Though if it was me I'd reduce convergence when looking through. It kind of gives illusion of one eye while maintaining 3D perspective. Kind of like helixmod does gun sights. It makes sense but it kind of ruins the "feel".
Yeah, even though it makes sense theoretically, something's still not right. I've just now actually been looking through keyhole in the game, then shutting one eye and looking around my real life room. Despite both theoretically being 2d,ita a dramatically different experience. Maybe the brain is better at simulating 3d with one eye closed than when looking at a flat image. Also, with one eye closed, you still have the depth of field effect. You can look around at different objects, and things that are at different depths switch between blurry and in-focus. Try it. It goes a very long way to making what you're looking at seem 3d. And of course, that element is missing from the game's 2d keyhole image, which is why it looks so unnaturally flat. That's my theory anyway.

Maybe the brain is better at simulating 3d with one eye closed than when looking at a flat image.

I dont get any of these problems at all, fog is 3d, keyholes are 3d and I;m using latest drivers. I have almost finished the game and its been one of my best titles to date. I will take some screenshots later tonight.

Do you use only the in-game stereoscopic settings (and how do you set the sliders)? Or do you press Ctrl-T to force the Nvidia 3D as well? did you do any tweaks to disable fog or anything like that? If it's not too much trouble, could you take screenshots from the prologue (or easily accessible areas for an early game), so it'll be easy for people to compare?

Just spent 30mins trying to get the game to load with new drivers and I just get blank screen and both GPU's drop to power saving speed, tried turning 3D off as well, even ran 32bit executable. The latest drivers are clearly the problem, I cant take screenshots at all. The NIP file is here, and 3D has been brilliant - I do adjust convergence ALOT to make it more "3D", I wish i could take pics. https://db.tt/OWq8ZKHG

I have to agree with Milamber, I have zero issues with the game in 3d. Admittedly I have only played for about 30 min, but yet to see any issues. I ran the benchmark aswell and zero issue.

If helps someone....for me there is one type of fog that is 2D and is present in a very few parts...TBH after chapter 1 i never seen again. All others type of fogs are perfect for me. Some screenshots: http://photos.3dvisionlive.com/DHR/album/5316680bcb8577895b000079/ Now i'm in chapter 7 (also i do almost all secondary mission)....and i have to say the game is really great (i start to love this game)...for Example Chapter 5 in the asylum...wow...Great Chapter!!

two problems i noticed: screen space reflections are wrong unless convergence is zero. parallax occlusion mapping looks flat unless convegence is very low.

I'm really enjoying the game. I've found some more minor issues though: -flying insects: certain areas have small swarms of flying insects that fly around your face - they appear in one eye only. -birds in sky: ravens can sometimes be seen in the sky, flying around - something seems out-of-sync with their animations; my eyes go queasy when I look at some of them. -godrays: Godrays, as is sadly so often the case in many games, are incorrectly rendered. This includes the godrays that shine from under certain moveable windows. candlelights: The light of certain candles seems to be somewhat out of sync from time to time, when looked from a distance. Very minor. Overall, I haven't found anything that would stop me from playing the game (apart from the motion blur - but that got fixed). But the issues being noticed by me, kingpin1 and others are certainly starting to stack up. It'll certainly be worth fixing Thief if we get a working DX11 wrapper some day and one of our resident tech wizards feels so inclined. I would put Thief in the same category as Metro: Last Light: Very playable but with a multitude of little flaws that need to be consciously ignored once you notice them. Purists may want to wait (and pray) for a fix.

Has anyone tried it with Tridef? I'm considering if I should play it now with 3D Vision or wait and play it with Tridef with the Oculus. Do you get 60 fps in 3d easily?

Disabling stuff is super easy, and anyone can learn to do that part.

I get 60fps if I disable SSAA. Jaggies get pretty bad, even with the game's FXAA. But turning on mrhaandi's SMAA injector over the top improves that a bit. Either way, I'd hold off on playing if you can. The audio in this game is absolutely atrocious, and can really wreck immersion. An NPC standing next to you can be barely audible, while one 50 metres away will sound like he's screaming in your ear. Positional audio is sometimes broken. Crashing rain outside will abruptly vanish if you move one pixel forward, then abruptly return if you move one pixel back. Some sounds fail to trigger at all. Guards repeat the same badly written bullshit ad nauseum (each in their own seemingly randomly chosen accent). Your feet make different sounds on different surfaces, yet the guard AI completely disregards this, even though this has always been an important gameplay feature in Thief (in the past there have even been special moss arrows you used to strategically soften surfaces) They released a patch which fixed some audio issues, though apparently many still remain. It's looking decreasingly likely that they'll fix it any more, though I'm still holding out hope and waiting before I play it. Especially since I'm also holding out hope for a 3D fix. Anyone reading this, feel free to add your voice to the complaints on the official Eidos forum: http://forums.eidosgames.com/showthread.php?t=142344&page=6
Pretty sure that T4 runs with 3Dmigoto. I guess most of those things could be disabled, though by the time you've gotten rid of fog, bugs, birds, and godrays, you've gotten rid of a good chunk of the ambiance. And Thief is about nothing if not immersion. And as I mentioned above, the disgraceful mishandling of the audio has already hurt immersion enough. I've waited 5 years for this game, so I'm going to keep waiting in case there's a 3D fix one day, especially since I'm also hoping for more audio fixes. If it never gets fixed, I'll still play it of course, but for now, I'll just put it in my backlog. If I sound harsh, it's probably because I was also one of the people stung by the April Fools' Bug. I wasted a whole evening trying to pass a section in the game that wouldn't progress on account of my save game getting constantly wiped. Turns out loads of people had the same problem, and it only happened on April 1st. Whether it was a sick joke by a disgruntled Eidos employee, or just incompetent code with unfortunate timing, is not clear. Either way, it's sad to see one of my favourite ever developers make so many dumb blunders.

Man, sorry to hear about that April Fool's prank, some programmer trying to be cute. The wrapper is in a lot better shape now, but it still might not load properly on Thief 4. Thief is in the top 20 on the wishlist, so it's likely to get some attention at some point. I think you are right that disabling effects is probably not the right path here, because the ambiance is a key aspect of the game.
