GTA V - Problems & Solutions List (Please keep GTA discussion here)
  1 / 94
We have far too many GTA V threads already, and information is starting to become scattered. Time for a single thread to collect and discuss the issues we're seeing. Post your issues here, I'll add them to the list (if they can be verified), and I'll note solutions where they exist. If you find an issue, please test and note if it occurs in SLI only, single-GPU only, or both. If you see people creating new GTA threads, please ask them to post here instead. It's probably worth launching a support ticket with Rockstar for any issues you find, as they are meant to actively support 3D in this title. Doesn't hurt to double up, it will make them more aware there are people who want this fixed. Probably best to re-word the issues a bit rather than copy and paste though, so they don't see it as spam. https://support.rockstargames.com/hc/en-us/requests/new 3D Fix https://s3.amazonaws.com/dhr/GTA.V.zip This fixes racing markers and sun glow. MSAA should be disalbed. Patch has been tested on driver 350.12, with the imported profile of the 353.06 driver. Does not affect grass outside Franklin's house, but can easily be seen in more open areas, like near the Vinewood sign. Driver 320.49 does not exhibit this issue, but those on newer cards are unable to run this driver UPDATE This issue was fixed in newer driver releases, however stability seems to suffer on some systems. -Most on-screen text will render in one eye only. Removing the game executable from the nVidia profile using nVidia Inspector resolves this issue, and it's not present on newer drivers. It's also reported to be fixed using the Max Payne 3 profile, or setting AFR2 rendering. Does not seem to affect bloody skidmarks or blood decals on vehicles, only blood splatter on world surfaces. Getting close again moves them to the correct depth. -When an enemy is killed, the targeting reticule switches to an X. This X renders at "screen depth" rather than at the correct world depth. -Convergence setting should ideally allow different values for first-person and third-person views. At present, switching between the two requires a manual convergence adjustment to be usable. -MSAA can cause a grey fog to appear in one eye only General Issues -3D will occasionally become disabled for no reason, observed on single GPU and SLI. Under Windows 7, patch KB2670838 has been observed to help with this issue. -On occasion, many shaders will "break" at the same time, causing the game to become unplayable due to effects rendering at incorrect depth. This sometimes precedes the issue above, or can follow it if you're able to get 3D to kick in again. -Reports of performance bottlenecks in 3D, despite both CPU and GPU usage being well below maximum. From some extensive testing by RAGEdemon, it looks like this may be a driver issue, which limits CPU usage to 2 cores. https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/825678/3d-vision/gta-v-problems-amp-solutions-list-please-keep-gta-discussion-here-/post/4515030/#4515030 [Unconfirmed/requires investigation] -Some water reflections are broken (not sure if this affects both SLI and single GPU, confirmation would be good) [Solved] -Crash on launch. Rendering Issues

[SLI only]
-Most grass and some smaller plants will render in one eye only. Does not affect grass outside Franklin's house, but can easily be seen in more open areas, like near the Vinewood sign. This can be fixed by turning grass to normal, but this sacrifices a significant level of visual fidelity by simply disabling the offending effects. [SLI and Single-GPU]
-Blood decals on the ground pop into an incorrect depth once they are a certain distance from camera.
-MSAA can cause a grey fog to appear in one eye only

General Issues

-3D will occasionally become disabled for no reason, observed on single GPU and SLI.

[Unconfirmed/requires investigation]
-Some water reflections are broken (not sure if this affects both SLI and single GPU, confirmation would be good)

[Solved]
-Crash on launch. Some people have solved this by running DDU www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html and installing the latest driver.

Awesome, thanks for collating the details in one spot. Should help with the current state and best suggestions. For the water reflections being broken, I saw that with single GPU for sure. Those earlier screen shots I took are all with single GPU. The opening sequence showing the pier. No idea about settings or SLI. For people who are looking for fast turnaround on having a fixer take a go at the remaining problems- you won't be surprised that I think it's best to wait a couple of weeks. R* clearly put a lot of effort into the 3D, and I think it's eminently playable at present, with some glitches. Given that they seem to care, I think it's even more clear that we might get some early patches to fix stuff like SLI bugs, and glitches like the plants. It's not a good use of time to try to fix stuff that might be fixed by them, so at least for me, I'm going to wait a bit.

