OH NO! NO 3D VISION SUPPORT FOR CALL OF DUTY MODERN WARFARE 3 EITHER is this a joke???
1 / 2
I didn't say anything when BF3 was released but this is beyond my patience. Really.
I always play only campaigns and don't use multiplayer at all. Simply don't like it so i hate to wait for any patches. Ones i finish campaign i never go back to the game. A year ago purchased nVidia 3D Vision and waited especially for my two favorite titles. BF3 ($60) and COD-MW3 another ($60). At first i could not believe there's no 3D vision support in BF3 at the release date but i said to myself well ok i can forget it since new Call of Duty is just behind the corner. And now what did i just learned?!?!? No 3D nVidia vision support in this game either!!!!! Are You serious????!!! I'm so disappointed. Really. Second and biggest game of the year won't work in 3D?!?! I really can't believe how nVidia let this happen. I know it's not their fault from technical point of view but since they sold so much 3D equipment to us should they put some more pressure on games developers???? Come on nVidia! We spent good amount of money to play these games in 3D! Yes mainly BF3 and COFMW3 not super mario or other weird titles. We want to be able to play blockbusters! That's why we all bought this equipment for. How many days before release dates did You know already that both games won't work in 3D? I was so upset with BF3 couple of weeks ago when i find out it won't work in 3D. Of course i already paid for it then and now i have the same exactly issue. I would never ever expect that CODMW3 won't work in 3D either until i purchased it. Very disappointed! Extremely disappointed! NVidia does this mean we won't be able to play blockbusters ever again at release date???? I don't want to wait again and again for patches. I finish BF3 campaign few days ago in 2D because i couldn't wait any longer. I can't explain my pain. I'm sure i'm not the only one here. This is really beyond everything...
...very sad FPS gamer...and until today fan of 3D Vision...

I understand your frustration, I too play only single player campaigns, no multiplayer. But jumping the gun and playing in weak 2D mode didn't fix anything. Games are fun only the first time through, so now BF3 is permanently ruined for you. BF3 is available in 3D, but it's got one major flaw. There's a chance that this one flaw will be corrected, so you should have waited to see.

We've provided over hundreds of 3D Vision setups to developers all over the world. Some choose to support it and work to make the experience better - Battlefield 3 (in a patch), Batman Arkham City, L.A. Noire, Sonic Generations, Hard Reset, etc.
Other developers don't choose to put as much effort into it. Heck, the MW3 engine is still a DirectX 9 engine, its not even DirectX 11. Does that mean we failed to engage them on supporting DirectX 11?

I think Nivida could use a more interesting test program and .exe type 3D demo/s with maybe some helper objects, like green [for obvious reasons] arrows going into the screen to act as visual cues as to the depth and separation amount, as its not easy to see whats happening, especially when your new to 3D and ESPECIALLY, with the current test program, because of the fact that the logo and the Nvidia letters are moving. When i used it, it was unclear as to what i should be focusing on getting right. I wish you had different scene settings, for the cool factor and to show the potential.... like a crowd of people at a station in Metro 2033, or some other cool scene. I just realized having people in it might help people see whats going on while changing the settings around, since the human form is such a familiar shape and size. Also, the screenshots at least could use some major updating, none of them even remotely portray the best 3D experiences i've had with 3D. ....and maybe set the depth slider to a medium default...I don't know, just ideas....
I just can't fathom how Todd Howard could come to that opinion, his game is perfect for 3D.

nV cannot force devs to support 3d. Your inflated sense of entitlement is astounding, and your ire is grossly misguided. Not long ago there weren't any 3d ready games at all, and it was by sheer luck that a game looked good in 3d. However, nV has transformed 3d gaming into something that is being supported by myriad developers in many games. 3d vision still isn't in every household, but it has grown substantially, due to the efforts of nV to that effect.
If you have a problem, bug and pressure the devs, nV cannot do anything but make the deals it can (they do) and try to provide the tools (which they also do).
The 3d gaming library has grown very substantially, but it is not reasonable to expect every single game to be 3d ready when devs simply aren't always on board with it.

CODMW3 works in 3D. Just fire it up, turn on the Nvidia lasersight and play. The experience for me is pretty much the same as MW2.

Photios, I too think COD MW3 works in 3D, but there's a major issue, the 2D crosshair. Is there a way to disable the 2D crosshair? I am using the Nvidia 3D laser sight, but it's very annoying to play and aim the targets with the 2D crosshair, it's reeeeeeeeeeealy annoying...
I really appreciate if someone can figure out a way to eliminate that 2D crosshair. Thx..

Please, anyone know a workaround for disabling the 2D crosshair??? BTW, I figured out that you have to disable shadows to play MW3 in 3D, otherwise they're rendered in 2D, very annoying, so turn shadows off in the in game menu options.
I also realized that you see different brightness settings in the glasses lens, like you can notiice a scene is darker in the left lens and brighter in the right lens, very weird and bothers your sight while playing.
Definatelly a bugged 3D, but somehow playable, if I could at least disabled the damn 2D crosshair.

i mean its like they are not even addressing it even though they were advertising it as 3d ready...

Really?. Imho most of BF3 advertising was for Multiplayer. I only saw some tech notes saying frostbite 2 can support 3d for amd and nvidia graphics cards.

Years ago when I worked with the engineers and FAEs at 3DFX, I learned that 3DFX staffs evangelists who's job is to work with developers to further 3DFX's interests. Maybe things have changed since then, dunno. I'd like Andrew to comment on this.

Does that answer your question Roller?

This is really beyond everything...

nV cannot force devs to support 3d.

Thx..

Please, anyone know a workaround for disabling the 2D crosshair??? BTW, I figured out that you have to disable shadows to play MW3 in 3D, otherwise they're rendered in 2D, very annoying, so turn shadows off in the in game menu options.

Hmm..
I think this should fix the thing for you...I don't know if applies to single monitors or multimonitors setups only:

I know this may have been asked 100 times but do we know at all when Dice will make the 3d vision work?
i mean its like they are not even addressing it even though they were advertising it as 3d ready...

Really?. Imho most of BF3 advertising was for Multiplayer. I only saw some tech notes saying frostbite 2 can support 3d for amd and nvidia graphics cards.
