The reason I ask is that some members here have reported that nvidia have blocked the use of 1080 @ 24 frames, and some state that you can. I am confused, can someone please give me the correct answer?

OMG I cannot believe that anyone would want to play any game other than Space Invaders @ 720p. I am gobsmacked that nvidia have even considered releasing such a backward driver. Oh well at least I save a shed load of cash. And yes I know it's a limitation of the cable.
Why is it that TV's are different from monitors? Why is there this restriction on TV's?

TV's are made for movies and 24fps are enough for that. I guess that companies didn't think this far that somebody would use a TV for 3D-gaming.
Its just the first generation of 3D-screens. Lets see what the next generations will be able to show.

Hi
First off please do your research before you criticize our driver.
HDMI 1.4 has limitations on the bandwidth it supports. It allows for 720p60 for 3D gaming, and 1080p24 for Blu-ray 3D. TVs do not support 1080p60.
The internal chips and hardware of TVs and Monitors are different and we can fully support 1080p60 on 3D Vision monitors. TVs will likely support it in the futuure, but they are not available yet.

Andrew, I wasn't criticising your driver, just that you bothered to release one in the first place. It seems a backward step to me. 720p on a 50 TV must look awfull.

It doesn't look awful, actually looks pretty good, especially with enough anti-aliasing. Aren't most 360 and PS3 games in 720p anyway?

Has anyone tried gaming at full HD? I realise it's @ 24fps but that's good enough for me.

Yes, Games work @ 1080P 24hz. It looks incredible on my 50" Panasonic, I prefer the higher resolution, frame rate is not an issue for me.. Current games let you pick the resolution and refresh rate, Choose 1080p 24hz and enable 3D vision.

It's even possible to play in full HD @ 30Hz per eye, at least on Samsung 3D ready HDTVs. See my post in thread "3D TV Play & 24hz".
