Is 3DTV Play free with 3D Vision?
Hey all, first time posting on this forum - my question is about 3DTV Play but I did not see a specific forum for it, so hope I'm posting this in the right place.

Finally got into 3D Vision earlier this year with an ASUS VG278H monitor with built in 3D Vision IR emitter and 3D Vision 2 glasses. Loving it so far! Works awesomely even with my old GTX280 SLI setup.

Now trying to get the 3DTV Play to work with my Panasonic Viera TCP50GT30. From all of the documentation I've been able to find, I should be able to activate the 3DTV Play software for free once I have an existing 3D Vision setup, however I can't seem to get it to activate. I have the latest 301.42 drivers and followed all the steps in the 3DTV user guide - setup the viera as my primary etc. and the doc says that as long as the 3d Vision IR emitter is detected I should see the 3DTV option displayed under "Setup Stereoscopic 3D". I tried downloading the 14 day trial and this did give me the option - I was able to run the 3D setup and tests on the Viera with the panasonic 3D glasses so I know it works. Just don't want to have to pay $40 for software if I should be getting it for free.

Anybody else have issues like this? I'm guessing it's because the IR emitter is not being detected since it is built into the monitor and not the separate USB plug in, can anyone confirm? Is there a way around this? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hi bigweamer, thanks for the reply. I am aware of the 14 day trial version but from my understanding of the system requirements on the 3DTV webpage - customers who already have a 3D Vision setup should be able to activate 3DTV from within the nvidia control panel in the 3D setup page, without having to purchase it. It also indicates this in the 3DTV user setup guide. My problem is that I already have 3D Vision installed, but it is not enabling me to setup 3DTV play.

Yeah, you might need to talk to NVIDIA support about it. I have 3dtv play and not 3d vision, but I do remember reading in multiple places that it's supposed to be free if you already have 3d vision.

If you have emitter plugged in then you don't need to pay as long as your HDTV is supported by 3dtv play. Your pretty much stuck since emitter is built into monitor. I won't say where or how but if you are clever google may show you a non legit way. Only saying this because its kind of unfair you need to pay.
