Observation: Flickers and colour changes like crazy
OK,

I have the 3D Vison and an Acer h5360 projector running on a low end Dual coer PC with a 250 GTS card, and I think I will have to bring them all back due to the effectively unwatchable flicker and in and out of sync the system experiences.

I have read through all the threads, and after doing some testing have come to a few conclusions:

1) All the focus on GPU's and CPU's is a red herring and is not the cause of the problems.
2) A lot of demo content is badly encoded
3) This technology is not ready from primetime for movies
4) Games work much better than video, L4D works fine
5) Teh Nvidia 3D setup test tool works perfectly, no problems ever.

What I have noticed is the following. The amount of flicker, colour shifting and general crappiness of the system is more dependent on the source material than the hardware.

For instance, even though my PC struggles with the Nurbergring demo due to poor CPU size, it actually plays this clip the best of all the clips, no flicker or any other problems. The images pops, very immersive and smooth and as 3D should be. If 3D BD isliek then then cool.

But when it plays some other clips, like how to train your dragon, horrible.

So, after a few other clips I have come to the conclusion that the material combined with the Steroscopic 3D Player is the cause of most of the problems with the glasses and problems.

Bottom line, using the CPU to decode the material without DXVA acceleration is a bad idea. I think with proper 3D BD's running through powerDVD this problem should be avoided.

Bump

This is one of the quieter forums I ever been on. Do others have the same issues as above?

Test the demo of "Knight’s Quest 3D", it sucks for me, unwatchable! Does it play flawlessly for anyone like the Nurbegring?

"Knight’s Quest 3D" works fine for me. I have win7x64 , gtx 260, core i7 quad core CPU and acer h5360. What kind of cable are you using to connect to your projector? What is the length of the cable?

I have tried both a 6 foot VGA and HDMI

Why do some trailers work flawlessly, and the Nvidia demo app, but some work horribly?

I notice that the timing of the sync is off, as the colours go reddish and blink like the LCD"s are changing a fraction to late

It happens with some movies but very few like oldtimers (from nvidia website). I wrote a support ticket on the Nvdia website, they tried to help initially and asked me so many things about my setup and then stopped responding even after reminding them many times. So nvidia customer care sucks. I sometime see green/red color and it looks like it is a sync issue. But it does not happen to me in games , games are working with no problems. What about you?

Basically the same.

Nurberring works great, only a a few bits of oldtimers does it to me. Most of the other demos are horrible. Knights one sucks ass

Games are fine, no problems with Left4Dead

PowerDVD conversion fron 2D to 3D for DVD's is fine, although the conversions suck, no flickering or color blinking. I'm sure it's a sync and driver issue.

My guess is Nvidia won;t fix it in time before ATI release their solutions then it will be to late.

Also, if another person suggest CPU changes then screw that. My PC is good enough to play games, watch Blurays than it should eb good enough to playback some crappy 576p video stream.

The Rhine valley is a perfect example. Just about perfect except the timing is off ever so slightly so there is blinking in the left eye in the background makign parts of the image blink dark red then greenish at a steady rate.

My stuff I feel will be returned this week

OK, I'm donr, returned everything, and sold the projector.

I have gone baclk to ATI and mt CRT projector.

This technology is just not ready for prime time. Sorry Nvidia, but you lost me again as a customer.

Good luck all

I don't think I've ever had the problems you mentioned and my setup is quite modest (check my sig). I've only had one video play at poor performance because it was 1080p 3D and a weird format I've never used (maybe for good reason...).

Hi,

i never noticed this thread. I too had the same problems using the H5360 projector.

I managed to solve this by entering the setup wizard. On the page where it asks you about having more than one ir device etc, i originally chose the middle option. This is because it said to choose it if i was using other ir equipment. However, when i returned and chose the first box (for just the 3d vision) the flickering/colour shifting was totally gone. I have not had any problems in my room whilst using other ir devices at the same time.
Hopefully this may sort the problem out for someone else out there.

Phil.
