Hello, I'm trying to decide what might be the best 3D TV to get to use with my 3D Vision system. Are there any TV's out there that allow adjusting the 3D depth? I'm used to being able to do that with my Acer 3D monitor, so I'd like to be able to do that with a TV as well.
So I'm considering the following two 65" TV's, which are both 4K TV's as well as active 3D (the Samsung is also the new curved TV):
Sony XBR-64X900B
Samsung UN65HU9000F
As far as I know, the Samsung doesn't allow adjusting the depth. Does anyone know if the Sony will allow this? Also, anyone have any suggestions about which 3D TV is really good, or perhaps the best?
As I understand it, plasma was really good for 3D, but they appear to be being phased out.
Thanks!
Ian

Depth is adjusted by the graphics card, so depth adjustment will work on every 3d tv.
In terms of big screen 3d, you absolutely cannot go past a projector. I recently picked up the BenQ W1070, and it's excellent.
If you are using 3D Vision with NVidia glasses, you should be aware that the glasses don't work on any TV. You have to use the glasses that come with the TV, and use 3D TV Play software.

There currently are not and HD 3DTVs supported by 3D Vision and there most likely will not be any. They get 3DTV Play support for free and more than likely will balk at paying licensing fees for 3D Vision.
But with the increase in bandwidth and new video processing chipsets, unofficial workarounds may soon become possible.
Or better yet, we can hope that Nvidia will support higher refresh rates/frame sequential, via 3D TV Play in the near future.

Thanks for the replies. Yes I am aware that the glasses aren't compatible with 3D TV's, and that I'd have to use glasses that work with whatever TV. And, I realize that I should be able to use 3DTV Play for free as I already have 3D Vision, and as I understand it the 3DTV Play software should recognize my 3D Vision transmitter cube and allow me to use it for free.
Glad to have it clarified that the 3D depth adjustment can be done via the NVidia graphics drivers.
I'd still like to know however what TV's people think are the best for 3D? Some 4K TV's have much better passive 3D than previous passive 3D TV's, since 4K can use the extra vertical pixels for the extra viewpoint, effectively doubling previous passive 3D resolution.
Has anyone gotten a chance to compare these 4K passive 3D TV's with active 3D TV's? Is active still better?
Also, any opinions on the best 3D TV out there?
Thanks for the BenQ W1070 mention, Pirateguybrush. Sounds like a nice relatively inexpensive option to keep in mind. I had gotten a chance to test a 720p 3D projector at a software company where I helped program military helicopter simulator software, and those projectors (about two years ago) weren't very good at the time. Sounds like (from reading reviews) that these projectors have gotten a lot better lately.
Thanks,
Ian

You should also be aware that 3D TV Play only supports 720p/60hz, or 1080p/24hz. The later is unplayable, so it doesn't matter if you have a 1080p TV, or a 4K tv - you'll be playing at 720p. Because of the way the technology works (don't ask me why though), this tends to look much better on a projector than a TV.
I've not heard of anyone testing 3D TV Play on 4K tvs, though you might be able to bring your PC to the store and try it out. It's a big enough purchase that they'd probably humour you. I recommend Mirror's Edge for assessing crosstalk levels.

Also, to your OP, my Samsung TV does have built-in adjustment for depth. I'm sorry, I'm not at home right now and I don't remember my model number, because I rarely game with it. I bought the 3D TV for movies, not gaming. The depth adjustment is quite limited, but it is there. I'm not positive but I am thinking you have to use the built-in depth controls for watching movies - maybe someone can correct that if necessary?
I use PowerDVD 12 when watching 3D movies - but that isn't very often. It has probably been six months since I watched a 3D movie. But iirc, PowerDVD has controls for depth, my TV has controls for depth, and I had to tweak a bunch of stuff to get it looking just right.

I am using 3dtv play and a LG 55" UB850V. I am currently gaming at 1920x1080@60 Hz using HDMI Checkerboard that comes with 3dtv play from NVIDIA. But there is nothing like real 3d Vision at 24 Hz!! I love the Pop-Out Effect!! It is brilliant!! Helix is the best modder for 3dVision!!
Does anybody know how to enable 3D in 4K resolution??
