Plus it has a Gyro in it, that is actually very useful in some shooter games. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R5XDo1APsPM https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ha181akWcFU

I was actually wondering how it works in Dark Souls 3 and got my answer. Thanks mate.

It really needs attachments/modular. Not having a thumb stick just feels terrible. I sold mine after like 3 days. An xbox elite controller is much more expensive then should be but that's really the controller I want. Not having to take your thumb off the sticks to use any button is so nice. The price drop is permant cause its on amazon as well.

I went out and bought one at GameStop. The first thing I noticed was how awkward it felt in my hands, it's seems like it is made for people with small hands. I typically wear X-Large gloves and can barely palm a basketball, to give you an idea. The X-Box 360 controller also seems slightly small in my hands, but it has a more natural fit/feeling to it. The Steam Controller is weird, I just can't seem to get a firm grip on it. I bought a Lizard skin for it, thinking that the little bumps on it would offer a better grip. Unfortunately, for me, it did not even slightly help. The skin fits nice and I love the feel of it, so it was not a complete waste of money. The main reason I bought it was for a few old games that are PS2 ports with clunky controls, if it helps in those, I'll be happy. Anyhow, there are plenty of Steam Users that swear by this controller and love it once they get accustomed to it. So you definitely might want to give it a try, the software has matured quite a bit and improvements are on going. Steam has only sold 500,000 of them, so not nearly as successful as they hoped. Hopefully, they'll stay in the peripheral business and make their own Game Pad version of a Nostromo <-----<<< this would be awesome Edit: it's basically the same size as the X-Box controller, it's the ergonomics and button placement that makes it feel so weird.

The touchpad works like in the Vive controllers, so I actually prefer not using them. I don't see the point for me to buy this controller. I got myself recently an XBOX Elite which feels fantastic.

I have one of the Steam controllers, since October of last year. I use it all the time, it is so versatile, I can play DOOM with super fast and accurate aiming, I have played hours of Kerbal space program with it. I can't be arsed with mouse and keyboard anymore, nor can I be arsed with Xpadder. I play 99% of my games using this controller, it is awesome.

I’m Jeff Bellinghausen, I work on the Steam Controller team at Valve. Today Lars and I are going to discuss the benefits of integrating with the Steamworks Controller API, and how it can be used to simplify your games input code. Soon we will be shipping an update that adds full configurability to controllers other than the Steam Controller. This means that players can pair their PS4 controller directly to their PC and use all the configurability options available to the Steam Controller, including use of the PS4 touchpad and gyro."
