BenQ W11000 : 4K DLP projector
This was just announced and has yet to be seen. So it's unknown if it will have built in 3D support. I would assume that it would though. There will another 1-2 years until 4K projectors will be available at decent prices. I am not ready to pay more than 2000$ for a projector.

@D-Man11, I appreciate your regular updates on projectors! I'm on my 2nd 5360 and can't wait for higher res on a 110" screen :-) Be a while till I jump on those VR things... not sure if I want to be swinging my neck around at my age ;-)

I cant wait till we get 4K projectors at a decent price. I went out and bought a 50" in 4K TV to do my 2D gaming on and i love it. But a massive screen would really shine with such a high res.

Sony came out with 4K Home Cinema models beginning a few years ago. The first being the VPL-VW1000ES, which ran around $25,000. A newer model the VPLVW350ES sells for $8,000. Sony uses a Silicon X-tal Reflective Display (SXRD™) http://pro.sony.com/bbsccms/assets/files/cat/projectors/solutions/4ksxrd.pdf JVC also has a few Home Cinema models. The DLA-X75 is around $8,000. A more recent entry level model, the DLA-X500R is around $5000. JVC uses D-ILA, which is JVC's version of Liquid Crystal on Silicon (LCOS) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liquid_crystal_on_silicon To achieve a 4K resolution on their projectors, JVC uses a technology called e-shift 3 http://cdn.jvc.eu/dla-x900r/feature01.html

Here's a partial quote from a post by bo3b
Here is the absolute best DMD chip you can buy today, found by D-Man11's links: http://www.ti.com/product/DLP9000/samplebuy This is a 2560x1600 DMD, which would make for a fantastic projector. Unfortunately, in quantity 100, the chip alone goes for $2700. So, decent price 4K? Not happening for a loooong time.
So you can see the DLP Chipset in the BenQ W11000 isn't cheap and adds significantly to the cost. The DLP9000 Family of 0.9 WQXGA Type A DMDs will have a high resolution 2560×1600 (WQXGA) Mirror Array. The mirror array will be Diamond Pixel like the 1920x1080 DLP Rear Projection 3D HDTVs and use the same or similar "wobulation" technology to achieve a full 4K image through the use of offset sub-frames. http://www.drdobbs.com/architecture-and-design/the-smoothpicture-algorithm/197007878 http://www.vidimensio.eu/web/pdf/Introducing%20DLP%203D%20HDTV.pdf So this could potentially mean 4K Checkerboard gaming, just like on the Mitsubishi/Samsung DLP TVs. It's also could probably do 2160 and 1080 3D and look very good because of the way that the smoothpicture algorithm works.
