Asus VG248QE & GeForce GTX 760 3D Vision Dual link cable issue
  1 / 2
My monitor came with the dual link (DVI-D) Cable. The GFX card has a Female DVI-I. I cannot for the life of me find an adapter online for it so i continued to call the ASUS support which informed me that my monitor should be able to use 3D with an HDMI. My research concludes I was misinformed and I MUST use the Dual Link cable provided with the monitor. How am I supposed to make this set up work? Thanks in advance.

A male DVI-D cable should fit into a female DVI-I port, according to google.

That's strange, it should work. It's definitely not going to work over HDMI, unfortunately. Can you try a different cable?

I have a couple HDMI's I tried.... I was reading the GFX card specs and it doesn't directly state anywhere it supports 3D vision... maybe I was mislead?

The Asus VG248QE will work with 3D Vision via the Dual Link DVI-I connection. I checked the product page on your GPU and it indeed has a Dual Link output. As Pirateguybrush is suggesting, try a new "quality" cable. Get one that says it supports 9.9Gbps and 2560x1600 Resolution, not one that says 1600x1200. Sounds like they included the wrong cable if it has a female end. http://us.msi.com/product/vga/N760_2GD5OC_ITX.html#overview http://www.geforce.com/hardware/desktop-gpus/geforce-gtx-760 http://www.amazon.com/Tripp-Lite-P560-003-Dual-Cable/dp/B004JU25P0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1404016125&sr=8-1&keywords=P560-003

The cable doesn't have a female end, the graphics card does. If I've understood correctly.

He can plug the cable in, but he doesn't get a signal. I think he needs to try a new cable.

The GFX card works perfectly fine currently with HDMI but still no 3D Vision :(

Also I figured I needed an adapter to make the dual link cable with the Male DVI-D to adapt it into a DVI-I male for the GFX card end! The DVI-D fits and is the correct end on the monitor side. D-man I am pretty sure I was mis-informed on the GFX card being 3D Vision capable? It doesn't visibly in spec show it is but it also doesn't say it can't either from my research so I am a bit confused.

I don't think an adapter will work. You might have just been unlucky with the DVI port on the card, which is something I've never heard of before. Could you sell the card and replace it with a 760 with a DVI-D port?

It crossed my mind... I have a warranty I paid additional for so I can have the card replaced if I choose but I first must confirm if it is or isn't 3D vision compatible otherwise I would sell it as you suggested. Another variable is the Dual Link cable itself!
