Chiri Tool Unlocking Convergence
So I know how to use the tool tc apply a different convergence on a button press, but how do I override a global convergence lock? The default convergence is locked to 61 and I want 81, I put the tool in place, adjust convergence and hit F7 and it just flips back again. What do? Thanks.

Some people say they can't save some games. Not sure if its tool/driver related or what. Not a big deal. Just leave it but it will reset each time you go to play.

It's RE5, which apparently works?

Yeah it does I played it with it. Video and screenshots are up, but convergence/depth being SAVED may not[I don't remember]. Some games can be saved. Some games can't. Just got to redo it after opening game again. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HxXxw0EGgmM

If the unlocker works, but you can't save, you could probably add an alternate key to the nvapi.ini. Like make a keyboard setting for 'u' key for convergence number you want. Then at least it's just press 'u' to get your default.

Hadn't thought of that, thanks. How would I do it? I can only get it to switch to a convergence preset when the key is held, not toggled to. Currently looks like this. Example of XBOX360 joypad configuration [OverrideSettings] XInputDevice=0 Action=LeftTrigger Convergence=61.2 ;Separation=10 If I wanted the action key as the back button or something?

As far as the back button goes, you can enabled input logging in the ini, run the game press the button and check the log for what it's called. As far as toggling goes, I might be able to make an ahk script to toggle the button, on and off. Give me a min. Download AutoHotKey (http://www.autohotkey.com/), if you don't already have it, and save the following as a .ahk and run it.
$Joy7:: Send, % "{Joy7 " ( (Toggle:=!Toggle) ? "Down" : "Up" ) "}"
but you'll still have to figure out what the button is called in the ini, I can't atm.

Sorry, I confused that Chiri mechanism with a Helix mechanism. You are right, there is not exactly a non-toggle variant. You can make a mapping setup using his tool, as described here: http://helixmod.blogspot.com/2012/06/how-to-unlock-convergence-in-locked.html That would allow you to set a default mapping to override what the system is doing. You'd need to enable logging on convergence, and set the convergence as desired. You can then use that number to create the default mapping, which would then not require you hit any keys.
[ConvergenceMap] Map1=from 3e99999a to 0.3
(I haven't tried this, so you might have to jack around with it to figure out how it works.)

@what bo3b snuck in while I was working on this: Yeah that should work too. :D Everything I tried to enable input logging in just gave me a blank log ... I could rewrite the script to make the back button(Joy7) toggle another key like o ... not sure if it's used in RE5 or not. try this, change convergence to what you need. The back button toggles the convergence setting using AutoHotKey.
;Example of keyboard config [OverrideSettings] Input=Keyboard Action=O Convergence=.01 ;Separation=10

Joy7:: Send, % "{o " ( (Toggle:=!Toggle) ? "Down" : "Up" ) "}"
Tested the toggle/nvapi.ini in Metro: Last Light worked like a charm. :) ... ahk script (back o toggle) compiled and attached, just remove the .bmp :)

Thanks guys. The Chiri tool is clearly more complex than setting up the Helix one, thanks for the help.
