I read on 3DVision-Blog.com back in mid-March that Nvidia had "upgraded" the 3D glasses with some minor tweaks (i.e. longer battery charge etc.) When I look online for a pair, for example at Amazon.com, I show the new reduced MSRP price of $119, but the model number seems to be the same as the old pair.
Any idea if these are in the channel yet? I want to make sure I'm buying a newer revision for my extra pair.

The only difference is that the new glasses are radio controlled instead of infrared. Also, those particular glasses are only available in the 3D Vision Pro kit.
Anything else is plain old 3DV glasses as far as I know.

They did NOT switch to RF, it is still IR...
IR blinks on and off to tell the glasses how to shutter, RF wouldn't be able to do that.

How is 3D Vision Pro different from 3D Vision?
While 3D Vision and 3D Vision Pro are both 120Hz active shutter glasses, the way they communicate between the glasses and computer are very different. 3D Vision use infrared light to control the toggling of the glasses, 3D Vision Pro uses 2.4GHz radio. The radio communication provides a few key features:
longer range -- up to 100ft
no line of sight requirement between the glasses and emitter -- great for multi-user power walls or auditoriums
bi-directional communication – installations can verify that the glasses are operating and see their battery levels
explicit connection between the glasses and the hub – for multi-user environments like studios or labs, 3D Vision Pro provides a robust connection between each user and their panel with no cross talk or interference

I bought the 3D Vision starter kit in mid-February this year, and an extra pair of glasses almost a month ago.
Is there any way I can tell if I got the older type (maybe left over stock from more than 6 months ago?) or the newer type with the RF? Is there a code in the serial number of each that will tell?

Hi
Let me be very clear. All of our glasses branded "3D Vision" are IR based. They do not support RF. Glasses branded "3D Vision Pro" are RF based.
You are likely still using "3D Vision" glasses.
Please check the inner temple on the left side, it should have a P number listed there. If it says P854, you have the newer glasses.

<3 thanks andrew! I have model P854! Woot! I bought my 3D Glasses in February, I was a bit miffed that you guys released a better version of the glasses. After reading the blurb of like 60 hours, I just realized it's May and i've only had to charge the glasses last week for the first time and wanted to make sure I had the new models :)
The $50 price drop on the other hand... yeah, i'm pretty sad about that. darn you guys!

We updated our glasses to have a new package and a new longer battery from the original model.
However, the extra glasses has already had the new battery as well for about 6 months.
