Optoma Pro350W 3D Ready Projector I bought one!
  1 / 3
I ordered it from Amazon and should receive it before Christmas. I hope generic DLP at least functions with this but would hope to see formal support coming from Nvidia.

Andrew, is Nvidia looking to support the new Optoma projectors? They seem be have a much broader US presence in the projector market than Acer...

I will update this thread once received and set up.

Yes. Native resolution is 1280 x 800. It is about 10% brighter than the HD66 and Acer h5360 so hopefully it will help combat shutterglasses. I hope I don't have to resort to begging for driver support.

Cool, I would have bought the HD66 myself, but nVidia doesn't seem in any hurry to say it's supported. Plus I'd REALLY like to see the price of the Acer here in the U.S. Interested to know how this projector works for you.

Well, i received the Optoma Pro350w yesterday! I have it ceiling mounted and all plugged in just to run some tests but still have a lot of cable routing to work through. In short, I have yet to be able to get 3DVision to work but honestly only spent about 45 minutes with it. First, Windows 7 doesn't recognize the correct projector model number. I will need to fiddle with it more tomorrow (update drivers to latest beta, see if i can correct the Windows 7 detection issue). A little bummed... Sure would like to see an Nvidia Christmas present in the form of drivers that support this.

Are you planning on keeping it if the 3D vision doesn't work? Seems like that is the first thing you should make sure works before you mount and run all the cables...

Hawkman, going through major home theater mods at the moment and don't have it all together yet. I just finished painting the screen today (decided to go the Behr Silverscreen route and am quite pleased with the result). What driver version are you using, 1.15? I am not really gaining much with the Pro350w as it will only do 3D at 1280x720 res.

PiXeL Yes i am using the 115 still waiting for a dlp fix for the sammy.I also am on the 1280x720 bandwagon but i have to say have been very impressed even at the lower res.I see you say your using Behr Silverscreen are you building a dual projection rig?I own a HD65,was one of the reasons for going with the HD66 they are preety close, figured could try a dual set up one of these days.Good luck with the re-vamp of your home theater

Hawkman, the Behr Silverscreen I am referring to is an alternative to purchasing actual screen material. You simply paint it onto the wall just like any other paint. There is an ongoing thread on the AVS forums dedicated to the topic and you can google behr silverscreen to find more. The paint is available at Home Depot and is a very inexpensive option! Cost me $30 and I am very pleased with the results so far. I applied two primer coats and 3 Silverscreen coats. The paint won't cure for a while but again, I am impressed with results. I will post some pics once i have it completed.

PiXeL, hey thanks for the info, had read in one of the forums that some silversreens used for polarized projection used special paint. There was mixed results on the finish. What is your finished screen size? Would love to see some pics when you are done

Hawkman, Behr Silverscreen is just the name of the paint and is not compatible with polarization. Sorry for the confusion.
On a separate note, i am becoming increasingly frustrated with my Optoma. It is detected in windows as an EW536 which is the UK version of the Pro350w. 1.19 drivers are useless as they only allow anaglyph. 1.15 allows CRT, DLP, and anaglyph but even this is very problematic and erratic. DLP doesn't work. CRT 3DVision setup can't complete as it continues to default to the native res of the projector instead of 1280 x 720. Since 120hz is only available at or below 720p i have to "guess" when you are asked to close one eye and identify the appropriate shape. Going into the stereo test app (spinning nvidia logo) is also sporadic as the projector doesn't always want to sync with the signal and when it does it doesn't last. I tried several resolutions and refresh rates with no consistent results. I tried running Avatar but can't select 720p res at 120hz because the projector once again loses sync with the signal (blue screen until escaping out of nvidia app). Not sure what to try next. How is your HD66 working for you?

PiXeL, Sorry to hear about frustrations I'm thinking it is the driver situation. My HD66 is getting the same detection EW536 again back to the driver. I use a Sammy 50in. DLP for most, when gaming or watching movies I'll bust out the 120in. (HD66) Having the same problem with Avatar cant get it to reconize the 120hz mode keeps reverting back to 60hz so this is for sure a in game problem (driver) The HD66 is working great of course i dont run the setup on it, just switch to CRT in control panel. The test (spinning nvidia logo) works with out any problems at all. Most of my games work perfectly fine. I have the FS version of Coraline from 3D Underground and its amazing in fact was so impressed just order all the HD's that they have. I'm still using the 1.15 also until the 1.19 gets corrected for the sammys. Keep me posted on your progress
