I hope NVidia supports this new 3D HMD from Sony
  1 / 7
I've seen some media buzz about this 3D HMD being released by Sony. I hope NVidia 3D Play can support it:

http://gizmodo.com/5835977/sonys-hmz+t1-is-an-awesome-oled-3dtv-that-you-wear-on-your-head

I've been waiting for an consumer 720p HMD. It should be the ultimate 3D experience.

Does anyone else want one of these badly?

Nice find, thank you for the post.

I hope so too.

With the projector on at night, the wifey finds it difficult to sleep. This would be ideal!

If it supports VGA input, then it should work even if 3D vision doesn't officially support it.

I give this a 0.05 percent chance of working. Just because.

Hi

If the HMD supports HDMI 1.4 (which I suspect it will for PS3 compatibility) we can absolutely support this with 3DTV Play. We are contacting Sony to get details so we can support it.

Hope that gives you some hope! :)

Im looking forward to this too, although i'd like to try it out first. Should be no ghosting because of the separate displays and i would guess no reduction in brightness. Adding track ir would be pretty amazing. 720p though...

46" Samsung ES7500 3DTV (checkerboard, high FOV as desktop monitor, highly recommend!) - Metro 2033 3D PNG screens - Metro LL filter realism mod - Flugan's Deus Ex:HR Depth changers - Nvidia tech support online form - Nvidia support: 1-800-797-6530

I am in the same boat. I think great 3D requires a good field of view (FOV) which can be accomplished by sitting close to a large monitor, or further away from a large projection screen. I currently have a H5360 and a 70" screen with 3D Vision. I would love to have something more compact and semi-portable.

I really think HMDs will be a big deal in the next few years. 720p is ok for now, but once they reach 1080p and include good head tracking and external cameras (for AR) they will start to take off.

Can't wait to try one of these out!

3d is all about immersion imo. These things will rock. Simply because it blocks out all light, all objects. Price is a bit high for what it is however. I will buy one regardless unless reviews say otherwise.

with the HDMI 1.4 compliance then it should support 3Dtv play with no issues. We should have no complain about the 720p resolution since the glasses will have that native resolution per eye. Only problem I see with this tech and older tech like this is even though they have two seperate screens instread of displaying both images at the same trime on each eye.. they tend to alternate it also. Not sure what the reason for that is.

This thing looks pretty awesome. OLED picture and perfect 3D /shock.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':shock:' />

Hopefully the lack of 1080p isn't too noticeable. I'll buy one for sure.

Virtual Reality is back! Please make it with HEAD TRACKING and optional/removable headphones (already have headphones).
I will buy it when there is head tracking.

o..

Says US nov/december time frame for around 600.

Its funny how US's money is worth crap now but we still get stuff on the cheap =)

@andrew
It is hdmi 1.4. However I am not certain it is 3d tv compatible out of box. Its a got a weird external processing box.

@partol
If you want headtracking you can just use this in conjunction with kinect(pc only)
