BRING BACK THE DEPTH!
  1 / 2
Haha

Who's with me! We want our depth back! Or at least some "Expert" settings where those who are familiar with 3D can at least get full control over the level of depth we want because it feels like Ive lost 90% of it. I have to dial the depth to 100% and its still not where I want it to be.

so.... does everyone feel the same? Expert settings?

Damo,

What settings are missing that you want? Can you describe what level of control you want? Its not out of the question, we would just like to understand what you want.

I second that! It would be nice if there were an easy option in the Nvidia control panel to increase depth even more. The manual way is by just decreasing the monitor size value in the registry; I usually cut it in half (value: 16 hex / 22 decimal), which doubles the max depth setting. That would be a great setting to put in the advanced options box.

Seriously I can't fathom how you guys want more than 100% depth as currently available. LOL I go cross-eyed at anything above ~60%.

Just goes to show different peoples' brains interpret stereo 3d data differently. You & I are clearly not seeing the same thing.

hahaha

some funny responses!

I want more depth because again I am using a big projector and the depth just isnt there. I didnt know about the manual way, I'll look into it, but having an "expert" check box that just allows you to have as much depth as you want would be nice, but now seems unnecessary since I can manually do it.

Ill try that out tonight.
hahaha

Also keep in mind that the registry setting resets itself sometimes. Because of that, I just made a .reg file with that setting in it and stuck it on my desktop so I can re-enter the setting with a simple double-click.

Yeah Im not so good with the registry stuff. How do you create one of those? Maybe you could send me yours and I could adjust that?

Open notepad and paste the following into it, then save it with an extension of .reg (i.e. increase_depth.reg):

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\NVIDIA Corporation\Global\Stereo3D]
"MonitorSize"=dword:00000016

When that is saved, you can just double click on it and it will enter the information back into your registry. The setting I entered there will double the max depth value for 3D Vision.

The problem with the separation setting is the upper limit. For most games it's sufficient but for some the max allowed setting simply is insufficient. You can not get an adequate separation. The convergence setting does not suffer from this problem since it is "open ended".

The trick with the monitor size registry hack mentioned previously works, but I really think there should be an official way to have full control over the separation.

Btw, the old nVidia stereo driver did not have this problem, like the convergence the separation adjustment was open ended, so this is a newly created problem.

Agreed, thats what an "Expert" checkbox could do, just give an unlimited depth amount. Is there still a monitor size slider? I didn't see it.

Also, I know that someone once found some registry keys to mess with the sync timing. I could actually use those settings now to try to get rid of some blue ghosting. But then again, my projector seems to be all messed up anyhow.
