BUG REPORT: CD 1.17 still does NOT detected Samsung DLP My feedback to driverqualityassurance.html
1 / 12
Here's what I wrote to them at the feedback link, hopefully they will fix it in time for the Avatar release on 12/1 - (and that will be called a miracle):
"My Samsung HL61A750 HDTV is not detected with this driver. I have tried install/reinstall several times with no difference: Samsung HDTV is not detected.
I then rolled back to 1.15 CD and it detected my Samsung HL61A750 in first try.
Please help fix this issue at your earliest convenience.
Also, there is a rumor that Nvidia is locking out all CRTs, generic DLP TV and projectors from 3DVision driver. Is this true?"
I sent in one too. If it's true, I'm done and I only got it less than a month ago. Maybe I can still return it.
That would be beyond stupid if they do that.
I hope my DLP still works since it is listed but still, it would be insane to stop support for others.

After the epic fail I moved my computer back to my 52" LCD and the set up runs fine!!! WTF? It doesn't detect my 3D display but at least the set up runs!
Samsung 52" LCD = Setup runs fine just doesn't detect my 3D display
Samsung 3D Ready 61" DLP HL-T6187 = Setup Wizard wont even run! and gives error msg
*StereoCPLAPI returned invalid video mode (1920x2160) from StereoLauncher-> getDefaultModeInfo*
What did you do to my Drivers that when a real 3D ready TV is connected it wont even run the setup?
** UPDATE 2 **
Just to show how crappy Nvidia 3D support is I reformatted my computer with a fresh install on Windows 7 64 bit on my DLP to start!
No switching monitors, just installed Windows 7 then my motherboard drivers. Then Nvidia GFX Drivers, Reboot, Then 3D Vision. (1.15) No tricks for two montiors
The second its finished and wants to launch the Setup Wizard I get the same message!!!
4 Hours wasted reinstalling my whole OS and it still wont work. I am not messing with dual monitors to get this to work.
What a waste of money! People do not buy these glasses from Nvidia!
I have had them since day 1 and was one of the first to post and give problems (this is when L4D1 just came out) and waited months before trying them again and now I cant even set the blasted things up on the same equipment I played on for hours at a time.
Why can I play for hours before (driver CD 1.03) but cant even get through setup with up the blasted error message (any recent driver)...
StereoCPLAPI returned invalid video mode (1920x2160) from StereoLauncher-> getDefaultModeInfo
1920x2160? My resolution is 1920x1080,
Nvidia you suck! I and will tell every friend that ask me about them NOT to get them until you fix this crap!. I couldn't even show my one friend why I paid 200 for 3D glasses. You should of seen the look on his face when I reformatted and the setup still wont even run, how embarrassing.
** Update**
I just hooked my PC back to my 52" LCD Series 7(which is not even a 3d TV) and when i click setup on 1.17 it works!?!
WTF how can I run my 3D vision setup on my LCD but when hooked up to my Samsung DLP HL-T6187S the set up displays this preventing me from EVEN USING MY GLASSES!!!

I want to explain how I wasted 3 hour of my life again today for these glasses.
First I gave them up and switched my computer to my Samsung LCD52" Series 7 for the better picture for a while cause I got tired of Nvidia messing things up with 3D Vision. Today I thought it would be a great idea to try our MW2 and the Advatar Demo, man was I in for it.
I bought these the first day they came out and found many bugs which always got ignored then Andrew came in and left and it seems like its regular basis for his disappearing loop.
So I have fresh install of Windows 7 64 which was about 2-3 weeks old. I had the Nvidia Geforce drivers from a week or so ago and then upgraded to the 1.17 Driver Disc. Every time I clicked Setup Wizard or it auto lanuched it would get and error of:
StereoCPLAPI returned invalid video mode (1920x1***) from StereoLauncher-> getDefaultModeInfo
After playing with this for an hour I found a trick on the forum to attach a second monitor and run the setup and finish ( By this time I was on 1.15). The trick I did was running setup on the little LCD i plugged in and then switching the display back to the DLP and it worked fine.
I then upgraded back to 1.17 and then ran the trick again and wont detect the TV like it did last time.
When I bought these glasses they just came out and used the for a while playing a lot games with my SAME equipment. Now that I have waited months for the drivers to get better they end up being the worse then when the first came out.
Welcome back to the future Nvidia!

