Crysis 2 Profile/Driver Support Does what's available for download now support the game?
  7 / 8
After playing the PC version for some time now, I can say that this game does not use layered 3D but real 3D (at least the PC version), only the default 3D settings are very conservative with extremly less depth.

Thanks to the findings of some forum members I was able to adjust the Crysis 2 system.cfg/autoexec.cfg variables to values that give me a better stereo experience than I'm used to have (with really big separation and infinit depth at the horizon, useable iron sight and HUD object markers at the right depth).

While the game can output the 3D directly to HDTVs in side-by-side, interlaced or checkerboard mode, I prefer the output through the nVidia 3D vision driver (which seems to be the default if the game detects a 3D vision driver installation).
Pease note that the 3D vision driver is not actually used to generate the second view required for 3D, it is just given the 2 stereo views already rendered by the game internal stereo algorithm, to bring it on the screen regarding the selected 3D vision output (Generic CRT, Generic DLP, 3DTV Play or anaglyph).
The advantange of using the driver path is that the nVidia 3D separation hotkeys work in-game (Ctrl+F3/F4) and that the weired disortion effects showing up at the left and right screen edges for higher separation values can be surpressed with the right frustum setting (Ctrl+F11). I had to change the in-game FOV setting to 80 to compensate the horizontal extend caused by the frustum setting and get a realy good view.

The only downside of the Crytec stereo implementation is a strange disortion effect around all nearer objects (especially the weapon), which gets more noticable with higher 3D separation.

But on the other hand, it also brings some advantages:
- The 3D related variables in the system.cfg allow to set the convergence and other stereo related parameters
- The depth of the HUD display can be adjusted separately (I actually have it floating in front of my screen, way cool!)
- The in-game cross hair is real 3D
- All HUD object markers are drawn at the right distance and not floating at screen depth as usual
- The iron sight works perfectly(!) in 3D due to a convergence-shift used while aiming, amazing!

So all-in-all I'm rather satisfied with the 3D experience, though I would love to see an optional true dual rendering approch for the PC version to get rid of the disortion effect around the weapon.

So here are my settings I'm using on a 50" 3D HDTV:

uhhh
most of the game uses the screen space reprojection method
but then came this scene: [attachment=20380:Crysis201_99.jps]
Which is clearly just the world rendered into a 2d plane which is offset somewhere inside the screen
Proof (just overlayed both images into one, offset one so that the pixels of the world match, only the weapon and hud are actual 3d)
[attachment=20381:crysis overlayed.jpg]

what the hell crytek ?

Interesting find on crymod.
Nvidia will rescue us from this major dissapointment by releasing a driver with full dual-image stereo support with unlocked depth and convergence, force antialiasing (the real thing), and SLI.

Crosses fingers.

Thankyou to the people posting configs,

However, I tried the one posted by Nobsi and I had a Major problem with the Mouse and the Menu's.

When I placed the mouse on menu item's and clicked, nothing happened. It didn't even highlight the Menu item as I moused over them.

I did get into the game and it ran fine. Just a problem with the Menu's.

It was that bad I couldn't even exit the game. I had to CAD and shut it down from task manager.
