I think the samsung has a better contrast ratio. 8000:1 vs 1000:1 but maybe the viewsonic has True contrast ratio which is propably the case because if not it's a major downgrade.

Well that's a lot! /w00t.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':w00t:' /> Even my HDTV has 10 000:1. The only feature i have doubt about the Samsung is it's refresh rate of 5ms. It's not bad but I was expecting better after all these years.

It's 20,000:1 dynamic ratio. That means it can go up to that, but doesn't really mean it's always at that ratio. It's probably more of a marketing thing to make it look more impressive to consumers. Not saying it's a bad monitor though... i have it and I love it.

These suckers sure do love dust though... Between it and my shiny-black finish TV, it collects half the dust in the room! Who needs an air filter?

No monitor is going to be ghost free, it's not a problem cause by the monitor. I own the Samsung, like most of the users that bought the bundle. It's not bad although it seems to have a little bit of backlight bleed around the edges, but as high as the contrast and brightness is run for 3D I guess there will be some. I have only seen a post from one owner of a Viewsonic, and they had a problem with getting 4 3D screens instead of one. I wouldnt' think it to be a fault of the monitor, but then I haven't seen a post form a Samsung owner complaining about that issue. One of the topics in the forum deals with his problem and I havent' noticed if he resolved it yet or not. Cant' go wrong with the Samsung though.

I recently went with the viewsonic instead of the samsung to save the $50. I wish I had spent it. I read that the samsung has some bleed through on dark screens along the edges, and somewhere else I read that the viewsonic was virtually the same screen.

I've had the viewsonic for a week on Wednesday. The only adjustments are the brightness and volume. Of course I don't use the built in speakers at all.

I've got a few problems with the screen. First off, it wobbles left and right when I type. It's got a very thin/narrow neck from the base to the monitor and typing causes it to rock back and forth. It's very annoying.

The next issue is that it doesn't turn on when booting up. It needs the correct drivers in windows in order to work, so if I didn't have a second monitor, I wouldn't be able to edit/change the bios or see anything until my PC was in windows. I don't even know how someone would install this screen properly in Vista without having a second monitor available to do the software installation.

All in all, I wish I had spent the extra $50 on the samsung instead of this viewsonic. I've been a big fan of viewsonics for years, and my other screen is a 22" viewsonic LCD. I really feel let down by this $350 LCD. If it didn't have 120hertz, it wouldn't be worth $100 in my opinion.
