Projector gaming. Some games are 1080i and I can't change it to 1080p
2 / 2
My thought after seeing the last EDID that he linked was that the projector is using a half mirror array and wobulation. But that wouldn't make sense when full mirror array DMDs are availabe for 1080P.
It makes sense that the new 4K projectors are currently going this route until a better/affordable solution is available.
BTW, Kraine has a review up on his site for the new 4K BenQ PJ. W110O0 [url=http://redirect.viglink.com/?format=go&jsonp=vglnk_148110936166314&key=0f4a86ba6db5fdb509f85ecacef1696f&libId=iweukq300100s3dy000DA1kaugnpn&loc=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.avsforum.com%2Fforum%2F24-digital-hi-end-projectors-3-000-usd-msrp%2F2279186-benq-w11000-4k-dlp-projector-16.html%23post47671113&v=1&out=https%3A%2F%2Ftranslate.google.fr%2Ftranslate%3Fhl%3Dfr%26sl%3Dfr%26tl%3Den%26u%3Dhttp%253A%252F%252Fwww.projection-homecinema.fr%252F2016%252F10%252F23%252Ftest-benq-w11000%252F&ref=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.avsforum.com%2Fforum%2Fsearch.php%3Fsearchid%3D136734505&title=BenQ%20W11000%20%3A%204K%20DLP%20projector%20-%20Page%2016%20-%20AVS%20Forum%20%7C%20Home%20Theater%20Discussions%20And%20Reviews&txt=https%3A%2F%2Ftranslate.google.fr%2Ftranslat...benq-w11000%252F]google translated from French[/url] No 3D :(
Acer and Optoma are also releasing 4K PJs using this same DMD, let's hope that they support 3D for those that can afford it. Of course if they do, it would have to be an interlaced format. 3960i not 3960P
Acer V9800
Optoma UHD300

I believe it may be a limitation of DMD and/or DMD software - since there are more projectors on this DMD, like SIM2 Nero 4 and they also have no 3d support :(

I'm sure this is the original edid.
Windows has always seen the projector as 1080i 30hz native. Has native in brackets in NCP.
Windows is always in 1080p though by default.
The projector supports 3D. I've had it nearly 3 years now but always have this annoying problem with 1080i in some games.
Can anything be done? Does 3D used interlaced? Can I delete the interlaced resolutions from the edid?
Could someone add 1080p, delete the interlaced resolutions and send me the edid back please?
Sony are the only company to makenative 4K projectors. They've been out for nearly 5 years with the only competition being wobulation fake pseudo 4K or costing more than £30,000.
I'll pick a 4K projector up when the prices come down a bit. Also HDR on 4K projectors is supposed to be shitter than nonHDR as they aren't bright enough.

I think D-man11 already moded you e edid, check previous page.

Thanks Joker. How did I miss that?!?
[quote="D-Man11"]Try this, I copied 1080P@60 native timings from another inf. and added it in place of both your 1080i native and detailed #1 timings.

Thanks a lot D-Mann11. It's greatly appreciated. I'll give it a try later.
I don't think it matters about audio capabilities of the projector as it doesn't have speakers or any smart features.
The Marantz Pre Pro plays Dolby atmos/DTS X etc fine in games and movies. It's ust the interlaced resolution doing my nut in.
I'll let you know how I get on.
Thanks again.

It didn't work D-Man11.
I restarted but the screen kept flashing. I tried a restart and it was a black screen with the iris making whirring noises.
Thanks for trying. Any other suggestions or options?

[quote="GibsonRed"]I have a Panasonic PTAT-6000e (an PTAE8000u in the states) projector.[/quote]
Here's the spec sheet, I see that it has an LCD panel. So don't worry about answering my question where I asked what DMD (Digital Mirror Device) it's using

You might check their support site for an updated driver or firmware perhaps.
Also, I listed your PJ Audio specs so that you can see why it's important that the GPU sees your AVR capabilities as well as your Display capabilities. They need to merge correctly.

Try this (tis for W7, 10 should be similar?)
Make sure to delete all leftovers from the system:
Start [Select]
My Computer [right-click]
Properties [Select]
Advanced System Settings {Select]
Environment Variables [Select]
New [Select] (Under User variables ...)
Set field "Variable name" to devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices
Set field "Variable value" to 1.
OK [Select]
OK [Select]
Now go to Device Manager (Start->Computer->Properties [right click])
Menu option "View" [Select]
Menu option "Show hidden devices" [Select]
Monitors [Select]
Uninstall any greyed-out display device.
Tick on the option "Delete all driver files for this device" (if applicable)
It will clear out your registry and let you start fresh. That way if it somehow got corrupted, this will allow it start afresh.

Thanks D-Mann11. I did what you said and I tried adding 1080p myself.
It worked as far as playing games in 1080p and Windows/games seeing the projector as native 1080p instead of 1080i.
The problem is it sees the projector as a monitor now. This means no 24p for playback and no 3D TV play.
If I go to the stereoscopic 3D settings in NCP and run the 3D setup wizard it's 3D vision, emitter, etc, no 3D TV play.
Is there a way I can get this to work or do I have to swap edid every time I want to play a 2D 1080p/play a game in 3D/watch a film in 24p?
Thanks a lot for the help everyone.

As far as your 24Hz playback complaint, there's a post about trimming the porches to dial in the actual FPS, Nvidia and Microsoft round it up to 24Hz. ReClock, used to work as a solution, but a quick look at the forums shows problems with PowerDVD 14 and W10
https://forum.redfox.bz/forums/reclock.85/ (Note: It used to be SlyFox)
The timings I listed above are the standard GTF timings, so no idea why it didn't work for you via the EDID I provided in post #13.
The thing is, that CRU typically will mess up the display ID and make it seen as a generic display, that's why I do not like using it with Nvidia. I used it a lot previously with my AMD GPU
Have you tried simply making a custom resolution in the Nvidia control panel while having your original EDID active? It works on some, but not all games, but might be just enough for you to get by.

I can't make a custom resolution as the resolution already exists.
1080p 60hz is the top of my list but 1080i 30hz is underneath and says native in brackets next to it.
Everything works fine apart from the odd game.
I thought there would be a way of making Windows see 1080p 60hz as the native resolution, instead of 1080i.

Try this one. You can use it with CRU. I left inside also 30hz refresh for 1080p.
