Game crashes
Hi,

Since today I'm the proud owner of the 2233RZ+3d Vision Glasses combination.
This combo gives a lot sharper 3d, I really like it.
What I don't like however, is that games crash!
I haven't tested many games, but Battlefield 2 and Assassin's Creed go back to desktop when I am about to start playing.
They give the standard windows app crash error (you know? with an error report etc.).

Please tell me this can be fixed, and how!
I had no problems with any of the Vista stereo drivers for the Zalman M220W

I think this is a very similar problem I have with Prince of Persia 2008. It had been working fine then it just wouldn't start again without crashing to desktop with some Windows error message about it being stopped working bla bla...On the other hand Assassin Creed is still working in S3D.

Team Nvidia of course could figure out what causes this sudden deaths but I think it's not high on their priority list.
Sorry this post has not been helpful to your problem but it may raise the problem awareness to all "that may concern" B)

Assassins creed have different exe's for directx9 and directx10. Have you tried launching the exe for dx9 directly? Dunno about battlefield though.

I'm not familiar with 3d-vision but some games on 3d-vision (i've seen rumorwise) seems to work best with standard settings, nothing altered. Otherwise: Try to tinker around with the gamesettings (resolution, postprocessing, hdr, blur,aa etc) and turn them down. I think you should keep shaderlevel high if option is available though.
If you're not able to alter gamesettings (game crashes instantly) then turn off stereo, make adjustments and try again.. (back to old school. :D )

Thanks for your reply!

I've tried the Dx10 version, but that one even stops a lot earlier :S

With battlefield I've tried if alternating the options would help, but none of the changeable options prevented the game to stop working. I also tried for every option the lowest setting, and that with multiple maps, but nothing helped.
Maybe if I re-install the game... I hope so...

I used to have quite a few games that just plain didn't start including Prince of Persia, Fallout3 etc...(while Assassin's Creed starts and plays smoothly) I've tried various things with no effects including downloaded and installed various patches, new release of directx from MS. However it all changeed couple days ago when I bought a game from Steam ie. Mass Effect. Apparently the game included all the system files (or just files that my system obviously needed ) to run those failed games and now PoP, FO3 and other games all start, run and play as they should.

This may not apply to your case but it doesn't hurt to try download a demo from Steam if you don't want to buy one from it, to see whether it will 'refill' what your system needs without having to reinstalling the whole OS and patching it.
