another new 3d hmd
Another 3d hmd looks like its coming out. Maybe we will get to see some good competition between sony, silicon micro display, and oculus. Things may get interesting.

Gonna get flamed here but I think the occulus is going to be terrible in 3d. 2D it "could" be good.
It has very good FOV though its low resolution HOWEVER. Resolution gets cut in 1/2 for 3D (side by side).
This device will also NOT be compatible with 3D vision/tv play.

Again, let me say again. I am not saying it will be bad in 2D. Just 3d.
In 2D it could be amazing. Though resolution is low I imagine it to be very immersive. I may be getting one as an excuse to play 2d games.

HDMI 1.4b = 1080p 3D 60Hz per eye. Check the January announcement by HDMI.org

Nvidia 600 series+ supports the HDMI 1.4b bandwidth.

I will wait for a HMD that is native HDMI 1.4b If It costs 999.99 $ that's ok. It will be worth it. :)

The competition is key here I think. Silicon Micro Display is 1080p but its LCOS which is not going to look as good as OLED. After having the Sony HMZ I returned it due to the resolution, FOV, and discomfort. Its really nice to see an HMD that is trying to sort the FOV out. It looks like they each have their niche, which is great news. We need one that is oled, 1080p, with a wide FOV. Then we need to get it up to 120hz and we will be set. Thats a tall order presently.

Resolution is actually not as important as you think, if your goal is to be immersed in the game. I got to try an earlier prototype of this HMD and it was amazing. It really felt like you got inside the game. Now, the quality was not as good as even the Sony HMD in terms of resolution/color/etc. But the FOV is HUGE, over 90 degrees. Really cool stuff.

I have the HMZ and it's one of the bst purchases I've ever done, I use it every day, but I'm also looking for an HMD with 3d 1080p, better FOV and comfort, I can't wait for any hmd that offers real improvements over the HMZ, I'll pay anything for that.
