I haven't followed much on the Rift, but I do recall people mentioning that it would only be compatible with a few games. I don't know why, I never looked into it, but I suppose it must need dual input support?
Anyhow, I randomly came across a post over at Widescreen gaming mentioning that Nthusism has released a program that is available for pre-purchase that reportedly makes your old games compatible with the Rift. If you never heard of Nthusism, they are one of the pricey software options available for warpalization (projection on curved screens). I've no idea how good it is, but it's twenty bucks. (US)

I would assume that it works for 3D, but you'd certainly want to find out if it does or not.

All 3D games either need the developer to support or a modder. It doesnt have its own engine.
Nthusim is 2D gaming. I think a modder who says they are working a 3D renderer said they will include a 2D renderer with it, so it might be premature to buy nthusim regardless.

Yah, I have no idea. I just thought I'd point it out in case it would help anyone.
I've no idea what it does do, but if it offers dual input support, it might help guys with dual passive projection systems?
I was really interested in the oculus rift from day one, but recent news have my interest skyrocketing:

So basically, now all half life 2 based games, mirror edge, skyrim and a few more will work. The big problem with Oculus was game support, but it looks like there's lots of community support which gives a lot of hope for making many more games work. Actually Helix fixes may prove incredibly useful with the oculus, fixing 3d issues while they add VR support on their part.
Skyrim + Half life 2 + cinematic mod + oculus: balls to the wall

All hail 3d modders DHR, MasterOtaku, Losti, Necropants, Helifax, bo3b, mike_ar69, Flugan, DarkStarSword, 4everAwake, 3d4dd and so many more helping to keep the 3d dream alive, find their 3d fixes at http://helixmod.blogspot.com/ Also check my site for spanish VR and mobile gaming news: www.gamermovil.com
I think the Vireio is pretty cool and with it being open source to the community, we are in for some incredible stuff.
The other with gun tracking not so much. I'm not sure if I would be comfortable with the orientation of my body and the risk of knocking sht over.....while the concept is good, I don't know if I'd want to turn it into such a physical experience. Eventhough I'd be immersed in the game, I would not be comfortable in not knowing my external body orientation. I would prefer to be sitting down.
Imagine a game like Dead Space 1/2 in VR.....come to think of it...F..that, I am not playing any Dead Space game VR, I would probably literally sht my pants for real...lol
