Hello,
first off I'm sorry for asking something that's surely been debated, but this search engine returned scant results...my fault, maybe
as there's an offer on Steam, is there any of the first four Splinter Cell releases working satisfactorily in 3DV ?
thanks
Mike is working on a patch for Blacklist, I don't know about the others.
Blacklist also works under nVidia's new system, if you have the latest beta driver. Your experience may vary, though most people don't love the new system.

New System = The new 'fake 3D'(think Crysis 3 ... I like to call it '2D Vision' :)) support [s]added[/s] 'forced on' to certain games. The list and driver link is located here:

Are the Splinter Cell games prior to BlackList any good to play? The Steam offer is pretty compelling, and I got paid yesterday... I was thinking in particular of getting Conviction.

Crysis 3? that was my motive for not buying it :-) you're right, it's more a "two-layer" vision
@mike_ar69
I have the first SC game only, there 3DV is working, although with the visual limits of old games

I have the older games as far back as the first Splinter Cell. I managed to get the ones listed below to enable 3D and in spite of the usual suspects with shaders, I did enjoy them overall. I do recall (it's been awhile) that the 3D problems did not make it completely unplayable, but as far as I remember, there were some problems that were more of distractions than completely broken. I've also seen the weekend deal on steam and I was thinking about Double Agent and Conviction but does anyone know if those two even work in 3D. And if so, is it a complete mess?
These are the titles that I did play and enjoyed for the most part. I wouldn't rate them as amazing, but they were fun enough to get hours of entertainment...
1.) Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell
2.) Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow ( I believe some other publisher as the rights so It is not on steam from what I can tell)
3.) Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory

:-) after all, it's only 2.5€ per game...I may stand the chance :-) with buying and rejecting them if they have a bad 3DV ...

these my findings, after the 8€ sacrifice :-) and after a few minutes into first missions:
Chaos Theory is not acceptable, expecially in the dark
Double Agent and Conviction seem to work fine
I bought Conviction. Shadows are busted, so I am going to see if I can fix them. At some point. I fixed blacklist shadows so I am hoping it's not too difficult.

Though not being convinced by Tridef in general (I prefer 3d Vision in combination with the Helix fixes) it turned out to work great for Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory (Works out of the box with a generic profile) and since the latest nvidia gpus render the game at blazing speeds, there is no usual FPS impact noticeable that normally comes with using Tridef.

I got six little friends and they all run faster than you ;)

Yeah still working on it. Now that Might and Magic is as done as it's going to be, I am back on this. I fixed the show stopper issue I had with lights snapping in and out (just earlier today in fact) so that's great news, I just need to plough through and chip away at remaining issues. Also, looking briefly at Conviction dumps folder, the shaders look really similar, so that may well be a done deal as well (hopefully).
