What the heck is the difference between convergence and depth.
Just as the title states whats the difference between the two. Do I need to play with the settings to get the best 3d experience is there a way to set it back to default.

Convergence modifies the position of the screen depth, it allows to pull the entire scene in front of the screen instead of sticking with the default "everything in depth behind the screen".
The best 3D effect is achieved when combining both settings to make close objects in front of the screen and far objects far in depth but is is also a double edged blade. If you abuse of it you'll get pictures that give headaches, so you have to try bit by bit and learn what setting is best for you.

yeah, without setting it carefully you might end up with a 2 meter wide virtual head that has its eyes 2 meter apart

Ya I've been playing. You can make 3d look pretty amazing. I was playing Need for speed and it looked amazing afterwords. Its a pain to setup though lol

The key is practising and not being afraid of changing the values. You'll soon learn how to adjust the settings to as a good experience as possible.

I don't know since i use the iz3d drivers (they work in a similar fashion). But: To adjust convergence with the nvidia driver you sometimes needs to hold the convergencecombo (ctrl+f5/f6) for quite some time before anything happens. Tried it?

Here is a non-proprietary guide to adjusting depth with 3D games complete with visual examples:

http://www.mtbs3d.com/index.php?option=com...7&Itemid=98

You can also check out M3GA to get a gamer-driven list of which games work and under what 3D circumstances. You can submit your own games too.

@alanwest
in arkham, go to the config menu(before you launch the game) and see if you have enabled nvidia 3d. this is the only reason why it isn't working.

Hard to find these days but the Stereographics Developers Handbook was the bible in the day.

A copy can still be found here:

Bear in mind it is a few years old.
