New to 3d Gaming... confused, need help.
Hi there folks: I just picked up a geforce750ti so I can enjoy some 3d gaming on my Sony PS3 24inch 3d TV that I use as my primary desktop monitor. The TV came with 2 pairs of 3D glasses. Have run the "set up steroescopic 3d" test inthe nvidia controll panel and things look great. I'm just not seeing any great effects while I'm playing games. I am running in HD 3D setting, 720p, 1280 x 720 @ 60 Hz. The test program looks fabulous with lots of depth. I have gone to the website and gotten "Nvidia 3DTV Play" and activated the 14 day free trial, but I'm not sure if that has had any effect at all or how to tell if it is actually running. ...I have 12 days left on my free trial. Under "steroescopic 3D type" is says "HDMI Blue-Ray 3D" with no way to change that. The slider for Depth is greyed out and un usable, as are the buttons to change "3D laser sight" and "Set keyboard shortcuts" I've read that I need to see the 3DTV Play icon somewhere on the controll panel window to know that it is actually working. Where do I need to see it and what does it look like? I have also read that there is a seperate IR emitter that I may or may not need to buy and that there are glasses that go with the emitter that will not work with the IR signal from my TV. Are these extra purchases actually necessary, and what kind of price will I be looking at? I understand that the HDTV Play software comes with a $40.00 price tag and have no problem with that. I'm just not sure that the free trial is even working so I'm hesitant to drop $$ for the permanent version. Sorry for the poor composition of my post, But I'm brain-dead after trying to figure this out on my own. I'm feeling that some $$ and some time may have been wasted. Please, any and all help and advice would be appreciated. Cheers

What are you trying to play and on what platform? I'm assuming the PS3 in the monitor is just a typo, as I could only find one particular display with a name even close to that. Have you read any setup tutorials, guides or anything?

Unfortunately, ps3 3D display is unsupported by 3D Vision listing. You can check the link below for an alternative solution. It seemed one person got it working correctly but with a Gafen HDMI Detective Plus Adapter. http://3dvision-blog.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2026 Let me know how it goes for you.

Playing mostly Mechwarrior Online and a few other games from time to time. Running windows 7 ultimate on my PC. MWO does have a 3d option in the video settings that is selectable while I'm running in HD 3D 720p, 1280 x 720. The game does appear to be in 3D. sort of... just without much depth at all. That being said.... the test program in nvidia control panel looks amazing with lots of depth and things popping out of the screen at me. And there seems to be absolutely no difference in the display after downloading and installing 3Dtv Play. it's the same mediocre 3D effects in games ( MWO, Planetside 2, and Skyrim are the ones I've tested.) as I had before downloading that software. so I'm not sure that it is working properly. There is still no apparent way to activate the depth slider in the nvidia control panel. Here's the TV/monitor in question if it helps. http://www.amazon.com/PlayStation-3D-display-3/dp/B0050SZ49Y

With your current setup you can only watch 3D movie with Nvidia 3DTV play. And for 3D Vision gaming you might need to purchase that Gafen HDMI Detective Plus Adapter. Because with the HDMI detective plus adapter you can actually flash EDID directly onto the HDMI adapter. This monitor works beautifully with Tridef 3D. Tridef 3D has 14-days trial if you want to check it out.

3DTV Play only supports HDMI 1.4 compliant 3D HDTVs/Projectors via a HDMI connection. The PS3 display is considered a monitor and not a TV, so it is not "officially" supported by Nvidia.

Thanks again for the help folks. The Gefen HDMI Detective plus Adapter looks like an interesting Idea, but It also looks a bit complicated and uncertain that it will work. I'd hate to spend money and time on it unless I can be sure it will solve my problems. Tridef 3D does indeed work great with this monitor. I had it installed with my ATI/AMD HD6850 and it works fine with this Geforce750ti. When using it, I have to manually change my monitor to "Side by side" 3D mode, but that's just the push of a button. I just assumed that I would no longer need to use it after getting the nvidia card with it's own 3d software. I'm assuming now that there is no need to buy the 3Dplay software since the monitor is not supported anyway. And I'm still not sure that the 3D play free trial installed correctly anyway as I see no difference in any of the nvidia control panel functions or my display after installing. Everything seems to be exactly the same as it was before I installed it. depth slider and other options still greyed out and un-usable. No 3D play icon or options. I guess I'm also confused why the 3d test app in the nvidia control panel works so well if this monitor is s'posed to be un-supported. I can still activate a 3D vision resolution and my monitor will detect it and go into "frame packing" 3D mode and my glasses become active. I can play games in the 1280 x 720, 60Hz 3D resolution in this mode with the glasses on, the glasses are active. There may be slightly more depth to the picture with the glasses on, but it doesn't really look any different with the glasses off.... maybe slightly fuzzier with out the glasses, but certainly not the double image that I see without the glasses when using the Tridef 3D software. Just trying to better understand it all. Cheers

This monitor also works great with iZ3D too. Although iZ3D has been discontinued but it's still working great with old games, Dolphin Emulator and ppsspp emulator. (you can also use the reset tool that's being provided on their forum for resetting the trial for unlimited usage.) This monitor also supported "Top and Bottom 3D". Enjoy! :))

Thanks D-Man11 Unfortunately, the "Set up keyboard shortcuts" button is one of the greyed out ones that I cannot click. I cannot, for the life of me, figure out how to activate these buttons or the depth slider. ( the "change 3D laser sight" button is also greyed out.)
