Hello,
Having Nvidia Verde 296.10 and GTX460 with clean installation on my notebook, as i rememeber, in previous releases there were "Nvidia 3d Photo Viewer" or kinda, however i now only have "Enable 3D Vision" and "Disable 3D Vision" under Nvidia Corporation folder in Start Menu.
However pressing Enable 3D Vision brings nothing and no menu, no wizard, and there is nothing related to 3D Vision in Nvidia Control Panel though. Note that Nvidia 3D Stereoscopic service is running in services.msc. So Why?
Clue: Going to "C:\Program Files (x86)\NVIDIA Corporation\3D Vision" and running nvstwiz.exe shows a message box that my laptop's screen is not 3D qualified. I know it however i wonder why pressing "Enable 3D Vision" brings no dialog box with same result / information that would indicate my display is not 3D capable.
So, is absence of 3D capability of my screen the reason of happening nothing when "Enable 3D vision" is clicked through start menu?

Hello to all, I have the same problem and any advice would be much appriciated. To give an insight; I have never used 3D before and out of nowhere i wanted to check it out(cause i got 3D glasses). I have a gforce gt 425m btw. I tried it without updating the drivers and with updating the drivers; same result(I have 296.10 right now, so the latest). When I click on "enable 3D Vision" nothing happens. From what I've read, it should start a "3D Configuration Wizard". But it doesn't show up. About a year ago, i remember disabling the stereoscopic 3D, but i don't remember what i exactly did. So I researched a little and found a thread with the same problem. Here it is: http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=221078 . It says there that I can restart the stereoscopic 3D service from services.msc. It was already at "automatic" and the status is "started", but when i start task manager theres no service about 3D stereoscopic vision, nor there is a process about it. I've also read that there should be an entry like "Stereoscopic 3D Funlktion" on the left side of the NVidia control panel. I don't have it. So I'm lost right now.
Edit: I also tried that nvstwiz.exe which gave me the same result as kimiraikkonen(guess f1 drivers need computer help too). It says: "This laptop's panel is not qualified for 3D Vision."
Edit2:I uninstalled using "Revo Uninstaller" and reinstalled the new drivers. It still reacts the same way.

I wonder the reason, same, why nothing happens when you click "Enable 3d Vision", what i 'guess' is my notebook must be connected to a 3D-vision ready either via HDMI or itself to configure, can it be? And What i found out is that 296.10 is much less stable than 285.62.

What laptop are you using? (manufacturer, model, hardware, OS, ...)
Does the laptop have a 3D-able Display? (120Hz-Display)
Or are you trying to use a HDMI v1.4 3DTV with the laptop?
Has 3D been working before with that laptop?

I'm using "ASUS N53JQ" geforce gt 425M with Windows 7. I think it has the 3D ability. I've never tried it before cause I didn't have glasses and now I have the cheap kind of glasses(without a USB). I think, it doesn't have anything to do with the hardware, cause a couple of people have had the same problem(as I've read from other threads). I think it's software related. And I think it's about the stereoscopic 3D service, and the process. I have many theories but no solution.

As the Asus website says, this laptop does NOT have a 3D display, sorry.
To use Nvidia-3D-Vision you will need a true 120Hz Display-panel and the original Nvidia-3D-Vision glasses.
If your laptop has an HDMI-Output, the only chance for you is to connect a HDMI v1.4 3DTV and the 3DTV-Play-Software by Nvidia (seems to be bundled with your original-laptop-drivers).

Thanks Flint [or Clint :)] for your detailed answer. My Asus G53 also is not a 3D Model thus i only have chance to use 3D output via Hdmi plus paid Nvidia 3DTV software?
Does it also mean that my 3D Vision installation was redundant?...as i also do NOT see any entry in NV Control Panel's left pane though 3D Stereoscopic Service state is 'running', plus as i stated, clicking on Enable 3D Vision brings NOTHING.
Should i get rid off 3D Vision as my notebook isn't bundled with NV 3D Vision and its glasses?

