DOOM (2016) - 3D Vision Fix
  3 / 40
Well good news;) I managed to make the wrapper work yesterday with it;) I couldn't see any eye-sync issues;) but I was constantly running at 60FPS on my 2x980Ti. Now I don't think SLI actually does anything in this game, but I might be wrong. I managed to stereorize some of the shaders, but I noticed some glitches, weirdness there. Lots and LOTS of effects are broken, rendered at wrong depth, position etc (lights, shadows, reflections, bla bla bla :)) ) I am trying to make the full geometry to render in 3D first though;) One thing I noticed is that the game has in option "Compute Shaders" checkbox. Now my wrapper doesn't have Compute Shader support (yet... and can be easily added). I noticed that I could disable them, so we should be good;) One thing to note, before people will get impatient and hyped-up ^_^. This MIGHT take a while. It could very well take me only the weekend or more than that :( Now, I only run the game for 30 minutes and had a few beers on board after getting sick of Dying like a new-fresh-born in Dark Souls :))) So, my impression was on these 30 minutes where basically I hooked the wrapper and tried a couple of quick-dirty cheats;)) I will definitely be coming here to ask for help on some shaders (have a strong feeling about it... hahaha) If anyone else wants to help out, let me know;) Cheers

@helifax you can choose play in OGL, Vulvan or Directx? I can't skip this game....for those videos, they capture the "essence" of the original.

I looked in the options but I couldn't see anything related to the Renderer. The game starts in OpenGL 4.3. I don't think it has a DirectX renderer and didn't see anything related to Vulkan either. Maybe I missed it, cause I quickly navigated through the menus ?! but something like this should have popped out;)

/\ Wouldn't surprise me if there's no Vulkan support yet. On that Nvidia page I posted (with the uncompressed video), they stated it was running on Vulkan, but also stated Vulkan support would be coming in the near future (at least on Nvidia cards). Seemed like a strange timeline, but maybe they're just waiting for the game to be patched.

I read that Vulkan support will be patched into the game at a later date. (Which even in that case raises the question on how good it could possibly be if it's an afterthought) Hopefully that will mean it's selectable between the two, in case there's any issue with Helifax's wrapper working with Vulkan.

OK helifax, i suppose they will add at least Vulcan support later....But for S3D we will stay in OGL and the good news is that OGL is not capped to 60fps :)

Even if Vulkan comes/is available in the game, my wrapper will not work with it as Vulkan is a different API than OpenGL. This means there will be no 3D Vision support:) While it would be interesting to make an OpenGL vs Vulkan benchmark for the raw numbers, the current OpenGL implementation is very nicely optimized and just shows how good a game can look and behave in OpenGL;)

openGL isn't glide. in 1999 you would select one or the other for your hardware rendering. glide was exclusive to 3dFX, it didn't work on Riva, ATI, Matrox and such. with those you needed to use opengl. then nvidia bought 3dFX, and glide disappeared in favor of directX. all those who remember being wowed by the demo of the game Incoming raise hands? :D
