Where are we at with 3D Vision fixes for DX11 games? 3Dmigoto, Helix etc?
Hi there. Just wondering if someone can give me a sense of what rate we are progressing towards being able to fix DX11 games for 3D Vision? I know the 3Dmigoto guy has done a fix for Bioshock Infinite (which it seems can also be used on Assassin's Creed 3 with some tweaking or something?), and I found one from Helix in a thread here somewhere which I installed and which worked perfectly, though it does not appear on the helixmod blog page. However, the general overview seems to be that DX11 fixes "can't be done right now".
Is there some reason why it was doable for BI, but less so for other DX11 based titles? Is there something in the BI code which made it possible, or is it just that the guys involved don't have the time/resources right now to work on other titles?
Is there any reasonably solid time frame for when a wrapper which the broader community will be able to make fixes with will be available?
Not meaning to be impatient, I am extremely grateful for the work which has been done by the community to get so many DX9 games working so brilliantly at this time. Just wondering if someone can give me a (not too technical) overview of where we are at, and at what rate we might see progress on this.

There's promising work being done, no time frame yet. More info (and ways you can help) in this thread.

Nice to know that my work doesn't qualify except as etc.
The fact that my approach to wrapping\hooking failed I did learn a lot.
I am currently doing work on 3DMigoto.
As for Helix he might just reappear suddenly but I wouldn't bet on it.
Nice to know that my work doesn't qualify except as etc.
Well, if they knew about every single project and who's been doing what, then they probably wouldn't need to have posted the question, would they? ;)
As for Helix he might just reappear suddenly but I wouldn't bet on it.
To my knowledge, Helix has always kept to himself and has always been prone to long disappearances. What's different this time that makes people think he might never come back? Did something happen?

*Shrug*. He does disappear kind of often and shit can happen IRL. No idea what actual situation is in Russia or if it effects him since I don't follow Politics much. He did just fix the DX9 wrapper for castlevania for me like 3 weeks ago though. So he didn't disappear though I haven't talked to him about DX11.
Because of a design flaw I wasn't aware of when starting my Project Flugan wrapper is next to useless.
There are valuable Peaces like asm->bin assembler that can be used if neede in 3Dmigoto.
Chiri's 3Dmigoto does more than most and will take time to stabaliza between games.
3Dmigoto very capaable but crashes with some games.
Project Flugan almost worthless but works with almost all games.
That is what I Believe is the current state of what I've looked at.

So, probably no need to give up hope that Helix will drop in one day and throw mana to us from the sky again :D
I don't think the political situation in Crimea is anything to worry about as far as Helix is concerned. The hotzone is in the Ukraine, not Russia, and though it carries significant political consequences, I doubt even the average Ukrainian on the street has had his day-to-day life affected very much.
Russians are even further removed, and chances are that Helix is thousands of kilometres away. For Russia, flexing their muscle in neighbouring countries is simply business as usual. They've been doing it almost non-stop since the fall of the USSR, and for much of the 600 years before that too. The only reason this particular skirmish is getting so much coverage is because it's closer to the West than usual.

Well his occupation involves travel [I have no idea what it is] which is only reason I mentioned it.
I don't think its actual reason, I was just basically saying. Shit happens.
No one/even me really knows his plans since he keeps to himself and I know well enough that if he wanted to tell me something, he would. I did speak to him 3 weeks ago though.
Not to mention, no one really knows how long it would take to make a good DX11 wrapper with high compatibility. There are very little out there that and Theres a big bar from DX9. I think he is a bit of a perfectionist in some ways [then again, every person who does patches needs to be in some ways to last].

So sorry Flugan! If it makes you feel better, I actually thought you were the main guy behind 3DMigoto! I take it that is not the case, apologies to anyone else I may have inadvertently not given due credit to...
I'm pretty new to all this obviously. Rest assured I am super grateful to all in the community who devote their valuable free time to making 3D Vision such a great experience on so many titles, when Nvidia themselves seem to care so little about it.

Nevertheless, I'll continue under the assumption that whatever we can learn with 3Dmigoto will still be useful either way.

We wouldn't have anything without Helix and Chiri pioneering the big work. I want to re-emphasize that we all help in different ways.
I do want to give an clear-eyed view of where we are right now though.
Right now, we have nothing to show for our effort on DX11, with the sole exception of Bioshock Infinite.
Helix has made a BI fix that is quite good, but not as perfect as some of his fixes. Helix has yet to finalize his DX11 wrapper and release it for us to use to fix other games.
Chiri has a fix for BI that's not quite as good, but certainly usable and good on a projector. Chiri graciously allowed us to open-source his 3Dmigoto wrapper, which has tremendous promise. But right now, not a single game has been fixed with 3Dmigoto. Not even at the simpler variant of deleting effects.
Flugan's wrapper is functional, but there aren't enough features to allow someone to use it to fix a game. It might be possible to use a binary-search technique to hunt shaders. But, the reality is that like 3Dmigoto, not a single game has been fixed.
I don't want to be Debbie Downer, but I do want to be realistic. Right this second, we don't have anything. I've done a lot of software development though, and I have confidence that within a month or two we'll be able to do something. Not years, months. If we are lucky or make some breakthroughs, maybe weeks.
Hope that helps.
