The latest FAR fix seems to have broken the 3d fix. I cant get the game to go 3d anymore. The FAR fix says it fixed texture caching so maybe thats why?
Is there any reason to use the latest FAR update? If it was working before, why did you change it?
Don't just mindlessly update software, newer versions tend to break things. Only update if you actually need it.
We don't have the time or people to keep following all the endless updates. We have over 500 games fixed and need people to emphasize working scenarios.
Improving the nameplates should be possible, but someone has to spend the time. Fixing them to follow the correct depth is really hard, but simply moving them a bit deeper so they don't look as bad is super easy.
Maybe you are enthusiastic enough to give it a try? People who most enjoy a specific game are the best ones to keep games up to date.

It was supposed to offer some performance gains which this game needs. With a 1070 I cant hit 60 fps at 720p with no AA and GI set to low. So some performance gains would be nice. Hence I updated. I switched back to the older version to play in 3d again, no biggie. Id love to try to fix them although I have zero programming skills and not a lot of time at the moment as I can only spend a few hours a week gaming as it is. Might give it a try at some point if its as super easy as you say

Sounds good.
For improving this nameplate problem, it doesn't require programming ability. More like problem solving or puzzle solving.
To do this, the technique would be to use the 3Dmigoto that is already in use for fixing other stuff.
1) Enable hunting which will show green text top and bottom.
2) Hunt the Vertex Shader for the nameplates. It'll go blank when you find it. Mark the shader.
3) In the output ShaderFixes, sort by date, and your new marked shader is on top.
4) In that shader, toward the bottom, add the stereo fix code
5) Something like "o0.x += separation * 0.50;" That would put them at 50% depth.
Probably. Most likely. Sometimes things are crazy though.

Thank you! Which version of the 3D fix are you using? I cant seem to get it to work.
grab the 3d fix on page 5, and the 3d migoto that bo3b has posted on page 7. After you install the FAR fix and configure it, install the 3d fix. After the 3d fix has been dropped in your nier folder, open the 3dmigoto x64 folder and copy the d3d11.dll and nvapi64.dll file to the nier folder. The game should now work in 3d. If it does not work in 3d and you get a black screen try switching your desktop to 720p, the far fix is causing some kind of issue. alternatively, i got it working by running my desktop in 720p downsampled from 1080p.

Wow - so I removed all of FAR and then followed castlemadeofsand's instructions exactly - at first it didn't work but then I alt tabbed in and out and it worked, and it looks fantastic - and it runs like a piece of crap on a GTX 760 @ 1080p in stereo 3d. Each frame is a thing of beauty, that takes around 5 seconds before showing the next one :D
At least I know, when I finally upgrade my GPU, I will be able to play this game in glorious 3d.

game is hard to run in 3d, i have a 1070 and play in 720p, i get 60fps a majority of the time but even then there are a couple of battles where it will drop. game is worth the drop in resolution to play in 3d though

FAR fix 5.2 or whatever with global lighting set to Medium will increase your framerate by about 30 percent, and you can fix the ugly low-res ambient occlusion and bloom without a performance hit.

actually fixing the AO and bloom causes a performance hit, its not noticable in 2d but when you play in 3d especially in some of the more taxing situations things were definitely smoother when I used to the default crappy AO and bloom. GI definitely has a significant performance increase though, but even on medium i get framedrops. the game runs at 60 most of the time though. Just battles with tons of enemies in certain areas cause it to drop

It wasnt posted on helix because it wasnt fully fixed. I fixed the shadows which i thought was good enough. There are still minor issues like the blood decals and some other things that pop up for a few seconds over the course of a 40 plus hour game, basically negligible. So i didnt bother fixing them since i got wrapped up with my botw fix and my unity fix.
