Crysis 3 - 3D does not work?
  2 / 8
It better be nexgen graphics after all the hype and Cryteks promise that it will blow everything else away and well melt our Pc's once again or else Pc gamers will send a nuclear missile on Cryteks headquarter damnit haha. But the pic's and videos I have seen it still seems to have paper cardbox trees so WTF is this! Well time will tell but I dont have to much hope as often it's just all hype and no play!

Ok, I've just played about an hour of Crysis 3, I coudn't resist, as I'm still playing Dead Space 3 and haven't finished it yet. Well, the 1st stage of Crysis 3 it's hard to tell anything about the graphics, sure it looks really good with all settings maxed out to Very High and 2X SMAA, 1080p and all that, but you're in a some source of battleship and it's dark and raining like hell, so cound't really pay much attention to details. I cound't play more cause I had to go to work, unfortunately. 3D is exactly the same as Crysis 2, it's not the type of 3D that pleases us 3D Vision users definatelly. It's a piece of crap fake 3D, I don't understand why Crytek won't allow us to have real 3D???? If Crysis 3 had real 3D, it would blow our minds away, cause the Cryengine3 is really awesome!!!!! During the 1st mission I've played there were some parts that really looked photo realistic, the characters face and the ilumination reflecting on the floor, OH mine, it really shines, looks like a motion picture. Real stuff really. The downside is the 3D, it doesn't really add anything to the game. It's the type of 3D that non 3D players will say: 3D is a gimmick, cause if all 3D games were like Crysis, then for sure, 3D would be gimmick. After playing the wonderfull and amazing Dead Space 3, a game that uses a very old engine that any average 2005 PC can run with maximum settings, DX9. How such a simple game can really transform itself thanks to 3D Vision (and Helix), and make old graphics look amazing and realistic, just makes me wonder: How would Crysis 2 and Crysis 3 look like if we had the option for real (FULL DUAL RENDER) 3D, don't you guys wonder that? What I don't understand, is that just like Crysis 2, Crysis 3 also has an option in the 3D options menu, that is always greyed out (not selectable), that says: Stereo 3D - Driver I wonder why there's an option for real 3D, if Crytek doesn't have plans to add it? Even Crysis 2 had the same option, just check it out the 3D options menu. The other 3D options are: Flip Eyes and Stereo Strenght (depth). If you maxed out Crysis 3 3D depth, it would be the same as about 30-40% 3D Vision depth. I woudn't call flat, but it's not the kind of depth I am used to. Anyway, it looks pretty fake, make no mistake. Crytek's 3D is just a little bit better than a 2D-3D convertion feature found in 3DTvs and monitors. Anyway, if it would be possible to play Crysis 3 in real 3D, even if you use default 3D Vision depth (15%), it would be a lot better than Crysis 3 fake 3D set to 100% depth. You'll notice that Crysis 3 3D is just like 2D, but the scenario is pushed back and Prophet's hands holding the gun are close to the screen, very little pop out, that's all. It's not the 3D that enhances graphics at all, it's a flat world, don't fool yourself, there's no volume, nothing realistic, no immersion. It's a 2D+depth, most likely. After playing Dead Space 3 in 3D, I got really DISAPPOINTED playing Crysis 3 in 3D. It's a huge difference, despite the amazing graphics and fantastic gameplay that this game offers. I just like 3D a lot, and it's really sad a game with such potential wasting 3D like that, and I love Crysis series, such a waste!!!! There's still halo around the gun just like Crysis 2. The only 3D issues I've seen, but very minor issue. The major issue is the damn fake 3D. Give us real 3D Crytek for God sake. I'm still using beta drivers 310, haven't updated to the new WHQL 314 drivers, so I felt some inconsistence with the FPS, sometimes, during indoor scenes my FPS would go down to 15-20, but most of the time keeping 40-60fps. All settings maxed out!!!

#1 issue right now (for me) is convergence is locked F5/F6 are nonfunctional. The video settings in Crysis3 were actually able to detect the 3DVision setting - 80% depth setting in NCP - 80% displayed in Crysis3 3D menu. If someone could tell me a good Fraps to Youtube workflow for 16:9 720P 3D video I'd upload one but presently I've never been able to get the correct aspect ratio (even with 3D and aspect tags) and the video to look right.

So how's the score going, 2-2 for real 3d vs fake 3d? This is getting really weird. Screenshots pls, both sides.

