GTA IV - Episodes from Liberty City looks good in 3D?
5 / 8
So you play with low settings, maybe that's why the water don't look to terrible for you. But do you see double image while flying over the water or driving a boat??? The reflection renders in 3D, that's a problem with post-processing effects that don't go through the directx3D that Nvidia uses for 3D Vision.
Maybe with low settings you don't get that reflection with lots of ghosting ad double images, but I doubt that.
Yes, This games eats the Ram out of our computers, slow downs happens cause of that, and the PC gets lazy for a while after you play the game for a few hours.

i see the double refection over the water too. Only when viewing almost directly down on my chopper do i notice it the most. In most cases i would perfer to fly over land vs. water.

Wow, so vanilla GTA4 still has no profile? This is exactly why we need to be able to make our own. What is with the need for draconian control with 3d vision? If the driver team isn't going to be on the ball, they need to allow the community to chip in to fill in he gaps like with SLI and nHancer.
I'm getting mighty tired of all of the limitations.
No max depth adjustment.
No sync timing adjustment.
No custom profiles.
I'm surprised nV lets me adjust the convergence... wait a minute...
Anyway, just blowing off some steam. I'm just so tired of the completely arbitrary controls. Is it an ego thing for someone on the driver team or something?

The human race divides politically into those who want people to be controlled and those who have no such desire.
I can understand NVidia's position, but it only really works when you have complete control over every aspect of the end user experience. NVidia doesn't make the games, systems or the monitors that people use. Since there are so many variations that can affect the user's experience then it only makes sense that the user should have a little more control and tweak things to his/her liking. Thank God I can adjust convergence or I wouldn't enjoy the 3D effect in many games...even ones with official profiles.
I don't really see the problem with letting the end user have more control. Who's it going to hurt?

honestly, i would perfer to pick peanuts off the sidewalk in 3d than drive at 40 fps in 2d. GTA is not about graphics its always been about the expearance and the comment was about the comparison of the experance sunny coast. 60 fps compared to 200 fps= ya, thats nice. very smooth. Now the differance between 40 fps 2d and 20 fps 3d = Holy F@#king Sh1t batman, it studders and lags but Holy F+&king Crap thats cool. Saying its not fun in 2d is abit of a overstatement on my part because if i was to tell you i only played in 3d i would be lying to you. I play in 2D all the time, i have to, my pc does not allow for everything to play in 3d and i am forced to switch from time to time. I never play mp in 3d but then agian most of us dont anyways because the expearance we want is not there. I may have been drunk when i wrote it, some of my best stuff was writen that way, some not so good stuff too lol. I sure do hope its technology i am playing because i will be in alot of trouble when i wake up..........how many people did i put over the hood of my car last night? I killed 4 hookers in a alley just because, killed more cops than i can remember, took a chopper for a joy ride, went home to my clubhouse to enjoy a beer and some "hole". I cant wait for the holo-deck people. I really think i played the s**t out of this game so far.
Im drunk now too so please disregard any spelling mistakes i may have made. thak you

If playing a game in 2D is suddenly not fun you are playing the technology instead of the video game bro.[/quote]
You might correct in "game" type games such as tetris, pacman or patapon, however, in synthetic experiences, 3d gaming cannot be beat and after playing in 3d stereo it is difficult to enjoy 2d synth experiences as much due to the loss of immersion and excitement.

You could also take the angle that artifacting, ghosting, and 3d-related anomolies reduce immersion and excitement. They certainly do for me and hence any glaring 3D anomoly will immediately make me play the game in 2D.
3D Vision is really only an extra special effect - mind you a damn good one, remember that. If I have to turn off say 2 major in-game effects settings (ie shadows, post processing) just to get the 1 x 3D effect, I may feel more "immersed" with the 2D experience.

3d stereo, for me, is a fundamentally different way of experiencing a game, so I don't really see it being equivalent to post processing or something. But tastes vary and flexibility is a great thing. Obviously it would be best if everything is 3d ready, and the best way to do that is to push for next gen consoles to go completely stereo 3d and support the industry by purchasing all 3d ready games as opposed to pirating.

Nope, still does not have a profile.
Also, Is it just me or did the new new rockstar title menu & update kill GTA4 3d entirely? Every time I play my steam version now the right lens flickers in two second pulses and left lens does not activate at all. I think it might have something to do with my DLP TV checkerboard because the checker pattern is very visible.

Maybe with low settings you don't get that reflection with lots of ghosting ad double images, but I doubt that.
Yes, This games eats the Ram out of our computers, slow downs happens cause of that, and the PC gets lazy for a while after you play the game for a few hours.
