So I just recently got 3D Vision and it hasn't left me disappointed. But one thing I've been looking forward to doing is replaying the Half-Life 2 series in 3D. Unfortunately though, while Episode 2 seems to work just fine, Half-Life and Episode 1 appear to be virtually unplayable, going as low as 5-12ish frames per second or in some cases reading as having decent framerate (50ish) but randomly stuttering to the point that it might as well be 10 FPS. Very confused as in the "favorite games in 3D thread" some people listed the Half-Life 2 games. Is there a fix to this or am I the only one experiencing these issues? Just in case anyone is wondering, the games play perfectly fine when 3D mode is disabled.
Setup:
i7 920 OC to 4GHz
nVidia GTX 580
12 GB RAM
Same issues on both a Mitsubishi DLP TV and a 120Hz Asus Monitor. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Also, for HL2, you will need to change the bracket texture to remove the crosshair completely.
Lord, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.

Thanks for the assistance guys. How do I change the bracket texture in HL2 though? And how am I supposed to play with no crosshair? /blarg.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':/' />

For what it's worth, only drivers 260.xx and later have the cursor problem with HL. 259.xx and earlier deliver 80-120 fps with Nvidia cursor on, so no need for the ctrl F12 trick.

You can use this console command instead of swapping out the texture:
hud_draw_fixed_reticle 0
An upcoming driver is supposed to fix the cursor, although playing with no crosshair is not so bad, makes the game a bit more challenging.

I'm suprised to hear this, i replayed half life 2 with iZ3D free driver + 5970 and red/cyan glasses and the depth was top notch, never had to change anything in the iZ3D driver. I think i'll install HL2 again and test with NVIDIA 3D Vision.

We have a performance fix coming in our next major driver releases for HL2 based games in 3D using the crosshair. You will be able to use the game's crosshair.
Erik Wolpaw: Valve definitely gets better delivering things - I know Portal 2 slipped - but generally on time. Valve still has this reputation of being a company that takes a long time to make games. We've shipped how many games in six years? A lot.
Eurogamer: You know why Valve has this reputation don't you? Because it's been so long since the last Half-Life game.
Chet Faliszek: What game?
Erik Wolpaw: Well, Portal takes place in the Half-Life universe, and also, we don't know what you're talking about.
Eurogamer: Do you get sick and tired of being asked about Half-Life?
Chet Faliszek: Never been asked it. You're the first one.
Erik Wolpaw: We'll have a think about it and then get back to you.
Chet Faliszek: Rudest interview ever. I'm out of here.
Erik Wolpaw: Actually, I'm just going to shoot a mail. Hey, somebody mentioned Half-Life. What is the deal with that thing? We're going to find out what's happening.
