Passive 3D
  1 / 2
Ok,

I just saw the LG passive 3d monitor. and I was trying to figure out.

I have a 120 hz vision ready monitor. But what I wanted to know was. Does
Passive 3d need a special monitor? or is it basically software interlacing that will work on any monitor?
or what does the specs need to be. and how can it be achieved.

I know active needs 60 hz each eye and is flipped. but passive looks like it's just the way the images are combined.

Any input on this would be appreciated

its the same 2D LCD monitor, but they put a plastic foil on it, cutting brightness, fillfactor AND resolution into half.

Passive/active , with Z-screen is whole different stuff, that supposed to be decent (as they developed it for CRT in the first place, and CRT is known to be a decent display tech) back in 20th century.

with 60hz per eye shutter, its different tradeoff, instead of cutting EVERYTHING, into half ,

you keep resolution, you keep fillfactor,

but loose the most brightness.

oh, and flicker talk is FUD.

Now that I'm back with shutters, I'm missing how smooth the motion is perceived in my Zalman (also a passive 3D display). But haters will hate... ¬¬

Oh yes, the cheapo passive hold display and its 2x 30fps material! That must be the final frontier when it comes to "smoothness", how can I always forget.

Even 2x 60hz is an "overkill" if you are lucky to own a display like that. The wonders of plastic film FPR technology never-end..!

My whole vision system from the eyes to the visual cortex is trying to fool me. Fortunately tritosine is here to tell me that what I have experienced (and he's not) is a lie.
