CrystalEyes 5 Glasses
  1 / 2
I found the specs on the CrystalEyes 5 glasses. They have a 5000:1 contrast ratio.
Wondering why they cost so much though.

I have the crystal eyes 1,2, and 3, and they are very nice. I wonder who has used these 5's and how they compare to the Nvidia Glasses. I think the cyrstal eyes 3 are better than the nvidia glasses for various reasons. They fit over my prescription glasses, they have wide FOV, ghosting seems not existant to me. I seem to be able to game longer without headaches, but they do not recharge like the nvidia glasses, big negative.

So can I just use these to game with while using the nV drivers in place of the normal 3dvision glasses?

so can we just use these with our regular nvidia setup? if so... count me in... virtually no ghosting is a MAJOR plus for me!

I don't see any infromation to say it works with Nvida 3d vision, just that it works with 3d ready DLPs

That's not very auspicious... who wants to try them out?

The CrystalEyes 5 don't work with infrared devices like 3d vision.

But the crystal eyes 3 DO work with the nvidia stuff, and although I have not tested, I think perhaps the crystal eyes CE-PC, and crystal eyes 2 will work as well. These can be found on ebay for CHEAP sometimes. In fact over at MTBS3D - chrisjarram said the IR crystaleyes worked BETTER with the nvidia emitter than the nvidia glasses by far and took ghosting to ZERO, a testament to the high quality of these IR shutters. Still I wish someone with the crystaleyes 5 would chime in how they look with some of these new games compared to the older crystaleyes.

I guess we better stick to the 3D Vision glasses cause the CE 5 don't work with Nvidias IR receiver and the CE 3 looks very goofy and ridiculous. I woudn't wear that weird piece of gadget not even by myself in my bedroom, it also doesn't look very confortable. CE 5 looks cool though

CrystalEyes3 The only place I can find that sells them is 508 dollars :-(. I really wish I could find some cheap glasses for when friends just want to see it. I don't have how stupid they look.

so what i gather from this thread is that Crystal Eyes 3 will work with the Nvidia setup (including emitter/ monitor/ ext..) and other than the goofy look are much better glasses that pretty much eliminate ghosting.....

IDK bout you guys but i don't GIVE a flying **** what they look like, if it gets rid of ghosting, i'm sold!

can someone confirm this b4 i order myself a pair?

To be quite honest, if you are ready to spend $600 just to get rid of ghosting you might as well just get rid of the 3D Vision kit altogether and get a Zalman Trimon for under $300. The Zalman has next to no ghosting when properly configured. It does have other issues (which I won't get into here, just search on MTBS3D), so it is not totally perfect, but in terms of ghosting that is not a problem. You can see some pictures I took from this thread to illustrate this: http://www.mtbs3d.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?p=32120#p32120

Which drivers do you have to use for 3d?

People on this forum have tried CrystalEyes 1,2,3 glasses with the samsung 2233rz monitor, does not work !
CrystalEyes horizontal polarisation
samsung 2233rz 45 degre polarisation
plus some synch problems
http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=91072
i had the same results with xp (quad buffered opengl quadro fx3700 and fx4600)
CrystalEyes glasses plus 3d vision emitter does not work ,different ir protocol , the emitter does actvate the glasses but out off sync.
CrystalEyes glasses may look goofy and ridiculous but they are the best glasses i have used over the years.
Ghosting is produced by a combinaison off factors and not only by the glasses used.

Any of them. The latest Nvidia drivers, the IZ3D drivers or the DDD TriDef Ignition drivers. They all work with the Zalman.
