If you want true fullscreen, use a custom resolution that only has 120Hz. Although you risk getting the "image inside image" bug in cutscenes that they didn't totally fix. I don't have that Windows 10 update yet. My fix is good, but not perfect. I wonder what's up with that shader (sea water, for example) that does a kind of spiral effect when increasing convergence (x and y axes are wrong instead of just x).

I tried this game after I got the Windows 10 update. Man, it really screws this game and especially Blazblue Centralfiction. I had to use CRU to delete all refresh rates except 120Hz, and in Blazblue's case even use the 3D-hub profile to use 3D in borderless fullscreen (in real 120Hz fullscreen, for some reason the game content wasn't in 3D). It's not like I use any other refresh rate other than 120Hz (sometimes 100Hz)... but it's still annoying. I'll rely on custom resolutions for other refresh rates if I feel like I need them.

I am getting this annoying red "attempting to run 3D in a non 3D supported resolution"-message (game is running in 1920x1080) and all the fixes that usually help in that case (switching to another resolution and then switching back, switching to Windowed and then switching back to Fullscreen) doesn't solve the problem here. Any idea?

Maybe update the 3DMigoto DLL and try the refresh rate override?

This is a DX9 game, DSS. I wish it were a DX11 game to use 3Dmigoto, like the DMC HD Collection. @lohan_0903: the problem is that the game (or Windows) is forcing the wrong refresh rate. These are your options: - Use a custom resolution that only has 120Hz. - Use Custom Resolution Utility to delete ALL your refresh rates other than 120Hz. New drivers will restore this, or the CRU restore function. I had tried the second one before uninstalling the game recently (due to FFXV's size). Strangely enough, Skyrim SE does the same thing, but with 3Dmigoto I can force 120Hz. I'll update that fix sometime soon.

I have another suggestion: using SpecialK to force 120Hz. I just needed to do it now for Tales of Zestiria (the screen kept flashing and the game not booting while showing the logo) and Tales of Berseria. Under "[Render.FrameRate]", set "RefreshRate=120" instead of "RefreshRate=-1". Berseria has the refresh rate setting under "[Render.D3D9]". But to do this in Bayonetta (IF it doesn't complain about the Helixmod dll), you need to use SpecialK as "d3d9.dll" and rename the Helixmod dll to something else, and then load it in SpecialK's "d3d9.ini". Like this: [Import.visiond3d9] Architecture=Win32 Filename=visiond3d9.dll When=Late Role=d3d9 Tell me if it works. It has just saved Tales of Zestiria and Berseria for me. For DX11 games, if this happens, 3Dmigoto should be enough with its own refresh rate setting.

A few months later and multiple Windows 10 updates, and I try to play this game. It's a failure. I am affected by the windows updates breaking stuff issue as well. When using Fullscreen mode, the game forces 60Hz mode. I can force 3D Vision to run but at 60Hz it's unusable. When using Borderless Windowed mode, 3D Vision no longer works, There is definitely a small stutter when pressing CTRL+T, which means 3D Vision is trying to do something but fails. I cannot use 3D Migoto's side by side mode, nor force 120Hz mode because this game is DX9. After two hours of trying every compatibility setting I know about and hundreds of attempts ticking every checkbox in 3D vision manager, I couldn't get the game to play in 3D at all.

Check what I said in my previous comment. I've tried multiple DX9 games with Special K, and its method of forcing 120Hz works fine in Windows 10.

