after installing the 285.79 beta driver i noticed a huge decrease in 3D performance. Went from 32fps solid to 24 - 26, very unimpressed by it.
MSI TFIII 570, 8GB DDR3, i5.
Yeah, just terrible. This is advertised as "3D Ready", but only gets a "good" rating when the profile recognizes it? The 3D does look pretty good.
BUT The performance is HORRENDOUS. Just pathetic. I was so looking forward to this game, and it's unplayable. I'm not be rocking a GTX 580, but I do have 2 1GB GTX 460's in SLI which allow me to play most other games, with high graphics settings, flawlessly (e.g. Crysis, Crysis 2, Deus Ex: HR, Metro 2033). Maybe this isn't a 3DVision issue. Maybe it's an SLI issue, but running it in 3D is what kills it for me.

Answer from Rockstar Support
The NVDIA Optimus system automatically gets profiles for individual games and this will allow it to automatically select the correct graphics processor. If this is not the case then the steps below will allow you to overwrite the selection process:
- Click ‘Start’ and open the ‘Control Panel’
- Open the ‘NVIDIA Control Panel’, select ‘Manage 3D Settings’ and then ‘Program Settings’
- In step 1 select the game in question, if necessary click ‘Add’ and browse to the games application to add it.
- In step 2 under ‘Select the preferred graphics processor for the program’ select ‘High performance NVIDIA processor’
If this does not work you will need to contact NVIDIA so they can work on a profile for this currently unsupported game.
Kind regards
Matt
Followed this steps earlier and still doesn't work. The thing is i am sick and tired of making this game work, i know tha you (nvidia) are making Rockstar's job because they failed to take account of Nvidia Gpu's. but i will really apreciate the help on solving this. thanks

No I didn't realize that. Thanks Andrew for pointing this out to me. It's beyond that, though, for me. It routinely drops down into the teens. Is this Nvidia's fault? I'm sure not. It just only seems to happen when I have 3D enabled. Hopefully there will be performance enhancing patches in the future, from both Rockstar and Nvidia.

Convergence is not locked.
On my machine, convergence is locked like in all other "3D Vision Ready" games. The thing is: On a huge home cinema screen the default convergence setting of every ready-to-play 3D game like Mafia 2, Crysis 2, Witcher 2, L.A. Noir and so on is unplayable. Everything is behind the already far away cinema screen and you're better off playing just in 2D. So if a game is labelled "3D Vision Ready" it's a clear indicator for me not to buy the game because of wrong fixed 3D settings.
I understand the fixed convergence setting is done by the game developer and you can't do anything about it. But wouldn't it be VERY NICE from NVidia to provide an offset to this value using the existing hot keys? Pretty PLEASE!
At the moment I survive using game hacks to adjust the convergence value set by the 3D game engine, which is possible in Crysis 2 and Witcher 2, but not in the other mentioned games.

It just only seems to happen when I have 3D enabled. Hopefully there will be performance enhancing patches in the future, from both Rockstar and Nvidia.
As far as performance goes, everyone here knows that performance is locked to 30fps in the game max, right? See story here http://www.gamefront.com/l-a-noire-pc-is-locked-at-30-fps/
No I didn't realize that. Thanks Andrew for pointing this out to me. It's beyond that, though, for me. It routinely drops down into the teens. Is this Nvidia's fault? I'm sure not. Hey, hey, hey, hey-now. Don't be mean; we don't have to be mean, cuz, remember, no matter where you go, there you are.

Did anyone found a hack for L.A. Noire so far?
