Failure of 3D Vision Setup with Viewsonic pj6221 cannot properly use 120hz native mode
Hi there,
Quite excited about the whole 3D experience i decided to buy a toshiba 3D Vision Laptop (Sattelite A660-3D in canada) and a 3d Vision compatible projector : Viewsonic PJD6221.
the setup was performing very fine on the toshiba native 120hz display.3D vision demo slideshow 3d rendering was perfect, NVIDIA 3D Vision player was playing my stereoscopic movies great....the troubles started when i tried to hook up the viewsonic projector on the VGA port of the notebook.
Windows 7 64 bits edition detects it as PNP Generic Monitor with 1024x768 and 800x600 resolutions up to 75Hz. i had to create a custom resolution from NVIDIA control Panel to make it work under 1024x768 resolution at 120Hz...it worked fine.
the real issue arrises when launching the 3D Vision setup for this display...first the setup itself is run under a crappy resolution at 640x480 74Hz. then the viewsonic PJD6221 is not detected (even if i upgraded it to latest firmware). i continue to go through the setup and once done i m able to launch the Test Stereoscopic option of the NVIDIA contral panel at the custom 120hZ resolution and the effect is great!!...But then when I start apps like 3d vision preview pack 1, i m back to the crappy 640x480 at 74hz and when watching movies with NVIDIA 3D Vision player in stereoscopic mode the i only get a black screen when switching from monoscopic (which plays fine) to stereoscopic. I used a clean install from scratch with the 3D Vision full CD for notebooks available from NVIDIA Website (300mb 260.89)
This has been a big investment for me and i chose a projected fully supported by NVIDIA. so why is my PJD 6221 not detected during the setup and why am i stuck with this awful 640x480 resolution at 74Hz for setup& preview and with black screen for stereoscopic player ?
I got my viewsonic pjd6381 working using CD 1.13, using generic crt.
i'm using full cd notebook 1.37
thank you guys but i thought that with new drivers released since then as pjd 6221 is officially supported by 3d vision, these would be solved...i use the original 6ft vga cable. also going back to previous versions will disable my ability to play 3d blurays...is there a way to manually force the default 3d vision config from 640x480-74hz to 1024x768-120hz ?
is nvidia answering these forums or do i have to write to them (which email address pls)?

Can you try installing the monitor drivers from Viewsonic for your projector? Viewsonic usually is good about providing .inf drivers for their displays on their website. Then try running the 3D Vision wizard once again.

thank you for answering promptly!
i downloaded the only available drivers which are designed for xp but they failed to install under windows 7 64 bits even following the vista instructions under the readme file (i tried both xp and xp 64).
is there a way to force 3d vision to default to the custom res i set up in nvidia control panel, ie 1024x768 120hz instead of 640x480 @ 74hz ? once again the stereoscopic test in the nvidia control panel works great and default to this resolution...why other apps like the 3d vision setup, 3d vision stereoscopic player and games preview slideshow embedded in 3d vision pack default to 640x480 74hz without any option to change that ?

i'm using full cd notebook 1.37
thank you guys but i thought that with new drivers released since then as pjd 6221 is officially supported by 3d vision, these would be solved...i use the original 6ft vga cable. also going back to previous versions will disable my ability to play 3d blurays...is there a way to manually force the default 3d vision config from 640x480-74hz to 1024x768-120hz ?
is nvidia answering these forums or do i have to write to them (which email address pls)?
thanks again for your help.

thanks again for your help.
i'm using full cd notebook 1.37
thank you guys but i thought that with new drivers released since then as pjd 6221 is officially supported by 3d vision, these would be solved...i use the original 6ft vga cable. also going back to previous versions will disable my ability to play 3d blurays...is there a way to manually force the default 3d vision config from 640x480-74hz to 1024x768-120hz ?
is nvidia answering these forums or do i have to write to them (which email address pls)?
thanks again for your help.

thank you for answering promptly!
i downloaded the only available drivers which are designed for xp but they failed to install under windows 7 64 bits even following the vista instructions under the readme file (i tried both xp and xp 64).
is there a way to force 3d vision to default to the custom res i set up in nvidia control panel, ie 1024x768 120hz instead of 640x480 @ 74hz ? once again the stereoscopic test in the nvidia control panel works great and default to this resolution...why other apps like the 3d vision setup, 3d vision stereoscopic player and games preview slideshow embedded in 3d vision pack default to 640x480 74hz without any option to change that ?
