3dTV play 1080p 60hz for gaming works! solution and questions.

dunno about your Sharp TV but the Samsungs need the Input for HDMI(1) relabeled to PC in order for Checkerboard to work. and yes its 1080p 60hz, 60fps per eye, although its checkerboard so only half the pixels in each frame refresh go to each eye. craps on 24hz 1080p 3dTV play though. wish i could figure out frame sequential in win8 for a full 1080p image at only 30fps per eye to see what its like and compare the two.

OK I will try to re-label the HDMI input to PC and then try again to use Checkerboard. Nothing in the users manual tells me anything about gaming in 3D. All i know is that the TV runs 240 hz in movie mode and is active 3D. Mass Effect and Skyrim are the most amazing games in 1920 x 1080p 3D at 24hz as long as u are not fighting. What if i used a 3D Vision kit and connected it to the HDTV? Would that work?

/\ No. If you're asking would a 3D Vision kit allow you to do 1080p@120hz. Cause your TV is only 60hz input. 240hz is just interpolation the processor is doing. EDIT: Unless you're still talking about checkerboard. Then I don't know. I just commented because many people are confused by TV marketing and don't release HZ rates being advertised are all about processing and the TVs and still only 60hz at input.

no i was asking if the 3d vision kit would allow me to game in full HD at 1920 x 1080p 3D at 60hz per eye! So what would happen if i tried to connect the newest 3D vision kit to the PC and/or TV! Ok, so does checkerboard work with active 3D? thx for replying!

Won't work if you use HDMI, it doesn't have enough bandwidth for 1080p@60Hz. If you use dual-DVI, it can work. Not as sure about checkboard, no experience with it. But from what I've read it should work. Update: seems like revision 1.4b is supposed to support 1080p@60Hz, if you have the right cable.

Just to clearly understand what you can do (from all testing I made) : PC to Active 3DTV : Using HDMI conn.: 1280x720 resolution (720p) in stereo (3D) at 60 hertz (720p & 60 fps for each eye) 1920x1080 resolution (1080p) in stereo (3D) at 24 hertz (1080p & 24 fps for each eye) Blueray movies will work very well in 24 hertz at 1080p (it is designed for) PC action games must be used at 720p to be playable PC to Passive 3DTV : Using HDMI connector : 1920x1080 resolution (divided by 2 because using passive method) (1080i) in stereo (3D) at 60 hertz (1080 interleave & 60 fps for each eye) You always lost half of the lines in 3D and loose image quality. Howerver, movies will still be fine. For games, it will be playable but less precise than active TV3D, I don't know if last videocard driver will do something special for passive display so image quality can be saved even if resolution is cut by half. As an example : Call of Duty Blackops 2 for Xbox360 have special option for 3D passive display so quality image is preserved (you do not loose 1 line on 2), but your resolution is always cut by half. The only way (today) to get full 1080p at 60 fps for each eye in 3D format is using special PC 3D Monitor with Dual DVI input (and Dual DVI output for your videocard), like with the Asus VG series monitor for 3D. For testing purpose, it will be the same quality image you can have on an 1080p Active 3DTV but with 60 fps and not only 24 fps. For now, even if cable or port can handle full 1080p 3D, no 3DTV will support it, they are all capped to 24 Hertz (or fps if you want). It's good for a strategy game, but not with an action game. Dual DVI cable is very like an ordinary DVI cable, with more pins inside to connect. Usually, you will have a Dual DVI cable bundled with 3D monitor that can handle it. With the lastest DirectX 11, less energy was taken to deliver 3d experience on latest games. This is sad, but it's must be taken into account if you plan to get a 3D monitor. Take times to check if games you like can be used in 3D !

The only reason I find 1080p 24hz unplayable is that every time I try it there's like a whole half second of lag. Is that normal, or is there something that can be done? I'm using a projector and don't notice any lag at 720p 60hz.

The only way to alleviate this a little is to use a utility that throttles back the poll rate of your mouse, then your control to view ratio would be closer to 1:1 than 5:1. It still won't be nearly as good as 60hz but at least you'll actually be in sync with the 24hz.

Cool, but I'm actually using a 360 controller. Is there a similar sort of deal with that?

I don't use a controller but selecting Game option on my TV reduces most of my mouse lag, don't know if you have that option in projectors.

@kludd40: I'm sure there is, it might even have the same refresh/sampling rate being on USB also but I can't find anything on it or any way to change it. With the old PS/2 mice there was a utility that you could use to up the sampling rate, it was down to 40 or so hz if I remember right, but you could also set it lower too if you wanted.

Did you not read the OP? There's a link that tells you how. And why would you want checkerbosrd, when the native stereo format on your display is Line Interleaved?

All passive 3D TVs are Line Interleaved? How do I know if this stuff works for my TV? When I tried the image would show like in 3D but when I put the glasses nothing happens. My TV doesn't go in 3D mode, only the image looks like is in 3D but the TV doesn't know/recognize it is in 3D. The option to activate 3D is still available in the remote control and I can activate 3D SBS or T&B even when the image already look like it is in 3D (like double images).

What if i do the same trick as people do to get 4K to work? Connect two HDMI cables to the TV and do that trick? I wonder if that work for 4K should work for 1080p as well?
