Spellforce has a broken profile Request for solution
Hello,
I've been using 3d vision for about 3 month now, and I really can't get enough of it /wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' /> Especially I like replaying old games in a new glory. Spellforce is one gem I loved back in 2003/2004, so I tried the demo (since my new rig didn't like the old discs) and what do you know... looks and feels wonderful in 3d (high convergence like in every rts or diablo look-a-like rpg and depth at around 70%). Without hesitation I bought the whole bundle including the sequel on steam.
I was very excited and really looking forward to play one of my favorites in 3d.
But to my very disappointment the full game doesn't work at all in 3d! The entire HUD was moving all over the place as I was configuring the 3d. I was dashed. Looking for reasons why on the one hand the demo looked really great on the other the full game had serious issues. I realized that the game had a profile showing up in those big green letters in the down right corner of the screen whereas the demo did not, it said the usual like "unrated game"(?).
That was because the demo's executable is called "Spellforced.exe" but the full game's "Spellforce.exe". So that would be a real easy solution... just renaming the exe and voila. Well, unfortunately steam won't give me the permission to execute renamed executables. The only 2 options we have is to wait for nvidia to do something about it. I don't know how likely this is to happen since it's an old game and maybe not the most popular.
The second option would be just disabling/removing the profile, but I don't know how! I really really hope this is possible and anyone could explain how. I love this game and it would be a blast playing it in 3d!
Sorry about that much text, I did't realize until just now /wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />
I forgot... Just to confirm my suspicion about the broken profile I renamed also the demo's executable to "Spellforce.exe"... Same problems occured. I tried the sequel Spellforce 2, too... Same problems.
