1 / 3
Bought this game on sale a while back thinking it was similiar to Fallout. TBH not a fan and I couldnt get Helix debugger to find some shaders so posting what I have here incase anyone wants. I may do rest of series with some kind of partial patch, I have no idea. I really didnt find it interesting. Instructions Still need to turn off in-game AA (Use nvidia inspector. AA flag is 0x00001041 . Just force MSAA and can also use injector for SMAA/whatver. Guide is here http://helixmod.blogspot.com/2012/08/guidehow-to-install-helixmod-game-fixes.html ) Set lighting to Static Install this mod to remove annoying crosshair and other impovements. http://stalker.filefront.com/file/SMRTER_Pripyat;108615 Install helixmod patch (Fixes skybox, allows seperate convergence setting for gun sights. Hold down right mouse click and adjust to liking and press F7) Install D3D9.DLL https://s3.amazonaws.com/HelixMods/stalkercall/d3d9.dll TO \Stalker Call of Pripyat\Bin\ Install shaderoverride https://s3.amazonaws.com/HelixMods/stalkercall/shaderoverride.zip to \Stalker Call of Pripyat\

First one is by far the best IMO. Really needs mods though to make it AAA. I recommend Oblivion Lost mod.

46" Samsung ES7500 3DTV (checkerboard, high FOV as desktop monitor, highly recommend!) - Metro 2033 3D PNG screens - Metro LL filter realism mod - Flugan's Deus Ex:HR Depth changers - Nvidia tech support online form - Nvidia support: 1-800-797-6530

I recommend the STALKER Complete series of mods (one for each game). Highly stable. http://www.moddb.com/mods/stalker-complete-2009

@eqzitara Thanks for the sky fix on this. This was the only beef I had with the game in 3D. I am using the 3rd person mod and can switch between first and 3rd person. 3rd person makes a difference in gameplay, but the caveat is, it's not as easy to target. I have a key to switch to first person for fire fights and a key to switch to 3rd person for exploration. The art design is pretty well done and the atmosphere and exploration is the best parts of the game. Do you know of a fix for the sky in Shadow of Chernobyl? I agree with Libertine, that SOC is the best one of the series... Cheers!

Ill do shadows of chernobyl, as long as same issues. Apparently you can turn off crosshair in options. But if someone finds a mod for Clear sky I can do that too. That crosshair is humongous and doesnt actually work (its delayed) because of switching from ironsights .I dont even really use crosshairs in games especially if they offer ironsights. Apparently they went downhill after SoC. I have 4 people on buddy list with it, 2 for for CoP, 0 for clear sky.

@eqzitara thanks man, but I understand if it is a no go. the Stalker series has it's moments, but after SoC nothing really innovative as the series progressed...can't go wrong when on sale for under $5 though...

Shadows of chernobyl Ugh, I hate it when doing profile stuff because always issue if sli/non sli has different issues. But am I only one who sees shadow issues? Even with dynamic lighting off. Prototype's profile fixes it but still. Also dont get your hopes up. I cant seem to inject sky shaders even unchanged. Ill try again in a few days but doesnt seem good.

Ill try tommorrow. I still need to try other debuggers. Gunsights should work now too btw. @Birthright. Oh. Well I'm not sure if prototype profile existed then but I did a quick run around and shadows seem good though not sure of sli/non sli conflicts.

Hello, first thx very much for this fix, finally I can play with sniper scope ;) However, I have a problem. I have a two-monitor setup, and it seems that even if the game only uses one monitor, the mouse (the windows mouse, not the rendered in-game mouse) can be moved to the other monitor. The next mouse click will then bring the desktop to front and send the game to the taskbar. This was not the case without HelixMod installed. Very confusing and I do not see how this can be avoided. Is there something that can be done? Other games like Bioshock 2 work fine with HelixMod installed.

@skr68 This can happen with other games regardless of helix dll being used, I've seen it before. Alt-tabbing in and out of games goes wrong for lots of games as well. The solution for me when I have these issues is to just physically turn off the second monitor before playing a game. The Nvidia drivers seem to be clever enough to reconfigure the dual setup (virtual placement of monitors, resolutions etc) correctly when you turn the second monitor back on, though any windows that were on the second monitor will not be relocated back there.

I just googled a bit and found a solution. Not perfect, but... http://www.snakebytestudios.com/projects/apps/cursor-lock/ Creating a Cursor Lock shortcut to the game directly does not work with Stalker because the working directory is not set/found. But you can create a "User Strict Lock" and restrict the cursor to one monitor anyway. This also helps when you do not have the second monitor on all the time, even if you do not play a game.
