XL2420TX - 3D not working
  4 / 8
No thanks. :-) I choose the TX to get rid of the emitter and wanted the new glasses too. Also, maybe the 3D over HDMI will serve me later.

Wonder if HeatoN and SpawN know about the problem?
Counter-Strike experts maybe but are they true fans of 3D?

Anyway, I will try to get in touch with BenQ today to know what their position is.
I just hope they won't tell me they never heard of the problem.

BenQ is aware of this and is currently investigating. The problem is related when monitor goes into sleep.

It's yet unknown if a firmware update could fix the problem or not but I still don't have the answer if this monitor can be firmware updated by a user or if it's only possible in factory.

I'll update here when I learn more.

That is strange if they told you it is "sleep" related, especially considering I never put my monitor to sleep and this is a persistent problem every time I use 3D for blu rays or games. I am also not sure if this is hardware or software related but the monitor or Nvidia drivers have difficulty switching out of 3D mode when I close the program. For example, if I was a 3d blu ray with TMT5, then I close it, the 3d light remains on and I have strange lines across my desktop background (subtle lines, like there is some sort of rendering error). I can switch out of 3d mode from this error if I open a program like itunes (which it then tries to run in 3d) and then close that same program.

I can't decide if i want to RMA since this seems to persist even with new monitors...

You never power off the monitor, right? I mean when you put you computer in standby OR you turn it off do you also power off the monitor? If not then the monitor will go in sleep mode (no signal) and power LED will light orange.

I power off the monitor. I do not let it idle into sleep when the computer turns off.

Interesting! If you power off the monitor before the computer then this eliminate the fact that it mostly happen when monitor goes in power saving mode.

On my side, I never power off the monitor. I'm back from work so it was in power saving mode for all day and I just tried the 3D and it was not working. I had to unplug/plug.

I wonder if this could mean the problem isn ot hardware? I'll pass this to BenQ. I already submitted this thread to them.

Awesome, thanks for making them aware of the thread. I should probably call them to add my voice to the crowd, even though it seems as though an RMA might not fix it. If it is any consolation to BenQ/Nvidia/whoever can do something to fix this, I plan on buying 2 more of these bad boys to run surround a little later on this year.

Hey guys

I might be getting a XL2420TX

I would just like to know, if the onboard emitter gives me issues can I just use the USB one instead? Or would that not work. I have a spare USB emitter but not the 3d Vision 2 glasses So I might as well take the TX which is the complete bundle...

Yes it will work. That's how I found out the built-in emitter was the problem. I started a 3D game but nothing happened so I plugged in the 3D emitter I had and it worked instantly. Sure for 100$ you get new glasses and 3D over HDMI but having the built-in emitter that work flawless is also welcome.

seems my 3d is working again (day 2) /thumbup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

i simply go to NVIDIA CONTROL PANEL -> SETUP STEREOSCOPIC 3D -> TEST STEREOSCOPIC 3D (1920x1080 @ 120mhz)
right as the monitor goes black, quickly pressed the ON button the glass

that worked for me two days in a row even after pc/monitor shut down on the 1st night.

Yet my findings are that it happens everytime after 4-6 hours in sleep mode. If I put the computer in standby then resume 2 minutes or 60 minutes later, the 3D emitter will work. What I was sure yet is that after eveynight it was not working. Today I went away for 6 hours and I just tried it and it wasn't working. I tried it also after like 2-3 hours and it was working.

Testing 3D in nVidia panel do nothing, the emitter needs a hard reset. Wonder if it could be like a faulty capacitor? I'll foward this to BenQ.

I'm glad this is getting more attention. As I stated earlier, I decided to ship mine back and get a refund. The one thing I will say, is that the gentleman that was assisting me throughout the whole process, including the original advanced replacement was more than courteous. His name is Sid. After telling him I wanted a refund, he quickly e-mailed me a fedex label to return the item. I shipped both monitors at the same time, and they got there 5/5/12, so I am expecting the refund sometime this week. I will post again once it is all complete, but so far, it looks like they are not putting up much of a fight if you want your money back. I really hope they get this resolved, and will be the first one to order another if they do as I loved the monitor when it worked correctly.

Having the same problem, this helped me because I learned about the hard reset, it works fine after that so far. I really like this monitor and I'm pretty pissed about this issue because I'm not sure whether these hard resets will continue to work or more issues will arise in the future I'm calling BENQ and NVIDIA tomorrow if this doesn't get resolved we should start a class action lawsuit that's my stand. I think we should be given money back, or a longer warranty should be given to us do the fact we don't have any assurances things won't get worse. They also new this before shipping the product out but it was to late because they made them all already, there is no way they didn't know this before shipping the product from the factory if we all are having the same issue.

Not a happy camper!!!!! Not rich ether!!!!!!
