Recently I bought a Samsung monitor 2233rz and the 3D Vision glasses. I Love the technology and was amazed with it’s realism and depth.
The 3D vision glasses worked right out of the box and I was able to understand how the 3D effects worked. I also read that I should charge the battery for at least 3 hours prior to use it for the first time.
I left it charging for like 4 hours and when I got home the glasses would not function anymore without the USB cable. I would press the glasses button and no light would flash with the USB cable disconnected. If I connected the USB cable again the led light next to the USB port would amber orange like if it was charging. But the light on the top of the glasses would flash rapidly red + green + green or only orange very fast, these lights would alternate if I pressed the on button. This issue seemed to me as a battery issue, cause the glasses would function normally with the USB connected, the 3D effects would work flawlessy. So I guess if the glasses work just fine with the USB cable powering it on and if It doesn’t work unplugged (wireless) even after 3 hours “chargingâ€, I guess it means the battery doesn’t charge anymore.
So, what I did was to send the glasses back to the online store I bought it and ask for new ones. Ok, I did that and after 5 days waiting I received another brand new 3D vision glasses.
First thing I noticed was that unlike the other defective glasses the battery was drained completely right out of the box. I tried to sync it by pressing the glasses button and no light would flash indicating the battery was out of power. So I thought that the glasses needed to be charged as it says in the manual you need to charge prior to using the first time. I thought it be to strange as the glasses I returned one week ago come with a few battery power as I was able to test it playing a few games for like an hour before charging it for the first time.
This time I did not use any USB hubs like I did the first time as I read a few topics in this forum people saying that it’s better to charge the glasses and use the IR emitter in USB port embedded on the mobo. So I did that this time and let it charging for like 3 hours non stop.
The strange thing is that after two hours charging the orange amber light that says it’s charging had disappeared. I thought that I was weird since the glasses came out of the box without any battery power so how can the battery been completely charged after only 2 hours charging.
I have even tried to unplug it and plug back again in another USB port to see if the amber orange light would flash, but it didn’t and the light on the top of the glasses just flashed red very fast.
Well, then I unplugged the USB cable and pressed the button and the light flashed green and the glasses were working flawlessy like it should.
I used it for about 3 days, I played many games for a few hours, played many games like Left for Dead, COD5, Street Fighter IV, Dead Space and they all worked just fine.
Well, after 3 days and playing about 8 hours during this time I was ready to another 3D match in Call of Duty 5 and suddenly the glasses light did not flash anymore while pressing its button. I was like, WTF, I didn’t play 40 hours for this glasses have been out of battery already and anyway last time I played the light was green, not red, so It meant I had many hours of 3D play so I it doesn’t work anymore???
I then tried recharging it again and the orange light next to USB port was amber as it was supposed to be “chargingâ€, and the light on the top of the glasses would flash continuously red +green +red and go back like this again, flashing rapidly until it goes off. Sometimes the same led would flash an orange light instead very rapidly. This is the same thing that happened to the replaced defective glasses. Now tell me can someone be so freaking unlucky to replace a product for another one with the same problem??? This is a chance in one million, at least I thought it was.
The thing is that the 3d vision glasses work just fine connected to the USB cable, I mean if the lights on the top led are flashing red + green + green or just orange it won’t work, but I keep pressing the button the led light will turn green and the glasses will work just fine just like the replaced glasses.
But If I unplug the glasses from the USB cord forget about it, no light flashes anymore, no life at all comes out from the glasses it won’t work at all even If I left it charging for 8 hours straight. It will work while connected to the USB port cause it’s receiving power, but the battery doesn’t charge anymore and for that the wireless function is out of business.
Now, sorry about my English and for this huge text but I needed to explain this issue the best way possible so any of you can help me out.
Did I do something wrong for these two battery from two different glasses just died without no reason?? Or am I just friggin unlucky to get a faulty 3D glasses and replace them for another faulty glasses??
Have any of you ever came across a problem like the battery itself???
I saw a few pictures from someone who opened up the glasses and fixed themselves the issue. But I’m no electronic engineering and not qualified for this job and anyway I really don’t want to void my warranty.
I guess this can only be a hardware problem and there’s nothing I can do to solve this issue besides replacing it for another glasses, FOR THE SECOND FRIGGIN TIME.
I just woud like to be sure that I have done nothing wrong and that both glasses just happened to have the same issue. I guess I’m definitely out of luck. Maybe It’s a factory line of defective glasses, I don’t know???

