Well actually, there's actually no such thing as a HDMI 1.4 cable.

Cable manufacturers are no longer allowed to label their cables with a HDMI version number as part of their licensing agreement.

Read the following from HDMI.org http://www.hdmi.org/consumer/buying_guide.aspx

Choosing the Right HDMI Cable
When it comes to selecting a cable, the HDMI version number is never relevant. There is no such thing as a “Version 1.4 cable” or “HDMI 1.3 cable” - these terms are solely the creation of manufacturers’ marketing efforts. Cables are instead rated by their performance capabilities. There are five HDMI cable types to choose from:

Standard HDMI Cable - Designed to handle most home applications, the Standard HDMI Cable can reliably transmit 1080i or 720p video plus surround audio.
Standard HDMI Cable with Ethernet - Same baseline performance as the Standard HDMI Cable, plus a dedicated Ethernet channel for Internet connection sharing and device networking.
Standard Automotive HDMI Cable - Designed for internal cabling of motor vehicles equipped with onboard HD video systems.
High Speed HDMI Cable - Designed to handle video resolutions of 1080p and beyond, including advanced display technologies like 3D and 4K.
High Speed HDMI Cable with Ethernet - Same baseline performance as the High Speed HDMI cable, plus a dedicated Ethernet channel for Internet connection sharing and device networking.

The name/label is irrelevant...you need a hdmi 1.4 cable = hdmi 3D cable = high speed hdmi cable

There is no fundamental difference between the standard speed and the high speed hdmi cables, the wiring is the same and so are the signals.
The only difference is cable quality to insure signal integrity is maintained over the length of the cable and protected against interference.
With a poor quality cable, the signal will be of such poor quality at that the display won't be able to differentiate 0s and 1s.
A high quality cable allows the signal integrity to be maintained farther and at higher frequency.

The Hdmi versionning or the "standard/high speed" name of the cable won't tell you it's exact quality, because these are only a matter of certification. The certification guarantees a minimum performance but tells nothing about the maximum performance of the cable.
At the time of Hdmi 1.0/ 1.2 there was no such a thing as "high speed" certification, when Hdmi 1.3 came around, the high speed distinction was created and manufacturers could claim their difference with the higher speed certification.

A good example would be Monster cable : these cables are of extreme quality, they are far far far above the hdmi requirements, there is absolutely no purpose for such overkill quality, buying such a cable is simply throwing money away, BUT , if you do have an old Monster Hdmi 1.0 cable, there are 99.99% chances it will work with hdmi 1.4 3D devices.
It's actually one of their marketing points (they guarantee that their overpriced cable will still work with future Hdmi improvements).

But this isn't limited to their cables, your old Hdmi cable may well be able to handle the 3D bandwidth if it's high enough quality, the only way to know is to try.
Save yourself 10$, try your old cable first, if it doesn't work then get a newer certified cable.

The "For the ultimate 3D TV gaming experience, get NVIDIA 3DTV Play" message appears when the software is not installed.

1) Download this file and install: 3DTV Play
2) If you purshase the product, Nvidia send you an Activation Number....copy-paste this number when the installation is over when ask for the Activation Code.
3) If you do 1 and 2 and get the same result, test with a hdmi 1.4 cable (hdmi 1.2 cable dont work with 3D).
