I'm in no rush, but will an improved profile come out for Dragon Age 2?

I'm in no rush, but will an improved profile come out for Dragon Age 2 that gives it a proper rating like fair, good, etc. Even if it takes weeks or months I'd be willing to wait. Any feedback?

Being able to control convergence was important in Dragon Age Origins so I'm thinking it should be the same for Dragon Age 2 right? I played Dragon Age Origins with high convergence and 15-20% depth and it was very satisfying.

I hope so. I want so bad to play this game in 3D. DA:O was incredible in 3D.

the latest beta update gives da2 a 'not recommended', and I can understand why, lots of problems, many objects that render at the wrong depth, halos around fire, sky at wrong depth, glitches here and there. I just left the valley at the beginning and reached the city, and there's some terrible 3d with the floor giving me more wrong depth problems and some kind of tearing. Also 3d and dx11 gives really bad performance, mostly in the cutscenes.
On the other hand, I can change the convergence just fine, I don't know why you can't.

All in all, as a big dao fan, I'm really dissapointed with the 3d performance, I don't like the new narrative style where the dwarf explains the story, just let the story flow. Now the changes in combat, interface, etc has taken lots of depth out of the game, the graphics haven't improved much but instead have broken the s3d. The game is good but I always expect the best from Bioware and DA2 has taken several step backwards for no good reason, maybe EA has something to do with it.

Seriously, this seems to be an AMD " Gaming evolved" " HD 3D" title. Laugh if you want, this is how it goes.

Well if amd finally gets a better 3d solution and nvidia keeps with their non-existing 3d vision support, I'm getting an amd card in no time, I'm tired of not playing games on release date (two worlds 2, rift, dead space 2, bulletstorm, are just a few of the more recent titles) . It's really so absurd to be the first to have the technology on the market and now that 3d is all the rage, let amd / sony / nintendo get the lead... /thumbsdown.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> There're are so many people that don't even know that 3d vision exist

On all accounts, I agree with you 100%. I am seeing the same exact thing and it's a shame because...

I totally disagree with you here! The game is a blast to play! The graphics are clearly the best that Bioware has ever done in a game and it shows. DA:O was nothing but a mush of red colors. This game has much better detail (that first Orge is incredibly detailed) and with the 3D, it looks incredible. Given that the 3D is broken on a lot of things in the game, definitely makes me want to wait for a fix because this game would be incredibly beautiful if it worked right.

Combat is much better IMO. I love the fast pace. I like the way the story has been approached and the interface is 10X better.

Mass Effect 2, unreal engine 3, is by far the best graphics Bioware has ever produced, maybe even the best rpg graphics ever, it looks a million times better than DA2. Other than that, it's a matter of taste on rpgs, imo they have tried to do Mass Effect with swords and failed miserably, but still it's a good game.

ME2 is pretty because it's got a cartoony look to it (a lot of varying colors). The superior part of ME2 is the character faces in the FMV sequences (which are highly detailed), unfortunately normal gameplay isn't anywhere near as artistically detailed as DA2 IMO. The textures in ME2 are simple not requiring many layers as opposed to DA2 using high detail to achieve realistic terrain. I can't think of any enemy in normal gameplay in ME2 that can touch the detail of the Orge in DA2. Moreover, I can't think of any FX in ME2 that can match the spell affects in DA2. Finally someone painted GOOD fire textures in an RPG! The blood is VERY nice in DA2 as well. Highly specular and responding to light interaction giving a very compelling wet appearance as opposed to a mesh of red transparent sprites like most games.

All in all, I disagree. Having played every Bioware game to date - DA2 is the best graphically.

Dragon Age II will likely need some help from the developer, so please feel free to reach out to them and request some fixes for 3D Vision support.

Thanks for stepping in about this Andrew.

A few questions:

1) Did DA:Origins need to be modified by the developer or did you guys handle the code in-house? The reason I ask is because this will directly affect whether or not the Bioware team will even allocate resources to solve some of the rendering issues in stereo.

2) How much could Nvidia do to the codebase to at least bring the status from "Not recommended" to "Fair" or "Good" status? Even if the 3DS isn't the best rated, it can oftentimes be good enough to play through.

3) Can Nvidia alleviate *any* of the current problems with S3D now and put out a patch profile for the game?

Thanks,

Hi

All I can say is that we need Bioware's help since it will requires developer changes in the game as well as a publisher releasing a patch.

Its really not bad. Aside from occasional flicker maybe happens in one scene every 5 minutes of cinematics. I play at 75% depth medium-high convergence.

OK. I'll see if my contacts can get a hold of Andreas and see if those guys are working on a patch for 3DS.

I haven't gotten the game yet but what about the games INI file? Has anyone taken a crack at it to fix problems in game for 3d vision?

All I know so far is that you have to run the game on "high" instead of "very high" until they fix the frame rate issue.

There is a fix in the new beta driver for the black graphics tearing issue, which is nice. However, I saw this issue back last summer when I tried Dragon Age 2 for the first time, and it strikes me as odd that it has not been fixed until now.

Yesterday was the first time I got to try 3d vision on dragon age two, and I am really sad about all these issues the game has, cause when you are running around in Kirkwall city the game world really does look AMAZING in 3d.

One of the biggest issues for me is that dialogues does not work well in 3d, especially the close up face views and the dialogue choice selection interface, and this is a deal breaker in a game like DA2.

I am running the PC game with "High" graphics settings, on a GTX 480 card.

I may not have the newest Dragon Age 2 3d vision profile, I am going to get my hands on that and try it out. But as a previous poster said, it looks like the developers of the game has to take part in this if we want it fixed.
