I've been a die hard 3D Vision fan since 2011, but I'd be lying if I said I'm not getting just as good or more immersive stereo 3d experience in actual full scale using VR
I find it so hypocritical people here talk out their butts about VR the way 2d cyclops have talked about 3d vision for years.
VR IS STILL 3D...
My Oddysey Plus 1440x1600 resolution has been more than enough for a solid immersive stereoscopic 3d full scale experience with the following titles.

I don't think it's about being stubborn. For me it definitely is not.
I tried it with Oculus, than with Mixed reality and I will try it again when something worthy comes out.
The technology is still shit to provide for good VR games.
I could only play games like Metro Far Cry .... or other FPS you have in your list on a virtual screen and man quality is shit on a virtual screen.
How do you imagine I can use this tech after playing on 4K LG oled or the Avegant Glyph ( which provides amazing image quality, even tough is only 720P)
And let's be honest, the real VR games are mainly JOKE. There are just a few games that I could enjoy in VR. Elite dangerous , Doom VFR, and other titles that look promising but did not release yet.

Unfortunately, some of us also suffer from motion sickness while gaming on monitors or TVs. It's a terrible feeling that most will never understand, having not experienced it themselves.
Pepcid AC chewables help alleviate the symptons/make them go away faster after it occurs. So you might try it next time.

In a few weeks, anyone in the US wanting to try the Oculus Quest or Rift S can try them out to get a taste of VR.
I have to admit, I just saw the details today when I opened up Steam, and this seems enticing given the news regarding 3D Vision.
I have very limited experience with a VR headset and the screen door effect was TERRIBLE. Is there anyone here who could comment on how the specs of this Valve Index sound comparatively?
I have an Oculus CV1 and use it a lot for 3D gaming. It's kind of like a 90 inch virtual 3D screen that you can wrap around your head, and I enjoy it a lot even though the res is comparatively low.
This blows that away.
I'll be getting one when the price drops a little.

Hmm, one tid bit I missed.
The Index will be the first VR Headset that takes advantage of the Virtual Link connection on RTX Turing GPUs. (needed adapter not included)

This will fall on deaf ears here sadly, these people insist that cross-talk laden GPU (and CPU, i.e. 3 core bug) limited 50 FPS stutter-fest on a TN panel with fairly poor colors and contrast with glasses that have never been updated from their 2012 prototype / chinese torture device death pressure point pads on the arms is unrivaled by VR.
Nvidia cancelled this antiquated technology because using telemetry (remember when that was added?) they were finally able to see the number of people using 3D Vision, probably one of the main points of introducing telemetry to the drivers a few years ago (to see how youre using their product to cull features with low adoption rate) in the first place.
Then, they go out of their way to insist that you are the problem and should be banned from the forums (D-Fag11).
LOL.
I'm pretty much done here, I've said my two cents and there is nothing more to this shit-show than the unraveling of a community with vicious retards lashing out in anger at anyone who tells them that not only is 3D Vision antiquated but that they also got ripped off by NGreedia with their Turing rename scam where the entire line-up was renamed one card higher to make a doubling of price seem palatable.
RTX "2070", TU-106 SKU, no SLI, as fast as outgoing 80 card, blatantly obvious $600 60 card.
RTX "2080", as fast as outgoing 80 Ti card, $900 70 card in actuality.
RTX "2080 Ti", 25-30% faster than 1080 Ti, $1200 before-taxes 80 card.
Stating the above roused the ire of both Rusty-something-or-another "Shit in a Bowl" and D-Clam 11, they obviously didn't like me telling them that they are moron stooges who probably run out an buy a new Iphone twice a year for no good reason / enjoy being taken for a ride by a greedy corporation.
Then they doubled down on the insanity and exclaimed that they were all going to reward Nvidia when it was announced that NGreedia would discontinue 3D Vision support sometime this year by all running out and purchasing a $1200 before-taxes glorified 80 card (or two).
Then, exactly two weeks later, we have the last 3D Vision driver and they still continue to exclaim that I'm a real problem and should have been banned from the forum long ago for telling them things that they don't want to hear.
Yeah that's what we need, we need to silence those who speak truth to power, there's a word for this that is at the tip of my tongue but I can't quite summon it,......ah yes, Fascism.

Get over it. Move on. The quicker you accept this the less painful it will be (i.e. not bothering with "2080 Ti" SLI for $3k).

