Vision 3D top of screen severe ghosting
Upon further review, I can see about 5% of the top not being in 3D. It appears that everything is appearing in both positions (L eye & R eye) on every redraw. I didn't notice it before in Fallout 3. Anyone have a 32-bit copy of Vista with some of the older drivers installed? I'm currently rather stuck in my driver version for some testing.

Anyone care to tryout the v1.04 3D software with 181.22? Kindly completely wipe out the existing NVIDIA software before installing the older versions.

Well I don't think you will solve something with the drivers.
I have tried 1.07 1.08 1.10 and 1.11 CD driver versions and the only difference between them is a slightly improvement in the later versions.

tried 1.09, 1.10 and 1.11
it works the same... same ghosting

only thing there is a bit less ghosting when running at 100HZ instead of 120

Last thing, this is NOT a monitor limitaion cause many has reported that they have the same problem an a CRT monitor.
I still believe this is a sync issue and i still believe that a slider shoul solve (or limit) the problem.
For example if with the slider i may be able to move the ghosting to the bottom i will happy, cause usually in the bottom there's the hud and usually is not in 3D.

cheers

I've reported it to Samsung as NVIDIA told me it's a monitor limitation.

I can't play because of the massive eye strain and it takes 2 - 3 hours for my eyes to completely readjust. The other guy here has massive eye issues now, red eye, very dry and has needed eye drops for it... the only difference for both of us ?? 3d vision, 3d vision is the only difference in the past week.

But NVIDIA to say it's Samsung? What do we do???

I have been following this thread for a long time and I seem to have one idea stuck in my head.

I have just ordered the glasses and will be using them with an old CRT at 100 / 110HZ. I live in Aus, so I see no need for 120Hz anyway.

I expect to see something similar to what you guys are complaining about, and when I finally buy the LCD with the 120Hz refresh, I expect to see it then, too, most likely.

This is because I believe that it is very difficult for an LCD pixel to go from being very bright, to being very dull in only 1/120th of a second. Therefore timing is obviously a very important aspect of getting this to run smoothly.

I also believe that the LCD and the monitor are not being timed correctly, as it is impossible for the graphics card to know when each pixel will be refreshed on the display.

I therefor think that the display and the glasses are slightly out of time, and that the problem could be fixed if NVIDIA would give us an advanced setting for the timing of the glasses. Even a registry hack would do me...

DLP TV's however use a more advanced technology than LCD's, LCD's are just used because they are small and cheap. DLP's can manage to do the job the graphics card wants them to (refresh the screen very quickly so there is no evidence of the L image when the R shutter is open and visa versa). This is why NO GHOSTING AT ALL can be seen in DLP TV's.

I think that it would be great if NVIDIA would simply give us one thing that we want, and allow us to adjust the timing of the glasses. I don't think this would be an easy job, but I'm sure it would be possible.

Thanks for reading all of that :P

But the difference is, the screens worked perfectly at first... then over time it's now like this.

My screen never did it, it also passed the "test" (there's shapes and if they don't blend, it's fine, if they blend, obviously there's ghosting), with the ghosting it only happens now, it never did before.

It's not something that's to be expected, and if it is, as your post, then NVIDIA should say so on the packaging.

They also shouldn't go around blaming Samsung about it either.

Oh, right, so did everyones start off good and then get ghosting? ie Were some like this to start with? or are some still good after being used for a long time?

Yeah for me, it worked perfectly... but then I noticed it blurring, went to fix it (depth/convergence) and did the testing again, the shapes were all blurred into one (the top row).

I had top of screen gohsting from day 1 and it hasn't changed. My 3d vision hasn't been used for a couple of weeks now as I can't stop focussing on the problem when I play. Pretty depressing actually :(

Well, I got my glasses, and I'm using them on my CRT.

There is quite a lot of blue ghosting. I'm guessing the blue pixels take longer than the red / green ones to change intensity for some reason, but its still OK

The glasses appear to sync with the very top of the screen (ie the timing of the glasses is perfect with the top of the screen). Sadly, since it takes 1/110th of a second for my monitor to get to the bottom of the screen, and the glasses change every 1/110th of a second, this causes problem don the bottom. It seems for the lowest 1/2 an inch, the two images can be seen equally in each eye (ie each eye see's both of them equally well) so I get no 3D effect. Occaisionally, It seems the glasses even change a fraction too quickly, and I get a reverse stereo effect in a very small region at the bottom of the screen.

This could all be fixed if I could somehow delay the glasses by 1/220th of a second, so they could be timed for the middle of the screen...

I have had my issue escalated @ Samsung, they are now going to contact HQ in Korea, and get them to contact NVIDIA.

Hopefully NVIDIA are seeing this, and reply swiftly :)

i have perfect-some gosting, 3d vision with no missing 3d image on the screen. It is the vision bundle (glasses and 2233rz) and i have had it for a month or so. I have played for 50 hours or a more now-crysis, hl1,2 ep1 and 2, tombraiders, bf heros and several others now. There is not problems with any 3d pics ither. I shur hope this is not what i have to look forward to but with what i have read i think you all got bad monitors shiped to u. Sorry about ur luck guys. I really hope this gets sorted out soon as this tec is waaaayyy to cool to have sitting.

Yeah, it seems to be much worse for some than for others. I have a little bit of ghosting towards the top, but nothing like a lot of these poor guys have. Mine is pretty easy to just tune out.

It is really bad, I'm hoping they contact me ASAP.

What am I meant to do with $1000 worth of gear that doesn't work in 3d when it's supposed to be MADE FOR 3d??

hahaha it's almost laughable, seriously.

Hopefully I get contacted soon, but NVIDIA are ignoring my emails now (they were giving me sub 24 hour replies - now it's 1 week and nothing since they blamed Samsung).

Samsung is a close partner of theirs, so I have now told Samsung about this. Samsung blamed NVIDIA.

OH THE JOY.
