Sorry, been away for a few days.
I got Avatar: The game for xmas which just simply looks stunning on this PJ. If you get close to a plant it pops out but a good 18 inches.
There is an annoying bug that has happened though and no-one in the game will talk to me but nothing to do with this topic.
The RBE really is hardly noticeable when gaming. I notice it most in windows especially if you try anything like word processing but then that's not what I would ever use it for day to day.
Thanks for the info on Polar Express Pele, I'm going to get it ordered later today....bring on 3D Blu Ray movies! I can't wait.

Lucky me, I also seem to be immune to the RBE
Whats the most stunning thing about this solution for me is that I also don't notice any ghosting, at all.
I would suggest this PJ to anyone that is unhappy with ghosting effects on the Samsung Synch Master (like me) and has the room to install it.
The Acer brought me back to using the 3D-Vision glasses a lot more, even to a point where I went out and bought a ton of old games on steam.
So far I have played Assasin Creed 1, Bioshock, Prince of Persia and Tombraider Underworld and I'm very happy with the visuals.
Before purchase I was a bit scared of the lower resolution (I used to play 1920x1200 bevore the Synch Master) but with the games I played so far the stereoscopic effect clearly outshines the higher resolution.
My only beef with the PJ is that it is pretty unflexible in terms of where you place it. I was spoiled a bit from my previous sanyo projectors (Z2 and Z3000) witch allowed you far greater zoom and lens shift. but then again they were in a total different price region.
I'm very exited what 2010 will bring (hopefully content, content and some more content) but for now I truly enjoy that i bought the Acer.

Good reviews. Thanks guys. I really can't see anyone taking back these projectors because it makes you feel sick. Only if there is a problem with the pj itself. And in any case they just send you a replacement. I'm gonna have to bite the bullet.

I've been struggling with this projector all day long because no matter what I do when I get into a 3d movie or game I get this message written in red in the lower part of the image:
"Warning: attempt to run stereoscopic 3d in non stereoscopic display mode..."
Otherwise the stereo is working fine but there's gotta be a way to get rid of this message.
I had various 3D displays before this projector and I think I'm quite used to the settings for stereo. It used to be that you had this message when using the wrong resolution.
But here I'm using 1280*720 at 120Hz like everybody else.
Here is what I tried:
I tried other resolutions and it did not help.
I tried to update to the latest 3D vision drivers (195.81) and I still have this issue.
I tried to deactivate the 3D Vision option on the projector menu, same thing.
So I seem to be one of the few to get this message in all cases, except for this person:

I had this message also but only when I got the wrong resolution.
- how did you connect the PJ to your card ? (I have trouble with HDMI but VGA works for me)
- does the NVIDIA controll pannel recognice the PJ as Acer (or only as Digital/Analog Device)
My setup that works:
PJ connected with the original VGA cable that came with the Acer
Windows Vista 64, geforce 8800gt, 195.81 drivers
Setups I cant get to work:
PJ connected over HDMI cable > won't work, Control panel and device manager see only a digital disüplay device and i cant set the resolution to 1280x720 at 120hz
PJ connected over vga with extender cable (worked with my old pj) > won't work, device manager sees a non p&p monitor, NVIDIA control panel sees a analog display, as bevore cant set it to 1280x720 to get s3d to work
I heared from a few people now that they can't get the PJ identified over HDMI cable, some even got told from the ACER support to send the PJ in, over VGA it should work tough.

When you install the latest driver, does it recognise the projector as an acer projector?
Is it the only display device you have plugged in to your pc?

For anyone that might get a similar problem to this: I have several of those DVI to VGA adapter dongle things kicking about, they normally come with DVI gfx cards.
It doesn't seem to matter what VGA cable i use with any of these adapters....the driver will not recognise the projector. On closer inspection there are pins missing from these little adapters on the male side.
I don't recommend using one at all.
I'm currently using a DVI to VGA cable with 15ft cable and it works fine.
I've not yet tried HDMI to HDMI but i will be trying a DVI to HDMI cable later tonight and will report back. If it works, i can't see it making much of a difference in video quality.
How long is the supplied vga cable, just as a measure of interest?
the supplied cable is under 2m, its more like a regular monitor cable then something I need to connect the PJ to my computer wich is in another room.
as dogcam suspects its probable that my vga extender cable is missing the neccessary pins :(
since my intention was to connect the pj via dvi>hdmi anyway i will wait a few days to get more oppinions on that.
Yes it is my only display and it is properly recognized in the nvidia panel as an acer projector with 3d vision capabilities (the logo is next to its name).
I tried both a DVI-HDMI cable and a DVI-VGA cable and both produce the same result.

Got my H5360 this morning. Didn't have time to setup things until an hour ago. After playing around a bit with some things, I decided to play Assassins Creed, because it's a great game and great in stereo. After playing the boring tutorial (didn't have my old saves anymore /blarg.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':/' />) I practiced moving and looking around a bit because I used to play it with keyboard and mouse and now play it with an xbox 360 controller. While looking around fast I noticed the rainbow effect. It's a bit annoying I must say, never had it on my XR-10X. Still I think that I'll get used to it. Now, about ghosting. You all say you see no ghosting, but I do see a faint ghosting around my character and other moving npc's when the environment is light. The ghosting is still less than it was on my XR-10X though, and even that was just a little.
Perhaps my comments seem a little bit on the negative side but I was just pointing out some minor issues. Apart from these the projector is great, although perhaps not that big a step up from my previous one. Maybe the best change is no more hassle when installing the drivers and especially with the 3d vision wizard; although I always managed to trick it :P Anyway, big screen stereo with DLP projection is still the only way for me (apart from maybe a passive projection setup). All the little puny LCD monitors with their shortcomings are just pathetic compared to the immersion you get from a life size stereogame ;)

I haven't seen 100% perfect extinction ratios on anything, but if the worst you get is a very faint shadow in an extremely high contrast image, then that's a good sign. The ghosting on the Samsung is bad enough that you see perhaps 25 to 35% ghosting of bulidings against sky at the top of the screen (that's just a wild guess, but it's very visible). there are stereoscopic test patterns that you can download to estimate the ghosting percentage ratio accurately ... google hard for them and you will probably turn a few up, although they assume the ghosting is constant across the display and not stronger in certain areas like the Samsung.

Is there any way to use this projector with Nvidia 3d vision drivers and some other active glasses than Nvidia's on Vista? I've heard that Nvidia has disabled this with the new Vista drivers, which would suck big time :(

If anybody can help, thank you in advance.

It doesn't seem to matter what VGA cable i use with any of these adapters....the driver will not recognise the projector. On closer inspection there are pins missing from these little adapters on the male side.
I don't recommend using one at all.
I'm currently using a DVI to VGA cable with 15ft cable and it works fine.
I've not yet tried HDMI to HDMI but i will be trying a DVI to HDMI cable later tonight and will report back. If it works, i can't see it making much of a difference in video quality.

the supplied cable is under 2m, its more like a regular monitor cable then something I need to connect the PJ to my computer wich is in another room.
as dogcam suspects its probable that my vga extender cable is missing the neccessary pins :(
since my intention was to connect the pj via dvi>hdmi anyway i will wait a few days to get more oppinions on that.

I tried both a DVI-HDMI cable and a DVI-VGA cable and both produce the same result.
