3D Vision is not recognized on my computer/control panel 3D Vision is not installing properly
PLEASE HELP! 3D Vision is not recognized on my computer/control panel.

My setup:
Toshiba Qosmio X505 with a 360m
ViewSonic PJD6531w WXGA Wide DLP Projector

First I would like to say that I have had 3D Vision working for quite some time. I updated my computer with the BETA drivers (275.27) in order to get Youtube videos to play in the browser. After this the Stereoscopic option was taken out of control panel and “Enable 3D Vision” and “Disable 3D Vision” were no longer listed under All Programs in the Start menu.

I uninstalled all of the Nvidia drivers and have tried reinstalling (all at different times):
Win7/WinVista 64-bit: 270.61 Driver
Win7 64-bit: 267.76 Driver w/ 267.76 3D Vision Controller Driver
WinVista 64-bit: 266.58 w/ 266.58 3D Vision Controller Driver

It always says that it installs correctly, but then it acts like 3D Vision is not on the computer.
Also, the 3D Vision emitter is lit up green until I start the 3D Vision Video Player and then the light just turns off.
I thought it might be a registry issue so I used CCleaner to clean my registry, still didn’t help.
Wasted my Memorial Day weekend trying to get this to work. PLEASE HELP.

Cmon, 65+ people have viewed this and no one has any idea why the 3D vision drivers are not showing up or something I can do about it. I need my 3D fix.

Thanks, I tried that, and was able to get the Enable and Disable 3D Vision back under "All Programs", but the "Stereoscopic" option still does not appear in the control panel (so I can't setup 3D Vision).

I contacted Nvidia today about it, and they spent a couple of hours trying to get it to work and said they have never seen anything like this before.

Which I am a bit surprised about because all it is, is that the control panel is not recognizing that the 3D Vision drivers have been installed.

1) Make and model of notebook
ASUS G53JW-3DE

2) NVIDIA GPU model
GeForce GTX 460M

3) What 3D mode are you trying to use (3D Vision/3D Vision Discover/3DTV Play)?
3D Vision
4) Are you using internal LCD panel that supports 3D Vision or external 3D Vision monitor? If external, please provide the monitor make and model and how it is connected (DVI to DVI, DisplayPort to DVI, DisplayPort to HDMI, HDMI to HDMI).
Internal. I noticed though that the monitor shows as "Generic PnP Monitor" in Device manager,
and when trying to enable 3D I saw the message once saying "this panel is not eligible for 3D"
or something similar. Could it be that the NVidia driver looks at the monitor's max frequency
and if the driver reports below 120Hz then 3D gets disabled? Unfortunately couldn't find the native LCD
monitor driver from ASUS. Perhaps this would be the way to repro the problem,
to change the monitor driver to Generic.

5) Device ID of GPU. To get the Device ID of your GPU, please do the following:
-Open your Windows Device Manager
-Double-click on the "Display Adapters" icon
-Right-click over the icon for your NVIDIA GPU
-Select "Properties"
-From the Properties window, select the "Details" tab
-From the drop down "Property" box, select "Hardware Ids"
-Copy the first line shown and paste it into your report. It would look something like this:

PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0DD1&SUBSYS_20431043&REV_A1

Acer Aspire 5750G i7 Quad core laptop
Windows 7, SR1, 64bit
NVidia GT540M Graphics card
Stereoscopic 3D control panel has never been shown as an option, even though for all other functions the graphics card and software has worked perfectly.
External emitter built into Viewsonic V3D245 monitor
Setup meets all requirements, Monitor is one of the latest 120Hz 3D model with inbuilt NVidia emitter and 3D Vision glasses included and the TV with kit is even advertised by Nvidia:
http://www.nvidia.co.uk/object/buy-3d-monitors-uk.html
http://www.nvidia.co.uk/object/3d-vision-requirements-uk.html
http://www.nvidia.co.uk/object/3d-vision-notebook-driver-uk.html

Have tried both express and advanced, both with and without clean install, uninstalling and rebooting between installations. Drivers installed on the laptop pc include NVIDIA 3D Vision Controller Driver 285.62, NVIDIA Graphics Driver 285.62, NVIDIA PhysX System Software 9.11.0621, NVIDIA Update 1.5.20.
Only options displayed in NVIDIA Control Panel:
3D Settings, Adjust image settings with Preview, Manage 3D Settings and Set PhysX configuration.
Video, Adjust video colour settings and Adjust video image settings.
No options for stereoscopic 3D settings which are essential to control the monitor and make 3D Vision work with the supplied stereoscopic 3D type glasses whether used for gaming, media software, which I also have Roxio Creator 2012 Pro which is also listed as compatible, or via blu ray.

Ok if anyone is still having this problem here's what I did to get 3D vision back in the control panel. I did use the method posted here until the 320 drivers came out then it stopped working http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=201470. If you have not tried this yet then do so because my solution basically takes it one step further. It's messy and I don't recommend doing it but if your desperate try this. The Problem: After a fresh driver install the NVidia Control Panel no longer has the 3D vision option on the left hand side which means you can't enable 3D. The problem seems to be the required files are not being extracted to the location they need to be in order for the 3D vision option to show up in the control panel. If you want to verify that this is the problem check your C:\Program Files (x86)\NVIDIA Corporation folder (or just C:\Program Files\NVIDIA Corporation for 32-bit) and see if there is a folder called 3D Vision. If the folder is not there or if it is there but empty then try this solution. I should also mention you will need to uninstall any previous drivers to verify this other wise the previous drivers files may still be there but will not work. Solution: The files were not extracted properly and placed in the above mentioned folder when the install took place. This is happening to me on a Vista(x64) system but I don't see why it could not happen on any Windows system. What I did to get 3D vision to work was go to C:\NVIDIA\DisplayDriver\ and go into the folder which is the latest driver version. For example C:\NVIDIA\DisplayDriver\320.49. Continue until you have reached C:\NVIDIA\DisplayDriver\320.49\Win8_WinVista_Win7_64\English\NV3DVision and now you should see a .exe file called 3D_Vision_320.49 (again the last part is whatever the current driver version is). Here's where things get messy. I used WinRar to open this exe file and manually extract the files to where they should have gone when you installed the driver. I put the files in C:\Program Files (x86)\NVIDIA Corporation\3D Vision (C:\Program Files\NVIDIA Corporation\3D Vision for 32-bit). I just extracted all of the files into this folder and 3D vision now appears in my NVidia Control Panel and I was able to get it working. If there are some files that won't copy because they are in use skip them. Try rebooting and copying again until there's nothing else you can copy. Not all files in the .exe have to be copied. Conclusion: Again, this is a bad solution and I cannot guarantee it will work in all cases. The fact that I even have to do this means something is terribly wrong in the first place but since there is nothing else wrong with my system I am not willing to reformat it just to stay with the current drivers. I hope this helps and good luck.

Interesting, they stopped supporting 3D in Vista. You could try using Universal Extractor, it works really well for extracting things like driver packages. http://legroom.net/software/uniextract
