customizable anaglyphs (like early drivers) Pleease, request for andy
There was this really cool feature on the old style control panel where you could freely pick custom colors for left and right eye what would allow for other coding schemes like blue/yellow etc.

Let me explain why this was a very useful feature:

- Perfect reduction of ghosting on whatever glasses at hand. I know that nvidia will be supplying one pair discover glasses with their cards in the future, but I for instance have a couple of older anaglyphs with plastic frame that I use for watching mocvies with my friends. Also there are plenty of different variants around like red/green, color code and more.

- While red /cyan may be apropriate for some movies (talking about beamer and multiple viewers - so the shutters are not an option) on some it just does not work out well at all. Some movies were especially produced with certain color codes in mind and thus are best reproduced using the same scheme.

- I found color code works better for me than for others while with red/cyan it's quite the opposite. I found that my primary focus is through the left eye (right side less viewing strength). So color code gives me a very good color reproduction where on R/C everything is t(a)inted red.. I remembered that I had reversed the glasses and colors on the old panel on XP and had been happy with that. So I experimentally flipped the glasses again - perception was suprisingly good - but 3D was gone. I could guess this may be an issue for many people and also have led to strong rejection of anaglyphs in the past.

Since these entries are still there in the registry I believe that should be not so a hard thing to do. I understand completely that the "Discover" mode is more sophisticated since it also applies a color correction algorithm, but still a 2nd option like "customized anaglyphs" would increase usefulness and value of the product and promote the "real thing" (3Dvision) even more.

While I (reluctantly) may be able to accept that there will be no support for XP or lower refresh rates, would it be possible to get at least these customzable anaglyph section back? Until then I have to use the other stereodriver that at least allows me to choose blue/yellow for projection...

I installed the 190.38 drivers today on windows 7.

I noticed the support for discover is already in there.

I have a nagging feeling that nvidia specifically disabled color switching for these drivers. (yes blame me).

The entries are in the registry alright. They just don't work.

I will be attempting to 'discover' a way to re-enable color switching.

I was using Green/Magenta fine the other week, disable the "Discover" Color-Correction stuff and it works fine.

How do you disable the discover color correction?

I think it was the AnaglyphEnabled registry value I had to change, I just searched for the Registry thread here but couldn't find it (Why would nVidia delete it? I can only find the old thread that doesn't include information on the Discover mode)

Try setting AnaglyphEnabled to Decimal "3725828669"

I'm afraid this is incorrect.

Sorry. I've now managed to find the thread I previously mentioned, set to Full Color Mode as shown below and it should work with custom colors.

I would assume this would fix it. Since there's no way to set this in drivers, and it doesn't appear to work on my system. I must assume that they've disabled it on purpose.

Can you try the previous 3D Vision drivers release to confirm it?

Oh it definitely works in previous releases like 181.22

I'm gonna roll back to 186.18 to confirm.

**UPDATE**

186.18 is the exact same.

There is no way to disable the red/cyan mode.

The whole screen turns this sort of reddish and then the image goes red/cyan anaglyph.

Nvidia definitely disabled custom anaglyph colors in these newer sets of drivers. Definitely not cool.

Of course, I'm to blame for it with my left4dead revelation.

Yes, custom colors work, but only with StereoAnaglyphType set to 0. I'm using the 3D Vision CD 1.09 (on Windows 7 RC 64x), which contains the driver 186.18 - didn't try the 1.10 BETA however.

"StereoAnaglyphType" used to fall back to "1" everytoime I launched the test app - until I removed the permision to change settings for "System" in that branch of the registry - now it's working fine... /thumbup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
