So the Sony Hmz-T1 will be supported by Nvidia 3Dtv play but my question is when?
Will it be supported and playable from the start or will we have to wait
a month or two staring at our brand new HMDs gathering dust in the "command center"...crying.

That my friend is almost guaranteed with nvidia. Remember 3D surround was advertised on the GTX 480's packaging but there was no surround driver for at least 3 months. I was that person crying in my command centre. Prepare for it to happen again.

Hi
If the HMD supports HDMI 1.4 (which I suspect it will for PS3 compatibility) we can absolutely support this with 3DTV Play. We are contacting Sony to get details so we can support it.
Hope that gives you some hope! :)

Since there is a lot of interest in this thread, I figured I would respond.
We have received a test unit of the Sony HMD in house, and we can support it with 3DTV Play. This means you will need to have a paid for license of 3DTV Play to enable 3D content over HDMI 1.4.
What will happen is we will add support to our driver and depending the timing, it will either be supported in a new release, or it will require installing the 3DTV Play Update Utility.
Regardless, I will respond back in this forum when support is available.

I assume that existing 3D Vision users with the Emitters will also have this functionality without purchasing the additional license????

Yep, that's correct. 3D Vision users get 3DTV Play for free.
I'm so glad you are supporting this, thanks andrew!
One question, since this has it's own lcd screens, I assume you will get 3d even with high light conditions, no annoying flickering like the current 3d glasses right?

Can you confirm if the HMD will work with Quadro cards, specifically Quadro 4000(desktop) and Quadro 5010M (mobile)?
(running a quad buffered OpenGL app, preferably Linux but Windows would do)
We're sitting in Tokyo so we'll get our hands on one of the precious things as soon as we know it works.
By the way, Japanese website says ships from 2011/11/11, didn't know sony has humour ;-)

Just came back from the Sony store. Tested the HMZ. Wanted to believe it was awesome but it just isn't. Looks like your sitting about a meter and a half from a 46" tv. Picture quality is great, but the unit is heavy, sat on my nose uncomfortably (probably need to change the head pad)
Too bad but I'm cancelling my preorder. I get a far better VR experience sitting a meter from my 100" projector. Oh well, I'll be waiting on the next iteration, it needs better FOV.
Don't believe the marketing hype (750" screen at 20 meters) my measurements above are more accurate.
