Found some motivation to have a short second look @ this game:
I have updated the fix in the first post. Smoke is disabled that will kill one eye issues for smoke and dust, you have to live without it. No quick and dirty fix was working here. For anyone who wants to pick it up: its e3d28d4e6b18c2dc-ps_replace.txt (i have disabled the output).
I have added the missing HUD shader fix for the speedometer.
You have to choose CMAA for the Multisampling to kill the remaining eye/light/shadow issues (for the grass for example...) and please disable Moition Blure !! <-- description is updated in the first post here)
The Mirror image is not simply fixable. Wouldnt be the problem but more work to do. Hence i suggest using 3rd person view (that i personally prefere in those games ^^)
DAMN can you remember :-)

hmmm, there is something strange going on here. Prior to any fix, my version of DR2 is absolutely render perfect in 3D without shadows. If I turn shadows off, I even have shadowing at night (yes, that's right, I turned shadows off in-game but still see sign post and road post shadows etc from headlights) and its also perfectly rendered. Smoke, dust (there's loads of it especially in replays) has no issues at all. God rays even look correct to me. Lens flare might be at screen depth, but its not really that noticeable. So it seems your game renders differently to mine which is odd.
I managed to have more time to check out your original fix and my shadows actually seem doubled up and as you move along they split apart. I have a feeling your game renders differently to mine for some inexplicable reason. I have all settings on maximum except TAA off / Motion Blur off. I use MSAA of 8x
My driver version is 416.34 .. Maybe that's the difference (I don't use SLI either).

The nigth was not checked i can quickly do this. But first you should uninstall the fix, uninstall your Graphics driver using DDU and install the latest one....and copy fix Version and use fix Version 1.1....and do not use msaa as i wrote. Cmaa is Max.
Your last Problem with the shadow coming from wrong Stereo flags. You need 4000. Doyou use a different driver profile for this game?ill check some sli things this late evening.

Sorry Losti, I don't think you get what I mean.
Everything renders perfectly in my version except the day time shadows. The only thing that ever looked like it needed fixing from the moment I installed and ran the game was shadows. Everything else just works. Smoke, Dust, Mirrors, god rays and yes, night time shadows which seem to be independent of the graphics "shadows" setting.... It all works perfectly, no fix required. So I am not sure why you are fixing these things which seems to tell me your version runs different to mine if you think they need fixing. The only thing I could come up with was driver version.

OK you mean you are using a different migoto and only set the automatic_mode=1 and than everything is OK?
==> Except Shadows ? And using fix 1.1 the shadows will be OK in depth bout doubled and moving with you? But still in right depth? This happens having no Stereo Flags set and/or the wrong. The fix should set it to 0x00004000 that is working here.
==> Dust/Smoke was not fixed, only disabled in a shader because they render @ wrong depth for me.
The rest (except the HUD) i havnt touched. But using TAA will cause flimmering in the distance for me and usung MotionBLure will static blure the whole scene. MSAA causes shadow glitches and some halo double Images wrong in depth @ plants, rocks, mirrors and so on.
The game was not having a Profile, my fix creates one and add Stereo flags 4000, nothing more.
The Profile in the inspector is than called like the exe file dirtrally2, can you check if you have other dirtrally 2 profiles there?
I am using 417.71. I saw there is a new one (419.17) that have a Profile for Dirt Rally 2.
Your Driver is realy out dated but if you say everything is ok except the shadows....ist worth do have a look here.
THIS MEANS:
-Please post your d3dx.ini here if you are using another one than with the fix 1.1, i want to check something.
-please check the Driver Profile you have for dirtrally2 and tell me what the Stereo flags are set to?
-I am using SLI, this can also be responsible for some issues e.g. the DUST for example. I have to check the game without SLI. This can also be responsible for the effects that are coming from TAA and or MSAA and Motion Blure. Ill sort this out the late evening today.
What SHOULD work is the shadow correction. This is not related to SLI or non SLI. I Guess you have some wrong Stereo flags here.
Ill test the different Drivers too if i sorted out the SLI thing.
Note: The game is also perfect for me except the DUST and the good rays are a Little bit too much in depth. But this also can be a SLI Thing i have to check, or the driver.

