GTA IV - Episodes from Liberty City looks good in 3D?

Sweet-diddly-riffic! I'm not sure I've ever played a GTA game in co-op mode. I may have once or twice on the xbox 360, but I honestly don't remember. It sounds like fun. I downloaded the DLC off steam the second I saw that it was available. I hate the extra space it takes up, but I have plenty of it so it's all good. I really enjoy playing it. My CPU is definitely hindering my FPS. My Q9550 seems to be the bottleneck right now. It's still extremely playable, though. I miss Niko. The new characters are cool, but there was something about Niko that I identified with even though I am probably more like Roman. I seem to be levitating more towards The Lost and the Damned rather than The Ballad of **** Tony. It's cooler being in a biker gang.

Bryan, just OC your Q9550 and you will be fine. I have my QX9650 at 3.8ghz and it runs like a charm in this game. GTA IV takes use of your 4 cores. Just OC to 3.4 or 3.6ghz and I'm sure you won't suffer with bottlenecking.

I have it overclocked to 3.2GHz and that's as high as I could go and keep it stable. I should be able to go much higher based on other people's experiences, but I think I just got unlucky with mine. Soon I will have another GTX 275 and that should make my 3D gaming much more enjoyable. In most games I'm perfectly happy with 30 FPS, but the more the merrier. :) I'd like to get the GTX 470, but that's way out of my budget right now. Perhaps I should start begging Santa. :)

I still think a Quad Core at 3.2ghz should be enough for this game and all other games available if you have a powerfull GPU off course. If you get SLI GTX 480 than you might need to bring it to 3.6ghz or over if you can..

ok i played for an hour or so and i have to say 3d is very good with this game. My pc and this game....not so much. In settings you get real world results as soon as you change a setting, this is nice because you see what does and does not work without reverting back to options everytime. You also get a numerical repersentation of how much vram each setting is going to use on your gc. I use for example 851mb of my 1000mb card, i cant play the game beyond a slide show with this much ram used but at 400mb used gives up to 20fps which i can work with in 3d. the game is completely playable in 2d with high fps but what fun is that. I have not been able to unlock the co-op but i think i need to finnish the first lvl, like no multiplayer when you first started gta for the ps3, you had to wait......................better just be that. One update was dl when i first started to optimize the game more. Mine is a nonsteam version but i may add to my account for the voice chat option. All in all the game is very fun so far. I remember playing the mp on the ps3 when gta was first offered. Me and another guy would fly around in the chopper picking up people. We would take them to the top of the highest building and as we were admiring the view we would push the guy off the roof to his death lol. I never stopped laughing as they fell screaming profanitys at you through the headset. It wil be so much more funny in 3d.

Cravinmild, why you only use 851mb out of 1000??? You can use 950 if you want and so you csan increase some settings, like view distance which makes all the difference. It's important to leave the values at green, I think orange is ok though but red is no good.
I'm using 910 out of 1000 just for the start cause I had one crash in my first attemp trying to run this game, so I don't wanna push it harder until I feel the game is stable.
I feel like that cause the original GTA IV when came up was very bugged, I've never played a game with so much problems like GTA IV. It only got stable for me after Rockstar released patch 3 almost 4 months after game was released.
I really hope this one is better optimized...

Yes, the game looks awesome in 3D, will be a lot of fun playing it this way. I always wanted to plat GTA IV in 3D and with new missions it's even better.

Are you getting good sli scaling in episodes? Original game had issues with sli scaling and performance. I could not get any fps improvement with sli when I tried it last year.
Also shadows on original game were bad.

What kind of framerates are you getting with sli on and off?
Have GTX480s preordered on amazon but don't know when or if I'll ever see them.
