can only get out of screen pop outs on nvidia test but not in games out of screen experience
Hi..please please please help me...i cannot get any out of screen experience with games but i do with the nvidia test...ive read alot on the forums and it seems that i have to play about with convergeance settings..ive done that however still no joy at all...the only time i get out of screen experience is when i do the nvidia test on the nvidia control panel...ive played about with settings for over 2 weeks now and still getting no joy...here is my pc spec if that helps...intel i7 920 2.66GHz....12GB ddr3 ram...Gainward Geforce GTX580...(installed latest beta driver from nvidia website)...BenQ XL2410T LED 24" 120Hz...Gigabyte G1 Killer Series G1 sniper motherboard...im using nvidia glasses and emitter 3D vision kit...im also not getting any out of screen pop ups on 3D movies either..tried it with powerdvd 10 ultra and powerdvd 11...im very new to this and dont have a clue..i did this for my kids to enjoy but failed miserably after spending alot of money...please can someone help me with the settings or whatever it is im doing wrong..also i have a bluray rewriter which is not reading 3D movies..do i need another bluray 3D player or should my existing player/writer be able to play via powerdvd?...any help will be hugely appreciated....thank you in advance...hope i get some advice on this..thanks once again

In games popout can be quite annoying to some people (I'm one of those), and thus prefer depth.
Yes, if you want more popout, you need to adjust convergence.
As for movies, they don't have much depth nor popup on 24" screen.
To improve a bit, sit a bit further from screen, but nothing helps as big screen.
And no, in movies you cannot adjust depth, only convergence (separation) a bit.
what games are you refering to? and did you enable the advanced controls within the 3d vision settings?

You MUST enable the advanced convergence settings. While in game HOLD DOWN your convergence shortcut to start seeing changes. Sometimes a game will require you to hold it down for 20 seconds or more before you even start seeing a change. You need to experiment more. I love a little pop out in my games too and 95% of games I have I can get a great effect. Don't overdo it though, you want it to be subtle.

Or you can hold down the green light on your emitter and turn the dial on the back.
Note that your depth has to be reasonable to get any popout so first I think you should just turn the dial without holding down the green light and push the depth up. Then deal with the convergence.

Thank you for all your responses people:)....i have set advance configuration so that im able to adjust convergeance in game...ill be honest ive not yet tried holding it for more than about 10-20 seconds with zero results...when i play with convergeance during nvidia test with the logo all it seems to do is go right n left....but nothing really starts coming out more....everywhere i read it seems to have the same advice...ive followed that advice with zero results...i am now going to try holding it down for atleast a minute during gameplay...to see if it makes any difference..ive installed batman (the 1 thats recommended for 3d)...crysis 2...nfs shift...dirt3...battlefield bad company 2...portal 2...far cry 2..hawx 2....all the games that nvidia recommend...this is setting me back alot of money with zero results..pls continue helping me as i really appreciate every response...ill let you know what happens when i hold the convergeance key down for much longer..as i said ill hold it for atleast a minute to see if theres any difference...thanks once again in advance:)

just tried holding down the convergeance key...both up and down...i do get movements...but only that the screen picture moves to the left or to the right..but no pop outs...also reduced the level of depth to see if that makes any difference...but no joy whatsoever

But it's just moving to the right or left? It sounds like you are only looking through one eye or something.
OK, get Portal 2 out. Make sure you've got the latest drivers from www.geforce.com or www.nvidia.com. (When you do an install, pick custom and make sure all the 3D drivers are included.) Now fire the game up and load a save where you have a portal gun. Changing the convergence should result in the gun moving in or out of the screen. If you are just seeing it move left and right then you've got a problem. Try closing one eye and moving the scale up. Now close the other eye and move the scale up again. The gun should move in opposite directions for each eye.
If that is what is happening then the 3D is working just fine. Did you do the medical test when setting up the system? Check with your kids to see if they are seeing the changes.

i have a bluray rewriter which is not reading 3D movies..do i need another bluray 3D player or should my existing player/writer be able to play via powerdvd?[/quote]
Stand alone Blu Ray players must be specifically 3D. Computer Blu Ray drives that play 2D will play Blu Ray 3D discs as well.

Note that your depth has to be reasonable to get any popout so first I think you should just turn the dial without holding down the green light and push the depth up. Then deal with the convergence.
