fps= frames per second. The amount of frames your cpu/gpu is able to process. 3d vision does NOT rely on framerate. What it does rely on is REFRESH RATE of the monitor which needs to redraw 120hz, ie. 120 times per second. 30fps-- your monitor is still drawing 120hz. 200fps-- your monitor will still only draw 120hz, and when a framerate is faster than a monitors refresh rate you get screen tearing which is why games have a vsync option.
So to answer your question, you'd have a great 3d experience with your monitor refreshing at a flicker free 60hz per eye, with your game running 90fps/2= 45fps. A very playable, and enjoyable 3d framerate. :)
