Steam + Helix wrapper - doubt about the possibility of being banned
I have a question, by curiosity. I have recently bought a Steam game called Chivalry Medieval Warfare, and this game uses Unreal 3 engine. This game is only multiplayer, and my question is about the possible consequences of ussing the Helix wrapper, i.e., is it possible to be banned from Steam because being consiered a cheat or something? I have only 2 Steam games and I have no experience in this plataform, and not even know if being banned once means I will never be able to use any Steam game online.
The idea of using the Helix wrapper is because I have noticed that other Unreal 3 engine games (like Dishonored) have been fixed succesfully, and maybe I only have to put the same fix and solves the problem with Chivalry. Chivalry is almost good in 3D, but water is a problem and shadows too, although bearable.

I never played the game, but I used to have the same problems in WoW when playing in DX11. I found that playing in DX9 and setting shadows + water to low solved it. Just an idea, until you hear back from someone that knows.

It uses same unreal version as Spec Ops which is not compatible with helix's S3D conversion script so it doesn't really matter (at least at the moment).
I really dont think a game can detect the d3d9.dll but it could prevent it from loading prior but again it doesnt really matter. I guess its always a risk but no ones ever gotten banned yet. Though you shouldnt ask developer because its likely to make them mad.

It works different with different kind of anticheat softwares. Just taking iz3d-driver as an example punkbuster will complain about duplicate d3d9.dll while valves vac seems to work perfectly with it. I guess anticheat companies might be able to whitelist softwares like Helix hook but in case they're afraid that such software could be an entrance for other cheats it will be a no go. By experience i know that several appeals by different users to softwarecompanies like punkbuster and gameguard had no effect, either because iz3d were small or the above mentioned reason.
