Portal, in "normal mode" 280fps in 3D Vision the same scene and settings 35fps? What is wrong? (gtx295 + lcd monitor)
[/quote]
Checked to see if the 3d laser thing is off? I was playing around with portal last night
and with 3d on laser off runs fine (didn't check fps) stuck the laser on and i notice it
starts to get jerky :C didn't really see any benefit of having it on any way.

No I do not have nvidia laser sight active. Portal has its good spatial sight.
I guess that it is somehow related to forced vsync in stereo (which is not on 3d tvs as I saw and which can have fps > 60 and do not have this degradation).
This performace degradation in 3D Vision with monitors is problem (I noticed also that multigpu is not scaling in Portal as well as in many other games) because it makes hardware upgrades worthless.

Actually the sight in portal uses the nvidia driver to make it dynamic.... which is kind of dumb. Try turning the nvidia crosshair off anyway and you'll see that portals crosshair will no longer be 3d. And it will run smooth.

You are probably right. I was very surprised that sight is spatial for such a old game (when in new games they are not capable of implementing it correctly).
I will try it and I suppose that fps will be 60.
However this Nvidia sight algorithm is unacceptable in current implementation together with 60 fps lock. I suppose they are having Valve time in Nvidia (only with difference that they are not probably planning to repair it).

Ok, so it was the Nvidia laser sight® in action, without it it is 60 fps.
It is beyond ridiculous how this laser sight is implemented, game that has normally gazzilion fps has 20 fps with laser sight?
Vsync is also unnacceptable in stereo. This issue is known for a long time and had to be corrected also a long time ago.

In the time when the GPU is waiting for the monitor-refresh it will calculate the next frame. Without Triple-Buffering it wouldn't do.

Unnacceptable? But you need VSync for creating a Stereo-image-pair. There is no other way - you have to wait for the monitor-refresh.
