Alright. I have a system with a Q6600 quad core @3.0ghz, 4gb DDR2 1066mhz, 4x blu-ray / HD-dvd drive combo, and a 9800 GX2. For a display, I have a 60" mitsubishi DLP TV.
I'm not 100% sure if the TV is 3D compatible, but I've heard mitsubishi DLP to have good success in 3D around forums and such. I've looked at the spec sheet for 3D vision requirements on nvidia's site, and the system seems to be plenty enough for games, movie files, and apps, but for 3D blu ray, the specs seem messed up. It has the 400/300 column appear normal, but the 200/100 series column just repeats the 400/300 one and adds a few notebook cards, and then the next to columns are blank?
Am I to assume that the 9800 GX2 and all earlier cards are not compatible with 3d blu-ray? It seems very silly to me if so, and also, if it is so, is it a possibility to include them in a future driver update? The 9800 GX2 still outperforms the gtx 260, and even the 275 280 and 285 in a couple games. and I cant really see any big architecture jumps from the 9000 series to the 200 series that would prevent this..

Its not that they are not compatible but that they wont accelerate the video. Your processor will be doing all of the decoding. A driver update wont enable this. You need to buy a new card to do hardware AVC MVC decoding.
Get the model # of your TV and see if it is 3D ready.

If you TV accepts checkerboard then it will play. No idea what the performance is like. Try it out and let us know.
