Need some advice - Panasonic PTAE7000U 3D
Hello everyone,

I had a couple of quick question for the experts. I'm about to purchase a 3D projector and this is the one I was looking at, Panasonic PTAE7000U 3D . I currently have an earlier version 2D Panasonic projector that I love, but I wanted to make sure this was a good choice. If there is something better, even if it is more expensive I'm ok with that.

On to the questions.

1. Will the Panasonic PTAE7000U 3D easily run and recognize 3D vision?

2. Will it be bright enough in 3D in a windowless, black basement?

3. Will it work well with the computer and for 3D games like Skyrim? The screen is about 9 feet wide.

4. Also, do you need a special screen for a 3D projector? I have the wall painted a flat white right now and it works really well with the 2D projector.

Thanks in advance for the help.

This projector won't recognize 3D Vision.
It's doubtful that this projector will satisfy your needs because it lacks a DVI connection. HDMI lacks the bandwidth to support 3D gaming in framepacking/ frame sequential mode, so if the projector doesn't do checkerboard mode, you'll be stuck with scaled down resed, super ugly 720P images.
The problem is Nvidia gaming software doesn't support SBS or other native resolution modes other than CB, and Panasonic doesn't support CB mode.
Eventually 1080P 3D projectors will have future HDMI1.5 connections, but until that day comes, they aren't suitable for 3D gaming unless they have CB mode support.

Thanks for the reply. I appreciate the information.

Is there a 1080p projector out now that does work really well with 3D gaming? I see people using projectors in the $1k range and say they are working great. Is there something in the $3k to $5k range that would do an outstanding job with games like Skyrim?

Thanks again for the help.

I'm also very curious about the answer to Teslah's last question.

I was thinking of purchasing the PT-AE7000u & building a SLI/CrossFire gaming PC to play games in 1080p 3D... but if they're gonna be down-rezzed to 720p, forget it! 1080p 3D on a projector just sounds mouth-watering :)

Roller11-- can you use DDD to output checkerboard 1080p to displays that accept it to get 1080p 3D at 60Hz per eye?

Thanks!
