It releases next week. Any bêta testers out there (if there was such?). Hopefully it is no worse than Total War Shogun which finally got a Tridef fix. Never was any good with Nvidia.

They say it will be scalable. They have never supported 3D but because they always support Dx9 it should be DDD fixable. If it is DX9 I will remove the dodgy 2D elements. I thought my Shogun 2 Helix wasn't too bad. The Battles were very playable.
I bet the explosions, smoke and fire effects will be 2D again.
Will you take some screenies of Shogun 2 in DDD 3D please? I would like to see what they are like.
Thanks

Ok i'll see if I can fire the Tridef version up for a screenshot or two. The main thing of Tridef versus the Helix fix is that the dodgy 2d elements of fire smoke, province lines and rivers, etc all work somewhat reasonably with Tridef versus being removed with the Helix fix. Shadows as I remember had to be off.

Thanks mate, I would love to see it. My Helix fix was very basic! I only know how to remove shaders not fix them. :/ I felt bad about having to remove the flames explosions smoke but I though you could see the flame arrows and building shimmered and smoldered. I would love to see it in all its explody glory though!
I don't care about shadows. With Med2 I noticed that when you played with shadows turned off the weather was never blazing sunshine; it kind of went hazy sunny to rain/snow/night never raw sunshine which made it look way more natural playing without shadows. Have they also managed to push the city names into 3D space on the strategy map?
Also is your monitor active? I have been considering getting TriDef for ages but don't know if it would run OK on my monitor with 3D Vision running in the background. How is your system compared to mine?

Tridef tends to make some games very slow. My comp can handle N:TW with all bells and whistles in 3DV without the least bit of choppiness but kinda chugs on S:TW 2 with the Tridef driver. Much better than nothing, of course, just not as good as 3DV (when it works as it's supposed to). It would be much, much better to have a 3DV solution for R:TW 2 but I guess that beggars can't be choosers :(
Frankly, I'd pay good money to someone who could provide a reasonable fix to RTW 2... (assuming it needs it, which it probably will).

Yes tridef have shadows and posteffects fixed on TW:S2, but it's unplayable with tridef for me. I wish there is a way to dump the edited shaders by tridef to use later with helix/3d migoto ;)
I have the dx11 unedited shaders if someone known how to fix a screendepth on each eye shader i share it lol. I have even the source code of the shaders what CA shared so it's fixeable by someone with shader programming skills even without dll's hooks just using mods.
For TW:R2 i expect the same problems, if you watch the sea battles video you can see how the no depth problems are going to be there again, and almost sure the multi pass shadows are going to need a fix too. Just really hope this time we get a 3dVision community fix.

Yes Tridef version is slow, hdmi resolution only (vs DVI), laggy mouse. Would definitely prefer an Nvidia solution. I never realized that andysonofbob had done an NVidia fix. I'll have to try it. It may be better than the Tridef tradeoffs even with turned off textures. Somehow Tridef managed to get them all to work. Oh including shadows I see from my recent test. Am trying to attach Tridef pics but NVidia website goes into "scanning please wait" on the pics and never seems to deliver them. Anyway if I got them up you would see that all the effects seem to be fully operational except slow. (City names and labels are still 2d) . It is playable in Tridef for me but not desireable. Also willing to pay for a NVIDIA solution. Really looking forward to Rome 2 but hoping it is not a dud.

So, to answer my own question, the game is not as disastrous as it could have been but does need some work. NVidia rates it as "good" but I'd say "fair" is more accurate. On the campaign map, the main issues are rivers, province borders, and some city graphics. On the tactical map, it's mainly smoke and flaming projectiles, and some weird blurriness in the terrain when the camera is pulled back. I've seem much worse games that got fixed by the 3D gods on this forum. I'll humbly pray to them now, hoping that one hears my prayer :)

Well that's a swine!
I can't get the Helix Debug to work. I have tried a couple of versions. I have put it to shader 3 which is usually DX9
The debug sets up the dump folder but I cannot see the red text. I tried to cycle through and dump some shaders but nothing happened.
:(

That truly sucks... The glimpse of pure 3D joy you get even now when you activate 3DV on the strat map hints that the game would look truly awe-inspiring if it could be fixed. The mountain peaks alone bring tears to my eyes :)

Make sure you are actually in DX9 [Afterburner]. Make sure installed in right folder. Alt tab in game. Try to delete D3D9.DLL and it should say in use. Try a dx9settings.ini with...
[General]
useendscene = false
also try true. I forget what the default is

OK I have installed afterburner but still can't tell if it is DX9 or greater. [Dunno how to do it - have looked for different OSD options]
I have tried to remove the d3d9.dll and it wont let me.
I also tried the useendscene both true and false.
Helix mod hasn't worked on some games for me e.g.: Sins
@Gapper 4
Could you confirm that you are able to play in DX9 mode and saying how please?
Thanks!
