I already detailed all the things I tried to get TriDef working but without luck. I am glad some of you are able to get it working and it really frustrates me that I cannot. For the rest of us we are glad Helix is going to fix the game - at least as much that is fixable with his mod. Being able to play Far Cry 3 -=HeliX Ready=- will be my Christmas present this year.

Is there anything we can do to help HeliX with the fix?

Anybody know a way to just completely remove shadows all together from far cry 3? I was playing far cry earlier in 3d just checking it out and it seems like it would be completely playable atleast for me if shadows were gone. Wouldnt be perfect but atleast it would be doable.

The whole idea of fixing Far Cry 3 is to increase the immersive experience and a game without shadows will completely remove that crucial element for you! I'd wait for a fix from the devs, unless Helix is fixing the DX9 version.

We can pray. I would assume Helix is going to take a look at it and assess it, but may find it is too much of an undertaking for a good will effort. Far Cry 3 has a lot of shaders and 2d HUDs and things to go through from what I've read. Still Helix has done pretty well in the past. Replayed Dead Space and bought Dead Space 2 because of him.

I'd rather have depth than shadows. Until I got a computer good enough for 3D and modern games I had to disable shadows all the time anyway, but I agree it would detract from the atmosphere just not enough to ditch them if necesarry. I keep thinking of Nintendo when you had that round shadow beneath you to show where you were in relation to the ground and they wouldn't have needed it if it were stereoscopic somehow.

@zzzz111: I agree with You. Shadows aren't crucial to me. It is more natural to look with both eyes at a landscape with ocercast sky and no (distinct) shadows than to look a sunny scenery - with one eye glued. If it isn't possible to fix the shadows (which of course is the best option) I would prefer to remove the shadows, replace the clear blue sky with an overcast texture and play in S3D. Risen 2 is an example that a tropical scenery still can offer an immersive experience in S3D even with disabled shadows.

I think Helix is having problems with some indoor lights, i try the debuger with the game in dx9 (before start playing with Tridef) and i dont found the shader for that light issue (VS or PS)....Shadows, for the screenshots Helix upload are OK... Tridef have the same indoor lights issues, yesterday i play a part in a cave (remember indiana jones movies) that have that light issue and was very annoying, fortunately is not all the time (cant be removed changing "Lights" to Low in video options).

To 3D we have to wait better drivers from nvidia.

Agreed! An amazing open world game with fun scripted events that seem random. Oh the Hang Gliders! Props to Helix and eqzitara & nvidia vision in general, release the coded tweaked or removed shadows, even as an alpha. I have had fun with Far Cry 3 how about you folks?
