*solved* 3DTV just keeps restetting depth value - helixmod related
hey guys and gals.
im new to 3d-gaming and i do like it at times even if 3dtv-play seems quite restricted.
yet, i think about buying it, but so far, there is a bug which keeps reseting my "depth"-setting whenever i hit the start-button on my xbox controller (or maybe its connected to the games start menu, havent figuered out yet)
its quite important for me to keep the right depth, because if the value is too high,i get severe crosstalking on my tv.
any idea how to fix this? cheers!

You should ditch the X-Box and do your Stereoscopic Gaming on a PC.
Perhaps you need to update the firmware on the TV?
Perhaps you need to set the input on the TV to Gaming mode?
Most of the time extreme crosstalk is related to post processing by the TV.
BTW 3DTV Play has absolutely nothing to do with console gaming, it's a stereoscopic middleware for use with Nvidia GPUs on Desktops and Laptops.
I think the OP refers to the fact he is using an Xbox Controller to play on the PC;))
It is very weird that it resets the depth/convergence value as I've never heard of this before...
What happens exactly when you press Start? It opens an in-game setting or an overlay type of App?
Have you tried multiple games?

Ooops, I should have been paying more attention to what I was reading and typing, instead of the food I was consuming.
First you need to make sure that you have the advance hotkeys enabled. Then you can adjust both convergence and depth as well as save.
http://3dvision-blog.com/111-changing-the-convergence-level-in-3d-vision/
The settings reset every time you lauch a game, unless saved via F7 (if it's enabled)
All that usually happens when you press the guide button is the battery check pops up(XBoxStat.exe) when you're on the desktop or Steam goes into BPM if you're in Steam ... what game is this happening in?
Are you using a fix(HelixMod)? I know most of the fixes are set to 100% Depth by default, if you're running a fix and not saving the settings properly* in it then the fix will reset it back to it's default setting, overriding any global setting. If the game loses focus perhaps it could cause the fix to reset, usually this takes an full Alt+Tab out of the game though.
*Selecting the Preset by pressing the Key it's bound to and then pressing F7(Not Ctrl+F7, like saving Convergence) ... Depth is a global setting that should never change on it's own, you can't save Depth on a per game basis, you can only do that with Convergence. HelixMod/fixes are the only thing that should change your global Depth setting on you without you pressing Ctrl+F3/Ctrl+F4.

If the game profile has a default convergence and/or separation setting it will reset every time, until you hit Ctrl-F7 to save your settings. That sometimes does not work on games with no profiles, in which case you need to assign a known good profile to the game.

Here's the additional data you have asked for:
Game: Kingdom of Amalur Recogning

Settings set with advanced settings mode enabled and saved via F7
I start rereading the Helix-mod faq. Thanks for pointing into that direction. Probably, my problems will be solved after that.
PS: Excessive ghosting is probably caused by my TV-setup and can only be reduced by certain adjustments, but never fully cease, right?
Yeah, ghosting is pretty symptomatic of the glasses, display, brightness and contrast, and generally how low or high contrast the particular game is that you're playing at the time.

Yeah it's most likely the fix, the 'Auto-Convergence' perhaps? Did you do this if you're using the New Version?
Update:
Added alternative verison. Seperate convergence/hud depth setting for gameplay/cinematic will automatically trigger.
[Cinematic]Press F3 adjust depth/convergence setting and save with F7.
[Gameplay]Press F4 adjust depth/convergence setting and save with F7.
Must restart game once for new settings to apply.
When I wasn't running at 100% Depth I found it easier to just replace the settings in the DX9Settings.ini, I was at 46%.
If you know what percentage you want to use, you can just go here to convert it from Float to Hex. Say you want to run at 46%, Enter 46 in the upper most Float Value box and click Convert to Hex, it'll output 0x42200000 above it, Copy(double-click,Ctrl+C) that, and Open the DX9Settings.ini in Notepad, find the lines like this:
Separation = 0x42a00001
And paste(double-click 0x42a00001,Ctrl+V) your lower Hex Value over the 100% Hex Value, I have a Script kicking around somewhere that'll do this.
edit:you can also either remove or comment out ... //Separation = 0x42a00001 ... the Separation lines in the DX9Settings.ini and the fix will use your global setting.
