Decided I'd review some 3d glasses I own since most reviews are made by movie watchers and exclude 3d vision glasses.Thought it would be a good idea to say this so people don't waste so much money on them for best image qualitity. I use an acer 5360(dlp 720 projector).
3D VISION TECHNOLOGY.
3D vision requires either version of 3d vision + emitter. Some projectors are "nvidia 3d vision capable". Which is 1280x720@60hz but allows use of glasses. Many displays either dlp tv or projector can be used with .inf hack to allow use of emitter + glasses. Enabling 3d on any display results in loss of brightness, keep this in mind when choosing projector/screen. CAN NOT BE USED ON NON-PC DEVICES.
3D VISION REGULAR EDITION
These glasses are the first I have tried and have owned. They are a real mixed bag. Own two pairs both have issues with crosstalk unless tilted in a certain direction, each to a different degree.(Nodding head down a little). The crosstalk is not high but is anoying when it should not exist at all with dlp. They have a good battery life of around 50 hours. Colors are a bit washy in one, and ok in the other.
3D VISION 2
Just recieved these today which prompted review. No crosstalk at all. Same battery life. Good colorization, very similar to 2d. "Bright technology" does not effect us since our displays are not compatible. The glasses are however very reflective. Will bounce back a bit of the screen you are viewing back at you. Definately my top pick.
3D VISION WIRED GLASSES
I skipped these but figured I'd mention many users(some dlp) Have complained about color issues. Do not recommend.

DLP LINK TECHNOLOGY
Only in dlp tvs/projector. Does not require emitter, just dlp compatible glasses. Results in a higher loss of brightness then 3d vision, please keep this in mind when choosing projectors/ screens. Requires either 3d vision or 3d tv play. CAN BE USED ON ALL DEVICES.
Ultra Clear DLP Heaven Glasses.
These were at one point much more popular due to price. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THEM. GREENISH TINT is very noticeable and has slight crosstalk. It is hard to battle this without changing your contrast ratios. Image qualitity is very washed out. Just dont buy them.
Optoma ZD101
These are the most popular dlp link glasses...for a reason. Image is as it should be, nice lenses, high build quality. However it is pretty dark in comparison to nvidia glasses. If you are to choose these please get a high lumen projector or a high gain screen. While its build qualitity is nice. They are very massive and are unfoldable but come with a very nice foam box for protective storage after each use. If you wear headphones they run a high chance of interferring/cause pressure of glasses onto skull. Non rechargeable, lasts 100 hours. Requires 2 watch batteries and a screwdriver for battery changes. My top pick for dlp link glasses and many agree as well http://www.amazon.com/Optoma-BG-ZD101-Glasses-Interchangeable-Pieces/dp/B003Q96CCC/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1328211221&sr=1-1

They work well except for some slight crosstalk around the edges, in peripheral vision. What crosstalk exists around bright light sources at the edges of the lenses disappears when in direct view. They're convenient glasses, as they're rechargeable through a USB port and include a built-in sync invert button. The glasses also seem to present a pretty bright image, at least when using a high gain screen with a short projector throw.
[by User:Eqzitara]True depth 3d Rechargeable DLP-Link
Did not like these glasses at all. Went to replace my optomas since they developed some crosstalk with bright contrasting to dark imagery. These glasses are simple/small and have invert button, I even had 0 crosstalk BUT. Its impossible to have these glasses lenses polarize together. You know when you tilt your head and one lense looks off compared to the other? This happens regardless of position in either one lense or both at same. Close one eye and then switch closed eyes and the image will look ENTIRELY different.
So far I'd rate 3d vision 2 glasses as my top pick. They are the most expensive though by around $40.00 bucks though. Optoma zd101 is a close second its image quality is very similar besides being a bit darker(which can be countered by bright projector/screen). It has some hassles, but nice build quality makes up for it. Can't go wrong with either.
Feel free to discuss any glasses not mentioned or different opinions of any glasses I have mentioned.

