For the life of me I cannot get it to work right with RE2. I create the ini file. Modify the exe and follow the steps.
It creates the profile and the game loads with the "Powered by 3DVision CM Unleashed - made by Helifax." I presss CTRL+Shift+Plus and get the plugged sound, but the game renders in 2d. I have tried both 90 and 110% scaling in game.
I can get CM to work by using a CM profile I found in the RE2 thread, but for some reason CMU is staying 2d. However I can get CMU to load using the CM profile I found in the RE2 thread, but I can't seem to get convergence values to do anything.

Actually there si a profile which does some sort of HUD recognition. helifax posted it few years back.
I remember it wokrd in Battlefiled 1 but it was using more resources

I finally got CMU to load in 3d with RE2. Had to change StereoTexture to 0x00000023 because the default of 0x00000001 would make the game stay 2d.
However I now have another issue. No matter what settings I use the depth is horrible. Basically everything in the foreground and background are the same stereo distance apart. For example if I measure the distance between Leon's ears (left vs right image) it is the same distance between lamps in the distance. Basically it is acting as if there is zero convergence and the separation values (depth) just move the left/right eye images an equal distance apart for all objects. So it looks nothing like Helifax's images in the first post.
What might be causing this?

The wrong stereo texture will cause that, try others.

@helifax - That is odd as your profile you showed is looks to be the same one included in CMU, but for me on RE2 it renders 2d and not 3d. Changing to 0x00000023 from your 0x00000001 renders in 3d but with pretty much zero depth.

I did as you suggested and still no depth. I can easily changes the left/right separation but still no variance in that distance between foreground and background objects. Changing the convergence settings between .2 and 1.0 only makes the separation bigger.
Now maybe I am understanding things wrong but for 3d depth to work you must first have left/right eye separation but objects closer to the camera will have less separation and objects farther will have more separation. Convergence would then alter the amount of separation difference between the close and far objects while "depth" would just control the amount of left/right separation.

If the images are parallel to infinity, you will never get a stereoscopic experience
You need convergence between the two images

That's what I thought. I guess something in my setup or system is messing with the stereo rendering of this game. As I said earlier other CM games show proper depth but not RE2.

As I said, it's a stereo texture issue.
I've ran into that same problem many times when trying to come up with a profile to make a tweak guide for games without a fix.
Others, like TsaebehT have posted finding the same thing.

I will experiment then.
Do different systems react differently and need a different stereo texture than others because the ones helifax used on his for this game give me much different results?

It depends on the game and the engine it is using.
As well ass the API and graphics pipeline.
There is no difference between systems. If you have tried helifax's suggestions. It must be the game itself.
It is using either dx10 or dx11 correct?
CM does not work with dx9

I did as you suggested and still no depth. I can easily changes the left/right separation but still no variance in that distance between foreground and background objects. Changing the convergence settings between .2 and 1.0 only makes the separation bigger.
Now maybe I am understanding things wrong but for 3d depth to work you must first have left/right eye separation but objects closer to the camera will have less separation and objects farther will have more separation. Convergence would then alter the amount of separation difference between the close and far objects while "depth" would just control the amount of left/right separation.

As well ass the API and graphics pipeline.
There is no difference between systems. If you have tried helifax's suggestions. It must be the game itself.
It is using either dx10 or dx11 correct?
CM does not work with dx9
