A Way To Quick Toggle Between Extended/Duplicate and 3D Enabled/Disabled?

It seems like you have to restart windows for the Shortcut Keys to take effect, apparently you can only assign shortcut keys for things in 'Start MenuPrograms'.

Tried the updated code TsaebehT, turns the right monitor off but it isn't enabling 3D :( Cheers Drewligarchy but I only want the monitor (TV) to display in 3D when gaming so I don't think that'd work for me

It should be. Make sure there's just a space between Vision & vstlink.exe, 'Vision vstlink.exe' and not a carriage return. Make sure it's just one line in notepad and it doesn't get broken up, like it was in the quote. Not sure why that happened in the quote. [s]@echo off DisplaySwitch.exe /internal "C:Program Files (x86)NVIDIA Corporation3D Vision vstlink.exe" /enable exit[/s] edit: I'll go fix the other quotes as well. Hopefully that was it, sorry about that. :D edit2: Just noticed it was missing the s as well, not sure what botched eveything.

I stumbled across a command that'll wait for whatever you're running to close before it finishes executing the script. [s]@echo off DisplaySwitch.exe /internal "C:Program Files (x86)NVIDIA Corporation3D Vision vstlink.exe" /enable start /WAIT "C:/PathtoGame/Game.exe" DisplaySwitch.exe /clone "C:Program Files (x86)NVIDIA Corporation3D Vision vstlink.exe" /disable exit[/s] Just replace C:/PathtoGame/Game.exe with whatever you want to run, it'll switch displays, enable 3D, run whatever and then when you exit whatever it'll clone displays again, and disable 3D. Sorry about the mix up earlier, I have no idea how those things got botched and I didn't notice it. edit: cleaned them all up now, hopefully that does it! Off to play Tomb Raider! :D

Thanks again TsaebehT but it's still not enabling/disabling 3D. I've checked the 3D vision folder and there's no .exe file entitled 'vstlink.exe', could this be the issue?

So the off works but not the on? Seems odd that turning it off would work and not on. I don't have Windows 8 so I'm not sure if they changed the location or not. And I don't have access to my NVIDIA PC at the moment, so I can't check if it's a hidden system file or not. [quote="crimsonnight"]Thanks!! I can confirm that the 3D Off command works as expected, but 3D on turns the wrong monitor off - I'm guessing because the TV's labelled as '1' in both Nvidia and Windows control panels. I've fiddled around with various settings but can't figure out a way to change this, any ideas?[/quote] As far as my posts, I don't know what the hell is happening to them, I've tried with quote tags to segregate it from the rest of the post, I've tried with code tags as well. Everything looks fine I save them and they still look fine. I leave the page and come back and they're all messed up again, missing the s and splitting the one line up ... BUT for whatever reason post #7 & post #9 remain perfectly intact!? D:

I don't know if you can get away without using the full path on vstlink.exe like you can with DisplaySwitch.exe, might be worth a try though.

Cheers once again, but I'm still not having any luck. Well neither command technically work for 3D on/off, doesn't seem to change the option in Nvidia's control panel. For example, if I run 3don.bat file, and then enable stereoscopic 3D in nvidia's control panel manually, and then run 3doff.bat, both screens have a pink hue until I turn stereoscopic 3D off in nvidia's control panel. This is why I'm guessing the 3D part of the command isn't working at all (that's includes the code from posts 9 and 22). Any ideas?

Hold up, hold up, my bad!! I was using the code from post 11 and not post 9, it now works!!! Awesome thank you so much, I'll now try turning it into a shortcut and the script for certain programs - I run everything through Steam though, is there a way to apply that code into the Steam library?

Cool, so the ones in post #22 don't work, right? It's really annoying that they're getting screwed up when I edit them. And you can only add images as attachments not even a text file. Where you're running everything through steam, you could do it like this: (crosses fingers) @echo off DisplaySwitch.exe /internal "C:\Program Files (x86)\NVIDIA Corporation\3D Vision\nvstlink.exe" /enable "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\Steam.exe" -tenfoot DisplaySwitch.exe /clone "C:\Program Files (x86)\NVIDIA Corporation\3D Vision\nvstlink.exe" /disable exit Just delete -tenfoot if you're not using Big Picture mode. When you exit steam fully it should switch back automatically, if it works like I'm testing it.

Only the code in post 9 seems to work :) Sorry, where do I put that code exactly? And is there a way to do it on a per-game basis? (ie I'd want to enable 3D for Tomb Raider but not say Machinarium?) If not, no problem, I'll just create a second shortcut in my task bar to a 3D, big picture mode version pf Steam :) Just a heads up, assigning the shortcuts to a key binding just seemed to freeze my task bar. I have macro keys on my keyboard though which I've set up to directly launch the .bat files so it's not an issue at all for me personally :)

Sorry, the forum seems to botch any posts I edit. Once I edit a post it completely destroys the formatting and loses the /s ... post #25 should run steam on your TV in 3D and then when you exit steam it'll revert back to 2D and cloned display. The code has to be copy and pasted into notepad and saved as a batch file, say SteamBP.bat. As far as running 2D games once you're already in steam with 3D enabled, the only thing I can suggest is going back to the original toggle but from the looks of it keyboard shortcuts are disabled when steam is running in BPM, at least for notepad and calc. You could have a 2 separate bat files to enable steam in 2D or 3D mode, or maybe one that asks you what you want when starting, I'll have to look into it. If you can run a batch within a batch ... batch inception. :D Steam Big Picture Mode (no 3D switch) [s]@echo off DisplaySwitch.exe /internal start /wait "C:Program Files (x86)SteamSteam.exe" -tenfoot DisplaySwitch.exe /clone exit[/s] Bah! ... next post had to edit. Don't worry, I'm following :) It's all cool, I created a .bat file for 3D BP mode and it works perfectly, the only annoying thing is there doesn't seem to be a way to pin a shortcut/.bat file to the task bar... I was thinking (within the properties of games in steam) there might be a way to execute these sort of commands under 'Set Launch Options' or something - any ideas?

Yeah that is odd that you can't pin them. Just found the perfect fix though! You can pin a folder to the taskbar but that just opens the folder. Not something that I'd want BUT you can ... (in win7) Right-click on your taskbar hover over Toolbars and then select New Toolbar then find the Folder where the bat files are enter it and click Select Folder. Now that folder is part of your taskbar, just click the >> and select what bat you want to run. :D As far as steam and setting launch options that only for game specific things like command line arguements, like steam has -tenfoot for instance.
