Is that crosstalk I'm seeing normal?
When I run Nvidia 3D setup wizard, in the part where it asks you to cover your right eye and then left eye, I see crosstalk in one pattern but not the other. In the pattern with the green hexagons, I see no crosstalk. But in the pattern of the blue triangles, I see faint, ghost images of green hexagons. Is this normal? My 3D glasses are fully charged. In 3D games and movies, I see small amount of ghosting, probably due to the above. I know 3D Vision 2 is not going to be 100% crosstalk-free. But I'm wondering what others have experienced. I'm using ASUS VG278H monitor, GeForce GTX 480, all latest drivers (314.07).

Its normal but it shouldn't be too bad. I'm using the same monitor as you and cant see any. Try turning your contrast down.

Lowering the contrast from 90 to 75 in 3D mode reduces a lot of the ghosting green hexagons, thanks. I still get ghosting in high contrast images, of course, such as in the gallery after the Nvidia 3D wizard, the picture of Lara Croft standing on her boat still shows noticeable ghosting on the edges of the boat.

Your contrast is still to high! It should be 55 for 3D (trust I have played with it a lot) that is the optimum setting for crosstalk :-) Other points to help is to let your monitor warm up for 20 minutes. Also have you got overdrive turned up to around 60-80 in the screens menu? With the nvidia shape test on the vg278H there should be close to 0% crosstalk.

Yea holy crap 90 is sky high, surprised your not seeing bleaching at that contrast. I play at 55 too.

In 2D mode, 90 contrast may be too high; but for 3D mode, I don't think it's too high. My observation is 3D mode at full brightness and contrast looks only half as bright as 2D mode in full B/C. Isn't that how the monitor works: the backlight is only lit when the image is ghost-free, and off when it isn't? So the OVERALL brightness is only half as bright in 3D, because the backlight is lit less often. This is how the monitor is able to send ghost-free images to our glasses. So in 3D mode, even full brightness/contrast doesn't look too bright to me. Yes, lowering the 3D contrast does reduce ghosting as suggested, but then the screen becomes just too dim for me -- so dim that even some of the in-game brightness tests show that the screen is too dark.

You will end up with serious burn in at 90% contrast. There will be ghosting even if the lcd glasses were 100% black. With light-boost at 100% i find that playing in 3D is perfect, correct brightness. I can see every gradient of a black to grey scale correctly on this monitor. If the in game brightness test it too dark turn the brightness up in game, do not turn up contrast!! Contrast and brightness is not the same thing (although a higher contrast will naturally lead to a high brightness). To much contrast creates a false set of colours, and too greater disparity between dark and light colours.

They can have image persistence from static images, so maybe something like a HUD that is always in the same spot, but it's not based on brightness, it's based on duration.

Its like, SUPER ghosting (it seems like the shutters don't block the light at all. I don't know what this is called, so I used the word 'burn'. This effect only is 100% removed in all circumstances (that I have witnessed) once the contrast level is put to 55%. You still have ghosting at this level, but not this insane image ghosting you have when contrast is higher. For anyone with this monitor, play with contrast on the Tombraider ship and you should notice it on high contrast points. If there is a name for what this kind of extreme cross talk is, please anyone chime. But to sum it up, you have a choice. Super high contrast and you get a load of this 'super' cross talk horribleness, or you lower the contrast and suffer a little brightness. I choose the latter as to me that is far more preferential.
