Descent 3 and 3D Vision not working?
That's great news, I would have bought the Crysis bundle (was on sale) over the holidays had this news came earlier. How does the water look in S-3D? I downloaded the demo but it didn't work for me before. Could you post a S-3D screenshot? I'm interested in seeing how 'worse' can it be.
no problem, here they are: http://www.insaner.de/pics/crysisjps/ watch it with the 3D Vision Photo Viewer (or try a converter to get jpgs out of it).
Water looks fine but framerate is so low (guess about 5fps) that 3D impression somehow is messed up und doesn´t really look well or maybe it s the parts that are in the shadow?

Edit:
but getting back to the topic I would like mention a link to Descent BB Forum http://www.descentbb.net/viewtopic.php?p=255287#255287 where 3D and Descent III are discussed.

Appreciate your uploading the pix.

Unfortunately, just by looking at them for less than a few second gave me an enormous eye strain and headache. No details are in focus, double/ghosting in every polygons.

you re right, something is wrong. Check the screenshot link again I put another folder in it called "new". Inside I put more samples with and without water and low and highest details. Sometimes it looks well.

Again unfortunately, I see the same S-3D quality as that of the demo, quite in line with what other gamers reported of the full game. IMO, the game doesn't quite get there yet to provide clean details, eye-strain free, adequate depth, relative ghost free, acceptable convergence (solidity of objects) images, in short, the immersive feeling associated with S-3D gaming is not there, instead it constantly reminds me of how un-immersive the game is. The eye strain is really powerful, I'm still reeling from the aftermath.

Again thanks for uploading the pix. Much appreciated.

for me crysis does not have any 3d effect- it just blurs the picture and looks terrible- it does run the game without crashing but in my experience was a waist of time- oh ya- plus the 3d glasses would not work in any higher resolutions. but who cares! lets get descent to work! this game is the most challenging FPS multiplayer in existence.

System:

Intel I7 920 overclocked to 4ghz

Asus Rampage Extreme II

2 Ge-force 480 in SLI

GTX 295 PhysX Card

12gb ddr3 2000mhz ram

Intel SSD in RAID 0

BR RW

1000w Sony surround sound

NVIDIA 3D Vision

3d displays tested:

Mitsubishi 65" DLP 3d HDTV (good old 1080p checkerboard since 2007!!!)

Panasonic VT25 (nice 2d but I returned it due to cross talk)

Acer H5360 720p on 130" screen (the best 3d)

23" Acer LCD monitor (horrible cross talk- sold it)

Samsung 65D8000
On a related note, does the old driver 91.31 work with DLP TV or with the newer LCD (120Hz 3D ready), anyone?
Well, the odler drivers only work with older glasses/emitters which pull the sync signal from the (analogue) VGA output... So that will render the 120Hz displays unusable which have a single (DualLink) DVI input only. They also do not output checkerboard which is the signal current DLP TVs do require so a no-go here also. You could get these to work however on a DVI based TFT (including the 120Hz displays) if you hack a DVI cable to derive the sync signal from the DDC data line as per here. Your card will need to fulfill 2 requirements for 120Hz panels though: a dual link DVI output AND compatibility with the old drivers. Post your results in a new thread if you succeed!

@Quatro: It's time for me to say bye for good to those old games then /wave.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> . Too much work and there are tons of new games I got that I haven't touched yet.

So am I right in thinking that if I bought some E-Dimensional 3D glasses, used my CRT, bought an old 7800 or something, and installed XP, and used those old drivers - I could run DX6 games in stereo, assuming they are listed as working? TBH I would be very tempted to do that if it'll work since I really want to play System Shock 2 and both Thief games in S3D (they are listed as working), and it wouldn't really cost that much.

Yes with one caution, your CRT has to be able to run @100Hz or more at the desired resolution(s) otherwise it will cause horrendous eye strain and headache and will turn you off from S-3D for a long time. I used to run those old games with 5800, 6800, 7800, 7900, even with 8800 GTS (with some registry hack which can be googled).
