3D Vision blocked and not working since 290.36 Generic 3D-Display Mode
Greetings everyone!

I am a happy user of the Samsung SA950 3D-Display in combination with the 3D-Vision Kit for half a year now.
I do know that this Display is NOT officially supported by Nvidia 3D-Vision BUT still it did work perfectly until now.
Since the newly released Nvidia driver 290.36, "Generic Displays" such as the SA950 got forced-blocked by the 290.36 3D Vision driver. That means that EVERY game that used to work perfectly in 3D Vision (Generic Display Mode) do not work anymore since the new driver embargo.

What you will get now is, after you enabled 3D Vision within the game, is a red warning message telling you: "VESA emitter cable is disconected or stereoscopic 3D is off on TV".
Since this cannot be the case, proven on any previous Nvidia driver, I assume that this new "disfunction" is purely meant to be a software-wise blockade to piss off any 3D-Vision customer with a Generic 3D-HDTV/Display that were able to use 3D Vision before.

Please state this message NOT to be a request for support of the Samsung SA950, since I am aware of the fact that this is not possible and not allowed here to discuss on the forums. Think of it more like a complain of the new driver redesign with 290.36 on how it deals with the "Generic 3D-Display Mode" in 3D-Vision.

So please, Nvidia... please just leave that Driver-mode as it was before.

Best wishes,
David

-Using the previous Nvidia Driver for now.

UPDATE: It has come to my attention that "CRT-Mode" is missing in the Nvidia Beta Driver 290.36, which is causing the problem.

I have verified your findings.
Nvidia has changed their drivers in this way, so from now on people will need to deal with this message on their own, and using old drivers will kill game support.
The good news is there's a simple way to eliminate the message.

Hi, kenion

Are you using a real 3D Vision hardware or just an emulator ?

(English is not my native language. Please forgive me if I have made any mistake.)

The real 3D Vision Kit and I always have been using it. Unsurported Displays such as the SA27950 used to work perfectly in CRT mode.
I'd also use a 3D-Vision ready monitor with the same kit before but upgraded to the SA27950 (I have both monitors though).
I hope CRT Mode is not intendet to be missing in 290.36 and that it is a bug or simply not implemented yet. Otherwise I cannot use 3D-Vision anymore and all the hardware that comes with it.

If this holds true and the Generic CRT mode is indeed gone or intentionally locked, this is a bad turn of events.
I'm in the same boat using the S27A950D with 3D vision without issues up until now. With the 290.x beta drivers I too couldn't get things to work anymore but thought it was some beta issue.

I had a support ticket opened a few days ago to ask about the Generic CRT mode but the official statement is that "they may not be able to get 3D Vision stereoscopic 3D working" which contains about zero information.
