Can't activate stereoscopic vision in the control panel
Hi,

I just wanted to try out 3d vision (in anaglyphic(?) mode, I don't own any special hardware), but I can't even enable it in the nvidia control panel. I'm using driver version 182.08 for my 8600 GTS and downloaded (+installed) this stereoscopic driver: http://www.nvidia.com/object/stereo_3D_181.25.html (Vista Home Premium, 64bit)

When I try to check "Activate stereoscopic 3D-function"* in the control panel, the desktop becomes black first, then goes back to normal again and I get an error message displaying "Failed to create D3D Device" and Vista tells me the "stereo test application" has stopped working. The checkbox stays unchecked and I don't see any changes in games, of course.

I tried reverting to 181.22 drivers, didn't change anything. I also tried disabling my second monitor, but that didn't work any better.

I hope someone on here can help me out :)

*I'm not sure about the exact wording, in German it is "Stereoskopische 3D-Funktion aktivieren"

Hmm off the top of my head.. if I dont have the refresh rate at 100+ it wont enable? Run the setup wizard again if you have not yet?

Hm, the maximum refresh rates of my monitors are 85 and 75 Hz. Is this important in anaglyph mode?
And yeah, maybe I should have mentioned ;) When I click on the setup wizard button, nothing happens at all.

Edit: My main monitor actually supports 100Hz, Vista probably didn't detect it correctly. Still, no result.

I just installed the 182.08 stereoscopic drivers, and the error is gone!

I still don't quite get it. When I click on the checkbox, I get that test window and I can see the two squares perfectly fine and it says "Press the ESC key to exit". But when I do that, the test window closes and the checkbox is unchecked again 0o

The "Run setup wizard" button still doesn't do anything.

Same thing here. I can see the image, but when I push esc. the box won't stay checked.

I was having the same problem but i "fixed" it by editing a registerykey.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\NVIDIA Corporation\Global\Stereo3D

Now edit the value to 1 in the key in here that says StereoVisionConfirmed and you can enable the checkbox for Anaglyph.
