It is just a desktop version of the same hardware that surgeons are using on remote micro surgical instruments, I don't think that is "early stages".
If you mean a first step to get 3D feedback controls on desks, then yes I suppose it is a "baby step", but this is a very high quality professional unit *with* force feedback in 3 dimensions.
I asked the guy who programmed in a modification for 3D in AssaultCube to put down some facts as to how it works.
I may be wrong, you may be right. But at least this guy actually has programmed a software game to be native Stereo 3D:

The simplest way to do native stereoscopic rendering is just to render the scene, change the projection matrix, and the viewport/colormask/stencilfunc and render the scene again. I don't know if that is the fastest method, but it works OK. I would expect it to make it twice as slow (unless vsync is the limiting factor), but I don't know for sure. The Sharp3D method needs 3 passes instead of 2, so it would be slower than the others.
It might be faster for some stereoscopic methods to render each object twice, instead of rendering the whole scene twice, but I haven't tried it yet. I think it would be slower for anaglyph because you would have to swap depth buffers all the time, but for interlaced or seperate viewport methods that isn't necessary.
I haven't really optimised AssaultCube at all. But it is a fairly old engine, and I think it has a level-of-detail feature that tries to keep the frame-rate constant, so it isn't the best stereoscopic performance test.

I would expect that if nvidia or anyone else with a propriatory driver could "tweak" the perspective in a second view on a already rendered scene so could a game developer, without a complete recalc. This is what I forsee and will help performance significantly(if D3D or OGL can allow dual screens that is).

For VR dumbo. Virtual reality is a space with 3D Realism IE giving touch responses feeling textures IE what you can do with reality. Force feedback is not VR neither is 3D stereo. Leadtek Has been working on true VR for ears now.

But OK, I can agree to that aspect of VR. But . . .
I will submit that in general with games you don't go around rubbing all of the walls with your fingers, you hold a gun/crowbar / steering wheel / rock, basically some object with which you interact with the virtual world.
As long as you can create an object (as a simple connectable to the novint falcon for example.) and apply realistic forces to it you will get the correct feedback.
I also many times contact the world around me with pliers (or forceps, if you were a doctor using a haptic feedback surgical instrument), so a game in which you are a robot merely needs some sort of VR/Haptic handles attached to that novint falcon.
You can feel the surface texture of objects with this device, that is the whole point of it.

People can't be bothered about anything, that's why nobody cares.

I am truly sorry you feel this way.
I was angry at the other user for claiming that Dual stereo vision puts twice the load on the system, that is simply not true (unless of course you choose to do it that way). It may put double the load on some parts of the video subsystem, parts that are capable of handling the load.
I know that you don't seem to grasp the reason for this sub-forum, it is clearly titled 3D stereo, if you don't care about 3D Stereo, you don't have to come in here and bash people who are discussing it.
As for "most people don't", that is a ridiculous argument, the fact remains that we are upset that the rug has been pulled out from under us users of nVidia 3D stereo solutions on a reasonable budget (~$150-$200 cards that are twice as fast as our current cards are non-functional in Stereo), and the OP simply asked why we don't have proper support in games.
The short answer is we don't have proper dual screen support in most games yet, the long answer is that the game companies don't give a damn, and the end users don't either. It is very difficult to educate people on the differences in quality when the majority of the people still think that bigger chromed rims and culvert pipes hung under their bumper will improve their cars.
I don't know why this thread is so off track, he was asking if any knowledgeable people why we can't get dual output from the games themselves.
I would like to hear more about any technological hurdles that may need to be crossed as much as the OP of this topic does.
Thank You.
Edit:
As far as the cost goes, the users of Dual stereo viewing systems can be broken up, and $40 will get you enough equipment to do this at just about any second-hand store.
All of these require a dual head video card, since that is all of them and this is an nVidia forum I will assume that will not need to be purchased, you can add $25-$100 for your choice of video card (from geforce 6200-7900 on ebay in good condition)
1. two monitors, CRT or LCD, or a combination of the two with a mirror http://www.crystalcanyons.net/pages/TechNo...talViewing.shtm . (you already have one, another is $20 at your local second-hand store, you may need a DVI-VGA adaptor, they are $3 http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?s...+vga&category0= )
* borrowing a second screen is also an option, or you can try this at a friend's house.
2. Two LCD monitors on a desk with a piece of standard glass and some $0.50 - $3.00 glasses, you may have a laptop with video output, you could use the laptop and an LCD screen to do this type, the glasses are linear polarized and available from berezin.com
3. Two LCD monitors on a desk with half-silvered acrylic from http://www.telepromptermirrors.com/ or half-silvered glass from a local glass shop, and the polarized glasses:

