Ya! It works >.< thank you so much! :D
I had another DVI plugged and was too lazy to change it and I didn't know it was a different DVI.
Thanks again guys, this is great!

Hi there, I also have this problem.
I basicially ignored the problem, thinking that it was meant to look blocky at 120hz. But then i saw this thread, brought the correct cable (the one with all the pins) swapped it, and the text still looks blocky at 120hz.
Ive restarted, swapped dvi ports on the graphics card, reinstalled the most recent drivers and its still doing it. Im now im running out of ideas on how to fix it.

Why would you swap dvi ports? You need a dual link dvi cable. Maybe it was included with the 120Hz monitor. Dont use a single link dvi cable. Run the monitor at highest resolution - 120Hz.

I swapped the dvi ports thinking that might fix my problem. It didnt fix it, but now i can rule it out and think about what else might be causing it.
Im not currently using a single link cable... its a dual link. Or at least it appears to look like a dual link cable. Ive attached an image below to show you what i mean.
And ive got the monitor at the highest resolution (1900x1080) but it only looks normal at 60hz. Anything more and it starts to look blocky.
The 3D looks fine, although it could probably be a fair bit sharper if everything didnt look blocky.

You could try swapping dvi cables to be sure that the cables are different.
Anything different when you connect the wrong cable?
If that does not work, then:
1. Which monitor?
2. Which OS?
3. Does windows correctly detect the monitor? Latest monitor drivers are installed?
4. latest nvidia drivers are installed?
5. maybe the settings on the monitor control panel are creating the problem.

My money would be on the cable, are you using the cable supplied with the monitor or another Dual DVI cable?
I've seen all sorts of problems with long or poor quality cables, they can work fine at lower resolution or refresh rates then fill the screen with noise at the higher refresh rates.

I tried both cables, the single and the dual DVI, and both seem to have the same problem.
1. Its the Alienware optx AW2310 monitor
2. Windows 7 64bit
Windows finds the monitor perfectly and all the latest drivers are installed. I did check the monitor control panel as well. But after fiddling for a bit, i still was unable to fix it.

Im starting to think that this is still a cable issue as well. I sold my old monitor to a mate, when i got the 3D one. And just gave him the cord that came with the new monitor. So when i found out i needed the new cable, i looked on ebay, brought the "correct" cable and i still have issues.
I will try and swap the ebay cable with the original from my friend and see if that fixes it.

I asked this because the monitor should not work at 1920x1080 - 120Hz with a single link dvi cable. Confirm the resolution and refresh rates with both cables.
When I got my 120Hz monitor, windows7 would only allow me to choose 75Hz max at 1920x1080 with a single link dvi cable.

Why would you swap dvi ports? You need a dual link dvi cable. Maybe it was included with the 120Hz monitor. Dont use a single link dvi cable. Run the monitor at highest resolution - 120Hz.

I've seen all sorts of problems with long or poor quality cables, they can work fine at lower resolution or refresh rates then fill the screen with noise at the higher refresh rates.

You could try swapping dvi cables to be sure that the cables are different.

My money would be on the cable, are you using the cable supplied with the monitor or another Dual DVI cable?

Oh thats weird. I was playing stuff in 3D using the single link dvi cable, so it was working at 120hz, except that the fine text was incredibly difficult to read (like steam chat conversations).
Could be the monitor or something?
