Tridef 3D Games?
  1 / 2
Hello I wanted to know from the 3D vision community, if there are any games that don't work well with 3D vision that are better off playing with Tridef 3D? I don't mean the power 3D stuff. but real 3D instead. Thanks

generic for Mass Effect Andromeda. It works pretty well except for HUD. I think I also used generic for dishonored 2. Battlefield 1 profile works well for power 3d in MEA but is flat in real 3d.

I recently played Redout. A futuristic racing game available on Steam. 3D Vision fails to produce a stereoscopic picture. Tridef standard rendering works with a few bugs in the first stage (more annoying in the alter stages) Tridef Power 3D mode with the profile from the game "Obduction" looks excellent in this game. (equivalent technique to the Nvidia compatibility mode) If using the default generic profile, the game has a reversed Z-axis, the auto-focus feature and Power3D are completely lost and produce an almost flat picture. You need to use the Obduction profile to allow these features to work properly

For me Skydrift, Grid 2, Outlast, Diablo III, NFS The Run, NFS Most wanted and Call of Juarez Gun Slinger work better in Tridef than 3d vision. That's it though, all older games.

I haven't used Tridef for a while but I remembered it had worse frame rate impact than 3Dvision. I was now amazed to see that Tridef can run Bf1 multiplayer in S3D with FPS above 60 and with Nvidia is FPS is a disaster (mostly between 45-55). What happened? Did they optimise Tridef? Or is it the 3Dvision to blame?

As a newer game example Far Cry Primal works very good with Tridef, performance is similar to 3DV, maybe even a little better for me. An older example is Prototype 2, Tridef's performance is much better than 3DV for me. @joker18, depends on the game, sometimes Tridef is better , sometimes 3DV, sometimes similar, I tried lots of games and Tridef actually works very good with most of them. Problematic or bad performing games that have Tridef profiles are minority. For anyone that doesn't know, don't use Tridef with DX11 games with an active 3DV Ready monitor, Nvidia cripples Tridef's performance. DX9 games are mostly OK with an active 3DV Ready monitor. If a game visually and performance wise is similar with both Tridef and 3DV, I always choose Tridef. Because it's superior to 3DV in these conditions, it's much more flexible and much more capable than 3DV. I'm currently playing Syberia 3 and 3DV is a mess with this game, but Tridef is great after disabling shadows.

I bought it recently, but was feeling guilty about it. Since I didn't see any benefit to it. I'll mess around with it more.

And I can say the difference is quite huge. I think it mostly has to do with CPU core usage. Unfortunately, now, after I got used to play at 1920x750@104hz on my projector TaB is looking quite bad. I love the crisp image and widescreen that 1920x750 offers.

I might have a look at 3d vision now, seeing I know more about getting it working.
