No 3d Vision settings after windows 10 driver update?
  1 / 2
Yesterday my Windows 10 build updated my Nvidia drivers on me and suddenly I don't have the Stereoscopic 3D settings. I checked that my IR emitter is still in device manager (it is) and the 3D vision driver is installed (it also is, though it's a lower version than the rest of the Nvidia drivers). Is anyone else experiencing this issue or have a workaround?

Ok I just tested this out, the Windows 10 Drivers aren't installing 3D Vision, just the USB Drivers. Edit:They appear to have added the 3D Vision Drivers back into the Windows 10 Drivers, so download and decompress the Windows 10 Drivers instead and then manually install 3D Vision from them. Download a Windows 7 Set of Drivers and Run them, after it Extracts all the files into C:\NVIDIA\ hit Cancel, to Cancel the Installation. Now find the 3D Vision Installer location, something like C:\NVIDIA\DisplayDriver\353.30\Win8_WinVista_Win7_64\International\NV3DVision and Run the 3DVision.exe to Install 3D Vision. Worked fine to enable 3D Vision Discover on my Windows 10 rig. :)

Lol ... I kind of optimistically doubt 3D Vision is going anywhere, with VR around the corner and NVIDIA touting that VR Direct and 3D Vision would be working together. Maybe this is all part of a transition to something else. ;)

You can just use 7zip or WinRAR and directly extract the Nvidia drivers wherever you want, you can also selectively extract only the 3d vision portion without needing to extract the whole thing. This also comes in handy if you have less than 2GB's of space on your C: drive and need to update your drivers, some of you may have noticed that despite NV driver issues, the drivers are getting MUCH bigger than they used to be only a couple of years ago, so with all things from games to drivers to gadgets to video taking up more and more room, flexibility is very important. ~Nutz

It really seems Nvidia will stab us in the back AGAIN (first with 3D on CRT monitors). I just saw this thread: https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/846046/3d-vision/3dtv-play-activation-not-working-/ So: - the matter of the latest 3D drivers being broken in many places - no support in newest monitors, even the ones with 120Hz and even some with G-sync, if I'm not wrong. - 2015, and we still don't see any 1080p120 3dvision compatible projector, not to mention 1440p. - W10 and no 3D drivers whatsoever. - now this info about 3dtv servers being shut down. I can't believe it. They kill 3D once again. I didn't even forgive them for the previous knife they gave me when I was enjoying 3D on CRT monitor. For f..ks sake, if they wanted to cut the costs so badly, they could do a kickstarter. We (community) would finanse the 3D team in Nvidia ourselves. But no, let's just throw everything into the bin, and switch to VR which will freeze 3D Vision in ultra-low resolution for the next many years, not to mention the whole library of older games and fixes rendered useless. Bravo. Bra-vo.

Cut their costs? It can't cost them much to keep it going especially when they don't support games or implement new features anymore. All they have to pay for is the activation server upkeep.......hmmmm Did you see how much money nvidia made last year? There is no way I'm buying into nvidia VR software after seeing how they support 3D. They can go suck it.

No support in 3D Vision, no more further investment for new hardware. I started 3 years ago with fantastic 3D Vision, upgraded to SLI and 3D Surround. The 3D Vision mess since DX11 is frustrating enough for me. A few weeks ago i thought about upgrading to 980 Ti @SLI, but I buried this way its meant to be played. Yesterday I sold one of my 780s and downgraded to Single Monitor 3D Vision. All upgrading plans for new Nvidia hardware have been cancelled. Im threadstarter of the biggest 3D Vision discussion thread with 500.000 klicks in western Europe (Signature) and I stopped recommending further investments around Nvidia using 3D Vision to our boardies. My only hope is that this fantastic Community of 3D Vision modders keeps this spirit alive till acceptable VR releases are recommendable for endusers. But in the end looking back I have to say thank you Nvidia for great 3D Vision years. AMD gave a shxxx on 3D long time ago and also 99% of gamers, who call 3D Vision as a useless gimmick. No wonder that Nvidia stopped working on this, its a company and money counts... maybe VR will be the holy treasure... and after VR release everyone is talking about awesome 3D, for sure.

Well at least I got rid of SLI. Have you seen the problems people are having with it? http://answers.ea.com/t5/Battlefield-4/Battlefield-4-amp-HL-on-Windows-10-with-SLI-Crashes/m-p/4695879 http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/417587-windows-10-killing-sli-systems/ http://forum.worldoftanks.eu/index.php?/topic/515912-windows-10-x64-sli-world-of-tanks-lights-flash/

GibsonRed That's exactly what I meant. The costs are laughably small, but for the corporations it's not possible to invest 10$ into something they don't care, even when they throw away millions at the same time. Nvidia kills 3D, AMD was ignorant enough to say "to hell with the gamers" and designed their cards for computing (the 290x and Radeon Fury = total fail, many transistors wasted for overblown compute segment, worhtless for gaming to the point that 980ti beats Fury). Intel is f...cking up PC gaming as well. New Skylake CPUs! Hurray! 3/4 transistors for some integrated crappy iGPU. And then they say "fashion and trends change, and that's why people don't buy as much PCs as they did before". I just repeated the same thing for the X time, sorry for that, but it makes me so angry. SO MUCH. To kill such wonderful thing like PC gaming. What a bunch of utter idiots!
