Geforce 280m and notebook adapters being left behind.

Luckily i managed to resist myself from buying a 3d screen and the glasses kit just because my girlfriend would have killed me if i got home with nfs shift, a g25, plus $600 on extra unexpected goodies... i just need a day or two :D. Now preparing myself for the upgrade, i came to the dissapointment of kniowing that

i don really understand, there's a ton of people moving to the notebook community, and dell is spending a fortune in advertising for their alienware computers, meaning the market base is really big.
Most of these notebooks are certainly not the "mobile" options, they're just a less difficult to transport, option for anyone looking for an upgrade. it basically comes down to being able to afford it as the options are really almost the same as for a desktop pc.
I have an AVA direct D900F Clevo Notebook, 2.9Ghz I7, 6Gb of ram, Geforce GTX 280M, and a raid with 3 SSD drives.... and i can't run 3d, while i'm pretty sure it's just a driver limitation.
My sister's $300 desktop can, and i can't.. so basically to the question.

When notebook drivers will include 3D vision support?
I've seen a good few people running Stereo 3D on laptops through a external monitor. Not sure if that was the iz3D driver or nVidia's though. But surely it shouldn't matter, as long as your using a external monitor.
I'm sure someone will reply telling you how you can get the 3D Vision driver to install and work.

thats exactly why i have suggested a driver off laptopvideo2go.com, they are desktop drivers modded to install on laptop cards. someone allready did reply telling them that ;)

Well, from my point of view, the point of a 12 pound laptop like mine, is to have an easier to move workstation if i want to use it at work or just go play at a friends house. when i play it's on my house the laptop its usually with the lid closed since i have a big screen keyboard and mouse connected to it... yea i'm using it like a desktop.
I downloaded the drivers from laptop2go but i get this error while selecting 3D Vision Discover :
Error in StereoCPLAPI,
StereoOBJ -> enableStereo() failed to change setting
I know it's not the same as trying with the proper monitor and the shutter glasses, but there's no guarrantee that it'll work either.
The refresh rate of the builtin monitor is 60hz, and i understand that you need a 120hz screen in order to get a proper effect from the 3D without flickering... but is there support for 60hz screens, or it's a buy a 120hz screen or die technology?

maybe the hardware physically doesnt support it, what driver version did you try?
if it did work on a 60hz screen you would be playing games at a maximum of 30hz as it halfs teh refresh rate because it is split between each eye. thats why it run son 120z monitors, so you at least get 60hz out of it. it would probably give you a headache at 60/30hz

i was trying the anaglyph mode to see if it actually works... i'm not spending 700 cad on the whole set just to figure out if it does work or not with the moded drivers.
Hopefully we could get someone with the same card reporting success or failure...
so please if you have an AVA Direct, Eurocom or Sager Clevo D900f with a 290m gtx by nvidia, and bought the kit without knowing, post either your successful or unsuccessful attempt (with custom drivers ovbiously), or express your need for the updated drivers.

Here are my experiences with the 3D-Stereo drivers in Anaglyph Mode(3D-Vision-Discover). Hardware is a Dell XPS M1730 Laptop with the two 9800M GT 's SLi. OS is Win Vista32 .
Forceware 181.20 + modded inf + 3D-Stereo 181.20:

worked fine with the registry hack from 181.20. When you installed the Stereo-Wizzard the hack was not needed.
Forceware 185.85 Notebook Driver + 3D-Stereo 185.85:
worked but system freezed when 3D was enabled on leaving a game. When 3D was disabled by hotkey before leaving then there was no problem.

First driver with the 3D-Vision-Discover color correction. Maybe with too much green and yellow is my opinion.
/thumbup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> Forceware 190.38 + modded inf + 3D-Stereo 190.38: /thumbup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

workes fine for me.
Error in StereoCPLAPI,
StereoOBJ -> enableStereo() failed to change setting
Forceware 191.03 + selfmade modded inf + 3D-Stereo 191.03:
works only by half.
On internal screen(and in clone mode with the HDTV) tells me: "This laptop's panel is not qualified for 3D Vision"
Works fine on my external HDTV Samsung LE37B650.
Forceware 191.07 + modded inf + 3D-Stereo 191.07:
works only by half.

I personally just got my AlienWare M17x Laptop with the two Nvidia GeForce GTX 280M graphics cards installed. Like a complete moron, I took the word of an employee of Nvidia, and believed that the Samsung Syncmaster and Nvidia 3D Glasses would function correctly when used with my laptop! Well, I bought them 4 days before receiving my laptop thinking I was gonna be gaming in full 3-D !!! WRONG! Not only will the drivers not support mobile processors, Nvidia also makes no analygraph 3D drivers that will work with my laptop chipset!

Just send me your Samsung 2233 and the Geforce-3D-Vision Glasses and I will be happy with my XPS M1730  .
I'm just kidding.
You can use the 3D-Vision system but you have to use a modded INF for the desktop-drivers you can find at laptopvideo2go . The 3D-Stereo-driver you can load seperately from Nvidia.
I guess that the 190.38 or the 191.07 should work fine with the 3D-shutters.

i7 870 @ 3.8GHz + MSI GTX1070 Gaming X + 16GB RAM + Win10 64Bit Home + AW2310+3D-Vision
The 3D vision package has been designed by nvidia so that it only works on nvidia approved and certified hardware.
If your hadware doesn't work with 3D vision drivers you can still try other brands competing 3D products like DDD or iZ3D.
