By the way ...

I've just tried out a free game called "AssaultCube" with a patch which makes the game run in 3D stereo interlaced mode. The stereo effect is absolutely amazing on the 22" Zalman monitor. No ghosting, excellent depth feeling. The only thing wrong with the stereo mode in that game was that left and right images were swapped, so I had to turn my glasses upside-down to get the correct steo effect (and not force watch it in "cross-eye" mode).

Here is the URL to the standard game setup:
http://assault.cubers.net

And here is the URL to a patch supporting most 3D stereo modes:
http://rapidshare.com/files/93508434/AssaultCubeVR002.zip

Simply install the game, then unzip the patch files into the game install folder and modify the ".bat" file to set the correct resolution. When the game starts, press ESC to get into the menu and then go to Options to find the Stereo settings. Set stereo mode to Interlaced and you're in full 3D stereo :)

If stereo drivers from nVidia (which we have been waiting for sooo long) will be any good, I can't wait to try out other games on the Zalman monitor :)

Oruq

Hey Oruq,

thanks for that, it's nice to see at last interlaced s3d working on the screen in some form.

it's a good start, but i found that the difference between weapon image seperation and the scenery was massive. the weapon seemed to have about 4x more seperation to the background scenery with cuase me eye strain as my eye's tried to focus both.

The scenery also seems to lack an real depth as i dont think there was enough seperation there.

But all in all, well done guys you've acomplished something that Nvidia / Zalman haven't been able to achieve yet under vista after about a year of working together.

:) :)

ribuck, you have to turn the glasses upside down to swap left and right eye image. When you do that and set separation to 100%, the stereo effect is just right.

When I first tried this game out, I also couldn't focus on the weapon, then I looked at each image separately and found out that my left eye was seing what my right eye should see, while my right eye was seing what was supposed to go to my left eye. Turning the glasses upside down solved the problem and the gun was suddenly peftecly focusable, the same as all the other objects in the scene.

It is also important to set the right separation and depth for you. For me, 100% separation with 12ft depth was perfect.

This thing about turning the glasses upside down also depends on your resolution and situation could be exactly opposite in your case. Best is to try and see the difference for you with glasses normally worn and turned arround. If you do not have the monitor and the glasses, image separation might look high for you, but it is quite a different thing when you see the image in 3D stereo.

Just looking at the interlaced image, I'd also expect the separation to be too high, but since there is no ghosting, it was no problem for me to focus on any item in the scene, including my hand and the gun I was holding.

PS. The author of that stereo patch for AssaultCube is already working on a fix to swap the left and right images.

Oruq

I'll give that a try and see if turn the glasses upside down helps any, will be interesting to see.

I ended up getting my screen back, after i heard from Werner that the 4th was a 100% guarenteed...........

So least have something to mess with. I've also been checking out lots of good s3d interlaced images which have proved to be Amazing, with no ghosting at all.

Just looking for decent demonstration movies now.

Hey Oruq, I turned my glasses upside down as you suggested and it worked a treat, so nice to see something running properly and to have a little run around in 3d.

Cheers,
Ribuck

Hi , For those who are tired to wait Nvidia drivers like me, there is the pay Tridef solution making it possible to play some games (as FSX ! and other) in anaglyph mode, with Vista, at the following address. http://www.ddd.com/cart/product.php?produc...2&cat=14&page=1 . I hope that this information can give pleasure to some, until Nvidia wanted to finally leave these sacred drivers /devil.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Thanks for the info cmoi, I have fsx running in anaglyph ok but it has slowed to a slide show with my 7950 x2 card. I have just ordered a 8800GTX OC, so hopefully one, it will speed up my system, and two, this driver is compatible with my new card.
