Yes you are able to buy and import from New Zealand. A couple of your Countrymen have already done so.

Put me down for head-tracking built into the stereo driver not the game and not head-motion-mouse-control either. The driver already shifts the virtual cameras left and right, there's no need for the game to be involved. This way all s3d games would work, not just the few that are specially programmed for head-tracking.

I would also like dual projector/monitor mode to be available. Two monitors, a couple of mirrors and some space and you're good to go. No ghosting, no dimming, no flicker, nice sharp image. OK there are problems with every setup. This one could have a sweet-spot issue as well as a secondary reflection issue but still it should be great. I'll be working on this setup next.

Head tracking is unnecessary because there are other mature products on the consumer market such as TrackIR that accomplish this. What I would like to see is support for devices such as the Emagin z800. This is a feature that was previously there and now is not. It's ridiculous that I am considering buying iz3d drivers when I already paid for the technology from nvidia but they decided to lock down features. I mean, what is this, a verizon cell phone?

I disagree. I looked into TrackIR and Freetrack and they are not exactly what I want. They are good for games that have been made to use them but I want it to be good for all 3d games. For non-TrackIR games they must emulate other controllers or mouse which can be OK for some games but there are many games where the mouse does not control the camera. Also mouse camera control is often for turning and not lateral virtual camera movement. With lateral head tracking built into the driver, all 3d games could work great in that regard, not just some and if you're lucky. I think the nvidia stereo driver should use TrackIR/Freetrack to get the input, but the function should be in the driver, not the game. We shouldn't have to depend on the game to be specially programmed for it when that's not needed.

Ahm, Stereo Photo Maker has support for checkerboard (to find in the interlaced group near other formats).
I'm using my Samsung 3D ready Plasma TV with this viewer.

UPDATE: Nope not working for me. Are you using 3DVision or other shutterglasses? What driver are you using? Nvidia or iZ3D?
I'm runninng Nvidia 3DVision, finally got the 3Dvision photo viewer working again after a few times going back and forth between old and new drivers. But Stphmkr refuses to work for me.

Any way, to unhijack this thread, I'm going back to the main topic. What is the most desired feature of 3DVision?

- I think allowing windowed mode S3D is also high on wish list.

I don't know if anyone has said this or if it is already possible. I'm using the old 162.50 stereo drivers because they're the latest that work with the windows version and card combination I have, GeForce 7800 GS with Windows XP SP3. What I want to see is a way to reverse the left and right images with a hotkey. Or to swap the red and blue because in some games the 3D is reversed, also in some screensavers. It would be nice to be able to swap this with a hot key. I know the anaglyph colors can be swapped around but not with a hotkey combination. With iZ3D you can just keep shifting the convergance beyond 0 into the negative side so you don't need to be able to swap left and right but Nvidia convergance stops at 0. Not only does iZ3D's convergance do that, but you can press alt + F8 to swap the right and left images around. Being able to flip the red and blue in anaglyph is what I need because all I use are the cheapo glasses. Probably ruining my eyes but I can't afford the higher end polorized glasses right now.

Ah yes sorry, I have both nVision and iZ3D driver with old wireless ELSA Revelator glasses (which have a VESA DIN connector fitting for 3d ready DLPs/Plasmas) and in fact I'm using iZ3d driver with Stereo Photo Maker.

That would be awesome but take an fps for example. If the game does not have a different "head view" than "gun view" then head tracking would be emulating the mouse anyway. Games would have to be programmed to allow for the independent head view ( like Flight Simulator X in virtual c.o.c.k.p.i.t). It's just that theres not even a perfect 3d vision game so having programmers incorporate some headtracking code is even less likely IMO. I don't understand how the game wouldn't have to be programmed for headtracking. Please elucidate.

OpenGL support, head tracking are great ideas.
But really for me, at least for the moment my most desired feature is fricken' software that
developers actually optimize for 3d vision.

Hi vrekks, cool username.

OK, normal headtracking means you can turn your head and the camera turns in the game and if it's a 1:1 ratio, then you can turn your head 70 degrees and roll your eyes in the opposite direction to keep looking at the screen and see the 70-degree off-center-view. Yes, a game would need to be programmed for that but that's not what I'm talking about. I'm mostly talking about side-to-side motion but let me explain better. Let's say you take the screen out of your monitor and replace it with an open cardboard box like a diarama. Stick your cat inside. Your view is 3d and you can get a different perspective on your cat by moving your head around. That ability is one of the reasons it looks totally real. This is the kind of head tracking I'm talking about.

Now acknowledge that you can get one of your eye-views in an s3d game to look around a corner as you increase separation/convergence and it should be clear that the stereo driver can/does move the virtual camera sideways. It should be able to move both cameras sideways in the same direction to match your head movements and that should make the 3d even better. I would like sideways movement as a minimum but up/down would be good too for looking over the edge of a cliff or something. I think that would be really cool... moving your head to look over a cliff or around corners. I'm not sure if roll should also be implemented but in/out would be cool too. These things should be user-selectable / configurable as people will have different tastes.

You're right that games not programmed for Freetrack would emulate a mouse or joystick but if a program IS programmed for Freetrack then it does not do that. So if the stereo driver is programmed for that kind of input then it would not emulate a mouse/joystick.

I think that's clear but I'll talk more if you want. I would like to see a contest between nvidia, iZ3D, and Tridef. First one to implement this idea wins.

You can take your cat out of the box now. /thumbup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

PS: I wonder if that would screw-up the aim of your crosshairs. Maybe but not if you were using the auto-ranging lasersight or were playing with alot of pop-out.
Also the HUD should not get bigger as you move closer to the screen, but in a FPS you should be able to get a good almost-side-view of your gun though by moving your head to the left and turning it right.

PPS: I did some searching/reading on iZ3D's forum and found this Youtube video. It shows what I mean perfectly. Well, except that you wouldn't need such a wide range of motion. Just some or a good amount. You could call it limited range head tracking.
