3D Vision won't launch with games that it should work with
Hi guys,
I've had 3DV for years now and it seems to me that usability is getting worse and worse. Lately, I can't even launch *any* game with 3DV working. My system is a Win 10, GTX 980Ti, i7 5820K, and 16G. The 3D drivers seem to install fine, and the 3D image previews show up nicely. The problems start in the NVidia control panel, where the 3D test pattern works but flickers a lot. Never did that before. I've tried starting Grim Dawn, which used to work flawlessly with 3D. 3D Vision starts (I see the emitter on my monitor -- Asus 28inch, with built-in emitter), and I can "adjust" the depth and convergence, but there is no 3d effect at all. Worst of all, in X3 Albion Prelude (which apparently works great with the Helixmod tweaks), 3DV won't launch at all. Interestingly, the Heaven benchmark utility works flawlessly. Tried, Control+T, tried re-installing the drivers from scratch, tried my old standalone emitter... nothing works.
Does anyone have any suggestions ? Like a lot of you, I find it difficult to flatscreen games after knowing the glory of 3DV !

What model is your Asus monitor and what Windows 10 version are you on? Creator's Update by any chance ?
Do you remember when you started experiencing the issue ? Was it after a Windows Update or a Geforce Driver update ?
I'm assuming you've also tried DDU in Safe Mode ?
Last time I had flickering in the NVCP 3D test it was due to a Vsync option. I think it was Fast-Sync or some other Vsync that was enabled globally...

I'd try DDU and/or a clean install... that might help with the test and Grim Dawn.
The other issue seems like it could be the non-exclusive fullscreen/windowed issue a lot of us have been having with Win10, I don't have either of the games so I can't really test it out... but if there's no way to select Fullscreen then maybe try hitting Alt+Enter?
After that I'd try Chiri's Force Fullscreen thing since it's dx9 but it seldomly works anymore... if it were dx11(or dx8 and under using dgVoodoo2) you could use 3DMigoto to force fullscreen(full_screen=1)... not sure if there are any dx9 wrappers to force fullscreen, usually everyone want's borderless windowed mode...
The problems start in the NVidia control panel, where the 3D test pattern works but flickers a lot.
If it's flickering during the test, that is most likely a refresh rate problem. I would get the test sorted out and working properly, before trying games.
Try setting your desktop to 120Hz.
You might also try unplugging the power to the monitor for a minute to reset it, this used to fix the BenQ monitors with integrated emitters.
Also double check the cable connection at the GPU and monitor.
