Look, Nvidia crippled themselves with this from the beginning by restricting monitors to zalman. I know most advances started small like other products.
Windows if you are old enough to remember started small. But half the world doesn't even know that stereo 3D Exists! How is it going to advance?

Nvidia has been producing S-3D drivers as a standard service for its GPUs for years. This is a new development brought on by a new proprietary S-3D product which in turn was brought on by S-3Ds small but significant edging into mainstream.
For the record, many other proprietary S-3D products have had a positive impact on the community.

Like I said, I apologize, I didn't know all the facts going into this and I'm sorry I brought this huge flame war in here, like I said though, contact Nvidia about it. RIOT outside their headquarters. Switch to ATI. Write to your Senator, call them up and yell at them, start a thread on ATI Forums as well, or on OC.N, there are plenty of places to drum up support.
I really do apologize, it was not my place to say anything without knowing ALL the facts.
And thank you, regulars, for your support and what not, but I am done in this thread. I have said my piece, apologized for the dickheadedness of it, and now I rest my weary head of it.
And in response to the "living in the stone-age comment", maybe that is true, but it least it works and I'm not getting shafted with sketchy driver support or being FORCED into using a certain monitor, but I understand your troubles and I think I know slighly how you feel.
In all honesty fellahs, good luck with your 3D-S, it sounds intriguing to say the least, although with all the issues I read about on these forums, I don't think it's for me.

Thanks man, that is the kind of support we look for on non S3D gamers. We don't see you as inferior or ignorant gamers just because you are happy with the way you play games.
We decided upon the path of S3D and there are some obstacles, but when we do get a game going in S3D it's really an extreme experience. NVidia has given support for us gamers in the past, they released two driver revisions with 2 years of "development" in between. We didn't expect NVidia to give us 100% compatibility, just to continue the lesser support from before and fromt ime to time request for upgrades.
We all make choices, and in that respect that is what makes us unique. I have no trouble talking with someone that thinks different than me and I even respect their choices (like you clearly do). I just wish that there was a way for people who are happy with their current experience, to be able to grab either an HMD, a 3DTV, CRT+shutterglasses or even red/blue glasses; and play just a game or two of the list of games that work. Then after being blown out or not, then decide if S-3D is great for them. That's all I ask for, for people to experience to really let them decide. When you play rally/racing games, tomb raider, FPS or an RTS for the matter, it really changes the immersiveness in the game.
You don't have to apologize and leave. What I meant in my first post is that it is better to just respect our choice of petitioning/rioting/ etc and maybe follow the post while commenting on you POVs; there is nothing wrong with that. We can all be a community with just a little respect. That's all.

I agree with the petition to NVIDIA just to carry on what they started...the VERSATILE Stereo-3d revolution!
I wasn't happy sitting alone in front of my little 21" monitor with shutterglasses. Anaglyph worked in projection and my friends could enjoy too. But NVIDIA offered more...dual display clone mode. I opted to invest (i.e. blow too much money) in better projection stereo. I have two projectors, polarizing equipment, expensive 50' DVI cables, many sets of glasses and a silver screen. $$$Thousands spent, all because NVIDIA made it possible (at first we had to "hack" into early drivers to enable unsupported features!!!).
Now that support may be gone? I just wasted $300 on an 8800 GT card and another 100 hours to try to figure out why I couldn't get the stereo to work (it doesn't was the answer). Then why are there stereo options in the driver...just to make me waste a helluva lot of time trying to activate the stereo?
Anyway...we all lament....remember the good old days when NVIDIA supported stereo? What most people call 3d is not...it's an illusion of 3d. Only stereoscopic viewing is true 3d. I'll be reinstalling my 6800 GT card soon.

In all honesty fellahs, good luck with your 3D-S, it sounds intriguing to say the least, although with all the issues I read about on these forums, I don't think it's for me.
