Smooth as butter on my setup. Fix is fab. SLI is great. Only issue that bothered me (and I am fussy as f...) is the 2D target icons. The game menu features so many tweak-able settings but you cant toggle these elements. Such a swine because they're superfluous because they are on the minimap. I hate in game icons at the best of times. Immersion killers. Moan moan moan.
Yeah, those are a drag. We'll be making another tweak to the fix relatively soon, next week or so. We can make those icons disabled via a Iniparams value, so at least you can play minus those on screen. I mean I already have a map, do I need those? It'll be user changeable by editing the d3dx.ini file.

Blimey! That is awesome! Why features such as toggle-able HUD icons isn't a standard menu feature is beyond me. Instead of squabbling over small-fry issues like the environment, we really ought to raising awareness of target icons. I mean come on! JKing! Ofc environmental concerns should be given equal weight to icons. ;)

My friend just bought the game and asks if he should wait with it or not. He really likes it and want's to finish it now, even in 2D, but I advice otherwise. May I ask you, bo3b, when the game will be fully enjoyable in 3D? I don't mean 100% perfect, just enough to argue with my friend that he should connect his 3D glasses to the PC again, and play Shadow of Mordor in 3D instead of 4K TV, in which he felt in love recently. ;)

They are discussing a fairly minor HUD annoyance. Fix is on helixmod blog.

Yeah, it's totally playable right now, and 10x better in 3D. The high-res textures really pop in 3D. Your friend should at least take a look at it in 3D. He may decide 4K is better for whatever reason, but making an informed opinion is much smarter than blindly going with the latest shizzle. There are a few HUD icons that render at screen depth, like a health bar over captains. It's annoying, but not game breaking. I'm still looking at trying to improve the HUD icons, but it's trouble. For example, the same shader is used for all kinds of stuff in the UI, so if we move a mission icon to depth, it botches the main map and icons in the weapon upgrade screens.

Glad this was bumped! ME:SoM is a one of the next gen fixes. 3D is not dead. Blatantly. Suggestion: HUD has been a bane of mine for over 6 years now. Could this HUD stuff be toggle-able? A key to turn it on for weapon upgrades or main map etc and off when exploring?

(DirectInput is no longer working correctly as far as I can tell.) I expect to be able to do this at some point. For any games that are DX9, this is definitely doable using HelixMod.

Is it unplayable without the offending shaders? I have hardly played the game tbh. Is there always a target icon active somewhere? Soz for being persistent! :( This shouldn't even be an issue. As I said before, so frustrating HUD stuff can't be toggled through the menu!

Working at it. What do you think of the HUD icons like this: I also have a working mechanism to allow setting zero separation when you are in the menus or upgrading weapons. Not nearly as interesting as when in 3D, but too many layers once the icons are moved.

That's superb! I for one will not be too concerned about zero separation in menu screens etc. So many games do this anyway. Path of Exile? IMO menu screens or little interlude scenes where your avatar quaffs/builds a potion etc. breaks immersion anyway; you are invariably looking at stats on something 2D, like paper.
