Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning
  4 / 4
Since it works so great now, I decided to play with the 3d hud. I copied the 3 files as described, but did not change any values in them yet. Just adding those 3 files did not make a difference that I noticed.

Before I start changing the values, I'm the kind of person that needs to better understand what I am doing. Should the new value on all 3 files be the same (i.e. change all 3 files' .2 to .9)?

Also, does this just move the whole hud, or can changing each one to a different value do something like make the objects pop out from the hud?

Don't want to do anything with changing values until I have a better handle on this.

It appears from above conversation that changing those values may have some unintended side effects to watch out for.

Its not a big deal. If you dont like it just change it back. .2 puts it in depth a little bit while .9 will push it into depth almost to limit. Yes you must change all three. Changes to hud effects both hud and text. If you don't like it, you can change it back. Try what I included and then click revert if it doesnt look right.

Thanks for the info. I have decided to leave it be for now.

There is a game that that I follow that Helix has not listed. I am a long time follower of the Heroes of Might and Magic series. In 3d vision it has some shadows that don't look good. It is probably a problem with shadows or shaders, but neither can be turned off. They can only be set to high or low, which solves nothing.

I thought I read somewhere that Helix has a fix you can use on your own. (i.e. I could use it to try to disable the problem shaders or whatever.) I am not very experienced with this stuff, but is there such a thing? If so, could a novice like me use it to try to fix Heroes VI?

It looks so much better in 3d, except for the shadow problems. In fact, the problems are very similar to the "shadows" problems in Amalur. Also, it would be nice to move the health bars deeper, closer to the creature's depth. They are a bit distracting.

Hi all,

I have installed the last Nvidia drivers(296.10) but when i launch the game, i see "this application is not rated by nvidia, rating : unknown".
I'm very surprised because these drivers are supposed to add a 3D vision profile for Kindoms of Amlur.

Thanks for your help.
Good day.

I got that also for the last couple drivers that supposedly added a profile for this game. Nvidia probably has the wrong .exe name attached for the profile, which wouldn't be the first time this has happened. I wouldn't worry about too much - their profile wouldn't be able to fix most of the glaring 3D issues in this game anyway. Just install HeliX's fix and play it in 3D goodness that way.

Just posting to say - this game is awesome in 3D, and it's also a really fun ARPG, much underrated IMO. You just need to use the Helix fix, stick to 295.73 or older drivers, and have shadows on max. As with all 3rd person games you can get an awesome sense of depth by playing with convergence.

Another thanks to Helix for the fix /biggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Post it on here fish http://helixmod.blogspot.com/2012/02/kingdoms-of-amalur-reckoning.html .Helix doesnt really check individual threads and I am sure he appreciate positive feedback. I didnt know anything about shadows as well tbh. So used to turning them off for 3d lol. Probably left it at default. Never finished amalur. Got distracted but will go back to it.

Ok, changed shadows from high to highest and now is perfect. I can't understand why Nvidia do not include information about this kind of fixes in the driver information (provided that they can't/do not want to fix things).

For 4K EDID users, Kingdoms of Amalur appears to still have an issue displaying Quests and Destinies menu screens correctly, when using in-game resolutions higher than 1080p (for example, see http://steamcommunity.com/app/102500/discussions/0/558746994997875717/). This issue is unlikely to ever be resolved... When using 3840x2160 resolution, the Quests screen appears blank. As one solution, I set NVIDIA Control Panel/Adjust Desktop Size and Position to No scaling. Whenever I need to access the Quests screen, I must change in-game resolution to 1080p first. When finished selecting the desired quest, I must reset game resolution to 3840x2160 and restart game from Main menu screen.
