5 meters is pushing it to the max. The maximum length of any 2.0 cable is 5 meters. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Universal_Serial_Bus#Cabling To do that you are going to need a very high quality and probably expensive cable. To use a lesser quality cable you can probably put a powered hub in the path. That might work with your 5 Meter cable too, if it's signal degradation.

Why not use DLP Link glasses? But yah, you need a powered hub. I use one to extend mine by 3 meters.

You might be able use an active extender, something like this. 32ft 10M USB 2.0 A Male to A Female Active Extension / Repeater Cable (Kinect & PS3 Move Compatible Extension) http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=103&cp_id=10303&cs_id=1030312&p_id=6149

I use 5m extended usb cable for my emitter. Works great. Bought the cheapest one, about $8. USB a male to a female extension cable 5m.

Yes that's an active one but, like nelieto said, you might not need one, maybe just a better cable? Although at least in USD, $10, that does seem like a reasonable deal, in the US Radio Shack it's 3 times as much, $30.

If that's actually the problem then it should work, just to be certain you have plugged the emitter directly into the USB port and it works fine, correct?
