It's best to run the utility with everything ticked on. I you have any incompatibility problems, then untick the "HOOK" option.

WAIT!

One more important tweak to try.

In your Forceware driver, make sure the VSYNC is OFF for ALL applications.

The triple buffering mixed with VSYNC mixed with stereo causes serious problems.

MAKE SURE VSYNC IS OFF.

I think so.

Found this:
"Triple Buffering has the drawback that it uses more video memory to store graphics information, and thus for graphics cards with less video RAM and/or in games which are more graphically intensive, forcing Triple Buffering on will result in laggier mouse movements and increased texture loading pauses.

So basically for fastest performance in games, disable VSync and disable Triple Buffering. However if you believe the tearing is just too annoying, enable VSync then check to see if the in-game options allow for Triple Buffering. If so, enable it - or use DXTweaker if it's an offline game - and see if it improves performance without generating too much lag and stuttering."

I tested the fps in games:
Battlefield 2
no D3D no AltTab: 11 fps
+ D3D no AltTab: 12 fps
no D3D + AltTab: 38 fps
RACE
no D3D no AltTab: 32 fps
+ D3D no AltTab: 32 fps
no D3D + AltTab: 13 fps
FlatOut 1
no D3D no AltTab: 37 fps
+ D3D no AltTab: 37 fps
no D3D + AltTab: 38 fps
Oblivion
no D3D no AltTab: 21 fps
+ D3D no AltTab: 21 fps
no D3D + AltTab: 21 fps

That's what I get anyway. Others probably get other results.

I don't need anything else of the Rivatuner.
Only need to fix the triple buffering.

it is a seperate utility but not downloadable seperately afaik.

Just install rivatuner, copy out the tool to another dir and then uninstall rivatuner, and you will be left with the utility for your remaining days.

I *think* us upping the utility seperately has licencing issues.

OK, work just fine

And I think this posting I did another place is informative.
But I also have a few questions, anyone that can answer:

-------------------< copy of posting from other board >-------------

I read something about the Nvidia Control Panel not beeing able to
force triple buffering with D3D (becuase MS forbid them to include
that in WHQL drivers).

So I downloaded RivaTuner as this has a tool called D3DOverrider that
can force D3D triple buffering, and started some testing.

1st: Half-Life 2 did not get higher framerate with D3DOverrider, the
original framerates suggest that HL2 allready have some kind of triple
buffering (without my rates should be 75, 37.5 or 18.75 as they are in
other D3D games when vsync is locked).

BUT: I have haunted by some serious stuttering in HL2 each time it
needs to load from harddisk (movment stops for a while). This for some
reason is gone with D3DOverrider installed forcing triple buffering.
Could this mean that D3DOverrider enables the graphic drivers triple
buffering, and that this is in some way better than the HL2 one (as
the stutter is almost gone)?. The framerates seems to be exacly the
same for HL2. I'll keep on testing...

2nd: Other D3D games however gets a real improvement. In XpandRally I
never got above 37.5 (half of 75) becuase max fps without vsync is 72
(not ever reaching 75). But with D3DOverrider I get a framerate of
average 60-70 all the time even with vsync on (no tearing). And it
really looks very very good.

Anyone else have any experience with this? To confirm my findings (or
reject them :-)

PS! Noticed something else. If you don't use the rest of RivaTuner
you can copy the "D3DOverrider" folder to another location and
uninstall RivaTuner. The D3DOverider will still work without RiveTuner
beeing installed and resident. And the you only waste 4MB of RAM with
D3DOverrider running resident!
