Interesting, no idea why it doesn't work for you. I get the blue ghosting without syncing them with the monitor first. I do seem to have to do this procedure on every windows start/restart. I'll post the 3d fix manager settings and driver version in a bit. I suspect it might have to do something with some of the settings in the app.

Thx. Using nearly the same settings but "Preferred 3d format:" is not checked for me. Not sure if that matters. It just enables the custom sBs shader of 3dmigoto which just outputs the default frame sequential format then.
Are you using HDMI 1 or HDMI 4k port? I've tested on HDMI 1. Did you change some timings via CRU?
I will retry now if I can make it work somehow.

Awesome work with your FAQ!
Im saving Money to buy this screen:

A good Friend has this screen now 18 Months and it truly is worth every Cent.
It "upgrades" your existing Beamer so that you may think you have a new Beamer or the next higher class!
Im also looking for an new Beamer with 3D 1080p 120hz support AND support of my 3D Blu-Ray Player!?!
Any recommendations?
THANKS!

I didn't know that screen yet. Is there a shop in Germany to have a look at the screen in action? And how does it perform compared to Cinegrey 5D? I had the chance to have a look at the Cinegrey5D in action on a local store and it is superior to my diffuse white screen. I just had bad luck to get a bad one from USA.
Optoma UHD51 supports Bluray 3D and 1080p @120hz but no one could make it work properly with 3D Vision.

This is really interesting as I've been trying to get 3d vision working on a BenQ TK800. I've literally spent hours experimenting but I've never thought to try to activate 3d on the monitor first then switch to the projector.
Have you actually played games this way for a significant length of time? I ask because I can easily activate the 3d vision glasses with my projector, but there is a serious sync drift issue. Everything looks fine to start with apart from a tiny bit of blue ghosting, but then over time the glasses drift out of sync with the emitter/display.
I'm not really sure how activating the 3d on the monitor first would help address this issue, but I'll give it a go too.

I tried over and over again tonight xD. It just doesn't work for me. Nvidia IR emitter is still not syncing correctly. Sometimes it's close to be in perfect sync but still 20% ghosting visible which is unacceptable. Then I rather prefer to stick to the DLP glasses.
I also played a lot with the timings of the 1920x1080@120hz resolution in CRU. I tried different refresh rates / pixel clocks / back porch / front porch / blanking... I wrote down every setting in a txt file and its result. And indeed when I changed a value I had green ghosting instead of blue. But when I tried to recreate it after rebooting or switching off the projector things are completely screwed up again. It's more or less random if it works. Sometimes it is like on rustyk21's projector that the emitter periodically has sync and then it's gone again. And randomly after rebooting windows I suddenly have a stable sync but still ghosting is visible. It's just a waste of time... Only DLP sync works.

When these projectors are running, do you get a white/red pulse or anything to trigger off of? It doesn't look like they support the usual sync port, but maybe there is something else that would be a trigger.
If you can figure out a trigger signal, it would be pretty simple* to make that trigger the NVidia emitter, using it's sync-in port on the back. That would get glasses and projector in sync.
*where 'simple' is of course not a slam-dunk, but generating a correct pulse with some simple electronics should not be super difficult. You could also have a 555 type timer just generate a pulse that you tune manually, but it will drift out of sync.

Yeah I finished the last two crysis 3 missions (pure epicness with the fix) with the 3d vision 2 glasses and the projector with no issues.
Paul - no I have not changed anything with cru, I'm using the default windows settings for this. I could upload the cru extracted file if you'd like. Also yes, I'm using the 4k hdmi port on the projector hooked up to the hdmi port on the gpu. The monitor is connected as well via dual link dvi.

AFAIK, that Vesa connector input is disabled unless it sees that a certified Mitsubishi DLP 3DHD TV is connected.
If you use an EDID from a Mitsubishi DLP 3DHD TV, you get a nag overlay complaining that it is not connected.
roller11 made an external sync generator that duped this nag overlay into thinking it was connected for his rollermod(dlp inf)
That way he could use his Samsung Plasma Checkerboard mode with the manufacturer glasses, prior to Nvidia relenting and adding Checkerboard to 3DTV play.
If only every manufacturer would add this kind of support to their display, things would be so much better

Ignore the circle, it was put there by another user that I liberated the image from, it was a 2011 or older TV

I know that in old days, prior to HDMI 1.4 and it's automatic display flags for 3D, a line code would be inserted between frames to sync an emitter.
I think one was "blue line code" and there was a second I believe. It's been a long time, I read about it when I was going to buy a VGA dongle that was for E-Dimensional glasses.
BTW, the thread where Roller11 introduced his EDID

The comments on blu-ray not working, are meant only for blu-ray players that are directly connected to the beamer, correct?
I suppose blu-ray usb drives that are hooked to the pc -> beamer would work, can anyone confirm?

No Full HD 3D. To the dismay of 3D fans, many of the new lower priced 4K projectors lack Full HD 3D capability, and this is one of them. This projector will do PC-ready 3D, but not 3D from a Blu-ray player. If you are budgeting below $2000, your 3D + 4K options at the moment are the BenQ HT2550 at $1499 and the Epson Home Cinema 4000 at $1799.

Regular and 4k hdr blurays will work from a bluray player, however 3d blurays will not from a bluray player since the UHD40/50 projector only supports pc 3d (frame sequential 120hz/1080p).
For 3d blurays you will need a bluray pc reader and software to read the bluray.
You can use the full version of Power DVD to read a 3d bluray out of the box or stereoscopic player with some tweaks, there might be other options out there as well. In order to get it working with stereoscopic player you need to remove the read bluray restrictions to actually load the file in stereoscopic player. You can do that with "RedFox AnyDVD HD" to remove the bluray restrictions and then load up the ssif file in stereoscopic player - I can confirm this is working.

None that i know of, most use ps4 for blu-ray's which also uses frame packing afaik.
I will try with a ps4 but it is not really comparable to blu-ray players is it?

I think one was "blue line code" and there was a second I believe. It's been a long time, I read about it when I was going to buy a VGA dongle that was for E-Dimensional glasses.

I suppose blu-ray usb drives that are hooked to the pc -> beamer would work, can anyone confirm?
edit: thanks @ D-Man11 for noticing

Regular and 4k hdr blurays will work from a bluray player, however 3d blurays will not from a bluray player since the UHD40/50 projector only supports pc 3d (frame sequential 120hz/1080p).
For 3d blurays you will need a bluray pc reader and software to read the bluray.
You can use the full version of Power DVD to read a 3d bluray out of the box or stereoscopic player with some tweaks, there might be other options out there as well. In order to get it working with stereoscopic player you need to remove the read bluray restrictions to actually load the file in stereoscopic player. You can do that with "RedFox AnyDVD HD" to remove the bluray restrictions and then load up the ssif file in stereoscopic player - I can confirm this is working.

thx! @ CyberOZZ & Vas22
I have a pc <-> beamer + powerdvd setup so can't verify regarding external bluray player, otherwise i am up for testing it should arrive today :)
None that i know of, most use ps4 for blu-ray's which also uses frame packing afaik.
I will try with a ps4 but it is not really comparable to blu-ray players is it?
