Hitman Absolution - Can't select Stereoscopic option in launcher or in-game menu
8 / 14
seems like the .446 patch disables stereoscopic option for 3D vision. I finished the game with .444 (3D surround); the 3D was fine, with some shadow and light issues, but nothing major.
don't know whether the patch locks AMD's 3D solution or not; if not, it's actually a sensible business decision from IO/Square Enix since HMA is an AMD gaming evolved title after all.

This is actually pretty crappy.
On the game forums nixxes said the game definitely supported 3d vision. Can we revert the game version like we can on Tomb Raider?

OK so I was able to get the 3d options back. What worked for me was clicking Hitman Absolution properties in Steam, choosing Betas tab and switching to the launch version, 433 I believe.
After the download was complete the 3d options were working again.

3D vision works properly in Tomb Raider which uses the same engine. Pressing the button on the IR emitter toggles the in-game setting and toggling the in-game setting switches on & off 3D Vision.

as of .446 version of the game, IR emitter toggle won't work (one eye dark and the other bright).
indeed very much like TR2013, if the 3D is not enabled in the game menu (only through emitter), I'd get the dark/bright result.
They've artificially disabled the Stereoscopic settings for nVidia users in the latest patch. The game is using NVAPI just like Tomb Raider and Sleeping Dogs (3D Vision works fine there and natively too). Even though the emitter is enabled and the glasses go dark in Hitman, the game still renders only 2D. This is because it's using NVAPI and the 3D Vision driver thinks it's a native 3D game and thus runs in quad buffered mode but the game is only rendering 2D.
Someone needs to hack the game and enable the 3D settings and everything will work flawlessly.

I did send a support ticket a while ago. The response was something like, thanks for reporting.
I replied asking if there was going to be an update. They said there were no plans for that.

for sure we can send request hoping that the "Nvidia treatment" in the latest game patch is merely an oversight from the developer...
but if it's intentional, I wouldn't blame IO though, the game IS an AMD gaming evolved title after all.
I anyone is still interested in playing this in 3D steam version. Go to properties of the game in the Steam launcher, select beta and then select the launch_433_1-Launch Day Version.
That will allow you to once again play it in 3D

Seems to be working natively now. I downloaded it from Steam this week, and it works 3D off the bat. It has 3d-specific options in the options too.
But the performance is shocking, at least in the benchmark. I'm getting like 25-30fps with 2 Titans, and that's with the MSAA turned off! Was it always that bad?
