NEW 1080P 3D Beamers fr SONY & JVC X7 TESTED tested and compared with acer h5360 DL
I've just returned from a test screening in a home theater chop with new high end projectors; from SONY the VW90 model and from JVC the X7 top of the line projector. Both FullHD 3D Ready. My conclusion of this is simple, If you are a owner of a dlp 3D ready projector, be very happy. These high end beamers has nothing new to offer in the 3D arena.

As a owner of the Acer h5360 I was especially interested in the 3D performance from these expensive products in a direct comparison when I went to examine the SONY VW90 and JVC X7 for a test run.

One noticeable difference is that these two connects with hdmi 1.4 and works with any 3d blu-ray player directly connected. Now in 2-D performance there's no doubt, they both blow the 720p acer off the charts in both color, detail and black levels. Only in plain lamp brightness can the acer beat these two as they are built only for dedicated cinema rooms. And to be fair the JVC stands on a thrown of its own when it comes to black level details. On the other hand I would say the SONY had a more 3-D feel in 2D movies when watching brighter scenes and also more sharpness then the JVC which felt more softer in the image, like a plasma tv compared to lcd.

When switching to a 3D movie you loose allot of the extra fine features you pay for in a high end product like these two. This is because of the 3D glasses that dim the light and upsets the colors. The JVC did have a 3D mode that tries to fix and correct the colors and both beamers are set on high lamp level. But that only helps to a sertain limit. The final picture quality when looking on 3D is no different then using the Nvidia glasses on a dlp projector in 720p, is my settled view. There's even some ghosting going on in the JVC that I detected on some occasions something I never saw on my acer dlp back home. The SONY has a refresh rate of 240hz so the ghosting should be close to zero here as well but unfortunately I never got the chance to test that, judging by other reviews It really bad ghosting.

With a price of 1/20 the price of these high end monsters I would say I'm more then happy with my acer. I did leave that place with an evil smile on my face knowing how much money I saved on my dlp deal.

thanks nvidia I guess

Imagine H5360 with laser light source, that'd cut thru the shutterglasses like glowing knife & butter. Plus you'd have nearly perfect blacks too.

Without laser light source, Im going to build a curved silverscreen . My current silverscreen is not bright enough.
