The new WHQL driver fixed the DX11 path. I might stop downloading betas for a while.
Anyway, Dirt 3 works again. /clap.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

i just want to add that multiplayer / split screen is still an issue with this new driver.

I just bought Dirt 3 on Steam, but unfortunately there is no 3D effect at all.
The 3D Vision rating message appears and the game was correctly detected but no double image but just pure 2D.
I tried the 290.53 as well as the 290.53 driver, same behaviour.
My Setup is a 260 GTX together with an Acer H5360 an Win7 64Bit. All other games work normally in 3D.
Does anbody has a hint why Dirt 3 is not working.
I especially bought it because of the execellent 3D Vision rating as I already enjoyed Dirt 2 very much in 3D.

Have you set the correct frequency ? (120hz)
[/quote]
Yes the resolution and frequency is correct (1280x720 at 120Hz). But the problem stays the same, there is no double image, only a flat 2D image, just like if I turn off 3D (Strg+T). I can also change the depth as well as convergence but with no effect. And I tried it also with an older driver (285.79), but same issue there.

sometimes a couple of alt+enter to switch between full screen and window may help to activate 3d when not activated at startup...good luck!

Thanks for the hint, but unfortunately it did not help. I also tried to deactivate the 3D driver service by a batch skript and activate during the game again, that didn't help neither.

Thanks. I found a setting in the hardware_settings_config.xml file where I just needed to change the stereo enabled setting to true (was false) and also set the forcedx9 to true and it works. It has same issues but still way more awesome in 3D than without.

in the config file hardware_settings_config.xml there are 2 params related to stereoscopic vision : stereo_convergence and separation..does anyone know what they stand for ?...i use the 3d vision convergence adjustment (ctrl +f5 and ctrl+f6..save ctrl+f7) and i love it to get the car slightly before the screen...the races are amazing this way...but the menu get too close and hurt my eyes...anyone knows how to fix this? thx!
also did anyone notice a big performance hit on monaco tracks ? any hint on how to smooth it?

come on ! anyone willing to share how they optimized their convergence settings between menus and races? or at least confirming they have the same issue? thx! (eople playing with the in-car view won't suffer from this as increasing convergence quickly mess things up...but others?)

Your problem is that you are using a very extreme conovergence setting that probably only works with one camera angle. You can obviously continue to play this way but you have to adapt to the fact that the rest of the game will not work with this convergence setting. There is no simple way to use multiple convergence settings and switch between them. I suggest that you find a more universal convergence setting or toggle 3D on and off as needed when 3D "breaks".
The inside car camera is probably the most demanding when it comes to convergence.
Screenshots are taken at 50% depth setting for my 23,6 monitor.
I find it very hard to push depth further on such a small monitor as ghosting can be pretty bad.

thanks for sharing your experience. I guess you're right and as i don't want to Switch continuously and re-tune the convergence between races and menus, i'll stick with a compromise which keeps the car behind the screen instead of before it. It's just so good when you get in game settings that let you define a separate convergence for the game and for the user interface (menus, HUD..) like in trine 2 for instance...I hope this gets more and more common in the future and that some guys @ codemasters read about it to add this option in next patch or next dirt release...

I did think that applying the extreme convergence when driving outside the car was really great.
Because of the camera position most things are pretty far from the camera which allows you to have the whole car popout.
I could probably play like that for a while and either press the emitter or do ctrl + T when needed.
I don't think you should wish for developer controlled convergence as most people here is not too happy when convergence becomes locked.
No developer would configure such an extreme convergence.
I have little experience but as far as I could tell BF3 has different convergence when aiming down the gun which is fairly hidden but still user configurable.
While useful for a while eventually you will need to find a convergence setting that works for all purposes.
@Richie72
What are you talking about? Default game configuration. You can't really judge how the colors of the game renders on my screen from a screenshot.

Thanks. I found a setting in the hardware_settings_config.xml file where I just needed to change the stereo enabled setting to true (was false) and also set the forcedx9 to true and it works. It has same issues but still way more awesome in 3D than without.
Thank you for the hint.

in the config file hardware_settings_config.xml there are 2 params related to stereoscopic vision : stereo_convergence and separation..does anyone know what they stand for ?...i use the 3d vision convergence adjustment (ctrl +f5 and ctrl+f6..save ctrl+f7) and i love it to get the car slightly before the screen...the races are amazing this way...but the menu get too close and hurt my eyes...anyone knows how to fix this? thx!
also did anyone notice a big performance hit on monaco tracks ? any hint on how to smooth it?

come on ! anyone willing to share how they optimized their convergence settings between menus and races? or at least confirming they have the same issue? thx! (eople playing with the in-car view won't suffer from this as increasing convergence quickly mess things up...but others?)

The inside car camera is probably the most demanding when it comes to convergence.
Screenshots are taken at 50% depth setting for my 23,6 monitor.
I find it very hard to push depth further on such a small monitor as ghosting can be pretty bad.
Edit: Files removed

Thanks to everybody using my assembler it warms my heart.
To have a critical piece of code that everyone can enjoy!
What more can you ask for?

Your problem is that you are using a very extreme conovergence setting that probably only works with one camera angle. You can obviously continue to play this way but you have to adapt to the fact that the rest of the game will not work with this convergence setting. There is no simple way to use multiple convergence settings and switch between them. I suggest that you find a more universal convergence setting or toggle 3D on and off as needed when 3D "breaks".

Judging from those pics Flugan, I think you might have Red turned down a bit too much?

thanks for sharing your experience.

@Richie72
What are you talking about? Default game configuration. You can't really judge how the colors of the game renders on my screen from a screenshot.
