Can't get 3D Vision to work with GTX 680 and ASUS VG278H monitor
I really have tried (I believe) everything in order to get the built in 3D transmitter working (no green light): - latest Nvidia drivers installed - dual link DVI cable connected - refresh rate set to 120 hertz - 3D glasses fully charged - did run the 3D setup routine as part of the Nvidia contral x-times - exchanged the monitor and got another brand new one ....and still.....the 3D emitter doesn't start, no green light, no 3D glasses flickering / shuttering and so on. How can I get the 3D mode enabled? HELP!

Have you tried plugging the emitter into different USB ports?

Rats - I thought the integrated monitors had a USB on them, too. Since nobody else has said anything, you might want to try NVIDIA's official support.

There were documented issues with the built in emmiter on the first batch of those monitors. http://3dvision-blog.com/6456-problems-with-asus-vg278h-3d-monitor-and-the-integrated-ir-emitter/ You might read thru the forums over there. As I recall Bloody also posted a pic of the monitor with the bezel removed and the emitter exposed.

After you set up S3D with Nvidia utlity, try "Test stereoscopic 3D effects" in Nvidia Control Panel. If it wont help, something wrong with your monitor. I have GTX680 and VG278H also. Never had problems :/

That's why I don't trust integrated emitters and stick to the USB external ones. I use the 3DV emitter for my S27A950D to enable 3D Vision support, but I sold my 3D Vision glasses, as they are of no use for me, since I can only use Samsungs which are far more comfortable, lighter and better in my opinion.

i got same problems with that stupido emitter and i thought that's an RMA case. But then i unplugged POWER cable (DVI-D still attached) and waited for a 10-20sec and then i plugged it the power cable. After that emitter started working. It's worth of trying :) //Thug

What happens when you guys load up a game, do you get any messages? I don't have my VG278H set to 120hz and everything works. You enabled 3D Vision using Control-T once you got in the game?

The power cable trick worked for me too. I'm starting to suspect that there is a major bug in this monitor's firmware that causes this problem. If the emitter was actually "faulty", it simply wouldn't work at all (or you'd get the emitter disconnected message in the monitor's information screen). It's odd that the monitor itself can switch into 3D Mode while the emitter may remain "turned off". I had a really hard time getting it working both with the PC and the Xbox 360 at the same time because this would keep on creeping up. I wish the firmware could be updated so that Asus could release a fix for this bug or there was a way to manually toggle the emitter on when it doesn't do so automatically. So many people have thought they had a defective monitor when they really didn't.

I've had this problem. Once in a while my nvidia control panel won't load at windows startup and then I incurr in this problem because the nvidia control panel itself loses the asus monitor as a 3D monitor in the 3D configuration settings, using 3D vision discover instead. Correcting this awake my asus (and the emitter, of course)
