It's a sweet game, but it's broken, I tweaked it out a bit and used some different profiles and got it better than default, but it still has issues. With the graphics settings maxed and the right amount of AA, the game really shines, even in 2D. The primary issue is haloing, lighting and shadows, the thing is, the main character has himself an aura by default, also the other spirits and objects that glow have similar effects. This plus the 3D Issues really amplifies the problems. I would love to see a proper fix for this game, as I played thru a couple hours and it was fun, different from the norm being able to walk thru walls, like a 'no-clipping' option in a sense. Anyone else try it? ~Nutz

I might check this out at some point, but the reviews are pretty mixed. Still, it would be nice if someone made a fix.

Looks pretty interesting, I hope it gets fixed, closest thing to a new horror game in a long time.

This game is DX11, not DX9... Using Tridef "Bioshock Infinite" profile, the game runs great (only some minor shadows issues on characters in cinematics). Yesterday i play like 1 hour....the game is not that good IMO.

Might be worth fixing for practice I guess, seeing as UE3 is probably going to be big.

It looks like the cutscenes are just bink video files (.bk2) and definitely only in 2d, this particularly sucks as (at least as far as I've played) the flow is like 2 min in-game then a 2 min pre-rendered cutscene. This really breaks the immersion, and is a total shame as the game itself really doesn't look that broken, as said before, just minor shadow and halo problems. I don't think there is any excuse for using pre-rendered video these days, especially when it is obvious that it was rendered using the game's engine to begin with.

It can be forced to DX9. Tbh, Wozman420 says it all. Its a TERRIBLE 3d vision game, the worse I've ever played. I actually fixed alot of it and realized as I played its not worth it. Its constantly interrupted with 2D cutscenes. Like every time you meet a new character/start a "quest". Its WAY more then any game I've ever played and its not even that its all at once its 3D->2D->3D->2D contstantly. Its not really obvious they are pre rendered cutscenes in 2D in case you don't know what I am talking about but its painfully obvious in 3D. ------------------- You can use depthbuffer most likely by forcing it to same profile as Bioshock Infinite with nvidia inspector. However you will quickly see the same thing. @Wozman420 Blame disc based consoles. Though tbh, I've never seen a case this bad.

That said, as I was playing this, I was explaining to my son this very point, the ordinary 2D gamer would have very little, if at all, issue with the cut-scenes, but when using 3D IT IS PAINFULL! As I said earlier, I am fond of the unique gameplay and the graphics are impressive under the right circumstances, if you have a partial fix, please post it, some is better than none. If not, that's ok too. I understand it may not be "packaged" in a way that would function for the common folk. So, no big deal! I appreciate the look you gave the game at all, thank you! ~Nutz

Nah, it requires a lot more to get it a point where its playable. I was having trouble with the glow around all the ghosts when I gave up and only started just starting working on shadows. I played for a bit then realized the game was a bust. Not to mention DX9 costs a reduction in Ambient Occlusion. Its almost nauseating going from 3D->2D that often and I know what bothers me, bother others alot more [Since I am used to looking at busted games]. Game is a bust in 2D as well if you ask me. I can help you get it working with Fake 3d if interested[just pm me] but its not worth it.
@Wozman420 Blame disc based consoles. Though tbh, I've never seen a case this bad.
I'm a big believer in blaming disc based consoles. But I thought pre-rendered video actually took up more space, which is why they usually feel the need to use such horrible compression on it. Was I wrong about that? Anyway, thanks for the heads up, eqzitara

They take up much more space which is correct though this is actually less of a problem for discs then hard drives nowadays since blu-ray has like 50gb capacity. This actually makes developers more likely to use them because.. They allow "seemless" transition / no load times. Oftentimes a game is loading during them. Max Payne 3 is a perfect example because its a stage finished with in-game cinematics[level-This is because assets are there] then transitions into pre-rendered for the level transition to prevent load times. The reason its very bad in this game is because its excessive and doesn't make sense. Its doing them when it shouldn't have to. Which is something I've never seen before.
