Metro 2033 only in DX9!? Is this a driver problem?
1 / 4
Has anyone else tried this game yet? I have been messing around with the video options for about an hour now. The only way I can get 3D vision enabled is by using DirectX 9.
I7 920
GTX 295
6 gigs DDR3 1600
196.75 3D drivers
196.34 beta video drivers
Edit:
This game is amazing in 3D. I have noticed next to zero ghosting. However, the frame rate takes a noticable hit when running with graphics set to Very High. I will wait for new drivers to mess around with this game again. It is fully playable in DX9 with 3D but as of now I cannot play the game in 3D with DX 10 and it really irritates me.
However, running the game in High + DX9 + 3D yielded better graphics than DX10 Very High - 3D mode. 3D makes everything better.
Verdict = This game is very playable as it is right now. I hope the new Nvidia drivers are released soon, that they improve performance and enable us to play in 3D with DX 10. I believe that this game will be the best 3D vision game yet once we get new drivers.

COME ON NV, enough with the wait. This is yet another big release with no drivers. I want to play this without having to create some chimera driver set.

Really want to play this game but I think I will wait for Fermi comes out to try it. The whole Bioshock 2 debacle really left a bad taste in my mouth anyway. I expect to finish the single player campaign of Bad Company 2 tomorrow and then start on Assassin's Creed 2.
As for the DX10 thing, I noticed in Avatar that DX9 ran a whole lot better for me than DX10 and there wasn't enough added benefit from the DX10 features to compensate for the frame rate loss.

I played a little further with Very High graphics and 3D (Direct X 9). This is the best looking game I have ever seen. Nvidia, please release new drivers so I can fully enjoy this game the way it's meant to be played.

The visuals in this game are extremely good in 3DVision.
Currently running with 196.21 gforce and 3DVision drivers and seems to be working well.
Tried dx10 and 3dvision would not activate but after game restart x 2 dx10 and 3DVision now seem to be working.
With graphic settings high (not very high) + dx10 + high physx my SLI + dedicated PhysX rig struggles to get 36-56fps (per eye) @ 1785x992 no aa, at 1920x1080 fps 30-42 too framey.
Note that turning 3DVision off only increases by 10fps.
I have played prolog and first chapter so far and can say that Game is very atmospheric and scary!
This seems to be a must-buy for 3D vision owners.
Would love to see this at very high settings @ 1920x1080 with aa and DX11. Oh well, I guess I will be ordering two GTX480s next month after all.
Anyone know how to set individual graphic options, .config file etc.?

Wow those shots look awesome in 3D. A little ghosting in a couple of them, but very impressive none the less. Can't wait for this game to be released here.

i'm running the 196.75 drivers and whenever i turn 3d on my fps drop to like 1-2..... guess i'll have to wait for a driver release to get 3d going... the game is absolutely gorgeous graphics wise... HUGE amount of detail in everything! I can only imagine how awesome it will be in 3d!

Well, i'm getting this game tonight then! 3D only working in Dx9 mode is acceptable by my lowered standards (lowered by BS2, AvP, and other recent let-downs)! The graphics do look amazing, i imagine they're be great in 3D.
