Windows 7 and 3D Vision Discussion about OS, game, card and 3D driver compatiabilty
Hi all!

I'm completely new to the forum, so my apologies for leaping right in like this. I'm getting a custom gaming rig delivered next week with the GTX 480, running Windows 7 and including the Nvidia 3D Vision with 120hz monitor. Colour me excited!! I've always loved 3D, and while this has all been a bit expensive, I'm getting really stoked about playing my fave games in 3D.

HOWEVER!

...I have heard rumbling about some games not working due to Windows 7 compatiability issues, and maybe some Win7/Nvidia 3D issues too. Fallout 3 seems to crop up a lot, which is a crying shame as I love that game.

Anyway, I was wondering if you guys were running Windows 7, and if so what games hhve you got running, both new and old, on the new OS and with 3D Vision running? Any problems you've had? Any games I should avoid when using Win7? How about Steam? I'm hearing of 'out of the box' games being more reliable than those downloaded off Steam due to some launcher issues of some kind.

I'm going to be trading a ton of 360 games in to finance new PC ones, and I've got my eye on Fallout 3 GOTY, Just Cause 2, Bad Company 2 (though I've heard there's a crosshair problem since the patch?), Batman AA Goty and Oblivion GOTY. have any of you had any issues running those on Windows 7 with the 3D Vision?

Anyway, apologies for the rambling post - over to you! I'd love too hear your recommondations of stuff you've got working on Windows 7 with 3D Vision.

You have much reason for excitement !! /woot.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':woot:' /> All of the mentioned games run awesome, might have to scour these forums for the latest bits and bobs for the 'non 3d-ready' games though.

I run Win7 and have had no major issues with my 3d experience. To my knowledge, there is nothing to be wary of with Win7.

Fallout 3 is simply fantastic, try mapping the nvidia crosshair to a quick mouse button if you find it distracting. Oblivion is great as well.

What screen/monitor are you getting ??? My sammy 22'' just broke yesterday, its getting fixed and in its absence I'm looking for alternatives..... Asus 27'' where are you !!? Its past june already :(

Thanks for getting back to me with those reassuring words. Your comment made me instantly happier about my purchase.

The monitor sounds like it is the same as yours - Samsung 22" 120hz.

Roll on next Friday when my new rig and 3D Vision kit turns up!!!

Thanks for getting abck to me guys. I'm currently going through my Steam list on my Windows 7 laptop, running games that aren't officially for this OS, to see what works and what doesn't. Spellforce 2 is downloading at the mo. Hopefully this will mean I have a list of games ready to download and enjoy on my new rig and 3D set-up when it arrives next Friday.

Windows 7 users - have you any recommendations of new games that are particularly effective, that work well both with the 3D Vision and the latest graphics cards?

My list so far includes:

Just Cause 2
Oblivion GOTY
Fallout 3 GOTY
Batman AA GOTY
Left 4 Dead 2
Bad Company 2 (I'm hoping the crosshair issue won't spoil the game too much)

That'll probably keep me going for a while, but do you ahve any other recommendations for new and powerful rigs?
