Ho to switch off 3DTV Play and use 3D Vision
I have a 3D TV that is HDMI 1.4 compliant with full 3D, and it is based on DLP technology and uses checkerboard format (although it accepts all 3D signal types).

With old nVidia drivers on my 3-way GTX480, I can game in 3D Vision. With the new drivers I am stuck with 3DTVPlay. 3DTVPlay is inferior on my display, because it is limiting to 1080P24 or 720P60. With the old drivers I can resize the desktop (for overscan) and game in 3D at 1824x1036 at 60Hz.

So nVidia, how can I disable 3DTV Play and use 3D Vision?

Obviously my TV is 3D Ready AND Full 3DHD since it works both ways.

Thanks, Jason

Care to answer this one Andrew?

The answer us you can't.

There are hacks though. See here: http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=191819

Here is a thread I started almost one year ago to the day asking the same question:
http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=190688

nvidia acknowledged this to be an issue and then turned their backs. Its been one YEAR and no checkerboard or SBS support anywhere in the near or, most likely, distant future.

And a few more:

http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=215912
http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=218723
http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=218714
http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=217271
and numerous shorter thread all complaining about the same issue.

The biggest crime here is that they sold us 3D Vision and then just took it away soon after they got our money.

Yeah, I tried the hack that roller11 posted and for the most part it works.

BUT....I am occasionally seeing wireframe and other glitches. Maybe a modified EDID would work better, but I'm not sure how to change it or of there is a better one already available. Oh, BTW, I'm using Mitsubish Laservue L75-A94.

After reviewing more threads, I'm hopefull that nVidia will release CB in 3DTV play this January. Since switching to Laservue (HDMI 1.4) from my older 1.3a DLP set, I have really lost interest in gaming. Before that I was always ready to pay full price to get the latest 3D Vision Ready game titles.

You already have access to CB mode so putting CB mode in 3DTV Play won't affect you.

No offense, and I'm sure you will agree, but there should be an official fix. And I say fix because it is not a new feature. nVidia broke or changed the existing code that worked before and left us hanging.

For the most part?? Rollermod is binary, it either works, or it doesn't. If you see the 3DV choices in the CP, it works. There are no "degrees" of working.

Work better??? Do you have any idea what rollermod does? It does exactly what the so-called "official fix" would do if it existed, give the user access to 3D Vision. That's all it does. If you are having artifacts, don't blame it on rollermod.
