Random Flashing "white" flashes, not a "flicker"
I'm just getting back into the 3d scene after many years on an ATI board. All my games tested so far look and play great (Far Cry, Half Life 2, Battlefield 2, COD 2, Doom 3, GTR, Lock-On) with one exception: random "white" flashes. I've been testing all sorts of options, but so far the only thing I'm really sure of is that Far Cry does not exhibit this problem indoors, but does outdoors. A lot in some places, not so much in others. If I stand still there are no flashes but I cannot repeat the problem by repeating an action or looking in the same place twice. Battlefield 2 flashes so much it is painful. Other games flash more or less, not terribly but still annoying.

I've got new batteries in my glasses, tried the E-D activator (page flip does not seem to flash, but does glitch in the same way and textures are all screwed up), shut down all processes via msconfig, changed refresh rates in games and desktop, etc.

I've been searching the forums here and at Stereovision.net. Any new ideas? Does anyone know why page flip doesn't seem to work for me (sometimes it's fine, other times the scene looks like the textures are flat but held at diferent distances as if chunks of the scene were painted on flat cards)?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi!

Do you have V-sync enabled?

I experienced the same problem when V-sync enabled. After switching it off in the global settings in the NVidia control panel every game is working well. It's strange, but it helped for me.

Well I tried setting v-synch to "off" in the control panel and the game. No difference, but you did give me the idea to mess around a bit more with the regular nVidea settings. I'll try more of that tomorrow.
One other observation I made is that in GTR, when I enable stereo my throttle is either "on or "off", nothing in-between. Makes GTR unplayable in stereo.

I have experienced this 'flashing' only with the latest 91.31 drivers. In all other aspects they work well with my 7800GTX. Maybe you cold try an older driver?

What frame rates do you get for GTR in stereo mode? Updating of input data is related to your fps. So if they are too low (<15fps), input devices tends to behave 'digital' (on/off).

Turning off v-sync in the global settings solved the flashing problem for me, I originally had it set to application controlled.

I don't believe it's a "white" flash, but a "non-stereo" flash; that is, I think that for some reason, at irregular intervals both shutters are open for one frame.

It's very inconsistent for me; I first saw the problem on Mafia, but lately it has been fine. However, Hitman Contracts flashes all the time for me. I tried vsynch off and disabled the overclocking but it didn't seem to help.

I can only guess as to what causes it, but it is obviously some kind of synching/timing issue: perhaps a bug in the driver; perhaps my hardware is too slow; or maybe it really is vsynch and I haven't figured out the proper way to set it off.

Hi
before months I have the same problem. Have this stopped with use of ed activator software (E-D.exe) from e-dimensional homepage.
With e-dimensional glasses the flashes are completely removed.
