3D Surround on a single Titan X
I know this question has somewhat been answered but honestly I am a bit confused. I decided to upgrade to a single card solution and get a titan with possibly going SLI in the future. My monitors all have display ports and I notice the card has three display ports as well, but only 1 dvi port. Can I just use the DP connections instead? thanks

Thanks for the reply. I guess I am looking at old information, cause I keep seeing threads where you need to use a DP to DVI adaptor due to 3d vision only being on the DVI dual link standard, so this has changed?

I can confirm you can do 3 displayport monitors in Surround on a Titan X, even 4k each. Whether you can do 3d at a given resolution is a different story. I don't do 3d (my monitors only do 60Hz), so I have no idea.

I understand you can do surround, but the key word here is "3d surround" which brings its own challenges, I guess it comes down to my particular monitor capabilities? ASUS VG248QE I'm seeing posts that it will work but only 30hz in each eye.... ummm. Can anyone confirm if I am going to have to buy an adaptor to get it going properly? Cheers

Starting with GTX 680s, it's possible to do Surround/3D Vision Surround and an accessory monitor with a single GPU. If the monitors use DVI Dual Link, you will need an Active Display Port Adaptor for 3D Vision surround if using a single GPU. The GTX 690 has 3 DVI Dual Link connections, but I'm unsure if they all work if SLI is disabled. If the monitors have a display port connection, you can do 3D Vision surround using a GTX 680 or newer provided that it has 3 Display ports out. This will require that you use a driver that is no older than when the monitor was first included in the drivers. Also keep in mind that some of the Newer GPUs that have 6 output connections tie some of the outputs together. So say if you use A display port that is tied to one of the DVI outputs, the DVI output is deactivated. In other words, any of the outputs that are tied together, you can only use one or the other. See the manufacturers documentation specific to your GPU. Also keep in mind that there are multiple reports of outputs failing on newer GPUs. Just read the Newegg reviews. So if you are having any trouble, make sure you trouble shoot each connection individually, one at a time. Also keep in mind that using a fourth accessory display can be problematic. I recommend reading the surround forum.

Just to update, I got some 1.2 DP cables and hooked it all up and so far it looks like its working fine. Listed as being 120hz in the Ncp and monitor properties. =) Appears to be working well in Witcher 2 surround 3d. Thanks guys

Keep in mind that a dedicated PhysX GPU can be really helpful in PhysX games. Especially with the increased resolution of 3D Vision surround. So if you have an extra PCI Express slot and are playing a PhysX game, it wouldn't be a bad idea to install one at least temporarily for that game.

Funny you should mention that. I'm actually using the other 780 I have from my old configuration as a dedicated PhysX card which Im sure is overkill for that purpose =) *definitely seeing a huge fps increase in the borderlands games in 3d surround with a dedicated card for physx
