Shortcuts worked fine, prior to this I never really had any negative side effect from running steam without properly installing it
Ah thank you for this information. I will add the old start method as another alternative to start Steam games (as it was before version 1.18) in case installed Steam Client is not found.
on an unrelated note I'm not sure if this is a known bug however attempting to install portal 2 3d fix will make 3d fix manager crash, the only way to make it work is by placing all files inside the game's folder manually.
This bug was not known to me. Thx for reporting! Portal 2 fix seems to be a special case where the shaderoverride folder is not in a subfolder of where d3d9.dll is. Without explaining too much - this finally causes the crash. Another thing to fix for version 1.21 :)

Version 1.21 is out!

Sorry, this time no change notes are shown when 3D Fix Manager pops up the notification window - this is a little bug I fixed for version 1.21 now. However change notes can be read after updating in "About"-tab.

Change Notes Version 1.21:

 • New: In Edit Profile tab the user can set to start the game with admin rights

 • New: "Search ID" button in Edit Profile tab for quickly finding out the Steam App ID for a game

 • New: "Search in DB" - Button in Edit Profile tab for quicky finding out the game exe name and relative install path for fixes

 • New: game ini / cfg file can be still modified if a folder in the file path is variable for each PC. This feature is used for the games Metro 2033 Redux / Last Light (Redux). The unknown folder must be named "_placeholder_" in the file path.

 • New: When something goes wrong when starting the application an error window is displayed telling the user where to find the error log file

 • Changed: Uninstall of OpenGL Fixes does not show a command prompt window any more

 • Changed: Added a second method (in the form of steam://rungameid/) for starting Steam games if path to Steam Client was not found

 • Changed: Steam Client is searched in a few default places if not automatically found in Windows registry

 • Bugfix: Application crashed when Steam client was not found

 • Bugfix: Application crashed when installing Portal 2 fix

 • Bugfix: Change Notes for program updates were not shown when version jumped from 1.2 to 1.21 (same would happen for 1.3 to 1.31)

 • Bugfix: Manually created ini changes for openGL fixes were not restored when reinstalling a fix

 • Bugfix: Minor GUI fix in Settings tab

Fix profiles are nearly complete now. Only 5 games left without game launcher exe - I found most data in steamDB :).

In future I will add more profiles where there is no 3D fix yet. So you can start more games with 3D Fix Manager - the aim is to have one plattform to launch all games.

Not sure what happened here but I think I found the reason for the crash. Again it is a string which was not initialized :(. 10 profiles or so had the value for wrapper version not set in the ini file and Mordheim seems to be one of them. Now I have made sure that the string is at least empty instead of null when nothing else was set (that should fix the crash). I'll release a small fix still today. Please let me know if this fixes the issue.

I also LOVE the clean and clear website you made there! But, there is a problem with this link or HelixMod Blog page: http://helixmod.blogspot.co.uk/2017/02/3d-fix-manager.html I really don't know what is going on there, but if you can correct it and if that can be added as A STICK on the Menu Bar, IT WOULD BE AWESOME!!! (next to GUIDES, WISHLIST, etc) - Bo3b or eqzitara, can you help with this please?

On a more different note:) Is it possible to add my own images/ Icons to the fixes inside the manager?:) I noticed the DS3 image is very very very low resolution for example:( NEVERMIND! ;) Found it! (If you edit the profile.) Awesome job again!

I think I found a bug ^_^ In a fix: - Go to Hotkeys - Select the "Default Values of Constants" - If I try to set a float number like "-0.2" it doesn't work:( It will "convert it" to an integer of "-2". I am not sure if you are aware of this, but I wanted to report it;) If I look in the d3dx.ini file all the constants are actually integers instead of floats:-s

Hi helifax thank you for your comment - you are welcome :). Actually I have 600 very nice icons - one for each fix profile but I don't know if I may publish them. Most of them are from deviant art and I think they are under copyright :-/. So 3D Fix Manager only looks for icons which are already on the user's HDD. But if you like I'll upload the icons and send you a download link via PM. I accidentally clicked on the "draft"-button in google blogger today instead of "preview" - then I had to publish the whole thing again and as a result the link changed :(. Yes, would be cool if the tool would be directly in the menu bar - easiest way to find it. I'll send Bo3b a PM.

When typing in the number in 3D Fix Manager C# parses it and tries to convert it into a float. When your language is set to german, C# expects that the number was typed in with a comma. However when it is set to en / us for example it expects that it is typed in with a dot. If not it simply cuts off the number and -0,2 turns to -2. So when parsing a number I have to specify the culture first... pretty crazy O.o. Even if you type it in with a dot 3D Fix Manager will replace the dot with a comma because I set this so. (I think that was the reason I did this because my language only accepted commas by default but I did not know that this was due to the language xD) I would have never noticed this since my Windows language is set to german and parsing float numbers worked for me therefore xD. I'll fix this. Thank you for reporting this helifax :)
