Just checked out your fix on helix site Mike. Works great. Btw, I'm not noticing any lighting issues at all in my game and I've done lots of exploring. Maybe its because I am still on 320.49 driver. The menus look OK even at depth. Good job. Thanks again.
Btw, I don't think mouse cursor is fixable as its an actual cursor and not drawn by a shader (Could be wrong though)
I am attaching )hopefully) an image with lighting problems.

Just a quick note on bugs... yeah, this is an Egosoft game. They're like that. Great big games from a very small dev shop. The games show up with tons of bugs and maybe even some outright show-stoppers. Then they patch it. Then they patch it again. And again. And then another patch plus some new content. And then another patch. And so on... for YEARS. Seriously, these folks make Stardock look like a "fire and forget" game company.
I'm not saying they will make the game perfect by any measure (you still can't complete the tutorial when doing the easy start in X3:TC, for instance) but you should expect plenty of improvements.
Regarding the 3D support - they are sold on 3D, that's the important thing. They might support 3D Vision in the future (once they get time) or they might just skip it and go straight to the Rift. Either way, we'll get more sweet 3D!

The very powerful and the very stupid have one thing in common. Instead of altering their views to fit the facts, they alter the facts to fit their views ... which can be very uncomfortable if you happen to be one of the facts that needs altering.
Oh yeah, modders are all over this game already. Nice.

I have found that the lighting issues I have (and in the pic I posted earlier) only happens in SLI. I disabled SLI and it does not happen. I also rolled back drivers. Does anyone know of any SLI flags for lighting (Witcher has one to fix lights shining through doors etc)?

A bit strange as I don't think I'm having that issue and I'm on SLI too but older driver (320.49) shaders high. I did have lighting issues with SSAO on but they were a lot worse than that with one eye being darker than the other.

Interesting, I'll try that specific driver. I am sli 770, what is yours? Am wondering if it's a 7 series card issue. Without this lighting issue I gotta say the game is nigh on perfect except for the markers and need for low convergence. Have you seen any other anomalies yet?
**EDIT - Crap, still no luck for me with 320.49 :-( This sucks, because the performance is so bad with this game, with one 770 I am getting about 18 FPS which is unplayable.
Anyone got any ideas?

I'm on 680s. Haven't noticed anything else. Quite surprised at how good it is. It looks brilliant in space with cockpit. Wish we coud look around though.

Tried a few and nothing works. The fact that it works for BazzaLB and not for me makes me think it could be a 770 related issue You are on dual 580s, do you see the lighting issues I posted?

Hmmm, I'm feeling the pressure now :) I haven't noticed these issues at all, but thats not to say perhaps there are none. Are they obvious or only in certain areas? I didn't recognise the area you posted, but if you can tell me a station / zone to checkout, I'll have a closer look. I'd feel bad if I sent you on a wild goose chase just because I didn't notice something that is indeed there. My SLI bits are 0xC2480005 if thats of any use.
Happy to look closer, but so far after looking around all sorts of stations, nothing has stood out particularly. Do you have SSAO off? I assume you do because for me the lighting was completely broken with it on.

Thx for the fix. Game really looks great in 3D. I just flied for 30 minutes between stations just enjoying the view and music. Shame devs didnt make it what it could be, but maybe modders will

Hi no worries, I would investigate this stuff regardless ;-) Especially since it does work perfect in non-SLI. I tried a couple of SLI flags, but not the one you suggest so I'll give that a whirl tonight.
The area where I see the issues: start a New Game and pick the one that is not campaign (free play or something). You will start off in a very busy area, just fly to one of the stations and as you get closer you will immediately start to see anomalies as small errors in rendering, then when you get close you will see that there is a form of 'yellow' specular lighting that is just wrong on any surface that has it. Some of these surfaces are large cylindrical (like water tank) objects. To be clear I do have SSAO off, BUT with SSAO on I don't get any problems, so it seems we each have a different issue to contend with (does the SSAO problem you have occur in non-SLI?). I would rather have your problem, since setting shaders to low is what is needed to get rid of this lighting effect and that makes lots of things look crap. I am continuing to try and find the shader responsible.

One trick I am using to improve the "flat universe" issue outside the cockpit is to use the registry hack to fool the driver into think your screen is smaller than it really is and so increasing the max IPD you see on screen (that is inter-pupilar distance). I just halve the number in the registry (which makes it impossible to view on screen as is) then reduce separation with the Nvidia hotkey until I can actually focus on the screen again, and I do this so I can just see the farthest objects without getting eye-strain of any kind. It does make a difference.
Look here for full details: https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/519243/maximum-depth-hack-go-beyond-100-/
In summary though, the way to do this is:
1. Start the game
2. Alt tab out of game
3. Run Regedit.exe in the windows "run" box
4. Navigate here: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\NVIDIA Corporation\Global\Stereo3D]
5. Open up "MonitorSize"
6. Select Decimal
7. Half the number (or reduce it by 50%, or whatever)
8. Save the setting
9. Alt Tab back into game
10. Reduce depth using Ctrl F3/F4 or pyramid wheel
The issue with this approach is that you need to do it everytime you play the game. You can save the setting as a ".reg" file and just double click on it after Alt-Tabbing out, which is much quicker.

Here's what I see (modded cokpit though). Last 2 have no cockpit as I raised convergence to see if issue then appears. I can't spot any problem but I am known for not finding the milk in the fridge either :)
If no attachments appear (soon), I failed in my assumptions about how this works ;)
Edit: Well, I failed. How do you add attachments to these posts?
