I recently came across this 3D vision from Nvidia and Im really interested in buying it, just one thing I dont understand, I have been running down this forum a few times and only things I see are extreme topics about massive ghosting etc. But on the other hand I also see alot of topics about people loving 3D vision without having any problems. So what im wondering is which of these people are right or do some people exagerate ghosting, or cuz do they only fancy one certain game which doesnt work very well with 3D vision while loads of others do ?
I would love to get the 3D vision stuff but those negative topics just make me think sometimes if I should buy it.
note: Im going for the 120 hz acer full HD screen.

My personal experience is I see ghosting in most games. Basically the only game I didn't notice ghosting was the avatar demo. Games I tried were left 4 dead 2, mass effect, borderlands, and world of warcraft so its not just 1 game. Now if I had a chance to go back in time with the knowledge I have now I would most likely still buy it. However the acer monitor isnt available yet so i cant comment on it, my experiances are with the viewsonic.

I see ghosting in most games but the amount varies from practically non-exsistent to very obvious. The vast majority of the games I've played fall into the just above non-existent category. I have found that my mind tends to ignore the ghosting after I have gotten into the game and played for a while. Nope the technology isn't perfect but it has without a doubt increased my enjoyment of PC games to the point where I have picked up the PC version of some multi-platform games to play on my 22 samsung monitor when I could have purchased the Xbox 360 version to play on my 10 foot projection screen. Yeah it was worth it.

I get no ghosting on my Samsung DLP. Whatever you do, don't buy the Samsung 2233RZ. I also own the Alien AW2310 monitor. I would recommend it even to first time users. Word of advice...have patience when you first get 3D vision. It takes time to adapt. /sorcerer.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':sorcerer:' />

I own a samsung 2233RZ and i do not experience any ghosting that everyone is talking about...
Perhaps the screens are manufactured in different parts of the world? - & ive got a "good" one?
I'm in a similar situation to you, doubleome. I'm looking to upgrade my monitor (which I've had for years) in late Febuary and I thought it might be worth picking up a 3D capable monitor since it would make it less expensive, as I have to buy a new monitor anyway.
However, I'm still not sure whether it's worth spending £280-£300 on a new monitor (when I could get a good 2D capable one for under £200), plus an additional £100 for the glasses when the monitors apparently suffer from major ghosting. I can't afford a plasma or projoector, nor do I have the space for the latter, so it's my only option.
The Samsung and Viewsonic monitor's both seem to be very poor and while the Alienware appears to be an improvement, numerous people here have commented on ghosting, colour bleeding, etc. Basically, the Acer is my only hope :( I must admit I find it slightly ludicrous that the monitor's all suffer from similar problems, even the "second generation" ones.
The differing opinions here don't help matters much either. Some people say they don't have ghosting, some say it varies depending on the game while others claim it's severe - when they all use the same monitor, who are we to believe?
If Nvidia are wondering why their 3D technology hasn't received more recognition, then this is why.

That is what we are up against.
I'm telling you now, you can totally erradicate ALL ghosting by setting the depth to minimum and just playing your 3d with convergence. However you are not getting the full benefit of the 3D experience. If you go 100% depth the ghosting is several inches apart from it's material.
Like it's been said. The ghosting bugs the sh1t out of me, BUT you do kinda forget its there when your lost in your game.
Would I take my 3D setup back NO WAY!!!
Do I wish it didn't have it's drawback of course, but I'm sure these drawbacks will be sorted by summer to Christmas period.
Ofc it isn't just the ghosting that is a downer. Developers are not embrasing the 3D tech to it's fullest yet.
Yes you can play 100's of games in glorious 3D, but don't expect the experience to be hiccup free. 2D icons such as hud and crosshair need to be rendered at depth and in most cases they are not. This is particularly bad for FPS's.
I'm sorry if you guys sitting on the fence are getting mix messages, but you have seen for yourself. Hundreds of posts about ghosting CAN'T BE WRONG!

Skip them both and get the 285. If you can't afford the 295, the 285 gives serious BANG for the buck!

The way I see it, is that 2d is like 100 points of fun, 3d with ghosting is 150 points of fun, while 3d with no ghosting would be like 170 points of fun.
My point is that its still more fun even with some noticeable ghosting.
The "downside" of testing 3d vision is that you will be spoiled by it, and dont want to go back to 2d. Its like getting a better monitor, suddenly everything thats worse than your monitor will suck to use. I cant imagine a world without 3d vision for me anymore.

Speaking of buying cards, here in Norway there is serious trouble getting hold of those cards, all the 2xx cards are sold out. Some issue with Nvidia not being able to supply chips i think. Where do you guys order from ?

Perhaps the screens are manufactured in different parts of the world? - & ive got a "good" one?
