Lack of driver forced Ambient Occlusion making me cry
  1 / 2
I made a thread about this some time ago, and see its normal that in games that don't natively support AO it will activate in 2D but not 3D. Well I started up Skyrim in 3D and first thing I noticed was how many billion times better AO makes the game. Surely there must be a way around it, to get AO working in 3D. Anyone got any ideas? Thanks.

Do as I do:) get the ENBseries for Skyrim. tweak it to your likings add it as a proxy lib in Helixmod if you use it. Enable SSIL SSAO in the config file One thing to note: it will highly impact your fps so if you play it in 3D surround based on your config you might lower the res a bit:) Hope it helps

I did try the ENB AO but it seemed to break shadows and still not activate 3D. Maybe I did something wrong?

I can confirm AO makes a huge difference for Skyrim. I am guessing this only effect 3DTV Play users and not 3D Vision users, like with forced AA not working?

Im too lazy to reinstall skyrim. I mentioned before it might be profile based, if you want to try go for it. I dont think libertine is using the standard skyrim profile. So it would make sense.

I am a 3D Vision user and it affects me also. I have submitted the bug a couple times but never got an answer. As for ENB, it will work but you have to load Helixmod first and load ENB through the proxy feature. This was the main reason why I am using ENB, for the AO. I also use it to make nights and dungeons darker as well as some other features. It takes a lot of patience to make ENB look the way you want it to but is worth it in the end. I had posted my config for it before but had same a$$hole give me grief in a PM that it "broke" his game so you are on your own if you decide to try it.

Just post it here. Ive had people write helixmod broke OS, Video card, game, etc. Seriously, even if it did "break" a game. Just reinstall before going to bed.

To clarify, i have only gotten AO to work in 2D, with 3D disabled in the control panel, back when using the default profile.

I think it's no longer supported, but Nhancer used to let you edit Nvidias preset game profiles. Haha, maybe you can install Nvidias "optomize"/"geforce experience" software and hack it, so it uses your profile/presets. edit: what about Nvidia inspector, I've never used it, but as I recall it was a lot like Nhancer.

@D-man11 Same as nhancer pretty much. Prob easier. I had to write a guide for it at one point but its not needed now. http://helixmod.blogspot.com/2012/12/farcry-3-shadowslighting-fix-for-sli_24.html Alot of the stuff I post on helixmod site needs renames/nvidia inspector. Devil May Cry 4, borderlands 2, black mesa, singularity. At one point Helix's mass effect 3/kingdom of amalur. Friggin sux.

Anyone figure anything out? Forcing it in Oblivion and Mass Effect and seeing the difference adds to the pain.

Would love to see support for this as well. Have you asked technical support yet if it is supposed to be supported?

Nvidia tech support is totally worthless but I suppose it can't hurt to ask. I'll send them a message and see what I get back.

"Hello, Thank you for contacting NVIDIA Customer Care. This is Karthik, assisting you in troubleshooting the issue you are experiencing. I understand that you have an NVIDIA 3D Vision 2 setup & you are experiencing issues with the feature Ambient Occlusion disabling in 3D mode. Firstly, I apologize for the inconvenience caused to you. This is a strange issue & was not reported earlier. Please give me some time while I check this further with our setup here & see if this is normal behavior or issue with the other end/drivers. Please give me about 24 hours time so that I can thoroughly test this with different drivers & try to get a work around. I thank you for your time in advance.
