I want to share my thoughts about 3D monitors, because I feel as if I needed to buy a new one and never decide myself about which one is better in my situation.
Currently I have a Samsung 2233RZ (a prehistoric one capable of Nvidia 3D vision content, with native 1680x1050 resolution) that I use almost for everything..., and an ACER H5360 proyector that I barely use for anything but to watch 2D movies (hardly ever to play 3D games, because it is more confortable to play with the 2233RZ).
What I have in mind is to improve and buy a new monitor, but reading coments about most recent compatible 3D monitors (specially PG278Q), I feel as if my 2233RZ were the perfect monitor already, at least for me, to play 3D content, provided that:
- It is only 1680x1050 and 22": apparently that is not a good thing, but if we have in mind that playing 3D is very hardware demanding, maybe having this smaller monitor to play is a good idea to have a smoother experience.
- My 2233RZ shows me some ghosting, but I suspect that is is less than what I could experience with the ASUS PG278Q.
- I have never had any complain about any dead pixel, glow, or any anomaly with the panel of my 2233RZ.
- My 2233RZ is not g-sync, but when playing with 3D you can not activate g-sync anyway. So maybe is a good idea to have two monitors on my desk, one with g-sync (to use as a main monitor and to play g-sync 2D games) and the other my current 2233RZ (to play 3D games).
- I have no compatibility issue, or any problem with Nvidia drivers, etc..., just install drivers and voila.
So..., mybe the best solution in my case is not to buy an new expensive 3D monitor like the PG278Q (675€), but to focus myself on buying a new monitor with great picture quality, g-sync, and 2K/4K (and of course at least 120hz, even if it is not for 3D gaming), like the "DELL S2716DG" (650€ nice monitor, even thought it is TN panel), or maybe "Acer Predator XB270HU" (supposedly better quality image beacuse is IPS, but worse aesthetics, and no possible to connect a console in the future).
Asus PG278Q would be a good choice if I were not scared about buying something that is going to be broken suddenly without any cause. There are many reports about problems, and I would not be confident with that monitor even if apparently there were no problem the 1st day.
If there were OLED monitors everything would be easier, I would have no doubt, but there aren't.

No idea why it is so hard for you. 22" to 27" is your upgrade. Resolution, not so much,if going from 1050P to 1080P. There's also quite a few users that are perfectly happy with their PG278Q, sure some were unhappy with it, a lot of that had to do with SLI not working with it.

An alternate route could be ASUS 24" VG248QE 1080P - 3D Ready, ONLY 300 € !
This is also an TN panel, I use an edid override to get the best out of it in 2D.
No issues other wise, no dead pixels, very little ghosting, so i'm pleased with it !!

Well, following your advices I am reading some coments about ASUS 24" VG248QE, and indeed it is what I need IF I could find the "VG248QE G-Sync upgrade kit", because I want my monitor to be g-sync.

The problem is that I can not find the upgrade in Europe. I don't understand why ASUS does not sell together or appart the monitor and the g-sync upgrade. If I can not upgrade to g-sync, I have to forget this monitor.
There is another not very expensive choice monitor with g-sync + 3D Vision, the "AOC G2460PG" (125€ more expensive than VG248QE and with g-sync integrated), but no idea about ghosting using 3D.
Paying more money, I become to consider "ASUS PG278Q" (675€), but with bad reports about 3D ghosting (I am a bit confused about this, because it seems to depend on the Windows version and other factors to have more or less ghosting with this monitor). The problem is that VG278HE is not g-sync, and no possible "upgrade kit".
AOC G2460PG is both, g-sync and 3D vision, and being 24" is not a problem, maybe is even a good thing. The principal doubt is about ghosting. In terms of aesthetics the AOC is also more appealing to me because I usually don not like glossy things (not very important though).
In am still considering VG248QE, even without g-sync, since the price is really attactive. I have read some comments about a significative differece in quality between 27" and 24" panels, and I am not sure if VG248QE is just VG278HE with the only difference of 24" instead of 27".

