How long is your HDMI cable between PC and AVR? Maybe the signal is too weak. Also try shutting down your projector completely when the issue you described happens (unplug power cable). Sometimes the firmware is a bit buggy...
I haven't actually tried other modes - but for me RGB mode with full color range (0-255) set in Nvidia Control Panel works for me without any issues in 4k @60hz. There are also some other color modes - maybe you have set one of these and this is causing the issue.
If you're using an extension cable then you have to use an active HDMI repeater. However 1 single 10 meter cable should work without a repeater. But generally it's better to keep the HDMI cables as short as possible.

Hi Pauldusler. Just got my Optoma UHD50 and I followed all the set up guide but I can't get 3D working. NVIDIA control panel shows the option of "Generic CRT mode" under 3D and it is selected. It didn't prompt me to complete 3D wizard though. I fired up Call of Duty Advanced just to test the 3D, and this game and many other games don't allow choosing screen refresh, only the resolution. I just get a double flashing image and when I press the "3D" button on projector remote it says "not supported". Any idea?
I also tried changing the desktop resolution to 1080p 120hz or max 4K 60hz but same thing. the only difference was that when I chose 1080p 120hz in desktop, when game starts projector switches to 1080p 24hz.
Another curious note - I tried changing the color settings under resolution in NVIDIA control panel, choosing RGB and full dynamic range. It kept reverting back and after few tries it finally stayed.
It's a fresh install of Win10 so I don't have any other games installed yet, but I know that a lot of games don't have the option of screen refresh in their settings. Thanks :)

Probably you had already passed the wizard with a 3D Vision monitore before - then you don't have to complete the wizard again.
Your issue sounds very strange. Did you also try other games? I would start with games where you can set the refresh rate like the Trine series but actually the Nvidia stereoscopic driver forces 120hz for all games.
1080p @24hz sounds like you would be using 3DTV Play and not Generic CRT. Does 120hz work in 2D mode for games? Maybe it's a specific issue with CoD Advanced Warfare. I haven't tried this one in 3D yet so maybe you have more luck trying other games.

It might be a corrupted driver install, try re-installing using DDU

Good news - IT WORKS!!! Woww 3D Vision in Full HD 1080p on a projector screen looks absolutely incredible. I had given up on 3D gaming on projector coz of low resolution 720p 3DTV Play/TaB with HDMI Checkerboard, but the image improvement is huge. I'm back in the game lol. Best purchase, worth every dollar. Big thanks and credit to Pauldusler for letting us know about this projector.
@ Pauldusler, you're right. The games would automatically choose the highest refresh rate normally. This was one of my headaches with 3DTV Play coz I had to manually force lower refresh. None of that crap is needed with UHD50.
@ D-Man11, yah it turned out to be a driver bug. I believe switching from a 3DTV Play device to Generic CRT device confused the driver. It kept working kinda like in 3DTVPlay mode. All weird things were happening, like the refresh rate option was gone from COD Advanced Warfare menu, NVIDIA settings wouldn't stick and revert back, 3D was a double image mess, and driver crashes. I was in a rush that day so quickly checked 3D in 5 mins. A simple restart fixed everything now. All good now.
A few findings - When I set game refresh to 120hz the 3D sync would reverse every few seconds. Changing refresh to 119hz fixed it completely. Also interesting - while with DLP glasses 3D is perfect, I could also see 3D image with 3D Vision glasses without turning on projector 3D coz the emitter lights up. This was only in 120hz refresh. In 119hz 3D Vision glasses don't work at all. Unfortunately 3D Vision glasses can't be used as the image is totally out of sync and cycles between good 3D and then several colors and double image repeatedly. Kinda hard to describe but I read here someone was having this issue while trying to get 3D working on UHD51.
Anyways, I love 3D on this projector and my Benq HT2050 is going on ebay lol.

Nice that it works now! Initially I also had the issue with reversing eyes every few seconds. Maybe it was due to an old RTSS version because when I closed it the issue was gone. Also enabling DSR in Nvidia Control Panel seemed to fix it. I would have to retest this. But for me the issue is completely gone.
Btw how did you force 119 Hz in 3D mode? Normally the Nvidia driver automatically forces 120 hz - so how did you do that?
Last time I tried the projector with 3D Vision glasses the sync was stable (to my surprise - before I had the same issue like you) but there was ghosting. When enabling DLP sync flash the ghosting was completely gone but glasses had to be worn upside down and black levels were poor because of the flash not being filtered out.
Which DLP glasses are you using? I'm still searching for better ones which combine lowest ghosting + comfort + highest brightness.

Awesome Captain 007 :) Full Hd 3d feels like "Next-Gen"
Looks like people buying the Uhd50 thanks to the information from PaulDusler.
Helped me alot
About Forcing 119Hz in 3D, set desktop settings to 119hz. then you can select it in-game.
I had it one time in Dead Space 3 , that the eyes kept reversing over and over.
Still don`t know what happened there. thought I changed to 119hz but not sure though.
Also little question is it possible to set the 3d depth multiplier below 0.1?
I got my depth mostly at 1 bar because if i set it to 2bars it is to hard on the eyes.
While with my benq i could go max depth. is this because of Generic mode?
Still very impressed by this projector :)

@Pauldusler The game menu has the option of changing refresh rate. This was mysteriously gone when I first installed the projector. In my case the 3D Vision glasses only work in 120hz, whether DLP sync in projector is enabled or not. In 119hz they don't work at all. Today I'm off and can do some further testing. I haven't even aligned and secured the projector on it's mount yet. Today I'm home and can do some detailed testing. I'll report back :)

@frank.binnendijk you'd have to use the 3D Fix Manager or play around with combination of depth/convergence to find the sweet spot. Yes it is due to CRT mode, but usually I leave the depth lower and change convergence, and I always find a better 3D in between.

