3d vision driver poor performance 980gtx in Trine 2
Hi everyone, I'm experiencing an issue when attempting to run Trine 2. When 3d Vision is enabled (EDID override on passive TV) I'm getting about 30-53 fps regular and 15-23 fps in 3d. With the driver disabled, my fps are pinned at 100. I've tried both the 347.52 drivers and the current ones and have the same issues. I've also tried clean installing all drivers. I can't install older 3d vision drivers because the installers aren't compatible with the 980GTX. I saw another topic on here where someone was running Trine 2 in 3d at 4k around 40fps. Is this a problem unique to me? Any ideas? Also, performance appears to be fine in other games. Thanks Specs: EVGA 980GTX Superclocked 2600k stock 8gb Ram Win 7 64 Intel SSD

Most people have this problem with Trine 2, I don't think anyone has worked out a solution. I believe an update made it much more CPU-dependent than it was previously. If you go to properties-betas in Steam, you can downgrade to older versions - that might work.

I would turn off 3d vision and turn on 3d interleaved in the options for trine. I'm crippled with 3d vision on but if I select checkerboard from trine options, everything is smooth.

Interesting about the CPU part. Is it because "Enhanced" is based on the PS4 port? Not even sure that's true, but if it were, could it be it's optimized for six cores?

What is interesting is that on 2x780 SLI - in 2D I get 100 fps - in 3D I get constant 50-55fps BUT!!! - If 3D Vision driver is enabled I get more GPU usage (around 15-20%) more in 2D (3D disabled in game) than I get in normal 2D with 3D Vision driver disabled. I think the 3D Vision driver is doing something wrong... I know there is an overhead but 15% on each GPU??? seems a bit too much...

I disabled 3d vision and used line-interlaced in the launcher instead of the automatic/3d vision setting. Now playing in 3d at 100fps constant. Definitely a 3d vision driver issue as Helifax pointed out. Thanks for the replies!

I'm afflicted by this too :/ It's such a shame, Trine 1 was beautiful in 3D, I can't bring myself to play the game in 2D, it's such a waste.
