Hello everyone, I just recently got the infamous problem with windows not recognizing the acer h5360. I get generic display in windows and nvidia control panel sees it correctly however I cannot set the correct resolution. It thinks the native is 1024x768. I also cannot get the 3d to work. I have seen the multiple threads about how to fix it but I need more instruction. I read to go here but I don't understand how to do it. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks for reading.

The picture at the 3dizzy site points to a file. You want to download that by clicking on the picture with a !right click!, and press "save as" . Then,
Should go like this:
Go onto your desktop, right click,
Screen resolution -> advanced settings ->
monitor ->
properties -> driver -> update driver -> browse -> 'lemme pick' -> have disk -> find the file you downloaded -> yeah not signed but what the hell.
Put your projector into a drawer already? I figure that's one of the best things you can do with a retroreflective screen like high power! /teehee.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':teehee:' />

How do I download the "driver"? I mean I go to the site and I click on the projector icon and it takes me to alot of text that I don't know what to do with. Also what do you mean by put the PJ in a drawer?

THANK YOU!!!!!! That tiny little tidbit about clicking save as was the one thing that I didn't know about. I did it then tried the 3d it didn't work so I restarted and it works marvelously! Thank you very much I knew I could count on your expertise and kindness for what was paining me today. Especially since I got this problem one day shy of owning it for 2 weeks(so I guess today lol). As for the hush box I may end up doing that in the future but for now drowning it out with the gunfire and explosions of Bad Company 2 will do :D

I t ried restarting my computer and that did nothing for me. it says the driver is working correctly and it shows the correct things under nvidia control panel

Have you tried using a different cable? vga to dvi or hdmi to dvi? Make sure the plugs are in very straight they can have a bit of a dead zone on them.

because i have had problems in the past where it stops working and after playing around with it for a while i would get it working again. I figured if i installed this update i would never have this problem again. I was wrong because as soon as i installed this everything went to hell.
if i put the resolution to 800x600 then i get a picture but its all distorted. with the edid off do i have to do anything special. change another setting to make it work.
sorry for highjacking this thread
ive also tried rerolling the drivers back and it still didnt work

1. Updating the nvidia drivers does cause my H5360 projector's EDID to become corrupt 1/8 times. Has also happened with the Windows Update features.
2. Sometimes (strangely enough) changing to another HDMI->DVI adapter fixes the problem, or switching to another DVI port on the graphics card.
3. Using the .inf file to trick windows into seeing the H5360 doesn't work for me, so I ended up having to purchase Powerstrip and got my EDID update unlock code. I've an old computer lying around with a 7800 GT which is compatible with the update feature and I use that to fix/overwrite the EDID actually inside the projector. If you want to try this route, then browse the other H5360 threads for people offering a ".dat" file NOT a ".inf" file.

Basically (from my understanding) inside the projector is a small file (the EDID .dat file) that tells the computer what resolutions it can support, what the name of the projector is, etc. Some people can get around a partially corrupted EDID (which generally manifests itself just with listing the projector as a "generic display device" but leaves the core functionality intact) by just using the .inf file which will trick the nvidia software into seeing a H5360 3d-vision compatible projector. However others can experience a more heavily corrupted EDID file which can screw up what the projector lists as its native resolution and other supported features. The only way to fix this problem is to either send back the projector to Acer (I did that, they told me it was being repaired for 3 months, then admitted they never received it and finally replaced it /thumbsdown.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> )......or you can purchase the Powerstrip software utility which will allow you to overwrite or attempt to repair the EDID file via the HDMI cable. Warning: the software's EDID update function will not work with some setups. For example: my Win7 X64 system with a 480 GTX will not work, however my old Vista 32-bit on a 7800 GT will work with it.
I guess with this type of procedure theres a risk of wrecking the EDID even further, but I've done this about 20 times to fix my projector (sometimes the it takes multiple update attempts to successfully write the new EDID) and nothings gone wrong.

because i have had problems in the past where it stops working and after playing around with it for a while i would get it working again.

Now i hope the world doesnt end anytime soon. I wanna play with my toys for a bit more.
because i have had problems in the past where it stops working and after playing around with it for a while i would get it working again.

I really don't know sir, I wish I could help you on this one but I'm kind of a newb myself.

The only way to fix this problem is to either send back the projector to Acer (I did that, they told me it was being repaired for 3 months, then admitted they never received it and finally replaced it
I guess with this type of procedure theres a risk of wrecking the EDID even further, but I've done this about 20 times to fix my projector (sometimes the it takes multiple update attempts to successfully write the new EDID) and nothings gone wrong.
