<-- This fat dude needs some game suggestions to play whilst exercising on a static bike
Yes I'm fat. I am now in my 40s and I've started to grow a neckbeard, which sucks! I hate HATE exercise because I find it too boring but have to do it because I have kids and responsibilities etc. So desperate measures were required.
Awesomely I have found I can quite happily exercise as long as I am gaming. I have pushed my static bike up to the screen and continued my playthrough of Witcher 3, using the gamepad, which I had abandoned because of VR. It's great! I find I can now cycle (lowish resistance) pretty much until the seat (cough!) causes pain!
I have just finished the main quest so just have the expansions to go. What will I do next? I would be very grateful for some game suggestions, which can look good in 3D and are very playable using a controller.
Any suggestions? I haven't played many recent games tbh so I am a bit of a loss. Ideally something... compelling?
Thanks!
Andy

Lord, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain would probably be good. It's a long game and keeps you engaged in whats happening the majority of the time. The are cutscenes though, unsure if that'll kill your momentum. I looked forward to seeing the story, so I think you should be fine. For more consistent action, maybe Castlevania: LoS if you still haven't played it. Also a great game.

Reboot of Tomb Raider was cool, i still didn't played the last one, i don't have the rig to play it in good condition.
+1 for Castlevania: Lord of Shadows
Why not GTA too?
The game Remember Me? Trine trilogy?
Awesomeness!
and thanks. MGS. Totally overlooked that one. Then for Castlevania: Lord of Shadows. Perfect.
Dirt Rally is stella in VR. I love it but imagine sweating and using VR headset... imagine the poor soul who comes and tries my VR afterwards!

Hehe! I find it more bearable to have a fan blowing on my face, or else it gets too hot due to the LEDs.

A little off topic (regarding 3D) but I used to have the same problem never exercising because it gets boring. Then I bought a couple dance pads and set up Stepmania in my spare bedroom. I don't know why, but I never get tired of that game. Been playing it for years now. (Though I understand it's a bit too silly for a lot of folks.)

Whatever you do, be very careful if you take any fat loss pills.
I recall that people taking hydroxy cut had some very serious issues as a result before it was recalled. Supposedly they changed the formula, but still.....

After an accident, I was having a hard time staying motivated to rehab my knee. What got me through it and motivated was watching "The Biggest Loser" while I hoofed it on the treadmill. If they can do it, well...

Exercising in VR is a no go for me. Way too sweaty. yeuch!
I am not sure about MGS. I have tried it for a few hours but I am not sure what is good about it? I am still really early on but so far it just seems to be walking around and then taking out bases. Is there more to it than this?
What am I missing?

As MGS goes, the story is has some great moments, upgrading your equipment and weapons becomes really fun, you get some interesting sidekicks in battle eventually, fultoning enemies, tanks, and the like. I think you'll get into it but perhaps it isn't for everyone. It's personally my in my top 2-3 games of the last few years.

Might be the right venue for a GearVR instead of a Rift. They have a sweatproof liner, and it's much lighter. Seems like VR with the right setup would be nearly ideal for taking the boredom out of exercise. Although my rule has always been to find a sport that you just fundamentally enjoy and do that.
For games, that's going to be as subjective as any other suggestion. If you like Witcher3 as a compelling game, you'll probably like Dragon Age too. Probably DarkSiders.
For mindless shoot-em-up with a giant, beautiful, map you cannot beat Just Cause 2.
