Well now, setting Mesh quality to Low does in fact make a huge difference. In many of the areas where I was getting exactly 40fps before I was now getting the max 60fps. If it wasn't 60fps, at least it was still higher than the rock-solid 40fps from before and appeared to be because, at least sometimes, I was maxing out hardware. There are definitely still times where I am getting less than 60fps when it looks like hardware is only at ~50%, but they are much fewer and farther between. For the first time, I actually played in 3D and it was glorious. Yes the popping-in of some items is more noticeable now, but being able to get a solid 60fps for long periods of time where I was previously limited to 40 is easily worth it. Many thanks Pelter!

Think I'll try that myself as well! Never expected massive framerates with my 470's in 3d, but it does struggle now and again, particularly on outdoor levels even in single player :-)

Thank you very much Badelhas, you helped a lot, i read the whole case and somehow i started to understand the issue here, its a bit new stuff for me since it is my first time to do SLI and 3D Vision together. Thanks again for your help, much appreciated.

You are welcome :)

People, does the MESH setting indeed improves the framerate? Whats the downside?

Cheers

Why don't you try it and report back? I tried it on my 470's and didn't notice much of a difference to be honest. They were probably struggling for other reasons though, especially at 1920x1080. I might try again at a lower resolution, but not that bothered about the framerate to be honest, as it looks great.

I can confirm with mesh on low, 60 fps 100% of the time. Never a hiccup or a drop. Everything else sent to ultra, fxaa on high, no msaa. Played Caspian 64 player.

I also have 680s in SLI with 3930k at 4.8.

With that kind of rig why dont you use MSAA? Isnt it much better looking than fxaa?

Unfortunately the game in 3d still suffers from low gpu usage, so msaa is not an option if you want an unhitched 60 fps. 2xmsaa in 3d works quite good, but drops from time to time. Obviously in 2d i run 4xmsaa at over 130fps. Game requires optimization in 3d.

Yeah I have to do the same thing too in 3D, MSAA has to be off due to lower gpu utilization or else performance will suffer because of it.

I'm glad however that the low mesh fix works well for you :D.

Hi guys

I just wanted to let everyone know that with lucid enabled on my motherboard I get a solid 60fps, it dropped to 59 once when I took a screenshot. If I look at the floor it also remains 60fps, I have ULTRA detail enabled without MSAA and VSYNC. Not sure if its due to Virtu graphics, but here are some screenshots in 3D :)

IS there a way of improving the convergence?

Thanks for the low mesh fix info, that helped a lot!

Can you change convergence in this game? For me its off a little bit and the guns look a little too big.

This game has the most advanced graphics engine on the market. Don't you expect this game to not run smoothly with all the bells-n-whistles WITH 3D enabled too? That's asking for too much IMO. Especially with 64-player maps and huge destructible environments.
