EVGA are blaming the 3DTV software
  1 / 2
For my card not displaying correctly, even though several other cards, PCs, consoles display fine on it, they claim I should contact Nvidia to sort this, and you all know how good they are at showing their faces nevermind helping! Anyone any ideas?

I already have made a thread about this, EVGA even RMA'd my card, but now just want to blame Nvidia, Nvidia help are fucking useless, after 3 live chats and a phonecall I get this back from them, 1. Please confirm if you are using the glasses provided Acer or different glasses (not needed in the slightest to see the fault) 2. When you open the NVIDIA control panel or when you are out of games please check if the 3D is enabled on the Acer Projector (I think after a few years of 3D ownership I know how to bloody turn it on!) A drugged monkey could do better! My cry for help was if anyone could suggest a better way to get through to someone with a small amount of a clue floating around in their head, over a month of my time wasted with stupid replies like above even though I have already told them far more information than the question has asked! FYI here is a basic rundown. I have tried in total with 4 Nvidia based graphic cards 3 different PC builds (AMD & Intel) Several OS installs (Windows 7 & 8) Multiple drivers, output ports & cables Even a PS3 and an Xbox 360 (in 3D output) The problem only happens when my GTX 680 is 3DTV Play enabled, at that point it fails to output properly as you will see in the attached photo. Its blurry then? Does it not look blurry with the 3D glasses enabled? The "nvidia control p[anel]" icon's horizontal lines are clearly offset vertically, not horizontally, which is weird obviously. Does your display have top/bottom 3D mode?

The image is still sharp, just a blurry appearance from the duplicate image offset, My display has several methods of 3D modes, but the fact is it is a proper 3DTV Play device, so it should (and does) work properly as such except when the EVGA GTX 680 is used, this display error is never seen until the 3DTV Play software is installed and enabled though. And there lies my fight, each party trying to blame the other or offering me the most retarded 'have you turned your PC on?' type comments.

Clearly this situation makes no sense, but at least now that you've posted the details, somebody could possibly have the answer.

Sounds more like an Nvidia driver issue to me with the tiny amount of information about i have available in this thread.

Zed, not sure what you are looking for here, but if you are expecting a response from NVidia, it's not likely to happen. They rarely respond on this forum, maybe twice a year or so. https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/635102/3d-vision/3dtv-play/1

Yeah, I've seen how useless the moderation is in this part of the forums. Well to answer myself I have identified the problem and found a workaround for now (I hope), here's the short story... Enable 3DTV play in the Nvidia control panel Next you would normally select the resolution for 3D, 1280x720 60hz in the resolution list at the top in the 3D resolutions list (not the HD list as I will come to) and apply, now at this point'ish is where the problem arises, 1280x720 60hz is selected and output to, but it has now jumped and is selected as 1280x720 in the HD list of resolutions and not the 3D list and why I believe it is where the problem lies, though the 2 resolutions are the same I think it cocks up something like the quad buffering/page mode etc by placing itself in the wrong resolution category. Now, if I chose instead 1280x720 59hz in the 3D resolutions list and apply, it stays there in the 3D category and outputs properly with no display issues (so far, only had one round of testing as you don't just turn projectors on and off every few minutes). So while as I say I seem to have a workaround I don't consider this fixed, the card or the software is still telling one or the other to work incorrectly and will still have a bloody hard time I think getting the 2 parties to accept and fix it......

If no-one else is having this problem with GTX 680's, and you have tried multiple OS's and Nvidia drivers with the same effect, surely that has to be the card? I have a GTX 680 too, and will soon be able to test 3D tv play on my new 3D tv. But the GPU of the 680 should always be the same (it's only the housing that is different). Aka, if no-one else has this problem on the GTX-680, then something would seem to be up with your card (unless someone with the know how can explain otherwise.) Glad you have a partial solution working. Keep us updated if anything changes.
If no-one else is having this problem with GTX 680's, and you have tried multiple OS's and Nvidia drivers with the same effect, surely that has to be the card?
This has been my standing point, but I'm ultimately falling on deaf ears. EVGA did RMA the 1st card as faulty, but the replacement has the same issue too, so to admit it again would be to admit some form of manufacturing fault with the whole line (I have found faults on entire ranges of TV chassis before) of which I doubt they will do, and are now blaming the Nvidia drivers (tempted to ask them for a refund of my RMA costs since they seemingly diagnosed incorrectly), we 3D users are a pretty small number at the end of the days and as such (and seeing) are being swept under the carpet... Finding that someone in the know is proving to be impossible, too many layers of terrible support (mostly indian call centers and scripts to read from) and no actual tech guys.

You paid for the RMA? In the UK I would be quite adamant for a refund if you have thoroughly tested like you said you have. Have you tried another 680 that isn't EVGA? The only other thing I can think of is the HDMI cable. Although unlikely, I have read on forums people alleging that swapping their HDMI cable has solved their issues. Have you already tried that?

Sadly I don't have a huge chunk of cash atm to get another 680 card to test :P But yes, I've tried other HDMI leads, but as with my other cards/test & the workaround the current lead works flawlessly (and with a 1080p 3D signal) it just seems to be the normal 60hz giving me a shitty display :(
