I think I don't have a ghosting problem but another one....
Hi everyone, reading around on the web, I found out that the ghosting effect is when I see a shadow on the top or on the bottom of the glasses. But this isn't my problem! Mine is that I see a little of double green image! pratically on the left eye I see a bit of the right and vice versa (like a green aura).

I have geforce 9800GTX so it's ok, windows 7 and a Philps CRT 109B running 800x600 at 120Hz.
I have tried also on other Hertz like 100 and 110 but nothing. I don't have any flickering effects, it's just perfect but only these green aurea. (the green aurea become more evident/defined when I increase the depth). What can I do?

thanks.

p.s. the 190.62 dirvers crash (blue screen) stick the 190.38!!!

That is ghosting. CRT's have that more than other monitors.

So it's ghosting that I have...but there were other solutions? like I read that also with the LCD Samsung 2233z (or something) they experience ghosting too!
Why the ghosting effect happen? bad syncronization between monitor and glasses?
the "wait vsync" in game should be enabled or disabled?

A color change does not sound like ghosting exactly. Its just hard to tell because we dont know what you see. It depends on the image. Normally, ghosting is more like a shadow that some color halo. The lcd glasses always cause some ghosting because they are not totally opaque when switching, it just isnt possible. THe other thing is, the pixels cannot perfectly respond at 120hz. They cannot go from bright to dark that fast. Given this technology, you are going to get some ghosting. Even so, it should not be that big of a deal. Most things should be fine. A crt may rely more on adjustments. The 2233rz is not adjustable in 3d, so you dont really have a choice.

Go to this page and download the two photos there and save them locally and rename them as jps files. One is ok with ghosting, but you can see certain spots like the yellow ups symbol in the bottom part of the photo, you can see it ghosted on the flat part of the building. There are several bright lights that cause localized ghosting in many places, but overall, the image should look good. The ghosting should not be overwhelming. If it is, you probably have a problem with your setup.

The second image with the bright skies is a ghosting nightmare. Even though the skies are ghosted like crazy, the neutral middle and bottom of the image should look fine.

Thank for the reply scstudios!
I downloaded the 2 pics, the NY on the night it's perfect, the NY on day still way good only a little bit of ghosting on the ship on the left on the right eye.

I made a fake ghost effect just to explain what I see when I experience ghosting

www.lucianopalladino.com/images/example.jpg

the ghosting effect is more evident when I increase the depth. On the jps viewer of Nvdia u can't adjust the separation. I experience that effect especially when I'm playing in games.

I dunno if I can do something to improove becouse sometimes it's unplayble with that effect!

Thanks.

The ghosting comes from bright whites on screen not being completely blocked by the LCD glasses. They don't make it perfectly black so some still shines through and creates the ghosting. The reason why increasing depth makes it worse is because the further away the two whites get, the more obvious it is. When there is practically no separation, like at 10-15% depth, it's practically not noticeable at all since the two images are so close together.

Since you have a CRT you should be able to turn down brightness, letting you darken things a bit and soften the ghosting/make it slightly less obvious. In the games that have let me turn it down though, it doesn't decrease ghosting by much. White is white, no matter how bright =/

Increasing gamma in displaysettings also does wonder with ghosting on a crt. Too much gamma will make the image look "washed out" though.

you were right! I made some tweeking about the brightness and stuff. Well I still experiencing some ghosting it is better now. At this point I dunno if is convinient to buy a 22"LCD at 120 If I have the same problem. The only reason that I'll do that is for the 22"...let's see

I used CRTs for 3d gaming for years and some of the best at that. My new 120hz LCD is better hands down. /thumbup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
