Faulty 2233RZ screen Anyone else have this
Hi All,

Australian here that was pulling his hair out missing out on the Nvidia 3d vision bundle not being in Australia.
Well it still isn't in Australia anywhere and I have tried all avenues for months with no luck.
I found out on some forums that New Zealand actually have the Samsung 2233RZ screen and 3d glasses(bundle) or can purchase just the screen or glasses seperately, this would sell so well here in Australia c'mon Nvidia what are you doing and Samsung!
Anyway I ordered from New Zealand to Australia, it shipped last Thursday and was at my door the next day at 3:00pm, best service I have ever had.
Like everyone else here I couldn't wait to try it all out after being jelous for many months of everyone else that had the kit :)

First issue what is with the ridiculous monitor stand on the Samsung 2233RZ, c'mon Samsung this is appauling. Basically a plastic cylinder that pushes into some moulded rubber on the bottom of the monitor is not acceptable and very much risks having to put to much pressure trying to get it in.

My issue however is a major one, I was excited to turn on the screen finally after battling with the monitor stand for 15 mins. Once fired up I had a red line down the middle of the screen and the right half of the screen had all little speckling red dots /fear.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':fear:' />
I opened up a web browser to see if anyone else had issues and google returned a cnet post where one guy had exact same issue, meanwhile the web browser being white background showed me that the right half of the screen was all light blue /fear.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':fear:' />.

Long story short I thought could be this could be that, tried different dual dvi cable, format and reinstall of drivers, took the spdif connector off my video card to the mobo, used a power inverter go from 240 volts to 110 volts and used a USA style power plug to the monitor, yep I tried everything.

Faulty monitor which I now need to pay $150 aussie dollars to send back to the place I bought it in New Zealand, great!

Couldn't even enjoy 3d, I had a quick go of it but couldn't get that sinking feeling from my faulty monitor our of my system /ermm.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':ermm:' />

Anyone else receive a faulty 2233RZ monitor at all???

On a side note I bought a 3d Ready Plasma yesterday, Aussie model is Samsung PS50B450 (50 inch) to use with my Nvidia 3d glasses (uses Checkerboard 3d effect) , fired it up and guess what 7 stuck pixels!!!!! Both Samsung products unbelievable , well the Plasma is being exchanged tonight and hopefully the new one doesn't have any issues. Pitty we can't purchase any DLP like USA can, this is the only screen bigger than a computer monitor that has the 3d synch port on the back of it. PS50A450 and mine PS50B450 have the 3d synch port, any models after this 450 series do not have it I checked in store and on the Samsung website looking at all the models manuals. You can get also get 42" in the 450 series as above with the 3d synch port but I opted for the 50" as it has res of 1360x768 where as the 42" is only 1024x768.

I haven't got to sit down and enjoy 3d as yet and do some solid gaming due to all these issues, I did get to try the 3d on the Plasma and it all worked and synched up fine.

That's unbelievable you don't have them in Aussie. Who did you by it from here? Was it Playtech. They are pretty good with there RMA's.

Yes Playtech was only place I could find that had them.
They are very good with the RMA, I have to pay freight back to New Zealand which is the bummer but the good thing is Playtech will pay for freight back to Australia.
I asked him and out of about forty sold I am only one he has heard of issues with, about 15 to Australia and the rest were sold in New Zealand.
They are going to test the replacement one before sending so bit of piece of mind there, I really am over screen issues :)

Got my replacement 3d Plasma last night and all is good, just about to dig in and have a play with it in 3d.

Took me 5 seconds to get the stand installed, gotta jimmy it in, rather just push it straight in. But anyway, I feel for ya. I'm sure they'll send you a new one. Always buy a warranty for something expensive like this. :magic:

Playtech are very good. They are only around the corner from where I live. I get 95% of my hardware from them. That is where I got my 2233RZ and glasses. It's a shame you got a dud monitor though.
