Thanks, but I do not believe my problem is a 3DTV Play activation issue. I successfully activated my version of 3DTV Play months ago, under my Windows 8.1 system. With my original Windows 8.1 OS, I can readily switch between using 3DTV Play and the 4K EDID mod (I did this today, as part of my Windows 10 testing). The cloned OS should retain the activation information, even after migration to Windows 10. Unfortunately, under Windows 10, I cannot get either 3DTV Play or the EDID mod to work...

Ironic - it appears that NVIDIA's Control Panel 3D Test application does NOT work with my display and Windows 10, but the NVIDIA driver does work with the EDID-modified display. I have tested several games with both 3D Vision and TriDef Ignition, and they appear to match their behavior under Windows 8.1 - although, Life is Strange now works under Windows 10, on my setup (great!). SOMA still mysteriously crashes after completing the switch puzzle outside Omicron. Instead of creating the crash log (as under Windows 8.1), the game/screen freezes after about one minute from puzzle completion. I verified local Steam game content before playing...

Greetings! The pop up telling me to upgrade in the task bar is becoming more urgent and more tempting. What is the deal with Windows 10 now (3D performance only), with the new driver? Only care about 3D Thanks

Can't comment on G-SYNC, don't have it nor do I really care:) Best advice is to try to make a clean install of Windows 10 rather than an upgrade;) So far I can't see any reason to stay on Windows 7 from the 3D Vision Compatibility point of view.

One benefit of Windows 10 over 7 is that Microsoft in Windows 8 provided a consistent API and device driver interface (DDI) platform for stereoscopic 3-D scenarios such as gaming and video playback. To help boost upgrades/sales, these features were exclusive to Windows 8. https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/hardware/dn653361(v=vs.85).aspx https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/hardware/dn653369(v=vs.85).aspx DirectX11.1 was going to be exclusive to Windows 8 as well, but Microsoft caved in because of the horrible reception of Windows 8. http://www.fudzilla.com/home/item/29515-windows-7-will-get-direct-x-111 "The Service Pack 1 update installs several APIs for DirectX 11.1, but will support just the WDDM 1.1 drivers, and not Windows 8's WDDM 1.2 drivers. Direct3D 11 is also available, including Direct2D and DirectWrite improvements, as well as the D3D11 Feature Data D3D9 detection and WIC updates, Microsoft said." But if Windows 10 has a large user base, it's possible that developers might take advantage of it's stereoscopic capabilities and implement native stereo support. Of course this was possible in dx9 and dx10 but wasn't as robust.

For any given 'upgrade', I always ask two questions: 1) Is there something about the old one that is so broken you can't stand it? 2) Is there something about the new one that is so compelling you just gotta have it? If you can't say 'yes', then what is the point? For this crowd, who are enthusiasts, you may just want to run the new shiny because you like to play with computers. That's good enough. For family or people who aren't enthusiasts, they are otherwise going to spend a bunch of time on stuff they could care less about, for things that are just changed and not perceptibly better. I've being running Win10 on a touch screen laptop, and it seems fine, but hardly game changing. It looks to me like the same old warmed over UI problems with very low effort to fix common annoyances. In my experience with two systems, it's also glitchy and really seems unfinished. 'Edge' in particular is a joke and not worth using. Control Panels and Settings are still in two places. Is it asking too much for someone to finish their software? It's getting better, and the latest driver from NVidia that works in 3D is a damn good sign. If you "Only care about 3D", then it's still a bad choice to upgrade. 1) For 3D, there isn't anything so horribly broken in 7 that you should update it. Maybe some glitches like SLI problems, or Swift problems, but the latest driver that fixes those bugs runs on Win7 too. 2) There isn't anything compelling in the OS from a 3D standpoint to justify the change. What am I missing that is so compelling?

@Helifax Since you are using Windows 10, perhaps you can help DarkStarSword out by testing something for him. It's on the Unity 5 Engine and I know you were able to get OpenGL working. https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/885693/3d-vision/unity-5-dx11-stereo-mode-does-it-work-/

I've never experienced the Out of Memory bug in DX9 games. What games would I see this on? I think maybe I saw this with GTA5, but I'm pretty sure that's because they were previously leaking memory like a firehose. For the OpenGL-Interop layer, that sounds like a genuine win, and also suggests that OpenGL is also getting more attention in Win10. At some point, that alone will be reason to switch.
