After trying X Rebirth I started seeking for other space sim games, and discovered Freelancer with Crossfire mod that revamps graphics and expands universe. Very fun game and surprisingly looks great in 3D with some minor issues. Maybe our 3D Vision Gods could look into it? Main issue is 2D crosshair that makes it hard to aim. Also there are lighting problems here and there, nothing big.

I finally dug up my copy of this game and noticed a HUD problem in widescreen. There is an ini file to change resolution since in game resolutions are limited being an older game. I set mine to 1920x1080 and the problem is specifically the HUD on top centre screen which is vital to navigate gameplay elements. It is completely off screen. While the 3D seems to work ok, without the top HUD for game navigation, it is pointless. I did some searching on the web and there is mod that fixes this very problem for widescreen resolutions. This bodes well for 3D settings. In case anyone is interested, I've included the link. It worked well for me.

I have just started to play and I agree with what mindw0rk indicated in terms of minor issues.

Slightly off-topic, but the Star Citizen dogfighting alpha is due to be released later this year, its by Chris Roberts who made Wing Commander and Freelancer. You can back the game for $40 which gives access to the alpha and beta and the full game Squadron 42 based on Wing Commander, and the persistent MP universe based on Freelancer hopefully next year.
Currently they have released a hangar so you can see the ship(s) you have pledged for (crwodfunded) when the persistent universe launches, next is the dogfighting alpha test later in the year, after that there will be planetside interactions like in Freelancer, and then an FPS based ship boarding alpha test.
It uses Cryengine, so the 3D may not work out amazingly, but they are adding Oculus Rift support as well. https://robertsspaceindustries.com/about-the-game if you're interested.

Star Citizen gonna be the biggest game ever for immersion. Im checking their forums daily and tomorrow (Nov, 26) they introduce new ships. The game surely has to be on radar of anyone who is enjoying 3D gaming, since SC will have full Oculus Rift support

[s]In regards to the HUD, does the game have it's own profile? You could try some different profiles maybe one will work, or at least lock the HUD at screen depth.[/s]
edit: nevermind I misunderstood that it's just a widescreen issue ... was thinking convergence.
