Missing NV stereo controls Missing controls
Just as some back ground I'm running on the system below with one core disabled. Testing on HL2, FC, D3, Prey and Swat4. I'm not able to adj the Depth Ctrl-F10/F9 I'm also not able to adj the Backplane Alt F10/F9. Nor does the F8 auto convergence do anything. The only control I seem to have on the 91.28 combo is Ctrl-F3/F4 for separation and Ctrl-F5/F6. Am I missing something? The profiles show the setting but there are no profiles for the games I'm playing. I don't see anyway to create my own profile. The games are not taking the controls over, they just don't do anything. I use the Hotkey activation method.

PS does anyone know how to remap the time acceleration in GTR?

You arn't missing anything.

These controls havent worked since hardware T&L was implemented.

These controls and stereo hardware shader support have been requested for years, but nothing is ever done about it.

This is why every other treead tends to focus on asking for an updated stereo driver.

It is apparently possible, but it is said that it would cost nVidia too many resources catering to a "niche market" - from what I understand.

If we are lucky, we will get a forceware compatible stereo driver every 6 months or so which basically gives you stereo without shaders and limited convergence/seperation control.

...as goes life for the minority.

As life goes for the minorities my A$$, Nvidia do something about this. That’s total BS. This is an advertised feature that is broken. Are you waiting for AMDTI to do 3D right? I wouldn't even call it a small market segment. IT"S HUGE, people know the support absolutely sucks so many don't get in to it. Why in the world wouldn't you. I don't think NV has any idea how much money they could make off from 3D. I know at least 8 people that would buy either glasses or the z800 if driver support was better and we're talking hardcore High-end system gamers. Why doesn't NV partner with eMargin or eDimensional. I sure both would pay to pull some good drivers like they were in way way way past. Pretty stupid missed opportunity if you ask anyone.

Damn right mate, and well said.

We have been preaching the same thing for years now, but our words always seem to fall upon deaf ears.

To be fair though, we lack good hardware support from 3D techs too.

Stereo glasses ghost too much with CRT and are not very compatible with LCD. HMD are too expensive, low resolution, and have a small FOV. Projected just costs far too much for the average joe.

We don't only need software support, we need n00b-proof hardware too. I am looking forward to super-low latency LCD screens which will present no ghosting. Or a good HMD with a good resolution and large FOV.

Ofcourse a stereo gamer's wet drea si to have all LCD pannels "auto-stereo" compatible so no glasses or HMDs re required, but even these are very expensive, and from what I have heard, have a restrictive FOV, which puts off the average joe.

I am hoping that when stereo hardware really is viable for the average person to use: High resolution, cheap, large FOV, then nVidia and even AMD/ATi would suddenly become interested and start to produce propper software, or even hardware specifically designed for stereo :)

Hello, to all
I am new here, that's my first post, sorry to dig up this old thread, but it is exactly on the subject I am having trouble with.

Last time I was using 3D stereo was with my old GF 4 440MX, I was playing games like Quake 2/3, Gothic I/II, with a pair of anaglyph glasses, and I was a very happy gamer /haha.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':haha:' />

Well times changed, those nasty shaders came up, and I had to change the video board. Since I am a budget gamer, the solutions from the FX5xxx didn't appeal to me, so I went for an ATI Radeon 9600. Time went by, and I began missing that nice stereo thingy. For almost an year I was trying to run games in anaglyph mode on that radeon, trying olf drivers such as Wicked 3D: EyeScream, GLDirect 3.0... No use. Finally I found out that Serious Sam games support native anaglyph... Yey! Bought the SS: Second Encounter really cheap (it's an old game now), patched it to 1.07... and stereo gaming here I come.

Well after I tasted the old feeling once more, I said "That's it, I'm going back to nVidia". Found a nice 6600GT for my AGP rig. Hooked up everything, installed 91.31 forceware and stereo driver, put on my anaglyphs, only to find out that things have changed a lot from where I left them. No depth control... WTF I said... here I am now.

Reading trough this topic, it seems nVidia has abandoned the stereoscopic soultion (remaking an partially functional driver for newer boards, isn't my idea of progress).
I've spent a lot of time writing to ATI about their ignorrance for stereoscopy, finally got pissed of, bought an nVidia, and it seems I should have to write the same stuff to nVidia...

What's wrong with these people (both ATI and nVidia), display manifacturers are working hard to deliver cost/effective stereoscopic solutions. HMD manifacturers are trying to deliver affordable products. The coming of SED displays (by Cannon) will probably send the ShutterGlasses back in the game with full force. In the following 1-2 years both of the mentioned solutions will probably be a fact, and we have no solution from ATI, and a semi-adequate one from nVidia.

And not to forget that there are pretty good solutions for the moment, as advanced anaglyph glasses like the ProView series and the Mirachrome/Anachrome glasses. Lots of peaople still use CRT only because of the shutters.

Isn't there anything that we, as end consumers can do about it? Shaders and stuff is nice, pretty graphics - nice. Isn't it time that we finally be able to play in "3D" without any obstacle? I think the hardware available these days is more than capable of producing stereoscopic imaging...

You know back when the first GeForce reached reasonable prices, it wasn't the Hardware T&L (useless at that time) that made me buy one and put it in the place of my old VooDoo Banshee. The reason I boght the GF was exactly the stereo driver, and the awesome looks of Half Life, Quake 3, Slave Zero (superb in stereo), NBA and FIFA games.... None of those games used Hardware T&L, and all of them ran fine on the VooDoo, but the GeForce 256 gave them depth.
Back then I was thinking, "this is only the begging", well I was young and stupid :D

If there are any nVidia representatives reading this forum, please.... PLEASE!!! raise this topic among you colegues. When the stereo driver started it was a revolution with a great promise for the future. Nowadays it's almost dead.
