How do I switch between 3D modes? I didn't know you could do that.

Actually, you can't unless you have a 3D Vision emitter. (:
Still, for our purposes, you can try the iZ3D free trial D/L. Compare iz3D checkerboard to 3DTV Play 1920x1080/24 framepack. Try it with Bioshock or Bioshock2 or some other game and report your findings.

Question...when you enable 2D->3D on your TV, does your TV's menu get a bit granier? If not, the problem may be with the TV itself.

Yes. When I enable any 3D mode, my desktop gets grainier. The TVs menu is a semi transparent overlay upon my desktop, so it appears grainier too.

Hmm. That's odd. Why should it get grainier? If it's because of the overlay of one image on another, that's one thing, but what if you lower depth/perspective to zero...why should you have resolution loss (grainyness)?

No, I mean if i'm in desktop and I summon the samsung 3D menu with the seven mode choices and choose any one of them (2D > 3D for example), then exit the samsung menu, my desktop is grainier. So everything is grainier even though I'm not doing any 3D app.
I think this is a dithering artifact, something the 2011 were suppose to be improved.

Hi
Please check the setting you are running from the NVIDIA Control Panel > Change resolution > Resolution page. If you are running an "HD 3D" mode, our driver is currently outputting a HDMI 1.4 3D timing to your display. When that happens, the TV's pixel processing engine is switching into 3D mode and optimizing colors settings assuming that glasses are on. Try switching to simply an "HD" mode and see if that fixes your problem.
The only reason to run your windows desktop at an HD 3D mode is if you want 3DTV Play Window mode.
