With software + a good webcam 3D Vision could become Holographic 3D
As I wrote on my last article, rendered content on a 3D screen could be Holographic 3D with the appropiate software calculating perspectives acording to our eyes position. So if we move head to one side we can slightly see some objects blocked for our hero or behing another object. Differences between 3D, Holographic 3D, and Hologram – https://www.tridimensional.info/2019/02/differences-between-3d-holographic-3d-and-hologram/ Hopefully some good developers from this forum could unite to make this possible

Personally i think holograms is one of those thing that sounds cool but noone actually wants to see. This just my personal oppinnion. 3d content, games and video Are far superiour entryainment than doing Something with holograms in this context Or is there Something im missing ?

The holograms in my WMR Cliffhouse are pretty cool and I see alot of potential in 3D full scale modeling from it

Just for fun, back when I played WoW on my projector, I would extreme tweak the convergence for pop out when I was on a flying mount up high in the sky. The perception was that my toon was flying midway between myself and the screen. This was only possible in clear sky areas, where nothing was rendering anywhere near my toon. When I demoed 3D to friends, I would show them this and explain why extreme popout isn't feasible in games. They loved it though

If you read the article the Holographic 3D is like 3D but if you move your head you can see different angles of image. With regular 3D if you move your head you see the image distorting as you moves. Holographic 3D in games could help to see what's behind a corner by moving the head to the side as you will do in reality

At present there is no way to know where you head is positioned, and hence no way to know where your eyes would be. It could be hooked into something like a Tobii, or TrackIR. It's also possible to do this with a VR TV, where you get head tracking for free. Even with that hardware supported, you still have the problem of changing the game's view. This would require hacking into their control input scheme, so that head-tracking moves the mouse for example, to simulate moving in the game. I've done this on Alien Isolation, and it's really hard to get it right, so that it feels natural. Every game is a unique snowflake, so it'd require tweaks for every game. It's also possible to hack the VPM to do this, which works a lot better, but fakes out the game and the culling of objects on what the game thinks it sees, versus what's being shown becomes a problem. You'd see clipping or missing objects as you moved. As you looked around a corner for example, everything behind it would have been culled. Not impossible... but much harder than you'd expect.

There's already software traking your head to adjust perspective, but was not used in combination with Stereoscopic 3D, like the TrackIR and TrackHat. I'm pretty sure you can buy that software+equipment right now and launch a Stereo3D game and work. That is the easiest way, but it would be better to track eyes so you can move your head instead of turning. The only difficulties I see is to calibrate camera (and users have to fix it on that position, ideally at upper center of monitor). Also there are a lot of creepy webcams, this will require to use a modern 720p webcam and lights on (or webcam with integrated infrared).

Whenever people imply that "it's just a simple matter of software", I find this aggravating, because hooking into games to make this happen is not 'simple.' If it's so simple, then why doesn't TrackIR work with every game, not just the ones on their list?

There's the ZEISS cinemizer, I recall a poster using one ziptied to his glasses. No idea if it worked any better that TrackIR. Edit: here's the post I was thinking of [quote="MyLittleEye"]Havent heard anyone else mention this yet, so thought I'd throw it out there... I've used the Carl Zeiss Head Tracker for quite a while with 3D vision and a 160" inch screen & it gives a really great effect in some games... & plus it works with every single game as it's simply a mouse controller.. ( so zero lag ) http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MO-001-CZ I simply tape it to the side of my 3d vision glasses and I also at times sit stupidly close to my 160" screen ( 1 - 2 meters away ) and looking around in games like Far cry 3 at times is mindblowing immersion..
