Emitter disconneting on computer boot
  3 / 15
Graymatter, I tried your technique and it did exactly as you said , the light blinked red and then connected, but once I did a shutdown and boot up, it closed right after Windows booted. msm903, I have done the same for now I can unplug and re-plug emitter but the price we pay for this ( also bought a monitor compatible Asus VG248qe) thinking it would all work fine, but I am disappointed at this point. The product is very good if it could stay connected it would be better ;-)

Gladjag, yes the unplug replug is strictly a onetime shot and doesn't really fix the issue but I find it encouraging that it is possible for the system to boot to a working emitter. It is almost like there is a toggle being switched during bootup and if the emitter is on it toggles off and if it is off it toggles on. For now anyway I prefer unplugging and plugging before boot since that means I don't have to go to the Nvidia control panel to select my Monitor instead of the 3D Vision Discover. I don't know if this is relevant but I noticed you, me, and msm903 all have new 144hz ASUS monitors. It doesn't seem like this should be a monitor issue but something is definitely going on. msm903, do you have an X58 Mother Board?

It happens on my other Computer that's hooked up to an HD tv also. that's using an older i7 board though. Can't remember the model at the moment.

I was thinking the same about it being monitor related, but then read that it is happening on the Asus monitor with the built in emitter also ( seen on other forums) I cant seem to see the common denominator since we have different builds, except for the emitter and windows. Was looking into the power saving mode to see if there was something under the USB that would turn it off ( i.e. like sleep mode) I will put back sleep mode on my PC and see if same thing happens when I take PC out of sleep mode. Will keep you posted.

Tested sleep mode and the emitter starts back up no issues when I take PC out of sleep mode.

Gladjag I liked your idea about investigating Power Options so I went to my Power Plan Options from the Control Panel. I have my computer set for High Performance. I selected Change Plan Settings and then went to "Change Advanced Settings"....Selected "USB settings".... and changed "USB selective suspend setting" from Enabled to Disabled. I have done two complete shut downs and restarts with the emitter coming on at boot and staying on. Twice isn't enough to call it a fix but I don't like constantly shutting down and restarting my computer so I thought I'd post anyway so you guys could also try it and see if there's anything to this.

Oh crud, disabling "USB selective suspend setting" worked one more time but now it is back to not working. I think the system is just messing with me. Good luck Gladjag.

Sorry to hear that GreyMatter, I have left my PC go into to sleep mode ( program for 2 hrs non activity) and when I take it out of sleep mode the emitter reconnects and stays on, go figure and the USD selective suspend is still disabled. Let's see what tier 2 level technicians at Nvidia come up with.

A friend of mine just bought Asus VG248qe and Nividia 3d vision, and after a couple of days, he has the same issues as us with the exception that emitter stays connected but does not automatically find his monitor and he must unplug / re-plus the emitter for it to list his monitor and not 3d discover mode. He is also frutrated having spend so much money on a new PC build and have to manually re-activate his emitter.
GrayMatter I have an X79 board http://www.gigabyte.us/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4050#ov
I'm pretty sure this is at least part of your problem:
GIGABYTE On/Off Charge GIGABYTE X79 series motherboards feature ON/OFF Charge, a unique GIGAYTE technology which allows you not only to charge your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch, but also allows you to Quick Charge it. As an added bonus, it can even be charged when your PC is turned off, so even if you forget to plug it into your charger after you've synced up your music, it will be fully charged when you need it.
After you shutdown kill the power to the PC completely, at the PSU or pull the plug leaving the emitter connected. Then see if it works during next boot. If that doesn't work maybe when windows is shutting down instead of shutting down the emitter, because it still has power, it's putting it in a suspended state ... only when you boot back up nothing is waking it?

I was again googling if there was a way to wake a USD device from the cmd line, script. And I found an article "How Do I Force Windows to Remove and Redetect a USB Device?", if this works you could create a script, batch file, that does step 7 and run that when windows starts, put a shortcut to it in the startup folder? Hi TsaebehT, I guess that migt work for the X79 Gigabyte board, but i can already put my PC in sleep mode and the Emitter will close down and re-initiate when i pull PC out of sleep mode with no issues. It seems like a shame that people have to find a work around for a product that should work. I am still waiting to hear from Nvidia Tier 2 support team on this, they have link to this forum so i am hopng that all the feed back here guides them to a solution.

My second post should work for you, it's basically the software version of unplugging and plugging back in. Unfortunately I don't think I can make a universal script to do it for everyone as everyone's using different USB hubs but following that guide you should be able to come up with it on your own. edit: missed the part that it's using DevCon, although it is Microsoft software, but it just needs to be installed. There's PNPUTIL.EXE but it doesn't seem to support many options at all, I'm not on my 3DPC so I can't test any ideas I have out but I will as soon as I can and get back to you. DevCon seems like the best way to do it so far.
