Heh, haven't done a female ME run yet. Coincidently I was planning on using a female for my Renegade run, so that's good it seems.
What gets me is the Shepard I just happened to create really fits the voice. He has hair, looks a little older than the "cannon" Shepard. When I hear, like in a youtube video, the shaved head, nearly fresh out of the academy looking Shepard the voice sounds so out of place.
Maybe it's just my own bias since I didn't pay any attention at all to the default version of him before going into ME1 (old school rpg'er.. I don't so much as blink at non-custom character selections).
Uhm, it's all so much better in 3D though. /ontopic

Non default for male is wierd for me just because of all clips/trailers/everything. But its a mind set type thing. Male shepard just seems like more work is put into it since its a scan of a real person. I kind of wish I was able to do different ones. I kind of miss Dragon Age: Origins/ Kotor for that. In dragon age 2, depending on how you look, your family can look like mutants which totally turned me off when I spent like an hour on my character.
Going default female shepard you get kind of screwed regardless of going canon/non canon.

Not to mention they made the default fem shep goes drastically different/girlish in ME3. I kind of recommend doing a non default fem shepard regardless.
P.S should totally go Renegade / Vanguard / Female shepard. Totally fits the personality especially ME2/3

Probably overall. I dont think he does a good renegade. It always sounds like he's trying to be ironic. Like an arnold movie one liner quote. So it kind of works for me since I like how fem shepard works as a great renegade.
BTW should check out citadel cooky. Probably best Mass Effect dlc. Its pretty damn fun and offers something new for each character you have pretty much.
I know what you mean. The conversation posture is all the same as well as far as I know. If you wear the skirt she spread eagles/"Presents" alot when talking to men. Because shepard as a man was very "suave" when talking to females. But with men, shepard is laid back/relaxed posture. Its a bit worse because women take the lead with male shepard. But female shepard is vice versa which makes the presenting even more funny.
Seriously I cant play Female Shepard as a paragon. She's very masculine and something about voice actor that doesn't fit Paragon. Might be my own bias on that one though but she only seems to work as a bit of a brute.
Yeah... no... I disagree... I mean, yes, the game was clearly designed around a male Shepard, but other than the animations, I don't have trouble buying a hard-nosed, militaristic female. And judging by your comments, you probably didn't play a whole lot as FemShep, right? There are plenty of times the voice actress nails a more, um... sensitive side, for lack of a better expression.
But I could be biased too because I like strong female characters... and when given the option of watching some dude's backside run around for the 70 hours or so it takes to finish the game, vs. a nice female backside, I'm gonna go with the female version everytime ;-).

Oh, and yeah, I definitely tweaked the face when I created my character. She's pretty feminine and attractive. WAAY better looking than default, but still believable. I've kept her the same for ME2.

Favorite games/series of all time. I have around 6 characters up to completion in me2 [4 male/2 female]. 7 if you include the one where i murdered all but two squaddies. Beat ME3 twice, one fem shep/one male.*obsessed*.
I just find she does aggressive much better then sensitive. Its not a bad thing, I think it suits character better overall and perhaps story. I found after comparing my two playthroughs she just made a better renegade. Not saying she doesnt voice paragon well, Im just saying renegade suits her style more imo. Even in other games such as Bulletstorm she mostly plays a "renegade" and did a great job. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yHRHuryGZx4
Five years from now I might not remember her Paragon interrupts but I will certainly remember her Renegade interrupts.
Tim Curry/ Mark Hamill are amazing voice actors. They do great villians and there performances will be remembered. I doubt Id remember anything where they played a good guy though. Then again I have a thing for voice actors. I was talking about how in the Darksiders thread how a huge perk for the game was that Michael Wincott voiced Death and Mark Hamill in Darksiders 1. Then again that probably explains THQ bankruptcy, anywho....
I just have adamant feelings about voice acting. I often got in conversations about how voice acting is something people disregard in games but don't realize it effects our attitudes the games

Wait ... what? I thought they were going to duel. Lol. Those were some terrible animations there, guess they couldn't get anyone to mocap that scene. :)
I could sure go for some bacon and eggs! Femshep it is!

LOL... glad I have something to look forward to in ME3 then.
I apologize for assuming you haven't played FemShep. But anyways,.. I pretty much approach the decision making process in the ME series based on whatever I am personally thinking rather than trying to either be paragon or renegade. I ended up with a pretty neutral character in the first one, and only about half-way through the second.
I am one of those people who appreciates good voice-acting, but don't let poor versions get in the way of my overall perception of a game. IMHO, voice acting quality is no different than lip-synching animations - It serves a purpose, but I don't expect movie-quality performances out of a video game. Sometimes I'm pleasantly surprised, but it has to be absolutely terrible for me to be genuinely distracted by it. Or, to be accurate, I am WAY more distracted by FemShep walking like John Wayne than I am anything vocally LOL.

Its cool, everyone has different taste. I personally like to approach the ME series like a movie or book and try not to have shepard "break character." I am not trying to effect anyone decision of a character they are already playing. Just giving a headsup to new players on my personal experiences since I am sure they arent as crazy as me and just want 1-2 character playthroughs. No right or wrong way to play the games.
Lol I better stop talking about mass effect, I can talk about it for days.

LOL man, my problem is I don't even have time for ONE playthrough, let alone multiple ones!
..So.. quick question: How much time do I have left on ME2? Or maybe more accurately, how far along am I? - Here's where I'm at: One team member left to recruit (who I don't even have a dossier for yet) and I have around 4 team members left to assist with their personal missions. The next main mission I'm on is nabbing a friend or foe identification in order to go through the Omega 4 relay. I've been putting that one off and trying to build my team loyalty in the meantime. I've been doing side missions as the come to me, but haven't been going out of my way to get them (I haven't been visiting non-Mass Relay systems unless the story compels me to - I just don't have time).
And secondary question: How much time (for a similar style playthrough) can I expect to spend on ME3? I haven't bought it yet, but the reason for the sense of urgency is because I'm getting married in August and I'm trying to get a final 'hurrah' of gaming in before my life becomes even more hectic, and gaming essentially falls by the wayside.
Thanks!

Lol I started writing about ME1 gamelength cause I thought you were person who pm'd at first lol.
If you just do the remaining characters loyalty / story probably 5-7 hours.
Though you will be missing out if you don't do Kasumi DLC/ Cerberus Network[Don't do Firewalker] / Shadowbroker.
Then again thats probably 6-8 hours of stuff so might not have time. Besides story stuff/character loyalty/those dlc you can get by without doing any side quests imo.
I cant recall any non-dlc side quests that make a huge difference for ME3 (Character loyalty is kind of side mission I guess but is required).

Wait a sec,.. you confused me a little bit. Are you talking about me ONE? It sounds like it. I'm already finished with ME1. I'm currently on ME2. So are you saying I should do the side quests in ME2 because they matter in ME3?
I seem to remember Conrad Verner from ME1, but I don't remember that going anywhere. I think I finally told him to piss-off.
(And sorry to derail the thread, but I figure at least it keeps it towards the top and more exposure to your blog)

LOL... glad I have something to look forward to in ME3 then.

Thanks!

I seem to remember Conrad Verner from ME1, but I don't remember that going anywhere. I think I finally told him to piss-off.
(And sorry to derail the thread, but I figure at least it keeps it towards the top and more exposure to your blog)
