I am too am very disappointed by NVIDIA 's move.
I bought my 8800GTS more than a year ago and expected those stereo drivers to show up ever since. This was besides the delay from another competitor the reason i got my first nvidia videocard

If Nvidia doesn't provide standard 3D stereo drivers,
our very best bet would be to go to Microsoft for this .
Maybe they could include 3D library into future versions of DX10 and make it mandatory so it becomes universal.

I have a 27"LCD Dell ,Z800 visor and stutter glasses .While those may not be the best hardware to play in 3D stereo, why should they force me to use another screen-probably of lesser quality if not of size

Please Nvidia make a nice move for your customers.
3D stereo is a nice technology and crippling future stereo drivers is very sad,
aside from being bad for strengthening customer relationships.

Anyway i would like NVIDIA to clarify the matter if they are still commited to develop 3D stereo technology and if not why have they abandonned it.
THanks

Some mod just deleted my thread with a petition for NVIDIA to sign

Give us stereo3D back!

If you care about the quality and mass 3d acceptance, please post this petition link anywhere you want. This is outrageous by NVIDIA, deleting an insignificant petition thread... right!

hahaha, good one.

So instead of thousands of cards sold b/c of 3d over and over with new cards upgraded, better sell 10 monitors. Ok.

Don't buy a Zalman people because you'll end up with a piece of junk with no drivers. From fans to 3d monitors and 3d drivers, good luck with that, you're gonna need it.

iz3d is going to support planar setups and passive projection very soon. Hopefully more types in the coming months. Not free, but the support is excellent. Get those and forget about nvidia 3d.

I bought an 8800GT, and SOLD IT AGAIN, less than a month later.

I WILL NOT be buying another card until this is sorted out.

I built my own Dual LCD passively polarized rig, and was enthusiastically supporting nVidia, and telling people not to buy an AMD at any price point, because it was so simple to play in 3D, and nVidia offered it.

AND THEN THIS HAPPENS!! /thumbsdown.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> /thumbsdown.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

I want my XP with my Dual Display horizontally mirrored output, on a CURRENT card with a G92 core.

I can't believe the lousy way we are being treated. I am stuck using a 7900GS to play my games, when I gladly would have bought an 8800GT 512, or a 9600GT.

This is just a terrible state of affairs. Oh, and bring back the classic control panel already, nobody can accomplish anything with this ridiculous setup   . (ostensibly this horrid new layout is to enable more control, yet it offers much less control than the old setup /thumbsdown.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> , WHY?!?!?)

SIGNED (anybody know how to sign in blood on a forum? Cause I would, the way I am treated for spending my money on new nVidia cards)

It sounds like many of us have similar stories.

With Nvidia taking such a HUGE step backwards and IZ3d probably stepping up with drivers soon, there is now nothing to stop me from going with the ATI/AMD stuff and setting up a nice "Spyder" rig.

It was nice while it lasted Nvidia...I hope to publicly bring up my questions regarding this poor decision at the next event you attend or shareholder meeting (before I sell my shares).

Poor Nvidia, they can't see the truth, even if it is smacking directly at their faces. No disrespect intended, it's just that Nvidia has to notice what they are doing.

I ever thought Nvidia was a great team. But what they have done is some important act that defines another kind of men. It is not only the money, or the facist kind of decisions, it is something more. Is the sensation for people that always we thought Nvidia in our side, working (very sloooooooooowly, but working), and we see that they have no problem to change to the other side for a few dollars,

Last week I received at home a box with a Microsoft wheel for my xbox360, only supporting to gime me a better wheel with NO COST... now I have two wheels, only because M$ prefer to be good with me... seem to be a "little" difference. I need to learn english better, because I can´t writte exactly what I think. What kind of people must be behind to do something like this.

Yeah,
I have been waiting so long to get a new 3d driver. But, the last one they released was 2006. The popularity of the LCD display is really killing off the easiest and most accessable method of doing 3d. Nobody has a crt lying around these days. The people that even know what stereoscopic is are such a tiny percent of the people that own an nvidia card they just can't market to such a tiny audience, and it is tiny. I have done this since 1998 and I dont know anyone that has done it outside of the people I showed how to. Even the people that try give up because of the incorrect card or drivers or something else. It is probably 1 in 1000 people use the 3d capabilites at best.

