The first day i tried to use a hdmi-hdmi cable together with an adaptor to change the pc side from hdmi to dvi, but it didn't work, generic non-pnp, same as you.
I got my pc to detect it correctly in the beginning using an hdmi (projector side) - dvi-d (pc side) cable, no adaptors involved, but i really don't know the reason why it stopped detecting it correctly, maybe i updated the driver, I really don't remember, it just stopped happening, now if i use that same cable its only detected as generic non-pnp, same as you.
Now I use a vga cable both sides, with a vga - dvi adaptor on the pc side and it is detected correctly.
Fyi I am usin windows 7 64 bit.
now, not really related tieh your problem but anyway i'll drop my problem.... I also have the Samsung 3D monitor and it's quite a pain in the neck to have to play around the settings in nvidia control panel when i want to switch between the monitor and the projector.
How do you guys change the output to the projector? I normally have both connected but i disable the monitor and enable the projector to use it, is there any easier way to do it?

Hrm... I have a DVI->hdmi cable and it's not detecting correctly, a DVI-vga cable, same, a couple of dvi-hdmi adapters, same, and dvi-vga adapters - nothing gets this device to show its real face to the OS
As for how to switch between the flat panel and the beamer? easiest way I have found is to go into screen resoultion and set the beamer to be my main display - a quick few mouse clicks and I'm away (when everything is working properly that is)
Another question would be if you can see the EDID information via Powerstrip - atm I can't. but it would be nice to have that info - then I could use PS to create a custom inf for my machine and that might save me having to send it in for servicing (once I get a fershlugginer RMA number from Acer that is :P )

hi, i am using the acer h5360 on windows 7 x64 ultimate using a 10 metre 24 pin dvi-d to hdmi and my os sees it as the correct pj (used to say 7071 or something similar)
i did however revert back from driver version 196.21 to 195.66 as the earlier was giving me issues seing my pj and sammy monitor as 3d capable,
try going to the beta and archived versions and getting cd 1.18a as it worked a treat for me.

If it does, what cables are you using to attain this?
I'm asking because mine is picked up as 'Generic Non-Pnp' and is having issues atm because of this
