Local to Santa Clara, CA or Austin, TX area? Broken DLP/CRT detection in drivers post 1.15? Andrew F
Really this should be stickied, but I doubt that will happen in a "user-to-user" forum, but Andrew is asking for help to get this months old problem solved with Samsung LED DLP detection (which also is happening with other devices as well). His response is buried, so I'll keep bumping this for a while:
We apologize for this. I really cant explain why its not working.
Is there anyone in the Santa Clara, CA or Austin, TX area that wants to come by the office for some debugging fun? PM me!
Personally I think they can do more with remote support and user testing, but if this is what they are asking for, this might be the quickest route to get this fixed.

I agree that while this is a very welcome gesture, its usefulness will be quite limited as there are likely very few if any users local that have the problem. Andrew, since the core problem appears to be detection would it help if the affected users provide you with a copy of their Display EDID file? For those not familiar with EDID, it is the profile stored in your display that the OS uses to identify the monitor type and timings. They could use a copy of Phoenix EDID Designer to extract a copy of their EDID so you and the Nvidia support team can view why your software isn't detecting correctly.
Just a thought. I would love to see the same from the Acer H5360 users out there...

That was already done for the HL61A750 at least. It was posted in another thread and I PM'ed the link to Andrew. There are other threads dedicated to better/alternate options to hoping somebody responds to this request. I thought this needed to be highlighted because of the glacial pace on this issue if this is what Nvidia is offering it might be a while before we hear anything else.

Can Phoenix EDID designer be used to change what 3DVision is detecting? For example, change manufacturer and device ID to something that is compatible but leaving the actual monitor timings intact?

You may have noticed that he asked for a PM. This isn't a PM, it's a thread. If you're affected by the issue that Andrew describes, send the man a PM. NVIDIA is trying to reproduce the issue. They are unable to on their setup. The easiest and best way for them to begin troubleshooting it, is to bring in an entire setup that's having the problem. You can debate the best way to troubleshoot and EDID files all you would like. If you want to see the problem fixed, kindly send him the PM he's asking for. ;)

Please don't take this the wrong way, as I'm not trying to be abrasive. Obviously, this is a detection issue, as the Samsung's and Mitsubishi's use the identical TI chips for 3D, and EDID is usually used for detection. Nvidia won't let it's customers know the method it uses for detection, but instead, asks it's customers to bring in their entire setup to their offices?
While most of these displays aren't manufactured anymore, I'm sure a company like Nvidia can get their hands on at least one of them, without asking for customers to do it for them. I live in Huntsville, Al, and know that there is a Nvidia office here, just not sure exactly what they do there. If it really comes down to it, sure, I'll bring my display in, with some help.
EDIT: And FWIW, I'm not even a 3D Vision user, I don't even have a nvidia graphics card, but I'm pro 3D, and simply try to help out.
