So if I had originally assigned witcher 3 profile, then the fix overwrites it?
Yes and no. The settings I put in the fix will end up overwriting parts of the Witcher 3 profile, which may or may not be desirable for other games you use it for. Assuming you deleted the original FFXIV profile I suggest simply reinstalling your driver with a "clean" install, which will reinstate the original driver profiles. I also recommend anytime you are going to reassign a game to another profile, you either export a backup of the original profile if you're going to delete it, or what I actually do is just make a copy of the .exe of the game, assign the original profile to that copy, and then I assign the regular exe to the other profile, that way it preserves the original profile and should I ever need to revert back to it I just need to reassign the orignal .exe back to it.
@Nephilim: Thanks for the feedback, and also thanks for the donation earlier to cover my next month's sub. Very kind and generous of you.
@Necropants: Glad you're enjoying the fix as well. And yeah, about the footprints, those are literally the only thing I've actually gone and disabled. I actually did fix them (but not in the previous WIP), but they still looked rather wrong, despite being positionally correct. I figured they were such an insignificant thing that I just decided it would be better to remove them.
@Everyone else: Again, thanks for the feedback. Nice to know that there's still a fair amount of interest in this title. It certainly deserves it, especially considering how gorgeous it is. I made the mistake of trying DSR 4x setting on it (so 4K downscaled to 1080P), and it's absolutely stunning, so now I'm fighting the urge to get a 2nd 1080 Ti to bring my FPS back up to (hopefully) 60.

Hey Your Welcome DJ-RK. I am enjoying your fix to and it is just so good.. I think it is at a point now where I always wanted it too be thank you for taking the time to fix it..
Most MMO's get little to no love and they are some good looking games out there that are MMO's this being one of them..

in d3dx.ini under PresetGameConvergence I set the convergence to 1.0 and it saves but does not seem to work in game. Any way I can get the convergence to change? I tried setting it in game and then ctr+f7, but it defaults to 5.0

That's exactly where you would want to change it, not sure why changing that wouldn't work. Maybe use the fix uninstaller, and then reinstall and change the d3dx.ini file before loading up for the first time.

For that you would want to change the StereoConvergence value in the Profile section. I had that at 1.0 in the last version, which I've reduced down to 0.6 in this latest version.
Yes, I just said latest version because I'm providing a new release now since I've fixed one of the very last remaining issues: specular highlights, which are light reflections on shiny or wet surfaces. Sadly, I almost preferred how they looked broken, because fixed the light looks a little flat/not very shiny when it's correct, but regardless they're fixed now. Also got more icons added to the auto-depth filter list, and a few other minor fixes.
Oh, I've also added an adjustment button on Alt + [ for how far to shift the nameplates to the left. By default, after pushing them into depth they were a little too far to the right and would cut off several letters, so I used a certain 'fudge' adjustment to push them over a bit, but I've found that under some circumstances that fudge factor changes (can't identify which, though), so if nameplates are cutting off some letters then try using this adjustment key to cycle through 3 different values to see if one is better than the others.

Hey DJ-RK the adjustment worked great for me anyhow.. I can now see what was cutoff thank you again..
I just wanted to mention since it is a WIP that the nameplates still get a bit weird in some positions but now where near as bad before..
Now sure if there is anything more that can be done just wanted to let you know besides that and the fix for the nameplates you have just done this is pretty close to being done..
I don't see much more that is not working looks great too..

Again, glad it's all working well for you and you're enjoying it.
The nameplates occasionally acting up is a product of 2 factors, neither of which can be resolved (within my level of knowledge).
First of which is that the depth buffer that is used to do the adjustment are "borrowed" from lighting and AO shaders, and because of that, it can only be used when some surface which has lighting/AO upon it resides behind the HUD item being adjusted. You can prove this by going to some area which has a lot of wide open space, like Limsa Lominsa, and move the mouse cursor over objects like rocks/buildings, etc, and you'll see that it will be adjusted to the depth of that object. But once you move the cursor away and over an open space showing the skybox and the cursor will revert to a static depth rather than to infinity (which is a failsafe that I programmed in, otherwise it would have no adjustment at all and be at screen depth instead). Unfortunately this will still add a little bit of warping and wonkiness as certain objects go from being adjusted via auto-depth to being adjusted to a static amount as the camera moves about, but like you mentioned it's a lot less prevalent than before.
Another factor is when there are a LOT of nameplates on the screen (usually in Grand Company areas or around large settlement aetherites), and you'll notice some nameplates are at proper depth while others are at static depths. This is because there seems to be some sort of overflow where it seems the dedicated shader for drawing nameplates can no longer handle the amount on screen, so then the generic text shader takes over and starts drawing the rest, and unfortunately I cannot use the auto depth code here, otherwise all the HUD text would be attempting to be drawn using the auto-depth code, and we don't want that.
While we're on the subject of what's fixed/broken, you may have noticed that screen space reflections on water appear to be broken around the edges of the screen, or when viewed at certain angles (a big offender here is the stream running through Coerthas, which looks broken from almost all angles due to how rapid the stream moves, but I assure you the correction is there). That's all just a product of the fact they are calculated in "screen space" and again, well beyond my knowledge of fixing (and probably beyond anyone, save DSS).
Really, the only remaining issue that I've identified, if it can be called that, are the attack AOE indicators are slightly broken around the edges from some various angles. I've actually spent a good deal trying to fix this, and an pretty sure it's in the same category as the last one mentioned, especially since half the time they are fine, and the other half they're not. I've settled on deciding they are fine enough as is.
Anyway, I'm not done the original ARR MSQ, and drudging along in the post ARR, pre-HW quests, so I've hit all the main original areas but none of the 2 xpac areas. Is anyone else further along that they can confirm that those areas are without issue?
Again, glad it's all working well for you and you're enjoying it.

Anyone here still playing this? I'm finally getting around to uploading a bunch of fixes to the blog, and this is one that I never got around to uploading there, but I don't have an active subscription at the moment to verify that the fix hasn't been broken by any updates since my last time playing. Can anyone confirm if this still works for them?
