Call of Duty Black Ops in 3D (Everthing you wanted to know)
  2 / 8
damn this game will look good in 3D if i can get it sorted but as it stands right now its unplayable. gpu usage is around 40% on a gtx 480 and the framerate drops to low 20's a LOT. tried the latest 1.38 cd and the new 262.99 with modded inf and still no joy, other games have no problems either like mafia 2, lost planet 2, just cause 2 etc etc, i mean even metro 2033 is performing better in 3D for me than this game right now /shock.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Andrew, you said this game supports game pad. Well, I can't make my Xbox 360 wireless joystick to work with this game. I know usually COD PC versions usually don't have native support for joysticks, but it's nice to hear that Black Ops supports the use of gamepad now that we can use 3DTV Play and keyboard e mouse is not the idea with 3DTV Play. Well, I really can't find an option to enable the wireless joy. Somehow I can only make 2 buttons from my joystick to work with this game, all the rest doesn't seem to work.

Hi All

I wanted to provide a quick update on using Black Ops with 3DTV Play.

We have encountered a bug when you zoom with a gun (iron sights mode) that causes the bottom half of the screen to get corrupted and look blurry. This does not affect 3D Vision LCDs.

We are aware of the issue and are investigating a fix.
Thanks for the post Andrew. It would be great to make this type of a post a regular thing! I just ordered my 2 new 580's this morning...

Re 3DTV Play bug, awesome - was going to report this. I've been playing it fine on my LCD instead while I wait for 3DTV Play fix.

One thing about controller support, it doesn't work in the main menu which is really a bizarre choice - the 'enable controller' option in the game even notes that the controller only works in game. I wonder why they did that?

Edit: francomg, the same thing happened with Dead Rising 2 - no wireless controller support, only wired. Hopefully they'll patch in support.

Hi All

I wanted to start a thread on all info I can provide on Call of Duty Black Ops with 3D Vision.

Drivers
We recommend all users upgrade to the CD kit v1.38 which includes GPU driver 260.99 and 3D Vision Controller driver 260.99. These drivers have the latest profiles. All newer drivers should have equal or better settings for 3D Vision.

Note that GTX 580 users now have GPU drivers 262.99. You can use 3D Vision Controller driver 260.99 with this GPU. We will also relesae a new 3D Vision Controller driver tomorrow.

3D Vision Support
3D Vision is fully supported in this game. There should be no graphical issues with this game.

3DTV Play Support
This game also works with 3D TVs using 3DTV Play software. So give it a try! One positive thing as well is that Black Ops now supports game pads on the PC, so it makes gaming from your couch even better with a PC!

NVIDIA Surround Support
Currently the game does support 2D Surround in Portait mode. Currently Call of Duty Black Ops does not have a FOV adjustment for 3D Vision Surround landscape mode. I dont have any more details other than that to provide users.

In-Game Convergence
Yes, some of you have figured out how to adjust it. Convergence settings are decided by the developer and they determine the end user settings to allow. You can read more here on how to fix it http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=185118

Other than that, have fun and feel free to ask me any questions.
Why did I buy 3 monitors and 2 gtx 480s if I can't even play a 3D Vision Ready game in surround? What's the point of releasing surround tech if your not even supporting it anymore? Maybe it should be rated "kinda 3D vision ready, but not really" Will there be an FOV fix or should I just return the game before I open it?

So, there's no support for wireless joystick is that right, only wired? Can anyone confirm this for me? One of the main reasons I didn't play Dead Rising 2 is because it doesn't support wireless joy and this type of game is not very playable with keyboard and mouse for me. COD Black Ops being a 1st shooter person game I definatelly prefer keyboard and mouse, but to try it out with 3DTV Play, I definatelly need support for my wireless joystick. It's just stupid that it doesn't work with a wireless Xbox gamepad considering 3DTV Play is out. lame!!!!!!

I really don't understand why we are dumb enough to spend money with high-end video cards if the game industry doesn't give a damn about that and they all make games for consoles. Crytek might be the only exception. I'm really looking foward for Crysis 2 release cause I know how inovative Crytek folks are. I'm very very disapointed with COD Black Ops, I really thought this time call of duty series would take a step foward, but they didn't at all, it's the same crapy engine they've been using for the last 4 years. Please, correct me If I'm wrong.

It's the same graphics, same effects, same explosions, same crap!!!!! I paid 59 dollars for a game that looks like a 2007 title. That's just lame!!!!!! I freaking hate console ports, it's always the same, they don't wanna change, it's all about money, greed industry. The worst part is that everyone buys the game and it's a gonna be the game of the year, so they don't really care about changing anything. Just make new scenarios, new story, and people will like it.
In 3D it's almost the same thing as in 2D like all other COD's games, only depth, the textures are horrible, console like. They call it 3D ready game cause you have the in game 3D crosshair, all the rest is exactly the same as MW2 and WAW. It's all about marketing.

We don't need 480's, 580's, expensive high end machines. Just get a PS3, that's what we need. I really hope Crysis 2 makes us use our hardware for god sake. I'm through with COD series, can't stand their lack of inovation.

Hi

What do you mean by special treatment?

Andrew while we have you front and center maybe you could give us any news on possible updates/fixes for Lost Planet 2? When it works its by far and away the best tech demo you could have for 3D vision but the rub is, it don't always work /mad.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

The game looks brilliant in 3d, really is my new game to show off now. Only two issues I saw was in one of the early levels when you use the slingshot the crosshair is 2d, and also sometimes I get that problem of objects like walls disappering when they are on the edge on the sceen. Nothing big, like I said the game looks awesome props to treyarch and all those involved.

So, there's no support for wireless joystick is that right, only wired? Can anyone confirm this for me? One of the main reasons I didn't play Dead Rising 2 is because it doesn't support wireless joy and this type of game is not very playable with keyboard and mouse for me.
I have the 360 wireless receiver and my wireless controller works. The thing is that it didn't work in Dead Rising 2. Correct me if I'm wrong, but from what I understand Microsoft released a few different hardware models of the receiver and when developers code-in support they don't always support all versions. I've noted it happen in other games like Assassins Creed, Splinter Cell, and a couple of others I can't remember off the top of my head ... it's really frustrating and I blame it on a miscommunication on Microsoft's part.

You can always use something like pinnacle game profiler (there are also other free alternatives) ... I know it's not the same, but it's a solution.
