Nvidia, tell me, are you going to let 3d Vision die?
3 / 4
Its a minor argument but 3d cinema wronged 3d pc. 3d cinema effect is limited than 3d pc for many reasons. Many people says 3d cinema is ridiculous so its same thing with 3d pc.
Nvidia does not communicate and show on 3d pc, you can set up 3d effect in real time and the effect is strong.
@b4thman: I'm curious why you even bother with PC gaming at all? If your goal is to have a simple, worry free gaming session, then PC Gaming itself is just a pit of despair.
My goal is not to have a simple gaming sessions, but a healthy one, and to invest money in hardware if I am sure that it is worthy and durable in time. The problem is that today I am not sure about that, and of course the behavior of the company (Nvidia) does not help too much.
Of course if I am writing here is because I am interested in 3D gaming, but in reality it is more an utophia than a real thing. I realize that the last months I have been increasely playing less and less in 3D, and following this tendency maybe next year I only play 2D, and in that case maybe it would be better for me to buy now a new ISP-freesync-144hz monitor (it is aviable) instead of a TN compatible 3D one. I have to choose, it is not only a matter of spend a big amount of money to play decently a game.
Related to the health, I do not understand why there is no deep debate/thread about this topic, with people trying to question everything not prooved, provided that it is something important for everybody's life, unless, of course, people decide it is better to live blind on this respect to have fun playing without any problem. There is no medical research about any danger using 3D, ok, I suppose, but... is there any medical proff about it is totally safe for everybody?..., the answer is NO. And in case there is any I would like to know, of course. These of me are not destroy cometaries, but I try to discover things that apparently are forbidden to talk about.
I wish I were sure that playing 3D is good and healthy for my eye muscles and the rest of my optic system, and do not harm anything of my body..., that way I would even play games only to exercice the eyes. Maybe playing 3D games with zero ghost, with 100 hz/eye, with g-sync to avoid stuttering, without anomalies, and with the recommended deph and separation..., who knows.

I'm really curious how it's all going to play out when VR finally makes it's consumer push at the end/beginning of the/next year, with NVIDIA touting 'VR Direct' and it working with it's ... uhem *cough* already impressive 3D Vision library.
They should be gearing up for it, they should be tweaking the living hell out of 3D Vision along with VR Direct. They should be going hand in hand with a few minor adjustments between the two ... if they aren't and it just winds up all being a bit of fluff, we had better be [s]praying[/s] sacrificing to the gods that they don't keep breaking stuff and that somehow our methods of fixing things still remain intact, may as well ask for 3D Vision to go Open Source as well ...

bo3b - thanks for sharing this great market sizing information! Found the relative size of the 2D PC market to be quite interesting. I believe that more than 1% of this latent market would embrace 3D - if they had more exposure to the current state of 3D gaming. Common brick and mortar shopping sites like Best Buy and Costco do not demo 3D PC gaming setups - and industry gaming web sites like Gamespot never mention 3D PC gaming (Oculus Rift, Vive - yes; 3D Vision and HelixModBlog - no).
Perhaps you might be able to convince your NVIDIA contacts to provide a good 3D Vision demo at the 2015 E3, in several weeks? NVIDIA could demo some of the most popular games like Inquisition, Skyrim, and FC3, using projection, Surround, and 4K (LG) TV setups (with latest GTX hardware). This would demonstrate NVIDIA's commitment to future immersion technologies like VR, also.

3D technology is a médium-hard dificult hardware for everyone.
In my case,(im spanish), im 3d player from the beginning, years ago, this technology was imposible to get in any shop, even especific pc shops, when i go to ask for 3d nvidia glasses the sellers seems to have a fool in front of them, they never listen about 3d before...
The only way to get all the kit, (sensor+glases +properly monitor) was by international internet shoping + much time to do it.
When i´ve got all the hardware, then start the affair: A lot of googling to make thinks Works, googling to watch 3d movies, much luck to discover things by the way (such as convergence)...
3D was like makes a master career in something new...
I´m not engineer, not an eminence, not a good student, also im not a good english interprete,
but pasión for this technology moves me to got it... and i am good learning by myself..
Why im telling this story?, just trying to explain why 3d never success to the big public.
is not only the Price in money, add the low marketing design, dificult infraestructura to get the hardware, difficult to use for a new user.
This is the more inmersive way to play a game in my knowledge, but people needs the thinks easy to eat, calibrated and standariced, to be massive this would happen sometime in the future on a new try, but the avatar one´s is ready wasted shoot done...
The good one is we have this community, hélixmod.blogspot also, where some of the most impresive and prepared persons who i never meet in my ordinary life, takes the hélix legacy and makes 3D still alivest and stronger tan ever , for us.
The more impressive is the selfless altruistic and generous they are.
Thanks 3D modders!

That is right man, you are always right in your tiny world, and I don't have better things to do but enter here to try to troll you. I take your ball and give it back to you: "Ignorance is Bliss" is just what define people who do not want to know things and pretend to shut up mouths when some question seems to be uncomfortable, sometimes using the offense as argument. As expected always somebody affected when somebody else ask a "troll" question, right?. Live in the ignorance (it is you who do not want to know) and be happy playing in your virtual (supposedly safe) world.
I do not discover anything if I say that in these forums live a lot of kind of people, with different kind of interest. Also people very affected whith Nvidia's interest.
That is said, I hope not to write anymore on this thread. Anyway all I had to say is said.

Interesting...
If our goal is a louder voice, then in addition to gaining new users, perhaps a more important milestone of ours should be to engage current active 3D Vision users into the community, the vast majority of which are not aware of the HelixMod website nor our active forum.
Do you think nVidia can be convinced to link to the 3D vision forum directly from the 3D Vision tab in the nVidia CP?
Then all we would have to do would be to get HelixMod thread stickied right at the top, with an eloquently written intro...

Good suggestion.
Additionally, I still think that a good E3 demo would provide a unique marketing opportunity for this great technology - E3 is a more focused gathering of game industry developers and tech reviewers. However, NVIDIA's time is limited to prepare for this event (June 16-18, LA), but this community (especially bo3b) might help organize/prepare somehow?

Yeah, to convince people, 3D needs physical advertising with demos. I bought the 3D Vision 2 kit by chance, because it was in stock on the same website I was buying the monitor (they have stock every time there's a solar eclipse :p), 40€ cheaper than on Amazon and the shipping was free. 125€ for the kit, so I took the risk without even knowing if I was going to like it (I liked the 3DS, but I didn't know 3D Vision 2 was THAT superior).
If those conditions hadn't met at that moment... who knows if I wouldn't have bought the 3D kit ever.

Windows 10 64-bit, Intel 7700K @ 5.1GHz, 16GB 3600MHz CL15 DDR4 RAM, 2x GTX 1080 SLI, Asus Maximus IX Hero, Sound Blaster ZxR, PCIe Quad SSD, Oculus Rift CV1, DLP Link PGD-150 glasses, ViewSonic PJD6531w 3D DLP Projector @ 1280x800 120Hz native / 2560x1600 120Hz DSR 3D Gaming.
If those conditions hadn't met at that moment... who knows if I wouldn't have bought the 3D kit ever.
