Steam allowing custom tags is potentially interesting if we tag enough.

I wonder if everyone went through their library of games and tagged everything as "Stereo 3D" or "No Stereo 3D" (or some variation everyone agrees on), if we could make tags popular enough to appear on store pages for most games. Certainly would make things convenient for some of the more obscure titles.
EDIT: It was decided to use 3D Vision as the tag. This is for any game that you like stock or with mods. So if you wanna help the cause, just go through and tag everything you like with "3D Vision".

Great idea!
Let's all use tags, to create exposure about 3D.
Let's agree on the exact terms, and only after agreement, let's only use the agreed upon terms on Steam.
To keep tags it short, I suggest:
"3D-ready" (for games working out of teh box, or fixed by developper patches)
"3D-bad" (you know, most of them :-))
"3D-fixed"(for games fixed by community. People will know how to search teh web and reach Helixblog :-))

It appears you can also browse by tags (at least if popular enough?) So come big sales, we could simply type in the agreed upon tag, and we could see everything the community deemed worthy and what it was on sale for.

I'd say something that denotes 3D Vision, as there's TriDef as well ... something like 3DVision, 3D Vision, or 3DV ... 3D Vision Ready / 3DVisionReady / 3DVReady / 3DVision(Ready).
Personally I like:
3DVisionBroken/Fixed or 3DVisionHelixMod/3DVisionHelixReady
3DVisionReady, 3DVisionFaked or 3DVisionLies! .. Lol. :)
Is there anyway to search the tags? Can it do a partial match? eg. Search for 3D would bring up all of them ... although I'm sure someone's going to tag all 'polygonal' games 3D and 'sprite' games 2D ... as there's already a 2D tag going.

Good point TsaebehT, I had not seen 2D tag yet, but in this case we definitely need to differentiate between 2D, 3D, Nvidia's Stereovision, Tridef Stereovision, and most probably VR/OR stereovision, in the future.
Then we cannot keep it too short, but no matter (I've just seen people tagging games like Desperados as "Commandos style"). As long as it makes it clear, it's fine. And of course, like you say, here's hoping there will be a "partial" type of search, otherwise it will be less interesting.
So I propose:
3DVision Ready
3DVision Broken
3DVision Fixed - or maybe "Community fixed" but it's longer (I would have preferred "Helix" but maybe we need to find a general term, in case other wrappers appear, I don't know. It would also make sense to honor Helix by using his name by making it mean "community fix" since there is no other person who contributed even remotely as much as him. Up for debate)

Multiple tags could be applied so how about
3DVision Ready
3DVision Broken
3DVision Fixed
and separately we could add tags that honor the fixers.. so tags like
Helix
Eqzitara
etc..

Ready, Broken, Fixed seems pretty good.
I'd suggest differentiating the Broken one though. Something like 3DVision-Broken or 3DVisionBroken. Just so if we type 3DVision into a tag search during a sale, it'll only show the 3DVision Ready and Fixed items and ignore 3DVisionBroken.
Or whatever gets a partial search to only show the 3DVision Ready and Fixed while ignoring Broken.
EDIT: I guess it wouldn't kill anyone to just perform two searches to show those categories, but it'd kind of be nice for the lazy and partial searches.

Still doesn't let anyone that doesn't know how it was fixed know how it was fixed 3DVisionHelixMod(3D Vision Helix Mod), 3DVision3DMigoto, 3DVisionProjectFlugan would, ... and maybe something for the games that could use Dev support, something like 3DVisionSupportRequested/Required.

It remains to be seen how many store pages we can even get onto. At this point, I think we should just assume we won't make the front page and aim for easy tag searching. Hopefully we get onto some. Or they eventually implement the custom stores that make this easier (and work off of tags).
P.S. 3DVision automatically gets posted as 3D Vision. It auto inserts a space.

Paul,
It doesn't matter if we make the front page, but if we do it often enough the tags may stay linked to the game. It's enough for me if I can search by "3D Vision Ready" or "3D Vision Fixed" and get the results. Or maybe I did not understand your comment.
TsaebehT,
I was thinking it was worth keping the tags short. Plus, once you get results with "3D Vision Fixed", does it really matter who did the fix? Would it be so difficult to google "Game name 3D fix" ?
Unless you meant it as a motivation/incentive/bragging rights for the fixers, in which case I agree, but then every fixer will have to be acknowledged individually, alongside the wrapper used. Can all people, even our forum dwellers, be expected to be consistent and accurate all the time? And do we want it in the main "3D" tag or a separate one, as GrayMatter suggested?
The "Support requested" idea is nice, if developers would give a damn about some Steam tags more than they give a damn about their own forums.
But of course, these are just ideas. For me personally it's less important what the tag names will be, as long as we all use the same for the agreed categories.
Realistically speaking, with the scarcity of 3D-ready games, and the frequency with which we haunt these forums, we would learn about any 3D-ready games or fixed ones right here, in the comunity.
But in the future, and maybe for people new to 3D, it would be incredibly cool to be able to already see this on the Steam marketplace.
Let's see what people are thinking, let this simmer a little, then go to work together, tagging the crap out of those games. As soon as we agree on the "3D-ready" and "3D-fixed" tags I'll tag everything in my library accordingly.

Agreed. I meant what you said. I think having the tags associated to searches is what's important. The rest is out of our control and we'll just have to be happy with whatever else happens.

Not sure if will actually be used or anything but I agree with..
3DVision Ready
3DVision Broken
3DVision Fixed
If people are too lazy to google when it says 3dvision fixed thats on them. Don't over complicate it and stick to like 3 tags imo.

Any tags with helix / helixmod / eqzitara / whatever doesn't work because then they would have to know of site to matter and they could just as easily check it.

The king has spoken, we're settled then.
:-)
Joke aside, just confirming what Paul said, "3DVision" will be automatically converted to "3D Vision"
I've already tagged started tagging all the (very few) 3D ready Games such as Tomb Raider as "3D Vision Ready" and all the very well known AAA games such as Skyrim or Fallout 3 as "3D Vision fixed".
Don't know if it will come to any good, seeing that people already started the usual internet silliness, with fake, contradictory or vulgar tags, just to have their fun. And I doubt Valve can police or curate the tags. but we'll see.
