Hello,
I recently purchased a ViewSonic monitor with 3D capabilities to go with my Dell XPS 15. Unfortunately, the XPS 15 only outputs to HDMI. So I purchased an HDMI to DVI-D cable. After hooking everything up, I am coming up short. It won't even output 1680x1050 @ 60Hz. Is there anything I can do to fix this? Because otherwise, the monitor and the 3D kit are both going back.

No your screwed on this one.
If you don't have a real Dual Link DVI connector on the machine none of the monitors will work in 1080P@60Hz and many of them won't go into 3D at all.
