Nvidia, tell me, are you going to let 3d Vision die?
  4 / 4
Yeah, that's true - 3D Vision always had too sux marketing. Honestly, it's just was no any advertisement almost at all. Some Nvidia stuff like PhysX or even such sh1t like Shield had much and much and much more advert.

E3 is next week - I hope NVIDIA plans to demo 3D Vision (see https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/833378/3d-vision/nvidia-tell-me-are-you-going-to-let-3d-vision-die-/post/4535601/#4535601)! bo3b, were you able to talk to your NVIDIA contacts about this? With the introduction of AMD Fury X next week (and its comparable Titan X 4K performance, with much more aggressive pricing), the great 3D Vision modding support community is providing a UNIQUE discriminator for NVIDIA - versus AMD! Early E3 topic is Oculus Rift. For example, see http://www.gamespot.com/articles/e3-begins-today-with-oculus-briefing-watch-it-righ/1100-6428004/). Interesting to see MS connection and the new hand held input devices.

I'm not sure how I missed Bob's numbers before. Probably because the thread took an unpleasant turn and I just thought it wasn't worth returning too. I'm actually surprised the numbers are as high as that. I've pimped Helix's site to a bunch of different places. Repeatedly. Honestly, my biggest concern regarding the OP is that drivers seem to be taking a really unpleasant detour of late. So what happens when the new Pascal cards come out and rolling back to older drivers isn't an option. That's the biggest issue I have.

Well I'm the new one thinking 3D is dead, kinda like Zappologist. It seemed strange to me that witcher was not supported out of the box. So that's how I got here. I bought my new monitor and 3d vision 2 this week, and I should get it tonight. I wanted to buy the 3D vision for years. But I don't watch a lot of movies, and I don't game that much either. No FPS, only RPGs. But some RPGs are well done in 3D, and I bought Witcher 3 this weekend, and it made me wanna buy 3D vision. First thing, as things are as a few people have said, the masses won't buy this. Tweaking is for nerds or something like that. I'm one, so don't feel insulted. accessibility is king in gaming, and having to tweak values in text files or even in the nvidia configuration panel... You shouldn't ask too much of most people. Until we have a way of applying the modifications via a user interface, I don't think anything will change. I suppose it would be complicated to create kind of a wrapper for all the fixes you do on this website, with the solutions for SLI or 3D surround or basic 3D solutions. If I like my experience with witcher in 3D maybe I'll get back to this later, I'm a programmer so I guess I could help with something like this. Maybe having a well done interface to apply the fixes would make it more acceptable for Nvidia to add a link to it in 3D vision. I don't think they would add a link to this forum as it is technical knowledge, and probably too complicated for most users.

Hi Kazuma, some coments: 1. Even if a user interface would be designed, to handle fixes more or less unatended, it would still not be good enough for the "masses", as you put it. Something like the WideScreenFix GUI for example, handles screen fixes for many games and is very user friendly, but in today's society even using that is considered being a geek/nerd. 2. Most of the fixes on the Helixblog don't involve anything else than identifying the game folder where the .exe is and dropping the fix files in there. Anyway, 3D Vision is what it is, mostly ignored by the industry, kept alive by an incredibly talented and kind-hearted community, and in general one of the most niche products one could imagine. In stark contrast with the degree of excitement and satisfaction it brings, for whoever is curious enough to explore it. I'm almost sure the same will happen with VR unfortunately, which will prove to be too niche to help 3D Vision by a revival of interest in stereoscopy. One could argue that putting a headset on your face and sweating like a pig while strangulating yourself with a couple of cords, to finally bleed out from a head contact with the corner of your desk is eve more of a geeky endeavour than editing a couple of text files. Anyway, welcome to the club! 3D Vision is awesome, and you'll probably be set for games for the foreseeble future, if you're brave enough to play through everything from Helixblog.

Thanks for the info Zappo :) 1) Might be right on that one. Anything more than launch the game and play might be too much unfortunately. 2) Well seems my big idea is not really that big of an idea. Even made a post about it, but if it is a glorified copy tool, it's not that interesting... I was also thinking about nvidia configuration, but there is already the geforce experience tool. I wonder if you can create GFE profiles yourself to distribute? Otherwise, is it possible to add changes to a .reg file to tweak the nvidia card configuration? Anyway, too bad for the masses, I'm pretty sure I'll enjoy my new toy anyway :)

Good news, a fix for Witcher 3 is in the works, and is coming along extremely well. Once complete, you'll just need to extract a zip file to the game directory. Simple!

Think I'm finally gonna say goodbye to 3D now. Trying to play two games today GTA5 and Far Cry 4 is impossible due to crashes and broken effects even with fixes in place and profiles changed. It's a shame because I loved it, but I'm tired of all the messing about. I think I've finally got to the point where I would just prefer to play the game straight in 4k with no messing about. I'm pretty certain it's mostly to do with NVidia drivers, but when a game like GTA5 is supposed to have proper support and its still a broken mess, its not worth my time and frustration to keep banging my head against a brick wall until it all magically gets fixed.

You may have the expectation that this should work when shipped, but the reality is that no one ever finishes their software today. This is why I strongly encourage 3D people in particular to not be on the early release cycle. In 6 months all the driver and game glitches are fixed. If you have patience, you'll have a great experience. If you don't want to wait, the absolute best experience is going to be on consoles. That is the target market where they put 99% of their effort, and it's going to run smoothest, have fewest glitches there. Once you move even to PC gaming itself, you are going to have occasional problems. Same goes for hardware upgrades- if you buy on day 1, you lock yourself into whatever the driver clowns are up to this week. It's supposed to be viable on day 1, but we all know it just isn't, not even in 2D. Patience wins you cheaper games, and a better experience. Not saying it's for everyone, but it's worth considering.

DO you really think 3D could die ?! What is VR ? It is 3D plus headtracking and gyroscope. I watched the GTX1080 presentation and as it seems Nvidia is putting great effort and hopes in VR thus one of their "4 marvels" ist VR works with Singlepass Stereo and Multi Viewpoints... I say: if a game supports VR it technically supports 3d Vision too.

I have no clue why there is a strong push now for VR games, yet 3D Vision support is neglected. If 3D Vision sold badly, why would VR sell well? I wonder how many people never played a game in stereo 3D, yet order a VR system (without first trying it) and assume it will be great for gaming.

Why!? Are you kidding? See this NSFW video? https://youtu.be/bwLUHEG4oNs Show me anything using 3D Vision that's even close. I've been using 3D Vision for years. It's great stuff and really deserved to be far more popular than it was. Standing on the edge of a cliff with the glasses on can even give a sense of vertigo if it's done really well. But screaming? No chance. It's all locked in front of you in a small area. When you try to look down over that cliff, you see your keyboard. My barely-educated guess is that the big reason 3D Vision didn't sell was bad 3D movies. After Avatar, there was a huge wave of hacked-in 3D movies that really didn't work well at all. People decided that 3D wasn't all that great once the "new" wore off and 3D Vision got lumped in right along side the movies. Now I'm hoping we get our "revenge" by getting 3D Vision (or something like it) working on virtual monitor software used in VR headsets. People will finally get to see what we've been seeing all these years. My "I told you so"'s shall be mighty indeed! :)

The very powerful and the very stupid have one thing in common. Instead of altering their views to fit the facts, they alter the facts to fit their views ... which can be very uncomfortable if you happen to be one of the facts that needs altering.
