Problem with hdmi connection: Alienware OptXT AW2310
Hello guys,

This is my first post out of here :P .Just got my 3d vision pack. But I have problem already :P.

I can't get to connect my Alienware to my laptop. I have this laptop: Asus G51JX-SZ041V and it has Nvidia GeForce 360M.
It has a HDMI connection, but NO DVI-Dual link input. Is is even possible to get a 120 Hz signal to my Alienware? or with some kind of special cable/convert.

Thank You for your patience if you can help me.

Unfortunately no, HDMI 1.3a and 1.4 do not support the necessary signaling requirements for 1080p@120Hz, you need DL-DVI to pass a 1080p@120Hz signal. Also, your AW2310 will not accept 120Hz input from the HDMI input for the same reasons. I'm really surprised that laptop doesn't have DL-DVI output, is it advertised as 3D Vision Ready?

Some other options for 3D Vision to a larger screen would be to run your HDMI over to one of the 3D Vision Ready DLP HDTVs and use the stereo VESA port on the IR receiver. The newer 3D HDTVs that don't use the Nvidia 3D glass kit will support 3D with Nvidia's 3DTV Play eventually, but that software isn't available as of now.

But the acer projector only has HDMI 1.3 and yet it accepts a 120Hz signal....but only at 720p. So perhaps the Alienware will accept 720p at 120Hz over HDMI?
