Not into racing games as much as when I was a youngster but NFS U2 has always been on my top 10. Whenever I sit in front of my desktop filled with games and dont know what to jam this one never dissapoints. With TsaebehT's depth hack and the wide screen hack (you could find online) you will have a blast if you could look past the outdated graphics and the random crashes.
In racing games you don't really stop and stare. The game mechanics are superb and the music tracks brings back memories of the good old days. I've tried Carbon, Shift and Pro street which sucks big time compared because they took 10 steps back with the mechanics! Looking forward to try Grid with 4everAwake's fix in the near future. Tried this in 2d before but I still like NFSU2's arcadian mechanics more.
Personally I would place NFSU2 next to Half Life 2. Two games which stood the test of time =D
Note: If you didn't play NFSU2 in the time of release don't bother. You might be a bit too young and the game will probably suck. To me it was a thrill to see it in this amazing depth and relive memories as a teenager.
