Hey folks,
I'm debating whether or not to buy Nvidia 3D Vision 2 Wireless Glasses Kit (942-11431-0007-001)
I owe Acer GN246HL. I read that support for Nvidia 3D Vision 2 is none existent.
I need your input. Should I or should I not buy this product?

Well, I think this is going to depend upon what kind of games you prefer to play, and whether there is enough already fixed games that you'd like to see in 3D.
As a general idea, the 3D Vision is superb. When it works, there is nothing else like it, it's amazing.
Here's our list of games that presently have 3D fixes: http://helixmod.blogspot.com/2013/10/game-list-automatically-updated.html
There are also a handful of games that work out of the box like Tomb Raider and Batman Asylum. Look for the NVidia ratings of "3D Vision Ready". Those don't lie. Anything less than that is not going to be a great experience unless we have a fix for it.
The future doesn't look very good at the moment, as future games more or may not be fixable. We've had a very good run so far, and we don't have any reason to believe we can't keep fixing games, but you know, future- hazy.
The support for 3D from Nvidia is not zero. It's not very much, but it's not zero either. They keep releasing 3D profiles, they also keep fixing 3D bugs from older drivers, like the broken plants in GTA5. They've refilled the sales channel with new 3D Vision 2 kits. Last year they released their Compatibility Mode for 3D (not awesome, but shows engineering and attention to 3D.) They are in fact working to fix the 3D TV Play server problem, it's not just lip service.
So even though the support level has waned, it's still an exaggeration to say there is no support at all. If there were no support, they wouldn't have done those things and just let it rust.
Mostly the future seems grim because the drivers have gone to shit in the last 6 months. The 3D Driver itself is a key component, that if it's busted, we can't really do anything about it. For example, FC4 no longer works in 3D at all on the last two drivers.
The current Win10 driver does not even include the 3D Driver, making it DOA.
Will this get sorted out after a couple of months? Very hard to say as we get started with the Win10 shit storm, I think.
So.... long story short. I don't think anything has really changed from a year ago. People ask this question all the time, and I still maintain my answer.
If you like what you see today, you will have fun and it will be a great experience. Since you already have the monitor, it's easily worth the $125 in my opinion.
But if you care more about the future and future AAA games, we can't guarantee anything.

Sorry for the uncalled comment, but your answer, bo3b, together with the personal and learned experience in this forum lately, just forced me... to question the fabric of this reality...
It feels like living inside a dystopia. Year 2015: for some obscure reasons, big corporations (NVidia, AAA game developers) are plotting against people with two eyes. Although they have the know-how and the technology, they stubbornly refuse to satisfy the needs of those aware and/or enlighten the ignorants. They want to force everybody to live in a two dimensional prison.

In this context, what mostly amazes me are you, the fantastic guys from Helixmod! Your unselfish work and kind support are the only light of hope in this fu$cous reality.
Respect!
The current Win10 driver does not even include the 3D Driver, making it DOA.
This actually scares the piss out of me, seriously stereoscopic gaming is such a game changer. I really can't go back to '3D' gaming without the 3D. Fortunately, I still have a ton of games to play but I don't exactly want my hardware/OS to go 'Legacy' once again like it did with my old shutter glasses/CRT.
I just finished up Dead Space 3 and it was f'n amazing, the 'alien city' ... looking up at the statues, it made you feel there and it made you feel tiny, almost insignificant. The only other tech that has had this much impact on gameplay is dimensional audio, A3D, Dolby Headphone, 5.1, etc. Put them both together and it's gaming bliss. :)

Nothing like necroing a thread out of context. I was correct when that was written, but 9 months later, one would certainly hope that it was viable.
I do have a Win10 install, it's a lot more trouble than my Win7 install. Just to be clear, I'm not guessing when I write stuff, and I don't just parrot other web pages, I do my own research.
