BenQ W1110 DLP & Nvidia 3D Vision and/or 3DTV Play setup, connections and formats.
Hi folks,
I have been gaming for many years with the 3D Vision Kit and my 120HZ monitor (and love it) but am moving my pc into the lounge room so I will have the room/opportunity to use a projector.
I'm looking at the BenQ W1110 DLP in particular (http://www.justprojectors.com.au/benqw1110.htm) but in terms of configuration I'm a little confused.
I want to be able to play some games and watch some movies in 3D (my pc has a blu-ray player but I watch 3D films via files through the stereoscopic player) but also watch 1080p (non-3D) movies and tv shows.

I've read this http://3dvision-blog.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=2784 which says to play 3D games I would need to use my Nvidia 3D vision emitter and glasses, but that I could use the projector's DLP 3D glasses to watch 3D movies played by stereoscopic player using frame sequential.
The specifications for the projector say it supports and is compatible with Frame Sequential: Up to 720p, Frame Packing: Up to1080p, Side by Side: Up to 1080i/p, Top Bottom: Up to 1080p

QUESTIONS
Would the maximum res for playing 3D games be 720p or 1080p at 1920 x 1080?
Would I connect the projector to the pc with both a hdmi cable and vga cable?
Would it be the case as described by Using a 3D DLP Projector in Stereoscopic 3D Mode with a PC that for games I'd use my Nvidia glasses and 3D emitter but for films I c/would use the projectors DLP glasses?
Would it be necessary to purchase 3DTV Play or would Nvida 3D Vision only be needed?
*I have a GTX 480 but am considering upgrading to a EVGA GeForce GTX 980 Ti Classified ACX 2.0+ 6GB which says to play 3D games I would need to use my Nvidia 3D vision emitter and glasses, but that I could use the projector's DLP 3D glasses to watch 3D movies played by stereoscopic player using frame sequential.

EVGA GeForce GTX 1070 SuperClocked, Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R Motherboard Rev2, Intel Core i7 950, G.Skill Ripjaws F3-12800CL8T-6GBRM (3x2GB) DDR3, OS drive: OCZ Vertex 2 3.5" 120GB E Series SSD, gaming drive: Samsung 840 Series 250GB SSD, Windows 10 Professional 64bit.
The 3D Vision emitter acts as a product key and unlocks 3DTV Play for free, as long as it remains plugged in.
3DTV Play can be purchased for $40 as a stand alone product and can be activated on 2 PCs.
When using 3DTV Play, the Nvidia emitter is deactivated, requiring that you use the display manufacturers glasses.
3DTV Play only works via a HDMI connection and the Display must be HDMI 1.4 compatible.
Hi D-Man11,
thanks for your reply and explaining how 3DTV Play works in relation to Nvidia 3D Vision. I had always assumed they were totally separate products and didn't realise 3DTV Play could be used (given the right setup of software/equipment) if you have Nvidia 3D Vision already.
