I'm new to 3D vision and 3D TV's so excuse my ignorance but can i use this TV to play games in 3D? Do i need to have the nvidia 3D glases?
Any recommendations for games that are nice to play in 3D, other recommendations (software, drivers etc) is very welcome.
I have a Nvidia GTX460, if that matters.
Thanks.

Nvidia doesn't have side by side mode in any of their 3D drivers so you must use TriDef 3D/iZ3d drivers to 3D game in native resolution. Check out these alternative drivers before you waste your money on 3DTV Play. Be sure you have your Panasonic glasses before you D/L the free trial. Contact me if you need more information.

ok, thanks. so there's no need to buy the nvidia 3D vision pack or whatever it's called..?
I hope im getting my TV and glasses tomorrow :)

Correct. 3D Vision doesn't work with your TV. Of course you can always try 3DTV Play free trial without the nvidia 3D Vision kit, but wait until you've seen TriDef 3D first.

TriDef 3D doesnt seem to have panasonic listed either, and it didnt find my screen (could be because its the secondary screen maybe?)
panasonic is considered industry leading for 3D so its a bit strange if it didnt have support for that brand. it a very common TV too.
are these drivers needed to watch for example 3D .mkv files with PowerDVD11? or which drivers would i need for that?
thanks again
[/quote]
For Blu Ray 3D and .mkv files, all you need is the general geforce drivers. Your movies will launch in 1080P /24 framepacking which is the mandatory 3D mode for all TVs. Games require higher refresh rates so framepacking doesn't work very well.
I used TriDef on my samsung in side by side mode awhile back. I don't recall how I set it up and chose SBS mode, but since your TV supports SBS mode, it should work in SBS mode. There are people in the TriDef forum that report SBS usage with their Panasonics, so go here and read the various posts under "other 3D displays".
http://www.ddd.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=16
Don't be mislead by the 'hardware requirements' and 'supported displays' pages listed by all companies. These lists are incomplete, sub sets of what HDTVs actually work. For example on the 3D Vision support page, none of the Samsung Plasmas/LED HDTVs are shown yet many people in this forum use them for their 3D gaming under 3D Vision. So when a particular TV is not listed, that doesn't necessarily mean it won't work, it just isn't guaranteed to work.
You can also try iZ3D drivers, be sure to set up with the 'custom' option then select SBS mode under the DirectX tab.
I have a Samsung so I can't really offer much more support. I can tell you only that these alternative 3D drivers are reported to work with Panasonic using SBS mode, so check out the forums.
If you do get TriDef 3D to work, it would be extremely useful if you would report back with your findings. Others in this forum are in the same situation as you in that they have non-Samsung displays, but don't want to be stuck with 3DTV Play.

Got some games working with TriDef 3D. Bioshock looks pretty damn amazing i have to say! Works and looks way better than i would have imagined.
There's a bit of ghotsting on some objects (really bright objects only - i think) it doesnt distract and maybe there's some way to tweak it down.
PowerDVD11 works too, i had to change the settings on my TV, that was the problem, not the software.
Overall i'm really happy with my purchase, and really surprised how great the effect looks in games, it's really like being there :) It feels like seeing the game how it's meant to be seen for the first time.

iZ3D i didnt have much luck with yet.

So you installed TriDef 3D, set it up to use side by side mode, disabled 3D in your nvidia control panel, then launched your TriDef software, then selected Bioshock in the TriDef user interface, then manually set your Panasonic to SBS mode after the game launched, correct? And in-game rez was 1920x1080?

Any recommendations for games that are nice to play in 3D, other recommendations (software, drivers etc) is very welcome.
I have a Nvidia GTX460, if that matters.

panasonic is considered industry leading for 3D so its a bit strange if it didnt have support for that brand. it a very common TV too.
are these drivers needed to watch for example 3D .mkv files with PowerDVD11? or which drivers would i need for that?
thanks again

I have a Samsung so I can't really offer much more support. I can tell you only that these alternative 3D drivers are reported to work with Panasonic using SBS mode, so check out the forums.
If you do get TriDef 3D to work, it would be extremely useful if you would report back with your findings. Others in this forum are in the same situation as you in that they have non-Samsung displays, but don't want to be stuck with 3DTV Play.

For Blu Ray 3D and .mkv files, all you need is the general geforce drivers. Your movies will launch in 1080P /24 framepacking which is the mandatory 3D mode for all TVs. Games require higher refresh rates so framepacking doesn't work very well.
I used TriDef on my samsung in side by side mode awhile back. I don't recall how I set it up and chose SBS mode, but since your TV supports SBS mode, it should work in SBS mode. There are people in the TriDef forum that report SBS usage with their Panasonics, so go here and read the various posts under "other 3D displays".

Got some games working with TriDef 3D. Bioshock looks pretty damn amazing i have to say! Works and looks way better than i would have imagined.
