GTX 480 & 3D vision
  2 / 4
I have a 470 that I have not installed 3d vision yet but it's playing Battlefield BC2 with everything at full 1920x1080 120hz almost butter smooth and my fan is set at 72 which is not nearly as loud as my 360 which is near the ground and not next to my head like my comp is and the temp is at 69c.
The sound and heat are no different than the previous Nvidia cards I have owned.

Same here for the most part. I find it can get a bit warmer, a few degrees, but I have osme things in mind to mod my casses airflow better for the card.

So what kind of experience may I share with you?
Changed my 280 GTX against a 480 GTX yesterday. So far I can say Metro looks impressive in DX11 and 3DVision, but with one 480GTX it is not playable smooth.
AVP however runs perfect in DX11 maxed out.
The same for BF2BC, big different to the old 280GTX.

Temps are around 86Degrees when playing, 7 more than the old card.

Feel free to request the detailed information you like.

Just a quick opinion from me:

Upgraded from 3 GTX280 to GTX480SLI and I'm LOVING it! First, as has been stated, the min fps have improved a lot. Second, the GF100 archictecture eats ANY AA settings like candy. Third, those babes overclock like champs! Righht now I'm at 825/1650/2000 and I haven't even touched the voltages yet. I'm actually starting to think it might have been a wise move to go with the first batch because I'm getting the impression that Nvidia only selected the best chips for the frist run so word of mouth would spread.

Temps and noise are no issue as long as yet set a manual fan profile. Will go wc again once proper coolers come out. On a side note, I've got 3 GTX280 with WaterCool cooling blocks to sell now. If anyone's interested, give it a PM.

Glad to hear you like em lol just makes me more and more jelous /teehee.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':teehee:' />

Although with your overclock, what sort of effects has it had? Preformance gain and tempature levels ect? If you dont mind me asking.

Im actualy suprised you have oc'ed them lol there beasty enough as it is :P

Also,

Dose anyone know if there are any 3rd party cooling solutions for the 480 yet? or if anyone has heard of upcoming units?

Either larger fan cooled solution or water cooled solution..

I am currently running my 2 EVGA 480GTX SC's at 800/2000 for the time being. I have manually set my fan speeds at 77% and I am seeing temps reach about 80 degrees after playing Metro 2033 for a while. This is in a air-cooled system by the way. I love the fact that I can max out all the settings in DX11 on very high (turn off Advanced DoF like everyone does) and get good frame rates.

these cards in Sli are not any hotter or louder than my old quad 295 sli setup. max for me is 90c with auto fan profile. they play everything much better in 3d! i am really stoked on my cards. i was just playing metro 2033 at 1080p all settings maxed with tessellation and ADOF. this set up screams.

no way these cards will do triple monitor 3d with much visual quality or resolution. ill pass on that until the next generation of cards come out with allot more power. it is a waist of money at this point in time.

System:

Intel I7 920 overclocked to 4ghz

Asus Rampage Extreme II

2 Ge-force 480 in SLI

GTX 295 PhysX Card

12gb ddr3 2000mhz ram

Intel SSD in RAID 0

3d displays tested:

Mitsubishi 65" DLP 3d HDTV (good old 1080p checkerboard since 2007!!!)

Panasonic VT25 (nice 2d but I returned it due to cross talk)

Acer H5360 720p on 130" screen (the best 3d)

23" Acer LCD monitor (horrible cross talk- sold it)

Samsung 65D8000
