pjd6211 setup on windows 7 x64 help Q & A GUIDE TO THE PJD6211 SETUP ON X64 WINDOWS 7
SPECS :
os - windows 7 x64
video card - 8800gt
video drivers - 257.21

STATUS:
When using oem vga cable = monitor is detected as pjd6211
non vga oem cable - monitor is detected as generic pnp or generic non pnp monitor
3DVISON wizard - 3d-ready device not detected message.
no crt option in 257.21 drivers.
VIEWSONIC.COM WEBSITE PJD6211 DOWNLODS PAGE :
Standard_Monitor_Driver_Unsigned x64 (WINXP) - these drivers fail to install in win 7 x64 (6211 is not even listed)
PJD6211_Firmware_v1.47 - what is this firmware for ? (the included files don't say and does not even tell u how to check your firmware version)

QUESTIONS:
can anyone solve the above scenario with a mini install guide for pjd6211 owners ?
can anyone clarify some of the mysteries above like what's the 1.47 firmware for etc. ?
should we use older drivers and loose functionality like 3d blue-ray support?

As far as the VGA cable goes. You have to either use the OEM cable that came with it or purchase a really nice XGA VGA cable. I got a really nice 25ft one from CDW for around $30. I had this exact issue and couldnt figure it out. Actaully, I couldnt find it right off hand but I do have a thread on here about this issue that has a link to the cbale I got.

With the firmware, these are updates for the projector itself. Only problem I have with mine is no way to update the thing! THe web update fails and the application they give to use only works in XP 32bit... Such fail.

3d vision wizard still does not detect my monitor even when I use the viewsonic vga cable. windows and nividia control panel both do.
are any of you guys using win 7 x64 with the pjd6211, can you tell me what nvidia driver you're using ?

Oh I forget to mention. I don't have the 3d vision ir emitter I am using the 3d vision discovery set for my testing, could that be the problem?

Seems like you still might have an issue with something else maybe. I have the PJD6220 and running Win 7 x64. If I dont have the emitter plugged in, it automaticlly picks Discover 3D.

Why is this so difficult to setup?
I have tried the 185, 190, 196.21, 257.21, 258.96 nvidia drivers they all don't detect the pjd6211,
I have tried using the original vga cable and others, even after having win7 64bit detect the device properly and allow for it to run in 1024x768@120
the 3d vision wizard still does not detect projector.
I have disabled my dual monitor setup, uninstall my extra monitor, set the pjd6211 as only monitor and boot my system with it and still 3dvision wizard does not detect it.
Is there anyway to bypass the wizard and enable 3dvision? (whenever i try to do this the wizard launches).
can anyone with a pjd6211 tell me what os and driver version they are using so i can try replicating it?

my next attempt will be virtual box environment with xp, just need to find one that supports nvidia drivers.

Ok this is going to get long :-( and i rilly dont have the time right now but you need to update the firmware on the projector you need a win XP 32 bit machine to do it .....next thing is I bought a 50ft VGA cable from tigerdirect it works flawlessly. this particular projector was'nt even supported by Nvidia until like 3 driver releases before 1.33 CD so if your trying to use outa the box 3D vision drivers your beating a dead horse ....it took me 3 days to get mine working a few months ago . And to my surprise even though the advertising said 3D ready the 6211 wasnt even supported until like a week before i bought it heh it was out almost a year with the 3D ready advertising on it !! i guess i was one of the lucky ones who bought it and found they had just released support for it well hope this helps ...oh but it was so new i couldnt play WoW in 3D because i couldnt revert to the old drivers that worked but they fixed WoW now so all is good mines working great !

thanks, but can you tell me what os and video drivers you are using?
i am going to try virtualization to run xp and do the firmware update. I did not before because viewsonic site does not state what changes the firmware makes. I don't want to mess with firmware thats not going to solve anything related to 3dvision detection.

thanks for all the help. but problems with the firmware update now. it keeps saying error can't open usb driver.
lol i give up
in device manger the device is connected as usb composite device. i can remove and connect the cable and see the device removed and re-added to device manager. but in the flash software it keeps giving the (error can't open usb device)
factory defaulted the pjd6211 and checked the 3d sync option, still no luck (pain) :(
RMA time i think. ( I will try one last thing this week - install on another pc)

how do you think you will activate nvidia pageflip mode without the emitter connected ?
it wont say your display name in stereoscopic panel unless you have the emitter connected, othrwise it will always say "3d vision discover"

Problem solved. it appears the ir emitter and 3d vision wizard were the trouble makers. Once i got the newest ir emitter drivers from the 1.33 cd.
The 258.96 driver 3dvision wizard recognized the emitter and the pjd6211. I used the oem vga cable during the setup but switched to my 15ft generic vga cable after wtth no problems. no need to buy that cable at cnow for 30 bucks. :)

I still have not gotten 3d blueray playback working with cloudy, arcsoft and anydvd hd combo as yet, but I am sure I will figure it out.
youtube3d still got that to sort out also.

Things I have learned along the way
1. tech support, both from nvidia and viewsonic (more so viewsonic) is very sad and you will get a lot more help reading the forums.
2. trying to test your display without the ir emitter is a no no, the 3d wizard will not even acknowledge your display's readiness. (the heart of my 2 week setup nightmare)
3. 3d gaming and video playback only works in full screen mode.
4. without the oem vga cable you will get problems setting up the wizard as it switches your display to 120hz upon running (which blanks your screen if your pjd6211 is detected as generic non pnp device) and you can't continue the wizard.
5. if you are not into 3d gaming then 3dvision may not be worth your 200 bucks at this time, due to limited full length 3d movie availability.
6. 3d vision discover is useless.
7. I still have not had my imax experience in 3dvision yet and that may be because I have not found that immersive content as yet or its just not imax. :(
