I think the later date if for the U.K. only for some reason. Here in the U.S. it has been available since the 1st.

Well that's lame. You would think in this day and age of digital distribution a worldwide simultaneous release would not be that hard.... time to pirate it, since they won't let me buy it and play it. Way to go dev, I was gonna buy this, now i'm gonna pirate it, and its nothing to do with money lol.

Now back on topic:
Was anyone successful in launching the game in Surround?

Ok.. Surround doesn't work at all!! The game does not even sees my Surround Resolution!!!! That's because is based on 10 years old engine?!?!?!!?! which is a Vert- engine..according to here:

How cheap can developers go??? FFFS!!

But do not worry! I am working on a fix!!
Oh and BTW the games ABSOLUTELY RULES in 3D!!!

This game looks ABSOLUTELY AWESOME in S3D!!! Personally I would rate it as excellent. With some tweaks it is almost as good as the 3DVision ready games (or even better as the convergence settings aren't locked...).
I only had to turn off volumetric effects, everything else could be maximized or switched on (shadows, DoF, blur,...) - there only are a few games not designed for S3D that allow that.
I only had issues with water reflections (that only can be observed in less than 5 minutes gameplay). Also some blood spatters on the ground are not rendered correctly. You can prevent them by turning off blood in the game settings or use TexMod and my attached LOTRWN_LS.tpf (compare to http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=196204 ). This mod will remove the disturbing textures but still offers "visual feedback" when You hit an enemy /wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' /> The mod will also reduce the original 2D crosshair of the game to some small dots that are less irritating when You use the 3DVision lasersight (Strg+F12). I didn't want to eliminate the 2D crosshair completely as the remaining dots switch from white to red when You focus on an enemy.

I'm usually not a fan of hack'n slay games but the game offers such an interesting and impressive LOTR-scenery in S3D that I had a lot of fun playing the game!

Now that I have tested TES Skyrim I discovered many conformities in style regarding the "nordic" scenery of the two games. LOTRWN seems to me like a "fast food version" of Skyrim. If You don't have the time or patience to spend 60 hours in Skyrim choose LOTRWN with 6 hours instead /biggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
Comparing both games I really can't understand why LOTRWN is not rated excellent like Skyrim. The issues with the skybox and the water in Skyrim are much more present and disturbing compared to the issues in LOTRWN. Could it be that the criteria for rating an AAA title like Skyrim are more generous than the criteria for a smaller title like LOTRWN /wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />

Hmm...whatever..both games are awesome!!! One offers co-op...does Skyrim offers co-op? Nope.... and I love to play co-op with my wife..so from my point of view both are awesome.... That is why I spent time into actually making both of them playable in 3D Surround!

I like you work Halifax - thanks for effort. Thing is that your way is a lot to mess about - but if there will be no chance to get this done by developer i`ll go with your solution.

Question to Andrew: Is there any word from developer in case of Surround support ?

This is what I think, too. My "fast food" comparison wasn't ment to debase LOTRWN. Quite the contrary I even prefer games that can be completed within a moderate number of hours.

Forgot to update this. I don't know if people are still interested in this game or not:)
In case some of you are still interested I worked on a fix for this game. I will give the link so you go easy on Google searching:
http://widescreengamingforum.com/forum/forums/multi-monitor-gaming/multi-monitor-gaming/18147/lord-rings-war-north

PS: No, I haven't update it & it works with steam version if you follow the steps there. I know if it a bit technical but that is it:)

Best Regards.

Hi all, is there any chance that someone with the knowledge you have now (thanks to helix) , will look at this game ? It' a pretty cool game in 3D but there is still few issues like HUD, blood, water, some fog ... I will be very thanks full if someone (maybe eqzitara the prophet =)) could look closer at this game.

I've tried to use the debugger but unfortunately, after looking at 500 pixelshaders and 200 vertex shaders i don't find the one for the crosshair or those who are involved in the issues :( But i' m a noob so ...

I looked at it maybe two years ago(before helixmod), if you want crosshair removed its in realm of possibility. There are never guarantees in this type of thing. I think its one of those hey this game is "excellent" but its not. I think blood(?) was 2D and something else was wrong. Not sure how likely I am to fix that. I cant say when/gaurantee I will look at it but Ill write it down. Just cause I have it and played it a bit. If you want to put it down and play something else and see what happens thats up to you.
