AMD and 3d Vision
Is it possible to run 3d Vision with an AMD graphics card? So, this xmas I'm getting a new graphics card as a gift, and it is an AMD RX 470. Since all the info I found was very old, I'd like to ask this again to know if there was any update on this. My setup includes a 3d vision ready monitor Acer GN246HL and a 3d vision glass and pyramid v1. I did find this 5 year old post that may give me a way to use some sort of 3D, but no idea if it works with normal 3d vision glasses, would prefer to not have to buy anything else if possible.

Ahhhhhh......No In order to use the emitter and glasses Nvidia GPU drivers must be installed and in use. https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/917445/anyway-to-at-least-test-3d-vision-glasses-with-an-amd-card-/

With an AMD GPU, your only option would be TriDef, but it's my understanding that they filed for bankruptcy and is no longer sold. You might be able to find one of the supported monitors on Craigslist/e-bay and use it, AFAIK, it only looks for the monitor EDID and activates, since it's pre-paid by the manufacturer. Better download it now, if it's still up. Not many games are supported, but is better than nothing. SuperDepth3D might be an option. OF course AMD HD#D should still work in games that have native 3D built in, like Tomb Raider, Trine, Avatar, etc... with any HDMI 1.4 compliant 3D HDTV, Projector or monitor
Make a favor to other 3D fan and sell the monitor
If I had that monitor, I would not part with it. It was originally around $900 at release about 6 years ago. The thing is, it has a glossy screen and looks beautiful. I wish I could find a similar option in a newly released monitor, I'm not a huge fan of matte panels, unless of course you can not control reflections in the room.

I have the S23A700D and love it, but it's just too small. Glossy FTW
