Has anyone got this to work with 3DTvPlay? I bought this via steam and its already patched to 2.4. 3DVision driver reports the support as good, but no 3D what so ever. Tv kicked into 3D mode and I can see nvidia cursor at depth.
Tried iZ3D driver but it doesn't like hdmi 3Dtv.
Why does 3Dvision report "good" if another driver is needed?
Any help greatly appreciated :-)

Stack it, yes. Eats performance like crazy but shouldnt matter with SS2. Set 3D vision to minimum depth and reduce convergence all the way. Set tridef to 120hz [whatever its called].

Thanks eqzitara,
But I cant get any direct 3D display to work with tridef. Always get stereo device could not be started error. Perhaps 3DTVPlay and tridef stacking isn't possible like 3DVision?
Cheers

Try installing a non-steam version of SS2.

Thanks for posting Portol,
Yes it is the steam version that is broken. I can get the GOG version working fine with both tridef and also 3DVision (+iZ3D). The latter working the best of the 2.
Thanks again, much appreciated. Wouldn't have got it working without your help,
Cheers

Pyrocles.
Check that SS2 is running in dx9.
Here's how I do it.
Install msi afterburner or evga precision.
setup on-screen display to show on-screen FPS and other gpu stats.
In dx9 games, you will see text "D3D9" on-screen.
If you do not see any such text on-screen, it means that SS2 is running in the original dx6.
If it is running in dx6, then re-install the NewDark patch for SS2.

After SS2 is running in dx9, and after all mods are installed, remember to change 'shock2.exe' to 'thief3.exe'

Why is that needed by any chance? If game is not running with 3D vision [Depth/convergence is 0] no?
I am unfamiliar as to why a rename is necessary in this case and am curious.

I can not give you a definite correct answer because I am unsure. Some people do not need to rename the exe. Reports from AMD + Tridef users say 3D works for them with only Tridef. Here's another oddity. I am able to adjust depth/convergence using the emitter and 3D Vision shortcuts, and also with iZ3D shortcuts. We are extrememly lucky that more than one 3D driver can be used in SS2. Occasionally, I forget to turn off the iZ3D driver, before starting a different game, and the game will not start because the iZ3D driver and Nvidia 3D driver are usually not compatible.
To answer your question, my best guess is .... iZ3D driver and Nvidia 3D driver expect dx6 while shock2.exe is running. On ttlg forums, someone mentioned "drawing to the wrong buffer". Since thief3.exe is a dx9 game, perhaps one or both drivers will know to access the correct buffer in order to display both left/right images for dx9 stereoscopic 3D. This is just a guess. I could be wrong.

At least I wasnt only one who thought it was strange, Ill check it out. I know there are "null profiles" like I cant use nvapi on them. It might be one of them.

I had a thought. Has anyone tried this with dx11 games with tridef by anychance? If its profile related as to why it wont let certain games run. It may be the reason why DX11 games dont run on tridef + 3d vision "stacked" on 120hz mode.
Can someone try to rename/profile a dx11 game to thief 3 and load tridef. Something tells me it will work.[will still eat crazy performance though[]
