Manual Installation:
- use if something went wrong, this is proven as working fine:
Step 1:
- download the latest NV-GeForce driver (https://www.geforce.com/drivers)
- use WINRAR or 7-ZIP to extract
- download the latest NV-GeForce driver having 3D-Vision
(https://developer.nvidia.com/vulkan-driver)
- use WINRAR or 7-ZIP to extract
- You have 2 Folders now: (example): 425.58_geforce_win10_64bit_international and 430.64-desktop-win10-64bit-international-whql
- go to the 3D-Vision containing driver folder (e.g. \425.58_geforce_win10_64bit_international) and copy the folders "NV3DVision" and "NV3DVisionUSB.Driver" to the new driver folder (e.g. \430.64-desktop-win10-64bit-international-whql)
Step 2:
- get DDU (https://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html)
- start your OS in safe mode
- use DDU <---- THIS IS A MUST HAVE or let’s say HIGHLY RECOMMENTED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- uninstall current graphic driver
- restart
Step 3:
- install the latest 3D-Vision supported driver using setup.exe in the extracted folder (e.g. ...\425.58_geforce_win10_64bit_international\setup.exe)
- Use advanced setup (not express!)
- check the box "new install" (or fresh install or whatever it’s called in English, the box below the list of installed modules with the yellow triangle)
- install it
- restart your PC
==> NOW you are able to install the latest driver and having 3D-Vision controller driver in the list if you go on @ Step 4! Without installing a 3D-Supported driver you will NOT have the USB driver in the list of the installation for the latest driver!!
Step 4:
- install the latest driver using setup.exe in the extracted folder (e.g. ...\430.64-desktop-win10-64bit-international-whql\setup.exe) ==> make sure you prev. copied the "NV3DVision" and "NV3DVisionUSB.Driver" folders from latest 3D-Vision driver here
- Use advanced setup (not express!)
==> The 3D-Vision-controller-driver should be in the list now!
- check the box "new install" (or fresh install or whatever it’s called in English, the box below the list of installed modules with the yellow triangle)
- install it
- restart your PC!
Step 5:
- get this little tool: https://www.carifred.com/fvie/
- navigate to the latest driver extracted folder to 3DVision (e.g. ...\430.64-desktop-win10-64bit-international-whql\NV3DVision)
- Here you can see the "3DVision.exe"
- use WINRAR or 7-ZIP to extract
- navigate to the extracted folder (e.g. ...\430.64-desktop-win10-64bit-international-whql\NV3DVision\3DVision)
Step 6:
- open the program you have just downloaded: "FVIE.exe"
- The first line is "File to edit:" here you click "Search" and navigate to the just extracted 3DVision folder (e.g. ...\430.64-desktop-win10-64bit-international-whql\NV3DVision\3DVision)
- select the file "NvSCPAPI.dll"
- click on the button "Update" next to the search button in the program
- You should now see the File version and the Product Version that lines matters; it should be the version from the latest 3D-Vision driver (e.g. 7.17.14.2558)
- change BOTH of these numbers to the number from the latest driver (e.g. 7.17.14.3064)
- click "OK, change version resource"
- check the success message with OK and now click "Search" again in the program
- select the file "NvSCPAPI64.dll"
- click on the button "Update" next to the search button in the program
- You should now see the File version and the Product Version that lines matters, it should be the version from the latest 3D-Vision driver (e.g. 7.17.14.2558)
- change BOTH of these numbers to the number from the latest driver (e.g. 7.17.14.3064)
- click "OK, change version resource"
Step 7:
- In the latest driver folder where you the 3D-Vision folder extracted (e.g. ...\430.64-desktop-win10-64bit-international-whql\NV3DVision) delete the backup files for the "NvSCPAPI64.dll" and "NvSCPAPI.dll"
- NOW start setup.exe from here
- install the 3D-Vision driver that in the end should pop up the 3D-Vision setup for you
==> IF you will get an error creating D3D device (or something like that) just run the setup.exe again, it’s possible that you need to do this 2-3 times
- restart your PC!
- You are NOW at the latest Game Ready Driver and can use 3D-Vision!!!

The very powerful and the very stupid have one thing in common. Instead of altering their views to fit the facts, they alter the facts to fit their views ... which can be very uncomfortable if you happen to be one of the facts that needs altering.

Have you tried VR ?
My two Samsung 3DTV's were $3000 each my Samsung Odyssey plus was $299 (Windows Mixed Reality)
Even 2D gaming has hardware costs any one serious into PC gaming will have a high end computer to play the games on either format.

I was here last decade, it was here in the Nvidia forum that Neil had the idea to start the MTBS forum. I just built a new PC, at first it's main use was for VR with my wireless Vive set-up or my Rift CV-1. Once I heard 3D vision was going to be killed off, I decided to go with a 1080ti so I can enjoy the last days of Nvidia 3D support. I still keep an old P4 running to use the old Nvidia consumer driver. On my new machine, I'm happy to stick with the last driver until such time as Oculus or Vive won't run on it. In that case, I'll make a duel boot and restore from back-up. Thanks for your findings on this Losti. I'm saving your method in a text file, I'm good with the current now but might save me in the future if nothing drastically changes with future drivers.

I don't think nvidia have grasped the threat from google stadia yet. If they had they would try to keep as many 'niche' markets like 3d going.
This is what happened to music. Streaming killed cd's but vinyl made a comeback. Hi end hifi still exists, but lower quality playback on tablets and phones killed other music playback devices.
As Moore's law approaches nvidia need to keep as many niche products going as they can. Google stadia and consoles will eat into their gaming market. Commercial customers will make custom chips (Telsa!)
3d may make a comeback with 3d screens that don't need glasses, so its mad to ditch their technological lead.

==> i think the same way but i have really no idea how it should work but 29 years ago no one have ever thourght that Monkey Island will ever be playable @ a "computer smaller than 2 packs of cigs" (smartphone) ^^
BTW there are "no glasses needed" 3D-Screens but like the ruler in the 1st class in the 19th (for me), its only working for verry sharp defined angels of view and i have never seen a price, this is really not commercial.

Unfortunately installing the merged driver is not working for me. 3D doesn't kick in when I try to setup 3DVision (no bright green light on the transmitter). It says: "1080ti is not compatible to 3DVision".

The same for greatxerox withthe titan X. I am using 1070 and no pyramide for 3D, my emitter is build in the screen. Some of the folders seems to be responsible for that. But i cannot evaluate which, because for me there is no such problem.
Some hints from the files points to the folder "NvCamera" that may need to be used from the 425.31 driver.
BTW i have skipped Geforce Experiance but never tryed to install it.
This is the list of folders that needs to be step by step copied ofver from the 425.31 to the driver merge. And after copie a folder you need a new installationd and see @ which folder from the 425.31 the 3D vision installation will work again.

Thank you Losti!
A thought regarding what this method means:
1. It seems that (so far), the 3DV driver is in fact 'standalone' (contrary to what nVidia would have us believe) and, therefore can indeed, be installed on top of every driver.
OR
2. NVidia have not (as YET) taken out the 'hooks' in the main driver, but may yet do so in later driver branches.
I am interested in testing whether this might also work on any new generation of graphics cards...

Microsoft is pushing their HoloLens AR at business users. Lots of money there. One way or another, 3D is going to show up!
Anyway, back to your regularly scheduled topic...
The very powerful and the very stupid have one thing in common. Instead of altering their views to fit the facts, they alter the facts to fit their views ... which can be very uncomfortable if you happen to be one of the facts that needs altering.

Thanks to people like you there is still hope for this awesome tech.
Really aprreciated it all!
