Hello everyone! I took the plunge to 3D Vision Gaming. Had to buy lots of hardware but I hope It´s worth it...I bought the new Benq W700 720p Projector, 88´´ Screen, 3D Vision kit, and ordered just now 2 GTX570 graphic cards to work on SLI mode. But the projector resolution is only 1024x720 (HD:720p), something I dont play at for years...Do you think 2 GTX570 are overkill at this resolution? Because I read somewhere that sli only is needed at high resolutions... does anyone have this kind of setup that can exchange some thoughs with me?

No 2 570's sli at 720p in 3d is not overkill, just a very very smooth gaming experience /thumbup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> . For 2d maybe, but 3d you want all the power you can afford.

Hmm honestly I might just have low standards but with the 720p projector I have (the Acer one) my old Gforce 9800 seems to play most modern games like Mass Effect 2 or Just Cause 2 without any noticeable frame rate drops in 3d. That said, openworld games like Fallout and Oblivion would benefit from a better card/s, especially if you want to add any mods to them! Even Morrowind can make my system chug in 3d after modding. My own falt for wanting to add about 100mods to the original game though :P
I'm a poor judge of things like framerate though. After about 25-30fps has been reached I can't see a difference in smoothness. So 30fps and 50fps look the same to me while some of my other PC gamer friends say the difference would make them want to tear their eyes out lol :D

How is the picture at 720p? I'm about to order an Acer H5360 for 3D Vision, and want to get an idea of what to expect. I've been gaming on a Sony GDM-FW900 24" widescreen CRT monitor for several years at resolutions of 1920x1200 and an especially sharp 2304x1440, and have rarely needed to use anti-aliasing.
Does a large-sized 720p screen look decent? Does a high amount of anti-aliasing help smooth out any noticeable jaggies, especially in 2D? Maybe I'd finally have a reason to use 16x and 32x CSAA!
At this point, I'd rather have a huge imperfect screen than a small sharp one anyway.

Well, I have mine at about 55-60 inches at the moment and I sit right up to it for first person games and occasionally use it as a monitor; I haven't had any problems yet (I use it as a rear projector so I can get reeeeaaally close lol).
I can definitely see the pixels if I specifically look out for them, but once I start playing a game I can't really notice. The actual pixels themselves are not as sharp as they would be on a monitor which is understandable as the light is projected over such a distance, but the strange thing is (personal opinion) that it makes the games look better to me because it smooths the image out, almost like a natural type of AA. I normally increase it to x4 just to really smooth it out though.
The best thing I can say is that playing a game at the projector's native resolution looks far better than I ever though it would from the distance I sit (less than a meter away), and I'm very happy with my purchase.

Nice, thanks for the reply! That's almost the same size and distance that I'll be using. Can't wait! *giddy*

That's weird that projector is not on the support list http://www.nvidia.com/object/3d-vision-system-requirements.html you shouldn't have any problems though, I see on the product page it listed as 3D Vision ready http://www.benq.us/product/projector/w700 BTW you must have meant 1280x720 or 1024x768, there is no such thing as 1024x720 I gamed for a few weeks on a projector using a single 480GTX, before I returned the PJ due to hardware failure. Most games ran smooth, but others taxed my card. You will indeed be much happier with a SLI configuration for 3D gaming.

The 720P DLP projector gaming experience is very good indeed, there is a noticeable downgrade in resolution but it's not horrible and is far outweighed by the immersion of a large screen. As far as "HUGE" that's not as easily obtained via the lower priced entry models, due to such things as cheaper lenses and cheaper processers/scalers as well as limited lumens. It's fairly easy to get great 90/100 screens, at 110/120 more things begin to factor in. One thing with going big as well with DLP projectors is the screen door effect becomes more noticeable http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?p=20669512#post20669512

Sorry, I meant 1280x720, of course. The Benq W700 projector works with 3D Vision, I am sure because on the last nvidia driver update, in the release notes, they said this one and the Benq W710st (short throw version) were included in the 3D Vision Ready hardware. I have seen some 720p movies in 2D (still waiting for the graphic cards to arrive) and it looks great, I was undecided if I should buy this one, without any reviews to backup up me decision, or the discontinued Acer H5360.
So what you are saying his that you used to play in 3D Vision Mode with a 720p projector with your gtx 480 and in some games you could notice that the 60fps cap per eye (120fps total) was not reached. What games were those? Did you crancked the anti alising to smooth things up? a 570 is very similar to your 480 in terms of performance, its a good comparison for my case...

Will do, of course. I´m looking foward to it. Still waiting for the 2 graphic cards I ordered, seems dificult to buy cheap gtx570´s here in Portugal, at the moment. :(
This is what I ordered:
- Benq W700 W720p Projector
- 88´´ White Matix 1.1 gain Screen
- 2 x Gtx570 to work in Sli mode
- Nvidia 3D Vision Kit with 2 glasses
- 10m Optical Toslink to connect to my 5.1 home cinema (will have to use daniel_k X-Fi modded drivers for the 5.1 to pass trought the optical out of my X-Fi Xtremegamer)
- 10m HDMI Cable
- 5m active USB Cable
- Logitech Mx3200 wireless keyboard and mouse (have to see if the latency is acceptable, otherwise will have to buy another usb cable to use my normal keyboard and mouse)
- Creative Sigma USB Headphones
This is what I already have:
i5 750 CPU OC´ded to 4Ghz
4Gb ddr3 1600mhz Cl7 ram
Asus P7P55D Pro motherboard
2 Ati 5850 in Crossfire (Will have to sell them, of course)
SSD 60gb Ocz vertex
2 250gb HD in Raid 0
X-Fi Xtremegamer
Corsair 750w PSU
Coolermaster Storm Scout case
21´´ Samsung 1100MB CRT
I believe that, after many years dreaming, I will finally have a High-End PC! :)

I have an h5360 and single gtx 570. It handles high end games like witcher in 720p almosted maxed out at 40fps or greater. 720p is far easier on the graphics card than 1080p. You don't *need* the second card, but it will help any game run maxed.

Thanks for your replies. Its good to know I will be able to play everything maxed out...i was afraid that the sli would be useless at that low resolution, that the second card would only be usefull at 1080p, for instance.
Do any of you guys know where we can find benchmarks of 3D vision setups? The only one I could find was at "3D Vision Blog", a great place to learn and get the news about stereoscopic 3D, by the way.

- 88´´ White Matix 1.1 gain Screen
- 2 x Gtx570 to work in Sli mode
- Nvidia 3D Vision Kit with 2 glasses
- 10m Optical Toslink to connect to my 5.1 home cinema (will have to use daniel_k X-Fi modded drivers for the 5.1 to pass trought the optical out of my X-Fi Xtremegamer)
- 10m HDMI Cable
- 5m active USB Cable
- Logitech Mx3200 wireless keyboard and mouse (have to see if the latency is acceptable, otherwise will have to buy another usb cable to use my normal keyboard and mouse)
- Creative Sigma USB Headphones
This is what I already have:
i5 750 CPU OC´ded to 4Ghz
4Gb ddr3 1600mhz Cl7 ram
Asus P7P55D Pro motherboard

Do any of you guys know where we can find benchmarks of 3D vision setups? The only one I could find was at "3D Vision Blog", a great place to learn and get the news about stereoscopic 3D, by the way.
