Latest drivers fail to install Getting "Error in Stereo Driver"
Hi All,

2nd time this has happened, 1st time managed to get it working on V1.0 drivers, this time I am after a proper fix.

I downloaded the latest drivers CD V1.29 / 257.21 and have tried numerous ways to get them to install. GFX goes in fine, 3d always installes OK, but when I get to the setup wizard and am asked to connect my 3D it goes bright white / blue... then flashes red for a bit, then goes dull green, will not go fully bright green.

Then if I do next anyways, I get this error msg:

Geforce 3D vidion Setup Wizard Error

Error in Stereo Driver,
NvAPI_Stereo_IsActivated() returned 0 after stereo was enabled by default with settings -> setDefaultStartupMode(true)

How can i fix this... it is driving me crazy.

Many thanks for your time,

That is the exact same error I got with my Alieware Optx AW 2310 after trying the new drivers. Way to go Nvidia. Its bad enough WOW doesnt work with the last version of drivers. Now they dont work at all.

Their tech support phone number is available M-F from 8-6 EST. I plan to call them next Friday when I have off from work. Didn't have a chance today. May try early on Monday before work. 408-486-2000 begin_of_the_skype_highlighting              4
08-486-2000      end_of_the_skype_highlighting. I tried to do a system restore but it kept giving me an unknown error so Im going to have to be patient until they can help me install them properly, or figure out what setting is causing the issue.

I think I fixed the issue I was having with this particular driver. First, I noticed that my in the control panel, the display defaulted back to 60Hz when I have a 120Hz monitor. Also, make sure also that your monitor in the control panel (of windows) and in the Nvidia Control Panel is set to the native resolution of your monitor. Then, before trying to run the 3D set up wizard, I made sure I unplugged the transmitter. Only when it told me to plug it back in did I do so. This time, I went through the wizard fine. This doesnt fix the issues many of us are having with World of Warcraft, but it allowed the 3D to be activated (at least for me).

I had already tried all of what you suggested and it still didn't work.

Guess I need to waste more of my time on this needlessly hard product.

how to fix 3d install fail.

After trying and failing the normal techniques I managed to get it to work.

The normal techniques being.

Uninstall NV progs
unplug 3d
restart into safe mode
run driver sweeper
restart into safemode again
run driver sweeper again, getting rid of the directory so everything is gone
go into windows, shut down AV and run the Full CD install as admin.

Now, this should have worked - but DID NOT! Exactly the same issue in the wizard.

I tried so many things... got really angry and was not gonna let it beat me.

leave 3d plugged in after failed wizard run.
uninstall device in Device Manager and tell it to delete driver (tick box)
Uninstall program for 3d leaving normal nv display driver
unplug and replug in the 3d (still AV off here btw) - you should get "a device failed to install error".
Now run the 3d software as an admin, leaving 3d unit connected.
Then I did the wizard and it worked!

I love this tech when it works but it is such a pain in the arse when it doesn't. I have lost hours messing with this.

NV need to pull their finger out and sort the installer.
