Metro 2033 on sale on Steam for $10
Its great in 3D, one of my favorite games, in 2D. The artists used a heavy amount of actual geometry, rather than creating the illusion of it with textures or bump maps. In one tunnel, there are like 50 heavy gauge wires running along each side, along with all the other detail. It also support tessellation, which rounds out geometry and is the first game [i read] that has global illumination, a feature that has normally been reserved for high end rendering software used for making hollywood special effects.

Thanks for posting that. A bit more expensive here (10 euros instead of $) but worth it anyway.

This is the first game I found with the convergence setting locked. I honestly wonder what the use of that is. Perhaps the postprocess effects are adjusted for 3D with a specific convergence?
Can it be unlocked somehow anyway?

This game is rated 3dVision ready so there is no tweaking needed.
One of the best 3d looking game, btw.

Is not that I really need to change it. It's very well suited for a desktop display setup. But, what if you use a big projection screen and sit 2 meters away. You'll have to change convergence to suit that very much larger distance.

It's just that I don't understand all this capping here and there. What's so wrong about having options just in case they are needed? I see a trend lately to turn PC's into just another dumb electronic appliance.

Agree %100. Metro 2033 in particular, locked everything down. No modding support, no individual choices for a large number of graphical options.
