Thanks koelermeester, i did indeed read the whole thread, unless i missed it there isnt any confirmation that any 1080p120hz projector can do pc 3d with this solution, technically i think it should work but id like to make sure since this BenQ LK970 is $6.5k and here where i m at we cant return it unless there is somwthing wrong with it, so i m trying to be sure before buying it.
I hope this thread stays active and thank you for your quick reply, hope one of the experts here can confirm it because i love 3d gaming when done right (thanks to the great community fixes).

Only UHD 40/50 is confirmed to support 3D Vision so far (it's called UHD 40 in Europe and UHD 50 in USA). According to the manual Benq LK970 does support 1920x1080 @ 120hz. So theoretically 3D is possible. However it might require an EDID override. I would not buy this projector if I didn't have the possibility to return it because even with EDID override 3D might fail. Here in Germany the projector costs the double prize: 11 000€ xD. https://geizhals.de/benq-lk970-9h-jh477-15e-a1692963.html I don't think it's worth the money ^^

For that price wouldn't it be better to buy a native 4K projector instead of WXGA?
Multiple new native 4K projectors coming in the next months:
https://www.projectorcentral.com/CEDIA-2018-Top-Projector-Report.htm
2 hours left for a price drop on a few fake 4k projectors on amazon Germany/Austria.
The UHD51A would be interesting, too bad noone has tried it with 3D Vision.

I hope my lamp survives until the new 4K projectors arrive and hopefully we can use them with 3D Vision :)

Yeah some native 3d projectors are coming out for around that price, but none of them is a 5000lumens lazer which is amazing if 3d vision works on it and after reading the forums its excellent for 4k hdr after some tweaks to accept hdr.
I used to have the optoma UHD60 and the contrast was a turn off for me on dark scenes, i have a JVC RS440 now which is jaw dropping in movies but as a pc use its not the best and not as sharp as the optoma.

you don´t need more than 2000 lumens in light controlled environment and that you propably have or atleast should have if you have jvc d-ila projector.
Those 1 chip dlp´s are nice but the blinking is horrible. If one can watch it, the uhd60 had pretty low rbe for a 1 chip blinker
but those cheap 4k projectors are not really 4k but pseudo is what they call them

I'm using a 300" wall(18m²) for my projector. It's just a white wall but I have no ambient light(light blocking curtains) and 3D is not bright enough. The projector should have 2200 lumens but the lamp is certainly not at full power anymore. I don't think 2000 lumens is enough for 3D with that image size :(

LOL thats Huge. I was gonna say Buy a higher gain screen. But i ques at that size the cheaper one is a bigger light output projector.
Or you could just tone down the image size and move closer to screen.
I'm using a 300" wall(18m²) for my projector. It's just a white wall
Short question: Do you at least use "Light Rejecting Projector Screen Paint"? I do know normal walls/colors aren't good at light reflecting, so you need a lot of (more than double) lamp power to compensate. And a proper paint might be a huge help if you ain't got one. Cause for such a size a 2000 Lens projector sure might be limited and if you ain't got such a color I might ask how you even were able to see anything. ^^

No, I want to wait with painting the wall until I have tested with a new projector.
In normal lamp mode(non eco) 2D is ok but 3D is not so well.
Which colour should the "Light Rejecting Projector Screen Paint" be, grey, silver?

It's not so much about the color but rather the ingredients/physiological combination of them to get a good light reflection result. Theoretically silver has a high opportunity, but that's just it's base core, imo not only reflection but also staying true to the original color depends and silver isn't on top of that. White is quite okay, but how to say ... white is not always white ... as I wrote ... ingredient's. I'm not an expert of that myself. Maybe someone can give an insight, resp. you better open a personal topic on that. All I wanted to do is give hint on a cheap solution if possible (like 20-100 for a permanent solution, rather than 5k+ initial and an exceptional higher frequency for lamps). I did write those words "Light Rejecting Projector Screen Paint" under "" and big first letters on purpose because .... I think they give a good search term. Like ... the first one where i took them from was amazon, but depending on your local entries you may find something ... appropriate. May you already do have some kind of color shop in the near and simply may ask (just asking "I have ... such a wall (incl. degree measurements), use that ... projector with capabilities ..., watching from x("/m²), ... aiming to watch ....), tough you can even buy elsewhere, it's just information), idk your location and if it isn#t the same as mine I prob. can only give tips, these are general ones.
Edit: one remark: if you already happened to see ghosting you may not want to go with white. generally: the darker the place, the less ghosting, but also the less contrast. You wrote you don't got "light blocking curtains". But they may be able to get cheap too. Not sure where you live/abilities and what you already tried but near a big city ... it should be possible, even with small amount.

