thankfully you said it with less exclamation marks. is there any reason why you cant upgrade to win7 when it is released? xp wont be supported then and windows7 is a fantastic OS. i dont think NVIDIA will support anoperating system that isnt supported by microsoft.

Yeah a little miscommunication here. A lot of people still think Vista is crappier than the average coffee machine, because when it came out it was almost like a BSOD in a box. These days however, its a lot more stable.
I don't see why people complain about upgrading their hardware so they can install W7 or Vista. When XP came out, everyone upgraded their pc's for it, so why not with Vista and W7?

Does anyone knows if there is a way to manually turn the emitter on (I press the button in front of the "chopped pyramid of death" but notin happens!).
I use Vista (like "Hasta la Vista baby") and have a quad core and a gtx 280, Samsung 120hz...

I was in the exact same situation, bought the glasses then realized that it won't work on my XP desktop...so I installed vista64 on another partition of my hard drive in order to get stereo 3d gaming....it's quite a hassle............now looking back at it>> it might be easier for windows XP user to just get the IZ3D 22'' monitor/glasses deal, since it's not only cheaper but also works great on XP...just my 2 cents

While I completely sympathize with gourmet's frustration, I agree that approach doesn't fly with anyone and is counter-productive. I'm in the XP boat for another reason, I'm an enterprise user and there are lots of us that are locked into XP for IT reasons. With W7 on the horizon, Vista simply isn't going to be adopted on a mass scale. That leaves XP users in the cold for another couple of years until IT deems 7 stable enough and safe enough to implement bureau-wide. Granted, the percentage that would need stereo-capability is tiny but it does exist.
I'm in this thread because I'm hoping to use 3D Vision and geographic information system (GIS) software to view and classify stereo aerial photography - no gaming here, unfortunately. As it stands now, I have no choice but to dual-boot into Vista, reload gigabytes worth of software, and see if I can't get everything to play nice. If nvidia would relent and develop an XP driver, we could put the 3D bundle on a number of XP desktops that are already running everything else necessary work in stereo, and make so many lives so much the better.

Using 3D Vision & Quadro 4000 for GIS apps on 64-bit Windows 7/Dell T7500 Workstation
I too am hoping for XP Drivers. I'm running a new computer with 4 gigs of memory and a GTX260. The performance hit I take with Vista is far too great, and BSODs are a regular occurence. XP is much faster and completely stable. I'm currently running Windows 7 Beta, and while the speed hit is lessened, the stability is very lacking, freezing outright several times a day. I'd really like to use 3d Vision without having to reboot Windows 7 / Vista several times a day.

your computer is unstable, from the sounds of it you are having the same problem i had, the graphics card is broken. my last card would game forever in xp no probs but would freeze and crash in vista after 10 mins. sent it back for a replacement, and it games fine in vista now.

I wish that was the case, however, I just upgraded from an 8800 GT. I've also replaced the motherboard, the memory, the hard drive, the power supply. The entire computer is new parts, produced well after the release of Vista. I'm not looking for help, I'm just sharing my experience, and desire for an XP version.

I think Qazax is a pretty cool guy. eh kills aleins and doesnt afraid of anything.
Seriously though, I don't think there's any need for XP drivers at all. Sure, Vista is buggy, but so was XP when it came out.

I concur with gourmet- I would really like Nvidia to upgrade their drivers with win XP compatibility.

We both have 8800GTS with same CPU and she has 2 GB more RAM, and games always run better on my machine.
Currently we are playing with 3D vision using her computer, and the added work of double rendering almost makes games like Burnout to choppy to enjoy.
I have to wonder if I could run it on XP, if things would be smoother.
So yes, I wish there were XP drivers as well.
