Nvidia? Look at this official answer from Samsung Electronics

Dear Nvidia
Below is the statement I got from Samsung electronics research department about V-Sync malfunctioning with Nvidia video card
please analyze and give me official statement from Nvidia
1. When using GTX 580 @ 1280 x 720 60Hz , frame packing. v-sync malfunctions.
when 46C8000 was connected to PC, and using frame packing same malfunctioning happens
Same with TA950 and Sony KDL46LX900
from these results, I can only assume that V-sync malfunctioning (occasional askew horizontal position ) is not the problem of Samsung TV. It's from malfunctioning video card's unstable output source

Although it's not necessary, if you feel the need to bring the topic back up the list, simply Reply with just the single word "bump" (or Edit if you just want to point out a change in title). Kinda insistent, but preferable to reposting altogether, as Searches tend to focus on titles as well — resulting in added sort and display times without any return but a blank space...

It's not a user option. And most of us would understand a misspelling — it's pretty common anyway.
I'm just a User, as you are, but the Tech Support rep said there had been a change in the way the API handles a few things in Win7, like connecting to and interfacing properly to HDTVs, and that nVidia was still trying to adapt to the new API before much longer. Might apply to you, but you didn't mention your OS. I'm just guessing it's as new as your mentioned equipment...

Hi
I just saw this thread and I will watch the YouTube video now.
3DTV Play supports three different modes for playing 3D Games: 720p60, 720p50, and 1080p24.
720p60 means 1280x720 at 60Hz
720p50 means 1280x720 at 50Hz
1080p24 means 1920x1080 at 24Hz
Each mode has Vsync enabled, which means you cannot get higher frames per second than the refresh rate.
If you look at your Resident Evil video in the bottom left hand corner of the video you will see the resolition is listed at "1920x1080". Its the second line from the bottom. This means you are running at 1080p24 and the maximum frames per second is 24fps.
Your video shows that the Resident Evil 4 benchmark tops out at 24fps.
So I think there is no problem, this is all as expected.

u did not understand my words? really?
i did not mean "vsync not working"
vsync work but
still tearing appear
tearing, tearing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
do u know tearing?
do u see tearing in that video?
i am not foolish man
i know what is vsync
24hz?60hz?
it is not matter
main problem is tearing
terrible tearing
ok
u said this is normal
then
why this problem does not happen in dx9?
why?
samsung devellopement man found this tearing in his laboratory too
and he sent me mail above
i really relly regreat i can not speak english
i am crazy now coz u can not understand this serious problem
don,t see video
do play dx10 ,dx11 game right now
then u can see tearing which u can not make it disappear
this problem always appear when i playng game in dx10 and dx11 mode
and always appear 1920*1280*24 hz and 1280*720*60hz
in all game (world in conflict and wow dx11 mode, lost planet 2,h.a.w.x.2 ,stone giant demo
crysis,just cause2,,battle field bad company..etc....)
there is no 1 exception
of course i had make enabled vsync option already
but in dx9 mode there is no tearing ,very very fine
only in dx10 and dx11 mode tearing appear
in these days
i bought many video card to solve this problem
gtx260,,gtx480,,gtx570,,gtx580
but i could not solve yet
look at this u-tube video carefully
in there some tearing will be seen all the time to the last
Today I went to Samsung shop with my computer and tested 3 more Tv.
actually it was hard for me to do it. I coudn't do it without the help of Samsung. But the result was the same.
tearing existed in all tv.
The result suggests that vsync control may have some problem when gaming frame packing mode based on hdmi 1.4 with nvidia 3d stereo scopic driver, I guess. Particularly in the case of dx10 and dx11.
In my case, most of games are over 60fps when vsync disabled as I'm using gtx580 vidio card. 150fps and 200fps come out at times.
So I must play game with vsync enabled. All games are fixed 60fps or 24fps with vsync enabled. as a result It's apparent that vsync perfectly works on game.
But still there is a matter, which how the video card control my 3d tv.
vsync function that come from Nvidia video card don't control entirely 3d tv screen.
The matter is likely to appear because some parts of the screen seem to be controled by vsync and the other don't be.
It's able for my Samsung 3d tv to realize 3d in other way ,not hdmi 1.4 ,which the frame packing 60hz(30hz+30hz) with the same way of Nvidia : called "page flip" by Samsung.
I could confirm that Nvidia vsync fully controled tv screen using 9500gt and 3d vision ir emitter in this way.
It was just frame highly decreasing that trouble me. and tearing never appeard like gtx580.
I think, therefore, the one of the underling cause of this matter is hdmi 1.4 fram packing mode.
I hope you Nvidia to reexamine these parts, please.

The tearing happens also with PS3/XBOX360 with Samsung when 'Game Mode' on (and it should be on ofc when gaming). So it might not be NVidias fault.
With some Samsung 2010 TVs the tearing got better with later fw updates but for example 3D crosstalk is worse especially in some plasma models.

yes why not
i am already have test more 100 times in 1280*720P 60Hz
did u play metro 2033 in dx10 mode ?
u can see it soonerly
by the way
andrew?
do u have read samsung electronics official report(answer)?
they sent me email about their test result
as like this
below is from samsung electronics

It's from malfunctioning video card's unstable output source

u have to pay attention to this point
this tearing only happen in dx10 and dx11
if in same game in dx9 mode ,there is no problem ,very fine, no tearing in dx9

Hi
I have a series of questions to ask
- are you using SLI?
- This only occurs on DX10 and DX11 apps?
- This repro on 720p60 and 1080p24?
I need as much info as I can to try to get a repro in house.

Might apply to you, but you didn't mention your OS. I'm just guessing it's as new as your mentioned equipment...
miss typing "offical" ===>official
so i was afraid if they don't know what i saying
but i did not know how can i edit or remove "title"
can u teach me it?...

Hi
I just saw this thread and I will watch the YouTube video now.
I just watched your video and its not a bug.

With some Samsung 2010 TVs the tearing got better with later fw updates but for example 3D crosstalk is worse especially in some plasma models.

yes why not

did u play metro 2033 in dx10 mode ?
u can see it soonerly
by the way
andrew?
do u have read samsung electronics official report(answer)?
they sent me email about their test result
as like this
below is from samsung electronics
#############################################################################
###############################################################################
1. When using GTX 580 @ 1280 x 720 60Hz , frame packing. v-sync malfunctions.
the proof
http://www.youtube.c...player_embedded
Tested with
PC with GeForce GTX 580
TVs : Samsung 46" 46C8000 , 27" TA950 (2011 model)
Sony KDL46LX900
Result:
when 46C8000 was connected to PC, and using frame packing same malfunctioning happens
Same with TA950 and Sony KDL46LX900
from these results, I can only assume that V-sync malfunctioning (occasional askew horizontal position ) is not the problem of Samsung TV. It's from malfunctioning video card's unstable output source

- are you using SLI?
- This only occurs on DX10 and DX11 apps?
- This repro on 720p60 and 1080p24?
I need as much info as I can to try to get a repro in house.
