Optoma HD66 (with New Firmware) Help!
I ordered a Optoma HD66 from Amazon (through Beach Camera) as soon as it arrived I tinkered with it for an hour then sent it to Optoma for the firmware update. The process took 11 Business Days (5 Days to get them the unit, 5 Days for them to update, 1 Day for them to ship it back) I guess you could take 4 days off that if you decided to ship it quick... but for $20 on fedex ground was good enough for me (This was the Canadian Optoma RMA in Richmond Hill, ON, I'm in British Columbia)

So last night I ceiling mounted the HD66 and began trying to get Nvidia 3d working.

Attempt #1

Optoma HD66 connected to my GTX 460 via DVI-to-HDMI Addapter to 50' HDMI Cable..
The "3D" option on the projector remained grey'ed out and I could not change it...

I also Have my Samsung 46' LED (non-3d) connected via MINI-HDMI to my Onkyo RC260 ...

I made the Optoma the primary display and tried to get 3D working, It allowed me to change the refresh rate to 120hz within the nvidia control pannel but the screen goes all funky once I change it to 120hz.. Green / Red/ Yellowish squigly lines all over.. (See Picture)

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

I used the newest drivers 260.99 I also tried 260.89 along with the latest NVIDIA 3D Vision Controller Driver v260.81...
I also tried the older GeForce 3D Vision CD v1.33 all with no luck!!

During tests I had both the Samsung TV and Optoma hooked up as well as Just the Optoma HD66 by itself all with no success...

Attempt #2

Optoma HD66 connected to my Onkyo RC260 via Mini-HDMI to Hdmi input on my receiver (input #3 will try #1 this evening)

To my surprise when I checked the Optoma HD66 menu the "3D" option became available... OFF / DLP Link / Nvidia 3d Vision were the options!!!

So I put it on Nvidia 3D vision and the projector resolution showed 1280x720 120hz ....

But now when I tried to run the 3D vision setup to configure my glasses it doesn't detect the Optoma HD66!!! Soooo I got stuck at this point and had to goto sleep.... I'll play around with it more tonight.. I dont know if anyone else has an updated HD66 but maybe someone from Nvidia can help??

It sounds like a similar problem I was having with my acerh5360, It stopped being recognized through my hdmi cables once I installed my gtx470, I ended up using a dvi by VGA cable and low and behold it ran in 3G just fine through VGA. 1280x720 @ 120hz

You should try with a shorter HDMI cable like 6 ft to 10 ft.. Sometime longer cables can be a problem.

Try this.

1. Unplug all of your other displays so that the optoma is the only one connected.
2. Run driversweep and remove all traces of nvidia driver(s) and reboot
3. Install latest driver
4. Make sure windows sees the projector correctly
5. Run 3d vision wizard

Yep I agree with this, first confirm it's not the cable.
I had a 25ft HDMI cable on one of my projectors that was fine with some sources and not others, the symptoms looked a lot like what was in that picture.

Alright So the long HDMI cord was the problem....

I installed my GTX 460 in my Main PC which is located 5ft from where the projector is ceiling mounted... I uninstalled drivers and did a Driver sweep and installed the GTX 460 with the newest 260.99 drivers & 3D Vision driver I used my Samsung monitor for this. I then hooked up my Optoma HD66 with a 15ft HDMI Cable and rebooted the computer... The Projector was shown as Optoma 3D03.. I disabled my Samsung Monitor .. I then went into the setup for the 3D Vision and it came up normally. The projector switched over to 120hz automatically, and the configuration went as it should..

With 3D working I then changed my Resolution to 1280x720 x 120hz and loaded up Power DVD 10 I tested a couple movies all which worked great. I especially enjoyed the Black Eyed Pea's in Concert - I got A feeling .. where the confetti comes down near the end of the song Very cool in 3D...

Hi

As a general rule, the target 3D Vision display should be set as the primary monitor.
