I was hesitant to post this but I haven't had a single case of shadows or 3D suddenly breaking like I used to at random ever since I installed the evil update for Windows 7 - KB2670838. I only tried it since it apparently gets Reshade working with GTA 5. I took a leap and created a restore point and went ahead and installed it. Now I have played more than 5 hours over a couple sessions and have not had a single issue. One time the game loaded and 3D looked weird but a simple decrease/increase of depth fixed that instantly.
Definitely better!
You're the man Arioch :)
Amazing find! If other people can try that out it will be worth knowing.
Just for reference, I have that update installed on my system as well, and it might be the reason I've not seen many problems.

I don't know why people are still responding to Vulcan. And please stop quoting his long, insane rants in their entirety. It makes my scrolling finger tired.
With regards to KB2670838, is there an equivalent for Windows 8?

Should be part of the OS, no need for the KB patch. That patch essentially brings DXGI 1.2 backwards to Win7, so in theory it should already be there.

I played a couple more hours and still have not had 3D break or disable on me since I installed the update. A nice bonus to this is now I am using the SweetFX that is part of ReShade to inject SMAA into the game as well as the sharpening that really makes the details pop out in 3D. I am not using any for of AA that is in the game anymore. I still use the Max Payne 3 profile to fix the text rendering in one eye issue. Hopefully Rockstar will fix the grass rendering issue at some point so I can raise the grass setting to Ultra.
Is there an advantage to the MP3 profile over no profile?
Yes, it fixes the black text in one eye problem. Setting AFR=2 works as well.
It's not clear if there is any particular advantage to using either MP3, or GTA5 profiles.
Can anyone help me, if I alt+enter GTA 5 , in full screen a BLUE TINT breaks the game, and its constant, I got flipped out from 3D right now, so I alt entered back and forth, 3D was fixed again but the Blue tint constantly breaks the game, anyone? :)
Yes, it fixes the black text in one eye problem.
For me, no profile fixes that too. Assuming we're talking about the missing menu/ingame text?

I confirm, it works perfectly now with the evil update for Windows 7 - KB2670838. Even with reshade/sweetFX :)
