Hey to you guys with 3D dropping out.... You aren't running 3D mode with Nvidia FXAA or DSR on are you? Sure enough I played around to try and break 3D and it did when I turned on Nvidia FXAA. 3D broke up every 15 minutes and shaders and shadows start to break also. I'm using driver 350.12
So if I wanted to give it a try what did I have to do to enjoy this game in beautiful 3D. Is it only the page-file that needs to be set? Since GTA has built-in 3D and there is no fix on helix-blog there is nothing that needs to be done for proper 3D, right!? I know the info that I am seeking can be found within this thread but honestly maybe someone can give me a very short summary of what needs to be done to enjoy GTA in glorious 3D and save me the countless hours it would take me to inspect 65! thread pages. thanks in advance...
The short answerl is sadly there is currently no fix for 3D as of yet. There are numerous things you can do to extend play time but eventually the game will crash anyway. At most people have been able to run it for a few hours in 3D. For me, I can only manage 30 minutes at most. I can, however, play the game in 2D without any crashing which I guess is lucky as some people have reported crashing even in 2D. My personal opinion would be to not play the game first until 3D is fixed as 3D for this game is excellent. One of the best IMHO. For the short time it does work that is. Play other games first. 3D Vision users are known for their patience. It seems to be a requirement if you wanna experience the best gaming has to offer.
So to recap, the only thing you can do right now to slightly improve things: 1) Set pagefile large, like 20G. 2) Lower settings, especially texture quality. 3) No extended view distance. 4) Lower the variety of cars and people. (fewer textures)
Hey, they fixed the "said" ;-) @bo3b, thank you very much for the recap. Also note latest, 355.60 drivers. I skimmed through kinda fast, but there was some discussion on turning off the "shader cache" in the NV control panel. Was this worthy? Obviously, I can try, but what was your observation on that part? I'll be doing surround, so I'll have to knock back some of the detail anyway. I have 4 large mem sticks, so will be interesting to test with that, then add a large pagefile. I appreciate all the efforts. I get a couple weekends of game time coming. I have to check out Crysis 3 too :-) Thanks guys!! I think this will just defer the crash as it leaks memory, but if it defers it long enough for you finish your session, that's probably good enough.

@ bo3b, the 56 GB did not help me. I got after around 15 minutes. I will turn down the graphics, as you mentionned in a previous post, and hope that it will be sufficient to finish my session.

Update: I think that I finally found my setup that let me play for hours. In two runs for each around three hours (missions) I had no single crash. What did I do: *355.60 driver (newest) installed (DDU of course) *Page file: min 28 GB and max 56 GB (play it on a Samsung SSD) *decreased a bit the graphic settings (very important - but here you have to find your on way) *my Titan X is overclocked with +16 MHz (base and memory - but no influence I suppose) *Chrome is off when I play For the rest I have no idea. It my be just a coincidence. But for my part it seems to work now very good. So happy. Best game ever.

@mrorange55: Awesome! Glad to hear you are getting it to play nice at least for long enough to play. When it's working it's really, really impressive. Seems like we might actually have a confluence of events that makes this actually playable now. It's been working pretty well for me as well, as long as I use giant page file + lower textures. Grass can be set higher in SLI, with latest driver. Pretty sure this is still not a 100% solution, because I think it's still leaking memory. So you can expect to crash still, but it should play long enough to not be completely game-breaking. If you are paranoid, be sure to save after a mission, and reload there to release all the leaked memory.

@Clammy, he probably means Google Chrome is closed. This is because Chrome tends to use a lot of memory.
