Dead Island 3D Vision
  1 / 4
Just briefly tried it and it runs surprisingly well in 3D Vision. You can only set the refresh rate to 100hz from the in game settings menu, but you can set it to 120hz by going to \Users\[Username]\Documents\dead island\out\Settings and opening the Video.scr by using a text editor such as Notepad. Just change the value from 100 to 120 and then save. There are some issues with the 3D but nowhere near as bad as other Chrome engine based games. Depth and convergence are both adjustable. I will have to tweak it some more to get the best results and would love to hear others opinions and suggestions in getting this game to run in 3D Vision as well as possible.

Works very well in low depth, super high convergence. I usually don't like setting my games to low depth, but it looks amazing and you don't have to lower any settings. Otherwise I get lots of shadow issues on high depth, some effects are rendered at screen depth(dust blowing around), and there's a weird motion blur issue that is more prominent when using high depth ... it bugs my eyes out. There doesnt seem to be an nvidia profile, even though it's shown on the newest driver notes.

The game is freaking fun!!! Played it for 5 hours straight. If you like the open ended gameplay of games like Fallout or Farcry 2, you'll love this. /clap.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
I Highly Recommend!

Some more tweaks to get better IQ:

Enable AA: Find "FSAA" and change from "0" to "2" (or even higher, tried 2 and it works well)
Enable Anisotropic filtering: find "Filtering" and change from "Trilinear" to "Anisotropic"
Better view distance: Change FXFadeLevel to "0"

I'll try to tweak even more settings once I get around to it. Will report them here once I'm done.

pretty sure that it won't be great. Probably like Dead Space 2 where it's playable for some people and some think it's unplayable. I don't mind the low depth, high convergence technique for play-ability.

Hi

we already have a profile in R280 drivers, and its rated Poor. There are a lot of issues in the game.

the STEAM version is broken:
"We deeply regret that an incorrect version of Dead Island was inadvertently made available to players on Steam launch in North America. We are very sorry for any issues you may have experienced while playing the game - the correct, patched version will be made available to North American players ASAP."

Baaaah, lost all of my progress from last night. So irritating!

On top of that, the game now intermittenly pauses(freezes), for a second or two. /verymad.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':verymad:' /> unplayable as is. Maaan, and I was in such a good mood. /sad.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Anyway, here's some screenies for you guys to check out until the game gets patched again. I did realize that you do lose all of the character and indoor shadows when playing on high convergence though, but it might be worth it for some.

In the settings file u can turn off the shadows by adding " off" instead of "low".
Looks pretty good that way and u can use the normal depth settings - no need for the low depth/ high convergence.