I also had some battery issues, but not with my own glasses: 3D Vision Glasses might have a Battery Charging Issue
Completely discharged battery and the glasses did not start charging trough the USB, so I had to jump-start the battery with external power adapter and then they were working and charging just fine, no issues so far after fixing the problem...

Thanks helping out buddy!!!! I think I have already read your post about this issue, you also posted a few pictures of the opened glasses, right??? The thing is I am no eletronic engineering, I don't think I don't even know how to open up the glasses, I'm afraid I might break it trying. Maybe I could take the glasses to an eletronic repair shop where they do stuff like that and have a multimeter, but I'm wondering If that doesn't solve the problem and I close the glasses again and send it back to the online store where I bought it will they be able to tell I try to open the glasses??? Cause If they can tell then my warranty is void and I can no longer replace it for new ones. That's something that makes me think about it cause your idea of a simple solution made me think about trying it. Very impressive though you found a way to fix it yourself, congrats!!!!
Btw, When your glasses were having the battery issue did they work just fine while connected to the USB?? Mine works OK plugged, it only doesn't work anymore in wireless mode cause of the defective battery that no longer charges.
Also, when you connected your faulty glasses to the USB in order to try charging the battery did you also noticed the upper led to flash continually in red + green + green or just orange rapidly??? I just want to make sure your issue is somehow similar to mine, I might try your way...

Well your problem is a bit different. In my case the glasses did not work with the usb plugged in too, and when you plug the cable to charge them the red light just blinks and stays off with the battery not charging at all. So it will probably be better to just send them for replacement and describe the problem so that the guys at the shop can test out the new glasses before sending them to you...

Thanks buddy for the feedback. You said that your glasses did not work at all while connected to the USB. Well, mine would also would blink red, or red + green + green, or sometimes just flash orange rapidly and would not function while connected to teh USB, but if I insist on pressing the button the led would be green and the the glasses were ready for 3D use. So It usually doesn't work when I connect to the USB cause these weird lights would be flashing out therefore by pressing the button it would somehow sync and I could use the 3D glasses if plugged to the PC.
I'm just saying that cause maybe you just saw the flashing lights and didn't try to press the button which could make it function. See, If the problem is the battery it should work just fine connected to the USB cause it would use the power supplied by the USB not by the battery. Maybe our issue is the same, that 's why I would like you to confirm if you tried pressing the glasses button a few times after you saw the red blink.
Anyway, I'm sending it back to store where I bought and hopefully they will send me another brand new 3d Vision glasses. It doesn't help testing out the glasses before sending it to me cause the first one I got came with the battery functioning, I used for like 3 hours and then decided to charge for a few hours, after that the battery died and I was only able to use it plugged in the USB cord. The second faulty glasses I received was completely out of battery, the led light would not flash at all so I had to charge it. I left it charging for about 3 hours in my PC. I used a different USB port that I used with the first glasses. After charging the battery it worked for about 8 hours of gaming wireless without any problems. Then the next day the battery just died, it would not work anymore unless I connected it to the USB. Also the battery would not charge anymore and the wireless mode doesn't work anymore. Everytime I plug the USB in the glasses, I get flashing orange lights, red + green + green, it varies... and if I insist in pressing the button the light will become green and the glasses will work but only plugged in the usb. The light next to the USB port will always be amber orange, but it wont actually charge the battery.
This is very strange, two glasses, same battery issue, different occasions, I think Nvidia must look at this issue closely and ask for a recall or something like that. I'll be very nervous with the third glasses that I'll receive and pray for this issue not to take place again and again....

