CD v1.23 (GeForce GPU driver v197.13, NVIDIA 3D Vision driver v197.13) WH
5 / 5
After trying the new drivers I am more impressed. I do have to say one thing though, At the moment, it seems Quad and 3-way SLI are still broken, and I know the last drivers only had "Beta" access to these, but I really think Nvidia has to step it up and get 3-way SLI working with 3D Vision, Playing BFBC 2 and Metro 2033 at 20-30 FPS is not fun, they sure look great just dont run great and after paying almost 1300+ dollars for GPU's I know new ones are coming out but theres no incentive to upgrade if SLI does not work with 3D Vision.
BTW I have 3 X GTX 280's and a i7 965 clocked at 4GHZ.

Looks like I am few days late to that party. Good to see new drivers, downloading now. Based on the comments Bioshock 2 and Bad Company 2 sound playable, how about Mass Effect 2? Should I bother re-downloading from steam to play in 3d?

The first time Quad SLI cranks on in DX9 titles and 3D vision as where it did not with the 196.21 WHQL bunch. However, it's as slow as christmas through the Irish bogs. I get about 10-15 frames per second in Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 with QUAD SLI and 3D vision. With QUAD SLI off and 3D vision enabled, everything is fast. They still have A LOT of work to do there, but at least they're trying to get it going.

how do I tell if my cards are using sli (All I see is the option to turn it on/off in the nvidia control panel) performance wise, ie if they are doing anything to help performance.

You have to turn on the SLI Visual Indicator in the Control Panel.
I can only speak for QUAD SLI here. CD 1.23 is the first time I've seen Quad SLI work in DX9 titles, whereas QUAD SLI on came on in DX10 titles on CD 1.20. I can't speak for Regular SLI or 3-way SLI rigs on previous CD's.

SLI Indicator doesnt come on always even if you have SLI on, this is because 3D Vision doesnt work with SLI really. I have yet to see a game that works with SLI, I have tested it with Metro 2033 for example with SLI on and Off with the same performance.

So today, I decided to do some tests with 3D Vision and SLI or rather 3-way SLI.
It seems quite a few games dont even register 3-way SLI, and some games like Fallout 3 get an increase in FPS but have major glitches and anytime you shoot a certain weapon you will always get a major stutter.
It's better to play without SLI on those games. But Fallout 3 is one game where:
Without 3D Vision and no SLI = 44-60 Fps
Without 3D Vision and With 3-way SLI = 80-120 FPS
With 3D Vision and With 3-way SLI (albiet major stuttering) = 40-60FPS
With 3D Vision with no SLI and no stuttering from shots (by stuttering I mean no major dips in which you get a freeze for a second)= 30-35 FPS.
So in fallout 3 3-way SLI is registering but there are side effects which cause the game to freeze anytime you use certain weapons.
Another game, Metro 2033:
Without 3D Vision and no SLI = 40-60 FPS avg with all settings maxed out and AAA on.
Without 3D vision and with 3-way SLI = 85-110 FPS avg with all settings maxed out and AAA on.
With 3D Vision and with 3-way SLI = 20-40 FPS avg with all settings maxed out and AAA on.
With 3D Vision and no SLI = 10-20 FPS avg with all settings maxed out and AAA on.
So as you can see 3D Vision hinders performance a bit too much with Metro 2033 but that being said, 3-way SLI seems to be not registering properly as the performance bump is very small from about 15 FPS avg with it OFF and about 25 FPS avg with it on. 2 extra GPU's gets you barely any more performance.
Please note something when I state NO 3D Vision I am testing on a 2560X1600 monitor and when I say 3D Vision is on I am using a 1920X1080 monitor.
Just some small specs and inside look into some games and SLI. I know Nvidia has not stated that performance is where it should be, but with new GPU's coming out, it's time to get SLI working with 3D Vision, were missing out on being able to play these games. Many of us have 2 GTX 295s and 2 or 3 GTX 280/285's.
