New RTX 2070 and 3D Vision
  2 / 2
Before you e-bay it, try this: Install the GTX 1070 in the PC (you can plug it side-by-side with your current GPU). Connect the Monitor to the 1070 on DVI. Run something in 3D and see if it works. Presumably it will work. Power off the PC (KEEP the monitor powered on). Plug the Monitor in the RTX 2070 using the DP adapter (You can remove the GTX 1070 if you want). Power on and try 3D Vision. These adapters seem to filter some packets that are required to "arm" the monitor and switch to 3D Mode. (I think what you see is your monitor not switching to 3D mode and hence the blurriness). If this works, the trick is simple. You need a DVI connection to arm your monitor in 3D WHEN it looses power (When you unplug the monitor). I had to do this for all my 3 Monitors since all of them are working on adapters :) (And that's why I bought a cheapo GTX 650 - for £30 - from ebay just for this:)) )

Thanks Helifax - will give it a try when the 1070 arrives (this whole thing started when my 1060 began failing in my old Alienware Area 51 and I was forced to start anew) later today. So, there is no issue with different drivers co-existing for the 2070 and 1070?

Paraphrasing George Castanza in "Seinfeld"... I'm back, baby! Ended up swapping the 2070 for the 1070 (for the time being - additional 6-pin and 8-pins on order.) So far, so good... initial test of Anthem and CMU went flawlessly (and looks great for those who haven't tried the game yet.) Thanks again, guys, for all of your help. Question; When the time comes and I attempt running both gpus, is my 600w psu going to be enough?

I got this to work using my USB type-c port on my RTX 2080 MSI graphics card. The cable was a DVI-D to type c. They sell them on Amazon, and at Fry's electronics. I have an Asus vg236he. Cable Matters USB C to DVI Cable (USB-C to DVI Cable) in Black 6 Feet - Thunderbolt 3 Port Compatible for MacBook Pro, Dell XPS 13, 15, HP Spectre x360, Surface Book 2, Lenovo Yoga 910 and More https://www.amazon.com/dp/B076TTN1FL/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_TbvhDb9MGT1RD

Hmmm, very interesting. I had wondered if 3D Vision supported monitors would work via that USB C connection. The cable you link says that it only supports 1080P@60Hz though.
