Very slight ripples on 24" Acer when running in 120hz When first switching the monitor on.

For the most part my monitor is awesome and works really well in 3d I just have an annoying problem.
Whenever I havn't used it for a while and switch it on and it's set to refresh at 120hz, there is a slight rippling effect (It's like black bands going from top to bottom but not full distrotion of the borders etc).
It gradually dies down after 20 mins until I can't see it, but it used to do that in only 10 mins.
I'm thinking that it could also be affecting my 3d vision preformance.
I don't understand why it gets better over time and not worse; I'm thinking it could be a heat issue?
Any Ideas?

Thats how an LCD draws the screen from upside down 120/ 1hz / 1 picture .
Still its not good enough (upside down) cause there are some artifacts to combat , and they use the glasses to do this, the glasses arent working like 50/50 opaque / transparent , but some 80 / 20 opaque / transparent / frame.
A DLP projector on the other hand is 50/50 and , gives still frames instead of drawing, but different colors, so 1 hz = 3 picture ( R G B ).
So the advantage here is two fold, 50/50 shuttering, and still frames. Superior technology. Even 720p resolution is something that has more advantages than disadvantages (better fps, looks just as sharp).

I may as well after I've tested a few things and take a video of the effect so they don't send it back and charge me 50 squid. Might be my video card causing it ...:(

nothing is perfect, and this is the best you can do with a small display (not DLP projector or DLP/plasma tv)
what he is complaining about seems like a hardware defect in the backlight invertor/the backlight itself
he should get it RMA'd

The monitor in the first youtube link i doubt are really 3D monitors , if you look at the screen they're 4:3 and not widescreen while rules out all 120hz monitors.

actually, all they need to do right now for a ghostless experience is to perfect overdrive so that it doesn't overshoot, and maybe uses the next frame as reference as well on how much overdrive to apply, then make that into an ASIC and every display can have near perfect 120hz...

ha!!! Maybe what he sees is one of the progressive scanning artifacts. Similar to the samsung LCD TV's uneven backlight bleed, then the service man comes out, verifies it "normal" gives you a sticker and leaves :D .

actually, all they need to do right now for a ghostless experience is to perfect overdrive so that it doesn't overshoot, and maybe uses the next frame as reference as well on how much overdrive to apply, then make that into an ASIC and every display can have near perfect 120hz...
too bad we are still in the experimental stages of 120hz overdrive though, it will take a few monitor releases in order to perfect it
