I've been in touch with valve regarding the source engine. They no longer license the source engine.
The only thing they offered was making a mod and then getting it greenlit to bring it onto steam to be able to be sold. No engine access and it's a pretty old engine by now.

Good luck Flugan, but we don't need a blow-by-blow update of every step you take. If that's something you want to do, you should start a blog, or do it on the Steam forum you created.

That's some pretty heavy duty stuff there Flugan. I doubt you're going to take any advice, but some VERY FRIENDLY advice is just worry about the core game (and finding what's fun). Use simple "programmer art" until you've actually got something. It's real easy to have massive time sinks on things that end up completely irrelevant.

Either a single or multiplayer game for VR
Or a multiplayer game for PC.
It could be a simple as a singleplayer game for PC but with online leaderboards.
Did anyone ever play Unreal Tournament 1, that mod map where you were in a massive, MASSIVE room but could jump like a 1/8 of a mile into the air? I've been thinking that would make a good VR multiplayer starter game. As long as it took skill to shoot another person such that you could look forward to getting better each time you played,
That reminds me, i really need to send that email to 4A Games asking them to please consider making a Metro 2033 a VR patch.
Flugan, have you considered supporting mod teams or indie teams (for games you know you'd like of course). Like Angels Fall First, even heard of that? Or The Dark Mod, or whatever. A whole game seems tough, but if you did it, i really wouldn't be surprised. Remember to have fun and remember that "knowing how to have fun" is actually a thing.
Calvin and Hobbes game! Okay im going to shut up now.

I'm looking for collaborators, maybe for just discussing game design ideas but if you have something else to contribute that is fine as well. The team works like a mod team so nobody is receiving any salaries at all. I'm doing it all for free at this point. The ende goal is to sell the game on steam. When there is a revenue stream it's simple to reward the people involved but obviously the revenue stream is not guaranteed at this point.
If you turn up and don't really contribute you will get nothing of the revenue stream,
You will need prior experience with game development as I really need highly skilled people.
The only thing that don't require much experience is game design as anyone can have a really cool idea. Just don't get too much in return from a money perspective as having an idea is very cheap while realizing the idea in practice is very expensive.
