Oblivion says it works good but looks awefull outside!?

Ok in the starting dungeon the game looked good in 3d but outside pretty much everything is at wrong depths and some things are not even in 3d like houses and most of the buildings that make up the capitol city, is this just my system here? cause i searched and some people said it was awesome for them in 3d?

Hmmm

Thats not good. Obviously the crosshair needs to be disabled. ALso the sky and water are messed up.

BUT search the forum here and you will find a sky and water fix.

I have no idea about the houses and things. Though I have not seen vanilla Oblivion I have used Qarl's texture pack which retextures things - though I doubt that would have an effect on the building models. Have you lowered convergence. I needed to, otherwise the bow looks horrible in 1st person...

Can you post some screenies. ctrl F1, they are stored in docs/NVStereoscopic3D.IMG

Oblivion is one of the best 3d games for me. For the water you can disable reflections, but don't know why you are having issues with those other things.

Only things that are wrong depth in Oblivion are water reflections and sky (IIRC) and both can be fixed with a mod (again IIRC). Certainly I never had any problems with buildings.

I fixed it, turned down some graphic settings and now its flawless, i think it was AA from the nvidia control panel that messed it up.

Damn this game is gorgeous in 3d, those flying gargoyle things get right in your face LOL looks so cool!

I just used the sky fix, the water fix looks so primitive I turned it back to normal and just turned off reflections.
Plus I didn't do the bDoImageSpaceEffects thing, because setting it to 0 screwed up all my depth and the game looked positively weird. Leaving it alone still worked for me.
Once the sky is fixed the game is just breathtaking.

Yeap, listen to acidbong... Use the sky fix, but not the water fix. If you use the waterfix you will find that the water becomes unrealistically transparent and also way too bright at night time... Other than that and a slight tendency to ghost, this game is very good 3d

I tried that once and I donno if I did something wrong but it totally messed it up where the ground and other objects was rendered in 2d and some objects in 3d.

Only the "shadow OFF" makes this game look poor. But it is needed to disable more things. A rated "good" game must be a game that is played with all (or all important) graphics options ON, and it is not the case. I think Oblivion is really "poor".

Did nVidia define anywhere what the various ratings mean? (serious question) Also there are two settings above 'good'.

Overall Oblivion looks very good to me in 3D, and definitely a better experience than playing in 2D. A rating of 'poor' should be reserved for games that are really nasty in 3D, with unfixable problems that can't simply be turned off.

If I do not fail in my traduction (sorry for my english), in my computer I have only "excelent" and "3dvision ready" above "good", and below I have "medium" and "not recomended" .
Also "3dvision ready" is not necesary better than excelent, like we can see with Resident Evil 5 where it is impossible to adjust convergence and it makes for me this game only something like "good", or Bad Company where people writes about serious problems (I have not tested this game).

With only 5 califications (not enought I think), "good" mean for me that a game may be playable with only little problems, and I think Oblivion is not the case. I think Oblivion is only "medium" (but it is only my opinion). I think that if a game changes dramatically because is necessary to disable shadows, is not possible to rate as "good", and Oblivion has another disadvantages. For me most games I have played rated like "excelent" are really only "good".

Also would be important to have in mind that if a game reduces a lot of frames playing in 3D also would have to decrease the rate dramatically, because the objetive is to PLAY and fun, not to test if the technology works or not.

There was a nvidia 3d vision driver in the past some months ago that supported better Oblivion (one of the first), but following drivers decrease quality with this game and the rate do not changed (courious). I think people must be more exigent or some of us only will think that there are a lot of Nvidia members writting in these forums.

Edit In my opinion, Close Edit shadows are needed less with S3D as we dont need them to perceive depth. As I have said before, I'm from the UK and clear shadows from sunny days are things that have been known to happen - now and again. When light is defused e.g. overcast weather, so are shadows. Sure there are shadows but they really dont stand out.

It did concern me at first, but after a walk in Cyridil I completely forgot about the lack of shadows.

I have fixed the sky and water using methods above, I have a very low convergence but 100% depth. Everyone I have shown this game to in S3D have been blown away - "I didnt think it would be this good" is a common response.
