New to 3D Vision - strange ghost like bllur on edges
  1 / 2
Hi, well I just got myself an Acer Predator XB270HAbprz 27" monitor so I decided to buy the 3D Vision 2 kit to see what it would be like. It works but I noticed there is this strange blur like ghosting that goes a a centimetre or two around the edges of every object on the screen. The only way I can describe it is that it looks like the Predators cloaking device from the Predator movies like this but just around the edges: http://vignette1.wikia.nocookie.net/weyland-ycorporation/images/1/1e/27901.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20110621151406 It's really distracting and ruining the experience for me. Have I done something wrong or is there something I need to do to get rid of this? Thanks

We need some more info... What games are we talking about ? What hardware - Windovs version ect. If it's not a 3D Ready game, you will most likely need a fix from here: http://helixmod.blogspot.dk/ The Worlds best blog ever !!!

Win 10 has some issues with 3D - there are several posts here about it.. But more important, the games you are mentioning.. AC Unity is a no go, so far at least.. no fixes are made for this one.. Mad Max and Far Cry 4, is fixed by the members of this wonderfull community.. Like I said before - look here for fixes http://helixmod.blogspot.dk/

Hm, go to Nvidia control panel, on stereo 3D settings , on shortcuts, tick advanced in game settings and cycle using your shortcut for "cycle frustum adjustment". There are 3 toggling presets as you use it in game and the second one might help you (you will see that view on edges is changing as you toggle).

Isn't it just 3D compatibility mode?

I thought it might be a W10 issue (typical) think I need to go and slap myself silly for upgrading :( Just tried the fix for Mad Max and it's working beautifully, next I'll try FC4 :) Looks like Helixmod is going to become my new favourite website :D I guess it was wishful thinking that all games would work, I really didn't look into all the details before taking the plunge into 3D gaming, I should have known better! Thanks for your help guys, at least I know I don't have faulty equipment...it's all dependent on the game having fixes. I'm quite surprised that it has to be this way though, is it a case of the game developers not giving a crap about Nvidia 3D?

Lucky we have helixMod:) We can theoretically make any game render beautifully in 3D Vision, but we lack "numbers" and more importantly TIME!!! :) So, we try to fix the games that we are playing or are worth fixing. Yah, compatibility mode is OK on some games where there isn't any other options. It's pretty much like the 2D to 3D conversions done on 3D HDTVs using algorithms to guesstimate depth and image offsets. Murdered Soul Suspect is a perfect example of a game where it can be beneficial, it has a lot of weird transitions as you move through the map that are in 2D and unfixable by the community modders. So the choice is fake 3D or nothing Currently, Compatibility mode only works on DX11 games. You can read about it here https://www.3dvisionlive.com/content/beta-driver-adds-new-3d-mode Also, make sure that you enable the advanced hot-keys and adjust convergence. http://3dvision-blog.com/111-changing-the-convergence-level-in-3d-vision/ One of the community modders comment on Murdered Soul Suspect
It can be forced to DX9. Tbh, Wozman420 says it all. Its a TERRIBLE 3d vision game, the worse I've ever played. I actually fixed alot of it and realized as I played its not worth it. Its constantly interrupted with 2D cutscenes. Like every time you meet a new character/start a "quest". Its WAY more then any game I've ever played and its not even that its all at once its 3D->2D->3D->2D contstantly. Its not really obvious they are pre rendered cutscenes in 2D in case you don't know what I am talking about but its painfully obvious in 3D. ------------------- You can use depthbuffer most likely by forcing it to same profile as Bioshock Infinite with nvidia inspector. However you will quickly see the same thing. @Wozman420 Blame disc based consoles. Though tbh, I've never seen a case this bad.
https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/750205/

This is a sort of 2D conversion mode, and it's not as good as real-3D. The fixes on HelixModBlog are all real-3D fixes, so given a choice, our real-3D fixes should give you the best results. For example, Mad Max. Playable in CM, but really pops with our real-3D fix. Go to the NVidia Control Panel, and choose Setup Stereoscopic 3D. Click Set Keyboard Shortcuts. Show Advanced In-Game Settings. Click to Enable Advanced In-game Settings. That allows you to use Ctrl-Alt-F11 when in game, to disable Compatibility Mode and allow our fix to work. You can use Ctrl-Alt-Ins to see a green help text to tell you which mode it is in. In Mad Max when you disable CM, it will say, "not recommended". It started that way, but of course our fix is nearly flawless. Next up, you'll want to fool with Convergence. Advanced settings is already enabled, so you Ctrl-F6 to increase convergence. Just like Ctrl-F4 increases Depth. It takes sometimes 20 seconds to see any change. Don't go overboard, as it can lead to eye-strain for new users, but you should find it pretty amazing. This is how you can achieve pop-out effects. (CM cannot do pop-out). Win10. Yeah, not the best choice at the moment, but mostly things work. You'll have to futz around more to get things to work, and a couple of games are broken on latest drivers, Witcher3 and FarCry4. If you roll back to 350.12, which will work on your 980, you'll have better luck.

Yeah I surprised people did not immediately jump all over this. Definitely compatibility mode.... Which works ok in some games and not others, and is no where near to real 3d. Turn off compatibility mode, go and peruse the Helix blog fix site, find a game, apply the fix, and have 2d gaming forever ruined to you.

I guess I'll have to get used to doing it this way from now on. It's such a shame that this is not supported more by game devs and Nvidia. Good job for the community here, you guys are awesome :)
