Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood 3D Looks amazing but shadows make it unplayable
1 / 2
So i tried Call of Juarez 2. Looks fantastic in 3d, but the game renders two totally different shadows for each eye which make it kinda unplayable. The game doesn't let you disable the shadows so that's a bummer. Maybe someone knows if some config file can be edited to disable shadows?

Same problem here, the shadows are all screwy and it's really hard on the eyes.
Convergence doesn't work either.
Come on Nvidia, you should be testing these things with developers !!

Overlord II has a simialr problem that it only renders ahdows for one eye, which is a shame, but I'd rather thave 3D and no shadows than the other way around!!
Hopefully there will be a patch and/or profiles, etc. to help things along.

Shadow rendering at wrong depth is a problem in almost every game, please Nvidia, if you aren´t able to fix it in the drivers, work together with the developers to get the shadows right.
Or even better tell them how to implement native stereo3d. That´s what you told before release of the 3d Vision. I wonder which game had realy been optimized for stereo3d till then.

That is strange. When i first launched Call of Juarez i have unplayable image (no shadows for one eye). But after i reinstall the drivers it look nice.
Beat half a game and i think the 3d vision is very good in it. Maybe some flaws with shadow accuracy. but it is definitely NOT hurting the eyes and unnoticeable during action

You can rename 'video.scr' to 'video.txt'. Now you can edit the in-game effects. Haven't tried it yet, but could be usefull. When your done don't forget to rename file again.
the file is located in My Documents\Call of Juarez - Bound in Blood\Out\Settings

I tried to edit this file but there seems to be no way to turn off the disturbing shadows completely. You can only switch between low and high shadow qualitiy that doesn't make much difference.
To solve the problems I used the following settings: reduced depth to minimum and increased konvergence until the shadows in the area I usually looked at (middle of the range of fire) were acceptable. Played trough the game with these settings and enjoyed it. Besides from that there are many levels or scenes without shadows and then the 3D effect is very good. So don't get frightened off by the first level!

teh same sh1t in Crysis, need to turn shadows and postprocessing off to have no artifacts. with this settings off no any stereo can make this game acceptable for playing - it's looks ugly. so no stereoscopic for Crysis. unfortunately =(

I've played a bit with different settings and of course with convergence in CoJ 2 and was able to get quite nice results. Here is a short guide that may help you actually enjoy the game with 3D Vision with good pop-out an depth effects: Configuring Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood for best results with 3D Vision

Yeah LOL i cannot believe Crysis isn't even offically supported.. it could possibly be one of the best
looking games, and more of a reason than anything to get a 2nd or 3rd video card for SLI & 3D..

We are working with developers, it just takes time :)
We also dont have a profile for this game checked into drivers so you are running the game without any of our settings.
