X2: The Threat - looks excellent in 3D showcase 3D gaming
1 / 2
Just wanted to highlight how brilliant X2: The Threat plays in 3D Vision.
With very minimal tweaking this becomes a excellent showcase game. You can play with all the settings on, including shadows and the experience is amazing.
A little patching is required, definetly so for windows 7 users
Please check SolutionGaming for more in depth details.
Ive also uploaded 3D screenshot's onto the site for downloading

Nope unfortunatly both X3 games appear to suffer with the icons,

My problem with X3 is that when I adjust the dept or the convergence the stars seems to be the only ones that move in our out, thus I end up with stars infront of other objects. very annoying for me

I have tested the mini-hud mod with X3: Reunion - and pleased to say it makes a big improvement. The screen is far less cluttered, which makes the 3D experience far more enjoyable.

So no one is having problems with the Stars being at the wrong depth in X3?
I am trying to play the game but this is very distractive. X2 looks alot better in 3d for me. :(

nope, no problems with the stars, they just seem to work on a far back plane. The moving star effect also works giving the sense of movement. No idea why you might be getting something different.
Im switching between 60% and 100% depth and adjusting conv to stop doubling of image. Game and drivers patched to latest.

Hello mate. Soz to disagree with you but regarding X3 Reunion.
My stars are defo at the wrong depth. I know it is hard to tell looking at still screenies but the X3 screenies on your lovely site show the star plane to be very close. The divergence is no where near the distance you would expect it to be e.g. approaching the same as the space between the eyes (depth infinity). Are you sure about the star field depth?
Did you post screenies of X2?
edit
Just seen the screenies in X2. I measured the divergence and think the star field as also it at the wrong depth. That is a right bottomer because the HUD etc is in 3D! DoH!!!!

Yep I guess I can see what you mean, though can't say it really distracts for me, still thinks it looks good, X2 even better.
It's funny how we all seem to get different levels of enjoyment of 3d with each game. ie Dead Space - ive never seen such wide and varied remarks how it improves and ruins the game
Thanks for comment on site, it's coming along, a complete redesign is coming very soon

I tried to play the opening scene and as I was traveling to the gate I can tell that the gate was behind the stars. When i try to adjust convergence the stars move while the gate and other objects don't (unless I increase depth)

nope, no problems with the stars, they just seem to work on a far back plane.

It's funny how we all seem to get different levels of enjoyment of 3d with each game. ie Dead Space - ive never seen such wide and varied remarks how it improves and ruins the game
Thanks for comment on site, it's coming along, a complete redesign is coming very soon
