Buy a Samsung 3D Ready TV and play with 3D Vision Forget about 3DTV Play!!! Rollermod ru

Roller, I really need your help on creating a inf file for me.

I've just realized this yesterday when I was trying to use PowerDVD 10 Mark II to watch a bluray3D. I wasn't able to apply Dolby Digital or DTS 5.1 sound on PDVD10 audio options. I was only able to get stereo sound out of my speakers, not Dolby or DTS 5.1 just regular PCM stereo audio. If I go to audio options in PDVD10 menu I can only select PCM uncompressed, not Dolby or DTS Digital compressed sound like I could before using rollermod. I cound't understand why, until I realized that I'm not using the original inf file for my HT-380 Onkyo 5.1 receiver, as the Nvidia Control Panel now sees my receiver as a Samsung Tv that doesn't have Dolby or DTS, just regular stereo sound. Off course, how did I forget about this!!!! This is not a problem for games, since most of them don't have digital 5.1 sound, and I can use the Dolby Prologic 5.1 that it's good enough for games.

But for movies, having direct Dolby or DTS digital sound is crucial. So, I need to have my HT-380 original inf file again, it's the only way I can use PDVD10 or Total Media 3 to watch my bluray3D ISOs with Dolby or DTS 5.1 digital sound.

I've even tried to use your replacemod inf to go back to 3DTV Play, but it didn't matter since Nvidia Control Panel still sees a Samsung TV, it's not about HDMI 1.4 or HDMI 1.3, cause the only way to get Dolby or DTS sound again is recovering the original inf file for my HT-380 Onkyo receiver.

Fortunately, I've created a restore point like you advised me, to go back to the original state of my PC before applying rollermod. So, I would have the original HT-380 inf file installed again and therefore Dolby and DTS 5.1 digital sound for all my bluray3D movies. I have a big collection, this is very important for me.

I will restore my PC to this point before using rollermod inf. I hope it works without any issue, but I don't know how to extract the inf file for my HT-380 receiver??? can you help me out on that? I want to continue using your rollermod which is very suitable for 3D gaming, but not bluray3D since I need the Onkyo receiver to enable 5.1 surround for PDVD10.
Then I would have two inf files, rollermod and HT-380replacemod, so I can go back to 3DTV Play + 5.1 sound for bluray3D or use rollermod for 3D gaming in CB and FS modes. Your replacemod inf is not suitable for me, cause I have a receiver HT-380 connected to my PC, not the Samsung Plasma 3D TV. The TV is connected to the receiver which is connected to the PC. Let's say the Onkyo receiver is the hub for all my equipments.

BTW, I also found out that I need 3DTV Play for bluray3D, FS mode is not suitable cause it only works in PC mode, and this mode is horrible for bluray3D and 3D videos. It may look good for CB and FS 3D gaming using High Dynamic contrast and low for HDMI black levels for picture options, but it doesn't do any good for videos. The image looks washed out and the blacks look grey, doesn't compare to video mode. If I change to 3DTV Play and play any bluray3D in FP 1080p24hz, it looks amazing, blacks are very deep and image color saturation is really good and suitable for videos.
I guess I'll still need 3DTV Play for bluray3D playback, but for 3D gaming, I'll for sure only use CB and FS, I'm done with FP for gaming.

It makes sence, If using PC you must use PC mode and if watching videos you should use video mode. For TV broadcast, cable and Samsung C6900 bluray player, video mode is mandatory, even if you have selected DVI/PC for source, it will be in video mode always, though PC mode only works for PC. It's not like video mode that works for any TV's source, like it does for PC mode as well.

I'm couting on your knowledge to help me out extracting the inf file for my HT-380 receiver. I really need to have this file. I'll restore my PC and let you know if the HT-380 recognition by the NCP is back.

Hello guys,

New here and great thread. I have the Asus G73SW-3DE laptop with built in 3D emitter on a GTX460M card.

I recently bought a Samsung UE40D6530 LED backlit LCD TV (hate calling them LED TV's they're technically not!). Now I have 2 issues/questions:

1) I initially tried to see if I have 3DTV Play already installed (on latest 280.26 drivers) but it seems they're not as should be for free being a 3D laptop. I only see 3D Vision ready logo on nVidia panel and not 3DTV Play, so what am I doing wrong and how do I remedy this?

2) I'm quite keen on Rollermod as obv I'd like FHD 1080p gaming and not 720p. My TV is the 6530 series and not 6500/6510 (different models) so would it support chequerboard or where can I ascertain this from?

Please do let me know and guide me ASAP.

Cheers

Thanks for the endorsement. :) Since nvidia's website implies that samsung TVs cannot do native rez/full framerate CB mode (3D Vision), it is indeed important to explain that this is false misleading info. We will never get a sticky so best we can do is bump it. By doing so, we will prevent the unaware noonbie from buying the wrong TV based on Nvidia's misleading requirements page.

I can't wait to try this. I just signed up to bump it and ask; Is there any word when Nvidia will be implementing this in their software?

checkerboard has been part of 3d vision since it came out- on mits DLP's. just run the hack and 3d vision in the meantime- and maybe someday you will see checkerboard on 3dtvplay. hopefully before we have real 1080p60 displays so no one will care about half resolution formats.

System:

Intel I7 920 overclocked to 4ghz

Asus Rampage Extreme II

2 Ge-force 480 in SLI

GTX 295 PhysX Card

12gb ddr3 2000mhz ram

Intel SSD in RAID 0

1000w Sony surround sound

NVIDIA 3D Vision

3d displays tested:

Mitsubishi 65" DLP 3d HDTV (good old 1080p checkerboard since 2007!!!)

Panasonic VT25 (nice 2d but I returned it due to cross talk)

Acer H5360 720p on 130" screen (the best 3d)

23" Acer LCD monitor (horrible cross talk- sold it)

I am going to do that. I went to the HDMI1.4 checkerboard for all! 3D Vision software fix here thread, and there was not attached file. Do you know where I can get the mod? Is it just an inf file?

Thanks

I'm a complete noobie as far as TVs go. I've not actually owned one in the last 12 years! As you can imagine, I don't really know where to start in terms of TVs. Currently I have a 24" samsung monitor, but I want to jump to a 32". Having done some research, I've found that new LED TVs have 3d. I was wondering if anyone would be able to reccomend me a TV? Basically, it's going to be used primarily as a computer monitor for gaming (and other stuff). I've never really given 3d much of a thought, but it would be nice to know I have the option there! Any suggestions?

I was looking at the Samsung UE32D6530 as a possible contender.

Any help would be MASSIVELY appreciated! /thanks.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':thanks:' />
