S-3D Gaming History, Part III (Nearly 100% About NVIDA's GeForce 3D Vision)
Hi Guys,

We finally completed part III of our history of stereoscopic 3D gaming. This time, it's nearly 100% about NVIDIA's GeForce 3D Vision.

I take it if we download the video it should be watchable using the nVidia player?

Enjoyed the series. Thanks. :)

Yes, the video file is in a side by side format originally.

No it doesnt work as a 3D movie. It runs with sound but it plays like it plays on the website, with 2 screens side by side. Am I doing anything wrong?

I would like to watch more things in 3D as I only have the clips from the nVidia site.

Ok. When you get the video, you see it as a side by side, right? That's a good sign.

You need to play in something like Stereoscopic 3D Player, choose "side by side", with "left image first". Then it should work. It's in 16:9 aspect ratio.

It just occurred to me. If you are using an S-3D player like the one that comes with your NVIDIA glasses, you need to play in full screen mode (ALT-ENTER), and if necessary, hit CTRL-T. You can't play S-3D videos in windowed mode.

That did the trick!

Great stuff. Kudos to you filming in 3D. It must be an easy (bar uploading and drive space) option for people to offer the two options - stereo and mono.

Do you know where I could find more movie/vids in S3D?

It's not easy to record in 3D at all. In this case, I use a Minoru 3D webcam, but once I have the footage, I need to separate the left/right views, apply the graphics at just the right spots in each video stream, re-encode in the correct format, etc. As better S-3D editing tools become available, this will improve. I also work with uncompressed footage where I can to avoid as much quality loss as possible.

I'm glad you liked it!

YouTube has a lot of 3D stuff now. Look for the YT3D:Enable tag.
