Possible Fallout 3 3d vision fixes for sky and water.

Beta 2 is up. I made the skies higher so that taller buildings didn't seem lower than the sky.

Also, with the water settings be sure that bUseWaterLOD=0 is set in falloutprefs as toggling it appears to gets rid of water reflections.

Excellent, be sure to get the new water settings. It is amazing how great F3 is in 3d now without the sky and water problems.

So, does anyone have any feedback on beta 2? I'd like to put out the final, but I want to make sure there aren't any problems.

I'm going to install it in an hour or two when I get off of work. Looking forward to testing it out.

Come to speak of fixes: Is there by any chance a possible fix for the dynamic lightning? THAT would be marvelous, at least, because the lighting creates a very atmospheric mood.

And as soon as I find the time to play F3, I'll certainly apply the fixes for the water and the sky.

Thanks a lot for the effort!

All of the lighting options work just fine in f3.

As I started the game, the blooming around the lamps in the vault seemed not right. As I closed one I, there was bloom, as I closed the other eye, there was no bloom... It seemed, as if the blooming around the lamps was only rendered for one of the two produced image... Could that be?

I haven't noticed anything like that, I'll take a look and see if I can replicate your issue. Are you set to use hdr or bloom in the fallout 3 launcher options?
Will you be willing to take a 3d pic so I can see and troubleshoot the problem? There might be a setting I am missing.

Did you apply the fixes in your falloutprefs.ini file? Does it look like it does in my pics?

EDIT: Yeah, so bUseWaterLOD=0 needs to be set to 0.

I changed the settings to reflect that change.
Sure

I applied the fixes in both inis. I have also changed bUseWaterLOD to 0

If you look at the shore line and around the edge of the boulders. It is more noticable when you move. Similar to AA shimmer only thicker.

Yes, as I first tried the game, I set the hdr and bloom "on" in the fallout 3 launcher. At this moment, I was still in the vault, of course, and noticed this strange "behaviour" of the light/bloom around the lamps in the vault, as described above.

As I found this rather distracting, I turned off both hdr and bloom via the fallout launcher, so as I exited the vault for the world outside it, I can't judge how hdr/bloom is in the open world of fallout 3.

Out in the open, I noticed the "wrong" water reflections and the sky, as I couldn't do anything about the sky (yet! thanks to you I can change that now! *smile*), I just turned of the water reflections.

TBH, I haven't tried the game since then. Not that it isn't great, but I just got so much gaming to do with Just Cause 2, Assassins Creed and Need for Speed Shift. :-)

So, if I understand you correctly, you're saying that there is a way to play the game with bloom and hdr turned on? If true, that would be great, because those 2 options make the graphics look even more, how to say... lifelike? Impressing?

On a sidenote: Do you know this feeling, beeing afraid to play a game? To stay away from it, only because it is soooo good that if you'd play it, it would suck you in and destroy the little spare time you have like a sledgehammer destroys a watermelon? :-)

I see that there aren't really any reflections when there should be, but I don't see the shimmering.

Are your water options set like this in the launcher options?

What is weird is that I get reflections on some bodies of water and not others. Anyone else experience this in general?

My water settings are the same as yours. i guess the reflections are not apparent in this water body. I have drawn around the anomalies it is hard to see when the image is still. If it is just me getting the shimmer thingy, I wouldnt worry about it. Appart from the shimmer the water looks good. The sky looks good as well.

Do you have a save game I could use near Rivet City or something? My game is very early on.

ps How do I unattach my attachments?
