Hi,
i'm using a PS2 keyboard with Windows XP Prof SP2, a PCI-e 6600GT, Nvidia driver 71.89 with appropriate stereo driver, stereo deactivated for testing.
After being some time in direct3d mode suddenly the keyboard stops responding. Even enabling/disabling caps lock isn't possible anymore.
The only way to to leave the 3d application is to power down the PC with the power off button on my office keyboard.
I had this problem already with a totally different system and 61.76 driver. Only falling back to 56.72 driver cured the problem. I hope there is a better solution around?

I have seen a thread about this on stereovision.net it has to do with multimedia keyboards but I don''t know what to tell you, try those forums and see if you can find any info on that

I have had this problem too quite a few times. Best way to get rid of it is to deinstall the drivers and use detonator destroyer or something like that (forgot the name of the recent programm used for that) to remove those last "bits and bytes" of the drivers. THEN do a new install of both the detonator and stereo driver.
Should work.

I had the same thing - not only would the keyboard die completely without warning, but I couldn't use Ctrl, Shift, or Alt in combination with other keys. Nor could keys used by the nVidia 3D be used for anything - eg I couldn't use T, or G cos they are used to turn stereo on/off and increase gamma. Similar for many function keys.
All a bit weird, but I followed Geert's advice, uninstalled, ran Nasty File Destroyer, rebooted and restarted. Have just played one game since doing that, and seems to be working fine now (touch wood, kiss my lucky rabbit's foot etc)
