Tridef on nVidia guide (play AC3, Bioshock, probably more)
5 / 5
I've never used passive 3d, so I can't comment on that. However, I did find the halved resolution quite blocky and jarring. It was one of the reasons I stopped using Tridef. Tridef definitely felt subpar compared to what I was used to.
It's all about what your eyes are used to though. 6 months ago I thought 2D looked terrific. Nowadays I find 2D borderline unplayable.
Sounds like you might be fine with Tridef. But I suspect if you play a few games with native 3Dvision 2, you may start finding Tridef a bit lacking.
My advice is commit to either Tridef or 3Dvision, and make a monitor purchase that best supports whichever you choose.

Yeah, I wish I could just go all out and commit to nvidia 3d vision 2 because it seems so awesome, but based on my testing, tridef's "power 3d" was extremely effective at overcoming glitches that neither tridef regular 3d nor nvidia 3d could circumvent, at least in diablo 3, bioshock infinite, and gta 4 which are the only games I tested.
For some reason, whenever a game is iffy in 3d, depth-buffer 3d gives the best of both worlds, 90% as good as real 3d and 100% glitch-free. ESPECIALLY in diablo 3. Somehow in diablo 3 depth buffer 3d looks 100% as good as real 3d and 100% glitch-free. Probably because there are never any objects close enough to you to have to "peek around". I wish Nvidia had that option!
