Guess I will save the money from this game and use it for L.A Noire if it truly has decent 3D support.

It does. I recommend it. Kinda reminds me of Mafia (in terms of 3D)

This is really ridicules. I always play only campaigns and don't use multiplayer. A year ago purchased nVidia 3D Vision and waited especially for my two favorite titles. BF3 ($60) and COD-MW3 another ($60). At first i could not believe there's no 3D vision support in BF3 at the release date but i said to myself well ok i can forget it since new Call of Duty is just behind the corner. And now what did i just learned?!?!? No 3D nVidia vision support in this game either!!!!! Are You serious????!!! I'm so disappointed. Really. Second and biggest game of the year won't work in 3D?!?! I really can't believe how nVidia let this happen. I know it's not their fault from technical point of view but since they sold so much 3D equipment to us should they put some more pressure on games developers???? Come on nVidia! We spent good amount of money to play these games in 3D! Yes mainly BF3 and COFMW3 not super mario or other weird titles. We want to be able to play blockbusters! That's why we all bought this equipment for. How many days before release dates did You know already that both games won't work in 3D? I was so upset with BF3 couple of weeks ago when i find out it won't work in 3D. Of course i already paid for it then and now i have the same exactly issue. I would never ever expect that CODMW3 won't work in 3D either until i purchased it. Very disappointed! Extremely disappointed! NVidia does this mean we won't be able to play blockbusters ever again at release date???? I don't want to wait again and again for patches. I finish BF3 campaign few days ago in 2D because i couldn't wait any longer. I can't explain my pain. I'm sure i'm not the only one here. This is really beyond everything...

It will be ok. Take a deep breath. You still have your health, right? I don't know, try going for a walk or a smoke. Eventually (like me) you will learn not to let this stuff bug you. i can recommend quite a few other 3D games to play if you are completely bored.

What's really surprising is that they had 3d working and threw it away, I mean if you know how to deal with typical 3d issues, it's not much of a problem to render things correctly in your next engine. imho the pressure from bf3 graphics has been too much for iw and the took shortcuts with their old engine to make it look better and broke 3d support in the process.

Relax man. nVidia cannot force a developer to make their games 3d ready. It's true that as 3d gamers we are actually quite spoiled anymore, to the point that we expect nearly every new game to work in 3d. That means nV has been doing a good damned job getting support into games. There was a time not long ago that 3d ready games didn't even exist and it was only by dumb luck that a game would look good in 3d. nVidia more or less single-handedly made 3d gaming what it is today by getting together with as many developers as possible and providing the tools to make 3d gaming more of a reality.
3d gaming is still growing, but it is not to the point where developers all feel compelled to include support. However, as time has gone on, we have seen 3d ready games increasing in frequency and quality. So just try and calm down and accept the fact that 3d gaming is still a toddler industry. Be happy with what you can play, and realize that without nV moving the tech forward, you would have nothing to play that is 3d ready, much less having so many 3d ready games available that lack of 3d ready support stands out.
nV wants to have 3d vision support in every game, so your ire towards them, in this case, is not warranted. It is the developers that need to feel the pressure, so be sure to pass your angry missives onto the developers.
EDIT: I would also like to mention that nVidia should have no problem getting the crosshairs to work in 3d, as renaming the exe to iw4sp.exe made the crosshairs 3d. Unfortunately, it made the rest of the scene 2d, but still, it showed that 3d crosshairs can be implemented via profile. After the crosshairs are fixed, I would find it plenty playable in 3d, if not perfect.

I've been playing the game online using the Nvidia lasersight and my opinion is that this game is almost identical to MW2 in 3D (except for some very very minor issues) which is rated Excellent, so I don't get what all the clamoring is about here.

Im mainly a SP player too, the 2D crosshair looks bad in 3D, and since you cant disable it in a .cfg file, as you can do in MP, it becomes the only real issue imo to play MW3 in 3D, game doesnt look perfect but looks good imo.
Ive asked a m8 to create a fix for the crosshair (disaling the 2D crosshair in the campaign, so you can use Nvidia's 3D one), it seems he has succeeded, ill test it tonight and post here asap.

