BenQ XL2720Z monitor 3D & audio via hdmi vs dvi-dl?
Hi folks,
I am considering upgrading from my Alienware optx aw2310 to the BenQ XL2720Z monitor but I would like to know whether the XL2720Z supports 3D & audio at 120hz (60hz each eye) via the hdmi cable or 3D at 120hz (60hz each eye) only without audio via the dvi-d cable?
If it only supports 3D at 120hz (60hz each eye) via the dvi-d cable is it possible to connect the dvi-d cable along with the hdmi cable at the same time in order to get just the audio via the hdmi cable?

EVGA GeForce GTX 1070 SuperClocked, Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R Motherboard Rev2, Intel Core i7 950, G.Skill Ripjaws F3-12800CL8T-6GBRM (3x2GB) DDR3, OS drive: OCZ Vertex 2 3.5" 120GB E Series SSD, gaming drive: Samsung 840 Series 250GB SSD, Windows 10 Professional 64bit.
It will definitely only work via the DVI-D cable, but I don't think that monitor has a speaker built in. Even if it did, you couldn't connect both cables at once and get audio.

Thanks for your reply Pirateguybrush :)
I just sent a query to BenQ for confirmation but I finally realised that the manual (pdf online) could/would have the info I desired.
It states:
Your monitor supports playing three-dimensional (3D) content transferred through DVI-D Dual Link or DP cable, depending on the purchased model ...
3D content can be transferred to XL2720Z through HDMI cable (version 1.3 or above) as well."
So if the XL2720Z supported 3D via hdmi I think it would specify it in the manual here seeing as it says the XL2420TX does.
I don't know if the DP1.2 supports 3D Vision with audio or not.
One review I read said the XL2720Z had no audio but others did/do as does the (.au) site

*not speakers but a headphone jack

3D Vision does not support 1080p/120hz 3D over HDMI. The manual is saying that you could connect something like a blu-ray player for 3D content, but I absolutely guarantee that you won't be able to get an optimal 3D experience over HDMI.

Thanks pirateguybrush - I actually made an error. The quote from the manual isn't
"3D content can be transferred to XL2720Z through HDMI cable (version 1.3 or above) as well."
It's
"3D content can be transferred to XL2420TX through HDMI cable (version 1.3 or above) as well."
