What is the size of your picture bart ?

Less than 200 lumen can still look good.... on a small screen. After all, 3D cinemas are rated at an astoundishingly low minimum of 5 foot lambert (where in 2D it's around 12 foot lambert)
My image size is 2,4 meter.

2.4meter diagonal 16:9 ratio i assume ?

Making just a very quick rough calculation with big roundings and truncating lots of numbers, With the 120Hz brightness rating and including the glasses on I get approximately 75cd/m², about 18~20 Foot Lambert. (aproximate precision +-20cd/m², +-5 Foot-Lambert)
It's an ideal brightness in the dark, not so much with ambient light but it's alright.

The depthQ pj is interesting , because it was the first to be sold with this feature set ( 720p 120hz) .

So they didn't settle for a CRT grade 750 lumen but got 2000 out of the box ( we still don know 3d contrast rating). I suppose its 2000, because they found 2000 lumen right, and for that kinda price, it'd better be good.

So in my eyes the ACER/optoma is a DepthQ clone with somewhat failed execution, which Im happy to compensate for, since it s cheap /shifty.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':shifty:' />

On the long run , I might reach 2000 on off contrast instead of 1050 at 120hz, and while you think you play with over 3000 ( 1000 IRL ) , Im going to be contrast limited by the nvidia glasses (2000).

I think that this whole brightness thing with the h5360 is all to do with comparioson. People who are moving fromm a samsung to a h5360 (like me) will see the brightness in 3D adequate, but people like Tritosine, who I assume uses or used to have a polarized setup, is much more used to a very highly bright 3d image, and so the h5360 plus shutterglasses is a huge step down in brightness.

Hi,

I was wondering if higher brightness would increase crosstalk? Especially since i can now set depth to the same as my monitor, i see crosstalk in dark areas with bright lights etc. It is not as bad as the monitor overall. It seems its caused by the glasses not fully closing and light leaking through. So im thinking higher brightness would only make this problem worse?

Phil.

We know these projectors drop when we go 120hz, perhaps we should concentrate trying to get 110hz or 100hz working.
Anyone had any luck with 110hz or 100hz on either the Acer or Optoma?
I previously used 100hz on my Samsung 2233RZ and loosing 20hz was no big deal at all.

tried 85 hz 100hz, its resampled inside , not true 100hz.

Ghosting, I have it too, yes, its leakage by the glasses . I think USB timing can be improved, also a crystal eyes shutter is 2.5x better than nvidias.
I dont plan to make games like metro2033 brighter however, only by 20-30%. So I cut down all the brightness with a static iris in front of the pj:
blacks improve , on off contrast improves. So brightness difference will be the same, only the blacks are "blacker".

However I need a lot of brightness to play in a daylight filled room with flight simulator ,and other non contrast critical games. As I said , with a projector setup, you can trade all your extra brightness for better blacks.

I can get 100hz or 110hz working but only via VGA so far and not HDMI, it works in that it sticks and the brightness doesn't drop but "Not running in correct stereo resolution" or whatever it is pops up in red writing.
Also the nvidia logo test at either 100hz or 110hz appears like it's moving side to side type of effect and there is no 3D that I can see.

I'm confused why would 120hz work fine which is higher?

It didnt work for me at all (hdmi) ,

120hz: when you complete the wizard it asks you if you see flicker on your peripherial vision. If you click yes, It should give additional refresh rates, 100-110-120hz.

Nor did those work for me. I think true 85hz DLP-s are rare, becuase the colorwheel has a fix speed and stuff.

Tritosine,

I appreciate your input, but, it seems to me that you are trying to discourage anyone who want to have an Acer H5360 projector to not to.

You perception is different than many of us. You may have a point in saying that it "should be" brighter than whatever you saw and are used to, but most of us did not have that. Most of the H5360 owners (and yes I'd like to generalize) are happy with what thay are getting.

Not to be mean or anything, but it feels like you are to trying to make everyone lower/smaller than you are, because you have the "truth".

Perception is reality. For someone who is happy with the brightness of what they have, you don't have to try to cram in their throat that they have made a bad decision. If they are happy with what they have, let it go. It's OK.

If you are not happy with the brightness, that's fine - let whoever is responsible or can do something about it do something about it, but, don't discourage everyone else about it.

It's the first projector of that kind that is affordable and available to the mass.

It's not perfect and it may be throw-away technology, but let us have our fun for now.

I feel almost dirty when you say that what I see and am happy with is dirt. I want to think that I made a good enough decision. And that should be OK by me. No need to throw dirt in my face (or anyone faces for that matter)

No offense or anything - just wanted to say what I think. I know I will be getting flames out of this, but...
