One thing I noticed with my PC (GTX 980 and 3770k@4500) is that using wrapper really affects fps in some places in the game - for example cities where many objects/people are displayed. I get it down to 30-35 in Redcliff for example while having 60 in the wilds. Is it some optimization problem with wrapper dll? I thought that it should not affect fps much since it is just replacing shaders?
Thanks for the settings list, it all adds to the body on knowledge required to run this game.
Regarding the performance, I have (currently on loan) 2x980 in my machine and I get FPS down to 35 at places too. It's the game not the wrapper. The wrapper might drop the odd 1-2 FPS (though all our profiling shows that it does not) but has nothing to do with the massive variations you see across the game. That being said, I might be wrong, so can you please disable the wrapper (just rename the d3d11.dll and nvapi64.dll files to something else) and run the game in stereo in the places where you see the drops in FPS and verify that they do or do not occur? If you can't handle looking at the mess on screen simply set the separation to be really low, say 5%, to make it bearable. I will also do the same tonight with my 2x980 setup. I see slow downs in camps, and I read on a forum somewhere that this is a common problem with the game in the first place, regardless of 3D, or using wrappers.
@vitalijus_b:
I have tested and re-tested and re-tested some more and more and more and more.....
Even on a single 880M (mobile) I get the same behavior in 3D WITH OR WITHOUT THE WRAPPER !!! The slowdowns are caused by the game engine... or you are running out of VRAM (in 3D a game will use more VRAM than 2D btw)...
- Trust me I was the FIRST to blame the wrapper for a lot of things (when developing the fix) but the FPS drops that you see wasn't among them...
As an alternative you can always try Flugan's Wrapper;))

I am envious of you all. I am not sure what is going on but I have not found any way to get the game working with shader cache on. I have tried in Win 7 and Win 8.1 with and without SLI and while I don't experience many crashes it almost always loads with at least some odd broken 3D. For example, some shadows might be at screen depth, or the HUD might display in different positions in each eye, or character heads might display in different positions in each eye (talk about a disorienting effect!).
Maybe I am missing something or perhaps it is something specific to my setup but I just cannot make it work.
For those that have 3D working with shader cache on, could you summarize which steps you are using. Helifax's instructions (from page 58) have some differences than the instructions on the helixmod blog. Examples of differences are the registry changes and in-game refresh rate setting. It sounds like you all are now back to setting in game to 60Hz but it is not clear to me about the registry changes. Also, since the game loads in 2D is the Alt-Tab trick needed for the first load or only after playing in 3D and then loading a new zone?
Also, my "stable" setup under Win 7 with shader cache off is no longer stable. This game is just odd. I am going to give it another go tonight uninstalling the fix and using DDU to reinstall driver to give it a fresh start, but I am about to give up on 3D for this game which is a shame because it looks so good in 3D. But, I have spent 10 times more time testing the game than actually playing the game.
I do appreciate all the hard work you all have done on this game and am definitely willing to keep testing if new ideas come up but for whatever reason it seems the current tips just are not working well for me.
Probably again sounding like a broken record.
But I had this exact same issue. Typical behavior was things like certain elements like mage robes being incorrectly rendered, or trees everything else working right.
Do you have Vsync enabled?
I proved this was the issue on my screen. I had to force it to adaptive in NVpanel.
I haven't tried with latest drivers but will do so tonight following Helifax new recommendations.

I have tried these steps in both Win 8.1 and 7 (without SweetFX or Radeon Pro) and no luck for me. In Win 8.1 as prior the 3D almost never is correct on the initial load. In Win 7 it seems to always load properly the first time but after a little walking around in Haven and tripping some cutscenes with key characters the 3D will start to act up. And, I could not get a single load into another zone to work properly. The 3D would be severely broken (right eye good, left eye almost black for example). I tried the Alt-Tab trick to no avail. I think tried loading to another zone and it crashed. My Win 7 install is very basic and for this I did DDU and installed the new drivers without Geforce Experience and I also completely quit Afterburner just in case disabling application detection was not enough.
I am not sure what it is with me and shader cache but I seem pretty much stuck with it disabled to have any stability.
Update: Losti, I downloaded your rar file and noticed some DLLs that I don't recognize from either 3dmigoto or flugan wrappers: msvcp100.dll, msvcr100.dll and XInput1_4.dll. Are those part of SweetFX or something? I did notice that your ShaderFixes folder has 1,962 bin files in it while mine has only 1,961. But, there is still 1,964 txt files. It seems a few shaders are not getting compiled. Before I know I had less than 1,961 shaders (had about 1,954). Perhaps when the game first loads a new shader it causes the 3D to mess up? I still have not progressed that far in the game so maybe that is an issue for me compared to others. I am running out of things to test/try.

But I had this exact same issue. Typical behavior was things like certain elements like mage robes being incorrectly rendered, or trees everything else working right.

I proved this was the issue on my setup. I had to force it to adaptive in NVpanel. (off in game)

Up until the posts recently about the new driver I was using adaptive vsync or smooth vsync as was described at the time. I tested tonight with what helifax and Losti posted with vsync in game and let app decide in drivers. Still no luck for me with shader cache enabled. I do prefer the short loading times but if it constantly crashes I will live with long loading times.

