Laptop with 120Hz screen and OpenGL Quad Buffering sought
Hi all
My company is in dire need of a laptop supporting OpenGL Quad Buffering and a screen refresh rate with at least 120Hz.
The advertised laptop http://www.nvidia.com/object/product_asus_g51j_us.html
does not support OpenGL Quad Buffering by its graphics card.
I assume I need a Quadro FX card instead of the GeForce GTX 260M.
So, are there any Laptops on the market that fulfill these two requirements?
Yes, for QB OpenGL you need a mobile Quadro card and a 120Hz LCD panel, but unfortunately there are still no such mobile workstations available on the market. And nobody has even announced such a product coming out, but it is quite possible to get such products from HP or Dell for example in the near future...

Thanks for your reply, Bloody. I already had this apprehension.
It's disappointing that no mobile Quadro FX workstations with 120Hz screens exist.

I agree. My company is waiting for this as well. I have actually had a bit of a time finding a Quadro laptop with a dual link DVI-I output for a 120Hz monitor. here is the best I could find for price in Canada:

The quadro FX 2800M, or 3800M will drive another dual link monitor.... What I would like to know is if it could drive a 120Hz monitor and a 3D projector simultaneously?
good luck and best of patience to all who are waiting for QB OpenGL stereo on a laptop...

GPLavoie, form what I see this laptop has a DVI and an HDMI, so it is quite possible to be able to use two external outputs. The 120Hz monitor on the DVI and a 3D DLP projector on the HDMI, but the only projector that supports HDMI input for 3D is the Acer H5360 - others need VGA and you don't have one. Still I'm not completely sure if this configuration will work out, haven't tired that myself, but there is a high chance of success... ;)
3dmodels, I don't think there is a way to softmod a 260M into a Quadro, so this is probably not an option either.

Has anyone managed to soft-mod the GeForce GTX 260M graphics card (in the G51J-3D laptop) into a Quadro.
It is such a pity that the only laptop with a 120Hz screen cannot do Quad-buffered 3D.
Thanks

Tried that but without success. Also tried HP with M-card using a docking station with dual DVI and YES it worked. However with some annoying bluring in bluring out issue which made it useless for me. At that time it could have been caused by the driver or the brigthness set to low on the screen. If brightness set to low on the Asus 120 Hz laptop (Asus G51J-3D) I have actually got the same behaviour (or maybe a more flickering issue) using Nvidia "gaming" 3D in Windows 7. Just set 100% brightness and it works...
For the option of using dual monitors in 3D stereo I have not had any success at all, lots of tries; different configurations and setups. Anyone?

I found this statement on their page. Have a look at the screen shot below. Does this mean there is a Quadro FX 3D Vision laptop in the pipeline or already on the market?
