A lot of interest in looking for my old writings. I am ashamed. Anyway, that does not contradict my present view point. I prefer a monitor with g-sync support, as most people who like games I suppose do nowdays. And just because I also love to play some 3D games, I prefer to have 3D support in my monitor..., but as I said before 3D is not totally mandatory FOR ME, because maybe it is better to have an impresive good quality 2D monitor (if I had OLED tech I would not have any doubt about that) and leave 3D experiences to use my current 2233RZ (or even my pj). Anyway, this is not a fight. These are my impressions, and we are talking here to share ideas, maybe to change some of those impressions once I have more information.

Buy a 3D Vision 2 monitor. Lightboost is great, from my motion blur hating perspective. You have some options: - Asus PG278Q: the only 2560x1440 monitor compatible with 3D Vision 2. It also has real 8 bit colors, G-Sync and ULMB (85Hz, 100Hz and 120Hz). - The BenQ Z series monitors (XL2411Z, XL2420Z and XL2720Z, for example). They have motion blur reduction (very customizable) at any refresh rate, and also 3D Vision 2, obviously. The bad side is the overdrive artifacts (not in Lightboost mode). - BenQ XL2420G: basically the same as the BenQ XL2420Z, but with G-Sync too. But in my opinion it's too expensive for a 1080p monitor. The Asus PG278Q costs just a bit more. - Other Lightboost monitors that only have Lightboost as their blur reduction technique (between 100 and 120 Hz). The Asus VG248QE has very good Lightboost quality regarding ghosting and overdrive artifacts, but not good contrast. The VG278H has better image quality and contrast, and people say that somewhat worse ghosting. My monitor is the XL2411Z. If it weren't for that blur reduction mode at any refresh rate that I would miss, I would have bought a PG278Q now.

First I have to say that now I love to play mainly with two games, and are multiplayer games: "War of the Roses" and "Fifa 13". And of course also other games, but only to fill gaps. War of the Roses is not well supported in 3D (shadows and HUD things bad), and even being I would probably not play in 3D because the performance lost. Fifa 13 has a good support, but I do not like to play it in 3D due to the darkening produced by the glasses (maybe acceptable in other games but not in this one) and the bothering ghosting produced by the white lines. So what is the result?... the result is that my Nvidia glasses are always on the desk but I lately never touch. I have noticed some things these days playing only 2D: 1) Playing 3D is good for me only for some kind of games, like rol games or something like that. I never play a 1st person view game in 3D, and I hardly play a sport game in 3D. I can play in 3D multiplayer games, but usually I don't do it just because the performance lost. 2) These kind of games that I like to play in 3D need to be supported well, because otherwise you really don't enjoy the game properly, and that is something that lately is becoming more and more usual. 3) You need a powerfull machine to play 3D decently. But even in that case you will play smoother in 2D because it is not the same 60hz than 120hz. 4) Does it really worth to find out a tech improvement if it is only a promisse for most games?..., I mean..., if you don't realize that 3D exists, would you enjoy playing a 2D game in the same way that you enjoy playing a 3D game now? The result of all this is that I have clear that 3D is better than 2D, it is more immersive and you feel like you are there, but it is an utopia. And maybe chasing that utopia kills the reality. The real thing is that playing 3D has some hard drawbacks: - You have to wear the big glasses. - You need to have a very good hardware. Well, this is not a problem becuase if you like games you will have it anyway. - You will play games with less smooth than you could. You can't use more than 60hz/eye. - You have to deal with ghosting. - You depend totally on Nvidia driver support, and most games have problems. - You loose the illusion when playing 2D, so if all above fails you don't enjoy the game in the same way. This is a psychological fact. So maybe the most intelligent decission is to try to forget the 3D until it is not an utopia.
For whatever reason, you don't seem like you want to accept 3D Vision for what it is and you are very unhappy with it. and like I've said, this is your 3rd or 4th thread about getting a new display in the last year. For whatever reason you are interested on being a bit stupid, and place things out of context. I do not have to explain to you why or why not I think what I think today, yesterday, or tomorrow..., especially when you are demonstrating so low level of education and so bad taste. As I said before, I am not interested on fighting with whatever person hates me in this world..., specially when I can not see his face. If you are unhappy in this life, the best thing is not to intervene in the situation. I recommend you to not spend so much time playing games and focus a bit more on other good things that this life may offer to you. I do not know you, but everything points to that conclusion. PD for every normal people else: I just ordered the swift after chatting with a friend of mine who knows a lot more than me about all this stuff. Not thinking specially on 3D, even though the Swift is 3D monitor.

ASUS 24" VG248QE 1080P I would have brought this and forget about Gsync. (you could actually mod it if nvidia still have the kits but meh) You need great hardware for 3dvision so spend your money on that, then you won't need gsync anyway. Hell get three of them for the price of a swift and do surround, also it has display port so you don't have to worry about adapters or anything. But looks like you have made your decision based around 2d and the imo gimmicky Gsync because from all accounts the swift is pretty awful in 3d from what I hear.

He admittedly, somewhat hates the hassle that sometimes comes with playing in 3D. So I doubt that surround was ever a consideration. The Swift gives him higher resolution, increased screen size and G-sync, I think he'll be happy with it. Especially since he does a lot of 2D gaming.
Let us know if the swift is nice to play with in 3d.
It is, but it requires a LOT of GPU power to run 3D games at it's native res. Ideally you'd probably be looking at 2x GTX 980 TI in SLI. If you have the budget to blow on those kinds of cards, it's a great choice. Personally I don't, so I favour my 1080p Asus VG278HE (which I power with 2X GTX 970 in SLI). The swift had problems with SLI a while ago too, but I believe this is now resolved. I'm not 100% sure though, do your research (search for the old thread on these forums) if you plan to buy one.
