Hello everyone. I have a Dell Inspiron with Windows 8 which I just bought/received from Dell last week. It came with a GeForce GT 650M and 1 set of 3D glasses. I have gone to the Nvidia control panel and ran the setup wizard. I can see the 3D effects on the screen shots after the setup. However, when I put in a 3D movie, the movie will flicker lots. I can see the 3D effects through the flickering. Also, I get 2 other much smaller windows on the top left and right of the screen showing the movie as well. I have called Dell about it, downloaded newer drivers, but they still do not know what is going on. Could someone please point me in the right direction?
Thanks in advance

Sorry Manny, I don't know laptops, but I do know that you have to have SOFTWARE capable of 3D Blu Ray playback. - That's different than 3D Vision. For instance, I game in 3D Vision on my desktop PC, but to watch 3D Blu Ray movies I have to use Cyberlink Power DVD 12.

Also would the "Bluray" playback software need to be configured to send out the right sort of 3D to the screen? e.g. stacked frame mode. I don't use bluray on my PC, but perhaps SnickerSnack knows if this is normally done automatically or not.

I use Power DVD 12 to watch 3D Blu-Rays on my active 3D TV, rather than my 3D Vision ready monitor. All I know is that my TV's 3D mode must be engaged and in side-by-side mode, and the 3D mode in Power DVD must ALSO be engaged. I don't recall any settings to change the output mode in that program itself. Only controls for adjusting depth and for switching "left-eye first" or "right-eye first." Sorry that's about it for my knowledge.
What software program are you using to play 3D Blu-Rays Manny? It really sounds like your problem resides with the software. I'm thinking either you don't have 3D Blu-Ray capable player software, or else it needs to be updated. You mentioned updating drivers, but not updating your player software.

Thanks for replying. I have Power DVD 10. I have made sure I have the latest drivers. I am under the impression that I am supposed to get 3D blu rays working fine in that when I start Power DVD, on the menu at the bottom of the screen, I can switch between 2D and 3D. I have made sure the options have the nvidia card selected for 3D. As I stated earlier, I have gone through the set up lots and the demo screens are in 3D and display correctly. Any ideas?

Just a thought, have you made sure Power DVD is up to date. I don't have it personally and not really sure if Power DVD supports it but maybe try running it in a window to see if the 3D's works that way.
edit:
There's some info here that may be of help, just keep in mind the OP was trying to watch a 2D Blu in 3D, besides that there are some real tips in there about what settings should be. :D

Your problem sounds quite unique, so I'm just having a guess here. Is your monitor displaying the wrong eyes in blu ray 3D? E.g. Left eye sees right eye etc? Can you explain what you see per eye if you close the other one? Ifs it a stable image,or is each eye seeing a flicking image? The problem would appear to be more likely an issue with power DVD 10, have you also asked their forum for advice? Also, these two smaller windows that pop up, can they be closed?

Thanks for the ideas. I was trying to play a 3D blu ray in 3D. I have the left/right eye thing set up correctly. I will have a go on the power dvd forums since you guys think it is a software issue. Thanks!
