3D support in window mode
The dev blog and the release notes for card drivers 270.61 say that 3d support will be given in windowed mode. the dev blog said it would be something we could turn on and off. I am not seeing the support for it or the option to turn it on or off. Am I missing something? am I looking in the wrong place?

Thanks.

It's not a general feature, It works with some titles, notably some MMO's .

It works with the 3D Vision Video Player, too.

Hi

Yes in Release 270 we give you the option for when to display 3D. Please read this FAQ as it describes how it works. http://nvidia.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/nvidia.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=2955

If you only want it for fullscreen apps, select the option "Only while full-screen 3D programs run"

I would also recommend using 270.61 drivers not 270.51 since I saw some reports with 270.51 that this control panel options wasnt working for all users.

Hi,

I have an Alienware M17 R3 and have been trying to install the newest (>270) GTX 460M driver. The installation aborts with an error message about incompatible hardware. I'd be grateful for any idea of what might be wrong since I would be very interested to use the windowed 3D feature of the newer driver versions.

Thanks

Klaus

Hi

Can you please send the exact link of the driver you are installing?

Hi

This is actually a know limitation. This notebook will be supported in the next major driver release.
