BUG REPORT: 3D-Vision-Discover can't be enabled on Laptops! Nvidia - Please fix this!
1 / 4
I'm using this old thread now to record my problem with the Anaglyph-Mode on my Dell XPS M1730.
I really hope that 3D-Vision-Discover will be integrated into notebook-drivers soon.
EDIT: I found a cheap Hardware-solution to get past this stupid message: "This laptop's panel is not qualified for 3D Vision"
You will need a 24+5pin DVI-plug and 3 75Ohm resistors. The 3 resistors must be connected to the analog-color-signals against Ground.
This works with an old VGA-connector too if your laptop only has VGA-output.
When connected to the laptop it will find an Analog-Display-Device. You will need to set the Displays to Clone-Mode and set the Analog-Display-Device as Primary.
Now you will be able to pass the 3D-Vision-Discover-Wizzard.

I installed the 195.81 Notebook driver together with the 195.81 stereo driver on my Dell XPS M1730.
But I still get the message "This laptop's panel is not qualified for 3D Vision" when I try to enter the 3D-Setup-Wizzard.
I know that the panel will never work with the Nvidia-shutter-glasses, but the simple anaglyph mode was ever working fine.
But since 191.03 I get this stupid message.

Sorry, I know that this isn't an official Nvidia-Support-Service but there isn't any other at all  .
This seems to be the only way I can make this bugs public.
Ok, maybe I should have used one of the older threads :"> .
But its frustrating to see how customers are ignored /blarg.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':/' /> .
I updated this thread today with my latest experiences.
A lot of people were asking me how to get the Nvidia-3D-Vision Shutters working on laptop ABC... .
I don't have the 3D-Vision-Set so I can't say something about it, sorry :"> .
For the moment I'm only interrested in the Anaglyph-Mode(Red/Cyan) but the latest drivers prevent me from enabling it :'( .
I thought that 3D vision only works with 120Hz displays. I'm pretty sure your laptop doesn't have a 120Hz refresh rate. I haven't heard of any laptops that have this. So, unless you have your laptop hooked up to a different display that is 120Hz capable, it simply wont work.
You should check this out!

3D-Vision-Discover is a simple Red/Cyan-Anaglyph-Mode to show Stereo 3D. It was working all the time with the older drivers (190.38 is the last).

You are very active at the forums again. What about this bug?
Hi
We currently dont allow 3D Vision Discover on laptops. Is this something you want?
Is there a mommentary solution like overriding a text file or a registry entry? Because I doubt that nvidia is going to release a new driver version for notebooks soon.
Thanks
Well, an answer is better than no answer.
I can't imagine why you don't allow it but you may have your reasons.
You can use the modded desktop driver 190.38. Its working fine for me.
If you attach an external display to your laptop you can use the newer drivers as well in Discover-Mode. When you switch the external display to primary in clone mode you will have Discover-Mode on the internal Laptop-Display too.
