3D Vision, does it worth actually?
  1 / 2
Hi. I've recently bought a 3D Ready monitor, and I was wondering if I should buy a pair of 3D Vision glasses. I've never seen the 3D effect on videogames and I'm intrigated about that, but it seems that 3D Vision is dead now. Nvidia doesn't support it anymore, and there aren't enough videogames actually sopporting 3D Vision compatibility (new releases I mean). But as far I have seen, there are some forums where users are working on patching titles to get 3D, that patches get usually a good 3D effect or is it poor? Thanks a lot :)

3D adds "a lot" of replayabilty to games. You'll find yourself re-experiencing them in a whole new way. Since you already have a 3D Vision monitor, my question would be, why the hell do you not have glasses yet?

3D Vision is NOT dead! - Monitors are still certified 3D Vision and still produced - Glasses are still manufactured by nvidia - Drivers are still created But is NOT the newest thing out there. - Nvidia can't tell a developer to support the tech. They financed a few devs in the past that is true but not any more. The 3D mods are TOP quality! Some of them are even 3D Vision Ready status (meaning if you install the mod you could swear the game was made like this in the first place). - I imagine you saw a 3D movie at IMAX cinema... well imagine that only 1000000 times better. While in a movie not all the scenes are 3D, in a game everything is 3D rendered. You have the ability to tweak the depth and convergence to your liking (meaning you get to configure how the 3D looks like). Besides that everything is "clean". I would say buy a pair of glasses + emitter. Install it and try a couple of games. If you have a game that you want to play first check if is official supported if not check here for a mod: http://helixmod.blogspot.co.uk/ You can always ask questions on the forums and people will try to help you out:)

Is it actually a 3D Vision monitor or a 3D Ready monitor? Make/Model? If you've endured an anaglyph 3D movie at some point in your life and actually thought it was really cool at the time then 3D gaming is definitely for you, be it 3D Vision or TriDef.

ULMB? Light Boost? If it's a 3D Vision Light Boost monitor, it'll be enabled anytime you engage in stereoscopic gaming.

Yeah, Light Boost. ULMB is another name that BenQ uses to denominate Light Boost.

I was a skeptic. I watched the movies and thought... "Meh, what a gimmick". The same nonsense you hear from every gaming know it all that has never actually played a true stereoscopic game in 3d. Then something magical happened. I needed a new monitor, and my favorite online shop had these 3d monitors for cheap with a free 3dvision kit, so I thought what the hell, fully expecting to try it out a couple of times and then casting it aside.. Instead, my mind was blown and my love of gaming got given a much needed shot in the arm and now, ironically I can barely bare to play any game if its not 3d supported. The fact that technology has relatively not taken off and the huge amount of misconceptions and ignorance regarding it abound is one of the great TRAVESTIES of the gaming world. I can never go back and sometimes the thought of being forced too almost hurts. We are extremely lucky there are some passionate and talented people around here keeping it alive. (You listening Nvidia?) Heed this warning....

Once you play a game with 3DVsion or Tridef, you will not play game in 2D. 3D is too shocked,2D look like shit!

+1 what Necropants said The current poor state of 3D Vision is for me one of the biggest mysteries of the world we live in. Every game/card/monitor maker should embrace it, advertise it, support it, and start worrying about where they're gonna put all those moneys :-) Instead ... edit Sergio, if you like it, tell your friends. Who knows, might help...

Even though 3D Vision not officially supported, there is a huge library of great games that were patched to play perfectly in 3D. If you never saw 3D effect anywhere, you will be VERY impressed, believe me. 3D Vision is dying tech due to incoming VR boom. But it wont happen for at least a year or two

Glad you and your friends enjoy it If it's not the case already, make sure you know how to use the Convergence keyboard shortcuts, in the advanced settings. In certain games it makes a world of difference. And keep Depth at 100% all the time. It keeps real-life proportions of distances between objects/planes. Otherwise it looks "funny/flat" (Nvidia default is at 15% !!!)
