VorpX vs. 3D vision fixes? Can we get 3D vision fix's working with VorpX?
1 / 7
Was researching VorpX and it's list of games fixed for stereo 3D is pretty big and I'm wondering how one guy could fix all these games and also make them VR compatible. Anyone else think he's using the fixes from here and just adding VR support? If so I think he would be in trouble if it was somehow proven.

Maby it Was the vorpx guy doing the extensive traffic on the helixblog ?
Or is too conspiracy theory like

As bo3b told us that all the fixes are about 5 GB and a complete dump of it will not explain the huge traffic @ one day.
I dont think that migoto fixes are simply be transferable with adding VR to it ^^
MY RIFT-S will arrive in 4 days and ill aloso have a look @ vorpex and its fixes.
I think VorpX is working like TriDef with profiles.

"vorpX guy" here:
Some users recently made me aware of a few slightly outlandish posts re vorpX here. This however finally goes a tad bit too far to be left uncommented. Feels odd to post on a competitor's forum, so if a mod has an issue with that, I would totally understand. Let me know.
Just to be crystal clear about this: vorpX could not even use any of your 3D Vision communtity fixes if it wanted to. It cannot replace individual shaders. Providing such replacements based on game shaders would create a plethora of copyright issues with the original shader authors, i.e. the game devs.
BTW: the same copyright problems apply to your shader fixers, who are all wandering on pretty thin ice, even if they don't do their fixes for profit. So be twice as thankful to them as you already may be for taking the risk of some game dev seriously disliking what they do.
That being said: the amount of time and dedication some of your communtity members put into fixing effects for stereo gaming is staggering. Many of these fixes surpass what vorpX is able to do in that in regard. Just like they surpass what 3DVision can do.
In theory however I could add the functionality required for shader fixes like the ones your community provides. Unlikely that the same fixes would be re-usable though.
I'd like to invite any shader fixers to contact me directly if there is interest in something like that. There is a contact form on the vorpX page, I'd rather not post too much here on the nVidia forum for obvious reasons.

Welcome to the forums and thanks for taking the time to post.
Your software looks simply amazing.
I myself unfortunately do not use it due to really bad motion sickness that I get from just playing games using 3D Vision.
I plan to wait until I can buy a motherboard with GDDR 5 support and a HMD with a very large FOV :)
One more thing while I'm here: after thinking about this for a while I wouldn't rule out that maybe there is a way to make vorpX work with the tools you already use with 3DVision now. Don't consider this any form of announcement at this point, but I'll take a closer look. I'll let you know if that yields any results.

Man between here, VR Discord and Reddit..the stories people fabricate about VorpX amazes me.
Funny thing is from my experience 9/10 of the peoples bashing VorpX turn out to be outright liars who don’t even own the software.
Never fails...haters gonna hate.
Glad you came to defend yourself, Ive been a happy customer since 2015.

Are you sure? Shaders are decompiled in real time, so it's reverse engineering. Isn't that considered "fair use"? In any case, fixing games can bring more customers for those games, not less.

Thanks! Even if the same shaders don't work, the needed fixing formulas may be the same. If this can be a future possibility of fixing traditional games, count me in, maybe (whenever I get a VR headset, that is).
I have a question: how are games fixed for geometry 3D currently in VorpX?
Shaders are decompiled in real time, so it's reverse engineering. In any sort of commercial environmemt things might look different though, so I wouldn't even consider providing replacement shaders with money being involved.
I have a question: how are games fixed for geometry 3D currently in VorpX?
Not by changing any shader code (see above). Don't want to go into any technical discussion, sorry. As you probably can imagine that limits vorpX's abilities in regard to fixing glitches though. Your shader replacements are obviously the better and more effective way, which makes supporting a communtity effort like yours sound intriguing.
But, as said above, don't consider this any form of announcement at this point. I'll see what will be possible.

Ralf those fools in the 3D Vision forums talk so much crap about your product and haven’t even bought it. I wouldn’t do anything for those fools.

Let's just say you have a member on this board who is highly proficient in making exceptional impertinence sound exceptional well mannered.
I also would consider the original post of this thread very slightly off the mark. I'd say outlandish is a pretty friendly description for completely baseless accusations without even the slightest hint of evidence.
I'm not quite sure what you try to accomplish though. I obviously had to reply to a 100% baseless accusation here, and while thinking about it could imagine to support you and your cause in a way that would benefit everyone. If that isn't wanted, no problem.
If you need someone to argue with, please search for someone else. I'm not your guy.

I'm actually interested in VorpX but I was assuming that the fix were of the same quality of 3d vision fix's. So when you say geometry fixed games, the effects are still broken? You're not fixing on a per shader like 3D vision? Can you please elaborate?
My apologies then as I knew that it would be impossible to fix all those games on a level that the shader hackers here do, and came to a premature conclusion that you guys were taking advantage of the work all the shader hackers do here.
A team up would be amazing I think. I love VR. I love 3D vision. I'd love to see 3D vision games in VR with head tracking.
thanks
