3D vision using quadro 4000 card displayport No option to switch to 120 HZ !!
They are expensive but is there anyone out there that can CONFIRM that this DIsplay-Port DVI D DUAL LINK adaptor works? I am facing the same issue when I am trying to hook up a Notebook with only Display Port to a Samsung 120 Hz monitor... Nvidia cant find 120 hz settings but 3D Vision (lets call it Pro with USB driver to emitter ;-)) works but only in 60Hz... There's a Quadro FXxxxM card in there...

You should check the specifications of the display port on the graphics card you have. All display ports are not same. Make sure it support 120Hz output.

Ok, just did a quick check at Nvidia pages but cant find specification going that into details specifying refresh rates.
HP EliteBook 8540w with a NVIDIA Quadro FX 880M if anyone knows where to find those Nvidia Fx M specs... thanks!

Based on the nvidia website links quadro fx 880m does support 3D vision pro which means it should be able to output at 120hz.

So most probably displayport will support 120Hz output. May be someone who has tried can tell you for sure. If no one has tried then probably it will be a good idea to get a displayport to dual link dvi adaptor from a store with a good return policy and give it a try yourself. You can return it if it does not work. Most probably it will.

Nope just"old" VGA port together with the Display port... it works with 3D Vision with USB emitter (openGl) from Displayport but only in 60Hz. No way I can find and force 120 Hz settings. I just want to see if anyone tried with the more expensive Displayport to DVI-D dual link adapter (the one with USB power feed). That might solve the problem, the other way would be to go docking station with DVI-D output... Cost is same...

I realize this thread is pretty old but I am curious if this issue was ever resolved? Did anyone buy and test a usb-powered dual link dvi-to-displayport adapter? It seems that the 3D Vision laptops only come with GeForce cards and the laptops using quad-buffering Quadro cards don't have video outputs that support 120Hz refresh rates. FYI, the specs on the Accell adapter specifically says "**This adapter does not support 120Hz 3-D stereo display." I couldn't find a vertical refresh rate for the Startech DP2DVID or Bizlink adapters. I did find a Philips DisplayPort cable that advertized "true 120Hz refresh rate" and one at CablesToGo that does the same, so maybe....?????

The DisplayPort web site's FAQstates:
Q. What are some examples of where high performance is important?
A. DisplayPort’s high performance is important for enabling new digital display experiences. For example, DisplayPort can easily support high end monitors featuring 2560 x 1600 resolution at 60Hz refresh rate and 10 bits per color, 1920 x 1200 resolution at 120Hz refresh rate, and Full HD monitors at 1920 x 1080 resolution and 60Hz refresh rate at 12 bits per color without latency, all over standard cables. In addition, DisplayPort enables long cable support, up to 15 meters, enabling a much anticipated easy plug and play digital experience with projectors. With DisplayPort, high performance is standard.

In theory at least, the goods are there. I'm not smart enough to know why the implementation seems not to work however and am still waiting too hear if someone has used 3D Vision over Displayport for confirmation.
