Hey guys
I just bought this title and the game needs some items addressed, does anyone know if a fix has been posted on here? I have searched Google high and low and not come up with anything.

Seems pretty unlikely that the underlying graphics engine changed. Maybe give that a try and let us know if works or does not work.

If I recall correctly, it's the Frostbite 2 engine (The lighting is certainly reminiscent of BF3 - startlingly bright whites, a bit hazy, and generally quite delicious looking).
Funny thing about the The Need For Speed series is that most of them have almost nothing in common except for their name. They have different developers, different engines, and different philosophies. Some are physics-heavy sims, while others are cartoonish arcade games.
This one is basically the spiritual successor to Burnout Paradise (very arcadey, super fast, open-world). It's also fantastically awesome. I hope it gets patched one day.

I'm right there with you. The game was such a blast to play through and it's my number one 3D fix hope. Fully working 3D, combined with the camera hack that lets you set the FoV and manually position the camera including first person view, would be absolutely stellar.

Hey guys, not really trying to derail the topic, but I've been let down by so many racers before, I'm looking for some feedback. I haven't been fully satisfied with a Need for Speed title since "Pro Street" and it's mostly because of the lack of car customization. I will easily spend as much time tweaking my cars' appearance as I do racing them, so it's a big deal to me. Another thing, of course, is being able to play in 3D. I own both of the "NFS: Shift" games, but no 3D = no fun.
I also would prefer a little more arcadey feel than simulation. I own "NFS: Undercover" but that's near unplayable with the bugs, annnd it's somewhat dated and just not that great of a game.
So what about Most Wanted? (And I assume we are talking about the new one of that name, right?) I could probably stand to play in 2D as long as the customization is good.
Or what about Grid 2? Is that worth owning? I've been hesitant to take a risk at full price...

I can't speak to Grid 2 as I do not own it.
I don't think Most Wanted 2012 will scratch your customization itch. Every car in the game is pretty customizeable, but all the customizations only affect the performance, and every car gets access to the same customizations.
They're things like lighter body, more potent nitrous, reinflating tires, things like that.
It's a lot more like Burnout Paradise than the older tuner-era NFS games.
For what it's worth, if you've got a car customization itch and want a fairly recent game - it's not racing but Saints Row 4 has some pretty widely customizable vehicles. I wish I could suggest more games to you but honestly, I just don't think many games lately have had that same type of customization.

If you take a look a this screenshot I took, you'll see that this game is more than just a "little arcadey!" :D
I don't remember much customisation, though I could be wrong. It has a LOT of cars though, and they're very gorgeous.
It also has a really nice feature where you compete against your friends to smash through billboards and get the longest jump. If you break the record, then that billboard becomes painted with your avatar (in both your and their games). I know it's not exactly 'customisation', but one of my fondest gaming memories was doing crazy jumps in the airport area until all 10 or so billboards there had my picture on them :)
As far as open-world racers and car customisation go, the ones that I can remember having the most car customisation are probably Burnout Paradise and Test Drive 2 Unlimited.

GRID 2 is great in 3D, and a good balance between simulation and arcade. Only issue was that convergence was fixed at a low value when using bumper/hud cam. There is a config file fix, all explained somewhere on these forums...

Thanks guys. I think Grid 2 might be the ticket. Racing is fun, but if there's very little customization to balance it out, I don't enjoy it. And I would hate to play a non-3D game when I have the means to play in 3D. I think I'll wait until it gets a little cheaper though. Arkham Origins is on the horizon...

You should consider checking out Test Drive Unlimited 2. Its schtick is that it's not just about racing cars, but is about the lifestyle of a car enthusiast. So a big part of the game is about going to showrooms, collecting cars, buying nice houses and garages to store and view them in, and of course choosing colours and designs. All on a massive and very picturesque recreation of Hawaii.
I played it in 2D and greatly enjoyed it. Though it sounds like the 3D is decent too

Test Drive Ultimate 2 is great in 3D. I think it is in-game engine which deal with it. Game is great as well - maybe not action packed like NFS but definitely great racing experience. Recommended especially for those beautiful island views in 3D.

This is Origin's latest On the House free game. It defaults to a compatibility mode profile. To my eyes, it looks satisfactory overall. Certainly not as good as true stereo, but better than 2D.
