If Playstation 3 isnt HDMI 1.4 compatable then why wont the Hdmi 1.3 Projectors work with it
Just as the title states. I dont understand why playstation 3 wont work with different projectors that are 1.3 compatable since the ps3 is only 1.3

It added software to make it 1.4 compatible. It doesn't have a 1.4 chip that has the firmware for it. Sony just added it to the OS - the ability to decode AVC MVC codec and tell a 1.4 display to switch to 3D mode when a 3D stream is present.

What Sony didn't add is the ability to output in checkerboard format. It only outputs in frame sequential which is the official 3D format.

ok so sequential is the official format. I figure that they have to come out with some device to make it work with checkerboard. like the 3difer and hdmi input workaround

A 'device' is for Mitsubishi DLP TV's that only accept checkerboard as a 3D input. Nothing for Samsung old DLP 3D ready Tv's. 3difier is for PC's and just looks like crap.

I'm not sure what you are getting at.
