LG W2363D missing horizontal Resolution 1920 x 1080 becomes 920 x 1080 when in 120hz.
Does anyone else get half horizontal resolution when setting 120hz on 1920 x 1080?
I get nasty jaggies as each horizontal pixel is duplicated, missing the detail of every second pixel. The monitor reports 920 x 1080 @ 120hz on the OSD.
I get this when in 100hz to 120hz in resolutions above 1600 x 900 regardless of whether 3d vision is enabled.
If I print screen I get a full 1920 x 1080 image.
I tried upgrading the 1.5m HDMI-D HDMI cable to a 3m HDMI-I cable with ferrite rings but I get the same issue with both cables. The new HDMI-I cable is 3 metres long so at a push I may buy another smaller cable.
I am wondering if this is a monitor, Graphis card, firware or driver issue or maybe I have missed something in the settings (I have tried a lot of settings though!)
Interestingly 120hz does work in lower resolutions up to 1600 x 900
Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this.

As far as I know you need to use a dual-link DVI cable to get enough bandwidth for 1080p at 120hz.
I don't know why you are not using such a DVI cable.
Lower resolutions require less bandwidth and that is why they work across a hdmi cable.
Hi Flugan.
Thanks for your response. My mistake, I am using a 3 metre dual link DVI-D cable. I have also tried a single link dvi cable. I don't know why I wrote HDMI-I. Don't think that even exists!
Maybe I need dual link DVI-I instead of dual link DVI-D?
Thanks.

My gigabyte gtx 480 supports DL DVI-I but looking at the monitor it seems to only accept DL DVI-D cable.
I may try a shorter DVI-I cable unless there are any other suggestions.
Many thanks

look at the pics in the link. make sure you have a Dual Link cable
your monitor may not even accept a Dual Link DVI cable, some monitors have the analog pin holes blocked and are purely digital.
Just use the DVI cable which came with the monitor. I have the same monitor as you and have been using it without any issues. If you need a longer cable than the one that came with the monitor, I would check the exact specifications of the DVI cable and then get a longer one that matches with the ones that came with the monitor.

I bought the monitor used so no cable. The 3 meter cable is Dual Link DVI-D - (all the data pins and a single slot pin at the side without the four analogue pins around it). The monitor has the same in female form.
I have just ordered a shorter DVI-D cable which looks quality so I will if that works.
Many Thanks.

I should have mentioned that not only does it need to be a Dual Link cable, it also needs to have the appropriate bandwidth rating.
I needed a longer cable and bought the one from Tripp Lite
Just use the DVI cable which came with the monitor.
It was crap (maybe defective or a manufacturer error); it behaved like a single-link so I grabbed a dual-link DVI cable I had lying elsewhere and -- viola -- it worked!

My 1 meter DVI-D cable arrived today and I can confirm that it works at 120hz!
I still wonder whether the signal quality degraded over the 3 meter run or whether there are defective pins in there. Oh well, I'm happy it was the cable and not the expensive stuff that attaches to the ends of it!
Thanks all.
