Watch 3D blu-rays on PC with nvidia 3D Vision?
Okay I know this might already has been asked a few times. But I just want to get sure. Cause I can't find a detailed "How to" anywhere... My researches resulted in the following facts I just want to get sure that I got that correct: - I need a Blu-ray Player drive for my PC (no matter what kind of) - I need a special Blu-ray Player Software like PowerDVD 11 or TotalMedia Theatre - It is only possible over HDMI (I am not quite sure about that point) - I need of course 3d Vision Kit and 3D Monitor (which I have and use for 3D games) So are my informations correct or did I got something wrong? I am especialy interested if I need HDMI or if I could also use display port. I read somewhere, that because of copyright issues (or something like that) it is only possible via HDMI 1.4(that would suck). I just want to know that before I waste my money on stuff that doesn't work. I wanted to buy a Blu-ray drive anyway, but I am just curious if I can watch 3D blu-rays too.

Definitely - Yes. I bought PowerDVD a few years ago (v9 I think, but it gradually upgraded to v12 when it was no longer supported) - No. I use the DVI port to connect to my monitor - this might be dependent on graphics card - I have a GTX 970 - Yes. Hope this helps. Enjoy, TheBrownDragon

I rip my blu rays with MakeMKV and then use stereoscopic player with the Nvidia license for unlimited play time. There's a guide for that around here. I'm on my phone so searching is hard. I once tried to use 3Dmigoto with media player classic, because MPC has an exclusive fullscreen mode that triggers 3D Vision. All I got were crashes :p.

MakeMKV doesn't alter video, audio or subtitles in any way, because it just puts them into an MKV file. But I don't remember if I had to treat the movie in stereoscopic player as frame sequential or sbs. I would have to rip it again and I don't have enough space anywhere. I think it was full resolution for each eye.

It is full resolution. I already made lots of "rips" (there is no downgrade in the case of Makemkv, not like others) from blurays. You can check easily with Mediainfo if you see 2*1080p (left & right).
