Nvidia I am sorry. You have let me down. I was at Pax East and I saw the 3D monitor. I was in the crowds when new graphics properties were being displayed. I bought the Nvidia 3d vision glasses and NOW I BRING THE HELL FIRE UPON THESE VIDEO GAMES BECAUSE THAT IS ALL THE CONTENT AVAILABLE. ARE YOU SH*** ME RIGHT NOW NVIDIA. NO MOVIES. NO VIDEOS NVIDIA. I DONT CARE ABOUT PICTURES, BUT YOU LITERALLY SPUN A LOGO IN FRONT OF MY FACE AND EFFECTS LIKE THAT CAN'T BE ENJOYED IN A MUSIC VISUALIZER. THE ONLY WAY TO EXPERIENCE REAL 3D EFFECTS IS IN YOUR ONE. LET ME REPEAT. ONE SINGLE TEST PROGRAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ALL THERE IS ARE GAMES, AND THERE ARE NONE WHERE YOU DONT HAVE TO SHIFT THE CAMERAS PERSPECTIVE. THERE IS NOTHING STEADY. THERE IS NOTHING LIKE THE TEST PROGRAM....

Just contacted support AGAIN, reinstalled silverlight again, switched to a new browser.... Thats all dumb anyways, there should at least be one piece of software with something that I can WATCH, OTHER THAN THE TEST PROGRAM. ABSOLUTELY EMBARRASSING...

TL:DR
You're right. 3D is a pain in the butt.
3D content exists, but you have to look for it.
Nvidia doesn't care about you, 3D, or your post.
The 3D Community here is the absolute best. I don't have words good enough to describe them.
You CAN watch 3D Youtube in 3D.
I can't speak for everyone, but I've definitely felt the emotions that your post captures. The support is abysmal/non existent. Everything content-wise requires a trick or hack of some sort. It's not served to you on a glorious golden platter (as it should be). If it had been, I think it would have been more accessible to your average consumer.
With that said, there IS content. There IS enjoyment to be had. A lot of it in fact. Fortunately, you posted in one of the best places possible. This forum is full of individuals that share a passion for 3D. Some of them invest a staggering amount of time into making it more accessible to the rest of us. They're the reason 3D still exists, in my book.
In order to get started, you have to first know what you want. Then you can begin your search.
You mentioned watching videos. There was a short time that 3D worked natively for watching Youtube, but that time has passed. There were still ways, but they were a pain. However, I just recently came across a series of steps/tools that allow for simple streaming into the Nvidia 3D Video Player app. If you can copy/paste a link, you're good. Instructions can be found here:
https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/861240/script-to-watch-youtube-and-other-3d-streams-in-3dvision-player-without-dl-them-first/
I'm not sure about visualizers, but I imagine there has to be something.
I hope you decide to stick around. :)

Related to gameplay, Thing is that smooth gameplay = healthy gameplay, and it is a fact that Nvidia does nothing to let us play smooth 3D games. Instead of boosting the 3D tech through the driver they put a stick on the wheel creating a stupid bottleneck in both GPU and CPU, and the result is that 3D gameplay is unbearable in many situations, if you compare with smoothness when playing 2D (specially if you own a g-sync monitor).
To me it is only worth playing (healthy for my eyes and my brain) a game if I can obtain 60x2 stable framerate, and that is very rare to happen if not playing and old game or lowering a lot resolution/details.
Community can fix shaders etc, but not that problem. Nvidia should invest some effort to solve the bottleneck problem, and making 3D Vision compatible with g-sync. G-sync is specially useful when playing a game with inestable framerate oscillating between 30-60 fps, and that is specially the case of nvidia 3D Vision games in most situations.

Nvidia doesn't make games, nor movie nor any kind of media content. So why blaming Nvidia?
They bring the tech, drivers and hardware supporting 3D. That's their job.
About the lack of stereo 3D content, blame games studios, or video makers. And above all, blame people ignorance and prejudice about 3D gaming.
NVidia still supports 3D with CM profiles. CM mode was designed so game company's wouldn't say you are altering are code I'm not a fan of it but it works and it's still supported.

Have to agree with Laast on this one. I mean Nvidia don't make it any easier and they did a poor job of pushing and marketing the tech and by now it should be open source, but it's not their fault the developers/content creators choose not to utilize it.
I feel for gaming you are in a lot better position than just visual content only, unfortunately. But sorry I don't count CM mode as 3dvision support at all especially since you can achieve this via other means, and from what I hear better to boot....

Tried to install English version and it started installation Chinese, try to cancel it in first step (clicked the button on the right) after seeing Chinese but it opened other installation windows (this ones are in English) everytime I clicked cancel on the newer window. I had to kill two exes of it from task manager to stop installation.
Almost gave me a miniature heart attack lol. I don't care if it's the best capable player, it looks shady as hell. Even if it's clean, I suspect that it will hook itself to windows so hard that uninstallation will be pain in the ass.

But NVidia was the first with CM mode and others followed and yes there are better options now. NVidia released CM mode when Helix released his first and only DX11 game Bioshock Infinite. 3Dmigoto was very early in development and at this time 3D was taking a downfall. NVidia could have done more but they did more then most.

I still believe that it was the not compatibility confusion between active and passive/nvidia and AMD that killed 3d for PC gaming. I fear the same thing will happen with VR between occulus and vive.
I don't think it ever would have lasted in the loungeroom, because families just don't sit around at home with glasses on like they do in the cinema - most just have a TV, not a home cinema and view it as such.
But gaming is a different thing - it's generally individual and the worlds are mostly rendered in with 3 dimensional graphics - so 3d gaming is just more immersive and, if it wasn't for competition and confusion, should have taken off. If the options we have now, 3d vision on a passive screen with EDID overrides, over 600 Helix mod titles and over 1000 Tridef titles were available back when, more and more users would have adopted. There should have been compatible choice, rather than exclusive competition, from the start.
