Yes that is normal:
- Compatibility mode is Stereo Reprojection (Single Stereo Pass) based on the DEPTH MAP.
- This is a post-process pass: It moves the pixels based on the information of the depth map. There is no actual double rendering. It is applied on the final image of the 2D image. As a result:
- The halos are there to mask the geometry from each eye perspective that isn't rendered (available), since only the 2D information is available!
With the proper depth and convergence, you will get the same depth and convergence results as in Geometry 3D.
Soon afterwards, you will forget about the halos ;) (Or not ^_^ depending on how susceptible you are).
But I did show my "hack" to 5 persons (that always said that CM mode was crap before) and they were actually impressed and told me, they completely and forgot about the halos and actually focused on the 3D game, except in menus, but with the proper key-shortcut, that got instantly fixed with a press :)
Now this is what my friends told me :) it's all subjective, like 3D is in general:)

I don't know why but I get triggerd when I see someone call CM fake 3D. I shouldn't but to me it seems unfair.
I put "fake" in quotes :p. I know it isn't fake like awful automatic conversion programs for videos or pictures. It's just the name I learned to say for too long.
Now, about the fix. It's getting a lot better. There are a few things that I have to fix yet, but I'd say it's playable now. I'll release a WIP... sometime this week. Maybe tomorrow, maybe in 2 or 3 days, I don't know. When I feel good about the fix.

Awesome stuff as always!!!
I am dying for a Geometry3D based Stereo in this game (I think I finished it like 4 time already, single monitor 2D, Surround 2D, 3D Surround + CM "Unleashed", Laptop + Battery Mode + CM (the place were actually CM doesn't kill your FPS and Battery). I can definitely do it 4 times over!!! )

lol, somehow I didn't see that option. I'll check it today.
Your vignette mod will have to be opt-in with a hotkey. I need to check constantly how untouched shaders look all the time in 2D and 3D, in case the minimum precision stuff is affecting a shader. At the moment, in the police station, the "show_original" key shows no difference in 2D, so everything is alright for the moment and the game doesn't miss the precision lines apparently.
Also, optional full depth compute shader reflections, instead of just surface depth.
10 hours until I can continue fixing it today, bleh.

Fov in the settings is regulated in small limits. From 68 to 88 degrees. I'd like to have 50-55 Fov.
I prefer the camera to be as close as possible to the character. This increases the effect of immersion and horror thanks to limited Fov.

Thank you! I have a question Helifax: I read in your sig that you have a GTX 2080 TI. Does it really work with 3D vision surround? I'm confused because on the official Nvidia/Geforce-site there is a connection-calculator where you can select your graphics card and then you get an info how/where you can connect the monitor-cables for Nvidia surround (2D) and 3D-vision surround (3D). But in the dropdown you can only select graphics cards up to Geforce 1080 Ti and Titan but no 20xx-Card. So I was not sure if it is supported...
I think your 2080Ti-card has 3 DP-ports. Do you have your 3D-monitors connected with this?
And does this mean that you can't for example use a Pimax VR-headset with this card in addition to the 3 monitors, because I think the Pimax also needs a DP-port but all 3 DP-ports would be already occupied with the triple-monitors, right?

That is correct. I am using 3 DP-to-DVI adaptors.
Yes the RTX cards work with 2D Surround and they work with 3D Surround like before.
The downside is the 3 adapters and few other software annoyances.
However, I still keep a min spec GTX 260 around (that supports 3D Vision and has a dvi port) to "arm my 3D monitors" in case the power goes down :)
(The adapters filter out some of the proprietary messaging sent by the GPU to the Monitor to tell it to engage LightBoost and switch to 3D mode. Once the monitors are 3D capable, I put them on DP adaptors.
The only gotcha now is not to remove their power cable or they lose this. (But you can safely press the power button on them)
This is not something particular to RTX, it can happen on any GPU if the 3D Vision 2 monitor is power-reset.

lol, somehow I didn't see that option.

I prefer the camera to be as close as possible to the character. This increases the effect of immersion and horror thanks to limited Fov.

Great news masterotaku! Can't wait to play this gem in proper 3D!!

Win 8.1 pro 64 bit, Gigabyte Z87X-D3H - i7-4770K@3.5 - 32 GB, 2x Geforce TITAN SLI (EVGA), 3x ASUS 3D-Vision-Monitors

I own the Aorus 2080ti it can be configured with 3 HMDI 2.0b and 1 DP port or 3 DP ports and 1 Hdmi port this is prefect for VR and my 3DTV.

Don't use volumetric lighting (screen depth).
Don't use anything other than 100% resolution scaling.
Don't use interlacing.
Don't use motion blur.
Don't use temporal AA.

No HUD toggle yet.
If the game turns 2D at the start (the screen that talks about saves), alt+tab out and in.
I was in the middle of fixing the rain and my time ran out for today. The rain drops in the air are still broken.
