Is 3DVision still in use?
This is great to hear, about the community being so active, not so much about my 2016 OLED. I also have an older Sony 65" 850A, which I could swap with the OLED. The Sony was one of the first 4K TVs to hit the market, but when standards started being set for HDCP and HDMI 2.0 (this was before the release of HDR) this Sony only has 1 HDMI port that can be used to view 4K UHD content. At the time I bought this TV, the only was to watch any 4K content was to use Sony's FMP-X10. Even though it literally took days to download a movie, despite having a 300Mbps connection, I could watch 4K content. This set is in my bedroom, and I would happily swap it for the OLED. I think the Sony I have was made in 2013.
BTW, people have you searching for an EDID override, right off, but you don't actually need that in order to use 3D. You do if you want to use the full resolution, but if it doesn't work/no EDID, you can use 3DTV Play to get started, or just to experiment. 3DTV Play is for 3D TV's naturally, and it's totally lame today, but it works and is easiest. It's lame because it only supports 720p@60Hz, and 1080p@24Hz. Which of course is why people look for EDIDs. Pretty much any DX11 game fix now has a solution for SBS and TAB mode though, so you can use native TV 3D for those. However, in your scenario, maybe you'd want to experiment with current 3D, just using the 3D TV Play trial.
40ms input lag is intolerable if you play anything competitively.
I play BF1 multiplayer on my projector and it has around 30ms inputlag. I'm not one of the best players but I'm quite good playing with the rifle. If 30ms would be high I wouldn't be able to aim properly. btw Vsync intoduces more inputlag than 40ms, this is why for me it is always disabled. Rolldog, If you can provide a copy of your original Edid I will take a look. But first try the one for the 2016 LED model I linked on the last page, they work with similar software.

Joker It's gaming in 4K 2D with HDR enabled that chases shit loads of problems with input lag on LG OLED. I imagine 3D is much higher. I game on my 1080p projector but anything I play competitively, like battlefield 1, I'll play on my acer X34a. G sync is the best bit of tech to come out for shooters (and other genres) in a long time. I can't believe how smooth it is. It's like playing an arcade version over an emulation. Nvidia did something right! Being built into the screen and not needing developer support is probably the reason why it actually works. Imagine if it needed profiles. It would be dead already.

Play 2D? I don't do that anymore. Not doing that for years now and I refuse to become a cyclops. :) We are talking here about native 3D so you don't have to enable anything on the TV and this gives you the same exact inputlag like 2D in case of my set 40ms. It is normal that HDR gives inputlag, HDR implies image processing Native 3D does not.

I'm gaming on my 2016 LG E6 OLED and it's by far the best 3D experience you can get and I've tried everything. HMD, Surround, Projectors, etc. The EDID works perfectly fine on 2016 OLED and the picture is MUCH better then the 2015 I traded it for. The only weird thing is that my eyes alwasy reverse after 30 Min and I have to toggle 3D on and off every 30 min - which is no big deal, but still kinda annoying. This eye swap thing never happened on my 2015 OLED. Also, I'm actually VERY surprised how awesome games run on my Titan X Pascal in 4K 3D. I was averaging about 50 FPS on Titan Fall 2 with almost everything max, and same with BF1. NO -there is no extra lag on the LG because you are not running the TV in 3D mode. The 3D image just "happens" to line up with the polorized filter. The E6 averages about 33ms in 4K 3D and they also fixed the HDR lag as well with an update! Witcher 3 averaged about 40 FPS, and same with Deus X Mankind Divided. I'm only running a modest overclock, and performance is way better then I thought it would be.

That sounds like a sweet setup! OLED screens are the best I've seen. I just can't afford a 120" TV and anything smaller would seem like a downgrade for me. Has anyone owned/tried/seen what any of the Sony 4K projectors are like in action?

It's the 55" LG E6 OLED. LG has dropped 3D for 2017 :( so grab a 2016 while you can, as it will be the best and possibly last 3D TV for a while.... Passive 3D in 4k feels like a Holographic 3D. The amazing colors and perfect blacks really make the best 3D image available.

The very powerful and the very stupid have one thing in common. Instead of altering their views to fit the facts, they alter the facts to fit their views ... which can be very uncomfortable if you happen to be one of the facts that needs altering.

Out of curiosity, are you able to run games in 3D at lower resolutions, or is it 4K or nothing? I've got a GTX 1080, but I'm thinking I might sometimes be willing to sacrifice some resolution to be able to bump up quality.

It's 4K or nothing for 4K LG TVs or 3840 horizantal pixels and whatever vertical pixels (ie 3840x1440). If you want to play in lower resolutions you need to use Tridef, 3DMigoto (DX11) or GeDoSaTo (DX9) for upscaling. Tridef has the best upscaling quality IMO, lots of helixmod fixed games works with Tridef (you need to disable Tridef's 3D ingame ofcourse), but some games have issues or just crashes. For example The Witcher 3 works but Tridef disables or blocks 3D Vision fix. 3DMigoto supports SBS and T&B with DX11 games, use T&B it works best for LG TV's, much sharper than SBS. GeDoSaTo only supports DX9 games for now, it can upscale games to desired resolution.
