Projector and PC 3D vision. Is PC 3D gaming good on a projector?
  1 / 2
Hello.

Im in the process of getting myself a 3D vision system from Nvidia. Cant wait to inmerse myself in the games! But a question that I have had problems finding answers on the internet is:

Is PC 3D gaming on a projector a better experience than a 22" 3D monitor 2 ft away? My options are a ACER H5360 or a Samsung 2233RZ.

I can undestand that projector gives a nice large image but then again the image is 3 meters away. Dosnt such a far away image makes it to loose some of the 3D experince? For this reason, is the 3D experience better on a 21" 3D monitor that is only 2ft away from the eyes?

It has been hard to find answers to this question and trust me I have been searching for over a week on this.

I have managed to find some threads where people claim that 3D gaming is better in a monitor since the eyes dont have to wander all over the place for information.

I presonaly have been playing FPS but normaly Im open to all king of games.

Thanks in advance!

I am new(ish) to 3D vision and I use a DLP projector with my set up.

I can tell you now that it is breathtaking when the right game is played.

Having your whole view taken up by a 3D screen is amazing and while looking at a monitor close up will be similar I dobt it can match up.

Plus there is zero ghosting with a projector.

If I had the option to re-do what I purchased, I would never have bought a 3d 1080p monitor. I would have used that money to buy a better non-3D one. I have an alienware 3d monitor and the acer 5360 and lets just say I only do 3D on the projector. The ghosting ruins everything for me on the monitor. Projectors have no ghosting but does have the rainbow effect if u move ur eyes really fast.

I had my doubts too, waited for bigger monitors or smaller 3d tvs to come out but they didn't so I went for the h5360, and lets just say I won't be gaming in anything other than a projector anytime soon. Gaming on 100'' screen on 3d is just breathtaking.

Thanks for your feedback. It has really made a difference.

What about PC first perso shooters? I guess is not so easy to aim when you are sitting 3 meters away from the image.

Console would probably do OK since the aim is less restrictive, but will it be a problem in PC Gaming?

Why???
You're sitting 3mts away looking at a 100 inches image, not a tiny 22 monitor.
After 3 years gamin g on 100 inches, there is no way I can go back to a tiny 30 inches monitor

100" over 22" any day. 3D is amazing on a Projector.

Add my vote for a projector. I recently started using the Viewsonic 6531W and 3d on a big screen is incredible. The more you can fill your field of view, the more immersive the experience will be. You're obviously entering into a whole new world as far as your room setup goes. You generally can't just drop a projector down in any room and get a great experience. But if you get a decent setup (with a proper screen in a dark room, or a properly painted wall...search for the SilverFire paint mix on avsforums.com), it's going to be incredibly impressive.

Even though you'll only be projecting at 1280x720 on a sub-$1000 projector, it'll still look fantastic and you'll either get higher framerates or be able to turn on more bells and whistles than you would with a higher resolution monitor/desktop setup.

One of the most impressive things I've seen projected was Flight Simulator X. I grabbed a fighter jet and flew it low and fast over a city with a bunch of buildings. Seeing that on a big screen was stunning.
