Crysis 2 in SBS 3D mode is stunning. i pushed the depth up to about 80% and its just amazing. again, im really struggling to see any input lag... the mouse is very responsive. The world just looks amazing, the scene shows a lot of depth and detail despite the textures being very detailed (even with the hi-res pack) One thing that has me stumped, i have to turn the glasses upside down for some games... Borderlands 2. Crysis allows me to flip the eyes so it works fine. Is there a setting somewhere that allows all games to be flipped?

In the 3D options menu there is an option to flip the images. Your using Tridef for Crysis 2? Have you by chance identified any particular setting that increases input lag heavily while having the connection labelled "PC"?

Hello guys. So, can you recommend an ACTIVE 3d tv for gaming using Tridef in CB mode? Some of you say es8000 is laggy in 3D, but some others say they don't see any noticeable input lag. I am only interested in 3D using Tridef, CB is preferred, I think. Thanks

Hey guys, what is Tridef? looking it up on google it seems to be an installed package? @Barrent; so far the only reliable 3D games i can get working at Crysis 2 SBS and Borderlands 2 using Checkerboard. The whole 3D setup just doesnt seem too be easy. so many tweaks needed for games, and the settings are a ball ache. 3D gaming is not something i would recommend unless you want to invest some time to get it all working properly. That said, Crysis 2 in SBS mode is damn amazing. @Libertine; so far i have only seen input lag the very first time i started playing with the tv, i suspect that was more setup related. . now i dont seem to see any. when using Crysis 2's inbuilt SBS mode i also run the sammys inbuilt frame smoother and that doesnt appear to add lag either. Mind you i dont play competitive gaming so im not really watching if shots are 100% accurate... Crysis 1 is bad, Battlefield 3 is not working properly. I need more time to test stuff...

@betc The best way to get an idea of Tridef is to try it. You have 14-day trial to test it. I love Tridef and use it to play Far Cry 3, Crysis 1, Saints Row the Third, Borderland 2, NFS Most Wanted (new) and many others. I hope you will love it, too. Download it here http://www.tridef.com/download/TriDef-3D-latest.html As for input lag, at least move your mouse being in-game and watch if the corresponding action on the screen happens at the same time. I read controversial responses regarding input lag on es8000 when gaming in 3D. Your opinion would be valuable. =)

@barrent Sounds like tridef is on the table, i will have a crack at crysis 1 and FC3 for sure. last night i got BF3 and Civ5 working and figured out how to flip the eyes using the TVs settings. Regarding input lag, im cautious to say that it has no noticeable lag as i know others have experienced some pretty bad delays. When i move my mouse, the game responds at exactly the same pace. from 2d to 3d its all the same. i just dont see any delay. that includes switching off the Motion Plus in 2d, through to switching it to Smooth (max) when playing 1080p 24hz 3D. in Checkerboard the tv disables most of the features of the TV as you have to change the Source input name to PC, again, no noticeable input lag. For context, i dont game online competitively, i remember back in those days that every frame counted, that said i know what lag is when you play a game at 15fps, it makes aiming that much more hard, so far i just dont notice that on the TV BUT i really need to sit down and shoot some things... my model is the UA65ES8000M, its australian, and it has the inbuilt wifi. i think the US equivalent is the UN65ES8000M and the UK is UE65ES8000M. i notice the M tacked onto the end only came about in the last month or so, still i doubt Samsung updated anything without telling us?

Mocca, did you try updating your ES8000 to the latest firmware? betc: Just a head up if you try Tridef: With Tridef, there are 4 main settings that can take some modifying to get the 3D to look the way you want. Only 2 are exposed by default. To expose the others, you must use a copy of the games profile instead of the default one. Thats all.

@betc Hey, nice to hear about no noticeable lag. Thank you! I am a casual gamer, if a gamer at all, but I just love cool visuals modern games can deliver in 3D. It is a matter of aesthetics for me. ))) You know, a couple of days ago I was not sure if es8000 supports checkerboard, so I fired e-message to Samsung support. And they told me that this TV only supports over-under and top-to-bottom 3D modes! I had to visit the nearest store to see for myself this set supports checkerboard mode. That's ridiculous on the part of Samsung support team. But here in Russia such things happen, sigh... Try Tridef and tell us how it goes. There are not so many responses from 3D TV owners regarding their 3D gaming experience, so your feedback is much appreciated. As Libertine said, you may need game profiles, nothing to worry about. Browse this forum http://www.tridef.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=9 and you'll find workable profiles to use. Many games run pretty good without any need to use profiles, that's my experience. Good luck and looking forward to hearing back from you. Cheers!

Hey Barrent, glad this info is useful. we sound about the same re liking the tech more so than hardcore gaming. Hanging to get Crysis 1 working so i can disappear in the jungle. Will try trydef, reading the site it looks like a lot of issues have been solved there. So far the ES8000 has been awesome! very happy with the TV and would highly recommend it. I still cant believe that Samsung dont make functions like CB known and accessible... The picture quality is awesome, motion smoothing is almost too good, and slim build and big screen, well what can you say...

