3D vision is a scam
  1 / 3
So i have a Bush 3D HDTV i got at a pretty good price, i can play my 360 in 3D no problem, i can watch movies in 3D via my pc no problem. But i can't play games in 3D without spending £40 on this vision thing, which for some reason needs it own glasses when i already have ones that work perfectly fine? Better yet i check the supported 3D HDTV list: Mitsubishi® 1080p DLP® Home Theater TV: WD-57833, WD-60735, WD-60737, WD-60C8, WD-60C9, WD-65735, WD-65736, WD-65737, WD-65C8, WD-65C9, WD-65833, WD-65835, WD-65837, WD-73735, WD-73736, WD-73737, WD-73833, WD-73835, WD-73837, WD-73C8, WD-73C9, WD-82737, WD-82837, L65-A90 So only Mitsubishi TV's support 3d gaming with nvidia? I don't see where or how this is possible considering there are a ton of working 3D TV's on the market made by all brands? Why does my 360 work in 3D using the same connection but NVIDIA refuses to let the same thing happen on my PC? NVIDIA sponsored by Mitsubishi to make it the only compatible product or something? Even though video isn't entirely supported by the PC still, i just start the movie and switch the tv to side by side to force it to 3D, which pretty much makes any applications or UI features distorted other from the movie. I can remember having a program that let you play most games in anaglyph 3D, which worked on any screen, im pretty sure its discontinued now. Is there any kind of program that would let me at least play Skyrim or any other game that WILL support my tv (side by side or top and bottom). I remember WoW having its own stereoscopic 3D options but they did absolutely nothing when enabled. Cheers.

Hey Alfarjamie, sorry about your frustration. However, I don't quite see how offering software for a price is a scam,. Nvidia 3D works on many different manufactures then just Mitsubishi. You seem to be looking at the wrong product though, Nvidia 3D is a propriety format for the Nvidia 3D ecosystem (E.G. the Nvidia Glasses and an Nvidia supported Dual DVI Monitor.) You need to check out Nvidia 3D play http://www.nvidia.com/object/3dtv-play-overview.html so you can use your TV and your TV's glasses. This connects via HDMI.

http://www.nvidia.com/object/3dtv-play-overview.html I'm pretty sure this is what you're looking for. It allows for 3D to your TV via HDMI. HDMI only allows for 720p 60fps. Bush isn't listed on the compatible list, but check around as I have a feeling you can get it to work on most TV's. You can try a free 14 day demo to check out if it works for you here: http://www.nvidia.com/object/3dtv-play-14day-trial.html Here is one link where there are tips to help you, don't know if its any good: http://www.mtbs3d.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=105&t=13176&start=0

When i install it says the 3d play trial is expired, i remember trying to use this before though. It didn't work the stereoscopic 3D Display type stayed as HDMI Blu-Ray 3D. I don't understand though, why isn't every 3D TV supported... surely if it supports side by side, top and bottom then it is capable of 3D. Even if i custom made my own 3D TV i would expect it to work if it worked with other devices. At least true with every other device. Makes me worry that if i bought the newest OLED 3D TV released i would have to wait months for a patch letting it be compatible with NVIDIA, if support even came at all. Basically this is a No-sale until its supported. Considering selling my 3D TV and just getting a huge regular HD TV.

Maybe check out Tri def. I think its far more open and user friendly with all setups. Looking into it, Nvidia 3Dplay seems to be a complete arse unless you have a supported TV. Sounds like any fix you might use to get it working on your TV could be broken by an update. What can I say... Nvidia wants to destroy its own market! dumb. Good luck on finding a solution Alfar.

Bleh doesn't even have a trial so i don't know if it will work... why can't nvidia just support every tv. I even tried a hack on that trial that would force nvidia 3d play to accept my TV... That didn't work either lol

If your TV is HDMI 1.4 compliant, follow the directions at http://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/2774

They usually handle it pretty quick and add it via a micropatch. But in your case I wouldn't be suprised if they dragged their feet due to the header of your thread :P

Next time you have a question or a problem Alfarjamie0, maybe it would be better not to ask it with such an aggressive thread title. I understand your frustration, but it doesn't look good or encourage good will, especially not from Nvidia ;-)

Can't an EDID edit help him?

46" Samsung ES7500 3DTV (checkerboard, high FOV as desktop monitor, highly recommend!) - Metro 2033 3D PNG screens - Metro LL filter realism mod - Flugan's Deus Ex:HR Depth changers - Nvidia tech support online form - Nvidia support: 1-800-797-6530

It would be nice if they could just 'open up' 3D Play as 3dtvs are all basically running according to the hdmi standard. Just allow SBS and be done with it! Not quite sure why they haven't so far as it would definitely boost sales if it Just Worked(tm)

Hmmm.. there is a thread that goes in depth of that topic and beyond, called why-prevent-us-from-using-the-monitor-of-our-choice y' know... I've been working TeamViewer for 2 hrs in vain with a collegue of mine to get the Asus VG278HE (the one I sold under getting price, see thread mentioned above) working with his setup... I don't know the deal with nvidia, after all, if they supported 120Hz frame sequential over DVI/DP and framepacked over HDMI (maybe even 1080/30???) right out of the box with their cards regardless of presence of a stupid emitter or license literally EVERYBODY interested in S3D would run, go out, and purchase a nvidia card, However with their stupid attempts to protect an poorly maintained technology 3Dvision becoming more and more P.I.T.A. to get it to work, people turn AMD and TriDef instead (just count the "TriDef" threads in this forum that popped up recently). Well done, green goblin...
