Xboxstat.exe
I know a lot of people here use gamepads, especially you projector users. Sorry if this is a commonly known thing, but I only found out about it recently, after using an xbox gamepad for 3 years. The official xbox driver package installs something called Xboxstat.exe. The thing can be a ridiculous resource hog. I found it using 13% of my CPU a number of times, and I've read people saying it used 50% or even 90% on their systems. It's not actually needed for your gamepad to work. It just collects data about your games or something. I suggest going into msconfig and disabling it.

Hm, I don't seem to have that. I just let it auto install drivers though, as opposed ro installing a package.

Normally I do too. But I had to install it manually because my Razer Sabertooth (which is *supposed* to behave exactly like an xbox 360 gamepad) wasn't being recognised properly. Though looking around the net, it seemed that actual xbox 360 gamepad users also experienced the problem. But if it's only the manual install people who get this, that would explain why this isn't a more well-known problem.

I use a logitech. I insstalled the driver before but it didn't contribute anything so I uninstalled it. Having that icon show up on screen when you press the home button is annoying.
