I actually just read about how much better the checkerboard is.... uuggghhhh I had no idea. My biggest gripe with 3d has always been ghosting so I figured plasma would be superior in that respect. I dunno, I might look into swapping it. I saw a deal on a D8000 LED and I turned it down in favor of the plasma too. I read the wrong reviews. Damn you CNET.

EDIT: I'm just going to keep it. 3d movies should look equally good right? If that's the case I'll keep it. Thanks for the tips, though.

If that's the case, you're right!!!! Plasma is always better than LED for gaming and specially 3D movies. Plasma does have much less ghosting compared to LED TVs, you can bet on that. Anyway, the 2011 Samsung LED 3DTVs are way better than the 2010 models, cause now they use bluetooth glasses instead of old IR tech which means: Much less ghosting + very bright 3D picture as the RF glasses don't get darker like the 2010 IR 3D glasses. So overall the Samsung 2011 models are much better than 2010, not cause image quality, but mainly because Samsung has evolved and decided to go towards bluetooth glasses. They really did it right this time!!!!!

In my opinion, Samsung 3D active technology is ahead of the competition, including Sony and Panasonic. Samsung is the only 3DTV manufacturer using Bluetooth glasses which are much much superior to IR 3D glasses tech. RF for Active 3D is the way to go, I'm not sure why Panasonic and Sony haven't realized that yet? I've been playing 3D Vision games with my Samsung S27A950D and I am surprise how good the BT glasses really are. It's really 100% flicker free, a rock solid link, no interference at all.

Also, Samsung made great improvement with their 2011 3DTVs line and also these new Syncmaster monitors like the S27A950D, so the 3D glasses now let more light go through, so the glasses lens don't get darker anymore and this makes 3D picture much more brighter and also improves a lot ghosting level, reducing it a lot compared to Samsung 2010 line of TVs like my Plasma C7000 that uses IR 3D glasses and suffers a lot from flickering and ghosting when playing games with 3DTV Play or 3DV Checkerboard mode. I think this tech should be similar do 3D Vision 2 with lightboost monitors, but even better, cause 3D Vision 2 still relies on old IR 3D glasses. Come on Nvidia, move to bluetooth tech, we all hate flickering!!!

In comparision the 2010 Samsung Plasmas are way better than the 2010 LED for 3D gaming and movies in ghosting level. I've tried the new D8000 LED TVs with bluetooth glasses and I was amazed how much better the ghosting level is compared to the 2010 models. I haven't had the chance to try the 2011 new Samsung Plasmas like your TV, but I believe they're even better since they now use bluetooth glasses instead of the old IR ones. I don't understand though why Samsung has taken out checkerboard mode for the new Plasmas and keeping it only for the LED ones???

Ahh....the old "some guy said" testimony.
I've been using plasma for well over a year for 3D gaming. The amount of ghosting is 99% dependent on the game, 1% on the technology. So reviews of Blu Ray 3D, broadcast 3D, 3D videos, etc. are absolutely worthless in evaluating 3D gaming ghosting. I've also compared ghosting on Blu Ray 3D plasma vs LED. Both have noticeable ghosting. When the compare is done properly, i.e. same scene in same video with same settings...everything the same except the display, there isn't much if any difference in amount of ghosting. Even if there was, it would mean nothing in 3D gaming. The suggestion that "plasma reduced ghosting to nill" is laughable, play Portal2 in 3D on a plasma and see if the ghosting is "nil". I just hope that nobody buys into this "no ghosting on plasma" BS. Plasma has a TON of ghosting in some games 3D games, almost none in others. It is far from "ghost free".

Roller, I agree with your that for 3D gaming, it really depends on the gaming itself and both Plasma and LED have similar amount of ghsoting, but Plasma seems better anyway overall image quality. My friend has a 2010 3D LED Samsung TV and I compared it a lot with my C7000 Plasma TV.
After he went to my house and watch a couple of underwater bluray3D such as Deep Sea and also the Avatar movie, he wanted to thrown his TV in the garbage because how much better the crosstalk level was in my TV compared to his. So, I don't agree that for movies they look the same, that's not true. Plasma has much less ghosting compared to LED for 3D movies like BD3D and SBS and I've tried many titles in my TV and my friend's LED TV, so there is a considerable difference. For 3DTV Play and CB it's different, the difference is not very noticeable, but for movies, it's hell of difference and Plasma wins hands down...

So, yes Plasma has tons of ghosting when playing 3D Vision games just like a LED TV and I have no idea why, maybe because it relies on 3rd party softwares, drivers, etc???
But for 3D movies, man, Plasma is way better and I have lots of experience in watching 3D movies in my TV and my friends. He envies my Plasma, believe me that.

Now saying that Plasma have more ghosting than LED is untrue. Plasma is always better than LED. The only advantage of Samsung LED over the new plasmas is that it keeps supporting Checkerboard and Frame Sequential modes.

I just watched a bunch of 3d movies this weekend on the plasma and they were quite impressive. Very little ghosting, and plenty bright.

I played them on my PC and of course now I'm experiencing an issue with the sound going out of sync over time :( If you pause and resume it fixes it but then slowly loses sync again. Kind of annoying. I bumped an old thread which apparently had the same issue but unfortunately had no replies. Anyone figure out how to fix this?
