Using 3d anaglyph directshow filter with kmplayer
Hi,
Here is a 3d (anaglyph) directshow filter which can be used in kmplayer with almost all video sources like local video files, most video streams, vcd, dvd, and most tv tuner cards. It allows you to watch (with 3d glasses like the blue/red type) non 3d type videos in 3d! The file can be downloaded from here.
To use, open kmplayer and right click in player window, go to options, preferences, go to custom filter manager, and click add external filter. Navigate to the place you have the file and click open, the file should now be in the custom filter manager list as "anaglyph filter." Next, click on filter checkbox, and then under priority settings, click "use forcibly". Note that you cannot configure filter here you must configure filter during playback from filter list to change properties.
For all video input, most video streams, vcd and dvd, i recommend using video transform filter and vmr9 renderless (hq subtitles) when using this filter.
Just playback any one of those video sources mentioned above and now you have 3d video! To configure filter, play a video source and right click in player window, go to Filters, and click anaglyph filter. Adjust filter to your preference. Remember, if you don't want to watch 3d video, just uncheck filter from custom filter manager list.
Special Instructions for DVD
For 4:3 or non widescreen dvds, the filter should fine without any screen adjustments from video decoder or kmplayer. Widescreen dvds (16:9) I have found only work with the filter after certain adjustments. First before playing the widescreen dvd, right click in player window, go to screen controls and select "Keep 1.78:1 (16.9 HDTV)". Next go to right click in player window and go to options, preferences. Go to "DVD settings", click on Decoder tab and select "ffdshow video decoder". Also, make sure ffdshow is setup for decoding dvd best to use "libmpeg2" and check "DVD decoding'. For help with setting up ffdshow with kmplayer go here.
Next you should open ffdshow video decoder and check the 'Resize & aspect" option. In the right side of that window check "Resize" and "Process whole image" and make sure "specify aspect ratio" is selected and that is 16:9. Also on the bottom part make sure you have this setting" Manual: 1.85:1". Now play the widescreen dvd and the filter should work fine!
Special Instructions for analog tv tuner/video capture cards
When using analog tv/video capture cards with kmplayer you'll have to disable video transform filter, right click in player window-options-preferences-video processing-general tab and next to condition choose "disable (not recommended)". You'll also want to use vmr9 renderless (hq subtitles) for your video renderer- go to renderer tab and choose that option. I have attached screenshots of the necessary additional filters- KA TVCrop and ffdshow video decoder and they have to be in that order (see screenshot) and have to be checked and "use forcibly" option has to be checked. For configuring KA TVCrop see my screenshot below. For configuring ffdshow for analog cards see this topic.
As with using ffdshow with analog cards, windows aero might be disabled when the above method is implemented. Also, yuv2 does not seem to support any filters so you have to use rgb24 or similar. If you are wondering why ffdshow is used it is because since video transform filter is disabled, kmplayer internal deinterlacing is not enabled, and ffdshow is the only filter I know that can work with raw video. Also KA TVCrop is used to allow anaglyph filter to work in this case. After all this, you should be able to watch video from your tv card in 3d.
Special Instructions for HD video like 1080p
If you try to use the filter for hd video like 1080p you will probably find it doesn't work or freezes kmplayer, etc. I don't know why it does this, but I found a way to overcome that. For any 1080p video you have to make sure ffdshow is set to decode the video within its properties and within kmplayer either through external decoders or from custom filter manager. You'll also need to by right click-options-preferences-video processing -resize (oversampling) configure as in the screenshots below to resize to 1920x1080 or whatever size hd video you are playing. Also configure ffdshow as in the screenshot below, (you can specify the horizontal size but not 1920 or so). Note that cpu usage may go up a bit, because of resizing twice. If done correctly you should be able to watch the hd video in 3d.

Hi I'm using creative audigy fx sound card on windows 8.1. I'm big fan of 5.1 surround sound and KMplayer. KMplayer is a fantastic player to support surround sound. My doubt is that KM has pcm output, SPDIF output and Lpcm output options in internal audio decoder(output) settings. If i have to get surround sound which output i can select? I do not know what is SPDIF. Not more than that which one can select LAV audio codec and kmp audio codec in internal audio decoder. Also I've confused to select options in "decoder usage" option given below > internal video decoder, external video decoder, internal audio decoder and external audio decoder. If you gave a link to get a 5.1 sound and settings of "decoder usage" according to have mentioned above. I hope that u will solve my problem.

This is one on the things who make 3D loathsome, and ruins the general acceptance.
At least the Z Buffer, fake 3D, use real effect. No computer from 2D video will ever get what's in front and what is far away, even with algorithm based on camera movement. I tried it and it's really gimmick.
Sorry if i'm rude, but I mean it. Real 3D forever !

It really depends on what you are watching and doing, as well as the type of video and audio connections that you are using.
If you are using HDMI and watching a video that has Dolby or DTS encoding, later models of Nvidia GPUs will output it to an Audio/Video receceiver and "might" be a better solution than your entry level sound card.
