VIEWSONICE PJD6211 (PJD6220)- SET UP PROBLEMS CANNOT GET IT / THEM TO WORK ?

one other thing...
even Viewsonic claim that it is "game 3D ready"......which roughly translates as compatible with the Nvidia solution as your 1st to market and have the real only viable solution.

I have spoken to Viewsonic UK sales director, ...who informs me that whilst they are marketed as "3D ready" and compatible with the Nividia 3D Vision solution, Viewsonic are ..."wating for a firmware update to be issued to them from Nvidia"
I queried this, surely he meant a Driver / Patch update to the community, but no, a projector firmware update to the PJ itself, which Nvida are supplying. ?.....................ETA > September !!!!!
But surely, if the PJD6220 & PJD6210 are compatible with 3D vision, surely then so must PJD6211 ?....THEY Are
after all essentially the same PJ ?

I had PJD6211 working but decided to sell it pretty much based on I couldn't sit the projector where my TW2000 Epson 1080P projector was and get the image to fit correctly on my 110" screen.
Probably more my fault as I just assumed I could adjust it the same as my 1080P projector and have in similar spots which is about four and half meters away from the screen.
What I did to install it was I had a DVI to VGA cable, not adaptor this cord actually has DVI on one end and VGA on other.
This went from the back of my GTX260 OC Gigabyte card via DVI to VGA on the projector using Windows 7 64bit and Geforce 1.09 graphics/3d driver CD.
I could always set 1024x768 120hz even on the desktop no problems, but when setting up 3D I would select CRT for the 3D screen component of it.
I did not use a driver disc for the projector and it came up as generic pnp in monitor, I don't think the driver disc that come with the projector did anything for me so skipped it.
Nvidia control panel did say PJD6211 I'm pretty sure but system devices / monitor showed generic pnp monitor.
The projector I didn't have either 3D synch turned on or the 3D invert option in the projector menu settings.
Well it did work for me fine and I only ever tried Tomb Raider and Street Fighter 4 and some 3D field sequential movies like SOS, Encounter in the 3rd dimension, Alien Planet etc.
Sorry can't tell you more on gaming but I was pissed how I would have to have it setup due to not being able to position the projector correctly without basically being beside my couch on a little table which was never going to work just for a crummy 4:3 picture, so packed it up and sold it and will await the future where I can get at least a 1280x720P 16:9 picture quality :)
PS: The 2 games I tried just didn't seem to give correct 3D stereo to me compared to my Plasma but I didn't play around with depth and convergence etc that much, also the 3D invert option on the projector just didn't seem to do anything for me either but I thought it would be like on my Samsung Plasma that works with Nvidia 3D vision where there is mode 1 or mode 2 to change left => right synch or right => to left synch. The 3D synch just seemed to not to do much whether it was on or off either. hmmm not sure GO.
I can say the movies were pretty damn cool with SOS having that Octopus tenticles come popping out and the little robot at the start of alien planet was half way across the living room as well and other moments obviously, for the movies I changed the layout menu option in Nvidia's Stereo movie player option I think to right to left option.
Will stay with my Samsung Plasma 3D for now and 2233RZ 22 inch, but hurry the hell up with big screen 3D already the bigger the better it works :) you know just like IMAX oooo yeh.
Also I didn't have any issues using the Viewsonic projector like many others have reported in this forum with blue tinge in one of the eyes or various other issues mentioned and the 1024x768 resolution not sticking for games.
Just on that loosing synch when changing resolutions has anybody seen the menu option on the projector to turn auto sensing of the signal on and off and tried that?
I'm pretty sure I had auto synching on and I did try it with off as well, I think I just left it on in my case and I would see it flick between the sources but when it come around to the DSUB 1 connection again it would stay on.

We need to dig into this a bit more. ViewSonic does owe a firmware update to us to fix some issues. We werent aware they were selling some of these models yet.

So does Viewsonic PJD6211 actually support 3D Vision already or not, because I do have plans for getting one of these units in very near future?
Or the problem is only that it has to be used as a CRT display instead of getting it recognized by the drivers as a compatible DLP projector?
A very big thank you to Bullripper and Andrew for your help with this.
I am endevouring to get this swop for a PJD6220 to remove any uncertainty about the PJD6211 being compatible.
I will continue to try and resolve / investigate this issue though.
Bullripper, did you use the Nvision setup wizard ?......did it detect the PJ or did you simply say you had a CRT as mentioned ?
I'm told that if it doesnt detect a 3D device then it simply wont sync. with the glaases ?
But i am with you re. the 1280x720 res....i just want an Imax in my living room !
i will buty a DVI>VGA cable tomorrow and give that a go.
Nvidia 3D setup never detected the screen as a 3D compliant screen, you right I just used CRT in the drop down menu instead.
I have seen these forums someone had the PJD6220 screenshot showing it was detected as a 3D screen, I am unsure does it do anything different if it is recognized or not?
I always assumed using CRT or a recognized screen just both used 3D Pageflipping mode and you selected the HZ setting appropriate to your screen so these projectors should just be same as using 2233RZ monitor.
I didn't have any issues with sync of the glasses, maybe if your having issues with the setup just fudge your way through it as I think I never got the hexagon triangle test working correctly but just guessed my way through it.
Than try the Nvidia Logo test where you can select the resolution and refresh where I did have 120hz option and tick that box that says use for all games.
Good luck.

