Underscan / Overscan Mitsu DLP
I have a mitsubishi WD-65837 TV and am having some trouble with overscan. I have created a custom desktop resolution that fits the tv, which is fine for some games I play. But with others the custom resolutions is not supported, specifically RA3. RA3 resizes to the larger 1080p size regardless of the resolution it is set to run on.

What I need to know is if there is a way to modify underscan /overscan like they have on ATI cards. Which I am honestly shocked that there is not an option in the Nforce control panel for this.

Also does anyone know if NVidia 3d works with non-nvidia cards?

Thanks

Just run your screen in 1768x992, thats what I run and have never had any problems, its pretty much a standard resolution. If you use that, then pretty much every game out there will recognize it.

Hi

Take at look at this FAQ to fix your overscan issue.

I have already resized my tv using the nvidia sliders. the problem is that it reduces the playable resolution and makes the picture a little fuzzy. What I am wanting is the full 1080p picture, just smaller so it fits into the screen. Kinda like what the reduced 1080p picture is when the tv is out of 3d mode. Or like what the ati graphics cards drivers are capable of doing, just shrinking the picture size. Does anyone know how to do this with nvidia cards?

Hi

Please use the tools in the Suppot Article. It wont make the picture look fuzzy and it will do exactly what you requested (shrink the picture size).

I use the resize desktop so it's running at a lower res (1866 or something), and with or without resizing the text is not very sharp on the Mitsu DLPs, I doubt it's nvidia's fault there. Text was razor sharp on my old Samsung 720p DLP (HLN617W)

Getting my 3d vision glasses tonight, doing some reading on possible issues ahead of time :)

you can get almost any game to run in custom resolutions with a little hacking- i even got a 11 year old game Descent 3 to run recently. search is your friend.

the signal is still 1080p they just adjust the front end timings to make the signal compatible with a tv. if you are having sharpness problems with the dlp turn off geometry correction in the tv menu- and it will be razor sharp. i have not noticed any loss of picture quality.

on the mit dlp press- menu 2 4 5 7 - when the service menu pops up then hit 0, go to manual geometry correction and then hit enter- when in the menu press 1 then enter. you now are running without geometry correction.

you can always restore it later in the same menu. this will give you super sharp text- on my tv their is a little bow at the top of the screen that is only noticeable in windows apps- blue ray and gaming it is not noticeable. i could probably get ride of the bow if i wanted to re-aim the mirrors in the tv but it not worth my time at the moment. you may or may not have any issues with your tv- it just depends how well it was made and how carefully it was shipped.

I ended up with 1824 x 1026 on my mitsu dlp which happens to be the exact same aspect ratio as 1920 x 1080. I suggest trying that res instead of 1768 x 992.
