Well I am sharing my findings of last night ... Because Friday ... i'ts Tweaking Night Fever !
Imagine you that I managed to use the NVIDIA 3D mode on my Samsung 3D plasma PS50C7700 (C8000 in US)
I was able to launch the NVIDIA Medusa demo 3D for example, at 1920x1080@60p /w00t.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':w00t:' />
First of all the DVI to HDMI 1.3 cable must be plugged to HDMI1/DVI IN of the Samsung, then rename HDMI1 to "PC". This permit to access to all 3D modes of the Samsung... I have already played an original 3D Bluray in line interlaced mode with TotalMediaTheatre + 3D Plugin... but this post is about playing games... ;)
On the PC I connected the IR transmitter to activate 3D Vision, not to have the anaglyph mode .... Once connected and installed it must be hiding because it is no longer useful but to disturb the Samsung Sync glasses.
In the NVIDIA control panel, I enabled the 3D VISION on TV CRT 60 hrtz ... Then I sat new combinations of short keys to enable / disable 3D, increase or decrease the depth, increase or decrease the convergence etc. ...
Then I launched the demo 3D Medusa and I sat the Samsung on the last 3D mode : The frequency mode...
Must manually enable the 3D with the shortkeys, then Ctrl Alt Ins to get rid of NVIDIA 3D informations, and it works!
The PC sends 1080p 60 frames per second in sequential mode, means a 1080p image image left and then a 1080p image right... 60 times per second... means 30 complete images per second and per eye (not line interlaced) in full 3D 2x1080@30p, which is better than 24p maximum framerate for 3DTV PLAY software : 1080@24p or 720@60p for gaming...
But I do not understand how the TV synchronize... I saw no ghosting or crosstalk ... but normally you need a cable coming out of the IR emitter 3D VISION towards the TV to sync...
How does the TV know where the left and right in an alternating flow of left / right frame ?
If the TV automatically syncs to the input signal I can understand that, but how it guess what is left and what is right ? Just a matter of chance ? After all it's only 50% chance... And if it's not good, restart the game ?
That means it can also reversing sides on the way... This has to be tested... ;)
In any case i had no stroboscopic effect, because it was the TV set that was synchronize at 120 hrtz with glasses ...

I have my PC connected to the HDMI/DVI 1 port in my Samsung 3DTV, but I'm using the GTX 480 mini HDMI port, not the DVI. Do I have to use an HDMI/DVI cable to try this tweaking of yours, or can I try lik this, using the HDMI/miniHDMI cable that came with the GTX 480??
I'm used HDMI/DVI cable when I had a GTX 280, but since the new fermi's having HDMI port it made easier to connect the PC through the TV.
Have you only tried the Demo Medusa, or other games as well??? I'm really curious about these results??? You said no crosstalk and ghosting, I do hope so as those new 3D Plasmas almost show any crosshair and ghosting unlike the new 3D LED TV's. I'm glad I bought plasma cause they're much better for 3D experience.

Yes, I have renamed HDMI/DVI to PC in my samsung Plasma, It shows now as HDMI/DVI - PC. I've also renamed all other HDMI's as bluray and Cable Signal.
Please, try your tweaking using the mini HDMI-HDMI cable instead of the DVI/HDMI cable and see if it also works.
2D-3D mode is OK for movies and stuff like that, for games I thought the effect was very liitle, you just have a sense of depth, little depth, but it doesn't really add anything to the game. I've only tried Just Cause 2 using the Samsung 2D to 3D conversion feature. When I played this game in my 23" 3D display using Nvidia drivers, the 3D effect was just amazing, the colours, the scenario, everything changes, graphics changes, the game actually gains life and that's a real 3D ready game. It's not just depth, that's why I think it's to little for gaming. For movies I kind like the 2D/3D conversion that the samsung new 3DTV's have, way better than Power DVD 10 and Total media 3D 2D/3D feature.
But anyway it still miles away from a real 3D content, but it's a nice feature to have in your TV, but for games I don't like it very much.

I've tried that yesterday and it didn't work, and I could see more 3D options, not just those 3 that we always see, 2d/3d, SBS and above and under format, there were other 3 formats I think. But for 3DBD I don't think it should use any as the 3D effect is different for 3DBD, it's automatic, you donn't have to choose a layout like other 3D videos format such as mkv, avi, ts among others.

Total Media 3 doesn't have an option for the new 3DTV's, just DLP as well.
So I really would like to know what kind of tweaking did you use in order to watch a bluray3D in your Samsung Plasma C8000 using Power DVD 10 MarkII????

yes it still doesnt use the new 3d like if you playd the bluray from the player. in powerdvd you have to select the 3d mode that has the nvidia logo on it. and then in the tv you have to select the middle 3d mode the one with the little guy with interlaced lines. and in total media 3 u have to select the chekerd 3d mode(second one right to left.)

I'll try another tweaks later... but I think that the game is still sending 120 frames per second even if CRT 60 hrtz is selected, and the 3DTV catch only half frames and synchronise at half of the real speed...

