Will these drivers work like the ones provided by NVidia? I mean, will they offer all the 3D modes of opperation or just what the Zalman screens support? Will we be able to download these and use them for field interlaced device or dual output for example?
Basically, will they be worth downloading only for Zalman users or for anyone wanting to do 3D on an NVidia chipset?

- my understanding is that this driver is for only Zalman monitors with windows vista
- If you have win XP you can only use the older 2006 driver with an nvidia video card that isnt model 8000 +
If you looking for support for 3D projection etc you shouldnt look to nvidia my understanding is they will no longer be making 3D drivers for anything else except for Zalman. You want to be looking at 3rd party drivers which you will most likly have to pay for. There are a few companys on the net which are in the process of making drivers for other 3D soultions, check my other recent post regarding tridef software which supports a few games for other 3d solutions otherwise you may need to search the web

The problem is that I have a T61 ThinkPad with a NVS 140M Quadro (GF8400 equivalent) which I would want to run stereoscopic applications on using the Z800 HMD. My T61 has Vista on it. I could always install XP as a dual boot but I would prefer only using Vista future-wise.
What would be your suggestions for this problem as well as the best 3rd party drivers that would match the functionalities of the old NVidia stereo drivers? TriDef sounds like yet another very specific option that is made for 3D LCD screens. Are there any generic drivers out there?

This driver is not a zalman only driver. For me it works fine with a standard CRT monitor and 8800 GTS with vista in anaglyph mode. Also no where on the driver's user interface, it says "only supported for zalman".
I played crysis a little, however the 3D effect was not that cool. But then I'm used to watch 3D with shutter glasses......
I hope with some registy tweak, some one might be able to enable shutter glasses as well.
I'll play more games tomorrow and tell you the results.
Can you tell us what options are available? Better yet, can you post a few screen capture of the UI of this driver?
There are no other options. You either get the full proper interlaced S3d if you have the zalman like me or Anaglyph if you dont. Currently there are now other ways around this.
I do not thing there will be a was to get round this in the registry as i believe the hardware monitor ID is hard coded and gives of a signal on one of the monitor pins to show that the hardware is connected.

Zam, Is it just the interlaced lines you found disturbing in crysis ?
On my part I need Crysis to work perfect for demonstration purposes -since it is one of the most appreciated games at the moment- but I have tried many settings and can't get a ghosting free result.
Water and reflections seem to pose the biggest problem, embarassing for a game that takes place on an island...
If anyone managed to have crysis or any other highly rated recent game to work flawlessly please post them here.

I didn't find it disturbing. I just played the first level and it lacked depth. Thats it. I found more depth playing harry potter new game. On a second note, I didn't observe noticeable ghosting in crysis.

Crysis looks great to me as long as I'm not looking at any water. The jungle scenes are amazing to me.
3Diskrad: If you want a really good game to demo, use Call of Duty 4. It works really well. The laser sight works in stereo (for the most part). One cool thing is that you can turn off the laser sight in CoD4 if you don't like it or think it gets in the way.
Make sure to look in the Stereo control panel for the best settings for this game. "3D Stereo Game Configuration" tab then on the "Game Name" pulldown.
For CoD4 they suggest bloom turned off and something else that I can't remember right now. DOF maybe?
