I've just found out a very good way to play Dead Space 2 in 3D. Instead of using ofdr.exe, I'm using deadspace2.exe but I'm using 28% depth which is not really that bad. It's better 3D than most movies we see and I'm using medium convergence, I have Isaac poping out the screen, but without hurting my eyes. It looks gorgeous, amazing!!!!!!!!!!! The ofdr.exe is a good fix but the flicker issue is kind of annoying, but you can try to ignore it like I did playing like this for 3 hours. But I found out that I can live with 28% depth, it's not as flat as 15%, so it's playable for me. This game is all about convergence and pop out effects.

No it doesn't, as long as you've got the balance right. Don't play then, it's your loss. Unless EA or Visceral do a patch with 3d vision in mind then there won't be a 'fix'. Not that the game needs one.

Everyone has their personal preference on what depth and convergence they prefer and what is easier on their eyes. I prefer an insane amount of depth with a good amount of convergence to go along with it but then I think, because I cut my teeth on the old stereo 3D implementation that Edimensional had years ago, I have a higher level of tolerance for it. Maybe Nvidia will make Dead Space 2 work better in 3D than the original with a new set of drivers but I am not holding my breath. I am going to put this game on the back burner for a while since I have some other games I want to play first anyway.

The game would benefit massively from fixes. Stop implying it doesn't need them. You're wrong.

God this is so funny. Love how most people think its great, some think its ok, and some think its the worse game ever. Kinda makes you wonder how the range of enjoyablity can be so vast lol.
Its like when a game review comes out and IGN for example give it a 4/10 (40%) and PC Gamer give it an 85/100. I mean they both played the same game, sure one side may like it more then the other but the game can't be that far off on the scale from each other.
(NOTE: This was an example only)
Of course everyone is entitled to their opinion and you may actually think its the worst game ever in 3D and your not going to play it. But I think it looks really good in 3D and can understand if people think its amazing or good. But terrible and unplayable....then something is wrong with your setup or screen combination.
I have uploaded screenshots, and I have seen videos. If you think it looks so unplayable, lets see a screenshot of what your talking about.

I will wait for a profile in any case, I have lots of games that work fine in 3d and I'm not in a hurry to try dead space 2, though is fine to hear that it can be tweaked to be very playable in 3d.
Nvidia stop being lazy, we need profiles for two worlds 2, dead space 2, rift mmorpg and champions online f2p!!!!

A game is an experience and rarely is re-played. There are enough games to play, no need to play one in bad conditions. If the experience is good today, will be much better with a fix. The solution is a real fix, this game really need it.

Yep, driver's was the cause, big thanks. Should have thought of that myself, duurrrr.
I had the same problem installing the drivers. What I did was install the driver manually for the video card in Device manager, then I was able to run the .exe and it installed the rest of the PhysX and 3D driver stuff. Not sure if this is the best way, but it worked for me. Dead Space 2 looks amazing, I almost didn't buy reading some of these posts. With 20% depth and the blur/motion blur off though, as I said before, amazing. Thanks for all the tips guys. I'm loving this game so far.
Thanks for your help:
@Wesker11: Sorry I'm a bit of a noob with respect to driver issues. Would you mind to explain it stepwise in a bit more detail how you managed the installation. You mean with .exe the standard 266.58 package?
@Ritchie72: I actually don't need the USB emitter sofwore since I don't have the 3Dvision kit. I only use 3DTV play with my own Samsung 3DTV and glasses. Are you saying that the installation of the USB emitter driver triggers the rest of 266.58 driver installation? I could try to dowload the full CD package which includes the emitter driver and 266.58 sofware?
It's really annoying that I can't update to the newest drivers. To be honest I'm quite happy with the performance of the 260.99 drivers. Is there a way to install extra/updated game profiles separately without installing the whole NVIDA 266.58 package?

Dead Space 1 PC never got a single patch, not even to fix the mouse controls which were complained about on just about every gaming site. You'll be lucky if there's a patch for DS2, and if there is it almost definitely won't fix the S3D since it would involve reworking bits of the renderer and changing how the lighting is calculated. All you can hope is that nvidia can maybe improve things a little with their profile, but they didn't manage that for Dead Space 1.

Playing Dead Space 2 with 28% depth and medium convergence is really not that bad, it still way better than playing in 2D, agree?
I won't have time for Dead Space 2 when Crysis 2 comes out, so I must play it now. I don't really spend much time playing video games, so I must choose my games and Dead Space 2 is a must, and I don't play video games in 2D anymore, 2D is a no go for me, feels like playing old generation games. Once in 3D, there's no coming back.
I would definatelly agree that Medal of Honor was unplayable when it came out a few months ago, hopefully it's fixed now and playable.
Dead Space 2 has far better 3D suport than Medal of Honor had, and a less bugs in 3D than Mass Effect 2, so it's pretty playable. It has bugs, it needs to be fixed, it ain't perfect, but it looks awesome in 3D, pure showcase, if you think it's unplayble I'm pretty sure you got something wrong with your depth+convergence settings.
GTA IV had massive bugs in 3D and it was still playable, Dead Space 2 looks a lot better than GTA IV in 3D.
I've played COD Black Ops which has 3D ready support, with 60% depth and no convergence at all, cause If I increased convergence than it was, at least for me, impossible to aim right.
Dead Space 2 which has no 3D profile, convergence plays a big role and make to game look amazing, it's like you can touch those alien necromorphis creatures, you can see Issac's gun poping out the screen, feels alive, real, just gorgeous. I can really say Dead Space 1 and 2 besides having bugs, are far more impressive in 3D than Resident Evil 5 and Black Ops that were made for 3D.
It's not about the quality of the 3D support, but mainly the kind of game, and Dead Space 2 is a 3D showcase.

Here's what I did.
1. Run the 266.58.exe. Note where the .exe extracts the setup files to.
2. Go to Device Manager. Right click on your video card and click "Update Driver".
3. Now this will be different depending on your version of Windows, but basically you want to update Driver manually. Click "have disk" then browse to where the 266.58.exe extracted the files to.
Basically you should look for the folder "drivers", then whatever version of Windows you are using.
4. Click on the .ini and it should update your drivers.
5. Now reboot your computer and then run the 266.58.exe like normal. It should run and update everything else.
This is a pretty vague explanation. I'm not at my home computer and can't run through it to make sure my steps are correct. This is just off the top of my head. Let me know if you need more help, also include your version of Windows if you do.

A game is an experience and rarely is re-played. There are enough games to play, no need to play one in bad conditions. If the experience is good today, will be much better with a fix. The solution is a real fix, this game really need it.
Dead Space 1 PC never got a single patch, not even to fix the mouse controls which were complained about on just about every gaming site.

@Wesker11: Sorry I'm a bit of a noob with respect to driver issues. Would you mind to explain it stepwise in a bit more detail how you managed the installation. You mean with .exe the standard 266.58 package?
