Decline of 3D Vision - Thought you all should know - Dark Times Ahead :(
3 / 14
Thanks to all the people in the community who've helped 3dvision last this long. Incredible amount of work.
To Nvidia - it's stupifying that community members have shown more commitment to your own product than you have. Not only that, rather than showing any appreciation to these people you've actively hindered their efforts to the point where you're driving them away. Good effort.
I've been locked into buying high end Nvidia cards for a while now just because of 3Dvision, that'll certainly be ending now unless there is some drastic changes.

This is really, really sad.
I'm visiting this forum since many years almost on a daily basis, but haven't posted for a very long time. But this post made me do it. Whenever a new 3D Patch comes out on the Helix Blog, I try it out. I also invested in new Nvidia Hardware just because of this community because I believe that 3D Vision makes a huge difference in gaming. I don't care about new advertised features like HBOA+ or TXAA, where I can hardly see any difference. 3D Vision is the real difference. Whenever a new game comes out and it does not work well in 3D, I will not buy it and my steam library is huge ;-) and Tridef did not work neither with my old Acer H5360 projector nor new Acer VG27H.
So I want to say a big, big thank you to mike and eqzitara, for the many, many fixes over the time.
I can really understand their decision, because its hard to spend your free time for the community for free and with no support from Nvidia at all. I always thought that maybe Nvidia would sponsor the whole Helix-Mod community at some point, but this definitely seems not to happen.
So I would also be willing to donate some money, if this would change your minds. I missed the opportunity the last time on the Helix Blog.
But I also hope that bob3D is right, and that the 3D Vision community might still survive. The tools are there, and as properly all the future games will be DX11, the 3dmigoto DX11 wrapper is definitely the right direction. It blew me away when I discovered the AC4 patch even before it was mentioned here, and what a huge difference it makes between real 3D and this fake 3D Nvidia introduced recently. So previously I was thinking 3D Vision is dead because of DX11, because beside Helix BI Patch, and the not successfull 3D migoto campaign at that time, there was no 3D DX11 Patch available at all.
But this seems hopefully not to be the case. And I also hope that we will see beside AC3,4 and SR3,4 many more DX11 patches in the future. Maybe if I find the time, I will also look into the shaderfixes at some point.
Anyway, again, I want to say thank you for all the hard work. You really gave me a good time and made so many games shine in true 3D glory, the way it ment to be played :-)
But also a big thank you to all the other people (Helix, bob3d, ...), who often build the infrastructure, for making such fixes even possible.
And yes, in the end I really want to blame Nvidia, as well, to not support 3D Vision anymore since years. I think, now with the Oculus Rift hype, they have the chance to talk to the developers and make their games engines "3D Vision Ready" as well, like Oculus tries now with Unity, UDK, CryEngine...because esepcially the hardcore gamers, spend a lot of money in high end hardware, and I believe this is a big part of the 3D Vision community.
But instead no "3D Vision Ready" titles ahead
So long.

So, very sad to hear that news too
Thank you guys (Helix,Eqzitara,Mike,DHR, Bob and others) for supporting 3D vision gaming since the launch of the Helix's wrapper.
NVIDIA don't care of you but we, "the 3D gaming community", were always here to support you.
In fact NVIDIA don't care of "us", more preocupated in launching of shield "shitty things".
It's a very very bad news for tne community.
Hope to see all of us in another place (occulus community may be).
Only time will say.
To all : A Big THANKS.

Though I departed from being active ages ago, it's still a great shame to see this news today.
I still believe the technology is second to none, and can easily hold its own against existing and upcoming technology.
Such a shame Nvidia never really took it to the next stage, lack of investment, media and I guess the rise of dx10 & dx11 all contributed to the problems.
What really hurts is that they made such a great 3D device, and then after that, which I presume was the hardest part, getting the thing built, they just left it to rot apart from the occasional half hearted fix.
and then on to the community, how so many pulled together to try and keep 3D gaming alive, the amount of time and effort and in some cases the cost involved was simply amazing.
3D isn't dead, nvidia 3d vision isn't dead, we still have the fixes that are already made, and still have access to a wealth of old drivers to help ensure the fixes continue to work.
Thankyou community, and as for nvidia - im afraid at the end of the day "Thanks for nothing"
Lets hope bo3b continues to spearhead future fixing projects.

