3D Vision Monitor
So I have a 47" 3DTV, and I tried the 3DTV Play trial, and didn't really feel like spending $40 on it. So I haven't used 3D for PC games since. Now that I've found a deal on some 3D Vision Monitors.

So I have the opportunity to buy the Acer GD235HZbid used from someone for $200 plus $30 shipping. The monitor costs $300 on newegg:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824009222&cm_sp=Cat_Monitors-_-3D_Monitors-_-24-009-222

However, it doesn't include the glasses or emitter, although the seller will add in the Nvidia 3D glasses kit which includes glasses and emitter for an additional $100. This means the total price to get the setup from him would be $330.

However, I found these:
http://www.amazon.com/NVIDIA-3D-Vision-Glasses-Wired/dp/B0056EZ4I8/ref=dp_cp_ob_e_title_3
Would those work? That would make the total cost only $293. Also, is it true that you get 3DTV Play free if you have 3D Vision? That's what I heard. If so, would both the wireless and wired glasses work for this?

So getting that is one option. However, I was looking on newegg, and saw this:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236092&cm_sp=Cat_Monitors-_-3D_Monitors-_-24-236-092
This is only $330 after a rebate, and comes with the wireless glasses and emitter. So, this is brand new, and around the same price as the used ACER. Is this monitor good?

At the moment I don't have a 1080p monitor, so I kind of want one anyways, plus this will save me from paying $40 for 3DTV Play. And, I realize these aren't 3D Vision 2, only 1. Is the first generation still good, and still usable? I'm guessing it will still be a major upgrade from 3DTV Play.

If I were you, I'd go with the 3rd option. Thats been said to be a good monitor (much better than mine). Plus with the external emitter included, you have 3dTV play for free when it is connected. Then you have both options at your fingertips. To play on the TV when necessary, or the monitor when you need to. Thats how I have my tv and monitor set up.

So do you need to emitter to get 3DTV for free? Not just the wired glasses?

I'm unsure, as I don't have the wired glasses. I have the full kit.

Okay. How long do the batteries last?

Also, is 3D Vision 1 like really dark? I know 2 has lightboost, but if the first generation isn't that bad I don't think it would be a big deal. And do you find 3D Vision superior to 3DTV Play?

Thank you for the fast replies BTW.

Im taking it your posting about my forsale thread. The monitors are good deals at $230 a peice. The glasses i have for $100 are the 3d vision 2 kit. There the newer style glasses the only real differences are they fit better with headphones, hold a better charge and have a 20% more viewing angle. You can use the nvidia 3d vision 1 glasses too. So if you bought one of my monitors you could grab those $64 3d glasses and use them with it. The kit i have forsale i only bought 2 weeks ago from newegg, i added them for $100 extra so someone has a choice wether or not they want them or go with the orginal glasses. If noone is interested im going to just return them back to newegg, i just figured i pass down the deal to someone.

The asus version you posted is just there version of my Acer thats the only difference, just a different brand name.

Im sure if you looked on ebay you could find those version 1 glasses even cheaper than $64. Either way you just save about $50 my way. I have to pay $30 just to ship one so im really only making $200

Yes! It is about your sale thread lol! Hope you don't take offense to me posting around about it. I'm simply trying to do some research before I make a purchase.

I wasn't aware that you were offering the Version 2 Glasses. Hmmm. I do wear a headset most of the time when I am playing.

Does your monitors have any dead pixels or anything? Have you ever had any problems with them?

EDIT - I believe you need an emitter connected to activate 3DTV play for free. This is what it says on Nvidia's page:
"NOTE: the 3D Vision IR emitter is required to activate 3DTV Play software
on your PC."

Don't worry about it no offense, I do the same thing when I'm thinking of buying something. I havent had any issues at all with the monitors. I've ran all 3 in surround for the past 4 months in 2D and 3D. I haven't noticed any dead pixels or backlight bleed there still relatively new so there shouldn't be any problems. Plus acer has a 3 year warranty on them anyways. The nvidia vision 2 glasses aren't needed you can use the first version and you can probably get them used for cheap. I had the first version when I first bought the monitors and they work just as good. The only reason I upgraded is because they has a wider viewing angle and I ran 3d surround. Plus they fit my head a little better after long uses' other than that there practically the same. I'm still in the 30 day return window for the glasses but after I ship them back and pay the restocking fee I would be down to like 115 from the 150 I payed so I figured I might aswell just sell them here too and avoid all that. I will be honest of price is a concern just grab the first version of the glasses you can probably grab them on eBay cheap. If you don't mine splurging for the best go with mine. It's not a big deal if I don't sell them I can always return them so don't worry if you don't got the money for the new glasses. I'm just selling my monitors toget money for a higher resolution 27in screen. So selling the monitors are my main priority.

40hrs battery life, 2hrs to charge. /thumbup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

I've benn using 3d vision 1 for over 2 years now. I LOVE it! I've had no problems seeing things in games. 3d monitors are really bright, plus if you do actually have some problem seeing in a game, most games have a brightness adjustment. But reall, i've never had to do that.

3d vision is definately superior to 3dtv play. 3dtv play is limited to the HDMI bandwidth. 3d vision uses Dual DVI for full res 60hz per eye.
