3d wired glasses set up on 19 inch CRt monitor what resolution and refresh rate

I have been given a 19 inch viewsonic crt monitor.
what would the best screen resolution and refresh rate for wired 3d glasses.
I am using a Asus gforce 7600gs 512 pci-E silent video card
Personally, which ever hertz refresh rate is the highest. I also have a 19-in CRT monitor and at 1024x768 I can get 120 hertz. The higher the resolution, the lower the hertz. The lower the hertz, the more flickering you will have on the screen (more headaches! :) ). Give that a try!

I went to my monitor setting and at a screen resolution of 1152x864 it would only go as high as 85 hz. Un-checked the box that said hide modes that this monitor cannot display and it went up to 170. Not game to go past 85hz

No problem. I may have the exact same model that you have. Mine is also a Viewsonic (black) CRT 19-in. If you fool around in your Monitor properties (right-click desktop -> Properties -> Settings -> Advanced btn -> Monitor tab) you can adjust your hertz refresh rate quite easily. Remember, you must have your desktop resolution set to a lower setting than it currently is to have the hertz go up. Try 1024x768 and you will have the option to raise the hertz to 120. Once that is done, you can easily use those settings in your game in stereo.

My hint: Google for the technical details for your specific display and look for the maximal vertical refresh rate in different resolutions. If you don't find these infos, then send an email to the manufacturer.
Believe me, it's better than buying a new display.
Btw: Everything from 100Hz is enough for most of us. I usually play at 1024x768 and 110Hz, because the max vertical refresh at 1024x768 for my display is 120Hz and I don't want to stress it too much. And I don't see a difference between 110Hz and 120Hz. (But 85Hz is not enough!)

look here for the specs of your monitor and you'll see a max refresh of 116Hz at 1024x768 ... ;)
additionally you could try to install the driver for your monitor so that the system can properly identify the display and its actual specs instead of relying on DDC

Rage helped me with some steps (see other recent post about "works on some games") and now I have been able to get GTR2 to run (albeit inconsistently) with 93.71 drivers. Thanks for getting back to me on this.

I am getting a freeze when I run the 7600GT OCE PCIe card in GTR2.
I think it will freeze all my games, maybe the only exception being gpl.
I have a Core2Duo 6400 with 1 Gig ram. Thanks.
