@Nvidia ..why no Side By SIde or Top/Bottom output mode?

If you implemented the option to display in SBS or TB mode this would finally allow me to live Stream with your Drivers. currently, I use other drivers to do so.
Any thoughts on this as being a possibility in the near future?

Its really necessary with the launch of the Occulus Rift. Many titles will be supporting the Rift. While the rift is only HSBS its just as easy for a developer to support fsbs (just a different resolution). I truly believe this is a necessary feature that will help gain more 3D Vision Ready games/non sponsored developers/users.
Though Id like to go out on a limb and request support of the rift all together. Though to be honest I can understand why you wouldnt on that one (low resolution doesnt sell cards)
I understand that as of now you been making deals with certain manufactors to support 3D vision only on their display and perhaps you see SBS as a "backdoor". This is not working! This will just make manufactors of monitors consider making standard non 120hz displays. As of now people are buying a display they find doesnt work and just getting amd or staying 2D. Samsung released a monitor, and they didnt pay for support. You cut them out and all the users who got jipped went amd. People buy a 3D TV/Monitor they dont think about if it works with 3d vision/tv play. Cutting out these users is just costing you in the long run.

For the many passive 3DTVs out there, SBS and hSBS are a much better solution than the (costly) 720p 3DPlay. Most people prefer to spend the extra money on TriDef's solution - and quite a few will offset that cost by buying a cheaper Radeon, since nNivia's so-called "native 3d-support" saves them nothing.

For me, It's about increasing the flexibility of the drivers. This opens up far more possibility's and allows future hardware, like the Oculus Rift, to easily integrate with Nvidias drivers.

would be fine first with SBS Half Res at 60 too(as it has to start somewhere).
And thnx for supporting the ST1080 with 3DTVPlay.
Just adding my voice to the request for SBS.
I am currently using an AMD HD6990 via tridef for 3D but have 2x GTX680 on the way and have already purchased 3DTV Play.
Having tested frame packed 1920x1080@30hz already, its just a tad too laggy (looks fantastic admittedly). 1280x720@60hz frame packed plays great but doesnt scale well to a 1920x1080 native panel so looks decidedly blocky. 960x1080@60hz (SBS) is the best compromise for quality visuals and playability for my HDTV.
SBS would be greatly appreciated (although having seen this request being ignored for over a year, I don't hold out much hope, but being as Checkerboard support seems to have been recently included, I guess you never know your luck)

I have a Visio 3D32 monitor (Passive glasses) and use 1920x1080 res. I had to use a work-around but all is good for the moment. If I hadn't found a way to do full res I would have switched to something else, perhaps AMD with Tridef or ?
SBS would require me to fiddle with the TV remote every time I wanted to play a game. But it should be supported anyway because it would open up all manner of experimentation. One can hope.
I am the customer. I am always right. And I am always looking for something better!!! (Something NVidia should keep in mind :-)

It is strange how they included Checkerboard and not the 3d options that are actually being used by the majority of 3dtv gamers.
There are only a few 3dtv's with checkerboard and the only tv's in the uk that support checkerboard are top of the range sammys and lg i believe nowadays so checkerboard was a pretty useless addon as only a small group use it, a much much bigger group would use sbs on o/u
Nvidia you really do need to step it up or get some new blood into management as the 3d option you have treated us too is pretty weak tobe honest.
Imagine if you'd of put sbs o/u out instead of checkerboard, the internet would be aflame with the chants of nvidia !
Sadly all you have with releasing just checkerboard on it's own is a party that hardly anybody will attend.
Just release 3dtvplay with all 3d options that come with 3dtv's wether passive or active, i'm sure this would boost your sales of 3dtvplay by quite alot, people do'nt want to buy a suckerpunch from nvidia when tridef has all the 3d options freely avialable.
3dtvplay looks extremely bad at 720p on a passive 3dtv but looks ok on a active set, wether thats a 47" or a 80" screen
Edit
Just seen a typo.
checkerboard is good for lg/samsung users as now they can finally get a 1080p type image.
Still passive 3dtv's demand interleaved for there 3d to get the best gaming experience, i belive doing this though may push more people towards passive 3dtv's due to the zero added input lag for interleaved 3d possibly ??
Compare an active in 3d and a passive in 3d using interleaved then you have a active gaming input lag of nearly twice or more than what it is in 2d ;)

+1 SBS/TB.....
I have a LG Passive 3DTV and the Checkerboard mode dont look so good. Checkerboard on a passive looks a litle blurry and dark (720p FP looks way better and none input lag, even enabling almost all post processing features in the TV)...I try some games in native 1080p SBS on this TV (like Trine 2, Doom 3 BFG, Sonic generation) and looks amazing!! with none input lag.
Also have a 2010 Samsung Active 3DTV, ...Checkerboard looks better than 720p FP on this TV.....but still 720p FP (LG) looks a little better than 1080p CB (2010 Sammy)....The LG model have a nice rescaling script with 720p. But again SBS content on the Active looks amazing as well, with minimun input lag...(i do some quick test in the Sammy 2012 line and there a lot of improvement then 2010 line....and at least the TV i test dont have CB mode...so CB mode is useless for those users).

