Guide: How to enable depth buffer/fake 3d in almost any DX11 game
1 / 3
Not really posting on the forums anymore but figured this is important to those who enjoy the depth buffer/fake 3d format. I wrote a guide cause its relatively simple to enable it yourself. Its worth knowing because most games will not get a profile so must be done manually.

Yeah I agree, there are some games that won't prbably ever get fixed, so it would be useful for this method to work for games that aren't DX11.
All hail 3d modders DHR, MasterOtaku, Losti, Necropants, Helifax, bo3b, mike_ar69, Flugan, DarkStarSword, 4everAwake, 3d4dd and so many more helping to keep the 3d dream alive, find their 3d fixes at http://helixmod.blogspot.com/ Also check my site for spanish VR and mobile gaming news: www.gamermovil.com
Compatibility mode isn't the way 3D should looks like.
I personally never play using it and prefer to play 2D or not to play at all.

Some games work well with NVidia 3D mode the sniper elite serious shine in this mode hopefully over time this will improve.
So In my option this better than nothing.
The thing about this mode is that it relies on the z-buffer (I'm assuming if this works the same way as Carmack's frame interpolation for oculus) and the final picture so it will work on pretty much anything that has a z-buffer.
Whereas normal 3d mode requires every single shader to work. A much bigger pain in the ass.
Z-Buffer/Depth-Buffer is the same thing as Compatibility Mode. For those older DX9 games, why not use Tridef?
Tridef performance is pretty bad on my Asus VG278H Monitor since I need to run 3d vision & tridef at the same time. Also I believe the Nvida Z Buffer is better than Tridefs.
Im just saying if Nvidia can do it why not make every Dx9-DX11 game at least Compatability Mode 3d Ready.

I tried Tri-def and had this same problem on the QE I literally have to run 3dvision and tridef at the same time. It also doesnt use SLI so performance is awful... =(

If you have an asus vg278h that supports SBS Stereo mode, there is no need to run 3d Vision simultaneously. It's half the resolution though.

Hi,
I can't seem to be able to unlock the depth.
In fake 3D mode, at 100% I've got about 10% of what I have in true 3D at 100%.
I'm using Assassin's Creed IV SP profile, I binded Thecrew.exe and TrialsFusion.exe to it.
I tried the batch file. It doesn't chagne anything in registry.
I tried to switch it manually and then start a game.
I tried to block it (permissions/privileges). I succeed, the value "monitor size" did stay as I changed it (to 10).
But nothing. Even Nvidia test application (the one with logo) didn't react - at 100% I have 100% as I had.
I installed the latest drives.
This time I didn't bother with privileges. I switched manually in both places in registry (additional in "old stereo" key and I started a game.
Nothing.
The game is The Crew. I tried Trials Fusion demo as well, since those are two games I want in 3D really bad. The Crew beta ends tomorrow. I don't want to even look at it in 2D, after seeing it with 3D at 80% depth in normal 3D. Unfortunatelly it's sometimes unplayable in this mode due to artifacts (for example car headlighs are 10m above the road, lol)

I added a failsafe to the scripts so if it can't write the registry key it shows an error, pauses, and then quits. If it does this you need to run the 'Run(AsAdmin)First:' code. This only has to be run once to allow the key/value to be written(not everytime you want to use the DepthHack scripts), and most likely once again after any new driver installs.
Change the Value of $MonitorSize to either match, or lower than your display's size (eg. SET $MonitorSize=120 would be for a 120" DLP screen) ... or set it even lower for more Depth(Personally, I set it at half my screen size and set depth at 50% so I can go higher in-game if necessary)

This way you can run a specific DepthHack from a hot key(AHK) and it seamlessly minimizes itself to the taskbar without the UAC prompt.
_DepthHackEngine.bat: Works with most games, run it before the game(via hot key or shortcut key) When the game starts the Drivers reset the MonitorSize Value and the Script detects it, sets it back to your desired Setting and exits. With most games the Drivers only Reset the Value once.
_DepthHackEngineLoop.bat: Some games will for some reason either keep triggering the Drivers to Reset the Value or at the very least do it more than once(FarCry3 after they added fake 3D), running this one will constantly loop, checking the Value and Setting it back when necessary.
_DepthHackEngineDebug.bat: Is the 'looping' version that outputs 'timestamps' to a file whenever the Registry MonitorSize Value is changed by the Drivers, 'for debugging' purposes.
_DepthHackEnginePrompt.bat: Same as _DepthHackEngine.bat but Prompts you to Enter a MonitorSize.
*if _AllowRunAsAdmin.bat isn't used to unlock the Permissions to the Registry Key then the DepthHack Scripts must be Run as Admin.

OK, I created all 3 .bat files and run them as administrator (win7 64bit).
(without the fourth one, since it's written "debug" in there)
GPU: gtx760
driver: newest official
antivir software: disabled
still a big fat nothing. :(
But thanx for your answer and please, post more, finally it surely will start working, at some point.
edit: BTW. Or maybe someone created a fix for Trials Evo/Fusion and The Crew, to disable problematic shaders?
edit 2:
Nope.
- batch file changes nothing
- I changed manually and blocked by privileges. Started Trials Fusion demo - nothing improved. Exited the game and checked the vaule - it still sits at 20, as I entered previously.
I don't know what's going on. :(
