3D Vision Kit compatible with 3rd Party Shutter Glasses?
  2 / 2
ok folks, I received my glasses today from 3DTVCORP but I got bad news. They're defective. They blink WAY too slow to properly sync with 3D Vision. The 3D is there, but it's so slow that you can literally see the left/right blinking or shifting of the lenses (like when you turn your head and the glasses get out of sync - this slow). Too bad. These glasses are really nice. They have a switch for L/R eye and it has the new style USB port for recharging.

Now when I went to contact the seller something caught my eye - he raised the price of 1 pair (or this auction) to $1585.00 The last time I seen an auction this ridiculously high for an item that should cost less than a $100, I contacted the seller and he told me that he had to raise the price so that no one would buy or bid on the auction as it would be better for him than to cancel the auction. Anyhow, I contacted 3DTVCORP to let him know these glasses are defective and asked if I could exchange them for another pair or get a refund. I think he got a bad batch as he only sold 7 of these (at least on this auction) and he doesn't have any negative remarks for this month...

By the way, I put my projector in DLP Link mode and no, I didn't see any red in place of the black, but then again, I'm using a projector not a TV. These work in DLP Link mode, but like I said, it blinks too slow.

Check these out...they are 2 for $165 and Nvidia 3D glasses are normally $125 or more for just one pair. Check the compatability list on their page to make sure it'll work with your setup. Mine is fine, I got an Acer H5360, 1 pair of Nvidia 3D vision glasses/w emmiter, and 2 pairs of DLP Link glasses I got for $105 for 2 pairs, and I'm thinking about getting these.

No pouch. The DLP Link's come with a pouch to place the glasses in, like Nvidia. By the way, if anyone is interested in my review of DLP Link glasses vs Nvidia, you can find it here: http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1304924

So they are way too slow when used with the Nvidia emitter? Let us know what the seller says. He is supposed to be selling a newer version any day now according to recent email questions back and fouth between us.

Based upon those NV1 glasses you're referring to, the PDF instructions I just read (Google NV1 3D glasses) said to select the 1st option when running the 3D Vision set up; the option for 1 computer in the room which gives off the strongest signal. I tried that and now these glasses function slightly better. It's no longer slow sync but slight color shift, flickers and ghosting. It's almost tolerable but the signal kills all other signals in my theater room, including my hand held keyboard I.m typing on and wifi. Also, I didn't pay for tolerance. I'd be perfectly happy buying another set of real Nvidia glasses if the prices weren't gouged.

Edit -

I wanted to try one more thing and the results were better. I didn't fully charge the glasses the first time /wallbash.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':wallbash:' /> So I tested them with the USB plugged in and charging and put Avatar 3D on. Looks a lot better now. I was testing them with the stereoscopic 3D launcher test from the control panel. Anyhow, i'll try these again tomorrow as I'll let them fully charge over night. Even with the occassional ghosting, the clarity is extremely good. If I wasn't mistaken, these glasses should be the 2nd Gen 3D Vision. /thumbup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

He's sent me a pair of NV1's today to test. I'll probably receive them on Monday.

As for the other glasses (the Model N's above) --- they're still a little ghosting even though they were fully charged. Once charged, the light indicator turns off. I'll return the Model N glasses once I confirm that the NV1 work with my set up. That was really cool of him.

I found these generic 3D Vision compatible glasses in a French store Surcouf :
http://www.surcouf.com/tv-video-films/produit/surcouf/9683511/lunettes-3d-supplementaires.html

They look like exact 3D vision glasses clones, and they claim compatibility with the 3D vision emitter except they're 50€ a pop.
Surcouf is quite a famous French computer pieces distributor, I doubt they'd sell a fake.

EDIT : after reading user's comments,
It seems these glasses require to use a special compatibility IR mode, and even then some people make the work perfectly and others have sync issues.
I received the NV1 glasses today. They look just like this, except there orange. I can tell they're just like this one because the receiver on the glasses is tinted (dark), unlike DLP Link's clear. The NV1's work great with the emitter. Much better than the other set I posted above.

So they work just as good as Nvidia's glasses then with Nvidia's emitter? That's awesome. Nvidia just dropped the price of their glasses and kit today, but it now matches close to what other online resellers have been selling them at.

Can you link the ebay auction page where you got the Nvidia look a like "NV1" glasses? I will probably pick up a few pairs.

BTW, when you have your 3Dvision set up, which option to you pick of the three (one with no rf disturbance, one with rf interfearance like remotes, and the last set up like at a LAN party). It is my understanding that based on your choice, the emitter has one of three levels of power. I use level 2.

Anyone else try the "NV1" version of these glasses that supposedly work just like Nvidia's option? I'm probably going to bite and buy a few soon but want to hear a few more impressions.

Well I just bought three of the orange NV1 glasses on ebay. I made an offer for basically free shipping and the seller accepted it. So when I get them next week I will test them and post my impressions. It came to about $61.75 per pair shipped. It's about 2/3 cheaper than Nvidia's stand alone glasses right now.

Does anyone know how the NV1s are powered? Rechargeable like the nvidia glasses? Cell battery?
