Does anyone have any information regarding what happened to this monitor in the U.S? I've contacted Acer and they can't seem to give me a reason why. One thing I have noticed though is sites that are carrying the model have it as a bundle with a Nvidia 560 card and glasses. However none of them will sell them separately. It leads me to believe the that Nvidia is preventing the monitor from being sold by itself. If anyone could shed some light on the subject I would be thankful.

I wouldn't hold your breath on this one. This is all hearsay, but one of my colleagues apparently called the head of corporate at NCIX, who said he was friends with the head of Acer Canada, and the reply was that the product was deemed at "EOL" -- end of life. It essentially means they aren't producing them anymore. very confusing stuff, since this came out only a few weeks ago. I've also heard some rumours theres something wrong with the hardware -- although most reviews haven't seemed to come up with anything but praise for it.
Again, I could be totally wrong, and somewhere through the chain of communications there could have been some mixup, but that's just what I heard.

Me too... but the fact that nobody seems to be able to get a straight answer (if any!) from Acer about this product, why it stopped production for the time being, and whats happening with it in the future makes this even more puzzling.

I have been wondering what happened to the HN274H supply as well. We can only speculate. Some theories (just for the fun of it):
1) Maybe Acer is killing the current version because they learned of the new "wired" version of the 3D Vision shutter glasses and would like to bundle those with the monitor rather than the wireless version. Acer can redesign the 27" monitor without a built-in IR emitter (saving money and design complexity) and bundle the monitor with the cheaper wired glasses (which would let them reduce the overall cost of the bundle). Eliminating the built-in IR emitter would also remove a potential source of system defects and (therefore) monitor sets returned to the retailer/manufacturer by consumers.
2) It is a component supply issue. LG makes the panel--maybe LG cut off the supply of panels for one reason or another (maybe they are prepping their own 27" 3DV monitor).
3) Acer is prepping a 27" version of the HS244HQ, which is not 3D Vision compatible, and is redirecting their supply of 27" 120Hz panels to this product. Acer seems to have a pretty solid relationship with nVidia, so I hope this is not the case. The Acer HN274H has so much positive buzz going for it in the 3D Vision community, it is hard to imagine Acer not capitalizing on it.

The last couple of posts certainly make sense. I was lucky enough to grab one of these off Newegg b4 their supply was depleted. I've read a ton of negative feedback (ghosting, contrast, etc)... but, I personally love it and think it's a pretty slick piece of hardware. If they were cheaper, I would break the bank and go surround. /thumbup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

I'm not sure who is posting comments on EOL notices, but I can assure you its not EOL. The product has terrific reviews and its just taking Acer longer than expected to get supply back online.

The EOL comments almost had me switching gears... to looking back at the 24" models. 27" is the absolute perfect size for 3D mapping. I still enjoy the 22" Sammy on my desk, but the change will be awesome. I am interested to find out if the Acer will be the only 27" available using 3D vision (Pro) for Quadro cards. The Samsung SA950 screen is intriguing as well, although not certifiable.
Andrew, would NVidia be willing to test the Samsung 27" SA950 screen for use with 3D Vision Pro? It has the DVI-D connection and can do 120Hz... What is the limitation that keeps it from being an option for Quad buffered users like me?

UK still has stock, although there was only ever one online store with them to start with.
Will wait a bit before buying though as £485 (~$760) is far too much as I can get a 42" LCD 3D for that price and plonk that in front of my face for £499.
£300 is a much better price mark if you ask me for a 27", that's about ~$580.

Even before they started shipping I was told that these panels were in short supply. Best Buy and Fry's were aware of the unit but because of the supply issues were not able to get them. Newegg only got about 200 and the Tigerdirect companies(Compusa & Circuit City) began to sell them at $689 but a couple of weeks later decided to bundle them with other stuff to get a higher profit because of the short supply. Hopefully not too many people were desperate enough to buy it from them. This type of behavior should NOT be rewarded. From what I can see(via foreign websites) ACER is distributing/allocating their supply around the world. When they return to theNorth American market GIT IT QUICK!!!

Anyway, those are my conspiracy theories :D
