Just got a message from a friend of mine who actually want to get the ps VR headset because of this game. I'm willing to coin in on this but I have my hopes on the scorpion's VR. Will it be better to wait on the scorpion to get into VR? (haven't had the privilege to experience any VR in this VR forsaken country of mine.)
If the VR bug bites, he will most probably get into 3D Vision and realize what he truly has been missing...

All this crap with exclusivity hurts the gaming industry, but whatever...

[quote="DJ-RK"]Well, the main issues are with the lack of feedback we are getting when hunting shaders. Cycling through them in skip mode yields very little results, pink mode a little better (but still not really viable), mono helps with some but not all, and zero crashes the game.
As such, frame analysis working properly would be a god send, but that's sadly not giving us what we need either. It will do a dump ok, but for every drawcall only the o1 and o2 outputs can be converted to .jps or if you view the .dds files for those with a capable viewer will have an actual image... but the o0 outputs (the ones that would actually be useful) are unreadable by every viewer (and visual studio just opens the files as code, not an image) and converting them using DSS python tool just produces an all black image. This is the real showstopper. As far as I can tell with my limited knowledge it's because these use BC7 based compression, and I'm not sure if that's supposed to make them unreadable, or there's something more gooing on here. Based on my reading on MSDN I was under the impression that Visual Studio should be able to open them, but again they just open as code. I figure that maybe there's some sort of proprietary encoding going on by Capcom here to prevent modders from doing their thing, but I also wonder if there's possibility of 3DM potentially corrupting the files when they get dumped.
On top of that, there's also a matter of certain effects breaking in one eye on non-SLI setups. There are ways to potentially fix this, but not without frame analysis (even regular shader hunting would not be helpful here).
I've gone into some pretty lengthy detail on all this in 2 posts in the 3DMigoto thread, but this here is the short version. The 2 posts can be seen here:

As noted in the 3Dmigoto thread, I released a new version of 3Dmigoto that dumps all the dds files without error now. You can also use the texconv tool to convert the DDS into something much more convenient. Details in that thread.
For the o0 that you see here, the outputs are still not useful in general. All of the ones I spot checked are just black. And I looked at the original files, and they are in fact all black.
So I'm not certain this will help, but it should smooth out the problems you are seeing with FrameAnalysis. Let me know if you still have problems with it.

@bo3b: Thank you so much for taking a look and making improvements where possible. Indeed, like you mentioned, those o0's are still providing blanks, but there are a few more images being dumped that weren't before (so kudos for making progress on those) which may or may not be key to us making progress here. I certainly tried and wasn't able to make it any further than before, but that doesn't mean that it can't be done. Either way, again, I am most appreciative of you taking time on this regardless on the outcome.
As it stands, the biggest problem I'm facing (that I can't resolve) doesn't happen on SLI systems, so this might be a fix that can only be made for those with SLI... certainly better than no fix at all. Currently I'm running on just a single card, and as much as I'd like to never have to go back to dealing with the issues with SLI, it's been long enough since I've dealt with it that I'm tempted to go back to the dark side ;) so maybe I'll see if I can find another 980Ti on the cheap to pair up with my existing one. In the meantime, Mike has a SLI setup, but doesn't quite have the time to work on this, but maybe this might find it's way into his schedule before I have the hardware to try on my end.

That's not a bad idea. I've done this before, and it works better than you'd expect. If you use Discover instead, you get the 3D image and can easily see missing and/or misaligned problems because of the red/blue overlap or missing a color. Sometimes it's actually easier to do hunting and so on in Discover because it runs windowed.
My best guess here is that the driver is not helping as much as we need. Especially for CS, the driver seems to be fairly sketchy about creating a dual-image. The one-eye problems I expect are driver related. We might be able to fix them with 3Dmigoto, but it starts getting really hard.
In any case, especially for a very new game like this, be certain to use the newest driver that might have some profile or driver tweaks.

Probably it just depends if you're not in a rush- The scorpio will get a reveal and a release date at the June 11th E3. Since it will be the most current system, it will have the best specs of the consoles to date.
But there really isn't much publicly known about what kind of VR offerings they will have. I did get the PSVR, and it's okay but its definitely at the lower end of the First Gen VR tree. If you can afford some extravagances, than its kind of a interesting little device. It really feels like more of a demo that showcases the potential of the technology down the road a bit. But at the current tech level and the current software offerings its probably not quite worth the money.

You have to set resolution scaling to 1.1 or more and it stops doing that. As for AC i remember it hapening in Syndicate and it was for some graphic option too that i dont remember right now.

Cheers Pipedream. Never saw this thread bumped.
I've been patient about this for many years now. But I will wait till a trusted VR enthusiastic friend over here report a headset that lives up to 3D Vision, or atleast come close.
We should build our shaderhacker team a time machine to go into the future to go visit their future self's and come back with the necessary tech and code.
(For the future of my hypothetical kids education I have to save money now, everywhere I can. So I cant afford to waste money on a VR setup. Unless the VR setup causes me to become smarter and make super babies that would earn their own scholarships one day. Then they could buy me a freakin country, or two)

Yeah, what does it help to cry and complain...no body is listening =(
Its saddening. When you guys come back from the future you could go back in the past and alter history so that all games are coded for one super pipeline aimed for one engine, dominated by nVidia.
<^> Problem solved <^>
Hope you guys could crack this one! Not sure I'll be playing. Deadspace 3 was terrifying enough..