I actually had no fix running what so ever originally. Everything was ramped up to max. No 3DMigoto at all or anything and it all rendered pretty much perfectly in 3D except the day time shadows (Which can be completely turned off in game but still leaves me with perfectly rendering night shadows). Dust and smoke looks perfect in replays and when crashing or spinning :)
I did try getting Shadows in both eyes (as they were in left eye only) by installing 3dmigoto and adding the DX10 flags of 0x0004008 but hadn't added automatic_mode=1 so it didn't work and I completely removed it.
So, the only thing that was ever an issue was Daytime Shadows and so I installed your fix to try. I removed the profile I did have via nvidiaInspector (as it got created when I first ran the game as my driver did not have one by default) so that the fix could create its own dirtrally2-3dmigoto profile (which I could subsequently view in nvidiaInspector) and the DX10 flags were set correctly to 0x0004000 in that profile. I could see shadows in both eyes (instead of just the left) which make me believe it read the DX10 flags from the profile correctly and the depth looked OK, but they were double (and probably incorrectly positioned) and then parting as I moved. So, it all sounds very odd.
So, the only time I had / have 3dMigoto or any d3dx.ini running is when I use the fix so it is identical to the one you posted. Being as it didn't work for me with shadows, I deleted the fix / 3dmigoto entirely and just run with Shadows disabled in game and it looks almost perfect (I say almost because there may be glitches I don't notice, but nothing obvious or indeed nothing I can spot).

If Flags are @ 4000 it is OK. May be you want to check 4008 (set it in the ini file not in the inspector this will be overwritten) but i suggest updating your driver and try the fix as it is again. Please use DDU for the Deinstallation.
"depth looked OK, but they were double and then parting as I moved" was an issue for me using NO Stereo flags.
Othewise ill check the things left this evening. But it sounds like a Driver thing

Hey Losti. I don't have anything to zip. I have no fix installed and no 3dmigoto. Dust is perfect and at proper depth NOT screen depth. Shadows in left eye only.
If I install fix exactly as is, remove previous profile from driver, I change nothing else and everything remains the same but shadows are in both eyes doubled up. Check profile in driver and it has created its own 3dmigoto profile with DXFlags 0x00004000 as per fix .ini. So, I just think for some inexplicable reason, my machine is just rendering different to yours. I even went up to latest driver and it is exactly the same.
Therefore the only thing I would be sending you is exactly per your fix. I repeated the above with driver 419.17 allowing the use of the drivers own DR2 profile with exactly the same results.
Don't worry about it, I feel bad that you spent all this time trying to work out the issue when you are trying to avoid all this time spent on 3D fixes. Please, don't worry about it. Its all good. I am just running with shadows disabled and I am happy chappy. Thanks for all the time you spent on this, I really, really appreciate, but don't worry about.

"depth looked OK, but they were double and then parting as I moved" was an issue for me using NO Stereo flags.
Othewise ill check the things left this evening. But it sounds like a Driver thing

- DDU driver 417.35 and roll back to 416.34......DONE..............
- test driver 416.34 ...................................DONE..............no difference (Dust/Fog @screen Depth, Shadows OK)
- test stereo flags......................................DONE..............no difference, (Dust/Fog @screen Depth, Shadows OK or @ screen depth in dependency of the Flags)
- DDU driver 416.34 and use latest 419.17........DONE..............no difference
- test driver 419.17 ..................................DONE..............no difference
==> The Dust/Fog is @screen for me, with every driver i have choosed. The Shadows are well. Do you have any settings int he driver profile or nvidia control palne than standard? than please provide. I was also not able to reproduce the moving but OK depth shadow i have had yesterday......The fix itselfe is working well without Dust/Fog (that is disabled here)....i am wondering why you have problems with shadows but having Dust/Fog in depth, because everything i try, this is ALWAYs @ screen depth.
BazzaLB: Can you ZIP your version that is OK with Dust/Fog and the strange shadow behavior and provide???
