Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic Rated excellent, but won't run on my PC.
  3 / 3
That was pretty nice... I looked up some videos on youtube of it... I like the sound effects and everything...

Sadly, it just doesn't feel the thirst for more KOTOR. It just isn't the same without the force powers, or without Carth or Bastila.. Or even the HK-47 killng machine... KOTOR II was ok but lacked the grand story and worst, great characters... The only thing that that gets me excited is the new MMORPG that's coming out next year.... I'm not looking forward to paying a monthly subscription.. I stayed away from wow for that very reason..

But I guess I will have to if I want to get my fix.

The only other game I plan on playing on the pc will be Mass effect 3. I did like left 4 dead, but didn't play it more than 15 hours. I guess I will go back when I get 3d and try it out... It will give me something to do...

There needs to be some more games coming out for the PC.. I used to get all excited for new games... Now very few excite me and make me want to go out and buy them.

I just received another email from nvidia this is what they said....

Hello (my name),

Thank you for your interest and update but we would not be able to comment on a setup that you currently not have and since these games are tested with the cards recommended for the games itself

I recommend you to contact us after you have received and installed the complete kit and let us know if you have any concerns to help us analyze and assist you further

Looking forward to your update

Can you believe them..... I know they must have read these threads.... I get the system in later today.. The first thing I'm going to do is try KOTOR and contact them back again... I have half a mind to send the entire thing back before even opening it thanks to this letter..

No where did they talk about updating the outdated list, like I asked about, or opengl game support. They didn't even acknowledge these two forum threads that I linked to... I just send them another email...

I thought Nvidia was better than this.....

I have a 2 year old computer running an nvidia gtx 280.. I am upgrading in the spring... I was going to upgrade to the gtx 580 or 590 if it is out... But I am not sure if I will now.. I might just go with ATI how I'm feeling right now.

That's seriously pathetic. NVIDIA customer care doesn't even know that 3D Vision works only with DirectX 9+???

He's just not pushing the right buttons to get escallated.
Tell them you have it and it doesn't work despite being on the list.

You'll get a canned response, play the game for 2 or three emails, and they might escalate.
Threaten to go to the Better Business Beureau, it'll get magically escalated and NVidia will apologize and suddenly fix the list.
If you go look at the 17+ page thread about WOW being broken for 6+ months worth of drivers, it dragged on and on, finally someone contacted the BBB accusing NVidia of false advertising, they contacted NVidia, NVidia immediately pulled WOW's excellent status from the web page and it was fixed inside 3 weeks.

Maybe I'm just cynical and it's a coincidence .

Oh great. How many games are we going to have to complain about before they finally take the time to fix the whole list?

Honestly, if it were me in charge, I wouldn't even try to cover that many games. Even if they've got racks of PCs (or servers full of virtual machines) with these games already installed on them, testing would have to take at least five minutes each and there are roughly 1500 games on that list! It would take a tester a full month to get that all tested! Then you've got to do it again for 3D Vision Pro? And maybe again for the folks still using the old system?? You're pretty much talking about dedicating a tester full time to this list.

Maybe they need to do this differently.

They are Nvidia... Gaming is their business.... Their livelyhood.. Why wouldn't they have a dedicated team to test games with there products, expectually if they are going to have a public list of compatiable games on their website???

BTW, I got my system in.. Can't play KOTOR.. I give up trying to talk to them even though they said they would put my through to lvl 2 tech support.... Wouldn't do any good.

I did play Batman Arkham Asylum and it did look pretty amazing..

I also tested it with Mass Effect 2 and found the 3d to be horrible.. I couldn't even play it with that game because it made the game look so bad...

Portal wasn't that good either..

I didn't really like left 4 dead either but didn't play it long enough to really tell.....

So so far, the only game that I tested that looks good with the 3d vision is the game that was actually built to work with the 3d vision....

Currently running a gtx 280. and a Q9300 cpu, 6 gb of ddr3 ram... Plan to uprade in the early next year.. Trying to wait a little longer as I am not really having any problems playing games, but would love to play Crysis 2 when it comes out.

Lately, I'm not so sure. They seem at least as interested in using their graphics card CUDA power in massively parallel applications. Look how long it took them to get DirectX 11 support.

What's wrong with Portal in S3D? I just tried it and it looks great to me. Have you fiddled with the depth settings yet?

I didn't play portal for more than 1 stage... I will go back and retest everything later.. I had a lot of double images unless depth was set really low...
This is probably not a problem with the game.. I do have a lazy eye, so it is a little harder for me to see 3d... Luckily, Batman showed me what 3d vision can do so I am compelled to keep the monitor and glasses and see what comes out for it in the future.....
"prays The Old Republic will support 3d"

I just hope that more than a handful of games will be "3d ready" in the near future.

Hehe, a lot of people are praying with ya.

I would be surprised if lazy eye was causing a double image. There shouldn't be two images for either eye to see if the system is working right. Maybe you have the HDR lighting still turned on - that would produce double objects.

Well, stick with Batman. Maybe check out the screenshots topic here or on some of the web sites, too. It takes awhile to get used to the S3D then it takes awhile longer to get the hang of what problems cause what effects on screen.

Well, I changed the setting in portal.. It did help a lot... I am still upset at no KOTOR support... However, I just discovered something that made my purchase of a new monitor and 3d vision worth it... 3d porn.. /biggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> Oh ya /clap.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> !! /rofl.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Ok, now that's funny!

I've commented in just about every thread I could find regarding Nvidia's list and lack of opengl support (and that prior to the "new" shutterglasses)thier old drivers supported this tech in 3d. It appears they just forgot how to do it.

Or that they ever could do it. Or that they could reply to these threads. Good times.
