AVATAR the movie who plans to watch it multiple times?

I'll definitely go for second round next week. Just so damned incredible visuals in S3D.

I seen it at midnight this morning, and it was incredible. Unfortunately I got to the IMAX a little later than expected and had to sit up front, so that kind of sucked. However, I was so blown away by the movie itself that I am going to go again and see it on sunday with my mom and sister (for their xmas gift, they probably would never have bothered to see it otherwise, so they are gonna enjoy it, it will be their first 3-D movie). I will go see it with my wife in Germany when I get there next week, and that will probably be it until it comes to Blu-Ray next year.

Now that the 3-D standard for Blu Ray has been finalized I can't wait to see what happens at CES in a few weeks. I really hope that Nvidia and Sony collaborate with 3dvision and the PS3, because that would guarantee a sale for them for sure from myself and probably many others on this board. If I will need a separate but similar system for PS3 3-D then I will pass and stick to the PC.

I saw the 3D preview with a friend on Wednesday (here in Germany) and we were both blown away. I will revisit this movie before christmas with my whole family and even my friend, who never has visited the same movie twice at cinema, will be with us. In fact I hardly know anybody who will not go to cinema for this movie.

Though I have to admit that I wished that the movie has more 3D depth. Cameron is really very conservative here.

I agree, it's a shame because it is a great movie. It could have blown the audience away with more 3d depth.

Wonderful movie. As for 3D, decent pop-out at IMAX, but not much depth past a certain point.

i heard the '3d effect' was turned down for the busy action scnes, but i didnt realise that ment it was completely switched off (or as near as)
for a 2.5 hours movie you have to aware of eye fatigue.

tech was 9/10
story was 6/10

Yeah I saw this last night and I liked it a lot. Unlike some other people I thought the story was actually very good. The 3D was, for the most part, mild. I think Cameron could have done more with the 3D but I guess it was almost a 3 hour movie. I will most definitely see it again. I went to a RealD theater last night (IMAX was sold-out for 3 days straight) but I will see in IMAX3D next time around. Very nice movie.

Saw premier at midnight in Real3D. Plan on seeing in IMAX 3D as well. Good, not great movie story-wise, but the action and visuals are more than worth multiple showings. Will probably even hold up in 2D.

I saw it here in france as well. Great movie, loved it, love the fact that the movie is in a decent 3d even if the effects are not the best ever, it is great to finally see a 3d movie of this quality !

Now, i really hope for a nvidia 3d vision compatible dvd or bluray to see this movie on my computer with the 3d on when it will be release in dvd !

I went to IMAX to watch the Ghosts of the abyss (Titanic) which used large LCD shutterglasses and came away unimpressed. Given this was back in 2003 but I assume there's virtually no change to that technology. On the other hand, the RealD polarisation technology in Avatar (and other S3D films that came out this year) provides a superior image without eyestrain, apparently RealD technology can bring the S3D experience to the next level, IMO.

Saw it on the IMAX today and definitely give it a 10/10, it was all I'd hoped it would be and more. :D I'll definitely see it again next week.

They could have made better use of pop-out, and yes the stereo effect was a bit weak at times, but I appreciated that the 3d was a "complement" to the movie and really wasn't meant to be all "in your face" for 3 hours (also bearing in mind that this forum community is a lot more desensitized to stereo 3d than basically everybody else in the world). As a whole it worked beautifully. I predict they'll turn a tidy profit on the film in no time and there will be a sequel in the works in a matter of months if not weeks.

I saw it yesterday but there will be no one round for me. The closest 3d-cinema is 250 kilometres away. The car ride for this event was totally worth it though! :D
Hopefully for Alice they've opened up a 3d-cinema closer to my location. /haha.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':haha:' />

Likay,
Alice trailer indeed looks very promising, but driving 250Km to see Avatar should be counted as seeing the movie 10 times, that makes you the champion so far. May be eventually I can go see the movie 5 times max, but not driving that far for any movie. Your passion with S3D makes mine look like a p u s s y.

Couldn't wait til next week, I just went to the movie again and it was better than the first time still, I was able to just take in the graphics and not worry about the story. And it still is a beautiful incredible world that Cameron creates. The wait for the sequel starts now.
