Its either conversion on the tv, or the glasses are somehow getting activated by some other process and hes getting the image taking longer to reach the other eye as the glasses shutter which will give a slight illusion of 3d in parallax movements.
*edit*
Best way to prove this would be to take a picture of actual screen while the game is running, ensuring the tv isn't auto converting.

No, the new drivers don't support OpenGL. Nvidia won't let us play Doom3 or Prey in Stereo3D /angry.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> . It won't be a problem for Nvidia to enable stereo for some OpenGL games and disable it for professional CAD-Software . But they don't care about it. They want to sell the Quadro cards /angry.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> .
@Tweakyshrimp: Maybe you have the iZ3D driver installed or the Tridef package? Or do you own a Quadro FX card with Quad-buffered-stereo support?

Sorry for ressurecting an old thread, but I feel this is important and people would like to know. I can confirm that this game works (kind of) using 3DTV Play!!
I've attached a photo for proof.

What seems to be happening is that it's displaying the images vertically offset rather than horizontally offset, so I have to turn my head on its side to see it in 3D, but I get great depth when I do that! I have to head off now, but rest assured I will be doing some more experimentation when I get back.

Guys, if you want to prove anything why don't you just grab a shot (alt+f1) , if the s-3d works in any familiar or unfamiliar way posting a few s-3d screenshots will prove this.

Yep i will try that, if i can repeat the behavior. I tried it again on my aoc monitor, again using 3dtv play, and it didn't work. Then I tried it on my TV again and it said 3d signal detected but gave me no 3d effect.

If you can get it to function again maybe try using nvidia inspector. I know it has some specialized settings you can alter for stereoscopic modes.

I did get it to function again, but it's very tempramental. Usually it starts just with a black screen and I have to alt-tab out and back in again white a few times before it displays anything. I've taken a look at the nvidia inspector program, and there are a couple of stereo settings i can change in there, but not sure if any are applicable, but I will try experimenting. I'm just installing the new nvidia drivers now though. Oh yeah, and none of the 3D shortcuts for depth adjustment or screenshots (or even enabling or disabling 3D) work in-game. I tried taking a regular screenshot but it just came out 2D.
Edit: I just discovered that Aero needs to be enabled in Windows for the 3D to activate in game. Also, I get the vertical offset in 720p mode, but if I play in 1080p I get crazy image corruption in the intro movies, but in the game the 3D is much closer to being properly aligned, but it still has a small amount of vertical offset. Haven't found a screen recording utility that can record the game either, although I haven't tried Fraps yet.

Well I give up. Conclusion: It does sometimes render in 3D using 3DTV Play, but not in any usable way (at least on my displays) and I can't do anything to fix it. I also tried recording it using Fraps, but because the nvidia drivers themselves don't seem to realise it's playing something in 3D (hence the shortcuts for depth and screenshots not working), neither does Fraps so I just got a 2D recording.
If Tweakyshrimp is still around and could let me know what drivers he was using, I could maybe try those as a last ditch effort.

I was thinking that the driver versions might play an role in getting different results.
Based on the date Tweakyshrimp first posted on this thread, the closest drivers would be version 258.96 which were released July 19 2010. Those drivers support nvidia's GTX 400 series cards and lower.

I am suprised to receive so many notices by email about that old post.
I read the latest and as I said, I gave up trying to prove it because all functions to take 3D pictures did not work. I had some comments that were very childish and some people said I was lying. I beleive that the game was not 3D vision compatible but for some reasons, it worked for me when I was in the game itself. My 3DTV was a Panasonic VT25 that did not convert from 2D to 3D and did not have any additional drivers of any kind. I am not a pro when it comes to computers since I used it only for entertainement.
Since I now have the Panasonice VT30 which now can convert from 2D to 3D, people will still think I am lying even if I try to prove it again. Beside, it was a Steam or Direct to Drive download that I am no longer using since I prefer to buy them in stores now.
To the best of my knowledge, I have...
2 Nvidia GTX 470 and my 3D vision drivers at that time was probably one of the first versions. I did not do anything in particular for the game itself, just installed it and it worked in 3D, beside the loading screen that was unwatchable and the notes in the game that where scrambled with interferences (but still readable). I did not even know it was not supported for 3D and thought it was normal until I read this post.
Dont know what else I could add but I think it is a great game 3D or not.

I want to try to replicate this(will try a driver from 2010 if newest doesn't work). Because I do find it odd and don't understand how it could work and figuring out this one game could help figuring out others. Did you run into the same issues as fasty? Were you able to configure the game? (depth convergence)
I will be trying it on my hdmi 1.3 projector. I don't think it will work. If any one has an HDMI 1.4 device,3d tv play, amnesia Id apreciate it if you tried.

It is a possibility that Amnesia's OpenGL renderer has been patched or modified with some kind of wrapper or extensions to convert it do DirectX. At least in so much that the 3D Vision driver recognizes it and tries to activate.
The alternative is that Nvidia has secretly patched 3D Vision with super secret OGL support and they forgot to tell anyone, which I find highly unlikely. I expect to see the easter bunny buy crack from the apartment next door before that happens.
The easiest solution is to email the guys who worked on the game, mainly the renderer guy, and ask them how such a thing is possible. I have seen them answering technical questions on their forum before so they seem pretty approachable.
Otherwise its got no more merit than the guy who says his unmodded PS1 can play copied games.
