The plan was to create a general interest about the game here as most 3D gamers visit this forum and then ask people to go over to Eidos. If people here saw that the interest was big the bigger chance they would go over there to make a difference. If you just ask people to go vote on Eidos then half of them will see no point in that as they feel it wont make a difference.

I just voted no. Thief 1/2/3 are my top favourite games of all time. Thief 4 appears to be some kind of abomination. My guess is Assassin's Creed or Deus Ex: HR with a bow and sneaking. No thanks. There are plenty of fan missions for Thief 1/2/3 which can be played in perfect (or almost perfect) 3D. There is also "the dark mod" (openGL). I will probably have more fun playing the dark mod in 2D than Thief 4 in 3D. I vote no to playing Thief 4 (in either 2D or 3D). If you want to play a good Thief game in 3D .... Check out either Thief 1/2/3 and numerous fan missions. In addition, The dark mod is also a very good thief game. But currently only in 2D.

Every game that gets rebooted always has the die hards saying it will suck and for the majority they come around. Like Tomb raider, Deus Ex, Hitman, etc. Since the square enix buy out the turn out rate has been pretty good imo. Not to mention I did same thing where I wrote off Mass Effect 1 because my favorite game was Knights of the old republic and I felt at the time they were trying to appease the shooter market. I gave it a try and its a surprisingly in depth rpg with shooter elements. Now mass effect 1 is amongst my favorite games.
I understand you are a bit of a die hard but isnt it a bit premature?
The downfall of Thief started 9-10 years ago with Thief 3. Thief 3 added third person view. removed rope/vine arrows and instead added climbing gloves. due to consoles, map sizes were reduced and portals were added to connect maps together. They also added a city hub which is more suitable for RPG's. There are rumours that Thief 4 will have "sweet take-downs" similiar to Deus Ex: Hr. I dont play games in 3D only because it looks cool. I play games in 3D because I want to be inside the game. immersion into the game. Third person view is an immersion killer. I want to be the master thief. My eyes are his eyes. My ears are his ears. Third person is bad, but third person take down cutscenes (as in Deus Ex:Hr) are even worse and will kill my immersion. One element of Thief which is unlike most other games is .... the thief is weak. He is not a warrior. He is not a mage with magic abilities, and not superman with superhuman abilities. My expectation is that they will be giving the thief new powers (such as in dishonored or Deus Ex: HR). If they want to make a game which strays from classic Thief gameplay, they should give it a new name. Instead of asking, why be negative?, ask why be optimistic? Is there any reason at all to be optimistic? Final question. Why would anyone vote yes, without any knowledge at all about how Thief 4 looks in 3D? One more thing .... Thief 4 was finished (or almost finished) months ago, perhaps more than a year ago. It has been delayed. Why? My guess is, they delayed it until the new playstation and new xbox. This is both good and bad. It's good because the game will be less handicapped, less crippled. On the other hand, it's bad because it shows that Thief 4 is primarily a console game, with ported PC version.

I thought thief 4 was already out. They just called in Dishonored. Seriously, Dishonored kicks major ass and you could play the whole game thief style and never not be sneaky. If any of you guys haven't checked out Dishonored, you seriously should give it a try. It also has the Helix treatment.

@partol You make a valid argument. I can see why them trying to garner mass appeal has hurt the game for you.I also dislike third person especially as a forced mechanic. Deus ex really didn't need to do that I felt, crysis did it in a more satisfying way. If mirror's edge forced third person ever during game I'd probably have written it off. I also agree with your views on first person view point in 3D. I find there are "good games" that 3D improves but 3D is truly built around the first person view. Third person and 3D can make the environment immersive if done well like tomb raider. It can also make it feel cinematic with story such as Mass Effect. First person can make you feel you are the character which is true immersion. Then again perhaps we are different then the rest because Im excited about games like zeno clash 2 while no one else is. I also tend to remove crosshairs from every FPS that offers a gunsight as well so maybe I am a bit off. Perhaps you will get lucky and they add a force first person in camera settings and it hold true to the old games. Wish you luck, Ill have to wait on this games release before I judge myself since I never really played the old ones that much. I think you should look at Oculus Rift though, I am unconvinced at its success/how well it will do 3D. It will have severe limitations on amount of games that can be played but its selling experiences rather then a library. Too bad everyone whose interested expects the library.

There was no option for "f!ck yes, of course i do!" so i didn't vote. I have no problems with what i've heard so far (not much). I do wish they'd had gone with the original voice actor (and Garret) and i hope to god they don't make it combat oriented, but the level of sophistication seen in the trailers is very welcome. The concept art is great to. As long as they keep it believable for adults i think we'll be fine.

No. I would not play Thief 4 in 3D because I would not play Thief 4. If there will be any support for 3D, it will most likely begin with consoles. Thief 4 is primarily a console game (as was Thief 3). If there is no 3D support for consoles, then I doubt there will be any 3D support for PC.

I don't know, Tomb Raider didn't support 3D on consoles. It seems like most Square Enix games are supporting 3D, in one camp or both. I agree with the auto third person switch from first person, nothing say immersion breaking like that. I hated it in Chronicles of Riddick, that was such an immersive FPP game that didn't even have a TPP, yet every time it came to animating him doing something like climbing or using a wrench out came the TPP. It wasn't so bad in Doom 3, where they were more like out of body experiences during the cutscenes. There's two things I hate about most FPP games, you don't have a body and you don't cast a shadow. What's even worse are most of the games that have both first and third person perspectives, you'll have a shadow in TPP and not in FPP. It's so bad that I've even gotten spooked by my own shadow in FPP games that I do have a shadow. Ok make that three things, they pretty much never animate [s]your hands[/s] the first person view correctly. Who walks around with their hands in front of their face all the time? You should only see your hands when you're interacting with an in-game object, picking things up with your hands ... no floating objects, or when using a weapon, stabbing, or when running and climbing. A few games, like Dishonored, will let you put you hands 'away' but when they're out they look ridiculous. FPP games should be made as extremely detailed and well animated TPP games and then viewed from the players head. I guess the third point goes right back to the first point ... you don't have a body. There's only been a few games that I can remember that have done FPP really well, Breakdown on Xbox was one of them, puking in the FPP! Lol. Honestly, I haven't seen much of the upcoming Thief but I do know I want to play it and I do know I want to play it in 3D. Just from the trailer on their website, all those views of your hands from the first person, has me very hopeful they are paying attention to those little details that can make a FPP game in 3D even more immersive than they already are.

I fired up Deadly Shadows for just a few minutes before getting back to Dishonored, yeah Dishonored's no Thief but it is still a good game. For such an old game Deadly Shadows nails the FPP, it is just TPP viewed from the head/eyes and you do cast a shadow in both perspectives. No wonder I liked it so much. I wonder if that's why they ultimately added third person, to make it more realistic in the first person.
Remember to add your support on the Eidos forums. The thread looks a little sad right now. http://forums.eidosgames.com/showthread.php?p=1900683
Yeah it's looking extremely sad. Maybe I should have just said flame/troll away! :D
