3DTV Play & Philips TV
Hello, First of all, sorry for my english. I've got a 3D TV, the philips 40PFL7007H/12, and my laptop has got a 630M geforce (320.49 driver). I would like to play 3d games on my TV, and i've tried to use 3DTV PLAY, using a HDMI 1.4 cable. First of all, during the setup of the 14 days trial version, my TV is not recognized. On this page there was a link to submit a TV request, but the link is dead : http://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/2774/ After the setup (and have choosen "try for 14 days" on the activation screen), there's absolutely no trace of the program, in the taskbar or in the notifications zone. The program C:\Program Files (x86)\NVIDIA Corporation\3DTV only contain the activation file and a dll, is it normal ? Also, my nvidia control panel does not provide any mention of a way to activate a 3D effect. Have you got any ideas ? Thanks

Have you tried reading the user guide on how to set it up? http://www.nvidia.com/object/IO-98478.html I believe it will help you solve the problem. As for the TV I don't know if it is in the supported list or not, but last I checked there were a few Philips TVs in the list:) The link does work for the submission.. I just checked it out. You just need to click on "Submit issue/Feedback" and use an account to log in. But 1st check the documentation

Are you using Windows Vista? If so stereoscopic support was dropped for that OS with driver 313. 3DTV Play and 3D Vision are incorporated together in the driver. The trial only activates it, so you will not see a trace so to say.

If your problem isn't due to using Vista..... http://3dvision-blog.com/5532-nvidia-optimus-technology-and-3d-vision-dont-go-well-together/ Bloody // Jul 6, 2011 at 23:02 As I’ve mentioned in the article above having Optimus technology and trying to get the laptop to work in stereo 3D mode with external 3D-capable display device can be troublesome. Depending on where your VGA/HDMI ports are attached to – the integrated Intel or the discrete Nvidia GPU you may not or may be able to make the 3D work. This is due to the way the Optimus technology works and there is nothing you can do if the VGA/HDMI output is attached to the integrated Intel GPU and not to the discrete graphics chip from Nvidia… I repeat THERE IS NOTHING YOU CAN DO. So choose carefully if you are going for an Optimus-based laptop that you might need to be connected to a 3D HDTV or a 3D Projector. - See more at: http://3dvision-blog.com/5532-nvidia-optimus-technology-and-3d-vision-dont-go-well-together/#sthash.QY5id7M4.dpuf

I had 0 issues in enabling 3D Vision on the laptop. Optimus just selects between 2 chips. The nvidia setting are for the nvidia chip ONLY (optimus plays no importance here) The only problem that one could face is to what chip are the port actually attached. I'm just qouting his article, I didn't come up with the Title for it. But you're right Optimus is not to blame. He should have named the article "Integrated Graphics and 3D Vision Do Not Always Go Well Together"

Thanx a lot for all your answers :) I'll look at everything and come back. To be more precise, my notebook is a Dell L521X (XPS15) under Win7 64. I've checked and yes, it use Optimus, but i haven't found yet the answer about the HDMI output. @helifax : you are right, the submission form is ok, sorry !

Although I doubt they will be able to help you more. From what I know the XPS is considered a gaming laptop. BTW, did you install 3D Vision component during the driver installation? 3DTVPlay requires that driver.

Hello, After further investigation and a contact with the nvidia support for my television, i can confirm that my laptop can't support 3DTV Play due to the multiple graphic cards problem : my hdmi is on the Intel graphic card. Here is the full response from nvidia : This device should already be supported in our latest drivers. Are you having problem with driver recognizing the display or simply like to request this model be listed on our support list? There is no need to submit request for certain models to be included in our support list moving forward. Our latest drivers (313.xx and above) has the capability to auto detect most 3D capable HDTV and allow for 3DTV Play. The support list will eventually be removed now that our drivers can auto detect support. You can download the latest drivers here: http://www.geforce.com/drivers. If you are having problem with the latest drivers recognizing the display then make certain the TV is set as the primary display if running multiple monitors. Our drivers will not detect the TV if its set as the secondary when running in multiple monitors configuration. If you have a laptop with Optimus support (switchable graphics), make sure the HDMI output is being driven by the NVIDIA graphics and not by the Intel onboard graphics. Go into NVIDIA Control Panel > PhysX tab and it should list which GPU the HDMI output is connected to. If the HDMI output is connected to Intel graphics then I'm afraid 3DTV Play will not work. Let me know if you have any further questions. By the way, i have been able to experience 3D with TriDef 3D. I had to downgrade a bit my game configuration to get something that run smoothly, the result is OK but a bit unstable. What i don't understand is that it seems that my game is still rendered with the geforce... Maybe is it a "fake 3D", like these 2D -> 3D modes built-in in TV...

That should normally be hooked to the nVidia GPU! Then with an adapter from DP to HDMI you could activate 3DTVPlay from there... Hope it helps and thank you for giving us the reply from nVidia.
