Does 3d not work with Optimus?
So, I recently purchased a BenQ Xl2420TX in anticipation for my new DV6TQE with the Geforce Gt 650m. Now I learned that Optimus does not play well with 3d, but on the Nvidia Specs page, 3d is supposedly supported.
However, when I open my Nvidia Control Panel, I see no option for Stereoscopic 3d.

Should I return the monitor? Or is there some way to make it work....

3D Vision has problems with laptop chips, especially in conjunction with Optimus. I have a Lenovo Y570, which is listed as 3D Vision supported on Nvidia's site, as is the Geforce 555M chip it comes with. However no 3D options are shown. I was trying with an HDMI 1.4a display and I could not get it to work.

In your case, with that monitor, you probably need to use a Dual-Link DVI cable, and the laptop only has a VGA or HDMI port, which don't have enough bandwidth. So I doubt you will get it to work at all, regardless of the software.

Nvidia needs to update their website and take off listings of hardware that isn't really supported. Basically amounts to false advertising.

What I think they mean is that the actual laptop has a screen which can display 3D images (120hz) and is 3D Vision compatible, but it doesn't mean that you can use it with an external monitor/3DTV.
