I'm assuming that was directed at me. Where in da duck did I say there was an obligation? Reread the thread You will clearly see that I "distinctly" said the fault/blame lies with Samsung That is....unless you are illiterate.

I think it was more directed at this whole situation in the PC space and in particular this statement from Mulle: There is NO reason why this monitor should not be able to provide 3D through the nvidia driver. Nvidia is capable of frame sequencial output clearly. The samsung monitor can recieve frame sequenciall output. Because of situations like this and other similar situations the PC space is not as flexible as it could be. Tridef is unable to output framepacked using Nvidia and the list is pretty long. It appears to be impossible to make a monitor that works everywhere. If these Samsung monitors we're 3DTVs they would work with geforce. The issue becomes quite emotional when expensive hardware is required to be exchanged. The post was not targeted at you D-Man11.

Thanks to everybody using my assembler it warms my heart.
To have a critical piece of code that everyone can enjoy!
What more can you ask for?

Guys, There are workarounds to make these new Samsung 3D monitors work with 3D Vision, perfectly. The deal is you have to own a 3D Vision emitter in order to make the trick work. Nvidia glasses won't ever work with this monitor, that's why I sold mine in eBay, quite some time ago, but I do keep my 3D Vision emitter, cause I love 3D Vision and I fucking hate Tridef. If you don't have an 3DV emitter, than it's a no go. I used to own a Samsung 2233rz and Alienware Aw2310 monitors, that's why I always had 3D Vision kit. I am now using my Samsung S27A950D with 3D vision without any issues. I have my 3DVision emitter connected to my PC, but I have to use Samsung 3D glasses, which are far more comfortable and lighter than Nvidia that don't work with my monitor anyway. It sucks, but looking on the commercial side, I understand Nvidia's decision, I don't agree with it, but I see their point. Profit it's what matters for them. Just keep in mind that I won't discuss about workarounds here in this very forum, as I respect their rules.

I agree wholeheartedly with the OP's sentiment, a monitor's a monitor, and we should only have to buy emitters and glasses if we need them and drivers, 3D or otherwise, should be free like the older XP drivers used to be but unfortunately it's not that way anymore and nVidia looked at 3D as a way of making a profit and not as a way of displaying games. They found a way to make a profit off of hardware and software even if it wasn't really necessary and eventually other people found ways around it. By the time I got back into 3D, nVidia had just made the requirements even stricter, like the need for an emitter cable, and I'm pretty sure someone will find a way around it, if they already haven't. I can't exactly blame nVidia for trying to make a profit here but I will blame them for not supporting 3D Vision and their actual customers here.

Well, in the future when I talk nvidia with friends, I'll have to inform them of the fact, that nvidia graphics cards do not support 3D.
