Nvidia! do you know this? about driver problems
It has come to my attention that Critical nVidia driver problem
nVidia has been releasing 3dvision driver with the same issue since the version 1.09.
The issue causes problems in graphic rendering in several games, resulting blurring and unrealistic reproduction of objects.
In addition to the previously known ghosting effect, the issue produces consistent transparent objects leading to much more difficult gameplay.
These problem which was not seen in previous drivers such as 1.08 (which perfectly renders all graphic effects), is particularly noticeable in "overlord2" and "Age of Conan."

I will be looking forward to the new driver update that addresses the source of the problem and solves such abnormalities in graphics. However, in case such remedy cannot be formulated in foreseeable future, I hope there is a release of modified 1.08 driver with profiles of newer graphic cards even as a temporary measure.

The problem is that they just don't give a damn.

I have been gaming in stereo for over a decade. We know nvidia's track record on such things. Don't expect anything to happen for a long time.

3D vision isn't doing too well. Too expensive, limited support on a limiting operating system with limited hardware. As you have witnessed, the whole gaming industry has been very quiet about it as no-one seems to give a damn.

nvidia, with declining profits and a bad economy and economic forecasts have put this tech on the back burner. Don't expect any updates for a very long time, and when they do come out, don't expect anything revolutionary - they will just be updated "profiles" /thumbup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

I might sound like I'm bashing nvidia, but as others will testify, this is actually a very realistic prediction.

If it fails it will be to the detriment of PC gamers everywhere whether they realize it or not. What sucks is that this stuff is so hard to market without giving the prospective customer some first hand experience.

There is no clear benchmark to point to, or comparison pics to show relative image quality.

I will say that nV really needs to push this stuff. It is exactly what the PC gaming market needs to revitalize it and bring people back from consoles. You hear me nV? Make these drivers a priority and market the hell out of this stuff. (!)

Your missing a few salient points, firstly who can say if they give a damn? I think you'll find the team working on it do, but due to the current markatiable potential arent given the resources, and company policy prob limits how much of that they can give away.

The selling potential is limeted due to the relitively low number of compatible displays out there, so Nvidia manufacturing enough glasses sets to drive the price down would be a horrific buisness faliure as most wouldnt sell. When the monitors are there then it will make sense.

Limited Opereating systems? Most gamers I know either run Windows 7 or Windows 7/Vista dual booted with XP, so have access to a system that'll run this (and have the extra troubleshooting routine of varying direct x versions without reinstalls), if the market potentials not going to appear till later, when XP will be on its way out why would they develop much for it (and if you'll look for profesional purposes it is working in XP).

THe signs I've seen are that Nvidia are pushing it, and that the new game profiles you scorn are where they can work at the moment, as with a vast back catalouge when the display base comes around is whats required. (Mass market peeps are loathe to upgrade just for new stuff, they want improvements on what they've got to).

One final point on choice, choice and options in hardware and driver configs will not not drive mass market, indeed simplification does as the majority want to plug and play, while I support the idea, i disagree that i will kill mass market potential, though concede that if it dies before the display base appears its a risk.

Putting your drivel aside for a bit, cen4pgb, I find it very interesting that you would register on the forum, just to tell me this oh so pro-nvidia fo sho' buttkissing.

Very interesting indeed.

So who are you? nVidia staff, very likely. And someone who is probably well known on these boards at that.

Your words aren't worth the virtual paper they are written on.

Fix the driver. Fix the support. Treat your customers as intelligent people and take away the stupid restrictions in the driver.

Let me make this clear to everyone. nVidia DOES NOT speak for the stereo3D community or the Stereo3D industry. Struggles of nvidia are not our struggles. Quite the opposite.

Bad drivers, lacklustre support, bad customer service, arbitrary restrictions, and limited hardware are only damaging the image of Stereo3D while nvidia profiteers by outright lies such as good compatibility, perfect picture, no ghosting etc

One person puts down his 3d glasses in frustration, you can bet he will advise 10 more people not to buy into this technology. Who suffers? The stereo3D community who have spent the last decade helping anyone and everyone who is interested to really get it to take off.

hmmm I find your post more interesting. N3d has been out since January, since then 10 updates... not all are "only for profiles" as you suggest.{Not too mention resident Evil 5 written to take full advantage of it} Sure there are bugs, as with any technology. But from what I am reading of your posts... limited os , limited hardware, limited yadda yadda, I think you should really read what you write before you post. Nvidia has nothing to do with the os's for one, and there cards do make great improvements every generation. I upgrade every year so have first hand experience on this.

At least C posted and stated why he thinks his opinions are valid, you just complain. A lot of us here on the forums suggest changes for nvidia. I am far from an nvidia fanboy, I am often seen telling them to get it together. But like anything it takes time. Sometimes when you fix one thing another breaks. It is the nature of programming.

Ghosting is very little, and the monitors are more to blame than the hardware... people with 3d projectors and dlp's have been reporting no ghosting.

So imho instead of bitchin and complaining. Look at the whole story. Stereo 3d has been around a long time, but before nvidia it was half ass, gave bad headaches and most who used it back then threw them out. Not all obviously but a good percentage. Nvidia is giving S3d a better name than it has had in in years. Ironing out bugs takes time, if it bothers you so much... don't use em.
