Assassin's Creed III - Will it work?

....better than nothing indeed. But as soon as you witnessed the HMZ-T1/HMZ-T2 with cranked up depth and especially cranked up convergence (not possible on PS3) there is no going back to that ugly PS3-3D. It's not only a quality difference. Because of the adjustable convergence it is another dimension in terms of 3D-gaming. It would be no exaggeration to say that PS3-3D on the HMZ is gaming with a little depth while a potent PC in conjunction with the HMZ-T1/T2 with nice depth/Convergence-configuration is definitely more than just gaming. The experience is more like actually being in that specific game-world. The experience is so immersive that I even sent back my 3 X 27" Full HD 3D Vision Surround Setup because in the end I liked the total immersion of the HMZ-T1/T2 better!

Anyone tried to use another profile with this game ¿?... maybe halos can be fixed with a profile (for example with Prototype 2 - prototype2.exe profile).

I just noticed in Gamespy's "Port Authority" article (published today) on upcoming Ubisoft's Far Cry 3 that though primarily designed for DX11 they state that it does have the option to chose to render in DX9 mode as well. Which, is great if there are any S3D problems for fixing via Helix DX9 wrapper. Gosh, I sure wish Ubisoft had also included that option to utilize either DX11 or DX9 in AC3.

@chiz1: In the "pre-Helixmod-era" we could "fix" some games by turning off disturbing effects (shadows, bloom, etc.) in the ini-files of the game to make it at least playable. Did You check if there is an ini-file that allows to change graphic settings?

Yesterday i try at least 6 or 7 differents profiles with none positive results, i think DX11 games handles profiles in a total different way than DX9 games (i have to do a little more research on that). Turning Shadows (in-game config) to "normal" (its the lowest) don't help......whatever configuration you change the games looks like crap. It's sad because the game looks beautiful 1080p 2D all max out + TXAA, this game have to be played in 3D.....pass 20 seconds had to leave the game, impossible to me to play this in 2D. Today i will search for some ini or config files....if is possible to tweak something....BTW the Halo problems is produced by lights effects.

For AC1 and AC2 there was a file Assasin..ini in /Users/Username/AppData/Roaming/Ubisoft/Assassin's Creed ... But whereas AC1 offered many tuning possibilities in this file they were already quite reduced for AC2 :(

@DHR: I too tried quite a few different profiles and none helped. The only .ini file I could fine was "Assassin3.ini" located in Users\My Documents. Oh well, guess I'm going to put this game aside and hope a fix can be found. I agree, it begs to be played in S3D and like you, I can't play it in 2D. BTW, I have not played AC2. Should I get AC2? Does it look good in S3D? Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't AC2 have pretty bad DRM?

I remember I tried with either AC2 or ACB and inputting the same settings from AC1's INI but no effect, since that method of inserting settings does work for other game engines like UE3 titles. Still, I think there would be very limited success in turning off some features to fix 3D anomalies because a lot of the effects are conditional, for example, I don't think we can just turn off shadows to fix the problem because the lighting and shading for the entire scene is a result of a DX11 feature (Global Illumination). I think the guy who worked on the first Deus Ex: HR fix, rajkoderp, was saying similar and that was another DX11 title but I may be wrong.

Its an awesome game, I'd say the first in the series that really bring about the modern amenities we see in all the more recent titles. As Joohan said, I do believe they disabled the "always-on" DRM with a Uplay update, so you should now be able to go offline and save offline, you just won't get achievements while offline. There's really no reason not to play the game atm, it's still fantastic.

Out of curiosity:) Has anyone tried to play with nvidia Inspector and change the game profile? (aka renaming exe filename) I remember that alot of games during initial release had issues like this..and changing the game profile sometimes gives better results:) I dont have the game yet...Steam in UK doesn't have it...for some weird reason... but try and see if you can improve the 3D-ness of the game using this method

I can't believe how ridiculous that is. They don't implement a major feature into the Singleplayer which now prevents a lot of people from buying this game and instead they put that major feature into the multiplayer of a mainly SINGLEPLAYER franchise.......

http://driversnest.com/guides/assassins-creed-iii-force-game-to-run-in-directx-9-mode-guide.html Apparently, you can force dx9 for singleplayer in this game. I don't own this game. Would someone be so kind and try this in the singleplayer and report back on the 3D vision effect? If all is well, I will probably buy this one. Thanks!
