Every time I power up my computer the emitter light comes on as expected, but about 30 seconds later it goes black. If I go into my 3d vision settings after that I no longer have a 3d vision ready option. But if I disconnect the emitters USB and plug it back in the light comes on and the option is available again. The only way to keep it on is to run the wizard and set it up from scratch. Everything will work perfectly after that, but as soon as I power down I run into the same problem on the next startup.
I think this could be a result of the latest drivers, but I'm really not sure since I haven't been playing many 3d games until recently. I may have just not noticed it. Has anyone else experienced this or have any ideas?
I've cleaned installed the latest drivers several times so I'm really not sure what else to do.

I'm assuming you're talking about an external emitter. The only problem I've ever heard of was if the user had it plugged into a USB 3 port. They fix was to plug it into a USB 2 port.
The problem could be with other periphials that you have plugged in, they could be drawing to much power.
If you determine it is the driver, post in the driver thread or open a support ticket to bring it to their attention.

Yes. It's the external emitter that comes with the kit. It's primarily plugged into a 2.0 port but I tried 3.0 too without any luck. No majorly power hungry connections either - keyboard, mouse, headphones and printer. I'm using a pretty hefty PSU too so it does seem odd.

What Display are you using?
Is there anything in the chain between the GPU and Display?
Is the emitter showing up in Device Manager?
How are you connected to the display?
Are you using a 2nd display?
What Display are you using? ASUS VG278HE

You got me thinking about the USB connection and I've been playing musical ports. So far I've had a couple of successful restarts (without the light going out) when I move the emitter to the far left of my four 2.0 ports in the back panel. Not sure why that is. I'm going to give it a few more tries and see if it sticks.

Yes. I have it at 144Hz. The light has been staying on, but my stereoscopic settings revert to 3D Vision Discover after every restart. I'll try changing the refresh rate now and see what happens.

Thought we may have been on to something there, but after changing the refresh rate and restarting, the light went out again and the settings reverted to 3D Vision Discover.
I'm at a loss. Maybe it really is the driver.

Nvidia disable the emitter after the system boots, if a non supported display is detected.
My thought is... that your Display is not being recognized properly. Some GPUs have two DVI connectors on the back, but only one is DVI-D Dual Link. Are you connected to a Dual Link output?
Do you have a driver disc that came with the monitor? You may need to use it to add the display EDID to windows registry.

Thanks for all of your feedback here. Sounds like you might be on the right track, but I'm not sure where or if I can get the correct display EDID for the registry.
The monitor is definitely connected to the GPUs DVI-D out. Unfortunately the disc that came with the monitor doesn't have drivers for the monitor itself, but rather the 301.42 nvidia graphics drivers and a flash version of the manual. I checked on the ASUS support page and the downloads for this monitor are the same.
When I look under the GPU properties the monitor displays as "Generic PnP Monitor" so it does seem suspect.

Also tried grabbing the one from this guys blog:

The name changed, but after I restarted the light still went out.
Hmm. I saw someone post about a bad DVI cable connection being a potential issue and remembered that the cable that came with the monitor was a little buggered up on one end and was difficult to connect. Just tried re-seating the cable to the monitor and so far two restarts with the emitter working and 3D vision enabled. Keeping my fingers crossed..

Guess it wasn't the connection. It worked ok for a few more restarts, but then it the problem started up again. Tried the beta drivers and no luck either. Very strange.
