Deus Ex Human Revolution

Ok tried this with resident evil 5 and it's amazing, you can tweak depth and convergence without a problem, and unlike deus ex, it doesn't have any issues with light/shadows etc so you can use as much depth/convergence as you like, still not the best 3d around but way better than Capcom locked 3d. Tested with dx9.

Using the wsgf workaround fixed the SLI issues and the game runs better now. Adjusting depth and convergence is very limited as everything just gets messed up once you increase the values to get a better 3D effect. I found it best to set depth at a very low value and then increase convergence up until the image starts getting messed up again and then just decrease it back a notch. It's better than it used to be and I'm glad they at least gave us some support for 3D Vision and not just leave it be like many other game studios would have.

"I will try and post a few screens later but right now I would only rate this game as FAIR in 3D Vision with the new official patch that supports 3D Vision."

From the looks of the screenshots I wouldn't even give it that. I measured the separations and close objects are exactly as far away as distant objects. What's the point of 3D if everything is at the same depth? Technically it's 3D but practically speaking it's still in 2D, it's just that the 2D plane appears to be an inch or two behind the screen. Even Crysis 2 gives you a little 3D before it decides to plaster everything on a plane.

I agree with Birthright - this is worse than no 3D at all. Potential 3D Vision customers are going to see this and think 3D Vision is pointless.

Yeah maybe if there was a Poor rating or just switch it to Not Recommended might be better.

But ya its really odd what's going on with this game, like there's something wrong with their renderer. Maybe Eidos/Nixxes is applying their separation offset after all the buffers are composited to texture, so all objects are at the same depth? Nvidia's solution/driver perhaps calculates separation amount using one of the intermediate buffers that still has proper depth values, but results in incorrect lighting/shadows as a result once composited? Just really frustrating because none of the solutions are good enough imo, although Nvidia's solution clearly hints at the full potential of this game in 3D.

There is an easy way to enable Nvidia 3D drivers adjustments for depth and convergence (unlocked), even after latest patch and running Missing Link, please check this thread at WSGF - widescreen gaming forum, it includes two screenshots for comparison (in-game 3D settings and Nvidia drivers adjustments).

Thanks for this, it brings 3D functionality back to similar levels of Helifax's workaround, only thing is no DX11 support. Nice thing is it will work with Steam copies without any additional workarounds.

This works great (only with dx9 though) however lots of things not working properly, mostly lights and shadows. However this game works really well with the 0 depth - high convergence approach to give a really good 3d effect without any issues, so it's finally playable with a decent 3d for me yay!.

If I recall well this method was first used on witcher 2 right? I think I heard it worked with resident evil 5, I'm going to give it a try too.

Idk I still wouldn't call it good with the no depth high convergence approach, as its still "almost 2D" with virtually no separation at all. The biggest problem I have is that if I tweak convergence enough to give it a nice toyification effect, it breaks other screen elements like lighting/shadows, which I could live with by themselves. The bigger problem though is it REALLY breaks ironsights/aim-down-sight view for me, so the game makes you choose between passable 3D or broken ADS with this method. I can get the ironsights to line-up but it just goes back to looking like the native HD3D flat world view.

What happens though when you pull out your weapon? I was able to achieve similar with low depth and extreme convergence and it gave me good depth and separation in the background, but everything in the foreground fell apart in the process, particularly the weapon. You can see how broken the weapon is in the foreground but the hallway looks good with nice separation and depth. Attached screenshot below.

wow, what 3D does to that simple screenshot [the last one] is amazing, despite the problems. Needs fixing though obviously.

I think we can get that with in game 3D rendering also, as you can see it's real 3D now too, not like before patch. We just need more control.
max 3D plane setting is that closest object are at 0 depth, so some more it so we can make it pop out a bit. And a lot more max depth, i just can't understand why it's so damn low at max? Maybe some FOV adjustment would help also.

PS and the weapon with in game rendering is fine. Cut scenes are messed up though.

When using game own 3D rendering:
-Not too much depth even highest setting, looks like 2D mostly with some depth.
-Is real 3D now, not just 2D plane in depth.
-no popout(GUI have some) even max 3D plane setting, low is useless it makes flat even more flat.
-Gun is rendered right.
-Some issues with cut scenes and clouds(based on very short playtime)

Have not tested that other way, but it definelty have more depth and look much better but gun is rendered wrong. Maybe other issues too.

This patch is a helluva lot better than what we had. First no hack is therefore needed, and second, we can all finely use SLI (for me, I use QUAD SLI). I can't stand having to turn SLI off for some games and on for others.
