Nope. I need to stop tweaking and get on exploring the game!
I really love the way the relative position/heading sphere in 3D gives it about 10x more context that in 2D. It really is an entirely accidentally awesome 3D experience. I personally like the HUD in mode 2, I'm an information nazi.
You can edit components of the cockpit. I have edited the part where the relative position/heading sphere is further by removing the clutter. The sphere hologram is completely uncluttered now. :)

I can't seem to get the demo working in 3d. The emitter doesn't activate.
I've tried switching AA to 2X etc. and I've tried pressing CTRL-T but still no joy.
Is there something else I can try? I can't seem to see an option to switch between full screen and windowed and CTRL-Enter doesn't do anything either.
ok, there we go, I'm a lousy reader of instrux.
Thanks Kolreth, (FS)...
I did do a reinstall of the game, and did not use the force FS wrapper. I do have to have my AA settings at "2X".
Now I have surround 3D.

Thanks bunches guys for the other tweaks too!! I appreciate it.
Here's a hint : It's pretty sweet
I love the realistic lighting as well, oh, i see an object in space! *fly over and slightly overshoot* Where'd it go?
Just bought this, and I have two GTX 660s in SLI (so I should have plenty of power to run it). Can anyone give me a quick settings guide to get started for an optimal experience?

I think the config setting is for people with triple screen. The lucky swines! If you are triple screen make sure you look at the text file because you can move the in game text box around to put it on one of the side screens
I strongly recommend the 'recommended' tweak I uploaded. It removed a lot of the textures which were a little too close. Also the cockpit dashboard is really sleek with a mat surface for the 3D compasses
I have just uploaded the final little tweaks to the dashboard.

I would say you do need to choose one of the fixes on the first page. Although everything is rendered in 3D some HUD elements aren't as deep as they could be. All I did was to simplify the textures so they don't 'double' or removed them of they were superfluous.
Try the lite one as that keeps it as close to vanilla as possible. The cockpit really helps though, if purely for the compasses. If you want I could edit the elements of the vanilla cockpit to remove the clutter (like the completely unit-less, therefore pointless divisions around the sphere) from the two compasses.

The dev has only gone and fixed the target boxes and pitch ladder! He has let me try the beta. Here are some screenies of it. I hope Vice doesn't mind me posting these :/

As you can see the target icons have been pushed back. A text file was supplied for the pitch ladder so you can push it back and scale it too your pleasure.
I have cheekily asked for the following to solve the only real issues remaining:
Easy fix (considering the last one anyway): the velocity direction indicator square(?) which is still too close.
Not so easy fix: the top and bottom compasses (they are too shallow) and the target ship hologram (too deep). Could a txt file be used for these elements like the pitch ladder?

Does the sw.cfg fix/improve 3d stuff, or is it just for general use?
