GTA V 3D Vision is absolutely broken! Need fix soon or refunding.
I just recently bought GTA V on steam and I've done all I can to try and get 3D vision working properly. I'll start by saying that I've been using it for countless games over the past 3 months with no issues, and when I heard that GTA V was going to have support for this for PC, it became the only reason I wanted to get it on PC. I've already spent over an hour of in game time trying to fix this, and I need to solve this sooner rather than later so that I can get a refund if it's not going to work (through steam before 2 hours of gameplay). Firstly, for whatever reason I never see a "Stereoscopic 3D" option within the games settings which you almost always see in games with native 3D support, I've seen screenshots with it listed under v-sync but never seen it in my game. I've been playing full screen, 120hz, 1080p on a BenQXL2411Z, play any other 3D game on (like tomb raider for example), and the IR emitter and Glasses do effectively turn on. I have an intel 4790k and a GTX 970, I've tried running the 3D release drivers for GTA V (350.xx) and also the most recent (353.30) both with a full restart after and setting up my 3D vision and testing it (with no resulting differences). All I've ever gotten for results by default are double vision, where I see both images through both eyes, this is with the exception of using the nVidia inspector to switch the gtaV.exe to use the Max Payne 3 profile (in which was suggested in a forum), which does get 3D "working" but with all post processing at the wrong depth and just all sorts of objects at the wrong depth (like cars), this is unacceptable. Like I said, I don't have a lot of things I can try, since if the 3D isn't going to work I want a refund (and I've only got about an hour of gameplay left before I can't), and I've given in as much detail as I can everything I've tried thus far.

Try disabling the shader cache in the NVidia Control Panel. That has been causing problems lately with multiple games, including GTA5. You should probably get a refund anyway though, because even if you get 3D working the game crashes when in 3D after some random amount of time. If you look at the big GTA5 thread, there are only a couple of people who can actually play the game without crashing. In my case, I can play for 5 hours or so, as long as I keep the settings low. There is a memory leak that only happens in 3D that I reported to R*, which of course they say they are going to fix, but don't know when. You know, the usual corporate bullshit. IMO, right now it's not viable in 3D because of game breaking bugs.

Hey man! Thanks for the reply, that was really useful information. I will definitely be getting a refund, possibly buying it in the future when the support is properly there.

I looks amazing in 3D, too bad the current state is like it is. I just bought the Acer monitor with G-Sync / 3D Vision Ready; and 3D Vision is just getting worse and worse. I could almost have saved 150€ by buying the G-sync only monitor. Grrr.. But the RAGE engine (Rockstar Advanced Game Engine) has always been prone to issues like this - mentioning memory leaks which was just fixed in a recent patch. Now it appears again, but only when playing it in 3D? They did it executed it stunningly in Max Payne 3, so really wonder what's up..

I'd also suggest a refund. You'll be able to pick it up for cheaper later, and it might actually work then.

Quite unfortunate because the 3D screenshots of it looked quite nice. Thankfully I picked up Homesick in it's place, and not too far in, but wow is it beautiful, made another forum post about it.

My PC even crashes when the game starts (with the 5 stars appearing) in 3D, my PC will simply freeze until reboot. By manual deactivation (ctrl t) I can get to the game, sadly the game will also freeze at various random points. Not sure whether its a problem with my pc but I havn't got this issue in other games with 3d on. Also when exiting the game (ctrl m ...) and reentering the fullscreen the game will sometimes freeze also immediately. By far 3d vision is causing more problems than doing any good. It's really a shame.
