Average FPS on games w/specs To get an idea of how well our 3D games should be running
Yes, I know their are alot of variations that apply to this post but I would like to get an idea of how well our 3D vision setups are running. Basically, we need to decide on a good 3D vision game (ex. Batman, RE5, WOW, so on) and list our AVERAGE FPS, Computer Specs, and Resolution (and anything else that may pertain). Any advice to get things running smoother would be appreciated as well.

For example I have:

Quad AMD 2.3ghz, 4G DDR2 ram, 9800GT 1 GB, 1920 x 1080 (Samsung 61" DLP)

RE5 DX10 - 25fps
RE5 DX9 - 35fps

WOW - 45fps

Forgive me if their is already a post like this.

Sounds like a good idea. I just bought the 60" Mitsubishi screen today on sale. I'll post my fps once I build my new pc and buy my Nvidia glasses.

I was looking at getting the two 9800 GTX+ and running them in SLI... I'm not sure if that will be enough power. What is it like playing RE5 at 25fps? Is that even bearable? I have never payed much attention to my frame rate when gaming.

Also, you can guess pretty well what games will run at in 3d if you look up any benchmark and divide the frame rate by 2.

I would recommend playing in DX9, it runs alot better. 25FPS is OK but it has its moments. It looks great either way. I would tell you to wait for the new "Fermi" cards to come out before you go SLI. Supposedly SLI has issues and doesn't add as many FPS as most people would like. Save the money and go with one nice card (I'm sure I'll get "flamed" for that comment).

Good job on the DLP. I still believe they are best bang for the buck.

Actually the general consensus on the old sli zone forum's was to buy the single most powerful card you could get and only add another when the single card could'nt keep up.Their is also the people that want and can afford the most powerful system possible and that's well and good too.I alway's wanted but i could'nt afford so i try to get the cheapest that will do the job until i can afford.

Pardon me if this question sounds silly to you, but how can you tell the framerate?

2.51 ghz Intel dual core
4gb RAM
8800 GTS 512 mb
Vista 32

Avatar - Medium/High settings @1600x1200 (no AA): ~20-30 fps. However, this game runs oddly slower in 3D mode than other games. It actually ran perfect (30-60 fps) before the new profile came when just toggling the driver manually. Enabling in-game with the new profile causes a much bigger hit in frame rate.

Most other games with similar settings run better. My set up is extremely modest, but seems to fair ok with 3D. My bottleneck is my CPU. I've done benchmarks that basically tell me it sux. :P It's a low-end Intel Dual Core (not a core 2 duo).

use realtime benchmarking tools like Fraps, Fastcappro, etc.

batman AA: 1080p, very high tetail, 16xq, all effects set to yes. vsync off. batman is only dx9. not sure if quad sli works in this game. gpus dont get very hot only 2 do.
NO 3d:
92 avg fps

3d on:
53 avg fps

NOTE: im not sure how worthwhile this benchmark is- quad sli does not appear to be working

ill post some bioshock benchmarks later if it works on my pc.

Bioshock 1 60fps never changed throughout the whole game (except loading times it weirdly went to like 15 :o)
Bioshock 2 60fps only change is during HEAVY loads on the game engine
both with 3dvision
side note....these games are capped at 60 fps? must be a console thing that I never changed...

do you have vsyn on? that will attach the frame rate to the refresh rate

Games that are designed for the xbox 360 are capped at 60 frames/sec and ideally always stay there.

I'm not sure if the same is true for ps3/wii
