Portal 2 and 3D Vision Official Status from NVIDIA
  2 / 3
Started playing this on my Optoma HD66 projector last night and the 3d is indeed excellent on it. Still using the 266.58 drivers and everything looks great!

Aside from the minor 3d glitches and the fact that portal 2 is not 3d vision ready this game is one of the best to play in 3d vision. I also can't believe some random dude from another site uploaded some screenshots showing really poor textures in portal 2's game world and claimed they wre at max settings. But portal 2 on the pc i played the game on looked great and detailed, i can honestly say portal 2 looks better than some other recent released games.

Hi All

I will look into the convergence issue as well as if the fixes we have for the water will benefit other HL2 games.

Thanks Andrew. The water would be a tremendous fix for those of us who love HL2 and Left4Dead.

Hi

Here's my update.

- Convergence. This was our fault. It was locked in the development builds of the game, but its functional in the shipping version so Im glad you guys can use it
- The water fixes are both a driver an app side fix. Valve has fixed it in Portal 2, but not the other games. So in order for our driver fix to apply we would need other games patched.

I feared that. Has Valve made any mention to you if they plan on patching those games to fix the water?

Errr, the water looks pretty bad in Portal 2 anyway. Reflections are all wrong (as they are in almost all games).

But what's killing me is the fish-eye depth effect. That's making me downright sick after a little playing. All games tend to make things look bigger when they get near the edges of the screen but I've never seen that effect go 3D before. Things near the edges of the screen appear to be cloaser in this game! A lot closer!

You can see the effect in this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ngsrytaQWSk

Another vote for Portal 2 being the best I've played in 3D. I can really up the convergence too without much disturbance, unlike most games where I can only do a little and rely more on depth for the 3D effect. Plus I think it's the only game I can keep the shadows on. Really fantastic. Looking forward to a fix for the water though. Some levels are in a room full of water.

Must be driver issue then?. I'm using 270.61 whql international and the glass is fine but looking at water in some scenes in the game world makes me go crosseyed, there is a fair amount of crosstalk? or ghosting? or halo? effect around the portal gun, on certain surfaces in the levels there are slight shadow issues. I have tried convergence etc and charging the shutter glasses but nothing changed. I just change to 2D mode if the scene is straining my vision.

Hi

Agin please read above, there are issues with water in R270.

R265 may have somewhat better results for some issues, but has other problems related to performance and crosshair issues.

We will be fixing these issues in our next major driver release soon.

I can't wait for the next big Driver release to fix these issues . I have been patiently waiting to make a review of Portal 2 and really show off what Nvidia is capable of doing. Hopefully, after the driver release I will get my opportunity.

I've noticed that sometimes the water appears to look fine while other levels it's completely messed up. Haven't figured out why yet.

Hi all

The new 275.27 driver is out. Please use that driver as it should address any issue related to water reflection corruption in Portal 2. Please post your results here. Thanks.

Confirmed water reflection fix with 275.27 for myself - currently running SLI GTX 580s.

However I get a much smoother framerate in 3D by disabling SLI.

Also, some objects still are, as mentioned, only rendered on one side. Occurs mostly on the edge of the screen when turning quickly.
