Hello, I just made the acquisition of a DLP projector to be able to play 3d vision games like the witcher 3, and obviously to play movies.
First is freaking good and nearly perfect, with the Optoma GT1080Darbee with active vesa glasses I have no ghosting at all. But there come the big "but", I am subject to rainbow effect, not noticiable in 3d for now, it's unbearable when watching movies of any type.
I still have 25 days to return it, and I would like to exchange it for a TriLCD one, because this tech doesn't give rainbows artefact, but for every reviews I've red, panasonic, epson, every model have ghosting in 3d.
Does someone now something about a specific TriLCD 1080p model ( under 1600$ if possible) which isn't affected by crosstalk in 3d?
By avance many thanks ;)

You could try to switch to a faster color wheel projector. I find rainbow effect to be unbearable with the optoma's current entry level lineup, hd27/hd142x, hd29darbee and gt1080 darbee. I see rainbow artifacts even in 3d vision gaming. Im ok with Benq HT2050 however, which has double the effective speed for the color wheel for reducing RBE. I can still spot it if i really try but its not noticeable during normal viewing for me anymore.
I have also experience with epson lcd projectors and i do not recommend them for 3d gaming. I have had 2 tw5300's(hc2040 US model) and tw6700(hc3700 US model) which all had major crosstalk with 3d vision. Movies were more or less ok but crosstalk was easily spotted in there too, but due to having much less depth overall, it was more bearable with them.
My advice is to try benq HT2050, its overall much more refined projector with reduced RBE compared to similar priced optoma models.

Ok thanks, I was looking at Espon tw6600 (one review said "free of crosstalk" ...) but looking at what you write, it's probably not true. I'll try to look at benq even if it's dpl, but from the ones I have look at, they are only dlp-link.

Well I don't know about you, but what I do - is use 2 projectors - one cheap DLP for 3d vision and 3d movies, and one expensive 3LCD for 2d content :) Since all current DLP projectors lack so much behind top 3LCDs from sony, jvc, epson - its almost no comparision in 2d quality. And at the same time all 3LCD have so much ghosting in 3d, compared to 0 ghosting of DLP projectors. Even my epson 10500 laser pj is in my opinion almost unusable for 3d gaming because of ghosting. Some people say that JVC projectors have less ghosting, but still I doubt that they are useful for gaming.

That's a possibility. Do you advise a specific TriLCD model good in 2d around 1000€/$ with possible not too much input lag?
Also what do you think of this statement: in some forums I have red that some users of the epson tw6700 / hc3700 have bought rf glasses from another brand, and obtain better result in term of crosstalk compared to the official epson glasses?
Does-it seems possible?

if you have 1000 dollars budget get a mitsubishi HC5/HC9000D used or some sony model for 2D
if i were you and interested in 3D i would just buy 2 cheap lcd projectors with good input lag and lens shift and make dual projector setup. 2 projectors + geobox G-303 cheap polarizers and a silver screen or paint for it.
you get great light output, low ghosting, no flicker, no Rainbow effect, exelent 2D and 3D, and ok black level even if the projectors don´t have that good black, just leave the polarizers on during 2D session.
Later you can upgrade your filtters for more expensive Glass filtters and maby a better screen.
you get all @2k$ if you dont spend more than 1000$ on the projectors. and buy a cheap 200-300 dollar screen. or paint.

You'll have to do your research - as I said I opted for laser epson, previously I had panasonic PT-AT6000E. Both are great - for their great on/off contrast, good colors etc. But they are more expensive than 1k.
Speaking about other glasses - yes, with panasonic I had 3rd party glasses - and the nice thing about them is that you can modify timings - basically when each eye opens and closes. That gives possibility to reduce ghosting by opening abit later when lcd image already settled, of course at the expence of image getting darker.
Actually with 1k budget, having just DLP projector would probably be quite a good choice for you - maybe try to find one with less rainbow effect? I personally have benq 1070 as dlp, but probably I am not sensitive to rainbow effect - never have seen it...

wanna see it ?
just move your yes from left to right back and forth few times across the screen.
after that you will see it often.
if you don´t thank god or what ever !
Atleast for those who see it the difference you swap from 1 chip dlp to a 3 chip projector is like taking knifes of your eyes.

