3d vision is certainly amazing (@ about 75 depth and strength; 100 is too much for me), and 3D surround is out of this world. the biggest problem is crosshair; shooting wolves in slow motion is ok, but it's very unpleasant (unplayable) to hunt regular deers and thugs. with 3D surround, the hyped TressFx doesn't render correctly, just a mess of blur around Lara's head~ check the effect with my 2560x1600 580SLI rig, needs to disable High Precision to ensure the game run and see the hair. the effect is nice, though too clean, compared to every other part of Lara. will Lara's hair kill Nvidia for AMD? seriously though, I grow tired of seeing AMD gaming evolved logo when booting up almost every high profile game nowadays. AMD exclusive effect just makes things even worse.

I think I know a lame solution for people with crosshair issues is to use a macro to turn off 3D when holding right mouse click. Assign TURN ON/OFF STEREOSCOPIC 3D EFFECT TO -> . (PERIOD) Then just use this file. http://3dvision-blog.com/wp-content/files/3dcrosshairfix.zip Just extract alc.exe and launch it before starting game... Again its super lame and tbh crosshair is not bothering me.

I'm just not happy with Nvidia's support of their niche tech; I've been happily gaming with 3D surround, mostly thanks to helix and people from widescreen forum, and Nvidia have been doing themselves disservice for a long time, now just getting worst as AMD being aggressive.

Im dealing with 2d crosshair just fine. Using shotgun since it doesnt require much accuracy most of the time

Hi, yes there is a reg key.
I am a sucker for high convergence :)

[HKEY_CURRENT_USERS;Software;Crystal Dynamics;Tomb Raider;Graphics]
"StereoStrength"=hex:02,00,00,40

This value is according to my calculations... about 150% 3D strenght.
I still havent found the sweet spot for me but I think it might be 130%
Here, change the values on the regkey if you want to try

105% "StereoStrength"=hex:CD,CC,8C,3F

I'm loving the experience so far with the 3D on my HMZ-T2.. this is the first game that really makes me go WOW since I just got the T2 a month ago. Plus being forced to play in 720p means I can max out everything else including TessFX and all I'm running is OCd SLI 570. The 2D crosshair is a big problem though.. my style of playing relies heavily on the bow/arrows and it's extremely hard to aim right now!! I hope they release a patch with a 3D crosshair soon!

The thing I love about the HMZ is that since each eye sees its own screen using maximum convergence and beyond doesn't hurt my eyes at all! On the other hand it's very hard to get the whole screen in perfect focus and it's hard to find a spot where you can comfortably wear it for long. As for people saying AMD will kill Nvidia humm.. I don't know if AMD people are getting much better Hair or something but the TessFX looks very smooth and normal on my SLI 570s and I'm not sure AMD users have much advantage.. it may be a little better optimized on theirs but as long as you have good enough cards I don't think it makes a difference what brand GPUs you've got.. thankfully! I'd hate to see AMD-only features.. the developers that do these kind of exclusivity features are really asking to piss off half their customers.

Eh? He basically said amd MAY have advantage but he doesnt care since he has good performance. 720P in 3D is quite similiar in performance required as 1080P in 2D. And if hes got high fps/performance on high settings on two 570's thats still impressive. SLI 570'S and being able to run at 4XSSAA/SSAO ULTRA is pretty insane. Big title "exclusives" doesnt mean much e if even as an AMD title at max setting you have better performance then a nvidia title like max payne 3, borderlands 2[In physx heavy scenes]. I bet most people have better performance on this Tomb Raider then either of those.

I tried running it in 1080p with everything maxed and it was very sluggish. Then I did some reading and concluded that DOF is very taxing and does not improve graphics experience (I agree after disabling it, I actually prefer it off). Turning off DOF helped but the TessFX was still very taxing. Also was getting crashes during cut scenes so I read about that, people saying turn off tesselation, or roll back to WHQL 310.90 drivers. Then I saw someone mention reason for crash is simply because DX11 games very hard on GPU and GPU does not have good voltage overclock. So I followed a guide and did something I honestly should have done long time ago! I overclocked voltage and clocks quite a bit and wow what a difference it makes! Ran 3dmark to make sure it was stable enough. Been playing TR for hours now and cards hardly get hot at all. I'm able to play 1080p 2xSSAA DOF off everything else maxed and FPS is decent but it gets crazy with big firefights. So I chose to disable TessFX as it's a bit too much on 1080. On 720 runs perfect though. This morning I thought I was going to want to upgrade to 670s or maybe 1x Titan.. but now thanks to learning how easy and powerful overclocking is.. I can hold off until 7xx series or maybe even maxwell in 2014. Btw.. used to love AMD.. but I love S3D also and I felt I had no choice but to switch to Nvidia 2 years ago because of superiority of 3D Vision compatibility in games. I don't know if AMD has caught up in the S3D support now, I know they have "equivalent" (finally!) but I understand it still lags behind 3D Vision.. Best 3D support will be deciding factor for my next GPU upgrade.. at this point pretty sure will stay with Nvidia.

Why would you ever use DOF when playing in in 3D? Your eyes creat natural DOF via focusing on a single object (making all other objects at different depths out of focus). DOF can be great for getting that camera focus effect in 2D, and makes it look more like a film, but in 3D just unrealistically restricts what you can focus on, meaning you have to use your mouse to reposition the camera and therefore your field of view. Effects like DOF and motion blur should all be turned off instantly when playing in 3D. Really looking forward to playing this when the cross hair is fixed.
