Thanks for the heads up on the mismatched drivers Chopper.
Unfortunately I did not have much luck with these either. CS 1.6 crashed with BSOD (error with nv4_disp.dll), CS:S complete lockup after a few seconds, RS Lockdown immediate lockup and Brothers in Arms EiB played great until I died and it locked up when reloading the level. I’ve been doing this awhile so, the old drivers where uninstalled, NFR was run (several times), reboots in between and AV was off during the installation of the new drivers (with proper reboots). By the way all these games play fine with the 78.01 driver combo.
I encourage everyone that tries these drivers to post your results, good or bad in the hopes that NVIDIA looks at this forum and can use our info to help improve the drivers. If you can, please include you system info. Of course I could be completely wrong and NVIDIA may not look at this stuff, but to be honest I’m interested as well.

I think I've had more luck than most with these drivers.
Maybe it's because I don't have as many games.
However, here are the caveats:
Battlefield 2 Special Forces - separation ribbon in night scenes.
Doom 3 - Shadows Broken, lock-up on exit in if in 3d mode.
Quake 4 - Low performance (Doom 3 could be better too, but not as bad)
Klingon Academy - Booted out in 10 seconds (computer reboot!)
HOWEVER:
FEAR - WORKS GREAT! I think IQ and performance is a bit better.
BF2 Vanilla, and SF Days Scenes - GREAT!
COD2 - FANTASTIC!
Bridge Commander - Awsome
Thanks again chopper, just finished installing and Doom3 looks great so far, I'll give it a good test tonight and post back.
update: I tried
Doom3, much better then any other driver set.
Half Life2: wow great improvement
Fear: much better, just a little flicker
Combat Flight Sim3: good
BF2: best driver yet, one crash when exiting.
Comanche 4: good
Far cry: good
I think I'm sticking with the 84.12 & 82.12 for a while /thumbup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
the 84.12 is a definite no-go in Stereo3D on my 7800GS (AGP), but the 82.12 combination is a bit more stable and causes less problems than a modified 78.01 set of drivers

We are going to have to see how things unfold, but I'm gathering that the 82.12 stereo drivers work best on 6800 series cards. The 7800 series isn't doing as well.
Ohgrant appears to have a 6800GT, I'm using the 6800GS - any other 6800 users trying the drivers?

[quote name='Chopper' date='Mar 8 2006, 06:45 PM']I should have been more precise - I was just referring the the stereo driver, not the different combinations.
With the 82.12 video with 82.12 stereo - on a scale of 1 to 10, how does it compare the the 78.01 option on your 7800GS?
thanx for clarification ... /thumbup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
making a ratification in your scale is not easy, but I'd say:
Stereo on 78.01/78.01 is maybe a 2, while 82.12/82.12 could score a 4 and 84.12/82.12 gets a 0
an example would be when running NfS Most Wanted and I want to alt-tab to desktop, I get a completely black screen with my mouse cursor being the only visible item on both driver sets, but when I quit the game on 78.01, my desktop stays black while the 82.12 set of drivers brings back my desktop
further I get an instant BSOD on all driver sets when I launch the built in stereo test application
the medical test works on 78.01/78.01 and 82.12/82.12 driver sets, but when combining 84.12 gfx driver with 82.12 stereo driver, the test screen is heavily corrupted, showing lots of artifacts and the test image itself is somewhat scaled up and pushed downwards halfway out of frame
as you can imagine, this testing is a pretty awkward and time consuming procedure and therefore I'll stay on 82.12/82.12 until NV puts out a new Stereo3D driver

what kind of flickering is that ?
flickering parts of textures ?
if so, disable "fast writes" in your mainboard's BIOS and see if the problem persists
The whole scene is flickering/flashing... (1 sec. Ok, some flashes, 2 secs. Ok, some flashes, 1 Sec. Ok, some flashes - and so on); so it´s ok for a short time-period (not fixed to 1 or 2 secs.), till i get this flashes
With this problem, fast writes has no effect for me.
V-Sync is on.

First the bad news - there are no new 84.12 Stereo Drivers available.
Now the good news - According to NVIDIA, the 82.12 stereo beta will work with the 84.12 drivers.
Some more bad news - I tried the drivers, they work, but I'm still getting the same bugs that I had with 82.12.
Now, this may be my fault. Maybe I misinstalled the drivers or something - so you are going to have to test your rigs to be sure.
In particular, can you get Doom 3 to run with Shadows (I can't)?

the 84.12 is a definite no-go in Stereo3D on my 7800GS (AGP), but the 82.12 combination is a bit more stable and causes less problems than a modified 78.01 set of drivers
