Love 3d vision, but will MOST games take a big FPS hit with 3d?
I just started using these things yesterday and am very please. Then I was playing WOW and noticed that when I turned 3d vision off my framerate went from about 35-60.
1 - Basically I am wondering, will my framerate be taking very large hits continuously on EVERY game I play?
2 - Is there some way to change a setting where my Frame rate will NOT suffer at ALL in games when using 3d?
3 - Should I just realize that by using these glasses in 3d mode every game will run slower?
Also note i am using a high end gforce 9800gtx , and a bad ass gaming rig with quad cores and 8g RAM.

Yes, your video card now needs to render each scene twice so expect a framerate hit in every game of 25-50%. No way around it but SLI helps with those games that support it. Also, upgrading to a 200 series card would help significantly.

After a couple days of gaming with my new samsung nvidia kit I went from a 8800 gt to a gtx 275, and now, after a month, i am thinking of doing a complete overhaull for some SLI action... ( will need a new MB, therefore a new i7, and a 2nd gtx275 of course )
I notice, for the most part, a 60% hit in fram rate for most games (at least graphic intensive ones). In the Res Evil benchmark, at full settings, i go from 100fps+ down to 40fps give or take in 3d.

why the 2 series? I JUST bought this 9800 gtx + which , if i remember correctly, has better stats than the 2 series? I dont want to fork out more cash right now...does the 2 series do something special for 3d gaming?

GTX 200 is the premium for the nvidia line of videocards at the moment, but don't worry, your card is fine for now. Not worth upgrading again until the new Fermi cards come out, whenever that is.

yeah, cranking down the resolution will help but there is no substitute for graphics power. You could wait for a fermi card sometime in march but i am sure you could also find some bargains on ebay even if it is just another 9800 for sli. Just depends on how much the low frames bug you.

also, i want to be able to view the 3d pictures...but i cant. I try to save them as a jps but it saves it as a jps.jpg Then when i go to the 3d viewer and hit control v it doesnt go to 3d at all cuz when i try to open the picture it find sthem as a jpg. What do i do? and how do i save the file as a jps when the only options ih ave to save a picture are jpg or as all files.

redmantab that's not the way you get it to work, you can't just name it jps.jpg
you have to go to control panel / folder options / view / and scroll down and you'll see a box that says "hide extensions for known file types" uncheck that box and click apply
now when you go to save your pictures, change it from jpg to jps so it looks like
picture.jps instead of picture.jpg "picture is just whatever the name of your picture is"

oh ok. Cuz i just did that "hide extensions for known file types " thing and I still when i click the save as tab ONLY get the option for jpg or all file types. BUUUT i manually delete the jpg and leave it ending in jps and it works fine and i can view now in 3d. So there is no way to ADD JPS to the tab that pulls down when i hit save as? Mind you i am using firefox
