No more 3d support? A statement...
  1 / 2
Hello Can you tell me why your company has no longer interest in 3d vision support? I read it in the net and i am really disappointed if that will be a fact! We, the 3d users buy your newest and fastest cards, buy a 3d monitor with glasses and hardware and so on. I have a gtx690 just and only because i want to play in perfect 3d. We all buyed your stuff ONLY because of the 3d support in the upcoming games. But what happens is, that games like BF4 or bioshock infinite or we can say 80% of the new games are not supported with 3d vision. You say its "3d ready" but thats really nonsense! Did you ever saw the bad shadows and shaders? There is only ONE guy out there (helix) who can fix these things in days and a big company like yours is not able to do that before the release of the games?? Why you dont give him a good payed job!-) Its a shame guys!!! Everybody in the 3d comunity think like that and you will loose these customers including me next time you will sell your next gen cards (because when 3d dont works you dont need a fast card) And for sure your reputation! I think you make a big mistake at the moment, you should push 3d with the gameindustry and not killing it, infact that oculus rift is coming up next year! If you do not, somebody else will do it for sure. The 3d community is growing very fast and we all wait for buying a game until we know the game is working very well in 3d or HELIX made a fix for it. Before we dont know that, we dont buy that game. You can imagine how many more sells could be realized in BF4 for example.. Not just a few hundreds thats for sure!-) We are all really not happy with this situation and disappointed about your efforts in 3d vision, we just dont understand it! It will run the market in the next five years, especially when oculus rift is coming on the market! And you dont want to support it? That must be a big joke and you have to change your boss and his strategy immediately... Better for you and the customers!! Please answer these questions! Thank you! Best regards

My guess is that Helix makes more in his day job than he could at Nvidia, and that's one of probably many practical reasons that Nvidia can't simply hire him. I'm also with Nvidia solely because of 3D, but when 3D doesn't work my inclination is to blame developers first. It's more difficult for Nvidia to fix a broken game through drivers than it is for developers to do 3D correctly in the first place.

Ok, we say helix have a dayjob and do these things after... Thats only one guy who can do these fixes for thousands of 3d users. He is the hero of these people!!! And a big company is not able to do it? I dont understand that.. Really! Maybe they dont need us now, but in future? Big, big mistake...

They also could give him a dx11 dewrapper, so he could fix the new games. They could give him the tools he need to do the dx11 fixes.. Why they dont?

My biggest worry is that maybe Nvidia thinks that the 3D community is too small to justify the paycheck of someone who can do 3D fixes like Helix does. This might be true, but only Nvidia has the data and numbers, so we can only guess about it. But even if that is true, I'm not too worried about the long term health of 3D. There is another option for us now, Tridef, as well as the Oculus Rift in the future. My hope is that Nvidia has been silent about 3D because they've been busy working on updating the driver to work better with modern games. Think this is possible too, but again, it's just a guess. Still, what scorn I have is for developers. Nvidia 3D Vision, even in it's current state of neglect, is the best 3D gaming option by far right now. I think Nvidia at least deserves a little credit for setting that foundation.
They could give him the tools he need to do the dx11 fixes.. Why they dont?
Perhaps because they don't even have tools for DX11 fixes. Perhaps because they're working on making such tools right now. Helix made a DX11 wrapper of his own, but he fixed Bioshock Infinite by hand. There's no easy automatic process for DX11 fixes in existence as far as I know.

The Skyrim guys are a famous example of this. It's a real shame that terrible 3D has given so many people such an awful first impression, that they refuse to even look at what 3D looks like when running at 1080p @60fps with tons of depth and proper convergence settings. It's why I really hope the console manufacturers don't jump the gun and release some trash VR setup before Oculus and the like release a consumer version. Because the last thing we need is the mass market once again getting a terrible first impression and mistakenly writing something off again.

Support is very limited when it comes to 3D by NVidia community fixes are keeping this tech alive. What happen to Andrew from NVidia who would always post in the 3d vision forums ? NVidia could sponsor more A1 titles and tell developers to include 3D vision support example Batman Origins and Call of Duty Ghosts. Helix is a very smart guy when it comes to 3D but I sure NVidia could higher someone to make a 3D wrapper for DirectX11 and included in there drivers. I think the bottom line is NVidia doesn't care about 3D it was mentioned once during the g-sync presentation.
Unfortunately, many of them take a belligerent attitude of even refusing to see what their games look like in 3D.
Exactly. And every game would work in 3D if developers decided to implement it on their own, regardless of Nvidia. Tomb Raider is a great example from this year. Skyrim should work in 3D out of the box, without the need for the Nvidia driver to hack it and Helix to patch it.

@paul33993 i agree 100%. Now, skyrim looks sooo good in 3d with all the mods, its really great! I can also recommend batman arkham origins, but thats it for new games now.. And bf4 its just awful (its just make me sad and upset about these 3d efforts!)

If somebody see the first time a game in perfect 3d, he or she never go back to 2d for sure! Better marketing and support could help the people to get the right settings (depth, convergence and so on) in the games, so they can make the "true" experience with 3d! No answer from the forum master (s)??

As I said in another thread...same thing here. 3DVision is the reason (and the only reason for me) that I spent nearly €2000 for nvidia Hardware since Fermi. Without 3D Vision I wont play BF4 nor CoD nor Assassins Creed. If 3D Vision dies, I will quit PC Gaming. So nvidia, hire Helix, Chiri or whoever. Or do dev support to keep 3D Vision alive. PLEASE! Best, Sam
