Lastly, that 2x reported speed over SLI 980 is cheating/marketing (marketing==lies). As far as I can tell, that's only for the VR case, using the multiprojection single-pass technique.
I agree bo3b. NVIDIA would prove to be fools to release card that Cleans the table from all their own products.
One pass stereo appears to be a variant of the Simultaneous Multi-Projection. Instead of for side monitors, it's for each eye. Based on the description, this sounds like them modifying the projection matrix and duplicating the pixel shader calls. If that's true, then this is very much game specific, not something you can wedge in with the driver. ShaderHackers probably could, because we often need to find the projection matrix anyway. We can possibly figure out their technique and use it as a different way to fix games.
Well it would be interesting IF it could be done let alone for performance reasons. I really don't think people have tried other renderers other then 3D vision and despite what may seem like big performance drops with 3D vision the other renderers are ridiculous in comparison. Even with 3D vision and most recent card upgrade I have trouble seeing a person running 1440p@60hz-3D on a modern title let alone VR resolution/hertz. It could be NVIDIA hype talk but it would be nice. I MOSTLY run Fallout 4 at near constant 60FPS at near max@1080P in 2D. I still drop off quite a bit in some areas on a OC'D 980.

I know myself I have no control when it comes to this. So I will purchase 1080 GTX from EVGA and use there upgrade policy which is good for 90 days.

The gain in performance is very small approx. 20% at stock speeds and less than 7% if you overclock your Titan... Or am I missing something??

@joker18 I don't own a titan-z I own a titan-x which I will use in another computer. also the ti version is a month away if I purchase EVGA I would have no problem upgrading. They offer upgrade program for 90 days from date of purchase. If I can't purchase EVGA then I will wait.

Sorry - Typing mistake. If you plan to keep also the Titan X, I would also advise to wait a bit longer for a TI version or the next Titan. LE: I will definitely buy this generation. I did not decide yet if it will be 1070 or jump to 1080. Probably I will make an effort.

i´ll just buy another 980ti and SLI. gonna skip the VR untill next year. CV2 ect. not really interested as it takes too much cash to even dream of playing decent titles in VR. and as soon as the announcment of 1080 the used cards in finnish forums dropped almous 100 €euros. i bet when 1070 and 1080 are out i can get a second card @ 400€ or less.... untill 1080ti ....
