Would it be possible to use Nvidia 3D Vision with ATI Radeon fine graphics cards? There is this new feturefull Radeon HD 5870 and Nvidia does not have anything to offerision now.
The problem is that finally there are good compatible games, but RE5 (benchmark) does not use or scale with multiple gpus.
Would it be possible to use Radeon as main and Geforce as PhysX card?
PS:
My ideal setup would be now ATI HD 5870 + Geforce 9800GTX running 3D Vision and using PhysX in games.

Nope as its an nvidia driver desigend to use an nivdia card. The base technique is not hard to do as I understand it so theres no reason why ati couldnt develop their own, or the base technique written into directx, or the games at some point

Nope but IZ3D is another company that makes 3D glasses..and as of late, with MUCH better support that can be used on any graphic card. Nice alternative for Ati users. Check it out before this post gets deleted for suggesting them.

It is a pitty because I have GTX295, which is old obsolete card now and I would like to replace it with fine Ati Radeon HD 5870. But this upgrade path is not possible.
I do not want to use iz3d anaglyph or similar ugly stuff, I want shuttered stereo and just replace fosils in my PC with new shiny stuff.

I wouldn't say the iz3d driver is better/worse than the nvidia one. On some games iZ3D beats nvidia, on others nvidia beats iZ3D.
But the iZ3D driver has a huge advantage : it works independantly on both ATi and nvidia, and it supports many different 3D solutions, but it doesn't support the nvidia glasses.
There's also the new DDD Tridef ignition driver which looks extremely promising : also compatible with both brands but does not support the nvidia glasses either.
So if you buy the nvidia glasses, you're stuck on an nvidia graphics card.

About using an nvidia graphics card to run physix while gaming on an ATi card, it is technically possible : i've read reports that some people managed to do it but nvidia locked it up in recent drivers.

GTX 295 old obsolete card??? WTF??? Are you insane man or just want to have the best system possible on earth. You might get competition from Micheal Dell, Bill Gates and Steve Jobs, I think they might have a more powerfull and expensive PC than yours.
Seriously dude, I have two GTX 280 and I can play any game in 3D with full settings. Crysis doesn't count, but it sucks in 3D anyway. You are good to go with a GTX 295, please don't say old and obsolete, it 's not a seven series Geforce that is not supported by S3D.
What difference it makes if ATI launched a faster card than GTX 295 if they still haven't developed their 3D system?? The 2D world is past behind us. How good is a faster card if you can only play in 2D???

Since it is not possible to use 3D Vision and PhysX software with Radeon because Nvidia treated this antigenic situation in drivers I will not sell it now.
And I will sell it only within my country because postal charge is very high here (I am selling old stuff only personally).
Besides, there is massive fps increase with 191 drivers, they must be on steroids or something like that, so it is good now.

sorry for reviving an old topic but i didnt know if reasking the question at a later date would merit a new post. does it still stand that the nvidia 3d vision headset with 3d monitor wont work with an ati gpu(7870)
