PS4 Hardware Specs Explained: Implications for PC Gaming & The Future
No need to be jealous ... Xbox One/PC exclusive. :)
I dont play competitive games anymore. I was jealous because multiplayer gamers are getting a more solid game then singleplayer gamers.
EDIT:
What the crap? Its on source engine? That makes 0 sense. They took an engine thats 15 years outdated and polished it up for new systems? Im so confused.
If thats true, its the nightmare engine. Like everything thats broken is a nightmare to fix[at least in ways I know how]. I dont know of a single Source game without weird skybox issues.
There's the Leap releasing soon for $79.
While it still only has minimal gaming capabilities, it's 100 times more sensitive than the Kinect.
Once it releases and more software is developed for it, it might turn into your go to controller for certain games.
The awesome thing is that you can turn a projector screen, into a touch screen :P

Yes I preordered it... disappointed about the delay. Doesn't give me full body control though. Anything that advances technology I am for. Once it is not doing anything illegal or immoral.
Not sure what is wrong with the Kinect.. it's different way to control, similar to the fact we have game controllers, mouse and keyboard, joysticks/flight sticks and steering wheel set ups for the PC, what is wrong with motion controls. I for one am fed up of the old mouse and keyboard for everything, and game pads are nice but I want something new. I like the idea of motion controls and I hope that it grows.
Again Choices.
I take it you've never tried to play a game using one? I agree that choices are good, after all that's why I cam back to PC gaming ... well 3D PC gaming to be specific. But not all of the choices are good for every given situation. For instance, traversing a menu with Kinect is a chore, it's overly cumbersome and extremely time consuming, with a Wii Remote extremely fast and intuitive, point and 'click'.
New is good too. I'd like to try a good controller that actually replaces the right thumbstick with a trackball. Or find a way to mount something like the Leap Motion on top of a 360 controller, instead of the trackpad/PS4 controller.
I dont play competitive games anymore. I'm so grateful that the PS4 is ignoring all the motion bs, if anyone wants it, grab the camera and good for them, but otherwise give me real controls please. There's no way motion controlling will make keyboard / mouse obsolete, how are you going to move, look, shoot, change ammo, select another weapon, jump etc in mere seconds efficiently with motion controls? Besides, I play games to have fun and relax, not to get tired moving my arms like crazy. I only see motion control useful for VR since it could add to the immersion, other than that, it should stay on very specific genres like dancing, fitness, and not much more.

Well all I want is choice. As I said I am tired of the mouse and keyboard. I sit at a desk using mouse and keyboard all day. I don't think think it is BS. Again I think it is choice. Like many have said they like to relax when playing games...so do I but I want to have fun too. I like the option of choice so if I want a motion control then I have it. If I don't I can grab a mouse and keyboard. Some ppl thin 3D is BS also, but to us it is worth it.
I don't play competitively so I don't need to be 100% accurate. I just like the choice. Any game I play I try my razer hydra tgen my xbox controller long before I even try my mouse and keyboard. Thankfully most games support controllers now...and many can be setup for the hydra.
I just want choice that all. I am tired of people tearing down ideas just because they have no interest in it even though it has no effect negatively or positively in the said person

I'm for choices too, but when the choices don't work effectively for what they're trying to do then I'm hardly going to back or praise them, but I am by no means knocking them without merit. I have Kinect, Move, the Wii, and the Hydra. The Wii's IR aiming just plain works, when they released the Wii Motion Plus and changed most aiming in games to the motion control instead of IR they effectively ruined the aiming as well, the difference between Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword ... and then they didn't give you the choice to use IR aiming ... hell the didn't even give you sensitivity options, so the only way it worked well was to aim with your arm instead of just at the wrist ... so much for choice.
One of the best games I've ever played with an 'alternative' control method was Resident Evil: Dead Aim using the GunCon2, it wasn't an on-rail shooter ... you ran around in 3rd person and shot in 1st. Excellent game, ahead of it's time as far as that's concerned ... but then they failed to add that choice to the PS2 version of Resident Evil 4.
I bought gun accessories, the Sharp Shooter included, and none of them work as good as the GunCon2, or any 'light gun for that matter'. With the SS, you constantly lose calibration making aiming down the sights useless. With the Wii remote in a gun casing you can't even calibrate it in most games making it a useless 'aiming' accessory unless you like shooting from the hip or being off all the time.
I do really like the Hydra so far, as much as I don't like motion aiming, it works well and has a ton of options.

Speaking of motion controls, I won't be buying this just yet (going to wait and make sure the rift is good enough to justify spending another $500 improving the experience), but it's certainly on my radar. Not only would the immersion be amazing, as a side benefit you'd also get super fit.

If you are referring to http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1944625487/omni-move-naturally-in-your-favorite-game not sure how that would work in First Person Shooters. I know they mention mapping the motion from the device to the motion keys on the keyboard, but how does that work with increased intensity.. if I run on the device.. do I run in the game?
Are they going to offer an SDK or API to integrate functionality, and how many games are going to use it?

Supposedly it works like a controller/ddr pad [you probably still need to tweak it for each game]. And it should work in any game where rift has head movement.

Should be pretty simple. You tell it what the run button is (usually shift), and it "presses" shift when you're moving fast. You'd also need to tell it whether it's a run toggle, or hold to run. Same with the walk button, if you're playing a game with one. It inputs wsad depending on the direction you're moving, and the Oculus takes care of head tracking. I'm sure there's potential for greater integration if devs get involved, but they shouldn't really need to in order for it to provide basic functionality.
This is all off the top of my head, the actual product could work differently. But in theory, it should be pretty simple. I'm waiting for my consumer rift before investing in another accessory for it though, and it'll be good to wait for user reviews as well.

I am accustomed to playing games with Controller support that enables me to walk by slightly pushing on the stick and run by applying more pressure. Would have been nice if the faster you move (to a point) the faster the character moved also. Nice idea. Will see.. price is a little steep and until there is a Consumer Oculus I will just have to look at it wantingly.

Well functional, yes.
simple, depends on user.
Movement/motion needs to be tweaked per game. Headtracking needs to be calibrating, Turn left this much it needs to turn left this much etc. 1:1 movemement/tracking is pretty hard to achieve I'd imagine..
I definetly think you need to set up each game individually.
Im interested in getting one [For rift/hmz-t1] but Im worried I'd break the damn thing. Im actually a bit on the muscular side[Not what you'd picture I guess lol]. Im not sure how "resistant" to force this device is and Jumping seriously sounds dangerous unless I weigh it down. Even then im a bit worried. Im not sure if its a phobia or what but Im scared of something going wrong while blind folded.

Skyrim! ... ummm ... eff this! Quick travel ... seriously that is pretty awesome though. I just don't know how much I'd actually want to use it ... although it sure beats a treadmill. I couldn't stop laughing at the video though ... it just reminds me of grown men running around in baby walkers! I wonder if Among the Sleep is supporting it, perfect fit? I can just see the thing breaking and me falling on my Oculus Rifted face!

simple, depends on user.
