Help with 3D Vision setup to Projector please 3D Vision Kit + Acer H5360 Projector
  1 / 2
Hi all, I've been pulling my hair out for the last 6 hrs trying to get 3D Vision to recognise my projector.

Currently I have a GTX 580 and an Acer H5360 Projector. The projector is in 3D Vision mode, so I then start the 3D vision setup on the PC. It will not recognise my projector, just keeps saying it cant find it.

I have an HDMI cable coming from my PC into my Denon 1911 3D receiver then from the receiver I have an HDMI cable going to the projector. The reason I use the receiver is that I also have my 360, my Wii and PS3 connected. I then connect the USB cable straight to the Emitter. The computer screen shows on the projector, the Emitter is recognised but it wont see my projector.

Am I doing something wrong, or missing something ? It's getting late and I am a bit tired so of course there is a chance my head could be missing something obvious.

Here is a crude diagram of my setup for ease of use...

It should be in my original post.

It's a Denon AVR-1911 receiver. It is 3D incase you are wondering.

Have you tried running the hdmi cable directly from the PC to the projector without going through the reciever as a test to see if the reciever is the issue?

I have definitely head of people having trouble running the 3D signal through a receiver.

Try connecting the projector without the receiver, disconnect any other display that may be connected. Varify that the H5360 is detected and listed under monitors in Device Manager and not listed as plug and play. If it is indeed listed there, then confirm it is listed in the Nvidia control panel as well. If it is, run the set up wizard and confirm that everything is operational. Everything fine? Then reintroduce the receiver to the equation and hopefully all is still good to go. If when you look in Device Manager it listed as plug and play, unistall the driver, then you can try right clicking the desktop, select screen resolution and click detect. once detected, it may require a restart.

Thanks all

Direct to the PC from the projector, everything seems to work fine.

D-Man11, as soon as I introduce the receiver everything looks like its going to work, but it doesnt, the h5360 is still recognised but the 3D doesnt work. I then try to reconfigure it, and again the 3d vision software does not pick up the projector. I've looked through the receiver's info and I thought there may be a 3D setting I need to enable, or setup passthrough or whatever, but I cant see any setting at all like that.

Surely there must be a way to get it working through the receiver ?
Thanks all

Sounds like a HDMI handshake issue. You should look through the owner's manual and see what it says about proper sequence for connecting devices (it may tell you to hotplug on initial set up to store the display EDID?). If not maybe something like the Gefen HDMI detective would work for you. You might look through the thread on this receiver over at AV Science forumns and see if any owner's have posted a solution.

BATPIG'S "DENON-TO-ENGLISH DICTIONARY"
SETUP GUIDE AND FAQ
Denon manuals are terrible. Thankfully, batpig is here!

Try resetting the microprocessor (p. 82) which will return all settings to their factory level defaults and require you to run AUTO SETUP again.

Thanks D-Man11, I tried the resetting etc, and the thread here >>> http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=191096

This didnt help. I'm close to giving up.

It may not work.
Even though the receiver is "3D", it's probably just referring to the HDMI1.4 modes and not NVidias 1280x720@120Hz mode.

Thanks ERP, but I have checked the list of my receivers supported modes and it does support 1280x720 @ 120Hz VESA STD. Even in pass through mode (receiver in standby) it should accept that mode. I'm not sure why then, it 'wont work'.

Oh snap, I wasn't paying attention. The Acer 5360 will only do 3D via the VGA connection not HDMI. Sorry I overlooked that. Unless you have the 5360BD?

NVM, I hastily posted this when it popped in my head without refreshing what was said in the thread. You state that without the receiver it works fine over HDMI.

I'd go with my earlier suggestion of a Gefen HDMI detective, you initially connect it without the receiver, it stores your Display's EDID information. Then, install it in-line before the receiver, now your graphics card is not trying to handshake your display across the receiver.

Yay for HDCP and HDMI handshakes. HDCP is a creation of Hell's minions, to grive the righteous!
