Well, many hours, $1000 and a motherboard upgrade later, I'm finally back on a fresh installation of Windows 7, so that I can play Witcher 3 in 3D.
I guess I'm probably a bit of a princess when it comes to 3D (I tend to like it perfect or not at all), but despite the excellent fix, I'm having mixed thoughts. I found the 2D HUD horrible, and it hurt my eyes. But that got greatly improved by turning off NPC names and installing the No Talk Icon mod.
But the Witcher Sense really hurts my eyes in 3D. I don't think there's anything wrong with the fix. I think it's the way the fish eye lens changes the FOV, which splits the left and right images so far apart that they get unevenly blurred. When things get blurred in only one eye, my eyes want to explode. Thief had a similar problem.
Does anyone know of a setting or something to lessen the Witcher Sense FOV and/or blur?

Last I checked the Hud is not 2D (or you can push it in depth from the ini file). I think there are some presets for it also;)
As for the Witcher Senses mode the only thing I can think of is to use a different convergence on a different key bind (or the same key/controller button as the Witcher Sense activation button in-game).

All HUD elements are locked to a single depth (which can modified in INI file and/or toggled with ~ key). That's fine for Geralt's health bar and quest info and stuff, which can happily reside at or near screen depth.
But it gets broken when there are HUD elements moving around 'out in the world', such as enemy health bars or NPC names that float over the NPC's heads, since they render at the pre-defined HUD depth, rather than the depth of the enemies or NPCs.
I find this unpleasant, because often the HUD marker will 'cut into' its parent object, causing my eyes to try to focus on two depths at once. Constantly trying to adjust the HUD with ~ isn't really an option, since NPCs and enemies are always on the move, and often there are more than one at a time. Like I said though, disabling NPC names in the options and installing the No Talk Icons mod helps.
That's a good idea to try a custom convergence toggle

Not sure if you tried this mod regarding the Witcher sense. I have not tried it myself so I have no idea whether this will help or not. If you do try it, let me know what the results are. The witcher sense has not bothered me but I do find it the least favorite feature of the game. Also, the camera mod is great since it plays like Skyrim where you can go into first person and the zoom out in 3rd person really helps with FOV. What really baffles me is I just can't understand CD Projekt's decision on locking the camera. .

Thankfully this game can be modded somewhat and ini tweaks may help. Maybe you can get it to your absolute liking with some of these options. The camera mods I am using have taken Witcher 3 to a whole new level and I can now play this game to my personal preference. One thing CD Projekt needs to do is better mod tools and this game can become a king of RPGs. Skyrim modded is still tops for me for an open world RPG. I would like to see CD Projekt to the top because in spite of my complaints about the camera and modding capability, they are one of my favorite game developers along with Bethesda and Bohemia Interactive.

Thanks! Thanks to your first link, I discovered that there's an ini setting called MotionSicknessFocusMode which seems to remove the blur during the effect. I think that may be exactly what I need!
I think there are two things that make Skyrim so amazing for mods. Firstly, it has very open gameplay (different gameplay styles, races, factions, mute protaganist etc.), which Witcher 3 doesn't. (Maybe Cyberpunk 2077 will encourage more modding)?
Secondly, I adore Bethesda games (500+ hours in Skyrim), but the truth is that Bethesda aren't actually very good at anything. Their games are great because Bethesda concentrates on quantity....then modders come in and supply the quality.
Almost every single element of vanilla Skyrim (graphics, combat, stealth, narrative, sound, etc.) is notably worse than in other games. Yet almost all of it is top-notch a year later once modders get their hands on it.
I think Bethesda's 'jack of all trades, master of none' style really encourages a robust modding community in the first place.

MotionSicknessFocusMode=true (in Steam\steamapps\common\The Witcher 3\bin\config\base) works great to fix the Witcher Sense broken blur in 3D.
But there's another problem that I'm surprised no one seems to have mentioned before (maybe it was introduced with 1.11?). It's the grey radiating circles that show you enemy locations during Witcher Sense. They seem to be locked to maximum separation at all times, regardless of HUD setting. It looks very broken and uncomfortable on the eyes
Is this a known issue?
I personally find those radiating circles a bit immersion breaking anyway - I think it would be much cooler to have to rely only on your heightened hearing to find distant enemies in Witcher Sense mode. So I'd be happy to just find the shader and disable it altogether. Could someone please remind me how to disable a shader? I haven't used 3dmigoto for a while.
Also, does anyone know whether this shader is tied to any other elements, or will disabling it be ok?
EDIT: I found a setting called EnemyFocusModule= in hud.ini, but setting it to false didn't remove the circles

Last I played the game, the reticles in Witcher Sense mode where OK. All it was needed was a convergence change due to the FOV change...
Hmm, now I see a new patch is out...crap..maybe it got broken? Need to check tomorrow...

@Volnaiskra
I quickly tested the new patch and nothing is broken. Not even the reticles in Witcher Sense Mode. It is in 3D but as the HUD is at a fixed location, like before.
Out of curiosity what depth value are you using in 3D Vision? I am using 65% and I find it good enough. Not at correct depth but definitely doesn't create any "focusing" problems.

Volnaiskra - thanks for the tip. Setting this MotionSicknessFocusMode=true makes a lot of difference. I was also annoyed by that effect.
If you like you can switch HUD completely off and turn it back on just by using "HOME" button or you can set it yourself to one of the mouse buttons (like I have - the middle one) and play with it every time you need. You have to be careful thou and turn it back on every time before animation or conversation to get the dialog`s choices (they are not seen if you switch that "off" and you can`t turn it back "on" until conversation is over).

Helifax - if you still interested in fixing other part of this game then you might take a look at this mentioned by me before but never fixed element. I think even Helix was talking about it with me when we had that in other game and also DarkStarSword had this in Far Cry 4.
Well never been fixed. It is double road surface. Take a look on the screenshots.
Edit: I have max separation so I`m guessing it`s more visible then at yours. It is not every road as well so you have to look for it (I got map location with it - if you want to take a look).

@helifax: I was using about 95% depth. But I tried 60%, and it's almost as bad. I don't know why our experiences are so different (monitor size, eye span, sitting distance?), but I find Witcher Sense mode (and hence the game itself) virtually unplayable because of these reticles.
I just measured them, and they are about 8-9cm apart, which is of course wider than my eye span, which explains why I can't focus on them. When they get close to the edges of the screen, they get even wider apart due to the fisheye effect. I did these measurements in 95% depth mode, but 60% isn't much better.
Is it possible to make the reticles linked to the depth of all the other HUD elements? At the moment, pressing ~ doesn't affect them.
Alternatively, could you please tell me how I can disable the reticles?

Certainly in cm mode is not a good experience as it could be in real 3d.
No. Not until nvidia actually fix their drivers and align them with the Win7/8 version.

Is there any hope to make the fix able for w10? or not yet?...
Certainly in cm mode is not a good experience as it could be in real 3d.
No. Not until nvidia actually fix their drivers and align them with the Win7/8 version.