Cool, thanks for the reviews. I'd like to get a pair of the 3D Vision 2 glasses eventually if they have no crosstalk.
I'm using a pair of True Depth 3D Rechargeable DLP-Link glasses right now. Yeah just one thing to keep in mind about the 3d vision 2 glasses is it is VERY REFLECTIVE. Gonna update post. The screen you will be viewing will reflect a bit on the edges(not where you are viewing). I wear glasses so its no big deal for me and am used to that sort of thing. May bother some1 else though, could be fixed with tape but you will look ghetto.

Updated this old post to include True Depths. Did not enjoy them at all. Convient for a "family setting" but not good for high visuals expected of a 3d gamer.

I like my True Depth glasses, but they're the only ones I've really used and I'm probably used to them by now. I find that I need to use the invert button quite often, especially between different games or videos. Do you mean that when you tilt your head, the image kind of "warps"? I notice this a little bit, but just assumed it was a typical glasses thing. The image changes a bit, but doesn't really get ruined. Other glasses don't do that at all?

Nope. The warping is very unnatural. It might just be mine or that you are used to them. But regardless of head position image is warped in either lense a little bit. The warping deepens in one eye depending how much you adjust. Of the around 6 3d glasses I've owned these were probably worst.
Optoma zd101's do not warp regardless of headposition. They are big and bulky but they give good image qualitity (do not have invert button).

Nice topic. I'm guessing you don't have any RF glasses. I'm getting an optoma projector in may with a built-in rf emitter so I'll be going the rf route.
I'll probably just post a review of the rf glasses in this thread in a little over a week when I get my hands on 'em.

I actually really wanted RF's. Unfortunately they are not compatible with 3d vision/ my projector(acer h5360). Would like to here your opinion. I assume you are getting either the optoma/monstervision/bit cauldron(all the same just rebranded).

Optoma is probably way to go. Its same price as monstervisions though they come with an emitter. Optoma's I believe are packed in a nice foam inlay I believe. http://www.gamingnexus.com/images/Article/zwlhke3293/glasses.JPG
If you want cheaper can buy monstervision and sell emitter on ebay. People buy the glasses not knowing they need an emitter so they resell pretty well.

I wonder if the Monster Vision 3D Max glasses are being phased out or if they are going to come out with a new version, since the prices have dropped so much. The emitter with glasses is $99 now. Has anyone been able to sync the emitter with Nvidias? http://www.monsterproducts.com/productdisplay.asp?pin=5938&id=9132
HDFury is supposedly releasing 3D Glasses that are better than the Monster Vision glasses. They have stated that they are not going to be rebadged Bit Cauldron glasses. Signal Invert, Delay and Duty Cycle controls will be on the glasses themselves and will also have loaded presets. You can see the specs at http://3dfury.com/?page_id=30 (not yet released, but soon?)
Have a look at their 3D Fury, it's quite interesting, although a lil pricey, but hey it's a niche product. The enticing feature to me is the vesa sync port, my PJ does not have one and it would be nice to use RF glasses.
An interesting read, in regards to sync protocols for 3D emiiters and glasses, can be found at http://cmst.curtin.edu.au/local/docs/pubs/2011-17-woods-helliwell-3D-Sync-IR.pdf

I bought 2 pairs of Optoma BG-ZD301 for my BenQ W1080ST:
+ Extremely light and comfortable
+ USB chargeable (cable included)
+ Good Picture quality/no noticable tint or brightness issues
+ Included accessories: interchangeable nose piece, carry bag and microfiber cloth.
- Crosstalk seen at the edges of the lenses (I game 9 feet away from a 110", so it might not be a problem if you're further away from screen)
- Not cheap
This thread is a little old. Would be nice to add current recommendations, especially for evenly ghost-free lenses... ghosting at the edges is a bit distracting. Any suggestions?

