Windows 7 Plug and Play Unable to get a clean driver install
Windows 7 won't let me disable plug and play even as an administrator. As such, when I uninstall the Nvidia driver and reboot, it places an old driver before I can install off the CD. This means I'm constantly installing over an old driver, and the disk never asks for a reboot or a continuance for install. I get frequent BSOD if I try and install the drivers separately, and considerable ghosting even when the glasses work. I have Windows 7 home premium so I'm not allowed to control where Windows searches for the driver. I don't want to go backwards to Vista in order to use these new toys. Can anyone help? Thanks!

I am using Windows 7 Ulitimate 64bit and have had no problems installing the driver I followed instructions and un-installed the driver I had before installing both the 3D vision and GPU driver.

Thanks for answering, regretfully PnP DOES install in Safe mode.
However, I located the generic files in the Windows/INF folder for Nvidia and removed them, then turned off Windows Update. Windows then installed a generic VGA driver and I was able to get a cleaner install. Thanks!
