Just Cause 2 Lock Up
Hi, I recently installed and played Just Cause 2. On regular (non 3D) mode the game runs fine at 1080P and 720P with everything set at full. Once I change the game to 3D by pressing CTRL+T, it locks up. I can only quit by going to the task manager and forcing it to end. One thing to note is that the music continues to run when the game locks up. I'm not sure what's causing this lock up and how I should fix it. Other games such as Tomb Raider etc all run fine on 3D. I have the latest Geforce drviers and using 3DTV play software. My system specs are as follows: OS: Windows 8.1 CPU: Intel Core i7 4770K [stock] RAM: 16GB Video: EVGA Geforce 560Ti DS 1MB [waiting for 8xx to upgrade ;)] Display: Samsung 46" 7Series ES7500 3DTV Kindly assist to fix this. I heard the game is amazing in 3D and I want to check it out badly.

Windows 8.1 has a lot of issues with 3d. This is almost certainly one of them, with the only known fix being reverting to Win7 or Win8.

Since we have an existence proof of working on 8.1, your best bet is to reinstall the drivers using Clean Install. Driver problems when going into 3D mode could cause this.

I can confirm that I did have problems with JC2 on 8.1, to add a data point.

I had exactly the same problem as OP. I had it running couple of times on 8.1, i needed to activate 3d (ctrl + t) during first intros or during a benchmark. Half the time it froze in those scenes too. After getting it to render in 3d, it was broken. Shadows, trees and light rendered all at screen depth. Fortunately i had win7 also installed which had jc2 working in 3d just fine, so definitely a 8.1 problem. I also had tridef driver installed when this happened. On my system it prevents somehow 3d vision to automatically activate when launching a game. I have to press ctrl+t in every game in order to enable 3d. Just a note to those wondering why i needed to manually activate 3d in the first place. Maybe the source of problem too? I dont remember if i tried without tridef and clean driver install, tridef was on win7 too which again worked fine.

I'm not starting 3D once in the game, it turns on when the game loads, which is different from the OP and Sammy. I'd suggest doing it that way and see if it still crashes.

More data points :-) Runs flawlessly fully maxed out graphics on Asus Maximus/2 x 780ti/H5360 - ...obviously. This is on Win 8.1 PRO OEM install disc. I haven't played too many on this box (yet), but I have no problems with this 8.1 install. Upgrading from 7 or 8 might be an issue, but who knows, I don't. To speak to the game "crashing" or getting a black screen/display with the music still going, yes, this happens to me when I have the video settings too high on my 3x680 surround. If I overclock 30% or so, it reduces the amount of time this happens, but I ended up having to dial back the graphics. Start lower on the graphics setting (quality) and work your way back up and see what happens.
