Visat 64 - Can't change refresh rate in control panel. Refresh rate and other major problems.
I read in another thread that in Vista 64 you can't enable nvidia's crosshair which is activated under nvidia control panel.
In addition, I can not use the control panel to change the monitor frequency from 120 down to 110 or 100 hz. I can go into the control panel and check the "apply to all games" box next to a frequency I have selected. After changing to 110 or 100 hz games still only play at 120hz. Changing the in-game setting to 60, 100, 110 hz also has no effect as the nvidia control panel over-rides the setting to 120hz.
You cannot change the 3d vision monitor refresh rate under nvidia control panel or via in-game settings.
I'm wondering how much this is related to my constant flickering issue any time I'm below 60fps in stereo 3D. It really seems like the glasses/emiter will only cycle at 60fps for me regardless of what the game FPS is displaying. Anything less than 60fps causes constant (unbearable) flashing. When I do get a constant 60fps the 3d vision works smoothly, but the shutter glasses will completely stop working after 3-4 minutes. Perhaps I have some other major issues?

Interesting, I have Vista64, too, but I'm not sure I've paid close enough attention to notice that. I'll have to check that out, maybe that's the root of my flickering issues too?
I just lodged a complaint with nvidia this weekend about the crosshairs. It's unacceptable that it simply doesn't work at all and they've offered no fix whatsoever.

I just went home for lunch to run some more tests on the 3d vision frequency in Vista 64.
After a fresh driver instal (again) I went through the normal wizard which set the refresh to 120hz as the default setting for all games. Next I went to the Nvidia control panel and tried to change the default refresh to either 100 or 110 with no success; games still defaulted to 120hz.
The only way to change it from 120hz is to go back into the wizard and tell the wizard that you see "flashing in your peripheral vision" and select the option for "use game settings". Of course you can choose either 110 or 100 at this point as well, but you will be stuck going into the wizard each time you want to change the refresh rate. Kind of annoying so I'd suggest letting the game dictate the monitor refresh rate under Vista 64.
Just wanted to update this thread and I'm not sure if it affects XP or 32 bit Vista in the least.

I've just been using the setup wizard to globally adjust the refresh rate for all games. With my environment, 120hz has worked out best for me so far, for normal daylight use and nighttime lights out use.
I just checked and I can change the monitor refresh rate in windows at least using the display/change resolution settings under the Nvidia control panel. (Confirmed by checking the monitor info button) I'm not sure if changing that carries over to games though. I'll test it out when I'm not feeling so lazy.
As for the crosshair button, it has never worked for me in Vista 64 and apparently this is a longstanding issue. It does make you wonder if anyone from Nvidia actually monitors this message board.
Hey Nvidia, is anyone there? /tearywave.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':tearywave:' />
Does anyone from nvidia post here and acknowledge issues we present?
There has only been one post that I know of in the last 2 or 3 months, and that was about a month ago asking for patience while they catch up with what they had missed ;)
I know that support isn't guaranteed here, but it was offered at one point, and its frustrating to get no feedback at all now.
Although they've fixed some things even without the feedback.
For recent answers on some things, find the thread about the EVGA chat a week or two back. Nothing answered on tricky issues brought up here though.
