Starcraft 2 and WTF? Rated good but really does nvidia even play the games???
  1 / 3
Like the title says WTF nvidia, have you even played the game? This game is serious garbage in 3d, not even close to the "good" rating it was given. Get your stuff together and im am also going to call the better business burial and lodge a complaint...........again.
So whats the work around this time, stand on one foot while i twurl to the left and recite the the lords prayer backwards?

Its like 3d vision is the greatest thing to ever happen to gaming then you take all that goodness and put it in the hands of a bunch of retarded chimps. I swear if i was to walk into your offices i would be confrounted by a bunch of hair ass monkeys flinging their crap on the wallls and typewriters everywhere.

what a waste, pure and simple. I really hope someone comes out soon with something to put your stupid 3d solution under and provide a working alternative to the trash heap you call 3d vision.

lol relax....deep breaths....

SC2 is really good in 3D with the latest CD Driver update, but its not perfect. Separation/convergence values aren't uniformly applied between the cut-scenes, still menu scenes and in-game top-down isometric views, so you either need to adjust between each transition or configure to in-game view and then use Ctrl-T to disable 3D during cut-scenes and menus.

The latest patch allows you to increase Depth, I use 50%, and adjust Convergence for an excellent 3D experience. Just hover your mouse over an object like a base structure, but focus on the object itself with your eyes, then adjust convergence so that the mouse cursor becomes a single image. You may need to adjust slightly with air units, but you should be able to find a setting that works well for both.

Also, you have to disable the 3D portraits (in settings) because they use the same depth/separation values as the cut-scenes which are off relative to the top-down 3D view. But ya I replayed the campaign with the new 3D profile and would say it is indeed a Good experience. Once they fix the cut-scene/menu offsets, 3D profiles, and make health bars/cursors 3D at object depth it'll be perfect in 3D.

Do you know how to adjust Convergence? You have to enable it in the NVCP under 3D Vision, there's a button to enable advanced key features. Most games do require some tweaking of Convergence or the separation values are going to be off. I expect this is why 3D Vision Ready titles have locked Convergence values, to save people from this kind of frustrating rageface experience.

In any case, SC2 does work fine once you tweak it like I said with the latest drivers, looks great in the actual in-game portion, far from perfect and you do need to make some adjustments, but you can see some screenshots I posted in this thread: http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?s=&...t&p=1101002

Also as a bit of an aside, 3D and 3D Vision are pretty cutting edge technology, if you have a low threshold or tolerance for troubleshooting and the teething pains that are virtually guaranteed with this kind of tech, you may want to revisit it in a few years once it becomes more mature.

Sorry but 20% depth (only achived by completely reducing convergence to ZERO) is not a rated "good". That is hardly better than vanilla (2d). After 2 years Nvidia, TWO YEARS of your solution and you still cant get this 3d solution to work fully or get the developers onboard with you, what are you doing that causes gamemakers to run in the other direction when you walk in the room.

This is not a step in the right direction, more like a slide to the left and a "shucks guys" "dont know".

I have to agree with Cravin 2 a point. It is frustrating to spend all this money and get mediocre results. Unfortunately, this is what we early adopters get When it does work, it is great. I do feel there are some health issues not being addressed with 3D.

Again, did you even bother trying it? It works great for me at 50% depth, not 20%. Everything in-game lines up perfectly, even the 2D mouse cursor and health bars. You just have to set Convergence correctly. If you're having trouble calibrating this correctly yourself, hit Ctrl F7 in-game then navigate to:

%:\\Users\%username%\Documents\NVStereoscopic3D.LOG

Open up "SC2" with Notepad and replace these two lines:
StereoSeparation=0.06535968 (3d85db4c)
StereoConvergence=25.73163986 (41cdda66)
Your login screen will be broken, so will cut-scenes and menus, so you'll either need to adjust Convergence on-the-fly between transitions or disable 3D with Ctrl-T, but your in-game 3D should be perfect with good depth, separation and even pop-out when available. These problems are not Nvidia's fault, they're Blizzard's fault for not uniformly applying their offset values in different game instances. Once Blizzard fixes this as detailed in MikeZ's post, or alternately, render cursor and health bars at correct 3D object depth, then 3D Vision should be perfect.

Here's a few more examples below:
