CM mode is not a devs topic, it only concerns Nvidia and its drivers. So nope, I can't share your skepticism: according to R*, GTA5 is 3D vision ready, like every Rockstar games on PC since Mafia 2.

Allow!? Why can I picture them actually pushing it like it's better than ever now and that they don't even have to fix anything anymore it just all magically works after they bless it with a CM profile!? Lol.
You remember when they popped in here, after ignoring any and every user's issues for months and months, saying they had a *big* announcement ... and ever since that they've just been breaking things left and right ... and are back to ignoring users issues ...
... maybe bo3b can work his magic on them and get them to open source 3D Vision. ;)

It's hard not to be skeptical about this news after how 3D Vision has been treated lately. I am hoping this is true since Max Payne 3 was 3D Vision ready but that was a few years ago.

I am so happy for this also guys. I just have a few points....I sort of like CM mode. I use it for every game that does not have support, and in all honesty, I can not really tell the difference. Can someone tell me why everyone hates CM mode? (I have ASUS 3D Vision 2 monitor)
Also, we all know Nvidia and how they really do not care about anything other than money. Well, this 3D support does have a trail...there are whispers that Nvidia and GTA V are messing around with VR (Oculus Rift etc), so this could be something got to do with that (VR uses 3D).

OK, let's be clear about this: GTA V PC is done and was done 2 years ago.
That means it was done BEFORE 3D lost any interest among developers of [s]PC games[/s] PC ports of console games.
That means we actually have a chance!
But what if they left a lot, and only recently decided to finally finish the PC version?
This might mean only one thing: 3D Vision support, but broken: like compatibility mode only, no separation/convergence settings, no stable 60fps on a single GPU cards regardless of the detail levels in options menu etc.
I cross my fingers. GTA V + stable 60fps + 3D = awesomeness.
And...
easy VR support via mod. Just saying.
Damn it. I'm excited. I should've know better. Getting very optimistic about some important thing tends to be hurtful. Disappointments are the norm. But it's too late for me. I can't help it. I already imaginged GTAV in 3D 60fps. It looks so good in my imagination. SO GOOD.
Rockstar, please, don't f... this up.

and think about the Superman mod and flying between the buildings in 3D..

Mafia 1 and 2 is a property of 2K not Rockstar (developed by 2K Czech). Just as a reminder. But 3D support was perfect on this title :)
Anyway GTA V runs on RAGE ENGINE which received Stereoscopic 3D support sometime between GTA IV and Max Payne 3 so S3D was more then obvious long time before they announced. Actually someone from Rockstar spoke about it during MP 3 presentation - that they are always trying to put new technologies in theirs games and that's why they are back on PC market.

YEAH!! Awesome news! Wife wanted us to buy it for PS3 a long time ago. I said "Nope, gotta wait for the superior PC version. It's R*, so good chance it'll support 3d like Max Payne 3, and even if it doesn't, we'll have higher fps and resolutioin than any console can do. I don't care how long it takes." Yup... And just in time for my birthday! :P

Just played for 3 hours straight Max Payne 3 in perfect 3D. Damn this game looks still good and I can very well imagine how GTA will be and especially with the FPS perspective. On the other hand, there are some weird shaders and shadows that render not correctly during the cut scenes and I had to turn off MSSA and turn on SSAO for them to rendre correctly during the game. Let's hope the best.

I was never hyped about any of the GTA games although I can say I did play my share of them...
But if the game will be using the same engine as Max Payne 3 and Batman Games (possible different engines) then I don't mind about 1-2-3 broken shaders here and there...
Hell even if we get Metro Games "3D Vision Readiness" I am happy...:) (I am not talking of the LOD problem that seems to happen on some systems, where stuff pop in front of you, but the overall quality of stereo 3D)...
Now, I haven't heard or seen a developer who said they will support 3D Vision and not keep on their word (even if the support was 80% done).
So overall I think this is good news;)) What I hope for (nvidia wise) is GOOD and stable drivers for the game !!!!!
(Just my 2 cents on the matter ^_^)

Hi
I think this is really all about Oculus. I've read that they have several big name games which they cannot talk about coming with VR support. A key component of VR support would be stereoscopic visuals hence 3d vision. I bet they paid for GTA V to have Oculus VR support. Its very smart as people would buy a rift to play a quality AAA game like GTA 5 in first person VR mode.
I can see the game being re-released later in the year as GTA 5 VR edition once the rift comes out (probably with a price premium). I will wait before buying this game as I only want to buy it once and am dreaming about playing this on the a headset like Crescent Bay (latest version of rift).

Last Nvidia Drivers the oculus rift DK2 was ported the imaged to the difderent lenses propoerly with chromatic aberration and other issues.
Maybe Nvidia will try to the 3d vision drivers to work propoerly with the rift.
Problem is will you need 3d tv play driver for a 3rd party hardware or will 3d vision be all you need?
fingers crossed
