Tridef Support?
  1 / 2
I've had a look, and I can't find a definitive answer. Can 3d vision owners use the tridef drivers for 3d gaming? I tried installing the trial, but couldn't get it to work. I understand there are some games that 3d vision doesn't support that can be played with it, so I'd love to get it up and running.

Yes, but you wouldn't really want to. Its pretty much intended for AMD users and not much else, the performance hit on Nvidia hardware is diabolical. You just need to make sure 3D Vision is enabled, choose the display type as a standard 120Hz display and it should do the rest.

Tried that, kept getting told it couldn't initialise or something. I can look up the exact error tonight. I have the VG278H. Just how bad is the performance hit? I have SLI 660s.

I had the same issue until I rooted around a bit. Try hitting whatever hotkey you have set to enable/disable 3D, and try a couple of different games. The performance hit was pretty awful, can't say I've actually used Tridef at a playable framerate on anything other than Crysis style 'power' 3D, using a 670.

If your display supports side by side/top and bottom then yes, if not probably not. There is a way that was explained above by cookiebiscuit but I dont think it works with DX10/11 games. I could never get it to work with them. Tridef does not support sli as well.

Do you know if the VG278H supports sbs or top/bottom over dvi? Also, would that mean I'd be halving my resolution? No SLI? Sounds like it kinda sucks for nVidia users then.

@Pirateguybrush, with an Nvidia card + dx11 games you have to use SBS or TB. Directx 120hz mode its a matter of luck if works or not with nvidia card. I starting using/testing tridef in SBS mode (i have a 3DTV so i dont have a problem) and can tell: - With Tridef using 1080p/60 SBS or TB, the performance hit its similar to 720p/60 FP with 3DTV play. - Tridef dont suppport SLI, so with 1080p Directx 120hz mode the performance hit its huge...not recommended with titles that squeeze your GPU...if you have a Nvidia TITAN maybe you can see more fps. - with dx11 games you CANT use AA features, Tridef have problems with that....good thing its with this you increase fps. - 3Dvision/3DTV Play quality (depth sense) is superior to Tridef...maybe some people think not, but if you have tested 3Dvision/3DTV play with 100% depth and increasing convergence its no way in hell that Tridef looks better....believe me. - Tridef have a lot of options, so you have to expend a lot of time in order the game runs great in 3D....and normally when you load a profile, something in the profile its change (for bad) so you have to tweak again in 3D advanced options. - Always disable autofocus...its a feature in Tridef...but sucks BIG!! depth/convergence start to change value very fast in somes parts, so its very anoying for your eyes. I waiting for Tridef to realease a profile for Bioshock Infinite (there're working on it) to install again tridef and play this game .....better play in some kind of 3D, that not playing.....not way i play BI in 2D.

@DHR If it's an LG Cinema, isn't that the passive model? Why not use line interlaced so there is less post processing, thus reducing input lag since it's the native format of passive TVs.

Yes, its Passive.....Line interlaced (With Tridef) produce some random crashes (at least for me), SBS/TB works perfect, none a single crash with Tridef....Both modes i have to press "3D" button and select the option, so its the same "job" to enable them. I dont have input lag in any 3D mode (Line Interlaced, SBS, TB or CB). I have audio over an Receiver, so any minimal input lag i noticed inmediatly (video out of sync with audio). Sadly, CB its the only mode that looks like s**t in Passive's 3DTV....so Nvidia CB option dont help me to play 1080p/60 with 3DTV play.

It was a pain in the bum, but I got it working reasonably well with AC3. I'll post a guide later on, to help anyone else work it out.

How is it? I'm playing through AC3 right now and the 2D is killing me, couldn't get Tridef to work right with it.
