My Z650 is only 3DTV Play "certified/ready" and HDMI 2.0 is mentioned nowhere in the manual or on the projector.
I hope he has another Firmware or something i can upgrade to but there are no official firmware or updates released :(
Only the GTX 9XX GPUs have HDMI 2.0 capability, so your 970 is ok.
Can you set you desktop to 1080P@120?
If the rez is not available, try creating a custom resolution in the NVCP.
edit: the projector has only recently released, if it is indeed 3D Vision certified, the inf may not have been added to the drivers yet.

VGA has been abandoned/depreciated because of AACS and HDMI.org demands.
See "Analog Sunset"
I had it up to 96Hz before, but my display wouldn't accept anything higher than that.

Anything lower than HDMI 2.0 does not support the bandwidth needed to pass 1080P at 120Hz from the source to the display. The limiting factor was both the GPU's output via HDMI and the HDMI input of the display's chip set.
The glasses can't be used at 60Hz, they would flicker way too much.
So as far as I Know, they duplicate frames to get from 60 input to 120 displayed.
The same thing they do for movies that are 24hz when shown in 3D.

So the 1080p@120hrz did not work ?
I think allthough it should work it does not work with HDMI. I Believe the resolution at that refreshrate just is not supported in HDMI by NVIDIA. ITS possible but not supported. And there is no device actually lisenced with those specs (1080p@120hz from HDMI) so you don't find compliant edid hack to use. I Also tried getting 3d vision work with my geobox HDMI. As it is HDMI 2 compliciant but the 3d vision just did not work. It works with dual link and dp but no HDMI.

I have 2 very exciting news. The acers are finally arriving tomorrow - and ...
What's going to be really exciting is the fact I have discovered how to run the BenQ 1080ST and 1085ST in 1920x1080 at 120Hz. (it might work with optomas as well but I never tried it)
I can confirm that the 3D Vision works with the benq 1080ST in 1920x1080 @ 120HZ
i have some issues with cryengine but from what I found out everybody else has those issues too :)

60Hz is max
with 1080P@120 custom Resolution the projector writes Input not supported
it was released in december

For 1080p@120Hz it needs 130KHz.
So in my opinion it is not possible.
