ISSUE WITH 3DTV PLAY ACTIVATION
  2 / 2
I don't know what to tell you. Officially that monitor is not supported via 3DTV Play or 3D Vision. Tis a shame that Samsung opted not to pay the licensing fee to have it certified. Especially since it is so beautiful with the glossy panel, I wish that Asus, Acer and other would offer a glossy panel that works with 3D Vision. Matte is just so lifeless when compared to glossy :( If you do figure out a way to get it to work, be sure to disable the HyperReal Engine or it will have lots of cross talk.
Hello Guys, Sorry, I'm a noob and don't understand all. I tried to make work 3D TV PLAY but on my Samsung S23A750D without any success. I've found that Acer-HN274H-B-3D-Monitor is compatible with 3D TV Play and that my monitor has a similar profile. I tried to edit an EDID but nothing. Am I trying something possible or am I totally lost :)? Have a nice day. Johann.
Umm no... That monitor is supported via 3D Vision and has an internal 3D Vision emitter. If you use the EDID, you need an external emitter to unlock the drivers.

Johann, did you make it through the obstacles? I've been using the Samsung S27A950 since 2013. You need to do an edid override. Its a bit complicated in the beginning but you get used to it as time goes by with new drivers being released. Its very simple actually. Not entirely sure the 23" will work with the same edids im using. You might want to make use of TsaebehT's depth hack to find the sweet spot for your IPD. His bypass certainly takes the safety wheels off. But I think when the edid tells the drivers its a 23" instead of a 27" you might get more depth out of it "naturally". You will need to see a 3D Vision ready logo where the 3DTV Play logo is displayed. Then you are ready to go. This is a shitty monitor for 3d Vision since the drivers switch it off after you exit 3D applications instead of just turning 3d off. Would love to know why the drivers confuse the 3d features with the power. But I guess it is a bypass after all. So you will be switching your monitor on 5 times more than you're supposed to. Games also takes 5 times longer to load. For the joy of 3dVision I learned to live with it. Im curious if its possible to make yours work, how it will work and why nVidia offered 3dtv play for this monitor. I never saw this option. Only 3d Vision discover. The other day 3dVision stopped working on my benq W1070 and said my 3dTV-play trail period expired. Unhesitatingly I went over to the website to buy a license. Didnt care what the price was. Only to find out later I forgot to re-plug my "3d Vision Ready" monitor, which lends a legal hand to the W1070. As far as Im concerned the emitter wont help you. nVidia blocked this bypass shortly after they must have found out about this trick when using the IR emitter to give the unsupported monitor clearance into 3d Vision. But I would encourage you to buy it anyway.

Francom? Francomg. I forget, it was one or the other, if not very similar. But he had the 950 and used it with a special EDID he made. So I know it works in 3D Vision. Years ago, there was a dedicated thread for this monitor, but over 50% of the thread was deleted by Nvidia. I do know that at the time, it was working by accessing the drivers via generic CRT, Shortly there after, Nvidia removed generic crt, possibly because of this monitor. Since then, they have re-introduced generic crt into the drivers.

Hi KoelerMeester, D-Man, KoelerMeester, I almost gave up. Looks difficult to make work this monitor with 3DTV Play. I haven't fond any one in the same case with same monitor. I've finaly managed to override to Acer-HN274H-B-3D-Monitor. I just needed to restart my computer in safe mode and disable driver restriction (F7). But I understood that I was ready to play thrhough 3D vision, not 3DTV play ;( .... at least I've learned something and it's getting clearer now :) KoelerMeester, which TV model did you select for your override? Thank You both for your time and for your answers!!

You can see on guru3D - "Why 3D Gaming failed?" that someone else also succeeded. Scratch around in those piles of info. I used the same EDID as you for a long time but using the ASUS ini now. No significant difference. Think the Acer ini is a little bit more stable than ASUS' though. Yes it was a bit confusing. But when you see the difference between Tridef's halved side by side resolution and 3d Vision you dont really care about all the trouble right? Quality of frame sequential is way better.
But I understood that I was ready to play through 3D vision, not 3DTV play ;(
You mean you thought you were ready to go via "3DTV play", not "3D Vision Ready"? Its like D-Man said, you're using a monitor and not a TV. 3DTV play is not supposed to be an option. Unless this is what D-Man means with "Since then, they have re-introduced generic crt into the drivers." and why 3DTV play now offers an option? Its a mistake/restriction by nVidia. Since nVidia had so many agreements and contracts with screen manufacturers they couldn't really un-do them just for the sake and joy of the few caught up in this confusion. nVidia would be sued for millions, if not billions for breaking these agreements. But this is just speculation. Perhaps these agreements have terminated??? Some very poor and greedy decisions were made at the rise of 3D Vision. But we might not have had this discussion if Stereo-scopic gaming became successful and mainstream. As long as you own a license you could enjoy 3D vision with a clear conscience ;) So far I know you wont be able to use Frame Sequential with 3dTV play. Frame sequential used to be superior to all other 3D modes. Not 100% sure it still is. Think the best 3D is still the original passive solution that released with Avatar. But the only popular passive 3d solution now is the 4K LG tv many here are raving about. Very expensive and yet still suffers from ghosting. Personally I love the almost-ghost-free design of DLP in its 720p restriction. Ghosting/cross-talk is something you might have noticed already. It happens in high contrasted scenes where light and dark pixels interfere with the illusion needed for 3d. Almost like broken shaders. The best/worst examples of ghosting you could find is in Mirrors Edge. Is your monitor also switching off after closing 3d applications? At one stage I read through all 175 pages from a S27A950D fan based club for this range of monitors on overclock.net where I learned many interesting things but nothing helpful for these crash and lag issues. On 3d Vision blog no one responded with a solution in 5 years. Just to spare you some trouble. Not worth looking for a solution. You would have to do research and fix it yourself like this guy D-Man is talking about:
he had the 950 and used it with a special EDID he made.
If you could speak German there are more discussions on this monitor over there that might have a solution. How do you find 3d Vision so far?
