Remember Me will be DirectX 9

Lots of glasses are half-empty nowadays it seems. I think this is extremely positive because it shows that 3D Vision is still something that some devs are actively supporting, even if they make the odd mistake along the way. The quickest way for a community to die is for that community to hang itself by it's own noose - so complaining about, and to, those developers who are proactively trying to support 3D, instead of thanking them profusely for not throwing 3D in the bin, is a sure fire way to kill off support. There seems to be two contradictory dialogues going on: firstly about how 3D Vision is dead, and Nvidia are doing nothing, corporate facists etc etc, and then secondly there is actually complaining when a game comes out that is actually *excellent*, but not quite *perfect*, it's screw nvidia them corporate facists lying to me because there is a light or a shadow that does not work. Come on people, what happened to the good old days when all we wanted was a tool to allow us to disable bad effects and then we would be *really* happy? Oh hang on a minute, we got one of them... And then our expectations and sense of entitlement went through the roof. Metro Last Light looks fantastic - who cares if you can't play it on Ultra-Uber settings? Most people can't anyway, the average gamer has no where near the rig to do that, so we're not exactly being singled out. Less than two years ago the dialogue was "but we don't need all that fancy crap anyway because the third dimension adds so much more to the experience than a bit of extra lights and shadows". I personally think that is still true. Remember Me looks fantastic, I just bought it, the self shadows are a complete non-issue to me, though I have now seen that Helix has fixed it so I will obviously take that as a bonus - thanks Helix. I realize this was a bit of a ramble, but I just don't get the complaining about games that look awesome, coming from devs that are clearly continuing to support 3D. It is just so counter productive.

@Tehace 3d vision 1 glasses are real bad on a projector. People say it doesnt make a difference on a monitor so I dunno but definitely amazing on projector. 3D vision 2's are amazing unfortunately I don't know how you will get your hands on one. I had tons of ghostings with 3d vision 1's [tried 3 pairs] on both projectors I owned. I used DLP link over 3d vision 1's. I have 0 ghosting on 3d vision 2's or close enough. @mikear69 It's just when someone puts a stamp on something/or claims it's "3D Vision Ready". If myself/Helix/whomever has to do something to get it there. It just feels like we are helping someone else make a buck. I accept that adding 3D support is a choice. If they dont add it fine, Ill do it with a smile [If I can]. But if they don't they have no right to claim it. If a game is 3D vision ready and someone has to do something major to get it there thats 10x worse. Nothing I do is for Nvidia/Developer but when they do something like that. They force it on me/whomever.

I've bought 3dvision2 kit (emiter+glasses) + extra pair of glasses from ebay I was just surprised that I could not find them in normal stores in my country while there are other product compatible with this technology (monitors without emitters / projectors / etc.)

After new Helix`s shadow fix i was able to set them to High. Also somhow it helped with lens flares in my case. Everything looks great to me. I had to change old "PerObjectShadowTransition" back to 60 as well.

