Yeah, I did - seems to fix everything but the MG36 red dot, which is my favorite medic weapon at the moment. :(
I haven't tried any of the user fixes, I don't feel confident changing 'things' like that, as I'm very inexperienced on the software side of things and I'm sure I'll break something [have had bad experiences in the past]. Frankly I don't really think it should be up to us anyway, we paid for the product in good faith as it was stated nVidia ready, a month later those words mean nothing.

For the mean time I suppose I'll just let the dust gather on my rather expensive 3D kit and obviously keep telling anyone that will listen how crap the whole situation is.

Thanks for trying to help though Chiz.. Appreciate it mate :).
Aw, man that's one of the biggest advantages of the PC! The ability to mod, fix and tweak things ourselves if others are too lazy/indifferent to fix it for us. Text file/INI tweaking is one of the easiest and most effective ways to tweak games and get to settings the developers might not have exposed for general public consumption. Similarly, using tools like nHancer or SLI Profile Tool are extremely powerful end-user tools that allow us to get the most out of our hardware without completely relying on Devs or Nvidia support. Obviously we expect them to support their hardware in a timely manner, but if there's a brand new game that doesn't support AA or SLI out of the box, we're not completely without recourse and left to despair while we wait for a solution.

I'm that way to a degree about end-user/community fixes where I hate relying on mods and such to get something working the way they should, but at some point you have to weigh how much a feature or fix is worth it to you. If a fix takes too much effort to fix all the problems (STALKER for example) I just don't bother with it. It sounds to me like this is a pretty big deal-breaker for you and the fix is REALLY simple. Seriously it might take you 2 minutes tops:

Just navigate to wherever you installed the game: %:\\Battlefield Bad Company 2\Dist\win32

Find Packages.mft and rename it to something else, like PackagesOLD.mft

Download the attachment from r3450n above, its a simple txt file so you can scan it for viruses etc but it should be fine. Unzip it to the same place as the previous folder where you found Packages.mft
That's it. If you open the file up, you'll see its just linking different maps to the proper assets, so if those links are broken or linking to 2D assets, the 3D effects are going to be broken. All this fix does is relink the different map packs to the original 3D assets. If for whatever reason you want to switch it back, just rename Packages.mft to PackagesMOD.mft and rename PackagesOLD.mft to Packages.mft

I can see where you're coming from Chiz.. But I definitely will break something if I try it [believe me I suck at this sort of thing], but with your step by steps I will ask my nerdy mate to come round and give me a hand with it.

Thanks again for your help mate, if only you worked for nVidia/DICE :).

We shouldn't have to do this kind of stuff. If this were console gaming, people would react as if it were a nuclear meltdown. Plain and simple, a 3D vision ready title, should NEVER have these kinds of issues. I am literally waiting to finish the game until they fix this. Why am I being punished for spending a little more (sorry, a lot more) for having 3D. A 3D vision title should mean that you will not ever have an issue, like this, because we have worked out a deal with the developer to prevent and test this. If you guys only knew how much I have invested time and money into this. It is quite frustrating!!!!!!!!!

sorry, just frustrated with 3D vision. I have been messing around with it since January. It looks great when it works but man is it way too much work to make that happen. /yucky.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':yucky:' /> :(
