Joker18, is it working on your TV LG55UC970?
So I tested and can confirm working on the following hardware:
Benq w1300 - original Edid ( Checkerboard output selected in NV control Panel)
4K LGTV55UC970 - edid mod for 4K interleaved - not really useful here but I tested just to confirm.
Games I tested:
Dying Light - Working
Fallout 4 - Working
MGS Phantom pain - Not Working - 3D is active but I cannot cycle trough outputs
GTA V - Not working - No DX 10 11 adapter ... error.

Yeah, MGSV does something a bit unusual around it's present call that I need to take a closer look at (either that or my back buffer access code isn't actually working, which is entirely possible). I noticed that problem when I tried to use a custom shader from the [Present] call to debug an AO shader and had to call it from another shader (50369859d35ed1d8) instead, but trying to use the same shader for this resulted in some strange artefacts.
Thanks for testing the other games & hardware :)

This is probably significant enough to warrant a short post on the blog when it's polished up, so I'm not worried about moving this to yet another thread.
i don't know why the ALT-F1 end up like that....double 3D)
It's because of the way this works - 3D Vision is still enabled, so I still have to provide it images for both eyes - so I provide it the same image to both eyes so that it effectively outputs a mono image, and that image is either SBS or TAB. Taking a screenshot with Steam would be enough to get the stereo view in this case.

If nvidia managed to get 2D 4K working at 60hz over HDMI 1.4 using 4:2:0 colour chroma why can't we get 1080p 3D 60hz over hdmi 1.4 using similar colour compression?
It's not like colour is 3D's strongest point anyway.
Surely 1080 3D 60hz uses less bandwidth than 4K 2D 60hz?
I also really want to try this method you are all discussing. I have a Panasonic PTAE6000 projector and would love to game in 1080p 3D 60hz on it.
Also I know it's a hdmi bandwidth limitation but I remember reading that HDMI 1.4 can do 1080p 3D at 60hz but it was an optional feature of HDMI 1.4 and not a mandatory one, so I don't think many manufacturers implemented it.
Can someone please make a guide on how to do the SBS or checkerboard 1080p 60hz with 3DTV Play please?
There doesn't seem to be an actual guide or instructions.
Isn't it a shame that all these posts and workarounds/hacks over the years are all because nvidia don't give a single shit about their customers!
The need to give something back, the amount of money they have made recently is a joke.
They make billions a year but can't keep their 3D software for their 3D graphics cards moving with the times?!? Who's driving this company?
Doesn't fair well for Nvidias potential VR support.
Who would buy into nvidias propriety VR tech after being treated like crap as a 3D customer for nigh on half a decade?
That's why I'm upgrading my 980ti to AMD next time. I want VR to be supported with open standards, in fact, scrap that.
I want VR to be supported at the start and after the honeymoon/cash in period open standards or not I want support for the products I buy!
If the past is anything to go by nvidia will lock it down, milk it then drop it for holo lens in a year or two.
Thanks for everyone for the fixes and work arounds. It's such a shame nvidia can't rise to the plate.
I don't know wether to laugh or cry.
All those promises about SBS and higher resolutions and refresh rates and we got nothing!
They move the 3D team to work on the shield?!?!? The shield is a flop, they need to drop that crap and get back on the 3D bandwagon.

You say you managed to use 4K on a non 4K device? It sounds impossible. Or maybe your device was able to do 4K but the cable wasn't
I can't imagine how the projector would handle a 1080P @60hz full 3D signal. He would not know what to do with it.
Joker I think you need to read my post again. You seemed to have misunderstood my point.
Nvidia brought a driver out that enabled people with 4K screens to run 4K 60hz over HDMI 1.4. (it was 4K 30hz over HDMI 1.4)

Hi Joker. Is there any benefit to SBS for us running the Acer 4K passive mod? Would it help us with 1080p 60hz SBS mode or is it possible to run SBS mode in resolutions like 1440p, etc?

Thank you so much DSS. :D
I've tested on with my PS3 3D display and Asus VG23AH, and it works beautifully.
SFV and The Witcher 3 - working.
p.s: I've also tested on with the pcsx2 emulator and I did get the SBS output, but couldn't get the convergence to work. Even though the result is still impressive though.
Thanks again DSS. :P

It is not really a benefit to use it for passive display because in this case you already have 1080p or even 2160p image in native mode (interleaved). This mod is intended for the ones that use 3dtvplay on projectors and active 3d tv's and were stuck with 720p
