Horizontal Interlace Stereo Mode
Hello,

Not sure if this is the correct place to post this topic, but it is about stereoscopic vision so here goes.

Windows XP
Video Card NVIDIA FX 4500

We are trying to test a LG Cinema 3D computer monitor that displays stereo via passive circular polarized glasses and horizontal interleave.
We map features from stereoscopic pairs of aerial photography. We currently use CRT monitors equipped with the StereoGraphics Zscreen (similar to RealD 3D movie theaters) and passive glasses as the stereo viewing system. The CRTs are on their last legs and we are now researching/testing LCD flat panel stereo viewing technologies.

We downloaded and updated to the latest NVIDIA FX 4500 driver version 6.14.12.7628 dated 11/3/2011 from www.nvidia.com.

I read the following online manual:

http://us.download.nvidia.com/Windows/Quadro_Certified/276.28/276.28-NVIDIA-Control-Panel-Quick-Start-Guide.pdf

In "Table C.3 List of Supported Stereo Display Modes" it lists "Horizontal interlaced stereo display".

After installing the driver we do not see this option in the "Stereo - Display mode" list.

Got any ideas as to how I might get this to work?

I have contacted NVIDIA online support but as yet I have not had a reply from them, so I am hoping that a guru on the forum might beat them to it.

Thank you,

The LG D2342P-PN 23-Inch Widescreen Passive 3D LED LCD Monitor, would not be on my list as a replacement. The viewing angles can leave a lot to be desired. They also have a known problem with clear ghosting that LG is well aware of and has yet to resolve.

Nvidia is offering no direct support for this monitor. There are workarounds that can be found though.

Hi D-Man11,

Thanks for your quick response.

You have a work around?
Want to share it?
Does your work around get the video card to display in horizontal interleave stereo mode as the online manual implies?

For now we are only "testing" the monitor as part of our research into replacement technologies.
We intend to return the monitor to the store.

We have no interest in whether or not NVIDIA supports the monitor.
Our only immediate interest right now is whether or not our NVIDIA Quadro FX 4500 video card has a driver available that adds Stereo Display Mode of Horizontal Interlace.

Thanks,
Kenny.

I'm unfamiliar with the full capabilities of the Quadro card as well as the Pro 3D Vision support for various displays. Other than I do know that the 3D Vision Pro does offer additional support that is not available in the consumer 3D Vision, such as dual-head.

You can possibly search the forumns here for a workaround or Google one.