So I had some time today to thoroughly test the projector. No issues whatsoever today :) It worked flawlessly in both 120.00hz and 119.88hz with DLP glasses. No eye reversing issue or ghosting or anything. This projector is kinda like 3D vision ready lol. 3D Vision glasses don't work as there's severe ghosting like you said Pauldusler.
The only other thing I have been noticing these days, and forgot mentioning last post, my desktop is kinda zoomed-in and enlarged. When I go to Windows desktop settings, it doesn't show the resolution or allow me to change it there. I can only change resolution through NVIDIA control panel. All application, tabs, and windows are enlarged except NVIDIA control panel which is super small and sharp lol. I have to sit close to screen to be able to read NVIDIA settings. Aside from it eveything else is kinda zoomed-in. Any idea?
I was also kinda playing around with projector display options. As someone mentioned here, Ultra Detail is an absolute must; it sharpens the image considerably. I also found that setting "Display Mode" to "HDR Sim" gives the best blacks and contrast. There are lots of other settings that I haven't checked yet such as color etc, so the image quality can be improved a lot more through proper calibration. If anyone found the best settings and results it would be great to share :)
Oh and Pauldusler I forgot to answer your q about glasses. I use the EStar America ESG601 DLP glasses. They are very high quality, come with nose piece, no ghosting, and they're very good looking too. Unfortunately they're no longer available. No one knows what happened to the company. Their website is down and the glasses are nowhere in stock. No word on what happened. They were on a bit of higher price range of over $60.
When I first bought my Benq HT2050 I searched for DLP glasses, and quickly found there are numerous options and brands. It quickly became confusing, so I had to do a lot of research and read reviews. Eventually I found a review on Amazon. A guy ordered several major brands and tried them all and returned the ones that didn't do well. EStar America was the winner there. That helped me choose.

Hi captain,
your desktop and apps look zoomed in because windows automatically chooses another zoom level when using 4k resolution. To change this right click on your desktop and choose "display settings". Under "Scale and Layout" choose another percentage value. Settings it to 100% might make texts too small / hard to read so I would go above 100%. The Nvidia Control Panel requires a logout of Windows in order to apply the new zoom level.
I also use HDR simulations because black levels are best here. Btw tomorrow I'll receive my Cinegrey 5D. It took nearly a month ordering it from New York - It was out of stock. The shipping itself to Germany is very fast with DHL Express now. Let's see if it was worth it and if black levels get improved with it :).
It seems like older DLP glasses were considerably better than current ones. When reading through forums I always get the information that the Acer E2W is the best DLP glasses in terms of ghosting but it's no longer sold. The successor Acer E4W is just a relabeled Hi-Shocks glasses and those have generally a lot of ghosting. My last hope is this glasses here:
https://www.amazon.de/Xpand-X105-DLP-XPAND-X105-DLP%C2%AE-LinkTM-Transparent/dp/B00XTAHPXS/ref=sr_1_fkmr1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1547378970&sr=8-2-fkmr1&keywords=xpand+dlp+glasses
It really looks ugly but the guy in the comments said that he previously tried Hi-Shocks glasses and those had ghosting at the edges. But the Xpand-glasses absolutely have no ghosting. Maybe I'll try this one.

Regarding forcing refresh rates, this is one of the things I've been experimenting with using my TK800.
The Nvidia drivers seems a bit 'funny' regarding what Hz 3d mode runs in.
I've spent many hours playing around with this now and have been down various rabbit holes, so I haven't yet 100% got to a conclusion, but when you enable 3d vision it will normally override the desktop frequency. It seems a bit buggy though. Sometimes, if you've run the 3d vision test once in 120Hz, then every single time you come out of it, the driver will reset the desktop frequency to 120, regardless of your desktop refresh rate and regardless of what Hz you chose for 3d vision.
Also and related to this, it seems that the 3d vision drivers care about what the native resolution is set to in CRU/EDID. They will often force it to native, or whichever resolution is top on the CRU detailed resolution list.

Perhaps try
In "Nvidia 3D Settings" tab also enable option "Auto disable Nvidia Stereoscopic 3D when closing games"
and
Have you tried the "Test stereoscopic 3D..." option in the control panel and then select the resolution/refresh rate and hit apply?

You could try using the Acer H5360 override, for whatever reason, that model seemed to have no limitations. The only resulting problem was the red warning message. I used to use it when doing manual downsampling or any weird resolutions. I haven't tried it with any new drivers, things may have changed

Thanks :)

The procedure is in it's website
That helped me choose.
your desktop and apps look zoomed in because windows automatically chooses another zoom level when using 4k resolution.

I think that I read somewhere here that it is possible but really not sure any more. Maybe shaderhackers know how to force 0% 3D depth without pressing CTRL+T
