I downloaded rocket league last night at the request of my gf. I thought it was going to not be that great of a game, but turns out it's tons of fun and very addictive. I decided to try it out in 3d before bed and to my suprise it's almost perfect. The ball has a shadow issue, but other than that I didn't see any other issues. I highly recommend!

I haven't played this one yet but I played the previous one, Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars, on PS3, and it was pretty intense. Basically it's soccer/football with vehicles but it was pretty insane at times and it was a great split-screen multiplayer game ... looks like 4everAwake also made a fix for this one. I'll definitely be picking it up once it goes on sale.

Seriously, get into it while the high intake of new people means you can still start off with other noobs. Leave it too late and you mind find the skill floor is too high, and you don't want to miss this one. It's insanely fun.

So I thought I'd give it a try since it's free to play this weekend on Steam, first I played with the kid for awhile in 2D and it was pretty much the same as Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars on PS3... the game's a ton of fun but figuring out the distance of the ball can be a bit hard at times, especially when things get frantic.
Then I fired it up in 3D... whoa, it's crazy how much adding depth to the equation changes everything. The spatial relationship it adds between your car, the ball and the stadium is just incredible and made aiming/actually making contact with the ball easier... not to mention the jumping/flying aspect of it.
In most games 3D just looks really really cool and/or it adds a layer of realism/immersion(horror) but in games like this or Grow Home[3D Platformers, Racing games, Etc] where it adds that extra layer of spatial relationship... it still blows my mind. Gimmick my arse... :)

Has anyone been able to successfully use DSR and 3D vision with this one? I swear I had it working before so I could downsample from 1080 to 720p on my w1080ST projector using CRU and it looked good. Really helps with the image quality as 720p has so many jaggies. Now I cannot even select the DSR resolutions from within the game and if I force it through the config file the game will always crash at the start when the 3D tries to enable. I have been able to downsample when I turn off 3D.

I'm not sure what could be causing the issue. Aquadome map is rendering ok for me. I currently have all graphics settings maxed out. I also tested the map using geforce drivers 376.33 and 378.49. I'll look into this further tomorrow and see if I can duplicate the problem.

...I can not gush enough about how much 3D actually adds to this title :)

FYI Epic bought the developer, not that it matters very much at this point.
But while I'm sure that Epic is greatly enjoying the feature rich infrastructure of Steam, I can only imagine that Tim Sweeny's exit orifice puckers each time Steam receives their share of a sale :P
The review bombing is once again out of control though, this is one thing Steam needs to take a hard stance on. Like banning people from commenting vs that pathetic crap that they recently introduced.
