How do I watch youtube 3D using 3dtv play? explain it to me like I'm 5
Hi all, I'm hoping someone here can give me some step by step instructions on what I need to do to be able to watch 3D youtube videos on my system. I have a windows 8, 64 bit PC with a geforce GTC 680. I have bought and installed nvidia 3dtv play, and have the most recent drivers installed. The PC is connected to a viewsonic 3d projector: http://www.viewsonic.com/us/pjd7820hd.html and I'm using these glasses: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0085JBI6S When I run the setup wizard 3D is clearly working correctly, I see the correct right and left images, the checkerboard barcode thing has a box floating out, and I can see the game screenshot slideshow in 3d. I'm trying to figure out what I need to do to be able to watch 3D youtube videos in high definition and am lost. For example this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fivB9PTgOps I have the nvidia control panel set with the projector as primary, and the resolution set to 1080p 3d, but I've itereated through all the possible combinations of youtube 3D options and can not for the life of me get it to play in HD 3d. any suggestions?

I have bought and installed nvidia 3dtv play, and have the most recent drivers installed.

I'm trying to figure out what I need to do to be able to watch 3D youtube videos in high definition and am lost.

There are a couple of tricky aspects to YouTube 3D. First off, you have to use Firefox. No other browser works. Secondly you should go to the HTML 5 test page to see if you are ready. http://www.3dvisionlive.com/3dv-html5-detection Lastly, there are a couple of other glitches that happen that prevent it. Sometimes need to reinstall driver, sometimes need to set 3D to 'always' in the stereoscopic control panel. Start with those, and tell us what you see.

Also you probably need to select HTML5 on youtube's 3d viewing method after following B03B's directions. Some videos don't have the option. You can view SIDE BY SIDE without doing the steps above but you probably need to toggle it with your projector remote. Which is this... Youtube FULL WIDTH. Use remote. Toggle 3D MODE(?)[something similiar]. 3D viewing method(?)[something similiar]. Side by side. Set your display to 1280x 720 @ 60 hz in nvidia control panel it might work in 1080p but try that first.

Thanks for teh replies! I can get 3D to work using HTML5 and firefox, but most videos say that the HTML5 version isn't supported, and for those that do, they never allow the full HD resolutions. I tried the side x side thing when using the non-HTML5 options but could never find a way to get my projector to display it right. Here's a table from the projector user guide: I'm guessing I need to do something to the nvidia control panel settings to get it to pick one of the side by side options, but I'm not sure what. It seems like neither of the two shown in that control panel screenshot above worked.

If a video can't do html 5. its not your fault. Youtube sucks sometimes with processing videos with html 5. It takes a few tries sometimes [I have a lot of 3d videos] http://www.youtube.com/user/3DGAMINGMOVIES Side by side is done entirely with your display, it has nothing to do with with 3d vision. Might have missed my reply above. Side by side = your display HTML5 = 3d vision

Well, to even display 3D to the projector I had to buy and install 3DtV play, isn't that part of nvidia's 3dvision setup?

Kind of/sort of. 3D vision/tv play NEEDED for Gaming/Frame packed format [blu ray 3d]/html 5 SIDE BY SIDE is kind of a universal format. If your display supports it, which yours does. It needs nothing other then the media supports it [called SBS btw in case you run into acroynm]

Hmmm, then I must just need to figure out how to get the settings right so that it picks up youtube in SBS format.

generally you would be putting the youtube video into full screen with SBS and utilizing most likely the control for the projector to turn on that mode on it

That seems right. You probably just need SideBySide selected in YouTube, then set your projector to that mode. You probably can only do this in full screen YouTube playback, SBS doesn't make sense windowed here. (Also, you can use any browser if you are doing SBS. HTML5 only works in FireFox.)
