nice, hopefully these fix the SLI scaling issue for Avatar. Problem still exists with GTX 480 SLI but its at least playable now (35-40 FPS instead of 19-20 FPS with GTX 280 SLI).
Just an update, these drivers do NOT fix SLI scaling in Avatar. Two GTX 480's sitting there at ~50% utilization each, FPS ~35-40FPS about the same as a single GTX 480. Overall still much better than GTX 280s (which are about half of this in FPS), but still much lower than they should be for GTX 480 SLI.
wow sounds like more of the same...i hope they get quad figured out in 3d someday- i would love to run quad sli again... thanks for the input. i dont think ill bother with these drivers- my fermi's should be here tomorrow or friday!
Yep. I'll wait and see if they can get it working. Metro2033 works pretty good with Quad SLI and 3d Vision, which is odd because as of today, its probably the most graphically demanding game above Crysis.

BTW- My setup is just about identical to yours. i7 920 @ 4 Ghz, w/ 12 Gb of ram (all ram modules full, which puts a load on the memory controller). I can NOT overclock above that without memory dropping out as USEABLE (i.e. 12 Gb (7.99 useable)). I also have the 60" dlp which you just can't beat. It's a sweet setup if your hardware can do it, much better than 4.2 Ghz w/ 6 Gb ram.

super cool set up you have! you are right- running 12 gb ram is sweet- you can turn off paging file in windows- and games run so much smoother and faster. i was starting to fill up 6 gb on games like crysis and batman with the graphics all maxed out! I also have a hard time oc'ing the memory on my setup just like you. im running kingston hyperX 2000mhz rated- but the best i can do with the full 12 gb is 1600mhz. i have had it up to 2000 mhz but only with 6gb installed.

do you have a DO or a CO quad core? i heard the Co's are easier to oc the memory but dont get as high on the cpu speed. i have the do stepping. it can do 4.2 ghz on a air cooler with hyper-threading off and only 1.3v to the cpu! no real point for me to run the cpu that fast though- no games come even close to using the full power of the quad cores- its all gpu limited for now

these i7's are sure a fun challenge to learn how to overclock aren't they! cheers!

Daniel,
The memory I have on my setup is OCZ Reaper DDR3 1866 MHz, which is not rated quite as high as yours, but it seems to be very conservative (perhaps the heat pipes on it help a bunch). When I had only 6Gb of it, I ran my i7 @ 4.2 Ghz with my memory ratio at 2:10 which put me right over 2000 Mhz, and I could run 20 passes of Linx with my memory set to use "All." With 12 Gb, I can't go over the 190 Bus speed (x21 multiplier) without it dropping ram, and I run it on the same 2:10 ratio, and that puts me effectively at 1884 Mhz, right at the spec. Anything more than that and it starts to drop ram. I guess I could drop it down to 2:8 ratio which would put the ram at 1600 Mhz and attemp to squeeze out that remaining CPU overclock, but alas, I believe I have hit the sweet spot here. I'd rather have that extra bandwidth on the ram than a ~100 Mhz on the cpu side. Plus, when you run your i7 with all memory modules full, the cpu does run hotter. I'll hit 80 - 85 degrees Celsius under max load. I don't really want it to run hotter than that on max load. I had to tweak my vcore voltage quite a bit (1.375) to get it stable with the memory all full, as I said it puts more of a strain on the cpu's memory controller. I have hyper-threading on.

I have a D0, and it's obviously pretty good, though I've seen some hit my setup (12 gb, memory modules full) with a little bit lower voltage. Hitting 4 Ghz with an i7 is golden. Hitting 4 Ghz, with 12 gb and memory modules full, is a whole other ball game and a home run.

So Generic DLP??? Sammys??? Anybody confirm or deny?

I got bfbc2 working really nice right now without 3D vision... I dont wana start screwing around with it all unless its gunna be worth it.

for my system running the QPI voltage at 1.65v solved the ram dropping outs stability issue. the extreme memory profile actually clocked the qpi this high! but this is way beyond Intel's max specs.

i wish i had your ram- sounds like a nice overclock. im not too happy with the kingston not hitting advertised speeds- but i have not had a lot of time to play around with the memory clocks too much- so it could be user error. shoot its been so long since i overclocked it- i cant remember my multiplier or bclock

which motherboard are you running?

one of these days im going to post on extreme systems and get some more experienced help to see how far i can really take the pc. you sure are right about the 12gb being difficult to OC!!

Hitting 4 Ghz, with 12 gb and memory modules full, is a whole other ball game and a home run.

photios

Daniel,
Do you mean the "QPI PLL vcore" to 1.65v? Wow, I think mine is running @ 1.2v (if it is the QPI PLL). I have my DIMM voltage @ 1.68v, which is higher than the spec, but the Ram dropped at the 1.65v Dimm voltage at the speed I have it at now.

I'm using EVGA's X58 Classified Hydro Copper motherboard. I use liquid cooling on my cpu and northbridge (which has it built in).
I might be mistaken but it seems that a new 3D Vision driver CD was released today (04.13.2010 - CD v1.25 / driver v197.45).

--------------------------

New Features

Note: If you are a GeForce GTX 480/470 owner and are trying to enable 3D Vision, please download the 197.41 GeForce graphics and 3D Vision drivers.
I just got my 470. Why do I need to use older drivers? Link for me?
