I have an acer h5360 and its quite an amazing 3D experience.
The games have a ton of depth but little pop out. i got my first 3D Bluray yesterday and again the depth was amazing but you could see scenes where they were trying pop out but it wasnt that impressive.
I play on a 130" screen and would expect to see considerable pop out but things pop out about 1 foot from the screen (hich is about 10 foot away from me)
On the same screen but with with a non 3d projector i watched a few films in analyph 3D and the pop out on those was insane. stuff was jumping out to about in front of my face (so jumping out by a good 5-8 foot!) the tenticles at the begining of journey to the center of the earth for example - these felt like they were practically touching you and jumpred out the entire length of the room!
Im just wondering whether anyone else experiences this and if theres anything you can do about it.
Dont get me wrong, i love depth in games and think that the best films use a more subtle 3D which mostly involves depth, but for things to impress you really are looking for pop out.

For 3D Blu-ray there is nothing about the display device whatsoever that could effect the level of pop-out. The disc is encoded with 2 images. The 2 images are seen by one eye only and your brain puts the two together. There are no adjustments as you are seeing it as it was mastered on the disc. There is a "perception" aspect where the greater the contrast the more your brain sees things as 3D...so it is just possible that the limited contrast of the projector is affecting things. BUt that wouldn't really prevent you determining the pop-out effect. Perhaps its just the blu-ray title you tried. I have IMAX Grand Canyon Adventure, and it has some serious popout....some of my friends even find it hard to focus on it because it comes out so far. But either your projector works or it doesn't. There aren't any adjustments.

Dude, Don't know if you know about convergence, but it took me a couple of days of using the same projector, thinking the same thing until i realised i had to enable the advanced keyboard shortcuts in the nVidia Control Panel, this allows you to increase or decrease the convergence. If you like screenshots, then you will love the following: I have recorded videos in 3D for various different games using different levels of convergence. anyway Click Here to see the videos.

Good luck
It is an important setting...but it wouldn't affect 3D blu-rays (or if it did you would be distorting it from its original intention and dropping pixels to each side)

Also you have to unlock depth as the standard setting leaves a lot to be desired . You can go beyond standard max depth with a registry hack, Im using it all the time.

You are not the only one. I see no pop-out either that makes me go WOW. I've seen countless bluray 3d titles already. Could it be the angle we are watching it from? Perhaps the height of the projector screen affecting 3d effects?

so true...in all movies I see depth, depth, depth and no pop outs.
As for the OP I have both an acer monitor and an optoma projector. I use the projector for movies but dont use the monitor for games...I dont like the games in 3D.. I prefer them playing the way I always did.

Cheers!

It is an important setting...but it wouldn't affect 3D blu-rays (or if it did you would be distorting it from its original intention and dropping pixels to each side)

Infact will sell the monitor in the coming days.
