Nviida GTX260 and power supply I have to check what power supply i have but i think i have 460Watt

It depends on the combined output of the 12V rails and the other components you are using, as well as the quality of the power supply and the actual GTX260 model you are planning to use. I think NVIDIA requires a current rating of 36A on the 12V rails for the GTX260, and you should check with the actual spec recommendation of your card manufacturer, since some overclocked cards require even more.

You also need to consider the other system components since for example overclocked and overvolted quad cores require lots of power too. Even more if it's a Nehalem/i7.

That all said, 460W might be enough for a 260. Emphasis on "might".

I smoked my 450w power supply - literally when I cranked up my gtx 260 in a game. It lasted about 1 minute then blew up. I got a 650w BFG to replace it.

I smoked my 450w power supply - literally when I cranked up my gtx 260 in a game. It lasted about 1 minute then blew up. I got a 650w BFG to replace it.

Thank GOD i asked you guys i am going to buy the power supply i have contacted the nvidia distributors here and they have said they have both the items GTX260 and 600 Watt Power supply which is suitable for graphic card therefore i am going to buy both the stuff from them and ask them to install both items as my desktop is too wirey i dont want anything going wrong with it.

I have an elite A9280.me HP desktop with Asus motherboard (its good motherboard but not specifically designed for gaming but it is designed and tested by hp for multimedia and it came equipped with 8600GT But it is a high end desktop with tv tunur and everything)

Quad Core 2.4GHZ
3 GB DDR2
750 GB HDD

I hope this investment is worth while already it has caused me 1100$$$$ all my savings guys are going on getting this 3D vision.
