Black ops is as good to play in 3D as Arkahm Asylum or Metro2033.

Everything is perfect.

I got it at the midnight launch in NZ - first country to get it. :)

How much of a performance hit do you get in 3D?

I still dont know if i should get it on my PS3 on a 50'' 3DTV whit no performance hit with bad controls...or on my PC the way COD is meant to be play.

Not positive on how the PS3 version runs in 3D but I am sure it scales down something. Consoles aren't magic they have to sacrifice something to render the second perspective necessary for 3D. I bet they drop the resolution down a bit, just like they do when you play in split screen on most console games. Either that or the FPS isn't the locked 60 that it normally is. Either way, there is no way the the basic game with out 3D runs exactly the same when 3D is enabled. Something is sacrificed.

I'd say your GTX295 and the rest of your PC is better than what the PS3 is working with, so therefor you will get better performance on PC.

Also, even though you have the resolution on the PS3 set to 1080p, it doesn't mean the native res the game is running in is 1080p. The game is probably running at sub 720p resolution and then unscaled to 1080p.

Got it on 360... and you certainly DO get a performance hit. They scale down res and textures and such so that it's quite a pixelly mess. And on top of that, it must be 30fps instead of the 60 COD games usually are on consoles. You can def feel it. In busy scenes it struggles a bit.

I was REALLY pumped about this, because I generally have to buy the game twice. I enjoy the single player on my pc, in 3d with all the bells and whistles turned on and 1080. But because I like playin multiplayer with all my pals, I have to go do that on the 360...since they all have it on that.

Thought this would be the first time I could at least play in 3d against them online. But I turned it off after the first round. Aside from the fact it ghosted it's ass off (lots of bright brights near dark darks a lot of the time... which aint no good for these new 3d hdmi1.4 tvs), it was also quite 'last gen' looking in 3d. Graphics are scaled down too much.

I'm not sure it has to be. I don't think Wipeout on ps3 looks as much of a downgrade graphically as this. Motorstorm does. But then it was only 30fps already. So they had to get the grunt from somewhere... so the grahics took a hit. But i figured since cod was 60fps, it would look mostly the same, but at 30fps. Not the case.

Definitely hoping this isn't going to be the trend for Gran Turismo 5, Killzone3, or Crysis2. Technically those games should just be moving from 60 to 30 frames. Well... hopefully.

And in the case of Crysis2. Crytek supposedly have a magic way of doin 3d which on costs them 1 or 2 frames. I know it aint in their best interests. But it'd sure rock if they shared that li'l secret with the rest of the industry.

Anyway. PC all the way baby.
