GTA IV - Episodes from Liberty City looks good in 3D?

If shadows where fixed I would be happy, actually I'm not aware of any other issues, also indoor is perfect !
Here's some pic's, the last two is with low depht / high convergence which is not very pleasing.

There's speculation that RockStar might do a 10 year anniversary update for this game, it released in 2009. It would make sense to port it to dx11 for PS4 and XBox One for an easy cash grab. Who konws..
That could explain why OpenIV was canceled

To roll back the game for mod support

That could make sense - Thanks for keeping my hope for a fix alive :)

Don't get your hopes up too high, all I've fixed so far is directional lighting (daylight), point lights (night/inside shadows) are still broken and not quite taking the same adjustment. Plus reflections and other post processing effects like bloom are also broken. Can probably get it if I keep at it, but I've already taken to working on a side project (XCom2 DLC) while working on a major project (FFXV), where that side project was supposed to be a one day thing and has already turned into like 2 weeks of work, so I don't want to spend too much time on this right now, but I'll try to come back to this in a bit.

whoa, that looks sweet... might be worth an install just to drive around with shadows on...
the night shadows that are broken, you can turn them off in the options right?
Can't believe this is happening, that picture with fixed shadows, is a picture of my dreams :)
Truly one of the finest DX9 games ever, it will be a blast in 3D !
BIG THANKS for doing this DJ-RK, just take your time no rush, in the meantime I'll trim/ try out some mods, and post whatever I find usefull !
Looks amazing, crossing my fingers for a full fix!
All hail 3d modders DHR, MasterOtaku, Losti, Necropants, Helifax, bo3b, mike_ar69, Flugan, DarkStarSword, 4everAwake, 3d4dd and so many more helping to keep the 3d dream alive, find their 3d fixes at http://helixmod.blogspot.com/ Also check my site for spanish VR and mobile gaming news: www.gamermovil.com
Hmmm... for some weird reason the fix does not kick in as it should !
Have others tried it ?
I asume that shadows are fixed right after the first save, I walk out on the streets for the first time, and it's daylight, but the shadows are still in screendepht ??
Any specific settings, or is it the game version, I'm on 1.07 and 1.08 is the latest, 1.08 lacks support of most mods, but on the other hand I doubt that any shaders has been changed, AFAIK it's all about multiplayer!

Awesome, DJ-RK. Maybe in the fiture I'll play this again.
Blacksmith56, if the fix has any hotkey, try pressing it. In my experience some DX9 fixes don't work until I do that (I don't know the reason). For example with convergence hotkeys. If it doesn't have any, try copying the hotkeys and presets from other fixes.

It could be there are different directional lighting shaders used by the game. Most games only use 1, but you never know. Could be from using a different lighting setting than I did (I used Very High on all settings), or a different shader for a different time of day/weather/location. I basically started up a new game and fixed the first lighting shader I was able to come across after saving (since Helixmod is annoying and forces you to relaunch the game to edit any shaders you dump), which was right after going back to Roman's apt and sleeping right away to progress time forward. Maybe try doing that just to confirm if that works, and again, I'll try to come back to this to look further when I got a bit of time
GTA IV is about to turn ten, so some of its music licenses are expiring

Might want to make backups, in case the new music sucks :P
Just a reminder, back up those game files, the music patch is very soon, on the 26th
Steam now allows games to be played in offline mode and will not update it when doing so. But online, automatically updates when you launch the game
I tried this, but for some reason my FPS was staying around 17FPS no matter what I did. I'm sure that I can resolve it when I go to play it, but I can say the shadows were fine using Steam 1080. I only went to the apartment and then back outside.
