Afer reading all the suggestions, I decided to get the GTX770. But just before hitting the buy button then it hits me that the 8XX Maxwell series will arrive next year, just a few months away.
And so the agony began, the SLI GTX285s've been sitting there doing spreadsheets and PDF for the past 4 years (!), a few more months should be a cake. But I do want to play a few games in 3D visions very soon, like Tomb Raider 2013, Borderland 2, Skyrim, IL2 Cliffs of Dover, F1 2012, Nascar 2013, so the question is since the GTX285 are not DX11, can the above games be played in 3D Vision without issues? If they can then I'll wait for a bit until the Maxwell arrives.
Cheers

You've got at least 6 months to wait, not really worth it. Plus when the 800 series hits the pricing on the 700 line will crash and you'll be able to get another 770 used for half price and SLI them if you need the performance.
If you wait for the 800 series, you will just end up waiting for the 900, etc.

Its at least 6 months away [hopefully longer] and nvidia drivers are always a mess for a while.
If your picking up "sli cards" pick up 600. If going for solo card for 700.
If you are buying "sli cards" consider ebay. 4/7 price helps alot.
Nascar 2013- That one strikes me as odd. You sure its 3D compatible? I havent heard it mentioned.
Pulled the trigger on the Gtx770. Thanks both of you for the nudge.
-Nascar 2013: I don't know whether it's compatible with 3D at all and asked on another thread with no answer, nobody on the forum seems to play the game yet.

You got a 3D display right? I think I remember you had an old thread but dont remember.
First things you do...
-Set up 3d vision [Obviously]
-Make sure you know what convergence is and how to use. Nvidia control panel->set up stereoscopic 3d->set keyboard shortcuts-> advanced.
Assign keys. and hold down for a few seconds in game[at most 30] till you see screen shift. If you look at left/right RE5 images it sums up what convergence is. http://helixmod.blogspot.com/2012/06/how-to-unlock-convergence-in-locked.html

Yes I do, been playing stereoscopic games exclusively since Descent. Currently got a DLP Samsung 61in (checkerboard) Tv and just got the benq w1070 which I haven't setup yet, waiting for the gtx 770. Convergence is the key for 3d enjoyment for sure and yes I did always assign the advanced settings. Can't wait to try out all the Helix fixes and yours as well. Thank you for that.

Amazon sent me a promotional code for a copy of Splinter cell blacklist digital deluxe edition, at first I ignored it since shooting is not my type of games and I thought it's an old bargain bin game that they give out for buying the gtx770, turned out it's a new game, nice bonus. I hope it works with 3d vision.

Just found out that blacklist will be 3d vision compatible out of the box, quote from link below:
http://mygaming.co.za/news/hardware/56157-nvidia-shuns-sa-on-splinter-cell-blacklist-bundle.html
"Blacklist will ship on 20 August 2013 and will carry a host of Nvidia-only technologies such as HBAO+, TXAA antialiasing and out-of-the-box support for Nvidia Surround and 3D Vision. Its not part of Nvidia’s The Way Its Meant To be Played campaign, but Nvidia has been providing engineering resources to Ubisoft as part of the deal."
