Having problems with 3D Vision 2 and BF4 artifact, very weird...just got my monitor today...help
Hi guys, I took everyones advice and bought an ASUS 3Dvision 2 monitor and a gtx 970.
The 970 is a beast.
I am having some issues with 3D vision however. I get ghosting in games, it is vey faint ghosting but visible if you look hard enough...is this normal?
Also, especially with BF4 I get this weird screen tearing look around me gun and the edge of the screen, it is see through and the only way I know how to describe it is, you know the movie predator, how it goes invisible and you can see through him, but it is wiggly, exactly like that. It is very annoying and almost a game breaker...what is this issue? how do I fix it? Otherwise I am happy.
I thought active 3d did not have ghosting like passive does?

Ghosting happens on all displays, except for DLP projectors. The best way to reduce it is to turn brightness down a little.
kyson is right about BF4, it's using "compatibility mode" 3D. This means it's not rendering the image twice, it's kinda just faking it. There are a few games that use this (and several can be forced to render correctly in true 3D, using 3dmigoto). I don't believe there's a (working) way to do this with BF4.

Fair enough. This issue I have around the gun and the edges of the screen is not ghosting though...it is something different. Where ever I mov my gun everything around it wiggles like there is floating water around my gun...wtf is this?

It calls halo. Side effect when playing 3D Compatibility Mode. Usually appears around weapons or other "near" to screen objects. And around other objects, if you increase 3D convergence.

We call that a halo. Compatibility mode always has them for things that are close to the screen. So weapons, mostly. Or the main character in a third person game. Because it's not actually rendering the scene twice, it has to shift things that are close to the screen off to the side to render the image for the second eye, then "guess" at what was behind that area.
This is one of the reasons why most of us on the forum don't care to play games that use it.

Oh bloody hell. Ye, it sounds just right, it looks like a halo thingy....it is almost a game breaker, wtf...how can Nvidia release something like this? This Halo effect does not happen in games that are true 3D...so why can we not get BF4 in true 3D?
Also, is there anyway to reduce this effect? Should I lower depth, convergence or brightness? Any tips?
So disappointing in Nividia now. I spent 1000K$ on their products the past few days and this is what I get? Fake 3D?
Any tips?Thanks

It's not Nvidia fault - it was a topic on BF4 and Dice said they spent much money to make 3D in BF3 perfect and now they won't bother adding 3D into this game.

Try BF 3 instead
