Elite dangerous Alpha - Just tried 3DVision

It was not showing for me because I had the Oculus Rift enabled. I had to turn off the rift so I can get 3D vision loaded. On another note is there anyone else with a RIFT and ED in here? I am trying to explain to some people on the forums over at Oculus forums that the developers have used a trick to just render the cockpit in stereoscopic 3D while leaving everything else without stereoscopic 3D rendering. This allows them to keep their framerate higher fails to provide a true stereoscopic image of the entire scene. If anyone has similar experiences withe the rift please feel free to chime in. https://forums.oculus.com/viewtopic.php?f=42&t=11461&start=600
I have E:D on the rift, I don't see how they can make the cockpit 3D and everything else 2D, it doesn't make sense... You may not feel the game is as "3D" as an FPS or typical RPG because there are large volumes of empty space, due to it being a space sim, so you are missing some distance queues, but this isn't anything to do with them fudging the 3D to save rendering power, its a SBS display and each view is rendered separately.
So it looks fine to you outside of the cockpit? Remember Dues Ex human Revolution has a 3D hud and 2D scene when it was implemented by the developer. I have tried getting close up to an object especially in the Dock and there is little to no depth in my opinion.
Yeah, the depth does look fine on the DK2. I played DX:HR and that games issue wasn't a 3D hud and 2D scene, it was just the fact it had almost zero depth being an AMD title. Once you used the hack to unlock some real depth it looked as good as any other NVidia 3D title.

Bumping this now that E:D has been 'released'. Still no love for 3D Vision? unrelated: how do I update 'my rig' in my signature? I can't find where to edit it for the life of me...

Has anyone tried the Galaxy Note 4 with the VR kit.. Does it work the same or similar to the Rift Kits?

Guys, Elite: Dangerous have extensive support for other 3D formats, namely Side-by-Side. As far as I know, Side-by-Side is 3D TV stuff. But maybe the game could be ran on 3D Vision Display in 3D TV mode to take full advantage of Side-by-Side stereo? For example, I could play PlayStation 3 games in 3D on my Asus VG278HR, which has built-in receiver. I would be very grateful for help, since I have no idea in which direction to move... :)

COnsidering the game isn't so popular and have only cockpit made in 3D, probably it would be a problem to find someone who will fix it

I know everyone said 3d is broken but I had to try for myself. Compatibility mode is almost playable. It does give me a taste of what this game would look like in 3d and wow I think it really has potential. Docking and leaving a station is really pretty amazing in 3d. If it looks like 3d for the Witcher is beyond fixing I would love to see someone make a stab at fixing real 3d mode in this game. Flying in hyperspace in 3d really gives me that I'm in space feeling when in 3d..

I would love someone to fix this game. There's just not enough depth in it.

Just bumping this thread for the non-existent chance of Nvidia giving us kind-of-working 3D for this game. I really regret having bought my 3D Vision-Equipment. There are nearly no modern games properly supporting it.

My actual User Name is "Sevion" but as Nvidia is horribly incompetent whenever touching anything software-related, they just screwed up my User Name when migrating their forum. Don't be like Nvidia, learn proper programing.GTX 980i7 4790KGA-Z97X-Gaming 7

We have a pretty good list of DX11 modern games, so I strongly disagree with "nearly no modern games". It is worth noting though that NVidia themselves are not going to fix anything. They haven't done anything for 3D games themselves for years. Your best bet is HelixModBlog, and for a game like this that hasn't gotten any attention from the other shaderhackers, you should try to fix it yourself- it's pretty damn fun.
