Path of Exile:Betrayal
  1 / 2
So today this came out of beta, and the game is now a 10 act long single play-through to end game with no difficulty levels, and as always practically completely free to play.. hell maybe it's the only actual FTP game. Unfortunately they have also broken it's previous near perfect 3dvision support. There is a new water renderer which is completely broken with a few other things. ironically some of the more complicated water effects are perfectly fine. I have attached my work in progress in case anyone want's it. (rename to .rar and extract the the directory with the path of exile.exe) This removes the new broken water entirely until I can work out how to fix it as it doesn't really effect game-play due to the effect actually being used pretty sparsely. as well as adding some depth to various elements. Press ] key on startup to set separation and convergence to what I feel is best for this game, maybe hotkeys later. Hopefully I will find some solution for the water but may need to get some help if it goes no where. Note this may only work on windows 7 with the dx11 64x version of the game. Sorry I have tried everything suggested, including playing with the hooking options, compatibility mode and different versions of 3dmigoto. and the game refuses to start in windows 10 with a generic crash before the splash screen. (apparently log file doesn't do much to indicate why) In windows 7 it's fine. Would be interested if anyone on windows 10 gets it too work. PLEASE DO NOT contact developer regarding this fix as I have spoken to the Lead dev, and he explicitly states "generally" no modification is allowed, and 3dvision is not officially supported. Although this only improves the game for 3dvision and does not effect gameplay or the security of the client in anyway it's hard to get them to understand it's helping them sometimes. Updated fix to resolve issues with new tutorial. By the way if you haven't tried the game, this seems very fleshed out so far, best time to would be now. I would consider it content complete at this point. As far as I am concerned, this is the Dark souls of Action RPG's. Only issue's remaining are a couple of water effects and Windows 10 hooking problem.

Thanks for the fix, I always thought this game to be the best looking 3d game imo. And when I got my 4k tv and tried it, my jaw hit the floor. However I havent been able to bring myself to properly play the game since around 2012 I think. I got to a higher lvl and found my character build was useless lol. I need some friends to play it with now.

I personally just play solo all the time. You don't really need a group. (there is even solo leagues now) the game is complicated though so you are almost expected to fuck up your first few characters. But as long as you keep a few things in mind you can get through the game. * Make sure you have at least 50% in all resistances (aim for 75%) except for Chaos * grab a secondary defense, I like block. * Make sure you have 1k health before hitting Act 4, go for at least 3k by the end of the campaign. * Prioritise defenses on the passive tree, do not specialise into weapon types, that can come later * choose a type of damage and stick with it and take a quick look at the skill gems you use and how the damage scales, and what the best supports are That should be enough with the new tutorial information to get you a pretty successful build. Are you using windows 7?

Yep, theres some much more complicated and more impressive water effects later on that work absolutely fine as well. Any water in a cavern seems effected though. Okay, well this at least is somewhat of a confirmation it's not just a problem with my windows 10. Works fine in 7, and at one point many drivers ago I did have it working in 10 with 3dmigoto, unsure when it stopped working and if it's a nvidia driver issue (they are separate branches now) or a windows one. So unfortunately unless someone of the likes of DSS or b03b can come to our rescue and work out why with the wrapper it crashes in 10 unfortunately this may remain a windows 7 fix only.

This game is simply incredible. I had already tested it a first time but not having taken the time to understand or learn to play, I moved on fast enough. In recent days seeing this past post on this forum, I wanted to test it again (it would be only to see if the fix worked correctly). After several hours of play and several hours on this site: https://pathofexile-fr.gamepedia.com/Path_of_Exile_Wiki I begin to realize that this game is a rare gem. As far as the quality / price ratio, I have seen nothing better (in this style of game of course). The craft system is hyper powerful and very well framed. The possibilities seem infinite (at first sight), the game is pretty, the fix 3d is very good. The craft system is of a complexity ... One can regulate its character with such precision in the stats. Frankly, for the fans of diablo, this game is a must have, do not spend next to this little gem. The developers are crazy The day when a Skyrim style rpg would come out with this system of craft and all this background integrated in this game, it would not be the game of the year but it would be the game of the century :) I am only level 20, I have not seen much, I have not even dropped a single object that I conquered and I can not stop. It was a long time since I was not as attracted by a game. And I still have a lot of things to understand ... Thank you @necropants, you insure !

effectively :) These videos helped me a lot too. Sorry it s in french but there are the subtitles (On the other hand, it does not pronounce everything correctly for automatic translation, subtitles are not always faithful to what it says;)) I stopped in chapter 6 of these videos not to spoiler too much: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=orI_UQPsVoc Which has no connection with the chapters of the game. Video chapter 6 ==> start of act 2 of the game

So I gave it a quick shot - first impression it's Diablo 2 with a 3d renderer. 3d works fine on win 7 with a passive display, only if the game is in full screen mode. Is there any way to set the HUD to screen depth?

I don't know if anyone is working on it. But for now, I have seen nothing more than what necroplant offers.

I kept trying to ask the devs for a fix in this thread https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/1937897 but after weeks of bumping they just ignored it with a random user finally replying that "3d isn't a supported feature". Such a shame if this game doesn't get a proper fix, it was always my fallback game as it can keep you playing for years to come.
If I can get the game to a point for a real 3D fix release (and get it working in 10) I will look at adding adjustable depth hotkey to the HUD. Personally I think it's perfect as it is providing you use my convergence/depth preset or make sure the mouse cursor is aligned just above your character. I am currently playing through the game, I just reached act 9, and fixed another couple of broken effects. The new water is really horrible and I haven't had much luck fixing it yet. worse thing is it actually appears to be tied to the HUD. If I can't find a solution I'll put the shaders in the Shader hacking school thread and see if anyone has some ideas, but I feel since the rest of the game is still pretty much perfect (there is a couple of more small issues) they are doing something funny with this new renderer. With Masterotoku's help I have been able to manipulate it but haven't got it to align in the correct world space. What really boggles the mind is the water effect they added in act four release not only looks better is perfect in 3d vision. there's also a bloodwater effect in act 9 that still looks amazing, and to top it off the boss fight with the brine kind which features very complicated water effects in comparision is rendered perfectly and is mind blowing. Payne-Tk, I will find some time to comment on your thread on the official forums. I have actually personally spoken to the lead developer in the past about how amazing this game is in 3d vision and he told me the perfect support in the past was a happy accident and that "I guess we just programmed it in the right way" So I guess now they are doing it . "the wrong way." I also have logged a few threads of my own about this. I am just waiting for their release to die down for console and china and then I will see if i can contact the lead dev again. I am sure I'll get drowned out at this moment. Also ignore the trolls, that guys statement is not helpful and I will be sure to chime in on your thread. If any of you can put your voices to that thread it would be appreciated. GGG are a great developer and they do typically listen. They are also currently hiring and are fellow countrymen of mine, and I was thinking of applying but I live on the other side of the island. =x
