3D Vision / Samsung HL67A510 DLP Users - need your help
2 / 2
I just wanted to add my voice to this thread, as I do not have the 3d vision glasses yet, but am going to get some soon. I have the a750, so the fact that Samsung has dumped DLP tech and that there are issues with 3D Vision (and the lack of recent official updates to this thread) has me a little concerned.
I hope the lack of responses to this thread doesn't discourage nVidia from working through the issues. We're probably not going to get anything from Samsung, and it is a shame since this is a perfect HTPC 3D monitor. As soon as I get my glasses I will definitely respond.

I'm certainly not qualified to make the determination if the 1.07 drivers actually helped with this as specified the in the driver notes, but I sure don't notice anything too unusual tint wise when playing games with 3D Vision. But since 1.07 is the only thing I've used, what do others think? Maybe we can get this issue considered "closed" by Nvidia and move on to fully supporting the overscan hotfix that isn't recommended currently for Samsung TVs (although I am getting ready to try anyway, since Andrew said we could do a clean driver install to fix it if it causes problems).

The difference for me is completely night and day. The red tint(as shown in my screenshot above) is still there when you view the screen without the glasses, but with the glasses on it is completely and magically gone. I am actually very curious as to what was the cause of the tint and what the fix actually was. Would you happen to have any info on that andrewf?
The red tint was most noticable for me in X3: Terran conflict which is a space flight sim so there is black everywhere. With the glasses off, the red tint is very prominent amongst the background of stars. But put the glasses on and its pure black.

That's basically what I noticed. I haven't even calibrated my TV yet, although I think it is pretty close. It will be interesting to see if whatever NVidia did to fix this was tested on a calibrated TV (if that even has anything to do with the fix). I'm not sure I'd call it pure black now, but I'm still testing things out. I do lose almost every option for LED brightness, etc. in 3D mode on the HL61A750. It has always been confusing to me about how different modes and sources limit or change what options you have in the menus on the new Sammy LED DLPs. Its almost like they tried to idiot-proof it, but it isn't explained anywhere.
As far as the Overscan hot fix, it sure seemed to work temporarily, DoW2 looked great with nothing in the HUD cut off. The test app worked too. But once I switched modes on the TV to another source, something broke even after a reboot. So I'll have to play some more and figure out if it just isn't fixed yet or it is something else.

Hello. Can anyone tell me if you can use Samsung's 3D glasses kit (where the sync plugs into the tv instead of the computer) with Nvidia 3D Vision? I hope I do not have to buy another set of glasses. Thanks.

The wireless glasses with the Samsung setup do not work with 3d Vision, they do however work with IZ3D. You will have to go to there website and pay $5.00 per each driver for each game, but it should work for you pretty good!!!
I chose to get Nvidia 3d Vision instead because it supports more games, and I am hoping that in the future it will support alolt of movies, pictures and all of that good stuff
BTW the reason the samsung glasses will not work is because the IR Emitter with 3d Vision will not work the Samsung glasses. And Nvidia 3d Vision drivers will not recognize the samsung glasses and Emitter

Hi All,
We are in process of improving our 3D Vision support on Samsung DLPs and need assistance from the community to improve the quality of 3D.
Currently NVIDIA has been improving quality and has found that some Samsung DLPs show strong ghosting of magenta, blue and red objects when playing a game with 3D Vision in 1920x1080 resolution. If you are using a Samsung HL 67A510 please performe the following tests.

Run a the NVIDIA Stereosocpic 3D test application at 1920x1080 with 3D Vision enabled and check if you see ghosting of magenta, blue and red objects with your 3D Vision glasses on.

Run a the NVIDIA Stereosocpic 3D test application at 1920x1080 with 3D Vision enabled and check the black areas to see if you see a red glow or its black. To compare stereoscopic 3D on vs. off you need to swich 3D from the menu of the Samsung DLP Menu, do not use the 3D Vision toggle button.
I ran the test and everything looks good to me in the "test stereoscopic 3D". The only problem i have is the red bleeding in light scenes never noticed this when i first started using 3d vision but in the last year i have noticed it in every light scenes (mainly sky scenes)and when i take off my glasses (nvidia)it goes away put them back on its there (this happens in 3d mode or not in 3d mode)in which made me think my glasses where getting old as i bought them when nvidia first released them. I would really like some help on getting rid of the red tinting as its the only thing that is keeping my 3D from being PERFECT. I have uploaded a screenshot taken from Halo 2 in which you can see the bleeding. I would upload a pic of the "test stereoscopic 3d" for you but I am only allowed 10mb upload. These are the settings I am using in my tv pic settings Mode:Movie Contrast:90 Brightness:45 these are greyed out Sharpness:20 Color:50 Tint:50 in Detailed Settings black adjust greyed out set to off, Dynamic Contrast i have off,Led Controll is medium,Gamma:-3,White Balance:0 and flesh tone and edge enhancement are greyed out and in pic options i have warm2 wide pc everthing else is greyed out. Thanks and Peace to all

The red tint is fixed via the glasses. I don't know well it works with the 3D Vision glasses, but my Xpand X102's get rid of the red tint.

This was written in our Knowledge Base Article.
If you are using a Samsung HL 67A510 please performe the following tests.
