Helix isn't perfect, because he's just a man. And yes, he stepped on the migoto guys' toes, but then it could easily be argued that they stepped on his toes first. Whatever. That's life.
There's no need to worhsip him but let's keep any criticism respectful and diplomatic. Let's show gratitude where gratitude is due, and not bite the hand that feeds us.
(EDIT: I think Gynzer's post below shows how treating him like a god and/or rushing to his defense at the slightest hint of criticism just makes things worse, as people react to it and swing to the other extreme),

Yes. As opposed to what we have now? Yet that was a sure-fire way to kill whatever motivation he had towards finishing the project however; I absolutely would've done the same in his shoes. It made his whole crowdfunded project look garbage in comparison, especially because he "dared" to ask for money for it.
So many of the posts are just absolute garbage sucking up to an image of a guy they have, dreading any actual criticism. It's this really weird, really ridiclous effect as if he can't do wrong because he's done something good. He's put out a wrapper once that fixed many things and everyone is grateful for that. You're delusional if you think his conveniently timed teaser/announcement/leak was just a coincidence. It's what he feeds on.
Here's a better question. Why isn't Helix sharing the work he's done so far? Just publish everything and let people pick up on it. It's quite clear that nothing is happening due to lack of motivation or due to lack of skills, whichever way. People who know how to continue the work are rare, but not so rare that someone wouldn't be able to pick up on it. It would show that he's not holding the whole 3D community hostage for an ego boost and weird praises but genuinely wants to be of benefit to the community.

Let's stop this right here before things get nasty.
Check it out, new nvidia news:

So does anyone here use geforce experience? I looked at it once when it first came out, and never again.
I think it's a good idea in that it lowers the difficulty curve for those people who think PC gaming is complicated (tight integration with Steam would probably help there). But I imagine most long-time PC gamers are more than happy to set their own settings.

We have over 200 video game patches[each took many hours] and took 3D Vision off life support for 2 years. You ungrateful leech. Most of the users here came to 3DVision during helixmod, not knowing it existed. Think real hard about how fun it would be if it didn't exist especially after spending all that money on a 3d vision set up.
You make it sound like he has an ego, because he doesn't say anything? Could be he has a REAL JOB and his free time may consist of doing this and PERHAPS if he has the gall to actually play some games. You are not his boss and he is not your employee.
You have no idea what your talking about and have done 0 for anyone else, so please stop talking. There is no "half-done" its either done or isnt. You are not a coder so please don't assume you know. He releases something, ok. Now what are you going to do with it? It will automatically fix all your DX11 games? Is it going to be compatibile for multiple games?Or does it have to be made user friendly and each patch have to be manually crafted?
There are multiple coders capable of using helix's wrapper because he offered to teach the few people who wanted to learn. The people of the migoto said once bioshock infinite is over there might not be further patches and they were not going offer to teach people. It was up to people to figure out for themselves which is near impossible.
Chiri/whomever [I forget] I am sure are good people but as far as patching go. They are responsible for one unfinished DX11 game. Many of us even continued donations after it was concluded including myself [you probably haven't because of the whole ungrateful leech thing].
Helix/Helixmod is over 200 and one finished DX11 game.

3D community hostage? Ha. Your world is so narrow. Go buy an oculus rift try one of its renderers, tridef, IZ3D, whatever.
You want games of helix's quality [If you want to pretend there isn't a huge gap thats your prerogative]? Then you got to wait... or leave. I'd be happier if you left so it doesn't matter much to me either way. People like you are reason I haven't been hanging out here. People who just sh^t all over two years because of a rainy season.

Maybe it's because it's late, I've just got in from work, and I am tired, but I am absolutely *staggered* by this post. I am literally speechless at the degree of vitriol - over what? Who are you anyway? I simply can't understand on what basis you feel the need to demonize someone who has, off his own back, provided nothing but free stuff to the community for over 2 years. This is not about worship or thinking he is a god and never saying anything negative about him, it's about recognizing and being appreciative for what he has done, and showing him some respect for that. I would like to see the DX11 wrapper as much as anyone and as a modder myself I am probably more impatient than most to get my hands on it, but you know what I do in it's absence - I fix DX9 games while I am waiting, I do something constructive. Where is your DX11 wrapper? Where are all the games you have fixed? They don't exist, because you've contributed nothing. You have absolutely no currency to complain about anyone. Modders are not community property, they are people who invest time when they have it, when they feel like it, and they are entitled to stop whenever they want as well. As someone else posted, if you want a DX11 wrapper so bad, piss off and write your own and don't come back here until it's done.

Technically 3D vision died almost 2 years ago baring a few 3D games like Tomb Raider, Metro last light, and Batman Archam City, etc.
Helix and the great work from guys like Mike and eqzitara, and DHR, etc have kept 3D going, while we get nothing from nvidia. I've recently jumped to Tridef which is better then nothing and I'm actually comfortable with the knowledge that 3D vision is dead and I can still get a good experience from tridef. I however will not spend a single dollar on another nvidia product again. Tired of this shit. Spend thousands and we can't even get more then a couple of responses from a moderator every few years. Andrew also said almost a year ago that their would be 3D vision news and nothing happened. Now we have a new guy (can't remember name) who is promising news and now he's also awol. When a game is done properly with 3D vision, it's better then tridef but good luck with any game that's come out the last few months.
The only criticism I could throw Helix way would be lack of communication. I know he doesn't "owe" us nothing, and even if he's done with 3D vision I would still be truly grateful for what he's done. But, how hard can it be to just post once in a while? I mean just a single update, even a single line response would be amazing. I do find the lack of communication a little odd, only because Helix is obviously passionate about 3D (or why bother) and this is the forum where 3D geeks hang out. So, you would think that someone who's into 3D gaming would be on these forums posting once in a while. Maybe he's just busy and can't be bothered to visit these forums at all. I know he was very active when the Bioshock Infinite "event" happened but he disappeared soon after and that's the last I heard from him.
What if he's decided that he's done with 3D vision? or that he's still working on the wrapper but he's busy, or it's much harder to finish then anticipated. The lack of news from Helix I think can be frustrating to some, but we can't start attacking him with ridiculous posts because 3D Vision only exists because of him. Our anger should really be focused on Nvidia. It's their fucking product that they refuse to support.

