GTX 970 4K 3D VIsion gaming success with LGUB850V Passive TV

Thanks formicro !
Confirm this working, was doin my nut in as I was trying Raceroom, tried Asseto corsa and switching from acer edid to asetto corsa indeed does give 4k interleaved 3d and the picture quality is simply outstanding !
Such a shame that the sony 8505 4k has the colour bug like the old lg's did :( , tested this using various 4k interleaved sources, Powerdvd, Tridef, now Nvidia3D, Zalman edid does not fix the ghosting this time round, 4k interleaved at 24hz has no colourbug though, weird !
Jump in, join the fun :)
EDIT
Tried Raceroom and Project Cars, both games fail to bring up Windows+p so I have to alt tab out and then do it but this breaks the 3d and there is none, both running from steam
Bugging me alittle but its a good bug as again formicro found a holy grail :)

hell yaaaa, i'm happy that someone has success reproducing this" trick". Welcome to 4K 3D so :)
Which nvidia driver version did you use to achieve that ? 347.25 or 347.52 ?
.25, thought I was on latest driver but just checked and I'm not.
Awesome trick bro, stuff of legends :)

Grid autosport works also , Win+P takes me to desktop from where I select 4k display output ;), again this is from steam so steam games work I'm just having trouble with the 2 games I mentioned

Hey butmuncher,
The Driver you are using .25 has the ability to change the color format to RGB for desktop programs in the Nvidia Control Panel. Does this fix the color bug?
Also, tell me how 4k 3D looks in terms of the jaggies compared to a regular 1080 Passive 3D.

@buttmuncher/mocca
I was wondering the same thing about jaggies. Also, what about text? Is it better at 4K? Or worse because it's so small if the game doesn't scale it.
What about text using 1080P, since it would map 4 pixels to 1. Is it worse or better that a native 1080P Passive 3D HDTV?
I only use my passive Displays for movies if I have more friends over than active glasses.
Been playing all night.
Looks like when switching over to the 4k hdmi output it carries over the 1080p signal from the Acer edid dvi output, the $k output shows as 3840x2160 in the TV's own display info but you cant select any resolution higher than 1080p in the games settings, weird but true.
Jaggies look to me to look better than 2d 1080p, but then 2d 1080p looks abit poor on a 4k tv, looks abit like 720p looks on a 1080p display.
There's defo potential here for us to game again on 4k screens, I was sad when I 1st tried the Acer edid when I got the 4k tv as it never occurred to kme that 1080p interleaved wouldn't work on a 4k, so i'm leased as punch even though this Sony 8505 has a nasty colourbug.
The rgb option in Nvidia control panel disappears when 3840x2160/60hz is selected and only comes back when selecting 3840x2160/24hz:(, its there for other resolutions but not 4k/60hz :( :(
Soon as the rgb option disappears the colour bug gets introduced into the equation so theres something in the NVidia drivers that are fluffing up interleaved 3d at 3840x2160/60hz on my Sony.
Comparing this new 4k trick to a 1080p interleaved 3dtv I'd have to say the 4k trick does indeed look better although its been over a year since I had a 1080p passive so its hard to say, what I can vouch for is that the 3d does indeed look better than 1080p 2d on my tv.

Strange, by my side i can select whatever resolution i want when switching on my hdmi 2.0 input. I can set 4k, reverting to full hd, and back and forth.

I can from windows but not from in game, so I can select any res through windows or nvcp but 1080p is the highest ive seen in game settings so far, I'm busy now researching a fix for my colour issues, there allways has tobe something to drag me down lol
Tried,
Numerous tv settings from colour space to input names.
All hdmi inputs with all the various settings done for each one over and over.
Growl :)
@formicro
Is there any chance you could whip the edid from off your Lg and upload it so I can try, seen magical things happen with edids so its allways worth the shot if you have the time, no worries if you can't.

AWESOME GUYS!
Do you think its rendering full 4k or half 4k? By that i mean the strain on the video card.
The result on the screen is interlaced 4k, yes? Sound great either way.

Good thinking batman, we'll have to see what gpu is doing when switching, i'll do this now.
I personally think its displaying 1080p somehow but we'll soon find out with a gpu usage test :)

So switching from acer edid output to 4k output does indeed increase the gpu from 35/40% to 90/100% so it does look tobe outputting at the 4k res with 4k gpu usage ;)

With pre 275 drivers, you used to be able to launch certain games at 1280x720@120Hz to enable 3D. Then while the game is running, you could swap it to 1920x1080@120Hz but would get Nvidia's red warning overlay. The projector would handle the downsampling and of course GPU use would increase.
The difference here, is that your Display is capable of supporting the higher resolution.
So I wouldn't think that it's down sampling, but it is a possibility.
