Nvidia - Andrew! Reply already with Witcher 2 3d problems since it is supposedly 3d READY !

Any time now, CD Projekt. As soon as you release that patch, I can finally play this wonderful game (been holding off because I wanted to make my first play through completely 3D).
I mean honestly, aside from the performance issue, I think it's great to finally have a deep RPG that works flawlessly in 3D. I can't think of any PC RPGs that don't have some sort of issue in 3D, such as a 2D cursor, 2D NPC icons, shadow and/or lighting problems, etc. This is the first AAA PC RPG I can think of that's utterly flawless in 3D. I hope there are more soon in the future (not holding my breath for Skyrim being 3DV Ready though judging from what Beth has said in the recent past about 3D support).
Considering Blizzard's support for 3D so far, I think it's safe to say Diablo III will have great 3D support, so there's that at least.

No one has scared me off, I've just been really busy at work and trying to juggle two kids at home. Its not fair to say that I only post when we have new products. If you check my frequency and number of posts, I'm pretty highly ranked :).
With regards to your specific question, the 3D Vision performance issues will be addressed in the 1.3 patch which should be out today or tomorrow. "
Andrew,
First I would like to say that I appreciate the times when you have been around and that you are always pleasant to deal with on these forums. That being said, I must state the following to be accurate with my perception...
...Nobody is really saying that you only post when you have new products, but that you have intentionally ignored the community here. While you have two kids at home (as do many of us), the fact remains that it takes all of about 3 minutes to write a response here. How hard would it of been to show some improved customer service and simply check in and tell us "hey all. I am working to find out some more information regarding the fact that 3d is completely broken in the witcher. I think we may have a fix at xx date ?" This takes extremely minimal time and it helps us schedule and plan when to use your product. We as your consumers need to be able to gauge when Nvidia 3d Vision will work appropriately. Perhaps it may seem as if we have no lives, but it is quite the opposite. Many of us are working professionals with families that simply want to plan when your product will actually work so that we can enjoy it in its' greatness. If it is in a few days, we can buy the witcher 2 and or 3d vision kits. If it is farther off then we can pass. Where else are we to go when your product is not working as stated?
Some part of your job description includes your being a part of these forums. If you tell us that you have been too busy, well...sorry to say that it looks like a crock and unprofessional. Does Nvidia really want all of this steam brewing over 3d vision not working appropriately in the witcher 2 after you have said that it is "great in 3d" etc?
- If you are too busy then you are basically saying the community is not important enough to respond to for over 3 weeks? A couple minutes is hard to find?
- If you reply and say that your job is not to communicate on these forums consistently and that they are simply customer to customer, then Nvidia is openly telling us that we are not worth communicating to? I doubt it.
- If you only reply a couple days prior to this "should be out in a few days patch", then the REALITY IS THAT YOU HAVE BEEN BROWSING THESE FORUMS AND ELECTED TO REPLY ONLY ONCE YOU KNEW AN EXACT DATE OF THE PATCH (which is still not out, so you seem to be inaccurate here as well)
Look, all I'm suggesting is that you elevate Nvidia's game and your customer service level. How about this? Try something unique and rewarding, actually talk to us when we throw up OBVIOUS multiple forum pages of concerns regarding your broken product. I guarantee it would stem off this heated tension regarding a broken service you claim to provide. Or should I/we simply take my statement, your broken product, poor customer service, and your false promises to the Better Business Bureau?

Some of this Andrew bashing is getting out of hand. This is a user to user forum and no one from Nvidia is obligated to post here at all. Yes, I am frustrated that the game has performance issues and is almost unplayable in certain areas. My biggest fear is some developer reading some of the threads here and deciding that supporting 3D Vision in a future game isn't worth all the aggravation.

I am not pointing out one person or another in particular for what I said - I just mean the overall accumulation of the posts in these threads about the game.

Why? Because he always has free time when it suites nvidia, but as soon as there are problems he is no where to be seen as he is suddenly 'busy'? This consistnetly happens, if a developer decides they don't want to support 3d, so be it. I'm fine with that, just if a film maker wants his film in 2d and not 3d. However if they stamp a 3d vision logo on the box and advertise how great it works, and then it is so bugged they clearly havn't even treied the game in 3d for more then a few minbutes is completely unnacceptable.
Just imagine if the new Harry Potter movie in 3d was so buggered most of the film run at a tenth of the normal speed. Should customers simply be okay and understanding of that? Know I have sent e-mail to both nvidia and cd project and I have yet to get a responce, and I have sent several sinve the release date. That is also unacceptable.