In my occasion the glasses did not want to work even after plugging the USB and pressing the sync button a few times. So maybe you had the luck not to be at 0V, but to some voltage of the battery so that it could've been jump-started by the USB and pressing the sync button for a few times. But then again it probably did not charge very well and after using the glasses for some time the battery probably discharged completely to 0V and could not restart the charging process again just from the USB power...
Lets hope the new glasses won't have such issues, but if it is from the same stock and shipment it is very possible to get the same problem again. It might be either a problematic batch or just a shipment of glasses that stayed for too long in the shop and the batteries have discharged too much during that time. That is why I suggested to ask for trying the glasses before sending them to you, maybe even try to recharge them too before sending them out.

I see, unfortunately I'm from Brazil and there's only one official Nvidia seller in my country. Anyway he sold about 10 glasses and for some weird reason I was the only one to complain and to get two glasses with the same battery issue. So there's a chance that my luck gets better now cause if I'm the only one complaining I guess the other 8 glasses that were sold were free of battery issues.
I've talked to the guy that sold me the glasses and he still has the same shipment and he will get new onesonly after sells out his stock and that could take a month or more. So I'll get one from teh same shipment.
I guess it must be one of the first glasses that Nvidia released cause the CD drivers that came inside the package were 1.0 drivers and today you can download 1.11 drivers, so this batch was probally manufactured in january or even earlier. Did your 3D glasses also came with CD drivers 1.0 or newer ones???
I don't know why you think trying out the glasses or charging it before sending will make a difference. The first one I received had battery power as the light flashed gren the first time I tried them out and after the first attempt of charging it the battery just died. The second glasses I received came without any battery power, It was completely drained, then I charged it for a few hours and it was ready to use as the led light was bright green and I was able to use it for like 8 hours and then suddenly the battery just died for no reason. It's really awckard these issues, one issue happened right after the first charge and the second one after using it for 8 hours wireless.
I really hope the third one doesn't have any issues, I have my fingers crossed. Now, It's wait time, back to playing 2D for a few days.

Man sorry to say im from brazil too (goiania) and have the same problem...
ki bosta pra nois =/
comprol do baradel e-comerce???
estou tentando fazer a bateria voltar a vida aki colocando e tirando o cabo usb.. resolveu seu problema???
boa sorte!!!
I am also from Brazil, i have just bought my glasses and it has the exact same issue you described, everything just the same. I am going to send it back for replacement too, i tried to contact nvidia support to check what does the red green green lights mean, but its been 48h and they havent answered. After your third replacement, did you have better luck?
PS: srry for bumping a month old topic but i am having the EXACT same issue, every little bit.

Gee whiz 3 of you from Brazil with this, sounds like a batch of them have the trouble.
I reckon it would be worth the wait to return to the shop and get a new pair if you can.
the biggest coincidence is that the other guy that spoke in portuguese, oblivion182, bought from the same store i did. I was hoping one of them would reply telling me if they eventually managed to get perfectly working glasses out of all this but i guess its been too long for them to answer...

Just bought a new(second hand) pair of glasses, they came with a monitor and have never been out of the box.
30€ seemed like a good price, but... I can't make them work :/
The orange led flashes when I try to charge them, but nothing happens and I can't turn them on, not even while they are still connected !!
Is it normal that they don't work with the cable plugged, if the battery is dead ??
Quite recently there was a thread here, and replacment batteries where discussed.
I can't find that thread again, I think bo3b was involved, can anybody remember what thread it was ?

You can try shocking/jumpstarting the battery, so that it can hold charge again. It was discussed in one of the topics in this forum. Some have success with this method.
Easiest but the more time consuming, annoying way is connecting charging cable to a wall adapter (an adapter with an on/off switch will be more useful), then continuously and quickly power on and off the adapter for 5-10 minutes.
The harder option is to dismantle the glasses and literally jumpstarting the battery with naked cables if I'm not wrong.
I may be remembering things wrong, so be sure to do some research or try the easiest method.

I just found a thread where D-Man descripes what he calls "pulse charging" :)
I'll try that to start with..
Has anybody recently tried to change the battery, as I recall it, it has to be another type than the original ??
I found this nice description though http://www.zieluk.pl/nvidia_3D_Vision/index.html

Thanks in advance..

I reckon it would be worth the wait to return to the shop and get a new pair if you can.

And lots of ram and HD's ;)
