James Cameron's Avatar: The Game

Admittedly I didn't read it all, but I didn't see anything about it being FPS.

Wow it didn't get the rating as I would have expected.

"If you decide to fight for the RDA, Avatar: The Game plays as a third-person shooter, offering plenty of guns and war machines to take down the flora and fauna. Fight for the Na'vi and you'll instead wield primitive though effective clubs, staffs and knives. Limited ranged combat is in store for the Na'vi fighter as well through a machine gun and a bow and arrows, but the majority of the action is up close and personal. Though both sides have similar special powers to call upon, this setup makes for two drastically different experiences."

The low score is why I didn't get the game so my knowledge wasn't based on hands-on experience. Who knows, maybe someone on these boards has played it and can clear this all up.

I have it but haven't got to the Na'vi branch off yet... Plus I'm kinda stalling hoping nVidia gets a f*cking driver fix out for CRT/DLP users. As it is, I'm playing on 1.13 driver which has no profile for the game.

I'd recommend this game to anyone who plays in 3D whether you like you like 3rd person or not. The 3D is amazing. And yes I as well hope the DLP gets in the next Drive update. If they discontinue my TV I'm gonna be so pissed. /sorcerer.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':sorcerer:' />

I'll buy it no matter what.
I knew from the demo that the game would be pretty but average, but the game has native stereoscopic engine with support for almost every single 3D display out there. This is a trend that we must encourage as much as we can.

The 3d is amazing but the performance drop is just too much that it drops well below 30fps alot of the time so it wont be getting my hard earned readies until i have Fermi at least.

It's the crap driver conflicting. I can get good framerate in 3D on my modest system (8800 gts 512, dual core, 4 gb RAM) @1600x1200 all settings high/ultra high except physics - medium. I have to toggle on the nvidia drivers NOT the Enable 3D option in the game. So, 3D has some serious anomalies but the performance is definitely 30+ FPS. Enable 3D in the game in the jungle makes it play like a f**king slideshow. I can't get the new drivers since they decided to ignore CRT/DLP users completely.

I have played only demo and with GTX295 it is ~30 fps in the jungle with all settings maxed.
But only in DX9 because in DX10 sli is not working in stereo in this game.

So with GTX295 fps are relatively good.

Everything is working fine here, expect that I can't choose DX10. I just don't have the option.

Theirs a lot of information on this in that thread. I'm not sure if it will help though. I use the 9800 GTX +. Have D11 installed on my PC. I'm able to play the game with it on D10. I don't have an I7 though. My friend and I basically have the same setup except he has he I7 and wasn't able to use D10 with the game either. I'm not sure. /sorcerer.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':sorcerer:' />
