While I'm excited for Nvidia's BFGD monitors and all the new 27 inch 144Hz 4K monitors, I also know that driving these 4K Displays using 3D Vision, will not be an easy thing to do. Also 4K on a 27 inch monitor, is a waste IMO. A 4K resolution would be more appreciated on a monitor that is at least 40+ inches for 16:9
I think that most would agree, that 1080P is the sweet spot for 3D gaming without performance issues.
But I wouldn't recommend buying 1080P anymore, because it's not future proof and higher resolutions just look so much more pristine.
My recommendation would be to go with 1440P, which offers 77% more pixels that 1080P.
I've been extremely happy with my 1440P monitor, but one thing I was not happy with, was going from a 27 inch monitor, to a 27 inch monitor. But at the time and up to now, that was the only option in 16:9.
Well that has now changed, enter the LG 32GK850G-B, which began selling Dec 2017

While it hasn't been confirmed to work with 3D Vision, I would assume that it will be added into support
The outside dimensions of my 27 inch monitor is 24 x 14.25, the 32GK850G-B is 28.16 x 16.69 according to the specifications on NewEgg. Plenty of room, on most people's desks

Looking at the reviews on Newegg, I see that some panels suffer from blurry fonts that can not seem to be fixed.

It makes me wonder if it might be due to a 4K panel being used, like discussed in this article.

I considered buying this monitor, and asked a question to their sales team who said it did not support 3D Vision. This however, I took with a grain of salt since sales reps. are usually technically clueless people simply answering a chat.
However, what I found discouraging was the lack of ULMB in this panel. Even if 3D Vision were to work, this would man potentially very poor performance, even worse than Lightboost 1.0 of first geenration.
