Make sure your monitor rez is set to, 1680x1050 and at 120 hz and also ingame as well and that the game is in full screen mode.

1680x 1050 in the game or in windows ?
also i was under the impression it ran at the full 1900x 1080 ?
ill give it a go
I am not sure what drivers you are using but download the latest 3D Vision full driver CD from the Nvidia website for your card and reinstall everything from that. Also, set your resolution to the native setting of your monitor, which is 1920x1080 if it's the ASUS I am thinking of.

No no no! The ASUS is a 1920x1080 monitor. Put it there and leave it there.
This sounds like one of two common problems:
1. Wrong DVI cable. If you used the old DVI cable instead of the one that came with this monitor, you'll get this sort of problem. You must use the special, two-way DVI cable that came with the monitor or you'll never get it to work.
2. The drivers aren't all right. Just upgrading the graphics drivers won't do it. You have to download the full 3D Vision CD from NVIDIA's website. (Go to the drivers page and, instead of searching for GEFORCE drivers, search for 3D Vision drivers.) The CD will have the graphics drivers PLUS the drivers for the emiter USB device.

Also try the 1.38 CD before you try the beta 1.44. I'm having trouble with the betas where it will not switch to the proper resolution for my projector. It thinks it's setting the correct one, 1280x720@120 Hz, which is indicated in the nvidia test as well, but it's really displaying at 1280x1024@75Hz. With the 1.38 CD drivers I have no such problems.

I find it sets correctly if you do it in the windows display panel! /teehee.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':teehee:' />

Yes it does. However it modeswitches everytime a 3d app is started even when the resolution is the same as on the desktop. And then it goes all wonky again, so I can't play in 3d with these drivers at all.

Following a clean install and the installation of not only the full cd driver version 1.38 but also the small emitter driver, which I'm thinking could have been the problem now
Zloth hit the nail on the head I think
It's a totally different experience and fantastic.
I'm really pleased all and any ghosting is gone completely
And it is the 3d experience I was hoping for.
I do think that the second gtx470 makes a massive difference as well.
Big thank you to all those who took the time to reply, it is much appreciated.
