The example with Bioshock Infinite and Chiri was a f**king KICK IN THE BALLS for him and his partner. He spend a lot of time (and maybe money) in 3DMigoto and when he was about 90% of GOAL...BAM!! The fix was released for free....i think: "Holy Shit!! Chiri will never put a finger in this forum or the community in his life, probably he stop gaming for ever". End results: Chiri is gone and helix is gone. And later Chiri in a tremendous act of generosity give 3Dmigoto for free and Open Sourced....the only one i probably need to ask or talk about this is Chiri.
I didn't know about all that! It was from before I started posting here (ha. It was a post about FFXIII in "Posted 11/02/2014 05:19 PM"). I have just read the Indigomod indiegogo campaign thread. It looks like people still kept donating and wanted the project to be alive. But I haven't read about the transition to 3Dmigoto going open source yet.
There was one time where I confused DHR and DJ-RK too (just once!). In my mind I thought "it was a shader fixer that started with a 'D'".

As someone who migrated from AMD hardware and TriDef, I was also not aware of this complex history (but aware of their names). 3D enthusiasts like me have not always expressed our gratitude when downloading and using the 3D Vision mods, but we truly appreciate the incredible effort involved in supporting our favorite (only) way of gaming - 3D immersion. We gladly contribute money to acknowledge this effort, but we recognize that is much too small to truly pay for the highly talented labor engaged, or the computer resources used...
I wish NVIDIA would do more than maintain 3D driver support. For example, NVIDIA could show its long-term support to 3D Vision by updating 3DTV Play to include support for all HDMI 2.0b operational modes, and add HMD interface mode (for example, SBS output to Rift or Vive, static large virtual 3D screen). These actions would expand the potential 3D Vision user base, especially as 3D displays become difficult to find...
This product update could help reassure 3D Vision shaderhackers and tool developers that NVIDIA is as committed to maintaining and expanding the incredibly valuable helixmod game list that this community is. Note that TriDef has already decided to make its game library available through a new VR interface app.

This thread makes me sad... actually I just realized that so many shaderhackers are gone and might never return. Maybe 3D Vision really is dying...
okay... I will test now Prey and post some pictures in 3D. I still like 3D vision and will not stop opening stupid topics about interesting games. ;)
I made somewhat of a summary of events that transpired leading to dx11 fixes, including links to relevant threads here

A lot of comments to reply to, but I don't have the time to reply individually right now (will try to later). But for the time being, I want to say that the purpose behind my post wasn't a "me too!" ordeal. I wasn't seeking to receive any additional donations or accolades. I'm just an empathetic person so I always try to understand and relate to where someone is coming from, so when I said I could relate to DHR feeling underappreciated, I was giving examples where I easily could have felt that way, but I really don't... quite the contrary, as a whole I feel adequately appreciated, respected, and even compensated for my work and effort (mainly because I never expected to receive $$$, so anything donated was always just a nice bonus, rather than the incentive).
I also want to clear up that I haven't left/abandoned working on fixes out of any sort of disdain or disgruntledness... I'm simply busy now with my new job (versus before I was not working at all), which is also physically demanding so when I do have time off I'm usually too tired to play games, let alone work on fixes. That's not to say that will always be the case, but it is the current situation I'm in. If I feel compelled to, I may still work on the occasional fix or two as time permits, but definitely won't be pumping out a new fix per week, or fixes on new games within 24-48 hour windows like I've been able to in the past.
Again, I'll try to provide some more specific responses sometime later this weekend when I can.

My first knee jerk reaction to this was pretty much the concerns DJ-RK has said, and it gave me a very uneasy feeling. But then I saw the positivity from the others so i did not air them. As far as I am concenred DJ-RK numbers among the most important people of this community and I am so very very grateful for the time he has put in.
Ultimately it seems alot of people have left, my favorite most anticipated game is out next week, and I am possibly facing the prospect of not playing it in 3dvision. I have donated to many in the past and want to give more but I am financially in a position that I am doing all I can in this regard, and I have always prefer to just donate games anyway. (mostly ones that have already been fixed) partly for this very concerns.
Ultimately I see both sides of this debate and I admit to being torn, obviously something needs to be done, and I continue to try to improve my own skills at shader hacking, but I also work a 40 hours week. It is definitely true that if more key members of this community leave it will finally be the death of 3d vision.
This technology remains the single most impressive upgrade you can give your gaming experience visually and it's incredibly frustrating, Nvidia, Developers and the gaming community at large continue to mostly ignore it.

