The Division 2
  1 / 3
Decided to check out the game during it's open beta and see if it might be more fixable than TD1 was. Here's the good news: it seems like the game would be more fixable, from what little time I spent I just saw the standard type of broken effects, probably the most difficult of which being tile lighting. None of that weird, ummmm, blurring/texture corruption stuff from the first game. The bad news: Easy Anti-Cheat. For those that don't know, EAC blocks 3DMigoto making 3D fixes impossible in those games that implement it. Seriously, F*CK EAC.

Does it look acceptable with Helifax's CMU? Or does EAC block even CMU?

I haven't tried, but I thought I remembered Helifax saying he tried and found that his tool got picked up by anti-cheat software. I'll see if I can get it working, since TD1 was actually pretty decent with CM back in the day (up until it stopped working, which could be the case here as well). Edit: Just tried CMU and no dice. Game loads up, but the tool is unable to find the point to patch the separation and convergence values. Same thing with Vermintide 2 (another EAC game). Did not get same error on other, non-EAC games that I tested on, so pretty sure EAC is responsible. I say it again: F*CK EAC.

Sadly, I don't think that will work. That fix is specifically for FC5. If you look at the instructions, it requires editing one of FC5's dll files to work, and unfortunately I don't think that translates to other games (even if you knew which DLL, I'm not certain the hex values would be the same).

Ok, so there might actually be some hope for this game yet. There's a slight chance that it might actually have native 3D support! Long story short, in the game's configuration file, there's a "stereo3d" setting (and a couple others, like stereoeyedist and stereoscreensize). Obviously I tried enabling it, and if you're a smart cookie you'll come to the conclusion it didn't work (otherwise I wouldn't have said there's a slight chance). When enabled, the game forces itself to run in windowed mode (trying to set it to fullscreen via Alt+Enter or in game causes it to revert back, except one time I got it to stick but no 3D) and it's only monoscopic, but when I close the game I very briefly see the Nvidia red text flash on screen for a moment and I'm pretty sure my monitor's 3D is activated (screen looks flickery) while the game is running. I've tried hacking around a bit, such as combining this with the in game "Use DX12 renderer" setting and have had varying results, but nothing substantial yet. Perhaps this setting is disabled in the demo and might work in the full game (a little bit of a pipe dream there, but you never know) or maybe it's just something that's built into the snowdrop engine, kinda like how UE3 had some stereo 3d settings which never worked, but like I said, those settings don't appear in TD1 so it might be something specific for this game. Who knows, but that would definitely be awesome to see native support in a game released in 2019!
What about CM? With Mad Max profile maybe??
CM doesn't work. More specifically, the NVidia green text says CM mode is active, but it's just a flat image. There's probably some sort of post processing effect or AA that's basically messing with the ability for reprojection to work. This is the exact same situation as The Division 1 (although TD1 did have CM work initially, but either a game or driver update broke compatibility) I tried disabling as many settings as I could (both in game and in the configuration ini file), but could never get past that. You're welcome to keep trying if you have the game. I haven't bought it since it's been a lost cause for any form of 3D so far, so I can't test any further, although I might go back to The Division 1 to see if I can get it working there. Edit: Just spent the evening trying my luck again with TD1 to no avail. I even rolled back to the earliest driver I could use for my 1080 Ti's to see if there was any chance a driver version after that broke it, and no dice. At this point I'd wager $$$ that 3D is a lost cause for this series.

What about CM? With Mad Max profile maybe??
CM doesn't work.
It works perfect with Mad Max profile. Tested Yesterday. In Game alt tab to windows and back to game and CM is just perfect. All option to max. Actually CM starts also with DX12 on. No kidding. Separation is good, but white glowing on all reflected surfaces, like water. Not playable. Only one issue - sometimes in some places in game CM will not working - just 2d picture without separation and than back again to 3D mode. But it happens realy rear. Should i take some 3D screenshots in CM?

Great! Did you try with CM Unleashed too? Did you try MadMax profile with The Division 1 too?
Actually CM starts also with DX12 on.
Actually yeah, I did test with the DX12 renderer (like I mentioned in post #7) and got further than I did with the DX11 renderer in terms of CM since it said CM was active and there was a 3D image, but it had the same issues (broken shadows and lighting) as regular 3D, so I assumed it was just regular 3D and the driver was reporting it as CM because it was confused by DX12. I just tried using the Mad Max profile with TD1, and it certainly does help there. Using the standard TD1 profile mostly everything except the HUD is black, but with the MM profile CM mode is working properly (but with broken character shadows, which is strange since CM usually doesn't break effects like shadows).
sometimes in some places in game CM will not working - just 2d picture without separation and than back again to 3D mode. But it happens realy rear.
Yeah, that was the same thing with TD1, happened whenever there was an openable chest. I was able to fix that in TD1 by using 3DMigoto to disable the orange highlighting shader. Unfortunately that won't be possible in TD2 since EAC blocks 3DMigoto. Gonna play around swapping bits from the MM profile with TD1 and see if I can get things working better there. Ideally we want TD1 working on DX11, not DX12 (so I can do the same fix that I mentioned with 3DMigoto, which doesn't work with DX12). In any event good find and thanks!

Ok, so in further testing with TD1, I'm quite certain that my previous assumption is correct: CM is NOT working, it's actually regular 3DVision and because it's DX12 the driver is just reporting it incorrectly. Using the toggle between CM and regular stereo 3D mode produces the exact same image, only difference is in the supposed CM that the convergence buttons don't work (which is why I thought it was CM, but it isn't). There are no telltale halos in the "CM" either. If you want to post up some screenshots, go ahead, but I'd be surprised if you're not seeing what I'm seeing, which is just a regular broken 3D image.
