I try not seeing it as 3d vision dying, There is a huge number of games I have not played yet in 3d. And I play FFXIV still and that game will hopefully go strong for a while even if I have to keep old drivers. I am not overly concerned.

Reading your enthusiastic post, I decided to upgrade my HD5360 to the Optoma HD29H (EU country), but unfortunately I can't get it to work and I can't figure out why it isn't working :(
For some reason, I can't get the Nvidia to recognize the projector as generic CRT in the Nvidia Contol Panel. When trying to enable 3D in the Nvidia, I only get the "3D TV Play" and the "HDMI checkerboard" options to select from, neither works.
I have a slight suspicion it is the HDMI cable that causes the problem. I bought the HDMI 2.0 cables that were recommended in the UHD40 thread https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/1079987/3d-vision/optoma-uhd-40-50-3d-vision-projector-1920x1080-120hz-/ to make sure to have good quality cables, but the funny thing is that none of the cables works with my 3D Vision ready monitor either. On the other hand, when I use my DVI cable on my monitor, 3D Vision works just fine. I even gave it a go to use my DVI cable with a DVI to HDMI adapter in order to plug it in the Optoma, but to no avail. Also, when using the HDMI cables, I can't select 120 Hz refresh rate in the "Change resolution" screen in the Nvidia Control Panel.
May I ask what cable you are using? Also, if anyone has a suggestion that may help, it would be most welcome because having the prospect of glorious 1080p 3D Vision and not getting it to work is most frustrating and disappointing!

Have you installed an EDID and followed the instructions mentioned a few pages back?

And with guys like me who likes to play a game twice or thrice I think its going to take a long time before I can say its dead. I'm still on games from 2013 working my way up. Making sure I get the absolute most out of every single game I fancy. I still get hooked on games like Age of Empires 3 in 3D. But the dawn of these new projectors and 3dV which became obsolete puts me in a dilemma. Cant afford this and VR. But want them both so badly right now.

Thanks. Yes, I did follow the steps from TanookiPhoenix at the beginning of this thread, including changing the EDID to OTM3032 with ToastyX's CRU.
Is there an easy way to insert pictures? I could show some screenshots.

I'm not sure off the top of my head which display is OTM3032, but if you're seeing 3tvplay then something is wrong with either the EDID or the display which the settings are being applied to.
The UHD40/50 is not 3dtv play compatible, it's only 3d frame sequential/generic CRT compatible. If the EDID is installed correctly then that's all you should be able to see in the Nvidia 3d control panel.
*edit* just read the first few posts. In any case, if you're using the UHD40 EDID or just using CRUX to edit the display name, you'll never get this working as long as the Nvidia control panel sees 3dtv play.
I'm sure the cables aren't the problem at this point in time. I think the key is getting the EDID working first.

HD29H_1080ti I had same problem , I installed the EDID for the UHD 40/50 and it works. Except I get problems using DSR resolutions for anything above 1920x1080 , sometimes it works, sometimes not. For example, I play final fantasy 14 a lot and in the settings it shows options to select the resolution and refresh rate to use, but it often does not show 120hz for the higher resolutions. Not sure if EDID related but it is annoying and not sure how to fix it.

Update on the refresh rate problem I was having, If you have the projector set to 3d mode before you turn 3d vision on , it seems to fix the DSR resolution problem. With this problem I could not get games that only ran at 60fps to run. Basically I had 3d turned on in NVCP and my 3d settings were on in the projector when I boot up my pc causing the issue.

Even if I delete all the profiles, except the UHD40/50 profile I imported, CRU autogenerates a OTM1727 profile and switches to that one.
Am I missing something?
I haven't tried point 7 from the UHD40/50 thread:
7. Optional: In the window "Display Properties" change the name from "Optoma UHD" to "Optoma 3D". This allows for better distinguishing between the two HDMI ports of the projector (otherwise both have the same name)
Again, no time at the moment, but I can try that tomorrow.
