IM thinking of getting a 3DTV to game in 3D is it worth it?

Specs:
CPU i73960x
GPU: 3way sli GTX 680 classified Hydro Coppers
Ram: 24gb
2 questions:
1st is my EVGA GTX680 Classified GPU compatible with 3DTV Play Sofware?
2nd Ive heard that 3D Vision 2 glasses are better than 3DTV play.
I am only going with 3DTV play cause i cant game on a stupid small monitor!
So for games like Alice Madness Returns, is it worth it to game on a 3DTV?
has anyone tried it>? have you also tried 3D Vision 2 Glasses?
All i care about is gaming at 60fps with 3D
A few points to note
-Your card is compatible, but a little underpowered for the latest games in 3D. You're essentially having to render 120FPS to get a smooth 60fps per eye. I'd recommend considering 2-way SLI 970s. 3-way SLI doesn't make much difference in 3D
-That said, your card should run older games okay in 3D
-3D is great, and most people will say it adds a lot to the experience
-With a 3D TV you'll have to play at 720p
-If you get a 3D Vision monitor, you'll be able to play at 1080p
-You'll have a much better experience with a projector. You'll still be limited to 720p, but this somehow looks much better on a projector than a TV, and the cost difference is minimal. I'm projecting onto a normal off-white wall, and the picture quality and immersion is excellent.

I have to concur with Pirateguybrush. I recently purchased a BENQ W1070 and I did have concerns about gaming in 720P since I prefer max resolution where possible. The games do look better on a projector than they did with my previous setup. I am gaming in 720P and absolutely love the larger screen. This is obviously subjective and in response to 3DTV Play, although you can play games in 1080P, it will mean that you have the configure the game at 1920x1080@24hz. 3DTV essentially has to modes, either 1280x720@60Hz or 1920x1080@24hz. You'll have to determine yourself which you prefer. The projector will yield best results with proper environment, setup, screen....etc... I'm ok with 3DTV Play, but there seems to be no advancement with the software.

3 way SLI 680s, you should by fine for 60fps if you turn down a settings or 2. If you are set on a 3DTV, rather than a projector or monitor, make sure you do your research. The best 3D gaming experience available, IMO, is a 3DTV that supports 1080p checkerboard 3D with little to no crosstalk. I'm not sure what model that would be these days. All I know is my Samsung 55es7500 has produced the sharpest 3D image of all my displays but it also has the most crosstalk, even though the crosstalk is still quite minimal. Here's my ranking:
1. 3DTV with checkerboard. It produces the sharpest, cleanest 3D image. If you can find one with no crosstalk this would be the best option.
2. 3D projetor. Zero crosstalk unless the is something wrong with the game itself. Limited to 720p though, even when downsampled is noticeably less sharp than 3D checkerboard on a TV
3. 3D Monitor. Supposedly 1080p 3D but all 3D vision monitors I've seen, with lightboost, have pixel inversion artifacts that cause a screen door like effect. Checkerboard 3D is clearer, even though the monitor is displaying full 1080p 3D. That combined with the small size make is my least favorite option.

are you absolutley sure i cant get 60fps on a 3DTV?????
I really want a projector but it HAS GOT TO BE 1080P minimum!
I dont know why the only Nvidia 3D Vision supported projectors i seem to find are all 720P :(
I would either:
- stay with 3D Vision 2 and played while sitting really, really close (that's what I do)
- buy Sony TV, if you research the topic properly, you'll find a good models, that accept 720p120 while supporting both low input lag and low persistence. I have no info on 1080p120 signal (required for 1080p at 60fps in 3D)
What's low persistence?
This:
http://www.blurbusters.com/faq/60vs120vslb/
Personally I wouldn't go for projector - There is no low persistence model with 1080p. and buying a 720p one in 2014 is just... nah..
I don't ever want to play 3D games on anything below stable 60fps with low persistence. I can settle for 720p, even if I know that 1440p should be used by now, since it's really needed. But not 30fps or non-LP displays. Hell no - that's like going back 30 years in image quality. Simply NO.

