I do hear a faint buzzing noise (i have to press my ear right up agains the emitter to hear it), it's kinda like a pulsing buzz... Never heard that with the external emitter. I'm sure it's no big deal.

I also have this buzzing sound and I think all VG278H monitor have this sound when 3D is enabled.

As I said before, you can't go into the water without getting wet...
If you want to have such a strong backlight, you will see some bleeding if you push the brightness up to maximum. That's just common sense. I have the feeling, that some people WANT to see a scandal, where there's really nothing.

I'm sick of matte screens with heavy anti glare coating like all those new 3D Vision Ready monitors such as Acer and Asus. I can't believe there isn't a single 27" 3D 120hz option that is glossy screen and 3D Vision 2 Ready nowadays. I know glossy screens are a matter of taste, but I always play games in the dark, 3D looks better in a dark enviroment and you feel more imersive playing like this in 3D. It's much more fun and the 3D will always look better if there's no lights in your bedroom. So, I have no such problems related to reflections in my screen when playing gamnes in 3D. So I'm a glossy guy
I'll just get the awesome S27A950D, it has the best design in the market, it looks like a 27" LED HDTV and the screen quality is just like a LED TV, I'm not sure if it's TN or IPS, but it has glossy screen and the colours reproduction and deeper blacks just made me go towards this option.
I don't like Tridef or IZ3D and I've been a 3D Vision user for quite some time and will continue to play 3D Vision games using this monitor. I know Nvidia doesn't want to support it for business intentions as Samsung uses their own glasses instead of Nvidia. But I'll keep my 3D Vision kit, despite of not using it's glasses, I'll always have my emitter connected, and this monitor supports frame sequential mode used by 3DVision and has 120hz and also DVI-D. Itb has all the required hardware.
I know there are workarounds to make this monitor 3D Ready and I'll be able to use it and play my games with 3DV support. I'll sell my Alienware 23" display, I've never liked the washed out colours and nasty matte screen of this monitor. If Nvidia can't provide me a 3DV Ready glossy 27" monitor, I'll have to look else where. Samsung options are far superior to Acer and Asus for about the same price.
Even the 3D technology in this Samsung monitor resembles 3D Vision 2, it has more brightness in 3D mode compared to other monitors, it should be interesting.
I had made a promisse to never buy a display that has matte screen, I want a clear glossy shining screen, just like my TV, my Macbook Air. I want vivid colours and deep blacks that's all. If Samsung is my only option, I'll give it a go.

I don't think that there is any visible difference between a glossy and a matte display in the dark.
There is a difference in ambient light, of course. Because glossy displays look darker when there is ambient light in the room. The light is reflected in spots only, while the rest of the screen doesn't reflect any light. While a matte display reflects the light in a difuse way, resulting in an overall dark greyish tint.
As long as you can make sure that you don't have any light source (or reflective surface) in front of the display, glossy displays are actually very nice. But already a white t-shirt can make it almost unbareable to use. A matte display always works, and if you want optimal contrast and the "blackness" as a glossy display, then just turn off any ambient light source.

Believe me, even witn the lights off I don't see black, more like grey??? I can tell you one thing for sure, the SA27950D screen is amazing, resembles a LED HDTV or maybe an Apple display, colours are amazing and blacks are as deep as its get. Have you actually seen this monitor live? Samsung blows Acer or Asus 27" displays in every aspect and it costs the same. Unless you really dislike glossy screens...
I know it's a matter of taste, not saying that glossy is the better one, but to me there's a huge difference, maybe it's my eyes, but I see a big deal of quality difference overall.

I just read you rmessage and wanted to tell you that the Acer 27 ibch I have 3D vision 1 (I suppose) turns on quickly. I leave the monitor switched ON and when I SHUT DOWN the computer, the monitor goes into standbye mode. THEN I cut power on the power-strip.
Next day , turn on power strip and boot PC. I have been using Acer moniotrs for over ten years now and I am happy with them...

I have always liked Samsung, they make a nicenice product. If I am not mistaken though, is Samsung compatible with 3d Vision glasses? I mean would mine work with it? I have always thought they were not. I like the samsung 3D moniotr that comes with its own TV tuner, thats cool!!!
But if I can not use my Nvidia glasses, then I can't use the product.
