290.36: mini-DP -> DL-DVI adapter -> Asus Vg278h Stuttering occurs when output 3d to mo
Hi there, I just got a brand new Asus vg278h lightboost 3dvision 2 monitor that I love.
I have an alienware M17X R3 3d... This laptop has mini DP.
I'm using a proper Dl-DVI adapter that is 330 hz, designed for output of 3d to a monitor from mini DP.

With the 285.79 drivers getting 3d to the monitor through the DL-DVI adapter works great, no problems at all.

Once the 290.36 drivers are installed the 3d output to the monitor now STUTTERS every 3-4 sec.

Thus I have gone back to the 285.79 drivers.
I know that the new 290.36 drivers have DP 1.1 support now for the new BenQ DP monitors coming out soon.

I hope this is a problem that can be adressed as I know many people that use a DL-DVI adapter to output to a monitor.

Please help and please fix. Having new DP support is great but what about people who dont have DP monitor and still want to use 3d on their DL-DVI 3D monitor.

Andrew!
Thanks for the reply. I have been a little anxious about this whole deal beacuse I spent $200 + shipping on the adapter and $900 on the monitor. I just hope that I didnt make a mistake and not wait for the DP supported BenQ monitor. That monitor only comes in 24" and I wanted a 27" thus I went with the Asus vg278h.

Remember with the 285.79 drivers the Asus monitor and the Dl-DVI adapter work perfect in 3d mode from my alienware m17x r3... not a problem at all.

Once the 290.36 are installed there is a stutter every 3-4 seconds and also a sound associated with it when outputting 3d to the monitor. When Playing in 3d just on my alienware its fine... therefore I believe it has to do with the mini dispalyport support that the 290.36 drivers have.

The DL-DVI adapter is http://www.club-3d.com/index.php/products/reader.en/product/mini-displayport-to-active-dual-link-dvi-i-cable.828.html

Thanks again for the help /smile2.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':))' />)))

Another bit of information for you.

I installed 290.36 one more time and hooked up my Asus vg178h vis HDMI and tried the 3d. I worked just fine.

The problem arises when I output 3d from my laptop through the DL-DVI adapter via mini DP... only when using 290.36.

I reverted to 285.79 and the 3d works fine over HDMI and mini DP through the DL-DVI adapter.

Therefore I believe its the addition of native DP 1.1 support in the 290.36 drivers.

Thanks, looking forward to hearing from you.

Anyone?? Please this is important... because this may mean I have to rturn my monitor and be forced to get a DP monitor.

Help! I'm also having this exact issue, even on 311.83 drivers (I have an ASUS GTX Geforce 770M so ASUS-specific drivers are a bit outdated). The only thing that's different for me is that I'm using an ASUS laptop with mini-DP and a cheaper active adapter that's dual-link capable at 120Hz.

I really invested in the wrong adapter then? The adapter I did get was one from here: http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?p_id=6904 I got this one because it was cheap compared to other active adapters, and had good spec details available, and it works fine for 120Hz 2D display. I did see adapters available from club3D before, but it doesn't look like they're based in the US as they don't have buy locations here where I live. It's funny that they have buy locations in places like Pakistan however...

Update: So now I updated to Windows 8.1 and as a result my Nvidia drivers got updated to 327.02. Now, it seems the IR emitter doesn't even activate at the top of the VG278H monitor. The light doesn't come on at all telling me the 3D is working. When I attempt to run 3D, screen shows what appears to be Anaglyph 3D images at 120Hz. This would be fine except that I invested a good amount in this monitor which supports Active Shutter 3D with IR glasses. I would really appreciate it if someone could help with this.
