Crysis: Is is working with 3DVision? Want to buy, need confirmation on S3D readiness
I tried the Crysis demo and despite the fact that there are double images, the transmitter remains inactive and the DLP TV couldn't put out the sync signals. The iZ3D driver supposedly works well with Crysis and I'm hoping that the Nvidia 3DVision driver also does.

If you have the full game, please comment on 3DVision compatibility, it will help me decide whether to get the game (from Steam). If you somehow got the demo run with 3DVision, please also comment. Thanks guys.

PS. Please specify you have the full game or the demo. Thks.

Didn't really work too well for me.. lots of stuff rendering at wrong depth... shadows all messed up... and other little stuff that just made me set it aside for now.

If you turn a few things off like shadows and post processing it makes the 3D experience a lot better, but you'll probably have to turn down a lot more than that to get the game running at an acceptable framerate (I did, with a GTX 280). IYAM the amount of eye candy I had to turn off to get Crysis running nice in 3D wasn't worth playing in 3D. It's one of those games where you REALLY have to make some sacrifices to play well in 3D. I don't think I'll be playing Crysis in 3D until they fix a few things with the object depth and of course not until Nvidia provides us with some more powerful GPU SKUs.

Crytek doesn't like to use 3d drivers like the nvidia 3d vision driver. They say it's too restrictive and don't like to have external software messing around with their game.

Instead they prefer building their own 3D rendering engine inside the game in order to have total control over the 3D effect.
They showed a demo of Cry Engine 3 running in 3D and displayed through a giant cinema projector at siggraph 09 http://www.mtbs3d.com/cgi-bin/rss.cgi?news_id=333

Crytek claims adding 3D inside their game engine was done in less than 2 days.
They didn't announce if there would be a patch for Crysis or if we'd have to wait until Crysis 2 to get it working.

Nobody was able to get the full game run in 3DVision with acceptable quality ? Really ? How disappointing. IZ3D looks more and more attractive with more popular games supported than 3DVision.

Does iZ3D offer full resolution or just interlaced?
If I have DLP TV, do I need new shutterglasses/transmitter? and which brand/made is compatible with iZ3D driver?

Crysis quality is no better with the iz3d or DDD-ignition drivers.
I mean that game is a beast, it's already hard to get it working in 2D so all 3D drivers trying to work through Crysis just end up failing.

The iz3d monitor is full resolution and brighter than nvidia's solution but the monitor is quite old and suffers from severe ghosting, the iz3d team is about to release new glasses and new anti-ghosting algorithms to try and suppress that ghosting. But since the new glasses aren't available i do not know if they managed to fix the issues.
Other than that the iz3d driver fully supports interlaced and DLP3D checkerboard displays.

Full resolution page-flipping (full resolution shutter) isn't complete though, sync is only partially supported, if the game framerate falls below 60fps the sync is lost.
The iz3d driver also can't activate the nvidia glasses. (no USB sync)

If your DLP tv is 3D-ready then it will work since the glasses are controlled by the display, you can use edimensional or the samsung shutter glasses. The only issue might be the geforce glasses, i do not know if they still activate without the nvidia driver and the usb connection. That is unknown to me.

Crysis is technically supported by 3D Vision, however you cannot run the game at full quality in stereo 3d (even if you time traveled from the future and had a machine that could do that). In order to get rid of the glitches I had to set all settings to "Medium" and also disable shadows and motion-blur. Nvidia recommends turing off post-processing too, but its not so bad if you leave it on. Even so, its hardly the same game as with the full settings. Losing the shadows is a huge loss and also all the motion-blur and other DX10 effects that really made the game look next-gen. It still works alright in 3d, but honestly at that point even something like HL2 or even UT2004 looks more impressive. Also, the IZ3D and DDD drivers are plaugued with problems as well so its not just an Nvidia issue. Its more about Crytek using a lot of unorthodox rendering techniques that the drivers aren't equipped to handle.

I have uploaded some Nvidia 3D Vision compatible PNS frame captures to give you an idea of how Crysis will look:

If you run crysis (Dx10, all rendering options enabled/high including shadows, but MotionBlur and DoF off) with stereo separation at minimun (3 bars) and convergence adjusted, so the whole scenery almost entirely pops out, you get an idea how it could look like. Doing so, the crysis world gets tiny but this reduces the shadow shifting to an acceptable level. I've been waiting since 2007 to see it properly rendered in stereo3d, with no luck.

I just did some testing and Crysis DOES work with the DDD Ignition drivers (if you are using an interlaced monitor like Zalman or a 3D-Ready DLP hdtv). I had everything enabled on custom Very High settings @ 1680 x 1050 in 3D with highly playable framerates. I am encoding a video right now for YouTube3D, but I just wanted to let you guys know that it works. Will post the video link shortly.

That's good news.
Thinking of resuscitating my old system, a duo 2 core + 7900GS + Vista 32 for the D[sup]3[/sup] ignition drivers.
