Tridef lets you create your own game profiles, but NVIDIA does not.
  1 / 2
There is another 3D driver out there called TRIDEF. They are not even as big as NVIDIA BUT EVEN THEY LET YOU CREATE YOUR OWN PROFILES FOR GAMES.

Has anyone here used TRIDEF?

1. Does TRIDEF work with nvidia 3d glasses and emitter? If not is there a hack?
2. Does tridef work with nviida video cards?
3. Does it only do anaglyph?

The fact that they let you profile games yourself is very impressive and their developers are always in communication with their community. But it just seems they don't have the financial power that NVIDIA does. I hate to go researching other 3D solutions but I really wish NVIDIA would step up.

I have it, and yes it works with nvidia 3d vision. I just bought it for the 2D to 3D media player, but it does games too. Cool thing is, it renders it sort of different then nvidia does. So it is easier to adjust convergence and all that, meaning less ghosting(for me at least) Unfortunately I haven`t checked it so much out. One thing though is it takes a lot of performance, don`t know if its me doing something wrong, or simply not checking every game out. And, I think you can only play games that is sort of approved by tridef(don`t take my word on that) I can`t give you any specific details because I really haven`t checked it out. I`m off to work soon so I may check some things out out when I get back unless anybody else can help you.

You should really research and this is also not the right place...

1. No at least I thought but user above says so I don't know.I think user above means 3d tv play can work with it. I tried DDD with nvidia glasses on demo was a no go. Says this on faq.
Is TriDef software compatible with the NVIDIA 3D Vision glasses?

No.

The 3D glasses provided with the DDD Starter Pack are compatible with Samsung 3D Enabled HDTVs.

(If you have a projector dlp-link glasses are good they can run 40-100 bux)

2. Depends on what your 3d display is certain ones will only work work through amd drivers/card
3. Stereoscopic. They even let you set convergence at 3 points and it scales in between them. So you can set thing at close range mid range and far.

Jenson, are you just a list-obsessed troll or do you simply not understand posting the same issue over and over again isn't going to get you anywhere?

You've brought it to attention, leave it at that. There's no need to take every available opportunity to say OMG NVIDIA SUCKZ CAN'T EVEN MAKE PROFILEZZZZZZZZZ OH NOES!

I like Jensen. He brings up a lot of sh-it that most aren't thinking about, or are too afraid to complain about. Maybe he can be a bit harsh about it but I think thats awesome. He has ideas about how to improve that I've never even thought of, and I do like what he brings in. Yall joke about the interview thing, but if he has a chance for nvidia to hire him, I say they should. He's an idea man. /thumbup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

I also think he brings up a good point. It would be awesome if Nvidia had a specific location of all the 3D vision settings for all the games we play with them specifically on our individual PCs. Then, when it comes time for a driver update, the drivers are updated and all our settings are still saved on that one file.

I hate how everytime there is a new driver release, I have to go into each game's profile in the Nvidia control panel and turn back on AF, FSAA, etc all over again. I would have thought Nvidia would have put all that info into a separate file by now so it stays after each driver install.

I waited 6 months for basic, minor GUI/inteface improvements. Now that the 6 months are up, I'm convinced that nVIDIA 3d vision dept is inferior.

I'm just fed up with the bull crap. One thing I've learned throughout the last 9 years of development is that ANYTHING is possible. The only limitation is your own will. The will of NVIDIA developers is utter crap compared to what I've seen at the various companies I worked for. You can tell that they are:

1. burned out
2. lazy

I'm not bragging, I'm not boasting. But given 2-3 months I could guarantee a 3D ready stamp on every game ever made for directx in the last 10 years using nvidia's existing stereo 3d tech. They just need someone with heart and passion to step up and deliver.

I even offered to Andrew to work for NVIDIA for free and I'd sign all the proper contracts. Andrew ignored me that dumb ignorant freak. What a corporate piece of crap. I hate corporate trash.

