BenQ W-1080ST 3DTV Play help
  1 / 3
BenQ W-1080ST is 3dtv play supported projector and some of the games I have work fine in 3D. But the games which do not have a setting to choose refresh rate do not work. Examles are Batman Arkham City and Just cause 2. You can set resolution in these games but there is no refresh rate setting. When I set the resolution to 1280x720p and run the game, the game launches at 1280x720 at 120Hz (max refresh rate available). Due to 120 Hz refresh rate 3dtv play does not work and displays an error saying that this is not a supported mode and asks to switch to 1280x120 at 60 Hz. Does anybody knows how to solve this issue?

I have the benq w1070 and this happens to me too sometimes. The way to make it work in most cases is to use a 3d desktop resolution that's the same than the game resolution and it should work. Remember, it has to be a 3d resolution, so check the nvidia panel resolution list and at the top you will see 3d resolutions (720p and 1080p native), and below that normal non 3d resolutions. 720p 3d can be a hit and miss sometimes, but 3d 1080p will work most of the time when you select that same resolution ingame.

But Batman Arkham City and Just cause 2 always run at 120 Hz breaking nvidia 3dtv play. Is there any command line option for these games which will force these games to run at 60 Hz? This projector can run at 120 Hz at 1280x720 so it has all the capabilities of a 3D vision ready projectors. It looks like they just did not pay nvidia for 3D vision certification. 3D vision is not so picky about resolutions.

@imarun I use Refreshlock for some games. It allows me to force games (i.e. Deadspace Series 1920x1080@24hz) to run at a chosen refresh rate, since some titles only support 60hz when at 1920x1080. I have 3DTV Play and with my set up, I have to have a refresh rate of 24hz when at 1920x1080. In your case, you can set the resolution and refresh rate you need before you launch the game. I cannot gurantee a fix for you, but it works perfect for me and I suspect this should do the trick. Go here to read about it (too many confusing download buttons which give crap download managers) http://www.softpedia.com/get/Tweak/Video-Tweak/RefreshLock.shtml But download it here http://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/refreshlock.html Hope this helps Cheers!

I also have a W1080ST, same problem. Anyone found a solution forcing games mentioned above to run 720p@60hz?

Might be worth a try to use Chiri's version: http://helixmod.blogspot.com/2013/02/chiris-force-certain-resolutionhertz.html That similar code is also in 3Dmigoto, with options to force a specific resolution and frequency using the NVAPI. No idea if it works, but if you try it I'd love to know. https://github.com/bo3b/3Dmigoto/releases

when I set game to 1280x720p, my screen becomes small, Nvidia OSD says 1280x720@120 not supported. But projector status says it's running at 1280x800. Then I tried Chiri's fix with Batman, and 3D Valley benchmark. It fixes the Valley demo! But it does nothing with Batman (no error/nothing) :/ I also tried 3Dmigoto Release.0.51-alpha. I'm not sure I did right, but I just removed the semicolons from the lines containing the values of resolution and refresh rate. But nothing changed. :(

That was the right way to try that. In the comments there it also says that 3D TV Play sometimes ignore refresh rate, so try also uncommenting the next line that is "filter_refresh_rate=24,59,60" Then if that doesn't work, try the next one of "full_screen=1" with both 0 and 1 as options for windowed and full screen. Not sure, just some experiments to see if you can find something. I don't have this setup so I can't try it myself. If you get the no-response, no change, look for an nvapi_log.txt. If it didn't get created, it's probably not running the tool. Not sure about 3Dmigoto, but I know that Chiri's original unlocker might be disabled in some games because of a change in the drivers. The nvapi.dll is ignored in more recent drivers. I have a weird prototype fix for that, but we are probably better of seeing if we can get 3Dmigoto to do this job. Roll back to 320.49, and the unlocker will load.

I tried uncommenting the above... filter_refresh_rate causes longer startup, plus all characters (Batman and thugs) are hidden. I can only see backgrounds and effects. And main problem persists; still cannot enable 3d at 720p.
