The Ultimate Nvidia 3D Vision DLP Display

Starting out with the projector menus, you want to ensure that 3d mode is enabled and that it is set to IR instead of DLP Link. Also you will want to set the 3D mode in the projectors 3D menu to Frame Sequential. You may also need to play with the 3D Sync Invert option, as the projector can lose sync with your game when Alt+Tabbing between game and desktop. I've found that using the VESA sync cable that you got in your Nvidia 3D vision kit keeps the projector from desyncing when Alt+Tabbing(Never thought you'd have any use for that cable, huh?). If you are missing that cable, or you run into the rare desync, there is a Re-Sync button on the projector remote and the projector itself. Within CRU you will want to edit the Product ID from OTM1727 to OTM3032 and after you use the Restart/Restart64 executables the Nvidia driver will recognize the projector as Nvidia 3D Vision Ready.
Thanks for the info. I always wondered if this projector could be cheaper alternative to the UHD40/50 etc. To be clear, you're saying it has an IR 3d mode? That's quite a surprise to me, but in a good way. It used to be available on certified 3d vision projectors, partly so that could disable the DLP sync flash and still trigger 3d mode.I know some older Optoma projectors had a separate 3d module, but I thought it was RF rather than IR. It's been a while though! Cna I ask, when you change the ID to OTM3032, what does it show up as in the Nvidia control panel?
When you switch the EDID over to OTM3032 it is listed in the Nvidia Control Panel as an "Nvidia 3D Vision Ready Projector" and it doesn't list any specific model number. I tried the EDID of several Optoma projectors and found that this one had the least problems with desync and some jarringly broken 3D effects. User John105 has a Geforce Forum post called "List of 3D Vision Ready Hardware" that I referenced to try out the 4 different Optoma DLP EDIDs that exist. The list is in XLSX or CSV format. you can try them all to see what I mean.
I never tested the EDID of the UHD40/50 as they are not supported in this list of hardware posted by John105. UHD40/50 works as a generic CRT with DLP-link glasses, not Nvidia 3D Vision glasses
Yep , it is named OTM3032 , the 1080p60hz was there on the detailed resolutions section , but not the 120hz so I added it
Strange. There was already a 1080p 120hz in either the detailed resolution or the extension block. I never needed to add anything. Are you sure your projector has the latest 120hz firmware? Try using both the restart32 and restart64 exe files after the edit.

If anybody else was able to get this working, let me know. There is user updatable firmware on the Optoma website as well for this specific model if you want to try that for troubleshooting. https://www.optoma.com/us/product/hd27hdr/

sorry for all the questions, do I need just the emitter connected to my PC? I did get a game to show up in 3d, just couldn't get the glasses to go dark, the emitter was on though.

Well you can't have the emitter behind your head, but you can have it off to the side and bouncing the sync signal off of the screen. You'll want the emitter set to full strength in the setup wizard. Also keep in mind that the emitter does beam up at a slight angle, you never really want it above your head. It's an IR emitter and works on line of sight.

C03 M04 is the firmware showing in the projector menu. Not sure what else to try, restart32/64 not working

A post from AVS Forum, this guy apparently installed the UHD40 EDID , I will try this later. "I have been a 3D gamer for over eight years. I started out with an Acer H5360 and for the past two years I have been using an Epson Home Cinema 3700, awaiting the day when a projector with low input lag would enable 1080p 3D gaming at 60 fps. That day is finally here! After reading Gregory's critical review of the Acer V6520 on the PHC Blog, I decided to order an Optoma HD27HDR. It arrived last Thursday. I connected an HDMI cable from my Intel i7-6700K + Nvidia GTX 1080 Ti equipped PC to HDMI 1 on the projector and plugged in a HiShock 3DRF Pro emitter to the 3d sync port. My projector came with the C03 firmware. In Windows 10 device manager, I installed the Optoma UHD40 EDID which Pauldusler posted a link to in the “Optoma UHD 40 / 50 3D Vision Projector (1920x1080 @120 Hz)” thread on the GeForce Forums. I changed the resolution to 1920 x 1080 @ 120Hz in the Nvidia Control Panel and changed the stereoscopic display type to “Generic CRT display” (you need a 3D Vision emitter to be able to do this). In the projector menu, I set 3D mode to “IR,” and 3D Format to “Frame Sequential.” I put the projector in Eco+ mode and changed the color and contrast settings to Gregory's recommendations in his review of the Optoma HD29H. I was able to play Dragon Quest XI, Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit, Super Street Fighter IV, The Witcher 3, and Trine 2 with max settings in 1080p 3D at 60 fps! I had to lower the quality settings in Ys VIII to achieve an acceptable frame rate. All of these games look so much better in 1080p 3D using the Optoma HD27HDR than in 720p 3D using the Epson Home Cinema 3700. I tested the Epson ELPGS03, Panasonic TY-ER3D4MA, and HiShock RF Pro Black Heaven glasses. These glasses all work well with the HiShock emitter. I didn't notice any ghosting in any of the games I played. The HiShock glasses are the quickest to set up, you just press the power button. You need to hold down a button to sync the other glasses to the emitter. The Epson glasses are the best choice for people who wear corrective glasses."

So using the UHD40 EDID , it works. But I get the red warning "attemp to run Stereoescopic 3d in non-stereo display mode, plesae change to an acceptable mode." and the eyes are swapped, using 3d vision eye swapper did not work, but turning my glasses upside down does.

so I have the eyes fixed, but i see no options in the 3d fix manager to remove red error message. The message pops up as soon as 3d vision activates without even loading any 3d applications.

Well I have come to another crossroads in the 3D epic journey.. I am trying to decide if it is time to move to a VR Headset or get the Optoma HD27HDR PRojector.. I currently have a Optoma HD142x Projector that does 1280x720 @ 120Hz but I think moving to 1080P would be good.. Now the down side is we all know by now 3D vision is dead basically so is it time for me to move on and go with a VR Headset vs the Projector..

A 1080p 3D projector on the other hand is a pretty awesome experience in 3D, not to mention the library of pc games that work well with Nvidia 3D Vision on the final supported drivers with added Helixmod support. If you often enjoy 3D Blu-Rays, most of them are still sitting pretty in 1080p territory. 4K may be looming on the horizon, but this projector is a nice middle ground. Can't really go wrong with the price of the awesome features that this projector totes. I personally plan to keep a legacy 3D PC build to use with my projector and my 3D G-Sync monitor. I might just end up building a fresh new second rig in a few years after a few cpu and gpu generations pass. Can't give up on 3D Vision until I've exhausted the game and movie content that has been supported by this awesome community.

Well another thing is with DCS world a Flight simulator is pretty crappy FPS at 1280 x 720 if I goto 1920 x 1080 they might be even worse.. the mission I flew online tonight I was down to 35FPS and that is at 1280x720, I am unsure if I went to 1920 x 1080 it will be even worse.. I know with the VR Headset it is real bad but DCS devs are making an 50% improvement with Headsets.. Plus when I did play some games in 1080P it really did not look much different then 720P so I am unsure if it is even worth it at this point..
