Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004 and stereo Freezing of system whilst running FS2004
I am running Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004 with Beta drivers 82.12 on a 6800GS PCIE on an Athon 3800 with 1 gig of ram under XP sp2.
I appreciate it that they are beta drivers but when running in stereo mode (i.e. with 3d glasses) the screen freezes normally after a few minutes and I need to hard boot the computer (CTRL ALT DELETE does not work).
Is anyone else having the same problem and also any suggestions to prevent this from happening. I am hoping the officially released stereo drivers (when available - does anyone know roughly when this will be?) will fix this problem.
When it is working the graphics are great!
I notice that generally speaking to increase the time before the system freezes it is better to fly with small smooth control inputs.

I am running Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004 with 6600 GT, 77.77 drivers, Athlon 3200+,512MB, and 3D stereo is OK.
Have little problems (freezing after cca 2-3hours), the possible problems are: owerheating of processor or memory, low power supply. I think this is more hardware problem. Check first processor temp.
FS 2004 is in 3D great, with projector more, more more better!

Thanks for your reply.
I am glad that MSFS2004 only freezes after 2 to 3 hours in your set up. As I have a new card 6800 GS PCIE it will only work with 80.xx series drivers, so I can only use the 82.12 (beta drivers). I really hope the final release solves this problem. I am fairly certain the freezes are not due to overheating as I have checked the temperate of the chip in the graphics card and it sometimes freezes straight after going into 3D mode.
Do you ever get a lock up situation after a short time of using 3D (e.g. 15 mins).
Also, with other games I can not get them to work in 3d at all. e.g. F1 2002, X-Plane 7 + 8, MSFS2002, IL STurmovik and Lock on.
Has anyone got the above games working with driver versions 82.12 on a 6800GS PCIE. Also does anyone have any rough idea when new releases of the stereo driver be released.

I had the same problem: FS9 would start and run well for a few minutes, sometimes for 10 or fifeteen minutes, sometimes only 10 or 30 seconds. After many, many attempts at changing all sorts of parameters the problem was finally and permananty solved. :magic: I set the BIOS settings to "LOAD FAIL-SAFE DEFAULTS". The system freeze never occurred again. I didn't observe any noticable drop in the PC's performance, so I just left it at that.

I'm also having this problem with FS2004. I have a new PC and when I first loaded FS2004 I used "enable by hotkey" but the screen froze the moment I hit the hot key. When I tried "enabled", tereo worked but the screen froze after about 5 minutes. Now when I start a flight I don't get any stereo at all.
I would really like to solve this one as FS2004 was one of the reasons I bought a new PC.
My rig is Intel Pentium D 3.2 GHz; 1Gb DDR2 ram; Asus P5ND2-SLI PCI-X nvidia nForce SLI; one XFX 7900GT graphics card with DVI out and DVI-vga adaptor; WIN XP prof SP2; edimensional wired glasses.
I'm using the 91.31 drivers and haven't tried older versions yet.
Games that work perfectly so far; Call of Duty 2 (even the laser sight), Need for Speed Underground 2, Mid Town Madness 2, Colin McRae Rally 2.

System: AMD 3000+ MSI K8N Neo2 AGP with 6800GT card. Nvidia 78.01 drivers, eDimensional wireless glasses, TrackIR 3 Pro. 1 Gig dual channel RAM (Kingston 400Mhz DDR).
By the way - I can't get IL-Sturmovik to engage stereo either. Anyone have any information on this??
