i think the initial scores look kind of booring compared to my old setup. but i have hope the performance boost shows in the games itself as even the 6700k was performing much better than my old system in reallife scenarios when we switched my gpu from system to another.
and luckily the low frames have increased prosentually wery much atleast according to metro benchmark.

Would not recommend windows 7 as it is not supported by coffee lake and likely a lot of the hardware on the new motherboard.

Those are at 5GHz on the core mate. There should be a different setting for the cache or uncore frequency in your bios... maybe an offset.
They are just for reference, I'll redo them at whatever clock you manage :)
There is no urgency... how about we wait till you get your water cooling setup back up and running to see what kind of clock you can reach :)

bo3b had an interesting hypothesis - that maybe L3 cache was in some way causing / contributing to the bottleneck. We've confirmed above that cache doesn't seem to play a part, but not perfectly.
Would you mind disabling 2 cores in your BIOS so that you have 4 remaining (with access to full 12MB in cache) and redo the above benchmarks in 2D and 3D?
This ought to clarify if cache size makes any difference at all to the bottleneck.

The Gigabyte bios is super strange, i miss asus. I could not make any manual changes in the bios, i had to do them

Yea, I have been using premium ASUS boards for the last 15 years after swearing off other brands... other boards just don't have the features or compatibility, though ASUS is also starting to slip...

I think that I have to reluctantly agree with you here.
The problem here is that Intel has decided to collude with Microsoft to force people to the new OS.
So, Intel has not provided Win7 chipset drivers for Coffee Lake chipsets Z370. Even though there is only a gnat's eyebrow difference between the chipsets and CPUs. (Well, Optane is only big difference.)
While it's possible to run the Z270 drivers, they have not been tested or debugged for this scenario.
If you are running a Z270 chipset with Kaby Lake, you can do this without problems on Win7. The only drawback is the lack of security updates.
I really, really don't like being forced to do things. I'm wondering what my breaking point is where I say FU to both Intel and Microsoft and move on. Gaming be damned.

Coffee is certainly not worse, and seems to provide at least a modest bump. Only caveat being that you are DOA for Win7 if you go this route. Flip side is that 7700K is not really worse, and has the benefit of being able to run Win7 on Z170 or Z270.

In fact, this strongly suggests that CPU is not in fact the bottleneck in this scenario, because linear scaling of a test is not expected. Expectation is that this unlocks other components to move bottleneck to a new point. But maybe, especially if we didn't move out of the bottleneck range to other components.
I'd also be interested if you guys can check these results with RAM speed. There has been some suggestion that the faster RAM can make a big difference.

3d mark gave me:
stock with EMC off
and witn EMC on and xmp enabled
i think the initial scores look kind of booring compared to my old setup. but i have hope the performance boost shows in the games itself as even the 6700k was performing much better than my old system in reallife scenarios when we switched my gpu from system to another.
and luckily the low frames have increased prosentually wery much atleast according to metro benchmark.

Would not recommend windows 7 as it is not supported by coffee lake and likely a lot of the hardware on the new motherboard.

Conclusions (including margin of error):
1. 8700K is as good as 7700K for 3D Vision (bottlenecked at this present point in time). Assuming one can OC as high, which according to statistics one can - 81% of 8700K chips can reach 5GHz on all cores out of the box.
2. The extra 2 cores go unused.
4.7GHz 7700K = 43% usage to generate ~70fps
4.7GHz 8700K = 29% usage to generate ~70fps
43% *8 cores / 12 cores = 29%
Calculation of CPU usage checks out.
3. Cache size does not seem to make a difference to the 3D vision bottleneck. Although 8700K does not make use of the 2 extra cores as per above, it still has access to 12MB cache compared to 7700K's 8MB.
4. 3D Vision FPS scales perfectly with Core overclock:
Actual:
4.7GHz 7700K = ~70fps
Predicted:
5GHz 7700K fps = 5/4.7*70=74FPS
Actual:
5GHz 7700K = 74fps
5. There is a drop of 15% CPU usage with 3D Vision enabled.
2D CPU usage = 58%
3D CPU usage = 43%
6. Predicted 3D Vision FPS if there was no 3D vision CPU bottleneck:
Actual:
4.7GHz 3DVision CPU usage @ 43% = 70fps
Predicted:
4.7GHz 3DVision CPU usage @ 58% = 58/43*70 = 94FPS
2D FPS:
4.7GHz 2D CPU usage @ 58% = 145fps
What should be the FPS loss due to 3D Vision if there was no bottleneck caused by 3DVision?
= (2D FPS / Predicted 3D FPS if CPU usage wasn't gimped) / 2D FPS
= (145fps-94fps)/145fps
= 35%
It is interesting how this calculated drop in performance, supported by empirical evidence, shows a "35%" performance loss to 3D Vision. This percentage tallies up exactly with what was actually measured while 3D vision gaming years ago with the "old" 3D vision driver.
Perhaps the most important conclusion:
7. 3D Vision bottleneck drop in performance on:
7700K/8700K = (145fps-70fps)/145fps*100= 52%
i7-980X / x5660 @ 4.4GHz measured by nVidia and us = 61%
Should be: 35%, but the faster the Clock x IPC, the smaller the bottleneck problem gets.
Conclusion of conclusions: Upgrading from an old AMD and Intel CPUs ought to give a substantial improvement in 3D Vision performance. Do the GTA 5 test yourself to see how much of an improvement is possible from your current setup.

bo3b had an interesting hypothesis - that maybe L3 cache was in some way causing / contributing to the bottleneck. We've confirmed above that cache doesn't seem to play a part, but not perfectly.
Would you mind disabling 2 cores in your BIOS so that you have 4 remaining (with access to full 12MB in cache) and redo the above benchmarks in 2D and 3D?
This ought to clarify if cache size makes any difference at all to the bottleneck.

The Gigabyte bios is super strange, i miss asus. I could not make any manual changes in the bios, i had to do them
With Windows software. Memory and cpu.
By the way i had uncore on 44... i did not change it as i did not know what it does.

I think that I have to reluctantly agree with you here.
The problem here is that Intel has decided to collude with Microsoft to force people to the new OS.
So, Intel has not provided Win7 chipset drivers for Coffee Lake chipsets Z370. Even though there is only a gnat's eyebrow difference between the chipsets and CPUs. (Well, Optane is only big difference.)
While it's possible to run the Z270 drivers, they have not been tested or debugged for this scenario.
If you are running a Z270 chipset with Kaby Lake, you can do this without problems on Win7. The only drawback is the lack of security updates.
I really, really don't like being forced to do things. I'm wondering what my breaking point is where I say FU to both Intel and Microsoft and move on. Gaming be damned.

With the caveat that this might matter for some games, just not these. Again though, 7700K is not worse.
I don't think you can do the math this way. The nature of bottlenecks is that small changes can have outsized influences on the result. It's interesting that's it linear, but I would not expect it to be.
In fact, this strongly suggests that CPU is not in fact the bottleneck in this scenario, because linear scaling of a test is not expected. Expectation is that this unlocks other components to move bottleneck to a new point. But maybe, especially if we didn't move out of the bottleneck range to other components.
I'd also be interested if you guys can check these results with RAM speed. There has been some suggestion that the faster RAM can make a big difference.
I would be hesitant to draw this conclusion from only two samples. In my experience it's never this simple.
