Assistance with setup of Samung 3D TV with GT610 for bluray 3D.
Hey guys, So, sad time to be coming to the forum with recent nvidia news. Still, I plan to keep my setup going as long as possible as 3D seems to be one of those misunderstood technologies. My wife and I love it (when it is done right) and our setup works really well. Anyway, on to my issue: I currently have 2x Samsung 3D TV screens (models escape me but pretty decent ones) that I have been using to watch 3D bluray films for years now. My HTPC still works fine (using an nvidia geforce 430 or similar) and I recently (when I heard that 3D TVs were no longer being made, and why no company wants to pick up that market when they already have the tech escapes me) purchased a second Samsung 3D TV to go in my study (protecting my 3D film investment). That TV has been working fine for 3D bluray films connected to my gaming PC, with a GTX 970 and an external USB bluray player. However, last week I decided to also setup my fileserver to be able to play 3D bluray films (so my wife could watch things while I am gaming). This PC has Windows 10 (same as all of them) and a Geforce 610 (low wattage and perfectly capable for buray 3D unless I am mistaken). Now I had some minor issues with having to downgrade drivers (when i learned about nvidia no longer supporting) and my gaming PC is now still working fine for 3D bluray but when i try to run the nvidia 3D setup wizard on my fileserver with the GT610 it goes through the motions but never seems to send the signal to my TV to turn on the 3D mode (you can see a little box popup on screen telling you that 3D is on when it works, which never happens with the file-server setup). I have tried reinstalling drivers clean (just using the nvidia driver clean installation check box, rather than any safe mode removals). I have tried swapping the hdmi cables and TV ports with those used by the gaming PC (either port or cable works for the gaming PC doing 3D but not for the file-server). I can also force the TV into 2D to 3D mode, so the glasses and TV are working fine. It is just something to do with fileserver or the GT610 that doesn't want to play ball. Have I missed something obvious? Does anyone have any suggestions of things to try? This is frustrating me as I recently purchased a new internal bluray drive specifically for this purpose that fits in the file server but not the gaming PC. Any assistance gratefully received. Kind regards, Neil

How long since the last time you gamed? AFAIK, all support for stereoscopic gaming with the GT610 was dropped long ago. Check driver notes or Customer FAQ You can use a bat to get past the wizard, which can be problematic with Windows 10, once you find a working/supported driver. https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/824274/3d-vision/guide-how-to-search-the-3d-vision-sub-forum-more-efficiently-/

Hi D-Man11, Hah, well, I have young children so my gaming IS less frequent but I still manage to fit in the occasional session (Witcher 3 is taking me over a year, spread out) but my question was about using the card for 3D bluray rather than gaming. I have Cyberlink powerDVD 17 but neither that nor the nvidia stereoscopic wizard seem to be actually triggering turning the TV to 3D mode so the glasses don't activate. I am pretty sure that this video card was the first that I actually used for 3D bluray on my HTPC, years ago now. It had just been superseded and the card moved to my file-server. It is only recently that I have reason to want to use that as an extra machine for watching 3D bluray films and am finding myself stuck. Is it possible that older drivers for the card might work? I don't really understand what exact requirements I need to get the 3D bluray working on my other machines but previously I have just run the Nvidia wizard and it appears to have sorted things out correctly. However I have also just tried playing a 3D bluray on cyberlink and that doesn;t seem to be triggering TV 3D mode either, so assuming that it is the graphics card that isn't sending the correct signal. Any thoughts? I will trawl through the various driver notes for the card and look at different versions. Cheers, Neil

What do you see under "Set up stereoscopic 3D" in Nvidia Control Panel? What happens if you click "Test stereoscopic 3D" there? What version of the driver do you have installed? Make sure your TV is selected as the primary display.

My bad, I thought Kepler was dropped, but it was only Fermi. https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/1046681/3d-vision/nvidia-dropping-fermi-support-and-32-bit/ But 3D Vision support was dropped and the last working driver is 425.XX, 430.XX and up no longer have any stereoscopic options. But you already said you read the bad news. https://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/4781

I think the last Windows 10 driver for that card was in 2015. https://www.nvidia.com/download/driverResults.aspx/87789/
