Just Cause 2 drivers test gtx 480 sli 197.41 vs cd 1.27
well guys am doing the desert benchmark with 3d enabled blur off and AA off and AF 16x everything else on the highest settings at 1920x1080
in the Nvidia control panel i selected use my preference=Performance
480gtx sli
197.41= 53.24 FPS
1.27= 42.32
with sli disabled and dedicate the other 480 for physx =42.59 with 1.27 cd drivers, haven't tested this on the 197.41's
Both gpu usage max was at GPU#1=60 and GPU#2=62
max temps was GPU#1=53c and GPU#2=56c
LOL so sli dont help in 3d?
my rig is my signature so you can know what i have .
I have a gtx295, and since upgrading to cd 1.27 I am getting much less fps in JC2 than I was. I haven't run any benchmarks to confirm this, but it's noticeable enough to conclude without such tests.

or should i just buy a physx card and run it with my sli setup? btw what driver version are you using?

Just search the forum for MGPU solutions with more than 2 GPUs and you'll have you're answer. /rofl.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':rofl:' />
To cut it short: anything more than two GPUs wuth 3D Vision is a complete waste of money. I had 3 GTx280s, and now switched to 2 GTX480s; not even tempted by three, in most cases it even runs slower and most definitely never faster.
In a couple of days we should have the WHQL 257.xx and at the end of June the 3D Vision surround R256, let's see what they can do about 3D peformance till then.

you know the reason why people don't see a difference with a 3rd 480 is becuase they are CPU bottlnecked. I see so many people with 480's running stock i7 920's/930's or even Core 2 quads.

Don't buy the 3rd 400 series yet. DJNOOB is correct that there is a bottleneck. However, you will see more FPS in 2D mode in 3-way SLI compared to regular SLI. The gain from 1 card to 2 is almost 100%, but the gains from 2 cards to 3 is much less. That is because the CPU cannot handle that much information.
The current issue with 3-way SLI and 3D vision is that the 3rd card is not being utilized at all. The 3D vision and 3-way SLI issue has nothing to do with bottlenecks but with 3D vision itself not being able to handle 3 GPU's. Think about it this way, If while using 3D vision one GPU is assigned to handle the visuals for the left and one GPU is assigned to handle the visuals for the right eye what does the 3rd GPU do? Nothing, but get in the way as it stands now.
I hope they are able to fix the problem but I doubt they can. Either way I don't care. If they can't fix it then I will just build a lesser machine with 1 GTX 480 for the living room and leave it at that. Gaming without 3D vision is not an option.

Honestly I think one of reasons for the delay with the 3D vision surround is this exact issue. They know that doing 3 monitors in 3D is going to take all the horse power you can get. Having it not work for 3-way would be really bad.

Totally agree. They can't expect 3D Vision at 1080p to span across 3 monitors and expect people to be happy playing their games with medium or lower settings just to be able to have the game run smoothly. Can you imagine trying to play Metro 2033 at max settings on 3 monitors + 3D vision with only 2 cards? Not going to be very smooth. I really hope they fix 3-way SLI so I can enjoy gaming in perfect 3D on 1 monitor.
