Bit Trip Runner 2 is a catalog sale for 2.54. I was wanting 75 percent during the fall sale (and it was only 66), and now it's 83% for the duration. Heard great things about the 3D. And it's supposed to be easier than BTR1 (which is a very good thing in my book).

Given the precise nature of the gameplay, that makes it really annoying. I spent hours trying to get it to work stutter-free, but it only worked sometimes. It's great when it works, though. Very fun and has a much more luscious feel compared to the first game.

Thanks guys for the heads up about Bit.Trip Runner2. So it's definitely 3D Vision friendly? I couldn't find anything about it on their Steam forum.

The only issue I have is that I'm utterly rubbish at games which require coordination and reflexes :-) The 3D looks great, so as long as it doesn't stutter it should be well worth the price.

For what it's worth, my strategy for doing Steam sales is to wait for the daily sales on any given game. Daily sales are always better than the default sale price. Like 75% off instead of 40% off. Problem is, the game you like may never hit a daily sale. Two things- put it on your wishlist, so you'll get notified by email if it hit's a flash sale, or daily sale, and check back if you can. Second thing, wait until the last day of the sale, and if it still hasn't gone deeper discount, then pick it up then. As an example. Dishonored. On 75% off right now, lowest price it's seen to date. If you want it you should get it now, because tomorrow it will revert to 50% off instead. If you want Max Payne 3, it's 60% off. Pretty good. But lowest price was $4 two weeks ago, and it might go back to that during a daily sale. Wait on it until last day if necessary.

/\/\ That's obviously the sound strategy... unless it's already over 75 percent off. I don't remember a game that was 75+ off ever then also going lower with a feature sale. Although I have seen a couple of those games pull their large markdown. So I feel perfectly safe going that way. In fact, I think it's actually the smarter way since you guarantee you'll actually get it.

It's a good strategy for noobs (who due stupid things), but veterans know which games have no chance at being a featured sale and when okay to buy on day one. This is especially important because there are often price mistakes and on occasion, just titles who get their discounts pulled. If it's bordering on a little too good to be true, go for it immediately. And you're talking a true CAGer. I take pride the vast majority of my library being purchased at historical lows. Occasionally a AAA will reach a new rock bottom (by dropping from 19.99 to 9.99 as a base), but I've got this down to a science by now. Only catalog games I've purchased this sale are: Star Wars Force - Pinball FX2 (was 75 percent off when everything else was only 50), Bit Trip Runner 2 (83%), and Bit Trip Fate (90% - .99 cents). Almost made back the 99 cents on selling the cards for Fate. Wanted to buy before people wised up to the higher card prices. LOL. Bought for that reason alone.

Was thinking about getting Dead Island to play with a buddy of mine. But, I only see a Dead Island: Riptide 3d fix on the Helix gamelist. Will the Riptide fix work with the original Dead Island? Seems like a game that would be fun in small doses...

Bugs would be twice as messy when playing with someone else. Look for borderlands 1/2 if you havent played it yet imo.

Awesome price on Aliens, $2 is where I'll pretty much buy anything as long as it has 3D. Thanks for the links above, interesting strategy suggestions, but yup, nothing really new. I'll add one last thing I do (that I didn't see above) in case it's helpful. Look on SteamGameSales, and look for the game price history. You can tell whether you are at the lowest price ever for a given game. e.g. Dishonored, at it's lowest price to date is $3.19, so current 75% off is good, but not epic. http://www.steamgamesales.com/ZMUa8/dishonored Lastly, since I cringe whenever I look at that 41% completion rate in Steam, and reflect that really, I don't need any more stinkin' games- unless they are at 80% off, or $5 or less. I've never seen anything go less than those, except for stuff that is pretty old, in which case the bar is 90% off, or $2. Man, still surprises me though to see something like Bioshock Infinite hit $10 in less than a year. Deservedly because of their 3D hostile attitude, but still a surprise.
