Question about Dvi Splitter/Switch for Alienware optx aw2310 monitor
Hello everyone, I am new to the forums. I did a search on this before posting, and did not find anything so I appologize in advance if this was already posted. Anyway, here is my issue.
I have an Alienware optx aw2310 monitor that only has 1 dvi port, and am looking for a splitter or a switch box, to switch between my mac and my PC. I have Nvidia's 3dvision kit so when I switch to the pc side, I would like to be able to still get 1080p and 120hz. Can anyone give me suggestions on how to achieve this? most of the switch boxes I have seen only support up to 60 hz, which will not work.
I have a 9800 pro on my mac g4 (it has a dvi port). On my PC I have 1 GTX 480. I tried using the HDMI to DVI connector but that did not work as 3dvision did not detect my monitor at all. When i switched back to just the dvi cable, everything was fine. I just don't want to have to keep switching my dvi cable when I use my mac.
Will a Dual-Link DVI splitter cable work? Or is there something else I need? Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Have you considered a DVI to HDMI cable from the Mac to the HDMI input on the AW2310? The DVI input on the AW2310 is pretty strict for 120Hz support, needs to be DL-DVI on both ends without any interruption, although you may be able to use a splitter that is rated to pass a DL-DVI signal. Not sure if there are any, but they may be pricey. Can check at www.monoprice.com as your best bet.
