Well, I wouldn't worry too much about the lack of 3D in those talks. They barely even talk about gaming graphics at all. I mean clearly the future for NVidia is in self-driving cars, so forget everything else. :->

Nvidia please double the performance with PASCAL as you doubled it with the 8600/9600GT in midrange 250-300$ so that a single mid-range GPU can manage 4K gaming too with at least 50-70fps and start working on 8K cards (2025). Actually the majority can't move on to 4K or VR, since there is no real performance gain in the mid section. There is really a huge need for 4K performance across all segments in the near future 2016 and onwards. Everything else is just AMD style, don't do the same. Don't just do a maxwell rebrand in lower segments. We need true performance gains, since we are moving from 1080p to 2160p in a very short time. Oh and you owe us one for the 970, kepler and maxwell issues. We know that maxwell is just a step over to pascal. So please with 2017 surprise us with a proper new lineup from 100$ - 1000$

Came across this article. Found it interesting, never heard of "Tape-out" before. Keep in mind that the article is based only on a rumor, but it's still a good read. The term Tape-out (at IBM we refer to this as RIT, short for "Release Interface Tape") comes from the good old days when we used to literally put all the chip design files onto a magnetic storage tape and walk them over to the factory to start producing the chips. Nowadays of course we'd just send the files over a network, but it's still a significant event when any piece of hardware gets to that stage and we still use the same term. This doesn't mean the design is final - a chip will generally go through several more iterations to fix up any problems found during testing before it's ready to ship to customers.

The latest that I've found on Pascal. Based on a slide that Nvidia demonstrated at the GTC Japan 2015, next-generation high-end graphics cards with “Pascal” GPUs will sport up to 16GB of HBM2 with up to 1TB/s bandwidth. Previously Nvidia expected select solutions with “Pascal” graphics processors to feature up to 32GB of HBM2. http://www.kitguru.net/components/graphic-cards/anton-shilov/nvidias-next-gen-high-end-graphics-cards-will-get-16gb-of-hbm2-memory/

Also, they say 3D Vision 3 VR will revolutionize the way we see things! This means both 3D VIsion and VR based on display you are using with automatic adjustments of the Projection matrices and other intrinsic calculations. Also, they are working with key hardware manufacturers on Glasses Free 3D Displays based on IPS panels with refresh rate up to 200Hz to provide a smooth 100fps per eye and VR Headsets without controllers, by using the brain waves to determine "your logic and next move"!!! This is awesome news!!!!! I can't wait for 2035! Only a couple of months left.... Oh...wait... we are still in 2015 but MAN, this dream seemed so real !!!! ....sigh.... I wish they would just announce something really innovative, rather than smaller die and more VRAM and always the same thing, just EXTRA more... No pun intended, just... I wish a dream like this would actually come to fruition at some point...

This memory increase tends to reinforce a potential market focus shift for future NVIDIA GPUs like Pascal, away from graphics to other embedded applications like deep learning. For example, see http://www.hpcwire.com/2015/07/07/nvidia-wades-farther-into-deep-learning-waters/. It will be interesting to see gaming benchmark performance for this next generation.

Is any graphics benchmark information available yet for Pascal? As another indication of NVIDIA's shifting focus, note that NVIDIA was one of the best performing stocks of 2015 - up 64% over the year. According to CNN, NVIDIA "has been in the forefront of working with auto companies like Tesla to use its in-car infotainment system. It is also aggressively selling its technology for self-driving cars." Note that self-driving cars are a direct application of deep-learning technologies.

Car bit is interesting because I was looking at CES websites and one of the big blurbs about CES 2016 is about how NVidia is showcasing self-driving cars. Think the Big Guy is holding his CES Nvidia press conference tomorrow, but I'm certainly not expecting Pascal to be of any focus. Not for CES.

Seems earlier that some of the recent speculation. Would love to see the GP104 cards hit by June.

Sounds like we should know more soon. See http://vrworld.com/2016/04/30/battlefield-5-geforce-gtx-1080-reveal-date/. Hard to tell if the 1080 will out-perform the 980 Ti, so far (980 Ti has more CUDA cores, but new memory and other changes may alter overall performance)...
