ALICE MADNESS RETURNS 3d vision
  7 / 11
I have weird shadow problems on alice's legs. Only happens in 3d - also, any object that I get near enough to cast a shadow onto turns dark.

Yes, the term "halo" usually describes strange outlines around objects if they are in front of water or fog effects. This issue often appears in UR3 games (e.g. Hunted, The Ball,...). This issue can't be solved by changing the convergence as the haloes vary depending on the distance to the effect causing this issue. You had to readjust convergence every step the character does! Besides from that in both images the convergence settings are the same - and You will notice that in the second image the steam doesn't cause problems at all. You can also see the difference if You look at the S3D screenshots in 2D mode. In the image taken with 275.50 there is a doubled outline of Alice in front of the steam (in contrary to 275.33). So it's definitely a bug of 275.50. Believe me I've got some experience with tweaking UR3 games for S3D and I know their characteristic S3D issues /wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />
BTW I always use 100% depth and adjust the convergence the way that the character is at the depth level of the screen (no double image when You take off the glasses). This offers a lot of depth and reduces ghosting around the character. Maybe it is "too much depth" for other users but it is not the reason for the halo issues I described above.

I had no problems with shadows as I turned them off in the graphic settings.

Or you could just not give these guys your money for a game that is obviously a lazily done port with no attention to detail...

I simply refuse to pay for games that don't support surround out of the box. What is this? 2005? Devs need to get a clue.

Give the excuses a rest. Alice 1 is still on my top 10 of ALL time fav games of all time and I was looking forward to alice 2. I refuse on principle to give my hard earned cash to a lazy developer whose sole action for the PC is right clicking a file in his console development program and clicking 'convert to pc game' and calling it a day. As long as you guys keep shoveling your money to these sloppy ports then they will continue to do it. I for one will not support that behavior. If/when they release a patch that adds proper WS support to a game that should have ALREADY had it then they will get my money. Not one second before. Enjoy your game. I'm not trying to argue with anyone here so save your snide comments. My ire is directed solely at the devs. You are free to spend your money as you wish and if you choose to support lazy dev behavior then by all means carry on with your chin held high my son.

hUH? I think people (myself included) are just wondering what the basis for your argument is. What evidence do you have of this being a poorly done console to pc port? You speak as though you haven't purchased the game. So if you haven't played it, what weight does your argument hold? Your rant reeks of trying to start something just for the sake of starting something.
If anything, I would like the game to be more controller friendly - I'm playing with an Xbox 360 controller, which works fine, but the manual and in game instructions only tell you the keyboard and mouse functions. I still haven't figured out which button actually activates the 'hysteria' mode!

Press the left analog stick to activate hysteria.
I think it's an interesting trend that porting console games to PC now often includes support for S3D. Fable 3 is an excellent example, Assassin's Creed Brotherhood and Alice 2 are also working quite well with only a few issues. Perhaps the developers will discover that S3D could be a good selling point for the PC version...

Does this game have native support for surround resolutions or not? Is the FOV for surround fubar out of the box or not? Everything that I have read says that it does not natively support surround or eyefinity. This is my point. I'm not sure what's so hard to follow about that? Maybe you're just slow or all the threads I have read online are wrong and the game is a rocking example of nvidia surround support out of the box. Which is it? F3AR is the same way whereas FEAR wass perfect in surround right out of the box. Only difference being the latest one is a console port and the original wasn't. You guys who are not surround or eyefinity could care less about this I realize that. The game works great for you and you're happy. Honestly I could care less about that or how it's working for you. My point is that here it is 2011 and devs are still not adding native support for common hardware that's been around since 2006 now with TH2G. Typical console port oversight.

i have a question,

can your eyes handle 100%depth, because i cant, it feels uncomfortable for the eyes,
or do you tweak also the convergence so the feeling disappears

Yep, but you have to shift the convergence. I just leave my depth at 60 - 70% most of the time and use convergance to get it where I want it. :)

As for this being a lazy port. It doesn't play like one. The only reason you will be asked to press a button on a controller is if you have the controller plugged in. There are higher res textures, almost flawless 3d, and a huge amount of PhysX. In fact if all ports where this good most PC gamers would stop winging about ports being the devil.

So you're saying that surround 3D works great then with no FOV issues? That's not what I read on widescreen forums. BTW wasn't aware that I was riled up to begin with. I would also appreciate the lack of the F word too there champ. Let's keep these forums clean. Thanks.
