I have gone back to disabling SLI and running with shader cache off and so far it seems to be stable while I am playing. I have not yet done thorough testing, but in areas where I could repeatedly make 3D break in a zone with SLI and BF4 profile, those areas don't break 3D without SLI and using the DAI profile with changes as listed on the blog. But, no matter what I do I always have major issues when I load to another zone. I am still early in and so far only testing between Haven and the Hinterlands. But, ever time the 3D breaks loading into one zone from the other and crashes are frequent. The Alt-tab does not seem to help too much either at least with the 3D. I pretty much just have to hope I can get it to load into the zone with messed up 3D and no crash and then save, quit and re-load. My i7 980X is probably starting to show its age as the loading takes about 2 minutes with shader cache off. Not the end of the world, but having to repeatedly go through the game launching and zone loading process is really a pain. If you have it mostly working one way, stick with it - you are not going to get flawless running on this one, the game/drivers just don't play well together and that's just an unfortunate truth. In my case, I am now at a stage where I can run in SLI, with the BF4 profile, cache off, and can most times quick travel without crashing, and most times when I load a level, shaders are not broken. But sometimes it does crash, and sometimes shaders are broken. But it's a balance I can tolerate.

I think the main thing with this game is that everyone has to do slightly different things to make it work. There is no magic bullet, just a list of things to try. Some things definitely screw it up, but other things may or may not reduce issues. Some people are luckier than others. If you have it mostly working one way, stick with it - you are not going to get flawless running on this one, the game/drivers just don't play well together and that's just an unfortunate truth.

Yupp, removing the evil KB update defo improved stuff for me (Surround/Single GPU). Meaning is not crashing on fast travel. Also, sometimes the game does disable the fix. Sometimes 1-2-3 shaders are in 2D (the 3D Vision driver fails to stereorize them). I also noticed that restarting the game (if you get the above) is not enough...Restarting the PC completely in my case fixes these problems 100%. Once I get the game in a stable state (where everything is loaded properly) I can play the game non-stop. No crashes, no CTDs, no disabling the fix and so on... Longest session was around 10h yesterday (stopped counting the cinematics at around 25 and fast travelling to different maps after 10). Previously (WITH the KB installed) it was crash-fest on every loading screen... Maybe this helps someone (tested on Surround/SLi and Single GPU-> official profile. I don't know how it behaves on SLI/Single Screen :() One thing of notice is that I have VSYNC disabled in game and VSYNC ALWAYS ON in Nvidia Panel. I've been playing most of the weekend without the kb and not having any issues for the most part. It definitely makes a huge difference but there is more to it.. If its loaded I get it break in otherways, worse ways... For example, I did go through a short period where I was having shader load issues again, and I did get the fix to break once or twice in skyhold on the default profile. My findings are on par with Helifax. I found I can fix it on load by simply exiting to menu and loading the same save again. (occasional shader load issue on one or two elements, and do not turn 3d off) There is definitely a lot of truth in what Mike is saying as well. I worked out with my installation after removing the Kb update some of the things that I had to do to make the game work at all before no longer apply, and actually make it worse! Once I get it to load correctly I no longer clear the cache for example. (if it crashes) So for a lot of you this is probably a factor. There is actually a bunch of new different tricks I use and have it working near perfectly, it still will crash on zone on occasion, and you can't actually use the alt+ tab trick anymore at all. However it usually stay stable once you are in game as helifax says. I have also gone back to max detail graphics on a single screen using the Bf4 profile in SLI. Ahh, I stumbled across that White texture problem, seems like its related to lighting as it went away once I went into the fortress in this save. Screen and save attached. P.S 5 hours later, my game is still pretty close to perfectly stable.

I'm leaning more and more towards Vsync being a critical part of this puzzle, and I think it works in tandem with how you have your wndows enviroment setup along with profile and setup options as per the blog. If I switch it off I start getting issues again. I'll be slogging through the rest of the game this week as I am pretty much not having any issues anymore getting in the way of me enjoying the game in 3D. If I get through it all and the game stays stable I will write up a guide with all my settings that give me a stable game. But at this point I have commented enough and I don't want to eat my words. I just have to put this out there fellas... I havent had a single crash in weeks! Running Non SLI, V-Sync off, shader cache off and 3D fix V.6 installed. I always use continue when the main menu loads. The only issue i have had was loosing the 3D effect by 50% in MP when certain areas load, but that only happened twice and all i had to do was restart the game. Frame rate is stable now at 30fps and the game looks like a million bucks! THANK YOU!

The only issue i have had was loosing the 3D effect by 50% in MP when certain areas load, but that only happened twice and all i had to do was restart the game. Frame rate is stable now at 30fps and the game looks like a million bucks!

I strongly suggest you dual boot too windows 7x at least if you want to play this game in 3D

I have never had major issues with single card setup, its in SLI where the fun seems to start, 30 fps is a little to slow for me. But I am glad you had success!

Are you running the "evil update"?

Black_Hat if you look on the blog you will see a mention that 8 class of OS is not supported. I strongly suggest you dual boot too windows 7x at least if you want to play this game in 3D

I'm running the game in windows 8.1 using my own wrapper dll. It's not like windows 7 is easy to buy nowadays.

I end up using only one Titan to run 3D surround. SLI has issues here and there and it's not fun to have to deal with them all the time. 3D is really nice, only with one card setup, I have to adjust 3D depth to about 60% during gameplay, and almost 0% during cutscenes (3D still in effect). another thing is that the reported framerate for single card is lower than SLI, but the gameplay is much more smooth...~ last thing, not about fix, but about the game, @ nightmare difficulty, fighting boss-level enemies is really boring, they just have insane amount of HP, it's not more difficult to beat, just taking a long while to end the misery~~
