Tridef works well on the 55" Samsung 3DTV I just bought. Black Flag runs well but I am guessing the profile disables or turns down some effects because I get a lot of aliasing in the game even with SMAA turned on and the graphics are lower quality also. On a pirate-related note, I can finally play Risen 2 in 3D with Tridef. The game has shadows that are hard to fix in 3D Vision and the game looks strange with them disabled.

I bit the bullet and have been playing this in 2D. It's amazing. I loved AC2 and Brotherhood, though got bored of the formula by Revelations. Gave AC3 a try though got bored of it too. I almost didn't bother with AC4, but I'm glad I did. It's excellent. The series' first likeable character for me, a bit less of the conspiracy bollocks, and lots of really great scenery and pirate fun. Easily one of the best open-world games ever for me. And the naval stuff is very impressive from a technical and aesthetic viewpoint. It would look fantastic in 3D! Though I figured I may as play in 2D, since by the time the dx11 helixmod arrives, AC5 will be out :D (that's not a comment on the speed of Helix's wrapper, but on the speed with which ubisoft churn these games out). Also, I'm getting really nice performance in 2D with TXAAx2 and max everything else, but not quite a solid 60fps. So I certainly didn't feel like trying my luck with Tridef and no SLI.

@Arioch1....don't use SMAA with Tridef, especially with DX11 games....they don´t work together. Use FXAA, is the only option left, because TXAA don't show up if you start the game with Tridef.

I couldn't wait at all to play this game, so I played and finished it in 2D. I did the same with AC3 (my favorite in the series because I love the setting), and I'm more than itching to play that game again in 3D. Before long I will feel the same about AC4. Objectively speaking, I think AC4 is the best in the series. All of the various parts and systems of the game all interconnect perfectly. It's brilliantly designed as far as gameplay. Subjectively AC3 is my favorite because, again, the setting. My only complaint about AC4 is that it feels light on history in comparison to the previous games. There are far fewer real history database entries, and the game even admits that they cheat on the history to maximize gameplay. I loved the continued modern day conspiracy content. I feel it lifts up the whole pirate story, gives it more weight. There has been talk about whether the game would have been better as an original pirate-only game instead of an Assassin's Creed game, but I couldn't disagree more.

Is it worth finishing AC3 first? I didn't dislike it (though I'm yet to actually play as Connor), I've just not made an effort to play it as I'm still hopeful it might receive a 3dv patch.

Modern day story will give you spoilers from ac3 modern day stuff. Pirate story itself(animus) is happening before ac3 setting and connecting some characters together. If you dont care about modern day plot, play black flag. Actually without modern day plot, id prefer black flag first, then ac3.

[quote="zig11727"]I currently own a PS4 and AC4 I can tell you AC4 looks very grainy compare to the PC version and to top it off there is NO 3d support at all on the PS4 version. There will never be a console that is a PC killer. If PCs ceased to exist then the steady jumps in hardware performance we get every year or two would also stop. If it weren't for all of us buying and using this hardware then consoles would still be using single core processors and DDR400 memory. I have an Xbox One and a PS4 and the graphics for a few of the games are excellent. Very impressive. However, they only play at 30 FPS for the most part. For anyone who might not have heard, Sony and Microsoft used PCs to demo their launch games. For instance, Ryse, which is absolutely gorgeous and runs on the Cryengine 3 was demoed on a PC using, apparently a GTX 780 or possibly a Titan. It was running at 1080P at 60 FPS. The release game runs at 900P at 30 FPS. Sony did the exact same thing. But the truth is PCs aren't for most people. Most people don't have the knowledge, money or ambition to deal with all the issues and price tags that go along with being a PC gaming enthusiast. So I usually recommend to most people a console. The PS4 is pretty impressive for $400. For anyone on a budget that's the way to go. A $400 PC would just be a pain in the ass, for the most part. If you really put in a major effort you could build a badass PC for $400, but it would take a while to track down the best deals.

Finally I also played AC 4 in 2D. I decided for the PS4 version, and compared it to a friends PC pendant. It looks exactly the same (textures, polygondetail, lighting and so on). No differences noticable (of course except the physx extentions). I can give a clear recommendation for the PS4 Version of AC4! Btw: With working 3D Vision I would have bought the PC Version at release date! I think I will do it the same way with upcomming releases. Working 3D Vision: PC, 3D Vision broken: PS4

I decided switching from my Nvidia HTPC Sys to an AMD Setup. New AAA titles got bad 3D Vision support, sad but true. I´didnt play AC III and IV because of disappointing 3D Vision support, with AMD and Tridef on my new HTPC it´ll work fine. If this is the future of 3D Vision, I´ll also change my Main SYS completely. My GTX 780 SLI and 3D Vision Sorround plans are also buried. :-(

Well, actually I am thinking about doing the same. Seems to be the better way for DX11 3D Gaming. And in the future we won´t se other games than DX11. As you said, sad but true:( But I thing we should wait for the announcement by nVidia in january. May be it is the 3D Vision DX11 solution we all are hoping for.
