Hand of Fate - Tweaks?
After playing Hearthstone and being fairly impressed how good it looks with 3D, I thought I would give Hand of Fate a try, as it seems like the type of game that would be perfect for 3D -- especially with how cool the Dealer is for the game. I got it working by: - Adding the Hand of Fate.exe to the Aion profile with nvidia inspector (like you do to get Hearthstone working). - Using the mod files from Helix Mod's Ori and the Blind Forest 3D Vision Fix (I tried the Heartstone files first, didn't seem to want to work though). Seems to work quite good on the lowest depth setting, but adding more depth seems to cause significant card ghosting, and certain props render at a different distance -- even after adjusting the convergence settings. I was wondering if anyone has had some success with tweaking this game? Maybe there is a different profile I could use, or another set of Helix Mod files that might do the trick better. I believe the game runs in Unity (Direct X 9c). I'm not an experienced modder at all, so would appreciate if anyone could post some suggestions or point me in the right direction. Btw, I'm running Windows 10 Build 10130 with driver version 352.84 Thanks!

Plenty of people still use 3D. Why are you posting in the 3D Vision forum if you don't care? Your rant wasn't really relevant to the thread...

It is a pretty decent game, fighting is reminiscent of Batman Arkham games (but a bit more challenging if you ask me), and a bit of a roguelike experience. Using DarkStarSword's unity template I had created a full fix for the game (that I never released), and then they updated to Unity 5.3 shortly after which broke the fix, and I never got back around to refixing it, but it should now be possible using DSS's updated tool.

Since people seem interested (and while the game is on sale), I decided to put together a quick and dirty fix for the game! Mostly everything is fixed, I did 2 full runs and didn't come across anything broken, but there might be some effects later on in the game that I haven't come across. The biggest issue is the UI being at a very low depth (right in up at the front of the screen), and unfortunately there are certain elements that do not seem like they can be adjusted. :/ This means that increasing convergence will break UI elements, causing them to separate and obstruct the screen. To try to remedy this as best as possible, I've created a convergence toggle, that goes between 3 values: 1, 3, and 5, to make it easy to switch back and forth between different values on different screens. You'll want to use the value 1 for whenever you're at the table with the dealer, settings 3 or 5 are for during combat, depending on your preference (and tolerance of the UI being broken). Press either the CapsLock key on a keyboard, or click the Right Thumbstick in on an Xbox 360 controller for this. I've also set another key toggle on the ] key to push whatever HUD elements that I could push to depth. As far as I'm aware, it's only useful for when looking at your inventory screen. Here's the download link for now, I'll post it up to the blog tomorrow: https://s3.amazonaws.com/djrking/HandofFate+Unity5_3+fix.zip

lol, I just spent my money on some other games, I'll put it on the X-Mas wishlist, thanks for the fix Perhaps you could use the dynamic crosshair approach and bound the UI in a rectangle, then treat it however you like. Make it 2D or apply some kind of minimal separation multiplier. Like 4everAwake did for Skull Girls here, he put the texture in a box so that he could manipulate only it. https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/809236/3d-vision/obscure-indie-games/post/4639228/#4639228 helifax used this approach on a map in a game, but I can't find the post.

You're welcome! :) And yes it is, I'm always surprised at such when I do pick it up and play on the odd occasion, it has that sort of refreshing charm that makes it fun & interesting to play every once in a while between other games.
