Let´s ask for a 3d patch for the game developers
But the game has a 3D Vision profile and is rated as Excellent. It performs really good in stereo 3D mode with 3D vision and the only possible issue you might notice is the presence of some ghosting depending on your 3D monitor. High contrasting objects as usually tend to give a some ghosting and here you have an abundance of while clouds over unexplored territory that can cause some ghosting as well as some other minor details too. But pretty much the game looks and plays really well in stereo 3D mode.
Ive made a nice video of several hours gameplay, (perhaps days, i dont remember..) of Civ V in 3D, have a look here

Screenshots on the screenshot thread show the curser and unit icons are 3D and the only 2D elements are on the HUD, which is no biggy what-so-ever. Can someone please confirm the fact that this game is as 3D friendly as it looks?

I've been playing it a bit myself, lately. It's pretty 3DS friendly all right. It's just that the game isn't all that much more impressive in stereo. Plus it's a game you tend to want to play for several hours on end so eye fatigue starts to become a real factor. (Of course, you could use that as a feature, too. Put the glasses on at 10pm and you should be in bed by 1am. ;))

Agreed, though Civ V works great in 3D, it's one of the few games I still play in 2D

I have just got this game and its great! I know I am 3D f@nboy but I really like playing this in 3D. I played it in 2D for about 10 minutes when I was eating  and the game wasnt anywhere near as nice to look at. There is something special about the tabletop map in 3D which is lacking in 2D.
Hard to explain but I would rate Civ 5's graphics in 2D = 5/10 but in 3D, 8/10. I'm playing this in 3D! :)

Thats funny, i've actually found myself going in the opposite direction lately. I've been playing this mostly in 2D. mainly because of how long the game sessions end up being, and how uncomfortable the glasses can get behind the ears mixed with 2D interface has been giving me a bit of a headache lately. Fortunately, while the parts that are rendered in 3D do look good, this has been a game that i dont feel loses too much by playing in 2D, and its rare for me to play a game thats not 3D anymore these days.
I downloaded the Civ V Demo from Steam and can't get it to work at all in 3D Vision. I have "negative" textures from nearby objects that seem to overlap all over the place (it's hard to describe, it looks like someone is randomly spraying shiny gray paint on the world). Is this an issue only with the demo ? I followed the recommendation to turn down fog of war quality. I have the latest drivers and 3D Vision works fine with the likes of Empire TW, Med TW, Borderlands, etc.
I got same problem with dx9, but playing dx10 & dx11 with 3D Vision wont work. It worked first time when I tried it, but now it wont even go on. Green 3DVision text just flashes bottom right corner and nothing happens. I noticed on another monitor that there is 2 SteamUIoverlay.exe processes when I play Civ5 and thought it has something to do with it, but looks like I'm only one with this problem. Civ5 is my only steam game so I dont know is it conflict with it.
I use 260.99 driver for gtx480 and 260.81 for 3DVision. Other games work fine.

So, I finally got this working with dx11 & 3D Vision. I had to "check" game files in steam what noticed corrupted files or something and downloaded originals.
I could play about an hour before TOTAL crash. Even reset or power button didnt work(yes I pushed it over 6sec). I think/hope that crash was common civ5 dx11 bug and not related 3DVision.
However, I'd like to know if there is a way to play dx9 version with 3DVision? Now it shows grey things in every tile. In other games this 3D thing was just nice and good looking but surprice on Civ 5! When I played normal 2D I didnt notice map(world) is actually a ball! :D Also cities and important things are standing up like in real boardgame!
If I need to show 3DVision to someone Civ 5 is my choice over Batman AA, Just Cause 2, Metro 2033.

There is something special about the tabletop map in 3D which is lacking in 2D.
Hard to explain but I would rate Civ 5's graphics in 2D = 5/10 but in 3D, 8/10. I'm playing this in 3D! :)
I have just got this game and its great! I know I am 3D f@nboy but I really like playing this in 3D. I played it in 2D for about 10 minutes when I was eating  and the game wasnt anywhere near as nice to look at. Lord, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.
