Nice, hopefully it'll all come full circle and 3D Vision will finally get the much needed attention it deserves and they start fixing and improving the Driver releases ... otherwise there's no 900 series card in my future ... and trust me I want one pretty bad right about now. :)

Not really having success seeing your images, but I've seen some supposedly leaked slides elsewhere. Called VR Direct? Asychronous Warp cuts latency in half?
Hopefully AMD does the same thing. I would expect Oculus to work with both to really optimize driver side latency.
I'm not going to get too outraged about it being 900 series only, because I'm not upgrading until we see die shrinks. Hoping the new cards arrive before CV1 releases next year.
EDIT: "Auto Stereo" seems interesting. The next form of Nvidia 3D, but optimized for VR? Should be interesting. Oculus Connect is also occurring on Friday and Saturday (Saturday is the good stuff).

Well its good that they are making improvements to SLI latency maybe these improvements will effect those who experience SLI micro stuttering. TBH, I have a feeling people will be much more perceptive to micro stuttering on VR.
TBH, I am kind of tired of SLI's issues and games that aren't supported as of late and plan to go single card regardless.
Battlefield 4/Watch dogs I experienced the worst stuttering [SLI] of my life.
Wolfenstein didn't have real support

I am weary of that comment. Cause first off.....Maxwell is out today.
Secondly, there was a similiar phrase where 3D vision was optimized for g-sync... and the two don't even work together.
Tbh, I would have to see it to believe it at this point. Its smart if they do since it will work on both platforms and would be a selling point [people can actually see 3D games and decide to get a 3D monitor or just play on rift]. At this point there are more games that were Full-fledged modded 3D vision support that would be good for VR support [Far Cry 3, Bioshock, Fallout 3, Skyrim, Mirror's Edge, etc] then games with actual support at the moment. Not to mention that you could still play a variety of titles just in 3D [ignoring VR features].
....Though I wouldnt mind tooting my own horn if they did since a lot of games I worked on would be amazing in VR. Not to mention that we have more talented modders/tools then OR [at the moment].

If it's true, that's huge! Though with everything Nvidia related, I will believe it when I see it, like eqzitara says. Also I'm not so sure if it would really add headtracking to those games or just make the OR a panoramic 3d screen, which would be ok in any case.
So we may get several thousand new 3d vision users in a few days, that would really get some new life into 3d vision. In any case, I'm hoping to get one 970 soon, and add another in SLI later on if reviews really show those improvements in real scenarios.

Oh yeah! A bit more from http://www.geforce.com/whats-new/articles/maxwell-architecture-gtx-980-970 :
"Before VR there were a number of 3D technologies, such as our own 3D Vision. Fundamentally, the rendering technologies of 3D Vision and VR are extremely similar: 2 slightly different images displayed in such a way to create a 3D dimensional effect. Realizing this, we have developed Auto Stereo, which will convert 3D Vision-compatible games into VR experiences, with mouse and keyboard commands mapped to VR inputs like head movement, similar to Gamepad Mapper on NVIDIA SHIELD devices, which maps touch and motion inputs to physical controls. Auto Stereo will be delivered automatically through GeForce Experience."
It looks like the real deal *fingers crossed*

I'm definitely torn about it being Maxwell only. I really don't want to upgrade until the new die shrink, but this seems like an amazing update. Worthy of some of the cryptic mod remarks way back when.
Douglas Lanman (formerly Nvidia guy now at Ocoulus) recently tweeted about a major breakthrough in performance. I wonder if this is what he was referring to. He didn't want to step on anyone's announcement and never expanded on what he meant.

And just like that, I'm locked back into the Nvidia eco-system.

In the comments section, an Nvidia mod says they intend to support older architectures. Please let it go back to Kepler. I can get by with what I have till the die shrinks come, but I really want to play the pinball games using DK2.

This Toms review of the two cards is very positive http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/nvidia-geforce-gtx-980-970-maxwell,3941.html, but it did not have chance to say much about the VR aspects at this stage. I can't believe the 970 is only $330. That's cheaper than the 770 4GB cards (whose price is now tumbling all of a sudden) while being on average 23% faster, far less power, quieter etc etc.
@SteveK - if you are reading this, will this new "Auto Stereo" feature work with the current batch of helixmod/3DMigoto fixes, or will they break? Will it work with both DX9 and DX11, or just DX11? Will it work with 'full' 3D Vision or just Compatibility Mode?