Once again Helix demonstrated that "Helix ready" is the true "3DVision ready" :) Thanks a lot for the fix! Regarding the "3DVision ready" label: I also think that it is great that developers still care about S3D. That's the reason why I suggested to be positive, friendly and patient when asking DONTNOD to fix the remaining issues (which is needless now after the Helixmod fix?!). I also gave up the hope that a 3DVision ready title offers flawless S3D out of the box. I understand that they have other priorities than fixing remaining S3D issues in the crucial phase before the release. But in contrary to developers that don't care about S3D I expect for a 3DVision ready labeled title that they take notice of reports about remaining issues and try to fix them in their updates. So that we finally get a game that really offers (almost) flawless S3D - at least with one of the graphic quality settings. In the unfixed Remember Me there are issues with dynamic shadows that are visible all the time and that can't be removed by changing the shadow quality in the graphic options. Especially now that we can compare the Helix-fixed shadows to the original ones it is obvious how this broken shadows affected the S3D quality. So I think it would have been right to politely ask the developers to fix this issue with an update. Maybe they didn't even realize that there is an issue? I sometimes have the feeling that in the development of a 3DVision ready game the quality of S3D isn't tested by experienced S3D users but by S3D noobs. They seem to look at the game with the standard depth (15%!!!) and can't see any issues. You also wouldn't recognize the shadow issues in Remember Me if You play it with 15% depth. But with 100% depth and higher convergence the issues become obvious. So we as experienced S3D users often are the real QA for 3DVision ready titles and should give our feedback. Maybe we should do this even after the fix from Helix...? Another question: In RM there are many different camera perspectives (over shoulder, complete character, panorama, cutscenes). So I wanted to implement different convergence presets in DX9Settings.ini. I tried this: [code][General] UseEndScene = false SkipSetScissorRect = true DefPSSampler = 14 //DefVSConst1 = 254 Preset1Key = 53 Preset2Key = 54 Preset3Key = 55 Preset4Key = 56 DefPreset = 1 [Preset1] UseSepSettings = true Convergence = 0x430a830a Separation = 0x42c80000 [Preset2] UseSepSettings = true Convergence = 0x42ba6dbf Separation = 0x42c80000 [Preset3] UseSepSettings = true Convergence = 0x43a58661 Separation = 0x42c80000 [Preset4] UseSepSettings = true Convergence = 0x4167d70a Separation = 0x3f800000[/code] Unfortunately it doesn't work with the d3d9.dll used in the fix. Only when I use the debug-dll the hotkeys work - but then the shadows are broken again :( Any suggestions? Is this a common prblem or only related to my system?

[Preset1]
UseSepSettings = true

[Preset2]
UseSepSettings = true
Convergence = 0x42ba6dbf

Im going to bed, will add different presets in the morning. I think I can add controller support for presets as well[with ahk]. If you cant wait look in my comments. "Custom Convergence/depth Presets". What you did was right but thats "old debugger style". Like that would of worked like 6-7 months ago.

So I guess my message last night was a bit combative, sorry, was frustrated working on shadows in COJ Gunslinger. Basically I agree that putting a 3D Vision label on a game does define a standard, and so some thing like Borderlands 2 when it came out really was taking the piss. I guess my standards are lower as to what that threshold should be (although my bar is pretty high). My threshold, however, is not "perfection" - I'm an 80-20 kinda guy. I think 3d4dd is correct that a game should ship with configurability or presets to provide something near flawless at some level, and I also agree that putting this label on should define a commitment from the developer to support bug fixing with the same priority as other game issues. I guess I am so used to tweaking a game for hours before I even start playing it I no longer thinks of that as an issue. @4d4dd I was not suggesting you don't report issues, I think that is essential feedback: firstly to let them know people are using 3D and secondly to help them fix it. I did the same for GRID 2 very recently - fantastic looking game but for a couple of issues, so I reported them, told them how great the game was and how happy the 3D community is with it. But then also worked (based on stuff DHR did) to fix the bonnet cam in the meantime. As an aside, if anyone has worked on COJ Gunslinger helixfix, please let me know if the game hangs everytime you Alt-Tab, it's making looking at this game almost impossible (though I only have the demo...).

Does anyone use EVGA Precision with The Helix fix? when I run it I am unable to see the onscreen display for my video cards. Works fine if the Fix is disabled. HAs anyone seen that and have a work around?

there should be an option. in afterburner it's called "custom direct3d support".

thanks to the Helix mod and Helifax widescreen fix, another 3D Surround Ready title is born:) in 3D Surround, I have to disable V-sync in-game, otherwise, the shadow would not be the right place. supersampling off, all other options maxed; got some stutter when a battle begins and ends (loading combat scenes and loading the next sequence). no biggie as my 670 SLI is so yesteryears:)

Well I figured since no one started a thread over on Capcom's forums about fixing the issue with the shadows ... I'd at least make them aware of Helix's fix. ;) [url]http://www.capcom-unity.com/remember_me/go/thread/view/140269/29965147/nvidia-3d-vision-shadow-fix?sdb=1[/url]
