Don't bother. You cannot update the firmware anymore for the app is no longer in the app store. I got mine and it has red lines flickering everywhere. It also doesnt allow for 1080p like the Sony HmZ does. Design is great but overall this product is abysmal. It also doesn't have wireless functionality like the sony hmzt3w. Lastest, windows keeps telling me a need a driver but there is none anywhere to be found.

yes i did. the app isn't available anymore and no where to be seen. And even if it didn't have red flickering lines in it, screen was way too compact. The eye pieces that poke out is a flaw because as soon as you put it on, they touch your eyelids and the lenses are easily greased up. It doesn't have the curved options or any screen options like the sony hmz does. The ONLY thing that's good about it is the external design. Everything else is really bad. Anyway, I sent it back as defective and got a refund because of the lines. It also randomly dims for no reason which everyone noticed in every review Ive seen. And the drivers DO NOT downssample from 1080p like the Sony Hmz. It's purely 720p and it looks terrible, it forces my pc to 720p and most games stay minimized because they were already set to 1080p and wont change back automatically unless I erase game settings (ex RE6). Winner for me is still Sony HMZ t3w until I can find a cheap royole moon. Really hate Sony HMZ head straps, that's why I'm still looking.
The link shows me nothing to solve any of the problems listed.
PS, if you wear glasses while using it, it pushes it further away from your face making the image even smaller.

Is the perceived display size on the Sony larger? I also think the Royal Moon would be a better option. With Glasses, the Glyph sucks and to see the best image, you do need to have it really close to your eyes. My eyelashes are flicking it all the time, I'm not very happy with it. I was looking for something somewhat portable to use while away from home.
The dlp technology is interesting, the picture can be very crisp. I had no issues with red flickering lines. If they make a V2 and correct the shortcomings, I'd give it a try, But this iteration leaves a lot to be desired. Oh well, I got it for $130 with a NewEgg Gift Card from Christmas, so I'm not out much.

I responded to this yesterday but firefox crashed on my phone and my message was gone. So I gave up lol. Now I got more energy, I can retype it again.
Yes, but only by 5 degrees. But it still looks way bigger than the glyph did and wider. I typed alot more but I'll just keep it short :P Royal Moon does look appetizing but kinda a lil too big. I still want to try it out, I dunno, it may shock me. I would just stick with Sony Hmz but the head strap is just too jarring and hard to put on. especially when you have to keep taking it off to type to adjust 3d settings. If Superdepth and Reshade had the reshade menu in 3D instead of just one eye, it would be that much easier. But I really want the thinness of the glyph with 1080p and speakers/interface like the moon. Also an option to start with 3D on. That would be my ideal headset.

The HMZ-T1 only outputs at 720p. 3D blu rays looked poor compared to playing them on a 1080p 3D monitor.
I have the Avegant Glyph - for some games the 3D is fantastic and the colors are sharp. For other games they run fine on the Sony HMZ-T1 but not the Glyph and the color is good but not as bright. Aside from no more updates and no store app, you can get some really good depth on the AG if you tinker with the settings. While I've not heard of any red lines in the displays, specks of dust in the displays are a known issue. I've used mine in a recliner a few times and have had it about a year - one small speck of dust in the left lens, lower right corner. I have to hunt for it a little but the optical quality and picture to me rival that of the Sony HMZ. The HMZ just seems compatible with more games.
You can get an AG for around $100 now, and a used HMZ-T1 for under $100 but you're going to want to mod the HMZ to rest on something other than your nose and forehead. Found cheap skiing goggles for one HMZ and a $4 bicycle helmet for mounting the other HMZ.

I just got today a Avegant Glyph as the price got crazy low and man I'm sorry i did not do it sooner.
This is everything I want in a 3D HMD.Image quality is extraordinary, sharpness, brighrness, saturation. The screen is big enough for me, I don't want VR.
I was supprised I could read very small text, email. When I ordered I was hoping to be able to read ingame text but this one provides much more.
I think this is what a HMD should be, at the current price it would be a pitty not to get one if you can 129$ at newegg.... Wtf. At this price is a gift.
I do need to get a loger and more solid HDMI cable tough.

You can make a custom resolution for 120Hz and another for 1080P manually downsampled on the Glyph.
While the display is sharp, I thought it was very small and perceived it as a 23 inch monitor at arms length. But yah, the price is right.
It sucks that you can not plug it into a standalone Blue-ray player to watch movies, it can not accept 1080P 2d or 3D input signals.
Plus it's also battery powered, so it must be charged regularly.
Two things to mention. It's officially supported via 3DTV Play at 720P@60 and whenever it is turned on it automatically becomes your primary display. Which can be a bit of a pain at times.
Also the lenses are right up to your eyes, glasses can be used, but not very well. Although if you wear reading glasses, the lenses can be adjusted to where you can forgo the glasses.

I updated the firmware and I have 120hz available by default.
For me the screen size seems like watching a cinema screen from the back of the hall and not like monitor.
I am farsighter -1.5 and -2 and I can adjust the lenses to be very clear. What is important is not to over compensate as the screen becomes smaller and smaller.
i just love this device, the image is great. Motion is very good, i have to see about inputlag but It might replace my TV for gaming or at least get in the "rotation".
I use monitor profile switcher and can create profiles for every display setup. And switch on the fly.
I was very disapointed about WMR because actually this is what I needed. What I don't understand is why VR insists on physical display when this tech. Is clearly better. With the right lense an mirrors you can have much higher fov and no screen door effect.
You can use it plugged in. Just get a long enough USB cable.
I think I will order a spare to have it just in case.

Which version are you currently on?
How can you tell which version of software it is using and how do you update it? AFAIK, it's only possible via the use of a phone via BlueToothe?
Interesting thing, I had no idea that it offered head tracking by connecting a USB cable to the PC.
Speaking of clear text, did you see this

I am on 1.16 firmware.
I downloaded the avegant1.3.0.apk and installed on the phone. Then connected via bluetooth.
Yes I saw that but still, vive does not have enogh resolution for me.
2 things would make this an instant buy for me - a version where I could use my own cans, and a visually larger screen!
I really love the idea otherwise, and being able to use normal input devices I guess :)

Perfect cable, I just replaced a 10 foot HDMI cable that failed after about a year using it w/ my glyph w/ that one in the above link... get that one only $7.49, 12 feet long, has a web coating so it doesn't tangle and includes L adaptors so it doesnt twist and pull against the back of the computer etc.

D-man11 how many beeps do you get when you start the glyph? I tested various thing, edids, mods and now it seems it does not charge while in use. And I get two beeps when Starting the HMD but I think before I was geting only 1.
What I found that was interesting is with DX9 games when i choose Direct 3D 120hz I get full frame SBS which is recognised by the Glyph. I tried to see of I get the same with CRT in Nvidia but ..no.
