Future of 3D Vision Support (Official announcement from NVIDIA)
I own an Oculus Rift but it is gathering dusk. I found the visual fidelity and overall experience to be poor in comparison to monitor 3d and have no intention of replacing 3d vision gaming with VR.
If you were using VorpX, you need a so called Profile for a game, otherwise your game will only show up in 2D. You will also have 2D only when using "Bigscreen" for example. I ran into the same thing when i was new to VR and went straight back to 3D-Vision. ;-) Just another sidenote about VR, i ve been a huge 3D-Vision Fan as well, though i play all my games now in VR using a high res HMD ( Vive Pro ) , and because of almost any game can be "fixed" to produce stereo output with VorpX, there is no more need to use 3D-Vision (for most games at least). Even games like "Dungeons" with lots of details and tiny monsters in the playfield overview are way more immersive in VR then with 3D-Vision. Not to speak about 3Rd or 1rst person games where monsters appear in LIFESIZE in 3D and you can physically walk around in the game. Perhaps with gaining resolutions and image quality of VR glasses , (Vive Pro ect) more and more people will swap over to VR . Though i still dont see a reason to cut 3D-Vision out of the drivers.

Its a Heart Attack, How will i continue to play War Thunder without 3D Vision Do any body confirm if we are able to play old titles in 3D Vision There should be a permanent patch for old games

Though beware that certain mods can slow down VR a lot. Besides if you want to use VorpX, the driver provides a technique that allows you to run critical games on low FPS without headaches.

VR is still way to expensive and too low resolution for me to invest in it yet. Just bought a second pair of 3d glasses as a backup, so hopefully can keep 3d vision going for a few years yet. Shame Nvidia are dropping it - it was one of the few technologies they introduced that worked. Now we have the 'more immersive' ray tracing and DLSS neither of which make much difference and cost a fortune.... I sincerely hope that AMD or Intel can finally provide some competition or PC gaming is doomed to ever higher prices and lower take up. The best thing nvidia could do is open source the 3d driver and allow others to take it forward. But will they ?

Man very sad news for sure. I hope they open source it for sure. but even then, couldn't we install the 3D vision driver portion by itself with newer drivers and play newer games in 3D as long as there is a fix for it? I understand newer hardware will probably not be support it.

I was going to ask that myself, as I always do a custom install with Nvidia drivers - only installing what I need. So can't I just install the graphics driver after 418, and uncheck all others (audio, 3D, physics) and keep the old 3D vision driver in place? or am I confused, and it will still overwrite/remove 3D vision driver?

One can open up the nvidia driver .exe with something like WinRAR, or even start installing it and copy the contents of c:\nVidia to another location before they are deleted. From this, there are folders called: NV3DVision and NV3DVisionUSB.Driver These can already be installed with other standard driver versions. (EDIT: Not always the case according to some posts.) However, I believe a significant part of nVidia's 3DV driver is inherently a part of their main driver, and it is this part which I believe they are planning to stop supporting. I wonder how long it will be before the general nvidia drivers stop supporting the install of the 418 3DV driver... FWIW, 419.35 still has a 419.35 3DV driver bundled with it.

I think we need clarification as to what this means. Theres got to be a way to install the Nvidia 3D drivers with newer drivers past 418. the thing that worries the most is not being able to use newer Video Cards with 3D vision. I really do hope it becomes open source. :/ I would be willing to pay, fund, for a program that offers an all in one 3D solution, that supports sbs, frame packing, Line interlace. That also supports passive TV's natively without having to install EDID overright, That works with Nvidia 3D vision kit, and includes subscription for game fixes. Maybe the shaderhackers and Paul can put their minds together and try to make this happen. Should also be sellable on steam. One can only dream. :*(

I have to say the move to legacy is getting more press then 3D Vision got in the last 8 years.

I'm so sad, you can't believe it. I really hope, NVIDIA makes 3D-Vision Open-Source, so there could be some kind of community-support. By the way: v419.35 still comes with 3D-Vision and is the only driver that works with GTA V for me. So what does it mean, driver support is stopped with v418 ?
