Which 3rd party shutter glasses can I buy to use with the Acer HN274H (27") and the PS3/Blu-ray
QUESTION ANSWERED: Contrary to what I had thought, you actually can use the 3D Vision glasses for the PS3 and Blu-ray 3D with the Acer HN274H (see below). Next time I'll google a little harder.

Hi,
I think you may be stuck as you simply cannot use them nvidia glasses on a hdmi 1.4 display.
Will 3D Vision Pro work with consumer HDMI 1.4 3D TVs?
No, the current generation of 3D TVs use their own glasses and are not compatible with 3D Vision Pro.

UPDATE: Hmm....according to this article on the 3D Vision blog, you actually CAN use the 3D Vision glasses for all the other types of HDMI 3D on this monitor. I'll be damned! I was so convinced that the 3D Vision glasses wouldn't work for it (like other HDMI 1.4 TVs) I didn't even bother searching "HN274H PS3" via google, until I started thinking about how much differently this monitor works versus the others thanks to having support for both standards of 3D.
You can of course connect a PS3 console and play games in stereo 3D mode with it, as well as any other 3D-capable consumer electronic device that can output 3D in the frame packaged format defined in the HDMI 1.4(a) standard. On the other hand you get 1080p at 120Hz over the Dual-Link DVI and 3D Vision support on the PC, something that is still not available with 3D HDTVs due to use of the HDMI 1.4 standard. The monitor comes with a built-in 3D Vision IR emitter and a pair of 3D Vision active shutter glasses that you will be using even when the 3D is coming trough the HDMI interface.
I guess the monitor just detects any incoming 3D standard and converts it to work with its built-in 3D Vision emitter and 3D Vision glasses. Sweet deal. That means getting into PS3 3D for me will be as simple as picking up a PS3 and games and that is that :D

Just picked one of these up myself.

essentially its a 1.4 3d tv but rather than using its own glassess like most do - it uses nvidia glasses instead.

So basically everything 3D will work on the nvidia glasses, or glasses compatable with nvidias IR signal.

When you factor in the fact this monitor comes with an IR emmitter and a pair of glasses, its not a bad price. im going to sell my glasses as i already have 3 pairs, and its going to equate to £400 for the monitor.
