Am i going to go blind now? ;) and lightboost... Danger for eyes?
i just got my acer 27' 3d vision2 monitor today.
so i installed the latest driver (301Beta), loaded up colorprofiles and started the 3D Vision Wizard.

Everything worked fine until i got this medical image test.
i was sitting on my couch about 2 meters away from the 27' monitor and didnt see the box. clicked the wrong image and it said i musnt use 3d vision. i tought WTF and started the test again, this time sitting in front of my monitor. now i could cleary see a "3d" square coming out of the picture (although it didnt cast shadows as on the picture on the right (the one you should choose if you want to complete the test..)
so my question is, is this normal or should i send the monitor back again (bought it for 3d vision2)

also whats with lighboost? do i need to activate it somehow or does it start automatically?
i tested alan wake and it looks great (without hud)i have almost no ghosting and a very nice 3D effect...

Some people can't see 3d thats why their is the test. Your fine if you saw it, you can play games your fine. If you want to adjust convergence go into nvidia control panel. set up stereoscopic display. set keyboard shortcuts. hit advanced. convergence set keys.

k, thanks a lot, im happy to hear that /wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />
i can clearly see a 3d effect and i like what i see!

well i tried that convergance thing you said but it doesnt work in 3d mode -
i can change the depth ctrl+f2/f3 but i cant change convergence even though enable advanced in game settings is checked..
i can save the config though (which is in the advanced ingame settings also), i even tried to change it to some other keys but convergance doesnt work in alan wake nor skyrim /blarg.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':/' />

You probably wont go blind from the 3d, you will probably go blind staying up too late playing through your entire game collection to see which games are best :-) My eyes were bloodshot for weeks after I got my 3d setup, and the guys at work thought I picked up a new drug habbit lol.

Lightboost technology should work automatically. It strobes the brightbess of the monitor in sync with the refresh rate of the active glasses to make the image appear brighter. Your monitor may have an on/off/auto option for it, just check through the OSD menus to make sure.

I have the Asus 27" lightboost screen and Lightboost works automatically.

Going nuts on convergence can mess you up to.(This is where people claim headaches and stuff). Going easy with it at first. Some people can't handle it.

You usually change the convergence with the shortcuts when your already inside games, right? Some games dosent allow it, like Metro 2033, other do, like Batman Arkham Asylum. I think most of them dosent allow changing convergence that way...

thanks a lot for the tipps guys!

you where right, convergence can be annoying if overused.
also i checked 3d vision out all night today (till 4 o'clock and bloody eyes in the morning /wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' /> )
this stuff is really addictive! - tried allmost all the 3d games i got here and the best working 3d by now is civilization5 for me... you can clearly see the game was designed for 3d.
just cause2 is almost perfect, but the on screen display gets annoying sometimes also just cause2 got the biggest performance hit for me.
so far convergence worked for all the games i tried out (just cause2, skyrim, alan wake) havent tried it on civ5.
big dissapointment was saints row3 - i guess i know now how it looks like if it doesnt work.

also lightboost is activated automatically on my acer Acer HN274Hbbmiiid and is set to 100% per default.
sometimes the monitor doesnt switch back to 2d mode after playing (im just starting the 3d vision test then and after aborting it it goes back to 2d mode again)
also i get almost 0 ghosting - i only get ghosting when convergance is high and depth is above 50%.
im very happy with 3d vision and the monitor (monitor has got some bleeding though - which can be much more annoying in 3d mode then in 2d mode)

overall im very happy with what i bought (even though my eyes hate me by now)

I've been using 3d vision for years now. No damage to the eyes. Your eye muscles will get stronger, you'll be able to play longer. :)
