Wolfenstien What the hell is going on ?
  1 / 2
Purchased Wolfenstien for Pc and loaded it up only to discover it's absolutely dreadful with 3d vision.

What the hay ?

Anyone else have this game yet ?

Nvidia, we need new drivers with default separation and convergence settings.

Come on, as if it's that hard. Show us how smart you are.

I'm amazed it even allows separation. The engine was designed around opengl, so they must have some crapty ass console-optimized directx renderer added on top.

There is similar weird "shadow" around objects, much like the one in Prototype, before the game got a profile in the drivers. So this gave the idea to "borrow" the profile for Prototype and try it with Wolfenstein. Renaming Wolf2.exe to prototypef.exe did help a bit, and after that playing with convergence too, but still the game does not look good in S3D. Unfortunately playing with detail levels and effects also did not help much in improving the situation...

Bloody, I freaking love you man. Keep posting and do experimental field work =) You're one in a million. I was sure looking towards Wolfenstein too but apparently I'll have to stick with Tomb Raider. A real shame only old school releases work with Nvidias 3D vision. I didn't even like that Resident Evil demo. It seems to be far into the future one will enjoy high quality 3D games and high quality 3D movies with Nvidia vision, not at all what all the papers said and why I bought the gear from the first place.

Well, yeah the game is just a blurry mess with 3d vision enabled. It's hard to explain, but it's like certain objects
are rendered on the wrong plane..would be how I would describe it.

The lights also look really weird, and for now I've opted for playing this game at 1920x1080 with no 3d until it's fixed..

I have yet to try it on my Iz3d monitor. I didn't even want to but, in order to check out the 3d proper I might have to.

But like seriously, I don't understand why Nvidia doesn't just grab a hold of games like this before release
and make what you would think would be a simple profile, easy beans for a large multinational corporation like Nvidia.

I was just looking trough some Stereo 3D screenshots I took in Wolfenstein and noticed something weird... each of the two images (for left and for right eye) has double rendered objects - the ones that are closer to you, in the depth everything seems to be Ok. And this is most likely the cause that is making the game not give good results when used with 3D Vision (the weird "shadow" around objects)... is it like having four instead of just two different frames.

Here are some screenshots I took so that you can see what the double image looks like: wolfenstein-s3d-screenshots.zip

Rename the JPS files to JPG and open them with a normal image viewer, one of the screenshots is without profile loaded and the other one is with Prototype's profile... you can notice the difference with the smoke in the back of the plane, but still closer objects are doubled on both.

That's exactly what it seems like. Yes, good way of describing it..

Here's hoping a driver update will fix it, since it's sorta working in 3d already.

I see what you mean. That would bug the Hell out of me. Hopefully Nvidia release an updated driver soon. We must be due shortly.

That's good news !! The funny thing is, it's laughable and really makes Nvidia look bad that
these things aren't ready to go at launch.

What does coming soon mean? a week, or a month or two? I really want to play Wolfenstein but the 3D is pretty much broken. Even if you converge it perfectly you sill get a dark double shadow around objects.

What that they can't do the game devs jobs for them?

Nvidia can only work with those devs that choose to work with them.