A quick note to say, than the www.3dsolutiongaming.com website will be staying live. I have a reliable, affordable host and have no plans to take it down.
I know the site lacks the videos from the past, this simply turned out to expensive to maintain and no recent updates have been or will be applied but the site can still be a useful resource for 3D gamers and the monthly viewing figures are still very good.

Bad thing for us. The big interest about Nvidia is (was?) his 3D system. The lack of support from NV described in the first post is shameful.
Thanks to the Helix Mod team for their work all these years.

A Heartfelt Thanks goes out to all of the modders and supporters.
Tis indeed sad that Nvidia does not seem to be actively promoting the inclusion of Stereoscopic Features in new releases with Developers.
DAMMIT !!! i just bought 2 GTX 770 ONLY because i am a 3D Vision fan !!!! i paid 150$ more than a couple of equally fast red side cards. My monitor and kit will be useless in a couple of months!!! Thanks for all Helix team, and thanks for nothing Nvidia. One more point for the red side ( the other one is much better GPGPU performance). i hate you nvidia !!! never should came from the red side in the first place.

Well....is really a bad news. The point of a community is more people get involve, not the opposite.
I'm still fixing (trying at least) the games i want to play (i don't play 2D anymore and don't give a shit nvidia/developers that don't care this tech). I'm not have much free time (i have 2 kids and have others hobbies as well - mountain biking for example-), so if a fix involve too much time i will look Tridef solution (is my modus operandi).
3Dmigoto is a success!! (thanks to Bob, Chiri and mike), so is a pitty that mike get away...i'm not a programmer so i need to look the logic in a few fixed games to understand how to do it....i'm still learning 3Dmigoto.
Also i'm sure when OR came out...nvidia will kick in again with this tech.....there are cycles in live. Not all is black or white.
Cheers

Unfortunate but expected and understandable. The many people who have been providing 3D fixes are understandably frustrated by being continually blown off and feeling ignored.
I also see why Nvidia isn't working to support 3D vision more, but I think there are so many things they could have done differently to help make it fully successful.
Thank you to everyone in the 3D vision community, and those who have been making fixes for us all to enjoy. You've made a lot of my game experiences significantly better.
I almost traded my 3D monitor 2 weeks ago but couldn't do it because I didn't want to lose access to 3D vision. I don't know, now it just seems like a less valuable product. The quality of the tech is amazing, but the support isn't. I've been looking at the GTX8xx series for my next purchase because of 3D vision, but now the R9 cards look a lot more attractive from a price/performance standpoint. That's a bummer.

Couple of points:
1.) Massive thank you to all who've contributed to these patches over the years. You guys are rockstars and I salute you.
2.) I hope you leave the Helix mod site up as easily accessible links for the old patches. I'm sure you will.
3.) To Nvidia: my last three video card purchases were explicitly Nvidia cards for the sole reason of 3D Vision. So, yeah. I will no longer be prisoner to your brand in the future.
4.) I'm actually kind of glad Eqzitara is moving on to the Oculus Rift. Clearly Nvidia has lost the plot. It's one thing to not want to hire any of these talented modders to do it full-time, but it's another thing to actively work against the one thing keeping your "initiative" alive. So I'm glad he's moving onto a platform where his actions will be more appreciated.

Nooooooooooo :'( man. 3D Vision is the only reason I use Nvidia. Not sure what can be done. I wouldnt mind contributing and donating money to the Helimod team. Please reconsider.
Thank you for all the wonderful fixes and the support you gave after each one.
I hope the site is not taken down.
