I don't have automatic mode. I have 2D to 3D TV conversion Which is horrible, or the normal manual modes. When I press cntrl T the image on the screen jumps to the left slightly and when pressed again the image jumps to the right slightly, but no 3D. 3DTV Play is enabled within the control panel.

If you have enabled 3dtvplay in the control panel then you can select a S3D resolution there also, pick up 720p/60hz and watch if your tv enter automatically in 3D even at your desktop, it should.

Connected via HDMI indeed. I have set the Res at 1080p 24 fps. I am assuming that as long as it is a 3D TV and on the compatible list then its just a case of switching on TV, enabling the 3D TV play in control panel and all should work fine.
If I enable the built in TV 2D to 3D converter then when I hit cntrl T then 3D works fine but with a terrible picture quality. Samsung tech support state that I should not have that function enabled as it's just a gimmick and produces a bad quality image. However, it's the only way that I can get 3D imagery.

You can see the logo of 3dtvplay in the nvidia panel control?
You dont need to force S3D format by pressing the 3D button on your remote, the TV alone will change to 3D mode, just confirm that you are at 1080p/24hz in the resolution of your nvidia panel at desktop and then you should get a message on the tv that inform you that is in 3D mode.
That atleast is what happen on the D series, i bet its the same on the C series of Samsung.
