General concensus is that competition is good for the consumer.

1. Thats new to me. If what it says its what I've always been asking for [though I want 1080pX2 screnes]. If what it says is true I'd pay like $500 for that easy. Thats kind of my dream, its "VR" but it could be used as a 3D display/normal games[third person]. Though too early to say if it will hold true.

All 3D formats, SBS preferred
2.I don't think infiniteye is even close to being a consumer product. Its an awesome idea but last I heard they haven't funds/backing/hardware manufacture. Though tbh the head/neck strain on that thing seems pretty ginormous.
Its kind of interesting because its seriously just multimonitor[widescreen 3 monitor] + 3D. If they got it to work with 3d vision. I dont see why it wouldn't work with all multimonitor 3d games.

Definetly. Anything that uses a "proprietary" format.
[url]http://www.trueplayergear.com/[/url]
If what that says is true. It does the "distortion" via its own hardware / to normal media. Making it so it doesn't have to be "designed" for the game. Though I really couldnt say anything about its headtracking... games without native implementation are kind of trashy tbh..
*Shrug* Tbh, wired headtracking is less then convient regardless so I wouldn't mind not using that.

TBH, that one seems kind of like a "make money plan" for the people kickstarting it. Its all cheap materials and I'd bet money they don't work on getting any implementation or anything. I really doubt developers would implement for it anywayz.

Yeah, they seem more interested in the 3D-printing aspect than the VR aspect, which sends off warning bells for me. It's like a restaurant that is more excited about its crockery than its food.

TruePlayerGear indeed looks nice and with that cute robot face - of course its my type of VR headset... I just want one thing - more field of view than just 90 degrees...and I think that's why I would maybe get Oculus Rift headset...but later on I will see about this...If Oculus can put a cuter smile, then i would be a bit more happy :D

Thanks 4everAwake, that's a great graphic!
Looking at the Virtual Reality column on the right, my sense is that Oculus Rift will win this with the freedom to make their own panels with Facebook's money. I think Avegant Glyph is a prime example of people wanting to jump on Oculus Rift's band wagon. It's essentially an HMD like Sony's hmz-t1, but they've been hyping it as a virtual reality device because Oculus has proven VR is hot. It's not VR, just lots of syrupy sweet claims that don't match its specs.
Sony Morpheus is the wild card. Sony is in a great position with Playstation, but their display panel business is failing.

Morpheus = No discussion of release date. Developers have barely recieved it. Not even outside of sony affiliated studios/Studios currently already working on Oculus games. Its not final product. You don't go from that <-> finished retail product in 6 months.
Oculus CV1 = NEVER discussed a date. Its done when its done. TBH, I really don't see them releasing it 6 months after DK2. That means that no feedback from DK2 will go into it. Developers who start with DK2 will have 6 months to finish a full game. Makes no sense.
Microsoft = REPORTED to be working on a VR device.
Avegant Glyph = Kind of surprised to see it listed. Its 45degree fov. Its not really a VR device unless you count headtracking which I don't believe anyone knows how good that is.
I think its a good list but a lot of alot of author "wishful expectations".

So the Samsung VR is really a shell that you slide a Samsung Galaxy phone into. And they've signed a partnership where Oculus will be supplying the software for the VR. Specifically a lot of the work Carmack has been focused on.
In return, Samsung gives Oculus access to their next gen OLED panel for CV1.
