I'm currently playing 'Origins' again, mostly to test my Asus ROG Swift monitor. Which in native resolution generally requires the most powerful graphics cards one can afford, especially as long as SLI doesn't work with it (in most games) - so I'm using a GTX 980 Ti.
But the game (Origins) runs choppy, at least in open areas or when gliding. I remember having encountered this problem in the past, then using 780 Tis (SLI) and with my old monitor (1920x1080). Obviously then in no case the stuttering could be attributed to not powerful enough hardware but had to be driver related. By rolling back to an older driver (much older in fact) performance could be restored to a very good level.
Only problem NOW is: With my 980 Ti these older drivers are no option any more (as far as I know) ... Does anyone know a solution to this?

Not to my knowledge. I've heard this complaint before, and it seems to be totally tied to the newer drivers in combination with your particular GPU. I am running a slightly older driver (April release), and a 690GTX and Origins runs beautifully, even downscaled.

No, this problem existed already when the current GPU generation did not. I remember that with my previous 780 Tis (SLI) I also had to install (much) older driver versions to get good performance. Of course those 780 Tis also were newer than your GTX690 - so maybe everything from 7xx onwards is "useless" for these games with newer drivers?
I filed a bug on this. Of course it would be a HUGE surprise if they actually resolved the issue.

Yeah, I dunno man. All I have to go by is my trusty 690, and it has been the most reliable, solid GPU I've ever owned. Not planning on replacing it anytime soon. I'm honestly scared to until NVidia can get their act together on drivers, but I'm also waiting to see how the VR/3D market develops to see which direction I ultimately want to go. Heck, I might buy AMD next time... but again, it just depends on what the landscape looks like in another 8-12 months.

^^ F.Y.I. This is a beta patch that wasn't officially announced. Several users have downloaded it and are reporting good success, but then the patch was suddenly pulled off Steam again. It has deactivated for the users who exited the game and restarted at a later time. The only way to keep the patch is to stay offline.
According to reports at the official forums, the VRAM usage is still off the charts, and a 760 won't run the game on full settings.

Still testing, but it looks better (I haven't looked since day 1). I'm no longer getting geometry changing/breaking/glitching/blacking out while moving the camera and exploring the city. Still quite a few broken effects, but it's not as bad as before (still bad though).
Performance has also improved, but it's not where it needs to be for 3D just yet. I'm getting quite a lot of pausing while driving around, and framerates in the 30s-40s (GTX 970, 355.82, i5-4690k @ stock, 16gb ram, Win8). This is with all settings minimised. hmmmm I think I have a broken video card. In SLI i get wierd unplayable artifacts. I have 2 GTX 970s running on 355.84 (because of my need for my Oculus Rift to work)
