Test with Ori and the Blind Forest:
- Using 3Dmigoto 1.2.4 crash the game using Tridef
- If i use 3Dmigoto without Tridef, the game launch OK and i can see the green overlay from 3Dmigoto (stereo disabled message), i can hunt shaders, disable and all.
My initial conclusions is that 3Dmigoto is not 100% compatible with Tridef.....using 3Dmigoto without Tridef will work on games for hunting and all for AMD/Nvidia Cards... So i think for make Tridef and 3Dmigoto compatible will need work for both sides...maybe is needed to change some stuff in the d3dx.ini....i don't know.

No, pretty sure he is a graphic modder. We had a fairly lengthy conversation about it, and he was actually planning to release a lesser mod that didn't involve shader hacking because of the AMD support. Game was Dirt Rally.
i just do a quick test....what happens with Tridef?? (i update to last version), now all the games give me a error "This game did not use Direct3D 9, 10 or 11..." All games just to work fine.
The only game i can fire up with Tridef, using a custom profile (S3D, no P3D), was "Dying Light". This is the results:
- Using Hunting = 1 or 2 (and press Num0) don't shows the 3Dmigoto overlay, also can't hunt using hunting = 1
- ShaderFixes and ShaderCache are created
- Using export = 1, actually dump shaders in the ShaderCache
- Shader in the ShaderFixes are not apply in the game, all shadows are wrong (using Hunting = 0)
- I test with and without nvapi64.dll
- Using 1.2.4 version of 3Dmigoto
To do more test with others games, i will have to sort out that error of Tridef.
Big, big thanks for giving this a try, really appreciate it!
I think your experiment is good, doesn't require AMD cards to try the Tridef side.
As DarkStarSword notes, the actual key aspect to being able to fix games using Tridef will be access to the stereo information. This is going to be driven by them as the middleware that produces the alternating eye views.
Now, foolishly, I just assumed that there was some sort of API or way to get this info. It's not a particularly good reflection on them to be calling out NVidia for proprietary interfaces and hardware- when they aren't documenting their own.
So, it looks like the first order of business for this would be to contact them and see if we can get even an NDA API for their stereo info. I am more than happy to work out how to get this working in 3Dmigoto, but only if someone else can talk them into it. I lack the time and motivation to convince them to do the right thing.

BTW, since we are talking about alternative 3D display approaches, I want to see what NVidia does with 3D TV Play. We know that they are doing some sort of big rewrite or new approach, and it will be very interesting to see what they ultimately show.
If it's just a new validation server, then that will be a pretty big blow, because 3D TV Play's 720p limitation is pathetic in today's world. I actually expect them to fix this problem, but we'll see.
If they don't fix this problem, and it's just more lameness, then that would suggest it's time for one of us to write our own version of 3D TV. The connection to nvapi as the backend output is not all that complicated relative to something like the 3D Driver itself. Making something generic that supported all logical formats at the end of the pipeline is a fair amount of work, but definitely doable.
With an open-ended display approach, we could then run 3D on anything, instead of being locked to a few components here and there. The 3D compatible hardware is still being produced in the TV world, it's just not well supported.
Anyway- idle thoughts. No point in doing this until we see what happens with 3D TV Play, but it's an option worth considering.

bo3b....if any test is needed i can do it.
Like i say before, our MAIN ASSET is our 3D fixes, so i'm totally support the idea to do a version of 3DTV Migoto...jejeje....i'm not a programmer or have the knowledge to help in that part, but i can help testing and contributing with ideas.
Every year LG/Samsung/Sony/others release new 3DTV's....and i think is not going to stop, is a standard for TV's market. So with a proper software that support SBS/TB/FP/CB mixed with 720p/1080p/2K/4K will be PERFECT (i play Trine 3 SBS 4K, no problem at all and looks fantastic even in a 1080p TV)
We will have to wait if 3DTV Play surprises us...hope so, but coming from Nvidia, we can't expect so much.

That sounds like an awesome idea Bo3b. I'd happily pay for what you suggest.
Hell I'd even pay a small amount for every 3D fix I love 3D gaming that much.
Maybe a kickstarter?
I'd love to upgrade my projector to a 4k version to be able to game in 4k 3D on my 130" screen.
You might as well as get started now Bo3b as I feel we have more chance of Jesus Christ coming down on a chariot of fire and coding than Nvidia.
Look how long it's taking just to sort the activation server out and ROG swift debacle out. Both of which are still not fixed.
Nvidia are too busy making car dash boards and VR but they'll soon realise when they start losing their bread and butter customers.
They clearly do not give one shit about 3D or their customers who bought into all their propriety tech.
Actions speak louder than words. (Not that they give us any words either, but you get my point.)
We've been asking for this for years! 4k TV's have been out for 3 years and the only upgrade we have had is fake 3D and broken activation servers!
They've had their chance (as far as i'm concerned) and they blew it!

Don't really disagree that NVidia has been dropping the ball lately, but for me at least my expectations are so low it doesn't bother me. I'm past expecting them to do the right thing, and am only hoping that they don't fatally break something in the 3D Driver itself.
But... this 'activation server' is taking a very, very long time, which is what makes me think they might be doing something larger. And why it's worth waiting. Even doing the impossibly stupid outsourced software development, I can't see just activation taking this long.
Once we see what they've been up to, we can decide.
In the meantime- someone motivated to get TriDef working with our fixes should contact them. It would be a big win for them to have access to our fixes too.

