I just blew 50 dollars on yet another game that was advertised to work with Nvidia 3D vision that does not work.
Part of the system requirements:
"NVIDIA 3D Vision Recommended
OS: Windows Vista or Windows 7
Processor: Intel Core i7 processor
Memory: 2 GB RAM
Graphics: 3D Compatible NVIDIA GeForce 480/570 Series GPU, NVIDIA 3D Vision Kit
DirectX®:
Hard Drive: 10GB of free hard drive space
Sound:
Other: 3D Vision-Ready Display"
Both the single player and multi player are unplayable in 3-D due to 2 primary reasons:
- The shadows are rendered at the wrong depth.
- The iron sight convergence is not dynamic.
This is total bullcrap. I bought the game because Nvidia, Kaos studios, THQ and Steam claimed that it would be playable in 3D vision.
These companies lied to me to get my 50 bucks. There is really no debate about that.
I am sorry, I cant see Homefront listed here, http://www.nvidia.com/object/3d-vision-3d-games.html
This is from the Steam page where I bought the game with my credit card.
What it's doing is recommending what hardware I would need to run the game in 3D vision. This, by way of infallible deductive reasoning, implies that the game will indeed work with Nvidia 3D Vision if I meet these requirements, which I do.

Then, legally, they should have added this line at the end of the system requirements:
"As of the release day of Homefront, these system requirements for NVIDIA 3D Vision are null and void because we (Nvidia and our partners) have not implemented 3D vision into the game. The implementation of 3D vision into Homefront is indefinite. In fact, it may never be implemented."
They would need to stipulate this "fine print" in order to avoid fraud in most legal circles.

There are only a handful of games that have *zero* issues with 3D and that list is easily found as well as being already linked in this thread. Shadows are not an uncommon issue (have you tried lowering/disabling them?), although the convergence issue is a bit more weird. This sounds like an issue of the game publisher misstating requirements, I imagine you'll have better luck with them or Steam if you truly want a refund. The implied legal threats do nothing to help your cause though.

Usually the problems lay squarely at the feet of the developer. I would wait for the new drivers and a official profile before getting too twisted out of shape. If it still doesn't work, then that would be a problem with the devs not following the instructions put forward by nVidia for creating 3d ready content. nV is more than happy to work with developers to make games 3d ready, but it doesn't help when their advice is ignored. No profile in the universe can fix 3d vision in a game where the devs completely screwed things up for 3d.

To me, 3D Vision Ready and 3D Supported games can produce two different experiences for the user. But, i understand LucLongley23's frustration and annoyances especially when the Homefront dev's say this...... "In terms of the quality of 3D, the developer assured gamers that it was going to be awesome. "We showed it off at CES earlier this year, it looked rad," the blog read".

Visually, homefront is very good under 3D Vision, I see no problems at all. But the performance is very poor. It acts like vsync is stuck on, the frames always want to be at 30 unless you get to a low demand scene where they'll jump to 60. Like it is locked at those two values (usually 30). I hope this gets fixed because it's unacceptably rough at 30 fps, no fun.

Apparently, the "doesn't work" folks have the wrong set up. This is tested to "work", work defined below.
samsung plasma pn63c7000
driver 267.24
rollermod.inf EDID override
"work" = game launches in 3D checkerboard, visuals are very good, no excessive ghosting or other artifacts, good depth, seperation. Framerate is very poor. In 2D, I get 100-120 fps. In 3D, 30 fps constant except occasionally it will spike up to constant 60 fps occasionally in low demand scenes. Somehow, the game seems locked to vsync in 3D, but not in 2D. I would like for someone to report whether or not they are getting similar performance.

According to the NVIDIA FAQ Vsync is required for 3D Stereo, please leave it enabled if you are using your glasses.
