Does the Steam version of Dark Void have the enhanced PhysX effects included?
I know the retail version requires the PhysX Patch in order to receive the additional effects. But so far I have not found anyone that can actually install this patch.
Does anyone know if Nvidia is going to release a new patch to fix this one? Or is there another work around?
Yes, I have been playing with PhysX at maximum with no problems. The smoke trails from the jetpack and from the gun are really nice and subtle effects. I have now played the game for about 3 hours and have had no problems of any kind. The game has been very stable for me so far. I mention that because I have read other posts about the game crashing on other websites. It is really amazing how much better the 3D makes this game. When I toggle 3D off the game just looks completely lifeless.

fella1 - Can you confirm you have the boxed version of the game (not steam) and you have enabled high physx without installing the patch from Nvidia? Can you please give me a quick run through of how you did it? When I try to install the patch it cannot find the game and thats where i get stuck!
Your help would be greatly appreciated, or anyone else that knows for that matter?!!

Good news! High setting for PhysX is suppose to require a dedicated GTX260 216. Can you tell us what are your setting? System specs? Framerate with 3D enable?

I am using the Steam version of the game. I have GTX 285 SLI in my rig with no dedicated card for PhysX. I have a core duo E8600 processor. I do not know my exact framerate but it is smooth as butter with no hiccups. Using Win 7 64 bit. I have not downloaded the latest drivers that were released recently and I did not have to install any kind of patch in order to enable the high PhysX setting. I am at work and do not remember the actual driver release number that I am using but I think that it was the lastest certified driver release prior to the one that just came out this week.
Uninstall the "Nvidia GAME" utility (you'll see it in your Add/Remove programs list). Then reinstall physx (I just used the physx installer in my C:\NVIDIA\Drivers directory).
I had the same problem you did and the above fixed it.
can confirm it. i tried many things (d/l physx from nvidia page and reinstalled it..) and the patch didn't work, could only select off or low (have been playing with off as low produced sometimes about 5 fps).
i uninstalled the nvidia gaming app, uninstalled physx and reinstalled it from the c:/nvidia/drivers folder.
now i can selecet medium and high settings for physx.
i have two gtx 260-216 SLI, so it's not the requirements, but the routine described by killtacular, that makes it work.
i'll check out if it works out without those 5 fps when physx comes into play..
maybe you'll have to make the game run in single GPU mode and turn SLI off if you want to use the second SLI card for physx effects, maybe that's why i get only 5 fps when physx come in..
i'll try and see ;)
edit: works wonderfully, no framerate drop below 60 fps with physx on high and effects working ! :)
physx is not good for my head ;) i'm still spinning around and getting effects while writing this here ;)

I´ve got the latest drivers, the game is recognised by 3DVision, rated good.
But it is almost unplayable to me because of the lasersight (the one of the game and also the one of 3DVision) are at the wrong depth. So I can't aim - not very good for a shooter.
Has anybody else this problem? Is there a solution?
Besides from that there is still a lot of ghosting and halo effects.
Very dissappointed, expected much better S3D after reading Your reports :(
Now I've reached the level I could play in the demo: can't see any improvements in the final game. Still a strange halo when there is water in the background, the water surface even dissapears in the distance.
Strange...
I could solve the lasersight problem by renaming the exe of the game to MassEffect.exe and using the 3dVision lasersight. The original lasersitght is still at wrong depth.

I am not sure what is wrong in your setup but you definitely should not be experiencing any of the things you describe in the final game. The demo had the problems that you mention but the final version does not have any of that. Are you playing the Steam version of the game or did you buy the boxed retail version? The laser sight had definite problems in the demo but it is 100% fixed in the final version. I have the Steam version and everything looks very good. I am using driver 195.62.

Thank You for Your answer.
Now I've found the solution: I've got the boxed retail version. As I didn't want to use the physx effects I didn't install the physx patch. But this patch is obviously necessary to solve the 3DVision issues, too. After instaling the physx patch everything works fine now - looks much better than before :)

After reading this forum I pick the game up on steam. You guys were right. This is one of the best if not the best game I've played with 3D vision yet. The reviewers missed the ball on this one. Fantstic. If you have a system that can do high physx and 3D then you must get this game.

fella1 - Can you confirm you have the boxed version of the game (not steam) and you have enabled high physx without installing the patch from Nvidia? Can you please give me a quick run through of how you did it? When I try to install the patch it cannot find the game and thats where i get stuck!
Your help would be greatly appreciated, or anyone else that knows for that matter?!!
