JVC RS40 1080p 3d Projector coming soon will it work then?
Hi All,
Anyone seen or heard of this new JVC beamer coming along early next year?
http://www.projectorpoint.co.uk/projectors/JVC_DLA-RS40.html
Looks like it has all the bells and whistles and can deliver 3d at 1080p but I guess the million dollar question will be.....will it work with 3d vision?

I'd still be wary about these premium projectors that do 1920x1080 3d at 30fps. I would assume its fine for 3d films, but bad for games, though I'm unsure as to what playing at 30fps with 3d enabled would feel like. I know Divinity 2 when it was locked to 30fps bugged the HELL out of me.
Screen gain will definitely be a factor as tritosine pointed out. I've actually ended up having to repaint my cheapie ebay screen but not just because it was too dark... the material pattern combined with the overhead placement of my H5360 causes lots of sparklie grain to appear on bright images e.g. sky, clouds, faces. (if I was at eye-level with the projector the sparkles disappeared!) Completely ruins the atmosphere of games like new vegas since there are bright skies everywhere.. Also happened with Alan Wake. Anyways, I think maybe wait till the CES 2011 to look for developments in 3d projectors. I've read a rumor that casio are planning to release a 720p 3d capable led hybrid projector (their current 720p hybrid series are sub $1000 and have a lamp life of 20,000 hours..crappy contrast ratio though)

seems to me, screen is more important, cuz it will be just as dark as the DLP's.

I've also been looking in to screens, that seems to be a bit of a minefield, do you know of any good threads regarding screens for 3d?
No doubt cheaper 1080p projectors will follow.
Basically, I'm really enjoying and getting a lot of use from my hs5360. As long as the room is dark the large 3d image is far more impressive than any LCD I've seen so far. But for gaming, the extra resolution I think will make a big difference.
Dracomd, surely you would be getting 60fps in each eye, same as the acer....that's plenty fast enough to play games.
EDIT - just read that review, that's a bit disappointing then.

With laser / led hybrid's , you loose not one but two huge advantage of lasers, namely , laser as intended can cut thru polarizers ( glasses... ) , and it's focus free. It's an intermediate step, I'd wait for the real deal.
Curved screen + bulb DLP will be somwhat out of focus, but that shouldn't be a huge problem, texas instruments recommends using 1080p DLP slightly out of focus to begin with. These things are too sharp ( 92% fillfactor vs. ~60% framed pixels on TV's , monitors).

1080/30hz is a major difference from 24hz, i run tridef at 1080p/30 no slowdown at all looks perfect. The 3d looks much better than 720p and is smooth as silk.
So that sounds pretty awesome.

hmmm might have to reconsider my stance on 30hz gaming. Sadly I dont have any displays capable of running at the refresh rate just to confirm I have eyes that notice that 120/60/30 fps difference

Right then.....Good news...for me at least anyway.
Due to getting an amazing deal from a local dealer and from reading the info in this thread: http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1296327
(glowing review of this PJ in 3d mode, from the sounds of it, should be plenty bright enough for my batcave)
I've bought one and it should be coming in January sometime :)
Now, I know it's going to work fine with Sky3D and my PS3 and Xbox and I can use the PS3 for 3d blu ray. But I really want it to work with my PC so I can game with a mouse instead of a joypad (like grown men should) and at 1080p.
What do you think the likelihood is of plugging in this PJ and having it work with 3d vision when it comes?
Anyone have any Ideas as to if Nvidia will support it in the future? and if so, will I be able to use my nvidia glasses at the same time as using the JVC ones?

Dracomd, surely you would be getting 60fps in each eye, same as the acer....that's plenty fast enough to play games.
