Either after updating to the latest 266.58 Nvidia drivers or after updating EVE Online to Incursion 1.4.1 (deployed two days ago), 3D Vision stopped working for me.
When enabling 3D Vision EVE still shows only a single image which seems to become more grainy. Previously EVE had issues with the GUI, but 3D worked and was quite awesome in space.
Can someone help me diagnose and if possible fix the problem?
I am running Windows 7 64bit on a Nvidia 460 GTX with 266.58 drivers installed. (I am happy to provide more system details)

Hi
A couple of things
- Can you try GPU drivers 270.51?
- When you launch EVE Online, what is the EXE (excutable name) of the game?

Ah beta drivers. I installed those, but it didnt help :(. Though the behaviour changed. Now, when entering 3D mode the rendered content isnt rendered anymore resulting in a blackscreen, except for GUI elements and those now leave trails across the screen. outch
The exe is "ExeFile.exe" (:) (located in the bin folder in the installation directory). Also the game is correctly identified by 3D Vision and I get to see the green text etc.
Yet another edit: eve isnt too keen on exe-file renaming: it refuses to run.

I contacted CCP who advised to try the beta drivers and then when that didnt work said there was nothing they could do about it, apparently its a profile issue.

I can confirm it is an issue with nVidia drivers (or maybe the profiles that come with them). This is why nVidia should open up their profiles to the community, so we could modify them ourselves (like tridef allows us. I recommend to anyone with 3d vision to try tridef. It wont let me test the profile now, but about 3 months ago on an old windows install I did, and it was almost flawless in most games) and possibly correct issues.
I was using the latest release drivers and when in Aero mode would get the black screen when activating stereoscopic in eve, fullscreen or otherwise. In classic mode I would get a static image, somewhat grainy, with one shutter closed and no alternating frames.
The latest beta drivers have enabled me to run eve in stereoscopic 3d, but the performance is not as good as the drivers that were around in january, as eve ran flawlessly under those drivers, with the exception of the UI issues (though admittedly there has been patches to eve, but no real change that CCP has made the community aware of to its graphics engine that would result in).
As mentioned in my topic here: http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=197535, the latest beta drivers have broken Battlefield: Bad Company 2 stereoscopic mode for me, but under the latest official release drivers it runs better then ever. No noticable framerate drop with my GPU.
Im using a standard gigabite model gtx 470.
anything the devs can suggest for us eve players?
as a side note: sorry op, dont mean to steal your post. nVidia's customer support is infintely better then the competitors customer support. Love it. Keep up the great work guys.
as a second side note: is there likely to be a price drop in the gtx 590s around tax time this year? looking at getting one so I can upgrade to 3d surround vision

So I understand there is a problem with the Nvidia-profile for eve online and we as customers cannot really do anything else but hope for a fix in the next beta / release?
So I understand there is a problem with the Nvidia-profile for eve online and we as customers cannot really do anything else but hope for a fix in the next beta / release?
Not entirely true
We, as customers can stop supporting nvidia, switch to ati cards, and get 3d monitors/tvs that come with their own glasses, and use tridef 3d ignition for stereoscopic gaming. The benefit of this is that they allow their customers to mess with the profiles, or create their own, so that we dont have to wait for the staff at nvidia, sorry, I meant tridef to officially support a new release game. We can do it ourselves. And messing with the profiles through tridef isnt that hard. ATI cards are also, generally, somewhat cheaper. Mind you, Im an avid nVidia fanboy. I HATE ATI. But I also hate that we arent allowed to modify game profiles to fix things that are wrong with them. Oh well. TRIDef for the win in this case.
The problem is that the people who make the kinds of decisions for the company of nVidia, as a whole, relating to proprietary software and closed format coding are trying to bypass global anti-monopoly laws. If they keep it closed, as physx and 3d vision become more global and cheaper, they are hoping everyone will only use nvidia and their competitors will die out. Its a proven fact, however, that open format, open source code would spread more rapidly, and increase customer base.
Im still hoping that nVidia will either open up profiles to their customers, or more thoroughly support 3d vision (and I agree with the rant I read in another post on these forums I found through google, EVERYTHING can be done at driver level with enough knowledge, there is no reason for any game released since 05, that is a full 3d graphics game [ie, not a 2d iso game, modern] to not be 3d vision ready, or at least with excellent support. Most modern games are with tridef) for games, but in 2 weeks I switch to tridef for my stereoscopic gaming, because at least they have the attitude of "we cant make EVERY game 3d ready, so we will let our customers modify game profiles to better suit what THEY WANT", as shown by their enabling us to modify game profiles with a gui built into the software.

Just to confirm that I have the same issue, prior to the patch the game worked fine now after the recent one same issues, same issue with the beta drivers as well.
I contacted CCP who advised to try the beta drivers and then when that didnt work said there was nothing they could do about it, apparently its a profile issue.
Here is my info if it helps
Kind Regards
Pman
