My Acer GD245HQ review experiences of a new 3D vision user
  15 / 16
reading this review makes me nervous :)

I have just sold my ATI HD5850 since need to move to 3D so today was going to buy a Gainward GTS450 and tomorrow was going to buy this monitor (the only one available where I live).....

is it that bad ? Was gong to order as well the 3d Vision glasses since my main aim is for 3D games like black ops and MW2 and to watch in great quality 3D movies.....

shall I stop from buying everything ?

My only other option is to go for a projector but price will go very much up to buy a decent 3D projector :S

Please let me know since I dont have much time and tomorrow need to deceide on this monitor

It depends a lot on what you're expecting.
There is some ghosting, it's a TN panel, and the back light is relatively uneven.
I own 3 of them and a view sonic 3d monitor, there isn't much to choose between them and for me the trade offs are worthwhile.

If you're expecting perfection no 3d panel delivers that, it's an adequate 2d LCD, my none TN 24 inch monitors are better but I'd rather have 3d so I live with the compromise.

Thanks....I am even now considering the acer H5360 projector but since its a low budget it might loose quality due to the large projection picture when compared to a smaller (more compressed) and with more contrast ratio and brightness Acer monitor...so which is best to buy ?The Acer monitor I can get it today or tomorrow but the acer projection need to order it from ebay since not available in Malta.

Moreover I need to be impressed with 3D quality and not 2D since mainly am buying for 3D

I can't make the call for you, only you can decide if the current crop of LCD monitors are worth the trade offs, clearly since I own 4 I think they are.

Generally DLP is better suited to producing time sequenced images than LCD.
But I'm not sure how you can directly compare a $300 1920x1080 23.6 inch monitor to a $600 1280x720 projector, if you have the space for a projector, you can control the light adequately, then go for it. It will have less ghosting.
Personally I don't like playing games in the dark and my Home Theater room is set up to watch movies not play games. having said that if HDMI 1.4 projectors were available at a reasonable price I'd be tempted.

Just about everything is better about DLP pj's (colors, brightness, greyscale artifacts) , even 720p is a cool trade-off for twice the perfomance, and you barely feel the need for higher , personally I dont want higher res , but powerLEDs instead of bulb.

Its a shame theres no website yet dedicated to 3d DLP, with screen ideas, rear projection stuff etc.

I'm sending mine back. It's unacceptable for gaming. It has horrendous vertical banding across the entire screen. (Strip like pattern) My previous Benq LCD was never like this, so there is obviously something wrong with it. I've uploaded a video to mediafire which clealry shows the problem. Check it out. Would you put up with this while gaming? I just hope they take it back for a replacement.

Hi godwisper
I don't have 3d vision, so I don't know what settings are best. Best way to find out is to experiment.

Here's a good link for 3d vision settings, but I can't try them out as I don't have it.

For gaming, if you can't set 120mhz refresh rate in the games settings, try looking for the games .ini file and manually edit the settings instead. I had to do this for UT & UT2004.

Looks bad. Is vsync off? Turn on vsync. set display to 1920x1080 120Hz. Which game is that and which videocard do you have? Try other games too.
