Problem running some games that should work X pattern across the screen
I am having trouble with the convergence for some games. The last two games I tried, Resident Evil 4 and Prototype, both showed a weird X shaped pattern all across the screen. I can change the convergence to have the X's come together into one image, but it only works at a specific depth, so basically I can bring only a cross section of the 3d image into focus at one time. The only way these games are playable is at the absolute minimum depth and tweaking the convergence, and at this point it's pretty much just 2d. Is this a common problem? Has anyone fixed it? Prototype is listed as Good, but this is certainly not good compatibility
I also found some other games had the same convergence problem without the X pattern. Bioshock for example. I can tune the convergence to bring part of the image into focus, but then I see double or triple objects at different depths. The compatibility guide lists this game as Good. Is this what is considered good? To me it's unplayable.
Some games work great. I've played C&C3 and Jade Empire. Both work flawlessly, which reminds me, nvidia should have a user rating system to determine which games work for most people. Then we could have many more games on the compatibility list.

Hi Al, some screen shots would aid in the diagnosis of your problems. Myself, I've played Prototype for a few hours (over a few days) and found it one of the better games for 3D Vision.

AlbertEinstein, probably the problem comes with you using Samsung 61A750 DLP RPTV as a display instead of Samsung's or Viewsonic LCD displays with 120Hz refresh rate. The profiles Nvidia is making are probably optimized for just these two displays with 22" diagonal and on bigger DLP TV's or 3D-compatible projectors they may not prove to be that good. I have only Samsung 2233RZ to use and haven't tried with other compatible hardware, so I'm just guessing here. However I was able to try 3D Vision with a 19-inch CRT at 120Hz and the same settings that looked great on the 22" Samsung LCD were not providing even close results on the CRT so I had to lower the depth a lot (2-3 times) to get good results.

Well I tried to take a screenshot, but printscreen didn't do it. I don't know how it would help anyway. It would just look all jumbled and it's not like you can put on your glasses and see the 3d image.
Anyway I thought I described the problem well. There are 3 images, sometimes in an interweaving x shaped pattern across the screen. This is not visible without the glasses, except maybe in RE4 where the x pattern is very noticeable. When I change the convergence, the positions of the 2 outside images change, either moving towards the center image or away from it depending on which way I set the convergence. Now if I bring all three images into one, it looks fine. But it only looks fine at a specific depth. The rest of the screen is not converging and it is very blurry and makes the game unplayable. I can reduce this effect by reducing the depth, thus bringing the entire picture into a narrower range of depth, but the game is only playable at the minimum depth because at this point pretty much everything is at the same depth, 2D essentially. Basically I can only bring into focus a very small depth range at one time.
I have this problem with
Bioshock
Prototype
Resident Evil 4
I have a different problem with Assassin's Creed. For some reason it doesn't even try to put it in s3d. There is no game information in the corner. None of the hotkeys do anything. It's almost like it's not a directx app, but it is.
The following games I have tested and work perfectly fine.
Tiberium Wars
Left 4 Dead
Oblivion
Fallout 3
Vampire the Masquerade
Jade Empire
KOTOR
So it's about 1/3 of the games I have tried I am having problems with. But these games are listed to be compatible.
I thought that this might be because I picked the Samsung, but I expect the Samsung ought to perform as well as the Mitsubishi's since they are both DLP's, so I was hoping someone else had experienced something similar with a Mitsubishi, at least confirming that I'm not the only person experiencing this problem or, even better, offering a solution to it. I really wanted the Mitsubishi, especially the 82 inch model, but the LED light engine sold me on the Samsung. I don't want to replace any more bulbs.

I just had the idea to run Assassin's Creed in DX9 and that worked. So now I have s3d in Assassin's Creed, just in case anyone else was having this problem.

I should say that I've fixed my problems. The main cause of my problems was that you are supposed to rename the HDMI3 input on the TV to "PC" on the Samsun DLP's. One wouldn't think this would make a difference but it does. It got rid of the ghosting in Bioshock and RE5.
The problem with prototype is that it for some reason only runs at 30Hz in 1080p. I downloaded the resolution editor and found a good resolution that works. For some reason this resolution is not in the game's video settings. I haven't had a chance to retry RE4, but it seems the X-pattern is caused by unsupported resolutions.

My specs:
2xGTX 285 SLI
Samsung 61A750 DLP RPTV
Windows 7 Ultimate x64
Latest Drivers (190.38)
Any help would be appreciated.