Hey GUys, what drivers enables official 3DTV Play's checkerboard support? I'm still using 306....
This is great, since I'll no longer require to use Rollermod on my Samsung 2010 Plasma 3DTV to enable CB support. I've always wanted to have the possibility to choose between 3DTV Play or Checkerboard at the same time in the NV control panel, since I require 3DTV Play for bluray3D playback and Checkerboard for 1080p 3D gaming. I know the quality isn't as sharp as FP 1080p24hz mode, but we can't play games at 24fps, and CB 1080p60hz looks much better than ugly scalled FP 720p60hz.
I would like to request Nvidia to bring back the Generic CRT mode in the newer drivers to come, cause my Samsung 2010 3DTV also supports frame sequential mode, so I can play games in 1080p30hz (full resolution per eye).
I prefer to play games in Frame sequential mode, 1080p30hz (full resolution per eye), than Checkerboard 1080p60hz (half resolution per eye). 30fps is OK for quite a few games, but I woudn't say the same about lame FP 1080p24hz. Checkerboard is a good compromise of quality and performance, cause it uses native 1080p resolution, but it lacks sharpen image, while FS mode has the best quality, even better than FP mode. Frame Sequential mode is the native 3D mode for 3D Vision, it's the best one for monitors and also a few HDTVs.
Please Nvidia, give me back Generic CRT mode, many Samsung 3DTV owners could benefit from 1080p30hz. Frame sequential mode is the best quality 3D with good frame rates for a 3DTV, but only 2010 Samsung TVs and few 2011 ones I think support this mode along with Checkerboard. Many console games run at 30fps.

I am really loving the support for this idea, so a big Thanks for everyone contributing to this thread. I do hope Nvidia will in the very least look into this. I think they will find that this can open the doors for more people to view 3D content. I look at my 3D live stream that I have on TwitchTV and can't imagine how many more people will start doing this if their drivers allow SBS or TB mode. Who knows, maybe in time with Nvidias drivers people will be able to watch 3D Video game content live.
If enough people supporter this then maybe Nvidia will start to consider it, everyone will benefit in the end. I believe that 3D as a whole will benefit and this could help open doors instead of closing them.

You must not remember the old thread that had dozens of pages of posts, was on the front page for over a year, and never got a single reply from nvidia.
The short and long answer is that the nvidia drivers exist solely to drive people to buy their 3D hardware. The only exception being 3DTV Play, which, surprise, you have to pay for. If they gave us SBS mode, all non-nvidia 3D hardware would work, and there would be no reason to buy the crazy expensive glasses kit. Just add SBS to the list of basic things we'll never see, because nvidia is hellbent on monopolizing the 3D ecosystem for a quick buck, while being completely ignorant to the fact that they are pissing off their most loyal users and holding back the progress of stereoscopic entertainment.

Supcaj,
You have a good point there. Coudn't agree more. I think for any company in a capitalism system, profit and money comes first, always. I also agree that Nvidia should look beyond that point, cause more people will start aiming at 3D and it may become mainstream someday and considering Nvidia's 3D Vision is by far superior to Tridef and AMD 3D, more people will by Nvidia cards and they will make more money than ever, cause you need a Geforce for 3D Vision support, there's no way you can do that with an ATI card. VGA's is their main product, they should focus on that, not just having to sell their 3D Vision glasses for 3D Vision support.
I own an unsupported S27A950D monitor and because Nvidia has ditched the Generic CRT mode, I must use a workaround to enable 3D Vision. I still buy only Nvidia cards, and I have my 3D Vision receiver connected to my PC although I only use Samsung 3D glasses, as 3D Vision's glasses don't work with my monitor, but it's not enough for Nvidia, as the display also needs to be 3D Vision Ready and pay a license to them for 3D Vision support. So, Nvidia does everything in their power to avoid anyone from using an unsupported monitor, even if it's perfectly capable of running 3D Vision games at 1080p120hz frame sequential mode like the Samsung S27A950D.
Its a pity how Nvidia really tries to monopolize 3D gaming, but I kind understand that, cause if it wasn't for Nvidia developing the 3D Vision system, maybe we woudn't be playing games in 3D nowadays. AMD never really cared about 3D, and their AMD 3D system is still light years behind Nvidia and it only came up this year and it lacks most games support, and Tridef is a much inferior software compared to 3D Vision in many aspects. 3D Vision is really beyond comparision, and Nvidia knows that, and that's why they try to monopolize their 3D technology I guess. Any other company would do just the same in my opinion. I don't agree though, but maybe if I worked at Nvidia I would think diferently, or not.

Yes it does seem extremely unlikely, but I am not sure why TriDef is considered light years behind? It seems to work nicely on most of the titles I have tried. Skyrim looks great and I can run it SBS. Now I might be switching to nVidia, I will be stuck with laggy or blocky for 3D. I guess selling their cards isn't enough.

If enough people supporter this then maybe Nvidia will start to consider it, everyone will benefit in the end. I believe that 3D as a whole will benefit and this could help open doors instead of closing them.
