The Witcher 2 in 3D Vision Official thread from NVIDIA

I can confirm this "way" greatly improves performance...
It seems the 3D vision driver/service only improves how shadows are rendered at the cost of 80-90% drop in performance..... Well I prefer ugly shadows and 60 fps per eye in 3D Surround rather than the 5fps indoor... (running a gtx 590 overclocked)

I can live with ugly, but not distracting and wrong depth.

How about drivers that actually let us play the game in 2D without forcing us to go without 3D in every other game? Is that too much to ask for when you spend hundreds on the correct monitor and video card and glasses for 3D? Drivers that actually freaking work?

Just tried it... And it works! Shadows are truly screwed up.. But I can live with that for now... Finally playing this in 3d.
Thank you so much for the work around!

the fix mentioned here screws up SLI for me for some reason.
After disabling the Stereoscopic service and starting TW2 my cards both run at 0 percent causing 1-2 fps making even loading a saved game impossible. Re-enabling it returns SLI back to normal.
thought the patch 1.1 was going to fix the 3d bug...........
Why? It said that surround would get fixed. NVIDIA said earlier that the WHQL release would fix the slowness issue.
Oh, and I'll also point out that it's a beta driver. Of course it's "half tested" - that's what betas are for.
So why did you buy the game so early? NVIDIA announced in the very first post in this topic that the game will need new drivers to work right. They've released a beta version but they still haven't released the final version.
Cut the drama and try learning something: don't buy until you know the game is going to work.

Why buy the game early??? You figure when a game has 3d vision ready stamped on the box.. That it should work properly in 3d!
So not why buy the game early.. It's more like .. Why release the game so early.

Exactly. You can't blame the consumer for buying something that clearly indicates - on the box - that it is ready to work and then find out it does not work.
Imagine that with any product at all... It's not done because it's false advertising. 10fps even with top of the line hardware is far from "Ready".

finally i had a little bit of time to actually play the game and not only read about troubles, bugs, drivers and workarounds. i noticed following: driver 270.whatever worked in 2d really well. i installed 275 beta, worked fine as well. 3d was slow, but 2d fine.
i removed 275 3d vision driver to get a 2d boost. today i installed the driver back again (to try out the alt-tab fix) - and NOW i suddenly have rotten 2d performance indoors. (?) this is strange...
the shadows render correctly in my case, only the water is a bit off (levitating above the ground).

I'm upset to be playing in 2d and having my drivers uninstalled for 3d vision for now but the gtx480 SLI gets me 60-120fps at all times except cutscenes where it seems to go down to about 44fps sometimes. Running max settings except for uber-sampling because it turned the game into a 15-25fps slideshow. I insist on having 3d available within the next week nvidia because the game is truly stunning and I can live with half my 2d framerate for the 3d effect.

Found a nice compromise with the dodgy shadows and the 3d service hack that makes the game look pretty good.
It's simply the trick of reducing the depth to minimum and increasing the convergence, this hides the problems with the shadows pretty well whilst still giving a nice 3d effect!

After disabling the Stereoscopic service and starting TW2 my cards both run at 0 percent causing 1-2 fps making even loading a saved game impossible. Re-enabling it returns SLI back to normal.
Just letting ya know.

i wanted to play this weekend...........
thought the patch 1.1 was going to fix the 3d bug...........but it only left us sadness and sorrow.....
why andrew...... why you abandon us like that.........do you hate us.... do you despite us...
do you feed with our suffering....
how dare you steal our happiness and then abandon It.......
I gave you all I had.............. you wrung me dry..............
When you had enough.. you tossed me aside...............
now I sit here all alone with a half-empty bottle of mountain dew. Wondering if next you'll release
a half tested driver.
i feel used........... like a drunk teenager....... after college prom.........left alone in a dirty
motel 8 without underwear.
