Every single AC game has been 3D capable. Now, because of a brand new game engine, AC3 is not recommended for 3D? What the hell? Hopefully you guys are working on drivers for this game because if you've ever played this game in 3D, you'll never go back. You can't see where you're going in 2D as clear as you can in 3D. Free running, jumping and grabbing ledges is 100 times easier in 3D. This needs to happen. Every 3rd person game needs to be in 3D. I didn't buy my NVIDIA 3D Vision kit to play strategy games in 3D.

My experience is that games like this will not change. The visual graphics on this game were way too high. They didn't need to set the bar so high. People aren't buying new PCs or PC hardware because it's lasting long then ever before. I'm still rocking LGA775 and three GTX 470's. I haven't found 1 game that will break it yet. (Shogun 2 was close though, lol)
If NVIDIA isn't going to work on 3D drivers for this game then my advise is to go to TriDef 3D and pay for it. I bought this software for $50 and it's been well worth it. It works with NVIDIA 3D. They're in-game 3D options are way better than NVIDIA's. Sometimes it even looks better, but other times the game runs faster on NVIDIA. Currently they are working on a working 3D driver for the game. By their next update, it should be done.
Hi guys,
It's been a while since I've posted here.
Yes, the game is almost done here. It's at about 90%. However, there are issues with inside envirenments (see: Opera) that we'd like to fix before we release this in full.
Thank you for your continued patience and support.

This is my biggest problem with nVidia right now, as a customer who bought a 3D Vision Kit (That I really didn't need ... DLP) just to be "able" to play games in 3D it's frustrating to say the least to see them doing so little with 3D Vision and TriDef doing so much. nVidia's update consists of updating the drivers to tell you AC3 doesn't work, whereas TriDef's update is actually making the game work ... really wish we could get that kind of support from nVidia ...

What sucks though with TriDef is that if the game isn't compatible with S3D drivers, you wont be able to take advantage of SLI. And if you're playing 3D games, you should definitely be running Crossfire or SLI to balance out the extra performance hit you take. I don't even think NVIDIA even supports S3D drivers anymore anyways, so we'll probably never see TriDef using SLI. So in order to run a playable AC3, you'll probably have to dish out a good $500-600 for a decent double GPU video card. My understanding is that a double GPU video card is still considered one video card and everything is hardware encoded, but I'm not positive.
I know I'll be waiting in line for one of those new Intel Haswell CPUs. I'll be building a new rig and the idea that the recent motherboards are SLI and Crossfire compatible is definitely a plus. I might seriously consider dropping NVIDIA all together and get one of those new glasses free 3D LG monitors that works with TriDef. I'm getting sick of NVIDIA new commitment to tablets.

@Bad213Boy
Know of any good links for setting up Tridef? I had a trial version but was unable to get anything working in 3D with their drivers. I found it to cumbersome with the options. I'd be willing to look into Tridef again if they are fixing games....

Nope, I have both a gtx 590 and gtx 295 both are using the same platform 2GPUs on one single PCB. IT still counts the GPUs as SLI. ;)) Its basically a SLI setup with some differences from a regular 2GPU , 2PCB setup.

TriDef certainly has come a long way since I first used their software and just gets better.
With their recent releaso of 5.6 on Dec 19th they inadvertantly borked a feature that they had no idea, anyone was using. It allowed certain dual projector 3D rigs to function via spanned desktops vs using the dual output support.
A few people complained in a thread that same day about it. That very same day a DDD team member responded saying.........."This does seem like quite a niche use case, however I agree that any changes we make to improve usability for some users should not come at the expense of other useful features."
He then promised to rectify it in a week or two with a Beta Release.
Sad thing is....Nvidia could care less about a niche function or advanced users.

I was on Playstation's website just seeing what games were 3D compatible when I noticed Assassin's Creed III is, I know it's not FULL 3D, but still. Then I google it for the 360, that's when I notice not only is the 360 supported but so is the Wii U ... and it's gamepad. If you're using magenta/green glasses you can get 3D on the Wii U's gamepad ... it's friggin' controller ... and yet we can't play it on the PC in 3D Vision!? I'm beginning to feel like I'm in The Twilight Zone [s]in 3D[/s].

I am sad that this does not work also. AC3 still sits mostly untouched while I wait.. and wait... and wait. Seems ive been waiting for games to work perfect since 3d vision launched like what... 3-4 years ago.
Side note, Path of Exile works so amazingly well. Lower depth and increase convergence. Why is it that a game with little money to develop, made by people who did for the love of gaming, no funds to put into these types of extras have a game which works better than most any game currently.

Your right assassins creed 3 does suck. the other titles worked so well in 3d and now this one is just retarded. The assassin creed games are like meant to be in 3d. Idk who decided they didnt want to bother with it.

Kind of an old thread by now but better to post here than to make a new one I think. Just wondering if anyone with Tridef can say if AC3 is playable yet?

With tridef it's playable but not without issues. Sometimes very slow fps and a few graphical issues remains. Copy/paste from the tridef forums:
Assassins creed III have some issues:
Find few issues with new beta and profile:
1. sun on the ship
2. moon on the ship
3. games on the ship 1 angle
4. games on the ship 2 angle
6. tags/marks problems (when u beggining game u have some practice, so u can find this easy)
7. some scene have strange issue when depth 100
7.1 same
Thanks. Worth buying Tridef for? I couldn't get 2 or Brotherhood to work with the Helix wrapper, the ambient occlusion blobs and issues with the sky didn't bother me too much.
