Yes, it works (in checkerboard mode). Select "Generic DLP" as nVidia stereo output.

Does checkerboard mean that the TV can run at 60hz and still provide decent 3D? With shutter 120hz is needed for alternating between left and right eye (60frames per eye) but if I understand checkerboard correctly it's both imaged combined into one frame (in a checkerboard pattern, not interlaced). One thing I don't understand is how one separates the checkerboard for each eye?

To the best of my knowledge. When you have a 3d T.V. with a checkerboard pattern it utilizes a true 120 HZ input, not an interlaced 120 HZ signal. The T.V. does not seperate the checkerboard. The glasses flicker 120 times per second off setting to create the depth of 3d. It's like putting a hand over one eye and then taking your hand off that eye and putting on the other, but so fast you can't see it with the human eye

how do u get into checkered mode, do you need the cable plugged into the 3d sync out before changing to those options cause when I hit menu I dont see the option anywhere but I dont have nvidia 3d vision yet due to how expensive it is.

Actually the Samsung Plasmas have a special 3D mode, where the output rate is doubled to 120Hz. The signal is still feed in @ 60Hz in checkerboard format and the TV splits this into to 2 subsequent pictures for the left and right eye.
There is some loss of resolution caused by this scheme and the picture looks a bit grainy, but better as I did expect myself initially.

The good thing about checkerboard format is that it is usable with the nVidia and the iZ3D stereo drivers (iZ3D + DLP license + eDimensional/ELSA Revelator glasses) .

There are already some threads here and at www.MTBS3D.com that discuss this topic.
