Dragon Age II in 3D
  1 / 6
Has anyone had a chance to play this yet in 3D? Just curious of how it's looking and if it looks any better in 3D than the first one. Got it preloaded on steam, but won't get to play it till this evening....stupid work.

I am also waiting on this. The demo version seemed to work but not as good - as the parallax was a little screwy when characters got close to the screen as opposed to being placed out of the front screen like in the first Dragon Age Origins.

I'm hoping a profile gets made pretty soon from Nvidia for this game.

Its not great. Convergence is locked and any amount of depth has ghosting in the background.

Hi 3Dizzy!

Aren't these screenshots of the demo version? We are more interested in the actual game.

I'd love for Andrew@Nvidia to pop in and give us a date for releasing a profile for DA2.

Not only is the 3D not great as mentioned above, but the dx11 performance is HORRIBLE. Judging by the screenshots and video previews of the game, i imagined that i would easily be able to run it in dx11, highest settings and in S3D. I cant even get higher than 15 FPS with S3D off, and there are black triangle artifacts all over the ground.

Lastly all good games seem to have not present 3d vision. Another desilution... posible fix in next months when game has no interest. Nvidia must change things.

And please, enable convergence for all games, it is an stupid restriction to noobs that kill deph. We are not so stupid, and know how to tweak convergence when is not locked.

Steiner you need the latest beta driver, i had the same issues but it sorted the textures and gave me a little boost in FPS but no that much, still performs like crap on very high DX11, i7 950 @ 4.0ghz and 570 @ 900\1800\2100 /thumbup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Yeah i actually figured that out right after my last post. Better FPS and no black texture artifacts now. But still only 20FPS in 3D, sometimes less, but it seems like it sits right at 20 most of the time. This is with no AA or AF, or AO and DoF.

Another thing i noticed is that, for me, the convergence isn't locked, but the 3D is backwards, so i have to wear my glasses upsidedown. In other games that have this backward problem, i can usually alt-tab out of the game and pull it back up again to fix the problem, but for this game its not working.

*edit* disabling vsync fixes the reversed eye problems. And the main 3D issues i'm seeing, other than mentioned convergence needing constant adjusting, is that the sky/sun are at wrong depth, and smoke and fire effects just look wrong for whatever reason. If you're not somewhere that you can see the sky or smoke/fire, the game looks pretty nice in 3D, like 1 did.

Very sad - this is the first time Bioware truly disapointed me, sigh. Dumbed down console game, absolutely zero rpg value... I'd rate s3d as 2 out of 10, even orginal game with some tweaks to convergence looked much better. Dont buy - wait for reviews, read forums etc. My 2 cents.

20 FPS should be OK in a game like this. There isn't much point in having fast reaction times so there's no big need for FPS. I was hoping that NVIDIA would get the current beta drivers WHQL signed by now, though.

P.S. Lawdy I'm getting sick of the RPG l337 crowd talking about how this isn't an RPG.

P.P.S. Has anyone tried renaming the game to "daorigins.exe" to see if that works better?

Most of preliminary reviews and forum discussions would warn a player that DA II is a piece of crap. 5 hours into the game - I concur. S3D sucks too. End of story. Dumbing down RPG elements worked for ME2 but it does not work for DA II.

Been playing a while and I dont like any of the changes they made, but I dont hate the game by any means. Feels more like KotOR than DA1 to me, but i loved KotOR so its all cool i guess.

And the S3D is actually pretty nice after a while, especially when you're moving around in the city and other places where you dont get much of a glimpse at the sky.

A lot of negative feedback for this game. To me, it's a big step up from the garbage that was DA:Origins. The only reason I finished that game was because it looked awesome in 3D.

I'll wait on Nvidia to release a better profile and fix some of the issues with 3D. I'm enjoying the combat, and interface. It's much much faster and not that boring slow motion movement. I just hope this game doesn't throw a gazillion of the same monsters at you for hours on end like the last one.

I've enjoyed the 5 or so hours I've played so far.
They've "dumbed" some of it down, you don't have to micromanage armor on all of the characters, there is no top down view and the default difficulty level turns off friendly fire, but at least to me it's clearly a good sequel.

According to Steam I apparently spent 98 hours playing DA:Origins, so I'd count myself as a fan of the franchise.

Now I do think the appalling performance is unacceptable, hopefully Bioware and NVidia can get it addressed relatively quickly.
