Hi! I really want to test S3D but i only can afford the glasses for now... However in the Nvidia description it says that a CRT should work. I wonder if its worth it? Is the picture acceptable?

I too can only affort the glasses and i've had them for about a year now. CRT can do 3d and it can even do it at 100-120hz, but just understand that crt is probably the worst display for ghosting in 3d shutter glasses, it's not that it isn't fast enough on hertz it's because of how crt works. the image doesn't instantly go away hence you will always have some ghosting on crt. what crt really needs is a 3rd all black image in between frames or timing adjustment to compensate for how long it takes for the image to go away on your given monitor.
So don't expect ghost free 3d on crt. from what i understand 3d ready dlp projectors are the BEST 3d display solution out. even 3d ready lcd's have some ghosting on high contrast(dark objects next to light ones) parts of the image.
If you do go crt you will quickly find that not all crt monitors are the same, and if you want to do any kind of gaming at a high resolution the horizontal refresh rate limit will come into play. personally i wouldn't even mess with a crt monitor for 3d if it's horizontal refresh rate is less then 110khz and yes horizontal refresh rate is in KILOHERTZ (x1000) and vertical is just straight hertz(cycles per second). it's the combination of the horizontal and vertical refresh rates that determine your monitors bandwidth(as i understand it). I use an hp1130 monitor which is a trinitron tube that has a horizontal refresh rate of 130kz. i can do 1600x1200@119hz or 1920x1200@100hz. I also have an old school nec 9pg crt projector that can do 95khz horizontal, and that will let me go up to 1024x768@115hz which is definitly do able for 3d. Basicly crt is the worst for ghosting and most pain in the butt for getting to work right at high res with win7 and the 3dvision drivers. They really need to put a disclaimer about crt 3d quality and compatibility with win7 vista and 3d vision drivers.
i logged on to look up 120hz lcd tv's and 3d vision. now that there are more 120hz lcd tv's coming out, and it looks like it's still more a matter of what nvidia is willing to cover as 3d ready, and if it's not in thier list then they don't want to worry about it.

You'll need a CRT that can do at least 100 Hz, preferably 120 Hz, in the res you want to game at. But yes, it works and while you get quite a bit of 'ghosting' (stereo crosstalk) it's still a nice 3D experience IMO.

Yeah, but even at 85Hz I found the flickering unpleasant after a while. If you're going to buy a CRT for 3D Vision and plan to use it long term, you're better off getting one that can do 120 Hz. I paid £35 (about $50) inc delivery for my Dell P1130 (21").
The good thing about a CRT is they still look sharp at lower resolutions. So you can use a res like 1280*960 which even with 3D on doesn't tax my single GTX260. If I switch to a 1080p LCD I'm gonna need a lot more GPU power.

The picture is still good, there is ghosting, and I dont get to use it much in fps games like cod, unless I feel like dieing a lot :P
I still think the 3D image is better with my CRT than it is with 3D vision discover (by far!), and I still think it was a worthy investment.
I'm just waiting for the ACER LCD's to come to Australia so I can get a proper 3D ready display :P

Yeah, but even at 85Hz I found the flickering unpleasant after a while. If you're going to buy a CRT for 3D Vision and plan to use it long term, you're better off getting one that can do 120 Hz. I paid £35 (about $50) inc delivery for my Dell P1130 (21").
The good thing about a CRT is they still look sharp at lower resolutions. So you can use a res like 1280*960 which even with 3D on doesn't tax my single GTX260. If I switch to a 1080p LCD I'm gonna need a lot more GPU power.
