Acer X1130P with driver CD 1.23, Please help Resolution warning, 3D inverted, misdetection of displa
Hi, I would like assistance with the following issues.

I own an Acer X1130P projector and 3D Vision.
I installed the new 1.23 driver CD so I can run PowerDVD 10 in 3D mode.
This causes the following result:

1) PowerDVD 10 and all other applications work in 3D mode. So no problem there, but...

2) Driver constantly complains, no matter which application I run (e.g. "Test stereoscopic 3D" application),
that I must switch to an allowed stereo 3D resolution, I use 1024x768x32x120Hz.
The red warning message is omnipresent no matter what, contrary to previous driver versions.

3) Glasses must now be worn upside down as 3D has now become inverted, contrary to previous driver versions.

4) Wizard recognizes my projector as a 3D Ready device, however Control Panel states that my display is not
3D Ready certified even though there is a 3D Ready logo next to the display name (small problem, but still confusing)
This issue has always been there no matter the version of the driver, at least with the driver CD:s (five or so) that
I have tested.

Please help.

Hi, I also have the X1130P

1) Be sure that you have the new 3D Ready Version of the X1130P (Sticker on the Box).

2) There is a bug in the drivers since CD 1.21 or 1.20. You have to deinstall the new drivers and install an older version (1.19 or 1.17). The support (Andrew) already knows about this problem and hopefully, it will be fixed in the next driver revision.

3) The 3D conversion with Power DVD works only with Windows 7, not with Vista

Thanks for your reply.

Yes, there is a 3D Ready sticker on the box and if I use the 1.23 driver CD
then PowerDVD 10 converts DVD to 3D (I have 7 Home Premium 64-bit).

The 3D is quite nice except for the two things that bother me, that is
the display mode nag and the inverted 3D that forces me to wear my glasses upside down.

If I use the 1.17 or 1.19 drivers then there is no display mode nag and no inverted
3D, the problem is that I can enable Nvidia 3D Vision in PowerDVD like I can
with the 1.23 CD, however, the strange thing is that *absolutely nothing happens*,
it does not go into 3D mode and does not even comment on that fact.

So either I use the old drivers which don't seem to work with specifically PowerDVD
(but work with all other applications) or I use the new drivers that work with PowerDVD
and all other applications but instead gives me the display mode nag and inverted 3D.

I really don't know what else to do but to use the 1.23 CD and try to ignore that I
am wearing my glasses upside down and have a red angry message coming at me,
because everything else works apart from those annoyances.
Thanks for your reply.

There isn't much we can do now. Be patient for the next driver release or install an older version.

PowerDVD 3d will only works with 1.20 driver!!! with 1.23 it will not work properly... and projector only works with 1.19... nvidia must solve PowerDVD compatibility and 1130P in next driver release I hope.

Yes, patience seems to be key in this case.

The whole thing is kind of silly though, if there was
a toggle parameter to disable the warning message
so it won't appear in the first place and an option
in 3D setup wizard to invert 3D on a driver level,
this would be more or less a non-issue?

Anyway, nothing to do but wait.

If an NVidia would let us setup the sync ourself, about two thirds of problems posted in this forum would disapear (detection, not supported monitors, ghosting, CRT sync, samsung DLPs, sync with long cables, wrong red warnings, left and right inverted and the list is going on and on). I am very active reading on this board and i can't imagine why Nvidia is so persistent about their current, total locked, system. Just a slider for time delay, a button for left and right change and another slider for overlap (both closed while screen is changing). Thats it, nothing more than this three parameters, and the whole, way too complex and error-prone current system would work if the user can override it, if somethink doesn't work. Maybe Nvidia is too scared, that people would use 3D Vision with non certified Monitors and they loose their "3D Premium charge", like if people would bring their own glasses into the cinema (that would be also great for finance and hygenic reasons). But i think thats turning up against them. If someone is on the decision to buy 3D vision and looks up in this forum for information he would be scared away very fast.

Lets hope Nvidia can solve a lot of this problems or changes their strategy and let the users change parameters. Nvidia also won't have the monopol a lot longer. I think there is a reason why "the red company" calls their 3D System "Open" in the title. They know exactly whats going on here.

Yes, that would eliminate a lot of headaches for both the end-user and the engineers.

The situation is such that nvidia cannot possibly soon keep track of all the 3D-Ready displays
out there and add internal parameters for each, much better to let the users have the control.

I mean, when even an officially supported product such as the X1130P is not supported properly,
something has to be done, and that something is to give up the closed system policy.

I thought my purchase of the projector and 3D Vision was a sure bet, since the projector
was explicitly officially supported, you can surely relate to my disappointment.
After all, I have forked out some $700 for the setup so I expect to get my money's worth.

In other words, I utterly second your opinions, AntimaterieX!

I've Samsung 2233RZ and Acer X1130P... both NVIDIA 3D Vision Certified... I'm absolutely agree MycelSpawn. nVidia must support with priority products listed on 3d vision site.
