Battlefield Bad company 2. Graphical Optimization Help.
Not really a person to complain about graphics but this game is ridiculous. Google doesnt help because every thread where a person talks about it people call the others cheaters and they only talk about reduceing settings for multiplayer advantage.
Well anywho went to play crosshair goes everywhere in DX11. To point where you literally cant play. So I force DX9 and rip it. Looks good now... till I look down at shadows. They are atrocious... I compare to DX11 and dx11 definetly has smoother shadows. BUT draw distance is RIDICULOUSLY low, like 5 feet and they go to blurry mess. So you have kind of mediocre shadows around 5 feet distance from you then past that its so atrocious it looks like two different shadows instead of one. So either when playing 9/11 in 3D its way beyond off. It makes it seem like you have a syndrome wher past 5 feet infront of me in shadows is like you have vision issues but everything else is fine. I literally had to exit game and disable 3D vision cause it looked like it was trying to force stereoscopic even in 2D.
I was gonna play it and post it on helixmod site when done but its literally to the point of distraction. Where I am considering for the first time turning off shadows in a game where it actually works in 3D. Its probably just bad port syndrome with nothing to do since it was homogenized for multiplayer but Im at the end of the line.

Thanks... random ad.
I think the real problem is its like Bulletstorm, I think crosshair used to work. Its huge but it was at right depth I think. Now everyone with 600 series cards can't revert back far enough on drivers. The smoothing in DX11 makes it "playable" shadows kinda but DX9 has same draw distance and no smoothing.
Both bulletstorm[used to work]/ Bad company 2 crosshair looks like this in 3d

But was crosshair working and what card were you using? If you look at picture you'll see my crosshair is like 40% depth off. It actually exceeds my gun which is closest to camera. Im trying to figure this out because I think its something with 600 series but mayb something else.

I'm on a 670. The crosshair renders at the correct depth provided I don't walk right up against a wall, like in your picture. I'm pretty sure the effect of the gun reaching out past the crosshair is unavoidable, since you are standing with your nose pressed out against the wall but your gun is a good 2ft long, so it goes into the wall.
Is the skybox at the wrong depth for you? Its wrong for me but could just be because of my convergence settings, haven't played around with it.

Okay just wanted to make sure I wasnt insane. I play higher settings then average and the problem with its depthbuffer is if its hits something 2D or higher it sticks for like a few seconds. Totally unplayable unless 2D + Depth which I dislike. Thanks for help.
TBH I am now MUCH happier with dx9 version. I disabled and that wierd gun sight depth buffer and just seperate settings. Ill post info when done.
