3d Stereo in DualView Problem setting up 3D stereo
I have a dual monitor settup with a quadro fx4400 and i am trying to get setup to do some VR testing through Matlab. I need to have matlab running in normal windowed mode on my main screen -- and the second screen (which is a sharp stereo lcd monitor) needs to be in full screen mode with stereo enabled. Is this possible to do and if so how do i do it.
I can get the sharp monitor to run in full screen mode with stereo enabled when it is the only monitor active, but when I add my other monitor, I can no longer enable stereo when I go to full screen on the stereo monitor.

Sorry I didn't see your post sooner, and you're basically in the same boat as I am, except I'm using a 7800GT and the 78.01 driver set. The Sharp readme file states that the monitor can only be used in single-monitor mode, which sucks since it's not great as a regular display.
I had to do a workaround where I used the nView profiles to set up a standard dual-monitor display setup and a single-monitor 3D setup. Then I installed a handy app that adds a context menu item to the My Computer icon that saves and restores the icon layout on the desktop (since changing between single and dual monitor rearranges all the icons.)
So when I want to go 3D I select the 3D profile and when I'm done I go back to the dualscreen 2D profile. That's about the only thing you can do, unless someone has discovered a better way?
What's annoying is it's all a software issue - there's no technical reason why it can't work it's just that either Sharp's or nVidia's 3D Sharp support code was written to only work with one monitor. :(
I've been meaning to try out the Sharp monitor support in the latest Linux drivers and see if that supports multiple monitors in 3D. Would be a good reason to switch to Linux for gaming if it worked.

Hi DavidMP!,
You have stereo working on dualscreens? Which method are you using,
not shutter glasses? Some details would be very interesting!
Thanks

I'm using a Sharp 3D display, which only works in single display mode. Shutter glass should work in Dualview, though most games only let you run 3D on the primary monitor. (And I can't verify it for sure other than the fact that I see the 2 eye views flipping back and forth 30 times a second since my old Elsa Revelators don't enable when the DVI digital output is being used.)
To get the Sharp to work, the only way to do it (as of now) is to disable DualView when you want 3D. It's simply a matter of taking your current DualView setup, going to the nView Properties panel, select the Profiles tab, click on New, then give it a name.
Then you need to switch to Single-Display mode and repeat the process. Then you can easily go between DualView and Single View (for stereo 3D) by right-clicking on the nView tray icon and select the profile you wish to use.
Optionally, you'll need a program to save and restore the desktop icon layout since switching between DualView and Single Display rearranges the icons. I use Icon Restore 1.0.
