Theres a big difference between the small fraction of displays that support 1080p@30fps and 1440p which is becoming mainstream resolution. That method was also used to get a lot of displays to work when that they didn't want to support due to "not paying up".
To think Nvidia doesn't want to "double" the GPU needs needed of consumer by using 3D vision @ 1440p is a bit out there tbh. I could see it as a ASUS not doing it or a failure to communicate. Realistically doubtful nvidia doesn't want 1440p 3d support.

I think pay up is the key word. I don't think for a single second Nvidia is going to do this for free. It goes against everything we know about them. And it's entirely possible Asus doesn't think it's worth paying for it. Seems like these forums are a pretty good indicator for just how niche 3D Vision is. They probably feel 99 percent of their sales are going to come from 1440p@120hz. So why cut into their insane margins by paying Nvidia to implement 1440p 3D support for it.

Well I was hoping someone else would bother but I'll do it I guess.
I haven't talked to anyone at NVIDIA in year(s) but I still have some contact information from then. Will see if they give a response. If they do I will post here, guess we will see what happens.

Well I at least got an email reply back from Andrew Fear. So, at least they are aware of it [at least now]. TBH, people need to be vocal about this or good chance it won't happen. Find ways to let ASUS know you an't buying this display if it doesn't do 1440P 3D [seriously, its $800]. Don't complain about it 3 months from now when its out when you can do something about it today.

Ok, but what if I get a Nvidia 3D kit? will this be a 'fake' 3D? And anyway, even if I tell Asus I won't get it just cuz it doesn't do 1440p 3D, they will be fine with it - I am just 1 3D gamer who's demanding NOW for 3D.
Can you ask that guy directly if Nvidia will put a 3D support for this monitor? Looks like I won't catch Asus anymore on FB or on twitter, even if I post it every day. I already asked them so many times and they gave me vague answers. It's just like '3D' is a bad word for them...Nvidia also doesn't wanna mension anything about 3D, they are just updating and put customized 3D drivers for games...
Not till I see 1440p 3D support does it matter. Tons of 144hz monitors out there but only support 60hz 3D, not 72 as an example. Not to mention everyone is disregarding important question which is ghosting which far outweighs resolution increase.
I’m not sure I’d even want a 1440p 144Hz monitor at this time.
Even with my high-end setup, It’s hard enough getting a steady 60fps in 1080p-3D in most recent AAA games (I can almost never afford the luxury of enabling supersampling, as much as I’d love to, as it plummets most games below 60fps). I'm already tempted to lower the resolution on my 1080p sometimes just so I can have proper antialiasing.
Trying to maintain a steady 72fps in 1440p would require even more graphical compromises.
For me, the sweet spot is silky smooth framerate on maxxed out graphics, and that looks to remain as elusive as ever, especially as next-gen games start arriving.

Well, I guess it depends. TBH, I don't think most people who think they can run that high of resolution actually can.
TBH, if I was a monitor user which I may be sooner or later since I am impatient about projectors. I would still use projector for some games however.
Anywho, to be honest we are going into DX11 era which kind of mean a lot less of nvidia inspector/aa overrides not to mention that we are getting more and more console ports where some extra resolution is a nice perk.
I would also settle for 100fps[100hz cap] if I was using 1440P but thats me. Even trying to maintain 120hz sounds expensive and too much of a headache. Im not really picky about 60fps[3D], frame drops/stuttering however are nasty.
Some people care less about frame rate/ frame drops though. There are people with surround with nearly half your rig. I guess it depends what a person is willing to trade.

Yeah, I would totally prefer a steady 50fps than a jumpy 50-60 or 50-70. In fact, I used to use dxtory to force 50fps in some games.
Is there any likelihood we’ll ever get proper antialiasing back in DX11 games? It seems crazy that most games nowadays force you to choose between the brute overkill of SSAA or FXAA (which I quite like, but is almost never enough on its own). Is it really that hard to implement non-post-processing AA into a DX11 game?

Sponsored games = SSAA [as of last couple years at least] / FXAA .I guess they want you to "want" SSAA by making you only have a shitty alternative]
Non-sponsored = Do whatever they want. Which means FXAA usually or nothing at all. Though they can offer good AA.
I suppose we will always at least have sweetfx/injectsmaa. But nvidia inspector will be a relic. Its not really my "field", I know next to nothing about about how a person finds flags/figures out which AA works but I've seen it comming to an end for a long time.

There are a "few" DX11 games but almost all says must force DX9. People don't care as much nowadays to be honest. With high resolution displays + can downsample resolutions pretty easily. Future is all about resolution it seems.

So is MSAA possible with DX11 games at all? Why has it all but disappeared in recent years?
It makes sense that people are remembering resolution again. Everyone was obsessed with it in the 90s and early 2000s, and then resolutinos sort of stagnated for the most part, while monitors and TVs kept getting bigger. As a result, the pixel density of the average gamer rig has been getting progressively worse for years. And it's no longer something people can ignore when their iphones and Android screens are so much better.
But resolution will never do as much for visual quality as good AA. Time-based pixel creep will always be visible.

I "think" it depends on how game is coded, I remember reading something about deferred rendering.