Well I think that everyone that downloads a fix, needs to log-in to do so.They should be properly registered with an e-mail. That way at least there is some way to reach out and target all of the others that use fixes. As well as to see who is downloading what.
Maybe it would be better to have our own site with downloads and forums in one place? That way we could do splash screens or hijacked landing pages to direct people to donations/solicitations? I've no idea :(
There's roughly about 40 active posters here and to solely target them for the 350 people that downloaded HitMan isn't quite right. Somehow the lurkers and non participants need to pony up as well. This isn't so much of an issue now, but going forward, something needs to be done to reach into the pockets of the 300+ users that never even frequent these forums.
Also something needs to be done about hosting and sharing fixes on other sites. As well as YouTubers that use fixes on their uploads and are making money, perhaps add a watermark up in the corner that can't be disabled, but at least give us visibility?
I've no idea who gives what to who, but if we are going to pass a hat around, we need to be sure it that it gets to the people sitting in the back row as well as the ones standing outside.
It also doesn't help that some developers are shitty hacks that can't properly code and do weird things to get the desired result for an effect. Plus things like Headers being stripped to make the release version of their game a little bit smaller for download, does not help us at all. Making it even more work to produce a fix.
I'm all for people that are investing time out of their finite lives, to receive compensation for doing so, if so desired. And we all know that the fixes are not getting any easier and for some Engines require a vast knowledge and skillset.
But again, as always, a huge thanks to everyone, past and present, that has made every game fix thus far a reality.
Also again DHR, thanks for the recent Disney Infinity 3.0 fix, I look forward to trying it in the near future :)

I think this is still an open discussion...At least for me the first concern is we don't have NEW users fixing games, we need this community grow... Fixing game take a lot of time, so if there is no retribution for the effort, no ones jump in...that's why i think the donation mechanic is a very good motivation + we need to improve more our shaderhackers school. bo3b do an already good job with that....maybe we need to traslate to 3Dmigoto...helix dll is kind of obsolet right now.
About the real number using our fixes...there are more than 40....for example Hitman now have 442 downloads. That's why i starting tracking my fixes/download (since nov 2016)...i need it to know the number to think in a working mechanic. Also i test the mechanic with 2 games that are not popular (NBA Playground and Voodoo Vince) and the GOAL was reached also, with users outside the forum.....this is a good sign and the blog have great visibility.
Also i make a "Fashion Emergency" on my website: http://3dfixes.ueuo.com/
(The link is in my sign now)
The page have a lot of good info (like the donwloads) and also the stuff i'm looking.
The web is full responsive, so you can take a look over you phone or tablet also :) (i just grab a template and modify a little, don't take me much time). I always wanted to make a responsive web.

About Disney Infinite 3.0. I still need to update the Last Star Wars chapter with some 2D objects and Halos.....but overall the game looks great.

The tracker count both...download is a single IP/DNS download, and Hits is the double or triple time a user download a file. In Hitman is 442 downloads, but 535 hits. Also you can see the daily traffic and country.
The behavior of the single IP download may vary depending on how the different ISP assign/manage IP. And i expect one user download most of the time 1 time, unless there is a update of the fix (that will be the normal behavior).

hello DHR !
i completely understand your frustration about the time you pass to create fixes without to get a just award.
If i remember, i donated a little but i clearly know it's not enough.
i got a lot of fun gaming thanks to your fixes (mad max for example^^)
First, you must to know than we appreciate your work.
i'd like to know how much time do you need to fix a "normal" game, i mean a game not so difficult to fix than Rise of Tomb raider, but a game like "The crew" for example.
10 hours ? 15 hours ? more ? i really don't know the time it needs.
i'd like to know also if you know a shaderhacker which speaks french.
for me, i'd like to try to create some fixes but English can sometimes be a problem because to create a fix is very technical, and to "speak" clearly with a non-french shaderhacker can be hard if we encounter some difficulties with a game. thanks :)

@greatxerox
The time depend of the game/engine....This is a list, where the TOP is the most time consumming one:
1. New engine without Headers
2. New engine with Headers
3. Know Engine with new stuff or a variation of the know fix pattern
4. Know Engine
5. 3Dvision/Excellent rating game with a few issues (like halos, skybox positions, HUD)
For example, "The Crew" is in the N° 1 category, plus the game is an open world....so you actually need to unlock all maps to see if there is more issues.
Now i have a little more time, so i'm looking "Outlast 2"...N° 2 category (at least i have the headers...Yeah!!), plus i have some decompiler issues and i can't make the fix work in ASM (Already fix Shadows, Lights and some reflections in HLSL), so i need the HLSL. Already have 20 hours on the game and i'm in the first scene (past the helicopter intro). When you spend already 20 hours in the first scene, BELIEVE ME...i need to take breaks with others games. Outlast 2 average 7h of gameplay (main story)https://howlongtobeat.com/game.php?id=32537
Mafia 3, N° 1 category....already spend 20 hours on it (again i'm in the very first scene)...and still need to solve 1 pattern.
So, YES...fix a game take A LOT OF TIME.

The behavior of the single IP download may vary depending on how the different ISP assign/manage IP. And i expect one user download most of the time 1 time, unless there is a update of the fix (that will be the normal behavior).

i completely understand your frustration about the time you pass to create fixes without to get a just award.
10 hours ? 15 hours ? more ? i really don't know the time it needs.
i'd like to know also if you know a shaderhacker which speaks french.
for me, i'd like to try to create some fixes but English can sometimes be a problem because to create a fix is very technical, and to "speak" clearly with a non-french shaderhacker can be hard if we encounter some difficulties with a game. thanks :)
