3D Single vs 2D Surround
Looking for opinions on which is most enjoy and worth the cost..
3D on one 27" screen (ASUS) or 2D Surround on 3 ASUS screens.

I can do either right now, but have the option of sending back the high
priced 3D screen and getting a cheaper 27" screen to do just 2D surround.

to me it's a no brainer, go for 3D. more compatibility, no annoying bezels, lower performance hit, far greater immersion factor.

I don't know, cause currently I only have one 3D(asus) screen. Going 3D is amazing I can tell you though. There is no going back!

(I'm considering to go for 3 x 3D (asus) plus 1 GTX690, myself. I´m not sure if it´s worth the investment, say 1700 Euro´s).

I have had triple display for a while and I love it, for more than just gaming too. Its nice for web surfing and multi tasking.

I just ordered a 120 HZ dlp, which after ordering I found out is not optimal for gaming in 3d. Still I think it will be nice for movies. I have used 3D some and I don't like it as much because you actually have to actively refocus your eyes. Few games have something that pops out of the screen, its mostly just depth into the screen. Secondly, in games like WoW the cursor is always in the foreground even when you are trying to click on something in the background. 3D is a cool effect and I really look forward to it, I think I enjoy my triple displays more. The bezels do suck sometimes, but you get use to it. I just overlap the monitors and it helps a lot. Secondly, no glasses to break, lose, or charge. Mostly though surround give you an advantage in online gaming because you can see whats around you better. Some games its like you have 160 degree field of view vs 90 or 110 in most other games. Several games are not compatable out of the box. I have been able to get most to work with a tweek or edit. unreal 3 engine games are the worst. You can usually flip the monitors on their side giving a 3:2 ratio making it compatable with all the games that didn't work before. The super high def is cool. I have had a problem that my 1GB ram cards dont have enough memory to push high level settings to 3 monitors. (skyrim) I would try to get at least a 2GB set of cards. The other problem I ran into is my 560 Ti are only 2 way SLI and I wanted to take it to 3 way SLI but didn't have the headers for that. Things to keep in mind when buying. The other minor problem is Nvidia doesn't support 5x1 port. either, which I just wanted to be extream. 5320x1920

ultimately, you could buy the 3D display first and then buy 2 more when you get the money, but you are going to need some serious horse power for that when it comes to GPUs.

Hope this helps.
