3D Vision Causing new gaming rig to Shut down! Whenever i play my games with 3D enabled my compu
  2 / 3
Hey again

Well i have now checked under "System" and under "Problem Reports and Solutions" and it hasnt logged anything since the 14th of June, and that is kinda where i installed 3D vision, but i dont think it will be able to log the problems anyway, cuz as i said - it shuts down INSTANTLY. /blarg.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':/' />

i really wish Nvidia could tell me if they had this problem before.

and btw, i run Crysis and Enthusiast settings, and 1680-1050 resolution and it runs fine - and shouldnt that push my computer like when i run Left 4 Dead in 3D vision.

just to make sure u understand:

1. i run Crysis with max settings 100% fine, never crash or anything ( this is WITHOUT 3D vision glasses )

2. i Run Left 4 Dead with 3D vision and my computer shuts down itself instantly after some minutes. If i run Left4Dead without 3D, then my computer works fine.

Try something like: running WinRAR in benchmark mode with multithreading on and 3DMark with all settings at max resolution and detail level (including AA/AF) looped for a few hours. That without 3D Vision and then run the same thing with 3D Vision and see how much time is needed for the system to crash and if it crashes in the test without 3d vision on.

Hello

I have now tried running 3D Mark Vantage Advanced with and without 3D Vision.
It didnt shut down during 3D vision, tho the glasses started blinking (turning on and off) during the tests.

and my Temperatures stayed between 50-65 degrees all the time.

I really dont get this, Nvidia should really step up and help too here, this cant be right, their product is slowly destroying by new rig, and i payed alot for these glasses and screen. You should know that i dont have ANY problems gaming when i dont have the 3D on :(

Btw, after i updated my drivers from 182 to 185 it seems like my 3D glasses are turning on and off (looks like flickering) which they didnt before.

Any other suggestions? i really cant understand if it should be my 1000W PSU.

Go to Administrative Tools > Computer Managemen > System Tools > Event Viewer > Windows Logs > System and scroll through the list looking for anything with a red X or ! icon by it, then take note of what error message it's giving and what process it says it's related to. If your system is shutting down because of any kind of software conflict or hardware failure there should be an entry showing when the problem happened and what caused it. The only possible exception might be if it is indeed a power failure, in which case your system may not have time to log an error before it just shuts down, but that seems unlikely since you say the problem only happens when stereo mode is active.

- unexpected? oh really?

anyways, there isnt any other info on this message, tho i can find multiple ones (1 for each time it shut down)

I have had similar issues in the past but I attribute mine to overheating. I am curious though is Left4dead the only game this happens to u on?

- Mirrors Edge
- Dead space
- Far Cry 2

lol "unexpected"? really? ;)

Check the log entries just before those. If you find the same item logged just before the shutdown over and over again, whatever that process is is probably the culprit.

Also, go into System > Advanced System Settings > Advanced > Startup and Recovery and make sure "Write an event to the system log" is checked, and UNcheck the box that says "Automatically restart". This should force your system to crash to a BSOD instead of immediately restarting without giving you any indication of what error caused the crash. If it works, the next time you crash and get a BSOD take note of the error message (should look something like "error 1234x0000001"). If the problem is that you're undervolting your cpu, vtt, or ram under stress while gaming, that error message may give us an indication what the problem is.

Have you called nvidia tech support? There's a 3d Vision tech support number in the "Tips & Tricks" booklet that came with the system, try giving them a call, maybe they can help you troubleshoot better than we can. Good luck!!

think its better to just replace the lense in the glasses and use them as sunglasses - they aint worth killing my new hardware for :P i just wish someone from Nvidia would do some support on the forum :S

EDIT: Why isnt this guy andrew helping here or something? i see you/him replying other posts, but ignoring this one - could u please talk to your company Andrew?

Hi,
My friend, your problem is most probably the graphics card, and I tell you the reason. I had a similar issue with my BFG OC card, and it would give me crappy graphics and shut down on it's own. The reason is that this card comes overclocked from the factory. Sometimes, this makes the card unstable, so I had to manually under clock it, so that my system run stable. At first I didn't know this, but when I replaced the card it got fixed. I never bought an overclocked version again, just the cards with nVidia official clock. If you can, change your graphics card and see the difference. This way you can be sure if it's ur card or something else.
UPDATE: I have a similar problem, but different symptoms. My games would crash when 3D is on and graphics is crappy. I brought my cousin's PC, connected my 3D monitor and IR emitter....still same issue. This means my 3D system is causing the crashes (either monitor or glasses). I think you should check your monitor and glasses with another PC too. I never suspected that it could be my 3D devices. Now I'm gonna RMA it. Maybe your PC is fine, the monitor or glasses are defective. Also if you have Logitech devices, try removing them coz they have problems too...google it and u'll have plenty of ppl complaining.
Cheers

I think u should try a reformat to ensure a clean install on all your drivers for your whole machine.
