The Witcher 2 in 3D Vision Official thread from NVIDIA
25 / 82
Well, now that we have CLEARLY confirmed that the game will NOT be patched for 3D Vision in any possible way, could someone from nVidia at least contact the developers to have that "3D Vision Ready" label removed from the boxes? Even an official statement on their site would be great.
Ok, we've been scammed and there's no going back, but it should be made possible for future buyers to understand that the game is NOT, I repeat, NOT 3D Vision read.
p.s.: now, please don't give me that crap about the game working on 3D Vision, albeit with abysmal fps. Every single game released in the last years IS 3D compatible. Hell, even C&C generals, which isn't even listed among the rated games runs better than this mess. RUSE is a joke in 3D Vision, with its shadows all wrongly rendered, but it IS running in 3D. On the other hand, Maniac Mansion is NOT 3D Ready since it doesn't absolutely work with 3D Vision.
Do you see where I'm heading to?
Either you label every. single. game. as 3D Vision ready or Not 3D Vision Ready, clearly stating it on the box, or you drop the label in favor of those few games that are really outstanding with 3D glasses. Scams like this should NOT be allowed to exist, and letting them be only ensures that in the future more and more frauds will come up "because last time it was accepted".

Well i wont go as far as saying this was a scam but this was clearly a MASSIVE FAIL for both nVidia and ther developer. I waited a few days for a driver to be released that fix the problem. It didnt, so started playing in 2D.
Yet once again, i am disappointed with the 3D Vision support from nVidia.

The 3D FPS issue appears to be related to the number of light sources near the player. If you go to the Visionary's House in act 2 (in the north east corner of the map), he has a large number of lit candles outside his house. When I position the camera outside his house in such a way that all candles are visible, the FPS drop almost as low as inside the inn in act 1. And that is outside.
I opened a support ticket with CDPR on this matter shortly after the game was released, and posted a query on their news page, but I haven't heard anything from them yet. It will be a good idea for CDPR to take this matter seriously. Selling an item with an advertised functionality that is missing, is illegal in most parts of the world (the NVIDIA 3D Vision Ready logo on the box). At the very least, anyone buying TW2 with intent to play it using NVIDIA 3D Vision is entitled to a full, unconditional refund of the game, according to common consumer protection laws.
If you cannot get playable performance in 3D Vision while meeting the recommended hardware requirement on the box, the game is, from a legal standpoint, not functioning as advertised. And 5 FPS which I'm getting in some areas of the game is not playable performance. You simply cannot play the game as intended at 5 FPS. Amongst other things, using the combat system at 5 FPS is not possible.
P.S.
Could we please keep all 3D Vision related discussion of TW2 in this thread (perhaps merge the others into this one)?

A patch and two different driver realeases did nothing to solve the problem.
From what can be read in the other page of this thread, the problem is related to the developer's poor coding, which means that nVidia can do nothing about it.
The game has been out for 2 weeks, and its own developers didn't care to release a working patch for one of its main features, so important to be even advertised on the box. Either the problem is so nested in the code that it needs some major reworking (that would take months or is simply unfeasible), or they just don't care since 3D Vision users aren't really what you would call an immense userbase.
EDIT: also, lol @ the official "The Witcher 2"'s forum being unavailable /rolleyes.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Yes i also wonder what did you get this from? Have they said they wont fix it?
By the way, with this new driver and patch, is it possible to switch 3d vision on and off and gaining the lost fps when its off? In that case i could play it with 3d vision when the fps is above 20 and switch it off when indoors... annyoing but i really want to play this game soon..

They haven't...but sometimes silence is an answer too... After 2 weeks of release time....."you advertise a car that it can reach 100MPH in 3 seconds which clearly it doesn't and you don't do anything about it"....it clearly states that IT CAN'T and WON'T be fixed ... this is the case with the game too....
You advertise it as 3D Vision Ready yet you don't do anything to actually work in 3D => it won't be fixed. I haven't seen a company before to release a piece of code that DOESN'T WORK at all (while being advertised that it does) and not fix it in the couple of days after release date ... but HEY!! the CDPRJ guys are on vacation now and we know best they deserve this .....right? It will be the last time I will buy a piece of crap software from unknown developers with high demands that say "we will change the world with ubershi...err sampling and 1000 features"....
Even Arcania: Gothic 4 got 3D support in a month (were was none) and Jowood was bankrupt....... at least they showed some love to buyers and consumers....
I'm so damn fed up with this charade of 3D Vision Ready title...where none exists.....

You cannot....in order to gain the proper fps you have to alt+tab go to nvidia panel and disable 3d vision....but even then the game will use the same APIs which are the fault in the first place. the only possible way is to disable 3D vision PRIOP starting the game and then once you are ingame enable 3D Vision...BUT you will get terrible rendered shadows (that cannot be disabled)...
so you have to choose:
10 fps but everything looks as it should (awesome)
or
40 fps and you get HORRIBLE shadows....

Even with the new driver, I still have to disable the 3d vision service to get proper FPS. So there is no toggling 3D vision in-game. Even with 2 GTX 570s 3D vision gets like 10FPS, its fine in 2D though once I disable the 3D vision service. This is with everything maxed but ubersampeling at 1080P... /thumbsdown.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
Awesome game, but it would be nice to play in 3D vision!

Manuel said they work together with CDProject Red, so stop the panic. Maybe it takes a lot of time to fix the problem, but I believe Nvidia won't let us down and the problem will be solved. It's really annoying situation but not a reason to lose faith in Nvidia.

No! I haven't lost faith in NVidia.....I am rather skeptical about CDPRJ fixing things..... Remember the 1st Witcher? it was un-playable at first...they had to release the enhanced edition in order to be able to properly play..and even than.... there were bugs....some annoying others not.....
But this is like they sold half the game...for the price of fulll....

I dont know, i dont blame CDPRJ, they are a small team and doing a great game, they did also have good support and feedback for fans and released a patch rather quick. Nvidia is huge and its their logo that sayd "3D Ready", they should be responsible to check if the product they slap that on is supported and also as big as Nvidia is they should be able to put out a fix! The almost non existent feedback or response from them is just terrible, my respect and quality thinking for Nvidia has really gone down thats for sure.

Have you people tried to play the first game. It shows the same issues with light bleeding as Witcher 2, and how many years have passed? :)
If you set the SLI compatability using Nvidia Inspector to 0x0240000D the lighting bleeding through textures issues goes away in the original Witcher.

From what can be read in the other page of this thread, the problem is related to the developer's poor coding, which means that nVidia can do nothing about it.
The game has been out for 2 weeks, and its own developers didn't care to release a working patch for one of its main features, so important to be even advertised on the box. Either the problem is so nested in the code that it needs some major reworking (that would take months or is simply unfeasible), or they just don't care since 3D Vision users aren't really what you would call an immense userbase.
EDIT: also, lol @ the official "The Witcher 2"'s forum being unavailable

They haven't...but sometimes silence is an answer too... After 2 weeks of release time....."you advertise a car that it can reach 100MPH in 3 seconds which clearly it doesn't and you don't do anything about it"....it clearly states that IT CAN'T and WON'T be fixed ... this is the case with the game too....
You advertise it as 3D Vision Ready yet you don't do anything to actually work in 3D => it won't be fixed.

Have you people tried to play the first game. It shows the same issues with light bleeding as Witcher 2, and how many years have passed? :)

If you set the SLI compatability using Nvidia Inspector to 0x0240000D the lighting bleeding through textures issues goes away in the original Witcher.
