So, I came across a good deal for a reference 2gb Evga GTX 680 for $380 brand new. It's got me debating whether I should get it and sell my 2 refernce 1.5 GB Evga GTX 580's. Since 3D vision is probably among the most graphically taxing way to play games I thought I would ask here.
Oh, and I'm only running 1920x1080p on a single Asus vg278h.
Thanks.

2 580's are much faster then 1 680 BUT when you upgrade you'd have to toss/sell 2 card's. 1 680 is the smarter choice overall though imo. Basically if you get 2 580's you are committing to skipping this generation of cards.
BTW. 380 for a 680 is a great deal. Hop on it.

I'm not sure I'm clear on you're suggestion. Are you saying I should skip the 600 series and wait for 700 series since I already have 580's?
Also any idea when the 700 series will be available?
I would buy the 680. Price is good at performance and leaves room for upgrading [SLI]
If you buy the 580's. Its just a huge hassle and you commit to skipping the 600 series.
No date is known for 700 series. I seriously doubt it will come out 2013 but maybe late.

I don't think you understood his question correctly eqzitara. He already has the 580's and he is thinking if it would be a smart choice to buy a 680 to replace his 580's. My opinion is that you shouldn't. The 580's in SLI are faster than the one 680, especially at the resolution you're playing at and also imo running 3D Vision benefits from having an SLI setup compared to a one gpu setup. Of course you could buy another 680 later on and SLI them but if I were you I would wait for the next gen and then upgrade to the fastest model.

Yea, I need to stop skimming = / totally my bad. I was sidetracked I guess.
The price for the 680 is very good but definetly not worth the leap imo especially since you will be downgrading till you sli.
