Arguments regarding the "quality" of the signal transmitted over digital cables like HDMI and DVI are the same arguments that Best Buy uses to con people into paying $100 for Monster Cables when they can get buy a cable for $10 off the Internet that performs exactly the same. The signal either gets from output to input or it doesn't. The timing sources are also at both the output and input, so if a signal takes too long to get from output to input, then its the same as a erroneous signal.

Hi,

I've just bought this monitor and I'm loving it, therefore I don't understand the audio connectors that came with it??? I've connected the audio in using the provided audio cable to my PC audio out and I hear no sound coming from the monitor speakers. I really don't get it?? If I'm doing something wrong, please let me know.
I've tried both audio connectors, in and out, and still I hear no sound. Does this Monitor has built in speakers??? If so, what do I have to do to make it work?? I know my PC audio connections are working correctly as I have 2 Bose sound systems connected to them and playing sound perfectly.

There are no speakers on the AW2310, the green audio stereo jack is only an output to external speakers for audio passed through the HDMI input. Its a very, very, very low-end solution for people who want to use this panel as an HDTV, maybe for a console or if you output via Nvidia or ATI HDMI and use their integrated audio on some of their newer GPU, but in that case you would not get 3D.

Thank you, that clears my doubts. Stupid solution....
Do you keep Dynamic contrast activated for general and 3D use??? I'm keeping it activated and also the overdrive, the image seems betters, not to brighty for 2D use and brighty enough for 3D gaming/movies.

My AW2310 is supposed to arrive tomorrow. I hope it lives up to the good things I've read about it so far. :)

Ya its pretty lame solution but its better than nothing just in case. I would still rather it not have speakers though if that meant another $20 on its price tag or worst, an ugly unbalanced bezel to accomodate the speakers.

As for Dynamic Contrast, I used to disable it but now I keep it enabled. Its only for 2D anyways, in 3D Vision its off and you can manually adjust Contrast although Brightness is locked at 100. The Dynamic Contrast kinda works backwards anyways, in bright background it cranks up brightness/contrast but in dark settings it turns everything down. This is mainly to compensate for the TN panel's poor black levels and to minimize any noticeable backlight bleed. In general it works well for movies and such, but makes the screen overbright on white backgrounds and web pages.
