I don't know much about this issue, but to me it sounds like a shortage of GPU memory. In surround mode, the memory footprint is much higher, and maybe that's what they mean with "resource constraints".
If that's the case, then the driver doesn't have a choice but to save memory by reducing AA (which, by the way, also costs a lot of memory, in fact for each MS buffer you need memory in the size of the full screen resolution).

Good idea to attach the files of YoZJ right here /biggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
Did some research: I was able to extract the sky meshes of sykrim using FOMM. But unfortunately there seems to be no way to edit the nif files yet (compare http://www.thenexusforums.com/index.php?/topic/456695-nifskope-imports-possible-yet/ ). There are also much more meshes for the sky in Skyrim (154) than in Oblivin (11). So even if it is possible to edit the nif files in the future there might be a lot to do...
It is already possible to edit the texture files. So another hotfix until the meshes itself can be edited could be to remove the clouds, sun, stars and moons by changing their textures. This would result in a monochrome sky similiar to hotfox when using the files of YoZJ.

I just reached this exact same conclusion! I looked at all the DDS images in photoshop. I tried messing around with the DDS files, saving a pure blank one and placing it in the skyrim textures folder. I got some weird results. It would take a lot of experimentation but like you said we'll get close to what YOJZ did. Man I hope YOJZ just comes back for Skyrim, he'll know exactly what to do.
But you know what, since we can extract BSA files (using this app here http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=34) Maybe we should look for the crosshair files? When we're in sneak mode crosshairs still show up on the screen. I wonder which BSA is holding these files?

It's a step in the right direction but night time looks bad still and there is a problem where a rectangle will show up if you look at the ground.

I managed to change the dds texture files so that there will be no more irritating clouds and celestial bodies. The clouds around the top of the mountains will remain as they are placed at correct depth. I only use one of YoZJ's meshes to prevent disturbin clouds when it snows.
The sky is clear but it still changes it's color depending on daytime and it get's grey when it snows.
Here some pictures:

I think you misunderstood me: 4xAA will just NOT WORK with this resolution because of lack of memory. There is no "advanced option" that would resolve this.

Thanks for the work 3d4dd, and sorry you lost some game time (as well as the time you put into modifying the mesh files)
I cant access your download - it says that I have reached my quota for today (never used that site ever!)
regarding the origonal mesh fix, it does a very good job in the day, however when you look at the floor, you see a huge white square above you, and unless you have convergence set at a specific value, you see a while vertical line through your screen when you face a certain direction (for example north and south). the night sky is a mess, but I can live with that as it only seems to affect when you look directly up or at the moon.
Hopefully we can get a working download of your modifield files and i can test them out.
As it is though, even with the original files, its much better.

Excellent work, 3d4dd! Much appreciated - actually it makes me play Skyrim in stereo 3d now. The sky with shades of grey and dark changing depending on wheather has a very nice ambience, too, and now I don't have to fear looking up to the skies and the sky falling on my head, hehe. Really a saver and even without toolkit, you truely earned this BIG THANK YOU.

What a beauty of a game and stereo 3d is almost flawless now (except some odd water bug, on screen icons at 2d, that (mod-fixed, thanks again) skyitems like clouds or stars and some heat effects)... and so much depth possible, wow! Thankfully it is even optimized enough - in this regard that console bottleneck is a good thing actually - to be quite smooth and good looking in stereo 3d, too (using single gtx 580 here). To have a game that does immersion so well cooperate with stereo 3d so good is just very, very good luck, especially considering that the developer openly stated not to care for stereo 3d...
Now, I am all the more on my toes for nvidia stereo 3d driver support for my hmz-t 3d personal viewer... this could be rather mindblowing, keeping fingers crossed.

Just tested your modified version of the meshes and it works perfectly. it even solves the strange white box and line bug.
The sky doesnt actually look that bad without clouds and stars etc. obviously i would much prefer them to be there, becasue it really does add to the game - but you dont really miss them when theyre not there to be honest.
thanks for your help 3d4dd, i was all set to stop playing until a decent fix for the sky was in place. this will definately do until a fix comes up that allows the clouds etc to be put back in the game.

Good idea to attach the files of YoZJ right here
Did some research: I was able to extract the sky meshes of sykrim using FOMM.
