Haven't used the PC to UHD50 for a while and now I can't get some things working again.
Trying to get Netflix working with HDR, but can't seem to get to HDR settings on Win10 anymore. The options aren't there to set Win HD Colors.
That is the only way to get HDR from Netflix on Win10, correct? Something like MadVR would only work with movie files, correct?
Also, any idea why 4K native resolution only shows up now as 30Hz top?
I am running a 1080 GTX. Not sure what happened to cause the issues. I am running Monoprice certified cables.
Edit: to answer my own questions. I messed around a little more and fixed this issue. My AVR has two HDMI Outs to the UHD50. I just now set the Receiver to only outuput to the 4K input on the projector. Now I can set Win10 HDR settings and also set resolution to 60Hz. So, even though I had the Proj set to the 4K HDMI 2, Win still limited the resolution to the HDMI 1 and non HDR. Unless I disconnect the HDMI 1, by setting the AVR to not send a signal to it.
I will try to remember this for next time, lol. Too much for mind to keep track of when I don't use it that frequently. Been mainly using HDMI 1, recently to watch DVR through a DARBEE device.

I did a few tests over the weekend, coming from the Optoma HD27 the Optoma UHD 40 is very nice and sharp!! So far happy with it! I did not notice any problem while using the 3d vision 2 glasses, 3d blu-rays work fine with powerdvd18 as do games in 3d. Also it is quite large :D so will have to rearrange some furniture.
However I noticed 3 issues i am not sure if hardware related, did anyone experience the same so far ..?
[olist]
[.]screen tearing horizontal (see gif) not sure why, when i change resolution back and forth the tear moves downwards and eventually disapears, any idea why this is? -> https://imgur.com/a/p4Rplbh
I am not sure regarding this issue as it could be grounds for sending it back, any idea?[/.]
[.]sekiro shadows die twice HDR, when i enable it in the game the screen turns into a greyscale or depending on the resolution instead of greyscale it just looks "washed out" ... [/.]
[.]color space YCbCr 444 does not seem to work with 120Hz resulting in the projector "looking for source" but when i change it back to 60Hz, the source is found (using 4k port btw)[/.]
[/olist]
Those 3 issues i have not investigated yet, will post if i can clear any of it ..

Hello,
I just bought a UHD40 and I tested some games. At first the game in 3D did not work at all, I had to reboot my PC.
Then I did some tests and I had a lot of problems with games that work well in 3dtv play on my Benq W2000 +. So these are the games I tested and that have various problems:
- Rise of the tomb raider: The 3D works but there is a cut in the middle of the screen that splits everything that passes on it.
- Metro 2033 Redux: the 3D does not want to launch, when I press the 3D button it indicates not supported.
-Middle earth: shadow of Mordor: full of purple ghosting everywhere.
-The lord of fallen: Desynchronization of glasses all the time
-Kingdom Come: Deliverance: the picture is flashing all the time and we see everything in duplicate
-Elex: same Kingdom Come: Deliverance
The only two games that have not had a problem in 3D are Fallout 4 and Dying Light. All mentioned games works on my Benq W2000 + in 3DTV play
I have not found in the topic of people who had problems with some games, I am the only one? I have a Geforce 2080 Ti with drivers 419.17 and Windows 10. Driver problem or other?
The interest of this video projector becomes very limited if most games do not work in 3D and as there is no 3DTV play, there is no alternative.
I will continue to test tonight but if you have ideas, I thank you!

@ZeGURU69
If there is a vertical cut in the middle of the screen, it can be that the 3d is inverted (not sure how you call it)
You can adjust 3d with the remote and select the option " 3D sync invert"
Or switch to the other Hdmi channel, and back again.
I have Rise of the tombraider and Middle Earth and both don`t give a problem (ghosting wise)
For the desynchronization switch to other Hdmi channel and back again, or enable/disable 3d
Had it sometime`s in Iracing, where it would change eyes every couple of seconds
Also it helped for me (depending on game) to switch to 119hz
Also now i think of it, make the projector the primary screen and disable monitor.
Had some weird problems with that but that was also with the benq 1070
As for drivers, still running Win 8.1 and a gtx980 (so can`t help you there)

