What To Look For in a 3D Ready Monitor
What I'd really like to see is a stickied list of what to look for in 3D Ready Monitors so we can shop on websites a whole lot easier. So many threads on this forum about monitors go on tangents and side conversations about technical things that may or may not be related to the subject. Also many date back to 2009 almost 10 years ago. Any new comer looking for info is going to have a hard time rifling through it. Having a shopping parameter list will also allow us to find current monitors (not ones listed 7-10 years ago) and with that in mind pricing/options will be better as well. Ultimately I'd like to be able to look at a monitor's specs on any shopping website and say "Yes, thats 3D Ready" or "No it isn't." So what I'd like to know is the following: 1) BASIC: 3D visions website says the requirements are "Any desktop LCD or CRT display." This obviously doesn't help at all. I'm kinda shocked they didn't mention anything else. It obviously isn't true. 2) REFRESH RATE: Minimum Refresh Rate? I see 120 HZ and other numbers being thrown out there (EG. 144 HZ). Can anyone confirm that this is the refresh rate? 3) RESPONSE TIME: I have always looked for 1 ms or less in gaming monitors. Is this critical to 3D ready monitors as well? 4) RESOLUTION: I read that resolution is dropped in half for 3D ready monitors. Not sure where resolution fits in here... but still wondering if there is any preferred parameters given that there are a bunch of new formats out there. 5) PHYSICAL: There are also curved screens out there. Do these qualify or less desired? 6) FREE SYNC / GSYNC: Does any monitor having this automatically qualify it as 3D ready? 7) STROBE LIGHT / FLICKER FREE: does a monitor having this invalidate a 3D ready monitor or not? Threads don't make that clear. 8) CROSS TALK: I've seen mention of this also. I dont know what it is yet but its out there. 9) MISCELLANEOUS: Anything else that is critical to being 3D ready? Or automatically disqualifies one?

Sorry - accidental repost. On a side note I'm a bit dismayed NVIDIA has made it this difficult. Like if they are going to abandon this project just do it completely, and if not, then keep info current including their outdated website info for 3D vision.

It gets old helping people out, we can tell you this is the best monitor, but then you'd say, nope, it doesn't match my drapes. Then we could suggest another one, but you would state that it doesn't match my carpet. The shit gets old. So if you want a list, make one. I gave you some good links in another thread and it's up to you to research what fits your needs. And I've no idea what you are talking about, none of us have suggested monitor choices that are not currently available. As far as Free Sync, feel free to Google it. It uses AMD hardware, that is incompatible with 3D Vision. G-Sync in the past, generally guaranteed 3D Vision certification, but that was when it first came out. You could state simple things like "your budget", "desk size" and/or "desired screen size", "GPU"?, "CPU", "amount of memory"

And yes we should be able to pick a monitor that matches our drapes if we should choose. The whole idea is to be more independent of this forum and its smallish community of helpful but albeit tired users. That is what stickied posts are for and given a 3D ready monitor is one _major_ limiting factor to having 3D Vision working I'm surprised a stickied post of shopping list parameters doesn't exist already. If you don't want to help thats OK. Having shopping parameters helps with the fatigue that is "I dont feel like answering this question over again I'd rather make a whole post about not wanting to answer any questions." Thanks for your help.

From all the research i've done and holding out for years and reading a lot of posts and seeing D-man reply a lot.. lol , Its the PG278QR atm for monitors and we just need to spam that in threads.. all the info you're listing is for people to Figure out whats the best .. but if others have already done the research "d-man, bo3b etc" , then its easier just to say the Products "best 24 inch, best 27 inch, best projector, best 3d viewer" etc instead of "best refresh rate or is this ok", or make the list as D-man said... and get the list "once its done" Sticked to the forum page i would suggest you just copy and past certain stuff to make this list .. I found what this Bo3b dude said to be the best info https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/1041002/3d-vision/i-am-the-new-one-spending-3000-euro-on-3d-rig-need-help/3/

That is a nice monitor but damn its expensive. Guess I'll be saving up for a while unless I can find another similar monitor at another price. Thanks for the info @MostWantedRob And yea there should still be a sticky to help from people having to wade through a ton of threads and not getting a whole lot of info other then what X person's favorite monitor is. What is best for one person isn't best for all so yes parameters help. Yes that 27" is great but there may be someone who has found a another 27" and wants to to assess if it also qualifies. Not everything we all do is related to 3D gaming and sometimes you just find another monitor with a style or other features you really like. So its why there should be a parameters list. I will see if I can get NVIDIA to respond on this request.

Not likely to match your drapes, but certainly more affordable.
What I'd really like to see is a stickied list of 3D Ready Monitors
I saw this post, it should help you
As you know the official list of 3D Vision Ready hardware at http://www.nvidia.com/object/3d-vision-system-requirements.html hasn't been updated in a while. The good news is an up-to-date list exists in the driver itself, in two text files - nvtimings.ini and nvstusb.inf. The bad news is that list only includes IDs and not the actual names. I was able to identify most of the models by these IDs and put together a list that you can download at https://www.dropbox.com/s/bev8n97jbxwpwgd/List%20of%203D%20Vision%20Ready%20hardware.xlsx?dl=0 (XLSX version) or https://www.dropbox.com/s/m0vfn24bdl6ub1a/List%20of%203D%20Vision%20Ready%20hardware.csv?dl=0 (CSV version). Click on Download in the upper right corner. I grouped them by the driver version/date where they were added to give an idea of how old they are. I was surprised to find that many new models were added in 2016 and we already have 2 new models added in 2017! Unfortunately I couldn't find the names for the last 4 devices, probably because they are not released yet. I want to ask everyone who owns some 3D Vision Ready hardware to take a look at the list and check if their model is there. If it's not, please open your Device Manager, double click on your device in the Monitors section, open the Details tab, select Hardware Ids in the Property drop down and let me know the ID value. Please note that this list is for 3D Vision Ready hardware only and not for 3DTV Play or Optimized for NVIDIA GeForce. So if you don't see the "3D Vision Ready" icon in your NVIDIA Control Panel, please don't post your IDs. I created this list mostly for myself, because my monitor got a few dead pixels and I started thinking about buying a replacement.
