I built my own rig and am running Windows 7 32-bit. I've read somewhere that my projector (H5360) is pretty much used by NVIDIA themselves for demos, so that helps.

I can imagine there would be troubles with lots or IR around (remote controls and such) or multiple 3D Vision systems in the same room. But I don't know for sure.

Cool. Yeah i'm seeing a huge range of errors in that thread, from possible IRQ errors to infrared interference to faulty glasses to multi-gpu support problems - on both lcds and the acer projector. Just makes me a little weary. Glad you built something without a problem though

I think not properly keeping up with driver releases (or using aged drivers from the CD) is the source of many problems. Also, when setting up 3D Vision there are a couple of modes; only 3D Vision, 3D Vision with other IR devices and multiple 3D Vision systems. I once tried the second mode and it had some issues (like loosing sync). I guess the second and third modes let the glasses act more independently which in my book is a Bad Thing in Timing Land :) In the first mode the USB IR sender interferes with my Acer remote (not all keypresses are registered).

So, hardware issues like broken glasses aside, it may require some tweaking.

Hrm well i had some flickering problems at first. took a breath !But since i dont now im asuming it was because i selected the secound option in set up stating that id be using remotes for my TV at the same time as my 3D vision . taking a breath ! I noticed placement of the IR device is key and doing a full charge on glasses as soon as you get them is a good idea . taking a breath ! ROFL ! /teehee.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':teehee:' /> I also think 15 feet on IR device is like only if you have to type deal mines at about 8 feet atm . breath ! oh !! and it can also be the monitor cable i hooked up one cable and it would flicker alot . Ive since bought a 50 ft VGA cable from Cables to go from TigerDirect for 49.99 and it works perfect ! Good luck ! ..peace ! takes breath .

True that. I have set the IR sender 1.5m in front of me for best results (also notice that the IR receiver is on the left side of the glasses).

According to the manual you should charge the glasses 3 hours before use, although the LED indicated that it was fully charged on arrival.

Wait so, is there a minimum distance for the placement of the IR transmitter? I'm just trying to figure out how i'm going to arrange my room for the setup. if you need to put the transmitter way in front of you, couldnt a unnecessarily long cable possssibly create some syncing issues?

I don't think there is any minimum distance requirement, but there should be line of sight between the left glass and the IR sender.

USB should behave as long as you keep the cable under 5 meters long. At pretty long cable (2,5m or so) is included in the box. I really think IR noise is the main problem.

Edit: the reason I have set it pretty far in front of me is because of room layout the sender is on the right side

Once you've watched television in colour, why would you want to watch it in plain old black in white /homestar.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':homestar:' />.

What surprised me most is that 3D Vision causes me a whole lot _less_ eye strain than RealD cinema. And that is 144hz polarized tech most of the time.

Sorry if i confused you ! .. Max distance is 15 feet ...Ive got my IR on a 10 foot ext usb cable with a 6 foot then routed into a powered USB hub it works great ! haha ive got it wrapped around my room under the base boards ...theres also a 3 foot usb cable between the hub and IR device so im assuming as long as you have a powered hub close to the IR emitter you should be fine as far as usb cable length :">

i have had a great 3d vision experience. no ghosting, no glasses out of sync, i really enjoy my 3d setup. My only gripe was the lack of quad sli support. not an issue for me now the sli fermi is in- but i would like to go back to quad sli when the 3d vision surround is released. sli fermi will not power the 3d surround at the quality levels i like to play at. There is lots of pop out in 3d ready games- like metro- batman- avatar....

Few keys things i have learned:
buy only supported hardware monitors and graphics cards
buy 3d ready games for the best experience (torrent pirated games cause allot of the glasses out of sync and flickering problems)
have a fresh computer free of malware and viruses (helps allot with the glasses sync.)
DLP projectors or tv's offer the best visual quality.
have a clear line of sight from the emitter
