Well one thing is for sure, Nvidia isn't selling as many crappy low end GPUs for pre-made desktops or HTPCs as before, since the CPU graphics have become more powerful.
So they have to make up their profits somewhere

I see people are still arguing here... and my 2 UK nationals and friends are fighting each other :(
While I came as a very direct and sometimes forward person (even with the insults and other "heavy words") in the past (and both of them can relate) I PURELY HATE IT, when we have to "fight" here... and I never ever held any grudge against anyone... (After all "friends swear each other, but they still are friends" :) )
We are already a small community and all this in-fight, is bad:(
Prices, corporations, the world even... it is what it is and we can't do anything about it. It is good to vent that frustration somewhere but, at least let's not fight.
The biggest problem is that in the current time, people want MORE (things) for LESS (money). Nvidia and other companies just follows the "trend"... That "extra more" is actually much more "advanced and time consuming" today than it was 5-10 years go... I see it everyday, mostly everywhere...
(Now, everything is based around selling "the next shiny thing" for EXTRA CASH!)
I live in the UK for more than 5 years now and while I am not a "native", I am part of this society and I would feel "alien" to any other. This doesn't mean I agree with all that is happening here or around the world... The "Brexit" thing is a FLOP and someone will benefit from it (not the people obviously)... As a matter of fact, I was born and did most of my education in Eastern Europe (Romania - Yes, I know a lot of "Westerners" think that E-Europe is the absolute "End of world", like they think that everyone in Africa lives in "tents"... No pun intended for anyone.
But things are far from it... We are as smart and educated as any person from the West, East, North or South. In the end, every person decides his/hers own path:) I find this misconception of "geographically locationing" concerning...)
People still forget that we live on the same planet and in the end we are all the same... No one is smarter or brighter then the "average Joe" next to you. We all have the same potential, but some decide to pursue other things than others...
What I want to say... Please stop fighting! Yes, the Internet is the "Modern Arena" where people can fight for even the smallest detail, but in the end it solves nothing... just dividing the community (that came around and was formed by "it's own will").
Please don't expect the "Moon" from the SKY because some PR guy said so or that the "trend" is "dictating that you should"... Reality is different than Myth or nicely coloured PowerPoint presentations;)
Let your expectations be based on reality and not myth or "CES" or any other "event" that is meant to drive the "heard" to buy things for the corporations... (so their investors can get rich)...
Prices are what they are and things happen as they happen. Unless "we grow a common sense" we can't fight what is happening... But if we don't agree with what is "out there", let's not fight here;)
I find the "common sense" not so "common" in today's time... Strange isn't it... Must be a sign that I'm getting old... LOL! :)
PS:
Sorry for the long post. Hope is readable!

Nestle literally and knowingly responsible for millions of baby deaths in the persuit of profits:

I don't see anything about any deaths. If you truly believe that why aren't you on a boat with an assault rifle on your way to Nestle headquarters to kill every last one of those responsible?
A lot of your statements concerning economics seem like hyperbole. Remember that these terms you use are just words, the meaning behind them is what counts, as do negative consequences. Your not lookind deep enough IMO. A surplus of labor is still being taken advantage of to drive down wages, as is lack of choice.
In my estimate, THIS is the root all almost all problems we face. We live in a society where you don't get back what you put in, but one in which too live and experience new things you must use money. You have to use money just to set yourself in a seat to be among other if your lonely. If fairness was to be an aspect of our society, then live is basically theft. It also probably the reason VR is a niche, why organic foods are a niche product, why Tesla is a niche product, why VR has to "get off the ground" slowly, why VR isn't here yet to begin with.
There is no way you can play the doom vive mod sat down. You still have to turn with your body.
You don't use a 360 pad or keyboard.
You stand and your left motion controller is the torch and the right motion controller is your gun.
Your left motion controller track pad is forwards/backwards/strafe left/strafe right.
It's the turning with the a mouse or 360 controller that makes you feel ill in FPS games.
It's so good. Just try it, if it makes you sick then you are missing out but if it doesn't then you are in for one of the best gaming experiences you have ever had! (IMO)
Obviously i started playing it standing up, that gave me quite a bit of motion sickness.. Sitting down removed it completely.. it's easy to understand why too, when you stand up and you walk (in-game) your mind gets really confused (standing up = walking mode), if you sit down it helps the brain to understand that you are doing 2 things, sitting down in real life and moving - visually. It's awesome playing sitting down, standing up sucks anyways, my feet hurt after 10 mins or even less. Standing up has always been overrated when it comes to gaming, same with the Wii hype and controllers, everyone started standing up, eventually everyone sat down, it's just 100x more comfortable for most people.
Playing with the Touch controllers works great sitting down btw... Also, it's not a "vive mod" ;) It even has native Oculus support..

