Stereo Drivers 77.77
Just for clarification to those who may not know, this is different than the up/down semi-transparent mirror method TR describes above.  Has anyone actually tried the semi-tranparent mirror method?  I'm sure it's pretty bright, high-contrast and low-ghosting, but is it ZERO-ghosting like the side-by-side monitors and single-mirror method?  Maybe I'm just picky but I can't stand ghosting at all.
[post="45991"]<{POST_SNAPBACK}>[/post]
How can it be any different when using up/down from side by side method? I´m pretty sure that the ghosting would be equally low (not ZERO). But how low can the ghosting really be? Any comparisons yet? Enlighten the rest of us!

EDIT: OK saw the FAQ now. Should have read it first /whistling.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':whistling:' />
Still, how low is the ghosting using up/down semi-mirror method?

Ghosting in cdase of left-right stereo with mirror comes only from dirt on mirror and its noticalbe when using normal (non front surface) mirror. Light isnt reflected exactly as it should be and one can see additional weak reflections especially at dark pictures with light places. But of course, even with normal mirror, its VERY small effect, stereo is MILLIONS times better than for eg. shutters. Ghosting is also almost non noticable in 95% of time, ant its almost ZERO ghosting for front surface mirrors.

As for up-down polarisation stereo, everything depend from quality of polarisators; bad ones cant switch monitor light off totally; also, too big head movements from the vertical direction cause that more light pass through polarisator in glasses. And also here, ghosting is almost ZERO /haha.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':haha:' /> /haha.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':haha:' /> /thumbup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Hi all,

please can anybody confirm serious problems trying to run the new 77.77 stereo drivers?
That's really bad, I can't get them working. Evrytime I start stereo3d mode my pc gets a blue screen and I have to reboot. I had non such problems with the 71.84 pair of drivers with whom I could greatly enjoy true 3d using Dual3d-mode with 2 mirrors.

I have a 6600GT card.

I suppose there isn't any possibility to get this new planar-mode activated with the 71.84?

Any solutions or similar experiences?

thanks
Kai

Did you fully uninstall your previous drivers prior to upgrading ? You should use control panel, add/remove software, and remove both the 3d stereo drivers and nvidia drivers. Then reboot into VGA mode. Then install the new drivers.

Otherwise some old parts of the driver can hang around and cause problems.

(one for the FAQ i think)

Has anyone else had trouble with the Planar StereoMirror mode acting like the Dual VGA mode (both views shifted properly but second monitor does not horizontally flip) in some games? This happens to me in Rogue Squadron 3D (yes, I know it's old). But then I can close this game and immediately open up UT2003 and the right monitor will flip horizontally like it should when I press Ctrl-T. It's really weird - both games are DirectX, what's the difference? I really hope we don't start discovering lots of great games this mode doesn't work in!

Hey nVidia /wave.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> , some of Planar's customers may be unhappy if some applications don't work with this great stereo mode!

Yes, I uninstalled the drivers (1. stereo, 2. normal forceware), rebooted, run drivercleaner, nvcleaner, checked windows/inf, windows/prefetch, checked the registry.
Then I installed 1. normal forceware, rebooted, then installed the Stereo drivers, rebooted.
I have to say that I changed the drivers multiple times, and always the 71.84 and 71.89 pairs did work and the 77.77 didn't. I tried the official 77.77 (both the international and the english) as well as the beta 77.77 Forceware (normal) drivers.
I checked the minidumps with Microsoft-debugging tools.
Perhaps somebody can look at the results which I attached.
Thanks
Kai

I have the same problem: enabling 3d-stereo in the Display-driver Window
reebot the computer immediately.
After restoring a system configuration with 61.77 : everything works fine
(... but I want shadows in BF2 ...) and with 77.77 or 78.01 : /thumbsdown.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

(Galaxy 6800 GT ... no SLI)
