I'm new about this, but I would like to play games on the OLED 55' 4K, whithout the 3DTVPlay limitations. Can someone lead me in the right direction? Thanks guys.

I use joker18's great EDID mod in posting #114, as well as 3DVisionEye Swapper application referenced several pages later (instead of using manual Registry changes suggested in some references). Note that in-game scaling does not work correctly in a number of games like Dark Souls 3, so the native 3840x2160 display size requires at least 980 Ti for some games...

I already PM'ed some of you guys asking a few questions. But now it seems there are way more users already using 4K TVs for 3D Vision in 4K than I thought. So I guess it makes sense to ask the same questions in this thread instead of sending private messages with the same questions to numerous people. So here are my questions: I am about to order the LG 55EF950V OLED 4K TV (55EF9500 in US) but I have some questions left before I purchase the TV so maybe you can help me out. 1. I would like to use the TV for gaming in 4K 3D Vision and it would also serve as my single PC monitor (I want to swap it with my 3D Vision Surround setup). Would that be possible? 2. Are the steps that have to be done to make the TV work in 4K 3D Vision easily manageable or would you say the whole EDID override matter is highly advanced stuff. 1 Yep it's awesome as Pc monitor too, thanks 4k 2 yep easy and someone who has already same tv could share his overide with you. 3 Yep except blue color with some games (GTA solved with crop ctrl F11, DS3 solved with Alt F4) 4 Glorious but 980Ti is minimum, I can't wait for the 1080 Ti or Titan... 5 Ultra but max 25 fps ;)

I have same TV - great display. medium lag. Use its Settings panel to put in Gaming mode (Advanced, then Picture; also enable ULTRA HD Deep Color). 1. No problem at all. I also use as main display for Vive and Rift (when I eventually get Rift to work with my setup, separate discussion). In VR mode, I suggest resetting display to 1080 Desktop, with Display scaling set in NVidia Control Panel. Normal (native) Desktop is 3840x2160, 60 Hz. 2. Process depends upon which OS you are using. Windows 10 requires a one-time security step to override Windows driver signature control. This one-time step requires a special Windows 10 boot selection to enable the EDID to override the Monitor driver. Normally, simply use Window's Device Manager to override the generic monitor driver provided by your latest NVIDIA display driver (under Monitors). The message thread that chtiblue references above includes links describing more information about both Windows 10 security steps and loading the EDID file (in first 10 pages), if more information is desired. 3. I also suggest using NVidia Control Panel/Change Resolution to select Full Output dynamic range (not Limited), RGB format. 4. State of the art. Thanks guys for all the information. Since I am using Win 10 it seems I need to do this one time security step. Everything that has been said here considered I really don't see any reason why I shouldn't give it a go now!? Thanks for pointing out the resolution conflict for Rift and Vive. I definitely need to remember that since I own both devices. Will do some more research including price-tags now and then I will buy that baby!

It provides 2X 1080p resolution, in horizontal dimension (3840x1080 pixels/eye), so EDID mod definitely improves resolution over 1080p display. Note that others in this forum have compared SBS with TB format, and felt TB (similar to line-interlaced format) may have a little less visual artifacts in 3D (perhaps because horizontal axis is more connected to stereo baseline). By the way, I use the display at its minimum 3D viewing distance (as close as I can get), around 4 ft from screen, to obtain the largest FOV.

...and you can't make out individual pixels? I am also planning to get as close as possible but I am not sure how close will be possible without being able to see those vertical odd-lines. I am sitting 7.5 feet away from my 60" LG 1080p TV that I am using for my consoles and Blu-Ray watching. When watching 3D this is as close as I can get before seeing those odd lines. 4 feet would be great by the way. With this distance your FOV should be nearly completely occupied.

You will probably lose 3D (at edges) before you see individual pixels, as you approach the screen. You will definitely see a higher resolution image than your 60 in 1080p display provides, with darker blacks...
