any nvidia driver freezers comp at welcome screen both regular and vision drivers
1 / 2
as the title suggests, im unable to install any nvidia driver
This is after a format and fresh win7 install, ive tried various nvidia drivers all with the same result, complete freeze at the windows 7 welcome screen.
I then have to restart in safe mode, remove nvidia drivers with driver sweeper and then windows starts fine, until the next time I attempt a nvidia installation.
Completely lost on this one.
The comp randomly died last week, h/d errors, replaced all h/d's and as said format and fresh win 7 install.
any ideas ?
480 graphics card is only 3wks old - could it be hardware? or I think more likely some software issue?

yep, all motherboard drivers downloaded and installed -
well actually used the downloaded drivers I had backup the last time I installed, will pop over to asus and check if any updates are available
thankyou
<edit> gave up and decided to format again, then after format, install nvidia straight away - it froze at welcome screen
From were do you install the drivers ?
Back-ups or downloaded from the web ?
tried both
RESULT:- i swapped the graphics card into the other pci slot, and all working fine, which is good :-) <with standard nvidia driver>
but does that mean the original slot, which both this and my previous cards have gone in is dodgy ?
anyway windows working, so will again for the 4th time reinstall steam and apps and see what happens.
Ive enjoyed playing Blur on the xbox, but defo time to get back to pc gaming

It just adds new adresses to the videocard...,it will probably work if you switch it back again.
Up and running - switching pci slot worked install vision drivers without a problem, then out of interest, put the grpahic card back into the original pci slot - and as Ferry predicted - Worked fine.
