Risen 2 : Dark Waters screens are up. Looks Perfect! 3D Vision Ready for sure.

Sorry but I am not on my home PC at the moment but there were over 1000 vertex shaders that I recall and a whole bunch of pixel shaders. The water stuff isn't really that bad - I think if the shadows got fixed it would really make the game look a lot better. Disabling them really takes away from the visuals but I guess we might not end up with any other option.

Just ran into THIS on another forum. Originally it's in German and the google translation is as ****ty as usual so I didn't understand or read through it all, just browsed through really. But it seems to be talking about how the devs implemented 3D Vision in this game and how they tried to adjust the tech to support it properly. If there's someone here who's from Germany or speaks german, could you actually tell us in general detail what that article is about (as I could be totally wrong and it's talking how 3D is impossible to achieve with their new engine).

This article is like that old commercial where the guy is pointing at a picture of a moth and telling everyone it's a horse.
In essence it talks about how 3D is popular and what not, but requires a lot of processing power or the FPS drops. They say a lot of changes had to be done to the code to make 3D work. A bunch of top notch cards from ATI and NV get recommended and we're told, that we can lower some options to get better FPS. Oh and don't forget - lower the res first! :)
...however the author either has that impairment where you don't see 3D or simply is completely clueless about the topic. :)
I think a bunch of threads on the game's support forums are the way to go after all. It worked for Alan Wake, maybe it will also work here.
They do seem to know about these issues though, but simply do not care and accept "turn off shadows" as... um... acceptable. :) See here: Linkie

Its possible won't be able to fix and I know the person is busy and juggling lots of stuff. If it were me I'd Playthrough once then wait and see. Then again shadows off doesn't bother me that much Ive grown used to it. Was the last issue I fixed in hunted.
Shadows are not easy. You literally need to know programming to fix unless its unreal engine(then you can steal helix's fixes).

As I don't expect that there will be a 3DVision patch (soon) I decided to start the game with disabled shadows. There are two versions: the standard setting for disabled shadows looks much too bright (see http://photos.3dvisionlive.com/3d4dd/image/4fe6265d3785013514000001/ , Yes, I'm using a trainer /shifty.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':shifty:' /> ). The other one is the "permanent shadow mode" that ENAK suggested above. I prefer the "permanent shadow mode" as it looks more natural. Unfortunately there is a contradiction between the dark environment and the clear blue sky with bright sun (see http://photos.3dvisionlive.com/3d4dd/image/4fe626853785013514000002/ ). I tried to get a sky that fits better to the "permanent shadow mode". Texture replacement with uMod/TexMod didn't work. So I tried Helixmod (see http://helixmod.wikispot.org/How_To_Install ) and could find a combination of disabled shaders that make the sky look like overcast and the sun hazy (see http://photos.3dvisionlive.com/3d4dd/image/4fe626c4378501f616000002/ ). My shader override also includes two optional shaders. If You copy A23712FF.txt from VS Sun to VertexShaders the sun will be removed completely. If You copy EACABB08.txt from PS Plants to PixelShaders and disable shadows in the graphic settings the over-brightened no shadow mode will be replaced by a mode similar to the one that ENAK suggested. But in this case some plants will remain brighter (compare http://photos.3dvisionlive.com/3d4dd/image/4fe627303785014a14000003/ and http://photos.3dvisionlive.com/3d4dd/image/4fe6275a3785014a14000004/ ).
I would recommend to disable the override when the scenery originally offers an overcast sky (sword coast etc.). I just arrived at the sword coast so it also could be that the override will not work in later parts of the game...
