Cannot Enable Stereoscopic 3D Settings are missing
Here's my setup:
Windows Vista SP1 x64
Core 2 Duo E6850 @3.0Ghz
2GB Ram
Nvidia GTX 470
Driver versions tried: 266.58, 267.24, 270.61
Always performed clean driver install
Connected to a 3D projector:
JVC DLA-X3
On all driver versions I am unable to enable the stereoscopic 3D settings because the settings do not show up on the NVIDIA control panel. The only way I had the settings show up was when I had the 14 day trial of 3DTV play installed. Now that my trial is expired, I no longer see the settings. I also tried the trick of hooking up an LCD monitor at the same time and switching my primary display back and forth. That didn't work.
I only care about watching 3D Blu-Rays and that was working perfectly for me in both Arcsoft TMT5 and PowerDVD10 during the 3DTV Play trial. Do I need the 3DTV Play software installed for 3D movies to work? I was under the impression that was only for converting 2D games to 3D.
I also remember installing an update for 3DTV play (NVIDIA_3DTV_Play_Support_Update_1.0.0.19) that added my projector to the list of 3D capable devices.
Also, the 3D Vision driver is only for the NVIDIA Emitter and glasses correct? I shouldn't need to install it?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Attached are relevant screenshots.

Correct. My projector has its own emitter and glasses.

Hi
Your control panel screenshot does not say it was a JVC DLA-X3. Can you do me a favor and do an EDID dump and send it to our suppor team referencing this forum thread?

I will do that this evening. Since I'll be filling out this support request for 3DTV Play, is it correct for me to assume that I do need 3DTV Play in order to watch Blu-Ray 3D?

Hi
I have had 2 3dtv's that use there own glasses, i take it thats the same with your pj and it's glasses.
Both setups worked with 3d bluray without 3dtvplay.
I do have the option in tmt5 and powerdvd11 to use nvidia vision/play for the 3d output. I allso have options for other 3d outputs, try some of these as i'm pretty sure you do not need 3dvsision/play for 3d mode but thats just a guess.
Edit
[quote]For 3D content, the DLA-X3 includes two HDMI 1.4a ports and supports side-by-side (broadcast), frame series (Blu-ray), and above-below 3D transmissions. An external 3D Signal Emitter (PK-EM1, sold separately) syncs the projected image with JVC’s Active Shutter 3D Glasses (PK-AG1, sold separately). The external 3D signal emitter ensures solid signal transmission to the 3D glasses for a superior 3D experience, no matter what type of screen is used or how the home theater has been configured.

My powerdvd11 has hdmi 1.4 options, cant test though as have no 3d bluray at mo so by looksofit it should support your pj wihtout 3dtvplay allthough you will want 3dtvplay for gaming aswell /wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />

That's correct. For Blu-ray 3D playback, you don't need 3DTV Play software, you just need Arcsoft or PowerDVD.
Well I tried again going through all the recent drivers. I also can add 270.51 to the list I've tried. Then I tried playing back several 3D Blu-rays in both Arcsoft and PowerDVD. In each player I tried all the choices for screen type to no avail. PowerDVD gave me an error about "not able to enable 3d" or something similar. Arcsoft gave no errors and played in 2D.
You say that you don't need 3DTV Play for 3D Bluray, but without 3DTV Play are the stereoscopic settings supposed to show up in the nvidia control panel? As I stated before, the only time the options were available to me was when my trial period was active. Seems the drivers are blocking enabling any kind of 3d content without 3DTV Play. I also went poking around in the registry and even merged a .reg file in the C:\Program File\Nvidia directory. It had a bunch of keys related to stereoscopic settings. Even after merging that file and rebooting they still didn't show up.
I went ahead and purchased 3DTV Play and as soon as I entered my serial number, the settings appeared and 3D Bluray worked fine. I really didn't want to spend $40, but at least I can enjoy my 3D content /glare.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':glare:' />
