Currently what is the best 3D monitor available in the market?
I have no experience with big screen gaming and my 27" is currently the biggest PC screen I've used.
It might be good but I would find it weird playing Counter-Strike on a massive display at least initially.
I saw windows running on a 45" ish TV and you could not really read the text well from the couch.
720p and a massive screen solves that problem and I have to assume the image is sharp.
I'm mostly curious if there are certain games that don't work well on the big screen.
For instance twitch shooters etc.
The games that suffer on big screens from far away are MMO's, or anything with text that you need to read. But most MMO's allow you to resize the HUD or the text anyway, so its not really a big problem. You can also change the size of the text and icons in Windows, so that should help.
I used my Samsung 52" TV as my monitor for 3 years without any problems, and at the time I was raiding in WoW 4 nights a week, as well as playing a whole range of other games.
Ironically, my 27" Asus gives me a bigger image than my 52" TV did from 8 feet away.

Before I started 3D Gaming, I played on a Samsung 52" as well from 4ft away. When I had a 46" LG Passive TV for several weeks I sat at 4ft as well.
I know Libertine sits 3-4 ft from his 46 inch samsung also.
~4-6' in front of a 43" TV.
Generally I sit in a chair at a desk with 1-3 screens all day at work so the difference is more spiritual+emotional+transitional than actual image size.
Somehow planted in the center of my living room and 5.1 sound in front of a TV with a 360 controller in hand does not "feel" like "work" while gaming at a desk+workstation does.
You can possibly avoid the losing sync to projector problem by setting Stereoscopic mode to 'always' in NVidia control panel. That leaves it in 3D mode, 120Hz, even at the desktop. This might make it fuzzier like my H5360, but might not here. That way there is no switch when you start games, and no loss of sync, and no need to hit the menu.
I always leave my PC in 3D mode but still the projector forgets 3D settings.
Another thing to try is the Save Settings in Picture menu. Not sure it's related to 3D settings, but Save Settings sounds like what you want.
I already tried that. No it is not related to 3D setting. It is just for picture settings.
You could also try the User1/2 settings mode, on the off chance that it will save 3D state for that user mode feature. Might be related to the Save Settings, not clear from manual. Worth a try.
I already tried that but those settings are also for picture only.
In the NVidia setup wizard, they ask what your gaming setup is for the emitter. The choice there determines how strong the infra-red signal is that the emitter puts out. If you choose the LAN gaming settings, it's the weakest signal to avoid interfering with neighboring computers. Or... your projector infra red remote.
I tried it, I could use remote but then the sync signal for 3D glasses was not strong enough and it started flickering randomly breaking the 3D effect.
The reason you can't use the remote is because the 3D signal is swamping the remote. You can point the pyramid at your screen/wall instead, which usually makes it possible to use the remote. If that's not enough, try one of the lower strength settings so you can still use your remote. I have this same problem with H5360 when 3D is on.
When I tried pointing the 3D emitter at the wall, the signal was still strong enough to interfere with the projector remote.
Lastly, if it's not solvable, I'd encourage you to play with the projector for a week or so before sending it back anyway, as you weren't sure you wanted a projector at all to begin with. Minus the hassles, you will be able to determine if you like the idea at all.
I will keep it for at least a week to give it a try. I like the projector but this 3D issue is very annoying. It should be a simple firmware fix for BenQ. This projector has been out for a while, I am surprised that nobody complained about this. May be people did but BenQ didn't do anything about it. So probably I will end up returning it and may be try another model.

Bummer. That's a pretty stupid programming mistake on their part.
Looked at their manual, and it seems like they sort of expect PC to be connected via VGA cable.
If you don't need a long cable run, it'd be worth trying a VGA cable for your connection. I used VGA for my H5360 for awhile, and it worked well.

I also thought so and already tried out VGA cable with no difference.
Double bummer. I'm pretty much out of ideas.
If there is any way to have it avoid losing sync, that's probably the key to avoiding the problem.
I would expect it to not resync if your desktop were at game resolution, 120Hz, and 3D mode was already on. But, no cure for bad programmers.
Its not limited to just projectors, my Pioneer VSX-1021 always switches back to TV input during the blank spot between POST and WIN7. I've gotten so I just stand there waiting for it to happen (so I can turn the knob back to PC) or keep the remote handy.
Some of these programers really need to rethink their 'auto switching inputs'. I mean there ought to be a 'no, I really do want THIS input I don't care if there's a signal there or not' option. :)
I just got Benq 710ST and it looks good so far.
I have got one annoying issue with this projector. I have connected this projector to my PC via HDMI cable. Whenever I turn on 3D mode (Nvidia 3D Vision) on this projector and then start nvidia 3d vision test , it gets blank for a while (i see blue screen searching for signal) and when I see picture back, it turns off the 3D mode. I have to turn 3D mode back on. When you quit 3d vision test then again it gets blank and turns 3D mode off. So basically you have to turn 3D mode on every time you watch 3D. Is there any solution to this problem? Are we supposed to use the vga cable for PC?
Yeah - This is another annoying thing about this projector. I was able to fix the unresponsive remote by changing a remote setting on the projector menu. I don't remember exactly what it was called off the top of my head... but there is a setting that fixed that issue for me. I also have a harmony remote and set the command sequence to enable 3d... and I haven't really thought about this since then since I only have to press one quick button on the remote.

I also have a harmony remote. I tried to add a sequence of commands but it did not work for me. I have harmony 700 remote. One sequence is at maximum 5 commands and to turn on Nvidia 3D vision requires more than 5 commands (menu, 6 down, 1 left, menu, menu). How did you do that with just one button? Did you change the inter-key delay?

I did menu, up, left, menu, menu. Should be exactly 5, and yes, I did tweak the inter-key delay a little bit. I think it's set at like 1100ms... but I'm not at that computer right now so not positive. Play around with it a bit though and you should be able to get it to work.

There is a delay after you select nvidia 3D vision. How did you insert that delay? My sequence can select but the menu does not exit because the two menu commands after the selection are not received by the projector. Could you please look up your settings and tell me the values you used for inter-key delay and input-delay?

Well after experimenting with the BenQ W710ST I decided to return it. The firmware on this projector was flawed. I wish if there was a button on the remote to directly activate different 3D modes. It was very annoying to turn on the 3D Sync every time you use 3D glasses.
Newer 3D projectors are HDMI 1.4a and do not support 3d vision. So I am looking for 1080p 3D projector which supports Nvidia 3DTV play. I could also use it to watch 3D blu rays with full HD. Games are 720p anyways.
