Advise on shadow glitches (GTA IV, Aion,...) Also for displaced elements like target names, health b
Hi fellows,

in many games, like GTA IV or Aion, shadows and ingame text/graphs over target heads aren't rendered at correct depth in 3d.

What helped me immensly here and leads to pretty neat effects is to go for a combination of low depth and high convergence. With depth at 12% and convergence as high as possible when zoomed in, these games look impressive and the mentioned glitches are almost reduced to zero. It seems rather simple but for a long itme I simply thought that these games are too buggy in 3d to be playable. I was simply wrong. I just had used too much depth. The beauty of this is that less depth allows more convergence , so while use losse depth obviously you gain correct shadows etc AND more pop-out.

Another side effect is that clicking on far away targets with a 2d mouse cursor works very good too now. Rather nice.

Thanks, that works quite well for GTA4. Still, it is a shame that the daytime shadows arnt rendered in 3d, if it wasn't for that this would be a really great 3D experience.

Thanks, that works quite well for GTA4. Still, it is a shame that the daytime shadows arnt rendered in 3d, if it wasn't for that this would be a really great 3D experience.

I just turn off the shadows in GTA4

3D more than makes up for the loss in cool lighting. But be happy, we are approaching the end of games not working correctly in 3D. Soon, all games will be standardized to work in 3D and all will be well (I hope)
