Compatibility of GeForce 3D Vision
Hello, I'm asking this question because I'm used to the legacy stereoscopic drivers for Windows XP and I need to know what will change the day I switch to a more modern form of stereoscopy. So:
1) is GeForce 3D Vision compatible with software you make yourself, e.g. with Dark Basic or Irrlicht?
2) Are OpenGL games (Doom 3, Prey, eDuke32, Irrlicht applications with OpenGL renderer) supported?
3) is it possible to use 3D visors such as the Z800 with GeForce 3D Vision?

1) I have no idea about the First question
2) Currently No OpenGL support for gaming under the regular gaming GPUs (OpenGL Works for Quadro Cards)
3) My Z800 is collecting Dust, no current support under 3d Vision.

3D Vision shutter glasses are designed to work only with compatible 120Hz LCD monitors, TVs and projectors... they also provide free anaglyph mode on any normal display. Unfortunately they do not provide support for other S3D hardware like the old stereo drivers. As for eMagin's Z800, it still works only with IZ3D's drivers and Shutter mode (requires up to date firmware), but not very well... so mine is also collecting dust.

Yes, 3D Vision will work with practically any DirectX9 3D engine. I didn't try DBPro or Irrlicht specifically but it works with other engines like Ogre. If your application supports DX9 there is a good chance it will work out-of-box. OpenGL however is no longer supported on the consumer cards. HMDs are also not supported anymore, only the 3D Vision glasses or anaglyph (and also the Zalman Trimon monitor).

I made a test D3D9 application with Irrlicht. Could you try it yourself and tell me if stereoscopy works? The controls are the following:
- look around with the mouse
- move around with the arrow keys
- rotate the robot around the XYZ axes with the Q, W and E keys

EDIT: replaced the wrong link with the correct one.

that program just shows an orange background with a black/white small cube - no robot! (this is without 3d on)

Does that also mean that OpenGL games (as opposed to applications made specifically to run with a Quadro) work in stereo 3D with Quadro cards?
