Cyberlink PowerDVD 11 Ultra blue screen with 295.73
I have a 64 bit Windows 7 Dell laptop with an Intel I7 processor, a GT550M vidio card and 3D Vision. The laptop has 6g of main memory and the video card has 1gb of memeory. It is attached to a 3D TV via a 1.4 HDMI cable. All 3D media is diplayed on the TV from the laptop via Cyberlink PowerDVD 11 Ultra. Everything has been working flawlessly for over a year. During the year I have updated Nvidia drivers several times without issues. After installing 295.73, PowerDVD blue screens when attempting to switch from 2D to 3D. Cyberlink tells me that they are not aware of any issues assoicated with the new driver. PowerDVD has the latest updates. Again, no problems at all prior to updating the Nvidia driver. Has anyone encountered a problem with PowerDVD running with 295.73? I used a restore point to revert back to 285.79 which runs just fine. Thanks for any input you can offer.

I have a similar problem: after installing this 295.73 driver 3D stopped workin on both Powerdvd 11 and Arcsoft Totalmedia theatre...I´ve been thinking about reverting back to the last nvidia driver. Did you already tried it?

Cheers,
Andre

Yes. I upgraded the driver to 295.73 from 285.79. After the problem with 295.73, I went back to 285.79 and everything worked again. I'm leaving 285.79 installed until something is resolved with the latest driver.

I have been working with Cyberlink and they have requested a lot of information about my computer. They have been very responsive. I've also been working with Nvidia. They helped me do a clean install of 295.73, but PowerDVD still crashed. Nvidia had a 3D test routine as well as a 3D demo that played without any issue under 295.73. Only PowerDVD had a problem. I'll keep you posted if I hear any more from either Cyberlink or Nvidia. I feel that both companies are trying to resolve this. In the mean time, I'm okay because everything is working with the 285.79 driver.

Ok, thanks M8, please do keep me posted!
I only installed this last driver because maybe it could give me better performance in the games I am playing now: Battlefield 3, Batman Arkham City, The Witcher 2. Do you play games in 3D as well? With a 88 inch screen and a 720p Projector its freaking great!

Cheers,

Damn, just when I thought this latest driver works well. I've also installed it because of Skyrim and Batman. Is there ever going to be a solid driver....
It's good that they are trying to resolve it, since I have no intention of reverting and the performance increase in Batman is quite noticeable. I'm interested if they are testing (nvidia) with Pdvd 11 or 12.

Yesterday Nvidia launched a new driver, that was quick, I guess they had too many problems with the last one. Did anyone tried yet? The 3D in movies works ok again or what?

I just tried 295.73 and the new 296.10 and the 3D in movies still dosent work, I´m back to my trusty 285.62. In games the 3D Vision warning says the games are not 3D Vision Recognized but everything works ok. I dont understand, Nvidia launched 2 drivers already (285.62 is from 10-2011) and 3D Vision still has problems with movies.
I´m I the only one with this problems, guys?

Cheers,
André

This happens to me too, all the way up to 301.24. Happens with PowerDVD, WinDVD and TotalMedia Theater.

Symptoms are:

If the screen wasn't in a 3D-mode resolution, the player will attempt to change to 3D-mode and succeed, but the player would be stuck.
If the screen was in 3D-mode before the player was launched, a bluescreen would appear with SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION when 3D content is about to be played.

100% reproducible. 3D vision in games isn't affected.

GTX560Ti, used original Blu-Ray 3D discs. On PowerDVD I tried using "nVIDIA 3D vision-enabled display" and "1080p 24 HDMI 1.4", no difference.

This effectively means that nVIDIA PCs can't play 3D Blu-Ray movies.

I am using PowerDVD 12 with Nvidia 3D Vision with driver version 301.24 and the Blu-Ray 3D works perfectly, even forcing Blu-Ray 2D into 3D works perfectly through DVI 1080P @60Hz w/3D.

I also leave my display in "Always" 3D mode (because I play/watch everything I can in 3D). The only thing I can think of is that PowerDVD 11 has issues with Nvidia 3D vision which was fixed in PowerDVD 12.

TL:DR Nvidia PCs can play Blu-Ray 3Ds movies.

I also upgraded to from Powerdvd 11 to 12 and everything works ok now with the lastest official 296.10 driver :)
I dont use the beta one because framerate in BF3 dropped to 20 FPS so I still use the official one, no problems there.
Which version of Powerdvd are u using?

Cheers

I tried both 11 and 12; I also tried WinDVD and TotalMedia Theater. The movie plays just fine in 2D mode, but whenever I enable 3D, it sets the 3D resolution on the TV then becomes stuck. As I mentioned earlier, if I put the TV in a 3D resolution before launching the player, clicking 3D in the player would cause a bluescreen.

Thanks for trying to help, it is much appreciated.
