Best Quadro card for Maya and Nuke? for under $400....
Hey folks. Looks like I didn't do all the research I needed to.

So I use Maya on a daily basis (just upgraded to 2012) for my job. At home I use a PNY GeForce GT 240 (a meh card, I know)

anyways, it supports 3D vision, and since I just got on a 3D stereo project, I decided to purchase a new 3d monitor and 3d vision package to use with Maya.

So I test out 3D vision in a game first (half life 2 as a good middle-ground) worked fine, I was happy and excited to use it in Maya.

Then I move over to Maya, create my stereo camera, and go to switch to view in stereo, and the option for "Active" display is greyed out.

I then try Nuke, similarly the option for "crystal view" stereo was not listed as it should be.

So I do some more research to find that your card has to support "quad buffered gl" mode, which is apparently locked out of their consumer products and only included in Quadro cards.

I'll not get into why that is a load of BS, and the fact that most of these cards would support quad buffered modes with a nice bios upgrade... but anyways since I cant find the right bios for my card for an equivalent Quadro card... I am stuck buying a new, overpriced Quadro card.

After spending almost $500 today to get set up with 3D, I am a bit miffed to say the least.

It appears that I don't need to get the "3D vision pro" kit thankfully (which only adds a different method of syncing the shutter), so at least the monitor and standard 3d vision kit are good to go (I think, please correct me if I am wrong!).

Anyways, now that I have vented, I am asking... what is the Best quadro card that I can get for under $400 and does it support "quad buffered stereo"?

Or better yet... has anyone successfully flashed a Quadro bios to this card? :) (if asking this is against the forum rules, please tell me and I will remove that question. but please PM me if you know the answer!)

Thanks to anyone who can help :)
