I don't see it as trolling and as much as I am intrested in international relations and find it very interesting to hear about the position from US citizens regarding TPP, TTIP or other free trade agreements, I prefer reading on this forum information about 3D vision. Back to the topic, the EVGA Titan X SC is at the moment completely sold out in Europe. What a shame and actually a gread indicator that a lot of gamers are willing to go down the road the extra mile for a very powerful GPU. or they simply did not deliver enough in Europe. On the other hand this allows me to get my backlog games done, where 12VRAM are not required. ;)

What happened to this thread? Hahahahaha I just installed the 350.05 hotfix driver and it seems to have fixed the convergence problems I was experiencing in 3D Vision Ready games like Metro and Batman in 3D Vision Surround. Problem is that the USB emitter still turns off and gives me blue screens, but I think that is to be expected as the 3D Vision Controller driver in the 350.05 package is still 347.09 but the 3D Vision driver is 350.05. I am getting another Titan X this week, so I will attempt to try 3DVS again in SLI when I install it.

I added a 2nd GTX TITAN X over the weekend, and now all my issues with the USB emitter have gone away. So it would seem like its running 3D Vision Surround on a single card that is causing my problem here. In SLI/Surround the emitter stays on, and no BSODs related to it happen. Oh well, since this is the setup that I will be sticking with, I will consider this resolved for now, but I will remember this if I ever decide to go back to a single card setup.

Played heavily mod'ed Skyrim all weekend in 3D with DSR set to 4K resolution (1080p monitor) silky smooth in SLI, for the record.

do you guys think it would be stupid to buy a Titan X for my projector set up running 1280 x 720 resolution? I am thinking of this as a single card solution, I currently have a single 780 and it obviously struggles to maintain consistent fps. another reason I am thinking of the titan x is it supports the 350.12 driver which is working great in most of my current titles, even older ones. I release this could be overkill but am at the point where i am willing to put some cash down, not upgraded for years and really want decent 3D vision performance. the 980 ti sounds great but i need to be able to use that 350 driver, sounds crazy but I want to be able to play my current games without waiting 6 months for a decent driver!

I am using a single-Titan X for 1080p 3D Vision Surround and I am quite happy with it. A Titan X for your scenario (720p 3D, single display) would definitely be overkill. A GTX 980 should fit all your needs!

Titan X would be very much overkill at 1280x720, but it would allow you other options in the future if you wanted something like the ROG Swift or an ultrawide monitor, or were thinking about VR. If you can't see yourself gaming at any resolution over 1280x720 you would just be wasting a lot of money if you got a Titan X.

^ Thanks guys. yep its a difficult one, I could see myself using the higher resolutions where 3D is not feasible, but generally I will be using 720p on the projector, and am definately looking for a single card solution. the thing i would worry about at the moment is paying a massive amount on a titan and seeing no gains because a game is cup bound, such as skyrim which isn't playing too well on my 780.

@Ritchski: This is funny, because I was thinking the same thing. The extra drivers available make it much more interesting than 980ti. I'm also getting really frustrated with NVidia shipping broken drivers, and we can expect at least another 6 months of jacking around. I also play at 720p on projector, and have used SLI the entire time. It's getting to the point that SLI is just broken though, which is why I'm looking too. What do you think of a single 980? Lots of drivers to choose from, not punishingly expensive. Should in theory run everything at full speed.

Definitely sufficient! Not long ago I was still using my GTX-690 (bought it back in 2012) with my HMZ-T3 (also 720p). Even when I additionally got my 3D Vision Surround Setup 4 month ago I started with the 690 and it was ok at least. Because of the current SLI-situation I then switched to a single GTX-980 which worked really well even for 3D Vision Surround (not everything maxed of course). Well, because of 3D Vision Surround I upgraded to the Titan X later but that step would never have been necessary nor would it have made any sense for my 720p HMZ-T3 alone. So I strongly recommend to save some MAJOR money which would be WASTED otherwise! Provided that we are talking 720p 3D exclusively here you would be very very happy with a GTX-980 and no I doubt you would get any happier with a Titan X in this scenario! Additionally you will have access to even more drivers ;-)

@ bo3b, lohan thanks for the feedback :-) yeah I like the idea of having access with older drivers with a card powerful enough to run 720p 3D, I just had a feeling the 980 wasn't much of a leap from the 780? will look into it. but saying that I am not sure a massive leap is needed, the 780 is almost there it just struggles in games like witcher 2 and a few other titles to maintain 60fps, it dips to the 40s and 50s often. I am a bit of a fussy one with frame rates, I will cut down graphical detail in favour of it, even aa. I think i will scrap the titan x idea lol and see if I can try out or get hold of a cheap 980.

I think we'd both be pretty happy with a cheapish 980. Here is one of the best comparison sites I know, AnandTech Bench: http://www.anandtech.com/bench/product/1493?vs=1442 This is 780 vs. 980. And you can see it's a hell of a good bump. I use the 1440p benchmarks as a very rough proxy of what I expect a 3D system to run. (since it's all 2D benchmarks.)
