Almost. You may also wish to go to \Steam\steamapps\common\Metro Last Light\legal.ogv and rename it to .bak - to remove the intro logos.

Thanks for the info! Do you think I should be able to run this one quite nicely in 3D with a couple of settings turned down a bit?
Thanks for the info! Do you think I should be able to run this one quite nicely in 3D with a couple of settings turned down a bit?
Here's a pretty comprehensive tweak guide from NVidia, that gives you a good idea of how you will fare, and what they recommend for settings:
http://www.geforce.com/whats-new/articles/metro-last-light-graphics-breakdown-and-performance-guide
In your case, they are recommending Very High, PhysX On, but Tesselation off.
It's also likely worth updating to the latest beta driver, it reportedly helps Last Light by 10%.
Thought I had to wait till 17th to play in Aus, but got a nice surprise today and realised that it works. I've played a couple of hours so far, and so far it's AMAZING. Absolutely gorgeous, and 3D is near-flawless so far. I personally don't feel the need to tweak convergence settings.
It should be noted that if anyone buys this with the expectation that it will run well in 3d on anything below SLI 660s, they're going to have a bad time, You may be able to minimise every graphics setting and achieve something reasonably playable, but this game is a performance hog (even on the latest beta drivers). It also lacks much in the way of graphics settings, you have:
Overall: Low, Medium, High
AA: On/Off
AF: 4x/16x
Tessellation: Off/Normal/High
Physix: On/Off
That's it. No texture detail, no FOV options to be found (even in config files), none of the usual "advanced" stuff.
True. Though neither of those things (performance hog and limited graphics settings) should come as a surprise to anyone who played 2033, as they were the same then.
I was totally expecting this to bring my PC to its knees. To the point that I bought twin Titans a month ago primarily in anticipation of this game. Even so, I actually was pessimistic about getting consistent 60fps (which so far I am, which came as a nice surprise)
And the graphics settings are very similar to those in 2033. Actually, they're slightly less limited this time around.
People complained about the FOV with 2033, but I always found it fine. I believe it's mainly an aesthetic choice by the developers, to aid the constricted feel of the game.

Well I played for about an hour and the game is very very good indeed. If you liked the first one, you'll love this one as well and even if you didn't like the first one that much, there's a chance you'll like this one much better. The game play and especially the shooting is much more refined and fluid and not as "clunky" as in the first one (which to me was still fine though). The graphics are excellent and it's definitely one of the best looking games out there. I have almost every setting at max @ 1080p (Advanced PhysX on, Tesselation at max, Graphics quality at max, AF at 16X) the only things I turned down were SSAA, which is off (haven't seen almost any jaggies even with AA off) and motion blur is on low. Haven't had any program to monitor the fps but so far everything seems very smooth. The 3D is just absolutely excellent and with the settings for the Chiri's nvapi which Pirateguybrush posted, even the game play is flawless in 3D and convergence is unlocked. This is one of the best examples of how to make a proper 3D Vision title and I hope it will be shown to many people in 3D so they could finally realize how amazing it can be in gaming when done properly.

Graphics look great and its performing well for me, however I can't run it twice for some reason. Runs fine first time, but thereafter, any second attempt crashes/hangs on loading screen. Have to reboot to play again. Very wierd.
Tried it in dx9, but shadows / lighting seem a bit off whereas dx11 looks perfect.

I've always loved Metro for the sense of immersion you get from all the different hand animations, and it still does a great job of that. There was a time when crawling out of a pipe that you look out it, upside down, and I literally got that uneasy feeling.
There's one thing that really bothers me, besides the 2D cutscenes, though, when I first noticed I had a shadow, I immediately looked down to see if I had feet, to see if there was total body awareness and that's when it hit me ... you have a shadow, complete with feet but no body, like a ghost with a shadow.
From what I played it's really good in 3D, it just has to be treated like you're up really really high ... whatever you do just don't look down. :D
@BazzaLB I had it hang once but then ran fine every time after, I'm still not running the latest drivers though.

I posted some screenshots. I'm using the Helix mod which unlocked convergence settings. Once you can mess with convergence, it looks just as good as Metro 2033, imo.
Gameplay-wise it's way more streamlined - can't quite tell if that's a benefit at this point.

To be clear everyone this is a tool by Chiri https://forums.geforce.com/member/1860958/. Not helixmod, I offered to host his files to him cause I figured it would be helpful and let more people know to use it.

Metro's engine tends to dislike secondary monitors when it's running on a single monitor.

Hey, just popping in to ask you guys about your 3D experiences. I've been playing on very high in DX11. You guys getting any weird reflections or is that just me? Eqzitara said there was a problem with the flares back at the Helix mod page but nobody else seems to be acknowledging these issues. It's nearly unplayable in 3D for me.

Are you sure you are running DX11? I definately got wierd reflections under dx9, but obviously then didn't have options for tesselation visible (easiest way to tell if you are running dx11 or not, apart from looking at user.cfg). dx11 seemed to looked pretty good though

I havent really played too much[like intro]. My fps is lower then expected so I am trying to figure it out. I just saw pictures on 3d vision live. http://photos.3dvisionlive.com/bo3bber/image/519209655ec346bc1c000137/
It sounds like yours is drastically different then everyone else though. Unless your playing on much higher convergence setting then rest. Update your driver to newest one and click custom / do clean install. Sometimes 3d vision doesnt install properly, I just had someone today say borderlands 2 was broke cause he has the broken profile issue. I've had like 5 people say that with borderlands 2 alone and solution is always the same. [Scared the piss out of me cause game had an update today]
If its still bad take a picture, alt-f1 in game.

True. Though neither of those things (performance hog and limited graphics settings) should come as a surprise to anyone who played 2033, as they were the same then.
