Geforce 3D Vision and Intermittent Flashing
  3 / 4
Ok update for me.

I took out my older Gigabyte p35c-ds3r. Put the same CPU q6600, memory blah blah and my gtx 280 and lol World of Warcraft does not flicker one time. Now I am at a loss. Could it be the chipset X48? See with the X48 if I am not in the city no flicker. Yet if it rains it really starts to flicker. But now with the older board .. nothing I can now crank everything back up with no flickering anywhere. hmmm

Edit: Ok at a loss here. See with a new install of Vsita 64 I had flickering. So I tried the gigabyte p35c. I just stuck the same drive with vista installed. Vista just updated the drivers I rebooted and no flickering. I put the drive back in the X48 lmao and now no flickering at all. I had all drivers up to date. All it did was install for 35 chip.. anyway..

Thought I would update this. I still get flickering in WOW like 1/2 as much. The 8800 has none compared. Better than it was.
As i posted on the topic DPC latency causing flickering.. I have a gtx280 and have zero to no flickering (maybe once every 5 minutes) unless I try to run two gtx280's in SLI (then it is every 10 seconds) .

I did check my latency by the way (download program http://www.thesycon.de/deu/latency_check.shtml ) and it seems to run 250us up to 1000us without SLI.

Just wanted to make sure all the facts are out there for a solution which I hope also fixes my SLI problem.
What does your DPC latency look like with sli enabled?
I'm having the EXACT same problem. It has NOTHING to do with lighting or drivers or anything like that. Lighting would be flicker in peripheral vision. Our problem is the glasses shutters turning of and back on and not being synced at the right speed. My guess is the problem is the GeForce 200 series cards. I had my glasses working with my 8800 gts with NO problems. I installed my BFG geforce gtx 280 and all of a sudden i had problems. I RMA'd my glasses and the new ones flicker even more. I'm going to try and put in my 8800 gts again to see if it fixes it.
Lighting can cause more than the peripheral vision flicker you mention. IR receivers quite often have trouble with light sources shining on them. For example an extreme case is a VCR with direct sunlight on its faceplate won't receive IR commands. The flashing IR LED light from the remote isn't very bright when compared to direct sunlight. Another issue is compact fluorescent lighting actually flashes and tends to wash out IR receivers. I.e. fluorescent room lighting or other LCD monitors could interfere with it. I've seen people get a new super bright LCD TV and fight for quite a while with their older equipment wondering why their remote control was suddenly unreliable. (LCD TVs and LCD monitors are backlit with fluorescent lights.)

Anyway, other people should at least perform the test of turning off all light sources to rule it out. This may be the problem for a few people struggling with flickers. I doubt the 8800 will flicker, many people seem to have done that test.

I think this hits the nail on the head. I can get away with choosing the setup that is suppsed to get along with other IR in the room at night, but not during the day when I try to use my setup in a bright room (the brightness isn't an issue with the TV because the Samsung LED DLP is very bright).

I still have to test this some more, but I did find out that I had trouble controlling my devices with my Harmony One remote when I turned off the setting for compatibility with IR.

I hope Nvidia adds an option to adjust this IR compatibility setting (or maybe it is a simple registry hack) without having to go through the entire setup to get it.

Hmm I have a 280, and I've seen the flashes as well.

Doesn't happen very often though, but still..

I also have my cpu over clocked from 2.8 to 3.88 ghz..

Running at 120hz.. haven't tried the other refresh rates..

Can't narrow it down..

Will try different positions of my emitter.

I think it boils down to the type of motherboard you have. I recently upgraded my motherboard and started geting the flashes constantly, so then i placed back my oldermotherboard back together and no flashing at all. I recently upgraded my specs and installed 8800 GTS 512 for PhysX acceleration. My primary video is GTX280 and it's not a SLI configuration. To my surprise I've got the same problem with my 3D Vision. I tried to disable 8800 through device manager - didn't help. Only removing the card from system solved it. It's quite a dissapointment since the coming Cryostasis will support both PhysX and 3D Vision. And I'm afraid that my GTX280 won't be enough for this.

I checked it again. My system was overclocked so I ran the stability test (Prime95) and it gave be BSOD. After I downclocked the system until it became stable I checked 3D Vision with additional 8800 GTS 512 again: problem has gone. So i guess overclocking was the reason in my case.

Cheers.

I also have this problem with just the right lens.

I had the same issue on my old Mobo, just bought a new mobo and cpu and am still having the right lens 'blink' randomly (once every 2 minutes or so).

I've tried removing ALL drivers, disabling SLI, and plugging into different USB ports, still no hard fix.

Really don't think it is a glasses hardware fault, I've had them working intermittently correct, but for no apparent reason they blink randomly.

I do have my wireless router, wireless mouse, and my cell phone (droid) in the same room.. but even with all those things (mouse discluded) removed, the blinking persists.

I really think this is a driver issue, and not a hardware issue. Anyone else come to any conclusions?

PS: I'm using 2x 8800GTX sli, asus p6t6, i7 overclocked to 4ghz, 6gig ram (my signature is my old PC setup)

Also of note, the 3d Vision drivers are showing 197.13, but when I install them for windows 7 64 bit, the Nvidia display drivers are for windows 7, and the 3d vision drivers are for windows vista... I downloaded the FULL CD option, maybe there is a problem with not having windows 7 support?

Been checking this thread twice a day... no one has a fix? 600 dollars of my money is being wasted right now, I want to use the 3d, but I might as well get a refund while I wait for nvidia to fix the issue.

Hi there,

I didn't read the 2nd page so sorry if this has been mentioned:

Turn off ALL processes that hook the drivers in someway - such as fan speed mods, rivatuner, evga performance app and so forth. These applications appear to mess with the sync timing for some reason.

I never experienced this horrible flashing until I installed Rivatuner. I didn't clue in as to why it was happening right away, but after a day I realized it was only after installing it that the flashing happened. Totally intermittent and very game breaking. I shut Rivatuner down and now it never happens.

Hope this can help

For me the flashing in the right eye disappeared when I connected the little pyramid to a different USB port (on the same PC). Weird.

Hi

I am also experiencing flashing , im running 3 x 8800 gtx in sli, when 3 way sli is enabled i get flashing , i filmed with a camcoder the effect, here is the link on youtube, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d7sy5DZzUoU, im playing left for dead 2, when sli is disabled , the flashing goes away. the flashing comes from the glasses. i also have a quad sli machine, 2x 9800 gx2, and with quad sli enabled, there is no flashing.
