Best 27" 3D Vision Monitor?
  2 / 2
Im using Asus VG278HR, which got the built in emitter. Yes the checkerboard affect is there, but i notice it only on very bright colors (usually white text on dark background) I was a little annoyed in the beginning but now i love this monitor. Before i had the non light-boost 23" LG.

One annoying thing about the Asus VG278H is the lack of display ports which I think means you need to pick an active DVI adapter if you have one of the later graphics cards and want to play in surround. But I am not sure there is an alternative. Because of this I just stuck with me 24' QE's

I have used the VG278H for years; certainly a good monitor as far as 3D Vision is concerned. Especially the ghosting is as good as it gets on a monitor, I suppose. But the picture quality is not the "best", judged for itself. The ROG Swift/PG278Q I'm currently using is MUCH better in picture quality: deeper "black", nicer colors. But due to its higher resolution it ideally would need the most powerful graphic card(s). That would mean a GTX980 Ti, or better yet: two Tis. But with the Swift we have the "SLI bug" - it is unclear IF and WHEN it will be resolved. PLUS: Ghosting is significantly more than with the VG278H. Not really annoying in every game, but in some/many, so it is a shortfall anyhow. So, since there seems to be no alternative to the rather "imperfect" Swift I'm considering going back to "only" Full HD resolution. But I would really like some better picture quality than what the VG278 has to offer, if possible ...

Hi, I posted a comment on the quality of ASUS VG278H screen, but eventually the screen is not so bad. The screen is pretty good in color and in 3D, the ghosting is not very visible. I think that at present, the ASUS VG278H remains the best 3D FULL HD monitor.

What about the new BENQ UltraWide 3440x1440 144Hz 3D with built in emitter?

And what about this monitor: Benq XL2420G It is not 27" but 24", but it is G-sync. What about crosstalk? anything important to consider about problems with this monitor? I am thinking on Asus VG278H too, but it seems to be older and there are different models (VG27H, VG27HE, VG27HR, etc). I also like the "eyecare" thing of Benq monitors, even though I have no idea is that is a real feature of simple selling strategy.

That is probably incorrect. There is no ultra wide 3D monitor with built in emitter in the works.

ASUS VG278H and VG278HE..., the only difference is the build in ir emitter and glasses of the HE? everythig else is exactly the same? same 3D quality? I say because the difference in price is very low (only around 45€ more expensive the HE).
Absolutely identical monitors, only eitter is difference
This is mostly correct. The big difference is that the VG27H can function with 3D Blu-ray players and the PS3 via HDMI 1.4, since it has a built in emitter. This feature also allows you to use TriDef for stereoscopic gaming. Albeit, not at 120Hz full frame, since these panels still have the old non HDMI 2.0 inputs.

I can see specs of new models and both are hdmi 1.4 Also the models with emitter is VG278HE. Maybe Asus changed the model names? So it is a good idea to buy VG278HE today for 425€?

I have the VG278HE, it "does not" have a built in emitter. The VG278HE "requires" a Dual Link DVI connection and "will not" work with a 3D Blu-ray player for stereoscopic viewing. The hump that you see on top of the VG278H, is the emitter. As you can see, the VG278HE, does not have this hump.
