I uploaded the new version 1.3 as zip file - see first post for download link. This version fixes all missing point lights, decals now work at any resolution and the HEX pattern in menues now works at any HUD depth. Furthermore this version fixes some syntax errors inside asm compute shaders which were responsible for some crashes. Please run uninstall.bat before installing the new version because some files were removed from the ShaderFixes folder. @ all who tried my ini file The new zip file includes two manually fixes compute shaders for light shafts which need a different pattern than the ~90 tile lighting shaders. Please check if the crashes are finally gone with the new version.

Hello again, 1.2 with the mentioned manual patches, as well as version 1.3 it kind of worked. I could play the game like an hour or so. It still occasionally crashes, but much less often. It is playable this way. There was one crash though, that occured repeatedly. After talking to Duras in the factory. I talked to him, like 4 times. After the fifth time, the game didn't crashed, and I could go on. I also played with activated Steam overlay and Steam controller. I used the steam Controller as XBOX controller, but set some Key combinations to F2, F3, F4 and Ctrl+T. Except for the already mentioned crashes that occured some times, everything else worked good. Thanks again, mx-2 for this great work.

Game still seems to be crashing at places. I had one crash in factory martinprohn mentioned and now several in building near Goliet (with dead outlaws).

There's a new update on Steam, which seem to have broken the fix.

Oh no!!! I had no time for my pc the last days, and now I read all the posts here, and that mx-2 invested more work and created a new version of a fix which works great... and now steam is updating elex and I can't stop it and can't start elex without steam. That can't be true! Apperently I indeed need to buy the gog version, because in the gog client you can choose to install an update or not. Nevertheless I'll give the new fix with the new elex patch a try later tonight.

Started Elex and wondered, why are shadows wrong! Still don’t understand, why I can’t just use old version. In many games this works via Beta settings. And frankly it doesn’t make sense to force updates on games, that aren't Multiplayer.

Another question. If I would install Windows 7 and then ELEX (of course the GOG version this time). Would it then not crash? So is installing a parallel Windows 7 installation for playing ELEX a good idea? (Because at some areas it crashes very often, which makes it hard to play.)

This update is not out on GoG yet but the changelog looks promising. When it's out I'll update the fix. Is there something else broken than shadows (only from sun? or also from point lights)?

Hi mx-2! Great news that a new fix will follow! Actually, I don't see anything broken than shadows. To the second question I don't have an answer, sorry. I am in Goliet and I only found shadows from the sun... I tried a torch, but it didn't throw any shadows at all. By the way, in the minutes I tested your actual fix, I didn't have any crashes, with the older fix I mostly had a crash no later than after 10 seconds :)

Version 1.4 of the fix which adds support for patch 1.0.2946, is out now. It can be downloaded from the link in the first post. Edit: Please delete the ShaderFixes folder before installing the new version. If some files from the old version remain in the ShaderFixes folder, the fix may not work.

Hello, thanks for the Fix ;) If I can give my input. v1.4 fixed the shadows issues on steam version (win 10, 388.59) but now it crash, in some location, for exemple in the first area, at the beginning when jax is stripped, he find some kind of broken pod/device on the ground, the game crashes.
