Graphics Card suitable for both 3D AND 4 K Resolution ? Also with i7-3770 ? Quadro / GeForce for 3D
30/5/12
I am relatively new to this Forum, and very new to 3D.
These are some simple queries first :
A) In this Forum, I can see GeForce topics, but nothing on Quadro Products. Am I missing the link for discussions on nVidia Quadro ? – like say, Quadro NVS 450, Quadro 6000, Quadro Plex 7000 etc (I don’t know the diff betn these Quadro Products, just read these names in their website.) ?
B) http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=172026 says that “3D Vision Surround†Discs are only for Surround Gaming. Fine.
What is the diff betn the Forum : “3D Vision†and the sub-forum : “3D Vision Live†?
************
Now, the main queries :
1) I wish to assemble a new high-end Full-3D PC, using Intel Extreme Edition Processor i7-3960X, suitable for Scientific Computations and also for Intense-Gaming.
I would like to know the Type / Model Number of the most suited nVidia Graphics Card(s).
– Would it be from the Quadro Series (yes, Quadro is recommended for Work Stations, but then, what is the dividing line betn a High-end PC and a Work Station ? ; If Quadro is OK, pl suggest 3 top Quadro nVidia Models.)
– Or, would it have to be from the GeForce Series ? Pl suggest 3 top GeForce nVidia Models also (anyway).
2) The latest highest resolution is the so-called “4K Resolution†:
– Full Aperture 4K : 4096 × 3112 ; 12,746,752 Pixels
– Digital Cinema 4K : 3996 x 2160 ; 8,631,360 Pixels
I would like to know the Type / Model Number of the nVidia Graphics Cards, that are suitable for Displays supporting the above 4K Resolutions, plus also 3D – in both the GeForce and Quadro Series respectively.
One reason for this query is that the foll 2 links on Quadro and GeForce list a max of only 1920 x 1080 resolution displays. :
For Quadro : http://www.nvidia.com/object/3d-vision-pro-requirements.html#Quadro
And for GeForce : http://www.nvidia.com/object/3d-vision-system-requirements.html
3) Intel’s latest i7 Processor in 22 nm Ivy Series is the i7-3770 Basic, K, S, T Processor, which are described to have in-built Graphics capability with HD 4000 Graphics.
It is not clear if / when Intel will come out with an Extreme Edition of i7-3770 (not sure if it is possible in 22 nm, with Tri-Gate ??).
Instead of the above i7-3960X (32 nm Sandy Bridge Proc), if we go in for the latest Ivy i7-3770 Basic, K, S, T (or X) Processor, can we still add an External nVidia 3D Graphics Card ? ie, in such a Motherboard that is suitable for i7-3770, will they provide enough slots (2 PCI Express x 16 Slots required for 3D Graphics Card with SLI ?) ?

Would appreciate if replies are posted quoting the above respective Point Nos – like A, B OR 1, 2, 3 etc – so that we can avoid any ambiguities.
