Hey guys,
I met the devs for this at PAX Aus, and I'd been following them since they released a very early demo on Steam probably about two years ago now. They just released Beatbuddy, and aside from being a fantastic game, it works perfectly in 3d. Not a single broken shader. It's 2D-2.5D, in that the main character and background elements are mostly 3d, and a lot of other elements are 2d paintings. It looks a lot like Rayman Origins did in 3d, in that layered 2d sense. It's really pleasant to look at.
On top of that, it's great to play too. The gameplay has a really strong sense of rhythm to it, and you'll find yourself tapping your feet to the music as you go. Definitely worth a look. I've only played the first level so far, and not encountered any 3d issues.

I'm about halfway through now, not one single problem. Also - it's still toe-tappingly good. You really play it to the beat of the music, and I'm humming one of the tracks as I type this.

Almost miss this thread....and almost miss this game.
Amazing game!!! play with the music...
Improvements:
- Remove depth of field or the blurry stuff on the back (add a lot to 3D quality)
- Pop-up HUD (energy bar)

To offer some final thoughts - I've now completed the whole game, and didn't find a single problem. Could really crank both depth and convergence to create some great toyification. Only issue was when the camera zoomed in occasionally and I'd have to turn down the convergence to compensate.
As for the game itself, I had a good time. There's definitely a bit too much repetition in the puzzles, and a greater variety of flora and fauna would have been very welcome (as opposed to the same types in almost every level). Those were minor issues though, the game still had a great sense of flow to it, and gets a thumbs up from me.

It's on sale for 75% off during the autumn sale. Picked it up for 3.74 and have completed the first couple levels. This really is an excellent game and at least as good looking as the Rayman games. Can't believe it was made using the Unity engine.
