I've had no luck with starcraft in 3d on a win98se system with a geforce 4 card. It looks to me like it's a software mode only game. That's the key, like with Jedi Knight (dark forces 2), it's a DirectX 5 game and can work in 3d if you find the checkbox that enables hardware accellerated mode. Otherwise it will not work in 3d. The Starcraft CD has DX5 on it but the readme says you need DX2 as a minimum so I guess it's a DX2 game. Normally you can have some hope if it's a DX5 game or better so I don't expect a DX1/2/3 game to work (there is no DX4) but there are two games that surprised me. Independence Day ( not Independence War) is an old DX3 game that has a HW mode option and it works in 3d. The other one that surprised me was Hyperblade. It's a DX2 game by Activision. Leave it to Activision to be at the leading edge back then and have a HW mode DX2 game that works in 3d. It has some issues though so it's not really good in 3d. The only other chance you have with old games is if there's a 3dfx or voodoo version of the game, then you can use a glide wrapper called dgVoodoo and it can change the 3dfx calls to DX9 calls so that your 3d can come on. It's a neat trick. I can run Myth 1 and 2 in 3d using that and those games are from 1997 and 98. Tombraider 1 can work like that too but it can be bad depending on your hardware.
I expect Starcraft 2 to work in 3d but I'll just have to wait and see for myself. By the way, Warcraft 3 can be good in 3d if you find just the right settiings and depending on your style of play (don't do too much zooming).
OK, sorry about the too-much-info. I get carried away...

help, help, they're literally carrying me away! aaaaaaaaaaaa!!!
Lol! Yeah. I had to find my oldie and check it. And yes: This game definitely seems to be way too old to work in 3d (Like tomb raider 1 for example). There's a plugin for tombraider 1 (glidos) which i haven't tried. It enhances the graphic experience and maybe, just maybe is compatible in stereo.
I'm sorry for misleading. It's never my intention. :">

Yes, the voodoo dos version of tombraider 1 works good with glidos but only (for me anyway) in win98se with a geforce4 and driver 30.87. I forget the details but you need to use either the DX version of the glide wrapper or the OpenGL version. One works in 3d and the other doesn't. Note there's a 3dfx dos version of TR1 that's different from the voodoo version and doesn't wokrk in 3d. Anyway, If anyone has an old system and wants to try it, follow the directions on the GliDOS website. It's $10 to register GliDOS but it's free to try.
TR1 is actually pretty good in 3d once you find good 3d settings. I think it's because it doesn't zoom in to her face too much like in the newer TR's. Much of good 3d is all about camera placement/movement and environment. Of course it's best in open areas converged on Lara. There is a 3d HUD problem though from what I remember. It's usable though as long as separation is not too much. The auto aiming in this game is a great help in making it playable in 3d. No aiming problems at all.
Likay, if you are a TR fan and a Spiderman fan, try Catwoman. You can get it for a few bucks on ebay since it's generally overlooked and got bad reviews but I think it's OK for TR and spiderman game fans. She does alot of climbing, otherwise it's not that much like a spiderman game. Lara does alot of climbing too but it's more ledge-work than fence-climbing. Also catwoman does more hand-to-hand and whip-fighting whereas Lara mostly shoots. Also she swings on her whip alot like spiderman webswings, it's just a short-range thing.
Also, if you stop moving her, after a while she starts to groove and grind. It's kind of funny but it's probably the sexiest game I have except for Xblades.
Enjoy.
by the way, Likay, judging by your avatar, you're either a Linux guy or you work for Viking-Penguin. /haha.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':haha:' />

Tim, if you can't wait for Starcraft 2, try "Universe at War - Earth Assault". I've only tested it but it seems very Starcrafty and works in 3d. It just needs an auto-ranging pointer, but that's very rare unfortunately.

I tested this game and found it to work well under winXP using a geForce 7800GTX and driver 77.77.
Make the HUD 2d:
The game has a bad 3d HUD that is too close but fortunately you can fix it since the game can run with HW T&L off so disable it via the 3d display panel, then tweak a registry setting. Make this entry in the game's registry entry
under [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\NVIDIA Corporation\Global\Stereo3D\GameConfigs\game-name]
set RHWGreaterAtScreen to 3f7cf574
Don't forget to run the nvidia logo test at least once after you change HW-T&L off/on.
Then adjust sep/conv to make it lood good in 3d to your satisfaction.
That should do it. Enjoy.
Likay, I think everybody likes your penguin, especially with the 3d glasses.

Finding it, tried it and with no success with older drivers as well. It's seems to be way to old (but insanely fun though).
