AFAIK, the PG278Q is the only 2560X1440 3D Vision certified monitor and as you stated, appears to be a bad choice according to the many posts on here.
The VG278H and VG278HE are no longer very good choices imo, because of the lack of a Display Port.
This can be a problem because active adapters are needed to go from Display Port to Dual Link DVI.
So for a typical GTX 980ti single GPU setup, you'd need TWO adapters at $60-100 each if you wanted to go with a 3D Vision surround setup in the future.
Another thing to consider is G-Sync, it does not work with 3D Vision. So if you do not play in 2D and will never use it, there's no sense in paying the extra $100 or so that it adds to the cost of the monitor.
Monitors that came out in 2014....
Philips 272G5DYEB supports 3D Vision and has G-Sync. Unfortunately G-Sync monitors only have Display Port, so this can also be a problem for 3D vision surround on a "single" GPU.

Acer XB270H , this comes in a G-Sync and non G-Sync version. Lohan has the non G-Sync version and states that B at the end of the model number denotes non G-Sync (XB270Hb) if it is XB270HA, the a indicates the G-Sync version. The XB270HB has reportedly has Dual Link DVI, Display Port and HDMI connections.

BenQ XL2720Z has Dual Link DVI, Display Port and HDMI and is non G-Sync.

There's probably more that I'm not aware of that released last year or this year.

Thanks D-Man11 for the input.
The Philips has an ugly thick frame and is quite expensive - it costs roughly the same as current ASUS PG278Qs (in Germany).
The Acer with G-Sync also is quite expensive, though not as much as the Philips. The version without G-Sync is significantly cheaper - but does it really incorporate 3D Vision technology? On Acer's own website no hints about 3D Vision are given whatsoever; for neither version. On Amazon 3D is mentioned but it is unclear which version it is that actually is capable of 3D - or if both are.
And since all of these alternatives aren't "cheap", the big question remains: are they any better - in image quality; and losing nothing with regard to ghosting.. - than the ASUS VG278H which I already have?

Is it me or I think Nvidia drivers has something to do with increased ghosting on our monitors ?
I currently use 355.60 and I remember CORRECTLY that previous drivers like 347.88 (or something) had LESS ghosting.
Do you agree ? Try to remember please.
Sorry I posted that right before going to sleep last night. I was thinking Lohan had the 27inch monitor, he has the 24 inch. I think it should still apply. Currently, he's the only poster I've seen using a newer model(other than a swift). But here's his post from the link.
Yesterday I ordered 3 x Acer XB240HB monitors (HB is the version without G-Sync while HA would be the G-Sync version which obviously doesn't have any benefits for me since I will use the monitors exclusively for 3D-gaming).

It seems I found the solution concerning the weird information about the input ports of the Acer Predator XB0-family.
All the XB0-Predator monitors in the 24" - 27" range are available as G-Sync or non-G-Sync.
In a very detailed review for one of the G-Sync monitors I found this
"Like all the other G-Sync monitors on the market today, you are limited to a single DP input connection - no HDMI or DVI options are available"
Indeed every page that I checked (including Acer's official page) lists the non G-Sync versions with Display-Port, DVI and HDMI while for the G-Sync versions only the Display-Port input is listed.
Yah, I have a VG278HE. The only thing that it is missing, is Display Port. Which is only an issue for someone wanting to use 3D Vision surround, because of the added cost of one or two active adapters that would be needed.
Ghosting wise and inversion wise, I'd imagine that the other monitors would be the same.
The only one that seems to have an edge is the BenQ XL2720Z, because of the tethered remote for swapping color profiles on the fly.
""Specially Designed S Switch for Swift Control and Navigation""
The XL2720Z comes with a stylish S Switch. This distinct remote controller comes with three preset buttons so you're able to customize and save your display settings for gaming, work or entertainment purposes. Use the scroll button on the S Switch to quickly navigate and change the OSD settings. It eliminates the tedious process of adjusting your monitor settings. Now switching seamlessly between the presets is as easy as 1-2-3.

As a data point, I'm running 355.82, and on projector I still get zero ghosting. No change from earlier drivers.
It's always possible that they botched the timings somehow with LCD monitors, but that seems unlikely. It's more likely to be something like not letting the monitor warm up.
You can do the direct experiment, and if you think it's an introduced bug it would be worth it. Just take pictures with your phone, through the glasses, so you have photos of the current driver, then roll back to an older one, with no other changes to your system.

Hmm..this made me recall a thread from a long time ago that I had forgot about. I remembered it had something to do about USB lag. It took a little bit, but I found it.
This might be something worth looking into
Hi all,
I can confirm that I have been a able to workaround this issue. I had severe ghosting on the top of the screen on my AMD PHENOM II X4 system<
Here are a few of the things that worked on the port adjacent to the one with the NVIDIA IR emitter:
1. Play a game, and plug in my IPOD for the first time on a new Windows 7 Install: The ghosting will go away for 10 secs as the system scans the IPOD
2. Play a game, alt-tab out, and plug a 4GB USB disk. Start copying a file and alt-tab back in the game: The ghosting will go away until the file is being copied.
3. Play a game with USB headphones: THERE's NO GHOSTING
I'm a programmer by profession, and all the above point to one thing: All computers have different latencies at the USB ports depending on what's plugged in and the system hardware specs. NVIDIA has to sync up the IR emitter taking these latencies into account

Hi guys,
Kamran is 100% correct. I had this exact same issue also on a Phenom II system (890FX chipset). There's an issue with the latency of the USB controller that's causing the top-of the screen only blur.
All I had to do was plug my pyramid into one of my USB3.0 ports as they run off a different controller, problem fully resolved.
If you have this issue, pick-up a USB PCI (PCI-E) add-on board with its own controller for £10-£20 should resolve your issues. May as well grab a USB 3.0 board and take the opportunity to prepare yourself as more USB 3.0 devices pop up.
Cheers
