that would be excellent, i'm trying to get hold of the TDVision Decoder 3, I think this is what PowerDVD will have included later in the year. I have also managed to get my hands on 2 source codes for beta MVC packages but its been a long time since my programming days. I can forward them on to someone who knows how to compile them!

While we wait, a little bit more info on the MVC codec itself
TDVISION TDVCODEC SOLUTION
TDVision stores the 3D stereoscopic perspective in such a way that the Left
video stream (2D) is kept intact and stored into the video_data section of
the digital video stream. The Right perspective or the Stereo Disparity or
the Delta (option selected at encoding time) is stored at a different section
of the video stream, therefore, ignored by the legacy 2D decoders,
providing full 2D compatibility. The TDVCodec has the flexibility to store the
full right frame, the stereo disparity (SD) or the XOR difference (Delta) on
that section to optimize the bandwidth as well as an optimized delta. When
received on a TDVision decoder, it will automatically read our identifier and
decode the Left frame, retrieve the Right section and provide the
stereoscopic decoded info to the respective frame buffer(s) preparing it in
any possible way for the display in use (checkerboard, full stereo, side by
side) using the HDMI EDID/DDC.
TDVision has overcome all the drawbacks associated with previous 3D
technologies; TDVision is the only technology where:
● TDVCodec is fully compatible with 2D legacy decoders and 3D when
TDVision technology is available or implemented.
● By using any of the available 3D options, the video stream can be
optimized for quality and/or bandwidth.
● TDVCodec doesn't present any visual artifacts like the Side by Side
and the 2D plus depth counterparts (TDVision does not present
occlusion, transparency or depth limitations and is fully compatible
with 2D)
● Implementation requires just a modification on the firmware and/or
our TDVCodec decoder in software.
● No loss in quality or resolution
● Provides the best HD quality for both, 3D and 2D formats
Once a video stream is encoded with TDVision's technology, it can be played
back in a normal legacy 2D decoder since the 3D complimentary
information will just be discarded at playback time, whereas a new updated
decoder will retrieve the 3D information properly.
Depending on the method selected at encoding time, the Right information,
Delta information or Stereo Disparity can optimize the bandwidth or the
quality, providing up to full HD 3D.
There are no visual artifacts or distortions, since TDVision stores the
complete stereoscopic pair and it's reconstructed and decoded as originally
captured, no visual artifacts, no detriment, no invented pixels, no occlusion.
Modifying the firmware by adding our decoding method or using our
software decoder is all it takes for the end user to achieve full 3D immersive
experience everywhere, basically a simple download or firmware update.

When

decode the Left frame, retrieve the Right section and provide the

stereoscopic decoded info to the respective frame buffer(s) preparing it in

any possible way for the display in use (checkerboard, full stereo, side by

decoder will retrieve the 3D information properly.

I would've assumed that too but the other categories list each card individually.

Let's hope someone got lazy when typing the page then especially since I already paid the hefty fee to get PowerDVD 10 Ultra...

Oh and to stay on topic, that dude in the email chain seems a little obsessed.

^ Apparently someone has had success at finding out how the SSIF file works and is decoding it !
That someone shall remain nameless but is a user of this board. This is probably the best shot
we have, and no it's not me.

Very cool news! I am interested in knowing how much it differs from standard blu ray. If not for anything else, at least to learn how they work these things out technically. :) Thank you.

I have heavy respect about work like this ... but if it only works for money, he's is in the wrong scene, and he can do with his clips what he wants (feel happy, sleep with them, ...), it don't will take much time, you will find the solution everywhere ... so don't support capitalism ... he's at the moment the first one, who solved the problem, that have to be earning enough <- a lot of respect!!!! ... that's my opinion!
We all do that for fun and to be the first one's to watch this video, not to earn money! We all have to share our knowlegde, that's the only way to become big :)
