why does 3d symbol stays on (lit up green on the emitter area) even after i close google earth which annoyingly opens now in 3d every time ?
i dont want google earth to open in 3d ever can it be stopped ? i have an asus vg278h 27inch 3d monitor see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w7SOPXuQe8I that video shows a previous problem.
i found ctrl + t shuts off the 3d look of google earth by using search engines for an answer, but even if i completely close google earth ( i check its gone in windows task manager) the 3d logo is lit up on the asus monitors emiter ..would this be using more electricity or wearing it out ? i was uploading lots of long videos to youtube so didnt want to restart my pc so the 3d emitter has been on over 12hours when i didnt need it ! so whose error is it ? asus ? google earth? or nvidea ?

It won't wear it out but it buzzes which is annoying an 3D mode degrades the colours.

Bind your native resolution (1920x1080, 120Hz) to a hotkey of your choice, and a random other resolution to another hotkey. When you need to come out of 3D mode, use the hotkeys to switch in and out of the random resolution, it cuts the 3D out.

When my 3d gets stuck "ON" I just open the nvidia contro panel, and launch the stereoscopic test logo, quit, and everything goes to normal. takes like 3 seconds.

I've found starting a video file in Media Player Classic, then exiting it works for me. I use MPC-BE rather than the more common MPC-HC variation, not sure if that's relevant. Probably not though.

When my monitor got stuck in 3D mode for whatever reason, watching a 3D blu-ray, watching 3D content in firefox, after playing a game, I got to look on the web for ways of forcing 3D on or off. But the answer was far too simple. In the Nvidia folder of the start menu there exist 2 shortcuts for turning 3D on or off. I have copied these shortcuts into my Start bar at the bottom, so when I want to use 3D in a game, or other application I simply click on one green shortcut. After I'm done with 3D I simply click on the other red one to deactive 3D.
Since then I have had no incidents of my monitor getting stuck in 3D mode. Try it out if you haven't already...

Hiding 3D when a 3D app starts (now togglable through registry) has solved this problem for me. If it just happens to get stuck again afterwards, try closing the apps that were using it. If it doesn't go away still, close your laptop until it sleeps and the reopen. I reported this ages ago :P

esc button should quit the test logo. I start the test, hit esc as soon as it starts. bam 3d off. if your esc button isn't working... maybe your keyboard is malfunctiong? i dunno. Yeah, it can be a hassle, but I, myself, am always willing to endure a little bit of hassle for top notch 3d gaming.

If any of you are using the 'shortcut' method, and AutoHotKey, I made a simple script to 'refresh' 3D (cycle it off and then back on) all you have to do is hit Ctrl+Alt+T, here's the script:
!^t::
Run C:\Program Files (x86)\NVIDIA Corporation\3D Vision\nvstlink.exe /disable
KeyWait, t
Run C:\Program Files (x86)\NVIDIA Corporation\3D Vision\nvstlink.exe /enable
You need to make a .reg file or go directly into the registry and turn hide 3D when game starts option back to on. Constantly using the nvstlink.exe shortcut is just too impractical. TsaebehT, you are doing waaay to much work xD.

It's a shame!
Rez or refresh switching can be another, but nontheless annoying cure.
