It seems to me, Capcom games seem to work great in 3d in general. I often wonder if this is a conscious decision or just a happy side effect about how they go about development of the graphical assets. I suspect the later.

It's a pleasant surprise. I'm surprised they didn't mraket it for being 3D Vision Ready, because it seems Capcom actually put work into making it so.
The original dmc4 had stereo issues that helixmod fixed, but this one is flawless out-of-the-box, even the few remaining issues are fixed, like when at mission completion the breaking glass was behind the UI. Now the UI is behind the braking glass.

They can't advertise it as 3D Vision Ready without paying royalties to nvidia I suspect (since the 3D Vision Ready logo is a trademark).
But! They can make it render properly in 3D;) They should at least say that it supports stereoscopic 3D Rendering;)
This a very good surprise though;)) and much appreciated!!!

It's different than the reboot. Much harder to master. It has more >Japanese< in it. But once you mastered all its special tricks it may be more addictive than the reboot.

I always thought, that this one. (apart from the awful DMC 2) was the worst in the series mainly due to the level design.
I thinking of getting this but I already played the hell out of the original, how are you guys finding it now. Worth it?

RE5 is MT Framework and it was a poster child for 3D Vision. Most games after still use MT Framework, and its a fantastic engine, so I imagine its just they did the work early and for the most part now it just works.

I finally bought the Special Edition. I had to edit the game exe to make it boot :p (http://steamcommunity.com/app/329050/discussions/0/1291816880499283959/).
Things are great in 3D, but water reflections are broken (double depth). I've noticed a few minutes ago that there's a special (and old) 3Dmigoto build that can be used for DX10 games (https://github.com/bo3b/3Dmigoto/releases/tag/0.1.1-alpha). I could dump the vertex and pixel shader and I didn't completely fix them yet. I have to go to bed, but I can say for sure that you can expect a fix by me for this game :). I hope I don't run into things that weren't possible back then in 3Dmigoto.

Things are going well. I made a ".bat" script that calls another ".bat" inside "ShaderFixes" that automatically boots the game and after an 8 seconds countdown (just in case) writes a bit of text in all shaders and makes the Windows "bell" sound, telling the user it's time to press F10.
About shaders themselves, apart from two water reflection shaders (I fixed the reflection but broke a bit the position of the water) I found a fake lighting shader that was at screen depth and appears in multiple missions. I put it at max depth when convergence is 0 and made it a bit convergence variable. However, the effect is cut off at the borders when it isn't at screen depth. Being fake lighting I don't know if I should stretch it to cover them (I have the code for that in my PCSX2 mod, thankfully).

In the end I have uploaded a new version of the fix before waiting for some bo3b/DSS answers about this wrapper version. I didn't want to sit on the update for too long, just in case.
Cutscene black bars are tiny in this game, but I now offer the option to disable them anyway :p.
