How do you force vsync off in all games when using 3d vision? It is really annoying. I have tried to turn it off globally and in individual games, but to no avail.

Vysnc is on for a reason if you are using 3D vision to make sure that the left eye and right eye images are in Sync.
if you were able to turn it off in 3d vision you would en up with sever tearing of the screen not to mention what would happen when you start frequently having unmatched pairs.

Is this also why it drops from 60 to 40fps a lot? To keep it in sync? That really is my problem. The frame jumping.

Well that sounds more like a performance issue. Either due to not enough Horse Power in your rig or a bottleneck somewhere. If you give us your full system specs and monitor resolution we could help.

It just appears that you don't have the horse power to run the games you are having issues with at full 60 frames per second per eye. I don't know if anyone has that type of hardware.
Yes the GFX cards get faster and gets better and that would be good if the Software (games) used the same technology over time instead of improving the complexity.
Your games that drop to 40 fps per eye in 3d what is the fps in 2d, the average, min and max? If the min FPS in those games is above 120fps then you should be able to get a min of 60fps per eye in 3d and no drops.
Biut don't expect a game that barely gets 100fps in 2d to get 60fps per eye in 3d. (that's actually 120fps)

I use the d3doverider utility that is packaged in Rivatuner. You have to install Rivatuner to get it the first time, but you can then copy the d3doverider file and uninstall Rivatuner after that. Not true on my DLP. I accidentally had vsync forced off in the control panel and fired up Just Cause 2 in 3D. Except for the occasional tearing, it played perfectly fine in 3D. I haven't tried it on my Viewsonic LCD, but I like playing with vsync on anyway.
