Leaked 256 driver supports 3D Vision Surround

Johnny,

Are you noticing a performance increase in 3D vision from 2 GPU to 3 GPU? Or does the same problem exist where in 3D vision you are still getting the performance of 2 GPU even though you have 3 GPU.
I can also confirm that 3-way SLI (480's) works with surround, 1 gpu per monitor. HOWEVER gpu utilisation still hovers around the 50-60% mark even with a resolution of 5760x1080. NVIDIA have some serious work to do. This is also the case when running 3d surround. I have to say but 3d surround is a thing of beauty, but performance leaves alot to be desired. I have no doubt in mind that if 3-way SLI works with 3d surround and utilises 90+% of the gpu, you will get a constant 60fps with all eyecandy in 98% of todays games. I guess time will tell.

BTW before someone says I must have a cpu bottleneck- I have a i7 980x running at 4.5ghz.
John, when in 2d surround is the 60-% utlit changable by adding more AA_AF. I suspect you have turned N3d stereo off to nerf the vync issues in 2d mode. So is there is a new vync for surround also hidden like n3d that could cuase this? with Stereo support off did you get 60+ fps on all low in game in 3dx3.

Ati eyefinity seems to have the exact same issues with 3xCF with 5870 where in surround GPU's no matter what could only hit 60%. So if you could do some testing you might answer some of the issues.

1/ can you get more than 60 fps in 2d x3 with stereo off in NCP? is there a hidden vysnc for 2d surround?

2/ what the vram usage like and how does AA_AF effect FPS?

John what is VRAM and CPU-GPU util' like in 3dx3 in games? Is 480 3 working hard what's the difference between 2x 480 and 3x 480 in 2d or 3d x3.

Here is a little teaser pic for now. My GTX465 PhysX card shows as a GTX460, but whatever. I'm currently just using Red-Blue anaglyph for 3D Vision Surround. It works just fine for me atm. This is the 265.76 driver that has been floating around out in the wild with a couple of inf tweaks to get it to work with my hardware. /photo.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':photo:' />

Very nice setup there BH. Good to see you all 3 PJ's in use unlike 2 of my Monitors.

In the worst case say it never works right for 2 years we could sell 3d monitors x2 drop 1-2 fermi's and lose very little money as they have a great resale value.

The 3d DLP are more of an issue as 1080p models may replace them soon thus devalue them far faster and burn time on metal halide also devalues a DLP PJ faster than a 3d LCD right now.

But I invested in 3-way SLI to find it didn't work back in the day and dropped a 8800 and lost about $40.

Even though trisli is compatible with surround the scaling leaves alot to be desired.

The only game I saw just hit past 60fps was BC2 in regular surround. Everyother game was 40fps and below. And yes that is with all eye candy up. I did also try lowering the settings but same result. Gpu usage did not move over 60%. The bug with tri/quad sli and 3d vision is still very much alive. All dx9 titles were running at 20fps. And there was no performance increase with 3-way SLI in games that did not have the bug. Turning down image quality has no effect over fps.

I have just about every major title and the only games that worked were NFS shift, BC2 and JC2. Every other game crashed.

Guys I will be completely honest, if there isn't atleast a 100% improvement on these drivers by nvidia, 3d surround will be the biggest flop in the history of innovative technology.

And I have no doubt in my mind that 3-way SLI will be this technolgys saving grace- that's if they fix it. It is required for the best possible experience in 3d surround. But in saying that if nvidia can allow dual sli to utilise 95% gpu usage, then there is hope.
