Skyrim - How do I disable the 2D crosshair and just use Nvidia laser sight? This game is boring as h
1 / 2
Hi,
I'm an FPS guy and unfortunately I decided to buy this game thinking it was an action game with great graphics and good combats.
I'm not really used to RPG titles, and I think that's the main reason I'm finding this game so damn boring. Asking questions to people to figure out what I should do is boring as hell. The combats methods are very simple and feels like a Playstation game, I mean the 2002 console. The graphics are totally out dated. What a waste of 60 dollars, oh ****.....
I may try to play this boring as hell game, but I need to improve the 3D Vision support for this game and having a 2D crosshair mixed up with the Nvidia laser sight is not the way to go. Is there a way I can disable the 2D crosshair and just use the Nvidia laser sight????
Also, the sky is rendered in the wrong depth and the 3D effect looks totally weired and unreal. Is there a way to fix this?
BTW, I paied 60 bucks for this piece of crap game in Steam. If someone is interested I can sell it for just 30 bucks. I can send the serial number to whoever is interested. At least like this I'll loose just half of my 60 bucks invested. I'll never buy a game again without testing it first. I don't have patience for RPG games, it's very boring.

Sorry you wound up disappointed, but it is an Elder Scrolls game, not a COD one and not a real action-rpg like the witcher. Personally I like to just explore the world of Skyrim, not play Skyrim - the game.
To your question, there is a mod for disabling the compass/crosshair, can't tell you the exact name, but look up UI mods on SkyrimNexus. To my knowing the Chiz-Helix-Dorkit mod fixes the UI (as well as everything else in the game) so that the original crosshair is at the necessary depth. I play without any crosshair, aiming is simple enough with all weapons, you don't do any sharp shooting in this game, so I doubt anyone who tries playing without a crosshair will end up feeling helpless.
Really, get the shader fix, the game is unplayable without it.

Crosshair is easy. There is an option for that in Skyrim's gameplay menu.
But
as Artox says, use the Immersive HUD modto do this. It is excellent. I set it up so the compass only displays when you are crouching/sneaking, the crosshair only shows when you are sneaking and the health etc bars only show when they are less than max.
And as Artox says you need the Helix fix
I would say go for a melee character (Orc even), dual wield and snipe using bow. When you level, boost health, then stamina, then health etc. Don't worry about majika because you will quickly get to use shouts which are like mega magic spells.
Defo use SkyUI which will sort out the shocking, aweful, risibly inefficenct console based UI.
You spent your bucks; give it a try. I would argue it is the best sandbox RPG out there.

Thanks for the tips guy, I will try these mods, but don't you guys have a direct link where I can find these mods that corrects the sky rendered at wrong depth, crosshair and other 3D issues, where I can download it and have instruction how to apply the mod????
It's cool that there's way to turn the crosshair off, that's good enough and I can use Nvidia laser sight, or maybe don't even use a crosshair, but having a 2D crosshair totally blows the experience.
1st when I started playing this game I liked the begining of it, but then after I entered the 1st town of the game, things got really boring. I don't have patience to keep making questions to everyone in the game, so I know what I have to do. I'm stuck in this town and I have no idea what to do??? Once I got the 1st village there's no one else to follow like when I played the game from the beginning. That's one thing I hate about RPG, very little action and to much talking. I'm not sure if I need to ask all those questions to every single citzen to figure out what I need to do.
The combats interaction is very poor and outdated, it's jiust swinging and casting all the time. The way you pick up items, they just disappear and your character don't make any moves to hold an item in his hand. I found this very amateaur for a 2011 game. This game remembers me of old Playstation games from 2002, really. The way your character moves his legs and turn around, it's like he's floating, not walking, very poor interaction for a 2011 game.
Yesterday I got bored about not knowing what to do in that village during the night, right in the beggining of the game, that I started to slaughter some people inside the houses. Now the whole village wants to kill me and I don't stand a chance. I always have to fight 2 or 3 people at a time, and I try to use flames, my sword, but I don't stand a chance, I always got myself killed by them. The way you fight is slow and you have to hit TAB to choose your weapons and spells, I'm definatelly not used to RPG gaming.
I think I'll have to start over this game, killing people in the village wasn't a good idea, cause you can't fight them all, not with such weak and poor weapons. I just wish I knew what to do in this game without having to ask questions to everyone in the game, this is the boring part.

