Tomb Raider 2013 - flat fire
Hello, I've just started TR2013, managing to have 3D working very well (except for crosshair, of course), flawlessly maxed out after an hour or so of gameplay, after trying all graphics settings, I realized that the fire of the torch held in hand is totally flat .... so my question is whether simply I had not noticed it since the start of the game and some objects won't go in 3D vision, or I changed anyrhing via gfx options, then altering 3D vision somewhat (sorry, I'm not an expert) thanks

What do you mean by flat? The way I experience it, I see a plane where they mapped an animated fire texture, so yes flat in that sense, but it reads correct in 3D depth. I do find the 3D amazing for this game, but unfortunately like you mentioned it is unplayable in that mode because of crosshair issue, which is true for COD black Ops II and Hitman Absolution. To me the crosshair is the most difficult issue I have, and it seems to happen more and more in games. This is my two cents reply

I think you mean it is 2D. It hasnt happened to me though. I recommend relaunching game and see if it happens again.

Betrand, I'm sorry for my english: by "flat" I mean that when 3D vision is on, I see the a 2D fire on the torch, like a flat animated surface at this time the only solution I have to the crosshair issue is; patience to aim when hunting, deactivating 3D vision in combat; yet I'm coming from a wonderful 3Dvision experience in Dead Space 3 with the Helix fix: perfect visualization of crosshair, everything (volumetric objects; lights, vapours) perfectly 3D...so there is hope that someone is capable to fix this too :-)

I keep reading "Tomb Raider 2013 - flat tire" :D The fire is 2D, it's not polygonal. I think a lot of effects are 2D in games but there's just so many of them layered on top of each other and they're displayed at the proper depth that it isn't that noticeable. Honestly, I didn't even notice the torch's fire was 2D until I was looking through the screenshots I had taken.

Can you not disable the crosshair all together, is there an option to turn off the crosshair in game menu (I can't remember seeing one) or enable NVidia's 3d crosshair?

I would love to find a solution though. Unbelievable that a game that optimized has such a simple yet serious flaw...

I am using 3way sli with 3x GTX660tiSC 3GB on Samsung 3dvision 3d monitor (1680x1050) and 3dvision glasses, everything maxed out including tessellation and tressfx with no issues at all (using the hitman abs profile) Benchmark shows average of 48fps (minimum 22 max 62), it is the best looking game in 3d so far. to solve the crosshair issue, you can decrease depth and increase strength in settings... I still think that the glacier2 engine (aka crystal engine) looks better at this point then unreal3 or cryengine3. Unfortunately, the fire is not volumetric which I don't know why clouds can be done like that and fire not... But the immersion and cinematic ambient combined with the level of dx11 features implemented in this game are at a level not seen before in any other game. This game just set the benchmark for the next coming games so high, I don't know if we will see anything better for a while..
