I have the eDimensional wireless glasses and naturally need the NVIDIA Stereo drivers, which can only be used with the same version of the NVIDIA base drivers. In my case this is 77.77 which works great. However, my windows automatic update is perpetually blowing away my base 77.77 driver, and I'm left with the chore of uninstalling the changed driver, and then reinstalling the 77.77 stuff any time I want to do Stereo. How can I get Windows update to leave my video drivers et al alone?!

Go to, Start>Settings>Control Panel>System Icon, go to Automatic Updates tab, choose turn off and hit Apply, OK. To turn off the service pack 2 security center warning, go to Start>Settings>Control Panel> Security Center and on the left side, choose "Change the way Windows alerts me, take the check out of the box for Automatic updates and click OK.

when it notifies you of an update (i am assuming you have "let me choose when to install" or whatever that option is) and the little yellow icon in the taskbar, select the bottom choice (advanced or custom i think it is called). then find the driver update in the list and de-select it. install any other updates and it will ask you if you want to be reminded about this update in the future-just say no. then it will skip the driver update.
it may try to include the driver again the next time it is updated but as long as you choose custom you can keep it from installing the driver.

gaming -> asus crosshair/amd x2 6000+/2gb corsair xms pro ddr2 800/2x leadtek 8800gts/thermaltake toughpower 700w
On a Dell P-IV 2.4 GH, only when using my preferred video drivers, I
get the "blue screen ...", at the exact point of final shut-off when
the screen should be going black, etc. An easy push of the power
button instantly clears it, and I have no problem with this EXCEPT the
possibility of the repeated Blue Screens causing hardware damage.
Anyone have definitive info or opinions on the this, & thanks !? ...

If its annoying too much, you can try a complete inunstal from safemode, deleting all files, and then reinstall.
If that doesnt work, you could try to repair windows.
If that doesnt work, reformat.
