Just checked amazon.com and noticed they have the Optoma HD66 3D ready projector IN STOCK. Now that both projectors are available (ok you'll rather see Bigfoot than an Acer H5360 in stock - but it really has been released) I will buy one of those two. The only question is: Which one is the better one? At this point I really don't know which one is the better choice......

The cases of these two projectors look remarkably similar - so, I'm wondering if the Acer is a clone of the Optoma. but not sure as some of the key specs are different:
The acer spec lists a 200 W user replaceable P-VIP lamp while the Optoma is a 185W P-VIP lamp - but both have the same brightness specs. Also, the Optoma shows a vertical scan rate from 24Hz to 120Hz while the acer is only 50Hz to 120Hz - so the Optoma would be the right choice if you want to watch movies without 3:2 pulldown. personally, I'd probably lean toward the Optoma based on the 24Hz compatibility and the fact the HD65 is a fairly popular home theater projector. Not sure if Acer is new to DLP projectors or if they have other models....
Also - can you help me on one important question, regarding 3D vision capability? If I projector will accept a 120Hz input signal from a PC, will the 3D vision system work with it? I have a BenQ MP776 ST - which supports a 120Hz signal from a PC. I have the projector now and have successfully synced it to my PC at 120Hz.
Logically, I would think that if you can get a 120Hz signal into the display from a PC, then the 3D system should work?? All this talk about driver compatibility and 'officially' supported monitors is confusing....are we sure the HD66 will be compatible?

Both are nice but kind of in a catch 22 situation at the moment. The acer isn't out yet in the US and no confirmation that the HD66 will be certified. It sounds like it would work but i am sure there would need to be a profile for best results (no hacking, fiddling with driver settings).
What do you say Andrew? Is it in Santa's wish list?

I am kind of irritated right now. I just checked the Optoma-page and DID NOT FIND the HD66. The Optoma page gives you only the HD65. As we speak this projector (HD66) is available in the US but the manufacturer doesn't even list it on its own US webpage????
To me it seems the Acer is the better choice at this moment because it is already officially Nvidia 3D Vision certified so you shouldn't have any problems using it in conjunction with your 3D vision setup.

Yeah, I may have bought the Optoma by now if it was certified since I can't find that seemingly non-existent Acer... So I have 2 choices and 2 good reasons that I can't get either. :P
