I have the older driver installed so should be able to use Helix. If you could only get one which would you choose and why?
Thanks!

Legend of Grmirock is a very simple dungeon crawler game, the game size is less than a Gigabite, and there is only one starting dungeon...
Kingdoms of amalur is an awesome hack n slash rpg with a good story about fate. if i could get only one of those, of course Kingdoms of amalur would be the choice, yes HELIX FIX is working well on kingdoms of amalur.
Legends of grimrock work good enough in 3d but there are some problems yet, and it does not get close to KOA reckoning, but of course there will be people that love those old dungeon crawling games that will say it is awesome... but even i liking it, i know it is a good game, but i would never go with Legend of Grimrock over KOA: Amalur.

I say Amular, but make sure you get the Helix fix for both games. I could easily see someone picking Grimrock over Amular. They are both very different. Grimrock is old school dugngeon crawl that oozes atmosphere but it's very simple and confined to one dungeon. Amular is EPIC sprawling game that could easily take over 100 hours and still not see everything. Amular is also much more fun in the action department.
I have the latest drivers and the fix for Amular works fine.

I own both and I say amalur. Grimrock is more of a niche game. More chances you will like amalur and has more length. You can take it the long way and do side quests and everything or just follow main story. That and game offers dlc expansions. People hate dlc but length to cost are ussually well worth it.

I have both games, and they are both very nice looking if you apply the fixes. I got bored after 20 hours in Amalur, but I have a short attention span. I love Grimrock as I played Captive on the Atari ST for years as a kid, and that too was a Dungeon Master clone. Plus Grimrock is only about £8, I think KoA is on special offer on STEAM though.
IMO the smart money is on KOA unless you have a real love for Dungeon Master clones...

Or if you want to wait can get grimrock now. Its cheap and will at most drop to $5.00. Amalur will sooner or later have an edition with all dlc and a good price.

Really, I bought amalur with great expectations but I see it average at best. Graphics are awful, like world of warcraft but with less variety, my first 10 hours where in a forest without any kind of personality, caves and cities are dull, it's really ugly. The quests are meh, other than the main quest, they are average, combat is good but if I want a hack n slash there are far better options. After 10 hours I couldn't get myself to continue playing, the main story is great but other than that, it isn't worth it.

Get both! Maybe get Grimrock first because it's cheaper and shorter, but Amalur is the better game IMO. As you can see from the posts above though, it's quite a polarizing game though: some people love it, some hate it. I love it, so far (12hrs in).

Cheers for the advice. I went for KOA:R because I thought I would get more bang for my very limited bucks. And I am loving it. It defo has an epic feel to it and is obviously similar in style and many gameplay aspects to WoW; this is not a bad thing. I actually got a rose tinted nostalgic pang when playing it. I tend to solo MMORPGs (I know, kinda defeats the object) and KOA:R feels like a very fleshed out MMORPG soloing experience. I have only just started playing it, can I assume the world structute is like WOW too - a number of large open zones with hub towns/villages? Hope so.
Thanks to Helix - loving the graphics style too. I love the solid, chunky style. Brilliant, with a little toyification. I would like a little more toyification in this game tbh but the cutscenes seem to have a closer FoV causing the dialogue box to cut into the scenes. Never mind.
