Help a NEWB Setup 3D!
Hello!

My wife got me the 3D Vision kit for our 10 year anniv!! ... but that's just one piece of the puzzle!

My brother is giving me a 21" CRT to use (It's a p1130 Dell which I think is capable of 100hz) . (I am quite certain there is no way to jimmy-rig it to work on my 47" 60hz LCD right?)

My big problem is my PC:

It's a dual core Intel (can't remember specs off-hand, I'm at work)... maybe somewhere around 2.4ghz.

I have 4 gigs of RAM.

and the major fail is that I have a 7800gtx gpu. Wow, its like a whopping 4 years old. I need to upgrade but money is a factor. I'm not really a PC gamer but I HAVE TO play the new Avatar game in 3D so that's what I'm setting this up for. What video card is good enough to handle 3D? I'm ok with off-brands. Anything under $100? A list of ones that will be passable would be super and I'll just find the best deal I can. I will probably be shopping at Fry's Electronics, if any of you guys know some good/cheap ones there.

Any other tips would rule!

I am running Vista, but I think I am getting Win7 very soon.

Thanks so much! OH, is it possible to run dual monitors with 3D? I can probably get two CRTs for free! :P

I heard Best Buy was selling GTX285's for $285 Canadian, believe it or not.

Anything better than a GTX260 should do nicely.

Here is a guide for S-3D settings as soon as you are ready. You need to activate advanced settings in the NVIDIA S-3D drivers to get all the flexibility:

Thanks for the link! I will definitely be hitting that up when I get my shtuff. $285 is a bit outta my range, hehe. I found a 9800gt for $99. I figure I might get by with that.(?)
