Definitely fixes the problem, thanks OP! Seems like my framerates have REALLY taken a beating since replacing the file though... does it take significantly more processing to render the xhair in 3d as opposed to 2d??

Yes, and in some games it is worse than others. Ask the people that play Half-Life 2 about the 3D crosshair performance although some of that can probably be improved with a driver fix.

Just to be clear, I'm talking about the BC2 crosshair, not the nvidia 3d crosshair that you can enable via cntl + F12. I haven't spent too much time in game actually, and now that I think about it I may have still been running Folding@home accidentally, but it seemed like when I replaced this file and just used the BC2 crosshair the FPS were drastically lower than before. I'll have to test again tonight, like I said I may have been running folding@home at that time...

This fix stops some online multiplayer maps from working and will crash you to desktop... Good for single player, very bad for multiplayer. White Pass on Rush was the map it would not let me play, every time I would try to join the servers or if it changed map to this map it would crash to desktop. No Issues before I applied this fix.

Good call, I started getting some crashes to desktop last night too and didn't even make the connection. I was eventually able to connect to anything I needed, just start the game with 3d disabled and enable once you get into the game.

have you guys tried searching through the replaced (recent/broken patch version) of Package.mft to see if it has a link or any reference to White Pass/Rush? If so you could probably just copy and paste the relevant lines. That's all this file appears to be, links to game assets/objects, so if the updated version was linking to that map and the link didn't exist, that would probably be why you crashed. I'll try and check this out later.

I tried comparing the files but they are HUGE and there are HUNDREDS of lines difference between them with no discernable pattern. Further, all the options are pretty crypticly named with no well-defined structure, so I don't think there's an easy way to go about it. /confused.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Maybe someone a little better with code could take a look....?

Did anyone get any further with this? I love BC2, and am desperate for an online crosshair fix.

I'm'back to the old patch where the crossair is broken.
Now I can play all the maps again without errors.
but... I only join the 'hardcore' servers where everybody play without crossair, and problem solved ..atleast it's fair play now...

For me this is a temperarely fix ..sort off.

I play mainly hardcore servers, and with the patch I haven't had any issues thus far.
