I have been unable to find a specific thread dedicated to letting us know the release date of the standalone $40 3D TV software. All the press releases from Nvidia have indicated that the release date was going to be mid to late November 2010, HOWEVER, today is December 5, 2010, and I have been unable to find any updated press releases telling consumers when the software will be available.
Nvidia has the software. If you purchase the $200 3D vision kit, the upgrade to 3D TV is free.
I understand that Nvidia will profit $200 if I purchase the 3D vision kit, but only profit $40 if I purchase the 3D TV software. Either way, I am probably going to purchase what is needed to get 3D TV; I would, however, appreciate a press release or any update telling me when the standalone 3D TV software will be available. Currently there are many NVIDIA users that are dissatisfied that we have not been informed of the new release date.
I would like to know if you are using the delay to maximize your profits. If so, at least let the long-time NVIDIA consumers know. This will eliminate much of our frustration.

So they make the glasses appear out of thin air, dreaming up the idea for all the plans one night? Just because they cost $200 for you doesn't mean they make $200. Same with the software.
You need to pay your workers, they would most likely make more money if they released it then the money they would make on waiting and getting people to buy the 3D kit.
Why can't you wait? When was the last time something was released by anyone on the EXPECTED release date.

1. Nowhere in my post did I complain about the cost of the 3D vision kit. In fact, if you read it completely, you would have seen that I am likely going to purchase it.
2. They have the software. It is available to those that have the 3D vision kit.
3. I dont think I am the only person dissapointed that NVIDIA hasnt given any new information on the new release date of standalone NVIDIA 3D TV.

I just purchased a 3D HDTV and am also frustrated by the lack of 3DTV software, and the lack up updates on the matter.
Maybe Nvidia is trying to sell off overstocked inventories of 3DVision kits (to people who just *can't* wait and who have a spare $200 lying around) before offering the stand-alone product.

Another frustrated new Nvidia customer..... I will not suggest Nvidia to anyone. I switched from ATI 4850 to GTX 470 just to get the 3D TV play software. I believe the Nvidia forum admins do read these complains made by Nvidia customers. They are quite just because they dont have an answer. I just hope they release the software eventually.

You people who talk about boycotting are hilarious.
1. You will still buy the 3D play when it comes out.
2. If a computer you want has a nvidia card in it instead of ati and specs are good you will get it.
3. Nvidia is not stopping you from getting a third party software. Only reason you will not get there software is because they didn't put the "time" into it that nvidia did.(Ironic that for that reason people are screaming their heads off) Maybe its takeing forever cause they are the first and want to perfect on the "new technology."
Would it be nice if they gave a new release date? Yes. Im not saying this as a nvidia fan cause Id go for best video card at cheapest price. Im saying this as a realist.
PS go buy 3d vision and sell it when 3d play comes out.

PPS 3d vision is 160-180 dollars.
1. Retailers make probably 10-15% in sales.
2. 3D vision harware is not free(lol)
3. They have to ship it to retailers.
4. Packageing
5. Defective products. Returns.
I wouldn't be surprised if they make 40 dollars.

It would seem you have the wrong idea about this post. Instead of referring you to my first post that you didnt read, I will summarize:
1. NVIDIA 3D TV sofware is available.
2. The release date for the standalone software was mid to late November.
3. NVIDIA has not given any new information on when they will release it, since it is past the deadline
As far as a lecture in economics, thank you very much, you seem extremely educated on the subject. However, this post is to discuss the new release date for standalone 3D TV play. My intention was to get information on that.

How is that trolling. I'm pointing out that your logic is flawed if you think they are holding out
on releasing it to make more money.
Of course your not the only one disappointed. But one week after the E X P E C T E D release date
is not a valid reason to start complaining.(call it what you want, that is what you are doing)

1. The "beta" software is available as part of a package. The "finished" software is not available that will be sold as a package with all the bells and whistles is not.(Instructions, patches, maybe working with some 3d television companies to increase compatibility to there tevelvisions)
2. Duke nukem forever release date was scheduled for ten years ago, crap happens.
3. There is no deadline.... They don't work for you. They are not stopping you from buying one of the craptier 3d product lines. Yes, they are craptier because they put less "time" into there products. They are putting the time into the product you want . Releaseing it now would cost them less money since they wouldn't have to pay a person to work on it. The reason they haven't posted new release date is probably because they are not certain yet. There may be more brands of televisions they want to include in release. Or maybe new features.
Am I not saying its not a dick move for them not to give a new release date/estimation/explanation? No. Do they have reasons why they haven't given a release date. Most likely.

