Good day everyone,
I'm one of the lucky one who have been allowed to participate in the first phase of the Starcraft 2 Beta.
I was very surprised to see the IR emitter activate itself upon starting the game.
Here's a few points on the 3D I've noticed already:
- Global 3D experience is very much like what we see in Warcraft 3
- Like most RTS games, Health and Energy bars over units are drawn at screen depth. (By default, thanks to Blizzard, those bars doesn't show unless you hold down the ALT key)
- There's still a convergence problem with the units portrait at the bottom of the screen
- Special effects look very good in 3D, except maybe the green fume from the vespene gas geysers.
- Didn't see any ghosting in-game (Samsung 2233RZ)
- I manage to get pretty good pop-out effect when zooming-in and adjusting the convergence, but to be honest, who is really zooming-in when playing against another human player? I still managed to find a proper setting when zoomed-out so that my flying units were one inch out of the screen.
I played only one game so far and got totally pwned, but hey... at least it was in 3D ;)

Can't comment on other companies, but for Blizzard Entertainment games Alpha versions have NDA's, Beta versions don't.

It cool to try, but unplayable in serious battle. Troube with game cursor - hard to manage units fast, you must to refocus everytime you want to select anyone. Healthbars is serious isseu, too. 10-20 rectangles in level of gui in the heat of battle - and you want to set 3d off. And that not all, there are some graphic artefacts, like this: http://img.picsa.ru/pictures/0/000/035/206/35206.jpg Some glow effect have a bad position in 3d, always flickering around some objects.

It takes a Village to raise a Child, but only 1 Idiot to raze the Village.
