I don't want to burst anybody's bubble, but "true" 3D software video players are not out yet.
PowerDVD 10 will issue an update "later on this year" they say, for 3D Bluray playback without being more specific. The only 3D that PowerDVD has today is the 2D/3D converter - which I find personally hideous - but other people like the effect. To each his own I guess.
"Product Availability
CyberLink is now ready to provide OEM partners with its Blu-ray 3D certified solution. For consumers, PowerDVD 10 Mark II will be available this summer as a free upgrade for those who already purchased PowerDVD 10 Ultra 3D."
Arcsoft also has demonstrated 3D Bluray playback on their TMT player using 3D vision - but again - not out yet.

I posted a message in the makemkv forum about this "problem", and got a tip from a user:
Hi!
In light of the fact that each of the .SSIF files is bigger than each of its M2TS counterparts, I think it's safe to presume that the .SSIF files are FULL 3D versions of the .M2TS files.
You might try the following (It MIGHT not require a different codec):
1) Use MakeMKV to do a full encrypted "Backup" of the disc to your hard drive
2) Change all of the ".SSIF" extensions to ".M2TS"
3)Use MakeMKV to do a DECRYPTED "Backup" of the now-modified ENCRYPTED hard drive BluRay "package"

Go guys get into it, we are all watching with baited breath I'm sure. :)
Can anyone try and play one of the .SSIF files with VLC please, just curious.
Back to being patient for some decent 3D content ...
Thanks for all the replies guys, i've tried them all individually to no avail! I think as sdumas mentioned above, we may need this codec before we can go any further... sorry guys!
TotalMedia Theatre from Arcsoft was able to playback
movie in 2d, as this program allows you to select folders,
and appears to recognize as a blu ray disc. however
full screen doesn't toggle the emmitter. maybe 3d playback
isn't in this version yet but at least it doesn't reject the file
structure !
EDIT: Apparently Tobias is going to take a look into this for us.
He mentioned he was going to post a clip of Monsters Vs. Aliens
from his retail 3d blu ray, so he should know how
the process works since it should technically be the same !!
Of course the other way to do this and bypass the MVC requirement is to connect a compatible Blu Ray player to a HDMI capture card as mentioned earlier. 2 issues I see with this though are HDCP protection and the caputre card being able to capture 1080p @ 120Hz, a lot of resources!
I've emailed both Cyberlink and arcsoft to see when they are planning on implementing the MVC codec in to PDVD and TMT. Will keep yous posted!

The HDMI 1.4 doesn't output 120Hz. All it does is output an over under format at 1920 X 2205 at 24fps (Hz). The 3D TV does the rest. So what we would want is a capture of that stream. After that we could trim the black bars and create an over under 3D mkv file which could be playable by Stereoscopic Player or Nvidia 3D player (they are the same). That's the only way to do this, otherwise we have to wait for the MVC codec. But which card can capture 1920 X 2205?

ravod, can you advise what players output using this format as this would solve a lot of issues for me? everyone i can find is in frame sequential ie
LG BX580
Panasonic DMP-BDT350
Samsung BD-C3900
Samsung BD-C6900
Sony BDP-S370
Sony BDP-S470
Sony BDP-S570
Sony BDP-S770
Sony PS3
Toshiba BDX3000
To make sure it gets the best out of your 3D discs, the player is powered by a UniPhier LSI chip which allows output of Full HD images in 1920x1080 resolutions in the frame-sequential method.

I was navigating through your website, and saw you developed a "3d codec" for watching 3d videos.
I have a 3d bluray (from the movie monsters vs. aliens), which has .ssif files that cannot be played with the actual codecs, so I want to know if these files could be played with your solution.
Look what they answered:
yes, we developed the 2D+Delta format, now key essential part of the MVC standard.
The SSIF file is binary file, the "StereoScopic Information File" it determines the encryption, the DRM and the type of 3D contained on the disk (separate streams for each eye, type of Delta, etc.)
the files you need to play are the .m2ts, the SSIF is the key to understand the information inside the .m2ts for protection purposes.
it is clarifying about what we were thinking, but isn't a solution yet. So, I sended a response:

PowerDVD 10 will issue an update "later on this year" they say, for 3D Bluray playback without being more specific. The only 3D that PowerDVD has today is the 2D/3D converter - which I find personally hideous - but other people like the effect. To each his own I guess.

movie in 2d, as this program allows you to select folders,
and appears to recognize as a blu ray disc. however
full screen doesn't toggle the emmitter. maybe 3d playback
isn't in this version yet but at least it doesn't reject the file
