 3d glasses do not turn on, I know its supposed to get dimmer when they are connected and they do not do so. I have tried to get around the wizard by guessing and finishing the exercise but even then it does not do 3d. My glasses will not sync. Could this be because I do not have the IR emmitor connected straight to my computer? or because my hdmi cord is being connected using a DVI output from my graphic card? Think it would fix anything If I used a mini hdmi cable to regular hdmi?

P.S. I have the latest firmware for my t.v. 12.08. I had to do this to get my 3d to work on other devices as well.

I see, if it is only that the glasses will not activate, I believe that wireless glasses activate upon receiving IR signal from the emitter. If the IR emitter is not transmitting the galsses do not turn on.

Look in your Device Manager (Start button, right click on computer and choose manage) and then click Device Manager.

Expand Universal Serial Bus Controllers.

Do you See the NVIDIA Stereoscopic 3D USB Controller listed there? If not, you need its driver. It didnt come with the Nvidia driver for me, I had to download it separately and install.

Do you see anything in there that doesn't look properly installed?

As for the resolution I am not sure but try 1280x720, I have read a couple of things about 3d vision preferring it sometimes.

Also, I have been reading about issues using HDMI 1.3 vs. 1.4 etc. You may have to try both. Also, can the IR emitter connect via USB to make it connect solely into your TV? (Sorry I have a projector, I am inexperienced with your setup)
The DVI to HDMI conversion should not prove an issue here. If you can see your computer screen on your TV you are good.

I have the emitter drivers installed correctly and I see the emitter in my devices when I click Start>Devices and Printers. I think I am just going to give up, I have done 3d before with this setup and I have even rigged my radeon to push 3d, pretty sad when I actually buy a 3d product with a 3d graphic card and it will not produce 3d. Sells gimmit, I will just ship it back and get my money back.

That is unfortunate. It must be an issue somewhere in your setup or simply DOA hardware. I just got mine over a week ago, and I am so impressed. I would try everything to get it working, and RMA the kit for a new one in case it is in fact simly a DOA emitter or glasses. Sorry that none of my troubleshooting yielded results for you. If you have used 3d vision before though, you know it is worth it :)
Let me know if I can help further if you decide not to throw in the towel :)

Yeah I cant give up, I have been working even harder on it and now I am certain that I have my display driver right because it shows mitsubishi. I also get the game a game go into 3d mode were it is all blurry and the frame rate is 24. But my glasses still do not turn on. So If I can figure out how to get my glasses to sync correctly then I should be good to go. I should have the right drivers on it, version 296.10. I have done many searches and as it shows, the 3d play or whatever comes with it, my adapter does connect to the computer when I switch usb ports then it does show up as Nvidia 3d adaptor or whatever. I can also see it in my devices. My glasses just dont seem to want to sync. Any suggestions?

p.s. I tried to connect my adapter to the usb in the back of my tv but it flashes red. probably because my tv does not have the drivers loaded to it. But when I connect it to my pc. the light is solid green.

I believe that DLP TVs require 1080p signals for 3D to work. Custom resolutions will not work. This is why the nvidia driver always changes your resolution to 1080p when it goes into 3D mode.
Does the 3D test pattern work when you go through the setup?

To clarify what I meant, it has to be 1080p for checkerboard to work. If you are getting a 24Hz refresh rate you are probably in the dreaded frame packing mode. When you run the setup wizard does it mention 3DTV Play or 3D Vision and does it tell you you can use the TV manufacturere's 3D glasses? If it does than that is 3DTV Play.

I'm unsure of how some of those older DLP 3D TVs worked with 3D Vision. I know they required a 3D converter for use with a Blu-ray player, maybe that's the case with 3D Vision? No idea if it's needed, Mitsubishi 3DA-1 3D Adapter. Some of those early DLP TVs had low native resolutions and used wobulation to achieve higher resolutions, as I recall. Maybe you could get it to work using rollermod.
