I mentioned in that thread too just now, you have to try on an outdoors multiplayer map. On smaller maps and indoors you can get 60, but in the majority of scenarios (outdoors multiplayer maps) you will be capped at 40.

I'll run mulitplayer tonight. I was getting 150 FPS in 2D online last time.

Shinobier's post and findings also corroborate Khatru's claim: http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=226041

You can see 3D Vision results ~55FPS avg for BF3 with GTX 680 SLI, ~42FPS avg for BF3 for GTX 580 SLI. Obviously close to 60FPS per eye means the majority of the game is running at near 60FPS with the 680s compared to mostly 40FPS with a few spikes up to 50+ with the 580SLI as most of us have seen.

This isn't all that surprising though as Kepler does make significant strides in terms of instruction overhead and checks as part of Kepler's push towards efficiency.

Still not enough of an improvement to sway me to upgrade, especially since I play BF3 in 2D, but for those of you who were looking to upgrade to something that could push 60FPS per eye in BF3 3D this may be what you were looking for. BF3 3D Vision Surround may still require a bigger boat however, maybe GK110 or the 4GB GK104.

I buolt a new rig which is why I bought the 680's. Expect FPS increase with driver updates. I am tempted to add a 3rd 680 to my system to see if that makes the FPS better but I know from experience that 3-way SLI and 3D vision don't work as expected. If anyone wants a Gigabyte 680 let me know! : )

please post screenshots of your settings and fps in game on Ultra. You can't get "above" 60 fps in 3D because 3D Vision has a fps cap... 60 per eye.

Sure you can, but you probably don't want to. The refresh rate only caps the frame rate if verticle sync is turned on. If you don't have that turned on you get tearing which likely looks even worse in 3D than in 2D. (Or does NVIDIA force v-sync on when 3D is going?)

Dogor, yes AA was off. I realized when I got home. I get around 35 FPS with extreme settings and 8xAA on heaven.

Hey Guys,

I put in my 2x680's last night and the results have been great! I ran the Heaven benchmark at max everything this morning with 3D vision enabled and attached my results. These cards destroy everything in 3D so far.

Hello dude...

Can you answer a few questions I have?

I currently run 2 x 560Ti 1gb SLI with 3d vision. Because my 560Ti's have only 1gb I can't run BF3 in ultra even in 2d! I play BF3 on High settings and with that I can run 3d glasses and my FPS will NOT drop below 60!

So the question I have is...

If I ditched my 560Ti SLI and bought a single 680... Could I run games including BF3 on HIGH settings with 3d glasses and would the FPS drop below 60 on a 64 player map like firestorm? To be honest I dont generally play BF3 multi with 3d glasses but single player I do. I am worried if I go with a single 680 I won't be able to play 3d glasses with games on High detail even?
