We had a few threads going on their forum, this being one (http://forums.eidosgames.com/showthread.php?p=1900683) but as usual they don't/didn't get any attention from devs ... or anyone else for that matter ...

Quote from pcgameshardware online (german) google translation: "Stephane Roy (Producer): Without going into detail now about exactly, has our PC version here some features such as support for AMD's Mantle and True Audio, the multi-monitoring technology for up to five screens, a native 4K resolution, adjustable FOV, the ability to change the mouse sensitivity, 3D stereoscopy with both Nvidia and AMD hardware and much more." Sounds like good news!

I'd almost be scared they were using some fake 3D, but Square has been pretty darn good in this department. So definite reason for optimism. Here's hoping it comes close to Tomb Raider in that department (and not Deus Ex).

Thanks for the info, 2eyed. Sounds a little too good to be true, already Mantle support, and native 4k (not to mention the all-exotic ability to change mouse sensitivity lol). Also, when developers say a game works in 3D, who the heck knows what they mean? By that standard, all games work in 3D. But let's just hope, it's not too long now. Already this game has few chances to live up to it's predecesor's expectations, but if at least it would be a joyful ride in glorious 3D...

TBH, I am nervous about claim for 3D support. I know we gave a lot of good feedback with Tomb Raider which may of helped. But I dunno it feels odd, eidos/square enix have been supporting 3D which is just super odd since AMD flat out said they are done with 3D. UE3 supporting 3D for AMD means renderer, which would also be a first for UE3. Then again its got a lot of firsts like mantle.... I just hope its not misinformation cause it does sound odd to me. Like a lot of work had to go into it. Though if I were to take any dev's word for it on 3D support it would be a squareenix developer. Which is kind of funny since Nvidia has trouble enough having a developer add 3d support into one game let alone muliple titles.

Fantastic news to hear about 3d support, if indeed it works properly, This is the kind of game I'll wait to play in VR if Tridef supports it. This kind of slow gameplay and great atmoshphere should work great with the oculus.

"the ability to change the mouse sensitivity"! Omfg! Sold! ... Oh wait, I don't even use one of those ... Oh well I suppose I could take a leap of faith and preorder it for the 3D that might be something I'm interested in. :) (GMG for $32ish after 30% off code DE1PDN-CS6BOF-PR9AVM)

Somehow I believe that it will be Fake3D as the only option on the menu. The Thief series happen to be my favorite PC game franchise when it was developed by Looking Glass. For whatever reason at that time of my gaming years, nothing hooked me to a game like the Thief series did. It's compelling to me that I still have this opinion to this day considering how flawed those games are by comparison of current games. I am cautiously optimistic about this new Thief title, but I hope there is true 3D Vision support. I agree that this game would be the ultimate well paced thinking mans game for VR. Step in the shoes of a Master Thief, how cunningly awesome. I will wait until it's been out for awhile and gauge the consumer reception before I plunge. Here is to my fingers triple crossed!

I doubt its depth buffer/fake 3d tbh. I can't imagine them going modifying UE3 to add in depth buffer renderer. Especially since the track record for the "square-enix developers" adding in normal/geometry 3d. Its something we have to wait and see but Im more worried its going to have "issues". We are all hoping tomb raider but Deus Ex, sleeping dogs, hitman had issues.

Your point about depth/buffer fake 3D is well taken and I agree the 3D issues will not be related to that. Nvidia's implementation or profile (assuming they will have one) for their 3D support will be likely akin to a fake3d or lack of depth/convergence. I suppose the profile can be removed in Nvidia inspector. I do agree though that the problems will be shader related. I have to admit the Tomb Raider works quite well in 3D and some of the other titles you mentioned, although not great for 3D, are certainly better than Crysis Fake3D. Squeenix seem to be the better publisher out of the bunch when it comes to 3D implementation. We''ll have to wait and see I suppose...

From same interview with Stephane Roy as above: "the PC version of Thief 4 is developed in close cooperation with the developers from Nixxes, the same people with whom we already have cooperated in Deus Ex: Human Revolution."(google translation) I hope they have learned a bit since then ;)

Nixxes also worked with them on Tomb Raider though. Of course, they also did Hitman Absolution, so who knows.

Should we install the new driver (334.89) for this game or stay with 332.21?

Driver version matters very little unless running SLI ussually. Though tbh if I were to be playing a "graphical/performance heavy game" I'd not risk it and go newest update. Driver updates tend to focus on games in immediate future/present [though thats a whole different ball park on older titles]
