Petition: Please allow mod support for VR Direct. [3DMIGOTO/HELIXMOD]
11 / 12
There's no point in stickying it because it's been dropped from their VR suite. The whole 3D Vision to VR conversion has been dropped. I'm pretty sure NVidia even went through a lot of this info and scrubbed mentions of this. Nvidia UK still has some of the old info up, but this initiative is dead and it's incredibly difficult to even find evidence it ever existed.
I believe that was called Direct Mode. And Direct Mode has not been dropped.
Latest Developer Drivers:
Fixes (over 356.04):
Updated driver support for GameWorks VR SDK, adding notebook support, VR SLI enhancements, and bug fixes.
VR SLI now compatible with NVIDIA Direct Mode (pre-Windows 10 only; Windows 10 support in progress)
Improved performance for VR SLI on Quadro GPUs
Many bug fixes for VR SLI and Direct Mode
Fixed a wait timeout error observed with the sample test app on the first present call

Heh, surprised to see this thread necroed, but actually I noticed ages back (February 2015) that a few new settings had appeared in the driver that I assumed would be used by VR Direct before NVidia went quiet on the matter - these settings are StereoVRConvergenceBias (0x708db8c6), StereoVRRefreshRateOverride (0x708db8c8) and StereoVRVsync (0x708db8c9). Thing is, StereoVRConvergenceBias is set in a number of profiles:
0x00001185 Batman: Arkham Origins
0x0000130b Devil May Cry 4
0x00001a24 Fable: The Lost Chapters
0x00001cdd Dirt 3
0x00002e6b Portal 2
0x0000377c Nvidia Stereo Test App
0x00003c0f Oil Rush
0x0000849d Serious Sam III
0x0000a1a7 Batman: Arkham City
0x0000cd04 Half-Life 2
I'd say that it is a good bet that they might have been using these internally to test VR Direct, but if it never got released - why did the profiles? Anyone played around with these?

What nvidia must understand is that if this happens, it is as much kit occulust rift for sale that there is +1 on this thread (or almost).

Do you happen to know which was the last version of the driver that still contained c:\windows\SysWOW64\nvwgf2um.dll (or nvd3dumx.dll)? That was the DLL that used to contain the names of all the stereo settings, so I'm not sure if they just moved that table somewhere else (I can't find it anywhere, but they could have compressed or encrypted it) or entirely removed it. I'm wondering if that new setting ID might be in it.

I've no idea. I'm on 362.00 and I do not see it in NVCP>System Information>Components
I do have a nvpcdi.inf that turned up in a search of my PC, it's for 358.87 and has the following and more as an entry
HKR,,UserModeDriverName,%REG_MULTI_SZ%,nvd3dumx.dll,nvwgf2umx.dll,nvwgf2umx.dll
HKR,,UserModeDriverNameWoW,%REG_MULTI_SZ%,nvd3dum.dll,nvwgf2um.dll,nvwgf2um.dll
Edit: I searched again and it shows up in C\Windows\System32\nvd3dumx.dll (W7 64) 362.00
Edit #2: I see this in a .rtf, I think it was from when I merged two drivers together or I hacked in NView
nvd3dum.dll NVIDIA Windows WDDM D3D driver 13/01/2014
nvd3dumx.dll NVIDIA Windows WDDM D3D driver 08/01/2014
So if you are on W10, maybe your not seeing it because of the WDDM version?
Edit#3: I have 375.57 in my downloads, I extracted the files and see nvwgf2um.dl_ nvwgf2umx.dl_ nvd3dum.dl_ nvd3dumx.dl_ listed in the display driver portion of the install folders
