stereo across spanned monitors? video on only one monitor??
Can't figure out how to solve this simple problem, maybe it's been done already:
I'm running a side by side video on two monitors (horizontal span) but the video only shows up on one side! The other side just goes sort of purple. I NEED this info as I'm running the stereo theater at the National Stereoscopic Assn convention in 10 days... I can't figure out what is going on! HELP!
Thanks!
(by the way, the problem is only with video, side by side slide shows work FINE!)

Have you tried putting your video card in DUAL VIEW MODE (not clone). That should fix it.

Nope, with Dual View the side by side video runs on one monitor (both L/R).
For some reason, in Horizontal Span, one monitor goes purple instead of showing one side of the video!

Tell me about the hardware. How many connections do you have coming out of your video card? Is it an NVIDIA card?

The more specs the better.

Yes, nVidia Quadro FX1300... also have a 3rd monitor (for apps) via a USB to VGA adapter. Have the latest nVidia driver...
I think it's a video overlay problem...??

thanks for your help!

Ok. I think simplicity is key. Try detaching the third monitor and see if you can get just two to operate properly. The Dual Monitor display mode should work. There might be a conflict somewhere.

Keep me posted.

as for "normal" 2D video, it cannot be done ;/ cant display video on 2 monitors by nvidia drivers ;/

The two Spanned monitors work "properly", with or without the third monitor, except for VIDEO content. Otherwise, slide shows or apps fill the dual screens fine. It seems to be a video issue...

So nVidia CANNOT run video over 2 monitors?? That's terrible for stereo 3D!
Are there other cards that can???
thanks

i wrote that 2D - normal video cant be displayed on 2 monitors (video stays only on one monitor, second one is black)

as for 3D videos - it can be done, i played many times 3D videos using 2 monitors in dual screen mode (with mirror) with stereoscopic player. There is an option in this player - use nvidia stereo driver. As for other options - i've heard that matrox addon - dual head 2 go (yes, thats addon - works with any card, simple electronic device) can split single signal to two monitors and that worked with shutter glasses.

THIS is interesting... I am using Stereoscopic Player... but the 3rd monitor (which is necessary to keep the app from being seen by audience) seems to be a problem. If I just have two monitors, I can select "monitor 1 & 2" for full screen. But with 3 monitors, there is no option for double choice (only 1, 2, or 3 available). MAYBE the solution is to use the Matrox Dualhead2Go on one video out (I've used one with a laptop!), and have the other video out as the 3rd monitor (instead of the USB to VGA adapter)...

I've done this and had the same problem

SOLUTION:

put your displays in 'clone' mode instead of dual view mode.

Cheers,

I FOUND my solution! Looks like a corrupt nvidia DRIVER! I had to totally uninstall (losing all settings), then reinstall... a double wide (side by side) 3D video SHOULD span across two monitors, and now it does. The only way CLOSE works, is with OPENGL and nView CLONE mode... but the span is better I think, runs videos better.

I'm going to be running over 44 digital stereo projection shows next week at the NSA/ISU convention in Boise. Wish me luck!

I use TrippleHead2GO with videcard GF 6800 and there are no any problem to watch game in 3D stereo with LCD glasses and 3 CRT monitors.
