We don't have any other reasonable choices. The 3D is pretty stunning for what it is. I am very impressed, and that is not easy to do. In a year, there will be a huge selection of display devices (can you say Laser 3D Projector?), but for now, this is the early adopter alternative. I am not replacing my 60" TV with a 40". Also can't justify $3000-5000 for what the size I would want costs...

Worked flawlessly with Nascar 3D. I normally couldn't give a hoot about it, but i watched the whole thing. Rain delay & all . Some of those shots at the beginning were the best part. Actually very well done, worth seeing for all 10 of us out there ;)

We also had the option of switching angles, and watching the awesome camera moves there was equally as cool as the race itself. There were crashes, and replays of those crashes. Some very nice stuff. I hope it leads to more 3D Internet broadcasts.

Does this thing still suffer from scaling 1280x720 content to 1280x800? Is this true of both 60Hz and 120Hz, or just 120Hz? If you are to believe the product description page on Viewsonic's website it would appear it can "Show any true 16:9 content without distortion or scaling". That should include 1280x720 which is 16:9. I'd rather it show it with black bars and not scale the image.

Who's making the laser 3D projector? And you can bet it won't but sub-$1000 like current 720p choices.

I got my PJD6531w in the mail as a replacement for the Acer H5360 which has pretty egregious firmware bugs that make it unusable for my needs (the biggest being that ECO mode does not persist).
At any rate, I'm experiencing a few problems with the PJD6531w. The first is that the firmware update process does not complete properly as documented in their firmware update instructions. The new 1.47 firmware completes the download process to the projector, but it does not reboot or restart as it says it should. When I unplug the power cord and check the firmware version via the web GUI it still reports as being 1.02. Either the firmware was upgraded but doesn't change the firmware version to accurately reflect the actual version, or it simply didn't upgrade at all. This appears to be a common problem that Viewsonic has failed to give any workable solution for.

The other problem is that 16:9 material appears to be stretched to 16:10, despite the product description stating that it supports "true 16:9 resolution" with "no distortion or scaling". If that were true, why is my cable box, which is outputting 1280x720 (16:9 aspect ratio) via HDMI, being scaled to 16:10? I would expect black bars, or something similar, on the top and bottom to preserve the aspect ratio. Do other owners find this to be the case? How could they fail to live up to their own product description?
The third problem I am experiencing, which may be unique to my unit, is that there is a very loud audible high-pitched noise coming out of the projector. It is not the regular low-frequency fan noise. Despite being in ECO mode or not, the high-pitched noise is very loud and is audible even over the fan noise and TV sound. I have owned a couple of other projectors, and this is clearly not a normal sound. I will likely be returning my projector for a replacement and hopefully Viewsonic can send me one with the latest firmware.
Their customer service is awful and virtually non-existent. I have made them aware of the issues I've been experiencing and they have yet to reply in a week.

HERE IS SOLLUTION FOR SCREEN ASPECT RATIO FIX FOR PJD6531w WHICH WORKS :
You need to use control panel over network and select 16:9 from it, works perfect!!!
before that go to projector menu setup IP, mask, gatway hook up projector to your network PC
open IE type IP of projector, go control panel where you can setup anything you want...
I tested this using HDMI input didn't try RGB but it should work also...

I went into the control panel, via the network. Under "Picture," there is the same Aspect Ratio selector as in the projector menu. It has only 4:3 and 16:10. Where are you seeing 16:9?

Who's making the laser 3D projector? And you can bet it won't but sub-$1000 like current 720p choices.

I went into the control panel, via the network. Under "Picture," there is the same Aspect Ratio selector as in the projector menu. It has only 4:3 and 16:10. Where are you seeing 16:9?
