Well the Arcania:Gothic 4 demo is out and as the latest drivers state, there are issues playing the game in 3d :(
There is a weird halo effect around a lot of things, which seem to be shadow-related, and I noticed that the torch lights do not render correctly. No amount of tweaking the in game options seemed to help any. You can disable characters shadows but there is no option to disable shadows altogether, which might fix the halo issue. Performance seemed to be pretty good in 3D and 2D, but I am disappointed that I probably won't get to play this with 3D Vision.
I will probably pick this game up at some point but will probably push it behind Fallout:New Vegas, which I know will work well enough in 3D, and see how Two Worlds 2 turns out. The graphics and gameplay in the demo are pretty good so it's probably worth checking out for RPG fans.

Tried Arcania there myself in 3d vision, those shadows are awful!! Heres hoping the retail game will at least feature/support some kind of anti aliasing, those jaggies are horrific on a big screen + projector.
On another note, Arcania kept crashing on startup for me, but some googling revealed a user over at guru3d changed his sound output from 96,000 to 48,000khz... and it fixes my crashes too!

To turn off all the shadows You have to edit the file VideoSettings.xml in the folder C:\Users\\Documents\ArcaniA - Gothic 4 Demo
Change

to

This removes some of the disturbing effects. I also mimized depth and increased convergence to prevent halo effects caused by water. There are still some problems with torch lights so I change to 2D within buildings and caves.
I hope that driver or game updates can fix these problems...

My original display name is 3d4dd - for some reason Nvidia changed it..?!

Errrr, Gothic 3 didn't bother to get itself working with Windows Vista for a long time, and there were a lot more gamers on Vista when Gothic 3 launched than what we've got now.

Even without shadows, there are terrible halos everywhere, and lowering depth + upping convergence gives underwhelming 3d effect, I doubt this will be worth it in 3d. On the other hand, Gothic 3 + community patch works rather well however the sky is in the wrong plane, other than that and with the community fixes, it's a nice game in 3d.
