As far as I know, nVidia has not made any official announcements about their stereo drivers.
On the other hand, Zalman support has confirmed to a few of their customers currently using their 3D monitors (like myself) that they will have stereo drivers for their 3D monitors and nVidia cards working on Vista ready for release on this February 22nd (in 2-3 days).
I hope I am wrong here, but I have a feeling the new Vista drivers from Zalman will support only interlace mode, which is what Zalmans 3D monitors use. In any case, we will know for sure in a couple of days, as the new drivers should be ready for download from Zalmans website on Feb 22nd.

Thank you for that clarification Oruq, but what a pity that Nvidia did not concern all its customers who purchased "expensive" graphics cards 8xxx and who are under Vista

Although like you, I am stuck waiting, at least I can understand the necessity of properly-working and tweaked Vista drivers before going Stereo. I wouldn't think it too long, now, before ancilliary concerns are addressed.
Unless, of course, they get too wrapped up in buying even more technology to add to their coffers. Imagine what we AEGIA hardware owners are going through, especially if we bought the thing to support something other than games.
I can tell you I'm NOT purchasing "expensive" graphics solutions or a $1500 Tesla to support PhysX in the MS Robotics Studio.....

Well it's nearly mid day in the uk and still no sign of the Zalman drivers appearing anywhere. So i'm wondering if Zalman have just been filling people full of crap again regarding the release date of the 22nd.
Well suppose we need to give them until the end of the day before we start giving them bad press again.

I was thinking the same, since they also have a subsidiary in South Korea, but I think their main location is in the USA and it is still early morning there, so there is still plenty of time left from the day. I just hope the new drivers will be ready by tomorrow.

the Nvidia stereo driver will be released on 4th March. (PS: I have seen the Beta4 driver for Vista working - so believe me it exists!)

let me clear this up: the new Vista stereo driver is not written by Zalman - Nvidia is still doing this! - Zalman has bought a licence for this driver so a propper connected Zalman monitor will be recognized by the driver and will select the correct stereo output. If you connect any other monitor (even a 3D monitor) which has not licence the stereo output will be limited to anaglyphs. There will be no other outputs available !

there is no way to fix this - in interlace you loose 1/2 of the information for each view - the only workaround for this 'problem' is to enlarge the text.
The correct way to do interlaced 3D is to resize the picture (to 1/2 vertical resolution) using some resize filters (not only discadring every second line), then interlace the two views.
Stereoscopic Player does this correct - StereoPhotoMaker and MyAlbum will support this display method in the next release. This information has been forwarded to Nvidia already - if and when this method will be implemented is unknown by now.

Guys hate to burst your bubble but i wouldn't hold your breath for the 4th of march. Me and several other were told 22nd Feb direct from Zalman, and that never happened. When i phone back after the 22nd, i was told it could be as late as april. i got so fed up of being told different dates,i sent my screen back.
lets look at the history of these delays.
Was supposed to be dec, then 2 dates in jan, then a date in Feb and now a date in march allegedly even though i was told as late as april.
I really hope the driver turns up for you guys but i think nvidia are delaying for a specific reason. We know they have a working driver as they keep showing it off everywhere, but i think maybe nvidia are pulling a fast one to launch something of their own.
I just think the whole nvidia / Zalman thing is all a bit fishy, i'm sure Zalman will get their driver eventually, but not before nvidia is finnished working on what ever it is they have up their sleeve.
I was once a loyal Nvidia customer but i wont be in the future.

does the new stereo driver work on multi-core processors (dual and quad core), or will we need to disable all but one core to use the new driver, like it's the case with the old 3D stereo drivers from nVidia?

Anaglyph only? /thumbsdown.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> That can be done with the iz3d driver for a while now.
Do you know if there will be any other modes at all later?
PS. Thanks for the info

What a farce... a backslap to the face of the whole stereo community.
Yep; time for another RAGErant...
Folks, don't expect page-flipping or dual head support again anytime soon.
Call me cynical, but it is quite obvious that nVidia and Zalman came to an agreement. Zalman pays nVidia to rip out support for all technologies which will be in direct competition to their monitor, and nvidia get a return on their driver where they were getting no money from before.
Of course, nowadays Bribes are known as Lobbying and licensing.
Thanks nVidia! After waiting 2 years for a new driver and buying 8 of your highest end cards over the last 6 years just for stereo support instead of cheaper and faster alternatives, I knew you wouldn't let me down! /thumbsdown.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
Another fine example of a company shooting itself in the foot in the name of short sighted goals and short term profits.

On the other hand, Zalman support has confirmed to a few of their customers currently using their 3D monitors (like myself) that they will have stereo drivers for their 3D monitors and nVidia cards working on Vista ready for release on this February 22nd (in 2-3 days).

Well suppose we need to give them until the end of the day before we start giving them bad press again.

does the new stereo driver work on multi-core processors (dual and quad core), or will we need to disable all but one core to use the new driver, like it's the case with the old 3D stereo drivers from nVidia?
Regards,
Oruq
Let us have it.
Let us have it.
Do you know if there will be any other modes at all later?
PS. Thanks for the info
[quote name='wbloos' date='Feb 29 2008, 11:00 PM']the Nvidia stereo driver will be released on 4th March.
There will be no other outputs available !
greetings

Thanks for the info Werner.
Another fine example of a company shooting itself in the foot in the name of short sighted goals and short term profits.
