I'm actually surprised no one seems to have ever tried to fix this game as it's become very popular and is free.
Until now I have just been using the CM mode which works pretty well, but 3dmigoto does hook ok.
As of the new open world update the CM doesn't work, anyone got a working string for it?
Games not too bad in real 3d actually maybe it wouldn't be so hard to fix.

I've been playing Warframe almost daily for more than one year now. I have all the frames, weapons, truckload of godly rivens, over 10k plat. It's the quintessential "geek" game. A little tough to get into at first but if you stick with it it's the gift that keeps on giving. Two massive open-world areas, new missions, weapons, frames, etc.
No need to spend once cent on it, truly the meaning of free-to-play but unfortunately the only game in this category that's worthy of the name. Maybe there will be others, who knows. For the moment, it's unique in the gaming world in this respect.
And I've been playing only in 3D, from the start. Not CM, true 3D. Performance is great even on my 4K passive OLED. Even in windowed mode (I like windowed mode to be able to tab out of the game and do whatever, this is the perfect game to sometimes play with your mind on something else, discovering new music or chatting to friends, etc). After Fortuna, performance took a hit overall but I think it's always like this with big updates and they will patch it soon I hope.
So I think that everyone should give Warframe a chance. It's quite unique. Totally free, good in 3D, unparalleled traversal and very satisfying combat, with many layers of complexity in it's gameplay systems.
Makes me think of Nioh, in the context of action RPGs. (thank you Masterotaku for your fix for one of the best games I've ever played!).
I I can imagine that Subnautica would be the same, in the exploration/survival genre. I plan to try it out soon, and thanks to DSS we have already a fix for it.
Sometimes some games are really defining a genre by their gameplay quality. And I really don't think you can go wrong with Warframe in online coop mmo shooters, Nioh in action RPGs, and probably Subnautica in it's own genre.
Playing these games in 3D is one of the best experiences you can have, if you call yourself a gamer.
At least until RDR2 arrives on PC in perfect 3D Vision and engulfs us all, like GTA5 did. :-)
Necropants, I hope you can keep enjoying Warframe in 3D. Play it casually, because there is always somethng to do in this game, so the burnout is real. Put your 3D glasses on, Tenno!

I don't see a direct HelixMod blog fix for this game, but this wikipedia blurb about the engine might help. It says it's the same engine as with Darkness 2, which a DX9 fix exists for. Some information online when looking for DX11 shows that Warframe might have updated to it or made it an option.

I guess this goes to show what people are prepared to tolerate in 3D.
Personally I do not find the game playable in geometry 3D at all. It has major Haloing issues, 2D reticle and screen depth lights and particle effects. (Probably a lot more problems.)
Until the latest patch I found CM mode to be a good compromise but now this doesn't work either.
Yes Schwing, there has never been a community fix.
It's Dx11 because 3dmigoto does work. But my shaderhacking skills aren't a high level enough for this game.
I would argue Path of exile is another free to play game that's actually good. (I have over 1000 hours logged in) and can be played without spending a cent.

There are definitely varying degrees of 3D tolerance, as many of our forum dwellers have shown over the years.
For me, Warframe does not have any that are bothering. I can spot a little hallowing with Oberon's hallowed ground or when my Equinox has the Maim on, but that's really minor, I don't notice it anymore and it's occasional. I did not spot any particle issues. Crosshairs and enemy/objective markers are at fixed depth, not screen depth, which I'm used to almost every game, even most of the fixes. I'm headshotting everything even while bullet jumping around. Some skyboxes (or elements like cloud/smoke in the sky backgrounds are at wrong depth, but that's also quite common - especially after years of WoW).
To keep performance good, I have many graphical options on low, so that's probably the main reason i don't see big issues with the 3D Vision.
I have to give Path of Exile a try one of these days, I keep hearing good things about it. It's that I'm a little put off on the idea of a Diablo clone, I did not find Diablo 3 much fun for more than the first story playthrough. And when you play Nioh, the Diablo-likes games seem too over-simplified. But since it's free, I can just try it out. The game is 3D ready even without fix if I remember correctly, right? Are you still playing it and enjoying it?
PS
I think the most surprising part for me is that I don't see more people talking about Warframe here. Maybe not many people have discovered this little hidden gem yet. Then we will know more about what other think about the game in 3D.

Ok yeah I will try the game with low settings and see (although I'm loathe to do so.)
Path of Exile is 1000x better game than Diablo 3. It's more like a spiritual successor to D2 (at this point I would say it's better than that too.) It's also almost flawless in 3dvision. I would actually argue it remains one of the most impressive games with the technology. (I have been working on a perfect fix but won't release it unless I work out one more problem) They recently broke the water a bit, and then fixed it again a bit. Theres some issues with point lights now too, but with right depth settings it's still pretty much perfect and the lights align in the right world space anyway.
I am intending to go back to it with the upcoming betrayal expansion.
I also agree about warframe it's become a great game over the years and am a bit surprised it's not getting any love around here.
Also if you are expecting a simple game you will be in for a shock with POE. =)

Warframe is the same situation as with Far Cry 5's Easy Anti Cheat. The game has mod-scanning software, running after completing a mission, and some people mentioned bans here and here. So even a 3D fix that works now might cause bans somewhere down the road. Sounds like you were able to use 3DM with no issues though, Necropants.

Vermintide 2 uses EAC but that game won't even let you start the game with 3dmigoto. This must be something different. I might just run it and see anyway. For science and stuff.
