Geo - That's the same Andrew that just posted in here from NVIDIA :)

Since he was eager to help on that forum I am hoping he would be just as easy to support all of us over @ NBR

Also, Andrew, if you would like to catch up read the ~60 page thread http://forum.notebookreview.com/alienware-m17x/559706-m17x-r3-485m-gpu.html

I am the first of many to purchase this card and have tons on board. With NVIDIA's help we can make ALL of our laptops the *BEST* laptop...

No, make it the BEST 3D LAPTOP! Available today.

Dell has already all but said flat out they will be releasing the 485M with the laptop, so I would assume they are working with you directly. All the Dell reps say the 485M is supported and will work but obviously that is not 100% the case since we have all tested it and it in face does not work.

Please help us.

100% agreed, With some help from you guys at Nvidia we will have the BEST 3D Laptops on the market and when someone asks us what we are running we can proudly state Nvidia's 485m. Were close, we just need a bit of help from you guys to make the 3D functionality work.

I'm a bit pissed at Nvidia right now, I have been a loyal fan for years and have spent huge amounts of money on Nvidia product and always advised others to do likewise, right now that loyalty is coming under question

If anyone knows the identity of the Nvidia 3DTV manager mentioned in the post above it might be time to draw his attention to this thread for some answers

Hi All

We are reading this thread and I will have an official response soon. As I previously posted, we specifically make a the solution work and when you swap out a notebook GPU for another, its not the same as a desktop GPU.

Ok sounds good Andrew, however it would be great if possible for you guys to work on a simple soulution to allow us to gain 3D using these GPUs. We appreciate the support and responce though. Looking forward to hear back from you.

if the M18 appears we should have the drivers?

Probably Not, From the release information given the M18x is going to use 2 460m GPUs in SLI so there wouldn't be any Drivers for the 485m. I still personally would prefer a M17x R3 with a single 485m over a 18" running 2 460s in SLI, just too many issues with SLI and Xfire in my opinion, but to each there own.

however, lets please keep this thread on topic and see if Nvidia can give us a fix to get 3D working on M17x R3s with a 485m installed in them.

I'm in a slightly different boat. I am planning on buying a 3D laptop within the next month, and I want a single GTX 485M (or better) gpu in this laptop. I have not been able to find ANY laptop from ANY manufacturer with both a GTX 485M and a 120Hz display. Can you point me to what laptop I should buy from which manufacturer?

Also... I plan to buy a Sprint HTC EVO 3D phone when it comes out. Will the 3D pictures it takes display properly on an Nvidia 3D laptop, such as the Alienware m17X r3?

You will NOT find the 485M in any 120hz configuration, period.

NVIDIA or OEM's is not allowing it, and noone knows why.

Your pictures should display OK as long as it isn't taking some funky photo, should be standard SbS format.

Glad to hear the pics will work.

When I ask the OEM's, they say "we're out of stock of 485M's", which I know is BS because plenty of OEM's have 485M's for sale.

Maybe they're just concerned that having 485M's in a 3D laptop would be TOO MUCH AWESOMENESS!?!

Bump, still waiting. It would be really great if you could just "disable" the 3D display check at least in some super-beta, completely non-supported driver so we can have 3D on our 485M's.

We have the hardware to do it.
