I've also had this issue happen to and it seems to be related to whether or not I have my second monitor hooked up. If I'm using them both then 3d vision wont work and if I unplug the second one from the video card it still won't work. But then if I unplug the power cord on my 2420tx and plug back in it works fine. So my guess is that its probably some sort of driver issue with the nvidia card.

So if you don't have your other monitor plugged in, it never happens at all? I do have a second monitor that I hardly ever use hooked up. I tried disabling it, but never disconnecting it. I will give it a shot, but in the mean time, let me know if the initial problem ever happens when you have no monitor plugged into the other port.

So I tried disconnecting the second monitor, but it is still doing the same thing. I had an old UPS that I don't use, so I just put the 2420 on the battery output of that. So now I use the switch on the UPS with my big toe instead of the power button on the monitor /confused.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':confused:' />

It's not looking good for owners of this monitor. I called BenQ's support today and I can't believe how ridiculous the whole interaction was. I've been scouring the internet for the past week trying to find others who are also experiencing this problem with the 3D cutting out. The "tech support" guy at BenQ had no clue what he was doing, kept putting me on hold, and his solution was to read the manual (which he emailed me) and call Nvidia. When I asked about the steps I would have to take if down the line I would need a warranty replacement he said that he wasn't sure because that request was "very unusual". Further he said he couldn't find 2nd tier tech support but that "he would be back in the morning". So apparently their top tech team is the one guy who isn't there, and the one who is doesn't think his company, the manufacturer of the product, should be responsible for the proper function of the products they sell. That's scary stuff! I love the monitor and other than this issue I have no problems. The monitor stand alone is worth the cost of admission! At the same time I have a dual monitor setup and this bad boy is sitting beside a Samsung 213T I bought in 2003 that's still going strong. I don't expect every LCD to last a decade but I certainly expect that for $545 it will outlive the 2 or 3 year (the "tech" didn't know the warranty duration) pittance of a warranty these things come with. I want peace of mind when I drop $545 on a monitor! I don't think that's asking too much. Here is the final straw though: Amazon just de-listed the monitor. The woman setting up my refund on the phone at Amazon wouldn't tell me why it was de-listed, but I got the impression that I'm not the first person asking for a refund on this thing. Needless to say I'll be sending this monitor back tomorrow and looking for something else from a company that stands behind its products.
Here is the Amazon link (if it's still there): http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0076PO6JI/ref=oh_o01_s00_i00_details

I reproduced the problem when :
PC = Off
Screen = Off
Glasses = Off
I have to wait one hour and more without opening it.
After, if I test the 3D its not working.
Can you do this test !
My GPU = gtx 580

sometimes my 3d works after pc shut down and restart, i think it could be not charged properly.
the benq support suggest used a usb charging cable from your own pc not the usb port on monitor so i will give that a try.

Do I have to connect the glasses before closing the pc or i connect the glasses before opening the PC ?

it's ok.
I connected the USB cable to my glasses when everything is open (pc-tv). I have to wait one hour without opening it. After, open all.
- I executed the test stereoscopic 3D with glasses connected to usb cable. His works.

Now, if the battery is never discharged. The lifetime of the battery will not be shortened?
I hope this is not the final solution!
Guys, please start posing your hardware specs. So far, I am seeing one thing in common of those who have listed it. That would be the GTX 580. Is there anyone that does not have this card that is having this issue? What does your rig consist of?

I have tried several different drivers as well so in a likelihood it is not software related. It sounds like some sort of handshaking issue between the emitter and the graphics card. I have also noticed some issues now where the emitter stays on (or at least the LED) for long after the 3D program is shut off. Then after about 5 minutes the screen will go black for a second as it kicks itself out of 3D mode and turns the LED off. Again a hard power cycle seems to solve that if I don;t feel like waiting the 5 minutes.

I built my brother a lower end gaming rig with a GTX 460 a few months ago. I will see if I can use his to test it out. So far, all I'm seeing is the 580s. I'll let you know something this weekend.

hardware: geforce 480/win7 64bit/benq 2420tx/3d vision 2 l 1920x1080-120mhz
this is not case of battery problem, i've left my pc on all day to charge only come back to find the same problem. must be an error between emitter to 3d glass, so this must be a hardware error nothing we can do until benq stop blaming the problem on nvidia.

I am picking up the Benq XL2420TX within the next few days so when I get it, I will post what happens with mine.
In the meantime enjoy the free issue awareness bump.
