Alienware AW2310 Picture Settings
I know this isn't about 3D Vision but I think this is the best place to post this since this is the most common discussion place for this monitor.

I've come from a Dell 2407 and I'm having a lot of difficulty getting the picture settings right on the AW2310 with the available menu options. s there any advanced menu you can enable on the AW2310?

It seems the AW2310 has overblown whites, which isn't fixed by changing the Brightness or Contrast settings, it's almost like there is severe backlight bleed, and if there is black image on the screen it appears far too bright compared to my Dell 2407, I can't configure it so it is even close to black. Reducing brightness only makes things more dull/grey. Watching any type of 2D video on this monitor such as Blu-rays is terrible compared to my Dell 24", the black levels suck bigtime!

Also the screen seems to have a slightly blue-ish tinge to everything. The only way to change it is to change the Preset mode to Custom (RGB), but that isn't ideal as the screen likes to be in Game mode for 3D.

I can change the Nvidia desktop color settings in the NV control panel but that doesn't apply to everything.

Also, 1:1 scaling on the AW2310 doesn't work. WTF! /verymad.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':verymad:' /> Any non-native resolution just fills the screen.

Anyone else disappointed by the lack of PQ adjustment settings on the monitor and the issues such as 1:1 scaling? Will there be any firmware update to fix issues like that, or will we be left out in the cold?

Ive recently got this moniter and tbh, ive not had any of these issues. Im no expert by any means and i upgraded from a Samsung syncMaster 226BW and this AW2310 is miles better in colour, brightness.

+ you say 1:1 scaling dosent work???? For me it works perfectly. Try looking in the nvidia control pannel and make sure "Use my displays built in scalling is selected" or "do not scale" (mabye?)

I don't have any scaling options at all in my Nvidia CP at all, using newest 196.21 drivers. Using DVI dual-link cable.

EDIT: Ok i've changed to a lower resolution in Windows and the monitor does scale properly - no problem there! so I was wrong about that, so it must be an Nvidia driver problem. So, when I have the Alienware set to 1920x1080 and I run a game in 1680x1050, it just stretches it rather than scaling properly. I'm guessing this is because the options for Nvidia scaling are missing from the CP for me. Running Windows 7 64-bit and GTX280's.

Using DVI and 1920x1080 120Hz, it says "The current HDTV signal format does not support desktop resizing" on the Adjust desktop size and position tab.

My bad! The options arnt there for me either, i was looking at the wrong screen. Kinda odd. But what i said about the 1:1 scalling still stands and it works fine for me.

How come u need this 1:1 anyway?

And just out of curiosty, What preset mode do you use the most? ( in 2d ) or do u use the custom rgb?

Could someone here post a picture of how black text on a grey background looks on the AlienWare display? A closeup would be nice. I found the Acer gives it a whitish outline/shadow - which is really annoying.

Thanx.
