Any fix for rectangular pixels (HDtv)? I'd like to play 3d on my bigscreen
At first I thought the 3d stereoscopic mode simply didn't work. Horrible ghosting, but some 3d effect was present.
I figured that was that.Ah well, 10$ well spent on NVidia 3d Discover shades.

It wasn't until the wife wanted to watch something on the big screen (LCD) that I switched the main display back to my 23" monitor.
HOLY CRAP. the 3d totally works. awesome. tested out as many of my games as i could & they all looked great.

Diablo 3 was the most jarring w/ the cursor & text up front & center at monitor lvl. Just Cause2 was so far the best experience in the new 3d (nevermind the fps hit).

Now I'd rather play games on my lil monitor instead of the 40" LCD because the 3d makes it so much friggin better.

Is there a tweak to the nvidia drivers so that I can have this crazy awesome experience on the bigscreen?
I assume its because TVs use rectangular pixels & monitors use square pixels. I hope there is a simply tweak/patch/fix.

You are increasing the depth setting in the control panel or using the alt-f4 hotkey?

Also, i think perspective, by that i mean artistic perspective, like train tracks narrowing in the distance, is a human depth cue affecting how we perceive distance. I think since everything on the 23" in smaller, our brains interpret it as being smaller, and further away. Just a theory. I'm trying out a 27" as a possible replacement for my 46" and at normal viewing distances the 27" had a lot more depth, even when the depth of distant objects matched my interocular on both displays. The 46" is at the back edge of my desk. When i pull the 27" closer to match the field of view i get from the 46", the perceived depth becomes more inline with the 46".

Yup,
tried messing /w depth, convergence, everything.
On the monitor, when messing w/ depth, I can see the objects getting pushed further back as I mess w/ the settings.
When I've tweaked the depth/convergence on the TV, i can see things getting pushed back, but the horrible ghosting is still there.

I had assumed messing w/ the convergence might work around the pixel issue, but it's not been successful.

I guess getting the bigscreen to also give me glorious 3d without having to shell out for 3d tv/3d monitor was too much to hope.

Your using 3DTV Play when using 3D on the TV? Try the free trial, thats what you'd be using anyway. (I think, since i've never used the Discover)

If ghosting is your problem, then unfortunately most likely the only solution would be to get a new TV. It's less likely that there could be a problem with your glasses, but generally speaking many active shutter LCD 3D TVs struggle with ghosting. It has nothing to do with the shape of the pixels, but their response time, their inability to fully switch between the left and right images fast enough.

That is, your TV is a 3D TV right?

Well if not, the solution is still the same: new TV.

EDIT: Sorry, I reread your OP, and looked up 3D Discover. Red/blue glasses right? In that case, everything I said above is wrong, your TV is fine! The problem is the glasses afterall. Not all red/blue 3D glasses are made equal.
