NICE!
I think I need the Sony HMD now...forget multi-monitor 3D...Head tracking HDM's will be WAY more immersive because you can move your head forward\back\lower\higher in the cockpit...giving you the freedom to bang your head against the cockpit glass and look down to the right or left (my ultimate goal right now!). Get the Sony man!

Where is this SONY HMD? I'm very curious now. The problem is does it work with 3D Vision and does it display in full 1080p?

With regard to head traking don't you have to keep your eyes on the monitor whilst moving your head? Isn't that confusing?

No, you set the profiles to magnify your head movements. So, for example, you only turn 10 degrees, easily keeping the screen in view, but your game POV has turned 90 degrees. Or however sensitive you want to make it. You can set a different profile for each game.
You can control all 6 axis, meaning you can not only tilt your head in any direction, but move yourself around inside the cockpit. For example, leaning forward to get a closer look at the gauges or sitting up to see the runway way over the panel while taxiing a taildragger.
After a very short learning curve, it becomes natural and you stop thinking about it...you just look.

Would it be difficult to hook up the TrackIR 5 system to the Sony HMD? Is it like a baseball cap brim clip-on thing?

So you would not have to move more than 20-30 deg. with the HDM on to get 360 degree full cockpit look-around?

There is no 1080p 120Mhz 3D Projectors, except for the ultra-high-end Projectiondesign f35 as3d. It costs 26K (I sent them an e-mail asking for the price) and they normaly only sell it to companies, like NASA, so you are out of luck, the best thing would be to to a 3x 720p Projectors like mine (Benq W700 - 500€ each) for a total of 3840x720 or 1280x2160 resolution. Let me tell you, although 720p with a 90 inch screen looks bad in 2D, it looks perfect in 3D because you can crank up the graphic settings because of the low resolution, including 4x anti-alising, and the doubling of the images makes the jagged lines become unnoticed. Trust me.

While that may be true, I'd be hard pressed to spend that kind of money and space just for games. I do a lot of desktop work as well, so I need the high resolution. I'm sure the experience is awesome, but I am just as satisfied with the 3D monitor until the projectors @ 1080p become the norm. This simulator isn't going anywhere... :)

Ok I've tried the changes to make this game work with 3D vision but its not working at all it stays in 2D. Has anybody got any tips to make it work please, I have edited the registry and added the Link 1 etc already which made no difference. I want to love this game.

I had the same problem yesterday with DCS P51. Started working again when I got back to 296.10 drivers.
With the newer beta driver the registry setting was missing but with 296.10 my registry looks like this on my Windows 7 x64 computer.
You can copy the text above to a text file and change the file extension to .reg
Then dubbel click and select yes to import.
But only do this if you have Windows 7 x64.
I got this game to work excellently in 3D by just simply deleting the DCS: BlackShark Profile (or just point it to another .exe) and creating a new DCS: A-10C profile making sure to point it to the DCS.exe in the DCS A-10C game folder using Nvidia Inspector.
The 3D works right away but you will have to play around with the convergence because at first it will render very incorrectly until you play around with it.
At present I am also trying to fix the mouse pointer as I can only click on the front dash buttons correctly, the lower dash switches/buttons are far into the screen and the mouse pointer sits on the foreground so the buttons and pointer do not line up making you unable to click on most objects on the lower dash. Unfortunately I am not very good at changing convergences for HUD elements yet so I am stuck with the bad mouse pointer. :(

Yeap. The further away you click a button the worse it is with the pointer. I use my TrackIR and just move my head in, to click if I get it wrong. Works so far, but definitely annoying.

With regard to head traking don't you have to keep your eyes on the monitor whilst moving your head? Isn't that confusing?
[/quote]

Trust me.

With the newer beta driver the registry setting was missing but with 296.10 my registry looks like this on my Windows 7 x64 computer.
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\NVIDIA Corporation\Global\Stereo3D\GameConfigs\dcs]
"StereoMemoEnabled"=dword:00000000
"Link1"="Launcher.exe"
You can copy the text above to a text file and change the file extension to .reg
Then dubbel click and select yes to import.
But only do this if you have Windows 7 x64.
