Monitor set at 120hz. GPUs get much hotter.
I have had my system in my sig for about 18 months and can only play games in 3D now. My Samsung monitor is set to 60hz for normal desktop use and obviously switches to 120 when I start gaming. The question is, is it normal for my GPU temps to reach about 70 degrees if I set the normal desktop refresh rate at 120hz? 60, 100 and even 110 hz all seem to have the same stable idling temp of about 50-55 degrees but it shoots up if I set it to 120. I use MSI Afterburner for monitoring and fan control. On a side note, because I have MSI Afterburner installed which I start after I've logged onto windows, if I forget to start it the default nvidia fan control doesn't seem to kick in when the cards get hotter. Is this normal?

Hmmm got almost the same setup as yours, but never measured the GPU temps...

Have you tried disabling SLI ? see if this fixes the problem ?
I'm always using 120hz desktop, but my videocard feel very cool and the ventilators sound like they are running slow...
Can do a temp check ,if you want ...?

I haven't tried it with SLI disabled, I'll check it later. I'm surprised your cards have never overheated without checking on temps Ferry. I've never had an nvidia product fail on me but I wouldn't risk not monitoring them. Can you measure your temperatures Ferry to see if yours are different than mine?

GPU (1) 68-71 oC 60/100/110/120hz SLI off/on
GPU (2) 55 oC 60/100/110/120hz
---------------------------

Hotter then I thought, but doesn't seem like a problem to me...
I have had 3dsurround running at high settings with no problem for a long time...
