CRT / 3D Vision problem - no refresh rates above 85 Hz
Hi,

Bought the 3D Vision glasses last week, and just installed a new GTX 260 (core 216). My CRT (Dell P1130, 21") definitely does high refresh rates, I had it running 1027*768 @ 120 Hz with my Radeon 4890 last week on the same PC. However with the new nVidia card, the max refresh rate listed for every resolution is 85 Hz. I haven't even took the 3D glasses out of the box yet because there's just no point unless I can get my CRT to 120 Hz.

'Add Custom Resolution' just tells me my CRT doesn't support 1024*768 @ 120 Hz which is obviously wrong since I had it working last week and the only thing that's changed is the video card/display drivers. I tried all the timing options from the drop down list - auto just overrides the refresh rates and you end up with 85 Hz, all the other options just say mode not supported by monitor.

Anyone know what's going on? I'm using Windows 7 64 bit. Maybe there's some older nVidia drivers I could try or something. Don't want to go down the riva-tuner route unless I really have to.

Cheers,
Simon.

Well after reading all the CRT threads here and trying a million things I've given up and installed vista 32 on a 2nd drive, and all refresh rates are available via 'add custom resolution' and work properly. Problem solved. 1280*960 @ 120 Hz working fine, just about to install and try 3D Vision 1.15.

I can do 120hz on my desktop, but no matter what I do, in-game I can't enable it (w/ or w/out 3D Glasses). 1024x768 @120hz no prob on desktop, but max is 85hz in-game. Vista 32 user.

EDIT: Just got it to work with Refreshlock.

Sorry won't work for you SHARKMEAT. :(

I'll give RefreshLock a try, because I'm finding it's really hit and miss whether I can get a game to run in 120Hz. When it's working the 3D effect is very impressive. Since the technology relies so much on refresh rates nvidia really should have given you a robust refresh rate force option.
