I am surprised Dugom (the original poster) has not commented about the ghosting discussion. lohan - I am using Gamma set to Medium. Sorry, but I removed Doom after finishing the game. With respect to ghosting, I strongly suggest evaluating ghosting using more than just one game (even if it is a good game like Doom...), like Dark Souls 3, Dying Light, The Park, The Witcher 3, Fallout 4, Metal Gear Solid Phantom Pain, Rise of the Tomb Raider, and Dreamfall Chapters (these are some of the games that I have used the EF9500/EDID combination with). Something like this test pattern is also useful for evaluating ghosting - especially among displays that you can physically evaluate and compare:

Exactly whyme. I was also asking myself why Dugom didn't join the discussion yet. And he is not the only one. I am even more surprised that Rustyk is currently not involved because he had the exact same questions in the original huge thread were the 4K 3D Vision success had been announced. And his posting was one of the last contributed. Since the crosstalk/ghosting matter is asked by nearly everyone owning an OLED LG passive 4K but the topic itself always suggests that it is aimed not mainly for the crosstalk-matter I decided to open a dedicated thread for this! Your contribution especially is highly appreciated (since you own the exact same TV-model) ;-)

Too much work this past 2 months, I've not find the time to read threads. My EF950V is connected to an single GTX970, so for 3D games it's not good enough, so this thread is not in my top list :) . My gaming rig is on the ES7000 and GD245HQ.


By the way:
Changing settings of an passive screen, won't be helpful against crosstalk because the 3D is made by the plastic filter sticked on the screen, no settings will really alter plastics...

Hi there, just another question about this. Will this EDID hack work with the 2016 LG Oled TVs? Has anyone tried that yet? Would the EDID by Joker18 be usable for these TVs also? Are there any experiences? Thanks a lot in advance.

So far, no one has successfully modded a 2016 OLED yet. Note that 55 in LG 3D TVs provide bigger 3D FOV (relative minimum viewing distance) than 65 in, and are cheaper...

Argh, thats bad news. But thanks a lot for your answer. So I do not make the mistake buying this TV. If nvidia would finally bring an updated version of 3dtv supporting 4k passive TVs. But I am afraid, this will never happen.

FYI- I recently purchased a 2016 LG OLED55C6P TV and was able to get an EDID driver working, "Optimized for NVIDIA GeForce" recognized and 3D working very well (flawlessly in my limited testing so far). I've got a GeForce 1080 / Win10 I had a little trouble at first, but here's what ended up working for me:

  1. IN TV SETTINGS: General > HDMI ULTRA HD Deep Color (turn on for ports you're using, I turned it on for all three)
  2. IN TV SETTINGS: Picture > OLED Panel Settings > Screen Shift (turn off, which I'm pretty sure avoids/reduces the issue where the eyes swap every so often--hasn't happened to me since doing this)
  3. IN TV SETTINGS: Picture > Picture Mode Settings (set to "Game" - this may not have anything to do with 3D working, but it reduces input lag, etc)
  4. IN NVIDIA CONTROL PANEL: Display > Change resolution
    • Resolution = 3840x2160 (native)
    • Refresh rate = 60Hz
    • Desktop color depth = 32-bit
    • Output color depth = 8 bpc
    • Output color format = 4:4:4 (don't remember exact setting name, maybe YCbCr444)
    • Note: this wasn't possible before changing to HDMI ULTRA on the TV. Also, I had trouble with the TV recognizing the signal until I changed HDMI cables (I used the one that came with my XBox One)

  5. Did the EDID driver update using the 'acermod4k.inf' file (see link below)
  6. After every reboot- run the 3DVisionEyeSwapper.exe utility to switch eyes

Thanks for information, SoundBlstr. While discussing 55E6 model with on-line TV salesman, he claimed 2016 model has 2 versions, with a late-year updated version having a faster response time. I could not find any supporting info on web, but I ordered the "10-bit 17 msec/frame" version...

It's a firmare update that decreased the the Lag and added an HDR game mode. There is no 2 model version -guy doesn't know what he is talking about. C6, and E6 are identical, except C6 is curved and E6 is flat and has better sound.

Your mind will be blown at how much better it looks then Passive LCD.
