Windows 10 Megathread - Please keep Win10 discussions here
  1 / 21
Please keep discussion on Windows 10 to this thread for now, to avoid clogging up the forum with a whole lot of Windows 10 threads. We can use this thread to discover problems and solutions, and keep things nice and tidy. -------------------- Firstly, please do NOT upgrade to Windows 10 yet! Not unless you're prepared to do quite a lot of testing and troubleshooting. There are also some other big reasons: -If you are a 3D TV Play user, the activation servers are down. Upgrading to Windows 10 may invalidate your activation, and you will not be able to reactivate unless nVidia get their act together and fix it - and who knows how long that will take? -It is not well-tested. You will almost certainly run into new and unique problems. If you want to test Windows 10, please install it to a secondary hard drive, and use it as a test bed. Don't rely on it as your main OS. I'll probably set up a thread dedicated to posting Windows 10 test results, to try and see where any problems might lie. I'm fairly optimistic based on my testing of the preview, but more testing is definitely needed.

Wow. Here's a monumentally stupid reason why you shouldn't upgrade to Windows 10 just yet. http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2015/07/28/windows-10-wifi-sharing/

Pretty sure as long as you don't do an express install you'll get the option to turn it off. Or, as stated, just turn it off after you're done installing. I should add though, it's a good "heads up". I didn't know about this at all.

Not sure if I saw this during the initial Account Setup on or not but I did see it somewhere when poking around in the Windows 10 Preview ... all I remember was going through all the Options, Share this > Off, Share that > Off, Off, Off, Off. Lol. Edit:And what a chore it was to get NVIDIA Drivers installed on the thing, there's a 550ti in it. Tried installing the Driver from NVIDIA, install failed. Tried getting Driver from Microsoft, nothing. Tried manually installing, failed. Somewhere along the line it showed up as a 550ti after failing the manual install ... and then I was able to install the usual way, sans 3D Vision ...

I was going to dump it on a laptop for now to play around with, I'll be waiting a few months for my gaming machine.

I've just looked in the latest Beta Drivers 353.62 and I saw that 3D Vision is "back". I see both the 3D Vision Emitter firmware as well as the 3D Vision NV driver, so I expect everything should work as on Windows 7/8.1. Anyone can confirm that 3D Vision works under Windows 10 with the latest drivers? Cheers!

Another note of caution for upgraders- you can revert back to your prior OS, but the FAQ now says that you only have 30 days to do that. So, careful with that Win7 license. Best to let other people be the early adopters and find all the gotchas.

Download a Windows 7 Set of Drivers and Run them, after it Extracts all the files into C:\NVIDIA\ hit Cancel, to Cancel the Installation. Now find the 3D Vision Installer location, something like C:\NVIDIA\DisplayDriver\353.30\Win8_WinVista_Win7_64\International\NV3DVision and Run the 3DVision.exe to Install 3D Vision. Worked fine to enable 3D Vision Discover on my Windows 10 rig. :)
The 353.62 drivers come with 3D VIsion as seen in the below image: I expect they removed the AUTOmatic installation of 3D Vision in the Setup Wizard... I expect it should work as well so no need for downloading the Win7 drivers. Can anyone confirm or infirm this?

*sigh* ... that's what I get for assuming if it was actually in there, it would actually be listed during the install. Lol? I can't test it at the moment but I'm sure it works just the same, nice find btw. ;) Edit: I could have sworn I read somewhere that they weren't included with the Win 10 Drivers ...

I installed driver 353.62 via windows update and 3D control panel installed. The strange thing I had to disable driver signing to install via windows update.
