If you follow the hype, what was once Volta is now going to be called Turing.
The reason being, is that Volta relies on HBM2 memory for NVLink, which is expensive and in short supply.
So instead, they are using a different architecture and GDDR6 memory.
According to the latest rumors, we should soon see an announcement and can expect the new GPUs at retailers in June.

That sounds awful, currently 1070 is about the performance of the 980ti, so if next gen 1180 is about the performance of 1080ti, its a much smaller performance improvement for a new card gen. The trick here seems to be that it has lower power usage, which makes me think that they are now more interested in bitcoin miners than gamers, since power consumption is the number one issue with gpu use for mining.

All hail 3d modders DHR, MasterOtaku, Losti, Necropants, Helifax, bo3b, mike_ar69, Flugan, DarkStarSword, 4everAwake, 3d4dd and so many more helping to keep the 3d dream alive, find their 3d fixes at http://helixmod.blogspot.com/ Also check my site for spanish VR and mobile gaming news: www.gamermovil.com
The 50% speed boost from 1080 to 1180 at 1440p seems like a nice figure.
Probably a good replacement for my GTX 980. The 980 has pretty poor VR performance comppared to the 10xx carrds as well. With 1080 Ti costing more than €1000 where I live this seems promising.

Thanks to everybody using my assembler it warms my heart.
To have a critical piece of code that everyone can enjoy!
What more can you ask for?
The performance per watt has gone up, but keep in mind that Nvidia changed architecture mid stream. So Turing might suck and be a filler until next gen GPUs?
It's a different die, supposedly named GT104, but there's no info on it, just rumors. It might just be the previous gen chip altered.
