What is wrong with Nvidia these days?

Why is it taking Nvidia so long to fix bugs that have been draggin on for months?

I refering to the infamous flickering of the 3d glasses and the eventual shutdown of the glasses. This problem as been around for months, yet I don't see any nvidia technicians addressing this issue whatsoever. For those that are suffering from it, it's a complete nightmare and totally renders 3d vision useless.

Then theres the SLI problems, the WOW issue that still around, come on guys, how hard can it be to fix a sodding UI glitch?

I had plenty of sympathy for Nvidia at the start but not anymore. Us gamers are a demanding breed, but I don't think it's frickin unreasonable to have bugs that have been around since man fixed.

I really want to but into the GTX480 cards but how furious would you be if the same problems exsist?

Rant over!

It is very frustrating, im happy to accept to having to play the waiting game, i know 3dvision isn't yet a mass market product, so thus staff and resource time is of a premium, but ( theirs always a but) i agree some bugs have simply been around to long, those 3d vision users with prelonged bug issues have every right to air their frustrations.

At this point I grab every peice of wood I can find, when I say for me personaly, 3dVision has been a painless, enjoyable experience, luckily im not a WOW user, nor projecter, and have simple been able to enjoy the 3d evolution painlessly

I have had a pretty good go of things myself. I went for the bundle (2233+glasses) plus i upgraded to a 250 from my launch 640mb 8800 gts and have not had any real problems with hardware issues (overheating gc card-may be a driver issue). NOW with that said I have still bitched at nv for poor tech quality for others who have bought nv glasses/cards/mobo/sli or problems with cards/sli/flickering/ghosting/dlp/projector/cords/overheating/crashes/no quad/poor fps/broken drivers/poor communication/ignoring customers/months with no responcesno profiles/broken profiles/ because if i dont stand up with my fellow 3ders who will be there to weild the torch when i need help...right

I may have missed something in there but just fill in the blank urself

This has always been a problem! Nothing new and still very frustrating. I don't trust them at all.

Unfortunately I think too many companies don't focus on the little things or the "little" people. They have their own priorities and agendas which are usually, dare I say, stupid. Not that I am completely referring to NVidia, but I'm sure they've been working hard on the fermi cards and not focusing too much of their attention on their current customers. All in all, I think the new fermi cards are underwhelming and overpriced. I don't have any real problems with the drivers, though, but I've read enough complaints to give me a headache. I do remember the bug in the drivers that caused hitching in Champions Online which took them forever to fix and ended up causing me to cancel my subscription.

In the 3D world at this time Nvidia not supporting ATI graphics is no loss as it does not offer better performance or quality than ATI+iZ3D/DDD. The only loss is to Nvidia 3D Vision customers who are deliberately denied the freedom to choose their graphic card and 3D drivers of choice.

Similarly, those that like physx are denied an option to use their existing Nvidia card for physx if they upgrade to ATI. These examples clearly illustrate that nvidia purposely hurts its existing customers (3D Vision and nvidia graphics owners who want physx with an ATI upgrade) and itself by lost 3D Vision and graphics card sales for alternative combinations. Combined with the constant supply of long running misinformation by Nvidia's representative on this forum (Quad support, Samsung support, etc) and Nvidia's marketing (Bioshock 2, etc) clearly demonstrate that Nvidia, its management and frontline staff lack reasonable integrity in dealing with their existing consumers and broader industry.

These aspects of Nvidia's recent conduct undoubtedly hurt existing Nvidia customers more than ATI but may also hurt ATI to some extent (might drive some to ATI as well) by lost sales due to the increased financial loss incurred by existing Nvidia 3D / graphics customers if changing graphics/3D vendors. New (free) customers are less affected and have a more open environment to choose vendors and reason to go non-Nvidia.

One wonders what the retail versions of FERMI will really be like considering all current public information is based on cherry-picked Nvidia supplied samples and their recent history of < poor ethics and conduct. Jensen said at launch of ATI 5000 series that retailed 1 week after launch he would NEVER do a soft / paper launch, now he is doing exactely that with Fermi scheduled for another 2 weeks and likely to be very poorly supplied not just over demanded (more problems with the actual product!). I hope Nvidia is not again just misinforming the public (as above, launch dates / specifications) and despicably attempting to control consumers by < reputable measures.

If you can not win fairly deceive your loyal customers and hamstring your opponent, Nvidia the way it should not be played.

How can I or others possibly recommened Nvidia products when us consumers are treated like this?

I know that this forum is a user to user converse platform, but If it was my company, I would expect at least one techie to browse these forums and take note of the issues my customers are facing. I mean come on, is it really out of the question to have an Nvidia employee browse through these forums and at least update us on whats happening? The fact that theres no mention whatsoever on Nvidia addressing our issues give me absolutly no confidence to buy future products.

