It's no surprise : it has been known for some time now that the HDCP chips in these displays only work at 60Hz, and do not work at 120Hz. Without HDCP hollywood says no BluRay for you.
It's not Nvidia's fault... just annoying Nvidia didn't announce it straight away when they first proudly claimed BluRay3D support for 3D vision.
Im not sure about this. There should be a way for the Nvidia drivers to convert to a checkerboard and transmit a proper 60hz signal to the tv. The upcoming mitsubishi converter box for dlps is a good example of this.

This is the reason why I wait till the tech gets into it "mature" state before investing. Stuff like this happens all the time because companies could have one stance at one moment of time and the change it later. For example, Sony PS3 and the Other OS.
I was expecting anything with the "generic" tag to get removed sooner or later.
It could be a technical issue, political issue, or economic issue.

If it works with Mit DLP it must work with Samsung DLP and clearly the table list every damn Mits DLP ever sold. NV intention of dropping 3D Blueray support of Sammies and CRT is obvious and it's not because of any technical issue. The waiting for the other shoe to drop starts now but I hope that NV will not make that wrong turn.
I wish i'd known that before I bought the damn display...
Any way of getting around it?
Yes of course... get a pirate version of the BluRay movie without copy protection and open in stereoscopic player.

I was going to get a Sammy LED DLP regardless of 3D future-proofing--and nothing has come out in the 2 years since in the 60"+ range that I would trade it for. I just wonder what other "supported" projectors will eventually be dropped. I'm going to be investing in enough of these to run 3 screens in a media room, so I don't plan on spending more than the < $800 price range a piece exactly because of Nvidia's record so far on supporting display hardware long term.

Hmm, I bought 3d vision for gaming, but thought that watching future 3d blu-ray movies would be cool as well. But now.... my 2233rz won't do it? I dont have a fancy DLP just this monitor. If thats the case I'm with BlackSharkfr, I'll be forced to download hacked 3d movies, instead of rightfully being able to buy them and view on my current setup. I'm not really mad at nvidia, I'm just confused.

I was expecting anything with the "generic" tag to get removed sooner or later.
It could be a technical issue, political issue, or economic issue.

There is no substitute for all of the amazing times I have with new technologies. In other words, the juice is worth the squeeze.
