Acer HS244HQ
Just recently got the new Acer HS244HQ 3D monitor and have been trying to get it running with my PC. I am running a Geforce GTX 460 and have tried connecting the monitor using both a DVI to HDMI converter as well as a mini-HDMI to HDMI converter. In both cases I can get the monitor to display everything as normal at full 1080p resolution. I then installed te 14 day trial of 3DTV Play to give some of my games a try.

This is where the problems started. After stating on the pop-up that I only wanted to go with the trial version, I got an error that my laptop screen was not qualified for 3DVision. I have also noticed that I am missing the option for Stereoscopic Display in the NVidia control panel.

Has anyone had any success getting this monitor to work with any NVidia card? At the minute, my only use for this monitor is the tiny handfull of 3D games on my Playstation.

Thanks in advance.

Disable the laptop display and output only to the Acer HS244HQ 3D monitor.

Apologies for not putting enough details in my original post.

I am not running on a laptop. This is a single monitor connected to the GeForce GTX 460 card within my desktop PC.

So far I have tried connecting the monitor using both a DVI to HDMI as well as Mini-HDMI to HDMI converters with no success.

Make sure you are using 720p 50/60 Hz refresh rate or 1080p 24Hz refresh rate for 3D mode.

I don't think this monitor is compatible for gaming in stereo 3D mode, but you should at least be able to play 3D videos on it.

Is there any reason this monitor will not allow 3D gaming in stereo?

I have a friend who has the same monitor but runs an AMD card who has managed to get full 1080p / 60Hz stereo gaming with the use of the 3rd party TriDef drivers. Is there any reason I would not be able to do the same if 3DVision is not going to support my monitor?

AMD support quad buffered stereo in there drivers which Tridef uses to synchronize through frame rate drops. With an NVidia card the Tridef drivers will likely lose sync whenever the frame rate in game fluctuates.

After a few days of trying various new cables etc. I am still having no luck with 3DVision.

Bloody mentioned that I may not be able to handle 3d games, but 3d videos may work. My question now is how I can do this if the NVidia control panel or 3DVision itself does not even recognise the 3d capabilities of my monitor. As far as I can see, my card simply sees this as a standard 60Hz monitor regardless of what steps I take.

Any help or advice on this would be much appreciated.

The Acer HS244HQ is not compatible with Nvidia 3D Vision since it lacks dual link DVI port. It isn't a true 120 hz input monitor like others because of this.

It should be able to work with 3DTV Play in theory, but it isn't Nvidia certified yet. 3D TV play certified list - http://www.nvidia.com/object/3dtv-play-requirements.html#3dtvs

You may be able to do some HDMI EDID hacks to make it work, but that too is not guaranteed.

3D video watching should be possible with stereoscopic player. There most likely is an option for generic HDMI 1.4 3D TV's in the display output list.

And what about using this "monitor" with Ubuntu ?

Something strange, I could use the demo version of cyberlink power dvd 10: the IR lighted, and I could watch a 3D Bd... without 3D: flat pictures
3D glasses could synchronize !
Then (with Windows Seven), I upgraded Power Dvd 8 to power dvd 10 full; it now tells me the hardware is not compatible.

And we can see the 3D logo from the nvidia control panel: this means it can display 3D pictures on this monitor !!!

And I cannot find any link to buy 2 pairs of 3D glasses, E1BIR, this is to watch 3D BD with my family using a ps3 !
(I can only find E1B DLP 3D on the internet)
There is nothing on Acer store website !!!
I live in France.
