Help regarding error message Another one!
  1 / 2
Hello all, I would like to apologise in advance for creating another topic on this subject matter, but I'm about to rip my hair out in frustration.

I'm getting what seems to be the bane of many people's lives, that is, the "warning attempt to run stereoscopic..." error. I've searched Google and the forums for countless hours trying to find a solution, but none of them seems to help my case (I only have the one screen, re-installed the drivers and older drivers countless times...)

I'm using an Asus VG236H 120 Hz, with a GTX260 (other specs are Gigabyte H55M-S2H, Intel i3 530 @ 2.93GHz with 4GB RAM), of which both are stated to be a-ok for 3D Vision, but whenever I run the wizard I get the error mentioned above. I also seem to have a problem other users have of wearing my glasses upside down to pass the install wizard test (the triangle/hexagon one).

My drivers' version is 266.35 Beta, and really, I'm at my wits' end. So any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Hi

Lets start off with the basics.

Can you move to GPU driver v267.24 and 3D Vision controller 266.21? I would like to start there first.

Alright so I pulled both versions off the website and did a clean install, that is deleted previous drivers, restarted and installed these ones.
Same errors as before are popping up.

Ok thanks, I will see if QA can investigate it.

Thanks.

I mean, any ideas what causes it? Is it the monitor, the cable, the graphics card, the software? I'm new to this whole 3D vision thing so any help or information would help...
Thanks.

Hi

Can you send us a CPU-Z system log of all of your information? We want toi loom at that and try to figure out what is going on.

Hi

Thanks for being patient. One of our engineers decided to try to reproduce your problem.

We built a system with identical hardware (as close as possible), and installed exact same drivers. The issue you sees does not repro on our system. 3D Vision works perfect for our engineer.

Here were our recommendations:

If you still have GPU driver 267.24, ask him to unplug emitter, once more install 3D Vision Controller driver 267.24 and reboot his system, then run setup wizard. 267.24 is here http://www.nvidia.com/object/geforce-3d-vision-winvista-win7-267.24-driver.html

If you still has problems after that, he should try latest driver 270.5 Beta driver? You can download that here http://www.nvidia.com/object/win7-winvista-64bit-270.51-beta-driver.html

If that doesn’t fix it, we would ask if we can get access to your system.

Thanks for taking the time to reply, it's much appreciated.

Well I tried re-installing the 3D Vision Controller with the emitter unplugged and rebooted. It still has the non-stereoscopic warning appear, and I still have to wear the glasses upside-down. I then tried to download the new drivers and rebooted, but again the same problem persists.

I was just messing around with it and thought perhaps I should try to put the monitor into the native 1024x768 120Hz mode before running 3D mode, but the monitor itself displays an "Out of Range" error, even though when I run the Test Stereoscopic 3D application I can select the same resolution and refresh rate. The monitor is also seen by Windows as a generic non-PnP Monitor. Just wondering if any of this could lead to the problems I've described?

I noticed as well I have two DVI ports in the back of my tower but only one works. The other refuses to output anything at all?

You may have a defective graphics card. Are you not getting any signal from the second port from a cold boot or after unplugging and plugging back in while Windows is running? Have you tried swapping DVI cables (has to be a dual-link DVI cable). Here is a picture of what a typical dual-link DVI cable looks like:

http://nvidia.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/nvidia.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=2325

Do you have any other computers with which you can test the 3D Vision kit on (the GPU must support 3D Vision)? Any of your devices in your Device Manager have a yellow exclamation mark beside them?

We can't fix your bug if we can't reproduce it. Please provide as much details as possible including specs, steps to reproduce, graphics settings used, etc..

Hi

If your monitor is not being detected as a 3D Vision display, that could be the problem.

Can you upload a picture which shows what your NVIDIA Control Panel > Display Settings > Set up multiple display page shows for the display type? Ours shows the display as "Ancor Display Communications Inc ASUS VG236".

Some other ideas

Bad 3D quality (eye inversion etc.)

Monitor not detected correctly? Well, that would explain things, but then he shouldn’t be able to see eye inversion at all…

Second DVI port not working? Maybe his GPU is simply broken?
Cold boot or whilst Windows is running, I'm getting no signal either way. I have two HDMI and VGA on there as well and only one of each work too.
Looking closer on the back, the one that DOES work is a DVI-D port (I only just realised there's a difference in the ports...) so I don't know if that's why? Otherwise all my devices on the device manager are showing up fine. And this is the only computer I can test it on. No other computers in my house can handle it and my friends have ATIs so I'm a bit stuck there xD

The thing is, if I connect the monitor by HDMI, Windows will pick up what the make of it is instead of the Generic non-PnP Monitor. I'm guessing now it's a vault with the GPU itself?
