Dead Space 3 - definitely hope for 3D Vision
Shadows are must in this game
I agree, to me dynamic lighting and shadows are a huge factor in making a videogame world seem alive, just like physics. There's things I just naturally expect to happen like in Skyrim when in 3rd person and I whip out a torch I just naturally expect to see my shadow dancing opposite it. It doesn't happen and it just seems off ... it does happen in Arcania. Or when you're in 1st person and you walk in front of a light source and yet you don't cast a shadow ... but in 3rd person you do.

I can live without shadows in many games, but not in horror games for obvious reasons, so I'll wait too.

I've played Dead Space 2 in 3D and finished the game 3 times in 3 different difficult levels, cause I really loved playing this game in 3D. It's definatelly one of the best 3D games I've played. It's 3D showcase and we all agree with that. I just can't imagine myself playing this game in 2D. The original Dead Space I've played only in 2D, as I didn't know about 3D Vision in early 2009, unfortunatelly, maybe I'll play it one again, but in 3D this time. When I've played Dead Space 2 I wasn't aware of Helix fixes, so I've just turned off shadows and didn't use to much depth, only 45%, so the halo effect around Isaac wasn't really that bad. Besides that the game looked awesome in 3D and I had great fun playing DS2 in 3D, even without Helix fix. Now that I am aware that Helix is the man who can fix DX9 3D games and make it look superb, I'll definatelly wait for his fix for DS3 to be releases, before I play this amazing game. Right now I am addicted to Farcry 3 in 3D using Helix fix, which made the game beyond perfection in 3D, one of the best I've played so far. So, I intend to wait and play DS3 with shadows on and dynamic lightning, as I totally agree that shadows is a must have, specially for a 3rd person 3D showcase like Dead Space. I had hopes that helix fix in DS2 could work for DS3 after I read the above comments, since it's the same engine and nothing has changed in the game besides the story and enviroment, but I don't know a thing about codes and dll structures, I guess Helix fix are way more complicated to be done than we can imagine. I just hope Helix never works for Nvidia, or we'll be screwed without his fixes, since Nvidia personel/devs can't fix games that are not 3D Vision Ready or made for 3D Vision. At least we know Crysis 3 will work with 3D Vision right from the start without need for fixes, but unfortunately it won't be the kind of 3D we're expecting, but anyway, it's Crysis 3, it's gonna be the BOMB...

I used to agree with not playing a game if I had to disable shadows and what not, thats why I spent massive money on a cpu -- to be able to use every option and more... But now that I am spoiled to 3d, I can live without shadows, besides just play it for a few minutes without shadows and next thing you know it will be tomorrow and you'll still be gaming. http://photos.3dvisionlive.com/xDefianTx/album/511150b25ec3466343000065/ are some pics of it without helix

No way I can go without shadows with this game. Especially with fancy soft shadows. Makes a big difference on lighting. Looks like helix most recent mod is on DmC which just came out. Do we have a chance of him patching DS3 soon? If so where should I look to get it right when it comes out? Here or http://helixmod.blogspot.com/?

Woot Helix got a fix up! For any crosshair issues, turn it to classic aiming in the options and it helps tremendously as well.

Wow, I was wondering perhaps in the next month or so there will be a fix. Low and behold.....thanks so much for this. http://helixmod.blogspot.ca/2013/02/dead-space-3-3d-vision-fix.html?utm_source=BP_recent This is amazing, the Dead Space Triology in 3D. After I get through DS3 once, I will have to allocate a future weekend for a Dead Space 3D marathon! I'll get nagged to death for it, but a price I am willing to pay....LOL

Once again, thank you so much Helix, great work! Glad I kept myself from playing this until now. This again proves to be the only thing that makes 3D Vision worth owning. I wonder how much nVidia really is aware of your work. Maybe they're actually just ignoring on improving 3D Vision and counting on you to do their work for them (in DX9 games at least)? What was the last game that actually worked fine in 3D Vision without Helix mod? Was it Battlefield 3 (and even that had a delay of a couple of months for the 3D Vision patch)?

Guys, if you still dont start playing this game in 3D....START right now!!!, this game its better than Dead Space 2 (for me one of the best 3D games ever...but DS3 take his place for sure)... The game gets better and better as you progress in game (yesterday i cant stop playing.... dark room and high volume in 5.1 its amazing). In "Extra" menu you can see a video from "previously in Dead Space". This history take place after Dead Space 2, so i think its important at least finish DS2. DS1 its well summarized in the video. I playing Classic mode, at least for me its more confortable. Screenshots in here: DS3 Screenshot

Just bought this game and a GEFORCE 660TI along with a Panasonic UT50 3d tv so I could play 3d games and this game won't work. Can anybody help? Whenever I boot the game it says current resolution not supported and to try a different one. Ive tried 1920*1080 in the 3d vision settings both at 23 and 24 hz. Ive also tried 1280*720 at 60 and 59 hz neither of these modes are working properly everytime I boot I just get a red logo saying not supported. DMC3 works and so does transformers but this game won't. Any help as to what Im doing wrong? The error is this game does not support 1920*1080 at 60hz try changing the resolution. Its like the game is loading its own presets instead of the ones Im choosing in the 3d vision control panel.

Rockstar did a terrific job with this game concerning 3D. It was one of the best 3D games I've played so far with 3D Vision. Batman AC was also a great 3D game. Nvidia is not aware of anything that happens here. They're not worried about us or what happens in this forum. They coudn't care less, all they care now it's just the damn Project Shield and that Tesla Tegra CPU they're designing for mobile applications. Someone in the Nvidia board thinks that mobile gaming is the future.... I think otherwise, mobile gaming (tablets and smart phones) will never give us the realist sensation and immersion you get out of a big screen and specially playing games in 3D. Mobile gaming is for kids that don't know what PC games look like. Mobile gaming is even worse than consoles. I can't understand all this hype around playing games with tablets. It's boring as hell, this is major step backwards in my opinion. Nvidia should put efforts for supporting new games, not aiming 100% of their attention to mobile gaming only. They're not even sponsoring a game like Crysis 3 that is supose to push gaming graphics to another level, and left it in AMD hands. So, it's not just 3D they're not giving any attention, it's also Geforce gaming as well. Not sponsoring Crysis 3, after they supported Crysis 1 and 2, is just something I can't figure out? How da hell Nvidia thinks they're going to sell their new 7000 series GPUs without new games support like Crysis 3? They're not supporting games anymore, Farcry 3, and now Crysis 3, let's at least hope GTA V will have true Geforce support and hopefully 3D visions. Rockstar seems to care about 3D.
