Hi,
I have a few questions about the new GeForce 3D Vision glasses and would be grateful if anyone from nVidia (or someone who has bought the glasses) could answer them:
1. In the past I've used the e-dimensional glasses with nVidia 3d drivers and an 85hz DLP projector with very satisfactory results (flickering on an 85Hz DLP projector is far less noticeable than on a 100Hz CRT). Will I be able to use such a projector with the new glasses? I realise the spec says a minimum refresh rate of 100Hz is required for CRT monitors but is this actually hardwired so the glasses won't run at any slower refresh rate or is it just a recommendation? (I noticed, for example, on p32 of the Geforce 3d Vision User Guide pdf that there's a screenshot of the stereo test application which appears to offer 60Hz and 75Hz as options).
2. Presumably if I want to buy 2 sets of glasses (for multiplayer gaming on a single PC) I won't need a second transmitter, or a second set of all the leads. Will it be possible to buy just the glasses by themselves, and if so how much will they be?
3. The "Are you Geforce 3d Vision Ready?" tool said my Geforce 8800GT XXX edition (512MB) didn't meet the requirements (despite it being faster than a standard 8800GT). Is this just a bug with the tool or is there some reason why this particular card isn't compatible?
