ice age has practically no depth at all...it's amazing how flat it looks, even though I realize that it IS true 3D. They must not have rendered the left/right views properly to get more depth. Disappointing.
Grand Canyon Adventure looks great, as does Coraline, Monsters vs. Aliens and Cloudy...but they ARE holding back on the IN YER FACE off-the-screen thing that has given the 3D genre a bad rap in the past.
I had seen both My Bloody Valentine and Coraline in the theaters, and the 3D was muted there as well (and in particular, the 'real world' scenes in Coraline are purposely a little more flat than the 'other world' scenes...this is explained in the director commentary at around the 17 min point). But it was very obvious when I saw these at the theater that they were no "Friday the 13th Part 3 in 3D"s with the objects flying at your face constantly.
I think Ice Age has the most pop out and pop in of any 3D movie and I have them all (and all the demo discs). Must be something wrong with your setup.

Honestly: Going from gameplay with 100% depth to watching movies will always be dissappointing for the used stereogamer because:
1: Movies are generally are made for big cinema screens which means less separation has to be used compared to a 22" screen.
2: Moviemakers have to consider firsttimeviewers and simply can't use the same very high separations as used stereogamers do.
Until a movie is released as a script for a gameengine there is no possibility to change the 3d-depth. Convergence can be adjusted but that's all.
Maybe in the future intelligent conversionsoftwares might be able to extract and construct models in 2d- or 3d-movies and create a script including models, textures etc. This will give the oppurtunity to change parameters of the scenes freely when playing the movie using a graphic engine. If even possible this will be years off in future though.

As a newbie, I have tried to surround myself with all the correct tools in order to avoid any issues or problems. I have purchased the 3D "Cloudy with chance of Meatballs" to play on my new gaming PC. I have a Blu-Ray burner, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 275, two 120Hz monitors (primary: ACER GD235hz - second:ViewSonic VX2265wm). All running on Windows 7 on an AMD Phenom II clocked at 3.40GHz. I purchased the second (ACER) monitor because I read that the ViewSonic was not capable of 3D movie, only 3D games. I have various players at my disposal; The very latest Cyberlink PowerDVD 10, VLC Regardless, the issue is that the movie will not allow me to view in 3D. The movie starts, then prompts for 2 or 3D then says that that it requires a 3D TV and player to view this movie. I have also tried to play the movie on the NVIDIA 3D Vision Video Player but all attempts to view the movie will not initiate the 3D Glasses emitter. I have used the test diags, played games and it all works great but I was hoping to have a 3D experience on my PC... sofar, no luck
So far I have seen Cloudy with a chance of meatballs, Grand canyon adventure, and ice age 3 and none of these movies made me go "wow." There isn't much depth as far as I can tell and there is no pop-out in these movies. At most- there appears to be a slight depth to the picture but thats nothing to be wowed about. I am using a acer h5360 projected onto a white screen that spans 115 inches diagonally. I watch in the dark. I would like others opinions on 3d movies.
I also have an Acer H5360 and have been getting a fair bit of popout with a 100" screen setup. So far I've watched Cloudy, Grand Canyon Adventure and Bob's Big Break. Bob's Big Break had the most popout for me- 2.3 metres popout sitting 4.5 metres from the screen. Cloudy and Grand Canyon didn't have as much popout but depth was really good. Will watch Monsters vs tonight.Have you tried maxing out depth in both the Nvidia settings and PowerDVD settings? Have you set screen size to maximum in PowerDVD? Did you increase convergence (F6) while watching the Nvidia 3D test logo and save the settings? (F7). For some reason the convergence setting has more effect watching the Nvidia demo than watching blurays. So what you need to do is, while you're viewing the Nvidia 3D test logo, hold down F6 for a while until just after your eyes start to get sore and save settings (F7). Then when you switch to watching 3D bluray, the convergence setting should be just right and you should get more popout. I'm really impressed with the 3D popout ability of the H5360 so it's probably just your settings holding you back now.

My GTX 275 on Quad core will not play 3D BluRay (Both on Acer projector and Acer 24" Monitor which work with 3D games)
- I've tried it all and it just doesn’t work, the best it will do is play at half speed so that the sound gets out of synch, and after about 30 seconds it skips to catch up with the sounds... its rubbish
Btw you say you tried NVIDIA 3D Vision Video Player, 3DBR how ??

Grand Canyon Adventure looks great, as does Coraline, Monsters vs. Aliens and Cloudy...but they ARE holding back on the IN YER FACE off-the-screen thing that has given the 3D genre a bad rap in the past.
