Sure?? You only need to read the first mensaje, wrote by Andrew:
"
Hi

As many of you know the Witcher 2 is launching next week and its going to be an amazing game. We have been working with the game developer to ensure the game looks great in 3D."
"We have been working with the Game developer to ensure..." doesn't mean "we are ensuring..."

Just read what they wrote. They worked with the game developer to help him. That's what they did. They did what they could to ensure that the 3D experience would be as good as possible. But they are not responsible for the outcome! In the end it's still the developer who's responsible for the code, not some third party who's trying to help. The developer decides if the code changes suggested by nVidia is included as it is or if there are any additional changes etc.

So you can say nVidia should have made more or better efforts to ensure that the result is better. You can also say that the requirements for the logo are too lenient (I might even agree on that). But you just cannot claim that nVidia lied, as Sandatory insists on doing over and over again. That's just insulting and together with all the other hate just ensures that Andrew will most likely never put his name on the line to give us any first hand information anymore.

While we all wait...forever maybe, I would suggest reducing the separation to minimum and setting convergence from there. You will get most of the outdoor shadows to appear correctly at the cost of the reduced depth. The camera in the game is placed in such a fashion that you can still achieve great pop-out and a visible 3d effect. Yes, again this is no permanent solution, but it is better than sitting and waiting for a patch, which may never come. Alternatively, if you can read Polish, Czech, Portuguese, German, Russian, Lithuanian, French, Spanish, Bulgarian, Ukrainian, Serbian and Swedish, obviously English doesn't cut it this time, you can fill your time with reading the books. Just went through "Baptism of Fire" myself and it was a pretty good one. Only two more to go :)
PS.:
I don't know if the new patch enables the setting of convergence, but if it doesn't you can always try the process disabling trick, which unblocked the convergence with the previous patch.

Man, there is absolutly no reasoning with you. /wallbash.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':wallbash:' /> If nvidia was the victim, why did they let there logo be stamped on the box hmmm? /wallbash.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':wallbash:' /> I would be waiting another "i'll excuse nvidia no matter what responce" but I hgave figured out what you must be, you have to be a troll, either that or I weep for humanity.

Andrew hasn't done anything that hasn't been to benifit himself and nvidia. No help whatsoever that I can recall. I remeber him trying to remedy an issue I once had, and guess what. He couldn't.

ps: to ensure something, is ensuring something. To not understand such a bhasiuc comment brings huge questions regarding you intellegence and/or you understanding of the English lanuage, but then again I still have to go with you bieng a troll.

Grestorn... I'm not quite sure why you continue to defend Nvidia.. They are clearly in the wrong with this issue.
I keep returning to this post in hopes that there will be a fix... Which is most likely never to happen now.. Only to see your annoying posts
defending a company which has clearly let me and a lot of people down with the 3d support with this game. How you blindly keep defending
Nvidia is beyond me.

Before the new patch shadows was not a problem in 3D, but now its unplayable with shadows on ?

Anyone else with this problem ?

Everyone is in the same boat, right now. The "fix" for the sinking 3D Vision boat was just to move the cork from a hole to another. At least CDPR is providing some free comic relief for all our frustration.

Time to grab some Coke and start waiting for The Witcher 2 - Assassin of Kings Super-Duper Enhanced Edition of Glory (I'm 99,99% sure a simple hotfix will never be released just to adress this issue, since it didn't happen for the previous one. After all, "Everything is working fine" according to CDPR). Maybe next year I'll be able to play it.

I'm still not sure if you understand how this works, even though I wrote it a couple of times already...

Again, very slowly:
- Game developer approaches nVidia (or the other way round, doesn't matter) for some assistance, nVidia agrees if they can put their 'the way it was meant to play' logo in the game and also agrees to help them with 3DVision if they're allowed to put that logo on the box, too.
- nVidia works with the game developer on their code. At some point in this procedure, there's most likely a code of the game and the driver which works very well together.
- Game developer and nVidia continues to work on their code, partly together, bust mostly independent from each other.
- At the end, there's a Quality Assurance phase, where the game developer should test the final code against the latest nVidia (and AMD) driver. In a perfect world, the final code is working perfectly with the current drivers. Unfortunately, the QA itself doesn't catch everything and also the code keeps changing during QA so that something that's supposedly already tested and is working is broken by a later change again.
- During that time the box is printed together with the logo. nVidia is still confident, that the game works well with it's drivers and has no real reason to believe otherwise.
- The game is release and we realise that the support is not what we hoped it would be.