Ok strange, this definitely is the deciding factor for me. I was plagued with this problem with shader cache on and it was doing my head in. I can replicate it, so maybe its a combination or other factors as well.

Do you have Vsync enabled? and what driver are you using?
I proved this was the issue on my setup. I had to force it to adaptive in NVpanel. (off in game)
If I toggle it the problem appears and disappears.
I haven't tried with latest drivers but will do so tonight following Helifax new recommendations.
I could not imagine having to play this game with shader cache off anymore.

Are you using the exact resolution in both game and Windows ? (in Windows is 120Hz in Game you should set it to 59.99Hz)
I had major issues exactly like you describe until I did this.... A good bunch of shaders would be plain 2D once I loaded a game with shader cache ON. When it was OFF everything worked perfectly...
Also do what Losti said regarding the deletion of pre-cached shaders by the drivers

After drivers update i have no problems with game at all. Only thing i have to keep off is Vsync (nvidia menu and in game). If i have that "on" then i`ll get all the funny shaders and blinking.
Also i have to switch to Battlefield 4 profile. Helifax mentioned that he can manage without it but it does`nt work for me. I`m good with that anyway.
can you please disable the wrapper (just rename the d3d11.dll and nvapi64.dll files to something else) and run the game in stereo in the places where you see the drops in FPS and verify that they do or do not occur?
@mike_ar69, @helifax
I did a bit of performance testing - just loading in Redcliffe village and turning camera around a bit - so not really scientific, but still I'm pretty sure of results:
without wrapper around 33fps
with 3D Migoto (coming with v11 fix) its aroud 30fps, and there are some occasional drops to 26 (which I have noticed even in other areas where I have 60 fps - almost like some garbage collection kicking in for a short time, and then its back to normal)
with flugan wrapper 1.0 - its also around 30, but no drops to 26.
I have tried newer versions of flugan dll, and migoto dll from bo3b github release page, but they are not different regarding produced fps from earlier versions.
So I'm pretty confident that performance drop from using wrapper is there, however its not big and probably there is no real point in optimization efforts - 3fps difference is not relevant. Sad thing is there is no real way to improve cpu much above 4.5ghz, since game is clearly cpu bound

Thanks for looking at this. Those variations make more sense - it's not dropping from 60->30 due to the wrappers. I am not sure about the 26 FPS numbers, but I agree there is probably something momentary happening in the game, something loading etc. I tried to look at this myself last night but could not get the damn game to load without CTD every time. After 20 mins I gave up, but I'll try again at some point.

If you can, it would really help me if you can run a more rigorous test using Fraps.
You can use the F11 sampler, which will run for 1 minute and record min, max, average.
If you do a test of the same sequence, or a built in benchmark for consistency. Try to run the same path, or do the same sequence as much as possible.
I'm very curious if the Min framerates would indicate a problem I should look at.
Edit: The reason I need your help is because I've looked at a couple of performance scenarios and I cannot see any difference between the wrappers in terms of performance.
The built in benchmark is OK, but seems to be pretty inconsistent in terms of measuring. I can get 10 fps drops between two runs, back to back, with no changes.
Nevertheless, here's what I see:
3Dmigoto v11 fix: 85 Min, 99 Avg
3Dmigoto 99.41: 85 Min, 99 Avg
Flugan w/ v11: 82 Min, 102 Avg

Weird thing I notice I see a reference to 59.99hz alot from you guys.
I don't get this option at all. All my resolution choices in game are either 60hz or 120hz
Not sure if this is a hardware difference or something.
I am actually playing both desktop and in game 120hz 1920x1080
No issues whatsoever apart from the very occasional ctd on zone

Been playing again with my Win 8.1 setup. Using V11 of the fix, and V1.36 of Flugan's wrapper, shader cache off, v-sync enabled in game and in game refresh @ 60Hz as per most recent comments. SLI enabled.
If I use Battlefield 4 profile I get broken SLI and broken shadows. If I use the default profile I get full SLI and all shadows/character models/objects rendered perfectly.... I just don't have the primary terrain rendered in the left eye. No ground at all, just a view of all the objects rendered in full (including all the otherwise invisible bits). So close to perfection!!
Will start to play with some elements in NV Inspector but first few goes changed nothing and the only major differences are all the undefined elements which is a bit like black magic.
Just as an FYI, Windows 10 behaves almost identically to Win 8.1 - seem to get slightly better fps (though minimal) but not as stable. No real surprises. Will stay focused on Win 8.1 for now.

I don't get this option at all. All my resolution choices in game are either 60hz or 120hz
Not sure if this is a hardware difference or something.
I am actually playing both desktop and in game 120hz 1920x1080

Sure, just did it in the same place - trying to move camera around the same way with both dll's
3Dmigoto v11 fix: min 31, max 35, avg 32.867
Flugan w/ v11: min 31, max 34, qvg 32.433
And I didn't notice occasional drops of fps this time. So probably it was just random game lag unrelated to wrapper.