Yeah you are right , i have a completely dark room treated with black velvet everywhere so basically a bat cave.
Would the new optoma uhd51A/51ALV work then with 3dvision? i use 3d vision on my OLED c6 55inch via edid fix and its glorious, i bet it ll be 10 times better on a 135inch screen but ofcourse with 1080p res ( tried 720p via 3dtv on my jvc and didnt look good due to low res.

Again thanks for the information BlackSharkfr, Pauldusler and Metal-O-Holic
Friday my benq lamp died after 5 years and 4500 hours
Just reminded me how mutch I use the projector and hate to do without it.
Thankfully I did reading up on the optoma series , think the Optoma 51a won`t do 1080P @60Hz 3D
So did go with the Optoma Uhd40. Thanks to this forum, because even the manuals /data sheets says anything about the 3D
Only that it is a option on the controller
Didn`t look forward to the mounting proces (2 left hands) but wonderfully I manage to put it up.
Size of the projector is bigger then the benq but it fits on my Vogel Roof mount :)
Also was a bit scared that I ended up with less of a size screen, don`t know how but it fits perfectly the previous size that I was using
Impressed by the light output (bit brighter then the benq) Also it seems a bit quiter then the benq1070
Not so impressed by colours "out of the box" , did very little tweaking and after that it was looking brilliant
Hopefully tomorrow my 3d Vision kit does arrive and i can put it to use.
Just wondering what are the recommend steps to get it working with (Acer 144Hz) Dlp glasses
Also some weird thing that is that I use the Projector and a 1080P HP led monitor.
If i got them both hooked up , I can extend my desktop to the projector and it works fine.
If I remove the cable from my monitor , restart pc to make the projector the primary device it doen`t get a signal
Need to do some more testing but for now I call it a day and just gonna watch some serie`s

If you connect both your monitor and projector to the PC and press Windows Key + P what happens if you choose "second display only" then?
Concerning Acer DLP glasses there shouldn't be anything special you have to do to make them work. Just enable Stereo 3D in Nvidia Control Panel, run a game in 1920x1080 @ 120hz and choose 3D from the projector menu. It should work then. However for a chance of 50 percent the eyes are swapped. If this happens simply turn off 3D and turn it back on in projector menu. Or press CTRL + T several times. Or swap eyes via 3dmigoto. Don't use the reverse eye function in the projector menu. For me it's not working correctly (maybe firmware bug)

Thank you very mutch Paul,
Windows+p key did indead work :) , didnt know that function
Really impressed by the projector after watching some movies and series.
After some 4K sample`s I was really blown away by the quality and the black levels
Also I noticed some details on serie`s that i have seen very mutch that i weren`t able to spot with the benq
Though i have seen the same episode`s/movies so mutch that I know most of the dialogue
This forum/community helped me so mutch , really happy that it all fits perfectly and is a huge quality jump
Can`t wait to trie out this projector in 3D. "Won`t even trie gaming in 2D lol"

Nice that it worked. You are welcome.
May I ask which projector screen you use? I have only a default white screen which naturally cannot have good black levels. Thinking of buying a high contrast screen maybe.
4k 2d gaming also looks pretty nice with this projector. I was pretty impressed when trying witcher 3 in 4k. However after some minutes I missed the 3d effect and switched back to 3d xD.

LOL thats Huge. I was gonna say Buy a higher gain screen. But i ques at that size the cheaper one is a bigger light output projector.
Or you could just tone down the image size and move closer to screen.

In normal lamp mode(non eco) 2D is ok but 3D is not so well.
Which colour should the "Light Rejecting Projector Screen Paint" be, grey, silver?
