Ok guys im thinking iv buying one of these monitors because ever since i updated my graphics cards from 2x gtx275 to 2x gtx480 sc iv got a pretty bigger increase in FPS in games which means my screen tearing has got alot worse, im only running a cheap viewsonic 1920x1080 60hz hdmi full 1080p 24inch screen. im keen on updating to this screen

is it worth buying?, i run all my games at native resolution of any monitor,is this screen good at geting rid of screen tearing in high end systems being a 120hz monitor?
Tearing will be less in 120Hz mode.

However, issue you got is simple... either boost your e-peen about FPS you get, or set VSYNC ON and have completely tear-less experience, but capped to monitor refresh rate (which is btw completely fine).

I suggest you research a bit what VSYNC is, and why it's nice to have it on.

You say you want to get rid of tearing. There is this little feature that does that for us, its called V-SYNC!
If you want to get rid of tearing, use it, that's what it does.

Secondly, I understand you are going to have a very powerful system, and want the highest framerates possible, but once they go over your monitor's refresh rate, you will see ABSOLUTELY NO increase in quality visually.

This is because your monitor is already showing the maximum amount of FPS anyway. Therefore, using V-SYNC actually makes it look BETTER because it gets rid of tearing, and doesn't stop the monitor from showing any more FPS.

------------------------------------------------------

To everyone that thinks that this monitor has that halo effect for everyone, mine does not. I stand by that. I have tried with OD on / off and the only difference I see is much more ghosting with it off...

The ONLY problem I have with it is that I have 1 dead pixel, and there seems to be a little bleeding on the right-side of the monitor...

To the kid who asked the size of the actual display area, I cant find my tape measure... :\ When I find it I'll post back :)

I would recommend this monitor to anyone. In comparison to my 17" CRT I used to use for 3D, it's a fairly huge improvement!

Yeah, that's the idea of it...

When I had my GTX 480 it was working well, playing at a nice smooth 120fps. (Then my card failed and I had to send it back).

Some games don't let you get frame rates this high (like COD for example seems to cap everyone at 91fps) but you still benefit from enabling V-SYNC.

With 2xGTX480 you should be able to get frame rates that high in pretty much everything, right?

Nick

When I had my GTX 480 it was working well, playing at a nice smooth 120fps. (Then my card failed and I had to send it back).

Some games don't let you get frame rates this high (like COD for example seems to cap everyone at 91fps) but you still benefit from enabling V-SYNC.

With 2xGTX480 you should be able to get frame rates that high in pretty much everything, right?
