Blu-Ray playback with Stereoscopic 3D Player
Can it be done? I rented Journey to the Center of the Earth on blu-ray to try out the S3D but can't seem to play it.

I'm quite aware of the S3D technology and how movies use it. Journey to the Center of the Earth has 2D and 3D mode which is the first menu on the disc.

My question is how to get the Stereo 3D player to open it.

Edit:
on blu-ray, not DVD

Hmm. If you understood the technology you would not be asking this question. The blu-ray of Journey uses the type of 3D that requires you to wear coloured lenses. In this case, purple and green I believe. This is not the kind of 3D that nVidia provide with their product which is actually far superior...but totally incompatible with that blu-ray!

If you want to play movies you will need to look out specifically for titles that are field sequential versions of the film. I don't believe any blu-rays exist with this...only DVD.

Hi Spyder,

If your question is can the Stereo Player play back Blu-Ray discs, then the answer is no. It can only play regular DVD's and even its ability to do that is limited as far as my experience with it is concerned. I bought some field sequential dvd's this week and ended up ripping the video files to my hard drive for viewing. Playing them from the DVD resulted in being unable to scan forward or backward, playing the ripped mpg files worked fine and allowed me to drag the slider back and forth to watch any scene I wanted.

jonstatt is quite right, clearly it's you who does not understand, SpyderCanopus. The 3D Stereo player can NEITHER play blu-ray formatted media, nor convert anaglyph 3D content to field sequential. So you're double-screwed. If Journey to the Center of the Earth was field sequential (where it puts two seperate images side-by-side or top-bottom) then you could rip the video off the BD into a format that the Stereo Player could play and you'd be all set.
