I finally found out how to enable stereovision handling on render target textures. Previously I had to blow up all render targets to screen resolution for NVidia to handle them correctly, which lead to slow downs and extreme post processing errors. To work around those errors, post processing had to be removed. With this fix, post processing works like a charm and only minor adjustments like Z/W coordinate handling are required.
Now after I almost finished Zelda Twilight Princess in stereo 3D without post processing, I discovered this fix. With glow post processing, everything looks now so shiny and so much better. Do I have to start all over again?! /wallbash.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':wallbash:' />
The problem:
By default, non-square surfaces that are equal to or larger than the back buffer are stereoized. Non-square surfaces smaller than the backbuffer are not stereoized by default.
Square surfaces are (by default) not stereoized. The expected usage for these surfaces is typically projected lights or shadow buffers, and therefore they are not eye-dependent.
The solution:
Add a undocumented texture handling DWORD registry key to dolphin at
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\NVIDIA Corporation\Global\Stereo3D\GameConfigs\Dolphin
StereoTextureEnable=3
This enables stereo texture handling on all render targets, which is not always a good thing: Zelda Skyward Sword needs disabled texture processing for level detail textures and shadow handling. For those games, StereoTextureEnable=1 and blown up textures is a better solution.

Thanks, I would really like to get some programmers in the boat and also have a list of 3d vision working Wii games maintained along with recommended settings which is already maintained for normal Dolphin gaming. Almost every game working fine in dolphin can be tuned to look great in stereo 3d, but I have very limited time at hand for hacking and it would be great if someone could create patch files for the current dolphin build and maybe fix the window handling in a clean way. Then we might not get completely ignored by the dolphin community.
I'll change the render target texture handling again this evening to try to fix the image scaling issues left in Zelda Skyward Sword. Also I haven't found a way yet to set the StereoTextureEnable value outside of the registry.

Hi, I just started messing with dolphin. Do I need to compile with your patch or just the reg entry? I had a slew of errors when I tried to compile it with the patch. Thanks!

Hi. There is no final patch at the moment. I could send you my modified sources if you're willing to make a patch (or several) out of them. Here's a compiled build if you prefer just an exe: http://www.multiupload.ch/8SS03EXJM3
The registry entry helps a lot with almost all games, but minor fixes like the water effect in Zelda TP or post processing in Metroid OM needs to be fixed manually. And then there's Zelda: Skyward Sword which won't render some objects because they are being stereoized by this registry setting but have no depth information, ergo showing only on one eye. For those games, a special render target handling has to be implemented.
Screenshots from fixed Zelda: Skyward Sword - http://photos.3dvisionlive.com/Zelda (don't use the reg entry with this).

How is the performance for everyone? I'm using a gtx560 and I can barely go past 25-30fps (35 or a bit more at 640x480 lol) in games that aren't side scrolling. Is there anything I can do to increase performance in 3D aside from buying new hardware?

Kirby's Return to Dreamland has this issue too I think. When he gains those super transformations and when you enter areas that are suppose to be pitch black, as well as certain parts of the last few stages of the game.

-Dual Xeon x5550 Cpu's @ 3Ghz (That is 8 cores...each one @ 3Ghz!)
-GTS 450
I get 55-60fps in 2D
I get 60fps in 3D in a few games (Tatsunoko vs Capcom) but mostly 30-45fps
The 3D is basically being done on your CPU twice. The dual rendering that the 3D does has not been offloaded to the GPU completely yet. That will be awesome when they get more optimization in the 3D plug-in. I have very high hopes for the Dolphin Emulator. :)

I tried your compiled Dolphin.rar but I will get program crash once I start a game. I don't know what is wrong. Was it required to run in any specific condition? Or may be it was my PC config causing the issue?
Also, is your patch merged in to main trunk already? I strongly believe it should be included!
Oh one more thing, are your compiled binary included ICC&OpenMP optimization? Especially we run in Dolphin S3D, we need as optimize as we can get~ /shifty.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':shifty:' />
Thanks for your great work! You are simply amazing! /thumbup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Now after I almost finished Zelda Twilight Princess in stereo 3D without post processing, I discovered this fix. With glow post processing, everything looks now so shiny and so much better. Do I have to start all over again?!
StereoTextureEnable=3
This enables stereo texture handling on all render targets, which is not always a good thing: Zelda Skyward Sword needs disabled texture processing for level detail textures and shadow handling. For those games, StereoTextureEnable=1 and blown up textures is a better solution.

How is the performance for everyone? I'm using a gtx560 and I can barely go past 25-30fps (35 or a bit more at 640x480 lol) in games that aren't side scrolling. Is there anything I can do to increase performance in 3D aside from buying new hardware?

Galaxy GTX 670
-Dual Xeon x5550 Cpu's @ 3Ghz (That is 8 cores...each one @ 3Ghz!)
-GTS 450
I get 55-60fps in 2D
I get 60fps in 3D in a few games (Tatsunoko vs Capcom) but mostly 30-45fps
The 3D is basically being done on your CPU twice. The dual rendering that the 3D does has not been offloaded to the GPU completely yet. That will be awesome when they get more optimization in the 3D plug-in. I have very high hopes for the Dolphin Emulator. :)

That is great to hear! I guess I'll just wait for more optimizations then. Hopefully more people will join in on this project!

I tried your compiled Dolphin.rar but I will get program crash once I start a game. I don't know what is wrong. Was it required to run in any specific condition? Or may be it was my PC config causing the issue?
CPU: AMD Phemon II X4
GPU: GF 9600GSO (G92) x2 @SLI
Also, is your patch merged in to main trunk already? I strongly believe it should be included!
Oh one more thing, are your compiled binary included ICC&OpenMP optimization? Especially we run in Dolphin S3D, we need as optimize as we can get~
Thanks for your great work! You are simply amazing!
