Setting up non-supported projector
Hi

I've managed to get myself a Dell S300 PJ 2nd hand for £50. I know this technically isn't supported but it is 120Hz 3D ready and i'll use it for other purposes if it I can't get it to work with 3D Vision. My Q is what would be the best way to set it up? I thought remove the EDID pins from a DVI>VGA adapter and install it as a Generic Monitor then set up 3DV to "Generic CRT". Would this seem light the most likely way to get it working or can anyone recommend another way?

Thanks!

Yes this would be the right way to go about it.
Also try and add custom resolution, look for the post of the how to setup the Optoma HD66 and follow it. There is a monitor.inf file a user has created and is attached in the topic.
Yep good luck, great price if you get it all working.

mforbes6186,

Great you have the s300. I have successfully setup the depthQ and the samsung 22" LCD, so I may be of some assistance. Please let me know where you are in the process of setting it up.

I am on gmail and willing to chat you through what i know if you would like.

Thanks.

Thanks for the replies!

I should hopefully have this before the end of the week along with my copy of Monsters Vs Aliens so I will keep everyone up to date. On the topic of having to wear the glasses upside down, from what I can see in the manual there is an option to invert the 3D sync so hopefully this may be a way round it. Not a huge issue if I do have to though!

On a side note, can anyone advise if there is a maximum number of glasses that can sync with one 3d vision emitter? i'm guessing no but just wanted to check!

Thanks

I have used 2 pair. I would see no limit as long as they can receive the IR signal.

It's not a big deal wearing the glasses upside down but we shouldn't have to!
I don't accept this quality of things just because it is how it is, and other users shouldn't also.
I know you will be happy just because it is working using them upside down but it is ridiculous, they aren't as comfortable as wearing the correct way up.

I would have happily gone the authorized screen route but I live in a country where these products are not available I'm looking at you Acer H5360, the HD66 was sold here via one outlet where I could go pick it up instead of risking an overseas purchase. I think some users forget some of us have some restrictions on we can and can't get but why should we miss out on 3D goodness :)

And I forgot to say, yes I also have the invert function for 3D on my projector as I did when I had the viewsonic 3D projector. This is useless as tits on a bull and is only utilized if you are using DLP LINK 3D, you will see what I mean. There is 2 options on both these projectors that I seen Turn 3D on and off and also 3D invert, neither do squat when using Nvidia 3d vision via 120hz out to the projector.

I think the limiting factor will be the emitter and its angle of operation and how many people you can fit in that angle. There should be no limit other than that. No information is being passed back the the PC. Its one way communication from the PC to the glasses and its broadcast, so the PC would not care how many glasses. It just that all the glasses need line of sight to the emitter, that's the limiting factor

Hi,

Is there any way to set up an Acer H5360 as an generic crt using custom resolutions? I'm asking because my projector is not detected with VGA cable, and never has been. None of the Nvidia drivers have fixed this. And none of the HDMI cables I've tried have worked at 120Hz. I even bought an HDMI 1.4 standard cable, so I'm pretty sure it's not a cable issue...

Nowadays it gets detected as a generic CRT using the VGA cable, but I'm unable to select the right resolution from the Stereoscopic menu in Nvidia Control Panel (since it isn't there). I can add a custom resolution for the display in the change resolution page, but it has no effect on the Stereosocpic menu's available resolutions.

So basically, I have a Nvidia 3D certified projector, but can't use it in 3D mode at all.

Could there be some variable with the VGA cable causing my Acer not getting detected?

Hmm could this be because the pin 9 is not connected in my VGA cable?

There seems to be some information about this on: http://www.mtbs3d.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?...67&start=15

Would it work if I provided 5V of power to the pin9 externally?
