I've wrote a few articles here complaining about these annoying GHOSTING effects. I was using samsung 21' CRT(a little old-fashioned), and tried EVERYTHING I could but it was of no help. I couldn't remove or ignore GHOSTING.
I was very pleased for the 3Dvision for the first time but as soon as I noticed the ghosting, it never could be ignored, so I couldn't focus on games.
I threw the glass somewhere and forgot about it(but I couldn't forgot about my money on it).
But for a week ago, I got samsung 2233RZ (120Hz LCD) and tried the glass once more.
I was so sick and tired of ghosting on CRT and I wasn't expect too much for new LCD but..
THERE WAS ALMOST NO GHOSTING on 2233RZ.
Of course, there are about 5-10% of ghosting, compared to the that of CRT
but you can't notice it if you don't search for the ghosting in the very front of the screen.

Indeed, some say that CRTs have less ghosting, but that certainly isn't my experience or yours obviously.

Just as a point of argument, ghosting on the 2233RZ is completely game-dependent. That is to say some games ghost really badly (Mirror's Edge), while others show no sign of ghosting at all (Aion). I really believe it's a lot more about the drivers/pre-sets than about the LCD hardware.

Yeah I have the samsung 2233RZ (120Hz LCD). Really only play on that now. This monitor is the bomb diggy. Ghosting really isn't that bad. Once she gets warmed up I barely notice with the depth around 50% in most games.
With the DLP though... I assure you I run every game at 100 max depth and I can jack up the convergence so that EYE in the Test can come out of my TV like 15 feet if I Stand back far enough, with no ghosting. :magic:

Not to make anyone feel bad since I obviously get to test all of the hardware...the DepthQ and ViewSonic projector setups are pretty amazing. While the resolution is lower, just seeing a 3D image projected onto an 8-10 foot wall is amazing!

I actually did that with my old DLP projector with my e-dimensional glasses and it was pretty cool. Played a lot of mechwarrior 4 with one of those huge saitek controllers. Also played through boiling point which was a total treat.
I imagine that the new tech looks awesome. My next living room screen is most certainly going to be 3d capable whether it's projector or normal hdtv.

It's more related to how much white is on screen rather than a driver issue. DLPs have much less ghosting apparently because they're darker and that makes it easier for the glasses to block their respective images. The ghosting I've seen with my 2233rz in certain white games like Mirror's Edge and Portal is pretty damn bad because the 2233rz does not allow you to use anything but 100% brightness in 3D mode, which can be alleviated very slightly with certain games that allow you to lower the brightness in-game (though most of the ones I've tried don't let you lower it by much). Games like Left 4 Dead which are set at night and are abundant with dark colors work nearly flawlessly with the 2233rz.
I've got a DLP TV coming pretty soon and I'm psyched. I can't wait to have something that allows me to change the brightness and have a more pleasant experience with less ghosting, not to mention that 60" screen :)

Andrew, I am not at all envious!
I'm interested in getting one of these projectors to play s3d games and a few movies.
In the UK, i'm not sure of the availability of the viewsonics yet but i know I can get a depth q or I could always import one.
In your opinion, is the price difference of the depth q worth it? I do really like the idea of the higher resolution.
I read on this forum that DLP does not render text very well, what's your opinion on that?
Would hate to shell out for a depthq and find that text is not very readable.
Would anyone know of a link to a review to either of these projectors when used with 3d vision?
