So I've tried alpha 3 and it looks incredible, amazing work! However when I try to run it on 720p, 3d turns off and a message says that 1280x720@120hz doesn't work, try to use 1280x720@60hz instead. I don't see any option to change the refresh rate, and at 1920x1080 it works but my 560ti is a slideshow, any ideas?
Try to install 1.04 patch
I'm already using it.

There still is something terrible wrong with one of the shaders (I expect a pixel shader and probably the shadow one...)
Just look at Geralt's forehead:

This was taken at the beginning of the game where you are first introduced to the card game...
You can also see the difference in color grading all around the scene...

Preliminary notice: I am an ignorant in the art of fixing 3D games! (therefore a thankful fan of you, Helixmod people and apologetic for potential (and mostly probable) naivety)
My observations after installing the Alpha 0.03 version (Flugan's for Win 8.1) on top of Patch 1.04:
1. Mainly noticeable during night time, there is an un-immersive radius of light affecting the proximity of Geralt. It is like he is wearing a torch... but he is not...
2. I am still at the beginning of the game but I've discovered a cave flooded in impossible sunlight. (No holes in the cave to naturally make it possible.)
3. Another recently discovered cave has no shadows. It's unnaturally bright inside.
4. There are no shadows in the interiors. Well, there are some dark geometrical shapes on the walls and objects surrounding the light sources, but they are appearing then disappearing with camera movement.
5. When raining outside it's showing in the interiors too...? The falling drops are not visible, but on the floor (at least in one eye) rain drop circles are noticeable and water is running down the walls. (I'm trying to lie and explain myself it's just bad insulation... ;))
6. Trails, in mid distance, are ghost-y.
7. Wet terrain's shine looks too sharp?
Again, being the ignorant I am, I don't know what is fixable and what it is not.
You might have already noticed these anti-immersive issues, but I felt I have to drop this weight... ;)
Respect.

Well spotted and well explained issues. I`ve noticed them too but i am not sure if all of them are our concern. The rain drops inside buildings are definitely game`s engine fault.
Also Mike mentioned about some effects being switched off so they might partially affect visuals - like that plain looking cave interiors.
I also recommend to keep AO to medium (SSAO) because sometimes the higher one (HBAO) can cause some kind of blurry, ghostly artifact.

Hello all, thank you once again for the great fixes, truly amazing already, even at this early stage. For those of you who might still be having issues with random crash to desktop, I disabled hyper-threading for my processor and it seems to be more stable, just thought I would throw it out there in case someone else wants to try it.

Thanks for the info.
I think that the lights in the cave was fixed, but not sure about details. Might only be working on Win7.
In any case, please keep in mind that this is alpha-quality. We know there are going to be glitches and problems. The first few weeks of any game are generally rough. For some reason game devs don't even bother to finish games now before they release them, so we are all beta testers, even without 3D fixes. Us early adopters always take extra arrows to the knee.
It'll get better in a couple of weeks, and after it stabilizes, Mike will release the full, higher-quality, fix on HelixModBlog.

we're all paying customers and we desire 3D
has there been an official or non-official response regarding 3D? if they'r eno willing to support it, are they at least willing to support the helix team with shaders and things like that?

I did install Flugan's latest update.
Genuinely, I can't stop thanking you enough for your great work in keeping 3D alive.
I guess, I hoped too intensely, before release, that Witcher 3 will be real 3D ready [based on the developer's history and the strongly advertised NVidia support. (I suppose, I need to stop connecting, in my mind, NVidia to the 3D gaming, due to the lack of interest they are showing lately)].
I hoped so much so that this was the first title I have ever pre-purchased.
Therefore the impatience...
But your words, about the alpha-quality... are just so refreshing!
I will have to force myself to stop going into Gerald's world until you guys make it ready for full immersion.
Luckily, meanwhile, thanks to you all, there are other worlds to immerge into.

No official word, and the 3D thread was merged with a generalized thread, including stuff like asking for different potions. So that sort of suggests- punt.
Mike contacted them to let them know we have 3D partly working, and they are talking with him by email, which is more communication than you normally get. So... hard to say. They have bigger fish to fry at the moment, but they did respond to seeing 3D working.

No problem, I think everyone involved in fixing these games is happy to see them get used. It's fun to be able to help.
I think we are all in the same boat- we wanted to believe against all odds that CDPR would be different.
Now we know, same-old, same-old. Consoles über-alles.

Thank you again for keeping 3D gaming going!
Thanks man! Makes it a lot easier for those inevitable system comparisons trying to spot correlations.
It's worth noting that your experiment there is exactly the way to approach these. The temptation is to just try something and call it fixed. That's not a good approach.
Best approach is to see if you can do a back-to-back experiment like you did. Be sure to only change a single variable at a time. HT off, seems to be no problems. (Mentally, could be placebo, right? Also, we can't prove a negative, maybe didn't play long enough.) HT back on- crashes like before. Clear, and proves that HT fixes it for you.

Anyway, running in non-sli with hyper-threading off seems to do the trick for me, hope it helps. Turned SLI back on and crashed to desktop in about 10min. Playing with it off for the last 2 hours no issues.
Thank you again for keeping 3D gaming going!
