I bought the set a week ago and until now it was all working fine - today I wanted to fire up WoW again and noticed that the glasses were flickering.
After starting the Nvidia Control Panel and working through the setup routine again I noticed that during the setup process the glasses were flickering there aswell. So I completly removed all related drivers and reinstalled them in hope of fixing the problem - no luck.
I tried setting the refresh rate from 100Hz to 110Hz and back to 120Hz - nothing again - plugging in the IR Emitter into another USB port didn't do any good either (besides..the whole thing worked fine for almost a week until today)
Anyone got some idea what could cause this or is this simply a case of "bring it back to the store and get a new set"?

You'll have to be a bit more specific than flickering.
Mine would flash intermittently until I removed MSI afterburner, I believe that all of the OC/fan control programs cause the same problem.
But there are a lot of possible causes for flickering.

I get an occasional flicker, been there forever... But i might only get one or two flicks in a day, but it does happen. I used to get it all the time when I was using Rivatuner... Now I overclock with the nvidia performance tab, and only have the occasional flicker using that.
Im really really hoping that when I build my sli monster later this year I DON'T get the dreaded flicker, it feels like russian roulette :S

Flickering can be caused by a lot of things, you can try the following:
1) As others stated, monitoring software like Precision/AfterBurner can make it worst, not sure if its because they're polling NVAPI or the system bus or what but with my GTX 280s closing them out did reduce flickering. With Fermi however, the flickering is non-existent even with AfterBurner open.
2) Try using the shorter included USB cable. When I used the longer cable, flickering was worst and the USB receiver would constantly be undetected or uninitialized on cold boots or S3 resume. My guess is its just a latency/cable run/signaling issue with USB.
3) Turn off all lights, dim the room as much as possible to limit sunlight, as UV rays and additional IR signals can interfere with the IR from the USB to the glasses.
4) When setting up the 3D Vision Wizard, choose the middle option with medium interference from other displays/IR devices. The far left option tends to give me more flickering.
5) Move the IR receiver closer to you, about 2 feet away in the same line of sight to your TV/monitor, make sure there's nothing obstructing that lane.

Thanks for the tips - as for the flickering: The glasses flash uncontrollably once activated - about twice per second and mainly on the right lens (with an occasional flash on the right).
Changing the USB cable and placing the receiver closer to me didn't help either unfortunately - neither did choosing another option in the Wizard. I also tried moving the receiver closer to me to see if that changed anything - only noticed that when I place it one feet away the glasses loose the signal completly.

Are there no reports of flicker with the fermi cards? ....Or just while you are using overclocking software whilst using fermi cards?
I am worrying about the possibility I might get flicker when i get some sli fermi's.... Am I worrying for nothing?

Ah ya that just sounds like the glasses/emitter are out of sync with the drivers/display. I've had that happen before with the SilverLight 3D player and uninstalling/reinstalling the 3D stereo driver fixed it.

I have not had any flickering coincident with monitoring/overclocking software with Fermi, but I did have quite a bit with GT200 cards that was definitely tied to the software. I just dealt with it because it wasn't too bad, worst in some games like DA:O and AC2. Nice by-product of Fermi is that it didn't have any of these problems with flickering so now I run with AfterBurner open all the time, very pleasant surprise. Also running in SLI here but it was the same with just 1x480.

Thanks once more for all the suggestions - appreciate the effort:
Here is an unsorted list of things I tried out in order to fix the problem:
- uninstalled the Nvidia drivers and reinstalled them from scratch
- tried another USB port on my PC
- tried another USB cable
- moving the IR emitter closer/further away to/from the glasses
- switching my monitor from 120Hz to 110Hz to 100Hz
- setting up another environment in the 3D Vision Wizard (single device, numerous devices like remotes, some PC's all using 3D Vision)
- recharging the glasses to full capacity
- formatting the HDD and reinstalling Windows from scratch
- dimming the light in the room
- lowering contrast/brightness on the monitor (and vice versa)
Well, tbh I am all out of ideas now - unless you can come up with another solution that I might have missed I gonna return the glasses to the store tomorrow and swap them. Oh...and I wasn't using any software like afterburner or RivaTuner at any step.

I'm sorry to tell you this but swapping your glasses for a new set I believe will simply be fruitless.
I have had this flickering issue since buying into 3D around 6-8 months ago. The lenses flash erratically to the point I simply can't use them. I find that when using the mouse in the 3D pic viewer that comes with the drivers it causes this issue.
Here's some advice. Download dlp latency checker. The green bars should NEVER enter the red. Yet when I'm using my glasses everytime they flicker it shows up on the dlp latency checker as red bars.
I used to blame Nvidia for this issue, but I'm inclined to believe that it's just my system. Don't get me wrong. I do believe that the glasses shouldn't be as fickel as they are, but I do think that my system is to blame.
BTW i can stop ALL flickering if I turn off one of my GPUs in my GTX295. If they are both on, I get servere flickering.

Worth a test but I wonder: If it's a system problem - shouldn't the error have occured from the very beginning? The glasses worked fine for about a week before this issue started.
Nonetheless...gonna try out the Latency tool.
Edit: Well..tested it out and it stayed well in the green the entire time.

Interesting. We'll I'm afraid I can't be of anymore use to you. I feel for you m8. I'm still having the same issue and I'm resigned to the fact that I'm running now with one of my 295 GPUs off, which isn't ideal as I lose performance, but i'm hoping that when i upgrade to a 480 I won't have the same issues.
Feel free to send your glasses back, I just don't believe it's going to fix your problem :(
I too had my glasses working perfectly from the off, then a week later BAM! and I've never been able to get rid of the flickering until I disabled a GPU.

Hmmm can you try disabling C1E in the BIOS per this thread? http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=168762
Did you make any hardware/software changes you can track this down to? Try rolling back any auto-updates or driver updates made since the problem started, also try unplugging non-essential USB devices one at a time. Otherwise ya I would try and take the glasses back for an exchange and see if that fixes it for you.

Chiz,
Help is always appreciated! Unfortunately in my case, it was already diabled. Enabling CE1 didn't help either :(

If not, sometimes I notice it's not just my glasses, my IR emitter is flickering so I reboot and it clears it.

Changing the USB cable and placing the receiver closer to me didn't help either unfortunately - neither did choosing another option in the Wizard. I also tried moving the receiver closer to me to see if that changed anything - only noticed that when I place it one feet away the glasses loose the signal completly.

Hope this insight was useful.

Keep us posted pal, and good luck!

Enabling CE1 didn't help either :(
Thx all the same
