Just saw this on Steam today, out Sep 4th. Indie survival horror, DX9 (so hope for fix if it does not work). I like the sound of it, but have not heard anything about it until just now. Anyone else familiar with it's lineage? I like the following quote on the Steam page:
"Warning:
Outlast contains intense violence, gore, graphic sexual content, and strong language. Please enjoy."
That's the kind of warning that makes me buy a game.

Saw this a while ago. Looks interesting.

Ive been looking at this title from very first presentation. It reminds me of some good times with Condemned game.
We all have to take a look at this title because it is first Unreal Engine 4 ! game so we all gonna see how it works in Stereo3D - which suppose to be one of the standard features of this version.

All relevant info can be found at http://redbarrelsgames.com/ . I have fallen in love with Outlast since I saw it on Gamespy (RIP) a couple of years ago. In spite of no DX11 support, it looks good and its programmers have a solid background (especially the former Naughty Dog one). I also appreciate the fact that they decided to release the PC version before getting dangerously close to sign an exclusive deal with Sony... like thechineseroom did.

I think its UE3[udk prob. since sub 20.00]. I dont think UE4 will use DX9 as its renderer. Its listed on UE3 on wiki.

It's got the usual culprits. The shadows are all screwed up, usual halos and assorted problems in 3D. Looks like it wouldn't be too hard to fix and the 3D would really add to the immersion to this game!
Here's my screenshots to show some of the 3D problems:

Hopefully someone can make a fix...
edited to add: Since this game does not show your hands nor does it use any weapons at all (you can only run, hide or die), one can really crank up the depth and/or convergence to give it a very deep 3D viewing experience.
Prob look at it later today/tomorrow. Thats not a promise or something though. Will have to see how it goes.
Thanks eqzitara, I hope you get a chance to look at it.
I only played the first few minutes and it scared the crap out of me already! Headphones and playing in the dark is a must.
If you can launch 32 bit vers. does it load all the way into game [can move]?
Please do not give advice/whatever if you dont have game legit.
I deleted the 64 bit folder that held all those files and its 64 bit .exe. Then I went to the 32 bit folder and clicked on the 32 bit .exe and the game loaded up fine. Went into the game and plays fine, move around etc. I have legit steam version.

Looking at it now. Seems like it can be worked on. Will take a very long time regardless. Luckily Helixs script can be used to fix shadows, bad news is not much in way of effects so its got to be done by hand. So should play something else for a while and if you didnt buy it yet may want to wait for results.
No problem, will hold off playing.
I did a couple more checks to make sure. For the game to start 32 bit you either have to delete the 64-bit folder or rename that folder. I know cause I put sweetfx in the 32-bit folder (with that 32 bit exe) and with the 64-bit still there or that folder not renamed it automatically started 64-bit and sweetfx would not work.
But, when deleting 64-bit folder or rename the folder then it would start 32-bit exe automatically and then sweetfx worked perfectly in the game. I am correct in that sweetfx does NOT work with 64-bit but only 32-bit correct?
Also, is there a way to insert a command line at the end of the .exe file in the steam properties so as to start the game as 32-bit vice 64-bit?
