Quadro Driver for 3D Vision in May? (perhaps in the 185 Release.....?)

Dear Andrew,
I am using the latest 186.18 driver CD with Vista x64 and a Quadro FX 3700.
I can see some options in the OpenGL settings like:
- On-board DIN (via Nvidia emitter)
- On-board DIN
- generic active stereo (via Nvidia emitter)
- generic active stereo
For me it seems that this driver support Stereo on Quadro cards, but whatever option I choose, the emitter and the glasses are not activated while the image on the screen looks perfectly double, also with 120Hz.

Are you trying to run an Nvidia demo full-screen or a 'stereo-in-a-window' Windows application? I have the exact same setup FX 3700/Vista x64. After switching my Quadro to the other PCI-E port and installing the latest Quadro driver/v1.09 stereo driver, I had no problem at all viewing Nvidia's demos or the stereo movies in full-screen 3D (couldn't get Medusa to run but haven't tried Andrew's suggested settings yet). I selected "- generic active stereo (via Nvidia emitter)" from the Control Panel's 3D Settings" and made sure Stereo was "on" and that my monitor was set to 3d stereo monitor (or something like that, otherwise you get the double image, but it's the passive anaglyph). Did you run the stereo test, also located in the Control Panel? You say the emitter isn't activated, but is it detected and glowing green, or glowing red?
If you're trying to view a windowed GIS or CAD application, I wasn't able to get that running in 3D either. I have two stereo GIS applications that run within a program called ArcMap. I wasn't able to find a combination of parameters that allowed the glasses to sync with the windowed stereo image. The latest Control Panel Release Notes in the Professional 3D Stereo section (beginning on page 52) says "[i]The NVIDIA graphics driver comes with builtâ€in support for 3D stereoscopic viewing of OpenGL applications developed for 3D stereo. This is also referred to as “professionalâ€, “workstationâ€, or “quadâ€buffered†stereo.[/i]" The CP notes also say "[i]Supported Stereo Configurations Under Windows XP The NVIDIA drivers support both fullâ€screen and windowed stereo under Windows XP. Table C.1 details which stereo modes are supported under which GPU/display configurations[/i]." so we should be able to do this, whether we're using Vista or XP. I've asked Andrew for help on this in another thread. If I get it working, I'll update this thread on how it happened.

I want to run OpenGL stereo in a window. The fullscreen demos are running but as far as I understand this is all DirectX stuff.
My emitter is glowing green and when activated in DirectX/fullscreen-stereo it glows light green.
When running an OpenGL stereo application, the emitter glows just green and nothing happens with the glasses while the screen is showing the correct image.
I want to run OpenGL stereo in a window. The fullscreen demos are running but as far as I understand this is all DirectX stuff.

That's good news, Andreas. I was very happy to get stereo applications running in XP (which I described in another thread) but so far, I haven't been able to duplicate that with Vista for some reason. Our only interest would be the Samsung 2233RZ upgrade for all our workstations, most of our CRT´s are very old.

Since my last post in this thread I've been able to view stereo-in-a-window (in my case, using a program called ArcMap), ghost-free and flicker-free, in both Vista and XP using the 186.18 drivers. I had to use the "nvstereo.inf" and nvstusb.inf" drivers from the Vista-only NVIDIA 3D Vision Driver (download [url="http://www.nvidia.com/object/geforce_3D_vision_winvista_186.18.html"]here[/url]) in order to for the emitter to be detected. See the "[url="http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=97790"]3D Vision + OpenGl[/url]" thread for a few more details. I really wish you could have hung on to the 3D Vision/2233RZ a few more days. This is the driver you were waiting for.

Since my last post in this thread I've been able to view stereo-in-a-window (in my case, using a program called ArcMap), ghost-free and flicker-free, in both Vista and XP using the 186.18 drivers. I had to use the "nvstereo.inf" and nvstusb.inf" drivers from the Vista-only NVIDIA 3D Vision Driver (download here) in order to for the emitter to be detected. See the "3D Vision + OpenGl" thread for a few more details. I really wish you could have hung on to the 3D Vision/2233RZ a few more days. This is the driver you were waiting for.

We were planning on using that same 3d setup to run with Summit from DatEm.
Unfortunently, the negative reply from nvidia´s customer support sent us in the wrong direction.
Still, i will try to convince my boss to go for another round, it wont be easy i guess... :wacko:

Hi all, i tried the Ogre3D patch for active stereo on Vista and with the latest quadro driver it's also work.
I simply set : Generic active stereo (with NVIDIA IR Emitter) because i have the official glasses from the nvision pack
Wasn't easy , i freezed 5 times my vista ;)
So first i installed the latest gforce driver ( i have a GTX 285 too)
After the latest nvision driver
And finally the latest Quadro driver (186.18)

Does anyone knows if the vesa 3.5mm jack on the emitter can be used to plug to the mini Din 3D on the back of the quadro board, or is this just for the DLP HD Tv´s?

