Hi mike, just tested Alpha 3.
Settings: 5760*1080 3D Vision Surround, GTX 780 SLI, 3770K@4,5 WINdows 7-64 bit
Fix works nearly perfect now, HUD works perfect!
Only issue Ive found was a bug with the hands on the wheel (cockpitview) whem Im using MSAA.
With MSAA off no problem with this issue.
FXAA works ok, but I got a little bit flickering, stronger in night races.
Best works SMAA. Everything fine with no hands bug and no flickering.
Performance feels a little bit better with Alpha 3 on my Rig. With medium - high settings and SMAA 2x I got about 40-60 fps (3D Vision Surround), sometimes drops to 30, but not often. GPU usage is mostly about +90% .... both GPUS.
Just tested online races and created a lobby. Tested with a buddie and other cars 15 KI. Racing runs stable, I had only 1-2 times crashing, when track is loaded (loading screen freeze).
My buddie (GTX 970 SLI @ 1920*1080 3D Vision) got different performance experiences. Sometimes stable 60 fps, and sometimes drops under 30 and less then 50% GPU usage.
It´s not really reproducable but one thing is clear, my 780 SLI runs much better (GPU usage) then his 970 SLI.
Greetings and thx for your fantastic engagement,
Ron.

Great feedback thanks :-) I'm running "High" settings right now, except car and track detail on Ultra, and with 2x980 and 20 AI opponents I sometimes drop to 35 FPS, though I am mostly above 50. It's worse when it's raining, and worse when there are lots of cars on screen. I will drop to medium for a couple of things to see how it improves. Good feedback on SMAA - I was going to go through all the AA settings to see what was best - FXAA (High) is not very good which is what I have been using.
I finally started to actually play the game properly today, and whereas I still need to tweak my wheel a bit, the driving feels great.

Makes me wonder though which of Mike's files is causing the error?

It's the 3DMigoto D3D11.dll file that is having some trouble with Windows 8.1. There is nothing to stop people trying an earlier version of the dll, say from Dragon Age Inquisition, as they might work (bo3b and I corresponded briefly about this).
Hi Mike.
Thanks for the fix.
I have this issues:
1- When i edit the exe file with notepad++ and change the only one nvapi_Query to nvbpi_Query
then the game have a crash error.
2- maybe cause of this no posible edition, the fix makes nothing into my game?
(tried off & on again 3D, every files of the fix are in exes place), but the games Works same as without the fix...
I'm not sure what the issue there is. Is it OK without the exe hack (minus the HID that is)?
Thanks for your work on this fix as I am having to sell my track car in real life, so to be able to play this game in 3D means I can still get my fix to a degree. I tried alpha 3 and wanted to report two issues to you, both covered in the attached screenshot.
First is the HUD at the top, the numbers within just the top of the HUD are at a different depth than the HUD itself. Unfortunately these are all very important numbers and impossible to see during driving. This was working correctly in alpha 2 FYI.
Second issue is brake light reflections. I'm not sure if this qualifies as a known issue. Take a look at the ground behind the car in front to see the brake lights at wrong depth. This happens for all cars in all weather conditions.
I have all settings maxed except reflections at High as suggested and AA set to MXAA. 970 SLI, Win 7, 350.12 driver.
This fix is already amazing regardless of these issues, I will get hundreds of hours of enjoyment from this game. Thanks so much.
Hi Cheezman, thanks for the feedback.
Regarding the HUD, I am aware of this but not had time to tweak it enough. The problem is that fixing one part of the hud screws up another part, and most hud displays have stuff at different depth - its a bit of a mess. I think I can fix the text issue you show by exposing a d3dx.ini parameter to toggle between different fix settings depending on what HUD display you have.
Regarding the lights, I'm not seeing this, so I am a bit unclear. What track was that in your screenshot? You say all cars and all weather, so if I go to that track I can try a few things out. Perhaps is AA? Can you try turning off different graphics settings to see if it stops happening?

