Is there any techincal reason Nvidia can't "mod" it into the drivers themselves. Is the value even derivative of other fluctuating information, or is it just a simple linear distance value? Would either of these scenarios take more than 10 minutes to program and compile? And can we at least find out what game/personal hobby the Nvidia programmers play\persue when they alt-tab out of their work?

Unfortunately there is no UI meter like Depth for Convergence, it is something we have lobbied and asked for goiong on a few years now. If anyone attends the 3DV2 focus study in Santa Clara, that would be a good thing to bring up. :)
There is a numeric setting for it though. If you hit Ctrl-F7 while in-game, you save your 3D profile settings to a text file. There you can see the Convergence value, which can be positive or negative values. I imagine it uses "0" as zero parallax or neutral point with adjustments from there. Also, even though the file saves depth setting info, Depth is still controlled globally via the USB wheel/NVCP settings between games.

I remember reading that if you lock the registry and then try to change the convergence then a numeric value shows up in the green colour that the depth slider is, but the convergence doesn't change. (or something similar to this) main point being, the code for the display your asking for is actually there, just not active.
Just a personal note on the, frankly shoddy way the drivers currently feel. The ONLY reason I bought nvidia and not Radeon was 3d vision. I'm building a pc for my mate and I've advised him to get twin 570s because he is interested in 3d. BUT with Radeon taking on 3d I think that nvidia really needs to pull its finger out and make the user interface slicker and friendlier. Bottom line is, soon there will be more of a choice, and nvidia won't be the only real choice. Decisions will start being made on flexibility and user experience.
I'm just saying, a few days of coding now adding decent displays and needed functionality such as screen size or multiple 3d settings, could end up saving them literally millions in the long run...

Thanks for the responses. I guess my only other concern is that my game settings are always saved properly by pressing CTRL+F7. Is there any conflicts with Steam games? I was setting up 3D settings for GTA4 (which wasn't recognized by the 3D drivers...was there ever a profile for this game?), but when I started another steam game (Gothic Forsaken Gods, also not recognized), I noticed it seemed to have started up with my GTA4 3D settings. Without a numerical way to check it's a bit hard to confirm.
The drivers recognized Assassins Creed Brotherhood and Alice Madness returns, both of which had good default profile 3D settings, I didn't have to adjust much at all.

Is there a mod that gives it a visible meter like depth? It would be much easier to keep track of minute changes to see what's best.
