Will 3D glasses work with my PS3?
I own a Samsung DLP 3D Ready TV. I'm pretty sure that it is compatible with the Nvidia 3D glasses. I own a PS3 which a ton of 3D content will be coming out on over the next year. Does anyone know if I buy a pair of these Nvidia Glasses if it will work with the PS3/DLP setup i have?

3d-vision is only supported by nvidia which means no consoles.
Check their requirement list: http://www.nvidia.com/object/3d-vision-requirements.html
Samsung have their own glasses for their tv's but be sure to check the compability between the ps3 and your 3d-ready tv before any purchase. As is today even teapots and coffeboilers gets the 3d-ready stamp....

Supported does not mean that it wont work. Run 3d picture viewer, activate 3dvision, switch inputs on TV. Make sure in 3d mode. Run whatever 3d source you have making sure the output is 3d checkerboard unless you have the adapter or a newer DLP.

This only works for Avatar and Invincible tiger on PS3. The new frame packing 3D games won't work with this method.

as long as the display device (TV) allows other devices to sync the 3d via VESA connector, it will work...
however, newer TVs just have an integrated emitter/proprietary glasses solution...so they dont have a VESA 3D SYNC output...

Doesn't that Samsung DLP only accept checkerboard format for 3D? The PS3 doesn't output in the checkerboard format at all.

Any digital device supports checkerboard since it's a frame compatible format (analog can too but analog devices tend to be a bit blurry which cause crosstalk between the pixels : ghosting due to pixels being the wrong colour)

Both PS3 and Xbox 360 support it, it's just that game developers have to implement it directly inside their games.

Reminder : Sony's firmware did not add 3D capability to the PS3, this capability has been there for decades (since games can generate independent two player split screen views actually), all the firmware added was communication with the new 3DTV via hdmi 1.4 spec protocols. Checkerboard is 2D frame compatible and does not need this update to work.

Your sort of correct, but the PS3 games and Blu-ray's do not output in checkerboard (except for the Avatar game). The Motorstorm demo, MLB 2K10, Pain, and the other two wont work with a checkerboard only TV.
