Mortal Kombat XL Now Released. (new characters/costumes have some broken effects)
  1 / 2
To my absolutely shock. I find this quietly released on steam tonight with little fanfaire and after they had been on record that development had ceased on the PC version and it had become incomplete abandonware. After playing tonight, it seems the old fix works well still, all the new characters looks like have been added. (leatherface, Alien, ect.) Think anyone can try it out this weekend. Netcode is extremely good and as close to offline play as you can expect. Night and day difference from the current release which I consider unplayable online. DJ-RK, any desire to apply some of your newly aquired proficiency at updating this fix? Looks great apart from shadows.

Sadly, I already did revisit on a few occasions trying to fix shadows and AO in this game after I learned the ropes, but there's something VERY different going on with them in this game, and I couldn't figure it out. I'll see about taking another look, but am not very optimistic towards it.

Ah ok I thought this might be the case, game still looks awesome without the shadows and AO. Although I notice now there seems to be some character depth problems on the character select screen. Would be best waiting for official release anyway as at this point you can only search for an online player match in the beta

Just wanted to shed some light on the matter: Ed Boon (Founder of Netherrealm Studios and Co-Founder of the MK-franchise) is a Twitter monster and he also maintains a very strong connection with the MK-fanbase. A couple of weeks ago he asked the fans via Twitter which MK X-related news they would like the most. http://www.mortalkombatonline.com/content/News/read.cds?article=2621 As you can see the poll favoured the release of Mortal Kombat XL for PC including GGPO for improved online gaming (the inclusion of GGPO would explain the significantly better Multiplayer-performance you mentioned). But I have to admit that I am quite shocked (in a very positive way) how quickly the XL-version emerged (although being in Beta-state only right now).

It's good man. Never had a better time with this game. Ed boon is redeemed in my eyes, and it looks like we are getting console parity after all. Plays like a dream online, will be interesting to see what happens when it comes over to the main game I hope the community comes back. Too much fun. My sub zero hasn't lost yet... why are people who play NRS games such babies? =( lol I hope they have adequate rage quite punishment because I have seen it more on this game than anything else, and now you can't blame poor netplay.

Game came out yesterday, the online netcode and balance patch is free but the Characters must be purchased. Game runs better than ever and I didn't really play the game in 3D initially so I am not sure if anythings been broken. Definitely seems like some characters effects are broken. (triborg in particular)

So far it looks pretty fine to me in 3D. Couldn't make out anything that seems to be majorly broken!

Triborg and one of raidens costumes are pretty broken in terms of particle effects There is significant haloing still in some of the stages too. (but I'm sure he is already aware of this bit. Great update though the game finally works online...

Actually no, haven't even been able to fire up this game yet to look at it. Hope to be able relatively soon, just got a couple new projects on the go that I want to finish up first before picking up anything else, so providing me with a report of broken stuff is definitely helpful and appreciated! One person mentioned on the Helixblog page that they were unable to change convergence at all. Can anyone confirm if this is the case or not? (I kinda expect it isn't)

Hi I'm having an issue with 3DTV Play in this game. I have Windows 10, GTX 970 (Driver Version 375.70 released October 27) and I'm using a TV (Panasonic Viera). When I try to play, the biggest problem is that the image is different for both eyes. The characters are transparent and when I start a match the previous screen (character/stage select) stays on as an image. I put screenshots (Alt+F1) on Imgur. One other person seems to have the same issue but we can't figure out a fix. Can anyone help. Also, Street Fighter V and Metal Gear Solid V work fine. http://imgur.com/a/ux4nn

And you have definitely installed the fix here? http://helixmod.blogspot.co.nz/2016/01/mortal-kombat-x.html As I reported this game may be a bad example for you as it still has some issues. (as I have reported here) and you must turn Shadows and ambient occlusion completely off. There still exists some haloing in the game on certain levels and character glitches. Also the reason why you are seeing issues on the character select screen is because they are simply 2d images. But the issue you are reporting here is weird. At this point I would be looking at a complete driver reinstall using the latest driver and DDU. Game is working fine for me.

I started off posting there and that's where another person seems to be having the same issue. I ended up here because it doesn't seem like it's the game or the fix that is a problem. It seems like something unique to my setup. I do have AO and shadows completely off. But, at the same time, the other individual seems to be able to switch to compatibility mode. I can't even do that. And my problem isn't that the character select screen is messed up. It's that the character select screen stays in one eye when the match starts.....the character/stage select screen won't go away.....I don't know what the heck is going on. I tried a clean install of driver 372.90 and that didn't help. I haven't done the DDU. Do you think that really could be the problem???
