What are the best games for 3d driver? Am I missing anything?
  2 / 3
I've played a few games of UT2004 with others wearing shutterglasses. Most usually with Pheer from stereovision.net.

If all agree to play in stereo it works wonderfully. Any disadvantage is shared, and the experience enhanced. I know the maps that work well with stereo. Some are not suitable. Those that are extremely contrasted, and those that use false sky boxes. If any stereo-head would like, I can PM them the list I've compiled. Even better, we could arrange a game or two.

One map that really stands out for me is KillBillyBarn. An outdoors map that has a good depth for the sky, and a good level of contrast (unlike Tokara Forest). Even is 2D this map is a riot. If you've not seen this one in stereo, you've missed out.

Yes, it was also refreshing to see that in the future, their monitors will be autostereo!

My favorite games are all old because my computer that is connected to a CRT is only a P1000.

In no particular order:

HalfLife 1
AVP 1 (some of you have seen me mention this one before, as a human, it's the scariest game I'v ever played)
AVP 2
Thief Series
Hitman 1 & 2

For demoing the technology I always show Nascar Heat because it just looks so good and it bright with minimal ghosting.

Hello!

My opinion ist that Doom3 is not that good in Stereo. The heavy lighting differences in the levels (spotlights in dark areas and shadows) produces more double-images through my 3D-glasses. A game with less contrast on the screen seems to be more suitable for 3D-viewing.

My favourites are
- Lock On Modern Air Combat ("Lomac")
- MS Flightsimulator 2004 - A Century Of Flight
- MS Combat Flightsim 3
- Fia GTR
- Grand Prix Legends
- Colin Mc Rae 3 / 4
- Operation Flashpoint

Flight sims really are the best games for 3D IMHO - without 3D, I can't play them as I keep smashing into the ground not realising how low i'd got, but in 3D, you always know, and panning around the coc.kpit looking at the dials with the landscape distant out the window is amazing. Can't get enough of Combat Flight Sim 3 at the mo!

I also bought LOMAC (Lock On), and have played it a couple of times. The 3D effect is even better BUT (big but) it keeps crashing after about 5 minutes, reboots the computer, nasty. Also, I get no sound in the game at all... :(

Crimson Skies would be great, but I've also found it crashes to desktop regularly.

Other than flight sims, UT2004 is fantastic in 3D, and I play just as good if not better. Neverwinter Nights is gorgeous too, the objects look so real, shame the text is all screwy on my system!

I have yet to try NFS-U (haven't yet installed everything since switching to XP to get these glasses working in the first place!)

How did you manage to get San Andreas working in stereo? Please list the exact settings and fixes you used to get rid of the post processing problem.

Vice City does look very good, even though the lights are at screen depth (2D).

Yeah me too please. Ever since installing R.O.E. the shadows have been buggy in stereo. If you have tips about the geme, let us know.

About DOOM3 and dynamic Shadows:
To FIX shadows you must enter those lines in D3 console (ctrl + alt + ~):
r_useShadowVertexProgram "0"
And now - shadows will good /thumbup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

To disable PostProcess effects in game(they come picture to MONO), enter:
r_skipPostProcess "1"
NOTE: settings will disabled after game restart;
To autoload those, create "autoexec.cfg" in directory {Doom3installDirectory} / base
and just add those two lines in this file.

To see BAD shadows and GOOD shadows you can with pictures:

i wouldnt call 71 driver solid, i've had many times sytem hang usp, and guilty was display driver. Much more stability was with new beta 75.xx driver, but still no 3d stereo driver ...

Yes.. I have, although it's a bit tricky. Check this thread for the process.

Here my impressions:

- Richard Burns: very good with DXTcontrol.exe.
- Nascar Simracing: perfect 3D & TrackIR (you are really into the car).
- Grand Prix Legends (GPL 2004 Demo)
- F1 Challenge 99-02
- Mafia
- GTA San Andreas (need to use Stereo Mode "enabled" in driver, not enabled by key).
- Half Life
- Doom 3
- Hiddeen & Dangerous 2
- Max Payne 2
- IL2 FB: perfect, but a big problem with airfields and trees (I see doubled).
- IL2 PF: same problem + big problem with the new clouds.
- Ghost Recon: F12 produces an error.

I have two important questions:

1) Problems with HUD elements (two images in weapons information, life information, etc): Max Payne, Doom 3, etc. Crtl+19 and F10 (Backplane and Screen Depth) doesn´t work for me, I see no effect in these keys in any game. Anybody uses these keys for anything usefull?. I only use Ctrl+F3, F4, F5 and F6 (and ctrl+F7 to save, ctrl+F11 to frustum, ctrl+12 to laser, and crtl/alt+g to gamma).

2) I must remember the problems with IL2 series because a love this games. Any solution?.

Hardware:
Asus V9999 TD (Nvidia 6800 TD 128mb)
Asus p4p800
CPU Intel p4 2,8
2x512 ddr400 Kingston
Sblaster live 5.1
eDimensional glasses
Monitor AOC 17" 85hz maximun (I must kill it someday).

So, the one of the best CRT monitors for stereo - Mitsubishi Diamond Pro 2070SB (22'') - take "only" 85Hz too, but with 2048x1536 resolution ;)

Or you really have 85 Hz at 640x480 on your monitor as Maximum???

My monitor gives me 85 hz maximun at any resolution, and only 60hz at 1280x1024. I always play with shutter glasses at 1024x768@85hz (with flicker noticeable, but playable).

Yes, I´m looking for a better monitor. This Mitsubishi 2070SB gives 85hz with 2048x1536, but I imagine that with lower resolutions will give more than 120 hz.

Can you post here the maximun resolution that gives in the most common resulotion used to play (1024x768, 1280x1024, and 1600x1200)?.

Is there any inconvenient if you use the highest refresh rate of a monitor?.
I have read something (I´m not sure) about 3D ghosting in some monitors using very high frequencies, a problem that I don´t have with my 85hz limit. Is this really true?... if a monitor can give 160hz at 1024x768, is possible that show ghosting?. I suppose that the perfect refresh for shutter glasses is something like 160/170hz (85x2)... if there is no ghosting and no monitor damage.
