Whoa I didn't know we could hack 3d vision into VR
Looks like we can hack our way to play 3d vision games in VR using 3dmigoto and Big Screen according to this post https://www.reddit.com/r/Vive/comments/7h916h/do_i_need_to_get_vorpx_to_play_games_like/dqp68mg/ in reddit, if this was already known sorry for posting about it:
>>I don't know specifically about Borderlands 2. But you can use Nvidia 3D Vision + 3Dmigoto + Bigscreen to play many games on a 3d virtual desktop with 3D depth with a little bit of setup.
Basically nvidia 3d vision renders games in 3D (or fakes it). 3Dmigoto those renderings to be converted to SBS (side-by-side) 3D as the nvidia drivers refuse to output it (despite it previously being an option and there even being ways to trick it into working interlaced 3D with EDID monitor hacks which is basically side by side and nvidia saying they where going to do something about it over a year ago. Probably because they are trying to sell some 3D crap). Then Bigscreen renders the SBS 3D onto a virtual screen with depth.
It worked fairly well for me with Abzu but not so much for Prey as things like declas and shadows where wrong (but nvidia 3D vision doesn't work too well with Prey mentioning similar issues).
Helixmods have preconfigured setups for heaps of games.
You need to:
Trick nvidia drivers into enabling 3D Vision by selecting the 'discover glasses' (red+blue style ones in the wizard). (NVIDIA Control Pannel>Stereoscopic 3D)
Edit the registry to turn off the red/blue color shift because you said you had those glasses. Also lock it down do it doesn't get set back by the nvidia drivers.
Dump the 3dmigoto files into the game folder (use pergame configs from helixmods if possible)
Make sure run = CustomShader3DVision2SBS is set in the dx11.cfg (if your doing your own config you might also want the StereoFlagsDX10 = 0x00004008 option)
Start up Big Screen
Start up game (you should see "Stero Disabled" down the bottom of the screen.
Hit Ctrl+T to enable 3D Vision
Hit F11 to toggle 3dmigoto view modes
Make sure the monitor in Bigscreen is in SBS mode.
3dmigoto could theoretically be avoided with a EDID hack and a 3D viewer that supports interleaved 3D (As opposed to SBS). But Bigscreen doesn't seem to. No clue about Virtual Desktop. Or nvidia could just enable the SBS option.
I have one question though:
I have an MSI laptop with a gtx 1070 but since it's optimus there are no 3d vision options, even with HDMI cable connected to HMZ-T1 so I'm left with Tridef as the only source of 3d gaming, even though 3d vision seems to install with the Nvidia dirvers just fine. Can I use 3dmigoto to force games to display in 3d vision SBS and use HMZ-T1 to play in 3d with a similar method?
