I'm not able to configure the 3d vision
Hi everybody. I've a Asus vg236h monitor and the 3D Vision kit of Nvidia. I had the 3d vision installed for a pair of months and it worked fine. But now I had to format my computer and I'm not able to install and configure the system. I've installed last drivers of Nvidia and I go to installation wizard from Nvidia Control Panel. When the "turn on your glasses" screen appears, it seems to freeze itself for 10-20 seconds and when I try to click some button (for example, the "next" button) it freezes again. Now, sometimes the process blocks definitely and I must to kill it from process manager (in this case, the screen keeps with a high shine, like when the 3d stereoscopy is running (but it doesn't). Other times, it shows the screen when you must cover your eyes to see the correct figures, but the 3d doesn't work (in this case I can cancel the wizard and exit from it). At all times, the IR emitter shows the green light; if I unplug the IR emisor and I plug it again, it shows a blinking red light (in this case, it stays like that untill I restart the computer). I tried reinstalling the drivers; installing an older version; but no success. Any hint? It's really frustrating. Thank's in advance. Ps: Sorry if my English isn't so good.

After reformatting, did you reinstall all of the necessary drivers for your motherboard?

Graphics card would be the most important to know. Maybe it's worth testing the system in 2d for a while, with random freezes like this it can be a failing graphics card or ram. The other thing to try is disconnecting all other USB devices, and trying the emitter in different ports.

I've a GeForce GT 430 (but it's the same card that I used when the 3d Vision worked). I connect the emitter with an USB extension cord. It's a bit old, maybe there's some problem with it. I'll try tonight connecting the emitter directly to the port of the PC.

That could be your problem right there, there was another recent thread where someone was having similar issues getting through the setup and it wound up being the mini>USB adapter/cable combo he was using.

I've tried connecting the emitter to another USB port (with another extension cord and without it). Now, the wizard doesn't block (fine, this is a step further), but the 3d vision doesn't activate. I can see both figures with any eye (actually, previously the glasses blinked before the figures appear (it was being activated), but now there's no blink (so I guess that it doesn't even trying activate)).

I've tried reinstalling the Nvidia drivers (may some file be corrupted after last errors), but it doesn't work yet. It's very very frustrating :(

I've noticed something... when I plug the emitter, the light turns green. When the system is supposed to activating the 3d view, the light of the emiiter turns a green brighter and after less than a second it turns darker green again... Does it mean anything? Ps: No, now the light turns brither green but glasses don't activate

IT'S SOLVED!!! I only did 2 things that are different to previous attempts: - I applied some Windows updates. I really don't think this was the problem, because my Windows was up-to-date till April updates (and 3d vision was working fine last year) and I've checked the updates history and I don't think that they were the "culprit". - I uninstalled Windows Defender and after reboot 3d Vision started working without any problem. It may has sense; last year (when I used the 3D) I hadn't Windows Defender, but other security system. It may be interfering with the execution of the 3D emitter. I'll do more tests, but it seems that is all right just now. There's only a strange point. I've configured the 3D vision to activate when a fullscreen app is launched. I've tried a game and when I finished, the screen kept with a high shine and the emiiter kept the light green (instead of dark green). I must executed the 3d test from Nvidia control panel and close it to force the emitter stop. Thank you very much for supporting :)
