What 3D options for viewsonic pjd6211?
Hey guys, I'm glad i found this forum.
I have a question regarding my options available for my viewsonic pjd6211, or also the pjd5122 or pjd6221 being that they all are same model.projector and eventually 3D blue ray movie watching and 3D game playing.

It seems that as of what I've learned, so far, the only possible way for me to watch 3D blue ray movies for this type of projector, since this projector has no HDMI input only a Component HD input, is with the use of the Nvidia 3D vision. I've read that the only 3D software, PowerDVD and TMT5, as of yet don't support 120dlp projection 3D type technology only the Nvidia drivers 3D vision for this 3D projector. I have a Home theater computer setup by the way. Right now All i have is a normal DVD player in my computer but for christmas or so i hope to get a internal Blue Ray player so as to watch 3D blue ray movies and so on.
I did read that tridef has added 120dlp projectors to their list but don't know if they will eventually do Blue ray. I heard 3D vision gives you the best quality for 3D blue ray anyway as of now(could be wrong).
With all that said... My question is, is there a Universal DLP link 3D shutter glasses that will work with the DLP link on my projector and the Nvidia 3D visi0n??
I would like to buy just a pair of 3D dlp link shutter glasses for now to use with Youtube 3D viewing or a little 3D game playing with IZ3D or Trideff through the DLP Link setting on my projector but be able to use them with the 3D vision emitter later on. Will the Nvidia 3D vision glasses work as stand alone DLP glasses??.
The viewsonic PJD6211 has 2 setting for 3D on it, DLP link or the Nvidia 3D vision.
I'm not sure if this is even possible though because I know Nvidia 3D vision doesn't use DLP but an emitter.
Another things that is very important is the quality of the image for brightness. When you set the viewsonic projector to 3D mode i would say the brightness projector image is zapped by 30% - 40% or more and i need glasses that have a clear image and no tint to them until the shutters are turned on.
So with all this being said, what are my options with this certain projector??? Anyone out there have this type of projector?? If so what is your experience with it??

no one out there with 3D vision and a viewsonic pjd621, pjd6221 or pjd5122??? I know there must be some who can at least give there experience with using this projector and the 3D vision setup...

i have a pjd 6221 and i use 3d vision. i bought a set of dlp link shutter glasses so that we can watch 3d family movies because they are much more convenient with my setup (difficult for me to position the emitter in front of us as required by 3d vision glasses).

@120hz the projector automatically sync the 3d dlp link signal to the video signal so it works but to be able to enable 3d vision in the nvidia control panel you still need the emitter to be connected to the computer even though your glasses do not use it. sometimes the eyes are swapped when starting a game or movie but you can fix it by inverting them (either through projector menu -painful-, through software option when available -like in 3d vision player- or by pressing a button on some dlp glasses models (like viewsonic pgd-150)).

don't forget you'll need to buy a dedicated software player to play 3d blurays as 3d vision player cannot.

as it's been a painful process for me to find proper dlp link glasses, here's my 2 cents review:

pgd-150 : very good quality, ability to switch l/r eye quickly BUT ARMS GET BROKEN TOO EASILY and there's no way to replace them.

pgd-250 : good build but quality is poor due to the image staying overbright (poor filtering) inducing grey black levels and poor colors. no ability to switch l/r eye.

cheap ultraclear/truedepth glasses: good builds but average quality, in dark scenes strange brighter areas ruin the experience. some of them include the ability to switch l/r.

optoma zd201 : the best for me even if they lack the ability to switch l/r. strong build and very good quality matching the pgd-150. i hope for a keyboard shortcut from nvidia to be able to switch l/r easier!!

that's it!

So you can use normal DLP link glasses with the Nvidia 3D vision, so to speak. Thats good to know. You just need the 3D vision hard ware to watch 3D blue ray movies, plus DVD software, and to use the 3D vision drivers for games, that is, right??
How are the optoma zd201 DLP link glasses compared to the Nvidia 3D vision shutter glasses?? I've heard the new 3D vision 2 glasses are better then the first and are nice and clear. When it comes to the shutter glasses i want the ones that are the clearest and allows the most light in with the best picture.
Your projector has about 300+ more lumens then mine but as you know when you turn on 120hz on your computer the brightness of the projector is cut almost in half, so it seems to me. I'll be spraying up a DIY projector screen that will get alot of that back but how is the 3D with the brightness?? How is the overall 3D effect when watching 3D blue ray?? Thanks again.

I have the Acer H5360 PJ....so I cannot compare the exact setup....but I have tried both the Optoma & 3D Vision 2 glasses, and I like the 3D Vision 2 glasses a little better. They are much more comfortable for me, and they seem to block light from above a lot better. But the biggest reason I like using the 3D Vision glasses has nothing to do with the glasses themselves, but my projector. When I put it in DLP-link mode (required to use DLP link glasses), the image contrast and black levels get destroyed. With the nVidia glasses, I don't have to enable this mode so the image quality is far better. But I don't know if you're able to turn off DLP link mode on your projector, so the difference might not matter for you /wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />

Yeah, mine has a DLP link option and a 3D vision option. I've read in different post that the 3D vision option on the projector does give a better quality picture then the DLP link option. Is there much difference between the 3D vision 1 glasses and the 3D vision 2 glasses?? My room is a very dark color so excess light from my projector doesn't go bouncing around in my room.
