Samsung 8 Series Plasma vs Panasonic VT25 I had both in one day!
  2 / 4
the rig isnt built yet, SLI 470s or 460s (cant decide if the 470s are worth it) with an i5-760. I tend to overthink any big purchase I make and 2nd guess the build/idea several times.
the tv comes today mitsubishi dlp 73C9 although I'm trying to send it back because TG has a better deal then what I got it for from Dell.

I did notice you had those tvs on a desk so yeah I suppose 60+ would be tough to see sitting a foot away!

Exactly it doesn't fit my setup well. I'm very happy with my projector as is. I've been reading on the forums and it's very polarized with the
Ghosting issue on the tvs I mentioned. Some people say zero ghosting but I don't believe them. I'm gonna wait til they sort this out and enjoy my projector. Maybe buy a 480 with the money I saved returning the tv.

I have been using the vt220/vt25 for 3 months now, it is a fantastic tv, simply stunning in 2d and the 3d is beautiful as well.

I do use the the tv in true cinema mode in 3d, which is the THX equivelant for 3d, and the ghosting is minimal, sometimes takes quite a while to get used to each individual tv and get the best results from it. Remember the tvs have a running in period as well were the performance and picture settle and into the true specs.

Im hearing a lot of polarized (no pun intended) views on these TVs. Some say they ghost bad, some not. For me they did, and once spoiled by DLP I simply cant accept the level of ghosting I got from both the Samsung or Panasonic. I still think that both companies are trying hard and doing everyone a favor by getting 3D out there, but Ill be waiting for my big TV purchase for a while. Im happy with my projector anyways, great picture (not 1080p but in 3D it really looks great anyhow), no ghosting whatsoever, and get this, I get to use the Nivida glasses i bought! Unlike these TVs which only allow their own proprietary glasses (in which case the Panasonic glasses are an atrocity). Too bad the samsung ghosts cuz I loved everything about that TV. Ill be keeping my ear to the ground though.

Hi Damien,

I appreciate you bringing up this topic regarding these tvs but I find your reviews of the tvs to be lacking. It seems that your time spent with both tvs was limited.

Isn't it normal for a plasma tv to be succeptible to ghosting for the first 100 hours? After 100 hours of use the issue is substantially reduced.

I am not saying that it will compare to a DLP but your review is lacking information.

I am getting my PNC58'7000 on Thursday. I did not buy the tv for 3D but I do consider it an added bonus. I've got NV Surround for my 3D needs. However, I will be playing Halo Reach on this plasma. I will post my initial impressions and then post again after the recommended 100 hour break in time has passed.

I won't hype my new purchase either. If the ghosting is as distracting as you say I will post about it.

Do any research on these plasma tvs and you will see they are some of the best tvs around for this price range.
