Trying to install it but I'm starting to losing it :(
[FIXED] SOLUTION: Nvidia stopped the support for Vista 3D, so if you are under Vista and want to use Nvidia 3D vision, you need to remove your actual driver and download the version 310.90. After that your installation will work, display recognized etc etc.
Props to D-Man 11 for finding the solution.
Hello guys,
I come here with the hope someone might help me, it's driving me crazy.. I've been trying to install Nvidia 3D Vision 2 for the last 5 hours...
First some data:
Windows Vista 32b
Nvidia Geforce 450
Screen: ASUS VG278HE in DVI in 1920.1080 in 120Hz
4 GB Memory
I bought the IR which includes 1 glasses and I bought an extra pair.
Here is my problem:
When I go to nvidia.com/3dupdate do download the package I get the file "NVIDIA_3D_Vision_Desktop_CD_v1.45_WHQL_International".
Thing is the file gives me an old driver for my graphic card, so I lost at least one hour trying to understand why I couldn't install 3d with my actual driver.. Whatever.. I end up removing from my computer the most recent driver just to install the old one in the file I had. After finishing to install it (+ rebooting my computer installing the 3d driver) I start the wizard launcher, I can activate my IR, my glasses but it doesn't recognize my screen.. I don't understand why as there is a big 3D on my screen and it is connected in 1920.1080 144htz DVI to my computer.. So I quit the wizard launcher..
After that I activated Stretoscopic directly in the launcher and tried some adjustment: it looked like sh*t :(
Still I try a game (Tomb Raider) it gives me a disgusting view, I close it, I try 2 movies (Jurassic Park 3D and Avatar 3D) both do not work well with the Nvidia 3D Vision Player despite trying ALL the configurations possible.. OK LET ME TRY SOMETHING ELSE! I run Diablo III, and then I see a message before the game starts: "You don't have the last driver for your graphic card", well yes I don't cuz to install this 3D vision sh*t I had to go back to an old driver version..
So I think, maybe now that I've the 3D install I might be able to have the latest driver for my graphic card and it will fix all my problems? So I go on the nvidia’s website and download the latest driver for my graphic card, after installing it.. BOOM! Stretoscopic option in my Nvidia panel disappeared.. so here I am tearing my hairs off my head in desperation….
Anyone know how to fix my problems???

Thank you for trying to help me, just to let you know I had the driver version 314.22 WHQL, the one you are talking about is a beta. I just took it, install it and restarted my computer to be safe, but problem is the same, I don't have the stretoscopic parameter showing.
And again if I try to run the 3D driver from "NVIDIA_3D_Vision_Desktop_CD_v1.45_WHQL_International" it says I have first to install the graphic driver (which is the version 266.58)..

If you have 2 screens, is the 3D screen set to primary? Someone else had a problem like that. Once you get it going, and check the "enable 3D" checkbox, etc, in that same window make sure to unlock the other hotkeys so you can adjust the convergence.

I only have 1 screen (the ASUS VG278HE), here is a link for all my configuration :

Also here is a screen capture of my nvidia panel as you can see no Stereoscopic option:

Bad advice cookybiscuit
The OP has Windows Vista, Nvidia dropped support for it several drivers ago. I think 304 was the last one supporting Vista? I'm not sure.
But great advice on the complete clean install :)
What display are you using? I think Asus 2478 is a typo
Also Nvidia does not support 3D vision at 144Hz, only 120Hz
ops my bad, I'm going to edit my first post, my display is ASUS VG278HE 1920.1080 at 120Hz (now :) )
So I installed back the 314.22 driver, I put my display @ 120Hz and restarted my computer, but nope, still no Stereostopic :(
How can I ignore your post if I just answered after your post man.. You know after reading dozens of threads, trying different solutions, restarting 10x times my computer I just missed your point about the fact Vista is not supported anymore.. which sucks :( But why my computer keep saying I don't have the latest driver if it's not supported by Vista? It's weird.
Anyways, I removed my actual driver, and after a reboot installed the one from "NVIDIA_3D_Vision_Desktop_CD_v1.45_WHQL_International" which is the version 266.58. I tried to find the last driver supported by Vista but couldn't find it.
After going through all the installation again, 3D is working again but my display is not recognized anymore; I think I need to get the most updated driver for Vista that recognize my screen and I might have the solution for my problem :)

They say Vista is not supported with the latest drivers if people using 3D Vision and 3DTV Play.
I don't think that means that 2D support was dropped. They must have Microsoft stock and want you to buy W8.
Anyhow, I hope you get it sorted.

man you rock!
I sorted it out thanks to you :) I found a driver version 310.90 and it solved all my problems, my screen is recognized and 3D works perfectly now :)
I'm going to edit my first post, thanks to all of you for helping me and big thanks to D-Man for finding the solution (btw when googling stuff with the information you gave me I found an old post of you on this forum talking about the end of Vista support hehe, props for being here long time helping people out).
It's now 6.30am where I'm, after a long struggle I finally can go back geeking.. but in 3d now :=)

Lol, I'm just glad to hear it's working for you.
Make sure that you enable the advanced user hotkeys in the control panel so that you can adjust convergence for even more stereoscopic goodness like Libertine pointed out.
