But this time, I'm not posting about a game :P
Terminator fans get ready for Terminator 2 : Judgment Day in 3D!!
Terminator 2: Judgment Day is being converted to 3D by StereoD, the firm who previously converted Cameron's 'Titanic' and 'Jurassic Park', from a brand new 4K restoration of the film
August 29th 1997: The day Skynet first became self aware.
The film is expected to release on or around the 20th anniversary of this event.
I'm sure some of you are thinking
#another cash grab
#re-releases suck
#converted 2D, yuck
But here's what I'm thinking
#3D is awesome and I'll gladly take it over 2D whenever I can, TY James Cameron

Sure conversions are not ideal but at least this prove there is still hope for 3D. But we all know Cameron is a big fan of 3D... what a chance! I'm curious what Avatar 2 will bring to 3D.

Well he's doing it just as much for the money.
He reasoned that since Terminator 2: Judgment Day was never shown in China, ticket sales there would easily pay for the estimated $7 million conversion.

If you haven't seen it, his DeepSea Challenge 3D is pretty good, as far as documentaries go.

You're right, highly recommended
Titanic was alright when I first saw it in 2D at the theater, I would have preferred to have seen anything else that night.
A few years later, I bought it on Blu_ray 3D and loved it. Very well done.

Cinemas was still under construction in my country when this was released. Era when drive-ins still dominated. Seeing this on the cinema would be awesome. Watching this in 3D = EPIC! Thanks for sharing.
Hopefully StereoD would be able to make an impression on the Wachowski brothers/"sisters"... Im positive The Matrix would have made much more than Avatar if it had the same tech at the time it was shot. But cant see how natural effects like water drops and dust could be converted. If it was possible I cant imagine any other movie deserving 3D more than this one. But more of, imagine The Matrix in VR!!! It would be stupid not to create this game for VR... Even if it meant a remake of the film in VR RPG format.
My imagination is getting me excited for nothing now :(

I just had this fun idea/gimmick for a Matrix VR game where to go into the matrix you have to put on the VR headset and play with it, and for gaming segments in the real/distopian part of the Matrix universe you have to remove the VR helmet and play on your monitor, which would help in creating the distinction between the crappiness of the reality they really live in (in the form of playing in 2D), versus the surrealness of the Matrix.

Makes perfect sense DJ-RK. The possibilities are endles. I remember a game was released but I never even touched it. Too scared it would leave a bad taste in my mouth for not living up to the movie. Same as Avatar game did. The game sucked big time compared to the movie. Avatar is the only movie I went to watch more than once on the cinema. Went back 5 times.
To promote the shit out of VR gaming, recreate The Matrix!!! I could even see the world of Pandora in Avatar being a very could investment. All the neon lights and dinosaurs and massive forests. I hope James have been exposed to VR...he is a man who embraces opportunity and after his success with Avatar his pockets must be extra deep. Your idea might also work in Avatar since both use similar concepts. Assasins Creed also comes to mind.
How long till VR becomes mainstream...
I've heard James never wanted to start Avatar because the technology didnt live up to his imagination at the time of his conception. He also had to wait like 10 years or something for the tech to catch up to compliment his dream.
Hopefully nVidia would surprise us with some exclusives for xmas.
I also hope Microsoft would make the Vive and Rift compatible with their Scorpio. It would save many money and give VR gaming a massive boost when youre able to use the HMDs on more than one platform. Sony should have thought about this...

I went on that ride back in the 90s, when I was travelling in the US :D Was the first time I saw proper (non red blue) 3d.
It's cool Cameron is still into 3d - but T1 was a better film than T2, he should redo that.
Wake me up when they start making those "new versions" in 60fps per eye.
edit: or better yet, 90-120, so they can be viewed comfortably in VR in the future. :)
