Metro 2033 Crashing When 3d's Enabled
I've started playing through Metro 2033 in 3d. I started off at Very High DX11 settings which worked great the first time I tried but haven't worked properly since, with weird blurring in the centre of the screen (anyone know what that's about? adv. dof is disabled). Anyway, the game was fine on high for a bit but it's started crashing before getting to the menu screen, or if I manage to get past that point, it crashes about 30 seconds after the game starting - black screen, then minimize to desktop forcing me to ctrl-alt-del to end the program.

Does anyone know what might be causing this or how to fix it?

Cheers

I only just re-downloaded from Steam, I've done a cache integrity check but it hasn't helped anything /ermm.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':ermm:' />

Mine does not work in DX11 either. It worked for a bit when I first loaded it, at least in the menu area, but crashed when I tried to start the game. Since then it locks up every time I try to enable 3D in DX10 or 11. Playing in DX9 with no problems so far.

The beta driver makes the 3d sensor turn itself off and refuse to turn back on /blink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Maybe I should just play in DX9 then... not ideal though given the amount of eyecandy in the game.

I'm disappointed, but all you are missing is motion blur and tesselation. Having looked at screenshots of what tesselation does for you in Metro 2033, I can live without it. DX9 gives you 98% of the IQ of DX11, at least in this game. However, if I could get DX11 to work I would use it.

One of the main advantages to DX11 over DX9 is the speed.
