OP, I'd check your GPU temps first to see if that's the problem. Download something like MSI Afterburner and see what kind of temps you're seeing. Fan ramping up to full speed and then losing signal/blackscreen is usually a temperature issue. If its getting up to 90C+ then that may be part of the problem.

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I am thinking that 2 GTS450s in SLI would be more powerful than a single 560....

Yeah maybe more of a sidegrade, 2x450 is generally slower than a GTX 470 but sometimes comes close to a 480. I believe the 560 Ti is pretty close to the 470. I'd still probably go for the single GPU though in this case because of the overall wider pipeline.

Yeah I was running 2 450s in SLI, but due to the constant problems with SLI profiles and quirks with the drivers I recently upgraded to a GTX 580 3GB. I'm now running one of the old 450s just for PhysX - DEFINTIELY an upgrade!

the temps are fine it loses signal first then the fans start up full.i think it maybe a driver issue cos when they tested it at the shop they were playing battlefield 3 and the card didn't cut out,so i was thinking it maybe a problem with the 3d drivers
