Acer H5360 i bought one

I was thinking of maybe buying one, would be using it on a 92 inch screen.

Not really sure if I should wait for a 1080P, it would probaly be a lot more expencive aswell.
Im using the H5360 on an 80" screen. Even windows looks too blurry on a screen that size at that resolution, games are not brilliant either.

I enjoy the 3d and huge screen all the same, its incredibly immersive and im glad I bought it. I'll be getting the 1080p version when its out as well.

Not getting any flicker or ghosting in 3D, its perfect compared to the Samsung 22"

Mines about 100 inch and its crisp, other resolutions are a little blurry but 1280x720 is good, a bit of fine tuning on the projector sorts it.

For those who want to increase the maximum depth, as it is WAY too low by default on this pj, here's how to modify the registry AND KEEP it this way !

1st step: change the maximum separation in the registry

Found it!
http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtop...amp;hl=registry

--- Change limit of maximum Separation:
"MonitorSize"=dword:00000026 --- corresponds to monitor-size in "Stereo Setup & Test" section of nvidia's control panel. Convert this value to decimal and divide by 2 to get inches of monitor setting (38/2=19" for me here). Setting this entry to $a (decimal 10) means you're telling the driver you have a 5-inch screen. Why would you do that? It increases the maximum separation available to you in case you need it. I need it to play ONI in 3d because it's an OpenGL game and for some reason maximum separation shows very small effect. Lying to the driver and telling it I have a 5-inch screen tricks it into making maximum separation half of the screen's diameter since you're eyes are about 2.5 inches apart.

It can be found under HKLM\Software\Wow6432Node\Nvidia Corporation\Global\Stereo3D with regedit (minus the wow6432node for 32bit setups i believe)

2nd step: prevent nvidia from reverting the registry back to its default setting

The problem is that the newer drivers for some reason always fall back to the default setting when you fire up the test application (or any other stereo app).
To prevent this, we just need to alter some permissions in the registry:
If you go the branch containing the settings (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\NVIDIA Corporation\Global\Stereo3D) then right click, navigate to "permissions"/"advanced" select "System" then "edit" and choose "deny" to "set value" - hit OK and you're good to go and aplly all of the other color schemes mentioned above.

Hope this makes you all as happy as it made me!

Many thanks, can't believe I didn't think of changing the permissions as I have done this on other things to prevent the system from touching them as well. Now I can finally have proper depth and popout without a ridiculous amount of convergence, which brought in its' own problems. There's just 1 little issue; Unlike what's said in the post where you got the permissions trick, I can't seem to save my settings. When I press ctrl+F7 it now gives a number for my convergence instead of saying settings saved. And when actually disabling and enabling stereo with ctrl+T the settings are reverted to what they were before. Not really a big deal, got quite fast at setting my preferred settings.

BTW, I wondering, is every H5360 owner's default monitor size set to a decimal 220? Where did nvidia get that value from anyway? Is it the size of the screen at the projector's optimal throw range or what? It seems kind of silly that it isn't configurable these days as people are not all gonna have the same screen size with a projector, unlike the case with a monitor. And even then, I'd like to decide my maximum depth myself.

To all of you H5360 owners, have you compared picture quality for BluRay playback against higher end projectors?

The projector is so cheap, I wonder if the PQ is as good as other, or this Acer PJ would only be good for gaming, no good movie watching?

I have a large Barco Projector (CRT Analog) and I MAY consider switching, but I don't want to sacrifice PQ for 3D gaming only...

Thanks!

First shot taken fr. Baraka blu-ray the rest are mkv files. Noticed a bit fuzziness on the subtitles otherwise it can deliver the best HD PQ for the price.

dts_HD,

how do you get your blacks so black with this projector? What setting are you using for degamma? I can get pretty decent blacks with 6, but then I'll lose a lot of shadow detail.

What screen are you using? Do you have black or dark colored walls in your home ;)?

You're right about the deep blacks vs. shadow detail but maybe you can try this settings:

Wall color - White
Brightness - 51
Contrast - 51
Color Temp - 1
Degamma - 6
R - 90
G - 120
B - 120

I have a Da-lite Model B screen

hi,
a plan to buy this H5360, but will see it before.
i find a people who has this Acer, but he say its bad, not working in 3D mode,
and want to send back so service. /confused.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
He has 2x GTS250 cards in SLI +latest drivers.
Tested only with hdmi cables, even with the official enclosed one.
He says windows doesnt recognize as a 3d display, only as a
'Digital Display' and no 120Hz option.

Whats the problem? Maybe a driver issue?

He also has a Samsung 2233RZ, that works!

Thanks for tips!

Ordered this projector at ShopBLT a couple days ago thanks to a tip from here (I live in the US). Once I get it here I'm gonna see how big of a screen I can handle in the small room it will be in (7-8 ft from wall at most because I want it on the coffee table), then I'll take a look at some screens at Newegg. These next few weeks are gonna crawl in anticipation.

Hi Guys! Great discussion you have here - really informative .. I just have a few beginners questions:

1. How will the Acer work with Xbox 360/Wii/Playstation 3? Will you have to use the nVidia glasses or what will happen? I tried googling this, but couldn't find a word about it.

2. From what i understand, it "converts" normal 2D sources, to 3D by adding depth right? Which means nothing will pop out in your head, but you will get the sense of depth?

3. With regards to the Playstation 3 getting a FW upgrade, i should be able to view 3D Bluray on the Acer right?

4. How is the picture quality without 3D? I have a Panasonic 50PZ85 right now, anyone care to do a comparison with their telly?

Im really thinking about purchasing this, since it so cheap.. I would love 1080p but it seems wayyy to expensive .. So i thinking about getting this and then upgrading in the future. But apparently Optoma is coming out with a HD67 which should have native 3D support from nVidia (read that somewhere). Anyone care to do a comparison on Acer vs Optoma - somehow i get the feeling that Optoma is a better buy quality wise? Last thing, if anyone can point me in the direction of a site which holds information on all this stuff, like really basic info on how it works etc, that would be awesome.

Thanks guys!
