GTX 680 + Batman Arkham Origins - $329.99 [US]
  1 / 2
I just happen to pass by this and really stuck out to me. The cheapest I see 680's going for anywhere else is $380.00 and that was without batman. Just pointing it out in case anyone is interested. If you were planning to buy game anyways thats a great deal. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814500248

Nice deal! In case anyone might be held back by thinking it's not latest 7xx generation, note that the 680 and the 770 are the same part: http://www.hwcompare.com/14636/geforce-gtx-680-vs-geforce-gtx-770/ Same chip, GK104, and same number of Cuda cores, etc. The 680 is clocked slightly slower than the 770 at stock, that's really the only difference.

yep pretty sweet deal. I have seen same kind of deals on asus dc2 and zotac 4gb cards also. Not in the US, but here in europe. They get rid of stock i believe. 770's seem to be higher asic cards and overclock slightly higher on average than 680's. Biggest difference is 7ghz vs 6ghz memory chips. Core clock bump is really small, some aftermarket 680's ship at higher rate, zotac amp card in the OP being one of them. On a side note i regret pre-purchasing arkham origins on steam. Nvidia bundles the game now and ive already seen 20 dollar ebay sells. Should have waited :D

This does look good - any advice on sli'ing this, it's a 3slot design so running two together might have temp issues due to being close together? I have a big HAF case but I can see these cards would be really close together on my mobo.

Pretty much SLI cards always stack since they are so massive now adays, no way around it. I guess new "air designs"/crazy powerful fans get around this.. TBH, I wouldnt worry about overheating gpus. I rarely hear stories of gpus overheating unless OC'D. If your not going to OC don't worry about it, if you are your running OC got a risk unless you buy/do a water cool system. Should see tri/quadsli systems. Literally on top of each other. Wow - those pics are illuminating, almost no gaps between them lol. I'll have a think about it, I have SLI 570's right now, so no point just getting one of these things.

If you do Id sell those 570's. So many people dont sell old cards/ physx spot them [so worthless]. Can knock a chunk off one of those cards. Id also check your powersupply. Its hard to remember things like that but 570 is a pretty weak card [No offense], and it hardly uses any power. I dont know exact figure off the top of my head but Im pretty sure 680's use double.

Will definitely sell the 570s, and power wise they are more hungry than the 680 - 217W vs 195W - so my Psu would be fine. I want to stay sli for 3d vision, but need to consider the cost (just recently got a projector as well...).

O wow, didnt know 600 series was so power efficient I was way off on that one. Thought 570s were low power consumption because I remember at one point comparing to my 480 [Which take a ridiculous amount of power... they take 250w lol]. I have trouble not equating size/performance with power usage = /

Yep, there was a trend for awhile to these giant PSUs because it looked like video cards were going to get even more insane. 1200W units were common, even some 1500W units which is all the wall will supply in US. Then, NVidia and Intel both started making stuff more efficient. You can easily run an SLI rig now with 750W power supplies, and if you don't overclock, usually 550W.
This does look good - any advice on sli'ing this, it's a 3slot design so running two together might have temp issues due to being close together? I have a big HAF case but I can see these cards would be really close together on my mobo.
It's bad. The blower style design is actually a terrible design if you don't have space. I ran a temporary setup with three cards, including a GTX 480 for PhysX as an experiment. That filled it all up like eqzitara's pics. And, the bottom cards were struggling for air. Card in first slot was running 85C when playing. Overclocking is out of the question if you pack 'em in like this. This is highly dependent upon your motherboard maker. This old ATX EVGA board I run has two extra slots between the primary SLI slots. For a 3 slot micro-ATX board there is no space, so you'll have them up against each other. I pretty much agree with you both though- it will likely only be a problem if you overclock. But that also includes the factory overclocked boards. But, isn't this how your 570's are SLI? Seems like you'd already have a heat problem. The 570 is better in terms of heat, but not nearly as good as 680s/770s. 780 is even more efficient, and would actually give you a performance boost. I agree with you that your SLI 570 is roughly comparable to a single 680, so there is no point in just one.

My 570s in SLI have a decent air gap between them as they are 2 slot design and there are two slots between the cards (so about an inch gap between the cards currently). The 680 card above would use up most of that gap with the extra layer of fans and that is what concerns me a bit. The card in question is also factory overclocked (it's the "amp" edition). I am undecided - I saw a 770 for $380 also with the Batman Game bundle, and am tempted to get that... It's a 2 slot design and faster (also superclocked, though has a 230W power rating...). My research shows that I should expect a slight perf increase over 2 570s, but I will be setup for another 770 in the New Year when the wife has forgotten that I bought this one... Anyway, I'll let this thread get back to 3D Vision, I need to just go away and make my mind up ;-)

TBH the benchmarks I've seen on a 690 werent really impressive. Id rather get a titan but Id rather get neither. Titans are a FRACTION better then a 780 but 2/5 more expensive. No idea why Titans/690 havent dropped in price ever. Then again I'd rather get two 680's/770's then a 780.

I mean, granted, I'm biased (check my signature), and I realize that SLI setups will almost always beat out a single GPU in any game that's optimized for SLI, but the 690 is still the most capable single GPU on the market. I chose to get away from SLI setups and I've been nothing but thrilled with my 690. It is ridiculously efficient.

690 might be better then a Titan. I honestly havent looked into that since they were both new and drivers are always shit then and data is inaccurate. The difference between a 690 does not = $350 off for a 780 also no batman AO with a titan or 690 for whatever reason. So thats practically $400 price difference. Its very hard to recommend a $1000 690 over a $600 780. 690 is just not really a good choice in todays market. 690 may of been amazing cards for price when they came out but price has not dropped since release. Might be great for you since you have no plans to SLI it seems but mostly everyone will.
