3D on HDMI TV - Not working. Don't understand Nvidia 3D it, like at all. :-)
2 / 3
Before upgrading from my ATI graphics card to my GTX 670 I was able to play 3D movies over hdmi using powerDVD and no additional software. I was disappointed to find that after spending a large sum on a better nvidia card I could not do this anymore unless I paid nvidia an extra $40.
I do not see 3DTV as purchasing new software. I see it as paying to unlock a feature on a piece of hardware I already paid for. I could understand charging for all the game integration of 3D vision. But in regards to 3D movie playback over HDMI, I believe nvidia is adding nothing but rather is blocking unless you pay.
P.S. I now see I have to option to pay for "Extended download service" which I translate as the right to download and use 3DTV for the next 2 years, after I pay for 3DTV. Not cool nvidia.

yeah.. I don't need 3dtv play to watch 3d movies on my 3dtv. If the movie is SBS,OU,or whatever, the TV recognizes it. You only need 3dtv play to play games in 3d. I'm with everyone else, buy a second hand emitter to enable 3dtv play. I have two emitters i can hook to any pc at any time. But then.. I'm just nuts for 3d content. :0)

Hi 3D users i hope you can help here.
So iv'e just upgraded to a GTX970 thinking woot 3D gaming but tried to get it to work and nothing, so after a quick google i found this and this guy explains perfectly what my problem is, but only one difference i do have 3DTV Play installed as i knew about it before hand so im at a loss why it's not working, like he says my TV acts like it's in 3D but the games are not 3D and when i enable 3D the Depth slider is still greyed out Screenshot Here, i ran the wizzard no problem and it saw my 3DTV and the Medical Image Test looks awesome, also if you look at the screenshot it still says "Get Nvidia 3DTV Play" dose that stay there even if you do have it? If you look here it say's it's installed. One thing i noticed is after i installed 3DTV Play an option under Set up stereoscopic 3D in the control panel disappeared cant remember the name but it let you look at ratings for 3D games, Fiar, Good, Poor ect. is that normal to disappear? You can see it's gone in the screenshot.
Make sure you unlock advanced controls in nvidia so that you can change 'convergence' to get the best pop-out and 3D effects.
I looked everywhere for advanced controls but nah mission impossible even google did not help, so if someone can hepl on that it would be appreciated.
Hope someone knows whats going on probably something simple im overlooking but so far i cant think what.
Thanx in advance.
Other things i thought of im using the latest driver and yes i run the games in 720p 60HZ.

Unfortunately Nvidia 3DTV PLay only supports TVs.
I think Nvidia blacklisted HDMI 1.4 displays under a certain size.
Google Make Your Passive 3D Monitor 3D Vision Blog
Hi,
your display is passiv 3D.
You can use it in 3D Vision Zalman mode.
all you have to do is a simple EDID Override.
Install this inf: http://3dvision-blog.com/forum/download/file.php?id=108&sid=677bb65d653cac1998fc93436dd64568 for your display.
After this you can select Zalman under the 3D Settings in nVidia driver.
Great temporary work-around, but I hope wing0zero contacts NVIDIA Customer Care, describes the problem and EDID mod required, and requests an update to the almost 5 year-old 3DTV Play! No such mod exists for my LG UHD TV (UB9500)...
This type of mod support should not be required for a well supported consumer product. 3DTV Play's HDMI support should be similar to AMD's HD3D plug and play HDMI interface (AMD GPU with TriDef's Ignition). Hard to believe GTX980 and 3DTV Play are made by the same company.
See https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/809649/3d-vision/please-add-hdmi-2-0-support-to-3dtv-play-/post/4474215/#4474215 for more information.

Hi thanx for this but alas it does not work, well not very well, i tried 4 games GRID Autosport, USFIV, Half Life 2 and Kingdoms of Amalur, thing is the games blured like they were in 3D and all the Nvida stuff say's it's running and the shortcut keys work ect. but when i put the specs on it's not 3D it's still just blured but with extra lines through because of the specs, the screen dose not enter any of it's 3D modes also is that normal? While in game i tried the Side by Side and Top and Bottom modes but they just make it look crazy.
But GRID Autosport did look 3D when i put the specs on, there was something off about it and it was a strain on the eyes but it worked, still as before the screen never went into any 3D mode so how it worked i dont know. Only thing i can think of it's the only DX11 game i tried, is DX11 better for 3D?
Fingers crossed there is an easy fix for this too.

I figured it out, i had to run the setup wizzard again and hey presto all is well, one thing my friend on his TV he has to play at 720p to get his 60fps but the games dont fill the screen on mine they just take up the amount used 720p so i set it to 1080p and it filled the screen and i still get 60fps, now not complaning just wondering how come, at a guess it's because im tricking it into thinking it's a fully supported screen?
And yeah i have to wear the specs upside down also, it does work the other way but plays havock with your eyes and mind.
Thanx again all now playing in full 3D!!
*edit anyone know of a way to flip the way it works so i can put my specs on the right way?
