first - most of all are experiencing problems with almost everything from crt to samsung/Viewsonic, DLP etc... it's much easier if you let us fine tuning this instead of forcing everyone to use your setting that it will never fit for everyone. it's almost an year we are asking that, we are ALL asking that, what does it costs to add some sliders and make evryone happy? so we will stop bother you on this forum and stop saying that nvidia 3dvision is worst than 10 years ago shutter glasses by asus or elsa or whatever...

second - about custom profiles, i would like to have the ability to choose where 3d should be off or on, i say this because turning it off from the pyramid is not like turn it off from the panel, cause from the pyramid the samsung settings are locked and also image quality is not the same.
So the best should be to remove the generic stereoscopic option and move it to the 3d option so we can choose it for every application
Also we would like to see values for convergency and stuff like that, and we would like to know when we save if it has been saved and when we reopen tha application again if the settings are still how we have setted them up the last time.
If we have value we can also share the best setting for every game helping each other with our personal experiences

thanks

Glad to see opengl is being worked on. I have been itching to play knights of the old republic 1 and 2 as well as Doom 3 in 3d. Still baffles me why kotor is on the 3d compatability list.

Yeah me 2! Really a big downside that OpenGL wasn't implemented in the 1st place! Well keeping fingers crossed as there is no beta (or normal) release for a month on any drivers...So they should release something this month! Hoping a small OpenGL support will be in the list!:D

I'm pleased to post the first set of responses from NVIDIA's 3D Vision Product Manager, Andrew Fear.

    1. When will NVIDIA add 3D Vision support for Quad and 3-way SLI?

In our latest 3D Vision R195 drivers, we do support 3-way and Quad SLI as a beta. We aren't officially claiming support yet since we haven't finished performance tuning it. However, any 3D Vision owner with these SLI configs should absolutely try it and give us your comments.

    2. Will we see OpenGl 3DVision support soon?

Great question. We can't commit to a support schedule yet for OpenGL 3D Vision. We are working on it and many other new features. I would like to ask the community, what are the applications that are driving the demand for this feature?

    3. Can we expect that more features will be added to 3D Vision to help with compatibility and user control, such as, shutter sync timing, custom profiles and a power user settings mode?

This is a really interesting question, and let me take each feature at a time.

Shutter sync timing. This is a feature that shouldn’t be needed. We custom tune all of the timing for each display and it should work properly. If you are having problems, this is a bug and I would like to know what displays are having the problems so we can fix them.
4. Are you going to fix the framerate impact associated with enabling the crosshair while using 3D Vision?

This problem you are referring to is related to our crosshair solution. The way the crosshair is calculated does take some 3D horsepower. We are pursuing two options: 1) have the game developer fix them (which we are making some progress on) like Borderland’s latest patch, and 2) investigate better techniques for the crosshair. Unfortunately I don’t have a timetable for a fix for users right now.

    5. The last two driver releases (1.16 CD beta and 1.17 CD) contain a bug which prevents users with generic CRTs, generic DLP TVs (like Samsungs), and at least some DLP projectors from successfully completing the 3D Vision Setup Wizard. Our displays aren't recognized as 3D Ready (despite the fact that they worked fine with all drivers up to 1.15 CD) and so we're only able to select 3D Vision Discover mode (i.e. anaglyph).

This problem should be fixed with our latest CD v1.19 on NVIDIA.com http://www.nvidia.com/object/geforce_3D_vi...n7_CD_1.19.html. If users are still having problems, please let me know.
With regards to item 3, I think that manual shutter control would be great -- if not for end users then for developers. One problem is that 3D Vision only transforms the geometry, so a lot of the post process effects don't work (since they get rendered in screen space, not world space). It would be nice to be able to manually render left/right images (alternately) and manually sync it with the glasses. So far as I know, this is not allowed (but then again, I don't have access to the NDA version of nvAPI. P.S. I am working on several innovative methods to dramatically improve the 3D Vision experience (including focus/headache problems) -- I am registered as a CUDA developer, but I have applied several times to become a registered Nvidia Game Developer with no response (it has been months). It would help if Nvidia could approve my application or at least notify me as to why it is denied (should be registered under gavan@kiwi64.com). Thanks! :)

3D Vision does not work using the Asus g51J laptop with GTX 260M video card and Acer 5360 projector (Both of which are 3D Vision compatible. You get the following error:

    Error in Stereo Driver
Stereo Blit call copied only half of the image, as it did not recognize Nv_Stereo_Image_Header and performed a regular blit instead of stereo.

