So... except for difference in size&design, there are actually no other main differences between v1 and v2 of glasses?
What I'm aiming here is this: 'Lightboost' technology 'requires' new glasses and ofc - monitor that supports it.
Monitor part is understandable, as it is main difference in 'Lightboost' technology.
But, we come to glasses part now.
Why cannot v1 glasses work with 'Lightboost'?
v2 are backward compatible, but v1 cannot work with lightboost?
Main difference is shutters are much longer open. Why couldn't this be done with v1 glasses - except to force people to buy another pair of v2 glasses??
I see no technological reason for v1 not to work with lightboost tech too, except for greediness of Nvidia....
Or prove me wrong.

Probably just comes down to differences in firmware in the glasses. With 3D Vision V1 the only thing the glasses needed to do was switch on/off like a lightswitch, or carry out essentially binary commands 120x per second as fast as possible but with the timing of the lenses to be closed more than open. With V2 and Lightboost, the glasses are more open than closed and only shuttering closed when the LEDs in the monitor are shuttered ON for the other eye. In order to maintain backwards compatibility with the older 3D Vision monitors, the V2 glasses probably need to be able to run in both timing modes. The V1 glasses most likely can't be retrofitted however for Lightboost because they simply did not plan or foresee the need for the glasses to support multiple shuttering modes.
I've been pretty happy with my glasses for the nearly 2 years I've owned them and it seems like Nvidia really listened to our feedback on these forums to improve the new 3DV2 glasses. It also seems like Nvidia tried maintaining as much cross-compatibility with old/new 3D Vision products as possible. Honestly, there's a lot more to be upset about with new products introducing obsolence in the tech industry than these new glasses, imo.

Wow that's great news and much better news than I expected. So all that matters is an LCD that supports LightBoost and the emitter/glasses adjust accordingly. This point needs to be emphasized and made more clear in the various reviews/tech write-ups that have circulated in the last few days. I think most people got the impression you needed both LightBoost monitors + 3DV2 glasses for LightBoost to work.
