Taking gameplay movies in S3D? Can we do this with software from the CD?
Is this possible
I would love to see some gameplay examples in S3D especially Metro 2033. I know it the file would be massive but surely it would be possible to stream them down to something far more shareable...

I'd be more than happy to record some as soon as I get enough free time. Hopefully I'll be able to do it without taking too much of a performance hit. Luckily Metro runs in DX9 otherwise FRAPS would be useless for S3D recording (at least currently).

I really wish they would hurry up and release the YouTube plug-in that they have been talking about. They should make that a major priority, because as soon as that happens, there will be TONS of content available overnight. Specifically game content videos, so that people can see what a game looks like in 3D before actually going out and buying it.
Nvidia, YouTube, and Fuji really need to have a sit down in order to develop a plan to make major $$$ asap. Nvidia could release the plug-in for YouTube, and Fuji could market their camera (and lower the price...) to people via YouTube content. Specifically by giving dozens of their cameras away to people that can provide top notch 3D content. Remember that movie Earth (Basically a best of the Planet Earth series)? They should do another one like that but with the Life series in 3D, and release it around the holiday season. If I was in that business, I would already be working on a 3D Blu-Ray documentary to be released ASAP. I am sure that the next BBC series after Life will be in 3D, if not then the next one after that will be in 3D, but the first one to market will probably make lots of money (regardless of quality).

I recorded 12.5 minutes of gameplay from Metro 2033. Uncompressed file size was almost 40 GB. It's gonna take about an hour to encode it at highest quality in 720p (1980 x 720) and be roughly 850 MB in size. I could increase the compression and make the file size smaller, but that would really ruin the entire experience in my opinion. I could also encode a full 1080p version if anyone wishes. I'm sure that one will run close to 2 GB. Anyway, I'll upload the 720p clip to megaupload as soon as I can. I recorded it with slightly increased convergence from the locked default and full depth since I game on a 65" DLP. I'm not sure how the video looks on an LCD monitor in 3D (ghosting) since my Viewsonic is still in the shop.

I recorded a few clips in 3D already and put them on Youtube http://www.youtube.com/user/BlackSharkfr
And you can also download the original files in higher quality than youtube at the mtbs3d forums http://www.mtbs3d.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=2020
But I haven't recorded anything for a while, I would like to avoid showing games that have artefacts, so I only show stuff that is perfect. And it's quite rare to find a game that is perfect or almost perfect in stereo3D. There is some content on youtube recorded by other people but it usually shows lots of glitches and artefacts, and the framerate is slow.
I don't use Fraps, I actually use hardware capture with a Zalman monitor in order to make sure the frame rate is not slowed down in any way (it's the only way I get perfect stereo 60fps capture).

Thank you for a well done footage. It does look phenomenal on the DLP.
The game itself looks very polished and its effects are high octane potent.
I think I'll get it.

The footage shows off how well the game looks without artifacts, but your convergence settings... they're hard !
I mean the video really shows off pop-out and depth and all but for me it looks completely exagerated and i often have trouble watching the video : the convergence setting is way too high for me.
Don't ever show this video to beginners, they'll never be able to focus.

When I get my Viewsonic back from repair I can make better videos that can be viewed on any 3d monitor. Since I use a large DLP, I keep depth at 100% as well as plenty of convergence. Actually I don't think I increased convergence much from the default. Anyway, I'm sorry it wasn't very enjoyable for you. I'll make some more movies from various games in a few days and work on trying to find the best balance.
