I agree with Arioch there is a terrible bug in there somewhere with outdoors as well. When I play the Witcher outside scenes, the FPS is around 40 after playing for 10 minutes in the open area it drops to about 18-25?? If I save and restart the FPS at the same spot the FPS returns to 40 odd again.

Is anyone else experiencing that????
I didn't notice that, but if true, it smells like a memory leak. Perhaps there is a general memory leak related to lighting in 3D.

Both indoor and outdoor performance is impacted for me. Upwards of an 80% to 90% reduction in frame rate with 3D vision enabled. Nowhere in the game can I get only a 50% reduction - which is what I would expect from using 3D vision. Sounds like everyone may be getting slightly different results. It does seem more pronounced indoors though. The prologue is particularly bad where the guards are playing dice in front of Garret. 10 fps slide show with 3D vision enabled 75 without. That's a lot more than a 50% reduction. It is also frustrating that changing the game settings does nothing to help in 2D or 3D. low spec, high spec, resolution ... nothing really changes the performance.

Maybe its dependent on the specific setup (SLI, card model etc). I am a single card user - an MSI GTX 570 OC.

- OR -

Maybe we're not all comparing things equally and we are all getting the same results. Hard to say.

I definitely "disagree" that this is an indoor only issue.

Typical Nvidia, Andrew comes out saying how great the 3d will be, but on release it runs like a pig. Now he is nowhere to be found, kind of like a dog that craps on the carpet then hides because he knows he was wrong.

Let's hope this mess doesn't take the same road of the good 'ol quad SLi support for 3D Vision.

Of course rendering in stereo will be 50+% slower than without stereo.

HOWEVER.

It is still not as fast as it should be. No, I'm not talking about generic driver optimizations for this game, I mean there is something buggy with the game code itself related to the terrible indoor/lighting performance as well.

If you're playing outdoors in the forest (where people say the 3D is fine) and you turn off 3D in-game but still have the service running, your framerate will be better (since you just disabled stereo rendering), but it's nowhere comparable to when Stereo3D is turned off in the nvidia control panel. With the 3D service not running, I'm getting totally fluid framerates at max settings at 1080p. With the Stereo3D enabled (BUT NOT ON) I'm getting only "decent" , "playable" framerates. Enabling 3D will drop performance a little more of course, that's not what my last post was about though.

There is a bug in the game code that does something incorrect each frame, and because of that, if Stereo3D is enabled in the Control Panel - even if not being used - performance is bad.

So - once this bug gets patched by the game developers, not only will the "indoor performance" that everyone is talking about be fixed, but OVERALL game fluidity and framerate will go up for 3D Vision users across the board, whether 3D is enabled or not.

This is exactly what i tried to post earlier ...this is the exact same results I get

Hey, that's a bit unfair. Andrew is a good bloke, who believes in the product and wants us to get the best experience out of it. He's probably off somewhere raising he'll on our behalf. I bet he'll be back with a nice update shortly.
