120Hz, or 3D "Ready" 120Hz?
Is Nvidia's 3DVision supposed to work with 120Hz LCDs in general, or "3D Ready" sets? What's the difference between the two? If NVIDIA is handling all the 3D processing, what does a 3D TV do?

I'm interested in this as well. I want to get a 580 sli system going with a Samsung 27" 120hz LCD, S27a950D... which is not 3d Vision "supported". It is a true 120hz monitor so it should technically work... right? Does not supported mean it flat out won't work or nVidia just won't help troubleshoot issues with it?

TriDef supports this monitor, but they do not support SLI. Which makes it useless for my purposes. But I do want a 27" 120hz monitor, and as far as I know there's nothing besides the Samsung. So if I can use it for 3D vision that'd be great, but if not I might have to consider going Crossfire instead. TriDef seems to have better support for ATI

I wasn't aware. First pass it seems it's not quite up to par with the Samsung though. I've never had much faith in Acer, maybe I'm biased. I feel like I have to pick between the monitor I want or the video card I want. nVidia doesn't like this Samsung monitor, and I don't really like Acer.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but i belive the only requirement are the 120hz (minimum) probabily the 3D Video ready is just a marketing game, same as the SLI Ready on Power supplies

No it has to be on NVidias compatibility list.
It means NVidia has added it to the list of monitors in it's drivers. If not it won't be recognized and you will not be able to enable 3D.
Ask the many projector buyers who are having to hack inf files or connect through VGA to get there "3D Ready" projectors to work.

I believe they charge the display manufacturers for the privilege, though I'm only going on rumors.
