Silicone Micro Display ST1080 HMD - 3D Vision Compatible? Do I need to buy 3DTV Play to use this?
  2 / 2
Can someone confirm that 1080p 3D@24Hz is bearable for gaming?
You might know Bloody's 3D-Vision-Blog and he tested several games in 1080p@24Hz (long time ago) with really positive results. In that case there would be no "small Screen"-problem with the ST1080 and you could even game @1080p 3D since 3DTV Play also supports 1080p@24Hz.

How is it possible that he didn't mention the small screen when he wrote about PC-3D-gaming in conjunction with the ST1080?
[/quote]

From what I can tell he didn't play any PC games. He has only played games on the consoles. The only PC gaming that he mentions was done on the Sony HMZ-T1 unit that he was making comparisons to. When using the Nvidia 3dtv option to play PC games on the ST1080 you will have the same small screen issue.

is there no hack for 3DTV Play so you can play in 1080p@24?

as for the screensize in 720p, there will be a switchfunction from SMD around June if i read their blogpost right.

I highly don't recommend even attempting games at 24hz. Some games may work but it will give higher chance of eyestrain/headaches. Some people have trouble watching movies at 24hz, its even worse for games.
Some games will play well at 24hz/ some won't. Ive heard positive results from dragon age origins in past. Basically no fps/no racing game. Any game that has "low motion" will have higher chance of working.

Its just a temporary solution till NVidia manages to buy up a company that can tell them how to support some of the 1080p/i@60 Hz solutions, like 1920x1080p @ 60Hz Side-by-Side (half resolution) or 30Hz Top Bottom (full resolution)

There will be constant updates to the ST1080 and to the NVidia drivers/software in the near future, so in the next few years i hope they work together someday, so we can use both.

just started using them. I'm typing this message with them on. It's a little weird at first but i'm getting used to it. I tried to set up 3D just now and went through the setup process but the settings are still greyed out on the
control panel. I'll give that 14 day trial a go and report back. Yeah, it's pretty bad ass.

any more impressions?
