First off, I would like to say that I am convinced that 3D made me realize that the technology can create such beautiful sights, and can immerse the much more frightening games out there. But when it comes to both, Metro 2033 was the game that made me get 3D for a reason. I started off small, computer that would barely handle 25fps in the spectacular views, the sight exhilarated me, it was beauty amongst the barren of destruction.
I became curious of what it COULD look like, so I upgraded. I then was able to handle the game at 1080p, as beautiful as it looked, I wanted more, as gorgeous as it could get, I found the existence of a 3D monitor, and I went after it.
I became immersed into the world, feeling sorrow for the characters and tremble at the sights of the creatures that lunge at me with a screech that sends chills scratching my skin, raising every hair upon its path. I feel that I understand the world of Metro 2033, and have dreams to accomplish with such a franchise that could be much more popular than it is. With such incredible music, amazing characters that never have been seen before in any game, and an atmosphere that create sights enough to make you wonder.
Within life, schooling and philosophy, I have learned that an idea, is something that no one can truly harness until you've shared it, either by reading, storytelling, gaming, or by film. Dmitry Glukhovsky created a world unimaginable, destroyed and ruptured by mankind themselves. I read his work and fell in love with every little detail in the devastated world of our own. But I wanted more in his works, I want his idea to be shared not only with reading, and not only with gaming, but with film.
That is then truly what my heart pursuits. I have gotten applications to go to school to direct, from various areas like LA private schools to some in Texas where I currently live. But then I thought to myself, it will cost me around $32,000 a year. As for personal info, I recorded and was the cameraman and director of some films in school and surpassed those who did the same and created films and acted in the film also , and did a lot of filming for sports that helped me in my technique in recording. So then I thought about just doing an independent film with the ideas that I have planned and written. I am young and able to take as long as I have to, but have to beat the major film dudes before they do one of course.
As then comes to the conclusion, that I am need of help with such an idea that nearly seems impossible to most people, but then again, I like to take chances for the things I truly enjoy, and feel that I can do good in this line of work. To me, nothing is impossible, I feel that my idea can be shared in the filming industry with good commitment and patience.
Pros-
I have the idea, I just need the location where to create it, as in the area, underground areas, abandoned with permission to film and roam freely without a train to run me over. I'm aiming for survival horror and action.
The camera, I own a 3D monitor, so I am able to shoot the film in 3D. I know methods to enhance visual and know friends who can add special effects. So I need to know what camera to get.
Music, the games score was fantastic, and the rifts it has can be catchy, and it isn't so hard to cover, have to credit Anthesteria of course.
People, I know people who can act, but I have to get the perfect person to fill the roles, but for the main character, I have myself.
Money, its not the thing stopping me, but the illusion of making it longer to create, money is never the issue for me. A lot of films great films can be created without using big bucks, but can be limited in the amount of special effects. ex. ever heard of paranormal activity?
Cons-
Rights, I am not so truly sure about this one, am I able to use Dmitry's work and credit him and all of the ideas and music 4A has done also? 4A games created the visual life and they must be credited hugely also.
Americanization, I don't want to take away the aspect the game has, but I planned and wrote it in our land, but made it parallel to the world that it was born in.
Location, location location, it creates travel time and where to go pretty tough, but it never gets in my way of lovely traveling.
Ghosts! In my script, the ghosts play a pretty hefty role, and the effects used in the game are very realistic.
Overall, thank you if you read all of my writing, I really want this to be my line of work. It is my dream, and a trailer for my idea is my first goal. And who knows, if I do good enough, the major film industry might make me a deal. Thank you, your opinion would really help.
