I want to by a projector and want to see the Sky 3d Channel
Hi,
I have a HTPC with an Nividia GT 240 graphic card and windows 7 MCE. In future I want to buy a projector (like Benq W600+ or Acer H5360) + Nvidia 3D Glasses. With this equipment I can see Blu Rays in 3d with Powerdvd 10 but is it possible to see the "Sky 3D" channel in 3d with Windows Media Center? It is broadcasted by side by side.

Yep, basically AverMedia HDMI capture card, play live in Stereoscopic Player. Run audio separately. If using HDMI, you'll need to strip HDCP. It works on cable in the US, and should work on Sky.

Hi,
I have an avermedia CaptureHD card coming this week because I want to try watching Sky 3d on my projector.
I've read it can be/has been done but I can't find much info on it anywhere. The link above no longer works. I know how it works in theory but I think I will get stuck with HDCP from the HDMI port of the sky box.
I read somewhere that someone might have overcome this by using older Avermedia drivers. I can't find any info on this.
Can anyone point me in the right direction? I don't think my Sky HD box has component outputs.

Hello,
I managed to watch sky3d here (cardsharing from my sky-receiver). I am using a terratec cinergy s2 hd in my win7 machine with gtx460. make sure to have 3dvision set up correctly. installed dvbviewer 4.5 with netstream-plugin. activate the plugin in dvbviewer. then go to "view", "disable audio/video".
minimize dvbviewer.
start nvidia 3d vision video player. go to "open url" enter: "http://127.0.0.1:2345" (standard settings in the netstream-plugin) and the nvidia player receives the stream from dvbviewer. doubleclick to fullscreen and voilà ...
should work out if you use a 3d-projector like the h5360.
good luck :)

For the Aver CaptureHD users: Download the drivers for the AverCaptureHD3D card, and it gives a little button at the bottom right to enable side by side 3d mode for nvidia 3d vision. I've got 4 sky boxes in the house already so I'll be damned if I subscribe to "Sky World HD" just to be able to view the 3d channel. It seems to work though as I can go to the sky 3d channel and it displays 2 side by side images (telling me to subscribe!!). Then enabling nvidia 3d vision with 3d button in the application seems to convert sky-3d into a format 3d-vision can interpret (frame sequential or field sequential.. whatever it is!!)
I'd be interested if others could try this out and report back if they had success or not. Again I think the important part is download the software for the 3D version of the CaptureHD card. Everything seems to work bar the on-the-fly 2d to 3d conversion.
As a matter of interest, how does the PS3 output 3d? Side by side--- Top/Bottom? Or something completely different?
Edit-- Don't just download the drivers, download the application software too... Oh yeah dont blame me if your capture card explodes!! Though I've been using this software for the last 2 months without problems.
Clarification: The application you want to download is "AVer MediaCenter 3D"

You are spot on, if you download the latest application which I think is the 3d card they make. Well, it works with the CaptureHD card and converts the 3d signal from sky3d on the fly and works a treat.
In fact....apart from the 3d Blu rays I have here I would even go as far as saying that it is the best 3d experience i have seen so far. There is a program called 35mm which is a preview of all the 3d movies coming up. They have quite a long trail for Avatar in 3d and it is STUNNING!
I know the sky world package is pricey £62 something a month but if you have the right kit then I would definately recommend getting it even just for 1 month to see what it is like. Loads of pop out and looks great even if it is at half resolution.

I bought the Avermedia Capture HD card last week end and after a lot of mucking about got it working with sky 3d too.
I think the latest standard version of the media player (1.7.5?) supports 'Real3D' anyway.
Avermedia centre 1.7.9 (or 3D) version has a 'see3d' option with is supposed to convert 2d-3d, but this won't work on my hardware as I think you specifically need to buy the 3d model of the capture card.
The only problem I'm having is that the picture blurs quite badly when there is movement on the screen. Even in normal 2d, when someone moves about on the screen, turns their head or moves arms, the image is blurred. It's a bit of a nightmare watching the football, as when the camera pans about most things turn into a bit of a blurry mess.

Are any of you having a similar problem?

Cheers,
Mark

Hello,
I managed to watch sky3d here (cardsharing from my sky-receiver).
