Nvidia 3d Vision Plasma Support Please Nvidia 3d Vision Plasma Support Please (Samsung pn50a450 3D P
Edit--> So as Nvidia was no help in response to any of my posts, or calls and provides the same stock answer of "list of supported displays" bs I humbly beg of anyone that can provide a qualified answer or first hand experience in DLP/Plamsa s3d to give a noob a hand here....

Are the 3d vision glasses compatible with my 3d Plasma (pn50a450)

I have been searching forums for days now and am almost ready to give up and go without. I currently have a functioning s3d rig using the Samsung Shutters and the 50" Samsung Plasma.

I understand, through s3d forums, that the control panel in the new driver set, once the usb dongle is connected, will allow an option for Generic DLP/Plasma....

My plasma (Samsung pn50a450) is, as far as I know, one of the few/only Plasma displays in the entire family of tvs that is "3d ready". This fact would lead one to believe (like iz3d and DDD is ) it would also be compatible with the Nvidia glasses using the checkerboard format or other method.....however the 120Hz discussions lighting up all the forums, retailer product descriptions, etc- coupled with the fact that this display is not listed as "supported" on the product description...nor are ANY PLASMA displays, is totally contradictory. So I ask.....

Please, please, please if anyone can answer this question..... I can't imagine anything better than Grid, from my cocpit, in s3d.
I don't need a true 60fps to each eye, or the new glasses to work just the driver support to get s3d for games iz3d doesn't support.

UPDATE:

NVIDIA PROVIDED NO RESPONSE SO I TOOK A CHANCE...

The pn50a450 (720p 50" Samsung 3D ready Plasma) works perfectly with a fullscreen native resolution of 1365 x 768 (= no black boarder and no need to wait for driver fix)..... guess buying a 720p paid off after all. What's more, with use of a miniDIN-3 splitter (I built my own) you can use your ssg1000 Samsung glasses and emitter at the same time with no interference.

its not that its 60 fps. It is that is 60 hz, the refresh of a NTSC screen standard PER EYE.. th fps dont matter. basically it double buffers the image per fps (2 screen shots per vertical blank. and syncs it with the emitter to supply the polarazation to the correct eye per image. If the input can accept 120 hz thru hdmi It will ultimately work in now and the near future.

Do you mean pn50a450 works well with the NVIDIA kit? What games did you try?

Hi there,

Sorry for the late response. We just posted a new Knowledge Base article on this today.

At this time, NVIDIA has not officially tested and released a driver that supports these displays. End users can test compatibility by browsing to NVIDIA Control Panel > Stereoscopic 3D > Set up stereoscopic 3D and selecting the “Generic 3D DLP HDTV” from the Stereoscopic 3D display type to toggle Samsung DLP and plasma support.

Do does this mean samsung plasma pn50A450 does work with these glasses?

it sounds like from what i am hearing is that the refresh of the plasma is only 60hz but the glasses reqire 120hz?

Does this plasma work because the HDMI input to the television supports 120hz input?

Hi

There are two ways to achieve 3D with 3D Vision right now:
1) The LCD supports 120 hz input, like the Samsung and ViewSonic 22" LCDs.
2) The display supports a checkerboard pattern 3D input, like the Samsung/Mitsubishi DLPs and the Samsung Plasmas. These dispalys take a 60 Hz input, but becuase of the nature of the checkerboard format, they can process and display it correctly. We havent validated the Samsung Plasmas yet, but they should work.

do the new B (not A) or second generation of these models also work? Cause it isnt advertised as a feature but on vairous forums people say the plug for 3d is still there, so what gives? Also what is a miniDIN-3 splitter and why would you need to make one? I cant make that sort of a thing nor have knowledge or time to learn so would it still be worth getting this tv for 80 bucks more or even 180 bucks more than competition plus paying later 200 bucks for the glasses?
