Which? 3D HDTV... Advice please ... Gaming ... iracing
Hey team,
Have had a Panasonic 46" HD Plasma for the last couple of years but really want to go 3D now to finish off my Obutto race cockpit ...
Panasonic 3D Plasma's ST30, GT30, VT30 seem best bang for the $$ over here in NZ but I want to use it only as a PC moniter and to use it for 3D sim racing ... prob using 3DPlay.
My system is a i7 930@4.2G, 480GTX SLI's so I know I have the grunt, my iracing sim runs at 1920x1080 @ 300+ FFS maxed out so what is the 3D like with 3DPlay???
Seem to stuggle to get a real answer on how these look in 3D gaming with the 3Dplay ... don't want to buy a TV and get the wrong one :-)
I know the through reading 100's of forums that checkerboard is suppose to be best but the Panasonic only has top/bottom side/side options ... and no Sam's with checkerboard are around here at moment as all are new 2011 models.

To see what 3DTV Play looks like resolution wise [brightness, ghosting, color, contrast issues aside], just turn it to 720p and turn on as much AA as you can. Thats pretty much it. Just keep in mind the 3rd dimension adds a hard [for me] to explain element to that.

I remember in my old ED Shutter glasses on a 19" CRT moniter years ago, that with that system, 1024x768 looked like 1600x1200 when in 3d ... kinda double standard rez so I am assuming a little but at 720p it would look a little like 1600x1200 on a normal pc lcd? would I be close.
Gonna try demo one at weekend but can't take my PC to the shop :(

watch out for brands like this , looks like theres competition but theres isn't .

By rendering everything twice we appear to get a horizontal supersampling, akin to 2x1 SS as the images are combined by the brain. This is FSAA, and combined with a very moderate MSAA looks wonderful. [/quote] - well put
