@ Tritosine & projector users. Questions regarding continual use, bulbs, over all projectur usa
1- I am using the Viewsonic PJD6531w projector. It is in a room about 14 feet long and 10 wide and it has an incredibly large quality image which i love. The 3d images are fixed and it is working well with all of my 3d games. Still...for question 1, and since everyone seems to always talk about the acer projector - Is my projector a good projector? how does it compare to the Acer H5 whatever it is?

2- Is my image somewhat "larger" than what the acer's can do in a room my size? I have heard mine actually has a really good "throw" or sized image. (I love it)

3- I am running in economy mode and it supposedly will last about 6600 hours (2500 without economy mode). My projector has plenty of room next to it and above it to "breathe" and I keep the room almost always at about 70 degrees ferenheit. Can I just pretty much use my projector for about 8 hours straight when I play games or do I need to let it cool down?

4- The bulbs online seem to cost only about 250$. When I replace a bulb for my projector will it be pretty "easy and straightforward" to do?

5-My screen is a $120 screen which is pretty large (120" maybe - don't quite remember) and it looks really good when images are on it. Still, I hear others talk about getting a better "matted" or some weird term screen. Is mine pretty good or is there stuff out there that will make it look even a whole lot better?

6- On my pc i would run fallout or wow at 1600x1200 (or higher if i remember) resolutions in 3d. Is it true that I have to run 3d on my projector at 1200x720 maximum?

6-Any overall tips for a 2 month new projector user? I have the room nice and dark, pretty cool, and I'm loving it so far. 3d has been great with Fallout3, wow, re 5, etc. Any thoughts of any kind are greatly appreciated.

Thanks ya'll.

IME bulb lifetimes are a complete crapshoot, I've seen anything from half the claimed life time up.

Yes you usually open a panel, take the unit out and put the new one in. The only inconvnience is realigning the projector with the screen.

Screens certainly make a difference, how much you spend, and what you think it's worth are up to you.
I use a $350 106 inch fixed screen, I've used high gain (1.6+) screens and don't like them for 2D, I've never used an "expensive" screen.

The native resolution is 1280x800, but the maximum 3D resolution is 1280x720.

-matte white 120 usd screen is not cool for 3d, you want something that reflects back more light than standard white. Thats anything but white.
- it makes no sense to run the game at higher resolution than the native resolution of pj, it makes sense to enable anti aliasing to smooth jaggies.

-please try look for my posts I really tried to cover the screen stuff. Left click on my name, show posts.

tritosine...and others reading this...I simply don't have the time when posting from my silly ipad at work to browse like you are mentioning. Some of my questions are really fairly simple, and I could use the answers.

Such as...typically, do I want to let my projector "cool down" after being on for a few hours etc? Please take 30 sec to answer a few of my questions if ya can. I thought this may be a good place for other newer projector folks to get a few common answers.

Thanks again.

The manual is clear on this: what you can't do is switch in & out .

If you turn it off, leave it alone for a while ( half hour?), and don't turn it on instantly . Thats all.

Theres no such thing as overheat with prolonged use. They use these pj's at school & pubs you know...

... I'll make a blog with my screen stuff.
