A friend of mine just bought this TV which i have to say, is rather awesome!
He got a set of glasses with it and i took my PS3 round to see what it looked like running 3D games, and i have found that PC is way better for 3D gaming! PS3 games look ok at best but when they go to 3D they have had to turn the GFX down quite a bit and it just looks horrid :( the 3D effect itself is good though. Anyway i was wondering what i would need in order for my nvidia glasses to work on his TV? if at all possible.

Yup 3d tv play only.Use manufactor 3d glasses/compatible 3rd party glasses(only for hdtvs). Basically 3d vision glasses will only work with 3d monitors/projectors with 3d vision stamp of approval on it(minus some that can be hacked.) 3d vision is not compatible with any 3d hdtvs(minus some dlp tvs)

I see, so say if I were to get a 3D TV and play PC games on it, I would have to use the glasses that come with the TV and 3dtvplay together.

If you are considering getting a 3D HDTV, be sure to get Samsung 2010 model. Contrary to Eqzitara's post all 3D HDTVs are compatible with 3D Vision. However, Samsungs 2010 models are the only brand/year that allows 3D gaming in native resolution at 60 fps.

I think i will leave it until end of next year at the earliest, main reason i wanted to get one was to play PS3 3D as well as PC 3D, but now that i have seen PS3 3D with my own eyes its certainly nothing to rush out and buy a TV for. The GFX quality in 3D is just naff compared to PC (So much for the PS3 fanboys with their "Super powerful PS3"), and as there is only like 1 channel on Sky that has 3D, no other reason to get one yet. When trying my mates TV out i noticed there was an awful...AWFUL lot of ghosting, dont know if this is down to the TV or PS3 but after seeing a heck of a lot less ghosting on a monitor, think i will stick to that for now. Funny though because that TV supposedly does up to 800hz (i thought this would help erradicate ghosting).
The one good thing was the samsung glasses, i found them much more comfortable than the nvidia glasses, but they had a "cheap build" quality to them though which is not good if your paying £60+ for them IMO.

Well i think his setting was messed up ...
I saw PS3 3D on my brothers Samsung UE46D8005 and there was little to no ghosting and really good 3D effect (Movies looks INSANE in 3D on this TV) ?. Yes the GFX looks like crap, but ghosting NOPE ...
I think he needs to calibrate the TV, because it should be the LED on the market with less ghosting, according to the reviews ...

This is a fixable bug with the D8000 series Samsungs originally reported by AustinTex. Don't recall the details, but there's a setting on the Samsung that affects ghosting, and it is maximized by default. The fix is to crank down the default setting to around 15 or so, that will decrease the ghosting with no side effects. The 2010 Samsungs don't have this setting. Let me know if you can't find AustinTex thread,it's about 1-2 weeks old.
Sleeper,
Samsung eliminated checkerboard in 2011 except for two models, D7000 and D8000, so you're OK. Hang on to your set because starting in 2012, Samsung will completely abandon CB and make all sets that can do CB more valuable, especially because Samsung was the last holdout for CB. Starting in 2012, only ugly scaled 720P is possible for 3D gaming unless you have an older 3DTV.
