The Witcher 3 mod list Steam GOTY 1.31
  2 / 2
@Pirateguybrush Like I said, don't hate on me. I fully explained my reasons, it's not like I or anyone else here, couldn't readily beat the game on max difficulty without mods. But thank you very much for posting an alternative list, that keeps in line with the games difficulty setting. @DJ-RK Enjoy! It's a great game Whether you use my mod choices or those posted by Pirateguybrush @Blacksmith56 I have had zero issues with immersive cam, but I have yet to play the DLC and the quest that masterotaku mentions.

Here's my list which I consider to be a 3dvision focused visual, gameplay and quality of life overhaul while keeping the games integrity and developer vision as much as possible. This configuration vastly improves the vanilla game without anything I really consider cheating as most is just convenience features or things balanced by other mods on this list. To keep the game challenging (I get bored otherwise) I use all of this on the highest difficulty (bar the Hardcore one life mode). A couple of these mods trivialize the game-play on the lower difficulties but has a very nice feel on the hardest one. I have tested all of these in a complete play-through using ghost mode and it all works perfectly as long as you correctly merge the scripts using the merge utility, use wise override choices and just be sure to read the compatibility between friendly hud and immersive cam carefully and adhere to the conflict instructions. Before I continue I'm just going to reinforce this point right here, cause I really cannot stress it enough and nobody else seems to have mentioned it. If you don't use anything else. Do yourself a favor and use ELysAllSkillsActive!!! With all of this the game has become my all time favourite 3d vision title, otherwise I probably couldn't say that. Without further adieu... https://www.nexusmods.com/witcher3/mods/2084

Lore Friendly Witchers

Improves the look of the lead character greatly

https://www.nexusmods.com/witcher3/mods/390

Hairworks on Everything but Geralt.

HD Reworked Project

Improves textures throughout the game

https://www.nexusmods.com/witcher3/mods/1021

Nitpicker

Fixes many little problems with the graphics

https://www.nexusmods.com/witcher3/mods/2117

I use all these effect mods below cause they just kill immersion as far as I am concerned. I want to be in this world not pretend I'm watching a movie or a camera man chasing the witcher around, and just in general look really wrong in 3D.

https://www.nexusmods.com/witcher3/mods/347

No Glare

Also Removes ugly lense flares in Toussaint which sit at screen depth.

https://www.nexusmods.com/witcher3/mods/2050

Remove Water Droplets from Screen.

Catches areas the 3dmigoto fix misses.

https://www.nexusmods.com/witcher3/mods/408

Lore Friendly Silver Swords.

muh immersion

https://www.nexusmods.com/witcher3/mods/445

I was also using turbo lighting mod but it breaks the water in 3D.

Quality of Life Improvements

Enemy Health Bar on Top.

ABSOLUTE MUST HAVE FOR 3DVISION! This places a health bar at the top of the screen instead of over the monsters head. this removes annoyances with hud depth in 3d

https://www.nexusmods.com/witcher3/mods/1617

Friendly HUD

Must have in my opinion improves the game greatly in general and especially in 3D

https://www.nexusmods.com/witcher3/mods/365

Sort Everything

Makes the inventory much more enjoyable to navigate

https://www.nexusmods.com/witcher3/mods/1710

Auto Loot

Collects everything in a radius on kill and should be used with the weight limit mod.

https://www.nexusmods.com/witcher3/mods/315

Immersive Camera (and all addons)

Absolute must have, and is completely customizable meaning the game will dynamically adjust for 3dvision if you set it up with some thought! Make sure you install the mod for improved movement if you are using a pad

https://www.nexusmods.com/witcher3/mods/689

All Quest Objectives on Map

I use this for convenience but actually turn off all question mark markers in game, as I would rather explore than use a map in this case.

https://www.nexusmods.com/witcher3/mods/943

Additional Stash Locations.

Enough said.

https://www.nexusmods.com/witcher3/mods/2034

Sensible Map Borders

Removes most of the annoying teleports and increases land mass.

https://www.nexusmods.com/witcher3/mods/1458

Better Icons

No more searching for that concoction through your ever expanding inventory everything is labelled.

https://www.nexusmods.com/witcher3/mods/1701

Colored Map Markers.

Makes the map navigation much nicer to use and look at.

https://www.nexusmods.com/witcher3/mods/938

Disable Story Books

I did not use this on my first play through but seems like they still play the first time, greatly removes annoyance from reloads or game startup

https://www.nexusmods.com/witcher3/mods/816

No Talk Icon.

Makes the game alot nicer to play in 3d and is completely not needed anyway.

https://www.nexusmods.com/witcher3/mods/339

Gameplay Enhancements and Overhauls

and now the fun stuff, most of these I could not imagine playing without....

All Skills Active.

ABSOLUTELY VITAL. If you do not install any other mod, install this one. It fixes the annoying progressions system in one fell swoop, without completely breaking the game and is compatible with everything as far as I know. This means as long as you put a point a point into a skill you can use it, no need for slotting abilities which really pigeon holes you into a certain play-style. Become the Witcher Geralt is supposed to be. This also as far as I am concerned removes the need for the additional slot mods and keeps a semblance of balance. Recommend you play on maximum difficulty so the game remains a bit of a challenge.

https://www.nexusmods.com/witcher3/mods/546

Random Encounters!

