3D Vision hardware with XBOX 360 and PS3
  1 / 2
I found the following to get people set up with 3D vision and console gaming with the new Avatar game. I had no idea this was possible. I's surprised it keeps sync the way it does. I know you can just play this game on PC but it's cool to see it work on consoles, no driver BS and I hope some console exclusive games work also. (I do not take credit for this)

This has been tested with both versions of the game.

What you need to do is first make sure your tv is compatible check the list samsung and mitsubishi DLP's made in the last 3 years are likly to have 3D ready.

1. Go into the menu and TURN ON the 3D option in the TV Menu for BOTH inputs the PC input and the HDMI you have the XBOX360/PS3 plugged into.

2. Make Sure the 3D Sync Cable is plugged in to the 3D Vision. If your TV doesnt have a 3D Sync Cable output this will most likly NOT work.

3. Turn ON your PC and open up the nvidia Control Panel (Make sure you have the stereo drivers installed already) go down to the steroscopic section and click enable stereoscopic 3D and select the correct TV type if your tv isn't in the list then try Generic DLP if you have a DLP

4. Install Nvidia's 3D Movie Player OR Download the Stereoscopic Player from the internet (make sure to select nvidia Stereo 3D Driver if you use The Stereoscopic Player.

5. Start a Movie or video clip that enables the 3D and either leave it at the menu or set it to repeat, anything that leave the green logo on the ir transmitter bright green.

6. SWITCH INPUTS and TURN ON your XBOX360/PS3 once the game is at the main menu go to the OPTIONS MENU under DISPLAY and ENABLE 3D select FULL CHECKERBOARD or Whatever your TV uses for 3D (Mitsubishi is Full Checkerboard) Apply the settings and start the game (you wont see 3d in the menu so dont freak out if the menu text isnt popping out at you) Once the game starts you should see this game in 3D W000T!

GAME ON in 3D...

I'm so glad it worked i didnt want to have to buy another standalone ir transmitter and more glasses.

P.S. this trick should work with any 3d title in the future, and it might even work for 3D broadcasts who knows Smile

Yeah this is a really cool discovery!! So it means the 360 and Ps3 are capable of
running games in S3D, just needs the hardware.. and S3D game, of course.

Awesome. Once I get/rent the game, I'm going to be wondering if 360/PS3 work equally well, and I need to make sure I can enable 3D for my 360 plugged into the VGA port on a Samsung LED DLP.

it would be cool if there was a way to have the emitter turn on without being connected to a pc...... Anybody?

I tried this with the Invincible Tiger demo for the xbox 360. Instead of the movie player I used 3D Vision Photo viewer. Seems to have worked to some degree. Was still very grainy. Couldn't adjust depth or convergence. It did not make me want to buy the full version plus the fact it's an arcade style game. Hope this works better on Avatar but think I'll just buy the pc version. Would love to be able to use my 360 for this though.

im trying to do this trick on the samsung monitor, but since i am crippled with only one input, 3d vision stops when i go to change the dvi input.

I know i am reaching here, but is there anyway of forcing 3d vision to keep working even if the monitor is not detected?

severely doubt it , its hard enough to get your monitor to go in 3d mode as it is

I just tried this out last night and it works great on my 73" mitsu! I had to change the 3d option to my 360 hdmi port, but wow! convergence and depth were all great. It is awesome! I can't wait for more games.

I would go as far as saying that the 360 version runs so good I would recommend it for the 360 over the pc. The default settings are great and I love earning achievements while playing in stereoscopic 3d. It truly is a no hassle experience, just like I though console 3D would be.

This isn't very good direction. I have 3 HDMI outputs in the back. One is HDMI/DVI(which is the only 3D output). How can you run the 360 and PC in 3D mode at the same time when only one HDMI output is 3D capable.

Can you please go through the setup and steps to make this work?

Thank you

You run the PC in 3D mode - (use the demo video on loop - or run the test 3D from the 3D settings menu that has the green nvidia logo that bounces in and out)

On your tv remote - change the input to your video game input (this allows the PC to continue running the glasses in flicker mode -*green light on the 3d emitter would be on*) while still being on another input to play your xbox or ps3

This is an awesome way to make this work.. I wonder if I could use my laptop to broadcast with the tridef software to the tv while leaving the 3D Vision kit running on another input.. if that works Im going to be REALLY mad :) I just bought a set of tridef hardware.. lol

To be honest, its ridiculous that nvidia do not have an auto flicker button on the receiver and be able to adjust the flicker rate so any 3d tv can be used, or even normal plasma lcd at 60hz, i know that would only mean 30 fps per eye, but still would be nice to have the option to induce a headache atleast to see what the 3d looks like on a big display.

I am quickly going of the 3d, crappy performance in certain games, half frame rate cut, zero customer relations from nvidia.

Who sells a product in a seemingly beta stage then lets us all fend for ourselves regarding it.

Nice when it works, worth the hassle? I am having more doubts by the minute.
