Hi guys
My old Acer HN274H is about to blow up, the power pack is about 70 degrees and the screen keeps flickering with an annoying buzzing when switching to 3D!!!
I anticipate death is imminent! What 27" 3Dvision LCD's are your preferred choices?
Thanks and I hope I can read these replies before my screen keels over and dies!

Just STOP using the power supply unit immediately! Give it to some repair shop, let them fix it, before it actually kills the monitor.
Noise you described means the power section is broken, but monitor might be 100% ok besides that!
On the other hand, this Acer has only Vision 1? Then break it. You'll get a reason to buy Vision 2 (which is much better thanx to low persistence, not only in 3D).
My choices:
Benq x2411z, or 2720z if you need 27".
If you have money, then Asus ROG 27" 1440p G-sync 120Hz.
If not, I would go with some Benq.
It's just for a year or two anyway (Rift is coming, and zero crosstalk + OLED = bye bye LCD monitors).

Yah, there are plenty of youtube videos showing how to solder in new capacitors. You can get them cheap via the internet provided they do not charge extra handling fees. I use Digi-Key, they have a huge assortment and off long life versions. Pretty easy to do, just be careful because capacitors store electrons that can give you a good zap depending on the capacitance.

Well thanks guys for the feedback! I just woke up and did as Pirate suggested and turned it off over night :)
I have a big screen already Libertine and a RIFT so the use of this screen is 3D Vision gaming and work. I will look into the suggestions:

But remember about the issues, research the topic before buying. It seems like the newest ones are better, my friend bought one, had a problem, got a replacement from Asus, but this one was manufactured a few month later, and this is free of any problems, BUT my friend doesn't have 3D glasses, so this is still a big question mark.

Thanks RonsonPL, I had a read of that thread earlier and it has put me off the coin associated with the screen problems.
Not not so sure if this is a big deal, but the ASUS VG278HE has good feedback but was made almost 3 years ago.
