no need to worry.
afaik:
the nvidia folder is being created upon driver installation (it shouldnt matter if you delete the folder or its contents)
as for chipset drivers, what mainboard/notebook do you have?
you can easily reinstall chipset drivers and its even recommended to keep them up to date (even though they dont change often)
i would not recommend removing the chipsetdrivers at the first cleap up (sorry, didnt read the guide carefully, just copy&pasted it) but you could do it if problems persist and reinstall them.
anyway chances are your PC doesnt use a nvidia chipset anyway.
you can check if there are problems with the chipset by going into the device manager.

John1231, thank you for the info.
I have an alienware m17x R3 3d laptop, with the 580m, i7 2860qm and 16 gb ram.
How can I know if this chipset that I deleted needs to be reinstalled... where do I get it from. please elaborate... I would really appreciate this.
How can I find out if my pc uses nvidia chipsets??

i used those steps many times and never have a single problem.... if the steps on the evga forum works for you, use that...don't change it.
I put those steps in case help someone.

This was the first time I have ever totally removed all drivers this way... I usually just choose the clean install from the nvidia drivers installer. The reason I tried this guide from this thread is because the drivers install didn't go well the first time. I had to stop it in the middle because it was stuck for 30 min and reinstalled again using express install.
After this I figured it was time for a fresh fresh clean install and thus I used this guide here.
This is my first gaming PC and I'm learning slowly but sometime painfully LOL.

Thanks, but how do you find out if the motherboard has nvidia chipsets??
Or what chipsets the motherboard has?

you can go and look into the devicemanager:
if you have no exclamation marks in there everything is fine and you dont need to worry.
chipset drivers are normaly under the systemdevices tab in your device manager.

stupid question but did you check if the checkbox "use stereoscopic 3D" was enabled with 301.42 in the nvidia control panel?
because its real strange if 3d vision is enabled in the control panel but nothing happens when you start a game.
[/quote]
Yes, of course I had the "Enable stereoscopic 3D" checkbox enabled. And the problem isn't that "nothing" happens, the problem is that the frame synchronization with the glasses is off—it plays the left image when it should be the right image at various times and vice versa. Almost instant headache if you keep looking. One game also displayed the 3D Vision overlaid red warning message: "Warning: Attempt to run Stereoscopic 3D in a non-stereo display mode, please change to an acceptable mode. See documentation for acceptable Stereoscopic 3D modes."
