An Observation made with 3D Vision and FPS...

I remember much much more about Duke Nukem 3d than HL1 . In fact I disliked HL1 so much, never tried HL2 . I only tried it recently because of s3d, well looks like it aged very fast LOL ( unlocked all levels, been here&there). Too much hype, way too much.

Portal2 probably wouldn't work in 3DS on a PS3. Remember they didn't get any new horsepower when they put 3D on the PS3, they just added a new standard. It would be like trying to play with 3D Vision using an old 8600 graphics card.

I've been playing Fallout 3 and 3D has worked very well. I'm not sure why it wouldn't work well with a straight-up first person shooter.

3D definitely isn't for all games, though. If you have to do a lot of clicking items on the screen and those items aren't pretty near screen depth, the 3D makes it very difficult.

Exactly the way FPS games are, 3D doesnt work too well with them. If you saw the Killzone 3 3D, they took out a ton of effects, smoke, debris, etc because it was hectic and didn't work well.

Most PS3 games only display at 720. Adding the strain of 3d onto this load I cant see many games being able to run 3d in HD.
Either that or all lighting and particle effects will be off just like Killzone 3 3d.
I would guess these effects were not turned off because it was getting too Hectic but rather that it was putting too much strain on the system.

I love my PS3 but I have no confidence in the 3d. They are going to have to cutback somehow to make any 3d game run at a decent framerate.
I think 3d console gaming wont really be a viable option till the next Gen machines...
It doesnt seem like that long ago my ps3 was next Gen... :)

Its not so surprising given the power different between the average gaming rig and a PS3. I'll bet most of the members here probably have a graphics card (or cards) that cost more then a brand new PS3, let alone their processor.

Did I forget to tell him I put 3rd person view toggle into Borderlands? And we turned off outline shader? Damn I forgot.

Ya btdvox I would tend to agree that 3rd person titles are generally the best in 3D Vision, especially open world or games that use a lot of heights to emphasize the sense of depth. First person shooters would be better of course if they were all perfect and had 3D crosshairs and such, but I also agree that pretty "simple" effects like volumetric particles with fog or smoke are overly distracting in 3D. I almost feel like I'm purposefully dodging or going around them when that's probably the worst thing to do heheh.

Isometric top-down RTS and RPGs also have amazing potential in 3D, unfortunately many of them render cursors and icons in 2D/screendepth also which limits how much depth you can have. Just need a few devs to show the way, hopefully SC2 does so with its upcoming patch which would open the doors for something like Diablo 3 with perfect cursor depth. :D

Well, I for one have thoroughly enjoyed all of the 1st person games I have played. I think they are just as good as 3rd person games, with similar jaw dropping moments / frustrating issues.
