Left 4 Dead problem: Player names at wrong depth Is there a way to correct this?
Hi,
I apologize ahead of time if I am posting this in the wrong forum but its the only one I found with GeForce 3D Vision. I have recently got my 3D glasses and giving some games a shot.
While playing Left 4 Dead I cant help but be annoyed at other player's names showing up in the foreground (closest to me) even if they are way ahead of me in the distance, causing a big blue blur when i focus at them. I looked through most if not all L4D console commands for a way to turn those name plates off but found nothing. My ALT+CTRL+Insert menu says my Clouds are set to wrong depth but I have found no "cloud depth" setting in Left 4 Dead options menus.
Is there a way to fix this problem? Any solution is appreciated.

Hi
This is a problem with the application and is common in some games. In the driver, we cannot dynamically change those labels to be at object depth, the developer will need to do it. WoW had a similar issue that Blizzard addressed in the 3.0.8 patch.
Valve is aware of the issue and we have provided them with hardware to help them in their debugging process. I have no information from them if a patch is forthcoming.

Thank you for the info. I have found a partial solution for anyone else out there playing L4D in MAX depth (as this is when the problem is most severe). This game is fantastic at max depth, once your eyes are used to it.
With console enabled the command cl_drawhud 0 removes these name tag, but also your health bar. This command works once you have sv_cheats 1, so do that first. Unfortunately for multiplayer most servers have sv_cheats 0, permanently. I really hope Valve adds the option to not display name tags in a near future update.
