Asus VG236H Penny for your thoughts?
Hey guys,

I'm a newbie when it comes to the ways of 3DVision, but have been really keen on getting it setup since trailing it a while back.

I was thinking about going with the Asus VG236H 23" which comes bundled with the 3D Vision glasses.

I haven't been able to see the screen personally, but I hear its pretty good.

Keep in mind that over here in NZ, finding 3D ready screens is really quite hard... the only other easily accessible screen I can find is the Acer GD245HQ...

Thoughts either screen?

AnandTech just published a favorable review of the Asus VG236H, unfortunately the author seems to be a bit of a 3D Vision novice so there's not much in there relative to how the display fares against other 3D Vision panels. He did give it high marks overall however as a 120Hz non-S3D panel and at 60Hz in 3D Vision. The only major negatives were the higher input lag relative to other tested displays (none were 120Hz) and the glossy screen/bezel (this can be a pro/con depending on preferences of course). http://www.anandtech.com/show/3842/asus-vg...t-look-at-120hz

I've read about 10 discrete user reviews on the Asus and all have been very positive. Some have compared against other 3D monitors, some are just checking out 3D Vision for the first time, however, that's still a much higher positive rating % than the Acer, where you'll see much more mixed results and feedback. The AW2310 tends to get the best user feedback but then again its much spendier and harder to find outside of the US. When everything is considered, I think the Asus is probably the best option right now especially considering the price. Its cheaper than the Acer and better by most reports, and while it may be slightly inferior to the AW2310, its a good $100-$200 cheaper.

I also did a quick comparison between the 3 based on published/user reviews I've seen: http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?s=&...t&p=1098629

Hope that helps!

After an intial 'getting used to period' I'm perfectly happy with my Asus. I haven't seen an Acer, but I like the glossy screen and the stand on my VG236. I think the positive reviews swung it for me and I'm pleased I bought it if that helps!
