PC Crash everytime I enable 3d vision with windows 10
  2 / 3
Well if it is a Windows power saving feature it was happening on Win8.1 as well. Thing is that even when I turned power saving off and double checked with another device to make sure that the same USB port is not power saving, the emitter still went off so I figured that it's gotta be a built-in power saving feature from nVidia which sometimes doesn't work due to unknown reasons lol (this happens very rarely after I exit a game with 3D activated). On another note the emitter was going offline on a fresh install of Windows 10 so I'm pretty sure no other program was affecting it. Anywhos just to be clear, I'm forced to do the following to get out of the black screen or prevent it: - Every time the emitter is offline and I want to game in 3D I first re-activate the emitter light with HWINFO64 which detects all my devices on its startup but I have a 60-120 seconds time frame to start a game, otherwise the emitter goes off again and if I try to start a game while it's offline the system will hang 90% of the time (in the other 10% the emitter will just turn on with no system hang) in a black screen or a blue screen will occur which happened to me a lot on Win8.1 but not on my current Windows 10. - The black screen also occurs with like a 10-15% chance on exiting a game or disabling 3D vision from the CP and to get out of this specific black screen (doesn't hang my system) I use Hotkey Resolution Changer to change my display refresh rate with a hotkey, which in turn resets the display and everything goes back to normal. Hope this helps anyone who might have the same issue. cheers

Have you guys tried using the configuration utility that Kaimastah actually linked here: https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/949600/3d-vision/asus-vg248qe-goes-into-3d-mode-watching-full-screen-videos-help-/post/4998149/#4998149 Try turning off automatically-enable 3D and windowed 3D modes.

Try turning off automatically-enable 3D and windowed 3D modes.

The problem is that the emitter turns itself off which causes the system hang and black screen. No option in that utility can fix this unfortunately.
The problem is that the emitter turns itself off which causes the system hang and black screen. Might be worth trying a powered USB hub. That will keep the lights on at least, even if the hub connection goes up and down.

Kaimastah, unfortunaltely, as I told you neither HWinfo or hotkey changer tricks work for me. My system hangs totally and I have to reset. What about that utility tool? I have seen nothing that could help to avoid a hang or to keep the emiter on, right?

I have just found this option in power management menu (windows 10): "USB Selective Suspend in Windows". I have it as "enabled". Maybe something to do with this? Anyone knows what this thing does?

Hello Maegirom! helifax already said about it before:
Did you disable Power Saver on your USB port? Power->Advanced Settings->USB settings-> USB selective suspend setting. Set to Disable. The emitter should never ever go completely dark, while your PC is on.
The emitter should never ever go completely dark, while your PC is on.

Yep, sorry, I misread that. Anyway, I have set that to "disable" and the emitter still goes black after a while :-/

Maegirom, try using DDU in Safe Mode. Go into Safe Mode, run DDU, press on the Clean and Restart button (wait for the automatic restart) and install the latest nVidia drivers after you boot Windows into Normal Mode. This will not solve the system hang if you run a game while the emitter light is off but at least it might fix the system hang that you get when you disable 3D vision from the Control Panel.

Thx Kaimastah, but that's the first thing I did. Drivers are clean uninstalled with DDU and installed from scratch.

Do you use any antivirus ? I think some antivirus programs hook into USB drivers which might cause some issues with the 3D vision adapter. Also maybe just leave 3D vision enabled in the CP and use the Advanced 3D vision Config utility to disable the "3D enabled on game launch" option. Then you can just enable 3D vision using the hotkey while in-game but not before you run that HWINFO64 program. You can also try scanning for corrupted files doing a "sfc /scannow" in Command Prompt but you need to run this command without booting into Windows. Other than this I'm out of ideas really.

Hi again. In my latest tests I'm having much less hangs. Things that I'm doing (collected from several topics, don't know which of them are the good one) - Set hz to 144 (native) before exiting 3d vision. - Ensure that green light is on (unplug and replug USB if it's black) before doing anything (entering 3d mode, exiting 3d mode, launching a game) - Set Nvidia 3d stereoscopic driver as "manual" in Windows Services - Disable USB selective suspend setting. - Don't shut down the pc in 3d mode. I mean, switch to g sync mode (in my case) before shuting down. - Select 3d vision discover as screen tipe, then switch to my real screen. Currently, this amalgam of crazy ideas seems to give fewer errors. Let's see... BTW, emitter still is going off after a while, no matter what I'm trying. At least now I'm aware of this and I unplug and replug before doing something. Thanks. I will continue investigating...

I've had these problems too with nvdlkmk*.sys or whatever. USB emitter off, crash in windows 10 when launching game. I'm pretty sure there was a time when the emitter never went out so this never happened back in Windows 7. I think you should submit your hardware to nvidia to get this fixed. Since it is a common problem between certain configurations.

Hi Zayou. I can't see that photos. Not uploaded correctlyt? Anyway, as I said above, I'm following these steps and I'm not having hangs for now: Ensure emitter's green light is ON before doing anything. Unplug and replug cord if necessary If I'm going to 3d vision to g-sync, then I switch from 120hz to 144hz BEFORE the change If I'm going to g sync to 3d vision, then I switch from 144hz to 120hz BEFORE the change AND set the screen to "3d vision discover" (After the mode swap I change it to my ACER screen) I have set nvidia 3d stereoscopic driver to "manual" in windows services And that's it. I'm almost sure that the trick is to ensure green light is on before doing anything (I had not realized that, days ago, and I was certainly swaping modes with the emitter's light OFF), and maybe the remaining steps are not necessary. But based on that this computer magic ritual works for me I'm not going to change it xDD Note, of course, that emitter still is turning off after a while and I have to unplug and replug the cord when I want to swap mode. Not a problem, I have it attached in a front panel USB. This behavior did not exist in windows 7 (The light was always ON)
