I am hoping some of you projector folks can help me out here. I'm not as computer experienced as Tritosine and some others, but could use some help. ANyway, when I play a blue ray my projector looks absolutely GORGEOUS. Brigthness and everything look great. So then when I swap over to my pc, it just looks a little "washed out". Even when I'm not using Nvidea 3d my pc games still seem a bit not as clear/bring as they should. If it can look perfect during a blue ray I want my pc games to look just as awesome. I run my pc through my projector at many different resolutions and they all just don't look as bright as I would like them to. I use hdmi from pc into projector and am using a nvidea 480 gtx graphics card.

I was able to fix this a long time ago by using some edid override thing that tritosine or somebody posted. After using that override I was able to go even higher resolution on my projector up to 1900x1200 or wtvr, and it looked bright and great. I think it was for the acer projector that everyone was using. Anyway, I haven't even really succesfully upgraded my "software" online for my projector because it doesn't really work when doing that. Again, nvidea 3d works fine, blue ray looks perfect (so it has nothing to do with my screen or projector because I love blue ray quality and brightness), I just want my pc games even when not in 3d mode to look bright and enjoyable.

What resolution are you using when it doesnt look clear? 1920x1080? The projector has a native resolution of 1280x720 so if you are displaying higher than that, its scaling it up to 1920x1080.

Native Res is definitely 1280x800.

If you run at 120Hz you will lose brightness compared to 60Hz, so check refresh rate. I don't know about the Viewsonic, but from other posts (Tritosine et al) I gather less segments on the colour wheel are used in 120hz on the Acer H5360 and since they are all the same DLP chip I'm guessing the viewsonic is the same.

Also, just up digital vibrance in the Nvidia control panel. This boosts all colours really well.

Unless you've got £2000+ to spend on a projector I wouldn't worry about native res too much. From other forums on the internet you'll find that there is an opinion that higher res source material that is scaled down to native res does often look better than native res. I guess this is amongst other reasons because you're performing a type of of anti-aliasing.

Thanks for the digital vibrance recommendation. I've never even seen this option lol.

1 - when im playing sc2 at 1280x800 on my projector isn't it going to look ALOT worse thatn the 1900x1200 im using on my monitor. Also, don't i actually see less on my screen and have a smaller viewing area...so that I see less of my army and am at a disadvantage?

2 - Lastly, what else is out there? I have to jump from 700$ to about 2000$? What is native resolution on the projectors a step up that also play nvidea 3d? If i want a projector that has a native 1600x1200 or so PLUS works in nvidea 3d vision...what is out there? what is closest to this?

Thanks!
