If you can´t play FSX with DirectX 10 try to rename the FSX.exe to crysis.exe. Its awesome with this little trick i found out.
Every setting maxed, and its smooth like silk on my machine (280gtx, core i7 920@3.7, win 7)
To get even more fps try to set water effects to low 2.x. Water shader above low seems to make some problems with stereo3d.

This post of yours is singularly most valuable for all S3D FSX players. Thank you thank you thank you.
Now I wish this will work with MS: Combat Flight Sim 3 as well.

Man, I don't know what to say either - this makes me unbelievably happy, this is exactly what I've been waiting for - not only does it run flawlessly, NO MORE BLINKING for me... awesome thanks a lot.

I don't really understand what exactly the trick is : just renaming the exe ?
How can that help the fps ?

Simple really. Label comes with a set of rules. Just like when one regards a woman as mama or as a lady from escort service. /devil.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

I think its because of the Nvidia Stereo3d profile for Crysis DX10 mode. So maybe Nvidia should copy the crysis profile into the FSX profile in a future driver version ;) or give us access to the profiles!

No matter what I do.
My fps in this game only averages 20 or less.
And I got a gtx 480.
All other games running fine with very much at max settings, even in 3d Vision mode.

Wow, um yeah this does NOT work at all. If you have addons then some of them will cease to function if you try this. My 3d convergence also got seriously wacked out when I did this. Anything beyond minimums and it doubled everything in the cockpit. fsx relies on the fsx.cfg file and when you rename the exe to crysis then that fsx.cfg file ceases to function and the sim creates a crysis.cfg file in its place. Even copying the fsx.cfg file to crysis.cfg does not fix the problem with addons choking as some of them are looking for fsx.exe and fsx.cfg and that path is hard coded. My frame rate also was cut in half when I did this. On a base vanilla fsx install this 'might' work but don't try this if you are a heavy simmer with lots of addons. This was tried with 3DVS on my end. YMMV.

Every setting maxed, and its smooth like silk on my machine (280gtx, core i7 920@3.7, win 7)
To get even more fps try to set water effects to low 2.x. Water shader above low seems to make some problems with stereo3d.
Performance increase is massive to DX9 mode.

I was running FSX at single digit and had to shelve it for almost half a decade now and suddenly I can get it run at 60 FPS routinely, in S3D no less.

How can that help the fps ?
Btw, my main problem with fsx is the terrible ghosting. Any ideas how to reduce it ??
