Hi everybody! I'm planning a monitor purchase for Xmas, and I have several questions, some of them I've made in the surround forum, but here's the 3d related.
I have a benq 2420t. I may purchase another one, or maybe a 2420tx, so I can get rid of the 3d kit. But my question is the following: would those monitors pair with a former generation 2410t?
And lastly, does 3d surround support 3x portrait mode?
Thanks

No, the monitors must all have the same EDID (ie: make & model must match) for surround gaming.

And as far as I'm aware, you can't even do a single monitor in 3D while in portrait mode. If you go in the control panel, it says you can't run both (change orientation/enable 3D).
I'm sadly aware of this limitation because Pinball FX and Pinball Arcade are awesome in 3D and scream out to be played that way in portrait mode. You can't cheat it, either, because if you switch to portrait mode in-game, it doesn't work for some fairly obvious reasons.

Portrait Mode will never ever work in 3D Vision as long as the current tech monitors exist (due to the way the refresh is being done...from top-bottom (landscape mode))
Theoretically it should work when a new type of monitors will emerge that use a refresh mechanism like LightBoost (the stroboscope tech). Only then it will be theoretically possible to orient the monitor any way you want and see in 3D;))
For 3D Surround:
1. You need the exact same type of monitors (brand and MODEL)
2. You need landscape mode

Great point about how the pixels are drawn. They talked a lot about this during the g-sync reveal. They can draw the pixels in any pattern they want. I wonder if they'll start support portrait mode with it (it seems like they already do with projectors... so it's not like they have any philosophical issue with it).
