Fullscreen 3d vision not working at 1080p on BenQ xl2420t
Hi all, have an odd problem where 3d vision has *stopped* working when I'm in fullscreen on my BenQ xl2420t, at 1920 X 1080p resolution. This used to be working fine and for some reason has just stopped.
When I try to run a 3d application in fullscreen I get the error message, "Warning attempt to run stereoscopic 3D in a non stereo 3D mode. Switch to an acceptable mode or read the literature for acceptable modes". It does however work for windowed applications.
What may be tied to the problem is that, by default, there is no longer an option in Nvidia Control Panel to set my display at 1920X1080 @ 120hz. (120hz is still available, but only at lower resolutions). I am able to create a Custom Resolution that does run at 1920X1080 @ 120hz by ticking the enable non detected video modes option, and this seems to work fine for most purposes, but evidently not for 3d. Just for clarity, my GTX 670 card is connected to the monitor via DVI.
I've tried cleaning the system of nvidia drivers with the Display Driver Uninstaller, and reinstalling the last drivers, and also rolling back to some previous drivers but the problem persists. So now I'm really just a bit lost and any help would be greatly appreciated.

I don't know the answer, but you could check device manager and look under monitors.
See how many are shown and try changing to the BenQ driver or uninstalling one/them? Or restart in safe mode and remove all display devices?
Sometimes the message can come up because windows has (or thinks it has) multiple displays connected.
Check display properties (windows 7, right click desktop then choose display resolution) and see how many displays are listed or activated.
You could also try another DVI port (dual-link obviously) if the card has it?
Just some ideas, good luck!

If it's anything like my Proj you don't select 120hz, leave it at 60hz and the 3D software does the rest, which is why you are being told 'Warning attempt to run stereoscopic 3D in a non stereo 3D mode.'

Tried this, didn't work I'm afraid.

Again, thanks for the ideas, but I tried all of these, it's a bizarrely persistent problem.

You could try backing up your whole system, then reinstalling Windows just to test. If it works, you know it's a software problem. If it doesn't work, it's hardware (and you can restore your backup so you're not inconvenienced by having to set everything up how you like it again)

Sounds like your system is confused as to what your monitor supports, or maybe what brand and model of monitor it is. Take a look in the NVidia control panel, at Change resolution.
Does it still say BenQ xl1240t there? If not, it's confusing your monitor with something else.
This seems like an EDID problem where the monitor is not being recognized properly. It would be worth trying to uninstall the drivers for the monitor specifically, then search again for drivers to refresh the monitor inf.

I had a look, it does say xl2420t (which is correct, I gave the model number incorrectly in my first post). I tried reinstalling the monitor driver but still no joy.
There's a setting on the monitor that lets you view the current resolution and refresh rate. Normally this is at 1920X1080 @120hz (from my custom entry in Nvidia Control panel), but when the 3d wizard starts up this goes down to 1920X1080 @ 60hz. If there were some way to force 120hz when fullscreen 3d applications start I think that would solve my problems, but I don't know of a way.

Okay, so I finally figured a working solution. For anyone else experiencing this problem:
[olist]
[.]In Nvidia Control Panel create a custom resolution with refresh rate of 120hz[/.]
[.]Click Setup Stereoscopic 3d, Test stereoscopic 3d[/.]
[.]Select the 120hz Refresh Rate, And Apply this refresh rate to all games[/.]
[/olist]
It should work correctly from then on. I also uninstalled Nvidia Experience, though that probably didn't do anything.
