ASUS VG278h 3D not working
I just got an ASUS VG278h and unfortunately wasn't able to get 3D to work /sad.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> I can see double images on the monitor, but get no 3D effect through the glasses. Earlier, I was using an Acer HN274H 3D monitor, that I'm about to return, without problem. I'm using driver 301.32.

I have verified there's no problem with the 3D vision 2 glasses by using it with the Acer monitor. I also tried the clever idea someone suggested of looking at the IR emitter through a CCD camera. With the Acer monitor, I definitely see 4 red LEDs glowing, but don't see any from the ASUS. The green 3D LED indicator is on though.

Does that mean the monitor is broken?

Are you trying it in games or windows? I have that monitor and sometimes it gets stuck in 3D without 3D effect. I need to launch a game, turn off the game and when i start firefox the monitor goes black and turns off the 3D mode. To use it only in games i set it to show only when 3D applications are in full screen. If i want to use it in windows i need to change to show allways.

I have tried it with the 3D NVIDIA logo and Team Fortress 2 and both show a full screen stereo image, but the glasses give no 3D effect. Rats, looks like I'm going to have to RMA.

To bad, it looks like it's the IR that fails to send the signal to the glasses.

Monitors such as the Asus and Acer that have a builted in emitter have this issue sometimes. It's a known problem and has been discussed in the 3D Vision blog forum, so you're not the 1st or the second guy that complains about your glasses not syncing with the monitor as a cause of malfunction built in emitter.
Somehow the emitter that comes with the 3D Vision kit seems to be more reliable and rarely give these problems.
