I hope NVidia supports this new 3D HMD from Sony
  5 / 7
I see this is shaping up nicely as the "next big thing" in 3D , after "full resolution passive" by LG & co.

-we suffer temporary setback because of a little half bakedness, but nothing we can't solve, tracking, fov, you name it. /thumbup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

The troll topics over avsforum are a bit over the top though.

Apparently the recently announced Crysis 1 for PS3 on PSN supports 3d ( http://www.mtbs3d.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=12644&Itemid=89 ) so with this HMD I would finally be able to play it 3d :)

I Think you can play crysis 1 with tridef3d Virtual3d mode right now. Yes it's half fake 3D but it's just like it will be in PS3 version.

I wonder how easy it would be to put two or three of them together into one. Does 3dtv play or tridef support surround 3d?

Umm.... what?
FOV would be much bigger then eyesight. You'd have to destroy all three of them, by breaking em apart. They are 800 a pop. I am not sure I get what you are saying.

Ok the main thing we need to concern ourselves with is the FOV. Now, cybereality has stated 51 degrees diag, and Sony have it as 45 degrees, not sure if that is diag or horizontal. There is a big difference between horizontal and diag so I would like clarification.

Another description by sony is a 3.8M screen from 3.6M. Again is this diag or horizontal. I hope horizontal but either way this seems quite impressive.

Basically measure these dimensions out onto a wall and floor and it should give you an accurate FOV of what to expect when the device arrives.

I don't think the HDMI processors could handle this anyway. But, if the existing FOV is only 45'ish, then obviously tripling them up would not go past your human FOV. I know, because I frequently sit up straight viewing the 46" Tv below, which gives me an almost 90 degree FOV and i could definitely do triple display with this too and not reach my human FOV, which is an estimated 178 degrees.

As far as taking them apart, people do this kind of thing all the time. It would take someone with the money obviously, which isn't me anytime soon, and isn't most people, but many people love this kind of project and of course the results... But the end result would be tempting enough to do it if it worked wouldn't you agree?

I think your confused here. We are talking about a HMD (head mounted device) each gets it's own screen. You can't just combine three HMD's into one for 3D vision surround LOL. Doesn't matter how much money you have. What would be cool would be an HMD with head tracking and a resolution of 5760 x 1080. Maybe by 2014?

Ever been to a Radio Shack? Ever welded plastic? Ever soldered? Ever used a multimeter? Theres people out their that could combine these displays like this in their sleep.

What did you REALLLLLLLLLLLLLY think i meant to just put three HMD's side to side and try and....maybe, what, push them into each other hoping something might work out? Now thats a cause for lol. No, i meant building a bracket and attaching it to the existing bracket that holds the existing screen, allowing the secondary screens to slide with the existing screen and fit precisely along the edges of the existing screen. If your next question is " Well how would they all fit in there? You'd have to reshape the interior!" My response in advance, is: Kind of goes without saying doesn't it.

@slipstream: Sony said 45 degrees horizontal. When I said 51 degrees I was talking about diagonal.

I've ordered the Vuzix 1200VR. I know they won't be as good as the Sony, but they have headtracking and they are available today. They work with IZ3d and DDD drivers, in addition to the Vuzix driver. Will post a review on MTBS3D in the next week or so.

So the Sony Hmz-T1 will be supported by Nvidia 3Dtv play but my question is when?
Will it be supported and playable from the start or will we have to wait
a month or two staring at our brand new HMDs gathering dust in the "command center"...crying.
