World of Warcraft Review ....In S3D ! My First S3D Review using Nvidia 3D Vision bundle
1 / 3
There a is a couple of things I would like to add for why i posted this here.
At one point Warcraft ran Perfectly in S3D, and I mean perfectly. No interface, Map or chat bar Anomaly's, Flicker was non-existent. It was absolutely Glorious playing Warcraft in S3D and even though I have to do some adjusting before jumping into a game it still is. The first time I played WOW in S3D I was speechless , awesome "pop out" effect and great "Depth". It's sad that Warcraft is some what under attack at the moment because the game is Fantastic in S3D and feel that People need to see it for themselves. Yes, atm there are issues but I'm hoping that with the overwhelming interest in S3D right now the issues will be fixed relatively soon.
This video was all captured on Nvidias 3D Vision bundle and if you notice in the video I have left the Anomalys in tack so you can see them for yourself. As for the flickering all hardware issues do not effect the games rating and is mentioned only for your convenience. This is to be fair to the developers of the game.
I did this video for 5 reasons
1. I love Warcraft
2. I think Nvidia has a stellar product and should be shown its potential .
3. I want people to experience the game by seeing it in S3D so they can make there own assessments.
4. For S3D advocacy in the community.
5. For the Admins : I think this is a great way to bring information to there attention. They need our feedback, help and support in order to solve problems and i hope this video provides some to them.
This was my first S3D Video review on any game and I tried to be as thorough as i could, I put my heart into this for us S3D Gamers, I hope you enjoy it

Well done...! /yes.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />/sweat.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
Never see any 3d video's of games posted before...
I used my (trio)scopics ?! glasses from Coraline dvd and it looked pretty good.
If you have the new Prince of Persia ..then I highly recommend that one too...it looks much better shown in a video, then it does with some .jps screenshot.
But it's a good game to show how well 3d improves the quality of the gaming experiance.

WoW is currently unplayable on any hardware made in the last 2 years, or any NVIDIA driver released in the last 2 years...
I'm not sure why you posted this as there is a forum post here already with nearly 30,000 views and hundreds of posts all confirming that WoW does not work.
The drivers you are using are ancient, support no modern games, no sli, and none of the new monitors/projectors/tvs.
Hopefully people will not be misled by you're misinformation... You cherry picked an old driver which isn't even supported by NVIDIA, and an ancient monitor.
Hell, even NVIDIA themselves have acknowledged that WoW is no longer playable on their own website.
NVIDIAs response has been piss poor. They told us over 12 months that they would look into it. 10 Months later they asked what the issue was. Recently we have all been posting on the Better Business Bureaus’ website to try to get some suport, as many of us bought a thousand dollars worth of "NVIDIA supported hardware" under the assumption that "Excellent support for World of Warcraft" actually was the truth. Years later we have yet to receive a proper response.
Personally, after years of being an NVIDIA fan, spending thousands on their products, and waiting patiently for about 2 years for a response as to why WoW is unplayable on 99% of their supported hardware; I feel let down, embarrassed for supporting them all this time, and completely enraged that they seemingly have absolutely no resemblance of any customer service.
I fully expect that in another year, we will still not have a playable version of WoW in 3d...
I half expect you to be an NVIDIA marketing rep or something trying to clear up the horrible publicity that this very issue has caused for them. If you are innocent, and honestly don't understand the issue that 99% of their customers are facing (as it pertains to WoW) than I apologize. Realize, not everyone has your monitor, your old version of the driver, or the desire, or even ability to switch back to a version that supports no games made in the last year.
As readers if you are thinking of buying a 3d setup to play wow... DO NOT. We have 0 support from NVIDIA and the GAME REMAINS UNPLAYABLE.

Time to play another game in 3d ,and move on...imo
You actually wait two years for a game to work in 3d ?
There are alot more good games out there, that run good in stereoscopic 3d,maybe you should try them out.... :)

I would never have bought this setup if NVIDIA's site was truthful and said that WoW would not be playable for almost all of its customers.
Instead, being an avid fan of NVIDIA products I believed their rating of "Excellent" on their product, and purchased a new 3d monitor, and glasses setup.
Turns out that WoW is completely unplayable, and no matter how many hundreds of posts, tens of thousands of views and hundreds of phone calls, all on behalf of their community, they still have 0 interest in supporting their fans.
WoW is the only game I play, and the only game I am interested in playing. As a result of false advertising on NVIDIAs behalf, I view every penny I spent on my setup as a complete and utter waste.
I know that I am not the only one who feels this way either. I'm just one of the sad people that check this forum at work daily in hopes that NVIDIA has fixed the issue. If I knew this was how we, as paying customers would be treated, I never would have purchased an NVIDIA product. I thoroughly regret every penny I have contributed to their cause.