Pics would be nice, but really I would have thought it would be obvious even after playing for a few seconds, in Crysis 2 even at 100% separation the contrast between the least and most distant objects was so little it just looks like 2D pushed into the screen.

Crytek never managed to fully implement dual rendering (real3d) without flaws in their engine, although they claim so. I played around with the sdk and the beta of crysis2 with dual rendering and found a lot of issues concerning post effects, aa settings, reflection settings and so on. I think this is why they hide the dual rendering options and lock the stereo cvars. Here a few screens (one with fake3d/post stereo)

Ok someone has posted some pics on 3dvisionlive, and it looks like 2d+depth as expected. Maybe those that got the game want to give this a try: http://www.3dsolutiongaming.com/az_articles_v4/crysis2/crysis2.html It looks like Crytek doesn't want my money, oh well.

Guys, it's fake 3D, it's not real 3D. It's the same 3D that Crysis 2 had, the same ****!!!!!! I've just tried the game and I know how real 3D looks like. It's 2D + depth (Crytek 3D). Totally fake. Why some folks here still keep believing that this game has real 3D. We've played it and we're saying it's fake. Whoever says Crysis 3 is doing real 3D, doesn't no a thing about 3D. It's an amazing game with fantastic graphics, but make no mistake, Crysis 3 doesn't support Stereo 3D from Nvidia drivers, just that crappy fake 3D built in Cryengine 3. BTW, I wasn't aware you could try dual render 3D with Crysis 2, does this only works with the beta version of the game??? I only have the original Crysis 2 installed in Steam. Anyway, if by any chance Crysis 3 had the option for Stereo 3D - Drivers unlocked in the game's menu and if that real 3D we want had several isues with post effects and shadows, lightining and all that, we would be screwed and had to go back playing the fake 3D, cause we're all aware that Helix cannot fix DX11 games, so Crysis 3 is a no go really. Maybe that's why they hide the option for real full dual render 3D. I really haven't thought about that before, only after I read 2eyed64 post.

If they had no intention to provide us with real 3D, why care about leaving that option there? To give us 3D Vision users some hope, maybe???

As far as I know it was not possible in retail version of crysis2 to load the needed console commands, they were removed or blocked. As you can see with the screens I posted above, dual render 3d has its faults in beta cry2, but still looks better than post stereo.
Guys, it's fake 3D, it's not real 3D. It's the same 3D that Crysis 2 had, the same shit!!!!!!
BOO! Can't believe that Crytek have completely ignored the PC voice on this. Did one person say Crysis 2 3d tech was great? It's a damned shame, as re-projection doesn't really add anything but takes away colour and brightness. I guess this is because they have focussed on getting the 3D to work on consoles (and they certainly wont have the power to deal with this title in real 3D). Ah well... I didn't really like the direction the series took with Crysis 2 anyway. Crysis 1 plays different every playthrough, and I love it, crisis 2 replays made some of the enemies movement feel scripted. Still, I would have loved to have seen this new title in 3D. Thanks for confirming this sad news francomg

I'm not shocked. With Vision on 100% depth I can see a (slight) "v" on things such as a handrail so there is some difference but even then the 3D fails the 'side-2-side head movement' test with almost no depth movement. I'll have to boot up C2 and see if it the 3Dvision on it was as dead. I have not bothered trying the Crytek '3D', much like C2 you have to disable 3Dvision to get the gray on the 'feature' removed so its selectable. This likely will only render Crytek's 'fake 2D+depth'. If only F5/F6 were unlocked I might be able to get some pop out.

Can the full game be played through like that? Anyway, pretty crappy it doesn't support full 3D, its utterly pointless. If you disable 3D Vision in the NV control panel, how can you use 3D through Nvidia drivers? Doesn't make sense. This option sounds like the real 3D, as it says Stereo 3D - Drivers, so it's not Crytek fake 3D. That's how I see it, but you can never use it. Have you ever tried this option, and if you did what happens to 3D effects, and if it's not to be used with 3D Vision, than what 3D sofware should we use?

I highly doubt 3D Vision can render it properly. To bypass a games renderer and use 3D vision. Dont start game. Alt cntrl delete[task manager]. Services->Stereo Services->Disable Start game. Wait till in game. Services->stereo services->Renable. I wouldnt hold my breath though. I seriously doubt NVIDIA wouldnt be shouting from the rooftop if it ran well on 3d vision.
