I have an iMac late 2012 27" and a nVidia GTX 680MX with 2GB and 8 GB RAM.

Doesn't look like it supports output to a TV either, otherwise you could possibly do 3D TV Play.
I know the Thunderbolt probably has some adapter, but that needs to work under Windows.
I have a Thunderbolt to HDMI adapter and can connect it to my 3D TV.
So, do I have to buy this for 3DTV Play: http://www.amazon.com/NVIDIA-Vision-Wireless-Glasses-Kit/dp/B005XULTG6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1368348955&sr=8-1&keywords=3d+vision
Or do I need only the 3D TV Play software?
No, you don't need the NVidia glasses kit, you'll need to use the glasses that come with your 3D TV.
The 3D TV Play is just software. And there is a 14 day free trial for you to determine if it will work:
http://www.nvidia.com/object/3dtv-play-14day-trial.html
Be sure that the HDMI connector works properly under Windows boot camp, as it's Windows only.
3D TV Play will output side-by-side format, or over-under format that your TV will then turn into 3D.
The NVidia glasses are excellent, but only work with certified monitors and projectors and only DLP TVs.
Hello,
First thanks Bo3b for the information about 3dTV play. I would like to know if i connect a 3d TV to my Imac 27 late 2012 with Hdmi/thunderbolt, set the Tv as a second monitor and then going to youtube and play a 3D content, will it work and be stereoscopic?
I'm trying to know because i need to work on a steroscopic film produced on C4D.
C4D have a function to show a side by side viewport, so you can work directly in stereoscopic.
What i don't know is: do the tv automaticly understand it's 3D. That's why i'm asking about youtube.
I guess if it's working with youtube it'll work with C4D.

Should work, I think. You can try this even without any software, as YouTube allows you to do full screen side-by-side. You might be able to tell your TV to go into 3D mode with that format and I'd expect it to work.
The TV may or may not be able to automatically tell it's 3D, too many variants for me to say.
But, most 3D TVs will allow you set their mode specifically, so I'd expect this to work. Should be free to try it out.
Just to be clear, you would use the TV's 3D glasses.
The 3D TV Play software would only be necessary for playing games in 3D on the TV.

Ok nice to have your opinion on this.
Thank you for your fast answer.
Will definitely post my experience feedback if it's working, but first i have to convince my client stereoscopic is the way to do his film. :-)

Happen to be online, so it's good timing. :->
Try the full screen YouTube experiment, that should be the same as C4D.
Might also be a way to convince the client if they see something nicely done.
Hey guys, I have the same model iMac as the original post. I have been able to run Mass Effect 3 in 3D on an external monitor (Asus VG278H) over a mini display port to dvi. But I'm having a lot of problems with other games as well as the NVIDIA setup wizard for 3D. I can't get 3D to start up on anything else. Someone had recommended that I try using one of these http://www.accellcables.com/B087B-007B.html
I'm considering buying it, but I don't want to be out over $100 if this isn't the solution.
