Rayman Origins
Played Skyrim with the new Kit; all fine (especially after installing Helix).

Purchased Rayman Origins on Steam after seeing the reviews on here. Loaded it up and got the "Warning: Attempt to run Stereoscopic 3d in a non-stereo display mode ..." error.

Tried Skyrim again and it worked fine in 3d; Rayman again and got the same error.

Kit:

GeForce GTX 590

BenQ XL2410T Monitor

Windows 7 Ultimate (64 bit)

BenQ Monitor is connected via DVI 2 and according to the NVidia control panel running at 1920 x 1080 (Native) 120Hz refresh rate.

Any help is appreciated.

have you adjusted the game resolution and refresh rate???

you must set the game resoution to 1920x1080 and the refreshrate to 120hz (or 119hz)

that will probably work.

The game resolution is set in the game options at 1920 x 1080 but I can see no option on the game to set the refresh rate? Is there anywhere in the game options or elsewhere where I can set this?

Sonica, change the game resolution to 1280x720.....some games runs at 60hz even if you change the desktop resolution/refresh to 1080p/24hz (you're using 3dtv play?)

Since @OP is using benq xl2410t i believe it is not 3dtv play

Maybe what you can try, is go to the Nvidia control panel on the Test 3D settings button, (that fullscreen Nvidia logo floating around) select 1920x1080x120hz and click on the set this resolution to all progams. well my rayman origins was already working like that;

It is 3dtv http://benq.co.uk/products/LCD/index.cfm/product/1223

Thanks for everyones help; really do appreciate it. /thanks.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':thanks:' />

For those that want to know; to play the game in 3d you have to set the resolution to 1440 x 900

Figured it out after a couple of hours and then think to yourself !doh! /wallbash.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':wallbash:' />

Any other suggestions for games that are kid friendly and good in 3d (me to play in 3d; kid to enjoy in 2d as glasses wont fit him)?

I really want to say Portal but I have a feeling that's too "adult". I'd recommend watching on youtube and deciding.

Thanks eqzitara. I've looked at Portal 2 and am not too worried about it being too adult in terms of too much sex, violence etc just that a seven year old is going to get bored solving puzzles on there pretty quickly (given they are going to be too complicated for him) and move on. Is that what you meant by too "adult"?

He's not a big Sonic fan gotta say. Could try dungeon defenders but that seems a bit boring for a 7 year old tbh. Might try toy story. What I would really like is a shooter with no foul language and not too much blood either.

Kid Game in 3D

(3D Fix in my sig below) or
http://helixmod.blogspot.com/2012/06/bang-bang-racing-stereo-3d-on.html

720p 3D works perfect. Increase convergence until car rear bumper is in focus. Kids will like it i think. It's like driving small RC cars but they look real when you set the convergence like I said. It's completely G rated. You can do split-screen 2-player in 3D and its really fun.

A shooter without much blood and foul language.... Thats a toughie.
Orcs must die comes to mind. its shooter / tower defense.Has blood but its kind of "comedic deaths" *shrugs*
Don't quote me on this but Serious Sam 3 BFE. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BHDYi71Bjag You can change blood options. In its rating it just lists Mature: Blood and gore.... So I guess its safe.
Violence isnt excessive in Half life 2 Episode 1/2(that I remember), and no cursing.
However past that is kind of bleak tbh. The shooter crowd definetly likes their violence and cursing.

Is a good link to check out. If its worse then good, don't bother imo.

OOOOOO I completely forgot. Not a shooter BUT Trine 1/2 , Avatar , Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa . It looks great in 3d and its definetly child safe.

you are wrong, it is not a 3D TV it is a 3D MONITOR you can play at 1920x1080 but it requires you to use a DUAL LINK DVI cable without any adapters directly from the GPU to the monitor, the DVI DUAL LINK comes with it in the box, i have the same monitor by the way and i am using it to play at 1920x1080 60hz...

My older son is eight, and he just loves dungeon defenders! You might want to give it a try. It's pretty easy to pick up and play. He was also able to solve quite a few rooms in Portal as well. Not all of them yet, but I can tell it helps him to think a bit more abstractly. (if that's a word :^)

I played this game perfectly fine back on my old PC (no GTX675M drivers for new laptop yet :| )
Make sure you have only one screen connected, that's how i resolved this issue, other than that, check settings and CFG
