Problem: 3D Vision + GTS 360M + Optoma GT720 no 3d
Couple days ago i bought an Optoma GT720 3d ready projector at the Bestbuy and also i bough 3D Vision kit from Amazon. I have Asus g51jx laptop (with 1080p non 3d display - some of those have 720p 3d display and comes with nvidia 3d vision kit).
I check compatibility on nvidia web site and all my stuff should support 3d vision - the graphic card nVidia GTS 360M does support 3d vision, aslo Optoma GT720 projector does support 3d vision too.
After i connect everything with hdmi cable (i already check 1.3 and 1.4 hdmi cables, but same result), i run my projector in 3d mode (there is only two different way in projector options - DLP-link and IR (i dont know what is ir mean, but i think this for nvidia 3d vision)), and when i'm running 3d stereoscopic wizard i get error - none of compatible displays found. I read many information in the web, but i didn't find anything helpful for me. I tried to install many different versions of the nVidia drivers, tried many drivers for Monitor (from different projectors like acer) but i always get the same message.
And also my projector support 120hz only in 720p mode (1280x720) , but when i start 3d vision wizard computer automaticly reset resolution notive 1280x800 with 60hz, because my projector doesn't support 120hz in this mode. I found in internet modified inf file for projector and after installation i managed to run 3d vision wizar in 720p 120hz resolution, but i still get the same meassge that 3d vision didn't find any compatible displays.
I spend over 1000 dollars for that 3d set and now i can't run it!

Go back to the 129 3d vision drivers and use the Acer .inf hack.
Use only the Nvidia transmitter and set the projector to 3d mode.
Hopefully that will work for you.

It does work for me! Thank you very much!
But i sill don't understand why nVidia still not make support of my projector as they said onto website? That's kind of weird. I just imagine hundreds of people who bought the same projectors for 3d and was disappointed later. Even i spent like extra 100 dollars for stuff like dvi-to-vga, vga-to-svideo adapters, few different hdmi cables and everything wasn't really work for me. Hope nVidia gonna fix that problem in the new driver.
I attached the inf file from acer projectors if someone gonna have same problem.

Yea....I agree on all that.
I have an HD66 Optoma which I really really like for 3d gaming. It is a very good projector for 3d.... works fantastic.
I bought it for the sole purpose of sim racing in 3d.
I had done a bit of research before I bought it so I suspected going in that I would need the ACER hack.
Turned out I did. I works just fine but it is frustrating to know it requires that.
I called Optoma and got very little help (none really). I also called nvidia and was told it was Optoma's
problem.
So there ya go....so much for cutomer service. It worked because of such a great gaming community and forums that
inform and offer up work arounds for problems like these.
Ive been reluctant to update the 3d Vision drivers from (129) for fear it might not work.
If you go beyond that please let me know the outcome.

Yesterday everything worked fine, but when i run my projector in 3d today i get weird message: attempt to run in non stereo 3d mode. I reinstalled the drivers, check projector settings (tried all DLP-Link synced, DLP-Link unsynced, IR), check the resolution (it still the same 1280x720p 120hz), but still get same message. I dont known really what is wong.
And now projector work only when i connect them directly to my laptop. If i'm trying to connect them thru my yamaha rx-v367 amp it just doestn't work - resolution just resetting on laptop and no image on projector. I tried to use different ways but still the same. Now i have no 3d again, amplifier doesnt work (last firmware on them, fully support 3d), everything messed up. i even can't see the normnal movie now. I tried to clean monitor drivers but everything doesn't work. After driver re-installation and registry cleaning when i hooked up projector it still remember last station! I can't reset resolution on them manually too! Hate nVidia drivers, i think it was my mistake to buy optoma except acer, and nvidia got most stupid drivers at all. I think only windows reinstallation gonna help me out, but that is not gonna happen to me.

You could try this, switch the resolution (in game) to something else, anything else, save it then switch it back to the proper resolution agian and save. I have this happen once in a while also on my sammy 2233. Works everytime

Here is the thing - i don't play any games, so when i changing resolution in Windows - projector just doesn't work properly - i just see black screen and i can't do anything. Probably i just need to clean windows from the projector drivers (cauz widows keep all settings of last projector state) and then i should run over again. But i just cant clean windows, i don't know where it keep all settings for the monitor state.

Hmm. You try this on a laptop with a non-3D-Display, right?
Maybe you forgot to set your Projector as the primary display in the nvidia-control-panel? You can try to set it as your only display so the laptop-panel is getting disabled.
But maybe you allready tried this /wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' /> .
And don't be confused about 1280x720@120Hz. It is the biggest resolution@120Hz that can be delivered over HDMI. 1920x1080@120Hz is not possible over HDMI.

I can't run both display's together, when i run them together i see how windows trying to change resolution on the projector and laptops panel works just for few seconds, projector doesn't and that happening while i unplug hdmi canle. But after i plug them again i have like about 1-2 seconds to go to the resolution setttings to choose duplicate displays. If i cant to it fast i need to start over again - unplag hdmi and after pklug it again go fast to settings. It looks like projector doesn't support screen refresh rate and it just rebooting. And i can't reset them because windows after connection trying to turn the same resolution and refresh rate from last session and i just can't change it. nvidia drivers reinstallation doest't work for me as well as remove projector from device manager. Need to figure out where windows keep all settings for graphic system and clean there.

