Grand Theft Auto IV Playing again, in anticipation of DLC's
Hi all,
I've just started playing GTA IV for the second time while I wait for the two DLC's to come out at the end of the month (The Lost And Damned & The Ballad Of **** Tony), this time with 3D Vision. I was surprised that the game does not have a profile however it only took a few seconds to tweak the convergence for pop-out.
This game looks absolutely fantastic with 3D Vision.
The game does have a couple issues and I am wondering if anybody here knows of any fixes?
a: Gun Cross-hair at Screen Depth, nVidia Laser Sight can not be enabled. When needing to shoot I have to turn 3D Vision off.
b: Weird Shadow Reflections on Water
c: At certain times of the day in game shadows look weird.
I'm also wondering if the two DLC's will run separately from the main game and if so could issues arise?

Before i did any serious GTA in 3d i'd disable all the shadows. The crosshair is something you have to live with. When you disabled the shadows the game looks fine. Far better than other sandbox games. Amazing in 3d.

Yeh i agree. Amazing in 3d. I turned the shadows off. I also turned the crosshair off and played with my 360 pad as you can do auto lock to shoot people. Not ideal for me, but beats turning the 3d off every time i got ito a gun fight.

Agreed!
Even with shadows off the car still has a basic shadow which works in S3D. I also noticed wierd ghosting effects whenever you are near water but that only happens near water so I think it is acceptable.
Looks great in S3D. Shame about my pc though. I have to switch textures from high to low for it to run above 30fps :(

Lord, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.

I love GTA IV as well. I actually waited in line at midnight to get it when it first cane out on the xbox 360. Then I traded it in when I bought the pc version. I can play with textures on high, but I choose to play on medium because I can't notice the difference and it seems to play more smoothly that way. I might have to fire it up since I'm off tonight. I still hate the ending(s), though. :(

you can get a mod from gtagarage that removes the games crosshair (actually, itt makes it a single tiny white dot in my case, which works very well for aiming 3d as opposed to teh huge white circle crap.
problem is, you wont be able to do ANY multiplayer w/ modded files of any sort.

So basically you downloaded a mod that changed the option for the "Weapon Target" from Complex to Basic for you. (Its in the Display Menu) - Worlds most pointless mod
I was hoping someone might have made some mods that fix the 3D Vision issues (Like the fixes for Oblivion) but this doesn't seem to be the case.
Does anyone know if the two DLC's that come out on the 30th March will use the same executable? If they don't its possible that new problems will arise.
