Acer H5360 i bought one

The glasses aren't the problem. The nvidia emitter doubles as a hardware dongle. Without it the stereoscopy drivers just won't give any other choice than anaglyph. When you do have the emitter it does send out a sync signal through the vga port, so if you have the projector connected through vga and for example the e-dimensional dongle then the e-dim glasses will also work. If it's the wireless e-dim's though, the nvidia emitter and e-dim emitter will interfere with one another so that's another problem.

Ok,

So I'll have to buy one pair of Nvidia glasses anyway, but that's not too bad ;-)

I think I'll try those XpanD DLP-link glasses that don't need an emitter so there will be no IR conflicts :-) Nobody really knows too much about them, but somebody has to be the first, right ;)

Has anyone seen any updated information on if the H5360 will actually be sold in the US. I spoke to a sales rep at Acer and he said that he had no info on the pj and that it's possible that there are no plans to market it in the States. I hope this isn't true, but was curious if anyone recalls any instances where a product like this was sold in Europe, but never made it across to the US. Also, in people's experience, has the price been lower when it was released here. It's a shame that Acer has missed the boat on this, since I may have to go ahead and snag an HD66 if I don't hear something soon. I'm sure others have already made that decision.

I have my Acer standing about 1.3 m above the floor so I am a heavy user of the auto keystone since the bottom of my screen is about 70 cm above the floor:

1. How do you manage to get the rear part of the PJ higher than the front part so you can project downwards. Since you can just adjust one of the rear standing feets these feets are not an option to solve this issue. Right now I have my both PJ's rear "feets" standing on cardboard to lift the PJ's rear end. How do you manage this issue?

2. When the auto keystone is used, is it normal that the PJ's menu is not affected by the auto keystone? The blue square around my menu doesn't look straight while the projected image looks straight!?

Exactly what he said.

Seriously, is this PJ even coming to the US? AND, if not, how come nVidia doesn't get on the ball with drivers for the Optoma HD66?

Funny. I was excited about having 2 projectors to choose from, now I basically have zero choice between them as there is no Acer and I'm not sure I want to buy a non-certified 3d projector (HD66).

Mount it upside down, the image will flip around and project down instead of up. Altough I now have mine mounted on the ceiling, initially, I had it sat on a shelf upside down (on foam) and it worked a treat.

I'm thinking about getting one of these. But before I do, I'd like to know more about the 3D Blu Ray side of things. I understand that there is a new hdmi format, 1.4, that some are saying would be necessary to carry a 3D Blu Ray signal. I haven't done a great deal of research as yet, so could I be lazy and ask if anyone here knows anything much about this? Would that necessitate a new 4.1 standard hdmi port in the PC/Laptop? And would new "3D ready" Blu Ray players be required, or would the 3D Blu Ray disks be playable on existing players?

And as regards the connector issues, does anyone have any words of wisdom as regards the best way of connecting in terms of quality? I currently have an old PJ connected from my laptop's hdmi port through a DVI converter and a 5 metre quality DVI cable (lindy) that I'd like to keep using. Would I suffer any quality degradation going from hdmi output, through DVI cable, then from DVI back to hdmi for the Acer's input? Or maybe I should go DVI to VGA? How about refresh rates and so forth, would the choice of connection impact on this?

I would also like to find out how SKY are planning to broadcast 3D TV later this year and ascertain whether this would be watchable through this projector.

Any words of advice warmly welcomed ...

Edit: I should point out that I'm in the UK, as regards the SKY TV reference!

In the Acer’s menu you can choose different 3D modes, i.e. “Nvidia 3D Vision”. If you enable the 3D-mode you will get this annoying “running under 3D condition now…”-message from time to time.

Most users suggest to disable the 3D mode in the PJ's menu. They say there is really no difference between enabled and disabled 3D mode. This doesn't make sense to me. Why would Acer implement an option that really has no effect?

Does anyone know the exact difference between enabled and disabled 3D mode? I really would like to disable it just to get rid of this annoying message but I am afraid of getting a less impressive 3D experience if I disable the 3D mode.

Can anyone light up my dark?

When changing 3D mode in PJ it configures some display options, like RGB color values. Nothing more, you can check out from the PJ's menu.

I am beginning to really think it's not coming to the U.S. It's great though that it's listed on the Acer America site...

I couldn't find it on the Acer America site. It looks like Optoma may run away with the US market with the announcement of the GT720...

Well it's probably the first time you guys are getting something behind us EU guys ;)

But honestly, how do you make this projector work with Nvidia 3D vision with VGA cable? Can't detect the projector as "3D compatible" and can't force the correct resolution into the Nvidia control panel...

Tried with the newest beta drivers, and also with the 1.15 CD drivers... I could get the test image working with the older drivers at some 4:3 resolution @ 120Hz, but nothing else...

I could change to HDMI, but then I'd have to buy a hdmi switch...
