Ok i have just finished RE5 on the PC and i can confirm that even though it is locked the game does look very hot (but your eyes hurt a little at 100%) yeah there is ghosting but to be honest after 5 mins it goes away, except against bright back ground you see it.
Fighting the bosses in 3D is something and the detail in the graphics is unreal - ok i prefered batman it is true the effects seem to be better (eye of the beholder??) but in no way should RE5 be dismissed, in Capcoms defense there is a LOT of cut scenes and i understand why they did what they did, it would be too frustrating changing convergence every 5 mins. It would have been nice to give us the option of the fixed or change it yourself and of course everyone would be happy and i hope in a new patch it will come.
Dont hesitate buy it i assure it's worth it, it's not quite the holy 3D grail we have been waiting for, but the futures bright, the futures 3D....
Nvidia said they were working on unlocking the convergence i believe , in time .
But in all honesty , when you have your setup working good , the game looks absolutely beautiful.
All right i'll buy it today then.
The game also has auto depth control, at least when it comes to scopes. If you use the sniper scope it auto corrects the depth, but when you go back to normal the game depth goes back to whatever you set it at.
AND the intro FMV is in 3D as well as the menu's etc.
Yes the lack of convergence is slightly annoying, but the fact is this game looks great in 3D, everything works perfect in 3D, and there is no issues at all with anything.
I'd rather have a flawless 3D experience than a buggy one with convergence controls.

I agree with you!!! RE5 looks astonishing in 3D, it's so beautiful and realistic. What do you guys mean by CG, I don't get that????
It lacks convergance but the 3D experience is great cause the whole game was made in S3D. Batman for example is amazing in 3D, it has great convergance control and it's very realistic 3D experience although all Batman's cut scenes and presentation are all in 2D. So yes, it makes sense Capcom blocking convergance because all RE5 cut scenes are actually in 3D instead of 2D.
I'll definatelly play RE5 in 3D a lot, I already have the game installed in my PC but first I need to finish Batman and the game is so much fun that I haven't played any other game these last days.

I just tested and indeed RE5 looks amazing.
The game seems to also work very well with the iz3d driver, the only difference is that the videos at the beginning of the game do not work (you can see the L|R videos side by side) and you have to activate the lasersight manually in the game config.ini file since the game does not detect the nvidia driver.
iz3d allows to change convergence but even then there is very little stuff jumping out of the screen (unless you jack up the convergence like crazy but it gives me headaches). I've only seen one or two cinematics where a few little elements were really in the "out of screen" area by about an inch or two. In the end the game looks better when using approximately the same convergence as the one set by nvidia (everything in depth)

Agreed, what is worse is all the fake hype promoted about the 3D effects, that are poor compared to many other games such as SHIFT and many other older games, or especially BATMAN which deserves the hype for its fantastic effects both physx and 3D. The RE5 hype and reality are ridiculously different, what happened? Any chance CAPCOM did not want their game to be seen as a nvidia 3D only/better game or maybe ATI dropped some money to cripple 3D vision as obviously a CAPCOM problem

Yeah the 3D effects is all f*cked up if you asked me but what really annoys me is the unbelievable lousy controls one has over the character. Just found out that when driving the boat it becomes superannoying not to be able to look around freely. And the WSAD buttons sometimes exchange function with eachother!

 No probably not.
The convergence is locked because that is how Capcom wanted the game to be presented. I would have personally changed the convergence a bit to allow a little more pop-out, but Capcom did a great job keeping every cinematic and every part of gameplay looking great in 3d. I figure they wanted to lock convergence so that the game would look how it is supposed to look. I am never for removing control from the consumer, but I can see why Capcom did it. They obviously spent some time making the game looking great in 3d in all aspects, and so I can see why they locked convergence. They were just a bit conservative with the convergence is all.
If the convergence seriously renders the game unplayable to the point where you can't enjoy it, then you can always wait until nV works out a solution with Capcom on the convergence.

I honestly don't think it s just Capcom that locked the convergence, but I think it ws rather a combination of both Nvida and Capcom with the profile.
I see it this way. Capcom produces a game that abides as best as it can by basic 3d rules as in providing proper placement of objects in 3dimensional space. That is all the average game using Directx needs to do. It's up to the 3d vision drivers to then calculate and produce the left and right eye frames based on the existing 3d information. Based on that the 3d driver and profile for the game should determine whether the convergence is locked or not, not the actual game. The 3d drivers normally is not a part of the gamng software, but runs as an interface between the gaming software and the directx to do the needed conversions.
Well that's just my point of view on how I see it. And I tihnk that Nvidai and capcom came to a mutua decission to lock the convergence based on the game profile.

Could be... what they said to me though was that they allow the option to lock convergence and other things and it is up to the developer to decide whether to use that option or not.

im actually now waiting on a game that was first made for pc to be made for 3d , i wonder if it will have an even better effect for 3d possibly , i heard more game devs are focusing with 3d especially with dx11

I will try and record a video tomorrow.

I see it this way. Capcom produces a game that abides as best as it can by basic 3d rules as in providing proper placement of objects in 3dimensional space. Well that's just my point of view on how I see it. And I tihnk that Nvidai and capcom came to a mutua decission to lock the convergence based on the game profile.

The human race divides politically into those who want people to be controlled and those who have no such desire.

This mod changes the color palette of RE5 from the dark greenish tones to a full and vibrant color scale, giving the game a much more realistic look.
Can't wait to put it on and play in 3D on my PC!
