Gothic 3 Forsaken Gods Enhanced Edition Released today, looks quite good in S3D
Its a stand-alone addon to Gothic 3, the Enhanced version has just been released (you can pick it up on Steam for $2.5 (!!) /rolleyes.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> The "Enhanced" version features major graphic and performance overhaul in addition to fixing all these bugs Jowood became famous for releasing upon the world. I like the series since they feature huge, very detailed and explorabe world, which comes even more alive in S-3D (and which sadly lacks in DA2 where I felt more like an UN envoy zipping from one hotspot to another in an airplane, trying to contain nuclear spillage in Darktown while arbitrating religious conflict in another place...). I have completed original Gothic 3 (also Enhanced Edition)just before DA2 came out, and enjoyed it a lot, for all its flaws - the game is very immersive and beautiful in S3D. Like in all germanic RPGs, the dialogues would seem overly simple if you like DA style, but quests are enjoyable and the story is quite engaging. However, you cannot convince companions to become **** like you can in DA 2 /angel.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='O:)' /> . I made a screen right outside the starting village so you can see for yourself what it looks like.

Anyway, $2.5 is not a bad deal for a game that looks that good in 3d IMHO.

Thanks, got it at steam, 3d rpgs are the best type of games for 3d together with fps since they can be so inmersive and at 2,50 euro it's a steal. I wanted to know however if the sky is still at the wrong depth, and also, since I haven't played yet Gothic 3 (it's hard to find 100 hours of free time, though I'm a fan of Gothic franchise since I finished 1 and 2), I wanted to know if it follows G3 storyline or if it's a completely different time frame / main character. Maybe if it's a shorter experience I'll give it a try.

I just noticed gothic 4 is on sale for 75% off, I think I'll make a thread about it since it works really well on 3d

The sky is still is bit off, but it does not bother me at all. It continues G3 story (some time passed after G3 ends), you play same character but you start at level 1 again. My understanding is that it is shorter, and the main storyline is less engaging than in original G3.

I have been following the progress of this patch for a while now and it's good to see it has finally been released. Now that most of the bugs have been squashed there is no reason for anyone that is a Gothic fan not to play this now. The land mass is restricted to the central region of Myrtana but that is still a lot of area to explore considering how huge Gothic 3 was. The sky isn't that bad in 3D and you will get used to the 2D nameplates. Thankfully things like shadows and fire effects all render correctly in 3D.