Hi ZeGURU69,
I tested some of the mentioned games tonight and was able to reproduce some of your issues.
Metro 2033 Redux:
The game launches with 60hz - so the image is flickering and 3D cannot be enabled. Ingame there is no option to set 120hz. So what to do? The solution is to disable fullscreen optimizations (that's an ugly new Windows 10 feature). Right click on metro.exe -> Properties -> Compatibility Tab -> tick option "Disable Fullscreen Optimizations".
Elex / Kingdom Come Deliverance:
The game also launches with 60 hz. But this time it's not due the nasty fullscreen optimizations feature. I guess you have your desktop set to 4k / 60hz? I think the game just adopts the desktop refresh rate. It can be fixed by setting the desktop to 1920x1080 @120hz before starting the game.
Lords of the Fallen:
Runs fine for me. What do you mean with desynchronization? Eye swapping? If the latter is the case then please look in the FAQ on page 1. You can fix that eye swapping bug by changing to HDMI 1 and after that back to HDMI 2. If you mean with desynchronization that the glasses completely lose sync then it's an issue with the glasses - not with the projector. Look in FAQ for recommended glasses in that case.
Rise of the Tomb Raider:
I haven't installed that game right now but I think to remember that the line comes from the "3D sync invert" feature of the projector OSD. That's the reason I wrote in the FAQ not to use this as it is buggy. If eyes are reversed turn off / on 3D via remote control until the eyes are synced in the correct order. Typically you would press CTRL + T several times but I think Rise of the tomb raider didn't like that key.
Especially for Elex and Metro 2033 Redux you might think that it's pretty uncomfortable to change desktop resolution to 1080p every time or disable fullscreen optimizations and I agree. I think both issues do not exist for Windows 7 and 8.1. Only Win10 is affected.
Good thing is that we can automate everything via 3D Fix Manager to make 3D work out of the box for all games. Also we can go back to 4K desktop resolution automatically after closing a game. I will update the FAQ accordingly tomorrow how to do this.
Btw I didn't have your issues so far because I have set 1920x1080 @120hz on HDMI 1 all the time while for 4K I use HDMI 2. Also I had set to disable fullscreen optimization for all games in 3DFM. So I wasn't aware of the issues you currently have. Good that you reported those here!

This looks pretty cool! Quick question - how come 4K doesn't work? I've got the LG C6 and 4K 3D works, how does the output differ? Or is it just cus it's 120hz

There's no standard for 4k 3d and it's certainly not something that this projector supports.
The LG works purely because it's a 4k passive (line interleaved) display. I can't point you in the right direction but I think you should read up somewhere on the various ways 3d displays work and how that relates to the 3d hdmi standards. Things should become clearer then.

Thank you very much for these answers :)
@Pauldusler
I did new tests yesterday and it was much better: Rise of the tomb raider works quite normally, Elex and Kingdom Delivrance also works while I confirm that I was in 1080p / 120 hz yesterday. The 4K HDMI port does not work with my HDMI cables. Like yesterday, I rebooted my PC that the 3D work.
It's been 8 years that I use 3D Vision on video projector (Optoma HD67n, Benq W1070 and Benq W2000 +) and it's been a while since I'm waiting for a video projector compatible 1080p / 120 hz. My thanks to Paul for sharing this information!
Regarding Lord of fallen eyes are reversed every 30 seconds, I have not found a solution ... I have a button on my glasses to reverse the eyes but I have to press every time.
Metro 2033 redux actually launches in 1080p / 60 hz but oddly enough I managed to launch in 3D but it desynchronized all the time.
I tested two other games, Outcast Second Contact and Ghost of a Tale without any problems.
I also tested Andoer G15 glasses and personally I find that there is more ghosting on my other glasses DLP (I have 5 pairs in all). It's possible that I do not have the same glasses ...
But despite these positives, I find that synchronization with glasses is much more difficult than with my previous video projector. On rise of tomb raid, I removed for a few seconds the glasses and then it was very difficult to find the 3D, I had to restart the game 2 or 3 times before it comes back. I think the Optoma UHD40 is 3D Vision compatible in a completely accidental way.
Finally, I hope to find solutions and I will come back naturally to this forum to share my discoveries (I hope) or my problems. The 3D vision community is really great and I'm not close to letting go of 3D for a long time despite the fact that it will soon be the end ...
@ frank.binnendijk, I used a Benq W1070 for a long time and I did not have so much trouble with the DLP glasses. I had desynchronization but only on very clear images.

