What tv to buy for Edid Mod 4k LG 55UH850V for 950 Euros or Oled 55C6V for 2000 Euros?
Can some of you guys help me choose?
Which on should i buy?
- LG 55UH850V for 950 Euros
- Oled 55C6V for 2000 Euros
Time limit to choose is 48 hours because the first one is a special offer that expires next Tuesday
I have read both are compatible with Edid Mod
With OLED TV you must sit near 1,5 meters from TV for good 3D (OLED limitation). With LED - near 1,2 meters (more FOV).
I thought the minimal distance for 3D was the same for the two tv´s. More FOV is great for inmersion, thanks for the info RS422, much appreciated!
I have had both LED and OLED models from LG, and I did NOT notice a difference between 55 in models' FOV. However, I DID notice a difference between 65 in model FOV and 55 in FOV - cheaper 55 in was better. Even though 65 in had bigger screen, the minimum 3D viewing distance (good 3D provided by FPR over entire screen area) is proportionately further from TV than smaller 55 in models (slight difference in FPR design?). Active 3D TVs like Samsung's do not have minimum 3D viewing distances.
I prefer OLED for its improved blacks and little more vibrant color. Also note C6 and E6 models have improved lag times over older models. Which model would you prefer to have 5 years from now - since LG (and everyone else) stopped making 3D TVs?

Thanks for the info Whyme466, I think input lag after several firmwares updates is quite similar in some modes according to rtings.com

I prefer the oled quality over the led no doubt, but with the money i save i can buy 50% of another TV or maybe 50% of 4k proyector in 5 years.
Is the image quality of the OLED worth to pay DOUBLE the price in your opinion Whyme466?

If I had the money (bur I don't), I'll go for OLED just for the improved blacks because Blacks are shitty on LED Tv (like TN panels). Ghosting is not very good with high contrast but I think it's the same with Oled...

I already wrote about it earlier. I have Sony 65" 3D LED TV and LG 55" OLED TV EF950V. With LG I can sit down most close only on 1,5 meters (if is closer, then stereo becomes flat in the left bottom of the screen or on the right top at the screen). With Sony, (which has the bigger screen) - I can sit at distance 1 meter, and at the same time there are no distortions 3D stereo at all! So, my next TV is LG 65" UH850V (I plan)

I have the Oled 55C6V and it does output amazing picture quality, I intially bought an LG 49UH850V but the 3D image was awful, no matter where I sat half the image would not look 3D. It may have been a faulty tv but I got a refund and got an oled 55C6V instead which has been great.
Be aware though that to play games in 3D using 3D vision you will need to be running the game at 4K, keeping a high fps at 4K 3D requires a beastly pc. As far as I'm aware you won't be able to play games in 3D @ 1080p using 3D vision on a 4K tv. There is a work around by using Tridef 3D ignition, disable Tridef 3D then enable 3D vision and you can play some games 1080p but not all games work with Tridef 3D ignition and 3D vision at the same time. Maybe there is a simple work around to play games 1080p using just 3D vision on a 4K tv, if there is then someone please tell me! :)

Currently most of the S3D compatible (natively or with fixes) games can be playable in 3D at 1080p, 1440p or any other resolution below 3840x**** with a 4K 3DTV.
Even if a game is only playable in 3D Compatibility Mod (fake 3D), you can play this game at 1080p with a 4K 3DTV too. For example I'm currently playing Mafia 3 in CM at 1440p with my 4K TV. I'm using 3DMigoto's latest version to enable T&B.
I wrote these in several threads, but anyway once again; to play at lower resolutions:
- Tridef: Best upscaling quality, this must be the first choice for best image quality. It works with any game except DX12, also sometimes compatible with helixmod fixes but you need to disable Tridef's 3D ofcourse. Tridef has a Fake 3D mod named as Power 3D, very similar to 3DV's CM. Also Tridef has SBS and T&B options.
- 3DMigoto for any DX11 game that have a fix or not. 3DMigoto enables SBS or T&B to use with any resolution. SBS is very blurry, T&B is sharper and much better but still worse than Tridef.
- GeDoSaTo to upscale any DX9 game. Most of the DX9 games works at 4K with a decent GPU but if you have weak GPU and want to play older games with a 4K TV this may be your solution.
@Enzel02, if you're tight on money or don't want to spend too much then go with the UH850V, it has a good picture quality, weak blacks but with Local Dimming it's better. Ofcourse OLEDs have the greatest image quality but this does not mean LEDs are terrible. But beware of the Quality Control issues, recent example was Zappologist's experience.
