Any fix for water in everquest 2?
Hi, I've playing lately with eq2 now that it's f2p and it's really good in s3d, however water has problems and even turning everything off, it still doesn't render properly, has anyone a solution for this?

Bump for this. Everything aside from some bottles on crafting tables and deep water bodies is awesome. The deep water oceans and such are really really bad with 3d on.

Are Stormhold and the Nektulos (sp?) forest pretty sweet in 3d? I only played for a few months a few years ago, but it was a great game and still look on utube for video of those areas.

Vanguard is pretty good in 3D aswell, but it has MAJOR issues with the UI. Basically, the entire game is rendered at really far depth so you can't see the 3D on it, and when you increase convergence, it really messes with the UI something awful, like you have to raise the convergence so much on the actual levels to see 3D or get popout, that the UI stuff just slides off to either side and you can't even see it anymore. Anyone have a fix for that? lol. Shame, cos all the NPC markers and nameplates etc are all in 3D, which a lot of games miss out, it could be really good for it if the UI didn't mess up =(

In eq2 it really is only the deep water/oceans that is eye jarringly annoying. Anything in the world that is translucent is rendered in 2d which is really weird because you see them through walls and such. If I could figure out how to make it not render translucent things I would be happy!

Shaders 3.0 made my 3d work much better aside from these two minor, but annoying, issues.

Bump I just got all upgraded, EQ2 looks amazing, any hope at all of Oceans having a workaround?

Just downloaded WOW for the heck of it, just to see what it was like. A little too on the cartoony side for me, nice art though. Kept thinking aI'd be better off getting about into Everquest 2 for a bit. It had such good graphics. Medium setting were all i could really handle and not well. Must look amazing at Very high settings.

I just downloaded the game to have a look, and all the shaders are SM1 and would need converting, AND not one single shader contains any header information. This latter point is not so drastic for VS as its quite easy to tell what the VPM is and so on, but Pixel Shaders are very difficult to understand without some guidance from the headers (I recently fixed the game "Forced" and another one using the same engine and they were the same - I could work out and fix all VS, but PS was a big "huh?"). I saw immediately that there is a character halo that should be easy to fix in VS, but did not manage to find any water areas in the few minutes I played before getting killed off all the time. Water fixes are often VS as well, or perhaps a render surface can be identified to fix that. Unless I can find some water without everyone killing me first, I won't be able to do it (don't have time to play the game).

Sounds like they don't start you off on the island anymore.

Not sure, perhaps I did not wander enough. I quickly looked at some of the haloing VS culprits, and I am sorry to say that I think the issues need fixing in PS, which I have no enthusiasm for (see earlier post). Another major problem is that there is some fog/light effect that is 2D (on the start screen where you pick your character etc) which hurts my eyes so I am not keen on playing it - disabling the effect removes a great swath of scenery with it, so that's not a good option. I'm disappointed, but I am pretty sure I will give this one a miss tbh, sorry :-(
