Currently what is the best 3D monitor available in the market?
2 / 5
1080p projector would normally be better than 720p, but HDMI constraints make it impossible to game at 1080p@120Hz. You are stuck at 24Hz for 1080p which is good for movies, but not so much for gaming. Manufacturers have so far been too stupid to offer DVI connection for projector.
I use a 720p Acer H5360, and resolution has never been a problem with it, because in 3D you are getting twice the number of pixels, so 1280x2x720. Acer is not a short-throw monitor though, space constraints might be hard.

If you are also interested in Blu-Ray, someone else might recommend a 1080 projector for that. (Would still work in 720p@120Hz)

My 2 cents, the VG278H is great for single or surround, I still have them for my primary PC. Make sure you check out the few tweaks on contrast and review at

I tried the Big Mitsubishi/Checkerboard DLP TV, but for the life of me couldn't get the the cropping fixed so returned it and got a 80" Sharp 3dtv. Since I can't handle 24hz, and the Sharp glasses, I've played about 3 hours on it... Still sucks at 120hz/720p imho.
I did have an Acer H5360 and sad I gave it away, as it was incredible for the immersion aspect. I even built a simulated race car with logitech equipment. It was, to repeat myself, incredible. 120" ++ screen. Recently told my wife we now have to move because I need a bigger room so I can get a projector again... Probably 6-8 months...
Here's a good site too to check on the throw, lumins, etc. for projectors. The Acer calculations I used here were within an inch of placement of the projector.

If I could only have 1?, I'd do projector.
Have fun!

I'll get there eqzitara/bo3b, fyi I'm 53, my first pc was a tandy 1000... Not much time for focused attention these days, maybe when i'm 60! I rely on you guys!, and appreciate it.
@bo3b, fortunately my wife says better this than a motorcycle...where can I get that? ;-)

Wouldn't it be sweet in Nvidia included mosaic and Nvidia Nview with GTX drivers instead of it being Quadro exclusive.
Be sure to look at the pdf that's linked and the simulators shown.

3rd party warpalization and edge blending software is pretty expensive

Yes, but Xinerama is a different thing. I have my monitors running in mosaic mode under linux, and stereo 3D works in both window and fullscreen (IF you make your app using some other tweaks and such)
I did find however an app that tries to emulate quad buffering for every app. However until now only glxgears - stereo is working properly. The app that I am working on, doesn't even start in that mode:)) funny since it works perfectly in 2D mode and stereo 3D under Windows but well, driver support says it all;))

I know your kind of well off. Have you considered 3 projectors surround? That sounds godly.
