So an update.
I exchanged my monitor. Got Asus VG248QE, connected it via display port. I can enable 144Hz in 2D mode. The 3D vision setup wizard recognizes the monitor.
New problem. My 3D vision 2 glasses won't turn on. Kept it for charging for several hours. It continuously blinks orange. Now returning it. Will get it replaced.
And everyone thanks for your patience in answering me. :)

They do take a long time to charge 3-4 hours
If they are not charging at all, you can try pulsing them.
I bought two pair last year that wouldn't charge, I hooked them a phone charger from a Motorola Razor that I used to have. I plugged the charger into a power strip and flicked the switch off and on for about 20-30 minutes. The problem is that the battery will get so low that the circuitry stops them from charging, by sending short repeated bursts of power it eventually adds enough charge that the circuitry allows charging.
These were version 1 glasses with really old batteries that are still working fine.

I actually left them charging for more than 24 hours. Even then it did not work. Since it is brand new anyone would expect it to just work rather than trying tricks. So lets see what the dealer on amazon has to say about it.
