Arma 3 is now playable in 3D but still needs the trees and bushes shaders to not be blue. Bohemia Interactive have fixed the other foreground shaders (unintentionally). I had to change the profile in Nvidia Inspector to Metro2033 because the Arma3 one kept crashing in 3D vision. Does anybody know how this could be fixed by the community? I've opened a ticket http://feedback.arma3.com/view.php?id=17166 on the BI hub so hopefully (though doubtful) they'll look at it. The DX11 wrapper would be very useful for this alone I think. Come on Flugan, you can do it. And you Helix.

Hey Richie72,
Nice find about the Metro2033 profile ! It was really frustrating to see the latest versions of ArmA3 crashing in Stereo 3D Mode...
ArmA3 is such an epic game in scale and mod-ability so a DX11 fix would be really awesome...
***Update***
Just flew a Ghosthawk and took a small walk at the beach of Agia Marina on Stratis... 3D adds so much to this game !
The issues I have encountered are just like you mentioned, blue colored bushes and trees at close range, the 2D level of detail replacements of bushes and trees at medium to far range are at wrong depth and softshadows in general are at wrong depth... Apart from that, the game looks great in 3D... The level of detail of the vehicle cockpits or the cluttered rubbish piles and car wreckages around Agia Maria really shine in Stereo 3D...
... also the default convergence values for the first person body mesh and weapon models seem to be positioned perfectly right out of the box.

I actually watched a video of someone playing Skyrim in that today and thought to myself how amazing it would be for Arma. Bit beyond my budget though, and house size for that matter.

It really is like being in Stratis yourself isn't it. Set the Shadows to Low, they'll be at correct depth then. I found the same with Arma2 too. Having high convergence but minimum depth really does it justice and the background trees aren't noticeably at wrong depth then. Only problem is that when you aim down sights, you have to turn convergence down. I tried to use the tool from helix site to assign a 3 different keys for 3 separate depth and convergence settings but that doesn't work in DX11 (yet?). Works for Arma2. Hope Bohemia can intentionally or accidently fix the trees and bushes soon.
Another profile I tried was ant of the "new" Nvidia 3D profiles for DX11 games, ie Assassins Creed Black Flag or Battlefield 4. This produces the "fake" 3D effect in Arma3 which shows brilliant depth to it and the trees and bushes are all textured correctly and at right depth but you don't get any Out of the screen effect like I like to have with the weapon. You might prefer that effect tough until it's fixed. Add me on Steam, I'm Richie G

Yes I noticed that before, setting Shadows to "Low" skips Shadow Buffers rendering and replaces all shadows ingame with Stencil Shadows which is why shadowing then appears at correct depth since it is polygonal.
I will give the fake 3D Profile a go tomorrow when my new 770 GTX arrives but IMO nothing can beat true 3D rendering from two views, especially for high convergence, high depth 3D gamers like me...

Thought I'd post an update about progress fixing this game.
We are getting closer to a fix, but not quite there. Flugan has been able to run 3Dmigoto in Arma 3, and able to look for shaders. We have progressed to where we are looking at trying to fix things, not just get 3Dmigoto to load.
This is #3 on the most wanted list (http://lists.bo3b.net/wish/), so we can prioritize looking into it as well. No promises on time frame, this is all best effort here, but I expect months, not years. Maybe weeks, if we are lucky.
If someone who has the game is up for a little challenge, it would be really helpful to see the shaders that are a problem.
We know that the latest version runs in game, but I'm less sure that shader hunting works. If someone is motivated to look for shaders, please download the patch:
https://github.com/bo3b/3Dmigoto/releases/download/0.54-alpha/3Dmigoto-0.54_alpha.zip
You unpack that zip file with 17 files into the game executable directory.
Then when it's running, cycle through shaders to find a bad one. Since the blue trees are a problem, look for a shader that makes the trees disappear. We aren't going to make them disappear, that's just how you know you have the right shader selected.
You hunt for pixel shaders by using Numpad 1,2. Since the color is off but trees are drawn at the right spot visually, Pixel Shader is most likely. Vertex shaders are found with Numpad 4,5.
When you find the right one mark it with Numpad 3. That writes a big CRC number into the log file which you can find at the bottom. Find the associated file. It will look something like 00a1e03450eff66e-ps_replace.txt.
If you attach that file here, or send it to me, I'll take a look. Thanks.

Well, I tried and tried to get shader hunting to work and admittedly this is the first game I've tried it on, but I couldn't seem to get any shaders to turn off or blink or whatever. Not sure if I maybe doing something wrong?

Could be, but it could also be that 3Dmigoto has problems with that game. It's not fully debugged yet, and we know that it has problems on some games.
I think this confirms Flugan's test that he could not hunt shaders either.
Thanks for giving it a try and letting me know.
@Richie72: BTW, I would still be interested in looking into that d3d11_log.txt file. That can tell me whether we are close to a fix or farther away.
If you get a chance and can upload it to my ftp site, that would be terrific.

Hi bo3b,
I did as your post a few back requested. I went through and found the Pixel shaders that where the trees and branches.. I only found 2 Pixel shader and there was 2 vertex shaders but I did not get those included yet unless you need them..
here are the files you requested from saving with numpad 3.
https://1drv.ms/u/s!AgDOJnMP-19IhGDCsUGXWuYJFimd
I zipped it and there are 4 files in there. I did not know if you needed all of them or not so I just included all when I did 3D Migoto shader hunting..
Hiopefully we can get a fix I been up all night working on this..

OK I been busy all afternoon reading the instructions to know how to shader hunt. I found more then previously thought.. as I finished the entire guide I have no idea how to fix them? I can remove them from the game and the lessons ended near there..
so here is the new zip file I put it on OneDrive hopefully that is ok for you:

Hopefully we can get this fixed soon ;) thnx for the help..
