ACER GN245HQ and 3D HDMI 1.4a side by side feed from Final Cut
I'm working on a 3D project on Final Cut Pro 7. I have side by side footage to edit and I have the GN245HQ 3D client monitor that is being fed an hdmi 1.4a side by side with the proper 3D tags through an MXO2 from Matrox.

I know cineform offers an option to do such but I'm already getting the footage in side by side ProRes from the shooting crew. So all I need really is a way to tell FCP to output HDMI 3D with the proper flag for our 3D client monitor.

I was able to get some image on the client monitor that looks like a 3D image (I have a side by side source in FCP) but the monitor still does not fire its emitter to interact with the glasses, so I'm not fully there yet.

When I look at the info in the monitor about the HDMI signal it's getting it shows a strange 28Hz frequency. Yet I set the MATROX to output an 1080 50i signal. I also tried with 1080p25 and same result. And if I try a different frequency from the footage (I'm editing is 25p) then it just does not play anymore on GN245HQ (still image).

I know this setup in Final Cut using the Matrox MXO2 box can work cause I have successful reports from other users except they use other types of clients monitors that require as well a proper 3D HDMI1.4a signal. So it really looks like the Acer GN245HQ is not doing its job here like it should do.

Anybody at Acer or other able to help me here? Cause it looks like I'm really close, but the Acer has trouble getting in 3D mode enventhough a 3D signal is properly being fed by HDMI.

Maybe a firmware upgrade would do it, or some technique in the factory menu to force activating the 3D emitter?

Thanks

Arnaud

Ok I tried using the monitor in After Effects and I get also the same issue, both sides of the images seem to display in '3D' mode on the acer but the 3D emitter does not activate. Really strange, thanks for any help.
