3d vision wizard resets resolution on Optoma GT720
Hi All,
I just purchased an Optoma GT720 projector. It fully supports 3d and optoma says it supports Nvidia 3d Vision. I have the projector running at 120hz @720p...the problem is that the Nvidia 3d wizard always resets the resolution to the native resolution of the projector (1280x800)...and the projector can't do 120hz at that res.
I have looked through the posts on this forum and tried the registry edit for CRTs (no luck) and the optima HD66 driver (no luck) but have had no success.
The system seems to only want to give me R/B not stereoscopic.
I am running the newest 256 beta drivers.
Any idea how to get the wizard to not change to the native resolution? Is there a way to tell the nvidia display driver to not display any resolution above 720p?

I recently purchased the GT700, which aside from a slight variance in the lumen count, is essentially the same projector.
It's possible to get the projector to display 3d but requires a fair amount of finagling. Essentially you need to use the CRT method, but rather than a reg hack, you need to install your own driver.

It's pretty much the same as he said except you can't use his driver since it's for the HD66. It's possible my driver (64 bit vista) will work since the projectors are so similar but if not, you'll need to install Rivatuner and generate your own driver beforehand.

The key here is determination. For some reason, it doesn't work the first couple times but on my 3-4 restart after installing the driver, the 3d vision setup program ran in 1024x768@120hz. Once the setup program had completed, I was then able to run WoW and other programs (as long as they weren't windowed) in 3d using any resolution (with 120hz) that was listed in the Nvidia Control Panel.

Why not just use the Acer5360 monitor driver like I discovered, does it not work with these Optoma series?
If you use the generic CRT method do you have to wear the glasses upside down like we did at first with the HD66/HD67 ?

I tried all the files and no dice for my GT700 and 3D Vision... His file did work though. Thank goodness.
I was hella surprised none of the other files worked, I expected them to work.

Senator32, have you tried Fireuzer's driver to get the GT720 to work?
Optoma support told me that in order to get the official 3D vision support, I have to send in the projector (via the RMA process) to get the firmware updated... /fear.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':fear:' />

You may be able to find one here or on the AVS forums. If not one can be created pretty easily. It's a .inf that installs as yoru windows monitor driver.
