ROG SWIFT PG278Q Review!

I have just bought two titan blacks in sli now I should have no more worries about running out of vram lol instead just a nice hole in my bank account. Got to get rid of my 780ti's now. Will definitely be keen to get this monitor but I think its gonna be a little while yet before it hits the shelves in my country. Im still interested to see what the 3d is like on it, I have noticed no reviews have tried 3d or even really mentioned it. Only thing im worried about is ghosting but I cant see it being to much of an issue
I think you are going to be happier with SLI Blacks for this 1440p monitor in 3D. SLI 780ti is no slouch, but for this bad mutha it's gonna take the best in the world. It's less valuable for Watch Dogs, although should do nicely there as well. Watch Dogs doesn't really beat down the GPU computing part, even a single GTX 760 can run it nicely, but that VRAM will definitely help. I think I might now be seeing what you see with your 780ti's, where you get weird stutter occasionally. I'm using a 1080p monitor for the first time in a long time, and I also let the game update to the latest version. Previously I forced no updates because I don't like games breaking stuff that is working. With that combo, I'm seeing some stutter, even if I turn down some settings and see it using only 2.7G out of 4G on the card. Looks like Ubisoft might have broken something. I'll experiment more and report back.
Yea I have tried everything with my 780ti's even if the vram is kept in check the problem is sill there. I cant play it how it is and wont be until I figure out what is wrong. There is no bottleneck anywhere else in my system the game is on an ssd and I have a 4930k cpu and 32gb ram. Im keen to play it but I can wait until there is a patch or something that fixes it. I have been playing assassins creed black flag a lot. That 3d fix that you guys put together is awesome had a great time playing it so far. It has run perfect on windows 8.1 too zero issues and great game first time I have ever given assassins creed a go.

Anyone hear if this monitor works will with a 1080p source off an active converter? I primarily game on PC, but I do play on my PS4 occasionally too; likely a lot more once Destiny drops. If I could run my PS4 effectively on this, I'd replace my ASUS MX279H with it as my secondary/travel monitor (I'm still using an FW900 as my primary and that's not going to change until OLED hits).

Reminder to NVIDIA: We need a Shield Portable 2!

I have had a play with my titan blacks in sli now and can say they do help in watch dogs a bit but they do not get rid of the stutter completely. Watch dogs does have something wrong with it. I hate to say it but ubisoft games are a pile of horse shit performance wise im talking. The games have great stories and gameplay but their performance is very poor. Overall tho the blacks seemer smoother in most games apart from the ubisoft ones. I can see that the vram helps quite a lot. watchdogs maxed out sits at about 4gb vram. On the upside tho I got some awesome overclocks on the titan blacks. 1250mhz on the cores and 500mhz on the memory using skyn3t bios too. They are running 1250mhz solid temps not exceeding 83. Best cards I have had without a doubt just the price you pay for 3gb extra vram sucks lol

Does this monitor come out any time soon? It seems to have went from June to July to September.

Just as a heads up to those with 1080p 3D monitors. You can use GeDoSaTo to render at 1440p (or any resolution actually, including 4K) and play in 3D at those resolutions on your monitor. This of course is not identical to an actual 1440p monitor, but by rendering in 3D at those higher resolutions, you can clean up a lot of the aliasing which is usually present and have a very visually stunning, aliasing and shimmer free, highly detailed 3D experience. Anyone playing games in 3D should absolutely give it a shot. It doesn't work for EVERYTHING (currently it's DX9 games only with great, but not perfect compatibility) but when it does work, it's glorious. You can find a compatibility list here but it's not unlikely that stuff can be out of date. So if you see something reported as working perfectly, it probably works perfectly. If you see something reported as not perfect, it may still be broken, or recent releases may have solved the issues. It's still under development by Durante and it gets better with every release. He's working on DX11 integration now.

I've been looking into this GedoSato thing, and it is kinda confusing on how to set it up, was trying to get it to work with dead space.

Example: if the executable is "DSpace.exe" you would add "DSpace" to the whitelist. Set the render resolution to whatever resolution you want to downsample from. A common example is 3840x2160 Then set the present resolution to your monitors actual resolution. Possible 1920x1080 but it could be different, you would know better than I would. Make sure GeDoSaTo is enabled, then launch the game and in game, set the resolution to whatever your render resolution is (this example it is 3840x2160). After that it should be done. That's the basics. It also has a bunch of different functions for adding SweetFx type processing, improving compatability, etc etc.

Also tried Final Fantasy 14(non 3d) , I see on the compatability list it is not working but in the notes says it should be working now but not tested, well I just tested it, and it does work but the mouse position is incorrect and the UI menus are too small even though I changed the size.

Yep im keen as to get my hands on one. Cant wait to check the 3d out at 1440p I cannot believe no reviewers have tried it yet. Does anyone know any review where they have tried this thing out in 3d? To be honest I couldn't care less about gsync maybe that will change when I try it. Lol I may wait a little bit after it gets released. Titan blacks broke the bank for me haha but battlefield 4 runs perfect at 200% resolution scale between 70 and 90fps. They should be good to drive this thing. Another thing I have noticed with having 6gb vram is games seem to be just that little bit more smoother. When I had my 780tis and I was running close to the vram limit there was a slight bit of lag in all games across the board where as the titan blacks don't have this I think partly cause they have twice the vram. Watchdogs full maxed uses around 4.5gb vram. A word of warning tho anyone buying titan blacks for watchdogs it WILL NOT fix stuttering issues. The game runs like shit. Hopefully ubisoft do something about it because at this point I will be very careful buying ubisoft games in the future.

If you're getting this monitor mainly for 3d, don't do it. 3D Vision is dead. http://helixmod.blogspot.com.au/2014/07/decline-of-3d-vision.html

I have just put windows 7 back on my pc and all the stutter in watchdogs is completely gone its butter smooth. Most of my stutter problems at this point looks like it is mainly due to windows 8.1. All the games I have tried so far on windows 7 run loads better.
