From the videos I've seen on youtube looks like 2.5, is it? Dunno about the game but the design looks pretty cool. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vaXtAu42KRI

It reminded me The Deadly Tower of Monsters with all these weird vintage style. I love vintage cartoons and weird things and this game looks delicious. BTW TDTOM is a brilliant game which has a great 3DV fix.

This game could be a blast in 2.5D, but unforunatelly I can't make it work ! 3D kicks in with 3Dmigoto but it's totally flat, I've tried different profiles among them Google Earth which is known for being able to seperate layers, but all it did was making 2 layers, one with the cartoon noise and the other the picture it self. Also I wasn't able to hunt down any shader responsible for the bluryness, which also makes it not so great for 3D !! So it has to be another refund :(

Thank you for taking a look at it, I wasn't even sure it was 2.5.

This game is amazing. Rock hard though! Love the art style and music. Especially the shop keepers voice! Instant classic!

This game will be the guinea pig of something I've always wanted to do: stereoizing a 2D game by creating layers, texture by texture (sending them to different depth formulas). But I can't promise perfect results. After (finally) learning how to do texture filtering in 3Dmigoto, I've done it partially, in some levels. Results are pretty decent, but alt+tabbing is annoying. Thankfully I can usually get away with ten or more alt+tabs per session. But textures aren't used for individual elements. They are more like assets with multiple textures inside. Fortunately most elements inside a texture are used for things that have similar "depth" ingame. But there are exceptions that I can't avoid. The game in 3D will be more similar to how "Dust: An Elysian Tail" looks rather than "Ori and the Blind Forest". Still better than Dust, I think. Or at least I will try. I'm making 4 layers of depth, them being convergence dependant except for one that is at 100% depth. Btw, there will be hotkeys for HUD toggle and its depth, and also a toggle for film grain + chromatic aberration. Are there any suggestions or ideas about making this better/cooler? I guess separating texture elements from the coordinates the game takes from textures would be too much or almost impossible (and it would increase a lot my amount of work). The "TextureOverride" is already pretty long after just about 3 game levels :p. Edit: is there a way to mark textures with colors, like pink? Sometimes it's hard to identify some textures. It's trees, more trees, more trees... very similar things.

Totally cool idea masterotaku, you're a true 3D pioneer :) Well I won't ask for more hotkeys, I know you'll cover all my needs there, the most important is the film grain, I have seen it separated, what an ugly sight !! What about special effects, separated smoke, light shafts or something like that.. Try look at these pics from "Candle", I think they look gorgeous ! Good luck, I can't wait to see the result :)

Examples (with different convergence each, and no film grain): In the end I needed more layers of depth. I'm using 5, but with some extra states to do different things depending on the "y" position. That way I can separate some foreground elements from background elements. Although sometimes the needed formula is the opposite, so I may need more states. About smoke, it depends. If it's a texture (I've seen some in the roller coaster boss), it's possible to disable it. But it isn't like fullscreen fog or anything. I'll think about it. This fix will take a while. Every level has different textures. By default everything is at the same depth as Cuphead. The rest of depths are manual.

Amazing work masterotaku, it really looks great !! I had never thought it could could be fixed, I understand that it must be very time consuming, and hopefully also funny in the process :)

Very nice masterotaku! i always wanted to do this with a game, but never found one that was possible (because the layer can't be separated or the game is plain 2D). And this game is the best choice to do this!! and is great that can be made.

Here is a work in progress version, so I can have some feedback (and just in case my PC explodes or something): https://s3.amazonaws.com/masterotaku/Cuphead/Cuphead_WIP2.7z REMEMBER to use the "-window-mode exclusive" command to run the game. It's a Unity game. It contains depth layers for all boss levels of worlds 1 and 2, except for the restaurant one (impossible to do because it has most elements in just one texture). Run & gun stages are "half assed" because of the way the game packs textures for them. I haven't touched the last run & gun level of world 2. The most time consuming levels were the ones that have an animated background. What a pain, almost 100 and almost 80 textures respectively for those backgrounds. Hotkeys: - F1 or right stick button: convergence presets. - F2 or left stick button: HUD depth presets. - F3: HUD toggle. - F4: film grain + chromatic aberration + pause blurring toggle. I have configured the game profile to make Cuphead (the character, not the game) be at screen depth (convergence is 1). The world map is flat (what can be done there anyway?). I'll start world 3 after sleeping, and I may revisit old levels to improve them. In the end I made even more possible layers. Making this fix is fun.

Great masterotaku :) Anyone knows where there is a better bargain than the lousy 15% on Steam ?

https://isthereanydeal.com/search/?q=cuphead#/page:game/price?plain=cuphead I bought it on GOG while the winter sale lasted. It was 15% off on GOG until a day and a half ago (and also some money back because of paying in €). I was hesitant about buying it because of the price, but I played it at a friend's house the day before and I liked it, and I also wanted to do 3D this way and couldn't wait :p. It's bad coincidence that your hope for 3D appeared just after the GOG sale ended :(.
