Call of Duty: HELP!
I've tried COD (not COD 2) in 3d stereo, but frame rates drop from 100 down to 3! I've tried several versions of the nvidia 3d drivers, with no improvement.

Anyone else have this problem, and have a solution?

Thanks for your help.

I did it with 61.76 combo. I can test it with 91.31 set when I'll be at home, but I have not any problem with it after NVIDIA fixed the first mission CTD issue.

What I do always when installing new drivers is a HD format, fresh install of WinXP, drivers, etc I do not trust Driver Cleaner or similars, I have found strange behaviours of drivers using it, that have been fixed reformatting, but it is a hard way and it is not guaranteed that it fixes it...

Hi, sorry I remembered wrong: Vsync shall be ON.

Here are some pics (rename to .jps):

Framerates is very fast (probably 60+) with 3D, not a problem.
I have the 91.31 driverset (GFX: 7800GS+).
And there is real 3D unlike CoD2.

Freke, I tried VSync on AND off, didn't make a difference. I'm using 78.01, since the higher versions don't work for me on other games.

The biggest difference seems to be with Model and Bodies settings, I set them as low as possible and it seems to improve performance. It's weird because all of the other settings I can set to Max and there is no detrimental effect in performance... so maybe it's my computer or something. (6800 gt + 2ghz AMD).

By the way, I do get true 3D stereo with CoD 2 with no problems (check out the forum on stereovision.net) That's why I don't understand why I get such better performance from CoD2 as opposed to CoD1, which is 2 years older.

I'll try to get CoD2 to work, thanks!

I initially get low framerates in Battlefield 2, but Alt-Tab to Windows and back in game solves this. Maybe that will work in CoD too? (Esc to menu, Alt-Tab to Win, Alt-Tab back, Esc to gameplay). Donno why this works though.

Call of Duty 2 works perfectly, even the laser sight, on my system, with 91.31 drivers and 1024x768 res at 100Hz. Frame rates seem high with no noticeable stuttering.

My rig is: Dual Core Intel Pentium D 940 3.2 GHz; 1Gb DDR2 ram; Asus P5ND2-SLI PCI-X nvidia nForce SLI; Realtek on board sound; one XFX 7900GT graphics card with DVI out and DVI-vga adaptor; WIN XP prof SP2; G5 Laser mouse; edimensional wired glasses; Philips 109s monitor.

I found another thing that made it a little better: in config.cfg
seta r_lodBias "0"
my lodbias was default set to -200. You will get some weird low-rez models (like people's face at a distance looks like the old Dire Straits Money for Nothin' video... is anyone old enough to remember that? ;)

Basically there is something about the models that is really slowing this down for some reason.

Thanks Freke, but alt-tab didn't help in this case. (Although it's something to keep in mind for any game: it also worked for Hitman 2, for example).

Subwoofa:

I've tried the 66.xx, 77.xx and 78.xx drivers with no luck, same problem as you, when you have a couple characters on screen, frame rates plummet to unplayable rates. I might have to try the 61.76 drivers just for this game, as Darkbluesky said they worked for him. I'll keep you posted.

By the way this seems to be a problem with a bunch of Quake 3 engine games for me:
e.g. Medal of Honor Allied Assault, Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory, and Return to Castle Wolfenstein Multiplayer.

(However, RTCW single player runs great, so is it the exception, or is my theory bunk?)
