..i have created quite a number of game profiles with geometry mode by now http://rjkole.com/gamestuff/index_e.php (scroll down). I coulndt really report bad shaders except when using the wrong game engine.
With certain games vorpX even performs better then 3D vision. Legacy of Kain: Defiance for example is known to be totally flat with 3D-Vision, with VorpX the game has great depth.
Even some helixmod shaderfixes work with vorpX ! Example: Halo 2. (removed crosshair)
I think it could be worth trying other helixmod fixes too.
Theres a thread in the vorpX forum collecting users created geometry game profiles. Your are welcome to join us there if you got a game to work in geometry mode which is not on this list yet.
Note: vorpX gives a warning when using a dx9 dll in the game folder, ignore it when trying helixmod.

Wow amazing work RJ8, as a big fan of Vorpx this info is pure gold and I didn't know about your site, really impressive, I'm waiting for Pimax 8k to play in VR again (I just can't stand SDE any more) and Vorpx with Pimax 8k should be a dream come true, I'm bookmarking your site for future reference, thanks for your work.

I already have Tridef (the normal edition, not VR) It's a great driver but but there are no new profiles.
That's why I'm looking around for other products. The more 3D drivers available, the higher the chances of getting games working in 3D stereo.

I made that guide months ago. With some driver profile tweaks you can make the HUD not be affected by convergence. Then you can use whatever convergence you want, so it isn't flat at all.
When turning off headtracking you are using your HMD just like a monitor sticking to your face. This mode it not very comfortable though because you spin the hole world around with moving your head, ( you are moving the monitor with your head!) you brain expects something else and you get motion sick very quickly. Thats why vorpX has different modes , eg. Cinema Mode. In games where headtracking is not mousebound or sticks to screen in full vr mode, like LOKI for example, you can choose "cinema mode" where you can project the 3D on a big sceen in front of you, this way you can move your head without spinning the rest of the world with you.
( BTW: Cinema mode can give you an almost Full VR feeling when pulling the screen very close to you.- Depending on the game though , Example: Sacred 2, Loki, Space Siege)
Note: 3D Geometry mode does not rely on Full VR mode, you can use it in cinema mode as well.

I am not interested in this VR Virtual Cinema stuff.
I do not have a VR headset. I have a 3D display (projector).
What I would like to know is :
-Can you run VorpX without a VR headset or is the VR headset mandatory. (like Occulus/Steam VR/etc... auto-detection locks you out if a VR headset is not detected)
-Can you disable ALL VR features (special VR aspect ratios, special VR field of view, etc...) and use it as a stereo 3D driver.
-What 3D formats can you output ?
I cannot find that info on the official website.

I would like to know if VorpX can be used as a stereo3D driver.
I know there is stereoscpic rendering with proper dual-camera systems (geometry 3D mode).
But then can out output that rendering to any type of standardized format for a stereoscopic display other than a VR headset, or will you get blocked ? or will VorpX apply some VR features that I do not want on a regular display ?
I am not able to try it myself at the moment, my 3D system is packed (moving to a new place), so just ask.

Hello there,
If anyone is having trouble using DGvoodoo2 with VorpX on Windows 7, this DX11.1 Windows Platform Update</strong> https://www.microsoft.com/de-de/download/details.aspx?id=36805 makes it work.
For anyone buying VorpX it works decently. Do *not* expect to be firing up games left and right. Expect more of a toolbox with an extensive learning curve where you will occasionally get good results. Don't think because you finally got a game to work right that it is going to be working right the next time. There are always turds coming down this pipeline or that (i.e. updates) either from vorpx itself, Windows, the game , could be any number of things. Things that worked great one day after many hours of figuring it out will not work the next.
It also heavily conflicts with 3D Vision and can cause all kinds of issues with working and/or fixed games. VorpX will rarely work on a game that you applied a 3D vision fix to. I'm using VR daily now and do not have vorpX installed. I installed it but it started causing problems so I rolled back and got rid of it to be on the safe side.
In the end I filed it away with things not worth the effort. But for the record, it does in fact work and on a positive note for the few games that have 'geometry 3D' (really the only ones that make VorpX worth anything, you can actually crank up things like 3D strength (convergence) and FOV.
Also don't expect to be getting 90 FPS just because you got 400 FPS on a regular screen. Even for 10 year old games on 1080GTX where I specifically bought the 1080GTX looking forward to getting the 90 FPS in games like Unreal 2007... it still manages to chug along at like 20-30 FPS.

Sorry man, i call this a typical vorpX newbee posting. 3D Vision is not suppoosed be enabled while using vorpX, mods for 3D Vision cant be used for VorpX tha same way as you can not user your grandma for vorpX. (though you do can hunt shades with the helixmod, you just cannot the ready made fixes for a game) I am not getting into a vorpx lesson now, the software is just great, the inofficial list of games that work in sterescopic 3D counts about 400 games now and is growing daily.
It just takes time to get confirm with all the possibilities of a space ship, i mean vorpX.
BTW:
I started a twitter channel just yesterday so people can stay informed (like on a mailing list) about the newest game profiles that come out almost daily.
Please follow us at : http://twitter.com/vorpxG
Thank you

Obviously you can't have 3D Vision enabled while trying to use vorpx. What I said was that any game that you have applied a 3D vision fix to will most likely no longer work with vorpX.

Just remove the helixmod d3d9.dll from your game folder and youre good to go. PS: If VorpX hooks into a game without the helixmod, it should do also with the mod remaing in the game folder. You can even hunt/store/disable shaders in the vive/oculus with the helixmod. Just ignore the VorpX message about the dll.
Always disable 3d vision in your Nvidia control panel when using vorpx ! They both cant be used together.
