"failed to release d3d objects" "failed to release d3d objects"
  1 / 2
I don't know what's going on, but when I try to go through the 3D Vision Wizard, I select 3D Vision Discover menu for the generic stereoscopic wizard and small box pops up saying "failed to release d3d objects". My Nvidia Control Panel stops responding and the 3D Vision Wizard still runs in the background even after I click ok on the ""failed to release d3d objects" box. Need help please.

Can someone please tell me exactly what services need to be running for 3D Vision to work? I use a lot of utilities to turn off services I don't need. I've checked to see if any of my Nvidia services were shut off and none are. I've tried reinstalling all my Nvidia drivers without success. So I'm thing it has something to do with a certain service being shut off. This is my second time of Reinstalling Windows 7 Ultimate.

System Specs:
Mobo: nForce 790i Ultra SLI
Processor: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6700
Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 260 Core 216
Memory: 2 GB OCZ
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate x64
Drivers: All latest drivers

OK I'm pretty sure it has nothing to do with any of my services. I just went through all of them and set them to their defaults. Man, this sucks. I really wish I new what was wrong here. I looked everywhere on the net and couldn't find one instance where someone is having the same issues as I am.

I just did another complete reinstall. This time I tried to find out WTF is causing this. Whether it be by some program or driver. I just completed installing all my drivers and everything look OK. Now since updating Windows 7, 3D Vision is missing from my Start Menu. I opened Nvidia's Control Panel and it was missing there as well.

So I tried reinstalling 3D Vision but I'm still getting this error. I don't get it. After all my drivers are installed, it works fine. But after a Microsoft update, it disappears and doesn't work anymore? Can someone please tell me WTF is going on here.

No idea if its in related, but I had HUGE problems getting SLI to work.

Windows 7 Ult. 64 Bit.

After a Windows update, SLI would not get recognized.

Some googling and coffee later, I found that the problem was with Windows updating the built-in MOBO NIC drivers (In my case, REALTEK).

The problem was easy to solve:

1) Open DEVICE MANAGER.

2) Expand NETWORK ADAPTERS

3) Find your NIC (Most likely Realtek xxx/yyy Gigabyte Ethernet NIC)

4) Rightclick on it and choose PROPERTIES

5) Click DRIVER and then click on ROLL BACK DRIVER...

6) Enjoy!

Hope this works.

Yes, last time I encountered this error it seemed to be related to MSI Afterburner.

Awesome, glad you have things working now. As a first time poster to the 3D Vision forums, you should be made aware of the community fixes available here http://helixmod.blogspot.com/2013/10/game-list-automatically-updated.html If Afterburner causes issues at launch, you can sometimes tab out and enable it once the game is running. If you have a second monitor GPUz is an alternative, use the sensors tab