It doesn't appear to be something that can be fixed with current or old drivers. When will Nvidia correct this issue?

There is a large community of professional users doing research in molecular modeling and structural biology for which OpenGL 3D Vision support is extremely important in both Windows and Linux environments. We use applications which use OpenGL stereo, and support for these is at present limited to high-end Quadro Graphics cards. With older CRT-stereo this didn't use to be necessary.

hi I own the 3d vision system with 2 glasses and run them on the mits 73" wd73735 dlp 60hz for a while now and its great, so great that I upgraded today to a wd 82" wd82737 dlp 120hz thats on the way here. My only gripe is I just found out that it won't even matter because it only goes 60hz. Could someone tell me why because i was so excited to see the difference...... also does the frames run at 30hz for each eye since the dlp runs at 60?

Again, chiming in for opengl support.

I purchased this product mainly due to the fact that when it was announced we were told (in nvidia interviews) that opengl support would be comming in a future driver release. I bought this product in good faith thinking we would see a revision of the wide support nvidia's former solution had. It has been a long time and we still have not had a release that supports opengl applications outside of the professional realm, and when we did it was only those that support quad buffering on workstation cards.

Now, I also own a triplehead2go module that I use for greater immersion in my flight sims. I WILL purchase another two 120hz Samsungs as soon as someone comes up with a) support for 120hz in triple wide resolutions and B) a 3d solution that works and actually really and truly supports opengl apps.

I'm simply waiting to see who will do it first. I will not buy another product with promised support that never arrives.

I'm a big fan of team green, but as far as the opengl thing, you folks have really dropped the ball on this one. Here's hoping you can recover with a viable solution that works.

And while we are on the subject, I hope that you can further provide support for triple widescreen rez's for the geforce 200 series in sli configurations with your newer driver releases. If you can do it with the 400 series, why not with your previous flagship product? We aren't talking dx11 here - just the ability to run three monitors together.

You would impress the heck out of me if you could do that. Of course, it's also my critical customer perspective that it should have happened with your original release of 3d vision - but I suppose I ask way too much.

I am pleased to state that according to Nvidia's site, the geforce 200 series is reported to support 3d vision surround.

I am very happy to hear that I can continue to utilize my 275 sli setup for the time being (whether it has the horsepower required is another question altogether).

I thought it was important to point this out for others in my position. Now I just need two more 120hz monitors.

If someone working on drivers reads this, thank you for that. Once again, I look forward to hearing your progress on support for opengl games. Thank you very much.

yeah it will be a nice slideshow of images doing a 3d surround with your setup, maybe with games of 5 years ago it will work fine :)
take the fps you currently do with 3d on and divide it by 3, it really doubt you will reach a playable (30+ at least) framerate with most games...

Seeing as how I already run most of my games (minus crysis, et. al) in 5040x1050 (triplehead2go) and have no issues whatsoever, I'm not terribly worried. But thanks for your post. It will certainly take some heavy horsepower to run (modern dx 10/11) games in full 3d accross 3 monitors, and in order to do so, I assume one would have to make some concessions graphically, or fork out major dough to run on an absolutely cutting edge system. This is definately a step in the right direction, and not all games of course require major cards to get satisfactory framerates (ie: left4dead series - one of the best games in 3d out!)

I think best game in 3D out today is BC2, and 3D vision surround will look sick in that game. By my consern is all this will prove to be very expansive since you need to run SLi and own 3 3D monitors

Well, YES it is prohibitively expensive. Running cutting edge games always has been with the latest greatest hardware. In this type of setup you would need even more expensive hardware, which is why I am glad the requirements include 200 series cards as well as 400 series cards. I'm more than willing to trade off a little eye candy in exchange for actual 3d vision surround.
