Yeah i misspoke. Swooping has same problem as running it seems. Based on that video at least. It seemed equal on both eyes as i was playing. I didnt feel the need to run at all in the game. It makes lots of sound, ran under 10 times on my whole playthrough, which lasted 40 hours.
Im pretty sure i tried all of those options and they didnt affect the blur.
aha - so just like mine. Good to know that at least swoop is unaffected (I haven't gotten far enough in the game to see swoop myself).
sammy123, does the right-eye blur go away if you mess with the motionblur, motionblurpause, DOF, or radialblur settings in baseengine.ini?
Ops, i forgot to tweak .ini file. Heres another one, with above settings disabled. I changed them from true to false in baseengine.ini. Dont know if it takes anything else to disable those. 720p instead of 1080p this time. Quality check... Doesnt happen to make any difference, blur still there.

ok, so the verdict seems clear: both sprinting and swooping are b0rked with one-eyed blur, and changing blur settings in baseengine.ini does nothing to change that.
Looks like I have to either play Thief in 2D or wait for an eventual community fix that may or may not come :(
I don't know how you guys can play the whole game with that blur - it's almost physically painful to my eyes. Just goes to show how specific to the individual 3D is, like how some people get motion sickness with the Rift, whereas I get none at all.
btw, thanks for doing those tests, sammy123

I waited the game so long that my choice was 2d or 3d with minor to medium annoyance. Once i turned off hud, reticle and waypoint marker, only annoyance left was that blur. It caused eyestrain for sure, but i powered through it and got kind of used to it. At least to the point where it wasnt "painful". It helped me alot that i didnt use run button almost at all. "Swoop" was used pretty often, and i certainly wish the blur would not occur.
Someone complained about 2d fog too, it can be disabled according to this.

im usually the nitpicker when it comes to 3d, i was one of the first ones to notice pacific rim blu-ray 3d errors which caused same type of eyestrain that this blur does. But im glad i got to experience thief in 3d, was worth it even with the flaws.

ok, I found out how to remove the one-eyed blur!
As mentioned above, disabling MotionBlur in baseengine.ini doesn't actually do anything. I found at least two other .ini files that also contain a MotionBlur setting, but the one that finally worked for me was
...\SteamApps\common\Thief\ThiefGame\Config\DefaultEngine.ini
Turning "MotionBlur" to "False" in that file removes the blur while sprinting, at least on my PC. I assume it does so also for the Swooping blur, though I haven't encountered Swooping in my game yet.
I still haven't figured out how to remove the 2D fog though. Using the tweak that sammy123 linked to above didn't fix it for me (it turned some fog into glitchy purple shapes, while leaving other fog untouched).

The 2D fog is only mildly annoying. Assuming the small beginning section I've seen is indicative of the rest of the game, I would certainly rate it playable. The depth could be a bit deeper - it certainly isn't dramatically and cavernously deep like some games - but it seems more or less realistic (many games with 100% depth look amazingly deep but cartoonishly exxagerated)
I will probably play it myself now, rather than waiting for an eventual fix.
I hope Foulplay99 is reading this, because it seems to me that s/he had the same problem.

Le depth is really to weak on monitors with the native/3Dvision 3D and with my 55" 3DTV I get 4,5cm max in depth, which is still too low... So I use TriDef for Thief, where you can put 100% depth.
With TriDef, dynamic shadows are broken, and smoke are 2D, but fog is OK.
You can delete dynamic shadows by editing the line:
DynamicShadows=True
by
DynamicShadows=False
in
...\SteamApps\common\Thief\ThiefGame\Config\ThiefEngine.ini

No, I just was using the Mavros hack from TTLG on patch 1.2 :
http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=143411&page=2 (post #32)
and made a little more search to find the new string
(No need to decompress the thiefgame.u file first)

How are you guys playing with the 2D aiming recticle? Makes aiming the bow almost impossible. Anyway to fix this? Also, Nvidia laser sight doesn't seem to work properly either.

Apparently Mantle has improved Thief's performance by up to 23%................but it still won't be as good as what nvidia's upcoming drivers will do in regular directX: http://wccftech.com/nvidias-directx-11-driver-better-mantle-api-benchmark/
If this graph is true, then it's a great sign that, by finally pulling their thumb out of their arse and providing some half-decent competition, AMD have forced nvidia to pull theirs out too!
I've no idea when this new driver is supposed to come out, but I guess maybe simply in the next driver cycle?

lol. I like how the nvidia designers made each nvidia driver iteration a richer green than the last, while for AMD, they represented Mantle with the offputting low-saturation colour of bleached meat. Ah, marketing bollocks - you gotta love it.
