Bloody,

May I ask you to have a go at Inverting the PJ please.

As mentioned, I seem unable to get it to work inverted.

cheers.

pele01, do you mean the 3D invert or the normal image inversion function of the projector? The first one seem to not change the images for left and right, but the other one is Ok after I turn the projector upside down. More of my impressions here: http://3dvision-blog.com/?p=338

Hi Bloody,

Great review firstly....most informative.

I have not found or tried another invert other than the 3D Invert, which seems to be ineffectual.

I will have a look tonight at the "General Settings".

also, as per your blog review, i dont get much pop out with games...reat depth but not much in the way of pop out.

I find if i "over egg" the convergence then i start to get headaches on a screen that size.

Look forward to profiles created with larger screen in mind.

Not found much in the way of 3D movie content which is a bit of a dissapointment.

Thanks again - Pele.

Just the overall cable length was the issue. I tried a Belkin extender and 3D Vision did not like it. Although the 3D Vision emmiter was lit up it did not send out the right signal to the glasses.

One of the best experiences I had with this projector (when i got it working) was with the geoforms demo by nividia. Link it's only 17mb

On a 100" screen the popout was pretty amazing with multi coloured blobs appearing at least 3ft from the screen.

K6dtx....it must be quite nice to be your grandson!
My grandad also had a projector but it would only play cine films!

Yep, I have the same problem with GeoForms... it switches automatically to 60Hz, although the desktop resolution is set at 120Hz and the config does not allow refresh rate to be set, only resolution. and it tries to enable stereo, but a second later it just displays the no signal screen of the projector and I have to quit the app.

I tried messing up a bit with the convergence in Tomb Raider and X-Blades and the results were great, much, much more impressive depth/pop-out effect than with the default settings, so it seems I suspected right - the default profiles are made for 22" 120Hz LCDs only... :)
What is this, you have to use the supplied 6 foot cable? What, is your pc supposed to be dangling from your CEILING MOUNTED projector!? If anyone finds a long cable that works, please let me know.

Unfortunately, I am without my PJ for 3 weeks or longer, since it is RMA'd, now I hear its cable problems? I wonder why this is the case anyhow. 120hz worked on my desktop with my cable as it was, what is the difference with running a game.

I am wanting to do more testing, but I know I had the same issues when I used the cable provided, even with two separate computers. Blue Ghosting and XGA sync issues.

Oh well, the BS continues.

Im curious as well, does the 120hz mode on the 6211 give a lower lumens output?
Ok, I'll jump in about this cable issue. I had the same thing happen to me. I have the PJD6220-3D and the cable that came with it was WAY to short.

I found one in my garage that was longer and wanted to use that. But what I found was that I lost my option for 120hz. The highest I could go was 80hz.

I tried everything before I returned the projector and tried the one that came with it again. My 120hz option was back! This killed me.

I then went to CDW and purchsaed this cable. - http://www.cdw.com/shop/products/default.a...LPROD%3a1657149

This cable works great! 25ft which is long enough and also has the cool ends on it that can twist.

Hope this helps...

That's odd, it's one of the few programs that actually worked ok for me.
This might be worth trying....go to nvidia control panel....go to 3d settings and run the 3d demo (the one with the 3d logo)
It should ask you to set the resolution and refresh rate and then just underneath that there's a tick box that says something like "use this refresh rate for all games" tick that one and try.

I think i might have also been using some application for forcing refresh rates but not sure that this did anything different to the above.

BaDvs3viL....thanks for the info on the cable, i'm so tempted to buy this PJ again....at least now i know i can get it in the UK.

Bloody....a complete new set of profiles for projector users would be a lot of work! shame we can't submit out own.

dogcam, I suggested to Andrew that we need something to differentiate small CRT/LCD displays, bigger DLP TVs and even larger projected screens in the driver... something like a coefficient multiplier that is set depending on what you choose as display type to make it work with the same profiles, but providing good results no matter what you use. He said they are looking into it...

I still haven't been able to try 3D Vision on DLP TV, but on a large ~100" projected screen with the Viewsconic PJD6211 with default profiles the games do look a bit flat, and after some tweaking of the convergence they start to look really, really amazing... ;)

Ok!

I actually got the PJD6220 working half decent. I don't have a 25 foot cable, so I'm still having sync issues, so ill have to look into how to set up things a bit differently to get the PC to reach. Still not the greatest PJ in my opinion, even with the short cable it has issues. Maybe a firmware/driver update will make it all work perfect.

BLUE GHOSTING SOLVED!

Change the color setting (in the "picture" menu) down to LOW (there are 3 settings) or HIGH - Not mid (default)
Take your contrast and brightness down a bit if necessary as well. Blue ghosting should go away!

Im still having a hell of a time syncing certain games, but BadVsEvil suggestion of the factory defaulting does work, although it is a lame workaround for something claimed to be 3D ready. Everytime I factory default I have to change the color settings again. Ill look into getting Nvidias color settings to work instead.

Im gonna order that cable he got as well, and hopefully all will be better. Im still not apologizing for my loud ranting, the only solutions came from us as a 3D community - with very little help from Viewsonic. Thanks everyone for testing and all.

Anyways, Ill use this PJ for a while, at least waiting for a picture perfect HD solution to come along.

Happy 3D Gaming ! B)

Glad you got it working in the end, of sorts.

Still waiting for VS to get back to me from about 4 weeks ago. (thank god for the end user forums as you say !!!)

Whilst the "Depth" is pretty good,...i dont get any pop out really, and as i mentioned, if i over do the converegence the images seperate to much for the glasses to render as a single image, and i get blinding head aches.

Still, i'm hope hopefull that titles and movie content will not be to far away....

The Trials and tribulastions of being an Early Adopter i guess !!!!!! /thumbup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> /yes.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Bit of an update, just lowering your contrast and blue color temperature does the trick. Just play with these settings and all should be fine.

Ok, now Im starting to wonder if the sync issue is in fact a driver issue. Tell me why certain games work fine at (Richard Burns Rally) 1024 x 768 at 120, while others don't (Burnout Paradise) I dont know, the more I test, the more I detest this PJ.

Need that cable to put this issue to rest. Ive tried the factory default trick but it doesnt seem to work most of the time, which probably is the cable. I will take the PJ down and test with the short cable tommorow.

Ok more testing results

XGA 120hz confirmed working (50 foot cable) /thumbup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

TMNT
Richard Burns Rally
Dream Aquarium
Flight Sim X
XBlades
Street Fighter 4
Left4Dead
Audiosurf
Nvidia Video and Picture Player

Not working in XGA 120hz /thumbsdown.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Most Wanted
Devil May Cry
Mirrors Edge
Prototype

Now I have a headache. And my thumb is sore from changing color values and factory defaulting.

Early Adopter Migraine indeed. I have to say, it is odd how some games work flawlessly and others dont work at all. How could this be a cable issue? I guess Ill find out tommorow when I test Most Wanted, Devil May Cry and Mirrors Edge tommorow.

If they work, its the cable. If not, Id have to say its a driver issue. And seriously, what is up with this blue ghosting in one eye anyways! I hate color adjusting to get rid of it, and it makes the picture not look so good.
