Advice needed for 3DTV with checkerboard support and low input lag
Hi all,
Please, recommend a nice 3DTV (or a projector if such exists) with 1080p checkerboard support and low input lag.
I've been waiting for big true 1080p60 3D display/projector (accepting and displaying such signal) since 2009, but it obviously won't happen with reasonable price tag anytime soon (if ever), so I'm giving up on that for the time being and I'm planning to go with the next best thing - 1080p checkerboard.
What I'm looking for is a 50+" display with 1080p checkerboard support, low input lag in that mode, and as least crosstalk as possible.
It doesn't have to be a recent model, I'm willing to buy a second hand unit as well. I stumbled upon an ad for 51" Samsung E6500 plasma, but somebody on the forum said that when the checkerboard mode is activated, the input lag is very high, making this model unsuitable for 3D gaming.
I also would like it to be very good as 2D display (decent if not reference-grade black levels (for use in completely dark room), motion resolution of 1080 lines (or very close), 4:4:4 support, high enough pixel fill-factor for viewing from 1m away, etc.; if it's a projector - no rainbow effect, minimal screen-door effect)... but I'm willing to make some compromises, obviously.
So I'll be happy and grateful if you guys share your observations and first-hand experience with such 3DTVs (or projectors).
Thanks for your time

I have yet to find a Projector that works with Checkerboard. I've tried to find a workaround to enable it on my projector with no success. It seems to display the format but there is no sync signal to the glasses via Nvidia's emitter nor if using DLP Link Glasses.
DLP Projectors do offer one of the best lag free experiences in gaming imo.

Samsung ES8000 65", checkerboard is exceptional. very low input lag 3D mode. you can also run 1080p framesequential at 30fps per eye, but checkerboard is far superior

I have a Benq w1070 projector, an ASUS VG248QE 120hz 3D monitor, and a Samsung 55ES7500 3DTV with checkerboard. The Checkerboard is the cleanest experience. Lag isn't bad with Vsync off. It's clearer than even the 120hz monitor due to pixel inversion artifacts with seem to be present in all lightboost 3D monitors. You really notice the difference between a 720p projector and a TV with checkerboard.

Thanks for the input, guys!
Fortunately, there are still some units of the 2012 ES series left for sale here and there, so I'll consider them. But first, I'll try testing some 2013 and 2014 (F and H series) models in a store, to see if they still have the checkerboard option available for a "PC" labeled HDMI-1 input.
I'll report back if I find something interesting.

i think the F series does, its called pixel mode from memory, but as you said, check this out in store. its kind of a big deal if checkerboard doesn't work...
also the F series (not sure about h) is supposed to have brighter 3D goggles 30% or so? i know sometimes when playing super dark games like Metro last light, it can get dark. but only really an issue like 2% of the time...
get the 75" F8000! i wish there was a 75" out when i got mine.. you just cant get big enough. though i suppose oculus is going to blow all of this technology away in a year or so.. big screens/projectors will no longer matter when you can literally step into the game with a VR headset.
personally, i am madly saving for 2 x 990GTX vid cards (20/14nm?) and the oculus release kit (2015?). oculus is gonna need some series horse power to run games at 1080p (hopefully 1440p) with a decent amount of world objects.
Play Crysis 1 in 3D and tell me the world doesn't look a bit barren... once you go 3D suddenly that massive amount of foliage looks a bit sparse, i can only imagine that oculus will add to this given the larger screen as its closer. i also think they will try and bump the resolution up from 1080p. Maybe this is where 4k res will finally be worth while..

I can't recommend enough examining fill factor when selecting a 3DTV, I think many are pretty high these days, but Sony's were very low, at least, the last time i checked, more than a year ago, only their very highest end TV had a fill factor as high as Samsung.
If you live near Seattle, you can check out my ES7500 and compare it to the F or H that are still in stores.
