Removing Resolutions
Playing around with 3D Play and my new projector and I've got it looking pretty good at 3d 720p and 4x dsr by deleting all resolutions but 720p at 60hz. However I'd still like to use the native res of 1080p as well for 2d. Of course I can reset and re-delete but I was wondering is there is way to have 720p as native res for dsr, but still have the option of 1080p as an alternative res that DSR ignores... Anyone tried this already?

Try making a 1080P resolution in NVCP. You can just as easily delete it, if it doesn't work. If your new PJ is 1080P try this for 3D and forget about 720P https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/1099287/3d-vision/3dtv-play-24hz-workaround-verified-working/ What is your model#?

There is a way to do this and I can confirm that it works. Here is a step by step tutorial by Vas22 how to do it. The steps described work for 3D Vision. But I think it should also work for 3DTV Play (I cannot remember if I also tested this). In any case make sure you freshly install the EDID override if you already removed 1080p resolution or use the original edid of your projector for 3DTV play. The tutorial of the link provided is a bit too overcomplicated. But steps 2 and 3 is the key to success. Set your desktop resolution to 720p, disable DSR if enabled and create the custom 1080p resolution like Vas22 described. That's the key how to get it working! By doing this the Nvidia driver downsamples DSR to 1080p but this is a custom resolution now! So it will further scale down to 720p@120hz. On the desktop you can still select your original native 1080p resolution. The only issue now is: When gaming in 2D and selecting 1920x1080 ingame you actually select your custom resolution which is actually a 720p resolution. There is a very easy trick to fix this: Create another custom resolution! Change your desktop to 1080p resolution and based on this resolution create a custom resolution which is 1921@1080 (1 pixel more or 1 pixel less should work). The projector will accept this and you can select this custom resolution ingame now for playing in native 1080p in 2D mode! Keep in mind that desktop has to be set to 720p before starting games! Otherwise DSR does not work in 3D! You can automate setting desktop resolution to 720p with 3D Fix Manager. You can also configure there that it switches automatically back to your native resolution after closing the game.

So Blueray mode appears if we use an old driver which does not offer 3DTV Play for free and we do not plug in the emitter. Also the 3DTV Play license must not be installed. Then Nvidia does a fall back to the blueray mode? lol I just read the whole thread and nephilim told to run the bat. But which bat? There are a lot of bat files in that zip file lol. I would guess the frame sequential one? This one just sets StereoViewerType to 1. This is typically the setting if you want to use Generic CRT / 3D Vision or 3DTV Play (if the model ID of the display is unlocked for this in Nvidia driver) But even if that method works: so we are forever stuck to driver 416.xy? Not ideal.

I've no idea, I haven't tried it. But I was thinking that if there was a specific setting for the "blue-ray 3D" mode in the registry, perhaps it could be added to this guys bat by someone that knows about this kind of stuff. So that 3DTV Play would be disabled and "blue-ray 3D" would be enabled or default. If there were someway to manipulate this in newer drivers, it could be beneficial to "active" 3D TV owners that do not have a checkerboard option. 3Dmigoto works for them with dx11 games, but TriDef is the only option for dx9 unless they use 720P@60 3DTV Play. The same with projectors that do not support Frame Sequential, like the one RustyK was trying to get to work.

No luck for me with the above method... After deleting resolutions I can create any custom resolutions in the control panel. It doesn't even let me test, just get an error message saying my display isn't capable, no matter what resolution I choose... I can work around it though by using two profiles with CRU and using the restart bat, which I've only just realised only restarts the graphic driver, not the computer!

Since EDID overrides/modifications are specific the the individual output port that they are used/made on If all others a DP, a DP to HDMI adapter will work, There's also programmable in-line EDID gadgets, like DR HDMI that allow switching between EDIDs as desired, if you do this very often, it might be a better solution. Search, there are likely others, besides the Dr HDMI
