flashing boxes bug Only happens in stereo using my 6600
I have a geforce 6600 with 256 memory using pci express. when I play doom 3, worms 4: mayhem, and the sims 2, I experience random flashing boxes all over the place (only when turning stereo on), which make the games unplayable. I'm using the 71.89 video and stereo driver. I swaped out the card with both a geforce 4 4600ti and a geforce fx 5700 ultra, and this did not happen when I switched to stereo. they looked perfect. has anyone else experienced this problem?

Perhaps this is something that can be resolved when the next stereo drivers come out. I sure hope so. I miss playing doom 3 in stereo.

I have the same problem, only I have only the 6600 256mb, and no other card to test it on. It happens to me in doom 3, battlefield 2, and thats all i can think of atm. Any fix anyone?

EDIT: Mine is AGP 8X not PCI-E

First post here and a little late on the reply, but I to am having some flashing problems with the 71.89 drivers and my 6200 AGP 256MB video card. I just upgraded to this card from a GeForce3 and weren't having these problems before. Call Of Duty constantly flashses cross the entire the top portion of the screen, Nolimits Coaster not only flashes, but has missing menu items on the screen. Some games however seem to be ok though, such as Halo, Madden 2005, Top Spin and Colin McRae Rally 04. I've uninstalled / reinstalled the drivers, (stereo and video), and messed around with all in-game settings as well as display settings by enabling and disabling display options, but to no avail. Perhaps the 6xxx series of video cards are not fully supported?

EDIT: Well I thought about this a little more and the problem, (atleast with me) is that games that use OpenGL are the ones with flickering textures. If I set Vsync to "Application Controlled" in my Display Properies, this will help with Call Of Duty not having the top portion of the screen flash, but the game itself still has flashing textures, (this didn't exist before on my GeForce3). NoLimits Coaster has missing menu items, (again, I did not have this problem on my GeForce3), and the game now seems have to more texture flashing than before. I was able to get 18 Wheels Of Steel to play without texture flashing once, it just started working in the middle of a game, but I've never been able to fix that since. Infact, 18 Wheels Of Steel got me thinking and I still think it may be related to this, but it seems the flashing textures I encounter are where light sources are? For example, in this game, when the sun goes down, the problem seems to go away, in Call Of Duty, the textures flash where there is a light on the wall, or where gun fire is going on lighting up a room. It's a very weird problem and I think what I'll do is install RivaTuner and NvHardPage to see if I can fix this problem and report back hopefully some good news. I'm pretty sure if a game doesn't work, it's because if either it doesn't enter stereo mode or you need to change ingame settings to get it work, not a whole graphics driver issue? Anyone?

It's not to do with OpenGL games because Battlefield 2 is definently DX9. I'm not too sure if it would be the light source thing because other games that have light sources within the game don't do it for me. I personally think that NVidia should update their stereo drivers to get a bit more with the times. The 71.89 drivers have been around a while now and dont have the full support for the games that we need. The flashing textures may even be because the drivers arn't up to date with current software technology, hence the fact we are having problems! C'mon NVidia, we pay $$$ for your cards, the least you can do is update the software a little more often!

I have not tried Battlefield 2 in Stereo, but I still feel, atleast my problem is that I only get flashing textures in OpenGL games, I do not have these problems in DirectX games at all, they either work just fine / may need in-game changes in stereo or they don't enter stereo mode at all, but any OpenGL game I've tried, no matter what I do, still has flashing textures. I have the DOOM 3 demo, so I tried that in Stereo, and I get the same problem, flashing textures. The problem isn't related to OpenGL directly, I know it works because my GeForce3 had no problems, (except for a few games such as NoLimits Coaster that had minutely flashing textures and 18 Wheels Of Steel which had weird flashing coloured lines all around the truck), and others have had plenty of success as well. I tried some older driver combinations and didn't get anywhere. I installed NVHardPage and stilll got nowhere. It's no dobut that the problem is not directly related to OpenGL, as I mentioned before, we know it works, so hopefully when Nvidia releases it's new stereo / graphics displayer driver combo these problems will be fixed.

I have exactly the same problem in all OpenGL games. DirectX games works fine.
My system:
Athlon XP 2600
Asus A7N8X-X
XFX Geforce 6600GT 128Mb AGP
Windows XP SP2
Forceware 71.89

Any solution?

Well I am UNHAPPY to report that the problem has NOT been fixed. Still, ALL OpenGL games having flashing textures / are worse in some case, (notably NoLimits Coaster). When watching a wooden coaster, the wood rails are now completely GONE, and appear whenever they feel like :( Nvidia, whatever you did, you've completely ruined stereo support when running OpenGL games under your Ge-Force 6 series, PLEASE, fix the problem!!! If there isn't a problem, then we need a solution here!!!

I have the same issue with BF2. I also have the 6600 256's except in SLI. Flashing textures, or textures turn blue. Didn't have this problem with my old ATI card....

I've read several of these threads with the same symptoms. I can't believe nobody's addressed it yet.

Wht has and old ATI card got to do with nVIDIA's stereo driver support - AFAIK, ATI cards don't support stereo - so you COULDN'T have experienced this problem...

anyhoo - I get the same isuues with DOOM III, but it doesn't affect all GL games - seems to be an unhealthy mix of GL & D3D (GeF 6600 256 AGP, btw). You'd think that once we spent £s/$s buying the cards, nV would sort the software so that we might be able to USE THE THINGS!

Because it doesn't have anything to do with Stereo drivers. It's a GPU driver issue.
