Dual projectors on quadro M5000
  1 / 2
I, this is my problem. I'm going to realize a big curved screen using two projectors to form a blended single image (DLP NEC PX602UL). I need to project only stereoscopic movies ... I plan to use Stereoscopic Player and a NVidia M5000 graphic card (n. 4 Display port) Do you think the two projectors need a 3D sync? In your opinion is it necessary an RF-type emitter to syc two projectors? Two projector can be work simpy in DLP-LinK mode? I am going through hard times ... Can someone help me? Regards Francesco

Perfect synch is the core of 3D and color/luminance balance. Don't believe anything else. Why Are you using 2 projector if you Are Making active setup ? Remember you need lense or warp for the curved screen. Geobox 5xx model does both, demultiplex/warp/synch There is some hickups but Price not huge compared to more rick solid solutions. i have geobox but im also gonna try quadro for my Blu-ray source as my friend Has Spoken higly on it but there is still many variables like firmware, drivers. Desktop player is rock solid. In don't believe stereoscopic player plays blurays. Full bd only is the way to go all else is ubforgivable crap that just spoils the Reputation of 3dfullhd presented on dual projector passive way.

@Metaloholic Nvidia's Quadro have sync, warp and blending capabilities included in Nvidia's drivers. @Gabellone66 Quadros can take advantage of Frame Lock / Gen lock, but require an extra hardware piece. I'm uncertain if this would be required for what you are attempting to do, since movies are static images. http://www.nvidia.com/object/quadro-sync.html http://www.nvidia.com/docs/IO/146566/quadro-sync-user-guide.pdf To contact an NVIDIA multi-display expert, please contact us at QuadroSVS@nvidia.com Are you going to be watching with other people?
@Metaloholic Nvidia's Quadro have sync, warp and blending capabilities included in Nvidia's drivers
True. Thats why i Also gonna Try the Quadro. To eliminate geobox from the chain and possibly get Even better play Back. But i need geobox for Gaming and i have still low expectations of Quadro experiments Succeed. I tell you why. I already found out that there are not many good Blu-ray software player that play full dics FROM disc. And its a fucking hassle. Good desktop player is soooooo much easier. But im willing to give it a go. One thing is Also the need for HDMI splitter as i use eeColor boxes to calibrate left and Right. And they only have one i put so ill need a switch to choose what to feed i to eeColor and there to projectors, 3D vision throug geobox or 3D movie from Quadro outputs. Luckilly i have use for Quadro still allthough i would not even use it for bd. My point was if you want easy working system its madness to go the pc route. Dual pj is nightmare in usability even without the pc angle :D WELL COME THE ARMADA OF REMOTES... Some one could say get a universal remote....ha ha.. you oviously have no experience on Dual pj system. No one has the pationse to input all devices and program the Hell out of the remote, Set delays ect. Just to see how for some unexpected reason the universal remote fails in one point And you are forced to dig up those retired remotes. The amount of remotes on my desk still sometimes crack me up

Thank you very much for the answers! I use a PC and not a desktop player because I have to check more events ... my movies are full 3D animation and stereoscopic 3D with separate right and left channels. My problem is just to know if There are sync problems with glasses on the two projectors (That will form a single stereoscopic image). On my YouTube Channel (gabellone66) there are many reconstructive videos regarding my work. Regards F

Quadro has the frame lock. No matter if its dual projector active or passive setup.

The two projectors are used to form a projection of about 8 meters. They are then placed side by side to form a large projection, they are not overlapped to form a passive projection. Sorry for my english ...

It doesn't really make sense to use 2 projectors side by side that are capable of 1920 x 1080/1200. A lot of Films are simply 16:9. so to fill the screen, you'd zoom in and crop a lot of the picture, which would be terrible. Even maintaining the original size, you'd have 1/2 the screen not being used. Even 1.78 or 1.85 would leave quite a bit of unused space on the sides. At 2.4, it starts getting better, but you can do this with one projector. I'm probably not understanding or I'm missing something, because I've never looked into this for movies. Now, if you were gaming, it would be obvious. Other than your choice of of projectors. But the question remains, if you are going to have a lot of viewers. If so, active glasses can get expensive really fast.

Edit The NEC PX602UL You Are doing stereoscopic movies, And you Are not doing passive 3D but you Are overlapping images Are you outputting Something you have personally rendered To some unconventional resolution and aspectratio? . But still there is no good reson of using active 3D for multi viewer audience. Eather you don't know what you Are doing and somebody sold you shit loads of Expensive equuoment or you do know what you Are doing kind of and don't know How to explain it.

The reason we use two projectors is simple: I have to get a projection 8 meters wide and about 2.3 meters high. Inobtain this only with two projectors side by side. The resolution of the movie is therefore equal to two adjacent fullhd. In this way, I use in full the two projections side by side without any cut. The screening room is a museum and requires professional h24 projectors very bright. The active stereoscopy is expensive but in my opinion the quality of vision is great (no ghost, ETC.). The problem is only related to the synchronization of the shutter frequencies on the two projectors.

The right way is SLI. This resolve my problem ... two projectors in sync (shutter and frame-lock)

Well on the link I posted above, it says... SYNCHRONIZE USING SLI BRIDGE For simple synchronization for dual GPU installations of NVIDIA Mosaic, consider the options of using an SLI bridge. The Quadro M6000 24GB, Quadro M5000 and Quadro M4000 support SLI. - See more at: http://www.nvidia.com/object/sli-certified-systems-and-motherboards.html So if your motherboard supports it, SLI might be an option or the additional module that's shown in that link. Although I'm not certain that any additional synchronization is needed when using stereoscopic player for Dual Output. But that might only be the case if it's dual passive. I have no hands on experience with this personally, so I'm no expert. Did you try the Nvidia e-mail link? We do have two users that I know of that game using dual active projectors. You might try PMing them.
