Right Eye of 3D Vision Glasses flickering since 260.99
  1 / 2
Heya,

I own the 3D Vision Kit and 2 3D Vision Glasses.
Since the Driver Version 260.99 I get strange Sync-Errors between Glasses and 3D Vision Emitter (USB).
If I install a newer driver version and starting the 3D Setup Assistant I'll get a strange flickering every 3-5 seconds on the
right eye (glasses). The right eye turns black for miliseconds and it make the 3d mode unwatchable.

This is no hardware defect because i'll get this sync- error on both glasses and with older driver versions (260.99 for example) all went fine.

It has nothing to do with the refresh rate (I played around with this). And also I uninstalled all driver before reinstalling the newer ones.

Please tell me what I am doing wrong or if it is an known bug in newer Nvidia Drivers (would be very, very annoying).

My System Specs:

Nvidia GTS 450
Acer H5360 (Beamer @ 120 HZ)
Windows 7 (64 bit)

If that were a normal issue, these boards would be on fire!

When you do your driver upgrades, have you been updating the USB driver as well? In the 260 days you had to download the whole CD again and install from that. Just updating the video driver would leave the USB driver for the glasses unchanged, which can cause some crazy problems. NVIDIA started including the USB drivers with the video drivers with the last release.

I would suggest getting the latest beta drivers (which include some fixes for USB problems) and install those. You don't need to uninstall first but you might want to select the 'clean install' option to clear out any strange stuff that might have gotten into your registry. Make sure you pick the custom option so you can make sure that all the 3D options are selected. That will get your USB drivers updated.

Yeah you re right it seems not to be a normal issue but i wondering that i got it so i asked.
thougt it maybe has something to do with my system specs.

I also uninstalled the 3d Vision Controller Driver seperatly.
So I guess I was ready for fresh install.

I ever checked new install in installer and I tried a lot.

I'll now check if it is maybe a power issue on usb port.

I don't have the issue.
They've certainly been playing with the USB drivers a lot recently, pretty much evert recent driver has required a USB driver upgrade, which wasn't at all common in older drivers.
That Video clearly shows the emitter going into an odd state, since everyone isn't having the issue I would have to assume it's some sort of software or hardware incompatibility on your system.
Why don't you start by listing your hardware.

I'll post my hardware later, just sitting on another pc at the moment.
The PC where I got the 3D Vision system plugged is in my living room (media center PC: AMD quad core, 4 GB Ram, Win 7 64 bit).
I usually use it to watch 3D Blue Rays with Power DVD and this works fine for me with the 260.99 driver and the 260.81 3D Vision Controller driver. But since 260.99 the 3D Vision Controller driver is integrated in the usual graphics driver releases.

It's just frustrating because I understand what your intention is to ask me about my hardware specs, but the problem is that with
older drivers I got no problems. So on my sight it just have to be an driver issue.

@Scoop007: Which System Specs (esp. display) do you got (Acer H5360)?

Did you try the latest beta drivers? They have a fix for USB problems on some AMD based motherboards.

Yes tried them (newest beta drivers) it's still the same issue.

@Sccop007: It's not my Acer which is flickering, it's the right eye on my glasses which is flickering every 4-5 seconds.

This sounds more like an interference problem with the emitter.
You should try going through the setup again and selecting the many IR sources box to see if it has any effect, it's hard to believe that the type of display would make any difference although NVidia do hardcode timings for the glasses by display so I guess it's possible.

Hi,

Thanks for the suggestion. I usually try this option as i have to. If not then every time i start a 3d game it activates a function on my cable box.

-> Did this everytime while setting up 3D Vision.

I really don't understand why nvidia don't split the 3d vision controller driver from the regular 3d vision, graphic driver release? The old one 260.81 is really working fine for me.

Hello,

I'm having the same sync problems with my Acer H5360 projector when running 3D vision.

3D Vision works perfectly with my Asus VG236H monitor, I bought the Acer H5360 2 days ago so I was already running driver version 270.61 with my GTX480. I've connected my graphics card to the PJ with a VGA cable, i've tried a couple of adapters with the cable, DVI-D Dual Link to VGA (all the pins) and a DVI-A to VGA, this didn't make any difference (not that I thought it would). I've tried it in both DVI slots with my monitor unplugged, I've also tried the latest beta drivers (GeForce Driver v275.27) with the same result and obviously I've tried all the settings that might make a difference on the PJ and in the setup wizard in the nvidia control panel with no success.

I don't know where to go from here except installing older nvidia drivers but this would only be a temporary solution. (It may be time for a fresh OS install this weekend)

I assume there are people successfully running 3D Vision on an Acer H5360 over VGA with the latest Nvidia drivers...?

Any help or experience from someone who has resolved this problem would be vey much appreciated.
