Need Some Educated Adice
Hello everyone. I am new to the forum but hope to be around for a while. I just recently ordered a Samsung HL61A750 dlp 3d ready tv because i am a big fan of 3d films and cannot wait to view true stereoscopic 3d. I originally thought i would be able to use an existing computer for the 3d dvd playback however i no longer believe i can use this pc because it does not have a dual core processor in it which i have read i will need to output the 1080p signal. I will be using stereoscopic player and that was on their website. Now i am in search of a pc that i can run these 3d dvds on and be able to enjoy them. Unfortunately there is precious little info out there on what the pc requirements are for connecting to these tvs and running 3d dvds so now i turn to you for help. What i do know is: processor needs to be intel pentium d830 2x3ghz or above(i'm assuming)/memory needs to be ddr2 667mhz or above(again i'm assuming) and you should have a compatible pci express graphics card. I also know the card must be able to output a 1080p signal to the tv. Thats it thats all....lol I have read that the NVidea cards have stereoscopic 3d support so i thought i would go with one of those but i have no clue which one. I found a pc for sale that seems to fit exactly what i need only it has no operating system which i guess is ok because from what i read it needs to be an xp computer so i may just have windows xp media center or home edition installed. It's specs fit exactly what i need so here they are:intel pentium d 950 3.4ghz/asrock conroe motherboard(does this support 5.1 or 7.1 sound?)/4gb ddr2 667 2x2gb/250gb hard drive plus dvd cd drives and last but not least the NVidea 8500gt 512mb graphics card which is where my real question lies....does this card support the 3d? Ok guys my 3d future is in your hands.....lol does this computer sound to your educated ears like one that will meet the 3d requirements of playing back the dvds? Which by the way is all it is going to be used for most likely as i just game on the xbox360 and ps3 not my pc. Any help or information you can provide will be more than greatly appreciated. Thank you very much oh and i know i left out 7.1 soundcard but that goes without saying i guess.

I think You need a very powerfull Quad Core to play games and watch 3D videos in 1080p. Your TV is great - could use one myself one day :D

There's some recommended specs here:
http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?p=14650205

or just check in the forum here: http://www.mtbs3d.com/phpBB/
A couple of people have a similar system as Yours I think.

I have some links and 3D videos (640*480 res.) here:
http://www.3d.wep.dk/3dgallery.html

There are still a serious shortage of 3D movies. Even as James Cameron, George Lucas and DreamWorks starts to make 3D movies - lets hope they will work on Our computers in 3D as well.

Personally I think 3D homevideos is going to be a HIT :)

Thanks for the replies and the links. I had seen those requirements in earlier research but they seem a little outdated at this point.
I have always loved 3d and had my mom taking me to all of those that came out in the 80's including the friday the 13th because i am also a horror nut...lol but i was to young to drive or get into an r rated movie back then so thank goodness she was willing to take me. I got to see craeture from the black lagoon and house of wax as well. I buy a lot of 3d dvds from underground3dmovies.com as he puts both anaglyph and field sequential versions on his discs.
I have also posted on mtbs3d but no one can seem to answer my question. I guess i am the only person on earth with this tv that wants to view stereoscopic 3d movies. I am very disappointed with the lack of information out there on just what the requirements are for your pc to run these movies. I guess i will just end up guessing and if i waste my money ill just have a useless computer and view in anaglyph like i have been doing. I should have done more research on how to get 3d to work on those tv's and if i would have seen the lack of information i probably would not have gotten it because now it has become a source of frustration so calling these tvs 3d ready is somewhat of a joke.

I recommend any of the horror/sci-fi titles. It came from outer space and creature from the black lagoon are always excellent choices but that friday the 13th 3d is still the best i have ever seen at the theater....everything pops out at you in it.

Just wondering if you would know if it is true that the fastest graphics card nvidia has that supports stereoscopic 3d is the geforce 7900gtx? I think if i can get this graphics card issue out of the way i will be able to get the pc i need to run these movies.

Please keep in mind that 3d movies other than the few considered to be classics were not very good which in part contributed to the format not catching on the way it should have. Bad acting, bad scripts....you will see it all while watching these films but if you can tolerate that you should enjoy most of the titles dan has on underground3dmovies.com I watched andy warhols frankenstein for the first time in 3d last night and i found it to be rather more enjoyable than the flat version.

I just found out that for movie playback a single core cpu with any recent graphics card plus the stereoscopic player will do the trick. I do not have to buy a new pc at all however if my radeon 9800 pro does not output 1080p i may have to buy a new graphics card. This was found out due to the intelligence and willingness to help by the good people over at mtbs3. Thanks.

Thx, I might give the old horror movies a try

I got a 7900GT (and a fast single core CPU) and it is not fast enough for me to play HD 3D videos (if I had any). 640*480 is fine.
