Flugan has decided he no longer wants a splash screen, we can probably leave it at that.
Intro splash screens/logos/videos at the start of games are annoying enough already, there's no need to add more.

If the people that actually made the game don't get a splash screen (except company logo), and their name in the credits post-game for about 10 seconds, then I don't think anyone else should. anyone.
I honestly don't feel bad not watching the credits of ANY production (although i do often sit through them), because it is an exchange of goods for money, (btw, one where they are trying to get every fucking penny out of my pockets and don't give two shits if i can't quite afford it right now either). Might they be interested in the credits regarding where i got the money from? The fixes are the fruits of completely other people's labor made available for you. However every aspect of this IS completely subjective obviously and if, for example, someone doesn't like 3D games all that much in the first place, they might resent the splash screens, and they might even damage the 3D experience in their eyes.

Actually I found the splash screen quite useful when I was testing those OpenGL games with your wrapper. It was a great indicator on whether the dll was hooked or not. You also have an option to turn if off in your ini file. Nothing wrong there.
The Flugan wrappers that have been open source for more than 6 months is finally available on GitHub for anyone to see.
Thanks Flugan, your skills have been much appreciated and you are obviously a generous person with sharing your knowledge along with all our esteemed shaderhackers.
When you look at the Helixmod blog and see the list of games to play in true 3D is truly staggering. What this shows is a massive combined effort.

Helifax's splash screen actually prevents me from launching games. The splash screen shows up, but the game never loads.
The only way I can play his fixes is to disable it.
It's just another potential point of failure, and completely unnecessary.
It's not a point of failure if it never fails.
Don't assume that it will fail out of the blue.
It is actually very stable. It works in every game where I have tried it and have a lot of games.
Don't confuse my splash screen with helifax splash screen!
This topic should not be about blaming helifax splash screen for causing crashes.
I have nothing to do with helifax's wrapper. I don't even know if it's on github.
Have you ever had Photoshop crash because of the splash screen?
Splash screen != crash.
Feel free to stay ignorant but try to make my splash screen crash a game and get back to me with your conclusion.
Anyway, it doesn't matter. Splash screens in general are unnecessary and annoying for users, there's no need to add one. You have agreed with this already.

Personal ego should stay away from the modding/hacking scene. People who want to thank and have gratitude to modders/hackers could always do it (saying thank you in the forum, here or on the blog, giving donations,...). For me, imposing a splash screen is only a matter of personal satisfaction to have his name somewhere, like a popstar...Sure it is satisfying, but is it the real purpose of all of this?
I'm an artist modder myself, a lot of people are using my creations (litteraly millions of people), and honestly I don't care if people don't know who I am. Anyway, they'll never really know me: on the internet I'm just "Laast", my digital self, IRL I'm someone else.
Sure, I'm pleased when some users say "Thanks Laast!" or give me some Paypal coins, but at the end, the best reward for me is just sharing something people are enjoying, and also the idea to have given my best into a project.
Once I've uploaded and shared my creation, it doesn't own me anymore. It is sometimes hard to admit, but I think this is the best definition of "sharing".
Of course, things are different when you sell something you've created, but that's not the point here.

I think it's very offensive to have all these threads from one guy.
Ya'll might be thinking certain people post more than others. But I'm one of those people who will only post in a thread if I find I can contribute in some way, shape or form. A lot of things are waaaay too technical for me to get involved in, but the best way I can contribute is by pointing things out that maybe someone else hasn't or give constructive feedback.
Flugan needs to keep his private shit private.
What's happening the last week or so of me checking the 3D Vision section is some guy bitching about the community not giving him credit and what not, then stating that he's got some kinda mental issue.
F---s sake man, all I wanna do is comment on some amazing fixes and have fun playing these games that the community have so gratefully spent time on to fix. Idc about your personal crap.
Makes coming to these very forums off putting and I'm sure I'm not the only person who feels this way.

Sadly, I've become resigned to accepting that with the change of the seasons will also come another round of Flugan spam. It's just inevitable. Due to his mental illnesses, there's no reasonining with him or making him understand why he's harmful and toxic to this community. When he becomes manic, he's all over the place (and put bluntly, extremely annoying), extremely selfish and self-motivated, but when he's in that state he simply can't control himself. That's compounded by the fact that he's autistic, possibly bordering on Asperger's, where he's completely oblivious to how others feel... specifically to how he makes other's feel with his nonsense.
The thing is, he comes here and starts spinning up some sort of hype train for his next big idea (which I'm entirely certain he's incapable of producing anything tangible), and somehow people here actually fall for it, and give him the attention he so craves (and large sums of $$$? Seriously, some of you are [s]fools with money to waste[/s] extremely generous individuals!), fueling him for more and more. Honestly, I've learned to just ignore him (he even PM'd me the other day and I just refuse to actually read it) and let him go away and wish everyone would do the same.
However, there are things he says and does which seriously put us into jeopardy. I almost entirely lost my shit on him the last time he came on here and was demanding $$$ for his work. That I didn't mind so much, he's done so countless times before and will continue to do so for the rest of our days. What REALLY pissed me off was he started calling out DarkStarSword's name and situation, saying he was in such dire straights and we all needed to start ponying up to both him and Flugan... so, basically just dragging DSS's name through the mud by proxy begging for him without his consent, which was all just a ruse to beg for more $$$ for himself. That I found completely deplorable. I had an extremely nasty response written up and ready to go, but I seriously had to calm myself and check my motivation for saying all of it, and in the end I decided it just wasn't my place to say what I wanted to. However, I was worried if I did not say something and have DSS feel like no one noticed and/or backed him up and have us lose him in the process. I was happy to see both his and bo3b's tactful, but place-putting responses to Flugan's antics, and even now I still see DSS showing nothing but class in his way of handling matters related to him. Bravo DSS, I could never contain myself the way you do. I also suffer from depression/mental health stuff, so I get the empathy angle, but DAMN do you ever go the extra mile.
Oh, and Flugan, yes I know you will read this and you will write up some intensely long response to this either here, or PM me. Save it. I will not read it, just like I don't read most of the stuff you say here (since it's really all the same. Assembler this, Project Flugan that, Chiri and Helix and bo3b this, mental illness that, give me $$$, blah blah blah). I know that reading some of this will hurt, and believe it or not I am somewhat sorry for that (was trying to not say anything, after all), but there are times I've wanted to say much worse and therefore is best that we communicate directly as little as possible. So, I've said it once long ago, just do us both a favour: Please don't talk to me!
