Is there a way with steam to install the game without patch. I want to play the sp bt it's useless right now

If you have the disc copy, you could try to delete the game off steam and reinstall it from your cd.
Once it's done try and go to off line mode before steam wants to update it. Not sure if you can though.
I think the update would start downloading right away...

I don't get steam... I've disabled all my games from auto updating but they do it anyway.......

Steam has a lot of advantages, but sometimes I would rather have a box instead. Usually when I want to play a game with Steam, I have to wait minutes until it starts which is unnaceptable the way I see. You pay for the game and you play when they think you should. Rarely for some reason the game won't start and it stays forever like this: Steam is starting the game.... Sucks!!!!
The problem is that I live in Brazil, so Steam is the only way to get games prior to release date. Boxes takes months to be released here and they usually cost a 20 to 30% more.

Now about this crosshair issue, I really don't believe it will take long to be fixed. I can't imagine that Treyarch and Nvidia aren't aware of this problem, not really. This game has been extensively advertised as 3D ready and it was working flawlessly with 3D Vision, but not anymore, it's totally unplayable with a broken crosshair, so they must be rushing things to fix the crap update they have just released. I can't believe they made a patch that actually freaked up the game that was working 100% prior to this update.
For now I'll be waiting, no way to play in 3D like this. Shame on this crappy update. The question is, who's going to fix this Nvidia or the devs????

That's funny, I thought this game was the 3D game of the moment and that this thread would get crowdy, but I guess I was wrong. No one is really giving a damn about this broken crosshair issue caused by this new crappy Steam update. I guess not many folks are playing COD Black Ops in 3D, cause nobody is complaining. I somehow feel sorry for that and I'm afraid it may take sometime to fix this issue and while it's not fixed, Black Ops is a no go with 3D Vision and that's a bitch.

I want it fixed but after the Bad Company 2 crosshair fiasco I learned not to expect a a quick fix. I am going to play other games until they get it resolved or will re-install the game and not allow it to update if it gets to be too long.

I agree, I've been waiting as well.

They don't even have to fix it, I'd rather have that stupid crosshair off. I ALWAYS use the sights of the gun or the iron sights. It's shocking that you can't disable the crosshair like hardcore mode in single player. Just shocking.

Thank you for that response. It helps me when at least the companies acknowledge the problem. I have high hopes for this next patch!!!

Yes, thanks for the response. Now, lets notice the date that the OP mentioned this issue and compare it to my reply post date. Um. Years? To fix a reticle issue in a 'supported' game? I would suggest both NVidia and Treyarch put a bit more effort into a very popular product. Please. Thanks

P.S. - It doesn't have to be an elegant fix. Just make the reticle/crosshair 2d. Something simple just to appease us poor blokes that just wanna shoot straight on our expensive sli 770's and 120hz monitors with the cool glasses.

OK, so now we know for a fact that neither Treyarch or NVidia are going to fix it. Best bet- Use the Helix mod and fix it yourself. Just find the cursor shader and disable it. There's even an example of a similar fix for CoD: Modern Warfare. http://helixmod.blogspot.com/2012/04/call-of-duty-modern-warfare-3.html
