I have been a little concerned about the more limited lifespan of OLED versus LCD/LED, especially for blue light. See http://www.cnet.com/news/seven-problems-with-current-oled-televisions/, an older article, as well as https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OLED. Note that LG's emerging 2016 line features third-gen OLED displays with more efficient OLED materials, also supporting HDR.
Plasma displays, when first introduced, had an even more reduced lifespan, but this display technology rapidly improved over the next several years...
Awesome! Don't you notice way more depth now? Can't beat that per pixel lighting. You get the increabible depth from the insane contrast ratio and add 3D vision on top of that and you have 3D gaming nirvana.
Don't worry about burn in on the LG OLED. I run mine basically as a computer monitor and have NO ISSUE. Check AVSforum, tons of people running it like me and no reports of PERMANENT burn in. LG has an ingenious compensation algorithm that runs when the TV is off, and basically gets rid of any temporary image retention. I've played 8 hours a day with a game like MGSV and zero image retention. It's really a non issue with LG OLED. yes, I've heard Samsung cell phones have had some issues with burn in, but they also using a different OLED tech then LG.

Please can anyone with a 4K LG OLED comment in my other thread about Crosstalk? I'm sure some others have the same screen as me and it's my first passive 3d screen so I'm not sure what's normal.
I've aligned my eyes in the correct place vertically and the screen doesn't seem particularly sensitive to up/down movement, but I don't know what to expect in terms of crosstalk and although I don't notice it watching movies/filmsI do notices in high contrast scenes in games.

Hi there,
I just figured that the color and contrast are much better in RGB mode unlimited than YCbCr444 mode on my 49PUS7100 Philips Tv!
Problem is with the edid overide I made, I have laggy mouse in RGB mode so I have to use the YCbCr444 mode instead.
Could somebody be kind enough to make an override with my original monitor.inf to see if I could have a good RGB mode?
see my original monitor inf below, just replace the jps extension.
Thanks

I also havean OLED, the 9200 and I also get crosstalk with the mod. I have found a way to get rid of it however :)
When running 3D with the mod, press the 3D button and turn on 2D to 3D conversion, the go to the menu and go to 3D settings; now change it to manual, and then change 3D depth to 0 and 3D viewpoint to 0. With theses settings the TV is NOT actually converting 2D to 3D, you can confirm this by going to your desktop and you will see everything is in 2D even though 2D to 3D conversion is on. Now when you run the EDID mod you will have no ghosting! It's like the TV needs to be in 3D mode for some reason or their is significant ghosting. I was surprised this worked so well for me and it will also work for all LG LCD's as well :)

I just picked up a LG 49ub8500 passive 3D 4Ktv for $500 plus shipping, because of this technique. I've been torn between a surround setup and a single 1440p monitor. This seems to blend the two. I figure I'll be able to setup a custom resolution of 3840x1440 on the tv if I want a ultrawide arrangement and the standard 4K for normal gaming. Hopefully that shakes out and the TV will be as versatile as it seems in my head :) Has anyone tried a custom ultrawide resolution on their 4Ktv? If so, does 3D work?

Yep I already try this custom resolution, it works fine in 3D interlieved, but sadly it's exact the same picture as 4k but with 2 letterbox bars, so you have men with little legs...

Haha, well little legs is no good. Maybe using an ultrawide monitor's edid would work. Not for 3D but for ultrawide 2D. I'll definitely fiddle with it once the TV arrives :)

Few months ago I played Rise Of The Tomb Raider with Xbox One & LG-65UC970V (4K & passive 3D) and that was great experience. Few days ago I connected my pc (1080GTX) to my tv and started again ROTTR playing 5 hours. Then I noticed that game supports 3D so I changed game & tv-settings to 3D SBS and ..
WOW, words can't explain how great that was, so beautiful and smooth game. Game internal benchmark result was 46fps. No ghosting, no lag, nothing, only few fps slow downs on geothermal valley when it rains.
Now I wan't it more :)
So I searched and find this excellent topic, thanks to original finder and everyone who has helped !
Now I only have one question (haven't tried yet), does this edid trick work on WIN10 or does it work only on WIN7 because I found this comment below from other site ?
"Not working for Windows 10 due to digital signature!!! Thank you so much for this override. It worked like a charm in windows 7. But once my OS was updated to Win10, it wont’t allow me to do the same thing. The INF is simply rejected. Is there any updated INF for it?"

The EDID mod works great under Windows 10, also. You simply need to perform a one-time Windows 10 driver override step. For example, see http://www.drivethelife.com/windows-drivers/how-to-disable-driver-signature-enforcement-on-windows-10-8-7-xp-vista.html.

THX m8 ! I try this when I have played through ROTTR :)
Yep, let us know.
I still don't have the TV but this tutorial (linked below) supposedly shows how to get ultrawide working on 4K. Hopefully it works.
http://www.overclock.net/t/1564522/i-teach-you-how-to-widescreen-21-9-native-16-9-monitor
yeah, that's what I done... excepted I didn't use the wide 4k res 3840x1620, but I just test with this resolution (including desktop in 4k wide) and it's the same picture again ...
There must be something we're missing...

Hi there,
I have the same monitor but cant make an EDID override work at all, its all still recognized only as Blueray Player.
Would you be so kind to share your best working version fo the EDID overridden 4k .inf file here?
That would be very nice.
