Shadows are broken, background has some one eye issues, car and road is fine, so why not..
Just Googled the engine, it's called Chameleon game engine, can't find other games using this ?
Went ahead and downloaded it but ran into a big problem. During the first start-up, a stupid background application kicked me out of fullscreen, and there's no option to change it back within the game menu. And since I closed out of it while in windowed mode, now the game refuses to start up in anything other than windowed mode again. I can't find any pre-launch settings of any kind, and there's no option within NVCP settings for fullscreen. I'm not familiar with the Origin software at all, so I don't know if there's some sort of data folder created at launch that I need to delete or what... What do I do? Any ideas?

I'd suggest finding the game save and deleting it.
You could also use regedit to see if you can change it in the registry.
Saw that yesterday and was wondering if it was playable with 3D Vision.
What is CM? Cyan & Magenta?
Other fact is I don't have the Origin client and not sure I want to install only to play this game qhich will also require to be online all the time.
CM = Compatibility Mode. It stands as "such" since is using the Depth Buffer to "build" the secondary perspective/eye.
Unlike Geometry Mode (3D Vision Automatic) where each eye actually is rendered from a different POV (and camera) CM Mode doesn't have one. Instead is "simulating" how the other eye should look like.
As a result, you get some haloes that try to mask the shift/warp of objects. I don't find CM that "offending" to be honest. It is clearly NOT the proper 3D (as you would normally see it if you were there) but is way better than a FLAT (2D) image.
The best way to see the difference is between a game that has a CM profile and a 3D Vision fix (for proper 3D Vision).

Aha! I don't know why it never dawned on me that the registry would be somewhere in "My Documents." I kept looking for it in the install directory. Thanks, I'll try that.

Welp, gave it another go last night... The configuration file was written in its own format and is not editable OR open-able in notepad. So I just deleted it along with the save file, figuring they would be recreated once I started the game again. But what happened? The stupid game went and retrieved the synced data from the Origin cloud server and put the settings right back where they were. ARRRRGGGHH!!!
Going into the Origin options and disabling the sync feature finally did the trick. But even after getting it back in fullscreen, I couldn't get my 360 controller to work. What's more, the only functions that worked via keyboard were to steer right and left and reverse. So I literally couldn't go anywhere, there was no keyboard mapping shown in the options, no way to enable the controller, and therefore this piece of turd has been uninstalled. Glad it was free.

This is obviously not one of your best days :)
The game supports X-Box 360 and X-Bone controllers.
Keyboard and controllers can be configured in options/gameplay/Controllers, buttons/keys is remapable !!!

LOL nah I'm not having a bad day really, it's just that I have very little time to play games anymore. When stupid stuff like that starts happening, I lose patience quickly. If it's a game I'm really keen on playing, then obviously I'm going to expend a little more effort into getting things working right. In this case, despite my being a long-time fan of the NFS series, there was a reason I didn't purchase this game back when it was relevant. It just didn't have certain features I was looking for. But I figured since it is currently free, I may as well download it and rip around the city a bit... but I've already documented why that didn't work.
I realize every system is unique, and while I rarely experience some of the issues documented on these forums, one thing I do have trouble with occasionally are my input devices. I've had trouble with my 360 controller on L.A. Noire and Woolfe: Red Hood Diaries, and now this game. My keyboard is literally the oldest part of my system as well... so there's that. But yeah - I did find the gameplay menu you are speaking of, but couldn't get it to do anything. Oh well, moving on..
