The stuttering is the DX11 issue. You have to wait for the patch. Turning off AA and all those other things might help a bit, but it sounds like there is some fundamental bug that needs a patch.

Excellent summary for those who were unsure of the differences. Best way is to check the differences for yourself and let your own eyes be the judge. While 3D does give a natural AA effect, I still find some AA to be beneficial, especially transparency AA with gratings/fences and sometimes foliage to reduce any shimmering effects while moving.

You should be able to turn on both simultaneously, unfortunately the launcher only allows you a choice of MSAA or FXAA, unlike BF3 and some other games that allow you to combine the two directly in the game settings. If you set FXAA to High in the launcher, then open up NVCP and use "Enhance" or even "Override", you should be able to force 2xMSAA and TrAA on top of the FXAA. If you already run 2xMSAA there's really not much reason not to enable FXAA also since its easily the most efficient form of AA, virtually free even with MSAA enabled. There's a BF3 comparison over on GeForce.com that clearly illustrates the differences in combined AA and the difference is worthwhile imo.

I definatelly didn't notice any any aliasing while playing Batman in 3D using my Samsung TV yesterday. I want to improve my performance with DX11 since it's stuttering a lot in the outdoor scenes. I'm going to try out 2XMSAA to see if it improves performance compared to FXAA(high). I don't care about combining different types of AA, since AA is not really needed for 3D like you guys agreed. I want to improve performance, so combining AA types won't help, I guess I'll just use 2XMSAA since someone here said it's the best appearance/performance ratio. I can't tell any difference between 2XMSAA or 8, 16XMSAA in 3D, I really can't. Some games in 3D I don't even see a difference with AA on and off. But I usually always set AA on, but 2X or 4X the most. On a few games where I get really awesome performance, than what the hell, I just pump AA all the way to 32XMSAA. Now, if I was playing in 2D, then I would set AA to the maximum possible setting.

I prefer to play Batman with AA on, no matter if it's just 2XMSAA, but if I still get choppy performance, than I'll consider turning AA off til a new patch that fixes DX11 stuttering FPS is released. What I won't do is play an amazing and beautiful game like Batman in DX9, not with the setup I have, it's a waste of money and time. There's no coming back to DX9 and 2D, this is past for me, it's DX11 and 3D all the way...

I'm amazed how some folks trade crispy quality for better frame rates and old graphics. Some games are very playable at 30fps, and Batman is one of those games. 30fps is even the console average for most games.
Even BF3 which is a very heavy game, I have all settings maximized and AA4X, I get an average of 40fps most of the time in 3D, but I woudn't play in a lower resolution than my display native resolution which is 1080p, just to get 60fps. And I agree 60fps for games like BF3 make a difference, but I don't play MP very often, just SP, so I want to see the best graphics I can get, even if sometimes the frames drop below 30 period. Batman has a performance issue, I know it's not my PC, cause it goes from 40 to 15fps without doing nothing, so it's a bug definatelly.

If I didn't care about graphics, I would be happy with a PS3 or Xbox 360.

DX11 implementation in the game itself is the problem; there are no settings to address the performance problems other than turning off DX11 and reverting to DX9. WB/Rocksteady have already acknowledged the problem and stated they will be releasing a patch for DX11 performance "in the near future".

You can read through the article and save yourself some of the troubleshooting steps of turning off features and retesting one by one. Right now, if you want DX11 eye candy, you get stutters and low framerate drops in return, there's no getting around it.

I really prefer robust geometry, clean high-res textures, lots of pixels, and high FPS over all the other bells and whistles in 3D. Still, all the eye-candy in the world won't save a game if it runs poorly or choppy, or no longer gives the sense of fluid motion. Perfect recent example would be Alice: Madness Returns which defaults to 31FPS max. Editing the .ini to allow 60FPS is a night and day difference in either 2D or 3D.

