Future of 3D Vision Support (Official announcement from NVIDIA)
  10 / 42
Thank you RJ8 and GrantSS for clarifying Vorpx does not support 3d monitors/3d vision. I searched the internet today and it seems that apart from VR, and 3d TV's there is currently no solution out there, especially for Stereo 3d gaming on monitors. Whilst there are numerous newly released monitors that support 3d vision, we know that TV manufactures are not making any more 3d TV's. I own an Oculus Rift but it is gathering dusk. I found the visual fidelity and overall experience to be poor in comparison to monitor 3d and have no intention of replacing 3d vision gaming with VR. I contacted Nvidia support today and found there response extremely poor. I specifically asked if 3d vision would be supported in any way after April 2020 and what would happen with general driver support for games released after April 2019. There announcement mentions critical driver support (I assume for windows updates mainly), so presumably games released after April 2019 will not have sli, general driver optimisations. I also asked what Nvidia would be able to do about newly purchased hardware marketed as 3d vision ready which will no longer be supported long before the natural lifetime of the gpu's and monitors I purchased. Unfortunately the representative I spoke to directed me to the exact same nvidia announcement without providing any additional information or clarification. Presumably he did not know, or perhaps was not allowed tp provide any further information. So I guess we are all in the dark regarding nvidia's future plan. I suspect nvidia are planning to drop support altogether come April 2020. I did mention about whether future drivers could be released as a software licence purchase and got no response to this. I even contacted Asus support who advised there was nothing they could do, as the issue was out of their hands. I am finding this news to be a really heartbreaking.

The NVIDIA support team will continue to address critical driver issues for 3D Vision in Release 418 through April, 2020.
This is interesting... Does this mean Release 418 will be a special branch until 2020? (1 Year from now on?) Btw, Version 419.35 is still on the 418 Branch: https://us.download.nvidia.com/Windows/419.35/419.35-win10-win8-win7-desktop-release-notes.pdf Does this mean that Branch 418 will live for one year? I am a bit confused with their release naming and branch names:)) On a side-note, my Kepler GPU enabled Laptop (880M) will receive the same treatment. The Mobile Kepler GPUs are put in Legacy as well: https://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/4779/related/1
Didn’t 410-ish drivers for a while use 390 3dvision driver? I thought I remembered that the 3dvision driver wasn’t always updated with main driver. But most recent was always packaged. I could be remembering wrong

I have numerous pals who are all very into videogames especially into the kind of videogames where 3D Vision absolutely shines and I have shown them the glory of 3D Vision on different occasions. Weren't they impressed? They were absolutely impressed admitting that these games in 3D Vision are a sight to behold! Did they run into the next store to get a 3D Vision setup for themselves? No absolutely not!
Exactly this. I have shown my setup to a bunch of friends. Impressed? 100% of them. Buying? 0%. Maybe one of them was considering it for the future, but when I told him this news, he said "well... then maybe not".
I think maybe part of it. Was for me, my eyes weren’t used to it for about a month. So I didn’t like it for a while and almost returned it. Then when my brain got used to it I was like holy shit! It’s also a large investment, and another big thing for me was that it required TN panels which I hated coming from IPS

I have been in the NVIDIA Support CHAT, commenting on my complaints about NVIDIA's disappearance of 3D VISION and telling me that my comments and complaints will be passed on to the team. I encourage you all to do the same because more complaints are better! more strength we will have !!! NVIDIA 3D VISION FOREVER !!!!!

Apart from the still existing halos around objects... fire, smoke, rain, snow, other particles, water transparency, glass are only 2D rendered. :(

Does anybody know if MR Jensen Huang, the NVidia CEO, has a twitter account? Judging by images on google he also has two eyes, so maybe, just maybe, if addressed, he will understand why we would like to keep using our own two eyes. :) The NVidia's own twitter account seems to be managed by AI...
