thanks for your answer that was the conversation with nvidia online help center now i am confused :) but if you tried it i will listen you and i will go with my glasses:) first glasses not disturbing me about size.

When the Vision 2 glasses first came out, I bought a pair, just because, and was a bit disappointed as was hoping for "more brighter"..., so then I bought the new 27" Asus VG278H Lightboost monitor. Now I'm really happy!!, but it cost almost $1K.
Save your money and get your vid cards first as when you go hog wild on screens, you want to make sure you can crank up the resolution and other settings.

Nice to hear they're not all showing this defect.
As for refined model, I'm surprised you guys haven't been keeping track of any markings looking for Rev. #s, build dates, firmware versions etc in the OSD or monitor backplate. Usually that's a pretty good indicator of progress, change or fixes on LCD panels and maybe something you can check for others.
Mine arrived Thursday, manufactured Nov 2011. I've probably used it 4-6 hours per day since. I had my fingers crossed on quality control and still do on general principles based on various inputs. But this one to date has been really great! I just ran Dead Pixel Buddy and don't see any odd halos or dead pixels. The 3D effect works beautifully with an nVidia GTX580 and the nVidia 3D Vision 2 glasses. Brightness in 3D mode is fine as far as I'm concerned. I have a Fujifilm W3 3D camera so I've been able to try 3D in Battlefield 3 plus the Fuji MPO pictures (two JPEGS snapped simultaneously with two lenses) and 720p 3D video. I was using red/green anaglyph glasses before on a regular monitor and hated it as I have trouble resolving the inputs perfectly in that scenario. The nVidia approach (shutters) is working really well for me.
As a side note, I had a Hannspree 27" monitor before which I really liked. This is easily as good as that in the 2D mode, and there's a lot less heat coming off the panel surface.

anyone know exact spec of new acer hn274h with 3d vision 2 release date and spec? will it have higher contraste ratio and more options/sturdier build etc?
only thing i saw was on blog but it didn't say nothing about spec but only saying it's 3d vision 2 version.
EDIT: Is this suppose to be it? 100 millions to 1 Contrast ratio? original acer hn274h had 10 millions and asus vg278h has mere 50 millions to 1 contrast ratio. hmm.. interesting.. I might wait a little and get this one instead of asus vg278h if it turns out to be ok. :p

Got the Asus lightboost 2 27'' monitor over Christmas break and it's absolutely incredible.
Mine even has the backlight issue, when on a black screen you can just barely see a shape, but it has absolutely NO effect on games/movies. The screen is NEVER completely black unless loading a game or something, I wouldn't of even noticed the damn thing If I hadn't read about so many people complaining.
Best monitor I've ever bought, absolutely love it.

Nice to hear and I feel the same it´s a fantastic monitor, best hardware purchase ever made I say
I have mine for a month or so and I have zero problem with it, no oval backlight bleeding at all.
Btw some says that the oval bleeding will go away after a few weeks of use so you just hold on to your´s and it will probably smoth out over time /smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

I have the ASUS VG236 and I'm relatively happy with it. I was about to buy the ASUS VG278H but I saw posts like this http://www.overclock.net/t/1179486/vg278h-backlight-bleed and changed my mind. That's unacceptable for a $700 monitor so I'll skip this one. Are there going to be any other lightboost monitors in the near future?

I believe there's an Acer and BenQ Lightboost monitor coming sometime in the near future.

I've finally seen a VG278H at a friend and I'm really disappointed, my ASUS VG236 is much better. It's unacceptable to pay $700 for such a POS when for $100 less you can get a 42" 3D TV with a better panel and better glasses that let more light to pass, less crosstalk and colors look better than on any 3D monitor out there. To bad none have dual-link DVI :(
I was thinking to get a 3D TV instead of a 3D monitor, either a Samsung or the LG with passive glasses but I've never seen one running 3DTV Play or Tridef at 1080p 24Hz . Has anyone seen both systems? How big of a difference is there between a 3D Monitor running 1080p 60HZ and 3D TV running 1080p 24HZ ?

You should have asked your friend to adjust his settings if his VG278H wasn't bright enough and had too much crosstalk. I had an Alienware AW2310 monitor before this and it was pretty good when it was released but can't come close to the brightness the VG278H offers with its Lightboost technology. It also was a lot better at reducing crosstalk even with the increased brightness. As for the colors I went with the RGB settings Bloody suggested on his blog and went from there.
I would expect a good HDTV to have a superior panel than a TN panel that all the 120Hz 3D monitors have but I have my doubts I would be satisfied with a $600 HDTV and its overall quality in areas other than 3D. I do not have a passive 3d monitor but I do know they have their own quirks that may or may not bother you. Hopefully someone with first hand experience with one can elaborate more.
I apologize if I come off in a negative way. I am on my 3rd 3D monitor now, four if you count using a CRT monitor with Nvidia's first generation stereo 3D. I have seen improvements every step of the way in the overall 3D image quality. My personal settings for my VG278H is contrast at 50%, Lightboost at 100%, and Trace at 100.

Got the Asus lightboost 2 27'' monitor over Christmas break and it's absolutely incredible.

Nice to hear and I feel the same it´s a fantastic monitor, best hardware purchase ever made I say
I have mine for a month or so and I have zero problem with it, no oval backlight bleeding at all.
Btw some says that the oval bleeding will go away after a few weeks of use so you just hold on to your´s and it will probably smoth out over time

I could live with the far left one and maybe the middle one, but that right one...lol. Wow.
