Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag 3D compatibility
  10 / 20
So far I tried every ini setting that I could find to disable them..un-doable.. Plus the game doesn't really looks optimized from my POV... The GPUs are there 99% used but no matter what I do I always get 30 fps (using the 331.81 drivers) which is kinda weird (Surround) I looked via nvidia inspector and there is a profile there...will try to tweak it some more;)) maybe I can get more performance somehow lol:))

Thanks
I haven't used it extensively at all, but I tried it with Bioshock Infinite a while ago, and found the experience disappointing. The halved resolution was very noticeable. And the performance was atrociious. Bioshock Inifinite is notorious for stuttering when loading a new area, but when I played in 2D on my GTX 680, the stuttering was minimal and I got an almost flawless 60fps. When I tried it in 3D with Tridef a few months later (now on GTX Titan x2 SLI....though since SLI isn't supported it's just one Titan), the stuttering was atrocious and my fps was under 50fps most times. Also, the 3D didn't seem very good to me, like the depth was way too low. In the end, I couldn't stomach the idea of playing a not-very-demanding game like Bioshock Inifinite on two Titans and getting halved resolution, stuttering, and mediocre 3D. But I don't mean to throw you off the idea of Tridef completely. It looked better in the other game I tried (Assassins' Creed Revelations). I will definitely return to it if a game forces me to (I'm waiting for helix's DX11 wrapper first). Tridef also has a lot of good options, where 3Dvision has depth, convergence, and little else. For example, Tridef lets you map the left or right view to your dominant eye. This would be great in shooters. Let me explain. In real life, if you look down the sights of a gun, you close one eye, which gives you a perfectly flat and linear view of your target as it lines up with your gunsight. In 3Dvision, if you try the same thing, you'll miss, because what you see out of one eye is a distortion of the scene (it needs to be combined with the other eye to make the complete picture). That's why many of the helix fixes introduce separate convergence settings for looking down sights (they basically flatten the image a lot, until it's closer to 2D). In Tridef with this feature, you can map one of the views to a certain eye, so that when you close the other eye, what you see is actually accurate. That would make separate convergence settings for gunsights (which I find a bit jarring) unecessary. It might also add to immersion, as closing one eye when aiming would be a bit more realistic. So, Tridef definitely has good things going for it. Plus, it's worth supporting Tridef simply for the fact that it's a company firmly devoted to 3D, which is more than can be said for nVidia.
Yes that is what I am using...I don't think is a Vsync Issue..since I manually forced the refresh rate to 120 via the ini file (initially it was locked at 60 for some weird reason) Also I notice that going down with the resolution improves the fps a bit from 32 to 35... Playing with other settings (setting everything on low from highest) nets me 40 fps which is also weird... The GPUs are 99% but I don't think the SLI profile is efficient yet... Migrating from a 331.40 to 331.82 made my FPS going from 15 to 31 so that is almost double and I can see the optimization there..but still is not "optimum" yet:)) This reminds me of Witcher 2 when was released : initially 12-15fps now 40+ fps (same GPU, RAM, different mobo and CPU but not a huge difference as prior to the update I was getting 35fps) I bet things will improve in the future. Another thing were I notice bad SLI scaling is when I turn 3D: going from 30 fps to 12 fps...which normally shouldn't happen... AC3 did this with the first drivers now I only lose 15 fps between the changing (and the FPS is around 45-50 in 2D).... again bad SLI profile;)

I dont know about the fps, as I have around 30-40 with everything maxed out (single 680) in 2d, with 3d it dips to 15-30, but when I set it to a mix of high/medium (like HBAO low, shadows medium smooth, goodrays low, etc) I have 45-55 fps in 3d, 55+ in 2d. V-sync doesnt change antyhing for me, framerate wise that is.

If only those shadows wouldn't be so annoying... I am rather curious on how did nVidia managed to disable them.... I bet AGAIN they were given a different build than the commercial one... I hate companies that do that... Giving specific builds for certifications and such and releasing a different crappy product...

It's really confused, how to disabled complett the shadows???? is that a wrong entry from nvidia??? in the past if nvidia ratet the game "good" we have a little issues but this GOOD in AC4 is crap!!! The best way is nvidia open all 3d Vision Tools for tridef because there is bad Support from nvidia now and in the future sorry for my bad english :)

But with time i learn to tweak those values in Tridef. The true is you can get the same results than 3D vision plus a lot of others options like you mention. Tridef is a very good software with a lot more support than 3D Vision. Here are some screenshots of COD:Ghost using Tridef: https://s3.amazonaws.com/dhr/Ghost_Tridef.zip And performance is almost identical to 3DTV Play 720p (Comparing with 1080p SBS/TB mode with Tridef). The problem here is in general Monitors have very bad stretch/scaling algoritms, so if you are using a Monitor maybe the results are not that good....3DTV work better for that job, there are design and build with those modes in mind. Today night i will test AC4 with Tridef (i start with AC3 profile)...i will upload some screenshots in .jps

I tried the ifirst 15 mins with 3d vision and you could see it has huge potential. You're able to play but the animated scenes are a big mess. Dont know bout tridef though, how do we load the the AC3 profile?

Why can tridef do a profile for perfect 3D and Nvidia 3D Vision shall not be able to do it? I can't get it. C'mon Nvidia, DO SOMETHING!

I think they can, but due to its design/business philosophy and therefore the resource to do profiles had not been allocated, after all they are a driver provider and expect developers to make use of the said driver to make 3D complied games. OTOH, tridef is a middleware provider and making profiles for games is part of the flow. I wish Nvidia would allocate extra resource to fill in this gap, but realistically I know it's wishful thinking, if they did anything, it would be just campainging harder with game developers, but I'm afraid even that resource had been relieved a long time ago (Andrew ?). Since 3D Vision obviously has been in limbo for a while, they are probably killing it off by letting it sizzles out by providing minimum support with no representative in this forum. It is depressing to think about 3D Vision future. Helixmod is the only hope I can see.
