Asus MG248Q unable to get Nvidia 3D vision to locate it.
I have been trying for hours to get Nvidia 3D Vision 2 to recognize that this 3D ready monitor, Asus MG248Q, is actually connected. The monitor is currently connected via a DisplayPort 1.4. I have the monitor set to be running 144HZ. I have it set it to 3D in the Windows 10 Resolution settings. I have the latest drivers installed by Nvidia Experience. I have a GeForce GTX 970 with the driver version 378.49 on a Windows 10 64bit. My processor is a I7-4790K with 32GBs of RAM. The only options I get are Generic CRT Display and 3D Vision Discover. Anyone able to suggest anything?

Try using DDU first (Display Driver Uninstaller) in Safe Mode and reinstall the latest drivers. Second thing you should try is connect the monitor via Dual-link DVI-D even though DisplayPort 1.4 should've worked in the first place. If that doesn't work you may have to force the monitor's EDID with a .inf file. I suggest a .inf file from a similar Asus monitor like the VG248QE which is also 24", has 144hz and supports 3D vision natively. Apparently your monitor is not listed here like the VG248QE http://www.nvidia.com/object/3d-vision-displays.html although I think that list hasn't been updated in a while. Curious that on the Asus website it is specified that the MG248Q has native 3D vision support. Even so, nVidia may have not updated their drivers for this monitor. The question is... can you get 3D vision to start with that "Generic CRT Display" option? Normally you should have another generic option under the name "Asus 120hz 3D LCD" cuz 120hz is the highest frequency that 3D vision supports. My VG248QE which supports 144hz has the same option, but "Generic CRT Display" might also work.

The monitors listed at the link above, have not been updated in over three years. I suggest you contact Nvidia and inform them how stupid this is. Is you emitter dimly glowing green? Try re-installing the drivers using DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller), quite often, a corrupted driver install will prevent 3D Vision from working. As Kaimastah stated, it's possible that the monitor has not been whitelisted and included in the drivers yet. Though Nvidia is typically good at having them added by release and you are not using an old driver. Once you have it working, be sure to enable and use the advanced keys http://3dvision-blog.com/111-changing-the-convergence-level-in-3d-v ision/ Also check out http://helixmod.blogspot.com/2013/10/game-list-automatically-updated.html and http://3dsurroundgaming.com/OpenGL3DVisionGames.html for stereoscopic compatibility patches made by some of the posters on these forums.

I am having exactly the same problem with my Asus MG248Q that Suddenflame described back in February. Stereoscopic 3D Set Up only recognizes the monitor as "Generic CRT display" and fails to complete setup since it does not see the monitor as 3D Vision capable. Been working on this for weeks with no success ... the Nvidia support folks seem perplexed and unable to provide a solution. I seem to have dotted all i's and crossed all tees without success. System is Dell XPS 8900, Windows 7 64-bit; i7-6700 CPU, 16 GB ram, 1060 6GB GPU, Nvidia 388.71 driver, dual-link DVI cable, Asus MG248QR monitor. I've run DDU several times to uninstall/reinstall the graphic drivers, but no success there. So ... despite Asus' claim that this this monitor is 3D Vision compatible, has anyone out there actually succeeded in using this monitor with 3D Vision? I now suspect that the MG248Q is simply not compatible with 3D Vision, and that I must replace it with a different monitor. For what it's worth, my interest is 3D video editing rather than gaming.

A follow-up after extensive discussion with Nvidia and Asus tech support. My monitor is the Asus MG248QR model, which is an update of the earlier MG248Q model. Asus verifies that while the older Asus MG248Q is compatible with 3D Vision, the newer/current Asus MG248QR is not compatible with it. Hence my inability to get the monitor to work. It took a lot of time and effort to figure this out as there is a lot of confusion and misinformation out there regarding this monitor. However, there is some good discussion of this in posts on website https://www.reddit.com/r/Monitors/comments/6wr2mt/asus_mg248q_vs_mg248qr/ I'm hoping that Nvidia and Asus can/will figure out some firmware fix to make the unsupported MG248QR work with 3D Vision. This monitor is being heavily promoted and sold now, and I suspect there will be a lot of frustrated folks trying to figure this out.
