Dragon Knight Saga - 3d vision ready?
I just installed my copy and shadows are everywhere. Is their a patch or something that I am missing. Game starts saying 3d vision ready.

To get rid of this problem, rename the exe to aion.exe which seems to be a really good profile for this game. My game is the non steam version and to get around renaming this with the steam version is to use the hard link method. I understand this only works with Vista and later. I have WIN 7.

This worked for me with the displaced shadows especially around the trees and shrubs which is the biggest problem. This also makes the game playable as far as acceptability goes. I've also spent a bit of time with the Helix debug and there are shaders that can be disabled. I did notice that disabling some of them resulted in different problems between indoor and outdoor environments. I have'nt had much time with it, but I'll definitely get around to it.

Hope this helps...

I just tried the aion rename trick and shadows are still rendered at screen depth. This game would need some HeliX magic to sort them out I suspect. I also noted the following with the aion rename trick:
(a) water is rendered 'better' in that with the default profile something is rendered at the wrong depth (maybe a reflection or something), but...
(b) when wading through the water, the 'wake' around the character is rendered at screen depth, which looks bad
(c) lighting is wrong in places. One scene I looked at had a torch and the lights were different in each eye. With the default profile this is not the case.
I did not find out if the aion fix has the 'small tree trunk' problem like the default profile, but this is far less distracting for me than lighting being wrong.
In the end I don't think there is a good fix by just switching profiles - shadows are just wrong and need turning off.
Having said all this, the game looks great once you get used to the fact that you need to turn shadows off. SolutionGaming has a video and some pictures of the game (http://www.3dsolutiongaming.com/az_articles_v4/divinity2/divinity2.html), many of the screenshots provided by Zloth look great and show what the game has in store.

So after playing one of the earlier levels again with lots of 'small trees', I will eat my own words and say that the aion profile really does sort this problem out. I was getting eye-ache with the default profile. I think I can handle a few mis-rendered lights afterall ;-) Shadows are still wrong though and need turning off. Also looking at the water is better (by default it is like Skyrim was, pre-HeliX fix). So for now I am going to stick with the aion profile, but not checked indoors yet.
One other thing with this game, the cut scenes (of which there are many talking to characters etc) really pop things out too much - so you will benefit from the convergence presets that you can put in the HeliX DX9Settings.ini.

EDIT: Indoors is screwed up (lights all wrong), and not playable for me. Hmmnn :-(

Well I own and will mark it, yea its all a bit advanced. Maybe one day I will be able to look at it.
Torch and light in different eyes can be fixed easily though. I really cant handle looking at all the bad stuff right now though because of eye problems.

I played it about a year ago. The main game was ok here and there but mostly was pretty bad in 3D. The expansion game, however, worked far better. I don't think the engine was any different it was just that the things that caused problems (like water and many trees) simply weren't in the game.

Also, Bellegar rules. /wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />
