NVidia Control Panel defaulting to crappy stereoscopic 3D every single time
I just recently bought a pair of 3D vision glasses and have been having a phenomenal time with them, but something hugely frustrating is that every single time I switch on my machine (and other times like when I switch between apps), the NVidia Control Panel defaults the 3D settings to stereoscopic 3D. I've seen many other reports of people having experienced this issue and I have yet to see an adequate solution. For an issue that appears to be widely reported on the net, it strikes me as odd that there has been no update or solution to solve this problem. Does NVidia support for 3D vision even exist? It appears not as the support pages for it just link me to the forums or the product page. I think it's very poor stuff that this problem has remained for so many people without any response from NVidia or any attempt at a solution. It's driving me mad that every time I go to play a game now, I have to go into the Control Panel and fiddle with the settings... this is the age of plug and play and forget, not having to worry about this sort of nonsense. It's exactly this sort of stuff that keeps people away from PC gaming...

TBH..I can't understand the issue your describe. You mean that every time you start your PC 3D settings are at their default values ? (depth, key shortcuts etc) ? Never had that issue and I mean ever (with any driver came out so far), unless you mean something else

I know for me, sometimes, when I have the 3D Vision Ready selected, it will automatically change to 3D Vision Discover on it's own. Frustrating as I have to get out of the game and change it back to 3D Vision Ready. Perhaps that's what you're talking about?

You can set up a batch file to run on startup that corrects the setting. Won't eliminate the issue completely but it makes it a lot less annoying. https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/544995/3d-vision/handy-batch-file-to-fix-3d-settings/1/

In NVidia Control Panel, the "3D Vision Discover" option will be selected instead of my monitor. If I change the setting to select my monitor, it will have reverted the following day when I turn on my computer.

If you do not use 3D, then when you install the drivers select "custom" and uncheck the 3D Vision portion of the driver. If you use 3D Vision Discover(Nvidia's anaglyph format) at all, then you need to disable 3D in the control panel and hit "apply". Then re-enable it when you want it.

This issue could be linked to "Use hardware acceleration" in Chrome... Since I've disabled it (on freshly installed Windows 10) this problem seems to go away... Not sure, though, since I do have startup registry fix applied. :) Worth try anyway!

It's a horrible unintuitive workaround, and for an issue that's been around this long it's mystifying why NVidia haven't tried to address the issue. I've seen quite a number of similar threads discussing this issue and not once has an NVidia representative commented on this. Clearly don't give much of a damn about their customers...

At least they let us bash them on their own site. What regularly gets said about nvidia around here would be a quick ban on several company forums. But yes, they really are the paroxysm of absolute incompetence and all deserve to be told to go type their resumes.

How hard would it be to have like even one guy spending a few hours here and there monitoring the forums, looking for issues like these and feeding them to the appropriate teams to look at possible resolutions? Brand loyalty doesn't come from ignoring your customers and offering zero support after all!

I see that nobody from NVidia has responded yet neither. Thanks NVidia, I'll be sure to recommend your products knowing how great your support is...

That's quite odd. Works for me quite well, and lots of other people are using it. Are you having the same issue whether you execute it manually or through a group policy?

yeah it just enables/disable stereoscopic 3D each time, instead of enabling it for my monitor.
