I recently bought the 32inch Panasonic viera tcl32dt30 model. I had purchased the asus 23inch vision kit that came with the glasses and monitor, but had to return them because of bad pixles on the monitor.
I also prefer 32inch gaming. I've had ATI cards in the past, but switched to nVidia several years ago and don't regret it!
While I did get to enjoy 3D vision for a few days before getting my new TV, I'm quite happy with the 3D so far with Panasonic. I did some research before and I do understand the limitations with HDMI.
I've actually gotten used to 720p, even though its slightly less visually stimulating than 1080p. I assume that at some point nVidia might add side-by-side options so that I could try 1080p 3D at the
refresh rate of 60. But, other than that, I'm quite happy with the setup and I'm likely to buy the 3D play software at the end of the trial.
I did try the iz3d software and the tri3d, but even when playing in 1080p rez it still looked like 720p (despite checking to make sure I had the right settings. I assume this is because those 3rd party
software drivers work with ATI better since the nVidia drivers tech is more hush, hush, or unavailable to 3rd party software developers. So, I am curious then if there is really any noticeable difference between
the frame sequential and side by side or checkerboard styles of 3d. I assume that on a technical level, frame sequential is better visually, but obviously it is limited on HDMI. Does that mean that should
nVidia add a feature to switch to side-by-side that it would look normal at the highest resolution (1080p)? Other than that, I have noticed an major improvement in 2-D quality graphics at 1080p, so I am fine
with switching from 2-D to 3-D depending on my mood.
With the issue of HDMI versus DVI, I am assuming that the DVI standard can handle 1080p 3D at higher refresh rates than can HDMI. Is that more of a hardware issue, meaning that the HDMI ports would at some point
need to be "upgraded" meaning a 1.5 standard to replace 1.4? Or is that more a firmware/software issue that could be updated? That's more just a curiosity of mine!

What 1080P rez modes are you refering to, SBS? FS? I've gamed extensively on my 2010 Samsung plasma. CB is exactly the same on all three drivers, Nvidia, iZ3D, TriDef. If you are saying that iZ3D 1080P SBS looks no better than nvidia 720P FP, then there is something wrong because there is a vast difference in visual quality between the two.
If you are asking if Frame Sequential looks different from SBS, no, it is looks virtually the same. The only way you'll see a difference is if you take a static screen shot and examine the two modes, FS and SBS, at great length. In-game, you won't see a difference except in framerate.

Yes, that is exactly what that means. The HDMI standards commitee is well aware that fully implemented 3D is impossible with HDMI1.4 and faster/better chips are in the works now. Best guess is 2012 implementation. Of course that means getting a new TV when these 1.5 TVs come out, so on your current TV, you will never be able to 3D game at native rez with Nvidia software.
You can't do Frame Seq. using 3DTV Play. Have you tried FS with TriDef or iZ3D? What modes have you tried with iZ3D/TriDef?

Be sure that you do not have both iZ3D and 3DTV Play enabled at the same time. Your unexpected results may be explained by this.
I'm curious how you are doing 3D gaming at 1080P since nobody in this forum is 3D gaming on a Panasonic 3DTV.
Do you have your rez set to 1920x1080 23/24 Hz in the Nvidia control panel with game rez set to 1920x1080? When you launch a game, does your Panasonic automatically switch to 3D mode? I'm assuming that your panny is doing 1920x1080 at 24 Hz in framepacking since FP is the only mode supported by 3DTV Play. I don't recall whether iZ3D supports Frame Sequential, so I'm assuming your "iZ3D at 1080P" is set to SBS mode in the iZ3D screen (DirectX). When you launch a game under iZ3D, do you use your Panny remote to set the 3D mode to SBS? If you could answer these questions it would be of great help to members of this forum.

Be sure that you do not have both iZ3D and 3DTV Play enabled at the same time. Your unexpected results may be explained by this.

I always make sure that one is disable when I try the other 3D software, so I am sure that is not the problem.
I am able to 3D game on my panasonic at 1080p, just I am forced to use 24hz with nVidia Vision. I'm not sure
why others may not be able to do so, but this TV was released last month, so its a new model. My PC resolution
is set to 1920x1080 which is its native restitution. I have to set the refresh rate in-game to get teh 3-d to work
other wise I get an error message on screen sayig hdmi1.4 3d not supported on this resolution. I get that at 1080p,
so I have to change it to 24hz. Mostly, I have been playing at 720p at 60 and it works fine. I'd prefer a higher
rez but 720p is adequate.
For nVidia, my tv automatically detects the 3d and switches it. For IZ3D, I have to do it manually. My TV has various 3D settings:
Native, Frame sequential, side by side, top and bottom, and 2D-3D (its a converter option to take 2D images and make them 3D).
With IZ3D I am using side by side option left/right. I can do over/top too, but I see no difference in quality. For that, I have
to manually select side by side on my tv.

So you set either the CP panel refresh to 24, and/or the in-game refresh to 24, you launch a game, and a Panasonic graphic pops up informing you that 3D is enabled, you don't manually set the panasonic in 3D mode , correct? This is how it works on Samsungs, so no surprise.

If you are asking if Frame Sequential looks different from SBS, no, it is looks virtually the same. The only way you'll see a difference is if you take a static screen shot and examine the two modes, FS and SBS, at great length. In-game, you won't see a difference except in framerate.

If Nvidia did SBS in 3DTV Play, then the user would need to manually put the TV in SBS mode and that would violate Nvidia's mandate.

I did try the iz3d software and the tri3d, but even when playing in 1080p rez it still looked like 720p... So, I am curious then if there is really any noticeable difference between
the frame sequential and side by side or checkerboard styles of 3d.
What 1080P rez modes are you refering to, SBS? FS? I've gamed extensively on my 2010 Samsung plasma. CB is exactly the same on all three drivers, Nvidia, iZ3D, TriDef. If you are saying that iZ3D 1080P SBS looks no better than nvidia 720P FP, then there is something wrong because there is a vast difference in visual quality between the two.

Be sure that you do not have both iZ3D and 3DTV Play enabled at the same time. Your unexpected results may be explained by this.

Do you have your rez set to 1920x1080 23/24 Hz in the Nvidia control panel with game rez set to 1920x1080? When you launch a game, does your Panasonic automatically switch to 3D mode? I'm assuming that your panny is doing 1920x1080 at 24 Hz in framepacking since FP is the only mode supported by 3DTV Play. I don't recall whether iZ3D supports Frame Sequential, so I'm assuming your "iZ3D at 1080P" is set to SBS mode in the iZ3D screen (DirectX). When you launch a game under iZ3D, do you use your Panny remote to set the 3D mode to SBS? If you could answer these questions it would be of great help to members of this forum.

Just to be clear, the "3DTV Play" graphic logo appears in your CP under "3D set up", you set the CP rez to 1920x1080 at 24 Hz, and have the in-game rez to 1920x1080 (some games let you set the in-game refresh rate also, so you set refresh to 24 if possible). So you set either the CP panel refresh to 24, and/or the in-game refresh to 24, you launch a game, and a Panasonic graphic pops up informing you that 3D is enabled, you don't manually set the panasonic in 3D mode , correct? This is how it works on Samsungs, so no surprise.
