So after my not so surprising dissapointment with SLI, ive decided to give the world of nvidia stereo a chance. So what do i need to get stereo running and will my crappy ass 85hz monitor run it?

Forgot one thing. Monitor refresh rates and type of monitor. as you will read in most of these forums, LCD monitors don't work very well in stereo, as they use interleaved instead of page flip. this makes the images look grainier, as it literally cuts the vertical resolution in half in each eye. this is why text is often hard to read at lower resolutions. if you have an CRT monitor, you should be good to go. the higher the refresh rates, the better. I will often times play games at 800x600 because it gets up to 144 hz, and looks much much better in stereo due to the total lack of ANY flicker. check those refresh rates. I wouldn't play a game if I coulnd't get above 100 hz. that's 50hz in each eye. ouch.
The rest is true about video cards being powerful. stereo, I find, cuts my frame rates down by about 20%-30%.
as for the glasses, I like edimensionals, as they have the ability to hook up multiple pairs of glasses, wireless or wired (for those single computer multiplayer games).

I have a Samsung SyncMaster 793df crt, max is 85hz. My 6800gt is more than enough to run stereo. Ill look for those glasses, i did a search yesterday and didnt find much on 3d stereo glasses. I also remember seeing some transparent shutter glasses for like 45 bucks before, any one know what theyre called? Theyre in the shape of the paper anaglyph ones.

Its better than nothing. Logic says that my max fps then would be something like 42, but 42 is good enough. I used to play games at that any ways. /haha.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':haha:' />

You effectively half the hz of your monitor when using shutterglasses. So to be as comfortable as you would be watching the TV, you need a monitor pumping out 100-120hz

Fps has everything to do with your refresh rate. If your max refresh rate is 85 then your max fps is going to be 85, even though more than that will be rendered by your card, the amount that youll actually see is 85. My max fps then would be 42 because half of 85 is 42.5 something like that. Also your eyes see at 60 frames per second, so more than 80hz would be pointless for me the average user. 42fps is fine depending on what youre doing, movies i think are filmed at 24 fps, and tv is 29 fps.
What ever, my card will be able to max out the fps anyways.

You have missed the point I'm afraid, as you will discover when your folks purchase your shutterglasses for you.
I will not attempt to explain further because I feel that your many recent posts around these forums have been very opinionated, often very wrong and more often and much worse than that, insulting to various members of nZone who are simply here to assist each other with various technical problems.

I trust you will, at 15 years old, have the time to modify your behaviour and attitude before it becomes irrevocably a part of your personality. You will no doubt look back on your time spent here with embarassment.

The Problem with low refreshrates in stereo is flickering. With your 85 Hz each eye will get 42,5 Pictures per Second. That´s far too less for good (flickerless) gaming.
The old TV-standard which was realy bad, is 50 Half-Pictures with a PAL-System. A good TV is handling now 100 Hz. So, if your CTR can handle 100 Hz, you get just that old TV-quality of 50 Hz in stereo.

Shutters are all the same, best to get the cheapesst ones possible. You can usually find ELSA Revelators for <20$ in eBay.
We are here to help.
Good luck.
