CRT mode seems to be back in 290.53, and the emitter emulator works again to... /biggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Really? Could someone else confirm? (I'm at work.../shifty.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':shifty:' />)

Edit: Not funny. No CRT mode.

Just installed the 290.53 beta driver. The Generic CRT mode is still missing, despite the fact that the nVidia Emitter is connected to the system. Only Generic DLP is offered (beside 3D Vision Discover). So no Skyrim optimization for me, back to older drivers.

I did not even find a notice in the driver release note that the CRT mode is removed.

Thank you and Merry Christmas, nVidia /angry.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

I did an update from 285 rather than a clean install, maybe that explains it?

I still have a CRT option, also in the setup wizard.

btw - I am using an EDID blocked VGA cable and customised monitor inf driver.

Would you mind to share your inf driver? This seems to be the key.

I have just done some more tests, something strange is happening...

My customised inf is not actually working properly, CRT mode is selected but it displays anaglyph colours (Discover)

BUT, inf files from projectors still work on my CRT, but only at their native resolutions, use this to get 1024x768@120Hz

Fellas, please, a word of advice:

nVidia is actively eliminating CRT mode.

If we post any workarounds here or on any other forum, they will probably be blocked immediately through the next driver revision.

May I humbly request that any found workarounds only be communicated through personal and secure communications.

The way I see it, the time we will need the workarounds most will be when a the new keplar cards are released next year, at which point, hopefully, nVidia will have better things to do than blocking hacked drivers.

Until then, we can continue with the 285.xx drivers as a worst case scenario.

Let the protests continue, but lets also not shoot ourselves in the foot by posting workarounds openly.

A humble but prudent observation.

I think you're absolutely right Rage..

Also, I've defended Andrew and Nvidia in the past as they tend to get the blame for everything, often from overexcited individuals who 'NEED' this and 'NEED' that.
However, in this case I'm pretty peed off and I think it's pathetic that none of them have given us a straight answer or even bothered to comment.
I mean at the end of the day we spend our time on this forum not just to help ourselves, but to help others and in doing so we are helping Nvidia support their product, for free.

I look forward to the other vendors catching up with their stereoscopic implementations, that's all I can say.

You can still make Nvidia 3D Vision work with a generic CRT by using the inf from something that is whitelisted. Personally I use the EDID from that one acer monitor and it works fine. Been doing that for years. They cannot block this.

But I agree that Nvidia is trying to screw us again, just like always. And Andrew's silence on this matter is unforgivable.

I regret now that I bought the 3D Vision kit and I regret that I put faith in Andrew to help us.

Any idea when are the new WHQL drivers coming out? Need to check if this is permanent or just for the beta drivers. I've put SLI plans on hold coz I lost all of the 3d capabilities when I updated to beta drivers.

I've tried using an EDID override based on a 3D Vision Ready monitor for my S27A950D, but it doesn't work very well, I had some blacks screens, blue screens and games like BF3 would not work in 3D, just 2D. This is not a very good solution, it may work with some games but it doesn't work with others unfortuntaley.

I've tried my Samsung S27A905D + 3D Vision using drivers 285.62 and Generic CRT mode and I had the best 3D gaming experince I've ever had. S27A950D had a very bright 3D and it's almost 100% free of ghsoting, I'm serious the ghosting level in this monitor is quite good. Samsung works wonderfully with 3D Vision + Generic CRT mode. Now that Nvidia has ditched this mode, I'm stuck with drivers 285.62

Please Nvidia, give us back Generic CRT Mode in the new WHQL driver. I'm still using Nvidia Geforce cards and 3D Vision emitter, what's the matter about using Samsung monitor If I still have to own the 3DV kit to have 3D Vision support, I;m still supporting your products, It's not my fault that Acer and Asus solutions are far inferior to Samsung, why there aren't any glossy screens 3D Vision Ready displays??? That's why I bought Samsung, most beautiful 3D I've ever seen.

Let's not discuss workarounds here, I totally agree, and reading these threads is what made them removing CRT mode.

Hi All

Sorry if you thought I was ignoring this or the forum in general, I just havent been checking lately as I have been really busy.

NVIDIA 3D Vision was designed to work with 3D Vision monitors, projectors and DLPs. For a while we did have CRT mode in the driver for legacy users. Any user who has a CRT, feel free to PM me and I can work on support.

I understand some people who are modifying our drivers to make unsupported products work are upset by this and I apologize at your frustration, but we do not support unsupported products.

If you do have questions, please ask.

Hi Andrew glad you are well and addressing this issue. While I don't use CRT support and understand Nvidia's position on the issue, I hate to see supported features removed for any reason as its a bad precedent and anti-progress.

That said, quoted portion is great news, whatcha been working on? (Kepler, Mass Effect 3 3D, Diablo 3, what else?) /thumbup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Hey Andrew,

What do you about modifying your drivers???? Nothing has never been modifyed in the driverds, Generic CRT mode was a feature in the Nvidia drivers for quite some time and no one needed to modify a driver to have access for that. I don't undertstand why you have taken this feature away from loyal 3D Vision users.

I use Generic CRT mode to play games using my Samsung C7000 3DTV. My TV supports Frame sequential mode, and I can play games in 3D 1080p60hz = 30hz per eye, 30fps. Its much better than 3DTV Play and 1080p24hz or 720p60hz. My TV also supports Checkerboard mode and sometimes I use DLP Generic mode to play games in 1080p60hz = 60fps.

I have a 3D Vision kit + 2 GTX 480 in SLI and have been a loyal Nvidia user for a ong time, I don't think it's fare you guys have ditched Generic CRT mode just because it's a workaround for other unsupported products. I'm still using a 3DV kit and I always use it, so I don't undertstand this move you guys made???

I would like to play games in Generic CRT mode using my TV, I really miss that feature and for that reason I'm stuck with drivers 285.62.

Can you work on Generic CRT mode support for my C7000 Samsung Plasma TV??? MY TV is not an unsuported product is it???
