A big Thanks to you for posting the driver issue in the feedback thread and for providing the necessary information that they need to get it resolved. Your one of the few that I ever see posting over there. But I imagine most are like me and do not have any issues, being that I'm using a single GPU and no surround. Plus I haven't really been playing any newer games.

On Win7 everything works perfectly though...) Maybe we should add the 3DTVPlay resolution limitation in their driver feedback as a request/feature as those pages are read by them, but here less so... (or any other requests & feedback for that matter:))

I already did just that prior to making this thread :) post #11
Please add SbS, TnB and Line Interleaved to 3DTV Play and also remove the 24Hz restriction at 1080P. It's a middleware for Stereoscopic gaming, not Video playback middleware like PowerDVD. Also 4K/HDMI 2.0 support needs added to 3DTV Play. TriDef offers all this, but we want to use Nvididia's stereoscopic drivers with 3D Vision community fixes. For posters not aware, check at the stereoscopic compatibility fixes at http://helixmod.blogspot.com/2013/10/game-list-automatically-updated.html
mathieulh said:Here is a copy of the e-mail I have just sent to Jen-Hsun Huang:

Dear Jen-Hsun,

I am writing this e-mail to you as communicating through Nvidia's costumer support has been a dead end.

Currently, the 3DTV Play feature is stuck to the severely outdated HDMI 1.3 standard has been established in 2010 and take into account its bandwidth limitation, it is however currently year 2016 and the current HDMI standard (2.0a) allows for a bandwidth of 18Gbps (which is higher than what DisplayPort 1.2 allows)

I and many more people own a 4K UHD Active 3D TV display capable of SBS and TB 3D at a resolution of 1920x2160 per eye; yet the 3DTV play software even though connected using hdmi 2.0 is limited to 720p@60fps (which is awful on UHD displays) or 1080p@24fps

Right now 3DTV Play is limited to frame sequencing and checkerboard, checkerboard is not supported by any current display technology (the protocol being way too old)

The HDMI standard is 2.0 has more than enough bandwidth to get 3D at much higher resolution
in fact, the competition, through Tridef 3D handles 1920x2160 3D per eye perfectly fine

3DTV play (through an outdated software limitation) is limited to pretty much nowadays unplayable standards
1080p@24hz is unplayable because of the extreme input lag it induces while 720p@60hz looks awful due to the extremely poor resolution on a 4k panel (we are talking about sizes usually above 50 inches)

These limitations were due to the limitations of the hdmi 1.4 standard, the hdmi 2.0 standard allows enough bandwidth for a resolution of 4096x2160 at 60fps with full 4:4:4 chroma (on a 2D single image), which is more than enough for 3D at high resolution

I am not the only one complaining about this, this has been an ever growing issue:

It's not a burden. If it's not his reponsibility he'll pass it on to whoevers it is. We should make an effort to all post in the new driver feedback threads to REMOVE THE 3DTV PLAY RESOLUTION LIMIT. Not some massive essay about the technical know how. I'm sure they know all ready! Just a simple message constantly repeated. It's the best chance we have. Everyone should also email Jen-Hsun Huang after every driver update with the same message until it's fixed. In fact I'm going to do it right now. It's just so frustrating that we give them this money, they have this amazing tech and they cripple through complacency and ignorance. It's sacrilege, especially when your own customers are fixing the games but they can't even keep their software up to date. I understand that they might have had deals with 3D vision monitor manufacturers but as these new monitors coming out don't have 3D these days, this no longer applies. We also have the bandwidth now too! They're ran out of excuses and now it's time for action. We've been asking for years!

The burden I was referring to, is that it looks like Nvidia has him in charge of their Shield TV section. I'd really like to see a post like this in the 3D Vision sub-forum Posted 10/06/2015
You spoke. We listened and responded. With SHIELD Android TV Software Upgrade 2.0, we added the most requested features by SHIELD Android TV customers. We wish to continue making the SHIELD Android TV the device you love to use and with that we hope you’ll continue sharing your valuable feedback with us. Please use this thread to send us your feedback. If you see your request already mentioned by another user, we would still appreciate hearing your feedback on this topic. The more votes we see for a particular feature, the more likely you will see this implemented in a future software update. Please note this thread is not intended for submitting bugs.
