is 3d vision same as ps3 3d technology..
Hey guys about to invest in a new 3d ready gaming pc .. I have been around 3d for a while but I never tried 3d vision just wondering if its the same ps3 3d on a 3dtv as I have that at home on my 63" plasma samsung...

just wanted to make sure its not worse then that or not as good or anything before I buy.. unforteunly theirs like no where you can go test it out in ontario canada for sum reason common nvidia dont leave us out!

if so then I will defintely be purchasing 3d vision cause I love it on my ps3 even though their arent near as many games for it..

I also dont want to wait for 3dtv play because I didnt like pc gaming on my 3dtv that much I found it a hard little hard and far away I think actually perfer it on a desktop right infront of me so that means more money for the monitor and glasses oh well I think its worth it..

If you mean visually similar to the PS3 setup you have, the answer is yes and no..

As you said, there is very little genuine 3D content, via Blu-Ray Movie titles, available for the PS3 or any other movie-based 3D technology.

With 3D Vision by Nvidia there are MANY titles, game titles that is, that work very well as long as you don't mind a little tweaking here and there to yield the best quality 3D game experience.

To elaborate a little on the tweaking part, 3D Vision can be a bit tricky with driver installs, but Nvidia hopes to minimize that with their newest 260.xx driver series that really streamline the installation process.

3D technologies used by consumers in the non-gaming dept. are more about plug and play and less on the "tweaking" side of things but you pay for that as some of the 3D techs out there aren't as immersive as the gaming solutions. 3D technology for PC's is really not a new concept, there has been tech available for the better part of the last 20 years. The problem was that it was not well supported and was very problematic and quirky, but it did exist. It took a company like Nvidia to take a fresh look at it and create a more user friendly, better quality and more versatile platform.

So, in short, 3D vision still requires some tweaking, but the end result is a well thought out product that more or less ushered in the widespread, somewhat consumer friendly, home 3D experience that I imagine will be around for the long haul.

From what I've seen on the PS3 (Motostorm, Wipeout and Stardust HD), Nvidia 3D vision is vastly superior to PS3 3D.

You get more control (such as increasing 3D depth, conversion), better looking games (your TV is locked at 720p for PS3 and PC...but PC can be true 720p @ 60 hz per eye where PS3 games are upscaled to 720p @ 30 hz if you're lucky), much higher list of games which you can play, emulators and programs you can use in 3D, user movies you can watch...etc

PS3 can play 3D blurays (soon) and games that Sony decides to port to 3D, and thats it.

The only drawback for PC is that you need to spend around 1000 bucks minimum in making a computer able to run 3D vision.
