How-To: Run "The Evil Within" in 3D Vision with DHR fix!
2 / 3
works great Helifax, congrats to you & DHR, this atmosphere looks stuning in 3dvision!!!
But what are those crappy PS3 textures?
Where are HD textures? Such a shame ;) ;)

Are you running SLI by any chance?
SLI is very very troublesome in this game and you will need to put an FPS lock in place:( I had to force it to 30 FPS in 3D Surround although I am capable of driving up to 45 FPS in certain areas. In other areas it dips down to 32FPS. So a lock of 30FPS would ensure that I always maintain 30 FPS with no dips here and there.
If you are not using SLI, then you are OK, but I agree the textures look a bit "dated" know;) Keep in mind though, that this was released in 2014 (2 years ago) and on a hybrid engine of ID-tech 5 (not ID-tech 6 that DOOM uses). It kinda shows, but in the same time if you look at WOLF games or RAGE which also use ID-tech 5 the textures are MUCH MUCH BETTER! (Since they use dynamic streaming).
Speaking of which:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Id_Tech_5#Games_using_id_Tech_5
Apparently, "Dishonored 2" will be using ID-Tech 5 engine as well;) Now I wonder if is OpenGL or a DX11 Hybrid like the Evil Within ^_^
(I really really hope is OpenGL and is like DOOM with an "unlocked" engine ^_^. We really need more OpenGL/Vulkan games just to show that M$ doesn't have the monopoly. Actually, OpenGL can do some stuff that DX11 can only dream of... Some parts are implemented in DX12 though;) Vulkan is Mantle on Steroids ^_^ Sorry, for the side-track)
If not DX11 will have to do as well ^_^ - a bit easier to fix the game as well :) )

@helifax: and I hope Dishonored 2 uses DX11, to avoid frame sequential 3D (it isn't an issue at 60fps, though). Edit: or quad buffered 3D for OpenGL. Besides, it would be less work for you than an OpenGL game, right? Or not? (Not saying that you have to fix it if it's DX11. If it's OpenGL, you are the only one with the necessary skills).
Anyway, I would like a 100% correct 3D mode made by the devs (hahahahahaha!!! ;( ).
I fear for the Anisotropic Filtering :(. It's bad in that engine (max x4, IIRC).

@helifax - yes having competition for M$ is great, by I hope it will be DX11 for a selfish reason - then 3dmigoto will support Top And Bottom mode :) Its just so great to play on projector in almost 1080p...

Yes, Nvidia Inspector is the one that I use to put the FPS lock.
Ideally what we would need is a GPU usage % lock (say.. don't allow the GPU to go over 95%) even if the frame rate is not constant. Sadly, there is no such tool that I know of:(

Have you tried MSI Afterburner? It has "Power target" which, I believe, is exactly what you need. On my system GPUs are very close to each other, so I forced primary one to 94% to reduce it's temp a bit. It does work.
Thanks for the fantastic fix! You are a GOD among us, indeed! :)))

For some bizarre reason that I can't fathom, if I set the HUD to 0.0 depth certain textures render in 2D (lines in the middle of the road, for instance). At the default 0.65 depth, some of the enemy meshes separate so there are black shapes either side of their heads.
I solved this by putting the depth first at 0.3 and then at 0.001 - both of which seemed to fix the above issues. 0.001 renders the HUD at screen depth without causing some textures to turn 2d.
Not certain if this a an EDID/passive thing only but just a heads up (HUD pun intended) for anyone else that experiences it.
