The panasonic TV uses brand new state of the art plasma displays (which are known to already outclass pretty much anything) and the TV costs thousands of dollars.
So yes, when you compare it to an LCD display... i guess the two products don't fight in the same categories.
As DreamingAwake says, you should compare it with DLP projectors.... when 1080p 3D projectors will be available.

I have also seen this Pansonic display (VT20) in person and I can attest that the quality is second to none for a home solution. Images are crystal clear, colors popped and the 3D had no ghosting whatsoever. Unfortunately this accounts for BluRay content only. Even if you buy this TV and get the Nvidia 3DTV Play you are limited to 720P for gaming. I haven't personally seen the Nvidia 3D Vision 1080P displays so I can't exactly compare the two. However the Panasonic looked really good.

I saw the Samsung setup at Best Buy and there was noticeable ghosting. The crystal clear image though made up for that and is probably the clearest 3D I've seen yet. But, it's not large enough yet... I'll wait for a 100% compatible 3D 1080p PJ and a glasses kit that is easier to mess with than 3D Vision. I'd say within 1.5 years, I'll have PS3 (already have) w/ the FW upgrade, a new 3D 1080p PJ, and whatever glasses seem to be the most mainstream/compatible. 3D Vision is great, but I have realized I hate HTPC set ups. Too much fiddling, driver issues, hardware/software incompatibilities etc. I love 3D Vision now, but I also loved HD-DVD before Blu-Ray took over. :P Not the best analogy, but I just mean I'm looking forward to the more simple solution.

Just to mention something : the 3D playstation 3 games will certainly be 720p only. the mandatory 720p hdmi frame packing format "designed for gaming" instead of using 1080p (while hdmi1.4 does have the bandwidth for 60fps stereo1080p) weren't introduced there without a reason and it is obvious Sony pushed it that way.

Well it works with Band width and if you have slow connections and the server is off abit you can get this type behaviour in posting.
That's ok. At the screensize I use, you can't tell the difference between 1080p and 720p that I've been able to notice. I'm just more excited about ditching the HTPC hassle.

For $2500, it better look nicer than my $250 monitor.

I think the reason the Ps3 will only support 720p is because it will have
trouble pushing all those pixels in 1080 in 3d.. Smart move by Sony if
you ask me. The thing I can't see is players moving and jumping around using
the Playstation Move controller with a $200 pair of shutter glasses on their face..
^ Lol.. Yeah true. Not sure what to think about Move, myself. I'd prefer just a camera set up like the Natal or even just the EyeToy for head tracking in 3D. Dat wuld be t3h boMbz!11!!11

I saw the samsung myself and was amazed at the quality. On the other hand I expected too be because it is the first commercially released (uncompressed/unconverted) true 1080p 3D blu-ray being displayed on it. Something we have yet to see on our 3D vision setups.
After having used the Samsung 22"/Samsung50"Plasma/Zalmon22"/IZ3D22"/Mitsubishi62"DLP/Acer H5360106"/Samsung 1080P LED 3D...
I like the Acer the best for now. 3D is directly dependent on size and adds a level of immersion/out of screen effects that you just physically cannot get from a small display.
The 720P/1080P isnt THAT crucial of a difference to me though and 2D Blu-Rays on this projector with a pro-screen are phenominal. I can't wait to see 3D Blu-Rays
It does support 1080 mode and DLP-Link as well so you can use XpanD/RealD
I'm a sucker for projection and feel its a must for any home theater if room permits.
Far more enjoyable, immersive, more like a theater and dollar for dollar you just cannot beat it.

The DLPs like the Mitsu are a ton better than my Sammy LCD as well so it all depends on what you are comparing too amigo.
3D vision could be mind boggling in my DLP and I just watched Avater at the movies so I have a good reference point. There are things 3d vision do that Avatar did not.
I agree with the previous poster, projectors are unique...I love my Infocus 7210 but my pc room is too small for the Acer unless it is a short throw project that is.
I have never seen a DLP TV that can match my Infocus, nor LCD or Plasma for that matter.

Also it depends on what display you are using.
3d vision can be used with the new displays that are coming out.
Have you seen 3d vision on a DLP projector yet ??
