Will this 3D setup work... And if not what do I need to make it?
Hi, this is my first time to post on the forums so I would really appreciate all the help I can get...

Basically I am trying to set up my tv for the newly released Sky 3D channel. At the minute when I look at the channel all I see the two different pictures side by side (not sure if that helps?). I have a Samsung PS50B451 plasma tv (PN50B450 in U.S.) which Ive been assured will work with the channel though I need to buy active glasses and an emitter. This is where Nvidia comes in... Samsung no longer sell the emitters as they are now built into their televisions. After a long while of research the only glasses I've found that don't look like lab glasses is the 3d vision setup. My tv has a "3D sync out" port so I could plug in the emitter that comes with the 3D vision glasses (VESA cable is it?) but my question is of course...

If I plug all of this in, turn on 3D mode will I have 3D or just end up looking really stupid?

Thanks in advance,

Sam

I may be wrong here but I think you would need to use the 3D Play software and HDMI 1.4 which is being released shortly. You would need to have a PC somewhere in the set up to use 3D vision. The other option would be connecting your sky box to your pc, feeding a live feed to Stereoscopic player and setting that up to work with 3D Vision.

Hope that helps!

Hmm... Well I'm not going to be able to connect a PC but I'm fairly sure that your not quite getting what I'm talking about. Sky have recently released a 3D channel but I don't have any 3d glasses. I'm wondering if I can use the 3D glasses and emitter with my tv to view this channel without using the nvidia software, drivers etc.

Thanks for the quick response,

Sam

Hi sam

I understand what you're looking to do, i'm trying to do the same thing. The problem is the 3D vision still needs the USB drivers to work, not like the VGA dongle edimensional specs etc. The set up i'd consider would be

Sky HD box > Component/HDMI Cable (though HD Fury) > PC Capture Card > Live feed through Stereoscopic player > 3D Vision Output on SSPlayer (Set 3D Vision to DLP TV to use VESA link) > VGA /HDMI to TV

I know it seems a bit long winded but until Sky officially release the channel to residential customers, we prob won't be able to figure out much else!

Simple answer NO you cant use Nvidia 3D Glasses with your TV
You need Samsung glasses, at the moment manufaturers are saying only there glasses work with there tv, i have seen one pair of genric glasses that say works with all. XpanD's X103 Universal Shutter Glasses

This TV will only kick in 3D if it is fed it's native res, so 1360x768 for the 50inch or 1024x768 for the 42inch, I am not aware of any cable or digital tv boxes outputting those particular resolutions.
You would probably have to try the solution as someone mentioned above get the feed going into a PC than you can do what you want with it back out to your tele, good luck.

Has anyone resolved this. I require some help please, Want to connect my sky hd box to tv to watch the sky 3d channel, any other option than using my PC/laptop.

How about using ps3 for blu ray and 3d films.

Any help appreciated.
