Cannot enable 3D Vision on GTX 690 in Surround mode
I am super-excited to try out my GTX 690, but I can't enabled 3D Vision :( 310.70 drivers, GTX 690 installed today, 5760x1080 nVidia surround for desktop using three ASUS 23" monitors. I uninstalled drivers, ran driver sweeper in safe mode, and then installed 310.70 drivers after rebooting. I click on the "Enable stereoscopic 3D" checkbox and wait several seconds. I notice a minimized "GeForce 3D Vision Setup Wizard" window in my taskbar, but then it crashes and the checkbox never checks. I get the following 2 events from my Event Log: Event ID: 1000 Error Faulting application name: nvstwiz.exe, version: 7.17.13.1070, time stamp: 0x50b989b3 Faulting module name: nvwgf2um.dll, version: 9.18.13.1070, time stamp: 0x50b9768b Exception code: 0xc0000005 Fault offset: 0x000f5ddf Faulting process id: 0x249c Faulting application start time: 0x01cdd40fefe0a780 Faulting application path: C:\Program Files (x86)\NVIDIA Corporation\3D Vision\nvstwiz.exe Faulting module path: C:\Windows\system32\nvwgf2um.dll Report Id: 2eeeafdc-4003-11e2-a76e-0026833234c0 ----- Event ID: 1001 Information Fault bucket 3289395892, type 1 Event Name: APPCRASH Response: Not available Cab Id: 0 Problem signature: P1: nvstwiz.exe P2: 7.17.13.1070 P3: 50b989b3 P4: nvwgf2um.dll P5: 9.18.13.1070 P6: 50b9768b P7: c0000005 P8: 000f5ddf P9: P10: Analysis symbol: Rechecking for solution: 0 Report Id: 2eeeafdc-4003-11e2-a76e-0026833234c0 Report Status: 0

I'm afraid I can't really help but I'm running a GTX690 with 3d vision surround and I haven't had those problems with any driver. Are you able to enable 120Hz on all monitors, and have you tried enabling 3d vision with just one monitor set up, rather than a spanned display? Even with SLI disabled? Are the displays all connected via dual-link DVI?

If not, back to basics.. Have you run a chkdsk or tried reinstalling the drivers over the top agsin? For what it's worth, I (personally) don't believe driversweeper really has any place in all of this, I think the windows installer is robust enough now. Also, is the emitter driver installed properly? Do you have a dark green light on it?

Alright, I tried the newest 310.70 WHQL drivers but with the same result. I went to safe mode and uninstalled the drivers completely without driversweeper, rebooted in safe mode and reinstalled. No problems were found with a scandisk (it's an SSD). The emitter driver shows a dark green light. I also cannot run dxdiag - it crashes on stage 2 with the following errors:
Faulting application name: dxdiag.exe, version: 6.1.7600.16385, time stamp: 0x4a5bc310 Faulting module name: nvwgf2um.dll, version: 9.18.13.1070, time stamp: 0x50b9768b Exception code: 0xc0000005 Fault offset: 0x000f5ddf Faulting process id: 0x10a4 Faulting application start time: 0x01cddefc0f77cdb2 Faulting application path: C:\Windows\SysWOW64\dxdiag.exe Faulting module path: C:\Windows\SysWOW64\nvwgf2um.dll Report Id: 4f3b1ec0-4aef-11e2-8613-0026833234c0

Fault bucket 3289895072, type 1 Event Name: APPCRASH Response: Not available Cab Id: 0 Problem signature: P1: dxdiag.exe P2: 6.1.7600.16385 P3: 4a5bc310 P4: nvwgf2um.dll P5: 9.18.13.1070 P6: 50b9768b P7: c0000005 P8: 000f5ddf P9: P10: ... I wouldn't install drivers in safe mode, as not all windows components are active so they probably won't install properly. Safe mode is good for uninstalling software though. Are your monitors definitely 3d vision certified? You could try reinstalling direct x to fix the dxdiag issue. Does the card work properly in games without using 3d? You could speak to Nvidia tech support, but you might have in issue with your windows install.

Yes, everything worked fine in 3D with my 2 x 470 SLI setup. You'd think a driver sweep would be all that's needed to get everything working again. Right now, I can't get 3D to work and I can't get MechWarrior Online to launch at all. Also, dxdiag doesn't work, so the MWO guys say it's the driver. I'm stuck.

Looks like you've already tried all the things we would have suggested in order to get a clean install of the drivers, only thing that leaves is corrupt OS Registries. Best thing to do would be to get a fresh install of the OS at this point.

For reference, I upgraded from sli Gtx 470 as well, and I had to do a clean install of the nvidia drivers to get the card working originally. Personally I'd never use driversweeper, it almost has a loyal following to to its status in 'Internet lore' but I've upgraded cards many times and the nvidia installer is fine these days.
