If you are experiencing left/right eye sync problems, please give me all of the details and I will try to get them fixed. We really want to make this a seamless experience and swapping eyes isnt always the best solution.

Why not have it as is, but with and advanced section with such things as this. Makes matters alot easier I would think. Though I know it is not as simple as that. :)
That kind of options would eventually allow some not licensed displays work with 3d vision. That's why the software is so tightly limited.

Hi

I am concerned that your projector may have the wrong firmware in it and that's the reason why you have to use a modified INF to make 3D Vision work.

Would it be possible for you to send us your EDID so we can see what is happening with it?

Thanks for the reply Andrew. Even though people aren't necessarily being told what they want to hear on these forums, it's a good sign that you're so active on here these days.

I can send you the EDID, but I did mention earlier that via HDMI everything is fine and the display is detected perfectly. It runs at 1280x720@120Hz with glasses the right way up.

I think it's because I'm going via VGA and using a custom .inf file it's only being detected as a Generic CRT. I'm doing this for two reasons, 1) because of the unique settings per input and 2) because I can run 3D Vision at 1280x800.

I'm still happy to send you the EDID if you think you can help?

How would adding a simple eye reversal option allow people to pirate the software?

Well eventually customers are going to migrate to the iz3D driver and use AMD cards, where you are able to swap the eyes if you want to.
For Nvidia 3D Vision customers? Not likely really, iZ3D support is lackluster even if they have a decent amount of features. And the quality of 3D is sub par even when considered up against the old Nvidia Driver. I own a license of it so I'm quite familiar with what they have to offer. They will have to get far more active in driver updates in making games WORK and WORK WELL in 3D if they are going to even really last, much less be a viable competitor. Not that I want to condemn them at all, competition breeds a synthesis, but they are in no wise a viable current method for 3D stereo gaming as a consitent driver to use. And that's what is important: consistency.

Hi

Please send me the EDID when its connected over HDMI and when its connected over VGA. Its possible the projector has a bad firmware and we dont properly recognize it over VGA, but we do over HDMI.

Hi

Our engineering team has been doing some more research into the eye reversal issue. We have some ideas which may help some, but not all.

If you are eye reversal, please check the NVIDIA Control Panel > System Information > Display section. There will be a line item called "Bus" there which should list the PCI Express speed. Please respond if that says PCI Express x4 or x16.

Thanks.

Not certain if you wanted to pick up this old thread - but I have the same issue on a Dell laptop with Nvidia 555M and Nvidia glasses. The Bus setting is showing up as PCI Express x16 Gen2

exactly right.
I've tried the alternatives and 3D Vision is best. 3D Vision > TriDef > iZ3D > > > > .......> > > 3DTV Play.
Despite Nvidia's decision to throw non-noobies under the bus with their "no user intervention" policy and not supporting any non-automatic 3D modes like SBS, and no eye reversal checkbox, Nvidia has the best quality and game support. That's why people who want the best 3D gaming experience are willing to jump through flaming hoops backwards to get around the grave shortcomings and design blunders of Nvidia 3D software.

Hi Andrew and all,

I have a similar problem and wear the glasses upside down.. I checked the BUS and it says PCI Express x8 Gen2??

I run in SLI with 2 470GTX's. will you need anymore specs??

Well, after trying everything we could software-wise (uninstalling drivers, re-installing drivers, etc.) the Dell CSR suggested that we replace the Light Emitting Diode built into the laptop to see if it was faulty. I admit I was skeptical, but they replaced it and now the glasses work right-side up!

I'm not certain if that is causing problems for others, but at least my issue is fixed!

Umm this is very interesting. Nvidia know that you can use the edif overrides to make monitors that support 120 hz to run 3d vision, with the downside the image is inverted. Yet they have never provided a process by which these 3d vision monitors can be added to the approved list so that they will be correctly detected. It is stated by Andrew or whoever that there will never be a function provided by nvidia to switch eyes. This is incorrect the 3d vision photo application bundled with the driver has a ctrl w function to do exactly that. This clearly establishes that Nvidia were aware of the potential issue prior to launching the product. Nvidia are also clearly aware of the the medical implications of wearing the glasses upside down, such as severe neck strain. It is clear therefore that NVIDIA have a legal obligation for a product recall and refunding of the purchase price, as nowhere is the fact that using a monitor other than on their approved list poses a medical risk. If Nvidia continue to ignore this issue, they need to recognise that this thread and simillar ones on this forum represent a clear legal trail that can be provided to the courts showing that Nvidia are aware of the problem but are taking no steps to solve the problem. This shows a reckless disregard for the health and well being of their customers. I urge anyone suffering from eye and neck strain caused by having to wear these glasses to seek medical attention as this will be invaluable in establishing a group action for negligence on by nvidia. Feel free to send this to your managing director and your legal department, because it will happen if your customers continue to be ignored.
