AvP - New Release (Steam) AvP Classic (2000) Not Working GAME OVER MAN
I just bought Aliens vs Predator Classic on Steam for $4.99. 3D Vision toggles on, but says game is UNKNOWN. No S3D, but glasses and emitter are on. :( Any suggestions, tips, work arounds, or bags of Reeses Pieces welcome. :)

"Is this gonna be a stand up fight sir or another bughunt?"

It is probably that the directx version is too old in the classics. They do work great with nvidia old school driver (or: I ran avp2 and the expansion with winxp+6800ultra but avp1 was unplayable because of artifacts) but who runs them anymore. Too bad. :( These are gems! Anyway a new avp is on the way that looks really promising! (seen from someone someone here i think)

It came out in 2000, so it is likely using an old version of DirectX (DX7) or that is no longer compatible with the Nvidia drivers.

Which is what I don't get.... HW acceleration works, ALL effects work, DX was allways made to be fully backwards compatible... why the heck doesn't S3D work???? I mean the old drivers didn't care whether it was DX7, 5, or 3.... Basically they take the scen and render the poligons parallax shifted, that's completely independant of the version of DirectX.......

(that is if HW acceleration on this title is DirectX)

It used to be DX6, but the game was "redone" to use Dx9c instead.

Apparently it does work with IZ3D but it had areas where no depth info is availible and it looks kinda fubared.

I bought AVP Classic as well after seeing the 'updated to DX9c' bit hoping it would work in S3D, but it definitely doesn't work though, and for the record neither does AVP2. The new AVP better do... /verymad.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':verymad:' />
