New Release 270 Drivers 270.51
  1 / 10
Hi All

Today we posted a new Release 270 Beta drivers, 270.51. You can download it here http://www.geforce.com/#/Drivers/Beta

There are some significant changes in this driver, so I wanted to over each one.

The 3D Vision Controller driver is now bundled with the GeForce driver. This has been something we have been working awhile to fix and now you are ensured to always get the 3D Vision Controller driver when you install a new GeForce driver. Note that when you upgrade to R270 GeForce driver, you must use a R270 3D Vision Controller driver, you can't use the R265 one. The installer will take care of it for you. I am creating a new Knowledge base article on this and will provide a link to it shortly.

Performance improvements for Half-Life 2 (source engine) based games when using the game's built in crosshair. This should make your gaming experience better for a lot of users.

3D Vision Window mode improvements. Lots of good things here: 1) Notebook support, 2) 3DTV Play support for HDMI 1.4 TVs, a new UI to toggle Window mode support on/off, and 4) you can now use Window mode with Aero enabled (i.e. the driver will not switch to Windows Basic theme). I think this is some really good features for lots of users

Performance improvements when using SLI/Surround for DirectX 9 applications when using 3D Vision. We have measured this increase on most DirectX 9 applications, some more than others. Note it does not benefit DirectX 10 or 11 applications

Adds support for 3D Vision Surround when using 3D Vision monitors with built-in IR emitters, such as the Acer GN245HQ and Acer HN274H

Fixed problem with 3D Vision / DLP HDTVs using SLI which caused problems with eye sychronization

Fixed problem with 3DTV Play SLI using SLI which caused problems with eye sychronization

New 3D Vision profiles. Make sure you check the game ratings here http://www.nvidia.com/object/3D_Vision_3D_Games.html

New 3D Vision devices. Check the system requirements for a full list http://www.nvidia.com/object/3D_Vision_Requirements.html
I wanted to highlight a few issues which are not in this release

Problem with brightness locked to 100% with Alienware AW2310 LCD monitors

3DTV Play checkerboard support
If you have any questions, please ask. Or if you are not seeing any of the new features or fixes listed above, please let me know.

Awesome, i love that 3D drivers are getting bundled in with the geforce, will be much less of a pain to update now.

I'm also really hoping the DA2 performance boosts for the GTX580 also will apply, at least to some degree, to my 570 as well.

Right... no profile for Two Worlds 2 or AC Brotherhood. Dead Space 2 and Rift both get "poor" rating. DA2 and Crysys 2 get "fair". Dont see how that translates into "lotta loving". I am sad....

At least you can get it installed.. I can't get it installed. I've done this before remotely without any issues but now I'm getting nothing but failures.

I am still downloading the driver, so cannot comment on installation right now. OMG Shogun 2 got "not recommended" rating! Shift 2 Unleashed is also "not recommended". I guess I will be playing good old HL2 over and over again...

can you give us a manual fine tuning for the glasses sync in order to avoid/reduce top/bottom of the screen ghosting? it's from the start of 3dvision that many users are demanding this feature, there are many variables than can affect the sync, and hundreds of pc configurations, is pure utopia to think that nobody needs to fine tune a so delicate sync, why you don't let us able to get out the best from our hardware?
Please can you give more priority to this issue for the newer driver releases?
Or please can you explain us why this hasn't been done yet?
If you think that it's a dangerous feature for the medium user you can just enable it as a registry value...
i'm sure that fine tuning my glasses will reduce also the other 2 issues like ghosting on high contrast scenes and ghosting+color problems in very bright scenes, like the purple in the sky inside the clouds
thank you

Has anyone tried Left 4 Dead with these drivers yet? Has that stuttering or frame jumping every second in 3D mode been fixed?

Also, if I install the latest drivers, do I lose all my saved 3D vision saves (convergence & depth) I made for my games and tech demos?

Hi

I specifically wrote above that we improved performance in Half-life 2 (Source engine games) for the in-game crosshair. Left4Dead is Source engine game. Yes it shjould be faster.

I second this. The 3D Glasses ghost horribly, even on a CRT at 120hz.

Hi

Ghosting is very much specific to the tuning we do in house. We dont have a simple slider we can enable since its not that easy.

We will continue to investigate what type of controls we can offer for this.

Wow Andrew huge driver update. I'm out of town right now but I will check the DLP SLI issue and the QUAD-SLI DX9 issue tmrrw and report my findings.

Is anyone having any problems installing this beta. It fails to install the 3D vision 3 driver and i have tried multiple times.
I'm running Windows 7 64bit version
Currently connected to a Samsung LED 3D tv. It just fails on the 3d vision driver installation.
