I am a computer expert, yet I must be doing something silly because I don't know how to get my nVidia 3D vision working except some that are in full screen mode. The photos and videos on the nVidia website and youtube are all side-by-side, not in 3D. The green 3D light on my new Dell XPS 17 does not come on when this 3D content starts playing. The 3D test appears ok, though, in the nVidia control panel.
I have the latest driver since I had to update this for youtube nVidia 3D compatibility.
Why is 3D only working for certain nVidia full screen demos pre-installed on the laptop but all of the content from the web appears with split images that don't turn on the LED?

I have the EXACT same problem with one slight difference. The 3D LED does light up although through the glasses you can still see both images and they are not in 3D.
Its really bugging me because I have trawled the Internet looking for answers and tried all of the different viewing options but still cannot get the images into one so it can be viewed in 3D.
I have downloaded the latest drivers from the NVIDIA website but this hasn't made a difference, neither has the K-Lite Codec Pack. Games work fine in 3D, its just films.

Well did you try using the nvidia 3d player? In k-lite player it doesn't work.( last time tested)
You need 3D VISION VIDEO PLAYER V1.7.2 for videos. You can download it from nvidia.com at the drivers section.
I'm not sure about the web content though.

The web content that fails to trigger 3D is on the nVidia website. Others are having the same problem apparently.
Is this a major bug with nVidia 3D?
Imagine if you went to the Microsoft website and embedded Windows Media videos failed to play on Microsoft's own website and then someone said "well make sure you're playing the videos using the standalone Windows Media Player." That's what your suggestion sounds like Aquaknox, but there is a bigger problem here with nVidia not being able to play their own content.

Sorry, i meant that you can play a video saved on your harddisk with nvidia video player. But now i understand that your problem is focused on the web content. My bad.

I uninstalled and re-installed nVidia drivers 280.26 three times, and then finally the 3D videos started working on the nVidia web page and on youtube.
Sometimes when I tried to reinstall 280.26 it would crash my Dell XPS 17 with a black screen. But I keep trying and I selected "run as administrator" while starting the executable and "clean install" in the setup option. I'm not sure why some installs failed and the last attempt worked.
Bottom line: there is a major bug in the nVidia installer for 280.26.

I've had this happen before and I did not have to re-install anything. What I did was disable 3D Vision, then restart the computer, then re-enable it, made sure the "Show 3D when Application Runs" was selected (NOT full-screen application) and then try again. Eventually it worked, at least in Windows 7.