Hi betc and welcome back. Crysis 1 should work fine with Tridef in just one click, you may want to check it out. Samsung support apologized today and admitted there is checkerboard mode.))) As for lag, may I repeat, there are contradictory responses even from the same person. For example, mocca wrote on avforums, "Within 6/7 hours of having the es8000 i was over the moon, i see the issues it has but i'm not bothered, my 3d checkerboard gaming image is smooth as hell at 60fps..." And no complaints about input lag. And here he wrote, "I already knew checkerboard was unusable on a es8000 ... Samsung top of the range 2012 has some serious input lag."

in 6/7 hours of having the es8000 i was over the moon, i see the issues it has but i'm not bothered, my 3d checkerboard gaming image is smooth as hell at 60fps with very little motion blur caused by low pixel response time, the es must be 3/5ms for it's pixel response time. Now i've woke up and it's a new day, i do'nt look at this set is disgust, i do'nt see any issues that will make me unhappy for what i need. ^^^^ Sorry as i can't tell but are you looking at the 3/5ms pixel response time and mistaking this for 3/5ms of input lag, allso my learning is progressive, what i think 's good today may be bad tomoz once ive found a issue, maybe the es8000 was'nt to bad in 3d but i do remember it having too much input lag for me for 3d racing. I suppose people will make there own mind up after buying the tv, i just say what i see at a piont in time ;) I did have alot of sets around the time of the es8000 so maybe i'm confusing it with panasonics dt50? Back to the same thing though, i DO remember there being too much input lag in 3d for racing, its a game of predicting to turn early instead of turning when we should ;) when i had teh 2 es8000 i was playing some game ( Inversion ), i cant remember what it was, i did'nt play much of it as i mostly re watched my 3d films for a few weeks. It was'nt untill i went back to Dirt 3 with a wheel that i realised i had too much input lag in 3d for a racing game, once i'd noticed teh input lag i could feel it in any game i tried, espeically when moving a mouse and the gun moves after. Compare that to native interleaved 3d gaming and i could see how input lag could affect my 3d gaming alot more than a dude that does'nt use passive interleaved. I found a post that must of been around the time i had the es8000. I do say there is alittle more added input lag in 3d but it did'nt bother me, i suppose it must of been okish then for most games, i know i could'nt race but i can with the sammy e6500 plasma i have now in 3d ;) http://www.avforums.com/forums/17363052-post283.html Edit Issues aside, playing abit of inversion on pc with 3dvision at 1080p/60hz, now i see something truly amazing, perfect 3d, high res, minumal blur on fast moving objects or pans, input lag is slightly more in 3d than 2d but i see no ill affects and it's no issue, i'm only ever going to see zero added lag 3d gaming on a passive so no worries, i'll happily swap abit of input lag for the super high res of actives. http://www.avforums.com/forums/17879337-post1.html Hi, For the last few months i found myself going in circles, this cost's money, time and effort. I found all the active and passive sets i tested lately had way to much input lag in 3d to play a racing game, this could be my personal view or it could be fact ? Or it could be because i'm used to interleaved 3d with it's zero added 3d input lag ?

@mocca Hi there, your post is very helpful as always. The point is that I am trying to get an idea of playing in 3D on active TV set. Passive's Line interlaced is good, but I can see the black lines unless I am sitting 2 meters away from the screen. That is why every tiny bit of experience from playing 3D on active 3DTV set is very helpful. betc says he feels no lag. You say you felt some when racing... We need more responses. =) BTW, does your e6500 plasma support checkerboard? It seems it does not. So you play SBS?
Thought it would be a good idea if we could get a thread going with good info for 3dtv gamers to help choose what 3dtv is best for them.
THIS! I wonder how is es8000 compared to D8000 in terms of input lag? Any experience? @betc How are things? Any news about some fast-pacing action in 3D? ;)

I'll never get to try now as blew my budget on the e6500. No it does'nt have checkerboard, i'm using 3dtvplay but seeing as how the projectr i have allso works with 3dtvplay i find myself now wanting games to work with tridef so i can play 1080p/60hz sbs instead of 720p frame packing lol. Tobe honest i'm going to have todo something about that soon when i upgrade/sidegrade again. The e6500 allso has more xtalk than the es8000 i believe from memory using 3dvisions blogs black crosstalk test. It's very hard to judge. Maybe get the tv from a respectable shop so if you find its a set you cant 3d game on you can at least get a refund or store credit. Maybe the dt50 was so bad i have myself mixed up with taht and teh es8000, the post's i've looked at suggest i made them before having teh dt50 so i 'd have to say i felt 3d input lag and thought it was'nt that bad as 1080p checkerboard looked so brilliant but then later posts suggest the added 3d input lag was'nt worth the eye candy. I like to play all night drinking and racing so if a tv cant give me what i need for racing then that tv is no good to me. Maybe i have been over harsh on the es8000, try it and see?

@mocca It is not easy to buy and then return a nondefective TV where I live. We need more responses and maybe videos demonstrating input lag! )) Otherwise everyone will have to go your way - buy-try-sell again and again. I can only share my experience with passive. I think it was a mistake on my part to stick with it. With active I could at least enjoy 3D movies in all 3D shining glory, while passive gives me black lines both in games and movies. Damn it. =)
