Advice re Projector
  1 / 2
Hi all, I'm keen to get a 3D ready projector but wanting some advice on best model (money no objective, rather availability)? I live in Australia & cannot find the Acer H5360 available anywhere. What is the next best for 720p? Also what is the user experience like, I have a pg278q, & curious about the picture fidelity with the variance in resolutions...

Well currently best possible picture quality on projector seems to be achieved used latest Migoto wrapper and using 1080p TopAndBotton display mode (that applies to many latest DX11 games, there is no support for DX9 games yet). So actually you should get some DLP based 1080p projector. I personally use Benq w1070 - and its fine in 720p and fandastic in 1080 tab mode. Regarding 1080p SBS mode - check another thread - its all explained there.

Its not a big step from w1070 but i would recommend getting the new model over w1070. I'd do it just for the noise levels, the w1110 has much quieter noise levels compared to the w1070. I believe its 3db on paper but its quite a difference, ive had both. My personal recommendation is to get w1110. Its the king of its price range for 2d image quality and does 3d very well too. Low input lag for a projector, around 30ms. I settled for it after trying few different models over the past year. Now that you can use 3dmigoto to do 1080p TAB mode, the 3d image quality is better than 720p projectors have. Even before when you were locked to use same resolution on both, native 1080p had advantage in my eyes. Less sde, better colors and contrast. Latter two are mostly because of price range, 720p 3d vision projectors tend to be in the very affordable price range while you could spend 2-10x amount more on 1080p 3dtvplay enabled projector.

Ok so just had a read of the TaB 1080p option, what's the 3D picture quality like vs monitor? Is their regular sli support, depth, convergence, etc?

Yep, all that stuff (depth, convergence, sli) is the same on a monitor or projector. My recommendations would echo Sammy's. I have the W1070 and it's great, and it sounds like W1110 is a (small) improvement.

Since now I've only been able to play 720p 60 Hz with 3DTVplay on my tv, or 1080p 60 Hz on my PC monitor. I tried googling it and searched in the forum, but it seems to me there is not a dedicated topic about this 1080p TAB mode. Thank you in advance

1110 is big bang for buck but i would go w3000 if going dlp. motion interpolation is something i could not live without, especially in 3d movies but if you only care about gaming, 1110 gives more for the money.

I would also like to know how to activate 1080p TaB mode ( i have a benq 1080st). Any recommendations for the Acer Predator z650? Another poster here showed some pictures / wrote impressions that it may rival the PQ of the benq 1070 / 1080 and it has gaming-specific features.

I would say the z650 looks a bit better then the w1070. But if you want to adjust multiple 2D Standard modes you shouldn't buy it for now because there is only one 2d user mode and every time u change something on one of the standard modes the user mode gets overwritten with these Settings. For 3D there is one standard mode and one user mode but when 3D activates Standard 3d mode is active so u have to switch to user 3d mode every time if u want to use user 3d mode. For me the Standard 3d mode is ok. The z650 is short throw.

First, know that AFAIK, this is not supported in every dx11 game. Second, you do not have to jump through all those hoops as shader hackers already have it implemented in most of their games. Also, work is being done to implement this feature in dx9 by DarkStarSword

As to point 2, I did it just for witcher 3, and sincerily for this game I couldn't find a way to do it without jumping through all thoose hoops. If you know a better way let us know ;)
