Grainy Texture (Horizontal Lines) When In 3D Mode Samsung 2233RZ 22-inch Bundle
  2 / 11
No LCD, just an old Sony CRT and with the 3D Vision, the images are glossy, beautiful! No issue with horizontal lines at all.

(BTW, your description of the horizontal lines issue remind me of the inherent limitation of the "Interlaced" mode that Nvidia used to provide with their old 3D driver. I don't think they are one and the same problem, but from the description, it made me think of the interlaced mode whose horizontal lines are always visible)

Yes, that sounds like a very good approximation or analogy to this "symptom". It really isn't that bad, but I thought it was worth inquiring about. (You never know when you just missed a setting, something akin to "vertical sync".)

And as for the monitor you are using that sounds cool. I never considered "stepping back" into a CRT. I probably won't seriously consider it, but I suppose there are always trade-offs. :-)

To clarify, I do have two (2) 24" Dell's LCD displays. While they are very good, they cannot be compared to the CRT when watching movies or colors in gaming. The CRT has that particular realistic color rendition that my two Dells just cannot approach.
Thanks for the reply pappmasta. The answer is yes: I can still see it without the glasses. In fact, it is actually "worse" without the glasses -- with the glasses on it is easier to get "used to".

What you are saying makes sense, but I don't think that is the cause. There are horizontal lines even without the glasses, but only in 3D mode. Hopefully it is just a driver issue that can be patched.

Here is another way to describe it: it is as if the images are switching so quickly between the two images that you can actually see the "white light" running across the row of pixels. This extra "white line" on every or every other row of pixels creates this texture look. It isn't just in our imaginations, I swear. I call my wife over every now and again to confirm I'm not just seeing things.
No this is seperate, all i can tell is to stick with the 3d until it gets worked out, cause all the pain you will put your self through will pay off. =)

i know its crazy but what about a reformat?

might give it a try, take ya 1-2 hours and then you will know for sure tis not your fault instead of waiting for patches.

Good idea, and I'm never against a good reformat when needed. In fact, I just re-installed Vista-64 within the last two weeks. I try to keep it fresh anytime I suspect performance issues.

Also: I took the monitor over to my wife's computer and tested it there. So, in effect, I switched out the entire computer!

You know what, this really isn't that bad: I played for a couple of hours tonight and had a blast. Left 4 Dead was fantastic and I didn't notice the effect at all in that game. (It was still there, I checked, but while playing the game is so... well dark and zombie like that this texture issue isn't really an issue at all. It just seems to go with the game and is difficult to see.)

So no big deal. I'm definitely sticking with the 3D, I am having TONS of fun. And this is a kink that will either be worked out in software or in better hardware down the road. In the meantime it is good enough to warrant using it and having fun. I don't want to go back to 2D.

If I have 10 bit color quadro - is the nvision compatible monitors offering 10 bit color or the standard 8 bit color?

Right now I am using crt projector with 20,000:1 contrast ratio, but there are some new digital projectors offering 60,000:1 contrast ratio, just too expensive right now.

I just built my system and am running on a fresh windows installation and I too am noticing this bug. Currently running driver versions GeForce 182.06 WHQL / 3D Vision v182.07 BETA. It is noticeable when in 3D mode, and sometimes sticks when I exit out of a game (I was playing WoW like usual when I noticed it). Looks like horizontal lines, one pixel tall, that have a higher gamma than the rest of the image on the screen. Rebooting clears it up but it comes back when I re-enter 3D mode.

I have just purchased a Nvidia 3d Vision and Samsung 2233RZ 120Hz LCD bundle and I'm seeing the exact same issue that's repeatedly mentioned in this thread. It's not that bad but it's still slightly annoying knowing that you can't see the full resolution of your monitor in 3d mode. It looks like every second horizontal line is lighter/not showing correctly almost like it's using an interlaced technique where you only see half the lines. I've tried this on a Geforce GTX260 and an older 8800GTS I have laying around and they both display the horizontal lines in 3d mode. I'd like to know if everyone else can see the same horizontal lines or is it just a few unlucky people that have this problem?

Are you certain you're running at native resolution? I don't notice this..

I have the same grainy issue with wow. I have tried the 1.07 and 1.08 driver package to no resolve.
My system is Vista 64, GTX295, Samsung 2233 monitor. I have tried all manner of things to resolve it, alsi I even get it when I crtl T to turn it off. Not tried full uninstall and just with video drivers back on. Maybe thats the next option, but if it is ok then, what's the point, cause it will not be played in 3D. Will just eliminate a driver issue that nvidia fail to respond to.

I do believe that you see implementation of monitor dual rendering engine and that this is not good. Because I do not see this on my monitor.
I got top quality monitor (I rmaed one) with almost none backlight bleeding.

I think that if you see interlacing on desktop or lcd test images that you should RMA such a monitor.

Ok this "interlacing look" you know the "lines" that only show up in 3D. Its the monitor lol ok duh.. but theres nothing wrong with it. I talked to tech about this when this monitor 1st came out and its just what happens when in 3D at the higher 100-120. But hay fell free to get it replaced it will come back and have the same effect.

No way. I tested this carefully and I do not have interlaced look.

Se my photos in my complaining thread, there is absolutely NO interlacing look. It is perfect (well ghosting is not perfect of course).
