My H5360 pj has a DMD problem (some black pixels just in the middle of the screen, and every month I can see a new one). I have contacted ACER to send them to repair because the DMD is still in guarantee (5 years guarantee). I have received their response and they ask me to call a special (I have to pay) telephone number (no e-mail support), and contact them to send the pj and paying 31€ for the shipping, and they will answer me saying that maybe also I will have to pay for the repair.
I write this here because I am sure there are people with the same problem. Is it really fair to pay 31€ to send them a defective product to repair?
I have also to say that the process to fill the form can not be more nasty, you loose half of your life and if you miss something you have to repeat all the process again. I am really dissapointed with the ACER support so far..., I hope all will finish right.

I read an article where early models of DMD chips would fail from overextending. Texas Instruments designed retention straps to alleviate this problem and began to apply it to their existing chips.
Is your PJ one of the early models?
Yah, Texas instruments came out and said that they would cover any single-chip DLP module for 5 years.

I can only imagine what Acer's support website is like. Their consumer product website is absolutely horrible.

I have no idea, I bought it 4 years ago. I contacted ACER the last year for the same problem when I started to see black pixels, but I desisted because of the same reason (their conditions intimidated me). But the screen is getting worse.

Sorry to hear that, these projectors are great when working.
I also read awhile back that the earlier models had a problem with moisture, the DMD was not properly sealed. The stuck pixels are because moisture inside rusts the micromirrors. If this is your case, it's going to get worse for sure.
31€ to ship is not fair, but it's probably legal. Most companies make a point of not being a problem for warranty repair because they expect you'll buy in the future. Guess we know where Acer stands.
Depending on your country and laws, you might be able to pressure them to do the right thing.

There's a video on YouTube, the guy says it cost him $165 for a new chip. Hopefully Acer will take care of you.
