I have a question. Can people without 3D Vision use the 3D fixes to get rid of those annoying option limitations in terms of postprocess effects? Blooms, AA, blurs etc.
Yes. Everyone can use that, in theory. Some people usually mention my fixes in pcgamingwiki for that kind of mods.

INSTRUCTIONS. DON'T SKIP THIS STEP:
- In the game folder, open "dmc5config.ini". And set these options in the "[Render]" block:
PCTargetAPIFallback=Enable
Capability=DirectX12
TargetPlatform=DirectX11
UseVendorExtention=Disable
UseOptimizeShader=Enable
The "UseVendorExtention" line didn't exist for me. Create it. It avoids a bug in cutscenes that made them black (it happens without 3Dmigoto, but only if 3D Vision is enabled in the control panel).
- Don't use motion blur.
- Screen space reflections are rarely used, and in a minimalistic way. To be perfect, they need 100% internal resolution. But there isn't much problem if you change that for this game, compared to RE2.
What the fix has:
- Lots of hotkeys.
- Most thing fixed. Same stuff as RE2, except for small mirror effects.
- Automatic low convergence for cutscenes (it accidentally triggers in the boss fight of mission 1).
To do:
- Fixing things related to mirrors.
- Waiting for a 3Dmigoto version that avoids random crashes so I can fix particles and similar effects completely.
- A depth of field hotkey.
- Playing the entire game. I'm at mission 12.
Hotkeys (never the numpad):
- F1: convergence presets.
- F2: nothing.
- F3: HUD toggle, but there are some small things not included yet.
- F4: nothing.
- F5: vignette toggle. Recommended.
- F6: compute shader reflections at full depth toggle. But it affects foot shadows too.
- 4: nothing yet. It will be the DoF hotkey in the future.
- 5: barrel distortion toggle. This effect is already disabled by default, and I recommend leaving it like that.
- 6: TAA toggle. By default it's how it should be, effect disabled for 3D and enabled for 2D. With the hotkey you switch that state. It only disables frame blending, but not the slight shaking (I've seen much worse in other game).
- 7: radial blur toggle. If you want to disable the blurry speed effect of running fast.
Problem you can find: some random crashes. Unavoidable for the moment. It can happen when you grab blue/purple/golden orbs, for example. The problem isn't too much frustrating, usually just trying again will work.
Can this work with ReShade? I see it says to use DX12 in config so thats automatically a no. However I extracted it with the game set to DX11 and it moved at a crawl. Probably due to the mod conflicting with ReShade. Both ReShade and the nod seemed to not work. Tbh I feel like the mod is more important with the features you added, but doesn't hurt to ask

It's DX11. "TargetPlatform=DirectX11" is the important setting there for that. In theory this 3Dmigoto release (1.3.15) should be compatible with ReShade, but I didn't try it myself.

There seems to be some kind of incompatibility, when both are combined the FPS drops 1by1 until it hits about 5FPS (3840x2160, RTX2080, 7700HQ + 970Evo). Both work fine by themselves. It might just be some problem in ReShade, regardless your mod is pretty awesome and everyone should try the vignette toggle + TAA toggle. Also, the barrel distortion is funny cuz I never would have noticed it until I tried it haha, but that too is a nice addition. Thanks for working on this and I look forward to enjoying the game with this mod

Hi, can you make this same mod for Dead or Alive 6? I mean remove vignette, motion blur, chromatic aberration, etc. I made this account just now to ask if you can do it but sadly I am unable to send you a private message so I decided to post this request here instead.

DarkStarSword is in charge of the fix (search for the thread in the first few pages). Maybe he can make those mods, if he wants.
With Koei Tecmo prices, it's unlikely that I'll buy that game. At least for one or two years.
Thanks for this!
Do you have any idea why is the performance so bad when using ReShade too?
I've tried a different 3dmigoto version containing only HUD toggle and it works flawlessly however having all the toggles (barrel distortion!) from your version would be really useful.

No idea. I haven't used ReShade with this game yet.
As for 3D, I've just fixed one shadows shader that appears in a mission 18 cutscene, and I've also fixed the katana reflection I wanted to fix. Also disabled a problematic override (hash "4f062a32" if you want to disable it in the meantime).
There are a pair of haloing problems that I'm still working on. I'll release an update in the following days, but not tomorrow.

I'm getting alot of crashes preventing me from playing the game around Mission 12.
Compared to no crashes at all in RE2
i7-4790K CPU 4.8Ghz stable overclock.
16 GB RAM Corsair
ASUS Turbo 2080TI
Samsung SSD 840Pro
ASUS Z97-WS3D
Surround ASUS Rog Swift PG278Q(R), 2x PG278Q (yes it works)
Obutto R3volution.
Windows 10 pro 64x (Windows 7 Dual boot)
I'm currently using an unreleased 3Dmigoto build that may help a bit with stability. I still got maybe two crashes in 3-4 hours of gameplay.
Once I finish the game, I'll compare the builds more. And also DSS asked me for a frame analysis log... which I forgot to do yesterday.
I need more [s]power[/s] time, to fix and test everything so it crashes the least possible amount of times.
Any chance to have just vignette and distortion mod off? So far, it's the only things I don't like about this game graphics. Why your mod is forced to be dx11? It gives me occasional stutters, while normal game, without your mod, runs smoothly

DX11 is needed because the modding tool I use (3Dmigoto) is for DX11 games only. It may get DX12 compatibility someday, but it may take years.
I don't think your stutters are caused by the fix. I only use one regex and I never had stutters. Maybe I'll consider doing a simpler mod for 2D users, but I want to finish fixing some stuff and add the depth of field toggle.

A Steam friend of mine told me that in "dmc5config.ini" you can set contact shadows to "ON" instead of "CUSTOM", and that forces contact shadows for gameplay. It works, although there are some surfaces where it's applied and it doesn't make complete sense. This generated a new shader that I had to fix, and my GPU usage at a specific spot went from 86% to 96%.
That's all I could do with the little time I had yesterday. DarkStarSword said on discord some things I can try for the game stability.
I also need to do the last two missions to finish the game. This weekend I'll upload an update.

I'm so excited.
Love this game. It's a hell of a lot of fun. Been so unbearable to not play it that I broke my usual code of waiting for the fix, and played it anyway.
I can tell it will look amazing if you manage to get all the particle effects fixed. It's already awesome as it is and probably would have just played it through first run (or two) already, if it wasn't for the crashes.

Prepare to be even more hyped :p. Less than half an hour ago I made this: https://u.cubeupload.com/masterotaku/DevilMayCry5100.jpg
Accurate and proper depth for specular reflections. And that doesn't mean surface depth. It doesn't mean full depth either. Those "fake" reflections have depth themselves! All of this without breaking shadows or anything :).
I don't have many screenshots about it yet, but the game looks a lot better now. Less "flat", to say it in some way.
Resident Evil 2 will need the updated code too to look like that. But I should make regexes.
About stability improvements, no luck yet.
