Hi all.
I just got my first 3d vision 2 kit today and I believe I got it up and running properly. When I do the test it works great. Diablo was recognized immediately and worked. However, those are the only things that worked. Everything I view on the 3dvisionlive website, YouTube 3d, etc doesn't work. I downloaded the nvidia 3d video player but nothing seems 3d like the test or game.
I've tried doing side by side video but that doesn't look 3d either. Just the same as if I wasn't wearing the glasses. The player mashed the two images together but it doesn't look 3d at all.
I've also tried using my optoma gt1080 projector with my computer as the source with no luck.
Does anyone know what I might be doing wrong? Possibly point me towards an idiots guide to 3d? Everything I've found hasn't helped. I'd hate to return it but I was mostly hoping for video playing and projector use with neither working.
Thanks in advance!!!

HDMI 1.4 projectors are supported via 3DTV Play and require a person to use the Display manufacturers glasses. In your case DLP Link glasses or the rf Optoma glasses. You can verify that it is being recognized by the "green" 3DTV Play logo in the setup 3D tab of the Nvidia control panel.
3DTV Play costs $40 but is free if a 3D Vision emitter is connected or if using a Quadro GPU.
When using 3DTV Play the Nvidia emitter does not function and only acts as a license key.
If your projector supports 1280x720@120Hz frame sequential (which I'm pretty sure it does), you could try using an EDID override from a 3D Vision supported projector.

Ok so I needed to buy 3dtv play and the 3d vision kit? Ito make sure I understand right, I use the nvidia glasses when using my computer screen but if I change the signal to the projector, I need to use the glasses from the projector manufacturer? Can I just plug the 3d vision emitter into my projector? Still use optoma glasses in this case?
My apologies for the dumb questions. I got a little overwhelmed!
Thank you for your quick response.

No, don't buy 3DTV Play ... it's free if you have a 3D Vision Kit/Emitter plugged into the PC.
Use the 3D Vision glasses with the Monitor and use the Optoma glasses with the Projector, the emitter stays plugged into the PC.
It sounds like you might be running the latest driver 347.09, in which nVidia has somehow managed to break more than they ever have before, including their own website and applications. It wouldn't surprise me if every windowed 3D and 3D vision direct application is broken, but I haven't tested extensively.
Downgrade to 344.75 and see if you have better luck. Some people have also suggested 344.65 as a better driver, but 344.75 has been pretty solid for me so far.

In case the pyramid-shaped emitter came with your 3D Vision 2 kit, just connect it to your PC and download an Acer H5360 .inf-file, to fool Windows into thinking your Optoma projector is 3D Vision ready. That way you can keep using your 3D Vision glasses.
Make sure you point Windows to the Acer .inf-file via:
- Windows control panel
- hardware manager
- monitors
- driver update
Select the Acer-profile in the Nvidia control panel and a 3D Vision ready logo should show up.
Finally, set your projector to "frame-sequential 3D" and power up the 3D Vision glasses.
This EDID override works just fine with a Benq w1070 projector and your Optoma should pull it off too.
Side-by-side is not compatible with your 3D Vision kit. You should use the glasses that came with your projector for side-by-side content.

When you say side by side content isn't compatible with 3d vision kit and to use the projector glasses, do you mean side by side won't work on my computer monitor either or just that content on the projector?

Side-by-side and under-over 3D will work on your projector.
All you have to do is use the Optoma glasses for that sort of content, rather than the 3D Vision glasses.
As for the monitor, you didn't mention which one you have :P
I've never even attempted to watch side-by-side stuff on my Asus VG278 monitor. Only used it for 3D Vision and PS3 3D games.

Sorry. I have the vg238qe. I don't have glasses for the projector so that's why I'm trying to get the side by side on the pc. I wrongly assumed I could use the same glasses for the projector and the monitor.

Officially the glasses will not work with the projector.
Learn2read, you've already been told the unofficial way to make them work with the projector.
For your Asus monitor the 3D Vision kit will only work with if it's connected via a Dual Link DVI connection.
EDIT: you'll also want to update Nvidia's player.
