So, I've been wait for the cost to drop on the Z800s. They are down to $559usd. I was about to place an order for them last week, but then I came in here. One of my major thoughts when putting this system together was a dual core would do nothing but help run max refresh and max FPS, boy was I wrong.
All the new 80&90FWstereo drivers do is reset my system. I can't even run Anaglyph mode without the drivers crashing my system as soon as any thing 3D is attempted. It also puts my PC in a reboot loop requiring me to boot in to safemode and uninstall the stereo drivers every time. Friends with single core systems seem to be mostly ok, another friend also put off his order for a Z800 because he runs dual core and SLI. The Stereo community isn't as small as it was back in 02, when I last ran shutter glasses.
Why Nvidia why. I didn't spend all my hard earned cash just to disable half my CPU, I will but geez. NV better get with it now that X2s are like $150 allot more people will be moving to dualcore. I read people in here haven’t played in stereo in over a year due to driver issues.
So instead of buying the Z800 I purchased the E-D shutters for $40 and instead of writing a rave review about NV's stereo support I get headache's and system crashes. Do I have anything wrong, is everything stated not true? very sad indeed.

It's a pity, that at least, NVIDIA do not tell anything about their plans and/or what we can expect in the news releases (and roughly when).
At side of the poor driver support, this is one of the things I believe is worse: ignoring the communication with the community is a serious fault, IMO and a big loss of oportunities.
Additionally as MaXThReAT points to, many people instead of blaming Nvidia for the headhaches with stereo, keeps waiting, and buying cards instead ATI, because some day, maybe things will change in NVIDIA about stereo community. IMO this is a something to think about too.
How could we know if you are working on this, NVIDIA? As you say, these forums are p2p, then what channel of communication with you we have (at side of contact info)?

Good news, I have a Z800 and a Dual Core CPU. While 3D support is a bit funny on 7800GTX 512 cards, its not bad at all. Anything on the Doom 3 engine runs perfectly fine. Same for World of Warcraft (with specific settings). And with the latest work-around for dual core CPUs, dont hesitate on that z800.

I would be interested in knowing what drivers you are using and what CPU and chipset or sets. Running a 7900gt it's pretty limited with either 91.31 or 91.28. 81.12 and lower do not support the 7900 series and that is the issue. If I could I would use older drivers. If you haven’t, try out the 91.31 or 91.28 and see how things go. It may be okay, fundamentally we are both using a single card to render two perspectives but you basically have two displays with the Z800. I can't get my shutters to work in 100% of games or tests with both cores enabled. If I cannot even get shutters working I'm unfortunately not about to spend $500 to test out a set z800 or to have to disable a core. This is why I’ve posted, if I can get the shutters and tests working I would probably purchase a set within the month.
