This is good news. I just got my vive yesterday.
All I can say is wow, room scaling and motion controllers are the most impressive thing for me.
I spent most of my time in the lab. The 3D is perfect.
Can't wait to try some none VR native 3D games now.

Not sure about SteamVR, but using StreamTheater on my GearVR works with fixed (and non-fixed) dx11 games by using the new SBS support.For 3d games that don't have or require a fix I just drop in the 3dmigoto release (including those SBS and OU shaders in the fixes folder), edit the ini to disable hunting and enable SBS, set default SBS mode to SBS reversed and save it.
For a game that already has a 3dmigoto fix, (needs to be dx11, won't work on dx9 or helixmod fixes), just replace the dll's in the folder with the ones from the newest 3dmigoto release but don't overwrite the existing d3d11.ini file from the original fix. Instead, you need to look through the new ini and copy out the sections at the beginning and end that pertain to the SBS output mode, and paste them in the old fix's ini (setting them the same default mode as above, SBS reversed), save and done.
I've so far tested this with Max Payne 3 (no fix, although one of the later updates seem to have broken shadows a bit), Hitman Absolution (with DHR's awesome fix, all looking pretty good), and Watchdogs (which wouldn't go full screen, but only windowed mode so no 3d)
I have my moonlight stream settings at 720p 60fps 25Mbit/s bitrate, using my Asus RT-AC68U router with my laptop (780m) wired in (via a moca adapter in basement, max speed is usually around 90-100Mbps) and it is pretty good. Usually clocks in around 7-15ms encoder lag when my S7 is connected to 5ghz and almost no perceptible lag most of the time.
Gotta test more games, but so far I'm pretty impressed.
Maybe someone with an actual VR headset could try and see if the same is true for SteamVR?

I am a long time user of Nvidia 3D, and got a vive late in April. The Vive is pretty mind blowing, 3D is perfect and the tracking is really spot on. I was playing one game today, Time Machine Demo, where you are in a ball with translucent walls and you float around using artificial locomotion. It works without making me sick, I think, because there is always the ref point of the ball you're in. A similar feature to be able to enjoy old nvidia 3D games could be insane... Dark souls or the witcher would be fantastic with a xbox controller and head tracking for the camera.
Anyway, more importantly, is there any news from Nvidia about this? Trine 2 works because it has it's own 3D drivers with the game. Other games don't kick in the Nvidia 3D when on Steam VR. I really love the Vive, and room scale, but being able to play through Nvidia 3D games from within my head set would be multiple times better than using my VG278H (as despite the low pixel density of the vive, the FOV and presence are in another league compared with monitors.

i really don´t get why anyone would wan´t to exchange visual quality into presence if we are talking about 3rd person action. Isn´t it like you being god looking over the hero as he roams around the world ?

You don't understand why someone would prefer gaming on a virtual 120 inch screen over a 27 inch monitor? I think most projector owners have stated, loudly, that 3D Vision is superior on projector. FOV greatly enhances 3D. It's not like he's preferring a virtual screen over a real projector.

My PG278Q with 3D Vision is a much better experience than 3D on a virtual desktop. Stick to using the Rift / Vive for 360 VR.
Looking around the virtual theater at a virtual screen in VR is exactly the same as looking around your room at a real 3D monitor with the 3D glasses on.
The resolution of the virtual screen is even lower than the already low resolution of the Rift / Vive and it looks like crap compared to a 3D monitor.