Well, I'm interested in both, despite the fact that 3d is perfect on my optoma (which I don't understand why I don't see Rainbows in witcher 3 ) it's un bearable in 2d movies or even static picture like my windows wallpaper.
So maybe I can put more 1000€ for 2d only pj added to the optoma, if I can't find any TriLCD model that satisfies both 2d and 3d to replace my optoma.
That's sad, but I can still try amazon return policy to try TriLCD models like epson or sony, but my guess is even with 3000€ models, I'll still get crosstalk on TriLCD.

I can tell you.
well not quite but it could be due that the The color wheel spins at different speed
at different hz. the bluray playback is 24hz. or is it 48 if active 3d is used..don´t remember
but usually there are different speeds in color wheel operation depending on the projector.
all other than dlp tech, dila, sxrd, lcd suffer from a little crosstalk.
allthough i would not get fixated only on crosstalk. It seems first it´s the only thing that matters
but further down the road you notice it´s only a part of the great viewing experience. sacrificing a little
to crosstalk can turn into adding some other factors of more enjoyable viewing and totally upgrade the viewing experience. don´t get me wrong, too much crosstalk is awfull and the less the better.
but for example too dark 3d picture is not good. bright 3d image makes the image more 3d and it´s more enjoyable to watch because of increased brightness. frame interpolation in my oppinnion is MANDATORY allthough i have not seen much of different iterations.

Yes I only tried games in 3d, i'll try bluray tomorow, maybe with different refresh time it will be different.
I'll take a look on BenQ W1110 which seems to be europe version of HT2050 in a shop. Is the dlp-link only not degrading the colors gloabaly in 3d with the red flash?

Glasses will block the red flash. Looks just as good as similar priced optoma projectors with ir glasses. I avoided dlp link only projectors for so long but they've come a long way now. Dlp link might be inferior still but ht2050 holds up well regardless. That could be because it has much higher measured native contrast and color brightness compared to optoma projectors. I know i prefer ht2050/w1110 over hd27 or hd29 darbee for 3d usage.

Well, sadly it seems that no shop around paris does have 3d glasses to test with TriLCD models, they have benq w2000 to test, i'll try tomorow maybe to ask for a 2d try on movie.
And more of it after a longer Witcher 3 play, I now notice rainbow in 3d too, and 3d bluray also. So I will return to Amazon very soon.
I would really like to think that rainbow are reduced in benq, but when I see how much often I saw them on optoma, I don't really have hope on this point.
For 3 TriLCD the only models where I saw reviews telling about less noticeable crosstalk are 2 Epson, 6600 or 9200. And some other with 3rd party glasses that reduce ghosting.
My guess is I will have to find TriLCD with less amount possible of crosstalk, either by the projector tech or with different glasses.

If your motice rainbows you gonna see them in all devices the Speed of colour whell should be thousand times for them not to show and thats physically not possible atleast with this tech.
The case is more like can you endure the rainbows.
I can watch rbe but i don't thinks anything blinking is good for you, same with active.
Though you can't actually see it you feel it atleast. No wonder there is eye fatigue if you watch blonking picture, no matter of its
With color wheel or active signal with blackframes between images to decrease crosstalk.
I would Believe for example Sony models have better crosstalk than Any LCD models as the crystal panels
Sxrd are advertised to be faster than regular LCD. And jvc have their LCos. You need to check out one content from all different panel
Category. The shop kepeers now days give a flying fuck about 3D as you at propably the only guy this year who asks can i get a 3D demo.

Also what do you think of this statement: in some forums I have red that some users of the epson tw6700 / hc3700 have bought rf glasses from another brand, and obtain better result in term of crosstalk compared to the official epson glasses?
Does-it seems possible?
if i were you and interested in 3D i would just buy 2 cheap lcd projectors with good input lag and lens shift and make dual projector setup.
Later you can upgrade your filtters for more expensive Glass filtters and maby a better screen.
you get all @2k$ if you dont spend more than 1000$ on the projectors. and buy a cheap 200-300 dollar screen. or paint.
