3d for windows xp via iZ3D
ok, I gave a shot to iZ3D since this is the only 3d option for windows XP. That worked really well. I was using the anaglyphic 3d with assassin's creed 2..the results was amazing. Looks like the iZ3D is also compatible with many different glasses. Based on my experience, I will definitely go for 3d vision..I understand now why people have a hard time going back to regular gaming after experiencing 3d...I could not believe how much depth perception you were missing in regular gaming.

so yes, 3d gaming is the way to go :)

I agree. Once 3d there's no way back.
A little note though: Iz3d don't work with 3d-vision and vice versa. If you want to use 3d-vision then be sure to check the 3d-vision requirement list. The experience using 3d-vision with a compatible display is a quite dark experience but if you dim your room there's no problem. While using projectors the light problem could be significant though.
A great instep-to-3d display seems to be the zalman monitor. It's widely supported by numerous drivers (not new nvidiadrivers but they just recently dropped the support for the zalman). Otherwise it works with both iz3d, slightly older nvidia and the tridef drivers. Zalman also works with oldschooldrivers if you have an older computer (winxp,7900 card etc) which for now is the only way to play older games in 3d.
Compability is a quite important thing and there aren't much stuffs released for 3d that have a good compability today. 3d-vision is not an exception.
Iz3d is a decent 3d-display but on the caveats it ghosts quite a bit. It's nothing worse than you can get used with and it definitely looks better than 3d-vision and the 2233RZ from samsung. Get another display if going for 3d-vision!
Iz3d drivers seems to perform quite similar to the nvidiadrivers with new games but they have one serious flaw (shared with tridef i think): They lack compability with punkbuster and some other anticheat software. However the protection that left-4-dead, tf2 etc uses causes no problems. I don't know if this will be fixed in the future.
Tridef drivers have a quite small list on supported games but: The games that are supported seems to run better with less flaws than with 3d-vision or iz3d.

right now I am using the iZ3D drivers on my 32" LCD tv and it works really well. I agree that iZ3D is not perfecrt, but it is a great introduction to 3d for people without vista or windows 7. Plus, it is free for the anaglyphic 3d. I will soon switch to windows 7 and go for the 3d vision system from nvidia. One good thing, my setup seemed to be really enough to run the games without lag.

X2 7750 oc to 3.1 ghz, GTX 260 216, 4gigs PC 6400 XMS2, at a resolution of 1360*768. I just played Resident Evil 5, and it was really a great experience. The only thing, the aiming seems to be harder in 3d than without. FEAR 2 is pretty impressive in 3d, specifically when you use the sight, it looks like the gun is coming out of the screen :)

Batman also looked great.

You know that the iz3d driver has a "lasersight" as well? [ctrl]+[/] Sometimes the ingame crosshair can be turned off and this helps a lot.
