3way SLI, 3D Surround, SWTOR - FPS question
So I recently bought three BenQ Xl2420T with the hopes of rocking a really sweet 3D surround setup. However, need some feedback on if my experience is normal or if I am missing some config. My rig is a 2600k@4.6 CPU and 3-way SLI w/ 570 GTX 1.2GB. Here is my issue when testing performance with Star Wars the Old Republic:

With Surround on and "Enable Stereoscopic 3d" unchecked - I get 75-100FPS. Game runs great.

With surround on and "Enable Stereoscopic 3d" checked - I get closer to 35-43FPS. I get this framerate even if Don't hit CTRL+T ingame to turn on 3d.
Can someone help me understand why just checking "Enable Stereoscopic 3d" but not actually turning 3d on in a game is 66-50% performance dip? And would my results be typical?

My VRAM is at about 1050MB per card when in game for SWTOR and all cards show 99% utilization in all cases described above. Am I coming to the conclusion that 5760x1080 gaming in 3d is only a reality with 680 SLI?

Hi,

To put it plain and shortly, that is because of the extra drivers and CALCULATIONS that are loaded/done. You see, the images are rendered twice when 3D Vision is enabled EVEN IF NOT DISPLAYED (3D mode not activated) /wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />) So that is why you see the performance loss. Now If you enabled the 3D mode you will see the same fps nothing more, nothing less;))

Hope that helped,

thanks for the reply, that makes sense. I read that 3 way SLI is not really supported for 3d vision at this point. Is that a true statement? And if so, is it worth waiting for to get a fps boost or am I "stuck" buying 680s to get desirable FPS (60).

It`s not true! I don`t know who spread this wrong information all over the Forum but this is actually misleading. 3-way SLI works perfect on every GPU starting from 400 gen. No drivers issue whatsoever and performance increase is equivalent!

thanks - then that means I currently stuck with 35fps with current hardware unless Bioware or Nvidia work some magic in software.

3-way SLI 3D Surround.
The Witcher 2 - 96% efficiency at every gpu and no PhysX there. Same with Just Cause 2, Hard Reset and Crysis 2. If third gpu doesn`t work then what a hell is he doing at this time with about 90% activity?!

Are you able to disable a card to compare 2-way sli performance to 3-way sli?

Only by knowing if there is a measurable performance difference is there a way to know what the third card is doing.

Thanks to everybody using my assembler it warms my heart.
To have a critical piece of code that everyone can enjoy!
What more can you ask for?

That is what i did with every game. You can easy see how much smoother game become when it switch back to 3-way sli. Frame rate is adequate.
