Where's our Bioshock 2 profile ?

Didn't Nvidia work with the developer to make this game 3d ready ? Grrrrr, this makes me mad, and sad :([/quote]

same here I'm mad and sad still has horrid mouse issues as well and i guess they didn't add the flashlight like they said and i cannot toggle walk and well when u crouch and walk your like 2 inches off the ground there is a bunch of scale issues and the water looks worse then the first BioShock! I blame consoles! I'm so upset i miss system shock's....

FAIL.

Bioshock 2 is not 3d ready.

The crosshair is doubled.

The water is not rendered correctly.

I am going to give nV a chance to respond with a profile before I get too annoyed. I'm kind of surprised that there isn't an open beta driver already available though for testing.

I'm quite happy to be annoyed. I just shelled out a whole lot of money for a game that doesn't do what it said 'on the box'.

And I was counting on Bioshock 2 to be 3d ready so i could play that while Mass effect 2 was getting patched for 3d support.... /confused.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

I'm annoyed, but I am just not to the ranting and raving level of annoyed yet. That'll happen if tomorrow goes by without a profile. /pinch.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':pinch:' />

Got damnit Andrew. You do the sweetest talk and make my dreams all pink and fluffy but then in the morning I wake up in a pool of vomit.

:'( <-----What I'm currently doing. Got my midnight launch copy, got 6pack o'beer...got no 3d vision (that works well at least) :'(

I guess I'll be crying myself to sleep tonight. No Bioshock 2 for me until this is fixed.

I'm confused. At least you guys get some sort of 3D with this, even if it's faulty. For me, I enabled the Stereo 3D button in the menu, but I get nothing. Flat 2D. The emitter doesn't even turn on on game launch. and when I press CRTL+T to toglle 3D, the engine freezes for a split second, on the bottom right the Nvidia 'no profile for this game' flashes up and then it returns to 2D. What gives?

I enjoyed the first Bioshock in 3D, but preordered this especially for the touted 3D Vision support, and now there's nothing! Anyone know what the fridge is going on?!

EDIT: Ok, tried it again, and this time round 3D did turn on. No idea what went wrong the first two times... Still, the experience is far from pleasant. It really doesn't feel as though any thought went into a 3D Mode, rather I'm getting the nagging feeling that this was all one big PR measure in order to raise awareness of the game and in turn promote preorders. Very sad indeed...

Oh and no, creating a profile which then mandates of list of graphical features to be turned off does imho NOT constitute proper support. If there was any exchange between 2K and Nvidia regarding 3D Vision during the development of this game, I'd actually quite like to know what that consisted of, as I find Bioshock 1 to be considerably more enjoyable to play in 3D. Yes, I'm ranting...

Nope. Well I haven't even tried Bioshock 2 yet. But I know that for all my other games, including Avatar and Mass Effect 2, the 3D engines goes of and then on again in a random matter. This usually takes a couple of seconds between the switches, enough time for me to get killed or whatever. Just superannoying. And it has going on like this ever since I got my 3D vision kit ages ago. The computer freezes up, the screen goes black, then goes 2D for a split second, then freezes up and goes 3D again. Really really annoying.

Are you perchance running Win7 or Vista? Because what you describe sounds like the VGA driver resetting. This can be due to an unable OC, too much load on the GPU due to excessive quality settings or a temperature issue.

I have a factory [un]clocked Intel QX6850 processor with what I believe are the world largest CPU fan and metal thing that's on top of the CPU. Running @ 3 Ghz which I believe is factory default. My CPU temp's reaches 60 degrees on top.

My graphic card is a GTX 295 and I manually setup the fan to go @ 100 % of its performance whenever I launch a game. The temperature reaches no more than around 60 degrees.

The OS is Win 7 x64.

I believe my 3D exiting and reenabeling itself occurs even when I run low to mid quality settings with a whoopass framerate.

So with that said.. I don't think it's the temperatures? What else gives?

When I come to think about it, perhaps it doesn't act this way whenever the framerate is smooth. So I guess you could be right. I'll have to give it a little bit of trial and error.

Is your GTX295 overclocked? What you have to keep in mind is that not only the GPU can overheat, but also and in fact more importantly the voltage regulators on the PCB. What I would do is run a demanding graphics stress test such as the MSI Kombustor, and monitor vreg temps with Rivatuner. If you can run the Kombustor until the temps have maxed out and remain stable for a couple of hours, it's not your GPU.

Next thing would be to get prime95 and CoreTemp64. Use prime95 to stress test all 4 cores for at least 12 hours, whilst running CoreTemp 64 to monitor the temps.

Finally I'd set up a bootable CD with Memtest which allows you to test your RAM before booting the OS.

If all this passes your system should be stable and you do in fact have some problems with the 3D Vision Kit. One such could be a faulty PSU or other issues with the USB Host, but at this point that's just speculation.

Not to forget, the good old rule GIYF applies to all these steps.

Hope I could help.

Before I forget, you say you have these issues even at 'whoopass' fps. Maybe you should consider turning on vsync because ridiculously high fps can cause the vregs to vibrate so hard they actually start 'chirping'!

I'll be damn. You got a PhD in computers or something!? I'll keep your list of tasks to do when I find the time. But I sure do appreciate your input.
