3DTV Play in Side by Side mode Will Nvidia considering adding SbS?
  4 / 7
Yes,please Nvidia, add CB and SBS support to which ever you wish--3d vision or 3Dtv play.
And do,please, ignore the fact that by doing so you will be cutting off 1 stream of revenue for Nvidia by making the other obsolete.
And also, while you are at it,please ignore the requests of computer monitor manufacturers who would no doubt also lose revenue due to the fact that
my and many other's 3D LED HDTV's not only work as an excellent if not superior computer monitor and entertainment system at the same time.
How do YOU spell BULL?
I spell it--non intervention user inconvenience.

Hi

There is a lot of misinformation on this forum I really want to clear it up.

First, many people are claims on these forums that I said we will never do these features, it will kill 3D Vision business, etc etc.

If you have read my forum posts you will see I do agree that adding these modes make sense. We are committed to added support for both checkerboard and side/side modes in future drivers.

Second, to answer your question about why its take so long - because we have a lot of features to deliver. If you read these forums there are a lot of features our users want and we have a priority list to get them all added. This will get added, its just taking time.

I do understand that many of you are frustrated and want it now and we will do everything we can to get it to you as quickly as we possibly can.

And to answer some users questions, yes I do read these forums I just cant read and respond to each thread as much I would like.

I suppose a response of some sort is better than no response at all.
But,I do believe I have hit a nerve and wouldn't be at all surprised if I got BANNED.

I think what bothers me and many others as far as your priority list, is that there seems to always be enough time for your team to update drivers as far as new games coming out, but never enough time to give your users the main thing they are asking for, which is better 3D quality.
Have you considered re-thinking your priority list?
Also, could you explain to everyone what features specifically you are referring to that take priority to keeping a loyal customer base?

Thank you for your response.
CB and SBS are the same thing basically, both are half resolution per eye, there's no difference between these 2 3D modes.
Since I'm currently in a testing phase for the Samsung SA950 monitor and also own a Samsung HDTV capable of the checkerboard mode, I can now clearly say that checkerboard is the better choice and superior to side-by-side (or top-bottom) for use with a PC for a lot of reasons.

1) Side-by-side halves the resolution in one direction (horizontally or vertically), which causes clearly visible strong aliasing for edges orientated in that direction. Checkerboard does not suffer from this problem.

2) Checkerboard is running fine for windowed application. Only downside is that left/right might be inverted by certain window positions, which can be easly solved by moving the window by 1 pixel.

3) Checkerboard also shows a correct image for 2D input. So the desktop around a 3D application window is shown correctly without disortion.

4) The Windows mouse cursor works fine in checkerboard mode also if the input is 2D

Unfortunatelly the SA950 monitor does not support checkerboard format (only side-by-side modes and of course frame sequential), which is really a shame.

I'm here to threw my support for SBS. I'm a huge advocate of choice however, and would like to urge Nvidia to prioritize releasing updates with support for both modes.

If this hasn't been mentioned here before, allow me to share my checkerboard experience with the LG passive 3DTV. A ton of promise and they sh@t the bed with it. LG has a "colorbug" discovered by several people on AVSform and AVForum (UK) which leads to color ghosting with anything in checkerboard. I've gotten a ton of firmware updates pushed to the set (they are good about doing that at least), even one which supposedly improves the scan line issue in 3D (never a problem I was bothered by though, don't let the "it's 1/2 HD res" crowd sway you until you see it, but anyway, it's better now.)

Anyway, color bug still exists. If they fix it one day and I sell my set I'll regret it, but honestly my old Mitsubishi 1080p DLP did 3D Vision best of all.

Also, users report doing line interleaved (3rd party drivers) is perfect on passive displays like the LG, but I doubt Nvidia would implement that but it would be nice! As far as checkerboard goes, I've tried the rollermod, even bought the hardware to disable the red warning message from him), but color bug ghosting kills it. Interestingly I'm told Toshiba passive 3D displays however have been tested and have no color bug and less lag (but unfortunately I don't think they support checkerboard, only line interleaved. Urgh!)

you can use line interleaved mode by using zalman edid no colour bug etc. but here is your (our) new problem:
you have to use your glasses upside down with that mode!since no eye corrrection with native modes

Quick question:

1920x1080p @ 60Hz Side-by-Side (half resolution)
1920x1080p @ 60Hz Top-and-Bottom (half resolution)
1920x1080p @ 30Hz Top-and-Bottom (full resolution)
1920x1080i @ 60Hz Side-by-Side (half resolution)
1920x1080i @ 50Hz Side-by-Side (half resolution)

What supports these modes?

If Nvidia don't support it, can i preorder it?
So i send 750 Dollar to Nvidia, and they get me as replacement parts, a Tridef and iz3d licence and an AMD Card?

When they come to the point in their Roadmap, that they support now 3 year old(i know still 12 days left) hdmi 1.4 specs(not asking for 1.4a, besides "Nvidia claims that this card support HDMI 1.4a" at Kepler Techspecs), they send me an, at this time, current ~700 Dollar Nvdia Card from Phalit or EVGA, and a 3dtv licence?
After arriving at my place i send them the replacement unit, including the replacement licences back.

If not, how long do i have to fight with techsupport and RMA to get it working that way, if i have to buy them and than RMA my card back for not working for HDMI 1.4 and 1.4a resolutions?

Would prefere the first solution, as this way NVidia gets money up front and i don't have to get through a lot of problems with techsupport and sending RMAs, what costs NVidia Shipping and Employee resources.

Or if the developers at NVidia have that much to do, they can always buy up iz3d, and incorporate it into their drivers(and make original iz3d open source /wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' /> ).

well its been quite a while now, Andrew. Here's hoping that n-vidia is still working on sbs/over under/interleaved modes. Just wanted to let you guys know that we still desire this.

As a both HMZ-T1 and 3D Vision 2 user Id also like to see Over Under addition. I have to switch 3DTV off to be able to see movies in helmet.

Also if stereo 3D in 3D Vision is on and I try to connect my HMZ-T1 to PC, computer lags enormously. I have to reset it every time. Any way to fix it?

Even though it seems many users who once desired these optins may have switched over to ati's hd3d software that I hear is doing fairly well :/ I will be so pissed if they have the support nvidia customers have been asking about for years now!
