Problem with JustCause2 after using 3dVision
Hi ,
i hope this is the right place to post.
After i enabled 3D in the control panel JustCause2 will only start with 3D on.
When i disable 3D in the Control panel it crashes on start even if i never played it with 3D on.
When i turn 3D of on the USB transmitter the performance of the game is still bad as with 3D on.
Reinstalling the Display Driver helped as long as i leave 3D off.
Once 3D Vision is first time turned on JustCause2 will not start anymore without 3D Vision turned on.(plus the bad performance)

Any help is welcome.

Same problem here... Not sure when this started. I "solved" it by going to Steam and "Verifying Integrity of Game Cache", but that's a bit drastic. I am using the 290.53 beta drivers.

This game has real problems anyway - I used to get great performance (2d and 3d), then at some point (driver update or game patch) the performance dropped off the charts - I just did a test now by setting resolution to 640x480, turning off every special effect and making all options "low" where appropriate, and with my Phenom 2 X6 at 3.8Ghz with dual GTX 570 running in 2d or 3d it never goes above 25 FPS, ever. If I can be bothered I might roll back drivers to see if that was the cause.

I did some more investigations by rolling back drivers:
- 270.61 OK (performance wise and running in 2d)
- 275.33 OK
- 280.26 OK
- 285.62 OK
- 285.79 (Beta) OK
- 290.36 (Beta) FAIL
- 290.36 (Beta) with earlier PhysX version FAIL
- 290.53 (Beta) FAIL

So both problems - performance tanking at 25 FPS, and the game crashing when trying to run in 2d after running at least once in 3d - started with 290.36.

The 290.36 Beta driver did the following:
- Updates PhysX System Software to version 9.11.11.07 for the best PhysX experience in Batman: Arkham City.
- Enables NVIDIA Surround support for Intel X79 SLI-certified motherboards.
- Added or updated SLI profiles for Crysis 2, Heroes and Generals, Inversion, Stronghold 3, and Syndicate.
- Adds support for 3D Vision over native DisplayPort 1.1 connection - available on BenQ XL2420T and BenQ XL2420TX monitors
- Updates HD Audio driver to version 1.3.9.0
- Fixes random flickering as Windows boot logo is loading or fading away.
- Fixes corruption in Crysis 2 with SLI and lower quality shadow settings.
- Fixes ability to set Surround resolutions to 5760x1080 using custom resolutions.
- Fixes some random instances of triangular artifacts when playing Battlefield 3.
- Fixes corruption seen in Settlers 7 with 275.33 drivers
and the 290.53 Beta driver did the following:
- Optimizations for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
- Adds SLI profiles for Trine 2, WRC 2: FIA World Rally Championship 2011, and Afterfall: InSanity
- Fixes issues with Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 not launching into 3D Vision mode
- Added new 3D Vision laser sight /crosshair options to better match The Elder Scrolls Skyrim crosshairs
- Fixes some random instances of triangular artifacts when playing Battlefield 3 (fix is now enabled for GeForce 400 and 500 series GPUs).
- Fixes a default panel resolution/ timing bug in 290.36.

**** SO - if none of the above bother you, the ROLL BACK to 285.62. ****

I play Skyrim at the moment, and I will say that despite the claims for perf increase above, the 270.61 driver gave me a 3-4 FPS increase over the 290.53 driver measured at the same point looking down the steps from Dragonsreach (ensuring the same scene by loading a save game there). I did not do the same with 285.79, I will do so later.

Just tried this and verified the same thing you guys are seeing. I've never gotten great performance with JC2 though, but was only getting 35-40 just now. I think its another one of those multi-platform/console ported games that needs the Skyrim optimization treatment.

In any case, I went ahead and checked the standard game profiles and there's nothing that's changed going back to the R257 drivers. Profile below is the same in 290.53 also.
Profile "Just Cause 2"
ShowOn GeForce
ProfileType Application
Executable "justcause2.exe"
Executable "justcause2_f.exe"
Executable "justcause2_r.exe"
Setting ID_0x00a06946 = 0x000020f5
Setting ID_0x1033cec2 = 0x00000002
Setting ID_0x1033dcd3 = 0x00000004
EndProfile
It must've been something in the 3D Vision profile or the driver itself so hopefully this is fixed in an update.

Nice! /thumbup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Fixes the poor performance in 3D, or not starting in 2D, or both?
