Flip horizontal... How do I flip the display hroizontally?
Hi :)

First post here. Hoping someone can give me a simple pointer to help...

I have developed an interactive 3D scene in Macromedia (now Adobe) Director, which is to be implemented in a modified 'Pepper's Ghost' with a GestPoint set up. The Pepper's Ghost trick works a bit like a stereo display system made using 2 displays and partially mirrored glass, except there's no other display.

The 3D scene is built for a large 1360x768 LCD display, and the AV people I'm working with have 'just realised' that they can't horizontally flip the image on the display, and are wondering how easy it would be to "put the software round the other way". I'd rather die in extreme pain than have to redo everything (including building the 3D scene in reverse?) simply so that the image going out the cable is flipped.

Does anyone know the best way to simply flip the display output (in the horizontal axis)?

Regards, Paul.

Check out the Sharp Aquos Series LCD Screens, in their OSD they have a horizontal flip option (perhaps so stockbrokers can read the stock ticker in the mirror while they get ready in the morning ;) ?) although I don't recall their name for it. This may be your perfect solution...

If you are yseing the nVidia stereo driver you can use the option: "Dual VGA with Mirror up/down" theres also a left/right option in there too. Hope this helps.

Hi,
Has this problem been solved for normal windows displays? I need to do a vertical flip on the secondary monitor of a quattro board.
Thankx,

You will need WindowsXP and an older GeForce card (like 7900 GTX) to do this. Download the 91.31 Stereo3D drivers and a compatible set of video drivers (91.31 or close). Then goto the Nvidia options panel under "Stereo Properties" and set the stereo type to "Planar Mirror Left/Right". You need 2 monitors active (like in clone mode) for it to work otherwise you will get a double image.

If the above will not work for whatever reason, then you may want to try a workaround in Director if you can. I haven't used Director in a while so I'm not sure if you can do this. But if you have "Render-to-Texture" functionality there is an easy trick you can do. Simply render the main camera to a texture, and then map that texture to a full-screen quad and just flip the UV coordinates. Thats the ghetto way to flip the screen, but I'm not sure how to do that in Director.

I have a similar question, but in my case I just need to flip a single primary display horizontally.

My situation is that I have built a replica arcade machine and the display is viewed in a mirror.

The software I'm using (MAME) is able to flip the screen in-game, so that's fine for gameplay, but I have to use windows backwards when selecting games.

If there is a solution out there for flipping a single primary display horizontally, (mirror view) that would be great.

Many thanks
David

Hello, I have a similar problem as the person above me. I'm rebuilding a xmen 6 player arcade machine which uses two displays one of the uses a mirror and creates the same problem as the person above me has. So to fix this problem from my understanding of your previous answers is that I need a 7000 series card and use the nVidia stereo drivers. Is that correct?

thanks for your time

I need the same info, I hope the super smart fellows at Nvidia will add this into new drivers, it looks like more and more of us are using it
