TaB / Sbs is only supported for DirectX 11 games and needs the 3D fix installed to work. I'm not sure if this mode still works when having unlocked "Optimized for Geforce" mode. I don't know. Maybe installing an EDID override changes the color profile. But just changing the model ID as I suggested in the step by step tutorial should not affect color profile.

It's because the LG OLED 4K TV is not "Optimized for Geforce" certified by Nvidia. LG has an reverse order for polarization. So by default you would have to wear the glasses upside down. So since I first ran the 3D fix manager, even after a system restart, without having the 3d fix manager on, the 3D mode support labels show up everytime I launch a game, even though 3d fix manager has not been started. Is this supposed to happen? Also does uninstalling NVidia drivers with DDU remove the 3D fix manager and associated settings? I might need to reinstall my drivers to get Arkham running again.

Yes, that's the default behaviour of 3D Fix Manager. Stereoscopic 3D is still on after closing the app (same behaviour as you wouldn't use the app at all). You can change this behaviour in "Settings" tab -> "Nvidia 3D Settings" tab. You can tick the option: "Auto disable Stereoscopic 3D when closing application" or "Auto disable Stereoscopic 3D when closing games" Uninstalling drivers via DDU resets the changes 3DFM made to the Registry.
Yes, that's the default behaviour of 3D Fix Manager. Stereoscopic 3D is still on after closing the app (same behaviour as you wouldn't use the app at all).

You can change this behaviour in "Settings" tab -> "Nvidia 3D Settings" tab. You can tick the option:
"Auto disable Stereoscopic 3D when closing application" or
"Auto disable Stereoscopic 3D when closing games"

Uninstalling drivers via DDU resets the changes 3DFM made to the Registry.

In prior testing, I found ghosting performance a little better in this native mode, also (the TV's remote may enable some type of 3D ghosting compensation that may not work well with game mode). 2. Any game with a regular 3D Vision fix can be played, not just recent DX11 games with updated 3DMigoto files. Unfortunately, the EDID override default view swaps left and right eyes. Both methods unlock "Optimized for Geforce" mode. Just asking out of curiosity. I don't have a 4k passive 3D TV anyway.

Did you try if there is a difference between installing the EDID override and changing just the model ID via CRU? Both methods unlock "Optimized for Geforce" mode. Just asking out of curiosity. I don't have a 4k passive 3D TV anyway.

I am trying to use whyme466's method but this involves some rabbit hole chasing I'd rather not do, compared to the straightforward method you so graciously described. I've spend half of yesterday day trying to set 1080p 60Hz 3D on my LG TV. It worked on 1080p 24Hz out of the box but low refresh rate is uncomfortable. Not possible to trigger the 3D effect in anything except native resolution, unfortunately, due to the technology behind passive 3D. The only options you have is if the game has resolution scaling (most don't have it, Witcher 3 included from what I see on the net), or to use the custom shaders section of 3DMigoto ini file, to run the game either in SBS/TAB modes, or to use the "upscaling" function. However these options were not available in earlier 3DM versions, might be the case with Witcher 3. And even if you can update the fix to the newer 3DM versions SBS/TAB introduce some horrible tearing, while "upscaling" does not work on most games.

Finally a prove that the CRU way for unlocking "Optimized for Geforce" works for this TV. People still think that they have to go the hard way with EDID overrides. I could only test the CRU method on an old Full HD TV which does not support 3D at all ^^. But it worked even on this. Concerning performance in 4K: as Zappologist wrote - try to use the game resolution scaling feature if available. The majority of games doesn't have this though so you should use the upscale shader of 3dmigoto. Here is a little tutorial how to enable upscale shader with 3DFM. thx for letting me know that the tutorial I wrote worked for you. Finally a prove that the CRU way for unlocking "Optimized for Geforce" works for this TV. People still think that they have to go the hard way with EDID overrides. I could only test the CRU method on an old Full HD TV which does not support 3D at all ^^. But it worked even on this.

Concerning performance in 4K: as Zappologist wrote - try to use the game resolution scaling feature if available. The majority of games doesn't have this though so you should use the upscale shader of 3dmigoto.

Here is a little tutorial how to enable upscale shader with 3DFM. So you can play e.g. in 1080p but let 3dmigoto upscale the game to 4K. So 3D still works and performance should be much better.

  • Select a game in the list you wanna play
  • Install the 3D fix and let 3DFM update the fix if required
  • Go to "Hotkeys" tab
  • Scroll down until you see the section "Resolutions and refresh rates"
  • Tick the option "Enable upscaling" and let 3DFM auto-choose 4K resolution for you
  • Click on the "Save" button
  • Play the game by clicking on "Play 3D" button


Keep in mind that the upscale shader might not work for all games. Also there are issues with the mouse cursor so you are adviced to use your Xbox controller instead. Witcher 3 is confirmed to be working with upscale shader.