** EDIT That is a great post and totally applies to my wheel :-)

the hud is no posible fix to me becouse the exe...
but the 3d fix alpha3 still not working properly.
ghosting two sides of the cars, flickering shadows environment, some others...
im playing on the settings you posted in w7 64, latest gta v nvidia drivers (no pcars profile), but a single 660 gpu pc, game at 1.3 versión.
could be the fix only Works in sli?

Not sure what is going on for you to be honest. The fix works in SLI (I just tested it). Make sure to try the ctrl-T trick, alternatively alt-tab out and back into the game.

Alpha 3 + Flugan Wrapper (Win 8.1)
My Settings

- SMAA needs to be off otherwise there is a dark shadow around objects.
- AA doesn't seem to affect anything.
- Motion blur causes instrument panels to blur (as expected). For sharpness turn it off.
- Bloom, I didn't manage to test yet.
- MSAA, I've not tested yet.
HUD Fix
- For others using Flugan's Wrapper (Win 8.1) you need to use Mike's nvapi64.dll as well as his ShaderFixes folder to get it to work, otherwise when you load the game through Steam you will get a "Fail to initialize" error or something along those lines.
- If the HUD is activated there is severe ghosting. Setting convergence to no more than 14% gets rid of it.
Cockpit and Exterior View
- Deactivating HUD I can set the convergence to my liking to get some depth in the game. I've had it as high as 43% with no ghosting whatsoever.
- The interior window screen reflects the dashboard and although it is very feint it can be distracting.
Other
- When or if the HUD is fixed for Windows 8.1 can it have more pop like Borderlands 2 as if like the HUD is coming out of the screen in front of your eyes or can something else? The depth is there but just lacking in "eye pop".
- When exiting the game and restarting it again, it causes the system to slow down and not respond. Only a restart fixes things. Could it be a memory leak?
- When starting a race sometimes the driver's hands appear stretched and distorted. A session restart brings it back to normal. Could be MSAA related though. I will turn it off and report back later.
- Damage to the car (crashing/heavy impacts) can randomly throw of the shaders.

Alpha 3 works beautifully on my end. It looks 3D Vision Ready. :))
The HUD exe hack didn't work for me though. I got the error: The Application was unable to start correctly (0xc00000142). Click OK to close the application.
I can live without the HUD for now.
Thanks again guys for this awesome fix. :))

Bo3b has prototyped an enhancement to 3DMigoto that will make the exe hack unnecessary. We will release this soon.

Thanks for the feedback! There are some things here different to my experience:
- MSAA causes rendering issues for me, SMAA does not
- I just don't understand the thing about activating HUD causing severe ghosting. I just does not do that for me. It seems to me like the fix is just not kicking in for you in that situation.
- System slow down - I have not seen this, but could be a game resource problem for sure
For some of the others:
- Interior window reflection is a game thing. It's annoying I guess, but its meant to be part of the realism, like the annoying sun that gets in your eyes etc
- HUD Popout: I can parameterise this very easily with the next alpha release but I think I wrote somewhere else that the HUD is all coupled in strange ways so making one bit pop out, pushes something else even further back and so on. Its a mess.
- Stretched hands: this is an interesting one as I went through to fix this issue, which is caused by decompiler errors. However, when there was a bug, it always happened and did not go away until I fixed it, so I am interested to see how reproducible this one is.
- The damage issue: I have not seen this, I guess there are a few more shaders relevant when a car gets trashed. I'll have to go and crash a few ;-)

This *is* a "helixmod fix", except it's using 3Dmigoto. The main simplification will be to remove the need to hack the exe - which is not at all complicated in the least by the way, just follow the instructions. Nothing else is complicated either is it? You copy files to a directory and that's it...

Thanks again!

This *is* a "helixmod fix", except it's using 3Dmigoto. The main simplification will be to remove the need to hack the exe - which is not at all complicated in the least by the way, just follow the instructions. Nothing else is complicated either is it? You copy files to a directory and that's it...
