ASUS GeForce GTX 980 Ti Strix OC - 6GB
Hi Guys I own a 970 GTX Strix OC and I really want to upgrade... It actually runs quite well with most titles today - but I fear many of the upcomming titles will suck the life out off the 970'er.... I must be ready for Fallout 4 :D I think it's very difficult to compare the Cards, because there are so many factors, mem clock, core clock number of cudacores and so on.... I prefer single Card solutions for many reasons.. Soo my questions to the honored members is: Are there any known issues with this Card - especially when it comes to 3D Vision ? Do I gain enough extra power with this upgrade - I know this question is kind of stupid, but what do you think ? Or... I it wiser to wait for the NeXT generation ? Please - share your thoughts and experiencences with me :) My Rig: Win 7 64 I 4790K 4800 MHz on Maximus VII Ranger Asus 970 GTX Strix 4GB single 12 GB ram Samsung SSD + WD Blue Asus VG248 monitor

If any of 980Ti then I would go for EVGA Classified (normal, not Kingpin). Simply because of overclocking potential. Anyway - the performance you are about to experience when you switch is hard to describe. Lets try this way - if you`ve been cutting on details in any game, to keep satisfying performance then You won`t be doing this anymore. Max details and max performance. I didn`t find any game which would make this GPU struggle. Waiting for new generation is pointless - they will be a completely new design and they will cost lot more then worth.

With GTAV I have to cut on "distances" at which the details appear - but not much. Gameplay is smooth as hell - don`t know how many fps I got because I don`t care. With Witcher 3 I got all on max and I have same smooth gameplay. I am always after the smoothest gameplay as I can get - more then visuals. Here I don`t have to compromise. Also remember that I`m using ROG Swift so I am on 1440p.

Impressive SKAUT.. ¨don`t know how many fps I got because I don`t care¨ I agree.. it dosn't matter. Just one more question about GTA V - When I play GTA it seems rather smoot on foot and even in cars - BUT when I look around with the mouse when drivin, there is A LOT of micro stutter. It's not the road but especially the npc's they are allmost blury so much do they stutter :/ And you have nothing of that ?

Don`t play much GTAV so I don`t remember anything like this but I would say that this is because of small frame rate. Won`t happen much when you pick up on overall performance. Anyway - if this is much of a problem then you must be that 1% of those drivers who look sideway when driving straight ;)

The only thing that might be a factor in the move to a 980ti, is that Gigabyte is the only manufacturer offering two Dual Link DVI outputs. This would only be a consideration for anyone that is currently using or considering 3D Vision surround with monitors that do not have a Display port input. For the third monitor an active display port adapter would be required, which runs $60 to $100 or thereabouts. From what I've seen previously, Pascal isn't due out until late 2016. But there is a recent mention on Guru3D suggesting that it could be out Q1 2016. "My info says big Pascal has taped out, and is on TSMC 16nm (Unknown if this is FF or FF+, though I suspect it is FF+). Target release date is Q1'16." quoted from http://www.guru3d.com/news-story/nvidia-big-pascal-taped-out-gp100-silicon,2.html

There is a way to have a chance at a free GTX 980ti. http://www.geforce.com/whats-new/articles/design-an-nvidia-t-shirt-for-charity
