I've read it is somewhere in the advanced settings but I cant seem to find it anywhere. Ive tried pressing ctrl+f5 or f6 in games and it does nothing at all

I changed my keys to page-up and page-down without the ctrl button. Key mapping options are in the control panel. I'm not sure every game allows convergence to be manipulated.

Click on Set Keyboard Shortcuts, then Show Advanced In-Game settings. Then check Enable Advanced In-game settings. All done

And as suggested, you might want to change the key bindings. If not, as in Crysis, everytime you try adjusting convergence it will do a save game.. At least it did with mine, as it seems to ignore that you are pushing the CTRL button. I set mine like Spyder suggested.

If you pause the game and go to the main menu in the game, you can adjust the convergence. This is the best way because you watch the words on the background and have the mouse pointer nearit. When the mouse pointer starts to double image, backup your convergence until it both the words in back and mouse pointer is visible without having to cross your eyes to look at the mouse pointer!!!

Here is a non-proprietary guide on setting up separation and convergence. Once you understand the concepts, you're home free!
