PowerDVD 10 adds Blu-Ray 3d support AND DVD-to-3d conversion officially compatible with GeForce 3d V
  7 / 8
Does anyone know why PowerDVD 10 trial version stop playing my blu-Ray after few days?

It says I should play this blu-ray on VGA cable instead of my HDMI.
My system is fully HDCP equiped with Acer H6530 & Samsung RZ.

Beside it didn't complain about it for the first few days!!!??
dont try to adjust it via powerdvd, goto the nvidia controll panel and change the depth on that or on the emitter.

hope that helps.

Yea i get the convergence and it makes me feel sick alot.
Ok, so what depth settings are you guys using that are getting decent 3d action for the nvidia depth setting and hte power dvd setting? I see most recommend lower depth settings while trying to watch dvd's but I do not see what the settings you are using for BOTH of the places where you can set it. Thanks.

I downloaded this program and fired it up.. Clicked on the 3D icon, enabled 3D with time-sequencial display (Samsung 2233RZ), tried a few DVDs (Brass Eye, Big Daddy, Adulthood BluRay) and nothing happened!

I adjusted the nVidia control panel depth setting and it didn't make a different. I noticed on Big Daddy the image seemed to be wobbling slightly every now and again.

Before and after I checked the nVidia 3D demo in the control panel to check I wasn't just doing something stupid and that worked like a dream.

Any other settings I need to tamper with...? Any ideas?

depends on what you eyes and brain prefer.

you could try 100% powerdvd but the nvidia controll panel at 30- 50%. If thats still no good do 50% powerdvd and 50% nvidia controll panel.

To be honest no matter what you do you probably wouldnt watch a full film with it as I find it very hard to watch.

Its not a bad first step for powerdvd , lets hope some updates will help it become even better :)

Ok thanks. I upgraded my vista to 7 for this so I atleast want to see just a few scenes :) I am still going to prefer tmt to this since it supports my xonar card unlike powerdvd. I am not expecting anything much from converted 2d to 3d, but I do hope the 3d blu rays that come out later are awesome.

well just looking at some of the converted 2d hd to3d hd content looks quite amazing. I did go to a show which had a demo of proper HD/blu-ray quality on a projector and it was amazing infact it was just as good as the games that use nvidia 3d vision and that was also on a dlp projector.

I still need to see 3d hd/blu-ray stuff on the plasmas and lcds. The only problem I know of which a mate of mine had first hand on with the plasma and lcd was the lcd was good but only in dark rooms he could only see good 3d if the sunlight was not reflecting on the screen. The plasmas however were better I think it was the panasonic but again if daylight was on the screen the 3d efffect was reduced.

his oppinion on quality was

LCD sharp crisp images

plasma (panasonic) better black sharp picture but not as sharp as LCD.

I did ask him if the acer h5360 would work with 3d blu-ray and he said one of the 3d people said they had 3d working on the acer and that HDMI 1.3 would be ok as it will allow 2x 720p images without problems.

Dunno if that was just a rep talking garbage but he did say that the ps3 uses 1.3 and sony say it will use 1080p to both eyes ?!? but i have heard stupid thing from sony about the ps3 before... you know how it was gonna have 2x HDMI and 2x 1Gbit ethernets.

Only time will tell, infact samsung are expected to release a tv and blu-ray in the UK on the 31st March and it comes with monsters v aliens.

Doesn't the PS3 count as a 3D blueray player?

yes ps3 is stated to be a 3d blu-ray player. Sony say its 1.3 HDMI will support 1080p to each eye so it makes you think that needing 1.4 is just a money making adventure or to get 1080p to each eye the ps3 will reduce the ammount of bitrate to pump out.

I'm new.. hi

I got Power DVD 10, 3D vision, Samsung 2233RZ and a single GTX 260 on Win7. Whenever I try to play a blu-ray, 3D or not, I get the error "code: 0110" and told to switch to VGA output or HDCP enabled PC. All my drivers are up to date, and I don't get the problem when I play in 60hz mode, but why would I want to do that? I was about to run out and by Monster vs. Aliens 3D, but I don't want to spend the money until I know I can watch it in 3D.

Basically.. how am I supposed to watch a 3D blu-ray if I can't watch it in 120hz mode?

Please, any help?

Hi ... I think that PowerDvd 10 is only converting DVDs to 3D for now .. but in the next months they will release a firmware update so that you can watch the 3D blu-ray movies...thats what i understand from my readings....

It'd be cool if it could 2d-3d convert any video source. Will I use it? Eh, probably still not.

I'm more concerned with how well it'll play legitimate 3d source videos. For example when avatar is finally available in 3d on bluray (Christmas time if they're lucky) I'd like to have a nice control over how it's presented. I would imagine whatever control thre will be will be limited, but at least a depth adjustment. Give me that with decent on-screen controls and I'll be happy and buy it.

Great.
Great.

Downloaded it to give it a test, as Total Media Theatre doesn't yet have its Sim3D available.

First issue I found was that the drivers must be running at 120Hz - during the nVidia stereoscopic 3D driver setup I had selected 110Hz to reduce the peripheral flicker, PowerDVD doesn't report any errors and lets you select the device but it does not kick the glasses in.

After re-running the glasses setup and going to 120Hz, PowerDVD now starts the glasses correctly - but the 2D->3D effect was pretty much non-existent on the couple of DVDs I tried.

Switching in & out of 3D mode was also very slow for me, compared to games, not sure why.

My expectation for faking 3D from a 2D source was not that great, luckily, or I'd have been disappointed.
When it comes to 3D BD playback (when it arrives), I think I'll check out TMT before PowerDVD though, it just feels like a more 'polished' product.

Definitely seeing that twisted, left part of screen pushed in, right half pulled out effect. That's not 3D. At least eDimensional used the relative motion algorithm which to me much better simulates 3D. I still watch regular TV through that eD adapter all the time. We'll see if Cyberlink continues to develop the 3D part of PowerDVD 10.

yeah.. I guess I'll just have to wait for now.. I can't even buy the movie by itself right now anyway.

In the mean time, I found a program called AnyDVD from Slyfox, and it allows me to play blu-ray in 120hz mode. It works, and I'm gonna recommend it to anyone having a similar problem
