Question to Nvidia about the future of 3DStereo What are you planning to support?
Dear Nvidia Team,

After a great decade of Stereo3d together with Nvidia (thanks!!) and using/buying cards like gf2mx, ti4200, 5900U, 6800U and 7900gs until today I am now at a point where it seems to me that upgrading my graphic card makes not much sense and this is mainly because of missing driver support for different stereo-solutions and card-series.

I was/am using anaglyphs, shutter-glasses, projector with shutterglasses and dual-projector systems with pol. glasses depending on situation but nowadays I mostly use a projector-system with 20pairs of shutter-glasses for architectural 3d presentations (that's my hobby and I don't earn my money with it but I love it!! -Actually I think I am spending more money for equipment than I get back).
My system is working flawlessly (Best quality, even better that with polarised glasses and no ghosting) and I cannot imagine a better solution therefor.

The hint is that performance was always a problem and I hoped that this will change with SLI and newer card-series. Unfortunately it seems to me that you (Nvidia) go in a completely different direction.

Right now existing drivers for 8 and 9series only support Iz3d-screens (and anaglyphs) which are surely great but do not meet my requirements as I tried to describe above.

My most important question (and this surely interests many people here) is if you ever plan to support DDC VGA-Glasses again!?

Of course I do understand that nothing is for free but in my opinion all stereo3d-users are power users and buy often and mostly the most expensive cards as we need doubled performance. And if SLI would work (could this ever be?) I'd probably get 2 or 3 cards. The only cause I'd not change to ATI is STEREO3D. And I guess many 3dst-fans agree to that - This should be a cause for Nvidia to support these things.

And what about all the other great stereo solutions (dual vga, planar and so on)?
It would be a pity to discontinue support for these solutions any longer and these policies will surely sell no cards for you!

Please answer!!

Sorry to burst your bubble, but, this is a user to user forum. Nvidia doesn't read these forums in anyway /no.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

I know..
but I do not have an e-mail adress of Jen-Hsun Huang and hope dies last B)

- I will also post this in all known stereo3d-forums (even if I don't get an answer) just to do something about my frustration!

- sent it to Nvidia customer support also
and I will try to find some "good e-mail adresses" to forward it until I get an answer...

Nice :) 3D stereo is a "must". Just watching 3D pictures is such a pleasure. Allways brings a smile on my face even if it's just a bug in 3D. It's like magic. Thx Nvidia so far :D Can't wait for the future.

I agree wholeheartedly with Frettchen, I too have used anaglyph, Dual VGA, dual projectors (polarized), and a "Planar" style rig, which I continue to use.

I would like to know what we have to look forward to. I have been trying the last 6 months to upgrade from the 7900 series, a very good series, but one that wasn't the fastest a year and a half ago.

Thank you for your wonderful drivers and support over the last 10 years as I have only purchased nVidia products, and continue to recommend them.
