Hi everyone, due to high cost of 120Hz capable monitor, I am thinking of buying a LCD monitor with 60Hz frame rate and then use nVidia 3D vision kit with it. Would it (3D) work? I am planning to buy a GTX 460 1GB.

No, it will NOT ! You need a 120 Hz monitor, like the one in my signature.
Read the BASICS of 3D Vision before making any hasty purchase and regretting later here http://www.nvidia.co.in/object/3d-vision-about-in.html .
Also, if you want a good experience with 3D Vision better SLI that 460 GTX or else go for the 480 GTX and go SLI later !

Can you please explain why? Its just like playing a game at 60 fps, or should I say 30fps for each eye? Imagine playing a game at 60fps on a 120Hz monitor with 3D vision? Shouldn't it work?

FPS you get in game has nothing to do with 3D vision. So don't mix things up. You need 120Hz display otherwise use anaglyph mode with red/cyan glasses. But using anaglyph mode is not a good experience compared to full 3d experience with 3D vision on 120Hz display. Our visual system can not fuse left and right eye views at lower frequency like 60 Hz and the illusion of 3D is broken. Thats why we need 120Hz display.
