ALICE MADNESS RETURNS 3d vision

Will more than likely have to wait for a patch...

But come to think of it, how many other games that use fluid PhysX are seen in Stereoscope?

Problem solved at least in my case. Only thing I did was to re-enable AA in the game menu back to how it was at default. I receive the red warning once in the menu screen but not multiple times anymore. I'm relieved though cause freezing is completely gone.

I'm glad you were able to get it to work. Still no joy for me. The game looks amazing in 3D but the frequent lock ups and crashes in 3D mode forces me to play in 2D mode. :(

I waited until Amazon had this on sale for $29.99, and picked it up not really expecting all that much. I did like the first Alice a lot, but for some reason, I didn't expect this one to live up to the first. Boy, was I wrong!! This game is a blast to play, and it is DEFINITELY the game to showcase your 3D! It truly is amazing in 3d!!! I can't believe how good it looks and plays.

I have a similar issue, freezing at the loading screen with the oscillating key chain but I do not get any video memory warnings as Guz receives. If I reload the game multiple times, it is hit or miss if the game will load in 3D. Even if I do play the game, it will crash or lock up randomly. If I don't use 3D, the game starts normally and plays fine. I've tried all the flavors of PhysX and lower settings, SLI disabled, with no change. Again, with 3D disabled, no problems, game runs great. As far as my system goes, it has more than enough power.
EVGA 570 SC SLI with latest 275.50 Beta (game did the same thing with the last certified driver)
Asus p8p67 Deluxe
Intel I7 2600k @ 4.5
Windows 7 64 bit
8 gigs G.Skill Ripjaw F3-12800CL7D-8GBRH
Nvidia 3D Play to a Sharp lc-60le925un @1080p 24Hz
Exact same issues for me too, In 3d it locks up before it gets to the main menu, And very regularly completely freezes too. Tried lots of drivers but no diff, Run in 2d and its fine.

Did you try the tweak I posted earlier in the thread?

Go to the AliceEngine.ini file that is located in your documents folder in a path similar to this - C:\Users\home\Documents\My Games\Alice Madness Returns\AliceGame\Config

Before you do anything to it, make a backup of the file. Then go inside and search for the following command:

AllowNvidiaStereo3d=True

Change the True to False and save the file. Now run the game and make sure 3D is turned on with the in game option and it should work now. The only problem I have noticed with this is if I alt-tab out of the game for any reason, the 3D is disabled and the only way to enable it again is to exit out of the game and restart it.

guys, I assume it's about 3D surround, not standard 3D right? with one screen 3D I have no problem whatsoever.
with 3D surround, applying the flawlessws hack, there's the same lockup by the key loading screen.
the trick of successful loading is this: when start the game, AA should be disabled from the configure. right after you go into the main game menu, enable AA, you should move pass the key loading screen. after you finish your play session, before exit the game, remember to turn AA off again, and so next time you start the game there won't be glitches.

once again, all thanks to that guy at widescreen gaming. there's glitch yes, but it's way better than what Nvidia bring to us -- absolutely nothing.

Thanks, Arioch! I missed that tweak and have now tried it. It does indeed work! I can now get passed the loading screen and play in SLI. I still have random crashes but I think that is most likely the game as freezes would occur in 2D play as well. One other thing that actually worked for me was disabling SLI completely on my 570SC. I had though I disabled it previously but forgot to disable the dedicated PhysX on the second card. With a single card, It made it passed the load screen in 3D as well. Interestingly enough, I'm not having any of the issues with AA others have written about. I have it enabled and even enhanced in the Nvidia control panel with no issues. Just wished the developer would have used more high resolution textures but the game still looks really good!
On a non-technical note, I'm in chapter five now. The jump puzzles / timing puzzles are killing me in the Land of the Dolls. In one segment I died over 35 times, LOL! I'm currently taking a break from a segment with two huge doll heads you have to go through to get pass the area. Haven't figured out what I need to do and no helpful clues in "shrink" mode. Time to check the 'net for help.

Wow this game is awesome in 3D. I'm running the latest Beta 275.50 and have PhysX set to high and the game plays well in Surround but I find that the Fluid. The black tar stuff that some monsters come from is all pixelated and just looks weird. Was the 275.50 supposed to fix the black fluid? Other then that the game looks and plays amazing in 3D vision Surround.

One of the best looking 3D games yet.

I find the best way to play this game is too set depth to around 75 and then take your glasses off and converge the image on Alice so that that she is not doubled at all. This creates a really cool toyification which makes it look like your playing on a miniature diorama.

I find that when you do that when she goes small and goes through the key doors everything can look a bit out of wack.

Hi!

I used to play Alice madness returns with the 275.33 drivers and i found that the 3D was almost perfect (just a problem with the "mud" that some ennemies let behind them that was in 2D). I've tried to install 275.50 and the mud was almost corrected (problems with reflection in the mud that were not similar on both eyes) but ghosting appeared on every shadows and smoke in the game, making the thing almost unplayable. So i returned with 275.33 and today i tried the 280.19 beta drivers. And i have the same problems with this version. It's too bad because the mud is better, and globaly the rendering seems better too but the ghosting effect ruins everything. Is it a known issue? Is there a way to correct that?
Thanks in advance! (sorry for my bad english^^)

Ok my bad. I run the 3D vision configuration wizard thing in the Nvidia configuration panel and now it's all good. Even if the mud is still not perfect. Sorry for bothering ^^ Bye!

Haven't tried 280.19, but I don't see why you are complaining about the ghosting, it depends on your settings and the display. If you want less ghosting, then set the convergence to be focused on alice and reduce the separation. There is always ghosting in high contrast areas, but it is especially present with high separation settings.
I wanted to ask whether 280.19 alice profile locks the convergence or it remains editable?
ps.:
As for anyone, who wants perfect reflections at the cost of screwed up dynamic shadows, you should try the iz3d drivers, they were perfect from day 1.
