He's asking for a 1920x1080 3D desktop monitor... not a 50-60" DLP Television with 1/2 resolution in 3D mode.

There is none so far.

What are the downsides of DLP? They generally get totally ignored by the HD craze. What is the deal? Is it the off angle viewing or bad colors? Are there other different downsides with 3d on these displays? I hear they have color problems in 3d, like one eye not like the other or something?

There is NO Downside of Samsung LED DLP T.V.'s They look amazing from most angles. The Samsung LED DLPS's are almost impossible to find now, since they stopped manufacturing them. They have no color problems at all in 3d. They are amazing t.v's!! That's why there listed on Amazon for over 2500 bucks!! The model number is Samsung HL61a750

The HD craze loves DLP because it offers excellent quality on quite big screen surfaces at low price (low price relative to similar sized LCD and plasmas).
The problem with DLP rear projection TV :
1) it's not flat = MAJOR problem (it's a projection or rear-projection system)
2) Lower brightness (for a home cinema room it's perfect but not bright enough for usual living room lighing)
3) You can't hang DLP TVs to a wall (too heavy) and using a projector is psychologically too complex (it's very easy but it's completely different from using a standard TV so people don't think about using projectors)
4) On Traditional DLP TVs you have to change the lightbulb, LED DLP are impossible to find, Laser backlighing looks promising but the mitsubishi laser TV is waaay overpriced.

In 3D mode, current 3D-ready DLPs use Texas Instrument's DLP-Checkerboard pattern @60Hz for image transmission, even if you render your games @FullHD, the image being transmitted to the display is 1/2 resolution (to allow 120Hz to fit in 60Hz bandwidth).
I don't know any consumer DLP TV or DLP projector that does true 120Hz for nvidia 3d-vision.
