Splinter Cell Conviction : fps issue when 3DV is activated
  1 / 2
Hi, I'm playing the game through Steam, patched with mike_ar69 fix the fix is very satisfying for me, yet: -when 3DV is on, the game is greatly lagging, almost continuously, and this happens even lowering gfx settings -when 3DV is off, the game is very fluid, even with settings maxed out thanks for any suggestion, and sorry for missing any correct one

Yeah, I've had this problem as well. I don't think its just a windows 8.1 problem. It's also a windows 7 problem. Sadly the only way around the unplayable, low frame rates is to disable 3D vision in the nvidia control panel. Ctrl + T does not help.

I have the same problem - so despite spending time to fix the game I find it unplayable as well :-(

Try deleting the profile for the game. I've seen some conflicts with official profiles, and in general the official profiles don't seem to be worth much.

weird thing which I don't know if of relevance: while running the game in 3DV, my 780ti parameters show a low use of the card (40-60%, temperature around 60°)

Have you set 'Prefer Maximum Performance' instead of "adaptative" for "power management mode" in Nvidia control Panel ?

I have set all relevant things in control panel for "performance", but the slowness still exists. It's one of those things (for me) whereby looking in a particular direction (usually towards some enemies *even if they are not visible* e.g. behind a wall or a door) everything slows down to 15-20FPS, but you turn away and you get silky smooth 60 FPS, even if you are looking at a graphically more complex scene with more lights, higher draw distance, and more 'environment stuff'. So I just don't get it. I tried SLI and non-SLI. I have been given advice to try other profiles which I have not had time to try yet, but if that works I will post back. It's a nice looking game, but when it slows down so much in precisley the scenes where you have to aim at and shoot enemies it actually becomes impossible to play (I am bad enough at third person shooters as it is...).

This is a 3D Vision BUG! The same thing happens with my OpenGL-DX-3D Vision wrapper... The same thing I also see in TESO with mike's fix... Funny if you just enable 3D Discover...everything runs as it should (BETTER than 3D Vision as FPS wise but ofc you get the cyan-blue images...not very useful) So, bottom line is 3D Vision driver bug... PS: I remember submitting some bugs regarding the loss in performance starting with 331.xxx drivers...they never fixed them.... so I guess they don't really care... Who uses 3D Vision anymore anyway?:))) (Pun intended) PS: I do not know if this helps or not..but try to enable ShadowPlay, also if you have MSI Afterburner or the likes enabled...quit it completely (the overclock will still apply). I notice a better fps overall in TESO at least...

I'm beginning to think that the latest version of 3D Vision is meant not to work by design, it's a glitch when it actually does! :)

Based on those observations, it would be worth rolling back the driver to 320.49 and see if it still happens.
