If you ever need hlsltool.py, then you'll need these to get to the main prompt of it:

Install Python3 and put all three Python files in the same folder. Shift+Right-click in that folder to open a PowerShell window. Type python hlsltool.py to see the main prompt. Type python3 instead if you get an error. Hi I tried running this program and when I do I get the following error:
hlsltool.py: error: the following arguments are required: files
Now in your post you said go there and get the "File" from the link you posted.. Well on that page there are alot of "Files" which one am I supposed to get.. Sorry for the dumb question ;)

It's referring to HLSL shader files. I used the following and it worked without having to download anything else:
python hlsltool.py --output output.txt --auto-fix-vertex-h
alo 72ffa1cd14b2f368-vs_replace.txt
Make sure all files are in the same folder. The above will produce a new output.txt file similar to what the shader in your previous post contains. Note the command line parameters in your post's shader and any other shaders you come across that this tool was used on. Also the order for the parameters is strict, or else errors ensue.

this is not a final release so be warned it is not perfect yet..:

Awesome work Th3_N3philim. I doubt that there will be any graphical changes when the beta goes live which should be in 1-3 months I think. I think the star field is at too close a depth. Please see the attached image.I have sent you a PM.

The new fix is seems to be working flawlessly in the non-beta 3.2v of elite dangerous.
I installed the new fix in the Public_test_Server_64 folder and the elite-dangerous-64 folder under
EDLaunch/Products.

Hi Schwing,
I appreciate the help.. I tried to copy that line but I get the same error.. so let me step back 1. You said to put those files in a folder which folder do I put them in the:
hlsltool.py
shadertool.py
shaderutil.py
Do I put these in the root directory of where python is installed?? I think I am close but this aludes me..

The Python installation is a separate entity. Meaning you can run the python files from wherever you'd like. As for where the shaders are, you can add a folder path before the shader file (and use quotes to prevent spaces from causing errors). For example, moving the 72ff shader into the Resident Evil 7 folder and running hlsltool.py (from somewhere else) makes the command look like this:
python hlsltool.py --output "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\RESIDENT EVIL 7 biohazard\ShaderFixes_HLSL_Tool\output.txt" --auto-fix-vertex-halo "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\RESIDENT EVIL 7 biohazard\ShaderFixes\72ffa1cd14b2f368-vs_replace.txt"
The folder for the output file, ShaderFixes_HLSL_Tool, needs to exist before it will work though.

@SubjectBucko, did you set your separation and convergance correctly?? I am not getting that issue and when I tracked down the Star shaders and input the code it did not change. so it seems klike it is ok but I looked at your screenshot it does look like less separation..

@SubjectBucko, is the separation working ok in other games and elite is the only troubled one??
I use 3D Fix Manager that has a separation booster where I get increased separation beyone what the Stock drivers provide..
So say you have 35% and use the booster it would be like increasing the separation to 70% but still be at 35%..
But if the separation is fine in other games we need to figure out what is going on in Elite??
In that screenshot the separation looks fine. but I see an odd relfection or something on the left side of the Anaconda.. is that the problem or both separation and reflection a problem??

@Th3_N3philim, I don’t use 3D Fix Manager. No issues with separation in any other games. Only issue is the star field in Elite beta fix.
Not sure why it is working for you and not for me.
I have installed the beta fix in the products/public_test_seever_64 folder.
I have downloaded the beta fix again, tired Nvidia drivers 411.70 and 416.34, tried single and triple screen and disabled sli and tried all the variations in in-game settings and nothing makes a difference.
Are you sure the download link for the beta fix is the version you are using ... just a thought.
Many thanks

Yes. But I also tried the fix in single screen.
Here is another screenshot at 50% depth where is it more noticable that the starfield is at the incorrect depth.
Am I installing the fix in the correct location?
Do you think my being on windows 7 might be causing an issue?
it could be but try this fix first I updated to my latest fix maybe I goofed something in the beta ;)
Yes it looks to be the correct location.. to me it looks fine but that means nothing.. Lets try this in another game when looking out at a very distant object how much separation do you have between those distant objects??

There is a dark shadow or reflection on both the left and right of the front of the anaconda when I am near the sun. The sun also looks odd with some patchy surface translucancy but I need to fly around some more to get a clearer sense of this. These are both minor issues nonetheless. Otherwise the fix is extremely good. Thank you so much.