I've played Batman yesterday for a few hours and I'm astonished with this game. It's graphics are really something, the scenario, characters everything was really well done, feels like I'm playing a movie.
It's the 1st game I'm really playing using my 63" Plasma TV and it's awesome to play this amazing game in 3D in such a big screen, it's really crazy. As I kept playing yesterday I coudn't believe me eyes, I wish I had some friends of mine with me at that time, so they could really see the difference between a high end PC and their outdated PS3. I'm sure they would feel like throwing their consoles into the toilet, LOL.

I'm still using DX11 and getting stuttering FPS sometimes, but it's playable most of the time. I decided to use Frame Sequential 1080p60hz = 30fps per eye cause it has better quality than CB 1080p60hz and as the game has issues with DX11, I think 30fps is OK for the game. If they fix the DX11 issues with a future patch, I may consider playing in checkerboard mode so I can get 40-60fps. Right now considering the low fps I'm getting, I think 30fps average is OK, since FS mode gives me a max of 30fps cause any 3DTV out there works in 60hz, not 120hz like most 3D displays. It's the image processor that works in 600hz, but that's a different thing.

Well ... even with the new BETA patch the game is unplayable with DX 11 "on" and with the new extreme setting "on" (No aa No Physx) i get 20 - 25 FPS when gaming in 3Dn.

3D "off" and it plays really well (16Q AA Physx High) Extreme settings and DX 11 "on"

Did not think that a game like Batman would bring my 2 x GTX 580 to it´s knees :0(

So if we want to play it in all it´s glory it will be without 3D it seems ... /wallbash.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':wallbash:' />

Maybe the official patch will be better, but i think not ...

Errr, Warner Bros. already said it was their issue and they will fix it in a future patch. Just put it away until they finish the game.

I'm kinda with The Sleeper. I was quite taken with the choppy performance. Batman: AA ran like butter in 3D with everything cranked on my machine. Even with DX11 all off, low/no AA and low physx I found the game < 60fps. Hopefully the patch, the newest nvidia drivers and a spare card for Physx will fix that in the near future. Still hooked on Skyrim anyway /wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />

The game looks and runs great in DX9 for me but since I have a lot of games to play currently I think I will wait for the devs to fix DX11 issue for this game.

Has anyone tried the leaked patch that fixes DX11 issues in Batman AC????

I have a Steam version and would love to try it out, I have even downloaded the patch. http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2264148

The thing is I read that some folks are having issues after installing the patch, like not being able to save games using a online GFWL profile, is that true? I am using a online profile to save my games on GFWL, and I'm afraid that after trying out this leaked patch I may loose my save games, or not being able to save my progress from now on. Can anyone confirm that??? Or Can I install this leaked patch and use a offline profile to save my progress from now on, as long as I don't lose my old progress that was saved in my online GFWL profile?

Another thing I'm curious about, If I try this leaked patch, and the official patch comes out, will it install over the leaked one, or not???
I just wish I knew more about this, don't want to mess up my game progress, no way...

Installing a leaked patch sounds like bad news. If the exe isn't signed by MS the windows live stuff will be broke and report you as using a hacked exe that, although doubtful, could land your account in trouble. Why bother? If it was ready for prime time it would be out there...

dx 11 doesn't work on my rig either. i7 2600k + gtx 580 sli. It crushes in the beginning when I load the game in 3d(haven't tried 2d yet). It works perfect when I turn off dx11 effect though. This is bummer.. It's like waiting for crysis 2 dx11 patch. I bought crysis 2 on the day it came out and actually waited like 3 months till they release dx11 patch to experience it at its full potential. Guess I will go beat batman: arkham asylum first while they are making dx11 fix patch. :(

This game is AMAZING in 3D Vision!

I am playing on 50` Panasonic PT50GT25 using latest beta and GTS450 with 3DTV Play. (Dual CPU Intel x5550 16 core Nehalem 12G DDR3 1333)

Getting 60fps in 720p. Using the Default 15% 3D Vision setting is the BEST. Don't be confused by the depth with this game. Just leave it at 15% and forget about it. I Max out a lot of games but this one does not need it.
