Maybe that Hooking mechanic you recommended in case of Just Cause 3 will work for him.
Game works fine for me. Didn`t have to change anything in the file.

Hmmm... It's working again now, I copied the fix in again, overwriting all, and it works. Well who knows, I spent a good couple of hours and now it goes.
Nothing beats Bethesda games... There is so much to look at and absorb, you really need to walk slowly through rooms or you will miss goodies. So much greatness, I remember when you were a young sweet Daggerfall baby.

Did anybody else have a hell of a time launching this in full screen at ultra specs. I have a crazy work around going right now. Though it still won't let me crank up the settings.

I have tried pretty much every work around on the internet I can find. I have not had a problem like this with a game for a long time.

I have find out what was the problem with the game not triggering 3D. I had it installed on system drive (C:) and as I remember some games had issues with performance before when I had them like that. Everything is alright since I`ve moved it to alternative one. That might help others.

While I'm here, I want to thank again mike_ar69 and DHR for the fantastic fix!!!
I tried Fallout 4 in 3D vision ages ago but left it because the performance was so bad, was just wondering if the patches over the last 8 months or so have optimised the game a bit and made it more playable on a single card (980) setup. Back when I tried it before I stripped all settings to low, disabled God Ray's etc but found it unplayable, especially city areas. Really itching to give it a go now, have held off until all dlc is out, and game made more stable....

No don`t come back. It`s all really, really bad. I can`t stop playing....I mean, can`t stop complaining. Damn - so many hours spend in this game. So bad so addictive.
I`m pretty sure that this game was patched a lot of times after release and I don`t remember anybody complaining about performance anymore on main forum.
Only We can complain because patches messed up 3D fix a little bit but it`s still at great quality if you go past those few issues.
Disable Sun Rays to fix Pit Boy dark screen effect and obviously to manage with sun glow which is broken as hell.
BTW. Far Harbour and Nuka World are packed with content. Theirs worlds are huge and filled up with quests.

apologies for not going through the whole thread, but it it a common issue that Fallout 4 doesn't use all of the GPU and CPU resources available with 3D vision? The busier areas drop to 30fps (well Lexington at this point as not travelled to the other side of the map yet) but my GPU and CPU readings range from 50 to 60 percent use? I have tried a load of tweaking but this happens whether I have ultra settings or not, those areas will always drop. apart from that I am getting pretty decent performance :)

Game was updated a lot of times and run really good right now. I am on 980 and weak CPU and I don`t have any problems. Put this game on SSD that is main step to improve performance, especially in packed areas. Lower down all drawing distance options to minimum in pre-game menu and in game one (don`t remember if they are any different from each other).
Avoid mods if you got performance issues. Try clean version and check your game to compare after changes.
Also try to overclock your CPU because it`s really slow compare to this GPU. You won`t see it on test but it blocks him to hell out.

I blame this overrated company still using an engine from 1997 (and just piling more code and some polish and calling it new.)
I also have a really weird issue where the game will refuse to launch at all unless I hold down the Left mouse button while the game starts.

thanks for the pointers, I did upgrade my CPU a while ago to a i5 6600 and got it overclocked to 4.5ghz. I installed a few mods but disabled them, then minimised everything including draw distance and shadows etc but still get pretty bad drops and stutter in built up areas whatever the setting. I also have the game installed on an SSD.
I was wondering about RAM as well cause heard it could be a bottleneck with this game? i currently have a fairly decent DDR4 2400 set up so don't fancy updating that unless I need to. I don't mind when the frame drops to 40s but the stutter becomes too distracting I think. Might try a fresh install. Thanks

I guess its an opinion but I cant agree they are overrated, Fallout 4 is amazing as a game. But I agree the engine is pants, the optimisation is terrible. but cant this be said for most newer titles? It doesnt seem to matter what card you get, if the game isnt optimised its useless, which I am finding a lot, especially when playing in 3D, yeah twice the power is used but its not drawing on the resources. The new Deus Ex is another one, its a no go for me as I need that constant 60fps. I'd get 3 card SLI if I thought it would help but I hear people with that set up saying 2% of the card is used by newer games.....

I realized the same thing and wondered why Tridef would have a setting to go past IPD depth and nVidia not. It would have been great if nVidia implemented this with a "WARNING!" message intact. Try Tsaebeh's depth bypass. Just be sure to read up about your "IPD" and how this works with his bypass. You might need to reinstall a driver to reset to the default screen depth settings/code of nVidia.
One other thing you could try, depending on what screen you use, is to lower the brightness as low as plausible to move closer to the screen. In nVidia's "Adjust desktop color settings" tab in control panel I've chosen "Use NVIDIA settings" "All channels" with:
Brightness: 32%
Contrast: 27%
Gamma: 0.78%
Digital vibrance: 66%
Hue: 0°
Play around with these settings. This helped me to avoid eye punishment and enjoy more immersion.
Thanks mike_ar69 and DHR for this great fix!!!
