Epson projector and 3d games

 • what is the difference between 3d vision ready games and all the others in the 3d vision games list? I can play BF3 in 3d but not Need for Speed world (BF3 gets recognized automatically)
 • sometimes I find posts where people write about e.g. GTA IV in 3d. That game doesn't appear in the list at all. Is there kind of a workaround for other games to force stereoscopic rendering?

My System: Win 7, 64bit, NVIDIA GTX 560ti

Thanks!

I gets a little frustrating now. The only game I could play in 3D was BF3. I downloaded some other demos now (Stone Giant, Depth Hunter Trial, Mafia II Trial) and no one in 3d. When I turn on Depth Hunter on my normal PC screen there appears the message saying "nvidia vision ready" and I can see it in red/green 3d. But no message when I turn on the projector. For none of the games. Anyway, how do I see if 3DTV Play is running? When I look at the nvidia system control there is the checkbox to acitvate stereoscopic view. But the slider and the two buttons stay greyed out. The nvidia test view works. I can see it in 3d. Maybe someone can tell me a game which should definitely work? I wasn't able to figure out the meaning of the games list yet... Thanks for help!

sobo, if you're running 3DTV play when you activate the checkbox for "Enable stereo 3D" you have to pass some kind of a wizzard. When finish the wizzard the checkbox and slider for depth have to remain on (not greyed out) and you have to see the 3DTV play Logo in the right. somethink like THIS Can you successfully pass the wizzard??

BF3 has "native stereoscopic support" built into the game, that's why it works and others do not. For the others you need middleware such as 3DTV Play or TriDef. http://www.nvidia.com/object/3dtv-play-overview.html Since your projector is not listed on the 3DTV Play requirement/supported list, you'll most likely have to submit the EDID by following the instructions at http://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/2774

Thank you very much for the answers. No I don't see the wizard. Nothing happens when I activate the checkbox. Here is a screenshot: On the right it says "Download 3DTV Play to enjoy 3d...". On the left it says: "stereoscopic 3d display type: HDMI Blue Ray 3D" When my projector is connected, the slider and the buttons are active and it says "stereoscopic 3d display type: nvidia discover". But no wizard either. @D-Man11: I did that yesterday because I read something in another post about it. Well but it makes sense. I just didn't understand why some games are working and some not. But as you say, BF3 is native 3D. So maybe I have to wait. Edit: I just installed the latest beta drivers 310.11 and the wizard appears. Everything seems to work there. I can do the tests with left eye/right eye etc... But afterwards no difference. Looks like on the image above. No logo, buttons and slider greyed out. The supported model is the TW6000, mine is the 6100. I thought since it's basically the same model, just a different version, it could work... And one more question: how does the 3DTV Play activation utility work? I installed it but don't know how to start it. On the website it says "go to C:Program Files (x86)NVIDIA Corporation3DTV and start 3dtvserializer.exe". When I do that a black window appears and closes immediately. That's it. Thank you.

Native 3D = no need for 3rd party software (middleware). NON NATIVE 3D = pay for 3DTV Play or TriDef or buy a 3D Vision certified Display. YOU need to try the 3DTV Play Trial, then buy it for $40 if you like it. 3D Vision Discover is RED/BLUE ANAGLYPH. Like the the DVDs that use Paper Glasses. The HDMI Blu-ray 3D just means it capable of 3D Blu-ray playback using a 3RD PARTY software such as Corel, Arcsoft or Cyberlink.

I understood that. Actually I bought 3DTV Play right in the beginning but I can't activate it. The wizard starts and I can pass it but in the end nothing changes. Edit: now I get the message "your operating system is not supported. You need at least Windows Vista" when I try to install the activation utility.

You should not be having a problem using W7 64 bit. I think you overlooked where I said """""Since your projector is not listed on the 3DTV Play requirement/supported list, you'll most likely have to submit the EDID by following the instructions at http://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/2774 """"" That is, I see the EH-TW6000 is supported but not the TW 6100.

Yes thanks, I saw that. I did that yesterday already because I read something about it in another post.

I downloaded it and ran the wizard many times already. No success. The list is not very old. The TW6000 is in the list and it doesn't exist very long yet. I wrote a message to the nvidia support. They couldn't really help me. Basically it says "since it's not in the list it may work or not" :-/

What message do you get? You have 2 options: 1) You can search on the web or ask for the EDID of the EH-TW6000. Use that EDID and try. OR 2) Do what D-Man11 wrote (http://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/2774) -> Long term

Thanks, I did Nr 2 already. Still wating for a result. But can you tell me what you mean by Nr 1 exactly? The message was: Yes as you rightly said the Epson EH-TW 6100 is not listed in the NVIDIA 3D TV play, hence it may or it may not work, Also the Projector is using a 2D to 3D converter built in the Projector as per the system requirements also have mentioned the Link below for the Projector, It is using a different technology than the NVIDIA, hence it may or it may not work. Please find the System requirements below for the NVIDIA 3D TV Play.

I mean the wizzard message. EDID info: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Extended_display_identification_data Basically, if you use the EH-TW6000 instead of the TW-6100 ("real") you can fool the driver making it believe you´re using TW6000 (may or may not works...you have to test). In this forum, you can search for more info: http://3dvision-blog.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=13

Maybe I'm wrong but by wizard you mean the window where you have to close your left eye/ right eye and say what you see right? In the end it says everything is fine. Yesterday I tried that: http://forums.redflagdeals.com/nvidia-3dtv-play-mod-sony-playstation-3d-display-1175972/ without success. Didn't try it with a TW6000 yet. I will try to find one. When I click on system information in the nvidia control panel, 3DTV Play doesn't show up in the components menu. Only in the license menu together with the serial.
