Stereoscopic 3D Display Type Changes to Discover mode by itself??
Hey Everybody, I been having a weird problem for a while now. First off let me give some specs of my System: 1. Intel i5 4570K @ 4.3 ghz 2. Asus P8 Z68-V Gen 3 Motherboard Latest Drivers.. 3. eVGA 590GTX 327.23 Drivers.. 4. RocketFish 7.1 Sound card.. 5. Corsair Force Series 3 SSD Sata 3..Latest Firmware.. 6. 3 Acer X1261P NVidia Certified Projectors.. 7. Seagate Barracuda HDD 1tb Storage.. 8. NVidia 3D Vison 2 kit with Glasses.. 9 Windows Home Premium 7 64bit Not sure but should the Mode I set stay set permanently it sems to happen more after a rebood where it will switch from Acer X1261P 3D Vision Projector to Discover mode and it is quite annoying to have this happen all the time.. I was wondering if anybody elese is having this happen.. I tried Calling NVidia but they just give the usual suspects outdated drivers and such..... Well I tried the newer drivers after 327.23 and NONE of them Work in Surround mode.. I either get a reboot upon enabling Surround or I get 2 Blank Screens and NO Surround so those drivers are either not working with my Setup or they are broke somehow.. I would appreciate some input on if anybody has this happen or had this happen in the past and what can I do to fix it..?? Thank you..

I also have been having this happen for a while with various drivers. I am on the latest drivers now and still have it happen regularly. I have started disabling 3D when I am not gaming so I just double check the display before I enable. I do wish they could fix that and the issue where the monitor sticks in 3D mode after exiting a game. Though the last problem might be an issue with my monitor; I am not sure.

I'm not sure which version of Windows matters or not..... When it switches to discover mode checkout device manager and see what the display is recognized as. (you might want to peek in NCP and look as well) If the 3DVision driver does not detect a 3D display it will switch to discover mode. Turning on the display long before the system sometimes helps and if not just override the EDID in device manager. Problem solved.

Well that is not it as my display is still being detected for what it is.. in the Device manager and in NCP.. Not sure but I think something else is going on.. EDIT: I just tried several reboots and it went to Discover mode each reboot and Device Manager showed the correct edid info my Acer x1261P.. What could cause the discover mode switching like that??

Not sure, but I have this happen on my second game machine. Not always, but mostly. I think that it is related to the pyramid emitter, and USB somehow not initializing fast enough. You might try using a different USB port. Try rebooting with no emitter plugged in, and see if it switches to Discover. Then close control panel, plug in emitter, then check again.

Probably has to do with the emitter turning itself off (powersave?) and loses sync. If you pull the usb plug from the emitter and replug then it should be working again.

Every Reboot, I have to do same. I've had 3 emitters. First 2 didn't happen. Third does. Emitter doesn't seem to power on at start-up. Tbh its really not a big deal for me. I just replug it in when I reboot.

Happens to me too. When it happens, I immediately exit the game, go into NVidia control panel, and change Stereoscopic 3D display type back to 120Hz monitor. Then, everything is fine, until PC is restarted. Happened a lot of with my GTX 580 and 314.22 Currently, using GTX 260 with 332.21 and it no longer happens.

My 3DTV Play software switches back to framepacking mode from checkerboard mode all the time too, not sure if its related or not.

Bummer. I have had this occur occasionally, but not very often. Like maybe once every two months or something like that.

Well Finally I solved this mystery and got a workaround.. What is causing the Mode to goto discover mode is Windows Desktop Aero.. I switched my Desktop to Basic mode and it has NOT switched once after numerous reboots and restarts.. So the Workaround in Windows 7 is to run in Windows Basic mode.. Do NOT use Windows Desktop Aero..

Glad you got it figured out. This makes sense, as the few times it has happened to me was probably when firing up a game that disabled Aero. It only happens once in a blue moon, and I like Aero features, so I'll continue to use it and put up with it.
