Not currently documented if this is geometry 3D[Standard]/ Depth Buffer.
I plan to try it out today. Will update.[Its experimental so please keep that in mind]
Seems they are going about it right though. My problem with other people attempting wrappers were just going for "big names". They are going for games built around the large Field of Visions/First Person. I am not sure if these games face issues with depth with such expanded FOV's however but I plan to try them out. They document 110 fov for borderlands 2 and from my experience that causes a lot of issues [This is my main concern with renderers on rift]. So I'd like to see how they deal with it.
Anywho will have to see.

Tried: Borderlands 2~Works
Bioshock 2~ Kinda? Game is 2D
Well it seems to be the best renderer on the rift with some great ideas. Not necessarily playable but seems cool. The implementation for tackling the issues seem to be in place. Most of my problems with Rift rendererer's to this point is they don't consider the issues from a 3D standpoint of using such a display[Field of vision]. But it seems to be working on it and seems to be focusing on only doing certain games well rather then broad focus. Which I agree with.
Unfortunately its hard to give an actual opinion of the [u]future[/u] due to the resolution. Like I think its reducing qualitity of image but... it's kind of impossible to tell on dev kit. It might be obvious at high resolution but I really don't want to put my foot in my mouth by giving an opinion on it. The resolution on dev kit is pretty abhorrent, could honestly reduce game qualitity by half and I wouldn't have any idea.. Could probably check if your display supports side by side [mine doesn't]
Regardless at the moment it seems to be going in the best direction.

Great to hear, right now tridef is the only company taking 3d seriouly for gaming, so Rift support is amazing, thanks for the update eqzitara
All hail 3d modders DHR, MasterOtaku, Losti, Necropants, Helifax, bo3b, mike_ar69, Flugan, DarkStarSword, 4everAwake, 3d4dd and so many more helping to keep the 3d dream alive, find their 3d fixes at http://helixmod.blogspot.com/ Also check my site for spanish VR and mobile gaming news: www.gamermovil.com
The rift is not only a stereoscopic device. Since it also have headtracking it needs additional hooks to function properly with games. Sometimes emulating a mouse isn't enough. If VR hooks up then i can imagine this will work well too! Nice found. Need to update my tridefversion before the arrival of the devkit. :D

Hi eqzitara .. I just got my rift developer kit exactly one hour ago .. I'm happy to hear of this Tridef support.
Do you have any tips before I get started with checking my Rift out?
Any links for tutorials that you know of?

Try source engine/ tuscany demo [part of the developer software demo]
Then work your way from that.
Tridef is not currently playable keep in mind, but you can still play around with it.
People "claim" tridef runs faster on AMD. TBH, I kind of doubt it and I really doubt anyone actually checked it so its just words.
Anywho the main problem is SLI doesn't work with Tridef. Then their is always a cost of running on tridef over 3d vision. I guess it depends on the game. I can't say how much of a "cost" it is because Tridef can sometimes be astronomical in some situations.

Ok, but on the rift I'm not using 3D vision, right?

Thanks eqzitara..
Tried the Tuscany demo .. While I am disappointed in the resolution of the Rift.. I can see what people mean by the screen door effect.. the sense of being there is amazing!! Wow!!
I was doing okay until I started to use my controller to move around .. then motion sickness took hold .. think I need to build up to my VR legs

Yeah, you really need to spend a while in VR on a daily basis but then it gets really better.

The blur + resolution unfortunately does not. TBH, I dont see the point of playing anything on it at the moment. Just waiting for consumer build pretty much besides playing around with.
The only "game/demo" that the rift dev kits downfalls didnt seem to greatly effect was a game called..
First Law [url]http://www.riftenabled.com/admin/app/11[/url]
Due to the darkness of game and how it is played it seems to work well on dev kit. Should give it a try. I think its a very good way to get used to the kit.

I'll give that a try .. I think I am going to get use to moving around the Tuscany Demo some more before trying anything else.. but I can really see the potential of the rift..
I guess I could always try modding the rift with a higher res display .. I wonder what model screen they are using for the new hd prototype

It's personal but I disagree. I really enjoyed playing half life 2!
At first the blur and the low-res was a big issue. I'm used to a 3D surround setup. But I kept gaming and when I got into the game I forgot about all the flaws and that's where it kicked in: OMG I'm IN City 17!
And yeah, it's far from where it needs to be, but for me, THIS is how I want to game at some point.

Tbh, I dont think modding it is likely at this point due to the software at the moment. Like games are built for rift at 1280x800. Probably easy for dev's to change res, just not you.
Try the game I mentioned. It will be much more comfortable.
