Stereo with Quadro 3700
I'm having a problem with the Quadro 3700.

Our business relies on shipping out PCs that can run two displays, one monoscopic display to a monitor and one stereoscopic display, typically to an eMagin z800 head-mounted display.
Recently our PC supplier stopped carrying 3500, and shipped us a batch of 3700s instead. When we were preparing these computers to ship to customer sites we realized that they didn't seem to support the type of stereo needed. ('Shutter Glasses')

Our immediate problem was solved by finding a place that sold 3500s and swapping them out. However, now we've got a stack of 3700s that don't work for us. Not only that we've got more orders that we've got to fill, and we're uncertain that we'll be able to continue getting 3500s.

Is there some way we could be fixing this and making it work with the newer cards? Could we be using older drivers that would still support it?
Even making minor changes to our software would be acceptable, but very much non-ideal.

I'm told that the 3600 used in our portable systems is apparently giving us the same problem.

Since our business depends on being able to build systems that display stereo to an eMagin, you can imagine that we're all rather concerned about this.

Thank you very much for any help you can provide.

Gamers who use the Z800 like me are waiting on a company called IZ3D to make a pagefliped driver that will make our Z800s work with new hardware. For a price of course. This will be for new GPUs but I don’t think Quadro is one of them. If I was you I would ask your question here.

The man from IZ3D (BlackQ) will answer your question almost instantly.

I don’t know if this helps you at all but I thought I would tell you what I know.

Oh, there is a chance that the z800 wouldn’t work as a generic pageflipped device and may require additional z800 SDK work by IZ3D and a 20 dollar z800 firmware upgrade to the newest version for your customers.

Fun.

You may want to take a look at what TDVision has to offer. They have an HMD that is supposed to be better than eMagin. Should be shipping later this year but prototypes are available now if you contact them. I am not 100% sure on this, but I think that headset can be run with the Quadros using iz3D's Quad-Buffer driver. There is also a version of the eMagin z800 that accepts dual inputs. If you can get a hold of those units then it may help with the driver situation.

However, I don't own a Quadro so its possible there is a software or firmware tweak that could help you. I am just suggesting there might be other options.

Yes, the 800 x 600 TD visor would be cheaper too. It also probably has better image quality but with a slightly smaller FOV. There is also an HD version coming out with an FOV slightly larger than the Z800.

But the TD visors don't yet have any head tracking.

If headtracking is needed then I would stick with the z800. But if your buyers don't use the headtracking then TD visor would be the way to go. IZ3D has a driver for them now and their future is brighter, well, at this price range anyway.
