3DTV Play - Playstation 3D Display 24" Support?
  11 / 18
The new driver that came out today actually allowed me to complete the 3D Vision set up with no problem. But I need help.

Has anyone actually been able to play a 3D Blu Ray using Cyberlink? Every option I've tried in that program doesn't work even with 3D Vision on. The video plays but there is no 3D effect.

The new driver that came out today actually allowed me to complete the 3D Vision set up with no problem. But I need help.

Everytime I go to select the INF file for the monitor it won't let me update the driver with it. I click the INF file and then click open and a stupid sound keeps coming up and it won't upload.

Also, as a reference I tried Tron Legacy 3D and opened it using Cyberlink power DVD 9.0. I tweaked the 3d settings and actually got the movie to play but when I put my glasses on to view the screen doesn't change. It's as if you're not even wearing them. Yes I turned them on and also enabled 3D vision under the NVIDIA control panel.

Please help.

If the driver you are using detects the PS 3D Display as a 3D capable unit and you went through the 3D Vision setup and calibration successfully then you do not need to to update the driver for the display. You only need the EDID override if the NVIDIA display drivers are not detecting PS 3D Display properly. You will need the NVIDIA 3DTV Play software to play non-native 3D games.

I have yet to have any of the official/beta NVIDIA display drivers detect the PS 3D Display as being 3D capable or I should say that the Stereoscopic 3D options are missing from the NVIDIA Control Panel. Consider yourself lucky I guess.

As far as watching 3D movies I have no answer for you considering I have not attempted to do so yet as my setup is primarily for gaming only.

I'm using a GTX 570 and the driver that popped up this morning was 295.73.

Prior to that I was unable to set up 3D vision as it kept crashing on me. When I updated the driver I ran it again and went through the test and everything worked great. I haven't tried Skyrim in 3D yet because I don't see that under the games options. I bought the Brick n Mortar PC version of the game when it came out.

As for my Cyberlink issue, there is a '3D' settings icon that you go into to configure the 3D. It has an auto detect feature and when I click on that it doesn't recognize the monitor as a 3DTV. Though there are several options available and I've chosen all of them to get the disk to work. So far, the generic 3DTV option made the disk play, but when I put on the glasses I don't get the clear 3D, only the blurry screen. This makes no sense at all, and I even have the 3DTV software trial enabled as well.

I'll put in Skyrim and see if it plays without the hack and repost but if anyone has any idea of how to play the 3D Blu's that would be great.

Thanks.

Wow. Just wow.

No problems with Skyrim. I just had to set the resolution to 1280x720. That was pretty amazing. 3D was excellent in just the few minutes that I watched. I don't have time right now to play more but there was no ghosting or anything. The picture was perfect.

So basically if you have a GTX 570 and use the driver 295.73 you can run the 3D Vision setup and it will work. I installed the 3DTV trial so if for some reason it stops after 14 days I guess I'll have to buy it. Just so we're clear though I was able to run 3D vision setup before I downloaded that and the setup worked fine. I even disabled the INF hack and had windows locate the Generic PNP driver. That's what I using when I played Skyrim.

I'm still pissed about Cyberlink Power DVD playing 3D Blu's though. There must be some kind of software issue with that if everything else works. I'll ArcSoft and see if that works, but dammit to all hell if it does because that software is $100 by itself.

Please post if you can play 3D Blu Rays any other way. Thanks.

Well it's confirmed. Cyberlink just plain sucks.

I installed Arcsoft Total Media Theater 5 and played Tron Legacy 3D with no problem. I didn't even have to go into NVIDIA's Control Panel and change the setting either. I kept it at 1920x1080 @60Hz under the HD,SD settings.

Arcsoft has a nicer looking UI than Cyberlink too. But it's $100 with a 15 day trial. I managed to find a coupon online for $30 so that took some of the sting out. Great program from first glance and it's supported by NVIDIA.

So is this monitor finally supported? The 295.73 driver pretty much cleared everything up for me. I hope everyone here can fix the issues they have. Thanks for all the info. I'll be around.

While a few others and yourself have reported success in getting the display to detect properly as a 3D capable monitor I have not and I have tried all the recent betas and official drivers including the recently released 295.73 version to no avail. I have done all the proper ways of uninstalling and installing concerning uninstalling everything, doing clean installs, running driver sweeper in safe mode, etc, etc, etc. The stereoscopic 3D options simply do not show up in the NVIDIA Control Panel.

Initially I used the modded .inf file and it did detect as a 3D capable display but that will not work anymore either. Console games and native 3D PC games work just fine but as far as converting PC games to 3D I am currently stuck with using TriDef 3D which has worked surprisingly well and I would even say my experience with Skyrim, DiRT 3, Black Ops, NFS Hot Pursuit, and Dear Esther has been quite amazing to name a few.

I guess the question that needs answering as of now is whether or not the PS 3D Display is officially supported by NVIDIA?

A total fresh install of Windows is certainly not something I want to do but the chance that is what is needed to make everything work properly is something I would consider if I knew the display had official support.

With that said there is a lot left to be desired concerning S3D gaming in its present form whether using 3D Vision or whatever and it can be more aggravating than anything at times.

While I have had some amazing experiences in full-3D I still enjoy the idea of cranking the resolution, AA, and AF and gaming away without tweaking, tweaking, and more tweaking to just get games somewhat playable with minimal graphical anomalies due to the idea that a large percentage of the time games are not developed with S3D gaming in mind.

You know that may be the issue right there. Are you guys using a port adapter and not HDMI to HDMI?

I seriously doubt you need a fresh reboot.

I'm using Windows 7 64 bit.

I am using a GTX 460 which has two DVI and a mini-HDMI and I have three displays connected to the card...

DVI 1 - PS 3D Display using a DVI-to-HDMI adapter

DVI 2 - Sony 34XBR960 HDTV using a DVI-to-HDMI cable

mini-HDMI - HP w2408h using a mini-HDMI-to-HDMI adapter

I have switched around the cables and displays and continue to get the same results.

Something tells me it's the port not recognizing 1.4. I could be wrong. Hopefully that dude with the 460 can shed some light on how he got it to work.

I do not think that is the case considering when I first got the display I used a modded .inf(EDID override) to update the PS 3D Display drivers which allowed me to go through the 3D Vision setup and calibration and then use 3DTV Play to play games in S3D.

I have never had the display detect as being 3D capable with the default Windows PS 3D Display driver and the modded .inf no longer works.

It is nice to know that users are having success with the new drivers but at the same time it is obviously frustrating considering my dilemma.

It is not the biggest deal considering what I said earlier as when I play games I like them to be as near perfect as possible when it comes to graphics or as intended rather than having to disable an effect or tweak an .ini file or whatever just to get it to play at an acceptable level in S3D. That is how I feel anyways.

With that said, things like this still drive me a bit crazy considering there is a solution that is currently alluding me.
