hi, so the monitor i have is supposedly supported by Nvidia as a Passive 3d display monitor.
it runs at 1920x1080 but from what i understand the glasses provided with the monitor half the horizontal resolution to create the 3d effect.
my question is simple - how do i get the 3d Effect working ????
im using a GTX580M Gfx Card, have opened Nvidia Control panel, and it picks up Acer Passive 3D LCD.
but it just doesnt seem any different from normal. seems like a regular display.
tried the Test , and at 15% depth the text just seems fuzzy (not sharp) have tried watching the same scene with and without glasses , and image looks almost the same to me.
is there something im not doing right here ?

You're the first poster I've seen that is using that monitor.
Do you have the stereoscopic portion of the Nvidia drivers installed?
Have you ran the setup wizard in the Nvidia control panel?
In the Nvidia control panel enable the advanced user keys. Increase depth and convergence.
I have the stereoscopic portion installed. for the setup wizard i start it , then get a black screen, then another black screen , until it puts me to the Vision Test section. the previous parts all have a green tick.
now with the vision test i dont really notice a huge difference although if i stare at the screen for a while i do seem to see a square although its nowhere near as clear as the image they suggest.

so then theres the test stereoscopic 3d section ... i go into that and i can see a difference but i just cant seem to find the right setting.
the more depth i add the further the 2 images seem to drift away from each other. i.e. the pillars of the wall and the text just dont look crisp and usually leave me seeing double. when nvidia moves forward i see two I's in the middle.
then i tried messing with convergance, this didnt help either , if i focus on a set depth , middle , back ect. i can use convergence to Align and obtain a Sharp image ... but it just screws up anything that is meant to be behind / infront.

I'm not sure what you are talking about when you mention a square. Are you talking about the white one that you select as part of the setup?
Watch this.

so, i open the setup wizard.
then i get a black screen , when the black screens are gone i am set at 5:05 on the video. i get the static image , and have to pick from the square there or no square.
i assume the first part of setup is skipped because the Monitor uses passive 3D so there is no IR or active shutter glasses to setup.

Yah, at the white square, it's simply asking if you see any pop-out. If you do not see any popout try putting your glasses on upside down. See pop-out now? then invert the sync in the montitor menu.

you got me to try flipping my glasses ...
so the way the monitor should function in theory is that it has Passive 3d. no Active shutter lenses.
i.e. the higher end 3d monitors run at 120hz and then split the signal using Battery powered glasses
this monitor however runs at 1920x1080 60hz , then the Monitor has Horizontal lines that are split into 2 halving the vertical resolution.
so i went to http://www.3dtv.com/UI/ViewMedia.aspx?MediaID=4724 , and used passive/polarized on row setting , as soon as i matched the depth the image didnt seem blurred and i finally enjoyed the glasses ... now i just need to find a way to set the same depth for gaming ... >.>

There are hotkeys to adjust it.
Also in the Nvidia control panel make sure you enable advanced user hotkeys
Keep in mind, those small passive monitors have a small sweetspot for somewhat ghost free viewing, so tilt it until you find the best angle.
so i found the monitor's manual and i now have access to Specific 3d settings for monitor. (Hurray)
just need help configuring them, i can chooe from 3d Input Format (T&B, FP, SBS) and i have options for L/R Swap .
so from what i can understand that is basically (Top and Bottom , Side by Side, not figured out FP yet)
You want to use row intrleaved/line interleaved, whichever they call it for gaming, it will have less input lag because it's the monitors native format.
The other formats are used for cable/satellite, PS3/XBox and 3D Blu-ray players. When these formats are used, there is a slight delay while the format is converted to line interleaved, not good for gaming.

I don't think you should change anything but depth in the Test App, it has a very good amount of popout already.
Did you save the settings? If so go into C:\Users\YOURNAME\Documents\NVStereoscopic3D.LOG\ delete nvsttest and then start it again and only change your depth settings, Ctrl+F3/Ctrl+F4 and you don't have to save them. Depth is a global setting that saves automatically when changed.

thanks for the help. only adjusted depth and its looking much better in games. had to set depth to 5% though eventually .. now games seem playable and hopefully i will adjust to this. thank you so much for the help guys :)
