FSX: can´t play without stereoscopic mode turned it off but FSX still in S3D...
  1 / 3
I´ve got a funny problem/trouble:

I can´t play FSX in fullscreen 2D mode anymore...
Even when I disable the 3D Vision feature in the NV control panel FSX still runs in stereoscopic mode...
Don´t know what to try next!

Here´s the full story:

I´m a freelancer VFX-artist and enthusiastic pilot and since I´m producing S3D content I thought why not playing FSX in S3D on my brandnew workstation.
After installing and config done I started for my first flight in stereoscopic view. That worked out pretty fine except for the poor frame rates.

Sure, using Full-HD resolution may was a little bit to optimistic, but I wanted to know how much performance my new workstation provides...
But flying with 4 to 15 frames is even in S3D not very funny ;-)

So I decided to turn of stereo mode an have a look how much frames it will be then.
Since there is no button in the game itself I opend NV control panel and switched to the 3D settings.
Unfortunately the driver didn´t found FSX itself so I added a profil by hand.
In this profil I turned off stereoscopic features [Stereo - Enable: OFF] and restarted FSX but it again activated stereo mode.
Back in control panel I re-checked my setting but everything was still turn OFF.

A little bit confused about "OFF isn´t OFF" I disable the hole 3D Vision feature which made Nvidias stereoscopic player to show S3D-videos side by side - means: no more 3D mode!

But FSX again switch on 3D mode!!! WTF I thought...
Now guess what: even if I plug out the IR, FSX still runs in 3D mode...

Question(s):

- may I got something wrong about the whole stereo fullscreen thingy??
- does this means, I can´t play in 2D mode anymore when I´m using a 3D TFT?
- how can a software ignore that the whole 3D vision feature is turned off?
- is there anybody else out there having troubles playing fullscreen games in 2D?
- why the control panel didn´t find FSX for itselft?
- may my PNY Quadro graphiccard is the problem?

Here is the config of my system:

HexaCore i7-980X @ 3,6 GHz
24 GB DDR3-1600 XMP
Asus P6T7 WS Supercomputer
PNY Quadro CX - [HP LP2275w][ASUS VG236 3D]
2 x 2 TB WD GP-RE4
1 x WD 300 GB VelociRaptor
Win7 x64 Ultimate

Display Driver Ver.: 259.57
DirectX 11
FSX Acceleration with tons of AddOns

Googleing this problem turned out nothing but smattering or things I´ve allready tried. Even here in NV forum I´ve found no matching topics (or maybe I´m blind). 3D Vision FAQ is no help too.

I´m using computers since the eary days of the 80s but it seems, that´s not long enough when it comes that OFF isn´t OFF anymore *fg*

Unfortunatelly I´ve no other games to test on the new workstation.

And since I´ve got a 8core-SLI-machine to play FSX with, this problem with 3D Vision isn´t really a problem more a little pain in the a.. .

MAYBE THERE IS ANOTHER USER HAVING THE SAME TROUBLES.... ?? and hopefully solved it!! I hope so!

just a shot in the dark here but have you disabled 3d from starting when the game starts? NV control panel on the main screen has a toggle to turn on/off 3d when the game starts. Even if (i think) the emmiter is unplugged it will start in 3d mode, the emmiter only syncs the glasses not controls the 3d rendering. Just sounds like thats the problem. Hope that works, good luck, have not had that problem myself.

THX for the fast response!!

Yes, I´ve tried it all and turned everything on/off what´s possible... prior game start, while game was running, after rebooting ... no effect at all!

I´ve thought if the driver doesn´t find a emitter to syncronise the glasses it might prompt me with a message or so but it didn´t ...

1) If not already done. Try toggling CTL T when you're in game mode.
2) Disable FSx Direct10.
3) If 1 & 2 fail, re-install or upgrade to the newer driver.

Side discussion:
3d Vision does not like Add-on stuffs.
When flying an FA18 model, my control stick's pitch up or down goes disabled.

OKAY, CTRL + T did the thing! THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!! /teehee.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':teehee:' />

Didn´t tried to press that combination because I had a NAV-function assigned to that key in FSX... that means, I have to reassign it elsewhere /verymad.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':verymad:' />

Are there any other keys that are predefiend by the driver?

Try the trick in this thread for a lot faster FPS in FSX.
