List of 3D Vision problems
  7 / 12
Another problem that's not listed. Certain projectors such as the BenQ W1070 will not work with certain games using 3DTV Play. These games only see 1280x800P as a viable resolution and will not allow the user to select 720P. This results in a red overlay warning stating the resolution is not 3D compatible (or something to that affect) because 3DTV Play only supports 1920x1080p@24 or 1280x720P@60 for Frame Packed. This does seem to be EDID related and a manufacturer related problem, since you can use an EDID override from a 3DHD TV and the problem is corrected. But it seems to me that Nvidia should be forcing the game into a 720P resolution so that it works as intended. Edit: games with this problem... That crash is without any 3D Vision fix right? Just the vanilla game? Did you by any chance disabled "3D Vision on Start-up option" in the registry? I get crashes like that if I change the default ON state. Not sure if is related or not because I don't SLI + DSR but for SLI + Surround in DX9 I had to always have it ON. Edit: This is Windows 10 of course.

A problem that has manifested itself in a recent driver could/should be quickly addressed via Nvidia's feedback options, especially since you know the last known working driver. Driver regression issues are somewhat easier for them to fix if they can duplicate them quickly. Just ask helifax, I've seen him provide feedback on multiple issues that he has had in the last 6 months that were adressed and fixed because he followed Nvidia's procedures as soon as the problem was first observed. http://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/chat/chat_launch http://surveys.nvidia.com/index.jsp?pi=6e7ea6bb4a02641fa8f07694a40f8ac6 http://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/3141 Or try these numbers US/Canada: 1-800-797-6530 International English: +1-408-486-2000 Or post in the driver feedback thread https://forums.geforce.com/default/board/33/geforce-drivers/

Thanks helifax and D-Man11. Confirmed working again with 359.06 and before. Not working with 362.00, 364.72, 364.96. It definitely looks like a driver bug; according to this, it should work perfectly: https://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/3597/kw/DSR DSR + 3D Vision + SLi = "YES" I have submitted the reports on the links and forum posts. The live chats are useless, and a waste of time if you are anything more knowledgeable than a newbie.

One thing that SHOULD be added to the drivers is the capability to disable video. It´s kind off funny that everyone here that plays with 5.1 or 7.1 audio knows that you kind of need a deticated hdmi for that, so why can´t i disable the video feed from hdmi when we can disable audio from hdmi. like everyone knows sometimes a windows can get stuck on the wrong display, and it not nice when the display that it get´s caught is the one you can´t see as it´s just there because of the audio output. Shurely the video disable could be done, if not real the atleast in some fake method so the windows would be fooled there is no display on the end of certain hdmi and still the audio would go through.

It would be nice to have a confirmation post from Nvidia. I've PMd Manuel and told him that the list had been updated and made current. In the PM, I asked if he could make a post acknowledging that he had re-visited this thread to retrieve the list. I never received a reply. I also posted about it in the driver feedback thread and linked back to it. I've also posted requesting better 3DTV Play support in the Feedback thread again. I know a few people have also passed the thread link on to customer service while working with support. bo3b might still be directly talking to them as well, I'm not sure.

Hi Nvidia, thanks for the reply and interest in further improving Nvidia's 3D Vision 2. 1) I swear, something around the mid-to-late 330s or early 340s drivers has globally increased 3D crosstalk/ghosting (regardless of game or monitor). Anyone here agree? 2) Please allow 3D @ 144 Hz (72 Hz per eye) for 144 Hz monitors. I hardly see a difference in 3D crosstalk between 100 Hz (50 Hz/eye) and 120 Hz 3D (60 Hz/eye) so I don't believe the smaller amount of time the pixels have when strobing at 144 Hz will make it much different. Even if it does, at-least give us the option; we can always set it back to 120 Hz (60 Hz/eye) if we want but at-least give us the option. "Power User" Options That Are A MUST 3) Please allow us to change the timing/syncing/characteristics of the emitter and/or glasses (or whatever). Apparently this can help with crosstalk/ghosting from what I hear. 4) Please allow us to change the timing/syncing/characteristics of the Lightboost/strobing. I believe the strobing characteristics (persistence and strobe length/time or strobe interval time?) can make a big difference to 3D crosstalk/ghosting since it has shown to make big differences in 2D strobing mode (for eg. on some BenQ monitors where you can adjust the ULMB/strobing options of time and persistence or something). NOTE: If having these options available is too risky for users who may mess things up, then AT-LEAST allow adjustment through the registry so that us "power users" can go in and make adjustments.

