I have prepaid Guild Wars 2, so I am autorised for the beta weekend starting friday.
I have downloaded the 13 Go of the game, and after that the "game" has launched...
But I have an error message saying that the 3D can't be initialised.
I have checked everything, but all is right :
Windows 7 64 bit is updated (8 Go ram).
GTX580 with 1.5 Go and nVidia driver latest 296.10 updated.
DirectX ok updated.
My other games rune ok in 3D Vision....
Tera (beta until this night) was OK in 3D Vision 2, and Skyrim runs ok (due to Helix !).
So I have had the idea to put in the GW2 folder the d3d9.dll created by Helix for Skyrim 3D Vision (that I use to play Skyrim in 3D Vision).
HeliX for Skyrim 3D Vision blog
...And it has solved the problem ! :)
Now the GW2 launcher runs ok, and I can launch the game, of course until the message that everything is READY/OK on my side but that the beta GW2 servers are not opened at this moment.
The image appears in S3D (with background images in the holes, as birds, stones...) and I have acces to the settings for the graphiscs and sound.
The nVidia 3D Vision Rating for Guild Wars 2 is : .... E X C E L L E N T ! ! !
(appearing in S3D on the lower right of the launcher)
So it should be nice in 3D Vision 2 :) :)
For people like me who have had experienced the 3D error message with the GW2 launcher I thing this d3d9.dll can fix their problem.
Did someone has had the same problem and find another solution ?

Ignore the nVidia rating - they stopped being reliable a while back now.
Does GW2 have its own 3D settings then? If so try the 'Hide 3D on start up' (or whatever it is called) option in the nVidia panel. See if that works.
Lord, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.

Someone who WAS in beta claimed it was near perfect for 3d vision. Unfortunately NDA would make it impossible for me to say if I am or will be in beta.
Helix's wrapper should not make a difference though tbh.

Many thanks for your answer.
With your information, I have tested the Option checked to "Hide 3D on startup" in the nVidia S3D driver.
There is no change, still the same error message. :(
(of course without the d3d9.dll).
With all other S3D games I never have had to checked this box before.

HeliX d3d9.dll makes the game to be launch for me without this error message.
I have tried to remove the d3d9.dll from its GW2 folder.

I am not as good S3D techy to understand why it runs ok with the d3d9.dll, and not without.
I just really would "understand" where is the problem with GW2 and S3D Vision... /glare.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':glare:' />

They lifted NDA. I got in just fine in 3d without doing anything.

Post some screens (High Convergence) as soon as you can!
For today updates, I had have to copy the folder of the game to another one, and launch again gw2.exe to have the last megas of download without an error.
Other people encountered the same problem, and this folder copy solution worked as well.
Still the same problem with the d3d9.ll which needs to be present in the folder to be able to launch the game in S3D Vision.
Does not really understand why that solves the intialising 3D output error.

I have played the current Beta for a few minutes now and so far I can tell the 3D Vision is perfect on this title.
I was unable to find any objects rendered in wrong depth during the short preview I've had so far.
The Separation is very high on default,
All game enviroment objects appear to render in correct depth.
Names and GUI render correctly.
Only the mouse cursor seem to render in wrong depth since its a "3D-Mouse Cursor" - or maybe its just for me.
And yes, Guild Wars 2 got its on 3D-Mode. No need to turn on the Nvidia's 3D-Vision (default: CTRL+T).
Simply go to Settings -> Graphics -> 3D-Render Mode.
Here are 8 pictures from the human male class select screen and the map from the starter area.
The map is layered so using F5 and F6 causes the markers to be displayed in the wrong place.
