Viewing 2D 1080/24p content on 3DTV enabled system 24hz refresh rate automatically turns TV to 3D mo
Folks,

I have a xtreamer ultra box with ION2, and acquired the 3DTV feature to watch 3D blu-ray movies mostly (and with 3D content, everything apparently works OK).

The problem which I am having is that I want to watch my 2D movies in 24Hz refresh rate (probably the closest I will ever get to the native 23.976 fps most blu-rays use), but that causes the display (LG 55LX9500) to understand the content as 3D, which ruins the image for me, as well as completely disabling on-screen controls.

Bottom line is that I want to watch 3D content *and* use 2D 1080/24p resolutions without needing to enable/disable Stereo 3D all the time.

Any chance the device drivers developers give up on using this refresh rate as the "trigger" for enabling 3D content?

Thanks,

-Klaus

How about setting the desktop resolution at 60Hz (With 3DTVPlay still enabled), keeping the screen out of 3D mode unless you run a 3Dable application, at which point it will go back into 3D mode. Alternatively, while we wait for a fix, drop a shortcut for Disable and Enable 3D onto your taskbar...

You can disable 3dtvplay in the nvidia panel control, under stereostopic options, that will let you select 24hz without enter in S3D mode, another option is if you remote control have a 3D button, pressing it will disable the S3D on the tv.

On an HTPC, being able to display 2D 24Hz content and 3D content without much hassle is a must.

If I stick to 60Hz and with Stereo 3d enabled, every time XBMC switches to 24Hz the TV 3d function is enabled.

If I stick to 24Hz, PowerDVD11 or TMT won't recognize my display as 3D capable, thus displaying only 2D content.

If there is some command-line to enable/disable stereo I don't know about it. Perhaps I could somehow automate the switching with scripts (note: still a hassle).

same problem here, gt430 for me

enabling 3D mode for an HTPC should not disable the ability to play 2D 1080p24 bluray correctly, which is the majority of playback at least for me.

having to go into the nvidia control panel and enabling/disabling 3D every time we want to watch a movie is not an acceptable workaround, pretty much kills the WAF on the HTPC.

in addition, 60Hz on 24p material with madVR/LAV CUVID is not working very well, negating the benefit of using a nvidia card

THANK YOU!

It's already embarrassing for nVidia that they can't do 23.976 correctly, and most of their hardware out there won't do HD audio bitstreaming via HDMI.

The 24Hz "incompatibility" with non-3D content shows us that nVidia still has many shortcomings in the Home-Media market.

And I bought an ION HTPC thinking the quality would be top-notch... disappointed!
