Broken 3D bluray playback since 'fake' 3D driver introduced (unfixable)
5 / 10
I just got back into being 3D capable recently - picked up PowerDVD 14 over the weekend, watched Winter Soldier in 3D fine. No fake 3D, or having to bypass. Using a 120hz monitor, no 3DTV Play.
I did have DVD PassKey running, even though it's not needed for PowerDVD.

Yes, I believe this is because you weren't trying to use a 3D TV, which requires 3DTV Play. I, for instance, game on my 27" monitor, but watch movies on my 51" Samsung hanging right above it, which requires 3DTV Play.

I think it's just 3D TV Play users. We paid extra money for it not to work and them do nothing about it.
I would have bought two licenses if I knew it would be this good!
You buy a 3D display, a 3D gfx card put in your 3D bluray, but that's not enough, you have to pay to enable 3D playback! (Sorry broken 3D playback)
Nvidia truly are the Ryan air of graphic card designers.
It's like buying a tooth brush and toothpaste but having to actually pay more to brush your teeth, then finding out you have no teeth so there was no point in the first place.
You couldn't make it up!

I went on to twitter to complain to nvidia as none who works at nvidia ever wants to come on here (the truth must hurt too much or something) anyway they got back to me;
"@nvidiacc: @DUDE_TheDuke We are working with Cyberlink. One workaround is to set NVCPL res to be same res in PDVD."
I havent tried it get but there you go. A response. Hallelujah! The gods have spoken, us mere mortals have contact and words from the power at be!
I bet it doesn't work mind but still, I thought I would let you know.

I haven't tried it but I think they are saying to set your desktop resolution in nvidia control panel to 3D 1080p 24hz before playing a 3D bluray. I.e set your desktop to a 3D resolution before loading powerdvd.
3D 1080p 24hz for a bluray/ISO or 720p 60hz for an sbs mkv.

That obviusly doesn't work... already tried that :( so they still have nothing... was kinda hoping there was a way for powerdvd to use old nvidia driver if you copy it to powerdvd folder, and so to bypass the system driver all thogther, but unfortunatly I don't know how to do that, but it could be a temporary solution. I still think Cyberlink could actualy write their own 3D driver, that would just use hardware, similar to TriDef, or something, to work independant of nvidia drivers.

This isn't anything different than I have always done to get 3D TV Play to work with PowerDVD.

Hello everyone,
I'm so glad I finally found the reason for the unwatchable 3D Bluray on PowerDVD.
Too bad this isn't fixed yet.
Just to let you know,
I tried out Corel Win DVD. This seems to be working fine.

Thanks for the tip. Corel Win DVD truly seems to be unaffected by this issue. Can be used until the issue is fixed.
So far:
PowerDVD - does not work
Total MediaTheatre - does not work (and not supported any more)
Corel Win DVD - works OK

WinDVD does seem to work (choosing HDMI 1.4 mode), but PowerDVD is a better player overall, and im having some issues with audio passthrough on WinDVD. I pretty much gave up on 3D Vision being improved anyway, atm same issue is also present in gaming, it looks bad with same stutter, sadly despite having a pc worth about 1500$ my 150$ xbox360 plays 3D stereoscopic games better (like Batman ect...) How is 3D gaming on AMD cards if anyone has any experiance? Is it as buggy as nvidia's? TriDef dindt realy impress me either.

Hi all,
I've received confirmations from nVidia that they have localized the issue that was introduced in 337.88 and are resolving it now. We should see a fix soon. But don't panic if it isn't in the next beta or so, as we aren't being ignored. So some patience will be the key and then we'll be able to use the latest drivers.
