Best s3D driving game?
  1 / 2
I hear good things about Dirt3, so i will give that a whirl.

What are peoples opinions about what the most impressive 3D driving experience is?

Im not particulary a fan of track racing, i absolutely love the old "outrun" forumula, but driving games tend to edge towards the over technical and not so fun side nowadays.

Would love a new version of outrun or chase HQ to come out!

ahh the old days.

I recommend......

Burnout Paradise

NFS Undercover
NFS Pro Street

Fuel

And, apparently OutRun 2006: Coast 2 Coast works really well.(I haven't tried the game, just a comment made in a forum)

Also read though this topic, lots of good suggestions made in regards to games to try.

Having a lot of fun with Dirt 3 and Test Drive 2 Unlimited. Both games are perfect in 3D. I had a lot of issues with Burnout, maybe they fixed that.

burnout is the most impressive of the arcade racers but you need a solid config to avoid stuttering...i had to go for a sli (2x gtx 460) config to make it smooth in 3d @ 1024x768...
of the simulators type dirt 3 is by far the best..the aspen rally cross in the snow in 3d is one of the greatest gaming moments i ever had!

happy racing in 3D!!

bought DIRT3 off steam and once i finally got the monitorsize fix working for it, it is spectacular. very impressive, but also very technical. think im gonna buy a Logitech G27 to see if that makes it feel a bit better.

I really like the look of test drive unlimited 2, but a video i saw had the shadows all rendered at screen depth. that is a complete nono if thats the case becasue i found it really distracting.

is this something you can turn off?

Will give burnout a try too... any issues with that one?

thanks

These are the racing games I play and are all good in 3D and a blast to play: Burnout Paradise Ultimate,FlatOut Ultimate Carnage,Fuel(and the first 2 Flatouts),Juiced 2 HIN,OutRun 2006 C2C,Sega Rally,Dirt 2,Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing,Track Mania Forever(free)& United(buy),Clutch and Pure. Plus dont forget about all the Emulators that work with 3D vision which will give you a nice collection of old school and new racing games(nintendo64,wii,playstation2). Peace

The original Test Drive is perfect in 3D, it also works with Track IR.

Good call shotgun10111 Track Mania Forever and United are great, if you have steam just do a search for "trackmania" on the store page. Here's a link for the community page which include heaps of tracks.

I know it's your topic Craggy but if anyone is interested in sims, GTR Evolution and rFactor also work in 3D and with Track IR.

I didn't play Dirt3 because I heard that the steering is just like Dirt2: Too much arcade-feeling. I'm more the simulation fan.

If you wanna have a real hard rally-simulation you should give the old Richard Burns Rally a try. This one is a real challenge and works beautiful with 3D-Vision.

Graphics of TDU2 are fine. No shadow issues. The latest patch has builtin-S3D-support but the game was working beautiful with 3D-Vision before allready.
But I had much more fun with TDU1. Handling of TDU2 is more arcade-like and vegetation-graphics on Oahu have been better in TDU1.
TDU2 looks a bit empty on Oahu compared to TDU1 where have been a lot trees and so much grass.

Burnout Paradise is a pure and funny Arcade-racer. If you turn SSAO off in game-options, you will have a smooth gameplay with 3D-Vision at 1920x1080.

Picked up TDU2 on steam over the weekend after reading here that it had good S3D support. I really enjoyed TDU1 and I have really enjoyed TDU2 so far also. I've only put about 5 hours into it but the S3D effect is really good with no graphic anomalies that I could see. The convergence does appear to be locked however. As for the game itself the driving is a little twitchy but still perfectly playable. I can tell that a lot of energy was put into the social "Sim" aspect of the game more so than the driving engine itself. That does make for an interesting overall gaming experience but it would have been really good to see a driving engine as refined as something like Forza in this games environment. That would have really made it a killer product. Still I would definitely recommend it for the S3d quality.

If you do get it then be aware that you will probably have to hit "alt-enter" the first time you run the game in order to force it into full screen mode. After that you will need to manually change to 120hz in the option menu. The next time you run the game it should automatically go into full screen.
