3D surround and different 3d monitor models It's not supported? Seriously?
I was wondering if anyone has confirmed that running surround 3d with different monitors doesn't work. I see it's listed as a requirement that all monitors must be the same make and model. But is it actually tested to not work, or just their recommendation for "best results".
I bought an Alienware on Friday. Then the Acer went on sale at newegg so I cancelled the Alienware and bought the Acer instead. Dell decided to ship my monitor anyways and ignore the cancellation. Now I'll have to pay to ship it back and eat some restocking fees as well. I'd rather hold onto it if I can get 3d surround working with different models. (I'd buy a third.)

Sorry but from Nvidia you would need 3 of the same monitors thus matching refresh rates and frequencies. For instance the ALienware does 3ms in 3d while the Acer does 2ms thus the two screens would not be in sync even they both can display 120 frames in a second.

someoen may be able to provide an unlocked driver that will allow different monitors but only one screen may be optimized.

I'm not sure if the drivers will actually lock you out if you have different 120Hz monitors, but I'm sure that if they don't and you are able to do the 3D Vision Surround setup working you will not have a very good experience with it. First of all different sizes, heights, bezels will make it hard to properly adjust the displays, then the specifications, color reproduction, response rate and thus level of ghosting etc. will be different and will most likely make it uncomfortable.

I would put up with that to test my equipment with existing hardware instead of getting 2 additional monitors. I allready have the Acer and the samngsung (bad idea getting the acer I should have waited on something larger)

Not to put too fine a point on it, but if you enjoy intentionally butting heads right off the bat with technology that hasn't even been released yet, and consciously doing something that goes totally against its preparation suggestions...
