290.36 broken, no CRT mode needs to be fixed
  2 / 3
I think nvidia is waiting for someone to come out with a hack to make this work. Then they can string us along with a promise of a fix for as long as they want.
But at least they will get us a 3% frame rate increase in (insert game title here) for the next release. Can't live without that for another month.

Hmm, interesting that 3D Vision Pro users have not posted to complain. Either this is just on the consumer/gamer side, or it only effects users using workarounds.

Bumping this thread. I'm not updating my drivers until there is confirmation on this.

Maybe nvidia is just waiting to see how many people complain. If it doesn't reach their preset threshold then they know they can just drop this feature and be silent.

The cynic in me tends to agree.

Why does the number of "views" of this thread always remain at "0"?
More a bug report than a conspiracy theory.

I really hope that is mistake! It remains to wait for the final version of the driver.

I've just tried the Beta 295.18.

Problem still persists.

It's designed for asus portables, had to use a modified inf to install.

You may want to reserve judgement till a WHQL is released, but it doesn't look good folks.

It looks like nVidia is preparing a gigantic middle finger to penetrate our back sides... again ಥ_ಥ

The silence is deafening..

Come on Andrew! What's the problem? Please give us an answer.

Maybe you haven't seen this thread but it's been bumped plenty of times and it seems as though you're hiding from us.

Bad news Guys,

it is not a BUG in the Driver. NVidia removed the CRT Support intentionally.

Nvidia Germany Confirmed this via Facebook.

http://www.facebook.com/NVIDIADeutschland/posts/328208247207954

Someone should tell this some PC and Game Magazines. There is absolutely NO TECHNICAL REASON to remove this! It has a simple monetary Reason. A 3D Vision Certificate costs Money for the Disply Manufacturer. Nvidia sees no Money for not Certified Displays, they just want to stop that.

This goes really Ugly, you should inform as Many Media as possible to spread this Information!

Greetings

Can't see the site and i have problems trusting anything from fb...
However: Nvidia does not have the intention to make good versatile drivers. It's all and only about money and screaming stockholders... I hate the new world....

Ahh, more expensive gear turned into paperweights by nvidia.

Remember peeps, the money game works both ways. If you paid nvidia for a product that did something for you and then they took that something away, get your money back.

As soon as this is verified I plan on getting a refund for my 3D Vision kit, as I know longer have 3D Vision. nvidia replaced it with 3DTV Play and doesn't seem to have any intention of re-enabling the product I actually paid them for.

I'm using the 3D Vision system also for my Sony FW 900 CRT monitor, which works like a charm. If they really remove generic CRT support this would all of a sudden render my monitor worthless. I paid tousands of Euros for nVidia graphic cards over the years and now, instead of giving us checkerboard or side-by-side mode like promised by the beginning of this year they take away CRT-mode?

I AM SPEACHLESS...

*Sigh*

Screwed by nVidia once again.

It should come as no surprise that when they said they /only/ supported certified hardware to "ensure 3D hardware met high quality specifications" was an absolute lie. It was obvious from the start that the game was rigged in a way to give nVidia royalty for approval of 3D hardware.

Looking ahead:

Is there any chance they will make CRT support a purchasable product as they tried to do with 3D play?

As much as I would hate to give them more of my hard earned money, it would be better than nothing.

They get their money, and we get a cup, as bitter as it may taste, of more S3D with our oh so very expensive hardware.

Andrew, what say yee? The beans have been spilled, you may as well tell us what's in the works now.

Or maybe not... company policy, bosses looking over your shoulder and all that filth presumably.

That's really interesting. Than why not drop support old cards, such as 8800 series?! When I buys 3D Vision Kit I have not seen of limitations on how long the support will be. Maybe I'm missed it?

I feel cheated, because if I knew that support will be dropped so soon I would not buy this kit. /blarg.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':/' />
