3DTV Play Activation not working.
  12 / 15
Nvidia's activation servers have been having problems and they are aware of it, with no ETA for a fix. This affects both new and existing customers. So they've pulled 3DTV Play from being sold because of the issue. Their current solution is having everyone use the 3DTV Play trial, which has been increased from 14 days, to 180. http://www.nvidia.com/object/3dtv-play-overview.html http://www.nvidia.com/object/3dtv-play-14day-trial.html

I try to activate every few days. 66 days left. * The licensing server is unavailable. Try again later.

Been broken for many months now. It's just a PITA since you have to go through the whole thing every time you reboot your PC. I had a valid install until my PC crashed earlier this year and I tried to reinstall 3DTV and found the activation server was down. How hard can it be to put a server up to do this? If a good IT guy couldn't do this in half a day, he ought to be fired. If they are not going to fix it, release an unlocked version and be done with it. I already paid for this garbage and I can't use it.

This is a joke, 3 months since nvidia acknowledgement and still no fix. I'm getting my money back now while I can. I you want my (and many more people) money go show some respect for consumers. In my mind will preserve that nvidia killed stereoscopy gaming. Great precedent for trusting now VR.

Good news, Digital River won't refund the purchase. They say they don't after 30 days of purchase. Normally this is after activation (not the case). I think I'm going to sue them or something, for real this time. Any info on Digital River store is welcome. edit: I couldn't find their terms page for nvidia, only this one. I already gathered all the information and if they don't reply in a few days I will present a formal complaint.

Can anyone confirm if the activation issue is only affecting clients who purchased 3DTVPlay separately (those who DON'T have an IR emitter attached), or is it affecting all clients (even those who HAVE an IR emitter attached?) As some users in this forum reported they have IR emitter attached and still can't use 3DTVPlay, so I'm confused. Can anyone who has an emitter attached and recently upgraded windows or hardware verify this?

I have no issues using an emitter as a product key to unlock 3DTV Play for free on my PC using Windows 7 64 bit. Currently using 355.82 as my driver.

Thanks. I'm glad to hear it activates at least with the emitter. Have you recently reinstalled a clean windows 7 and then successfully activated 3DTVPlay by emitter, or just updated the display driver? I'm also curious to find if the previous activation is erased by fresh windows or with every driver update. I'm planning hardware upgrade and installing a clean Windows 10 so just wanna be absolutely sure :) I don't wanna lose my working 3DTVPlay under any condition coz I use it for HMZ-T1 HMD.

3DTV Play only works via a HDMI connection on HDMI 1.4 compliant Projectors/3D HDTVs and some VR Headsets. The emitter simply acts as a product key to unlock Nvidia's stereoscopic middleware drivers. You do not need to install the trial. You must install the stereoscopic portion of the drivers during the install of the driver, just like you do with 3D Vision. The emitter must remain connected at all times. If the emitter is built into a 3D Vision certified monitor, the monitor must remain connected and acts as a product key. Provided that the TV is HDMI 1.4 compliant and 3D capable, you should see a "green" 3DTV Play logo in the Nvidia control panel. Just like you would see a "green" 3D Vision logo in the control panel. When 3DTV Play was first launched, support was added on a display by display basis. So 3DTV Play's first driver only supported a handful of displays. The next driver supported a few more, and so on. Until they finally added universal support to include and HDMI 1.4 display (excluding monitors). So, this simply means that only a few select HDMI 1.4 displays can be used on an older system, using older drivers and Windows XP/Vista. 3DTV Play "will not" work with Nvidia's glasses. The emitter is disabled and only acts as a product key. 3DTV Play requires that you use the display manufacturer's glasses/emitter or compatible 3rd party glasses/emitter.

@everybody who want to buy 3D TV Play or use 3D Vision: Do not buy this product. In this thread every one can see the working of the nvidia support: there is none! If you want to use 3D on your TV, then buy a BD-Player for 3D BD`s or use an USB-Stick directly on your TV. HTPC for gaming and TV without 3D. I think we should not support a company which does not care about the customer! I'm planning an update of my GTX770 within the next 6 months and I will buy AMD. The last 12 years was allways a nvidia card in my PC and the owrkstation PCs in my company. 2 weeks ago we upgraded the workstation card (14 Cards @ 18000€) from nvidia to AMD in my company.
