GTA IV - Episodes from Liberty City looks good in 3D?

My Steam copy of GTA 4 works fine on my DLP HDTV. Are you sure you're using a 3D compatible resolution in GTA 4? Perhaps you accidentally changed it...IDK...
Also, Is it just me or did the new new rockstar title menu & update kill GTA4 3d entirely? Every time I play my steam version now the right lens flickers in two second pulses and left lens does not activate at all. I think it might have something to do with my DLP TV checkerboard because the checker pattern is very visible.
GTA IV is about to turn ten, so some of its music licenses are expiring https://www.kitguru.net/gaming/matthew-wilson/gta-iv-is-about-to-turn-ten-so-some-of-its-music-licenses-are-expiring/ Might want to make backups, in case the new music sucks :P

Whoa. Didn't realize that was actually a concern game developers had to worry about. Not like movies have to be re-released years later to have music changed/removed (ummm, right?). I find this even more bloody annoying because GTAIV holds a special place in my heart. I was completely blown away by it and felt like it was truly the most "next gen" defining game of it's time (even playing it again years later), despite missing certain gameplay elements from GTA:SA. The music was a big part of that, like how it became slightly distorted as you'd get out of the vehicle, or you could essentially do the equivalent of Shazam for tracks you heard (actually helped me ID a track I had been looking for months!). Would hate to load this up and it be a bastardized version of what I remember. Hopefully modders can save the day. Speaking of which, I recall not playing this game in 3D because of shadows being broken and no one knowing how to fix shadows back in the day. Hmmmmmm... Nah, game is probably DX9, and I don't care to touch any of those anymore, no matter how special it is to me.

Rockstar should be able to find the money to renew the licences though :) Only one thing would even more AWESOME - to play this old gem in 3D !!! I did fire it up recently, to take a fresh look on how bad it is in 3D, and unfortunatelly it is (still) unplayable. Also tried to install IceEnhancer with a naive hope that it could do something about car light issues :/ The good news is that, it didn't make it worse either :) I still remember the romantic evenings with Michelle, going to the theater and watching a show, and ended the evening at her place.... And what about the shows in the Telly - hillarius stuff Lol. So close to playable, I wonder why it never has been fixed? (I guess it isn't as easy as it might look) Imagine this scenario in perfect 3D - sweet dreams :)

It's supposed to happen on the 26th. They previously did the same with San Andreas. I recall them doing that, but this article states that they also downgraded the available resolutions and removed 1080P as a choice. Now, that is messed up, if there's any truth to it. https://www.kitguru.net/gaming/matthew-wilson/rockstar-downgrades-gta-san-andreas-on-pc/ Could you imagine playing Brutal Legend without it's 100 or so head banging rifts :P I'm glad I have it on GoG, awesome game btw, too bad these games aren't on GoG

You could get some decent 3d with shadows on GTAIV using the old trick of low or 0 depth and very high convergence, it's a bit stressful on the eyes but 3d can be reasonably good. Hopefully someone can make a proper 3d fix now that shaderhacking is so advanced compared to 10 years ago, this is one of those games I refused to play without real 3d, and so I'm yet to play it at all.

How is CPU performance currently? I think I remember reinstalling the game in 2013 when I had the i5 4670K and still having terrible performance in 2D (I didn't have 3D Vision yet) if I used maximum draw distance. Soon after I had to delete the game to get some space and never installed it again.

Has anyone tried a fixed exe from GameCopyWorld or somewhere else? I see that they have a beta "Live" patch, FN Microsoft garbage, no idea why it's still even in the game. Securerom and Punkbuster are also still in it, no wonder why it's not on GoG. http://gtaforums.com/topic/388658-relgtaiv-xliveless/

DeadPool was a very fun game, but is no longer on Steam. It made a short return, but was once again removed. The Spiderman games, also went bye bye

Is there an extremely tiny little chance that you will have a look at it :)
Is there an extremely tiny little chance that you will have a look at it :)
Very little, to be honest. It being DX9 is already discouraging. And seeing the base game fix (http://helixmod.blogspot.com/2012/05/grand-theft-auto-iv-by-mana84-before.html) doesn't fix shadows, and reading all those comments... What's broken? Shadows and little else?
