Sorry if this is stupid question:
I am playing in CM mode for now (performance), should I disable HBAO+ - does it even do anything when 3DV is enabled in the drivers?

Turning off anti-aliased hairworks also fixes the bad transparency (and highlights from the sun will render correctly as opposed to my faked depth information, but the hair will also look a bit pixelated):
Backup and edit C:\Users\USERNAME\Documents\The Witcher 3\user.settings. Find [Rendering] and add HairWorksAALevel=0 on the next line. You may need to set the file read only to prevent the game resetting that (haven't confirmed if this is necessary, but nvidia's tweak guide mentions it)
I've tested this + the shader attached by you (HLSL one not ASM one) and I can say that Hairworks now works properly in 3D Vision;))
The HLSL version works;)) I tried the ASM one and it still crashes...Weird...
From what Flugan was saying I think we need a bug fix in the assembler for that crash. Probably a low priority since we don't need the assembly version of that shader, but would still be good to fix for other shaders that may cause the same thing.
Now the question: Do I need to apply the AA=0 setting if I am using the shader ?
Or
- If I am using AA do I need to use the shader?
- If I have AA=0 do I need the shader?
Use one or the other depending on your preference - the shader could potentially make the hair look too opaque/transparent in certain situations (unconfirmed) and lighting highlights may look slightly off, whereas disabling AA will cause jaggies.
I'm adding a few more features to the frama analysis to get more detail about the original problem to see if there is a better way to fix it, but for now at least we have working hair :)
Big thank you again for looking into this;) (Now only if I can figure out why the hair is flickering on my Surround/SLI setup :)) I think it has to do with the SLI bits hmmm... Anyone else gets flickering hair in SLI ?)
I'm on a single GPU and I don't get flickering. If you set the SLI bits to 0 does it go away (even if performance sucks)?
The remaining issue I see is that strands at a very specific depth from the camera will glitch out and stretch to screen depth (which can be eliminated if convergence is set to the exact same depth of 1.0). I'm going to look into adding support for tesselation shaders as I think this should be a fairly easy fix (once we get the decompiler and/or assembler work with them).

With witcher patch 1.04 and flugan's alpha 0.04 I had a lot of CDT's on reload, but not always ... sometimes reload game worked ok several times
Also I have encountered some strange 3D/graphics bugs:
2x times about 1/4 of the screen, the top-left corner turned blue (not entirely, there were some graphical elements displayed, but all on a blue background)
2x times a "shadow" of geralt's back remained blocked in the center of the screen, while "real" geralt was behaving normal - responding to my controller :)
both issue were solver with a game restart
Updated the game to patch 1.06, win7 x64 with 352 driver, flugan's alpha 0.06 and 3d surround - played about 2h last night and it works great. no load/reload so I cannot confirm/infirm the CDT.
I saw some "grid with white dots" on 2 objects but only in cinematics ...could not make a screenshot, as they were only briefly displayed.
I'll post some screenshots if I encounter some issues with the current configuration.
Should I update the drivers to the latest version?... right now I'm pleased with the graphics
thanks a lot

I definately encourage you to DDU and upgrade to 353.06 without geforce experience.
Boosted witcher performance A LOT compared to 352.86
Did that yesterday evening, along applying the 0.06 patch with 3D migoto 1.1.19
and the 3D is almost superb, only waiting for hairworks fix
And the white pattern thingy can be disabled when seen with F2 , with switches between certain modes.

I don't have any performance issues ... running everything on ultra except hairworks. And yes, 3D looks amazing :)
But nevertheless I could update if it doesn't break the 3D
Could you please let me know why should I not use the geforce experience? ... I'm currently running it and works OK

Are you using GSYNC? If not 353.12 will not do anything (In fact for me it seems to work worse than 353.06.. Placebo effect maybe?) I am on Win7 Home/Ultimate on 2 machines and I don't get any crashes.
I do get crashes if I use MSI afterburner though...Maybe you have an OSD active?

I know that 353.12 only fixed the G-Sync Windowed mode issue and i have no OSD active. But Win 7 is only there for the case Win 8.1 makes problems with something. But with 0.06 from Mike everything is fine @ Win 8.1 ... (still not tryed with 1.06 witcher patch).

ok, Can you try this HLSL version instead:

Without the 0675778425b068a0-ps_replace.txt the hair was flicker with SLI, the transparency fault was solved with the config changes (did not test it without) but with that shader and the config changes everything is beautifull related to Hairworks (did not test it without config changes).

I think so too, because there are no other problems with it. But as far as i can say with "my experiance playing with 3D-fixes" this wont be fixable.
I have modifyed the convergence settings from Helifax in the d3dx.ini for hitting F3 to:
[Key3]
Key = F3
type = toggle
convergence = 1.34532940
x = -0.5
This is the deepest HUD depth not pushing it to the ground and get relative good viewing depth for the name plates.

I used to have Geforce experience, but its easier not to use it, being a wizard yourself. Mostly common dummies use it, who dont know about graphics other than "the more it costs the more I can play games" but it has been a trouble in past screwing some drivers up,
But .... No performance issues? I was running the same drivers as you, I have a GTX ASUS 980 OC with intel i7 4790K , I was playin real 3D with 0.04 alpha fix, with hairworks enabled and most on ultra except foliage distance, and it was 30-50 fps stable mostly,
When I upgraded yesterday to 353.06 i got like 15 fps boost , but had to disable hairworks because the 0.06 made geralts hair invisible in one eye.
Believe me lad, i dont write here often, but when I do, its worth it.
As was my upgrade yesterday, it was 10 minutes, if you dont like it :D revert it...will only cost 20 minutes of your life, but i doubt you will revert

Very very weird with the CTDs... Now I am playing the game on both Lappy and Desktop and the only CTDs I am getting are if I use an overlay like MSI Afterburner or the likes...
I can play hours upon hours with loading screens and stuff (but I avoid the load last savegame if I die)...
Very weird that I can't tell why for me is not CTD-ing but for others it does (oh and I am using the Post-process injector from NexusMod).
Are you guys using mods on the game ? Might that be the reason for the crashes ?

I know that 353.12 only fixed the G-Sync Windowed mode issue and i have no OSD active. But Win 7 is only there for the case Win 8.1 makes problems with something. But with 0.06 from Mike everything is fine @ Win 8.1 ... (still not tryed with 1.06 witcher patch).
Thats what i have tryed to tell some posts ago ^^
Confirmed as working !! (TWWH 1.06 / 3D-Vision - Mike 0.06)
This is the deepest HUD depth not pushing it to the ground and get relative good viewing depth for the name plates.

Hi Mike thanks for reply :)
I meant that nameplates are in the wrong depth...
i7 4970k@4.5Ghz, SLI GTX1080Ti Aorus Gigabyte Xtreme, 16GB G Skill 2400hrz, 3*PG258Q in 3D surround.
try to change x to -0.9 in d3dx.ini
well, no one was interested but for me it is perfect
Win 7 64bit ; i7 4790K ; GTX 980 ASUS OC ;10 gb ram ; 353.06 ; 42" edid 3Dvision passive interleaved screen
Flickering hair is not totaly solved, it is occur sometimes and sometimes not.
