Beware from buying from dell.com
As the title says. Buying the Alienware Optx 3d screen from dell.com has been a frustrating experience so far.. i was stupid enough to buy the 3d glasses from them..

They charged my card and now tell me the glasses will arrive in two months.. and the monitor that i payed one day shipping would arrive last friday. Is Tuesday and no word from dell, their customer service is a bunch of people from india that read from scripts and can barely pronounce the word.

Dell says they shipped my monitor last thursday and fedex says they havent shipped anything, so now my screen is on Limbo.

how long will it take for a refund on the glasses and emitter. I woudl try to get a refund on them and try another source.

Bad bad luck there matey. Took me a week to get my screen off them, then a lilttle bit longer for the glasses.

But i do agree, Dells customer service needs a revamp.

If you dont end up getting your goods tho i think you can get ur credit/debit card company to pay u back then they settle it for you.

So here is the update.

I called dell and got a nice lady on the phone. She told me the Alienware screen was going to arrive at the end of next week.. and they had a shortage of the 3d vision glasses and they wouldnt have any in two months. I cancelled and ordered my glasses through nvidia.com and will get it on friday.

So if you want to buy the glasses.. but them here not at dell.com
So here is the update.



I called dell and got a nice lady on the phone. She told me the Alienware screen was going to arrive at the end of next week.. and they had a shortage of the 3d vision glasses and they wouldnt have any in two months. I cancelled and ordered my glasses through nvidia.com and will get it on friday.



So if you want to buy the glasses.. but them here not at dell.com

Thanks for sharing the info. The Alienware monitor is out-of-stock on Dell website as of now, so maybe they were already sold out when you ordered it and they just tried to keep your order in any way they can until the new shipment comes.

After reviewing some previous posts, I was inclined to buy AW because AW has a brightness of 400 cd/m2 compared with Acer's 300 cd/m2. The latter is the same as that of Samsung 2233rz, which I found too dark when using 3d glasses. But now this kind of customer service isn't very encouraging.

I just got my 3D Glasses today.. amazing how fast it was and i didnt payed for shipping.

My advice once again is buy the glasses from nvidia. A Dell representative told me the monitors where behind in their stock and it was going to take a week for them to be ready... and they were not going to charge me for shipping. I'm a nice person... so i decided to wait another week for the alienware screen.. Lets hope my patience is not in vain. I'll be back in a week or when i get the monitor.

2 weeks ago, i ordered the bundle on dell.com glasses + optx 2310. Ordered thursday night at 1:30am was on my doorstep monday with next day shipping. three days later, i decided to order two more OPTX 2310s for when fermi comes out for 3D surround. Those haven't even shipped yet. But if you order the bundle, the monitor ships immediately. I called dell and ask them why they cant ship something they clearly have in stock, and she responded with "They are packaged together in a bundle, we cant break up the bundle." To which i responded. The monitor ships seperately in an alienware box, and the glasses shipped in another brown packaged box, they arent packaged together. She then responded "They are packaged together in a bundle, we cant break up the bundle." Feeling as if to be lost in some dell time loop/vortex I said thank you for your time and hung up the phone. I am still waiting for my monitors to ship because they are "in production"

on a side note: When i placed the order they withdrew the money from my account. 3 days later is was back in my account again, then within 4-5 hours it was out again, now it's once again back in my account. Perhaps another dell loop/vortex.

The staff at dell dont really seem to have any knowledge of there products other than whats on a sheet infront of them. Although tbh they are very helpfull if you do explain it.

Finally rang up regarding my 1 dead pixel lol and the guy was saying it dosent come with a premium pannel gurantee, i then explained it says so on the website and the box and im being sent a new 1 /banana.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':banana:' />

Had <-- key word.. Dell account for years. It can be a nightmar. But craping on India for they way they speak.. just because your pissed at Dell.. no kool. In 6+ years I only had 3 people I could not understand. I am sure if you paid for one day shipping .. they would give your money back.. not the point I know..

Yet their still one of the best ..meaning you can buy and KNOW you can RETURN it!

I ordered a couple of the alienware screens 2/27 and they're still processing. Estimated delivery date is sometime towards the end of March. The bad pixel policy is what sold me mainly, difference between the alienware and the acer was less than $50 at the time. I would hope that the constant shortages of 3d capable lcd's is indicative of the demand for this technology. So I would hope game companies are starting to make sure their stuff works with 3d. At any rate, thankfully, I don't have the time to invest in gaming just yet anyway. Hopefully I will when the goods get here.