I have spoken to the Technical manager at Viewsonic UK.
He has informed me that they are going through the “Certification Process†as the PJD6211 , PJD6221 & PJD6381, have new Texas Instruments hardware, and differ completely to the older, 6210 & 6220, which I wrongly assumed were simply EU/UK territory model No. re-assigns.
He did state the delay is on the part of Nvidia, but I guess he was obliged to say that.
But he did reiterate what I had previously been told that the ETA for this to be released was End of September (09) and it would be Nvidia driver updates and not PJ F/W.
So, to cut a very long story short, These new Viewsonic PJ’s are NOT currently compatible with the Nvidia 3D vision system.
Now, the question I ask my self, do I wait or return to the re-seller ?

This is very interesting.
I'm wondering what the new TI hardware is and if it will be any better than that of the pjd6220 which seemed to have problems with 120hz. Even when it did sync properly, there was terrible rainbowing and a dull/soft image with blue ghosting in one eye.
I'm keen to know how you get on with this as there is a complete lack of other solutions for big screen gaming with 3d vision system here in the UK.
Pele, you might want to have a word with the people you bought the PJ from. Without wanting to sound negative.....but by the time the drivers are released to support your projector you will have owned it for more than 30 days and technically the reseller is not obliged to offer a refund after this time unless you can prove it is faulty.

I have this morning sent back both the Nvidia kit and PJ as your absolutley correct, what if i wait for 6 weeks + only to find that they are actually faulty and my refund entitlement has expired !
I am very disspointed with this exprerience,....there are 100's of Tech. sites ALL claming that the new Viewsonic PJ's (PJD6211 / 6221 & 6381) are all "out of the box" compatible with the Nvidia kit. (one only has to Google the PJ's)
They are obviously not making this up, so are clearly being feed information from somewhere, and that somewhere is not the end user !!!
There is going to be a lot of disappointed gamers over the next month or two as the uptake on the new PJ's increases !!!
I will return in 6-12 weeks , all things being equal, with a review.

I got invited up to London to have a demo of the depthq by the UK distributors. They said I could bring my rig up and play some games which was nice of them. Only two problems with this though, London is a 5 hour drive and at the other end lies a £6k PJ which i will probably want!
I just get the feeling if I buy this then not long after some company will release a 1080 3d pj for half the price. I called Optoma last week and they said they will have "something" available in the new year but could not give me any more info.

yep....6k would buy the missus quite a nice little car.
It IS a silly amount of money for an entertainment "toy" but would still be interesting to see what it's like.
If I go up....I'll report back here.
Today though I'm investigating how much time/space/money a polarised setup would cost.

Or the problem is only that it has to be used as a CRT display instead of getting it recognized by the drivers as a compatible DLP projector?

At this stage would have to say no.
The consensous of opinion seems to be that until a firmware patch or new Nvidia drivers are released it will not sync. or work.
That said, Bullripper does seem to have been able to get it working...something i am still unable to do in spite of now 15 hours of trying !

Good luck.

Ok, last update in this.

Thanks again for your help with this.
Big thank you to all who helped.

Update.
I can since i downloaded the new cd 1.10 drivers use the Stereoscopic movies player with the movies samples from the Nvidia site.
I am going to get hold of some more 3D movie contenet and try.
Alas, i still can not get games to sync. The render simply does not sync with the PJ.
Looking forward to the completion of the certificaton process and driver update.

I just get the feeling if I buy this then not long after some company will release a 1080 3d pj for half the price. I called Optoma last week and they said they will have "something" available in the new year but could not give me any more info.

dont do it.
you know if you go you will not be able to resist putting your hand in your pocket,..which is exacly what i would probably do.
My advice, steer clear, unless of course a mere £6k is not a large chunk of cash.
me.....i think i'd be getting a divorce !
good luck
p.s if your not using your ticket .........!!!

It IS a silly amount of money for an entertainment "toy" but would still be interesting to see what it's like.
If I go up....I'll report back here.
Today though I'm investigating how much time/space/money a polarised setup would cost.
