REQUEST: Ability to adjust projected screen size Any update on this?

A while back I posted about how important it is that the option to set your screen size is.
Without the ability to adjust the screen size, you render projectors almost useless for applications other than extreme, 100-200" set ups.
I have a home cinema setup, which is roughly 130" - however, your default settings make the maximum depth for this set up a little too small.
I also have a gaming setup, which uses an 60" projected screen, and the maximum depth on this setup is NO WHERE near enough. without altering the registry, it is almost unusable.
Since DLP is without a doubt the best tech for gaming at the moment, this seems to be an essential, and extremely easy change to make.
On the back of the last topic (which i was unable to find btw) one of the admins said that they would send it to their development team to look into.
Im just wondering what progress, if any, there has been on this.
As an update, I have started playing a few new games, and ironically those games that are 3D ready are the least impressive, due to the locked convergence. with such a small limit on depth, upping convergence was the only way to get a semi decent 3D effect.
Hopefully, you will consider this something that has a very high payoff for the small amount of work it would involve to implement.

Yep, I've been using the registry hack for (quite literally now) several years. It works great, but it messes up your ability to edit other 3d Vision settings without enabling/disabling it. This is a feature that would take an hour's worth of work - simply hooking up to a slider in the control panel to the already functional registry value - and yet us "early adopters" have suffered for years for no reason. I'd love to get excited about 3d vision, but all these fundamental and long-standing issues pile up and make using 3d vision an exercise in patience.

Why has this feature not returned with 3dvision? Especially since 3dvision is still built on old code, enough evidence of that can be found in the driver files with a hex editor.

I appreciate what your saying, but I'm just chasing up the response to the last thread. If there's even a slim chance this can get implemented then I'm going to pursue it.
As we've all agreed, this represents a few minutes work and will change a good percentage of users experience for the better.

Come on nvidia. This needed to be added a year ago. This has been discussed many times. Also the depth settings in the nvidia driver are way to weak. Try comparing depth levels between an Samsung 2233rz and an Acer h5360. The acer at 100% depth has 30% of depth of the samsung. And becuase a projector can have many different screen sizes it is illogical to have this locked anyway.

Not meaning this to be a threat, but I have 2 3D setups in my home, and 3 extra pairs of glasses. I have invested several thousands of pounds into making my home 3D ready - but i find myself increasingly playing things without 3D enabled. This is SOLEY because of the hastle of having to tinker with registry settings whenever i want to play.

Since I can use the same projector to project a 30" or a 300" screen, there simply HAS to be some way of letting the driver know the size.
I think that the driver expects the largest possible size - which means even for good (100" ish) sizes, the dept is relatively poor - and for a 40" screen - its almost non existent. everything looks very flat, almost like it only has 2 planes (one slightly in the distance, and one at screen level)
While adjusting the registry file is possible, it is a royal pain in the pooper, since if you have to modify any setting, or leave the game for nay reason you gotta set it all up again.
Im not trying to get some extreme OMG 3D that is potentially bad for your eyes - im simply trying to get a 3D effect that is on par with set size displays - and not only that, the flexibility so that when i choose to take my projector elsewhere, i can calibrate it for that environment too...

This is all it boils down to. Projected images are obviously going to be different sizes. It makes no sense to default to 55" or whatever it is. My projected image is twice that. As a developer, I could easily say this is less than an hours worth of work, especially since the registry key mechanism is already there and functional. There's no reason this shouldn't have been done years ago, and the amount of time we've all spent working around it over the years is just absurd.
There's no other reason that this hasn't happened other than that nVidia doesn't actually use their product, and their development process is either so bureaucratic, incompetent or lackadaisical that using their product is going to be a nonstop nightmare (even if this one particular issue is fixed). This is such an easy-to-fix issue that it worries me about the serious bigger issues that need fixing (game support for games that are fully supported by iZ3D and others, the warning message that is indismissable, etc etc)
I'm really glad AMD's HD3D seems to be shaping up so that I can finally fulfill my fantasy of burning my 3D vision kit to the ground and posting the video on these forums.

I doubt the FOV you have on your projectors is as big as the one on my 46" LCD screen, since i sit 2'8" from it. I'll happily use that option myself, no need to restrict it to projectors for the reasons GragProductions described, I havn't done any surveys, but i think most users have brains.
