yea really good points there Photios, i was doing some research since photios said that it was almost the same as in performace and he was right. so am gonna hold my horses on that gtx 590... its only like 15 fps more than what i have.. i just ran just cause 2 concrete benchmark and got 45.12 fps at 1920x1080 with 8xAA/16xAF. the gtx 590 got 58fps so i guess ill wait for the price to drop and Quad fix, i would just get it for less noise, less heat, less power consumption and more room in my case!

i remember back in November 2005 when i bought the 7800 GTX 512 i payed like $750 for it lol

Yeah, but Crysis 2 is a console port with a bogus 3D mode. I want to see them running the original Crysis in 3D Vision Surround and tell me what FPS they get.

Cmon cyber,
I don't think that's quite right. If anything it's the other way around, with a common denominator approach of DX9. And Im not finding the 3D to be as bad as the polemic on this forum.

You do have a point though. Let's see what kind of framerate one would get in Crysis 1 DX10 3D Surround. I'd like to see if Crytek can deliver on their promise of DX11 and make a kind of technological break through they did in 2007.

@photios: Check this video, the 3D mode is a sham. They just basically put the gun and background on 2 different layers, its not really 3d.

In the demo anyway. Actually, using the following settings creates an effect I rather enjoy. Not perfect, but much better than the low depth of the default 3d settings.
r_StereoDevice = 3

;Supposedly forces the Nvidia driver

r_StereoMode = 1

;Supposedly enables dual rendering mode but doesn't seem to do anything extra

r_StereoStrength = 1

;This appears to control the amount of depth to a degree. If I set it to .5 I barely have

;any bars showing when I start messing with the depth wheel. If I set it to something like

;2 the bar is maxed out already. Default is 1 (If you take off your glasses and scroll the

;depth wheel either way, you can see the separation change on your crosshair and some of

;the near objects but I can't see any change to actual game depth)

r_StereoScreenDist = .006

;This is kind of their way of adjusting convergence, at least you will notice it with a

;weapon held. If I change it to .1 the weapon doesn't stick out so much. Setting it to

;something like .5 makes it a lot more pronounced. Default is .25

r_StereoEyeDist = .12

;Wow, this appears to be a major 3D tweak. The default is .02. Changing it to .1 you can

;see a big increase in separation to me. The only problem is on either edge of the screen

;is a weird distortion effect but the 3D looks a whole lot more pronounced when I tweak

;this. The field range appears to be in a fairly tight range.
