My GTX 580 is refusing to run any games released within the past 3 years.
It seems to be refusing to run anything requiring DirectX11
At first a menu comes up telling me I do not have DirectX11. I do have DirectX 11 and I've even reinstalled it.
I have the latest driver and there are no remnants of old drivers on my system.
When I go into dxdiag I get a message saying that Direct 3D recently had problems and it asks if I want to bypass Direct 3D. If I choose Yes then I'm allowed into the dxdiag menu and I'm shown that the 3D aspect of DX is all disabled and I've no way of enabling it.
If I choose "No" then Direct 3D crashes DxDiag.
Can someone please help me?
I'd love to be able to play the past few games I've purchased.

My guess is you don't have windows 7 installed.
I'd try a clean OS Install on a different partition or hard drive. You don't have to change your main boot, just try a different boot that has a clean install to see if it works.
DirectX 11 requires Windows Vista or above, it will not run on XP. The driver model changed, and is far, far superior to what XP offered.
