The Witcher 2 in 3D Vision Official thread from NVIDIA
  14 / 82
Looking at the previous release pattern, they released the WHQL driver less than 3 weeks after the beta one, which seems a very reasonable production delay to me.
Hell, i've been waiting for this game for years now, i can wait one or two more weeks to enjoy it in its full 3D splendor!

@Jereguy: Your complaint lets me believe that you have little understanding of a game (or a driver for that matter) production chain.
Yes, there has been a beta test. During which CDRP made changes to their engine, resulting in driver work, et caetera. As Helifax said, producing a driver, even a beta one, requires time (you could put as much manpower on it as you wish, this is not parallel computing, it would still require time) and Nvidia proved they could work quite fast : less than two weeks between the game going gold and the first beta driver, and then maybe two more weeks to WHQL. This is fast, industry-wise. Believe me, I know what i'm talking about.

Best regards.

I'm sorry but there is no excusing Nvidia. It is their job to keep the drivers up-to-date and know about all of the upcoming changes. I don't care if it is an "INSANE" job, that's the business they're in and that's what they get paid to do. It isn't like this game didn't have a closed Beta, like every other game. It's just slack on Nvidia's part.
I hope they resolve this issue soon, because taking weeks to fix something isn't acceptable.
Our money doesn't pay for us to be patient. It pays for us to recieve non lackluster services.
Bugging them doesn't make them solve thigns faster no. But, we sure would like an update or an ETA on how long we'll have to shelf a brand new game for, thanks to terrible quality control.
[/quote]

I agree 100 percent. I want an ETA .. days? weeks? months??

The thing i dont understand, is that Nvidia says that they where working close with CD-Project, to get the best 3D gaming experience ?

They must have testet the game in 3D and they must have been aware, that it didnt run well in 3D ?

So why not just say : Hey listen all ... TW2 will not be 3D ready but we are working on a fix so please be patient ... Instead they say NOTHING and people are left in the dark ...

We support Nvidia and buy the hardware ? The least they can do is to be honest ...

Just my 5 cent´s /w00twave.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':w00twave:' />

What your all complaining about...?

It's WORKS...it just has one little fault,it's slow inside some rooms ,that's it...!
On high setting I got a framerate of 25-38 fps...and 3d is perfect...

Every game has problems,so does this...

Yep. They should better tell us the ETA, cause I'm a little tired checking for updates four times a day. (

If you are experiencing FPS issues list your GeForce card, I think 500 series of cards have real poor performance for all Directx 9 games not just Witcher. Let me know what ya think?

I have 2xGTX570s

Actually that's not true. They have already acknowledged the issue and have said that they are working on a fix so we are not left in the dark. They can either choose to come on here every day and repeat the same thing "we are working on the fix" or they can just work on the fix and come on here to tell us that it is ready. Either method won't change a thing in terms of when we will get the fix. Both situations require patience and there is no way around that. I want the fix as bad as anyone but considering the fact that they are already working on the fix, whining about getting an update on the status of the update won't change a thing. In the mean time I'm enjoying the game in 3d in the outside areas right now and changing over to 2D if I find myself in a large interior area (which I havne't had to do yet in Chapter 1. I only did it in the prologue so far). Just so you know you don't have to actually uninstall the 3d drivers to get the improved interior perfomance. You only have to disable 3d in the Nvidia control panel and go in to task manager and stop service on the stereoscopic process.

I wanted to confirm I was getting between two to five frames per second in some areas and cutscenes, no matter WHAT settings I ran. It was only using a fraction of my GPU according to usage graphs, so I knew there was a problem.

After reading threads online, I removed the 3D Vision programs / drivers from the Add/Remove Programs app in the control panel, and now I can play The Witcher 2 MAXED OUT at 1920x1080 at full vsync fps.

IF YOU ARE GETTING INCREDIBLY LOW FPS WITH A VERY HIGH-END CARD, REMOVE 3D VISION DRIVERS VIA CONTROL PANEL'S ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS, AND RESTART.

HOW could this POSSIBLY happen!?

Well, speaking as a developer that has managed to make this kind of thing happen a few times, I can think of two big ones...

1. A last minute change to fix some nasty bug unexpectedly caused the issue. It was pretty obvious to everyone involved (could have been the driver or the software side) that this change would not affect anything else... except it did.

2. An accidental change where the developers don't send out the code they thought they sent out. Typically this happens when the wrong set of code is compiled though it can also happen if one of the developers puts the wrong code in the wrong place (like putting next month's fix in this month's code base).

These can all be caught by doing more testing and code review. The thing is, more testing means more time and money, which means you'll need to charge more. If you are writing software where bugs could cause a building to fall down or a patient get the wrong medication and die, you do that testing and you charge for it. These are just games, though, which is about as non-critical as it gets. Better to do less testing and keep the products cheaper.

I am gonna assume people like Gamerrangerx and co don't have 3d vision so they are glad to be able to do a temp fix and get the game going. Personally I am very annoyed and won't play Witcher until a proper driver is released.

Nvidia whats an ETA for these drivers,,,,, we talking days, weeks, months and are they gonna work!!!!

i have 3D Vision,i play batman i try to play witcher2 with it slowdown as hell,BUT STILL A GOOD GAME WITHOUT 3D
and again i love NVDIA AND CDProjekt for creating Such a wonderful game...".

Damn, im getting Deja vu feelings.. guess i have to wait for that patch then, really wanted to play this game now, hope it dont take longer then a week..will have to go back and play La Noire in the meantime.
By the way, i removed the 3D vision drivers as others do and got a real kick in the FPS, still it is not as high as i thought, i have around 25-30 fps with my 4 core processor and 2 geforce 460 SLI cards, is that normal?

Also, is there any way to turn of the "floating" subtitles above characters heads? I like subtitles in the main conversations, but its so ugly with that text distracting from the rest of the gorgeous graphics.

I used to get near constant 60 fps with my single Gainward GTX 460 GS with everything maxed out in 2D at 1080p except ubersampling and antialiasing. So i would believe there is either a problem with your setup, or you forgot to disable ubersampling.

FYI, the game works flawlessly with these settings in 3D on a single GTX 570 (in non-buggy areas such as the tavern in chapter one, of course). So your dual 460 shouldn't have trouble handling the game maxed out.
