OK...I don't think 1080p is going to work. Why? Well, for one, I believe that the actual Nvidia driver is a limitation. If I use anything other than the stock original EDID from the known-working one I posted above all I get is that "Warning" message...despite if the 3D is working or not. Not only that but I can't see to get 32-bit color working with 1080p/120. Every time I select it that's what it defaults to. If I change in to 32-bit it changes to 16-bit. Since 32-bit is required for 3D Vision 120Hz doesn't seem to work so far. Thoughts? Ideas? Anyone know how to properly edit the EDID to prevent any of this?
See this thread for updating the player and using sub titles etc.... https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/541352/?comment=3790839 A DVI adapter really shouldn't do anything, it will still be recognized as a digital connection. The only thing that changes the way that the GPU sees that digital connection as being HDMI or DVI is the EDID. Single Link DVI and HDMI are forwards/backwards compatible. Dual link to HDMI cable version A is not compatible, the extra pins simply are not used.
Thanks for the link about updating the player...giving that a shot now. As far as the DVI to HDMI adapter goes I'm going to try it anyways as so far HDMI only is causing issues with syncing and all that stuff (video looks blurry, glasses flicker, etc). I mean, "TheONeill" seems to have gotten it working so I'm assuming that's a requirement and just something we're missing.
Whether you end up sending back the 3D Vision kit or not, I seriously recommend trying stereoscopic gaming. You could easily buy a cheap projector, DLP Link glasses and TriDef to use with your Radeon GPUs. Note that TriDef might not support crossfire, unless it's changed. Nvidia 3D Vision is a better solution, especially once you add in the community fixes. I was surprised to see that the GT 720 is using the GK208, which makes it an excellent bargain choice for watching video due to the added encoding features of Maxwell.
Honestly? I don't much care for 3D when gaming. I used to have the Alienware 3D monitor and Vision 2 with my GTX 580 back in the day and while it was pretty cool for the first couple of minutes my brain/eyes always adjusted and I'd end up losing the effect. Movies however don't have this effect on me, especially good movies like Avatar and Tin Tin. Also, yes, that is why I went with the GT 720. Like I said earlier...it's shit for gaming but for 3D Vision and 4K (which is what I cared about) I don't think you can do much better.

Apologies, I made a couple of mistakes. 3D TV Play works without a license if you have a 3D Vision emitter connected, monitors can also be connected via displayport, and DLP projectors can do 120hz at 720p. Thanks to D-Man for pointing those out, I've corrected my original post so people coming to this thread later aren't confused. Sounds like you've got a few approaches that hold promise, good luck. Please keep people updated on your progress, in case anyone else tries to do a similar thing.

Hooked it up to my 3D Vision Ready Mitsubishi DLP and was still presented with a "Continue trial or enter code" screen. If it's free how do I do it? Certainly doesn't seem automatic.
Ummmm...it seems you answered your own question there. If it's 3D Vision ready, then you use 3D Vision.
Actually...that's something I'm going to have to look into. According to Nvidia's website my DLP is 3D Vision Ready (model WD-60C9) but Nvidia didn't recognize it as such. Maybe it's an issue elsewhere...either way I definitely had to use the 3DTV Play to make it work with the TV.
If it's one of the first gen models, they required an update. You should check the FAQ section. Also, you'll need the mini din stereo cable to go from the TV to the emitter or you'll get a red overlay warning http://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/list/st/5/kw/Mitsubishi%20dlp/page/1 http://www.mitsubishi-tv.com/asset/file/software_update/WD-60C9.Software%20Update%20Instructions.pdf
Awesome! Thanks! And I did know about the stereo din and setting the TV to 3D mode. I mean, it worked fine...just the 3DTV Play thing which I now know how to fix. Awesome!

If you like the movies, the gaming with convergence can be even better. Since you were underwhelmed originally, I bet anything that you did not discover the way to unlock convergence to improve the image. Since you've already got the equipment, it's an easy thing to give a try and see what you think. It's strangely and badly locked away by default, for reasons that only NVidia knows. Go to the Stereoscopic control panel, and click the Set Keyboard Shortcuts, then open the Show advanced in-game settings arrow, then check Enable advanced in-game settings. With all that, you'll then have convergence available by Ctrl-F6, Ctrl-F5 for more, less. You have to hold Ctrl-F6 down for a long time, sometimes like 20 seconds to have it start to affect the image. Dialing up convergence allows you to determine how much pop-out effect you want from the game. I've been playing in 3D for more than 5 years, and I still get blown away by how good it looks.
Since you were underwhelmed originally, I bet anything that you did not discover the way to unlock convergence to improve the image.
No it isn't that...I just didn't care for it really. Like I said, no matter the convergence, 3D Ready rating, etc my eyes always got used to it. Only time playing that it actually stood out was things like the occasional particle. Meh. Plus with a GT 720 no 3D gaming is happening either way LOL!
So "stop saying 3DTV Play" if it's not, it will confuse others that stumble upon this thread.
It is though...or at least that's what I'm seeing. Still using the 3D emitter and glasses though. Had to start the 3DTV Play trial to use the TV though. Either way, going to play with it tomorrow and see what I come up with.
