3d vision on new linux driver ? Anyone tried it yet ?
I noticed today that linux driver 367.57 (10.10.2016) states : "Added support for NVIDIA 3D Vision 2 Stereo on Linux. This IR emitter can be used with stereo mode "10" set in the X configuration file." Has anyone tried this yet and got it working ?

I tried putting "10" in xorg.conf as suggested and rebooted. Nvidia settings then only showed 100 or 120 refresh options available for my asus monitor as would be expected for nvidia vision being active. So its doing something, just not sure what yet as games don't seem to automatically go into stereoscopic.
just not sure what yet as games don't seem to automatically go into stereoscopic.
Try GZDoom: http://gzdoom.drdteam.org/ Since the last official update, it has now 3D Vision and VR compatibility. Under "options" -> "display options" -> "opengl options" -> "preferences" you have to set "enable quad stereo" to "on", restart the game (from now on, the game will trigger 3D Vision) and then set "stereo 3d vr" to "quad-buffered" (every time you play the game). Also, open your ini file and change "vr_ipd" to 0.18 or 0.2, or else the game uses too little separation. This depends on your taste. I have only used it with Windows 7. No idea if it will work with Linux. Edit: make sure it uses 120Hz ("vid_refreshrate=120" in the ini file).

That are great news! I definitely want to try that out. The open Jedi Knight implementations seem to have a stereoscopitc renderer as well. I'll try to enable it in that game.

Thanks for the link. I tried GZDoom but I couldn't get it to install in wine. Not sure if I misconfigured it. I'll have another go later. I'll try some more games in Steam on linux and see if I can get any to work in stereoscopic. Still its progress that at last nvidia seem to have started to implement something for stereoscopic in the driver on linux. Maybe vulcan will add more titles in the future. I might be able to finally rid myself of windows 10 one day :-) There is hope! (Windows 10 crashes a lot for me - but linux on the same skylake rig is rock solid).

https://devtalk.nvidia.com/default/topic/971012/linux/stereoscopic-3d-with-geforce-on-linux/ If that links correct they're still blocking quad buffering on non quadro cards. Which is stupid.... oh well we can but hope nvidia one day get stereoscopic working on linux and actually try to sell their product to a wider audience.
