256 (3D Surround) Driver pushed back for Summer release.
2 / 4
i highly doubt that considering the fact consumers could actually act legally and win since they have a feature that doesnt work. for now all ppl can do is wait tho.
keep in mind 3d surround is announced as working WHEN the respective drivers are released which technically would deny any attempt at a legal action at this point (will deny it until its announced the feature is abandoned for some reason).

Considering the fact that there are live demonstrations of the 3D Vision Surround being done in different events you can't call it a vaporware, it seems that the drivers need a little bit more work to be performing good enough and performance for 3 displays with triple the number of pixels to calculate is an important thing to consider. However I'm not one of the people to go buy 3 monitors and wait for the driver to become available, I prefer to have the solution available and then go for the hardware that supports it... ;)

Haven't seen a projector demonstration, only with monitors. But I don't think that 2 monitors/projectors would be supported for the Surround, you'll have to use three.
3DTV Play and 3DSurround are quite different techs despite their 3D tie-in.
3DSurround should make its way out with the 256 driverset, which should be out within a few days as it finishes QA...
Do you have a recent update suggesting it will be out soon? ManuelG posted "2 weeks" last week but the website was later updated to say Summer 2010.

A while back i asked andrew this question on twitter. He told me two screens are supported.
I really hope this will be true. I've got two Acer H5360's waiting for the surround driver :)

Again, there's a difference in techs - getting the Blu-Ray-capable 3DTV Play is a joint Hollywood/Video effort, and the first version of its spec was just released. 3DSurround is what you're interested in, and is expected with the upcoming 256 driver release.
What you get off of TV and Blu-Rays - not gaming - is being delayed.
And as I've pointed out, we haven't even given ManuelG the benefit of the full 14 days that come in his guess as to it taking two weeks in the first place.
We have been reassured it's coming and have been told it's in QA before release.
QA.
Can you wait just that little bit of time? Even if it takes an extra few hours?

So the answer to my question is no, you don't have any new information on the 256 release. I'm very much aware, as I already stated, that last week ManuelG guessed 2 weeks. I'm also aware that since then nvidia has posted summer 2010 for 256 and 3D Vision Surround. I don't care about their third party 3D support.
And no I never suggested rushing qa. I merely want the features that were advertised for launch a month ago.

Stupidly I recently spent over £1600 and bought 3 x Acer 23.6" 3D widescreen LCDs, a pair of 3D steroscopic glasses and 2 x 470GTX cards and was anticipating the new 256 drivers to blow me away. I've always been an NVidia fan ever since my experience of ATI and their crazy pot luck driver support! However I am totally dismayed by NVidia in 2010, the latest 470GTX drivers don't have 3D Vision drivers with them, instead I need to use the 197.41 drivers and on that page is a link to the 3D Vision drivers???
2 x 470GTX SLI'd cards should be way better than 1 285GTX card and it's barely noticable. It all looks like a right mess, maybe the 256 drivers are the way forward but right now I'd say NVidia look a mess.
Professionally I work in high end 3D simulation and we use NVidia for our display system, we recently upgraded to have 2x 5600 Quadro cards in SLI, the difference is also barely noticable. I have friends who have SLI who have also told me that the difference is barely noticable. I'm starting to form the opinion that SLI is a gimmick designed to make us buy more cards!
Considering NVidia has shown demo's of their surround gaming (and 3D surround) and ATI have had working released drivers for months with this technology then why is NVidia holding back even a limited driver release of this technology?
I'm bitterly disappointed in NVidia I'm considering packing up everything I just bought and sending it back, it's not worth shelling out a small fortune on technology that doesn't exist/isn't ready and by the time NVidia do release the sacred 256 drivers the cards/monitors will probably be cheaper anyway. My experience of other software that promises the earth and isn't released with what they cliam, is that it either fails to achieve the target set, or falls short of expectation. For now I'm going to stick with my flawless 285GTX and single display. 3D makes me feel sick anyway, but the way NVidia are holding back like this makes me feel worse, clearly something isn't right with this tech otherwise we'd have had something.

keep in mind 3d surround is announced as working WHEN the respective drivers are released which technically would deny any attempt at a legal action at this point (will deny it until its announced the feature is abandoned for some reason).
edit: i was slow @ posting :(.

Don't forget guys, 2x 720p is still less pixels than 1 fullHD. Plus it'd be seamless between screens. *
How did they demo it with the ACER pj's, don't tell me there was no edge blending... That'd hurt , no ?

I don't suppose you can comment on future opengl gaming support could you?
I'd be most grateful for your reponse.
