NVIDIA: ARE YOU STILL SUPPORTING DLPs and CRTs? Andrew: We're waiting for a solution while we ca
  1 / 2
1.16 and 1.17 DO NOT have CRT and DLP support despite saying they are supported in the release notes. Avatar the game is out and all of us w/ this issue can't play it. It's the only reason I got 3D Vision in the first place.

Andrew, nVidia - What is going on?

Is this going to be fixed?

When will it be fixed?

What is the status?

Are we SOL? (Important, because I need to know whether or not I need to deter everyone I know from nVidia products from this point forward or not - online and in person.)

Let's get a status update, it's a bit ridiculous at this point...

You'd think this was some crap off-brand, but nope... Just getting the same customer service while paying for... well I'm not sure I know what we're paying more for...

Deep breaths... :) It seems it's an error, not abandonment of support. I can understand the frustration though, but I'm guessing it will be fixed:

You're right, I need to take a deep breath. :) However, nVidia needs to know the urgency as well! I sent in feedback when 1.16 came out, then also did when 1.17 came out and not so much as an email back. :(

Heheh...there must be a reason why Nvidia share crashed from 40 down to 10 last year and while the market has recoverd 70% since then Nvidia still is at low teens.

The scenario could easily be like this: the only dev who works on 3DVision driver has gone on vacation and we are SOL until he comes back. Nvidia is running low on verything these days it seems.

It's a travesty that it sits right on the opportunity but somehow just couldn't handle the situation right.

Yea, that's pretty lousy. I'd be upset as well. Hopefully it won't be long.

Even thought they don't help your issue, at least the updates seem to be coming pretty regularly. Says to me that someone, even if they're not fixing the major issues, is still actively working on the product.

I hope you get it straightened out, because (and not to make it worse) Avatar is amazing looking in 3d. Game is so-so, but your jaw will hit the floor in places. And that's just on my 22" monitor, I can't imagine what it will look like on your big screen.

+1 for CC. -100 for Nvidia's 3D Vision management. Why can 3D companies that do not even make graphics cards and collaborate in game development like iZ3D have numerous features Nvidia does not such as, auto convergence, support all 3D displays (not just their own) and can now even offer shutter glass support except for Nvidia that they state they would like to offer but can not due to Nvidia not allowing independent support of its' product!!!

Help nvidia improve / survive, make them aware that having a great product without reasonable features and support is not enough, especially in light of the emerging capabilities of their 3D competitors i.e. ATI+ iZ3D/Tridef drivers + 3D ready display with non-Nvidia shutter glasses (as these are locked out via nvidia emmitter key).

it would be interesting to know if Nvidia's official support response has changed yet, though. And has anybody with Mits "supported" DLP responded that it still works or not?

I agree, I have not been able to use the latest drivers either, but I assume Nvidia is busy trying to make our 3d experience better. I'm sure CES 2010 is going to have a lot of announcements regarding 3D Vision.

Its only a matter of time before we can use Google Earth in 3D

No offense, but if driver releases are going to continue to break working things, everything else doesn't really matter. As I've stated elsewhere, if Nvidia doesn't have the resources to test basic functionality for a large chunk of their users, even if they are on "unsupported" devices, it should be easy for them to recruit a few of us to test basic functionality for them, and avoid future incidents like this.

Hello everyone,

I have a new Mits DLP WD-73837 and have no problems with 1.16 or 1.17 drivers detecting my DLP. The 3d vision install wizard sees my tv with no problems. All of my current games work fine with either one of these drivers (L4D2, Dragon Origins, MW2, Borderlands).

My specs:

Windows 7 64-bit
Intel QuadCore Extreme 2.66
4 GB DDR2 ram
EVGA GeForce 295 Co-Op
Nvidia 3d Vision 1.17 drivers

Sorry to hear some many of you are having issues...but I'm living proof that Nviida STILL supports DLP's.

Because I already sent in 2 feedback/bug reports with no acknowledgment from nVidia. Also, enough noise may eventually get to nVidia and some new info may trickle down to us peers, then we are able to share it. Why do you care anyways? I assume you are not affected by the issue.

Speedkilz: I'm glad to hear that it's working for you. When did you download the new drivers?

I download new drivers as soon as they are available. I'm always looking for the next new profiles and/or improvements like most of us!!

Wonder what makes my setup different from yours? Maybe the model/year of DLP I'm using?
