Avatar is playable in 3D at 1920 x 1080 60hz in a 3DTV.
After reading some stuff in the web about Avatar the game which I've played a few months ago, that did no require 3DTV Play to play in 3D in those new 3D TV's.
Well, it's true, I reinstalled Avatar and I was able to play it in 3D in my Sammy 3D plasma. Amazing quality, no ghosting and crispy FULL HD image at 60hz. Yes 60hz, not 24hz!!!!!!!
What I did: I entered Avatar the game option's and enable 3D and selected interlaced mode instead of 3D Vision. Than I pressed the 3D key on my Samsung remote control and selected the middle 3D layout option, interlaced. The 3D effect was kind weird, so I figure it out that swaping sides would fix that. So I checked the in game option to invert left and right sides and It worked flawlessly. Perfect 3D in Avatar without 3DTV Play.
Now, you guys explain this to me, please: Why I was able to play Avatar in 3D in my Sammy plasma at 1920 x 1080 60hz, no 24hz here??????
I didn't selected any of those 2 3D resolutions in the Nvidia control panel, cause Avatar uses a different mechanism to enable 3D.
Anyway, If I try to play a bluray 3D it will play in 1920 x 1080 24hz, so I thought that 1920 x 1080 3D was only possible at 24hz with those new 3D TV's, but that ain't true, cause I've ran a few tests and I can say for sure, I've played Avatar in 3D at 1920 x 1080 60hz, I have even used Fraps to monitor my frame rates, and I was getting an average of 50FPS.
Now, I don't get it, why using Avatar the Game interlaced 3D option I can get 60hz out of FULL HD 3D, and with 3DTV Play I am limited to 24hz???? WHY????
Now I come to this conclusion, if all new 3D games had 3D in mind like Avatar did, and had lots of 3D layout options like Avatar did, than we would not depend on Nvidia unreleased 3DTV Play, and we all would be able to play games at 1920 x 1080 3D and at 60hz, which would be just AWESOME.
Now, how can be 24hz FULL HD 3D a limitation of the HDMI 1.4, If my PC was connected to the TV using a HDMI cable and I was able to play Avatar in 3D FULL HD 60hz??? I really don't get this, am I missing something???
If you guys don't believe me, just give it a try, I can say for sure that it's possible to play Avatar in a Samsung 3DTV at FULL HD 3D 60hz. But you must choose the interlaced 3D option for both TV and Avatar settings. I can't say it works for other TV brands, some say Panasonic don't have interlaced option... But I know it works with Samsung 3DTV.
I haven't been able to try 3DTV Play yet, I just see HDMI 1.4 bluray 3D in the Nvidia control panel. Avatar was the only game I was able to try in 3D in my Sammy 3D Plasma.

1. Avatar has 3D mode natively built in to the game and lets you choose checkerboard, interlaced, top/bottom...etc. Its one of 3 games out today which has this. You probably weren't using Nvidia 3D vision for this but samsung glasses and samsung interlaced 3D setting. ITs the only game you can play on the PC like this.
2. Samsung 3D TVs support a lot of formats, like interlaced or checkerboard. Those formats are not specified by HDMI 1.4 spec and no game in the future will be made with this format in mind.
3. And finally...do you know what "interlaced 3D" is? It isn't 1080p per eye...not even close.
The HDMI chip in the current 3D TVs can not handle 1080p 3D @ 60 hz per eye.

The interleaved option does not give full-hd image because one frame consists of one left respective right eye views. The odd lines are left and the even lines are right (could be the opposite, dunno...). Therefore you can choose a higher refreshrate since only one combined frame is transfered instead of two.
And yes: games who already have inbuilt 3d-options generally works better in 3d than when you have to rely on a stereodriver. This is because gamedevelopers had 3d in mind while making the game.

Thank you very much for your knowledge, very interesting information you added to this thread, I wasn't aware of this interlaced limitation to FULL HD.
Anyway, does interlaced mode + 1920 x 1080 + 60hz better than 1280 x 720 60hz using 3DTV Play??? You said interlaced 3D is not even close to 1080 per eye, but is it still better than 1280 x 720 60hz per eye???
Avatar looked gourgeus on my Sammy 3DTV, it looked FULL HD, but I haven't tested it enough though.
I wasn't able to try 3DTV Play yet, I'm frustrated cause I have a 3D Vision kit and a brand new Sammy 3D Plasma. So I can't really compare to my Avatar 3D experience.
Anyway, Avatar looked really good in 3D using the interlaced option.
What If I have chosen the side-by-side 3D layout in Avatar option's instead of the interlaced, Would I still no get 1080 per eye at 60hz???
So, Avatar is the only available game with 3D native mode??
I haven't had the oportunity to test 3DTV Play yet, but I read a lot of folks disapointed about having to play games in the big screen at 1280 x 720. I guess this really sucks, cause at 22" you really don't need FULL HD resolution, but beyond 50" is almost crucial to have a FULL HD resolution, I'm just not sure if gaming in 720p 3D, it gets a little bit better, haven't seen yet.

And yes: games who already have inbuilt 3d-options generally works better in 3d than when you have to rely on a stereodriver. This is because gamedevelopers had 3d in mind while making the game.

Cheers and thank you for replaying....
