Asus VG278HE - Anyone have this and using it with other monitors?
I currently run three Asus 24" monitors using Nvidia's Surround at 5760x1080 without bezel mgt. I decided to take the 3D plunge and purchased both the Nvidia 3D Vision 2 Kit and the Asus VG278HE 144Hz monitor. My intentions is to use the 27" as the main monitor, place the three 24" monitors above as additional displays. What I anticipate as potential use scenarios I have listed below - will it be possible to do all these as I envision with some cable changes and software settings for various needs? Work/Daily Use: Use the 27" as the main monitor for presentations online or other work, while using the three monitors above for reference and other workspace. 3D / 2 D Single Screen Gaming: Make the 27" the 3D and 2D single screen gaming monitor, use the other three for reference like ventrillo, game maps or whatever else I need to reference in other screens during gaming - or not at all and only send all processing to the main 27" in three-way SLI. Would I need to disconnect the 24" monitors if I wanted to only use the 27" in three-way SLI for 3D gaming? Widescreen gaming: At times I will want to go back and wide screen game on some titles I liked to run at 5760x1080 like BF3 & MOH campaign and MW3 Campaign. This would require disconnecting the 27" and setting it back up ;like I have it now with the 3x Asus 24" displays and set it to the 5760x1080 as it is now. I just want to make sure I am on the right track of thinking and the various things I will be able to do once I get the 27" integrated into the current solution. Has anyone tried Black Ops II in 3D yet on this monitor? How about Crysis 2, BF3, Far Cry, or MOH in 3D on this monitor?

Sadly, this monitor was announced about a month after I bought the VG278H lol. Bastages, there's always next upgrade cycle right? :) I love the size and improvements of the VG278H over my 1st-gen 1080p AW2310, so no regrets on my purchase. If the HE improves on the H, then it should be a great monitor, I think the only issue might be slightly more crosstalk in certain high contrast scenes where the pixels can't switch fast enough. We already see this a bit by reducing refresh on current 60Hz monitors from 60 to 50Hz reducing ghosting/crosstalk. As for your plans with the other monitors, you are correct. Nvidia's Fermi gen cards do not support more than 2 displays in SLI when not configured in 3D Vision Surround or Nvidia Surround. So you would have to swap back and forth accordingly. I'm not sure a KVM would work to swap as it might break the DL-DVI signaling requirements for 3D. You probably don't want to hear this, but Kepler gen cards largely address and fix this limitation, allowing you to drive up to 4 heterogenous displays and resolutions simultaneously. Works great, something I've been requesting since Fermi launched and one of the best by-product features of my Kepler upgrade.
