Autostereoscpic 3D Display (Glasses Free 3D) & nVidia Finally, its here.
  1 / 2
I am delighted to say I have a brand new autostereoscopic 3D Display at my disposal and will be updating this post over the next week with info on compatibility (if any) with 3D Vision.

This is a multi-view screen using 5-tile 3D so there will be complications. If anyone has anything they would like to ask / suggest, please feel free to send me an email

First update tomorrow once I have had a chance to gorge myself in the glory of glasses free 3D. Watch this space.

UPDATE

I have attached a video showing off how the display works, please excuse the terrible quality, I recorded using an iphone 4

There are certain legalities that keep me from revealing the exact brand and model at the moment (I will go into more detail as soon as I have completed my negotiations with the above mentioned company some time in the next few days) but I can tell you that it uses a Phillips Mother-glass and is awesome! More to follow in the next couple of hours.

I would assume it's this one.

Looks damn nice too. But, a bit out of my price range...

Lenticular... that's the one where they show each eye half the picture, isn't it? So the real resolution is 960x1080 per eye? I wonder what kind of format it expects as input. Just sending two full HD images to it won't work because the HDMI cable won't be able to handle it.

No clue what "5 tile" 3D might be.

5 Tile is the method of displaying the images for the display to then convert to 3D,Autostereoscopic Displays use Multiview (n-View) instead of SBS.

The brightness of the display is the first thing I noticed, supremely bright!

I am in the process of converting some of my content into 5-tile format as at present, I only have a few select videos that work.

Good quality autostereo is many years away, don't be fooled by these white backlit LCD sets, its a rebadgement, they use a patterned micro lens array, and trade away spatial resolution (image quality) for autostereo. Temporal resolution is bad to begin with, the fact that it autoconverts gives it away, input lag must be huge, and unacceptable.
What you really want for gaming is mouse replacement via eye tracking, and also replacement of the lossy LC shutter with better shuttering element.

This kinda micro lens technology is only good for exhibitions , pubs, airports.

I disagree entirely, I was playing Far Cry on it last night and it performed very well!

It is truly fantastic not having to wear glasses. I will upload some screenshots / videos over the course of the evening. I will attach a few to this post too.

Alas, I am using a variation of different softwares to get this working. Im sure it is in the pipeline though. /wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />

Duke Nukem Forever is pretty awesome on this thing though. I am going to have to resort to filming it with a camera to try and show off the multiview side of it.
