Guide: How to Record 3D Vision (stereo) videos over Twitch.tv and how to watch them.
  2 / 2
Just tried watching one MP broadcast you've made. Quality is not top notch but clearly watchable. using livestreamer and stereoscopic player.
Yes, that's what I described as the limitations. Believe it or not that was at 720p /60fps & 3.5Mbit. I see ShadowPlay supports up to 5Mbits. I will try this evening with a 5Mbits rate and see if that produces better quality. Problem is that since is 1280x720 side by side half-width you basically get 640x720 image per eye:( So I think this is where most of the quality is lost... But big thanks for trying it out!;))

hi guys :) this looks pretty awesome i'd like to give it a try. I just clicked on the link from TsaebehT and I required absolutely no software of special setup whatsoever to view that side by side broadcast in 3d. just hit the sbs button on my 3dtv's remote.

Helifax can you please tell me how you broadcast in side by side format? mine is coming out interlaced. I want side by side so that people can at least try to see it without 3d or crosseyed. is it some NVidia inspector option? also, again, I didn't have to use any special software, patches, whatsoever to view the stream here: http://www.twitch.tv/helifaxwsgf/c/6193083 looks awesome in 3d! :)

Hey:) Well basically that is ShadowPlay who records it like that because I have 3D Vision enabled in the NVPanel. Are you using 3DTVPlay ? if it does it is possible that ShadowPlay doesn't record side-by-side in 3DTVPlay? (I am not familiar with 3DTVPlay :( ) But with regular 3D Vision (3D Vision Ready Monitor) + ShadowPlay I always get side-by-side output. Try to experiment a bit and see what works out for you:)

hmmm, not sure. I am using nvision + shadowplay as well. the "Enable Stereoscopic 3D" box is checked in the "Set up stereoscopic 3D" tab of the NVidia control panel. I am not sure where the settings are for output in shadowplay or anywhere else in order to experiment with different output formats. but I will continue to search and check back here, ty~

just out of curiosity, could anyone with a 3dtv/monitor check my twitch channel real quick to see if my interleaved format is working correctly? hit the 3d button on your tv remote and choose the horizontal lines format. http://www.twitch.tv/MatejaHunter oh and for some reason twitch is calling the game i'm playing dragon age inquisition because it somehow chose the name based on the NVidia inspector profile I switched it to, to try and get side by side (unsuccessfully). but the actual game is Final Fantasy XI Online. anyways, please let me know if my 3d is coming through if anyone could be so kind, ty! logging in now

yay! ^^ awesome. thank you for checking. I had noticed that the mouse cursor was being broadcast and hitting alt+f8 to reset the broadcast wasn't working so I shut down my computer. gonna log back in in a few mins. will probably be pretty boring for a while cuz I have to walk my dogs and i'm creating a new character for twitch lol. oyea and I noticed that clearing my cookies on my laptop reset the name of the broadcast back to 'final fantasy xi benchmark 3' (which is the 3d profile in nvdidia inspector I reverted backto/have it associated with to get it to run in 3d). any idea how I could change the name of the broadcast on twitch? ...although I guess that's one for the twitch forums lol. anywhoo, ty again so much for checking! :)

*update* so it suddenly occurred to me that I have another hdmi device to check my 3d twitch broadcast myself since nobody with a 3d monitor could click my twitch link here and check for 2 seconds... my ps4! well, it wasn't showing up properly. all I was getting was lines. THEN it suddenly occurred to me that twitch's highest quality is 720p. so I changed game's resolution to 720p and low and behold, the ps4's web browser actually showed 3d in my twitch stream (only the thumbnail video of course. the second I hit fullscreen all I see is lines. tried messing with scaling in NVidia control panel to no avail). no special configuration or anything. EXCEPT that now the 3d isn't coming through properly on my main computer/3dtv @ 720p ~_~ ... so it's either I see perfect 3d and my twitch stream gets lines, or I get lines and my twitch stream comes through in 3d . . . so. annoying.

Is there a way to stream in 2D but running in 3D vision? I have been trying to do with this with OBS Studio and the stream is flickering like crazy trying to render both images. It is capturing what the monitor sees which technically is correct but I was hoping for it to capture the game itself and not the 3d images. This probably isn't possible at all but had to ask here in case anyone still checks this thread. Thanks!!!

Haven't tried it, but it should work in theory;)

It does take a little practice. I haven't read about this being something unique to different people, it seems that if you can see 3D at all, you can do this.

Try this as the easiest way to see, minimal strain:
 1. Sit from your monitor at 24 inches away. Pretty normal viewing distance. (assuming monitor dpi is around 100)
 2. Hold your index finger up in front of you, between the two images at 9 inches away from your eyes.
 3. Concentrate only on the tip of your finger. You'll be crossing eyes, but it shouldn't be much strain.
 4. Keep focusing on your finger tip and let it happen.
 5. After awhile, you'll be able to see the triple image by sort-of peripheral vision.

The key is to not try to make it happen, just let your eyes get used to that, and it should pretty easily snap in where you will be able to see the monitor image too. There will be three images, left, right, and the combined center in 3D.

Try it with these known good images, that have modest convergence. Some images you see here on the boards are fairly extreme. Don't enlarge these, these are the right size for these parameters.
