3D Vision Breaking SLI in Skyrim
Hope you can help - I can get SLI to work in Skyrim in 2D mode. When I enable 3D mode SLI turns off - I check rendererinfo.txt file in 2D mode and SLI says yes. Turn on 3D, launch game, no SLI indicator. Quit, check rendererinfo.txt and it now says "no". I have no clue why. Initially, SLI was working fine in the game in 3D, no it is broken. Any ideas? 2X GTX 770s, Win 7 ultimate, 335.23 driver Launching Skyrim from Steam. Note: SLI works with Assassin's Creed BF in 3D mode. I originally had started the game with only one GTX installed. Added a second and SLI kicked in automatically without me doing anything - and doubled my FPS :-(

Thanks but that's actually my original thread from when I first started playing the game earlier this week - no SLI info therein.

Bumping this, because im getting myself also another 770, to work in SLI soon, and skyrim is one of my favorite games. Steam sounds fishy though, i never trust any "kiddie programs" like uplay or steam or whatever to play games lol. What crap world has it turned out to, where is the good old " run the .exe file" world gone? :(

Unfortunately a lot of games run via steam with many adults using it not just kids LOL. I use Steam, uplay and Origin for many of the latest games. Using these services is an advantage too as there is always many bargains and DLC's as well as important updates.

I did some rash, heavy modding of the base game but I don't see how that would break SLI/3DV. My guess is there's some sort of conflict between the steam loader and driver profiles - which I've also checked with Nvidia inspector.

The sli indicator fired up originally just fine in 3d though. I did a fresh install of skyrim and it's running great maxed out in 3d right now - but I think it's only using one card. The render text file says sli is off.

Easiest way to tell is to use NVidia Inspector and leave it open when you run the game. You can set it to show both GPUs and monitor other stuff like fan speed, and memory usage. Here's a picture of it in action on AC4 with both cards fully active. You click the graph icon I circled in red to open the monitor. Of PC gamers, the vast majority are Steam users. Do the maths ;) The "good old days" you refer to are the days of manually hunting around for patches, brick and mortar stores with high prices and limited selections, annoying paper-based DRM systems, and a much less thriving indie scene than the one we enjoy today. Steam is responsible for all of these things having improved. Like most "good old days", they were good only if you don't remember them properly ;)

I play Skyrim in 3D and with a GTX680 SLI and the 2 cards are running fine. If I desactivate one card, the framerate is vastly decreased. So it's not the Steam or Skyrim fault. Reinstalling your drivers should fix the problem.
