Hey All,
I have a small problem and was wondering what I can do to fix it.. I am using a 480GTX vid card by eVGA.. Now my problem is that I use a CRT Monitor and I updated my Drivers to the 310.70 Drivers and CRT Mode is Switching to Discover mode by itself.
So each time before I game after a bootup I need to go into NVCP and switch to CRT Mode. I was wondering why it is doing this and what can I do to resolve this issue? I never had this happen until I updated the drivers to the 310.70's.. I used to use the 296.10's..
Sys Specs:
1. Intel i5 2500K
2. Asus P8Z68-V/Gen 3
3. eVGA 480GTX Single 310.70 drivers..
4. G. Skill 8gb memory DDR3
5. Rocketfish 7.1 Sound card
6. BigFoot killer 2001 network card
7. 160SSD DRive Corsair

My last CRT died long before I bought 3D Vision.
My understanding was that the option has not been present since sometime before version 300.
I have also read that in 310.70 you can again select CRT mode.
It comes as a bit of a suprise and I have no idea if it works at all.
From what you are saying it is actually working but the setting does not stick.
I don't know if the recent development is intentional and if CRT mode will stay.
They might be bringing it back now that some of the workarounds that was used
previously with CRT mode together with non-crt monitors appears to have been disabled.
I guess the answer will be clear in upcoming drivers.
As of now I'm guessing the latest driver has somewhat working CRT-mode.

That's great. I'll try that version and see what happens.
I forgot to mention that I also have to open the control panel to re-enable the CRT mode at every boot. I don't know why it happens or how to fix it. I'm just used to do it everytime I turn my computer on.
I have a certified 3D projector. It's detected using a short vga cable, but with the 5 meter long cable it isn't detected and I have to use the generic crt mode. I'm doomed without that option. (And as a plus I can select whatever screen size I want, as opossed to when the projector is detected correctly and is forced to be 120")

If a short cable works but obviously you use a long cable. Such a cable is much longer than the standard cables that comes with for instance a PC monitor.
Considering that a 5m hdmi cable works well but that is using digital transmission.
I wonder if a high quality hdmi would carry the analog vga signal and end in an adapter at the
projector.
Given that it currently "works" you might as well stay with what you have.
Worst case you will be stuck on this driver version. You will learn to remember to enable 3D each boot.

I am glad CRT monitors are supported again, I will try next weekend when I am in front of my CRT.
And about the switching to discover mode..., I think it is a general problem, not related to CRT only, because I suffer that problem too from the 310.xx betas up to present 310.70 whql and it happens with my Samsung 2233RZ 120hz monitor. It does not happen 100% times, but most times when rebooting, and once I select "Samsung LCD 3D 120hz" it works fine until next rebooting. In fact I have just done it now.

I have a 2010 Samsung Plasma 3DTV that supports frame sequential mode (CRT mode), but using beta drivers 310.70 I can only select 3DTV Play or HDMI Checkerboard, no CRT Generic display for me????
Are guys sure CRT mode is back????

I use generic dlp mode, and the nvidia control panel likes to reset itself to discover whenever I power cycle the computer. I made a few attempts to fix it, including deleting every nvidia program, driver, ran driver sweeper, and reinstalled everything. No luck so far. In all honesty I can live with it as long as 3d still works on my non-supported dlp.

Flugan, "generic crt display" is the label that our saviors use to prevent our little end user brains from exploding under the terrorific vision of technical terms. It doesn't necessarily refer to actual crt monitors.
