The Witcher 2 in 3D Vision Official thread from NVIDIA

Great! That means that when CDP does fix it it will be even better :D

It became playable for me with the latest drivers but I could not play on über anymore so I dropped it since the meshes are not as detailed as the textures and look flat. The game looks better in 2D. But I guess they had to save on video memory somewhere and the meshes got the axe. Still, better a playable game than something that needs the next generation.

Can you define playable? How many FPS do you have in indoor locations?:D

this is the ONLY game THAT BEHAVES like this....
Hmmm, I noticed a similar problem with some of my call of duty titles, now that I think about it. That includes Black Ops and World at War at least ... and maybe a few others. I noticed that certain scenes, like the opening battle in the first mission of Black Ops (after leaving the bar), were completely unplayable in 3D (about an 80% reduction in frame rate over 2D). Others scenes were fine (50% as expected), but more often than not I would get a 60% frame rate reduction. For those games it was really all over the map. They never fixed it. I am currently experiencing nearly a 90% reduction in the opening cut scenes of the Witcher 2 (the guards rolling dice and beating on Geralt).

To NVIDIA: As consumers, we expect a "3D Vision Ready" title to have no more than a 50% reduction in frame rate over 2D. If it is anything more than this, it should not get a 3D Vision ready stamp on it, and come somewhere in the "Good" or less range. I don't care how great it looks in 3D, if you can't run it in S3D on a current (and recommended) video card at a playable frame rate, you can't run it in S3D. Your criteria seems to only take into account the visual fidelity of the game, and not its performance. That needs to change. The frame rate is a huge part of the gaming experience.

Any other Black Ops owners out there that observed this? I figure if they didn't fix that (the #1 selling game in history), they probably won't fix the Witcher 2. Fingers crossed for 1.2, but its not looking good.

I haven't observed that behaviour in Black Ops..but than again I played it in 3D on a GTX295 and took benefit of SLI. (Will make a test later on and tell you if I can reproduce the problem) Than again when running SLI configs the frame difference between 2D and 3D is less than 50%.... depends on the game and how SLI is optimized I guess...

50 fps with 3dstereo off and 15 with 3dstereo on (with ctrl+t on or off, is the same). Now I have doutbts about if this only happend with this game..., maybe I have a ferrari and run like a turtle with some games just because the nvidia 3d driver.

Thinking bad it is like 3d technology was invented to sell a lot of SLI systems with powerfull and expensive videocards..., and thinking worse it is like Nvidia making alliance with companies to release ungry games without limits. In any case I must pay a lot of money, without doubdts. I hope future consoles with 3d to forget definitively the pc.
PD: of course this is another offtopic.

Happy to report that the Duke Nukem Forever Demo doesn't seem to have any frame rate issues in S3D with this driver (275.33). /spaz.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':spaz:' /> It doesn't yet have a 3D profile though ... we'll see what happens after it does.

And yeah, after 14 years, we can finally play the duke again today. Its real at last.

Finally I had some time to install it and play this game in 3D. Like almost everybody here I have the huge frame drops at the indoor locations. For the rest the game is really good in 3D.
Unfortunately I have incredibly long loading times. Since I'm in act 1 I have load times of about 8 minutes!

I'm running it on a core I7, GTX460, 4GB, W7 64 bit. I have defragmented my hard disk to be sure. I also use the latest game patch and 275.33 drivers.
I read that there are some loading issues with the latest 275.33 drivers in certain games but Witcher 2 is not mentioned to have these problems.

Is there anybody else having the same issue? I would appreciate some help or ideas. /thanks.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':thanks:' />

Installed the 1.2 patch and no frame rate improvements inside the tavern but then, I wasn't expecting this patch to do that.

Nah, the devs just used the wrong api call constantly every frame, which is causing a bottleneck through its interaction with the 3d vision drivers.

Man, this is becoming annoying as hell. The white dots are still there when playing in Surround. They gave themselfes the work of removing some islamic textures and they can't remove some dots from the hud overlay.

well, if that is all so sure (that this is all CD Projects fault) and it looks like we´ve been barking up the wrong tree, then someone at NVidia should close this thread and be done with it.
