Official Thread: 3D Vision 2 and 3D LightBoost Feel free to ask me questions

I have samsung un46d8000 and it can do 1080p@60hz with help of rollermod and chip I had to buy off from him and 3d vision 1 emitter. So far, 1080p@60hz works perfect. Some say it's not true 1080p 3d but the way I look, it looks pretty much same as the one I see on my acer hn274h and resolution is definitely up to 1080p coz I don't see all these lower resolution textures I used to see with 3dtv play's 720p. Still, I can't go to max depth for games like battlefield 3 coz max depth on 3dtv and 3d monitor is different. I need different depth and convergence setting for 3dtv compared to 3d monitor. Usually, up to 40% depth looks good on 3dtv and it gets unplayable above that while 3d monitor 100% depth is playable with huge seperated ghost images.
Anyway, I am still waiting for new acer version of 3d vision 2 supported monitor that suppose to be out by now. Any news on this? I would want to believe halo problem that I had with my returned asus vg278h last year was resolved by now but I still wanna see and compare it with new acer version before I make final decision. :(

How far away do you sit from your D8000? I also have a 46", a Sony, but i set it at 100% depth to get it to look lifelike, but i sit just under 1 meter away. Im guessing you sit much farther away, which causes your eyes to have to stare straighter on and objects in the distance, making them look farther away.
In general, i really like the big screen 3DTVs, over my last monitor, the Dell 2560x1600, in 2D. I've never tried a 27" 3D monitor though. I am wondering if you can pull it closer to give a wider FoV in 3D, complimenting a greater in-game FoV setting, and still be comfortable? Games with a narrow FoV don't bother me on this monster though, im playing Dead Space 2 and just recently played Mass Effect, both having narrow FoVs and they looked fine although i did try to raise it, but i always try that. Input lag on the otherhand is something i'd watch out for, but the one 2011 TV i was able to try (Sharp LE835) was a major improvement over my 2010 Sony in that dept. and it felt like it had as much as my Dell 30" ever did.

I seat about 1.5 to 2 meters away from tv. Only problem I have is that my current setup isn't meant to be played all games with 3dtv due to space problem. I put my tv table right next to my desktop which is on top of my desk. That way, I can use both tv and monitor almost side by side. Problem is that, I can't use keyboard and mouth in comfortable position coz I need to buy another small moving desk or something to put them in front of tv only when I need to play game. I generally use xbox 360 controller to play games when I use 3dtv. I probably will buy new desks and table so I can set things up for comfortable play. As for 3dtv vs 27 inch 3d monitor, I would say 3dtv beats 3d monitors when it comes to play movies but as for gaming, I still think 3d monitor is slightly better than 3dtv. My 3dtv has less ghosting than my 3d monitor but like I said, I can't go to max depth due to huge image seperation that appears from 40%+ depth. I still need to do some more testing but lately, I've been too busy. Usually I just play games monitor coz I feel to lazy to switch display setting and plug in controller etc to play on 3dtv.

When are we getting 120hz 3D per eye gaming!? Now that would be cool. Light boost is a great addition but 120hz per eye would really be freakin nice.

Once someone makes a gaming monitor using RealD's newest technology, we can have the advantages of Active Shutter combined with the advantages of Passive. And what would be really nice is if it used LEDs alone instead of a backlit LCD. Reduced ghosting, improved contrast ration, and a much wider viewing angle, not to mention reduced cost and increased energy effeciency.

I have been waiting for this as well. I heard about it last year spring time but nothing since then. I was expecting a coming out for RealD tech at CES this year but I didnt hear anything about it. Anyone have information about this?

I'm considering a new 3D Vision 2 lightboosted monitor.
The options seems to be fairly limited since I'm also looking at a 27" model.
Going for a HDTV is very new territory for me and I would expect significant input lag.
Both my Benq's the G2400 as well as XL2410T have very low input lag and works well in Guitar Hero without calibration.
My Dell U2410 has pretty significant input lag of about two 60hz frames.
Another blow against buying a HDTV is having to pay the yearly TV licence fee of about $300 USD.
If I were to replace my main 3D monitor with a 3D TV it would become awkwardly placed and the viewing distance less than 1m which I consider far from ideal.
As my main PC monitor a good 120hz TN monitor is quite convenient.
@Shinobier
I'm glad you got rollermod working.
Checkerboard appears to be the best way to play on TV using HDMI.
It is a very good approximation of true 1080p as it only trows away 30% of the frequency area
leading to fever artifacts while running at 60hz.
Very high contrast fine detail is prone to artifacts:

Thanks to everybody using my assembler it warms my heart.
To have a critical piece of code that everyone can enjoy!
What more can you ask for?
Well, my good old Acer is broken once again and since this would be the fourth time it gets repaired - well, lets say that I am a little annoyed and wanna start looking around for another screen.
I wonder though what the word on 24" 3D Vision 2 - LCDs is (since 27" is...well..kinda big)? There was some talk around November about new info maybe being released in January but so far I heard nothing.

The 27" asus isn't actually that large. I had it beside a 24" Samsung 16:10 monitor and it wasn't that much larger footprint wise. It certainly is expensive tho! It certainly doesn't feel/look nearly as big as the 27" Mac displays

One of my AW2310's died so I decided to eBay the other two and buy an ASUS VG278H and I am really happy I did. I was a little nervous reading the negative feedback regarding the backlight issues, but I figured if the bleeding was too bad I would just return it (newegg has such an awesome turn around time). I don't get the same wrap around feeling I got in driving games, but the extra screen size is very noticeable in games like Skyrim and Batman Arkham City. Surround worked pretty well although a lot of my games required config file editing to properly work and I had to dumb down some settings to get smooth gameplay. It is nice going back to one screen and playing games I set aside because of surround issues and cranking up all the graphics settings. I am going on three weeks now and the light bleed seems to be the same as it was when I bought the monitor (knock on wood). The AW2310's had light bleed along the edges, so I am used to a bit of light bleed. I don't even notice it unless the screen is completely black (like Skyrim's loading screens) and even then it isn't bad. I definitely don't notice it when there are images on the monitor. This monitor is brighter and more vibrant than my AW2310's were and the size difference is enough for me to justify spending the extra money.

Hmm... It's already feb and I still don't see acer version of 3d vision 2 monitor on newegg or amazon yet. Are they gonna release it or not? I hope it better have ghost busting 4(asus vg278h has ghost busting technology 3) technology in it since it's coming this late.

Got a BenQ XL2420T 120hz monitor which is Nvidia Vision 2 ready so I just picked up a kit for it which comes later today. I'll report back how good the tech is when I get chance after some good playing around with it! Really looking forward to seeing what the technology is like compared to the nintendo 3DS, which is my one and only other input into the 3D world.

i read the specs for the BenQ XL2420T and it didn't say anything about supporting light boost and looks like it doesn't have light boost built in.id like to know where the acer vision 2 with light boost is also.they should have released the acer by now sigh.been holding off on the asus 27 inch with light boost to see how the acer 27 inch turns out with the light boost.....

@Shinobier

I wonder though what the word on 24" 3D Vision 2 - LCDs is (since 27" is...well..kinda big)? There was some talk around November about new info maybe being released in January but so far I heard nothing.
