Very little games are convergence locked(Resident Evils, Mafia 2, Call of Duty,LA Noire, Inversion, maybe 1-2 more) Chiri's unlocker will allow convergence in these games though http://helixmod.blogspot.com/2012/06/how-to-unlock-convergence-in-locked.html . I believe shadows are locked though in RE:ORC/ Mafia 2 so going too much higher will cause issues.
Games that have their own renderer like Witcher 2, battlefield, Metro 2033, Sleeping dogs etc allow convergence through either in-game or .ini's.
The only games that I know of that is completely convergence locked is Lego games/Deus EX(Not really locked but it doesnt even hit 2d+depth)
----------------
The amount of 3D Vision ready games/developer put work into 3d has not changed tbh. I think the real problem is less and less games are giving the options to turn off features such as shadows which are problematic. Like in Hitman the only real issue in 3D is the lighting, I actually dont remember turning shadows off for single game that had problems in 3D(exception of Unreal Engine Games), either someone like helix/myself/others had to manually fix them or disable via shaders. A year or two ago putting lighting/shadows at low would of been OFF, now its actually LOW with no option of OFF. Which more or less is meaning if a developer doesnt support 3D we are more or less screwed in a lot of situations where before we were not.
I'm not really defending nvidia but expecting alot more sponsored 3D vision games is a bit unrealistic. I do think NVIDIA needs to put ALOT more work into the 3d vision renderer. I really dont think they put any work into it since DX10's birth. Though about people saying they havent been active on this forum, they never have.

Well, there was actually a man around who called himself Andrew Fear from Nvidia. I fear he quietly disappeared during the long close down of the forums.
Since maybe more than 95% of their customers dont care about 3dvision, Nvidia feels no urgent need to improve the situation.

I believe this thread has been created because of false advertising (Borderlands 2 and, at least temporarily, Assassin's Creed 3) and complete lack of moderators' feedback on this forum. These are disservices we didn't use to get in the past, hence the angry words.
With that said, I certainly agree with setting up threads in games' forums: Hitman Absolution would be a good place to start, but it would be useless if not supported properly. These days it's hard to get organized
In some games I have to hold down convergence for what seems like over a minute, before it finally adjusts. So some games you may think are locked, actually are not.
Yes exactly. And how does a new user even know he can adjust the 3D dimensionality of his display? How many new users just accept seeing un-configured 3D as normal? Only Metro 2033 and Battlefield BC2 had their convergence properly configured for me, and even then i remember tweaking it a little bit in both games. Every game requires at least a slight convergence change for me. I just started Fable 3, which had a slight doll-house effect from the outset. Had i been a new user, what would i make of that? The convergence shortcut would likely be disabled, but i doubt anyone would know about it either way.
It would be optimal if Nvidia hinted at what convergence does and of the fact that 3D dimensionality can be changed in their setup program and also made a configuration program that allowed users to play with the convergence and depth with appropriate imagery containing subject matter with known size values, like a human and/or car, with things like trees or mountains in the distance.
On top of all this, I remember that i actually had discomfort when changing the convergence and depth when i was new to 3D, so that just makes it even more important to do all that can be done to make adjusting the 3D as quick as possible. A visual indicator when adjusting convergence and the aforementioned configuration app with more real world imagery and perhaps a walkthrough guide explaining how things work would help.

He used to actively post on these forums in his *free time*, during lunch or even after work hours, as it is not a job requirement of his to provide end-user feedback for 3D Vision. But the environment here grew so toxic around the time of BF3's launch last year that I imagine he just lost his appetite to post here when all he received in return was animosity.
I do agree though the closing of the forums and general indifference towards 3D by the vast majority of gamers has made it easier for him to remove posting here from his daily routine. I'm sure many others who frequented the site have adjusted similarly.
But the good news for all the complainers is there's always AMD's 3D solution if you feel 3D Vision is somehow deficient. :)

Andrew has always been one of the leading spirits of 3d in nvidia. You say it's some users agony about nvidias standpoints that put him off? Couldn't it just be it that the responsibility of a spokesperson makes him feel ashamed of nvidias policy?
I don't like nvidia but my sympaties are with him though.

Andrew was gone except for the occasional [mandatory?] sticky post long before the forums went down.

