Im finding SSAO makes the engine shine. It makes soft underside shading on world objects and looks much better than the "bokeh filter" in JC2.

W2 engine is crap, 12 fps whatever you do (460 oc-ed), unplayable unless you have 560 or better yet. grow up.

Its scale-able too, so you can run it on older hardware too. I run at about 35-60 at 120hz, max everything, with 2x gtx480s... Not bad I thought considering the visuals are up there with Metro2033, but in a different way I guess.

Hello all,

I just want to say that Witcher 2 2.0 is A.W.E.S.O.M.E: This is how the game should have been released 4 months ago!!!

Since initial release:

- Fixed triple monitors resolution for Surround so we don't have to use custom tools
- Removed white dots from right screen
- Fixed 3D Vision
- Fixed performance (but broken 3D Vision shadows)
- Fixed 3D Vision and performance
- Fixed cutscenes in 3D Vision Surround (they are actually on all 3 screens instead of just the center one...it was driving me crazy)
In the meantime added a lot of content(free DLC and now content in 2.0 patch)

As a result...this game is a masterpiece in 3D Vision Surround!!!!!!
So I couldn't help it and bought 2 copies as gifts for some friends:))

nVidia go and BUG the developers HARD to actually make 3D Vision games LIKE THIS one!!! In games like this you can actually see the full potential of 3D Vision...and well...it's damn AMAZING!!!!
For anyone else out there who didn't buy the game and has 3D Vision Surround, I strongly recommend: GO AND GET IT!!!! The developers should be payed for their time and dedication to PC gaming. The XBOX 360 version will look 1/8 as good as the PC version!!!

(In the future I will add some screenshots to 3Dvisionlive in Surround)

Best Regards,
Helifax

How was 3D "fixed"? The shadows are still completely broken in 3D mode, using Nvidia Battlefield 3 beta driver.

e: It seems to be a fidgety thing. It starts out broken but as soon as I adjust the 3D dongle dial the problem is fixed. Does look gorgeous in 3D indeed.

Okay. I changed my 560Ti to 580. And Witcher2 is still unplayable in 3d on lowest spec (although 1920x1080).
Everything seems ok, but when i rotate camera while moving - it rotates in discrete steps.
I tried to make some changes in mouse settings, but the only smooth-camera-rotation-while-moving options set was with unplayably low sensitivity.
It doesn't look like a performance lag, although this problem happens only in 3D Vision mode.

PS: Is it normal that FRAPS shows 60 hz max in 3D? Shouldn't it show 120 hz instead?

PPS: With motion blur it looks smoother, but - blurred! :-\

1. There is something weird with your system.
2. You don;t need to make any tweaks in the mouse settings for the game to work properly.
3. GTX 580 is able to handle the game @1920x1080 in 3D Vision without any problem.
4. Fraps doesn't show MH but FPS (read a bit and see which is what)
5. 60FPS is correct in 3D.
6. If you want help...post more info about your system..like full spec what OS are you using etc....

I suspect there is a bottleneck somewhere in your system. So until you post your full config no one can help you.

Ok, thank you, Helifax.

Here's my system:
CPU i5 2500
MB Gigabyte P67A-UD3
RAM 4Gb
Video Gigabyte GTX 580 (GV-N580SO-15I) 1.5Gb
Windows 7
Nvidia drivers 285.27

Witcher 2 patched by Steam today.

Anything else could be useful?

Still i can't imagine this could be a performance problem. =\
It looks like a smallest move of camera is a lots more than 1px. About 10px or more.
And when everything is moving and camera isn't smooth - the screen looks chaotic.

PS: sorry about FRAPS' "hz", of course it's fps. )

:D Hmm weird...... Your spec should handle everything very smooth.... Have you tried both on low and ultra specs (without uber sampling). It should work very well..
Hmm...wait on second thought!! I have something to test... I haven't played the game with keyboard and mouse but with an xbox 360 controller... I will check the game and let you know the results.

Best Regards,
Helifax

Edit:
Indeed I can see the problem with keyboard+mouse when changing the camera... I can feel the fixed steps when moving the camera. I lowered the mouse sensitivity all the way down and I can see that camera movement is a little better.

Why? This game's control style lends itself really well to a gamepad; rather like Batman AA. With B:AA I tried mouse and keys but felt playing it with control was far superior. TW2 isnt bad either - its not an RTS nor FPS therefore why not use the controller. You even get feedback!

Lord, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.

I had similar effects in prolog, right after Geralt left tent. I tried to setup my configuration on siege camp view, and every time camera rotated with little steps. After some time i gave up and moved on, and further in game this annoying effect dissapeared.

Apologies in advance as I have not read all 1000+ posts; if my question has already been answered I'd be very grateful for a link!

Context:
- Just purchased an Asus G73SW-XT1; it claims to be "3DTV Play ready/enabled" via its Nvidia GTX 460M
- Have purchased Witcher 2
- Own a Samsung PN64D8000 (on which I've watched a bunch of 3D content through my PS3, the native apps - Vudu, TimeWarner and Comcast)
- I have installed the latest Nvidia drivers; I do not have a "Nvidia Stereoscopic 3D" driver in my control panel (the one that came with my Asus driver CD refused to load) nor do I have a 3DTV Play Activation Utility installed (going to try to install this again tonight)
- In the Nvidia control panel, in one of the tabs (not in front of me), there is a Licenses menu item; in it it states "3DTV Play: System License" (which makes me believe, perhaps wrongly, that 3DTV Play is already "paid up")
- I see two apps to Enable Nvidia Vision and Disable Nvidia Vision in my Programs menu, but I see no option to "Enabled 3D" in either the Nvidia Control Panel or in a stand alone app
- I do not have Nvidia 3D glasses nor an emitter (the laptop itself does not have a 3D screen -- my plan was to use my 64" TV with its glasses and emitter...)

So first, should this be workable? I thought all I'd need to do is "enable" 3D mode on the PC, connect it via HDMI (1.4a) to my 3D TV, launch the Wither 2, and enjoy a kickass game.

Not so much.

If this -should- work, what the heck am I missing?

Thanks! :)
