VorpX vs. 3D vision fixes? Can we get 3D vision fix's working with VorpX?
Oh Snap! You guys that just bought it are going to have to re-buy it.
Oh dear! :) There will be a grace period for new purchases, of course. Just like paid updates are handled for decades by countless software vendors around the world. No reason to assume anything else in case of vorpX. Apart from that there isn't even a set date yet for when that will happen the first time after many years of free updates.

I could agree on a paid update at a reasonable price, I've been using it since DK2 times, that's like 4 years of free support, I would gladly pay for an update at some point, even more if it adds regular 3d support. In terms of money, we were previously talking of supporting several thousand dollar development cycle that could take years for our shaderhackers to create a 3DV alternative, which meant risking their current jobs and no way to know if that would even succeed. I even mentioned I would donate 40 euro every month for this project, so if Vorpx can make a 3DV alternative for regular 3D hardware at the price of $40, that's a hell of a deal. Now I think (extremely subjetive point of view) most shaderhackers would probably support a 3D modude that allows Vorpx to work in regular 3D and use the current fixes. However I think a lot of 3d vision users don't have VR or don't really have any interest in it (anti VR arguments here are quite popular), so some kind of regular 3d option would need to be supported for monitors or TVs, otherwise I think shaderhackers would reject a Vorpx update that simply allows fixes to work in VR, and that's it. In the end, everyone would win, we rescue 3d as we know it at a cheap price and we keep our expensive hardware going, even being able to upgrade our software and our graphics cards since we're stuck with 2080ti for the foreseable future, hundreds of hours of hard work making amazing fixes don't go to waste, Vorpx gets a huge qualitative jump with hundreds of perfectly emulated 3d games and gets at least several hundred 3d gamers on the vorpx bandwagon, everyone wins.

I'm not 100% informed about your current situation, but it's my understanding that you can use the last driver with 3D-Vision support for an unlimited time, so there doesn't really seem to be any imminent need for a saviour as far as I can see. Anyways: Let's do one step after another. At this point I don't even know if anything will be possible at all. There are many things to consider here, one of them being that, just like anyone else's, my day only has 24hrs. If something comes out of my initial evaluation, you'll be the first to know.

Yeah it now works, but it won't in the future. Newer games will require driver upgrades, better graphic cards, windows updates will break support, etc. The current backlog will always work with old drivers and cards, but it will have to be in isolated Windows partitions made specifically for it, and anything new won't probably work in a year or so. I'm glad that you can at least give it a look and hopefully find a solution, good luck with that *fingers crossed* :)
Apart from that there isn't even a set date yet for when that will happen the first time after many years of free updates.
Perhaps you can find a way to do it like Cyberlink PowerDVD Ultra does. Add some new features that are unavailable in the existing version, then for current owners, it's a simple upgrade at a reduced price, like DLC. New purchasers must pay full price with the previous version depreciated / no longer for sale. Perhaps dx12 or Vulkan support being added?

Shameless plug for 3DV: 3DV fixes support added in some manner for hundreds of games (albeit the plugin itself would be "open Source" to prevent copyright issues). Personally, I'd happily buy VorpX again for that.

@RD: I appreciate that. However, you might be far more effective in your attempts to get what you want by not promising everyone and their mother riches beyond belief. The way you try it is way too obvious to be taken seriously, trust me. :)

I don't see any "promises" being made, however I do see a "Shameless plug" ;-) On a positive note, great accomplishments begin with wild dreams; whether they come to fruition exactly as expected is another question altogether. - In the 1930's, if someone said we'd be landing on the moon in 30 years, or tried to explain the internet, people would have called you crazy... yet here we are. Whether you can make it happen or not, right now VorpX is the closest we have to another working 3DV-like driver. Sincerely, I believe in our shaderhackers and modders, and I absolutely believe that you can do it Ralf! Whether or not you choose to spend your time on it is different matter altogether :)

Sure. And now imagine all the wonderful things you could accomplish by taking action yourself instead of telling others about it day in, day out. :)

That's great, I'm happy for you. You can achieve everything, really, even flying to the moon. I believe in you too, Shazad.

Oh damn, that shouldn't have happened. I'll try to make up for it another time, promise. Maybe one day we meet among the stars. Now just a crazy dream of mine, but who knows what the future will bring. Anything is possible afterall.
