no 3d options in control panel, is it a switchable graphics issue? GT 650M
Good day !
what ive got
HP ENVY dv7-7304tx
3d vision 2, emitter ( and glasses if u want )
sony HMZ t2 - ( http://www.sony.com.au/product/hmz-t2 )
what I want
to play 3d games that are on my laptop such as assassins creed iii and tomb raider in stereoscopic 3d to see through the sonny 3d viewer.
where im stuck
a. cant get any 3d option on the NVidia control panel.
I have launched 3d vision by locating the exe in the installation directory under the folder NV3dvision ( running the setup there ) and
b. I get the following message - Primary displays adaptor does not support 3d vision.
some addition info.
latest drivers installed for the GeForce , the Intel , latest bios ,
to match windows 8 64 bit.
unable to switch off switchable graphics from bios or anywhere else. but have selected use NVidia in the control panel for pretty much everything. including notepad.
have nvidia 3dtv play on trial - few more days so appreciate your quick responses - no pressure.
have seen a few cases on the net where people have used the sony 3d viewer successfully with 3dtv play.
have looked at many of nvidias guides on configuring 3d tv play , but I get stuck when the functions arent showing in the nv confrol panel, or when 3d vision says adaptor not supported , duh!
the sony does nice stereo 3d on the ps3, arkham city was immersive.
I want more out of life !!!

The Sony HMZ-t2 is supported via 3DTV Play, not 3D Vision.
So it requires that you are connected via HDMI.
The 3D Vision emitter will enable 3DTV Play for free as long as it remains connected.(you will not need the trial)
You'll need to make the Sony HMZ-t2 your primary display, in order to use it for stereoscopic gaming.
hi Dman,
yeah its connected with HDMI,
ill worry abt having to/not having to pay for the software in a few days.
I have the hmz t2 connected and made the "main display"
ive gone and even tried this fix for unsupported TV's ( im sorry if this offends NVidia )
http://blog.bagearon.com/2010/11/fix-nvidia-3dtv-play-samsung-3d-plasma-or-other-unsupported-model/
when I run the setup for 3dtvplay I get a 3d tv was not detected. make sure blah blah blah.
I don't get any stereoscopic settngs in the NVidia control panel either.
device manager shows the 3d stereoscopic usb controller all installed nicely.
would die to get this sorted.. been on this for a week
plus if I run the 3dtv serialise thin for 3dtv play software it says that the "primary displays ADAPTOR doesn't support 3d vision. I have a GT 650M which should support both 3dtv play and 3d vision.. HELP

If you are using Windows Vista, 3DTV Play and 3D Vision no longer work starting with 313.
If the Display and the 3D Vision emitter are both being recognized, you will see a (green) Nvidia 3DTV Play logo in the set up stereo 3D control panel.
Nvidia supports the Sony HMZ-t2 so it should work. If you go to the change resolution tab of the control panel, what is listed as your display?
If the HMZ-t2 is not listed, that's likely your problem, go to device manager and uninstall the display driver for it and then reboot.
If it is recognized, try unplugging the emitter and plugging it back in.
Once you get the 3DTV Play logo, you may need to change the format output via the drop down menu if it's set to 3D Vision Discover or something.

What about trying another HDMI cable? Or uninstalling the other monitor and doing a clean reinstall of the NVIDIA drivers with only the HMZ-T2 and the emitter attached? Maybe even try unplugging/replugging the emitter prior to enabling 3D.
The 650M looks like it's capable of 3D but who knows it may be locked out for some reason.

im using win 8 , 64 bit.
I have no set up stereo on the control panel. does this come automatically with the new drivers in a standard situation?
I have no change resolution on the nvd control panel
ive tried unplugging replugging the emitter
ive tried 3 great hdmis 2 of them gold plated apparently.
its funny cuz it shows 2 generic pnp monitors on the device manager and disabling/uninstalling them did nothing, they are back to normal fyi.
done clean installs of the drivers from the oldest compatible , to the newest ( skipping versios in the middle obviously )
should I be giving up ?
It should look like this.

There's 2 monitors when only the HMZ is plugged in? Either way it's odd that they're showing up as generic, shouldn't they be showing up as what they are?

Is 3D Vision listed in the Programs menu, within the Nvidia Corporation folder?
If not, when you're installing the GPU driver, select "Custom" and make sure that it's listed on the install options. Plus choose "Clean Install"
Setup 3D Vision
1. Click on your Start Menu.
2. Select All Programs.
3. Select NVIDIA Corporation folder.
4. Select the 3D Vision folder.
5. Select Enable 3D Vision.
6. Select 3D Vision as the setup that you wish to use; select Next.
7. Connect your IR emitter; select Next.
Please note: Some newer model computers have the IR emitter built into the screen; in this case this doesn't need to be connected.
8. Select the gaming environment that is appropriate; select Next.
9. Computer will now detect 3D device, once this is found select Next.
10. Press the On button on your 3D glasses; select Next.
11. Complete the hardware setup test by following the prompts; select Next.
12. Select Yes or No depending on whether you’ve noticed a flicker in your peripheral vision or not; select Next.
13. Complete the stereoscopic 3D test as advised; select Next.
14. Your setup is now complete; select Finish.

The Sony HMZ-t1 should be listed in the Nvidia control panel in the resolution tab. You need to have it set as the primary display. Do you have power settings set to performance (no idea if that plays into it).
Does the Nvidia GPU have a seperate output connector than the integrated graphics? If so connect to it.
Did HMZ-t1 come with a CD to install the Display driver/inf/EDID?

there are no drivers from the looks of it for the THMZ t2. didn't get a cd either.
ive gone through the design of the laptop, and sadly it seems like the optimus system architecture on the laptop doesnt allow the full functionality of the card,
http://superuser.com/questions/282734/how-to-disable-nvidia-optimus-on-a-dell-xps-15
the NVidia supports the intel graphics from a side, resolutions cannot be changed with the NVidia control panel, and although does processing the NVidia card cannot be made primary. and thus will not function as a say a laptop that only has the NVidia card,, sad but its the case.. the laptops that didn't have optimus that had a manual system had options to turn switchable graphics off or to the NVidia that allowed more things from the looks of it. well the battery lasts well I suppose... will have to stick to the 3d limited ps3 games.. learning the hard way is this... sobs

It seems that Laptops that have both Intel Integrated Graphics and a Nvidia Discrete GPU are hit and miss on whether they support 3D Vision or 3DTV Play due to how Nvidia's Optimus technology works.
The deciding factor seems to be if the Nvidia GPU has a direct connection available for the Display, thus bypassing the Intel integrated graphics.
