Will new Optoma GT750E 720p 3D Projector work with 3D Vision?
2 / 2
Things that make you go "HUH", this thread Title states working with 3D Vision. Do you hava a clue what Nvidia "3D Vision" is? It's a 3D videogaming middleware. Nvidia 3D Vision has nothing to do with using a HDMI 1.4 device (cable TV, PS3, 3D BD player) The only relation between 3D Blu-ray playback and Nvidia 3D Vision is in the fact that if you want to use the Nvidia glasses to watch with.
To Quote you "As long as your Nvidia card (which all of them can with the latest drivers) can display 1280 x 720 @ 120hz, you'll be able to use the Nvidia 3D Vision."
This is wrong also, the Nvidia driver checks that the GPU and Display are on the requirement list, and if they are not will engage Nvidia 3D Vision without a workaround.
And your mention of your workaround is a sure way to get you banned or your post edited/deleted.

I know this is an older thread, but just found it. I have two GT720s. They work w/ 3D Vision but I needed to hack the driver to use an .inf from the Acer 3D Vision projector (officially supported, as the Optoma was also supposedly would be. Anyway, I was considering getting a 750 for the center projector (doing 3D Vision Surround) but was hoping the same inf trick would work if it doesn't out of the box.
I believe the issue is HDMI 1.4. I read that for Mits RP DLP sets, the older ones were 1.3 and worked fine (mine did) w/ 3D Vision, but the 2010/11 models are HDMI 1.4 so this automatically trips the Nviida software into using only 3DTV Play. Now people were bugged about this w/ the Mits since it is a 1080p set (can do checkerboard 1080p on the older HDMI 1.3/full 3D Vision models) and 3DTV Play only supports 720p/60 mode (and 24 fps modes for bluray)
BUT, my question is for these projectors, what's wrong w/ using 3DTV Play if you're doing single screen? They are 720p projectors anyway, so this is the native resolution regardless. The only downside I can see is in my situation where I want triple screen, as for some reason while three 3D Vision displays are supported, three 3DTV play HDMI 1.4 sources are not by 3D Vision Surround. So I'm hoping in my case, if I use the EDID .inf trick to fool my PC into thinking it's yet another Acer, it will work. Then this model has two HDMI inputs (unlike the older GT720s), so 2nd input can be connected to a PS3 or 360 for HDMI 1.4 3D without a converter. At least, that's what I hope. Local Best Buy has the GT750 so if it's returnable w/o restock, I'll pick one up and try it and report back....

Mike Mav, trying to do something very similar.. I just bought 3 gt750's hoping 3d vision surround would work but it does not as the 3dtvplay keeps kicking in.. Im trying to find how to use this h5360 edid hack, but I cant find a detailed discription of how to use the file.. If you tell me how to use this hack ill let you know if it works with the gt750's...
another thought I had was to use the gt720 edid file to overide the gt750's but if your gt720 does not work I guess that would be pointless.. Why do your 720's not work? I thought these were fully compatible with 3d vision surround. Im curious as I was going to send back the gt750's and get 720's instead..

Yes lack of a zoom could be a problem, nice catch.
The HD66 may have better features than the the 750E model, but that is subjective. The 750E is HDMI 1.4 compliant, so there is no need for a 3D converter such as the Optoma 3D-XL
The HD 750 is a short throw. I have both 750 and 66. The 750 contrast is not as good as the hd66 if you know what your looking for but for a quick game set up using the ACer inf file the 750 works 100% with Nvidia 3d. I am using it in my flight simulator At 6ft from the screen I have a 7ft wide screen. You cannot get that with the HD66.

If you have the acer inf file , or if you dont here is the link .(http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=170040) copy it to your desktop, open device manager ( window key + pause/break)
go to monitor-right click update driver- browse my computer - let me pick from the list ,find it on your desk top and thats it . you should then be able to select the Acer 5360 in the nvidia 3d box.

I use an acer 5360. And tried 4 different types of 3d glasses including 3d vision.. Optoma's zd101 is my pick if you have a high gain screen to counter darker image. Nvidia's are kind of cheaply made. Their is ghosting with it even when using a dlp projector(wtf?). I tried two different pairs of 3d vision and both had similiar but diff results.

The 750 has no manual zoom on it. This makes it near immpossible to get setup in a fixed enviorment for gaming.

I assume DannyR means ceiling mounting when he refers to a fixed environment. Just for the record, I have played many games in the last 5 months since I mounted mine on the ceiling.
