Asus PG278QR
Hello, I was planning to upgrade my 3D monitor (Samsung 2233Rz, 22") and get a better one, and I am leaning towards the Asus PG278QR, not the normal PG278Q, but the PG278QR. I have readed that the original PG278Q had sometimes (some units) problems in 3D as inversed lines, or ghosting, but I have not found information about if these problems are gone in more recent units, and -more interesting- if the new PG278QR, at side of having an additional HDMI input, has some other improvements, mainly 3D Vision related. and of coursehe user guide of the PG278QR says that it supports 3D Vision, Lightboost, at side of G-Sync, and ULMB. Do you know some 3D Vision review of the PG278QR? Someone has the PG278QR and has used it with 3D? Do you know something about this model, and specially related to 3D Vision? Is good? Has it improvements? I hardly can find any info about what new features it has, and nothing about 3D. Thanks!
Hello,

I was planning to upgrade my 3D monitor (Samsung 2233Rz, 22") and get a better one, and I am leaning towards the Asus PG278QR, not the normal PG278Q, but the PG278QR.

Do you know some 3D Vision review of the PG278QR? Someone has the PG278QR and has used it with 3D?

Do you know something about this model, and specially related to 3D Vision? Is good? Has it improvements? I hardly can find any info about what new features it has, and nothing about 3D.

Thanks!

It is the most impressive monitor I ever had. The quality of normal and 3D picture is just mind blowing. Nothing what I had before come even close to that. Problems with 3D were on the very first models, which are not on sale anymore. Don`t go for SLI setup because might give you a headache. If you not thinking about 4K 3D TV then this is the best 3D monitor you can go for at this point.

Yeas 3D Surround on these monitor will DEFINITELY REQUIRED YOU SLI! SLI is another layer of complexity;) It is doable but nothing that normally works out of the box. SLI profiles - if added - are always later than game releases;) Also having 3 of these in 3D Surround will push both your GPU to insane limits. If you aim for 60FPS in all games, it will not be possible. Think 30-50 in 3D Surround at 3x 1440p. Other than that, all people that I know with the PG278Q monitors are very satisfied with it;)

Not sure if these problems have been resolved driver side, but I am pretty happy with my ones in surround. Apart from the fact there probably isn't a computer on the planet that can drive it in 3d surround at a respectable frame-rate. (yes, respectable to me is 50-60fps) =) The real annoyance is that Gsync appears to create intermittent problems and will prevent 3dvision from working at all. It appears to bug out and hang and the NCP seems obsessed to keep reminding you that you have Gsync panels. Only fix I have found for this is to remove the power cable for a minute of so if it occurs. It's rare enough to not be a major issue. I wish Gsync just wasn't a feature to be honest. 3dvision is better....

I've had three PG278Q's. One of them had dead pxiels. There were no other issues and the panels were flawless. The 3D is the best I've ever seen on any TV or monitor. There is very little ghosting. It's the best monitor I've ever owned - even better than my Dell UltraSharps which were IPS. You do need to adjust the gamma manually since it's a TN. Once the gamma is adjusted, the colours are more accurate than most IPS panels. The PG278QR looks like the same monitor with the upgraded G-SYNC module and HDMI.

Now using a 24" 1080p and my next move would be 27" 1440p so I'll keep this model in mind. I'm confused and I don't recall what I read exactly, can GSync and 3D Vision work at the same time or GSync is 2D only?

No vertical scanlines produced by pixel inversion? I'm jealous. They are always there in my Dell S2716DG when I play in 3D. They are only difficult to see in dark scenes. I got used to it, but it's like playing with a mandatory CRT shader from Retroarch.

Hello, I had 3x PG278Q previously and it worked glorious in surround with 144hz of refresh rate across all monitors with Gsync. Unfortunately I had one monitor replaced with the newer PG278QR which is supposed to be roughly the same monitor. Issue is in surround I am limited to 120hz instead of 144hz like it should be. Independantly I can set the monitor to 144hz itself no problem it only prohibits me setting it within surround itself. Also when I have that surround profile running there is a weird ghosting happening on the main panel. Any help would be appreciated.
