Lolx. this is not a patch that fixes the problem. someone on this forum found a way to alt-tab out of the game and enable disable 3d vision serivce or something which increased the 3d vision performance but messed the shadows up. this seems like the same deal. same wrong shadow depth issue is persistent here as well.
Well Guys, in all honesty i dont think this is ever going to be fixed. But this 3D is better than no 3D so i am now finally going to play the game after waiting like 2 months for a fix.

Well since it's already printed on the box it's probably too late to do that, and I doubt they'd issue a recall or even a second edition for something so small. I do think Nvidia should take it down from its "Excellent" rating though considering this probably won't get patched. The game is definitely anywhere between Good and Poor now, depending on your ability to tune out the shadows.
I just hope Nvidia learns some sort of lesson from this about letting developers advertise their game as 3DV Ready without making damn sure the final gold version is, in fact, 3D Vision Ready. If they don't, they can pretty much kiss any trust they've created in that logo goodbye. I'm definitely now taking the logo with a grain of salt and remaining skeptical of every game advertised as 3D Vision Ready before release.

Is there any way to turn off the shadows completely - I only find the option to tone it down a notch. Yes, it's reaching for a straw but maybe "no shadows & 3D > shadows & No 3D"

well i dont think you can disable shadows but a simple workaround is to put depth at minimum and increase the convergence. that gave me a good 3d effect with shadows no more in your face.
Once again, its a workaround not a solution.

What makes this really sad is that some of you may recall a game called Arcania:A Gothic Tale. Disregarding the gameplay and how un-Gothic of a game it was, let's take a look at it on a technical aspect. When the game came out it was horrible to play in 3D. We are not just talking about 2D shadows, but things like nameplates and light effects, from torches for instance, rendered at screen depth. The developers made a patch to add 3D support on their own, with no help from Nvidia as far as a I believe, and it made the game breathtaking to play in 3D. Here we got a game that, supposedly, Nvidia is working with the developers on for 3D Vision support and it seems one hand doesn't know what the other is doing.
The more I think about it, the more it pisses me off. I am probably one of the biggest 3D Vision fanboys there is. I promote it a lot of times on game forums and open myself up to ridicule from people that are ignorant on how it actually works on the PC, or just want to flame it for the sake of entertaining themselves. I was skeptical about this patch fixing the issue when I first saw the patch notes released on the GOG.com forums, and even got ribbed for wanting a confirmation that the 3D Vision issues had been fixed.

This is what CDPR said on the gog.com forum in regards to 3D Vision and patch 1.3:
[quote]3D Vision was tested like every other change and it works without any issue. If you have any problems with it please contact our technical support.

So, according to CDPR 3D Vision is now "working without any issue". This is obviously not the case. In order to make CDPR aware that 3D Vision still isn't working correctly, I recommend that everyone here contacts TW2 technical support about the remaining 3D Vision issue, as Andrzej Kwiatkowski from CDPR wants you to do. This is done here: tw2support@cdprojektred.com

It's a shame you can't turn off shadows; I wonder if that's because of the type of lighting CDPR used. Either way I'm not a fan of the flat 3D effect cutting out depth and increasing convergence gives you since I'm used to using 100% depth at all times, so TW2 in 3D is officially off the table for me unless CDPR does the unlikely and releases another patch for 3D Vision. This last patch makes me wonder if a true fix is even possible or if there's something fundamental about the engine (perhaps the lighting) that will just never perfectly gel with stereoscopic rendering.

How bad shadow problem exacly is? Could someone take few screenshots, where shadows are bad and "good"?
