After seeing Panasonic 3D demo at Best Buy I am unimpressed with 3D Vision
2 / 2
The Panasonic is indeed nice, but as mentioned already, for $3,000 I would expect it to be nicer than 3d Vision -- and all things considered, I think 3d Vision (at $200 + monitor) stands as a brilliant solution that is accessible to thousands more people than can shell out $3,000 for a 3d TV. Also, bear in mind that the demo Blu-Ray you're seeing at BestBuy was specifically designed to showcase the 3d system and is a media we don't even have access to yet, so there's no telling how it stacks up against 3d Vision's handling of the same media.
Anyway, yeah, the Panasonic solution probably is higher quality....if you have $3K to blow. ;)

you are correct, I asked as well and they will not be for sale till early spring so it should be soon. As soon as they go on sale Power DVD 10 Ultra 3D will be updated

I got a chance to see the Samsung 55" LCD display yesterday.
Much brighter than any 3d vision monitor I've used. Characteristics overall were superior to anything I've seen yet.
Somehow handles black/white ghosting well. Significant ghosting was seen in a fish tank scene with colored fish on a blue aquarium background swimming about.
Overall, not too bad, but the Panasonic plasmas are getting much better reviews in direct comparisons. I will likely buy one of those soon.

Interestingly what german computer magazin c't had to state when doing a test run on Sammy's 7series was that the brightness was much higher than on the 120Hz TFTs while they noticed subpar ghosting. This, in fact, is very interesting since ghosting should be way better on 240Hz displays.
Now, I do know that the initial topic was on Plasmas. However, I do feel that even with bettre S3D performance Plasma is the Brontosaurus of displays (in terms of power requirements) and Ice Age 3D is just around the bend. So IMHO this will be no more than a niche product.

I hope a brand new Panasonic is at least close to equal my 2 year old 61" LED DLP. I'm guessing the OP never saw that setup with 3D Vision or he might not think the Panasonic is so great.
And yes I saw the Panasonic demo trailer and didn't see anything that blew away my current setup.

DLP vs plasma? Independent of 3D, DLP wins on size and cost, plasma wins on everything else, especially contrast and viewing angles. We'll have to see if the plasmas can stack up to the instant switching times of the DLP's in 3d mode, tho.

I prefer the Nvidia glasses to the Panasonic because I find the Nvidia glasses much more comfortable. Was shocked to see this, and to say this but the ghosting was HORRIBLE !!!!!!!!!
Very translucent type ghosting, almost everywhere on the screen.
I don't know if the sales people didn't configure the T.V correctly but wowzers,
actually ridiculous when you consider the almost $4000 price tag.
Makes my $450 DLP projector look good ! LOL
