The new Planar seems to be the best of the bunch.
There is a review of both that and the 27inch over on 3D Vision blog, he includes photographs to show ghosting.

Nice, I see that is what you use. Your gaming sessions must be very satisfying with a setup like that. Well, I need LCD coz I have limited space on my desktop environment. 27" would be about the max I could go. Maybe 30" but it would be a stretch.

I think its safe to say that tons of people are waiting for 27'' 3d monitors to come out, and for at least 9 months..... nothing but vaporware.
22'' is way too small, 24'' is too small, and 27'' is bang on.
Frankly, I am sick of waiting, and whoever releases first has my money. I'm not holding my breath, because I have waited a year now... Yep.
There has been much hearsay from ANUS, I mean ASUS, and now I hear that ACER is chiming in with some 27'' 3d vaporware of their own :p
Fingers crossed.

I only just 2 days ago purchased the nvidia 3d vision along with the samsung monitor, i understand what you guys are moaning about it does get kinda annoying. already considering a monitor upgrade after just 2 days.

Hear me out cause they is gonna sound strange. You can get an acer 5360(500-550 bux) and make a screen for it(a see through kind.) and put the projector one and a half feet behind it(guesstimate, use a calculator program). Your looking at a 27" screen. I had a crapty 3d 40" 3d 1080p. Now I have 720p 3d acer 5360, never been happier. Was half as much money. Have a 1080p optoma 2d projector and its got nothing on the acer 5360 when gaming in 3d. If I had to give up either my $900 optoma 1080 projector or 5360 $550 i'd give up the optoma.

Don't wait. You don't like your monitor return/sell it now. So what you lose 100-200 bux, you will be happy in long run. Its going to drop in price so much by time you get around to it.

That setup looks great, except one thing... Most people don't want to lose 6 feet of space behind their screen. That's VERY awkward, although I understand that it is probably a very good setup image-wise.

I have an acer h5360 at home which projects a 120" or so 3D image - 100% ghost free.
I am building a computer room upstairs so that I can play 3D games that require a mouse and after researching monitors I foudn that none were going to satisfy my need as they would all ghost to some extent.
I decided that the best bet would be a projector at relatively close distance that projected a small, 30" or so screen onto the wall directly in front of where I sit.
The screen, being so close would be extremely bright and offer a very bright and vivid picture.
the downside is that it would be limited to 720p - but to be honest, i dont find this an issue even on my 120" screen... and im a fussy git.

having the projector on the ceiling slightly behind your head would create an image that could be projected onto a wall or home made screen.
this would also allow flexibility to have larger, (but not stupidly large) screens in a bedroom or office and take up significantly less room than a standard monitor.
I plan on having a normal monitor on a mount that can be swung out of the way so I can project my 3D image onto the wall (plastered and painted white)
this way I can have a standard 2D monitor in front of me for office type stuff, then swing it out of the way and have a large 3D screen in front of me with a 2D screen at the side which I can have as an extended monitor...

Untrue. Projectors are typically much better at masking the fine-ness of pixels by "blurring" them together without actually making it blurry. That's like saying a projector like they use in schools is "blurry" just cuz it's projecting a 640x480 image on to a screen that's 72" diagonally.

There is no such thing as a 3d image with no ghosting. It is inherent in the technology. You may not notice it, the equipement may hide it (this is what i'm guessing by crushing the most problematic clours that create ghostin like cinemas do), but it will be there with current tech.

720p at 120" from any 'normal' viewing distances will have a soft appearance and there is a huge noticable difference when jumping up to 1080p at that size, once again assuming THX viewing distances or similar. Also a good projector will not do what you are saying, that is what cheap lense will do (or poor alignment in the case of lcd projectors). Please do not point a flaw of the very low end projectors and apply said flaw to all projectors. Also the pixels of the projectors they used at the uni and school I attended where clearly visible, they wern't blurry and where very defined, but also very obviously there. Once again i'm much more a fan of movies and games, and I also have more knowledge about movies etc. Games might hide the difference between 720p and 1080p more then the average movie, I haven't decided my opinion on that yet, nor do I now the general consencus of which.

The screen, being so close would be extremely bright and offer a very bright and vivid picture.
the downside is that it would be limited to 720p - but to be honest, i dont find this an issue even on my 120" screen... and im a fussy git.
I am building a computer room upstairs so that I can play 3D games that require a mouse and after researching monitors I foudn that none were going to satisfy my need as they would all ghost to some extent.
I decided that the best bet would be a projector at relatively close distance that projected a small, 30" or so screen onto the wall directly in front of where I sit.

having the projector on the ceiling slightly behind your head would create an image that could be projected onto a wall or home made screen.
this would also allow flexibility to have larger, (but not stupidly large) screens in a bedroom or office and take up significantly less room than a standard monitor.
You need glasses then. 720p on a 120" screen = blurry unless you sit at least 15' away from it.

Untrue. Projectors are typically much better at masking the fine-ness of pixels by "blurring" them together without actually making it blurry. That's like saying a projector like they use in schools is "blurry" just cuz it's projecting a 640x480 image on to a screen that's 72" diagonally.

I have an acer h5360 at home which projects a 120" or so 3D image - 100% ghost free.
