Test Drive Unlimited 2 - Severe Performance Drop In 3D Vision
Hi everybody ! I'm running an Intel Core i7-3930K @ 4.5 GHz with 4x 8GB DDR3-2400 and 2x MSI N670GTX PE OC in SLI, driving an Acer HR274H 27" 3D. All TDU2 settings maxed out at 1920x1080, my framerates hover around 120fps in 2D, but once I enable 3D Vision, it drops to a mere 40fps, which is unacceptable, considering the hardware being used. Obviously the framerate gets nailed to 30fps when I enable vsync, which is not really playable. For enabling SLI in first place, I had to tweak the registry, changing compatibility bits mentioned in this posting in this thread on 3dcenter.org. So, does anybody have a clue why the performance drop in 3D Vision is so heavy and why TDU2's SLI profile is set to "Single GPU" by default ? TIA, Maggi

do you get better performance when you stop stereo service, start the game and then start stereo service again? (task manager - services)

Try disabling SLI maybe? I'm on a single 670 and FPS is perfect.
do you get better performance when you stop stereo service, start the game and then start stereo service again? (task manager - services)
what ? do you mean: - have stereo3D enabled in the driver - disable service in taskmanager - start game - alt-tab to taskmanager - start service again - alt-tab back into game that would strike me odd, but I'll try ... thanx !
Try disabling SLI maybe? Also, since enabling SLI improved performance by quite a margin, I doubt that disabling it again would result in pleasing framerates ... Anyways, thanx to both of you. Maggi

All maxed out at 1080p, perfect 60FPS.
All maxed out at 1080p, perfect 60FPS.
That sounds like 2D only, in single GPU mode, I also see ~60fps at max settings, but 3D drops to ~30 in single GPU and ~35 in SLI However, the real framerate killer is that in-game AA, because once I disable it, the framerates shoot through the roof and the performance hit from enabling 3D is around 50%, which I consider as normal. When I enable AA, no matter if 2x, 4x or 8x, the performance hovers between one third and one quarter of the 2D framerates
https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/535666/sli/test-drive-unlimited-2-sli-profile/
Awesome, in 3D SLI, I also see those 2x ~60% GPU usage, it seems I need to change my compatibility bit from 0x42100105 to 0x42900005 ... :D Thanx a lot, Kingping1 ! I'll post back, what comes out of this.

Eh no, its in 3D I'm getting that. Its at that framerate and GPU or CPU usage isn't even high. I've had this before where certain games just drop off the face of the Earth for no reason in 3D. The original TDU for me does this, CPU and GPU usage are low, yet framerate is also terrible.

G'morning. After lots and lots of testing, the SLI compatibility tweak ended up as "0x42900105". Now I see both GPUs stay in full load when enabling 3D Vision and my framerates almost always stay above 80fps with occasional dips into the 70s, enabling VSync keeps 'em nailed at 60fps and reduces GPU usage by a few percent. Kingping1's suggested value of 0x42900005 did not help in 3D Vision, but only if it's actually disabled and I use the build in red/cyan 3D feature instead, so there must be a fundamental difference between those. However, performance is now right where it should be, so thanx to the both of you for your assistance. Cheers, Maggi
