End Of 3D Vision. What Driver Should I Use? What About The Future?

It doesn't matter if the 3d vision driver is removed. Does upgrading the driver makes the already installed 3d vision driver not work?

They're killing 3D vision coz according to NVIDIA statement to Engadget their "user base move to newer forms of immersive experiences such as Virtual Reality". Well, if you check NVIDIA forum VR sub forums they are all basically dead. Maybe a post after few weeks. The 3D Vision community however is so active and vibrant, with something getting updated by the hour, a WIP fix, a new 3dmigoto update, a new projector workaround etc etc. Can't believe NVIDIA could let 3D go just like that :(

Does anybody knows about the quad buffer directX support? Does 3Dvision is entirely removed or the 3Dvision quad buffer will still be available? I mean does despite the 3Dvision EOL, a native stereoscopic software or game (like Trine or PowerDVD) will still be able to use the nvidia quad-buffer for displays that use HDMI or display port frame packed 3d datas?

OK, thanks. :( so despite I'm going to buy a DLP 3D projector, I stay with my Vega64 for now.

I don't understand they're blocking 3D by checking version. The Windows 10 3D mode API is already enabled when using nvidia 3d vision. And yes, I think it can be used at least to play 3D movies and photos because if you don't install 3d vision drivers Windows 10 still detects your display is 3D and enable 3D automatically (for that reason when you use Netflix App at full screen Windows try to switch 3D on, but it fails and you have to move the mouse to top screen to show window title so full screen 3D does not switch on).

I don't understand the inner workings of the driver, but they're not setting a precedent. There have been examples in the past where they have removed/changed functionality and it's not been possible to work around the issues by mixing and matching the various component versions. Unfortunately that's the way it is so we need to seriously consider the future options. I'd love it if someone finds some kind of workaround and am happy to be proven wrong if that happens, but I think we need to find an alternative (i.e. custom developed) solution now.

Use your mirror, Lou, it will probably work better. Now if you've got a business case for how they can make money with the technology over putting more developers into VR, maybe you could get a positive response.

The very powerful and the very stupid have one thing in common. Instead of altering their views to fit the facts, they alter the facts to fit their views ... which can be very uncomfortable if you happen to be one of the facts that needs altering.
