Shadow Complex finally comes to PC... and it's Free!*

It's not a product key. You simply add the exe location as a non-Steam shortcut (and then add the launch line to the "properties"). Now you can launch directly through Steam without launching the Epic client. Doing so, however, means all the cloud data is bypassed (leaderboards, settings, etc). I had to go back into video settings and change the default AA setting each time I launched for example. Those things aren't saved locally. The game save file, however, is saved locally. So it's entirely playable this method.

Thanks for the info. For AA you could probably add that to the game's shortcut or an AutoExec.cfg might work. While I was looking in the registry for the product key, I did see that the Epic Games launcher has a Hardware Scanner, it doesn't seem too invasive.

It looks like it's thee last 48 hours to get it for free... I thought it was a decent game back when I played it on XBLA, it was supposed to be a trilogy but then Infinity Blade happened...
Finished playing it. That really was a great game. Forgot how much I love the Metroidvania genre. Lots of different scale perspectives. Even under the best of circumstance, seems like it'd be a difficult game to get working properly in stereo 3D. I was hoping to find some way to automatically switch between Presets but at the time couldn't and just moved on to something else. It's one thing to hold down a Key for cutscenes it's another to cycle between 2 or more Presets depending on the range of the camera.

Just to inform, since a few days ago I'm working on fixing this game (in DX11). I have fixed around 40 shaders, so there is no going back now :). And I'm liking the game because it's similar to Metroid. This game should be called "Halo Complex", because it has haloing problems everywhere (water, explosions, fog, lighting and more)! Thankfully most of them need almost the same fix. I will have problems with shadows and some lighting, however. I'll experiment more before asking for help, and post some screenshots tomorrow.
Convergence isn't an issue with the constantly changing scales?
No. Just one convergence for cutscenes and another for gameplay is enough for me. Although I don't use super high convergence. I could fix most of what I have encountered. And here is a preliminar version of the fix, if someone wants to play the game now: https://www.dropbox.com/s/5y2qtkhf7ze7hh7/shadow_complex_3D_fix_preliminar.7z?dl=0 If you use high convergence (more or less the character at screen depth), it will be better, because lighting caused by the flashlight is only OK at screen depth for now. Character and object shadows are disabled, and lens flares are in their correct position only with the convergence assigned to F5. Hotkeys: - F1: for cycling the crosshair depth between a bunch of values. - F2: 0 convergence (for testing). - F3: 1 convergence (for testing). - F4: 45 convergence (for cutscenes). - F5: 112 convergence (for gameplay. Lens flares aligned with this).

I was looking at it till I realized just now someone else did it. Oh wellz. BTW play with a controller not with a mouse. No crosshair, just laser sights which is better imo.

Yeah, sorry for not having finished the fix yet. Lighting is important and isn't correctly fixed yet. Shadows are unfixed too. When I finish Ori, I plan on going back to this (not sure if before or after getting my new monitor and Pascal GPU). I don't remember if the fix I've posted here is the most updated version. I'll take a look tonight.

Here's the current state of the fix, packed with the latest 3Dmigoto version: https://www.dropbox.com/s/27a8gr2ghofl7qz/shadow_complex_3D_fix_1.7z?dl=0 You have to enable DirectX 11, and not use antialiasing. In some locations, the water reflection is 2D at screen depth. Flashlight lighting is OK at screen depth, meaning that if you put the main character at screen depth, lighting is mostly correct. Shadows are disabled. Lensflares are mostly OK with the F5 convergence preset. Is it worthy of a Helixmod blog post yet? I'm stuck with the remaining issues yet. I haven't touched this since February until today. I wouldn't like releasing a fix with these issues, but all haloing problems (but one with an effect at screen depth) are solved, among other things :/.

Just so everyone knows, 4everAwake has fixed the remaining issues. I'll post the complete fix in the Helixmod blog soon (tomorrow, probably), but if you can't wait to try it, here it is: https://s3.amazonaws.com/4everAwake/3Dmigoto_Shadow_Complex_Remastered.zip What he fixed, in his own words: - Shadows & lights - Most water reflections (there's an area where the water reflections on walls look a little incorrect) - Moved bloom & lensflares to a fixed depth and they will adjust when you increase or decrease convergence Also: - I placed a 2nd convergence preset on the F5 key - I also placed a low convergence preset on the Xbox Controller 'B' button. When you hold this button down while performing a melee action, the convergence will lower when the camera zooms in. Thank you again, 4everAwake :). You have saved me :p.
