Elder Scrolls:Skyrim Announced Make your voice heard!
  1 / 3
Bethesda has officially announced that they have been working on the next Elder Scrolls game, Skyrim. The current ETA of the game is 11/11/11. Help me let Bethesda know that we would love to have this game be a 3D Vision ready title. Here is a link to the thread I started on the Bethesda forum for the game.

I added my vote to the forum. I REALLY hope they make this game 3D Vision compatible.

Ok i've posted there as well.

But, it really bugs me when all the mis or uninformed idiots come in spewing crap they know nothing about. Doesn't help our cause at all.
Nvidia, could you step in and help us out as well?

edit: just checked those forums again. We're being shot down by everyone there hehe. I won't be checking again. It just pisses me off. These people know nothing about 3d yet they keep spouting the same crap over and over again.

Things to be joyous about:
1. New Elder scrolls woooooo!!
2. Its not using the "ID Tech 5" engine, which would have been OpenGL, which would have been wholly incompatible with 3d vision.

Sad pandaness:
1. It's using a new engine, so its conceivable that the 3d experience could be worse than that of the current Gamebryo engine.
2. Almost another year to go, but look on the brightside: Dragon Age 2, Deus Ex, Witcher 2, Dungeon Siege 3 (fingers crossed that its good) are incoming soon(ish).

To be honest I expect the bethesda community manager's twitter update about the engine being completely new to be a half-truth, and that its just an extremely heavily modded Gamebryo engine to bring the graphics up to date.

Well I just registered on that forum to post as well!

It's just a bit frustrating and pathetic how many people jump onto the '3d is a fad' bandwagon.

I also like to make the point to these people about poking one eye out :-)

that plus one of the head honchos said in an interview a few months ago that their undisclosed game is not using idTech5. Something about "megatextures" being a core part of idTech5 and thats not suited to large open world spaces.

-- Im loving all the blind rage "3d must die" sentiments over on the bethesda forum. Some people just seem to hate the idea of an optional feature in a game that they can't use without spending more money. Though I suppose PC gamers in general have developed an obsession with maxing out every detail option (just look at the amount of youtube videos revolving around showing gameplay at "max settings!!" on fallout 3 and oblivion). Where a lot of the negativity seems to be coming from is the perception that a game designed to be compatible with 3d is a one that in turn becomes designed to introduce an unholy amount of "in your face" scenes to show off the 3d effect to the point that it becomes annoying.I think the fact that there is such strongly voiced opposition to 3d and that "designers should forget about 3d as soon as possible" only serves to highlight just annoyed people are by the unappealing prospect of upgrading not only the GPU, but also the monitor/tv that we were told is "1080p futureproof!"

--i.e. they want 3d to be a fad, and so argue that its a fad in the hopes of convincing others, and when they try out 3d their overwhelming desire for the technology to fail colors their opinion and they are left sitting there thinking "ugh I hate this, ugh stupid glasses".

Its very similar to the console fanboys who vehemently defend their preferred brand and are blinded by all logic as they desperately want what they think is true to be true.. then again maybe I'm blind to the "fad" of 3d-vision since I've paid a wad of money and desperately want my choice of tech to be justified? Spooky!!

To be honest I'm thinking of changing to a panasonic pt-ae4000 projector until 3d gets more support. At the moment when playing in non-3d I can make out the individual pixels on bright scenes and it bugs the hell out of me so thats pushing me to change too.

Hehehe, could be. Would you rather be fooled into thinking games are less cool than they are or more cool than they are?

I think a lot of folks are just generalizing their movie experiences to gaming. Avatar did great things for 3D, then everybody and his brother tried to cash in with cheap knock-offs. Now 3D is associated with higher prices, bad 3D, and headaches.

I think its fairly hard to blast 3d-vision on that thread now without coming off as a jackass. Most of the myths about 3d have been cleared up. One guy suggested that a lot of the harsh comments came about from people believing if 3d is taken onboard then other features will suffer. Tbh I think that accounts for some of the comments but certainly not the majority of them. The majority seem to just be along the lines of "3d? I don't use it. I don't want it. Its a fad. Therefore developers should completely ignore it as its a waste of time". Thankfully level-headedness appears to have won out, I don't expect many angry comments to appear now that the exact meaning of making something "3d-ready" has been clarified, and that its spelled out that we don't want developers to cut corners on other areas just to add in 3d compatibility.

I hope so, I've been a fan of the elder scrolls since arena and daggerfall (oh the bugs!), I have read every single in-game book, I don't have words to explain how awesome would be TES V Skyrim on 3d
