3D doesn't take any siginificant amount of additional GPU memory (with the exception of the third buffer introduced by triple buffering VSync). I don't think that 2 GB card gives you much of an advantage with the exception of a few games which run out of memory on 1 GB (but then, these games will also be affected without S3D).
