Have richydemars gotten it to work? Missed that, which thread? I'm super interested in knowing how he solved it.
About window mode, according to DHR window mode does not work on his setup either, so since the game works for him there must be something else, somehow he does not run in window mode? etc, etc. I dont know.
I might have time for a clean wipe in the coming weeks :D Until then, SOMA will have to collect some dust :/
edit: My SOny uses the same standard as all TVs using HDMI 1.4 so cant be any difference there, maybe if nvidia has some code explicit for the Sony, but that seems unlikely since there are a standard (720p@60hz or 1080px24hz)
Be worth trying to remove that platform update. We call that the "evil-update" as it has caused numerous problems with 3D. You can uninstall it directly.

I'm stuck with 3DTV Play if I do not want move to those crappy shutter glasases and low FOV, bad blacklevels, low contrast monitors :/
Also Nvidia has stated that they will support Vive and Rift im the future, my guess is that they will do that through 3DTV Play to make money out of it (3DTV Play cost money) so in the future we will be even more stuck with it sadly.
The thing is, it works for all other applications than your wrapper, I'm not saying your doing it wrong, but something is different then how all the other applications activate 3D

I really hope Nvidia will not do the VR through 3DTVPlay, as we know it today!!! At least they should update 3DTVPlay from the current state!;)
Yes, I know that is working for other Apps. 3DTVPlay also seems to work for some people. I have yet to find what is the reason behind this discrepancy :(

Any way to add extra or debug logging to get some extra info on systems where it fails?
This is what I did to find the original problem with the evil update. I didn't have, a few other people did, and it would crash in mystery. Added a LOT of debugging lines during that time.
Another possibility might be a TeamViewer session for a failing case.

Lol, you might be changing your tone if we get more games like The Evil Within. Currently, only Displays using Checkerboard or Line-Interleaved can play the game using Compatibility Mode.

D-Man11: Sorry if i do not understand, you use Checkerboard not 3DTV Play?
Checkerboard works for me (As in it switches to 3D), but my HMD will not understand the signal.

I was ribbing helifax.
The Evil Within uses both OpenGL and dx11 to render.
So no one has been able to fix the game.
It will work in compatibility mode, but only interlaced formats.

I already have added all the necessary logs in my wrapper and from the log I got everything works perfectly fine. Is the Nvidia driver that fails to work:
- Basically I hook the OpenGL instructions
- I create a DX9 context. I setup my swapchain and insert the famous Nvidia Header in the textures to know is a 3D Vision context.
- The backbuffer is double the size (for L/R images).
- I handle the rendering of each eye perspective.
- Using the OGL-DX interoop driver I render the L/R images in the DX context. (This will generate the SBS image)
- Last part is UP to the driver to interpret the info I am sending (based on the injected NV Stereo header) and render it properly.
Now I can't add debug info in the nvidia drivers to know why their drivers fail BUUUT I already know what is happening there!!
CyberVillain said that even the 3D Vision Photo viewer doesn't work in WINDOW Mode for him with the HDM.
I explicitly force the DX9 context to be in Window Mode on Windows 7 (on Single GPUs) to avoid an "OUT OF MEMORY" bug that disables 3D Vision!
Because 3DTVPlay doesn't work in Window Mode (unlike 3D Vision) he gets the side-by-side.
The ONLY solution to this that I KNOW of is to...use Windows 10 + drivers where the above bug is fixed :(
@CyberVillain:
I'll make a version of the wrapper, this evening that allows you to set the context as fullscreen. You will get 2 choices:
- Either it will work ^_^
- Or you will get the "OUT OF MEMORY" bug :(
If it will still not work, the only thing I can think of is try to install Windows 10 on a different partition. There is will work.
Keep you posted!

Thanks man, but one thing that does not make sense (I am a developer myself so I know how to think around troubleshooting :D) is that DHR has it working but at the same time he reports that window mode Photo viewer does not work.
