Hi all,
ive just registered on the forums so i could find an answer/fix to this problem.
I too have problems in sli with avatar in dx10 and 3d mode on.
I just got a couple of zotac gtx 470's in SLI and was expecting a lot from them!!!!
how disappointed was i when i tried avatar!!!
The fix for me is to turn SLI off to get better frame rate!!! Thats when i started feeling mugged off!
Just paid over £600 to get better fps only to find out that 1 card actually runs it better!!! COME ON nvidia, put yourselves together and come up with better drivers and support your own products/softwares better!
I do feel like 2 gtx470 are no better than 2 gtx 285 i previously had!
Only game i think is way better is bad company 2 with a massive improvement.
Apart from that, just cause 2 runs pretty much the same...bit slow around big towns, and dirt2 still problem with Anti Aliasing turned on (pitch black screen!!!)
Now ATI is coming up with 3d support, if nvidia doesnt improve their products, i might turn my back on the green team and say hello to the red one!!!

I wouldn't expect much from ATI and 3D to be honest...is not like they have such a great driver track record.

I noticed that when I was running FRAPS and playing the game in DX10 that the framerates were always way lower than the should be. One thing I noticed is if I 'alt tab' out of the game and then back in my frame rates would improve drastically. They weren't quite as fast as DX9 but it was a noticeable improvement. DX10 games sometimes like to go into windowed mode when you 'alt tab' out of them so I sometimes I have hit 'alt enter' a few times to get the game back to full screen. If anyone wants to play this in DX10 give this tip a shot. I ended up playing the entire game in DX10 this way.

Just to update, the latest R257 drivers and 3D Vision CD have improved performance in DX9 enough that I will probably just play through the game in DX9. I'm getting 80-100% GPU utilization with everything maxed out and 8xAA in-game and 50-60FPS running around the Hell's Gate courtyard. With previous drivers I was getting 40-50 and it was still a bit jerky.
DX10 is still showing extremely poor GPU utilization though, still ~50-55% although frame rates are at least ~30FPS on a pair of GTX 480s instead of ~20FPS as they were before. It looks as if its some kind of Vsync/3D driver sync issue where the tick rate is using either the wrong numerator or denominator with SLI and 3D enabled. So instead of say, 120/2 or 120/3 when it can't sustain capped 60FPS per eye, its sync'ing to 60/2, 60/3, 120/4, 120/6 maybe. Seems to be a driver limitation rather than a game engine limitation because DX9 works as it should, its just not as efficient as DX10 in this game.

Also other games are scaling only in DX9 in 3D Vision.