This is just because 3d vision community is so small. If it were, lets say half the nvidia community, all the nvidia sponsored games would be 3d vision ready. Many others too.

Wow, this is getting out of control. Would it help if I said I've spoken to someone at nvidia and we can expect some news soon?
Unfortunately I've promised not to say any more on the topic (and to be honest, the /only/ thing I know is a possible date for when the news may come). But I get the impression nVidia know we're frustrated, and it would seem pointless to just announce a new monitor or game given the state of 3dv. So hopefully it's more substantial than that. But I know nothing on what the actual news could be, this is just speculation.

the 3d vision news we've been told about will probably happen sometime Q1 2014 when they start releasing more and more G-Sync monitors since they're all 3dvision capable. It might broaden the audience since people that might want to buy this tech will already have 3dvision certified monitors. Soon might as well mean couple of months considering last time we heard anything official was like a year or two...
as for GFE I think its developed for steam consoles in mind mostly so people can just hit play and play the game (console audience that doesnt want / dont know how to deal with settings). I would start using it if it have advanced mode where I can change every setting available in the game out of the game and benchmark it, otherwise its pointless. I use nvidia inspector more than GFE, oh well I dont use GFE at all :)
I remember than when I tried it, it sets all my setting to the MAX and I had like 50-70 fps where I wanted to have 120... maybe it woudl be useful if you can specify min fps and it would adjust the settings to meet that. As is I'm not interested and nvstream service which is responsibile for streaming games into shield from what I know have caused my games to crash even though I dont own a shield and never ever wanted to use this (just installed it and uninstaled the service shortly after).
as for the Helix I'm aware that he doesnt owe me anything and I can't demand anything from him, all I can do is be grateful for all the games that I was able to enjoy in 3d (seriously I said it already but I will say it again if its not for community fixes I would be able to play like 2-3 games I'm interested in with proper 3d, nvidia good ratings or even excellent are often times simply unplayable). I would agree with Conan481 about the communication issue, especially that no matter how few people hangs out here I bet they're all counting on him in one way or another simply because there is no real alternative.
I think many of you have remember what answer we got from the mods on BI forums, that 3d is a gimmick and they're not going to support it. Thats the attitude you can be mad at although there was no indication that they will support 3d vision in the first place.
I just recently go back to replay all deadspace games on harder difficulties as well as DMC and after taking a brief break from 3d gaming I'm blown away again. I really can't understand how people can't see this as a great breakthrough and point that its silly because you have to wear glasses... but you cant expect from people to think the same way you are.

Totally. Your idea of "optimal framerate" and nvidia's idea of "optimal framerate" is rarely going to be the same. Some people are happy with 30fps, while others are unhappy with 110fps.
If it had a slider where you choose your preferred FPS, then I'd consider giving it a try.
when they start releasing more and more G-Sync monitors since they're all 3dvision capable.
I didn't know this. This could really be one of the best things ever to happen to 3Dvision. I'm certain that the expensive monitors are one of the big obstacles to people giving 3D a chance. Shelling out $500 or so to try 3D is a big risk.
But 2D gamers will (eventually) be flocking to g-sync nonitors. And once you have a monitor, spending $80 on a pair of glasses to try 3D becomes much less risky - it would almost be silly not to.
But anyway, I think I know what the big news is: IT'S NVIDIA'S NEW CARD, THE GTX-L3G0! IT'S THEIR BIGGEST EVER!

I still wonder what SUPERIOR 3D means for them :) its definetley not what I would like it do mean, and thats support for the actual tech on their part.
I'm not entirely sure if they want to broaden the audience if they dont want to support 3d vision anymore since that will mean more people whining about games not working in 3d properly, which would definitely be a good thing for us.

People who know how to continue the work are rare, but not so rare that someone wouldn't be able to pick up on it. It would show that he's not holding the whole 3D community hostage for an ego boost and weird praises but genuinely wants to be of benefit to the community.
Check it out, new nvidia news:

I installed it when Shadowplay came out - that's great. I don't use the rest of the stuff though, as already noted hardcore gamers who wear shutter glasses in a darkened room usually know how to configure their settings themselves ;-)

But I know nothing on what the actual news could be, this is just speculation.
as for GFE I think its developed for steam consoles in mind mostly so people can just hit play and play the game (console audience that doesnt want / dont know how to deal with settings).

If it had a slider where you choose your preferred FPS, then I'd consider giving it a try.
IT'S THEIR BIGGEST EVER!
oh well that was an assumption on my part after seeing asus spec sheet

I jumped out that if they're all going to use 120hz+ and have nvidia tech in them they will support 3d vision by default (it would be silly not to)
I still wonder what SUPERIOR 3D means for them :) its definetley not what I would like it do mean, and thats support for the actual tech on their part.
I'm not entirely sure if they want to broaden the audience if they dont want to support 3d vision anymore since that will mean more people whining about games not working in 3d properly, which would definitely be a good thing for us.
