That's great. But, that's not what I was talking about at all. The mod here knew that the 3D was broken and because of a non-disclosure agreement he made (the unethical part), he had to wait until after release to tell us.
Is that so? I had the impression that Andrew was as supprised as the rest of us when BF3 was released without the 3D support, since he was told and they even tested a version including the suppot before.

3DTV Play still uses Nvidia's auto-stereo driver, and NOT DICE's native stereo 3D implementation with Frostbite 2. I have no doubt the lighting issue will be fixed once DICE releases the S3D patch, as there's no way I could see them releasing S3D with those kind of bugs or Nvidia giving that a 3D Vision Ready rating. So yes, I think your best bet is to wait for the 3D patch before worrying too much about the bugs you're seeing now.

Hi,
what I want is an official answer from Nvidia or DICE... When I ask Dice they answer that there is no official 3D ready mention on there product and redirect me here. Nvidia is claming that BTF3 is "3D ready" so I come here to see what is going.
ps: At this point there is nothing about 3D support in next BTF3 patch, so if Nvidia and Dice could have the same com about it, it would be realy beter.

That's the impression I got as well. One can choose to give a person a charitable read or look for the worst in their statement. Now if a guy labors to communicae here on the forum day in and day out, that tells me he deserves a chartiable read of his statements.

I think EA/Dice warned Nvidia that S3D might not make the launch build and as such, told them not to promote 3D Vision for BF3 at any of their events (GFLan6) or online prior to launch for damage control purposes. As bad as the reaction has been in this thread and elsewhere, imagine if they had been promoting and promising stereo 3D in the months leading up to launch!

Hi, if you read the thread or just filter replies by AndrewF (Nvidia Product Manager for 3D Vision), you will see Nvidia's official response. 3D Vision will be supported when stereo 3D is patched into the game client by EA/DICE. I know its a bit hard to find that message because of all the other noise in the thread, but that's where we stand right now.
I linked this earlier, but DICE is handling stereo 3D natively in the Frostbite 2 Engine. They detailed their intentions at GDC earlier this year, so if someone at EA directed you here its probably because they just aren't familiar with the situation. There was an in-client Stereo 3D option that worked briefly in Alpha, was disabled in Beta, and was completely removed for Retail.

As far as i understand, you create a image for the left eye with all effects, shader, lightning and another one for the right eye. No third party software is involved in process, in opposite to the current workaround which is using the nvidia software. Should it be a problem for the game engine to create those images? In my opinion not, in the worst case you just need around twice the hardware power to get the same frame rates.
Let's take a look at the sales of the game
http://www.vgchartz.com/weekly.php
BF3 is far behind MW3 and this with the beginning of the first week.
So i can only think of two scenarios.
Scenario A: Not enough time
The poeple at EA/Dice knew very well that the game had to be launched before MW3 at any cost, so they don't loose potentional customer that would otherwise just went with MW3.
Therefore it was necessary to focus only on the importend tasks and pause everything else, stereoscopic 3D therefore was optional.
Scenario B: Increase the sale rate
Why buy BF3 for PC it looks excellent on every platform and is there really any difference? Of course this is not true if you inform yourself at different gaming sites.
But what impression do i get from the official pages?
http://www.battlefield.com
FAQ: Section i don't see the question "What is the differences between the PC version and the console version?"
Buy Now: For PC i don't see that the 64 player mode is exclusively for the PC version, or other benefits.
http://www.frostbite2.com/
Oh look there is even an video that compares PS3 PC and XBOX, do you see any differences? Even in 'high quality' the look seems to be the same.
So go ahead and buy the game for the console! Don't get me wrong it sure looks also awesome at XBOX and PS3 i don't doubt it and to run it on PC you also need a hell of a machine that costs way more than those console's.
Does everyone got his console version? Yes? Very good than we go to the next state operation 'pushing the PC version'. In a few weeks close before x-mas we will see AWESOME STEREOSCOPIC 3D advertise in FULL HD of BF3, which will be compared to the 'bad looking' console version. Aw man, my nerd hearth get's already exited by just typing that ;-)
Now what do you do, if you only have the 'crappy' console version? Of course! You buy the much more awesome PC Version that has full HD, anti aliasing, and awesome ****ing steroscopic 3D and many more!
In my personal opinion i think it was scenario A, but i think atleast one of them or maybe both are true. But thats just my opinion.

