Frame sequential not an option? (Nvidia 3d vision player) Seeking technical info
Hi all, I did a search both on Google and here and I am not finding much. Does anyone know what I am missing?
I have an Acer H5360 DLP projector it rocks everything to do with 3d games.
I am playing around with the bundled "Nvidia 3d vision player" for DVD playback in 3d.
Testing on some random downloaded video files it seems to me that of the proffered "side by side/over-under/frame sequential/field sequential" display methods only frame sequential gives a passable 3d effect.
However, I cannot choose the "frame sequential" option when I pop in a proper DVD, it only seems to work on my downloaded files. The other options only seem to distort the image.

But I've read that Stereoscopic player will play frame sequential DVDs as well as the latest test release of Bino. The player from DDD TriDef may work as well.
Although you may need to use DLP Link glasses with these players, The Nvidia glasses most likely will not activate.
I recently read that Arcsoft's TMT5 does not support frame sequential http://www.arcsoft.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=10073&PN=1&SID=6d24ab7d-eaze-64zbfbdb-d67483d7-41fd8be3&title=frame-sequential-page-flipping-mode
Although, I would have sworn that I used it in frame sequential with a prior projector that I had.

I will try stereoscopic player! You said it should play frame sequential DVD's.. Am I to understand then that DVD's are created in a certain fashion that lends themselves to a certain format for 3d? Meaning that the video is shot in 'frame sequential' or something? The DVD that I am trying to play, doesn't obviously state anything like a format that I can see. Is there something that I should look for to discern whether a certain format (over/under or side/side, frame vs. field sequential ) would work with a given DVD or Blu-Ray?

I assumed when you were saying that you were attempting to play back a DVD in 3D you were refering to some of the old SEnsio 3D DVDs that were released some time back for use with E-Dimensional glasses or equivalent. http://www.ultimate3dheaven.com/se3ddvmastre.html
Some of those older 3D Movies were released in Analglyph 3D, is this what you have?
Are you talking about a 2D-3D conversion? If so, I'm pretty sure the Nvidia player does not offer that option.
For 3D Blu-ray playback I use my PS3 and the VP3D1 to convert it. I think the LG Blu-ray players output frame sequential and may work with a HDMI 1.3 PJ for 3D Blu-ray playback, although they might only work with HDMI 1.4.

It is The new Twilight DVD (Don't judge me, it's my mothers... though does that make it worse? lol)
In any case, only a few weeks on the market. The Nvidia 3d vision player http://www.nvidia.com/object/3d-vision-video-player-1.7.5-driver.html
It does on the fly side/side frame vs. field etc. With the 3d vision kit IR and glasses it does an almost passable job on some crappy downloaded files so my hope was that on a DVD or Blu Ray proper it would be even better. It seems to me from watching some avi files that frame sequential is the only option that works with them, though when I try to choose that option with the Twilight DVD, the option isnt available. All the others are, including mono, field sequential, side/side and up/down though they all seem to only distort the image while frame sequential left first gives a decent 3d playback. (only on the crappy avi files)
