Ya, i think this will be my last nvidia product... ill probably switch to ATI next time i upgrade. At least ATI doesnt mess around when they decide to release something.

well, this is the last day for them to release it, if they dont then they've broken the release date again, this is so irritating.

I would be amazed if this software was released today. Worst scenario would be if it didn't get released today and the staff made no attempt to explain. I'm patiently waiting for the release of 3dtv Play today. Hey Nvidia (Andrew), if it's not coming today, just break the news early, so I don't have to waste my time searching through the forums all day. Thanks.

Me to, I hear that ATI has a program that does the same think and it's not using the side by side method. http://www.amd.com/us/products/technologies/amd-hd3d/Pages/hd3d.aspx

I just registered to post my feelings about Nvidia. I am a long time customer with well over $4000 in nvidia products purchased in just the past two years. I have stuck with nvidia video cards since the 6800. I now own a GTX480. I will NOT be buying a GTX580 or any other Nvidia video cards. I also started with the 500series mother boards. I currently have a 790i, but I am upgrading to the x58 classified this week. I was also one of the first to own and review the 3D vision kit with the Samsung monitor. Unfortunately my monitor died just sfter a year so I sold the glasses to a friend. My thought was 22" was WAY too small so I would buy a 3D HDTV and wait for 3DTV PLAY. I even purchased the GTX 480 in hopes of using it for this. My 3D TV is basically an overpriced regular HDTV because I am yet to game on it. I do watch 3D BDs from ther PS3, but I refuse to play games run on the PS3. Nvidia has consistantly promised, underdelivered and done so late. The WORST part is the SERIOUS lack of communication. If 3DTV Play is not released today, expect a nice article to be posted on our blog today. I will not give out our website, but it is well known by very high end hardware builders and enthusiasts. We were the reason Dell decided to upgrade the XPS700 with free motherboards a couple years ago. It may not mean much to Nvidia, but I am sure the hundreds of highend builders would like to read up on the poor business practices we are suffering from. Of course, many of them swore off Nvidia quite a while ago.

I would love to be proven wrong. If Nvidia does release 3DTV PLAY today, my article will be VERY different. Given the time of day, the pattern of promise and fail, and the general lack of concern for their customers, I doubt that article will ever be written.

Don't expect much from Andrew. I think he is just a puppet and finds out a day or so before us consumers. Its not his fault that nvidia use him like this. If it comes out tomorrow then credit where credit is due but if it does not don't expect to hear a word because they lack basic customer service skill.

Why wait for 3DTV Play, you can play in 3D now, if you have a Samsung HDTV and the nVidia 3d vision emitter:

Damn, it's true, I can run my new Series 7 Samsung Plasma in 1920x1080 @ 60Hz in Page-Flipping mode in 3D. This effectively is 30Hz per eye, so recognizably better than the 1920x1080 @ 24Hz frame packing mode.

Beside the mandatory 3D frame packing formats, the Samsung HDMI 1.4 HDTVs also support a bunch of optional 3D mode, like interlaced, checkerboard and page flipping (called Frequency in the manual).

Best is, like with the 24Hz stereo the TV multi-flashes the frames to produce 120Hz, so no flicker at all.

You need the nVidia 3D vision emitter and a pre 260.xx driver to get access to the optional modes, as the new 260.xx drivers with beta 3DTV Play only offer the 2 frame packing modes 720p@60Hz and 1080p@24Hz when it detects a known HDMI 1.4 capable device (and only 3D bluray playback for unknown HDMI 1.4 devices).

Now you can use either "Generic checkerboard" for 1080p@60Hz checkerboard format or "Generic CRT" for 1080p@60Hz page flipping (= effective 30 FPS per eye) in the nvidia control panel stereoscopic settings. Please note that the nVidia 3D vision emitter is just used as a dongle to get access to the 3D settings, the HDTVs emitter and glasses must be used.
The HDTV does not switch automatically to 3D, you must manually switch to 3D and select the appropriate mode (Checkerboard or Frequency).

After trying a little I found the 1080p@60Hz checkerboard format to be my favorite, followed by the 1080p page flipping format. Still 60 Hz per eye is a big difference to 30 Hz per eye. But it really depends on the game type.

And yes, I can play Black Ops in perfect 3D now without the 3DTV Play beta frame packing bugs.

I don't want to buy the 3D Vision again. I want the $30 3DTV PLAY as advertised when I purchased my video card.

Hey guys, please don't blame Nvidia as they only made a typo mistake.

3DTV Play is coming in mid-late Nov 2020,

when Naked-eye 3D TV becomes popular.

There will be no business conflict by selling the software alone and their 3D Vision Kit together.

Nvidia, please correct the typo to finish our wait.
