Nvidia 3D Vision Kit Glasses Ability of Nvidia Glasses vs. Samsung 3D Glasses
I am considering the purchase of the Nvidia 3D Vision kit because Nvidia 3D glasses appear less bulky that the Samsung 3D glasses, but I have a concern. A number of 60 Hz Samsung DLP Televisions from 2008 & 2009 are 3D capable and have a rear-panel 3D sync signal output for 3D glasses. Samsung 3D glasses will with with these TV sets as well as with the new 120 Hz sets. Are the Nvidia glasses capable of working with both the 60Hz and 120Hz DLP TV sets as well?

The Nvidia 3D vision glasses will sync with the old 60hz-input/120Hz-output DLP television because they have the 3D sync plug at the back.
The new Samsung LCD 3DTVs have been reported to be missing the sync plug and only connect to the proprietary Ssamsung glasses.
There is no way so far to use Nvidia 3D vision glasses on the new sets.

Also try doing a search on this forum for other users with these tvs- im pretty sure that the newest driver has the sammys finally working- but i cant confirm this because im running a mitubishi tv.

Yeah confusing eh Saclarkdoc? I have a Samsung 50" 3d ready Plasma, PN50B450 which is also HDMI 1.3 and checkerboard.
It works perfectly with a pc, the latest Nvidia drivers and 3d Vision glasses. I don't see why you'd want to use 3d TV Play when
you can just use your t.v like any monitor at this point.
I think the 3d TV Play thing is just for the newer 3d t.v models, which only support gaming at 720p. LOL.

Samsung 3D Plasmas from a few years ago use checkerboard 3d input, a lot like the DLPs. We can support those models with 3D Vision using the "Generic DLP mode" from our software.
3DTV Play will not work with 3D TVs that support checkerboard input formats.

Yes, the 61A750 works with 3D Vision, but you'll need to download the 197.13 drivers (CD 1.23) or newer since they had a few prior versions that didn't recognize Samsung DLP. You don't need 3DTV Play, as that's just for the newer (non-DLP) 3D TV's.
Also, FYI, when you run 3d setup, you will select "Generic DLP" display. After that it asks what environment you're using, just pick the default Recommended one. I tried the one that says "in a room with other IR devices" and this causes massive flickering during the daytime. Use the Tools button on your remote to put it into 3D "Mode 1" before running setup, and of course connect your computer via HDMI3. Finally, for some reason left/right is reversed after I run setup, so if it doesn't look 3D, set your TV to the other 3D mode (you have Mode 1 and Mode 2). Other things to know:
- Set depth to 100%, anything less is just no good IMHO (15% default? I don't think so)
- Enable convergence control, because you'll need to adjust this for just about every game. Create "pop-out" until it's too extreme, then back it off until it's okay on your eyes.
Just for fun, if you want to see why DLP is "checkerboard," close one eye when it's in 3D and look really close to the screen. Yep, it's a checkerboard. Half the dots are black. But from a distance, you can't really tell, except sometimes tiny text appears to have holes in it. Despite checkerboard, the big advantage of DLP is there's no ghosting. You may read about ghosting on these forums, that's just for LCD users.

Just for fun, if you want to see why DLP is "checkerboard," close one eye when it's in 3D and look really close to the screen. Yep, it's a checkerboard. Half the dots are black. But from a distance, you can't really tell, except sometimes tiny text appears to have holes in it. Despite checkerboard, the big advantage of DLP is there's no ghosting.
