PJD6210 Can't get working

I think that was for a different projector, but it seems to have a much more forgiving 3D Display detection wizard.

Ok, problem #1: Have to use Dual-Link VGA cable that came with Kit. I was using a 25ft VGA cable because 3ft is too short.

But this didn't help either.

The emitter will not go into 3D mode. Installing the older 1.15 drivers cause other errors and I couldn't even run the Setup Wizard.

So something is keeping the emitter from going into 3D mode. I notice when the wizard runs, the projector changes from the windows resolution of 1024x768 at 60hz to 1600x1200 at 85hz. I would think it would need to run at 60hz to run stereoscopic screens and fit within the 120hz of the projector. And I can only run the wizard once. If I run it again before disconnecting and reconnecting the emitter or restarting the machine, then it tells me it doesn't detect a 3D capable device.

Maybe the 1.18A drivers?

I have heard of people mentioning a problem of the set up not running at the optimal res to get 120hz causing the wizard to fail. It is probably mentioned on this forum somewhere.

Good timing. I just got it to work.

Uninstall all Nvidia Drivers, boot in Safe Mode and run Driver Cleaner.

Then install the newest Nvidia Drivers and the 3D Vision drivers 1.20.

And worked like a charm just following the Wizard. I was surprised when it instantly detected my ViewSonic, which it didn't do before and it ran in the correct 1024x768 res at 120hz.

So, now just to test with games and movies. The fun part...

EDIT: And it works with the 25ft dual link VGA cable I bought. So now I'm not worried about mounting it and using 3D Vision with it either. BONUS!

Oh nice! Can't wait to hear how it performs! Wife is sick of me trying to decide on a PJ, lol.

Games run great. The detail is a bit lost, but a nice trade for 3D. Need to adjust Gamma a bit for a few of the games.

I'll need to update my PowerDVD or download some 3D clips and try them. I think all the BluRay 3D movies I have are anaglyph though. Anyone have a good 3D movie to test with 3D Vision?

Hey thanks again for the update! I'd be interested in hearing how (2D) movies looked. I think I'm going to order this PJ today. I was about to get the Optoma HD66 or Acer H5360, but I think I will wait it out and spend less since no one thinks 3D Blu-Ray is going to work with these HDMI 1.3 projectors. I can get this PJ now and wait for more info on 3D Blu-Ray in the coming year.

There are some 3D test videos on the nVidia 3D Vision page, not sure if you've seen those.

EDIT: Just ordered it!

Regular movies look great. Wish I had an HD box down here on our Direct TV signal, but it's upstairs.

Gonna watch the Superbowl on it though and have it filling the entire 80" 16:9 screen. I think I've enticed some friends over to watch. ; )

EDIT: Awesome deal for a screen too. I was surprised how well constructed it is for the price. It pulls apart horizontally, instead of hanging and pulling down. The stand and all compacts into a carryable case.

Nice screen! I actually ordered a screen and mounted some time ago. Pull down kind for $57 on Amazon. :P Can't wait to get the PJ, I'm currently getting my cable solution worked out to hook up my PS3.

I got a component cable for the PS3, anyone know if this adapter will work correctly? Got my 6210 all set up. Detection of the display via the 3D Vision wizard was effortless! 3D is in-freaking-sane. ZERO ghosting.

@mythiasis: When you go into 120hz mode does the PJ do a serious color adjustment (lots of colors changing until it sets) and also make noise (fan noise etc)?

Yep. Kind of like a degauss. It takes about 5 seconds to clear up and sync. Works fine afterwards. Gonna set up my BluRay player on it this weekend and watch Transformers 2.

Check the 1080p Toy Story 3 trailer on Apple Trailers. I was really impressed at the clarity!

Is your Blu-Ray player a PC drive hooked through VGA? Lemme know how it looks! I have a component VGA converter on order for PS3. I'll post up the results when it comes. Considering a PC BD drive though.
