Ok, so I've been thinking about getting a new TV and if I do get one I want to make sure it can use 3D vision as I'm sure I will want to get it eventually.
So I just want to make sure I got this right. The HDTV can't just be 120hz it also has to be DLP?
I assume then that these two TVs would not work:
Samsung
LG
Does that mean the display type as to read as Rear-projection DLP?
I suppose it would be just better to buy one of the LCD computer monitors instead, much cheaper.

If the TV supports 120Hz input form the PC it should be Ok, but these two are most likely not "true" 120H, but instead use an internal algorithm to achieve 120Hz form the incoming low frame rate video...

No, those tvs will not work. Its not just about being 120Hz, there are specific things that must be met for a tv to be 3D-Ready. There are a bunch of models from Mitsubishi and some older Samsung models that will work.
Here is a list of officially supported displays:

Here is a full list of every 3D HDTV on the market (but not all necessarily work with Nvidia 3D Vision):

Hi, I have a 50 inch Samsung PS50B450 plasma that works great for 3d, the 3d resolution of this set is 1360x768 @60Hz carried through a DVI/HDMI cable but the set displays at 120Hz as each frame in the 60Hz is transmits 2 frames that the set decodes the only problem is this uses all the available bandwidth and sound must be transmited by a seperate cable.
It seems sony, lg, panasonic are all going the plasma/shutter glasses way as plasmas refresh much better and are vastly brighter. The PS50B450 has a good picture in 2d also compared to LCD sets that are many times its cost? research and have a look at one with nvidia's 3d vision, I do not think you will consider samsungs 22 inch after this experience.

Hey, I'm curious about this, are you sure that Plasma TV's works with 3D Vision, have you tested it???
See, I bought the kit, Samsung 2233rz 3D ready display + 3D Vision Shutter glasses and I loved the new tech, it's amazing.
Anyway, I also have a Panasonic Plasma 50" FULL HD model TH50PZ80 and it's not listed in Nvdia compatible list of displays and HDTV's. Also your Samsung Plasma is not listed in this list.
Check out this link: http://www.nvidia.com/object/3D_Vision_Requirements.html
I know Plasmas are awesome and way better than LCD, besides having 480hz it's refresh rate is still 60hz, it only have a intelligent frame, auto motion plus mode but Nvidia says it won't work.
Btw, I also use a HDMI/DVI cable to connected my Plasma TV to the PC and sound is also transmitted through the same cable. This depends on you video card, 9800GX2, GTX 260 and GTX 280 having a SPDIF cable connected to the mobo which makes the HDMI/DVI cable transmits sound as well as the image.
Please let me know if my Plasma TV will work with 3D Vision glasses and I'll be happy to try it out. But I think you are mistaking cause the refresh rate of these Plasma TV's are 60hz besides having 480hz of subfield driver.

Samsung PS50B450 (PN50B450 in U.S.) is 3Dready!
As well as the PS42B450 (PN42B450 in U.S.).
(Samsung does not mention this feature and does not promote it as being 3Dready)
We got one and it fully works for games, photos and videos using 3Dvision as long as your PC fulfills the nVidia PC requirements.
Currently there are no 3Dready higher series models of Samsung than series 4. (the A450 and A476 is also 3Dready)
Best way to find out is checking the manual if the TV has a "3D port" at the back (3-pin VESA plug)

Really, I didn't know that. I wonder why Samsung doesn't mention that??? I wish my Panasonic Plasma had that function, but I don't see this VESA plug in the back of my Plasma TV. Also, if Nvidia is aware of that it should include the model in it's compatible list.

I suppose it would be just better to buy one of the LCD computer monitors instead, much cheaper.
Thanks.
