Final Fantasy IV remake and Final Fantasy IV: The After Years Stereoscopic 3d?

small update... in my relentless search for 3d support for directx10, I found this awesome article: http://www.mtbs3d.com/articles/game-reviews/2760-Resident-Evil-5-S-3D-Game-Review it appears that it actually is possible to make directx10 run in 3d after all, sans patch. I used NVidia inspector to try to link ff4.exe to this profile (where I noticed both directx9 AND directx10 versions of RE5 are linked by default) ...didn't work for ff4.exe ... but it is my hope that by posting this someone can figure out how to tweak that .nip profile or create a new one for ff4... p l e a s e <3

This Steam discussion suggests that FFIV remake uses OpenGL, not DX10. http://steamcommunity.com/app/312750/discussions/0/617335934128896076/

No one said dx10 couldn't run in 3D. The developers for Resident Evil 5 made it 3D Vision compatible when it launched using dx9. http://www.geforce.com/games-applications/pc-games/resident-evil-5 Recently they made it compatible with Steam works. In doing so, they moved it to dx10. Fortunately, you can still play it in 3D using the dx9 version. The dx10 version will play in 3D, but it's not very good. https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/815693/ I told you about the 2 dx10 wrappers currently available from bo3b and Flugan. Flugan also personally offered to help you. The thing is, no one in the community has fixed a dx10 game yet. AFAIK Although bo3b, mentioned he was able to get his wrapper to work with 2 games. I hope I'm not coming off as rude, I fully understand wanting to play a game in 3D vs 2D. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem that there currently is any interest in this game. EDIT: Nice find bo3b, matt500845 looks like you need to give the OpenGL wrapper from helifax a try.

got it!!! tysvm bo3b and d-man11 (not rude btw, I appreciate the input and am here to generate interest in this awesome game, learn, and hopefully find and/or contribute to a solution). I will certainly be back to monitor the situation and/or provide new insights. thanks!

HOLY BALLS I GOT SOMETHING TO WORK :D things that I did to make this happen: tridef 6.6 windows 10 build 10240 gldirect opensource wrapper from here: http://sourceforge.net/projects/gldirect/files/ (^ have tried this before but it did not work under any previous circumstances) (update: it was none of these factors, better 3d config and more info in last paragraph) ...I think it was tridef 6.6 ... possibly new windows build. the results: NOT BAD :D it's a little glitch here and there, kinda like the espxe ps1 emulator with pete's opengl 1.78 and that same gl wrapper opengl32.dll in the same directory. except not as bad :D I am configuring the tridef profile right now :DDD W00T!!! man this one was a bitch lol. *adds to the list of final fantasy games I have forced to run 3d* OOOHM. going to go try this on the ds emulator now... THANKS for trying to help guide me through this guys. I opted to wait it out for new software and it worked. if anyone has a better solution I would love to hear it :) (update: Final Fantasy IV tridef profile has been configured as shown below. it's pretty awesome). generic profile > power 3d left on > change gui detection weak. enjoy! :) (update: Final Fantasy IV: The After Years sequal works exactly the same way) (update: iz3d.exe actually produces better results than tridef lol... just funny cuz that program hasn't been updated in like 10 years and isn't even available anymore really lol. here are yet more 3d artifacts/glitches I have eliminated on switching to iz3d: the weird stretching artifacts around the sides of 3d objects from tridef power3d is now gone. it is "real 3d" in iz3d. jiggly bubbles glitch is gone. when menu is opened and character's thought bubbles pop up. had to do with tridef's autofocus I think. no longer a factor in iz3d. junk on sides of screens is gone. (tridef's power3d is the culprit here too, I think). not present in iz3d's method. opening movie doesn't play, just like with tridef. just launch without injection to see it luckily it's the only pre rendered video in game. and actually, it does work in iz3d/win 7 but only with higher dpi active yet no 'disable display scaling on high dpi' active (this will fix the opening movie in iz3d, but will "break" the 3d or rather the scaling becomes messed up so u just see lines that make no sense)--so a very weird set of scaling circumstances will fix the opening movie in iz3d but it's so cumbersome that you might as well watch the damn movie w/ 3d driver disabled lol. oh yeah and I determined that the reason the movie breaks (and the mist on mist dragon doesn't animate properly [frozen in space]--both of those glitches appear the same in tridef and iz3d) is because of the openg32.dll wrapper. when I delete that out of the folder, opening movie plays fine, mist dragon animation correct, but no 3d). I tried titaniumGL (a different ogl>d3d wrapper) to no avail (black screen). gldirect wins by far here. 2 minor glitchs > black/nothing. lol. perhaps this info will be useful to someone to come up with a better config :) 1 "glitch" came up exclusively with iz3d: there are different 3d circumstances outside of battle, and inside of battle (which is kinda awesome actually). it's pretty jarring when it snaps into battle convergence/separation values, but after configuring both to look best in my opinion, they matched up pretty perfectly and that 'snap' to new values become completely un noticeable. so to get iz3d working, again it will only install in windows 7 (let me know if anyone figures out how to install in win 8 or 10. it BSoD's. I wrote a LONG guide on iz3d forums describing how to force it to install in win 8 or 10 that involved disabling hibernation and many other things but even after it appeared to install it was still not functional, and that is now gone cuz the iz3d forums no longer exist lol). but yeah. same method as tridef utilizing that same opengl to d3d wrapper. and this is very strange because I've tried this exact same method (several times) before (in all windows OSes with all 3d middleware), so it wasn't the new tridef 6.6, or windows 10 (since iz3d only works in win 7). so it was one or more of 4 things: either recent windows updates, recent gpu update, the fact that I installed directx_Jun2010_redist.exe extracted as admin, or aio-runtimes_v2.2.2.1.exe. i will figure out which when I install all operating systems fresh on the 29th when win 10 comes out. and it still doesn't work with 3d vision. the only place I can't get it working. lol
