Vsync is not required for 3D stereo. I've tried it both ways, no difference in terms of the 3D effect. Turning Vsync off is a tradeoff, the same tradeoff in 3D that it is in 2D.

Game works fine for me in 3D. Its just too slow compared to 2D. What I've noticed is SLI works correctly in 2D (90-100fps @1920) but seems turned off or not working to its full potential in 3D (20-30fps). You can tell there is a problem with the SLI profile in 3D since SLI indicators don't show up at all.

Its not a bug Vsync is forced on through the 3d drivers in any game you play in 3D.

No it isn't. In CB mode, the mode of choice, all games except Homefront are controlled by in-game Vsync setting.
Roller11, i don't know about HDTVs but 120hz LCDs work with vsync ON while in 3D, and it does not matter whether vsync is turned on or off in the in-game settings. What appears to be the problem to what you describe is a lack of triple buffering while vsync is on, which makes the fps either 30 or 60. Anyhow, fps could be much better for us folks who have SLI if it worked properly as it does in 2D.

Exactly, that's the problem...you can't disable Vsync.

Triple buffering would help, but games typically don't have 3x buffering so that isn't the problem. But a game is expected to have properly working Vsync control, Homefront is broken in this regard in 3D. [quote]

Had a blast at the sp today, 3D works good enough for me, infact it is as good as most other games i have tried in 3D, even the ones that are 3D Ready. All good for me on the 266.58 and 267.31. Quite a demanding game engine with all the settings very high and at 1920x1080 in 3D. It will be interesting to hear/read in the next big driver update what the official nvidia 3d guys recommend with regards to their best settings for 3d and compatability. Only been 3d gaming for a couple of weeks now, so, eventualy i guess i'll probably see the faults some of you experts see ha.

I won't be playing it, not at 30 fps. Hope Nvidia fixes Homefront, I spent $50 on this title.

Well, if it was 30fps minimum, I would have no problem playing it. I use 2-gtx 570s in sli, (playing in 3d stereo of course)and that seems to give me around 40-50 fps (with mins in the 30s at times) at 1680x1050 with 2xAA. Not great, but not the worst experience I have had with optimization.
Not too pleased with the shadow issues, but mostly I can ignore them. For the time being though, I plan on playing through Crysis 2 and finishing Metro 2033 for the second time in very high settings.

You must be playing on a computer monitor, can't do 1680x1050 on a full sized display.

Sorry to bump this thread but I noticed that when I enable 3D Vision in DX11 that the performance drops to about 30% instead of the usual 50% from going to 3D mode. Also, I see the GPU utilization drop down 30% or more when I do enable 3D, which corresponds to the more than usual frame rate hit. Running the game in DX9 it appears the frame rate loss is what we normally see.
Has anyone found a workaround for this or maybe even just acknowledge that they are also seeing this? I am running at 1920x1080 on my 2x480 cards by the way.

There's no way to know because of the "Vsync stuck on" bug. The actual rendering framerate is obscured so Fraps or Afterburner or Precision can't report it. We won't be able to measure the frame rate until Nvidia fixes this bug in their 3D drivers (bug doesn't exist in 2D).

This is the only game I have played that I can remember that forces me to shut down D3DOverrider or it will lock up after launch. I guess I will probably just deal with the frame rate issue and finish up the single player campaign so I can free up some space on my hard drive.

I'm going to send my copy back for a refund. If Nvidia fixes their bug, I'll repurchase at a later date. 30 fps is too slow for my taste, especially when the real rendering rate is about 55 fps.
