Little confused on 3DTV Play...
Let me get this straight, in order to plug my computer into my Samsung PN50C8000YF and play games in 3D I need to purchase the 3DTV Play software and use an Nvidia 400 or higher series GPU?

Why isn't the 3DTV Play software free (or included in the GPU drivers)?
Why can't I use one of my GTX 285's with the HDMI adapter and an HDMI 1.4 cable? I have it all setup to output HDMI + audio via SPDIF using the included SPDIF cable to connect it to my motherboards SPDIF out...

It isn't free, because NVidia decided to charge for the additional work in the drivers.
You can buy iZ3D or the Tridef drivers to get the same thing.
I think the issue with NVidia cards prior to the 4 series is that they can't output an HDMI 1.4a signal which the TV requires for the 3D modes. I have no idea if this is a hardware or software limitation.

You do not need 400 series or higher card. 285 will work just fine:

Oh awesome, I didn't see that and must have been reading a previous list when the 285 wasn't supported!

When will I be able to get 3DTV Play without needing 3D Vision? Not going to buy 3D Vision glasses and transmitter that won't work on my PC monitor just to use my TVs 3D support...

They seemed to have released the 3DTV Play for $40 purchase just today:

Someone said there should be 14-day trial version but I have not found a link to it yet.

From that thread it sounds like the software will eventually be one installer with an option to input a key at install or select free trial. When you installed yours was there an option like this?

I'm going to try and see if I can somehow use my friends 3D Vision kit to let me download this for free, it says I just need the 3D Vision IR transmitter so I'll look into it. I mean, it's free for 3D Vision owners but not for people that spent $400 on an additional card for SLI? That hardly seems fair, imo it should be free for anyone running an SLI setup as well.
