War Thunder 3D Fix..

Well I was checking things in the tank and I was looking through my Binoculars and I decided we needed a hot ket to change the settings as they where a bit off.. So know we can set a convergence level for Bino's and one for ingame setting.. I had it where Bino's where at 3.0 and ingame was 12.0.. Looked really good like that.. the tank apsect is really cool now that I looked at it az bit,,

Well I went through every setting in the config.blk file and nothing in there made the veil go away.. At One point I thought I had gotten it but maybe I was looking at it wrong.. I am not sure but I spent a few hours with this and I don't thing the fix is there.. Altho I did find out about every setting they use and a lot of them are hidden within the config.blk file..

The config file mainly stores all the in game settings. I used it a couple of years ago or even longer to force the game into dx9ex which worked well for 3D but even that ended up broken. I made a big step forward this morning as one of the things I've mentioned for a while was the screwed up horizon. The hacksaw of land that rose up into the sky when banking. For me that was a show stopper bigger than the clouds as I've been using z,x,c keys to switch settings for a while. But at any setting there was no getting rid of it. I finally pinned it down to shader fix 06fd924bc888fa9b as the cause. I now have a tank battle tested game of War Thunder thanks to you guys. I still have to test the Air section in actual combat but I'm pretty confident that at low separation settings it is playable. The settings I use are: ; Hotkey 'tank sight' - Keypress is Minus on the numpad. [Key1] Key = - type = toggle y = 0.9 ; Tank [Keytank] Key = z separation = 62 convergence = 7.3 ; cockpit aircraft and main menu, tank binoculars [Keycockpit] Key = x separation = 6 convergence = 2.5 ; aircraft external [Keyext] Key = c separation = 3 convergence = 230 It might be of use to send my shader fix bundle and I stress again that I have not and indeed could not change any of the coding. I just mixed and matched to get a working set of options. Let me know if it is of any use to you as I know you have your own mix. The pic is of the hacksaw ridge problem prior to fixing.

" I finally pinned it down to shader fix 06fd924bc888fa9b as the cause." Ok, I come back to the game after an hour and hacksawridge is back. I also take out shader fix fc63e7daa5dc1992. Now it is ok again. I am getting there. Noticed a few glitches during online play. The worst of which is the grass texture flashing it took me ages before I noticed this also happens in 2D so I assume it is a game and/or driver bug. The smoke trails from shell and tracer rounds is one eye only. The capture point marker is ok until the point it is being captured then it splits. This must be very close to the fix before capture that renders it in 3D. So shouldn't be too hard - perhaps. The shaderfixes for carrier crew don't work. Check take-off from British Carrier. I was wondering why they were waving for me to slow down on take-off. On closer inspection it was guys lying on their back waving with their legs from the Carrier's Bridge. :) When posting this fix it should be mentioned that Gaijin take a dim view of changes to their game. They have banned user accounts for using Sweetfx. They would probably become apopleptic if they come across this fix. I've got nothing to lose as the game is pointless to me if 3D is broken. Nevertheless, I'm using a test account at the moment till I see the lay of the land. I suspect they are more interested in finding people who use changes to gain an advantage. But banned for using Sweetfx? Nuts.

Well Flowbee I just heard back from Bo3b he said the shadow veil can not be fixed with 3D Migoto.. but you said you can reduce it with a convergence setting?? What about the clouds did you get that halo effect fixed or a workaround?? I will wait till I hear from you to release a final fix for this game.. Seems as the developers are not gonna help us we should just leave it alone..

Yeah, for this one it would be worth trying the fake-3D of SuperDepth, or force NVidia version as seen in stickys in the forum. Might work pretty well, because this game doesn't really need any pop-out effect. It would give you full performance and the ability to play at higher settings. Depends on how you like to play. I'm more than willing to kill different effects to play in geometric-3D, but this one has that gnarly one-eye shadow problem.

First off I would like to thank everyone who got involved in fixing this game to the level where now it is playable once again after I shelved it with insurmountable 3D issues about a year ago. The tank section is now almost perfect with only 3 outstanding glitches which are not show stoppers by any means. And best of all playable with large separation settings. The aircraft section is now also playable at lower, indeed very low separation settings, but by using convergence to create the 3D effect. I have tested the game through from testing vehicles all the way through to the online battles and missions and all the problems bar the one eye only tracer smoke trails are solved by this approach. The halo effect can be solved as can many others by turning separation down to 1 and using convergence only. However as there are too many issues when flying with separation I get better results by using the original skies and clouds and then using the settings I posted earlier. All in all I use z,x,c keys for preset sep/con settings and then use minus key for gun sight and even a further key for a nice menu screen which tends to look very poor with shadows turned off. Is using convergence the same as fake 3D Super Depth? I know that compatibility mode 3D does not work well for this game having tried that as one option during my search for a solution. Finally it seems a shame not to share a 'best edit version' of the game fix with fellow 3D enthusiasts but I can understand how the developers attitude has a bearing on that decision. If you do reconsider this I would be happy to share my version of the fix as a possible candidate. I pop onto this forum on a daily basis so I won't be hard to find.

I am having issues with not being able to set the depth of the UI in the main menu.. now this is why I thought the developers might be doing something funny.. Not sure to why the minus hot key is not working anymore I would like to know does it work for anyone else??

I changed my .ini file to use the minus key as a toggle for the tank gun sight which works fine. Send me your .ini file and I will test it out for you. Just rename any file you send as .png and tell me the true extension. At the risk of being ridiculous I take it you have already checked the contents of your own .ini file for changes, duplicate key names etc. I also think that it is still very feasible to fix one of the tank issues as it is half fixed already by 4everAwake. Looking at what he changed should point the way to what remains to be done. It is a minor issue but also I hope a less complex fix. I haven't had time to look at the code but would expect the shaders to be very similar. I am sure you could fix this in the blink of an eye while for me it would be more of an engrossing project. :)

OK I got my minus key resolved for now.. Tell me what effect is bad on the tanks and I can have a look.. or if you have the ini file Put the code tags up and put it in here I will see what I can do to it.. just let me know what the effect is so I can go check it/..

Ok, I think I may have underestimated the problem (again). I thought there would be 2 pixel shaders involved but infact there is one pixel shader and a matching vertex shader. 4everAwake fixed one issue in the vertex shader but now there is no unfixed shader to compare to in order to find his coding solution. The two shaders involved are 6d5c44e2c34fc126-ps and 3fd34d7417570f67-vs. The vs file you already have from 4everAwake's fix. The ps file I have attached if you need it. If you need the unfixed vs file I would need to get it from another pc. (I may not have enough space on the other pc to install WT as I use it for vr video conversion - but not impossible to create space.) The picture(53) attached shows the problem. Point B has not been taken. It is a single stereo image. Point A is being taken. It looks like a double image one A is at good depth and one A is at screen depth but neither appears at the actual point A which is where the gun is pointing. The point is any non-taken or owned point is a stereo image. During change of ownership (capture) it is displayed as a double image. To see the effect live set up a custom battle with bots. See post #52. BTW - This is not a deal breaker just an oddity. On the plus side the one eye cliff shaders have gone. Might be coincidence but first time I've played this map with no funny shadows on the cliffs. This is big 67 separation after all. Only thing I did was disable FXAA. I will pay attention to this now.
