It'd be nice if we could finally get a 3D version of Rage.

I'm one of those people who reads ALOT of comments stories but doesn't post to often. The hype for the Rift is at a ridiculous level. I would say it's on par with the launch of the Xbox One and PS4, and may even overshadow them. If you visit any gaming website such as IGN, Gamespot, Joystiq, Kotaku, etc there is almost at least 1 story a day about the Rift. They are looking for any news they can get on it. Here's whats crazy. The community support for the Rift is insane! Most people on the interweb usually enjoy posting hateful and negative comments about anything and everything, just because they can. But, with the Rift almost all the comments are extremely positive. Many of these comments are coming from CONSOLE only gamers, who generally shit all over anything 3D or PC related. To see this much love for a device is unheard of. I think the Rift is gonna revolutionize gaming forever and finally get 3D gaming some positive attention which is good for all of us. I don't think the Rift will be perfect but imagine the 2nd or 3rd gen version with OLED, no blur, and 8k resolution. I'm hyped for what the Rift can do for 3D gaming moreso then the RIft itself. Here's hoping that the consumer model can satisfy better then the developer version. I know that the developer Rift would be a no go for me as even the Sony HMZ was too low res for me and the Rift would be substantially worse. Speaking of Sony and the there HMZ. I would bet my left nut that they have been working on a VR headset for the PS4 since last year. I've owned the HMZ 1 and 2 but just couldn't get over the low res, and low FOV. BUT, I knew that this was the future. Even though the HMZ is not a VR device (no headtraking, low FOV), it shows how immerisve gaming can be with a HMD. Just wasn't good enough for me at the time. Oculus has like 20 million in funding for their project. Sony has BILLIONS to fund theirs. Sony and Even Microsoft aren't stupid. They see the hype for the Rift and SEE the positive response from the gaming community. I see Microsoft buying the Rift (possibly) and Sony developing their own VR device, but make no mistake. Next year will be the start of VR.

There's no point in anyone buying Oculus since they don't want to be sold and repeatedly stated that in this stage of VR, they need platforms that constantly evolve. PC is great right now because as panel complexity grows, PC horsepower can keep up with it. They've stated mobile is second on the list, because that's also open and keeps growing. They've stated in five years mobile chips will probably be their focus (which makes sense. In five years, you'll have mobile chip more powerful than XBO/PS4 that they'll be able to build right into the headset). MS and Sony very well may release their own VR solution in the future, but it would make no sense to go outside. It would have to be something that was deliberately designed around the strengths/weaknesses of those closed platforms. On the subject of Carmack, if you watch his Quakecon 2013 keynote on Youtube, one of the 30 minute segments talks specifically about VR again. And on numerous occasions he talks about Valve's VR solutions and motion controllers. Valve and Michael Abrash have inhouse hardware that is far beyond anything Oculus has publicly displayed (though so does Oculus for that matter). It's just interesting to see just how much experimentation is going on behind the scenes. It's great that Carmack is joining his buddy Abrash (although at different companies) in working full time on solving all the issues.

What? You can still post! Is it a medication or alcohol problem that haunts you? You should be IP banned for all of the nasty things you've said to forum members
It'd be nice if we could finally get a 3D version of Rage.
Yea, it would be nice to try that game in 3D, but when I got it when it was released I was so disappointed in it that I only played for an hour or two and it has since been gathering dust in my Steam library.
