Watching 3d Blu-rays? Most articles are super out of date on this, is it easy?
I've got an Asus VG248QE and an nvidia vision 2 kit. I don't have a blu ray drive yet.
I was wondering how hard or easy is it to watch a 3d Blu-ray. Are there any specific blu-ray drives I should be looking at in particular? Do I need special software? How much does it cost?
Thanks a lot! Most of the articles and references I find for this seem to be incomplete or really old and I don't know if things have changed or not.

There aren't a lot of choices for 3D Blu-ray "disc" playback on the PC. Arcsoft has quit offering their playback software. Leaving only Cyberlink's PowerDVD Ultra and Corel's WinDVD Pro. PowerDVD Ultra has a lot more bells and whistles, whereas WinDVD Pro hasn't changed in the last 3 years.
The only requirement for a Blu-ray drive is that it has a speed of 2x or better. Most all of the ones made now are 12x.
Other than the above mentioned software, the only other way is rip the movie to a hard drive and play it back from a file using stereoscopic playback software such as "Stereoscopic Player".
The Nvida player is licensed from Stereoscopic player and can be updated, so it should also work.
Of course to rip the movie, you need special software to circumvent the DRM so it can be copied such as AnyDVD Hd, which isn't cheap and resides in a legal/illegal grey area.
