Hello,
first of, sorry for the uninformative title but as I have several questions i wasn't able to really narrow it down.
Also, english isn't my first language so sorry for any strange or whatnot formed sentences.
So, these days I got myself a new tv. I went up and down the stores, internet and everything to get the best device for the best offer with... (and so forth).
I ended uop with a decently sized Toshiba. I returned home, installed the TV, set up everything. Happyness ensued as I really enjoyed (and am enjoying) my new tv.
Then, a few days ago I tried Crysis 2 in stereo. 3D and it was amazing. Suddenly I found a lot of whole new possibilities with my new tv. Until I actually checked the nvidia homepage.
Of course, my tv was not listed as supported.
So everything gets down to this one very problem. Why not? Why can't I use my tv with the drivers.
I checked the list of supported tvs and none of them was in my closer selection, mostly due to my financial possibilities and my personal wish for the size of the tv.
So basically, is there any way for me to enjoy 3d TV Play? I'll hapopily pay for the software but the trial does not recognize my tv.

It's rumoured nVidia may be bringing back a mode that allows for 3d on any display capable of it (certification not required), via "crt mode". You could probably use that. Older drivers supported it too, so you may be able to try those in the meantime - though you may experience issues with newer games.

Good thing with the crt mode, but as far as I found on the internet, it still requires any form of the 3d vision set, but I'll definitly keep an eye out on that.
Seems like the 3D TV Play option is only available on supported tvs, so right now to me it seems like "bad luck" my tv isn't on the list.
Maybe and hopefully one day nVidia adds my tv to their supported-list.
On another note if any one else is in the same situation as I am:
I searched around the web for alternative solutions and stumbled upon TriDef 3D, a software offering what I believe to be the same as the nVidia 3D does. There's a supported list of devices but, unlike nVidia they also offer a "generic device" setting. Which works perfectly fine.
Additional information:
I have a GTX 570, 8Gb RAM and an i7 at 4Ghz.
I tried it with Skyrim and it looks great and works well, but it comes with quite an impact on the hardware, though. Skyrim runs perfectly smooth at any time with everything max. setting and high-res texture pack installed, but drops to around 15 fps with the 3D activated. Again, fine if I lower the resolution to 1280x720.
Maybe helpfull to someone.
Anyway, thanks for your quick answers. As said, I'll keep an eye out for changes with driver or rather a "general" tv mode.

What most of us have done in this case is download and install an 'EDID override' .inf file for our TV. This is done manually in device manager/monitor/driver, more then likely the current 'driver' is a 'Generic'. Replacing the 'generic' with a .inf file that is supported will enable 3D for 3DPlay.
3D over HDMI generally comes in 3 flavors: 1280x720-60Hz, 1920x1080i-24Hz (we used to get 30Hz) and somewhat rarely 1920x1080-60Hz 'checkerboard' mode.

Try the newest drivers. According to an Nvidia employee, they've changed their detection and enabling for 3D HDTVs and Projectors that are HDMI 1.4 and work with 3DTV Play.

Hello. I'm about to purchase a JVC X55, the newest model of JVCs 3D Projector line. I see support listed on the "3DTV System Requirements" page for the X30, X70, and X90. Today's line-up from the JVC Procision Series now includes the DLA-X55R. Is this Projector presently supported? Thank you for your help![/quote]
Hi,
We changed our software algorithm in our current drivers(313.96 or newer) so it should detect most 3D compatible TVs, receivers,HMDs, and projectors in the market. However in case it doesn't, you may want to report it to our engineering team. Here's an article regarding this.

Interessting, thanks for telling me D-Mann11.
I've checked and done everything as in this. Installed the newest driver, didn't help.
A thing though that came to my mind. I'm using a surround sound system, Pioneer vx-520 something. This system is supported and listed, so it eluded me at first. Gonna try and plug the TV direktly, just to try it. Would still need to find a work around though, since without the 5.1 there would me something missing ^^
I'll report.

Okay, directly connecting didn't work.
mbloof, I tried your EDID override but it didn't work either.
Just so I get this right, I take a .inf of a tv model that is listed as supported and install that as driver for my (indeed, generic) pnp-monitor?
If yes, done that but did not help me.
Edit: Stupid me. I tried several inf and now it apparently does work. Something was found and the driver initialized as far as I can tell.
Aparently I am to stuipid to get games running with a 3d effect. My tv now mentions a 3d signal, sometimes my pc monitor even has stereo view (horizontally split) but no 3d effect on my tv.

what model is your TV? Crysis 2 worked because it has "native" stereoscopic support, it's built into the game. But for games without built in support, you need 3DTV Play. 3DTV is suppose to just work now, but it seems that it unfortunately does not.
Some TVs require that you use a specific HDMI input. Some require that you rename the PC input to PC or Game or...
You might try sending in your EDID by following the link as suggested above

Your TV is new and supports HDMI 1.4 right? Older TVs that were HDMI 1.3 do not have the required software to understand the embedded info in the video stream nor do they send the info to the graphics card.
The EDID that you are currently using to override your EDID needs to support stereoscopic formats that your TV is capable of displaying.
So best thing to do for any further help is tell us your Display model#

Indeed, could have done that before. Sorry i didn't.
My tv is a Toshiba 47XL975G.
From what I tried until now, it seems that the tv is now recognized as a supported 3d device, but the 3d output doesn't fit my tv somehow. As mentioned, on my first display, the picture is doubles horizontally and my tv puts them together, but with no depth effects whatsoever. Not in Skyrim, nor in Starcraft 2 (both fitting for 3d tv according to nVidia Homepage)

You need to use the Nvidia hotkeys to change depth and convergence.
Go to the panel where you enable 3D, click set keyboard shortcuts and check the box "enable advanced in-game setting"
So update. Finally it works. *cheers happily*
Turns out 3D was shown correctly, but only on one of my displays, unfortunatly not on my tv. All I had to do was set my TV as my only (and by that) first and main display and viola, 3D in all it's glory and beauty.
As so often with computers, the solution was simple and the problem was (kinda) in front of it, not within.
Depth and convergence: I'll look into that tommorow as it is 2 a.m. right now.
Again, thank you all for the help. Really appreciated.
