DOOM3 + anaglyph red+cyan i resolved the problem

Patrol: thank you for your reply. TitaniumGL is nothing to do with this anaglyph hack. Please dont mistake the two project, TitaniumGL is an opengl to directx wrapper, its main goal to provide opengl support on computers where only D3D available. Its my fault that i mentioned in this topic, i think later i would create a new topic for it, or it would be probably a good idea to create a collective topic to TitaniumGL and keith's GLDirect.

photios: thank your for testing it on your verty strong computer also. This means i must suggest everybody who want to play Doom3 with my anaglyph hack, to play it on low resolutions, like 800x600, wich is ugly, but monster still comes out for your ass :D

Thanks again for the info, Photios. I have an old 17" 85Hz VGA CRT monitor but I only have the Nvidia 3D Vision shutter glasses. Would like to figure out which glasses I need before I get the 7900 GX. I dont know if I will be happy with anaglyph glasses. e-dimensional is on my list of glasses to check out. By the way, I have some old Nvidia cards too: 8800GTS and 5700LE. Neither of these will work?

Geri, I read on this forum, maybe it's not true, maybe I dont remember clearly,
... something about, any game which runs in dx9c and higher, can be made to work in Nvidia 3D vision. Is it true? I dont know.

8800 GTS won't work...that card is for 3D Vision. You need a 7 series on back. Your 5700 LE will work, but it'll be mediocre. But in low rez on your CRT, it might be fine. You want to get your monitor to 100 Hz minimum, if there is a rez on it that supports 100 hz. If it supports any rez at 100 hz, then you should be okay. If not, I'd probably try to get myself a DLP, if you really want the best of both worlds.

What about interlaced output. Would it run faster, then?
(unfortenately only useful on displays like my Zalman, thought)

I downloaded all 4 versions of TitaniumGL and tested opengl32.dll in Thief 1 (cd version), Amensia:Dark Descent (steam version), and Penumbra Overture (steam version).
All 3 games start fine on my GTX 580 with 266.58 drivers in windows 7 32bit without opengl32.dll
All 3 games run in 2D. But Nvidia 3D vision will not turn on.

Thief 1.
no change. no effect. Thief 1 works in 2D (but not 3D), as usual.

Amnesia:Dark Descent
Video Device: (without opengl32.dll ---> with opengl32.dll)
GeForce GTX 580/PCI/SSE2 ---> NVIDIA GeForce GTX 580/3034M VRAM/TitaniumGL/GAC/D3D A..... (text is off screen. cant read more)

game crashes (will not start).
Error message
Amensia.exe caused an EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION in module <UNKNOWN> at 001B:00000000

By the way, Amnesia:DD is an "OpenAL" game.

Penumbra:Overture

game crashes (will not start) with opengl32.dll

Error message

I am testing Doom 3 (steam version) right now with the anaglyph mod. 640x480 low quality. advanced options are off.
In the starting area, FPS is 1 to 5. Looking at the floor is 8-12fps.
gpu usage is 0-1%
cpu usage is high. one cpu core is at 90-100% usage.

seems that the low fps is cpu related, not gpu.
changed to Ultra quality. fps is the same.

Patrol: thank you for trying, i will check Amnesia: Dark Descent soon. BTW its not necessary to test with older versions. On 3Dvision support, i cant work without the necessary hardwares. I will create a new topic to TitaniumGL so this topic just will be the topic of this doom3d anaglyph hack.

There are many people on this forum who want to play openGL games 3D but Nvidia 3D vision does not support OpenGL games, as you may already know.

By the way, I also tested TitaniumGL in Doom3. The game plays but looks bad, as you know.
Unfortunately, 3D vision will not turn on. In Afterburner (gpu monitoring utility), it shows "OGL" and not "D3D9". In all my 3D vision games, afterburner shows "D3D9", "D3D10", or "D3D11"

I believe in order "to fool" or "to trick" Nvidia 3D vision into rendering a openGL game in 3D, it should be a 100% wrapper. OS should think the game is DX9c or higher. Just my thoughts.

I am looking forward to your other thread, Geri. Let's talk about Doom 3 and anaglyph here.

Partol: you experience the lagging of one of eyes comparing to the another eye, or the cursor is in 3d even if you not moving the mouse?

The mouse is lagging. Everything is lagging. Right now, your Doom3 anaglyph mod is not so useable.
cpu usage is very high. fps is too low.

Even a Intel Sandy Bridge at 5GHz will be too slow, I think.

Mouse does not need 3D rendering. Please try to optimize your DLL, if possible, to improve cpu performance.

I am very interested in Doom3 in 3D because I love "The Dark Mod" which turns Doom 3 into something which looks like Thief.
You and me both mate, it's a fantastic mod and I'd love to experience it in 3D.

Sorry for the necro-post, but I just want to clear something up about Thief 1 (and the other Dark Engine games, Thief & System Shock 2) - it's not OpenGL, all the Dark Engine games are dx7 I think. So these wrappers & 3D Vision won't recognise it at all. But the good news is apparently it runs fine and looks great in the old Nvidia stereo drivers. Thanks to photios for the info: http://www.mtbs3d.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?f=97&t=13015

Fingers crossed for a solution for Doom3/Dark Mod! /happy.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> It may be that the old Nvidia drivers may handle this too, I haven't tried it myself yet because my 'old' box is not currently built. But I gather from photios' comments that Doom 3 might be right on the edge of what a top-spec old-3D machine can handle, and the Dark Mod may be a bit more demanding than plain Doom3, so it might just be too much.

When I find time, I'll put together a dedicated old-3D PC with my 7900GTXs and try it out.
