Thanks for the fix, mx-2. Unfortunately, with my setup (Windows 10, Steam host, passive 4K EDID - Optimized for NVIDIA GeForce mode), I have the same initial problem that Duerf reported previously. I can also see "use Helixmod x64" when the game starts (indicating successful export/mod/import profile process), but the fix never engages. Neither Desktop shortcut nor direct game launch from Windows Steam folder (Duerf's solution) enables correct operation of fix.
I also tried using this fix under Windows 8.1 with my setup, but the game did still did not work correctly. I have a very small number of games that do not work correctly under Windows 10 with my setup, but work great under Windows 8.1 (including XCOM 2, Lords of the Fallen, and Just Cause 3).

I don't know if anyone is still interested in this but I made Risen 1-3 work with the Steam version. The solution was simply to also copy the "ShaderOverride" folder and "DX9Settings.ini" to the root folder of the game. This is automatically done with 3D Fix Manager 1.52 from now on.
