Assassin's creed on gtx260 - glitch when in 3d
I have an nvidia gtx 260 (w/ i920 and 9gb of ram) on windows 7 premium with the latest drivers from nvidia.com and assassin creed's has some very bad glitch which show up only in 3d mode : when first riding the ground texture is glitched: no grass but just either uniform sand color or transparent

Any idea how to fix that ?

(Temp of my card is fine and again no glitch when not in 3d - note that as soon as any 3d is on, removing 3d doesn't remove the glitch - I have to disable 3d in the nvidia control panel and restart the game to fix the glitch - I tried lowering all the settings to minimum but glitch is still there in 3d)

(This is the original Assassin's creed retail dvd - not the "2" coming soon)

That's an easy fix buddy, just run it in dx9 instead of dx10. I had the same issue and one I put it on dx9 it runs flawless, actually one of the best 3d games in my opinion. If u don't know how just open your games thing and right click on the ac icon and select dx9.

Thanks, I'll try that - don't you miss water effects in DX9 though (compared to 10) ?
Any chance to fix the game or the drivers so the workaround is not necessary ?

Just wanted to add my opinion that this game rocks with 3dvision when ran in dx9 - thought also run in dx10

Highly recommend to vision users who haven't tried it yet, must be cheap to buy now

It should only be Kingdom which has the missing floor textures. I wouldnt play in DX9 because it run better in DX10 believe it or not. After a while you do not need to travel through Kingdom, which is the only problem area, because you have the option to fast travel so keep that DX10 on. I have a 260 and I tweaked the ini so I can keep shadow res at a lowish 512 (which isnt bad TBH) but can still see distant shadows.

Looks great with convergence at the dude and max depth!

edit just noticed the date!

I can't run the game in direct x 9. I don't have an option by right clicking the icon to run dx9 for this game. Also, one thing that really bugs me is that normal shadows look ok, but everyone in the game has this weird circle like shadow at their feet which is not rendered properly and is very distracting. Anyway to get rid of the circle shadow under peoples feet?

gtx 260, win7 64, latest drivers to date.
have this bug in dx10 mode.
So is it the game's fault or nvidia drivers team did not address this issue in like 5 months?!

It's frustrating but at least it is only Kingdom that's affected. And to be honest, fast travel through that section to get to the cities - right? I climbed all the viewpoints in DX9 and after that have never felt the need to revisit. Far too much grief.

I guess because you can FT to each location once you have travelled to the 3 cities nVidia and/or Ubi couldnt be bothered. How badly do you want to ride about it Kingdom mate? If you MUST travel through just reload in DX9 and voila!
