I really want to play games like Limbo and other platform games but anytime I run the games, refresh rate automatically goes below 70hz, disabling 3D. I already set the refresh rate via 3D control center and for games where I can set the refresh rate separately 3D runs smoothly but games like Limbo, there is no option to set the refresh rate.
Does anyone know how to fix this problem?
Anyway, I use Viewsonic 3D projector.

A lot depends on your operating system. Back in the days of XP refreshloc worked wonders, but it lost support from the developer.
Vista i used RivaTuner from Guru3D.
I haven't used one since upgrading to W7 but I would think that MSI Afterburner would have it, since it a souped up version of RivaTuner made by the same people.

Any idea why the refresh rate lowers? Is it because of the resolution it's running at? Have you tried changing the in-game resolution to a lower setting?

You might try setting your desktop resolution to the desired refresh rate and resolution before loading the game. It might be trying to load your desktop setings. Or you might try changing the "Native" refresh/resolution settings in the EDID of your display bu using an override, if they are not what you normally use.
