Just an update. I posted in their forums a question about 3DVision. On their forums, posts get moderated before they will appear. Despite my post count going up, it never appeared so I won't hold my breath for 3DVision support.
Edit: well it seems my post count is now high enough (3) that my posts don't require pre approval so I have now successfully posed the question on their forums :D
OR and 3DV support are completely different beasts. One does not mean the other.
Since I know you're one of the guys who work on fixes, can you give me the dummies version as to why this isn't true. Aren't broken shaders and 2D cursors universal enemies to 3D? And if you have to address for one form, all forms benefit? What prevents that from being true?

Not sure where you got that from, but I don't work on fixes. Wish I had the skills :)
I do have a fair bit of (user) experience with both 3dv and the rift, and I can confirm that they do things differently for 3d. Games that work on the rift don't necessarily work in 3dv, and vice versa.

Interesting. I knew, obviously, that a game that works in 3D Vision was no guarantee to work with Rift, but I figured the opposite would be true. Any game that didn't have issues with 3D on Rift, would have all their 3D issues solved for other formats.

My understanding is that 3d vision uses a special nVidia API to automatically "stereoify" shaders. This is done in-engine for the rift, I believe. So what works for one doesn't really affect the other.
Disclaimer: I'm not an expert, I could be way off the mark on this.

It's like an internet meme. I'd like to try it, but I'm not paying 75 dollars for a game that's supposed to be selling for 50 dollars. And if it's 75 dollars because it include 'real money ships' or some stuff, why is it a 50 dollar retail game to begin with?
Here's some write up I just did with my Oculus Rift DK2 impressions:

I'm not really sure what I make of it yet. But I definitely get how it's the future of gaming.

Awesome! I still attribute the shock value of Rift to the fact that none of these people have experienced proper 3D before. As we've experienced, it's absolutely incredible when done right.
I'll put the 3D Vision Dead Space 3 Helix experience on a projector up against Elite any day. Flying in space in the orbiting junk field was mind blowing. I spent hours just cruising around.
The screen shots in 3D Vision for Elite look like the planet and asteroid field are a flat plane at max depth. Does it look correct on Rift?

Bo3b,
Was about to say exactly what you said, before I saw your post.
I've never tried the Rift, but I would bet the excitement comes from not having experienced Nvidia's proper 3D Vision (depth + convergence, and the almost mandatory community patches).
And that's the saddest thing to say. And the single reason why guys like you and Mike "waste" your time fixing the games instead of playing them.
Can you imagine where 3D Vision would be now, if anybody had the chance (money + knowledge + Nvidia/dev support) to experience proper 3D these past 10 years, and shouting up their experiences on the net ...
