3D vision 2 not working!!
I have a BenQ XL2720Z that is 3D vision ready. I turn on my 3d vision 2 glasses but I can't get past the IR emitter screen in the setup wizard, but I have read so many posts online that there is a built in IR emitter, and there is a spot for it with the little glasses logo. Am I wrong??? or am I just doing something wrong... please help!!!

Reinstall your drivers, ensure you're using the DVI cable that came with the monitor, and provide more system specs (OS, GPU) if you don't have any success.

I'm not sure that monitor has a built-in emitter. 3D Vision Ready means that it supports LightBoost and 120Hz, but doesn't necessarily include the emitter. When I look for that in online stores, it looks like they expect you to pick up the 3D Vision 2 kit, which has glasses and emitter in the kit. Not positive, there are a lot of different versions of monitors, and single letter differences in model numbers.

I'm confused because there is nowhere on the internet that definitively says whether it has one or not. there is a little glasses logo in the bottom right hand corner with a hole that looks like an IR emitter and when I put my finger over the hole all the lights light up on the right hand size of the monitor. I know that really means nothing it could be a different light sensor but its confusing.

Yeah, the manufacturers don't do a very good job of making it clear, it's just churn out model after model. They often reuse bezels too, so you can easily have a hole there, but nothing behind it. If you have one there, I'd expect you to be able to see it in the Device Manager as an NVidia Stereoscopic under USB. Not positive that's the same on a monitor with an emitter. When they are turned on, the emitter can be seen with any camera, cell phone or regular. Infrared shows up on cameras. It doesn't sound like yours turns on, if it's there, so that may not help. This review from one of the best 3D sites says it does have an emitter, so I dunno: http://3dvision-blog.com/9205-benq-xl2720z-a-new-3d-vision-ready-and-144hz-2d-gaming-monitor/ What is the exact error message that you see? Post a picture if you can.

I don't get an error message, when I open up the 3D wizard, it only gives me options for 3D vision kits that include IR emitters, so I can't get past that step. otherwise the only option for me is the 3D vision discover.

How is your monitor connected? Based on what Pirate says, if you were to connect via HDMI, then the emitter would never be seen I think. I you connect by DVI, it probably would. In any case, for that monitor you want to use the cable that came with it for sure. Dual-Link DVI, lots of complexity and problems if you use the wrong cable.

I am using the supplied Dual-Link DVI cable. Where would it be located in the device manager?

I'm pretty sure that monitor doesn't have an emitter. The BenQ page for it doesn't indicate that it does, and the blog bo3b linked to was a review and not a preview, and only says "apparently this model does only come with built-in IR emitter". I think you'll have to buy one.
