Just Cause 2, 2x260 SLI, 3D Vision strobing as soon as game enters 3D mode
  1 / 2
Hi

My mate has just gone 3D Vision and has bought JC2 from Steam. He has 2 x 260s (not identical) and although every other game seems to work without fuss, JC2 doesnt work. The whole screen flashes. This is without the glasses. This happens as soon as 3D kicks in eg right at the start, before menu screen. It is like a strobe effect. I cannot go into more detail as I only saw it briefly when he tested it at mine.

Does anyone know what might be causing this? This is a big disappointment to him because my JC2 pretty sold him for 3D Vision.

Thanks

Andy

Make sure the game is full screen (hit alt + enter) and also try 'disable 3d on game startup' or whatever the option is in the nvidia control panel. Once the game is loaded up then switch 3D on using the button on the emitter. You can also try disabling vsync.

I am running the same config (identical 460s though) and I had the same problem originally, I can't remember what exactly solved it but I think it was one of the two things I mentioned. The other thing that comes to mind is it might not play nice after playing another 3d game - try JC2 as the first game after booting or else reboot if you've already played another game before.

Cheezeman

The fact you had a similar problem, which you managed to resolve, is very reassuring.

Once I see him again I will let him know

Thanks!

There are known problems with JC2 and fullscreen. I use multiple monitors and had to disable the non-3D monitor before playing the game to make it work.

There was also a bug with JC2 with Motion Blur enabled that resulted in artifacting in one-eye, you can try disabling that and see if that helps. That was back in Demo though, not sure if they fixed it in the final retail version.

He 'solved the problem by adjusting the frustam. Bizaarly that stops the screen flashing. He now seems to be unable to adjust convergence is this normal?

Thanks

Make sure the 'enable advanced keyboard options' are enable in the Nvidia control panel - it gets reset to 'off' when you update drivers, etc. /confused.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
