What I meant is that you will not be able to run with full graphics settings + 3D vision with 3 monitors. You will have to lower your settings quite a bit i imagine. I'm no expert though and I could be wrong.

It seems that 480 SLI is needed to play maximum settings with 3D on just 1 monitor and obviously cannot handle 3 at anywhere near maximum settings, as suggested above.

Running a single GTX 480 @ 1080p in 3D I would agree with this statement. A single 480 is roughly equivalent to 280 SLI when it comes to 3D Vision, and as most here with even a single 1080p panel in 3D know, that's not always sufficient for more demanding games. Tripling resolution and only doubling GPU performance isn't going to be enough to maintain max settings in the more demanding games that would compel you to upgrade in the first place. I think most people are looking to upgrade to increase FPS in these games while maintaining image quality, not add 2 more flanking panels and subsequently drop image quality settings....

Yeah please realize that even if they had it right now you would need at least dual 480s in sli as youll be in higher resolution plus a 40% fps cut due to 3d vision if not more since its spanning more
Also realize ATI has no solution for that yet and even if they did it'd be the same , youd need a lot of power

I think that if you spread a game like Metro or Just Cause 2 across 3 1080p monitors with 3D vision enabled running on max settings with only 2 cards you will enjoy frame rates of 20 or less. I am just basing this off of my current experience with GTX 480 SLI on a single monitor right now.
Too be honest I wish i could add a 3rd so I could hopefully achieve a constant 60 FPS in Just Cause 2. However, in order to do that I would need a new Mobo, PSU and 1 more 480. Sigh....... I wish I wasn't so addicted to PC gaming.

From the various tests on other forums...it seems Just Cause 2 just isn't supporting/working right with SLI or Crossfire. Metro and Just Cause 2 are 2 games I don't have and they don't seem to be fully optimized yet because they're system hogs. Everything else will be just fine...I don't need to max every setting to enjoy the picture in 3D. I've played around with things a lot and anything higher that 4xAA and 8xAF just isn't that noticeably different to me during gameplay. If I'm staring at a still screen or screenshots, yeah I see it...but in motion and in 3D it doesn't matter much. I wouldn't even mind lowering the settings a bit because 3D gaming on 3 monitors is going to be a lot more immersive than a minor change in graphical appearance. To each their own.
Keep in mind the drivers aren't even out yet that support the new features and I'm sure they're better than the drivers out now.

Very fair points and I hope you are right. I was told by an EVGA rep that SLI is working in JC2. Working and working properly are 2 different things though. For games like Tomb Raider, RE 5, L4D2 etc. would be amazing in 3D vision surround. Please post your finding when you get it! I think if I bought 2 more Alienware monitors, the purchase would be followed by divorce papers!

Although ATI itself does not offer and promote the feature themselves doesn't mean it's impossible to get.
Triple monitor in 3D have been achieved 2 years ago on both ATI and nvidia graphics card when using proper hardware and software.
Back in january 2009 at CES, iZ3D showed a triple 3D monitor system running at full 1680x1050 resolution per eye (the maximum supported by iZ3D 22" monitors) using a single GPU and two Matrox TripleHead2go.
Users have also recently been reporting ATI Eyefinity working in stereo3d with Zalman monitors and iZ3D drivers, you can find blurry videos on youtube of a dude showing off his setup.
Yes of course, newer games have poor performance but older games work well and it shows it is possible and that it does work, more complicated setpus could also be perfectly possible (surround passive projectors, surround 3DTVs, etc...)
