I'll be posting my full review in a few days once I get the newer driver CD from nVidia, but so far, as a 2D monitor, the Alienware is a bit lacking. Compared to what I had previously (a BenQ FP241VW), this monitor has some issues that are making me hesitant to keep it.

The biggest thing for me is the color. On default settings, the monitor is very washed out and almost overly bright. There is backlight bleed through the top and bottom that is far worse than what I expected, and the shift in color from top to bottom, as well as left to right, is a distraction when using it for everyday things like web browsing and video. As an example, one thing I noticed right off the bat was the flags at the bottom of these forums...anything that has a white detail is blended into the background. I'm going to try tinkering with a second calibration a bit later, now that I've been using the monitor a bit more.

Another big problem is something I don't quite know how to classify. Whenever there's motion with finer details, like a mouse cursor moving or scrolling through text, the monitor makes it almost impossible to see what is in motion. On a white background, like what's found on the nvidia site, the mouse cursor becomes near invisible when moving around, as if the system itself can't redraw the mouse fast enough. Setting to 60Hz actually makes the mouse, and almost every other object, ghost horribly. My previous monitor never had these issues, and it was rated as having a 16ms response time. I'm hoping that this might be driver related.

Aside from these two things, playing games in 2D mode have actually been quite eye opening. The speed at which things are running is great, and makes everything appear more fluid. Today I get my 3D vision kit, so I'm excited to test it out.
