What a disapointment to find out that this is not supported in XP. I have the $200 glasses and the DLP tv to display it. I have an HTPC set up that is used only for watching movies, playin music, and gaming it only has a 9800 GTX but it still playes games fairly well... I have no need or want to run Windows Vista (besides the 3D Vision). I know I should have read the minimum req more closely but it never even occured to me XP wouldnt be suported..
Does Nvidia have any plans to put out an XP driver or do I just sell the glasses?

Doesn't seem like there will be an XP driver. But if you can still get in on the free Windows 7 beta, you could try your luck there to see if the drivers will install under Windows 7 (it is possible apparently). You have to remember XP is an 8 year old OS, and with the coming release of Windows 7, support for XP will dwindle.

yeah my original plan was to install Window 7 on my HTPC but I was having to many problems getting everything to work right (driver issues) so I just used XP pro. None the less it is still disapointing. I am not going to spend money on Vista when Windows 7 is right around the corner.

UPDATE WINDOWS XP DRIVER IMMEDIATELY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I will never install Vista. W7 will be buggy and useless at least for next 2 years after release - as we all know from history of M$ - Win works good only after 2nd service pak.
Around me about 80% of people use XP (they even downgraded from Vista on new computers), some use W2K and only about 10% use Vista and half of them want downgrade to XP too.
Why we all cannot use stereo on our computers????
I see driver for XP/W2K released at 2006... I even don't try it cause I use latest video driver and I'm not sure ancient stereo driver will work well with new video.
BUT I WANT SEE STEREO 3D ON MY PROJECTOR SCREEN!!!!

they want people to upgrade period. All the games that use 3d vision can be used with Direct X 9 in Vista. The compatablilty is there but it will NEVER happen! I know it sucks, I had to upgrade to Vista, and I still like XP better. They will not support Xp because they want people to spend the money and roll over to Vista and soon to be Windows 7

I'd sell the glasses.
Microsoft won't be supporting Windows XP in a couple months, and it's their product. When OS's lose MS support, hardware and software vendors follow.
There won't be Windows 3.1, Windows ME, Windows 2000, Windows NT4, or DOS drivers for 3DVision either- sometimes you just have to upgrade your OS to play with the new stuff.
This is like the "Why aren't there any high end AGP cards?!" debates we saw for years after the switch to PCIE. Yes there were still a lot of AGP motherboards out there and companies could have made some money selling to the holdouts. They didn't though because companies need to standardize for driver and manufacturing efficiency.
Same thing here, NVIDIA isn't going to write drivers for a dead OS that MS has abandoned. They have the choice of using driver resources on the current industry standard (Vista) and developing for the upcoming industry standard (Windows 7) or wasting their time so some guys with a 9 year old OS don't have to upgrade. In the tech business you code for the future, not unsupported legacy stuff.
There won't be many people on XP in 2 years no matter how buggy Windows 7 turns out to be. Support for XP will be too limited for anyone but mom n pop to use good ol' XP anymore.

There might be good reasons to not use XP as well, for example, the render ahead limitation that scuttled quad SLi on XP.

gourmet you are an idiot, please stop posting useless things here.
listen to me - this is a USER TO USER forum, there are NO NVIDIA guys here. even if they where do you think they would listen to you? if you walk into a shop that doesnt sell your favorite magazine and shout "SELL MY FAVORITE MAGAZINE< I WANT IT NOW" do you think they would rush to sell it? or wopuld they laugh at you and throw you out of their shop.
if you bought the hardware without researching if it works with your OS then its YOUR FAULT not nvidias. xp is old and outdated and wont get support.
windows 7 is much better than xp and its much better than vista, there isnt anything you can complain about it, it is faster than vista and its faster than xp. it looks nicer and supports more things than xp does (as you have found out). it isnt unstable, the issues some people have had are related to it being a beta release. they will be sorted with the release candidate.
the only reason you dont want to move OS is because you are lazy/stingy with your money. that isnt a good enough reason for nvidia or microsoft, or anyone for that matter.

This is delusional.
MS determines support, not you. Vista will be supported another 5-6 years, Windows 7 another 7-8, and XP another 2 months. Get used to frustration if you're determined to use XP.

Please start holding your breath now and keep holding it until XP support comes out. It might also help if you lie down on the floor and start flailing your arms and legs crying incessantly, or maybe even start banging your head against the wall. Just don't let the red stain bother you as that is normal.

listen to me - this is a USER TO USER forum, there are NO NVIDIA guys here. even if they where do you think they would listen to you? if you walk into a shop that doesnt sell your favorite magazine and shout "SELL MY FAVORITE MAGAZINE< I WANT IT NOW" do you think they would rush to sell it? or wopuld they laugh at you and throw you out of their shop.
if you bought the hardware without researching if it works with your OS then its YOUR FAULT not nvidias. xp is old and outdated and wont get support.
windows 7 is much better than xp and its much better than vista, there isnt anything you can complain about it, it is faster than vista and its faster than xp. it looks nicer and supports more things than xp does (as you have found out). it isnt unstable, the issues some people have had are related to it being a beta release. they will be sorted with the release candidate.
the only reason you dont want to move OS is because you are lazy/stingy with your money. that isnt a good enough reason for nvidia or microsoft, or anyone for that matter.

Maybe AMD/ATi has some great 3d support in XP, it might be a good idea to look into that.
Now- we've established yelling at NVIDIA won't make them bend to your will, so let's leave it at that or I'll have to start deleting these as double posts.

Actually Andrew Fear of NVIDIA has been reading this forum and helping people with their issues, evidence of NVIDIA's commitment to this tech.
You are correct in that posting "XP forever, down with Vista" is getting to be pretty much pointless, so I'll put a stop to that.
