Problem using 2 monitors (1 with 3d)
Hi, I was hoping I could get some help from these forums regarding a very annoying problem I am having. I bought myself a 3d monitor (acer GD245hq) and I already have a normal monitor (acer V243hl), when I set these up side by side and use the 3d one as my main monitor, the 3d wont work on it with the second monitor on aswell. To solve this everytime I want to use 3d I have to 'turn off' the second monitor by disabling it in nvidia control panel under multiple monitor option.

I have spent countless hours trying to figure this out but with no luck, I read somewhere that if I disable (not disconnect) the second monitor through windows and then re enable it through control panel it will work, however this isn't the case for me it still wont work. It is definately disabled as when I go into the device manager and click the second monitor it has a tiny icon on it and when I right click or go into the properties it asks me to enable it and tells me it wont be working.

I'm really stumped and can't figure this out, I have gone through all sorts of options but nothing is fixing this and it's becoming a royal pain in the butt having to disable the 2nd monitor through control panel everytime I want to use 3d, PLEASE help I love my new 2 monitor setup and really dont want to be going back to 1.

P.S. Even though the 2nd monitor remains disabled in device manager it still shows up in the standard resolution settings in windows when I enable the monitor again in control panel.

Yes i've noticed that too, when i plug 2 monitors one 3D, and one that isn't, the 3D monitors refresh rate is capped at 60hz too, so the 3D will not work properly... that is why i am only using one, i think that the best solutions for 3D, is a single monitor, or go directly to 3D Surround with all screens 120hz.

Just wanted to post the same thing. It has been working previously, this seems to have been introduced by a recent driver.

It _used_ to be that you just disabled and re-enabled the second monitor via the nvidia control panel. I've been testing all morning, and the only solution that works is to disable the second monitor as you say.

What's really odd about this is that the 3d vision test application will work just fine either way.

Sylik, I have the exact same setup, and I would have pointed you in the same direction you have already gone, so I'm gonna go with it being a driver issue. As Wintergreen just said, I couldn't run the 304.48 beta drivers at all because of this very problem. The test application worked fine, but when loading games the 3D totally messed up, and it was clear the driver couldn't make its mind up between the two monitors.

I reverted back to the 295... whql drivers and everything works fine.

@ Ricardois: What you are describing shouldn't be. My system has no problem running the 3D monitor at 120hz and the other monitor at 60hz. Again, it may depend on what driver you are using... Again, I tried the new beta but had to revert to the 295.

Same problem here once I updated to the 304 drivers. Went back to 301.25 and it works again properly.

What driver version you got? I have had this issue on some driver versions too, but this kind of reinstall did the trick:

1. Turn off and disable monitor from control panel.
2. Reboot.
3. Do clean install for drivers.
4. Reboot.
5. Run 3DVision wizard.
6. Turn on second monitor and enable it from control panel.
7. ???
8. Pro fit.

If it doesnt work go back 301.24 beta.

Thanks for the replys and help, will try what JiiiHaad said and if that doesn't work will just use the 1 monitor for now, yes I have the 304.48 driver but really dont want to go back as this driver has really improved the games I play, so will probably just stick with 1 monitor until a newer driver comes out that fixes the problem. Thanks again.
