So I have been playing Vanguard a lot lately, and for an old game it looks like it works pretty well with 3D, all the icons over NPC's heads are in 3D etc like names etc, which is quite surprising and very nice considering most AAA games don't even do that... Anyway, if I run it on 3D, and on full screen, I get an error in the middle of the screen that says "Out of memory" with a blackish transparent box surrounding it. The weird part is, the game is running flawlessly behind it. I'm almost positive this error is related to 3D, because if I turn it off, I don't get the error. Also, if I run the game in windowed mode, I don't get the error, and 3D still works. However, I can't change any 3D settings such as convergence or even depth. Then I installed Oblivion, same thing. After I got past the character creation and loaded the first sewer, same message.
So far, these are the only 2 games I have had this error with, it stops me changing any 3D settings and makes the game unplayable. Sad part is, they run flawlessly when this message is displayed, so it isn't like my hardware isn't handling it. I can run games like BFBC2, Metro 2033, in 3D with maxed or near maxed settings and no errors like this. I found a screenshot from a guy who has the exact same problem on oblivion, his ran flawlessly even with the message aswell.
I also recently reinstalled windows, had the error both before and after. I'm also a minimalist, I don't run extra programs, or install extra crap, just what I need to game and browse. DXDIAG attached incase it helps anyone help me...lol.

hello,
yeah me and several other people have been getting this error as well in games like oblivion, world of tanks, etc.
this problem seems to only occur in the 275.xx branch of drivers so for a temporary fix try a driver version before that like 266.xx (what ive found works best) or 270.xx
anyways the problem has been reported by me and others to nvidia and luckily it seems they have been able to reproduce the issue and should have it fixed in the next driver release

had the same with Lego Indiana Jones with 3D on. What I did was to close FSAA to OFF and that's it. Maybe you could try to lower your settings in game, it should help a lot.

This occurs with a few DX9 games. A fix will be introduced in the next driver.
We can't fix your bug if we can't reproduce it. Please provide as much details as possible including specs, steps to reproduce, graphics settings used, etc..
