3D Vision in Dark Souls 2 causes Asus pg278q monitor to lose signal after 5 minutes
3D vision on Asus pg278q works well on other games that I've tested, but I can't seem to get it working with Dark Souls 2. The problem is that I get a "No Signal" on my monitor about 5 minutes into the game every time. The timing is the exact time every time I try to play it (about 5 minutes). I am using the Helixmod but I've tried with and without the mod, so I don't think this is the problem. Also, I know the pg278q has issues with losing signal, but it doesn't happen in other games (only Dark Souls 2). Also, when I play with G sync mode enabled it doesn't crash. I have driver 344.48 installed. Also, I am running Windows 10 Tech Eval copy build 9879 (which I am really hoping isn't the problem). I have tried disabling the steam overlay as I read this may be an issue and it didn't work.
Any ideas? I suspect it to be a monitor problem as there are a lot of people having problems with losing signals on the forums, but I find it curious that it only does this in one game and only with 3D vision enabled.

I installed 347.09 and it still does the same thing. The only way I can get signal back is by restarting the computer. Alt tabbing does not work. I think it might be the pg278q acting weird but I'm not sure. This is my second one. I had to return the first one as it had 'no signal' problems that required restarts all the time. I'm still within 30 days on this monitor, so I can take it back again and be done with it for good! But it's odd that it only happens in one game this time and only with 3D vision enabled and only after 5 minutes...weird.

I don't think is a problem with the monitor...but rather with the drivers... Sometimes I get that on my surround config on one of the monitors (no signal message). Mostly on the left monitor. Changing the resolution(in-game) or ALT+TAB fixes the issue...
Have you tried alt+tabbing? This looks like a driver issue all-over the place... Have you tried a dual-link dvi cable instead of the DP one?

Thanks for everyone's responses. I did change the resolution to 1920x1080 (in game) and was able to get it to run without any signal issues!!! Thanks helifax! So, at least I can play it now! I will choose this lower resolution in 3D over 2560x1440. Although, I still don't understand why, as soon as I switched back to 2560x1440, I get the same 'no signal' issue and no ALT TAB ability. It makes me wonder if it's a bandwidth problem with the cable that came with the monitor? It's a displayport only monitor by the way.
I had a problem on the PG278q (the one I returned) that whenever I selected 144 hz in Skyrim I got the same 'no signal' issue, but this only happened at high frame rates and when I limited it to 60 hz, it was fine. Of course, that wasn't acceptable, so I returned it. The new one tested fine, until this new issue.
update: after another 2560x1440 'no signal' screen, I hooked up the computer to my 1080p plasma through HDMI (only the motherboard HDMI worked and not the mini itx GTX 970 HDMI...hmmmm). Thanks Pirateguy! I was surprised to see it was on the windows login screen (through no input of my own - just the 'no signal' message from the game and then reset?).
I think I now remember some complaints people had with the pg278q causing restarts (need to research). Kinda strange though as I have tested this monitor at 2560x1440 at 144 hz and other titles with 3d vision and it works fine (the previous monitor would do weird stuff - including 'no signal' and weird horizontal lines creating a horrible fuzzy image as mentioned above). Ehhh, such a bummer if it is the monitor, as it is a great monitor when it works!
Any other ideas? Kinda leaning towards the monitor as the problem...
Thanks helifax, by the way for all the awesome mods for 3D! Just wish I had the monitor to run it! lol

GTX mini itx 970 GV-N970IXOC-4GD came overclocked from gigabyte. I haven't done any overclocking myself. Power supply is a silverstone TEK SFX 600W, so pretty sure it's not power related. CPU is i5 4690k (I haven't overclocked this either).
Also, I've never selected OD as anything other than normal and while in 3D vision mode 120 hz is the only option allowed. Still getting these issues, but only at 1440 as noted earlier :(
Have you had luck with your Swift? Do you have the same problems running at 144 hz? Seems like a monitor issue to me, but I'm hoping there might be another solution that I'm overlooking...
Thanks for the input!

This doesn't sound like a driver issue to me, or a problem with the monitor, or even the game.
It sounds like your PC is crashing and restarting. This most commonly happens due to hardware faults or overheating. I'd suggest hooking up a second monitor (even use your TV), and run a temperature monitor on it (I personally use nVidia inspector for GPU, and Speedfan for CPU). Keep an eye on how hot things are getting.

Go to the Event Viewer. Type event viewer into the search box. Take a look at critical issues and see if you are getting blue screens or something while you cannot see.
Also check "View Reliability History" to see specific problems and see if you can narrow down the problem.
It does sound like a hardware problem, that this specific game somehow makes happen. That's not super unusual, I had to Underclock my GTX 580s for Deus Ex because it would always crash in a particular room.
In your case, since it seems to crash and reboot, I'd start by reseating the RAM, and doing an overnight RAM test.
Also as Pirate notes, be sure to check your CPU temperature. If your heatsink is failing or somehow off, you can get this sort of problem. Run Prime95 to test it live. Run FurMark to test GPU.

Thanks again for the help all! Event viewer has quite a few error messages and warning messages :( A lot are titled DeviceSetupManager and seem related to no internet connection on startup. This is strange to me as the computer has great wifi...
Anyhow, I've found the one that I think is most likely the problem, but I'm not sure how to fix it:
The driver \Driver\WUDFRd failed to load for the device ACPI\PNP0A0A\2&daba3ff&1
Also, the system is definitely restarting on the no signal. I hooked it up to the plasma via hdmi and it showed the login screen, but I was unable to see any blue screens (likely though because the game was rendering in 25560x1440 instead of the 1080p on my plasma).
Thanks again!

Also, ran furmark at 1440p and 2x MSAA and watched the furry doughnut twice for 5 minutes or so...GPU temp never got above 70 and system was stable. I also use the Heaven and Valley benchmarks all the time (in stereoscopic as well) and never have issues...
Ran prime 95. Not sure I understand the results, but it said 4 workers and had pass marks...
Lastly, not sure how to run an overnight RAM test...I'll google it and run it later, but my system recognizes the 16 GB I have installed.

That ACPI thing will be related to your motherboard and motherboard drivers. Wouldn't hurt to go to MB website and fetch the latest motherboard drivers and software. Maybe latest BIOS, but generally that's unnecessary.
