What confuses me is these new Samsung 3D tv's as shown here show that they only have HDMI 1.3. So I don't think anyone is going to lock it to HDMI 1.4 only.
According to the description it will work with "Samsung 3D BD Players". Most likely, it will not work with others. This could be a trap for early adopters but clever marked strategy for Samsung for selling their 3D Players.

Regarding HDMI 1.4:

I think the industry is making the same error, like with blu ray, again. They start with a way too high price. I know its the normal product cycle but with all the 3D movies in 2010 they need to reach the mass marked as fast as possible to profit from the 3D hype. There is no TV under 2000$ and the shutterglasses aren't even included. 3D Players will cost above 200$. And we will mostly pay a few Dollars extra for 3d BDs, added to the already high BD prices. They will never reach the massmarked with this. If you wait you schould be patient wait until prices are in the lower region. Maby 2012 or 2013.

Yes, it's all so f**king confusing. Even to us 3D enthusiasts! I wanted to get set up now for 3D Blu-Ray but it was nearly impossible to know (or buy) what projectors will work. I just went cheap and got a 3D Vision certified PJ. This thread is a good read. :)

@Blacksharkfr.. Nice posting, thanks.

To add to the confusion I read rumors on a German Hifi forum that some Sony guy said that PS3 3D will only work with the new sony 3D TVs coming out soon.

a true 120hz 3D capable display is not available for purchase yet much less a 240

120hz and 240hz are marketing BS for double up frame and giving a smoother effect

Samsung did display a prototype of a 120 dual engine TV a few months back but its not a consumer model or not yet....

I though it was a bandwidth issue and that 1.3 has enough only for 720p 3D and not for 1080p. Thats why monitors use dual-DVI.

Hdmi 1.3 has the bandwidth for stereo 1080p60. The issue was that this resolution did not exist in the hdmi 1.3 specs.
In Hdmi 1.4, only stereo 720p60 and stereo 1080p24 are mandatory. Stereo 1080p60 exists but is optional.
