There are no games with built-in ghosting :). Sometimes 3dvision profiles lock convergence, which leads to more ghosting, but this is not the game developer's fault. If it wasn't for the display's cons there wouldn't be any ghosting. If you want no ghosting whatsoever I would suggest an HMD. The you have two separate displays, one for each eye and you don't get any ghosting, no matter the settings.

With DLP you get no ghosting no matter the settings, and with HMD you get an angle to puke without eye & head tracking. FYI.

Also they don't use low spec LCD for serious HMD but CRT. FYI.

But there are games that use post effects that can be misinterpreted as "ghosting". An example is "mirror's edge". Many user thought that the ghosting in this game is the result of the high contrasts between the buildings and the sky. But it is the result of a post effect. So in contrary to real ghosting increasing the contrast is the best method to reduce the disurbing effects in "mirror's edge".
Maybe the "ghosting" observed in Alice is the halo effect caused by steam and fog I observed when I tried the latest drivers (see above).

No! A Nvidia developer explained that it is the decision of the game developers to activate that option within their games. If it was the fault of the profile then renaming the game's exe-file and so activating another profile would solve the problem. But I never observed that a convergence lock could be removed this way. To unlock the convergence I use the iZ3D driver or the hack with stopping and restarting the NVIDIA Stereoscopic 3D Driver Service (as mentioned here: http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=200281&st=280 ). This hack works e.g. with F1 2010.

One of the best 3d vision games i've played for a while now. Its a good title to show friends to "wow" them. Even surround works fine with flawlessws.exe.

Apart from the crosshair its perfect, luckely i only use the crosshair for snout hunting so its a minor issue. And there is no software ghosting! Ghosting comes from the hardware used. I use an dlp beamer so no issues here... Shadows etc are perfect.

Agreed on on all accounts, post-processing can sometimes cause "ghosting", but not in the commonly-known ghosting, which is caused by the display itself. I was referring to hardware ghosting, as there is no software ghosting in Alice.
On the question of locking I also use the hack or iz3d. This method is not always the best solution and a perfect example is Mafia 2 - do the process hack and you get screwed up shadows even at the default convergence setting, or choose to suffer from ghosting in many scenes due to the locked convergence. I don't know who's fault the locking is, but for me it is like cheating, locking down convergence and calling a game 3dvision ready, only to have screwed up stereo when you unlock the convergence.
As for mirror's edge, I found the game to have buggy shadows with 3dvision (not the dynamic ones, but maybe AO ones, don't know), so I use iz3d.

Thanks for the information! I didn't try my iZ3D-3DVision combination with this game yet. Unfortunately in most cases the iZ3D-driver has the same issues with shadows as the Nvidia-driver (e.g. in The Witcher 2). But it often solves issues with haloes caused by water surfaces or fog or issues caused by bloom or blur effects.
A convergence lock that is extremely annoying to me comes with Google Earth. It is locked on a level that only is usefull when zooming in extremely close. So close that I would never do it because of the pixelated textures. If You zoom out You get a lot of ghosting and have almost no depth. The locked convergence makes 3DVision completely useless for Google Earth. But I'm getting too much off topic...

Hey guys just an FYI this game is currently $12 on Origin (use ORIGIN60 in the Origin client) or $15 on Steam. Crysis 2 is also a cool $16.

Definitely a showcase title, I missed all the buzz on this game, but gf was really interested in it so I picked it up tonite. Amazing in 3D Vision though, as most of you have already seen, for those who also missed out on this before its definitely worth a buy. Also seems like they've fixed some of the earlier problems with 3D Vision, PhysX and shadows. Only minor issues I've had here are 2D text and contextual hints, and pepper grinder crosshair and enemy glyph icon can be wrong depth too depending on your depth/convergence settings.

Yes crosshairs, enemy icons, text, subtitles, menus are still 2D at screen depth but its not as bad as some games I've played. The crosshairs and enemy icons really aren't a big deal, only when you use the pepper grinder (gatling gun type weapon), and even then if you set convergence so that the crosshair is in front of Alice, it usually lines up fine while giving a really nice pop-out/toyification effect. Overall though the visuals in 3D are stunning, my gf has not been easily impressed by games in 3D and she was totally immersed in the game last night.

Big thing is to make sure to remove the 31FPS cap by changing a few settings in alice.ini. Just google it for the fix. The SPH/fluid PhysX effects REALLY bog things down in this game sometimes, and overall there are some cool GPU PhysX effects. Certainly a showcase title for 3D Vision along with some pretty hefty PhysX thrown in. As far as I can tell though all the earlier problems mentioned in this thread in 3D Vision have been fixed (just the last few 2D assets mentioned); the reflections on some of the fluid looks a little bit off but they're all self-contained to the correct objects and in 3D.

For $12-15 I wouldn't hesitate to pick it up. :)

Yes, this game looks great in S3D. The 2D crosshairs (normally a deal breaker for me) are ummm, no big deal and thanks for the heads up for the ini tweaks! I read somewhere about setting the PhysX to medium to fix the fluid wassname. It works.

Toyification looks awesome and is just right for this game :)

This game is so amazing in 3D at 60fps. New level of amazing. chapter 2 (underwater) is very impressive. Just started Chapter 3 and it is "jaw-dropping" amazing.

Not only does this game look better in 3D, it also plays better in 3D becuase it's easier to judge jumping/flying distance.
The surreal fantasy art/visual style is outstanding (possibly best ever in a PC game). It's very immersive and a refreshing change from reality games.

Edit: The pepper grinder is a fps killer, even with PhysX on medium. Why is smoke emitted from a pepper grinder?
pepper dust seems more appropriate.
