Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII
  2 / 3
I can not get the 3D to kick in at all on Play TV. I put in WoW profile. But I get no indication of it even trying to work. So far this has been the only game that has caused me this much trouble. I can usually get them to work with either 3D vision or Tridef. No luck with this one though. Played the other 2 no problem. Anybody have this working with Play TV?

Great news! DarkStarSword helped me to... no, DarkStarSword made a shadow fix for the game. So a version of the fix with enabled shadows is on the way :)

lol, now I'm regretting not purchasing these on sale, I figured this fix wouldn't be any time soon. I started to play the first game right after you released the fix for it and liked it. But I quit because I found out it was 1 of 3 parts, so I wanted to wait and play them all at once. The other Final Fantasy games never interested me because of the long combat sequences. But I might play them now that they have speed modes to fast forward those drawn out battles. Awesome work guys.

I saw this over on Durante's GeDoSaTo website. While playing Lightning Returns, I noticed extremely ugly artifacts/flickering/aliasing whenever DoF was used (particularly in cutscenes) – even at 4k. Turns out the game rendered DoF effects at 720p regardless of the selected rendering resolution. http://blog.metaclassofnil.com/?p=797 He has a fix for it, but I imagine that you turn it off? Anyhow, thought I'd mention it.

Thank You for the hint! DoF doesn't cause issues in S3D so it is turned on. I tried the GeDoSaTo fix but couldn't see a significant difference on my system. The reason could be that my resolution is far from 4k ;) I'm just doing some final tests and will try to finish the main story to check the most important sceneries for issues (of course with the help of a trainer ^^). Some minor issues will remain as the debug.dll has some limitations for this game. But generally the game should offer a good S3D experience now.

I have completed the game (main story, not the ultimate dungeon) and can offer now a better fix for the game. Installation: Download the zip file (https://s3.amazonaws.com/3d4dd/FFXIII-LR_3D-fix.zip) and extract it to the folder where LRFF13.exe is located ( e.g. C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\LIGHTNING RETURNS FINAL FANTASY XIII). Hints: If S3D doesn't activate for the game (it doesn't use real fullscreen mode): add LRFF13.exe to the profile for 3DHubplayer using Nvidia inspector. Run the game in "fullscreen" mode or otherwise Helixmod will not work. If animations and sound during dialogs are not synchronous and so the last word often is cut off use the speedhack function from Cheatengine to run the game with 0.95 speed. Hotkeys (change them by editing DX9Settings.ini and the key codes from http://www.asciitable.com/): '0' convergence preset for gameplay '9' convergence preset for cut sceens You can change the convergence and depth preset by pressing the hotkey of the fix and then the hotkey for saving Your 3D settings (Ctrl+F7). '8' toggle HUD depth (2D/pushed to character's depth) I have pushed the HUD to the charater's depth so that interaction elements and speech bubbles feel more comfortable. Unfortunately they are not at the same depth as the objects they mark. If You want to change the HUD depth edit the value 0.5 in
def c200, 0, 1, 0.0625, 0.5// 0.0625 prime directive reference value
for ShaderOverride\VertexShaders\2C87E466.txt.ps, 2DB107DF.txt.ps, 4E1D976F.txt.ps, 72B4CF56.txt.ps, 1D4D4B4E.txt.ps, D767BC1F.txt.ps '7' disbales/enables a shader that causes issues like fullscreen distortion effects for chaos, dirt screen, etc. It is especially necessary in the temple of Etro when Lightning gets a chaos wound that will just look like a hole without this fix. Don't forget to enable the shader again when the issue isn't present any more or otherwise You could miss some effects that are not broken. Generally this fix isn't as elaborated as my fix for the prequels. The main reason was the fact that the same shader is used for many different effects and fixing the shader for one effect would brake it for other effects. In the prequels I could use the texture CRCs to separate the effects but in FFXIII-LR this doesn't work. So I had to leave some minor effects and HUD-elements unfixed to prevent major issues. Many, many thanks to DarkStarSword who fixed the lighting system and so made the game playable! Entry on Helixmod Blog will follow soon :)

Thank You for Your feedback :) The fix is on Helixmod Blog now: http://helixmod.blogspot.de/2016/01/final-fantasy-xiii-lightning-returns.html I did a small change for the release version: The VS-PS-pair is not toggled on/off any more with only one hotkey ('7'). Instead of it '7' enables the shader and its effects and '6' disables it. This makes it easier to decide if it is currently enabled or disabled.

How do I run the game in "fullscreen", since the in-game menu does not offer any screen display options like windowed versus full-screen? Must I download and use 3DHubPlayer (I do not have this app)? Note that I am also using a LG 4K EDID mod override with Windows 10. Thanks for any advice. Update: Adding LRFF13.exe to 3DHubplayer works with Windows 8.1 and LG 4K EDID mod (so problem only appears under Windows 10)...
