C2D 2.13 and 8800GT Good Enough? Hoping for experienced input
Hi Nvidia Community!

Well, I have been watching these forums for a while, and still hope to jump on the bandwagon one day. Barring a minor miracle, I will have to upgrade to Windows 7 from XP. This I know. But how about my system specs...

Currently I have the Intel 975XBX2 mobo with the C2D 6420 CPU at 2.13, 2 Gigs ddr2 800 memory, an EVGA 8800GT 512 mb card, and a WD 640 GB Black HD.

I should also mention I am fine gaming at say 1024 by 768, 1280 by 1024, and a personal favorite 1280 by 768; but don't need to be 1600 by 1200, or 1080 etc. So, what today are considered lower to mid resolutions.

The main game I want to use 3d for at this point is WoW. I am not currently worried about the latest and greatest games.

But would also like to try 1701 A.D., WarCraft III, Company of Heroes, Battle for Middle Earth II, ...

Also maybe a good hockey game and a good driving game, but it wouldn't have to be a pixel pusher so to speak. A good game a few years older is still a good game to me.

I have also heard good things about Tomb Raider Underworld, but don't know if that would be demanding.

Mainly as I started out saying, I am looking to be able to have a good experience with World of Warcraft. Does anyone know how I should fair? Has anyone tried this with similar specs that could give me some feedback? Currently, 2d, I can run with all settings High and Ultra right now with 60 fps +. Oh, and as far as WoW is concerned, I don't mind a performance dip in the busiest of areas. I tend to avoid them anyhow.

Again, it would be most helpful if anyone can contribute experienced insight who has run with similar equipment.

Thanks for any input, and my best to anyone who read this far,

If wow is all u really care about then u may be ok but anything more demanding and I think your system will choke. I say overclock your CPU, drop on 2 more gigs of ram, and at least a gtx260 for ok performance on real games.

Ok, how about this one then:

Windows 7
AMD 550 BE dual core at 3.1 ghz
4 gigs ddr3 @1600
EVGA 275 (just one for now)
150 GB Velociraptor
...to boot

Thanks to any helpful 3d fans for input here.

I have the following and game at 1024 X 768 due to the beamer res (would like to go to 1280 x 768)

Q8200
X 2 8800 GT’S (SLI)
MSI NVIDIA® nForce 780i SLI
4 GIG RAM
VISTA 64

I play all the new games , MW2, Batman AA, etc , with high frame rates, so SLI'ing x 2 8800GT's works excellently for me..... So your rig above will breeze it.
