Hello,
I'm using 3D play TV and I have the same issu ---> unplayable !
I think Dice chosed to unactive 3D vision because of this lighting issu (did they forgot to turn off 3D play??).
This problem is not only activation issu, but a big crack in the frosbite 2 engine... So I don't figure out how Nvidia gave 5 stars to discribe how good/bad is the 3d in BTF3 ??? (this is just a big lie)
ps : For the litle story I'm a PS3 user and i bought a breand new PC just because of no 3D support on PS3/BTF3 (for 64 players games also. So i'm very hoping a patch ASAP.
PPs : I do not care who's fault is but your com about this is realy unfair (do not put 5 stars on somthing unplayable)

Hi All
Again, we rate our driver and profiles ahead of patches or games being released. You will see for example that we have already rated Batman Arkham City, since we have tested it.
So our rating for BF3 is based upon the patch that we know is coming.

That's why the 3D Vision workaround is a workaround. You're using a hack to enable Nvidia's auto-stereo driver which is known to have problems with deferred rendered effects that may be 2D or only drawn in one eye. DICE is handling the 3D for BF3 natively in the game engine, which means there's goind to be 2x draw calls, one for each eye as each frame is dual rendered for S3D. That should handle the lighting problem you're seeing. If you use the workaround those are the kind of problems you should expect, otherwise you're better off waiting for the official patch version.

Which is really the best way to go about it, despite all the flak you're catching in this thread over it. Thanks again for your hard work Andrew.
Also DICE had a Q&A yesterday about the upcoming patch, and Stereo 3D was not mentioned at all. zh1nt0 or w/e his name is said we should see a list of patch notes sometime next week, so I assume the patch would be released sometime after that.

Hi,
The point is I'm not using any kind of crack, 3d Play is working "out of the box", I think it's running on "native" 3D (not same issues that your used to see using 3D vision)but the only problem is the light effect (everything else is just great). So, if I'm running native 3D that's mean the problem is how Frosbite2 provides those light effects.... And it can be an easy thing to solve or.... perhaps something very deep in the engine code.
So, I just want to know (confirm it please) if my problem has been referenced, and if a solution will provided in the next patch ????

3DTV Play still uses Nvidia's auto-stereo driver, and NOT DICE's native stereo 3D implementation with Frostbite 2. I have no doubt the lighting issue will be fixed once DICE releases the S3D patch, as there's no way I could see them releasing S3D with those kind of bugs or Nvidia giving that a 3D Vision Ready rating. So yes, I think your best bet is to wait for the 3D patch before worrying too much about the bugs you're seeing now.

Unfortunately what you believe is irrelevant because the laws in place and the EULA you agreed and consented to when you install the game clearly state the game is sold to you "As Is" (Section 6: http://eacom.s3.amazonaws.com/EULA_BF3_final2_8.29.11.pdf ). Simply put, if EA decided not to release a patch for 3D, they would not be obligated otherwise. Doesn't make it right, but important to know since those are the laws that are in place.
You did have the right to return the software if you felt it did not meet your expectations without 3D support, but once you agree to that EULA and fully install the game, you forfeit that right. At some point the end-user does need to do his/her due diligence to avoid any potential feelings of being cheated. In this case, if 3D Vision was the major reason for buying the game and you found out the game did not support it on Day 1, it would've been in your best interest to hold off on buying the game or to return it for a refund. This is the kind of decision every consumer needs to make at the time of purchase: if a product does not meet your expectations when you buy it, then don't buy it. If you do decide to buy it anyways...all bets and warranties are off unless explicitly stated otherwise.
Your attitude regarding consumer rights is equally old, tired and lazy because if you had simply expended a fraction of the energy you spent here doing your due diligence beforehand, you might've saved yourself a lot of grief and frustration. Important lesson for anyone interested in bleeding edge technology I guess.
That's great. But, that's not what I was talking about at all. The mod here knew that the 3D was broken and because of a non-disclosure agreement he made (the unethical part), he had to wait until after release to tell us. Please, in your greatest, most verbose and vacuous arguments, explain to me why you feel (not what the laws in place say) that this is right.
Lay bare your ethical dispositions and tell me why it is okay for someone to omit information that people begged to know?
It's really as simple as that. I don't want to be sold on a law with vacuous rhetoric and 'legal' jargon.

Ya, really simple without any of the legal jargon: BF3 isn't his or Nvidia's product to manage, what obligation or right does he have to comment on it prior to launch against EA's wishes? Maybe that's why Nvidia wasn't showing BF3 off in 3D Vision at GeForce Lan 6, ever thought of that? As for being unethical that he entered an NDA? Quite the opposite, there's nothing unethical about NDA, its standard operating procedure for unreleased products, breaking or violating NDA would be unethical.....
But that's why its so confusing to me you're whining here about a problem that is clearly DICE's responsibility, why don't you take it up with DICE and ask them why they omitted 3D support? From all indications, Nvidia has done their part validating their hardware/drivers and lobbying for 3D Vision support on our behalf. Ball clearly lies in DICE's court now...right Luc? (fan or just coincidence?)

Hello,
I'm using 3D play TV and I have the same issu ---> unplayable !

Thanks for your return!

I guess that's an overall positive indicator....since you obviously have info we aren't privy to. :)
