Mass Effect: Andromeda - 3D Vision Fix (3D Vision Partial-fix released)
3 / 27
I think it's fairly safe to assume that Bioware rushed the game out to capitalize on previous Mass Effect games success.
They started working on Andromeda since the end of ME3 development. So no, 5 years of work is not "rushing".
DA 2 was rushed, and it was pathetic. ME Andromeda doesn't look "pathetic", but yes in some way, it looks below peole expectations (at least technically).
IMO frosbite 3 seems really limited regarding faces animations (DA:I was also meh about character realism). It seems to be a good engine to display great landscapes and lighting effects, but RPG also need charismatic and credible characters...
I don't know why people want to get a reliable idea of the game's quality by playing it only a few hours: this game is about story, discoveries, leveling...Since they have none of this during this early access, they point out obvious bad aspects.
So yes, I'd stay cautious about these feedback and wait for complete reviews from people who have cleaned the game.

I don't want to side track this into political realms, but one of the lead designers of this game has been pretty public with what I would call racist opinions and attitudes, and the game definitely feels like it's forcing some sort of "Inclusive" ideology, which I find a bit repulsive. (not the notion of it itself, but the fact it's being forced down our throats so obviously hard)
Well, try walking in my shoes. Would you care to hear how repulsive and annoying it is to get heteronormativity shoved down my throat in 99,9% of entertainment content every day of my life? Yeah, thought not ;)
Including an interesting variety of people is hardly racist, in a science-fiction game which already features all sorts of aliens anyway. Diversity is always great if you don't feel threatened by it.

So... good news:
Surround works flawless.
No problem in getting to make it work like any other FB3 engine based games.
Bad news:
Compute shaders are BROKEN. It looks like this is a previous engine build from BF1. So.... only chance is to disable all the FANCY lighting and go that way. (Is exactly like SW: Battlefront) sadly:(
Looks decent enough with the fancy lighting disabled...
So is not the same engine as in DA:I (where lights would work perfectly fine without CS and not BF1 where light would work fine except for some culling. We got the shitty SW:Battlefront engine where lights render in ONE EYE.. grr). Mirror's Edge Catalyst was like this as well...
Crap... :( A bit disappointed..
Edit:
Headers are also stripped in all shaders.. Awesome... :(

Good luck to whoever wants to fix the game :(. It's sad that graphical features need to be removed. I got stuck with Dead Rising 3 because of just ONE shader, the last one needing a fix, because it's the most important one about lighting (flashlight and some other light sources, but not all). It's about a compute shader too (IIRC) according to DHR, so I feel for you, Helifax.

Hahaha good one;)
Unfortunately, while the MOCAP kinda sux in some case for face animations all those "glitches" are not present on the PC. (Must have been a console capture footage where the speed of the HDD is well... crap, as I noticed on my PS4). But those faces...Mhhh... delicious;)

So far, no Frostbyte Engine game has the Compute Shaders fixed as they render MONO in the first place... I think the 3D Vision Driver / Engine is weird and don't "work" nice together... :(
Disabling the CS pretty much makes the game un-playable in certain locations... I think the best bet for the game is Compatibility Mode. Seems to work OK-ish so far.
Like DA:I the game also needs a bit of an Aspect Ratio FIX for the cutscenes which are center monitor only in Surround...

