Cool f2p flight combat game on Steam. Controls take some getting used to if you don't have a proper flight stick, but my xbox controller works ok.
Seems to work almost perfect in 3d! Even the crosshair is 3d! Only issue I found was water reflections, which are only slightly off, and since you're mostly in the air, it doesn't matter. But WOW, the 3d flying is great! I can't even imagine how 2d players judge distance anymore with flight games. Played for a couple hours so far...

This is one of the few games where 3D actually does provide an advantage in a competitive setting I feel like. The gameplay is slow enough so that the penalty to twitching doesn't matter and gauging distances is a very crucial element of gameplay.
Usually 3D just provides more immersion. This really is one of the very, very few titles where it boosts your ability to perform too.

Just wanted to leave this here for future googlers wanting to play WT in 3D. (sorry for necrothread)
Though this is an old thread I wanted to post my findings with the current version of War Thunder (1.47) in 3D:
If you're running Dx11 (auto setting in launcher) the following settings cause problems:
- Shadows (the game renders the 2D shadow instead of a 3D shadow);
- Haze (also rendered in 2D instead of 3D);
- Water reflections (these are in 3D, but the placement is 180° wrong for the 2nd reflection);
If you're running Dx9 (Win XP or Dx9ex setting in launcher) the following cause problems:
- Haze;
- Water reflections;
Shadows work fine in Dx9, but I often get Dx9 related crashes and/or stutters during gameplay.
The aiming reticle works fine in air battles, but in ground battles (tanks) the aiming reticle is at screen depth instead of scene depth (unplayable) regardless of renderer setting.
Also the bombsight and tank sniper view are rendered in 2D instead of 3D.
So, planes work fine, tanks do not (yet).
If you're running SLI then you may have issues with stutter or water missing for one eye, someone fixed this by switching to AFR1 in nvidia inspector, but your mileage may vary.
