No 1080p with 3D Blurays
  1 / 2
Hi there, I tried to get Total Media Theatre 5 to show 3D Blurays in 1080p but it doesnt work. It always changes to 720p. 1080p resolution is being shown in 3D setup in Nvidia control center but it changes back to 720p as soon as the movie starts. I had a Radeon HD5850 and it worked just fine. I have a Geforce GTX 660 Ti. Any ideas?

I had the exact issue with Windvd. I think it was either to do with fullscreen mode or not having the software's 3d mode switched on or something like that. It was a bit of a pain to get it to work right, but it did. Also, I remember I might've had to disable the 3d stereo in Nvidia control panel beforehand. Sorry that I can't remember more clear!

Thinkign more about it, I'm surer now it was to do with the 3d stereo tick on/off in control panel and/or setting the 3d res manually with the 24fps for 1080 3d.

Thank you for your help! I did everything you wrote but I have no luck. Stereo on/off, manual setting of the 3d res have no effect. When I entered 3d setup in Nvdia control panel (the one where you have to calibrate the settings) my TV showed 1080p and 3D for half a seconed but then switched to 720p. This seems to be the standard setting of 3D vision. When I installed the graphic card and Nvidia driver 3D in 1080p showed up in Total Media Theatre 5 automatically. But I did nothing special. It seems that Total Media Theatre doesnt remember the right resolution.

Damn. Hmm have you tried changing the resoltuion in 3d control panel to one that is NOT under '3d resolutions' ?? One of the normal ones ? I'll reinstall windvd a bit later when I get a chance and hopefully it replicates the same problem I had and see what fixed it on mine. But I did have more or less the exact same problem. I also remember something like maybe in Windvd I couldn't have 3d mode switched on at first, but switched it on once it was playing. I duno lol. All these things hard to remember. Will post back later when I've had a look tho :)

No probs. Sorry I haven't got back to you sooner. I actually installed windvd before and tried to replicate the same problem as I had, but this time, it works fine straight away 1080p in checkerboard mode, but using the standard hdmi 24hz frame-packed, this time it won't show the 3d at all lol. Rather than go through trying fix that tho, I'll try out total media theatre 5 and report back what I find and if any of my tweaks long ago help this time around with it.

Well I installed TotalMedia theatre trial and worked perfect first time.. 1080p 3d. Hey just a question.. only asking just in case, but you do have a display capable of 24hz yea? By the way, the settings I had in control panel - stereo 3d was enabled, and it didn't matter if I chose 1080p 3d res or standard 1080p res, it switched into 1080p 24hz 3d mode fine. You on the latest Nvidia driver yeah?? It sounds as though it might be having trouble getting into framepacked 24hz, so it's kicking back to 720p . It is in 60 when it switches to 720p yeah?? If you're not already, try the latest beta driver just incase it was a bug maybe?? Oh also try a different HDMI connector/cable! You could be on an older spec cable maybe? Just a thought! :) Hope something helps

Just so u know too, I'm actually on a gtx 580, so probably some different quirks going on. Doing some research shows that TotalM has been known to have alot of issue with the autoswitching on NV cards. Maybe try switching to 1080p 24hz in control panel after it starts playing in 720p ?? And have u tried without auto full screen in the TotalM options? I found this for you too though.. might help. couldn't find later version or anything, so don't know? http://download.arcsoft.com/downloads/digitaltheatre/arcsoft/disableautoswitch113.zip

Thanks for spending so much time on MY issue! When I installed the GTX660Ti it worked just fine (1080p in 3D) with TMT5. But then I installed a Windows 7 backup which I loaded dozens of time before and it doesn´t work anymore. I dont think that it has something to do with it since the OS installed at the time when 3D with TMT5 worked fine was from the same backup. So TV, cable or Nvidia card cannot be the problem. I will try the points you raised when Im finished with work today. One point that catches my eye is the full screen option. I turned it off but TMT5 goes to fullscreen anyway. Maybe there is the bug. I will also try the autoswitch disabler. Again, thank you so much for your help!

Hey, no worries at all, I'm happy to help! :) Also, curious if you updated the driver after you restored that backup last? Maybe an older driver worked better? Well, hope something out of all that can help. Please let me know how you go. I'll try think up more ideas in the meantime!

Dam, hope we don't have the same troubles when we do eventually get to Holodeck stage ! :) Sorry that you still having the probs. It's weird that it's still doing it even with the same backup you used before. You dead certain tho it's the same hdmi cable? cuz anything less than hdmi 1.3c cable doesn't support frame-pack 1080p and would make it switch back I think. Maybe get the windvd trial and try that ?? I've still gottaa look at why now on my windvd it doesn't go in 3d mode at all lol. Tho I might just use this program you're using. It's cool.
