Forced AO in 3D mode a no go?
I had noticed whilst playing Skyrim AO was off, but I checked the Nvidia control panel and it was on. For whatever reason, AO doesn't want to work when I'm in 3D mode. To see if it was a fluke I loaded another game that doesn't support AO through the ingame options, Mass effect. Functions fine when it starts in 2D mode, but in 3D mode it vanishes. Is this normal behavior? Thanks.

Is this 3DTV Play or 3D Vision? I also cannot force AA with 3DTV Play enabled, when it works fine in 2D or with 3D Vision or Tridef.

46" Samsung ES7500 3DTV (checkerboard, high FOV as desktop monitor, highly recommend!) - Metro 2033 3D PNG screens - Metro LL filter realism mod - Flugan's Deus Ex:HR Depth changers - Nvidia tech support online form - Nvidia support: 1-800-797-6530

This is the major problem I have with 3d visions "profiles". It may depend on profile attached to game similiar to physx.(Borderlands 2) If people can list games that do support it, you may be able to try profiles of those games. Certain profiles have certain "compatiblity flags" to support certain features/ fix certain issues. I talk about how to use different profiles here. http://helixmod.blogspot.com/2012/12/farcry-3-shadowslighting-fix-for-sli_24.html Again, I may not be right. But I've ran into profile issues so much that it just sounds like it though their may be a profile to allow forced AO but nothing else will work right. Generally when their is a major problem with a game(besides it just not working) I blame profile.... and I tend to be right. Especially sinced forced AO was added long after release and they generally don't change profiles once added.

Thanks for the responses guys. I suppose its not that big a deal, AO is pretty heavy FPS wise so I don't mind saving some for 3D.

I might look but I seriously have trouble noticeing the forced AO besides FPS drop. A good comparison video would help, its pretty subtle for me.

You can see some comparison screenshots from DCS World here: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=90613 It really enhance shadows making them darker where they should be darker. Mind you this is DX9 engine. But it doesn't work in stereo :(
