Hi All, have questions on EDID override
Hi All, Thanks to other threads in here and responses to some of mine, I have 3dTVplay working pretty well with lots of games. Most recently, Alice Madness Returns. The game looks great in 3D Now that I've enjoyed 3d gaming for awhile I'm getting spoiled and want it in 1080 60fps and currently am using the 720p 60fps mode because I like the better framerate over graphics and so on. I have read several things about the edid override that turned me off: 1) it makes you have no sound through HDMI anymore 2) it reverses the images so you have to wear your 3d specs upside down or switch the lenses I had read this post from someone on a different site that says the following: http://afriendlyfox.com/2013/02/04/massively-improved-nvidia-3d-vision-on-passive-3dtvs-edid-override/#comment-1095 "Rafael says: August 4, 2014 at 7:00 PM ok…i finally fix it…….the bad ghosting was because the hdmi cable i just chage it for a better one and problem solved no ghosting a least the same amount of the 3dtv nvidia vision in normal resolutions…..my tv is a Sony Bravia TV LED KDL-50R550A and the override i use its called (Acer HR274H 3D Monitor EDID Override)and it give you sound too!!! i tryed it in two computers and alienware i5 with a gtx 680 and i7 with azus gtx 780ti and it works exact the same as in normal 3d vision, but now 1080@60hz….thanks for the help man!!! i dont even knew about something like this would be posible throw HDMI. if anyone wants the override just email me i will send it to you. thanks agan man!!" So that TV he has, KDL-50R550A , is not the same as mine but it is also a sony passive 3D like his model. My model TV is a KDL-55W802A so wold the same override work? Is that stuff possible about sound working?

-An edid override shouldn't stop sound from working -It won't give you 1080p/60hz It's only worth doing if you're having problems getting games to run at 720p/60hz.

Yeah, it will work at 1080p@60Hz. It's passive, you may need to flip the glasses on the Zalman or the Acer EDID. There are Eye swap tools at the 3D vision blog if you need them. For sound, I think you only lose 5.1 sound, sound still does output to my tv as stereo sound and linear pcm 2.1. Otherwise, you will still need a SPDIF output for 5.1 sound if you need to retain your multichannel sound output. It's pretty simple to do, for Windows 8.1 you will need to disable some boot options to install he EDID override because Windows won't allow it to update the inf with uncertified drivers but if you are using Windows 7, it is easier to do this. Update the EDID after you install the graphics drivers and you are good to go.

I didn't think you could do 1080p/60hz over 3D TV Play?

No you can't, I thought this was about 3d vision not 3dtvplay at 1080p for passive tvs using the EDID mod.

The thing is that passive halves the resolution so it's not really as sharp as 1080p 3D. Anyway I only did the override because some games were very stubborn limiting their fps to 60. Absolutely no change whatsoever apart from a different name in device manager (but 3d 720p now worked on all games). Sound, everything works fine.

The override fools your computer into thinking your TV is a monitor. You can then use 3D Vision instead of 3DTV Play. The ACER profile is for an HDMI monitor; the other one is DVI only, hence no sound.

Ah, I missed the part where you're using a passive interlaced TV. In that case, you probably can benefit from an EDID override. Specifically, the Acer one.
I didn't think you could do 1080p/60hz over 3D TV Play?
It's not 3DTV Play, it's "Optomized for GeForce" http://www.nvidia.com/object/optimized-for-geforce-3d-passive-3D-monitors.html It's officially passive monitor support. Not HDMI 1.4 /3D HDTV support. The Zalman support is legacy from pre 2009, when you used to have to download an additional driver plugin that is now included in drivers. Later Zalman displays had only AMD HD3D support officially. So adding support for the Acer passive monitors and various laptops with passive displays was quite easy. I've yet to understand why Nvidia will not support passive 3D HDTVs in their native line interlaced format. Instead, the TV needs to convert side by side to line interleaved. TriDef support for passive/line interlaced displays is in the native line interlaced format, resulting in a nicer picture and less lag.
