Official 334.67 Driver Thread for New 3D Vision Game Support Feedback
4 / 17
Awesome news NVIDIA! "Hell... It's about time!"
I really like this idea for completely broken games like AC3 - AC4... I really do!
But:
1. Please add 3D Vision Surround support! as soon as possible! Pretty please!
2. I know that if you develop this tech even further we all will get spectacular results!
3. Making a shader debugger/fixer (at least part of an SDK) is a very very good thing! As most of us here are complete nerds and would just kill to have this in an SDK!!!
Also, did I mention adding support for 3D Vision Surround?:))
@all other people: You don't like it...you don't use it. Simple as that! You wanted something from NVIDIA, they showed they still care about us. And before you bash them too hard...this is A BETA not even an official FULL release! So I don't get it why you complain so much about....The man didn't reach the moon on the 1st attempt you know...
Again awesome job NVIDIA!

" I figure something: When you try to increase convergence too much it becomes flat!!!
So the best I found is like BOB explained in another thread: remove you 3D glasses and crank the convergence till your person is at depth screen (not dedoubled) put your 3D glasses and it's much better now!
I just test it n AC liberation and I'll test this on AC4 and Splnter cell blacklist

I agree. It's good they're doing something, and it IS better than 2d. But they should definitely implement these other suggestions.
Allright, now that ive been playing ac3 for a while, ill have to say that im really glad this feature was added. Tested on my projector(120"), 3d tv(42") and pc monitor(24"). Projector was easily the best way to experience it, as it is with 3d vision. Halo's around foliagle and main character was almost all gone, and stereo image was solid throughout my session. Effect was little lacking compared to what im used to, but after adjusting convergence, i was happy with it.
SteveK, is it easy to implement this 3d method into a game, if its not supported by real 3dv? And can we do it somehow? Lets say, if a new game comes along, without a profile(like assassins creed liberation) can we somehow turn on this 3d? Ac liberations worked just fine when i put its exe file into ac3 profile. But its really similar to ac3(same engine), so it might be exception. Looking forward to play more games in 3d, thanks nVidia!
Glad you are enjoying the games! As for your question - the idea is that we'll be able to add this support for DX10/11 games ourselves in future driver releases. Perhaps a new thread with DX10/11 game requests would be a good idea. Hopefully we can continue to refine the technology and expand upon it in future driver releases. Rest assured the ideas presented hear are being heard. Thanks to everyone for contributing.

While this new 3D implementation might not be the holy grail of 3D, it is a great joy and relief to see that the folks at nvidia haven't given up on 3D Vision after all. It's a bit unfair to start bashing them right now.
Please keep up the good work, and please keep in touch with the developers of all the next gen engines that will become relevant in the next years so that the will support the technology ... perhaps it's not so difficult after all, especially when those engines are designed with the oculus rift in mind ;)
The improvement in SC:Blacklist alone makes this a great release for me!

Awesome!
Just tried Shogun2 and it looks great ! AC4 looks good too but the performance impact on my rig is too much (if i don't lower the resolution to 1600x900).
Can't wait for a Rome 2 profile.
Bad note on performance side. I get a lot more fps on "another product" power3d. lol.

People need to give it time and try it. Depth buffer doesnt really require individual "patches" for most part. Its like 3d vision profiles.

same for me at first launch of AC4 with this driver, but when I relaunched it, everything runs smooth :)
I think this is a good feature and it's the kind of thing that 3d vision has been severely lacking for some time compared to the competition.
Dare I ask, is there any kind of road map for additional 3d vision functionality?
In a lifetime gone by, I'm sure Andrew said you would be adding support for Side-by-Side and other output formats.
It's little things like this that add up to make 3d vision a full product.
Oh, and also, 3d vision surround, please, asap :-)

I really wanted to come on here and give nothing but support and a big thank you to Nvidia. This is a community that has felt neglected, so it is terrific to know that it isn't completely the case.
However, this also has a feeling of giving us the "Acura Cake" when we asked for a "Ferrari Cake". Admittedly, myself and some others here are going to come off sounding spoiled and bratty. We asked for perfect, beautiful, fully implemented, real 3D Vision for dx11 games, and instead we got this alternative method for creating 3D. And, yes its better than no 3D. But the problem is that this 3D is not better than really good 2D. Simply making a game 3D isn't what makes the technology incredible. The idea is that "real" 3D when done properly is breathtaking every time.
Take AC4 for example. That game is drop-dead gorgeous with all the NVidia goodies turned on in 2D (assuming you have a good enough rig to run it at 30+ fps). But now, that same game looks amateurish with this new 3D. Even with TXAA turned on, jaggies run rampant all over the place. Sailing in the ship is comical. And i literally laughed out loud at the animation for the "splash" in the water from a leap of faith. This new 3D effect does not overcome the loss in fidelity of all the other things that make AC4 a gorgeous game.
I just dont know who is supposed to be satisfied with this new driver and game profiles. Gamers new to 3D are going to look at a game like AC4 with this new driver and not understand what 3D is supposed to be all about and never revisit it. Other gamers familiar with good 3D will see this and know its not good enough.
The biggest problem, NVidia, is that you are the one who spoiled us. You already showed us how good 3D gaming can be. And those of us who know it will never be satisfied with anything less. We really do appreciate being thrown a bone here. Its nice to get some attention at a time when some of us really questioned your commitment to 3D vision. But here's hoping this isn't the future of 3D gaming and we will one day see a NVidia supported solution to "real" 3D in dx11 games.
