I'm new here since until this very morning I was gaming on the Ati X1900XT
I chose for nVidia because of the stereoscopic possibilities.
In the near future I'm planning to buy a 3d-monitor, but I don't know what the best choice is.
So I got 2 questions (to both iz3d-gamers and zalman-gamers):
1. Could you post some performance comparisons (e.g. Zalman, Cod4 1680x1050 60fps without 3d, 30fps with 3d; or iz3d, Crysis 1680x1050 medium: 35fps without 3d, 25fps with 3d)
2. Could someone post a picture (taken with a cam, not a screenshot) through one of the glasses(thus for one eye), so I get an idea how much stereoscopic crosstalk("ghosting") there is, and how ugly it is with the Zalman that it is interlaced.

Let me first say that I don't own either 3d monitor yet, but should be picking up one soon. I did get a chance to test the drivers on my machine (in anaglyph mode). Both had somewhat of a hit in performance (10-20%), but if you have a good video card it won't be a problem. I didn't do any real benchmarks, I am just eyeballing the performance.
The COD4 demo with the nvidia 3d drivers did have a glitch on one level that hurt performance a bunch. This might only be on the demo, because the other levels are fine. There was also issues with the HUD and other 2D elements. After a little tweaking I was able to get a decent stereo3d effect. The iz3d driver overall worked much better on COD4. The HUD looked fine, stereo 3d depth was impressive. Better performance overall.
On Crysis w/ the nvidia driver I was getting decent performance, but only because I had to set the settings so low. You have to turn shadows and motion blur *off*,and shaders and post-processing to medium, so the game doesn't really look as good as it does on very high, which uses DX10 shaders. Keep in mind this is at 800x600 resolution. I'm not sure what kind of computer you would need to run Crysis at 1680x1050 in 3d. Unfortunately I couldn't test Crysis with the iz3D driver because that particular game is ATI only for some reason.
I did some other game comparisons here:
http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtop...46entry379846
Also, before you buy a 3d monitor, make sure you have the right computer setup. The Zalman Trimon monitor *only* works with nvidia cards. Your ATI card will not work with it. The iz3D monitor supports both nvidia and ati cards, as well as Windows XP and Vista. The Zalman is Vista 32-bit only. However, both solutions will work with 8800 series nvidia cards, which had limited stereo3d support in the past.

Hmm... after I read about your experience I really prefer the iz3d, but that one isn't for sale in Holland :(
I used shutterglasses, that was interlaced too, and I hated the black lines.
But from iz3d-users I read that there is stereoscopic crosstalk. I hate it when I see with my left eye something that is meant for my right eye. Could someone still make a picture with a camera through one of the glasses? If I have to buy the iz3d, I can not test it beforehand(I have to order it from 5000 miles to the east), so in that case I really want to be sure I won't regret it.

UPDATE: I found photographs in which I can see how bad the ghosting (and apparently color-difference) is on a iz3d monitor:

Could someone post a few pictures such as in the link above. If you don't have a stereoscopic camera, just take 2 pictures so I can see ghosting/color difference, it doesn't have to be 3d/cross-eyed.

Sorry no pics. If it was me I would pass on the IZ3d. I did buy it and did return it. I have a 24" and because the iz3d has two lcds the text it kinda blur. If you turn 3d on and adjust it just a little its ok. But I really like 3d and man ghosting everywhere in every game. I can use the driver for red/blue and have more fun, sharper and on 24in. But everyone is different. Just make sure which ever you buy you can RETURN it. But you may just love it. So try it..

Sorry, I'm having a little trouble understanding... you didn't like the ghosting and colour tint so you now play with anaglyph because its better and more fun.... umm what?!

Please also read the whole review. At the bottom i say that the cameras somehow enhances the colordifference a bit. Regarding the ghosting i posted pics of both worst experienced ghosting (portal) and average game ghosting. Overall when gaming the ghosting is noticeable but not disturbing (except from some views). The colortinting is no problem for me since my eyes adapts just after a few seconds of gaming. I also have to add that i do have a dual projection rig but still games mostly on the iz3d. Of course the better stereodrivers (newer games compability) does it but the iz3d is also very handy. Dual projectors are expensive and the lamps really dislikes when turning on/off for short periodes. Occasional gaming suits the iz3d much better but of course it can't kick the dual projection rig.
cheers
