Thats quite a lot of hassle to go through to play tomb raider in 3D...it shouldn't be this hard...there is certainly something wrong with the game not being able to play the game in 3D under win 8.1. I really hope when the definitive edition comes out, it gets sorted out, because I really do want to play this game in 3D...it looks majestic.
Anyway thanks for your help bud, but Iam gonna have to let it go ....

Those were my ideas that are related to the adapter mess that Microsoft created with Win 8.1. Doesn't sound like it works at present. Since 2D was busted and now works, it seems likely that 3D will eventually catch up as well, probably with an NVidia driver update.
If you still have your Win7 code, I would recommend a dual boot. Boot to the OS where things work the best for whichever game is on your agenda.
Seems like it's worth a little trouble for Tomb Raider, it's the top rated game by our esteemed panel of expert 3D users- by a long shot. http://lists.bo3b.net/s3d/

Wow, what a bunch of idiots, I guess it's a 60 euro texture pack for new consoles then :D
Hi Guys,
IMO Tomb Raider is very optimized game (3D & SLI) ! I usually have around 90-95% of performance more with SLI. I play all Max settings in 1080p + 3D Vision (I got 2x GTX 780).
The only problem is the "move of the hair" with TressFX enabled in 3D ! That looks sometimes "weird" like not synchronized ! (there is no pb with 1 GPU).
Do you have the problem too ?

hmm not really, look at some of the screenshots from the definitive version and compare....
According to one source the PC is still definitive it seems.
"Tomb Raider for Xbox One and PS4 looks to be a more technically accomplished version of the original that brings it closer to the superior PC version. So in that respect, it might well be the 'definitive version' on consoles, but it won't offer those that already played it anything new"http://www.computerandvideogames.com/443915/previews/hands-on-tomb-raiders-definitive-edition-offers-cosmetic-improvements-and-not-much-else/
Can the consoles render TR in 3D?
Lord, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.

Let me restate that switching triple buffering off and back on in the in game menu solved the same issue that's being mentioned here for me (had to be done every time I ran the game). I was running a 690 GTX in Windows 8.1
Also the definitive edition has improvements beyond the PC version. More detailed model + more physics on the model for Lara, new lighting, etc.

I am also very optimistic about changes. I am not a pc elitist but considering specs of new/former systems I kind of doubt the difference would be so much that it would surpass pc version.
XBOX one/ PS4 specs are good but not even as good as a low end pc and they have to build for the lowest common demoninator. Basically build around the flaws of both. XBOX/PS3 were extremely outdated but developers new how to squeeze as much as possible with time and there is no advantage with new platforms yet.
TBH, will have to see on release but I'd bet money its going to be near 30-40 fps. Though it might look a little better, it will be bare. Curiously the most performance intensive features [AA/Tessellation] were not yet mentioned for definitive edition.
Does someone uses 3D Vision + TressFX here ?
Did you notice some "Hair bugs ?" (not moving normally)
The Hair bugs when using TresFX is due to using SLI. Yes. I play the game in 3D Surround with all cranked up to the abs maximum. The hair has its moments of "pop" when it starts to "freak out" for 2-3 seconds.
This happens for both 2D and 3D...Surround or Single screen as long as SLI is enabled.
On a single GPU it runs fine.
The workaround I found is to press the start/esc button going back to the in-game menu page and then revert to the game.
