Can not find the ASUS VG278H anywhere
It seems to me this is the only way for me to get an actual good 3D gaming setup going. For it's the only compatible monitor that has the lightboost technology. And I've been hearing a lot of good things about it. If I'm going to spend a lot of my money, than I want to do this right. I had my heart set on the ASUS VG278H but I can't find it anywhere on the web. What the hell is the problem? Are there any other alternatives? I like the idea of lightboost because I won't lose picture quality or brightness with 3d on.

I called ASUS and the guy said they aren't having any manufacturing problems or anything. If this thing is just selling like hot cakes why aren't there more people talking about it?

Not to sound like a kill joy since tons of people LOVE the monitor. Tons of people HATE the monitor. Tons of manufactor problems. Lots of people made returns due to bad screen(going buggy in multiple different ways), 3d vision adapter not working, etc etc. Read reviews on newegg, amazon. Wouldnt surprise me if vendors are doing limited stock or holding off reordering till new revision comes out especially since they had to wave return shipping on many of the monitors.

That's unfortunate. I REALLY wanna play skyrim in 3d so what would you suggest I do? Is there an alternative that's has just as good 3d?

Depends on many things. 1080p monitor asus is probably the best.(keep in mind need a VERY good video card, like single geforce 580 or 2 480's-570's.)
720p can use a projector. (My setup) $500 acer 5360. $150 screen. 80" 3D image with 0 ghosting.

Unfortunately seeing how good the 3d vision 2 idea is(it allows glasses to be brighter so you can make screen darker) Which helps ghosting so much. It is the only thing I can recommend for lcd monitors. Id say to wait if your set on monitors either for new revision or a different 3d vision 2 monitor.

A single 570 will easilly run Skyrim at max settings in 3d. I can run skyrim max settings in 3d with a single 560 ti.

My single 480 is running Skyrim at more than max settings (I used the ini file to tweak things up a bit) at 1080p.

Skyrim isn't a first person shooter, though. You don't get punished for having a framerate in the 20s.

Its still a very different game experience at 50-60FPS per eye compared to 40 or below, imo. I was getting 30-40FPS before TESVal/SkyBoost/1.4 while using the Nvidia crosshair and really wasn't satisfied with the experience in 3D. Now with 1.4 and the in-game crosshair with official HD pack, I get 50-60 almost always and its so much smoother and more enjoyable. Much better gaming experience imo. A single 480/570 won't get that kind of FPS, it'll be closer to 30-40 maxed out.

Yeah, that sounds about right - but when I see the FPS start going over 30, I start looking for more eye candy to turn on. That's a good way to get yourself killed in first person shooters where you have to aim accuratly and quickly but Skyrim ain't one of those. Plus it's so very, very pretty. Definitely better to look good than to feel good in that one! /wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />
