Sadly the new version of the fix crashes my game (with latest update) after about a minute in regardless of location.
Any ideas? Dying to play this in 3D
Any updates on this? Tried updating my drivers, reinstalling the fix, reinstalling the game but to no avail, as long as the fix is present the game crashes :(
edit:
can confirm that installing an earlier version (don't know the version number but downloaded around dec 12, archive size 2072kb) on the latest version of ELEX doesn't crash at all, but shaders are obviously broken.

Same here :(
Tried with newest drivers, crash after a minute. Uninstalled this 3D fix -- and no more crashes. Is there a previous version of the fix available? I am on GoG and could install older game.
Sadly it crashes all the time just walking around. I am only two minutes in the game, just found the first bow and arrows and killed tow rats. Would be such a pity to play this game in 2D...
I also noticed that with the 3D vision fix installed, there is a great amount of stuttering and lagging after the game loads. And then, just when everything is loaded and stuttering gone, after some seconds it crashes. This is true with 3D enabled and disabled (CTRL-T). No stuttering and no crash when uninsatlling 3d vision fix.
Some additional information: Win 10 1703 with KB4056891, GTX 980, driver 390.65 without Geforce Experience (crashed with 382.53 as well). 3D effects are great, I saw no broken shaders.

Wow. Is that so? I mean, I just played Divinity Original Sin 2 with the DOS2_3dmigoto_fix just fine. So you are saying it is game specific, not Windows specific, right?
Anyway, I will try the previous version now. Searched the Github repository before but did not see it...
Thx for the update, though!

You can try tweaking the [System] section of the d3dx.ini....Try "hook" method with some variant. There are some workaround command for a few stuff that may work.

Hi, back with some results -- if not helping, though :(
I reverted game to previous version 1.0.2846.0 CZ Fixes (two months old) and tried 3D fixes 1.3 and 1.2. Both worked 3D wise (no broken shaders from what I saw) but crashed after some seconds, so no improvement.
I then installed 3D fix 1.4, which broke shaders and crashed.
Next, I reverted to game version 1.0.294 CN, 3D fix 1.4 (i.e. most current versions). Shaders OK, game crashed.
I then tried the older 3D fix 1.2 again since I remembered that was the first I installed yesterday after I downloaded Elex, because I downloaded the fix some months ago already. Shaders were broken, but even after some minutes running around I had no crash. This matches with my yesterday experience because I did the first couple of minutes with the older 3D fix, and crashes only started after I updated to the new one.
So I tried to replace only the shader folder (deleted shader caches of course) with those of fix 1.4. Shaders were still broken, but still no crash.
Finally I replaced the d3dx.ini with the 1.4 one (so I had most current game version, most current shaders, most current ini, but 1.2 binaries). Shaders broken, game crashed.
Last test was most current game and fix versions, but 1.2 d3dx.ini. Game ran fine, but shaders were broken.
So what is the conclusion?
- Current game with current 3D fix crashes. 3D itself is fine.
- Old game with old 3D fix crashes. 3D is fine.
- Current game with old 3D fix runs fine. 3D itself is broken.
- Current game with current 3D fix but older d3dx.ini runs fine. 3D itself is broken.
So the problem seems to be the 1.4 d3dx.ini. I will try to narrow that down but I do not have the knowledge, I fear. Also, it may be that I was not long enough in the game to have a crash (though it always crashed very soon when it did).

Hi, only saw your comment just now. Do you have some tips what I could try to edit in the ini file?
Edit: I tried:
- hook=recommended --> immediate crash at startup
- hook=except_set_samplers --> crash after some seconds, as before.
Edit 2:
- hook=skip_dxgi_device --> crash after some seconds, as before.
Can you have more than one hook option?
Edit 3:
- allow_create_device=1 (was 2 before) and allow_platform_update=1 did no good either.

First you have to use one of this:
deferred_contexts
immediate_context
device
all
And then use this ones...for this one you can use more than 1
except_set_shader_resources
except_set_samplers
except_set_rasterizer_state
skip_dxgi_factory
skip_dxgi_device
except_set_samplers and skip_dxgi_factory may be good candidates.
For example:
hook=all except_set_samplers
"hook=recommended" is the only one you have to use alone, but you already try it.
Reading you other post... if some previous version of the fix works for you (same rig, same OS), also there is a chance that some shaders have some bad code, probably add in an updated version of the fix....especially Compute Shaders.

Those are my results so far...
Crash after some seconds:
no hook at all
hook=deferred_contexts
hook=deferred_contexts except_set_samplers
hook=deferred_contexts except_set_samplers skip_dxgi_factory
hook=deferred_contexts skip_dxgi_factory
hook=skip_dxgi_factory
hook=except_set_samplers
hook=recommended
hook=skip_dxgi_device
Crash immediately at startup before 3D kicks in:
hook=all
hook=all except_set_samplers
hook=device
hook=device except_set_samplers
Crash at startup after 3D kicks in (black screen for a second, then crash):
hook=immediate_context
hook=immediate_context except_set_samplers
I may do some more experiments, but honestly I think we are out of luck. At least if you do not have some ideas...
Edit: do I have to delete the shader cache folder between ini modifications?
Edit 2: I also tried
hook=except_set_shader_resources except_set_samplers except_set_rasterizer_state
skip_dxgi_factory skip_dxgi_device
(all options in one line), giving a crash after some seconds.
For your experiments there, the most important part for fixing crashes, especially related to Win10, is to check the dll versions. If the 1.2 version of the fix runs without crashing, that suggests there is a bug introduced in later versions of the dlls.
Look at the properties of the d3d11.dll that we ship with the fix for our version number. That will also tell you whether the dlls changed between fixes for the game.
If the older dlls work, use those, and then use the latest ShaderFixes and d3dx.ini file from the latest game fix.
The way to think about it is that the dlls are the OS interface we require, and the ShaderFixes and d3dx.ini are game specific.

Yes, this is what I tried first. But old 3D fix binaries (1.3 and 1.2) will crash with old game version, as well as new fix with new game. See my post six posts before this one ("Hi, back with some results -- if not helping, though")
Only thing that works is new game with old fix (but 3D broken). Same for new fix with new game, but old d3dx.ini.
My theory is that the new ini activates something that the game does not like.

I did that, and it crashed like before afte a few seconds.
Edit: I deleted all shader *.txt files, leaving only the .hlsl files. No difference in 3D display (looked OK), but also crashed after a few seconds. I then deleted everything in the shader fixes folder. At game start, it beeped five times but then the usual: 3D OK and crash after some seconds. What are those files in that folder good for, I am wondering?
Also, today came a game update to version 1.0.2955. I will try that now.

Edit 3: Just to verify I was not imagining things, I installed the old 1.3 fix again, and though 3D was broken, it did not crash.
