How is Wolfenstein gonna run with 3D vision. Any specific support like Batman?
  1 / 2
Really looking forward to the new Wolfenstein. Anyone know it it will work properly at lauch or do you usually have to wait for a driver update to get the best performance from the game? Any PhysX support? I just played the Batman demo and I thought it was freaking awsome. Very little issues whatsoever. Im hoping Wolf also runs great in 3D without any issues. Man I love 3D, It's gonna be hard to play Xbox and PS3 in 2D again /thumbsdown.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

I'm sure there will be an DirectX executable. If not, Nvidia is supposed to be working on OpenGL support. Not sure when they are due though.

I will try and find it. I haven't used it for a few years.

I do hope Nvidia has OpenGL drivers before Rage comes out. That will be top of my list.

so if there is a directx executable will 3D vision work properly with it or is it goning to have alot of graphical glitches? I wan't to scalp some Nazis in 3D /spaz.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':spaz:' /> /spaz.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':spaz:' />

Unless Nvidia have done any work with the devs, or got their hands on it, we wont know till someone has a play with it.

I don't wanna be a spoiler, but there is no D3D EXE for any doom 3 engine anything. You might get a crapty wrapper to work, but it wouldn't do 3d.

My statement still works irrispective of that fact. If Nvidia have done work then it still could, as they might have put in a work around, as they just need to program in a tag to tell the 3d software it can run it, and a hack to allow it to see the opengl buffer. It is possible that smeone with a wrapper and some programming knowladge could produce a hack.

Plus inquiries on the wolfenstien forum suggest that the single player part runs in directx mode rather than opengl.

that would be great. Does Nvidia ever come around and confirm or deny what will work or won't work with 3D vision? Isn't the Doom 3 engine OpenGL? wouldn't that make any game running the Doom 3 engine OpenGL including Wolfenstein?

Possibly. But the base engine (id tech 4, also known as Doom 3) mearly uses opengl to do parts of the work, its not in the great scheme of things difficult to slot a direct 3d renderer in instead, especiall as the opengl part required a card capable of certain directx 8 featueres.

Rember just beacuase something uses a named engine doesnt mean it hasnt heavially modfied it. Ive seen later games run vastly superior prettier than the original engine, or run with far less resource grab.

Id tech 4 wasnt even an entire new engine, it is a modified tech 3 engine, it got renamed becasue they realised that the language they were using wasnt up to the job, so had to re-write it all in a more powerfull language, it was this re-write in a new lanuguage not the scale of the actual changes that lead to re-name. Its a modified tech 3 in C+++ rather than C (i think). Many engines support both dx and ogl, so mdoifying an engine so it uses one rather than other doesnt make it a new engine.

There's another problem with Id Tech 4 engine that you don't speak about : it's internally capped at 60 fps... and if you uncap it using a console command, physic and sound are no more synchronized with player action, so it's not recommended...
