Flugan back
I've enjoyed this tight Community from the early HeliX timefrrame. As a 3D afficinato of high standard it is a good Place to be. I realize some things change if you leave for a few years from what I can tell 3D Vision is doing better than ever. My biggest shortcoming was my complete lack in skills to create the 3D fixxes. Only way to impress anyone in those Days with HeliX was creating a fix and make people happy. I spent 3 weeks working on fixing Metal Gear Solid 5 The Phantom Menace with basically no progress at all. As the owner of the shared account with the game I couold watch how DarkStarSword just did his- magic. I'm still recovering but I have some secret plans of my own staying away from 3D fixing as others are great at doing that. Currently my wrappers don't work and I don't plans to fix them as we already have HeliX and 3D Migoto whichi are great. I'm quite proud of my wrapper design. Hooking instead of wrapping and you get very few lines of code to care about. When Windows 8.1 was about my wrappers worked where 3D Migoto still needed loads of fixing by bo3b to work within Windows 8.1 or even Windows 7 with the evil patch. I really thouoght I would have to resurrect the code but there is no point anymore. It can be sad to walk away from something you spent so much time with over many years. I want to be considered the brilliant 3D Migoto developer I am. The fact that I barely talked to bo3b or DarkStarSword don't remove my significant contribution that I created the assembler which is needed in most important fixes ever made. HLSL worked most of the time for PixelShader and VertexShaders but while great Chiri's HLSL solution would never work for all shaders. This is especially true when we needed to change ComputeShaders. HeliX was a bit rude in his last few posts on the forum and he basically said that Chiri's approach would never work and while true I Think HLSL was really a great choice where it was possible. Fixes have been simpler to write due to HLSL compared to assembler. I needed the assembler to wwork on my own DX11 hook dlls and was probably the hardest part of my hook dlls. I Think 90% of my code is still alive iin our assembler as the rest of the code was just a few hooks. Still remember my conversation with bo3b about Nektra in-proc hooks which was the key to get past the DirectX securrity system and cracking shader custom hash fuction was some of the key early steps. Another strange piece and I could early run the Assassin's Creed IV which was pretty much the first 3D Migoto fix by mike_69. The next major work in the hook dlls was the button code and later breaking free from my constraints of using hooks and making Battlemage work in my code. The hook dlls basically died when bo3d changed the texture hashing function due to performance. Had no will to change to HW assisted CRC hashing as that meant more moving parts. 3D Migoto is a really great piece of open source development. With timezone differences being crazy we managed not to step on each others toes. Californication, Sweden and Australia is probabbly as bad as it gets. I don't think I ever fixed what I considered to be a 3D Migoto bug. That was all the work of bo3d. Chiri picked a great naame for the Project: Migoto in japanese = Beautiful, Magnificent, Splendid Think I prefer Magnificent.

I finally desided to upgrade to 32GB ram after having the machine for 3 years. Gave me the idea to upgrade the ram in my old machine from 4GB to 8GB. Should reduce loadtimes in many games.

Rest assured, Flugan - you are considered one of the luminaries of the NV 3d scene. Don't concern yourself with troll posts and the like; your contributions have not gone unrecognized. Take care of yourself, and remember the greater perspective: things of value rarely change overnight!

I mentioned elsewhere that I finally is upgrading my RAM to 32GB and 8GB on my 10 year old machine. Looking forwards to delivery probably on monday. My Money situation is not great and I just got an email that my 449SEK sport streaming service has extended for Another month so there Went 449SEK unexpecedly that I had no intention to spend at all. It slipped my mind. I had closed all other similar services but the by far most expensive was left turned on. Things like this can happen when you have a manic episode. Bipolar disorder is not nice and shit happens. At least I get to Watch Henrik Lundquist defending the goal for New York Rangers etc. Well, well, Life goes on! Everything seems to be about Money in this World. I have tiny income but I manage fairly well still especially considering I can go on a manic spendings Spree out of nowhere. I'm currently 162876.5SEK in debt mostly student loans. The fact that I am too sick to work anywhere at all just makes me think was all that student loans Worth it. My voluntary work for the 3D Vision just shows that I can commit to a really long term project compared in school where the longest commitment was 6 month. I don't need to hand out my cv to show what I have achieved for the greater good. I have a tight budget and I understand that most people have a tight budget but I really wish there was more donations going on to the 3D Vision team and all the fixers. DHR has expressed that we have far too many freeriders with barely a single donation and he's one of the common fix producers among others. To say more I need to get the complete list of fizers and their contributions. I leave that to a future excercise.

