3D Vision on projector advice
I've been doing research on 3d vision for a long time now, and decided that it's finally time to bite the bullet and try it out.

I've always been hesitant about the investment because I only use IPS monitors and since there are no 120Hz IPS monitors, I didn't want to have to go back to using TN for 3D.

Recently, I decided to compromise and go for a projector set up, that can double as both a television (cable box -> projector composite) and monitor (pc -> hdmi). I also thought it would be interesting to project it on the ceiling, so I could lay back when playing my games and hopefully get immersed into the 3d effect.

Anyway, I'll cut to the chase here. There's a lot of good press on the forums here about the Acer h5360. This was the projector I was going to get (along with the 3d vision kit). Is this a good option or should I wait for the h5360BD? I'm a little hesitant because the Acer has been on the market for a long time now and I don't know if anything has changed technology-wise. I felt like this (Acer) projector as well as the compatible Optimas were the only good ones (both with resolution as well as features and quality), (except for the fact that you need to dish out another $500 for the optimas to get 3d blu-ray support).

I'm hoping that I'm making a good decision here by going with this whole 3d thing, although much of my friends keep trying to convince me that it's a fad and a gimmick. I also heard conflicting reports that NVIDIA was either discontinuing 3d vision or coming out with a new and better kit. Is it wise to wait this out?

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

3D vision glasses were upgraded from 20 hours to 40 hours.

3D Vision needs a real good pc keep in mind.(It cuts your fps in 1/2.)(Also you need a nvidia card fyi)

Acer5360BD is probably going to be more expensive then an acer 5360+ a vip 3d(lets you play ps3 3d/blu-ray(not 360 but I dont think 5360bd can either but not many 3d 360 games.) So why wait.

As far as gimmick. Its hard to explain why or why not it is. I can still play 2d games no but if I were to go from 3d->2d in same game I'd feel that something is missing. Everything feels flat and immersion goes down so much, though some may disagree it also looks better graphics wise it brings out so many details and you can play a game you played before in 2d and just see things you missed first time. I dont play many games to be honest, maybe 1-2 different games a month. However I am a big bioware fan. I played Mass Effect 2 and beat it twice then I got my 3d vision + acer 5360. I played through it and felt almost as good as playing it first time, almost like a brand new experience.

I'd buy an acer 5360 + 3d vision kit(will run you 650ish(need a good clean white wall/white b.)If you like it and are happy then buy a vip 3d/projector screen(another 300-400.) I love my acer 5360 I use it for 3d gaming/movies/and just as every day pc monitor. I sold my old tv/monitor and it made up the difference between it.

I have here also the Acer H5360 & the 3D nVidia kit and I use it for watching movies and it is awesome! I showed it to some friends of mine and they were all pleasently surprised. Even the most critical one had to say that it is wicked. He used to write reviews of movies in a magazine and goes to the movie theatre at least once a week if possible.
I don't play games but I will try that soon.

I recommend a projector screen instead of a wall and make sure it's big enough to show a 1280x720 resolution, I had a screen that was 1:80 x 1:80 mtr and that was to small. Now I have 2:40 x 2:00 mtr and now it looks great. It is not full HD but for me it will do just fine. I watch tv also and the HD channels I have they also look very nice. The only thing is that you have to look at night to get the best results, during the day this projector will not look as good as at night. The rest of my configuration:

Acer H5360 projector
nVidia 3D kit
nVidia Player

In combination with this computer (only the important parts):

Windows 7 Ultimate 64 Bit
Core i7 920
EVGA GTX460
M-Audio Delta 192
6 gb Kingston HyperX KHX16000D3K3/3GX
OCZ Vertex SATA II 2.5" SSD 120GB (only for O.S. & programs)
Buffalo External Harddisk 1 tb USB 3.0

I hope you know a little bit more what to do now, if you have questions don't hesitate to ask.
