Unable to activate 3d vision
Hi All,

I have a GTX 460 connected to an Alienware AW2310 monitor with a DL-DIV cable at 120Hz but I am not able to get 3D vision to work.

I am getting the red message "Warning: Attempt to ..." and in the setup wizard when the hexagon and triangle appear, they seem to be alternating at 120Hz, but the glasses are out of sync with the monitor (I see both in each eye, although on the left the hexagon is stronger and on the right the triangle is stronger.)

Any suggestion as to how to fix this?

Thanks

First, are you SURE you used the right monitor cable? It must be the one that came with the monitor. If you got the new one and the old one switched it would still plug in fine but the 3D won't work.

Also, what version of the NVIDIA drivers are you using?

Thanks for your reply. I am sure that I am using the DL-DVI cable, connected to the slot 1 of the video card and my monitor is configured as the main monitor on Windows. I have a second monitor connected, a Philips 24" with a 1920x1200 resolution. The driver is 280.26, I just made a clean installation of the driver.

I partially solved the problem by disconnecting the second monitor and activating the stereo vision. The 3D vision works perfectly under these conditions, but as soon as I connect the second monitor the glasses lost sync with the display and I am not able to see stereo anymore. The monitor is still running at 120Hz, but the red warning message is activated and the glasses are out of sync with the monitor (in fact it looks more like a delay).
Anyone at NVIDIA that can address this issue or anyone that has had this same problem in the past? Any help would be much appreciated.

I have similar problem (explained in another tread) with 280.26 driver.

Something is definitely wrong with 280. It is as if the driver wish to set a refresh rate common to both monitors (like 60Hz for example), which 3D Vision can't handle.

I will try with older driver. Can someone confirm that this setup is working with a specific driver version (like 275.33 for example)?

I got this problem when I updated drivers 260.99 -> 275.33 (I didnt reboot after update). Everything went fine after I played non-3D monitor disabled, not just turn off but disabled in controlpanel.

I found a fix for the problem in my other thread, I don't know if it will fix your problem (it fixed mine!).

Try disabling your second monitor in Windows control panel (In Windows 7, you right-click desktop and go to 'Screen resolution'. You select your first monitor and select Multiple display: Show only on Desktop 1 (Assuming monitor 1 is your main 3D monitor))

Then, enable it in Nvidia control panel (in the Display->Set up multiple display, check the disabled monitor).
