FOR NVIDIA SUPPORT: 3D VISION FLICKERING ISSUE Please help us fix this problem.
8 / 16
Try this one on for size guys. After almost a $750 investment (graphics card + kit) 3d is amazing, it LOOKS FANTASTIC. Or, at least it did before I had to do a recovery of Windows. Now, have latest drivers installed...flicker. Tried re-installing old drivers that had worked before of course, but it was flickering. So, Nvidia...care to tell me why I spent $750 for something that randomly works for people? Seriously...could have got a better ATI card for less money. 3d is amazing, and I applaud Nvidia. However, you would think they could put their brilliant minds together and solve this problem seeing as SO MANY people are having a problem with it. When I told my wife that my 3d kit wasn't working right after dropping so much cash on it...you should have SEEN the death glare I got. It's awesome that we can all come together on a forum to try to solve this problem, but It isn't supposed to be our problem to solve in the first place. We all spent money on something that is supposed to work. I wouldn't pay for a new TV that didn't turn on, so whats up with the 3d vision not working?
Sorry, its 6am...and I have been at this since 1am. Really though Nvid, show your customers some love. Figure out why this is happening and just fix it. People in my situation is a perfect example that it is something with the drivers, it worked FLAWLESSLY before. NEVER would flicker, at all. even with the lamp on right next to me.

I have tried un-installing the drivers and running driver sweeper. It works..well, better than it did. completely unable to run gpu-z while using it though. *sigh* this sucks, I shouldn't have done a windows recovery. 3d is amazing when it is working correctly. The flickering is making games unplayable now. The question I would really love an answer to is though, why is it that with the SAME drivers I have such poor performance now, as compared to before the windows recovery. I NEVER had problems with the 3d vision, no flickering at all, even with the blinds open during day time. So why do I have problems now? I used to run gpu-z in the background sitting here with all the lights on playing MW2...never any problems. Now I get flicker at least every 10 seconds with gpu-z running, and still occasionally with it turned off.

It seems to be a bit of an in depth process in vista and win7, but has anyone tried increasing their usb polling rate? Would that have any affect on the ir emitter. I thought I read about some latency issues.

I've got a Logitech G3 mouse with setpoint software installed. This software change the usb polling rate for my mouse when I'm in game. Could this software pertub other USB peripheral ?
I haven't got flickering when I'm playing DX demos and Nvidia demos like Medusa, is there mouse support in these demo ?

I've got a G9 with it polling at 500hz, but I believe it only affects the usb port attached to the mouse. To change the polling for all usb ports you have to edit usbport.sys. In Vista and Win7 you have to do some extra hacking because of digital signature issues, I believe.
Nitro Stunt Racing isn't flickering ... One good game playable =)
I've only tried a few games but my only problem is with Modern Warfare 2. Decreasing the 3d vision refresh rate to 100hz gets rid of most of the flickering. At 120hz, the flashing is bad and the glasses eventually turn off. Turning 3d off then on again (Ctrl-T) puts it back on momentarily. I'm on 8800gt with Samsung 2233rz and tried all the fixes mentioned in this forum including using the 1.20 cd drivers.
Hi all,
My flickering is now gone, after I followed Dave's instructions.
Just did one thing more: during the setup wizard i chose the second option at the 'Select your gaming environment' part; if i choose the first (recommended) option, the flickering comes back. I have no other computer in the room, no remote controls, no IR source that could interfere; still, i need to choose the second option.

I'm using my double 250 GPU in multi mode, Physx enabled @ 120Hz.
Running WinVista 64, 4GB Ram and i5 670, on an Asus P7P55D-E Deluxe mainboard.
Cheers

My problem has been completely resolved by the same method. I am seriously blown away by 3D.

Since installing 1.20 drivers and getting a new Acer monitor, flickering NEVER happens anymore. What a relief :)

Did you buy the new GD235HZ bid full 1080p monitor? How do you like it? I am also considering upgrading my Samsung to the new Acer.

I have a G9 with setpoint set to poll 1000hz ... no flickering from that.
I got the Alienware monitor. I had flicker. I closed my gpu temp monitoring software (eVGA Precision) and that fixed it. Dunno why, but it did.

If can help,i have logitech g15 keyboard + logitech usb headset + logitech mouse g9 (but even if i disconnect all i get flickering)

I suspect the glasses are extremely dumb. Ideally, if a pulse signal is missed, the glasses should interpolate and try to keep displaying in sync with some slight drift while the signal recovers. Instead, the glasses just stick on one eye, which causes the flicker. Just a guess.
