DISCONTINUED - NVIDIA GeForce 3D Vision Stereoscopic 3D Shutter Glasses Kit USB

A new model does sound like the best answer but to say discontinued, why not say "being replaced with a new model". Also with N being the attention whores they are, this news would be plastered everywhere, be pulling tolet paper off the roll and you would see advertisements printed on the squares for the new and improved model. Perhaps a change is coming that does not require 3d glasses only software, or build in chips that allow for 3d rendering by the screen. I still havent found anything on the web to suggest this........................

Very strange. I think the reseller got some things around their backfoots. There haven't been any signs from nvidia themselves of putting it down.

lol, wouldnt hold my breath waiting for a response from nvidia regarding them killing 3d vision, more info needed here.
Probably new models. I don't believe for a second that they'll stop supporting 3d vision users. Current drivers still support old graphics cards. They don't just dump driver updates for previous gen cards when the new ones were released. Same with 3d Vision. I'm sure they're improving the glasses, maybe the emitter, different shapes, who knows. But, I'm not worried at all about still enjoying my 3d vision kit, as I'm confident they'll continue to release new drivers and profiles as necessary. Hell, if they got some new glasses comin out, I'm pretty sure I'll get me a pair. Upgrades are good. /thumbup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

just a shortage im sure, one of the local shops here was waiting weeks for their pair to come in. They said it was on back ordered because they are very popular.

a new version would be awesome, but i want more comfortable frames than extended battery life. as it is, the current models battery lasts me a week or more of pretty solid gaming, like 6-8 hrs a day. a more even tint to the glasses (darker around edges) and better, truly adjustable frames would be awesome... kinda why i've held off on buyin a 2nd and 3rd pair so far.

Thank you for using a little common sense to get this ridiculous thread going in a different, and certainly more accurate, direction.
If ANY of the rest of you are PC enthusiasts you should know the drill.. PC Parts and electronics in general are always redesigned, reworked and almost always made cheaper, faster and easier to use.
Take nvidia themselves as the example, their GPUs are continuously being updated and what was once the best of the best is now second fiddle to the newer product that replaces the old in an ever accelerating cycle that drives research and engineering to continuously out do themselves.
The time frame is almost always 6mos or so, and that trend will continue as long as the masses show a "need/want" for better, faster, and with more features than ever before.
So, not only should this be common sense, it's expected. Prior to Fermis launch, people were grasping at the air (like myself at the shop) looking for ANY enthusiast level GT200 cards that can fill the gap between discontinuation and a new product launch.
The 3D Vision side of things is here to stay, it's in the theaters, it's in the Home Theater, it's in the Nintendo DS for cryin out loud! 3D tech has been around for many years, going back to before half of you were even born. The problem then was that the tech was expensive, buggy and featured little to no support with game titles. Now that it's more affordable people that have almost no experience can set this up with great results.
Also, many titles upcoming are slated as 3D ready, and now that it's becoming more mainstream, Nvidia can now reassure itself that 3d tech is not only here to stay, but is also very lucrative if done right.
So, make way for the new model that will continue the trend of 3D immersion with some new tweaks that will keep customers wantng more.

Will you all stop pestering Andrew, he is not obligated to answer your concern about something that is part of the evolution of pc parts.
We already have plenty of confirmation that the product is discontinued, they always try to sell off current stock before a new product launch because who would choose to buy the older model when the new model is in your face and of course better performing ?
Besides, NV has a strict policy about commenting on unreleased products and if not obeyed can certainly warrant losing your employment and possibly being fined/arrested, and maybe worse than that showing your arch rival your cards can and will ruin your advantage in the market.
The promise to keep your mouth shut is a contract of sorts, the "non disclosure agreement," as it's called, is going to apply on almost ANY upcoming product for a very specific time frame and encompasses the corporate big wigs right down to the retailer in a small business such as my own.

You meant to say that 3D tech is in all of those gadgets. 3D Vision, which is a proprietary and sometimes bafflingly anti-industry standard product, is only a very small part of that market.
And I'll take confirmation by Nvidia over rampant speculation any day of the week.

The older model was discontinued when we released the newer 3D Vision kit that comes in at a lower price point and also offers a longer battery charge. THe new kits also come in a different box. I don't have a picture to show the difference between the prior kit and the new one but don't worry. 3D Vision is doing quite well.

Where the hell is Andrew? He should have responded by now. Unless he got fired.

You meant to say that 3D tech is in all of those gadgets. 3D Vision, which is a proprietary and sometimes bafflingly anti-industry standard product, is only a very small part of that market.
And I'll take confirmation by Nvidia over rampant speculation any day of the week.
