For 120Hz you need DL-DVI, any decent quality cable should be fine, I wouldn't bother ordering from Dell as it'll undoubtedly be expensive. Just grab one from Monoprice http://www.monoprice.com/products/search.a...d=dual+link+dvi
So they are called DVI-D (Dual Link)?
Is there really that big of a difference between gold plated tips and shielded cord vs non gold plated tips?
Dual-Link DVI-D. I wouldn't worry too much about the gold plated tips, but you may want to go with a higher gauge and better shielding for a longer run cable like that to avoid signal attenuation. The 28AWG cables I linked should be fine for up to 10', more than that you may want to go with 24AWG. Just don't get cables that look AND feel cheap, as cheap cables are one of the biggest causes I've seen for monitor/display problems. At the same time, I wouldn't pay more than ~$15 for a DL-DVI cable, definitely not a "Monster" or similarly branded cable for like $50.
