Hallo all,
on my computer, since the last patch the shadows in Borderlands 2 are broken, when i use 3dvision. this is even with using the helix patch from 2013.
is anyone else experiencing this, and would anyone happen to know a fix?
Cheers.
Yeah, that's the case for everyone. I started working on fixing the new enhanced Borderlands 1 (see thread here: https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/1105275/3d-vision/borderlands-game-of-the-year/ ), and planned on seeing if I could refix Borderlands 2 after, although that is a completely different beast since the new BL1 is now DX11, and BL2 is still on DX9, and requires a different, older tool to fix (Helixmod) that is nowhere near as nice and easy to work with as the DX11 tool (3DMigoto), so I'm not as motivated to get started on that one, despite wanting to replay it again. I also got sidetracked by my Mortal Kombat 11 fix since it's release, although now that it's almost complete, I may return back to the BL series (at the very least to finish up my BL1 fix and post it to the blog soon).

I haven't been keeping up with this but is there a plan to enhance BL2 in the same way the first game was recently?
Might be a better idea to hold off if that's the case.

It has already been enhanced. A few improved effects, and a big texture pack (check the store page). But it still remains DX9.
Today I used dgVoodoo to convert it to DX11. It worked, but there are some important things broken in 3D that I'm still unsure if they can be fixed. I won't look at it for the moment (too busy with other fixes). Probably DJ-RK will do it eventually.

Also worth noting that you can always run the old version that works by using SteamDB and the Steam command line.

For this game in particular, there is nothing about the new version that is important, so I'd recommend just moving back to the prior version.
Thank a lot for all the responses.
Thank you for working on the fixes DJ-RK. I think i already have your BL1 WIP installed. I didn't get to play much yes, so can't comment on it too much. at first glance it looked very good to me.
I'm looking forward to to final versions and the BL2 fix.
Thank you for linking the guide, how to install older game versions from steam. I'm currently playing through the BL2 campaign with some old colleages from university. I'm not sure how feasible/compatible it would be if i was running the old version for it and they wouldn't. Not sure i could convince them to jump through these hoops themselves, sadly (I'm the only one in the group with 3DV). But i'll keep it in mind.

Sadly I haven't been able to make significant progress on this, and not for a lack of trying. Tried a few different offline fix approaches, like dumping all the shaders and editing all the shaders to attempt to re-utilizing the built in UE3 stereo fix code, trying out the available LUA scripts for fixing UE3 games, etc, but haven't had any success, and manually fixing the shaders is way too archaic (but even tried that to some extent without luck).
I feel like maybe something else is broken in tandem, like I'm wondering if maybe one of the recent Nvidia drivers broke compatibility, but I haven't gone as far as installing older drivers to see if they help, but perhaps someone else might be willing to do some testing here and install older drivers to see if it gets the existing fix working again.

I had a look into the shaders of BL2 allready a few days ago when the UltraHd-texture package came out.
I tried to fix the shadows but something is really weird there. I could move them to a better position in front of the player but they are still wrong placed for further depths and it seems they are shifted different for left/right. Really strange.
And I'm not very knowledged in fixing shaders, so I'm affraid I can't fix the game. But it was worth a try.
I had a short message with eqzitara, but he has no clue for the moment.

Well, maybe I found a way to fix this shadow-mess.
It is not perfect at the moment and it needs further tweaking but it looks promising.

Hopefully I'll have chance to try some older drivers over the weekend. Whatever happens I'll report back when I do.
