What kind of glasses i should get for Benq XL2411T monitor?
I just looked out 3D glasses from the online shop and there is so many options, passive, active, red/blue etc, i'm really confused. I have never used 3D before and i don't know much about it, so i wanted to ask what kind of glasses i should get to make it work? Does any kind of glasses work or is it better to get something spesific?

Not to defend NVidia, but the reason they are expensive is that it gives you much higher quality than a lot of other options. Depends on whether you will notice or care. You can use red/blue anaglyph on that monitor for free, if you want to give it a try. This is the lowest quality option, but it's hard to argue with free. You can use any red/blue glasses you have, even paper ones. Look for the Discover option in the NVidia Control Panel. As MrInfinit3 notes, you cannot use passive glasses on that monitor, the technology is wrong. It's set up for active glasses, specifically 3D Vision glasses. It won't work with other active glasses, like DLP glasses.

I guess the expense is relative though. For me the entry cost for 3D was £850 for a new graphics card, and monitor which already has an emitter and the glasses. Had I already got a compatible monitor and an NVidia card instead of ATI, the £100 for an emitter and glasses would seem cheap, specially as there are so many games which are massively improved by the technology. The replay value is huge when you go through your catalogue of games to see which ones work and what looks the best. There is no other £100 equipment I can think of which can add such "wow" factor to the games you already own, unless you manage to get a massive screen or projector cheap :-) Also, if you buy the kit online from Amazon or something and don't like it, you can always return it. The NVidia 3D Vision 2 glasses are also pretty decent quality. I also have a 3D projector which uses DLP Link glasses, and even the £60 glasses are pretty small by comparison and not rechargeable, and have the added downside that bright scenes on the screen can sometimes cause them to lose the signal and turn off for a few seconds. You wont get any problems with the NVidia glasses, and they come with different bridges for the nose to make them more comfortable.

If it's any help, I have the same monitor, a GTX780 and just bought the 3d vision 2 kit yesterday. It was simplicity itself to set up and was up and running within minutes of being unboxed. I know I haven't had much time to use it but I got it mainly for gaming and, so far, the results are amazing. Skyrim in particular is awesome in 3D (once you fix the shadows, takes 30 seconds). Even some games that state "Not recommended" for 3D are good, it just takes a little getting used to - ie Borderlands 2. The only downside I can think of is that using the glasses with my Logitech G430 headset does get a little uncomfortable after a while, but it may just be a case of getting used to it. tl;dr - The NVidia 3D Vision 2 kit is fantastic for gaming on the Benq XL2411T but if you are in any doubt take the advice given above and try before you buy/use Amazon.

@Jester58th: If you haven't discovered HelixMod yet, you should give it a try on both Skyrim and Borderlands2. The fixes make 3D work pretty much flawlessly. http://helixmod.blogspot.com/2012/09/borderlands-2-3d-vision-patch.html http://helixmod.blogspot.com/2012/03/elder-scrolls-v-skyrim-3d-vision-all-in.html

If Jester58th fixed the Skyrim shadows in stereo 3D in 30 seconds without the Helix fix, then you should hire him immediately, Bo3b! :-)

@Bo3b: Thanks for the info/links. I used the helixmod for Skyrim shadow fix but hadn't realised there was a Borderlands 2 fix too. (I've been too busy rediscovering/being awestruck in Skyrim, lol) @Zappologist: lol, I just meant it took me 30 seconds to unpack and copy/paste the files into the Skyrim folder, wasn't trying to imply expertise/knowledge/take any credit. As far as computers are concerned, and pretty much in life in general, I am a bumbling old(ish) fool who can Google, follow simple instructions and tie my own shoelaces.