Nvidia has given him the opportunity to do what he loves on a daily basis, and get paid for it. I doubt there is anything for him to be ashamed about.
The only problems he would run into with regard to being a spokesperson on policy would be the communications he made here, possibly prematurely, about certain features or game support that certain users here would attempt to back him into a corner about. And therein lies the problem and solution. Why post anything at all if all you receive in return is animosity over what you've written?
While he may love 3D and 3D Vision, he certainly did not show any appetite for the kind of confrontation and ill-will he encountered here on a daily basis when he frequently posted. Just my opinion, of course.
Edit: btw this isn't limited to just this forum, this vicious cycle occurs in pretty much any online community, particular MMOs lol. People act like Lilliputians and then wonder why they've scared away the game.
Hence you prove that you don't understand anything about people and what i said. No points of common ethics to you.
You said there was reason for him to be ashamed, I stated I doubt he feels there is anything to be ashamed about. No reason to get snippy about it.
Whether he is ashamed of being a spokeperson or the policies themselves are irrelevant as he is intimately tied to 3D Vision in both regards. Being the #2 man at Nvidia with respect to 3D Vision, Nvidia's policies are HIS policies. Who do you think is making and signing off on these decisions?
I know you want some type of Utopian 3D world where Nvidia happily supports everyone's 3D ecosystem and hardware and ancient legacy hardware and solutions, but please tell me how that furthers Andrew's interests and job security at Nvidia with regard to 3D Vision?

Isn't he product manager at Nvidia? What "ties" him to 3D?

He's Senior Product Manager of 3D Vision at Nvidia. There's one person above him with regard to 3D Vision, Phil Eisler, and they all roll up under the GeForce/Desktop Graphics business unit. 3D Vision in it's current form is his baby, his productized vision of 3D that Nvidia gave him the freedom and license to make possible. Do you really think he is ashamed of anything related to it?
I've linked this interview multiple times and you can decide for yourself if you think he feels ashamed of what he's accomplished with 3D Vision: http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/graphics/2011/05/24/nvidia-talks-03d-vision/1
Andrew Fear: "I've been here 10.5 years, and I remember when I first started here – I came here from 3dfx – one of the first things I was asked to do was figure out how to sell our 3D drivers. And, to be honest with you, it didn't work then, for a lot of reasons.
I guess you'd call the model for 3D back in 2000 an open standard. There were people who made glasses, people who made graphics processors, people who made drivers and people who made displays. The idea was that we were all going to make them come together and work, but the reality was that it didn't work well. There wasn't really a strong motivation to partner together and produce a high quality experience where the glasses worked great with the display and the drivers worked properly, so it kind of all failed."
He is Senior product manager of a lot of things is he not? Not just 3D Vision. All i will say is that in my job i do the best i can for the customer, i work extra hard to make sure they get to live with results that make them happy in the long term. I think about their feelings and their needs and the fact that i have the power to turn their homes into palaces if i do things right, i don't take it lightly and i probably make 1% of what these guys make, especially the CEO who we all know has the income to easily make Helix, or someone like Helix, an employee. ...and I am willing to WORK AT A DEFICIT, as many, many low income people are, so long as it benefits the simple people they're working for. Do you think 3D Vision is as good as it could be? Have you seen one mention from Nvidia about the differences in 3D between lackluster 3D in movies and that in games?

The only product I have seen him represent or support in various publications, videos, trade-show interviews etc. has been 3D Vision, so while I'm sure he has multiple other responsibilities at Nvidia, his primary product to manage is 3D Vision. Even in the interview, you will see he was tasked with the prospect of selling their stereo 3D drivers from the beginning of his tenure at Nvidia.
As for the rest, I'm sure Andrew does his best as well as 3D is clearly his passion, but there are certain realities that prevent everything he and the rest of the 3D Vision community want from becoming a reality. The reality of it is, 3D Vision by itself is still a niche market that commands less priority from a shared pool of finite engineering resources than other GeForce technologies. A good recent example of this would be CB support in the 3D Vision drivers. The fact this feature was delayed so long and put on the backburner tells me Andrew is fighting a losing battle in Nvidia's conference rooms in Santa Clara. Still, I do appreciate what he does for us, as he's pretty much the only one that goes to bat for what we want. :)
Anyways, with regard to HeliX, as much as I would love for Nvidia to hire him and productize HeliX mod or incorporate it into 3D Vision, you assume HeliX would actually accept the position. I know in the past, incredibly talented guys like Unwinder have rejected offers to work abroad for these hardware companies (he's been approached by both iirc) because they are perfectly happy and comfortable where they are, doing what they are doing. I was one of the first to suggest HeliX take donations for his work but he refused any such overtures, he does what he does because he enjoys it, so we really need to enjoy his generosity and brilliance while we can. Judging from his Steam library and the rate he buys games though...it doesn't seem like he's strapped for cash lol.

Disclaimer: drunk...
