Personally I dont really see how the 3MS to 2MS isnt a big deal. The only issue I have with my Samsung 2233RZ is that it ghosts. I would take the faster response any day. All these panels are TN anyways so brightness and backlight bleeding are going to be relatively the same. It really depends on what your use to.
I use a 30" Samsung 305T PVA monitor and love it. The Samusng 2233RZ IMO is way to bright for regular use and a bit too blue.

I will say a few things now about the alienware to debunk some rumors or rather to speak from my own experiences...
1) GHOSTING (not dual imaging... *as I think some call them the same thing*):
I have no ghosting at all. None in the slightest. In 3d and 2d. *on either my old pc or new pc*
2) DUAL IMAGE *(3d only, lenses not blocking out everything, etc.)*
I used this monitor on my old desktop a couple of days ago (AMD dual core 6000+ with an MSI 8800GTX). The dual imaging was kind of bad in bright areas, and I noticed the infamous strip on the top and bottom that so many other AW users have noticed... I was worried...
Use it on my new pc (i7-920, MSI 285GTX) and there are NO strips on the top and bottom, and the dual imagine is so incredibly hard to notice that I have to stop playing and try hard to find REALLY bright objects to notice it
This being said, I did test different games as my new HDD is not up to par yet... I can say that Far Cry 2 on my new system looks absolutely incredible, Ive seen dual imagine MAYBE 2wice on a lamp and a persons arm.
3) 2d gaming
AW kicks so much butt its ridiculous. The colors and extra brightness blow my OLD acer (22" 1680x1050) out of the water. Never had any color issues at all, and 120Hz is INCREDIBLE.
This being said, I do know people who cant tell a difference above 45fps, but unlike the common rumor that the human eye cant see over 60 or whatever, its totally not true. Some people can see in the hundreds, (I think) myself included, because with a recent comparison of Heroes of Newerth running at ~45 on my old pc and ~90 on my new pc, it is like night and day to me.
4) 3d gaming
Talked about above. Looks great with my new pc, only looked "meh" with old. This monitor has everything it takes to give a great 3d experience.
5) THE MONITOR ITSELF
Ummmm... light up touch buttons that light up with your about to touch them?? coolest thing ever! Plus the USB ports and the adjustable height... cant go wrong
6) CONCLUSION
I love the AW. I was with all those people who couldnt wait for the ACER (had it sell out as I was checking out my newegg basket... sad face) so I found the 10% off and got it bundled with the 3d vision for just over 600 (which is really only about 20 more than the acer).
I highly doubt the acer will beat this but we will all know Wed.

Your enthusiasm is appreciated, but if you don't see any ghosting at all on the Alienware then you aren't pushing it hard enough with tough s3d content or looking correctly. Try these s3d screenshots from Mirror's Edge for a stress test. Hopefully when you get the Acer you'll have a much better idea of what to look for.

Price: 449.99 (reg 499.99) vs 399.99 Winner = Acer
Contrast Ratio: 80K vs 80K Winner = Tie
Response time: 3ms vs 2ms Winner = Acer
Brightness: 400cd/m vs 300cd/m Winner = Alienware
Stand: Tilt/Swivel/Height vs Tilt/Swivel Winner = Alienware.
Something I see as the main problem for 3d Vision is ghosting and seeing as Acer has a 2ms response should def help, along with the review from 3d vision blog, you can see what kind of difference 3ms and 2 ms is.
Brightness shouldn't be a priority as when you wear the glasses you lose alot of brightness anyways.
The height adjustment is a nice feature to have and I would say the stand looks better than the Acer (though I do like the orange).
For me and the 50 dollars your saving I would go for the Acer.

Well here is a list of (most of the) games that I have played with no ghosting at all, and yes I push this system pretty hard... and yes I am definitely looking correctly.
Modern Warfare
Modern Warfare 2
Far Cry 2
Team Fortress 2
Counter Strike Source (one of the best looking ones too)
Heroes of Newerth
Dawn of War II
Call of Duty 2 (bad double imaging on old pc... have not tested on new)
Left 4 Dead 2
Given that these games play flawless for me in 3d, I would say Mirror's Edge is just an exception... but I have not played it in 3d since it's a terrible game anyways.
I tend to think that a lot of this has to do with video cards (and other hardware) considering the dramatic increase in 3d performance from my 8800 to my 285.
From my experience, the ghosting people would see is due to a misconfiguration or older hardware (i.e. vid cards, older 3d monitors, etc).