I'm also hopeful that they are expanding the resolutions supported by 3DTV Play.
But I'm now thinking that a lot of what they are doing is revamping their servers for their subscription based gaming service.

The service runs $7.99 a month and has a trial available.

I'm very happy to see what your plans are guys. I will support with testing whenever possible.
Question: As you guys are into coding is there any chance to find out how to edit the Tridef profile?
Opening it up text editor is just a bunch of symbols but I think there could be important information in there.

Hi guys, like whyme466, I have created a lot of profile for tridef community, I give a lot of my personal time for it. The possible 3d migoto fix apply to the tridef software is a pretty bad ass idea. But we need that tridef dev to give us a advanced tools for editing profile. In is current state the shader analysis modification possible in is current tools is almost nonexistent or inadequate. The next game engine give pure headache for making it work and more and more often impossible. Simply the possiblity to make work 3d migoto correctly with tridef is even more impossible and represent a very hard challenge even for pure genius like nvidia modder or tridef dev, just for a second imagine the hard work that represent. The most scary things is that directx 12 will come pretty soon...I really hope some help from tridef dev, I so want the advanced tools for editing profile...For the big question nvidia or amd, nvidia gpu is probably the best shot.Personaly, i am stuck with amd, my sony playstation 3d monitor is not compatible with recent version of 3d play...

Actually, no, this is not all that hard to get working on Tridef, but it does require that they open up their API to provide us the stereo texture we need. If you can, try to convince them to simply release the documentation. They don't have to make any new code, it's just a closed environment right now, so we have no access.

If you can help in the Tridef part, try to talk with tridef staff to share some info about the API and stereo textures. Maybe sign an NDA.
Also you know more about Tridef, another important part is games actually start in 3D using Tridef. I try 5 DX11 games, and only 2 works (Dying Light and Ori)....others i get a crash (Crysis 2, Crysis 3, Mad Max)....so i don't know what's the issue. The crash was "This game did not use Direct3D 9, 10 or 11...." i'm use the last version of Tridef and i remember test Crysis games before and they works in that time.
For Tridef we need some Generic profile (with the less intervention of Tridef algorithm or injections), the fixing part is doing through shaders with 3Dmigoto.

Oh, The crash "This game did not use Direct3D 9, 10 or 11...." is really annoying, its mean that tridef software stop trying to recognize the directx of the game, the software think the game is not a directx 9, 10 or 11 game. Most of the time, When the game is really use directx and we get this message its cause by the launcher of the game or the way the game switch in fullscreen mode (somes games use a fake fullscreen mode that make crash tridef software). The problem with is current tools, we dont have access to a way to force tridef to keep trying recognize the directx reaction or better force tridef to apply 3d even if is not recognize all aspect of the directx reaction. But... the generic safe mode profile sometime can apply 3d when we get this crash, did you try it ?
I dont know how exactly work 3d migoto but something modify how the game is open or the directx reaction itself and make tridef sotfware misunderstanding the directx reaction. The weird thing is somes games dont have this crash...but it is a good news, this is probably just a bug not an important hard incompatibility
Yes I will try to contact tridef staff to ask for some information about the api and stereo textures

Thanks! great!
That crash was using real fullscreen mode in game....i have to set in all games using nvidia, because i use 3DTV Play, no real fullscreen = no 3D. The 5 games was testing with the Generic safe mode profile (first test, later i try with others profile with the same issue). The strange thing is with the previous version of Tridef works just fine (i update to last version before test), but i don't remember what was that previous version :(

As I indicated in posting #13, I created a formal TriDef support request, with a link to this entire thread on October 17. TriDef responded that they forwarded my request to their engineers on Oct 18 (I hope either Simon or Daniel respond, if they are still working at TriDef). In typical TriDef support behavior, I have not heard anything more. All the tech support people who communicated directly with me left the company last year.
I also created an AMD support request, encouraging addition of HDMI 2.0 hardware and software support to their new products, and support for TriDef in the investigation of an open API, allowing community fixes using AMD hardware. They indicated that my request had been escalated to one of their experts. Again, no further feedback.
I plan to send a brief message to the TriDef CEO, in an attempt to create top-down support for this effort, beyond my bottom-up tech support request.
By the way, my DX11 games are generally working great with TriDef (and 4K interleaved 3D display). I just finished Blood Dragon, and I am now play Road to Gehenna DLC for Talos Principle, both in DX11 under Ignition. Crysis 3, Assassin's Creed 3, and many others look good, as well.

But... this 'activation server' is taking a very, very long time, which is what makes me think they might be doing something larger.

But I'm now thinking that a lot of what they are doing is revamping their servers for their subscription based gaming service.
GeForce Now is being called the Netflix of the gaming world.
The service runs $7.99 a month and has a trial available.

You can see that they revamped the shield store page.

Question: As you guys are into coding is there any chance to find out how to edit the Tridef profile?
Opening it up text editor is just a bunch of symbols but I think there could be important information in there.
