Annoying Blinking problem
  9 / 12
Yes, I too get flashes (experienced it with GT Legends, Fallout 3 and even the 3D Vision Photo Viewer; flashes about once every 5 seconds) when I leave my second monitor (Dell 3007) on. If I switch into single display mode in the control panel, the flashes are gone.

Another thing that causes occasional flashes (once every 30 seconds or so) for me is Alcohol 120%, but only when the tray application is running. I don't have any problems with RivaTuner, however.

Something I observed and that might be related: I use RivaTuner to force my card to run at 2D speeds (300/600/100 MHz) most of the time, since it won't clock down by itself in multi display mode and some applications cause the clock speeds to jump around all the time with the 193.38 driver.
If I forget to set the clock speeds to 3D mode when playing a game or using any 3D Vision app, the image on the screen is mostly black with coloured artifacts at the top and the glasses start flashing randomly. Setting my card to the correct clocks remedies this problem instantly.

I don't even go through the trouble in the control panel. I just hit the power switch on the 2nd monitor itself when I go into 3D mode.

HI,

my firts post here. Sometime i too get that flickering/blinking Porblem with the glases and if that happens i also get some weird sound problems (sudden noises) from my USB Headphones (5.1 Speedlink medusa).
The Problem instantly disappears if i turn off the 3D Effect and play normal. The glases blink at the exact same times as when the sound stutters.
Maybe it has something to do with the USB Ports? I have 4-5 of them in use at once.

The Porblem gets worse the longer i play, reboots helps sometimes.
So maybe another clue in the Puzzle...

I have only had the 3d glasses for 2 weeks now and so far I only get flickering in Gears of War when SLI is enabled. If I turn off SLI then Gears of War has zero flickering and plays fine. So I have to think that SLI is causing some of these flickering issues.

I do not have flickering with SLI enabled in the following games:
COD4
Killing Floor
L4D
Street Fighter 4
Fallout3

These games work perfect and look great in 3d.

I'm using a 2009 Mits DLP and a EVGA GeForce 295 card.

Hummm, with the post of Neco, i should try 3D without the USB and audio at front of computer, cause i know my headphone heard my computer ( yes it's crazy ^^ but there is some gzzzz gzzzz when the computer search ). I'm just thinking it's a material problem thoses flashes.

Bah, i test and already flash.

But, someone here can explain that ?

Why when in the Medusa démo, i choose to see only the Medusa, there is no flashes, but when i look the Warrior, there IS flashes

Ahhhh....I fixed my Gears of War flickering problem tonight. If I turn of directx10/AA in the display settings of the game then I can use SLI mode and have no flickering in 3d. Looks great in 3d and my gun target is also fixed. Before I was turning on the 3d vision laser crosshairs in order to aim. But with directx10 turned off the original game crosshairs work fine.

Hope this helps someone.

You work on 3D and look comments of your client, or you have nothing to do of us ? Cause have flash just cause there is a material conflict ( so drivers are not upgrades to support this config), you should at leass answers when we pose a question !

Bought GTX295. Bought 3d Vision Glasses. Bought Samsung Monitor. Expected to be WOW! Spent $$$$. All I got is annoying white flashes and ghosting between images. Both ruin any fun I could be having with 3D effect. Unhappy Customer.

Edit...
Sorry. When I installed new stereo driver 1.11 I selected environment with TV remotes and other IR interference. Where before I would get multiple white flashes every minute I now get maybe one or two white flashes when playing for several hours. I also am using multiple gpus and my cards are overclocked nicely. Since I changed my environment selection games are very playable and I don't think I can ever go back to 2D. What will I do with all my XBOX 360 games?

I am also having this flickering issue. Well I think I do. Its not as frequent as you guys are saying but when it hapens its like crosseyed vision. I also get a problem where my glasses just stop showing the 3d effect and I have to do Ctrl+T twice to get back to the 3d effect.

I am plugged directly into the motherboard usb bus. When I tried connecting to a pci usb card I believe I got the exact issue you guys are facing. It was like watching a bad sync tv. It was like the glasses were out of sync to the monitor. So I went back to the on board usb. So this could be teh problem here - Bad use or too many things connected to the usb bus. I am going to try running a few more tests to see if I can get rid of the flicker once and for all.

Hello, stevy, it's good people like you test those things ^^, i thank you.

So, when you put it to the On board ( i think it the usb in front of computer ), you have no flick ?

Yes. Basically the (I guess slower) pci USB card caused loads of flicker whereas the motherboards USB ports did not cause as much flicker (if any) played a whole afternoon of different games and didn't knotice a single flicker.

So I can rule a few things out for you:

it's not the samsung screen
it's not sli (9800gx2)
it's not battery (mine must have been nearly flat)
it's not the cable (used both short and long and others with no issue)

it could possibly be some sunlight interference as it was dull today

certainly what made the most difference was changing the USB bus. I've had occational flicker before but once every half an hour or so when plugged into the mobo. This could have been erradicated today as I updated my drivers to the latest.

Hope this atleast helps someone! Maybe try and get a really quick USB card.

Hi,

got the flicker Problem at Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare. Only at the right of the glasses.
Got a 9800GTX+ (no SLI) Driver 190.62 at Windows 7 RC and Creative X-FI.

I tried some Hz changes at the Setup of 3D Vision:

120Hz: flicker
110Hz: no flicker
100Hz: no flicker
use Game Hz: unplayable (double ghost pictures)

I have set CoD4 to 120Hz and glow and all effects off.

On any other Games i dont have the problem.

But now it works fine with 110 Hz.

greetings from Germany,
Soureal
