3D Vision Linux
Hello,

I want go get glxgears -stereo working unter Ubuntu Linux.

I got a Quadro 4000 and the Nvidia 3D Vision Kit. The Ir-Emitter is connected via USB and 3pin mini din.
The Monitor refresh rate is set to 120Hz and compitz and so on is disabled.
If I start glxgears -stereo it shows the stereo glxgears, the glasses are working (shuttering) but the image has extreme ghosting and I don't get any 3D effect.
(3D Vision unter Windows does work with the same hardware)

Can anyone help me?

I [b]confirm[/b] this problem. I have done some troubleshooting and, to the best of my knowlege, narrowed the problem to timing offset.

[b]My hardware:[/b]
Quadro 4000 graphics card
3D Vision shutterglasses + emitter (plugged in to USB & DIN connector)
Elsa wired shutterglasses (plugged in to DIN connector)
Benq XL2420T (not in 3D VISION supported models list, but sucessor to XL2410T which is in the list)
Optoma TX800 (not in 3D VISION supported models list)
DVI-D (Dual-link) video cable

Linux Mint 12 64bit (Based on Ubuntu)
NVIDIA Driver 280.13 (not current driver as of 2012-01-20)

OpenGL Settings: Allow Flipping CHECKED

DIN output on Quadro 4000 card: Regardless of nvidia-xconfig setting, when glxgears is running, output of DIN connector is 60Hz square wave for each eye as observed on oscilloscope.
[size="1"]A side note that the polarization of the ELSA shutterglasses does not line up with the BENQ XL2420T, such that you must tilt your head slightly or all you see is black screen. So I assume they would only be useful if running this screen in portrait mode.[/size]

[b]Conclusion:[/b]
Timing must be adjusted in NVIDIA driver for lag time inherent in the circuitry of this LCD monitor.
( ... & advanced options in nvidia-xconfig should include setting manual timings & driver able to use 85Hz DLP projectors with 3D VISION. I have [color="#8B0000"][size="3"]solved[/size][/color] my timing/ghosting problem above by [b]updating to driver 290.10[/b] (NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-290.10.run - current as of 2012-01-20)

I have solved my timing/ghosting problem above by updating to driver 290.10 (NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-290.10.run - current as of 2012-01-20)



What works now:

A driver update solved the issue for me, too.

It also works with the CUDA Developer Driver Version 285.05.23.
