I hadnt noticed until I had my brother try out some 3d games... he pointed out that there are black gridlines in any 3d game if you look closely... theyre there even with the glasses off.
What causes this? Does anyone else get this?
Im on the newest drivers and using a GTX 260 and the new Acer 235 23".

Noone has this problem? look really close at your screen. Do I have to take a picture with a camera and post it? I dont think it will come out well at all lol.

I have noticed this too. I never noticed it at first, so i dont know if its always been like that. I use the viewsonic 22" monitor.
When in game i noticed horizontal lines. When not in game and 3d vision is still on, i can see a checkerboard effect across the screen.

Well I think its more of the screen rendering the game, because I looked at the screenshots someone posted here of SC2 in 3D and the lines were still there... I can post some screens if you want, though.
Edit: Uploaded a ss from Batman. Look at it with and without your glasses... the grid is much more noticeable with the glasses on, especially on the white letters.

You cannot see this in a screenshot, just the displays are like that. At least the first generation 22" monitors have these darker/lighter lines visible up close at 120Hz. The second generation like Alienware and Acer are much better in terms of that... so do not worry, everyone has them, some people just don't notice them or don't care... it is not such a big problem when looking from the recommended distance for S3D viewing.

Yes i have this grid you are talking about and had it since day one with 3d (november '09). sometimes when i exit a game my desktop has this grid until i start a full screen application again and then it resets. I'm using viewsonic 22" too.

Exactly the same here on the Samsung. Sometimes after exiting a 3D applications the lines remain, but once I start e.g. Firefox the vga driver resets and the lines disappear. Not a big issue imho, never notice them when playing. I did however notice that the driver resetting occurs a hell of a lot more frequently when using 3D Vision. Again, not a big issue, but it's not a good feeling stability-wise...

Hm its weird that I never read anything about this before buying 3d stuff... its not really a dealbreaker as 99% of the time I cant notice because Im sitting back and enjoying the game, but sometimes it jumps out. My brother said he wouldnt buy a 3d setup just because of the grid, guess it really bothered him.

no special grid on my samsung 2233
if I'm very close I can see the grid between pixels (with 3D active or not) but it's invisible at normal distance (3D active or not) so there's no problem at all

I also have this display but have never experienced anything like what you are talking about.
22" samsung
and I just went right up cloce to it so I could just make out each pixel then closed one eye at a time while a 3d app was running.
nothing!
No we just have good eyes, went to a little 3d technology workshop at cambridge uni today, about 8 viewsonics and 20 samsungs. All of them had this grid whilst in 3d and sometimes coming back to desktop, certainly set my mind at ease. Also tried a proprietary 3d vision surround on curved screens too all i can say is WOW. I'll get some photos up when i can.

But yeah I'm pretty sure there are quite a few people aware of it,
it happens on my Samsung 2233 as well.. not sure what the
cause of it is tho..
