Due to some low fps in Shift 2 i decided to go through older drivers in look of some extra fps.
Well i got a nearly solid 60fps using 258.96 drivers, i allso got an option for " generic 3d dlp " + " checkerboard ".
Bang!
I have 1080p@60hz, Fraps shows 60fps while playing homefront.
I do have a mates 3dvision emitter plugged in ready for my new 120hz monitor.
i'm gob smacked that i paid for 3dtvplay at 720p when there's nothing stopping me from getting 1080p@60hz in old drivers, which allso give better fps in shift 2 so its win win.

Checkerboard is practically only half resolution but due to easy and efficient interpolation of a checkerboard pattern it usually looks better than 720.

Right, this is a bug. If game is locked to 60 fps, never above or below, that means vsync is stuck "on".

You aren't restricted to old drivers. You can get checkerboard with all 3D drivers, including latest 270.51
This is not true 1080P60. It is simply 1080P checkerboard. It is essentially the same amount of data as a 720P frame-packed image. So while it might perceptually look better than 720P frame-packed, it is not actually full HD 1080P @ 60Hz.

CB is 1920x1080 60 frames per second. It looks better than 720P because it's native resolution, no scaling errors as in 720P frame packing. And no 'screen door effect' if on a non-DLP display.

I'll Try that later just for a test, am sure that 3dtvplay kept showing up without the options i'm getting now, no piont updating drivers though as all the new 1's give terrible fps in Shift 2 for me :( but i will try it out for amazement purposes /wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />

Tried installing new drivers but 3dtvplay shows up with no options for 3dvision 1080p checkerboard, i take it this is happeneing because i do'nt have a 120hz monitor plugged in at the moment.
All i can say is that this is stupid and i feel sort of letdown with 3dtvplays options.
Another thing that gobsmacked me was i did'nt realise 3dvision worked on 3dtv's with the tv's own glasses!

I think you may need the ir emmiter and a 120hz lcd attached to pc to open these options up, i can't tell for sure as it's going tobe a few days till i get my 120hz monitor.
Only way for me to get these options at the moment are to use older drivers and the ir emitter.

No, that's not it. Problem is the Set up program in all post 259.xx releases has a bug: If a HDMI1.4 3DTV is detected, 3D Vision is abandoned and 3DTV Play Set Up proceeds. There is no checkerboard in 3DTV Play, so you're stuck with scaled 720P.

Right, everyone feels this way. On Jan. 19, 2011 Andrew promised we would have checkerboard in the next release. Since that time there have been two releases and still no CB. For this reason, I created an EDID override file Rollermod.inf. After replacing generic PnP monitor .inf with Rollermod.inf, 3D Vision Set Up will not be derailed to 3DTV Play and you will have all options under 3D Vision including CB. So as I said, CB is available on all revs of geforce drivers, not just the older ones.

Victimized? Really? What kind of rhetoric is this?
First off not all HDMI 1.4a TV's support checkerboard. Second, the original intended scope of 3DTV Play is TO SUPPORT HDMI 1.4a TVs and never had checkerboard support in any of their public documentation, but rather it did SAY it would support 720p60 and 1080p24 FRAMEPACKING. The fact that it DID work there in 258.96 has nothing to do with that intention and is a RED HERRING. At best, it gave you the subtleties to offer up that they DO support it, nothing more. And that is only going to be for SOME HDMI 1.4a TVs, it will indeed not be ALL as ALL do not have the ability to do checkerboard. If it wasn't part of their stated intention, then there is no reason to offer such silly stated conspiracies. Since then, they admited that they underestimated that there would even be a demand for it, and honestly, it didn't seem evident to me that they were even aware that some HDMI 1.4a TVs even supported checkerboard at all. Good, wrong, ignorant, or indifferent that hardly amounts to Nvidia vicitimizing people roller.
So now we are down to drivers and timing. Andrew stated it would be in a *future* release of 3DTV Play and in a *major* release of the driver. 266.58 came out on January 18, 2011, since then there has been nothing but minor updates and betas. 270.51 is the first major release and that is beta.
Andrew has been working his a$$ off answering any and everybodies request the past two monthis and it seems by my lights he's made a huge dent by that effort.
Seriously, man, for being such a smart man, you certainly are wreckless with your words which does not represent reality.

Which is why I didn't criticize Andrew in my post.
Andrew's direct Q&A with customers is unique in the industry and it's value cannot be overstated. At the same time, I don't agree with Andrew's decision to give the checkerboard fix such low priority, but of course I don't see the big picture.

Not happy i paid for 3dtvplay@720p :(

Right, everyone feels this way. On Jan. 19, 2011 Andrew promised we would have checkerboard in the next release. Since that time there have been two releases and still no CB. For this reason, I created an EDID override file Rollermod.inf.
This is the normal reaction when people see how much better 1920x1080/60 CB looks vs scaled 720P.
Right, this is a bug. If game is locked to 60 fps, never above or below, that means vsync is stuck "on".
You aren't restricted to old drivers. You can get checkerboard with all 3D drivers, including latest 270.51

The OP complained about this defeciency, I wanted him to know that others feel the same way.

Which is why I didn't criticize Andrew in my post.
Andrew's direct Q&A with customers is unique in the industry and it's value cannot be overstated. At the same time, I don't agree with Andrew's decision to give the checkerboard fix such low priority, but of course I don't see the big picture.
