I am pretty new to all this 3d stuff. I have been playing some newer games in 3d [cod4, tr:underworld, fear 2] for about a month now and I've enjoyed the 3d experience, but some times I feel my crt monitor is holding me back. I've had eyestrain, ghosting, problems with certain games [burnout and others] and can only play @ max res. of 1024/768. I have a really nice LG Flatron, but I've heard from others that playing on projectors is the best experience for gaming in 3d. So, I did a quick search on craigslist for projectors and they cost maybe $450+ and I dont want to drop that much without knowing more about them.

Questions:
1. Why a projector over a crt/hd tv/dlp tv?
--------[Is it worth the upgrade over my crt?]
2. Which projectors are the best bang for the buck.
3. What do I need in order to set up a projector for gaming?
--------[Do I need any extra hardware?]
4. How much do projector screens cost?
--------[Or can I just use a clean wall?]

Hi, I game with a DLP Projector and I like it better than a Smaller monitor. I havea 45" screen ;)
1. Bigger Screen Size Possible immersion Factor..DLP HDTV Better Rez but smaller screensize but hey 65" is no slouch..
a. Yes and NO with a Projecter you can ONLY use 1024 x 768 Rez unless you buy a Depth Q 720 P 3D Projector
b. http://www.3dmovielist.com/3dhdtvs.html
2. There are only Certain Projectors you can use for 3D Gaming list is here:
a. http://www.3dmovielist.com/projectors.html
3. Well you need a PC with a older CPU single core HT if Possible.. 6.. or 7.. series Vid Card.. 3D Glasses if you use the ED Wireless glasses this Gizmo:
a. http://www.3dflightsim.com/product/product.htm
4. Projector Screens Vary in cost from about $75USD to over 5 Grand USD.. I used a sheet of Smooth Wood like material like Glass Smooth and ScreenGoo. cost about 150 USD
now if you do NOT Like gaming in 1024x768 ona 22" Monitor I do NOT think you will like it on a 1024 x 768 Projector. Either get a HDTV or the DepthQ 720P 3D Projector but that will set you back 6Grand..
Any Question Please let me know as this is NOT a complete list just a few basics..

I'm assuming you are using the 3DVision system? Your choices are more limited with this system over the older technology, but the experience is better. It will cost a lot to get a Projector system that works with 3DVision. The only 2 affordable options are DLP HDTV's and 120Hz LCD monitors. Only drawback for LCD is there are only 2 that will work atm. It does help that they use 1680 x 1050 for the resolution. I use the Samsung and although it's great it could be much better with a larger screen. I cant' wait for them to get to about 26" in size, that will really help. Too bad I can't fit a DLP on my desk... Of course, if you aren't using 3DVision, well, you should be. ;)

I think that LCD is very nice and I think, it will be much better than the CTR monitor you are using. There will be no more eyestrain.
