Good for you, if things are working good for you. As for me, I am going to wait few more months till every unit out is fixed and safe to buy or maybe, we might see something better by then. It's no biggie to wait 3-4 months for me since acer hn274h already great monitor. Asus vg278h is obviously better since it has lightboost technology but difference is barely noticeable and ghostings are still there. Even though asus says we won't have any ghosting with their 3rd generation ghostbusting technology but ghosting I saw from asus vg278h is just about same as acer hn274h. I am willing to wait 6 months or even longer for something better. :(

I needed something now, given I was still working my old 'backup for emergency only' Gateway that feels like it has a 4 year refresh lol. I returned the Asus and bought a Samsung S27A950D. My priorities are 2D and the Samsung blows the Asus away. No 3D vision 2, but Nvidia loses a sale there from me since Asus dropped the ball so bad on this one.

It's official! Mine is broken too! Not only that but Newegg wants 105 dollar restocking fee for this POS. I am posting this to warn people like me who think you know better than everyone else. Don't buy this monitor.

OK, thats enough for me. Not ordering until the 1egg/1stars go away permanently. Thats a high risk for a $700 3D LED LCD. I thought it was bad out of the box, but hearing more that it happens over time as well is depressing.

Thank God I've been waiting for cheaper 23" models. Never been a fan of the price/screen size ratio for 3D displays, so I always wait for the smaller sizes.

It sucks some many people are having problems with this monitor. I have had mine going on five weeks now and there are no issues that I can see so far.
Does anyone else out there have a working unit that is at least a couple weeks old?

Shouldn't that be a clear warranty case? How can they ask for a restocking fee?

In cases like this they'll restock the monitor to send it to some other customer. They'll keep doing this until someone keeps it. In their opinion there's probably nothing wrong with the product since it still works. Most often if you want to return a product (ie regretting the buy) they charge you shipment and handling of the product. 105$ seems a little rough though.
Siberian_Khatru: I suppouse you wanted to return the monitor since they charge you a restocking fee. I advice you to keep pushing for a warrantyissue. I don't know about other countries but here (sweden) a warrantyissue will enable you to get a new monitor without any additional costs. Keep doing this until you get a faultyfree monitor or the warrantytime has ended and never buy from them again.
If you regret the buy and want to return it it's another issue. You will probably also be charged the restocking fee. I don't know if these "general" rules apply in all countries.

The $105 is just their standard 15% applied to the $700 balance of the monitor.
He probably got hit with the restocking fee because he wanted his money back rather than risking a replacement that exhibited these issues. Newegg does differentiate their return policy now and in general what you will find is they either lock you in to a sale with "Replacement Only" terms or "Refund with restocking fee" terms. This way, they don't take a hit and get nothing back in return.
I would be shocked if Newegg asked for restocking fee for simply replacing a clearly defective monitor like the ones shown here.
Still, I've always been wary of buying monitors from Newegg for these kind of fine print issues, whether its return policy or dead-pixel policy. They do a great job of getting you the sale and getting the monitor on your doorstep with fast, free shipping but if a problem arises, its a lot harder to get them to take it back. For anyone who's had problems with monitors in the past, the premium charged by a big box store or even Dell is worth it for the peace of mind.

I am also waiting for a good product. I am lucky enough to have a beautiful Acer 27 inch 3D monitor Vision 1. It's always been dark at times with the 3D glasses, I do adjust it sometimes.
When I heard about 3D Vision 2 I got really excited and thought about trying to find the money for one, but then I started hearing about the oval circle problem. Wow, that would frustrate me alot.
I decided to forget about it and from time to time visit forums like this to see the latest buzz.
GOOD NEWS: Many of you may have heard that Acer had developed a NEW 27 inch 3D Vision 2 monitor. It's on sale on Germany's Amazon web site, but since I do not live there I can not even consider it. Maybe by the time it reaches the USA ASUS will have a fix out for their NEW 27 inch 3D Vision 2 monitor.
For the folks that bought the new ASUS and DO NOT have problems with it? YOUR VERY LUCKY!!! TO the other folks? Patients is the word for the day, and hang in there I KNOW ASUS is scrambling to fix their new monitor because they are losing money by the minute. The person I replied to on this forum and myself may have purchased one if not for the problems being talked about.

I don't like Acer so much because of the abolsutely incredible time these monitors need to turn on after the signal is available.
That makes it very hard to read any POST messages.
I don't really think that the problem people are having with Asus monitors is exclusive to that brand. The panel is very likely the same for all 27" 120 HZ monitors anyway, and even the backlight might come from the same source. There are not so many manufacturors of these things.
In Germany it's still very hard to get the Asus monitor. I'm still waiting for mine, even though I ordered it more than 6 weeks ago. I will check it out, if it's not ok, it will go back to the dealer. But it has to show deficiencies during normal use, and not when using extreme measures with the goal to find some flaw.

I don't think there is anything wrong with the VG278H. Probably the $700 price it has makes some people expect from it to display a very accurate image with little to no glitches, as if it was some sort of an 120Hz IPS. These are TN displays and their high price doesn't change that.

A 27" TN monitor + 3DVision2... do the calculations yourself. You don't get much cheaper, if you buy this separately. And you're save from having sync problems (which can always happen with the separate emitter). For me it's worth the deal.
