I asked this in the Surround Forum and received an answer from Nvidia: https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/776196/nvidia-surround/will-a-single-gtx-980-run-3d-surround-/

You've been given slightly incorrect information in that thread. HDMI cannot output to a 3d vision monitor. Displayport-DVI adaptors can solve this problem, if it's a powered adaptor. Here's a guide with more information. https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/571045/-tutorial-review-3d-vision-on-laptop-or-surround-but-my-gpu-has-2-dvi-and-1-dp-what-to-do/?offset=5#3882705

You're definitely going to have an easier time if the cards have two DVI ports. :)

Unless I'm mistaken, the photo from the Gigabyte card as well as the EVGA card with two DVI ports show one DVI-I and one DVI-D. Will that matter for 3D Surround?
