Benq W700 3dVision2 Upgrade to Benq 1070+ 3dTvplay
Hey there!
Iam think about to get a new projector. Benq W1070+.
Iam playing for a couple of years now with a W700, 720p, 3dvision2 Kit.
Can i use my 3dvision2 glasses for that 3dtvplay thing on the W1070+, or do i need
some new glasses from Benq?
Thatnk for any help!
cheers
When using 3DTV Play, Nvidia's emitter will act as a product key enabling 3DTV Play for free as long as it remains plugged in.
Otherwise, 3DTV Play costs $40.00
Nvidia's glasses can not be used when accessing Nvidia's stereoscopic drivers via 3DTV Play because the emitter is de-activated. Thus, you are required to use the manufacturers glasses or compatible 3rd party glasses.
With the W1070, you can use BenQ's glasses or any DLP Link glasses.
However, you can use Nvidia's glasses by overriding the EDID with that of a 3D Vision compatible projector.

This sort of works but you cannot disable dlp link sync so the picture has very strong red tint and its not usable(nvidia glasses do not block it). At least i do not know any way to disable it, you are required to pick frame sequential 3d mode in the projector in order to display 120hz 3d content which automatically activates red dlp link sync.
On some optoma projectors this works perfectly, ive tested hd26, hd36 and hd50.
Finally, a tip for choosing dlp link glasses. DO NOT cheap out on them, cheap ones have all sorts of problems. They do not stay in sync, they dont block dlp link flash and bad ghosting. My recommendation is to pick optoma zd302 or BenQ DGD5 glasses.

I think the red tint is because the wrong color profile is being sent. I had this problem at one time, but I can't remember the exact details. Like in Darksiders 1, the asphalt/street was pinkish instead of grey.
Not being able to disable the DLP Flash just resulted in the image being somewhat washed.

No, the dlp flash is red and strong on the benq projectors. It does ruin the image for non-dlp glasses. I also know where you are coming from, one of my projectors, hd67n doesnt have red dlp flash and it washes out the image like you said but it doesnt apply here with the benq projectors.

I've got the newer BenQ HT1075, which is pretty much a 1070, and I do not have an issue with the red tint using the Acer 5360 EDID and 3DVision glasses.

Interesting, do you need to enable framesequential in the projector menu when using 3d vision? My w1070 definitely had the red dlp flash so does my current w1110. Dlp link glasses block it completely but 3d vision glasses do not.
Could you share your edid file? I want to test if it works without having to put 3d mode on from the projector. Works that way with many of the optoma projectors when using 120hz edid.
Have you tried going into the "change resolution" tab of the NVCP and changing the "output dynamic range", from Full to Limited or vice versa?
Yes and its not that. w1110(w2000 too which i had couple weeks) uses red dlp flash for sure and benq support said all their current dlp link models do. Of course they could be mistaken. Im sure w1070 uses red sync also, ive had one. Also easy to verify that one, there's a 35 pages long discussion on avs forum about w1070 compatible 3d glasses and which ones block the red.

Yes, I do have to enable frame sequential through the menu, which is always a pain in the ass.

Have you tried it sammy123, it makes me wonder if the EDID you were using was adulterated.
If it fixes it, I'd suspect that someone altered the chromaticity or color space of the original EDID.

I havent got time yet. Edid is not faulty though, everything works like its supposed to. Red dlp flash is there even without edid override(3dtvplay, tridef), or when using 3d bluray player. Its just the way it works, the 3d picture quality itself is perfect when using correct glasses. Im not sure why you dont want to believe that the dlp sync signal for the glasses is red but its extremely easy to verify yourself even without owning the projector. Im sure many reviewers even mention it.
I was hoping DJ-RK edid allowed me to view 3d vision without having to turn on framesequential 3d on the projector itself so the dlp sync wouldn't be activated. Worked like that with many of the optoma projectors.
