Just ordered
Hi,

I just ordered my 3D vision from ncix.com ($110 off for their anniversary website sale! http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku...p;promoid=1001)

I was wondering, is it necessary to uninstall ALL nvidia related graphics software, and then install the 3D vision drivers (or does the set-up remove the old ones for me?)

Just wondering, as I know drivers are very important to get this working right.

If it matters, I have drivers installed for my nvidia-based 680iLT motherboard, and two 8800GTS SSC in SLI installed.

Thanks!

Yes, you should remove the old drivers first, this is suggested anytime you upgrade drivers. Vista does a good job of reinstalling oem drivers after a reboot. Then you can install the new driver package which includes the 3D drivers. While you are waiting download the latest CD driver package, now at CD 1.07. Run the launch.exe file and it will install the package in the proper order. It will reboot once during the installation. During the 3D install it will tell you when to plug in the emitter USB cable, and run the 3D test.

No, you don't have to remove all nvidia software, just the drivers. The "quick start guide" in the package explains it in detail, it's very simple. :)

Ok, thanks!

I know there is software to help "clean out" the drivers, but you think Vista will be able to do a good job?

No, I would always use something like Driver Sweeper after removing the software and booting into safe mode.

With new drivers, they remove old registry entries efficiently nowadays. The only thing DriveSweeper does is search for "Registry errors", where you get files that are "Stacked installs", where the same files will copy over and over on top of each other without properlly getting removed from the registry. IMO you don't need to run DriveSweeper. If running Drive Sweeper helps you sleep at night, go for it!!!!!! /thumbup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

It's funny because I did it just this last week, yes, you're right I did have some registry entries but I also had some files located on my hdd. These tended to be the previous version dll's and inf files. Not something I want lying around when it comes to installing the drivers again.

Hi again,

So my 3D setup should be coming anyway now. Is it best to do this (got those sets from someone's sig, sounds great!):

How-to reinstall your graphics driver the proper way(Windows only):
1. Uninstall your graphics driver from add/remove programs in control panel, don't restart your computer and proceed to step 2.
2. Download 'Driver Sweeper' from http://download.guru3d.com/Guru3D---Driver...nload-1672.html
3. Run the program and Check Nvidia Display Driver then click clean. After finished cleaning, restart your computer and proceed to step 4.
4. Install the graphics driver compatible with your card. http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us
5. Restart your computer to take effect of the driver installation.

THEN after that, I will have the newest graphics driver available for my two 8800GTS SSC in sli, and then install the software from the disk for 3D vision?

Thanks!
