How to fix/disable shaders in games(DLL,guide and fixes).

1D23F3D9 : labels
7AA75D87 : some jauges internal part
A24042E8 : icons + jauges + 2D UI
C56586C : not used (only 7 digit !)
The A24042E8 takes me some times because it did not disable icons only: it put all the screen in black.

Thanks for that. I have now successfully got all of my labels, icons, guages rendered at depth. Thanks again. Very happy. Absolutely loving this game in 3D

Hi guys!
I'm making a fix for half life 2 (almost completed) and I found that the game has vertex shaders 2.0... so I decided to make a little tool that automatically converts vertex shaders from 2.0 to 3.0!
You can download it from https://s3.amazonaws.com/Mana84/ConvertToVS3.zip
...please if someone test it make me know! Maybe I'll create a page in helixmod blog if someone thinks I should...
Instruction for use:
drag and drop your vertex shaders .txt files (even more than one at once) on the exe and it will overwrite them with converted files!
I believe I'll try to add some automatic fix functionality in too when I'll get the time to do it...

my cfg: i5 2500k, 8gb ram, GTX 570, Asus VG278H, Windows 8 Pro x64
I have registry issues and cant use java atm(need reformat) but heres the only vs 2.0 I have to test.

I dont have HL2 installed anymore but I remember in half-life 2 in the effects that "ghost" not being able to rewrite it from vs 2.0->3.0 because I didnt know how. May want to test that one. I think it used sincos and Im guessing its different for 2->3
If your gonna post anything wait like till at least Monday cause Helix just posted a game.

I tried to inject this shader in my shaderoverride folder of hl2 and the game starts normally so I believe it works. Although I noticed your file doesn't have any comment inside, while other shaders in this game do insted... are you sure this isn't a redump of an already overridden shader?
What effect does it render? Is it related to water?
All of the shaders I'm fixing in this game were vs 2.0. Untill now I fixed crosshair and a lot of shaders related to water effects. Water seems to look great now but its not completely fixed because when I look at water surface from the underwater it appears at screen depth.
Np I'll wait some more then ;) ..I'll release hl2 when its done and I should release flatout uc and smash cars too. Then I have a lot of games in mind but I'm a bit uncertain. I believe I could give bioshock a try since someone is interested in. Anyway I can't promise nothing nor to be any fast with releases becouse I only got about a couple of free hours per day actually...

Hey mana84 pls many people have been waiting for a bioshock fix, we would be really grateful :)

@eqzitara: ok sorry, I read fastly and misunderstood :)
@birthright: I've never tried bioshock in 3d, how many 3d issues it has? I'll install the game and give it a try.

It far from unplayable but it still has some typical UE3 issues, I can't really say if it's fixable or not, I hope so though
BTW on page 106 of this thread Stryker66 mentioned that 2D19FD90 vertex shader was causing most of the problems, though I didn't notice any difference without it, maybe you know better than me how to make it work.

i know that this section is the wrong area for my request, but i've read the instructions of this injection and was totaly fascinated by the functionality (even if i dind't understand a word of the technical part :D) and thought if it would be posible to deaktive or change "particles/dynamic lights/drawing distance, and so on" in games like "Guild Wars 2" to improve the performance on my old machine?

I'm looking at bioshock lately and I noticed it has a huge number of shaders needs to be fixed... I've modified my tool to automatically fix a lot of them... then I manually edited/added some others. The game looks a lot better now (water, fog, smoke, hud and some dynamic lights/shadows) but its still WIP,
here what I've done: https://s3.amazonaws.com/Mana84/bioshock_wip.zip
Dynamic shadows on some objects still needs to be fixed. If someone could test my fix and eventually just dump some bad shaders I'll give them a look...
my half life 2 fix needs some tweaks... I noticed that its nvidia profile change stereo behaviour with water shaders when I go underwater... water is looking right without any fix at start but it messup when returning outside from underwater. With my actual fix it looks right in this case but it renders a little weird at start. I'll try to switch to another profile to see what happens...
I've still to release 2 fixes in the blog becouse I noticed helix released dead space 3 (I haven't got the game yet but I just want to say thanks and grats for being so fast.. you are great!)
btw yesterday I updated my UT3 fix if someone is interested...
@Seinnd: definitely! You could disable some "heavy" shader and the game should become faster, you must be likely "gpu limited" to get noticeable improvements though...
I don't have the game so I cannot help you, but you can find a guide on how to disable shaders here:

@Mana84 - Exciting stuff! I'll try out your Bioshock fix. I am interested in your updated UT3 fixes, is it on the Helix mod site yet? Also, where can I get the half life 2 fix? I ask because the problem you describe with water is *exactly* what happens with "Dear Esther" and with "The Ship" (and probably "Bloody Good Time" as well), which all use the same engine I think, so if you have a solution for HL2 it may turn out to be a free solution for those games as well. The solution 'in game' for those is to Alt-Tab out and back in and it fixes it up. Finally, I was wondering if you think these HL2 fixes would help solve the water rendering problem in L4D2? Or if you can tell me which of the shaders you fixed for water in HL2 and I can try and see if I can work it out myself (highly unlikely though, I have managed one baby fix thus far to change the sky box in one game...)

updated UT3 fix is on the helixmod blog, fix is reuploaded and the old description updated... althought it doesn't show up as the first post (and I don't know why, but I believe its fine becouse I want to give better visibility to new helix fixes..)
you can download my very wip fix for hl2 from here:

I believe profile switching could a solution (I'll test this tonight..), becouse I suspect that going underwater triggers some of the nvidia's 3d heuristic methods. I'll try what I can and make you know if I get into something. I believe if we come up to a solution it could be useful for games you mentioned too... anyway if you want any help with some shaders I'll be glad trying to help you. If you want to look at bioshock or hl2 water shaders I wrote "\\water" (comment) in the head of some of them, not all of them becouse they are a lot... I started to develop an automatic tool for this... fortunately a lot of other games don't need too much shaders for water nor effects in general.
