Horrible posterization with Samsung 2233rz + 3D Vision
Hi all, since getting this monitor I've had this odd phenomenon, and I'm wondering whether it's considered 'normal'.

Shows up on all highlights when 3D vision is enabled (like skies etc), even when watching 3D movies (again, highlights). This pic is taken through the glasses, but it's visible to the naked eye. It's on both left and right images.
It doesn't show up on the desktop at all, even when 3D mode is 'forced'... just actual 3D content.
So, what is going on? :( It's quite annoying.
I don't see how it's the monitor, as it displays everything else just fine. Could it be the drivers? Any fixes? It's been consistent despite various OS reinstalls, and loooads of different driver updates.

The Samsung 2233rz is the worst of the first gen 3d monitors. I know, I have one. That discoloration you see is normal for this monitor. Mine does the same thing in very bright areas in games. However, it never bothered me a lot, as it only shows up in certain instances. Maybe your monitor does it more than mine? I've been enjoying my 2233rz for about 3 years. Even though the 3d isn't perfect, it's decent in most games. But if you really hate that side effect, get one of the newer lightboost monitors. I plan on getting one soon with tax return cash.

I don't find it too irritating, but I wanted to make sure that there wasn't some kind of simple fix that I was missing out on. So thanks for clearing things up! :)

I also have had the Samsung 2233RZ monitor for 3 years and I have not noticed anything weird. Only thing is that supposedly it is darker than new ones, and of course a bit more crosstalk, but I have not tested the new monitors, so I can't really tell.
I have thought lately about buying a new monitor, but sincerely, I'm not sure if it worth, as new monitors are not 100% ghosting free, I do not need a bigger size than 22", it is not clear if HDMI 1.4 is a must thinking about future years, many people have problems, prizes are not good, etc, etc. And inclusively it seems that Nvidia support is becoming worse..., so I will wait.

I had that monitor also but of all its faults that was not one of them. I liked it when I had it and I was even happier to see it die. Now I have a new 1080p monitor

If you read old reviews of the 2233rz, you will see they usually saw the same thing. I reiterate though, MOST of the time, the 3d is really good. I've enjoyed the 3d on this monitor for years. I'm really only buying the asus 27" for lightboost and size. And I'm giving this samsung to my sons for their gaming pc. They'll love that. :)
