Possible solution to the issue where the IR emitter blinks red during install
Hello everyone, here is a description of the solution I found when I got the issue with the IR emitter blinking red when connected to a USB port as asked during the installation of my 3D Vision kit.
The reason for my issue was that Windows (7, 64-bit by the way) did not find any drivers for the device. Here is a solution:
1. When in the installation Wizard and prompted to insert the IR emitter to a USB port, do so and if the light is blinking red for more than a few seconds you need to insert the IR emitter into another port, try all of your free USB ports (worked for me some of the times I installed the kit)
If 1 fails:
2. Press alt+tab or the windows button
3. Windows should have a note indicating that the device did not install properly, if so, click the note and manually install the drivers by selecting the location of the 3D Vision drivers, for instance, the driver CD or the folder where your unpacked 3D Vision drivers are (If the note isn't there, go to Devices and se if you can find it there and do the same procedure)
4. When Windows has installed the drivers, the light should immediatly switch to light green on the IR emitter. If so, go back to the installation wizard and continue the install. Done! /smile2.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':))' />
Hope this will help anyone who, like me, got stuck with my fresh new 3D Vision kit tearing my hair off... Strange that nVidia hasn't fixed this problem though.
(By the way, I am using CD driver version 1.17 and had the same problem with 1.07)
(Just saw that a similar description can be found under the 3D Vision FAQ sticky thread, hope that doesn't offend anyone)

When I had this problem I also discovered you can just go to the Device Manager and then rightclick, select update driver and then manually choose the correct driver. It seems win 7 sometimes recognizes the device as some generic usb peripheral (most likely because the drivers for the emitter are not installed yet, or incorrectly) and accordingly installs a generic driver which is not recognized of course by the 3d setup. This is also why you shouldn't plug in the emitter before installing the drivers. Of course if you do so anyway, the above will fix it.
