Unable to Activate 3D Vision.
Hello, It is rather unclear to me what exactly I need to get 3D gaming working on my laptop. What I have: - custom built laptop with intel HD 4600 & Nvidia GT 740M - BenQ 3D projector (W1070ST) Initial problem: when installing or reinstalling the nvidia driver for the nvidia chip, I don't get the option to install the 3D Vision drivers/software. Why is that? From what I read, the GT 740M should be supported? When trying to force install the 3D Vision, the installation complains about my geforce drivers not being recent enough (although installed the latest available on nvidia site) and still can't get any 3D out of it. When trying all this, I switch to only use the 3D projector, so my laptop monitor disabled. So what do I need to get 3D working? Do I need to buy 3D TV Play, or is that not the problem? Do I need to find a way to disable the intel gfx? Or will that also not solve it? Cheers...
Hello,

So what do I need to get 3D working? Do I need to buy 3D TV Play, or is that not the problem? Do I need to find a way to disable the intel gfx? Or will that also not solve it?

Cheers...

It's almost certainly using Optimus tech, if it has dual graphics chips like that. Unfortunately, that usually means the video out is hooked up to the Intel chip, which won't output 3d vision. If you can disable it though, it's worth trying. Also worth noting that 3d vision is no longer supported on Vista, in case you're running that.

Am running Windows 7, so no probs there. The system is configured to use the nvidia chip for all software (high performance setting), but indeed the standard OS video chip is still the intel one. I'll look into how I can disable the intel alltogether (doesn't seem possible in the BIOS), but I would expect I could at least install the 3D Vision whith the two GPU's active.

You need either a 3d screen built into the laptop, or a video output connected to the nVidia chip. You probably have neither, so I doubt you'll have any success. Many have tried. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

And it seems you're correct. Checked with the notebook manufacturer... HDMI linked to intel, no way to disable it, so no 3D there -.- Thanks for the hints.
