Looks insane. Nvidia really needs to step up their game and bring out a card like this IN 3D!

Totally, though there is no way I would just give up stereo 3d for that.

I don't get it.. What's so appealing about having 3 monitors sandwiched together ?

Why not just play on a t.v or projector ?? The field of view is much better ..

Personally I'd rather play in 3d, and I don't see this becoming a viable solution any time soon
considering the money one would need to spend in order to utilize it properly.

3d pwns.

Because you are getting much higher resolution with triple-monitors. One HDTV is going to be at 1920x1080 while 3x22" monitors will be at 5040x1050 (over twice the pixels). You are also getting an ultra-wide screen aspect ratio of 48:9, combined with the fact that you can angle the screens in to surround your field of view. This is much more immersive then just one monitor (even a large one). Even a 100" display at 16:9 has the same in-game FOV of a 22" display. You need a wider AR to get a larger FOV.

Well I happen to own a Zalman Trimon so I believe it will still work in 3D (although not with Nvidia's drivers obviously). And this is certainly a viable option for the people that have the money to spend on something like this. Its probably cheaper than getting a 3-way SLI rig and there is a market for that. Plus, as long as I have it running on my rig I could really care less if Joe 6-Pack can afford it.

while interesting the vids really don't seem appealing. I like the idea of the increased FOV but the loss of Depth is not something I would be able to look over. Perphiral Vision is supposed to be Peripheral I should have a clear colour and precise views of my peripheral view just not near to realistic as I would want it .... I'd much prefer to see a HMD with head tracking enabled that can do S3D.

Yes indeed!

I am really disappointing that this was AMD's big surprise that is supposed to change the landscape of PC gaming. I was hoping they would be hopping on board with a 3d stereo solution dammit. /thumbsdown.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Yeah the more ATI brings it on the better. I'd love to see ATI go S3D, or for that matter, even Intel, and I can see myself leaving the NVidia boat with little love loss.

High resolution and increased FOV dont mean dick without depth. I gladly keep my gtx275 F.T.W. sli and single small 3d monitor over that crap any day.

Just went to AMD forum ....my god it's butt ugly ...I hope their driver and graphics card design philosophy has nothing to do with the forum's user interface's "artistic" inclination....crap...after visiting AMD forum I'm so glad there is NVidia, I'm shuddering thingking if one day I had to buy AMD graphics card and had to post on their forum, Nvidia please please don't let that happen.

Well there is the Vuzix VR920 that can do this. It does support stereo 3D and has headtracking but the resolution is low (640x480) and the FOV is really narrow (around 32 degrees). If you already have a 22" 3D monitor I wouldn't recommend getting one. After I got my 22" the headset has sat in a box. Maybe in the future they will come out with a high-res, high-fov headset but its just not there yet.

@distant: Yeah, the AMD/ATI forum looks like butt. Plus the threads didn't even seem interesting. There wasn't even anyone talking about the Eyefinity (you'd think there would be like 100 threads with ATI fanbois foaming at the mouth). Lame.

Does that work with the new drivers?
I have a z800 visor rthat I can't sue anymore. 800X600 with head tracking, but Nvidia driver no longer supposrts it and no windows 7 64bit driver for the glasses.

With the Nvidia drivers? No. But the VR920 does work with the Vuzix drivers (included) and the Iz3D drivers ($50 extra) and both of those work with Vista (probably Win7 too). In terms of the Z800, you're SOL, sorry.