Yes, 4k@60hz requires new cables. I also had a high quality HDMI 1.4a cable but it only worked in 4k@30hz. For 1920 x 1080 @120hz the old cables should be still good enough.
Sounds for me that with "desynchronization" you mean that the glasses randomly lose sync and you see a lot of ghosting then. I mainly use the Andoer G15 and the Cinemax Wave Xtra series and I didn't run into trouble with sync issues yet. Do you lose sync with the G15 as well? Then this issue is really not normal and maybe you got a bad sample of the projector. Also even if syncing works for a game it wouldn't be normal to see ghosting with the Andoer G15 - they are the only DLP glasses which are 100% ghosting free. I tried a lot of DLP glasses and in high contrast scenes all other DLP glasses showed ghosting.
Although not having sync issues I also rarely run into eye swapping issues - switching from HDMI 1 to HDMI 2 and then back fixes it. A Wndows restart also fixes it.
Do you use 3D Fix Manager? Have you configured the app like described in the faq?

Thank you for that answer.
Yes, I use 3D Fix Manager, it is too convenient. Everything is set according to the FAQ but I just saw that you indicate that the option "Regular 3D Vision (frame sequential)" unlocked a key in the game What is it? I did not find.
Today I did some testing and I had no problem desynchronization. I think I had a lot of problems at the beginning because I used with the W2000 + the 3D TV Play which requires that the games are set on 60 Hz (at the link of 120 for the 3D Vision).
I also managed to run Metro 2033 Redux by disabling vertical synchronization in the game (but forcing it into the drivers). I also had once the screen cut in half and to solve this problem must reverse the 3D Sync on the video projector. Have you ever had this problem?
The only recurring problem is that sometimes the eyes are reversed every 5 to 20 seconds. I had the problem on Tomb Raider Underworld, Lord of Fallen and Metro 2033 Redux. For the first two, the problem was solved by leaving the game to restart it but for Metro, I had to stop the video projector so that the problem disappears finally. But I think I'll meet him again and I have no idea where he can come from.
I also looked at the menus of the VP and in display mode I found that I was stuck in Users mode and 3D, everything else is grayed out (when the 3D is activated) and in 3D mode only when the 3D is disabled. That makes me have some menu that are grayed out. It's strange, you have to use the HDMI 4K to have all the features?
I saw that there was an ISF mode in the display modes. On Benq W1070 / 2000 + I used it (there were more options) but it needed a code to unlock a menu. On the Optoma there must be a hidden menu and it would be interesting to have the code to unlock it.
Thank you very much for your feedback!

I continued to test and did not encounter any new problems with DLP synchronization or eye reversal. It will be necessary to see if that comes back.
I understood why I could only select 3D or user: in fact, it is necessary to adjust the frequency to 60 Hz in Windows so that the other modes are accessible. On the other hand, the mode of the lamp is always gray and I can not put it in eco mode.
This has not really been emphasized in this forum but I find that the ultra detail mode is really fantastic. The fact of the activity sharpens the image and seems to add a lot of detail. It transforms a game like Tomb Raider Underworld.
I compared the image with my W2000 + and the difference in quality is really impressive with this option enabled!
I also noticed that my 3D Vision pyramid - which I've been using for many years - now always displayed bright green, a sign that 3D is on. If I disconnect or I restart the PC, it remains bright green in any case. But it works anyway.
Paul, you say that you have connected the 2 HDMI outputs of the video projector, you have connected to your PC? Nvidia cards only has one HDMI port, a DP / HDMI adapter would work for 3D?
In the information menu on the video projector, you can have the firmware version in the "fw version" tab. Me, it's C04 for the system and C02 for the MCU. It would be interesting to know if there are several versions on the market.

I would just be wary that with this installed it may well get picked up as a 3dtv play display, so you might need to use an EDID, but I don't know and don't have the projector. Also hopefully these extra modes are in addition to frame sequential rather than replacing it!

Interesting, I wonder if there are some other improvements! I wouldn't upgrade it if it strips frame sequential! You can watch 3d blurays from your pc just fine as it is :). Not to keen on sending the projector to optoma for an upgrade just for that.

However I noticed 3 issues i am not sure if hardware related, did anyone experience the same so far ..?
I am not sure regarding this issue as it could be grounds for sending it back, any idea?
Those 3 issues i have not investigated yet, will post if i can clear any of it ..

The LG works purely because it's a 4k passive (line interleaved) display. I can't point you in the right direction but I think you should read up somewhere on the various ways 3d displays work and how that relates to the 3d hdmi standards. Things should become clearer then.

@Pauldusler
