Why is 3D Vision not 3Way or Quad SLI supported and when does it happen?
Hey Guys, at first I want to say sorry for my bad english but I am not from the states. Does anyone of you know why a 3Way or Quad SLI Setup doesnt support playing games in 3D? For me that absolutely doesnt make sense. Exact for games u want to play in 3D you could need the power of a 3 or 4 gpu system. I bought 2 GTX 690 and have them running as a quad sli system allready, but as it seems its absolutely useless so i spend 900€ for nothing. 4k Monitors are way to expensive and the 30" 2500xblabla Monitors are definetely not made for gaming.

Well I don't know why. I assume it must be something to do with driver optimisations and maybe Nvidia think it's not worth the effort for the number of people that have 3 or 4 way SLI. Also there are diminishing returns in most SLI systems so maybe there is a design reason why it won't work. Massive shame though and it's a big missed opportunity for them as far as I'm concerned. They would definitely sell more hardware if it was supported. I'd buy another card for a start!

Well you kind of already wasted your money because 4 GPU's will never work together outside of benchmarks. You'll likely get better framerates by taking the second card out in alot of games, hence Nvidia only quoting cards supporting 3 way SLI, even though 4 'works'. But the reason it doesn't work is because it would be pretty complicated. SLI renders alternate frames, in 3D, you show the same frame twice from a different angle, so if you have a 3 way SLI setup, what does what?
