3D Vision not working (Emitter problem?)
Hi. I bought a BenQ XL2420T LED 3D monitor. I connected it wiht the DVI cable to my pc. I then purchased the 3D vision 2 wireless glasses without knowing that I need an emitter.. I bought an new IR emitter v1 from ebay after reading here that that should work. But I cant get it to work. The emitter is acting wierd.. With wierd I mean it acts diferently everytime I want to complete the setup. With the newest driver (310.90) to my graphics card geforce 680 I have a steady green light.. after I start the 3D setup (after the part where it detects my screen) the emitter suddenly flashes red or doesn't flash at all or it freezes my computer totaly. After I unplug it everything works fine again. I tryied clean installations of older drivers and also some newer beta drivers.. One time I had it in the light green status but my glasses would't shutter so I saw the same picture on both eyes.. Im completly lost and need some help :/ Thanks to anyone in advance.. It would be much appreciated..

are the glasses brand new? the v1 emitter will work 100% with the v2 glasses. It sounds like the emitter is borked, good test, try it on a mates machine with an nvidia card, same problem, then i think its safe to say the emitter is broken. if you don't have any friends ;-) or not ones with an nvidia card, then try removing the drivers completely (look up guides about how to remove all traces of nvidia driver) and reinstall. if you have the same problem with the emitter (on every usb port on your pc, try them all) then its quite safe to assume the emmitor is at fault. of note, nvidia recommend plugging the usb emitter directly into the motherboard usb (aka the rear ones) not the ones on the front of your case or connected to a PCI card. Do all this soon, as if its bought on ebay and broken you can claim your money back against the buyer.

p.s., if this is your first foray into 3D, don't give up, its worth it. its a shame you didn't buy the glasses and emitter together as they sound like your problem. Im willing to bed a new emitter will correct all your problems.

Try going to device manager, find the USB emitter, uninstall the driver. Now unplug it and plug it back in, be sure to use a USB 2.0 and not a 3.0 port as the latter has been known to cause issues. It should reinstall the emitter driver automatically. Perhaps it has to do with using a V1 emitter with a lightboost monitor? Have you opened a support ticket?

Hey d-man, Lightboost is almost certainly not the problem, the emitter and v1 glasses work perfectly fine with lightboost, the only thing that makes light-boost work is the monitor, the v2 glasses only difference is bigger battery and different visual design. technically, its pretty much identical.

Have you tired the new emitter yet? That really sounds like the problem. Especially if its flickering between red, green etc, That fact it freezes your computer as well suggests a hardware failure to me, and is impossible to be caused by your glasses. Get on the case so you can get a refund from ebay if it is the problem.

You might try finding the emitter in device manager, if it's listed, right click on it and uninstall the driver then hot plug it. It should then install the driver correctly and work hopefully. I've heard of a few people doing this and it solved the problem. Also make sure that you use a USB 2 port, USB 3 can sometimes cause problems. Are you USB ports overloaded? Something like external hard drives or any power hungry devices? Are your USB drivers up to date? Nvidia recommends using a USB port on the motherboard and not one on the ft panel header of the case. Also you might try setting your desktop resolution to 1920x1080@120Hz prior to running the wizard, it might be that something is preventing the wizard from switching to that resolution on it's own. Maybe try setting your desktop to windows basic, so aero isn't interferring? GL

BTW, do you have a second display connected? If so, the 3D Vision monitor needs to be set to your primary monitor. It's a good idea to just disconnect the second display until after you are finished running the wizard. Are you using a DVI Dual Link cable to connect the monitor to the GPU? Does the port that you are connected to on the GPU support DVI Dual Link? Some cards have 2 dual link ports, some one, some none. If your friend has a dual link cable, have him bring it over also.

BTW, are you using Windows Vista? If so, Nvidia dropped support for it with the latest drivers.