I have been with Nvidia since the original geforce and I'm finding it very difficult to continue to support them, when they don't support us. Yes 3D is a new platform, yes it's going to take time, and yes when it works it works incredibly well, but unfortunately the constant flickering renders 3D usless.

I know that if I upgrade to a GTX480 I'm convinced the flicking will cease. But I've just forked out £400 for a 295 and now I'm suppose to pay another £400 for a 480 just to stop a damn flickering bug?

In the real world, if a customer purchases a product from me that was faulty, I would move heaven and earth to resolve the issue, you know why? because I want the customer to come back to me! If I don't look after said customer, they will just deal with the competition. So why isn't this basic concept followed upon by manufacturers? This isn't just Nvidia, the majority of manufacturers out there just want to move onto the next product and forget about previous versions.

I'm not usually one for complaining, but these issues have dragged on for far too long. Believe me, if Nvidia user base just jumped ship, these issues would be resolved in a heartbeat. We've gotta stop bending over for these people.

Because it's almost a monopoly. Nvidia owns the driver and the only other graphics card maker didn't offer a similar solution. Things are changing and oh boy history will be rewritten because the market will sort them out with no mercy. No doubt there will be a significant migration once a better solution become available.

I have been using 3DVision forabout 3 months and I have never experienced any flickering or flashing unless evga precision utility was running in the background.
I have been a PC gamer sinced the early days of the first microsoft flight simulator (on monochrome crts) and DoomI before graphics accelerators.

I can honestly say that 3DVision is the most exciting development in computer gaming in a generation and I think Nvidia's implementation of stereoscopy is very very good.

One area that is somewhat lacking is prompt driver/profile support for newest games. That we often have to wait seems unfair, since we are the high end purchasers/users. But the wait is generally worth it: Bioshock2 for example is a sublime experience in 3DVision.
We must realize that to get games working stereoscopically NVidia must often work closley (read pay) developers. So far the results (BatmanAA, Tomb Raider, CODMW2, AssassinsCreedI and II, Metro2033, BattllefieldBC2 and others have been AMAZING.

Baragon, Your right. When this works it's absolutly incredible. Best thing to happen since games became 3d hardware accelerated and left the 2d mario type worlds.

However, I have Batman AA, Dragon Age, BFBC2, Metro, AVP3, Fallout 3, Bioshock 2 + many more on my shelves collecting dust, because the sodding flickering is producing migrains and eventually switches off anyway. Once you've played these in 3D theres no going back. So now they are collecting dust because I don't want to go back to flat 2D, I've been spoiled :)
I'm not on my own with this problem, many many people are suffering exactly the same issues.

I'd be happy for Nvidia to take their time getting profiles out as, as you've seen above, I've plenty of games to be getting on with, but just can't in this current state.
If Nvidia would just resolve this flickering issue I'd be back on the AWESOME bandwagon!! For now, it's just an expensive toy sat in cryostasis.........

Hi all,

Just a point of interest that might help -

I never had the dreaded flicker issue at all for a few months, and then it showed up on me and was infuriating. Turns out it was because I installed Rivatuner that day - once I shut it down, it never showed up again.

Someone else mentioned having a similar product installed previously in the thread, so perhaps any process that hooks the drivers cause syncing issues for some reason. Try disabling any such voodoo, and see if that helps :)

Cheers,

It appears that any software/ plugin that measures performance of the Video card/ heat/fan speed or even GPU load introduced a lg into the system and thus introduced Flicker.

when I upgraded to Windows 7 i did the basic steps however I was experiencing flicer. I had installed a Nvidia Plugin which measured my GPU temp, and load along with a few other things. I disabled it and the flickering went away.

No problems here,..people with flickering problems, have to check there hardware and or software....
Some programs/hardware just don't work very well with each other....
Don't always blame Nvidia,they can't help everybody....
Some things you have to figure out yourself...

Hi All

My apologies if any of you have flicker issues and you feel like we are ignoring you.

If anyone of you are interested in coming to Santa Clara to do an onsite debug with our engineers, I am happy to set that up, just let me know.

Monitoring component of evga precision is based on rivatuner. You can use precision to set clocks but you must turn it off during 3D play.
?Are other hadware monitoring processes active?
People with flicker/flashing please post full specs so we can try to diagnose problem. Please include your operating system and utilities used.

Flicker/flashing suggests some process introducing latency perhaps through USB , or infrared or other optical interference.

Thanks to andrew for offer to help with problem. The best thing we could do is gather all information for affected systems.
