When the new xbox/ps comes out, I imagine they will be at least DX10 capable, so all our PC ports will also be.
The age of nvidia 3d is coming to an end.
Sorry for being a doomsayer, it's just how I see it.
... or the next Xbox could be pushing 3D and DirectX 11.1, which is going to have native S3D output. That could in turn push the Windows 8 and DirectX 11.1 combo on the PC side of things. I had to buy a new version of Windows to be able to use NVIDIA 3D Vision afterall. So next Xbox could mean even more 3D and all we'll have to do is upgrade to Windows 8 to use it natively ... which of course could be the end of ... oh no, you're right! AhhhHHHHHHH! :D

well as far as I understand it, dx 11.1 is supposed to offer native 3D support within the app. This would make Nvidia superfluous, any 3D monitor and glasses should work. Xp though is definitely dead for gaming with the new consoles which ever way you slice it.

Well, where I am coming from is unless the devs spend time on 3D for the nextbox we're just gonna end up with broken shaders all over the place, as seen in recent games like AC3 and Farcry 3s on DX11, and the current method used to fix them only works with DX9. Sony didn't bother to talk about 3D, I know the PS4 is capable but the perception amongst a lot of devs is there isn't enough ppl who care about 3D to do the work.
And lets face it nvidia is doing next to zero to promote 3D gaming atm, AMD seems to be doing slightly more but no where near enough. Both of these companies will be salivating over the increase in sales they will see when there are a whole lot less DX9 games released and the XP holdouts will have to upgrade.
