Zalman Driver - Zalman a lying bunch of idiots
Hi All,

I've just got off the phone to Zalman and it looks like they are a lying bunch of idiots. when we phone last week they promised the drivers would be available today 22nd which was also verified by many others.

Now they are saying March / April time.

Enough is enough, F**k you Zalman you can have your piece of crap screen back.

Just to prove that Zalman was full of crap when they have people the date of the 22nd, here is an interview with nvidia from today that specifically states that the Zlaman drivers wont be available for a good few weeks yet.

Thanks for the update, ribuck. I was checking Zalmans webpage every hour to see if something new would pop up, now I don't have to do it anymore.

I have gotten used to workin on the 22" Zalman in non-stereo (2D) and most likely won't be sending the monitor back again (as I've done it with their 19" version), even if it should take them 2 more months to release the drivers for Vista.

I still have the iZ3D monitor which works wih Vista and GeForce 8800, so I can plug it in when I get desperate and want to see some depth in games before the Zalman drivers are out, but ghosting is really bad there, so it's not really an alternative IMO. Since I also can't get myself to using the iZ3D monitor for normal work because of its low contrast (1:600), the iZ3D monitor is mostly sitting at the back of my desk and collecting dust.

Knowing that nVidia has presented another screen using the same technique and was talking about *nVidia drivers* gives me a better feeling about this never-ending-story. Seing how photos look in stereo and how games could look like by using stapshots done with iZ3D drivers, I'm confident it will be worth waiting a while longer for the driver to come out.

For anyone who does NOT own the Zalman monitor, I'd recomment to wait with a purchase until the drivers are*'really* available (maybe even on the official nVidia drivers site), so you don't end up being frustrated for having a 3D monitor but not being able to use it because of missing drivers. Like I was and (obviously) ribuck is.

PS. After watching the video ribuck has posted, I have a feeling that Zalman is being delayed by nVidia and their plans to release their own 3D monitor, but that the new stereo drivers have been ready for release for some time already.

Regards,
Oruq

I have been interested in stereo for monitor-display for a long time and have looked into iZ3D and Zalman's offering. Are there other stereo monitors that I don't know about that you can recommend?
I have a particular interest in seeing stereo for 3D model-creation in apps such as Cinema 4D. I'm not a gamer. Do you know anything about this subject, or any threads or people you have heard of that I can contact that have the same goal?

[news tidbit: there's a little optical viewer called Pokescope for viewing stereo pairs on a monitor. You can find this by Googling.]

The new stereo driver will be available on 4th March starting with the 'cebit' fair in Hannover/Germany. It will be a Vista 32 driver (no XP!) provided by Nvidia supporting 8k cards as well. Check the Zalman webpage on 4th March!

greetings
Werner

Say bye bye to Warner's credibility. Not that I have a Zalman monitor, but giving out release dates based on 'seeing' a beta 4 driver in action is pretty much pointless.
