Final Fantasy XIV 3D Vision fix (Possible??)
  6 / 16
Well small update to those who are following this thread. I am in the process of fixing the skybox day and nigh skies.. I have most of the day done and so far the fog day sky looks good. altho I did not need to fix the fog.. vut you can see some clouds and those should be fixed.. I just ran through a bunch of day shaders that included the sun and its rays with some day clouds.. there where 2 sets of clouds and both needed a fix from what I saw so those are done.. I will need to finish up on the Day sky and then goto the night sky.. This is for the Win 7 fix I will need to go through the Win 10 version later tonight.. Hopefully I can get the skyboxes done and set to infinity ;)

Well I just finished modding the fix and I think I got both day and night skyboxes fixed now.. I just checked and the night sky looks good.. The new version is 1.7 and I will be uploading it in a few minutes.. so yes the Fix was a wip but I think it is finished well as best as I can do ;)

I do have another question and it is about the ingame mouse pointer.. I was unable to fine either a PS or VS Shader for the mouse pointer.. how in the world would I make it 3D?? there is an option for a Software mose but it looks no different other then it is white?? Perhaps there is a shader for the software mouse I bet that is it will look at it tomorrow.. thnx all ;)

Usually in those cases, we just disable it. The software mouse should have shaders you can find and move to different depths. It's also worth trying the Nvidia laser cursor with F12. Some games it works great.

You somewhat have the answer in your post: hardware mouse cursors don't have shaders/can't be modified. If the game actually has an option for a software mouse cursor, then there might be a shader for them. If so, then my suggestion would be to treat it the same way as you did the nameplates, but maybe use a different constant and preset key for that so you could change the mouse depth independently from the nameplates.

Yes I found the shader for the software mouse and set it too depth with a convergance cycle key.. so v1.6.1 is up and should be final for me.. unless someone sees something else not right.. Hopefully this covers most all the bad shaders..

Well moving on I was trying to get the Win 10 version all fixed but I ran into a snafu.. It seems the ASM files and screenshots are not being saved when shader hunting.. I am unsure what is going on buy I checked the d3dx.ini and it looked fine.. I can cycle through the shaders just not save them.. I hear a thud sound instead of a high pitched tone like befroe that is when I knew the file was saved.. this is strange it was working last time?? I shall check the 3D Migoto site.. but was wondering what would cause the ASM files not to be saved??

The low thud/boop sound usually means it did not Decompile properly. The ASM saving does not happen as part of shader marking though.

Well funny you said to check the log again I forgot about that but when I went to check it there was No log present?? well if it did not decompile properly does that indicate a problem with the game install or migoto itself having an issue?? IT worked a few days ago and saved both an ASM and screenshot of the files??

The reinstall did not fix the 3D Migoto not saving the files.. I am unsre what else to check maybe a few different version but not sure that will do anything.. this is not good If I cant save the files I will not be able to fix the win 10 verision..

I tried about 5 different version of 3D Migoto and none of them where able to save the txt files or screenshots.. I even tried the 32bit version of 3D migoto but that did nothing.. I could use a hand for someone to test this on their machine and see if they can save the files with 3D Migoto v 1.2.27 Win 10 64bit.. that would help narrow if they did an update and broke something or it is my PC..

We log everything under the sun, and especially errors. No need to guess. On PCs in general, people adopt the habit of just trying random things until something works, but for programming and debugging there are just too many variables to use that approach. I like to encourage people to use a more directed approach of collecting data, trying to understand the problem, and not try to jump ahead to the solution. In the top section of 3Dmigoto, set calls=1. That enables logging. BTW, we put extensive comments in the d3dx.ini to try to make this sort of thing more clear. It's on by default for any fresh release off the website, so you must have disabled it previously. We disable them for releases, because it costs performance. Whenever you start a fresh game, always use the latest release from the github releases section, don't use some random dlls from a prior fix. Those dlls will be out of date, and the d3dx.ini will likely have game specific junk that confuses things. As a general rule for 3Dmigoto, the latest version is always the best one. Unlike HelixMod where there are bizarre and inexplicable variations between them, and it's worth trying multiple versions. Not sure why it would be different behavior on Win10 for Decompiling, but there is a lot of complexity. The log is where we can find out what's up.

OK but that was the trouble I was not even getting a log file but I will go and check it again in Win 10.. I been trying to fix the Win 7 version first as I screwed up the last version I made but I got it now I think.. Thank you for your comments and will do.. and sometimes I just post notes here to keep my head straight ;)
