Batman: Arkham City in 3D Vision

I have to search forums around the net just so I can somehow enable 3D in some display menu that I have no idea how to access. There is no manual, and I am totally pissed off at this game for making me do this. REALLY dissapointing.

I just downloaded tha manual and there is no desplay settings at all. No 3D, no display control whatsoever aside from brightness. wtf? I was under the impression this game supported 3d. wtf is going on?

There is a separate .exe file in the binaries folder that is used to configure the video settings like enabling 3D, AA settings, motion blur, etc.

THe driver 285.62 is the latest driver available for the 580. The 285.79 is a beta that I'm not sure will work with my card. The one I am currently downloading doesn't say specifically if it is for the 580 or if I am downloading a version for some other card. Hope it works.

Dude, it's probably a seperate configuation tool that isn't found in-game. Arkham Asylum was exactly the same way so calm down... I'm sure it's there somewhere. Try right-clicking on the shortcut icon and see if there is an option for "launcher" or something like that. You can also browse to the actual game directory I'm sure it's in there.

This will be my first DX11 capable game - Can someone tell me what 'MVSS' and 'HBAO' stand for? And Andrew, have any info on what's wrong with the DX11 settings? I just spent $1200.00 on a system to run this thing at max settings and I've scheduled vacation time for a complete play-through this week with two other guys. Sure want to know if everything's gonna play okay...

Nothing. No program files anywhere. Right clicking only gives me the "option" to run as administrator and that just starts the game up normally. I'll calm down when I can actually enjoy this game. According to the online manual, there is no display menus at all. It says nothing about it anywhere.

In your games folder, right click on the batman icon and select launcher. Now change your settings.

There is no "games folder" to be found on my computer. Is there a path to this mythic folder?

MVSS = Multi-View Soft Shadows according to Nvidia's whitepapers. http://developer.nvidia.com/nvidia-graphics-sdk-11-direct3d

"Multi-View Soft Shadows (MVSS) is a contact-hardening soft shadow rendering technique based on averaging hard shadows from multiple point lights. The Knight model used in this project has kindly been provided by animedia PM at Turbo Squid and can be found here."

HBAO = Horizon-based Ambient Occlusion, basically a better version of SSAO. Very performance expensive though, its generally the first option I disable if I'm not getting the framerates I desire which is often the case for 3D Vision.

I just tried to upgrade that beta driver. It didn't work, and now I have no 3D at all in any of my games. This is fun.

Start Menu > Games in the shaded area along with control panel, computer, etc.

Its the Games Explorer feature that has been around since Vista, shows each game icon and if you right click them it brings up more contextual options. Game setting launchers are often included here.

Forums and self-help are par for the course for PC gaming, its part of what makes PC gaming great because developers can only include these kind of tweaks and options on the PC for those willing to figure them out. This is because your average consumer is not willing to put up with this, so that's why we get the homogenized, bland console versions for people who tend to rage out and are too impatient to do the legwork.....

That got it. Thank you. A manual of some sort would have been nice. I was reinstalling drivers because the game said I needed it. Ends up I had the latest anyway. That turned off my 3D in the Nvidia graphics menu, so I had to go through and reconfigure my 3d over again. ugh.
