I am interested in trying out DDO and wanted some input from people that have played it. Since it was developed by Turbine, who also do LOTRO that I have played, I figured I would ask questions comparing the two.
1. How well does DDO work in 3D Vision? LOTRO works rather well and the only major issues with that game are the 2D nametags on people and creatures and the 2D sky. How does DDO compare to LOTRO for this.
2. I read that DDO has a first person mode. Is this true? I prefer this viewpoint in terms of immersion.
3. How solo friendly is the game? LOTRO claims to be solo-friendly but after the first early areas a lot of the questlines break down into fellowship or group quests. How does DDO stack up to LOTRO in this regards?
4. I know this game has been out for a few years. How do the graphics compare to LOTRO? LOTRO looks great to me, especially after the DX10 update.

After the first area (Korthos Island) It's practically impossible to solo.

Works perfectly. The dungeons are really amazing in 3d.
2. I read that DDO has a first person mode. Is this true? I prefer this viewpoint in terms of immersion.
Yes it does have first person mode. That's how I play.
3. How solo friendly is the game? LOTRO claims to be solo-friendly but after the first early areas a lot of the questlines break down into fellowship or group quests. How does DDO stack up to LOTRO in this regards?
Well, you can solo some dungeons but you aren't going to have a really fun time soloing. The game is all about group team play.
4. I know this game has been out for a few years. How do the graphics compare to LOTRO? LOTRO looks great to me, especially after the DX10 update.
LOTRO and DDO use the same game engine. The games is pretty much the same.

The level of immersion when you're playing this game is very good... all the game world objects have very good proportion making everything look quite convincing in 3D.
I personally just play it on the default convergence setting with 25-ish % depth.
Hands down, best looking 3D I've played once you get your depth setting right.

I'm curious - does everything in Warhammer hang together as well as it does in Wow? Such as pp-ups for loot and talent rees etc? If so, I may give it a whirl.

I've used 3D for WoW quite a bit, and IMO WAR is much better looking in 3D. It's almost like the game was made for it. They have an endless trial which gives you unlimited play through the first 10 levels, you should check it out.
