3 - 10 FPS In Metro 2033 3D
I'm getting around 3 to 10 FPS during Metro 2033's benchmark in 3D. Without 3D enabled, my average FPS is around 30. I'm not having this much of a framerate drop in any other games. (Besides Half-Life 2, but I'm fixing it) I've contacted Nvidia support and they were no help.

Windows 7, 32 bit
GeForce GTX 465
i5 Quad Core at 2.6 GHz
4 GB of RAM

Sounds normal performance to me actually.. Metro 2033 is a very demanding game, if not the most demanding game at the moment.

Well normally I'd take your word for it, but this performance issue started happening AFTER I upgraded my PC. Before I only had a Dual Core processor at 2.5 GHz and 2 GB of RAM and I got about 25 FPS in 3D.

Do u have all 4 cores enabled in the Bios?

Which driver are you using for your GTX 465?

Yeah they're all there. And I'm using the latest 266.58 drivers.

Turn off DOF. Check vram usage in the benchmark and in game. Do not use more vram than what the card has.
Lower settings to reduce vram usage.

Ouch. Terrible performance.

You need to get FRAPS and figure out what's going on. Try lowering all your settings down to bare minimum and go up from there.

The 4A Engine is top notch tech, check out the specs Exclusive tech interview on Metro 2033 - Metro 2033, Physx, Fermi, GTX 480 - PC Games Hardware

If you play METRO 2033 in 3D you have to turn off the advanced DOF (depth of field), infact the NVIDIA games compatability will notify you of this at start up of the game. It is a very demanding game engine even without 3D. I tested the game with 3D enabled- i7-860 @ 3GHz + GTX 580 + 4 GB of DDR3 @ 1600MHz and game running off of a sata 2 hard drive and at max settings and DX 11 (DOF off) the PC was struggling to keep any decent playable framerates.

METRO 2033 is one of the best PC 3D Vision Ready games out there i reckon, but imho you will want the latest GPU tech in SLI for very high in-game video settings with 3D Vision enabled and a high screen resolution to have decent playable framerates.

at least he didnt make a new topic started on the forums right? lol

But yeah I have 2 580's in sli and with 3d vision im getting 50+ fps. I don't know why you lost performance but if you already tried to turn off dof in settings and it didn't help then I would re install drivers?

This sounds to me like your system turned up your settings when you upgraded, resulting in lower performance, because the GTX 465 is a POS. Even a single GTX 580 has issues playing this game maxed out at high resolution, so a 465 is going to be a slide show. If you don't believe that statement, feel free to moesy on over to Guru3d.com and check out the GTX 580 review. With a i7 @ 3.75GHz and a single 580, they were barely able to push past 30fps average with the game maxed out at 1920x1200. So a 465 is probably gonna get about half that, mayhaps a bit more.

Easy people. Its an innocent question. If you really want to go by the rules tell him too search and not post. I'm sure his answer has been previously chatted about.