Flugan, please save your money. You do not need 32GB of memory unless doing something memory intensive such as professionally editing videos. I see from your Steam profile that you have just invested in DIMMDrive. RAM drives do NOT really affect game load times compared to SSDs. You will not see a performance increase going from 16GB gaming to 32GB gaming, even if using DIMMDrive. You are low on funds, friend, but the memory market is insanely priced right now and it will give you no noticeable improvements - it would be a frivolous purchase. If you list your system specs, and tell us what your aim is, the very knowledgeable people here will help you upgrade something which will bring value to you.

About the GPU, wait for Volta. It can't be more than a few months away. And don't buy more RAM. 16GB is more than enough nowadays.

1. OK mate, tell us what you are hoping to accomplish with an upgrade? 2. The most cost effective thing that will instantly double your gaming fps for most games is another used 980 for SLi. 10xx series isn't a huge leap over a 980: Otherwise wait for new gen Volta, though realistically speaking, due to no real competition, and especially due to mining, it will be very expensive - no cost effectiveness there, and I doubt the majority of us will be able to afford it. 3. Have you OC'd your CPU on all cores yet?
And don't buy more RAM. 16GB is more than enough nowadays.
Yeah, pretty much. Working on native 3D Vision support for UE4 forced me to upgrade to 32GB, because compiling that monstrosity from source is a massive memory hog and failed with out of memory errors, but really the fault there was Windows 10's virtual memory subsystem didn't bother using the 50GB page file it had allocated. But for anyone else, 16GB is more then enough for many years to come.

Volta seems to be the solution. Thank you thought it would be coming soon they have spent quite some time on it. Was a bit revolted by their Titan V for $3000.

I do apologize for posting all over the place. I'm still in a very bad mental state as I just left the hospital. The mania is recccuring to a lesser degre. Yes, I'm working on a mirror site to helixmod blog. This should not be a problem as all the official information is on helixmod already. Damn lithium I can barely type shaking like a pig.
I'm still in a very bad mental state as I just left the hospital. The mania is recccuring to a lesser degre.
I had a feeling that was the probably the case. Don't worry about it man - I know what mental illnesses are like and the changed mental state is just something you have to have experienced to truly understand, and even then it can be hard to imagine one of those states when your not in it (like it's hard to imagine being depressed when you aren't, and equally as hard to imagine being fine when you are depressed - despite having been on both sides trying to imagine the other feels so alien it's weird). I don't have Bipolar, so I haven't experienced a state of Mania like you do, but I am quite familiar with changes in mental state related to Depression, so I can appreciate it from that perspective and I'm willing to give you the benefit of the doubt because of that - But I am still a little wary of what happened the last time you were around here in a period of Mania, so the post in the other thread was kind of just to remind you that there are some boundaries.

Hi Flugan. It's a cryptic request but as you'd mentioned it, check your memory banks and see if the number 350 rings a bell at all. I was only in a position to play Witcher 3 roughly three months or so ago, after I'd updated my graphics driver that enabled the previously installed 3D fix to actually work. Although many people update their graphics drivers every 4 weeks, I do it every 4 years, but nonetheless I hadn't forgotten your own work on the assembler that you'd worked so hard on and which helped enable that fix to work. That was a real collaborative effort as the result was, and still is, extraordinary. It's almost unfair that so few gamers get to see what we see in 3D stereo. Anyhow, congrats and many thanks for a job well done. ;)
