I know you guys don't have a voluntairy donation option and aren't willing to add one. But let me explain why I would like to have one:
Every time I download one of your amazing fixes, I feel almost guilty. Hours spent by you guys to get a game fixed and there it is, for free. What can I do in return so far? Say "Thank you" and that's not enouh for me. So if I coul donate an amount of money, it makes me feel better cause I gave something back. There is pleasure in giving!
I don't want to speak for Helix, but I think I understand. If he want's to accept donations, let him do it willingly, not be pressurised into it. He clearly does this because of a love for 3D gaming, and a genuine belief that not everything should be part of a capitalist system.
By accepting donations, this could cause negative changes for him. It starts to have expectations and a hold over him, and as he implied, he then loses freedom. So my advice, from what I understand of him, is be grateful, say thank you. If you ever meet him, buy him a beer.
But i genuinely think I understand that, he doesn't need/want the money, and so it would only sour the experience for him in making his fixes. So if you really want to say thank you, don't push donations... As odd as that reads.
Just write a big thank you, and try to do something similarly positive as his free fixes. Whether you help this community in some way, or do a days charity work. I could be completely wrong, but If i understand correctly, that would be a much more appreciated way of saying thank you.
P.s. I too would happily donate a small amount of money to Helix, and feel a little guilty using all these wonderful fixes for free. But I say, suck it up! I'd rather feel guilty than to have to the one doing the fixes feeling pressurised or losing enjoyment out of his work.
I think part of the problem with donations is just for while there are people giving out of good reasons such as yourself. There is the opposite, who feel donation = obligation. Like I donated, do this.
You can fix this problem by simply clearly stating: "If you like what we're doing, you can donate here if you want" (and then a paypal link). People who expect something in return (because they donated) will never donate then.
Widescreenfixer and flawless (free tools/fixes for triple monitor gaming) work like that and as far as I can tell that works fine (maybe helifax knows more about it, since he is an active widescreenfixer.

Im not Helix, I'm "amateur-level" skilled. At best I am a modder of a modder. I basically get by on my attention to detail/ amount of time put in research. So me taking any donations while Helix doesn't is a bit out of the question.
Regardless, I am kind of happy with things are. If helix were to ever want donations. Maybe I'd think about adding it on my posts but I dunno. Im pretty content.

Ok, thanks for explaining! And don't be too hard on yourself: you have made some amazing fixes!
But do you agree that the problem of seperating the "donaters for a good reason/donaters for a bad reason" is solvable (as described in my previous post?

SG have a page showing both wrappers in action. The original aim was to highlight areas in each that still required improvement (they were/are both wip projects)
You can download the helixmod video (64mb) for full screen/hi-res viewing.

Alright someone contact me through PM because he was getting crazy issues. Then I asked him if he was pirating and he said yes..... updating the game fixed it for him.
Only steam version [legitimate copy] is supported. If your running an unupdated version of the game it will not play right.

Who was pirating? Tut tut, pirating is bad, mmmmkay! Seriously, 4 million sold of BS:I... For such an expensive 'art' game, i can't see how it makes much money. Please buy it if you want to play it. Steam sales are very cheap if your patient and at let the devs get something!
Unless you all want safe bets like cod 11 or farmville 13 to become standard :-)

I must confess that sometimes I download an illegal version. Just to see if I like the game, there aren't that many demo's for pc. I did this for Borderlands 2 (I hated Borderlands 1). Weird thing happend. The illegal version was a retail version. The 3D was amazing! So 2 weeks later I bought the steamversion and the 3D was crap and I needed the helixfix. Really weird.

No idea. If you touch convergence at all borderlands 2 unpatched it goes bad in 3D. If you played it for a limited time/with no convergence it may seem alright. It basically worked with no convergence when it first came out [1.00/1.01]. Then they made it worse in a patch.
My borderlands 2 patch sucked for a while[Till April(?)]. Pretty good now though. I probably played it more this year then any other game [I really enjoy no crosshair]

I'm pretty sure I didn't touch convergence, so maybe that's the reason.
I hated Borderlands 1 (SO boring), but Borderlands 2 is one of my fave games now. 120 hours and counting!

each different wrapper had it’s own issue’s, noticeable in the helix video with the statue
And also this can still appear (can't say for sure):
"There is one glitch when some objects after level loading became 2D or has some strange glows.
This is a compatibility problem of the game with 3d vision driver and can occur without fix too(in 3d mode only).
Can be fixed by reloading game from the last save(don't need re-run the game , just load last save)."
This caused by driver, I think because you're writing a video.
Atm, don't know how to bypass it(except reload from last CP), it happens even without wrapper.

Its not a SLI/NON-SLI issue related? Or profile?
Sounds similar to the alt-tab issues.