Not sure if this is the best place to ask, but I am curious about VR in the latest incarnation (since 3D Vision is pretty much "deaded" from the official driver point of view.)
1. Can you play any 2D game in VR Virtual Desktop (Either from STEAM, or VorpX or Virtual Desktop app)etc?
Does it work for DX12, Vulkan?
2. What about, for example if I feed in a SBS format of my game (I have in my OGL wrapper SBS support that doesn't require 3D Vision at all and can produce either geo3D or Depth 3D Stereo output).
Would I be able to actually see Stereo3D like I would see it on my 3D Vision monitors?
3. Anyone tried VR under Linux (using SteamOS, Proton, etc) ?
4. What is the best VR headset currently between Oculus, Vive, Index. (I am asking about the major brands since I assume other VR headsets don't work with everything as these do? Correct me if I am wrong and if a VR headset now is simply like a monitor - plug&play).
Many thanks!
Helifax
PS: I am interested in a virtual Monitor and a controller so no jumping around or mounting stations and crap like that, since I don't have space or feel like clearing my lounge for this.
So, a GOOD resolution VR headset + regular XBOX Elite Controller while I sit down, next to my PC experience :)

You'd likely be happiest with the Pimax 5K +, due to it's higher FOV. The LCD screens that it uses has a better pixel fill factor.
lohan_0903 has it and answered some questions in detail in the Skyrim VR thread.
I owned or still own practically every major headset on the market (Rift, Vive, Vive Pro, Odyssey, Odyssey Plus, PSVR, Pimax 5K Plus) and I can tell you that the wide FOV alone is absolutely worth it! It's a total game-changer!
the single most important point here is definitely the 200 degress (diagonal) FOV. I dare to say that once you have seen it yourself you can't go back to the other "binocular-style" headsets.
Anyhow, each model might tic some boxes, but none ticks them all yet. So do a lot of research and decide for yourself.

Yeah, think you said you were done here? Please do so and contribute something useful at last. Go away and take your childish name calling with you.
All your posts just show that you think you know something about everything but you actually live in a closet reality that exists in your own head.
It's painful to even contemplate what you're going through, bit like waiting to read whatever latest outburst you come up with.
You're not a gamer, you're not a net contributor, you're just a troll who comes on here to platform your ideas and write offensive post after offensive post. For your sake I hope it's just an internet persona and not your real personality.
Bye bye, don't come again.

Ye we may not have a Helix sized title list but it is indeed growing thanks to Ralf and VorpX injection and other game/app devs who have done vr stereo 3d right.
Doom VFR
Arizona Sunshine
Robo Recall
Arktika
AeroFly FS 2
Microsoft Flight Simulator X with Flyinside Injection(better than anything you could get running it with 3d vision)

Intel i7 8086K
Gigabyte GTX 1080Ti Aorus Extreme
DDR4 2x8gb 3200mhz Cl14
TV LG OLED65E6V
Avegant Glyph

What virtual screen??
I'm playing those games in full direct VR

I'm sorry, can you point me to a post where anyone said that VR was not stereoscopic? Or where they were talking out their butt?
BTW, the Index $999 package has sold out and is now on back order. No word on how many units were actually available.
I can't do this without feeling sick the whole day. I don't suffer from motion sickenss in real life or while 3d gaming but running in VR or going down some stairs makes me puke.

I have an Oculus CV1 and use it a lot for 3D gaming. It's kind of like a 90 inch virtual 3D screen that you can wrap around your head, and I enjoy it a lot even though the res is comparatively low.
This blows that away.
I'll be getting one when the price drops a little.
The Index will be the first VR Headset that takes advantage of the Virtual Link connection on RTX Turing GPUs. (needed adapter not included)
https://www.tweaktown.com/news/65777/valve-index-first-virtuallink-geforce-rtx-cards/index.html
BTW, all those orders of the index do not ship until September
Closet fascists love to call for internet censorship.
I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if D-Clam and Shit-in-a-bowl were both overhanded Reddit moderators, you know the type, speak something bad about Nvidia or some other shady corporate entity? Prepare to be banned.
3D Vision is dead.
Long live VR.
Get over it. Move on. The quicker you accept this the less painful it will be (i.e. not bothering with "2080 Ti" SLI for $3k).

Use the toilet to spew the filth coming from your mouth, not these forums.
