Checkerboard Rocks.
[s]Just tried out checkerboard and its performance is very choppy for some reason, vs. being silky smooth in 720p. Looks all blurry and shimmery too. The 12% more pixels to render doesn't explain the choppiness, it seems like its something something else. Anyone experience anything like this before?[/s] Ok, i was about to type that, trying to give checkerboard one last test before i chucked it out the window. Yet again, i tried Eqzitaras tip on removing the skyrim's .exe from the profile in Nvidia inspector and DAMN.... Now the motion is better and it isn't blurry as hell anymore. Some people are going to laugh when I say this, but Checkerboard is freakin underrated! Where the hell is Roller? I need to tell him he was wrong, its way BETTER than SBS, by a mile. Roller was pretty much right tho, CB is a great solution. He also said it was like 1080p, he was sorta right on that too. I sold my VG278H out awhile ago, preferring 720p on the big screen. Especially after using another 2012 3DTV with great motion, brightness and input lag, etc. However, checkerboard on a bigscreen really takes the crown, easily, and like Roller, i don't think i can recommend anything else but a 46"'ish CB 3DTV if its in your price range. 2011 Samsungs are probably cheaper than the 2012s now and some of them are reviewed to have less crosstalk than the 2012s. I hope Roller sees this, he deserves praise for sticking up for CB, and an apology from me.

Back when I a Passive LG 3D HDTV, I played Avatar in checkerboard and loved it. I was very disappointed that Nvidia would not support it via Checkerboard or Line Interleaved. It would kinda work with Roller's EDID override, but had an annoying color bug. I just wish that Projector manufacturers would have released some 1080P models that supported it, since they can't seem to figure out how to put a DVI Dual Link connection on anything under 15K

I'd love to try it but sadly my 2011 43" Sammy only supports SBS/TB. 1080i/24FPS looks way better than the 720P60FPS but that's only if your toon is standing still. (24FPS really sucks otherwise) If they ever give us 1080P60FPS3D over HDMI I'll be one of the 1st to run out and buy one.

I play on a 65" Mitsubishi DLP and I can't rave about it enough. It's an older 3D ready model, '09 I think, and later on I had to buy a 3D adapter for it to support 'standard' 3D, SBS, all the while it 'secretly' had the better 3D locked away by 'standards'. It wasn't until I started researching 3D PC gaming and 3D Vision that I realized it's potential to break the 720p60/1080p24 barrier with checkerboard 3D. With decent DLP-Link glasses I don't get any noticeable crosstalk whatsoever on what I'd imagine are extremely demanding games, such as Alan Wake and the Dead Space series. Recently, I bought the Sony PS3 3D Monitor dirt cheap, $100 with game & glasses, and when I tried a few games on it the crosstalk was imo terrible, considering I had already played these games with zero crosstalk already. Needless to say I returned it. I'll still b-tch and moan about having to buy an emitter I didn't even need BUT in the end it was well worth it. :D

Yes, check it out if your Samsung 3DTV doesn't support frame sequential mode by renaming the HDMI/DVI input label to PC, so you can play games with best 3D quality (full resolution per eye) and still get 30fps per eye, which is more suitable for gaming than lame 24fps provided by 3DTV Play. I am playing Dead Space 3 (with Helix fix) in stunning 3D using my Samsung Plasma C7000 63" 3DTV (2010 model) using FS 3D mode 1080p30hz = 30fps and the experience has been amazing cause the 3D in a bigger screen is really immersive. I do have to deal with heavy ghosting as my 3DTV is one of the 1st models and it really suffers from heavy ghosting for 3D games. At least 3D is perfect for bluray3D and most SBS movies I've watched, but for 3D gaming, there's a lot of ghosting in darker/high contrast scenes. I find frame sequential mode perfect for 3D games, since 1080p30hz is quite playable for many games, and it's full resolution per eye, not half like Checkerboard. I do agree that some games are only playable at 60fps, so in this case you need CB.

Their IP protected, their technology usable by everyone...

@francomg How do i enable Frame Sequential from windows? (Nvidia, TriDef?) i only see checkboard and 3DTV play in my nVidia 3D tab so is this setup somewhere else? i assume i still have to set my TV label to PC and then select Frame Sequential? I will checkout tonight if that option is there, i know there are several to choose from. I have read that the Sammy ES8000 can do frame seq so i am dead keen to try this out. some games would really benefit from crisp full 1080p even though its 30fps per eye.
