How do we bind 3D Stereo OFF and SNIPE together? Stereo 3D causes trouble during sniping!

As many Stereo Glasses players have noticed, "aiming down the sights" and "sniping" is a pain whith 3D Stereo enabled. Because in real life we close one eye when sniping or aiming down the sights. We cant snipe with both eyes opened!

I know that during games I have to deactivate 3D stereo by hotkey when I am sniping, but when you are in combat and u want to aim down the sights, that can be fatal! (in-game that is! :D ) Because every split second counts and switching 3D stereo ON or OFF takes about 2 seconds!

So it would be fabulous if 3D Stereo would IMMIDIATLY and AUTOMATICALLY switch OFF when we aim down the sights or when we snipe.

But how do we bind the 3D hotkey to the game???

I hope this is not TOO tough for you guys! :D

/wave.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> Tzeff /wave.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

P.S. please type the EXACT command...if there is any, that is... :P

This is one of the mayor problems I see too to play some Stereo3D games. I like to use big separation and convergence usually.

Laser shight (Ctrl+F12) is thought to solve this aiming problem, but doesn´t work very well in some games, and doesn´t work totally in others. But the perfet solution is in the programers hands for future games... to think about Stereo3D when they make any game, and solve problems like this crosshair aiming (different depths for crosshair), like HUD, like 2d objects placements, etc.

I think most of actual games have "compatiblility" and some of them are very funy to play in Stereo3D, but was not programed thinking about to be played in Stereo3D.

Would be great the release of some patches for actual great games, to support better Stereo 3D, but I don´t hope this.... I hope future games will solve.

For now, you either use the nVidia lasersight or aim between the game's scope sights. Sorry. Personally I find this satisfactory.

Or, you could additionally bind whatever alt-fire key to "T" so that when you press Ctrl-T you'll get the toggle you desire. If you set up your stereo and non-stereo refresh rate to be the same (may need to use nvidia refresh rate overrides), there should be no delay.

Easiest way if the ironsights mode is toggled on and off by a key is to find out what key it is, and then go to your forceware panel... In stereo properties>advanced stereo properties>hotkey setup>Toggle Stereo Default On click on the CTRL+T and then tap whatever key the ironsights toggle is.

Make sure that before your avatar spawns into the game world that stereo is on, otherwise the effect will be the opposite of what you desire.

I have not done any of this, but it all works in my head. ;)

Thanks, guys. /thumbup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

I like bigtabs method more. (Ctrl+T takes too long)
But unfortunately we can't bind our own hotkey in the hotkey setup... :(

I am gonna ask Nvidia to enable the user to bind his/her own hotkey.

I hope they will be positive!!!

Thanks again!

:(
I've followed your instructions, Bigtabs. But I use the middle-mouse button (scroll-button) to snipe. Or ENTER.

 But we can't bind CTRL with neither of them! :(

I think I am gonna cry.... :'(

I feel so dissapointed with my 3D glasses....1st there is practically NO antialiasing. (or just 2X AA, and not my favourite: 8X AA) 2nd, the hotlkey binding problem.... /blarg.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':/' />

GEEZ......! /thumbsdown.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Tzeff /wave.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

P.S. And I can't contact Nvidia by e-mail neither!!! >wail< :'( >whimper<
And I don't think they will make 8X AA work in 3D Stereo neither.... /thumbsdown.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Hmm.. I don't think that the middle mouse button will work, or the enter key.. Usually Windows hotkeys are limited to certain keys and key combinations on the keyboard.

Didn't you try assigning a letter?

I don't wanna change my key assignment for sniping...

I rather play with 3D Stereo OFF! (The 3D Stereo world looks AWFULL anyway, with almost NO AntiAliasing) And I can snipe with my favourite key with no problemo, too!

Never mind....I am writing a letter to Nvidia about the hotkey issue. I hope they can allow us to switch 3D Stereo on/off by clicking the middle-mouse-key or by hitting ENTER.

Maybe you could make a script for the particular game you want to do it to . If thats possible , i know you can make scripts for CSS . You have something like , when this button is pressed , then do this . So say when middle mouse button is pressed , do ctrl+t . I dunno , would this work ?

There is software available that will do that for you on a global level.. I forget the name, but it should be easy enough to google.
