Good news everyone!
I've run a bunch of tests. I didn't get too scientific about it (just watched fraps), but I've experienced the 8.1 issues first-hand, and would easily be able to spot if they were happening. They're not. I've tested the following games, and they've all had no issues:
Tomb Raider
Brutal Legend
Witcher 2
The following games had performance issues, but from testing on Windows 8 I'm seeing these issues there too. So they're not OS-related.
Trine 2 (40fps)
Arkham Origins (framerate drops a bit while gliding around, not too bad)
Saint's Row IV (lots of framerate drops, but I didn't set the profile correctly)
I'm going to poke at those games to work out why I'm getting performance issues in those and try and remedy them/confirm things are ok, but it's looking to me like Windows 10 should be fine for 3D Vision.

Yes, pardon my results were a bit misleading.
After fiddling around a bit more it turns out that it's my sli not kicking in for some reason.
I get exactly the same result with only on card active, when 3D is enabled, which explain the discrepancies i had. Maybe it's just time to upgrade the old 580's ^.^

I'm not home for another week so I can't test, but I recently tried Trine 2 in 3D on my ROG SWIFT and got about 20FPS from it, I dunno if a driver broke something. I recently sold my SLI 670's and went to a GTX 980. Its a shame because Prototype 2 now has terrible stuttering that I never got with the SLI setup :-([/quote]

Tomb raider 3d performance has been fixed in the latest driver, took them ages, I knew something was wrong with it

"insiders build" <--------<<<<<<
The bug exposes itself and appears when the user will go from windowed mode towards full-screen mode. Numerous games will then crash completely.
