How is ATI/AMD for 3D these days?
I just ordered another GTX 570, but after reading a 7950 review am suddenly feeling like i made a mistake. I don't want to support Nvidia when 3DTV Play locks out AA and only give 720p, not SBS. I think I want to sell these and get back on the ATI bandwagon. But how is the 3D?

Still reliant on Tridef or iZ3d for 3D conversion.
There are a few native titles.

Yeah, you'll still be stuck with Tridef for most things, but AMD HD3D might be slowly catching on, since it's present in Deus Ex, Dirt 3, and Battlefield 3. 3D Vision is still the king when it comes to nabbing titles with native 3D support.

Better off getting nvidia card and tridef/3d vision to cover all options.

Maybe in future amd will be better off(their new card supports new hdmi format). Problem is it doesnt look like to many companies are interested in it yet.

Whatever issues you have with Nvidia solutions and support, you'll have more of them with AMD since they support far fewer options overall. Basically take away 3D Vision and 3DTV Play and a large chunk of the hardware and you have the AMD options.

With AMD HD3D you can run at 1080p 30hz instead of 24hz. However I'm not sure if this was implemented with Tri-def yet. I came from AMD HD3D to 3DVision/3DTV Play and find Nvidia's solution to be much better in terms of quality and support. I used both IZ3D and DDD when I had my 5870.

Also, what do you mean 3DTV Play locks out AA? I use 3DTV Play @ 1080p 24hz and can use AA just fine. I also prefer 1080p over 720p because interpolation smooths out 24fps to 120fps in 3D (though with some minor artifacts for fast paced scenes).

AA is not always an option with 3dvision, due to the red text box. As for 1080p@24, interpolation solves the laggyness of 24fps in some games, but is no cure for low responsiveness in the control department. Personally I would love SBS with 3dtvplay.
