Battlefield 3 3DVision Benchmarks

At the very least this thread serves as a lesson to other potential 3D Vision users:

1) Do your research BEFORE you buy.
2) Temper your expectations accordingly.

That way you can avoid coming off as a misinformed, petulant child when 3D Vision fails to meet your expectations. BF3 isn't the first title to disappoint when it comes to 3D Vision support out-of-the-box, and it most certainly will not be the last either. /confused.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

At the very least this thread serves as a lesson to other potential 3D Vision users:

The PC gaming industry will abuse the laws in place to promote sales, regardless of any seemingly granted ethical observations.

I apologize if you don't like the way I (or others) have 'come off' to you in this thread, but violent, culturally contingent 'name calling' (i.e. dogmatic 'fear-mongering' via culturally persuasive language) is not going to deter me or anyone else who believes they have gotten the short end of the stick from attempting to receive some form of justice.

Your attitude concerning business ethics is old, tired and lazy.

Luc,

you're offensive and your attacks are uncalled for. Remember that your in an public place. If you want to shout at someone, then do it in private. If you do it in public, it only looks like you need to do that to improve your ego and to make you more important than you are.

Unfortunately what you believe is irrelevant because the laws in place and the EULA you agreed and consented to when you install the game clearly state the game is sold to you "As Is" (Section 6: http://eacom.s3.amazonaws.com/EULA_BF3_final2_8.29.11.pdf ). Simply put, if EA decided not to release a patch for 3D, they would not be obligated otherwise. Doesn't make it right, but important to know since those are the laws that are in place.

You did have the right to return the software if you felt it did not meet your expectations without 3D support, but once you agree to that EULA and fully install the game, you forfeit that right. At some point the end-user does need to do his/her due diligence to avoid any potential feelings of being cheated. In this case, if 3D Vision was the major reason for buying the game and you found out the game did not support it on Day 1, it would've been in your best interest to hold off on buying the game or to return it for a refund. This is the kind of decision every consumer needs to make at the time of purchase: if a product does not meet your expectations when you buy it, then don't buy it. If you do decide to buy it anyways...all bets and warranties are off unless explicitly stated otherwise.

Your attitude regarding consumer rights is equally old, tired and lazy because if you had simply expended a fraction of the energy you spent here doing your due diligence beforehand, you might've saved yourself a lot of grief and frustration. Important lesson for anyone interested in bleeding edge technology I guess.

Please Nvidia, fix the 3dvision, because it's clearly broken. If I can't apportion blame just because this product didn't meet my expectations then clearly, I, the poor naive consumer have been ripped off, it's someone else fault and I want someone to admit that it's all a complete scam.

Meanwhile, in the real world, it's important that all of us have a voice but life isn't a bed of roses and sometimes you just have to deal with it, grow up and move on.

Blah blah blah EULA agreement blah blah blah you're offensive Luc blah blah fanboy fanboy fanboy blah blah

Look, I LOVE my 3D Vision and use it whenever I can but you can't say there haven't been any 'Oops sorry!' moments with it's implementation. To say that its essentially the buyers own damn fault because they didn't do enough research on the game is kinda ignorant. I mean noticing that BF3 was listed as a 3D ready game on the website should be enough research right? How can you disregard their disappointment? I was pissed about The Witcher 2 because I couldn't play it in 3D until months after release even though 3D Ready was right there on the retail box. I am glad I was finally able to cause it's such a great game.
At the same time misguided anger directed at Andrew doesn't help anyone nor does it further Nvidia 3D Visions cause in providing a truly exceptional way to play our games.
I'd much rather it existed then not. Let's get after these Dev's and make sure we make ourselves heard!!
Can Nvidia be a little more accurate/forthcoming regarding 3D compatibility advertising/general post game release info? Probably.

I for one appreciate Andrew & ManuelG coming into these forums and giving us info and updates regarding the games I love but I still get pissed sometimes at the lack of it. For example right now I'm waiting on DICE to fix BF3's Surround problem (No enemy/friendly indicator tags). Still no word on when to expect a patch from them. How could I not be a little annoyed? I'd like to play my game in Nvidia Surround! Lol hell I wouldn't mind playing it in 3D too! Will the patch take care of both issues? I honestly don't know. Only DICE knows. When will the patch be released? Once again only DICE knows...all I'm asking for is a general idea when it'll be ready not a nailed down date. And if it gets delayed they say 'hey sorry patch delayed be out shortly.' But they don't. Sometimes I feel Nvidia is guilty of the same thing.

There has to be a better way then 'Yes we are implementing this this & this in our game but your gonna have to suck it until we can get it working properly'....

