New to NVIDIA - what do I need to get started with 3D gaming?
Hello folks, I just bought my first NVIDIA video card, the Gigabyte G1 Gaming GTX 970. I also have an Acer GN246HL which supports NVIDIA 3D Vision. What else do I need? Cheap glasses or a $150 kit? Also, what's the difference between 3D Vision and 3D Vision 2? How do I know which one my monitor supports and which kit of glasses I need? Thanks in advance.

Nice, that'll be a good setup for it. Welcome! -You need a kit -Difference between 3D Vision 1 and 2 is all in the monitor. 3D Vision 2 offers better brightness, and comfier glasses. The kits themselves work on any 3D Vision monitor, but I'd recommend the 2 kit. -You must be using a dual-link DVI cable. Your monitor probably came with one. -Look at the advanced settings under stereoscopic 3D, and learn to adjust depth and convergence. Default settings are a bit meh. -You'll want to bookmark this site - http://helixmod.blogspot.com/

If you frustrate easily then probably the best thing you could do is just poke one of your eyes out now. Problem with 3Dvision moving forward is that Helix mods may not be coming out any more. Very rarely are games good in 3D out of the box. If you want to play 3D games then my advice is to learn to play and enjoy the games that DO work well.... even if you don't at first think you will like the games.

Congrats and welcome to the BEST gaming upgrade you have had. There are tons of games that are ready to be played in 3d, some with slight adjustments found at the helixmod site mentioned above to get them perfect. The helixmod fixes are made user friendly and easy to apply. If you are a serious gamer, prepare to be awed.

Actually, the Helixmod fixing team has been doing some great work lately. Shadow of Mordor, Alien Isolation, Dreamfall Chapters, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, Divinity: Original Sin, The Vanishing of Ethan Carter...just a small number of big titles that have had 3D support patched in over the past few months.
