Simple thing to increase your perceived display size
I'm stuck using a 17" laptop and tried using some glasses to make the screen "bigger" and also try and help with some short-sightedness. It pretty interesting the effect and i wish i had tried it on my "small" 27" VG278h when i had it, which i found to be too small for my taste, perhaps because i had been using a 46" 3DTV before trying it.
Anyway, i liked the effect so much that i thought i would pass it along for anyone who might not have thought of it. One other benefit of it is that the glasses will put your focus at infinity, or thats what i read....maybe not. But thats the idea. So using 1.25 glasses with my vision, i can pull the screen quite close and don't feel any eye strain and the monitor's FOV in my vision is substantially larger.

If you find yourself without the laptop and stuck with a smart phone, you can do this

BTW, there are posters on the forums that have used Fresnel lenses with 3D and you can get them from old TVs that people often throw out. There are two types, check youtube.

Thanks, I experimented with freznel lenses a long time ago with my 19" CTR and Falcon 4.0. It was pretty cool but i was using a cheap plastic magnifyer lens bought at an office store. Turned my 19" monitor into an IMAX screen, which was awesome, but the freznel lens lines were to apparent and it seemed to reduce the contrast and vibrancy of the image too, perhaps the plastic scattered the light, not sure. Definitely something to explore for those with smaller displays, but for me, i can wait to get my 46" 3DTV out of storage. I might even try it with the glasses, but i think it sits too far away actually.
I keep wondering about red/blue 3D, i haven't tried it in ages and im wondering why its not used more.

This guy used to use them on his stereoscopic surround CRTs. (this was prior to 3D Vision being launched in 2009)
Later he switched to 2D gaming, but better Freznel lenses along with a higher resolution display gave him a much better result.
[quote="slipstream"]Before I start let me assure you this system is not the Ebay 'make a 100 inch display with a monitor' crap that does not work. This system does not reflect any image.
Lads, I used 3D strereo for a while but as you all know nightmare driver issues, expensive glasses etc. I moved to the Fresnel lens and it makes a huge difference as well as producing a 3D feel to the image. I am providing a link to the company that supplied mine but let me tell you now before I start getting accused. I have nothing at all to do with this company in any way shape or form. I found this company in a review in PC Pilot magazine and it got a good review at that. This makes such a huge difference to gaming it is unreal.
The fact that these lenses doubles the image size was a problem in the past as without AA the zig zaggy images stood out but with systems now you do not get this problem. Let me know your thoughts and I will answer any questions, query's.
