Guys do you think its worth upgrading from a superclocked GTX 780 to the GTX 980ti Hybrid?
For GTA5 in 3D Vision?
That would be the only reason I see a need to upgrade as the other games I like to mod and play can be maxxed with my 780.
BTW SLI is not an option...I just want the max single GPU performance for GTAV in 3D.
If this is the only game you really want that upgrade for, I'd suggest staying with your 780.
GTA5 in 3D is pretty heavily CPU bound, because of that 3-core problem in 3D. So, better GPU and SLI has only modest improvements to the game. Given the cost, and that you are using an oldish CPU, I don't think you will gain enough in performance to make it worthwhile.

Your CPU is the same as mine.
Just curious, what settings are you using? Have you enabled the stuff in the advanced bit? I found tweaking some settings net impressive performance gains and didn't really notice the difference...

Yea me ole 2500k is still running like a champ after all these years!
I have everything in advanced turned off.
All default Nvidia Control Panel settings
Ingame FXAA only(No MSAA at all)
High Shadow Quality
Softer Shadows
Low Grass
DOF turned off
Everything else maxxed 1080 @120hz using the Depth Hack
No crashes ever no broken 3D at all.

Guys,
I played Tomb Raider with 3D Vision and it was great fun. Then, i played Witcher 3 and it was a blast.
Then, i played GTA 5 and ... wait ... WTF ! What is this crosstalk / ghosting ?!
I had some with Witcher 3 but here it is 10 ten worse. IT is ruining all the fun.
By the way, i am playing on an Asus Rog Swift.
Are there some special settings for GTA5 to tackle this issue ???
Many thanks !

For the record, I'm running this in 3d surround under windows 10 with latest drivers and everything is working really well. Much more stable than under Windows 7 and I'm getting a noticeable performance boost too.

That sounds like the startup problem I see occasionally, try bumping the convergence slightly and see if it snaps back to normal.
If that's not it, it might be something specific to Swift. There are some funny driver level changes for the Swift that might be interacting badly. Is this with SLI? Maybe experiment with different monitor/sli settings, as this game runs the same as Witcher3 for my setup.

Good to know that it works on Win10, thanks for letting us know.
The stability is not actually from switching to Win10, they've done a recent patch that dramatically helped the memory leaks (but didn't fully fix it). If you run with a large page file (like 30G) it is pretty much completely playable on Win7 as well.

Yes, was going to mention that it's not a direct comparison as the patch has definitely helped and I haven't really been running windows 7 much recently. I've been concentrating on getting my W10 experience up to scratch.

BTW, for people who have been holding out for GTA5 to run properly, I think your patience has been rewarded.
The game now seems to be running without crashing for multiple people. Not 100% stable, but I think it is definitely playable.
Only glitch I know of at the moment is that the race markers and mission markers are at the wrong depth, and don't seem to be fixed by MaxPayne3 profile or AFR2 anymore. DHR and I fixed them in our GTA5 patch, but I can't promise we got all the flickering bushes.

@bo3b, yesterday i play a couple of missions (1 hour) and don't see a single flickering bushes....so i think is covered. The tweak in the shaders works!

Thank you Bo3b,
I am not using SLI, juste one 980ti.
Actually, with GTA 5, there are 3 parameters I can play with :
- Nvidia Depth parameter
- Nvidia Convergence parameter
- GTA 5 Convergence parameter
My observations:
- Moving Nvidia Depth parameter away from zero instantly generates high ghosting. The higher the parameter, the higher the ghosting
- GTA 5 Convergence parameter does not seem to change anything
- Therefore, my solution consists in increasing Nvidia Convergence parameter as high as i can without hurting my eyes (just before the playable character divides in 2) and keeping Nvidia Depth parameter to zero. GTA 5 Convergence parameter is set to whatever value, it does change anything.
That way, i get an honest amount of 3D without ghosting (except on the playable character actually but, oh well).
Is everybody doing the same way as me ??

Played about 20 hours and no more crashes and freezes like before.
Everything renders in correct depth, also these race markers.
Using default settings, 355.80 driver, Win 7-64 , 980 TI Single
Buddie uses same setting @ 970 Sli, and he got the race marker failure.
Seems to be an SLI issue.

I don't even touch convergence anymore with games like GTA 5 because in order to get that pop out effect you gotta sacrafice scale, getting miniaturization which totally breaks the immersion for me.
So these days its just all about depth for me

Guys I am about to start with GTA V now that it seems the crashing-issues have been minimized. So I need to ask a question that I already asked sometime ago.
Is there anything that needs to be done for playing GTA V in 3D beside the installation of the game? Since every driver after 350.12 (GTA V driver) plagued me with the stereoscopic/mono switching I am still using driver 350.12. So would it be ok to play GTA V with driver 350.12 or should I switch to a newer one? Also did I maybe miss something and the stereoscopic/mono-switching issue has been fixed in one of the recent drivers? Since there is no GTA V fix on the blog I would assume that nothing has to be done beside the game's installation but then there is Bob's comment on this thread-page where he talks about a GTA-related fix done by him and DHR that should be used
To cut it short:
1. Do I need to install anything beside the game's most recent version?
2. Would it be ok to use the 350.12 driver or has the switching-issue been fixed with recent drivers so I could and maybe should use one of the newer drivers?
Your help is greatly appreciated!

Everything renders in correct depth, also these race markers.
Using default settings, 355.80 driver, Win 7-64 , 980 TI Single
Buddie uses same setting @ 970 Sli, and he got the race marker failure.
Seems to be an SLI issue.

I don't even touch convergence anymore with games like GTA 5 because in order to get that pop out effect you gotta sacrafice scale, getting miniaturization which totally breaks the immersion for me.
So these days its just all about depth for me
