Hey guys, loyal 3D gamer, who, like many of you, still refuses to accept the death of our beloved technology. Anyhow, just ordered a new desktop, with dual Titan XPs. My primary monitor will be my OLED65C6P tv, but I am trying to find a good 3D monitor for some more discreet gaming sessions as well. I have been researching for a couple of weeks, and with the seemingly total unavailability of the PG278QR, I have been look at the PG27VQ. I claims to be 3D Vision ready, and I have read it even includes the transmitter, but what I am finding increasingly difficult is locating any kind of discussion or review of the 3D performance of this particular monitor.
Can any of you tell me what the 3D performance of the PG27VQ might be, and possibly some of the pros and cons of it? Also, can you confirm whether it needs the transmitter, or if it is compatible with the glasses out of the box?
I also wished to add, one of the reasons I am concerned, is that I do not see this monitor being discussed, when talking about the better 3D Vision monitors available, which makes me wonder if it might have some real 3D performance issues.
Thank you all, for any help you might be able to provide!!

I have this monitor & it’s by far the best performing 3D panel I have owned (have been through just about every 3D monitor)
Notably, the crosstalk is almost non existent & the curve gives it a more immersive feel.
You def need a seperate emitter, mine did not have one built in.

So is this monitor better in terms of 3D than Asus PG278Q? Did you own this one, too? I'm just wondering if it would be worth upgrading to Asus PG27VQ.

Yes I had the PG278Q. in my opinion, their is definitely a greater 3D experience based on the minimal crosstalk, picture quality & curve.

wow this is interesting... just a few weeks ago I was looking if anyone bought the VQ yet and now I see you also had the QR before and can confirm the crosstalk is less sever with the VQ so now I'm tempted...
I have it on my list, was just waiting for a price drop or a sale, I mean it's 300$ more that what I paid for the QR that I finally returned.

Guess what, with my usual luck when I buy items, the monitor received had the navigation joystick on the back broken loose so I was not able to test it properly so RMA it is for a replacement.
From quick testing it, crosstalk was a bit less severe than on the QR but it is processed the same as the QR, what I mean is the pattern are thin lines compared to BenQ implementation.
I will do more testing when I receive the replacement prolly next week and will probably end up keeping it as there is no other alternative I can see and nothing new with 3D Vision was announced in the last months.

Hi Robert, glad to see someone was following my story.
The store did a mistake so it took longer to solve the issue and I just received my replacement today.
First I want to point out that I'm the kind of person who is somewhat a perfectionist when it comes to my setup. My girlfriend is an optometrist and the part I like the most in eyes exam is when we finetune the view to get a perfect vision. She flips a lense and ask if I see better with A or B then finetune more with another lense and so own until I'm able to read 20/10! Ask to try reading 20/10 next time, you'll see (or not!) what I mean. :-)
Back on topic, well... all I can say is that BenQ performs better than both ASUS QR/VQ. That VQ is very similar the QR in my experience and crosstalk can be very visible in some situations, unlike my BenQ. Also I can see thin vertical lines in many places when in 3D, mostly noticeable in the crosstalk zones. I'm not an expert but I wonder if that could mean that BenQ 3D approach was to use checker board while ASUS use another kind of mode? I mean those lines do not exist on the BenQ. BTW I'm not talking about the moiré effect seen in the screenshot below mostly seen in the middle and the right.

Some comparison screenshots here but nothing done professionally. It may help or not.
When I quit focusing on crosstalk issue and tried many games from the last few years like Trine 3, Pinball FX3, watching a movie in 3D like TRON Legacy and then playing Overwatch (teens play this all the time) all in all it was pretty cool. A saw some crosstalk issue in the Overwatch menu like seen below but playing the game wasn't an issue.

Then nothing really wrong on this screen...

Now my dilemma is that the second computer (my previous one which teens use now) is really in need of a monitor. They currently use a borrowed monitor which have a problem keeping Display Port signal and my teens rage when they play and DP signal is lost in the middle of a match so they want me to get a new monitor ASAP because they would then use the BenQ. I've been waiting for so long for a 27" 1440P 3D monitor that I think I will have no choice to keep this one. Yes I've refused to keep any of both QR I tested last year at this same period and now this VQ perform almost the same with an extra 150$ but my only options as of today are either this VQ or the QR. I will try this VQ a week and see if I like the 1800R curve. I was able to get a discount on it so current price difference is less than 100$ so it's not really about the price.
P.S. If only BenQ had released a 27" 1440P 3D monitor I think it would have been the best option. (sigh)

Well after the 1st one with broken joystick on the back, this one had the mystery green pixel and today 2 vertical stripes showed up on the left part of the screen. Replacement request sent... :-/ Hopefully the 3rd one will be perfect.
