Setting Monitor Size for Widescreen Is diagonal measure sufficient?
The monitor size in the nVidia stereo setup is used to calculate the maximum separation. I want to know if I should put a higher or lower monitor size to compensate for a widescreen.

I know these driver guys are smart, but have they accounted for widescreen monitors? In this case, using the diagonal without accounting for aspect ratio would give incorrect results. On the other hand, maybe it uses the display resolution to get the aspect ratio?

Does anyone know how the maximum divergence is calculated, and if I need to change my monitor size setting to compensate?

With 78.01, I definitely do have to use a different monitor size setting for different aspect ratios for my 24" 16:10 CRT widescreen monitor to achieve maximum separation.

For games running 1280x800 (widescreen), I set the "Monitor Size" in Stereo Setup & Test to the actual monitor size. (Actually I set it to 23" but that is another issue. Basically I have a big head /haha.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':haha:' /> )

For games running 1024x778 (normal 1.33 aspect), I set the "Monitor Size" much lower to get the same 3D separation as in 16:10 aspect. (I suggest starting at 21.5" for a monitor like mine, nevertheless in my particular case I use 19")

Whatever your actual settings are, the point is that the aspect ratio does change the "Monitor Size" setting necessary for maximum separation. I have heard that later driver versions fix this, but I haven't tried them since so many people have had problems with these newer drivers.
