I want to improve the automatic installation of fixes. Until now it was not possible in 3D Fix Manager to assign a game to another game profile in nvidia driver. I experimented a little bit with Nvidia Inspector and it seems pretty simple to do that. I created an example for Borderlands 2. This game requires assigning the game to "Alice Madness Returns" - profile (according to the fix description). For doing that I created this .nip file with Nvidia Inspector:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-16"?> <ArrayOfProfile> <Profile> <ProfileName>Borderlands 2</ProfileName> <Executeables> <string>launcher.exe</string> </Executeables> <Settings /> </Profile> <Profile> <ProfileName>Alice: Madness Returns</ProfileName> <Executeables> <string>borderlands2.exe</string> <string>alicegame.exe</string> <string>shippingpc-alicegame.exe</string> <string>alicemadnessreturns.exe</string> </Executeables> <Settings /> </Profile> </ArrayOfProfile>
This removes borderlands2.exe from borderlands 2 profile and assigns it to Alice: Madness Returns. I made another .nip for undoing the changes:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-16"?> <ArrayOfProfile> <Profile> <ProfileName>Alice: Madness Returns</ProfileName> <Executeables> <string>alicegame.exe</string> <string>shippingpc-alicegame.exe</string> <string>alicemadnessreturns.exe</string> </Executeables> <Settings /> </Profile> <Profile> <ProfileName>Borderlands 2</ProfileName> <Executeables> <string>launcher.exe</string> <string>borderlands2.exe</string> </Executeables> <Settings /> </Profile> </ArrayOfProfile>
Since I do not have any knowledge about Nvidia 3D profiles I want to ask you if this method is a proper way of assigning a game to another profile or if it has any disadvantages? Would it be ok to bundle the download of 3D Fix Manager with Nvidia Inspector? Since Nvida Inspector is open source there should not be any restrictions?

I created an example for Borderlands 2. This game requires assigning the game to "Alice Madness Returns" - profile (according to the fix description). For doing that I created this .nip file with Nvidia Inspector:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-16"?>
<ArrayOfProfile>
<Profile>
<ProfileName>Borderlands 2</ProfileName>
<Executeables>
<string>launcher.exe</string>
</Executeables>
<Settings />
</Profile>
<Profile>
<ProfileName>Alice: Madness Returns</ProfileName>
<Executeables>
<string>borderlands2.exe</string>
<string>alicegame.exe</string>
<string>shippingpc-alicegame.exe</string>
<string>alicemadnessreturns.exe</string>
</Executeables>
<Settings />
</Profile>
</ArrayOfProfile>

This removes borderlands2.exe from borderlands 2 profile and assigns it to Alice: Madness Returns.

I made another .nip for undoing the changes:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-16"?>
<ArrayOfProfile>
<Profile>
<ProfileName>Alice: Madness Returns</ProfileName>
<Executeables>
<string>alicegame.exe</string>
<string>shippingpc-alicegame.exe</string>
<string>alicemadnessreturns.exe</string>
</Executeables>
<Settings />
</Profile>
<Profile>
<ProfileName>Borderlands 2</ProfileName>
<Executeables>
<string>launcher.exe</string>
<string>borderlands2.exe</string>
</Executeables>
<Settings />
</Profile>
</ArrayOfProfile>

Since I do not have any knowledge about Nvidia 3D profiles I want to ask you if this method is a proper way of assigning a game to another profile or if it has any disadvantages?

@Pauldusler: Regarding using the .nip files to change profiles automatically- I think that should work. If the NVidia Inspector is scriptable, or you can directly use the code that writes the profiles, since it's Open Source. They use an MIT license, which means you are free to take their code and use it as you like. The only restriction is that you have to include a Copyright reference that you did so. Add it to your license, and also to your about box.

I went the easy way now - importing profiles by calling nvidiaInspector.exe" "someProfile.nip" -silent. This works pretty good so far. In fix profile tab it will be possible to add custom .nip - files for installing 3D profiles. Especially old DirectX 9 helixmod fixes will benefit of this (3dmigoto already installs 3d profiles automatically)

What is happening in Task Manager? Is there a process "3DFixManager.exe"? So maybe there is some imcompatiblity with .NET framework? Do you have .NET framework 4.5 and 4.5.1 installed? Hi paul ! it seems there is a problem with the MINECRAFT fix. i installed it before to install 3DFix. it doesn't appear in 3DFix manager and badly, he worked some weeks ago, but i tried today, it doesn't work anymore, i think it's due to my system but 3Dfix could be useful to reinstall it correctly. the fix is a little hard to put because there are a lot of things to do (see commentaries)

I've seen that there are different versions of minecraft. A Steam version with story (http://store.steampowered.com/app/376870?l=german) and another version without story on https://minecraft.net/de-de/. And when I remember correctly there was a version for free? I've played minecraft only once many years ago. So I don't have any idea about this game any more. If I find time I'll install minecraft and try the fix to know exactly what has to be done to make the fix work. According to the comments on helixblog you have to assign a 3d profile (Max Payne 3). This is something 3D Fix Manager is able to do with the next release version. Do you have another computer for testing if there's the same problem? In worst case you could do a fresh install of windows 10 without installing any other additional programs which could interfere with 3D Fix Manager and test it again. But I would suggst to make a complete backup of the old windows installation first by using Acronis True Image for example. So you can easily restore the backup when it didn't help anyway..
