Yeah its worth it IMO. Taht is if you like immersive gameplay, like exploring Skyrim vs. paying attention to your Battlefront score. But be sure to try a big screen display offering a movie theater sized FOV before you ever get rid of it. Watching 3D on a monitor IMO is like watching an epic movie on a post card vs a movie theater. IMO, you want the 2D size depth cue to match the 3D depth cue and you've got a window to a real world level of 3D that looks no different than reality other than the screen rez and current graphics tech. So, 3DTV, projector or reading glasses with a smaller monitor very close to your face. Again, IMO.

I've decided to return the 3D Vision 2 Kit I purchased from NVIDIA, as I cannot in good conscious give money to a company that has abandoned the product years ago yet are still selling it and rely on a third party (Helix) do all of the work.
I'm not writing off 3D and the work people have put into it as a whole. If perhaps I can find a used kit, or the people at Helix offer their own solution that they themselves profit from I may try it out.
Also, I am not into the idea of "hacking" my games in order to get them to work in 3D. I don't even really install mods much anymore unless they are supported by the Steam workshop. Again it comes back to a lack of official support, and it is my own fault for not looking into this before purchasing.
In the end, the lack of official support from NVIDIA is the reason for the return. Best of luck to all of you keeping 3D gaming alive. Thank you for your input.

Correct, and neither does NVIDIA.
You buyed to play 3d movies, 3d photos and 3d games. And you still can play 3d movies, 3d photos, and 3d games as the first day they started to sell it. Even better, now you can use a lot more of content than a few years ago: every day there are more 3D content available to use with nvidia 3d vision. nvidia maintain the drivers so you can use today, nvidia does not produce the content, but the content is growing daily, does not matter who is growing available content, it is growing...

You do not really what people write in this forum? There thousands of 3D vision games, and with Compatibility Mode even more and new games. No hacking included, just a little fix. Since you think it is "junk" anyways, it is your loss. Personally I had the best gaming time in my whole life with hundreds of 3D vision games and you know what you can still play those games, since nothing has changed, they even got better since modern PCs run them now ultra smooth, like a Witcher 3, a fully modded Skyrim, Metal Gear Solid, Call of Duty, Battlefront, Battlefield, and many many many more.
Seriously the price for a new kit is nothing... I am going to buy myself also a new one, just in case they won t produced anymore.

I'm not really sure why you come here to ask if not going to listen.
Nvidia is still doing driver updates. They're just not strongly (or paying) developers to implement it.
Anyways it's supported by the users better than current VR is supported by SONY, better than pretty much any Nvidia or AMD supported technology, even when they were fully supporting it.

Is it just me, or just a thread like this appear every couple of months and give everyone the feeling it's just a troll most of the time. Then you always have the odd naysayer popping in to give their two cent's or push VR.
How many years down the track is it, and 3d vision is still superior if you like playing actual AAA games. (any games for that matter that are not glorified tech demo's with some rare exceptions.)
Also do not blame Nvidia, they keep the driver working and although they could do more to push support for it via gameworks or whatever it's simply the developers themselves who do not care. (and the woefully ignorant gaming community.) It's not nvidias responsibility to program games correctly to work in 3d.
Look at the community fix blog. There's literally hundreds of games including recent titles if you can't see any games on that list you do not want to play, then yes 3dvision is probably not for you. If you can't bare to extract a zip file into your games directory then it's not for you. Honestly most of the all time greats of recent years are on there with almost flawless support.
and honestly, you owe it too yourself to at least try. This technology although "dead". (it's not) is still cutting edge when it comes to video game immersion. I literally cannot game without it.

Honestly, I cannot blame him for returning the kit and I think he did the right thing! I would not give a cent to Nvidia too for a 3D Vision kit. I regret even buying the 3D Vision Play license!
I am using a passive 3D TV to play the games in 1080p with a EDID override hack because Nvidia couldn't even release an update to support 1080p! And I would recommend anyone that want to use the community fixes to do the same and don't give a cent to Nvidia. We rely on the community and hacks and the only work Nvidia is doing (if we can say that is a work) is to keep the drivers in the same state or worse, but for how long? And for how long there will be certified monitors? They don't even fix the CPU bottleneck issue that is ridiculous!
There is clearly a big opportunity to bring support for 3D Vision to VR, so there would not be a need for a 3D Vision hardware kit, but I don't see any movements from nvidia at all to take this opportunity.

However, it's important to note that people keep saying that 3D Vision is unsupported or abandoned, and this is completely false. Of course, on the internet, people want to believe whatever they believe and are generally not interested in facts, but I still like to try to set the record straight.
Unsupported means- they don't do anything. As in, zero support. You report a bug, nothing happens, they don't care. No new games have any 3D profiles. Drivers randomly break stuff, and they never fix it. You know, as in, they don't do any work at all.
Is that what happens here? No, not at all. Every driver typically has some sort of profile that is changed for 3D Vision, they still release occasional CM profiles. If we report bugs, we get traction on them sometimes. It is absolutely untrue that we are ignored.
Maybe we can argue about the level of support not being good enough, but hell look at the forums for Shield and tell me that isn't true there too.
It's a deprecated product, not a dead product. They aren't going to make Version 3, because there isn't any money it. We all get that, it's business.
But deprecated is not dead. Every driver still includes the 3D Vision driver. It still includes bug fixes, and enhancements.
Please stop saying it is unsupported.

Perhaps the original poster would be happier with a console if he doesn't like tweaking games. 3d is not for everyone, nor are tweaks to pc games, but the reward is a fantastic gaming experience that sadly few will experience. Yes Nvidia should have done more - but what killed 3d wasn't gaming but poor quality film conversions, and trying to view 3d at a distance on tv's. Closer up on a monitor with head tracking and you get a very different gaming experience. Plus of course a lot more games that actually work than vr. What puts me off vr is the relatively poor visual quality compared to 3d, the low number of games, and the higher cost.

Not a troll friends, there is still a 1060 in my machine. I know there is a lot of talk about Russian bots and stuff but lets relax. Maybe stay off social media a few days, it actually helps with anxiety and all that.
I returned the product, I didn't open it to make the return process easier. I understand I missed out on something cool, but I don't want to get attached to something that's future is uncertain. Once again, not because I doubt the community's support for 3D but I don't see a strong future for it if it doesn't have the serious financial backing. I understand they keep the drivers updated, but I don't want to get attached to something that the industry doesn't have on their radar.
I think it is extremely admirable that there is still a strong 3D community. The thing is I work in IT and am messing with computers all day, the last thing I want to do when I come home is mess around with my games trying to get them to work the way I want them to. I purchased the product not understanding it wasn't a "plug and play" type of device that would work easily. And the PC community is correct in that once you go 60 fps you don't go back to the above poster :p
If the glasses were about half the price maybe you will see me here again. Really rubbed me the wrong way how I was marketed the product.
I love you. Don't be mad.
