Please provide a new stereo driver. Dual Core stereo driver.
1 / 2
I along with many net buddies would love to see better support for stereo drivers. It seems there have been issues uncovered that do not allow many dual core users to take advantage of stereo. I am unsure if this is due to the dual core itself or related chipsets. I have attempted to get many games to work with every configuration mentioned on this board with very little luck. Prey, Doom3, Quake, and BF2 intermittently work thats two engines really. However, this was done by disabling the OS to a single core and disabling threaded optimizations via your instructions. I would be very open to beta/alpha test anything you have, under a NDA if needed. I will purchase a set of Z800's and would love to use them by the end of the year unless something changes. Anything you can do would be very very much appreciated by the entire community.

[quote name='InCytE' date='Aug 22 2006, 04:58 AM']I support this post. The dual core bug really needs to be addressed. If it is something other than the video driver (eg chipset). Please let us know.

Well I just couldn't let it go. I've said I shelved my shutter glasses but I took the day off work and saw them just sitting there. So I disabled one of my cores via the BOOT.INI NUMPROC= 1.
After much testing and many reboots I have found that many of my issues seem to be caused by the Nvidia 3D Stereo Laser Sight. It obviously does not appear in most games when enabled. If I alt-tab out and in of the game it will appear. I didn't like or need it, I find it just distracts from the images. So I disabled it. After disabling the laser sight, broken stereo (system resets). I could not launch the tests or any games if left disabled. If stereo is set to enabled by hot key or just enable it would reboot my system upon applying the settings with the sight disabled. If I manage to turn off the sight and enable stereo it would reset on boot. Turning the laser sight back on and everything is back to normal, even thought it is not displayed in any app unless you alt-tab out and back in. This is with the 91.28 drivers in HL2 and BF2 and stereo tests with the system below with the most up to system drivers, DX and all other updates.
However when stereo is running I still get flashes (both shutters open) almost every 5sec exactly. The flashing seems to be game dependant. For example in HL2 at any resolution and any refresh it comes and goes. When looking at one particular spot it’s fine, no flashing but moving in the game just an mm in any direction and I could get flashing every 5 sec. If I move the mouse around viewing all over the place quickly I get flashes maybe every 15-25sec. If standing still and the view is flashing, adjusting the separation will stop it until I move again. It seems less frequent with Vsync enabled. I experienced this in HL2 at any resolution/refresh setting. I did not experience any flashing at one very early on point in BF2. I have no idea exactly when it started. Some time between 91.28 and 91.31 and dual to single core testing, something left in the registry maybe, I do use driver cleaner, maybe they need to update their software. I’m guessing there are many issues with the newer hardware I’m working with. I hope this helps Nvidia.
Edit: Just on a side note I do have a G15-LCD keyboard. I'm not sure if has anything to do with anything but one of my G15 BF2-mod LCD screens was garbled with stereo. I've disabled everything but the keyboard itself with no changes in flashing or resets. The only things shown in the tray are the X-fi media center, belkin N52 software and logitech setpoint software but something may still be running in the background, I have not disabled processes yet.

So they say for every person that complains there are almost 50 people that will remain silent. Six people=300 each one of those people will tell at least 10 people of their dissatisfaction and I'm sure there are even more. We do appreciate everything you do for the stereo community but please work on the stereo support and drivers.

Just want to add my voice to the topic.
I have just upgraded to a conroe e6600/Intel 975 (BadAxe) and I find that none of my stereo favored titles work. Please release a dual core compatible stereo driver asap Nvidia. This is one of the few reasons I choose Nvidia over ATI .

i would like to add my voice the this discussion. I have owned shutter glasses for a few years. Bought my new gaming computer with dual core and Nvidia card because I knew Nvidia had stereo drivers. But because I have a dual core AMD processor Im screwed. I would like to purchase a set of Z800's for gaming but there is no point because my computer would not run in stereo.
Nvidia... Get it together for gods sake!
Has anyone tested the new 91.47 drivers. Do the release notes address this issue?

91.47 with what? I can't find a matching stereo driver. The release notes only say: Unresolved: GeForce 7800/7900, 3D Stereo: 3DMark05–in the first test, return to
proxycon, there is texture corruption in the tunnel and thats been there for a while. The next mention of stereo is back in the 70 series.

I was half joking.
I have the 91.47 Stereo beta (it works with the current Forceware 91.47 drivers).
I already uploaded it to guru - perhaps they didn't get it.

Not test it in DualCore-problems (I deleted SeriouseSam2), but driver haven't any different in Doom3-core games.
Anyway you must KNOW - this realise just OFICIAL QUADRO-SLI support. Don't see strereo-news in it.
