3d on my lcd at 57hz? should I bother?
I have my old wireless 3d shutterglasses I bought a few years ago (ELSA brand), but I never got them to work with my next graphics card (6800gt).
Dunno why, I did all these updates and tried lots of different versions.
Anyhow, I eventually bought a 32" LCD monitor (WinBook), which runs at 57hz only. Should I bother buying a new set of glasses that are compatible with this monitor? Are there even any?

I'm close to just using my old glasses on my old graphics card with my old 19" monitor on an old computer sitting around... I really miss playing GTA3 in 3D...

I haven't heard of anyone with an LCD monitor being too happy with 3D on their system and I think 57 Hz is going to be a big problem. If you are already familiar with the NVIDIA stereo driver I'm pretty sure you will be disappointed. I think you need to run interlaced on an LCD, not page flip. I used interlaced for a while when I had an ATI card and the glasses flicker at a much slower and more noticeable rate and with interlaced you'll have ugly lines. It's not all bad news; if you get your 6800GT you will be able to have both your CRT and LCD on the same card with the provided DVI to VGA adapter. You will also be surprised to find how much better the 3D is on a higher end NVIDIA card. I just upgraded from a BFG6800 to a 7800GS because the 6800 ran pretty hot with the stereo driver on, and I often had heat related crashing after an hour of 3d game play. If you can swing it, I would go for the 7800GS. The 6800GT was an awesome card for 3D, just a little hot.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the quick input. When I bought my new monitor I did have the dual-screen setup, but since I couldn't get my shutterglasses to work I decided to put away the CRT.
I tried every possible setup, including using only the CRT, but still couldn't get my ELSA glasses to work.

Actually, buying a few more game systems made me put away the CRT and install a shelf in its place, lol.

I suppose I could make some room for it again... somehow. I don't think my card overheating will be too much of an issue, I can always add more fans to my PC if I start crashing. My only issue is getting it to work. Do you think I need to get a new transmitter/glasses set?

ok, I'm getting there! I put my 19" CRT on top of my sub and reconnected the transmitter.

I dowloaded the old E-Dupdate (from the e-dimentional glasses) drivers and they work!!! I can't believe it!

My only problems now are that when in 3D I'm getting some major ghosting effects, and every 3-4 seconds the glasses go off-sync for about four flashes. Any possible solutions?

It has been along while since I used the ED driver, I can't remember what keys adjust convergence. When you get your NV card you will be able to use the NV stereo driver so you will not have much trouble with ghosting. You may need to download ED activator to change the viewing method to page flip. Then you will be able to run your CRT at it's highest refresh rate. Good luck.

Well, i don't really understand what's going on, but i'm still able to access my nvidia stereo drivers. It's as though I installed the e-d ones and it made my nvidia ones work somehow (?!?!?). I tried the E-D.exe program and it doesn't seem to work on any setting. In fact, at one point I got my computer to freeze up and have a different crash screen on each eye.

Out of desperation I tried removing pins 12 and 15 or whatever from my monitor according to the diagram on stereo3d.com's FAQ (I was too lazy to buy an adaptor or look for an extension), and that just made my monitor no longer work when I turned stereo vision on.

Oh well, no real loss. I simply swapped monitors with the one in my recording studio (albeit an inch smaller), so now I'm back to square one. However, I did get to fix the ghosting with the convergence quickkeys, thanks for the input on that!
