So to recap, the only thing you can do right now to slightly improve things: 1) Set pagefile large, like 20G. 2) Lower settings, especially texture quality. 3) No extended view distance. 4) Lower the variety of cars and people. (fewer textures)
Hey, they fixed the "said" ;-) @bo3b, thank you very much for the recap. Also note latest, 355.60 drivers. I skimmed through kinda fast, but there was some discussion on turning off the "shader cache" in the NV control panel. Was this worthy? Obviously, I can try, but what was your observation on that part? I'll be doing surround, so I'll have to knock back some of the detail anyway. I have 4 large mem sticks, so will be interesting to test with that, then add a large pagefile. I appreciate all the efforts. I get a couple weekends of game time coming. I have to check out Crysis 3 too :-) Thanks guys!!
For Me--, Surround: 355.60 works better than the 350 release driver I have to use FXAA - ON and have MSAA - OFF, I get reflection lighting all over the place with MSAA. No biggy as surround you can only go to 2x anyway. I was using K-Putt's Sweetfx for GTA V, works great, looks good, but freezes display and have to reboot-ONLY when I go to replay a mission and come back to Story Mode. So, when I go to replay missions, I don't use it. EDIT-just disabling Kputts/SweetFX right before returning to Story Mode stops the crashes :-) Set up a non boot disk ssd with 30gb min/60 gb max page file. I left Shader Cache as default (on). Most of the other settings I go as high as I can, without going in to the "yellow" on the memory limit. Besides Sweetfx issue, no biggy, this game is just downright incredible with the detail and open world wandering. Thanks to all for the fiddling and comments on your systems. Something broke my reflections in game like to the point there was none at all. I'm hoping it was the ENB I used and not 3D Vision

Switched last week from 780 (780 SLI before) to 970. Got a lot of problems before and tried every Troubleshooting written here. Crashes and freezes every time. Since switching to my new Gtx 970 EVGA SC Acx 2.0 no more crashes or freezes. Played about 5-6 hours, everything smooth and perfect. Im running highest settings and driver 355.60 These special Settings on the other page off. GPU is running default with boost 1367 MHz. I didnt change anything in the driver. Performance when driving around about 30-35 fps and sometimes up to 50-60 Vsync. Frames are still the same as before with 780 (SLI), Cpu or engine still seems to be limiting. Vram usage about 3,3-3,4 GB and Ram usage about 7,5 GB. GPU usage about 50-80%, CPU also. It runs not perfect smooth when driving around, but very playable. 3D Vision still looks fantastic. Dont ask me why I got this problems with my old GTX 780, which ran without any problems playing other games. Maybe its a driver problem with GTX 7xx, maybe Im wrong, but I cant explain why every problem @ Gta5 3D Vision is gone since changing my GPU.

Hi, it was a long time I didn't play GTA V: Everything runs fine now, no glitch and 3Dvision loss etc... Only bug remaining is the checkpoint for races (etc) are still double & buggy ... With original profile and Max Payne profil too... Has anyone finds the workaround for this?

I recently asked if they've been able to reproduce the problem internally, this is the response I got. Seems promising. "Apologies for the delayed response. Unfortunately, we at support do not have any information on that. Rest assured, I did talk to a few guys in the correct department and they stated that things are coming along. That is all of the info I could acquire, however at least we know that progress is being made. I just wanted to follow up to let you know that we haven't forgotten about you!"

Interesting. I'm able to speak with a real human too, and have been trying to provide as much info as I can. I gave him a Debug Layer output from DX11, which clearly demonstrates a memory leak, and he's the only person I've spoken with where I have confidence that he did forward the information to the dev team. The other supportbots are probably just lying so they can close the ticket. So... I think we have broken through the stonewall of silence so they at least know about the problem. Whether it will be fixed? I still remain cynical, they suck pretty hard. Here's another experiment for the daring. I bought the game, and it does not run properly, and I wanted to debug it and see if I can figure out how to improve it. So I put on my Edward Kenway hat, and downloaded a copy from my good friend Robert G. Mechanic if you get my drift. The reason to do that is to allow me to use the debugger properly, without interference. Now curiously, if I run that version, I can succeed at the high settings + high runs level. I had it run more than 250 runs of the benchmark, and it did not seem to be leaking memory like before. YMMV, but it might be worth giving that a try, it looks like that version might have also fixed the memory leak somehow.

Bo3b, that's the version I used to try it out before buying, and I still had the issues, as per my comments in this thread. There was one difference in behaviour from the other people's comments, in that they reported straight crashes, whereas in my case the crashes were telegraphing themselves by first breaking teh shaders, at which point I could switch to 2D to avoid it. In 2D crashes never occurred. But maybe the big factor with your test is drivers. I don't have the game installed to check , but my previous tests involved first 344.65 and then 350.12 (the one I'm still on now). If you are on one of the newest ones, where I think Nvidia started to address some issues with newer games, maybe that's why the memory leak seems to be fixed for you. The only other difference could be hardware, or possibly RAM or page file. Good luck with client support, and other experiments. Hope you nail it.

There are several different Edward Kenway versions around, perhaps you should verify (via PM) whether or not you were using the same one?

It seems I fixed my crashes. Setup: 2x GTX 970, 3DVision @ 1920x1080. Was difficult to finish a mission because it usually crashed after a while. FPS were quite bad, SLI scaling was bad. I have most details/settings set to the maximum possible value, which was possibly the problem. I decreased "extended distance scaling" significantly, watching the memory usage, roughly until the bar turned green. Now even with MSAA the game runs at much higher FPS, it seems not to crash anymore, both GPUs have a higher load, and when I google for picture comparisons what the "extended distance scaling" does, the difference seems negligible. I am quite sure among other things my GTX 970s were forced to use their last 512 MBs of RAM, which are unbelievably slow, as we meanwhile know. Thanks nVidia. Oh, and I had to fix one more problem: total graphical f*** up in 3DVision. The first time after installing a graphics driver, GTA 5 runs great in 3DVision, everything works fine. But after that, it is completely screwed up. My solution is to start GTA 5 with the following batch file (let's say GTA5.bat):
@echo off del "C:\Users\USER_NAME\AppData\Local\Temp\cloud_*.dat" del "C:\Users\USER_NAME\AppData\Local\Temp\NVIDIA Corporation\NV_Cache\*.*" /Q start steam://rungameid/271590
Additionally, I disabled the shader cache for GTA 5, but that alone was not sufficient. Only deleting those files (see above) before every start fix the graphical glitches for me. - 3D is really dying, isn't it... Support getting worse, LCDs not being advertised with being 3D capable anymore... :-(

Guys do you think its worth upgrading from a superclocked GTX 780 to the GTX 980ti Hybrid? For GTA5 in 3D Vision? That would be the only reason I see a need to upgrade as the other games I like to mod and play can be maxxed with my 780. BTW SLI is not an option...I just want the max single GPU performance for GTAV in 3D.
