I ordered Coraline in 720p. Wasn't very impressed with the quality. While the 3d effects work rather well I found them to be very tiring for the eyes. I guess it's because you are watching a 2d Blu-Ray rip with one eye and a crappy color reconstruction of an anaglyph image with the other. Another big issue is the video compression. For starters, a single layer DVD isn't sufficient for 100+ minutes worth of stereoscopic 720p video anyway, yet Coraline even came with multiple separate language tracks while still leaving more than a gigabyte worth of unused disc space. The sheer amount of video artifacts (macro blocking in particular) reminded me of really crappy early DVDs.
Bottomline: I'll stick with my 2d Blu-Ray until a proper 3d version comes out. (Coraline works just fine in 2d anyway)
yes, coraline is a great movie, 2D or 3D...saw it at the theater feb 2009...it's even grown on me more since then.
