K6dtx, Nekto2,
Thanks for the (disappointing) news on the HD66.
are either of you familiar with a device called the DVI doctor?
Basically, this device lets one program and remember the EDID of a given display. My idea is:
program DVI doctor using supported display
connect HD66 to DVI doctor and DVI doctor to computer
boot - computer should recognize the projector as said 'supported' display.
The challenge would be to program the DVI doctor....I wonder if there are any brick and mortar stores that will stock the Acer H5360....or it would be even better if one could program the DVI doctor using a PC.

Fresh beta drivers have this error fixed, at least for my CRT (_reboot_ after installing stereo driver, only then run the setup wizard).

Ehm... Drivers swap left-right channel of shutter glasses when using with some DLPs? Charming...
You've written that use CRT mode. There is special "Generic DLP" mode, you should try it to fix swapping, and you will need VESA cable.

Do you see ghosting with a single eye, or only when both eyes are open?

Yeah I tried the latest betas (CD 1.19) but couldn't get them to work, tried all the workarounds here but could only ever get 3d discover.

I can't get generic DLP to work. The drivers keep telling me they're not getting a sync signal even though the VESA cable is connected and 3d is on in the projector settings so not sure what the deal is there.

I can see it with either eye closed and both eyes open.

720p, simply not enough pixels. 1080p is where it's at. As a Custom Home Theater installer I have tried a few of these budget models and they just don't even come close to acceptable in almost evey category.
Unfortunitely, in this product category (as is in most electronics) you get what you pay for. Of course I uinderstand that not everyone can go out and spend $30k+ on a quality projector from the likes of Vidikron, but still.
I understand that 3D Vision is sweet, I use it at the shop quite a bit, but it is not a substitute, nor does it out weigh the importance of a proper res, ESPECIALLY using a bigger screen.
So, between the bigger image and lower pixel count you really lose a lot of the detail that makes PC gaming more attractive than console gaming.
This, however, is my opinion, based on many years of professional experience, but my opinion nevertheless. I also have been spoiled by amazing image quality from high end equipment and once you have been there, you simply won't go back to the bargain stuff.
So, maybe those of you thinking about this should save a few more pennies, those projectors are no joke and they are fairly delicate. Warranties should be considered and the life expectancy of the lamp as well.
Hey guys, I was able to get an HD66 half price with credit card points and it just got here yesterday so here's the deal.
The projector itself is very nice. Bright, hardly ever noticeable rainbow effect. The nvidia drivers, however, are terrible.
First of all it has the same detection problems everyones having with their samsung DLPs so you're stuck on 1.15 till they get that fixed.
Second, since nvidia no longer lets you adjust sync for some stupid reason, you have to wear the glasses upside down like some other projectors. Once you do, it does look really good though, there is some very slight green ghosting around some lights and such but overall the 3d effect is pretty amazing. I just wish I could adjust the sync so I could wear the glasses properly.
The projector runs in generic CRT mode at 1280x720 120hz over HDMI so it's basically just like using a 120hz monitor.
I think it should support checkerboard but I couldn't get that to work. The 3d vision drivers would keep telling me the sync cable wasn't connected or 3d was off on the project but neither was true. I think if I could get this working the glasses would sync properly but obviously at the cost of resolution. Again I don't understand why we can't just adjust the sync.
So the projector is very nice and will give you a nice 3d effect if you're willing to wear the glasses upside down. But nvidia can't get their latest drivers working and won't let you adjust sync.
For the price I paid I'm happy but if you have a choice between this and the Acer I'd go with the Acer since I'm pretty sure they're basically the same projector but that one will play nicer with the drivers. It's unfortunate too, the projector itself is perfect the only issues I have could be easily fixed with better drivers /blarg.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':/' />
In the project setup menu you should have a setting that allows you to "reverse" the glasses so you don't have to wear them upside down anymore. This setting is present in my newly unwrapped Optoma Pro350w.

Hello,
It is 1 month passed since u have HD66. How is the experience? could you solve your 'up side down' glasses issue and can u enjoy yr 3D fully? Could you manage to get appropriate driver? how are colors? is there any flicker and rainbow problems? What is speed of color wheel - 2X or more?
your feedback will help me to take decision for HD66 or Acer H5360.

I just wanted to correct my earlier statement. The setting to reverse eye sync in the optoma menu only applies to DLP Link glasses and has no effect on 3DVision at all.

Yeah I tried the latest betas (CD 1.19) but couldn't get them to work, tried all the workarounds here but could only ever get 3d discover.

It's unfortunate too, the projector itself is perfect the only issues I have could be easily fixed with better drivers
Hello,
It is 1 month passed since u have HD66.
Thanks.

I just wanted to correct my earlier statement. The setting to reverse eye sync in the optoma menu only applies to DLP Link glasses and has no effect on 3DVision at all.
