non-stereoscopic 3d vision with windows media player using WMP to play avi/wmv's in 3d with norm
Hey all - new to these forums - I'll jump right into my question.

I have a gtx-260, and I have been having a lot of fun playing games with nvidia 3d vision, with using regular red/blue 3d glasses (not the stereoscopic ones you buy). I was wondering if anyone knows a way to get avi/wmv's and other movie files to work the same way the games work, in 3d.

I did something to test this issue - In the game crysis, which i have been enjoying in 3d, when you first start the game, it plays a few videos, and then goes to the main menu. You can easily skip those videos by deleting them in the crysis folder, they are (if anyone cares) in the DIR:C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\crysis\Game\Localized\Video\, for steam at least, and in the extension "sfd," which if anyone knows, is a microsft XBOX video file :)

So I did some playing around, got a converter to convert a different video file into an sfd format, and set that as one of the opening movies, and also the background videos - and both work in 3d! even before you start a single/multi-player game!

So I guess I'm assuming 3d vision and other 3d progs will not play a wmv or avi(or whatever) in 3d, because the video card is not rendering anything. But crysis, I'm assuming, renders the video file, hence makes it look 3d.

I guess my question, is I don't think it would be extremely difficult to make a program that slightly renders an avi/wmv fullscreen so that it forces nvidia 3dvision to try its 3d mode, would it be? or does something like this already exsist?

I checked these forums extensively, and couldn't find a question quite like mine. So there it is! Thanks in advance.

videos arn't going to be in 3d but if it is a cutscene in the game using the 3d rendering then yea its going to work. Like in Mass Effect sometimes the movies and animation is in 2d (going between planets and whatnot) and most of the time it is in 3D like in dialog scenes.

If you wanted to capture those 3D scenes into movies you are going to need a way to capture all that data and I dont think it's easy.... My guess is to try to use something like fraps but I just cant see it keeping up with 120hz when it usually cant do 30fps.
