3D vision using quadro 4000 card displayport No option to switch to 120 HZ !!
1 / 2
I recently purchased a PNY quadro 4000 graphics card. I have a nvidia certified 3D monitor (Asus VG236H) which needs 120hz refresh rate. It works fine when connected to dual link dvi port on the card. But when i connect that monitor to displayport using the included displayport to dvi adaptor I am unable to switch that monitor to 120hz refresh rate. Is that adaptor single link dvi? Do I need a different adaptor to work at 120hz refresh rate? I would really appreciate any information regarding this.

I'm not even sure you are able to pass a 120Hz signal over Display port at the moment. As for the DVI adaptors, i'm pretty sure they are only single link. I could be wrong though.

According to the specifications on the manufacturer website displayport does support 120Hz. Latest version 1.2 of displayport does I guess.
They have the following specification of displayport: Dual DisplayPort (up to 2560 x 1600 @ 60Hz and 1920x1200 @ 120Hz)
I tried to add custom resolution at 120Hz and the test was successful but it shows up as 60Hz when added to the resolution list. Something is wrong with drivers i guess.
I have emailed PNY to confirm if the included adaptor is single or dual link dvi.

Sorry I meant Nvidia supporting Display port over 120Hz. At the moment I think it is only DVI up to full HD 1920x1080 and 720p over HDMI at 120Hz.
I would say Nvidia will support it in the future when it is more readily available.

I just got a reply from PNY, they have confirmed that provided dvi adaptor was only single link. That is why I was unable to switch to 120Hz. So then I guess I will have to get a displayport to dual link dvi adaptor. These adaptors are expensive ($$$) though.

They are expensive but is there anyone out there that can CONFIRM that this DIsplay-Port DVI D DUAL LINK adaptor works? I am facing the same issue when I am trying to hook up a Notebook with only Display Port to a Samsung 120 Hz monitor... Nvidia cant find 120 hz settings but 3D Vision (lets call it Pro with USB driver to emitter ;-)) works but only in 60Hz... There's a Quadro FXxxxM card in there...

You should check the specifications of the display port on the graphics card you have. All display ports are not same. Make sure it support 120Hz output.