4. Many head-mounted displays, especially VR headsets with 6 degrees of freedom head tracking.
5. Dual projectors, either DLP with added polarizing filters, or LCD with a mirror on one for flipping the polarization.
He is not asking for anything that is wrong. The movie theaters are conspiring to charge you more for 3D movies and keep the circular polarized DLP projection wheels out of the reach of the consumer.
If the software is available that is one less door that is shut on bringing the technology forward.
I don't know why there is this closed attitude toward technically possible ideas that greatly improve immersion and gameplay*, and is available at a reasonable price.

This is also a misconception. They THINK they are happy since the alternative are either too expensive or technically complex. If those obstacles were to be removed we would get a ketchup effect in this business for sure. It´s my conviction that S3D is going to prevail, it´s just a matter of time.
Now this very topic was to discuss a feasable way to actually acheive this. Think about it: -Before we had cell-phones people were "perfercly happy" with a fixed line, just because the alternatives would simply not appeal to the mainstream customer for the very same above reasons.

yes, and before cars everyone had a horse.
I don't know why he is complaining. Like two monitors and a mirror are unobtanium, I didn't say grab an adamantium mirror and two gold gilded LCD screens.
I would rather have stereoscopic 3D games than a 24" or 30" screen, it is the gangsta wheels syndrome, bigger isn't better guys (ever seen a 10" lift kit so a guy can fit 26" rims on his CAR!! Or 30" RIMS!!! Horror. And then looking behind that wheel is a rusty drum brake and the wheels won't even track because they ruined all of the joints that hold the alignment in place.)
Or how about the people who think that the 800x600 projectors at the local outlet store are 1080p just because they can accept 1080p? Not HD doesn't look really good on them, just it could look much better.

mate, you have made all this custom stand and everything, and kudos to you as it looks awesome (i never said it wasnt good /thumbup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> ) just u cant expect people to go to all that effort can you.
it needs a big push by manufacturers. maybe if (for example) a game like WoW patched it so that it worked REALLY well in S3D and then struck sme deal with monitor manufacturers, like got it out to the general population, then maybe you would be on to something, the market would be built and more developers would support it because the customers demand it.
at present, the market isnt there and you have to go to extreme lengths, ie making stands, buying extra custom parts, the customer wants to buy a box that displays 3d, not buildit from scratch.

You can check this for yourself with any two screens and any mirror, no need to go building a stand, that was the whole point of my bit above.
yes, you read correctly, EA of all people will be delivering 3D Stereoscopic games.

Why does everybody want new cards? Did you want a new video card the first time you played a game? Probably not. What about after you realized that a lot more can be done about what you thought is enough? Did you want a better card then? If yes, it means you were not happy with the visuals.

Not HD doesn't look really good on them, just it could look much better.

it needs a big push by manufacturers. maybe if (for example) a game like WoW patched it so that it worked REALLY well in S3D and then struck sme deal with monitor manufacturers, like got it out to the general population, then maybe you would be on to something, the market would be built and more developers would support it because the customers demand it.
at present, the market isnt there and you have to go to extreme lengths, ie making stands, buying extra custom parts, the customer wants to buy a box that displays 3d, not buildit from scratch.

at present, the market isnt there and you have to go to extreme lengths, ie making stands, buying extra custom parts, the customer wants to buy a box that displays 3d, not buildit from scratch.

EA, Samsung and Hitachi are already in the game and pushing for 3D.
Zalman and iZ3D have monitors for purchase right now.
You can check this for yourself with any two screens and any mirror, no need to go building a stand, that was the whole point of my bit above.
yes, you read correctly, EA of all people will be delivering 3D Stereoscopic games.
