I'm glad you mentioned that VBI issue, since after I posted this I realized I forgot to list that one. That one is pretty serious and to have no official response puts this in the "do not buy" list for now. Although I am running Vista 64 on this machine so I may not be running older games too much anyway. Its just goofy there are so many unresolved issues specific to Samsung on a TV that is supposed to be "3D ready". I blame Samsung more than Nvidia on that, but I still expect regular updates from Nvidia.
I don't think it's Samsung's tv for you to blame, it's mostly the Nvidia's driver's problem, because before the release of 3D Vision, people have been using the TriDef or IZ3D drivers with the Samsung branded SSG1000 shutter glasses happily without this VBI issue. So you might consider looking into that solution too~ & the cost is just around 100$ for the package, and it works on both XP and Vista, which is way more flexible than the current Nvidia solution in my opinion. /thumbup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

still, nothing is perfect, but don't be discouraged, the 3D LED DLP tv is the best solution right now, if you look into it, the pros definetly outweights the cons, plus you can also use it for 2D purpose to watch movies and play regular console games...etc

on the other hand, you can also wait for the IZ3D to release their new 26'' monitor plus the new improved glasses, which I heard reduced a lot of the ghosting from the current 22'' monitor bundle. But the release date is still unknown, it might take only months or year to be released, so unless you can count on that, I suggest you to get the DLP tv solution. Although the IZ3D 26'' solution seems to be pretty promising in my opinion, plus it uses polarized glasses, which won't cause that much eye strain on your eyes when compare to the LCD Shutter glasses.

I say I blame Samsung because I already know Mits has released one firmware update for 3D issues and I don't hear any Mits users complaining about VBI issues.

But I would only own a LED DLP (which I already do after having a bulb-based first gen Samsung), and Mits can't help me there. I'm not interested in replacing my LCD monitor, so its this or nothing. I really don't like the technology of the other solutions, so at this point I'll wait on Nvidia. Thanks for the input.

No problem.

Actually, I don't know much about the the Mitsubishi laser DLP, but it seems to be a lot expensive compare to the Samsung LED ones...$7000?! compare to a $1500-2000tv

Since Mitsubishi is the official DLP tv that partner up with Nvidia, it's reasonable they will release firmware that address the 3d issue

>> I think I am the only one with the Samsung TV on this forum that's complaining about the VBI issue, so it might be some kinda of drivers issue on my computer........but I don't know for sure

>>if other Samsung DLP users on this forum can kindly test out games that I mentioned with VBI issues, ie: Morrowind, Fable, Prince of Persia Sand of Time, Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines..............etc, and see if they get the VBI issue, that would be awsome! :)

As a Samsung 3D LED DLP owner, I'd say the 3Dvision experience has thus far been great. The only problem I had was the red "tint" I would get with the 3D turned on, but thankfully in the latest drivers, when glasses are on the "tint" is gone. Amazing work Nvidia, just get better support for games and this could bring PC gaming back!

Here are the Samsung LED DLP issues. No plug in play!

1. Resizing the display has NO display profiles. If you're going to setup a HTPC you MAY not encounter this issue, but if you plan to relocate your PC from time to time with HDMI this a headache. There is no resize display that can save and then switch out with my 1680x1050 LCD monitor. I setup an ATI HTPC mb for family and it has the Nvidia beat by a YARD for DLP TVs.

2. HDMI audio has not yet worked for me with the 260 Nvidia card. ATI just install the drivers and good to go!

3. We hear there is a problem with 3D Vision.
Well even with Andrew back I'm not getting any answers here. Can somebody with either a HL67a750 or HL61a750 Samsung DLP please summarize (unbiased please) the current issues with Samsung DLP and 3D vision? If I'm going to invest in the glasses and most likely a new video card, I don't want limitations that aren't likely to be fixed without Samsung involvement, which is very unlikely.

My understanding is that I can't play full screen unless I have overscan (because the hot fix doesn't work with Samsung), and there are issues with a red tint. Is that basically it? For most games neither of these will be an issue but I could see it being a deal breaker in some.
BUMP. . .hoping Andrew can give us a new clue as to if/when there is any more progress on this for Samsung:

From the knowledge base article:
NOTE: Samsung DLP users with models A750, A610, or A510 should not use the Resize HDTV Desktop option right now and should only use the resolutions recommended in this Knowledge Base Article.
Andrew, I'm confused on what you are asking me. You started the thread and said not to try it on Samsung. I did anyway, because I did it on a Windows install I didn't care if I caused problems with, and I ran into issues.

My understanding of the issue is the following. Native full resolution of Samsung DLP gives you overscan. The only way you get 1:1 pixel mapping is with the overscan. I think this hotfix allows you to add a new resolution that is smaller than 1920x1080 (on a 1080p TV) but still gives you 1:1 pixel mapping, therefore not breaking the 3D Vision. My understanding is that for 3D Vision to work it requires 1:1 pixel mapping.

So unless we can use the same hotfix that you developed for Mits users, we will always have overscan which causes problems in many games.

My question is what has to happen to make this same Mits fix available for Samsung users? I did get it to work briefly before I ran into problems so I would think it is possible to make it work without the Samsung caveat.
