How to fix/disable shaders in games(DLL,guide and fixes).

Can someone try fixing Dead Space 2's 3D support? That would be amazing. You'd be my hero.

Tommorrow I will look at it. Keep in mind as long as it effect deleting I can do it.(meaning I can pretty much just run helixs script). I can't alter effects.

Updated: Amalur with a different alternative.

I would love to learn more about it! Some kind of tutorial would be great. Or can You recommend a website where a noob like me can learn something about shaders?
I tried to fix the sky of Assassin's Creed 2 with the help of Your fix for ACB as a template but it didn't manage to identify the values I had to change. Unfortunately reloading the shaders with F10 didn't work in this game. So I had to restart the game to see the effects of my changes (they had either no effect or the clouds disappeared completely /sad.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> ) BTW reloading worked in ACB so this issue seems to be specific for AC 2.
Yes same as 3d4dd, I ran into limited success by just using the shader blanking method and would like to learn how to actually move objects to correct depth or make 2D textures to 3D. I looked over some of the code in Helix's other fixes and this clearly takes far more skill than I possess to accomplish, as it looks as if he is writing custom shader code to fix more difficult problems. It also appears he is blanking out some shaders and combining them into other shaders that share depth affinity elsewhere, which is again, way beyond my current understanding levels. What we need is some kind of primer on how to get started, I think a good bit of this involved setting up stereo texture to get 2D assets into 3D.

Until then, I think it may be better to post up the full CRCs with documentation about what the shader does so that more experienced and talented individuals can pick up from there. If we can split the work load it can make it easier on everyone instead of all of us spending time hitting the same dead-ends. So for example, if I posted for Assassin's Creed II:

AO Blob Shadows

Skybox???

Sky and Clouds

The main benefit is the actual shader code is still intact so that anyone wanting to try something else with it can do so. In the case of the AO Blob Shadows, you just need to blank out everything after VS_3_0 and drop it in your AC2\shaderoverride\vertexshaders folder and it'll work, but the Skybox and Sky and Cloud shaders need more expert attention to fix them to proper levels like Brotherhood and Revelations. I also was not able to single out the individual UI elements like Brotherhood sadly.

Thanks for this tool!! It's a really good idea :O ..although I'm trying to fix warhammer space marine without result... there are too many ghosting images that I can't remove. I'd like to have more support from nvidia for 3d games :(

Yes I tried this as well, it needs a more talented hand to move the individual shaders or at least, have them use the same matrix values. I think DDD has a built-in tool to accomplish this with the row major function. The problem with Space Marines appear to be this:

1) single images are a composite of multiple shader passes that all use different depth values, so when you increase separation in 3D, they split at different values.
2) blanking individual shaders is limited in success but also results in your objects becoming more and more transparent as they don't have all the composited layers to create the image.

So in order to fix this game, I think someone would need to either correct the shaders or combine them so they all draw using the same relative values. I don't have the skill to do this, but I'm pretty sure Helix does. I think he did some of this already with his Dead Space fixes looking over his code.

Having said all that, this game was a huge disappointment for me overall, so I'm not even sure its worth fixing.

It sounds like hours and hours of work though per game not to mention it requires owning each game. Lets not push it. He released the mod which is alot more then anyone has been willing to do. If he is willing to do it great perhaps we can get a donations going or something if he is interested in doing it. Until then he said he explain how its done(though it requires knowledge of shaders.) I am sure when it gets explained many of us will be willing to learn though it will take time. Many hardcore 3d users.

To whoever just downloaded amalur(no lighting) changes. I uploaded wrong file -_-. Redownload.

I'm a noob with this sort of thing. Do you guys think that this trick might be able to fix the crosshair in certain games? I'm mostly thinking about GTA4 but there are a couple of games where that would be a huge help. I may have to try Saint's Row as well.

It can PROBABLY delete crosshair's. If thats what you mean. Basically it fixes by deleting effects. Like I used it to fix mass effect 2 by deleting fog, light flares(which were not even needed 2d IMO), etc. So if you plan to delete a crosshair and use nvidia's that can work. All it will cost you is 5-10 mins of your time. Its not hard. I am posting fixes because most people are too lazy :P. If you find a fix post here though.

Mass effect 2 update: I am uploading a new fix for that high depth ghosting. Not sure its worth it since basically it kills some lighting. Will post pictures.
2nd update:.... Forgot to upload the alternative file. Its up now.

I tried Dead Space 2..... Thats not gonna happen. Literally made my eyes hurt playing with options. Its got like 8 different wierd light sources. To fix it all would be total darkness and tons of other stuff.

The biggest problem I ran into with crosshairs is not all games let you single out those shaders, and they may also be included with other UI elements. So if you blank out the crosshair, it can blank out other stuff too. A few games that I wanted to try the crosshair for turned out to have a dynamic crosshair, like Darksiders, so I scrapped that idea. I'm more interested now in being able to push 2D UI/HUD elements to depth for some games.

Dead Island Fix

This is a pretty good game that worked well in 3d vision. Only problem is that it had no way to manually get rid of shadows till now so game was best played on no convergence or shadows go everywhere. All shadows have been removed. Had some better indoor pictures but it didnt save right and I am to lazy to redo it = )

Extract both files in. steam/steamapps/common/dead island/
should look like.
steam/steamapps/common/dead island/d3d9.dll
steam/steamapps/common/dead island/shaderoverride

Update: Fixed lighting a bit. Removed 2d smoke.

Will do darkness 2 tonight.

Dorkirt. Did you download BOTH the fix and release.zip on front page?(need both in same folder as the .exe). If that doesnt work try the debug and fix.

Also where is it crashing. Someone ealier said they were crashing maybe they can tell us how they fixed.

Removing elements that cause issues can also be done by using texture replacement with TexMod or uMod. I've already made several mods with this tools. E.g. removing crosshairs without destroying other HUD elements can be done by replacing the crosshair with a transparent texture. But texture replacement fails when there are issues with effects that are not based on textures (bloom, shadows, certain kinds of fog, etc.). In this case only turning off shaders can help. But the most promising usage of shaders is fixing issues instead of removing them. With my texture replacement fixes I could only remove the clouds in AC whereas Helix could remain the clouds and place it at the correct depth!
Has anyone tried to fix a game with Unreal Engine? There are common issues with fog, dynamic shadows and water surfaces...
