3d Vision and passive tv
Hello! I just bought 3d tv LG 42LM620T.Im totally new in world of 3d and i have few questions. I have gtx 560 ti graphic card. What do i need to do to watch movies and play games in 3d. If i connect my pc by hdmi cable to tv can i watch movies in 3d or i need to enable 3d vision on my pc? Or if i just play 3d movie in SBS mode my tv will do the rest? The same question about games. Im really confused. Could you guide me step by step how to achive 3d on my tv from my desktop? Should i use 3d vision or maybe 3dtv play?

Thank you.

Welcome to 'Nvidia screw your arse big time' party - make you feel special, 'elite' if you want 3D . No matter what you paid for your GPU(or how new is your display), you will not have 3D vision. You need some special monitor '3D vision supported' which I found are pretty much discontinued or not easy to find and expensive - for which manufacturers paid Nvidia the license fee. Samsung and LG that dominates the market of flat panel displays are not cooperating anymore with Nvidia and they used to/ they had one monitor ab. 2 years ago. Currently there are 1 or 2 models from Acer Asus and Benq.
Through HDMI on the TV you can have just 3DTV Play if you have the 3D Vision kit, or you pay 40 bucks for the software(though you have 14 days free trial).
There are some limitations on 3D TV play compared to 3D vision(1080p/24Hz only on 3D BR, games just 720p...) may wanna read here details http://www.nvidia.com/object/3dtv-play-overview.html But be aware that may not work, and you will have to contact Nvidia support...

Hey PufPuf,

In order to use your nVidia graphics card with a 3DTV, you will need to use the nVidia 3DTV Play software and your tv will need to be one listed on the compatible list here: My link

3D Vision on the other hand needs a 120 Hz 3D monitor, a 3D emitter, and 3D active shutter glasses. (some monitors have an integrated emitter, or you need the 3D Vision kit that comes with an emitter and glasses). You can check out nVidia's site to get a list of compatible monitors as well.

Thanks for answears. So if my tv is not on the 3dtv play compatible list, there is no other way to watch 3d movies from my pc on tv and i can dream about playing in 3d? I didnt get my tv yet so i didnt try 3dtv play. I hope it will work fine despite its not listed on compatible list.

No problem! You can always use the 3DTV Play software trial and see if you can get it to work, so you don't spend the 50 dollars on software you can't use.

If it's a HDMI 1.4 HD 3DTV, follow these instructions to get it added http://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/2774

Most TVs should work though, mine isn't on the list either. 3D framepacked is a generic format. After all, the PS3 doesn't have 'supported' list either. Worst case scenario is that your tv doesn't various PC resolutions or has bad scaling, which is more likely to happen on older models.

You can play any SBS, or over/under video clip with windows media player straight to your tv. Fullscreen it, manually turn your tv's 3d mode on to whatever format the video is, and the tv will do the rest. As far as playin games... you need 3dTV play, IZ3d, or DDD driver.
