Can't get 3d compatibility mode to work / no updated 3d profiles since 334.89

I've been in a similar situation, but it won't take as long as you think. You'll have the backup done in a couple hours, be up and running with the essentials in another two hours at most, can install the major stuff in another 2 or so, then fix up the rest as you need it. Things like Steam can be backed up by taking the folder to an external drive, reinstalling windows etc, then installing Steam, exiting, and dumping your old Steam folder on top. Most games will run without a separate reinstall, and those that don't can usually be sorted out by verifying local files. It's definitely annoying to do, but once you've exhausted the most obvious causes (and those of the experts), it's often faster and less painful. As for backups, hard drives are cheap and useful to have around. It's worth investing in an external drive.

I haven't had a problem with driver installation inawhile, last time I did, Display Driver Uninstaller did the trick. Previously several years ago when having an install problem, I followed the advice in this thread. https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/467215/?comment=3321019

Try this, most times when it comes NV driver Install errors, permissions seem to be at fault 9 out of 10 times, even the smallest of issues can wreak havoc on NV drivers.. So, check your permission settings for and in the "programdata" folder (Hidden in C:\) All the way down to the last NV subfolder - also, check permissions down to the "Start Menu" folder, even this, late in the install chain, can cause a failure if the driver can't introduce shortcuts to the StartMenu. Good Luck!

Thanks guys for your efforts so far. I followed the suggestion from D-man and did what the guide advised but I had no success. If I install the driver with GFexperience it again gives me a fault with Shadowplay too. I think I need to take a rest. If someone finds a magic trick, please let me know.
