I recently purchased Half Life 2 since it was on sale. When 3D Vision is enabled I get hitching. It's very noticeable when any characters are walking, including my character, and is extremely annoying because this game looks awesome in 3D. Anyone else who owns the game having this issue? I've fiddled with every setting and I can't seem to stop it. Once again it only occurs when 3D is enabled and this is the only game I'm having trouble with. I've attached a link to a short 4MB stereoscopic recording of it (very low quality; side by side/ left image first). If you watch the characters as they walk by you should be able to see what I'm referring to. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

That is frustrating. I have been playing HL2 with no worries. The hitching seems very regular, you have obviously turned off all background processes... Does the HD light flash when this is happening?

Lord, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.

No hard drive thrashing and the FPS are steady at 60 in 3D. It's actually not too noticeable in-game, but it still bothers the heck out of me. Great game, though. I'm loving it in 3D except for the water and the fact that at 100% depth I can't have convergence set as high as I'd like to because the weapon splits too much for my comfort.

No SLI. I'm not sure what's causing it. Probably some issue between my card and and the drivers. I'll just have to live with it. :(

I find the water only gets messy (rendered in one eye) if you enter it. Not that you can avoid entering it at times. The only weapon which bothers me is the machine gun because of the laser sight which draws your attention to, the others seem out of the way and I find I can handle the back of the gun being split. But each to their own.
Have you installed the Cinematic mod? Its a big download but it's quality.

I haven't installed any mods yet. I'm sure I will want to eventually, but I read that the latest update broke most of the mods (including that one, I believe).
