Forget the official 3D. Play in DX9 with this hack. It's MUCH better. low depth, and high convergence.

This method works ok for me.

conan do you mind posting a JPS of what your settings are giving you? I tried the DX9 start/stop hack as soon as thales100 posted it and while its better than the official method, I still could not get any significant 3D even with the low depth/high convergence method without completely destroying foreground separation (gun in my screenshot).

If its substandard, go over to the DE forums and let them know while the dev are still there (If they're still there).

Thing is, they've yet to acknowledge there's even a problem so my hopes are not high for making any progress. It really makes you wonder if they even know what a good S3D experience is to begin with, or if they even have a 3D Vision Kit/monitor to Q&A on? In any case, rajkoderp already clearly detailed the problem and not a single response from devs, so I'm not sure what good posting more will do if they aren't willing to acknowledge any problem with their S3D implementation. Not to mention it seems they have much bigger issues with the stuttering issue from the masses that has not been fixed in 2-3 patches, which will and should get attention sooner than S3D support.

Didnt know they hadnt fixed the stuttering issue though, i guess at least some of the programmers are still there then. Nixxes posted guidelines for use in that thread, i assumed he was a dev, maybe not. But if its not right, we need to get on this while the programmers still have other stuff to do, like create new threads, contact support, pm Nixxes if hes a dev. I would do it myself, but i won't buy the game until it supports 3D. So i dont really know what the situation is. No one ever answered the question on whether or not the depth hack works with this either. Look at it this way, if were stranded on an Island we need to be waving our hands as Eidos passes us by, if were not, they may think were ok. Theres only one post-patch comment on that thread.

I got Deus Ex through steam and I can play using 3DVision. Make sure that you enable DX11, otherwise 3D vision is not working!

Seeing the "excellent" rating from NVidia and the game being patched several times, I thought it's OK to finally buy and play this Game. Only to see that - again - convergence is fixed and there's no way provided by the game developer or NVidia to change this.
I'm very disappointed by this and I can't play this game in 3D using my screen setup. Also I don't have a clue how the 3D engine sets the convergence because it doesn't use the normal NVAPI calls, so I can't patch it myself. Other drivers like iZ3D can't render this game at all but they also don't claim to do so. I just wish somebody would have mentioned this before I bought a game for nothing.

there's a 3d unlocker mentioned in this thread that basically shuts down 3d vision, then start the game, and then you kick 3d vision back again and it let's you play the game with decent 3d using low depth and high convergence, it's still the best option for 3d with this game so check it out.

Thanks for the courtesy, but prior writing my frustration down I've already tried every possible hack ever mentioned. Using the service stop/start script doesn't kick in any 3D vision functionality on my machine neither in DX9 nor DX11, not by switching tasks, not by changing resolutions etc. (I'm using 3DTV Play)
On version 1.2.633 convergence was not locked, but all lights and shadows where rendered wrong. Current version renders fine except the lights, but convergence is locked. When I find some time, I will debug this thing and try to fix it, but for now I'm fed up with it.

Depth.bat doesn't work and this game definitely needs if going the Nvidia route. I can't get the built in 3D to work, the option is grayed out for some reason. Tridef's depth is perfect, but none of the lights will show in dx11.

My conclusion is its not worth playing in 3D, all due to a huge lack of depth. It a shame, because its a lot like Metro 2033 in that they used tons of actual polygons to create geometry, not just visual tricks, which is great for 3D. In DX11, Tridef has the depth, but lights and shadows are disabled. In DX9, almost everything works with Tridef, but light reflections and shadows are wrong.

When 3D Vision support was added I instantly bought the game. I was quickly disappointed by the result when I talked with Rajko and realized the amount of depth was minimal.
Now after a considerable break I decided to check if there was any depth at all in the environment and I found depth to be present but everything beyond about 0.7m hit the cieling in the depth scale and apears with the same apparent depth. By changing the 3D settings in the registry I've got som initial results so far.
Still in the early stages but it is indeed progress.
