How bad is Dead Space 2 in 3D? It may only be £3.75 but that's £3.75 wasted if 3D is no good.

Dont bother trying dead space 2 in 3d unless minimum depth and 0 convergence. Its like eye pain bad if you mess around with it.

That is your opinion but in my opinion it is worth it. High convergence (I don't know we're you got 0 convergence from) is a must with 15% depth. Because your mostly in tight corridors higher depth isn't needed anyway. Buy the game OP and you will enjoy it.

I tried Dead Space 2 in 3D. I agree with Richie72 - eye pain bad if you mess around with Convergance! Anyone played Dead Space 2 in 3D? Am using the Helix Mod fix http://helixmod.blogspot.in/2012/04/dead-space-2-3d-vision-fix.html Can you tell us what was the Depth and Convergence setting used? Also did you guys get pop-out effect that i see when i run the Stereoscopic 3D Test, where the words NVidia pops out beautifully!!

/\/\ I thought the negative complaints were only because this was an old thread? Weren't all these issues resolved and it's now a showcase game with the Helix mod?

I'm reading his comment that he is using the fix but things are still broken, if that's the case either the fix isn't installed properly or isn't working properly for whatever reason. They may have changed/fixed/broken something in the profile associated with Dead Space 2 ... wouldn't be the first time. I'd double-check that it's installed properly, if so, you could try removing the profile using NVIDIA Inspector ... I'll try to check mine out later if it's still installed.

The fix works 100% and I can confirm that the Helix fix is amazing. I played through it twice and this is my favorite game in 3D to date. If it's not working for anyone, you've definitely installed it incorrectly. Don't forget to check potential problems with either Origin or Steam, there are links inside this URL http://helixmod.blogspot.ca/2012/04/dead-space-2-3d-vision-fix.html

If I remember correctly, it didn't work for me at first either. I think I needed to use a different 'release' file to the one provided or there wasn't one included in the download...

Every time I hear a complaint about dead space its usually related to ghosting. Though some people confuse that with game issues. This thread was prior to fix.

I played DS2 about a month ago (with fix), it was excellent. Well, the 3d was. The game was just "okay", imo.

Interesting Comments. Thanx for the comments. I placed the Helix Mod fixes in the same folder, which contains the binaries. Thanx @ andysonofbob - I'll check if there are alternative fixes. So Can someone tell me - what was the depth setting and Convergance setting that was used? Also when people say - 'excellent 3D' - does that mean you guys enjoyed great 'pop out' effects?

NP You could get popout but I don't think it is a game where you can get 'great' pop out. I think great pop out is mainly seen in cinema where you have all that space in front of the screen to play with. Games, on the most part, seem to be best viewed behind the camera, so depth is more important. If you do want great popout I would suggest games like Prototype where you can zoom away from the action, but at the same time zoom the camera in. (There is a spike attack where long tendrels fire out from the protagonist.) I say it is great because the edge of the monitor isn't clipped by the ground, a wall or the avatar; the spikes shoot straight out the screen. [CAUTION] Prototype has 2D HUD elements. However, I do remember enjoying it at ~30% depth, with high convergence. To answer your question regarding 3D settings for DS2 - I played at 100% depth, with as much convergence as I could get before my character clipped the edge of my monitor, which isn't that much.

The problem with most games, with achieveing. "Pop-out" is you generally want to focus on gameplay but then cinematics/story scenes occur. Games where character is "far away" from camera its easier to achieve good pop-out. Lords of shadow is a good one. Devil May Cry 4 has a demo here if you want to try it out with helixmod fix. http://www.gamefront.com/files/Devil+May+Cry+4+Demo/;10504274;/fileinfo.html They are great because you are focusing on the character and the pop-out occurs on objects closer then character to camera [If you set your character as 2D with glasses off] Also games where you can set different settings for gameplay/cinematics allow you to customize the level of pop-out. Like DmC/Enslaved http://photos.3dvisionlive.com/eqzitara/image/5306ff10cb8577195100014e/ Here is a picture to show what I mean when I say. "Far from camera" --------------------------------------------------- Also First person games without "guns" are great. Mirrors Edge/ NarcissancE / Etc I've got videos for each but its going to seem low depth if you are on a monitor. I use a projector so its like 33% depth on a monitor. Anywho...
