LOTRO Advice on getting it to work with 3D vision
  1 / 2
The title says it all.
DX9 vs DX10
Shadows level?
Any other advice.
Just got done w the FF14 beta and it was baaaaaddd. WOW is ancient. AOC just doesn't work (even w/super computers).
I need a good MMO and LOTRO is the only one that hasn't p'd me off. It will be free to play as well soon. So We may as well get started

Hello from Germany,

First of all, I love LORD OF THE RINGS ONLINE (LOTRO) in 3D! Although it's on the market for some years, LOTRO still has NO official Nvidia 3D profile! But I would give 85 - 90% to it. It looks great, riding (or running if your lower lvl 15 :-) ) through middle earth. But there are three things not working with the 3d vision: Water isn't working correctly, whether in DX 9 nor in Dx10 (but DX 9 is better i think), sky is rendering at wrong depth (but most of the time there are mountains around - so it's not a big thing. Or go to MORIA, there is no sky at all ;-) ) see PIC2. And the cursor is not 3d - has no depth information. So it's tricky, to point to the right spot in the third dimension - BUT there are two workarounds: 1) you should get used to choose opponents or other characters by using the "tab" key anyway, because it's easier and faster 2) if the cursor moves over a "clickable" item, it is "highlighting", so you know that you are at the right place with your cursor....

I just made some fast pics from LOTRO in 3D. Not the best ones maybe, but they give you an impression. Oh, the "title" of my character is shown in four pictures - little mistake.... sorry for that.

I agree that Warhammer Online is just perfect with 3DVision... only a small (but annoying on the long term) thing... the cursor at screen depth.

When you're in the middle of an hectic battle it's really hard to use the cursor not in 3D.

Anyone knows of solutions about this small issue ?

Right now Everquest 2 has gone free to play with everquest extended, open beta is working good and other than the water, it's almost flawless in 3d, it even has steresocopic options to adjust depth and convergence among other things, check it out.

I'm really interested also in LOTRO now that it's going F2P, I'll give it a try and also to the WO trial to see if it's that good. Aion has been mentioned as working great with 3d vision too.

Can you give more details about the ffxiv beta in 3d? I have the beta too, activated the serial and everything, but I can't login at http://dev-na.ffxiv.com/ to download the files, it says I'm not in the beta, really weird.

Hello!

I just read the information, that "LOTRO free to play" (& and the new content) is delayed (should start tomorrow), at least in Europe! But in North America, you should see the new content (and perhaps some graphical changes - DX 11) and Lotro - Free to play, as it was planned tomorrow..... Uh, oh, for Europe there isn't a new release date yet. So have fun and enjoy Lotro in North America without or with (!!!) 3D. We europeans will follow soon....

Gunair

PS: If you're new to LOTRO and play in 3D, give us a feedback about your impressions...

Alright..First off, I have always enjoyed this game so I do highly reccommend everyone try. It is now free to play!!!. The game supports DX11!! Looks great in 2D.

As far as 3D goes. It is still pretty amazing. Be sure to turn off DX11 Ambient Occlusion, Post processing effects, and any nametags you don't like seeing and it rocks. 3D is really good.
Did I mention it is free?
It is better than WOW in 3D /teehee.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':teehee:' />