Did someone screw up? Yes, certainly. Happens all the time.
Did anyone lie intentionally during this process? Sorry, can't see that.

That's the way I thought it happened.
1) NVidia agreed with the game developer that the 3D was working fine and packaging with logo was approved.
2) Game developer changed something in the code to fix a different issue and 3D got broken.
3) Game developer decides not to redo package design to exclude logo because it is a selling point to leave it there and unhappy customers not knowing the whole story are more likely to incorrectly blame NVidia than them.

I really don't think there is an NVIDIA driver bug at work here.

I changed the witcher2.exe file name to a few other 3D Vision ready titles (dukeforever.exe, metro233.exe, re5dx9.exe), and none of them worked. I also renamed it to foo.exe to test without profiles (that includes both driver level AND 3D vision profiles). Aside from wildly varying convergence settings, the shadows are always rendered at zero depth. That really does point to the game itself, rather than the driver.

Here's a hypothetical scenario:
A) In patch 1.1 & 1.2 CDPR is using the right API to create shadows, but invoking it improperly. This causes a massive performance hit. Disabling the service prior to launching the game, forces the game to use a different API as a fall back, thus improving performance, but rendering shadows in 2D.
B) In patch 1.3, CDPR switches to a different API to fix the performance issues (rather than overhaul the entire engine). The new API draws shadows in 2d, nice and quick. Now we get the behavior of the workaround from (A) by default.

A driver API is a driver API. It will do what its told. A developer has to use it correctly. If there was a driver issue, we would likely see one of the other profiles drawing the shadows correctly, or LOTS of other "3D Vision ready" games with botched shadows. NVIDIA doesn't code their driver uniquely for every application - that would be crazy. They provide application profiles which contain optimizations (both driver level and 3D vision) which can effect things, but by changing the file name - we can rule these out.

Could it be a driver issue? There's a slim chance - but I really doubt it. I figure it's up to CDPR to fix it. And that's not good, because they have yet to even acknowledge it. I suspect they'll just remove the 3DVision Ready logo, and call it a day.

Please, everyone, submit trouble tickets to CDPR. We must try. The game would be glorious in S3D. They will not allocate any R&D resources to an issue that has only a handful of trouble tickets against it. It just doesn't work like that.

Submit your ticket here:
http://www.en.thewitcher.com/support/ (at the bottom of the page)
And email it to them here:
tw2support@cdprojektred.com

You should include your dxdiag.exe output, and at least one screenshot.

I think at this point, I'd be happy if they simply let us turn off the shadows completely.

Both companies are equally to blame from it not working correctly.. What I don't understand is why we don't get more feedback from nvidia of how or when this issue will be properly addressed... Why would nvidia not be pissed with the developers for releasing the game like this with the logo stamped on the box... they should demand them to release an apology to all 3d users and to truly work closely and quickly to come up with a solution.

Nope.. What we get instead is a bunch of being ignored and lack of caring on both there parts.
What I get from this is that us 3d vision users don't really matter at this point in time.

They simply don't care. They seem to only be thinking short run and in that sense, they already have our money, so support seems to be irrelevant to them. They however forget that we make up part of the 'high end' users and are willing to pay alot for the results we demand. At this current point in time they have provided me every reason to change companies next time I upgrade my gpu's. I would have been much better of with ATI gpu's that is for sure.

Check what andrew replied in the drivers section about the witcher:

"We are still investigating whether the bug is with the game or our drivers. If it is with our drivers, we will fix it. But unfortunately the new 3D issue isn't addressed with the upcoming driver and is still visible in the upcoming driver."

so.... forget about it /rofl.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

NVIDIA cares very much about our customers. Our company would have gone out of business a long time ago if we did not care about supporting our customers.

As soon as I have a definitive update, I will post the information in this thread.
