SLI + 3D Vision problems in Just Cause 2
Hi all,

I'm encoutering a very annoying bug while playing Just Cause 2 in 3D. I have SLI system so there might be a problem with 3D Vision + SLI in this game.

I can run the game perfectly without any frame rate errors. There is a random glitch though, any time through my playthrough, the game randomly freezes (game freezes but sounds continue), if I click the mouse, my gun still fires, sound still goes on, everything, but the screen freezes and everything stands still. Then I have to force quit the game and run the applicaton again.

This keeps happening everyday and this bug is very annoying. I did not trying running the game without SLI enabled as this game takes a big hit with 3D Vision enabled and I cannot afford to run it with just 1 GTX 280, If I had to do so I would have to play it in medium settings which I won't.

Besides this problem where game freezes and sound continues without any image of the game, I also had 3 lock ups while playing this game in SLI + 3D Vision that made me restart my PC. I'm pretty sure there's nothing wrong with my system as it is perfectly stable and the last hard lock I had was about a year ago using some bad ram. I've played more than 10 games with 3D Vision and SLI and never experienced a hard lock. I had some bugs while playing Metro 2033, the game has stopped working issues, but no hard lock I can say for sure.

So I would like to know from you that play this game with 3D enabled and use external SLI such as 2x GTX 280, 480, 260 etc ( Internal SLI such as GTX 295 or 9800GTX don't count) as it's not the same as external SLI.

I don't play in 2D so I don't know if its a bug related 3D Vision + SLI, or just SLI. But I think It's both together that causes this issue. Please leave your comments.

I have the latest drivers 1.23 installed and I don't think there's a patch for this game available yet. I also had the same issues in the demo version.

I had a glitch were my left eye was seeing grey but my right eye saw a clear picture. however turning motion blur off fixed this problem, as well as making a pretty big preformance increase and i'm running 2 x GTX 260 Black Edition in SLI , with eveything on High, Very High and ON, however it does get a bit choppy where there is a lot of trees, but apart from that it is smooth. so yours with 2 x GTX 280 should be alot better.

Hope it helps.

My glitch is not rendering 3D the right way, 3D works flawlessy in this game for me. My problem is: game freezes but sound continues. Sometimes I do get the message: The driver has stopped working. I think it's a driver issue, or something like that..

Thanks anyway...

Mine use to do that, but now i get a message sayin that the 3d vision transmitter (pyramid box) can run faster if conected to a 2.0 usb, even tho it is plug into a 2.0 usb.

Install the new 3D vision CD version 1.25 just came out today. Just make sure u uninstall your last driver, seems to help. hopefully that should help fix driver issues.

That's good news!! I didn't know about new drivers, I'm using 1.23. I'll definatelly update my drivers.

Anyway I think I figured out the cause of the annoying bug and the culprit is my anti virus Kaspersky.
It seems to detect the game as a keylogger and somehow it considers the application suspicious and while I'm playing sometimes makes my video driver crash. That's why I get no image but sound when this happens.
I disable the AV yesterday and was able to play the game for more than 2 hours without any issues. Today I found out a way to run the game without having to disable my AV, I just set the game mode for Kaspersky where it won't do updates or run some tasks while in full screen mode, and the most important I remove the justcause.exe file from the suspicious activities section monitored by Kaspersky IS 2010.

I sunddely found out that the cause of my issue with Just Cause 2 was related to Kaspersky somehow cause I tried to run the application as administrator and when I tried to do that my video driver crashed and my screen would go black, blinking, very weird.
I found that behavior to be very strange and I always got messages from kaspersky AV saying something about keylogger while trying to run JC2. So I thought this might have something to do with the AV so I disable it and try to run it again as administrator and it worked like a charm.
