I have also looked for monitor drivers to no avail... are there any or just keep it as plug n play?

OK I think I figured out what is wrong but dunno if I should replace the monitor or not. I have gone into screen resolution>advanced settings>monitor and changed from the 60hertz to the 100/110/120 hertz. and found it does it when it is switched to these settings. I can view the 3D just fine however it still flashes after a few seconds as if powering off/on showing the ASUS logo on the monitor. My question is simply : Is this a monitor issue not able to handle the change in Hertz or not enough juice coming from the Graphics card (Gforce GTX 470) ...... I assume the monitor isn't able to hold it long enough on the 100-120 hertz?

Any advice on this would be grateful as to how the hertz thing works out.

My system is
ASUS Motherboard M4A88TD-M
AMD Athlon(tm) II x3 450 Processor 3.20 GHz
4 GB RAM
Win 7 64b OS
NVidia Geforce GTX470

It's either the Card, the Cable or the Monitor.
It's really hard to say which unless you have someway to test the Monitor in isolation from the machine. i.e. Can you take it to a friends house and try 120Hz desktop?
You've tried multiple cables, so my assumption is that's unlikely.
The fact that both outputs on the card do the same thing, seems to point to the monitor to me.

After trying on my roommates computer I noticed it worked fine. so I decided to take his DVI cable and place it on mine. it appears that somehow we swapped cables actually, and once I placed the cable on my computer, it flashed once 4 seconds in and stayed on for 15 minutes during the test on the set up wizard's slideshow. so I hope its fine now as I have started downloading all my games again. Also I had to drop to 100hrtz which isn't bad still for 3d and should be fine now.

Thanks to all who helped me

Matthew
