Big thanks to the Helix, Eqzitara and the Helix mod massive!
Let's be honest, AndrewF etc should take a leaf out of the Helix mod collective; those dudes have done far more for 3D Vision this last year than nVidia have. They have also proved themselves to be reliable and helpful 'goto guys' for info etc on their blog site whilst these boards have been down. Thanks and kudos guys. @nVidia What have you to say for yourselves then?

What have you to say for yourselves then?

Lord, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.

Agreed, the helixmod folks have done an amazing job this past year, can't thank them enough. Even just a couple of problems in popular games are enough to put people off 3D game play, and having these guys on top of the fixes has helped enormously in ease of gameplay and viewing comfort. That said, with reopening of the forums, maybe we should start an era of being a bit more tolerant toward nVidia. Given the small percentage of card owners playing in 3D, they do a fairly good job of updating the profiles in their drivers to accommodate us. Between nVidia getting the profiles most of the way there, and the helixmod folks getting the last few fixes in place which nVidia didn't nail in the driver release, 3D vision is looking better than ever.

Helixmod is really the only reason 3D vision has any real use now. Nvidia owes everyone involved with providing and supporting the Helixmod fixes for each game. Whatever bonuses are paid at the director level and up for any Nvidia employee with any authority on the 3D Vision product line should be given to the Helixmod crew. The Nvidia excuse of 'it's the game coder's issue' got old fast. Yes, the game coder could resolve the issues. And yes, unless a game is already pretty good with 3D vision drivers enabled there isn't anything Nvidia can do about it. However, as the Helixmod proves there is a great deal that the drivers can do to compensate for a game's shortcomings. Instead of lame/lazy/cheap green text that tries to tell you what doesn't work in 3D why not correct it where possible? Instead of all the hidden options in SLi and 3D Vision profiles why not expose them to the user? This is a thread for cheering the contributions of the people behind the Helixmod fixes. Nvidia, you need to hire those people. Terminate the executives responsible for 3D Vision as they have only been justifying the poor decisions they have been making for years. Replace them with the people behind the Helixmod fixes as they have definitively shown they know what the 3D Vision product needs to gain market share and boost sales. Oculus Rift is going to destroy the 3D Vision market share if Nvidia doesn't get their act together real quick. Don't be fooled by your own marketing hype Nvidia. Only the games you've rated as "Excellent" have the potential to sell the product. The "Good" rating and below is only so marketing can print numbers in the hundreds instead of the teens. A consumer that tries one of the "Good" or "Fair" games isn't coming back and is telling their associates on face-book and twitter that 3D Vision isn't worth it. Apply the Helixmods at the native Nvidia driver level and the "Good" changes to "Excellent" out-of-the-box. Thank you Helix, Eqzitara, and everyone else who has identified problem shaders so they can be altered! Your time and effort have made the $1,000.00's I've spent directly on 3D Vision related hardware from Nvidia actually deliver on Nvidia claims.

Errr, if you fire the executive responsible for 3D Vision, there won't be anybody to sign HeliX's paycheck! I don't think he's going to quit his day job for unsigned checks no matter how big the number is on them. ;) I don't know about you but one of the first games I played a lot in 3D Vision was The Last Remnant. It's pretty terrible in 3D, really. Outside of battle it's completely mangled and even inside battles the massive UI tends to mess up pop-out. But I was still floored by it! I would have definitely been screaming praises on Facebook and Twitter if I had actually been using the things. Instead I just screamed praises on forums. But yeah, the HeliX team makes a LOT more games playable. They deserve a HUGE thanks!

The very powerful and the very stupid have one thing in common. Instead of altering their views to fit the facts, they alter the facts to fit their views ... which can be very uncomfortable if you happen to be one of the facts that needs altering.

Nvidia 3D Vision is greatly bolstered by the work of Helix and the other folks over there. The work of a just a handful of people, and one guy in particular, has such a big impact on the 3D gaming community's quality of gaming and the value of Nvidia 3D Vision. For the time being, both gamers and Nvidia benefit from this small modding community. I think there are two significant points about this. 1. Helix mod reveals that it does not take a large team or a large amount of time (relatively speaking) to make major improvements. We can see that 3D Vision would benefit a lot if Nvidia could hire one talented programmer to work on fixes full time. 2. The fact that the Helix mod is a community effort, and a small one, means that this is all very fragile. When Helix gets tired of doing so much work as a hobby, or loses interested in or time for 3D gaming, or decides to move onto something else, then this is gone (or greatly reduced). Create a position for the the guy or someone like him, and it's another story.

Couldn't agree more with the comments on this page. NVidia should hire the Helix guys lock stock and barrel.
