Mitsubishi or other checkerboard-based 3D displays easier on GPU?
I've been thinking of gong to 3DV-Surround as I mentioned in another post, but worried about the reports on how taxing it is to run triple-wide 1080p in 3D. But then I read most of the benchmarks have been via 120hz 3D LCD monitors running dual-link DVI. Does the situation change w/ checkerboard 3D ala my Mits 60" DLP set? I use a GTX470SC which I've got a nice, stable and pretty high overclocked GPU setting that works well for 1080p in 3D Vision.

I would need to go SLI for 3DV-Surround of course, so that would naturally mean a second 470. But reports show even some SLI 480s struggling w/ certain games. I play mostly racing sims, which for the most part are not as tough (sometimes much easier) than the real taxing games like Metro 2033. So anyway, I got to thinking if checkerboard is "less" resolution (as some have knocked it for in the past), does that make it an easier picture to drive for the GPU? Because I can get a good deal on two additional DLPs which are last years model, but I'd hate to have to get all that setup only to have it slow to a crawl on surround @ 5760x1080 in 3D! Maybe w/ checkerboard it's more feasible?

Wow, I just discovered this nugget- looks like 3DV surround isn't even supported on DLP TVs, despite being fully 3D Vision compatible otherwise:

3D Vision-Ready LCDs require dual-link DVI connectors and will not work with HDMI connectors. However, you can use HDMI connectors with 3D Vision Projectors that support HDMI input.

Note: 3D DLP HDTVs do use HDMI connectors, but 3D Vision Surround does not support using 3D DLP TVs

UGH!!!!!!! WHY NOT? Does anyone know if DLP will ever be possible for 3DV Surround? Would be nice to know being as I have one, and crazy as it sounds to think about using 3 x 60" monitors, heck, they are under $800 right now and I'd do it if it would work. What a buzzkill. Wonder if that can be fixed w/ an updated driver or hack in the future? Otherwise I might have to go back to 720 projectors, but the RP DLP is very nice.