I think you two may have your wires crossed. I believe by ghosting in his review of the AW he means ghost images following animations cause the panel can’t change fast enough. This kind of ghosting shouldn’t really be present on anything with a REAL response below 5ms.
It seems to me you are referring to ghosting as the double image that you can see on the top few inches of the screen cause the screen refreshes down and the top part isn’t in sync with the glasses. He did say he saw this issue. See, I have had a few 3d buffs correct me and tell me that this shouldn’t be termed ghosting as ghosting really is another totally different issue, but most people still refer to it as such anyway.
My AW doesnt ghost either with its 3ms. Nor does my Acer g24 with 2ms. But something you must ask yourself as we know manufacturers advertisement specs on LCDs can often be shady. Obviously the 2ms and 3ms response time claims for the Alienware and the Acer are both calculated to consider response time compensation / overdrive technologies, technologies that significantly reduce grey transitions. This is where the whole 2ms grey to grey, g2g, or gtg measurement comes from. But what are the traditional response times on these monitors? By this I mean the measurement of going from perfect black to white to black.

Right, I was assuming he was referring to the double imaging that discussed in my initial review. I tried to differentiate the two clearly in my original AW review. Ghosting is definitely a non-issue with anything lower than 5ms from what I have seen so I agree.
It is important to notice that this "double imagine"* issue almost entirely disappeared with my new hardware set up. Especially the notable strips at the top and bottom.

I can’t say the double imaging got better from my previous setup as this is my first setup. But the double imaging on my AW2310 is easily ignored as it only is the top inch and a half and the bottom inch.
I noticed the double imaging on the top is more defined than on the bottom and it almost makes me want to flip the monitor over, but like I said its easily ignorable.
When I am playing RE5 and zombies are coming at me and I am shooting and running and its getting intense … the last thing I notice on the screen is the double image.

I need HMDs that can do Hi Definition. I'd gladly pay $1000.00 USD if I can get a HMD that can do 1080p. My wife may kill me but I'll die happily. No ghosting at all.

Ah yes, I was referring to the double images. Stereo extinction is the correct term. It's still quite present on the Alienware ... I'm looking for info on the Acer monitor when it comes.

I will prolly have my mind made up after 'gekko3558' gets his Acer next to the AW (Thnx alot for your posts, they are helping alot).
Then my only question would be: Would it be worth taking the AW2310 for 170 euro more (233 dollar) instead of just getting a Acer. (Cant seem to find a way to get a AW2310 shipped from USA, would save me 170 euro with getting it in my own country). Tobad AW2310 and Acer are same price but not where I live. I live in the Netherlands btw.

Even though the Acer is 1ms faster which should reduce ghosting people still agree AW2310 is the way to go.
who are these people? I haven't seen any direct comparison between the two, but current reviews of each suggest (to me) that overall Acer is the better solution (although not a problem free one).

I'm going to get the Acer as soon as I can.
But for day to day use I always switch to my 30".

But for day to day use I always switch to my 30".

-i personally think the guy with the huge review must have gotten a lemon or something, I havnt really had any of his issues
-OP asked "Or perhaps Alienware has better drivers for 3D vision(read this somewhere)"... it has no drivers... or at least none on the CD it came with and I have definitely never felt like I was missing some*

It seems that the comparison is this:
AW2310 VS GD235HZ/GD245HQ

When I am playing RE5 and zombies are coming at me and I am shooting and running and its getting intense … the last thing I notice on the screen is the double image.

seems like Dell.com is the only place to get the 2310.... no luck on the Acer just yet?
i wonder if the prices will shoot up once they sell a bunch in a short time-frame...

Ah yes, I was referring to the double images. Stereo extinction is the correct term. It's still quite present on the Alienware ... I'm looking for info on the Acer monitor when it comes.
