3D Setup Questions Combination of hardware that may or may not work...please help! Thanks
Hi all,

I'm new to 3D, and I am helping out a friend who set purchased some equipment for a 3D setup. Unfortunately it's all been sitting around for a few months, so there's no returning stuff now...

In any case, what he's got is a Samsung monitor which has a sticker that says it's 3D Vision ready, and he's also got the 3D vision glasses set that comes with the stereoscopic controller (black truncated pyramid). And unfortunately, his graphics card is an ATI HD 5970. It does support 3D, but I'm guessing it won't work with the Nvidia setup. If there's a way to do it, that would be awesome, otherwise, what's the cheapest option for getting 3D running with his current equipment?

Thanks for any help you can offer!!

First of all according to the rules I'm not allowed to advocated non-nvidia solutions.

I would expect actually going for a "cheap" replacement around a Nvidia 560.

Buying a monitor and glasses compatible with the radeon would be a lot more expensive.
If you use Windows 7 you even have the option to have both the ATI card and Nvidia in the computer at the time if space and PSU allows.

Might also be some second hand Nvidia card available.

A complete working hdmi 1.4a solution with glasses (TV or Monitor) would work with ATI if a 3rd party middleware is bought.
That would give 1080p24hz or 720p60hz compared to the Nvidia dual link DVI 1080p60hz.

Thanks to everybody using my assembler it warms my heart.
To have a critical piece of code that everyone can enjoy!
What more can you ask for?
