Risen 3
  5 / 5
Not finding anything on Risen 3 on helixmod I was thrilled to find this thread. Unfortunately the fix doesn't work for me (win 10, 64bit). I'm pretty sure I did everything right (tried it three times from the beginning), but the shadows are completely wrong. Something happens though because if I turn the shadows off, the rest looks better than without the fix. Another weird problem is, that the mouselook is stuck (mouse works fine in menues). I have to guess it's because of some driver update that happend since march. It's really a shame because this game would look awesome in 3D. @mx-2: Do you plan to revisit the fix? In any case thanks to all the modders who keep 3dvision alive!
I have played over 12 hours of this game in 3D and it looks fantastic. The only issues of note that I noticed so far are the reticle for the large rifles and shotguns render at screen depth and I have seen the occasional issue on what appears to be a water refraction but that pops up very rarely.
As I played only the first five minutes of the game yet and there is no cheat console in this game, I have't fixed anything that occurs later in the game (like guns). HUD depth fixes are usually the most easiest type of fix so you should be able to fix the crosshair issue by yourself. When hunting, look for a vertex shader that disables the crosshair and apply a fix similar to VS489B9EA4, VS398E495B or VS8EF66911. The constant depth amount is defined by a constant (c240) from DX9Settings.ini . Alternatively, you could upload your savegame so that I can have a look on the issues but this may take some time. I tested the fix with tht GOG version on 64 bit Win 7 and driver 358.87. Otherwise please check if the fix installed so that the d3d9.dll from the package is located in the same directory (/system) as the Risen3.exe . If you are using the steam version: Is your executable called Risen3.exe ? In case of Risen 2 the exe is called only Risen. If this is the case, rename it to Risen3.exe so that the profile is correctly loaded. I hope that this helps.

The hud was on screen depth, but the "use Helixmod x64"-message in the right corner was there, so the profile was definitely loaded. As I own the steam version of the game and not the GOG one, in the end I tried a cracked exe as this was also mentioned somewhere in this thread - and voila: that worked. So obivously it was a steam-related problem. Thanks again for your help - Now I'm off to play some nice 3d Risen ;)

It includes installation instructions in the readme and all necessary files, including the dll. To update the fix to the latest version, download the whole git repository from the main page with the big green "Clone or download" button and replace the file "DX9Settings.ini" and the "ShaderOverride" directory with the new files from the Risen 3 git directory. Please delete the old "ShaderOverride" directory completely before replacing it with the new one since it could be possible that some files have to be deleted for the new fix to work. I hope that this helps.

I have issues with this fix: - Mouse does not work with the fix, keyboard and gamepad works. - "F4" and "R" does not work too, so can't disable SSAO. I tried changing d3d9.dll with different ones, no change. This is the only time I'm having these kind of problems with a 3DV fix. Does anybody have an idea? PS: Followed the instructions step by step.