Like I said earlier, this is an exelent monitor for gaming, only drawback is it's standard calibration.
Thats only concerning 2d images, webpages and so on, 3D gaming is spot on !
I found this little tool to be very usefull, it changes the color profile for VG248QE and with this the image quality is close to my wifes IPS panel.
Just rename the file to DisplayProfile.exe

Tell me more about your experience with the H5360? For me personally, I find the H5360 to be far more comfortable than the ASUS VG248QE that I upgraded with the g-sync kit. The monitor ghosting is a deal breaker for me, and I'm just curious if there might be something off with your H5360, as mine is nearly flawless.

Tell me more about your experience with the H5360? For me personally, I find the H5360 to be far more comfortable than the ASUS VG248QE that I upgraded with the g-sync kit. Well, I mean H5360 pj is less "comfortable" refered to what I have to do to play before playing, not in terms of quality:
- Extend the receiver because the wall I project the image on is looking backwards and I do not have signal on my glasses otherwise.
- Place the keyboard somewhere else different from my desk. Trying if possible to only use the xbox controller.
- Adjust the resolution of the game to match the 720p resolution of the pj (I have normally played before using the native's 2233RZ resolution).
- Waiting for the Sun to disappear (the room is not precisely dark on the day).
- Adjusting the Depth. Today I do not have clear how to increase Depth so that I have similar to the monitor. I tried to do so a couple of years ago with success, but suddenly the procedure I used (a .bat file executed before launching the game) did not work anymore with the following Nvidia drivers, and I never looked for a fix from that moment on.
- More noise in the room, more electric power needs.
- 720p in a hughe screen is by far less than 1050p using a 22" monitor, in terms or resolution. I personally do not feel more inmersion because of the big screen.
I don't say there is no point in gaming with the pj, but in my situation I almost always play with the monitor. I would prefer to continue talking about monitors.

No matter what display you buy, there are going to be drawbacks, there is not a perfect 3D display.

I personally would spent that extra money for gpu.
If you maintain high fps g-sync is of no use IMO.

I found this little tool to be very usefull, it changes the color profile for VG248QE and with this the image quality is close to my wifes IPS panel.
Just rename the file to DisplayProfile.exe

Tell me more about your experience with the H5360? For me personally, I find the H5360 to be far more comfortable than the ASUS VG248QE that I upgraded with the g-sync kit. The monitor ghosting is a deal breaker for me, and I'm just curious if there might be something off with your H5360, as mine is nearly flawless.

- Extend the receiver because the wall I project the image on is looking backwards and I do not have signal on my glasses otherwise.
- Place the keyboard somewhere else different from my desk. Trying if possible to only use the xbox controller.
- Adjust the resolution of the game to match the 720p resolution of the pj (I have normally played before using the native's 2233RZ resolution).
- Waiting for the Sun to disappear (the room is not precisely dark on the day).
- Adjusting the Depth. Today I do not have clear how to increase Depth so that I have similar to the monitor. I tried to do so a couple of years ago with success, but suddenly the procedure I used (a .bat file executed before launching the game) did not work anymore with the following Nvidia drivers, and I never looked for a fix from that moment on.
- More noise in the room, more electric power needs.
- 720p in a hughe screen is by far less than 1050p using a 22" monitor, in terms or resolution. I personally do not feel more inmersion because of the big screen.
I don't say there is no point in gaming with the pj, but in my situation I almost always play with the monitor. I would prefer to continue talking about monitors.

No matter what display you buy, there are going to be drawbacks, there is not a perfect 3D display.
You should just play in 2D, like you've been talking about for years in multiple posts.
That is true, I increasingly play less and less in 3D. And you are not going to believe me, but my behavior is just the same way with women..., I have problems deciding which one to buy.
Problem is that today I want to have g-sync, just in case I want to play a 2D game, or the game is not 3D compatible.
I think I have clear what I need. I am probably fliping a coin these days..., I am only waiting to have a clear winer to my mind (or maybe a cheap offer) to decide. In the meantime it is a good idea to share some thoughts.