Think there is a good chance 3d support will be in the patch next week, im also in surround (tripple screen) without the icons above the solders so no idea who is friend or foe lol !
Surely they see it ass a fairly high priority ? 3d vision was even in the beta
If there is no 3d or surround vision fix then think I'll be after a refund not sure about the chances of that?
When the game is complete I'll consider buying it then.
Any new releases in future ill be holding off checking forums etc as buying an incomplete game causes more irritation than its worth, think its got worse over the years too.

3D Vision wasn't in the beta. I couldnt activate it and as far as I know none could.
@Croax, not sure how much the consoles played a part in the decision to postpone, could be either way really. One of the main benefits of handling 3D natively by the game engine is that the 3D is platform/IHV/ISV agnostic and isn't limited to any 1 solution. For example, DICE may very well support stereo 3D on the PS3 (if the hardware can handle it) also along with both 3D Vision and AMD's HD3D on the PC. Avatar the Game did this a few years ago and to-date its still one of the best looking examples of Stereo 3D imo, so hopefully BF3 delivers in a similar fashion.
Stereo 3D is just very low on the priority list for any platform right now, so if a feature is going to get cut or pushed back, its going to be near the top.

Unfortunately no, stereo 3D is still pretty low on priority list, but more and more devs are making the effort to make their games 3D friendly. Sometimes it takes a post-production patch after launch to get things right, but there are quite a few games that have patched in 3D Vision support/fixes to make them excellent a few months down the road. Its just one of those things we have to make a decision on, but like you said, IF 3D Vision is the primary deciding factor for whether or not you will buy or enjoy a game, then its best to wait and see what the 3D Vision support is like before buying it. If you can live with it playing in 2D either way, then go ahead and buy first, hope its patched later.
As for getting a refund, chances are actually pretty good from what I've read if you pre-ordered from Origin. If you contact EA/Origin and go through their live chat system, people have been getting refunds (and posting about it on the Battlelog forums). Most of the people receiving refunds are the ones who have not been able to play much since launch due to client crashes or connection issue, but I'm sure if you expressed your dismay about 3D support you would have a pretty good shot at getting a refund.
But ya Stereo 3D option toggle was in the Beta, but did nothing, but it did work in previous builds...just not a high priority for launch.

A detailed look at Squad refinements
Today's PC client patch features numerous tweaks to Squad functionality and is part of our ongoing efforts to make it easier to play with friends and Platoon mates. These changes will also be implemented for consoles when we release the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 updates shortly. Stay tuned for the exact date of the console updates.
First, we need to look at how joining with Squads and Platoons affects the balance of teams. Initially, servers are commanded to equal out each side, so joining with friends can impact that balance while joining with Platoons further hinders this. As a result we have made some adjustments to the in-game Squad management screen.
For PC, you are now able to highlight the various Squads and select which one you wish to join by selecting a Squad and then clicking the Join Squad button. Please note that the Squad Privacy option still allows 2 man Squads which, during 64 player sessions, can lead to players with no squad position –- the number of people with no Squads will be shown at the bottom of the Squad selection list.
After the patch is applied to consoles (in the near future) you will be able to join Squads by cycling through the list and selecting which Squad you wish to join.
Playing single player now in 3d looks amazing. I have SLI 580s, game would run a solid 60fps if the gpu usage would stay on 90%+, but they drop down to 70% occasionally which drops frames down. This happens in batman city aswell, need a fix nvidia.

Quite frustrating

-- A detailed look at Squad refinements
