Upcoming 3D Vision Driver Releaes A Gude to drivers coming in December 2009
1 / 3
Hi All,
I know I still owe a response to the weekly questions that I said I would post, but I wanted to proactively communicate to users on drivers coming in December, so there is no confusion:
CD v1.17 ASUS (3D Vision/GeForce driver v195.62)

This is a driver only for ASUS Laptops. It is an updated WHQL kit from the factory image.

I recommend any ASUS laptop user who wants to play recent games - Borderlands, Batman, Avatar, etc - to upate to this driver kit.

There will be a new entry into the driver download section for 3D Vision specifically labeled as ASUS Laptop CD kit

I expect this relesae to be posted this week.
.
CD v1.18 (3D Vision/GeForce driver v195.66)

This is a driver update for 195.66, which adds support for the Acer 1920x1080 120 Hz 3D monitor only. There are no other changes to this release.

This will be the main driver that we recommend to all 3D Vision users from the driver download selection page on NVIDIA.com

I expect this relesae to be posted this week.
CD v1.19 (3D Vision/GeForce driver v195.81)

This is a driver update which fixes Samsung DLP and CRT support which was a bug. There are no other changes in this relesae and it should be noted, this driver does NOT support the Acer displays. The next driver CD release will merge the Acer support and the DLP/CRT fixes.

This is a matching driver for the GeForce driver v195.81 BETA which was released today.

You must install this driver to get the Samsung DLP and CRT support. If you just install the GeForce driver, you will not have 3D Vision support.

I expect this relesae to be posted this in the next 1-2 days.

I hear that, but for some reason Acer America seems completely clueless on the unit, at least for consumers to get info from. Appreciate any effort you put into getting answers for that. Didn't mean to hi-jack the thread! /pirate.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':pirate:' />

If you want to get a taste of the 195.81 DLP /CRT 3D goodness now:
Install 195.81 package. After this install the 3D Steriocopic driver from 1.15, it will warn that it is incorrect for the new driver, click OK, it will then suprisingly install the older driver but request you to overwrite the newer files in 195.81 many times but then complete. For me after this when starting the 3D test application it failed twice (no hard lock or BSOD) then WORKED!!!. At least in DAO and RE5 the result of 195.81 plus 1.15 Stereoscopic partially overwriting its successor is a very clear improvement over the 1.15 package.
I notified Nvidia of this solution about an hour before Andrew's annoncement but this probably had nothing to do with the announcemnt. However, the above solution does appear to fix the current 195.81 problem and give a great result.

Andrew this driver will not fix the setup wizard crashing, the DLP not being detected at the end of the wizard is one thing this driver will fix.
Mine crashes the second I run the wizard not allowing me to enable or force enable the 3D since July of 2009, I can not just buy a new 3D DLP as this worked from the 1st driver till June.
After July I get crazy errors and cant not even use the product unless i go back to drivers from the 1st 6 months of release

Please try the 195.81 release when it comes out later this week. Plesae see if that your crash bug was actually a false detection of your DLP.

I believe this is the cause of my error after spending over 8 hours trying fresh formats with Vista and 7. I will try and then update you.

Im just glad to see that NVIDIA are actively resolving these issues, and moving forward, and I'm sure everyone else is too.
BTW, have we set some kind of record for the most drivers with the same name ever (195). I believe after these 3 new drivers are released there will have been 6 all up (i think one got deleted from the driver download page?)
Anyway, hopefully all this stuff works, and I seriously can't wait for the new Acer 120Hz monitors :D

Hi Andrew, just wondering if this new update will help us CRT users change/override the standard 85hz "Generic" refresh rate? Vista was working fine with the refresh-rate patcher, Windows 7 + Nvidia's new drivers, stuck at 85hz max, 1024 x 768. It's becoming taxing on the eyes, and my monitor (Philips 109B5) can easily put out 100 - 120 hz at this resolution, even though Philips has no new drivers available past Windows XP.

Please try the 195.81 release when it comes out later this week. Plesae see if that your crash bug was actually a false detection of your DLP.
