Are there any 1080p projectors that work with nvidia 3D Vision at the full 1080p? What are the limitation? I read something about a lack of bandwidth cribbing the display to a lower resolution and/or a lower refresh rate. I am specifically looking at an Optoma HD33. Had anyone tried this projector out? It advertises 3D at 1080p, but nvidia doesn't list this or any other 1080p projector on their official list.

Just having a look at the Optoma HD33, that should get supported but it might take a few weeks/months.
Going by the specs you could run rollermod(now). This would require a cable between the VESA port on the projector and the VESA port (on the back) of the nvidia emitter.

Well.. only one way to find out. I went to Best Buy today and order an HD33, I explained my concerns, and they assured me I can return it without restocking fee if I can't get it working. Unfortunately, it's on backorder. Expected arrival 11/4.
Oddly, the Optoma website says this projector supports HDMI 1.4a and all the 3D modes that offers, but lists only 3 of them. Additionally, the reviews I have read only list 3. DLP-3D (checkerboard) isn't listed, and that one sounds the most promising. I find that odd since this is a DLP projector.

Nope. Back ordered until November 4th. It appears all HDMI is limited that way, although I'm wondering what tricks are done by DLP 3D (aka checkerboard). I've read something about faster frame rate at 1080p, but I'm not sure I understand how.

Checkerboard is half resolution.
It's exactly what it sounds like it's a 1080p frame buffer where each alternating pixel in the input is for the left or right eye.
The framepacked HDMI resolutions contain complete individual images for each eye.
A 720p frame packed display has around the same number of unique pixels, but it's likely that with scaling the checkerboard image will look better.
Side by Side should be pretty close, but NVidia has no support for it.

another way to describe checkerboard is: full 1920x 1080p resolution per eye but the pixels are shared. thats why it looks almost as good as native. i agree though that 720 native is almost as good, i have both and prefer the 720 projector.

I read some days ago (dont remember if it was in Toms Hardware, Anandtech, Tweaktown or any other hardware site that I follow) about the first dual link 1080p projector that should be able to do 3D 1080p, it was from a northen europe company, it is very high end (30K). About your HD33, I´m confused. Can you play a game at 720p full screen in 3D, like myself in my Benq W700? How is it? (I´ve been playin Whitcher 2 and Metro 2033 in 3D and I really recommend it!)
What about a 2D 1080p movie, is it worth it?

I can't believe it's such an abnormality to have DualLink DVI on a 3D projector. I spent some time searching for one in vain.
Full screen works just fine with 720p or 1080p. I didn't get a chance to play any games to a significant degree so I can't comment on the quality. I just loaded up a couple to verify that the 3D kicked in. All of the games I tried were at 1080p/24. The only thing I tried at 720p was the Medusa demo. Once I got things working, I concentrated on 1080p. I am concerned that I 'felt' a bit on input lag on the mouse cursor. I didn't spend time tracking it down, but I have read this projector adds > 45ms to each frame.. which would be a gaming deal breaker. I tried turning all processing off.. pure motion et al., and I could not tell a difference. I only had a keyboard with an integrated touchpad on the test rig, and so, it could have been the touchpad, it could have been the 24Hz, or it may be an issue with the projector itself.
I didn't try any movies outside of the 3Dvisionlive site, and none in 2D.

Mitsubishi 65" DLP 3d HDTV (good old 1080p checkerboard since 2007!!!)

The projector only supports side-by-side and top/bottom. Page flipping is listed, but has always been greyed out; there's no <apparent> support for checkerboard. In any case, the projector worked as a 'generic PnP monitor', but I tried Rollermod anyway, and couldn't get any of those modes to work. I'm hoping someone has a hack to enable checkerboard in the projector.
In the end, I only have two options for 3D display. 720p @60Hz or 1080p @24Hz. Oddly, the NVIDIA Medusa 3D demo always launched at 720p/120Hz or 1080p/60Hz, and I would get an error stating HDMI 1.4 does not support either. No matter how I changed settings within the NVIDIA control panel, or the Medusa configuration, the result was the same. I was able to get it working by replacing the monitor driver (INF) with one from Brad Gearon. It's the same process as the Roller Mod, but remember the projector doesn't support any rollermod modes. I had better results, and everything I launched after used the correct refresh.
So here's the recipe:

Monster 3D RF Glasses (though I am planning to get the MUCH cheaper Optoma glasses)
NVIDIA GTX 560 Ti w/ 285.62 drivers
Brad Gearon's "NVIDIA Unsupported 3DTV (EDID Overide)" monitor driver
1. Hook up projector, emitter, glasses
2. Install NVIDIA drivers (typical install) - reboot
3. Install Brad Gearon's driver - reboot though it isn't required
4. After a reboot, enable steroscopic 3D in the NVIDIA control panel, and set the desktop to an HD 3D resolution.
With the desktop running a 3D res, I had no problem viewing windowed 3D content - like in a web browser or photo viewer. The desktop stays flat, and the window pops out; very cool.

I read some days ago (dont remember if it was in Toms Hardware, Anandtech, Tweaktown or any other hardware site that I follow) about the first dual link 1080p projector that should be able to do 3D 1080p, it was from a northen europe company, it is very high end (30K). About your HD33, I´m confused. Can you play a game at 720p full screen in 3D, like myself in my Benq W700? How is it? (I´ve been playin Whitcher 2 and Metro 2033 in 3D and I really recommend it!)
What about a 2D 1080p movie, is it worth it?

I can't believe it's such an abnormality to have DualLink DVI on a 3D projector. I spent some time searching for one in vain.
Full screen works just fine with 720p or 1080p. I didn't get a chance to play any games to a significant degree so I can't comment on the quality. I just loaded up a couple to verify that the 3D kicked in. All of the games I tried were at 1080p/24. The only thing I tried at 720p was the Medusa demo. Once I got things working, I concentrated on 1080p. I am concerned that I 'felt' a bit on input lag on the mouse cursor. I didn't spend time tracking it down, but I have read this projector adds > 45ms to each frame.. which would be a gaming deal breaker. I tried turning all processing off.. pure motion et al., and I could not tell a difference. I only had a keyboard with an integrated touchpad on the test rig, and so, it could have been the touchpad, it could have been the 24Hz, or it may be an issue with the projector itself.
I didn't try any movies outside of the 3Dvisionlive site, and none in 2D.
