iz3d Jumped the gun
So I've been trying all week to order via Nvidia's website.

The bundle and an extra pair of glasses.

I order, or Sunday.. shipment being processed. 4 days later, I find out my
order never actually went through.

So, I order again, except this time on the phone. They tell me they
don't have any extra glasses, so I just order the bundle.

Before the end of the phone call, they tell me there's an error and
they will have to get some of their people to look at it.
(Because I'm from Canada, and trying to ship within the U.S)

ANYWAY, after all that I'm really really glad I got such a hassle
because it has given me time to discover the IZ3d monitor.

I opted to go for that instead of Nvidia's 3d Vision for
several reasons;

The price. -It's a no brainer, come on, why would I spend 2x as much
to essentially enjoy the same thing ?

The tech. -Personally I feel polarization is easier on the eyes
than shutter technology. I really dig the natural feel of
polarization.

The customer support - I registered on the Iz3d forums and
I have to say the customer support is AMAZING !
These people are working DIRECTLY with customers
to make their product better. I don't see anyone from
Nvidia making an effort to answer my questions in a timely
fashion...

Anyway, I can't wait to get my IZ3d monitor.

I know some of you will flame saying it's no where
near the quality as Nvidia's offering, but seriously
I'm so glad I didn't waste my money on it !! They're
just trying to rip us off!

I can appreciate that you are having some challenges with customer service, and I agree that there are additional solutions in the market that are equally viable. However, I don't think NVIDIA is trying to rip you off. :magic:

Let's see how things develop.

I did some research on IZ3D's offering as well, but it doesn't fit my needs. The fact that the iz3d requires two monitor inputs turns me off to it because I run a multi-monitor setup at home (3 monitors and 1 DVI-to-HDMI to my HDTV) and I don't have a monitor output to spare. The Samsung 120 Hz only takes up 1 monitor output on my GTX 280, so my DVI-to-HDMI to the HDTV takes up the other, so I can decide to run games either in 3D on the Samsung, or games and movies in 1080p on my HDTV, without having to fiddle with my inputs. My other card is a Geforce 8400 PCI, so my two other monitors occupy that, and since its a weak video card, I use it for work purposes only. Having and IZ3D occupy two monitor outputs means that I have to run my HDTV out through the TV-out on the video card, and that only supports up to 1080i through component video, and I wouldn't be able to have the Iz3D and the HDTV on at the same time.

hi! I'll disagree with you but for a reason opposite to what you expected smile.gif I am a happy owner of an iz3d and I haven't read any comparison review to support your claims above. I play all sorts of stuff on it and really enjoy it, plus the lack of eyestrain. Furthermore iz3d plans to reduce the ghosting drastically with their new glasses (atm undergoing beta testing). thread:

The big word between NV and Iz3d is GHOSTING. I tried more than just one, two, three got to four and ghosting was the same. For ME it was just way to much. And this is not something that only a few have in it with IZ3D. But IZ3d is getting better but still not as good as Nvidia. IZ3d's new glasses will NOT be ground braking, you will still see ghosting. You can only do so much with the glasses. Their going to have to invest more money into the monitors to fix ghosting. And if they dont get better with their new monitors coming out it will only push more to NV or something else.

As for custamer service. Please most have no idea how big Nvidia is. Nvidia is not just 3D. And do you really think they care if you go to Iz3d?

Like someone else said.. I love the new Nvidias because hooking it up to my TV ..lol its HUGE

Hi Zeeblade,

MTBS is neutral and we don’t do hardware reviews. We want NVIDIA to be successful because I think they have a promising technology, and as was discussed at a joint panel with iZ3D, DDD, NVIDIA and MTBS, we have bigger fish to fry than to position these products against each other. We all want millions of gamers using these technologies, and this is not brand specific.

That said, I don't think your remarks are 100% factual. For example, check this out:

http://www.mtbs3d.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=2550

Given that this is just the first public revision, and there are more to follow, remarks discounting the improved image quality are not based on anything. Anyone who knows what the final revision will be like is more informed than me!

Also, “ghosting” isn’t the only big word to consider. “Brightness” is equally important, and the results will vary according to the type of display solution the LCD shutter glasses are connected to. I'm sure a lot of gamers are envious of your 3D HDTV solution! /thumbup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

For me, this is what matters most: NVIDIA has a viable LCD shutter glasses solution that will work with high refresh rate displays like DLP and 120Hz LCD. iZ3D has their own proprietary solution, and supports the hardware NVIDIA does not (e.g. HMDs, dual projectors, polarized monitors, ATI, etc.). Both companies have their display and software challenges that they will overcome them in their own way. However, I have not seen anything that would justify clear winner remarks for either side of the fence.

The only clear winner is the customer! Now we just need to find a lot more of them…
