Alice: Madness Returns,
A classic twist to an old story. The scenery is some of the best I have seen in 3D, incredibly immersive.
I will add some 3D screenshots this in the next few hours.

Hi, every time I try to get past the player selection screen the game crashes whenever I have 3D Vision enabled, even though the game claims to support 3D Vision and the settings are there. Any ideas to solve it?
Besides, this is another title that claims to use PhysX but the visual indicator reads CPU instead of GPU, even though PhysX is configured as Auto in the NVIDIA Control Panel...

I'm glad to see someone can play this game in 3D. It seems they broke it for 3DVision users a year or more ago where I can't get past the player selection screen. To many other games to play to spend much/any time debugging it.

I too have not been able to get this to work since i think a 312 or something release. would have to look up the exact version. I had to edit the .inf file to add my Titan because the driver was before Titan release. It worked, but that one old modified driver just to run that game. This is one of my favorite 3d vision titles, and I check with every new driver release and always crashes. Also, tried Mbloof fix from other thread and it did not work either with any current drivers.
If that's the case, would torrenting an earlier version solve the issue?[/quote
Tried this as well. Wont go into detail, but tried multiple versions.
If anyone has a fix for this I would be most grateful.
Cheers

Edit: Driver version was 314.21. I successfully modified the .inf for Titan. So should be possible with any 7 series as well. Hope someone else finds a better workaround then changing to such an old driver.

Is this profile related? Sounds like the profile got screwed up somewhere along the lines especially based on xarr's message.
If so use nvidia inspector - Remove alice madness returns [alicemadnessreturns.exe] from "Alice Madness Returns" profile.
Start game and see if it launches.
If so exit. add alice madness returns to batman arkham asylum profile and launch. [95% sure that profile should be same "version"]

I think I tried this as well. Will try right now and let you guys know.
Just tested with latest beta driver and same result. Crashing before the character select screen with 3d vision enabled, no crash without. :( Generic profile.
Just tested with Batman Arkham Asylum profile and same crash as well.

Only other thing I can think of it could be in physx[long shot]. Could try the installer from one of the old drivers [like 300 series is probably safe enough].

Ill try the physx later. Thats a good idea. I know some games in the past worked. One strange thing is that if you disable Nvidiastereo=false in the engine.ini files, it launches fine. However, the shadows are broken.
Thanks for the tips.

Tried uninstalling physx. Cleaning registry. Installing old physx from driver version 314.21 and still crashes. :(
What if you wait until after the crash part, then enable 3d?
I tried that last night, disabled it automatically coming on in the registry and was going to enable it with Ctrl+T after but it locked up anyway ... it sucks because I would like to eventually replay it in 3D, if I have to I guess I'll just install older drivers. Anyone know what the most current drivers are that still worked with the game? (Edit: Anything Pre 314.07?)

You know, it's funny... I remember this problem popping up on the forum months ago, but I have never had any issues with this game even with more recent driver releases. Granted, I haven't tried the game since the last two driver updates, but I have with the ones before that, and like I said, never any issues. Weird. Makes me think there's something unique going on besides a driver issue.

I just finished the game a week or two ago using driver 306.97 whql.
It did lock up occasionally during the startup screens and a couple of times when exiting but never during the game. I got in the habit of using CTRL-T to turn off 3d during the startup screens until the main menu appeared in 3d and before exiting the game which stopped the lock ups upon exiting and had the added benefit of making my emitter work correctly on boot-up. Unfortunately, since finishing the game and installing the latest drivers using CTRL-T before exiting 3d games no longer corrects the behavior of my emitter.
