I have read presentation from NVidio about NVidia 3D Vision.
I have got monitor, video board, glasses.
I use the render video filter to display video in full screen with the simple video player.
In this filter the image is drawing using Direct3D surfaces.
I load it from IMediaSample to two surfaces

A new question, I hope.

I have 3D vision setup and working with a GTX 260 and an ASUS VG236HE. I am using Cyberlink Ultra II for DVD playback and converting to 3D. I have a Liteon BD internal player installed.

When I play back Jurassic Park (standard 2D DVD), it converts to 3D rather nicely. Next, I tried a BD version of Underworld (2003 movie); it refuses to stay in 3D mode. 3D is highlighted when the movie loads, but grays out after it starts.

I'm stumped!

Im asking a question whats the problem with that ? the topic is for questioning

I know the requirements my question is if I use an external monitor with 120 mh would it work

Reading failure for the loss.

1. If you would read the first topic in this thread, you would see what this topic is really for. If you would read past the first page or two, you would see it fail because nobody at NVIDIA has time to do this.

2. If you would read that link I sent, it lists off all the monitors that work with 3D Vision.

Hi chaps and chappettes,
I've been mucking around with the Nvidia 3d vision discover thing and I'm teetering on the brink of shelling out a couple of hundred quid for a new monitor and the 3dvision shutter kit - HOWEVER:
On Call of Duty: Black Ops, I've noticed that the iron sights don't align properly for either eye making it impossible to aim correctly.
Is there an option or fix that will shift the camera left or right like the IZ3D drivers do or is the laser sight (which seems to separate when I use the aim down the sights feature!) the only way?

If there is no fix like on IZ3D - why not? Then users could simply close one eye as in real life to aim or keep both eyes open and use either left shift or right shift to select their master eye.

I'd assume that turning the convergence down would solve this instantly but at massive expense to the pop-out factor.

Seems like a simple fix to me - just shift the camera position to have either the left or right eye at the centre of the screen.

Let me know if there's a fix so I can either save some money till there is one or spend my hard-earned happy in the knowledge that it will work!

Thanks,
-Dave

I would like to know the answer to that, too. It would be nice if it were active only when the key is being held down instead of having to toggle it on with one keypress and toggle it off with another. Then I could map that to a thumb mouse button and be a very happy camper. Not only would it be handy when looking down sights, it would be handy in other types of games where you have to select 3D objects anywhere on the screen.

As is we've got two choices. The obvious one is to just toggle 3D off while you aim then switch it back on when you're done. A better one is to use the 3D sight that comes with the drivers. When you turn this on (definitely a good one to map to one of those extra mouse buttons), NVIDIA pops it's own sight up on the screen and that sight automatically goes to the depth of whatever object it is sitting over. I've been using it a bunch in Fallout: New Vegas recently and it works pretty well.

Sanjib: Hi, my name is Sanjib. How may I help you?
Poacher64: Hi there, I'm looking a response to the question posed in this thread on Nvidia forums : http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=185945
Poacher64: ?
Sanjib: Please let me know the graphics card and the OS that you are using
Poacher64: GTX 470 and Win 7 64 bit
Sanjib: Are you using NVIDIA 3D Vision kit?
Sanjib: Please let me know the driver version that you have installed?
Poacher64: I've got a 3DTV arriving tomorrow so will be purchasing 3d vision play
Poacher64: and it's the latest Nvidia driver
Sanjib: Okay, the issue that you are experiencing is only with COD:black Ops, correct?
Sanjib: or all the games?
Poacher64: all games
Sanjib: So right now, you are using 3D Discover glasses? correct?
Poacher64: yeah
Sanjib: Have you updated the recent patches of the game?
Poacher64: yep
Poacher64: also found this thread on forums which is relevant: http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=19019
Sanjib: Okay, please give me two minutes to check if there is any such known issue.
Poacher64: sure thing
Sanjib: Okay, please be informed once you installed the 3D TV play software.
Sanjib: Or NVIDIA 3D Stereoscopic drivers
Sanjib: You will get a option in the in the NVIDIA control Panel called Set up streoscopic 3D.
Sanjib: Once you click on Set up streoscopic 3D, you will get a option called, change 3D laser sight.
Poacher64: so there's no way to change the eye alignment?
Sanjib: Eye Alignment can be changed through "3D laser sight" from the NVIDIA control panel
Poacher64: so can I do that with 3d vision Discover?
Sanjib: I am sorry Poacher, for that you need to have a NVIDIA 3D Vision kit.
Poacher64: okay, but it definitely can be done with 3d tv play then?
Sanjib: http://www.legitreviews.com/images/reviews/889/driver_control.jpg
Sanjib: Please check the above weblink for more information
Poacher64: that doesnt have anything about eye alignment - just laser sight...
Sanjib: That is used for Crosshair target
Poacher64: yeah I'm talking about in game iron sights and changing the camera alignment like IZ 3D's drivers can do I get the laser sight option in 3d vision discover
Sanjib: I am sorry, 3D Vision discover doesnot install any drivers.
Sanjib: It is not possible with 3D Vision discover
Poacher64: okay so I can definitely change the camera alignment with 3d tv play drivers then?
Poacher64: ?
Poacher64: let me show you a screenshot of what I mean...
File attachment upload has started.
The file IZ3D separation.jpg (93.32KB) was received.

