1920x1080 Checkerboard Support with 3DTVPlay (HDMI 1.4)
1 / 2
JonB,
Are you going to fix the 3D Vision drivers so that HDTVs with HDMI1.4 can access 1920x1080 checkerboard mode? Currently the Setup prog forces ugly 720P res if HDMI1.4 is detected. This was an arbitrary, ill-advised decision, not based on any technical necessity, so we want it fixed. Please let us know the status and schedule for release.

You Andrew said about 6 months ago that checkerboard would be scheduled to up coming nvidia drivers, I guess that's not going to happen right? Not in Nvidia's interest I guess. You guys really think we're happy with 720p60hz, cause this full resolution per eye thing is BS...., we all know that side-by-side and checkerboard offers similar quality at 1080p60hz, it's really hard to see any detail difference compared to frame Packing 1080p, but with SBS and CB we play at 1080p60hz, not laggy and unplayable 24hz. Just give us the option, that's all we ask, give us Side-by-side or checkerboard mode, all we want is to play games in 1080p60hz, we don't really care about having to use our remote control to enable a 3D mode or if it's not full resolution per eye, what matters is native resolution + 60fps, that's all it matters for gaming.
You guys are really not listening to us, while Tridef is giving your clients this choice, you should follow this path, cause it's going to take time til HDMI 1.5 and FP 1080p60hz is released.

mmmh looking for future support i guess side-by-side better than checkerboard which is not used anymore in the new brand 3dtv, you can also add in the "todo" list the freedom to configure the driver, for example to use frame packing in the resolution/hz we set and not be restricted to 720p60hz or 1080p24hz ( dunno if this can be done).
In other words more freedom and options to the user and less autopilot of the driver.

we are listening, its on our roadmap, and yes its taking longer than we expected to release it.
I'm hopefully in the new few weeks I will have a better schedule for when we can add it.

You're allowing yourselves an unknown number of weeks just to put something on a schedule to happen in the far future? Seems to me like you're just stringing people along. What you're saying is it might be put in the driver sometime after hell has frozen over; certainly way too far in the future for checkerboard to still be useful I hope, more likely that we have full 1080p or even higher 3d hardware as standard by then. But anyway, about schedules, can you give any schedule about what you actually ARE putting in the driver? I see hardly any evidence that there is more being done than 1 person spending some of his free time tinkering with the driver every once in a while.

It's nice to see you acknowledge that, the real issue for me was the 3d vision ready logo (note the ready part) and you said nvidia had worked with CD Poject RED to ensure it would look great and that it would work within a few days of release after nvidia released there latest driver for it (keyword is ensure).
Trust me I followed the situation but by the time it was playable I had finished the game twice, and am likely done with it so the 3d support that was advertised and promised is more or less useless at this point for me. This all to often is the issue and why I doubt i'll support nvidia in the future unless they can get there act together and not promise things when they can't deliver.

The Witcher 2 3D Vision issues were game issues and fixed in game patches. If you followed the situation, you would see the issues were addressed in patches released by the game developer. Trust me, I was as frustrated with the situation as you.
I have provided a lot of great information, I apologize that this support for checkerboard support is taking longer than expected.
It's nice to see you acknowledge that, the real issue for me was the 3d vision ready logo (note the ready part) and you said nvidia had worked with CD Poject RED to ensure it would look great and that it would work within a few days of release after nvidia released there latest driver for it (keyword is ensure).