I dont think the Zalman will ever be a big deal because you lose half the resolution in that type of polarized display. Even the Zalman isnt near the res I need regardless of the cost. Having every other line in 3d sucks, it is back to interlaced 3d all over again. I dont even do 3d gaming, I shoot 3d video and stills and I have a hacked 3d driver from MTBS to make my unsupported setup work.

Thought I would chime in here. I was a console gamer for years until about a year ago when I traded in my 360 for an 8800 gts for gaming and my htpc setup. I've been into computers and gadgets for years and never even knew about this stereo 3d thing!! On Saturday night, I installed the new 3d driver, got out the old red and blue glasses, had a great time for about 2 hours until the standard anaglyph migraine attacked me and I went to bed early lol.

My point is, if I knew this 3d stereo driver existed, I probably would have switched to pc gaming a long time ago, I love anything 3d. Since the drivers for the newer generation cards do not include other options for 3d like shutter glasses, I may even sell the 8800 and go for a 7 series card so I can try this out with other options besides the anaglyph or overpriced Zalman monitor's.

Nvidia, you may lose two sales here. I will sell my used 8800, and buy a used 7 series. If more people knew about stereo 3d in gaming, and you wrote similiear drivers as the 7 series for other 3d options, this could be huge I feel.

Yeah, Nvidia's stock just dropped like 40% per share within the last few months. That's HUGE. Apparently 9800GX2 and 9800GTX did not help at all. I do not know why they made incredibly complex 9800GTX boards (not GX2), that looked way more complicated than 8800GTX boards, but actually performed slower when not overclocked. They should have stopped at 8800GTS 512 and focused on other things (of course, a GX2 version was necessary anyway).

They have been promising fully functional Stereo3D since Novemeber, even claiming that it would work with 8xxx and up series, even in DX10 games. But why anaglyph only? I do not see how much harder it would be to include support for shutter glasses, but they probably got lazy and wanted to forget about us CRT users.

Well, guess what.. IZ3D's new driver also supports ATI cards in anaglyph mode for free, I think. I am really starting to save my money for the first day the R700 comes out and use it for my second computer with 24" LCD. My 24" CRT is left weeping with 2x 7900GTX cards in SLI that works with only a few games in Stereo3D (like 1/6 of the games I have), stuck at 93.71 forceware.

And yes, I hate the new driver because it is Vista-only on my 2nd computer that currently has 8800GTX in WinXP.

Signed.

Bought a 24" CRT and a 8800GTS 640 two years ago for stereo all I get is analgraph? And I am forced to install Vista to boot. Boooooo. My 10 year streak of buying only nVidia cards is about to end.

I am thinking an ATI card and the upcomming iZ3D drivers for my next upgrade.

I'm rather angry about this... the last time I was able to actually play one of my games in 3D using my edimensional shutter glasses was a few years ago when I was using an ATI radeon 9800... and the support for that was crap.

I bought a nvidia 7800, and four all this time have fought with it to play just a single game in 3d, using all the crappy drivers they've released. Now to play a game in 3d, nvidia wants us to "upgrade" to vista, and buy a completely new monitor?

I switched to nvidia because everyone praised their 3d support... looks like I made an error in judgement.

No 3d for years, then a driver that only supports one brand! What kind of bait-and-switch is this?

I was actually considering buying a Zalman (I still might), but this whole affair just leaves a sour taste in my mouth. Its basically the equivalent of say the new 9900 GTX only working on Dell 24" monitors and Vista 64-bit. How does this make any sense?

I´m one of the stupids that has bought the zalman monitor (curiosity more than any other thing), I have WindowsXP and VIsta, and all I can say is that it is better experience to play with shutters+crt than with this zalman solution. I am all days thinking to quit this zalman monitor from my desk, but I´m still waiting to love it something, and I have no other ways to play stereo with my 8800 videocard, so still remain in the desk.

It never is good thing to leave a company without competitor, and in stereo3d it is what happend..., and we can see the results. Arrogance, despotism, abuse, obligation to do what they want... this is what happend with this decision..., not only a decision but it is more a seal that characterizes people and say how they act and think. I love stereo, but these things make me really to rethink to forguet it for the moment, and wait until any other people/support that do not offend me so directly. This driver is clearly an offense, not a support (it is my opinion).
