Asus VG278H 27-Inch 3D Full-HD LED Monitor won't Work with Windows 8
I purchased a Asus VG278H 27-Inch 3D Full-HD LED Monitor to use with my EVGA GTX780 video card. The monitor comes with the glasses and has a built-in emitter.
Now I learn that monitor's 3D function DOES NOT WORK with Windows 8? I went back to the seller's website and as a small footnote it says (AMONG OTHER THINGS) works with VISTA and Windows 7 but does not mention of Windows 8.
Contacted ASUS via their LIVECHAT function and HAROLD (from ASUS) asked me 2 questions.. what cable am I using? (TOLD HIM THE ONE SUPPLIED WITH THE MONITOR) and what operating system am I using (TOLD HIM WINDOWS 8 64-BIT). Harold told me their website does not mention this monitor working with Windows 8.
End of story. Harold didn't even say GOOD-BYE. Guess he hung up on me?
So I returned the monitor to the seller. Still can't believe it won't work with Windows 8 but guess it is true?

The monitor worked in regular mode. I could not get the 3D functionality to work.
Does 3D work for you?
it does work in 3D:

check the pics with built-in emitter lights on.
read through the article, the guy just followed the standard route of enabling 3D vision from Nvidia CP.
I'm sure if it didn't work with Windows 8 other users would have posted that it didn't by now.
To enable 3D Vision you would need to use the Dual Link DVI(d) cable, is that what you were using?
Those internal emitters can be buggy and sometimes require the user to unplug the power to the monitor whenever the emitter does not turn on, thus resetting it.

I agree that it doesn't make sense that this monitor would not work with Windows 8. Harold with Asus live chat just simply would not talk to me any further to try to assist me with my problem. It is interesting that Asus has never updated their website to show that this monitor is intended to work with Windows 8.
The emitter light never did come on the entire time I had the monitor. The idea that you have to unplug it to reset the emitter never occurred to me.
I did power off the monitor using the on off switch but I never just unplugged it.
