Pauldusler thought you have the w1070. anyway... EDID won't be enough? i will need the DSR also? you know how to do this? and i will have the rainbow effect afterwards? oh my...
No, I have the W710ST. I think the W1070 is pretty good - Pirateguybrush confirmed that there are no rainbow effects. It uses RGBRGB wheel - so no issues. DSR is optional. Since 720p is a pretty low resolution you can pimp it up with DSR. This works by internally computing a higher resolution and downsampling it back to 720p. The effect is similar to 4x or 8x MSAA. By this you can downsample 4k to 720p and the image quality is really good then. It's up to you if you want to use this feature. W1080ST+ owner here - you can't go wrong with the W1070 at the price point, the W1080ST+ is basically the same projector with shorter throw but it doesn't have vertical lens shift. It's bright enough for me to game with a 1.1 screen, though there is more to desired there. You can probably get an ALR screen with a higher gain since the projector has vertical lens shift for a brighter image, at least I know I would :) . Gaming and movies are awesome - you can enable Top and Bottom 1080p 3D with 3D Migoto.

Vas22 thanks. that's very encouraging. after 6 days of reading\struglling which one to purchase. none of us likes the feeling of finding out that we made a wrong choice when it comes to waiting a few weeks for shipping after spending a hundreds of bucks.

a months salary for a projector... buy or not to buy thats the question. then again 1440p 144hz monitor would cost same WITH a GPU to run it im used to 72hz as my monitor now runs at that... and im not happy with 1080p resolution at 70cm away in fps shooters... or a used old projector with lower quality. damn now im torn maybe ill just buy 3DTv to get gradually in 3D gaming and do extra work to afford top of line 3d experience later on hmmmm I JUST LOVE 3D cant decide cant wait, i cant even play 2D games anymore. even cyan/red gives me fix. every of those hellish dlp wheel machines have RBE , it can´t be eliminated, even if the speed would be 100 times it would not eliminate the RBE effect. It´s the viewer who decides. some don´t see them. Some see. sometimes some don´t see them in specific surroundings. I once for example watched optoma hd25e at the store and i did not see RBE that many times, atleast it did not not bother me that much. as same priced VIVITEk was like a headache machine from furuture. i could not stand in the same space my back on the screen with that vivitek machine. and supporsedly they were about the same tech vise. no sir. then i took the hd25e home, watched a movie..hmm i could live with it.... then after a while switched on my 3 chip sxrd. ou the soothnes of the image. i could not keep the hd25e. i felt it fried my brains when ever using. You gotta know im supper sensitive to RBE... but still i can watch a movie from time to time at my friends house who has benq 1110 and it´s ok. Yes i see the flashing of hell when ever i move my eyes. yes i have a bad habbit, i like big image and that correlates to moving your eyes on the scene. BUT I WOULD NEVER CHOOSE MONITOR OVER PROJECTOR no matter the mode. big is big how you bake it. And people who do not have experience in projector image somehow believe it´s gainy or something. That fullhd image looks much better 10 times bigger when projected to a surface than in your monitor. And if you can stand 1 chip DLP the image is SHARP. I would love a dual projector setup of some 3 chip dlp projectors but it costs as much as a new garage. bluray image on 720p projector is not as different you would thought, so if you mainly game then 720p is much better choise for you. Native is always NATIVE one quick word about the RBE, you eather see it or you don´t, you propably learn how to live with it, if you don´t get headaches from it. i would suggest , check prices, choose a shop and make a deal, you buy them a projector but you wanna test dlp for RBE, and if it´s not for you, you can swap the projector for 3 chip machine.

Metal-O-Holic. thanks for the info. i wish i had the experience you have with porjectors but not your sensitivity to rbe lol. i am about to buy today the w1070. if people here are happy with EDID and it's results i i am pretty sure i will be too. the only one projector i had that died was native - 768*1024. i hope to have a similar or better 3d with the Benq. time will tell.
oh man. i have a chance to grab 300€ HD25. Say only HD25 not with e Doesnt say anything about the lamp. Does it show how many hours left? New bulb cost like 200$. Maybe better buy new for 500-600-700 and you have new bulb and superb quality. Maybe i can get similar quality with 720p projector for ~300€ new? Man... LCD monitors would be better. 50.000h lamp life, 720p, 3000+ lumen, 250€ but only god awful Blue/Red 3d... This sport is expensive guys xD Im currently eyeing 32" Samsung 3D tv es6500fxza I might just buy another set of cyan / red glasses live with that for a while lol :( wish projector tech would go faster

i think lamp price is one thing projector person should not ever think about more than " are the spare ones reasonable priced " there is always the chance of lamp dying and exploding. it´s just the X factor. who knows, that used lamp might last longer than a lamp on a new projector. hd25 and 25e are the same, but with firmware diffrences what i understood.

No luck in getting the w1070. Too old. New one is too expensive on ebay and no shipping on amazone. Will be happy for more suggestions.

If your main intent is surfing the web, watching bluray/HD movies, playing low FPS games, then 1080p 60FPS projector is the best choice for 2D picture quality and high resolution. If your intent is to play high FPS games in both 2D and 3D, then 720p 120FPS projector is the best choice for 3D picture quality and high (2D) FPS. All the best!

That's great that you have decided on a projector Hanangabai. For note to anyone reading this thread in the future: Aside from image degradation at 720p, if you intend to play 2D games then just like gaming monitors which all boast 120Hz refresh rates, you should be aiming for 120fps on 120Hz projector input. A lot of the 720p projectors boast 120Hz input to show 120FPS. All 1080p projectors AFAIK are limited to 60Hz/60FPS. Most high motion gamers (FPS, action games etc) will tell you that 120FPS 720p is better than 60Hz 1080p. So it comes down to this: If your main intent is surfing the web, watching bluray/HD movies, playing low FPS games, then 1080p 60FPS projector is the best choice for 2D picture quality and high resolution. No point in buyin 500€ worth of eye strain headache

I'm afraid I have been out of the loop for a long time - I do not know what is currently out there and I have not done the research. However, joker18 has a Benq W1300, which is out of production. I believe he is able to run near 1080p 3D Vision at 100Hz/100FPS with it. It's not 120FPS, but it's much better than 60FPS. I do not remember many details but perhaps a modern version of this projector would be suitable? You might want to ping him and invite him to this thread.

Its RGBRGB with great reviews and a 1 year model so it's kind of new.
