It is, the only difference is that the 295 gtx has 480 Streaming processors compared to 432 streaming processors on the 260 GTX's. The cool thing about these video cards is that they utilize near 100% of there GPU load on almost every game, which the 295 GTX doesn't. That is the big difference. If your GPU's are only using 80% of there processing power than you are losing performance.

If you don't have EVGA precision, Download it and run it on another monitor if you have it and look, see how much of your GPU is actually being used!

Here are my Benchmarks for FarCry 2 Benchmark, Full 1920X1080 with everything on Ultry High. My average Frame Rate is 62. I guarantee this is as good as any 295 GTX at stock settings!!!!

Notice how the 295 GTX does a huge dip at 1:28, that's where the GPU LOAD DROPS TO LIKE 50%, it's a conspiracy!!!

That's whatzup and for a fraction of the price!!! GAME ON!!!!!

Also 1 problem with dual GPU's in a single card slot is that they only run at 8x each.

If there is a 16x slot, first GPU runs at 8x and second GPU runs at 8x = x16

If you have a x58 board you can run 2 x 260 GTX's in SLI with full 16x support with each card same with a 275 GTX SLI

I know there isn't a huge performance increase in having more bandwidth, but it still does have an increase in performance

Its not a thought but a fact that the Gtx295 is essentially two Gtx275's in Sli in the same package.

Hardware specks for for the Gtx275 exactly match the specks given for the Gtx295 halves, even the single pcb version is essentially Two Gtx275's..

Your thoughts on what is the better card hardware wise, based on performance in game benches like Tom has, is inaccurate. It is commonly know in the SliZone community that you get better performance off of two single cards in SLi compared to a Gx2 card like the 295. Your point on the bus speed has something to due with it but not really by much as the slots are 2.0 and even a 295 cant saturate its limits.

The 295 should have had 1Gb of memory per half instead of the 896, Thats why everyone still wants the GTX280/285 in dual and 3-way SLI over the 295 in dual or quad Sli.

Ok, they are close to the same card, but the 275 gtx has higher standard clock and memory setting rates... Dude, I'm not trying to get in a argument with you, but with the right hardware, everytime a 275 gtx in sli will win in performance....

Anyway this is all off topic, these 260 gtx's in Sli give amazing bang for your buck. Better bang than the 295 gtx prices that have skyrocketed in price, due to consumers who spend too much for Nvidias flagship product.

Right on my friend, you are %100 right.

OP, if you are gonna try and look like you know what you are talking about you could at least get the model numbers right..

It is not 295GTX and 260GTX ... They are properlly listed as:

GTX295 and GTX260 c216 ... Nvidia does not put the numbers first and the letters last anymore, it's been that way for quite a while now.

Secondly, most of us already know that the GTX295 is not a fantastic card to have, but to go ahead and spend $360.00 (2 x $179.99) on any combo of GT200 series GPUs is not a smart move as GF100 aka Fermi is due out next month. Most of us are salivating to get or hands on Fermi and leave behind GT200, at the very least any of you out there looking to buy new GPUs should wait until after Fermi's launch as pricing will be driven down on all existing GT200 product due to it being last gen.

it would be nice if they come out next month. I, myself have money saved for the launch. The Gf100 (fermi) chipsets has been dealing with heat issues problems. I highly doubt this card will come out in a month. If it does, sweet. I'm ready to jump on the fermi bandwagon, however I don't want to go over a month without 3d vision
I can't wait for the revision on 28nm for Fermi !
Sadly I'll be using these under performing Gtx280's and hopefully they can still play the console ports till then /thumbsup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Completely agree the GTX295 is indeed just two 275s so the OP is wrong on this for sure. The performance difference is matter of design and has always been the case when comparing 2 in 1 cards vs duals in SLI so that is beyond the point.
In any case, enjoy your cards, I enjoy my 295 a lot since it OCes pass 285s speeds with ease. ;)
