StarForge - please register to ask for 3D support
  1 / 2
Starforge looks really exciting. It is a huge local space to global sandbox survival game. Think Minecraft but with graphics. It is still alpha so the devs are listening. Please register here to support http://www.forgeforums.com/viewforum.php?f=15 Here is my thread where I have asked for lots of graphic options, DX9 and 3D HUD elements etc. http://www.forgeforums.com/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=3566 or create another. I'm not super keen on these types of games, but I'll register and ask for it because I like this idea of asking before a game is already finished.

I registered and added my support, I think the game looks interesting, the steam page says it will run on dx9 and has dx11 cards for recommended specs, so there is a high chance it'll work.

You know it might already work decently in 3D, have you tried it Andy?

Yeah I bought it to support it. There are some encouraging signs. Lots of graphic options, correctly set skybox and the crosshair is 3D but static. The thread seems positive so far which is cool. edit The selection boxes are 3D! That's really encouraging if you ask me!

That's really good to hear man, I'll pick it up soon and post on the forums I heard it looked promising for 3D so far, I really do think that it's going to be the indie companies that will have a lot more 3D support than the biggies, and a new reason just came to me! First reason, indie games are cheap so to a cashed up guy with a 3D setup hears about support it's more likely to become an impulse purchase. New reason, indies are run by people who are actually passionate about games and technology, unlike the accountants who call all the shots at EA/Activision/Sony/Microsoft/2K.

N1 dudes! @Kolreth You are so right! Small devs always seem to care about their games. CodeHatch consist of like 3 devs in total! I am really chuft that lying, greedy, SOPA, corporate scumbag, John Riccitiello has resigned. I guess he learnt the hard way what happens if you push always on DRM too far to the paying customers.

John wasn't so bad. He took risks like Mirror's Edge, and he was actually a real gamer. Things are going to get worse now he's gone.

Yup, he occasionally took a risk, but for the most part his reign consisted of half assed sequelitis, watering down the elements that made the game stand out in favour of generic crap, microtransactions for everything and always on drm were also his, forcing games out the door when they clearly needed more time, need I go on?

Yeah, but he made Brutal Legend and Mirror's Edge happen. Compare that to Bobby at Activision. John wasn't perfect, but he's a damn sight better than his competition, and I can guarantee that whoever replaces him will be far worse.

Brutal Legend was a double fine production that EA was just the publisher of. It's why there's a PC version now, they published it themselves.

I saw this game half off on Steam, looked up 3D support, found this and the StarForge forums thread, and bought it. I posted on the StarForge forum thread too, pending approval by a moderator. Just FYI andysonofbob, the Minecraft 3D wrapper works fine for me. There might have been some revisions since you last tried, but there are no sound bugs now. I'm not sure of the current state of left/right rendering, but supposedly it's fine if you can maintain a high frame rate. I don't have any problems with it at least.
