apparently memory timing isn't particually important so I'd be inclined to save the money, unless you want it for cosmetic reasons of course. If you want to spend some more money consider the i7 860 instead.

I noticed you have a Mitsu dlp, whats the benefit for 3d front projector? everything I've read is that mitsu's can display 3d at higher resolutions then the frontals.

well- that could be debated. i would say that the IQ is really close and that your budget should take a higher priority. i love my mits DLP- but it runs 1080p checkerboard which is half resolution. your computer is rendering 1080p 3d but your display shares (interlaces) the pixels. So in theory checkerboard does have more pixels and the interlacing effect might trick your eyes into thinking its seeing a better picture. I dont know first hand- i have not seen a side by side comparison. the tv has the advantage of easier set up. its just plug and play.

@ jjgreenwood, do you have an graphic tests comparisons to justify the x58/i7? Everything I've seen just puts it up about 10 fps. Again, I am admittedly ignorant to computers so I could have just been looking at bad studies or whatnot.
I priced the stuff you suggested and from what I see:
The i5 was only 50 dollars more then the Phenom II set up and I gained around 14 fps. The i7 is about 250 dollars more for 10 fps gained on the i5. ???
