viewsonic pjd 6220-3d firmware ISO: original pjd 6220-3d firmware
Hi,
Perhaps not the correct place for this message, but does anybody have a copy of the original viewsonic pjd 6220-3d firmware ".img" file? Here's why I'm asking:
If you're like me, upon launch of any 3d-app -- every Nvidia 3d-vision release past cd v 1.10 displays that red-overlay message ~"WARNING: attempt to run stereoscopic 3d in non stereo 3d mode. Please see documentation for acceptable modes...". The 3d is working - there's just that overlay message on top of every piece of software I run.
Nvidia tech-support-guy Mir recommended that I upgrade the projector firmware- which I did... But I used the only firmware I could find - which I learned was for a "non-3d" variation of the pjd 6220 (didn't even know a non-3d variant existed...). Subsequently, no 3-d operations are available on the projector's interface-menu -- and 3d doesn't work at all now.
viewsonic's firmware-upgrade process ("DLP Composer") unfortunately doesn't "back up" the existing firmware (to allow for rollback)- and viewsonic doesn't have any firmwares available on their site for the pjd-6220-3d :)
Viewsonic tech-support guy Lloyd seemed to grok my issue & has "escalated" this to their engineering people- hopefully they have 6220-3d firmware stashed somewhere in their archives.
I've spent a vast amount of time attempting to get nvidia stuff to work past cd 1.10 -- every few months, try a new nvidia release, find it displays that red-warning message, roll back to v 1.10, wait some more.
I'm praying Mir is going follow my original suggestion of having nvidia-engineers add a keyboard-toggle to remove that warning message (like how CTRL+T toggles 3d on & off, ctrl+alt+ins toggles the compatibility overlay, etc.).
*** If somebody out there (developer-type) could use their "DLP Composer software" to read the firmware off of their pjd-6220-3d and supply me that ".img" file, I would be most grateful. Please select to "skip the 1st 32KB of memory"- as I believe that this is the projector firmware upgrade-bootloader region itself - at least, when I flashed w/ the non-3d firmware, I selected to skip the 1st 32KB -- as per the viewsonic firmware-upgrade documentation. ***
I'm in touch w/ viewsonic tech support & trying to be patient - but this many-month-long-headache has now evolved into a migrane --- I'd be really grateful if somebody w/ a clue could help me get the projector back to the original firmware (albeit even w/ me stuck @ nvidia cd 1.10 for eternity).

viewsonic refuses to make the pjd6220-3d firmware available for me. They made the non-3d firmware available on their website - but not the -3d version.
Instead, I have to send the projector to them in Walnut CA so they can flash it themselves.
I highly do not recommend purchasing/using viewsonic products anymore - these people have no sense.
Be really careful when dealing w/ Nvidia tech-support: cause they're gonna tell you to upgrade the firmware -- and viewsonic will only supply you w/ the non-3d firmware -- and the viewsonic firmware-upgrade tool doesn't "back-up" your existing firmware.
Wow, even more time wasted - wonder how long its gonna take them to flash the firmware & get it back to me, this is so far beyond ridiculous...
Don't buy viewsonic products, dump their stock - any company this inefficient is doomed to self-extinction.

Ever so grateful - in the 1st place - for nvidia tech-support recommending this viewsonic firmware-upgrade process.
viewsonic tech-support claimed a "professional" reply within a max 48-hours -- 30 of which have elapsed thusfar
I think we're making progress!
tho I worry: one step forwared, two steps back.
So, its the weekend now - and we all love to party! Me too!
let us give (viewsonic &) nvidia 'til come tuesday -- before we release the "bara"-cuda code hounds!
enjoy the full-moon tonight!
