Have H5360, have a few questions before going 3d
I now have an Acer H5360 with a cheap white 100" screen for 2d use. I am interested in using 3d and had a few questions:

1) Is a GTX 470 enough power for games/3d blu ray movies?
2) Is 4GB ram enough?
3) Is a core 2 duo E8500 (3.16ghz) enough?
(when I say enough I mean decent gaming and movie watching, I dont need the BEST settings, but i dont want it to be crap)

4) Can any cheapo blu ray drive for a pc play 3d movies to this projector?
5) If I have the nvidia glasses kit, can I buy another spare glasses pair for my wife to watch movies with too? If not, what else is needed?
6) Do I have to have a new screen?

Any other considerations or thoughts please let me know!

I've got a GTX460 and it's more then enough for great quality PC gaming even with anti aliasing. The resolution of the H5360 is only 1280x720 so you don't need a huge graphics card to fill it.

Yep. That's what I've got.

Yep. No problem there.

I don't know about the bluray part. I've not got a bluray player for my PC but according to nVidia and GTX460 should do it easily.

Mostly the same as the previous poster but maybe I can add some more info.

A 460 (I have the OC 800mhz one) is fine, havent come across a single game I cant play with full effects yet...

The 460 will also decode 3D BD for you, so your processor and memory setup is fine for almost everyhting (except games that use Physx - this will probably have to be disabled)

I have an old BD/HD combo drive and that works fine with 3D blurays, I beleive the only limitation is it has to be 2X (which i think almost all are)

As for the spare glasses you might want to consider the cheaper option of going with DLP. Providing you have the IR emmiter for the Nvidia glasses you can actually use any DLP glasses with the projector.

I use the optima glasses, which I pick up for about £60 each - much cheaper than the Nvidia ones.

I bought the Nvidia kit, sold the glasses on ebay and bought 2 pairs of DLP Link glasses with the money.

The DLP link glasses are a bit bulkier and not as cool looking but their picture is better than with the Nvidia ones as it doesnt block as much light or tint the image green)

I do find that after 3 hours or so the Optoma glasses feel a bit uncomfortable, but nothing too unbearable.

Just to be clear. You kept the emitter but sold the glasses. Is that correct?

I've heard conflicting reports about the DLP link glasses. Do they really give a better and brighter image then the nVidia ones? Do they stay in sync okay?

'cause I'm interested in going down that route as well.

depends on manufacturer. I think you 'd want realD CE-5 glasses to beat the nv ones. Rest seems cheap, you can't even find their contrast ratio.

Yes, all 3D requires is that the emmiter is plugged in, so I sold the glasses and replaced them with DLP Link glasses.

From personal experience I found the Optoma ZD101 glasses gave a better (slightly brighter and less discoloured) picture - and a few articles on the net concour.

I have to say though, the Optoma can get quite uncomfortable after a few hours wearing - which can be a deal breaker... (the arms point in at a really sharp angle and can press on your head after a while)

You can always keep one pair of Nvidia for personal game playing, and use the optomas for the family when watchign 3d Blurays...

There are some BENQ glasses that look a bit more comfortable than the optomas but i cant find them for sale for less than £100 in the UK.

In time though, i am sure there will be a variety of DLP link glasses on the market as they are currently the only universal 3D glasses available.
