Are PG278QR or XB271HUT better than PG278Q for 3D Vision ?
Hi,
Has somebody used both PG278Q and PG278QR or XB271HUT and could tell me how they compare ?
Are there improvements regarding crosstalk and contrast ?
I have the PG278Q and i would like to know if it's worth changing it for one of those.
I have found few reviews about them but almost no direct comparison.
thanks,
Cyril
personally, i had like you a PG278Q bought in 2014. i bought exactly 2 other PG278Q in 2016 to make a 3DSurround.
i didn't know about PG278QR, but however PG278Q is nice. i think it's always the best way (for compatibility and homogeneity) to have exactly same models like SLI.

Acer XB271HUT is IPS so not 3D Vision compatible. There is the XB271HUA which is TN version and 3D Vision certified, it uses the same panel as Dell S2716DG.
Most owners of both PG278QR and PG278Q report that the QR is noticeably better in 3D (less crosstalk, no visible scanlines).
If the crosstalk is really bothering you I would say go for it :D

This is new to me that the Acer XB271HUA would be 3D Vision certified. Where did you take that information from? I only know that the Acer Predator XB272 (full hd version) is certified.

[quote="NVicious"]I've had the Predator XB271HUA for about a month now and so far I'm loving it. Much less crosstalk than my old passive 3D monitor, and far better contrast and color. I think it's the same panel as the Dell S2716DG, there is slight pixel inversion but it doesn't bother me too much (a 5 degree backwards tilt helps, as reported by someone here on the forums).
Unfortunately I haven't seen the PG278Q(R) in 3D so I can't make a comparison but by all reports it is equal to or greater than the Dell and Acer in terms of quality. The Predator was the only real option for me here in Australia as the only way to get the PG278QR is online and cost $300 more!
I believe someone managed to get the PG279Q working with 3D Vision but they reported significant crosstalk issues and swapped eyes. I suspect the former is due to the slower IPS panel and would be common to any IPS monitor tricked into running 3D Vision.

See my comment in the other thread on the PG278QR, yes it's better and they are compatible in surround.

I'm pretty certain that if Nvidia allowed sync timing adjustment for the glasses, crosstalk could be further reduced on a lot of displays.
Tis sad that they did in the past, but removed the feature in 2009 with the official release of 3D Vision.
Can you please share the EDID for your new monitor.
Use Monitor Asset Manager from EnTech Taiwann, it's free and I've used it for years with zero issues.

Select the "real time" entry for your display, in the Display IDs window. Then click File > Create INF...
I'd like to compare it to my S2716DG and try it as an override to see if it has a better timing delay for the glasses built into the driver. My only complaint about the Dell, is that I have to dramatically lower contrast and brightness in order to get crosstalk to a minimum. Perhaps something in your EDID can remedy that.

Sure will do this for you later on when I am home. For now I am moving to the other thread.