It was a bit difficult to learn how SpecialK works, but I successfully managed to get it working. I got Bayonetta running great at 120Hz 3D Vision, including the fix like before the Windows 10 update. I used this guide to understand how Special K works https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=933337066 Just in case an other noob like me comes around and reads this, here is the short version : [.]Rename the 3D Fix in your Bayonetta folder (Steam\steamapps\common\Bayonetta) because SpeclialK will need this file name for itself Change d3d9.dll to something like visiond3d9.dll (remember that name you'll need it in a later step) Do not modify the name of DX9Settings.ini[/.] [.]Go to Kaldaien's SpecialK Github page https://github.com/Kaldaien/SpecialK/releases and download SpecialK's installer "SKIM.exe" or "SKIM64.exe" (32 or 64bit version depending on your OS) The installer will automatically download and install the latest version of SpecialK to your Documents/My Mods folder (don't change it, it's fine there)[/.] [.]Use the freshly installed SKIM (or SKIM64)located in "Documents\My Mods\SpecialK\" to Start Injecting[/.] [.]Start the game Bayonetta in 2D This step will create a new SpecialK profile for this game located in "Documents\My Mods\SpecialK\Profiles\Bayonetta\" In game, the Special K overlay should appear[/.] [.]Optional : If you don't want to have to turn on and off SpecialK every time, you can install all the files inside Bayonetta's folder instead of using the Documents/My Mods Folder using the following procedure. While inside the game : -press CTRL + SHIFT + Backspace to open SpecialK's UI -Go to File->Install Wrapper DLL for this game, this will add SpecialK's d3d9.dll to the game's folder, but the config file is still in your Documents\My Mods folder -close the game and turn off SpecialK's injection -In your Bayonetta intall folder, delete the SpecialK.central file[/.] -Restart the game in 2D, SpecialK will create a new config file in the game's folder [.]You then will have 4 different files -->Special K4s files located in "Documents\My Mods\SpecialK\Profiles\Bayonetta\" : d3d9.dll d3d9.ini -->3D Vision fix files in Bayonetta's installation folder : visiond3d9.dll DX9Settings.ini or if you performed the optional item above : all 4 files will be in Bayonetta's installation folder [/.] Then just like Masterotaku said : [.]In SpecialK's d3d9.ini Under [Render.FrameRate] Change : RefreshRate=-1 to RefreshRate=120[/.] Add a new section at the end of the config file : [Import.visiond3d9] Architecture=Win32 Filename=visiond3d9.dll When=Late Role=d3d9 [.]Optional, There are plenty of scenes in this game where the game mysteriously bottlenecks and is unable to maintain 60fps in stereo even though neither the CPU nor GPU is running at 100%. By default, the game uses double buffering and rapidly switches between 60fps and 30fps which feels horrible. I strongly recommend to use SpecialK to force triple buffering to smoothen out the framerate. Cinematics are still locked at 30fps, but at least the gameplay should feel much smoother. Under [Render.FrameRate] Change : BackBufferCount=-1 to BackBufferCount=2[/.] [.]Save everything and start the game in 3D (full screen mode), hopefully, it should work like it did for me[/.]

I used this guide to understand how Special K works https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=933337066

Just in case an other noob like me comes around and reads this, here is the short version :

• Rename the 3D Fix in your Bayonetta folder (Steam\steamapps\common\Bayonetta) because SpeclialK will need this file name for itself
Change d3d9.dll to something like visiond3d9.dll (remember that name you'll need it in a later step)
Do not modify the name of DX9Settings.ini

• Go to Kaldaien's SpecialK Github page https://github.com/Kaldaien/SpecialK/releases
and download SpecialK's installer "SKIM.exe" or "SKIM64.exe" (32 or 64bit version depending on your OS)
The installer will automatically download and install the latest version of SpecialK to your Documents/My Mods folder (don't change it, it's fine there)

• Use the freshly installed SKIM (or SKIM64)located in "Documents\My Mods\SpecialK\" to Start Injecting

• Start the game Bayonetta in 2D
This step will create a new SpecialK profile for this game located in "Documents\My Mods\SpecialK\Profiles\Bayonetta\"
In game, the Special K overlay should appear

• Optional : If you don't want to have to turn on and off SpecialK every time, you can install all the files inside Bayonetta's folder instead of using the Documents/My Mods Folder using the following procedure.
While inside the game :
-press CTRL + SHIFT + Backspace to open SpecialK's UI
-Go to File->Install Wrapper DLL for this game, this will add SpecialK's d3d9.dll to the game's folder, but the config file is still in your Documents\My Mods folder
-close the game and turn off SpecialK's injection
-In your Bayonetta intall folder, delete the SpecialK.central file
• -Restart the game in 2D, SpecialK will create a new config file in the game's folder

• You then will have 4 different files
-->Special K4s files located in "Documents\My Mods\SpecialK\Profiles\Bayonetta\" :
d3d9.dll
d3d9.ini
-->3D Vision fix files in Bayonetta's installation folder :
visiond3d9.dll
DX9Settings.ini

or if you performed the optional item above : all 4 files will be in Bayonetta's installation folder

• Then just like Masterotaku said :

• In SpecialK's d3d9.ini
Under [Render.FrameRate]
Change : RefreshRate=-1 to RefreshRate=120

• Add a new section at the end of the config file :
[Import.visiond3d9]
Architecture=Win32
Filename=visiond3d9.dll
When=Late
Role=d3d9

• Optional, There are plenty of scenes in this game where the game mysteriously bottlenecks and is unable to maintain 60fps in stereo even though neither the CPU nor GPU is running at 100%.