Only the Asus G53JW has a 120Hz-Display and should have bundled the 3D-Vision glasses allready.
The G53SW and G53SX can't use Nvidia-3D-Vision.
But the 3DTV-PLAY-Software should be bundled allready with all three G53. So if you connect a supported 3DTV to the laptop, the Stereoscopic-Option should appear in the Control-Panel.
My Girlfriend owns the big brother, the G73, and this is the way it works for her.

Flint Eastwood, thank you for your response. Here is the link to the nvidia geforce 425m: http://www.geforce.com/hardware/desktop-gpus/geforce-gt-425m . It says there that there is NVidia 3D-Vision in geforce 425m. But It needs a 3D able Monitor I presume, which it looks like my Laptop doesn't have. I do have an HDMI-Output, but now I need a 3D TV. So Home 3D is out of option for me for at least 3 years or so. I will stop the Nvidia Stereoscopic service from the services, even though it doesn't show up on active services.

Of course, the 425M would support 3D-Vision, but only if the other hardware supports it too. But laptops with 120Hz-Display or special connectivity(Dual-Link-DVI) are very rare.
My old Dell M1730 with 2x 8800M GTX was able to use 3D-Vision, because it had a Dual-Link-DVI. I was able to connect a external true-120Hz-Display and use it with the Nvidia-3D-Vision-kit.
But it was the last laptop with DL-DVI, as far as I know.
There are a few laptops with a "DisplayPort"-Connector. It is possible with some restrictions to use a 120Hz-Display with them - over a special active "DisplayPort to DL-DVI Adapter".
As you can see, Nvidia-3D-Vision strongly depends on that Dual-Link-DVI connection - it's the only way to send 120 fps in 1920x1080 to a display.

Whats the point of a 3D-supporting Graphics Card when no other hardware has 3D capability. I mean, to be able to have 3D, I would need a TV and 3D Vision Kit, which means I need to pay more money. It's like saying, here buy this car, it goes up to 100 kms in 5 seconds, but wait you have to buy the tires seperately, if you want to be able to do that.

I don't understand your point.
You can save billions of documents in your PC, but you can't print them, if you don't have a printer.
You can have thousand hours of music in your PC, but you can't listen to them, if you don't have speakers.
With Stereo 3D it's the same.
Your GPU can offer the fastest and smoothest Stereo-3D output, but you can't make it visible, if you dont have the qualified hardware for it.

Hi Flint,
My notebook is G53JW-XA1, yes it is NOT G53JW-3DE which means mine has no built-in support for 3D-Vision.
1) As you said it's possible to get 3D output via a 3D-ready TV using HDMI (v1.4) if we have 3DTV Play software, and i neither got a serial nor a CD bundled with my notebook package related to 3DTV Play software, only traditional driver CD which has no impact on this issue, so i don't know how to activate 3DTV Play software for free. Can you elaborate on this please?
Though my G53JW-XA1 is NOT a 3D model, how can i claim my 3DTV Play activation for free? -to use with my 3D-ready TV?
2) Finally, important question, IF i choose (and i have to) getting 3D display output via HDMI+3DTV Play Software combination, will my Sony or Samsung or Philips LED TV has to be Nvidia 3D-Vision compliant and provide 3D-Vision glasses? Or the glasses and the kit bundled with TV are enough for me to use 3D display with 3DTV Play software?

With the 3DTV-Software you just need the glasses bundled to the 3DTV. But go sure that you get a model supported by 3DTV-Play, as the driver checks the connected display.

So, is absence of 3D capability of my screen the reason of happening nothing when "Enable 3D vision" is clicked through start menu?
Thanks for the clarification!

Thanks a lot.

For your laptop it makes no sense to keep the 3D-Vision-set, sorry.

Really glad if i get answers for these two above.
Thanks, i appreciate.

With the 3DTV-Software you just need the glasses bundled to the 3DTV. But go sure that you get a model supported by 3DTV-Play, as the driver checks the connected display.
