I dont run 3d, but jsut thought i would put in that this game is buggy wnough without 3d - on SLI gtx 460's 260.99 drivers, steam download of the game the shadows are all messed up.

It is my understanding that it is normal for 3d to cause rendering isues, i wish you good luck with this game as i cannot get it to render normally as it is!

Really? Interesting. It's been working great in 2D for me. Better than great with that mod Rabid points out above. I'm not using SLI, though.

No problems with the game in 2D here, played it through several times on different video cards. Maybe an SLI issue?

Wow, lots of issues with STALKER that I don't see other than the sky rendering at the wrong depth. I changed to static lighting and the game runs fine in 3D except the sky (which I can deal with).

Which one? The original or Call of Pripyat? The latter seems to work much better.

P.S. Call of Pripyat Complete is out! http://www.moddb.com/mods/call-of-pripyat-complete

It does say in the nvidia control panel view compatability with games - Stalker - Shadow of Chernobyl - compatability Excellent, Issues and recommended settings - Render with static Lighting, AA off, "sky is at wrong depth".

I prefer the immersiveness in 3D with static lighting than 2D with dynamic lighting IMHO. The game still has that eerie isolationist atmosphere to it.

Personally, I couldn't bear the loss of dynamic lighting, and therefore gave up on 3d Stalker. I also had the jet black grass issue.

When you turn on DirectX 9 lighting effects, the grass goes nuts. Random plants will be drawn jet black. Any movement of the camera will fix the plants but other random plants go bad. The net result being flashing grass as you move and turn. Ghaaa again!

So did anyone solve this issue? I'm having the exact same problem and it's really bugging me [no pun intended]. When googling about it, I found people describing same symptoms but there were no fixes/answers whatsoever.
I'm dying to play SOC with maxed out settings on my new rig, so any help would be greatly appreciated.
