Benq XL2420TE 3d Vision ready?? Can't get mine to work.
I'd be grateful if someone could tell me steps to take so I could set up 3D. I'm trying to use my 3D Vision 2 glasses with the BenQ XL2420TE. Thank you.
Windows Device Manager shows the display by make and model as well as the nVidia GTX780 pair functioning normally.
The nVidia control panel shows the display by make and model in the "Configure SLI, Surround, PhysX" page.
However, on the "Setup Stereoscopic 3D" page, the "Stereoscopic 3D Display Type" does not have a list like the manual shows but only the text: "3D Vision Discover".
The nVidia Setup Wizard has 4 buttons: "USB IR Emitter and Glasses", "Wired Glasses", "Pro Hub and Glasses", and "Discover Glasses". That's all. The first choice waits for me to plug in an emitter which I don't have because I have the display with one built in. The manual shows a picture with a Dual-Link DVI cable as the only connection between my GTX780 and the display. I cannot proceed.

Yes, Benq supplied it. It's a DVI-D dual link cable. It's the only dual link I've got. I have a couple of single link cables though. Should I look for a dual link from a third party?

Are you absolutely certain the monitor has an emitter built in? I can't find anything mentioned on the benq site, and from photos I can't see an emitter.
If you're sure, I'd try a complete driver reinstall.

I was looking at these a bit ago for someone.
XL2420TX--XL2420TX is even embedded with 3D IR emitter and come with NVIDIAR 3D Vision™ 2 Glasses Kit - http://www.benq.us/product/monitor/xl2420tx/
XL2420TE-- http://www.benq.us/product/monitor/xl2420te - No mention of glasses or built in emitter. Need an external emitter.

I think you're right although the monitor frame has a pinhole in the lower right corner with "3D" and a glasses icon. The upper right corner says "3D Vision Ready". These are stuck on.
Actually, it appears there's nothing "3D Vision Ready" about it. "3D Vision with Complete Connectiviy" is no connectivity at all. It has HDMI, DVI, etc but those aren't part of the connection to 3D Vision. The built-in USB hub is as close as it comes to connectivity for 3D Vision. What makes this monitor "3D Vision Ready"? It might seem that ANY monitor is 3D Vision Ready (maybe just not certified).
So my monitor is 3D Vision Ready with complete connectivity if I buy the complete 3D Vision 2 Wireless Glasses Kit (which doesn't even connect to it). If nVidia has certified this monitor as "3d Vision Ready", maybe they'll certify my printer which also doesn't have an emitter. Granted, it doesn't have a LCD display either. You have to purchase that separately too.

One of the things that makes it 3d vision ready is that it operates at 120hz. Most monitors do not do this, and therefore cannot display a 3d image. The certification also means nVidia has tested and enabled 3d with this model.
With two 780s you could have an excellent 3d setup there, and I'd highly recommend setting it up.

I agree though, It the manufactures fault. Should be "3d vision capable'. No one can blame you, documentation is so unclear and vague especially since its to support multiple models.
If I buy a ready to serve Pizza I might expect to throw it in the oven and done. Not for it just be the crust.

Hey, i use XL 2470 xl and it has the same 3d vision ready woth a jole left bottom corner that sorta looks like and emitter. They sold it as 3d vision rdy, now i understand thats becorse it can go 120hz only the hole is only a light sensor that turns on the buttons lights when ur finger goes near the monitor.
They should remove the 3d "glass" image becorse people think the hole is an emitter.
i bet many has bought glasses and no emitter and stand just like us.

while monitor turned on -> pull the power plug off from the back of the monitor
put the power back, try 3d stereo setup now, your 3d stereo should work now
the 3d stereo will work until you turn off monitor, repeat power cable plug off for it work again
it's known bug in original TX monitor, Benq offers firmware update (must mail the monitor to them)

To the OP. Did you finally made it work? I ask because I have the same monitor and can't understand why there is a small hole in the lower right corner and why it needs an IR emitter.

They should remove the 3d "glass" image becorse people think the hole is an emitter.
i bet many has bought glasses and no emitter and stand just like us.
while monitor turned on -> pull the power plug off from the back of the monitor
put the power back, try 3d stereo setup now, your 3d stereo should work now
the 3d stereo will work until you turn off monitor, repeat power cable plug off for it work again
it's known bug in original TX monitor, Benq offers firmware update (must mail the monitor to them)
