Just Cause 2 is the best example of a big mac game. The ingredients were all terrible, but came together to make a salty, fatty and totally unhealthy snack that makes people want more.
Glad you had so much fun on GTQAIV bob3D. I've had plenty of discussion (argument) with a good friend who also loved it, and considered it his possible best game ever. But for me, wrap up all that production value in a San Andreas style environment (ott) and you have me sold on what would be a much more enjoyable for game for me.
Hopefully it will strike the right balance that we can both enjoy it!

I have spent 160 hours with JC2. Playing the campaign for a second time through using the Superman mod was a blast. Completely different game. Easily the game I played most three (or was it four) summers ago!
I've finished both games and I am not sure if I prefered GTA 4 over GTA3 SA. I edited out the dodgy glow effects and was happy to remove the shadows (I forget they are there and the cars still seem to produce a shadow below them) so I played them both in 3D and GTA4 is way more immersive in that mode. Flying around in helos is amazing.
Looking at that gameplay vid makes it look like GTA5 will play more like SA if you ask me. For one thing the sandbox allows the additional elements that were lacking in 4.

Lord, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.

When 5 releases on PC I will taking a few days off work. SA style map with modern graphics ..... in 3d, wonder what kind of horsepower its going to take to pull off 60fps in 3d max settings? May need to sli my system whoot

I am looking forward to GTA5. But when I think about it, it's actually going to have to do a LOT to impress me, because with other open-world games having outdone it in most areas recently, GTA has become a bit of a 'jack-of-all-trades' (master of none) franchise.
-After essentially being able to fly in Just Cause 2 and Batman: Arkham City, walking everywhere will seem quaint
-The driving won't be anywhere near as good as Driver: San Francisco or Need For Speed: Most Wanted
-The action won't be as intense as Prototype, as complex as Darksiders, or as wacky as Saints Row
-The environment probably won't be as fascinating as in the Assassins' Creed games.
-The story and characters probably won't be as captivating as the Batman games, or as involved as Skyrim/Fallout.
I hope that Rockstar have something amazing up their sleeves. Otherwise, I fear that the grandfather of open-world might be getting too middle-of-the-road.
It's Rockstar, so it probably will be good. Though at this stage, I'm looking forward to Watch Dogs and Thief (especially Thief!) more.

It's hardly a rock-solid source, but there are murmurings that the pc version may come out soon, and that it may be a TWIMTBP title.
That sounds legit
Nvidia + Rockstar are in bed [La Noire/ Max Payne 3]
Though I really dont want to imagine its crazy performance issues after "nvidia optimizing". La Noire is a pretty strong example of what can happen. Even ignoring 30 FPS cap... it kind of runs terrible.

YEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!
My wife asked what I wanted from Father Christmas and I said GTA5. See, Father Christmas does exist! ;0)
Seriously. That news is the Christmas present I was asking for.
I no longer have to buy a console!

The good news is its going to have some nice features. Nvidia was probably foaming at the mouth when they accidentally leaked it.
Something seems off about first quarter though imo.
It's probably going to happen, but that link you provided gives no substantial evidence towards it so we're officially no closer than we've ever been.