Roller11,
I'm not sure what his settings are in game, but my gun model isn't blurred-at least not online with standard rifles and pistols. I had to adjust convergence a little to bring the images together while aiming down the site but that was all. At any rate, I don't think his gun model blur is a 3D stereo problem, but something else.

Polish and 3D are not mutually exclusive. "Polished" is an arbitrary charcterization, so I want games to be "polished" and in 3D.
High definintion TV, movies, automobiles, air travel, 3D.... all start out as "fads" before they become main stream so there's nothing wrong with being a "fad". My wife refered to 3D movies as a 'gimmick'. I quickly corrected her by saying "you mean 2D is a gimmick, right?". I explained that the real world is in 3D, so 3D movies are natural and therefore not a gimmick. To take a 3D scene and map it to a 2D plane by removing one dimension is artificial and unnatural, a 'gimmick' to try to emulate the real world.
From the news story:
"It has been confirmed that Infinity Ward's latest release and perhaps the biggest game launch of the year does not support 3D unlike its predecessor Black Ops.
Although developed by Treyarch, Black Ops welcomed 3D and in some ways was better for it. With no 3D support for Modern Warfare 3, this seems like a step backwards."
All this says is that the game won't have a built-in 3D mode. So what? Most games don't have a built-in 3D mode, like portal, Bioshock, but they play great in 3D.
Others can play MW3 in 2D, but I will not reward a game developer for going out of his way to cheat me out of a fun experience by ruining a game. MW2 was improved greatly in 3D over 2D, so I'm not going to play a watered down version of a game (the 2D emulation of real world 3D). If Nvidia can't get this game working in 3D (like with fear 3) I won't play it. For me, it's full quality or nothing. Games are technology and technology is supposed to go in only one direction, improvement, not degradation. What's next, football games televised in 200x200 resolution?

Roller11,
This is a very strong argument. In fact, if most people would make the argument here as you did in precisely this way, I think we can move forward technologically.
If people don't like 3D, then they should patch one eye and walk around like that in the 'real' world for a while and see how that sits with them.
And you are exactly right, human progress is a one way direction and arrow of time, and technology here is what we want. If funds are the problem, then that's a legitimate reason to personally hold off from 3D, but appeals to funds is not an *argument* it's akin to an appeal to emotion or hand waving and that is illogical.

Not sure if anyone mentioned but turning off the Shadows and increasing the in game brightness makes the games tons more playable in 3D for me. I did not have to change the convergence.

Thales, please let me know here in this very thread if your buddy finds out a way to remove the annoying 2D crosshair, I'm really looking foward to that workaround??
I also don't find MW3 too bad in 3D, but It's far away from excelent, I would rate it as "fair". But I don't understand how some folks said in this thread that shadows look good, no way, you have to disable shadows, cause they're rendered in 2D, it's horrible to see shadows in the wrong depth, makes me dizzy and bothers my eyes a lot. Disabling shadows improve the 3D experience a lot.
If I could disable the 2D crosshair, then the game would look a lot better in 3D, for sure.
If someone else can share your experience playing MW3 in 3D, please let us knows, tweaks and workarounds are welcome in this thread.
At least we can try to play MW3 in 3D, cause the amazing and beautiful Battlefield 3 is totally unplayable in 3D at the moment and who knows when DICE will release the frigging patch that will fix 3D????
I'm glad I'm still having lots of fun playing Crysis 2 single campaing in 3D (Post Human). Crysis 2 is a game that everytime you play again it gets even better and I already got used to the pseudo 3D, it's not really that bad after DX11 pacth. Still the best game of 2011 in my opinion...

This is really ridicules. I always play only campaigns and don't use multiplayer. A year ago purchased nVidia 3D Vision and waited especially for my two favorite titles. Relax man. nVidia cannot force a developer to make their games 3d ready.

In 3Dizzy's youtube vid, the gun model is horribly blurred. Is this fixed?

Im mainly a SP player too, the 2D crosshair looks bad in 3D, and since you cant disable it in a .cfg file, as you can do in MP, it becomes the only real issue imo to play MW3 in 3D, game doesnt look perfect but looks good imo.
Ive asked a m8 to create a fix for the crosshair (disaling the 2D crosshair in the campaign, so you can use Nvidia's 3D one), it seems he has succeeded, ill test it tonight and post here asap.

Thanks,
photios