Ahh except you are missing the point a bit. There isn't an interesting variety. There is no real diversity at all, Your choices and customization options are actually extremely narrow. It's like they want to force you to play the characters they have created. Depending on what face you choose you have an extremely limited range of options, and you can't customize the default Ryders at all. Also I never said the game was racially charged as such. I merely pointed to the fact one of the lead designers blatantly is, and you can see his influence. Is on record, saying things publicly on twitter that if aimed at any other ethnicity than white people would have got him fired. But apparently that's ok in the world we live...
There are also no classically attractive female faces to choose from. Worse than that they are all very weird looking and completely disconnected from the male options, no consistency in art direction. Also painfully obvious what they are doing here. It's bait pure and simple. I get your point but also you have to understand until recent times gaming has largely been a male hetereosexual demographic, and thankfully this is changing but true diversity would be a CC that allows you to create any type of character you want, and this is one of the worst in a roleplaying game of this kind I have seen in a while.
To illustrate, As it stands, yes my character is a white guy, because I like to play something I can identify with being a white male in real life, (in reality I am a bit of a mix like most of us) and his sister is asian because after messing around with the tools ended up being the coolest looking female character I could make, and a white customization option is not given. So they look nothing alike, yet the father is a spititng image of my main character with wrinkles. Yay diversity.... And these two are twins right? The pathfinder mentions that your mother would be proud of both of you, so they have the same mother and the character clearly states the sister beat him into the world buy a few minutes. ... But I guess I am just a bigot.... (here is a spoiler, I am not.) and yes I understand twins don't have to look the same but I think the criticism still stands.
You can see why they did this, it's so when people complain they can pull the racists/sexist card. typical extremely leftist agenda bullshit to promote more pointless fighting, and to point out how bigoted the game populace is. let see if the bait gets taken....
but whatever...
Like I said I don't want to side track this thread politically, and I am glad you are happy, so I will leave it at that. I am enjoying the game for what it is after all.
It's a shame about the compute shaders, I am finding the CM mode better than most in this game, so if that's all we get I will be ok with it.
How is performance for everyone? I am finding it a bit stuttery. Hopefully on release some better drivers will come out for it.

Good news is I managed to fix the damn Shadows, even without the Headers and by basically taking a wild-guess as what is what;)) Seems to have paid off;)
Some reflections are also broken and ofc the Compute Shaders rendering very weird... Doubt we can do anything about the CS though...
I still have 3 hours left from this stupid Origin Access crap - which I'll cancel afterwards anyway.
Curious to see how much I can do in these 3 hours that are left...
Forgot to mention, fixed the Cinematics to be on all screens in Surround, as well.

Great Helifax! You are like Neo now. LOL you can see the code!
I wasn't a big fan of origin access at first but then I checked out the vault and so many cool free games! I suggest you try Unraveled as it's amazing in 3D. I think for me it's worth it as there are always at least a couple games that I can play a month for free and at 5 bucks it's a decent value. I would never have payed for Mirrors edge or FIfa, or SW battlefront but it's fun to just jump in once in a while...

So my trial is up.
Unfortunately the Compute Shaders don't work and it seems to be a driver problem as not all CS are rendering in stereo. some of them simply render in just one eye :( I don't think there is anything we can do about it as is a 3D Vision Automatic driver problem...
If CS disabled, most interiors will look bland without funky lighting but it renders perfectly fine:

However, some cutscenes in the beginning will be mostly BLACK :(

Aside from this, once you get to the planet surface, this doesn't matter anymore;) And the game can look very good!
Fixed so far:
- Shadows
- Reflections
- Some UI
- Some decals

So, I don't know... maybe some parts of the game can be played in CM and other in Geometry 3D, as I can't see any way around the CS problem :(
They had to use a different engine version than Battlefiend 1...

I am curious if anyone else wants to get a stab at fixing this CS problem?
I know both me and DHR tried before but didn't get any results;)
I expect we need some heavy frame analysis here, so whoever knows very good, please do let me know.
Initially I thought, due to the separation and convergence that the CS rendered in both eyes, but the bounding-box is mono/2D and that is why some effects are missing in eye.
Thus, I went back to 0 depth and even here, the effects are missing in one eye. Perhaps, the CS gets confused as in the left eye due to the "-1" sign in the offset, in which case we need to keep the shaders running 2 times per frame, but don't let the driver run the Auto-Stereo heuristics on them...
Maybe DSS, DJ-Ark, masterotaku, etc want to give it a helping hand and see if it makes more sense for them? :)
Cheers!

Cheers!
Hi helifax, just send PM to DSS for suplicate help to you
If anyone wants to help.. pm me and i will buy the game, i can buy 2 keys max...
otherwise...may be we would have to wait to official relase...
PD: impressive pictures :)))
PD2: Good news the surround fix ;) Big thanks

However, some cutscenes in the beginning will be mostly BLACK :(
And this is when CS are enabled but rendering one eye :(
Aside from this, once you get to the planet surface, this doesn't matter anymore;) And the game can look very good!
