Need help upgrading for my 3D vision video card questions
Hey guys,
I noticed that when I play 3d vision Batman:AA and Physx is turned on it kills my framerate (playable but a little choppy). I am looking to get one of the new Fermi cards when they are released (soon i hope) but I have a few questions:
1) Will my CPU bottleneck the new Fermi Cards?
2) Without changing my motherboard, can I use my old 9800GT for PhysX (in a PCIEx1 spot) and still use the new Fermi board (I know I will need a bigger power supply)?
I get decent frames out of 3D vision but I want more (my wife calls me the Tim Allen of computer, I always end up breaking something)

Here are my specs:
AMD Quad Core 9650 2.3ghz
4GB of DDR 2 Ram
1GB 9800GT
Samsung 61" DLP 1920x1080
450 watt power supply
1 PCIE x 16 slot
3 PCIE x1 slot
Flux Capacitor :)

just a quick question but why is your cpu only running @ 2.3 i have that excact cpu and it runs @ 3.0 stock?
unsure about the rest of the system, but that psu could do with a upgrade. imo

I don't know. I got it that way from HP. I know there is a Black Edition. Are you sure you don't have that?

hi again , no mine isnt the qx version i had to upgrade to this after i blew my other on a phase change unit,
this is my cpu and i think your's too,
http://www.intel.com/products/processor/co...cifications.htm
could possibly a bios issue ie linked to ram or something similar.
either way i think some thing is not set right and your system could do more as my q9650 is on water and runs @ 4.2 stable

Ahhh...I see the confusion. Mine is an AMD Phenom II Q9650 Quad Core. Yours is Intel. That is why. I checked on my processor and it is not so good for overclocking.

1. Probably.
2. No. The 9800GT would not perform well in a PCIE x1 slot.
