Hi, I have some questions I need to know.
1st: I want to build my own computer with gtx 680 2gb (because of 3d) with 3d monitor acer HN274H. Do I need nVidia 3d vision wireless kit with the emitter or not?
2nd: Somewhere I read it is not possible to play 3D games without 2nd video card with bridge between them. Is it true?
Thank you for information

Update: If I need the nvidia kit, which one I need for the monitor? 3D vision 1 kit or 3D vision 2 kit (http://www.nvidia.co.uk/object/buy-3d-glasses-uk.html)? What is different between the 2 kits?
P.S.: Sorry did not see the edit button.
The monitor is a great one from what ive read, similar to my asus VG278H. Check the prices though, as with the acer, you need to buy the nvidia 3D vision kit (emitter and glasses)
The acer has light boost right? Don't let anyone confuse you about this tech. It is awesome for 3D, but you dont need to have nvidia 2 glasses or emitter, lightboost is entirely backwards compatible with nvidia 1 glasses. with that said, we can look at pros and cons of the glasses, i have both:
nvidia1: people say can be uncomfortable, i don't agree but they did take some time to break in. nvidia 2 are slightly more comfortable. You cant really wear big headphones with nv1 as the glasses stick out.
nvidia2: arguably more comfortable, massive, ugly, serious reflection issues in inner rim (its like a kaleidoscope when gaming, I hate it) but is much better for wearing big headphones (which i dont). nvidia say the lenses are bigger allowing you to see more. This is complete bs. The lenses are bigger, but the frames are much thicker, and block off any extra fov, and create lots of screen glare. The n2s have a lot longer battery life, but n1 lasts for 40 hours... Which is more then enough!
needless to say I exclusively wear my n1 glasses.
as for needing 2 cards, no, thats not true at all. I game with a gtx 680 and achieve super smooth frame rates in 3D on all games at max or near max settings, eg.(these are guesses based on experience)
witcher 2: avg 80-90 min 40
batman aa: avg 120, min 80
aka, butters!! (though in 3D i always have no AA as seems useless on 1080p to me) no dx features like depth of field, motion blur etc, as its all stuff to simulate 3D... which is obviously not needed.
a second card would probably ensure you always stay above 60fps per eye, which would be very nice, but really not essential to great smooth gaming. if you wanted to get sli, check out the upcoming titan, looks to be close to a gtx 690 but only 1gpu, win! But probably £700. Also, check out the gtx 670, as much cheaper but very similar to gtx 680 in speed. Dont forget, you are buying the gtx 600 series right at the endof its life. Gtx 700 is just around the corner, so dont be disappointed if something much better for the same price comes out within the next 2 months.
Happy gaming, you're going to have some serious fun!

Wow thank you for informations. I found out a new one. Can I use DVI port for 3D? I am thinking that I would but GTX 690 and there is not HDMI. If it is possible, are there different versions of DVI (like HDMI 1.3, 1.4)and what version do I need?

Actually Dual DVI is the standard for nvidia 3D. That is standard on all 3D monitors (but beware, samsung etc have hdmi only)
Hdmi only allows for 720 at 60fps or 24fps at 1080p, aka, poopie!
Gtx 690, lol, nice. In for a penny, in for a pound.

and is there a version difference between dvis? Because on wikipedia is about 5 versions and I do not know which version is for 3d :/
Which monitor are you looking at? as long as it says Dual Dvi, and you've checked that it is NVidia 3D compatible on nvidias website, then it will be 100% fine.

it is the acer monitor, but i do not know which cable, if there is only 1 dual dvi, or what is the name of it, or if there are different version like for hdmi.

Ok, first of all that monitor will come with the correct cable (dual dvi cable) your reading to much into this dvi cable stuff, there is only one dual dvi. The other cables are single link, analogue etc etc. dual Dvi is Dual Dvi. The one included with the acer will be as good as the only that costs £100, that has been confirmed without a doubt.
So If you want that monitor just pull the trigger, that acer will be great, and then just decide which glasses you want, nvidia 1or 2. I prefer the original, as nvidia 2 has to much glare for my tastes, but are much better suited for wearing headphones.
If your worried that the dual link is not included in the screen, just look on ebay for a backup. £5 should get you one.

Ok thank you, I thought that there are different versions of dual dvi. So I will buy the gtx 690 :) a lot better than checking version of hdmi (in my country sellers usually do not know what version they are selling :/)
