XL2420TX - 3D not working
  1 / 8
--EDIT---

Removing the power from the monitor and replacing seemed to fix the issue.. my question now is anyone know why it happened and how I can make sure it doesn't occur again X_x?
I'll keep testing myself but maybe someone else has a similar issue with a different monitor..

--END EDIT--

Alright so I just got my BenQ XL2420TX 2 days ago and the first night I tried 3D for maybe 10 minutes and it all worked out fine.

Today though trying it again, it seems to not be working. I see the built in 3D emitter light on my monitor turn on but my glasses don't seem to do anything but signal that it has life with the green light on it's left side. They usually flicker to black when switching to 3D but nothing.

I'm running:
NVIDIA 3D Vision Controller Driver 290.36
NVIDIA 3D Vision Driver 290.53
NVIDIA Graphics Driver 290.53

Monitor at 120Hz refresh rate.

I tried using the latest beta drivers 295.x and the latest stable 285.x with no dice..

I tried redoing the setup wizard but when I do it's not in 3D.. (I always see the triangle and the circle no matter what eye)

Am I missing something here? Can my monitor's IR emitter break already or is it my glasses?

Thanks in advance..

Had tried this monitor but returned it for a few reasons and that problem you have is ONE of them. It would work fine in 3d then the next day the green light would come on yet no 3D until I unplugged it.. EVERY DAY I had to do this.. so I returned it.

my 3d works fine now after plugging straight to a wall socket instead of multi-socket, works after a hard restart too /thumbup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> /smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Started an account here just to say that I just experienced the same issue and pulling the plug fixed it...at least for now. I am going to be really ticked if I just dropped $500 for a monitor and I am going to have to unplug and plug it back in every time I want to use 3d. If it happens again I am going to call BenQ and make someone's day in India a very bad one.

Hey, did anyone resolve this issue? I have the same problem with my XL2420TX. Need to hard cycle the power to get it to respond.....

BenQ wants me to rma the monitors but i want to be sure that will solve the problem.

Same problem here. I called BenQ, and they said it is an nvidia problem because they supply BenQ with the emitter, but nvidia says it is their problem since it is their monitor... I can see where this is going. Seems like the issue is that the glasses are not syncing with the emitter, or the emitter LED is turning on, just not actually emitting anything. I guess we just need to stop buying stuff with hardware from two different manufacturers... I am talking to nvidia support now, will post if they have anything useful to say

EDIT:

So i talked with their support, and we went through all the routine troubleshooting steps. I was advised that the forums are where bugs and defects are "officially" reported, as the admins monitor these. Well, let's hope so. I requested that he send the information to their R&D department, and he advised that he would. So if you are having this issue, PLEASE post. The more responses, the more attention this will get. Just not sure how many people have these monitors as they are not easily found if people don't know about them and just shop on newegg. Also, is there anyone that has this monitor that is not having this issue?

consider we spend $600 on a monitor... there aren't many among us /wallbash.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':wallbash:' /> /confused.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

it's 50 / 50 for me... sometimes it works after restart and sometimes it doesn't until i power cycle the cable

I'm just concerned that eventually, power cycling it will not solve the problem. I think and hope it's a driver issue. Just because the light is on, doesn't mean the emitter is actually functioning. Could be a simple scripting error. Has anyone been able to duplicate the problem when trying? I have tried several things, but it seems like only when I walk away for an hour or better does it lock up. The worst part is, at least in my opinion, it really is a solid monitor outside of this issue, really hope they can get it right. Perhaps we can start troubleshooting ourselves, since it doesn't appear that everyone is having this issue. I am running a single GTX 580, AMD Phenom II X6 1090T BE, Gigabyte 990XA-UD3, 16 GB Kingston HyperX 1600, Kingston 64 GB SSD for Windows and small apps (including NVidia 3d Vision setup). How about you guys?

Tranceholic, I hope you didn't spend $600, as it retails on their site for $500 /biggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

I am still experiencing this problem every once in a while. Is this post where they would like us to air our grievances or is there another "official" place to do it. If this is the place, how about a post from a mod saying this issue is at least being looked into.

They were not specific on where to post, so I'm sure this is fine.

You say "every once in a while". Did you do something to make it better, did it randomly start working, or does yours not do it all the time?

there has to be a driver issue with these monitors (or unfortunately a serious product defect). I have 2 XL2420T and 1 XL2420TX in 3d surround format. The emitter issue has happened only 2-3 times on the TX but i constantly have issues with the T monitors not waking up from sleep and requiring a power cycle as well (totally unresponsive to pressing power button on the bezel)

BenQ wants me to send back the monitors...I'm hesitant since i don't believe it will fix the issue.

I apologize for not being specific. It does not happen every time, only once in a while. I am afraid that I have only had the monitor for a week or two now so I can not put an exact number on the frequency. When the issue does occur, it is only really cured by a "hard" power plug pull. I have not been able to cure this yet, just "fix it" each time it happens by pulling the plug.

I have also experienced an issue where I will come out of playing SWTOR and the 3D emitter does not automatically turn off (or maybe just the LED stays on). The only thing I would have running in the background after I exited SWTOR would be safari (so no 3D programs running) yet the emitter remains on until I turn the monitor off by pressing the power button and turn it back on.

Hopefully this is something that can be fixed in a driver update and not a hardware issue. i really dislike RMA'ing anything as most companies have a bad tendency to send you a used monitor "replacement" that may have its own issues. I probably should not jump to conclusions on that though, this is my first BenQ experience.

I've also had this issue happen to and it seems to be related to whether or not I have my second monitor hooked up. If I'm using them both then 3d vision wont work and if I unplug the second one from the video card it still won't work. But then if I unplug the power cord on my 2420tx and plug back in it works fine. So my guess is that its probably some sort of driver issue with the nvidia card.
