Tridef has been talked about in these forums for the longest of times. If they were gonna disable it, they may as well would have disabled every 3d video player because most 3rd party ones are better than the one that comes with 3D vision :P
... but the ONLY real limitations i have experienced with DDD and AMD solution are ones CREATED by nvidia through partnerships with game developers to manipulate the 3d landscape. i have never had respect for such wasteful use of resources and (legal) bribery as i believe nvidia are guilty of ...
Ok? I could be wrong here but isn't AMD currently involved in those very same practices? The very same practices that NVIDIA has since pretty much stopped? They aren't currently promoting or supporting 3D Vision ... I think you're a little late to the party ... meanwhile AMD's trying to get it's greedy little mits on the market in the very same manner.

Egads! Holy thread from the past Batman! The linked article and thread is from 2011. I wonder what "Toms Hardware" would have to say here in mid-late 2013. Has the landscape changed all that much?

I dont agree with many of NVIDIA practices but you do know that these are video game card makers right? If it isnt propierty there is no point... They are paying $ for developers to support 3D. NVIDIA is certainly not a charitable organization [Polar Opposite]. Its kind of like sony paying/sponsoring a developer to make a multiplatform game.... no sense. If they got to pay developers for support of 3D games, and I got to pay them for support of card. I'm happy with that arrangement. I think your on the wrong side of the fence tbh.

All this talk of card makers and their proprietary systems made me remember 3dfx ... remember Glide? I f'n loved glide! All the games that used it just looked so much better than their DX counterparts ... I was always looking for the 3dfx logo on games, I didn't care about their practices just that the games looked better. :)

yes, good points all. amd has partnered with aaa game developers and certainly optimized some of the new games for amd hardware (farcry 3 and bioshock infinite are the 2 that come to mind first). since i don't have nvidia i dont know what kind of factor this is, but i will bet that it presents far fewer limitations than any nvidia partnered game. Think physx. hfs they sure wanted people to believe that you had to have an nvidia gpu to run physx, while my cpu does great (yes, im talking about batman ac with max physx, and yes it is working wonderfully). physx is great but nvidia are notorious for softcoding obstacles in to make amd cards simply not work as well without some modifications. as far as 3d, when i posted my reply i didnt realize how long since this thread had died lol. i do notice the games i have bought recently have been amd partnered rather than nvidia, i guess they are truly beaten in that area. amd/hd3d/ddd works better and is more versatile, it was only a matter of time before 3dvision were outshined. in all fairness i admit that physx is awesome. i wish there was heavier implementation in the 2 games i mentioned, but without the softcoding that makes patches necessary for my cpu to run it fully. can't we all just get along?
