Im planning maby to buy a new screen. Help me decide
1 / 2
Im thinking maby upgrading my passive asus vg23ah into active 3d vision display as i have the adapter and
glasses for my projector setup but i also edit some home videos and some games would be better to play from screen.
Choises:
1.Asus VG248QE 24" 329€
2.BenQ XL2720Z 27" 542€
3.Acer GN246HL 24" 279€
Best quality ? lowest crosstalk ? BenQ ? best bang for the buck ?
the benq would be biggest wow factor in terms of size. it´s 4" bigger than current 23" asus.

I'd seriously consider a 40"+ Samsung 3DTV that supports checkerboard. Looks basically like 1080p. Worth a try at some point. The size of objects in terms of how much FOV they take up can match what their 3D position in space says about them. I could be just used to large screens, which made me not enjoy trying to use the Asus 27" a long time ago, maybe you can just get used to the smaller screen too.

Where did you find those prices? They are too expensive. The Acer costs around 230€ in Spain, the BenQ XL2720Z around 475€ (there is one for 377€ on eBay that only sends to Spain. Good deal), and the Asus can be found for 275€.
Aside from the price, I'm a fan of blur reduction in the BenQ Z monitors, which works from 50Hz to 144Hz. But if you don't care about that and only want to play in 3D, I think people say the Asus VG248QE is free of overdrive artifacts.

If you think that you might possibly want 3D Vision surround in the future, I'd recommend not buying a monitor that does not have a Display Port input. This will save you from having to buy any Active Display Port adapters which cost around $100.
Asus offers a 3yr rapid replacement warranty. I'm unsure about the others. But warranties should also be a consideration in relation to what part of the world a person resides.
If you play in 2D at all, G-Sync might be a consideration if you are planning on staying with Nvidia GPUs.

i propably don´t wan´t surround. I have screen edges. and i got my projector setup for bigger picture.
i just don´t like for example witcher on a big screen. too much microscopic things on the screen. and i cannot use mouse + keyb with projector setup
i try to avoid playing 2D. As time is limited anyways and many hobbies, i enjoy only the good stuff :D
i have learned one thing about bying abroad. don´t buy if the price is much. Currently i have send my projector to service now 4 times ( i have gotten most of the money back in LAMPS, but you have to pay kind of )
and it´s 160 euros a pop.

There's nothing old about it, so if you can settle with 24", I would higly recomend it !

I don't know about crosstalk in 3D. I know a guy that has that monitor but an AMD GPU, so he doesn't use 3D Vision. However, he says that Lightboost looks better in the Asus VG248QE (with less ghosting and overdrive artifacts). So the Asus would be a saber bet for 3D, I guess.
The BenQ (you can also consider the XL2420Z or XL2411Z (this one without DisplayPort)) has blur reduction, which is awesome for emulators, but has overdrive artifacts (in non Lighboost mode) that can be diminished with some tricks.

I have a VG248QE and have experimented with The 27" Benq and Asus Models. The VG248qe will give you the least amount of inversion artifacts but they still exist and are noticeable at shorter distances from the monitor. It handles crosstalk very well though and you'll rarely see it. I personally think the Samsung TVs with checkerboard are the sharpest looking but with that comes slightly more crosstalk so there is no perfect answer as far as I know :-/ There sheer size of a projector along with 0 crosstalk is probably the best experience.

VG248QE which I use I am still pretty happy with, I just sit closer to the screen and definitely a better choice for surround. (due to display ports) It's just annoying the bezels are so thick.

Actually i don't know do i want to sell them allthough i don't use them. Maby if the Price is right.
I have been experiencing trouble with my dual rig, ass my other pj is at repair for the 4th time...
Now just for cleaning as it was dirty after repairs (optics) anyways if i choose to let go i might do something with cheap dlp, as they suppose to give even better color balance... Allthough my results are pretty good currently, and getting better as i get more accurate software to calibrate and create 3D lut's for them.
But as i said, if the Price is good i might sell them ... I have like 7-8 glasses if i remember correctly. I might give up on one or two.
