this is good news indeed.
at least we r not flying blind now that we know what to expect.
lets give em some time, they ll fix it "when ready" as usuall.
i got my peace of mind reinstated now that i know that i m not doing anything wrong.
please change the compatibility mode to "average" to avoid further missguiding.

Thank you for ur time to share this with us.
Its a matter of time now.

(i m a zalman trimon user not an nvidia 3d vision user, but i have the exact same problem with nvidia's zalman trimon drivers)

Im getting the red 'Warning: attempt to run Stereoscopic in non-stereo display mode' message when trying to run 3D vision. This is the only game that shows the message unfortunately.

Well, I just received today my Alienware AW2310 and 3D Kit. I ordered the kit and the monitor mostly for WOW for the moment, perhaps Dragon Age Origins. First of all, the instructions really are not user friendly. It took me an hour to figure out how to prevent Vista 64from automatically installing driver everyt ime I uninstalled the existing driver. Anyway, back to the thread:

Anyway, after hours of tweaking, I was able to get everything to work very well except for the Map. There is NO SETTING OR TWEAKING that will get your cursor on the right point of the map. I have the bottom slider all the way to the left (not a big deal I guess) with the top slider all the way to the right. The 3D effect is great, I have windows Vista 64, 1920x1080 resolution set, unchecked the glowing effects in game (WOW). If I move the bottom slider at all to the ride, it splits my character into two even if I bring the resolution down. Since the map seems to be the major flaw I am experiencing right now, whenever I need to tweak it I hit the glowing button on the front of the emitter for 2D, close the map and push it again to turn back on the 3D. It goes fast enough, so no huge deal. MY CD is version 1.18, but I downloaded the lastest Mid April Graphics Drivers. After installing that, Windows searched the original CD for the Stereoscopic (or whatever its called) drivers. I was curious why those drivers are not found like the graphics drivers are when you go to the Nvidia Downloads and have it automatically scan your PC. Bad instruction. In fact, even the set-up for the 3D said that all of the drivers are installed, but without the Stereoscopic drivers, the light stays red on the emitter. You would think the set-up would be smart enough to see that.

In Summary, 3D effect is great, WOW Map is horrible without turning off the emitter and then turning it back on when you are done looking at it., curious to know for those who were happy with the very old drivers what effect if any the bottom slider would have if it worked correctly. The 3D seems great without it, at least on my Alienware Monitor. The drop down of the monitor resolutions and the refresh rates seems slightly off as well (they appear a little too far to the left). The only way to have the map display correctly without turning off the emitter is to have both sliders all the way to the left and whats the point of that? Anyway, with the emitter temporary solution, I'll be patient until the Blizzard Patch.

I've had a lot of trouble trying to get WOW to work well in 3D with the current 197.45 drivers, lots of flicker (very hard on the eyes), cool downs not aligned with spell buttons, map and other windows with different focal points for background, text, pointers, etc. The problem gets much worse if I use any screen or depth affect settings above minimum.

Tried all the fixes suggested with changing settings, SLi, no-SLi, single GPU, forced frame rendering 1 & 2, minimum ingame graphics settings. Nothing fixes the problems using the current driver.

The fix suggested by someone, by going back to last years 190.62 driver, sort of works. No flicker, cool downs in the right place, but in focus a bit distorted towards the edges and around open windows. Not the perfect solution. I'm giving up trying to play WOW in 3D, maybe the next driver update will fix it.

Hopefully someone at Nvidia is looking into this and trying to fix it, lucky there are still a lot of other games that work in 3D.

... the client was somewhat readily "available" for a small window of about 30 hours. It may still be if you know where to look.

In that build; the convergence setting is still bumized but for example I can only move it about 1/3 as far as I can in live builds before until it becomes unreadable. However the loading screens & map are readable, but popped out at convergence settings roughly equal to what I'd play with today.

Also, the addon fix posted a few pages back DOES work quite well. If you have a pretty fast machine (which I imagine most people w/ 3DVision would) there isn't a problem. I only log on to raid a few times a week right now, and I can raid just fine using that addon bandaid fix. Just change the convergence to whatever you want, and you can even change the frequency to .5 sec if you really need to.

With the v1.11 of the drivers both the sliders in WoW work great. You can get amazing depth ending up with a mind blowing 3D effect. You can still sort of get this effect with the newer drives but convergence for drop down menus and the maps makes them unusable. In addition the new drivers introduce problems with alt+tab and the cursor.

I've opted to keep using v1.11 of the drivers - I just make real sure I don't press the button on the emitter. Doing that on Windows 7 with one of the latest video cards will give you a quick Blue Screen of Death. Other than that and having to ignore window's barking at me to update the video card drivers I get to experience the full WoW 3D effect.

It is annoying, and very frustrating to have to deal with that - not what was advertised or is currently advertised by nVidia but my hands are tied until they put some action behind their words. The latest post from support has my hopes up - but it could be another year before they do anything.

