I went by micro center today to test out the stereo 3d setup, but someone had broken it. I did, however, notice that the demo screen was pretty small (it honestly looked like a 21 inch or so). Are there larger screens planned? By larger, I mean something in the 23-30 inch range.
Second, this is a completely subjective question, but is it, in your opinions, preferable to have a 3d setup, or to have a larger screen/ three screens? I know I'll probably get a bit of a slant in favor of 3D here, but honestly all of the 3D stuff I have tried in the past has been gimmicky and hasn't really worked right.

In my opinio the 3D mode in games is not so gimmick since most of the games weren't made with stereoscopic 3D in mind. The 3D just adds a sense of real depth in the game and some (just a little in most of the games) of pop-out effects, which are irrelevante for me. The most important is the depth, that helps you "enter in the game", it makes a lot of games more immersive.

if I had a choice between 3DV/smaller screen and "normal" larger screen i definitely would go for 3DV
in my opinion 3DV adds so much that i cant imagine what would be worth to substitute it. certainly just a larger screen wouldn't do..

Correct, there is no way to replace REAL 3D unless you can get both big and 3D but given the choice, i rather experience the game world as being IN there not just looking at a huge flat painting. /thumbup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Quick Question. 70 inch TV, how far away would you be sitting from the screen.
22inch monitor how far away would you be sitting from the screen.
basically relative screen size for proper use works out to the same, sorry I don't feel like showing the calculations at the moment.
The advantage with Big Screen TVs is that more than one people can view it comfortably at once.

That's the thing, I looked at some 30 inch screens in a store and it seemed like I would sit farther away to be comfortable with it, so I would effectively be using the same screen size. Sweet rationalization huh?

I sit about 5 feet back from my 60" when playing racing games and its amazing. I highly recommend a large screen if you can afford it. Definitely not a gimmick, as the depth perception added by the 3D glasses gives you a better sense of space, making it easier to judge your position on the track. That's what I get out of it anyway, maybe others can agree or disagree.

You guys are "forcing" me to get a 60" DLP aren't you? /whistling.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':whistling:' />
Look at your Budget, if you can afford it go for ir, if not I don't think you should bend over backwards for it. not to mention that tv primary focus would be a tv and not a gaming monitor anyway. remember the bulbs on DLPs need to be replaced from over use over time.

Oh yeah, very familiar with the Technology as I have had several DLP projectors and yeah, I was hoping to get those hard to find LED DLP one but alas, the local store does not have it....decisions decisions....

Definitely the 3d-route. For me its easily worth the money considering the added value.
In a few years time we will be seeing HeadMountedDisplays with good resolution and then you get full immersion, 3d stereoscopic and a large coverage FOV-wise. I was hoping for TDVision but the financial crisis dropped the promising project they had going.

Is there an accurate lamp life for the Mitsu?
I am used to projector companies quoting ball park figures but it seems Mitsu does not want to do that....
