Haven't seen a topic on this, was hoping for some insight from nvidia or people who've already played the game on the quality of 3D. I noticed there's already a Day 1 patch that specifically lists 3D vision as something that was addressed, so I'm hoping they paid attention to this during development. I've been waiting for this game to release on the PC, and I would LOVE to play it in 3D if there's not too many issues. Thoughts?

If 3D Vision support is anything like the previous 3 AC titles, this game should be amazing in 3D Vision. There's only a few minor problems with the previous games (2D icons, incorrect blob shadows, artifacting self-shadows in Brotherhood, skybox incorrect depth).
I still have to play through Brotherhood but I'd be thrilled if the Day 1 patch fixed any residual issues to make it truly 3D Vision Ready. These are really some of the best showcases of what 3D Vision is capable of.

Those look like the same self-shadowing issues present in Brotherhood. I think reducing shadow setting to the lowest fixes those. I'm also pretty sure that's an SLI only issue as one of the GPUs are not rendering the shadow and one is. Nvidia might be able to fix that via driver or Ubisoft via client, but given it was still an issue for me in Brotherhood just a month or so again, I'm not that optimistic it'll get fixed.

Ugh, it's SO CLOSE to being SO GOOD, but the shadows are just too distracting. I tried disabling SLI, and I did see a marginal difference but not enough to make it worth playing in 3D...such a shame...

Maybe something went wrong with updating my game but I still have the same issues with ACR in S3D as in the parts before - even more!
- the special sky for 3DVision is not the small dome around the character's head but a flat wall. But it is still at the wrong deph. So not a real improvement.
- there are still irritating dark spots on the ground that likely represent ambiant occlusion shadows of the characters
- self-shadowing issues (only in cutscenes?)
- flags in 2D
- several issues with the effects caused by bombs
- in addition to his issues we also had in the older parts now the whole scenery is covered with a dense layer of clouds of dust that aren't rendered correctly for S3D.
Has anybody the same issues?

It's funny, the game looks really good in 2D and I remember being perfectly playing 2D not so long ago...but once you've seen the other side...I just have such a hard time going back... I'd love to be able to hold off until there's a patch (I do think it needs a patch, I don't think this is something that can be fixed with a driver update), but the game's just so FUN... Maybe I can play Skyrim for a while, we'll see...

I would also add any of the character/icon indicators being 2D as that was an issue with the older games. I'm not that optimistic Ubisoft will make this game perfect in 3D after the fact, but we can try to get them to expose the controls to turn off the most problematic features like self-shadowing/ambient occlusion. Pretty sure these are post-process effects that would need special treatment to convert them into a stereo texture to work with Nvidia's stereo drivers, and I just don't think that's going to happen this late in the game.
Have you guys tried turning down shadow quality settings? That fixed the self-shadowing in the older titles, kind of a workaround but better than effects being rendered in only one eye imo. Maybe you guys can post some more detailed pics too further in the game for comparison sake against the previous titles, thanks.

I would probably start a new topic and list off the problems you're seeing. The post by 3d4dd would be a good starting point imo, as it lists off many of the same problems with the previous AC games. The more serious problems from what I could see are the self-shadowing in one eye only and ambient occlusion effects being rendered at the wrong/inconsistent depths.
