The Secret Word - Some tweaks to remove issues with S3D
2 / 3
Currently on sale on Amazon, 3/14 - 3/17 for $20 comes with $10 worth of in-game currency, which from what I hear is enough to buy the newest expansion.

This doesn't by any chance work with a 360 controller does it?
xpadder, I would never worry about if a game officially supports it, as you can get it working perfectly on any game for free ;-)

Yeah I don't know about that, it works well for somethings like FPS for instance but navigating the mouse with it is another story. I played a bit of The Witcher in 3D with a profile I made for the controller it worked, but it wasn't enough to hold me. I think it was the point and click combat that I didn't like if I remember right.

Do you need to navigate the mouse in the secret world? is it not a 3rd person affair? in which case, would you not just map the wasd keys? I have never tried mapping the mouse before :$ Only similar game I can think of is ffxi online, which I mapped to controller fine (but got bored after 30 mins and never played again). Good job it was part of a bundle :-)

I see price cuts all the time on different sites. Game is cheap as dirt nowadays. And is so good that it was my Game of the Year in 2012.

I've made an album with some nice screenshots of the game:
http://photos.3dvisionlive.com/3d4dd/album/51471a785ec3462a560000d9/
But as mentioned above You should be aware that there are still some issues:
Some (rare) water reflections: http://photos.3dvisionlive.com/3d4dd/image/51471c3b5ec3463c2d0000a4/
Grass textures/lighting: http://photos.3dvisionlive.com/3d4dd/image/51471aef5ec346202d000096/
using the low depth/high convergence trick can help in this case: http://photos.3dvisionlive.com/3d4dd/image/51471b135ec346b43b000099/
Also some fog layers are 2D but this isn't too obvious as there are also 3D fog layers/godrays.
And the sky is a little bit too close but not almost 2D as in other games with skybox issues.
So if You are allergic to any S3D anomaly You can really enjoy this game with its varied, detailed and impressive graphics.
@Kolreth: No I don't have the horror pet. Regarding "interactions" between pets: If two owners of Ak'habs stand in the right position their pets seem to mate ;)
@mindw0rk: You are right, the game is really worth buying and playing it!

My original display name is 3d4dd - for some reason Nvidia changed it..?!
I redownloaded all 40+ gigs of TSW last night, going to try it again. It was my 1st 3d game that I played, and it was awesome, I just didn't know how to use 3d properly then ( I thought I was blowing my eyes up with convergence)
That amusement park zone was pretty awesome in 3d as well.
Thx for the possible fixes, gonna try em out here shortly.

It's $22.49 on Steam right now. Does anyone know if using a Helix fix on the DX9 version would cause the game to be detected as hacked and not work or something?

Is anyone else playing it in 3d surround? If I drop the resolution to boost framerate, I end up with my middle screen letterboxed and the 2 side screens are fine.
Also it could be me, but I haven't actually noticed any anomalies in 3d yet. Is it further into the game when they show up or could it be one of those wierd SLI things going on?

@mike_ar69: Dx 9 has a lot of issues (lighting, etc.) compared to Dx 11. I'm not sure if all these issues could be fixed with Helixmod and offer a better S3D than Dx 11 in the end. But I've tested the game with the debug.dll from Helix and disabled some shaders - and I'm still playing TSW. So I wasn't blocked from the game ;)

Thanks for the reply. I went ahead and bought the game anyway and have been running DX11 and am really very happy with it as is, though I did notice some of the minor anomalies you pointed out. The whole thing looks so good otherwise I can overlook a few oddities :-) I have yet to try out your settings that you posted originally since I have literally really only got the thing installed, picked a character and started wandering around a bit, but I will definitely try them out. I had to reduce settings from Ultra because of frame rate issues (down to low 30s), and set the LODs from 4 to 3 (this had a big effect), but otherwise looking great (Tessellation is on for eg). I am glad I saw your post because I was interested in this game when it launched but don't like subscriptions so did not get it, then kinda forgot about it...

I'm sure if enough ppl posted bug reports and in the tech support forums the DX11 issues they will get attention, their income model requires them to keep cashed up subs in the game. I've been posting about them fairly regularly, and i see the occasional other person post the same things.

@mike_ar69: Good decision! I hope You will have as much fun with TSW as I have ;) My tweaks are more relevant in areas with higher visibility range or permanent rain. So I really felt the need to find a fix first when I arrived in Egypt and Transylvania.
