Current state of 3DV vs. new games and new fix methods. Ban risk?
Hi, I've been out of touch with 3D for a few recent weeks. How it is with new games? A friend asks if he should upgrade the monitor to non-3D one. I say it's a bad idea. He says the fixes are getting more complicated to use and the new Denuvo DRM infested games could be in risk of getting banned and since games aren't cheap, he doesn't want to take the risk. On the other hand, I've seen you guys trying out new approach. MGS V and Mad Max were supposed to be unfixable, and yet, if I'm not mistaken, you did it (grats and thank you!). Can I tell my friend there's no risk? He has 980Ti and therefore he prefers the new games over the older ones ;)

I don't think we can say with any assurance there is no ban risk. No one has ever been banned so far, but that could always change depending upon how stupid a publisher wants to be. And the stupid runs deep with these guys, so it's hard to say. No Denuvo bans so far. For your buddy- if he can afford a 980ti, he can afford to buy the game again in the very, very small chance he gets to be the first to be banned. :-> And a 2D monitor is not an 'upgrade', that's defeat. You can't let these dumb ass corporations rule your life, do what you want. Fight back against the machine. Otherwise, geez, play on console and accept the table scraps they throw you. Just to clarify- we only have a fix for Mad Max, MGSV locks out 3Dmigoto, and Flugan has a wrapper that is working, but hasn't finished it yet.

Thank you. Also, let me know if you ever decide to run for President or something, I'll vote for you. :)

As a said friend, I was trying out Mad Max with 3D Vision 2 today (thank you good man behind the fix), and to be honest, I have my doubts with upgrading current XL2420z to the new PG279Q without 3D support - honestly, I have no idea why they dropped support for 3D Vision in this otherwise great monitor, is this so hard to make it works or what? Is that the money play or obsolete technology?

I was over looking in the Vireio Perception forum, just to check on it's current status and came across a post stating that he received a global ban from Punkbuster. Admittedly, he said he was using a cheat engine, but stated that he was using the cheat engine as a debugger for creating VRBoost profiles. He's not sure exactly what happened, he was playing BF4 and thinks that he must have left it running in the background after using it on a different game earlier. http://www.mtbs3d.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?f=150&t=18906 Anyhow, Neil contacted Even Balance. Their reply was Quote: PunkBuster does have a hard drive scanning facility that is optional for server administrator use in looking for files on the player's hard drive. These scans are limited to the folders used by the game itself. So if you place cheat engine files in a Battlefield 3 folder or subfolder for example, then yes some BF3 servers you join will find those files and possibly cause the admin of that server to ban you (and even maybe share the ban info with other admins and/or admin groups). As for us and our global detections/bans, our cheat violations only come from memory signatures, not from anything sitting on the hard drive not loaded into memory while playing. Also as an FYI...Punkbuster is set to run at startup by default. You will not find it in the StartUp folder. To disable it 1.Open your start menu 2.Type in: services.msc 3.Press enter 4.Click yes in the UAC dialog. 5.Locate the service and double click it 6.Press Stop to stop the service 7.Change the Startup Type to manual to prevent it from booting again, or to disabled so that nothing can even start it manually. Do note that if you "disable" punkbuster, you won't be able to play multiplayer games that rely on punkbuster being active. Note that you can use the net start and net stop command to start and stop services as long as their startup type is not set to disabled. FYI:...It's a good idea to disable all non essential processes that are using resources in the background and are automatically enabled at StartUp. things like Arcsoft, Cyberlink, XboxStat, Punkbuster, BitRaider (if you had SWToR), etc.., etc.. Use both msconfig.exe and services.msc
