I just played the SteamVR - robot repair demo in 3D Vision.
It's my first experience with a VR demo.
Don't have a VR headset, so I used 3D Vision instead.
The demo is flawless in 3D (except for some flicker at the end which affects both 2D and 3D).
Before anyone mentions it. Yes, I'm aware that Source engine games usually have simple graphics and future VR games will have more advanced graphics. But still, it's quiet rare these days to see a new game (or game demo), which has flawless 3D and seems to have no driver optimization nor does it require the user to do anything except run the game and turn on 3D Vision and wear the glasses.
Although I currently have no plans to buy a VR headset, I hope to play some "VR Ready" games, in 3D vision.
I recorded a 3D video and uploaded it to youtube, but can't figure out how to view it in stereo-3D.
any ideas (other than installing old drivers and old FireFox)?

Robot repair demo is free on steam (in Tools). It's called "SteamVR Performance Test".
After it's downloaded,
right click on "SteamVR Performance Test" --> Properties
click on "set launch options" and copy/paste this text
-noassert -retail -vrperftest -autofidelity +map vr_aperture_main -novr -fullscreen -height 1080 -width 1920
change height/width if you want other resolution.

I was able to give it a try, I had to increase Convergence a bit to get it to look good but as far as I could tell everything looks perfect... not sure if it's using Source or not, but that could be why it looks so good in 3D Vision.

That one is using Source. It's the only Valve VR demo that does. Every other demo they've shown is using Unity 3D.
Speaking of Unity 3D, if any of you guys watched the Unity Vision Summit presentation by Joe Ludwig (Valve), you'll see that as part of the VR optimizations Valve has made to the Unity engine (and will be made available for free on the Unity store), they've written an entirely new shader that replaces many of the standard Unity shaders.
These are part of their Unity VR fixes that should be going live next month (or so).

Man ... so I just tried this out and it's pretty much flawless once you adjust convergence...
At this point I will take any hope I can...

Unfortunately I think this particular demo is the exception, not the rule - we've tried plenty of other VR enabled games and this is the first time one has been 3D Vision Ready out of the box. This is possibly a good sign for Source 2 and 3D Vision, but I'll wait until I see a full game using it that works well with 3D Vision before getting my hopes up.