Can you email me those drivers :-). Maybe they are not compatible with the GTX 280 or with the Alienware Monitor? :-0. Actually Ive now been testing for another night and my problems are as follows:
1) Map is unusable on any resolution unless you keep both sliders all the way to the left (at just about zero). Only solution is turn off the emitter or Control T which I remapped to * :-) lol
2) Cool downs for your abilities are not showing on the action bar
3) Sometimes the last line in the chat box goes out of focus, while the rest of the chat box doesnt. Sometimes this happens to the quest dialogue too.
4) When comparing items to what you have on, any movement of the slider moves the stats out of the view of both eyes, so you can only see them with one eye closed.
5) Many drop down boxes are out of sync
6) Bottom slider is useless

Very disappointed since I just bought this and the monitor for wow. Not sure if I should be reporting Nvidia to the BBB, Dell who I bought it from, or Blizzard. This is FAR FROM the excellent rating. I would say fair to good due to all these workarounds you have to do, but if you are just running around the game to see the 3D it is VERY VERY good even if it is not functioning to whatever the old drivers do. Looking forward to some sort of solution here.

They don't work with the AW monitor sadly.

BUT, if you try the addon fix posted a few pages ago you'll be up and running for the most part until this is resolved. The only thing that will still melt your visual cortex into goo is the loading screens.

Nvidia, It's time for an update so some of us who just purchased a new monitor with the kit can decide within our return policy if we should return the product to companies like Dell. You should have enough influence with Blizzard to get a more accurate update as to what is going on. The price we paid is not worth what is far from an excellent experience as advertised and passing the ball to Blizzard and washing your hands clean is not an acceptable response.

i managed to get a full refund for my 3d solutions.
i dragged my system to the pc-shop and i show him "only" the wow error effect.
the assistant was ignorant of the situation and accepted it as defected.
he offered a replacement but i insisted to get my money back, and worked out ok.
i was just lucky on this, i shouldn’t have done this but since i didn’t get what i paid for, i believe i have every right to do so.
i used the store's return policy instead of nvidia warranty policy to ease things.
i was forced to say a lie because nvidia gave me no real options on this matter.
maybe i ll retry some other time later on, when the drivers "mature" enough to do what they r suppose to do.

oh well, i wish u all guys good luck with this, i ll check back later on to see where we stand on this matter.
i also advised other potential customers n friends of mine to avoid nvidia for a while, lets wait till we get a mature response and for the prices to drop.

i cant really be blamed for false advertisement or calumniation as the only thing i did was to state the facts (facts I see on nvidia’s official forum to be honest, not imaginary). nvidia didn’t reply with an update of driver fix for more than a month till the time i dragged my pc to the store, and the fact that they accepted it back clearly clarifies that something was wrong on their end, not mine.

i felt responsible to protect potential customers n friends from this discomfort.

i cant really be blamed for false advertisement or calumniation as the only thing i did was to state the facts (facts I see on nvidia’s official forum to be honest, not imaginary). nvidia didn’t reply with an update of driver fix for more than a month till the time i dragged my pc to the store, and the fact that they accepted it back clearly clarifies that something was wrong on their end, not mine.

i felt responsible to protect potential customers n friends from this discomfort.

Today I did the right thing and updated my drivers. Of course they now don't work with WoW. But as I am only using SLI 275s I can roll-back to get WoW working again.

I have been a nVidia buyer for many years, but recent develpments have persuaded me to decide to give nVidia a wide berth until the quality of both their products, and most importantly, their service improves.

This WoW debacle is the final straw for me.

After months of complaints we received a second-hand reply from nVidia, via a user, (still) promising a fix sometime in the future ...

To quote the great tennis player, John mcEnroe :

"ARE YOU SERIOUS ?!?!"

As I have given up on nVidia, it seems nVidia has given up on PC gamers.

I called Nvidia tech support and updated my drivers with a link they sent me. What was funny was that they acted oblivious to what is going on in this forum. They said it works fine on their Samsung Monitor (though I have an Alienware). During my lunch break, I ran home and tried and everything works fine as long as you keep both 3D sliders in WOW all the way to the left, which basically means little to no real 3D effect. As soon as you move the slider (screen or 3D depth), various elements of the User Interface become unusable (map, cool downs on the action buttons, drop down menus, splitting of your character into 2, etc.

Now they want me to uninstall WOW and reinstall it. Hmmm, that will only take 4 hours since I have the original CDs back from 6 years ago lol. Then they will try to trouble shoot further if that doesn't work. Blizzard is ignoring my forum tech support request, locking it the first time because I didn't follow forum etiquette and put capital letters in my title. They are something else. I reopened the thread and all I got was some snide remark from someone who did a HAHA for spending so much money while he used blue and red glasses. Anyway, I only have until next Friday to try these troubleshooting tips without loosing my return window to send back the products. Has anyone tried reinstalling all of WOW to see if that changed anything????
