Other 120 Hz Televisions
  1 / 2
Hi,

I currently own a Samsung LN52A650, which is a 120 Hz capable television. I know its not on the officially supported Nvidia list, however, will it be able to work with the glasses nonetheless? Could I, for example, use the television as a monitor from my PC video card (which is supported) to use the glasses? I can't seem to find any information about this in the forums.

Thanks

I own a Samsung HL61A750 which is a 3d Ready DLP and it works "EXCELLANT" with 3d Vision!!!!

If you're T.V. is 3d Ready (It will say something like 3d sync out. Looks like an S-video port) than it will work.

Rock on, Go 3d Vision!!!

Unfortunately, my television does not explicitly state that it is "3d ready" -- it only advertised that it is capable of doing 120 hz. My question is whether or not being 120 hz alone is sufficient for being 3d ready. What does the sync port do? Without it, Can I still use my television as another computer monitor and plug the rf emitter into my computer?

Thanks

the 3d sync out connects the IR emitter (Device that syncs your glasses to your t.v.). The 3d sync out also has a chip in it that supports 3d technologies. Unfortunatly without this your t.v. will not work with 3d Vision :"> sorry

It has to be "true" 120hz. I would imagine you're safe, but if it's a DLP it needs a specific plug to sync it to the IR unit as 3d Gamer Ready stated.

Thanks for your replies.

I don't have a DLP, rather it is an LCD. I think I'm going to go ahead and try it by running a cable from my computer's DVI to the TV's inputs, and plug the emitter into my computer, setting my monitor to be my television. I think theoretically it will work -- hopefully.

When looking into getting the samsung bundle or trying it on my older (1 year ish) samsung LCD tv, i found out that although they say 120Hz the hdmi port on those tvs only can recieve at 60hz so mine wasnt compatible,

Havent quite tried it on mine to confirm and i ended up just getting the samsung bundle anyways, but let us know if it does work with your model.

Good luck! :)

So, I have the 67 inch version (Samsung HL67A750) and I'm pretty sure its all the same guts and I do have the 3D out port. Is it pretty much a guarantee that 3D vision will work for me? Cause right now I'm using Red/Blue anaglyph glasses, and it just doesn't cut it. Also is there a way to make it work in XP, or will I HAVE to upgrade?

Guaranteed your Samsung will work!!!! You just have to have a capable computer with at least 2 GB of Ram, WIndows Vista 32 bit or 64 bit and a capable NVIDIA graphics card. 8800 GT or higher (8 Series) or 9800 GT or higher (9 series) or any 200 series card. Windows Xp will not work, unfortunatly

But nVidia says 9600GT will work in specs, any reason you excluded that? I know I read a review that didn't recommend it. I happen to have a 9600GT in my HTPC with my HL61A750, but I'd upgrade if that's all my problem is. I was going to at least give it a shot on a 9600GT before I upgraded. I would like to make the 9600GT work if possible since it is passively cooled and I do use the HTPC for things besides gaming. I've already got a 360 hooked to this PC so I need to make sure the HTPC is as quiet as possible ;)

You want a strong GPU for 3D gaming. Expect (up to) a 50% frame-rate drop when enabling 3D. So a 9600 just wouldn't cut it with new(er) games. Anything pre-doom 3 should be smooth and fun tho.

If you're interested more in 3D film than gaming, you're fine with the 9600.

I recommend giving it a shot. Since you already have the TV and sound like you can afford it, just expect to buy a stronger card for playing new games in 3D.

I would save your 9600 gt for a dedicated PHYSX card. You can have this card doing all the physics alone in your system. Then I recommend getting a 260 gtx (new one with die shrink) for gaming. When you need even more power get another one and sli

Cool. Yeah I've got a GT260, and the RAM, just no vista. I read that partitioning off a section of my drive for Vista shouldn't be that hard. Just the price of both vista and these glasses add up. Then again I have already come this far with the rest of my gear, it would be a disservice not too take full advantage :)

Thanks!

How about 512MB eVGA Geforce 8800GTS?
Will GeForce 3D Vision works with that graphic card, if I have 120Hz display devices that is 3D ready?
