low 3d effect when close to a large screen. projector 3d issues.
I'm experimenting at the moment with different screen sizes with my short throw projector, and I'm noticing that massive perceived screen sizes have extremely poor 3d. And I'm trying to figure the best way around it.
Currently I'm trying sitting about 2 foot away from a screen that's about 60 inches. This completely covers the peripheral vision and is extremely immerse for some games. ( I dint intend in keeping if this extreme by the way)
Anyway. The problem is, while sat there, the 3d is weak, but as I move further back it gets WAY better. The depth and convergence both become enhanced, and at 11ft away, it looks amazing. (but the perceived screen size is now only about 30 inches.)
It seems that its all about the relative size of things compared to the actual measurable size of separation. For example, when sat close, the separation could be 4 inches, while, when sat away, its only 1 inch. You would think that 4 inches would be significantly more intense 3d, but its the opposite.
I'm assuming that there is a natural max separation that your eyes should be seeing, probably the same distance between your eyes, and matching this gives the best 3d effect.
Both popout and distance dint really work with a large close up image. Increasing the max depth helps, but then causes the separation in the distance to be something stupid like 10 inches, which seems mad, but works.
I probably haven't made much sense, and typing on the phone probably hadn't helped! Just wondering if others have tried this, and what can be done about it,

Yeah! Doing the "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Nvidia Corporation\Global\Stereo3D" does the trick for!
Just reduce the value ("2c" is mine@100")! Lock up the key and it's done!

We've been asking to be able to change the screen size in the control panel for years, now. There's no way nvidia actually uses their product, because this is such an easy fix to an absurd amount of frustration for anyone who owns a projector.
