186.18 3D Vision Drivers
  2 / 8
Hi All

We are making some chnages to the installation and we do include some baseline 3D Vision files in the geforce driver, but the USB driver is still seperate.

I would ask everyone hold off updating to the new GeForce driver until our 3D Vision driver comes, which is really soon, I promise.

The included 3D Vision driver is probably designed to be used and tested with anaglyph glasses only, am I right? ;)

Anyway I don't have any problems using the older USB driver for the IR transmitter with the new 186.18, but will update when the new version becomes available.

Will the 3D Vision Explore red/blue glasses fit over prescription glasses? I cannot afford high prices for a 120hz monitor and 3D vision kit as it costs $600 for both. I have a standard 60hz wide-screen monitor.

There are many types of anaglyph glasses you can get, including clip-on ones that are good you you are using glasses, you can see some here: http://www.3dstereo.com/viewmaster/gla.html

You don't have to wait for the 3D Vision Discover glasses as there are many other types of anaglyph ones that will work just fine with the 3D Vision driver. I got better results using anachrome anaglyph glasses than the normal paper anagyph glasses...

The 3D Vision Discover glasses are NVIDIA custom designed anaglyph red/blue glasses, with optimized lens filters to maximize the stereoscopic 3D effect. These filters are calibrated to enable stereoscopic 3D on any desktop display while using the GeForce GPU’s programmable shaders for real-time color processing. This solution achieves the high quality anaglyph 3D available by retaining as much color fidelity as possible while eliminating ghosting, completely immersing you in the experience.

I posted this in another thread, but it seems more appropriate here:

Hey Andrew,
Is there eventually going to be a "Check for Driver Update" in the Nvidia Control panel for 3D drivers also?

Is it possible the 3D drivers are going to just start being included in the video drivers or will they always be seperate?

Also, just to repeat another thread...the GUI convergence would really be nice!

Thanks!!!

Andrew, from what I've read on the page you've provided a link to, nVidia's anaglyph glasses should be available only as a bundle with some nVidia-based VGAs starting this summer, but will there be another way to get them? I mean I already have quite a good video card, not to mention a 3D Vision kit (glasses and a Samsung 2233RZ display), but I want to try and compare the anaglyph glasses you are going to provide to some others I already own. So any chance of ghetting the anaglyph glasses without having to buy a new video card? ;)

Hello Andrew!

I made some steps with my PC and I'd like you to tell me if it is ok, because I can't solve my graphic card problem. Exactly,
Step no.1 >> Formated my PC, and after formatting I installed a freedriver windows.
Step no.2>> Downloaded the newest drivers from nVidia site (186.18) and I used the usuall setup.exe method to install that drivers.
Step no.3>> Checked the "Device Menager"/ Display Adapters/ Nvidia GeForce 8600 GT >> Working Properly, Ready to use (No yellow questionmarks nowhere)
Step no.4>> Installed the "Mirrors Edge" by Ea Games, Fifa 09 by EA Sports, PES 2009 by KONAMI, Need For Speed Undercover by EA Games
Step no.5>> Started to play (tried all the games I mentioned in step no.4)

The problem is>> When I start to play any game, I play well few minutes. After that minutes, the game is starting to lag, and after some lag, sometimes is back to good gaming and sometimes my graphic and sound is freezed. When it's freezed I can do nothing with my pc (exept restart from the button on the case). I'd like to know if it's some hardware problem to get care about and to take it to a some qulified person to resolve it. But If it's software problem, I'd appriciate your help. If I did something wrond with the steps I mentioned please tell me the real steps because I'm desperate with it.

Thanks Andrew!
Yours sincerely

Its hard for me to say what exactly is going wrong except perhaps just a driver problem at this point.

You like to say that these 186.18 drivers are generating problems to my graphic card and need to reinstall older drivers from my product CD. Would that resolve the prblem?

For. Ex if that'll help to you to to discover what's the problem I post to you this picture of that what I'm talking about (freezing) my screen while playing a game fifa 09.

I registered just to get the ability to post an issue regarding 3D Vision and the 186.18 drivers; after installing them (previously running 185.85 and 186.08 BETA on a GeForce GTX 280, Windows 7 build 7100 64-bit) all 3D Vision options disappear from the nVidia control panel. And while I understand that this is due to missing 3D Vision drivers, some games still try to make use of 3D Vision, and I don't have the ability to turn it off! I have never had a 3D Vision compatible display or the goggles, so I'm pretty sick of having to turn off the 3D Vision option every time I start the game in question. (World of Warcraft)

This is quite a major issue, as playing the game in 2D with 3D rendering is... well... unplayable. Hope to get some info on how to manually disable 3D Vision (preferably for good!), so that it wont turn itself on everytime I launch said game. (Yes, it turns itself on, no matter if the option is disabled both in game and in the nVidia control panel.)

Thanks a lot in advance!
