I really want to try Q4 in 3D
it looks like it would work but it doesn't
is there any patch for it or will this just have to remain a dream ?

It's a big no go. Doom 3, Quake 4, and I believe the newest Wolfenstein are all OpenGL. I would have liked to play Doom 3 in S3D aswell.

I wanna play the doom 1 and 2 sourceports in 3d! but they're all opengl.

We'll never get opengl.

Its funny cause back when Doom3 first came out the Nvidia driver did support OpenGL. I remember playing Doom3 back then with my old ELSA Revelators and that thing was scary as hell. Turn the lights off, but the 3d glasses on, god damn. Its the stuff of nightmares. Don't think I've ever been that scared playing a game. Its too bad Nvidia as decided to drop OpenGL supports. That also means that the old Nvidia demos don't work any more like Dawn (with the nude patch ;) ), Nalu, Adriane Curry, etc. Really sad.

Doom3, Prey, wolfenstein, Return to castle wolfenstein, Serious sam in openGL mode.... these are just a few that should work but dont. Nvidia has promise opengl suport for 3dvision, but then again Nvidia has promised openGL 4.0 suport at the GTX480 launch, and that hasnt happened either...
So maybe one day...

Also an interesting thing with S3D. It works betters in well-lit envirements, so doom3 might not be that great.

Its just an artificial means to segment the pro market as the Quaddro setups with 3d can do opengl. Don't know if that extends to games though.

Ha....I know what you mean about Doom3 being scary in 3D........it makes you jump in 2D so one can only imagine what 3D would be like............. /shock.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> /fear.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':fear:' /> /fear.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':fear:' />

The only other game that made me like that was the original Alien vs Predator when that bloody sonar thing started to bleep. .......has any one given that a go ?...i'll have to dig it out...still think i have a copy somewhere !!

I almost wonder if the reason there is no OpenGL support for us at the moment could be tied to business politics. Maybe a similar situation to the iPhone/iPad and these devices lack of support for Adobe Flash. I know this is the case with Apple as Mr. Jobs has stated that he literally doesn’t like Flash and wants to kill the format in support of what is it HTML5 or something like that. Maybe nVidia sees that directx, while not open like opengl, is much more widely used and they have reason to want to hurry putting the nails in opengl’s coffin.

Simply put NVIDIA hates OpenGl
A lot of great games will never be in 3D because of that

Back to the Doom3 topic, i played it at night then had nightmares like 2 nights after that
3D would probably give be a heart attack :D
