Poor performance in Black Ops 3dvision performance
Hey,
Was trying to get some feedback on other peoples experiences in Black ops using 3dVision.
My system is:
Quad @ 2.40 Q6600
4 gb ram
windows 7 64bit
gtx 460 768mb
im playing with 1920 x 1080, auto textures, min bodycount, blinear filtering....without 3d i average around 40fps...with 3d (in open spaces) around 15-20pfs. No matter how high or low i go with the settings this doesn't change.
Wear as with the same res..medium settings metro 2033 runs like butter..even with heavy action on screen.....the same in half life 2.
Is my processor the problem?
Whats are other people getting? is the above normal?

The q6600 is a great processor, but the stock 2.4Ghz speed is really holding you back. You will see a tremendous improvement in gaming from bumping your core speed up to even a modest 3.2Ghz.
Your GPU's shaders are tied to your CPU speed, so this will even allow your fill rates from your GPU to increase.

I've got a similar system:
Q6600 2.4 but have it overclocked to 3.21 (easy to do and it runs very stable with huge benefits)
4 gigs of ram
GTX 470
Windows 7 64 Bit
I run it on my Acer 5360 Projector at 1280 x 720 resolution and all settings on high with shadows off (this created a huge improvement in performance)and I am getting in 3D:
BO Single Player
Pretty Consistent 25 - 35 FPS Average
CPU Usage - 65%
GPU Usage - 25%
BO Multiplayer
Very Inconsistent 30 - 60 FPS Average
CPU Usage - 50%
GPU Usage - 40%
The FPS isn't all that bad for 3D but its playing kind've stuttery. Without 3D, MP is fine. But SP without 3D performance is still lower than it should with a GTX 470. Maybe I am bottlenecking and it's my CPU but all other games run on full max settings, and in 3D, fine. I run Metro 2033 on High settings, DX10 and it runs smooth as silk. Seems to be that this game is not utilizing the GPU properly.

It's the game people! /w00twave.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':w00twave:' /> Black coc.. ops, is a terribly unoptimized console port. It runs bad on even the most powerful hardware. It needs multiple patches for all its bugs.
The game is still fun... when it runs right. Has the potential to be the best in the series, but only if they can get this game running beyond a 60fps avrage. And that includes people with lower end hardware. Turning down details in the game does NOTHING to improve performance. I've tested this on my two different machines. My powerful 3d pc, and my midrange kids pc(dual core+9800gt). In fact, there was almost no performance difference at all! I would think my main pc (quad core+gtx285) would run it much faster, as it does with every other freakin game on the planet, but not this game.. .NOOOO.
I'm still so mad that I spent 60 bucks on this game, for it to not work properly. /wallbash.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':wallbash:' /> I'm not a rich guy, got 4 kids... 60 bucks can be a stretch! I usually buy used or steam sale games.

To be honest, I think you would be happy with just overclocking. What motherboard are you using?

still amazed ..considering how well metro2033 runs in 3d!!!
will take the route of an upgrade/OC.....leaning more toward the upgrade as you, rexford, are having similiar issues!
thanks for the posts! much appreciated!

I would think my main pc (quad core+gtx285) would run it much faster, as it does with every other freakin game on the planet, but not this game.. .NOOOO.
I'm still so mad that I spent 60 bucks on this game, for it to not work properly.
ok.. Black Ops rant #3 done.

I have:
q6600
gtx470
4gb
It runs fine when 3D is off, very fast FPS. But when i turn on the 3D it chokes.
I need a new CPU/Memory and I think even a new hard drive. My hard drive is ancient.
