Thanks for the screenshots! /wave.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> But I can't figure out why you guys like that "toyification" effect so much. I think it looks ugly and fake. But to each his own I guess...

The proplem with toyification in DA:O is the 2D mouse. I found 100% depth to be tricky to play because of the mouse doubling and finding item hotspots. If anyone gives a monkey, to get as much depth as possible in stereo (before the mouse doubled beyond being efficient to use) I set convergence so popout extended out to about 1/3 of screen width and added about 25% depth. That kept the mouse focused within the clickable game world. If you, or anyone else try it and say 'What cho talkin about Willis!?' (RIP Gary Coleman :() I'll add it. Hope that's ok.

Defo each to their own. Is it the characters/avatars that did your head in? I too found the effect disconcerting at first. When I first tried GTA4 in 3D I thought 3D had broken my game! It had turned all the cars into scalectrixs cars and the people in to plastocine models! (I didnt know about convergence then, only the depth wheel and it seems GTA4 toyificates once depth is set to 100%.) Once I had got over the disapointing fact S3D had made the game world look blatenly fake, I started to enjoy the scenery and how solid it felt. Things looked fake but more lifelike at the same time! I then found out about convergence and experimented with it using Tomb Raider, got toyification, quickly got rid of it because it looked fake but then missed the fake/lifelike look. Played a couple of levels and as I was climbing a wall I noticed how detailed the plants looked as they fluttering in the wind. I experimented by lowering convergence, lost toyificationa and the gameworld lost its detail. Why? No idea - same graphics right? Once I realised I could get this effect in other games, like BryanK1977 mentioned earlier, I really missed the effect in those games I couldn't get it. Mate all I can say is, if you have one of those games mentioned in the above list, give it a go for 5 - 10 minutes. If you still dont like it, no biggie right? At the very least we can say it is a setting unique to S3D gamers! :)

You don't need 100% depth to get the effect necessarily.

One game that, despite what the nVidia rating is, can looking AMAZING in 3D is Trine.

I play it with the depth at about 15% or so (max, no more) and go berserk with the convergence. The result is that you end up playing the game with half of it sticking out of the screen, and it works wonderful. Any more depth and the stuff that is rendered via cheating (the glows and post processes in that game) starts to look really out of whack - but added a ton of convergence works just fine, and actually works well for the type of game it is. Considering it's "not recommended", it looks every bit as good as any "excellent" game I've come across when it's set up this way.

Avatar! Not the best game but step into a vehicle and you'll just sit and look at the screen amazed because it looks just like a toy :)

BadComp. 2 is fantastic in 3D and I'm playing it again in stead of Avatar, even if I don't know if BadCom 2 toyficates well :)

Interesting how people keep talking about 100% although it doesn't mean anything definite. The real amount (width) of separation changes depending on what MonitorSize setting the driver is using, and what the actual physical size of the monitor, tv, projected image, or whatever type of screen you have is.

Thanks for the names and comments.

Xerion404 makes a good point. Pressumably projector users, depending on how far they sit from the screen might find the divergence greater than eyes separation. I woudl be really grateful, if you are one of those lucky enough to use a projector to share your toyification experiences!

@ Luke997
I played the demo and it defo toyificates but didnt you find the popout of the marine/navi-wassname became quite uncomfortable at 100% depth? Added though.

@ Vaelo
I tried your settings with the demo and the game does popout well but it doesn't really toyificate. Also too many problems remain to justify putting it on the list - I have had my bottom burnt too many times and would like to keep this list full of games with as few griefs as possible. I hope that is OK.

@ Olonese
Set depth to 100% and increase the convergence and let us know if we can add BC2!

Thanks!

Hey no worries :)

It's just such a beautiful (and addictive) game I had to mention it!

I didn't play it on 100% due to my eyes not being totally used to 3D when I tested it out. I stopped playing it now due to the game sucking so I can't test it again without reinstalling it ;)

You don't need 100% depth to get the toyification though. Especially the vehicles are really cool :)

I think convergence is borked in BFBC2, having said that, I've only tested convergence on that game and the Heaven benchmark recently [since I installed 256 drivers] and neither worked so it could be a local [to me] problem. BFBC2 is still very playable in N3D though, just don't expect to be as accurate as in 2D [at least if you're like me].

On a side note, since installing the 256 drivers apart from the convergence issue which requires more testing, I've seen my FPS go up across the board [including 2D], overall smoothness vastly increased, and a very noticeable drop in flickering and ghosting.

First post, yay!

Although this might seem like a given, the LEGO PC games have a pretty amazing toyification effect. In particular, I tested out the Lego Star Wars PC Demo. There's nothing quite like little Lego figurines walking around inside your monitor. :D

I highly recommend that you download the demo and try it for yourself. If you ever played with Legos as a kid (or still do for that matter), you wont be disappointed! /no.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

I can't comment on other Lego games, but I assume the same goes for them as well. As for actual gameplay, I don't really care for it, I just wanted something to show to my friends.

I noticed this effect big time with Max Payne 2 when I first got my hardware. I would imagine original Max Payne has it as well.

Added Left 4 Dead and Left 4 Dead 2

However, I prefer to play this normally because toyified tanks and zombies charging at you arent half as awesome as 'life-sized' ones.

All of L4D is superb in S3D where only 3 of the 5 levels in L4D2 are superb. Valve did something to the water in L4D2 which causes horrid object doubling when close to it. One level is frankly horrid, another is OK and there is a 5 minute section in another which is grim furtunately the rest of the level is quality.

I bought Left4Dead a long time ago but I never play it since I have no friends and would just get raped online. I'm old school...I'd rather myself and everyone playing enjoy the game rather than focusing on winning or the k/d ratio. I wanted to buy the sequel during the sale, but I just couldn't make myself do it. I should fire it up and play some in 3D. I'm sure I'd enjoy it.

That was completely off topic...so...toyification is kewl.
