The Witcher 2 in 3D Vision Official thread from NVIDIA

I can't decide if I should laugh or cry.....I'm bummed 3D is BROKEN now but seriously the anger and frustration in this thread coupled with Andrew's & Manny's posts had me rolling on the ground!! Funniest shlock I've seen in a long time.
I've been waiting to play this game in 3D surround for over 2 months now and it's starting to look like it ain't gonna happen anytime soon lol....any chance the next set of drivers will fix the shadow problem?
HEY! At least SLI is more or less fixed, RIGHT?? AM I RIGHT PEOPLE??? lol.....I have to go cut myself..... /whoops.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':whoops:' />

I've been holding out on buying this game until it worked correctly, looks like i'll be holding out longer. I learned my lesson after Bioshock 2.
Situation is very dissapointing. I thinker Witcher2 could be a real showpiece for 3DVision if CDProject and Nvidia can get it working.
Until then I will not personally buy the game.
When 3DVision works, it provides an unbelievably immersive experience.
However, if one small part is broken (e.g. shadows), it often results in a perceptual distraction that is difficult to view.
I remain optimistic that it will get fixed. The first Witcher had some unusual framerate issues for interior environments with dynamic lighting.
Sounds like these issues may bave been resolved but now shadows are broken.
Shadows should be relatively easy to fix, as they were working initially.
All Devs should be using stereo-compatible lighting and shadowing methods, which is easy to do and insures that their content will be playable in stereo on PC as well as current-gen and next-gen consoles using 3D Televisions.
Another instance where the huge market for console games can help move technology along at the high end (SLI'd PCs!).
Nvidia needs to be more effective in promoting these ideas and methods with developers.

The real quesiton is, how was it not noticed that the shadows etc where broken before releasing the patch. It's not like it was rushed out. It took a long time, for no real benifit.

It seems nobody really tested it with 3DVision, which is really unexcusable.
But to say it took a long time with no real benefit has to be a joke. It's not like this patch only contained the non-working 3DVision fix, is it?

From reading posts from GOG.com and the community page where the patch was released, it appears many people are unhappy with the way the aspect ratio fix was implemented and there are apparently new bugs introduced with the patch. There is definitely a disconnect between Nvidia and CDProject concerning the 3D Vision.
Regardless, I stand by my initial opinion that little to no testing was done by the developers to check the 3D Vision with the patch. It's pretty hard to not notice the issues anywhere outside during daylight hours.

FYI, in case anyone missed in the other threads, Grestorn accidentally revealed himself to be an nvidia employee:
-nvidia advertises "3D Vision Ready" on a game that is untested and barely playable in 3D
-Falls completely silent to outrage over game issues, until two months pass, when a patch is released which "fixes the issue"
-Issue is hilariously not fixed, nvidia only does a drive-by posting about how "it's fixed" with no other recognition of issues
-nvidia creates fake user accounts to fight with users who are upset about spending hundreds of dollars on false advertising, broken technology and incompetently programmed drivers

True it is now playable in 2d with 3d vision drivers installed. Which is a start. Lets hope they (both nvidia and cdprojekt) can just fix it all up as this game in 3d when working is jaw dropping. A public apology would go a very long way to remedying the dissatisfied 3d vision community, but the chances of that happening are less likely then Modern Warfare 3 not being essentially the same cod game as the four that preceded it (in other words, it aunt gonna happen).
I am still annoyed as I bought the game mostly for a big rpg that we where sold as working perfectly with nvidia 3d vision and nvidia claimed they had worked with the developer to ensure that it would. Sadly two months later it is still unplayable in 3d.

ROFL. How is that posting any proof that I'm an nVidia employee?! I just want to see what problems Sundatory is claiming to have, since I don't have any. By the way, I didn't get ANY reply from him once again. So he just claims that there is a problem and when you want to know the details, there's nothing coming anymore. That kind of behaviour is much more in line with the word "lying" than what nVidia has done here.
By the way, I live in Germany. And the only connection with nVidia that I have is that I'm using their cards for some times now and that I've written nHancer, which is out of support for the time being.
Again, ask yourself, if you'd be an nVidia employee, would you have ANY reason to show your ass in here with the atmosphere that you're creating? If I really WERE an employee, I certainly wouldn't write here, because I HAD to stay civil which I really wouldn't want to be with all that stupidity that's going around here.

I've been waiting to play this game in 3D surround for over 2 months now and it's starting to look like it ain't gonna happen anytime soon lol....any chance the next set of drivers will fix the shadow problem?

The real quesiton is, how was it not noticed that the shadows etc where broken before releasing the patch. It's not like it was rushed out. It took a long time, for no real benifit.
It seems nobody really tested it with 3DVision, which is really unexcusable.
But to say it took a long time with no real benefit has to be a joke. It's not like this patch only contained the non-working 3DVision fix, is it?

So, to sum up:
-nvidia advertises "3D Vision Ready" on a game that is untested and barely playable in 3D
-Falls completely silent to outrage over game issues, until two months pass, when a patch is released which "fixes the issue"
-Issue is hilariously not fixed, nvidia only does a drive-by posting about how "it's fixed" with no other recognition of issues
-nvidia creates fake user accounts to fight with users who are upset about spending hundreds of dollars on false advertising, broken technology and incompetently programmed drivers
It seems nobody really tested it with 3DVision, which is really unexcusable.
But to say it took a long time with no real benefit has to be a joke. It's not like this patch only contained the non-working 3DVision fix, is it?

FYI, in case anyone missed in the other threads, Grestorn accidentally revealed himself to be an nvidia employee:
