Stereo 3d....Crash! On one of my games/sims...
I'm new here, so excuse if this is in the wrong forum.

I had originally posted this help topic on a site that is heavily focused on the simulator known as No Limits Coaster assuming someone there would know...instead, a dead topic collecting dust and dead spiders...

In the past, I had been able to run NL (No Limits) using the Stereo 3d driver. Time went by, I think I may have updated my Nvidia drivers, I upsized my screen to a 32 incher. More time passes, I upgrade my card to a Geforce 8500 GT...liked the sounds of having 1 gig of video memory for my sim. Works great, 100 fps.

Aside from that, I went to get the latest drivers for the Stereo 3d (I'm planning on using my Hannah Montana Anaglyph glasses I snagged from Wal Mart..lol) realizing there's no more WinXP support. I found an older driver (supporting WinXP) on Guru3d, which the file name says "StereoE16250-[Guru3d]".

I installed the drivers, went into the Regedit to change the values so that I have access to the Stereo3d controls. (Went to NvidiaCorperation/NvCplApi/Policies/ContextUIPolicy and changed it's hex value to 1)

I enabled the 3d stereo by hotkey and when I do that, and go to run NL, it crashes upon loading. I am kindly greeted with this message (See image)

It sucks because this used to run in the past. I would like to see this again on my larger screen at the higher resolution.

System requirements...doesn't ask for *that* much, in which my computer is capable of anyway:

"Min. requirements
Windows 95b, 98, ME, NT4.0, 2000, XP, 2003
Pentium compatible processor with 300 MHz
64 MB RAM
120 MB free harddrive space
Fully accelerated OpenGL compatible graphics card with 16 MB VRAM
DirectX 7

Recommended
Windows XP
16 Bit Soundcard
Pentium3 Prozessor with 700MHz
Graphics card with 32 MB VRAM
DirectX 9"

My computer specs: AMD Athlon 64 2.4 ghz, 1 gb DDR2 ram, Geforce 8500GT with 1 gig VRAM. I'm currently using the latest Nvidia drivers for the best performance out of my card. Thanks for the help!

The latest forcewaredrivers for vista and for your card works only with the zalman monitor and anaglyph mode (no separate stereodrivers needed though). /blarg.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':/' />
If you still have winxp there are no decent nvidiadrivers for your card.
So: If you're running winxp, either get a used 7900GT or GTX and play with older forcewares+stereodrivers on your computer or try to use the iz3d-drivers. Iz3d-drivers does for the moment lack support for shutterglasses but the team is working hard on the issue.

Note here: Personally i rather support iz3d than nvidia who obviously gave up support for 3d-stereo when introducing the 8000 series of cards. The 8800GTX i have is a proof of that. The only decent stereo-3d it brings doesn't come from nvidia but with the iz3d-drivers. Next card and the card after that will not be nvidia regardless of what they do now.

The new "introduction" of stereo-3d with the new zalman and actively shutting off all other stereooptions don't bring me any trust of nvidia. It only make me and others feel like labrats during the time that has been. Not one graphiccard company should have exclusive rights for s-3d and that's the good thing that came with this. Even though i still have to thank nvidia for at least the few years i enjoyed great stereo-3d from them. After all it's actually good if others take over. Decent drivers that do not rely on specific hardwares. Exactly the way it should be.

I wish you good luck though. :D

cheers
