Some not great news, people. The story mode DLC just dropped, and it's a broken mess. The REALLY crappy part about it is there's no way for me to pause the scene to allow me to hunt down shaders to be fixed. I can, however, do a frame analysis to locate the broken shaders, and replay the scene as often as necessary though, so it is still possible to fix, just not in an ideal fashion. Hopefully, just like the main game, it'll just be a handful of shaders to fix and won't take long. I'll keep you guys informed on an update for the fix.

Thanks man. You confirmed my worst fears as I had not fired this up yet. That said I don't really care about the story mode, I am one of those weird content people that just play it for the pvp, like the genres designed for. =) Hopeing the normal game-play is still okay. I'll fire it up when I get home. Thanks for keeping on top of this. Tekken 7 is on the horizon and using the same engine and by all reports is the best looking fighting game of all time. I hope your still around for when that game drops their will probably be a free copy of it in it for you :P

Yeah, regular gameplay seems to be unaffected. I, for one, am quite intrigued with the plot behind the SF universe, and wish that it was expanded more in the previous games. I remembered seeing the epic intro movies for SFIV (each different version), and wishing such a story mode existed then (not to mention for SFIII). SF: The Animated Movie remains one of my fav animes to this day! :) A shame there weren't any good follow ups. As for Tekken, I certainly do have interest towards it, and I don't have any plans of disappearing anytime soon, so I think you can count on me for that one as well.

Streetfighter has always had a pretty .. I don't know, barebones storyline? It's blanka balls to the face, fireballs and uppercuts man. What, Ryu is a hobo that travels the world, and Ken is a stoner? XD. I do admit some of those old Streetfighter animes were cool. I guess I'll be playing through it for the free fight money at least, I am a bit interested what they can do with the storyline. So far it's almost been the same story every game, I guess that changes this time... Yeah seems like its working as normal which is a relief at least, must just be the cutscenes but I haven't been able to unlock any of the new areas since I need to spend that fight money on the new characters.

Update is posted to the blog.
Streetfighter has always had a pretty .. I don't know, barebones storyline? It's blanka balls to the face, fireballs and uppercuts man. XD.
Yeah, I dunno, I kinda like the simplicity of it, but I suppose it's not the actual plot itself I like about it, just the potential for epic power struggles that gets me. I never watched DBZ, but I assume I get out of SF what DB fans get out of DB, if that makes any sense. As for my take on SFV story mode, it wasn't exactly what I was hoping for, with it's fair share of nonsensical BS, but it was amusing enough for their first take at it and I really enjoyed watching it as a 3D anime, so I hope that they continue to add more through DLC's or future installments to the series.

The Tekken 7 one should be really good. Tekken has always had these same concepts you are talking about although the stakes tend to be significantly higher, than in street-fighter. With the Mishima family and their dominance and corporations ruling the world and all the extra mysterious supernatural stuff. It's typically had a very convoluted, crazy but also pretty in depth story for a fighter too. The stuff they are doing with their story mode looks really slick too, with the story mode playing out like an actual interactive movie with fights changing into cinematics and different scenarios seamlessly. I am really excited for it. (hence the avatar I have been rocking for a fair while now) I am a big Streetfighter fan as well but mainly for the gameplay. Still I would like to experience the story mode in 3d, how are you going with it? Should I bother waiting? ... oops I spoke to soon. Saw your updated fix was up on the blog and tried it out for a bit. really nice work, seems like you have fixed some of the reflections from the orginal version too?

Yeah, I liked the story behind Tekken as well. It seems grounded more in reality, other than the supernatural stuff, and the actual fighting tournament. I went through a dark age of gaming for a while, where I wasn't really playing games much, after Tekken 3, so I haven't really followed what's happened in the story since, but is it safe to assume it still boils down to a back and forth struggle between Heihachi and Kazuma (and occasionally Jin) murdering each other? lol. And yeah, for the SFV fix, I finally managed to track down where to properly fix the remaining lighting issue, which was much more prevalent in the story mode. Glad it's evident as well during regular gameplay too. Now if only could figure out the stupid life bar glitch the fix would be close to perfect!

Yeah, basically Tekken 7 is supposed to end the Mishima feud, and the story mode is going to go through the entire saga and tie up the loose ends. they are hinting that either Heihachi or Kazuya are finally going to die. (personally I feel its the old mans time to go.) Its been revealed that Heihachi Kiled Kazuyas mother and he is super pissed. And then we have Akuma not only as a guest character, but as a crucial figure in the storyline. (and as a coincidence? absent from SF5) Tekken did used to be heavily grounded in martial arts and more "reality" but I would say from tekken 4 onwards its getting close to dragonball Z levels of ridiculousness. With all the Cursed bloodline stuff and alot of characters having very anime like moves. (Just look at the final fight scene in Bloodline Vengeance CGI movie for example, also awesome in 3d.) I started to play through the SF5 Story mode with your new fix a bit and really, that life bar glitch is not a big deal, and I play it competitively so I don't think its something to be that concerned about. I honestly don't notice it most of the time and it doesn't always glitch out when it matters. I have seen a few broken effects in the story mode, though. One is near the beginning when you play Balrog and Vega to beat Guile and Chinli. The stage in question has tire tracks on the ground that are not at depth.

Bad news. The "Juri" patch went live today and it looks like they have broken the game. If 3dvision is enabled in the NCP the game starts but monitor reports. "Out of range". Turning 3dvision off resolves this. Can anyone else who plays this game please confirm this is also happening for you? DJ-RK?

even before the patch I had blinking shadows in the new stages, it only worked well for me in the history mode and old stages, did anyone had this too? I did everything said in the install info included the nvidia inspector thing.

Yes I had it. In my case it was cause I had SLI enabled which doesn't really work well for this game... To follow up I can confirm this "Out of range" error is only a problem for me in Windows 10. Windows 7 is not effected. *Edit* Ok that was strange but it appeared it messed with the driver somehow. Reinstalling the latest driver with DDU fixed it.

Glad you got that sorted for yourself Necro. I just tried and had no issues whatsoever. Could have sworn I remember you running into this issue before as well (but maybe not for this game specifically), so you either got really bad luck with drivers, or something could be up on your end. It's a simple enough solution (just a PITA), so probably not worth putting too much thought into over.

Yeah game is fine. I have seen that flickerings issue (shadows, some lighting) birthright is reporting, even on a single card come to think of it. but I think that could be a driver specific problem. Only similar issue I have had was with resolution and Dark souls 3 but that was actually crashing the game.

Thought I'd mention that I've uploaded a new version of the fix to the blog for those still fighting in the streets for the 5th time. Version 2.2 updates: -Fixes shadows under characters that were missing after one of the latest updates -Fixed lighting/specular reflections, which were previously disabled all together (needs high convergence around 150-250 for them to be in the correct location). Adds another layer to the awesome visuals -Added side-by-side / top-and-bottom 3D support @Necropants: I even managed to get the lighting/shadows that rebroke in the version you beta tested, so you should download the latest from the blog as well. Thanks again for testing and reporting back.

Awesome man. I had dropped this for a while since I've been playing the fixed netcode patch for MKXL. Really appreciate you maintaining this though will check it out soon.
