Does someone have a clue?
With WIP 7? At a specific point of the game, or when something specific happens?
Yes the WIP 7, I have Titan X SLI (not Pascal but the 9xx series) on Win7
It tries to launch in windowed mode (as always) then I hear some bip noises (bip-bip bip-bip) and the windows closes itself
WIP 7: https://s3.amazonaws.com/masterotaku/Resident+Evil+2/RE2_WIP7.7z
- It changes StereoTextureEnable to 23 instead of 27 (the game will ask you to apply changes). I had unknowingly left it at 27 for some tests (visually no difference), and it was probably the cause of convergence breaking graphics.
- I commented a TextureOverride that was guilty of crashes in the first boss fight. That was a manual one that coincidentally didn't crash in situations after that fight.
I hope you can kill the boss now, lohan_0903 :). I did it again after removing that texture override.
If the convergence problem still happens, try deleting all contents inside "C:\Users\XXXXXX\AppData\Local\Temp\NVIDIA Corporation\NV_Cache".
Just got this game since I've read rave reviews, and due to your WIP fix getting positive responses. And I can confirm it's looking great!

Question: Is there a variable to control subtitle depth? With high convergence, the text sits in the middle of the models...would love to pop it out in front.
Also, since I've got an HDR display, I'd be happy to help test the HDR UseVendorExtention=Enable fix...let me know if I can help.

Just a quick update from my side:
Could play for hours today without any issues. This game in 3D Vision is an absolute gem! Definitely one of my alltime faves!
At the end of my gaming-session I ran into another scene that always gives me a freezing crash. I guess it won't be a problem to bypass this scene by just deactivating 3D Vision but since you wanna know masterotaku here it is:
It's the scene where you obtain the parking garage key-card. For me the freezing crash occurs either when you solved the power-supply riddle (exactly at the point when the "unlock cell-door"-cutscene is about to begin) or a couple of seconds later when you notice the voice-recorder in the journalist's jacket and it plays the recording.

Yes. Open "d3dx.ini" and search the "x = 0.2, 0.4, 0.6, 0.8, 0.92, 1, 0" line. You can add some negative values to make the HUD and subtitles pop out, when dynamic HUD isn't used (like cutscenes when DoF is enabled).

Thank you. I'm not far from that in the story, so I'll make sure to use the save spot near that place to test it.
By the way, I have just fixed a rain shader (bright rain when you use the flashlight outdoors) that for some reason I though it was a one eye problem. It was an easy fix. I'll upload the update today, even if I don't reach the crashing spot. Mr X is making me play slower than before, lol.

WIP 8: https://s3.amazonaws.com/masterotaku/Resident+Evil+2/RE2_WIP8.7z
- Fixed rain when using the flashlight outdoors.
- Fixed contact shadows (yay).
- Some more shaders added after trying more graphics combinations.
lohan_0903, I didn't reach the part where you are. I'll try to do it tomorrow.

I have finished and PM'd the Enable fix files to masterotaku so that he can try them out. Let me know if you see the in-game HDR option enabled while 3D vision is on with that HDR display. Otherwise these files won't be much help to you. The HDR option needs both UseVendorExtention and UseOptimizeShader to be Enable.

Some reason WIP is worse than 7 for me despite clean install, and the fix still breaks on convergence change. I am using pretty much near to max graphics settings minus the forbidden ones so I wonder if it's related.

Quick update:
I bypassed the crash inducing scene (the scene where you obtain the parking garage key card from the journalist) by disabling 3D Vision and after that went on using 3D Vision.....
The next freezing-crash scene is the Alligator-fight in the sewers. The game crashes when you have to run towards the screen with the chasing alligator behind you.
