Well, WoW actually used to look fantastic in 3D when I used the CRT stereoscopic glasses. The real issue was with the inability to make the UI or cursor go 3D (as well as the damage numbers n' stuff.... nametags went 3d). I notice that the last patch that was released for WoW stated that the fully support the new Nvidia stereoscopic glasses... which makes me believe that the full UI would have been adapted to work well with the glasses. That was really the only issue with playing in stereo.

For performance numbers, basically take your existing frame rate and divide it by two. Your video card will need to render 2 frames (one for each eye) where it only needed to do 1 frame in the past.

If you're happy with half the frame rate then you'll be happy with the 3D glasses. Keep in mind that this is assuming that you don't turn down any settings. If you do that, you can probably get faster frame rates.

I love the way it looks in 3d, the only issue is the stupid mouse cursor. Can't they take Z info from wherever the cursor is, and put the cursor at that same depth? The way it is now, you see 2 cursors and have to place the thing you want to click between them.. Enough of an annoyance that I don't play WoW in 3d..

Rendering is nowhere near all that typically happens each frame in a game. The majority of time in a typical game loop is indeed spent on rendering, but there is also a huge amount of time actually managing and updating the entire game, and all of this processing (AI, physics, scripts, sounds, loading assets, etc.), will still only occur once. It should be much less harsh than a divide by two and even nVidia have stated a few times it's not that bad. Taking this as a worst case scenario isn't an awful idea, just keep in mind that this isn't the actual case.

You can actually disable Hardware Cursor from the WioW > Video options menu and then the Mouse Cursor will be drawn at depth! Hope that helps.