I'm not fixed to XP, so i will ask in another way: [b]which quadro cards can i use with 3D Vision? So far I've seen only list of GeForce cards, but they don't support "quad buffered stereo".[/b] I've already bought a Geforce and - depending on open results - i'm unsure to buy a new quadro.
For finding a solution for the poor stereo quality i have tried another IR-emitter and shutter glasses from Nuvision. It works, but exactly with the same effects...

I´m trying to figure out if the problem is in the software, glasses/monitor and LCD polarized filters, or in the emitter´s signal.
We use Summit from DatEm, what fotogrammetric software are you guys using?

Did you run the stereo test, also located in the Control Panel? You say the emitter isn't activated, but is it detected and glowing green, or glowing red?
If you're trying to view a windowed GIS or CAD application, I wasn't able to get that running in 3D either. I have two stereo GIS applications that run within a program called ArcMap. I wasn't able to find a combination of parameters that allowed the glasses to sync with the windowed stereo image. The latest Control Panel Release Notes in the Professional 3D Stereo section (beginning on page 52) says "[i]The NVIDIA graphics driver comes with builtâ€in support for 3D stereoscopic viewing of OpenGL applications developed for 3D stereo. This is also referred to as “professionalâ€, “workstationâ€, or “quadâ€buffered†stereo.[/i]" The CP notes also say "[i]Supported Stereo Configurations Under Windows XP The NVIDIA drivers support both fullâ€screen and windowed stereo under Windows XP. Table C.1 details which stereo modes are supported under which GPU/display configurations[/i]." so we should be able to do this, whether we're using Vista or XP. I've asked Andrew for help on this in another thread. If I get it working, I'll update this thread on how it happened.
Are you trying to run an Nvidia demo full-screen or a 'stereo-in-a-window' Windows application? I have the exact same setup FX 3700/Vista x64. After switching my Quadro to the other PCI-E port and installing the latest Quadro driver/v1.09 stereo driver, I had no problem at all viewing Nvidia's demos or the stereo movies in full-screen 3D (couldn't get Medusa to run but haven't tried Andrew's suggested settings yet). That's good news, Andreas. I was very happy to get stereo applications running in XP (which I described in another thread) but so far, I haven't been able to duplicate that with Vista for some reason. Full-screen works fine but the glasses aren't syncing up with the monitor when viewed in a window. I'll re-install the drivers, reboot, and reset various parameters. I'm glad to know that it can be done - thanks for the update!

Since my last post in this thread I've been able to view stereo-in-a-window (in my case, using a program called ArcMap), ghost-free and flicker-free, in both Vista and XP using the 186.18 drivers. I had to use the "nvstereo.inf" and nvstusb.inf" drivers from the Vista-only NVIDIA 3D Vision Driver (download [url="http://www.nvidia.com/object/geforce_3D_vision_winvista_186.18.html"]here[/url]) in order to for the emitter to be detected. See the "[url="http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=97790"]3D Vision + OpenGl[/url]" thread for a few more details. I really wish you could have hung on to the 3D Vision/2233RZ a few more days. This is the driver you were waiting for.

Since my last post in this thread I've been able to view stereo-in-a-window (in my case, using a program called ArcMap), ghost-free and flicker-free, in both Vista and XP using the 186.18 drivers. I had to use the "nvstereo.inf" and nvstusb.inf" drivers from the Vista-only NVIDIA 3D Vision Driver (download here) in order to for the emitter to be detected. See the "3D Vision + OpenGl" thread for a few more details. I really wish you could have hung on to the 3D Vision/2233RZ a few more days. This is the driver you were waiting for.

We were planning on using that same 3d setup to run with Summit from DatEm.
Unfortunently, the negative reply from nvidia´s customer support sent us in the wrong direction.

The glasses normal configuration, on Geforce boads works well, and the 2233RZ shows no sign of ghosting nor pseudoscopy, although all our software products fail to recognize the GeForce-(Quad buffer/page flip).
My wild guess is that the actual quadro drivers are only compatible with normal CRT´s, maybe some some function is used to correct the image elliptical refraction, and this dosent displays well on the LCD screen.
If not, what causes this strange effect on the 2233RZ screen, did anyone here experienced this already?
Does anyone knows if the vesa 3.5mm jack on the emitter can be used to plug to the mini Din 3D on the back of the quadro board, or is this just for the DLP HD Tv´s?

I have the same problem with a Quadro FX 3400. This is the response I received from Andrew in another thread - "Your GPU is pre-G80 so it won’t work with 3D Vision." It works for another user with a Quadro FX 3700.

I have not received an answer so far. I also have Nuvision and had the same results as you. I am trying to obtain a FX 3700 to test.
I also runned the test with a Quadro Fx 4600 and "AFAIK", Edimensional and Stereographics Crystal-Eyes also wont display correctly on the 2233RZ.

We use Summit from DatEm, what fotogrammetric software are you guys using?
