The new Tomb Raider was a surprise hit and did very well in sales. I believe the great 3D implementation was part of why sales were great. Also it was a kick ass game :)
Yes, it did sell very well. But that didn't stop Square Enix from being extremely disappointed by its sales. Tech-wise, they really pulled out all the stops with Tomb Raider (and also Hitman: Absolution before it), with great 3D, tressFX, proper DX11 utilisation, high-res textures, etc. But because of their idiotically unrealistic expectations of sales, it was seen as a failure. Sadly, I wouldn't be surprised if Square Enix are much more conservative with their next few games, and things like 3D support and cutting-edge graphics get cut.

Baah let them be AMD bedfellows in this one, it's just their misstake as I can say it without being shame, I will just download this crap for free to test it out so not a cent from my pocket they will get!
its not that simple I'm afraid, as most if not all incoming EA games will use frostbite 3 and if its not fixed with bf4 it wont be with masseffect4/battlefront/c&c/mirrorsedge/etc. ;/
Yeah it seems like we are in for a rough time so this does not bold well. Well if I cant play in 3d I will play all games on my telly, atlest I will get a better/larger picture then on my Asus VG278h as in 2d the screen just sucks compared to my 50 plasma, the colours and contrast is crap on the Asus but in 3d mode it really shines with vibrant colours and so..Well it's made for 3d so :)
I found that using the Landscapes colour mode on the VG278H instead of the Gaming colour mode made the picture look amazing. The Gaming setting made everything look washed out.
Have tested all settings I can think of but all look pretty crappy in 2d I think and a big yes, the gaming mode is the worst of them all, totaly unplayable as it looks ugly as hell :/

gaming mode is for competivive gamers where they need to see as much as they can and for them dark areas doesnt mean realistic looking game but rather a point I can be killed from I dont see, therefore the black levels are cranked down. Never use gaming mode if you're up for realistic colour scheme. Some tvs have THX and it really do look great, while gaming is just turned up contrast/saturation (unforutnatley in some cases it also lowers panel's response time so it might feel laggy without it).
True I know that was just saying and I use the standard setting with brighness at only 30 I belive as else it will be to washed out. But in the end this TN panel can never compete with my Plasma Tv..you know it's a world of difference right ? But in 3d mode it really shine but 2d mode = garbage and it doesent matter how well you have calibrate it.
