Alan Wake PC 3D Vision is supported

I won't have any time to play until the morning. I stayed up too long waiting for this download to finish. What a disappointment. I wonder if I can get a refund since they falsely advertise working 3D on this game. Straight from their FAQ - "We have internally tested that the game works with NVISION 3D very nicely."

Ouch, sorry to hear guys. I followed the FAQ link in the forums and found this: http://forum.alanwake.com/showthread.php?t=7770
FAQ says:
Will Alan Wake PC support Stereoscopic 3D?
We have internally tested that the game works with NVISION 3D very nicely. It is fairly performance heavy though so a high end GPU such as the GeForce 580GTX and moderate graphics settings are recommended.

Remedy says:
Stereoscopic 3D
Remedy has only tested the game on NVISION2 3D. To run smoothly we recommend a fast graphics card. We also recommend setting 3-5 bars of stereo separation for best experience.* Remedy has not been able to test/confirm if we run on AMD HD3D.
3-5 bars lol...that's like 15-20% depth before the 2D starts breaking. Ouch. /blarg.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':/' />

For those that waited 5 years for the game and really want it, its only $20 on GreenManGaming (Steam activated, legit): http://www.greenmangaming.com/promo/awake/

I kinda hit the snooze button after hearing about this game every time DX10 was mentioned 5 years ago, only to have it go 360 exclusive.

3dvision support my as*, the game is not even close to being 3d-ready.
@Majorgamer it doesn't look good even at 15-20%.
/thanks.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':thanks:' /> to the people, who'll make it work with Helix' tool, but until then back to Skyrim.

OFC it is..3-5 bars out of 100:)) that makes it 3-5% out of 100% 3D Vision Ready;))) Still if we stick with default 15% its ok...the depth however ...is another problem... I remember the Witcher 2 was 3D Vision ready and they decided to lock the depth:))))) :P

You should have 10mb of free storage (i think) to upload files using the "attachments" function below the text window. I'm sure we'd all appreciate some pics.

This forum allows you to insert JPS pictures as Libertine stated, if you want to use another like imgshack or skydrive you can but you need to rename them to JPG first. Then the viewer needs to download them again and rename them back to JPS. Its annoying and overly tedious, so its easier to just use the attachment function here which allows users to just open directly without finding/saving.

The better long-term option imo is 3DVisionlive.com so you don't have to constantly work around that 10MB limit, which is good for ~30x stereo JPGs. They're beta testing a new Phereoshop viewer and batch uploader and are taking beta tester apps. I've been using it for a few weeks and its pretty sweet! http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=222149

The Witcher 2 had its share of launch problems, but locked separation wasn't one of them, now locked convergence...yes :). Still the game allowed for ini editing for better settings following one of the many post-release patches.
As for Mr. Wake, I've tested even with minimum separation and still had floating shadows and 2d lights, what Remedy has tested is beyond me. They've probably launched the game with 3dvision on, were amazed by the slight misplacement of layers in the picture ( since no real depth can be achieved at 3-5 bars) and decided to declare that the game supports s-3d. I wonder, since there is no built-in s-3d, how were they even expecting for HD3D to work on its own without the middle-ware, probably through wishful thinking alone.

Two with 100% separation and two with 3 bars, just so that you can see that the s-3d isn't right even with this little amount of depth:

I´ll wait a patch or a solution from S3D community.

Wow.
Ill see if shaders need to be removed*not fixed* I guess with helix tool if noone does it before me(downloading now).

No idea why nvidia does things this way. They go to developers give them a free 3d setup and instruction manual.....Why not just higher a shader programmer like helix.

Just downloaded and tried to play in 2D first to see how it will run. Only 1 of my 2 GTX470 is being fully utilized (was getting 20-30fps, sad). No profile from Nvidia yet and from reading everyones comments here, I am guessing the promised 3D is borked. Nvidia, I usually give you guys the benefit of the doubt but this is getting a bit silly. I need a SLI and 3D vision profile for this game. i waited a long time to play it.
I have to remember not to buy PC games at launch. /wallbash.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':wallbash:' />

Agreed. Thanks again Helix. it is probably a good thing he is not working for Nvidia because then we would have to wait 3x as long to get easy fixes.

As you can see at low settings i'm at 80% on 1 gpu at 1080p in 2d, and have low 35fps, fraps has'nt shown its counter for some reason in the pic, moving around will lock 60fps or show anywhere from 20 to 60fps.
Game runs badly as i said and gpu stays high or max's depending on where your looking.

Notice same scene with sli on and low settings and 2d, still gpu hungry, no way is it playable with 3dvision with decent fps, allso with 1 card in same scene i had 35fps, sli i have 60fps in that scene below.

Obviously if somebody can show me them running fine i'll change my mind but my proof shows a gtx570 at low settings is'nt enough to run this game at 60fps constantly.

My theory is that there is a gfx option that is hogging gpu that needs tobe active in gfx options so it can be enabled or disabled.
