3d Vision Surround - Nvdia website out of date
So I'm thinking of retiring my trusty GTX690 and upgrading to 2x980's. Most of the 980's have 3 display ports and I have 3x Benq XL2420's, which supposedly supported 3d vision via display port some time ago via a driver update. Does anyone know if one 980 can support 3d vision surround via display port or what the config options are around 980 SLI? I'm currently hooking all three screens up via dual link DVI and my projector (3d vision) via HDMI. The website configurator (http://www.geforce.co.uk/hardware/technology/3dvision-surround/system-requirements) is out of date and does not list the 980, not that I'm surprised unfortunately. Wish Nvidia would help take my money off me!

I know that 3D Vision works on one monitor via display port. No idea if surround works though... In theory it should work. Or..the expensive way is to hook 2 monitors via DVI and buy a DP-to-DVI active adapter for your third monitor. I have one adapter and I was able to run 3D Surround with 2DVI + DP-to-DVI adapter on my 780Tis (actually I did some testing on one 780ti with this config and was working perfectly)... Hope it helps.

Thanks Helifax, I know you can buy something like the Startech adaptor but £70 on top of the cards is a bit rich. Need confirmation from Nvidia before outlaying that sort of cash. Keep up the widescreen fixes by the way, I contributed recently, hope others do too.

It works via Displayport. Regarding converters. Be aware that not all of those converters work for 3D. I did learn the hard way. Most of the active DVI-DP converters do not support 1080p in 120hz. I am using a CLUB3D converter on a single GTX780 and triple screens now, for which I had to spend 130Euro (almost the price of an entire graphics card). The other two monitors are connected via DVI

I am most likely going to pick up two Geforce Gaming 980 editions which should each have 2 DVis hopefully that solves the problem.

Based on one review the GTX 690 outperforms both the 980 and 970 (of course) in BF4 so the question is whether I should swap my 2 690s out for 2 970s or 2 980s. The Larger Vram is definitely a plus and the decrease heat and electricity is good also... hard choices :( My assumption is that the 4GB would be well suited for surround/3d surround gaming