I'm not bashing Andrew specifically, and I apologize if that's the way I made it sound - he's very polite and never condescends to anyone here, and generally answers questions.......eventually. I'm more pissed about Nvidia's lack of commitment to giving their product support proper funding and staffing. Andrew can only do so much being one guy and I'm sure he has to do a lot more for Nvidia than simply browse these forums for feedback every now and then.
There are a lot more issues with 3D Vision than just the lack of a good user-to-developer forum, and most of them stem from Nvidia just not recognizing how much support a proper stereoscopic product needs. They really shouldn't be treating their 3D drivers/profiles as afterthoughts to their main GPU drivers. The support needs to be far more robust if they ever want the product to get past the niche stage.

All your posting is achieving that you'll get to hear nothing from any nVidia person anymore. It's just sad, that you're incapable of even realizing that.

There is no such thing as "too much support", in that way you're correct. Also there are many profiles which could be improved, agreed on that, too.
But on the other hand, most of the problems with 3DV are caused by the games and the driver just can't magically fix them. So even a better support would only give us a slightly better experience.
If you think nVidia's support is not enough, then look for the alternatives. Maybe you'll find better support there. I'm almost 100% sure that you won't find it, though.

Honestly can't be sure what your saying here. If you want to make a point you haven't done a very good job. But if a customer e-mails having issues, to not respond to them after almost two months is unacceptable. How cna you even begin trying to and say i'm being unreasonable expecting a responce when they have sold a faulty product to me.

So if there is only one cinema in a country and they take your money then only play half the film. Does that make it okay as there where no alternatives? Also competitors to nvidia with regards to this issue have provided a work around, something nvidia said they would do but never did.

I don't know what you wrote to whom. Getting no reply means that you either used the wrong address to write to or that the support is indeed not very good.
I think it's probably the latter one, since it's extremely rare to get an email reply from any big company (I tried when I wanted to get some details a couple of years ago for working with profiles in nHancer).
Still, I'm glad that there are some persons from nVidia looking in here every now and then, to get at least a bit of information and to have someone to listen to our problems. I want appreciate that person a lot, especially since he's probably not even paid to do that. The last thing I want to do is to scare him away by blaming him for everything and complaining that he's not posting enough or that something he said was "a lie" etc.
But you're doing a great job with that, so I think it might be already to late. Thanks a lot.

If you'd read my other comments you'd realize I'm well aware of (and disappointed in) the lack of a better 3D solution. However, while you're right in that many 3D problems are caused by the games and rely on the developers to fix them, this still doesn't mean it's out of Nvidia's hands. With a more robust support team and better developer relations, they could opt to work more closely with developers to fix problems that are outside of the 3D Vision drivers' control. That is, after all, Nvidia's aim with their developer relations program to begin with. They're just not putting enough money into it.

Everyone should be aware that Nvidia's lack of committment to 3D goes back long before 3D Vision. The original Forceware 3D driver was sparsely updated, and when it was it was mainly compatibility updates. That lasted ten years with no real improvement. Then they repackaged the same driver only now with a revamped interface, no OpenGL, and even less features and you had to pay for it.
I'm looking at a long timeline of Nvidia half assing their 3D stereo drivers. It also seems to be the modus operandi for the present. And the future is not looking real great either.

Hi
As many of you know the Witcher 2 is launching next week and its going to be an amazing game. We have been working with the game developer to ensure the game looks great in 3D.
Please note we wil be releasing a new driver soon which contains the fixes for Witcher 2. Please do not use 270.61 with this game as it has problems that we know about.
I'll post again when the driver is available.
Thanks and happy gaming.

I trusted him, and he lied. Notice the use of the words ensure, and that the patch to make it all work well would be soon. This was posted on the 13th of May. You ask why I'm not happy, because I was lied to. Very simple, he may have been given misleading information, but the fact remains Nvidia has lied to its consumers and profited from it.

-Cheers

What the heck happened to the "edit" feature?

Some of this Andrew bashing is getting out of hand. This is a user to user forum and no one from Nvidia is obligated to post here at all. Yes, I am frustrated that the game has performance issues and is almost unplayable in certain areas. My biggest fear is some developer reading some of the threads here and deciding that supporting 3D Vision in a future game isn't worth all the aggravation.
[/quote]

I'm looking at a long timeline of Nvidia half assing their 3D stereo drivers. It also seems to be the modus operandi for the present. And the future is not looking real great either.
