I downloaded the recent drivers today, excited, like i usually am for every driver update. However, this time i was greeted similar to getting punched in the face. Before the install even finishes, windows alerts me that the stereo 3D driver was not installed correctly. So I figure "no big deal, ill just restart my computer, that should fix it!" Wrong. I restarted my computer. No 3D.
So, I went into the NVIDIA control panel to assure everything was enabled in there. Everything was enabled, I decided to run the 3D test setup only to be informed that my Alienware OPTX2310 was no longer a 3D display. Once again, no big deal. I'll just redownload the 3D vision drivers and install those! easy fix! Wrong again. I get alerted that im installing an older version of the software, though i just click "Yes" anyway. Now, NVIDIA Control Panel wont even open without crashing.
I reinstalled the latest Drivers 197.75 WHQL, Which gave me my control panel back, though I no longer have 3DVision.
Not to sound brash, or anything. But what's going here? Why is there such poor support for this product? Why am i still waiting for a driver update so i can use my 3 OPTX monitors? Better yet, why cant i use 3D at ALL now?
Side note: For some reason, ever since I've upgraded to 196.xx drivers I cant even run crysis with an FPS over 2-3
Over the years, I've been pretty loyal to NVIDIA as a company, and I really hate to say this but if i dont have 3 GTX 480's in my computer powering my 3monitors in 3d Surround within 5-6 weeks, I'm probably going to be even more disappointed =(

Try this, uninstall current 3d drivers, go to C:\NVIDIA\DisplayDriver\196.75\WinVista_Win7\English run the 3d vision .exe, download the 196.21 3d vison drivers and install it. During the install it will ask about replacing files, tell it no. After that it should work, atleast it does for me anyway.

You need to re-install 3D Vision from the Full CD download (v 1.21) then run the 3D vision update from the new driver package which by default was extracted to c:\Nvidia\DisplayDriver\197.75 when you ran the driver install.

Have you ever installed mismatched drivers before. you need to extract the files from the 3d vision drivers and install the driver for the emitter manually (using device manager)
I am currently using 196.75 with the old 3dvision software from 1.20 and it works wonderfully

What is the proper way to upgrade to 196.75?

Ok, this is what you'll need to do
Install drivers 196.175
Unplug USB IR Emitter
Install Full CD 1.20 from nvidias website for 3D Vision
Clink "no" on everyone that wants to overwrite files
Plug back in USB IR Emitter

They just want us to get the 3d vision cd instead. Makes support easier if they know you've installed from the iso as to what gpu drivers and 3d drivers you have on there. Can't be that far away though!

That's what I'm saying, though -- why exactly do they think it's ok to make the high-end early adopter segment wait weeks longer than everybody else for a driver update??? Is it really THAT hard for them to post a 3d Vision "CD" update at the same time as the WHQL driver release?? /confused.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> I was patient at first, but this segment has been ramping up for over a year now and is poised to go mainstream (with options from several other manufacturers, to boot!). It's really time they started treating it as such and not a second-rate stepchild that they post drivers for if/when they have time.

I am in much agreement. We have bioshock 2, BC2 and soon a demo of Just Cause 2 - all titles are 3d certified and we dont have any drivers/profiles to go with them yet. I can wait but i only just broke down and started playing avp in 2D..

Let's hope the wait is worth it. They better have some cool bits in the new drivers... If not i cannot understand why they keep us waiting so long. Except the Fermi. But it would be strange if the 3d vision team would stop deving profiles just to help out with the Fermi. That's some bad managing right there.

Let's hope the wait is worth it. They better have some cool bits in the new drivers... If not i cannot understand why they keep us waiting so long. Except the Fermi. But it would be strange if the 3d vision team would stop deving profiles just to help out with the Fermi. That's some bad managing right there.
