Just proves that mileage varies! It's clear that the rainbow effect is a serious issue to some. From my own experience with various displays, all I can say is that there is no such thing as a perfect display and compromises are inevitable. For 3d, personally I think that 2x projector passive is the ultimate, but 3d dlp is better than 3d lcd.

Hi all, is anyone here able to get Smooth Video Project to work with Stereoscopic Player? And you need an nvidia pyramid to activate the 3d vision 1080p@120hz output. i Bought my glass polarizers from awater3d germany. they are pretty good high quality but the price is almoust 500 euros. If you have money to burn the screen is the most important part. a good one cost you propably 2k€-3k€ but there is decent ones also for cheaper. i use my own paint mix as it´s fraction of the cost and still gives me results only 3k€ screen can best, atleast thats what i believe. i was gonna make a batch of my paint but i have not gotten to it yet as seems im always busy.

Well iam getting interested in the Optoma Uhd40. With my Benq1070 almost clocking 4000 hours it`s time to think about replacing for another one Though I have a few questions left to be clear -So you need a 3d Vision emitter instead of using 3dtv play? -Is it possible to emulate the emitter? -Are there still problems with reversing eye`s in the middle of a game? -can do 1080/120Hz 3d frame packed? -can do DSR 3840x2160 ? -You don`t need to use Edid override`s? Also iam still amazed by the fact that I got my projector hanging on a Vogel mount on my ceiling (2 left hands)so bit scared to take it all down & figuring it out again. Last time it helped that I basicly red about the Benq for about 4 months. Still dind`t know about 3d lol Thanks for the help

3dtvplay is limited to 1080p@24hz so if you want 1080p@60 per eye. You need the pyramid. There is no random reverse of eye during game excluding Stalker soc. But while starting game engine eyes could be reversed then Turn off, turn on 3d vision keyboard command is enough. Geobox takes 1080p@120/100hz and outputs 1080p@60/50 per eye. I usually preferer 100hz as 50fps is usually more achievable in 3d And you still need edid override to fool 3d vision to think geobox as a 3d vision certified display.

So, looking at the UHD60, it's using the 0.66 chip https://www.optoma.com/us/product/uhd60/ While it will have a native 2K mirror array, it will not have enough bandwidth for 1440P@120 3D http://www.ti.com/product/dlp660te ti (Texas Instruments) lists a max pixel clock of 300 MHz, 1440P@120 requires 497.76 MHz ti does list a max input frame rate of 120Hz

A long time ago I used to run the dual-pj setup directly connected to the computer, but I was restricted to using AMD cards because I had to use Eyefinity to guarantee the synchronization between the eyes. (The normal multi-monitor mode of Windows allows the displays to be refreshed independently, and they will drift, which causes big visual issues in 3D) Only the professional version of 3D vision with Quadro cards has native support for dual-projectors. There is some sofware that can try to output the correct format (the full version of stereoscopic player), however there are usually some sync issues between the eyes if your computer manages your displays independently. If using the consumer 3D Vision, like us, the nvidia driver does not know it's running dual-projectors setup : it's up to us to figure out a way to output the correct image to the correct projector. There are 2 ways to do it : - output 3D content in side by side mode (not available in Nvidia's default driver, 3D Migoto has an optional mode for that but requires DX11 game and there are sometimes bugs), and then make your desktop span across both outputs (You will need to use a special mode to force the sync between the displays using Nvidia surrround, AMD Eyefinity, or you'll get synchronization issues between the eyes : it hurts the eyes a lot ! Or you can use a hardware splitter like a Geobox 3D processor), with or without stretch scaling depending on what your software is capable of outputting. - output 3D content in the usual 3D vision frame sequential format (you will need the Nvidia pyramid emitter to access the "Generic CRT" mode) and then use a hardware splitter (Geobox 3D processor)

Still being reading up on the optoma`s UHD40 projectors. I have still a couple of questions Is there still a problem with "light borders" and "high pitched sound" of the projector? Is it also still possible to run Side by Side format, top/bottom for 3d movies? Also the input lag is a bit higher then my benq1070 , 24ms for benq , 48ms for the optoma. I do simracing (Iracing in 3d) and just a bit worried if input lag can be a difference. Considering the time`s in qualy are about hunderst/thousends of seconds. Being competative and being able to drive on a projector in 3D is one of the most amazing things :) It`s almost the same as driving in my kart because finally you can focus on clipping points because you can see actually depth. I don`t watch mutch movies`s so basicly the upgrade is for the Fulld Hd 1080P 3d function of the projector. Iam now running on my benq resolution 720P , with DSR 2540x2160. Is the Optoma then still a jump up in quality or is the difference not that big in quality in 3D? Because the other option is instead of a projector a new videocard (still doubting) With Generic CRT mode you can still adjust depth/conference like with 3dtvplay? Can you also use 3dtv play with this projector instead of generic CRT? are the hole`s to hang a projector on a ceiling universal? ,got benq hanging on a vogel ceiling mount. Also i find the naming in europe "optoma uhd40" , in america optoma uhd50 annoying. Are there other projectors that can do 120HZ 3D ? Kind regards
