Upcomming 3D monitors? Better ones? Any information
  1 / 2
Does anybody know about upcomming 3D monitors which are compatible with Nvidia 3d Vision? What about hdmi 1.4 compatible 3d monitors? It looks like there is some problem with the currently available Full HD 3D monitors from Acer and Alienware. I was thinking of buying one but when I read the problems with each display I changed my mind. What do you guys suggest?

LG will offer the W2363D in one or two months. It's a 23inch FullHD screen(1920x1080) . Maybe it's an alternative to the Alienware. Technical specs are nearly the same.

Acer has been crucified already for producing horrible 2d quality. I guess if all you do with the display is gaming in 3d, then maybe its acceptable. Having the samsung 2233rz, I dont know if I want to fork over that much money for a little more res. Alienware sounds like it may be better, if I didnt have anything, that is easily what I would choose. The acer appears to have simply compromised 2d quality for 3d.

I have no problems with the Acer. I use that as the Primary display and the samsung as the secondary display

I am sure you can find more on the internet. Acer monitor is not good for 2D. Alienware is expensive and better than acer in 2D but people have ghosting problems. And none of these monitors are hdmi 1.4 yet.

I already have a Acer H5360 projector which works great in 3D. I was thinking about buying a 3D monitor but then after reading issues with these monitors I thought may be it is better to wait for better ones.

I use 2d monitor a lot for online reading and programming stuff. I read on the forums about getting headache after long use. Do you use it a lot and still has no problems? Initially i was also thinking about Acer but got disappointed after reading the forums.

I only replace my Samsung 2223rz for a 27" LED Monitor. Less is not worth it, I don't think a 23"or 24" FULL HD monitor will give me a noticeable difference, actually I'm sure it won't. I already have a 24"FULL HD 2D monitor and there's no considerable difference in size and resolution.

27" will be good to go, 32" would be awesome but that's a TV size already. Led looks way better than regular LCD and I assume 3D will look gorgeous in LED painel. I'll wait till it comes available.

DLP projector is the way to go. Adjustable screen sizes, Cheap(er), MUCH bigger screen, and 0 ghosting !
(If you can live without the 1080p, personally I prefer the extra performance at 720p)

I own 3 Acer 24" 2D monitors as well as the Acer GD235HZ 120mhz 3D capable monitor.

And I have no complaints about them at all. i use the 2D monitors around 8 to 10 hrs daily and i get no headaches. As a matter of fact I prefer the Acer over my samsung 40".

Just my 2 cents worth (if its worth that much)

I have to say I do love my Alienware AW2310...just ordered 2 more so I'll have 3 soon. I've read it's very similar to the Acer so I'm sure that's good too.
23" at 1080p definitely seems big enough.
I was worried about it because I used a 47" 1080p LCD for a couple years then went to the 22" Samsung...to the Alienware and I definitely enjoy the Alienware the best.
Once you get used to a 120hz screen, it's hard to go back.

I did mention before that the Acer was tiring on the eyes at first, but now i got used to it. It aint a bother anymore to use for a long period of time. I have it set as my primary display with my samsung next to it.
After alot of thinking whether to buy this monitor or not, i'm satisfied with my purchase. The 2D quality isn't top notch as my samsung, but i can live with it. Just like Appelsap mentioned. It is decent. And it offers slighlty
less ghosting than the Alienware. If you like the stylish look of the Alienware and the extra connections go for it. The 2D quality should also be better. I still think that these monitors are not yet well built with all that ghosting.
Yes, Im talking about the Acer, Alienware, Samsung, View Sonic. If you want to wait, wait and see what the Asus has to offer in May/June.

For now the Acer is the one with less ghosting. For gaming that is a nice plus.

LED is just the backlight type (as opposed to CCFL), the screens are still LCDs. LEDs bring lower power consumption, usually a more even backlight and usually a bigger colour gamut, but they won't fix any problems with 3D caused by the deficiencies of LCD technology. It's pretty shameful the way they are marketted as 'LED screens' as if it's some new screen type, when they're actually just LCDs with a different backlight.
