well now I am playing with the crt showing as the display type with no problems. And Holy Supersampling Batman, everything looks much better when using dsr 4k. Just slightly bummed out that the picture is a little blurry at 1080p resolutions, but I should have expected that.
Everything still looks blurry after using the focus ring on the projector lens?

ya, but I am talking about no supersampling, the focus is good as I can get it. I am just used to native 4k and 1440p. But this projector looks sharp enough when supersampled. I was just hoping that running 1080p would be good enough but for me, but I need to go up to about 1440p to 4k for some games. I really dig this projector so far. I just need to find the sweet spot for contrast and brightness, its a little dim looking in 3d. I wonder if I got the wrong screen. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00I4WSJF4/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
edit: Nevermind, the picture is not dim, I just needed to have my room darker. And the brightness is sufficient.

Just an update, I sometimes get the display comming up as a crt display and sometimes shows as Optoma , when it shows crt, everything works great, but the optoma EDID I think is not working right, it shows 3d and everything but it appears to be 24hz in games. I think restarted pc and playing around with resyncing can get it to detect as crt, but it is annoying.

Weird, I haven't encountered that problem yet on my end. Might be the different EDID setups.

My assumption is that he is unplugging the video cable and then re-plugging it into a different output on the GPU.
Or he has a device in the chain. Like an AVR, repeater, switcher, splitter
That is an issue. The EDID override will ony pertain to the output that it was installed on "and" the EDID it is receiving to be overridden.
Also the projector has two different inputs, that are different, with different EDIDs for each, due to the capabilities offered on each. One has a limited bandwidth and is HDMI 1.4, the other has HDMI 2.0 bandwidth.
This is in your owner's manual.

It is never good to use digital keystone.
If you have to use it, place the projector in a place that minimizes the level of keystone correction required

There used to be an article that explained it very well, this was the only link I could find that shows the distortion caused.

Well I think this projector will replace my 4koled tv, this thing is just amazing. My problems earlier were because of vsync being on in nvcp and off in game, which I normally have it set it to on my other displays. But the projector wants it to be set on in game for some reason or else It is hard to look at a game where you have to pan the camera , was killing my eyes. Played some battlefield 4 in only 1080 resolution and it was really sharp without supersampling or resolution scaling of any kind. Now I just need to get rid of the green ghosting, it will be perfect , Tanooki could you share your settings?

If you need digital correction. Buy a geobox, the pixel by pixel correction is pretty good , though nothing matched un corrected image,
But for example i use it all the time to do a curved screen fit. And the drop in sharpness is really low

Hey Gator. I've been meaning to experiment with changing the glasses timings slightly to get rid of the green ghosting problem. For now you could simply tinker with the green gain setting in the color settings. Couple that with lowering the contrast by a few ticks and you'll be good to go.

any luck with the timings? I just discovered the timings tool, I can try playing with it myself also. And damn it is nice to have no ghosting on this thing, however I did have to take green gain to -20 and contrast to -10 to make it go away about 99% gone. Even without , I could manage playing this with the green ghosting, but its so much nicer without it.

No luck on the timings yet. I think as far as input lag and resolution balance go though, this will be my main 3d display for the next few years. I sigh at the death of 3d vision before 4k, but alas, here we are.
