Let's get things in order and give credit where credit is due.
I have looked through the whole helixmod site and I'm not mentioned even once.
I should be given credit in the post where the assembler is used.
As you can see the thread is heavily edited.
Great attitude and Good luck!
If you can create a working VR solution that allows 3D vision games to be played on the Rift and/or Vive then I think you could really make some money and get recognition.
I would gladly pay for any software that did this and I'm sure many would as well.
As I've been saying, there is gonna be billions of dollars to be made in VR. By 2020 VR is expected to pull in more money then the film industry.
3D unfortunately is dead. Most manufactures are no making 3D tvs anymore, and there are no new 3D monitors either.
The next iteration of 3D is already started (VR) and I personally think this time it will be a global success.

Let me agree to disagree there;) While technically the product is EOL (end of line), this doesn't mean 3D is dead;)
For 3D Vision look here.. is more alive then it was at lunch... New MODELS of 3D Screen doesn't mean is dead... You will most likely find "older" products still being produces in the following years.
While I sympathize with the idea of VR, I can't see it replace it stereo 3D... My plans will be to support (as much as I can) 3D Vision... VR.. still questionable at this time...

FYI, I am not a lawyer but disassembling and hacking the nVidia code might be against their terms and conditions that you agree to upon installing the driver, and potentially illegal. After all your hard work, they might send you a cease and desist and threaten to sue you for attempting to revere engineer their IP.
Also, FYI, nvidia had planned to convert 3D Vision into VR but Oculus themselves scoffed at the idea because hey didn't feel it would be a good translation. I think nvidia finally agreed with Oculus because they have been very silent about it. I hope it works and is released soon, but the silence is not a good sign. Which brings me to another point - you might find that after all your hard work, nvidia might release their own version of 3D Vision to VR, or find VR solution to 3D vision substandard.
Please do explore all the potential of as many eventualities as you can think of before you begin, otherwise you risk spending a huge amount of time on a null result.
I wish you the best!

I still hope for a 3D reviwal with glasses free 3D, this tech could get 3DTV's going again, and it must be fairly easy to make 3D vision to work with a glases free monitor !

....and if Nvidia decide to to this where are they gonna get their 3D vision ready profiles? Maybe they should just pay the shader hackers here for all their work as "Fake" 3D that Nvidia currenlty supports would look like absolute shit in VR. Can you image how the halos would look in VR? You need proper geometry 3D in VR or it's completely pointless and breaks the illusion VR is trying to create.

I completely agree with you. 3D is dead from a hardware perspective, but it's obviously more alive then ever in terms of games that are 3D vision ready because of people like you. The problem is that this community will not really grow, as seen by the complete lack of newbs posting questions here. 3D vision is not plug and play really, and people would be here asking about the blog and how to install fix's, etc I remember years ago when I first started 3D gaming, there was crazy amounts of new people freaking about how great 3D gaming is, as was expected. Playing 3D games for the first time is something that you want to talk about.
It's getting really hard to even get a 3D vision kit in Canada. It's discontinued, and even though some sites like NCIX list it as in stock they confirmed to me that my order was cancelled because Nvidia is no longer making the 3D vision 2 kit. First they told me that it would take 4-5 days and then said it's not available.

Glasses can still be bought from Amazon.co.uk though... I think I'll just buy an extra pair (not like I don't have 3pairs already...lol, but one of my 3D Vision 1 glasses has issues with the battery lately...can still use them plugged in...but well I prefer to avoid it;)))
The 5 years of a product life-span is here... we are actually 1-2 years over it;)
I still think 3D Vision is a better media than VR as you can run in stereo 3D basically everything as in VR you need special tailored apps... but well maybe in time things will change (I really hope so)

Well, they are trying to "make" us think that we need specialty tailored apps, but that's not really true.
Sure, it's better if a game is designed from the ground up for VR, but I played Half Life 2, episode 1 and episode 2, and Alien Isolation which weren't designed with VR in mind and they played freaking amazing on my DK2.
Also, 3rd person games work surprisingly well in VR, and any 3rd person game can be pretty easily ported to VR. Basically the camera AKA the right analog stick or mouse is controlled with your head and that's it. If anyone has ever played with high convergeance (toyification) it's similar to that but WAY FREAKING better. You feel like a God, overlooking your character. LOL and the sense of scale is still there but different. I played quite a few 3rd person games on the GearVR such as Herobound and it's freaking awesome as a 3rd person VR game and many people loved playing 3rd person games as well.
Another thing is that the Rift or Vive can be simply used as a virtual screen with no head tracking and if anyone is familiar with the Sony HMZ (I owned 2 different models) it would be similar to that but WAY bigger FOV.
So at worst I think Nvidia should allow a virtual screen where we can play 3D vision games in 3D and with a wicked FOV. Of course it's not all perfect as the fill ratio is still very low, and I'd imagine the perceivable resoluton would be lower then eve 720p projectors. But, it's a start and next year 4K OLEDs will be available.
