Apple MacBook Pro NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M 3D vision support
Hi,
I would like to know whether the NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M embedded in the MacBook Pro 15" retina 2014 https://support.apple.com/kb/SP704?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US supports the Nvidia 3D vision.
many thanks,
d
Unfortunately, only 3D Vision certified laptops will work with 3D Vision via the integrated display and would require that it have a refresh of 120Hz.
Nvidia also has laptops that are certified as "Optomized for Nvidia GeForce", these have 60Hz displays that use a Film Pattern Retarder for Passive 3D.(line interleaved)
3D Vision Discover is an "Anaglyph 3D" and works with all 60Hz screens, but is locked out on some laptops it seems.
As far as a MacBook, I'm uncertain, since I'm unfamiliar with them.
But a laptop using Windows could be used with an external 3D Display provided that the "video output" is connected directly to the Nvidia GPU and not the CPU integrated graphics.

I'd also recommend trying it first in anaglyph mode, to maybe save you some money.
The problem is that the 750M is a weak GPU and is not likely to give you good enough performance in 3D. In 3D, the scene is drawn twice per frame, once for each eye. This doubles the GPU requirements, and the 750M is going to be marginal at even 1080p. In 3D, I would expect this to be unplayable, but everyone is different, so you might find it OK.
Thus, I'd recommend, try the anaglyph/red/blue/Discover mode first and see if it seems OK from a performance perspective. No money down, free test.