Another must have, completely customisable to your liking and adds some dynamics to the game, Creatures will actively hunt you. Makes the game feel more like a living world.

https://www.nexusmods.com/witcher3/mods/785

Auto Apply Oils

Game will select the correct oil and apply it for you when encountering the appropriate creature, as I mainly play this game completely in real time with the insta cast mod, this is a much appreciated addition.

https://www.nexusmods.com/witcher3/mods/625

Enhanced Targeting

Sounding like a broken record another must have, this greatly improves the control in combat no more will you accidentally target the wrong guy on the complete opposite side of the room.

https://www.nexusmods.com/witcher3/mods/1432

Gamepad and Realtime Improvements.

Vital for game plad users. Unsure why the developers chose the avenue that they did, but this mod allows you to cast all signs and Witcher abilities and well as your potion belt without using the radial wheel. Also improves the horse controls.

https://www.nexusmods.com/witcher3/mods/50/

Jump in Shallow water

makes navigating water areas much more enjoyable.

https://www.nexusmods.com/witcher3/mods/659

No more rolling down stairs

If you have played the game for any significant amount of time you will understand why you want this.

https://www.nexusmods.com/witcher3/mods/497

Parry with Torch

Due to the changes in lighting and such with the graphics mods this allows you to navigate those foreboding subterranean areas and still fight sufficiently with a torch. Good for immersion and saving on toxicity from cat potions.

https://www.nexusmods.com/witcher3/mods/1007

Weight Limit Increased

Vital for use with auto loot mod.

https://www.nexusmods.com/witcher3/mods/1007

Ghost Mode. (game-play overhaul, choose this or TW3EE)

Makes the default experience better balanced and more challenging to abide by the lore in the books. Optional and only choose this or TWEE. I used this in my main playthrough

https://www.nexusmods.com/witcher3/mods/1007

Witcher 3 Enhanced Edition Overhaul

Another alternative game-play overhaul mod that just got an update. I will be using this for my future New game+ run through. Warning: this is the one mod I haven't tested on a full playthrough on this list

https://www.nexusmods.com/witcher3/mods/2521
Been meaning to, but kinda put off by the enormity of the adventure ahead, so being able to cut down the fat for a more streamlined approach might help to finally take the plunge.
I don't know if there actually is any fat - there sure isn't much. I got 193 hours of the best RPG I've ever played from Witcher 3. Better than Baldur's Gate 2 (though BG's combat is definitely more fun), better than Final Fantasy 7, better than Skyrim. You don't rush this game, you SAVOR it! Squeeze out every minute of fun you can! I didn't use many mods. The 3D Vision mod, obviously, and a mod to free the camera for better screenshots (turn it back on Geralt in a sex scene and you'll see exactly why he can't have children ;). I guess I got a mod to get rid of screen splatter - or was that an option in the game by the time I played? Whatever. Oh, and a little mod to put some nudity in the brothel. P.S. When you're done playing W3, don't follow up with another story-rich game. That would be cruel.

In which case, you'll have to swim around until you find a spot that will actually let you climb out. I really enjoyed the game overall, the story, just as in the first two, is what makes it so awesome. The graphics are stunning and immersive. But... The combat is overall lackluster and clunky, better than the first two games though. Too often things like dodge, parry or signs do not proc in a timely fashion. What really sucks is the jumping, absolutely horrible implementation. If it had combat like Castlevania or Darksiders, I would not have bothered with cheating. As far as fat, I could do without the 50+ smuggler events and the other 50+ guarded treasure events. Ok, maybe not quite that many, but what a waste of time. (and yes, I do know that they are optional)

Many of the mods listed in first post Id never install because they just make you cheat the game. Im playing with these: Friendly Hud Enhanced Targeting HD Reworked Project GhostMode Preparations Also my last playthrough was in permadeath mode with some hardcore ruleset, like never stealing from owned houses.

Over 220 hours and I have never once fallen through the world. There might be some conflict with other mods going on here. Also I completely hear you about the combat problems the game has. (Although I would argue it's still a lot better than the likes of Skyrim.) One of the reasons I modded it so significantly gameplay wise was because of this. This is the thing that truly makes modding so amazing. Over time fans can fix the poor design decisions the developers chose to make. Also AllskillsActive means you can utilize all the raw combat techniques you would otherwise be locked out of which goes along way to making the combat feel better, and at least 100x more engaging. On hard the creatures are a bit more aggressive as well. (or is that a mod I have....) The Immersive cam addeon that fixes the movement is also vital. It's also really fun to play around with the advanced slow motion options on critical hit and dodge. Just wish could do something about the awful Crossbow system. I personally wish it worked more like breath of the wild. Other thing I would have to say, yeah it's actually amazing what they accomplished story wise with this game, almost every single side quest has an interesting narrative and this is the thing that has been driving me away form the open world games recently especially things like DA:I and Mass effect: Andromeda. There's no fat. I never really felt like I was just repeating myself. Dj-RK if you can stomach the hours of fed-ex quests like I have just been in final fantasy online you won't even feel it here. There's no run across the world and deliver me 3 badger assholes missions. The only thing I would say is turn off the question marks on the map just allow yourself to experience them dynamically. This is the one area of the game that has that Ubisoft open world feel. Once i turned them off It just made exploration actually interesting and a sense of wonder about what was around the next corner.

Lots of good "heads-ups" in your list and comments. Thanks so much for posting all that.
I have played the game pretty much in full with this mod. Over 220 hours and I have never once fallen through the world. There might be some conflict with other mods going on here.
It's only a problem when you are out of bounds, not during normal gameplay. The whole point of the mod is to let you wander out of bounds, which isn't a good idea in this game. It's better to leave the default boundary teleporter in place, since the out of bounds area does not add anything that you are missing.

Ok yeah I understand that, but I have pushed it as well especially when testing this mod out and never had the issue. Your mileage may vary I guess.
