Shadow of the Tomb Raider

Just tried and I also had this issue. The flag ID_0x70ccb5f0 is also called "Stereo Misc Flags". Afaik it controls whether 3D Vision uses "Direct mode" or "Automatic mode". By default the value of this flag is set to 0x00000400 now which means that the Automatic mode is taken (which looks surely broken). So all the 3D Vision lines of code the developers added to their game aren't used any more lol. Good job Nvidia xD. @msm903 thx for figuring out how to fix this! I'll add a NIP profile in 3DFM for setting that flag to the correct value again!

New guy here. Subscribed to this thread. How do I download Nvidia Profile Inspector? Just clicking on it doesn't work. As suggested I replaced the latest driver 418.91 with 417.35 and now my SOTTR 3D works nicely again. Thanks guys. Of course using 3D my FPS is cut considerably down to 25-45. W/O 3D it's usually around 100.

Maybe servers are temporarily down? Nvidia Profile Inspector is also bundled with 3D Fix Manager. You can download it here. When starting games in 3D the app uses Nvidia Profile Inspector for installing the driver profiles. You recognize this when a dialog message pops up asking you if you agree installing the driver profile. In the folder of 3D Fix Manager there is a subfolder "Nvidia_Profile_Inspector". Here you can start the inspector manually if you like.

Finally had time to play the DLC "The Price of Survival". I could not observe any 3D issue in the 3 new areas. So I can recommend it. IHMO the best SOTTR DLC so far.

Yesterday a guy told me that Shadow of the Tomb Raider works in 3D Vision + DirectX 12 after updating to the latest Nvidia drivers (419.17). He said that exlusive fullscreen must be disabled in the launcher. After that "Steresocopic" can be set to "On". I followed these instructions and started the game but it was completely broken in 3D. It seems to use 3D Vision Automatic mode in DX12 which makes no use of the 3D optimizations the game developers implemented. I also tried to set StereoMiscFlags to 0x00000000 via Nvidia Profile Inspector which makes 3D work in DX11 but results are still the same. Has anyone more luck to make this work in DX12 + 3D Vision? (NOT side by side!)

Don't believe that's possible. I found I need to use 417.35 drivers, set my refresh to 120hz (on the PC and the game) make sure "stereoscopic 3D" is checked on in the Nvidia control panel. Test then play the game. DX12: off, Fullscreen, 120hz. Green light turns on and she works good. Also make sure your glasses are fully charged.

Do you still have to modify the profile to get everything to work or is everything fixed? Using the latest nvidia driver.

BTW: Shadow of the Tomb Raider works in DirectX 12 + 3D Vision. I just got it running. All credits go to Олег who told me how to make this work! Thank you very much! Here is the proof: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yfFxnHFN2q4 -> Tested on both drivers 418.81 and 419.17-> both work. Probably older drivers also work. However DirectX 12 + 3D Vision only work for game version 1.0.237.6 which was released in November 2018. The issue: Steam won't let you revert the game to version 1.0.237.6! So if you want to use DX12 + 3D Vision you sadly have to get the game from unoffical corners of the internet ;). This is very annoying because we paid a lot of money for the Steam version and can't use DX12 + 3D Vision there. I tested all available old versions in Steam and this are my results:
[.]build 241 - not working[/.] [.]build 243 - not working[/.] [.]build 247 - not working[/.] [.]build 260 - not working[/.] [.]Current build 270 - not working[/.]
So here are the steps to make 3D Vision work in Shadow of the Tomb Raider in DirectX 12 mode: [olist] [.]Download the game. It must be version 1.0.237.6.[/.] [.]Open the launcher of the game and set the following options there:[/.] [.]Set exlusive fullscreen mode to "Off"[/.] [.]Set DirectX 12 to "On"[/.] [.]Set Stereoscopic 3D to "On"[/.] [/olist] When starting the game and the monitor starts to flicker or the 3D Vision glasses don't sync then you have to delete the 144hz resolution of your EDID via CRU. Otherwise SOTTR tries to launch the game in 144hz which won't work for 3D. SpecialK didn't work for me in SOTTR. I just did a comparison between DX11 and DX12 performance in the large city: 35-40 fps in DX11 vs 57-60 fps in DX12!!

 • build 241 - not working
 • build 243 - not working
 • build 247 - not working
 • build 260 - not working
 • Current build 270 - not working

So here are the steps to make 3D Vision work in Shadow of the Tomb Raider in DirectX 12 mode:

 1. Download the game. It must be version 1.0.237.6.
 2. Open the launcher of the game and set the following options there:
 3. Set exlusive fullscreen mode to "Off"
 4. Set DirectX 12 to "On"
 5. Set Stereoscopic 3D to "On"

I thought 3D doesn't work in dx12. I thought the nvidia driver had no DX12 3d vision support.but it seems that this was not a problem. then why do they force us to dx11, that is not understandable! the game developer needs to make a statement. maybe nvidia did not legally allow it. there may be an agreement between them. i don't know who i should be mad at :D

The guy who told me about 3D Vision + DX12 working had also "Stereosopic" set to "off" ingame (but "on" in the launcher) and it worked anyway. Maybe just a cosmetical bug. He also could move the sliders for separation and convergence. Maybe Helifax can inform Nixxes that the game is currently broken for DX12 + 3D Vision. He might have still good connections to some developers there. A statement would be also very interesting. Otherwise we could just use the official way for reporting bugs. But that might get ignored.
