Ok i finally got this bad boy. Nice looking box, not your typical monitor box. Im sure you guys are aware with what comes with it, so i wont go into that.

The monitor itself is really slick, def up there with the best. Has plenty of menu options, 6 preset modes to choose from including a custom.

Now for the juicy stuff;

Brightness and color quality is exceptional, much much better than the samsung.

Absolute 100% flicker free experience!!!!!!

As for ghosting; It is a improvement on the samsung, but unfortunatly is still present in some games. However i havnt tweaked the convergence in some games yet, so ill updat this part.

Any questions or want mw to test something let me know.

On a side note, when the screen is completely black there is some white backlight bleeding in the top and bottom areas of the screen which is really bothering me. Not sure if this is normal, or i should send it back for a replacement....

Sh#t you too. I might put mine through warranty. Mine is only noticeable on a full black screen, is that the same as yours?

Yep black only, but not that really noticeable. I had bleeding on my Dell 30" as well, but on all 4 corners, guess I am not too picky. =p

Main thing I look out for is dead pixels, which mine is fortunately clear of.

Mines set to 50% brightness and contrast, default. And when I use dead pixel buddy with blackscreen yea you can notice the slight glow from bottom and top.

Thanks for the heads-up Johny. I'm sorry but the ghosting statement was a bit vague. Please could you elaborate on what your seeing?
Is the ghosting pretty strong like the samsung?
Whats the ghosting like at 75% - 100% depth?

We'd appreciate some pics pretty please :)

I've been provided with an RMA to return my samsung monitor. If the Alienware isnt a massive improvment on the ghosting I wont use. If it is, i'll return my sammy and buy the Alienware or Acer when they are released here in the UK.

Cheers

Glad to hear its an improvement over the samsung! Although i would like to hear more info about any type of ghosting /kiss.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':kiss:' />

And im not %100 sure about this but the issue u are having with the bleeding at the top and bottom i think can sometimes be caused by using the incorrect Aspect Ratio, i have a simaler problem on my current 22" screen only on company of heroes that supports 16:9 and not 16:10. may be wrong tho. :unsure:

Ya I know what you mean... It really seems samsung is about the only one (I know of) who can decently light a screen with minimal backlight bleeding. When I was last shooping for monitors I think went through 2 or 3 before the samsung with good backlight. Hearing this one has a lot of bleeding is sad. Although at the same time, how bad is it in games and if you have any movies in them? I believe it's a 1080 monitor, so 16:9 AR, which hopefully means you wont see black bars (which hopefully is the main time you see bleeding) that often.

The bleeding only happens when u load up a game in 3d because the screen then defaults to 100% brightness as appose to 50% default. U cant notice the bleeding unless its on a black screen. When watching a movie with black bars, there is no bleeding.

Ill be more specific in regards to ghosting- keep in ming i have not messes with convergence yet;

Batman- 100% depth - pretty much 0% ghosting
tomb raider- 100% depth- 0% ghosting- HUGE improvement on samsung
RE5- 50% depth- ghosting noticeable on top edges of roofs, dissapointing
street fighter 4- 100% depth- 10% ghosting, not too bad. HUGE improvement on samsung
MW2- 75% depth- 15% ghosting, ghosting noticeable on top edges of roofs
far cry 2- 75%depth, 0% ghosting

I would highly reccomend this monitor over the samsung. It is a 100% flicker free experience. color and brightness is unreal.

As for the ghosting i think this comes down to drivers, hopefully we will see some improvement with future updates.

If you would like screenshots please be specific in your requests.

I would say 10% for both the white and black square.
