If you have a passive 3D display, you probably can use EDID mod to enable 3D Vision via Optimized for NVIDIA GeForce mode (and ignore 3DTV Play). For example, see https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/940579/hello-edid-inf-confusion-help-please-/?offset=5#4899608.
TriDef is an alternative for stereoscopic gaming middleware. Unfortunately, it 's support is no longer very good.
BTW, if you ever get tired of typing in that rediculous user name, you can try to get it changed.

I'm surprised that the spam filter allowed that through.
Back in the day I chose my nicknames carefully, today I notice that nobody cares or even reads them. I am surprised that you even noticed, whyme didn't.
I am looking for a free alternative, actually. I installed Vireio Perception and I could not get it to work.
My device is a HMZ-T1 from Sony.
3DTV Play actually works with that device at no performance loss/cost since its native resolution is 720p (I own a HMZ-T3W myself), using 1080p actually internally downscales the resolution to the 720p panels (there's one for each eye) so there's no point in using higher resolution than 720p on it and 3DTV play does support 720p@60hz
Of course if you want anything more immersive (like a 50+inches 2160p panel/tv capable of stereoscipic 3D at 1920*2160 you are out of luck as 3DTV Play does not handle SBS or TAB and does not support frame packing at anything higher than 1080@24fps (which is unplayble given the insane input lag induced by such a low frame rate)
I am afraid the only alternatives to 3DTV Play are Tridef Ignition, which lack support as of late, and native 3D SBS support from software or games such as Dolphin, Sonic Generation or Rise of the Tomb Raider.
