hi guys,
I finally save up my money for 1 year and can splurge on a new 3D monitor and join the master race of 3D Vision2
I was told that 1080P/60 fps is the sweet spot/best bang for money right now so I thought I would ask for advice on the best 1080P/3D with high refresh rate/G-sync that money can buy.
Thanks advance
p.s. Currently I am rocking 970 gtx but will upgrade soon when Volta come out next year (or splurge on 1080 gtx or 1080 Ti, depending on your recommendation here)
I also have a ps4 pro which I like to use concurrently with the new monitor (if possible). If not, I guess i would need to upgrade my old LCD tv too :)

There are some monitors that have 240Hz, G-Sync, ULMB, and 3D Vision 2. Asus PG258Q, for example.
But how much time are you going to play in 3D? If it's near 100%, you won't be using those 240Hz.
And at that price point (near 600€), you are near the price of the Asus PG278QR (which I bought for 653€ on sale). It's 1440p, with real 8 bit colors, and 165Hz.
If you want to use G-Sync+ULMB, you'll reach an upper limit with the 1080p monitor, using custom timings, because it has ULMB too at 144Hz.
For consoles, do you want blur reduction? The BenQ Z series has that (XL2411Z, XL2420Z and XL2720Z), but they are 1080p, 144Hz and 6 bit. They have significant overdrive artifacts except when using 3D Vision, and to make the most of them you'll have to do some tweaks and tricks.

I read that most ppl who use 1440P on PG278QR having a hard time keeping the 3D quality and 3D performance up to an acceptable level. And downgrading to 1080P to gain on quality/performance on a 1440p result in degradation i.e blurriness.
Yes, I prefer to game in 3D 100% of the time (when the title is compatible). I play mainly older games like Rise of Legends, Warcraft 3, Starcraft 2 and a few newer ones like the Witcher 3 occasionally.

I was wondering the same as far as DSR 1440P vs Native Resolution 1440P.
DSR 1440P performs great...so why even buy a 1440P monitor if it performs less efficiently

I am a bit confused since it sounds like you suggest that I get 2 different monitors (1 for 3D and 1 for my ps4)?

I' not telling you to buy two. I was just saying what good options you have. Is PC or PS4 your preference? 1080p or 1440p? Do you want G-Sync? etc
For the PS4 Pro, the best would be buying a 4K HDR TV.
For PC and 3D Vision at 1440p, Asus PG278QR.
For PC and 3D Vision at 1080p, the decision is harder. I suggested the BenQ ones because you also get blur reduction for the PS4 (there will be some crosstalk with blur reduction in 2D and only on PC you can make custom timings to fix it).

well, look like I will get the 4k hdr TV for the PS4 Pro then.
Does G-Sync matter for 3D gaming on PC?
for 1080P 3D gaming, what's the best monitor available? Asus PG258Q or the BenQ Z series? What about the Curve monitor ASUS PG27VQ?

No. It's just good if you play some games in 2D or 2D emulators.

I don't know between those two 1080p monitors. I had the BenQ XL2411Z and 3D was good (although with a checkerboard pattern because of pixel inversion), but that new Asus may be better (people say the PG248Q was maybe the best in its time). It would be better if someone who had both commented here.
If the ASUS PG27VQ is similar to the PG278QR, then it will be very good. Apart from the higher resolution, it has real 8 bit colors. But same as before: I don't have it, so I don't know anything first hand.

IS there a difference between the IPS and non IPS version with regards to Gsync and 3D vision?. I'd prefer IPS since IPS is generally known to have better colors? Also how is the AG coating. I prefer glossy panels and would most likely looking into peeling off the coating.
