Screen Left/Right End Effect
I have been so impressed with the Nvidia 3D vision that I decided to join this forum. Not only is 3D very nice to look at, it's also a more immersive gaming experience.

One small thing has been bothering me.

When viewing 3D, at both left and right sides (where the screen meets the monitor plastic frame),

I see a half-transparent image and also the black monitor frame, overlayed together.
This is understandable because the stereoscopic image is "cut-off" at the left/right side.

My question is .... Is there any way to reduce this effect?

My solution is:
Let's make the 3D image fade to black at the left/right side,
in order to get a smooth transition from 3D image to black plastic monitor frame.
How can I do this?

All you have to do is press Alt + F11 I think. You have 3 choices of edge effect fort the left and right. Then once you choose the one you like hit Alt + F7 to save. I think it's called transition effect. Check the shortcut key in control panel to make sure I told you the right one.

Thanks Richie72!

I just discovered "Enable advanced in-game settings" in "Set Keyboard Shortcuts" in the Nvidia control panel. It shows the "Cycle frustum adjustment" which allows 3 possible screen edges. I also discovered something else ... convergence

Changing the convergence is amazing!

Is there a guide to fine-tuning the convergence?

So far, I have been playing every game at the default convergence and max depth.

But just now I tried setting depth to 50% and set convergence to where my weapon (first person shooter) still appears as one solid object.
If you have any suggestions, please let me know how to optimize convergence/depth.
Thanks Richie72!

Yes Partol, it is great to be able to change the convergence in some games but there isn't any set rule of how high or low it should be. It's what feels comfortable for you and depends how much depth you have too. I like to set mine so there are some 'popout' effects with some objects ie your gun in an FPS but not too much. I love playing Arma2 and I can get some very realistic depth and popout but when I look down the scope/crosshair the 2 image are set very far apart. I have set my G15 keyboard so I can increase or decrease the convergance with 1 button. Like you said, it is amazing how much difference the 3D an look with a little bit of settings change. Enjoy the best thing since colour TV. I love 3D vision and those that slag it off have probably never even tried it.

I have not played Arma2 yet. I am playing Fallout:New Vegas now. I decided that I like the stronger convergence effect, even though close objects appear blurry or double. I holster my weapon, when not in use, to keep it out of sight. Sometimes I close one eye to see something up close.

Nvidia should have added a convergence dial next to the depth dial. People who only use default convergence are missing out on even better 3D.

I am looking for some beautiful games to try out, shooter and non-shooter, anything really.

I found this thread on 3D games.
