Star Wars :The Old Republic MMO - Will you buy it if Its not 3D compatible ?
[b]Ok guys, Star Wars:The Old Republic MMO is supposed to come out next year around April or May, Me and every other person I know who has played Kotor is getting very exited about this. The big question is "Will it even be 3D compatible ?. So far, I have been watching them like a hawk and haven't heard them say Yes or no about it being 3D compatible. Should I be scared ? Cause if it's not playable in 3D I'm sry but Star Wars or not I wont buy it If I can't play it in 3D..Period.
I know this is a bit extreme but for those of us that have embraced 3D the way I have, maybe you feel the same way.

So here's the question:
If Star wars: The Old Republic MMO is not playable in 3D will you buy it?

I have to think Bioware won't get away without 3d support this time.
About the game: Im a star control2 fan, first and foremost.
If the game resembles star control afterall, even though its set in star wars universe, that'd be really cool, and if its 3d too, that'd act to counterbalance the inherent cliche stuff (for me at least).
If its nothing alike star control, and has no 3d , then good luck bioware, you'll need it. /tongue.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

I'm bioware fanboy, so maybe this is the one and only case where I may play a game without 3d. It depends however if other mmorpgs support 3d, I could go for those instead. If they fix FFXIV, and DC online or Tera work fine in 3d I may skip SWTOR, besides Champions Online works great in 3d and should be f2p soon, together with EQ2 being f2p and working ok too in 3d, I have my MMORPG fix well covered, so either SWTOR works in 3d and then I'll get it, or is it absolutely mindblowing so I'll play it in 2d anyway, or none of those and I'll move to something else.
In any case, if they want to make SWTOR future proof they better do it in 3d. MMORPGs should last for years and 3d is going to be everywhere in a few years, even more with glasses free TVs coming in 2 or 3 years.

Hopefully glasses free tv's won't be cheap enough to buy for atleast 4 years. I want to get my money out of 3d vision glasses before upgrading again. lol

...Ricitiello says the same thing he said 4-5 months ago. By then he said "there are probably dozen 3d TV's in CONUS" ... ( ignored 3d ready monitors , projectors)
Now with mass effect and dragon age is done with x360 as lead platform, Im still very skeptical we'd see that patch in a while. SWTOR can be safely put on 3d ready list, but their consolbuild games... It'd be nice, but, you too know, PR and pitchng ideas isnt the same thing as actually releasing a damn patch*.

I'm sure all EA products in the future will be 3d ready, the problem is those well into their current development cycle like SWTOR, case in point, EA latest medal of honor is a mess in 3d.
I don't care much for glasses free 3d tvs, I'm fine with my current setup and I don't see the glasses as such an inconvenience, either the new TVs give some other benefit apart from being glasses free, or I'll keep my setup.

Back when they first started working on making the game it was closer to the middle of 2008 ,3D wasn't big back then at all. How could Bioware have known to start making there game 3D rdy. I really doubt they were implementing or even thinking about 3D when they first started making Star Wars:The old republic . This and a few other reason makes me believe that it won't be 3D rdy.
Maybe Bioware needs proof that 3D gaming is the future? is that the problem. If so ,then what I think Bioware should do is grab a 3D system and setup a booth some place and have people play some of there games in 3D , see for themselves how people are reacting to the experience.
I don't know, maybe I'm over reacting about this, I just don't under stand there logic in keeping such a tight lip on this subject. In my humble opinion they need to come out, and come out now !. Let everyone know that " yes, your Beloved Star Wars game has been future proofed " , then we can all relax ,sit back and wait for the game to release so we can all experience Star wars the way we all have been wanting to ...in 3D.
Just my opinion, Jeesh .. what did I eat to make me such a cranky pants today. Maybe Star Wars is a touchy subject for me, especially when thinking about it not being 3D compatible.

Sure, they are 3D Ready! So's the TV I bought last year. And what does "3D Ready" mean? It means there might possibly be some way to get S3D to display on it some day in the future. Of course, somebody might find a way to get S3D by bouncing the light off my fingernails so I guess they are 3D Ready as well. The term in meaningless.
That said, BioWare goes for DirectX games as far as I know. That means this game should work with 3D Vision to some extent. How much, I don't know.
I hope 3D Vision works well enough to be playable. If it isn't, I may let the game 'simmer' for awhile to see if it gets support. But, if the game looks good and a lot of my friends are getting into it, I'll go retro <ahem ;> and play in flatland eventually.

Eh, i try not to think about ToR now days. Its way too far off for me to start thinking about.
I hate when companies start the hype-machines way too far in advance. I can only maintain an extreme level of excitement for an upcoming game for so long, ya know..

I hope that they optimize the game for 3d.. However even if they don't, it probably will work as most games from years ago work in 3d....
However, if they optimize it to work perfectly... That will be a big plus!!!
I loved KOTOR... and to a lesser extent KOTOR II...
Bring on the Old Republic!!!
