That fixes the HUD, but breaks the skybox again. Interesting... Maybe I'm gonna try a few different profiles myself later.

maybe you didn't notice the skybox problem before because of low convergence? are smoke, steam, coronas etc actually at the right depth with the dx9 renderer?

You are probably right about the skybox. Guess it was broken all along. Sprites and, as far as I can tell, everything else looks perfect. It's only that damn skybox now...

afaik the skybox in ue1 and ue2 games is literally just a small box, a lot smaller than the map. it might be possible to modify every map with the unreal editor...

Thanks for the tip, but that's a little more effort than I meant to put into it. I wouldn't even have bothered in the first place, if I hadn't seen people claiming that it looks perfect (though dated) in 3D in the first place. And yes, I remember flying around Unreal levels back in the day and the skybox was literally a small box placed somewhere on the level. You could actually go in there.

Are you def playing deus ex 1, not 2? Can you possibly upload 3d images of the issue. I just booted up the game, put convergence as really super silly, skybox stays exactly where it should be, right in the distance. I am pretty damned sure I didn't have one noticeable skybox issue with deus ex 1 (although the same couldn't be said for deus ex 2). You def don't need to modify every level. Maybe new vision fixed the skybox? I really would download it, and get your specs up to mine. It really was worth the replay, it was is a great game. EDIT: What is really weird is that I just checked the profile, and Deus Ex 1 is currently running on Deus Ex profile.... confused as I definitely deleted it and it worked.

If you want to play this game, I would start again from scratch. - Delete and re-install Deus Ex - Install new vision mod 1.5 (has kentie mod etc all included) - Contact me via PM with your email address, I will send you the dx9 file (one which I know works) - Copy the exact settings I have posted on the other screen into the deus ex.ini in your user folder (not deus ex folder as that doesn't do anything) - Try game, and if hud is wrong remove the deus ex.exe from the deus ex profile using NVidia inspector. It really does work perfectly, and does not require any other tweaking once it's going. 25 odd hours of great 3D action is worth the 15 minutes more it would take you if you do the list above.

Yes, I know the difference between Deus Ex 1 and 2 ;) I just finished the statue level again and arrived at Battery Park. Now I paused to see if I can get 3D running before I continue. Updated the drivers, didn't help. I also still have to use the Hitman: Contracts profile to get the HUD working. I followed the instructions here: http://www.moddb.com/mods/the-nameless-mod/tutorials/improving-deus-exs-graphics-with-mods And that's where I got the D3D9 renderer (only the renderer). Is there another? I was wondering, did you actually try it without mods?

Sorry, was just checking :-) Yes I tried it without mods, I remember everything worked 100% fine. I found a few different dx9 renderers. I can't remember where I found the one I use, but I'm pretty sure it was a deus ex fan site, not mod db, and it was a different kb size. But my deus ex as it stands has normal skybox (right out where it should be) and the hud is always at screen depth. Good luck!
