I don't ever remember a daily being priced lower than a flash. And I doubt Styx even gets a daily anyhow. And those suggestions are all terrific. Gunpoint and Mark of the Ninja don't have stereo, but they're still two great games worth playing. EDIT: I suppose there's a slight chance Styx could be slightly lower if it's a community vote and wins. But I wouldn't chance it if I actually wanted to play Styx now. No guarantee it'll be a voted on game... or if the winning price would even be lower.

I had not seen the "next Card" progress bar when buying Reveangence yesterday, that's why I though it was no longer applicable. I'll check again when I buy the next game. Thanks guys for your suggestions. I had played all the other games, apart from Alien. Thief at around 6-7EUR is probably my next cadidate. Alien is still new so the price will be relatively high even if 50% off. Plus from all the comments here and on the net, it's more of an aquired taste, gameplay wise, not a stealth game per se. But it's obvioulsy on my wishlist, from the second I read here that a fix was being worked on. Thanks again to the fixers, wihtout which we would never be able to enjoy great games such as Dishonoured, Alien and Styx. You guys are the best!

Is this sale specifically centered around games that work well in 3D like Trine? I'm confused...or is this about games within the current sale that happen to run well in 3dvision?

This is just a normal sale. We're discussing the games that work well in 3D, and you can follow the curation pages (linked on the previous page of this thread) for recommendations.
I don't think I like the changes made to the structure of the Sales. They were a little more involved before: three votes per day, Flash sales every 8 hours, etc. Now it's one vote every 24 hours, and some rotating sales every 12 hours (apart from the obvious Daily Deals). So I just realised that Styx was discounted 50% as part of one of those "every 12 hours" deals. Since these seem to replace Flash sales, and the urban legend (confirmed during previous sales) was that a Flash sale game would never get a deeper discount during the current Sales season, do you guys think that Styx would get lower than 50% off? Yes, I seem to be a cheapskate, who knew? I don't know why I'm fixating on Styx, maybe I just need a stealth game. Thief will also be discounted at least 75%, so I'll probably be ok. Have you guys played Styx, and would say it's worth buying even at only 50% off? Also, what's the deal with no longer getting Tokens/Cards with every 10eur purchase? Jeez :-)
Styx with the 3D Fix does work well but I personally was not impressed with the game. I am a huge fan of the original Thief series and I have been waiting patiently for a game that would be in the style and gameplay of the originals. Two things come to mind with Styx, the graphics and level design seem so lazy to me. The tileset, if you can call it that seem like a copy paste job which becomes very noticeable right away. The levels do not seem hand crafted and the best way I can describe it is that each area seems like a standard geometric shape and the graphic assets are just pasted on the floors, walls and the objects are repeated in said area. Graphics are real low in resolution and reek of a console game. Also, I never feel like Styx is in the shadows and truly hiding. The worst part to me is this game is clearly meant for a console and even 3D cannot save this title. I got bored with the lazy design and honestly think the PC port is shit. Having said all that, there are many who have enjoyed it and one great thing about games in 3D is the enjoyment can go up a few notches from standard 2D. I always think to myself that developers who do not see their creativity in 3D should. 3D somehow fleshes out the vision of what the designers envisioned when they create their worlds. The new Thief is also another dud, a console port at the core and completely aimed at the casual action/platformer gamer. Not many companies do a good job of immersion with stealth mechanics. Games that include this feature often feel tacked on. The developers of the new Thief series cashed in on the name and there is definitely no connection to the originals. They missed the entire essence of what a Thief game should be. I am still patiently waiting! My two cents :)

Hi Stryker, Thanks for your thoughts. I was half expecting Styx to be a lower budget game, as the price and screenshots seem to suggest. But I was also half hoping it would be fun to play. It might still be. To my (PC elitist master race etc) shame, my standards have lowered severily this past few years. I've been gaming for almost 30 years on PC, and if I keep the mindset you have I would not play any games anymore, period. Nobody makes them like that anymore, they cannot sell enough of them to the current player base, compared to how much games cost to make nowadays. I would have stopped gaming altogether anyway, had I not discovered 3D Vision and this amazing community we're part of. So games like Thief and Styx, although not even a pale shadow of what they could have been had they been developed during the golden PC age (minus the graphics of course), they are the only ones available. Add to that that they are also amongst a very small subset of games working in 3D Vision - and the prospect of playing them seems even more enticing. :-) It is perhaps a little sad, but I'm sure the human race will get into something better, given enough time. Maybe games will be smarter, with better AI, and better subsystems, better performance. I won't be bitter yet. Not while Mike/Bo3b/Helifax etc are around, fixing whatever games are made. But I do agree that what the business gaming has become reeks more of regress than progress, at least gameplay wise. But I think almost everybody on these forums are aware of this and accept the reality. (if at least 3D would work out of the box, however crappy games may be, right? :-) )