Poacher64: circled in red is the feature I am interested in.
Sanjib: Yes, can you send me a screenshot of the game, that it looked like?
Poacher64: basically what it does is it shifts the camera positions to the left or right so that you can have the centre of the image (crosshair or ingame iron sights) aligned to either your left eye, right eye or centre (which is the default setting on nvidia)
Poacher64: i can only take screenshots in anaglyph for now which will make it unclear
Poacher64: the issue is simply that the in-game 3d sights don't line up correctly because the camera is either side of the centre of the screen so it's like trying to aim with a gun held to the centre of your face
Poacher64: http://forum.yuplay.com/index.php?showtopic=513 see this thread for screenshots
Poacher64: http://www.shacknews.com/article/66552/call-of-duty-black-ops the second video down highlights the problem perfectly
Poacher64: do you see what i mean?
Poacher64: ?
Sanjib: I am sorry for the delay in replying.
Sanjib: I checked my supervisior, After installing the 3D TV play software you will be able to use this feature
Sanjib: NVIDIA 3D Vision discover glasses is not so good
Poacher64: okay, so if I go ahead and buy 3d tv play and find that it doesn't have this feature I'll get a refund, right?
Poacher64: ?
Sanjib: What i will recommend you is to download the 14 day trial version of 3D TV play software first
Poacher64: okay
Sanjib: simply download the 3DTV Play Activation Utility to enable a 14 day trial.

http://www.nvidia.com/object/3dtv-activate.html
Poacher64: ok. thanks.
Sanjib: Your welcome.
Sanjib: But, remember, 3D TV play will work only with the Glasses provided by your TV manufacturer and a compatible 3D TV.

Problem with the laser sight old bean is that if it's a 3d sight the laser focusses on that depth rather than the depth of the 'target' it also partially obscures the target putting the player at a disadvantage so the 3d sight is overall pretty crap to put it mildly.

False. All you can do is pick your sight shape and transparency. What's more, if there were such an option, the crosshair selection window would be a really strange place to put it.

The 3D laser sight that comes with the drivers does focus at the depth of the target. If the target is close to screen depth, the two images will be close together. If it's far away or in your face, the two images will be far apart.

There are lots of shapes you can pick, too, including hollow ones. If that's not enough for you, you can set the opacity to make it just a ghost of an image. It's not bad but it only works for things EXACTLY in front of you.

I am not sure if this is the right place to ask this question, please redirect me if I am wrong

I have recently purchased a laptop that supports nvidia 3d vision and has the card GeForce 460M. I want to have the 3D vision running in linux.

I have found out that 3d vision is not supported in linux for GeForce cards and only supported for the Quad series.

How likely is that nvidia will support 3d vision for GeForce series in linux in the future?

Any ideas on what modifications would be required to support 3d vision on GeForce in linux?

Well, the point of this topic is to host weekly questions for NVIDIA. As the first post says, the effort died before it even got started. That was a year and a half ago. Yet it's still stickied, which is a pretty bad testimant to NVIDIA's commitment to these boards. (What's even worse is that a second, similar topic is also stickied.)

Your best bet for getting an answer would be to post in a new topic but, given the weekend just started, you might want to wait a few days first.

(And if you're looking for barely educated guesses - I'm guessing there's little chance of getting support. The 3D Vision market is already small. The linux folks are a small portion of that small portion. If 3D Vision can get popular (or if linux could get popular) then the chances would be better.)

In linux is most likely to happen as native support in each game/application rather than a global support by hacking the graphics library like 3d vision and others do.

The problem is that, despite implementing proper stereoscopic graphics in a game when you are the developer is pretty straightforward, when the user is going to use shutters the developer has to face the epic problem of synchronization with the shutters.
Although, this situation may end in the near future if displays begin to support standarized formats like checkerboard or side by side like TV's are already doing. Then it will be up to the display when to shut which eye.

Displays with passive glasses doesn't have that problem and are very easy to support.

Ultimate review of nvidia 3D (active 3D)

System: window 7 64 bit
nvidia 3D vision set
Dell Prision 740
Quardro FX 4600
2 SAMSUNG 120Hz monitors
Using this system from 3D vision release

Control systems:
A lot of crap systems you can think of ... with any combinations
Pluse Zalman passive 3D with polrized glass looks crap

Here is my review or comment

Every time Window 7 or Fedora (Linux) system upgrade
this nVidia active 3D is not working
this active 3D freeeeze system a lot, which means tones of system reboot, I can not run any calculation because entire system messed up when this 3D vision freezes with messsssss......
More funny thing about Window 7 is .. eventhough I set up no update.... next morning I saw update had been installed with out my approval and 3D messed up again.
then couple of weeks later Microsoft release another update which makes 3D vision work very short period of time.. only 2 days... then another update which completly knock 3D vision down....
Who should I blame Microsoft or nVidia....Why you guys doing this .... I really don't understand ???????

On the other hands,,, look crapy Zalman stero works fine even with 10yr old FX 1400 card or even integrated motherbord without graphic card.
I think if you wanna run pymol or coot for structural biology perpose, the answer is so clear
or if you are a father who has kids spending tooo much time on 3D game, nvidia 3D vision is a ultimate solution.

Don't give up till it work

or if you are a father who has kids spending tooo much time on 3D game, nvidia 3D vision is a ultimate solution.

Don't give up till it work
