That's right folks. I have recently SLI'd two 260's. MY fps was in the 60's range, but I noticed the cross-hair was a bit off. I later found out I didn't have nvidia cross-hair enabled. Once enabled I lost a good 20+ FPS.
I don't think this is a good thing. The cross-Hair adjuestment makes my game go from playable to un-playable.

i just tested this and it actually runs alot better without the nvidia cross-hair. abviously i cant play without the nvidia cross hair. Is there a fix to this?
Maybe in a future driver update?
I'm running vista64 with 4 gigs and a 9800gx2.
Yes, it jumps right back to acceptable FPS when the cross-hair is turned off.
This is a serious problem for me... I just invested in another video card, and I still can't get decent performance unless I turn the cross-hair off.
This is a FP-Shooter. So, it's extremely important.
More discussion please. This is a big deal.
I wonder if it is some frame buffer problem. I am willing to be that the 9800gx2s are very close to filling their FB before you hit the laser sight and the laser sight just pushes it barely over the limit. Have you tried reducing textures or resolution to see if you have the same drop in performance?

My textures are currently at medium. The res is 1280 x 1024.

That isn't what I meant... do you still have the same general loss of performance if you put the laser sight on in a lower res? Just trying to rule things out. 9800gx2 lacked bandwidth, but I don't think it was that bad.

I'm the one running the 9800gx2 btw.
Doesn't matter what res or game detail. Once laser sight is enabled the game loses performance.

The decrease in performance is just too much to let this topic wither away.
Bump.
My card burned up the other night. So I won't be able to test this fully till I get my new one.
I have sli gtx 260s btw. I just don't see how the lasersight is causing such a gross loss in performance. Boggles my mind.
*Tested on 186.18* Same problem.

Thanks much andrew. This is a huge issue for me. I play TF2 nearly 40-60 hours a week, and I would prefer to play it in 3d!
