I too was there for the destruction of OPEN 3D support from Nvidia. I bought exclusively Nvidia cards back from the Win9X times for the 3D functionality. The removal of the OPEN 3D support was nothing short a dagger in the back to all of Nvidia's loyal 3D customers. I for one still feel the PAIN of that betrayal. I have HUNDREDS of DOLLARS of functional "Nvidia Reliant" equipment that is now rendered USELESS without drivers!

That is one of the biggest lines of BS ever uttered from Nvidia. It's just flat out lies! It may have been only 2 years since they released their own proprietary glass called "3D Vision" BUT they have been working on their 3D drivers for +10 years. The "3D Vision" Nvidia is currently marketing is nothing short of a forced obsolescence of non-Nvidia branded hardware which had fueled Nvidia's 3D development in the first place! They want a monopoly of the market and all the money that comes with it. PERIOD!

On a little side note. A 3D mouse pointer did exist as a hidden feature in the pre-monopoly drivers. It never really worked well and you needed a 3rd party utility to activate it but it did exist!

All that said, "3D Vision" is a solid product. Is the current version of the driver as good as their older non-proprietary one? Hell no! However it is still a good quality product. UNFORTUNATELY, I can never forget how it came about and the sensation of cold steal in my back!
I will also say the addition of a Nvidia Representative that is actually replying on their forms is a very good step in the right direction! Unfortunately I get the feeling most times the truth about issues is guarded to save face and that's a HUGE negative in my book!

I thinks its ironic that a company which spends so much money on PR and “community relations” managed to needlessly destroy loyalty of the very people who built the 3D scene in the first place, the pioneers who stuck with 3D through the dark-ages long before the Avatar crowd turned up. If it wasn’t for them “3Dvision” wouldn’t exist, nvidia would do well to remember that…

I understand what you are saying as I am a developer myself. But I don't think you get the whole picture. I'm not a 3D stereo programmer myself, so I can't really give info on what's involved in making a game fully 3DS compatible, however, I do know that textures may not be the ONLY thing that is wrong with these games as you seem to think..

As shown in my screenshot above. That way if two games were called AvP.exe then it would detect the conflict and look for a DLL in addition to the exe to determine which one it was.

Why the new driver doesn't do this, I'll never know.

It didn't do anything more than just tweaking regvalues but was really helpful. I didn't use it much myself though. Edit: I have it and uploading right now since the original link didn't work.

Dragon made it and it was called "Dragon 3D Stereo Game Utility". It didn't do anything more than just tweaking regvalues but was really helpful. I didn't use it much myself though. Edit: I have it and uploading right now since the original link didn't work.

Yes, he can use dlp-link and old skool driver. That's what I use with my DLP. And in my opinion 91.47 is a little better than 93.81 or 91.31.

Yes, he can use dlp-link and old skool driver. That's what I use with my DLP. And in my opinion 91.47 is a little better than 93.81 or 91.31.

But at the driver level implementing such a feature should be far more efficient as proven with nvidia's laser cross hair which functions VERY similar to a stereo 3d mouse cursor (statically in the middle vs dynamically move around).

My question is why a random user from the community can make a functioning 3d mouse cursor but NVIDIA cannot?
