Hi. I've heard that my favorite game (Alien versus predator 2) has excellent results in 3D but I can't make it play with the 3D vision. Does anybody know what to do ?

It works splendid but you need to dig out your old computer with winxp sp2 or sp3, nvidiacard up to and including 7950 and use the 91.31 drivers+91.31stereodrivers. It supports a lot of configurations but unfortunately not with 3d-vision.

Hmmmm...I'm foreign; I think I didn't undestand you very well. Those drivers you've reported...are they about the game? In fact I have installed windows vista 32 bits and windows 7 64 bits on my computer; the stereoscopic 3D doesn't work very well at Vista and AVP2 doesn't load at W7: so I log in at W7 and play AVP2 from Vista 32 partition using Windows explorer. This modus operandi works with Unreal 2004, but doesn't work with AVP2...Why? Why?

It's because avp2 is only supported by the "old school" nvidia drivers. Old school nvidia drivers do not work with vista, neither win7. I'm sorry but the great stereosupport for all good oldies went out with winxp and the 7900 series of nvidiacards. :(
The drivers i'm talking about is the 91.31 displaydriver from nvidia plus their 91.31 stereodriver. It's no use trying those with newer softwares though (8000 series of cards and higher, winvista etc etc).

Avp2 should earn some memorialpoints. It's one of the alltime best games i've played!

Remember it's an old game but it was quite ahead the time for the moment.
It's good to know there are people who expect from games more than blood, explosions and bang-bang...AVP1 and 2 are remarkable. Buuuttt...

Likay was talking about Nvidia's OLD support for Stereoscopic 3D, not 3D Vision.
Before 3D Vision, they supported 3rd party pairs of shutter glasses and supported older game APIs like Direct X6 and 7. With 3D Vision, it's all narrowed down to the more current Direct X drivers. There are lots of older Direct X and Open GL games that used to work with Nvidia cards, which no longer do thanks to their new locked-down approach to 3D with 3D Vision.
Basically when 3D Vision came out, they intentionally locked out all their old video cards so you had no choice but to buy their latest generation (at the time the 8000 series) and give them more money. There is no other reason that they couldn't just keep the old aspects of the drivers in place and still let you continue with your old 3D setup. Pure shameless moneygrab.
What makes me even more angry is that it there was even LESS reason to drop support for older Direct X APIs as well as Open GL. That doesn't make sense. Having older game support would only have helped increase their 3D Vision buyer base. It's like Nvidia was doing everything in their power to make sure you had to buy the newest GPU to handle only the newest games since older game were cut out of the picture. Like they were removing old game entries that would be easy to run in 3D on an older card.

3D-gaming as phenomena has existed over ten years by now and the feature is really appreciated and missed by those who discovered it. 3d-gaming is not introduced with the nvidias 3d-vision. I agree it's a shame that old games are not supported anymore. My 7900 has died and so my own support for oldies. I'm hunting for a working used one and in my opinion i rather see my 8800 die ten times over than the 7900... :'(
And no: I do not have my 7900 and 8800 in sli since the gpu's and cards needs to match. I use the 7900 for older games and 8800 for newer. My 3d-setups are a dual projector rig and one iz3d 22" display.
For now i'm using a dual boot with either xp-32 alt. win7-32.

Any device that's supported by the old school drivers is fine (i don't have the entire list but anaglyph, dual vga, ddc-vgaglasses like e-d, older type sharp 3d-display, NeurOk 3D (iz3d), planar stereomirror are supported). Due to the usb-emitter 3d-vision isn't supported though. I don't know any hack to get it going either.

3 - The one and only conclusion possible: Nvidia has lied? Isn't it against the law? This is serious in my country: in cases like that people are oblied to refund the cash to the costumers...
