Headsets that are comfy with 3D glasses?
  2 / 2
I use Astro A40's with 3D glasses, they are comfortable for as long as I can stay awake. 12 hours+ non stop gaming is no problem at all. They are a bit expensive, but I found them worth every penny.

I've owned the Sennheiser PC161s and PC310s and both can be used with 3D Vision glasses if you lift the glasses up off your ears a little. Both those headsets (and the PC151 mentioned in the OP) sit on the ear rather than against the head. My AKG K601s though would cause significant pain after a few hours. Basically anything that clamps firmly is going to be a problem.

Im using Asus Essence One + Beyerdynamics DT990Pro + 3D Vision 2 glasses. I put glasses sides abit higher so that they wouldnt push into head and it feels and plays great. There are different opinions what headphones sound the best. But in comfort I think Beyerdynamics rules them all

(sorry in advance if this is off topic) The best headphones? None. Why miss out on all that 5.1 goodness with a pair of headphones? After gaming with non-simulated 5.1 sound I can't go back to mere Stereo - while standing in front of a babbling NPC or sound effect and doing a 180D turn and - have the sound move with the turn - is immersion that I don't like missing out on. Mark0.

Or you can go for the Razer Tiamat, and have the best of both worlds. Full 7.1 surround, not simulated. Great bass, great sound separation. It may not have Beyerdynamics/Senheiser quality, or the sound stage of a room-sprawling speaker setup, but nobody will hear you play games, and immersion is really perfect (how can you get immersed with a surround speaker setup, when there are cars passing by outside, a dog barking, or the neighbour cheering at the ballgame on TV?!) More on topic, they keep my Nvidia 3D Vision 2 glasses pressed at the sides, so that they are set perfectly on my head but don't even need to rest the bridge on my nose, as if they are suspended. Great match-up. And the best purchase of sound hardware I've ever made.

Mark0.[/quote] Headphones allow you to pick up on all the fine detail sometimes lost with a 5.1 sub_sat speaker setup. I have both as I like to user the speakers mostly for watching films on the projector. Even with stimulated 7.1 headphones sound panning sounds great and you lose most of the stereo left/right cutoff problem with 2 channel headphones. The only thing I really miss is the full LFE effect from the sub, but you get used to it over time. Also, with 5.1 speakers you are stuck gaming on 1 chair, but after getting my rift, HOTAS and wheel/pedals I sometimes need to move my kit around to have the necessary space with everything mounted on a frame sitting sideways across the room. headsets allow you more freedom to do this without having to game with your speakers being in the wrong orientation. My speakers are mounted on the wall and my projector is mounted on the ceiling so I have no freadom to move then. Also, headsets allow you to chat on skype without deafening everyone with your speaker sound :-)

Totaly agree with you guys, a 5.1 speaker system wont ever never comes even close to a good headset/phones. All those lovely details in 5.1/7.1 headphones just kills every damn speaker system without a doubt. The details and dont hearing the outside world as you said cant be matched with a speaker system and im shocked really, to hear some one say such a stupid thing these days, man WTF have you been smoking heh! Back on topic. I myself had these problem with all the headphones I have used, it are hell to use with when you have regular glasses as me to so what headphones are good that dont clamp in those 3d glasses into your head. Allways have been wondering about the Astro A40 so maybe those will do as Foulplay said :)
