will panasonic TC-L37DT30 work with 3dtv play (not on supported list)
1 / 2
The Panasonic VIERA TC-L37DT30 37-Inch 3d-tv isn't listed in 3dtv play's supported tv list. BUT the 32" version, the TC-L32DT30, is listed. Does anyone know if the 37" will work anyways?
If not, then perhaps there is a way to force 3dtv play to work with any given 3d tv set? What features does a 3dtv have to have to be compatible with 3dtv play, tridef, iz3d?

It's unlikely that anyone will have experience with this model because pretty much everyone here uses Samsung HDTVs as it's the only brand that does 3D gaming in native res with Nvidia 3D software. All I can tell you is that generally, the support list is a only subset of what actually works. Many Samsungs work perfectly that are not on the list, so the chances are in your favor.
Don't know about iZ3D, Tridef, but 3DTV Play must 'see' an HDMI1.4 connection, that's the criteria. Of course you can 'fool' 3DTV Play into detecting an HDMI1.3 connection with rollermod, in which case 3DTV Play is abandoned and 3D Vision is used.

roller (or anyone), do you know of any 37" 3DTV PLAY compatible TVs (preferably w/ similar features to the panasonic) made by samsung or any other brand that are sold in the US? The 37" models on the list seem to be overseas models other than the one mentioned in this thread.
andrewf, how easily can the tv be supported if it doesn't work with 3DTV PLAY? what would you have to do at nvidia to support it? I'd like to know before purchasing the tv. Thanks.

So, no one knows of any 37" lcd/led 3DTVs (sold in the US) that work with 3dtv play for sure?
And, andrewf you said you could easily add support for the TV so if the Panasonic TC-L37DT30 doesn't work, who do I contact?

sorry i didn't clarify. I don't have it yet. so, if there's no other 37" option, I will be getting it.

I understand you want a 37", but know that if you get the Panasonic, you'll be forced to game in scaled 1280x720 resolution and worse, you'll be forced into Video processing mode for your PC graphics. Native resolution 1920x1080 is possible only with Samsung, and you get PC pixel processing, not Video.

does that go for any and all samsung models? what features does a TV have to have in order to do pc pixel processing and native 1080p? do you know of any models from samsung that are 34.4" wide 22.5" height (give or take an inch or two) that can do native 1080p pc gamign and pc pixel processing?

Only all Samsung 2010 models/sizes have checkerboard mode (native rez at full frame rate), plus 2011 LED models D7000/D8000. PC mode/1080P is built into all Samsung models, it must be one time enabled.
22.5 height is about 46 inch diagonal which I believe would be their 47" size. All Samsung TVs refered to can do CB mode / PC processing, it isn't a matter of size. CB mode is always PC processing.
To clarify, all Samsungs, even those not listed, can do 1080P in PC processing. The restricted list can also 3D game in CB mode. If you are going to use your Samsung as a computer display, even if you never play games, first thing to do is put it in PC processing mode. This is true for any brand.

So, how do i go about enabling checkerboard mode in a tv that has it? And is there ANY 37" that supports it? I looked around for any mitsubishis and samsungs and there doesn't seem to be any. The height/width i gave is the total measurement for the panasonic 37", so i'm basically looking for any tv of that size (plus or minus and inch) that can handle checkerboard. If not, then what is the best 37" 3dtv for pc use?

On samsung 2010 models: From the samung menu > Inputs > edit name > HDMI1/DVI > DVI PC
Samsung 2011 models : Source > tools > inputs > edit names > HDMI1/DVI > DVI PC
HDMI1.4 cable must connect from the computer to the '(DVI)' HDMI1/DVI input in all cases.
This is also the procedure for changing HDMI1/DVI from Video processing to PC processing.

I would avoid Panasonic, they are the only brand that does not do native resolution via the VGA connection.
I can't say for sure if this set works with 3dvison but the tv just came out in march and it does use HDMI 1.4. I just bought it a few weeks ago and all the reviews have it as the best 3D tv for that size. Please add the US versin I would love to give it a try.

That's the problem with 'all these reviews', reviewers *never* test the one thing we care about, 3D PC gaming.
So far, the only HDTVs that have been reported to work under 3D Vision are the Samsungs.

Not true! please dont tell lies when you obviously dont know about the set in question. I have the set and installed 3dplay tv and it does work. It give you 2 options (neither are scaled) 720p 60hz or 1080P 24hz.
