Hi
I hava a situation here i'm in the market for new 3D tv but i have never seen the described 3D effects i know strange but i will tell you something maybe i'm blind.Well for one i just went to near store with electronics and asked clerk about 3D tv's i heard a lecture how passive is better and so on.Well then we tried couple of tv's with 3D effects some demos but i could not see the effect or depth of the scene at all..Ok so i proposed to bring the computer with enabled 3D TV play so we could try some 3D blu-rays and games and let's see how that look..So i bring pc to the store and tried 3D bluray side by side on active and passive 3D TV set and nada..Then i have tried games as Thief, Tomb Raider, Crysis 3 on active and passive 3D tv set and nothing at all..No depth pop out or deep scenery as described by ppl..It just did not work at all..So the question is what are you guys using what tv sets and what pc settings to make it work or better yet describe how Real pc 3D look like...Thanks

The only thing that would make there not be any noticeable 3D effect at all would be if the eye sync is off. On a 3D HDTV, there should be an option in the menu to reverse eye sync. A quick way to test is to put the glasses on upside down, then if you can see 3D, you know that the sync needs swapped.
Also, when gaming you should enable the advanced hotkeys and adjust convergence to increase the 3D effect.

Thanks for reply D-Man11..I'm not sure if i get you but i think the sync was on but i can't be sure bc i did not put the glasses upside down..I was more thinking that in 3D games i would see background far foreground close or coming out of tv right ? In Thief i could not see garret hands coming out of picture as described...I know about convergence setting i have mapped it to page up page down but still can't use it in game not sure why ? Also if you mean reverse eyes or flip eyes we have tried to mess with it w/o result..But thanks anyway's

3D isn't always out of the screen in your face, especially with movies. Games can be tweaked, but do not have unrealistic expectations of pop out.
With static images, it's easy to do because the image is stationary.
Since you have 3DTV Play installed, try viewing this image. It has extreme pop out.

So without the glasses you were seeing a doubled image? And with the glasses you weren't? Even with very minimal 3D you should definitely notice the effect, especially being new to it ... if you rule out that it's some sort of configuration issue there is the chance of you being Stereo Blind. Yeah w/o the glasses games showed double image with the glasses i have seen the whole image but no 3D effect it was just flat...Tried Samsung 3D active shutter glasess and LG Cinema 3D passive set both showed double image in games maybe not Tomb raider that showed double image even with the glasess on..Maybe you are right we are all blind there were four clerks in the store and all of them tried and could not see the 3D effect ? I'm using trial version of 3D TV PLAY and MSI GTX 970 Gaming 4G as my graphic card and the HDTV sets were all made in 2014 - 2015 so i guess i'm ou of luck ???

I would never ever want to use 3D on a monitor/TV/projector that doesn't work in low persistence mode (aka strobing/backlight strobe/backlight scanning/etc.).
I know Sony TVs are good for gaming, have 12-15 ms lag with worst case scenarios with 18-23ms, plus they manage to display quite clear image in motion thanx to low persistence mode (found on paper as "MotionFlow 400Hz" or more). It flickers at 60Hz and I don't know what signal those TVs accept (probably not full 1080p120), but I'd advice you to do some resarch. If you can get anything with low persistence, I would choose that.
3D + clear image in motion = GREAT immersion.

Hello
I have never heard of low persistance mode but i will check with the store...The input lag is quite high :) I was thinking that newer models are little bit more advanced in that regard..So yeah i had old Plazma which i have got rid of that thing had pretty high input lag on pc but with xone it was ok ?? Well but the point is even with my configuration we couldn't see the 3D effect in games which should be visible ??

If that many of you were having issues seeing any discernible depth, I'd have to lean towards it's not set up properly ... it's one thing if they saw it and you didn't but no one seeing anything sounds suspicious.

Ok maybe i have set it up not properly..Configuration GTX 970 Nvidia 3D TV PLAY Trial version, hdmi cable...First of all i have tried 3D stero nvidia test which did not pop out at all and it should show depth..The 3D picture viewer at the end of set up i have seen only flat images not 3D ?? And as for games all flat no depth at all so i guess you guys are all lucky when it comes to 3D i can't get it to work..Yeah it's suspicious that all the ppl haven't seen the 3D effect something wrong with my config..The 3D HDTV switch the 3D on when it should so i don't know what's the problem ??

Not sure if this'll work, or even if it proves anything but I'd guess if you can view 3D using the cross-eyed viewing method then you'd be able to view 3D if it was setup properly ... worth a try anyway.
Basically what you want to do is look at and align your head with the center of the doubled image and cross your eyes until they merge and make 3D image in the middle of two. If you're having trouble doing I find that making the image smaller and/or putting more distance between yourself and the screen help a lot, it's also important not to tilt your head.
Good luck! :)
