^ I had the same CRT as fish99. It works well with 3D Vision with most games. There's some ghosting but games like Avatar that are made for 3D seem to work really well with minimal ghosting. Don't even try to play Mirrors Edge though. :P I got that CRT for free to test out 3D before investing in a projector. I think it's the best/cheapest way to make sure you're gonna like it.

I've posted about this in this forum and about pulling the pin in your vga cable that sends this information to allow you to us ALL resolutions and refresh rates your montor truely can do and custom set. Basicly crt is the worst for ghosting and most pain in the butt for getting to work right at high res with win7 and the 3dvision drivers. They really need to put a disclaimer about crt 3d quality and compatibility with win7 vista and 3d vision drivers.
i logged on to look up 120hz lcd tv's and 3d vision. now that there are more 120hz lcd tv's coming out, and it looks like it's still more a matter of what nvidia is willing to cover as 3d ready, and if it's not in thier list then they don't want to worry about it.

Here is a link to a picture I did a post on about modding the DVI Plug to get your refreshrate back, I found the infor on a web site and did a little modifing of the info, being DVI plugs cost less than a vga cable I desided to use a DVI plug that came with my video card and drilled out the female pin so no contact could be made.....CHEERS If you wish you can do a search and find the whole Post Topic, but this is all you need really..remember do at your own risk, been useing the mod on my Big A$$ CRT sense I got win 7, and no LCD can match the colors of the CRT when playing FPS, bar non.

Truefully I don't really care about the 3d stuff, it wares off after awhile....but if you like it you haft to deal with some of the problem of it at present time, the colors in 3D are not very vivid, to my taste...CHEERS

Can't agree with most of that. LCDs typically ship with poor calibration, especially TN+Film panels, and every 3D Vision Ready LCD made so far has a TN+Film panel. Whether you have a CRT or LCD you're still going to need a colorimeter if you want really good colour accuracy, but honestly unless you are a graphics professional or photographer, the truth is you're just not going to care (and if you are a graphics professional, you're going to buy an IPS panel, not a TN, and there are no IPS screens that do 120Hz yet). I have a CRT and LCD (samsung 24" TN) sat next to each other on my desk here, and honestly the CRT has a better picture, more natural, more lifelike colours and more contrast (remember dynamic contrast ratios on LCDs are just a con, it's the static contrast ratio that counts). The LCD is brighter, sharper and bigger.
Also I've had no problems getting games to run at the refresh rate required for 3D Vision. And whether you use CRT or LCD, you still need to get the game into the same 120Hz. The only problem you can run into is getting Vista/Win7 drivers for your CRT, but you can just use the davemon.ini unlocked driver and get access to every refresh rate (I made a 64 bit version of the driver myself and posted it on these forums).

I also have an old school nec 9pg crt projector that can do 95khz horizontal, and that will let me go up to 1024x768@115hz which is definitly do able for 3d. Driving games in 3d on an 8 foot screen are AWESOME!!

Here is a link to a picture I did a post on about modding the DVI Plug to get your refreshrate back, I found the infor on a web site and did a little modifing of the info, being DVI plugs cost less than a vga cable I desided to use a DVI plug that came with my video card and drilled out the female pin so no contact could be made.....CHEERS If you wish you can do a search and find the whole Post Topic, but this is all you need really..remember do at your own risk, been useing the mod on my Big A$$ CRT sense I got win 7, and no LCD can match the colors of the CRT when playing FPS, bar non.

As for CRTs being darker with 3D Vision, they don't automatically switch to full brightness like a 3D Vision Ready LCD does, but you can easily set the games brightness/gamma higher, or use the brightness setting on your CRTs OSD. I have no issues with brightness or colours using 3D Vision.
The ghosting can be pretty bad in some games though.
Can't agree with most of that. LCDs typically ship with poor calibration, especially TN+Film panels, and every 3D Vision Ready LCD made so far has a TN+Film panel. Whether you have a CRT or LCD you're still going to need a colorimeter if you want really good colour accuracy, but honestly unless you are a graphics professional or photographer, the truth is you're just not going to care (and if you are a graphics professional, you're going to buy an IPS panel, not a TN, and there are no IPS screens that do 120Hz yet). Also CRTs have far superior black depth, typically 4-5 times darker than the best you will see on an LCD. Calibrated or uncalibrated, CRTs typically have superior colour accuracy. I have a CRT and LCD (samsung 24" TN) sat next to each other on my desk here, and honestly the CRT has a better picture, more natural, more lifelike colours and more contrast (remember dynamic contrast ratios on LCDs are just a con, it's the static contrast ratio that counts). The LCD is brighter, sharper and bigger.
Also I've had no problems getting games to run at the refresh rate required for 3D Vision. And whether you use CRT or LCD, you still need to get the game into the same 120Hz. The only problem you can run into is getting Vista/Win7 drivers for your CRT, but you can just use the davemon.ini unlocked driver and get access to every refresh rate (I made a 64 bit version of the driver myself and posted it on these forums).
