Am in the process of trying to get hold of the bits and set up a 3d rig
from the list of vendors on the nVidia page, only one of the retailers from i think 5 even stock the kit of glasses and ir transmitter. (that would be scan uk )
The rest simply list the glasses / kits as "discontinued"
Graphics cards proudly state 3d ready yet retailers mark the glasses as discontinued ?
I am struggling to understand what is going on, is it poor marketing from nVidia or have the kits really been discontinued and Scan is selling the last of its old stock ?
I went in to currys (yeah i know, the sales staff seem to think reading the writing on the side of the box to you is a substitute for techincal expertise) Yet none of them knew which monitors could do any kind of 3d, I even had to explain what G-sync was all about. He whipped out his phone and frantically googled it then started to read the web page he found to me. My response was to say i had already read it myself and was rather hoping someone in the shop might actually be able to help.
Slowly losing the will to live when ebay sellers want up to £208 for the kits (presumably because they are now rare and ancient ? who knows)
Is anyone else out there having the same problems ?

Kits are still available, but supply varies from country to country. Vendors might no longer be carrying them, but they are still being made. There's always a shortage around this time of year for some reason. Going price is typically $150 US, so do not pay more than that.
Keep in mind that only a limited amount of games work well with 3D Vision. But for a lot of the rest, this community forum has compatibility fixes that fixes most if not all issues.

Thanks for the gaming info, i intend to play WoW and maybe try some 3d movies and see how it goes. I think WoW is fairly well supported so no huge worries there.
Kits are still available, but the last remaining retailer from nVidias list of uk retailers , now lists the kit as "pre order". So there are none of their vendors actually have any stock which i find a little odd.
Amazon UK have some but at a greatly inflated price compared to the listed retailers.
Does anyone from nVidia ever come in here? I would love to hear what they have to say.
Edit.. Just been and looked again at nVidia UK and they have removed the list of vendors and replaced with a "buy now" button beside each item. The list of vendors has gone, Scan appear to have the Older kits and amazon the 3d vision 2 kits. Still not much choice at all. /edit

Actually, WoW has quite a few issues in dx11, dx9 used to work very well but has been broken since the Legion Pre-patch.
Unfortunately, the community modding tool will not load with WoW because of the way that they use auto detection to select the resolution and directX version.

If you want to consider an alternative, 3840x2160 3D Vision gaming is available via an EDID mod for LG 4K passive TVs, enabling 3840x1080 pixels/eye via interleaved display. See https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/818183/3d-vision/gtx-970-4k-3d-vision-gaming-success-with-lgub850v-passive-tv-/post/4510149/#4510149. Glasses provided with TV are used for 3D, rather than special NVIDIA glasses.
Well I went and checked the prices of the TV you mentioned.
Anywhere from £1100 to £1500? for an LGUB850v.
Nice idea thanks but sorry but I dont have space for a beast like that. Nor the money.
Haven't spent £1000 on my entire rig yet and that includes the pc the os , dual monitors and a solid wooden desk!
You should try second hand. You probably will find glasses + monitor offer and of course glasses and monitor separated.
In case you wanted it new dunno about glasses, but you can use http://la.nvidia.com/object/3d-vision-displays-la.html and just type model name in google something will come up. Im looking for a new monitor myself since my old LG W2363D died.
I found this glasses but dunno if they ship to your country.

Are you sure that is the monitor for you ? The page says , HDMI only - no Display Port and no G-Sync.
The glasse syou posted are a little expensive at £135, i was hoping to find them around £100 or less , the technology is 8 years old now, i stuggle to see why it is getting dearer :(
So i had a little google.

There:)
3D Vision glasses and monitors were never ever made in HUGE quantities...ever! But they are certainly NOT discontinued...
Related to the price, I bought my last kit 2 years ago for 100£. (But well now... the Sterling is not what it used to be... is it? We all have to thank for those "dearest" Brexit voters ^_^).
130£ is the right price though... looking at the depreciation of the "coin" and the inflation. So...
Also, avoid all the EDID and 4K TV stuff if possible... GO for Certified 3D Vision Ready displays... (it will save you on the long run, hours of spending on things that aren't working with those hacks, if you aren't familiar with them ^_^ )

If you are doing mainly for wow, I wouldn't bother it's pretty broken at this point and seems like no possibility for a fix.
I would however urge you try and find one anyway, because the reality is with the community here and accumulative fixes over the years 3d is actually healthier than it's ever been.

Can we try to stick to the truth for a moment.
Regarding WoW:
I have no trouble loading my dll into the game.
I just tested so I'm not sure how well it works.
Last time I looked at my code was more than a year ago. So I'm a bit rusty.
Last time i played WOW just turning shadows off and lowering water quality looked quite nice.
Problem with dll i guess its you might get your account banned or something if you are not careful.
"Are you sure that is the monitor for you ? The page says , HDMI only - no Display Port and no G-Sync."
Well, HDMI 1.4 and 2.0 can run 144hz nevertheless this one has DVI. If you scroll down you'l see

Ok, i misunderstood the entire thing completely.
I would recommend that anyone considering the Acer GN246HLB, should instead get the Asus VG248QE . The VG248QE has a better stand and also supports 3D Vision via a Display Port in addition to it's Dual Link DVI input.
Last time I checked you can not get 1080P 60/120/144HZ out of an HDMI connection.
Starting with the GTX 9XX series, 1920X1080@120Hz is possible via their HDMI 2.0 "output".
The problem is, that there are only a few displays that can accept it as an "input".
