Newbie to 3D - couple of questions regarding 3D Play and 3D TV's
Hi all, new to the world of 3D so thought i would ask here ! sorry if this is in the wrong section, mods feel free to move if so. im doing a bit of a project right now. Basicially im building a racing setup. wheel + pedals + shifter and want to sit it in front of a TV .. my current one is only 720p so thought id upgrade to 1080p, and the thought of 3D crossed my mind.. it wont be solely used for racing games though as i will play some other games on it or use it for normal watching of the odd tv show, and streaming starcraft games to watch .. however i thought i could set it up next to my PC and that a bit of 3D gaming now and then could be fun since its not going to cost too much more. Majority of my gaming will be done on my Dell M2412 IPS monitor still though.. this is more of a toy purchase! I wanted to go to a 3D TV as opposed to a monitor due to size restrictions. from what i gather the monitors stop at 30" and i dont think this is going to be big enough for me .. im looking 46 - 55" As i live in New Zealand i'm having a hard time finding any TV's from the nvidia site ( http://www.nvidia.com/object/3dtv-play-system-requirements.html ) which it advise to buy .. one TV here in NZ im liking the look of is the Sony KDL46HX750 is a TV here i quite like the look of, but dont see it listed as supported by nvidia 3d play, however the KDL-40HX750 and KDL-55HX750 are.. the 40" will be too small.. and im honestly not sure if 55" will be too big. realistically i will placing the racing pod within a few metres of the TV. Does anyone know if/why not the Sony KDL46HX750 is/isn't supported? as far as i can tell there arent any differences between it and its bigger/smaller counterpart, both being HX750 series. Also i notice this TV is 200hz .. this isnt going to help overcome the HDMI limitation of not being able to display 60hz to each eye at 1080p right, as this is a HDMI bandwith limitation? My video card is only a gtx465, so i will look into purchasing a 700 series card when they come out (in march?) as i understand running 3D will halve my framerates, and i dont see my baby gtx465 keeping up with this ! Also ... active vs passive, from what i can understand active is higher resolution, lower brightness, but can cause more eye-strain and more expensive glasses in its simplist form of explanation? Thanks very much all :-)

As long as the TV is 3D capable and HDMI 1.4 compliant, you can get it added to the supported list by following the instructions at http://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/2774 3D HDTVs are generally added by users and not manufacturers, hence the exclusion. Simply put....no one has submitted it yet
