Looking for a recommendation for shutter glasses What shutter glasses do you recommend?
I am looking to cheaply get a set of shutter glasses for my computer system... once nVidia releases the 8800 drivers >.< . Now, I have come down to 2 sets of glasses, the X3D and the eDimensional.

I have tested the eDimensional glasses on a 60 hertz TV in one of my classes at college and I noticed flickering, but the 3D was good. I haven't tested the X3D glasses, but they both look the same, but one is much cheaper than the other.

Also, if anyone has any other brands for around the same price as these, please let me know.

Oh, if anyone is interested, I found a steal for the X3D glasses here: http://www.jr.com/JRProductPage.process?Pr...X3D+PCGAMINGSYS

Zonica, is about the same except the dongle and the plug on the glasses are the same as the wireless IR reciever, I picked up the Razor 3D wireless theater for 2 off of e-bay last summer. DVD's look great on TV with their system, and the glasses also work on my ED setup. I got the Razor system for about $45.00, I got the Zonica glasses and dongle for about $13.00.

if you look around you can find some real cheap ones. You can even find the same so called ED ones for less than 1/2 the price.

have you ever used such glasses?
I find them they make eyes strain fast.

Your eyes are straining because of your monitor's low refresh rate. Turn down your resolution and turn up the refresh rate (to the recommended max only!). That will solve your problems. Also, if your games have the Unreal Engine it, use VSync to sync the game to your refresh to minimize artifacts in the game. Give that a try!

I have a pair of really cheap wired shutter glasses from Razor3D that do quite a good job.

http://www.razor3d.de/en/3d_pc.asp

I'm not sure if they'll also ship outside the european community, but it shouldn't hurt to ask them ... :)

Cheers,
Maggi

if Razor3D themselves would not deliver outside EC, you could also try to contact Cyberhaven, which is where I actually bought my glasses:

I have tried the Elsa Revelator, first glasses I bought back in 2000. I went through 3 of them, cause the quality wasn't that great. I then got a pair of ED Glasses and they are yet to fail me. Working great. I also have a wired pair that I hardly used that came bundled with an asus gfx card back in 1998. They also work, but are wired so I don't use them as much.

I have also tried my friend's glasses, don't know the brand, but they are quite large, white and very expensive, around $400 I think. But comparing ghosting and such between them, there is very very little in difference. So in terms of image quality compared between different glasses, there is little or no difference. But there was a huge difference in terms of build quality between the elsa revelator and the ed glasses.

I would definately recommand the wireless ED glasses. They are light, works well and they have not broken down yet after several years of usage.

I just did some research on the Ed glasses and I found that they only work on OpenGL games and that leaves me out of just about everything I have. Now, that is with the Ed drivers installed? Can Ed glasses work with DirectX Games? I mean, nVidia has the page-flipping for shutter glasses so I am assuming that the Ed driver doesn't need to be installed?

Thanks in advance.

The NVIDIA consumer stereo driver works on DX and OGL even the ED driver works on both, I think what you were reading was about the quadro drivers. I ran into that myself a few years ago. Programmers have been able to run their applications in stereo on both ATI and NVIDIA cards for years.

I bought a pair of those Zonica glasses (the wired ones, not the wireless) and they are not working for me.

I have an Nvidia 7800GS AGP on a newer pc. I have everything plugged in correctly. When Windows starts, the Zonica glasses start flickering sporadically. The left eyepiece flickers every once in a while and the right eyepiece flickers a little faster, but randomly. I'm running version 91.31 of the nvidia gpu driver and stereo driver. I have tried every setting for type of stereo glasses in the nvidia control panel.

Am I doing something wrong that I'm not seeing?

It might be the glasses. I bought the ED ones and they should be in by Thursday this week in preparation for the 8800 stereo driver coming out on Saturday or sometime after that...

I have tested the ED glasses watching a 3D DVD with the TV box that ED offers and it works great... except fot the 60htz refresh rate the TV had. Other than that, the ED glasses did what they were suppost to do!
