Do you think a gtx260 is good enough?
and how bout that tri-core proc??[/quote]
A 260 GTX would be Okay. If you get the new 260 GTX with a smaller Die shrink, you can overclock it well
You will not get 50 - 60 FPS on every game, I don't even with a 295 gtx, but you should do much better than 2 8800 GT in SLI. Later down the road you can pick another one up and SLI it!!
I would still recommend a quad core for future proofing
I am the guy you talked to on the phone!!

Like I said, don't waste the money on the 260, if you are going to do it go with the 295. It's the only one that will have any longevity when comparing to the next series of cards. Then of course you wont' get the full effect from it unless you upgrade the rest of the system. As suggested, go with INTEL.. I used to be a hard core AMD nut, and decided that Intel simply had the edge. If on a budget, get the Q6600, it overclocks well. Otherwise the Core I7 is the way to go, and that means the 920, as it overclocks well also. It's without a doubt going to really cost to do it, that means MB, CPU, Ram (2G times 3), and PS.. None of the components will be cheap, when you get to that level, but if you want your money to be well spent it's the only way. You have to figure on about a grand to do it, but it will be worth it. Forget the AMD's, Intel has buried them now. Look at Tomshardware and check out the performance charts for CPU's. Of course you could just stick with what you have for now and wait for the prices to drop a little. In what order you do the upgrades is up to you, but you will have to do it all to get there. Happy gaming
