What is Compatibility Mode?
Oh, one more question: can you change depth in movies like you can with games?
Yes you can change depth using video player built-in function, but i strongly not recommend you to do so =). Basicly movie have no any data for correct calculation depth changing - all this actions made by software. Results are not acceptable really. The best depth for movie is default depth. Additionally i must admit that 3D movies are far far and so far from games supporting real 3D stereo. It's like a wooden soldier and cool metal transformer - both are toys you can play with, but they are really different

You might try Trine 1 and 2, they are great in 3D and currently on sale at Steam. Tomb Raider 2013 is usually available cheap somewhere and is great in 3D. Those are just a few. as I posted earlier check http://helixmod.blogspot.com/2013/10/game-list-automatically-updated.html You need to experience some stereoscopic gameplay with properly adjusted convergence/depth, then you will not be saying that you'll probably just watch movies. https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/467750/?comment=3786634 Also visit http://3dsolutiongaming.com/ http://ramblingsofa3dgamer.blogspot.com/ http://3dsurroundgaming.com/

You can also check the photo galleries of some of the members http://photos.3dvisionlive.com/DarkStarSword/ http://photos.3dvisionlive.com/4everAwake/ Keep in mind that photos vary greatly and depend on the quality of the screenshot when it was taken as well as the format that the game was played in. Also whether the game was using a community fix or not and convergence/depth used by the poster. http://3dvision-blog.com/5265-making-better-quality-stereo-3d-pns-screenshots-with-3d-vision/

Oh, D-Man11, thanks for posting the screenshots. You reminded me of a problem I was having and meaning to ask about but I forgot. When I try to watch a 3D photo in the browser, the 3D mode kicks in and I get the following message: "Waiting for the browser to download image..." And it stays there forever until I close the browser. I tried with Firefox, Chrome and even Internet Explorer but it's always the same. Last time I tried, I got the usual message and then a Windows' blue screen of death with the following error: DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL (or something like that) Could it be because I'm using Windows 8.1? The thing is, since then, every time I have to open 3D photos, I turn off 3D in Nvidia control panel and then choose 2D (L) or 2D (R) to watch the image. I don't think the blue screen of death is normal but what about the "Waiting for the browser to download image..." issue? Is it a known problem or is it just me?

W7 64bit/driver version 332.21 here, no problems. It might be a driver version or W8.1 issue. Another option is to use S View. Not sure if it supports W8/8.1 though.

Depends, if the game is dx11 and doesn't have a community fix you can't, using Nvidia drivers. Well you can, but if the game is very broken, it will be unpleasant. In some cases, you can use TriDef. In some cases, compatibility mode is a very viable option. Like Red Faction Armageddon or Murdered Soul Suspect. Anyhow, to turn off compatibility mode, you need to hit ctrl+alt+F11. This will be obvious, because Nvidia's overlay text will tell you so. With a community fix in place, if there is one, you'll be good to go.

Your Witcher 3 answers can be obtained by reading its thread, please do some legwork on your own. Movies/videos/pictures are either fake or they are not. Just like using 3D Vision requires "two" eyes, capturing things in 3D requires two cameras. Fake 3D is done using automated algorithms and/or manual manipulation. See this thread for movies. https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/883309/3d-vision/-real-3d-movies-thread/ It's impossible to turn fake 3D in movies into real 3D.
one question compability mode is better (higher quality ) 3D or when you play withou this mode i mean in 3D vision ? Which is better ?
Better is proper 3D Vision because it uses 2 REAL cameras to calculate the perspective for the 2 eyes you have. Compatibility Mode 3D is NOT: It renders one eye and "makes some assumptions" for the other eye based on the depth buffer (that exists in every rendered frame) to "see" the depth and offset the other eye. So: - 3D Vision is WHAT YOU WOULD NORMALLY SEE WITH YOUR EYES IF YOU WERE THERE - 3D Compatibility mode tries to SIMULATE what you WOULD see. But since every simulation IS NOT THE ACTUAL THING, hence the difference. So, 3D Vision is WAY better than CM mode, but again everything depends on the "accuracy" of the depth buffer and "how the algorithm works". I know people don't give a F about CM mode, yet I am really impressed by what Nvidia managed to achieve there! (From the tech point of view. I wish they would just tell us how they did it;)) so we can improve it even further !!!!)

Oh boy, indeed. It's really not that complicated, and I would say if you just end up watching movies or indeed using compatibility mode you will be doing yourself a great disservice. Can you unzip an archive? Can you use google to hit the Helix Mod website, can you press ctrl +f6, Ctrl + f5? Ultimately I would suggest really forgetting about compatibility mode at this point. The reality is any Dx11 game can in theory run in a compatibility mode, you just have to learn how to change game profiles, and results may vary. If a game starts in CM mode it generally means there has been a profile released for it. But ultimately in the vast majority of cases even if it does you will want to turn it off. (Ctrl+ALT+F11 by default I think) For example recently I was able to get decent CM 3D with Vermintide by assigning it to the Assassins creed 5 profile instead. (which has a CM enabled profile) But I would strongly suggest looking at the list here for real 3D patches instead. http://helixmod.blogspot.co.nz/2013/10/game-list-automatically-updated.html Pick a game you wish to play and follow the installation instructions. Worry about CM when you have a deeper understanding how it works which will come with use. As everyone has said and I would stress, for the most part you wont be wanting to use it, if you can avoid it. The 3d is subpar compared to correct support. (and there are hundreds of games)
