Any projectors do 60Hz 1080p s3d?
Wait a minute. Wait a minute. Look what I found. from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HDMI HDMI 1.4b was released on October 11, 2011.[154] One of the new features is that it adds support to 3D 1080p video at 120 Hz -allowing frame packing 3D format at 1080p60 per Eye (120 Hz total) .[155] All future versions of the HDMI specification will be made by the HDMI Forum that was created on October 25, 2011 So all this time the option has been there over hdmi, since 2011. Why does everyone always talk about hdmi 1.4a? It's hdmi 1.4b that everyone is looking for to do 3d. I had never even heard of 1.4b. Time to look for a projector.
Yep, it's had a spec for awhile. The problem is that the consumer electronics people think that 3D means one and only one thing- 3D Blu Ray. That's it. Since they had 1080@24, they figured they were done, since no BluRay runs at anything different. They don't have a lot of imagination, or perhaps don't care about markets smaller than $100M. This next year may be slightly different, because of the push for 4K screens. It's not something anyone really seems to care much about, but they need to find some new way to sell stuff. If they push that, then we naturally and accidentally get enough bandwidth for 1080p@120Hz. So there is potential this year at least.

This projector has a displayport cable, does it not? Why wouldn't it work @ 1080p 60hz after applying an EDID override from a VG248qe?

hi, It's possible with 2 projectors 1080p (not necessary 3d) and omega 3d filters and geobox. geobox work at 1080p 120hz 3d vision (with edid overide)and give 1080p60x2 ! it works perfectly, with this you have the better 3d i have seen .(no ghosting, bright for big screen...) just 2 projectors but lowcost are ok dlp or lcd ! it's passive 3d system, without geobox and with ati card it's possible with tridef !

Aye, with a recent firmware update the Geobox 501 is reported to support a 120Hz input signal that it then demuxes into 2 seperate left and right output signals for use with a passive 3D filter system such as Omega 3D. The Omega 3D filters are described as a type of super-anaglyph technolgy with superb extinction. (close to zero ghosting) The benefit of the Omega filters is that any projection surface can be used, wheras polar or linear filters require a reflective Silverscreen. @cerealkil I had been following that thread for awhile and was happy to see your post stating it was working with 3D Vision. http://www.avsforum.com/t/1407101/official-omega-3d-passive-projection-system-thread/540#post_24370229 What input connection input is being used on the Geobox? What format is being output by the GPU? What projectors are you using?

i use displayport but i try dvi-d and it works as well. output gpu is 1080p 120hz(gtx780), i use edid of benq lcd 3dvision i use 2 sony hw50. i will do a complete review in a french forum...next week. all my games are ok with the gtx780 at 1080p 120hz at that time no need sli 780 or single gtx 780 ti !

This is indeed great news! Once you have finished your review please post a link here. The only other member here that was using the Omega was Jamir as far as I know. Last I knew, he was still attempting unsuccessfully to make it work without the Geobox being used. Can you tell us how much you paid for the Geobox? Did you purchase it directly from VNS?

I would also be very interested in the dual projector solution. Has anyone tried to buy a Geobox 501 yet? How expensive are those things? The Omega 3D filter I found on ebay and I think they are affordable compared to other stuff out there, especially if they deliver such good results as advertised.

I've been waiting for a consumer 1080p projector that can do 1080p 3D at 60Hz for years, and I'm still waiting. In the meantime, my most recent purchase does a good enough job - the Panasonic AE8000. It only does 3D at 720p at 60Hz, but with enough supersampling anti-aliasing and downsampling, I often can't tell the diff between 720p and 1080p. Battlefield 4 in particular looks fantastic - I honestly couldn't pick the lower resolution. However, this level of image improvement requires powerful graphics performance, which is why I run dual GTX 780 Tis in SLI mode, along with an i7 4770K overclocked to 4.5GHz. Note that my screen is only around 125 inches though, and I sit about 2.5 metres back from it. Any larger and the pixel diff would probably become more noticeable. As soon as affordable 1080p 3D projectors at 60hz come out, I will upgrade. As for 4K, I think we'll be waiting at least five to ten years before these drop to the same price of today's 1080p projectors that can only do 720p 3D.

It's been almost a year since this was posted but since people will find this when searching for 3D projectors (just like I found it) I'll update the info and say that there are now 3D projectors supporting 1080p. If you look at the spec sheets for the Optimas you'll see they support 1080p @ 60Hz. If you then read the docs they say they up-convert the 60Hz signal to 120Hz so they're still not accepting a 1080p @ 120Hz signal but are doing some processing to fake it. At this exact moment the Optima HD26 is going for $700 on Amazon. http://www.optomausa.com/projectordetailshe.aspx?PTypedb=Home%20Entertainment&PC=HD26

Doesn't matter, because 3D TV Play won't output a 1080p 60hz signal.
