Do I need anything else to get it working? I'm hoping I just have to use the glasses that come with the TV?

Thanx 4 looking.

You will need to buy Nvidia 3DTV Play. It is software that outputs 3D for HDMI 1.4a TVs. Then you use the glasses that come with the TV.

Thanx 4 the replies.

I received a PM, the contents being:
I would avoid this one for 3D gaming. Although it is suppose to support checkerboard mode, mocca tested his passive LG and says it does not. Without CB mode, you are doomed to scaled low rez 1280x720 with it's ugly output. For 3D gaming, go with tried and true active shutters. Everyone who uses an HDTV for gaming goes with samsung because it supports native resolution CB. Some samsungs supports CB, some don't so contact me if you need further details.
Hi,
yes we have reports of checkerboard allso having the color bug on lg's 2011 passive models.
link to post.

Now i still 3d game using iz3d and tridef, both are much better than 3dtvplay as they do 1080p 3d, fair enough its not true 1080p but it does look ahell of alot better than 3dtvplay.
Now if you was using 3dvision to output checkerboard you would be ok but as it is you can't with the lg passives so unless you wanted 3dtvplay then you will only be using 2 of the 3 stereoscopic softwares, and believe me 3dtvplay is really bad, so bad infact that if a game does'nt work with tridef/iz3d but works with 3dtvplay i'll just play the game in 2d mode instead, maybe 3dtvplay looks better on a 720p display, it sure looks terrible on a 1080p 47" screen!

Now i'd have to say if you want a lg and can do without 3dvsisions checkerboard then by all means get the lg, if i could turn back time knowing that these tv's didnt play checkerbard correctly i'd still of purchased it as it was a no brainer, 3d wiped the floor with the 2010 samsung 3dtv's.

I now have interlaced working over hdmi with no color bug, if this is true then it should allso be true that checkerboard DOES work with the lg passives and that there is a problem with our softwares, this could be true or it could be false, but to me having interlaced working is a huge step forward as we now know interlaced works over hdmi.

if you have never 3d gamed before then 3dtvplay should suffice, i gamed at 1080p 3d for about 6 month before 3dplay came out so it was like a massive jump backwards in quality as i'd been spiolt with a better resolution.

If i could turn back time i'd never of paid money for 3dtvplay, its basicly the worst 3d software in the world, what a joke nvidia are, just update 3dtvplay with sbs and 1080p ect, i do'nt ever advise anybody to buy 3dtvplay nowadays.

If you have to count on checkerboard with flatscreens then thats FLAT WRONG , FAIL SQUARED by a MILE or two.
You should buy LED / laser projectors like Vivitek Qumi for gaming instead of TV's and monitors because, as we all know:
- 60per eye vs 30 per eye can make all the difference in the world,& fullHD 60 per eye is highly unlikely, especially in surround
- plus 30% brightness can make all the difference in the world, when its utterly low to start with. Its easy to get +30% with PJ setup. With special screen , its even possible to get +1500% .
Thats Why, plus, WAF.
Say NO to rebadged , bloated display technologies! Say NO to the PR trainwreck !
-then there are tidbits , like DLP is RGB led now, flatscreens are crappy blue LED , we have curved screen with projectors, curved surround screens with anti glare, etc. etc.

The list is so long, I lost count long ago.

Skywalka,
Read mocca's post two or three times, he isn't exaggerating about how bad 3DTV Play is.
Ignore Tritosine's comment, he has never seen CB so he is in no position to tell people that it looks horrible.

Doesn't Tridef support Top/bottom 3D, which would give him half-resolution on a passive display?

I'd stay away from 3DTV Play unless it runs a game you play better or something, even then i'd consider 2D because of the resolution decrease.

46" Samsung ES7500 3DTV (checkerboard, high FOV as desktop monitor, highly recommend!) - Metro 2033 3D PNG screens - Metro LL filter realism mod - Flugan's Deus Ex:HR Depth changers - Nvidia tech support online form - Nvidia support: 1-800-797-6530
