Just reinstall the drivers (make sure to run Driver Sweeper as well), I would imagine that most users on this forum are running Windows 7, so there is nothing to fear with regards to upgrading from Vista.

Ehhh, some people may report their systems running perfectly on Win7 64 bit, but there are known issues with the OS, drivers (of which the last 3 or 4 whql releases havn’t been nVidia’s best work) that work with it, and games. Some of it is the fault of drivers some the OS and some both. Win 7 out of the box as an OS is more stable than Vista (which is pretty stable these days), but Vista will provide you with less in game crashes at the moment.
It will not run games, across the board, as stable as Vista 64. I break down what I am dealing with and what I have learned in regards to my issues since I upgraded from Vista 64 to Win7 64.
To start things off let me explain that in Vista my system is stable as a rock. I don’t have an OC applied anywhere, and I still decided to stress test my system. 16 hours Prime 95, temps stay low and no crashes. 16 hours Furmark, temps stay low and no crashes. Memtest, no crashes. In Vista I have folded for over 10 days nonstop with no crashes. Games ran solid as a rock for the most part. If I had a game crashing regularly I would usually discover that it had something to do with the game and not my drivers or OS.
Now in Windows 7 let me start by saying I do not recall having my OS just crash ever. Games is another story, and some of the ways games would crash force me to reboot rather than end task.
First off, Source engine games crash too often, and I am not the only person who is experiencing this. Granted they are only crashing on average once every hours to two hours, but it is still irritating. Digging has lead me and others to conclude this has to do with Drivers. I can run older Vista drivers on 7 (182.50) and Source games run perfectly. Unfortunately really new games and games using PhysX don’t like these older drivers too much (seems to be an issue with the PhysX card downclocking and dragging the whole game down with it. Isn’t an issue on newer drivers due to the ability to specific max performance in the control panel). What’s more is, because of the monitor I run (AW2310), I am restricted to the newest nVidia drivers if I want to have a 3D Vision driver installed that recognizes my monitor. So I choose to deal with these crashes in Source. Next, Fallout 3 will not launch with any driver in Windows 7 64. Absolutely will not launch. Google it and I am FAAAAAAR from the only one. Doesn’t crash or anything, but I launch from Steam and I get the “launching†dialogue box and then it goes away and I just sit staring at my desktop. Check the tasks nothing in relation to Fallout 3 is running. There is a patch 1.7 out but guess what? In Win7 good luck getting it to install. In Vista 64 this game runs like a Top. People have fixes for it in Win7, but everyone seems to have found a different thing that fixed it for them. So far none I have attempted have worked.
There are other issues as well. They are similar to the Source engine issues. Big thing that irritates me is new games are broken on older drivers that don’t support 3D for me, which is no big deal, but even slightly dated games are broken with the newer drivers. Then you have issues like I have with Fallout 3 which isn’t driver related at all.
I honestly would still recommend Windows 7 if you are somewhat tech savvy and don’t mind doing a little tweaking here and there and playing with different drivers to figure out fixes to any problems you come across. In the long run Windows 7 will be better all around, just needs better drivers for the most part (Little secret is that the beta drivers nVidia dropped when Win7 was just a RC are much better than the last 4 WHQLs … I am just stuck cause I want 3D and I gotta run the ones that recognize my monitor). If you can get past the glitches though you will instantly see Win7 offers a nice performance boost.

Also just a tip: Only remove the nvidia display drivers. If you remove all of the nvidia drivers you will also remove the mobo drivers and this will cause large headaches for you.

Been there done that. Headache indeed. 3D vision can be frustrating to beginners, I would tell that to anyone who is first starting out.
So...You want driver sweeper to only remove display drivers?? I can do that myself, without it? So whats the point of driver sweeper?
I'd imagine only if your having trouble installing new Nvidia drivers, but I don't know.

Actually using the Device Manager to remove your video cards drivers and or uninstalling them from “add or remove programs†doesn’t get rid of everything. Driver Sweeper will remove the leftover registry entries.
It is always recommended to use Driver Sweeper when uninstalling device drivers. Specifically you should uninstall the drivers via device manager or add or remove programs and then reboot into safe mode and run driver sweeper to get the left overs.
Now that being said is there any guarantee you will have problems if you don’t run driver sweeper? No not at all. Many people don’t use it and get by fine. Many of us, however, use it every time and recommend it to everyone. I used to have problems once in a while with installing and uninstalling drivers or with new drivers not fixing bugs they claimed to fix. Since I started using Driver Sweeper I have never once had a problem adding or removing drivers or anything else for that matter.
It should be noted that this in no way will affect the performance of a driver that is just buggy. Just ensures everything goes off without a hitch in the uninstallation and installation processes.
