Opinions seeked on the Samsung DLP HL61A750
Guys, I'm ready to pull the trigger on the Samsung DLP HDTV, HL61A750 to mainly play with my 3D Vision and seeking for naysayer/supporter of this TV's opinions.

Also, I got couple purchase options both are around 1500-1600 USD on Amazon and Best Buy. Any comment/advice welcomed!

First off, this T.V. Rocks for movies and regular T.V.
Second this T.V. for gaming with 3d Vision has Great quality with little to no ghosting (Compared to LCD 3d T.V.'s

Third there was a red tint issue (Which was barly noticable), now Nvidia fixed that problem so no more red tint

Great T.V. (Period)

I bought 10 T.V.s from Costco and returned all of them until I bought this on Amazon and I have had it for 4 months and I love this T.V.

For 3d Vision this T.V. is AMAZING. BUY THIS T.V.

Hey, personally TV is wicked. Its cheeper than the rest, its the best for PC gaming (dlp that is) and this new modle is LED backlit, so it is isntantly on / off with no problems. Plus it has plenty of connections for multiple setups... 3HDMI etc.

As far as the 3d vision goes, I just got done setting it all up last night... l4d is the BOMB.

All my issues with the 3d is on Nvidias side or the lacking power of my PC.

If I have any issues, there is only 1 and that is that you will get a red tint on your TV while gaming in 3D... but with Nvidia's new drivers when you put the glasses on that magically disappears, so no worries.

I think the TV is the greatest bang for your buck man... but if your looking to do blu-ray by chance, just know that LCDs are leading in that field... your not going to get the exact same quality that you see at bestbuy on your DLP display.

Hope that helps.

Not sure what you mean here. Blurays on a properly setup LED DLP look as good as they do on any other technology anywhere close to this price range.

Otherwise, I pretty much agree with what else has been said in this thread, I wish we would get some official update on when/if they are going to fix things so we can play in 3D with no overscan. That is the main remaining issue compared to Mits DLP that I know of, and I imagine this is going to be a little trickier to fix than the red tint issue.

Also, not related to 3D Vision but Sammy DLPs are notorious for geometry/focus issues depending on the set you get. This bothers some people, others it doesn't. With this being in short supply, if it does bother you, you may be in for a difficult time getting one you are happy with.

ummm.. here are a couple of things I bought.

I went to Office Depo and bought a lap desk for my mouse and keyboard.

Then I went to my local PC shop, and bought a 15 foot usb cord, to hook up a 4 port usb hub, to plug my keyboard/mouse/usb headset/3D vision glasses charger into.

This way, you dont have to spend $$ into a wireless solution ($5 for the cord and $15 for the usb hub), and you can charge your glasses right by your lazyboy chair so you have plenty of cord and not hindered by that.

Thats all I really bough... oh yeah, and the $1600 TV and the $300 graphics card and the $200 3D kit... lol

I have this TV. It's amazing for 3D, blue ray. ANYTHING. This TV is the bomb. I haven't had any problems with it. 3D is truly amazing on this set. That's all I have to say. :magic:

It finally arrived today.

Setup is a cinch, I left all picture quality adjustments at default, only increase brightness for S3D. My god, the ease of which this DLP TV produces S3D effect is beyond my expectation. And yes, I believe it is pageflipped with full glorious ghost free, flicker free resolution. Even my wife, never could endure more than a few seconds with previous generations of LCD glass + CRT combo, can watch while I play for long stretches and commented favorably on the 3DVision + Sammy, that's when I know this solution IS the best. /yes.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

The color oh the color, even at default it is movie like and not at all like that of the other 40in Sammy LCD HDTV I have, and I haven't even counted in the size of this TV. At 61 it really makes the 40in LCD looks inadequate and of course, all these great features at half the price of the LCD's.

Highly recommended for S3D gaming (it also looks fabulous with HDTV channels, much better than the LCD I got. Haven't tried blue ray yet.)

EDIT: Just got more info, turns out it's called the DLP 3D format - not pageflip as I thought. However the resolution is still fully kept in DLP 3D format which is the reason I mistaken it for pageflip. Below is an excerpt from TI white paper:

'...Texas Instruments has released new DLP®
3-D Technology to its OEMs in early 2007.
OEMs such as Samsung have announced
production of DLP® Television sets which
utilize this technology to show superior
stereographic video.
The DLP® 3-D Technology uses an
innovative format that allows for the left and
right images to be combined into a single
frame. This format preserves the horizontal
and vertical resolution of the left and right
views and enables superior viewing
experiences. Methods for creating
stereographic content are fairly simple and
can be accomplished with technology
available to the public today. Still images
can be converted to the stereographic
format using tools such as Adobe
Photoshop. Video may also be converted to
the format using video editing programs
such as Adobe Premier...'