I disagree about the projector. I have Acer H5360 pj and normal Samsung 2233RZ monitor (very old monitor), and I usually prefer to play using the monitor..., and here are the reasons:
1 - Comfortability: I do not have to change my position, nor turning on the pj, nor listening to noise.
2 - Resolution: 1680x1050 vs 720p.
3 - Driver depth: I know how to tweak to change depth to fix the problem, but it is a bit bothering.
4 - Power consumption.
5 - Image quality: I disagree too that the image quality is better using the pj. Of course the image is bigger using the pj and there is no ghosting effects, but using the monitor at the recommended distance is almost the same size in reality. About ghosting..., in most games it is not a real problem for me, I get used to it.
6 - Time to play: with the monitor you can play at any time even in a clear room, you do not have why to wait until night or installing the computer in a special room to make possible to play without natural light.
Anyway, playing with the pj is not bad for me, sometimes I prefer to play using the pj and I like, but normally I prefer the monitor. What specially bothers me more is the 1st point.

Will the Following Projector work for 1080p 3D 60FPS?

Im looking at the specs and its definitley 1080P 3D. I just dont know for sure whether it will do 3D at 60FPS.
For Alice Madness Returns. Since its prettty old, i think my rig could more than handle 120fps at max settings 3D
3 years ago I moved and gave away my H5360 to some kids, and a PC I built for them, thinking I wanna go big and clear/crisp. I got a "checkerboard" Mitsubishi Laserview, which with some help from some folks here, tried and tried, but never reached my level of satisfaction. I returned that (which cost a bunch) and got a huge TV/Aquos for TVplay. With the lag at 1080p/24 and [s]crosstalk[/s] ghosting using the glasses that came with the TV, that lasted about 3 weeks and was "depressed" that I spent that much money, but at least I have a good TV, which my wife watches now and then. Several months ago, I found a new H5360, and put up a 110" screen/wall mount, not pull down, pull down curls on the bottom, or use the wall. To get my "kinda" 1080p:
https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/778329/dsr-with-3dtv-play/#4371632
I still have a separate system for surround/single screen, but big screen is projector and yes, lots of pros and cons, and yes, still waiting for native 1080p/hdmi 2.0 or whatever it takes...
Take your time, do your research. Might be a couple guys that have saved a couple of threads on this topic as it comes up about every 3-4 months. And have fun :-)
EDIT-on the PJ, I sit 8' back and get sucked in to every game played.
And, Thank you again!, to the "fixers" of these games!! - taking a break from my work keeps me sane. I appreciate it.

Samsung series 8 do checkerboard 3D, with a big screen you wont beat it. A lot of people are talking about 1080p 24hz or 3Dtv play or even 720p all completely useless if you ask me when you can get a native 1080p sammy TV with checkerboard and its crisp and smooth. my ES8000 is just bloody awesome, big, colourful and bright! I can also run 1080p 30fps per eye in frame pack mode, but again its nowhere near as good as checkerboard. Menus are completely readable and its way better than SBS.
i hear the new sammy 4K tv's can run 1080p 60fps per eye (confirm anyone?)
pick up an older model for a cheap awesome experience. personally im waiting for oculus as my next 3D adventure rather than upgrading my screen to 75+ inches, you can beat all round viewing for fraction of the price

There are definitely, absolutely, positively no projectors or TVs that will do 1080p 60hz 3d. 1080p/24hz or 720p/60hz are your only options, unless you get a monitor.
I'm in the position of owning both a 1080p/120hz 3D monitor, and a 720p/60hz projector, and the projector blows the monitor away. If you put on a high quality AA method, it's honestly hard to see the difference in resolution for 3D on the projector. It's definitely a very easy thing to notice on a TV/monitor, but for some reason the projector handles it much better.
My projector is a BenQ W1070, and it's worth noting that it does support 1080p in 2D, so if I want to use it for other things, I can turn it back up.

I don't mean to state the obvious, but a 24" LCD at a normal desk viewing distance occupies a bigger area of your vision than pretty much any size of TV will when viewed from your couch. It's why console games need much larger text.
