Nvidia 3D Vision - Anaglyph mode, any way to fix dull color?... Comparison of Nvidia 3D to Tridef 3D
Ok I've noticed this since I started using Nvidia and Tridef 3D. Nvidia 3D dulls the color a bit to make reds and blues in games look black and gray while Tridef 3D preserves all the color information. Yes I can understand why Nvidia would do this but there should be an option to run in anaglyph mode with different settings so that the color is more clear. You would think that bright reds and blues would hurt your eyes in anaglyph mode but I actually prefer it much more than Nvidia's 3D anaglyph because it's more vibrant. The problem with Tridef 3D is that for some reason when I start a game with PhysX using Tridef Ignition, when i get to Physx areas in a game my computer is using the CPU instead of the GPU (Nvidia GTX260) to proccess the physics so its slows from 60 fps to 2 fps even though I have an i7 quad core. GPU is still much better for this.

Anyway, this is why I want to use Nvidia 3D because the game, (Mirror's Edge by the way) , runs in 3D at around 40 fps without loss in PhysX heavy areas.
So is there any hope of Nvidia coming out with a 3D driver that allows for changing the Anaglyph Color type? Here are some examples of the difference from
Nvidia 3D and Tridef 3D... (I used an HD video camera to get the stills of Nvidia 3D since the images can only be stored as JPS)

There is.
But in registry.

Before I got 3D Vision set, I tried with anaglyph glasses.
As far as I remember, there was actually hint how to improve colors here on this forums.

Anyway, no matter what you try, it's far cry from 'real' S3D as far as colors go.

Tridef obviously uses full color anaglyph which gives a lot of retinal rivalry. Personally i prefer an optimized algorithm with color losses if i must use anaglyph. Each of their own of course but usually there are options to change algorithm in drivers/viewers.

Yes thats true. I can't imagine to play MirrorsEdge with Full-color-Anaglyph. Most of the Red and Blue objects will be visible for one eye only.

Masuji Suto(Author of StereoPhotoMaker) has a nice color-channel-mixing method - Nvidia should better learn from people like him:

You could also try the iz3D driver. They have a free anaglyph mode and performance is good.

Thanks Flint, that worked great. I have Windows 7 64bit so I had to use the wow64 folder in Registry to get the effect working. Thanks again.

Just thout I'd add this, to get iZ3D to have the same colors for Optimized anaglyph as Nvidia Angalyph uses, you go to this folder in Windows 7 x64 bit...

C:/Program Data/iZ3D Driver/Config.xml

then change the anaglyph custom output to this instead of Green/Magenta and select custom anaglyph in the iZ3D control panel...
