The standalone expansion to Arcania is available on Steam for $15. It claims to have 4 to 8 hours of game time on the Steam page. It also allows you to import your character from the original game. I know it is not a true RPG, but Arcania was a fun action/lite RPG experience and this is more of the same. The 3D works just as well as the original patched game did, which means it looks fantastic.
Here is a 3D screenshot I took of the game with increased depth. No one can complain about the lack of depth or 3D with this game!

WOW! That's some of the best depth I've ever seen. Is the game rated 3D vision ready? any issues? Also, is the game any good and do I need to play Arcania to fully appreciate the standalone expansion.

This expansion was for Arcania:A Gothic Tale which is based on the world of the RPG games Gothic 1-3. This game is light on the RPG aspect and leans more to the action side than those earlier games but I find the action is pretty fun and the game looks great. You don't need to play the previous game as it allows you to create a new character that will already be level 28 and have good equipment based on that level range to start.
The developers implemented their own 3D for the original game with the 1.1 patch and it's already working at start for this standalone expansion. What I find to be remarkable is that before the 3D path for the original game, the game was horrible in 3D with serious 2D shadows and lighting issues throughout. I will go out on the limb and say it is the best implementation of 3D by a developer, alongside the Avatar game, that was not a "3D Vision Ready" supported title that I have seen and I have played a lot of games in 3D.

Hehe looks awesome!!!!
With a few tricks it looks awesome in 3D Surround (as ArcaniA did). However the toll on performance is pretty big!
@ 5230x1050 I get around 20-25fps
@ 4981x900 I get around 24-30fps
@ 4252x768 I get around 38-42fps
This is with a GTX590 (Overclocked).
I can post the fix for fov and other stuff:)