It doesnt sound like its for you tbh. I finished skyrim and got bored like 20% through. I was totally into it in beginning too. Was very immersive and good voice acting. Im not saying its a bad game, just that their is too much "down-time" and once you hit a certain point it doesn't feel rewarding in level/gear/side quest story. Its a good game for people looking for open world rpgs. For rpg's I am more a fan of on-rails constant story/constant action like witcher/dragon age/mass effect.
If your bored at the beginning of skyrim you will def. be bored by the end. Perhaps stick to only "the story line quests" to get through it in a reasonable time.
I find the graphics to be pretty good tbh, was also one of the most immersive 3d games I played(when i first starting playing). Its not the most amazing graphics but the game is the size of a small city so can't expect to much.
That's one thing I hate about RPG, very little action and to much talking.
That's the equivalent of "That's what I hate about ice cream, very little meat and too much sugar." If you want to enjoy RPGs then you need to stop pouring catchup and mustard on them and complaining because they aren't very good hamburgers. RPGs aren't about an adrenalin rush. They aren't about developing your own eye/hand coordination. They are about building up a character and taking part in a story (or, in Skyrim's case, many stories).
Honestly, if you haven't even got the patience to read a game's description to find out what it's about, I think you're doomed. But at least we can help with the graphics so you can get a nice show.
First, check the mods Andy pointed at.
Also get the high rez "DLC" off Steam and Skyrim HD. Laast's Pure Waters will make your water less sparkly and more realistic, too.
Finally, follow the tweak guide from NVIDIA: http://www.geforce.com/Optimize/Guides/the-elder-scrolls-v-skyrim-tweak-guide

Thanks Sammaz, I'll try that for sure, maybe I'll have more fun now with this boring game.
Using this save, does it mean I'll have a better armor and better weapons/magic/spell so I can slaughter that crap out of these annoying village citzens?
Just another stupid question, if I decide to play the game my way, like killing the village people instead of asking questions to them can I still advance to new level/maps and finish the game, or will I be stuck in part where I needed the information from someone I've just slaughtered earlier in the game?
It's not that I don't like to read the game's story or talk to the village people, but usually when I play games like Batman for example, which I love it, I talk to people and that's how I know where to go or what's my next mission. But playing Skyrim, once you get in the village there's like many houses full of people and feels like you have to ask questions to everyone to know what to do next and the worst and borest part is when you talk to someone and there's 3 questions you ought choose, and I don't know if everytime this happens I have to make all 3 questions and also receive 3 different answers to figure out what I shoud do, and after you do this with 4, 5 different people, you feel like turning your TV on and watch Sky, cause you already bored to death. Get my point? That's why I want to slaughter these folks.... I steal something and they see they come in 2 or 3 at a time, and I don't stand a chance. Hopefully with your saved game, I'll be able to payback.
Regarding graphics, it's not really that bad in 3D, it really sucks in 2D. The game interaction is poor in my opinion, like you don't hold items you collect, you don't walk, you float in the scenario, and the combats skills are very limited. OK, it's RPG, but is it that hard for the developer to improve these flaws considering where are playing a 2011 game, seriously?
I've download the High resolution textures pack in Steam, but I am no sure if I am using it, is there some option I neeed to check in the game's graphics menu's to apply it. I already have graphics settings to Ultra.
I've read in the 3D Vision blog information about a 3D Vision compability guide about improving these 3D flaws like sky rendered at wrong depth, water issues and the 2D HUD rendered. At least the game lets you disable the 2D crosshair. Why da hell I can't do that with COD MW3?????
Thanks a lot for your comments and feel free to give more info about the game and how to improve my experience. Maybe then I won't find this so damn bored.

But
as Artox says, use the Immersive HUD modto do this. It is excellent. I would say go for a melee character (Orc even), dual wield and snipe using bow. When you level, boost health, then stamina, then health etc. Don't worry about majika because you will quickly get to use shouts which are like mega magic spells.

It's cool that there's way to turn the crosshair off, that's good enough and I can use Nvidia laser sight, or maybe don't even use a crosshair, but having a 2D crosshair totally blows the experience.
