Anyone knows if the 3D Vision 2 Kit is being discontinued or is it just temporarily out of stock? Newegg and TigerDirect are out...

Don't know about it being discontinued, but in my local computer store I can find an Acer 27inc 120hz 3D Vision 2 ready display on sale (the updated one) with 3D Vision 2 classes for 299 euros, which I find very cheap, especially considering it has the 3D Vision 2 glasses included. This makes me wonder if they're trying to get a rid of this stuff because it's being discontinued. Also no word from Nvidia about 3D Vision 3 or anything so i'm guessing that might sadly be the case.

I suppose we could hope they'll come out with a new G-Sync compatible kit that would do variable refresh rate between 50-60fps in 3D (100-120hz). But who are we kidding here. Nvidia has taken 3D out back and shot it in the head. Real shame.

Newegg/TigerDirect should be getting more in stock soon, checked up on this to confirm.

OMG! an actual Nvidia moderator in our 3D Vision forum!!
Hi Josh!
Any chance of an update on what's been going on with the state of 3D Vision???
I too was roaming around Newegg the other day, and there seems to be a new ASUS monitor for sale - I forget the model number, but it's a 27," has a curvy bezel, and supports Lightboost. Only $299. I paid $379 for my 27" a month ago, and it didn't even come with glasses! The disappointing thing is (besides having paid so much for the one I got) is that the 3D support along with Lightboost is barely mentioned. It's almost a footnote in this monitor's specifications. In fact, I don't recall seeing a mention of 3D Vision at all. But someone asked about this in the questions section. That's the only reason I knew for sure if it was 3D Vision Ready. - Great marketing strategy.

This is indeed worrying, seeing these monitors going for such low prices. It's as if the retailers know, these products are going to be discontinued soon and hence they're selling them out for cheap, just like the one I posted as well as yours, although I'm probably going to get the monitor + glasses I mentioned as I'm still using 3D Vision 1 (wired) glasses and a 23 inch 3D Vision 1 monitor.

OMG! A "Green post" in the 3DVision forum? (getting back on chair)
My guess would be is that they are indeed clearing these models out to make room for newer ones with the newfangled X-Sync functionality built in.

Absolutely. The fact these 144hz monitors are being cleared out doesn't bother me. No one is buying them once the G-Sync version are released. But it's scary when the actual kits start becoming scarce. Hopefully it doesn't mean anything and it was just a random coincidence two stores were OOS.
Yay, at a Green post showing up. Never thought that would happen again.

Yep. 3D Vision 1 for me as well. I was using a 23 inch monitor until it broke a couple months ago. STILL going around with ASUS about replacing it. Had to send it across the country for repair, and they sent it back to me still broken. Knuckleheads.

Since the new G-sync monitors will operate at 144 HZ, and seem to be generating quite a bit a bit of hype, hopefully this will naturally increase the number of 3d vision users. Having a 3d ready monitor will allow a lower barrier of entry for 3d vision, and also we will not have to push 120 fps to get good frame rates in 3d if this technology works as advertised.
