How to remove 3D Vision Discovery without removing 3D Vision? :(
  2 / 3
mistersvin: doesn't work for me. Once the 3D Vision Discover option is checked, I can only change back inside NCP. Second card, I mean, it all began when i plugged in the hdmi tv cable in my second gfx. Maybe my setup is more vulnerable for these kind of problems, but it's no big deal, I just have to open NCP before going 3D. TsaebehT, D-Man11: I'll try changing monitor 1-2 and the overriding EDID thing, thanks for tips.

Same problem here. I just disable it in the control panel. Then it is fine. If there is a more elegant way to disable it forever, I am open.

I'm curious, what everyone's 'AnaglyphEnabled' Value is in the Registry is. I don't have the option to use Discover at all and mine is set to 'deadbeef' ... in fact I don't have the option to use any other type of Display. It's just set as a Mitsubishi 3D HDTV, with no drop-down option to change.

lol, I've always wondered why they choose deadbeef for that. I enabled anaglyph on my VG278HE and it still shows 0xdeadbeef (3735928559) When I swap back and forth, I'm not noticing any changes. When you have regedit open, does the registry update in real time?

No, you have to manually Refresh it in RegEdit, View > Refresh or F5.

I looked at iondrive's registry thread that he did in 2009. deadbeef did not change for him either. https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/409313/3d-vision/post-registry-entries-here-user-documented-3d-registry-entries/
--- Anaglyph entries: This is generally known as red/blue-glasses-3d even though it's usually red/cyan. Red lens over left eye and cyan over right. From old-school nvidia stereo-3d driver 162.50 using winXP, here are the anaglyph-related entries in: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\NVIDIA Corporation\Global\Stereo3D] "AnaglyphEnabled"=dword:deadbeef --- deafbeef? Is that a joke? This does not change when I de/select anaglyph mode so I guess it's just a leftover registry entry that's not used anymore but is kept for some kind of legacy reason. That's just a guess though. --- tweaking filter colors (have fun, tweak away): "LeftAnaglyphFilter"=dword:ffff0000 --- left eye color in four components: ff,red, green, blue "RightAnaglyphFilter"=dword:ff00ffff --- right eye color in four components: ff,red, green, blue So for ColorTone(tm) glasses try yellow ($ffffff00) for left and blue ($ff0000ff) for right. It wasn't perfect for me but I guess you can tweak either the settings or your monitor's tint/color-temperature to make it better. Also, the glasses that came with the "Journey to the Center of the Earth" movie were green ($ff00ff00) and magenta ($ffff00ff) so you can use those if that's what you have. I'm guessing the first ff might be alpha. Please post if you know better.
StereoViewerType is what actually changes it, the Drivers go crazy trying to overwrite this Setting if I have a script keeping it where I want it. Just going into the Control Panel the Drivers overwrite it 3 times, when running the 3D Test app it was overwritten 7 times ... but in the end my script kept it where I wanted it. Now I'm really curious what everyone's StereoViewerType is ... mine was originally (0x)310000(MitsuDLP) ... it was 110000 when it was setup as a Generic DLP when I was passing through my Onkyo RCVR before. I tried a few low numbers, like 1 seems like CRT(OldShutterGlasses?), 2 was anaglyph, 3 seems like DLP(well it worked anyway) and 4,5,6 were anaglyph ... then the kid kicked me off the TV. :) You guys might be able to lock the Stereo3D Key after it's setup properly, I've had weird issues trying that before like I couldn't take any screenshots ... and unfortunately there's no way to just lock a Value, it has to be the whole Key. Some interesting stuff in that link, especially the RHW stuff, not sure if any of it is useful any more as the Drivers like to overwrite everything every 2ms ... but I'll poke around in it some more when I get a chance. Edit: There's also "StereoMonitorID" ...

Those values do not seem to change for me, I even ran the Stereo test each time before refreshing the registry to observe the settings. VG278HE StereoMonitorID 0x027e36904 (669214980) StereoViewerType 0x80000001 (2147483649) EDIT: 4/22/15 StereoViewerType should be 0x00000001 for "Asus 120Hz 3D LCD", I didn't refresh the registry, oops

Hmm, you tried changing it to 1,2,3? Well you do have other options in the Control Panel though so it wouldn't try to force you out of a 'supported' mode ... even though my DLP can do anaglyph perfectly fine. On older Drivers(320.49.iirc) I had more options, if I plugged into the TV setup up 3D Vision and then plugged into the Switch/RCVR and rebooted I'd get CRT, Discover and Generic 3D DLP ... which still worked at 1080p60. At one point when they broke it for me I was able to lock the Key and select CRT in the Control Panel and it still used the Generic DLP it was locked at but I think they broke that for me too, eventually I just gave up on 5.1 sound ... not that I've been able to use it much lately. Thanks for the info, who knows maybe we can make some use of it ... it sucks that they lock everything out, I have an emitter connected to the PC at all times. I should have every available option at my disposal.

I do not have any problems. I was manually switching it in the control panel, just to see if those values changed. You said....
Now I'm really curious what everyone's StereoViewerType is
So I posted mine for you ;)

Ok, yeah I wasn't sure how/what you were trying ... that's really odd though, you 'physically' change it to anaglyph yet the Registry Settings don't change? ... man 3D Vision is so mucked up, use the registry, don't use the registry, save the profile in a folder, don't use the profile in the folder. It's really a joke ... how can something that looks so good be such a gd mess!? SMH. Seriously, it does USE the Registry Setting ... not only does it try NOT to use the Setting 7 times, it writes the Registry 7 times and eventually just ends up using the ANYWAY. Lol.

BTW, we could add some options to 3Dmigoto to fix these sorts of problems. Similar to the depth hack, rather than having to keep rewriting the registry, or making sure they don't change in the registry, we could add a Deviare style check for that registry key and just return what we want, specified from the d3dx.ini file. Not sure that's worth the effort, since we have some workarounds, but figured I'd ask.

It might be worth it if we can find settings worth keeping in check, like the MonitorSize/DepthHack ... either way it's creating a dependency on a script or dll. I've been poking around when I can trying to figure out what I can pull off in the Profile vs what I can pull off in a script, what works, what's useful and how many things I can keep in check, it might hit a point that the script just isn't fast enough. The only reason I even started poking around in the Registry this time was because I was trying to make the screenshots for the beginner's guide and they weren't coming out cross-eye-able like they usually do, they were coming out L/R instead of R/L, and I was hoping to fix it via settings and not have to edit all of them after I capture them.

Anyone come up with an actual way to remove the 3d discovery option? Whenever I turn off my monitor or reboot I have to change this or it starts games in that red color.

I don't think there's a way to remove it but there may be a way to create a task that runs on startup to set it back to your original settings, try this for me save the following code as Settings.bat and when your 3D is setup properly run it, it'll spit all the 3D settings out to a file, then reboot and run it again and it'll spit out any differences in the Stereo3D reg key to SettDiff.txt so we can see what's changing.
@Echo Off SetLocal EnableDelayedExpansion if Exist "%PROGRAMFILES(X86)%" Set $Wow=Wow6432Node\ Set $Key="HKLM\SOFTWARE\!$Wow!NVIDIA Corporation\Global\Stereo3D" if Exist Settings.txt ( For /F %%? in (Settings.txt) do (Set "%%?") > SettDiffs.txt ( For /F "tokens=1,3" %%? in ('Reg Query !$Key!^|Findstr REG_') do ( if "!%%?!"
