3D Blu Ray on a monitor looks really sharp, however the depth isn't great, and its nothing compared to watching on a 3D projector. I can never get away from the fact I'm watching on a 27" screen.
Are the people having issues all trying to watch their blu rays using the NVidia 3D player software? Until 4 months ago I was using Power DVD 11 to play 3D blu rays and I had no issues. Now I'm using a separate player with 2x HDMI outputs because I found out my amp can't switch 3D, and to be fair its much less of a hassle than running it all from my PC.

I picked up a BENQ W1070 just within the last couple of weeks along with a 120 inch screen and before I purchased the projector, I had this very concern you mentioned here. A couple of differences from my previous setup were evident. The toyification effect is certainly a difference, but I realize that it has everything to do with how close you are sitting to the screen. In fact, I can really get a great toyification effect without causing cross eye. Having experienced both a screen and projector, the projector is hands down a better proposition for me. I love the elimination of ghosting (well almost 98%) and the immersive gaming experience. In fact, I find the brightness much better than my Samsung 51 inch plasma. Raising the "light cell" or "brightness" on the plasma would in some cases create a lot of ghosting or double images. This problem simply does not exist with the projector.
But having said that, I can see that it is purely subjective. I just re-visited the Dead Space series on the projector and even though I am running at 1280x720 resolution, I am blown away by the experience. Games actually look much better than they did before and this is also probably the help of the GTX970 and CPU I just upgraded. I've adjusted my viewing distance and I can honestly say that I hardly notice the resolution difference from 1920x1080 to 1280x720. Perhaps, this may be that I have adjusted to the projector now. I won't go back to LED, LCD or plasmas at this point.
The projector is certainly a great option since the price point is in the same area as the plasmas etc...., but this may not be for everyone. Having the right space and environment is important.[/quote]

I am using BENQ 3D Glasses that came with the projector. I got two free glasses when I purchased the W1070. I am using this in conjunction with Nvidia 3DPlay TV. Also, since my last post I have been experimenting with down sampling on games that work with it

Down sampling from higher resolutions to 1280x720@60hz or even 1920x1080@24hz (depending on game) is quite impressive. Also, using SweetFX with different 3D fixes has yielded some impressive results as well. The only thing I don't like about the BENQ glasses is it's physical design and are not as comfortable as my previous Samsung glasses. But this is really a minor issue since the BENQ setup has practically no ghosting 99% of the time. I am sitting back a good 6-7 feet away from the screen and the immersion is unlike anything I've had before and I am satisfied with the graphic fidelity.

@Gatorkea, just curious, did you play with your convergence settings at all during the time you were using the projector? I guessing you did since you know about toyification.

Worth noting that the W1070 doesn't normally come with free glasses. At least, not where I live.
