Once I buy the game (when it has a 66% discount or higher on GOG), I will volunteer to help fix the UE4 version (3Dmigoto loads fine, right?).
But on the other hand, I don't want to give the devs an excuse to not do it themselves.
They are aware of the fact that We still got fixed UE3 version available on Steam so we can play that in 3D if we need to. Also they are busy with new game and this was just an upgrade not completely new game. This game doesn`t sell anymore.
I know VR is the new buzz Word - but honestly it might be great for FPS games, it will never be any good for RTS, point'n click and 3'rd person games IMO.
Actually, having had the opportunity to try out a few different VR projects that some local developers are working on I'd say the opposite can be true.
First person games tended (somewhat unexpectantly) to be worse in VR than drone view games. Sure, you get to actually be in a body and look around and it's all awesome until you try to walk... with a controller. You end up with your body tilted facing in some random direction and it just doesn't feel natural - throw in some fast paced action with quick reactions to the mess and you get to experience the joys of disorientation and a spew bucket (so far mine is still empty, but I did feel a little queezy).
Conversely, in a game that uses a top down drone view you can see your character below you and it feels perfectly natural to move with the controller - and you can still look around and even lean in (with the DK2) to get a closer view.
One of the demos I tried used elements of both - it started out in a first person shooting scene, but you couldn't move, then changed to a drone camera when you needed to walk, then back to first person for turret shooting scene. The devleloper said it was because it's easier to control in drone view and avoids motion sickness.
I haven't had the opportunity to try an RTS, but I imagine it would be similar to the drone view style if done right, though unless they severley neuter the controls you would still want to use a keybaord + mouse and not being able to see them would be a disadvantage there. Even if you can touch type it's a bit hard when you can't see where you left the mouse or which direction you are facing relative to the keyboard.
Point n' click... Yeah, I don't imagine that would translate very well. Something more like a Telltale style adventure game might work, but like all these it would have to be designed for VR, not shoehorned on.

ah - cool, thanks. Will wait for a month and have a look.
I buy some games on Steam but the US to AU conversion often sucks, so use keys from grey sellers more often.
If you guys are interested in the VR version of the game, check out my short review:

En resumé, it is blurry and the resolution is a deal breaker. But some scenes are nevertheless very impressive, especially those in close quarters.
Looks like you have same complaints as me. I was just going over the games you played in VR. Is ther any game that really wowed you? I see a lot of short playtimes which is my concern for buying more then I already have.
TBH, I cant really justify buying anymore $10-$15+ games and get bored in an hour. Or at least I might consider them on next upgraded headset + price drop.
You should try budget cuts demo though. I see its not on your played list. In all honesty its the only one that really wowed me. I think its going to become a huge IP eventually.

Just a reminder anyone trying the Redux version of this game, there is a Universal Fix for Unreal 4 that will fix most, if not close to all issues. So give it a try. You can find it on Helixblog
lol, I just finished the old version and didn't think to try it. I wish I had, Redux offers game saves. I had to quit often and retrace gameplay due to my motion sickness from games like this.

Thanks for the reminder, I never finished this game so would be nice to try the Redux version in 3d. Hmm, that said, I know SLI support in UE4 is very sketchy at best...

I took a look using the GoG version, which also provides the free Redux version.
This universal fix does not work with the Redux version completely. There are some shaders that are clearly being fixed in the log, but graphical effects are broken including shadows and water reflections and decals like blood. I also tried the 3 variants of decals and none work for this game. Shaders must be too different.
Always possible that the variants are small, and with enough enthusiasm you can possibly compare the universal versions to this game's versions, and work out how to manually tweak the shaders.
Playing the original version that includes the DX9 fix, I don't actually see any visual difference between the versions. Graphical comparisons on the web also suggest there is no actual visual difference, it's just a new conversion for Xbone. Original game is still spectacular and fix works fine.

Probably they change the constant buffer # related to each effect (i see this in another UE4 game). Since the DX9 version is fixed and is the same has DX11, graphicaly speaking, not make any sense to waste time making it work.

Like i response in the blog...probably the constant buffer # change. It can be a easy tweak to make all work, but since the dx9 fix is working and there is no graphical difference, probably better play with that version.
