Hi,

I’ve just bought a Onkyo receiver which is HDMI 1.4 compatible, the model is HT-S3300, it’s a new 2010 Onkyo release. Therefore it’s not in the compatible list for 3DTV Play receivers, but what’s the difference from the other Onkyo models, if it is HDMI 1.4 (3D/ARC) compatible?
it’s a 3D Ready receiver and supports HD Surround Bluray, supports Dolby True HD and DTS HD Master Audio. It says in the box: three HDMI 1.4 (3D/Audio Return Channel inputs). So I don't understand why it's not listed in the requirement list for 3DTV Play compatible receivers?

It’s the one I could afford, very good price, and 5.1 Dolby and DTS HD audio is more tha enough for my bedroom size, I definatelly don’t need a 6.1 or 7.1, 7.2 system.

I've just bought it and will only be able to try it out next wednesday as I'm out of my town. I have 3D Vision kit and a Samsung 3D Plasma (PN63C8000 US model) and I can't get 3DTV Play to work. I’m dying for 3DTV Play, can’t hardly wait to try it out. I am connecting my Sammy 3D Plasma using a mini HDMI-HDMI high speed cable directly to my PC’s GTX 480 card, but I only see HDMI 1.4 bluray3D in Nvidia control panel and all 3D options are greyed out when selecting my TV as primary display, no 3DTV Play logo. The Nvidia flying logo test works perfect in 3D though.

Do you think that 3DTV Play is going to work now that I bought this new Onkyo HDMI 1.4 receiver? I’m really hoping so, as I will connect my GTX 480 card to the Onkyo receiver and then connect the receiver to the TV’s HDMI input.
There’s no logic for not working, as HDMI 1.4 is what I needed for 3D. I can't see no difference between the Onkyo receiver I've just bought and the ones in the compatible list for 3DTV Play. The only difference are that others might be 6.1, 7.1 or 7.2 systems, but they all have in common what matters, which is 3D Ready and HDMI 1.4 support.

Anyway, I must have faith, some folks are using 3DTV Play with my TV and they are using HDMI 1.4 receivers, so maybe I can't get this thing to work now.
I read some comments here about folks that also have the Sammy 3D Plasma and were ablle to try out 3DTV Play using HDMI 1.4 receivers, but their model was in the compatible list, mine ain't. But I don't think Nvidia actually placed all existing HDMI 1.4 receivers in that list, do you?

BTW, I'm using drivers 260.89 WHQL and USB controllers drivers 260.63, and 3D Vision IR receiver connected to my PC, light dims green.

Thanks in advance for any info I can't get here.

i read in the other thread that you can play blu-ray in 3d. (If you can't you can try downgrading your drivers. (Also, if you haven't downgraded your drivers, (back to beta), then when you do, you could try 3Dtv play with those.)) You may just have to wait until they add-in the samsung's support for your TV. I doubt it matters that your receiver isn't on the compatibility listing page in the pdf, but you could just connect it to the TV directly to make sure. Alot of times devices won't be on 'compatibility lists' simply because they haven't tested the devices explicitly with the system/software themselves, but the devices still may work. If you can play blu-ray on your samsung, in 3d, then you could try to put the onkyo in between and see if that still works at least, for testing purposes. In all test scenarios, have you enabled/set-up the stereoscopic section of the nvidia control panel?
You may have already been aware of, or tried everything I've posted above, but I want to also clarify your issues for myself, before thinking further.

I could play 3D bluray in my Sammy 3D Plasma + PDVD 10 2213, with the beta drivers 260.89, since I've installed the WHQL I can't anymore. Go figure..
I don't care much about that cause I have a Samsung bluray3D player and I usually burn BDs a watch it, instead using the Power DVD 10. I also have Total Media 3, nbut it doesn't support HDMI 1.4 bluray3d playback yet.
Yes, I went through the tests in the Nvidia control panel, all in 3D, just fine, but at the end I read the message that My HDTV was ready for bluray3D and 3D videos, but that I need to upgrade to 3DTV Play. So, it's not there yet.

but since you already have 3dtv play, that sounds like a bug. Have you tried downgrading to the betas? (just specifically to test them with 3dtv play). You could try a complete wipe of the drivers, as detailed in the beginning of a post here, (using driversweeper), and then re-install the 260.89 whql, to see if that at least resolves your blu-ray issue, and if it does, I would definitely try the 3dtv once again. Also, please check your PMs.

It's not a bug that it's happening only with me, it's not like I have 3DTV Play. I don't know if you realized, but the Samsung 3D Plasma were left out of the 3DTV Play requirement list cause there's some kind of bug which is preventing those TV's to work with 3DTV Play. Andrew Fear, 3D vision product manager, are aware of this, he has even emailed me asking to send him some info about my TV and that they were going to review this and see if they could add those TV's to the compability list. But I haven't heard from him anymore.

Some folks that have Samsung 3D Plasma, PN63C8000, were able to make 3DTV Play work using a HDMI 1.4 compatible receiver. So, I was just wondering if it will work with my receivers, cause it's not in the compatible list, but it's a new 2010 Onkyo receiver 3D Ready that has HDMI 1.4 compability, and the only diffence compared to the other Onkyo receivers that are in the requirement list for 3DTV PLay, is if it's 6.1, 7.1, 7.2 or more power, but they all share in common HDMI 1.4. So, I don't understand why Nvidia hasn't added Onkyo HT-S3300 to the requirements list, if it's a 3D Ready receiver???

Cheers,
It's not a bug that it's happening only with me, it's not like I have 3DTV Play. But I haven't heard from him anymore.
i read in the other thread that you can play blu-ray in 3d. (If you can't you can try downgrading your drivers. (Also, if you haven't downgraded your drivers, (back to beta), then when you do, you could try 3Dtv play with those.))
That's got to be the most nested parenthetical asides I've seen in a while.

It could be happening with everyone, with just you, or with some people, any way it could still be a bug. I thought since you have 3d vision, you downloaded the 3dtv play beta, even though your TV is not listed as compatible. Yes, I know, for some reason or issue, nvidia hasn't gotten around to adding the samsung to the 3dtv play beta compatibility list, yet. Since the TV is hdmi 1.4, it is pretty similar adding the support for the other TVs, like the panasonic, and I think it will be added for the samsungs fairly soon.

Again, I think you present a worthy test case, and I would definitely check it out, because I hadn't known that some people were able to overcome the lack of official TV compatibility using an officially compatible AVR. Again, I think that if some devices aren't added to the list, it is because nvidia has not had a chance to test it themselves, rather than nvidia guaranteeing incompability with that device.
