Just an FYI for anyone looking at the new Panasonic AE7000U projector. I hooked mine up today with the new 3rd gen Panasonic glasses. The results are stellar. Just like the hundereds of reviews and user testimonials, this projector lives up to the hype. Absolutely zero ghosting when playing Skyrim. As hard as it is to believe the image is clearer, brighter and easier on the eyes than my 54" Panasonic Viera. The image is nothing short of amazing. Even at 1280X720. There are no major jagged edges. You have to see it to understand just how fantastic the quality is. It actually looks better on the 10 foot screen than on my 54" monitor.
3D movies really shine too. I only watched 30 minutes or so, but what I saw was very good. There was some ghosting at first. Very minor, but it is noticeable during certain scenes. Once I turned the setting down to Cinema and the glasses setting to normal from bright it pretty much went away. Just like the reviews state it looks much better than the movie theater. The images pop out significantly more and the overall feel is a richer 3D experience.
The new glasses are a big difference as well. I put my old Panasonic glasses on and they felt clunky and heavy. Not to mention slightly darker than the new glasses.
Anyway, I wish I could get some video of it in action with Skyrim for people to see. It really is an immersive experience. Not to mention sitting on the couch is much more comfortable than sitting in a charir.
I switched to the Xbox controller to use on the couch. It's taking some time getting adjusted to the new controls. It is starting to feel better than having a keyboard and mouse on your lap.
The setup took all of 5 minutes. 3DTV Play worked right from the start. I had read a few people had some issues with it not registering. Mine did right away and worked first time around.
If you have a chance to see this projector in action, do it. It really is a step forward. The blacks are very deep, the contrast and crispness are a level above the AE4000U and it's plenty bright enough, even in 3D mode.
