Hey everyone,
Just bought my first Nvidia card and I'm just about to buy the monitors and accessories for a 3D Vision Surround setup but I have a some questions before I do that. Also, this is my first post here so I just wanted to say thanks in advance for any and all help or suggestions... much appreciated.
Anyways, I have a question regarding this article (http://www.geforce.com/whats-new/guides/how-to-correctly-configure-geforce-gtx-680-surround#2) about Single GPU 3D Vision Surround Gaming Setup "Connect the three 3D Vision Surround displays to the two DVI connectors and the single DisplayPort connector, ensuring the monitor connected to the DisplayPort is using a Dual-Link DVI adapter.
Is this accurate? If I have a DisplayPort connector on my GPU (780 Classified) and a DisplayPort input on my monitor (Asus VG248QE), wouldn't I be better off just connecting it via a DP cable as apposed to using a DisplayPort to DVI adapter?
If I'm not mistaken, doesn't DVI and DP use quite different signals? Wouldn't this create an unnecessary issue or lag trying to convert DP signal to DVI? Also, doesn't DP allow more bandwidth than DVI anyway?
Not sure if I am misinterpreting the instructions or if my information about DP is wrong but as I said above, I am just about to order my monitors and cords etc. and I would prefer to do it all at once so if someone would please clarify, that would be great. Thanks

If you want to run 3D you have to use the DVI port on your 3D monitor. HDMI and displayports don't seem to work with 3D Vision. I don't know how it is now, but when graphics cards with displayports first came out you needed to buy an active displayport to dual link DVI adapter which used USB for power, thus making it active and passive had no external power. They're not cheap. I think you'll find a 780 will play a lot of games really well in 3d surround, but if you want to play nearly everything in 3d surround you'll need SLI. I've got SLI Titans and it barely runs Crysis 3 in 3d at 1080p and Battlefield 3 is kind of laggy in 3d surround and games are just going to get even more graphics intensive since the 360 and ps3 are finally going obsolete.
