Thing is, 3D Vision CB mode is available on all 3DTVs that support CB modes, so the fact that 3DTV Play doesn't support CB is unimportant. Gamers need SBS mode, not a second implementation of CB.

Hey roller, I don't understand what you mean. Are you saying that on my HDMI 1.4 TV which suports frame packing and checkerboard there is already a way to force checkerboard mode without all of the hacks?
If so, please tell me how.

Hi
We are late in enabling this feature but it hasnt been a year yet.
I understand a lot of users want this feature and I am trying to prioritize it.
[/quote]
First, thank you for taking the time to respond.
Second, I feel the word "re-enabling" or "returning" would be more accurate.
I mean, how hard could it be to gives us a check box that overrides the HDMI version check and just installs without support for Frame Packing, even if the TV supports it? A couple lines of text telling the users this setting is really just for gaming and won't play 3D Blu-Rays if they check it, or something like that. You could've given that to us a month or so after this thread got started and then worked on a more elegant solution later.
Lastly, in the words of a great master "Do or do not! There is no try."

No, I'm saying that CB is available to anyone who wants it with cost the only downside (vs CB mode in 3DTV Play). Lack of SBS mode restricts 3DTVs to only three brands for 3D gaming: Mits, samsung, and LG.

Bobeggy,
Are you unable to get CB mode working? If so, let me know and you'll be 3D gaming in 1920x1080 in no time. Meanwhile, nvidia should divert all resources to something we don't already have, SBS mode.

Thanks for your offer, but I am temporarily using my Samsung DLP for a short while which is 1.3 so CB is working just fine and I was able to get my HDMI 1.4 Mitsubishi running CB by using the hacks.
So is SBS a mandatory format? Is it superior to CB? To the best of my knowledge my Sammy doesn't support anything except checkerboard so I'm not sure it will do someone like me any good, at least until I get my Mitsubishi back up.

sbs format is basicaly eatch eye side by side on 1 image,so it has the same resolution reduction as cb i guess in some way.
the best way to test if sbs work on your monitor is to disable 3d vision (it can cause bugs )
enable sbs on your monotor (it isnt automated)
then you can look a youtube 3d video in sbs.
or look a sbs 3d movie in window media player (no need specific player for sbs)
or play sonic generation with the ingame 3d setings (the game is sbs natively)
as you expect it is just a setting monitor sided to know if you are compatible or not.
i expect to see more 3d games with this feature too.

And is there any news about checkerboard yet???

Appreciate some help here understanding this please. I have a Samsung HL67A750. It's a 67" LED DLP 3D-ready rear projection TV, for those who aren't familiar with it. Basically the same as a Mitsu DLP TV, except LED light source instead of bulb. It's awesome. I have the Mitsu-produced HDMI 1.4 adapter for it, that converts HDMI 1.4 3D-modes to the native checkerboard 3D-mode. The TV can of course also accept 3D input in the native checkerboard mode without the adapter. With the adapter, I've been using it with my PS3 for both 3D gaming and watching 3D Blu-rays. I recently decided I wanted to step up the quality for the gaming and get back into PC gaming, so I've built up a nice gaming box with an i7 and 8GB of RAM. I was waiting for Kepler to come out before I made my decision on a video card. I'd like to get a GTX680, my question is, can I output checkerboard format to my TV via HDMI from the GTX680? I can bypass the adapter if need be if the HDMI 1.4 handshake from it will automatically down-res the content to 720P frame-packing. So with the GTX680 hooked up directly to HDMI3 on my TV, with the port named as PC, will I be able to select 1080p checkerboard as the output? I'm guessing I will need to avoid installing the 3DTVPlay software since it seems to automatically downgrade the output to 720P for gaming, is that correct? What else will I need to buy to make this work? Just a 3D Vision emitter? I currently have 5 pairs of DLP-Link glasses, so I don't need glasses, also IR glasses tend to not do as good of a job of blocking the non-defeatable DLP-link signal, so they tend to have a red tint (red on sammy's, green on mits) so I'd prefer to use the higher quality DLP-link glasses. Obviously, I'm not going to replace my TV to get this to work, because there aren't any higher quality TV's on the market for 3D right now. I don't mind spending the money on the GTX680 if it will work, but I don't want to spend a bunch of money on a new video card just to downgrade the quality of the output to my display. Would I need to output via DVI to an HDMI adapter to get the checkerboard output? Do they still have checkerboard as an option in the newest drivers?
Also, do I need to get the emitter? I know I wouldn't be using it, but it appears to act as a sort of hardware key. Perhaps I'm misunderstanding, but even 3DTVPlay seems to require it, while acknowledging that it won't even be on, as you'll be using manufacturer glasses. I can't find the emitter available by itself in the Nvidia store though. I feel like I must be missing something, but it appears that if you are a HDMI 1.4 TV owner, and you buy a Nvidia GPU to use with your TV, you have to buy the 3DTVPlay software, which will use the emitter and glasses which came with your TV, but for 3DTVPlay to work you have to buy the Nvidia Vision kit with emitter and glasses, that won't ever be used? It seems like a huge marketing gaffe, but I'm assuming I must just be misunderstanding it because I couldn't imagine any company being stupid enough to come up with such a consumer-hostile policy. Perhaps it's just unclear, or maybe I'm the stupid one...
Anyway, will GTX680 be able to send checkerboard to my TV via either HDMI, or DVI to HDMI adapter? Thanks!
BTW, interested in playing BF3, Skyrim, Witcher 2, NFS and other driving games, and Bioshock (need to finish it), if that helps. I'll look at other threads for game recommendations if I get this working.

No error, in Mass Effect, it just records in 2D .
I wonder if AA would work in SBS too. It turns off in 3D currently using 3DTV play. At 720p on a large screen those jaggies turn into stairs.

My guess is its 3-4 months away.
The FRAPs issue with frame packing bug would be new to me. What happens? Is there an error message?

Coming up on 4 months here on the 7th of March, got my fingers crossed. Difficult to play games and perform other ...acts... with my fingers cross, so i hope its soon.

46" Samsung ES7500 3DTV (checkerboard, high FOV as desktop monitor, highly recommend!) - Metro 2033 3D PNG screens - Metro LL filter realism mod - Flugan's Deus Ex:HR Depth changers - Nvidia tech support online form - Nvidia support: 1-800-797-6530
