The email newsletter says so however its not true. Gas clouds in space appear for one eye and shadows look horrid. So Nvidia, please don't just say games are ready for 3D Vision those games are not.

No he is right, Star Trek Online it is pretty bad in the space missions.... nebula clouds and effects are at wrong depth. On ground missions it is fine. I am not sure a profile will fix it. I think the developers took short cuts with many of the the space effects and as a result wont display properly in s3d.

I wasn't questioning his conclusion (I've tried it), I'm trying to figure out where some "newsletter" said it was compatible. I've never seen anything claiming 3D Vision compatibility in even a half-official way.

As STO is now free to play I tried it and I offers a really good S3D experience. If I set shadows to low and turn off bloom I couldn't observe serious issues with 3DVision. May be I dind't find the nebulas and gas clouds mentioned above but until now space and ground scenarios look great. In space combats I reduce depth to lower values so that spacecrafts and their 2D icons are not separated too much. Meanwhile I also got used to shoot with 2D crosshairs in games. Besides from that there is not too much aiming accuracy needed in the ground missions.
I prefer using the iZ3D driver/Nvidia glasses combination as iZ3D allows to also set bloom to max which adds some atmosphere. With iZ3D the character's heads in the text boxes are rendered in 2D which is better than the 3D presentation with the Nvidia drivers as they pop out far too much. The different presets for depth and convergence allow to change comfortably the settings between space combat (flat) and the other situations (max depth).
So give STO a try /thumbup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

No, don't give STO a try. It's absolutely horrendous in 3D vision, and no amount of setting tweaking can fix it. I tried. And i'm very comptetent at these kind of things, far too many artifacts and anomalies the settings can't compensate for. Both in space and on ground. One of the worst examples I can think of 3D Vision - DO NOT PLAY.
I like the actual game tho, it's not a hotbar mash tab target cookie cutter copy pasted wow clone, for all its faults, that's gotta count for something.

Strange... we must have played different games /unsure.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> Can You post a picture of the "horrendous" issues You found in STO? Or tell me in which scenery they appear? I played the game for about 10 hours and couldn't find any issues yet (besides from the 2D icons)... Besides from that Nvidia also rates STO as "good".
As the game is free to play anybody can try it without costs and form his own opinion /wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />

Played some hours more and also visited areas with many nebulas and gas clouds. I never had an issue with them. In contrary these areas offered the most impressive views (see http://photos.3dvisionlive.com/3d4dd/image/4f1bf78c378501f30500001e/ , http://photos.3dvisionlive.com/3d4dd/image/4f1bf0cc378501041500000a/ , http://photos.3dvisionlive.com/3d4dd/image/4f1bef5e378501f87e000039/ , http://photos.3dvisionlive.com/3d4dd/image/4f1bf2fa378501a51800003b/ , http://photos.3dvisionlive.com/3d4dd/image/4f1bf0f03785010107000009/ , ).
I also discovered that it is possible to max bloom effects also with the Nvidia driver (see http://photos.3dvisionlive.com/3d4dd/image/4f1bf243378501f87e00003e/ , http://photos.3dvisionlive.com/3d4dd/image/4f1bf2c8378501010700000c/ , http://photos.3dvisionlive.com/3d4dd/image/4f1bfa79378501af37000017/ ). Bloom doesn't cause any issues.
Still prefer iZ3D as it's S3D lasersight also works in the game. But as the enemy You aim for is marked red (see http://photos.3dvisionlive.com/3d4dd/image/4f1bf11b3785011a06000042/ ) one can live without a S3D lasersight.
Most annoying to me are the 2D icons for the starcrafts (see http://photos.3dvisionlive.com/3d4dd/image/4f1bf077378501f07e000035/ ). But this is a common issues in many games and something I got used to.

Maybe You can understand why I love the game because of it's graphics and S3D experience.
Perhaps there had been some updates for STO or the Nvidia drivers that removed the issues mentioned in the other posts?
I dunno I had all sorts of issues when I tried it. It was fine in 2D, but in 3D had bad issues with space, ground, everything. Lighting / shadow issues I couldn't correct with settings, and nebula issues etc in space. I tried tweaking it, nothing worked so I gave up and just played in 2D. Maybe its more noticeable if you use convergence.

As there are no issues with lighting and nebula I could change convergence and depth settings without any further issues becoming visible. I use 100% depth and high convergence settings.
I only had to set shadows to "low". Everything else is maxed out for best quality. I even could turn on AA and bloom although the driver tells You to turn them off. My screenshots proove that I couldn't observe issues with lighting or nebula.
As the driver instructions (AA, bloom) and other reports about issues are quite old I guess that there had been some game or driver updates that removed issues in STO.

I'm actually having a pretty good time with this game! i've never got into mmo's before, but i love star trek and the 3d vision is fantastic! I can ignore the 2d character and ship icons, so high depth space battles just look crazy! /laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Maybe I need to reinstall it or something. I use 100% depth with convergence where my character (usually) pops out the screen, but it was doing bizarre things also like resetting the convergence if I zoomed in or out on my character, and tons of artifacts. I guess i'll maybe reinstall it at some point. i7 930 with GTX 480. Was there an nvidia driver update maybe that helped it? I haven't got a new driver in 2-4 weeks.

@Eightball: yeah dude, i'd try reinstalling the game and maybe video drivers as well. I know I was having driver problems until I did a clean install. Maybe try that.

Yea there are some nebulas and gas clouds that don't look quite right, but for the most part it's pretty cool...
Especially during space battles, or going through astroid fields.
How do you take a stereo screen? I'll post some here then.

Away team missions look like holograms.
Space battles look fabulous!
Wow!
