Realy realy NEED HELP! my Viewsonic died. (was great while it worked) and i want to buy a new one, preffer a different brand. after alot of googling and alot of reading i am very confused. the models that says "3d ready" are very old and almost not available for purchasing. i am not intrested in messing with things like EDID an 3DTV, i want a projector that has "3d ready" soon as the setup finish, just like i had with Viewsonic. 720p is the resolution i hope to buy. i checked this list and almost none of them exist, only second hand or parts https://www.lifewire.com/nvidia-3d-vision-laptops-831760 also checked this list one by one http://www.projectorcentral.com/top-3d-projectors.htm realy clueless right now. please help! thanks in advance mates.

I think with 3D ready you mean 3D Vision certified? Because nearly all projectors support 3D - however since 2013 or so projectors are not 3D Vision certified any more. Instead most of them support 3DTV play now. If you still want to use your 3D Vision glasses with a new projector you have to use an EDID override. I've tried 2 projectors with this hack and it worked (Optoma HD 27 and Acer H6517ABD). However Optoma had terrible rainbow color effects and Acer a horrible fan). I'm also still searching for a good projector. I think the best choice is maybe BenQ W1090 or Benq W2000? They use RGBRGB wheels which seems to be the best for less rainbow effect.

by the way i looked up at this one... tell me what you think https://www.amazon.com/Acer-H7550ST-Home-Theater-Projector/dp/B00VV6YD4Q/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1508006455&sr=8-2&keywords=nvidia+projector not mentioned "3D Vision certified" but "NVIDIA 3DTV Player, DLP 3D ready," is on it's specs.

Looks reasonable. I have a BenQ W1070 that I really like. As far as I know, edid hacks work on every projector.

[/quote] Beamers from 2013 shouldn't be available any more for sale. But these were the only ones which worked out of the box with 3D Vision without EDID hacks. Edid hacks as mentioned are very simple to install. So this is no problem. Advantage of using 3D Vision + Beamer is that you can use DSR for having a flicker free experience in 720p compared to using 3DTV Play. I think Acer H7550ST would be rather loud (30 / 33 db) and it probably uses a RGBCYW wheel. The advantage of RGBCYW is as far as I know that the projector is brighter (3000 ANSI Lumen) but you will experience rainbow color artefacts in games. The only RGBRGB projector from Acer seems to be Acer Predator Z650 - it's a short distant gaming projector and because of its RGBRGB wheel brightness is lower (2200 ANSI lumen) - but image quality better. I would suggest to buy a BenQ projector - I'm also unsure which model to take. Benq W1070(+) is an older model - advantage of this model is that you have lens shift and RGBRGB wheel - but it is also known to have problems with dust inside the light path. @Pirateguybrush: Do you experience any dust problems with your projector?

Pauldusler, how noticable is the rainbow color artefacts? if not for that issue would you recommend this model? will it work well with 3d vision?

It's difficult to say how noticable this is because it depends on the individual person. Currently I have a very old Benq W710ST projector and I could not recognize these artefacts - I think it has a RGBRGB wheel. However as I tried the new projectors wih RGBCYW wheel I got really shocked about this issue especially on the Optoma Beamer and 3D mode. Artefacts on the Acer projector were not too bad but you could clearly see them. It can be very distracting as you pay more attentions to the artefacts than to the things happening in the game. So I would never recommend buying a projector with RGBCYW for gaming. In films however I could not see those artefacts.

you've recommended eariler this model: ACER H6517ABD. no rainbow artefacts on this one? EDIT: i just read a very good reviews about your other option - Optoma HD27. which one you recommend more for 3d vision? both of them needs EDID?

What about Optoma 142x. Its incredibly expensive new but i heard good things. Im dying to buy a projector right now. 3D is soooo goood. Do i need EDID hack, do i need glasses? Should i buy 720p or 1080p? What about old models used?
