Removing the "Hide 3D effects when game starts" in 304.48 has screwed my experience!
Please put this option back! Now every game I start has the 3D effect turned on!! And I have to shut it off manually - I shouldn't be forced to do that Nvidia.

"Select when the display is in 3D mode" does nothing for me. Even if I launch a game windowed, it'll be 3D interlaced. I have the Acer HR274H (passive) 3D monitor (best 3d monitor out there!) and I don't think you've accounted for this setup (which will take over 3D soon enough).

To do:

1) Put the option back in or get something else working that can prevent games/emulators from always booting in 3D. "Save in-game settings" doesn't accomplish this.
2) Investigate why the "Select when the display..." option does nothing (for passive 3D sets).

Attached screenshot from the 201 series drivers.

I have to agree. Too many games have issues to always have it on, or just aren't good with 3D. I would rather turn it on when I want to play a game in 3D, than turn it off all other times.

Thanks for the reply. This has been driving me crazy - reverted back to the 201 set.

Please Nvidia, I know you're trying to clean up/streamline the 3D options, but this one is absolutely neccessary....unless you have an alternative to this setting. Please reconsider and put back in. Thanks!

Some games (e.g. Mad Riders) may crash when You start it with 3D enabled.
Also 3D activates with the driver when I start realplayer or Windows Movie Maker /blink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

My original display name is 3d4dd - for some reason Nvidia changed it..?!

Legend80? You really bothered to complain about that? It only takes a single keystroke, you know. You could have turned off 3D several hundred times with all the keystrokes you put into making that post!

This, however, is very true. Sword of the Stars 2 gets completely messed up when you start it in 3D mode because it kicks in a profile made for a different game. Even after toggling 3D off, the game is completely messed up!

We don't need this option very often but, when we do, we NEED the option.

Such a dumb statement for so many reasons. There's zero logic in your comparison.....let's see two and a half minutes one time to make a post or annoyed by having to remember, locate and press the hotkey to turn off 3D for an indefinete amount of years almost everytime i start a 3D game. There's no comparison. I have 400+ pc/console emulated games on my pc and play several every day and I would resent having to be forced to do this everytime I want to play one in 2D.

Aside from the sheer trouble, the principle of it is worse - this option was already there and removed for no valid reason. I do not like to see regressions with the 3D experience, Nvidia needs to make all the right decisions to keep this going. Choices like these are concerning. I should not be forced into 3D mode every time I launch a game - go look at the compat. list for god's sake. This is not good functionality and it should be resolved by some means. So there's no reason in the world why I should not have made this post.

So don't make ridiculous, rude comments just for the sake of "saying something". Let's go and read all of your posts on here and see how many you've made that one could argue are simply trivial as well.

I downloaded 304.48 because I was having problems with diablo 3 and hoped this would fix it which it did, problem is with this option not there anymore is not that fact I need to turn it off everytime I start the game, but I need to turn it off everytime I alt tab out the game and go back in!!! grrrr.

I have the stereoscopic service startup set to manual on mine. I just have to bob into System Explorer to start the service if i want some 3d time. Theres a slight performance loss with the service on and 3d disabled so its feels worthwhile to me anyhoo :p

You are awesome Bicka!! Works like a charm. Sad we have to resort to editing the registry to have proper experience when Nvidia Vision is enabled on the system. Hopefully at least THAT option in the reg never goes away. I'm confident Nvidia has seen this now and will reimplement the feature realizing it was a pointless move to remove it in the first place.

Thanks for the hint, Bicka!

@legend80: Don't want to disillusion You but I don't think that we have much influence on Nvidia with our wishes and suggestions in this forum /unsure.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

ROFL! We're talking about ONE KEYSTROKE! You're not going to convince me that your gaming experience is even slightly lessened by having to do a control-T, or even less than that if you've remapped it to Scroll Lock or something.

3d4dd's point is very good, though. If 3D actually causes a game to crash or confuses the game's initial hardware detection then that setting becomes cruical.

It's great that there's a registry option (thanks Bicka!) but that isn't something most folks are going to know about.

My *guess* is that they are taking the option away because they keep getting support tickets coming in from people who set this option up then forget about it or just don't understand it. Then they end up calling support (or even returning the system) because the 3D doesn't work.

It's also possible that this is a half-done feature change. They might just be moving that option over to the 'advanced' section.

Or maybe somebody just messed up and lost one of the menu options. Such is the nature of betas.

Unless im mistaken, Deus Ex:HR needs this option to allow realistic 3D values. I don't think Flugan's registry tool works if the 3D in enabled right away.

46" Samsung ES7500 3DTV (checkerboard, high FOV as desktop monitor, highly recommend!) - Metro 2033 3D PNG screens - Metro LL filter realism mod - Flugan's Deus Ex:HR Depth changers - Nvidia tech support online form - Nvidia support: 1-800-797-6530
