Awesome new Sony 3D headset system! ANDREW- any idea if 3D Vision can be made to work with it?
1 / 2
Sony is coming out with a 3D headset system that sounds awesome. It is using OLED panels to create a 720p hd 3d image. The perceived screen size while using it can be up to 750"! The hands on reports so far have said that the images are remarkably clean and the 3d effects are great with absolutely no cross talk. THis sounds like it would take 3D Vision gaming to a whole new level.

Andrew, have you heard about this technology and do you know if it will be possible to use 3D Vision with it? It doesn't use shutter glasses so I don't know how it would work but I hope there is someway to make it happen.
I'll get it regardless and use it with my PS3 for games and movies but being able to use it with 3D Vision would be a thousand times better.

it uses 2 oled screens at 0.7" screens for each individual eye i am led to beileve, which will mean a complety solid ghoust free 3d far in excess of what the cinema can do, you will totally be able to pull convergence and seperation to limits of your eye.

I for one, very much indeed look forward to this.

Oh hell yes, that would make an insane difference to what you can do with 3D. Lining up the gun as if you are actually holding it in an FPS, while at the same time not being distorted and seemingly fine! Just an example. The effect could be out of this world in comparison to what we are used to with "Screen" 3D.

A very serious possibility for this is using it with Track IR
http://www.naturalpoint.com/trackir/
If you have the head set on and look left with Track IR the image on the screen will rotate to the left as well.
One of the criticisms with track IR is you move your head but the screen doesn't move, this system would allow for that.
Here's a list of the games that have official support.

Hi
Check done on the posts before this. I already responded that yes this is possible if its an HDMI 1.4 device, we can support it with 3DTV Play.

Guys. This sounds so cool.I want to buy it. Will it be available In the states soon? If it works as andrew says it shoould, does that mean it will work out of the box In 3d vision without all these tweaks etc?

This is so strange. Date for release is different everywhere. @Redman just pre-ordered it at http://store.sony.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10551&storeId=10151&langId=-1&productId=8198552921666383670
Says October?! Should be november but maybe they ship it out early cause shipping times.
Also Id make sure its sony and not somewhere else. Im def. getting two years extended on it. Might be easy to scratch screen or headstrap breaking or some ****. 80 bucks is def worth it imo. Bought sony headphones and it would break on a joint after 3 months everytime.

If for some reason it doesn't look cool or work well for me, can I return it? I really wanna try this in 3d but if its cool in 2d that also could be reason alone to buy it. I've never used a head mounted display and really hope the immersion makes it worth it. SKYRIM with this could be awesome right!?!?!??!

@Redman
You really need to think this through. First off, depending on where you buy it you can return it(have to check their policy). You can wait for it to release then see if your local sony store has it on display. Also Skyrim "MAY/MAY NOT" be 3d compatible...
Wait till release then see reviews. Then decide.

Forget about all the 750 inches at 20 metres crap. The reason past headsets have failed is down to the poor FOV. Now does it state the actual FOV? If not then I'd be very wary. One video on youtube stated 45 degrees which is just acceptable for VR but anything less then you're better of with your large plasma or PJ.
