nvidia to bundle 3d anaglyph glasses with all gpu's

I think this is a great idea. It will help bring the fact that nvidia HAS 3d technology to a lot of people who otherwise may not even be aware of it. Once they have the 3d drivers on their system and see a setting called "GeForce 3d Vision" they're going to go look that up and some portion of those are bound to decide to upgrade.

Good call by nvidia. I like it. /thumbup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

I agree. Even with anaglyph you still get a great feel of depth and hopefully it'll attracts more into stereogaming.

Yeah a very smart move IMO and it will surely lead to much bigger sales, as you said Chris It will help bring the fact that nvidia HAS 3d technology to a lot of people who otherwise may not even be aware of it.
Very good nVidia as soon everyone wants 3D Vision /thumbsup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

This is the future no doubt about it, playing in 2D after have tested this 3D tech is a never again!

Heres hoping that nVidia would start making their own games or atleast in cooporation with pc devs, heck isent that the TWIMB program allready heh. as i said many times nVidia pretty much owns the devs anyway everybody knows that.
But it would be damn nice with more Pc exclusives, 3D Vision and many great Pc exclusives = the death of the consoles :D

It totally is. I always tell people who ask me about it that it's kinda like the first time you watched HiDef TV -- you knew right then and there you were never going back. :)

This is exactly how I ended up getting my 3d kit. I got a pair of 3D glasses free with a film magazine. Inside it they mentioned left for dead in 3d. A few googles later I was playing in Anaglyph 3d but after a couple of days I wanted the real thing!

yeap it surely is and BTW this even blows away hidef vs SD by miles, theres no comparison as the gap is so BIG one cant even imagine in the wildest fantasis what all this means to gaming IMO.
So I would take this anyday over say having graffics like toy story in 2D. no way it's still plain flat and dull as 3D is perfection and something I cant live without now, same as you think I may guess Chris /thumbup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

But of course even better graffics cant hurt, will be nice to see what they can come up with DX11 if the damn consoles wont hold it back I hope so it's time for em all to die LOL!

Well, I don't know about "cant live without it", but the other day just out of curiosity I did try to play LOTRO for an hour or so in regular 2d mode and it totally felt like I was playing half a game. Once you've gone 3d you just don't want to go back. No buyer's remorse here. :D

p.s. since nvidia is going all-out in giving away anaglyph 3d glasses with every gpu, I wonder if we can maybe get the FAQ & stickies in this forum updated?? If they're trying to drive people to learn about the 3d Vision product it would be a good idea to put some support behind it.

Well I started playing the new Riddick game and as it's OpenGL no 3D for know, it just like that it feels like im playing half a game, so I said naah I have to hold out so nVidia come on with the openGL drivers :)
About the faq, +1 good call Chris it can only be a benefit /thumbup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

good news

so do you guess they'll bundle the 3d vision driver with every card with cheap glasses and they'll let you try the anaglyph mode ?

It surely would boost 3d vision sales...

Yeah, I would assume the 3d Vision driver will become a standard part of the full WHQL driver release, otherwise packaging anaglyph glasses with the graphics cards wouldn't be much use to anybody.

Good news for us -- no more week or two lag after the whql driver release before we can update ours! And the 3d Vision driver will be likely to be included in the beta drivers in between, so we may even be able to use those, too. :D

Educating the masses AND improving life for existing customers. Good move nvidia. /thumbup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Good move, could be done thousands years ago.

Next move could be to implement an aditional stereo chip in the graphics to help and have exactly the same fps in 2D and 3D mode (recent stereo games usually are played without enought frames per second).

Also could be great to force game creators to make a "3dStereo Ready to Play" sticker in games.

i guess it would be a rather big chip to calculate the second frustum matrix and do all the rendering :D
