Someone has tried to use the Preset/ini/Convegence thing in a game with locked Convergence??
Changing the convergence value for a higher value in the ini.
I try some weeks ago the preset/convergence thing and works fine, but i dont have the chance to tested in a game with locked Convergence.
I havent tried it but Id imagine you can use this method. http://www.wsgf.org/news/unlocking-3d-convergence-and-depth-deus-ex-human-revolution-dx9-136431
would work. Problem is I think games with presets take values from presets and plug them into game. Like helix did with Dead Space 2. You change the values then games shadows/ lights / etc will look off.

yes I use latest dll, and I don't have skyrim or me3 so I can't test with them but helix mod works with all the games I mentioned, some of which I even made fixes or improvements for. it's a bit puzzling.
That is puzzling... I went through another list last night (GTA4, Alpha Protocol, Batman Arkham Asylum, Dead Space 1 and 2, Alice Madness Returns) and it works with them as well. It did not work with Mafia 2, Just Cause 2, BFBC 2, but I think in those cases its because they are DX10 or DX11 (Dirt 3 does not work either because it is DX11). If you attach your DX9Settings.ini I will try that and that will at least rule out any differences there. Beyond that, I am out of ideas other than the idea someone had about keyboard differences (but I thought the key codes for 0-9 were pretty universal). Do you have anything else running that intercepts key strokes (like Autokey)? I use this in Dead Space to toggle run/walk but it did not seem to affect the presets working. It's a shame if this only works for some people, its so close to solving the convergence preset requirement everyone wants...

Awesome, I can't wait to try this out. /thanks.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':thanks:' />
I'm fixing gta4 and that was only for crosshair, actually I've fixed the doubling issue near the water too and now I'm trying to fix shadows.. I hope to release the fix tomorrow with a new page on the blog. I can't fix shadows if I don't find the right shader.. tomorrow I'll retry with an older dll.

Yes, a fixed GTA4 would be sweet. I've held off playing this game hoping its 3D performance would be improved by nVidia eventually. Good luck, mana84!
Also... how would mods like ICEnhancer work with 3D Vision? I always assumed it would make it worse, since it adds mostly new lighting, shadow, and post-processing effects that typically break in 3D. Anyone try that yet?

Hi - I know the problem. You need to remove the comments at the end of the preset key declarations, and then it works:
I feel a bit responsible for it as well since my original post had the extra comments "//8 key" or whatever. Sorry about that. At least its been tracked down in the end...
Your file did not initially work for me, then I remembered the inline comment problem (I encountered initially as well), removed the comments and now your own file works with me.

Hi - I know the problem. You need to remove the comments at the end of the preset key declarations, and then it works:
Preset1Key = 56
Preset2Key = 57
Preset3Key = 48
DefPreset = 1
This is true of all entries in the ini file.

lol. well that is a relief. thanks a lot, it works now. awesome sauce.
gone are the days of having a choice during cutscenes between turning 3d off and risking headaches! helix mod FTW
Hey that's great to know :-)
I also tried something else that helps with setting these presets up in the first place, and I referred to it in my first post. I think I will do a new thread for this to give it some visibility, now that I am more confident it will work for people. Using the game Toy Soldiers I set up a settings file which defined the preset keys, but kept the preset definitions *empty* initially, like follows:
I started the game, and the view default was as follows:
- depth 100%, my own default setting
- convergence : way off
I then:
- pressed the first preset key ("9" in my example) then I adjusted convergence and depth until I liked what I saw, and pressed Ctrl-F7.
- pressed the second preset key ("0" in my example), zoomed into the view where I control a turret which requires a different convergence setting, then I adjusted convergence and depth until I liked what I saw, and pressed Ctrl-F7.
I was then able to toggle between key "9" and key "0" to get the different presets.
On closing the game, looking in the DX9Settings.ini file shows that the separation and convergence have been saved to it for next time.
On starting the game, it this time defaulted to the preset 1 (because of DefPreset=1).
Each time depth and convergence are changed and Ctrl-F7 is pressed, the Helix DLL remembers the 'current preset being used' and updates that, so you need to always press a preset key before making changes so you can keep track of which one gets updated.

It's a shame if this only works for some people, its so close to solving the convergence preset requirement everyone wants...
Ok I have tested with dead space. not working. the rest of the helix fix works however. this is the .ini. (renamed to txt for simplicity). I tried setting my keyboard to US english, no help. also updated to new whql driver.

Hi - I know the problem. You need to remove the comments at the end of the preset key declarations, and then it works:
Preset1Key = 56
Preset2Key = 57
Preset3Key = 48
DefPreset = 1
This is true of all entries in the ini file.
I feel a bit responsible for it as well since my original post had the extra comments "//8 key" or whatever. Sorry about that. At least its been tracked down in the end...
Your file did not initially work for me, then I remembered the inline comment problem (I encountered initially as well), removed the comments and now your own file works with me.

gone are the days of having a choice during cutscenes between turning 3d off and risking headaches! helix mod FTW

[General]
Preset1Key = 57
Preset2Key = 48
DefPreset = 1
[Preset1]
UseSepSettings = true
[Preset2]
UseSepSettings = true
