I suddenly had a night off so decided to upgrade my ATI 6870 to an Nvidia 660 TI.
I've been playing BF3 in 3D mode on my Samsung S27A950D.
So expecting a night with of 3D fun at double the FPS I started BF3 only to discover that the 3D option was no longer available from the config screen.
After searching a little on the web it seems that Nvidia somehow doesn't support the Samsung S27A950D? Even though it's a perfectly capable 120Hz screen?
Has anything changed? Is there currently a way to get 3D to work with this screen with my new Nvidia card?

I have the same problem... spent a fortune on a nice new screen, only to find out there is no 3D compatabilty with Nvidia cards, considering how popular these monitors are (Sold out first batch in Aust, had to wait for the second batch) Nvidia will be losing business in the long run from this. So I'm sorry to say my next video card upgrade will be an ATI Card of coarse, and i was so looking forward to running 2 GT680 in SLI on my PC :(

Why not just post the solution?

Please folks, this isn't the right forum to talk about this, come on.
Think about, the S27A950D is a great monitor and I also own one, but it's a competitor product designed to work with AMD 3D or crappy Tridef, not 3D Vision, as Samsung chose this path instead of working with Nvidia's 3D Vision solution.
It's not of Nvidia interest that we use our monitor with 3D Vision since it's a competitor product.
So, let's be smart and talk about this in other forums, respecting this forum's policy.
Remember that because some unwise folks mentioned that Generic CRT mode, which was available with drivers WHQL 296 and older ones, could be used to enable 3D Vision support using the unsuported S27A950D monitor, Nvidia has ditched Generic CRT mode in the newer drivers we're using today, so mentioning any hacks here that could enable 3D Vision support with the Samsung monitor will only make Nvidia again do the same thing. Make the hack useless with newer drivers to come.
I had a Samsung 3DTV that supports frame sequential mode, I was loving playing 3D games at 1080p30hz, which is by far better than lame 1080p24hz, and because of some idiots that post the trick of Generic CRT mode enabling 3D for the samsung monitor in this very forum, I'm not able to use the great Generic CRT mode anymore for my TV since Nvidia got rid of it just because it was a workaround for enabling 3DV for the S27A950D. Nvidia doesn't want this, let's respect their will, and this is their forum, their rules..... OK
Do you get my point?
Sorry for my english as it's not my native language.

You have to run a stand alone 3d driver. 3d vission doesn't work with these monitors. Hell for a small while at the 680s launch display port didn't even work at 120hz. Thankfully that was fixed with the next beta driver but the windows default one for awhile wasn't so if you auto updated you would loose your ability to use your monitor. All is well now though as for the most part all I care about is playing games at 120fps on 120hz.

2D is 2D, don't care if it's 120hz and 120fps. Anything beyond 60fps, is jusy for benches, nothing changes in the game enviroment or gameplay won't be any smoother.
3D in my opinion was the biggest change in game's history, it's a pity most PC gamers don't think alike. But I really never cared about 2D at 120hz after I got to know 3D gaming better.
I guess 120hz is better than 60hz, but is still 2D, it doesn't give you the OWWWWWWWWW effect, only 3D does that.... Just my opinion though....

i dont get it , so now you are saying that 3D is possible with that monitor through the display port of the 680 ?
