3DTV Play 24Hz workaround verified working
  1 / 3
Hmm, I just came across this, dunno if it works, but it looks promising. "Hello! I made batch files for simplify usage registry hack for 1080p60hz DVI/HDMI active&passive(row, column, chess) output without 3DTV Play!" https://www.reddit.com/r/nvidia/comments/73peh1/1080p60hz_hdmi_activepassive_output_without_3dtv/ This might not work anymore because 3DTV Play is on by default in newer drivers and this requires that the blue-ray 3D is showing up in the control panel? Dunno Perhaps something can be gleamed from the bat.

Hmmm, I have tried this before without any luck or was not really running 1080P @ 60Hz in 3D?? it seemed like it was still in 1080P @ 24hz.. I seen the link but it states you need to be in 3D Blu ray mode, I did not see that the last time perhaps that was what was wrong.. Has anybody else tried this mod?

the 3D blu ray feature might have been removed. I do believe that is why this no longer works :(

Well I tried some older drivers and found out it does not work.. maybe I did something wrong but I did not see the 3D blu ray feature in the NVCP.. I looked at guru3d and the 1080 drivers came out roughly in april 2016 and are v 368.xx.. I Am unsure what else to try at this point but the other thing I found was it needed Win 7 support..now maybe it was because when that article came out only win 7 was available.. So I guess I am unable to figure out what else to try as I can not install Win 7 on the pc.. Hope someone else has some more luck with it..

Well there are 5 parameters needed to check this out and get the blue-ray 3D option shown in NVCP. 1. You must be using a HDMI connection, presumably without an adapter 2. You need a HDMI 1.4 compliant display connected 3. If you have a Nvidia emitter, it needs to be disconnected 4. You must not have a 3DTV Play license installed 5. You must not be on a new driver that now includes 3DTV Play activation by default (license no longer required) I did download it a lil bit ago, but I haven't checked it out. I know very little of registry hacking, other than making new DWords or changing refresh/resolutions for old games that had their configuration values set there. I know next to nothing about bats. I was hoping that someone with bat knowledge might have an AHH HAH moment looking at bats contained in the download

Isn't there already a workaround for this? Enable Sbs / TnB via 3dmigoto and set 3D type to "Checkerboard" in Nvidia Control Panel. This bypasses 24hz restriction of 3DTV Play. Btw: the hex values for reverse Interlacing and Checkerboard are wrong in these .bat files. I know because I took those values for 3D Fix Manager. Users reported that bug and told me the correct values to use :). I couldn't test because I haven't passive / checkerboard display / mode on my monitor.

But as pointed out by sebastatu, if you are using the Optimized for GeForce workaround, you are good to go with dx9 games. I also use a monitor, but thought that someone might find this workaround useful, hence my posting it. It seems that the Blu-ray 3D portion does not have a Hz restriction, so the red overlay/stereoscopic driver shutdown never materialize. I had no idea any of his values were incorrect, that sucks

Well it appears the Hz restriction is not true as you say D-Man11.. I was able to get it finally in hdmo blu ray 3d mode and I met all the criteria you posted but the HZ rate is not changeable when running 1920x1080 besides 23,24Hz.. I amm going to reread the thread you linked perhaps I missed something but I am getting closer now at least I was able to get the Blu ray mode on and was able to run the 3D test and have 3D but with my Optoma 3D glasses.

The guy that made the hack said "-Wital- 1 year ago This hack allows using Stereo3D functions of NVIDIA driver which now locked in control panel(it was free in old driver long time ago) for "unsupported" hardware. 3DTV Play utility cost 40$ and just allow limited HD3D 1080p24(Blu-Ray DVD full frame SBS 3D) output setting in control panel but driver can output 1080p120(HDMI 1.4a limit) Stereo3D for passive TV/monitor. Driver can always output passive S3D in full screen hertz because this is common 2D image already mixed of two by GPU(no hertz limit) and no any limits." _____________________________________________________________________________________________________ Meaning that in the blue-ray 3D mode, if you hack above 24Hz, the driver doesn't lock it out or give the red overlay warning. In 3DTV Play, if you go over 24Hz, 3D is entirely disabled and a red overlay warning is given. Unless you are using a Checkerboard supported Display. Like some of the active Samsung 3D HDTVs. But I haven't tried this, so I can't say. But it would seem plausible imo. TriDef certainly work at more than 1080P24 :P

Well after I made the above post I tried it again and was able to get it working.. the trick posted here does work and I have it working at 1080P 600Hz in 3D.. You can use any newer or older driver you just need to have the emitter unplugged when installing the drivers well that is how I got around the 3D TV Play automatically working.. I am using driver 416.94. So basically I did this. 1. Uninstalled current drivers which for me where the same but I wanted to start from a clean slate, I did use DDU in safe mode.. 2. Once I booted back into Windows I unplugged the nVidia Emitter and installed the 416.94 drivers.. the 3D vision drivers installed even thos the emitter was unplugged.. 3. I then ran the 3D Wizard. 4. I then followed the instaruction start game minimize run 3D Bat then go back into game and voila it worked.. Going to test this somemore I need too find the right size to set to give me more depth ingame with the monitor screen size setting.. I am going to try 45" or less then 65"

Awesome news. It's not 1080P 120Hz Frame Sequential, like on the new 4K projectors. But it is the next best thing, for older 1080P projectors :)

Can you look in your registry and see what display type that is set?
