I'm going back to a projector...need advice please.
Before I went, unfortunately, down the path of TVplay road, I had an H5360. TV doesn't cut it for me, so going back to a projector. From the looks of it, I should probably go out and find another 5360 until there is a tech change? Single Screen, btw. I'm not sure I want to fiddle with linking 2 - 1080p projectors, unless someone here has had real success. I'm not giving up my surround, but I really miss the big screen for some games. PC hardware not going to be an issue, focused on the projector side. Anything new on the horizon even? Be even appreciative of a Moderator comment :-) Thanks,

Humm, currently ~$700 @ Amazon and 720P native. You could spend more for Benq W1080ST (like I did) but if your planning on 3DPlay over HDMI the extra $300 won't be buying you anything. The Acer looks like its still a good buy.

I agree the H5360 is still probably your best bet for 3D Vision only. The 1080p native Benq W1070 would be better if you're interested in Blu-rays as well, or if you want a projector that works with Tridef (the projector supports 1080i SBS with older firmware, 1080p SBS with newer if I'm not mistaken).

I don't know if the original H5360 is still available. It was replaced by the 'BD' model which is HDMI 1.4a compliant and designed to work with 3dtv play rather than 3d vision. Might not be an issue to you and you can probably get around it with a EDID spoof or sequential mode in the 3d vision drivers, but worth bearing in mind.

Your right the BD model on works with 3DTV play now. Then benq 1080 is your best bet or try to find a used Acer one on ebay or something. Im looking to pick up a benq 1080st projector too just because i had to move my acer into a smaller room and lost some throw distance. If you looking for a Acer H5360 OP ill keep you in mind before i toss it on ebay.

Thanks, the 3dtv @ 24hz drives me nuts and kinda hooked on good 3D Vision. I haven't messed around with other options. Doesn't look like anything has changed since I had my 5360 to begin with. This is just for gaming. Bummer. Appreciate the update(s). djb

You probably want to keep your current shutter glasses, since they tend to be pricey, and also you tend to use what you prefer. If that's the case, even though I'm an H5360 user, I'd recommend not buying one. The drawback is frame sequential requirement, which is terrific for 3D Vision glasses, but it doesn't support Side by Side or any other 3D format, which means I cannot use TriDef at all. With 3D TV Play, you at least have the TriDef option for the games that only work there, or cannot be fixed. If you are coming from 3D TV Play, there is no reason not to get a projector anyway. Go to: http://www.projectorcentral.com/projectors.cfm and browse for some current projectors. You can find a couple of 1080p projectors that claim to run at 60Hz in 3D, but of course in SBS. You'd likely still be able to use whatever glasses you are currently using. (Edit: seems like 1080p/60 is supported, but not in 3D. Makes no sense since it's just a SBS. Is it possible to hack this to do right?) But, if you aren't in a rush, I'd say wait at least a few months to see if any projector supports G-Sync. I think that will be a pretty killer upgrade.

@bo3b, Thank you for reminding me to wait a tad. Good point on the G-Sync too. I have a tough time with patience at times, but still learning.

Yep, I'd wait at least for CES. There is an off chance that some manufacturer will announce something decent for projectors. 1.4b has been out for awhile, 1080p@60 might be available. If nothing happens at CES, jeez, I'll give up hope for projectors.

@bo3b, CES, ya, January, release April. Think I'll have to find a 5360. Like I said, still learning patience, but a long way from it. Most the work is the screen side as I don't wrinkly screens... Thanks! Besides, I only get 1 week a year, the 3rd week of Dec, when I get the house to myself.
