Can't stand this 22" Samsung 2233RZ anymore. I've been looking at these 82" TVs and starting to think this will be fantastic. I essentially want my PC to be a massive home theatre setup at the same time as a PC (since I don't really watch TV).
So I've been considering getting a Mitsubishi WD-82837. 82" should be more than enough for gaming and movies. However I have no idea about LCD TVs. I have no idea how this will perform as a PC monitor. I'm assuming the quality would be similar to my old 24" inch which was 1200 (compared to the 1080 of the TV).
However obviously you'll sit further away from an 82" and this is where I wonder how it'll feel when playing anything from an FPS to an RTS etc.

I have the 60737 and you can rest assured that your experience will be awesome. However, it will not look as crisp and sharp as a high quality 24" monitor. But I have been using my 60" as a monitor for so long that I have decided to give away my monitor since I never use it anymore and don't plan to either. I write papers for school and do all of my homework using the TV as the only display and it works flawlessly. You plan on getting the 837 which will be even better, so you should have nothing to worry about. My living room setup puts my eyes right in the middle of the screen, and I sit about 7' back.
I use a LapWorks Gamers Desk, and it works well, but I would suggest a wireless keyboard and mouse for reasons of ease, though I manage fine with a G15 and a G9. 3D is awesome with a big screen setup, my dad has a Sony 70" (not 3D though) and I cannot imagine a 3D 82"!

I'm actually looking into possibly getting one of those new 3d projectors from Acer or Optoma to project a 100" screen on my living room wall. Hide the projector inside a custom made coffee table. Those projectors only cost $700 vs $4000 for the 82" Mitsubishi DLP. Time to paint the wall with the some goo :)

If you get it I will be jealous....I have the 65" diamond series and I never use my monitors anymore...PC is always connected for 3D.
Get it! If I had the opportunity to do it over again I would have got the 73"...games are AMAZING @ 1080p with 3D vision. Don't know much about the projectors, but everything I have read and know about mine is that the DLP have the best gaming experience.

I think you can find 73" mitsu for around $1500 right now. get the extended warranty on whatever dlp you buy though, I just don't think a extra 9" is worth double the price, think, you could have two 73" mitsu for the price of one 82" I have the 73 mitsu, I watch it probably 10" away and sometime get motion sickness from FPS games. Now that is awesome!

I have the 60 and I love it.
I believe there is a thread at avsforum called Mitsubishi 2009 .... where some users prefer the 73 because it seems the 82 is a bit dim as it uses the same lamp.
May want to check on that.

I have the 65" and it's great with media center and computer games but I can't get the 3D to work. Two symptoms (1) no 120Hz display resolution available for selection and (2) the IR emitter driver won't install. I suspect the latter is a result of the former. Did you have any issues or do you have any insight in how to get it to work?

Costco at least in the SF Bay Area is selling the 73in Mitsu WITH the matching TV stand for $1,400... that about blows over my 67in Sammy I bought over a year ago for $2,500...
But I always gonna throw out that the LED source will outlast 10 lamp replacements....
I will also throw out there that my sammy is in my bedroom and I sit or lie down about 4 feet from it...ha ha ha
If you have the room for the projector... go with a projector

I have a 73 inch WD-73737 Mitsubishi and I love it to death. The picture is phenomenal, looks better than most LCD's and Plasmas I've seen and the blacks are really really good. SD content looks better than usual on it too. One caveat with it is that I have not been able to use it with the latest 3D Vision driver. The latest beta does not work either.

DLPs are a pretty amazing experience because they are huge! Nothing like seeing Batman about 3-4 feet tall. Its pretty cool.
