Bluray 3D appreciation thread
Hi guys,

Finally got ahold of the Monsters vs Aliens blu-ray. Does anybody know which software is currently able to play this on 3D Vision? I've seen ads from Cyberlink, but nothing concrete yet.

Question for NVIDIA techs: does the bluray 3D fix mentioned in the 257 drivers release notes bring HDCP support @ 120hz?

Unfortunately no software will play that blu-ray yet. You will find links to ways to re-encode it so it will play in nVidia video player.

We are awaiting Cyberlink's software update...but all they said is "summer"

What player are you using? Is it connected to your PC?

If hdcp is used for a specific 3d-blurays then the bluray will be locked to only one type of display (if the 3dbr is encoded with an interleaved image then only devices which accepts this will work). The idea with hdcp is that the image goes directly from the bluray to the monitordevice while no softs are allowed to interfere with the signal. I'm not saying it's impossible because you need to use piracing methods (or in nvidias case permittion to reencode) to play a bought bluray on your own solution. This makes me doubt if someone ever will use hdcp for a 3d-bluray. I know hardwaremanufacturers are bidding on releasing specific movies for their displays only. So: Panasonic users might be able to see avatar but not coraline and samsung users coralina but not avatar etc... Let's hope this will not happen though...

Do you require a 3D Bluray player or will a normal player work?

To play blu-ray you need a bluraydrive. If hdcp is used the stream goes directly into your monitor regardless of software used to play it. This means that the bluray needs to stream a 3d-format accepted by the monitor. If possible i think the nvidia stereoplayer will play 3d-blurays but i'm not sure about eventual hdcp problems. The same with peter wimmers stereoscopic player. Let's see what happens.
