Wow.. I don't know from what hole you crawled out of my "friend".... but man are you a ...misinformed...
First of all I don't really see the need to attack another forum member the way you did
Second, there is no need to ask for 3D TV Play to be open source since it's part of the driver... Is like asking.."Hey nvidia make your driver open source" ... look on Linux with the nouveau crap and how that works out
Third...Nvidia GIVES THE NVAPI which you can use in your application and is GUARANTEED to work with 3DTVPlay...
So, I ask again...what hole did you crawl from ???
(I would like to recommend you to start talking normally to people around here or simply discard their posts if you don't like them. I intentionally attacked you to see how it feels since I really don't like people "who have the impression they know everything when they don't know almost anything")

Cause its a source of revenue.
Nvidia makes money = 3d vision service keeps going. We get occasional games with support. They "profile" games. They invest in technology [lightboost] / that hmd prototype [may be dead *shrug*].
When Nvidia doesn't make money = none of the above.
You are not working with nvidia so you know shit. Let those who work with nvidia reply and save us the guessing.
nvidia staff very rarely frequent this forum. And if they did, they certainly would never answer a loaded question that concerns their revenue. It'd be a can of worms that they'd have no duty nor desire to open.
So, the best you're going to get is a community response such as the one from Likay. So either be polite, or f off. :)

In "fairness" to the OP, this seems to be a fairly common complaint. I recently read some on AVS Forum: http://www.avsforum.com/t/1465745/3dtv-gaming-on-pc-the-good-the-bad-the-ugly/60
I can't imagine Nvidia would give an answer different than what others have offered here. I don't get the outrage in the first place though. It's about the price of one game, and it's a one time purchase. It's a lot cheaper than buying an Nvidia 3D Vision kit. Personally I'm happy to throw them a bone for 3D.

Now, it it feels better for you, i'm happy to oblige. I can take harder blows than this.

You're being an asshole. These people are trying to answer your question. If you don't like that, leave. This is a user forum, you won't get an answer to that questions here - particularly given your question is "I'm too cheap to pay for software, why isn't it free?"
