3D vision with a compatible projector???? Is it dvi only for 120 hz
Hi , I have a gtx 680 and am looking for a compatible projector for 3d vision 2.On the nvidia website its shows a setup diagram which shows dvi cables must be used for 120hz displays to get stereoscopic 3d.How can i attatch a dvi cable when the projectors dont have dvi ports. Am i missing something or do you connect through HDMI, because i emailed nvidia and they said you must use DVI?

No, you can use HDMI for 120Hz displays, but they can only be 1280x720@120Hz. Those are typical lower cost projectors like the Acer H5360 I use (with HDMI). The dual dvi is for larger monitors where HDMI does not have enough bandwidth. Your next question will no doubt be about 1080p projectors. :-> There does not appear to be a good 1080p projector at present, because they don't support dual-dvi and hence don't have enough bandwidth to run at 120Hz, and so 3D gaming only works at 24Hz, which is not that great.

thanks for your reply, i thought that you could set up a projector to be as good as a monitor at 3d but 24hz per eye seems not so good. How is your Acer? Is it worth trying or should i just wait for the oculus rift HD version to fully emerse myself?

I suggets you buy 3d vision certified 720p projector, they are dirt cheap. bo3b mentioned Acer H5360, id recommend that or optoma hd66/67n. I own expensive jvc 2d projector and optoma hd67n 720p nvidia projector and tbh 2d doesnt look that much worse on the optoma. 3d performance is flawless, much more immersive than my 1080p benq xl2411t 3d vision screen.

It still baffles me that there isn't at the very least a 1080p 60hz 3D capable DLP projector using checkerboard 3D like my DLP TV is. Edit: OT but Ohhhh they added a Preview Button to posts. :) That must have been why I was seeing 'blank' posts from myself at the bottom of the pages most of yesterday.

No perfection to be had. But, pretty damn great is available. Depends upon what is most important to you. Color accuracy and brightness are better on monitors, but crosstalk/ghosting is worse. I care most about crosstalk, and DLP projectors have zero crosstalk, at the expense of brightness. I'm super happy with the H5360. I know that other people run the HD66 and like it. Glasses matter, and best glasses appear to be 3D Vision 2. Do some google searches with "site:geforce.com" in them, and you'll find a lot of projector discussions here.

So is there any chance to see a projector 3D Vision ready 1980x1020@120Hz ? I cant believe they are unable to make it nowadays.. Why is that 720p only ?

Why? Because HDMI is suck! More powerful DP 1.2/1.3 and Dual-DVI can do 1080p60 in 3D (at least from 2010 year), but all manufacters KILL this interfaces in ALL 1080p projectors! Why? Because fucking HDCP! It is second suck! All together they retarding progress in 3D capability
