Two displays from one card in clone mode (only 1 3D compatible)
I have a projector and plasma, only the projector is 3D compatible (Acer h5360)
I currently use a HDMI switcher, but this will no doubt make my pc uncompatible with 120hz and also 3D vision (which will not recognise the splitter as a 3D device)
Can I have them both plugged in to the card via the two DVI ports (in clone mode), but one being sent out at 120hz and the other not.
I will never have them both on at the same time, only one or the other, but manually swapping is not really an option as my PC is tucked away.

yeah you can select refresh rate for each indivitual display. I have a 60 hz monitor along side my 120 hz. And you can have them both on at the same time, although there is a slight performance hit in 3d mode. :)

do you happen to notice if there is a performance loss to having the 2 monitors running?
As I say, one will only be on at a time - but just wondering whether theres a standard reduction for there being 2 outputs. (e.g. because it has to render both screens)

all gpu's can run 3d in windowed mode, its just its not widely used. the nascar showing in 3d was used on internet explorer with silverlight and that was an embeded video on a webpage so the rest of the screen and page was 2d apart from the video which was showing in 3d

I'm not sure about geforce cards allowing the user to use dualview while stereo is active "fullscreen" on one of your 2 monitors, and allowing you to use both monitors still???? anyone?

Yes it works but.....
I usually end up turning off my 60hz monitor when running a 3d game. I can't get the two monitors to refresh at exact multiples of each other, so the "60Hz" monitor flickers maniacally through the glasses when they activate.
Also since you can only run 3d in fullscreen mode, you can't do anything with the second monitor while running a 3d game on the first (other than look at it).

I usually have my cpu,gpu temp monitoring programs, and windows task manager on the other screen to keep an eye on those while gaming, or have the media player going, music, movie, whatever.

So that's the big limitation to g-force 3D vs the quad buffered stereo from a quadro card and a windowed stereo app. I use both screens and can have multiple stereo windows open simultaneosly on the 120Hz one... with attribute tables, mediaplayer, discussion forums/email/... one my other screen.
