To anyone using a projector as their main-use screen... How often does the bulb burn out?
I'm looking to score a projector once Optoma finally decides to release firmware updates that supposedly convert most of their current projectors into 3D projectors (hello, HD20) like they claimed they would.

Basically, instead of a monitor in front of me I want to just have the projector aiming at the wall I'll be facing with my computer desk. It'll get the same 2-6 hours of use per day as my computer gets now.

Does anyone here use their projector like this? In the same way that one would use any other computer monitor? How often does the bulb burn out in that case? I realize they're not recommended for daily use because of the short lifespan of the bulb, but even if I had to replace it once per year (or maybe more, depending on how much I like it), I wouldn't mind.

Also, is the text really THAT blurry as I've heard, or is it still acceptable to the point where you can read comfortably?

Sorry, I have no idea but I hope that is true because then I will buy my first Optoma!
I have been an Infocus guy for my main theater but for gaming, if optoma delivers this, then I am in. /thumbup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
As for text, the key to razor sharp text is pixel mapping ie, matching 1:1 the resolution of the projector.
