Nvidia needs to make 3D Vision 3 kit with head tracking!
I always thought it was really strange why Nvidia would go to the trouble of making a nice 3D kit, but not add in 2 little IR sensors on the sides of the 3D glasses and throw in a small camera on the emitter. I really doubt people would be turned off if the price was $20 more. Look at the Occulus Rift, it seems silly that Nvidia wouldn't just add this on and basically give near the same VR experience as OR. I don't really want to wear that bulky OR headpiece or buy TrackIR and have yet another set of peripherals...I'm freaking running out of USB ports for everything.

Cool idea, but wouldn't give anything close to the VR experience, and would just add expense and compatibility issues.

Eeh head tracking, and why do we need that when we are looking at a monitor! For that VR will come and as I said we are staring at a damn monitor this sounds awefull stupid mate!

It will help for looking at the screen at different angles actually. Maintaining the same 3D effect nomatter where you are sitting in the relation to the screen.

I don't know about 3D Vision glasses but with my DLP Link glasses turning my head generally causes crosstalk.

I didn't like trackIR when I tried it. it's unnatural to turn your head to look left/right but to still have to maintain eye contact with the monitor. I can see why it would work well with the Rift, where you keep your vision forward at all times, but with 3D vision, it's less than ideal.

3D glasses + head tracking isnt practical. Sony HMZ series + head tracking could work well. Supposedly the -T3 has headtracking though I am uncertain about how well. There is a good difference between headtracking and good headtracking. I dont think people realize how bad headtracking is in game when its not native and is tied to mouse movements.

Here's how a good head tracking implementation would look: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UPPCvVmx5Ho

Nvidia definitely should be doing SOMETHING to capitalise on the current VR hype. Though I didn't find the head tracking even in the Oculus Rift (devkit 1) particularly impressive, though that's perhaps largely due to it being wired and laggy/blurry. The only thing that really was impressive to me about the OR was the gigantic scale of the image. It really felt like being at IMAX. A large projector would probably come close to this experience, but I doubt it would get there all the way. Any solution that didn't achieve this sense of awesome scale would, for me at least, be robbing me of one of VR's greatest appeals.
