Problems with 3DTV play and Witcher 3 on projector
I've got a Benq HC1200 projector and with 3DTV play, the Witcher will not work in 3D. Basically what is happening is when I enable 3D, I get the 3D resolutions of 720p and 1080p. This disables the standard 720p non-3D resolution in the NV control panel and with 720p which is some weird res, and running at 120hz. So, many games default to the proper 3D res and they work fine, however the Witcher 3 and some other games are still trying to use that weird 2D res and I just get a message that says 1366 x 720p 120hz is a non 3D resolution, please change the resolution to 720p 60hz or 1080p 24hz. I've tried to set my desktop res as 720p 3D but the game always tries to use that messed up 2D 720p res with that message. When I disable 3D, I get the proper 720p 60hz res back, but then of course 3D is not going to activate. BTW, I have to go through an Onkyo AVR, and that's what shows up as my monitor. Can anyone figure out how I can fix this? Maybe someone can point to where I can install a different EDID override? Thanks.

3d TV play only supports the 2 resolution/refresh combos listed in the error: 720p 60hz or 1080p 24hz

I know. But when I choose 1280 x 720 in game it doesn't work and I get that message. It's defaulting to that messed up non 3d 720p res in the Nvidia control panel. Josh why can't I game in 1080p 60hz? Now with hdmi 2.0 there is no reason we shouldn't have 1080p 60hz 3d as an option. I can game in 4k interleaved 3d which is way more bandwidth then 1080p 3d with my 4k TV. Really silly that you guys can't bother to lift such an old limitation from years ago. Any hdmi 2.0 TV can easily handle 1080 60hz 3d.

okay to be clear you have several games where you choose 1280x720 for 3D but instead of that you get the red error message with 1280x720 (120Hz is not 3D compatible) What you need is a edid override where the 1280x720@120hz is excluded. I need to search that link on other pc. at least you need the tool Custom Resolution Utility to reset

Hi Conan481, I got the exact same issue with my Benq W1070+ and Alien Isolation. I found a similar approach to EnergyCorse, basically ou need to override your EDID with something that contains only 720p@120hz in the available resolutions. Here is what I found on a forum linking some content from this very forum... except that I do not have the original link left (sorry for the original author): 3dtvplay requires me to use custom resolution utility(cru) and delete all resolutions above 720p so i can use dsr 1080p and again select 1080p for in game resolution. Heres my bin file for 720p dsr with 3dtvplay. Working with my projector and sony hmz so i see no reason why it wouldnt work on your system. Audio probably wont work if you have receiver in your chain though.(remove .jpg extension, open CRU, select your 3d display, import .bin, restart computer enable dsr 2.25 in NV control panel and try the game in 1080p) https://forums.geforce.com/cmd/default/download-comment-attachment/64568/;cid=1438240807406-578 So basically download the software CRU 1.2 and download the link above (but you need to rename the file as .bin instead of .jpg) and import this to your videoprojector output. The only drawback with this is that everytime you will want to view stuff on your projector in 1080p you will need to "reset and restart" the override, which can be done fairly quickly with the .exe files contained in CRU 1.2 I hope this helps!
