acer h5360 and ps3 1080p not working
Hello i've just got my acer h5360 yesterday, so i decided to try and watch some brd from the ps3.
I am using an HDMI HAMA 1.3 10 meters connected directly from the console to the pj. Here's my problem : if the PS3 rsolution is set to !080p the Acer project a very disturbed image and make some very scary noises. So, i plugged my ps3 to an hdtv and set the consele resolution to 1280x720p ( the acer native ), and once i plugged it to the acer everything was fine.

My ask is, why do i have to do this ? Wasn't the acer supposed to downscaling a 1080p to 720p ?

PS: The hdmi cable is fully shielded and one of the best i could find ( paid 89 euro sigh..... )

One more question : The image projected ( even with other sources ) doesn't fill the whole projection area, i mean there are blank spot ( about 10 cm ) on the sides, is this an issue or working as intended ? Thanks to all.

It is usually best that you use the native setting for your tv or projector so you won't have any problems. I don't think the acer h5360 was intended to downgrade the resolution. I believe it is always the sources responsibility. I own the acer h5360 and it has been 720p for everything I feed it.

As for the black bars on the side of the screen I believe that is the keystone correction at work ensuring you have an even viewing angle.

I hate to say it, but it's your cable. It took me 3 cables before I found one that worked at 1080p with the PS3.

Sorry to hijack the thread (a bit). But does the stereoscopic 3d games on the PS3 work on the acer H5360?

... I heard an adapter is in the works by optoma. In theory it 'd work with Acer pj. Let's just wait.

I agree. I had the same issue with my old cable, would only work with 720p on ps3. Had to buy a (eBay special) high speed 1.3a HDMI cable (was about 3 times thicker and had a braided outside to it). This now works fine. You will probably find that using the 3d vision kit at 720p from a pc will also not work. The cheaper cables simply don't have the bandwidth. My cable is 15 metres long and with the new cable I have n problems with either the ps3 or the pc.
