Doom 3 BFG in 3D - AMAZING
  1 / 2
I didnt really give this game a fair chance at release and I just started playing it again and its amazing in 3D. I havent heard anyone talk of it which I found kind of ironic since everyone was listing it as a game they wanted when mentioning no opengl support. Anywho try it out, its a great game. I really don't think the excellent rating does it justice due to the amount of options available to improve S3D experience 3D TRAILER OFFICIAL(?) Yes, it's also very tweakable as all ID games are. I added such tweaks as moving the position of weapons when they are held. This allowed me add more convergence to the game without breaking the weapons in 3D. I also basically removed the red laser from the game because its too intrusive IMHO.

To make it more accessible, could you post your final 3D specific config settings. I am aware that they would have to be adopted to each monitor but having a list of cvars and values could be useful.

Thanks to everybody using my assembler it warms my heart.
To have a critical piece of code that everyone can enjoy!
What more can you ask for?

Possibly the best stereoscopic 3D fps I've ever played. The 3D is fast and flawless. I really hope they do the magic to Rage as well. It would be awesome.
I really hope they do the magic to Rage as well. It would be awesome.
In this case it isn't magic (i.e. a nasty hack on the graphics library like 3d vision) but an explicit implementation of stereoscopic rendering in the engine itself. Native stereo 3D.

hey guys. somehow news of this release slipped under my radar until now (maybe it was cause of forums being down?) but i just started playing it and its awesome finally doin this game in 3D but i have a pretty major issue that i wanted to see if anyone can help me with. I havent made it very far in the game... but i just got the shotgun and instead of aiming at the center of the screen it aims like... low and kinda to the right. The pistol aims right at the middle of the screen but not the shotgun. Im so used to using the center of the screen to aim (from hipfiring in other games without crosshairs/ironsights) that i cant use it at is it. any idea how i can fix this? also, is there a way to disable the laser sights on the weapons and enable the 3Dvision one instead? i think the laser on the guns just looks really bad...

It uses its own renderer rather then 3d vision so nope. You can reduce the laser sight but thats it. see comments http://3dvision-blog.com/8439-doom-3-bfg-edition-is-out-now-with-stereoscopic-3d-support/#comments

Out of the box 3D didnt impress me. Not much depth and graphics kinda sucks even after facelift. Runs smooth though. I guess you have to unlock conv settings to get better 3D experience. But Im too busy with DMC :D

If you create a cfg file in the Doom3/base directory called D3BFGCONFIG and add the following settings, it looks much better: seta com_allowconsole “1" seta g_fov “100" #seta pm_bobroll “0" #seta pm_bobpitch “0" #seta pm_bobup “0" #seta pm_runroll “0" #seta pm_runpitch “0" #seta pm_runbob “0" #seta pm_walkbob “0" #seta pm_crouchbob “0" seta r_multiSamples “8" seta r_maxAnisotropicFiltering “16" seta stereoRender_interOccularCentimeters “6" seta stereoRender_deGhost “0" seta stereoRender_convergence “25" #seta g_gunY -0.6 #seta g_gunX -0.1 seta com_skipintrovideos 1 If you need to tweek the settings in-game to your own tastes enable the console and type in the word 'stereo' and press tab to bring up the variables and edit them on the fly. Once they have been entered they are saved to your config so you dont have to manually edit them again once you are completely happy.

I think stereoscopic 3D works best in games that show a lot of CLUTTER close to you, and Doom 3 happens to be that kind of claustrophobic game where you always have objects near you, giving you a nice 3D perspective. With games that have a lot of outdoor scenes, like Skyrim, Far Cry 2, etc., the 3D perspective may not be as spectacular.
