A couple of questions before going Vision 3D
Here are my basic system spec's:

*Windows 7 Professional 64bit
*AMD Athlon Phenom II X4 940 (Quad-Core) ~3.00ghz
*Nvidia Geforce GTX 260 896 MB
*4 GIG of System Memory
*250GB of Free-Space

I can run most games at high frame rates besides a couple games that simply aren't optimized well. Just Cause 2 and Battlefield Bad Company 2 run amazing at 1920x1200 resolution.

I plan on skipping the Samsung 2233RZ 3D-Monitor 120hz after reading a lot of problems people are having with it when they go into 3D mode (120hz). I'm not looking to break my bank account but do you guys have any suggestions? I have narrowed the monitors down to about 6 or so. Not looking to spend more than $400 on the monitor due to $200 for the Vision 3D bundle cost $199.99 alone! :(

Alienware OptX AW2310 23" LCD 3D Monitor
LG W2363D 120Hz LCD display
ACER GD235HZ LCD 3D Display
ACER GD245HQ LCD 3D Display
ViewSonic® FuHzion™ VX2265wm
ViewSonic FuHzion VX2268wm

I wear prescription glasses so will I have problem with the 3D Vision glasses in terms of seeing 3D and having it fit properly?

Will my system be able to run games at decent frame rate such as Batman Arkham Asylum or Just Cause 2 with 3D enabled?

I have been reading the forum area for a bit and found a good list of great 3D games. Are these some of the best to play with 3D Vision?
*Batman Arkham Asylum
*Battlefield Bad Company 2
*Just Cause 2
*Avatar
*Metro 2033
*Tomb Raider Underworld/Legend/Anniversary

Thanks for reading.

Your system spec's will be fine
I am only running AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 6000+ (3114 MHz)
2gig ram
GT-240

Alienware or LG is the better choice

The Glasses fit over perscription glasses fine

do not buy old samsung / viewsonic..there is just no point..get hd one (acer 245, or alien)

and if you only play wow...do not buy 3d vision..because wow is messed up right now..it only works with old monitors (samsung, viewsonic) and old drivers...
i know..sad

Your hardware is capable, but don't forget frame rates you get now will be halved with 3D, so newer games like BC2, Metro 2033 or Just Cause 2 may be slower or have to be set at medium graphics.

There are problems with 3D, ghosting is the main offender, some users have mentioned flickering, but this was easily fixed for me by turning off other monitors in the room. As long as you know it's not a perfect science going in you shouldn't be disappointed. If you decide to go for the Acer be aware it has fairly poor 2D standards in my experience, quite a lot of bleed and over brightness are the main problems here, there is a fix of sorts in Applesaps review,Link but it's not ideal.

The main question I wish I had asked before I purchased is, will 3D work well with the games I enjoy playing ? You should look through this list Link and see if the games you like playing are in there. The nVidia rating can sometimes be a little off, with 'good' rated games being above or below acceptable standards, but with some tweaking can be made to look a lot better.

Hope this helps :).

I ended up skipping on both of the older LCD 3D monitors (Samsung and Viewsonic). I looked at the Alienware monitor but skipped on it due to its higher cost even though it is the best 3D monitor for less $500 or so. I purchased the Acer GD235HZ LCD 3D Display from Newegg.com along with the 3D Vision kit that came with Avatar: The Game free download.

2 years back I went the IZ3D route for 3D gaming when this Nvidia solution was way too darn expensive. Now that the 120hz monitors have came down in price, I have jumped ship. The IZ3D was nice for a bit but I thought of the supplied monitor as being mediocre at best with both 3D and 2D gaming. I also like Nvidia's tech approach to 3D gaming a bit better even though IZ3D's customer support is almost god-like. The fact alone that Just Cause 2 and Batman Arkham Asylum have been made from the ground-up to support Geforce 3D vision is the main reason why I'm going the Nvidia route. Those 2 games are my favorite PC games currently.

The problem I have with the IZ3D monitor is just that. I want a monitor that I can do school work on, watch high-quality movies, and play games on. When I play games on it in 2D mode, the monitor is just simply not there in terms of quality that I would want. I want a good 3D monitor plus a good 2D monitor and the Acer version seemed like the best choice for the price.

I'm pretty sure I won't be disappointed because I know what to expect with 3D gaming. There will be ghosting and the occassional flicker. The picture image with the glasses on will probably be a decent amount darker. The games will most likely run a good deal slower but hopefully completely playable.

A year ago I played the Batman Arkham Asylum PC demo with my IZ3D monitor and loved it but it took my performance down to a crawl of 15 FPS in most spots. <I'm thinking it was the IZ3D driver and not my hardware.

Am I correct in saying that the games that are "Nvidia Geforce 3D Vision ready - Nvidia supported games list" should be somewhat optimized for 3D systems such as Just Cause 2 or Batman?

Congratulations on your purchase :).

The best way to work it out is to try a game now in 2D then divide that in half for 3D, doesn't always work like that but it's a good rule of thumb in my experience.

Hmmmmm, I would have gone for the Alienware 2310. Maybe because i've got 1 myself /angel.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='O:)' /> . But it is the best 3D monitor on the market.

And seriously is the best monitor i've ever used and had. Many people have been in the same situation as you and i can say that all of them (have not come across any1 who doesn't like it, so) have never looked back after purchasing the Alienware

Even tho the AW2310 is expensive it makes up for it with the superior build quality, apperance (stealth design) and features, especially the heat sensor menu button /shock.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

However the Acer is a tad bigger. 0.6 inches bigger, not much. as well as being 1080p. But it will do the job.
