Looks like a REALLY cool game.
Should be fun exploring and solving puzzles in 3D. At least some good 3D news at last.

Also, this is why the success of the Oculus Rift is good for 3D. If a game is made to work with the Rift, then it should also have 3D stereo support as well for people like us.

That is some good news, I was a little put off by the way the guy who made it/Braid went on and on about game design and the like, seemed way too condescending to me, and didn't really give Braid much of a chance until later when I got it in a bundle. It actually turned out to be a pretty decent game.

Good news on both accounts. This is the type of game I want to play on the Rift and/or 3D. So glad it's getting that support.
I've always assumed Rift was good for 3D Vision, but I've not beaten the drum too loudly. Because while I've always thought a broken shader fixed for Rift support = broken shader fixed for all 3D, I'm just not technically savvy like the fixers here are. I was open to the possibility it wasn't quite that simple.
EDIT: Here's hoping No Man's Sky is next on the list. That's a game I desperately want support for.

The version (that's wowing everyone) to be shown at CES. Fingers crossed they then announce it'll become available as Dev Kit 2 (since they'll clearly need a new kit in the wild for the tracking features).
Oculus and Valve have basically been sharing info and a lot of Valve's research has been incorporated into the Rift. They admit Valve's prototype is more advanced, but solely for R&D purposes and not commercial production.

Game was fixed by DSS in 2016

[/quote]Worth picking up for free, but it's worth noting that this version does not have a working fix. The fix on the blog is for an older version which is easy enough to get using SteamDB. Alternatively, you can use the fix, and just put up with the water reflections being off. Pretty minor overall.
None of the universal fixes will work here, because these crazy people wrote their own game engine. Might be possible for someone to update the fix, following DSS's original fixing approach.
Also... if someone can figure out how to get this to work in VR BigScreen or VirtualDesktop, I'd love to know. SBS shader is working fine, but the game has some VR knowledge and kills 3D Vision whenever VR is active.

Do you just have to open an account or do you also "have to" install the launcher to get this for free?
@D-Man11
All I did is install the epic game launcher and created a account every two weeks a free game.
Also the game will only launch with the launcher and a internet connection.

Installation requires the Launcher, but after that it doesn't seem to care if I'm logged in, and doesn't require a network connection to launch the game manually from the install folder.
@Schwing.: Pretty much agree. Puzzles were interesting at first, but get tedious. There are some really clever puzzles, but I have no patience for the art-house pretension. But in 3D, it was so damn beautiful that I played all the way through.
Edit: Looks like the games vary on Epic Launcher. I can launch The Witness with no problems, but Edith Finch will crash, then run, if I launch it directly outside of the launcher.

I already had the free games offered so far. But I specifically refrained from getting this game due to the developers silly comment.
I suppose since it's free and all.
Thanks for the clarification on the launcher. I wonder if it has even improved since last time I installed it back at the end of 2015 to get Shadow Complex for free.

Obviously it improved at least a little, back then it had a hardware scanner. Now it has a file scanner, according to the reports about it appropriating Steam information without user consent.
