XP support makes perfect sense.

3d at 60hz (in reality 30hz) is retarded.

I just bought the viewsonic vx2265 and the 3d glasses. I also recently bought a 9800gt+. I assumed that nvidia would support the fastest gaming OS for 3d, but when you assume it makes an ass...

The NO XP SUPPORTED really needs to be in bold when you purchase the 3d. 240$ with rush processing/shipping that arrives today.

So, I am running XP and I just bought your 3d glasses. PLEASE SUPPORT XP. I really don't want to fork out a bunch more cash (that I don't have atm) to buy an OS that is a downgrade for me.

xp >> vista sp1 > vista sp2

I barely get enough fps as it is with my 90nm single core cpu. Should I open the package and install the beta drivers, hoping you will someday support xp? Or should I keep it sealed and ebay off my brand new unopened 3d glasses?

PLEASE SAY YOU MIGHT SUPPORT XP!!!

Nope, but all your games new enough to be supported by Nvidias 3d vision will probably still work. The oldest 3d game I have is 1nsane, an off-road racer. I think it's from 2001?

Hi

We put a lot of steps in place to help make it easy for people to do system level checks to ensure they have the right hardawre and software. We do have a system scan utility which checks everything for you.
Sounds great! Please keep us posted. I know there are plenty of enterprise folks out there that have no other options.

I've now been able to activate 3D Vision on Quadro-based 64-bit XP and Vista systems and wanted to say thanks again for getting this implemented. Looking forward to hearing if others have had success and how they're using 3D Vision. For the record, I needed this to work in a GIS app by ESRI called ArcMap, and using extensions called StereoAnalyst (ERDAS) and PurVIEW (ESRI Canada). I'm sure there are numerous others out there that perform similar photogrammetric functions and I hope the use those as well at some point.
BigLars, any pointers for getting a similar setup running? Have been working with PurVIEW support for a couple months trying to get Stereo to work with a Quadro 3700, Samsung SyncMaster 2233, ArcMap 9.2, XP Pro SP3 with the Sept 09 Quadro XP 3D Vision driver, but with no luck. PurVIEW said others have made it work fine with a similar setup, but desperate to figure out some solutions as I have multiple projects on hold until it can be figured out. Am even considering making a dual boot so I can run Vista if that will help.....

Just get over it and get off the dinosaur you ride on and "UPGRADE " already ,, people like you hold everyone else back with your stubborn and "minor" reasons to cling to an outdated and soon becoming obsolete XP.

Responses like this are why I've been lobbying for a dedicated Quadro 3D Vision forum where these sorts of issues can be worked out in relative peace. As it is now, any mention of XP usually invites an immediate, unrelated flame. I've been working with PurVIEW on setting up almost the exact same configuration as you have (only difference is we're using ArcGIS 9.3 instead of 9.2, most on 64-bit workstations) and have had mixed results as well. We've had better luck using Stereo Analyst for ArcGIS but there are some issues there as well. I've uninstalled PurVIEW till a new version is ready but I can reinstall and see what settings I used previously. One of the problems seems to be license manager, which insists on a license whether you've enabled the PurVIEW or not. Do you have a specialized input device or are you using a standard mouse. We're hoping to use a pen/tablet combo from Wacom but the pen and the stereo window are not getting along (the pen is so 'fast' that it can't be controlled with normal input settings).

Have you tried the OpenGL 190.58 driver available here? The download link is near the bottom of the page. That's what I'm using and it seems more stable/responsive than the 191.00 driver, though that driver works fine, too. I tried to uninstall the stereo driver but was unable to do so. Add/Remove would hang, forcing a hard boot to get rid of the Add/Remove screen. My stereo apps worked fine with the OpenGL driver so the stereo driver in place (190.62, I think) was good enough. Try that display driver and see what you think.

You will also want to enable overlays and force stereo shuttering if you haven't done so already. I know that enabling/disabling certain options can have a big effect on how well quad-buffering apps behave (see this post for an example). There's still a fair amount of trial-and-error involved and that's why I'm such a big fan of forums like this - the ability to compile shared experiences. Let us know what happens. I think 3D Vision and Quadros have a ton of potential and this is probably the best place to develop and realize that potential.

JieMan; thank you for an absolutely useless post. Please understand that for professional applications it is not as simple as just upgrading to a new OS.

BigLars, I played with the setting you suggested, and using the most current XP driver it worked. Did not at first, but when I disabled the Multiscreen option it instantly worked. Seems to work just fine, but time will tell this week when I start working with it. Now I just need to learn how to build the PurVEIW models....

Glad to hear you had some success! We ran into the multi-display issue with an older 32-bit XP Pro machine with a smaller power supply and using an Quadro FX 580. We had to disable multi-monitor and run single display for 3D to work. Newer 64-bit workstations running XP Pro with beefier PSUs and Quadro FX 3700s are having no problems running an additional monitor.

Re: PurVIEW models, do you have an aerial triangulation package to do this or is that info provided by a vendor? We are using LPS Core to generate those models/relationships and create the necessary block (.blk) file. PurVIEW can't currently read that LPS .blk file but it can read .sup files (the SOCET SET format), which LPS can export. That's where we're running into issues though since the LPS export is formatted slightly differently than the .sup files generated by SOCET SET and PurVIEW is having problems reading them. I understand that a fix/patch is in the works.

Hope you find what you need and I'll be curious to hear how it goes. I hope to post more on this myself before too long, though I'll probably start a new thread specifically referencing Quadro-based professional apps.

No clue. I'm totally new to this. I have AT scans from a vender here in British Columbia. The vender says it is the format has has provided to numerous companies that are using PurView, but he does not have the ability to completely format them in house - just done to provincial government specs. Before I went down this road I had a sample sent to PurView for them to conform that it will work, so hoping they are able to follow though and assist with set up as promised.
