Feature request - eye shift
I wanted to request that a feature be added to the 3D vision driver. IZ3D's drivers allow you to shift your eyes so that the left or right eye is positioned where the 2d mono eye usually sits - this means that you can aim correctly with iron sights in games using one eye. This would be a very nice feature to have for games where the laser sight has issues or reduces immersion. Since you normally sight a weapon with one eye, this winds up being a very natural way to line up a shot.

For an example of what this feature does, I'll try to do a simple illustration below. The LE is the left eye postion, RE is right eye, and 2D is where the eyes fall against the normal 2D view:

Symmetrical 3D Vision solution:
-----2D
LE-----RE

Proposed assymetrical option:
----------2D
LE-----RE

Since the Right (or Left if switched) eye lines up with the 2D plane, that view is what a non-3D user sees while playing the game. This would not only allow for easy iron sights aiming without 3D complications, it would allow a user to simply close one eye to overcome issues that could be caused by the 3D drivers. I think this simple feature would go a long way to improving the 3D vision experience, and should be pretty simple to implement. It could simply be activated via hotkey like Frustrum adjustment is on the current driver.

Many of us have been asking about this feature for quite a while. I remember a previous thread where this was discussed in even greater detail.
Still, Nvidia hasn't done it yet. I don't see how a feature like this would've been left out in the first place. It seems like such an obvious, simple solution
to an ongoing problem.

Maybe Nvidia should see if they can hire some of the guys that work on DDD or IZ3D drivers maybe?

Maybe NVIDIA can just buy IZ3D and TriDef. Seems to fit their evil history in stereo3d just fine /wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />

Competition is better. I wish amd gets their hd3d straightened out which will force nvidia to keep improving their solution.

Great idea, but Nvidia doesn't do user requests. Nvidia has ignored overwhelming requests for checkerboard and SBS modes being added to 3DTV Play, 3D modes 100 times more requested than crosshair alignment, and all requests have been ignored. In fact, I don't know of a single instance of Nvidia adding a feature or changing policy based on user requests.

I think there was a post from Andrew a month or two ago saying they considered doing it but decided it wasn't worth it.

Trying to play Dragon Age 2 without it is hopeless, really. I hope they reconsider.

Yes I am having the same problem with scope sight in COD 2, it is impossible to snipe correctly. I have seen the other threads and they say IZ3D drivers can do this, but given everyone is still complaining about it and looking for solutions, does it mean you can't use these drivers with Nvidia 3D vision?

I think so but you have to <gasp> pay for them. Likay will know for sure.

The iz3d-drivers are free to try out but after that you have to pay them. However they do not support the 3d-vision usb dongle.

Please re-read all of my posts within the past few months. I have communicated many times, we will add checkerboard support. However, our feature roadmaps take time to add features to it, we cant just enable things overnight.

In fact, here's a number of postings where I said we would add it

Please stop posting misleading information about myself and NVIDIA on these forums.

So it will not work with the Nvidia 3D kit?

Or can you run them at the same time as the Nividia drivers?

Both can be installed at the same time but iz3d-drivers needs to be disabled while running nvidiastereo or vice versa.

Thanks for the answer and sorry if I'm being thick, but does that mean IZ3D works with the Nvidia kit or not? If it does not support the USB dongle, this means you have to use other gear?
