Bought my first 3d blu-ray today, Judge Dredd. Don't have any other blu-ray movies.
Got home, put it in computer... nothing can play it.
I have 3D Vision Video Player, but damned if I know what file I'm supposed to try and load, I suspect it cannot play blu-rays.
Google the web, search this forum. Not much info, little I can find seems to suggest I need to buy Cyberlink software that costs about $100.
Windows media player can't handle even plain blu-ray, let alone 3d. And there's no "Open with..." option if I right click the blu-ray, so I can't even control what program the movie gets shunted to when I open it.
Ok. Consider me a pretty disappointed consumer. No support from Nvidia, no support from Microsoft. Will not be buying any more 3D blu-rays.
Hmm, what's this "torrent" thing... Oh my god, side-by-side mp4 3d movies as far as the eye(s) can see, and so easy to play on Nvidia 3D Vision Video Player! Piracy, you truly love the consumer, you make things so easy, I wish I could give you money.
Pity that would be illegal though, I'm a strictly a wimpy, obedient, law-abiding, non-VPN using consumer.
(Ok, sarky layer 8 rant over. If anyone happens to know how to play a 3D blu-ray on a Windows computer WITHOUT having to spend another $100 on player software, I'd greatly appreciate the knowledge.)

I am but a simple consumer, I know not where to apportion blame (Everyone always just blames everyone else anyway).
Will take your "3D blu-ray sucks, man" advice though.

Yeah, I know... and?
Don't worry, I've been around the 3D Vision block. I know perfectly well that absolutely nothing said here, or anywhere, will actually ever fix anything, even if it were directly their problem.
I was just wondering if other users had 3d blu-ray movie solutions, since 3d vision users are often pretty ingenious and succeed at making things work despite the best efforts of Nvidia, or Microsoft, or whoever you think I should be blaming.

Corel's WinDVD Pro can often be bought cheap on sale, it lacks the bells and whistles of Power DVD Ultra.

The other option is to rip the Blue-ray to your hard drive, then play it from the new file. It's a legal/illegal grey area. Fair use, says it's legal, the Digital Copyright Millennium act says otherwise.

Also the Nvidia Player can be updated but doesn't support Blue-ray "disc" playback.

PM ME an I will get you going I use it on my 3D Rig and it works wonderfull:

Nvidia's player is licensed from Stereoscopic Player, it's the same thing.
Nvidia's player is outdated but can be upgraded via the link I posted above.
Are you saying that you can play Blue-ray "discs" using it?
EDIT: It can play discs, but requires a decryption tool.
Initial test of WinDVD is very good, Dredd looks excellent in 3d, much better than some other movies I've seen. I don't know if this is because WinDVD is a better player, or Dread is a better 3d movie, but it has vastly more depth than when I watched a side-by-side version of "Five Armies" on Nvidia Movie Player.
Had some install issues first time though. It's a pain, they want emails and account creation for the free trial. Fair enough. So I installed it, and first thing it did was say it needed to do a patch update, would I like to proceed?
Sure, why not?
Download update, it installs, then declares I have an invalid registration code and promply uninstalls.
Ok... try again, reinstall the first file from scratch. Say "No" to the update, at that point it runs well.
The_Nephilim, thanks for the info, if I have problems with WinDVD I'll look into it.
