3D Blu-ray System requirements No GTX 200 series GPU on the 3D Blu-ray GPU Requirements List
Hi, I just read the following on the nvidia website, (Liking the new Nvidia Website look :rolleyes: )

Does this mean that the GTX 200 series doesn't support 3D Blu-ray? Hopefully some1 can answer this.

So I can't watch 3D blu-ray with my GTX 260 in SLI?

so the 260 should be supported but will not accelerate decoding so youll also need a fast CPU, from what I understand.

HI i own a samsung 2233rz but from what i understand we should still be able to watch 3d blu-ray as its just the resolution of 1920 x 1080 thats stopping it, there are problems with watching normal blu-rays with power dvd 10 and you can get round it by using third party software such as Any DVD HD etc. So i think we will be ok. and also as it lists a gt 240 as compatible i was wondering if i would be able to add this as a dedicated physx card to my gtx 260 sli and this will play 3d blu-ray

Only the listed GPUs will support GPU-accelerated decoding, meaning that the CPU load will be little when you watch Blu-ray 3D movie.
If you don't have any of the supported models you just won't get GPU-accelerated decoding, but you'll still be able to watch Blu-ray 3D movies. The difference is that all the load associated with the decoding of the video content will go to the CPU and this means that with a slower CPU you might have issues. However most people that use 3D Vision probably already have quite capable processors that should be able to handle the decoding process without issues even without GPU-acceleration... ;)

To the OP, take this as a good thing.

If you have a GTX200 series there is a 90percent chance you CPU will be easily quick enough, so not much need to worry about that.

Us nvidia fermi/gtx400 series users will be using our GPU's while watching Blu Ray 3D - and as we all know these things use a heck of a lot of power, and are hot. So by using your CPU instead, you're probably saving money anyway.

I'd be really surprised if any cpu from a Q9400 upwards can't play BluRay 3D.

Nvidia keeps changing, no not updating, but bloody changing
First off only the GT-240 was listed to do 3D BluRay, now its not there, there is disscussions here about the GT 240 being the only card
The GT240 is removed from most of the list, anyone who bought the GT240 will be very pissed off, i would be DEMANDING Nvidia fix it if there is an issue or have nvidia replace the card

Damn, that sucks. I don't know if it already does, but 3D Bluray software (PowerDVD I guess) better support quad core porcessing... Dual core may not be enough for some lower clocked AMD quad core models.
