Uh... I WANT hostility. I WANT to know who hates 3D and for them to pipe up so i can engage them directly. Its a chance to provide incite and answers. Do you seriously think any immersive gamer with a brain doesn't want the game world laid out before them? They do, they just don't know its possible. Btw, i remember your thread about getting devs not to intervene and i disagreed, sorry and thats putting it mildly. The Crysis 2 producers need a verbal boot up their asses.

You are absolutely right they do.

Unfortunately it doesn't work does it. I appreciate the softly softly approach is also pretty unsuccessful but I have found quite a lot of sympathy from forum members and at least a few misinformed, but non-flame messages saying, it's too expensive, I'll wait until holograms etc. Also it is hard to argue against adding more options in the advanced graphic menu because lots of people will benefit. I have so many games which look awesome which aren't 3D Ready. I have little tweaking expertise but have managed to make many games look great enough to demo to people.

I have however noticed going in all guns blazing does put people's backs up. Mate, the world is anti-3D. The current PC Gamer has an article on monitors '[color="#0000FF"][i]Quite rightly though BenQ have played down its 3D credentials... but gaming goggles are already looking like a spent fad[/i][/color].' Where they get their facts to back up that statement I have no idea, but that's the commonly held opinion. And if people '[i]know[/i]' this to be '[i]true[/i]', what do you think banging on to get them to sort themselves out must sound like to the rest of the world?

That thread about not wanting devs to intervene was caused by devs intervening and ballsing everything up! Crysis 2 - rubbish 3D, DE:HR locked out nVidia users! What did the devs do about it? Crysis 2 - nothing, DE:HR unlocked 3D but 3D is still rubbish. Obviously when devs do it right it is awesome and everyone would love for them to render things correctly all the time. It's blatently obvious which effects are 2D nowadays because they look rubbish - Shogun 2's fire and explosions for instance. It is just encouraging them to render correctly because it is good practice which is difficult. I think that is what MTBS3D are trying to do and I sincerely wish them luck.

I really want someone to convince a developer to use kickstarter for 3d vision implementation of a game before release. Like they promise 3d vision ready and we cover costs of man hours/ 3d glasses/monitor(we'd only have to do that once per studio). Donations of $50/$60 recieve the game as a free pre-order on release. Like $600.00 and game is 3d ready. Covering man hours/cost in gauranteed pre-orders offers incentive to developers especially since this is gauranteed money with incentive of more people buying it once they hear its a good game and is 3d vision ready.

It's amazing how ignorant a lot of hardcore gamers are about 3D, even supposedly intelligent people. Either they say it's just a fad (people have been saying that since Jaws 3D back in the 80s), or they say they say they'll go 3D when it's holographic, ignoring the fact that holographic 3D wouldn't be that great for gaming, or they say it's just a trick and not 'real 3D', ignoring the fact that 3D is actually using the in-built depth perception of your brain in exactly the same way as when you look at the real world.

Sadly until these people try their favourite game in 3D they're not going to get it. The line I like to use in these debates is - 3D is like the difference between looking at a picture, and being there.

Maybe when 120Hz monitors are widespread it'll become more mainstream.

Well I "half" fixed it. Crosshair is in 3d(hud is too, i could seperate it IF i had all the guns), shadows removed, fog fixed. Not gonna put this on the site because its only half fixed.


I could not find shader for target/objective markers, water. Both issues can be fixed but couldnt find them. Not too interested in this game tbh. If someone can find the shaders and label them I will fix it further http://helixmod.wikispot.org/oldvers

Edit: This is awesome, thanks. I'm going to spend some time trying to find the marker shaders tomorrow. I just had a thought, would it be possible to contact the developers and ask them what the shaders are? You are helping people enjoy their game more after all :)

Wow I never realised how tedious going through all these shaders is. I have a new appreciation for those who put in all this work to get the games looking so good!

Anyway, I've found some and I hope I've done this right:

-Water seems to be Pixel Shaders 3336 0xAF45AF8F and/or 4130 0xB2B0D4DA

-Floating player markers is Pixel Shader 1655 0x803E0C4C

-Floating player names is Pixel Shader 2961 0x44D7527C

I've been through all the pixel and vertex shaders at least three times and can't find the floating health markers. I have just realised I have used an older version of the debug dll. I hope that doesn't change any of these? Where do I find the latest debug dll?

Would be great to find a solution to the hud elements not being 3d, as it's a brilliant game, and I still play it with 3d vision but with zero % depth to bring the hud elements to single point.

Playing like this makes seeing enemeies more clearly moving against backgrounds/foregrounds etc, but I do miss the depth aspect.

C'mon Hirez/Nvidia - this is so close it hurts!
Would be great to find a solution to the hud elements not being 3d, as it's a brilliant game, and I still play it with 3d vision but with zero % depth to bring the hud elements to single point.
