Nvidia crosshair glitchy depth issue with Fallout 4
Hello, I'm fairly sure Skyrim also had this issue where the depth of the ctrl-f12 cross hair would be flickering through different screen depths, so you have to aim in between of the cross-eyed crosshair. Is there some way of just locking the crosshair at a certain depth? How to get around this issue? If I want 100% depth and high convergence, it brings one of the cross-eyed guns closer to the center of the screen, and then the crosshair gets bugged out even more often... It's like the nvidia crosshair is meant to dynamically sit on any surface it moves over, but its not working right.
Hello,

Is there some way of just locking the crosshair at a certain depth?

actually it is better to turn it off - it gives much more better immersion, and u'll get used to it very quickly, even with bows in skyrim

Bump. Surely you guys aren't putting up with the default nvidia crosshair... does it stay still for you guys? Mine is constantly doubling, and only sometimes is laying nicely on the target...

No one uses crosshair at all.

The Nvidia cross hair has always been hit and miss with how well it works. In older games it seemed to work better, but that's only if you didn't crank up the depth and convergence. If you did, the reticle would be off center. This can be solved by editing the LaserX and LaserY postion in the game profile using this guide by TsaebehT https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/813727/ You can also add in your own custom reticles, if this still works. https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/503584/ As eqzitara said most of us do not bother with using a cross hair.

I use it here and there depending on the game... and I really like dynamic crosshairs in fixes. :P If I get a chance I'll try to mess with it a bit more, I've tried before and couldn't really find a logical pattern to using/adjusting LaserZAdjust and definitely nothing close to a Value that would lock it at a specific Depth... :/

The only thing I've found so far is kind of a way to scale the transitions/max transition using LaserZAdjust but the low end is always at screen depth/2D and that's what you're having the issue with... The only thing I can think of at this point that could 'lock' the LaserSight at a given depth is to use extremely low depth, like 1 notch, and use/increase pop out/convergence to compensate for 'depth'. That would keep the LaserSight at screen depth and everything else would be pop out, like American McGee's Alice.

I am using the xbox one controller. I notice now that using keyboard and mouse I have no issue, because the right mouse button/'aim down sight' auto-corrects the convergence. How do you get it mapped onto my left trigger?

Open d3dx.ini, find this spot:

key1

Key = RBUTTON
convergence = 5
w = 1
type = hold

replace RBUTTON to XB_LEFT_TRIGGER

Ahh, thank you very much for that. I went from struggling in Fallout 4, to being actually good.

Good find but you never really mentioned that this was only happening when you were aiming down the sights...
