A quick samsung 67" DLP compatibility question. I cant get a straight answer.
I have been pouring over forums for over an hour now and there is too much contradiction.
Most of the posts are extremely dated, so I wanted to ask for a definitive AND current yes/no:
I have a Samsung 67" HL67A75 3D ready LED DLP.
I read that it is not supported by nvidea's 3d now, yet other sites say it is. The Nvidea FAQ claims it is not compatible, yet the very same FAQ has a driver update claiming it will make it compatible. Im confused, is Nvidea's 3d vision compatible or not?
My understanding is that the TV's scan feature that gets enabled when 3d mode is activated, forces a smaller resolution that eat up part of the games huds ect.
Im also aware that Nvidea released a hot fix that lets you do custom desktop sized, but if you try to do that with 3d mode on, you break the TV permanently!
Now, these are old old posts from early this year, so I am wondering if there is an update on the situation. I would really like to buy these glasses since they have such rave reviews. What is the real and up to date scoop please.
If i could get a couple people to jump on board with this I would really appreciate multiple inputs/links ect.
Thank you so much,
Pheinzig
PS
Oh, and can I run 3dNOW on XP if I do get it...or will I be forced to buy Vista as well.

I own a 61" HL61A750 and it's perfectly compatible with 3DVision. The desktop resize does NOT break the TV (permanently nor temporarily) in any way. And yes you must have either Vista or Win 7 in order to use the 3DVision driver. Your TV will be great with S3D gaming.

Your TV should be compatible, if you have a doubt, have a look behind you TV and check if you can find the VESA standard 3-pin 3D-sync plug, you should also have a special mode in the menus (or sometimes a button on the remote) to activate the 3D feature.
This TV is compatible with all 3D solutions on the market so you have the choice. You can even make it work on XP with any brand of graphics card if you use other brands of shutter glasses (the old Elsa 3D revelators, eDimensionnal, Samsung's shutters, or other) and 3D drivers (iZ3D driver, DDD Tridef ignition driver)
Just remember : your 3DTV is universal but the nvidia 3D-vision glasses and the nvidia 3D driver are exclusive to nvidia GPUs and windows vista/win7

1. yes it has the plug in. but when i hit the option for "3D" mode, the pan and scan crops to a smaller resolution and eats the outer edges of the desktop. this is something that has been covered extensively on the forums. one options is to use nvidea's desktop resizer, but i have read many warnings saying DO NOT DO THIS on a samsung 67A750 series television.
2. I read the reviews andthe nvidea one is supreme over all. Is there perhaps a second place you could point me at in you mind? If not, no worries. Ill dig around and find more info.
3. I got a GTX270, but thats really too bad the 3dVision is vista/7 only. Ill have to save the purchase for next month when I can afford both. right now its a tight budget to spare just $200. Let alone $350+
MAN!!! I REally hate VISTA too :(
hey thanks for the response both of you /thumbup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> . If anyone else has .02 to put in Ill check back in a couple days. It would really be neat if a NVIDEA company man could put in a word on a technical level too.

Realy!?!?
I tried it 3 months ago and was disappointed. Nobody had drivers at the time i guess. So they are getting a lot of the details ironed out eh?

Yeah I have been using the RTM version for months now and I absolutely adore it and everything works great. Keep in mind though that I like OSX a lot and I actually liked Vista too after they got the first service pack released.
There are a lot of little Windows 7 specific niceties that take some getting used to but they really do improve the flow of usability somewhat like that of OSX. I thought OSX was more of a pleasure to use than Vista even though I am predominately a gamer, but I find that I like Windows 7 better than both. Give it some time to grow on you and I think you will learn to love it to once you get used to how it flows.