Thats all I was looking for, are reasons for the delayed release/new release date. Big NVIDIA fan.
Still wondering why if it is the "beta" or "unfinished" software, why is it being bundled on select Dell notebooks? Also, go to http://blogs.nvidia.com/2010/10/nvidia-3dtv-play-now-available-on-dell-notebooks-and-for-3d-vision-owners/ Their only reason for the delay was " we will offer 3DTV Play as a standalone software product, available to purchase from our NVIDIA Online Store in November – we are just getting our storefront ready to go, so stay tuned!"
So...back to square 1. I would, as many other NVIDIA fans, like to know when it will be released. Nothing more.

No one said anything about boycotting Nvidia. I said I will not "recommend" it to anyone. The reason is I am having a bad experience after buying their product. If an international corporation promises a product, and even after the release date they dont even bother to apologize for the delay to their customer, its irresponsible behavior.
1. Yes I will buy the software when it comes out because I bought the hardware for it. If you start reading my lines not between you should see I said "I hope they release the software eventually". That means I am going to buy. But I donot appreciate the wait without any information.
2. When I bought my previous graphics card both Nvidia and ATI were in the market, I chose ATI. I was happy with their product. Only reason I bought the GTX 470 is because I want to connect my pc with my 3D tv. If Nvidia cant deliver that, its disappointing. And yes, in the future I will think twice before buying Nvidia products.
3. Yes, I believe that Nvidia is a better solution currently "FOR 3D". Thats why I am spending my money on their product.
PS. As far as buying a 3D vision and selling it on ebay, I simply do not want to go through that hassle. If I wanted, why would I buy a new one from tigerdirect and sell it on ebay and loose money where I can buy an used one from ebay and sell at the same price?
PPS. I dont care how much margin they make. If the price makes sense, I will buy it.
In the end, all we are asking here in these forums is some response from Nvidia. We are not getting it and we are getting frustrated. Is that too hard to understand?

Seems to me, anyone who shelled out over $800 (like myself) for a couple of GPU's would be entitled to at least a DL of the beta software to try it. I know they dont sell GPU's but they could have leaked it down to the builders. Or at least a limited trial version. Nvidia, get off your bum and get this thing out!
BTW, to all 3DTV users, I just finished watching IMAX Space Station 3D. Had to be one of the coolest things I have ever seen. At least on my 3D tv so far.

3. I dont think I am the only person dissapointed that NVIDIA hasnt given any new information on the new release date of standalone NVIDIA 3D TV.
Troll much?

How is that trolling. I'm pointing out that your logic is flawed if you think they are holding out
on releasing it to make more money.
Of course your not the only one disappointed. But one week after the E X P E C T E D release date
is not a valid reason to start complaining.(call it what you want, that is what you are doing)

Did NVidia appoint you the "Complaining Police"? I didn't get the memo.
Fanboys aside, it would be nice if Nvidia would release a statement with an update on the release date of stand-alone 3DTV.

You people who talk about boycotting are hilarious. 1. You will still buy the 3D play when it comes out. 2. If a computer you want has a nvidia card in it instead of ati and specs are good you will get it. 3. Nvidia is not stopping you from getting a third party software. Only reason you will not get there software is because they didn't put the "time" into it that nvidia did.(Ironic that for that reason people are screaming their heads off) Maybe its takeing forever cause they are the first and want to perfect on the "new technology." Would it be nice if they gave a new release date? Yes. Im not saying this as a nvidia fan cause Id go for best video card at cheapest price. Im saying this as a realist.PS go buy 3d vision and sell it when 3d play comes out. http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=4386845&CatId=5956[/quote]PPS 3d vision is 160-180 dollars. 1. Retailers make probably 10-15% in sales.2. 3D vision harware is not free(lol)3. They have to ship it to retailers.4. Packageing5. Defective products. Returns.I wouldn't be surprised if they make 40 dollars.

BTW, to all 3DTV users, I just finished watching IMAX Space Station 3D. Had to be one of the coolest things I have ever seen. At least on my 3D tv so far.
