If I force it it claims to work as a 120 Hz display, but doesn't work with 3D Vision.
What do you mean by 'red box'?
[EDIT] Trying that Quadro driver now... should I be able to apply the EDID from the VGA input to the HDMI input, assuming that's the problem?
the red box says something like : "non stereoscopic display mode detected please switch to ..."
Are you sure the 120hz you set is not resampled inside the pj? It says something like 1280*720 93khz 120hz on the upper right corner once you switch it on?
Once people apply the resolution with overridden EDID .inf ( software, no HW uprade is necessary) it either works or some more tweaking is necessary but it should work just fine.

I had this same problem. I was doubtful that the EDID was screwed, but in the end I concluded that it was.
The solution was to reflash the projector (h5360) with the EDID. Luckily I managed to salvage this from the registry.
In-order to do this you will need to purchase "Powerstrip" and request a Pin code from Entech (their support team is very prompt and helpful).
If you have been misfortuned enough to have lost the EDID completely then I have posted it on the link below (you will need to change the file extension to .dat).
BTW. I have Windows 7 x64 and a GTX480 and it worked fine, as Entech will warn you that the GTX480 is not supported.

Does anyone have any idea how this happens and what could be done to prevent it? I had the same thing happen to me with the eMachines V700 (which is basically the same as the H5360).
Luckily, I had bought it just two weeks ago and Amazon sent me a new one right away.
Even if reflashing the EDID solves the problem, I don't know whether I'm comfortable doing so if it happens again, even if I did want to spend the money and buy PowerStrip. Surely you lose warranty coverage by flashing the EDID?
I just installed the newly released CD 1.29 and had high hopes this would fix my problem. Unfortunately it didn't. My Acer H5360 isn't detected anymore...still. I just can't believe the crappy quality of this projector I once adored!
After I removed my Nvidia display drivers as preparation for the installation of CD 1.29 the Acer displayed everything (resolution 640 x 480 if I remember right), not just the boot sequence. I could use it as I did before (resolution 640 x 480 of course).
Then I installed the new Nvidia display drivers (included with CD 1.29).....and the Acer was gone AGAIN (after succesful installation the set resolution changed from 640 x 480 to the native resolution of the Samsung 2233rz of course and that must have been the point when the Acer wasn't detected anymore!) Now it really seems this is a resolution based issue and it has definitly nothing to do with the length of the HDMI-cable or the simultaneous connection of my PS3 and the Xbox360 (remember, when the resolution was 640 x 480 the H5360 worked).
I am really in need of help right now and it seems the suggested EDID wipeout could really be the solution. The problem is, I have absolutely no idea how to get this problem fixed with Powerstrip. I downloaded Powerstrip and the needed Acer EDID which some kind person provided for download in another thread here. Although I don't have the slightest idea how to use Powerstrip it seems to me that the Acer H5360 must be detected at least so I can "tell" powerstrip to update the EDID. Right now when I start Powerstrip it just detects my Samsung 2233RZ and not the Acer. So I don't know how to update the Acer EDID because the Acer isn't even detected.
Does anyone here have an idea how to fix this problem? Help would be much appreciated........
What confuses me even more is the fact that my XBox360 STILL runs like a dream with the Acer. I could even choose the 1080p option via the XBox setup (yes I know that the Acer H5360 is just a 720p PJ). The only thing that was conspicuous is the fact that I had to reset the display resolution for the XBox 360 manually after my Acer H5360 freaked out. Before I reset it, the resolution which the Acer displayed for the Xbox automatically was something like 640 x 480.......
Lohan... this is what you need to do... Get your computer to a state where your projector works within windows (even if it is 640x480). You may also want to try the Acer_H5360.inf (I've included this below but you'll need to change the file extension to .inf). Also, make sure that your projector is your only connected device (as you don't want to accidently flash another monitor). Install Powerstrip and register it (by purchase). Then contact Entech and request a seperate PIN to enable the update EDID function of the software... you will need to provide them with a copy of your ini file for Powerstrip. Inorder to obtain this go here: PowerStrip menu > Options > Preferences and double-click on the "Compatibility" label/bar. This will create a shortcut to your pstrip.ini file on your desktop. Close PowerStrip before submitting the ini file. When you have your PIN and your projector is the only connected device go to: PowerStrip menu > Options > Monitor Information > Options > Update EDID. Select the projector.dat file that I have uploaded (you will need to change the file extension from .txt). That's it!!!! PS. Don't blame me if it goes wrong!!

I have the same problem as everyone else. I bought new HDMI cables thinking it was that, tried it on 4 different computers with a GT 520, GTX 480, GTX 670 sli and Quadro K4000 and updated the EDID. It will work in safe-mode and when booting, but the second it goes into Windows 7 it stops working. I had to update the EDID for the 3D to work properly a long time ago so I know updating the EDID will do nothing.
I had it working for a short while by rolling my nvidia drivers back by 12 months. I was away for 3 months, came home and turned it on. It worked until I restarted my computer and then it stopped working again. I've tried to roll back the drivers and it does nothing. It works completely fine through HDMI when the computer is in safe-mode, but the second I switch to normal it stops working when it reaches the login screen. I plugged it into my PS4 last night, and it works no problem.
