Heya,
I have had 3dvision for some time now but I am really wanting to go up a notch and use a projector. what is the preffered one for 3dvsion please?
Also is it as good quality as when I use my 22" at 16050 rez?
It's only 1280x720, so it's noticeably less sharp than 1080p. But They don't make 1080p 120Hz 3D projectors yet. If you haven't seen 120Hz DLP, it's amazing. There is literally no cross-talk. Buy one of these for relatively cheap and then you'll be able to afford to upgrade to a 1080p version when they come out.

Many thanks for replies,
I whent out and bought the Acer projector yesterday, I must say it was very impressive depth wise with no ghosting as you stated. I did however take the projecor back today and recieved a refund as the quality of the picture was much less being 1200 odd rez ( as you also stated). I will be buying the very next 1080p 3d vision projector tho as this was the only thing holding me back, walking into a cave pretty much life size on my wall was sooo sweet, it just missed the quality of picture that a 1080p would give.
This for me is the very next best step for 3d vision and I hope they release something soon in the £1000 price range and not the new sony one comming out that costs around £6000.

Very impressive depth huh, and we have to use depth-hack.bat , lol... I dont beleive you. What depth, what screen, lol...
You know, watching a screen with a DLP projector results in the individual pixels begin to blend only as far as the width of the screen, so watching a 100" screen 100" far your eyes begin to throw away resolution , be it 720p or be it 1080p, no individual pixels goin to be percieved, because human biology.
So reality is somewhat different, good luck spending 3000 bucks on an unimportant feature and 400-500 on bulbs. Let us know. /tongue.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

He is saying that if you sit at the correct distance from your projected screen your eyes can make almost no differentiation between 720p and 1080p.
Sitting far away from a big screen is not the same as sitting close to a small screen...
The cost difference for a 1080p projector will almost definately not be worth the benefit. I suggest you give the Acer another go and experement with AA and seating distance/ screen size.
Beleive me, i am fussy as hell - but once I have enough AA to get rid of obvious jaggies it is almost impossible to tell I am looking at a pixelated screen. I play on a 133" screen from about 10 foot away.
As far as blu-ray goes, its borderline impossible to see a pixel on a film playing at 720p

To explain this a bit more - imagine the size of a cinema screen. now, imagine the resolution that would be required to make a screen that big look unpixelated...
well the answer would suprise you.
The actual (effective) resolution is only a few times bigger than your monitor - but on a screen hundreds of times bigger.
You could actually play 1080p on a cinema and it wouldnt look too bad at all. (some films are actually filmed in 1080p)
It really doesnt work how you would expect becasue your eyes work a lot differently than people tend to think.

I agree with everyone here, I couldn't tolerate gaming on a monitor with anything lower than 1080p, but I'm fine with my acer at 720p at the right distance. I would understand being picky if 1080p proyectors were almost here and they were affordable, but nothing is out yet and it seems that the price is going to be 5x that of the acer

I'm still holding off on a 720 projector because they don't work with HDMI 1.4 unless you buy a $300 converter. I have 3D Vision and have fun with it on my cheap projector, but I'd like to play PS3 3D which you just can't with the Acer...

I will agree with other posts here that the 720 p is as good as 1080 , I own a optoma HD20 in my house for movies but i also have the HD66 for flight sim, with 3d . So i put the 2 against each other ,hardly tell the difference except the hd66 is $500.00 less.
I have watched monsters vs aliens 3d and the Imax Under the sea WOW what POPout. I used FabDVD to convert the Bluray files to MKV and then used Power dvd ultra for watching on the 8ft curved screen with 3d , my friends cant believe how clear it is and I say no ghosting even better than REAL3d.

Yup, 1080p is terribly overrated guys, thats a fact.
720p DLP + laser would laugh its ass off at 1080p+bulb , because DLP + laser can be driven not only 120hz , but at kilohertz refresh rates /fear.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':fear:' /> , and its light cuts thru the polarizer foil of shutterglasses, so its a very effective light engine, not much is lost inbetween .
-at this point , screen is very important part of the equation, DLP = no subpixels, huge fillfactor, these advantages matter , 1080p , not so much.
So no, 1080p is not really superior . Cheers for the comments, happy new year!

I agree with everything here re 1080 v's 720 However, I just returned Acer H5360 that I just bought to newegg.ca because the built in speaker failed and thank god it did because I discovered that they have a replacement only return policy on this projector. At least now I will have a New in sealed box to sell on ebay to get most of my money back. I will not deny that the quality of the 3D in games is spectacular. When running the Nvidia 3D test (100% depth) sitting 14' from my 140" 16:9 screen The nvidia logo comes out at you and spins around like a solid object about 4 feet infront of your face. Its the most impressive 3d effect I have ever seen! BUT that said the Acer H5360 is of low quality build and imo a disappointing purchase .
1. Its very load
2. the Built in speaker adds no value. Better to leave it out and make the projector a few bucks cheaper.
3. Throw ratio and zoom is useless on this projector.
The projector mount in my ceiling is 14'from the screen. I had to put the Acer on a camera Tri-pod about 18' away for the largest image it could make to fill my screen.
4. rainbow is annoying.
Now I may very well be spoiled with my Panasonic PT-AE1000 and 3d on its own is not enough for me give it up. Can any one recommend a 720p projector that is Nvidia 3D ready the has other features comparable to PT-AE 1000 like good mount support, Low noise, descent remote with zoom and focus features. not interested in 1080 for all the good reasons specified just a good robust build build quality with some bells and whistles, no rainbow effect etc. in the under $2000 price range. any suggestions much appreciated.

You guys are all nuts. I'm the one that told him to buy the 720p projector, but even I can tell the difference between 1080p and 720p on a 42" screen from the opposite side of the living room, never mind on a huge projector screen. Stop falsely trying to justify the fact that your projector is low resolution. It's juvenile and it makes me angry that people spread this kind of false information to make themselves feel better. If you honestly believe what you are saying, then I'm sorry, but it's time for a trip to the optometrist. They make really good contacts these days that will get your vision back up to spec.
I love my 720p H5360 for being affordable and great 3D, but when ACER releases a 1080p (or higher) at the same price point in a year or two I'll be buying that, too!

As far as blu-ray goes, its borderline impossible to see a pixel on a film playing at 720p

well the answer would suprise you.

720p DLP + laser would laugh its ass off at 1080p+bulb , because DLP + laser can be driven not only 120hz , but at kilohertz refresh rates

I love my 720p H5360 for being affordable and great 3D, but when ACER releases a 1080p (or higher) at the same price point in a year or two I'll be buying that, too!
