Is anyone else out there playing BF2 (patch 1.4) in stereo?
I am getting BSOD errors, and I'm out of ideas.
I tried:
1. Upgrading my PSU to 500 watt (fortunately, I can return it).
2. Swapping out my RAM.
3. Testing my RAM with MEMTEST86 for two nights.
4. Upgrading, downgrading, and driver cleaning all kinds of driver mixes.
5. A little bit of prayer.
6. Changing my XFI PCI slots.
7. Fiddling with BIOS settitngs to no avail.
8. Installing and uninstalling BF2 countless times (full patch and incremental patch).
9. Deleting the temp folders, recycle bins.
10. Cleaning out the BF2 cache.
11. Ran the swirling marble HMD demo overnight.
12. I haven't crashed in BF2 without stereo yet - but I did have a couple of suspiscious incidents AFTER a stereo crash.
There errors are ALWAYS in mid game. Sometimes 10 minutes into play, sometimes 2 hours. Unpredictable.
My RIG:
EVGA 7600GT CO
Athlon 64 3200+ (Socket 754)
1.5GB RAM
XP Home SP2
92.91 Forceware (beta), 91.47 Stereo (beta).
My peak videocard temp is 82 degrees celcius in the marble demo. No artifacts or BSOD.
I never had any problems with BF2 until patch 1.4. I had the occasional crash to desktop....but a BSOD?!?!? That's serious!
As much as I'd like a solution, I'd be equally grateful if someone could tell me they are getting the same problem. I'd feel better knowing that my hardware wasn't to blame.
Is there a surefire test I can run?
The error is always the same. I have cut & pasted it below.
Thanks in advance,
Chopper

I've had a lot Blue Screen error with "nv4_disp.dll" a while back.
I think it was when I tried to OverClock to much but I can't really remember. It wasn't hardware or BF2.
Usually ended up with I couldn't boot Win so I had to format the HardDisk and install Win again.
Because of crashes I now have 2 HD, 2 Win (32 and 64bit) and an extern backup HD.
Have You updated Your bios and MotherBoard drivers?
Have You tried making an extern backup of HD, installing Win (and formatting HD) like this?:
1. Update the MB bios
2. Download new MB and GFX drivers, latest DirectX
3. Make extern Backup of HD
4. Install Win (format HD)
5. Install drivers
6. Install BF2
7. test
8. if ok copy to HD from extern HD
This should take 1 day.
PS: Maybe MicroSoft or Google can tell what the error means?
Good luck...
