3D Vision on Acer XB271HU? Yes!
  1 / 4
Yes guys, it works with above average result! My hardware... Acer XB271HU (IPS) monitor (Mfg date: Aug 2016) Geforce GTX1070 (driver 378.78) Nvidia 3D Vision controller pyramid Nvidia 3D Vision 2 glasses Windows 10 The following must be ahered to... 1) Setup Stereoscopic 3D in Nvidia Control Panel (NCD). It detects the monitor as Generic CRT display which is good! It will NOT work if you install other EDID hack to make it behave like other 3D Vision certified monitor (eg. Asus P278Q). Answer the Left/Right Eye and Medical Image tests blindly without using the glasses at this stage. 2) In NCD, run Test Stereoscopic 3D. Set 2560x1440, 120hz, Antialiasing OFF (important!), Check "Apply this refresh rate to all game", Click Apply and Launch Test Application. 3) On monitor OSD, set OD to Off. Set ULMB to ON (ULMB Pulse Width value doesn't seem to matter). Tada! The downside is that there is a bit of ghosting/crosstalk but I find it acceptable and usable (I have a 3D Vision certified Laptop to compare with). The eyes are swapped too. Now, to make 3D Vision work beyond the Sterescopic Test... 1) Desktop is set at 120hz. 2) In NCD, select Manage 3D settings, under Program Settings tab, select the program/game you want and set its Monitor Technology attribute to ULMB (default: Fixed Refresh). Without this step, the monitor will auto switch up to 144hz and ULMB in monitor OCD will not be selectable. I have tried Stereoscopic Player, 3D Vision Photo Viewer and Deadspace 3 with helixmod, they all work! :)

Is it THAT simple? How come no one has tried that until now? So, is it using the normal ULMB for 3D, or is it a different mode according to the monitor OSD? Woah, if this works with the upcoming Asus 4k monitor...

I suppose people give up knowing that this is an IPS monitor. I took the gamble by buying the Controller Pyramid just for testing it. "ULMB" from the monitor OSD. I think it acts as Lightboost or something.

What got me thinking was when I first saw the 3D Vision driver installed itself while I was setting up my new rig. I think it is due to the presence of the GSync module.

In a PM with an Nvidia employee, he stated "Gsync/3DV go hand in hand now, so anything that supports Gsync natively supports 3DV". I took this to mean, that it's treated as a "certified" monitor, that the G-Sync licensing also covered the 3D Vsion licensing. But this was prior to any IPS monitors including G-Sync, no idea if there's any difference in support. But you might contact Nvidia and see why it is supported under generic crt and not 3D Vision. Support under 3D Vision, should get you the eyes in the right order and a profile for the sync delay needed to compensate for any delay between the image leaving the GPU and being displayed. Thanks for making an account and posting. BTW, I assume you know about 3D game fixes by the community?
The eyes are swapped too.
What effect does that have? I never used 3D vision before. Doesn't that impact the 3D effect? Or can you swap the eyes manually to the correct order?

It happened to me when I tried 3D Vision with ULMB instead of Lightboost, or when drivers don't accept the current refresh rate (also with a red message on the screen).

It's one of the options.

Is there any way to correct the eye-swap problem? I'm looking for a new monitor and 3D Vision support, not necessarily official, is a feature I really wanted. Anybody else can give feedback about 3DV on XB27?

Hmm with how cheap I can pick up a 3d vision 2 set up. Would it work on the TN version of this screen https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?_ga=2.157872762.1531024346.1510450934-306791431.1505359023&_gac=1.238667444.1510880775.EAIaIQobChMIlL_evLXE1wIVisVkCh1sYgAMEAAYASAAEgKoSPD_BwE&Item=N82E16824011082

I think the purpose of this thread and the cause of celebration is 3D vision working with IPS panel (something never get done before. 3D vision only works with TN panel supposedly)
