3D Vision Video Player to work with Anaglyph 3D?
Hi guys,
Because I don't have the money to waste on a 120Hz LCD screen (plus there's none available to my liking - all the sizes are way too small!), I've chosen to try out the anaglyph 3D option given by the NVIDIA Control Panel.

So I've downloaded the player, have a QUAD SLI setup (GTX295), and though lots of games work quite nicely with the anaglyph (given, some scenes flutter from the cyan/red, making my eyes hurt), I wanted to try watching videos with it.

I downloaded the 3D Vision Video Player and tried the Interlaced Left Line First and even the Interlaced Right Line First, and neither of them seem to work very well. Compared to the games and supplied images from NVIDIA, I can't see any form of 3D. I tried the other options with also no luck. :(

So my question is, can this video player not work with anaglyph 3D, and what about the Vision Photo Viewer? Other than the pictures supplied by NVIDIA (the ones on their website), no other photo gives good enough 3D to visually appear "out of the screen".

Any form of help is greatly appreciated - am I wasting my time on the anaglyph 3D? And if so, what convinced current Stereoscope NVIDIA 3D users to turn to that product? Especially since you need a 120Hz screen.. :(

Download the trial Stereo Player which Nvidia's player is based on but Nvidia's doesn't have half the option of the Stereo Player.
You will find the option you want with this player to select anaglyph.
And yes you need to know what the video is , side by side, interlaced etc. but definitely you need to select the correct 3D output option first.

Thanks for the feedback! Will try out Stereo Player and come back with results. :)

Edit: OK, I think I found why this isn't working for me. For some reason, I thought I could take a normal video file (like, say for example a movie DVD converted to MPG) and then make THIS 3D. So the original output is only the normal 2D version, then convert it to 3D using this player.

If this is possible using some other method, does anyone know? Can I take a normal movie and convert it to work with Anaglyph 3D?

Thanks :)

3D works because each of your eyes sees a slightly different view into a scene.
A 2D movie has been filmed with only one lens. It is like looking at the world with one eye shut. There is no 3D information encoded in it waiting to be "released".
There are ways to add depth to a movie that was filmed without it. The good ways take time to implement.
There are quick cheats to try and make something look 3D. These are cheats and the effect is not at all accurate and often not very good at all. By all means try some of these systems, but whatever you do, don't waste any money on a realtime 2D to 3D conversion.

NOTE: Games are different because they generate the real 3D data about a scene on the fly and can be set up to do so for each eye giving genuine 3D.

1. Please don't necro up ancient topics from 2 years ago. Just start a new one.

2. No. 3D Vision Player is for 3D Vision glasses. Try following D-Man's suggestion.
