3d Vision and Samsung Synmaster S23A700D
  2 / 2
Hello all,

I'm thinking of trying to get this to work as well on the S23A700D as well. I'm pretty sure the only way 3D works is hooking it up via DVD-D Dual Link and not HDMI so I've tried that but it looks like it's still coming down to the drivers. has anyone gotten it to work past the 285 series drivers? Going from 290 drivers down to 285 is not something I want to do since I'll lose the fixes on the newer game releases.

Please help and thanks in advanced.

Hi everyone.
Thanks to you all for your tricks & suggestions. I want to know something about Samsung 3d glasses with S23A700D. Do they work with or without battery ? If yes, then what is the lifetime of the battery ?

Hi, I think your monitor uses the same glasses as mine. I have the S27A950D, but it's about the same hardware as yours, the differences concerns screen size and design.

The glasses that came with my monitor, model SSG-M3150 use buttom batteries and are not rechargeable. The batteries last very long, I haven't replaced them yet and played more than 30 hours I think. They are very confotable unlike the 1st 2010 IR Samsung 3D glasses that came out. It doesn't hurt the back of your ears anymore. The new bluetooth models are really easy on your ears.

I also bought the better model, SSG-M3750cr, which costs around 100 dollars and are sold separetely. These glasses are rechargeable using USB connection and the batteries last the same as 3DV glasses I think. The deal. this model is the most confortable and lighter 3D glasses I've ever used. They feel like passive glasses because they're very light and I think they're the best ones in the market. You might wanna check them out, it's always good to have 2 3D glasses at your disposal, in case some friend stop by at your house and you wanna show him some 3D. I highly recommend the SSG-M3750cr 3D glasses for owners of the new Samsung 3D syncmaster monitors. Also, they don't need to be turned on by pressing a button like the 3150 model or 3DV glasses, they turn on when 3D is enabled and turn off automatically if you disable 3D, really cool feature.

Hi there!

I have been reading alot of forums trying to get my samsung s23a700d get to work with 3d vision.

I tried the emulator with the older drivers, that worked but not to well. Because of the older drivers.

Now finally i found a way to run 3d vision with the latest display drivers (!)
on this monitor and i guess it would work on any non 3d vision certified monitor!
Can you beleive that? I still cannot beleive it :D

If some people want to know how i did it, ask me on this forum, i don't know if i can put a tutorial here.

It involves installing a 3d vision certified monitor driver.... and the rest is the same as the old method, besides some small things.

i dont know if this is allowed here, but i get lost of e-mail because of this :D

here we go:

How to use nvidia 3d vision with the latest drivers on the samsung 3d monitor

Hello!

(This is a copy paste from an earlier comment i made)

Follow those instructions you posted with the following modifications:

(if you've already attempted to install, go into device manager find the device its trying to install and remove it - might be called generic hid or along those lines)

download the emitter emulator here: http://uploading.com/files/get/5bc1e633/

Before you do anything you need to disable Windows from fetching drivers from windows update else it will download drivers you don't want and won't work (System > Advanced System Settings > Hardware > Device Installation Settings > Never install driver software from Windows Update)
Next thing you need to do is alter (right click and choose edit) the init_x64.bat and remove the /i /s option from the regsvr32 then when you run it this time you should get a message confirming it was successfully installed.

After running enable_stereo.bat you'll need to download nvidia drivers version 285.62 (if you don't allready have it) and extract the files but don't install anything. Go into device manager and find NVIDIA steroscopic 3d usb controller, right click and update driver software > browse my computer for driver software > Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer > Have Disk... > Browse to "C:\nvidia\DisplayDriver\285.62\WinVista_Win7_64\English\NV3DVisionUSB.Driver" (alter as appropiate if you selected to extract the driver files somewhere else). Let it install those drivers which it should do successfully.

Next, you'll want to use a different .inf from another monitor as the .inf in that link does not support 120hz 1080p. The one I used is the Alienware AW2310 Active 120hz monitor one from here: http://3dvision-blog.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=2025&start=10. Follow these instructions to install the inf, but obviously using the Alienware inf you just downloaded, http://blog.bagearon.com/2010/11/fix-nvidia-3dtv-play-samsung-3d-plasma-or-other-unsupported-model/ Reboot after installing the new monitor driver.

Then you should be able to run the nvidia 3d vision setup wizard fine. However, one thing I had to do was swap the l/r image on the monitor (you can do this via the osd on the monitor in the 3d options) as you'll find if you don't change it when it asks you to test the left/right images on the setup wizard they'll be the wrong way around.

If you have any problems then let me know.

You are amazing! I just got this monitor today, and currently I've been...less than blown away by the 3D performance. I mean I haven't tried doing anything fancy, just converting 2D-3D (is that all you can do with Nvidia graphics cards natively by the way?). I'm extremely excited to try this out! I have a few questions first.

1) Do you need the actual, physical, Nvidia IR emitter to make this work? I know several other workaround require you to have this.
2) Does the "do not update drivers" thing have to be on permanently to keep this working? Is there a way to set it to only not install this one driver automatically, or is it system wide? Seems like it would be really inconvenient to have this off forever...

Hello there.

Recently my new Samsung S23A700D has arrived. Tried TriDef, it's working the way it should. But i'd like to give nvidias solution a shot and see advantages / disadvantages of each approach. Can you share your guide with me please!

Thanks in advance!

no you don't need the nvidia emitter, because samsung has a built-in emitter.
And this emitter works 100% with 3d vision

And all the info on how to install 3d vision is in my older reply.

Good luck

i dont know if this is allowed here, but i get lost of e-mail because of this :D

here we go:

How to use nvidia 3d vision with the latest drivers on the samsung 3d monitor

...

I have bought the same 120Hz Samsung monitor, it will arrive tomorrow. I can't wait!
But im just wondering how this works. You wrote that this works with the lastest drivers from nvidia, right? (atm. 301.42)But you are installing the driver version 285.62, because the 3d vision worked in that update. So you are not installing the lastest nvidia drivers, but the old one, am i wrong? Can one update to the lastest drivers after, and still have the 3d vision working?

My second question is about the .inf file from another monitor. Why would you want to use an .inf from another monitor? The S23A700D is full HD 3D.

Hope you can answer my questions :)

I got the exact same monitor and but dont have the nvidia 3d vision stuff, so i decided to try to pair and use its own glasses & emitter
And i got it working along with this strange left-right inverting each minute or so i mean left eye goes right and back in that fashion each ~50 seconds !! Apart from that it would be all great i mean quality and the frame rate as compared to the crappy tridef

So what do you think the problem might be? and what ways of fixing it!!!!!!!

heres a thread that has the same problem
