DOOM 3 - 77.77 Stereo Drivers no good! NVIDIA: PLEASE FIX!
A message to NVidia; please resolve the broadly noted issue where Doom 3 frame rates plummet when using Stereo3d 77.77 drivers.

Thanks! We look forward to using your 3d tech on this great game and it's expansion pack, Resurrection of Evil.

Anyone else who adds to this post can help to inform Nvidia that this is a driver problem that requires resolve. (!)

I registered only for this post.

Its the same with the 78.01 drivers! Doom runs like a cripple in stereo!
(3500 AMD64 with 7800gt)

And I cant use older drivers because they wont support my gfx card!

I wanna play this game finally in stereo! Please update the drivers and make sure DOOM 3 is playable in stereo!!!

Set this in autoexec.cfg
r_useShadowVertexProgram "0"
r_skipPostProcess "1"

Hi guys,

Too much time on my hands at work!

Question : I'm getting artifacts in the Doom 3 demo. Parts of the floor and walls flash black.

I'm pretty sure it's not an overclocking issue as the game runs perfectly fine in 2D mode, and I can run BF2 and Fear in 3D no problem.

Also, the flashing happens at exactly the same places every time.

I have turned the shadows off from the video setup screen - should I do something more?

Are others getting this problem?

Although I'm using the famous BETA, this problem happened in 78.01 as well.

I'm running 1152 X 864 100Mhz. Antialliasing makes no difference.

Regards,
Chopper

Hi everyone,

I made a scary discovery, and I'm not sure what to make of it.

I have a 6800GS PCI (EVGA) 256MB. AMD 3200+ Socket 754.

1 GB Ram.

I tried the above adjustments, but they made no difference.

So, turned my overclocking off completely, and there is a definate improvement.

However, even at native speed, I will get occasional artifacts in Doom 3 demo.

Now, I'm able to run overclock at 490Mhz GPU, 1100Mhz memory (native is 425 GPU, 1000Mhz).

I have played BF2, Fear, and Call of Duty 2 flawlessly, no artifacts, for hours.

What bothers me is if removing my overclock greatly improved the Doom 3 problem, why would my card still be producing occasional artifacts at native speed?

Is my card damaged, somehow?

How can I rule this out?

I am currently running 3dmark 2005 with the overclock repeatedly in 3d - there are no artifacts so far.

In Doom 3, the artifacts get going almost right away in overclock mode. I could predict exactly where they will be, too - always in the same places.

What is interesting is according to RIVATuner, my card doesn't go higher than 70 degrees...the artifacts happen well before it gets to this point.

All help appreciated,

I may have jumped the gun a bit, I'm sorry.

I ran Doom 3 again without the overclock, and I think the glitch I saw was a slight driver flicker rather than an artifact.

For the life of me, I can't figure out why a perfectly stable overclock in 2D would suddenly pose a dramatic problem in 3D - and only in one game!

I guess I'll have to start from scratch and work my way up 5Mhz at a time again.

Anyone else have this experience?

Chopper ;)

Never have, never will overclock :)

Results are marginal at best anway. Youre messing around with your card only to get what? 5-10 percent in very high resolutions.
