HDMI 1.4 to DVI Duel Link Help connecting XPS 17 Laptop to ACER GD245HQ
I have just purchased a new NVIDIA compatible monitor to use with my 3D XPS 17 laptop. The trouble is that the monitor does not have a HDMI 1.4 port and will only accept full HD via DVI Duel link.
Anyone know of an adapter that will convert the HDMI 1.4 port on the laptop to DVI duel link? Anyone got something that works and sends full HD 3D to this type of set up?
The only other option I see is spending a fortune on a new monitor with HDMI 1.4 support but that's £500+.

I do have a mini-display port, but when I phoned Dell they told me that a better option would be to try and find a HDMI adapter as this provided more data dandwidth.

If you have a MiniDisplayPort, you should look for something like this: Apple Active MiniDisplayPort to DualLinkDVI Adapter
Forget the HDMI-Adapter. It won't work with the DualLink-Monitors, because DualLink DVI has the double count of Data-Wires than HDMI. You can compare HDMI with a SingleLinkDVI (Wiki HDMI compatibility with DVI).
If you want to use HDMI you will need a HDMI 1.4 Display but you will be limited to 720p@60Hz and 1080p@24Hz in 3D Mode.

There are a few chances with an DisplayPort-Connector over active Adapters, but as I can remember, the XPS 17 doesn't have a DisplayPort-Connector.
