Stuttering/low FPS in 3dvision with only certain games
  3 / 6
Wait! Did you say you are running Windows 10 + Anniversary Patch/Edition? I bet that is where the issues is Win10 + Anniversary stuff broke quite a lot of things for us 3D gamers. Can you install Windows 7 or Windows 10 (previous build) on a separate HDD and see if you can replicate the issue? That stuttering looks really bad... Having neither the CPU nor the GPU working near 99% seems to point out is some sort of software issue from what I can see...

I get same sort of stutter(maybe not as bad) in arkham origins with a 2600k@4.8, gtx 1080 and 980 on win 10 and win 7. 16gb 2133mhz ddr3, tried on ssd and hdd. This was very disappointing, i wanted to replay the game. Got cheap 680 to replay it with an older driver which ironically ran the game better than 1080.

@terintamel Did you check for bit-coin miner virus. I have one around 2 year ago some games played fine while others were slow, stuttering etc . A simple way to check open a Administrator Command prompt and type MRT.

Here are some more videos. Arkham City 1440x900 Everything to Off or Low. Physx Off This one is odd as flying through the City does not show any issues, but inside the courthouse I get this odd issue where the framerate takes a larger than expected hit in certain areas. 3d Vision Enabled but Off ingame https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m53hyWKxWXI&feature=youtu.be 3d Vision Disabled https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-G-47hqgDMA&feature=youtu.be

Watch Dogs - I get bad stutter and FPS w/3d Vision enabled. It was hard to capture as I am holding a cell phone in one hand and a game pad in the other. Trust me that the stuttering continue for more than just the first section. 1680x1050 Most settings to High or Ultra 3d Vision Disabled - smooth gameplay https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cn04NWbpObQ&feature=youtu.be 3d Vision Enabled - stutter https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L1Vnus_qvUA&feature=youtu.be It seems the 3d Vision driver has a lot of overhead in this game on my system?

I will also mention that there are other games like Hitman Absolution and Ghostbusters that do not stutter but do have sections where with 3d Vision enabled and 3d on in game that the framerate is 1/4 to 1/3 what it is with 3d Off. It is not stutter so I am not considering it a part of this thread, but was wondering if anyone can explain to me why that might happen.

Just chiming in here.. I am noticing that the 10XX series cards perform better at 4K. I fired up borderlands 2 with my new card to see if I would get a totally smooth experience in 3D. With 3D vision enabled on my 3D vision 1920/1080 monitor it was dipping down quite a bit (sometimes 60 fps (so 120) but more often 30ish.. which is a hell of a lot less than I expected on a 1080GTX (also running 4.2ghz 8350) I then switched over to my 4K monitor which doesn't haver 3D vision of course, but does have 3D Discover.. which appears to be the same rendering process (i.e. the dual images) On my 4K monitor I got a hell of lot better performance. 3D VIsion DIscover (i.e. rendering the dual images) I was staying above 50 FPS at all times. So in light of this the impression I'm getting is that 10XX cards don't really perform much better in some games unless its in much larger resolutions (i.e. pushing more pixels, not pushing a smaller amount of pixels faster) Some games though I do see the FPS getting cranked up on my 3D vision 1920/1080 monitor.

Here are the games I have tested and found some type of stuttering or odd performance issues in 3d Vision that I did not have on the 660ti running 337.88 in Win 8.1 Watch Dogs - stutter Far Cry 3 - DX11 (compatability mode) heavy stutter, DX9 moderate stutter Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon - DX11 - stutter Arkham Origins - really bad stutter Arkham City - Really low fps in certain locations Games that had 3d vision issues on the 660ti and 337.88 and still have issues. (might not be nvidia related?) Dishonored - Framerate with 3D Vision On and Disabled in game get a steady 120+fps. Turn 3d on in game and when looking at certain areas the framerate drops to 35fps. This makes the game choppy as you move around. When the FPS drops the GPU clock speed also throttles down. After some further tests it runs much better with Helix Mod uninstalled on this game except certain effects render wrong. Must be a helix issue? Ghostbusters - With 3D on in game FPS of certain scenes are 1/4 to 1/3 non 3d framerate Games I have tested that run with no issue in 3D Alien Isolation Crysis 2/3 Splinter Cell Black List Deus EX HR Deus Ex MD Tomb Raider 2013 Thief - new version Talos Principle Metro Redux/LL Redux Bioshock Infinite Enslaved Portal 2 What I am most interested in are others thoughts about the issues I show in my videos. Especially the thoughts of bo3b

As a data point, I ran Arkham City last night, and did not see any stutter or particularly low frame rates. This is notable, because we reported a bug with the Arkham games as stuttering past driver 337.88. I'm not certain, but this looks fixed.

In fact I played through the whole game in 2d on my older system (660ti Phenon II X4 955) without stutter. Thought I would try it in 3d now with my FX-8350/1060. Runs great in 2d, but poorly when running through the 3d vision driver. I guess I need some further explanation on why having the 3D vision driver enabled but 3d OFF in game can have performance issues that plain 2d do not? Is the overhead of the driver alone that high?
