3D vision is a scam

Cheers working perfectly now, although couldnt get convergance to work, well it wasnt showing a bar like depth was in CS:GO... the weird thing is.. it was entirely resolved by lowering my viewpoint or raising it.. instead of being central to the screen i have to be just above or below it, which is weird because i don't get this problem with movies or the xbox 360, it shows in 3d properly from any angle... however not the case for pc... any idea why lol?

You have enabled the advanced keys? Convergence doesn't show a bar like depth and sometimes you have to keep hold of the convergence + or button for a few seconds to really notice any change. As for the screen not working when looking at it from mid point, that makes no sense to me at all. For the objects to be perfectly in perspective you should be at a 90 degree angle and looking directly at the screen. Moving to the sides or up and down should skew the 3D not make it better. Glad you got it fixed though. Have fun gaming in 3D ;-)

yea its cool.... is there anyway like a file mod to get 1366×768 1600×900 resolutions working in 3D? I use 1600x900 for games i don't get 60 frames at 1080p... if not i hope they add these resolutions in the future... we might be able to get 60hz or 50hz at 1600x900 which would be a dramatic improvement over 720p

Pretty sure it is a limitation of the tech (HDMI) not the software. Don't think you're going to fix is via a hack. Just by putting on 2 - 4 x AA and should help a lot.

well if 3d display modes can only run in 720 and 1080 thats understandable.. but if it can run in other resolutions it would be a nice addition.

noticing absolutely no difference for convergance though, even took off glasses and tried it, nothing is changing :S

And you definitly have the advanced controls box ticked in the nvidia 3D driver settings? What game are you playing? Some games have convergence locked, mYbe that is the case here.

yeah its ticked, ill try some other games. But the 3d isn't actually all that great i mean nothing really pops out much, mainly the GUI/HUD sticks out from the 3D. using anaglyph looked waaaay more 3d. edit: convergance is working.. not really sure what the tweak is best to but as far as i remember from anaglyph is to make the closest 3d object be completely blended/normal looking without the glasses to give the highest pop out effect to closest things, or have the image blend at whatever you want to have the maximum pop out effect at desired range. amirite?

convergance does not work in bf3 -_- so the 3d effect looks.. not 3d.. meh.. good in CS:GO and stuff tho

Convergence should be as high as you can get it without distorting things close to your view yes. Since BF3 is a 3D Vision ready title it doesn't use convergence in the same way, it locks convergence to different profiles, like when your aiming, in a vehicle or just running about. http://3dvision-blog.com/6479-how-to-adjust-the-stereo-3d-convergence-setting-in-battlefield-3/

yea i was wondering what that 3d vision thing in compatibility meant.. But sadly, 3d play is piss poor on BF3 to the point i cannot even really see any difference between 3D and off, it is like there is no convergance and simply just splits the image into two and provides no real depth. However after tweaking CS:GO it looks amazing although aiming is very disorientating even with the laser. aiming in black ops 2 on the 360 in 3d is perfect though, the crosshairs and ADS line up perfectly with shots, although its acid to the eyes to look at the crosshair or sights because they are rendered in perfect shape making them stick in front of the screen like the UI. thanks for the utility link

Having 3D Play wont effect your ability to change the convergence in BF3. Follow the guide in the link.
Pretty sure it is a limitation of the tech (HDMI) not the software. Don't think you're going to fix is via a hack. Just by putting on 2 - 4 x AA and should help a lot.
There is both a technical and a software limitation. The technical limitation is not in Hdmi (it does supports any resolution you'd want up to 1080p60), it's in the hardware chips chosen by Nvidia and the display manufacturer. Current displays only use the Hdmi 1.4 minimum specs (720p60 and 1080p24), but manufacturers could do much more, hdmi chips capable of transmitting stereo 1080p60 have been around for over 2 years, but no display manufacturer used them yet. AMD has included them since their HD6000 graphics cards and Nvidia introduced them in the GTX680 (it was announced in the GTX680 introduction press release and many reviews reported it), but Nvidia removed any mention of it on it's current web page. The software limitation is in the Nvidia control panel, it doesn't allow you to choose which resolution you want to use and forces 720p60 or 1080p24. A non-limited software would allow you to freely choose any resolution you want, even if not supported and makes your monitor go out of range (black picture on most displays, some displays show an "out-of-range" message). In 2D mode, the windows resolution manager and the Nvidia control panel limit the resolution and only show supported resolutions reported by the display, you have to use the custom resolution utility to purposely set a different resolution. In 3D mode, you can't do it and Nvidia clearly stated on multiple occasions that 3DTV play only supports 720p60 and 1080p24. So even if you buy a display that supports more, 3DTV play won't use it until Nvidia approves of it. On AMD cards, the 3D output follows the 2D configuration, which lead many people to frequently force activate 1080p60stereo and make displays go out-of-range. Earlier drivers didn't even have a hardware check, allowing people to force hardware modes unsupported by the card and crash.

I thought you could unlock convergence in BF3. I'd search google before i gave up on that.