I understand that EA/DICE are the ones at fault. Does anyone have a link to an active forum or discussion on this hosted by EA/DICE? I cannot find anywhere to voice my complaint that is worth a damn.

Look, I know Andrew and Nvidia are not at fault and I understand the BS position they are in. However, this does not change the fact that it reflects poorly on Nvidia and 3d gaming in general. Here we are yet again as a small niche in the gaming community that should be standing together and instead are yet again torn apart.

Just mark it another sad day in the life of a 3d gamer. Nvidia (while not justified) looks like crap, EA/DICE and other game producers look turned off and like crap and most important to me - the 3d gamers themselves look like idiots with bigger wallets than brains.

Yay for another defeat in the 3d gaming community. :-/

Try Battlelog to voice your complaints but you'll have to shout to be heard since there are a lot of various complaints right now.

As for the rest of your post I could not agree more....it IS sad and I fear for the future of PC gaming let alone 3D Vision Surround....console gaming is where the money is at.

Andrew, bit disappointed because if you read through the lines I'm actually supporting you on this. Ok, my first paragraph was very heavy on the sarcasm, but the fact remains that I'm realistic about the whole thing. We're not going to get 100% perfect 3d every time, regardless of how 'big' the game is, but I for one can deal with that, think it's still money well spent and am grateful that you're active on the boards. Anyway, read it again and you'll see what I mean. Thanks!

We are just experiencing the growing pains of 3D (man its been a while though - I remember the ED and CRT days). Its on the way to being fully and always implemented (most game devs are doing it) so hang in there in 2 years hopefully it will be a non-issue.
At least they are trying to make games take advantage of 3D now, whereas before it was just a hack job (which ironically seemed to work better than now /confused.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> )

I guess Im not ranting cuz I could give a rats arse about Battlefield 8 or Call of Duty 12. But I can see why people are pissed.

Your attitude regarding consumer rights is equally old, tired and lazy because if you had simply expended a fraction of the energy you spent here doing your due diligence beforehand, you might've saved yourself a lot of grief and frustration. Important lesson for anyone interested in bleeding edge technology I guess.

Maybe so. My research before I purchased was to check in the Nvidia Control Panel, which told me that Battlefield 3 is "3D Vision ready". You're right, I should not have trusted Nvidia's declaration.

You are correct, there is a lot of frustration. Frustration that my money invested in a pair of GTX 570s, four pairs of glasses and emitter, $75 for PowerDVD capable of playing 3D seems to have been invested in a technology that isn't really catching on or doing that well.

Good Night all!

Blah blah ignorant blah blah disappointment blah blah

Ignorant would be buying a game expecting 3D Vision support without first verifying that's the case, then raging after the fact. I'm not disregarding their disappointment, I'm simply showing them how they can avoid this disappointment and frustration in the future. If 3D Vision is the primary factor in determining whether I will be satisfied with a game purchase, I'll wait until I've confirmed its 3D support meets my expectations.

I agree with the majority of what you say, which is again why rude and childish behavior from a few reflects poorly on the community as a whole. Who wants to help the annoying kid screaming and yelling at you demanding satisfaction? The fact of the matter is, no matter how much we spend on this technology individually, we still represent a fraction of the gaming community as a whole so while our individual stake and investment may seem like it deserves more attention than that of the masses, it really doesn't happen that way in reality.

Anyways, the Battlelog forums are a mess and its virtually impossible to monitor any thread there. I'm not sure if the devs are even monitoring them directly. The Get Satisfaction forums do seem to be monitored directly by the devs however, as a number of the recent Battlelog changes referenced Get Satisfaction threads. It'll be hard to get any traction though as the most popular threads have hundreds of +1s. Here's one I found, maybe we can get it noticed:

Also, if you know the dev responsible for stereo 3D's Twitter account, that may work also. The guy in charge of weapon design responds via Twitter pretty often. Personally, I don't expect to see a patch for 3D before the Back to Karkand DLC. If we're lucky we might see it sooner but I doubt it given all their updates so far have been server side and all of the big updates they've acknowledged seem to indicate a big patch along with B2K.

And has been explained numerous times now, the driver is 3D Vision Ready for Battlefield 3 based on the build Nvidia validated.

But yes, the lesson learned early on for any 3D Vision users is to see it with your own eyes before you believe, or buy anything. That's why this forum, along with countless other resources exist that offer S3D pictures and videos to allow you to view the content with your own eyes in 3D, before making any buying decision. There's 3D Vision Live, MTBS3D, 3D Vision Blog, 3Dizzy, Solutions Gaming, Youtube, and the various user threads here that can save you a lot of frustration.
