How to activate Shutter Glasses?
I have set up a new computer for 3D view of molecules. Components are: - Geforce Quadro K5000 - 3DVision 2 Wireless Glasses Kit - ASUS VG278HE (3Vision Ready) Activation of 3D view in withe the assistant of the driver works well. The shutter glasses where turned on for viewing the test pictures with nvidias 3D photo viewer application and I can see all in 3D. There are 3 programs I can use for viewing molecules in 3D: - ChemBio3D Ultra by Cambridgesoft - Pymol (also mentioned as compatible by the nVidia Web page) - Chimera. The last program (Chimera) starts with an error if 3D view is activated in the drivers. The two other programs start normaly and show molecules in 3D view but the shutter glasses are not active. I have to start nVidia 3D photo viewer in addition to the other programs and load one of the sample 3D photos. As soon as this photo is displayed the shutter glasses are active and I can also see my molecules in 3D. How can I activate my shutter glasses for 3D view without displaying photos of games beside my molecules?

They are not talking about my problem but the problem to get 3D Mode activated for the graphic card. My graphic card IS displaying 3D mode also in openGL window mode. If I had wired shutter glasses directly connected to the corresponding port on my graphic card I'm shure all would be fine. But I was unable to by such old wired shutter glasses and also the pro Version of nVidias 3D Vision was not available any more. So I'm stuck with these gaming glasses. Since all is working fine, beside this program 'Chimera', my only problem is to tell the usb-adapter of my glasses to provide the shutter information to the glasses. nVidias 3D photo viewer is giving this command. So all I would need is this photo Viewer without his ability to show photos. A simple program or command to toggle the signals for my glasses on or off.

In the linked post, I know that Helifax and Pirateguybrush both are using a 3D Vision consumer USB kit with Pymol. Helifax states "set the mode to stereo =1 and quad buffering " As far as the "port" on your card, I thought the K5000 didn't have one. The port is available if a small add-on card is used. If you want to use that port, there is a cable that can be used in addition to the USB cord to run from the emitter to the PC. read the User guide pdf You could make your own if it's unavailable in your country. There is no need for old e-dimensionsal revelator glasses.
