Now I am less sure because things were particular breaking for him. Was this just do his settings/fov? Like whats going on with Vorpx, is it just running in background for headtracking? Maybe its just me but I kind of want the details. I think its cool finally seeing someone who got 3D vision/real 3d to work. Real tired of seeing a youtuber with 100,000 views sploosh over Zbuffer games.

Hey guys! Hoopermation here, thanks for checking out the video! So, I think I'll need to explain what the heck I did here, as a lot of people are confused. First thing, I only used 2 pieces of software to do this: VorpX and DarkStar's 3DVision fix. Here's why/how: VorpX is able to pretty much hook into any kind of software that uses Directx 9/11. Some games don't work, but majority of them can at least be hooked into. How VorpX does it's job is it hooks directly into a game's .dll files, and injects the barrel distorting, separation, and mouse-emulated head tracking into the game while it's running. It can also inject some 3D elements into supported games by either using the games z-buffer, or it can inject Geometry 3D into it. Geometry 3D is where VorpX can basically have the game render 2 cameras, one for the left eye, and one for the right, producing the best possible 3D effect out there. Far Cry Primal isn't technically supported by VorpX, so VorpX can't inject any 3D into the game, but it can still do the distortion/head tracking. Knowing that, I found the 3D Vision fix for it and tested it out. I know that 3D Vision fixes can work in VR, as I've done it before, twice actually. I used this method (or something similar) with the OpenGL 3DVision wrappers for SOMA and Amnesia (Thanks Helifax!) and produced similar results. So, with 3DVision producing the 3D Effect for the game, and VorpX doing the rest, boom! Far Cry Primal in VR (after messing with the depth/convergence of course). The only other thing I did here was crank up the FOV on the game in the GamerProfile.ini file located in Documents/MyGames/FarCryPrimal. I turned it up to about 120. Oh, and about it being in a mono view: Since the newer Oculus Rift runtimes cannot do Extended Mode (Telling Windows that he Rift is another monitor), and instead has only direct mode (Having the Rift as it's on separate device instead of a monitor), VorpX has to mirror the window that is shown on the Rift to my desktop. It could only do the original game window (without any of the injection effects that VorpX does) and to my surprise my recording software OBS captured the game without the 3D effects as well, so it looked as normal as possible! Hope this cleared things up!

Thankyou for clearing that up. I have been very curious since I and many other have 3D vision fixes which many could be potentially be running one day hopefully. I am familiar with Vorpx just was very confused since video was capturing non split/distorted video but explanation makes sense. VorpX doesn't create any FPS issues, unless it's producing the 3D, which here, it is not. But, the performance was sub-par for VR due to 3DVision. And I have a 980TI/i7 4790K. So I don't know if I did something wrong or if it was just that taxing :(

It should tax a little like 4/6 of your 2D output. The ratio is better on SLI which seems to be a non-solution for VR. Like instead of 120 fps you would have 80 which is 40 per eye. Yea... its a bit hard to maintain on modern games. Especially an Ubisoft title :P Again thanks for clearing that up I am a bit of an old modder and only worked on dx9 era [which unforunately is not supported for side by side but I hope for one day] but its would be a dream to see my stuff played by VR users especially since it seems like its going to be ALOT of people at this rate. 3D vision modding has proven more capable for stereoscopic rendering then the other solutions [thus far]. It's funny you mentioned mirror's edge/fallout: new vegas. I know ME works with VorpX in Geometry, not sure about Fallout: New Vegas though. I know that works with Vireio Perception though!

Well we can do things that Vorpx can't. Like VorpX might have broken shadows/whatever. We can fix them. In Fallout your stuck with one visual setting so basically you take out PIP boy and its broken cause its in your eyes and so it literally pops out so bad that its physically impossible to see. You use gun sights its at the wrong depth. You use vats and the 2D hud make it hard to visualize. ------------------------ I was able to give pip boy, vats, gun sights its own convergence setting. And force a 3D hud for vats. I am very excited for a day when modders are modding for Rift. Cause geometry 3D is impossible in all but a few games without modders. [Ridiculous FOV/ 2D HUD/ 2D Crosshair/ etc]. This is why Vorpx has a strong Z buffer focus. Its neigh impossible to get proper support of geometry 3D without intervention. Geometry 3D is a laundry list of issues that modders[Many more skilled then I] have to go through to make sure its great. If you have time check out the fallout video and you will see what I mean. Anywho going to bed, nite.

Maybe it would be possible like Helifax mentioned earlier in the thread, to create a custom shader to do the VR transformations like VorpX? Then all that would be necessary would be to capture the input from the HMD and map it to the mouse input using joy2key or similar? It may need some type of algorithim to smooth the input accelleration for head tracking, but I think it could be possible... Maybe someone more knowledgeable with how 3dmigoto works with xinput could chime in here, but I'm confident that if it is at all possible, that Bo3b, DSS & the rest of the 3dmigoto team should be able to make it happen.