Warcraft in S3D looks exactly the way it has been shown in the video on my Nvidia 3D Vision bundle. I'm not sure why your getting different results and for the drivers they were released April 13, 2010 and the beta drivers which I'm not going to do a review on a game with beta drivers installed came out May 24, 2010. So hardly ancient. I have been working on the video for the past couple weeks and the newest drivers came out June 15, 2010 which is only a couple days ago from now. so I'm not sure about what you mean by Miss leading I am finding it hard to understand your perspective as seeing the video clearly indicates Warcraft is playable in S3D on Nvidias 3D Vision Bundle , . As for the difference in the drivers there is unfortunately no difference when playing on the 3D Vision bundle beside from the added support for new LCD monitors, Projectors and game profiles. I would suggest you find another game to play.
I Would like to recommend another game for you that i think really shows some great 3D effects,

WoW is still bugged (Live and PTR) and Nvidia is working with Blizzrad to fix the issues in one of the next Patches.
[codebox]NOTE: We are working with the developer of World of Warcraft titles to fix an issue that will restore the experience to EXCELLENT for those titles.[/codebox]

Thank you for agreeing with my point that i stated in the video review, That is why the game was rated a 7 out of 10 because of these issues. If it was perfect it would have gotten a 10, but unfortunately at this point there are things that need to be corrected in the game to have it run like it used to.
I appreciate your help in supporting my conclusions. The more awareness to these problems the faster they can be resolved . It's for these reasons I'm so happy to have done the video because it shows exactly what is happening and allows people to make up there own minds.

I would say that WOW is playable in current condition. The only problem I'm having with is the map cursor and hardware mouse cursor. Other than those minor problems I would say its' one of my top 10 game picks for 3d vision. Sorry to hear you're having so many problems but it runs great for me.

LOL I have no idea what your problem is. Its like if the game does not work "its NVIDIAS falut". Like Blizzard which we all KNOW are in the middle of putting out a huge expansion. And they are always updated, adding new things till launch. So theres no way nvidia is going to fix some silly "hud" problem or the like when one month later Blizzard changes it.
The 1st thing that shows you this post I quoted is a joke should be the line "WoW is currently unplayable on any hardware made in the last 2 years, or any NVIDIA driver released in the last 2 years..." WOW has always been since 2004 that I know of the best MMO because you can play it on almost any computer..
Anyway.. the ONLY..ONLY problem I have with WOW in 3D is the maps. And put up or shut up. And that is testing in Win 2008r2, Win 7 x64, Win x32 and YOU PICK THE DRIVER. Asus motherboard, 8gb ram Nvidia 280, Nvidia 470.
So I dont expect it to be restored to "that will restore the experience to EXCELLENT" any time soon. And you should never buy this for ONE game.
And come on its not like WOW is the only game they have to look into, fix. WOW is ALWAYS changing.

Anyway.. the ONLY..ONLY problem I have with WOW in 3D is the maps.
Nice job Recostar, i liked the video. As my pc can no longer keep up with the requirements needed with the most recent games I have been forced to play World of Warcraft (what do 11.5 milllion people know anyways.......right). Now some may say the game is too old to care about and not worth the trouble/wait but for someone like me who has invested in the items needed to have s3d in home a year ago, what are our options? Stop playing completely because Metro 2233 wont play smoothly for me, guess what..........EVERY GAME HAD/HAS ISSUES. People going out of their way to fix or continue to work with the probems are the ones who will create the change from having issues (metro 2233-launch) to working (metro 2233-now). I like the fact there is still great community support for WOW. At least i have something i can play smoothly, is still supported and multiplayer with others who can enjoy the same expearnce at the same time........which is almost impossable to replicate without a billion dollar moster pc that can display a billion fps exta. WOW is fun and worth the effort to make s3d perfect. The video was well done, took time to make and informative....unlike some posts to this thread..........
I dislike the N-staff who make poor choices (read lie) as much as the next guy but save your hate for the ones who create the problem not the ones who work with it and try to overcome it....much harder to do.............trust me i have my share of hate posts here too :)

Thanks for the support Cravin , I know Warcraft is not perfect and i tried to be as clear about the precises issues in the Video as i could. I felt it was important to elaborate on specific problems in order to be more thorough. I thought it was a fair attempt to try and get people to formulate there own opinions. This way People with similar setups can see what it will look like on there 3D Vision systems. Not everyone plays Warcraft (only 11.5 million do) but i thought it would help other decide if it was a game worth giving a shot or passing. There is a ton of miss leading information out there. After reading some of the post here you would think warcraft couldn't turn on with 3D Vision running and nothing can be further from the truth. I hope it shined some light on the situation, because the game is awesome in S3d, if you can look past some of the flaws.

This is something that i wanted to also make clear to in the video . Unfortunately, the map it is not readable to a point were its actually uncomfortable to look at. Originally I had it in the Video of what the mapp actually looked like, but because i didn't want to make anyone feel uncomfortable i pulled it. The map is really bad and i rated it accordingly .

I somewhat disagree with this entire thread (except the one guy who said the same thing Im going to say). If hitting actions bars are a large part of WOW and you have no idea when the timers cool down and the map is completely useless (every game has a map where you can tell exactly where you are and where you need to go), then the game is basically unplayable. Also, as dozens have pointed out in the more useful thread that will hopefully get addressed eventually, most people with newer 120hz monitors and the new needed drivers prevent any real movement of the convergence and depth sliders in the game to get even close to the effect that others were getting before the latest couple of rounds of drivers were released. If I wanted primitive 3D effects, I would have purchased the red and blue glasses from the 70s and played that way..not $800 between a new Alienware monitor and a 3D Kit. 7 out of 10? I say 2 out of 10.

I Would like to recommend another game for you that i think really shows some great 3D effects,
Metro2033 looks fantastic in 3D,

Thank you for agreeing with my point that i stated in the video review, That is why the game was rated a 7 out of 10 because of these issues. If it was perfect it would have gotten a 10, but unfortunately at this point there are things that need to be corrected in the game to have it run like it used to.
I appreciate your help in supporting my conclusions. The more awareness to these problems the faster they can be resolved . It's for these reasons I'm so happy to have done the video because it shows exactly what is happening and allows people to make up there own minds.