To improve GPU performance and loading, much important for 4K displays, a HDMI 2.0 update to 3DTV Play could intelligently process (display mode aware) 3D data for SBS, TB, and interlace modes - so that half the GPU/CPU data is NOT thrown away. Recent games like Dark Souls 3 and Rise of the Tomb Raider have surpassed the capabilities of a single 980Ti at 4K resolution, using current technologies. See https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/935077/3d-vision/if-3d-vision-could-output-4k-resolution-60-hz-would-one-get-3d-picture-from-4k-tv-equal-to-1080p-1/2/ for more discussion.

Sad.... I don't think Nvidia really cares about 3D Vision that much or let alone 3D TVPLAY!!! On 3D Vision we might still get some updates/improvements/bug-fixes because it runs on their officialy branded "3D Vision Ready" displays, but 3DTVPlay is a middleware designed to be compatible with any 3D TV... Since 3D on a Screen didn't had the desired effect (see CRAP 3D in cinemas, etc) + bigger costs for PC hardware to run PROPER 3D, a lot of people skipped it... Hence is considered a legacy product and without a plan for any Major update.... At least this is how I see it... We got lucky, they decided to actually add CM mode for DX11 to be honest;) It was their attempt to provide an UNIVERSAL solution to the current FAN base.... Far from ideal, I know but sometimes it works;)

Eh, par for the course. Back in the early days (on the previous forum) we were begging for a lot of these things constantly. They never budged. Though they did do some things they thought up which were good, such as that whole 3DVisionLive website and the ability to get 3D working in a window. And yet they couldn't be bothered to put the screenshot hot key on the dialog box with the rest of the hot keys settings. That isn't dumb, that's flat out bizarre.

The very powerful and the very stupid have one thing in common. Instead of altering their views to fit the facts, they alter the facts to fit their views ... which can be very uncomfortable if you happen to be one of the facts that needs altering.

Today I finally got my NVIDIA 3D VISION 2 glasses working with a BenQ monitor XL2720Z and an EVGA GTX 1080 on Windows 10 with i7 and 16GB RAM. This is a report of my first experience with 3D and what I "enjoyed" the most was the lack of clear information about the requirements to install the emitter to use the glasses. First I was upset because the glasses green light always turned off after 30 seconds and I was thinking that it was a problem. It is not. The glasses when charged are always on and the green light is only to tell you that the battery is charged. Second problem was the VESA cable that a paper with the manual shows as if it should be connected. It doesn't, you just need the USB cable to connect the emitter. The third problem was the monitor connected with an HDMI cable and it must be connected with a DVI cable. The seller told me I should ask help from NVIDIA support and I did it, the first thing the guy told me was "to connect the VESA cable and check"(sic). Then I asked about the HDMI cable and he said it would work just fine, wrong again, only with the DVI cable the NVIDIA assistant for stereoscopic 3D was able to recognise my monitor. I know I have a lot to learn about 3D. I had a good surprise when I saw the first sample photos from NVIDIA installation assistant, but it was a huge disappointment when I checked the game I like to play, which is Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns. The green grass is a black ground and the overall graphics quality is completely lost just to have a silly depth. Maybe I need to do some adjustments, but I don't think any adjustment will remove the bad feeling I had about the quality loss. My most sincere opinion about 3D: it's a crap.

Good news is the 3D Vision community is awesome (we actually developed our own tools and software kits) and we HAVE MADE OUR OWN FIXES for 3D Vision for a HUGE amount of games. See here: http://helixmod.blogspot.co.uk/2013/10/game-list-automatically-updated.html I recommend doing a bit of reading before saying something is crap if it didn't work on your first attempt:) What you do ofc is up to you:) Edit: I do remember when I first bought my 3D Vision kit (6 years ago) that: - VESA cable is not required on Geforce GPU - but is needed for Quadro cards - ALWAYS use Dual Link DVI cable (or later Display Port cable if your monitor has a DP port) - Rest is just the USB emitter - Profit! I don't think ANYTHING CHANGED since then;) regarding the requirements. No wonder NVIDIA support wasn't helpful.. I bet the people who answered your questioned aren't familiar with 3D Vision - and now is more or less a Legacy product.
Dilnei said:Today I finally got my NVIDIA 3D VISION 2 glasses working with a BenQ monitor XL2720Z and an EVGA GTX 1080 on Windows 10 with i7 and 16GB RAM.

Before you say something is crap or not do some research a bit... Don't be a biased Cyclops... read, learn and try to be a 2 eyed Human;)
