3D Vision and Sasmung T27A950 3D Vision don't work
Hello,
on saturday I bought the new monitor from Samsung T27A950. At the moment the monitor runs only at 60Hrz, not at 120Hrz. Overtheless 3D Vision don't work. The monitor has it's own 3D mode. What to do?
Can I buy a new Graphic Card to support 3D Vision again, or is the 3D mode from the monitor better then 3D Vision?
My GraphicCard is the GTX285 and has no HDMI 1.4a. Do I need HDMI 1.4a to use FullHD 120Hrz.

You can use Trideff for this monitor, and keep your grafics card.
Maybe you can also try another inf file ,to make the Nvidia software think it's connected to a Planar monitor or something like that...
That would be really great...!
I think you can also use 3dtvplay,..but first I would suggest making contact with Nvidia about it...,see if this is a option.
thank you for your response. I've test another graphic card yesterday, but it didn't change anything.
I'va called Samsung Support a few times yesterday and today, and they don't know anything, but talk like they do.
I've red the manual and found all necassary informations:
The T27A950 only have 60Hz, not 120Hz like they say in commercials. (look here They say: The 9er-series have real 120)
Nevertheless the new Samsung doesn't support 3D-Vision. This Display has it's own style to convert 2d in 3d, but it's not so good in Games like 3D Vision, although more resource-sparing then 3D Vision.

The new Samsungs only support stereo3D over HDMI 1.4a - which means 2 things:
FullHD @ 120Hz is a no-go, you will need a frampacked stereo signal which is specified and limited to either 1080@24 or 720@60 per eye. There is no native 120Hz input as you mention correctly.
The GeForce cards could output such an frame-packed signal via the 3DTV Play plug-in even without a native HDMI1.4a output but support for each specific monitor needs to be implemented into the plug-in. There have been rumours of this not going to happen, but only nvidia could confirm or deny this.
If there was support for this particular monitor you would need a 3DTVPlay license either included free with your 3Dvision drivers if you do own the 3Dvision glasses or as a payable plug-in if you don't. In either case the nvidia goggles will not work with the monitor but only the Sammy glasses but AFAIK the monitor comes with glasses bundled.

Yes, that is the S27, but it is from the same series and the text says 'all series 9 display support native 120 Hz.'
Here the excerpt in german:
Die Samsung 3D-Monitore der Serie 9 werden Ihre Unterhaltungswelt dank 120-Hz-Bildwiederholfrequenz neu definieren: Lassen Sie sich von kristallklaren Bildern in unglaublicher Schärfe begeistern. Egal ob in 2D oder 3D, ob Actionszenen oder Nahaufnahmen
@quadrophoeniX
The monitor came with glasses, that's right and the 3D-Mode is genious. But nevertheless playing games with 3D Vision is the best. Therefore I hoped, I could use both, Samsung's 3D and 3D Vision, but that won't work :(
Now, I use the monitor with Full HD @60Hz and it is super. But my 3D Vision can be sold...

Yep, but when Sammy talks "series XYZ" they always refer tot hte pure TV units only - yours' a "multifunctional display"

Not quite, you might still want the emitter as a dongle to enable the "3DTV Play" to put out 3Dstereo over HDMI once this monitor is enabled - and still there are some workarounds (EDID overrides) that will enable 3DTVPlay on your systems without native support....
And if you do not need the TV functionality but want HDMI 1.4a input for movies and native 120Hz input for 3DVision I'd rather consider getting the 27" Acer and selling the Sammy and the glasses instead, since the Acer has an integrated emitter and comes with nvidia glasses bundled. Then you might even end up with money left: the Acer runs 600,- EUR in Germany /wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />
