System Freeze with SLI in Stereo 77.77 Complete lock-up of system 77.77 & 78.01
I've been using 77.77 and now recently 78.01 with the same problem: my entire system freezes (have to do a hard reset) when using SLI and Stereo with the 77.77 and 78.01 drivers. This occcurs roughly between 10 seconds and 1 minute into the game. (I mentioned it here as well: http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=7102)
This happens ONLY when SLI is enabled in stereo-3D (non-SLI stereo with these drivers runs without any problems). I have had this behaviour in both LOMAC and MS FS9 and it is very repeatable. I can't get Chronicles of Riddick even to run in stereo - so I cannot test it with that game.
I read somewhere else (in this forum) that this is a known bug - something to do with having all four memory slots filled (instead of only two of them). Sounds strange to me and I have not found mention of this "bug" anywhere else.
I've also not seen anyone else mentioning the system freeze problem with the SLI-Stereo combination, so I'm starting to get worried that I might have a sick OS or sick hardware :o
Could someone else please check to see whether they have similar issues? If it does turn out to be a bug, hopefully NVIDIA will notice and fix it /shifty.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':shifty:' />
System specs:
XP Pro SP2
Gigabyte K8N-Ultra SLI (NF4)
AMD64 3500+
2x Gigabyte 7800GTX in SLI
2x 512MB and 2x 256MB Transcend RAM running in dual Channel
No overclocking or other mods.

It seems that SLI_AFR and Stereo 3D do not mix well.
I used Nhancer (http://www.nhancer.com/index.php) to clone and then disable the original Nvidia profile for Lock On (just remove the LockOn.exe from the list of exe files the original profile links to) That way you get to keep all the settings of the original profile, but you do not risk any conflicts with your new custom profile). This was done after a clean install of both the 78.01 FW driver and the 78.01 Stereo3D driver.
In my cloned / custom profile, I changed the SLI mode from AFR to SFR, forced AA off, set a tick in the the SLI Stereo box and set the value in the box next to it to 1. I left all the other "nvidia compatibility bits" untouched. Pure guesswork, but my luck was good and it seems to work like a dream.
I can now run Lock On in Stereo 3D with SLI enabled without a single system lock-up - frame rates are very good too, although I cannot see any performance gains from SLI in this mode.
I have no idea what the settings have caused, I'm just grateful I do not need to reboot constantly ti turn SLI on and off.
Hope this helps someone else out there too.... ;)
I have attached my exported profile for those of you who want to play with it... "alpha" release ^_^.
