3d flight sim options?
Hi,

Can anyone recommend a good flight sim for my nvidia 3d vision setup? My dad got the hardware as a gift for me last month and now he is coming to visit. If there was some cool flight sim to show him, he would get a HUGE kick out of it. I have a 470, so hardware req's should not be a problem.

I hear HAWX is not too bad, but I think something a bit more historic or relaxed might be more fun for him.

Thanks,

Pete

Try wings of prey demo , its arcade but looks cool nevertheless.

Then its time perhaps to read about another serious attempt at simulation callde the russian made Storm of war: battle of britain , in development for 5 years now, fully photorealistic, DX11, best physics ever yet. Russian goverment rubles lately and russian president on visit :

Curved screen 3d pj would ve looked better.

well I'm a sim newcomer, fired up wings of prey after talkin about this stuff for ages, well , it was too much for my sensory perception, hopefully they goin to support naval and land based vehicles fast enough. :)

Heard you can control AA artillery from the start? Gosh :)

For some reason alot of previous flight sims have used Opengl to render images and not directx. As far as I know, Storm of War will also render in Opengl. Trouble is right now we have no support for it with 3d vision. So no IL2, no battleground europe, and no Storm of War atm.

90% of what I do is wwii flight simming with either IL2 or BGE. I keep hoping for that support to come.

Storm of War is dx11 ,not opengl.

I hope they give us anti aliasing for free (dx11, or morphological anti aliasing) , so I can turn up the goodies and 3d at 720p .

You sure about that? The information I have read said it will be opengl, and not directx.

Do you have a source? Not calling you out, but what I read from Oleg (may be older info) was that Storm of War was indeed to be opengl.

I'll check into it again. If it's like IL2, while it may have a directx "option", it's still opengl rendering (don't ask me how that works, because I have no idea!), and thus will not work with 3d vision technology (at present).

You were right! I was wrong. :(

I still want opengl support though!

BUT that does at least mean good things for storm of war and 3d vision!

Yay! :)
