Dreamfall Chapters

Thank you for all your work, DarkStarSword. Developing the Unity scripts + manual fixes must have been of a very high difficulty level. I have been waiting for the last episode to be released and also until I had a new GPU (which will arrive on Friday next week or the next Monday), so this is good timing :p.
DarkStarSword - thanks for all your efforts involved in fixing this game multiple times... I waited until final chapter was released to begin playing this game. Unfortunately, the game crashes as Chapter One loads, after the intro videos have played (exception code:0xc000005). I am using 64-bit Windows 10, 980 Ti, 4k EDID mod, Steam, and the 06-20a fix.
Does it crash without the fix? You can try an older/different version of 3DMigoto and see if is still crashing... Somehow I doubt this is related to the fix/wrapper...

Thanks for the suggestion, helifax. However, the game works perfectly when the fix is removed. I am not sure where alternate/older versions of d3d9.dll exist (and if DX9Settings.ini must also change), sorry...

Sorry, DarkStarSword, but nothing seems to help. I removed both GameOverlayRenderer.dll and GameOverlayRenderer64.dll (launched Steam, removed .dll's, then launched game), and disabled EVGA Precision. I am not using any monitoring software or injectors.

you can try using the "injection" version of the dx9 helix wrapper Go to the "DLLInjection" folder: https://s3.amazonaws.com/-HeliX-/DLLS/DllsModPack1.zip All version of helix wrapper: http://wiki.bo3b.net/index.php?title=HelixMod_Feature_List#List_of_features_supported_by_HelixMod.2C_and_all_versions_available.

Yes, you probably need to use the dllinjection version. I have had the same occur to me for some games following a cinematic.

Thanks, DHR. The injector version does not crash my game, but the 3D does not look right (swapping eyes, changing convergence does not seem help). For example, 3D for the opening screen does not look the same as the d3d9.dll version (before crash). By the way, the game files verify correctly, and I always do clean driver install with DDU - currently using 368.22.

Are you running any overlays you may have forgotten about? Fraps, for example?

@whyme466 Probably the wrapper is not kicking in.....the injection version need to be open, don't close the screen. Maybe the 4K EDID is the problem....can you try the fix without the EDID if works.

DHR - the release d3d9.dll that you shared above has the same behavior as the release dll injector that you provided - it does NOT crash, but the 3D does not look right. Note that Dreamfall Chapters' d3d9.dll file size is slightly larger (768 KB vs 668 KB), and the Dreamfall Chapters' .dll provides good 3D for the opening/launch screen (before crashing), while none of the other .dlls even provide a good opening screen...

If you use the injector version you need to edit the DX9Settings.ini and add this immediately below the line that reads [General]:
DefModuleName = Dreamfall Chapters.exe
The injector DLL should also be named helixmod.dll, not d3d9.dll (and d3d9.dll should be removed from the game directory). As far as I can tell, it seems to be ok to use the regular version of the Helix Mod DLL by renaming it and using the launcher.

Thanks, DarkStarSword. Unfortunately, adding DefModuleName to DX9Settings.ini does not change any behavior. helixmod.dll injector does not crash, but the 3D is off (not fusable). The opening game screen has a number of god rays that do not appear in the d3d9.dll version, also (opening screen 3D immediately good, 3D fuses with Dreamfall Chapters d3d9.dll, but game crashes after intro video plays and 3D game loads).
