Vision 3D top of screen severe ghosting

Yes, me too. I use the samsung 2233 120hz, and at the top of the screen the ghosting is a bit severe. Its distracting. It is present in the middle and bottom too but not as bad tho /blarg.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':/' />

I really hope samsung/nvidia come up with a fix for this. It's really annoying. If the ghosting wasn't so bad this would totally be insane. Gotten cut back on the settings due to this which really really blows.

Honestly can't believe they sell it like this. This really ain't right. I'm thinking about picking up the viewsonic pjd6381 3d projector. I wonder how that'll be as far as ghosting and brightness etc. If its good i'll have a huge 3d screen with a seamless 3d image, can't get much better then that.

Apparently the new ACER 120Hz displays (that will be released in a few months) wont have this problem...

lets cross our fingers :P

I was in the market for a Samsung 2233RZ as I just purchased an Nvidia kit. Maybe I should just wait a few months and see what the Acer offers if this is supposed to be better?

I don't know if this would make a difference but has anyone tried using powerstrip to adjust the monitor timings? I don't know how this would work on an LCD system but it may be worth a shot.

Maybe your is really worst than others or maybe you expect a ghost free image and that is not happening with this LCDs.
Getting all cranky sure aint going to help... /whistling.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':whistling:' />
Speak for yourself mate !! At this price, its quite justified aye mate. This thread is about the annoying ghosting, not 'how to live with it'. So create a thread elsewhere to council people on dealing with it...

I would suggest to anyone that hasn't already bought the monitor, to wait for the ACER monitors to be released, and buy one of them, keeping in mind they will most likely be more expensive (they are bigger, and higher resolution).

Hopefully the promise will be fulfilled and there will be no ghosting, hopefully not unlike DLP's quality with 3D :D
I bet this issue can nearly eliminated if they let us fine tuning the sync between the glasses and the monitor
I agree, however if you 'delayed' the timing just fractions, i believe you would notice the screens visible brightness would decrease dramatically as you delay furthur and further to fix the ghosting.

This is because you are increasing the duration of each 'clear' cycle of your glasses......

I might be wrong, but that is what the posts so far have been working towards i gather...

Camraid, please don't spam, just use the edit button to add more info, or change posts. Please do not take this as me being offensive, just trying to help you get used to the forum :P

I believe that it is not the duration of the glasses that is the problem (as there is no ghosting on other monitors / DLP's). I think (and i think this is what others think as well) is that the problem is that the monitor and the glasses are out of time.
Ghosting at the top of the screen would indicate the monitor has begun to show the next frame before the glasses switch eyes, and that the amount of time they are clear / dark is correct, but its hard to say, I may be wrong... If only the team from "Time Warp" would lend us their camera's so we could record exactly what is happening, and fix the problem :)

I still think just waiting for the Acer monitor to be released is easier though, the new laptop that was released and it 120Hz capable for S3D apparently has no ghosting, and looks great, which has confirmed to me that it is possible to make a good quality LCD monitor that does not have this issue, and has no ghosting, therefore I believe that all new monitors that are released should have no ghosting.
Especially since this monitor has been marketed as "Crystal clear 3D with no ghosting" (if my memory is correct)

Sounds like I'm definitely waiting for the Acer and forgoing a cheaper but ultimately flawed Samsung. Wonder if that high resolution and high frame rate requirement is going to be too taxing on my 8800GT?

well i sent a email to nvidia aswell about problems with 3d vision this is wht i got back !

Suggested 3D depth setting for stereoscopic 3D gaming is 15-40% for a LCD. Your trying to use settings for a big screen HDTV so please lower the depth. Also suggested Viewing Distance for a LCD is 1.5-2 feet.

If you put the glasses on and view at the suggested settings 3D stereo should work just fine. Please ensure the LCD is warmed up as a cold LCD is prone to ghosting. Allow about 15 minutes for this. Also there will be some ghosting on high contrast or dark scenes with really bright highlights. Example would be a dark scene with a bright street light. The light might be slightly ghosted. This is expected. On the Samsung and Viewsonic monitor there may be a few cm's top and bottom of the screen that are slightly ghosted. This is not a problem with the glasses and is a monitor limitation and expected..

Best Regards,

NVIDIA Customer Care

but i do think its drivers as when i first set it up i had none but after changing G-card drivers and for the new 3d vision drivers i have seen ghosting !

Skyeclad - The refresh rate is 120Hz, the same as the Samsung, so this shouldnt put extra load on your GPU compared to the 2233RZ. Also, if you are worried about the higher resolution, you could always turn it down when you're in a game to reduce the load on the GPU.

Th2PranKzTa - If it is a driver issue, I ask you why it is that DLP TV's have absolutely no ghosting at all? Also, the ASUS laptop that was released with a 120Hz panel apparently has very little ghosting... The drivers dont treat these monitors differently, so it cant be them.

Everyone has said they had no ghosting to start with. I believe simply that,m they either didnt notice it to start with, or the monitor starts off OK, but after use, it gets worn in a little, which results in ghosting.

Changing timings with powerstrip may cause malfunction of monitor's electronics. So was with some CRTs, at least.
