I would say that based on what they put in the FAQ, I am getting what I am supposed to on the new driver.

With the 3D driver installed, but disabled from the control panel = full frame rates
With the 3D driver installed, enabled from the control panel, but with 3D effects hidden at start-up = slide show
With the 3D driver installed, enabled from the control panel, with 3D effects turned on at start-up = slide show

So if you want to play this game in S3D - its sounds like we have to turn to CD Projekt for the fix since they are using "an incorrect API to check whether 3d stereo is activated with each frame". That sounds computationally expensive to me, and makes sense based on what I see. You Gotta wonder how the game shipped with this problem, and why patch 1.1 didn't fix it. I suppose I will wait a few months and see what happens. There's probably a million quest bugs they need to fix anyway.

* Note from tests above: It would seem I am no longer able to "hide" the stereo effect when a game starts up while the driver is enabled. Any time I start a game, it jumps into 3D mode no matter what I have the setting at. This was happening with the beta driver as well, so I didn't think much at the time. I am curious if that's happening to anyone else. I've done a fresh and clean install of the driver to no avail.

*edit* I toggled the setting a few times, I can now hide the effect at start-up again. Still, so as long as the 3D driver is enabled, your frame rates will die unless you perform the service stop/start workaround I posted earlier in this thread.

So did anyone tested with the new driver release? how is the 3D in indoor locations? Hope I hear good things...
If anyone tested please tell us... I'm stuck at work so I cannot provide an answear to this..but dying out of curiosity:))

Did they fix the 3D aspect ? or its just a "workaround" to be able to play in 2D if the 3D Vision driver is installed and disabled?

Edit: so the result is:
YES, a "workaround" to be able to play in 2D if the 3D Vision driver is installed and disabled
NO, they did not fix the 3D aspect....

Well I'm starting to see a pattern...if a game doesn't work good out of the box...don't bother maybe in 1 year after the release date...it will be playable....or maybe not...

3D Vision Ready game my as*...... the "3D Vision Ready" cake is a lie.....

Apparently they check every frame to see if 3D is enabled in order to render the shadows properly (which by default are rendered in another manner)...this is why we get this performance...
So still gonna play with the workaround: disable 3D vision service -> Start game -> alt+tab -> start 3D vision service => result: normal FPS bad rendered shadows.....

Go look at the notes for the 275.27 release - it says the same exact thing about Witcher 2. I see no difference visually and definitely see no difference performance-wise. What a joke.

Okay the 275.27 are the beta and the .33 is the release version. There should be no difference.
I think Manuel said the next beta version should fix the perfomance issue. (mid june)

It's not a surprise, Manuelg explicitly said that no improvement for Witcher 2 in this driver. This driver was only a fix for 3dvision driver degrading performance.
What's really stupid is the serious bugs 275.27 beta driver had and they still there in WHQL.

If you disable 3D before running the game then you get good indoor performance. You weren't able to do this with the last driver set so I guess this is good for people not using 3D Vision. I just wish that you could get better frame rates by toggling 3D off while inside the game but doing this still gives me frame rates in the low teens inside the tavern. Would be nice if Andrew gave us some news but maybe he is gunshy now.

Some of friends and I are thinking about sueing the developer and nVidia for violation of consumer rights on this game. pretty clear there is a fraud with 3dvision ready label.

I don't believe there is. The game is 3D-perfect (graphics-wise), and runs. I don't think "3D ready" guarantees performance. You'd be wasting your breath (and money) imo.

Any ETA on the next beta driver ? C'mon Nvidia, please give us one, so we can continue to hope...

that's for the court to decide. I dont mind spending some money given that I can earn some. I've nothing against the developer, but it has to be joint responsibilty, otherwise the developer community with shrug the suit off. I bought the game on the day of the release and played all of 15 mins into it before realizing 3d is not what the game jacket said. I never play 2d games since I invested in 3d gear, its just not worth it imo.

So, I mean - the rating should never was 3d vision ready - excellent/good would do with the note like - "severe performance issues while indoors" - that would've been fair warning for consumers. Purchase at you own risk. But 3d vision ready? C'mon

I've given up hope on any responses by Nvidia. They love to ignore my posts, so whatever.. I'll play other games and be satisfied. Whenever the drivers/patches come out - then they come out.

Actually the fault here is not nVidia but CDPRJ RED. They decided to do hacks and workaround in order to be able to put "3D Vision Ready" logo on the box. nVidia only gave them the documentation and APIs to use in order to display the game in 3D. The producer is responsible for not using the APIs right, which is exactly what they are doing: searching every frame to see if the 3d stereo driver is enable in order to render the shadows correctly. As a workaround...stop 3D vision service , start the game and start the 3d vision service....what will you see? out of place shadows.....So if you want to sue someone then go for CDPRJ RED....they ABUSED the "3D Vision Logo" not nVidia...
