I have a BenQ xl2420tx 3Dvision 2 monitor and an LG lg47lm6700 3DTV. Why is 3dtv play not available
  1 / 3
Everything I have read implies that monitors with built in 3dvision emitters qualify for free 3dtv play activation when paired with a 3d hdtv. Why then is 3dtv play not available and how do I make it available for my use? I cannot even spend the $40 to buy a 3dtv play key as the company that handles nVidia's store transactions hates my bank card and will not sell to me (they also have some terrible customer service). I have been a long supporter of nV 3d gaming and have been enjoying 3d with nV since at least 2004. I don't think it is too much to ask that my 3dtv be able to be used with my nV GPU hardware in 3d. Does anyone have any solutions or help?

are you setting the TV as your primary display? What driver are you using? Are you using 1920x1080@24 or 1280x720@60 for your resolution?

I am using the newest whql drivers, but I have also tried the newest betas and have reinstalled several times with various driver sets. I am using the 3d resolutions, but instead of 3dtv play active it says HD Bluray-only mode, with a link to buy 3dtv play.

First go to your Device Manager and makes sure the emitter is showing up. If so right-click on it and uninstall it, then rescan for hardware changes. And then try enabling 3D again. If that doesn't work, try unplugging it from the wall, wait a few seconds or so and then plug it back in. Killing the power will do a hard reset and supposedly works for emitter problems with that monitor.

Integrated emitters do not show up in Device manager as far as I know. They are controlled by the monitor. Beta 320 had issues corrupting 3DTV Play, read the driver feedback thread notes. Perhaps remnants are causing problems. Do not install the 3DTV Play trial. Or else when it ends it looks for a serial key and not your emitter. At least it used to weird out like that, may have been fixed.

Ahh ok, the newegg pictures had something that plugged into the USB port, thought that may have linked it. Either way if it isn't listed in the Device Manager somewhere definitely try unplugging it from the wall an replugging it back in, there's a issue with the emitter on that model. And if the emitter isn't showing up then you won't get 3DTV Play.

Alright, I will try messing around with hot plugging my monitor and display to see if that changes anything.

That isn't related to 3dtv play auto-activating for free as it should.

3D 3DTV Play will only activate for free if a 3D Vision certified emitter is detected. So YES it does apply, no emitter detected, no free 3DTV Play

But the emitter works just fine? What does it need to be detected by? Windows device manager? I didn't think any of the 3d emitters showed up in the device manager, and yet people are getting access to 3dtv play (according to old forum posts).

Like I said, I'm pretty sure that it will not show up in your device manager. I'm almost positive it will not. What GPU are you using? What Operating system are you using? EDIT: if you are using Vista, Nvidia dropped support for it several drivers ago Are you connecting to the TV via HDMI? In device manager does the TV show up as the LG or plug and play?

The fix for the reversal causes issues with my normal 3dvision monitor, so I cannot switch back and forth easily. I know 3dtv play works because I have used the trial in the past. I have since reformatted and re-installed windows just in case the trial was mucking something up.

if you used the trial in the past, it will not work again. It stores something in the registry. Non the less, it should enable as long as your display is connected. try hotplugging the TV, it needs to be recognized. too bad TVs do not come with driver installation discs
