my gaming with hd66 experience general setting
Bought HD66 2 weeks ago and been happy to see the 3d was fluid like my DLP wd-60737, but i found game dark and the 720p (playing with 110 inches screen at 4 feets distance) was not like i wanted it, I m playing on white wall in a very dark room.

After reading projector central HD66 review I modified projector brightness to 33 and contrast to 67, then modified nvidia control pannel/ajust desktop color setting... gamma must be 1.0/ all contrast at 0% then red 70%, green and blue at 80%, digital vibrance at 100%. the color can be ajusted in many other way, but I use this setting to play dark game like L4D 2, metro2033, batman.

With some convergence ajustement, L4D 2 look more real with those setting then I never saw before and I lower colors for game like SPEC OPs but i dont find game too dark anymore and the image quality is very nice to me, also if far objects still little blurred. Hope that can help few using this projector, for myself im amaze to have that quality for an 699$ projectors.

little reminder: HD66 need --acer h5360-- drivers to work properly in 3d and the RS-232 cable must be NOT PLUGGED, also no need to invert sync or remove dvi pins in my case. Nvidia driver 1.37 or higher.

You clearly abuse settings , you should get a better screen imho. Silver works wonders with dark games, and it reduces the white screen trademark color wash out. So the colors pop insanely in 2d, the thing actually needs glasses to function, lol. You can actually try decor spray & stuff, or matte silver wrapping paper. Glossy silver aluminium is not good, but try to find matte surface.
We also disabled BrilliantColor completely. The result is a higher-contrast picture with deeper color saturation that looks better than any of the factory default modes. With these adjustments, the HD66 delivered around 670 lumens of brightness, which is still brighter than the average video-optimized home theater projector. Low lamp drops this operating mode to 582 lumens.
wow sounds bs , basically you disable BC when yuo switch on 120hz.

I'm using an HD66 which I've had for about 3 months.
I really like it.....3d is very good. Im on a 70" screen.
I'd recommend you set AA on 32X as well as using the GeForce SSAA Tool set to 4X.

It's a real shame that Optoma and Nvidia cannot get they're act together.
Despite what they say, you still must use the Acer .ini hack.
The projector is so good for gaming but I doubt I'd go with it again due to the poor customer support.
You call Nvidia and they say it's an Optoma issue. You call Optoma and they say 'send it back for a firmware update'.
Yet folks that have sent it back wind up without they're projector for 2 weeks or so and then they STILL have to use the hack. LOL
