I've got a GTX 460 installed and have had trouble w/ the IR emitter during the setup wizard.
I got my system working now using 3D-vision CD 1.38 - but have had this issue w/ releases: 270.61, 275.53, and 280.26
During the "3d-enable setup wizard", at the step when - under normal circumstances - the wizard would ask to "turn on the glasses": I see the display goes black, I hear the "windows device disconnect sound", and see the emitter goes entirely black or shows strange colors (I've seen blue, yellow, purple, etc.). The wizards' "turn on the glasses" screen is skipped & operation jumps to the successive wizard-screen. Sometimes, the video-state kicks into "anaglyph" mode (red/blue -- "3d-vision discovery"). After such conditions, windows 7 gets stuck on the "Shutting Down" screen @ restart or power-off - until I disconnect the emitter.
Can I use the emitter-driver from CD 1.38 w/ later releases - or are components now interface-revision-bound?
The emitter model is P701, display is samsung 2233rz - going to try an optoma hd66 projector later.

After a coldstart, upon attempting to switch into 3d mode (such as the nvidia test application), the emitter blacks-out or shows a strange color.
I have noticed that the "windows device detach" sound occurs, followed by the "windows device attach" sound - when the emitter blacks-out or shows a strange color.
I have noticed that the "NVIDIA stereoscopic 3D emitter" entry disappears from the "Device Manager->USB Devices" -- & an "Unknown Devicce" appears...
The emitter glows a dull green, until 3d is engaged.

What driver verison isnt working? 280.26?

At this moment, IR-emitter issues w/ all these:
270.61, 275.53, and 280.26 -- as well as "vision CD" 1.38
3d worked @ initial install of 1.38 -- then stopped working after coldstart/reboot.
Upon software "switch into 3D mode", the "windows device disconnect sound" can be heard, and the IR-emitter either goes black or shows an unusual color (purple, blue, brown, etc.).
Sometimes, the entire computer hangs-up until I pull the USB cable from the emitter (or hang-up occurs on shutdown until emitter removal).
If I pull the USB & reconnect, some times I hear the "windows device reconnect" followed by "windows device disconnect" cycle repeatedly (until I remove the USB cable) - other times, it reconnects as an "unknown device".
I have tried two emitters (1 'used', 1 new/unused), will try a third (new/unused) one soon - they are all model P701
Fwiw, I am plugging the emitter directly into the USB on the motherboard (xfx 790i ultra) & have tried using different USB cables.
I have no troubles w/ any other USB devices (removable USB hard drives, keyboards, trackballs), and have removed all non-essential devices.

Awoke today to a windows Code 19 ("... cannot start hardware device b/c registry information corrupt ...") on the "USB Root Hub" (that is, the motherboard) device.
Uninstall & "scan for hardware changes" has me online again - fortunate I have ps/2 trackball hooked to the mobo
Still no IR-emitter love- got any debugging tools? Code 19 suggests some registry oddity
Also, I have the HPET ("high performance event timer") enabled in the BIOS; should I disable this?

This same issue happened with me and now it is solved with new 285.62 NVIDIA driver. I'm happy it did work /clap.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
