Any way to turn the brightness down in 3D on the 2233rz Samsung? nothing seems to "stick" wh
I can change the brightness while outside games just fine, whether it be through the monitor itself or Nvidia's control panel. However no matter which method I use or brightness I set it to, it always reverts back to the original 100% brightness when playing a game in fullscreen (which is required for 3D). If someone has found a way around it it'd be awesome if you could share it here. I want to turn down the brightness to be at least half as bright as it is now, to reduce ghosting.

thanks for any help /thumbup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

have you tried the hardware controls on the right side of the monitor?

As I said, I can change it with the monitor and Nvidia's control panel, but any changes I make are negated when playing a game in 3D. It always seems to go to a preset 100% brightness mode with nothing apparent I can do about it =/

Thats correct as nVidia overides it and I think 100% is definetly not to much!
Why dont you just set it in games if you thing it's to bright ?
It cant be any easier!

Because it's locked when you're in 3D stereo mode. You simply can't change the brightness through the monitor during a game when playing in 3D. Pressing the brightness button says "brightness not available", same goes for contrast and all color settings. I was hoping there was a way to override it so I made this thread in case any other 2233rz owners figured out a way to get anything but 100% brightness in 3D stereo mode.

The few games that give you brightness controls in-game don't let you set it much lower than the monitor's 100%. Even at 2.6 in TF2, which is darkest setting the game allows, is still quite bright and washed-out thanks to the monitor's insane 100% brightness level.

I appreciate the help but I suppose no one has found a way around this and the Samsung monitor is just a haven for ghosting thanks to this iron-fisted brightness preset :(

That is so bizarre... I wish I could help you.

same problem.
it is really bad, because if i want to play without glasses and stereo it is still insanely bright!
At least when i am wearing the glasses - they tone down picture a little, but without them - my eyes are burning!

Toh, it doesn't let you change the brightness when you're not in 3D? I can do that at least, even in 120 Hz mode. I have my monitor brightness set to 16 and it's nice and easy on the eyes. The only time it goes back to 100% is when I'm in 3D. If it doesn't let you change the brightness when you're not in 3D, that's really odd and I think I would sell this monitor post haste if that were the case.

Hell, I'm thinking of selling it already as it is. I'll be getting a DLP HDTV in about a month and I hardly use the 3D right now thanks to the excessive ghosting this monitor causes.
