3D vision broken (at least for me) on latest GTX970 drivers
  1 / 2
I am using 361.43 drivers for my 4Gb Gigabtye GTX970 G1 Gaming and tried 3d for the first time since updating. All starts up O.K. for a few seconds and then I get switching from 3D to double vision 2D, but the IR receiver stays on the whole time. This is an instant eye strain issue. Has anyone else with GTX970, 3D vision and these drivers got this issue or could something else have buggered everything up. EDIT: I have tried re-installing same drivers (After DDU) and tried 3D before restoring inspector profiles. No Dice I also went back into BIOS and disabled CPU virtualization and rebooted and tried 3D vision. No Dice I am about to revert drivers to see if that helps, if it does the culprit is the drivers. If not it is my windows, which means a clean reinstall of windows (and hours backing up c: Drive followed by days of reinstalling everything again) EDIT 2: I reverted to the previous driver (Which worked perfectly last time) and the problem still persists. Windows must be to blame. ****!!!! Does this mean wiping my C: drive, doing a clean reinstall of Windows and spending the next week reinstalling everything again? If DDU doesn't do it and it's happening on the old driver, it's either your windows, or your hardware. Assuming you don't have another emitter/glasses to test with, a reinstall might be the next step. Or if you take backups, you could revert back to when it did work.

So everything was working perfectly, then you switched to 361.43 and this happened?

Also is this happening in a particular game? Or does this have to do with the setup wizard?

I had not used 3d foe a while (3D blu-Ray on PowerDVD 15 Ultra) but then it was previous drivers. I tried to run a game in 3D to be confronted with this issue. I tried 3D blu-ray and several games and even the 3D test from control panel. After rebooting in safe mode, using latest version of DDU and rebooting and reinstalling drivers as clean install, rebooting again and setting up 3D this issue even happens in the 3D setup wizard. I use an ASUS VG278 monitor at 120Hz via DVI cable and have never had this issue before now. and I can not find anything on google about others getting this issue. The IR receiver is built into the top of the monitor and it keeps going from 3D to 2D double vision and the IR light stays on all the time. I tried cleaning my PC with Ccleaner (Registry and apps) and using Microsoft Fixit, no dice. Malwarebytes Pro (scan in safe mode) noted no malware nor did my AV scan (Also in safe mode).

Since it has a built in emitter, try unplugging the monitor to reset it, wait a minute or two before plugging it back in. Also double check the cable connections.

I think I may be onto the problem. either my glasses are failing or my IR receiver is failing. If I put my face 10" from the screen dead on and not move it seems fine. If I move my head left or right it goes 2D and stays that way until I go back dead center. If I sit upright (then about 15-18" from the screen) it goes 2D, 3dD, 2D, 3D etc and kills my eyes. I hope it is the glasses and not the monitor as it is cheaper to spend $250.00 on a new set of glasses than nearly $1,000.00 on a new 3D monitor that's also 3D vision ready I cleaned both the IR receiver and the area between the lenses that picks up the signal with isopropyl Alcohol and no change, so it is not to do with dirt obstruction. ****ed off beyond belief.

I'm using a VG278HE on driver 361.43 without any issues with an external emitter. Being that yours is internal, I'm not sure if it works the same way. But for me, when I run the wizard, it gives me three options for emitter signal strength. Make sure you are picking the strongest one. If it's not an option, see if your monitor has signal strength option in the menu.

It's obviously a hardware problem. All 3 IR settings have the same issue. As soon as I sit upright it cuts in and out, with the IR light staying on, and if I move left or right it cuts out until I center my view and have my face almost against the screen. Either my glasses are dying or my monitor is ****ed (at least the 3D functionality is) and I can't afford another 3D monitor, the glasses are expensive enough. Knowing my luck I pay for more glasses only to find out I need a new 3D monitor. At least if My monitor used an external IR receiver it would be a cheaper fix. DAMN!!!!!!

So have you tried unplugging the monitor? If the emitter is failing, you can get an external one from e-bay. Also, are the glasses fully charged? If the light is blinking red on them, they are low.

Can confirm what D-Man said, you can just buy a replacement USB emitter/glasses and that should work. It's still an expensive pain in the bum, but it's cheaper than a monitor.

the only electronic device I can think of is my router (ASUS RT-AC68U) but I was playing 3D with that router for some time without issues. I unplugged the monitor from both the DVI and the power and reconnected 5 mins later and no dice. If I got an external emitter would that interfere with the internal emitter as it stays on?
