i have a Benq W1070 projector on the latest firmware 1.08. The firmware changelog says 1.08 added support for 3D 1080p at 60hz. Yet in the Nvidia control panel, under HD 3D 1080p is limited to 24hz. Any idea why?
Also i've read about the EDID override hack to lets a projector like the W1070 use the Nvidia 3d vision kit even tho it's not 3d vision certified. With the W1070 it seems that the resolution needs to be turned down to 720p in order to get 120hz for the kit to work. But with the new firmware saying it added support for 1080p 3d @60hz, does that mean there would be a way to get 1080p 120hz? I tried with the nvidia custom resolutions and all i could get was 1080i @ 120hz.

The 3D Vision override hack is to enable frame sequential input from the GPU at 1280x720@120Hz via HDMI or VGA and only works if you have a 3D Vision emitter.
3DTV Play is currently software locked at 1920x1080@24Hz.

I believe 1.08 added support for [u]side by side[/u] and [u]top/bottom[/u] 1080p 60hz 3D formats. Still half resolution, not supported by Nvidia anyway.
So is there no way around it? What about using an HDM I 1.4b or 2.0 cable

No way to do it. It sucks but I've spent a large amount of time trying to find a way and found absolutely nothing. Nvidia needs to update their drivers in order for it to work. But then that's assuming nvidia does something not destructive for 3d vision for once and it's a fat chance that's happening.

The 1.08 firmware for the W1070 came out 6 months ago, so any improvements it added was just for Side by Side and Top/Bottom. In the event you use software like Tridef, then you can at least get that resolution going. It's still not good as 1:1 native pixel rendering but it can be better than playing at 720p for the time being. If only 3DTV play opened up Side by Side, then there would be more options to render 3D besides using the framepacked 3d that 3DTV play currently supports.

1080p -> 1920*1080 = 2,073,600 divided by 2 = 1,036,800 which is about ~12% more. Doubt you can see a perceptible difference.

I've never had any success with my prpjectors.
I've been able to get 120 on a few TVs for 2D not 3D.
I see a link in that thread to a article on Blur Busters that I have not seen before. I'll have to give it another try sometime in the future.
