With the helmet hud and in your face objects, it would be interesting if this translated into a decent experience on a monitor with convergence cranked up.
Is there hope for a fix? The game promises to be stunning in 3D But now it completely broken.
Give us some more details, and attach screen shots.
I assume this is DX11, so if you can run 3Dmigoto against it and see the green hunting text, that goes a long ways to telling us how fixable it is.
It's weird that it works in VR, but no in 3D, must be using different shaders or stepping up the graphics for 2D.
UE4 - DX11.
Its all types of DRM. Denuvo + you need oculus app to handshake that you have a rift.
I been following it just to see how they are going to deal with first party titles. They claim they aren't but seriously... they are on UE4 not some propiertary and they chose to use Oculus SDK over SteamVR which supports both.
Its probably standard timed release. I kind of refuse to believe in the coincidence of all these layers of drm for first time on an indie title.
Basically they are trying to prevent it from rendering on Vive it seems. I am willing to bet that all Rift titles on steam are going to require a handshake + denuvo if exclusive.
-------------
It wouldn't surprise me if it has if_statements that if you have VR connected with custom code to dip in graphics at least a bit.

Sounds like is de-activating the stereo shaders/engine if some conditions are not met... Really awkward move but I was expecting this more or less. Especially in the beginning phase were each vendor will try to lock as many games to their Hardware...

Would have been very small minded if they did brake stereo intentionaly. Anyway in case you've missed, Threeonezero studio making Adr1ft game previously oculus exclusive, announced on steam:

Vive doesn't actually officially launch until the 5th. So it's not that big of a deal anyways. It's pretty terrible if they do have a hook that disables 3D if not in VR though.
It is disappointing that Facebook seems to be angaged in these legal tactics, but oh well. I guess they feel they can't win an open contest. Doubt this is going to help their cause. These type of tactics never seem to get rewarded in the PC space. Let's hope they don't start now.
For those unaware: They put legalese into their SDK to prevent Oculus from being supported in OpenVR. And then they're also saying they can't incorporate Vive support into Oculus Store games until Valve changes course (Valve has OpenVR... which doesn't require Steam at all and is the equivalent of the Oculus SDK. So they already have available what they claim to want. Of course, this being the internet, we have to pretend its both sides fault. Hopefully Facebook gets their butt kicked because their tactics on this suck).

No, I don't think its intentionally breaking stereo. That's just happenstance. They are preventing the possibility of getting rift games to work on other devices. Which means less possibility of the games working in stereo.
As paul mentioned they are preventing OpenVR.
There was actually an app at least as of a few months ago to get Rift games to render in standard sbs.

The game is on sale for 50% so I decided to give it a try. As You mentioned there is only support for VR but not for 3DVision. It is a UR4 game so there are too many issues to play it in real 3D. You can use CM when You add it to the profile for Assassisn Creed Unity (which helps for all UR4 games to get a working CM). The game is playable in S3D then but suffers from CM issues (low depth, halos). The HUD and smaller particles are as usual a 2D layer placed on the objects rendered in 3D but it doesn't bother me too much and is better than too many halo issues caused by this elements. After 90 mins of game play I couldn't observe any effects that broke CM (like outlines causing the game switch to 2D etc.).
The same conclusion as always for CM: better than 2D, much worse than real 3D. I only recommend to buy the game if You REALLY are interested in the game itself and not in a good S3D experience.

Hello all
My English is not very good. I did not quite understand the other message. Maybe the answer has already been given.
But the game is in the last bundle https://www.humblebundle.com/unreal-engine-bundle for 4 dollar.
It is obvious that this game must be cool in 3d, it is the mess of playing in 2d.
Do you think a fix is possible?
It's too hard for me to make a fix myself. Is there a motivated shadershaker to make a fix in the near future?
thanks ;-)

I got it for my Vive. It definitely has some moments where you think flying around in space would be cool. Controls are on the other hand screwed for VR, the Vive, because it is a normal screen port where you actually can t really move your head. I had to stop after 20 minutes because I started feeling a bit unconfortable. In 3D it would have been even better I think (better resolution, better controls).

Sad, no one is interested in this game? Or can the game be impossible to fix? All in this game has the area to be made for the 3d. Full of floating objects, particle effects everywhere. It is possible in fact, that the 3d is better for this game than the RV.
I cross my finger to have a fix one day :-).
