Considering purchasing ED LCD 3D glasses Some questions
Hello, I am considering purchasing some ED 3D LCD compatible glasses for my PC.

I have a sony 20 inch LCD monitor? I think.

3.0 ghz processor
1022MB RAM
Nvidia Geforce 7800 GT

I was going to buy the glasses and the "DVD to 3d converter program".

How much trouble is it setting all this up? I see all of you talking about "stereo drivers", and refresh rates and allll the this technical stuff, I'm not too familar with.

How many things will I have to do/download once I get my ED glasses hooked up?

I had these old ED glasses that were for CRT monitors but that was a while back, and they worked alright I remember, kind of hurt my eyes at times though.

Also, what exactly entails the setup? I see three different chords coming out of my LCD monitor in the back do I unplug one of those and attach something else which in turn the other plug plugs into the new plug which I plug into my LCD monitor, I mean, how extensive is the setup?

Thanks for any info/help. :D

Come on guys, I need some help, I need to make sure this is a good purchase

What all will I have to do once I get my glasses, all that "changing the stereo seperation" or something....cooome on guys

I mean I see a topic above talkin about the 7600 GT, well I have the 7800 GT, and do the stereo drivers work for it?

And if not will I not be able to use my 3D Glasses or what, come on, this is 100 bucks, I want to get these things now, but I need some answers :(

The answer I will give you is a cryptic one, because once you are using LCD in stereo, it's buyer beware.

Yes, the drivers should work with your 7800GT. Do a search on this forum for 82.12 and related posts. That will tell you what works and what doesn't with the stereo beta driver.

The bigger concern is the LCD monitor itself. I'm afraid LCD has terrible ghosting problems, and a used CRT is almost always the better investment in this case.

Make sure Edimensional has a rock solid 100% money back guarantee. As you said, it's $100 - and you are either going to love, or regret spending it.

Good luck,

Chopper

Thanks man, what exactly is ghosting though? and why would LCD's have it and not CRT's?

Also in my nvida panel, I can change my refresh rate BUT in my nornal control panel display settings the highest (and only choice) it shows is 60 hertz...and on the ED site it says a minimum of 70 hz, so do I manually use the nvidia panel to change it, or will that damage my monitor, and should I just try it out at 60 hertz?

Thanks again

Here are some sites that will answer your questions:

http://forums.stereovision.net
http://www.stereo3d.com

To be honest, my direct experience with LCD monitors and stereo is nil, but the forums have a lot of information with plenty of people willing to lend a helping hand.

To get started, you will need:

1. The latest Forceware driver.
2. 82.12 Beta Stereo Driver

Edimensional has a support page as well.

Ghosting is an annoying double image you get with stereo. The technology works on the premise of alternating images between eyes very quickly - but it's imperfect. After a time, ghosting won't bother you at all.

I can't answer your other questions because I only have CRT monitors.

Chopper
