Hi,
i believe you may be alittle wrong on the virtual 3d,its based on the same type of 3d as crysis 2 uses, its not the 3d that samsung uses as thats 2d-3d conversion and works a different way.
Virtual 3d uses the z-buffer to parallax-shift the images which creates a virtual 3d, this gives depth that can be changed via convergence ect. Samsungs 2d-3d conversion is a guess based 3d conversion.
taken from tridef website
[quote]Virtual 3-D is another innovative feature of TriDef Ignition that is not available in other commercial stereoscopic game drivers. By default TriDef Ignition is configured to render the same scene twice, with a small viewpoint shift (in the same way most other drivers operate). This produces the best quality results but is very resource intensive and quite inefficient.
The Virtual 3-D mode is faster method of approximating a viewpoint shift based on the principles of image based rendering. There is a trade-off in terms of 3-D image quality, which may be noticable at the edges of objects but it is likely that you will get a significant increase in frame rate if you switch to Virtual 3-D mode.
The Quality parameter is also designed as a means of trading image quality for speed. By reducing the quality the frame rate can be increased.
The performance of TriDef Ignition is dependent on factors such as the graphics card and graphics drivers. The "3-D Texture Copy" allows the user to switch between different methods of passing 3-D textures around the system to assess the impact on performance. The "auto" setting attempts to find the best setting for your system automatically.

I was REALLY looking forward to this game in 3D, now I'm stuck with 2D. Given that FEAR 2 had great 3D, the only explanation is it was done by a different developer. Anyone know about this?

yet another "would've been good" but not playable 3D vision title.
fanboys like to tell us that it's all developers' fault, but what's the point of pushing and boasting 3D gaming tech but not working on getting developers to sail on the same boat?
3d gaming is still (will remain to be as I see it) a niche, developers won't really need to integrate it if nvidia doesn't give them some incentives.

2D surround doesn't work on this game either. There's no config alterations that I've been able to come up with and it sure as hell doesn't support it natively. I'm disgusted, or course. And as a second option, no 3d. I hate console ports. I wish the consoles would just die already.

I'm playing F.E.A.R 3 in 2D as it's totally unplayable in 3D despite all my efforts to make it playable. I'm loving this game, it has very good graphics and an amazing AI, really bright one. I'm playing in Comando level and it's kind tough, not easy at all. I just wish I could play this game with 3Dvision.

I don't have the game but do intend getting it at some stage.
Their has been an update on steam that may help with getting it to work.
In the news story it states
* An "options.cfg" file has been added to the F.E.A.R. 3 install directory for advanced user customization and troubleshooting. Included in this file are options to extend the FOV on narrow aspect ratio displays, reduce or remove motion blur, and to override driver-default settings for full-screen refresh rate, overscan, letterboxing, etc.
It also mentions support being added for triple displays
* Support for wider than 16x9 aspect ratio displays has been added to support users with non-standard display devices and spanned multi-monitor displays like AMD Eyefinity and NVIDIA Surround.
