Hm... Just checked if I have KB2670838 installed, and it is, since November of 2014. But I still getting broken 3D if I enable vsync in nVidia control panel (I absolutely love vsync, and GTA5 is first game in many years I play without it :/). With vsync OFF it seems to run flawlessly (haven't had gaming session longer than hour, though). Also, I'm using latest driver with unmodified GTA5 profile and I have no single-eye text problem. It disappeared since I've tried to remove gta5.exe from GTA5 profile and then added it back (restoring default settings beforehand).
Guys, any of you have set Shader Quality to NORMAL? Do you have weird screen-depth fog effect? Settings SQ to NORMAL gives me +5-10 FPS without sacrificing any image quality (in my taste).
Thanks.

Regarding KB2670838, I have had it installed all along, so it hasn't done anything good for me.
One advantage of MP3 profile is it draws in-world markers correctly (the glowing yellow circles you have to stand on.) For me GTAV profile messes them up. Not a biggie, but I just did some races that have big markers, them being messed up is distracting and confusing since they guide you through a race. I assume MP3 would fix them too.
I like the theory that it might be card related. I see people complaining that they get low FPS, and I wish that was my only issue. Could be 9xx cards have some problem.
Got lucky just then and had a 55 minute game. What sucks is being halfway into a mission and having 3D fail or, worse, crash. The missions are so long and the saves so far apart, I keep having to repeat large parts of the game which sucks.
Games are typically still 5-25 minutes before 3D failure of some kind.

For those of you that have been having problems with 3d shutting off or GTA crashing, I've found a temporary solution. This is sort of a combination of posts from other users on this thread and others.
GTA V tries to modify the 3d depth settings sometimes in an unconventional way which causes the driver to crash. I think it sets the depth to 0 or something like that. This shouldn't be happening of course, and while we cant "fix" the problem directly, we can block GTA from being able to modify the registry.
The solution is part of a depth hack package by TsaebehT. It consists of two .bat files called "block" and "allow" which effectively modifies the registry permissions on nvidia driver stuff. You can get them here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/qw1buw1rlo7ejyk/3d_reg_permissions.zip?dl=0
1. Start game and make sure your settings are set the way you like them, both video settings and 3d convergence/depth settings.
2. Exit game
3. run "block.bat" with administrator privileges
4. Start game and enjoy!
5. when you exit the game, make sure to run "allow.bat" with administrative privileges.
You will have to allow it and block it every time you start and stop the game. Note that I still do get crashes on occasion but I'm not sure if those are because of 3d vision. Regardless, on average I get a couple hours without crashing. Before this fix, I used to crash every 0-30 min.

I posted the same solution (check page 8 of this thread), but it got completely ignored for some reason. I haven't had any issues with the 3d getting disabled since then but the game crashes fairly regularly with 3d enabled. At this point I've given up on playing in 3d until we get a proper patch from Rockstar, I'm tired of messing around with hacks and partial solutions.

I only tried it since it apparently gets Reshade working with GTA 5. I took a leap and created a restore point and went ahead and installed it. Now I have played more than 5 hours over a couple sessions and have not had a single issue. One time the game loaded and 3D looked weird but a simple decrease/increase of depth fixed that instantly.
I really wish the long-winded rants would disappear...
I confirm, it works perfectly now with the evil update for Windows 7 - KB2670838. Even with reshade/sweetFX :)

Well it's not the golden egg yet. 3D lasts longer but still breaks every time after 30-40 min of game. It's an improvement but :(

chtiblue, try what I posted a few posts up and see if 3d still gets disabled or broken. I'd be interested to see if that helps at all for those of you that tried the KB thing and still get disables or breaks.

I really wish there was a fix for the grass issue when set to Ultra with SLI systems. Performance is abysmal if I try to run the game with my current settings on a single card.

If you can roll back to an older driver, the grass works in SLI.

Doh - thought I had add my signature before. I tried modifying the .inf files of an older driver to add my cards but the installation failed. I think I might be stuck using newer drivers with the compatibility mode added in. I know one thing, I have purchased my last set of cards for SLI. Even if Witcher 3, without or without decent 3D, works better for it I am tired of all the SLI issues of late.
So does anyone have properly-rendered grass/foliage when grass is set to Ultra with SLI enabled? If so, I would like to know what driver set, card types, and any special tricks you may have done to make it work.

@bo3b Tried using ctrl-t but to no effect. Also changed to AFR 2 in the original GTA V profile, but that effected the graphics badly. That method might work better for DX10.1, but I'm happy with the increased number of graphical options available that running in DX11.0 provides.
Keep in mind that there is no SLI bits in GTAV profile for DX10. You can copy that from Max Payne 3 (0x42402405) but i am not sure how good that will perform - since even DX11 bits are different in both games.
I'll hold off tinkering any further for now, as I'm awaiting a reply from Rockstar asking if one of their technical advisers (TSA's) could pay us a visit here just to create a single new thread, if only for a limited time until most of the major issues are solved. It could be a while before I get a reply, but thanks all the same.
