Ok, My video cards are gtx 260's sli and i have the latest drivers...The problem is I DONT get 120 hz refresh rate in resolutions below 1680x1050 (max res)...not using 3D vision..meaning i just want to play the game normal but in lower res...The problem can be fixed if i roll back drivers to 181.xxx any higher and the problem begins, but if i do that(roll back drivers)... I wont have 3D capability because you need atleast driver 182.xxx to run stereo...Basically it's a video driver problem and have found no solution..I've tried many programs that are suppose to lock refresh rates but those dont seem to work...again my problem is I cant play a game at the refresh rate of 120 hz if it is below max res with the latest drivers or any driver containing i guess the stereo ones..Is anyone else having this problem ?
btw, You can tell immediately when you are not running at 120 hz, My monitor is the viewsonic one so i dont have an osd..

I don't have either of the monitors yet so I may be incorrect but I believe the 120hz refresh rate only works at max res for both monitors. You say you want to play your games in normal so I am assuming you may be frustrated by the fps when at max res and 3d vision on- you can turn 3d off in the nvidia control panel so your framerates aren't affected while playing in 2d. Must say I am kind of surprised you're not happy playing at 1680x1050 since you have 2 gtx 260s in SLI...maybe you need a better CPU. Like I said, I don't have a 3d vision monitor yet so I might be wrong.

thanks for the reply but the reality is I can get 120 hz on lower res..the problem is... it can only be possible using older drivers that dont support 3d vision and that is my question...how can i force 120 hz on the lastest drivers..

Hi
First off, I believe the ViewSonic LCD only supports 120 Hz at 1680x1050, not other modes. I would be suspicious if you were able to select that mode at lower resolutions with previous drivers.
The best way to confirm this is to download PowerStrip and copy your monitors EDID for us to look at. Its possible you could have an issue with the monitor's EDID.

This has to do with scaling settings.

If set to 'scale by graphics card' then you are allowed to set high refresh rates for lower resolutions.

If set 'scale by monitor' you are only allowed to do the modes in the EDID, and EDID only has 100, 110, 120 Hz for 1680x1050.
