Nvidia interested in DTI glasses free stereoscopic 3d display, 3d vision supported

Dimension Technologies Inc. (DTI) has been making waves recently with their new glasses-free stereoscopic 3D display prototype. It's a work in progress, but their goal is to offer stereoscopic 3D viewing without the trade-offs of sweet spots, resolution loss, cross-talk, glasses, etc. They were a big hit at Immersed and SIGGRAPH 2014, and are working on the next steps for the technology.
Call it a melding of minds at Immersed as Nvidia was impressed with DTI's direction, and in addition to confirming future support with Nvidia 3D Vision, they invited them to be a technology showcase exhibitor at the GPU Technology Conference via the Emerging Companies Summit (ECS) on March 18, 2015.
The Emerging Companies Summit is where Nvidia showcases the best in visual computing innovation, so this is a big kudos for DTI with hopes that it will get them one step closer to getting their innovations on the market.

It's funny that nVidia keeps confirming support of '3D Vision' to new technologies like this one or Occulus Rift while at the same time they abandon 3D Vision with every new driver, and no new games have proper 3D Vision profile working out of the box since... when? A year ago?

So what's in it for Nvidia? Is it ultimately about selling more GPUs? Because if these glasses-free monitors become mainstream (which is a long, long shot), they are gonna need to lower the prices of 3D Vision kits - a 'kit' would only be an emitter, right? Or is that even necessary with this sort of monitor? I'm not even sure what I'm saying right now... it's early lol ;)

I wouldn't be surprised if Nvidia did jump on it (if it's as good as they're claiming). We all know Nvidia loves to make deals with proprietary tech that turns monitors into premium products (and takes cuts at numerous steps along the way). I would definitely buy one that was a little more mainstream priced (for games that just aren't that suited for VR).
I don't understand why you would pay a fortune just to be glasses free. What effort does it require to put a bloody set of glasses on yer face FFS?
It doesn't require effort (at least if you're like me and don't already wear a pair of glasses), but shutter glasses do induce eye strain for many people. For example, if my eyes are already dry, I won't play in 3D Vision because it'll send them over the edge.
And that's ignoring the ghosting issues that most shutter driven displays have.
