Future of 3D Vision Support (Official announcement from NVIDIA)
  5 / 42
Those are a very sad news! But still I have the hope (although very small one) that they will add some kind virtual 3d for VR-HMD and maybe there will be a possiblity to hack it somehow and use it for normal 3D-Vision. As for the future of stereoscopic 3D, If you DarkStarSword and Bo3b decides to write software, I offer my help for as a programmer. Just dont hesitate to tell me so. You must still have my E-Mail. Regards ColAngel.

I have just ordered a ex display LG oled 55C6V due to todays news. Can now need to search the forums to figure out how to do an EDID override. I have racked up around 140 hours in Batman Arkham Knight with the latest fix (Thank you DHR and all the shaderhackers) and it has been awesome. I am at 94% completion and spent a ton of time in the challenge rooms. Graphics are amazing (and to think this is Unreal Engine 3). I tried playing it in 2d today and I noticed that with 3d, picture quality is actually improved apart from the stereoscopic effect because the 3d vision glasses and the 3d monitor tech make for deeper black levels and the picture looks terrific compared to 2d. I recommend this game to anyone who has not tried it.

If there Was a 3rd party drivers writen Wouldnt that also mean better cpu utilisation also ? Indont know, i think there still would be many people willing to Support this kind of thing. I thinl the kickstarter might be a visible option. Especially Lets say you would also create a Support for VR headsets to be used to Play 3d vision games on a virtual screen. If i could put on a xtal ect what ever resolution hmd and Enjoy my favourite 3d vision games in it in the future when i find an good enough hmd to purchase i could put hundreds Atleast into supporting that kind project as i personally game in 3d or not At all. Offcourse i don’t have money to throw in the air but i always like to Support productive and close to heart Things.

Then change some bytes (see provided link) save it and eventually install the new edid via property of display... If you use Win10 you have to put it in special mode that allows you to install unsigned drivers.

In my wrapper, that basically implements all that 3D Vision Automatic does - to a degree - for OpenGL, I use the Intel Compiler in my wrapper. It provides better runtime results vs MSVSC on Intel CPUs and fallsback to "standard" on AMD (the equivalent of MSVC). The reason I use it however, besides the optimisations and better speed, is for features that MSVSC doesn't support on X64, like using Assembly code in C++... I know most people simply discarded or disregarded my work on my OpenGL to 3D Vision wrapper before, but as it stands, it shows one valid point: That we don't need the 3D Vision Driver for the future. I only relied on the USB controller driver (which can be installed on any version) and the rest I coded from scratch! Remember, there is no OpenGL 3D Vision support or implementation! Maybe in the future, we should do the same for DirectX11 and possibly DirectX12.

If it was hacked maybe. But since driver 275.XX the USB and stereoscopic drivers will not work with a newer driver release than what they were modified/intended for. Nvidia did this because of an emitter emulator that was being used to unlock the drivers for free. I started using 3D Vision about 6 months prior to this and experienced it first hand. I was using an emulator, because I had no idea that there were certified projectors and it was too late to return my projector for one of them. I stayed on the old driver for awhile and then bought a 3D vision kit.

Shocked by the news even though I could see it coming and have been stocking up on 3D hardware over the last couple of years. Also have been making sure that I have an offline version of my favourite games at a point where 3D is working as far as this is possible. (IL2 3DVision is being broken with every new update due to a lack of interest or knowledge by the developers) I have no interest in gaming without 3D and would be willing to spend the money I normally use for new games and hardware to help fund keeping 3D alive.
