I'm trying to get stereo working on a Mac Pro with the following setup:
- Mac Pro (early 2010, MacPro 5,1) running 10.6.4
- Quadro FX 4800 for Mac
- nVidia drivers Retail_256.00.05a23
- nVidia Pro emitter and glasses set connected by DIN and USB cables
- ViewSonic Fuhzion VX2268WM, refresh 120Hz
The monitor, emitter and glasses are known to work in stereo when attached to a Linux desktop.
Stereo applications know that there's a Quadro card, and attempt to do Quad-buffered stereo. The display looks as though it's producing stereo images, but the emitter shows a flashing red light. Nothing I've tried will make the light turn green.
Is there anyone with a working Mac/Quadro setup that can give me any suggestions? nVidia's support site is a bit sketchy on details (as in, it doesn't mention getting 3D vision to work on the Mac at all).

Hello,
I am interested to know if you've solved the problem, I am about to buy the Quadro FX 4800 and Im on a Mac pro OctaCore too, still do not know how to connect the card to the monitor. http://www.viewsoniceurope.com/uk/products/desktop-monitors/led-lcd/v3d241wmled.htm
please if you find a sulution and you can share it would be a great help for us.

We've hit the same wall in trying to get the 3D Vision system working on the Mac. It comes down to a driver limitation. Despite being able to enter into a quad-buffered stereo drawing configuration on the card (...using Matlab & PsychToolbox), which presumably does generate a sync signal on the 3-pin DIN line, Nvidia's OS X drivers do not allow the emitter to turn on. It seems like something as simple as an OS error check. At the price charged for the Quadro FX 4800 card we'd really love to see Nvidia enable this feature.

Me too. Just to update you, someone working in the same field as me managed to get in touch with someone from nVidia. They say that the Mac drivers don't support 3D Vision and there don't appear to be any plans to do so in the near future.
This is disappointing, but what really gets me annoyed is the sloppy advertising. The product page for Quadro FX 4800 for Mac has "Professional 3D Stereo Solutions" in the feature list, with a link to a page that mentions 3D Vision.

Unfortunately, I'm still no nearer finding a solution. nVidia's support policy, that "technical Support, RMA requests, replacements and warranty issues for your NVIDIA based product are handled by the local reseller that shipped the product" doesn't help me much, because my local reseller is hopeless.