(if at least 3D would work out of the box, whatever crappy games may be, right? :-) )
@Zappologist I hear ya and it sounds like we have same years of experience in PC gaming! Actually, my first game was Dungeon Master for the Atari ST which was a similar platform as the PC. I was a kid, but that game blew me away....lol. I often hear the label "PC Elitist" which I don't think is a fair statement. I have a difficult time why anyone cannot simply view this as a personal preference in terms of gaming platform, nothing more. I agree about the regression in game design philosophy and I get it why it happens. The console market makes sense purely from a business standpoint. In fact I am envious of console gamers since games are designed and catered to them. I just don't like consoles and I certainly do not hate them that they exist. Many people are happy with them. Thankfully there are a lot of positives with the PC platform as it is now. Things such as 3D Vision and to me, the most important fundamental reason why I have stuck to the PC is due to modding and altering. Without this, I would've gone on to spending my free time with other things. The digital platform for delivery of content over the web is huge. Current price of PC games is an attractive proposition. One thing I do now is research a game before purchase. Make sure it'll work in 3D, and two, can it be modded or fixed? Bethesda has done a great job with modder friendly software. I have modded many of their games to tailor it to my liking and you simply cannot do this kind of thing with the console. Overall, the market is what it is and I think Steam and other platforms have revitalized the PC as a gaming platform and hopefully that massive ship meaning the game industry will shift gears and go back to some old roots in terms of game design. It's always evolving. I have my eye on either "Lords of the Fallen" or "Dark Souls II". The PC mods for the Dark Souls I is an excellent example of how it can be transformed into an awesome PC game.

Well said. Hope you get Lords of the Fallen or Dark Souls II cheap during the sales. That reminds me I have not yet played Dark Souls 1. Are you talking just about the fix to increase resolution / remove fps caps / setting keyboard keys? Or are there content mods, or gameplay altering mods, for this game? Just curious, since the game seems to have a very particular type of gameplay, so I was wondering if modders already messed around with that, like total overhauls or something.

Can get Toyboy Turbos for 6.00 if you use the 20 percent off code on the front page of Green Man Gaming. It's just a Steam key. And while it looks terrific in 3D Vision, it's absolutely amazing with the just patched in Oculus VR support.

@Zappologist - The only one you really need is dsfix, to set the resolution correctly and uncap the framerate. There's a HD texture pack which pretties things up a bit, and mods to improve MP connectivity and mouse support, which you may want too. Though I'd recommend a controller.

Stealth is my favourite genre and styx sits comfortably in my top10 goty list. Although im pretty easy to please, i even thought new thief was good and im also a huge fan of the older one. I hadnt played stealth game long time before styx so thats probably the reason im liking it so much. Got to get me some stealth action.

Great to hear you enjoyed Styx, Sammy. I'm looking forward to try it as well. Thanks Pirate, that's the one I knew about, so just wanted to clarify. I would have been surprised if DS had any content/overhaul mods, due to the very special gameplay that does not lend itself perhaps to such things.

As Pirate said, you only need DSFix, but if you want to use KB + M, you'll need to use DSMFix otherwise is works like crap. Just be mindful to use the updated versions of both DSFix and DSMFix since the patching out of GFWL broke the previous versions. You can find the latest DSFix here http://blog.metaclassofnil.com/?p=652 The Steam forums have the DSMFix updated fix as well, not sure where that link is, but easy to find. I am using the hd texture mod and this game plays and looks pretty dam good in 3D! The Steam forums have the DSMFix updated fix as well, not sure where that link is, but easy to find. I am using the hd texture mod and this game plays and looks pretty dam good in 3D!
