Why Generic CRT mode not available anymore with new beta drivers? 3D Vision + CRT mode has been ditc
  3 / 3
Is this legacy driver still available for download and more importantly does it still have CRT support? If it does then I may download it and buy the Samsung monitor as I much prefer a glossy screen to the ones available from Nvidia's partners. My 3d Dell laptop (glossy IPS 1080p screen) is still using 269.59 driver lol, I've not had it very long and keep reading over on notebook forum (Dell thread) that using any later drivers causes other issues but I'm willing to try as I guess I can always roll back.

The lastest drivers that still have Generic CRT mode are: WHQL 285.62 and beta driver 285.79, the newer ones no longer support CRT mode. Nvidia decision unfortunately.

Nvidia hear me, please why your partners that makes 3D Vision Ready displays keep making matte screens with heavy antiglare coating? Why not give us 3D Vision users more choices? Some people like glossy screens like me cause they definatelly have better colour saturation and deeper blacks, it's a matter of taste. Why 3D Vision users are doomed to use matte screens, why??????

I would love to have a 3D Vision Ready product with a nice 27" glossy screen, but since I have no options, I had to choose an unsupported product and do workarounds for making it work with 3D Vision. I still have my kit and will always use it. I'm always suporting the green fairy and I know you guys have the best support for 3D games in the planet. I just would to let you know, that you need better 3DV ready displays, cause your competitors like Samsung, definatelly are ahead in this field.

Hi.I bought this samsung 3DTV pn51D490 as It is listed as 3DTV Play compatible tv(http://www.nvidia.com/object/3dtv-play-system-requirements.html)but I had to use an edid(Generic CRT mode hack) to make It work. Will I have to be stuck with drivers 285.62 WHQL?

I guess so unfortunatelly. I think the beta driver 285.79 still supports CRT mode, but the newer ones don't. Sucks!!!!!

I don't think I could ever go back to a screen with a matte finish again because the anti glare coating makes the picture look "dirty" and the details less "crisp". A glossy finish gives colours so much more "pop" and the image looks so much more "crisp".

I don't understand why Nvidia doesn't care about glossy screens and all their partners that make 3D Vision ready displays go towards matte screens, I really don't get that point???? Give us choices, give more options. Hear us customers Nvidia, that's why I bought the Samsung S27A950D, because I ran out of options. I swear if Asus AG278H had a glossy screen, I would have bought it just because it's glossy finish, I woudn't care about the much superior design that Samsung offers, cause I'm on 3D Vision all the way, but for me there's no going to back to matte screens, ever and ever again...

They probably removed it because it was increasingly used to allow AMD HD3D compatible monitors to be used with nVidia cards. They want moar money from 3D Vision Ready certification from monitor manufacturers.
