Dead Space 3 - definitely hope for 3D Vision
  1 / 5
Reading the news on areagames.de (German Online-Games magazine) I stumbled over an article concerning Dead Space 3 and an interview in which the developers said something about the PC-version of the game. Now here comes the paradox: The article says PC-players should be really disappointed because in the mentioned interview the developers confirmed the PC-version of the game would be a simple console-port and would NOT FEATURE DIRECTX-11!!! I guess you know what that means. While all those "Flat-2D-Gamers" will indeed be disappointed these news should get our hopes really high. Helix, I hope you're not too busy right now 'cause I smell an occasion for your next masterpiece (in case it is not 3D ready by default)!

I thought exactly the same thing as soon as I saw the DX9 comment. I hope we either keep getting DX9 clients in the future, or nvidia pulls their finger out and actually drums up some propper support for their product.

Hopefully DS3 will work in 3D. I tried downloading the demo and ended up with a corrupted file so I was unable to see if 3D Vision would kick in. I suspect that if the 3D kicks in, it will need fixing. Dead Space 2 was atrocious without Helix's fix. With his fix, this is my numero uno 3D game. I am crossing my fingers for Dead Space 3......me wants bad...lol

As far as I know, there ain't no PC demo for Dead Space 3. The demo is only for the consoles (Xbox).

EA just doesn't give up, they keep testing the waters on their DLC practices... http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2013-01-22-dead-space-3-includes-micro-transactions-for-buying-better-weapons Milking every cent, there are some real dough heads that'll pay with "real" dollars for these micro transactions which sadly condones this kind of publisher/developer behavior. What next, partial games. In order to appreciate the full experience....please insert CC here....wtf!!!?!?? I don't want to hear the "optional" argument because it is this attitude that encourages incomplete products...it doesn't matter anyway, most of the recent games have been crap...I am going to wait before I take the plunge on Dead Space 3. Need to verify that this can be be played in 3D and will also likely require fixing. EA are a bunch of ....ok, rant over with....LOL

Had a quick go (the game can be unlocked in offline mode now) and there are numerous issues in 3D, such as shadows, flares, and all the usual stuff, just like Dead Space 2. Not that this came as a surprise or anything as not supporting 3D Vision seems to be a kind of a trend lately. Hopefully Helix and co will fix it as it's luckily still a DX9 title...

Not a suprise at all. Dead Space 1 and 2 has never been 3D Vision Ready, and had no 3D Vision support. It worked thanks to tweaking, fixing and helix's magic to be one of the best 3D games to date. I am 100% sure the developers don't give a flying crap about 3D and probally never even seen how good this game can look in 3D. For them 3D is just a gimmick just like 99% of the PC/console communit think as well. It seems that Dead Space 3 will be a great a game, but since its still DX9 and uses the exactly same engine as Dead Space 2, this is going to be a walk in park for Helix and I know he loves this game and will want to make it perfect for us. At least we know we can all play Dead Space 3 in perfect 3D with Helix help, and this enough good news. DS3 might be still DX9, but it's one of the best looking games I've played so far, graphics/story and atmosphere is just fantastic in this game and we'll be able to enjoy it in 3D, cause we know Helix can and will fix it. That's what matters!!!!!!

I've been playing it and its not horrible so far, I turned off shadows and it made a huge improvement. Its is playable with ease so far, an d I do have some pics but can't seem to get them uploaded to 3dvisionlive atm, but will post soon. Oh yea, Idk if it helped or not, but I am using the ds2 helix mod on it as well

I just started it (without helix fix) and I think it looks great in 3D so far. As others said it is not without issues- I had to turn shadows off and in the opening segments the fellow you control had a slight dark halo at times but once the real game started Isaacs avatar didn't have the same problem and I haven't seen any more halos or any other noticable problems so far. So not perfect but still pretty dang good for playing on launch without any shadet fixes. Definately looks SIGNIFICANTLY better than DS1 or 2to looked without fixes, nothing gamebreaking by any means and so far nothing that was even just irritating but tolerable. Still perfectly possible something more game breaking could occur later in the game in other environments. Did you say theres already a helix fix for it? I didn't expect one so early and didn't even thimk to check for it. Visually this game is a real treat in 3d, like all deadspace games the whole style is just amazing in 3D and its hard to believe the deva didn't even have 3d in mind when they designed it because it just looks so awesome. This will definately be a fantastic 3d experience with a helix fix, the kind you show off to your friends. Even without dx 11 features this game knows how yo show off 3dto and emphasize it in the right places, even if the devs didn't mean it to.

The DS2 helix doesn't work, I hadn't really tested it long enough to find out. It is pretty much like inosinate says, soon to be a fix but still playable.

Ah, I misread the previous comment and didn't catch that he was asking if the DS2 fix worked, not DS3. That makes more sense. At any rate I wouldn't have expected the DS2 fix to work but never hurts to try things out, I appreciate you letting us know that it's not a solution. Oh well, at least the game is still very playable, I really wanted to play it right away and I was worried I'd be forced to play in 2d, or just stubbornly play it in a broken 3d state and be constantly distracted by disconnected visuals. Forgive my typos in my last comment I'm posting on my phone and it makes it near impossible to back track and edit without starting completely over.
