Issue with setting up 3D Vision
Ok, I'm having an extremely frustrating time getting my 3D Vision setup working.

Lemme start by describing my hardware. I am running an Asus G72 laptop with a GTX260m with 197.16 drivers. I have my Samsung 120 hz monitor and my 3D vision equipment. I am forced to use an HDMI to DVI cable because my G72 only has HDMI but that shouldn't be a problem because the cable I am using is rated to support 120 hz.

That said, I have all the proper drivers, equipment (even ran the "Can you use it?" thing on the nvidia site) and yet my monitor refuses to switch from 60 hz to 120 hz. Yes, I am running at native resolution of 1680x1050 and I have tried everything I can think of. And no, the monitor isn't busted because I can plug it into my desktop using a Dual Link DVI and it works at 120 hz (my desktop doesn't have HDMI). The only thing I can think of is the cable somehow isn't capable of transmitting the proper signal...which if so, will really piss me off because I paid a good amount of money for it because it was advertised to be compatible with 120 hz monitors.

Someone please help me here, this is ridiculous that it isn't working. I've even tried using that dinky little HDMI to DVI cable that came with my 3D Vision package and that doesn't work.

i'm not 100% about this, so you may want to wait for another response, but i think that for lcd monitors you have to use a dual link dvi cable for 3d. Not positive, but thats what i think.

ya, that's what it says is required, I made sure that the cable I purchased had a DVI-D end on it to HDMI and that it transferred information at 120 hz. I just tested the cable and monitor on a different computer that had HDMI and it couldn't display at 120 hz either so it looks like the cable I bought was falsely advertised which is a serious load of crap.

all the HDMI to dvi cables I have are not dual dvi cables. you can tell my looking at the pins on the DVI end. if it is full of pins it's dual dvi if it is only 50% full it is not dual. I don't even know if an hdmi to dvi cable would work for this tech. if there is no sort of dual dvi connection to the Monitor you wouldn't get the 120hz. It may work fopr a DLP tv since those use hdmi and a different method for the s3d.

Here's the screwy thing. They sell HDMI to 24+1 pin DVI (AKA: Dual Link) however, they fit an HDMI type A head on it which makes it transmit only at single link instead of dual link...which apparently was the cable I bought.

I've found out now I need an HDMI Type B (aka: HDMI 1.4). I've bought the cable and an adapter so the cable will work this time. Only thing is I'm not sure if the adapter is rated to work with HDMI 1.4. It's a shot in the dark so lets hope it works.
