Can some of you that are having no problems at all post a couple screenshots of some games?
I'm having some ghosting issues (even on the nvida test) Anyone else getting some double image ghosting happening? I've tried to read up on it and some say this tech suffers from this currently and others are saying no problems at all.
Being new to 3D gaming im not sure exactly what i should be seeing. I have read that in Left 4 Dead the zombies are popping right out and rain feels like its all around you, stuff flies out at you, etc
I am getting to this to a certain degree but no popping out as much as the 3d test does.
Please post some screenshots so I can get some kind of reference to my setup/hardware. Fun as hell to look at em anyways >:)
Also is depth increase supposed to make it look like you are looking in more and have less popping out of the monitor? From testing and playing around with convergence the best "popping out" occurs to me when depth is at minimum.

btw if u dont feel like posting a screenshot can you guys just give me a bit of a description of what you are seeing?
like:
zombies coming out around 1' in L4D at x depth
yes some ghosting in lighted areas,
I'm not convinced yet my 3d vision is at its potential. I have redone the drivers a couple times (with driver cleaning tool)
Probably gonna wipe vista and redo it since i havent in ages for good measure.
One more question: Does the type of graphics card you have matter? say a 9600 GT vs 260. Obviously the 260 would get better frames but would it change what you see much?

1. Reduce your separation.
2. In the NVIDIA stereo driver advanced settings, there is an option to turn on convergence (AKA the pop-out or how much is in front of the screen setting).
3. When the convergence is running, you can adjust the pop-out.
In the case of Left4Dead, you are only getting a depth experience. You need the convergence on to change this. The Dinosaur picture is almost right. You need to cut down the separation - I can't imagine this setting being comfortable for you.

When you say 1. Reduce your seperation. Do you mean adjust the scroll bar on the IR Emitter less or put the depth bar at less in the control panel.
When you say 2. Do you mean go to keyboard shortcuts in control panel find out how to adjust convergence while playing in a game and adjust that way???
I have tried this method slightly but it never gave it any more pop out effect. (I only tried it with Call Of Duty 2, Which is awesome with 3d Vision) If you could clear this up, I would appreciate it.
I know in these forums you have posted this same thing before, I just couldn't follow it then either.
If you could describe "Click for Click" and also walk us through the settings I'm sure we would greatly appreciate it.
Don't know if this matters, but I am running 64 bit vista and I can't change laser sight. It only works in 32 bit vista!

Try this sequence:
1. Activate advanced features in the NVIDIA control panel.
2. The scroll wheel controls "separation". AKA Your depth budget or how much depth you have available to go inside and outside the screen. Give yourself about an inch to an inch and a half here.
3. CTRL F5, CTRL F6 controls convergence or pop-out. How much of this depth budget do you want inside and outside (in front of) the screen? As you increase it, you should see the separation in the background decrease, while the objects in the front get closer together and then separate again. NVIDIA might do it slightly differently, but the outcome should be a case where you can see an object in the distance, walk towards it, and it should start separated, join together, and then separate again - just as shown in the guide. Practice this on a chair or the corner of a table.
4. Once you have the proportions right, increase or reduce separation until it is comfortable for your eyes.
NVIDIA is working on getting us GeForce 3D Vision samples to test and review games with, so I will be able to be more specific with time. The above instructions should work with just about any game.

I had some success already messing with the "advanced" convergence settings but it was mainly the pop out with 2d backround effect. Now that i know what i'm aiming for i should be able to tweak to optimize both pop out and depth.

that inch and a half, is that what you use to play with ? I may not be understanding but I was under the impression that as my eyes adjust eventually I will be at 100% separation (depth) but so far I cant get any pop out with depth maxed. Can you not adjust convergence to have pop out at 100% separation or is it a trade off: max depth at the cost of pop out so you have to find a balance?

From what I've tried, keep your depth at nearly 100%. I keep mine at 90%. I adjust convergence just befor the gun gets out of focus. When it gets out of focus I notch it down a little bit. In my opinion it doesn't add alot but it makes it a little better.
After using 3d vision since it's release I am starting to grow acustomed to the 3d vision and it's effects for me are starting to diminish. It's still fun, but it's losing it's intensity!!??!! >.<

Are you getting good pop out effects with that much depth? I just tried what you said and compared to having say 15-20% depth and adjusting convergence it really just looks like im looking in with a ton of depth and no popping out at all. in fact it looks like theres a good 2" where the effects stop between the glass and the effect.
And how about double image ghosting with that depth, the more depth the more ghosting i find. Being new to this 3D, that is normal? Or is my hardware possibly defective?
Best 3d pop out so far for me (20% depth, convergence adjusted to just before out of focus)

Tried 90% Depth, and adjusted convergence same way

Ghosting i see at higher depths

Forget the percentage of separation. S-3D isn't a contest on who can get the highest separation levels, and 100% is not the goal.
Figure that all of us have slightly varying distances between our eyes. Different people will be comfortable at different separation levels. Do not try to increase separation thinking that that is what you are supposed to do! It's all about comfort.
As to the diminishing returns, there is some truth here - but keep in mind, most of us see in 3D every day! What is more likely to happen is as you get used to it, you will have difficulty going back to gaming as it was before. At least, that's what it is like for me.

I don't see any more ghosting when I use that depth. However when you are using 15 20 % depth with convergence definatly gives you more pop out effect. This is better for games like left 4 dead. If you are playing a game like Far Cry 2, using 90% depth and convergence has a great effect!!!

Are you viewing on a 22" monitor?
If so, your settings are WAY off.
Here is a settings guide:
http://www.mtbs3d.com/cgi-bin/newsletter.cgi?news_id=44/

Chopper

Don't know if this matters, but I am running 64 bit vista and I can't change laser sight. It only works in 32 bit vista!
Thanks man
Try this sequence:

Chopper
