Got new display, old one still detected by 3D Setup Wizard?
  1 / 2
I recently upgraded to a bigger screen (yay!) with 3D support, but the old display is still detected by the 3D setup Wizard. In all other tabs (such as the one for changing resolution) the new display is shown just as it should, but the old one persists in that one tab only! The problem is that the Wizard crashes my Windows if I try to run it, or if I try to turn on 3D Vision. I have done a completely clean install of the Nvidia display drivers a few times, I have made sure to delete registry details having to do with Nvidia plus the associated folders in Windows user settings, I have deleted and updated display drivers, too. Still, in the wizard I still see my old Benq 120 HZ and not the new Zowie 144 HZ. Any ideas where the wizard picks up this information so I could find and delete/reset it?

The display that is being used for stereoscopic gaming using Nvidia's drivers must be set as your "Primary Display" in Windows.

I only have on display, since the old one was given to my friend and I can't change from one display to another. Is there any way to force Win 10 to do this, still?

This would only apply if you have more that one display connected. Try reinstalling the drivers using DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller)

But you don't need to run the wizard, just go to the registry here: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\NVIDIA Corporation\Global\Stereo3D and find stereovisionconfirmed and change 0=>1 Now 3D Vision is enabled :)

It must be a fault in registry..

But you don't need to run the wizard, just go to the registry here:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\NVIDIA Corporation\Global\Stereo3D
and find stereovisionconfirmed and change 0=>1

Now 3D Vision is enabled :)

That is weird, since I definitely have 3D Vision installed, but in the registry I cannot find an entry for stereovisionconfirmed. The only ones hinting that way were StereoDefaultON and StereoDefaultONset, with both values at 1. If I open up Nvidia control panel, my current monitor shows up correctly in all the other tabs such as 'change resolution' and 'set up multiple displays', but persists in the 3D Vision tab. Any idea where it's still picking up the old monitor for the 3D Vision?

I do not think that your new Zowie monitor is officially supported by 3D vision. I assume it's model XL2411

It's a Benq Zowie XL2720, and I know it's supported by 3D Vision since the sticker on the display also states that. :P By now I've exhausted all of my options of not making the screen crash and I'm thinking that a re-install of Win 10 is my last resort. I have no idea where the wizard is picking up my old screen still, so reformat and re-install is the only way I figure this will be fixed.

@RustyCoyote What drivers are you using ? I'm having a similar problem with 376.19 Did you try to uninstall the driver using DDU ? If you didn't give it a shot. http://www.wagnardmobile.com/

I did a completely clean install with DDU twice, removed all extra Nvidia-related folders remaining after that, plus related registry entries before performing a clean install. I also am running this on 376.19. My old display was the 2420 Benq, which worked without a hitch. All I know is that the old display details must be stashed somewhere, still. I checked for hidden devices, but my old display is gone. What is weird to me is that just one tab (3D Vision) of the Nvidia settings still shows the old screen, the new one is displayed just like it should in all the other options.

Did you change Window's color profile for your old monitor? Maybe it's the cause of stashing.

Maybe you can post a screen shot of Nvidia resolution Tab and 3dtab Does this monitor have integrated emitter? or you have it separately?

Yeah, I had Win color profile changed, but I have the color profile for the new screen in use now. Also, I have a separate transmitter, same one I used with my old screen. Here's what I'm seeing: http://i.imgur.com/W11JTfn.png <- The only screen where my old Benq still shows up http://i.imgur.com/hzKOYRK.png <- This is the new display which I'm seeing in every other tab of the control panel where monitor is mentioned I also tried using it on 120 Hz instead of default / 144 Hz just for kicks, still crashed my computer when I turn 3D on or try to run the wizard.

Dumb question, but have you completely powered off the machine? As in, power down, power switch off for desktop, pull battery laptop. Let it sit for 30m. Monitor swap in particular might be done with no power off, and there are obscure times when things like EDID are cached.

In the 3D tab, that's just Nvidia's generic labeling, "All BenQ monitors show the same thing there", unless it's a G-Sync model. In which case, it should shows /G-Sync also. What's your GPU model? OS? Connection type?