Ok. Here is another thing. Now i disconnected all wires from the laptop (no hdmi, no anything). I restart the system. After i went to screen settings and the laptop panel's here calls Acer!Ok, I went to the advanced settings, install different driver for panel (i found one 1980x1080p compatibly system driver and intall it for the generic pnp monitor). After i restart the system and in screen resolution it still Acer panel. WHY??? I have removed all drivers again, remove laptop's monitor from device manager, intall everything clean and i still have there ACEL panel.. How is that possible? why windows or nvidia detect my laptops panel as Acer projector? I didn't intstall drivers for it.
I spend like 5 hours today just to watch the movie in 3d and i still et nothing! That is incredible.

Sounds really strange. What resolution is set on laptop-screen when you try to connect? My Dell M1730 had a strange standard refresh rate of 59Hz. Maybe that could be the problem what your projector doesn't like. Maybe your modded inf has wrong information about supported refresh-rates? Did you try to set a projector-supported resolution on your Laptop before connecting the projector? 1280x800@60Hz(native for your projector) or 1280x720@60Hz for example?
If you want to do a clean gpu-driver installation, you have to boot your windows in Safe-Mode. Then deinstall the drivers and do a cleanup with a prog like DriverSweeper. Then restart windows and install the new driver.
Good luck.
EDIT: Sounds like your Acer-Inf-hack is still active. Try to set the Generic-Display again. Then go to Device-Manager and search in the menu for a option "show hidden devices" and activate it(Could be spelled in other words as I have a german windows). Then look in the list for the Acer-Display and if you find it, delete it.

That is something i just can't explain. Now i tried one more time and 3d vison works again! However it works only when i connect hdmi right to laptop. When i'm trying to connect them via amplifier (is support 120hz and 3d) it doesnt work at all! I can run only 1920x1080 with 60hz on projector, any other resolution it just doesn't work. It seem like projectors trying to run with 30hz only and it doesn't support, and for me it is really hard to reset them back to 1080p to work them.
Now i have only one option like when i just watching movies i connect them tru hdmi to amplifier and get nice picture with 5.1 sound. But when i want to get 3d, need to connect hdmi right to the pc and for 5.1 i use toslink optical cable to amplifier. I dont like that method because i dont realli like realtek soundcard, but i just dont have any other option.
Still got the Acer except Pnp monitor into devices for my laptop panel, can't remove it.
Thanks everyone who tried help me.
I just dont understand why we paying thousands dollars for all equipment and they doesn't work as suppose to? -that question to nVidia representative, when you guys will make work drivers???

Hmm, so the main problem is your amplifier I guess. I don't think that the Nvidia-driver has an influence on sound-receivers.
3D-Vision through amps is problematic when I remember the threads here in the forum.
Maybe your amp only supports this crazy BluRay3D-resolution(1920x1080@24Hzx2 - 24Hzx2 cause 24 stereo-image-pairs are sent per second).

Here is some news what i did in last two days.
First of all i did remove all monitors. I found small FAQ how to show hidden devices:
To work around this behavior and display devices when you click Show hidden devices:
Click Start, point to All Programs, point to Accessories, and then click Command Prompt.
At a command prompt, type the following command , and then press ENTER:
set devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices=1
Type the following command a command prompt, and then press ENTER:
start devmgmt.msc
Troubleshoot the devices and drivers in Device Manager.
NOTE: Click Show hidden devices on the View menu in Device Managers before you can see devices that are not connected to the computer.
When you finish troubleshooting, close Device Manager.
Type exit at the command prompt.
Note that when you close the command prompt window, Window clears the devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices=1 variable that you set in step 2 and prevents ghosted devices from being displayed when you click Show hidden devices.
After that i deleted clearly all monitors from the system (al entryes in the system registry was deleted).
BUT! when i connected projector again to my laptop WINDOWS remember all position of screen resolution even if device was detected as new (i also installed hacked inf file again, because windows detect projector as Optoma).
When i connect projector them right to the laptop it works fine, i can change resolution and do whatever i want.
But when i connect all thru the amplifier ii still can't be detected. I made small video how it works. It's kind of blurry, but you gonna be able to see how windows trying to denect projector and it doesn't detected. It seems like its trying to run projector (not amplifier) in unsupported resolution. Also you can see how amplifier detect signal from pc - first it's detected as DVI and after a second it detect as 1080i mode. 1080i, not 1080p - that is probable the main thing why it doesnt wok. Projector just doesn't supported that resolution and it just doing reset each time. And here is the thing - i can't change enything because windows keep all resolution statuses for all devices somewhere and after you plug them in windows trying to resume previous resolution. And i can't change it!
If is anyone know how to delete resolution statuses from the windows i will be very appreciate. Thank you everyione.

Use only the Nvidia transmitter and set the projector to 3d mode.
Hopefully that will work for you.

Go back to the 129 3d vision drivers and use the Acer .inf hack.

Watercool any gpu cheap, AKA- "The Mod"
You could try this, switch the resolution (in game) to something else, anything else, save it then switch it back to the proper resolution agian and save. I have this happen once in a while also on my sammy 2233. Works everytime
Here is the thing - i don't play any games, so when i changing resolution in Windows - projector just doesn't work properly - i just see black screen and i can't do anything. Probably i just need to clean windows from the projector drivers (cauz widows keep all settings of last projector state) and then i should run over again. But i just cant clean windows, i don't know where it keep all settings for the monitor state.

Maybe you forgot to set your Projector as the primary display in the nvidia-control-panel? You can try to set it as your only display so the laptop-panel is getting disabled.
But maybe you allready tried this
And don't be confused about 1280x720@120Hz.
