Which GPU to get for HTPC and 3D movies?
Hey guys, Ive lingered these forums for about half a year, just never signed up.

Anyway, I got a new 3D projector for my living room (tried it on my PC in my bedroom and its amazing!) So I need a new cheap HTPC with GPU that is powerful enough to silently and easily play 3D movies.
I'm really not sure what to get, anyone have any suggestions? cheers :)

I think a GTX 260 would be a good choice. $50 to $70 on ebay. It'd easily be able to handle the 3D movies and some light 3D gaming if you ever wanted to.

If you want to play 3D Blu-Ray, you need a Geforce 400 series or above. The older ones don't have the MVC hardware decoder.

You can still watch 3D blu-rays with a gtx 260 but you won't have the benefit of hardware decoding so you'll need a fast dual-core or quad. I had hardly any cpu usage watching a 3d blu-ray with my gtx 275 and q9550 cpu.
