Future of 3D Vision Support (Official announcement from NVIDIA)
Hello everyone,
Excuse my ignorance but keeping a driver nvidia (compatible 3D vision)
We can still play our old games in 3D vision?
This applies to the next new drivers that will come out?
Go read the very first post of this thread for your answer.
No "future" drivers past 418 branch. (whatever that actually means. Because it's still supported in the latest driver.)

i7-4790K CPU 4.8Ghz stable overclock.
16 GB RAM Corsair
ASUS Turbo 2080TI
Samsung SSD 840Pro
ASUS Z97-WS3D
Surround ASUS Rog Swift PG278Q(R), 2x PG278Q (yes it works)
Obutto R3volution.
Windows 10 pro 64x (Windows 7 Dual boot)
Sad news indeed. Well, I guess I will be stuck with 418 branch and will not upgrade my pc anymore - I'm glad I upgraded it couple of months ago so not so much harm there. Good thing in this disappointing situation is that my backlog for 3D Vision games is HUGE and I will be playing them for a very long time.
If there will be kickstarter for separate driver I will give my support - it may not be much but at least it's something.

Any successful future effort MUST include some foundation for growing this community (in business, one is either growing or stagnating) - some ability to work with currently available or emerging hardware. 1000-2000 3D Vision users is MUCH too small - considering the quality of the enormous library of fixes and the wonderful immersion of 3D Vision on a large screen. This current community is too small to fund much development, either.
I recommend integrating a large fixed virtual 3D Vision screen with higher resolution VR HMDs like Vive Pro and Pimax (potentially high res Windows HMDs, as well). Note the VR continues a slow but steady growth (see https://www.roadtovr.com/vr-headset-growth-steam-biggest-leap-yet-steam-survey-january-2019/, for example). I suspect that at least half of these new users would be interested in 3D Vision gaming in a virtual screen. Ideally, a next gen emitter/active glasses pair could also be developed to support a broader range of devices, like 120 Hz HDMI displays.

I'm not sure if the discussion so far was very revealing for them and could help them to decide weather starting a kicksarter project etc. could have any chance... Personally I would be happy to donate and a few others wrote the same. But perhaps a poll (located on Helixmod?) maybe with different pricing models could offer a better picture as not everybody wants to read and write in an extended (and still growing) forum thread?
About stocking hardware for the future: are there 3D monitors that support both 3D Vision and "3D TV mode" (working with SBS input, etc.)?

My original display name is 3d4dd - for some reason Nvidia changed it..?!

Some people mentioned contacting Nvidia support? Whats the best way to do that regarding this issue?
You can either send an email on start a chat session at https://www.nvidia.co.uk/object/support-uk.html. Takes just a few minutes. I feel it can only help our case if everyone on the forum raises their concerns and also I feel we should all sign a petition. Thanks in advance
Will contact them. Where would be a good place to start a petition?

I know for a fact that some users have no clue about this! Spoke yesterday to a few friends that use 3D Vision and they had no clue!.
If you want to raise the awareness a bit, maybe Paul with 3DFixManager could help us. For example, every time 3DFM starts to show an initial Dialogue SHOWING THAT 3D Vision is discontinued after Branch 418 and possible a link to the Petition (if we decide to make one) so everyone can sign, if they wish
OR
even a link to NVIDIA Support or such.
I don't know what the content should be like, but I think 3DFM could help us with spreading the word to the normal 3D Vision gamers, that play and don't look on the forums or read the tech news.
Just an idea!

1x Palit RTX 2080Ti Pro Gaming OC(watercooled and overclocked to hell)
3x 3D Vision Ready Asus VG278HE monitors (5760x1080).
Intel i9 9900K (overclocked to 5.3 and watercooled ofc).
Asus Maximus XI Hero Mobo.
16 GB Team Group T-Force Dark Pro DDR4 @ 3600.
Lots of Disks:
- Raid 0 - 256GB Sandisk Extreme SSD.
- Raid 0 - WD Black - 2TB.
- SanDisk SSD PLUS 480 GB.
- Intel 760p 256GB M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD.
Creative Sound Blaster Z.
Windows 10 x64 Pro.
etc
We as a community need to build and maintain an open-source alternative to these drivers then.
Along with the great work from team Helix we should be able to enjoy S3D for a long while if this can be made to happen.
Also, to the guy who spoke about SBS: that's half-resolution S3D. Still works but is a bit meh IMHO.

I had opened this thread on the Pc gaming subreddit a few months ago, where I got a lot of feedback and a lot of people who never used 3D vision to try it out. Or at least, research more about it. As a result we got an influx of a few new users on the forums excited about trying 3D vision. https://www.reddit.com/r/pcgaming/comments/a8otye/nvidia_3d_vision_tech_and_community_are_very_much/
However, with this news it will all fall apart. There is people already posting again on it regarding the shutdown of 3D vision by Nvidia. Maybe we can reach out to Reddit with a new thread to start a petition, DSOGaming, PCGamer, etc. I always thought that if they know what 3dmigoto could do and how awesome it is, they could probably write an article about it and also on Helixmod blogspot.
:/

Hint... Nvidia Support
