oh brother. I better get my wife some flowers and chocolate...and...
Oh yeah, maybe a new house. :->
That setup they have there is definitely about as extreme as you can get. Note that their projectors actually do 1080p@120Hz, which nothing retail does. A single one of those projectors is about $25K, and you need three to drive that. <cough>
On the other hand, the screen is the cool part, the projectors have no need to be so insane when you have three. For example, is it slumming to only use 3x 1024x768@120Hz projectors? I seriously question whether anyone at that sitting distance can tell the difference between 720p and 1080p.
Let's say the screen is $4K, plus 3x $500 projectors + something for edge blending. Now we are back in motorcycle territory. Just dreaming out loud. :->
@imarun: Sorry, kind of went off into the weeds here.

What DJB needs is a Passive Rear Projection wall between the bedroom and gaming room.
That way when his wife tells him he must get in bed, he can pull down a screen once on the other side of the wall, switch the projectors to front projection and continue gaming in bed :P

This looks really cool. BTW I am also thinking about getting a projector. Is Acer H5360 the recommended one? Or are there any other choices? I have about 6 feet projection distance so I would prefer a short throw projector.

The calculator I referenced above says you will have a 54" diagonal screen with that distance. At that short distance, it would unquestionably be bright enough, if not too bright at night.
That's bigger than the TV's you were considering, but maybe not as big as you'd like. Maybe someone else can make a short throw recommendation.

The Optoma GT720 is essentially equivalent to the Acer H5360. 720p, 3D, DLP. From 6 feet away, you would get a 120 inch image. It uses 3D Vision.
Another good one is the Benq W1080ST (it's the short throw version of the W1070). Likewise you could get up to 120 inches at 6 feet away. This projector is 1080p native, HDMI 1.4 which means you would need to use 3DTV Play. Still limited to 720p for 60 fps 3D, but it would be good if you're interested in movies or just a good projector for all kinds of 2D use as well.

I know of one thread where it was mentioned it had flickering and another where one half of the screen was brighter than the other.

Of course be subjective, there is always the possibility of getting a defective unit no matter what you buy.
So you might want to buy an extended warranty or if not, make sure that the projector you buy can esily be warrantied if the need arises without exhorbiant shipping cost to the place of repair.

I believe these are fairly universal defects among projectors (as you implied). Generally any problem will be obvious early, and you'll have the opportunity to return it for a better unit. Generally the more popular a projector is, the more posts there will be reporting defects. This is one good reason to look at the retailer's return policy and/or the company's level of customer service. I wouldn't recommend importing a projector, for example.

I really liked BenQ W710ST because of short throw and 3D vision support. I already have 3D vision kit so I don't have to buy 3D glasses. But I am a bit scared after seeing these bad reviews. May be I will give it a try and return if I don't like it. Do you guys have any other suggestions?

I'd put more weight into the Amazon reviews, than sporadic reviews across the web. As long as you have a 30 day money back guarantee, I'd say it's definitely a good choice for your setup.
The only other spot that has good 3D oriented reviews is 3dvision-blog.com

AV Science forum is usually a decent place to get user reviews. Like bo3b said Amazon, Newegg and other online retailer owner feedback reviews are great.
Keep in mind that HDMI 1.3 projectors only work with PCs and not with other devices like PS3 or XBox for stereoscopic gaming, unless a converteris used.
