CEMU Wii U Emulator
  1 / 3
I'm sure you have all heard about this emulator, the progress is fantastic & some games are almost 100% playable. In fact super mario 3D world is working great & this would look unreal in 3D. How does one force 3D on, as I can't seem to get it to work when I launch the game?

I think the emulator is opengl which is not supported by 3D Vision.

3D Vision does support OpenGL, but it requires that the application/game builds a stereoscopic window. OpenGL differentiates the way that it handles the buffers for 2D and 3D. If Nvidia's stereoscopic drivers see a compatible window drawn, 3D will engage. See Jedi Academy or Doom BFG Edition for an example of a game that renders purely in OpenGL. The developers of CEMU would have to build the stereoscopic support into their emulator.

Anyone can get CEMU Emulator works in 3D Vision? Any OpenGL2DX wrapper that can make it works? I really want to play Xenoblade X in 3D (I completed the first Xenoblade in 3D by Dolphin and it was simply great!!!) Thanks a lot!

or perhaps Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate? Though I doubt that the emulator supports co-op/multi-player. I've only watched gameplay videos, but it looks like it would be great in 3D. Capcom needs to port it to PC :P

It's too bad CEMU is closed source. It may be a while before we have 3D support.

I could load Helifax's OpenGL wrapper once (it usually makes the emulator crash, but I haven't tried it again for months). The image was 2D and at 30fps per eye, and the glasses were enabled. Only he knows how to fix OpenGL games, but basically you have to stereoize all shaders that need it instead of having the solid base of the 3D Vision Automatic driver and a handful of issues to fix. The result would be having to do a per game fix (with maybe some shared shaders) and getting half the frames per eye. It would be better if the Cemu devs made a 3D Vision mode like the one gzdoom has.

Helifax's OpenGL wrapper reads frames sequentially to each eye and alternates between the two. For it to work properly the frame rate needs to be fairly high, otherwise the timing between the left and right eyes diverges to much and screws up the stereo. A lot of Wii U games are locked to 30fps, like Botw and Wind Waker. So you'd end up getting 15fps per eye which is unplayable.

I also wish I could play Zelda Breath of the Wild in 3D, but let's be realist for just a second. The game was released two weeks ago, we'll play it in emulation with all the bells and whistles emulation offers in a few years. In the mean time, just buy a Switch and enjoy playing the game on the go. (or on the throne if that's your thing)

It's hilarious that I find masterotaku everywhere! I originally found him on blur busters hsopping for this monitor. He also shows up randomly when I do searches for emulation type stuff on other forums. I actually have a wii u, so im going to buy breath of the wild for it. With my new pc though I really want to play it on that with something like a downscaled 4k to 1080 P. I would actually be thrileld to play the game at a locked 30 fps. Neither the wii u or switch in docked or mobile can provide even a locked 30 fps or full 1080 p resolution. Now that i upgraded my pc im also going to take a closer look at dolphin. I couldnt run a full 60 fps with metroid or donkey kong. Then again that might have been the shaders loading.

Yes, I'm everywhere :p. Here, PCSX2 forums, Dolphin forums, blurbusters forums, PPSSPP forums (rarely), reddit (with a different username because mine was taken)...
