1 month VR headset owners, you still use 3d vision or VR or both?

Really curious, since i found VR to be very underwhelming coming from 3d vision. Im mainly playing on projector and i find it much more impressive coupled with good 3d. I first got my oculus and now ive had vive for 2 days since i wanted to test roomscale. Both are crap in my opinion, very cool tech but after the first 1-4hours demoing them, i couldnt imagine using them more.

You might want to go into the VR forums and ask what games are good for it. VR is bleeding edge tech. Developers are still trying to figure out how the frak to even make a game make sense in VR. Almost all of the conventions that have been worked out over the past few decades need to be done all over again!

The very powerful and the very stupid have one thing in common. Instead of altering their views to fit the facts, they alter the facts to fit their views ... which can be very uncomfortable if you happen to be one of the facts that needs altering.

If you played on big screen in quality 3D in high resolution then I`m not surprised that you can`t get into VR. This tech need time to adopt. Get some quality content. I am staying with 3D Vision for good - until there is community support and CM. If they release new VR headset with 4K resolution (or close to it) and support it with good amount of games to play then I`m in.

I just dont, its as simple as that. I know they are bleeding edge tech but it doesnt change a thing. Most are shovelware, and the best content is just "ok". If one REALLY likes arcade type games, then theres some good content.

Did you play Vanishing of Ethan ? I don`t know how this game compare to our Excellent experience. I mean the fixed version compare to Redux on VR.

Hands down better experience on my 3d vision setup. Something positive though, i could play it fine in VR and it only supports gamepad and is supposed cause easily motion sickness. Ethan carter and project cars were actually titles i thought id enjoy the most but both were very disappointing.

Thanks mate - that is something what was putting me down. I am all about visuals and if they will force me to sacrifice that just to convince me that immersion is all I need - then I say no to that. I don`t want to be immersed in ugly world. I don`t even think that this all immersion is better then what we got. If I`m sitting close to my 27 inch screen and I can because of insane quality (ROG Swift) and I can get immerse completely in it after 5 min, feeling like there is nothing else around me - then I call it proper immersion.

I've had mine nearly 2 months and I still use it almost everyday. I have t played a 3D game since in all honesty. I have a Panasonic ptat6000e projector with 127" screen and it only gets used for films now. I have a 4K monitor for 2D games which I use quite a bit. Saying 3D is immersive as VR is quite frankly horse shit. Playing games like hordez, project cars, hoverjunkers, the lab, green water: chair in a room, budget cuts etc... You are IN the game, that's the difference. Maybe looks at adjusting the lens distance and playing with the IPD controls to help the picture quality. I love 3D gaming but IMO VR has blown it out of the water.

The resolution and lenses are shit, you cant adjust and fix that. Also good for you that you enjoy VR for what it is today. I cant, too many things i cant look past.

well I had some friends come over the last weekend to test the VR and while the sense of presence somewhere else is great, there are really no games to fully benefit from that. Most current VR games on vive are a proof of concept early access... I dont want to say money grab but some just loooks like such. Oculus at least have some full titles that you can actually call games, lucky tale is great for example same with chronos. Valve's The Lab is still probably the best presentation of VR/Roomscale. All the VR games are really lack luster when it comes to visuals, really simplistic as if they would come from decade earlier. Some people also felt uncomfortable while they sat in real life but was moving in VR, guess you can be used to that but its a weird experience to some. I never had anybody felt that way in 3dvision. After we tested all games in VR I decided to show them some games in 3d and man, they were blown away by the visuals and the sense of depth. If you compare DAI, GTA5, Dirt rally to any VR title they look so pale its not even funny. We've tried project cars and asseto corsa as there were some good opinions about those titles in VR and I bought thrumaster wheel and fuck me but I couldnt see the road ahead out of all those pixels ;/

Coffeeonteacup what games have you tried? Also what gfx card are you running? VR adjusts the image quality to maintain a constant fps. I just can't believe how people think the gfx look bad. Sure it's not a 4K screen like my monitor but it sure looks good on my 980TI. The gallery starseed probably has the best gfx, or green water: the chair. Maybe give those a try.

Do you have any links to videos from VR recorded in side by side so I can watch it in 3D ?

I have yet to see a good looking game in vr, because how bad the screen looks. Graphics maybe good in some games but ruined by horrible resolution and lenses. I also tried supersampling which makes project cars and ethan carter for example better looking but they still look like shit through vr. Ive tried variety of games and cant try new ones anymore. i just boxed up the headset and plan to return it to the store. If its possible to watch those in 3d on a monitor it will look much, much better on it than in vr. You need to put on the goggles to truly know how it looks and feels.

But if it was recorded straight from VR set in 3D it will be in the very same quality. I watched Skyrim like this and didn`t like it. Quality was like from PS3.
