Best monitor for 3D: ASUS VG278H or ASUS VG278H ?
Hello, I'm wondering which one of those 2 monitors would provide a better 3D Vision experience. Reading online I can't get to a conclusion... The VG278H have this "3D Lightboost" feature, while the VGE248QE is "3D Vision 2 ready" (the other one isn't according to nVidia site listing) and newer. Anyone have toughs on this? Thansk
Hello,

I'm wondering which one of those 2 monitors would provide a better 3D Vision experience.

Reading online I can't get to a conclusion... The VG278H have this "3D Lightboost" feature, while the VGE248QE is "3D Vision 2 ready" (the other one isn't according to nVidia site listing) and newer.

Anyone have toughs on this?

The VG278H has the advantage of working with HDMI 1.4 content via it's HDMI input because of the internal emitter and software/drivers included by ASUS. (note: early production models of the VG278H did not have this feature) What does this mean? It's means you can connect a PS3 and play 3D games available on that platform. It means that you could use TriDef as an alternative for games that do not work with 3D vision. But only over it's HDMI connection. In reality.... why play with a PS3 when you have a PC. there are only a few games that play better on TriDef than 3D Vision. Fact is, more games play better on 3D Vision(thanks to community patches) than TriDef and is the only reason I stress to my friends to purchase Nvidia over Radeon. 3D via HDMI on the VG278H is not 120 full frames, so it's a benefit, but not that great. I'm much happier with my 27 inch monitor vs my 23. (ASUS VG278HE vs Acer GD235HZ) The only advantages of the VGE248QE are it's Display port connection and smaller size if you have limited space. Both have light boost. EDIT: Also in case you didn't know, the only difference between gen 1 and gen 2 glasses are the newer ones have a longer battery life and larger lenses. Either version will work with a light boost monitor.

.... And the battery life really isn't a big deal. The Gen 1 glasses last around 40 hours in-between recharges, and you can't game that long in one setting without killing yourself.
