3D Vision users i need your feedback.
Hi. Can you please turn on a game with 3d effect on, put your glasses on, look to the side and move your hand in front of your glasses. Now turn 3d vision off and wave your hand again. Do you see a difference? Do you see kind of micro stuttering effect on your hand with 3d vision on? Can you exactly tell the difference between glasses on and off? Thanks

Natural effect of blocking out your eyes momentarily, its like making your eyes see in frames.

OK, only one reply so I assume that you all agree with a statement that it is something normal. If that so then why are you so ecstatic about 3d when this effect is Sooooo annoying when you playing games. Especially fpp. For me it's a deal breaker.

What exactly do you think active shutter glasses are? Why would you expect to see anything other than a stuttering effect on your hand? The shuttering operation of the glasses are sync to the displays frames, not your hand! Do you have fresh paint on the walls or something?

So you see no stutter in the games at all?

Not sure we are all talking about the same thing. Waving your hand while wearing the glasses gives you a stroboscopic effect, because each eye is getting 60 FPS. That is stroboscopic. The glasses are dark part of the time, blocking out all light. In the game itself, they are alternating, so that when one eye is dark, the other is seeing the full screen. Thus, you don't get a strobe effect there. While playing games, I don't ever see strobe effects. However, there is a setting during the Setup Wizard that allows you to change the frequency if you are seeing flicker out of the corner of your eye, especially with other lights that may be running at 60Hz too. You might try that, if it seems like 'flicker', instead of 'strobe', or maybe 'stutter.' Not sure what you mean by stutter in games. Nothing I see would I describe as stutter.

No I do not have a problem stuttering problem, I game using a 120Hz input. Some people are more sensitive to the cycling of shutter glasses. What display are you using? What resolution and refresh are you using? Is there a particular game that is causing the problem? What GPU are you using? What drivers? There are some known problems with anti-aliasing causing stuttering in games, dep[ending on the settings. First you talk about the glasses, now you say it's in the game? Elaborate and provide as many details as possible, I'm sure it's something that a community member can get straightened out for you. You are correct that we would not be so ecstatic about 3d if there is some effect that is Sooooo annoying. My 3D experience is more along the lines of buttery smooth

My screen is Benq 2411T, graphic is GTX 690, cpu 3770k oc to 4.3, drivers are up to date, rez 1920/1080 120hz. I can see 3d effect no problem with ghosting from little to non but stroboscopic effect is on every single game and movie and it is Sooooo annoying.

Still not sure we are talking about the same thing, because I would not describe stuttering as stroboscopic. But they are related in that they are some lower frequency artifacts. If it is game stuttering, here is some deep analysis of the stuttering problem with SLI setups: http://techreport.com/review/21516/inside-the-second-a-new-look-at-game-benchmarking That is a good read. They don't test 690, but they did test 590, which is very similar. If I understand 690 correctly, it still runs as SLI, even though there are two chips on a single card. If that's true, then you'd get the stuttering described in that analysis. Try this: disable SLI on your card, using NVidia Inspector to modify the profile for a given game. Or possibly you can do that directly from NVidia control panel. If you can disable SLI, then try it, let us know what you see.

Just stumbled across this as well: https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/529245/3d-vision/for-3dvision-often-vsync-must-be-disabled-in-game-settings-and-set-to-on-in-nvcontrol-panel/ Try disabling vSync as an experiment as well.

Goodman what you ar experiencing is normal. it is an active shutter glasses (aka gong dark in each eye). if you look outside on a sunny day with the glasses on you will likely experience very serious strobing. it is not very pleasant, but these are 3D glasses, not sunglasses. when you a playing games you should notice 0 strobing at all, as the screen is syncing with the glasses and each eye gets an image at the correct time.

Longer i am looking at it the more convinced i am getting that few things adding up to create this effect. I think best description of it is "distortion". When i move camera quickly the image is getting distorted. I think its a little of ghosting effect plus some of strobing of shutter glasses and maybe i am a bit sensitive to it as well. You know when you switch to 120hz (144hz with Benq 2411T) from 60hz of previous screen and you see this smoothness in games with add on of GTX 690 you expecting a bit more i guess. Can you tell me actually, is 3d for you when quickly moving camera as sharp looking as 2d with 120hz?

I found the solution. Thanks to baragon. I had to turn off v-sync in game and force it on in nvidia control panel. Distortion is gone! Cool. Still its not 120hz smoothness like 2d mode but good old 60hz and v-sync feels clunky but oh well, its 3d clunky now. I have to figure it out how to fix movies now. Thanks all for feedback.
