well the game just magically starting working again one day. Anyways, is there a way to change the separation on the fly when entering vehicles?
Weird. My deleting settings might have been a placebo when I had this problem before. The game launch is always a bit fraught.
For doing separation- no way to do it with GTA itself, it has no support for changing.
You could use 3Dmigoto if you wanted to. Run just the normal version, with no fixes in ShaderFixes, as they are no longer necessary. Then setup Key* transitions to however you like. You could make it activate when you hit the key to hijack a car. And toggle when you exit. Look in the d3dx.ini for details.

I recently increased my CPU OC from 4.2 to 4.5 GHz and it made zero difference for GTA V, so I gave up for 4K 3D again and continue to play at 1440p around 25-32 fps in demanding areas as usual. At 4K it was around 15-20 fps or lower. (Why "again and usual", because time to time for years I did tries hopelessly with new drivers or tried to find the best settings combination for best image quality)
Few days ago I bought a 1080ti for other games, because thinking that it will make no difference in GTA V when my CPU is bottlenecking. But I was wrong, fps increased at 1440p and really surprised, because with the new GPU and even with higher settings, I can play at 4K 3D around 30-35 fps.
So to my surprise GTX 980 was a bottleneck too, lol. Video memory usage was always lower than 4GB limit, mostly around 3-3.5 GB, GPU usage is never reached above 70% at 1440p. Because of these I never thought my GPU dragging performance down, but it was actually.
Possibilities come to my mind:
- GTA V is limiting itself above 3 GB VRAM usage with some cards that have 4 GB or lower memory.
- My 980 is faulty or have memory issues or something else. But was fine with other games, no issues, worked as expected.
- It's just what it is, some 980s have issues or incompatibility with this game.
Does anyone have a similar experience with this game with a new 10** GPU?
PS: Only changed hardware is the GPU and GTA V's own upscaling is off.

I've read a lot about the CPU/3 cores bottleneck in this thread and wanted to test how the game scales for both CPU and GPU. I have a Core i7-6700K and a GeForce GTX 1080, but recently had an opportunity to try two 1080 Ti for a couple of days.
I used the built-in benchmark and averaged FPS between its 5 passes. I set everything including advanced settings to max, the resolution to 1920x1080, vsync off and MSAA disabled. I switched my CPU between 2, 3 and 4 GHz and used my own 1080, one 1080 Ti and two 1080 Ti in SLI. The results look interesting.
1. GPU scaling

You can see that the game is clearly CPU bound in 2D and SLI even gives a little drop in performance, but other than that the lines are almost flat. But 3D is different. While 1080 Ti doesn't give much improvement, it's still consistently ~1 fps ahead. I think it would've been more than 1 fps difference if my 1080 wasn't factory overclocked. The most surprising thing is SLI gives a big improvement in 3D while it didn't help at all for 2D. The difference is still there even with the CPU downclocked to 2 GHz. It means that the game/3D Vision driver is not 100% CPU-bound in 3D like many people here thought.
2. CPU scaling

Here's the same data, but grouped by the CPU clock speed. Here we see that both 2D and 3D scale linearly, but 2D scales a little bit better.
The conclusion that I can make is the game is more CPU dependant for both 2D and 3D, but it's also GPU dependant for 3D. There is definitely some kind of a bottleneck because FPS in 3D shouldn't be 3 times worse than in 2D like we see here. I think it's just more complicated than a single CPU bottleneck like some people think. As a result of the bottleneck(s), both CPU and GPU are used less in 3D than in 2D. Possibly it's some kind of synchronization between CPU and GPU that is not as optimized for 3D as for 2D.
If anybody is interested in more details, I can share benchmark text files and CPU and GPU load graphs.
