Fallout 3 May of been "Fresh" for most of you in 3d a year ago, but WOW is it great for me
I can't believe how much I'm loving this game in 3d. It is absolutely amazing walking around the Wasteland when you leave Vault 101 and seeing the world in 3d. I turn off the cross hair, found a pretty good convergence level that makes the real world and the pip boy work well in 3d (I wish I could have the Pip Boy work with HIGH convergence and tons of depth like I can in the game world view . . . but I have to back it off some so that when i press tab to bring up the pip it isnt split in 2 - Any ideas on this?), and can't believe how much I'm enjoying this game. I've never played it and am only about 2 hours into it. With the 3d effects and difficulty on hard with no crosshair it is so dang immersive and impressive. I am thinking about it even when I'm not at home.

Anyone have any fun thoughts or plans about this game or ways to play it to make it even more enjoyable? Did you all like it in 3d? Please no spoilers as I'm not far into it.

One thing that really made the game more fun for me, which you may have already done, but making sure I had loaded every piece of downloadable content for the game before I began.

Hello mate.

I too think this game looks amazing in 3D. I am also replaying it. I'm roleplaying my character as a scum bag into guns guns guns!!! What ever you do mate, if you have standard Fallout, dont finish the game until you have to...

Talking about settings:
I have my 3D settings different to you by the sound of it. Obviously crosshair is off and water set to minimum (I think - still looks great though).

BUT

I leave the convergence alone (I see no need for popout in a game like this) and instead up the depth to 100%. I find the difference between approx 95% depth and 100% makes all the difference - I think this maybe to do with how infinity is rendered in stereoscopic vision (95% is not infinity but 100% is if that makes any sence). I have all my FPSs and racers like NFS Shift (sooooo much better than Grid IMO) set at 100%. I also enjoy World in Conflict set to 100%. (Shame about the poxy ingame 2D troop icons - grrrrrr.) In fact WIC was the first game I tried at 100%. It felt funny at first but I couldnt believe the difference the 100% setting made compared to anything less! Literally, one bar below 100% had a lessoning effect.

On the other hand I set 3rd person games like Dragon Age and Torchlight to around 25-40% and enjoy the popout that allows it seems better suited for that type of game.

Have you tried Oblivion in 3D? It looks nearly as good as Fallout3 (no shadows unfortunately though).

Enjoy Fallout 3 mate!

Il give you one maaaasive good piece of advice. The game is so large that you should use your time in the wasteland wisely. By this I mean, do the main quest and 'add-on' stuff. Don't mess around trying to get everything, no matter how awesome it is.

The game will burn you out eventually, and you will walk away having missed some of the most epic crap in video games i have ever seen...

Try Point Lookout in Fallout 3. It's easily the best of the four addons.

Try setting the hadow quality to medium at the advanced settings. It worked for me.
