Avegant Glyph. Supposed to work with 3D vision now! anyone try it?
https://www.avegant.com/ 720P frame packed mode is supported and it's supposed to have 3D vision support now. This could be really cool as the Glyph is supposed to be very clear and prodvide a pixel free image. https://www.avegant.com/

Wow this is really weird technology.. I wonder what it looks like viewing it and having the image beamed to your eyes?? I wonder if it looks big or what?? Reminds me of The Star Trek Next generation episode where they have this game that is directly beamed to the retina for a Augmented reality that was designed to overtake your mind or something.. Kinda cool tho..

This looks really promising, maybe this could take the place of my old sony hmz-t1 (although I have modded it so that's it's quite comfortable now), and the price is fine at 699. Anyone here ordered it? I can't wait for impressions for the device. BTW Kudos to sony, I bought the hmz t1 5 years ago, i have used it for thousands of hours and yet it still works like a champ to this day.

They don't ship to Canada, so I'd need to import it somehow but that's risky and no warranty. I'm surprised nobody has tried this thing yet, as I remember back in the day there would have been people on here as kickstarter backers foaming at the mouth for this. Most people say the FOV is OK, like viewing a 65" from 8 feet or something, while the company says center row of a large theater. It's definitely not VR immersion or anything, but that's not needed for 3D vision anyway. BTW, the way it projects into your eyes, supposedly gets rid of screen door effect completely, and reviews for image quality have been great. Even though it's 720p per eye, their is no pixel grid visible. I was also into the Sony HMZ and owned 2 of them but couldn't get over the comofort issue, and visible pixels. This device could potentially be the best way to experience 3D vision games.... and possibly 3D movies as well.

Since this is on sale at Amazon ($439), I decided to take a chance on this. Some random thoughts after playing around with this for about an hour: It's more comfortable than I thought it would be. The headphone cans do feel a little tight around my head. But I'm hoping this loosens up the more I use it. I tested some movie trailers & a couple of games in stereo 3D. I played GRID 2 for 30 minutes and I feel like I could've played longer. The screen resolution is 1280x720 & the screen is sufficiently bright. As far as the screen size goes, it feels like I'm sitting near the back of a movie theater. It's not too dissimilar from my Google Cardboard setup (BoboVR Z4 headset + LG G5 with QHD display). Playing 3D games, I'm able to crank up the convergence so the screen feels a bit closer. I have yet to try any other VR devices (Vive, Rift, PSVR) or any other head-mounted displays (such as Sony HMZ-T1) so I'm unable to make any comparisons. But for movies & stereo 3D gaming, I've found Glyph to be superior to Google Cardboard. - It weighs less. - I don't have to worry about heat dissipation from my phone. - Zero screen door effect. - I like that I can easily peek down at my keyboard. I'm not sure if I like the Glyph better than my projector, though. I don't have a proper theater setup, but my projector screen size is 105" (projected on a bare wall) and I sit about 6 feet away from the screen. But the Glyph screen is brighter & perhaps is preferable for daytime use. BTW, stereo 3D works out of the box. Just plug in the HDMI cable & set Glyph as the main display.

Thanks for the impressions. The lack of a screen door effect is very compelling. Hopefully either Vive or the Rift will integrate this or similar technology in the future.

Huge thanks for the review 4everAwake, I'll get this at some point no doubt, my old hmz-t1 will need a replacement sooner or later and this looks like it.

Is this 3D Vision Ready or does it require 3DTVPlay to work? I was watching this project for a long time, it didn't get too much attention because of oculus. In My opinion the concept is better but I think the timing is a bit wrong. Another problem is shipping only in US. Why would you want to limit your market? Another thing is I didn't see one review that doesn't seem to be criticizing stupid things. And when reviews give 2 stars from 5 for reasons like : I don't care about 3D, you look ridiculous.... "Even though the Glyph isn't a VR headset, for $699, you're better off with a full on HTC Vive or Gear VR" - -and when people read shit like this they probably back out. I hate this biased reviews.

BIG thanks for the review 4everAwake :) I see this as an alternative to a PJ, and with my limited space this could be great.. I would also like to know if it is real 3D Vision or just 3DTVplay ? Another concern is the convergence, can it be cranked up to a satisfying level of toyification wich I love ? I really like the idea of still being able to se the keyboard, wich I find essential for playing games that's not VR optimized. And IF the 720P res. isn't an visual issue, it will give us a rather big fps. boost :P

After further testing, I have to make a correction to my previous post. The screen size & distance between the Glyph and my Google Cardboard setup isn't similar at all. While the Glyph does feels like you're near the back of a movie theater, my Google Cardboard setup (using the Youtube app in cardboard mode) feels like you're near the back of an IMAX theater. I still prefer the Glyph for movies & 3D gaming as the screen is really clear. I'm able to read small text easily. Also, regarding comfort: With my Cardboard, most of the weight of the device is on my face. With the Glyph, (in my case) no weight is on my face and all of the weight of the device is on my ears and the top of my head (using the head strap). My google cardboard setup weighs 598 grams and the Glyph weighs 490 grams. Some other things I noticed: - While most of the screen is clear, the very edges of the screen are a bit blurry and it can be a little difficult to read some text. - When gaming in 3D, the screen in the Glyph is a lot brighter than my 3D vision 2 setup with lightboost. - No crosstalk
Does it require anything else except the headset and the HDMI cable (and obviously the PC/Laptop) ?
Careful with that, since optimus enabled laptops can not output 3d Vision signals over HDMI, if they route the signal through the intel card. Ever realized how no 3d vision laptop had optimus?

Hi, As the users of this device know, Avegant supplied frame packed 3D for this device. I'm trying to use this option effectively in Windows but I have some problems. I have a GTX 1080 Ti graphics card and a Dell 27" monitor attached via display port. I'm using HDMI port to connect to Glyph. I watched HSBS content with this device successfully before the update. But the quality was not very good ( because of SBS resolution is cut in half ).. For example with 1280x720 HSBS, there is 640x720 image per eye and the resulting image is not very good.. Even if the original video is 1920x1080 HSBS, because display resolution is 1280x720, it's first downscaled to 1280x720 and displayed same as the 1280x720 HSBS. So, now I'm trying to use Stereoscopic Player to display HSBS video as frame packed with no success.. As you may guess, with frame packed it's possible to play 1920x1080 HSBS as 1280x720, upscaled from 960x1080 ( yeah there's a small ratio problem but I could fix it ). First of all I'm using Nvidia 3d play as output, and set it to display on glyph when played full screen when stereo option is enabled. I ran the setup wizard on Nvidia control panel and enabled 3D successfully. Something occurred though... Before when I set the desktop resolution to 1280x720 with 3D enabled, Windows displayed flipping menu items in 3D, now it's not. I also ran Trine game from Steam, and the Stereoscopic settings are disabled there also. I could also see that the image is not in 3D. So it actually works while setting up, but after that there are no effects in anywhere. It doesn't kick in. I remember playing Trine in 3D before, what happened and why it doesn't work now, I'm not sure. What could be wrong and how could I fix this?

I remember playing Trine in 3D before, what happened and why it doesn't work now, I'm not sure. What could be wrong and how could I fix this?
Buy discs. Simple as that. As the users of this device know, Avegant supplied frame packed 3D for this device.
