Your top 3 3D Games? Which are your 3 favourites?
  1 / 2
Just wondering what everyone's top 3 favourite games are in 3D, based on the 3D look, effects, experience etc. Oh and your allowed to mention 1 utility.
I would hate to feel I'm missing out on some really good ones....

Mine are:

3 Games:

1. MX V's ATV Unleased - (Superb 3D effect in 'Helmet Cam' mode, with tweaking of the settings, you get the feeling of being on the bike).

2. Painkiller - (Fantastic 3D models and animations, the blood spatter and body explosion effects in 360 3D is incredible to witness).

3. Lord Of The Rings - Return Of The King - (Almost perfect in 3D without any tweaks, and those animated 3D backgrounds in the distance really give you a sense of depth and amazing 3D)

Utility:

1. 3DMark03 - (The plane demo is the first thing I show my friends who come round to witness 3D for the first time, you should see their jaws hit the ground)

When it comes to 3D effect, look at:

1. FarCry (outstanding sence of virtual reality)
2. UT2004 (some framrate!)
3. CS Source (if is wasn't for that damn lasersight issue) /devil.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':devil:' />

had to add a few bubblers:

4. Trackmania Sunrise & Nations (out of the box!)
5. FEAR (poor framerate)
6. Tomb raider Legends (had to switch off the "extras")

I find that newer games has some compability problems or that the Stereo 3D drivers don´t keep up. Most "extras" in graphics don´t work in stereo, like HDR and such. Is this a bad trend for stereo 3D evolution? :mellow:

Well ParadiseDecay, when all of my games actually worked in 3d stereo when using 78.01, my top 3 would have been;

1) GTR (Full 3d stereo, in combination with the Trackir head motion simulator. Just awesome)
2) FarCry (Hyper reality)
3) Lock-On Air Combat Sim (flying 100 feet from a valley floor at mach 2, in true 3d.)

Now all I can do is fondly remenis. My top 3 titles that actually still work in 3d stereo using 91.28, are currently;

1) Freelancer (Just unbelievably good, the planets especially. Apollo astronauts as they approached either the moon or the earth would have been hard pressed to tell the difference. Solid looking 3d objects floating in space, quite amazing)
2) Nascar Heat (Top notch)
3) Star Trek Bridge Commander (Ditto)

Anybody familiar with 3d stereo realises the huge drain it can have on any system. I initially scoffed at the idea of using quad SLI, as being over-kill, but if those at Nvidia had enough marketing savy they'd sell Quad with Stereo 3d in mind to cater for a niche market, because that market definately exists. But of course, they don't actually have any marketing savy, as they don't read these boards to gauge public opinion. In the meantime, we're left with outdated stereo drivers or crappy betas to have to put up with, when they could potentially sell more cards for Quad, and improve the provision of 3d software for everbody else as a consequence. That of course would make too much sense.

I can't just pick 3, so I'll break it down to new and old.
for newer games in 3d I think Painkiller, COD2, Half Life2. For older games I would have to choose. Klingon Academy(not working with 91.28's), Comanche 4, Star wars rogue squadron. My favorite utility is a demo I had on my hard drive from when I had an ATI card called tresure chest.

I'm surprised these were not mentioned, because they are my favorites:

1) World of Warcraft (come on folks, best game ever, and looks great in 3D)
2) Dungeon Siege
3) Fate

But I played the Titan Quest demo, and pre-ordered the game - it should take the #2 spot I think. I might even put WoW on hold for a few weeks :)