You ever see pirates of silicon valley? Remember the 60-70 hour club? You rarely see that anymore. That is true heart, true dedication. I'm talking about eating a high vegetable diet to supplement your brain so you can code for long periods of time.

NVIDIA 3D Vision is "good" But it could be "phenomenal" if it had the right devs and the right management. I would make every game 3D-Ready or die in the process. I expect nothing less from the current lazy devs who are in charge of this debacle.

I can't leave my existing job because I signed a contract and made a commitment. But I could easily devote my "spare time" and improve nvidia 3d vision ten fold over the existing moronic devs who have control of this beautiful technology.

NVIDIA?. You.. freaking.. Fail...... Piece of crap morons. freak YOU.

Yes I'm passionate about stereoscopic 3d aren't I?

More like I wasn't going to relocate to San Fran. I have a very good job right now and I'm not going to leave it just to help a company with basic GUI/interface problems.

But I did offer to work for free, remotely. I offered to WORK FOR FREE and stay in touch with the community.

For example.

Richie72: "Can you guys help me with something?"

Jenson: "Anything, what is your problem? I'll solve it in a few days".

Think about it before you respond.

I LOVE this guy! Jenson... you rock. Seriously. I WISH Nvidia had the passion you do for 3D Vision. To all those knocking him, I believe Jenson sees what this tech is capable of and is frustrated that the devs *appear* to have little enthusiasm. My guess is that management views this as a niche product, and is just not giving them the resources to do it correctly. I fear the current gen of Nvidia S3d will suffer the same "bum stepchild" treatment the previous gen received.

Keep fighting the fight Jenson!

Hi

3D Vision is NOT a niche product at NVIDIA. Its an extremely valued product within NVIDIA and the entire company is passionate about it, going all the way up to our CEO.

I'm not sure if anyone of you have seen our CEO on a PBS interview he did last year, but he brought his 3D Vision glasses with him to show the host.

Andrew,

I appreciate your prompt reply. However, Nvidia can trumpet that they are committed to 3D Vision all they want. The proof to the contrary, at least to this point IMHO, is in the pudding.

I assume that some of the less than stellar 3D effects in game are not solvable via driver or profile fixes and that the game devs have to fix them. This, of course, creates the whole "chicken and the egg" problem of them not seeing enough S3D units out in the world to justify (at least in the minds of the game devs) fixing or programming for S3D.

However, *many* of the issues that Jenson has raised *are* within your power; the most obvious is opening up the 3D profile/drivers to the community. Unfortunately, I think that Nvidia is taking the route that might, in fact, doom this tech to the scrap heap of history: an almost paranoid obsession with a closed standard. Not only Nvidia is at fault here, but the whole S3D industry. The fact that $130 LCD glasses are NOT compatible between platforms is absolutely ridiculous. IMHO, if Nvidia REALLY wanted this tech to catch on, the would completely open up the drivers. As I'm sure your internal models show, the money in this field will not be Nvidia as an LCD glasses vendor, but as a 3D *platform* which will sell loads of videocards.

So, it is hard for me to believe that S3D is a central business strategy for Nvidia. If it were, the company would be pumping big resources into driver implementation and opening up the format thus giving Nvidia the edge in having the platform that implements S3D the best.

For self interest... I REALLY hope I'm wrong about this as I absolutely LOVE S3D gaming.

Charlie Rose interviews NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang

It's the job of the developers to bring a CEO's vision to life through software.

Two games I've played with NVIDIA 3D Vision

1. Mass Effect 2 - Good/fair both the same in my eyes
2. Dragon Age Origins - Good/fair not sure but both the same

These profile ratings are not bringing Jensen Huang's vision to fruition. These are major titles.

I am convinced that at the driver level you guys have UNLIMITED POWER and the only limitation is the will and dedication of your devs. Every game on gamespot with a 9/10 rating in the past three years should have an excellent rating with or without the help of the game developer. NO EXCUSE. There is always a way to achieve a goal in code. ALWAYS.
