The grass issue only affects SLI systems, so you wouldn't have noticed it.

@Pirateguybrush Do you think there is a chance Rockstar might want to work on supporting CM then, and not our 3D? I'm worried it might break the 3D we have, which is pretty bloomin splendid I think.

I doubt it. From the way this guy is talking, he doesn't really seem to know what's going on. And if they were only aiming for CM, I can't imagine the game looking as good as it does by chance.

Forget the CM mode, it looks like shit compare to 3Dvision ready as GTA5 is. They (mostly Nvidia I think with the driver) just need to fix mainly the randomly "3D OFF & broken shaders" and a few other issues for Sli and cpu usage. Perf & Cpu usage on i5 is pretty good with single gtx970 OC. No stuttering and no clipping is pretty awesome in this sort of game :)

Thank you for your kind words. It is indeed very sad to have run into such an arbitrary bottleneck when so many of us put so many personal resources into building great systems to be able to enjoy 3D. I'm not a master with software like bo3b and helifax are; is forcing CM not possible at all using helix's method? TriDef guys are having even worse problems, interestingly many also relating to overlays. http://www.tridef.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=6174&start=60 I have just learned that TriDef have reduced in size and are focussing on mobile 3D just to survive. A sad day for 3D Gaming indeed :(

Has anyone filed a nVidia support ticket yet? Again, as this is an officially supported title, we might have some luck.
From the way this guy is talking, he doesn't really seem to know what's going on.
That was also my impression. The game has sold very well on PC, and Rockstar support is surely inundated with issues simply because so many people are playing it now. They're probably right to assume that many issues are due to the complex PC environment rather than their own specific game, and for any extremely busy and uninformed customer support agent it might be statistically smart to politely deflect. On the other hand this particular forum is a very smart group. RAGEdemon's hard data in the previous page is brilliant. Convincing and illuminating. For now, I'm happy the game works as well as it does. I've played 17 hours so far. With an i5 2500 and single 970 I get 30-60 fps in 720p 3D. Not the performance I expected, but the 3D is flawless when working. 3D breaks somewhat often, but also seems to settle in and allow for a long play time once it's good. Clearly buggy, but so far an overall positive experience for me. (I'm forgiving given it released this good just last week.) For now, my advice for dealing with the 3D breaking issue is: 1. Relax 2. Reboot the PC. 3. Try the game again. 4. If 3D breaks, repeat 1-3.

yeah well, I just can't play in 3d. looks great, runs like crap. Playing it in 2d for now, still a great game, as I've always loved GTA games. It's just unplayable when I turn 3d on. going from 100+fps 2d, to less than 20fps 3d is a cruel joke.
Has anyone filed a nVidia support ticket yet? I think that the more people are able to confirm on this specific thread that they wish to play, or are currently attempting to play GTA V in true stereoscopic 3D vision, the better. Better still, is simply linking back to this thread on their Rockstar ticket. If we eventually got sufficient numbers here, it really would make far more sense for a Rockstar rep to create a separate catch-all reference thread here in order to advise on progress and give any tips. I did enquire if someone from Rockstar could kindly drop by. It's worth asking.

Forgive me for not reading all 21 pages of this thread but could someone briefly summarize the state of this game - is it totally unplayable in 3D, or playable with minor issues, or playable but crashes constantly.. etc. Just a very high-level, one-sentence summary. Much appreciated!

It has several issues. Some relate to SLI, some don't. But the biggest issues are poor performance, and a tendency to drop back to 2D mode for no reason, seemingly at random. It's possible Rockstar will patch it, as they're officially supporting 3D.
