Bioshock Infinite (with 3dsolutiongaming fix) has stopped working
1 / 2
Hi,
I'm sorry for asking because this issue has been surely debated before but, maybe because the lack of an advanced search engine here, I could not find anything related
just as the title says, I have a freshly installed BI on Steam, that works smoothly without the 3dsolutiongaming fix, and crashes with it upon launch
so please, I'm asking whether there is a way to run the game for a good 3DV experience, or if the only thing to is to leave the game and wait in time for another fix to appear,
thanks

Hi - the 3dsolutiongaing site seems to be down right now (!), so I can't check what files you have. To be clear though, there are TWO fixes for BI, neither are Solutiongamings fixes, we just host them :-) One is the "migoto" fix, the other is the "helix" fix. The Migoto fix is available here
http://3dmigoto.com/
, and the helix fix (which is better) is available here
https://s3.amazonaws.com/-HeliX-/BI.zip
The game looks amazing in 3D btw.

thanks again, guys, for directions: I didn't even know of a second file (although checking at Helix site)
with the Helix fix, the game works correctly and 3DV is very good :-)
Hey guys, I downloaded the zip and extracted it to the steamapp/BI/bin folder where the executable was but I don't think it is working. Can someone tell me where to extract the helix mod to for the steam version of BI? Your help is appreciated. Also SG, your link for 3dsolutiongaming is no good. Error 404 By the way, this would be for the dx 11 version or how do I dummy it down to a dx9 version.

Such a sweet way of asking..
By the way, this would be for the dx 11 version or how do I dummy it down to a dx9 version.
Its a dx10/dx11 game. Game is DX11 by default and patch is for DX11.
You need a dx11 capable video card.
Also SG, your link for 3dsolutiongaming is no good. Error 404 By the way,
Speaking of reading completely....
It's down, was stated earlier in thread. scroll up.
If you want the "alternate patch/3dmigoto" that they were hosting he said go here --> http://3dmigoto.com/
[Also said it didn't matter since worse patch]
You did not answer my question, please read it completely first, then help me if you can.
extracted it to the steamapp/BI/bin folder where the executable was
You said you installed where executable is located which is why I didn't correct you since that is right.
However after rereading your "inquiry" you either didn't look at your folders name or guessed.
Regardless install this file..
https://s3.amazonaws.com/-HeliX-/BI.zip
to
steam\steamapps\common\BioShock Infinite\Binaries\Win32\
All settings can be maxed except ambient occlusion must be set to Medium. Can tweak anything but ambient occlusion.
This folder..steamapp/BI/bin
doesn't exist nor does any of them. They certainly don't have .exe's in them.
------------
If you need further help please make sure to give accurate information.

VincentVV, we are not nVidia support employees, the people on this forum are putting in the hard work to fix these games (and help people use these fixes) for free. Please try and show a little more respect and thankfulness rather than "you didn't answer, re-read and try again"

Hi guys,
After reading a 12 pages thread on Chiri fundraising, just to find that it redirected to a 28 pages long thread called "ndigomod - DX11 wrapper by Chiri and elbarterino - Bioshock Infinite", which also mention a 27 pages long thread (Confused: is there a Helix DX11 wrapper?), I would really appreciate if anyone could sum up the situation regarding the dx11 wrapping / BI patching and Helix contribution.
I think it is something close to :
Chiri project called indigomod died prematurely and finally and got converted to mygoto
Helix has his DX11 wrapper in beta test (explaining why there is no mention on its webpage) but published unofficially a beta of his BI patch.
As I have not played BI yet, would you recommend using Helix work right now, or would it be preferable to wait longer to get enhanced compatibility/visual effects ?
Perhaps a pinned thread regarding DX9 and DX11 wrapping could help and avoid newcomers like me to read an infinite amount of posts.
Beforehand, thanks.

In short, no. Tridef doesn't work for most 3d vision users (see my guide below if you want to try).
https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/537226/tridef-on-nvidia-guide-play-ac3-bioshock-probably-more-/
Helixmod is almost perfect now from what people have been saying, and it's definitely the best way to play Bioshock Infinite.
In regards to all other posts, I was not looking to Nvidia for any support. I have installed the helix patch in the correct place, but it did not seem to make a difference. Ran with the same 3d that runs without it, in other words, I could see no difference. I figured that is where it went, and since it was three in the morning when I was playing around with the game I did not feel like looking up the exact path to make it accurate. None the less I did put it in the right place. The other patch goto or whatever it is called actually seemed to do something by rewriting a ton of the shader or rendering files. It worked okay. The game without any patch would run in 3d vision but the water was very strange looking and the reflections were out of place, also the lens glare and other light effects were a little freaky. I went to the Helix web site and could not even find a listing for BI, therefore I could not find any instructions to verify I was doing it correctly. Helix installs a dll file but it is alone under the .exe file so I don't think it does anything. Was not being rude, to those who think I was, you must have a chip on your shoulder. And Unlike some other people I was tired of reading through thousands of posts to find all the information I was seeking. When I put a signature in my name I always make sure that everything is current and up to date or I remove the signature. Plain and simple. The game runs fine on my machine even though I do not have a card that supports dx11 or whatever. I run in SLI and have not had to use a wrapper on any of the previous Bio's. I've only had to use a wrapper once since I have been with steam because I usually will not buy a game unless it supports 3d vision natively. And mostly I only play games that are first person shooters. With or without the Helix patch the games runs the same in 3d. Either way, I don't see this game as being above average in any way and will probably finish it quickly and move on. Thank you for the confirmation and help.
