What makes a display/projector 3D Vision Ready? 3D Vision Ready
The system requirements for 3D Vision are listed at the following site: http://www.nvidia.com/object/3d-vision-pro-requirements.html

I'm looking at purchasing a new 3D HDTV and need to know why the short list exists at the above link? I have computers with Quadro 5000 and Quadro FX 3800 I can use. Specifically, if I purchase a 3D HDTV not on the list (due to my work's vendor constraints) what happens? Does it simply not work at all? I need clarification from anyone since I cannot get an answer from Support.

Thanks

When a display is called "Nvidia 3D Vision Ready" it means it has passed through Nvidia's QA team and been white-listed by the drivers. Devices not white-listed will probably not work (at least not without doing some sort of hacks). In general, if you want to use a 3D HDTV you will need to use the "Nvidia 3DTV Play" software. You can see requirements here: http://www.nvidia.com/object/3dtv-play-system-requirements.html . Looks like its for consumer cards only though (ie Geforce).

If the 3D HDTV is HDMI 1.4 and not on the list, you can probably get it added by following the instructions at http://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/2774

Using a 3D HDTV for 3D applications on a Quadro GPU will probably not work due to Nvidia's tight control over their Pro-Vision market.
