Is TriDef still compatible with 3D Vision Hardware?
2 / 4
I'm the OP here. The funny thing is that DDD used to work with my LG W2363D 120hz monitor, but now (after about 3 days of tweeking around with various configurations, settings etc.) it seems to no longer work.
I'm genuinely baffled by this. I even tried the same driver configuration as when it worked with the trial a few months ago. Unless we can figure this out, it might be a good idea to find some way to notify potential 3D Vision users that DDD is no longer compatible. Everything I had read (and tested) previous to my purchase pointed to the contrary.

xplo you have to enable 3d vision then go into tridef. If that doesn't work I dunno.

yup 3d vision enabled then launching tridef. The nvidia glasses switch on when i run a game with tridef ignition but the screen just show 2 image side by side instead of frame switching left/right. And i have put direct3d 120hz in tridef option.

have you tried enabling 3D then in tridef menu on numpad or via shortcut ?

Well, I've been doing quite a bit of research about this and I found something very odd.
I could find most of the older tridef drivers from various file-hosting sites, but curiously, one driver in particular was impossible (for my searching skills anyway) to find: TriDef-3D-4.3.5.rar
When I gave the trial a go a while back, I could get my setup (LG W2363D Nvidia 3D vision kit) to work with most games and now I can't get them to work with any driver I have tried. I would be willing to bet this TriDef-3D-4.3.5.rar driver was the version I used during my trial. Erasing it's availability from the internet is just another proprietary measure, I'm afraid.

It may not work since yours isnt listed but give it a shot.
If that doesn't work it may be because 4.3.5 was before.
Changes in 4.4
TriDef 3D Ignition
Improved NVIDIA 3D Vision interoperability
Try 4.4 and if that doesn't work that means you need to try any version after that.

You want to speak to nvidia about support for a third party company that does not directly support 3d vision with affiliations and support from amd.

That comment was not limited to this thread, but rather was intended to extend across the whole boards here. One instance among many is the BF3 3D Vision thread. Nobody knows what the hell is going on with the 3D in that game. We've asked for answers and got nothing because of non-disclosure agreements.

Are you guys still having success with this? Figured i would try the new 5.1 Tridefs so that i could use the virtual mode with a few troubled games, but once loaded up the tridef shortcut keys dont do anything and i get a 'title was not dx9/10/11' message upon exit of any game profile listed.

This worked for me as recently as the 5.0 release as of a few weeks ago. I wasn't impressed overall, there were a few games that definitely had better support than 3D Vision but the performance compared to 3D Vision is abysmal. There's also quite a few games that work great with 3D Vision that don't work at all or have terrible support with DDD.
If 3D Vision is roughly 1/2 the FPS you get in 2D, 3D with DDD is more like 1/4 or 1/3rd. SLI does technically "work" but it just works to mask the overall poor performance and heavy overhead of the DDD drivers.
Overall I'm hopeful that a new mod by Helix gives us similar functionality as DDD in problematic games. From what I've seen this mod, has the same ability to correct glaring 3D issues by suppressing problematic shaders and/or 2D screen elements like crosshairs, moving UI/HUD elements to fixed depths, and moving objects rendered at the incorrect depths to new depth values. The biggest benefit is there is virtually no performance overhead and all performance gains from SLI are still realized as it retains all the benefits of Nvidia's stereo service and NVAPI.

Thanks for the help, but I don't have a compatible monitor. I think I already tried 4.4, but I'll give it another go.
Thanks again!
