I just found out that my 1 year 4 month old H5360 requires $400 worth of repairs. So, the EDID was borked within a month of my purchase and had to rely on a workaround driver, and now the pj is dead. Couple that with the support system and we have a big lose. Sp is basically non-existent. If you want anything, the avenue that seems to be open is to pay for phone line sp. Free sp of any kind is either incomplete or just not there. Paid sp may be no better. The accent of the dude explaining why I had to pay does not fill me with confidence, if you know what I mean.

This ACER H5360 seems to be notorious for failing right after the warranty runs out. I have seen this all over the internet in reviews. I too am looking for a projector rather than a 27" monitor because of all the quality control issues the 27" monitors have. My initial leaning was toward the ACER but I find that they have problems with that as well as the monitor. I really hate spending that much to have it fail in a few months. One guy had one fail after 85 hours of use. Scratch that one off my list .
Viewsonic has always seemed to be a workhorse, not always the best specs but they seem to be reliable as far as monitors go, What about the projectors?

I'm using a Viewsonic PLED-W500 with an EDID override. The focus isn't very sharp due to a cheap lens and text is a lil hard to read at times due to the pixels being diamond shaped. But it does come with a 3yr warranty and uses a LED light source rated at 20,000hrs. Really great for watching TV, Movies, Netflix, etc.. It's compatible with the VP3D1 but not the 3D-XL 3D converter. I like it for 3D gaming, although the image could be crisper. It accepts a 1920x1080P signal for 2D gaming. Lag input is virtually non existent being that it's a DLP projector.

I just ordered the Optoma GT750E, should arrive soon. Whats great about this is that it supports HDMI 1.4a, so you can use with PS3, Blu-Ray players, AMD cards, etc. With previous models you will be locked into an Nvidia PC only. Got it on sale for $600, usually it sells for $750. But either way seems like a deal.

I have the Acer 27" and for an LCD 3D Monitor it is the bomb and I still use it for games like Starecraft and BF3. But for everything else, the Acer H5360 is amazing, and I'll game on that over the monitor any day of the week unless its keyboard intesive. What ever projector you buy, get an extended warrenty for it. I'm planning on seeing my 5360 die in a year like everyone is saying. Square Trade you can get covered for a pretty reasonable price.
It's passive. The video frames are alternately projected through a polarization filter for the left/right eye.
The passive glasses then block one entire frame for one eye. Have not seen it my self. But in theory it should look just like an active glasses system.
Probably need a silver screen to preserve the polarization.

Also that thing is HUGE. No way that's hanging from my ceiling. Hopefully they come out with an affordable one for home use that works this way.
Not real passive as there is active flicker devices in the signal path.
And these flicker devices from hell usually use circular polarisation to my knoledge so crosstalk is more pronounced than with linear.
If money is no object You can get superb setup with couple Sony hw65/45 for 5-7k€ depending where do you live.
