Fundamental design flaws. They designed it strictly with consoles in mind, and some things cannot be fixed without a full rewrite.
e.g. The game runs at 30 fps, and that is a fundamental design flaw, and probably what they mean by 'cannot be fixed'. If they uncap that for PC, that causes other knock on bugs and problems, maybe dumb stuff like the batmobile stutters.

I suspect the stutters may be caused by SLI and/or 3D being enabled. Is anyone getting them with those things turned off?
SLI support is allegedly coming, so maybe that'll help.

I don't own the game but from what ppl describe, it is not SLI stutter but very low framerate.
I'd guess that with SLI disabled FPS are even lower.
Again guessing, but disabling physics might help like in all previous batman games.

Enabling CM 3d definitely amplifies those stutters by a lot. I get some fps drops to low 50's with a 980 but its playable in 2d. CM 3d has much, much worse stutters and fps drops on a more frequent basis and sometimes the image even freezes for half a second. CM looks ok for what it is, but i'd put arkham knight unplayable even on CM standards due to performance.

I have massive stutter also in Arkham Origins (in real 3D of course) ... Running in 1080x1920 (on an ASUS ROG Swift), utilizing a GTX 980 Ti, where in the past even a GTX 980 could handle it quite smoothly for the most part.
So this might be (partially at least) a general issue with really bad performing current drivers.

No. Actually it's being reported on the official forums that enabling SLI is a sure-fire way to make the performace worse. People with SLI set-ups or dual GPU cards are having the most success by dedicating the second GPU to physics.
I can't verify this myself since I will not be purchasing the game until the price is drastically lowered, but I have been following it closely since this was the only game of 2015 marked on my calendar.

I totally enjoyed every single one of the Batman games in glorious 3D on my Sony HMZ-T1/T2/T3 and was planning to do so with Arkham Knight. As always I first waited for feedback and when the first gruesome reports rolled in combined with the expectation that this mess most likely will never be fixed for 3D I bought the PS4-Version.
When I first tried it on the PS4 I instantly noticed a very solid game but at the same time was disappointed that it really felt like playing an awesome game on a tiny screen (at home is 3D-only -area for me/PS4 gaming strictly on my Xperia Z4 tablet while being at my girlfriend's appartment via remote play) while it used to be more of a "I am really there"-experience with the prior Batman games on my HMZ in glorious 3D.
Additionally we were given new hope at this time with the announcement of a huge overhaul for the PC version of the game. So I put the PS4 version back on the shelf while waiting patiently for a new bug-free shiny and fixable PC version. Now that the game has been re-released the situation did not really change. The PC version still seems to leave a lot to be desired and I doubt this one will or could ever be fixed not because I doubt the skills of our wizards but because of the issues the game already has in its default state. CM is no option for me so only the real 3D-deal would let me get the game for PC and would let me sell my PS4 version which is already decreasing in reselling value.
So in the end I have a game sitting on my shelf that is part of one of my most beloved game-series and I just can't play it because there is no guarantee by now that it won't be fixed (and with that in mind I CAN'T enjoy it on the PS4) but at the same time Batman - Arkham Knight in real 3D seems like a lost cause (judging from current situation). I would gladly play it on the PS4 if I really knew for sure that the game will never be fixed.
Do you feel my desperation ;-)

I can play the game, g-sync enabled (so 2-D) stutter free on my system even with SLI on (not that SLI is helping performance, just not bothering to turn it off), and on Win 10 to boot. I have a gtx 950 dedicated to PhysX though so there may be something to the dedicated card thing.
Only stutter I saw was on the Red Hood map while grappling in a certain spot. The game would freeze for about 3 seconds, happened twice in the same session. I played it again later and it didn't happen.
Driving around in the batmobile's lag free for me, but my system was one of those that didn't have much problems with the game at release.
That said, I have a feeling too that this game will never be issue free on PC. If it took them this long just to get to this state.... plus the open refunds through 2015 is kind of telling of the state of the game on PC too.
It's too bad, I played all the way through the game on the interim patch and it's a great game.

Been playing some more. Starting to enjoy it, the city is quite rich and detailed, as always. Not so many stutter problems recently, perhaps because the missions aren't as car chase focused. But man, there's so many controls, and tutorials for controls. I really hope they don't expect me to remember all this.
So in short, behaviour has been better, not as bad as my initial batmobile experience. I'm guessing it's a hard-disk streaming thing. May come up again if future missions involve more car chases, I don't know.

Fundamental design flaws. They designed it strictly with consoles in mind, and some things cannot be fixed without a full rewrite.[/quote]
And the sad part of it is bo3b, they hinted at the possibility of fully re-writing the game when problems first surfaced and they had to pull the game. And in fact, after 5 months of working on a fix, many people (including myself) were under the impression that's what they were doing. Of course they didn't... and in fact I have no idea what took them so long to do what they did. It's just a disaster. It's really sad because they did such a fantastic job on the previous Arkham titles and it was my favorite series of all time. They have totally crapped all over their own reputation.

I wouldn't put the blame on Rocksteady too much. This this the fault of WB this year has been a disaster and it's due to their very shitty corporate decisions.
They made a right mess of Mortal Kombat as well, and ended up cancelling the last gen console versions when their, outsourced porting team couldn't get it working.
I suspect it was a very similar situation with this game to even more disastrous consequences.
I hope this is hitting them in the wallet very hard.
I personally am torn. This is one of my favorite game franchises at this point, and the only game I was really looking forward too this year.
Now I'm facing the possibility of not even playing it at all. I already got a refund the first time.
You have to wonder, what the hell have they been doing the last few months? But I refuse to support a company with such a wanton disregard of its user base.
Nvidia must be embarrassed as well, they are associated with this too.
