Low Half Life 2 3D Performance
Hello, first time to the forums. :) Anyway, I came here to ask, has anyone else tried to play Half Life 2 (or at least the hl2.exe reliant games) in 3D? I play it, but when I play, say, Garry's Mod, even at the lowest resolution with the lowest settings and no AA, I get around 23-25 FPS (Im running two GTX 460's in SLI btw :P) I looked in EVGA Precision and noticed my gpu usage was cut in half and was just prancin' about around 50% on both cards. Please help. I think it would be nice to be able to play TF2 and see a rocket flying into your face in 3D without crappy framerates.

Hi

We posted a driver update 270.51 which improved performance for all HL-2 Based games, except Team Fortress 2. What drivers are you using?

gotta search the betas. On the nvidia driver page, below the search bars, you should see a list under "Drivers" called "Beta and archived drivers". Then you should be able to get the new betas.

Hi 270.51 are Beta. You can read more here. We specifically improved performance of HL2, so I would love to hear that it works fine.

If none of those work, turn off the laser crosshair (ctrl+12)
That seems to have been the main cause of the slowdown in the past (haven't tried it with the new beta drivers though, I'll assume it's been fixed.)

Hi

the fix we have in 270.51 is to improve the crosshair performance, which results in an overall increase in game FPS.

Hi, Andrew, will TF2 performance be fixed in future drivers? I like this game very much, but have to play it in 2D because of crosshair bugs and performance loss.

This runs silky smooth on my gtx 260 at 720p and even at 1080p @24fps it doesn't seem to drop below 24.
