3D Vision Benchmark Thread Benchmark Thread using Batman AA and Heaven 2.1
Hey everyone, There seems to be alot of people interested in exactly what frames they should be expecting with 3D Vision, because with 2D it's easy to relate if your system is getting proper FPS with the hardware you have since there is a million reviews of the GPU your using.
This thread is dedicated at the moment to using two concise benchmarks and that is the Batman AA in game benchmark (which some users may not have), and the Heaven 2.1 benchmark just released which can be downloaded here:
http://downloads.guru3d.com/Unigine-Heaven...nload-2549.html.
So the point of this thread of course is to share our benchmarks. Please be precise with your details. Specify your hardware and what drivers you are using. Lastly if you have an overclock specify that too.
I will be asking users who have 1080p displays and 3D Vision and GTX 400 series to post there benches, if you dont have 1080p, feel free to post them also but you obv can't use tessellation..
Please do not cheat on the benchmark, this is not a competition its merely so we can compare with others. Please make sure on your Nvidia CP that AF and AA are turned to Application-Controlled and NOT OFF and that you are using the High Quality for texture filtering! I had 3D Depth @ 70-80% for both games. One problem with Batman AA is that the Frame cap for 3D Vision is 60 FPS @ 120hz (55 FPS if your running 110hz). This presents a small issue for games like Batman but we'll see the frames anyways.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The settings to use for Heaven 2.1 are as following:
16XAF, 4 X AA, 1920X1080p, Tessellation : extreme and everything else default, Stereo 3D set to 3D vision of course, Full screen: on, Vsync off.
The settings for Batman AA are: 1920X1080p, Everything on Yes except Motion Blur, AA set to 16X, 3D Vision on, PhysX set to High. Vsync off.

So what do my findings mean? I believe, judging from how Metro2033 plays, DX11 Titles hit 3D Vision hard. I have tested turning DX 11 off on Metro 2033, and I get a pretty good spike of frames. I would assume the same for heaven 2.1 but that renders the benchmark moot.

i did a quick run on batman AA. all settings max- no motion blur- 16XQ AA- 1080p- vsync off. My cpu is only running 3.8 today, 480sli running stock clocks. 295 for physX. Interesting results- i have no 60fps cap like others experience.

Any Idea how you got over the frame cap? I thought with 3D vision no matter what all games would have a 60 FPS frame cap @ 120hz. Because I'm sure the "Vsync" is hindering my frames which is why the min is only 50. I'll have to check the engine.ini on batman and make sure I had smoothframes off. I'll recheck today, but I think 3D Vision has a frame cap for me.

i did nothing special-this is just how my setup has always run. none of my games are frame capped in 3d with vsync off. I have a Mitsubishi DLP hdtv.

I think he's getting Frames per second total and not fps per eye.
are you using Fraps? what version?
I've had strange experiences with Fraps that forced me to reinstall.
If he was getting and average of 70+ FPS per eye that means he has a tv capable of producing at least 140hz in this case. either that or only 60framers per secodn per eye is being shown and the other 12fps per eye is being dropped somewhere.

It would seem so, I tried finding any research on it and it says everywhere that with a 120hz monitor you will get a frame rate cap of 62 FPS. Which is the vsync norm. I also tried batman AA with bsmooothrate = false and it did nothing, but if I turn 3D vision off I get 121 FPS avg @ max settings so it must be that.

yea our tvs use 60hz only, and if you notice the lenses refresh slower.. like if it was refreshing at 30hz per eye.. thats the checkerboard 3d.
am sayin that becasuse i have the mitsu and the acer and when playin at 120hz if i see my phone i can see it regreshing faster then when i use my tv and see my phone i see it refreshing slower
and since mitsus only get 60hz in game settings.. cuz of hdmi i guess..

http://downloads.guru3d.com/Unigine-Heaven...nload-2549.html.
Vsync off.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So I'll start and I'm reserving space to add a chart to later.
My system specs are listed here: http://www.overclock.net/system.php?i=27224 . I have 2 GTX 480's @ 860/1720/4120 and a GTX 280 for PhysX. I am running a i7 965 EE @ 4.0 ghz. I am using Nvidia'as 257.15 drivers

Weird!! Maybe someone else can chime in.

are you using Fraps? what version?
