CRT blank wizard screen[discovery mode] It should work, but...
Hi.
I have an old CRT monitor, it is Eizo t57s, it can display 120 Hz+ at certain resolutions, but i want only to run 3d discovery mode, so simply - anaglyph mode, but i can't, i think it should work.
When i try to run the 3d wizard or check enable 3d screen turns black i see only out of range message, but the vertical hz is ok it's on 85 hz but the
horizontal is out of range with 105 khz, i'm using 195.62, i was also using 195.81 but results was the same.
My friend has a normal lcd monitor and he can see the wizard, i have check also his hz when the wizard is in front i was 60 hz for vertical and 96 khz for horizontal, so why i see 106 khz horizontal out of range message ?
I can also do alt+tab when the screen goes black after running wizard and the screen is back and wizard is then in taskbar i can only right click it and close or back to him - then i see again black screen. My gpu is 8600 gt. I'm connecting my crt to pc with d-sub.
I was also checking a couple of resolutions & refresh rates before running wizard but NO MATTER what i do it always display a black screen with 85 vhz and 106 khz horizontal out of range.
So maybe it changes always to some strange resolution, can someone tell me what this resolution is, can i change it somehow ? I was thinking that 3d discover mode works on all displays ? If it is true, why i can't enable it. I'm an advanced user but i'm running out of ideas PLEASE HELP someone.

I had thesame issues as you had, but I don't know if it's caused by thesame problems. I went through alot of hassle to get the wizard running. The following link helped me alot with this: clicky.
Especially jabuki's 2nd post did the trick, after the cable mod. Discovery mode works, now I only have to get the wizard to recognize my display as a hd-ready display. I have a Iiyama visionmaster pro 510 CRT display, which is capable of doing some awesome refresh rates, so it should be compatible.

Ok i don't believe it but i found a solution for everyone with this strange CRT problems.
The Problem - when you have an generic crt monitor - vista or 7 installs it also as a generic monitor with a generic set of
resolutions and refresh rates with a generic driver.
The generic driver then allow to select from the nvidia panel or system menu a resolution that isn't supported by the crt even if it is listed, it is all ok because the generic driver with generic resolutions is used when system can not obtain the supported resolutions from the display device when it is plugged in (so most time it will be older crt monitors without EDID system) and thus it enables the user to choose the right resolution by self.
But here is the real problem with this approach - i don't know why but when you run the 3d wizard it seem it always change the resolution and refresh rate to the highest available that i listed in the system - so if you have a generic driver as i have it can choose for you a mode that is not supported by your crt and then it goes to a black screen and an out of range message. So that's it - this is the problem.
I ran into discovering this problem reason in a quite lucky way, desperate i have start to changing the crt driver to a eizo t57s driver (yes it is available for vista/7 duh) and then i see that the available resolution has changed, also adding a 1080p resolution but with very high refresh (higher that 100hz+) as the max capable for my display, of course i can run 1080p resolution but at max 60 hz, so i just run the 3d wizard again and i see again the black screen and out of range message but now the out of range message has different parameters values it was 150 v hz and 150 h khz so then it has dazzled me ! I have quick back to screen and then try to change the resolution to the max that is listed in the system and when i do that i see the same out of range parameters values as when i run 3d wizard recently - so then i already knew that the problem is that wizard is changing to the max setting that my monitor can't run!
So what's with the solution of this problem - here it is:
You can use rivaTuner and create a driver for your monitor with monitor driver wizard:

You can set a maximum resolution and refresh rates that you know your monitor can run.
Then you click Create and save it, for me i have created this .inf file with 1280 x 1024 85 hz max:
[Strings]
MFG = "EIZO NANAO"
MODEL = "EIZO 3D"
Then you just update your monitor driver with this inf and the difference is now that the max available setting in the
system will be 1280 x 1024 x 85 so when the 3d wizard will try to change the resolution to the max available in the system it will choose that which you have entered as the max when creating the driver and thus the screen will no more go to out of range message and 3d wizard will just appear and all will work.
