Well he was making that post in regards to the poor SLI performance with the game. I figured the 3D Vision part would be useful for people here to know.
yea except poor sli performance is directly linked to the 3d vision drivers. When I uninstall the drivers I get 60+ fps with my 480 sli setup. When drivers are installed im lucky to get 30.

That being said even with drivers uninstalled im still not using full gpu usage...but thats fine as long as frame rate is solid it keeps my temps down.

Thanks Arioch. Yes, I was mentioning it in the other thread because I did not want users to be upset when the new driver was made available that it did not improve their SLI performance.
if it fixes 3d vision drivers than it WILL improve sli performance....albeit indirectly.

The new 1.1 patch improved performance but most people are put off by the horrible indoor performance bug we are getting with 3D Vision. I think if that gets fixed the game will be playable for most people.

So, this week's driver will not fix the performance of the game. It only prevents 3dvision driver from screwing performance.

Okay so this driver being released this week will improved the 3d performance ?? Or fix the performance in 2d if you disable the 3d?

What i'm reading is :
3D vision specific performance issue (i.e. "the tavern fps abyss"): fixed.
Overall performance boost: next release.

I hope I'm right.

Could be wrong, but I think it's the 2nd.
Quoting manuelg "...will address the slow performance when a user enables 3D Vision (driver), even if the user has disabled it with this game..."
I think this week driver will only fix 3dvision driver glitch, without further changes.

I don't think you thought this through LOL!

The problem is when the 3D vision driver is installed, period.

If they fixed the performance when that driver is installed, then logic dictates that performance will be boosted in 3D as well - so the indoor low FPS issue with 3D Vision sounds like it's solved.

The game runs pretty quickly except in a few areas, so if it runs all the same now then I'm happy.

And looks like they added this to an official FAQ:

"A drop in performance with the game The Witcher 2 may be observed if the user has ever completed the NVIDIA 3D Vision Wizard, and persists even after disabling 3D Vision through the NVIDIA Control Panel. The apparent cause is that the game uses an incorrect API to check whether 3d stereo is activated with each frame. A workaround will be provided by NVIDIA through a future display driver update which will restore performance when 3D Vision is disabled. We are also working with The Witcher 2 game developers to resolve the root issue. Please check back for new driver release information."

And in the release notes for the driver:
"The Release 275 beta driver v275.27 can cause significant performance drop in The Witcher 2. This issue has been resolved in v275.33 drivers. Please read this FAQ for more information on this issue."
