Tried to run cacheboost with no luck tried changing buffers, no luck trying now to run at multiple core rendering, setting was standing on false. though i cant manage to loop the bechmark, tried the commandline switches like you posted. at least all core's are active, but I dindt check up on tjat before. greetz

I've got an experiment that might be worth running. I've created a new version of 3Dmigoto that specifically fixes a performance problem I saw when using it on GTA5. When running this with a ShaderFixes folder, I've gotten as high as 30 runs on my stability challenge before having to take over the computer. For these settings I have never been able to get past 5, so that's promising. The shadows were dropping out, but also coming back, which I've never seen before. I'm pretty sure I can fix the shadows from breaking, but of course now that I'm set up to hunt them, it's working perfectly. Also, I'd like to see if it's stable for other people. Hey, I've got this issue recently were the text at the end of missions would flash. I've tried to look it up on the internet and can't find anything on it. Isn't game breaking but I'm wondering if it's a glitch with GTAV or with my graphics card. I tried to capture a picture of it. But since its flashing really fast that is near impossible. To make sure you guys know what text I'm talking about I will post a Gyazo link anyway: http://gyazo.com/a1b90a409064430b8609daf9fe054610. It's the text you get after the mission ends: such as "PASSED", "<insert number>st place" and the text that shows how much RP and GTA cash you got. The level text is fine and all other text in the game is just fine. Haven't encountered any other graphical issues either. The fix that was created earlier on by a user here (can't remember at the moment who) that addressed the sun and the markers caused the same thing for me, the bushes blinking in and out, so it would seem to be a side effect of something already present in the older fix, I didn't use the fix because of that very issue. For what it's worth, i'm using the latest version of the game (non-steam), and the same 347.88 driver set I have been using for a while now in conjunction with that custom profile you posted waaayyy back that fixed the grass issue for me. Hey Bo3b, not sure if this helps, but..

This is the first time after trying all the reported suggestions that I have been able to run 200 full benchmarks with the settings turned up. This includes part of DHR's earlier fix, but the shader numbers changed. It works on Win 10 - 353.62! Played for 1 hour and all was fine (minus vegetation flickering). Thanks for the fix bo3b!

Hi Bo3b, I've been following this thread with great interest because I'm very eager to buy and play this game. I've played it on a borrowed console last year and loved it, but with all the issues people are having I did not buy it yet. Your crash fix encouraged me to try a "demo" version, and I'm in shock of how this game plays and looks on PC. It is now number one in my gaming ranking, and I've been playing games since forever! I still got a crash eventually, but without your fix the game consistently crashes in about 10 minutes of driving or mission play, not so fast for free roaming. The crash is always preceded by shaders breaking, at which point I switch to 2D and can continue playing. I think you're on to something, which is unbelievable because this game cannot be played with any real enjoyment due to the crashes. If you fully fix this issue, I believe it will be the single most important contribution of game modding this year (or decade, in view of how I feel about the game and the non-existent hope that it would have been patched by R*, since it only happens in 3D vision). I thank you from the bottom of my heart! Good luck with this, for all of us!

Hi bo3b, I placed the gtatest files in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Grand Theft Auto V and the shadows and severe ghosting problems was still there.. I also have really crippled 30-40fps performance on my 980tis 2-way-sli.. could you help me? I have severe ghosting with latest drivers with my windows 10 pro and previous windows 7 ultimate with the official drivers for 980tis - I don't know how to fix this? Thanks Bo3b. I test the file. EDIT: I had no crash at all. I played 3 missions and 70 minutes. Only one time 3D disabled itself, but I could enable it again by briefly changing the resolution. :)

Good things never last. GTA 5 worked fine with bo3b fix for about 2 hours now it crashes every 10 minutes or so not even long enough to finish a mission. Shame the game so playable but with this bug it's unplayable.

When I add the extended graphics options like long-view while flying and longer shadows, I also still crash, so it's definitely not a 100% solution. It's definitely more reliable than it was, as no other change has been able to last a full 200 benchmarks before. In order to get stability, everyone will need to play with their settings to find a set that will last the full run. @UB313: There is something wrong with your setup. At launch, the game normally has no ghosting or shadows problems, it's only after using it for awhile that we get problems. Try disabling the NV Shader Cache. Since you are on 980ti now, you are stuck with the latest crap drivers, and the problem may not be solvable until better drivers arrive. This fix is only to tweak some very small effects, as the overall game normally runs with nearly perfect 3D. @Zig11727: Put the settings to minimal, e.g. http://sg.bo3b.net/gtav/nocrash/settings.xml Then run the benchmark test overnight. If you can run for 200 tries, then you can start adding in more settings. If you don't have a solid base to start with, your results will be random.
When I add the extended graphics options like long-view while flying and longer shadows, I also still crash, so it's definitely not a 100% solution.

It's definitely more reliable than it was, as no other change has been able to last a full 200 benchmarks before. In order to get stability, everyone will need to play with their settings to find a set that will last the full run.

Sharing a photo just to say Thank you Bo3b! again. Sorry for being so curious, but have you actually addressed the supposed memory leak with your fix, or is it just a smart optimisation of how 3D Vision works on the game's engine?

We've had a huge number of experiments that didn't pan out. Not certain this one is the real deal either, I can only tweak a couple of parameters, not all. Might just be changing the timing in a subtle way. This fix doesn't fix the underlying memory leak (not yet anyway), and was more of an accident I found while digging with 3Dmigoto. I think we can still get shadow dropouts, and my plan is to switch all their shaders to use our stereotexture instead of theirs, as we know ours is more stable and reliable. Current problem is the flickering bushes up close though, and with 3Dmigoto installed they flicker. Another timing/multi-thread problem. I'm willing to accept dancing bushes as the price to play without crashes, but it's definitely lame. If anyone finds a settings combo that fixes these, please let us know, DHR and I are almost out of ideas for the bushes.
