I'm using a Dell workstation instead of a laptop but I still wanted to voice my interest in a DP-DVI Dual Link adapter.
1) Interested in a DisplayPort to Dual-Link adapter (yes/no)
Definitley "Yes!" for the same reason as imarun in Post #2. Since a getting a larger image via a 3DTV or 3D Projector does not seem to be an option, we need to hook up two Acer stereo monitors to a single videocard to display our quad-buffered stereo program to a group. As a result, we have to use an older FX 3700 as the newer Quadros are limited to one DVI port. This adapter would let us use workstations with Quadro 4000s.
2) Are you interested mainly for 3D movies/3D games/3D photos?
Quad-buffered apps only.
You mention that "Currently, in order to use the NVIDIA 3D Vision kit with a 3D Vision certified PC monitor, you need to connect the monitor to the graphics card native DVI port using a dual-link DVI adapter" - does this mean that current DisplayPort-DVI-D Dual Link adapters such as this one by Dell will not work with 3D Vision? Thanks,

Using 3D Vision & Quadro 4000 for GIS apps on 64-bit Windows 7/Dell T7500 Workstation
I have a PNY Quadro 4000 which has 2 displayports and 1 DVI-D ports. I can drive my Alienware 23" at 1920x1080@120Hz and HP 3065@60Hz. This needs a DisplayPort to Dual-Link adapter. These are requjired to be powered by USB, so the Dell one you showed should be fine.
The 3D vision only has to do with driving the screen fast enough, hence, DVI-D is needed to drive a display @120Hz. I'm not sure 3D at <60Hz is worth it...!
This card came with an "active single link" connector, by Nvidia - but it is only DVI-I internally. This is a bit cheap of them, as quadro is supposed to support 3D vision pro (under Linux), and there is not much use for this with a 3D setup.
I am using this setup for 3D protein/molecullar modelling , so that is quad-buffered apps too.

Thanks for the reply, PHiL. Just to be sure, are you driving your Alienware monitor at 120Hz via the Quadro 4000's DVI output using the USB-powered DisplayPort to DVI adapter? If so, this would be the first confirmation I've seen that the DisplayPort actaully passes the 120Hz signal to the monitor. I do not have one of these adapters on-hand but if it enables 3D Vision I will buy one this week! And another when Nvidia comes out with their own.

Hello all. We are exploring customer interest in a DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI adapter that is certified for use with NVIDIA's 3D Vision kit. Currently, in order to use the NVIDIA 3D Vision kit with a 3D Vision certified PC monitor, you need to connect the monitor to the graphics card native DVI port using a dual-link DVI adapter. This poses a problem for laptop users as most newer mid to high end laptops ship with a DisplayPort connector and therefore you can not use an external 3D Vision certified monitor with these laptops. Please comment here and answer the following questions:
1) Interested in a DisplayPort to Dual-Link adapter (yes/no)
2) Are you interested mainly for 3D movies/3D games/3D photos?
3) Which laptop make and model do you own?
4) Which NVIDIA GPU is in your laptop?
Thank you all for your time.

Not true at all. I bought the Apple Mini-DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI adapter and it works GREAT for NVIDIA 3D on my laptop
(Also I think you meant to say Mini-DP not DP since most laptops do ship with Mini-DP)
EDIT: FWIW I purchased the adapter at Fry's for $99
1) Already have one, it works
2) Movies/Games
3) Alienware M17x R3
4) I switch between 460M and 485M, works great on both.

Absolutely!!! I have an Asus G60J 3D Notebook with a GeForce GTX 260m and a Samsung SyncMaster 2233 Geforce 3D ready monitor that I have never been able to port 120hz to!!! So I have had to run all 3D exclusively on my notebook screen as the HDMI port will not send 120hz to the the Dual link DVI! A whole year I have tried everything humanly possible and nothing! This would indeed be a great thing you guys could do for me!!!I want to view my 3D motion graphics on my external monitor and maybe even watch a movie in something a little bigger than my 1366 x 768 screen!!
Also I can't get the nvidia 3D vision site to work on my computer with all the proper updates!!! This is even more frustrating,...but that is another story isn't it?

As a remark at what i posted at that topic 1080p 60Hz 3D won't work on nearly any laptop or most desktops as they don't have Display Port 1.2 (Nvidia or AMD < 6000 Series) or enough RAM (well, desktop Radeon HD 6990 has enough VRAM)? i believe there won't be much more frames than HDMI 1.4a? http://3dvision-blog.com/tag/dual-link-dvi/ meaning "720p 50/60Hz 3D mode and the 1080p 24Hz 3D", or am i wrong at some point?

Has anyone had a chance to use the BizLink DP-to-DL DVI adapter (link, and currently unavailable) with either a desktop or laptop? I have colleague that needs to work at home for awhile and I need to get her either a 3D-ready quad-buffering laptop (impossible) or one that can at least port a 120Hz signal to an external 3D monitor. We have a Dell Precision M4600 with a Quadro 2000M card and the docking station's DVI out only passes 60Hz. It has outputs for both DP and HDMI so I was hoping the BizLink could do the trick.
Boy, I totally agree with GPLavoie. Why can't someone give you the option of putting a Quadro card in a 120hz-capable laptop for business apps?

2) Movies/Games
3) Alienware M17x R3
4) I switch between 460M and 485M, works great on both.

This would indeed be a great thing you guys could do for me!!!I want to view my 3D motion graphics on my external monitor and maybe even watch a movie in something a little bigger than my 1366 x 768 screen!!

Why did you disable this? It worked fine until the latest drivers.

Why did we disable what?

Not true at all. I bought the Apple Mini-DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI adapter and it works GREAT for NVIDIA 3D on my laptop
(Also I think you meant to say Mini-DP not DP since most laptops do ship with Mini-DP)
EDIT: FWIW I purchased the adapter at Fry's for $99
1) Already have one, it works
2) Movies/Games
3) Alienware M17x R3
4) I switch between 460M and 485M, works great on both.

Hi, how you managed that? when I do exactly what you describe, I cannot run 3d in full hd... i cannot even see stereoscopic menu item in nvidia CP... I have LG 3d vision ready monitor that accepts only DVI, and my Dell has only miniDP, so I bought that expensive reduction form apple and it does not work

2) Interested in 3D visualisation and Quad buffered openGL stereoscopic support....
3) nothing exists yet... for me. (Dell XPS 17 3D, or Dell Precision, or a hybrid of the two)
4) NVIDIA Quadro (2800m, 3800m, 3000m, 5000m...)
There needs to be a laptop with a 17" screen that includes a Quadro card, so as to use the laptop screen for 3D as well.
I think there are many who would agree that this would solve a huge problem for the GIS, AutoCAD industry.
Still waiting. I have a feeling that I'll end up retiring before it happens.

Boy, I totally agree with GPLavoie. Why can't someone give you the option of putting a Quadro card in a 120hz-capable laptop for business apps?
