It seems that Beyond Two Souls and Heavy Rain have actually not released yet, but will sometime in June. BTW, any purchase over 14.99 can have an additional $10 taken off the sale price. This can be used once per account. So Detroit Become Human can be had for $19.99 if you use the extra $10 off for it. After learning that it was going to be Vulkan, I grabbed it at Gamestop the other day, lol. But with the API listed as TBD, we can hope that it will be dx11 and work in 3D :P

For all the controversy about the EGS, my biggest complaint (ahead of lack of features) was their stance on no sales. Their annoying practice of buying exclusives meant full price on any game I wanted that they snapped up. So it was great to see they reversed their stance, the sale is actually very good. In addition to sale prices, any game over $15 you automatically get -$10 off. Some 3D fixed exclusives: Ashen 19.99 Close to the Sun 19.99 Metro Exodus 34.99 Also perorders are eligible for the -$10 off too, so if you know you are picking up one of their upcoming exclusives might as well save some money: Sinking City preorder 49.99 Control Borderlands 3 Subnautica below zero 9.99

The sale convinced me join Epic Games today. However, I am having incredible problems with their Game Launcher disappearing (turning black, no content) when I stopped Launcher in the middle of a download. Other environments like Steam or Origin simply pause the download, and resume the download when the game Launcher is restarted. The Epic Game Launcher does not appear to stop correctly. The repair operation does not fix this issue, either. It is only resolved by completely removing the Game Launcher - which also removes all installed games - and re-installing the Launcher. Epic only offers web email support, and they have not responded to 3 messages now...

I bought borderlands 3. Honestly, I have 0 problems with EGS. So many studios go under and Valve is pulling a billion a year PROFIT with a 200 person staff. Sony has STUDIOS bigger then that dedicated to exclusives and they are asking for the same % as valve. Even if it flops hopefully devs will get a better deal.

Agreed - they are committed to a better split with developers and why single them out? We already have Origin, Uplay, Steam, GOG, etc. It's just another portal/app/desktop icon. So, they have exclusives/timed-exclusives? Last I checked... so did everybody else on this list, plus Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo.

He explains in the video exactly why. I don't have a problem with different launchers, or competition. But Epic is not about being a competitor; they want to eliminate Steam altogether, they declared war to Valve and have been very vocal about it. They aren't bringing competition to the table they want to eliminate it and be the only one standing and they have enough cash flow to try to do so. Its not just about exclusivity, they are even paying publishers to pull out games that have been on steam for years so they aren't available anymore but only on their store. You can't buy the Walking Dead games on Steam anymore, for example. As far as them offering a better split to developers depends on how you see it. You are aware you can buy every single game on steam from other store as well without giving one cent to Valve right? this includes buying directly from the publisher themselves where they get to keep 100% of the profit. there are so many stores right now. Fanatical, GMG, humbebundle, even grey market sellers like g2a. I have a lot of games on steam. But I have barely given any money to Valve. Most of my games I have in my library come from Humblebundle, GMG, G2A, ETC. Depends who gives me the better deal. the truth is I dont ever have to use steam to buy a game, and yet I can still use all of their features. I also Use Origin, and Uplay. I can however, tell you who doesn't allow publishers to sell their Keys anywhere else but their store. Wanna hint? Talk about good competition :)

I have absolutely no problem with epic games having their own store and launcher either. At the end of the day it's just more competition as far as I'm concerned. It doesn't seem that long ago that it felt as though Steam was the only game in town and we know how rubbish their sales are compared to what they used to be. *edit* I read what you said sebastatu but Epic on their own aren't big enough to threaten that. It's like everything in business and life anyway, it all goes in cycles.

