3D Blu Ray Disc

I was able to get the emitter working!!!

Here's what I did...

1) Enable 3D Vision in control panel.
2) Start test 3D functionality. You will get VESA unplugged error message across your screen.
3) Switch DLP TV to HDMI 3 & turn 3D mode on. Turn on 3D Vision glasses, 3D Vision emitter should turn bright green and glasses should flicker

Monsters Vs. Aliens 3D Blu-Ray looks amazing! Images really pop out & depth is terrific.

If you don't get it to work then download the Activator.exe found here; http://www.mtbs3d.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?...;p=45646#p45646

Once you've run the exe, use taskmgr to end process. This is the only way to end the program from running. Now repeat steps 1-3 and it should work for you.

Well, maybe this will help to get us somewhere: http://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/904098-n...ers-25715-beta/ . These drivers enable 3D Blu Ray (Keep in mind that they are beta drivers). I also realize that we still need the codec, but it is a step in the right direction. :)

Anyone know why the 8000 and 9000 series are supported for 3D but not for 3D Bluray? Is it a security issue or just an arbitrary restriction Nvidia have added to the driver?

At this point in time we are not sure also why the GT 240 is the only 2xx series card officially supporting 3D Blu-ray either. We know that the GT 240, GT 3xx and GT 4xx all have a newer hardware MPEG decoding chip. It is possible that without this, the extra processing required for 3D blu-ray will put too much processing on the CPU meaning that nVidia cannot qualify whether it will or will not work in your set-up.

I suspect that for those with higher end CPUs etc, it may still work.

Interesting. TomsHardware posted results showing a 2.5Ghz Triple Core Athlon could handle software decode and it looks like the new PowerDVD is nicely multithreaded for software decode.

I have a dual Xeon L5335 so I'm pretty sure I can handle the software decode; maybe Nvidia are just listing Bluray3D acellerated cards rather than what is actually needed for 3D Bluray.

That is the reason for sure. The newer chips can decode multiple video streams at once. :)

The cards that they list can hardware decode 3D Blu Ray (meaning they will perform a lot smoother). Other solutions most likely can software decode it.

This may have already been answered in a post since May 25th, but shortly after getting my GS 250 card I asked nVidia support about this issue, and was told that the 240 was the minimum card for which blu-ray 3d support would work.

I'm not worrying until the CyberLink Power DVD ultra update comes out.
