I've just spent the whole day and most of yesterday trying to solve a number of issues with my new monitor and graphic card (upgraded from Palit Jetstream Geforce GTX660ti 2048mb). I've (temporarily) solved most of the issues I was having, but the one that I can't solve is regarding Nvidia's 3d vision. I searched every board I can find to no avail.
First my specs:
OS: Windows Vista with SP2
• Motherboard: Republic of Gamers Maximus III Formula LGA 1156 dual channel DDR3 2133
• Graphic Card: MSI GTX 970 4GB
• CPU: Intel Core i7 860 @2.8ghz
• Sound Card: Creative SB X-Fi (Extreme Gamer?)
• Memory: 8GB (4x2Gb)
• Power Supply: Zumax 700W
• Monitor:BenQ XL2720T (previous monitor)Eizo Flexscan S2031W
These are the issues:
I bought a BenQ XL2720T monitor (open box) that is supposed to be a 3d Vision ready monitor. It came with no CD. I plugged it in and it seemed to be working. I also plugged in the 3d Vision kit ir emitter and charged up the glasses. It was then that I noticed that I didn't even have an option for "Stereoscopic 3d" in the Nvidia control panel. So, I upgraded all my Nvidia software to the latest 347.09. It seemed to install all the components. But still no Stereoscopic 3d option. Then I checked my monitor driver and it's listed as "generic PnP Monitor". So I tried, without any success, to download the specific driver for the monitor. I couldn't find one. I found one for the BenQ 2720Z monitor, but Windows claims that I have the best driver for my monitor installed.
Does it matter to the installation of 3d Vision if it is a generic PnP or the specific driver?
Next I tried reinstalling older versions of the Nvidia drivers (as they were working before with my previous setup). Now, when I try to install none of the 3d Vision drivers or controls show up when I do a custom install (they had appeared before).
Please, someone, tell me what is going on with my installation?!!!!

It's always a good idea to read the driver release notes, if for no other reason than known issues.
Anyhow, if you look in the notes you'll see that Vista support for 3D Vision has been dropped.
Vista support for 2D gaming is still supported.

I'm assuming you're new to 3D Vision. If so be sure to frequent these forums to make your stereoscopic gaming life easier.

It will not work, that driver was released prior to your GPU being made/released.
EDIT: The 970 has new architecture, you'd have a better chance trying to figure out some workaround to get a new driver to work with Vista, if it even will. The 970/980 has less Cuda cores and offer better performance per watt, there is no way these new features would work with older drivers and perform very well if at all.

I'll try to install an earlier driver (310.90) and see what happens...
Thanks again.
