Advice: help me make Crysis 2 'Excellent' tweak my config settings!
The 3D rating is Excellent
But without the config tweaks, 3D (even maxed out) is barely present, with the config tweaks you get halo glitches around all objects, not just the gun.
nVidia rating Crysis 2 as Excellent - how did they do it?

Please tweak me
r_StereoDevice = 3
r_StereoMode = 1
r_StereoStrength = 3

r_StereoEyeDist = .08
The above was the best I could manage with my monitor size. Any tips gratefully received. :)

Cor blimey governor! It worked! There's even popout!
Slight change though: r_DrawNearFoV = 2
This removes your gun and your legs from view but you get used to it really quickly. Also raising your gun sights works perfectly and naturally.
Brilliant Chiri!

Well its been a long time since i played Crysis 2 in 3D. I thought Convergence was locked in that game ?
When i tried playing it in 3D on release the 3D was "meh" and no debht at all ....
Can i change convergence in game via 3DVision hotkeys or must i do it in the console ?
Locked during game it is, and the thing is: most stereo settings can only be set once at start-up of the game using config files. So no hot-keys and no console.
set convergence using "r_StereoScreenDist" in config file, separation is "r_StereoStrength"
I switched to the internal 3D SBS mode of the game to overcome 3DTVPlay limitations but still have to use the alt-tab trick to set max screen refresh rate.

Seriously consider the r_DrawNearFoV = 2 otherwise the gun looks out of place. You will need to copy and paste this into the console via '¬' as it resets as Chiri mentioned.
YOU WILL LOOSE YOUR GUN AND LEGS but raising the gun sights works perfectly. It forces you to raise your gun sights, only shooting from the hip in desperate moments. I tend to play that way anyway so I am used to this style of play. Really cool.
You also loose your hand when changing suit modules but no biggy there!
Crysis 2's 3D is very much 2.5D; it seems to use illusions similar to how the Doom games and Duke Nukem 3D rendered 3D in the past. I wouldnt try to increase the depth further than an absolute tops of 0.03 using the r_StereoEyeDist. I use 0.02 or 0.025. Any higher and you see all the smoke and mirrors. I am a 100% depth gamer and this is playable enough for me.

feels like 25% depth instead of vanilla 10% now. r_StereoEyeDist appears to control the depth but you see more anomolies the higher it goes. 0.08 feels like 100% depth but is unplayable. 0.02 is nice but cutscenes and looking through things like trolleys are buggy. 0.01 is OK.
I just added it to the existing system.cfg file in the root directory: D:\Origin\Crysis 2 --> system.cfg
r_StereoScreenDist = 1.5
r_StereoStrength = 2
r_DrawNearFoV = 2
r_NoDrawNear = 1
r_StereoEyeDist = .01
I am still tweaking...

Huh? Crysis 2 totally rocks in 3D! Well, it has some z-buffer issues but on full convergence it's my favorite FPS concerning immersion.
Here are my settings for a perfect 5m cinema screen setup
r_StereoScreenDist = 3.2
r_StereoStrength = 1.0
r_NoDrawNear = 1
r_VSync = 1
r_DrawNearFoV = -1
the r_DrawNearFoV setting is frequently reset on level changes, so just set it again using system console to get your gun out of your face.

Crysis 2's 3D is very much 2.5D; it seems to use illusions similar to how the Doom games and Duke Nukem 3D rendered 3D in the past. With the abovementioned tweaks I think Crysis 2 has gone from waste of money to very playable in 3D :)
It defo looks better when you play it.
EDIT
You may want to turn the 3D off during cutscenes or at the very begining. Any very close object shows the smoke and mirror effects.

@ The Sleeper
I have a 23" screen. These are my settings in the cfg file.
r_StereoScreenDist = 2.5
r_StereoStrength = 2.0
r_NoDrawNear = 1
r_DrawNearFoV = 2

Should this be added to the CFG located in C:/users/xxxxx/saved games ? or should make a new one ?

r_StereoScreenDist = 1.5
r_StereoStrength = 2
r_DrawNearFoV = 2
r_NoDrawNear = 1
r_StereoEyeDist = .01
I am still tweaking...
feels like 25% depth instead of vanilla 10% now. r_StereoEyeDist appears to control the depth but you see more anomolies the higher it goes. 0.08 feels like 100% depth but is unplayable. 0.02 is nice but cutscenes and looking through things like trolleys are buggy. 0.01 is OK.

Lord, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.
