Generally making older games work in 3dvision
I'm interested in learning how to get games to work on 3dvision, particularly older games (for example, Phantasy Star Online: Blue Burst). I just want to know what sort of things I should be looking out for in order to 1) determine if something can be made 3d and 2) what I can do to tweak settings and get it working.

Generally speaking most DX9/d3d9, which it looks like PSO:BB is, games will either just trigger 3D Vision or need to be added to a Profile with the StereoProfile flag, eg 3D-Hub Player... and most can be fixed/tweaked with HelixMod. Some DX8/d3d8 games will also work in 3D but others you will need to use dgVoodoo2 to get it to work in 3D, 3DMigoto to fix/tweak Shaders and possibly Profile tweaks, such as StereoTextureEnable... the nice thing is this also works on most older pre-DX8/d3d8 '3D' games as well. Honestly I would have made a guide already but there's this one-eye issue when using dgVoodoo with some games/elements(HUDs) that I haven't been able to sort out via Profile Settings and I'm not exactly sure where it's coming from... edit:that and newer versions of 3DMigoto don't seem to play nice with dgVoodoo2(crashing with versions after 1.2.1)

MSI Afterburner is an easy way to do this via it's in game overlay. Check out this YouTube Video Know that if the game is dx7, there will be no info shown. If it's OpenGL, it does not list the version number supported.

Also, when you first launch the game and you see in the overlay, something like "this game is not rated by Nvidia Corp", then you know that it does not have an official game profile. Once you hit ctrl+alt+ins to turn off the overlay, the exe will get a default profile generated and assigned to it. This defaul profile is generally incorrect and you'll find that you need to find another one that works or make a custom profile.

Thanks for all the guides. I will surely get working on this sometime! In the meantime, if you're wondering, the game is Phatasy Star Online Blue Burst
