GTX 970 4K 3D VIsion gaming success with LGUB850V Passive TV

I am interested to know the pros and cons of using 4k interleaved vs 1080P using 3D vision. In terms of quality, wich one gives us more quality? The framerates you can obtain are just more or less the same? What about the lose of bright? Is it really noticeable the "black" interleaved lines? What about the low fps usually obtained on TVs when playing without losing half because the Nvidia 3D Vision procedure?
In other therms..., if you had the choice to choose between those two ways to obtain 3D in your TV, witch one you would use?

Its a hard chioce.
With real 1080p 3d vision or with a active 3dtv you get zero motion blur due to how the glass's work, a interleaved lcd in 3d has motionblur unless you enable Interpolation which adds input lag ( more or less depending on display ) and each display has different levels of motionblur but none compare to wearing active glass's due to the zero motion blur you get from the the way the lenses open and shut.
The thing is with 3dtv's, there big, there fun and the 3d is awsome compared to little screens.
I cant use this mod as i have a colourbug that kills 3d on my Sony x8505 4k 3dtv so 4k interleaved is no good for me sadly.
If i had a chioce and i had low input lag with minimal motion blur i'd choose a 3dtv everytime due to there great for films and the 3d is big and cheap but we all like different things.

Active glasses with active display tend to have more 3D ghosting than passive glasses with passive display, especially for UHD TVs (both my UHD TVs have much less ghosting than my old passive PC monitor, and less than my 3 different model/brand active HDTVs). Passive glasses have zero latency, while active glasses have a distinct performance response/lag. I suggest reviewing displaylag.com to assess panel display lag prior to purchase of any TV/monitor.

Note that 3DTV Play introduces an unnecessary 17 msec lag by forcing 1080p controls and game to work @ 24 fps (Ignition allows 60 Hz Desktop and game). However, 1080p60 looks superb with passive UHD TVs and Ignition (GTX drivers only support SBS, while AMD drivers support full-frame - and other formats)! I could not get Ignition's 4K line-interleaved mode to work correctly for either GTX or AMD GPUs.

Here's an edid ovveride inf that contains the timings of LG 49UB850V and has the identity of Acer HR274H.
Yes, that means that the native resolution is 4k and optimized for geforce 3D mode is enabled.
Eyes are still swapped, like it was with 1080p sets.... but there's that registry interleave pattern overriding hack for that.

Am I correct in assuming that the game would render in 4K, but 3D would NOT add any performance hit because it's just sending interleaved? Of course running a game at 4K res would be very demanding, but running a game in 4K plus the usual 50% performance hit would make games unplayable.
I was also looking at 55" and under 4K passive 3D TV's but it seems that they either don't offer full 1080p er eye in passive mode or the 3D is not rated very well, with complaints of excessive crosstalk. I've only seen good reviews for passive 3D on sets that are 65" or over.

In other words 120 full frames are rendered. 60 odd lined frames + 60 even lined frames are sent, while the other half of each of these frames is discarded.
It would be 3840x2160i@60 to both eyes via 2 frames.
With one eye receiving 3840x1080 odd lines of the image and the other receiving the remaining even lines.
It would be 4K 3D performance requirement.

Yeah... unfortunately it does double the need of horsepower. I just bought my gtx 980 yesterdeay evening and immediately started working on this inf marriage project through the night... The only game I tried so far was Dmc 4. While it was stable 60 fps in 2D 4k, in 3D it was only 60 fps when my character was alone (no enemies)....
I have another idea though. There's that DSR thing that meant to render the game on higher resolution and then downsample it. We should somehow get to do the opposite. DSR with 0.5 res rendering. That would mean rendering at 1080p but interleaving it after it's scaled to 2160p.

My TV is a 49UB850V, that's what I extracted the EDID from. It should work with other 4k passive TV's too.

It would mean that the full detail of 1080p would come through and you wouldn't see those jaggy scanlines like on an 1080p TV set.

You can try it via the NVCP.
Open the "Change resolution" tab, select "Customize".
Now select "Create Custom Resolution"
When it opens immediately set it "Manual", instead of "Automatic"
Enter 1920 and 1080 in the top two boxes only.
Leave the "Active pixels set to 4K.
You'll have to bump the "Refresh rate" + or - 1, since there is already a similar profile.
