Hi all
Got my first 3D kit in 10 years and just wondering if there are non-game 3D apps such as home design software, web browsers, desktop shells/docks, etc
Here I thought my 3D Vision would come with some sort of Minority Report-style software :) - instead all we get is 3dvisionlive.com which doesn't have very much content or resources for new owners
It would be nice if Nvidia got together with someone like Steam to integrate a filter for 3D Vision support, making them the de facto 'app store' for 3D Vision Ready apps and games

There's not much out there, but the novelty of wanting to use 3d vision for everything from email to online shopping will wear off pretty fast. You'll never want to go back to 2d gaming though.

It's kind of what they're already doing with their Tegrazone, which makes it super easy to find games that work properly on the nvidia Shield - many of which have been fixed or improved by nvidia themselves I believe.

My new 3d Vision kit has informed every purchase I've made on Steam since Xmas
Bought Tomb Raider, Trine 2, Hard Reset, and more just because of 3DV support, and didn't buy some great deals (Farcry 3) because of low ratings on the compatibility list

If the game says -=Helix Ready=- next to it, download the patch from the site and the game will be just as good as any "3D Vision Ready" title as designated by NVidia. Far Cry 3 is Helix Ready. Don't trust NVidia's ratings for games. Trust Helix and his mods.
I havent played Far Cry 3 yet, but I can tell you that Borderlands 2 and Skyrim are amazing after downloading the Helix mod.

I have played Far Cry 3, and I can assure you it's perfect in 3d with the Helix fix. You still have about 12 hours to pick it up.
As for games that are still on sale, you should absolutely pick up Arkham Origins, XCom, Bioshock Infinite, The Stanley Parable, Metro Last Light (this one is particularly mindblowing), Borderlands 2, and Dishonored. All work great in 3d (some need a helix fix), and all are great games.

Also, part of the reason I made the game list so people could vote on the ones they think are best:

Quite a few of those top games are still on sale for awhile longer.

Thank you, I heard about this mod but wondered could it trigger some sort of anti-cheat detection for modified files for online games and/or problems when the game is auto-updated to a new version by steam? I play a lot of Payday 2 online and would love to try this mod out but don't know if it could get me banned or break my ability to update
Do you know why games like LA Noire are on the list even though it's already 3D Vision Ready?
Thanks everyone -- here's hoping all of this modding becomes moot when Nvidia announces 3D Vision 3 in a few days with support for the 21-year-old OpenGL technology ;)

Thank you so much for that list! I've already bought a dozen things from it. How cool would it be to have your list in an online database of games (adding older games too), filterable by year (or all time), 3D user rating, etc

I've played a reasonable amount of Payday 2 with that fix. With rare exception, the mod doesn't need to modify game files, and it definitely won't affect updates.

The database is a bit stale, and the web layout is hideous, but it does have some good 3D info people have provided:

I can't really speak to anti-cheat systems flagging a helix mod. I havent played any multi player using one yet. One of the other members of this forum who has been around longer than I can probably give a better answer (Ive only had my 3D vision kit a couple more months than you have), but I have never seen anyone say it has been an issue for them.
As for why a 3D Vision Ready title would need a Helix fix??? Its because NVidia sucks and doesnt follow through when developers advertise using 3D Vision. Borderlands 2 is also 3D Vision Ready, but was released with broken PhysX and HUD issues and was never fixed. Thankfully Helix and Eqzitara came to the rescue and made it a glorious 3D title.
Here's a little rule of thumb about how to know if a game is going to be as good as it should for 3D.
1) NVidia rated 3D Vision and no Helix Mod (i.e. Batman Arkham or Metro titles)
-or-
2) Helix Ready
Anything else, you're rolling the dice and are likely to come across minor or major annoyances which really take away from the 3D experience.

I've never had an issue with any anti-cheat system + Helix mod (not to say it coulnd't happen, but I've never heard of anyone getting the ban-hammer and I've got hundreds/thousands of hours in multiplayer games myself).
