Nvidia stereo controller detection issues
One of the first posts I made on this forum was in regards to this issue that has persisted for the few months i have owned the Nvidia 3D vision kit. Basically when i turn my computer on about 25% of the time the ir sensor will not be recognized unless i unplug the usb cable and plug it back in or restart the computer.

I have tried many different drivers, different usb ports, and have reinstalled windows but the problem persists. I'm worried i am going to wear out the cable or inputs if i keep pulling this thing in and out all the time. I never see any posts on here about this issue but i really think it's software related as i have quite a few usb devices that work 100% of the time.

When it comes to the sensor itself it works perfectly fine, i check to make sure it's not getting too hot and i can play games for hours without ever encountering an issue.

Over the long term i worry this is going to wear out my cable and the inputs it requires.

Have you turned on plug and play option in bios ?
Bios update ?
Have you tried installingen the drivers again (delete the old ones first) ,because I had the same problem when I first started using 3dvision....,after installing everything the second time, all was good.

Just a couple of things I could think of,that could help maybe solve the problem.

What kind of system do have running if I may ask ?

I have this happen with mine aswell but only once in a blue moon. I havn't figured out anything as to the cost. I did have something startling happen one time. It happened and I didn't notice. I continued to use my PC and started to smell burnt electronics smell. I sniffed around (lol) and for whatever reason noticed the light wasn't on at all on the emitter so I went to check if it was plugged in. When I grabbed it it was hot to the touch. Very very hot. I let it sit for a while and cool. Plugged it in and it works fine. Has continued to work fine for months.

I made a thread on this when it happened and only got a few responses. Only one other person showed up and said its happened with them. We both just finally said our fix was to not leave it plugged in.

I know that is kind of alarming, but better to know and be ready then unaware and get caught off guard.

My understanding of my computers bios is very limited; i'm one of those lame people who tend to keep away from the internal portions of his computer. I haven't a clue how i'd go about updating a bios.

I have reinstalled the same drivers (uninstalling them before) several times.

My system is a Core i7 920@ 2.67 Ghz, 6 gigs of DDR 3 ram, Windows 7 (64-bit), a Geforce 285 GTX with 2 gigs of Vram, and a Samsung SyncMaster 2233.

Don't worry ,..if you start your computer..,keep pressing DEL . (most of the time...,sometimes it's F1 or F2 etc.)
You then automaticly go to the bios settings.
Look around and somewhere you see a line saying `Plug and play = no` (or Plug and Play = yes)
If it´s no,them turn it to yes and save your bios.

Normally it´s doesn´t matter if it´s on or off,..because windows has it´s own program that makes plug and play work.
But it´s something I would try if I´ll be you,..it´s easy don´t worry !

I had this problem intermittenly as well the first few weeks I got my 3D Vision kit, and was concerned as well because the stereo controller was often undetected on a boot or even after resume from S3 Sleep. Ultimately the fix was to swap out the USB to mini-USB cable from the extra long one provided to the shorter ~6' cable. I think it must've been a cable run/signaling issue, I made some other minor changes like changing the USB output, completely uninstalling and reinstalling the driver, and slightly increasing ICH and ICH I/O voltage in my BIOS, but if I had to guess swapping the cable made the biggest impact for me. Have not had a problem with the receiver being recognized since.
