Help with LG55C6V please
  1 / 3
I just got a LG556C6V yesterday. I installed this edid mod below and managed to get 3d vision activated by the 3d wizard. The first time I did this I was able to select YCbCr444 however now the only option I have to select is RGB Full and I cannot get HDR activated together with 3d vision. I have set HMDI Ultra HD deep colour on the TV. Perhaps the EDID mod I am using is outdated? Any idea how to get HDR working and what is the colour I am meant to be using. I have trawled through the existing threads and not found an answer. Thanks in advance.

I've no firsthand experience, but I know that Joker18 says you need to label the input as "PC". If that doesn't help, I've no idea. Also verify in your owner's manual if all of the inputs support HDR and YCbCr444. Some older models did not support this on each input. I use PC mode on my LG 4K 2D Also, I'm not sure anymore, but doesn't Nvidia only support surround plus an accessory display, even with SLI?

Are you using this EDID (see https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/943900/3d-vision/search-information-about-edid-for-3dvision-on-lg-oled-4k-55ef950v-55ef9500-/post/5248436/#5248436)? It works great with my E6, including HDR. Another reference - https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/1100435/3d-vision/witcher-3-and-other-games-in-3d-without-3d-vision-can-it-be-done-what-do-i-need-/post/5998903/#5998903. Also, reduce TV’s sharpness setting to eliminate another potential ghosting source, and use 4K certified HDMI cable. By the way, I just replaced my 4960x (overclocked to 4.5 GHz). Shadow of the Tomb Raider definitely taxes both GPU AND CPU limits, and my 4960x would drop to 16-18 fps in some areas, with max graphics settings and 3840x2160 native resolution. New CPU (9900x) increased minimum frame rate to more acceptable 22 fps (using same hybrid cooled 2080Ti GPU).

On the C6, HDR doesn't work well if its on HDMI if I recall correctly This will also fix any wierd ghosting issues on moving objects if you get those

Thank you for the extremely helpful information D-Man11, whyme466 ad Muojo. I figured out it was EDID mod that was blocking HDR. When I use my monitors original EDID I can get HDR and side-by-side working on Shadow of the Tomb Raider for example and only after I enable HDR on windows 10. I am seeing a modest picture change with HDR, certainly not revolutionary. I am only able to manually select YCbCr444 but only option it gives me is limited and not full. I am using a top quality HDMI cable, 4K certified. I will try the updated EDID whyme466. Thank you. On side by side 3d at 4k and I getting smooth performance in towns in Shadow of the Tomb raider. I will check FPS and let you know. Steep learning curve I am finding. I have been wrestling with Reshade and Depth3D. What are your guys experience with it. Getting a lot of crashes in certain games like Dishonoured 2 where performance is a buttery smooth 60fps with Reshade and Depth 3d compared to 3d vision fix, however 3d drivers seem to be crashing and then my monitor is not being recognised on windows loading up again. Real pain to fix each time. Involves me having to reboot into safe mode at times or manually disabling a PCI-E lane on my motherboard to switch off SLI and using a monitor on my other 2080 Ti card. Anyway I curious to see what you guys think of Reshade and Depth3d/Superdepth 3d?v

Sorry, but I have no experience with either Depth3D or Reshade. With line-interlaced displays like C6, SBS is the worst (most resolution loss) 3D format to use - always try to use TaB or line-interlaced formats instead. Normal 3D Vision is available in Shadow of the Tomb Raider (ON option, not SBS), but you may need to first reset one setting with NVidia Inspector - refer to SotTR forum topic. SotTR discussion includes an alternative for HDR display, provided by masterotaku. SotTR’s in-game performance testing option is great for evaluating and quantifying system performance.

Absolutely - I have played a number of games with joker18's versatile EDID (3D Vision) in HDR mode, like SofTR, ReCore, Final Fantasy XV, Darksiders 3, Star Wars Battlefront II, Mass Effect Andromeda, and Monster Hunter World. Some games (like SotTR) do not need to have Windows 10 HDR mode on - but may require a special .dll, while others (like Monster Hunter World) are enabled through Windows 10 and in-game settings. By the way, HDR mode looks better in some games than others. For example, HDR mode only slightly improves the color saturation in Monster Hunter World (a great, challenging game in single player mode)...

Is it possible to get hdr and 3d vision at the same time?
You could try without the EDID if that is not working and just use 3Dmigoto to get what you want: set the alternate output to Interlaced via 3D manager or editing the ini file, and make sure you are using native resolution (4k). This is how I play 3D games in HDR. Just remember to turn off pixel shift setting if your C6 has it, as it will mess with line interlaced (or you could just turn your glasses upside down every 15 minutes lol). As for superdepth, I do use this on unfixed games with varying degrees of success. I am currently playing AC: Odyssey with it, because I couldn't play it in 2D and the HDR is amazing in this game (best implementation I have seen so far on pc). whyme466 is right, HDR is pretty hit or miss on PC. Devs will figure it out soon enough though. I can tolerate fake 3D in AC:O just because of the incredible graphics made even better with HDR, if only the gameplay was as good...but this game would be staggering in true S3D. by the way, congrats on the new/used C6!

I am not using any adapters. Turns out I incorrectly installed the old edid instead of the updated Joker EDID as I had them both the in same folder and did not realise which one was the updated version. I have gotten hdr and 3d vision working in assassins creed odyssey. I must tell you I am blown away by my experience of 3d gaming on a 4k passive 3d TV. Wow. I have been a dedicated 3d vision surround gamer since 2010 and have owned 8 monitors altogether. 4K 3d is amazing. Also I have made some progress with reshade and Depth3d and for example I am able to run Darksiders 3 with hdr and tab 3d which looks amazing. I honestly am struggling to tell the difference between stereoscopic 3d and Depth3d. I am not sure how I can post screenshots. Also performance on mainly epic settings is buttery 60 fps in darksiders 3, something which I could not achieve on a 1440p screen with 3d vision. Definitely help to bypass the cpu core bug in the 3d vision drivers. I recommend anyone with a 4k 3d to at least give dep[th3d a good try and make up their own minds. Also I cannot tell the difference visually between tab 3d and line interaced 3d with 3d vision. I am thinking of getting a second 4k 3d tv for future proofing as they are hard to come by. 55 inches seems to suit me and I like the picture quality and I am thinking that the pixel density might by more of an issue on a 65 inch screen, although I have never experienced it myself so I am just guessing. Can anyone recommend another 3D TV which they have been impressed by, screen size, hdr and 3d vision support, input lag etc?. Thanks

Doesn't fraps take stereoscopic screenshots? It's been too long since I used it, I can't remember.

I've been through almost every projector, monitor, TV, HMD, etc and nothing compares to the LG OLED for 3D in passive 4k. The only thing I can suggest is getting a 65" :) or 77" if you got the monies.
