What is the best quality 3D Vision Ready Projector available?
  1 / 2
I am interested in getting a 3D Vision Ready projector. Any suggestions on the best one? I am only concerned about the best gaming experience and not price. I already play games in 3d on a 3d vision ready pc/display(580x2 and acer 27") but want to take it to the next level. Thanks for your help!!

Basically you only can play 720p on a 3d projector(limitations of hdmi and no projector supports dvi-d). Personally I like 720p on a 80" projector more then 27" 1080p. No ghosting,no crosstalk. However is it worth it for you? Depends. You should probably wait for 1080p 3d projectors(though we have no idea when these will be available).

You can buy a $500
acer 5360 which is the best or tied for best of 720p projectors.

You can buy a 1000-2000
DLP Projection tv.These are capable of 1080 checkerboard. Which among users claim is almost as good as 1080p. See rollermod thread. Sizes are any where from 60-120"

Or buy a $1500-2000 720p 60hz-1080p24hz(unplayable 3d gaming) However they have better contrast, better max screensize.
Optoma hd33(not worth unless you really want to burn cash, this is more of an upgrade for 3d movie enthusiasts/also if you want a 1080p projecor(2d))

NON-3D VISION SOLUTION.TONS OF WORK. IZ3D + TRIDEF SUPPORT IT.
Dual projection passive.
I STRESS this is not for a novice. Requires tons of work.
Basically using a silver screen/paint. 2 1080p projectors(read a guide to see which people used and worked best). Both projectors have to match up PIXEL PERFECT. I am not a complete novice and this method scares me. I could probably get to work but requires DAYS for me to set up.

Personally if you are set going for projector (which is def. my favorite)
I recommend the acer 5360 OR ______ dlp projection tv. Look for rollermod and see which one's people like dlp projector tv's are capable of 1080 checkerboard 3d. People who have tried checkerboard 1080p are virtually unanimous they enjoy more then 720p.

Though projectors may be "3d vision ready". This just means they can use emitter and glasses. Not do 1080p @60hz. Acer 5360 can use glasses. Optoma hd33 can not(maybe if modded). Dlp projector tv I am uncertain but don't think so. DLP glasses such as the optoma zd101 are just as good as nvidia glasses.

I'd say we're fairly close to seeing an improvement of the HDMI standard, so it might be a good idea to wait if at all possible. If not, the aforementioned Acer model is definitely the most appealing choice.

You can buy 1080p 3d projectors JVC DLA is one of a few models :)

the acer 5360 is good for 720p but if your after a few more pixels the Viewsonic PJD6531w with the driver fix can pump you up to 800p which looks much better imo /laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

I have had a HD65 (non 3D), H5360 and now a HD 66. H5360s have a propensity to lose their EDID. There is an easy enough work around, but....
I find the HD66 to be brighter than the H5360. It doesn't have component input, and that is a drag. As well, fan is a bit noisier than the H5360.

All in all, I like what I am getting out of the HD66 better than the H5360.

A new projector that Optoma is showing at ISE looks interesting, can't find much on it yet, but it's passive ready. No idea if it's 1080 or 720 though.

the following is taken from a press release

""Passive 3D theatre using the EW775.Using the inherent speed of Optoma projector
technology, the EW775 will output video and images at an astonishing rate of 120Hz producing
full screen, full colour, stereoscopic passive 3D.The 3D effect is generated by splitting this
signal into two standard video streams, one for each eye. Passive 3D glasses will be available
to demonstrate the full immersive experience. The WXGA EX775, features 4500 ANSI lumens
and is one of many projectors from Optoma to be fully 3D-Ready.""

Here's a link to the PDF http://www.optomaeurope.com/uploads/ISE2012/Optoma_ISE_2012_Press_Release.pdf

It also mentions a 1920x1200 PJ with a user changeable color wheel and some other stuff about edge blending.

Saw the PDF a few days ago, looks like they actually have a product page up now http://www.optomaeurope.com/projectordetails.aspx?ShowMenu=B&PTypedb=Business&PC=EW775

Well Hell....

After looking at the product page they put up, it looks like it's just DLP active shutter glasess and not passive. Unless there is a polarizer option available or something. No idea what that press release is about, saying it's passive? Who knows.......

Yea seems a mess up. Its dlp on all the sites its mentioned. However it is already out in some european countries but its not really for consumer. Its one of those its so high priced, you have to contact us and ask for the price.

Its all different facts everywhere but seems to be for "large venues"

It's passive. The video frames are alternately projected through a polarization filter for the left/right eye.
The passive glasses then block one entire frame for one eye. Have not seen it my self. But in theory it should look just like an active glasses system.
Probably need a silver screen to preserve the polarization.

Also that thing is HUGE. No way that's hanging from my ceiling. Hopefully they come out with an affordable one for home use that works this way.

I would recommend the Optoma GT750e if you want or could use a short-throw projector.

I've heard nothing but good things about it and for $750, the price is right.

I just found out that my 1 year 4 month old H5360 requires $400 worth of repairs. So, the EDID was borked within a month of my purchase and had to rely on a workaround driver, and now the pj is dead. Couple that with the support system and we have a big lose. Sp is basically non-existent. If you want anything, the avenue that seems to be open is to pay for phone line sp. Free sp of any kind is either incomplete or just not there. Paid sp may be no better. The accent of the dude explaining why I had to pay does not fill me with confidence, if you know what I mean.
