Is Dragon Age any good in 3d?
  2 / 2
I thought the 3D was great in Dragon Age, but the actual graphics sucked, the textures were super low resolution. I ended up downloading a high resolution texture pack, and it made everything look amazing! But....(theres always a catch)...it broke 3D, so I just ended up playing it in 2D. At first I was just gonna play in 2D for an hour or so, then the sun came up and I realized I had been playing it far longer than expected lol. In all reality I prefer 3D to graphics so I will be going back to the old textures soon.

I played all of Awakenings in 3D Vision, however I had to keep depth at a minimal setting of only ~20% (I normally like ~50% depth) otherwise the 2D cursor would totally miss the 3D objects making it impossible to accurately click on mobs, corpses or chests etc. Messing with convergence didn't help either. Overall its good at 20% but the 3D effects and depth obviously aren't going to be as good as other games that are perfect even with greater depth settings.

One interesting thing I found was that running in SLI actually removes the character portrait limitation rendering in 1 eye. When run in SLI the portraits render in both eyes correctly, which is certainly a bonus.

This was the first game I played in 3D and it is awesome. I have completed DA Origins and am now half way through DA Awakening. It took a couple days for my eyes to adjust to the 3D vision, but now I never want to play another game without it.

I was able to play this game at about 50% depth with the convergence turned way up.

To get rid of the double text and double mouse cursor you must turn the convergence up. The best way to do this is to set your depth to around 50%. Take off your 3D glasses so you can see the double images on your screen. Then hold down the increase convergence buttons until your character looks like one image (you can not just tap the convergence button it will do nothing) . That way he is in focus and the mouse cursor and text is around about the same convergence setting, which eliminates the double vision problem.

Just read this article, it explains how it all works and how you should set the depth and convergence to make things have a depth and a pop out effect. NVIDIA should really make everyone read it before they install S3D
