Optoma GT 1080 120Hz via HDMI 2.0 ?
Well looking at Optoma's current line up, they have 2 1920x1080P projectors with Display Port inputs, the DH1017 and the WU515. So maybe 1080P 120Hz might be possible with one of them.
DH1017 looks to be affordable. It is a business Projector but should work. No we just need someone to buy it, mod it and test it. :D

Why is it called HDR , isn't it basicly just better contrast than generally ?
Have you got a link to the price of the chip? I've not read about that yet.
My memory did not serve me well, the price when bought in bulk was $2700. I though it it sounded quite high. Sony have monopolised the market for too long. It's about time we got some competition. Metalohlpic HDR is part of the new UHD 4K bluray standard and is going to mean higher contrast colours and an improved colour range.l, it uses BT2020 colour space rather than rec709 do you'll get a wider gamut and a lot higher brightness and contrast levels. They reckon it's more impressive than the upgrade to 4K. Problem is you have to have a bluray player (or graphics card) TV/projector and Amp/AVR to support HDR for it to work. It's going to be the next big marketing push to get people to upgrade their 4K TV's. I want a 4K projector with HDR, HDCP 2.2 compliant and proper HDMI 2.0 (and preferably the new display port like the Panasonic 4K TV's) to be future proofed for at least a while. 4K projectors are going tonget a lot cheaper very soon! 4K bluray players and discs are out now. It's all coming together nicely. There should be a few projectors out in time for Christmas hopefully.

What I have read in forums - is HDR for projectors is way less impressive than for LCDs. Problem is brightness - projectors are not simply bright enough.

It all sounds promising, but one should never forget the fact there is always better things around the corner and "future proof" is more of an joke line if we are talkign about tech and electronics. Shame they don't really make things future proof as there is always need for money in the industry. The middle range consumers who buy the better entry level machines don't usually update all the chain at once as if you have 700€ and up per device, its a hefty load to spend on once. As all devices could just use better input chips and then firmware updated to current standards, but thats not how you make money. For example my geobox was not first 1080p@120hz framepack input compatible for 3d vision, but hey manufacturer made a firmware after some mails. And afterwards i got a firmware that supports 1080p Upto 200Hz from HDMI input. So it's just what the manufacturer wants to do.
What I have read in forums - is HDR for projectors is way less impressive than for LCDs. It's not good when people are reviewing $15,000 projectors saying they need to be brighter. You can make up for loss of brightness through various methods though. A high gain screen will help but the best method is using perceived contrast methods. I have my walls and ceiling painted in an anthracite colour. It made a huge difference. Painting the ceiling alone felt like I had upgraded my projector, it was like night and day. Yes, the room looks like batmans cave but for gaming, watching films and VR it's a perfect room! Metaloholic, I agree you can never be future proof indefinitely, but making sure your 4K projector is at least future proofed enough to play 4K blurays properly is harder than it should be at the moment! Didn't Conan say he had a 4K song projector? I wonder what experience he's had using 3D vision with it.
