No it isn't.
The minimum that you can get by with todays games is GTS250 SLI or possibly GTX260. GTX260 will run Metro 2033, Resident Evil 5, Batman Arkham Asylum...etc... at medium settings and 720p ~30 frames per second (per eye). And those are the games you want 3D vision for.
If your CPU is good enough is another question you should ask... :)

2x gts250 is much faster than a gtx285. At 600mhz,2x g92 is faster than a gtx280.... I clock gts250 sli at 800mhz... These old chips have brutal texture perfomance. Metro is flawless in 720p high!

Agreed. However a single GTS250 isn't good enough to run 3D vision alone. So GTS250 SLI is a pretty cheap solution to get decent 3D vision performance...

I have a hard time keeping 20 frames per second per eye in Crysis Warhead maxed out using overclocked GTX260 SLI with 3D vision. Granted I am running it at 1766x992 and not 720p but I really doubt GTS250 can do any better even at lower resolution.
Metro 2033, Gears of War, Just Cause 2...all dip under 30 frames per second when everything is turned maxed out. Anything sub 30 is considered unplayable to me.
GTS250 sli is a great budget solution but I wouldn't expect it to be able to run many of the newer and upcoming games maxed out at any resolution at a stable frame rate.
