Have anyone with active 3D TV tried this trick: Making your monitor native resolution 720p with Monitor Asset Manager app and then using 1.5x DSR? That makes it fake 1080p.

It would still look ugly on any screen that's over 30 inches. It's not true 1080p anyway.
Maybe then 2x DSR? Then it's fake 1440p and that must be look better than true 1080p.

Yeah I want to try this...how does DSR 4k look on a native 720p signal on a TV over 50" is it even possible? I think 1440p is 4x 720p not 2x.

Yah it's 4x, ramps.

Hi I'd like to add to the request to have full hdmi2 3D support to 3dtv play. My tv does 1080p@120hz with the gtx970 with no problem so if 3dtv play will never have it, please let us know so that we don't have to wait and we can just get the 3dvision kit instead.
I've put my 55" on my computer desk just to try it and with 3D it's better than anything I've ever played (except the fact that 3dtv play is limited to 720p at gaming rates). This is the real way to play for! It is so incredibly immersive that my 27" now seems unimpressive. I've tried immersive VR and it's still not as fun, the 3D tv seems more natural.
I'd really suggest to anyone to try a huge tv on their computer desk to play their favourite fps in the dark.

Better than I though it would but I ended up playing more older games because newer ones, while still fun, are missing quite a bit of detail at that res. One thing that I found amazing is that with such a huge tv so close, I felt that sensation of things happening out of the corner of my eye as I do in real life, I was more aware of my surroundings. Also, characters and worlds were a lot closer to the size of what they would be in real life. It's the first time since doom 1 that I've felt something really new in gaming! Moving around felt more natural and I played much better generally. I can just imagine 1080p@60hz per eye.
Sure, if I had the money, and if the tech existed, an 80" curved tv with 4k@120hz per eye at 2 feet in front of me would be the best but you know....
I'm also a programmer, the tv is impossible to work on in full screen since I had to reach to focus on reading the text in the corners. I had to go to 4K and have a small window to be able to work properly. Yes, it's a Sony.
Again, I add to the request to get hdmi2 3D support in 3dtv play or at least let us know that it won't happen.

I would imagine that this will almost certainly never happen - Nvidia won't ever go out of their way to improve 3d vision. It's been years since they said a single word even indicating its existence.
I love 3d vision, but VR is going to take over within 2 years. Even if you're just playing a traditional game on a large virtual screen in 3d.

Yes, but 3d vision kit isn't working always well with not supported 120hz+ screens.
I read someone with Sony 43X830C didn't get it work well and he had a lot ghosting and other problems.
You can try Tridef 3D too. That's support 1080p/60hz.

I received a reply from Peter Sierant yesterday, stating the following:
Hi Mathieu,
Thanks for your patience. I have passed your feedback on to the product teams. At this time there no currently planned expansion of support for 3DTV Play. We are always evaluating the status of our products and will consider your suggestion for possible future implementations.
Regards,
--Peter
So I guess there isn't much to expect from future 3DTV Play updates. At least now we have a clear answer from someone at Nvidia about this matter.

Weak, 3DTV Play was pathetic at launch with it's 24Hz limitation and looks like it will remain a half assed offering.
It sure puts doubts in people's minds, if Nvidia will even offer anything worthwhile for VR support.
If it wasn't for community fixes, Nvidia would certainly have lost some sales.
ok, I guess I'll try that.
Is there any chance that nvidia will answer this thread?
Nvidia is aware of this thread and hopefully it will get the right traction... There isn't any statement from them because there isn't anything concrete to communicate. Maybe it will, maybe it will not be...
The only thing we can do so far is to CONTINUE to show that WE WANT this support and that 3D TV PLAY is still in demand! This will allow the dev team to pull resources and actually ADD the features we request here!
The more people ask for it here the bigger the chance of actually get it;)
