1:: Are there slight differencies between 3D Vision 2.0 glases in regards to ghosting?
2:: Is the timing of the shutter in any way adjustable/hackable??
(I think ghosting could be in small parts due to sync issues.)
3:: Are their alternatives to 3D Vision for 3D PC gaming?
Ones with adjustable shutter timings.
4:: I just bought a 1440p monitor(PG278QR) and a GTX 1080ti preordered on Amazon in 2 weeks.
Meaning all game tests will be AFTER my return period.
Is the gtx 1080ti and 1440p a wise choice?
I don't like playing on medium settings, ...minimum high/very high.
But many games won't run with 120fps on 1440p.
I totally forgot the issue with downscaling!!!! in games AND movies.
Need help with this one the most.
Maybe I should have gone for a cheaper 4K or a 1080p monitor for non 3D games and movies,..and 3D only on projector.
I think I will buy one soon, depends on how much I like the 3D.
I just realized that even looking youtube in 1080p will be bad,...damn.

My plan was to get 1080 Ti then 1440p coming from 660 Ti and 1080p and I'm sure it's a perfect fit but I had to return the PG278QR. Also, you don't always need 120fps to enjoy it all.

Yes, but 1080p is definitely alot easier to achieve 60fps at max settings.
I also hate to compromise on graphics settings. But It really depends on what type of frame rate you expect. 30 Fps no problem. 60, you will need to make some compromises in 3dvision in very demanding games. I fall into the later camp. Which is why I went SLI. Also sadly not ideal in alot of circumstances.
However I do not regret moving up to 1440p at all. Surround 3D, well that's another story entirely.... (for a surround setup I feel you are best to stick to 1080p in 3d)
Usually you can cut the real demanding options that have little visual impact and could be argued an actually detrimental one. Things that I find completely pointless in most games, and made worse in 3dvision. Mainly the movie inspired artificial effects (Depth of field, Camera motion blur, Chromatic Abberation, lense flares, on screen effects ect.) and that's usually enough to push into the 60fps territory.
One exception to the motion blur rule, is Tekken for me. I have been recently playing the ps4 version and it doesn't have motion blur for character movement that the arcade and PC does and boy does it feel jerky and choppy when the characters are moving fast. despite being locked at 60fps too. Can never stand it on the camera though.
I also usually run at a much lower AA value than I normally would, but in 3dvision at this resolution it's an easy choice to make. But with everything else on Maximum

Just realized I have 30 day return on Amazon,...never returned anything before...I hate that mentality normally.
So enough time to test,..my 1080ti arrives 2 weeks later. But DIRECTLY from Amazon,..which should be good in terms of warranty.
But I guess I will stick with that monitor,...1440p seems a good fallback if game is not playable in 3D.
How about youtube?? or movies in general?
1080p youtube will be watched alot.
Also TV shows.
4k movies/Tv shows and downscale? acceptable?
Depends on what you value. For me the immersion and detail of 3d in 1440p is more enjoyable than getting some extra features like hair works or highest AA settings. At 1440p I don't feel the need for some of these settings that have more use at 1080p.
On this flip side on some demanding games getting 60 fps might not be attainable so if that is your most important feature you might think twice about 1440p.
For me without a doubt I prefer the experience of 1440p.
I also think there could be a new round of graphics cards will come out (this year?) and that should make 1440p even better.

There's so much more detail in 1440P 3D, be warned though, this is a one way ticket!
Like the other guys said, turn down AA to the lowest setting, if the day should come where I have to turn it off - I'll do it !
I allways play my games on high-ultra settings, a game like Dishonored 2 is very demanding, but it's very playable with some minor stuff cut down to high!
I don't have any ghosting, except for blue sky places here and there, dark places with bright light sources - ZERO !
But do spend some time on calibrating it, don't just use others recommendations, use your own eyes!
Another great thing is oldies in 5120P DSR and no AA, it just looks amazing!

1- I don't know. I think the difference should be in battery life and glasses shape (not the glass itself). But I didn't use any v1 kit.
2- The timing of the glasses? Not that I know of. I only know about tricks to use custom refresh rates, which the glasses accept without trouble (between 64Hz and 165Hz at least).
3- Alternatives... there is Tridef, and there was AMD HD3D for a short time. 3D Vision has a lot more game compatibility with all the fixes the community made. And better hardware. No idea about custom shutter timings.
4- The PG278QR and the GTX 1080Ti are a good combination. If there are demanding games where you don't reach 60fps per eye, you can set your monitor to 100Hz to have 50fps per eye (if you can handle the flickering).
there was AMD HD3D for a short time.
AMD HD3D was simply AMD adding stereoscopic support to their drivers for the flags found in the HDMI 1.4 specification. This allows the stereoscopic format to be automatically chosen to match the format that the display supports. They also added Quad Buffered support via HDMI.
This was simply a move to offer better compatibility with middleware apps like TrI-Def, Power DVD Ultra and others. AMD never offered their own stereoscopic middleware.
AMD HD3D is still viable and supported, but AFAIK, it is still limited to HDMI. However, it is possible that they've implemented Display Port support, I haven't checked.

MY question was if their are diff between same products...is one 3D Vision v2, maybe slightly better in ghosting than a other 3D Vision v2, due to tiny tiny diff in manufacturing.
My first own bought PC ever!! So excited guys..I started with c64,..but later always gamed on old machines.
I was top 3 in world in "project reality"(BF2 mod, and still the best online FPS I know), but my machine always only could handle low settings and 720p, AND LESS THAN 24 FPS!!!
While others had like high settings, 1080p and 100+ frames..lol.
This is my first custom build computer, but this time I wanna go big.
I will buy a projector soon as well,....really would like to have a cheap 4k one. But input lag is concern,...I will wait a bit,...see what comes on the market.
Anyways, thank you big time for your help,..Monday all parts should be delivered by amazon,...but my 1080ti in April. Directly from amazon,...they have one in stock in April for 1010€!!!
This is the worst time to buy a computer, but this time I really want it,...fuck the price!!

Keep the 1440p and turn the resolution to 1080p for 3D gaming. Best of both worlds right? Or am I missing something? I've got the Asus PG278QR + 1080TI combo as well and it's been the best setup I've ever had. I could not go back to 1080p.

You are missing something. Going down to 1080p from a 1440p gives you a horrible blurry image it doesn't scale down 1:1 on current LCD monitors. I think 4k down to 1080p works though. Hopefully will see some decent 4k 3dvision monitors in the future. (TV's are a no go for me.)

If you want to play in 1080P 3D, you achieve the best result with a native 1080P monitor, otherwise it gets blurry like Necro said!

If you want to play in 1080P 3D, you achieve the best result with a native 1080P monitor, otherwise it gets blurry like Necro said!
But why would you want that ??
