I bought Left4Dead a long time ago but I never play it since I have no friends and would just get raped online. I'm old school...I'd rather myself and everyone playing enjoy the game rather than focusing on winning or the k/d ratio. I wanted to buy the sequel during the sale, but I just couldn't make myself do it. I should fire it up and play some in 3D. I'm sure I'd enjoy it.

That was completely off topic...so...toyification is kewl.
I am exactly the same. I tend to prefer singleplayer games to multiplayer ones because I can go at my own pace and turn off when I want. I havent played L4D online yet for the reasons you mentioned (I also have few PC gamer mates and those that are tend to enjoy raiding which does my head in - each to their own etc).

L4D2 is far more polished and cinematic than L4D (it's very cool in fact), however, the latter seems easier and each campaign takes less time to complete. If you fancy a relaxed (if thats possible) game one day...

Rocket Knight and Zombie Driver work great in 3D. You can max 3D depth with no bad effects.

If we could disable the player model somehow or make a first person mod somehow it'd work great.

Great work! Looks awesome. Thanks for the add.

How did you sort out the image doubling in the fog thingies and the lense flare? I had to minimise convergence as much as possible to align the lenseflare; this of course serious lowered the feeling of depth - even at 100%!

Just so I can edit correctly, I notice the HUD is not there. Is that a compromise? Also please add the link to your solution so others can find it from the list.

Thanks!

@Will12345

Do those games toyificate mate?

Trend micro reports this link as dangerous:
Opening this website may put your security at risk Trend Micro has not yet evaluated this website"Opening this website may put your security at risk"
Is it possible to upload the pix on a different site? TIA

Also, could you clarify that the game can be played in S3D free of artifacts (relatively) and not just for screen caps?
Cheers

-yes it can be played very well. (better, bigger /bunny.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':bunny:' /> /mage.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':mage:' /> /bunny.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':bunny:' /> )

actually you can shoot and aim with lasersight while in free camera mode ;) If you bind the camera to differenet keys you can even move I suppose.

Other would involve placing the camera elsewhere. But as no first person mods exist IDK if this is possible.

the site I link to is a web provider in my country one of the oldest of their kind so its defo safe, and theres one ADvertisement you are free to block. And if you check my screenshot dates Its 1 by a minute so Im actually playing while making these.

oh sh*t. I just played some savegames of my first character, an engineer. I hated it in 2d. Now on insanity , no HUD, 3d, huge fov , huge depth, huge convergence. Well ! Its a good character ! LOL!

And heres the "toyification" special edition cfg press RMB for inreased FOV and farther camera, numpad1 for normal 3 for small fov :Linky
What is toyification?
For those not in the know, 'toyification' is the unique effect that can only be achieved with stereo 3D. It is caused, I believe, by slightly stretching a 'fully deep' gameworld so it extends, pops out, slightly into the space infront of the screen. Once achieved, the game world changes into a distinctive, high definition, virtual model world. I guess it is result of perception - seeing your full sized character, model sized, in front of the screen; this obviously extends into the rest of the gameworld. It might not sound appealing but I, and it seems many others, think it looks great.

How do you get toyification?
Simple. Set depth to 100% and add convergence.

What games allow this toyification effect?
Any game where you can increase convergence at 100% depth.

Why don't all games allow toyification?
Often when you add convergence, something breaks in the game world. A good example would be World of Warcraft which used to toyificate perfectly but a recent patch/driver broke convergence. Now when you increase convergence aspects of the HUD split making it hard to play. Most games will toyificate but not all of them are playable this way.
The reason some games cant achieve the 1:1 ratio of depth, or toyification as you are calling it is because the depth of field is at the 2d level before entering 3d. for example in lotro, you will find your depth of field adjust when entering first person, as the land will go from a compressed depth to 1:1. basicly, if you make the depth around your character 1:1 ratio, the land further away is less than 1:1. so the land further away is not so 3d-like. If you try to make the land further away 1:1 ratio, the area around your character will be more than 1:1, which parts objects further than normal. Not sure how the game designers would fix this other than to curve it backwards than the way it is now. decreasing convergence would be better than always having to increase it... *shrugs* not an expert. Having the land further away be 1:1 though will require more textures and resources that perhaps the game engines cant handle, so the ratio is altered to beat that problem.

Saw Star Wars: Empire at War in the list, however when I tried it with 3D Vision, there was the old problem of the 2D Icons being displayed at screen depth...

Anyone knows if there's a workaround to play SW: EaW with icons at the right level of depth ?

Not perfectly clear on toyificate, but you can max the depth, and increase convergence for a little popout with no issues. Zombie Driver is a top down style arcade racer and with increased convergence you can make the tips of the buildings pop out of the screen. Same deal with rocket knight except its a platformer. Demos for both are on steam, so give em a shot.

Oh really? Gah! I hate that. World in Conflict toyificates marvalously but I didnt even bother mentioning it because of the 2D unit icons. I infact strongly recommend NOT playing WiC in 3D because the 2D icons are so jarring.

I will remove it. :(
