Why would they do that? If you want to pronounce a scroll of HACKEM MUCHE over your drivers, it doesn't hurt them any. Now, if you were to take said drivers and start spreading them around as the "real" drivers, that would be a very serious problem.

NVIDIA is making perfect sense. They gave 3D a shot, it failed to take off, and they kept it on life support for several years - hoping it would make a comeback. It didn't. Time to drop the failure so they don't have to keep supporting code that's barely used. Throw in the rise of VR/AR as a viable alternative (and, often times, massive improvement) to 3D Vision, and they would have to be crazy to keep it in.

If there is NO revolution in the quality of VR gaming headsets it will end up much sooner than 3D-Vision did.

Quite true, but that's a really big "if". It would certainly be nice if they would give us five more years to let those technologies shake out and get popular. Though maybe they already are? I haven't got a clue how popular either technology is beyond "not very."

The main thing here is, if you ask me, the low resolution from the current VR headsets. Even the Rift S looks like you are playing games @ 1024*768 on a 24'' screen. There are some things for tweaking VR graphics but nothing will beat the low resolution @ all. You will not have those options like in SteamVR with the OpernVR advanced tool that will realy improve graphics for things like vorpX or the virtual desktop method with SMB anaglyph hack or using Mother VR mod for Alien Isolation. If there is any method to influence VR next to SS with the developer tool just let me know. Hellblade and Skyrim VR are looking nice now after some tweaks. But you can of course cound pixels here .... and SLI seems to be useless in VR, means i need money for a new CPU for playing VR may be with 3x SS....... Overall VR is nice but its NOT THAT what we are used to from 3D-Vision currently and if the RiftS and the Valve Inded (coming in approx 2) are the state of the art for VR-Headsets.....VR is dead until it will rise....thats my personal opinion.
