Right way to install 3D Vision Drivers?
  1 / 2
Hello, i cant seem to get the 3D Vision working at all.. When i go to install the 3D drivers that i got from Nvidia's site all 3 of my screen turn off at the begining of the driver install.

I've installed the latest drivers for the Nvidia 480GTX SLI and the cards work perfectly in 2D surround with my 3 Acer 3D LCDs.

I've read the guide in the forum and the instruction manual to remove any graphics drivers before installing the 3D drivers?? This part dont make sense to me. The lastest Nvidia drivers i've installed said are 3D ready?? So do i not need to install any seperate 3D drivers? Install the originals off the included disk?

Whats the correct driver install order or whatever.. Confused as all hell.

Yes you need a seperate 3d driver that is compatible with the latest video drivers.

The easy way,is to download this driver http://www.nvidia.com/object/geforce-3d-vi...hql-driver.html and install that...
It contains both video and 3d driver.

Don't forget to delete your old video driver(s) first and a reboot,if you want to do it right...

Btw the driver is for win7 64 bit.

Yeah, i had that at first.. but reading on here i thought i had to also install a seperate 3D driver.. so i did that and it turned all the displays off durring the begining of the install.. So then i read to download the lastest 3D install CD and remove only the nvidia display drivers. Reboot and run the newest CD drivers off the drive. First install the graphics drivers then reboot. Then it will automaticly run the 3D install wizard. Done that.. and verified everything was working right.. even though it was real damn slow at loading all the tests durring the wizard. 3D was working.. So i try out Batman right away and no 3D.

Hit the button on the front of the 3D IR emitter and nothing.. the light is green and dont turn off if i press the button.. it just stays green. 3D isint working. Tried messing with the configure wizrd again and all my displays went blank again. :(

So i've now totally uninstalled all the nvidia drivers and the 3d device.. gona try again.

It must work with the cd drivers..
But use only the cd ,not any other extra driver, till you know what your doing.

Uninstall/reboot..install-reboot etc etc

Correction.. the first time i installed the cards without the 3d kit i just installed the latest geforce drivers 258.96.

Welp.. this is seriously driving me crazy. I still get the error at the end of the 3d install part. It says:

Error in stereo driver, NvAPI_Stereo_IsActivated()returned 0 after stereo was enabled by defalut with settings- ->setDefaultStartupMode(true).

???

The only thing i can get to work in 3D is in the nvidia control panel under the 3D stereo setup.. If i hit on the test 3d stereo button the huge NVIDIA symbol works no problem.. If i select anything else like run the wizard or run the medical whatever test it will take forever to load and them when it does its only on the screen for a whole 10th of a sec.

I've also tried downloading the batman 3D picture and that as well will run for a 10th of a sec and turn off.

If i run batman 3d wont turn on.. the light on the emmiter stays dimm green. I've tried hitting some of the short cut keys to turn on the 3d or bring up the suggested 3d settings and nothing comes up.

???

Also before i tried installing the graphics drivers the last time, i uninstalled all the drivers for NVIDIA and control panel ect. and rebooted and rebooted again before installing the newest 3D cd drivers.

So whats the problem?? Driver conflict as in something left over thats not getting removed? How would i go about making sure theres nothing left in Win7 Pro?

Dont want to but am about to reinstall fresh if needed.

Welp the last time i tried to run the medical screen test it just blanked all 3 screens and turned off the left screen.. I could not get it to turn the screens back on. Even tried turning the screens off and back on. So i had to once again hit the reset button to reboot. This time i'm going into safe mode (first itme in Win7 :) ) and gona see if i can remove the drivers from there and start over once again.

Yes everytime i'm using the newest 3D CD that is on Nvidia's site.

I remember someone else getting the same message like you do.
Don´t remember what he did to fix the problem, but I´m sure someone else can help you out.
