Had 3D vision for about a week now and... Thoughts about 3D vision
1 / 6
EDIT2: Thanks everyone for your help and comments. Mafia II with the black textures has been fixed and it's nice playing it in 3D. My problem was to update the drivers I could've sworn I updated them but didn't lol. As for the other games I've added:
Lost Planet 2 - Amazing in 3D.
Medal of Honor - Not recommended
Alien Breed II - Its ok in 3D
Resident evil 5 - Amazing.
EDIT: Here's my video review about the 3D vision. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5JnnoEjp2iI Made the video the first day I got it. This post was made 3 weeks after.
Well having 3D vision for about a week and I've finally came to a conclusion. 3D vision is not meant for gaming. Why do I say this? Well maybe because the majority of the games that are "3D ready" are all terrible.
Mafia II - Textures are all black. - Unplayable
Dead Rising 2 - Unplayable
Gothic 4 - 8fps - Unplayable
Blur - You have to play at lowest setting. Whats the point??
Fallout vegas - Looks exactly the same (as in the 3D effect doesn't do much), sky and lighting problems.
Cities XL - Fair, but when clicking on objects have one eye closed for precision.
Fear 2 - Good, but again for accuracy have one eye closed.
Left 4 Dead 2 - By far one of the BEST games I've played in 3D.
Now Those are the games that I've ran into playing on my system and I do not have a cheapy system. Movies on the other hand is mostly where the money is. I've watched a few 3D movies:
Alice In Wonderland 3DBD 1080p
Bobs Big Break 3DBD 1080p
Bolt 3DBD 1080p
Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs 3DBD 1080p
Coraline 3DBD 1080p
Monster House 3DBD 1080p
All of the movies are amazing to watch in 3D. Just as if you where watching it in theaters BUT there is one major drawback. The glass block light and turns everything dark so you do enjoy the 3D effects but sacrifice brightness and it just darkens the colors. It is annoying at times but the movie is still watchable.
Spending over $800.00 on this 3D setup was an experience that not many people can do. The costs of video cards (470gtx), Monitor (Asus), and the nvidia kit is a little overwhelming for some people. This product is not a kickass product however it is not far from it. Nvidia does need to put in some more innovation into this technology, developers need to continue to work with nvidia on perfecting this 3D technology to WOW gamers into buying it. If you are doing this 3D thing for movies I say go for a 3D tv with a ps3. As far as gaming goes it's kind of hard to tell how this will end up but the bottom line is that IT NEEDS WORK. I know most of you are probably reading saying what is this guy talking about games are fine etc..... But ask your self this question. Why would nvidia label a game 3D ready when its the complete opposite?

lol, +1
Also, what is the rest of your system specs? All you mention is a 470 GTX.
It looks like you're running into issues that are outside the scope of 3D vision (for example, black textures in Mafia II).

IT doesn't matter! games that say they are 3D ready don't run well or don't run playable at all.

I hate saying this but you sound like me when I first got it. Put some time into learning the technical difficulties behind it. Keep in mind, YOU ARE AN EARLY ADOPTER like the rest of us. I do also agree that a game that says 3D Ready, which are only a handful, should be ready to play out of the box.
Relax
We will help you figure it out
But you really do sound like me in the beginning as well hee hee

They do for me, and I have a slightly less powerful system than you (faster CPU, less GPU). You have other issues, something is not installed/configured properly or something.

Also, what is the rest of your system specs? All you mention is a 470 GTX.
It looks like you're running into issues that are outside the scope of 3D vision (for example, black textures in Mafia II).

IT doesn't matter! games that say they are 3D ready don't run well or don't run playable at all.
