You can also look at the Crysis 2 fix that DHR worked out based on DarkStarSword's CryEngine breakthrough.

Where you decide to spend some time is definitely your choice.
However, this one is most likely an even more lost cause, because it's not exactly even CryEngine, it's something they've modified for Lumberyard since then.
It also uses tile-lighting as indicated in the header of the shader you posted there. Tile lighting is the latest game fad, and the only person to solve tile-lighting in a game so far is DarkStarSword. Mike_ar69 has a partial solution for Batman, but tile-lighting is why we have no Batman fix.
So... never hurts to look, but go in knowing that this one is probably on the very high end of difficult.
As a recommendation, look for a game that the engine itself already has a known fix pattern, where you can look at an example. This will make it possible for you make a fix for shadows.
Trying to fix shadows in an unknown game-engine is biting off more than you can chew. You need to understand things at a much deeper level to take on that level of problem, and your questions suggest you still don't quite grok the Prime Directive, so I think you'd just get frustrated.

This project is one of the most ambitious and if I remember correctly they promised among other things that VR will be a main feature so it's probably gonna be there even if they're going full Vulkan now.
Sadly it is far from finished but if it takes off there's a big chance it's going to be the game of all games for a long time and in the end with VR implemented and the amount of cash coming in they could easily add 3D support too so let's hope they can keep their promises :)

yep real disappointing, I basically built my cockpit for this game and now it's a waste of time. What real bad is they even released stereoscopic trailers of the game in the past and promised to give it support.

Well I installed the game and Helifax' Unleashed CM and it seems to work with that pretty good.. I was just running around the station but it looked good there.
3D Vision by itself was porked big time.. the splash screen worked fine with 3D vision but once in the game all I saw where stars or weird ness.. now working 3D vision..
So I guess if you want to play SC in 3D it is with Unleashed CM..

I thought I remembered this game was eventually going to become Vulkan only, so might not want to get too attached to playing this in 3D... or on the flip side of that coin: enjoy it now while you can.

yes it is supposed to but so far it is still dx11.. I heard they have a court order to finish this game by 2021 or so.. A friend was telling me this and if they need to get it completed by then I doubt they are gonna wanna switch to Vulcan now with that court order mandate in place..

A video came out not long after this thread died back in 2017, it showed them moving to Vulkan. I would imagine that they have stayed the course and will be transitioning to Vulkan, but I've no idea really, I stopped following this game for the last year or so.

The game looks stunning. There is a lot of attention to details but it is also very buggy. And with current missions it can get boring soon.
Performance is decent I mostly get 60 fps in 1440p but there are regular stutters, especially in the city areas. probably due to the high amount of textures to load, even tough the game was installed on SSD.

I have some issues with the Shadows when 3Dvision CM is enabled. I don't know why, I think AO aslo breaks.
I tried different profiles but couldn't fix it. Any ideas?
Does anyone have an export of the latest Nvidia profiles?