I got 3 pairs of cheap DLP glasses the other week, and whilst the occasionally lose sync in movies for a second or 2 on excessively bright scenes, they are perfect in gaming.
http://www.amazon.co.uk/SainSonic-reg-Rechargeable-DLP-Link-Projector/dp/B006CHD67O/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1393160524&sr=8-3&keywords=3d+dlp+glasses
The nose bridge feels a bit tight after a few hours, but other than that they are very comfortable. 2.5 hours to charge and I think after 20-30 hours the first pair are still going strong.
I only get ghosting if I turn my head away from the screen.
There seems to be a very slight yellow tint, but overall they are as good as the £60 Acer pair I received with the projector and roughly a 3rd of the price.
They are USB rechargeable and come with a USB cable, carry bag and cleaning cloth - no interchangeable nose pieces though.

Indeed - not all DLP link glasses are created equal. Some brands have multiple models with some being good and others not so much. Additionally some projectors (like the Benq 1070/1080ST) require glasses made for 144Hz and RED sync.
There is a fairly GIANT thread over at the avsforums specifically for the Bq1070/1080. Our 3D loving "home theater" brother's seem to be much less demanding and more forgiving than some stereoscopic gamers. (or at least much less than I'am)
- Their content is 24FPS 720/1080P movie/films which don't push the switching speed of the glasses
- The movies/films generally have much much less 3D effect so ghosting is not an issue
- Ghosting in a fairly rare high contrast image is easily shrugged off
- The viewing distance+angle is not as close+high as a S3D gamer might be using
- Cost easily outweighs useability as they are buying to outfit more people
It rather amazes me how OEM's keep getting the basics wrong. I consider a pair of DLP 3D glasses a failure when:
- If I ever see a red tint on black or white areas on the screen while looking through the glasses
- If I ever see any ghosting
Skyrim's loading screens and Tomb Raiders menu's and benchmark test are what I use to check my glasses. There is a few cool "cross talk" .JPG's people have made that can provide a more detailed measure over the basic "Pass" or "Fail". (I'll attach the one I liked if I can find it again)

TBH, I've had one complaint or another on all dlp link glasses. I been using 3D vision 2's and been happy ever since. Only time I see crosstalk is Purest of black with purest of whites. Its so rare and in between that the only types of games where I even notice it a "little bit" is in horror/"gothic" game.
If you think about it, it makes sense that 3d vision 2's are the best [at least to me]. They are meant to be good for LCD monitors but being used on a dlp projector which already have little ghosting.
I think you can use an edid override of an acer h5360 and use 3D vision emitter/glasses but don't quote me on that. Need to do the checking.
It is VERY hard to find good feedback on dlp glasses since most people are using them for home theatres and there is a HUGE difference between good for movies/ good for gaming.

The monster 3d glasses you need a compatible projector for it. They are MANY rebranded versions of it and they are all same [optoma/something else]. I havent tried it though. The "monster" version is a lot cheaper and same product.

I'm using a pair of True Depth 3D Rechargeable DLP-Link glasses right now. Updated this old post to include True Depths. Did not enjoy them at all. Convient for a "family setting" but not good for high visuals expected of a 3d gamer.

Optoma zd101's do not warp regardless of headposition. They are big and bulky but they give good image qualitity (do not have invert button).

Yeah, am getting the Optoma just since I'm getting an Optoma projector. Just feels right. :P

If you want cheaper can buy monstervision and sell emitter on ebay. People buy the glasses not knowing they need an emitter so they resell pretty well.

The nose bridge feels a bit tight after a few hours, but other than that they are very comfortable. 2.5 hours to charge and I think after 20-30 hours the first pair are still going strong.
I only get ghosting if I turn my head away from the screen.
There seems to be a very slight yellow tint, but overall they are as good as the £60 Acer pair I received with the projector and roughly a 3rd of the price.
They are USB rechargeable and come with a USB cable, carry bag and cleaning cloth - no interchangeable nose pieces though.
