3D newbie needs lots of help
I am brand new to 3D technology so forgive me if I am asking stupid questions. I just received my new Dell Precision M6700 that came with Nvidia 3D Vision Pro. I got the glasses correctly paired with the integrated RF hub and ran the Nvidia 3D video (the one with the Nvidia logo and letters all spinning around and moving forward and back) and it looked great in 3D. It also came with a few 3D screenshots from various video games and those all showed up in excellent 3D as well. But nothing else I have tried works in 3D. None of the content on 3Dvisionlive.com shows up in 3D and I tried viewing a 3D (it was SHBS) video in the Nvidia Video Player and it just looked blurry. I assume there are juse some setting that I have wrong, but I am completely clueless where to do from here. I don't even think I am asking a specific enough question to get specific answers, but any help in pointing me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.

I have only used the normal consumer IR 3D Vision but in this situation we should try to see if anything is working as a start. Download stereoscopic version of Medusa demo at: http://www.nvidia.com/object/3d-drivers-downloads.html Check if 3D works there. Another thing to test is the picture Viewer The test images can be found at C:\Users\Public\Pictures\NVIDIA Corporation\3D Vision Experience\3D Vision preview pack 1 Toggle between windowed mode and fullscreen with ctrl+v. After these initial tests we should know more about the problem.

Thanks to everybody using my assembler it warms my heart.
To have a critical piece of code that everyone can enjoy!
What more can you ask for?

What are your intentions? Gaming? Watching 3D Blu-ray discs? Watching stereographic video from files stored on the hard drive? Viewing stereographic pictures? Stereographic modeling software?

First of all, I was already seeing the content in the 3D Vision preview pack properly. That was what I referring to in my OP when I talked about the "3D screenshots from various video games" that were working in 3D just fine. Now since my OP I have discovered that the photo content on 3dvisionlive.com now works for me if I use Chrome. For some as yet determined reason, it was not working and is still not working if using IE9. But so be it, it works with Chrome now. I also finally successfully got the 3D movie I had to work in the Nvidia 3D player. That required understanding that the format of the movie clip I had was HSBS and configuring the player properly. So I have made some progress, but I am still having other problems. The most immediate one I am trying to fix is that on 3dvisionlive, none of the 3D Youtube feeds work properly. They all show up sort of blurry and with odd reddish artifacts near the lines of some objects in the video. Now first of all these 3D youtube videos wouldn't even play at all in IE9 or Chrome. I finally got them to play in Firefox but with the above mentioned problems. I have not yet installed any games but I thought I would like to solve this problem with 3D youtube videos first. I am so ignorant about this 3D technology that I don't even know where to start troubleshooting. In fact, I don't even understand why the other content suddenly started working when I switched to Chrome so I am really not learning anything useful as I go. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Oh, and to directly D-Man11's questions, my ultimate goal is to do all the things in your list except modeling software.

If you have no intentions of 3D modeling or anything else that is exclusive to Nvidias "Pro", you should return the laptop and get a consumer version. Nvidia charges $700 for their RF glasses and $100-$150 for their consumer IR glasses, depending on where they are puchased. Quadro GPUs are expensive and are not very good for gaming. So I'd suggest taking that money and buying a kick ass desktop and monitor and/or projector combo. The 3D experience goes up with screen size. Or kick ass laptop with a GTX card,if you must have a laptop. Unless of couse, your work paid for the M6700.
