3D Vision, Registry "monitorsize" Value, & Percieved Depth trying to work around Nvidia&

I may be misunderstanding you. You said you have to launch the game, then alt-tab to launch the script and then get back to the game, which is bad for certain games like oblivion.
I though that you could launch the script first, that will wait for the game to be running.

No I can launch the instantaneous script by pressing my extra "stop" function keyboard key that I assigned to running the script. I keep pressing that keyboard key right before, during, and after a game or tech demo launches. And it seems that while the registry value does change, the game must be launching at the exact millisecond that Nvidia changes the registry value back, then of course it probably goes back again to my value because of me hitting the script. I can't time running the script right it seems to make the game read it at the exact moment I need it to.

If I alt tab out of a game though, and back, the game seems to reread the registry script and at time, only my value is in there so the game reads my value when it comes back on from desktop.

Have you tried making the key read only for system and all?

As far as I know, you can't make a key read-only. Only the root folder it is in, but there are a bunch of other keys in there with it.

The point is that Nvidia should have already fixed this. Hopefully they will in the next patch.

Disabling and reenabling 3D vision in game does not load the updated registry key value.

Does 270.61 still not maintain the monitorsize info for you?

I think he would like to set the monitorsize value to what he wants rather than what the driver thinks is best for him based upon the display model. That kinda makes sense for a monitor, but a projector setup can be quite variable depending on the size of the room/distance from wall/size of wall to project on to. Letting us fiddle with this key would be great for the enthusiasts amongst us /wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />

Hi Andrew,

I did install the newest WHQL drivers, but the first few things I tried in 3D were giving me some new issues. Such as flickering shadows in NFS Shift, and dark artifacting on some surfaces in the Nvidia SunVillage demo. Out of the four 3D apps I tried after installing these new drivers, two didn't work right. I got fed up and installed the previous driver CD 1.45 and everything works fine again. I never checked to see if the monitorsize thing worked properly because I got turned off by the new issues that came up, and I didn't see any documentation from Nvidia stating they would let the user fix the monitorsize in the latest release.

What have the driver engineers at Nvidia said about letting us users set the monitorsize at via something like a slider (like or much older drivers allowed)?

You can go to regedit and change the permissions of the key so that nvidia can't change it. Problem is, you wont be able to save your convergence on the fly (pressing the save key combination will just give you a value for the convergence, printed at the bottom of the screen, rather than the typical "settings saved" message). You will have to set the convergence key manually.

Either way, it will stay at the right monitor size for good. I used to jack up the depth this way until I released that nvidia already had the maximum separation wider than my eyes lol

My poor eyes... hehe.
But when using a projector there is really a problem of low separation at 100% because 3D vision assumes a very large screen.
