Whats the best setting for convergence? (Is it saveable?) Mostly for JC2 and BfBC2
The problem I have from fully enjoying these titles in 3D (not that its not working) seems to be the convergence setting (F5/F6). I set the depth to 30-35% (the most comfortable I have with my eyes) and I always have to change the convergence setting every time I play. What is the general rule or the best guide for the convergence? I am almost always experiencing these things:

- Either the hand holding guns (in FPS) or the main character (in third person action game) has double vision or left/right annoying shadows. When aiming down the sight (in FPS) or the main character zoomed very close, the image is extremely blurry or literally double imaged.
- When looking at the environment, some objects (boxes, light lamps, buildings, mountains) have double vision/shadow and/or blurry.

It seems that if I play around with the convergence, either I get perfect 3D Vision for near and far sight but crappy/blurry mid-range vision, or the other way around. Is there anyway this could be addressed from my setting? Also, is there any feature to save (and load) the configuration (convergence) setting for each game or is it global for every game?

Any help would be appreciated. Running 1920x1080 if it of any help. Thank you.

In the NVCP on the stereoscopic settings there is a tab to set keyboard keys for advanced features like convergence depth and saving convergence settings.

There are many things you can do when changing these settings . Generally if you mess with the depth youll have to change the convergence . Depending on what kind of experience you want is how you will change the convergence . What i do usually in FPS is make the gun look normal ( not split / just 2d) as that makes it seem like the gun is literally right in front of you so your actually getting a real life 3d perspective.

Thanks, Via Sin Dios, it is a great read.

If you dont mind, I have a follow up for you. I enabled the advanced control from the Nvidia control panel, which is why now I'm confused as to which one is which is better set up. Generally, of course, I do want both pop-out and depth effects from my 3D. The problem is, I dont know what the sweet spot is.

Depth is set to 30-35% for now and I found it to be super comfortable. Now that it is set, the problem is now with convergence. Like mentioned, it seems that if I make it so that closest object appear solid (not split/shadowy), the mid-range objects causes splitting/double vision and sometimes the far objects are the same way. If I make the mid-range objects solid (from the same point I was standing), this makes the closer objects (like hands/weapons in FPS or main character in third person) appear awfully split or out of my eyes' focus, causing headache.

I am not sure if there are any general rule for this, and I know that I can save the setting with Ctrl-F7, but is this setting saved for each specific game or globally, meaning if I have a great set up for Just Cause 2 and saved it, will this set up the same for Bfbc2 as well or can I have different profile for both?

Convergence settings are per game, its saved in the registry so you can export them when you upgrade drivers. Depth sadly is a global setting - something that could do with being changed as you want more for fps, less for rts etc.

Well, in BFBC2 I setup about 30 % depth then took off my glasses and used the sniper scope for reference. Then adjusted the convergence just so that the back of the scope was slightly doubled, hence with glasses on only slightly sticking out of the screen. Served me well so far. I get nice depth plus good pop out when debris is flying all around. And the sniper scope looks so real when only slighty out of the screen... like you can grab it. I don't have JC2 so I can't help with that game. :)
Cheers.

Yeah as i was saying in the games that arent made for 3d vision sometimes you need to put the depth at a low level as it will have graphical issues such as ghosting or things wont allign right , but generally if its a made for 3d vision title i like to put depth at 100% as it gives the best detailed look .

Each game is different , just mess with the settings a bit and do whatever looks best to you.

Personally the way i map everything is on the number pad . 1 and 3 are depth 7 and 9 are convergence and i map everything else just random numbers on it.

When adjusting its best to just look at the screen with the 3d glasses off and i usually set the amount of depth i want ( depending how often ive been using 3d vision as its uncomfortable to just jump in after not using it for a while at 100% depth ) and then set the convergence to be lifelike , in otherwords whats in front of me would look like its in front of me.

Being able to change the settings is another reason i really like this product , although its nice not having to change anything sometimes too.

You guys have been very helpful. Thank you so much! :) I'm gonna try that tip about BfBC2 sniper rifle scope reference and see if I can get a better 3D effect that way.

If someone has been playing JC2, please share your 3D setup and tips/tweaks here. Not sure what I should be seeing for (as it is currently great, but I would always welcome improvement) and I'm hoping to get both depth and pop out effect on this game too.

At least the 3D setting saved (Ctrl-F7) is saved per game in the registry. I was concerned that it took both my convergence and depth setting the same for all games (global) and that would be messy since it seems the setting for every game is different.

At the moment i am playing Just Cause 2 in 3D and have set it up by the following:

-Set the Depth between 70-80%
-Increase/decrease (using Ctrl + F5/F6) the convergence until the top of his shoulders are 1 image or as close to 1 image and not 2.

you can tweak them more to your preference, and save the setting using Ctrl + F7

However with this setup, most of it will be depth, but if you look at the guns and grandes on him, they should be popping out of the screen.

If you choose the main gun, and turn the player around so the player is pretty much facing you and the muzzle of the gun is facing you. If you look at the gun the muzzle of the gun should be poppoing out of the screen.

Hope that helps and hope to here ur comments.

W4J, I tried this last night. Not good for me. I set the depth to more than 50% (60-75%) and no matter what convergence I set, I always get double vision/split image on either the closest object (my character, aiming or not) or objects/boxes/flags/road lines/etc in midrange or further away. It is incredibly annoying. Setting it to 50% still produce these double images, but I found out this setting is the most bearable for me.

The way I did it is get a turret (from boat, heli, posts, etc) and just make them not blurry. Thats all I do. I got pop out effects quite nicely and the objects didnt get split that bad.

It's just annoying that the objects got split and no matter what setting, its always either got split in the closest view, or in the further view. Is it a known anomaly or is it just my eyeglasses/eyesight?
