Modern Warfare 3 3D Vision
  1 / 5
It's coming out in about a week and I haven't found any info if it is 3D Vision compatible (frankly haven't looked around for info much either). The game will most likely be a turd just like the latest few in the franchise, but they worked quite well in 3D. I've read that they are using a new engine with this new one so info on 3D compatibility would be appreciated. I just wish BF3 gets it's proper 3D Vision support soon. Otherwise I might actually have play MW3 SP (if it has 3D support) instead of BF3 SP, and that is not something I ever thought I would have to do.

I think it will work fine, it's the same engine, besides I think I read it supported 3d

I'm not sure we are playing the same games... for example.... COD MW2 in my opinion is HORRIBLE and unplayable using 3d Vision when you compare it to TRIDEF. I mean, for starters the 3D vision engine can not achieve any good depth in this game without making the gun divide and be unusable and then the crosshair is all messed up too. I'll stop there because what's the point of having 3D glasses weighing on my nose if the game I'm playing has no depth... especially when Tridef costs $30.

I think somewhere long ago the term "3D Vision compatible" got confused with the term "3D enjoyable".

To me 3D visions biggest advantage over Tridef and IZ3D is that 3D Vision has SLI support... helps a heck of a lot in GTA IV for example(in which 3D Vision is by far the best for that game)...

... but COD series? fail big time. Don't expect big things from MW3 and 3D Vision... I won't say I told you so when it comes out.

I'm expecting MW3 to be fail and I don't mean the 3D, I mean the game.

I'm expecting Black Ops 'lag' issues with this. Infinity Ward isn't Infinity Ward without the people who left, and the series has become totally console focused.
What I'm doing is waiting to see if it's got major problems after it's released and taking it from their.

MW2 has a rating of "Excellent" in 3D and it's well deservered minus the crosshair issue. MW1 on the other hand is just about perfect in 3D as it has a 3D crosshair.

We'll have to see how the Nvidia driver handles the engine.

The key word in that Read it is "fad". 3D is not mainstream and imho has a long way to go before many use it as general everyday entertainment in home. Stereoscopic 3D is ok, infact quite good but i'm in the minority. I would rather a game company concentrate their vision on a more feature complete and polished game rather than 3d tech if i'm honest.

Hi All

With some preliminary testing of this game, I dont think its going to look great in 3D due to some rendering issues. However, I will have to wait to see the final build of the game.

Well I dont want you to do that since the game will still be fun in 2D mode with a 120Hz monitor. Let me ask you that - even if they game isnt wonderful in 3D, dont you enjoy playing it in 2D at 120Hz?

Hi Andrew,

Sorry, & I'm obviously only speaking for myself here & sorry for butting in.

But NO, once you've played Metro 2033 & Dirt 3 in 3D on a huge projector screen there's just NO going back. This last year I feel has been a disaster for 3D games with only a few of the AAA titles fully supporting it.

I understand you have no control what so ever over developers, but some of the comments they themselves have come up with "3D is a fad & won't last" and so on and so on does make me wonder if NVIDIA is doing enough to try to sell 3D to them & show them just how amazingly good it can be..

<Minor Rant Over....>

Unbelievable!

Game will probably sell more than 25 million copies like last game in series!
All MW games have been a showcase for 3DVision in the past, and worked well virturally from release.
Now your are telling us that game looks bad in 3D because of "rendering issues".

Don't know whether to be dissapointed in developer or Nvidia for letting the 3DVision faithful down on this marquis title.
Will probably be purchasing Battlfield 3 instead. Oh wait 3DVision not working there either.

Unless you get these blockbuster titles to work with 3DVision I fear that Nvidia is relegating 3DVision to a niche or marginal product.
Conversely, the incredible visual presentations of these two titles, delivered using the full potential stereoscopic 3D will help you make 3DVision a mainstream product.

Best wishes.

I love 3d and I play nearly every single game in 3d if possible, but, I bought BF3 and I am loving it with perfect SLI support running 2d at 120Hz.
I'm gutted that it's such a struggle still to get 3d support out of the box especially with high profile blockbusters, but I do think it suits RPG/single player games more.

Just tried it with 3d, 3d isnt that bad, some objects render incorrectly, smoke dosnt render properly and flashes, crosshair is 2d.
For me its unplayable just because of the crosshair, hopefully nvidia will fix it when they release a profile.

At least you can turn 3d on in mw3 and it has no profile yet unlike bf3 which you cant even activate 3d and it has a 3d vision ready profile but ive read that its a ea problem and not nvidias and will be fixed in a patch
