3D Vision Surround 2way sli no performance increase with 900 series...
1 / 2
The Issue I am experiencing is that 3D Surround 2 Way SLi shows no performance increase over 1 card. While both cards with show 99%-100% useage on the core, the 2nd card is not doing ANYTHING other than making heat and wasting energy.
I have tested with 347.90,337.88,345.20,347.52,347.25, and 344.11. The issue persists through all driver versions. I have ran 3 in game benchmarks with fraps running and all measurements were done with not only my system, but wife's system as well.

This was 13hours of testing last night into 6am this morning. I spoken to a Nvidia Rep on the phone earlier an email him all this same info. Hopefully they contact me back soon. If you compare 3D 2 Way SLi to 3D Single card, you can see the only performance increase is while using one card vs 2? Even the Nvidia rep told me something isn't right obviously.
EDIT* Added other benchmark results to list.

Have you used DDU to completely remove the old drivers? There's a decent chance that'll help.

Yes. Would you like anymore info, do you have said setup an do not experience this or?
I'm wondering if this isn't some sort of a problem with 9xx class GPUs and the drivers. For several of those you are getting negative scaling.
For most of those games, I get decent scaling and clearly improved performance with SLI 760, using all those drivers you've used.
I have also seen reports of people not getting any scaling, mostly people with 9xx GPUs.
I have also seen results from Helifax who uses a Surround setup, and he gets good scaling with 780tis.
Do you have access to any older GPUs that might serve as a test case?
What happens if you disable surround and do single screen- any scaling?
I have also seen reports of people not getting any scaling, mostly people with 9xx GPUs.
2x SLI 970, single screen, Windows 8, driver 347.88. I just tested Tomb Raider and went from an average of 36 to 58 by enabling SLI. I was testing Shadow of Mordor yesterday, and I believe the difference was from 46 to 65. So it's definitely not a problem for all 9xx users.
Could be a Windows 8.1 thing though, we've seen lots of people having trouble with it.

I have not tested with only 1 monitor to see if it scales. I'll try that an add the results.
I spoke to Nvidia on Saturday and today. They took all my results an said they were escalating to Tier 2 level for testing.

Sorry it took some long to reply. Tested Tomb Raider and Batman AO in 3D Vision 2Way SLi and it did scale with SLi on a single screen. So it is something with Surround 3D Vision that is breaking SLi. I will post my scores later tonight so long as I have time. But the minimum frames I saw in Tomb Raider was 246 with 3D Vision on one screen. So from that alone you can see that SLi does work, just not with Surround 3D.

The bad news is that you only options at the moment are to reinstall win 8 or win 7, or wait for it to be fixed in the drivers...
I had exactly this problem... https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/810058/3d-gimps-performance-in-surround/#4467060
Here's a link to a win 8 iso, you could try you win 8.1 key with it and see if it works.

I am having a similar issue I noticed in a separate thread. Many other people seem to be having it as well.
Basically 3d vision in SLI is not using my second card. Using 2 Evga 980 SC with win 7 64 bit. Display is the new Asus Rog Swift PG278Q. Single monitor setup. One graphics card heats up the other sits at idle temperatures. FPS is virtually identical to one card setup.
When I connect to an older 3d vision monitor the Asus Vg27h, 3d vision works normally with sli scaling using both cards. So there is some nvidia driver issue related to sli and also these new monitors.
Tested with several benchmarks and games with same results with evga precision showing osd.. Please mention if you have this setup and you can confirm with evga precision screencaps yours is working.

Hi Sparky,
Sorry for the delay, while development did provide an update I had follow up questions that I'm still awaiting a response. According to developer assigned to this issue, SLI scaling will be limited until we can properly optimize and tune for newer OS like Windows 8 and onward. I'm not a developer so I don't have much details other than we are aware of the problem and would need to implement a solution in order to improve the SLI scaling in stereo surround mode. From what I can understand developer seems to suggest this may be OS specific, so I have follow-up questions to clarify and also get an update on when we are targeting to get this resolved. While I probably won't be able to get any specific dates I'm hoping they can tell me which driver branch this is being targeted. But as far as I can tell this isn't a simple fix, so this could take more time. Will update again once I hear back.
Best regards,
Ray

Very weird... I am using 2x780Tis in 3D Surround (3xSamsung 2233rz monitors...oldies but goldies... it seems) and I get double-ish the framerate with SLI enabled (depends on the game)...
If it happens on the 900 series cards... I wonder if this doesn't somehow have something to do with the 3d vision drivers acting weird from the 900 series product launch and onwards... (like stereo Automatic disabling, etc)... I might be paranoid...but what if not...

The One exception I found was Mafia II. 3D Surround 2Way SLi did scale for more performance as expected. This in game benchmark only shows Avg fps so i will enter that.

Yes. Would you like anymore info, do you have said setup an do not experience this or?
For most of those games, I get decent scaling and clearly improved performance with SLI 760, using all those drivers you've used.
I have also seen reports of people not getting any scaling, mostly people with 9xx GPUs.
I have also seen results from Helifax who uses a Surround setup, and he gets good scaling with 780tis.
Do you have access to any older GPUs that might serve as a test case?
What happens if you disable surround and do single screen- any scaling?

Could be a Windows 8.1 thing though, we've seen lots of people having trouble with it.
I wish I had that option, but my Windows Disc is for 8.1 :(
I have not tested with only 1 monitor to see if it scales.
I had exactly this problem... https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/810058/3d-gimps-performance-in-surround/#4467060
Here's a link to a win 8 iso, you could try you win 8.1 key with it and see if it works.

Best regards,
Ray
If it happens on the 900 series cards... I wonder if this doesn't somehow have something to do with the 3d vision drivers acting weird from the 900 series product launch and onwards... (like stereo Automatic disabling, etc)... I might be paranoid...but what if not...