Perhaps a certain setting fixes/breaks them. Or perhaps it was an example of the 3D randomly breaking, which I also experienced once. Single GPU, 970.

It's a good idea to combine all info into one thread -- thanks. Also, I want to add -- YES -- IT IS DEFINITELY important for us all to contribute to a forum thead/ticket on Rockstar's own forums. I am certain they don't check here, so we need to let them know, and when they see a dozen users or more complaining, perhaps they'll patch it up

Having adjustable convergence presets for first and third person would be good for one.

awww, b03b, I was counting on you! Oh well. I'll keep my fingers crossed and enjoy 60FPS although FLAT gameplay. I really hope these fixes get done. Thankfully, they really aren't anything major, the game is still playable, and it seems like they could easily be fixed by Rockstar, or even a righteous Forum member. I just want it noooowwwwwww, though. Lol.

I wont quote Pirate's long list but I can agree with it. The cursor does not always switch to an x after kills though but it does sometimes briefly. My biggest complaint of all would be the graphics (shaders?) get messed up, seems to be ok in one eye but is wrong in the other.. I try and finish my mission that way and then fairly often before I finish the game freezes. So I end up having to try to replay missions often because of it freezing. It seems to happen more often when I get to more rural areas with the bigger grass and such. Overall though I still really enjoy the game seems like it could be top 3d game contender and hope they get the 3d issues worked out..

This thread is a great idea. I tried Stereo Surround 3d with 980 SLI and when it worked, it looked fantastic. I did notice some weird flickering where the 3d would go in and out which started to give me a headache so I turned 3d off. I do have a question though. When we start altering the files and download the fixes for 3d, will we still be able to play online?

Another issue I'm observing on a single GTX 970: - With MSAA enabled the left eye sometimes has a slight greyish shade applied to it during night time. It's looking a bit as if my glasses were steamy. Regards, zy.
altering the files...play online?
There's no guarantees, but this has never been a problem in other games. But hopefully Rockstar patch it so we don't have to, seeing as they're officially supporting 3D.

Had an example of the broken shaders, shadows at screen depth. Did a reload of a game save and it fixed the shaders. Might be easiest way to get it back to normal 3D.

Hey guys, Anybody else having issues with ghosting/crosstalk in this game? The weird thing is that I was not having any issues with GTA V 3D with regards to ghosting at all. Yesterday I decided to update to the 350.12 drivers to try and improve performance. After updating however, I had much more prominent ghosting/crosstalk present. Then I decided to roll back to 347.25 which I was using before (and used DDU to uninstall the 350.12 set). However the ghosting effect has persisted. After trying several different drivers, the ghosting effect has pretty much stayed the same. Just now I did a system restore to see if that would help - but no luck. Not sure what I've done for the ghosting to become much more visible (apart from driver change and now I've rolled back) and it's very annoying to say the least! Haven't changed the contrast/brightness settings of my monitor at all in the past month or so either. Anybody have any ideas what may have caused this? Or how I should try and reduce the ghosting effect? My specs are i5 4690k 980gtx windows 8.1 driver version 347.25 Asus vg278h Usually this monitor has treated me pretty well with regards to ghosting. I dunno why but ever since yesterday having much more of a problem though. Not sure if the problem is software/driver related or monitor related? Thanks in advance guys! EDIT: Ok I just tried Witcher 2 as well and it has the same issue now. Here are a few pictures as well. Hopefully NVidia are reading this. Removing the GTAV.exe profile fixing the text in SLI suggests a driver issue to me. @Dragonblaze84 I have a first gen monitor and I get cross talk and I sometimes notice some drivers can cause more crosstalk than others. I use the NVidia 3D demo as a rough guide. The newest driver, after removing the others using DDD seems to perform well on my rig. Sometimes though a reboot or appears to lessen the effect. On some days the effect appears worse than others. It's intermittent. :/

Sometimes I noticed the depth jumps back to 1% which will give you a flat image aka 2D:) It happened for me 2 times (3D Surround).
