Street Fighter 4 has no 3d in the in-game cutscenes yet the benchmark does
So yeah, after setting up the benchmark version of sf4 to have a ton of popout for the in-game cutscenes while maintaining nice convergence in the actual fight, I was annoyed to see the actual retail version of sf4 can't do this. It seems the new profile for the game locks all in-game cutscenes to 2d for the characters and 3d for the backgrounds. We can't rename the exe, either - it's hooked into the game launcher.

Can anyone figure out a way to get 3d back into the cutscenes? That was the best part of this game in 3d!

Huh, you mean the story line thingy that opens when you select your character ?

That's in 2d because it's animated..

but the rest of the game is in 3d for me, even in game cut scenes...

I'm talking about in-engine cutscenes. Clearly the animated cutscenes aren't in 3d.

You know, when a fight starts and the characters say some stupid crap to each other? Take a closer look - the characters have no separation, while the background still does. Then when the fight starts, the full scene has separation. Now fire up the previously released benchmark - you'll see that those same in-engine cutscenes applied separation to everything, not just the background. This used to allow for some sweet pop-out stuff.

Which is mysteriously missing from the retail game.

You can actually watch the transition between 3d models to 2d models after a fight, as the camera zooms in towards a character. The game isn't switching to 2d models, obviously - it's the 3d vision profile used for this game. It definitely doesn't happen in the benchmark.

Has anyone noticed anything differently?

Yeah, it seems to have bad convergence. The images converge when they're still kind of far away so you don't get any separation when they're close to the camera. It would be nice if they reverse-separated so they would pop out of the screen, but that would have to be coded in.

The game still works awesome in 3D and surprisingly has very little ghosting. I use <60% separation because of the bad convergence, though. Any higher and the background is too separated and looks out of place when fighting.

Yet another time I wish Nvidia would make with the auto-convergence already, or at least more properly adjust and tweak the profiles so the convergence is better......OR at least give us the option to change it in-game......

Yeah, I actually came to post this, the game looks just unbelievably good in 3D... the environments look so awesome especially after some tweaking. The way I have it setup, they do pop out of the screen a little bit though.

I was reading this and wondering are you guys using our built-in convergence settings? Do we allow you to configure your own per game convergence settings and then save them. Have you tried that?
