3D vision 2 with lightboost vs Passive 3D

Lightboost: brighter and less crosstalk than Passive
Lightboost: brighter than passive but more crosstalk
Lightboost: dimmer than passive but less crosstalk
If you get a monitor can always get the added perk of 120hz 2D *shrug*. Tridef needs side by side mode. You need a display that supports that as well if interested. There arent many games that Tridef can do better then 3d vision but I cant speak for future. Though I am also a projector user so I cant really speak for displays since I wasnt happy with any of them other then projector / hmz-t#
I used a hack to make 3d vision run on my passive display. The 3D algorithm (depth, angles etc) is completely unchanged so it's a fair assessment of the 3D algorithm itself. In EVERY game I tested, tridef yields significantly more natural and realistic-looking results. I understand that tridef lowers the framerate a bit more than nvidia 3d, but a performance boost doesn't mean anything if the world looks like crap. Also, tridef features depth-buffer-3d method which obviously performs at about twice the fps of nvidia 3d. For these reasons, if this monitor doesn't support tridef at 120 hz it would be somewhat of a dealbreaker for me.
Thanks for your input. How bright is that monitor when viewed in 3D?
In 2D, the monitor has what I would call an average brightness (ie. quite bright - totally normal). In 3D, I'd estimate it is maybe 10-15% darker than that. I've never used any other passive or active 3D system, so I can't compare it to those. But I can say that the brightness never bothers me. Even when I first got 3Dvision, I barely noticed the slightly darker image at all. I don't have the brightness/contrast settings turned up particularly high on my monitor, either. One thing I will say about this monitor is that the colour is slightly cooler than I'd like (as opposed to warm or neutral), but it's no biggie.

I have Asus VG278H and its rare when I see severe ghosting. The most noticable was in Skyrim I think but still can play it no problem

I really want to get the vg278h now but there's a very important thing stopping me: the fact it does not work properly with tridef. Of all games I tested, NVidia 3D vision even with Helix Mod was very glitchy whereas tridef looked flawless. Diablo 3: nvidia has weird random shadows in act2 town that aren't rendered in 3d, causing disorientation. Also some random plants rendered wrongly as well. Tridef had absolutely ZERO GLITCHES. GTA 4: Both nvidia and tridef fail to display lights properly at night. The halos of the lights will sometimes only play in one eye, and from behind objects too, causing disorientation. However, tridef has the depth buffer 3d option which looks just as good (but with tiny bit of blur around objects). Under depth buffer 3d ALL glitches are eliminated. Bioshock infinite: tridef looks more real/natural

Dunno about glitches. All games fixed with Helix patch work flawless on my rig (see in signature). I cant compare though, never tried tridef

The glitchiness sounds very unusual. Maybe it's caused by the fact you're using a hack with passive glasses. Try some of these games. They all work flawlessly or near-flawlessly for me. If they don't look flawless or near-flawless to you, then something may be wrong on your end. Remember to adjust depth and convergence to your liking first. Witcher 2 Remember Me (helixmod) Quantum Connundrum (helixmod) Retrovirus Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon (helixmod) Metro 2033 Bioshock Infinite is one of the only games I've tried with Tridef, and I was very disappointed. I found the 3D to be shallow and barely noticeable, certain water areas were rendered incorrectly, and the overall performance cost was dreadful (below 60fps on two Titans)

Alright thank you guys very much, last question: VG278H or VG278HE? Based on the lots of research I did, seems like most enthusiasts prefer the 8H because it's slightly brighter or something, but the HE has a lower defect rate. I read the 8H can use tridef just barely as long as it's made after May 2012 that can read "Side by Side" mode 3D. I have no idea whether or not HE is able to do this but it is supposedly a newer model. Both same price when including 3d vision 2
