PowerDVD not displaying 3d Bluray.
  1 / 4
Just for the sake of documentation, I'll share a 3D Bluray issue I'm having. I can play a 3d bluray movie using powerDVD 10 ultra. The catch is that in 3D mode with the nvidia 3d vision glasses and emitter on and working, I get a good looking 2d image. The menu overlays display in 3d, but all video content is 2d. If I turn off 3D on the nvidia side I get a black screen, but the movie continues to play. With nvidia 3D on, I get a 2d image. I have all the applicable latest patches and drivers (270 nvidia drivers). I've tried toggling SLI on and off, I'm not doing any advanced antialiasing in Nvidia Control Panel, I've tried everything in the cyberlink settings, and 3d works fine in games. Before I downloaded the powerDVD patch, I was getting 3d viewing just fine, but a jittery image.

What display are you using and what BR3D movie are you using?

I have 3D Tv Play and Power DVD 10 Ultra works fine with Bluray Movies. Connected to a HDMI 1.4 3D projector.

Before that I was using 3D Vision connected to a Optoma HD66 3D Ready 120 Hz projector and again 3D Bluray played fine with Power DVD 10 Ultra.

However,
Their has been a couple of Bluray titles that are now checking what Hardware you are using. With these Titles I get Black Screen on both 3D Tv Play and 3D Vision.

They do give you a warning message when the disc starts to play though. It says "You need a 3D Bluray Player to watch this Movie". Or similar. Maybe Power DVD 10 can fix this problem. I think the Movie is running a Java script and checking the Bluray Player the disc is in. It might also be locking out when it finds a PC is being used.

Which particular titles? I have many BR3D titles, I could perhaps test them on my system. Which 3D HDMI1.4 proj are you using that gives this prob?

Hi

We may have an issue with Release 270 drivers and playing Blu-ray 3D movies. Can you try a Releae 265 driver to see if it works?

Having the exact same issue using three VG236H Asus Monitors. Also noticed that PowerDVD 10 does not display an option for "120hz monitor" that everyone seems to be suggesting; it says "nvidia 3d vision ready monitor".

I'm a little reluctant to install another driver as it's kind of a pain to completely reconfigure everything; can anyone confirm a difference with the 265 drivers? If not I'll download them and try it out.

I know I'm not helping much. But oh man, I've been absolutely problem free once I dropped powerDVD

Try arcsoft.

Okay, I switched from 270.51 to 267.24 with 3D Vision 266.21. I'm running two GTX 460s (Superclocked).

Under 270.51 everything sets up fine and the 3D blu-ray plays, but as with the OP all the content is 2d with text menus displaying quasi-3d (no real depth, just only visible with one eye). I got the same result with 3D videos downloaded from nvidia, essentially they display as 2d.

Under 267.24/266.21 3D videos from nvidia display correctly as 3D, but my Asus VG236 monitors aren't supported by PowerDVD using these drivers so I can't test the 3D blu-ray.

Guess I'll switch back to 270.51 for now, if nvidia comes up with a driver that supports my displays that might correctly enable 3D blu-ray let me know and I'll try it out.

Tried arcsoft TotalMedia, same problem.

Edit: I also just manually patched PowerDVD to latest build (2701). No effect, still no 3D display for videos or blu-ray under 270.51. 3D fine in games.

Try disabling SLI. I had to do that the first time I tried to get the 3D Movies working. Once I got it working I enabled SLI again and had no further issues.

Yes, I'm having the same problem, exactly like you. I didn't know was to blem the newer GFX drivers version, I though was something to do with PowerDVD 10 patch updates. I also can't play bluray3D anymore with PowerDVD 10 mark II version 2701, but once I roll back to version 2113 than the problem is gone. It's a problem between the new PowerDVD 10 patch updates and Nvidia drivers newer than 256, I think. Only the main menu and subtitles are displayed in 3D, the movie itself is displayed in 2D with the 3DVision IR emitter light bright green, showing that 3D is on. Awkward!!!!!

Total Media 3 is fine though, playing flawlessy all bluray3D titles I have. I haven't tried Total Media 5 yet, but after reading this thread I'll stay away of it for a while.

Right now I'm rolling back to PDVD 10 version 2113 cause it's better than rolling back drivers. I'm playing new games in 3D like Bullestorm and I need the latest driver cause it has the game's profile. Come on Nvidia, solve this issue, some new bluray3D like Tron don't play well anymore in PowerDVD older versions, it needs to be updated.

I've tried Nvidia 3DVision player and it plays fine side-by-side movies in 3D, windowed and full screen mode. The problem seems to affect only PowerDVD 10. So far after updating patch 2325 and all newer patches for PowerDVD 10 Mark II, 3D no longer works, like I've just explained. If I roll back to PDVD 10 version 2113 and older versions 3D will work just fine for bluray3D titles.

Please figure out a solution for this.
