When did Vision stop supporting OpenGL?
  1 / 3
I understand before i was using 3D vision - that in the older days it supported OpenGL

does anybody know what version driver was the last working with opengl ?

im aware of GLDirect, having no joy with that

It's true that the old nvidia stereodrivers supported opengl but 3d-vision has never supported it.
Since the introduction of 3d-vision needed an upgrade from winxp to min winvista and a minimum of 8000-series of nvidiacard i suspect nvidia also got an extra fee from microsoft not to support opengl....
Practically it shouldn't be too troublesome for nvidia to include opengl support like in the old drivers since the main job already is done. I'm just "guessing" though. :P

Errr... or NVIDIA just looked at how many OpenGL games are out there and decided it wasn't worth the bother.

There are dx games out there too. Better not bother with those either...
Most games nowadays are dx but a lot of people would love to play some older opengl (for instance id-games) in 3d. As i said, the work is already done but nvidia choose not to support it. The theory with microsoft doesn't have to be true though but is a valid reason. Far more worse things seems to happen today just because companies finds ways to get some "more" income from their products.

The oldest driver available for download is;

CD v1.09(GeForce GPU driver v186.18 WHQL, NVIDIA 3D Vision driver v186.18)
Release Date: 22.06.09

Ive not downloaded it, I suspect it's far to recent to allow opengl

so not only am I after which was the last driver to work with opengl, but also after the driver itself.

I haven't really looked into this due to the fact there are just so few OpenGL titles nowadays for it to really bother me, but I think at least part of this is a somewhat dubious business decision on Nvidia's part not to enable OpenGL support on their GeForce products. Pretty sure their professional products like Quadro/Tesla support OpenGL np, which opens the door for advertised features like quad-buffered stereo and 3D Vision for professional applications and CAD in 3D.

Errr, not to enable OpenGL support? I don't follow? OpenGL does work on my 480 just fine. It just doesn't kick into 3D mode.
