Anyone here have any experience with Final Fantasy series? I've never played one and I am interested in Final Fantasy XIII-2 which I understand is much less linear than than the first XIII. I see there is a fix on the helix blog and was curious as to whether these games are any good and what the 3D experience is like. I'd appreciate anyone's opinion since they are currently on sale through steam. If there is an older Final Fantasy that you think is better, I would be open to that as well...

I have only played the first FF XIII, and I think it was a nice game..
True it's rather linear, but I can mention a lot of great titles from the past, that was linear.
Story is good - Graphics are great in 3D, all though it's only 720P in the first game.
Only serious drawback - there's a lot of beautifull cutscenes - but in 2D :/
I also own the second and third game, but I haven't got the time to play them yet (that backlog is killing me :)
(the third one has more 3D cutscenes and a partial - but OK fix from 3d4dd here.

Final Fantasy XIII, and Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII are all tied together. (the first game is 60Gb, second 30Gb, third 22GB)
Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII just released a few weeks ago for the PC, 3d4dd released a wip for it, he also has patches for the first two.

Also there were some remakes that were released on Steam discussed in the following thread. https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/831750/?comment=4606116
Sreenshots of one or two of the older games that looked good in 3D are buried somewhere in the forums. But I can't remember who posted them, it was within the last two years.
Edit: found the photos, but they are for Final Fantasy XI, which is an online game with a monthly subscription. Here's a link to the thread

Thanks guys for the input. I'll continue to deliberate over this series. I am in the same boat as
Blacksmith56 with such a game back log....too many games and so little time....lol
Happy New Year!
