Valve is going to show their VR prototype in next year Steam Days
http://www.steamdevdays.com/?p=sessions
I know it's not strictly 3D related but I think it's interesting enough.
Maybe now Nvidia will take their next step and show their VR HMD, and hopefully it will boost their 3d vision support, as some Nvidia guy mentioned recently.
It looks like Valve wants VR to promote their OS and computers. Now I wonder if Sony or MS will stay quiet or will they develop their own hmd.

WTF. I know I posted a reply. It was eaten. Gonna condense this second reply and say I'm super excited about this. Although it's a private event and I'm not sure whether or not we'll actually get to hear any of those impressions:(

Yeah the mod that says we will soon hear much more about 3DV will most definetly have to do with nvidia Vr-Vision as im sure they know it's the future so of course they will try their own thing again..
only works with nvidia bla bla g-Sync monitors and now Crysis 4 only works with nvidia Vr HMD and NOT with Oculus Rift as Nvidia paid Crytek a shitload of money to have VR only with their glasses and the story continue the same!
Propriatary once again and if it will not fly they will just play the same shitty game and just ignore us all.. sometimes nvidia really piss me of as it should do to you TO!

Except I'd bet every cent I had Nvidia comments are not related to VR. As I mentioned in the official thread, that prototype is using the guts of the Sony HMZ-T1. I know, because I had extensive hands on with the HMZ (including a lot of disassembled time). It's a nice concept, but it's not anywhere near ready for production. So you can stop worrying about Nvidia "money hatting" everything. If we wanna talk paranoia, let's focus on Nvidia coming out with a Mantle competitor so we can go back 20 years and have every stupid game exclusive to different manufacturers. There's a reason we ditched proprietary APIs and went to OpenGL (and later DirectX).

I don't think it will. I mean, it's in everyone's interest for it to succeed. VR absolutely craves resolution and refresh rate. Neither can be high enough. AMD and Nvidia would both see huge benefits if people need constant upgrades for the next decade. It's in their interest for VR to succeed. And success depends on a single standard.
Valve for instance is developing hardware, but they're one of Oculus' biggest supporters/partners. Lucky Palmer is even speaking at this event. So at least on the PC side, I think everyone understands they need to be on the same page and not have a circular firing squad.

The VR craze has just begin and every day something new comes out to read so I cant wait, VR is like the holy grail like ever damn nerd says .. LOL
