Hey experts,
Sorry am a 3D Vision 2 Noob!
I made my Gaming Rig back in 2012 for the purpose of playing in 3D using Nvidea 3D Vision 2!
But for some reason, i did not buy the 3D Vision 2 kit until now!
I have a GTX 670 Graphics card, a BENQ xl2420t 3D Vision monitor.
I will be getting the NVidea 3D Vision 2 Kit next week.
I could not find a blog on the net that would help me setup NVidea 3D Vision 2 on my rig.
I have updated my graphics driver to version 332.21.
This installs NVidea 3D Vision driver too.
Can someone list the steps that i would need to do, once i get the 3D Kit?
Also do you guys recommend this site - Helix Mod (http://helixmod.blogspot.in/2013/07/game-list-full.html)?
Would you guys recommend me to check any patches/mods that are available in the Helix Mod site and apply those to the games, before i start playing in 3D?
Gracias in advance,
KamyFC

Hi Kamy, so far so good.
You've discovered two of the most important things in 3D today:
1. The Helix site (Yeah, unfortunately 3D is broken out of the box most of the time so you definitely need to use the fixes there)
2. Hanging out in this forum
- to add your voice to ours and ask Nvidia to give you the level of support that someone who paid for their hardware deserves
- to interact with these fine people fixing games (Helix, Eqzitara, Mike_ar69, HDR and many others) and encourage them through your appreciation and kind words
The next important thing is:
3. Discover and use the Convergence settings, which Nvidia hides in the addvanced options of the Keyboard shortcuts.(You have to keep the hotkey pressed until you see the changes, and it does not have a "gauge/progress bar", so it takes a little practice) Also their depth default setting is something like 15%, I always use 100% then add convergence to my taste.
Installation-wise, there is not much you need to do. My emitter is incorporated in the monitor, I only had to run the Nvidia setup wizard from the 3D section of the Nvidia Control Panel.
If you use the latest beta drivers, there is also a "fake 3D" mode mostly for DX11 games that cannot yet be fixed by the community (Assassin Creeds 3 - 4, Battlefield 4 etc). Read the active threads here for more details.
And welcome to the club :-)

Hello, and welcome to the club!
Installation is the same for 3D Vision/3D Vision 2 and is pretty straight forward. Basically you plug in the emitter via usb and start the stereo setup wizard in the NVIDIA control panel (after updating to latest drivers).
The full user guide, in PDF, is online here:

CONVERGENCE!! Set up your convergence in your advanced keyboard shortcuts! Sometimes you have to hold the shortcut down in-game to see changes (one game i had to hold for almost 40 seconds!). This is the most important thing. Have fun having your mind blown by true 3d gaming! :)

I have a similar question to caveat.
I have the exact same monitor and was under the impression it, alone, supports 3D Vision 2. I'm having difficulty setting it up in the wizard. All my drivers are up to date, I'm using the correct refresh rate, am using a dual-dvi link cable, and have fully charged the wireless glasses.
Any ideas?

I shall update this thread with my experienced once i get started.
The guide says
"start with the depth at the default of 15%. as you get more comfortable viewing stereoscopic 3D, you can increase the depth amount."
But as per your recommendation, i shall set it to 100%..
Also the kit comes with an Emitter , which has a thumbwheel on the back of the emitter that can be used to increase/decrease depth in a game.. Do you guys increase the depth using this thumbwheel?
Its better to set the Depth to the maximum right? Good 3D is about depth, right? Why bother meddling with that setting!
Setting it to max and forgetting it. Would that work?
Thanx again.

Well, I might be an outlier, but I think you should start at 15% just to see. It's also 'safer' and easier to see what you like. If it all seems fine and you aren't getting any eyestrain or headaches, go ahead and bump it up.
There are a million variables, and people are all different, so the best advice is to do what feels right for you. A lot of us run at 100%, but some don't, and it's really personal preference.
After you get your feet wet, you'll want to play around with convergence too. It's 'advanced', but it has a dramatic effect on games.
You can change with the thumbwheel, or you can use Ctrl-F4 for more, Ctrl-F3 for less. Convergence is holding in green button then thumbwheel, or Ctrl-F6 for more, Ctrl-F5 for less.
Go slow, no rush. But do start with known good games. A lot of stuff is broken, and it's better to see games working properly. Here's a list of our favorite games in order:

Hey guys,
Thanks for the kind words and the link!
I got my 3D vision kit and hooked up the Emitter with the USB and started the Wizard found in the NVidia Control Panel, which detected the BENQ Monitor! Its very easy and straightforward.
I ran the Stereoscopic 3D Test and the words NVidia pops out beautifully! I tested increase in depth, convergence etc!
I was just blow away by the 3D depth. The words come right at you!
Thank you 'bob3' for the list of games.
I have Avatar installed on my PC and i loaded it up!
Pandora in 3D is beautiful! The Jungle, while walking is just so much more alive than in 2D!
Just stunning!
I tried the depth setting. Looks like 15-30% was what i could take. Anymore increase in depth, strained my eye. Is that normal?
But at 30% the depth was good. It did not pop out like the NVidea Sample Graphic.
Also when you shoot, you can actually look at the bullet go by.
Its just stunning!
I could not get Convergence to work, err, i just could not see any difference, even i kept tapping the Increase Convergence key!
Do i keep holding it? I did not try that!!
Ok guys, i shall play Avatar and get back with my experiences!
Thanks again and shall hang out here for more advice and tips!
I hope this was useful for other new comers.

Also guys, after you finish your gaming, do you go to NVidia Control Panel and disable Stereoscopic 3D?
I needed to this as Chrome has a PINK tint ! I disable the 3D and its fine!
I dont know if there could be other issues with Stereoscopic 3D turned on?
Anyway i have disabled the setting once i finish my gaming!
Wonder what you guys do?

That might be one of the bugs that was fixed in the latest driver release.
[Google Chrome][3D Vision]: The browser opens in stereoscopic 3D anaglyph mode.
[1420645]
... there's other ways to disable/enable it, HotKeys/Scripts, there's also shortcuts in the Start Menu ... personally I leave mine enabled all the time.
