Activator X3D Activator?
Hi All,

Sorry for hogging the forum. I have a pair of wired X3D glasses that came with an activator from 2002.

Have there been any software advances since this product was on the market? Would another activator prove beneficial?

What would be compatible?

Thanks in advance,

Chopper

Do you mean the software?
Because I haven't heard of any new releases.

Well, I've been seeing posts about an H3D activator, and Edimensional is still in business. I was just wondering if there would be any advantages to using an activator from a different, current brand.

Mine is from 2002.

I don't think there were any advances in any of the activators I have seen. I have ED's ED activator and R3DCTL from Razor 3D and they are the exact same just with different names. Just curious, why are you using the activator instead of the NVIDIA driver?

I use both. I read and have found that the activator makes sure the frame synchronization is good. Without it, I get occasional white flashes while playing games.

I downloaded the Edimensional activator - it works with my glasses. Let's see if it makes any difference.

Just to avoid any confusion for the readers of this thread.

An 'activator' is just a very small piece of software which sets the operation mode for 3D-glasses which don't have any real buttons on the controller (which sucks). (On, Off, page-flipping, sync-doubling, line-blanking, reverse)

It can never replace native 3D-material or a real 3D-driver(like nVidia) or 3D-wrapper.

The better results achieved when using nVidia plus activator can be explained by the switch from DDC-signal to VGA-vsync-autosense. The latter can be more stable because DDC uses IRQ and can interfere with VGA to monitor communication.
However in VGA-autosense mode make sure you don't end up in reversed-stereo.