Libertine, that is an interesting take. Yeah, some of what I said was hyperbole, and I have stated as much. Other aspects are shockingly true. I don't take a rifle to kill people for the same reason the vast majority don't take up arms against unjust governments.
Who in the USA has fought the government against the illegal war in Iraq which has resulted in hundreds of thousands of civilian deaths including those of women, children, and babies? The perpetrators are walking free with huge smiles on their faces and jackets filled with profits from the war from oil companies, arms manufacturers, as well as their lobbyists.
My opinion for why communism, socialism, and capitalism all fail is due to simple human nature. Those who have wealth and power use their wealth and power to gain more wealth and power at the expense of others. This is the reason you see an exponential curve on your graph.
Giving an example, powerful tycoons would use their power and wealth to lobby (basically legal bribery) legislators to make it illegal to form unions, instil a minimum wage, provide free health care, cap maximum working hours, increase corporate taxes etc. This ensures that the poor stay poor but the rich get exponentially wealthy.
The problem we face is that the people are easily misled. They are easily convinced to vote against their own interests. This is another can of worms - the public education system is sub-par compared to private education that the rich and powerful have. This ensures the masses lack critical thinking. The masses are easily controlled due to a lack of critical thinking with easy trigger words such as terrorism and patriotism. Look at Trump as an example, and his voter base.
The best way out of this spiral is, as my friend helifax mentions above: education combined with hard work. He also mentions BREXIT, and rightly states that it is a complete disgrace. The very people who will suffer the most are the ones who voted for it. It's similar to the USA where the elderly tend to favour the GOP even though the GOP is all about dismantling free health care and social security for those very people.
I'll leave you with a quote:
"Of course the people don't want war. But after all, it's the leaders of the country who determine the policy, and it's always a simple matter to drag the people along whether it's a democracy, a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism, and exposing the country to greater danger."
-- Nazi Luftwaffe commander Hermann Goering at the Nuremberg trials.

@Rage Well, i think those are factors, but i see things differently and i am familiar with that quote. Hating Bush is like hating a baby for accidentally knocking a cookie jar onto the floor IMO, he was THAT limited by his ignorance. You said Nestle knowingly released something that would kill a million children... ;)

A little bit of hyperbole, but there is a lot of truth in it. The actual number is unknown, but there was and still is enough damnation by the world that organised boycott still exist because of what they did. New laws have been put into place to prevent exactly this kind of thing happening again.
I am surprised you are not aware of what happened; it was quite the scandal. Nestle strongly pushed their formula milk in developing countries to unknowing mothers, stating outright lies such as it being better than breastmilk. They went as far as handing out free samples in hospitals and maternity wards. The problem is that they know full well that once the mother started using the samples, the mother's own milk would dry up and she would be hooked onto the formula, which she would have to buy, or else her baby would die.
The expense meant that mothers could not afford it but now also meant that they could not breast feed. Their babies died of starvation.
Some mothers had some money and started using less powder, which wasn't enough to sustain a baby. Guess what happened? Yep, babies died of malnutrition.
Even if mothers had money, there is a severe lack of clean water to mix the formula with. Yep, more babies died from water contamination and diarrhoea.
Even if the mothers had money and clean water, breast milk is especially important in developing countries as it contains antibodies which the mother passes onto the baby - these protect against diseases. This could no longer happen. Guess what? Babies died of diseases which they would otherwise have been protected against.
Nestle knew this would happen, just as tobacco companies knew their products kill people but lobbied for decades to have the evidence and studies buried.
This is not hyperbole. You can google it all.
Here is a wiki link which summarises some of it. You can google the fallout and the numerous laws and legislation put into place. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nestl%C3%A9_boycott
The baby death toll is incalculable. Instead of simply googling to verify what happened, if you want to sit there and send someone winks while they tell you about uncountable number of baby deaths due to corporate greed, then I'm out mate.
Regarding Bush, Cheney et al; it wasn't ignorance. The war was deliberately and meticulously calculated and perpetrated to reap profits for the lobbyists - oil companies and the military industrial complex in spite of knowing that it would cause hundreds of thousands of civilian deaths and an increased likelihood of retaliation in the form of terror attacks etc. The US population paid for it in money and some death. The Iraq population paid for it in hundreds of thousands of civilian deaths. The world paid for it with instability and increased terror. The only victors: the record profits of oil companies now in Iraq as well as military contractors. Here is Blackwater, just one of those companies: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Academi#Incidents
Do you remember a section of Americans cheer-leading that war? Tell me. If you were an Iraqi and your family had been killed by this war; might you want revenge on said population and country who killed your family?
Ironically, we call such people terrorists for wanting revenge after losing everything, when it is us who caused the terror to begin with.
Yet, here, we moan about a company who makes products which double in performance every few years but only cost marginally extra.

