Ys: Memories of Celceta
Reserving the OP. I'm already fixing this. It just needed StereoTextureEnable at 0x00000027 and one TextureOverride section to fix shadows per setting. However, shadows on High (the setting between Middle and Ultra) uses the same render target as the global scene, so I can't fix it that way. I can fix it in the shaders, I guess, if I detect the render target resolution to not break the other settings... just rambling to myself to not forget about this tomorrow. I have to decide which method I prefer. Other extras are HUD depth, HUD toggle and black bars toggle. The game has a lot of settings that can be changed in the ingame menu, not only in the launcher, so for example a bloom toggle loses its purpose... Oh, and I recommend using Special K to generate mipmaps. Environment textures don't have mipmaps in this game so this helps a lot.

I've noticed you picking up the game on GOG so I did too, hoping you'd find a way to activate 3D. Thanks for dropping that hint about setting StereoTextureEnable to 0x00000027. It's pretty much perfect after deactivating shadows. I almost couldn't put it down, cause combat/gameplay is addictive af. Just planned to check out the quality of the port and 3D visuals but got hooked for 4 hours... Looking forward to what extras you'll come up with :)

I'll publish a fix today, just wait for it. Maybe the final version or maybe not. There is just some minimap stuff that I have to figure out, but the rest is completely fixed.

Aaaand I got it! Minimap fixed, haha. Just one more hour to test at other resolutions to see if I screwed up with my calculations. Once done that, the fix may deserve to be posted on the blog already :).

Here it is: https://s3.amazonaws.com/masterotaku/Ys+Memories+of+Celceta/Ys_Memories_of_Celceta_3D_Vision_fix.7z Before doing the blog post, I'll give it some time tomorrow for more testing. There's currently a game bug that doesn't let you truly choose your fullscreen resolution. It will use the highest it can find. The workaround is the F7 hotkey + borderless fullscreen + using the resolution you want at the desktop. Hotkeys: - F1: convergence presets. - F2: HUD depth presets. - F3: HUD toggle. - F4: cutscene black bars toggle. It can also disable the black rectangle when you obtain items from enemies or farming spots. - F5: bloom / HDR toggle. It's just a quick hotkey that does the same as going into the options to disable it. - F7: force fullscreen when you are in borderless fullscreen mode. I couldn't give the HUD dynamic depth, at least for now. It's part of my experiments for tomorrow. I recommend using Special K with the "GenerateMipmaps=true" option. It will improve texture quality. BUT (huge but), any change to convergence or separation will break stereo adjustments for all shaders, monoizing them. That means no HUD depth, and broken shadows (I fixed them in shaders in the end). Doing a whole game run with "GenerateMipmaps=true" and then setting it to "GenerateMipmaps=false" will make those sep/conv adjustments work and it will still load your generated mipmaps. If you want a different default convergence than 4.0, you can change it in d3dx.ini. Under "StereoTextureEnable = 0x00000027", write "StereoConvergence = 6.0" or whatever. I suspect my minimap fix won't apply to 7680x4320 because I think I would need to get a new hash from a render target, but I can't test this resolution. Every 16:9 resolution up to 5120x2880 should be OK. It's what I tested. I'll be playing the game. If anything else pops up, I'll update the fix.

Hello! Sorry about derailing tread, but I want to try to jump in JRPG train :) This decision to try is because I really liked Bayonetta with 3d fix from masterotaku :) Which game will be the best candidate for this purpose.

Just in time to try the Ys games, then: https://www.gog.com/promo/20180725_japanese_midweek Ys games are action JRPGs, and the Trails in the Sky / Trails of Cold Steel games are turn based JRPGs. I recommend both of them. If you're starting with Ys, these can be good starting points: https://www.gog.com/game/ys_i_ii_chronicles https://www.gog.com/game/ys_the_oath_in_felghana https://www.gog.com/game/ys_origin Ys I & II Chronicles have a different attacking mechanic and are 2D games. All the other Ys that I didn't mention are very good too.

Hi there, Skawen Considering you liked Bayonetta, you're probably after something similar, so Ys VIII (don't worry, it's been patched by now) is a great recommendation. I always compare the gameplay of the Ys games to Zelda, but with speed and fun cranked up to 11. You can jump in at any point of the series, as each game is just an independent tale of the main character's adventures on different continents of the same world. I wouldn't start with Ys 1 & 2 though because, as masterotaku mentioned above, its combat system is rather outdated. Finding an entry point for the Trails series is trickier, but in case you prefer modern graphics, you should start with Trails of Cold Steel. If you appreciate old-school JRPGs such as Lunar the Silver Star, definitely go for Trails in the Sky first. Basically, the 2 series are completely different genres - Action-RPG (Ys) and Turn-based RPG (Trails), but both are absolutely amazing.

I have just updated the fix (same link). The difference is how I disable HDR/bloom with the F5 hotkey (skipping the shader in d3dx.ini under a condition instead of using a condition inside the shader). Now you get the same performance as if you disable it in the options, instead of being somewhere in the middle.
Thank You both! I think I will try Ys VIII, because I liked last Zelda a lot too :)
People say it's great. The only problem is that there isn't a fix yet (I'll do it eventually, when the game is cheaper). Gryzor_ fixed water, IIRC. I have updated the Celceta fix again. HUD depth was affecting the whole screen when diving. Not anymore.

Delaying the blog post until I finished the game was the right decision. There was a new shadows shader right before the end of the game. I have updated the fix (same link) for the last time, with this shadows fix and other things (blizzard and sun effects at some depth decided by me), one more F5 preset that disables some extra brightness, and F6 for tilted HUD presets. The blog post will be done in less than an hour, with recommended settings about the game, RTSS and Special K. Edit: blog post done. Edit 2: I may upload a mipmaps texture pack in the future (it may be aroun 400MB compressed), to make it easier for everyone playing in 3D. But I should do a second playthrough first, to see the textures of all weapons in the game.
