Andrew, if it'll help (Samsung DLP)

Here's the EDID information for the Samsung HL61A750, it's in Rich-Text format.

Excellent idea. I will also add info that might help with the debugging process for engineering to this thread, starting with this:

1- Even in 2D, when selecting "Setup multiple displays => Samsung" (Samsung as the only monitor), the screen goes completely black and error mesg shown on the Samsung black screen "Mode not support". The only way to get back is to hit ESC or wait for it to time out and revert to the previous mode.
2- Only when I set dual monitor in Windows 7 via "screen resolution" panel that the Samsung can be used in dual monitor mode (in 2D) via "Setup multiple display => Samsung + Dell check boxes". NOTE: The Samsung DLP never was detected when it's the only monitor regardless of what's setup is via Windows' 'screen resolution' control panel.
3- And of course, in S3D mode, using stereoscopic wizard, the Samsung DLP is never detected.
4- CD 1.15 detects the DLP cleanly and consistenly every time when reinstalled.

The emphasis here is that the 1.15 CD display detection algorithm works well for the Samsung DLP. (Hint: Might try to duplicate that piece of code into the later driver instead)

NOTE: In my post, Samsung means Samsung DLP TV and Dell means a regular 60Hz LCD Dell monitor.

In dual Display mode if i change to normal samsung syncmaster i am able to choose generic DLP in the wizard. I think that was the method before 1.20 version to workaround the problem. In latest driver Version this works again, but if i change the display to Sammy DLP 3d Vision is unchecked in Control Panel. If i dont change back to Sammy DLP i am able to see the checkerboard pattern on my not suported 60 hz LCD. So its working but unusable.

I have 2 280gtx in sli mode, tried all dvi ports, all the same, not recognition of my Sammy.

Hope that helps, would be good to use latest display driver in future, because of sli additions.

If anyone wants to pull the EDID info from their Samsung display, use this program:

There is definitely something wrong with the way the late drivers (ie. all drivers that are later than 1.15CD) interact with the OS' display management and it's pretty "violent", after some switching between the LCD and DLP as primary display it would cause my DLP to lose audio completely when switching to TV mode and only a hard power off (ie unplug) can restore it.

Note that the 1.15 CD never has this problem at all even after reinstalling more than couple dozen of times already. Engineer should do a quick "diff" between 1.15 and the latest driver to repair the display detection code in the later driver.

Great thread, I PM'ed Andrew the link, this is the kind of stuff we should be able to do short of the unrealistic expecation that somebody local to Santa Clara, CA or Austin, TX responds to work with them locally.

Not sure why Nvidia has not responded to why this is happening and I have notified Andrew a few times as well explained it publicly in the forums.

Andrew, I know why this is happening and when it started.... contact me when you guys are sick or throwing shots in the dark to the problem.

Signed,

Suggest this to be made sticky so 'engineering' + Andrew can find it easier.

I've PMed Andrew my number... I live 10 minutes from the Santa Clara office and work 5 minutes from it. If he can supply a truck or means to transport it... I can allow my complete setup to be used for testing for a week or two (will have to deal with using a PS3 and a 23 inch TV though)... ha ha ha Sending my 67incher will be as saddening and happy as sending a lil one off to college /kissbye.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':kissbye:' /> :'(

Just stop with EDID detection Nvidia and stop with the 3D screen detection.
Bang problem solved.

Should be as simple as a drop down menu and select what you have.

Discover
CRT
DLP
120hz screen

Why do you need to detect the screen, the market is about to be flooded with new screens projectors etc and your telling me users are going to have to wait for precious Nvidia green team to lift a finger each time.
Look how bad it all is now with only select screens on the market, really wish you luck with that future battle.

Listen to you users man for the last time LISTEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm jumping ship as soon as there is another viable solution and which isn't as locked down as this piece of junk.

I think the whole idea of "detect and control" displays is to make money. Every manufacturer who wants its displays to work with 3D Vision will have to pay a fee and can we blame Nvidia of wanting a return of its investment? One thing is certain though, Nvidia should have some more resource to better deal with this "detect and control" scheme. So far it looks like Nvidia is paralized. No engineering capacity, no quality control in driver testing, fumbling around for a whole 3 months with one simple detection bug. It is so obvious that it doesn't even believe in its own business direction due to extreme poor execution.

IIRC, the drop down menu and user select idea was used by Nvidia's old driver already with every possible format at the time, up to 2006, when Nv abandonned free stereoscopy support.

I'm sorry I missed this time of open 3D gaming, now the games need too much grunt so I can't even consider the good ol days with those video cards and drivers unfortunately.
Back when Nvidia were real men hey :)

I suppose I would be good to go with movies however as I have an old 7600 card and P4 which would handle that nicely.
About to get some wireless EDIM glasses cheap I think which would complete the package.

I just can't believe Nvidia though, I have been ranting all day on few posts :)
Right at a point where 3D is about to explode this year and they are making very bad business decisions and will very quickly get overtaken this year on all aspects of stereo gaming or video with new glasses, screens that don't need some crap detection, projectors again no detection, console gaming and bet your lefty ATI aren't sitting by idle on this.

I'm thinking ATI has aligned with LZ3d perfectly.
So the driver should work great, then next step get DLP link glasses which don't need an IR sender (I could finally play in the daytime) and finally try and hold off long enough to settle on a nice big juicy screen or projector.

Hi All

I am setting up a Beta driver program for any DLP users who is affected. I have reached out to about 4 of you already and sent some paperwork so we can move forward.
