Mortal Kombat X
  1 / 8
Yes I know the game won't be out before 4/14 but since there is no other series I like as much as Mortal Kombat I need to bring this up. I remember Mortal Kombat 9 Komplete Edition being very playable in 3D even out of the box (although it later got a minor fix on the blog) I have very high hopes now for Mortal Kombat X also being playable from the start (since MK9 and MK X both using Unreal Engine 3). What are your thoughts? And even more important: In case a fix is needed for MK X. Does the series have a place in the hearts of our exceptionally gifted 3D-heroes?

This game looks amazing, but at this point I am actually more worried about the online vs Netcode than the 3d support. Not sure there are many fighting game fans in the 3d scene here I have always found it a little detrimental if you are playing competitively. I don't have much faith in NRS to get either right. Time will tell

The last Netherrealm games Mortal Kombat 9 as well as Injustice both used the Unreal Engine 3 and both worked very well in 3D even without any fix. So high hopes for 3D Vision in MK X are very well justified in my opinion. Since I exclusively play Solo I don't care for MK's multiplayer capabilities.

That's not good news, I'm afraid. Both those games had the same awful netcode. (its a port after all) At least there is hope for a 3d fix though, but if I can play others online vs matches at the quality of tekken tag or Killer Instinct then the game is practically worthless for me.

I know that High Voltage doesn't have a very stellar track record

Ahhh, I'm terrible at detecting this on the Internets.... :P This game is coming out in two days, now I know PC users aren't generally the biggest fighting game fans, but I hope someone gives this attention, since the Mk9 fix was pretty good. Game looks seriously disgustingly beautiful. (literally)

Street Fighter 4 has got over 500k sales on PC (Original release, and Ultra), MK9 sold ~700k, the old MK Komplete Kollection sold ~650k copies, Injustice ~500k, even King of Fighters XIII did almost 300k, and KoF is a far from mainstream fighting game. I don't mean to just throw statistics all over, but I know a lot of people think that PC players don't generally care for fighting games, but I just think that's totally not true. The audience is there, we just need to the games to buy. Netherrealsm output in particular tends to do pretty damn well. I've got high hopes for a 3D fix as well, and since the game is supposedly DX9 still if memory serves, it should be totally doable.

Well you just have to see the interest on this board for this game which is out tomorrow but no one particularly seems interested in it. Maybe I'm wrong and it will pick up when its released tomorrow. As for me its my most anticipated title of the year, and I am glad fighting game developers are slowly starting to notice the PC platform. Cant wait to use my modified madcats sfiv TE stick with the traditional MK layout in this game.

If it turns out to be noob friendly, I might pick it up on sale to bum around in the campaign on easy mode for a while, those fatalities would be pretty awesome in 3D.

It's almost cartoonish in how silly it is, nothing a sensible adult shouldn't be able to handle (though it's definitely not for everyone). Doesn't seem any worse than what you'd see in certain TV shows. I wouldn't let kids near it, but that's what age ratings are for.

Studies have repeatedly shown that violent video games do not have a significant impact on violent behavior for normal people. Yes, children should not be playing a game like this. And I'm sure there are many adults like yourself, who find it distasteful. But that's a personal preference. Would you also protest the violence in The Walking Dead? That can get pretty gruesome too.

Vulcan78 I seriously question this board being an appropriate medium for this sort of tirade. The actual scientific evidence for video games contributing to social decay and violence is dubious at best. But for some stupid reason continually rares its head, with people forever looking for the scapegoat for societies ills. It's tantamount to metal bands being blamed for school shootings and suicide, absolute rubbish.. Society makes entertainment, entertainment does not make society... Any reasonable person can see this franchise for what it is, over the top violence to a cartoon level that's impossible to take seriously. And anyone who takes it seriously or lets it influence them would have deep seated mental problems which would manifest regardless. It's nothing worse than you can see going to an average horror movie, and that's what the rating system is for. Banning does not work and actually highly annoys me. The only legislation that should be pushed is one of self responsibility. Now back on topic. Any one looking at fixing this game if required? Violence aside, it would be glorious in 3d. Looks like the latest driver has rated the game 'fair' hopefully this means a complete fix is on the cards Also looking forward to Tekken 7 in the near future, fighting games when done right are digital chess.

I disagree, but this isn't really the place to have this discussion. If you don't like the game, don't play it/avoid this thread.

Well, as far as I'm concerned, Vulcan78 has officially jumped into full troll-mode. I recommend that no one respond to his posts. Please do not feed the troll.
