He's implying that SSRS can somehow be disabled which then gives NVIDIA 3D Vision full reign. However I don't think that is possible. I just tried the demo and as soon as you turn on NVIDIA 3D vision the game detects it and turns on the SSRS I assume.
I have to admit though, it looks really really good and is very easy on the eyes. I can see the 3D effect. The only problem is the their crosshair doesn't adjust at far depth quick enough. The nvidia 3d laser crosshair is superior compared to their crosshair. The nvidia 3d laser crosshair doesnt' lag like Crytek's. Anyone else notice this?
The game has an option to disable the in game crosshair. I tried using nvidia's laser crosshair but it won't show up for some reason. I guess NVIDIA is completely shut out, but i mean that is the way it's supposed to be the game devs are supposed to do the work anyways.
Either way Crytek should add an option that gives us control over convergence and this game would be a winner. They probably will, i mean starcraft has it, world of warcraft has it.
I think it's time to make some posts on the crytek forum. :)

EVERYTHING lags in that game. EVERYTHING. It's part of their trade off, their input lag must be huge. Plus , you re missing the point if you think SRSS is any good without careful settings, whereas with standard 3d you going to get extra spatial information either way, no matter what. SRSS has no extra spatial but blur tricks and soap opera effect.

I find the 3d to be very pleasant on the eyes, its not overly strong and i find that its usable in mp which is hard to say of other fps in mp. Its the lack of things like litter flying around and debris on the ground that is "painted" on the surface that there is no 3d rendering for that makes the game look flat to me. From the demo so far i think that the full sp will be a good 3d experience

I can clearly see the shortcomings, it's so easy to demonstrate, Crytex going to get the flak for that too if they going to pretend this is true stereo. It isn't . It's shameless PR.

& I feel bad for Nathan Camarillo, he *had* to do that interview over geforce.com. Don't you see the man is struggling with the words? /sad.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
Crytex you might be 3D ready, but definately not DLP ready.

I played the multiplayer demo and I didn't have any lag with 3D turned on. Maybe I didn't play long enough but when I whip my mouse around it was smooth. Oh i see, no convergence with depth map 3d. What an inferior technology then lol.
Hmmmmm, I wonder if there will be a way to disable SSRS? In the menu settings there is an option called Stereo 3D: Driver .. The driver part is greyed out. Does that have anything to do with anything? I wonder if it's own 3D rendering could be turned off paving the way for nvidia to make a profile? But then it may go back to square 1 with crysis not being good for 3d or too much of an FPS hit?
Just have to wait and see. But ultimately there was still a decent 3D effect even without convergence.

Crysis 2 seems to have a radius of 1-2 feet from the player, when objects enter this radius they are given full 3D depth. For example, the gun is rendered in full 3D, if you get very close to a corner of a wall it will be rendered in full 3D, and everything else not inside this radius is rendered with cheap 3D (no depth) this is in order to conserve a steady performance.
I'm assuming there is a setting for increasing this 3D radius, so that more objects are rendered in full 3D, a console command maybe??
Sorry, English is not my first language. /unsure.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

hate 2 to have an Argument From Authority, but
when digital foundry says it's fake , then it's fake , & imho its subpar at that too .

I think when people on this forum are referring to fake 3D it's to point out that it is not 3D like we normally see with 3d Vision. Crytek does some tricks to make certain parts of the screen 3D as some others have pointed out here already. We can tweak some of those settings to make it better overall but it is not the same as us 3D Vision owners are used to. I give Crytek credit for coming up with a method that doesn't affect performance too much and that is a good thing for console gamers and those PC users with older systems. I am just wishing there was a way to disable their method and use 3D Vision like we are used to, even if it impacts performance as it always does.

Agree.
Nvidia needs to rescue us from this inferior method (screen space reprojection) by just giving a driver update that allows us to use the full stereo 3DVision method.
I assume that the greyed-out "Driver" selection is intended for this, but let's hope it gets implemented soon.
I am confident that Crysis 2 would be a great stereoscopic experience using full dual image rendering, with depth and convergence unlocked.

Hi
The developer has chosen to render the game in 3D on its own. Please provide your feedback to Crytek if you want additional features. They do have their own message boards and it would probably be good for anyone who wants additional 3D modes to post there.