In the NVIDIA control panel, I enabled the 3D VISION on TV CRT 60 hrtz ... Then I sat new combinations of short keys to enable / disable 3D, increase or decrease the depth, increase or decrease the convergence etc. ...
Then I launched the demo 3D Medusa and I sat the Samsung on the last 3D mode : The frequency mode...
Must manually enable the 3D with the shortkeys, then Ctrl Alt Ins to get rid of NVIDIA 3D informations, and it works!
The PC sends 1080p 60 frames per second in sequential mode, means a 1080p image image left and then a 1080p image right... 60 times per second... means 30 complete images per second and per eye (not line interlaced) in full 3D 2x1080@30p, which is better than 24p maximum framerate for 3DTV PLAY software : 1080@24p or 720@60p for gaming...
But I do not understand how the TV synchronize... I saw no ghosting or crosstalk ... but normally you need a cable coming out of the IR emitter 3D VISION towards the TV to sync...
How does the TV know where the left and right in an alternating flow of left / right frame ?
If the TV automatically syncs to the input signal I can understand that, but how it guess what is left and what is right ? Just a matter of chance ? After all it's only 50% chance... And if it's not good, restart the game ?
That means it can also reversing sides on the way... This has to be tested... ;)
In any case i had no stroboscopic effect, because it was the TV set that was synchronize at 120 hrtz with glasses ...
I tried to put the glasses upside down to test if the flow has reversed... Apparently not ...
I will install native 3D games to test it all... ;)
If 3DTV PLAY manage all this automatically with no crosstalk... It will be great ;)

You said no crosstalk and ghosting, I do hope so as those new 3D Plasmas almost show any crosshair and ghosting unlike the new 3D LED TV's. I'm glad I bought plasma cause they're much better for 3D experience.

2D-3D mode is OK for movies and stuff like that, for games I thought the effect was very liitle, you just have a sense of depth, little depth, but it doesn't really add anything to the game. I've only tried Just Cause 2 using the Samsung 2D to 3D conversion feature. When I played this game in my 23" 3D display using Nvidia drivers, the 3D effect was just amazing, the colours, the scenario, everything changes, graphics changes, the game actually gains life and that's a real 3D ready game. It's not just depth, that's why I think it's to little for gaming. For movies I kind like the 2D/3D conversion that the samsung new 3DTV's have, way better than Power DVD 10 and Total media 3D 2D/3D feature.
But anyway it still miles away from a real 3D content, but it's a nice feature to have in your TV, but for games I don't like it very much.

I have downloaded a iso from a 3Dbluray demo and used Clone Drive to open the 3DBD. I've tried Power DVD 10 for the 1st time and it played well in my Alienware 3D display, but in the Samsung Plasma it didn't work, I set the TV as primary display and it played the 3DBD demo, I could see the double images like I saw in my 3D display, but the Samsung glasses woudn't sync no matter what I did. I've chosen the HDTV ready option in Power DVD 10 3D options, but I don't know what kind of 3DTV it's refering about, maybe is the DLP checkerboard TV's which are different from the new 3DTV's like the Samsung Plasma C8000. Total Media 3 doesn't have an option for the new 3DTV's, just DLP as well.

I have downloaded a iso from a 3Dbluray demo and used Clone Drive to open the 3DBD. I've tried Power DVD 10 for the 1st time and it played well in my Alienware 3D display, but in the Samsung Plasma it didn't work, I set the TV as primary display and it played the 3DBD demo, I could see the double images like I saw in my 3D display, but the Samsung glasses woudn't sync no matter what I did. I've chosen the HDTV ready option in Power DVD 10 3D options, but I don't know what kind of 3DTV it's refering about, maybe is the DLP checkerboard TV's which are different from the new 3DTV's like the Samsung Plasma C8000. Total Media 3 doesn't have an option for the new 3DTV's, just DLP as well.
So I really would like to know what kind of tweaking did you use in order to watch a bluray3D in your Samsung Plasma C8000 using Power DVD 10 MarkII????

Yes, I have renamed HDMI/DVI to PC in my samsung Plasma, It shows now as HDMI/DVI - PC. I've also renamed all other HDMI's as bluray and Cable Signal.
Please, try your tweaking using the mini HDMI-HDMI cable instead of the DVI/HDMI cable and see if it also works.
2D-3D mode is OK for movies and stuff like that, for games I thought the effect was very liitle, you just have a sense of depth, little depth, but it doesn't really add anything to the game. I've only tried Just Cause 2 using the Samsung 2D to 3D conversion feature. When I played this game in my 23" 3D display using Nvidia drivers, the 3D effect was just amazing, the colours, the scenario, everything changes, graphics changes, the game actually gains life and that's a real 3D ready game. It's not just depth, that's why I think it's to little for gaming. For movies I kind like the 2D/3D conversion that the samsung new 3DTV's have, way better than Power DVD 10 and Total media 3D 2D/3D feature.
But anyway it still miles away from a real 3D content, but it's a nice feature to have in your TV, but for games I don't like it very much.
Your tweaking sounds groundbreaking, I hope it also works with the mini-HDMI/HDMI cable.
How did you manage to play a bluray3D iso or a burned BD disk using Power DVD 10 or Total Media 3 connecting the PC through the Samsung Plasma???? I've tried that yesterday and it didn't work, and I could see more 3D options, not just those 3 that we always see, 2d/3d, SBS and above and under format, there were other 3 formats I think. But for 3DBD I don't think it should use any as the 3D effect is different for 3DBD, it's automatic, you donn't have to choose a layout like other 3D videos format such as mkv, avi, ts among others.

I'll try another tweaks later... but I think that the game is still sending 120 frames per second even if CRT 60 hrtz is selected, and the 3DTV catch only half frames and synchronise at half of the real speed...
So there is actually a 3D effect, but the effect is strange...
For BD3D, The result is PERFECT if you set TMT 3 or PowerDVD 10 on 3D Micro-Polarizer LCD 3D, and the Samsung Tv on the third mode : interlaced 3D mode line by line...
Please NVIDIA guys... release this 3DTV PLAY as soon as possible... So we could avoid trying to tweek the system... ;)
