Well they recomend a 10mbit connection for a smooth stream.
So you probly wont get a smooth playback.

Okay, so a question on this whole thing. I was at work while this was going on so I couldn't give my impressions, but I hope to catch the replays that are supposed to be coming our way. Anyway for my question, I have the new Acer GD235HZ 3D monitor that supports HDMI. I am wondering, is it possible to hook my monitor up to my HD DVR box via HDMI and watch the TV broadcast (or replays on demand) instead of having to stream it over the Internet?

Works flawlessly for me. The 3D looks great, but there's some loss of quality in it being streamed, obviously.
I think 3D TV in HD would be amazing. I think I may actually consider getting a 3D TV sooner rather than later after seeing this. In HD, it would truly look as if you were watching it in person.

Well my opinions, I'll try and be constructive.

Pros first /yes.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':yes:' /> [/b]
The hardware worked perfectly. I have a samsung 2233RZ, win7-64, 280gtx + quadrofx, 1 emitter 3 glasses.
No Flicker issues at all.
The Colours were vibrent (maybe too saturated - often find this with US broadcasts)
The glasses and emitter worked great accross the room, the 1 emitter I have fed 3 glasses no issues, we sufferd no range or syncing problems.
I think as boring as golf is to watch, it was a good choice to start off with, no crazy fast zooms etc needed to confuse the eyes. The 3D effect was visable, and did enhance the image.
The camera work was overall good. A good sense of depth was given. It's still early days and no doubt things will improve as they master the technology.
I found that sitting back around 8ft worked well, the 3D effect at this distance was comfortable.

If the video cannot be viewed when people have met all the requirements.. Its not much use. A good host that can serve internationally is required. akamaistream.net could not cope.
Many people had the bandwidth, but the site could not serve the data fast enough. Only a lucky few seemed to be able to enjoy it.
Video quality was absolutly apauling for 2 reasons so much so I am frankly insulted.. :angry:
Compression and resolution. The compression used was the most significant problem. The image was very soft, sufferd from terrible compression artifacting, and very bad haloing. The artifacting resulted in slightly varying distortions for each eye. All detail was lost. items were blury and had no real edge to them.
The resolution wasn't that high (was it a ntsc res?), however a good quality low res image can be upscaled with no problems if the source is good (which it wasn't - and every single viewer had to upscale to our monitors/tv's/projectors etc).
It has been mentioned that the video stream was around 3800kbps in total, a huge amount of bandwidth that was totally wasted. Where were you watching from? I mean what was your Internet connection and from what part of the world? Here in Texas USA it's just a slide show with brief (3-5sec) spots of live flow using otherwise zippy cable modem ...

That pretty well describes my experience and apparently many others so far ...except there seemed to be a point at which the re-buffering completely stopped and only closing down the viewer, restarting and relinking to the URL would get it going again. Sometimes the player could be stopped quite hospitably while at other times the intervention of Task Manager was required.

I did. I think, as has been mentioned, for a history making 3D transmission is was very good. Look forward to some HD 3D broadcasts.
