Hey all,
I have been looking for any word on some NEW DLP PRojectors for nVidia 3D Vision.. I have seen the Guide for Moniotrs and such and whilst some new Monitors have been made available the DLP PRojectors I have yet to see any word..
And since CEDI was just closed out a while back has anybody read any NEW News on 3D Vision Projectors??

At an event, recently, an nVidia representative said that 3D vision was legacy. They are not actively supporting it any more. They are, however, trying to jump onto the VR bandwagon, and clump 3D vision along with that.
As far a projectors go, 3D vision is dead as far as manufacturers are concerned. Any new projector will most likely use industry standard frame packing at 60Hz as opposed to the older 120Hz 3D Vision method. This means that although the 3D experience will be the same, the 2D experience will certainly not. We will be stuck at 60Hz and 60fps, as were the early dark ages of the flat panel monitors. For note, all gaming grade monitors nowadays come at 144Hz as standard, 120Hz minimum.
Some people swear that they don't notice a difference between 60Hz and 120Hz+. Good for them. Unfortunately I feel they are worlds apart.
So, short answer is that most probably a good 3D Vision projector with proper 120Hz support won't be made any time soon.
New 3D packing projectors, however, are already dime a dozen. They do not need to be 3D vision ready as frame packing is supported via 3D play @ 60Hz (60fps per eye).

Hi Rage,
Thnx for thwat info. I see the 3D Vision is dead but was wondering if the new 3D Vision 2 will be coming soon??
IF so that will be fine with me but any news on when the new 3D will come out by nVidia?? I remeber they did this just before releasing nVidia 3D Vision they dropped support for the older 3D system they had but at least the finally released 3D Vidion and now that is legacy when will the new 3D Come into play..
WEll come to find out I was right 3D Play does NOT support 3D Surround so that is out for now.. Hopefully nVidia releases their new 3D solution soon..

Read about Benq W1070, for me work's good with 3dVision in games and films.
For 3dVison You must change original BenQ inf on Acer H5360 3D DLP Projector EDID Override.inf
Everything work's fine but resolution in game in 3d is 720p (1280x720x120Hz) only.
Perhaps model W1070+ offers the same thing - I do not know.

Do you need to wear your glassers upsidedown or do they work properly with the BenQ.. Also can I use nvidia drivers to get 3D Surround with 3 DLP PRojectors??

You have to use DLP-Link glasses with the W1070, and you don't have to wear them upside-down. I have it, and it's a great unit. I'm pretty sure you can't do surround with 3DTV Play, but it might be possible with an EDID override to a 3D Vision projector. I'm not sure though, and it would be an expensive experiment if it failed.

I'm using 3d Vision Kit (glasses and emitter) for games and movies in 3d on my projector BenQ W1070. It's not experiment - it work's very good. Of course you need to use nVidia driver with enabled stereoscopic 3d.
Buy a new version of glasses 3d Vision2 - much better range than old (first) version (I get both version).
You don't need use DLP-link glasses. I dont't have any DLP-link glasses at all.
Change the original BenQ inf takes about five seconds in Device Manager. You can come back in the next 5 seconds to the original projector inf. You have to download Acer H5360 3D DLP Projector EDID Override.inf first. I'm using BenQ W1070 with 3dVision almost a year - it's great solution for 3D.
I wear glasses normaly (not upsidedawn) - at first I thought you were joking.

Yes Wearing the glasses upside down is a known issue when using non certified 3D Monitors adn projectors.. ;)
I was wondering if 3D Surround is possible since you got the nVidia glasses working with a inf fix??

I have only one projector - I can't check it ;-)
I dont't use monitor at all for games and films.
If You realy, realy like 3D try SONY HMZ. It works in games and films 3D very good. For some people much better than projectors, tv, and monitors.
Sony has two weak features: resolution 720p (1280x720/60Hz per eye) but you will be pleasantly surprised at the quality of OLED 720p, and they are uncomfortable - and this is real problem - but some people make mods.
Used Sony HMZ T1/T2 cost about 400$ - it's realy worth this money.
Do you have to change the 3D menu to IR mode and Frame-sequential to activate your 3D vision glasses?
I have to enable 3D in MENU BenQ W1070 and change mode on Frame-sequential.
Procedure turn on 3d on BenQ W1070 with Nvidia 3dVision glasses:
I'm writing from memory ;-)
Equipment:
3D Vision kit (glasses and emitter)
BenQ W1070 projector with the modified inf (Acer H5360)
Nvidia graphics card
good quality HDMI cable
1. turn on 3D stereoscopic in Nvidia Manager or using 3DV Toggler (good, small program for activate / deactivate 3D in nVidia driver)
2. set resolution 1280x720/ 120Hz in Nvidia Manager
3. For watching movie 3d: turn Stereoscopic Player / Nvidia Player - set what type of film such as SBS and the format eg 16: 9 (auto works badly).
or turn on the game (you have to set the game resolution to 1280x720p). If you set a different resolution 3d will not work.
4. take the remote control of BenQ projector and turn the 3D mode and then switch to Frame-sequential.
and it works.
