ummm .. there is nothing wrong with Nvidia's drivers, they fully support QuadSLI. QuadSLI is now in it's 3rd generation (7900/7950GX2, 9800GX2 and GTX295) and is simply a "niche" type setup.

Support for (Quad) SLI is in the hands of the game developers primarily, and QuadSLI simply does not scale well past the 3rd GPU .. simply the nature of the beast, it has been this way since the dawn of the "GX2" style cards.

QuadSLI, while sounding sweet, really is meant for benching ... not real world gaming.

If you want more gaming performance, get out from under those and either wait for Fermi, or go with a 3-way SLI GTX285 setup.. the extra vram and bus width alone is worth it.

Im talking about quad sli support for 3D VISION, not in general.

Just wondering is there anyway i could disable my pci-e slot in the bios so i dont have to take out my card, so i can then utilise sli on 1 gtx 295? I hate the idea of having to take out one of my gpus, if i could just disable some how, then that will atleast make life and performace a little better.

Just disbale one of the cards via device manager, works flawlessly. Make sure you turn off quad sli before tho. Upon reboot you should be able to selects SLI. Are you sure it's not working tho? TriSLI works for me no problems at all!

quad sli 3d vision wont work for me no matter what i try- the drivers are not supported. This is way overdue- the cards are going to be replaced in a few months- i am feeling really let down by NVIDIA

i wish i had gone with the 3-way SLI- it is a bit faster- but at this point in time it seems like i would be better off waiting for Fermi than selling the quad and buying a tri setup, the tri is more expensive than the quad sli, and the performance difference is marginal.

Just to be clear- Do you mean you get 3d vision to work in triSLi mode or do you mean you get d3vision to work in 285 sli mode by disabling a GPU in device manager? My computer does not show the individual cards- its shows 4 individual GPU's. i tried to do your disable method but it didnt work for me (i disabled the bottom two GPU's-im assuming that is the bottom board)... bummer!! maybe i need to change the order of driver installation?

I have 1 295 and 3d vision running currently- i tried:
1- removing all the drivers and 3d vision hardware- installing the 295sli- installing 3dvision drivers and hardware result=failure
2- leaving 295 3dvison drivers and hardware installed- poweroff computer and install the 2nd 295sli result= failure

Am i doing something wrong or out of order? should i try removing 3dvsion drivers and hardware. installing regular 295sli drivers and then running the 3dvision drivers? im really curious how you got your set up installed and working.

Thanks for the input!!

How do I know which one of the 295's to disable- I also have 4 listed. I obciously would like ro disable the card in the second pci slot. How do I identify which is which.

Thanks in advance guys

Edit: ok i managed to disable it, however there was no improvement in performance whatsever. I enabled multi gpu mode and yet it is the exact same performance with both cards running in quad sli.
I think the only option is to take out 1 card, or ofcourse new DRIVERS!

So let me get this straight... 4 GPU's, that's a niche setup, so conversely *3* GPU's, that's perfectly normal and mainstream? QuadSLI is really meant for benching, but 3 GPU's is completely practical for 'real world gaming'? Ha. Hello Pot, have you met Kettle?

Quad SLI is no different than 3-way SLI from the perspective of a game developer. They both use the exact same methods to render, the distinction being in the driver alone. You can argue about vram and bus all you like, and at least you're right about that, but you didn't even comprehend the point of the OP.

Telling someone to get rid of their pair of 295's and to go out and get 3 285's is a complete waste of money for a tiny increase, and just plain ridiculous. Seems like someone so concerned over bus width would be better served dumping his QX and nforce chipset for an i7 and really letting SLI stretch it's legs. Now there's a smart upgrade for "real world gaming".

So stop popping in to threads to troll about your non-related QuadSLI hate, and get back to the topic at hand. Nvidia has promoted this as an upcoming feature for months and months now and it's time they delivered.

Who's post are you referring to?

i really want this future update to become a reality. im stuck with a 295 that is just sitting next to my computer collecting dust. Here is a idea for NVIDIA;

make it so you can have 2x 295's in SLI with 3d vision installed- but have the control panel disable the second 295 when you enable 3d vision under the control panel and enable the second 295 when you disable the 3d vision in the control panel- this would be a easy fix for guys like me with high end computers running as entertainment centers.

I wish i could just return the 295- ill probably just end up putting it on ebay and buy the Fermi when it comes out- assuming it supports 3d vision. I wish ATI had 3d glasses....maybe they would support their high end customers better-competition is always good for the consumer.
