Epic 3D TV Play Question I bet you cannot give me an asnwer...
2 / 2
Right on bud. I agree everything is a trade off at this point. The 3d displays are still pretty limited imo. That's why i choose to save bucks and wait for the real deal hd. I don't like paying a premium for compromised tech.
I have never seen ghosting on my dlp. Not sure why u would say otherwise. It common knowledge that dlp is a ghost free experience with max depth too.
Im surprised u could not stand the FP noise so much. Mine is not loud. About the same as my computer, and is not nearly noticeable with the sound on. There is always the option of a hush box. fp is not for everyone that's for sure. U need a big space and it takes more to install them compared to a tv. Maybe because i have a cool dark room my fans don't have to ramp up as much. But with my ears its as loud as my computer at idle.
I see some users claim 2011 sammy has no ghosting, i hope so, and ill see in person when mine shows up. Even with half red 1080p checkerboard, if i see bad ghosting ill probably return it and just keep the 720 p FP.

You said so yourself in another thread. Then you said it was the fault of the game/games, not the fault of the FP. Of course that means when I see ghosting on my Samsung, it likewise doesn't count because it's the games fault. But I would never say "Samsung HDTVs have zero ghosting" even though " " it's the games fault " ", wink wink.

You do realize that nobody in this forum knows how loud your computer is, right?
There is always the option of a hush box.
Hush box don't work for obvious reason. If you seal them so that they are silent, then heat build up causes failure. If you ventilate the box so it doesn't burn up, then there goes the sound insolation. It's theoretically impossible to block sound without blocking heat. That's the achilles heal of DLP FPs, they run hot with the heat contained in a small space. They have the extra disadvantage that they are located near the users ears. Only solution is fan and hope people will live with the noise.

You're joking, right? Please tell me you didn't order a Samsung LED. Not after all the threads you posted bashing them. If you aren't joking, then "you've got some 'splaining to do, Lucy". :)

I disagree that screen size must equate to a lesser or greater experience for a given fov and i am eagerly awaiting high resolution surround HMD's in 3D with head tracking...
Now the likelyhood of a user with a smaller screen pulling his Tv closer to get that same FOV is pretty low and might not be comfortable, which is my experience, especially in 2D.

I appreciate all your inputs. A lot of wisdom and useful advice here. I'm glad I posted.
Checkerboard I've never looked into, but I'll check it out just to see. 2011 Samsungs eliminate ghosting possibly? Those bums! That's how it is though. The devil fills our hearts with discontentment urging us to buy more and go into debt! Good thing I'm saved. A little off topic, but worth mentioning. I'll really try to do some testing and post some results. Forgive me in advance for any delays for those interested in the outcome.

wow, im surprised u do not know this, but you are describing two different issues. One is artifacts and the other is cross talk. A artifact occurs when a game was not designed for 3d, is played in 3d, like mass effect lighting issues. This will occur on any 3d display from here to eternity. The game uses 2d tricks to fake 3 dimensions on a 2d screen. Crosstalk is a issue with a poorly designed 3d display, like all the 2010 models i tried. You get a double image effect. Im sure you know what im talking about as your set is known for Crosstalk. I say this truthfully, there is zero ghosting on my two dlp systems on a 3d ready game. I wish my old panny would have played the games with zero cross talk, but it didn't.
i never bashed any one brand bud. I could care less what brand i have. I just want to have the best 3d consumer experience. I saw the ghosting first hand in the 2010 sets. That is why i deemed them unworthy. Some people have made some claims on these forums that i want to see first hand. One user who has never had any other set said the new sammy have zero ghosting we shall see. I like Samsung, im typing on a galaxy tab right now which is my primary phone. I would love to have a hdmi 1.4 tv if it didn't have ghosting issues on 3d ready games and actually had full hd gaming. Im tired of the u have not seen it so u can't kknock it additude, and people claiming i hate a brand, or those claiming that i am jealous of a stupid tv.
Im sorry i don't have a decibel meter to show exactly how loud the FP IS. As with most of your claims, im pretty sure you are.exaggerating the noise level. Im also.pretty sure most people know approximately how loud a air cooled computer is. Especially a high end one. But all i can offer is a.seat.of the paints comparison.

I just ordered a Sony Blu-ray Drive. It said it will play 3D movies. It's on it's way from Newegg along with Tron 3D from Amazon. /cool.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
2JZ-GTE Engine (Supra) w/Starbucks FTW! (notice my name on the cup, Tim!)

You'll burn (shoot) your eyes out kid! HAHA. Anyway, I mounted it now and it's further back. Yeah my computer is all air cooled. I'm usually playing games too loud to hear anything, but I only hear fans when I hit Control+F2 which is my second setting for EVGA Precision. I made this increase the fan to 90%. Prevents computer from locking up. Not sure why, but my vid card has been acting weird lately. It is real sensitive to heat, I've never really OC'ed it. Maybe the newer games are pushing it to it's limits? A little off topic I know.

Nice!
You should go water cooling. great performance, and as close to dead silent as it gets. But the real reason is.....it looks cool!

Figured I'd post something. I haven't gone out and bought the emitter, I will try to find that driver/program fix. Also, there was an update recently that addressed some issues with 3D TV Play. I upgraded my video card driver. The only other thing I did was buy a decent HDMI to MINI HDMI adapter and made by Monster as well as a 3D 1080p high bandwidth HDMI cable. Supposed to be really good. Hooked it all up, installed my Bluray player and watched Green Hornet. 3D works in 1980x1080, but I had to manually select since auto set it at 1280x720. I'm using PowerDVD 11 Ultra. Pretty good program. I'm using the Android app with it to make my phone into remote control it which is more useful than I thought!
What about gaming? Well, I'll update soon hopefully.
You can do that with the iz3D or DDD drivers, and the Nvidia driver (with a hack). But I am still skeptical that the quality is really that much better.
This is what I was refering to since I do not need to purchase a 3D Vision Emitter.
(That was my reply on the PM, hope your Messenger gets fixed)

Crap I still never did it someone yell at me. I did find a high quality HDMI cable with a high quality convertor. make it looks like one cable because they are both designed by monster.
Well, standard HDMI is here for Nvidia. I just saw the EVGA 570 HD

I have never seen ghosting on my dlp. Not sure why u would say otherwise. It common knowledge that dlp is a ghost free experience with max depth too.

Now the likelyhood of a user with a smaller screen pulling his Tv closer to get that same FOV is pretty low and might not be comfortable, which is my experience, especially in 2D.

Hush box don't work for obvious reason. If you seal them so that they are silent, then heat build up causes failure. If you ventilate the box so it doesn't burn up, then there goes the sound insolation. It's theoretically impossible to block sound without blocking heat. That's the achilles heal of DLP FPs, they run hot with the heat contained in a small space. They have the extra disadvantage that they are located near the users ears. Only solution is fan and hope people will live with the noise.
You're joking, right? Please tell me you didn't order a Samsung LED. Not after all the threads you posted bashing them. If you aren't joking, then "you've got some 'spaining to do, Lucy". :)
