I start to play the game. But i like high convergence and in this case i tryed to use the newest 3Dmigoto with the old fix.
Its the original fix by mike_ar69 and bo3b.
And with that i changed something that the fix is easier to use. My file includes
- A Profile // now you dont need to change the profile
- the profile forces Vsync and triple buffering for better performance. All you need is to disable Vsync ingame. ( not 100% sure if that works correct with 3Dmigoto. Bo3b ?)
- the profile forces real 3D and in the green text are the important graphic settings for the fix
- 4 convergence Keys with different HUD depth
Numpad 6-9 (all with a delay!, because i mapped it to the controller) Numpad 6 for Cutscene, Numpad 7 for outside the Animus, Numpad 8 high convergence, Numpad 9 very high convergence
- I play this game with 80% depth
- l key for cycle HUD depth
- k key for toggle HUD on/off
How to install:
Download here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/wfahs29dnejfffq/3Dmigoto1.2.53_AC4.zip?dl=0
Copy paste the files next to the ac4bfsp.exe file. ...\Steam\steamapps\common\Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag\
Start the game. If 3D does not kick in then tab to the Desktop and back.
Graphic options: turn off Vsync and the rest like in the original fix.
1. Shadows: Shadows must be "very high" or lower, 'soft shadows' have not been fixed.
2. Ambient Occlusion: SSAO has not been fixed (or looked at) yet. Use "Off", or HBAO+(low).
3. World Detail: Setting to low gives a good FPS boost, but removes gameplay elements, so really needs to be on medium/high
4. Motion Blur: Must be set to OFF
5. PhysX = normal
Play
Problems: The same things like in the original fix. Animus and some smoke shadows.
With high convergence ( for low convergence too, but it is a bit better) the crosshair depth for the pistol. Change HUD depth for better aiming.
edit: performance 52-60 FPS stable in 3D. Sometimes it feels slower but thats the game.
Tested with Windows 10.

Thank you for the update to latest DLLs, setting up the hot keys, and testing it with that. Very cool.
I uploaded your file to the AWS for HelixMod and edited the page to make your zip file the default. I also added your comments and give you thanks for this latest update.
For performance, it should be fairly good, but I haven't profiled it recently, and also have no idea if Win10 affects this. Nothing different than normal 50% performance because of 3D. I don't think any new features of 3Dmigoto were used here, that would cause a slowdown.
For the vsync and triple buffering, I think that should be OK. People can always leave v-sync on in-game if they prefer that.

Yes i think the performance is a game issue. I play it in 1440p with high settings and no AA. It is okay but as example GTA V or Watch Dogs 2 with the same settings feels smoother. Thats what I mean.
I read in AC4 Forum that the best solution for performance is to activate triple buffering and Vsync with Nvidia and not ingame. That is it why it is included :)

Thanks for the update Zythus, that "HUD off" option would have been awesome when I played this first time. I like taking screenshots and I looked for this feature a long time.
I got an Alienware PC recently, with GTX1080 SLI, and I tried your fix, just wanted to check if the game still stutters in cities. There still are some small performance issues in cities, but now I can maybe call them "brief FPS drops" and no longer "stuttering/hitching"
Second thing I've tested is Rise of Tomb Raider, but I'm sorry to report that the game is still unplayable in Soviet Installation and Geothermal Valley maps. I will just have to concede that there is no hardware on this planet yet that can make one of the most beautiful 3D games playable. Strangely, the issue seems to go away with this new rig, if I switch off 3D. The old rig was still stutering, even with 3D off.
Anyway, just wanted to say that strangely your fix does not fix the shadows for me, and the hud is at screen depth. Pressing K switches off the HUD, and pressing L just moves it to the left a little, but it's not in depth. I'm on Windows 10 now, so maybe that's the cause.
I'll have to try the old fix, but I guess I need to mess around with the profiles first.
If you have an idea, or if someone else can confirm that the updated fix works with Win 10, please let me know.

Hmm i dont have SLI. Tested with Win 10, singel GPU 1080 and one screen. I have uninstall the fix with the .bat and the game.exe is on AC4 profile in Nvidia driver. Then i have reinstall only the fix and that works.
I think the profile uses the AC4 SLI settings. Maybe a problem with SLI ?
But i am interessed if someone else can confirm that the fix works with single GPU.

Thanks for the reply
I've just quickly tested single card, the fix looks great now. The HUD functions as intended now as well.
Did not play much, I'm in Havana on a sunny day. I've noticed that looking at the sun causes a constant heavy flickering.
So that's confirmation that the fix works in non-SLI. The old fix worked great in SLI. The main difference I can think of, for me, is the OS (Win 10 now versus Win 7 in the past).

One thing you can try for SLI is to edit the d3dx.ini. Go to the Profile section near the end and change this lines (comment)
0x20fdd1f9 = 0x00000001
0x00a879cf = 0x47814940
to
;0x20fdd1f9 = 0x00000001
;0x00a879cf = 0x47814940
But I think that does not help. But how knows.
Or try this d3dx.ini file. It includes the AC2 SLI settings.

Sorry i can not test it. It is only a try.
Otherwise i need to know wich profile works correct with SLI in Windows 10.
Thanks Zythus, unfortunately I've tried both methods and none works.
This is very strange, I remember playing this in SLI with no issues with the previous fix.
Bo3b, Mike, you might want to place a comment on Helixblog to advise users that SLI does not work.
I'm willing to test a previous fix if you have one about, which you could offer as an alternative for SLI users.
By the way, would anyone have any idea why I cannot change folder names in the Steam installation folder? None of the game folders can be renamed, and in the Assassins Creed 4 folder I cannot access the ShaderFixes folder and the Shader Cache, but I can access any other.
Windows 10 will make me hang myself. In order to apply the Hitman fix which required folder rename I had to create a new folder and move all the files. The HitmanTM folder is still there, cannot delete it, and will probably be there forever.
I've never been more humiliated in my life by a software that is supposed to serve me.
edit: I've logged off and now the Shader* folders no longer appear. I've also managed to delete the HitmanTM folder by deleting two empty subfolders first. Had not tried this yet.
Not sure this is less humiliating. Win10 kept telling me that I did not have permission.
And I still cannot rename any of the game folders in the Steam directory, it always says they're in use even if Steam is closed.

Try something like this. Even if it lists you as ok, still go through the steps. I've had cases where even though my privileges were already assigned, I was not able to "Change Permission"
I 'm on W7, this is for W8, but is the same.
I assume W10 is similar
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KX3Ev_MfyPM
If not search for "Take Ownership of Files" for W10.

Thanks D-Man11, I've read up on this extensively myself, was driving me crazy a couple of days ago.
So now I know a lot about ownership, inheritance, and other crap, things I've never had to worry about under Win7 because it just worked.
I've changed all permissions, I ensured my main user account is the administrator, I've enabled inherritance, etc. Mostly it's ok, but there is no way Win10 will let you change the name of the game folders in the Steam installation folder, because "the folders are in use". I'm sure I'll find other grotesque things with Win10, so i'm trying to pace myself.
Anyway, don't want to derail the thread and take up your guys time with this stuff.

Bo3b ?)
