Class of 2016 - Time for another Alltime Top 5 3D Vision games thread
1 / 3
Yes I know these threads emerge on a regular basis but they are also very fun and I have made it a habit to let those lists guide me when in need of deciding which game I should play next.
Since numerous awesome titles have been added to the 3D Vision-list (thanks to all our beloved 3D-prophets) since this "Alltime Top 5"-question was asked last I guess 2016 coming to an end is just the right time to collect some up-to-date opinions.
Since I just finished the Battlefield I campaign and already have numerous fixed 3D Vision gems sitting on my shelf waiting to be played I am especially interested in your opinions.
A short description why a specific title made it onto your list is highly welcome!

Funny thing I was just reading the thread from last year and trying to decide which games to play based on that, I play the games usually based on my mood, not in the mood for games with too much action lately, a bit lazy hehehe so just finished Grow Home/UP and next game to play will be Brothers - A Tale of Two Sons.
It is very difficult to pick the best games coz for me there are games that I had great experiences but the 3D effect is not that impressive.
My list of top games that I have played more recently:
Rise of the Tomb Raider - It is my all time favorite game, for me the most beautiful in 3D and I love the game.
Batman: Arkham Knight (Superdepth3d) - It seems every game just gets better than the before, loved the story the gameplay, joker is hilarious, a great game and superdepth3D did work well for me, not that impressive but really nice.
Battlefield 1 - The campaign parts that you get to drive the tank and the airplanes are just amazing in 3D.
Grow Home/Up - Played these the other day, nice games to kind of relax if you are tired of too much action. They are absolutely beautiful in 3D.
Mario games in Dolphin emulator (Galaxy/Sunshine) - hell... Mario looks so good in 3D.
Just tested:
Quantum Break - Looks amazing in 3D, and seems to be a great game but haven't played much, waiting a cpu upgrade to play.
Just Cause 3 - Same, looks beautiful but havent played, so can't comment if the game is actually good.
Games that I played a while ago and still hold a place as beautiful art style that really shine in 3D and I think most of us already know and hope for more like these are: Trine Series, Ori and the Blind Forest and Child of Light
Anyway, still have lots of old games to play, I am holding on playing new games coz need a cpu upgrade. If people can share some good old games as well would be nice. I haven't played Metro and Dead Space games, have seen comments that they are great, so they will be next on my list.

Personal favourites
Euro Truck Simulator 2 - bought it on a steam sale thinking it was a bit of a joke but looks amazing in 3d providing you use the nvidia inspector antialiasing tweak.
Black Mesa - a half life 1 mod - still missing xen until the summer but great fun in 3d. Difficult mode is a challenge ;-)
Half Life 2 update - still a classic and updated with better graphics. Works almost perfectly in 3d.
Trine series
Bioshock Infinite with helixmod fix
Portal 2 and the huge mod Portal Stories Mel. Can't beat flying through the air in 3d with a portal gun!
Dear Esther - walking sim with a story - beautiful.
Mafia II - great graphics in 3d.

Rise of the Tomb Raider joined its predecessor in my steam library's Best Game Ever category before I was even halfway through. It's completely unbelievable. Made me feel bad for 4k and vr gamers.

My Lists usually mean best experiences in 3D not really best games of all time or anything like that. Although the exception is Witcher 3 which has probably has become my favorite game of all time.
1. Witcher 3
2. Rise of the Tomb Raider
3. Streetfighter 5
4. Path of Exile
5. Dark souls 3
Honorable mention Guild Wars 2. (although the fix in some areas needs a revisit.)
also, Although I have heard good things about Arkham Knight in superdepth 3d unfortunately I can't check it out since my hard ware is not compatible, but I would question "fake" 3D games should be up for consideration no matter how good they are due to limitations of Depth buffer 3d.

Since I'm physically and psychologically unable to play anything in 2D, my list contains only 3D titles and is based on my Steam's spent hours records:
1. Fallout 4 - 876 hrs - only because of the approx. 250 installed mods.
2. Witcher 3 - 234 hrs - for obvious reasons - best game/experience of this millennium
3. Grand Theft Auto V - 165 hrs
4. Mad Max - 89 hrs - great atmosphere
5. Rise of the Tomb Raider - 45 hrs - because of Lara ;)
Thank you to all the fantastic guys @ Helixmod for their work and for making possible even the existence of such a list.

Another great 100+ hr game is Phantom Pain (including Ground Zeroes preface). Superb fix, visuals, performance, story/action. May require a little research to pick up overarching storyline, but Phantom Pain is reasonably early in Metal Gear timeline of events.

I haven't played through many games in 3D this year, now that I look back on it. My picks would be Trine 3, GTA V, Life is Strange and Far Cry 4 - none of which came out this year.
I have plenty of 3D Vision games on my "To Play" list, I've just been getting through a lot of 2D (by design) titles, a few that don't have fixes, plus console gaming. I expect to get to a few more 3D titles soonish though.
If we're loosely talking about games of the year though (and yeah, I'm shoehorning) - The Last Guardian is incredible. It's not everyone's cup of tea, but I suspect many of us around here would appreciate it. PS4 exclusive unfortunately, but hey - I bought a PS3 for this game back when it was announced, then a PS4 for it this year - and I wasn't disappointed.

Yeah I am thinking about buying a PS4 for that game alone;)) Remember Shadows of the Colossus and that game is a lost gem. So, yeah I believe the Last Guardian is something like that;) I just wish they would make a PC port for it though:( Playing it in 2D will be too sad...
My List in no specific order:
- Rise of the Tomb Raider
- Dark Souls 3
- Dark Souls 2 DX11 with fix by masterotaku
- Witcher 3 (ofc but is technically a last year game with an expansion this year)
- Battlefield One campaign
- Titanfall 2 Campaign (really awesome 3D and game).
- DOOM
- Deus Ex: Mankind Divided looks awesome in 3D and the story is OK/Good.
- Far Cry Primal - is a must game for 3D and gameplay :)
- Mirror's Edge Catalyst with the DHR fix looks awesome in 3D. Can't comment on the actual game as I didn't get far in it;)

I would say that World of Warcraft Legion is the worst game of the year.
The thing is, if you have 3D Vision options in your in-game UI for enabling stereoscopic gameplay, you should at least attempt to fix issues that are present.
People have complained for years on their forums to fix 3D, as well as opened support tickets, Blizzard simply ignores them. Yet the same problems have been present for 5 years, plus now they broke the 3D cursor and a few more things in the latest expansion.
I'm not playing it anymore, I tried Legion, it sucked overall due to new changes. But yah, Legion should get the award for shittiest game that offers 3D as an option in-game this year.

2016 Games only
Dark Souls 3 (Thanks to Helifax)
Rise of the Tomb Raider
I played all the way through those 2 in 3d.
Dragons Dogma - looks nice in 3d but I haven't played much/gotten into it yet.
When I eventually get a 1070 (cant believe they still haven't dropped that much in price) I'll have to buy Far Cry Primal - that'll be like $5 by then :D

I'm not playing it anymore, I tried Legion, it sucked overall due to new changes. But yah, Legion should get the award for shittiest game that offers 3D as an option in-game this year.
