I don't have a college degree in the mystical arts of java folder navigation.. It's the single worst video tutorial series I've ever seen... if its even a tutorial... i don't have 3 hours to waste scrying for divine answers in the cryptic life journey of helifax...

Please try if installation of the 3D fix via 3D Fix Manager works for you. Installation procedure of this fix is semi-automated (Optifine and Java have to be installed manually but 3D Fix Manager will guide you to the websites for downloading this if it isn't installed yet). Installation and configuration of the fix itself is automated with this tool. I only tested this with a clean installation of Minecraft + Optifine and no other mods and it worked for me. Good luck!
Here you can download 3D Fix Manager: http://helixmod.blogspot.de/2017/05/3d-fix-manager.html
For me it worked with:
[.]Minecraft 1.12.2[/.]
[.]OptiFine 1.12.2 HD U D1 (https://optifine.net/downloads)[/.]
[.]Java JRE 1.8.0_144 (x64)[/.]
[.]Max Payne 3 driver profile (this is automatically installed by 3D Fix Manager)[/.]
[.]Mike's Shaderpack (automatically installed and set by 3D Fix Manager)[/.]
[.]Both fullscreen and windowed mode works for me in game[/.]

ok all the files were put in the right location, and theres a difference when minecraft starts, theres a splash screen for the opengl wrapper.
but when it starts up minecraft window just goes black and stays that way. I've tried toggeling a few of the shortcuts, and used f11, when i return from having f-11'ed it is just a broken white screen.
prior to that it's a broken black screen. i have more then one monitor. though the second monitor is on a totally different graphics card. so it shouldn't be an issue..
i need -live- help to get this set up right. theres waay too many factors involved...
way too much to explain that lacks explanation and way too much to test...

some thingies to note:
my minecraft is run from twitch, which uses forge.
im on minecraft 1.7.10
I've installed 8u161 (aka 1.8.0_161) to comply with N3philium's setup, but i still have 1.8.0_144 installed. i didn't remove old versions. and I've no idea if its using the old one still or the new one..?
my pc is a i7 990x intel cpu, and a seahawk gforce 1080 hd gtx gpu.
um, my nvidia control panel it 8.1.950.0
my monitor is a dell S2816DG vie display port,
ᅟᅟᅟwith g-sync turned off. 2560x1440 currently at 120hz instead of 144 due to a 12 foot cable that runs along the ceiling and down through a robot arm my monitor is on X.X;
oh my windows is win 7 ultimate 64 bit.
ᅟᅟᅟI've no idea what updates i have,
ᅟᅟᅟI've a few turned off so it stops trying to push win 10 on me...
I've 48gb of ram,
i have a second and third monitor, on a different graphics card:
ᅟ"MSI Radeon 6850 Cyclone Power"
ᅟᅟrunningᅟmonitor2(Left) at 1440x900 vie hdmi port.
ᅟᅟᅟᅟᅟᅟᅟmonitor3(right) at 1440x900 vir dvi port.
ᅟᅟᅟᅟextended desktop yes, used for gaming no.
ᅟᅟᅟᅟthey handle web surfing, editing,
ᅟᅟᅟᅟand all the messenger programs im on X_X
um i cant think of anything else i need to explain. let me know if im missing details...
Oh,
nvidia control panel > Set up stereoscopic 3D >
☑ Enable stereoscopic 3D > Stereoscopic 3D display type: Dell 3D/G-Sync LCD
humm maybe ill try setting that to > Stereoscopic 3D display type: 3D Vision Discover.
also, i don't have optifine installed. i was told it was going to conflict with my boyfriends server.
were running direwolf20 with 170 mods... @.@ but none of them are graphic. Smartmoving is a must-for-us. so its got chickencodecore required. still not sure if that's relevant. I sure do want shaders! but ill wait till 3dVision works first...
time to go test with 3d vision discover setting enabled...
PS: seriously.. how much obscure information does a person need to give these days! X.x;;;;

nope now its just grey...
when it was __not__ in 3d vision discover it was black. (del/gsync something something mode.)
when it returns from a full screen with f11 attempt, it is white and stays that way ever after till i alt-f4 and begin again...

This did not work for me at all. I was able to figure out things enough to get the Loader for the Wrapper to show, so I know I'm loading the wrapper and have it attached to the correct javaw.
I tried doing a base version of the game, with no mods installed but Optifine HD. What happens is it gets stuck in a loop....
GL error 0x0501: Invalid value at pre-useProgram
GL error 0x0501: Invalid value at final
And it freezes the game. I don't know if something changed that broke the ability for the wrapper to work. I am using the latest Optifine. Does anyone have solutions?

For me the wrapper for minecraft worked on my PG278QR 3d Vision Monitor and GTX 1080Ti, but the whole procedure was error-prone I think. Also one has to stick with the 1.10.2 forge version/ mods for Minecraft.
Concerning SLI, via Nvidia Control Panel one can create a profile for the javaw.exe. Sadly choosing AFR Sli, one does lose out some frames instead of single GPU. Thus this is not recommended.
I hope the new NVlink technology in the Nvidia RTX cards will make 2 GPU as a logical unit, and work with OpenGL. Although I coincide with the views that the CPU is limiting the game (escpecially when having high frame rates), in case of 3D, I always found that the newer hardware boosted the performance in minecraft with 3D Vision on. I am unsure why this was the case, my GTX 1080 was performing poorer than GTX 1080Ti given the same RAM/CPU. Also, optifine mod is a must I would say, because one can test many more performance settings.
Concerning the 3DVisionWrapper.ini file in the 3DVisionFix folder of the zipped patch (to be extracted to the java binaries in use for minecraft), the line "ForceNVProfileLoad" can be set to true for the "GameProfile.3dcfg" file to load (after this, one does not need nvidia inspector to set the exe to a 3D compatible game), and another line for the setting fullscreen via the ini can also be beneficial for the performance.
Again, whereas AFR did engage both GPU, although suboptimally, Sli wasn't working with the provided 3dcfg file (again the line "ForceNVProfileLoad=true") sadly, even when in the readme something else was told about it. But I did experience a better single gpu performance somehow (less eye-sync issues when movind).
A proper driver profile might help.
Playing minecraft in 3D is really rewarding I think, especially with the SEUS pack shaders, and as long as one is not running and scanning the landscape with very fast movements. I set render distance to 7-9, as anything higher is causing FPS drops below 50 (one always has to half the value given by minecraft info panel, in my case 100-120 fps). Also I set my convergence values via ALT-F5/F6 for good 3D effect. Standing high really feels different with 3D ,-)
