Dear Michael,

Thank you for contacting the NVIDIA online store.

We apologize for the inconvenience.

All download products purchased through the NVIDIA online store have a
period of 30 days from the date of purchase in which a download can be
completed. This time period is able to be expanded to a maximum of 2
years with the purchase of the Extended Download Service.

That looks like the response if you buy Acrsoft or Cyberlink from them. I'd contact the UK version of the Better Business Burea and consumer fraud division.

I agree, I don't think that was a satisfactory response. I'm concerned about this because I know I've blown two activations with driver updates. They say just updating the driver shouldn't do that, but it did. So now I'm very reluctant to update again. Given how easy it is to (mistakenly?) burn through activations in everyday use, it seems like they should just give their paying customers the benefit of the doubt on this issue.

I just got this back now! Unbelievable!... It's the same serial that doesn't work. First customer services want me to pay to redownload software that I already have any doesn't work. Then they send me the same serial that doesn't work!?! Are the only trained on how to sell products? No training on solving problems and actually supporting their customers? Thanks, Michael I would be worried too if you had bought 3dtv play. I haven't upgraded my pc once (bar a broken SSD) it's used all 5 activations in less than a year! If you look hard enough you can find a solution to the activation. That's what they've made me to resort too. I've got it working though now. Might not be legit but this is what happens when you screw people over! Still going to post everyday until I get what's legally mine. I'm going to have a look at what options I have. My cousin works for watchdog I might give her a ring! :) doubt they'll be many with the issue though. It takes going round Nvidia's website in circles 10 times before you can even find the download for 3DTVPlay as it is. Maybe I'll phone up the American phone number in the email. Ill probably be asked to turn my pc off and on again and make sure caps lock isn't on when I put the serial in! Ill make sure to record that conversation! So much for upgrading my 680gtx to the new 7 series. They can kiss my ass! I bought this 680gtx on the day it came out. That's how much of an nvidia fanboy I am, sorry, was! Got home to find £420 isn't enough to play games on my 3DTV. Bought 3DTV play and now this! I bought the 680gtx because my 260gtx's in SLI had a black line when playing some games in 3D in one eye. I had the 8800 gtx SSC too, and the 6800 ultra back in the day! AMD from now on. Can't even play tombraider without a crash every 5 mins. Can't cope with a bit if tress hair fx! All games have amd/ATI adverts on the start now. Not nvidia like it used to be! Crysis 3, tombraider etc. all next geh consoles using ATI/amd hardware. I can hear the tables turning. It's either that or my goal posts moving! Either way they don't give a sh*t about their customers. That much is obvious!

Lol, nvidia please wake up, treat customers as people not pirates. 3DTV play helps sell nvidia gpu's, making customers jump through hoops helps advertise competitor cards. Sort it out! Hope the new key works Gibson.

One post like this, is one too many! Nvidia needs to step up, this has been an ongoing problem for some unfortunate people. So many gamers use driver sweepers and/or frequently reformat. You'd think by now that every one of their customer service reps would be aware of how to properly handle this.

I am pleased to say its working! Finally! The new tomb raider updates and the beta drivers are great too! (Even if it is fake 3D) Not one crash in hours of 3D gaming with everything cranked up! I am so impressed with the 3D. Almost as good as dead space 3 (with the helix mod) Takes some fannying around in menus though! They should have 3DTV Play setup in PC Worlds and Comets in the UK. They would sell loads of them. The sales men in these places don't know how to even setup it up and therein lies the problem. It's too much messing around. It needs to be easy. Then there's the annoying little things that need to be sorted out. To watch a film in 2D 24p in powerdvd with stereoscopic 3D ticked in NCP is a task in itself. I have to change the resolution to 1080p 3D then press the 3D button on my TV remote (Panasonic ST30) to force 2D again. This allows me to watch a 2D film in powerdvd at 24p. Why can't I choose 24hz 1080p as a 2D resolution with stereoscopic 3D ticked in the NVP? Why can't we set depth and convergence separately when aiming down sights running about etc in games? Helix manages to do it to great effect. Why can't the convergence controls be on by default? How about a video showing people how to set it up and what to look out for? I know a few people who have 3DTV Play or 3D Vision not even know about the convergence settings! Sacrilege! Other friends saying "this is why I can't be bothered with a PC, too much messing about to watch a film, I'll stick to my xbox/playstation" (as I change resolutions and flip the TV from 3D to 2D) They should take a leaf out of apples book and streamline the crap out of it + the website side of it too! Who didn't go round in a circle at least once when they tried to download 3dTv Play trial? It's just unclear! Anyway, its been sorted for me. For how long I don't know. I have to reinstall windows soon as I'm not running in AHCI mode at the mo! They need to change the way it's activated. Give you a tiny usb dongle or something if they are that intent on charging for it! I mean there's me thinking we should be able to play 3D games on our 3D TV's with out 3D gfx cards! Nope! It's like when apple dropped dongles on their pro apps and slashed the price heavily for logic. They realised they'll sell more hardware if they slacken up a bit on the software! The amount of time people must have spent dealing with my problem probably cost them more than the price of the license in the first place.....madness!

I agree. It's blatantly obvious the activation method is not working. 3D is niche and the type of people that buy it are the type of people who like to tweak, reinstall use reg cleaners etc. As for my other points, I bet they could implement them all in a single afternoon if they wanted. What's really annoying is when games look awesome in 3D (black ops 2 with helix mod) but u can't play multiplayer with the helix mod in fear of getting banned by vac for changing game files! Its "The way it can't be played, but could be played, if it was done properly" All games should be able to disable crosshairs too! How hard can that be for game developers? I love 3D. I'm not even that bothered about 4k unless its 3D 4k. Its such a shame at least 75% of the people I know who have 3D TV play or 3D vision don't know about convergence and the helix mods. It like going to Alton towers and not going on the nemesis. Or Florida on holiday and not going to Disney land! You need to market this better and make it easier to setup! Come on Nvidia, I want this to succeed as much as you do. You're not doing yourself many favours in its current state.

That there is the nail on the head. People who use 3D will be NVidia's most profitable customers (aka gtx 670,680,690,titan and sli configs) and usually tech savvy and always on the cutting edge (aka regular new components and PC's). Would do Nvidia and its consumers a lot of good to have a couple of clear, coherent stickies to point new-comers or the less informed in the right direction.

Yes it would, without a doubt. I was thinking more of a video when you install 3D Vision/Play showing someone pressing the depth and convergence buttons and showing what effects they have! PowerdDvd and home theatre players should automatically switch to 24p when watching 2D content with stereoscopic 3d ticked in the NCP. This will probably take an hours work and an email to powerdvd at most.

How come you can't use the nvidia controls for depth and have to use the in game menu settings or am I missing something?

It's using it's own stereoscopic renderer, not NVIDIA's, but it is true stereoscopic 3D and not 2D+depth.
