To specify its an LG C6 4K OLED. ARe you saying I wouldnt be able to get 1080p 3D? or are you saying I won't be able to get 60fps?
A LG C6 is one of the best 3D displays you can get, supporting up to 3840x1080 pixels per eye at 60 Hz. Some of the more recent DX11 games at helixmod.blogspot directly support TaB 3D format (better than SBS for passive TVs), while an EDID override provides broader support. Would this drivers bypass the need for 3D vision. Sounds like I have a lot of research to do into this
is there a complete guide on how to get 3D to work in games?
And which games would they work on? Is there a list? I assume not every game has 3D support. In fact I always thought Witcher 3 didn't support 3D since I see no option in the menus

For understanding basic things first:
For playing in 3D you need the steresocopic 3D driver from Nvidia in any case. By default it's already installed on your system because it's bundled with the Geforce driver. However depending on the type of 3D display which is used the driver automatically outputs the signal in an appropriate 3D format. Nvidia gave each 3D format a marketing name which I explain now:
3D Vision: This outputs the 3D content frame sequential with 120 hz. It's meant to be used with active 3D monitors which must be 3D Vision certified. You need the 3D Vision Kit for using it (Nvida shutter glasses + emitter)
3DTV Play: Is meant to be used with 3D TVs. Afaik it works both with passive 3D TVs (like the one you have) and active 3D TVs. It's restricted to 1280x720p @ 60hz. A few weeks ago Nvidia decided to offer 3DTV Play permanently for free. Formerly you had to unlock it for 30 dollars or so. So for the beginning it's the easiest choice for you to enter 3D and should be what the Nvidia Control Panel offers to you by default. You can use the 3D polarised glasses which were bundled with your TV or you can buy compatible ones for a few bucks.
Optimized for Geforce: It's meant to be used with passive 3d monitors which have to be certified by Nvidia. It does NOT restrict the resolution to 720p like 3DTV play does. So it's the best choice for passive 3D. Our community found a way to unlock "Optimized for Geforce" mode for passive 3D TVs, too. This procedure is called "Edid Override". We trick the Nvidia driver by telling him that we have a certified Nvidia monitor. You should use this trick when you want to have the best 3d quality on your TV (a little bit more advanced to get this working)
And which games would they work on? Is there a list? I assume not every game has 3D support. In fact I always thought Witcher 3 didn't support 3D since I see no option in the menus
The list of supported games is here: http://helixmod.blogspot.com/2013/10/game-list-automatically-updated.html (approximately 740 games). These games were 3D fixed by this community.
Easiest way to install those fixes is to use 3D Fix Manager. It offers a one click installation of these fixes.
So what should you do to make 3D work?
[olist]
[.]Install 3D Fix Manager[/.]
[.]Select a game in the list and click on "Play 3D" button[/.]
[.]If 3D isn't set up yet and a dialog pops up complaining about this then click on button "Quick Setup"[/.]
[.]If the 3D fix isn't installed yet then confirm the dialog to let the fix being installed automatically[/.]
[.]In game options set the resolution to 1280x720. 3D should kick in now.[/.]
[.]Play[/.]
[/olist]
If this is working you can try the EDID override trick to make "Optimized for Geforce" work. But as said I would try 3DTV Play first which should be the default option Nvidia offers to you.

Yes, a C6 works great with 3D Vision, preferably using EDID override to activate Optimized for GeForce mode in native 3840x2160 resolution (joker18’s EDID also supports HDR, if a game enables it). I am using E6 for my display, with EDID override, 3DVisionEye Swapper (to reverse L/R images), a 4K certified HDMI 2.0 high quality cable, and a 2080Ti (a 1080Ti works great for MANY games). I suggest ignoring 3DTV Play, since it has limitations like 24 fps in 1080p mode (we want 60 Hz). I also suggest using Paul Dusler’s 3D Fix Manager to simplify working with game fixes, and reading through forum thread in my previous link (entire thread includes good setup instructions)...
Many of the newer DX11 games in the helixmod.blogspot list do not require EDID mod, and will directly support TaB 4K 3D display with the standard monitor driver loaded by the NVIDIA graphics driver (note TaB better than SBS 3D mode for C6). 3DTV Play may be required to enable this special “checkerboard” override mode, however.

making it easy to follow and understand. Seriously, Thank you. I wish there was a rep button or something
So, obviously 1280x720 would look really bad on a 55" 4K tv. Is there a link to a tutorial on how to get/use the EDID override?
Thanks

I just did the quick set up that Pauldusler listed:
1. Install 3D Fix Manager
2. Select a game in the list and click on "Play 3D" button
3. If 3D isn't set up yet and a dialog pops up complaining about this then click on button "Quick Setup"
4. If the 3D fix isn't installed yet then confirm the dialog to let the fix being installed automatically
5. In game options set the resolution to 1280x720. 3D should kick in now.
6. Play
I was limited to 720p60 and 1080p24. I was using 3D fix manager. My question is now, how do I select which 3D mode to use. TaB vs SBS. with the set up as is, I dont even know how to pick the format.
I was able to test Witcher 3, Bioshock 2 and Infinite. I'm at a loss for words right now. W3 and Infinite look good (will have to replay them). But Bioshock 2 had no effects. I got artifacts on Infinite though. Not sure why. I also tried to get Arkham Knight but the games keeps crashing with "rendering thread error" when i change the settings.
ALso why do I need 3DVisionEye Swapper? In which case would I need it?

Many of the newer DX11 games in the helixmod.blogspot list do not require EDID mod, and will directly support TaB 4K 3D display with the standard monitor driver loaded by the NVIDIA graphics driver (note TaB better than SBS 3D mode for C6). 3DTV Play may be required to enable this special “checkerboard” override mode, however.
Wow, I can't thank you enough for taking the time to write that
making it easy to follow and understand. Seriously, Thank you. I wish there was a rep button or something
So, obviously 1280x720 would look really bad on a 55" 4K tv. Is there a link to a tutorial on how to get/use the EDID override?
Thanks
Can you give me a break down liek PaulDuster did, step by step of how to set up 3D on an OLED since you have one. I am about to install 3D fix
Also, search web for 3DVision Eye Swapper app, a small utility that must be run at or after startup, to swap eyes (otherwise, turn glasses upside down).
Welcome to heaven moujo
