I am testing my NVidia Quadra FX3400 card, which is no doubt support
quad buffers for opengl stereo rendering. If I use the NVidia 3D
driver, and install the same version of graphic driver, I can run the
stereo demo in driver successfully after enabling opengl stereo.
However, if I take the stereo example from
http://astronomy.swin.edu.au/~pbourke/opengl/stereogl/
it reported that: GLUT:Fatal error :pixel format with necessary
capabilities not found.
However, it can be run successfully using my friend's Quadra4 900 XGL card.
Do this means that windowsxp do not support such pixel format? Then if
I use the example from
:http://www.stereographics.com/support/developers redblue.exe, it
always said the configure is not corrected.
The monitor resolution is 1024*768 and the refresh rate is 60HZ.
Can somebody help me on that?
and Does there a simple stereo test program available?
and Do I need to install NVidia 3D Stereo driver to enable the stereo rendering?
Finally, we resolved this problem by installing an old version of forceware 61.77 or 61.82 just like some guys reported. We do not know why in high version, do not directly support GL_STEREO in window platform. Hope NVidia can resolve this problem in near future.

I want just to add a precision. My problem with quadro FX3400 was a misunderstanding of the capabilities of stereo driver.
To create a program using stereo, you don't need to install the 3Dstereo driver. In fact this driver is tuned for game and not for every applications. the driver non-stereo can enable stereo (that means to activate the quad buffer) by changing a setting in the control panel. this option allows you to run your own program with GL_STEREO and two points of view. Now I use fireware version 81.67 without additional stereo driver and use shutter glasses as stereo display mode option.
