3DTV Play and Checkerboard/Interlaced/Frequency modes most 3D TVs support it, like SAMSUNG LA46C750
Will 3DTV play be patched to support checkerboard, side-by-side, etc. ? for a 40$ utility I'm sure something can be arranged.

My Samsung LA46C750 supports 3D in the following modes:

Side-by-side
Top-bottom
Line-by-line (horiz. stripe)
Vertical stripe
Checkerboard
Frequency (according to the manual: "displays the images for the left and right eye alternately in frames.")

Currently 3DTV Play decides which mode it will use for itself, usually HDMI-spec side-by-side. Will other output modes be supported in the future? after all, 3D vision has the ability to output checkerboard, so why shouldn't 3DTV Play have it?
Very high quality 3D images can be rendered with checkerboard 3D, and in 60Hz 1080p, instead of 24Hz, which is impossible to use with games, not to mention 720p 60Hz on a 1080p display.

Pro tip: to enable stripe/checkerboard/frequency 3D processing in the TV, open the Menu->Input->Edit Name and change the source's name (usually HDMI1/DVI) to PC or DVI PC. The TV will go to (nearly) zero-lag mode and disable some picture enhancements (very similar to Game Mode). To go back to normal change the name to any other option from the list, such as Game or Camcorder, anything that doesn't include PC in its name.

Without changing the source's name to PC, only Side-by-side and Top-bottom processing options are available.

They are working on it.

Ok nVidia, if Duke Nukem Forever can be put out in under two decades, I have all the confidence in the world in your ability to have the 3D Play/Checkerboard update out before 2015!

You can do it! I just know you can.
