3D Vision vs Tridef & IZ3D Comparison and ideas for improvement
1 / 2
Hello all,
I am a bit upset lately with the "3D Vision" solution. I spent the money on a GTX590; 3x120HZ monitors + 2 pairs of glasses to use 3D Surround. But it seems that almost all of the latest games don't work good (or at all) with 3D Vision.
Now I understand how 3D Vision works (the auto-stereo process and how the view matrix, pixel shaders, etc influences this) andd I agree is the best and correct way of creating true 3D. But unfortunately, very few software programmers make their games in "true" 3D (lack of time or interest). Because of this we have artifacts and other wrong stuff.
Now what I want to speak is about Tridef and IZ3D, as they seem to have found a way with their "virtual 3D" (which I think is not true 3D as nVidia does it) to play almost any game in 3D.
So I want to ask the community: Is there a way to use Tridef with nVidia Glasses? (I know about the older IZ3D version and how to use it with 3D Vision).
I want to ask nVidia (ManuelG, Andrew) why don't you guys implement the same option to 3D Vision? It is us the user who has to suffer (the current users), the potential customers who if they want to test will see all the anomalies, nVidia since the sales are not going up and the whole 3D technology on PC as many already say it's a gimmick because few games are actually done in real 3D (most developers don't care to code properly in 3D) and they don't care since they don't see any impact in the market or even if they test it....
So, If any of us(users) knows how to try/make Tridef to work with 3D VIsion shutter glasses please respond (send a PM or something as it is not legally to post here about this type of stuff).
nVidia if you can provide a feedback on the above question it would be awesome. At least try and forward the idea to the 3D Vision Pillar manager:) I think it will benefit everyone in the longer term.

Hi, you can use tridef with 3Dvision at the moment(hope nvidia do not block this) and use nvidia glasses, you just start game with Tridef igniniton and it will disable 3Dvision(hide stereocopic effect when game starts). There is tridef trial so you can test it. I played Crysis 1 and Dead island with Virtual 3D and it's quite good most of the time. Only big issue for me is that auto depth control thing, i hope there will be way to manually adjust it. It is good most of the time. It's better then Crysis 2 ingame 3D...

Ok can anyone tell us how we can use Tridef with nVidia shutter glasses?:) I am curious about different stuff:
- Can it run on SLI?
- Can it run on multiple monitors aka Surround?
- What settings do I need to hava in DDD Ignition in order for 3D Vision glasses to kick in...etc?

No SLI support for either IZ3D or DDD and both require you to purchase additional software, so not really an appealing option for me atm. If DDD were able to fix their SLI support I'd look into it as a supplementary option as their Virtual 3D mode would be great for titles that didn't work well with 3D Vision. Ideally Nvidia just licensed or implemented this technology themselves.

The virtual 3d-mode certainly isn't without faults though. It only works decent at low depth and without popout or closeups. Another game which works better in virtual 3d-mode compared to "true-3d" is crysis since it suffers a lot from artifacts of different kind.

Just install tridef ignition trial which lasts 14 days. Choose the appropiate display. In my case (Alienware optx aw2310) I chose direct3d 120hz. Usually games with profiles included in the software work best. Something to notice is that triple screens nor SLI are supported by tridef.

How are you able to use hdmi 1.4 with Tridef? As far as I know you had to select the HD3D option. I am unable to test since I have a dlp projector atm. I plan to get an hdmi 1.4 device please get back to me.
It support all hdmi 1.4 tvs with a nvidia card too, so talking about support Tridef can be used in any 3dtv whith nvidia or ati card, maybe thats low support...
