Guys, 3dTV reports that i need to use 1280x720@60 when I'm trying to use DSR. Is there a fix for this?
I really need to get this working because the aliasing in Alien Isolation makes it unbearable in 3D. btw, I'm using a HMZ-T1
Am I missing something? Doesn't downsampling occur if you just set up a custom resolution in the Nvidia control panel. I have a Benq w1070 and set one up with great results. I recently upgraded to gtx 970s in SLI in order to push 2560x1440 in 3D. I had to set up a 2560x1441@120hz resolution (Benq wouldn't accept 1440) on the Benq but it looks great downsampled in 3D great compared to normal 720p, almost as good as 1080p. I just followed these steps. First you need to use the Acer edid override to ditch 3dtv play.
Set your desktop to 1280x720@120HZ....then go to the create custom resolutions section of the Nvidia control panel.....when you first click on customize, it opens up with your current desktop setting.....as soon as it opens, switch from automatic to manual and do not let any of the settings change...now change it to 2560x1441 without letting anything else change...hit test, comfirm it's ok.

I've always refered to it as pseudo 2560x1440, because it's not really 2560x1440 since the display doesn't have that many pixels. It definitely seems to work better with DLPs and their mirrors. I've done it on 120Hz monitors, several projectors and a passive TV with mixed results, depending on the game.
I also do it on my old 60Hz TV for watching programs via Windows Media Center, etc... it might be psychological, but it does seem to make ye ole Tv a lil sharper.

In my case, I discovered it was the receiver causing the problem. My setup is PC-Receiver-Projector. I have 720p 60hz 3D available as a resolution option this way, but not 720p 120hz. As it's frame packed I still get 60hz per eye, but I can't do 2D 120hz 720p. So when I attempt this method, I use the 3D resolution as my starting point, and anything I try and do results in a black screen. However when connected directly to the projector, I get the same results as Ceejay.
The problem with doing it that way, is I have no other way to get sound to the receiver. Optical audio can't do true 5.1 sound, so I don't know of any way to connect video to the projector, and audio to the receiver. In theory I could connect a HDMI cable do my projector, one to my receiver, then run audio and video to the receiver, and video to the projector, but that would effectively create a second monitor, which would be confusing and annoying to work with as I couldn't see it without changing projector inputs.
I haven't explained this well because I'm in a rush, but does anyone have any ideas?

Yeah D-Man, thanks for pointing it out to me. At 1920x1080 I noticed less difference than I do at 2560x1441.
Guybrush, I had to buy a soundcard myself to get around any receiver issue. It was about $40 for a soundblaster card if I remember correctly.
Keep in mind if DSR is enabled, custom resolutions are disabled.

I've been away and just have a laptop with me, so I haven't been able to try this to see if it offers any improvemments over just selecting manual and adjusting it.
Anyhow he uses these settings; "Scaling mode = Aspect ratio, Perform Scaling on = GPU, Check "Override the scaling mode set by games and programs"

There are a lot of methods but personally I use a method to bypass the need for hdmi in the audio chain all together.
I use an RME fireface UC. It's a USB audio interface that has the options for balanced analogue 7.1 outputs. I need balanced outputs for my active speakers (speakers with amps built in) to eliminate ground loops (hum and buzz)
You don't need DTS on your decoder or amp for games or films anymore.
Games decode to PCM and powerdvd decodes DTS and Master audio etc to PCM anyway so you're convered no matter what.
This way you don't have to upgrade your amp every time a new HDMI standard comes out.
Like how everyone will probably have to ditch there Amps for hdmi 2.0 or buy again for dolby atmos etc.
It's cheaper in the long run and you are getting better quality/don't have to jump through upgrade hoops.

Are you referring to Dolby TrueHD or DTS-HD Master Audio?
Otherwise Toslink is capable of 5.1 surround.
The speakers/amp are only a year old, and the speakers aren't active. Replacing them unfortunately isn't on the cards right now. Looks like the Xonar would work, but it would also act as another monitor, which would be an annoyance.
I think I might just have to deal with it.

But nVidia support have told me it's something they are planning to fix in an upcoming driver release (they wouldn't confirm exactly when, or if it's going to be in the next release though)
