Dabs are back to 3-4 weeks! I really dont get how delivery estimates can vary so wildly - Scan are still showing the 12th but I dont think that will stick either.

Yeah, I was about to get histerical when I realized I might not get it this weekend either. To be on the safe side I ordered (or rather, pre-ordered) from both Dabs and Scan. Overclockers are totally useless so I cancelled my pre-order with them for good. I can't blame Dabs or Scan though as long as Acer are completely incompetent. Today I called Acer's product info & support in UK, and guess what, the guy didn't have a clue about this monitor (other than the fact that it's an Acer product), nor was he able to point me in the right direction.

ACER, GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER!

Now I happen to earn my living from the data storage industry so I do have some appreciation and understanding of what it takes to ramp up a new product. But really, how much more understanding can one ask for? Are we suppose to believe/accept that Acer's assembly lines have a throughput of 5 displays a week? Once a product gets past research and pre-production phases, how much farting about does one need? If they do have some issues with these displays (although I haven't heard anything except minor colour bleed and barely noticeable blue tint), why don't they come out and say it?

If there's an Acer forum somewhere, go on there and drop subtle hints regarding supply and demand and Alienware products. That's what I did over at the eVGA forums and not too long later eVGA products started popping up around the U.K.

I gave up on Acer (for the H5360). I just went with cheaper 3D PJ for now. Another reason being that I want to wait and see if 3D Blu-Ray will work over HDMI 1.3 like all these early 3D-ready HDMI projectors have.

That must be frustrating as well, but at least you know something's on the way, as opposed to a bogus pre-order. I suppose no matter how much it snows you'll still get it before Friday, just in time for the weekend :D
Speaking of snow, I might have to delay my business trip in US which is not bad at all /smile2.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':))' />

I am tempted to jump into my car and head up to the UPS location. But the roads are still bad :(

last time I upgraded my PC I did just that! And there wasn't even a car to jump into. Bus & taxi and I finally made it :D If you're risking getting stuck though it's not worth it.
Ghosting is very mininal on this monitor. I have been using it for 3 days and all I can say is that 3DVision is an amazing technology.
Playing CODMW2 campaign using this monitor in 3D is much much better than playing it on my 30" dell2008 at 2560x1600!
I urge you to play this game with xbox controller (via pinnacle profiler) and using cheathappens cheats to allow slow motion on demand.
This allows for a cinematic replay of the game which is almost unbelievable in 3D.

Nvidia should work to help game developers use visual effects (post-processing, shadow methods etc) that are true 3D and therefore do not break the stereoscopic effect.
This is not a fad.
It is the future of gaming.
Once you see it you will agree.

Unfortunately I couldn't find such a forum (and the one you mention also doesn't seem to be the right one).

You'd be suprised who gets notified about customer feedback in forums, I think companies are starting to realize they don't have to employ market researchers and the likes when they can just set up a user to user forum and find out all the info they need from people who have RL experience of their 'stuff'. If they don't, then their missing a pretty big trick in my opinion. It's good too, as the relationship is symbiotic, users get something out of the experience aswell as companies.

Just start a thread with a title like, Buying Alienware instead of Acer due to availiability, that will get some attention, even if you don't hear about it in terms of a direct reply, odds are various employees will start recieving
/sending e-mails regarding your plight.

Atleast that's what I think,

I wanted to let you know that we have finally heard from Acer on the US availability of their GD245HQ 120Hz LCD.

Acer is letting me post here that the LCD will begin shipping in early February. I dont have an exact date since it might take a couple of weeks for e-tailers to get the products in their hubs, listed for sale online, etc.

So anyone who wants an Acer, its going to be coming really soon.

Thanks.
Is there a SKU that you know of? (for both or either versions)
