BUG FOUND: I blame C++ ... ****99_50.jps ...... Why it stops taking 3D screenshots after a while.
SHORT VERSION OF THIS POST:

You can only take 99 screenshots before the screenshot functionality of nvidia 3d vision stops working (per game).

LONG VERSION OF THIS POST:

I could be wrong but I think I figured out why NVIDIA 3D Visions screenshot functionality stops working after a while. The last screenshot I was able to take in Mass Effect 1 was:

* MassEffect99_50.jps

This problem happened before in the past yet I didn't figure out why......... This is the second time it happened. As soon as you want to take over 100 screenshots in your JPS folder the code breaks. This screams C++ inefficiency since every little nook and cranny in that development language can cause a problem.

If this was programmed in VB.NET or C#.NET this would never of been an issue.

Blame C++ not the programmers. Unless you're programming a missile defense system stick with VB.NET or C#.

Hopefully this gets fixed, I LOVE taking screenshots and showing them to my friends trying to get everyone to buy NVIDIA 3D vision.

UPDATE:

Yup now I can take screenshots again. The cycle starts from:

MassEffect01_50.jps

This goes to show that if this entire technology was programmed in C#.nET we would have 5 times the functionality and features compared to now. C++ is crap, and only good for programming missile defense systems. Until programmers realize that we're always going to have to deal with this mundane, inefficient BS.

Jenson, this is your second thread on this topic and judging by the first, nobody gives a s**t as much as you do. C++ is the way it has been programmed so either like it or leave it. How many screenshots do you need to take before your friends are convinced of buying 3D vision? I'd say it would be best to show them the running game as a few screenshots wouldn't do it as much justice as actual moving pictures. You seem to be obsessed with thinking that C++ is only good for "programming missile defense systems". The programmers have far higher priorities than helping you take more than 99 pictures of one game.

*facepalm* OK, now I've got to figure out how to respond without getting banned...

I've seen the numbers go up into the 100's. If you could drop your C++ vendeta for a few minutes, maybe you could figure out when/why the numbers repeat.

Your information regarding C++ and .Net languages is... exceptionally false.

Check out 3D Vision Live. It doesn't work either. I wonder why, could it be C++?

... Missile defense systems ONLY please... :p

I can assure you that C++ supports numbers greater than 99. Don't know where you get your information from. If there is a limit, its because of lazy programmers, not the language. And if you hate C++ so much you should just stop playing games because that is what they use to program literally every PC game.

Christmas present,

what s that registry code again that lets you higher jpeg compression, you know _50 means 50% lossy...

anyway, here is my christmas present for you, some 50% lossy mass effect2 screenshots, http://readalert.atw.hu/hjk.zip just to see what we fought for in recent days.

Ive been playing with novint falcon force feedback controller, thats why the action is limited,

No HUD equals no force feedback and I choose FFB, it also allows me to aim, because when you re hit , thats somewhat strong now, so more RPG than shoot ! :D

I texmodded a black crosshair btw, dunno if transparent is possible, 80% transparent nv blue crosshair is very good.

Simple way to get around and take more screenshots: Make a new folder and move all old screenshots into it. I recall this was a limitation in the old stereodrivers as well. Dunno if it's such great issue to justify a bugreport. :P

ok, I'll dig up some more if you want, since I'm about stopping playing it alltogether. /ermm.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':ermm:' />
There are some minor artifacts, you'll need a config file to eliminate the worse ones ,looks good,
-only the humble ME1 turning into some overrated madness is not a good sight.

OMG you were able to texmod the crosshair? Your screenshots look really good btw, thanks for that. I would start a separate thread for it :)

* Do you know if texmod works with mass effect 1? I tried usign it but couldn't find the crosshair texture.

* In Mass Effect 2, is it better to texmod the crosshair to transparent or turn it off completely? Which has the least amount of problems?

I was taking 3D JPS pictures automatically while I play to categorize the game in 3D then upload it all to a website so people can just go through the entire mass effect 1 game watching JPS screenshots. No way I'm gonna alt tab out though and move this files, that's annoying. hehe

C++ can't handle going past 99... haha j/k

Where did you get that idea? C++ are only limited to the variabletypes used. The lowest one which is one-byte representative is -128 til 127 but more commonly as lowest the 16bit integertype is used as minimum which give -32768 to 32767... The limit of 99 screenshots is because the developers hasn't built in support for more. Simple as that... If it was built similar in VB.NET or C#.NET the issue would remain. Also the execution would be slower. :P
