GTX570 > GTX770 ?
  1 / 2
Right now I am sitting on a old GTX570 and have been waiting like forever to the Maxwell e.x 8xxx serie but as it seems to be so far away I thinking about pulling the trigger on a GTX770 as it's cheap and seems pretty powefull. So do you guys think it will be worth the upgrade ? And yes im a 3d gamer whitch means I got to go 780ti or so if I want really good performance but it will cost me to much so I was just thinking for something to hold me over, and I can use the gtx770 as a physx card later on :) So what you say folks, good or stupid idea ? Btw, I know my gtx570 is total arhaic old and is a disgrace to mention when playing in 3d but im sorry, it's all I got right now guys :/

I'm running 580SLI which performs mostly twice as fast as a single 580 when playing in 3D. A 770 performs about as a 590 in 2D 3Dmark. In 3D the internal SLI 590 would win significantly. The best option might be dual 770 but that appears to be outside your budget.

Thanks to everybody using my assembler it warms my heart.
To have a critical piece of code that everyone can enjoy!
What more can you ask for?

Personal opinion. Don't buy a 770, buy a 680 a cheaper and very similiar performance. Especially since your not planning on sitting on it for a long time. Id personally buy one used. But keep in mind... Your going to need a massive power supply. Like lets say you get a 780ti and then you want another one for sli thats like 500watts + a 680[I have no idea, probably 200]. 700watts in gpu in sli + physx or single card + physx = 450 780ti's are top of the line... expensive. 800 series will be the new expensive when it comes out. If your not extremely wealthy buying top of the line is way too costly compared to "second in line". I'd wait till the 800's come out [like 3 months after] when price settles on older cards and then consider the 780ti's then. ------------------------------- I might be wrong but you don't seem to be interested in SLI at all. Not sure why since the performance gained by sli is massive especially in 3D vision. Might want to consider a two gpu card if so. Two gpu's / sli easily are most $ efficient then single card especially for 3d vision.

Nope no going SLI for me, as I just want one to tide me over to the 8xxx series comes out and use the 770 as an physx card later on. I was willing to waiting for the 8xxx serie but now it seems to come next year first and try to play on this gtx570 is a pain guys LOL. So thats why I was thinking about the 770. Alright eqzitara, thanks a lot for the suggestion about the 680, have to keep that in mind :) And yeah I have a really good PSU, Corsair 1000W modular so that will serve my well I hope! I also always goes for the next best as the top of the line allways seem way to expensive and you often can O/C the card below that to come close, so thats the smartest thing to do :)

Is there a particular reason you don't want to go SLI? I upgraded from a single 580 to SLI 670's which get you within 10% of 690 power for a significantly lower price...

TBH, I'd consider a two gpu card. Single gpu cards just don't last long before enough imo. Since you are GPU bound with that 570 in 3D, you can literally double your performance overnight for $120 by buying a second 570.

For upgrade , get GTX 780 at least , that will double the 3D performance for sure . If you got GTX 770 , in some games might see a boost of up to 50% , which is unacceptable for $340 . http://gpuboss.com/gpus/GeForce-GTX-780-vs-GeForce-GTX-570 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121779

I went from a 580 1.5gb to a 770 4gb (since I'm not planning on going SLI), as an example in Assetto Corsa I went from being unable to race with other cars on track at medium graphics to being able to race with a full grid at nearly maxed out graphics. Astounding improvement.

Hello and thanks to you all! Well I was thinking about saving some cash, thats why no SLI and I just wanted something pretty cheap to hold me over to the 8xxx series of cards, you know DX12 and all that new stuff in Maxwell seems worth cashing out bigtime for :) I know I could get one more 570, but as my card is only 1280gb I think I better get a card with atlest 2gb memory. Thanks for all the suggestion guys, have to think about what to do really carfull or else just get a shyss, PS4 to tide me over insteed LOL. Just joking as there is nothing with the PS4 that attracts me, weak performance so naah, that will not cut it :)

If you want to save money, SLI can usually get you the same or better performance for the same bucks. A 2nd 570 in your system would make it roughly comparable to a GTX 670. Just seems like a nice stop gap to me. Dual 770 would outperform current top of the line card of a GTX 690, and any single 780 or Titan. For $700, versus $1000.

I wasn't even able to use AA to get 60 alone on the track, had to use fxaa. now 4xaa is no problem.

@bo3b! Really impressive nvidias SLI no doubt about it. But I am afraid about the low memory I have 1280GB. Well I have to wondering a bit more, thanks annyway, appreciated.

If you are just looking for a stop gap, it's a winner, and the 1280Mb is nothing to worry about, it never stopped me playing Skyrim with all the HD texture mods installed, or any game at all. You can pick one up for $150 on eBay probably, and in a years time when you buy an 8xx card you could sell them both for the same $150 back on eBay.
