an update:

after two days of smooth sailing...yesterday all of a sudden all my games began to take a long time (sometimes more than 2 minutes) to load.
now I rolled back to the 258 official driver, the loading time go back to normal.

I'm battling now with my PC (always a fun way to spend a weekend...not!) Had CD 1.34 drivers working for 3DV Surround, but I did the firmware upgrade for my Palit 2GB GTX 460 cards (the one they said was made to work w/ 260.63 drivers) and then proceeded to try to upgrade to 1.36. Seemed to install without error, but upon the required reboot, it will only load the center screen and @ 800x600x60 hz, with a bunch of video noise (colored blocks, etc..) and finally bluescreen. I can't roll back to 1.34 either- getting the same issue now with that. Tried removing the drivers, even running driver sweeper again (and even creative audio drivers, which recently updated, for good measure), but to no avail.

I got it to work once (I even forget if it was 1.34 or 1.36) durning the trial and error hell that was yesterday, but it came up w/ SLI off and span multiple displays of course disabled. When I tried to enable 3D Vision Surround/SLI it freaked out again as before.

Any ideas where to go from here? I don't think I can roll back to an even earlier driver since those didn't support my 460 cards and surround. 1.34 was working fine before I messed with it and the GPU flash. GPU flash seems to have taken fine without error though, as it works fine on safe boot and with standard windows video drivers. I don't even know where to get the "old" Palit firmware or if it's possible to flash back to the original one.

Should I try to remove the SLI bridge (or even the entire 2nd GPU) and try it single screen w/ no SLI first? Last time I tried that, when I reconnected the 2nd gpu it didn't recoginize it automatically and I needed to try to reinstall drivers anyway. So any suggestions are welcome, thanks!

@whodamanxbox: Yes, DVI can carry 2 channels of sound. Try uninstalling all Nvidia drivers, run driver sweeper in Windows Safe Mode, then reinstall your drivers in normal Windows. If that doesn't work try it again with the 258 drivers, and start a new thread if that fails.

@mikemav: It sounds like a bad bios flash. There is another guy who started a thread on here because his dual monitors wouldn't work after the BIOS flash. You may give it another shot. If it doesn't already, flash your bios in DOS. You can use NVFLASH, and I can link you to easy instruction if you need.

No, I didn't know how to extract and keep a copy of the original. if anyone knows where to get a stock firmware for Palit GTX460 2Gb please let me know. The flash went through w/ no errors and works fine w/ standard windows driver (or safe boot), but not w/ the two most current Nvidia drivers. I tried to reflash to no avail. I may end up putting back my old 470 single card (which of course won't work on triple display 3DV Surround), but may just get me back up and running @ least w/ single monitor.
