So are you saying that the Z650 supports checkerboard or are you referring to a different display?

No, it doesn't support checkerboard but u have to set 3D Mode to HDMI Checkerboard in NV Control Panel to use SBS with 3D Migoto to circumvent 3DTV Play limitations.

ahh yes, i forgot about that, I still need to try this out when I set a projector back up.
So is anyone successfully using the 3Dmigoto SbS hack with Nvidia's DSR or any other method?
I red through all this topic but I haven't been able to get the SBS TB thing working, can somebody please help me figure out what I'm doing wrong?
I tried on my sony bravia active 3dtv, both with 3d vision pyramid connected and disconnected using a trial 3dtv play. I tried with the witcher 3 mostly, and some Alien isolation (I'll try more next days with this one). I followed the instructions at this post: https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/912552/3d-vision/modifying-3d-vision-to-support-sbs/post/4819779/#4819779. I used the latest helixmod 3d fix (http://3dsurroundgaming.com/3DVision/Witcher_3_1.21.rar), I'm on win 10, gtx 780 SLI, steam version, no overlays active. Given that in the d3dx.ini provided with the fix there was no [Present] section, I just copy-pasted at the bottom of the file the instructions at this link: https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/912552/3d-vision/modifying-3d-vision-to-support-sbs/post/4814312/#4814312 (just the ones in the box after "Add this to the d3dx.ini:"). Checkerboard is activated through nvidia control panel. I did'nt bother downloading 3dmigoto from github, since if I'm correct, everything is now implemented in the new version of 3d migoto which I suppose is integrated also in w3 latest fix. Anyhow, I also tried downloading it and overwriting the fix installed in w3 folder with all the files in 3dmigoto 1.2.42 (except d3dx.ini) and also the shader fixes provided by Joker here: https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/912552/3d-vision/modifying-3d-vision-to-support-sbs/post/4816418/#4816418, with still no luck.
When I launch witcher3, I'dont hear any "buzz" sounds (which I instead hear when I'm pretty sure I am doing something wrong), game launches smoothly and I see a double image as if in 3d vision, i press F11 or a custom "m" which I tried to set, but nothing happens. I'm sure I'm missing something but I don't know what, maybe caus its late in the night and I should go to sleep :)

Eureka! I was copying this: https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/912552/3d-vision/modifying-3d-vision-to-support-sbs/post/4814312/#4814312 instead of the text in the d3dx.ini file after [Present] found in the folder of 3dmigoto 1.2.42 found here https://github.com/bo3b/3Dmigoto/releases. Then I wasn't overwriting the files from the witcher 3 fix with the ones from the same 3dmigoto folder (except d3rdx.ini)
So if it can be of any help to others I'll try and post some detailed intructions here for other people to use. If you find errors please let me know!
update: witcher 3 helixmod fix is being updated so these instructions might not be necessary anymore
Instructions for running Withcer 3 in SBS/TAB mode:
1. Install 3d fix for the game you want by following the detailed instructions provided for each game at Helixmod (http://helixmod.blogspot.it/2013/10/game-list-automatically-updated.html)
2. Download latest 3dmigoto version from here: https://github.com/bo3b/3Dmigoto/releases (at this time it is 1.2.43) and open x64 folder in it;
3. With block notes open d3dx.ini file found in 3dmigoto/x64 folder, find the bottomest [Present] in the text (if you use CTR+T it's faster). Copy everything from that [Present] to the end of the text;
4. Open d3dx.ini file from the 3dfix previously installed in your game. Go to the bottom of the text and just paste the text you just copied. Then remove the semicolon (for non english it is this: ; ) just before this line of text: run = CustomShader3DVision2SBS . Save and close the file.
5. Copy all the content in 3dmigoto/x64 folder previously downloaded, everything except d3dx.ini. Paste and overwrite everything in the folder where you previously installed your game 3d fix.
6. Enable 3d checkerboard from Nvidia control panel
7. Run the game. Now by pressing F11 you should see SBS, TAB etc, cycling. Choose the one which fits you and then choose the same option from your 3dtv or projector. Then you should see it in 3d with your TV/projector glasses
Thanks to all this wonderful community (in particular to DarkStarSword and Bo3b) for providing such a wonderful fix!

i really don´t get the point of this. SBS is 2D splitted into 2 images. To watch 3D in sbs full mode
the panel has to be a "4k" panel. or atleast capable to take input signal of 3840x1080@60hz then display it
in 1080p with active synch glasses to get the 1080p full frame.
1080p@60hz with SBS half is only equilaent to 720p framepacked. 1080p sbs half is only 960x1080 per channel as the 720p framepacked is 1280x720 per channel
Or are you saying some projectors can take 3840x1080@60hz and output 1080p 3D image ?

well I'm quite a noob here, and I'll have to study a bit to completely understand the details of what you wrote, but I think I can say this: TAB mode 1080p/60 hz with this workaround looks better than 720p/60Hz on my 1080p tv. Not as good looking as 1080p/24Hz, but 24Hz is unplayable. SBS mode otherwise, looks crappy and not worthy on my tv.
Maybe this is the reason: https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/912552/3d-vision/modifying-3d-vision-to-support-sbs/post/4817323/#4817323

????????????????
First it's not a split 2D image.
Second it doesn't require a 4K panel
SbS can be a full or compressed images depending on transmission bandwidth available.
On a native 1080P display, using this option can look better than 720P.

SidebySide is just saying hey i have a image here that is resolution of something and is
splitted in half, left is left image right side is right image.
It´s kind of STUPID term 1080pSBShalf and even more stupid is the 1080pSBSfull. as it is not anymore 1080p
if it´s full. well ok it´s full 2 images and that correlates to 3840x1080 . it would make more
sense to say 1080pSBS and 3840 SBS and leave the half and full out of them, but we are not the ones
that make up these stupid term :D

If ever this gets sorted out, here is a solution to easily apply the SBS method in most media in the easiest of ways.

Btw, this alters the 2nd image slightly in order to achieve a more decent 3D experience and solves some worries from above.
How is this better ?

This Mod allows for Depth Map Based 3D like What Nvidia does with Compatibility Mode 3D and Kind of what TriDef Does with Power 3D.
This is CM mode and Power 3D not real 3D.
Look at your own post. Firstly, I didn't use the word 'better'. Secondly, What do you think 'Like' and 'and Kind of what' mean? It means NOT EXACTLY LIKE.
Also, did you not see that I clearly put 'Btw, this alters the 2nd image slightly in order to achieve a more decent 3D experience and solves some worries from above.'
Lastly, it is not as intensive on your machine.

Seems like a terrific solution for AMD cards, where CM is hit and miss.
For NVidia cards, I think you'd be better off to use the CM bits specified in the sticky posts instead. You could still also get SBS output from 3Dmigoto as the only feature used with it.
