thought i throw my hat in the ring and comment about bf3 3d.

Im using a projector 720p, and after turning the contrast down, i was able to achieve 0 ghosting affect on full depth.

Thank you to the person who showed us how to change convergence. I really like pop out so I put the setting on 7-8...any more i find the gun is too much to the left concealing my view of whats ahead of me....maybe tinkering it down to 6.

Anyway all that can be said that it is really immersive and beautiful...I have evertything set to ultra, on a 570gtx, but i think cos its 720p resolution, is the reason im not experiencing any kind of slow down or anything....everything flows freely.

Only gripe i have is the one in my head...do i play better with 3d or without 3d.....With 3d on, its harder to spot enemies in the distance......but im weighing up whether thats worth dealing with and having the beautiful 3d.

wish i was able to put up the contrast but no biggie at the mo.

Once again thank u to the person who uncovered this.

:)

I also play this game in 3D with a 720p projector but with 2 gtx750 in sli and it´s great! I agree that it is harder to shoot enemies that are far away but it is worth it.
My screen is 3 meters in front of me, but I feel the depth is not very good, what is near seems near, what is far away seems everything is at the same distance. Tell me, what are your settings with renderdevice.stereoconvergencescale and renderdevice.stereosoldierzoomconvergencescale commands?

Cheers,
André

hi,

to answer ur questions.

my stereo convergence is 7.

i put the soldierzoom one to 0....because i dont see the point of havin the scope in 3d..

i have only experimented with these settings for an hour but it looks to be good so far...maybe i will try seeing what the 3d scope looks like.

i have full depth on. I can see the depth alot more than the convergence.

my screen is maybe 2 - 3 meters away too, its 74 inch.

Im gonna try putting the convergence setting as high as I can so i am able to shoot accurately from the hip.....also see if 3d scope is worth it.

Hope i answered ur questions :)

Thanks for your input, but I dont get it...i though one of the commands was for depth and the other for the pop out. So what you are saying is the depth we control it from the nvidia driver settings (I have mine at 85%)? In metro 2033 and the witcher 2, for instance, we could control it from within game, with the "ALT + F3/F4" keys, can we do it when playing BF3?
i´m going to try it now with your settings: convergence: 6 and soldier: 0 and see if I like it.

Hi,

I'm trying to upgrade my system just to play bf3 in 3d. Currently considering gtx590 but can't find the right monitor. Does it have be in the 3d vision supported list? I can only find Acer GN245HQ but I want to have a bigger model like Samsung S27A950D but it seems it doesn't supported by Nvidia and 27" Asus is not available in my country. Should I go with Acer or wait for newer models with 3d Vision 2 and Lightboost?

Another question is, I'm expecting to have minimum 30fps with an average of 40-45 with maximized settings@1920x1080, am I dreaming or can gtx590 handle it?

Thanks.

Wait for more 3D Vision 2 monitors to come out. Also, the 590 should be more than capable of achieving those framerates.

According to test results it gives 73 fps average and something about 50 of min fps(full aa-af, 1920x1200). As I know, 3d reduces performance by 50%, so avr. 35-37 and min. 25-28. I will use 1920x1080 and with a small oc I guess I can keep min fps around 35-40.

I've just read some users managed to work bf3 in 3d with Samsung S27A950D with 3rd party apps. I'm wondering if it gives the same 3d performance of 3dvision.

Anyone know if its possible to disable the 2d plane infront?(Cant explain it well) Its the special effects that make it look like water droplets on a car windshield effect. Its super anoying for me on 3d.(Playing single player)Some people may like the effect but I dont.

I have been eyeing the FALCON for a looong time but never pulled the trigger. I see that they have 3d feedback for skyrim also. How would you rate it with the new games. Id hate to buy it and find it has a steep learning curve. But Id like to know what you think about the product in more detail.

thanks!

It has a very steep learning curve. I tried it out and found it not for me. I think after using it for a few weeks you will get used to it. Its kind of like playing on pc your whole life then picking up a ps3 controller for first time and playing a new call of duty. More so since you got to play with settings and find your sensitivity, via gun motion and recoil.

You can probably get a full unit for like 130 on ebay. It would be much cheaper but they under manufactored the guns. Ive seen units sell for 40-50 bucks and the gun sell for 80+

I am not saying its bad but it def has a steep learning curve and I love how my razer naga mouse has like 15 buttons.

I am trying to play this game in 3d but.... This dirty lens effect in 3d is way to distracting. Searched around for a means to disable but cant find anything. Any1 know anything about it?

I know most people are playing battlefield for multiplayer but I got this game just for single player. I seriously can not play with this effect. 2D people are complaining about it....3D its twice as bad.

Yes people have been complaining about this awful lens flare/lens crap since Day 1 in multiplayer but DICE is an extremely stubborn and arrogant company resistant to change especially if it is something their fans want or think is better. They always feel they know better than their fans because they made the game, which is why the game is in such disarray already. They probably keep it in the game so everyone is at the same competitive disadvantage and only keep it in because the guy with the Afghan thinks its "neat" or something.

I looked into it briefly as well and never found a way to disable it via .cfg or command console. It might be possible to use something like texmod/umod to blank out the texture, or if Helix ever releases his mod tools, to use that and suppress the shader (DX9 only).

Oh well. If the game is never fixed, that just means one less reason to download EA's spyware program, at least until ME3 comes out.

I don't mind Origin too much tbh, its not as good as Steam but its certainly better than D2D, Amazon, or any of the other fringe digital distribution formats. The best thing about Origin is it allows you to register most retail box or digital download EA games made after 2009, which means you don't have to worry about having the disc in or activation issues for those games anymore. They also gave me digital copies of some older games I had like Crysis, Warhead, and Mass Effect so no need to worry about Securom for those games anymore either. Took about 15 minutes over their live chat system and the guy was really helpful.

But yeah, ME3 beta in about a week, that's something to look forward to. Really hoping that game is 3D Vision Ready from Day 1.
