How to fix/disable shaders in games(DLL,guide and fixes).

Thanks for the update HeliX! I have made it a habit to just download and re-install your fix every time before I play the game at this point - at least until you say you are done tweaking it.

@eqzitara:
Your ME2 fix went from not working to not even downloadable. The link to the zip file is broken.
Still looking for for a decent fix for ME2. 3D crosshair is most important to me, but the old fix on the blog had too many side effects.

@Helix:
No doubt you are busy with ME3, but do you think you can spare the time to work your magic with ME2 when you are done?
It sure would be nice to have made the whole triology "-=HeliX=- Vision Ready", don't you agree?

Regards, StanTheMan

@Stan The Man

I am currently finishing my Mass effect 2 game before i play to 3. My advice is use tridef. It's almost perfect except for hud, but hardware intensive because it renders 2 times from Nvidia 3d driver and another 2 times again from Tridef (maybe don't get as many FPS as with only Nvidia 3d vision method)... i have at min depth on nvidia control panel, using tridef settings for corvengence and depth. So, use tridef. I think there is a 30 days trial. And choose Direct3d output method on settings.

I reinstalled the game,downloaded the file, and tried the fix..it works. Try again here http://helixmod.blogspot.com/2012/02/mass-effect-2.html .Crosshair removal->laser sight guide is there and has been there since you asked for new fix. No idea what site you are on. Clear your cache/cookies I guess.I even included file to remove crosshair on the page to make it easier.
If you are interested in making mass effect 2 more compatible please follow guides that will help you do so or use tridef(you can stack 3d vision's laser sight fix with tridef) instead of requesting. No one is taking requests at this time. Please be considerate to helix. Asking him to fix a game is a large undertaking and he does not ask for anything.

@future Mass Effect 3 purchasers.
Don't buy from origin... I bought on creditcard, then instead switched to paypal since I had money on it and wanted to pay in advance. Contacted them to cancel the one on cc. Then next day confirmed that they cancelled it. Got two charges on release for both and took 3 hours in queues alone to get them to resolve it and 4 seperate conversations with outsourced employees. Where I tell them to cancel whatever one is not attached to my account. Now I get two messages saying that both are cancelled and to expect a refund. I pray this doesnt stop my game from working.....

Hey, I was poking around and found this thread. I posted a question under the Amalur thread, but I could tell from reading the first couple pages of this, that it was the wrong place to post it.
---
@ eqzitara
I understand your desire (expressed on the first couple pages of this thread) to not flood Helix with requests for people's pet games.
I have a pet game (Heroes 6) that I think just needs shadows and/or shaders fixed or turned off. The game doesn't let you turn them off.
I am willing to try (I'm a noob at programming) to apply the fixes myself, as this is a niche game that maybe none of you have interest in. I have followed the entire series, so I am serious about a fix. I pretty much only play 3 or 4 games for years at a time, so this is a huge chunk of my library off limits to the 3D I invested in.

The problems look pretty much like Amalur did before Helix's awesome fix. Another minor annoyance in Heroes 6 is the Health Bars being out front, but the shadows/shaders is the biggest deal, making it hard to look at.

Is there a program, like Debug, that I can try to use to fix it myself? It would be great if someone more proficient could whip out a fix, but I am a beggar, so will take what help I can get in any form.

@Purefun
We are very happy to help anyone willing to put work into fixing a game up just not the "fix my game for me". It also makes people reliant on people who are willing to put work into it. When they can be helpful to community by being willing to learn. Probably around a thousand games can be improved(and I am sure Helix would like to actually play games sometimes instead of just fixing them). Not to mention the person doing the fix for someone has to own the game or /pirate.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':pirate:' />. Then if the person offers to pay for it, it becomes a job. Some can simply have a shader removed(shadows) and it will make it playable such as your game.

[FIRST PART]Download this DEBUG FILE. Disabling shaders such as shadows is VERY EASY. Basically you cycle through the shader using this GUIDE. I have ZERO prior programming language knowledge, probably took me 30 mins for first game download to success.

[READ THIS AFTER YOU DO FIRST PART because it may be to much to take in at first and is easier to understand once you did first part]Health bars is a bit trickier .Find the shader responsible for health bars and we will work something out if you cant figure out how to do it. Basically using this guide HERE We can make the health bars 3d then push into depth at a certain %. http://helixmod.wikispot.org/How_To_Make_Your_Own_Fixes see the 2d->3d section for more references.(This applies as long as VS_3_0 or PS_3_0. When you save the shader using the debug. It will be the top most line of code. Its a bit trickier if it isn't. If you find and disable shadows I will probably do that for you while explaining how or someone else maybe).
Contact me if you get any results. Would be happy to add it to web-site.

Thank you so much.

I will work on it over the weekend probably. I will let you know when I succeed (or maybe prove a total dunce).
Actually, I jest somewhat. I can actually catch on quick most of the time, but I have to do something to learn it best. It is harder for me without the whole hand holding thing, but it sounds like DEBUG makes it pretty simple.

As You already made a fix for the 2D icons in Skydrift I wanted to ask if it is possible to make a similar fix for Microsoft Flight? You can download the game for free: www.microsoftflight.com

ty for the link. Not sure if you want to move to make 3d and move to depth and make transparent or just make transparent. To make a 2d object 3d then push into depth.(see 2d->3d section).It gets a bit different depending on if its a vertex shader or pixel shader to make it transparent(see transparency section). This applies as long is its ps_3_0 or vs_3_0(has to be rewritten if it isnt.see appropriate section). If you cant figure it out just grab the shader with the debugger and someone will most likely be able to help you out. http://helixmod.wikispot.org/How_To_Make_Your_Own_Fixes

@Dorkirt
Thanks for the tip about Tridef. It fell flat though.
Downloaded the latest version, installed and activated the 14 day free trial.
Ran it and then it said my trial had expired. So here I am wanting to play ME2 in 3D, but cant.

@eqzitara
Thanks for your efforts.

Is IZ3D anything worth trying with a GTX580 card and 3D vision? (120 Hz screen)

It does that if you've run it before. They may give you another go if you email them unless their policy has changed.

Just played Insane 2 for a few hours with the fixes...You have to stop and play this game for a while it is serious fun. The later levels and cars are extremely well detailed even on 720p. The railroad level is very well designed. Capture the flag against CPU opponents gets wild.

Thanks again!

@BLOGSPOT/BLOGGER AUTHORS
You can post any fixes you have again. I found a way to make me3 sticky(I really should of thought that in first place, sorry. I just rigged the date). It will be stickied till its no longer WIP. Questions or whatever contact me via PM. If you are someone who is not author yet and have something ready contact me via PM as well and I will get you set up.

I put the debug dll into the folder where the application is for Heroes VI. I started the game and used the numpad controls listed in the instructions.
Nothing happened.

I only pushed numpad 1, 2, 4, and 5; as these were the keys listed to disable next/previous shader or vertex shader. I understand the instructions as you simply boot up the game, press 2 and 5 to cycle through each shader disabling it. Each one that is helpful you then press 7 or Home to save it to the skip list.

Correct?

I just do all this in game?

I did find mention that a profile has been added for this game. How do you find/apply profiles?
Would a profile make all this unnecessary?
