That's a good price for the game.

Personly one play through was enough for me but it was worth playing especialy now that it is 75% off.

With the spec's in your system which exceed the one's on which i played it you should have a good experience with it.

Its worth it for $5, but I found the game to be very overrated, extremely linear, and bereft of any gameplay depth. Absolutely no replay value at all for me, I finished it once and never loaded it up again on Steam. The 3D Vision implementation is good, but given how the game is like running around at night in the pitch black....its just not as impactful as some of the other games mentioned on these forums. Performance is also pretty poor given its mostly a corridor shooter and again, pitch black.

Personally if you are a fan of 3D Vision I'd go ahead and get the Hit titles pack for $50. Mainly for DoW2, Darksiders, and Titan Quest. Not sure how Homefront is in 3D Vision, but I know the Red Faction games have problems.

3D doesnt seem to work in DX11 mode. It looks as though it should, 3D mode activates and there are even artifacts but only one image!

When the game first loaded it said I needed to install DX11 - I thought it was installed!

It works in DX10 fine

Anyone else having this issue?

Follow the Nvidia [green] onscreen instructions and disable the Advanced Depth of Field under the DX11 options and you'll have your 3D back. Don't go above "AAA" for your anti-aliasing or you'll start to have other issues like cross-hair depth.

There may still be a few known issues introduced after 260 drivers having to do with artifacts and other anomolies. The 260s should work if you have problems.

Wow, i played it through 3 times, the 3rd time after getting 3D, i found it amazing every single time. Even played drunk for a couple hours, it was one of the most fascinating gaming experiences ive had. Pitch Black its def not a description i'd use and sounds kinda like something was wrong. On my Sony i turned up the "picture" setting, which raised the brightness value of the colors, but retained the black levels. I'll also up the regular brightness just a tiny bit to account for the glasses. The game is supposedly the first to use "global illumination", a feature previously only found in high end graphics development software. I simultaneously understand and dont understand peoples dislike of linear shooters. Its basically like a movie, you follow the path the character took. I focus on a sense of "being there" in a real experience and always try to do what I would do in real life. Odd, but to each his own.

Again, the 3D Vision effects and visuals aren't my issues with the game, they're fine. Technically the graphics are outstanding but much of this is lost imo due to the art direction and dark atmosphere used throughout the game. Like I said though, my main gripes about the game is the extreme lack of depth with regard to gameplay. Its a rail shooter plain and simple, but it lacks even the modest character development, progression, or sense of rewarding gameplay you'd expect to find in this genre.

There's what? 3-4 guns in the entire game? A few gimmicky weapons you never use; they could've done so much more with the various gadgets but they didn't. 2 suits of armor? A standard combat issue and a stealth suit that doesn't do anything to improve one of the worst elements of the game (stealth). The first half of the game is spent crawling around in the dark where enemies can miraculously see you without issue, the second half is spent running around blindly as fast as possible for fear of running out of oxygen in your gas mask. The entire time you're micro-managing ammo with your lack of weapon choices and overall the gunplay is mediocre at best. The story is OK, but like many other titles developed in that region, the thick Russian accents are distracting to a fault.

But yes, to each his own, like I said its worth the $5 on Steam and a single playthrough in 3D Vision, but not much more than that imo. Personally I don't even think Metro 2033 is the best 3D Vision game in that THQ Hits pack.

I've played it through twice, returning for a visit every now and then. It's a great game. Every time I find the rat creatures terrifying, especially their mannerisms, like how they meercat on their hind legs... gives me the creeps... and thats good :)
