i see almost 0 ghosting on your screenshot. when i concentrate i can see it a bit but its not worth the mention.
somehow the ghosting is much more visible ingame then on screenshots it seems.
i got brightness and lightboost on max and brightness @20% - lowering it to 0 eliminates ghosting but the picture quality is unbearable.
i guess its just my crappy monitor then. what is strange is that in other games the ghosting isnt as strong as in max payne3 but probably the game has just more contrast then others.
does it help to have a higher framerate to reduce ghosting?
@Siberian_Khatru
so you suggest to reduce brightness? i always tought that ghosting only has to do with contrast?
ok i now tried every possible setting with brightness/contrast ingame and on the monitor.
on the screenshots i have no ghosting when i play the ghosting is unbearable.
seems the monitor is too slow with the screenrefreshing...
i extra bought that 3dvision2 stuff because it has been advertised as ghosting free technology - what a bogus.
i wish i had bought that asus27' 3dvision2, but no i had to spare me some money and bought that junk of acer27' 3dvision2 crap.
!!!dont buy that monitor!!!
would it help to play at an other resolution like at 110hz or 109hz??

Yes,lowering the refresh rate to 109 hz can help somewhat with the ghosting, but not much...
I have an Acer too(different type tho..LED 24inch...) and I am really satisfied with this brand...
The LED's give a sort of lightboost themselfs...that's why I bought it...
To bad you are not so happy with yours...hopefully it's only this game that gives you trouble...
Why not try and disabling every (ingame)display settings, any background programs and any USB port users...and see what happens with the ghosting...can't hurt...
BTW have you ever checked on "3d vision blog" to see if you can do something with the monitors firmware,to help you with this problem...?

thanks again for the help.
sadly there is no firmware (as far as i searched the web) for it.
the monitor seems to have a big problem with crosstalk in 3d:
http://www.digitalversus.com/lcd-monitor/acer-hn274hbbmiid-p12722/test.html
acer is doing nothing about it. its a shame as the 3d would be sooo good with this monitor but the ghosting can really ruin the expierience.
(thx god its only that bad in max payne 3 so far)
bah, i wish i had bought the asus.

I own the Asus VG278H and have terrible ghosting as well so dont feel bad, Im in the works of talking with them to try and see about maybe warrenty and see if that helps the problem. i dont know if I have a bad(slow)LCD or what but the ghosting is really bad.

If its only bad in one game its probably contrast. I have crosstalk in cerain games as well (even with dlp). Max Payne 2, Dead space 1/2. Games that are very dark when they have a bright object(lights). Will cause crosstalk. Try adjusting the ingame contrast.

Hopefully there is something in the .ini file we can adjust, I have not had a look yet.
It is a great implementation of of 3d though, just wish I could pull convergence a bit higher and it not reset every cutscene, of which there are many.

Hi Dsk1210 - I have a similar set-up to you (Phenom 3 x6 core 3.5ghz - gtx 580) and was hoping you could post your settings so I can emulate and get it running at the right fps :o)
Would you mind posting them up? - I'd try it myself but im at work and would like a seamless Work->home->game experience ;o)

actually its only that bad in max payne 3. i tried every possible setting with the contrast (ingame and on monitor) every possible setting with brightness&lightboost, even reduced colors - but to no avail. also on my crappy monitor i cant disable overdrive.
i can get rid of the ghosting with monitor/ingame contrast on 0 and ingame brightness at 100 - but the game looks like **** with this setting, i rather take the ghosting then the oversaturation.
all in all i could reduce it a litte but its still anoyingly visible. its playable but takes away from the expierience.
max payne 3 with the ghosting (and god knows why its only that stong with max payne) and the broken sunrays (which are present in about every level.) is good to excellent for me, no way near 3d vision ready.
@ace182
thats strange, in the test ive read about the VG278H it has much better response times then the Acer.
So crosstalk shouldnt be a problem on the Asus (afaik)

Epic indeed, i'm still using nvidia 3D Vision 1 and MP3 looks great, only issue i have is the sun shafts are a tad 2d space, other than that a top notch production all round, cheers with the beers. For a great challenge i'm playing in 3D on hard difficulty with a controller, epic deaths all round but fun though, any tips?, i find that if you hug the wall and stand next to a door you can press the fire trigger/left mouse and push it open to check who's inside waiting to kill ya, or just dive through in style. Rockstar Studio made bullet time and shoot-dodge so much fun.

i see almost 0 ghosting on your screenshot. when i concentrate i can see it a bit but its not worth the mention.
somehow the ghosting is much more visible ingame then on screenshots it seems.
i got brightness and lightboost on max and brightness @20% - lowering it to 0 eliminates ghosting but the picture quality is unbearable.
i guess its just my crappy monitor then. what is strange is that in other games the ghosting isnt as strong as in max payne3 but probably the game has just more contrast then others.
does it help to have a higher framerate to reduce ghosting?
@Siberian_Khatru
so you suggest to reduce brightness? i always tought that ghosting only has to do with contrast?
ok i now tried every possible setting with brightness/contrast ingame and on the monitor.
on the screenshots i have no ghosting when i play the ghosting is unbearable.
seems the monitor is too slow with the screenrefreshing...
i extra bought that 3dvision2 stuff because it has been advertised as ghosting free technology - what a bogus.
i wish i had bought that asus27' 3dvision2, but no i had to spare me some money and bought that junk of acer27' 3dvision2 crap.
!!!dont buy that monitor!!!
would it help to play at an other resolution like at 110hz or 109hz??

I have an Acer too(different type tho..LED 24inch...) and I am really satisfied with this brand...
The LED's give a sort of lightboost themselfs...that's why I bought it...
To bad you are not so happy with yours...hopefully it's only this game that gives you trouble...
Why not try and disabling every (ingame)display settings, any background programs and any USB port users...and see what happens with the ghosting...can't hurt...
BTW have you ever checked on "3d vision blog" to see if you can do something with the monitors firmware,to help you with this problem...?

Hopefully there is something in the .ini file we can adjust, I have not had a look yet.
It is a great implementation of of 3d though, just wish I could pull convergence a bit higher and it not reset every cutscene, of which there are many.

actually its only that bad in max payne 3. i tried every possible setting with the contrast (ingame and on monitor) every possible setting with brightness&lightboost, even reduced colors - but to no avail. also on my crappy monitor i cant disable overdrive.
i can get rid of the ghosting with monitor/ingame contrast on 0 and ingame brightness at 100 - but the game looks like **** with this setting, i rather take the ghosting then the oversaturation.
all in all i could reduce it a litte but its still anoyingly visible. its playable but takes away from the expierience.
max payne 3 with the ghosting (and god knows why its only that stong with max payne) and the broken sunrays (which are present in about every level.) is good to excellent for me, no way near 3d vision ready.

thats strange, in the test ive read about the VG278H it has much better response times then the Acer.
So crosstalk shouldnt be a problem on the Asus (afaik)
Windows 10 home x64

i7-3820 @ 3.6-3.8 GHz
GTX 970 SSC

How can I turn on 3D in MP3? I don't have any 3D options in MP3? Any idea?

is it hard to run in 1080p 3d? can't seem to find any 3d benchmarks. I wonder if my 2500k@4.3 and 580 would hold up 120fps.

Yeah, i read all the same stuff your saying and thought spending the extra money on the asus would make for a plesent 3d gaming experiance, but it did not. lol
