why is there no support for 9800m series
I can believe the notebook/laptop drivers for 3D vision are finally here. But there is no support for 9800m series why. I know it is capable of handling it cause the 9800m gts is the 250m (with some adjustments) and it is supported so why cant it been done on the 9800m series. Ive bought the monitor(alienware optx aw2310) and the 3D vision kit with the hope when the released these drive I would be able to do stereo. But I'm left here in tiers that my card is not supported. So now I have to wait until next year. When I have another 1000.00 to buy a better laptop with a 250 or higher gpu. Unless they release the next drive with support for the 9800m series(doubt it but maybe.) I know a lot of ppl bought these laptop with the 9800 series maybe if I can find enough ppl that want this on there 9800m series card they just might add these cards to the mix.. So what im trying to ask is if you have this series and you want 3D vision to be enabled on your system then comment here please..

I only can speak about 3D-Vision-Discover cause I don't have the 3D-Vision-Glasses.
3D-Vision-Discover works fine on the 9800M GT. But I have to use an older driver(190.38 modded). Newer drivers work too but only on external displays which seems to be a bug cause Red/Cyan glasses don't need a special display.
BUG REPORT: 3D-Vision-Discover can't be enabled !

So I guess when I get 3D-Vision-Discover running you should be able to run the shutter glasses. The 9800M has been supported by all notebook-driver-releases.

Be sure that you have a Dual-Link-DVI connector in your notebook ( HDMI doesn't work - missing additional data wires). And your DVI cable should be Dual-Link-Capable too (should be packed with the monitor).

Yes 3D discover does work and with the new laptop driver for this series and up to the 360m and with the new 3d vision drivers it does not give you any problem. But my Problem is in the shutter glasses. See I bought the 3d kit and the alienware monitor(the 3d one). I can get the monitor to work unless I do a res of 1280 x 720 and 75 hz (but then it's only working some what) there's a message at the bottom telling me 3d mode is not on blah blah. I know what the problem is but I cant get the monitor into 120hz even if I set up my own custom res. I believe it is in the drivers that it wont let me change the Hertz that high. Even in lower resolutions I can get it in 120hz mode. In 720p I can with a custom res but then the option to chose it in game is gone. So like i said it's got to be the drivers. And yes I'm using a dual link DVI-D with dual link DVI-D to Hdmi adapter that can do both single and dual link signal and I have tried to do this in 1920 x 1080 but it wont go over a 60hz refresh.

The HDMI adapter is the problem. You never get 1920x1080@120Hz over HDMI. HDMI doesn't have the additional data wires that Dual-Link-DVI has.

Type B
This connector (21.2 mm × 4.45 mm) has 29 pins and can carry double the video bandwidth of Type A, for use with very high-resolution future displays such as WQUXGA (3840×2400).

The Type A connector is the standard 19pin connector every device has. Type B with 29pins has never been used anywhere - so there is no Dual-Link over HDMI.

You really need to use a laptop with a Dual-Link-DVI-connector and use the Dual-Link-DVI connector on the Alienware Monitor.

The latest Verde Notebook drivers and 3D Vision drivers (CD 1.24) do work just fine with 9800M GT cards on a laptop that has a Dual-Link DVI output, although they are not listed in the supported hardware page. So the problem in your case is not the lack of support, but actually the lack of the right video output on your laptop...

The order is a little bit confusing :)

And he really needs a Dual-Link-DVI Connector in his Laptop. HDMI will not work.

Hmm, even Fermi doesn't have HDMI 1.4 . But a 3D-ready DLP-TV/-projector could work for you as its driven with 60Hz in checkerboard-mode. But you should test somehow before buying some expensive stuff ;) .

Flint Eastwood, yes I'm the author of the blog. I see you have an XPS M1730 laptop... this one doe have a Dual-Link DVI output and works just fine with an external 120Hz display and 3D Vision ;)

seth zer0, HDMI 1.4 hardware is not required to be able to output stereoscopic 3D content, you can do it over 1.3 with the right software such as the Nvidia 3DTV Play, you'll however need a 3D-ready HDTV that can understand the stereoscopic 3D formats defined in HDMI 1.4/a specification. So your laptop should be able to do that over the HDMI video output too...

From the technical specifications it should work. But I don't know someone who has really tried it on the XPS M1730. Thats the reason I don't have the shutters yet.

Big EDIT: This sounds very promising:
I’ve tried to install the new driver on my Dell XPS M1730 laptop with dual 9800M GT in SLI and I everything installed smoothly and worked like a charm. The GPU driver recognized the video cards and installed without problem, then the 3D Vision driver complained (before connecting the external 120Hz display) of not finding a compatible panel. The interesting thing is that after that there was no Stereoscopic 3D panel present in the NVIDIA Control panel, but after connecting an external 120Hz LCD monitor the Stereoscopic 3D control panel appeared and the stereo 3D mode was working just fine.
I see I should not only visit your site, I should read carefully too :"> . So it is really working on the XPS M1730 - that changes a lot.
And the stupid thing of actually not being able to enable the free 3D Vision Discover mode on your laptop is still present as you get the quite well known error message that your laptop LCD panel is not qualified for 3D Vision as it is not 120Hz. But then again for anaglyph mode you don’t need a special panel, so forget about trying out the “free” anaglyph mode with the 3D Vision on your laptop once again
This is my problem I have with the newer drivers. Discover-mode works only when you have an external display connected(must not be a 120Hz Display) and then it works on the internal display when the external is primary in clone mode.
You can see here.
