just to know WHY - no windowed 3D for directx11 this topic is to find out the reason why there is no
Hi,

I know for sure that it is not possible to use 3d vision with directx 11 in windowed mode. (from the faq and from testing it)

Fullscreen 3d works for any directx.

Windowed 3d works only for directx 9.

I just want to know why !

Is directx 11 technically preventing nvidia from doing that?
Is directx 11 having some performance problem ?
Is it a political reason ?

I have been looking over the internet and i couldn't find the why.

One interesting story is that league of legends WORKS IN WINDOWED 3D with the latest nvidia driver for gtx570 and using directx11 !!!

But the 2D windowed mode for league of legend is totally out of service (blinking like hell in 2d directx11 latest nvidia driver)

Thank you,
Druknior

Latest drivers are making some progress here, but still looks like dx9 is required for games in windowed mode:

--Adds support for viewing 3DVisionLive.com and YouTube 3D with NVIDIA SLI PCs. Please view this knowledgebase article for more information on 3D Vision Window Mode.

--Adds support for Window mode for 3D Vision Video Player. This requires v1.7.2 or higher of the player.

Thank you, but it doesn't tell why nvidia is having some difficulties with directx11.
If anyone has any answer, I'd be really interested.

Hi

I will answer this question for you.

There isnt anything about DirectX 10 or 11 that makes it harder than DirectX 11. Supporting DirectX 10 and 11 in window mode is a new feature and we just havent added that feature to our driver yet. All features take time and this one is coming at a later date.
