What harm can it do compared to, say, overclocking your graphics card?

Lord, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.
I honestly think that the 3d vision driver team engineering lead needs to be seriously reconsidered as an employee (assuming it is him/her that is making the boneheaded 3d vision decisions). The 3d vision drivers are in awful shape, the draconian lock down is extremely tiresome and they need to fix them along with add in the features promised (not to mention profiles delivered day and date with game releases instead of a month later).
Completely agree here. Although I think Nvidia is full aware of the state of the drivers and are happy with them, rather than the case being an incompetent employee.
I have pretty much given up on Nvidia. They are taking the Apple proprietary approach and don't seem to even be hinting at adding more advanced-user options. I had hope when I was new to it in early 2009 with my first 3D Vision kit, especially with Andrew frequenting the forums at the time. On the contrary, all they are doing is further dumbing down the user end of it, every step of the way, and lately it seems the only time Andrew (or anyone official for that matter) comes around is when Nvidia has some new 3D ready game to flaunt or something to sell.
At this point, I am simply waiting until ATI and iZ3D/DDD make their plans official and start offering them. I'm holding off on buying my GTX 480 SLI setup for this reason. If ATI and iZ3D/DDD can give us a better experience with more control, I will be spending my money on a Radeon 5970 instead. I hope Nvidia wakes up someday and realizes this is very quickly starting to cost them sales.

i dunno what's so hard about just enjoying 3d vision in it's current state.
yes it has issues but seriously if you can't figure out how to work around
them you shouldn't be using this tech. it's not that hard.
just wait a few more weeks and the drivers should be out.
play some games in 3d in the meantime :)
False dichotomy.
Indeed, how about I criticize along with playing in 3d. /shifty.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':shifty:' /> It isn't out of bounds to criticize a company for not meeting perfectly reasonable expectations, such as not meddling with our ability to adjust max depth and actually having profiles available within a week of a games release along with actually sticking to their promises of features and bug fixes. Criticizing them doesn't make me unable to enjoy 3d vision, it is just a way to communicate my annoyance at the problems with 3d vision.... especially ones that are policy problems and also especially in the face of such obvious and degrading corporate apologism. I can understand technical issues to a point, but many of their policy decisions are complete BS.
