Hey All,
I am getting back into Lord of the Rings Online again and it needs a bit of a fix.. So far I fixed the HUD elements..
I was trying to fix the stars but it started raining, raining and more raining.. So I looked around and saw a problem with the Mouse Cursor..
I think it is using a Hardware Cursor and I see no option to make it a software based via ingame settings.
Looked up on Google and found nothing about getting it to be a Software based cursor.. I was wondering if anyone here knows how to turn a Hardware based cursor into a Software based one by LUA Files or somehow in LOTRO??
Gonna go back in and see if the stars are up yet and hopefully can fix the day sky if it is broke..until then I await and answer thank you guys..

I did run into another unique problem and it is that when I run nThusim (a Software Warping program for curved screens) LOTRO gets a CTD, I run the launcher and that works but when I goto start the game it CTD's..
I am unsure what to do as I will not be able to use the fix myself if I cant get LOTRO running but I can turn OFF nThusim and get it too work but the warping is all broke and so is the edge blend so basically it is unplayable..
I tried about 5 different versions of 3D Migoto but they all CTD, I will look at the logs but was wondering if there was something I could try to get it working ??

the above happens when running 3D Migoto along with nThusim.. If I disable or turn off either the game works fine but I can not play wihout nThusim and make it weird with no 3D fix..
So I am trying to get the 2 to play nice and just work.. not sure what else to try but I thought since it was a 32bit application to make sure the large address flag was enabled and it was so that is not the problem..
will keep trying to get it working.. but would like some help on what I can try or do to possibly get it too work?

OK I got it fixed.. I had LOTRO on Compatibility miode which I did not need to run and I changed the PRofile and it worked.. I may be the only one who needs to run a different PRofile but will rteflect it in my helixmode update fix for LOTRO..
Thnx for letting me ramble on..

WEll that was weird after I submitted the last reply I tried running LOTRO and it would not run I removed the PRofile to none and it worked again..
I am going to try and run the game if it loads it maybe don't need a profile??
Well with the profile as another it starts one time then it will not start.. It seems I have to change the profile everytime I restart but it is not consistent in which profile it likes..
this is really weird behavior and if I can solve this it will make getting LOTRO to run a Pita..

Just a shot in the dark here but maybe it has something to do with the Profile settings in the d3dx.ini?
...there's create_profile=0 and the [Profile] section, if you changed any of those settings then they might be overwriting them/the Profile when you run the game with 3DMigoto enabled.

I will check but seemed to have gotten a stable game with Dead rising 3 profile.. Others may not need to reset the profile it is just that I use nThusim and that was causing issues..
I will make a note for others that they may need to change the profile but to try the default LOTRO Profile first.. if that don't work they can switch to the Rising Dead 34 Profile ;)
thank you for the info TsaebehT will look into it right now..
'Also gonna realase v1 of this fix but so far it seems good and most of the issues I noticed cloudas and night sky stars where the worst..

For the cursor, you can put it in a bounding box/texture and then manipulate the box. See the following links

WEll that looks great, I will have to look into it a bit deeper as that is a bit out of my league..
I did try and find the shader it seems none exist for the cursor in question.. I will continue to look into this..
Thank you for the links and help D-Man11 ;)
BTW, thanks TsaebehT for the heads up on the Bundlestars FPS bundle. Bought it for Fancy Skulls. Here's a quick fix for the crosshair: https://s3.amazonaws.com/4everAwake/3d_fix_Fancy_Skulls.zip
Yes, the DSS method is advanced
But look at the shader in the fix above (posted below) and see how 4everAwake did it. I recall eqzitara doing this before, but I can't remember the thread.
vs_3_0
//def c100, 0, 0, 0, 0
def c245, -0.05, 0.05, 0, 0
def c247, 0.85, 0, 0.0625, 2
dcl_2d s0
dcl_position o10
dcl_texcoord o0.xy
dcl_color o8
dcl_position v0
dcl_texcoord v1
dcl_color v2
dp4 r10.x, c0, v0
dp4 r10.y, c1, v0
dp4 r10.z, c2, v0
dp4 r10.w, c3, v0
texldl r24, c247.z, s0
mov r14.x, c254.x
if_eq r14.x, c247.w
if_gt r10.x, c245.x
if_lt r10.x, c245.y
if_lt r10.y, c245.y
if_gt r10.y, c245.x
mul r24.x, r24.x, -c247.x
add r10.x, r10.x, -r24.x
endif
endif
endif
endif
endif
mov o10, r10
mov o0.xy, v1
mov o8, v2
// approximately 6 instruction slots used
This will allow you to move it to depth, it will not have any type of auto depth feature
hint: it's all about the if and endif AFIK :)
But look at the shader in the fix above (posted below) and see how 4everAwake did it. I recall eqzitara doing this before, but I can't remember the thread.
Well do I just set that into the shaderfixes folder and it will correct the mouse cursor or do I need to find the VS and paste the above bit into the file??
I do not understand what to do I may have to read that entire thread you linked above..
I do not understand if and endifs so this is way out of my league.. as I am unsure what to do with that file above that was in the link to DL..
I did put it in LOTRO shaderfixes but the cursor did nothing?? I am even more confused because they say this was a fix for the Crosshair I am trying to fix the hardware cursor??

hehe well I kinda looked all through that post you linked they where mainly talking about indie games and fixes..
I am sure it could be used maybe but that was definitely a fix for a crosshair.. With this Hardware cursore I did not find either a VS or PS, I am just trying to determine if it even has some sort of shader associated with it at all.,.
If I could at least find a shader file for it I might be able to switch it with a different texture or something maybe then it can go 3D??
I am just gonna keep looking for a fix to see if there is a way to implement a software cursor somehow.... I seen tons of older posts on the LOTRO Forums from others wanting that but we never got one as far as I can tell..
Maybe somones fix might have a fix for a hardware cursor that I could use will have to go through each one and look I guess..
But meanwhile I just thought someone here might know what to do??
Thank you tho ;)

Well if you look at the link that DSS posted, it links to a page on his site that does talk about the crosshair, but it also says "cursor" further down.
// Stereo cursor: To improve the accuracy of the stereo cursor, we start at the
// near clipping plane and work our way towards center + separation (ideally
// we would loop one pixel at a time, but as the loop counts must be constant
// we can't do that here, so we just choose a granuality in i0 and c227.
// Alternatively we could loop one pixel at a time with a hardcoded maximum
// number of pixels)
It looks to me that he's applying a fix to a crosshair and cursor in the "Straded Deep" game ( but I very well could be wrong, seeing as how I'm no expert, let alone any type of novice)
I'm merely an observer and thought something that I saw, may be of some help.
