Using the 3Dvision glasses would not be possible, since the HDMI 1.4 TVs have a build-in emitter and provide no 3D-sync signal which would be required by the nVidia emitter, so of course the glasses bundled with the TV have to be used, even in checkerboard mode.

But, this thread opened my eyes to the fact that I could not play my games in 1920x1080p 60hz checkerboard format if I set up this new 92" Mits with HDMI 1.4 inputs. I also believe that the new 2011 Mits sets will have emittiers built-in. Will this prevent me from using your glasses?

I think there is a misunderstanding. The Samsung 55c8000 3D TV only supports frame packing HDMI 1.4 for 3D. You cannot select DLP or CRT and drive the Samsung in an HDMI 1.4 format. The TV can support 1080p24 or 720p60/50.

Thank you for the picture and explanation, this clears it up.
My intepretation of this manual is that it is showing that the Samsung's TV menu has the ability to allow users to input and format that they want, but if its NOT an HDMI 1.4 format, it requires end user interaction to switch to one of the other formats. Is that correct, can you confirm it?
If you go back to my original response, 3DTV Play is designed for HDMI 1.4 formats and supporting formats that carry the 3D flag in the signal. We currently are not looking to add formats that require end user interaction to switch the TV into that mode. Do you really want that? Is it more important for you to get that resolution or to have automatic 3D enable/disalbe from the source device?

and then put in plug HDMI 1 port and select external input as HDMI/DVI or PC

Thing with 3D is that there are many options regarding glasses, emitters and TV options as well, i think the easiest and best way for things to go is people use 3D vision for their PCs and 3D Play for their TVs USING their Tv's glasses and emitters.

If not will this option be supported in the future?

With regards to this, yes I did have to switch to other 3d modes manually using tv. The automatic 3d switch is not that important for me (I also have sky-3d, that requires me to change manually and is the main way people in the uk watch 3d content!)
I would really like 3dtvplay to enable me to manually chose other modes (perhaps an advanced option in the driver?). Checkerboard in 1080 looks so much better on the samsung tv's than 720p.

True with broadcast TV, true with Blu Ray 3D, true with 3D gaming.

I speak for everybody when I say that Samsung owners expect that they will need to manually switch their TVs to checkerboard mode, that's totally acceptable. If lack of automatic switching is the reason for denying checkerboard on our HDMI1.4 Samsung 3D TVs, then let the craziness end right now.
To answer your question, it is indeed more important to get checkerboard mode than to have automatic switching to 720P frame packing. Having to push the 3D button on the Samsung remote is a small price to pay for 3D gaming in checkerboard.

If lack of automatic switching is the reason for denying checkerboard on our HDMI1.4 Samsung 3D TVs, then let the craziness end right now.
To answer your question, it is indeed more important to get checkerboard mode than to have automatic switching to 720P frame packing. Having to push the 3D button on the Samsung remote is a small price to pay for 3D gaming in checkerboard.

Not an option because TV makers use only single link HDMI1.4a inputs, dual link is required for 1920x1080/60P frame packing. Fault lies with TV makers who regard HDTVs as NOT computer displays, so in their minds, no reason to upgrade to dual link. At the same time, nvidia employs a number of FAEs (Field Application Engineers) whose job is to go to these TV makers and evangalize the need for computer display support via dual link inputs. So Nvidia needs to push harder for dual link input. That can be either Dual link DVI, displayport1.2, or Dual Link HDMI type 'B'. (Yes, dual link is in the HDMI spec, it just hasn't been implemented.). Dual link has been a long time standard in all computer monitors so it must be cheap to implement.
As to the future, TV makers have said that they plan avoid dual link inputs in all future HDTVs, so we will not have full resolution 1080P framepacking in our lifetimes unless Nvidia can convince them to install at least one dual link input for computer use.

Actually I decided to buy a Samsung TV and not the Panasonic because of the support of this additional 3D formats! And everyone who is aware of the problematic and wants to use his HDTV for gaming would do the same.

I think there is a misunderstanding. The Samsung 55c8000 3D TV only supports frame packing HDMI 1.4 for 3D. You cannot select DLP or CRT and drive the Samsung in an HDMI 1.4 format. The TV can support 1080p24 or 720p60/50.

My intepretation of this manual is that it is showing that the Samsung's TV menu has the ability to allow users to input and format that they want, but if its NOT an HDMI 1.4 format, it requires end user interaction to switch to one of the other formats. Is that correct, can you confirm it?
If you go back to my original response, 3DTV Play is designed for HDMI 1.4 formats and supporting formats that carry the 3D flag in the signal. With regards to this, yes I did have to switch to other 3d modes manually using tv. The automatic 3d switch is not that important for me (I also have sky-3d, that requires me to change manually and is the main way people in the uk watch 3d content!)
I would really like 3dtvplay to enable me to manually chose other modes (perhaps an advanced option in the driver?). Checkerboard in 1080 looks so much better on the samsung tv's than 720p.
Although I can understand 3d working automatically, I think manual selection of other modes (for advanced users) would be really appreciated - I would really like 30hz frequency mode and 1080 checkerboard modes for my tv (samsung c7000).

If you go back to my original response, 3DTV Play is designed for HDMI 1.4 formats and supporting formats that carry the 3D flag in the signal. We currently are not looking to add formats that require end user interaction to switch the TV into that mode. Do you really want that? Is it more important for you to get that resolution or to have automatic 3D enable/disalbe from the source device?

With regards to this, yes I did have to switch to other 3d modes manually using tv. The automatic 3d switch is not that important for me (I also have sky-3d, that requires me to change manually and is the main way people in the uk watch 3d content!)
I would really like 3dtvplay to enable me to manually chose other modes (perhaps an advanced option in the driver?). Checkerboard in 1080 looks so much better on the samsung tv's than 720p.
Although I can understand 3d working automatically, I think manual selection of other modes (for advanced users) would be really appreciated - I would really like 30hz frequency mode and 1080 checkerboard modes for my tv (samsung c7000).

True with broadcast TV, true with Blu Ray 3D, true with 3D gaming.

This whole issue is not about checkerboard/no checkerboard, it's about required end user interaction?

I speak for everybody when I say that Samsung owners expect that they will need to manually switch their TVs to checkerboard mode, that's totally acceptable. If lack of automatic switching is the reason for denying checkerboard on our HDMI1.4 Samsung 3D TVs, then let the craziness end right now.

Currently I start a program and to play in 3d have to go through the menus change the resolution to 720p from 1080p (I know... but sometimes I don't want to play in 3d!), if checkerboard was enabled then I would no longer have to change resolution (much more difficult than pressing the 3d button on my samsung remote!)

Not an option because TV makers use only single link HDMI1.4a inputs, dual link is required for 1920x1080/60P frame packing. Fault lies with TV makers who regard HDTVs as NOT computer displays, so in their minds, no reason to upgrade to dual link. At the same time, nvidia employs a number of FAEs (Field Application Engineers) whose job is to go to these TV makers and evangalize the need for computer display support via dual link inputs. So Nvidia needs to push harder for dual link input. That can be either Dual link DVI, displayport1.2, or Dual Link HDMI type 'B'. (Yes, dual link is in the HDMI spec, it just hasn't been implemented.). Dual link has been a long time standard in all computer monitors so it must be cheap to implement.
As to the future, TV makers have said that they plan avoid dual link inputs in all future HDTVs, so we will not have full resolution 1080P framepacking in our lifetimes unless Nvidia can convince them to install at least one dual link input for computer use.
