Has anyone successfully extended the cables for the IR emitter box? I sit about 8 feet away from my TV when playing and during the day I am completely unable to use my 3D vision because the stupid IR emitter setup is not good enough to send signals with even the slightest bit of sun light.
I can block out all my windows, but I still have to sit about 3 feet away from the emitter which is way to close for my 62 inch TV.
I was wondering if anyone has tried extending either the usb cable or the 3D VESA sync cable with any success. I was thinking about getting a 2.5mm extension cable for extending the VESA cable, but wanted to see if anyone had already tried this.

Im using a 15ft usb cable from my emmitter by my dlp to the computer (computer is on desk on other side of the room). Works just fine, although I used the 6ft vesa so no extension there.

I'm currently extending my 3D sync cable with a 2.5mm extension cable I bought off of ebay for $5. No problems at all. I tried using a powered USB extension cable but anytime I enabled 3D vision the computer would freeze and BSOD on me.

Thanks for the answers guys, I didn't want to waste money on cables if they were not going to work. I am going to order a longer mini usb cable and a 2.5mm extension today.

Just a small word of warning with extending the USB receiver, I actually used the larger cable at first (15'?) and was having various problems with the USB receiver dropping out or being detected on a boot or waking up from S3 Sleep. Unplugging it and plugging it back in worked, but there was clearly something going on there. I swapped to the shorter cable (6'?) and since then those problems have not recurred. Possibly a USB signaling limitation and something you might want to keep an eye out for.

You cannot just use extension cables - it's already tricky at 15'... USB has also a "hard coded" limitation of 15' with USB extension cables.
I am using a USB to Cat5e extension (be careful here too - cheap ones do not do the trick - difficult to find a "true" USB 2.0 extender). I extend it by 50' and it works great. I had to go through a few cheaper units before I got to this one ($275) that works.
I got the Ranger 2104 - it's also a 4 port hub - so I can use my USB mouse, USB keyboard, USB headset and 3DVision, and yeap; 50' from the PC.
With cheaper extenders ($39 - $89) they always disconnected, as soon as I type something on the keyboard I would lose 3D, sometimes it just timed out - just because...
For some odd reasons the bandwidth necessary for 3D Vision is quite high - USB 1.1 just won't do.

what if i buy a normal usb to ethernet port and use an ethernet cable at the other end?this might be cheaper.i have 2 questions:
1)is it compulsory for it to have a power supply?
2)can i use a USB 1.1?

I would think that some power is needed for extenders like this to work properly. I don't know if there is one (USB 2.0) that is self-powered.
