3DTV Play Beta Instructions Available for 3D Vision owners
  1 / 17
Hi All

I am bit delayed in posting some information online, but I wanted to get this online for users that have 3D Vision kits and want to test 3DTV Play.

First things - for all of you that do not have a 3D Vision, I apologize in advance that we cannot provide this Beta for you to try 3DTV Play. It is not our intention to require you to buy 3D Vision to test 3DTV Play, its just that due to software schedules, 3D Vision customers can try it first. Rest assured that we will have a Trial period for 3DTV Play, so we will allow you to try it before you buy it.

So, lets now get down to information for people who want to try 3DTV Play. I am posting two docs, one on System Requirements and one on User Guide. Feel free to read them and ask me questions. You can use the current 260.63 drivers on the web to try this, and all subsequent drivers.

Plesae feel free to PM me directly if you have problems.

Thanks.

Please Andrew, don't tell me that the new Samsung 3D Plasma's are not compatible with 3DTV Play, please don't tell me that or I wanna kill myself........

I thought 3DTV just needed to have HDMI 1.4 to work, I didn't know, or could ever know that some models woudn't just work with it.

Why the PN63C8000 is not on the list of the supported 3DTV's for 3DTV Play.

Please, tell me that they don't work now with this 260 beta drivers, but that they will work with the WHQL drivers.

Plasmas are the best TV's for 3D, why it will only work with Panasonic????? The only TV's brand that make 3D Plasmas are Samsung and Panasonic, I don't see a reason for my TV not working with 3DTV Play.

I'm feeling very frustrated since I looked to the requirements page you've just posted and didn't see my Samsung PN63C8000 mode there. As you can see there are lots of enthusiasts in this forum that bought this TV, cause most of them are aware that Plasma's holds the edge for 3D, not LED, and Samsung are a excellet choice for the buck as they don't cost as much as Panasonic 3D Plasmas.

Please Nvidia, don't leave us Samsung 3D Plasma's owners out of the list, we don't deserve that.

The monitor requirements you show have a samsung un40c700wf listed as being compatible. When I go to samsung's website they don't even list this tv. They do list a un40c7000wf, which is what i have. However, the compatibility program Nvidia has says this tv is not compatible. What's the true story here? Also the program says the Geforce 9800gt WILL work ,and it isn't listed on the requirements you posted. What gives?

This is why you wait for nvidia to tell you what tv's are compatible before you make a purchase without knowledge. Its not up to them to fix your mistake.

No, I think the requirements he posted have a typo concerning my tv. And I think the requirements he posted don't jive with the system requirements lab program that Nvidia has given us for checking compatibility. That makes it THEIR fault.

Andrew,

What's wrong with Nvidia support these days, you guys are making some customers very frustrated.
You haven't released any new driver today for 3DTV Play, you're telling us to use the same 260.63 drivers that were released a few weeks ago, and that many users were able to enable 3DTV Play and try it.

I asked you if 3DTV Play was out with the release of 260.63 drivers a few weeks ago cause I wasn't able to make it with my Samsung Plasma 3DTV (PN63C8000) despite a few others 3DTV users were, and you said no, it should not work with these drivers. You said not worry cause it wasn't supose to work, and these drivers would only enabled HDMI 1.4 bluray 3D, which I can see on my Nvidia control panel when I set my 3DTV as primary display.
Now, you're telling us to try 3DTV Play with the same drivers you told me 3 weeks ago that did not work for this matter.... Really, I don't get this at all, what the hell?????

So, I guess 3DTV Play doesn't work for the new Samsung 3D Plasmas such as PN63C8000. I don't see my model type under your requirements documents, very frustrating.

I can see the Nvidia 3D logo test flying arround in 3D in the Nvidia control panel and I can also go through the Wizard setup for 3DTV Play and see all in 3D, but at the end, it just tells me to upgrade to 3DTV Play.
So, Am I getting this right??? Cause I can only get HDMI 1.4 bluray 3D, no 3DTV Play logo in the Nvidia control panel and all the 3D functions such as depth control are greyed out.
I know about the 2 HD 3D resolutions for 3DTV Play, 720 60hz and 1080 24hz, and I've been trading information with many users from this forum and most of them were able to get 3DTV Play to work, but I haven't heard of any Samsung 3D Plasma that could get 3DTV Play to work.

I can't really understand why? What is the difference between the new Samsung 3D Plasma from all the other new 3D TV's LED and Plasma in the market, if they all use HDMI 1.4 ???? Why Samsung Plasma are left out of the requirement list??? Samsung 3D LED and Plasma use basically the same type of 3D tech, the only difference is that one is a Plasma and the other is LED TV. Why 3DTV Play works with Sammy LED and not with Plasma???
I really can't figure out this. I would like some explanation for this matter???

I thought you would give us a new drivers to try out, not just let us know what we already knew, that the 260 drivers already have 3DTV play on it. Since many users have asked you that and you said no, it shoudn't work for 3DTV Play, That these drivers were just for bluray 3D playback. But now you say they are the release of 3DTV Play....

Sorry, but you must understand my dissapoitment as a Nvidia consumer... To find out that I bought the only Plasma 3DTV which has amazing crispy quality and beats hands down any LED TV, that it won't work with 3DTV Play. And mainly to find out that those drivers are the release of 3DTV Play, not official, but somehow, and you told me otherwise.

Samsung 3D TV's don't have an automatic 3D mode like Panasonic, and there's no option for set the eye order of the glasses for normal or default, like you state in the instructions.pdf

I can make my TV go into 3D mode using one of those 2 3D resolutions, but as I don't see the Nvidia logo, I guess no 3DTV Play for me, just HDMI 1.4 bluray 3D playback.
I have an Nvidia 3D Vision emitter plugged in and dim green all the time.

Please, make me a happy man, tell me that the official WHQL drivers will have support for the new Samsung 3D Plasmas. Don't tell me it will be just like these beta ones, cause they don't work for me, not to play games in 3D in the big screen.

What gives?
Hi

I think the model for the Samsung is a typo.

Regarding 9800 GT, it is not supported. What program are you referring to? Are you referring to the 3D Vision system scan? That checks for 3D Vision support, not 3D TV support. The 9800 GT does not support HDMI 1.4 timings.