I just wish that they would have put more than just a little effort into their offerings to me as a user. As I stated, their launcher has been around for a number of years and they are currently offering just a bare minimum of services. Very very bare minimum. It's not like they are some fledgling upstart, struggling to make ends meet. They could have easily afforded the upfront cost needed to have way more features in place. Their site interface, is barely a step above UPlay and Origins garbage interfaces. And the launcher itself sounds like complete garbage.
The sale convinced me join Epic Games today. The problem with the Epic Games Store that people are choosing to ignore is that they have decided to function as a monopoly. Monopolies are never in your interest as a consumer. Their goal is to use their giant warchest to buy their way into monopoly position so that they can earn all sales long term. Study up on TenCent, the corporate owners. People are so used to bad corporate behavior that they now excuse anything, no matter how terrible. They are also completely confused on exclusives to the point where people are arguing that it's competition. It's not, it's monopolistic. The reason it's not competition is because Epic did not make the games. They just have more money than god right now, and can buy people out. The difference between an exclusive by Sony or by Origin/EA is that they created the game. As the author, they are clearly free to do what they wish, including locking it into their lame-ass stores. But Epic? This is just classic corporate greed, where the people who are winning continue to win because they throw up roadblocks using their money. This is absolutely how broken our current systems are, where straight up monopolistic lock-out is considered 'competition'. People make their own decisions for their own reasons, but personally I'm not giving in to a monopoly that makes my life measurably worse.

Epic is acting like they are trying to build a monopoly but Valve/Steam is a monopoly in the same way Amazon is. Everyone wants to sell on amazon because... where else you going to go. You will have to offer your product at breakneak price and put up with there ridiculous policies. You don't like it, sell somewhere else and die a fast death. Valve is by easily as greedy if not more so. Ubistore, Origin only exist because of Valve's greed. They would be more then happy to sell there games on steam for a small fee. They could of destroyed Epic outright by lowering the fees. They choose not to because they have consumer on there side. They are happier to let this go on as long as possible. I really think sooner or later PC gaming at this rate will turn almost completely strictly into online/indie games only. They make much more money on the other platforms that MOST pc gamers own. Piracy is something that will grow and grow because of how each generation have increasing less respect towards content creators and less money as a youth. Steam is also a shithole to a developer where negativity can effect sales across all platforms[Rage 2 as an example]. I dont think Valve is capable of doing anything to abate the situation[drm/fee/etc] because of the pro consumer stance because thats all it has going for them. I really think that if Epic fails that there will be a last ditch deal made where Epic, Ubisoft, EA, [Perhaps blizzard], etc make a unified store and I am willing to bet that it will be even worse situation.

I don't see how Valve is greedy, and Epic is not. Most online platforms charge the same fees, Ie Apple store, Google play store. To me Valve seems like one of the most pro consumer, and Anti monopoly companies out there. This coming from someone who barely buys anything from them. BTW, EA wanted to buy Valve and they couldnt so they got upset and built their own launcher. Its a known thing. Ubisoft, on the other hand still sells their games on steam even after Uplay was created 7 years ago. So I doubt their creation of Uplay had anything to do Steam. Also, you dont have to buy games from steam. there are shit ton of stores where you can get your games without giving Steam one cent if you prefer. I don't really buy games on steam. about 80% of my library comes from Key redemption from other sellers. but I love using their features like family sharing, big picture, Broadcast to show friends what I am playing, I love using their forums everytime I have an issue, ETC. just to name a few. The truth is I don't have to give them my money to enjoy any of these features. which by the way it costs money to maintain them. Valve has consumers on their side because people also enjoy these features and love using Steam. There is a big difference in having a monopoly and people overwhelmingly choosing and preferring your service because well it is just superior to everything else available. Valve has never forced any developer to release their game exclusively on their store, in fact, they have done the opposite. they have gone as far as to pay developers to keep their games open and to not go into exclusivity deals. On the other had, Epic has done nothing to attract me as a consumer, other than stealing games from steam, and holding games hostages to force people to buy them only from their store if they want to play such games, while adding nothing new, or innovating. All they are doing is just throwing money around. They announced they wont do forums or Custome's Reviews. Of course they won't. they don't want consumers complaining. "just give us your money and shut the fuck up" Yes competition is good, but healthy competition, that is, and Epic doesn't want that. They just want to buy people over. Is this the type of competition you want? where we dont have the choice to buy the games where we want, but instead are forced to buy it only from them? Sorry not me, for me more is always better. And all Epic is doing is removing competition, not increasing it.
