Why the wait for Europeans
  1 / 3
As the title asks, why exactly is there such a long wait for the availiablity of this product for the European market?

I am very disappointed that we have no official word on this and that it's all simply hearsay until it launches but come on, don't you think your fans deserve some kind of official response here? I can't find anything on the main NV UK site, when I last spoke to PR I was told first two weeks in April, now we hear it's not until the end of May. That is some delay between the US launch and the European launch and I am starting to fear that there are some issues that we aren't being made aware of and it's not to do with the monitor partners.

Has there been some technical issue cropped up that we should be made aware of?

Quote. In Italy it is the same. It is very frustrating to read about it on italian magazines or sites and then being limited to read of people having it in other countries.

We have Berlusconi, that's really a big pity. Not being able to own S3D is really too much.

P.S BTW i bougth a new video card a month ago, switching from ATI. Don't let me regret this...

Sry about that crazy priminister

it's the same with Samsung and Mitsubitsi 3D ready HDTV's.
It's crazy. Europeans can only read about it, not try and buy.
Would be nice to hear from Nvidia why?

lmao xD

Anyway, here in Holland a salesman told me in March 4-5 weeks after Cebit. But I haven't heard a thing since.

Maybe they are trying to fix the ghosting problem before entering the European market? Or is that wishful thinking?

OK, now go and find out who the resellers are because as I found out yesterday Nvidia haven't made that decision yet. If the supply chain don't know who they are they aren't going to be shipping any time soon, certainly not in the first quarter of April (which incidently is today\tomorrow).

Unless of course the moderator actually meant 1st quarter April 2010 (which at this rate it could be).

As I said, i talked personally with Luciano Bellerano, Nvidia PR manager for Europe, He told me that because of some 'commercial issue' 3D vision WON'T be released before the end of may.

I've been holding off saying this for some time, but I regularly attend the webinars for nvidia stock holders and the reason they're not releasing this product outside of USA right now is (from my understanding) this:

There is too much on their plate to financially commit themselves to another launch. Q3 and Q4 of 2007 NVDA stock was worth nearly $40 a share. Check it against it's $10 current holding value (it was almost $7 a couple months ago). When you consider the HUGE upcoming launch of tegra and ion, plus it's -possible- entry into the x86 CPU market, we've got a tremendous analogous skyscraper on top of a flimsy foundation. Doing too much at once could lead to financial collapse, and we DO NOT want that.

I hope everyone will take into consideration the market we are living in at this time before bashing the companies who provide these magical devices that take us to different (virtual) worlds.

Then my question would be... why launch it in the first place? You don't launch a product and limit it's availability because that just angers the end user.
My next question would be... why carry on launching rehashed video cards under new names?
My final question would be... why are you obviously biting off more than you can chew, if you know you can't deliver on promises don't promise.

The end user really doesn't care about why the business is running it that way, all they care about is the product, if they can see the product has been launched else where in the world they will want to get their hands on it as well. All of the previous Nvidia products have been available around the world at the same time (GTX295, GTX275 etc) yet this isn't.

You ask us to take into consideration the market we are living in at the moment, I am living in the market where Nvidia are releasing new products worldwide, even now (with the new 275) but still fail to launch properly the 3D Vision product that was promised by Cebit (and I am now really starting to get annoyed that I didn't purchase in the US when I was over there).

I love Nvidia products (having gone through the family) but this really isn't fair to us that aren't able to purchase the products in their home countries. Worse still being the fact that we aren't getting official updates from Nvidia.

Haha if you're just as impatient as me, do the same as me:

I just ordered 3d Vision glasses via eBay. Brand new, incl. shipping costs to the Netherlands (within 2 days), $240 (Had to pay 187 euro)
The monitors are already available here in Holland. So I ordered one for 300 euro incl. shipping costs (within 2 weeks).
Costed me 487 euro, but hey, now I don't have to wait until May :)

When it arrives I will post a comparison between Zalman 22" 3d monitor and Samsung 2233RZ + 3d Vision Glasses.

(Edit: The monitor was 300 euro, not 400. Delivery will be in two weeks though, not 3 days)

I don't agree. Maybe There is too much on their plate to financially commit themselves to another PROJECT (something new), but I can't see the risks of releasing in Europe a product they're already selling in the States, evidently having all production sites needed and Samsung partnership for 2233RZ supply. Moreover, to face the market disease they should stimulate the market, not bound it. Of course I 'm not a economist and I'm explaining my bare point of view..But i feel more probable a lack of agreement with European counterparts (distributor, selling partner or whatever)

Not if the companies' PR are releasing lots of interviews around the world publicizing these magic devices, thus investing money to promote them.

Was it an auction? I can find only a reseller on ebay who sells them for 245€ plus shipping costs.
Or anyone with experience ordering at tigerdirect?
I would love to hear an official announcement about the release in europe/germany. So I can decide to order the glasses in the US.

[quote name='Sjonnie' post='527891' date='Apr 8 2009, 02:35 PM']Haha if you're just as impatient as me, do the same as me:

I just ordered 3d Vision glasses via eBay. Brand new, incl. shipping costs to the Netherlands (within 2 days), $240 (Had to pay 187 euro)

Was it an auction? I can find only a reseller on ebay who sells them for 245€ plus shipping costs.

Or anyone with experience ordering at tigerdirect?

It was a "Buy it now" item. Maybe he doesn't sell it anymore, since I can't find the glasses from the same seller anymore.

I haven't got any experience with tigerdirect, but I think they only sell the glasses in the USA.

Good luck
