World of Tanks broken in 275.33
  1 / 2
Ever since updating to the 275.33 drivers and the beta drivers before that World of Tanks no longer works right. It will give me an error message saying Out of Memory. If I roll back to the previous official drivers it works fine in 3D. Same exact game settings used in each just the drivers are different.

I am getting a slightly different issue with 275.33 GTX 465. World of Tanks was playable when I was playing a light tank (first / third person view). But when I played as Artillery (overhead view)...

When there were more then 1 tank in my view the screen would shutter and mouse movement lagged. (almost like a complete drop in frame rates).
If I only saw one tank, it still had issues, but not nearly as much.

As soon as I'd go back to first / third person view, my video lag would almost go back to normal. The more times I switched the views, it got worse.

Overall World of Tanks is unplayable (as artillery) with 275.33

Yep I'm getting the same problem since upgrading to 275.33 too. This was never a problem with older drivers.
I have a GTX580 and a stereoscopic 3D setup (nVidia LCD shutter glasses). My settings in nvidia control panel are that all games start up in non-stereoscopic mode (so you have to hit CTRL T to put the display into glasses mode). This means that unless you hit control-T, there shouldn't be any difference when you start a game to an non-stereoscopic system.

However I found that just by having the "steroscopic 3d suport" checkbox in the nvidia settings checked when I start the game, (even if I never hit cntrl-T to turn on the stereo mode) the "Out of Memory" message happens (whenever the screen switches from the garage to the battlefield). Also on some maps especially, the frame rate (FPS) can get so bad it feels like network lag, sometimes lagging as low as 3 or 4 fps instead of the usually solid 30-50 fps).

Unchecking the "steroscopic 3d suport" checkbox in nvidia settings it seems to fix it. Of course then I can't play with 3D glasses but at least I can play without worse problems.

I'd be interested to know if all you guys here also happen to have have stereoscopic setups and if unchecking the "steroscopic 3d suport" checkbox in the nvidia settings helps you too.

Agreed - someone dropped the ball here.
I installed 275.33, first game of WoT, and I get a big red Out Of Memory across the screen. First match is playable, with some unusual flickering. Second match it completely fails to render most of the scene - ground has no texture.
I had to plug my IR pyramid into a different USB as the new drivers seemed to render it inactive.
Trying 270.61 to see if it works again...

Edit: 270.61 seem to have fixed the issue for me.

No out of memory errors for me, but my display drivers keep crashing when playing WoT. Not sure if it's WoT's fault or Nvidia's. crashes on 270.61 AND 275.33... I'm not using any 3D stuff though.

That's incorrect. Running the game with stereo disabled in the control panel via the checkbox (such that it can't be enabled with Ctrl+T in game) is ***not*** the same as running with Stereo enabled in the control panel checkbox but set such that it looks 2D (but can still be flipped to stereo with ctrl+t).

When you run with stereo enabled, it is *always* enabled. If that checkbox is enabled and you hit ctrl+t to go back to a 2d image, rendering is still going through the stereo driver for rendering... it's just that it's not rendering from left and right eye, and instead does the default centered camera position.

Because of this, bugs may be different between those cases.

Can you try actually fully disabling stereo in the control panel and see if your red text goes away? (Uncheck the checkbox for enabling Stereo in the NVIDIA control panel)

I have the same problem with the game Oblivion.

Enabling the checkbox in the control panel makes and "Out of memory" error appear, even if I'm playing in 2D.
When I disable the checkbox, the warning message doesn't appear.

I'm also using driver version 275.33 with a GTX 550 Ti (1 GB).
My pc has 4GB of RAM and is running 32-bit Win 7.

Yes i get the same out of memory error in oblivion as well. this was also a problem in the 275.27 beta driver /crying.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':'(' />
all drivers 270.xx and past have had bugginess in 3d I'm still having to revert to 266.58 after all this time.
I sent information about my problem to nvidia but they said they could'nt reproduce the issue but as i can see its not just me facing this problem and its not just oblivion that is exhibiting it, hopefully nvidia will give it another look because problems with 3d vision like this have been apparent ever since the 270 branch

Confirmed - the narrative on my ticket reads: "Thank you for your bug submission. We've received reports of this problem from other users and have replicated the failure in-house. Our engineering team is currently investigating the problem and hope to have this fix in a future driver release. In the meantime please revert back to the 270.61 driver, at least until we can get this fixed. I'll notify you as soon as we have a driver release with the fix."
