Avatar will be releasing in April: it will not be 3D version. The 3D version will be released next year I think: I have heard that the movie is good so I am thinking to wait for the 3d version to be released on blu-ray.
But will we be able to see this movie via Nvidia 3D glasses ?
I once downloaded a clip to see how it looks in 3d: but 3d vision did not worked. I think that clip was made for the other glasses which have one red lens and one other color lens.
Does anybody know about what technology Avatar 3D use?
Will it work with Nvidia 3D?
Any movie you can recommend? The one you have seen in 3d with Nvidia glasses.

The 3d bluray is going to use the mvc codec which pack both a right and left view. I think it is safe to assume that if your computer has a blu-ray player then nvidia will come out with a driver, and playback software enabling your 3-d vision to work for future 3d blu-rays.
What I'm interested in knowing is whether the ps3 will support checkerboard 3d, and possibly the nvidia emitter and glasses. The ps3 does sport a nvidia gpu after all. I would much prefer to watch blu-rays on my ps3 over my computer.

I have the feeling that the PS3 will only use accesories from SONY, not from nvidia :)
also, their tech seems to be 240hz. I will speak to someone who did the superstardust 3d version and see will the acer5360 work with their demo's, I will offer him mine for a day or two.

Yea, I figure that sony will require sony glasses, not to mention probably a sony tv. Hell, don't forget to buy the sony couch with the matching sony coasters for your sony pint glasses full of sony juice!

Yes I think we will be able to watch all 3d blurays..
because there is a support for 3d vision with powerdvd10 which itself supports 3d blurays.
If you have PowerDVD 10 you can already convert DVD's on-the-fly into 3D and watch them with your 3d vision system in fullscreen mode (I think I don't need to mention that the conversion is not the best ;) )

I was hoping that Sony 3D will be based on technology which is similar to Nvidia's. That way, there would be no compatibility issues. But if Sony is making their own technology, then that is disappointing: then I guess we will not be able to see any movie in 3D that Sony Pictures produces or is in Blu ray format :(

I think there's a more general problem to watch 3d cinema movies at home .
The movie has a very small separation - made for watching it on a very big screen.
Lets say the stereo far point separation is around 1/30 (probably less) of the screensize. When you watch this at home there wont be much depth in it.
Nothing compared to a 3D game with comfortable depth . Look at your monitor when you play a game and compare the two
images (far points) : they are in a distance of about 1/8 of the screen size at maximum depth. With 1/30 of the screen it looks very flat.
The only way around this would be creating a movie with different stereobases for each output . I dont think thats the way they do it.
Thats a perfect copy protection ,by the way .
Even if you have much place in your home and a huge screen with projector it will never be the same as in cinema . It will look quite flat.
