ASUS VG278H: The "Emitter not connected (error)" Issue
Hi folks. My monitor, which has worked very well since the end of january when I got it, this morning upon being switched on has decided to give me the red error of the dead emitter message in the OSD. It's the first time I see or hear about this particular problem happening after a certain period of time and not right from the start. I was aware of it and thought to be safe from it, but alas. It seems there is a possibility that no old vg278h is immune. I don't know of any solution to this issue, might have to rma the thing, gotta wait for asus support's answer, a clean reinstall of drivers did not help. Needless to say, I am devastated, I can't play in 3d as of now. It is certainly a tragic feeling that I wish to no one. As it stands I may have to play in 2d for who knows how long. May the gods show mercy upon our souls.

hard to say... looks like the OSD is bugged, some options are greyed out. not sure if bypassing the integrated emitter would be enough. the monitor itself does go into 3d mode though.

Ok so last night I unplug the monitor's power cord before going to sleep, and before turning it on this morning I shot some compressed air at the emitter area. No idea what did it but the monitor woke up working perfectly. My friends, I don't remember being as happy as seeing that green light turn on. Disregard my 2D thread, to hell with 2D lol. Had some fun with Bastion this weekend though.

Wanna know the weird thing? Tonight for the first time I clearly dreamed I was gaming in 3d, I even remember adjusting the convergence and all.

After 7 years of going from unlucky to terribly, unjustly unlucky with my computer hardware, this major issue fixing itself feels particularly good.

Souns like you may have reset the monitor by leaving it off so long. Glad u gotvit sorted. Also it meant u got a chance to play bastion. That game is rather special!

Asus support tells me this issue can be resolved with the All Reset function in the OSD, didn't work for me though. Also I don't believe unplugging does the same thing as this since my other settings were saved. Anyways, fingers crossed it doesn't happen again.

edit: ok it happened again today. unplugged the monitor 4 hours and it's working again. something is causing this, I'll investigate but I think it has to do with leaving the monitor to sleep for a long time.

Hi friends, the dreaded red emitter not connected error happened to me too but unfortunately the unplugging trick did not work for me. I gradually worked out the solution after numerous tries of re installing the drivers and i think that i figured out the reasons behind it too, at least at my end. First the reason. I was downloading some game and so i left my pc on for the entire night. During that time my monitor went into sleep mode and stayed that way for the entire night which must have messed up the 3d vision set up. Secondly i think its the dust which gets under the emitter area failing the signal passed to the emitter as someone in the blog mentioned shooting of compressed air around the emitter area might solve the issue for most of them. Now what worked for me is , i tried to complete 3d vision setup by connecting my old 3d vision 1 emitter but i stopped half way of the setup and disconnected the emitter, Then i completed the setup normally (with internal emitter) and suddenly my emitter green light started. I don't know what really happened but i think letting my pc stayed on sleep mode for so long might have caused this error. I must mentioned that prior to the setup i installed the latest drivers which are 314.07, i hope it will help those who could not get their emitter working by unplugging the monitor, providing they have old 3d vision 1 emitter.

Just an update (from the scary future of 2016!). I, too, had the IR emitter light refuse to come on my ASUS VG278H, after gaming all day yesterday in 3D. No amount of driver updates or system restores (Windows 10) would fix it. The monitor's on-screen setup (System Setup -> Information) indicated in red text that the the IR emitter was not connected (odd, since it's built into the top of the monitor!). Pivoting the emitter up and down did not help, either. So, I physically disconnected the power cord, reconnected, and voila! The Information screen no longer had grumpy red text! Whew!

My VG278H has other issue. When I scroll, I can see a diagonal line across the screen which messes up text/picture where it goes. Its not noticable if I dont scroll. Is my monitor dying?