One of the major problems in todays world, is that people are getting increasingly more selfish and egocentered.
Take the Brexit, the Brits where affraid that, workers from eastern Europe would steal all their jobs, and thus turning their back to Europe. The loosers is the very same people who voted and ofc. the rest of Europe !
Take Trumph, the rich Americans don't want to spend a single dime on poor peoples healthcare, what a disgrace !
The second cold war is imminent, and all the Western people do is moving away from each other !
But I have a cincerly hope that peace can be restored here on my favorite forum !
LOL, a bit off topic, but just my 2 cents from Denmark :)

Both Trump and Brexit was last year's big wins for humanity, imo.. things needs to change, and drastically so. Doing the same shit over and over AND expecting change, that is absolute insanity (Einstein would agree).
My 2 cents from Sweden (we know a thing or 10 about immigration and islamization, i can assure you..)

I'm not falling out with anyone.
One of my characteristics is wearing my heart on my sleeve and I might come over a bit abrupt sometimes. That's the problem with text communication.
Probably the reason I got the wrong end of the stick with ragedemon.
I also did say MRSP originally, which bo3b was right to correct me on, but the cards ended up costing a lot more in reality. (if you could even get them)
Anyway. This is like an episode of Eastenders! This forum is about 3D anyway not graphic card prices.
Everyone should sign this petition to try and get 3D back in TV's.....

Anyone think the new windows 'game mode' will be of any use?
I think it would be better to have a windows 10 media edition. just internet, games and movies.
The latest xbox OS is a cut down version of windows 10 after all.
Has anyone here tried it?

Canada does it right... and is a state BASED ON IMMIGRATION... But I guess is too hard to create and follow rules/laws... for some people...
The only "losers" will be both the US and UK citizens with their votes (for "humanity"... don't make me laugh... I believe you have no idea what you are talking about...).

The only "losers" will be both the US and UK citizens with their votes (for "humanity"... don't make me laugh... I believe you have no idea what you are talking about...).

How Do I run Trump and Brexit in 3D vision? Do I need a emitter? Does Nvidia even care that about people trying to run these applications? Is there anyway I can run them In Side by Side mode?
I'm sorry but, This thread gone so far off topic. It's starting to look a little crazy for a 3D Vision forum....

I hope they do it for alien isolation too. Before the alien covenant VR game comes out...

On the link you gave it describes it as a VR Experience, not a game. It should still be awesome.
Also Sega has not ruled out making a follow up Alien game, although they are a little hesitant due to lackluster sales of Isolation.
A new trailer for the movie has been posted, in theaters May 19

So they have to make up their profits somewhere
LOL! :)

Anyone think the new windows 'game mode' will be of any use?
I think it would be better to have a windows 10 media edition. just internet, games and movies.
The latest xbox OS is a cut down version of windows 10 after all.
Has anyone here tried it?