I have the samsung dlp and i dont have to do any "trick" to install the 1.5 drivers
but you guys.. there not dumping dlp crts , they even said the drivers are supposed to support them as a user found it in one of the readmes or what not
this not detecting your display problem has happened in previous drivers , idk why it happens but usually the next driver that comes out will fix it , in this case we have 2 drivers that came out relatively quickly and neither of them work for it im not sure why
but i also contacted nvidia about this specific issue earlier

I would definitely send this report to Nvidia customer care or use the feedback link on my post since officially this forum is not on their radar and is only for user-to-user support. But yep the frustration level is high when dealing with a driver's failure of providing the most basic expected feature that we paid for. The time wasted on the start of a holiday season's weekend: priceless that's lost forever.
What is Nvidia and its developers' excuse for such negligence after the same mistake with CD 1.16 I wonder?

I just recieved the following ignorant reply from customer care in answer to reporting that CRT and DLP do not work with the 1.16 and 1.17 drivers "The NVIDIA 3D vision supports only the display listed on the NVIDIA website and the display drivers does support the displays listed. Please visit the link below for the list of the displays supported." http://www.nvidia.com/object/3D_Vision_Requirements.html
Members please educate nvidia's recklessly ignorant customer service and like me if you get such a poor reply inform them to research questions before attempting to answer them.

Nvidia's reply does not suggest they are dumping DLP and CRT as they are listed on the 3D vision requirements html in my last post, but it certainly indicates unequivical incompetence within the 3D Vision driver team and its management.

you have to cut the driver team some slack
theres a lot more to it than you think why do you think ALL drivers always SUCK (nvidia + ATI)
theres just so many variables its hard to reproduce things
i honestly dont think nvidia`s 3d vision drivers are that bad except for the dlp crt not detected problem which has happened on numerous drivers
Maybe nvidia is waiting for it to sell more to have a bigger driver team?

What's perplexing is that this bug was reported for CD 1.16 but it promptly happens again in CD 1.17. In that light, should an user start to look at it in a more sobering way or keep patiently bending over?

I really don't see how they could be removing Sammy DLPs since they did so much to fix the tech from the earlier driver glitches (since Samsung completely abandoned DLP and any 3D support), but the fact we have to fight these battles are silly. We already are waiting for drivers for new games and if we also have to wait for 2-3 revisions to fix things that weren't broken before its getting to the point of not being worth the effort. That or only play old games.

Just to show how crappy Nvidia 3D support is I reformatted my computer with a fresh install on Windows 7 64 bit on my DLP to start!

1.17 Not working even with trick
1.16 Not working with out trick
1.15 Workng only with the trick
*trick = second monitor
** each version now causes the error below
StereoCPLAPI returned invalid video mode (1920x2160) from StereoLauncher-> getDefaultModeInfo
After the epic fail I moved my computer back to my 52" LCD and the set up runs fine!!! WTF? It doesn't detect my 3D display but at least the set up runs!
WTF how can I run my 3D vision setup on my LCD but when hooked up to my Samsung DLP HL-T6187S the set up displays this preventing me from EVEN USING MY GLASSES!!!

but you guys.. there not dumping dlp crts , they even said the drivers are supposed to support them as a user found it in one of the readmes or what not
this not detecting your display problem has happened in previous drivers , idk why it happens but usually the next driver that comes out will fix it , in this case we have 2 drivers that came out relatively quickly and neither of them work for it im not sure why
but i also contacted nvidia about this specific issue earlier
quite a shame

What is Nvidia and its developers' excuse for such negligence after the same mistake with CD 1.16 I wonder?

you have to cut the driver team some slack
theres a lot more to it than you think why do you think ALL drivers always SUCK (nvidia + ATI)
theres just so many variables its hard to reproduce things
i honestly dont think nvidia`s 3d vision drivers are that bad except for the dlp crt not detected problem which has happened on numerous drivers
Maybe nvidia is waiting for it to sell more to have a bigger driver team?
maybe maybe maybe..
