GTX 680 with 3D Vision in Battlefield 3 Does anyone have benchmarks available?
  1 / 2
I want to know if switching from two GTX 580's to two GTX 680's will increase my 3D performance in BF3. Currently, I only get 40FPS in 3D with Battlefield 3 on Ultra 1080P settings. I'm looking to get the 60FPS cap for 3D Vision in this game.

BF3 engine is messed up

Even if you have 10 680s you would still be capped at 40

They need to fix the engine first.

I have a 590 even in LOW i am stuck with 40 fps on many scenarios when i am outside.

Go figure.

Yup, Frostbite 2 engine is messed up. Will NOT be buying any more of their games until this is confirmed fix. What a joke.

I'm sure you guys will discredit this but I have no reason to lie. I took this picture this morning before work in a rush. This is my FPS with 2x680's max settings BF3 with 3D Vision enabled.

Go to an outdoors multiplayer map and try again. There are some areas where you can get 60, but the majority of the game (multiplayer) is capped at 40.

LOL. I swore off buying BF games completely. I haven't been able to run bfbc2 for the past year. It just crashes no matter what I do, and it's the only game I have that does that on my pc. And I paid full price for that game. Now, after reading the numerous posts here and on other forums about frostbite 2... I'm so glad I didn't. **** em.

Please post your minimum, maximum, and average FPS in 3D/Ultra settings on maps like Firestorm, Caspian Border, Kharg Island... big outdoor maps. I would like to know to decide on upgrading or not.

Surely if he's getting over 60 then there is no cap? To be fair I haven't played it much since I bought it!
If you drop the resolution, do you still get a max of 40fps? That would suggest a cap.

Tom's Hardware has benchmarked the 680 as single and SLI modes. They have benchmark results for BF3. The game is capable of way more than 60fps, but they aren't testing it in stereo 3D, so who knows.

I get about 50 to 60 fps per eye when playing in 3D multiplayer under low or medium settings at 1080. Not too sure why many ppl are trying to play on ultra at in multi.. I suggest saving ultra for a single player play through. See signature for video cards

The game is NOT capped at 40 all the time

I also DO get 60 at times, especially in singleplayer

HOWEVER

some outdoor maps in multiplayer have issues and the game is locked at 40 fps than.

The engine DOES have problems.

I do get 60 fps at times as well even at HIGH settings with my 590 but when i am outside in singeplayer, there is lots of action or there is just a giant horizon and depth, than the game is locked at 40 fps.

gpu usage is about 90 % on the above photo, which means there is barely any headroom left, so it will drop straight to 40 fps at some point (because of double buffering per eye).
that also means that the game is gpu limited, even with sli.

So even with a third GTX 680, only 40 fps would be the max?
