Nvidia 3D Photo Viewer problem stereo view(windowed) doesn't work for me
Hi everyone. I'm new to 3D and would appreciate a bit of help.

I've got an Acer HN274N and an HPZ400 Workstation (Windows 7 64bit prof) with an FX3800 in it.

The 3D photo viewer works in stereo view(full screen) but not in stereo view(windowed). The two images merge into one but it's not in 3D (not blury) and the monitor doesn't go into 3D mode (green LED).

Have I misunderstood what stereo view(windowed) should do?

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Thanks for the reply.

Yes I updated the drivers.

Am I right in thinking that I should get a 3D window on an otherwise 2D screen?

(yet another post I had to do over again because of the stupid quick reply bug - this is getting VERY frustrating)

Check the help:about menu item to see what version you have. It should be 1.2.1. There's actually a 'view in windowed mode' option (control-D) that will force the program into windowed mode. It's working for me right now using the latest WHQL drivers.

P.S. You can also try using the NVIDIA 3D Vision Video Player. It seems to understand .jps files, at least.

Thanks again for taking the time to help.

I've got a kind of workround.

When I was setting up originally it got confused and seemed to be trying to part configure my old monitor (not 3D) and part the new one.

I rebooted with just the 3D monitor and it configured ok.

I rebooted again (with 2 monitors)and found the problem above ie only works in full screen.

I should have thought of it before but this morning I rebooted with just the 3D monitor and it works ok now.

I couldn't get YouTube 3D working before but now that's ok too.

When I switched off the non 3D monitor and unplugged the VGA cable my PC crashed! Not impressed!!

I've noticed that the green LED on the Acer (indicating 3D mode) is now on permanently ... needs more investigating.

Thanks again for helping.

Final bit of the story - all now working ok with 2 monitors.

I'll record it in case anyone else has this problem and finds their way here.

It only worked when the PC was booted with just the Acer connected. Booting with the other monitor connected but switched off at the wall still failed. The PC could still 'see' the second monitor.

I made the non Acer monitor the "main display" on the nvidia 'set up multiple monitors' and got an interesting effect. The picture viewer opened on the non 3D screen and when I opened a pic and went

to stereo window mode it combined the left and right pics to a blurred combination i.e. as expected but (obviously) didn't turn the Acer to 3D. I guess it was trying to turn the other screen to 3D!

Eventualy I made the Acer the "main display" again and everything worked! I noticed it had set the Acer resolution down and thought maybe this was te problem but it continued working after setting it back to max!

I guess I did part of the set-up with one monitor the "main" and part with the other. Changing and swapping back straightened it out.

Other than that it's a very nice monitor - Off to make some 3D pics in Poser now.

Thanks for posting the resolution! Most folks just vanish, leaving everyone to wonder how they fixed it. (Assuming they fixed it. I like to adhere to the "patient missing - presumed cured" approach established by Monty Python. /wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />)

Right now the YouTube thing only works with one monitor and one video card.
