I'm using the physical 3D vision emitter (just as a dongle). The good thing is that since the glasses of the monitor are synced by radio and not IR, there is no interference with the 3D vison emitter at all.

Hi All

As a reminder, 3D Vision software IR emitter emulators are not an official NVIDIA product and no support will be offered. This will also void your product's warranty and violates our End User Software License Agreement (EULA).

While we encourage users to share information via the NVIDIA forums, we cannot provide any support for non-sanctioned, 3rd party software that violates our EULA. Also note that this software emulator may not work with current or future drivers.

Please see our Board Rules for further information: http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?app=forums&module=extras&section=boardrules

i wouldn't be using the 3rd party emulator if nvidia and samsung had put their acts together and made their products compatible.

i'm using a NVIDIA graphics card, a 3D Vision kit, and bought this monitor without any prior knowledge that it wouldn't work.

without the emulator this monitor would have become a piece of crap. a very expensive piece of crap!

To AndrewF@Nvidia, if you guys worked alongside Samsung and gave this monitor official support via the Vision Kit, we would not need to circumvent anything.
For your information, I plan to buy the 3D Vision Kit and do it the "legal" way, since I don't like to install unknown thirdparty software drivers onto my computer.
But it would be extremely beneficial for all of us, if Nvidia would contact Samsung and get an agreement to officially support their monitor.
I do understand that Samsung has gone with Tridef with this monitor, but why not support 3D vision as well, which gives more option to gamers.

I agree, but you won't be needing the emulator if you have the Vision Kit.
The emulator is only for those that want to circumvent the Kit and make the computer think it is connected.

That is also what Andrew is referring to in his comment, but to his information, this thread is more about the monitor and how to make it work with Vision Kit and not so much about how to take advantage of thirdparty software to circumvent it.

I have the ASUS HN274H and this is the brightest 27" 3D LCD on the market. It is fantastic, emits hardly any heat from the back and it looks boss! I recommend this one :)

Hi

I would love to work with Samsung on supporting their products with 3D Vision. However at this time, their products are not designed to work with 3D Vision.

There's a good review of the Samsung monitor on Xbit labs, on page 4 it explains how it's switching mechanism is different than Nvidias. It also states that "Other things being similar, 3D Vision glasses and monitors work better in daylight." Of course that statement is very subjective as with anything YMMV.

Unfortunately, TriDef does not work with SLI as far as I know, unless it changed in the last patch. But you can bet that it will someday.

Unfortunately, Nvidia is not supporting this monitor atm and as far as I know, have no intentions of doing so. Why? Because it is in direct competition with the Asus 27" monitor that they have certified.

This monitor will work with TriDef and a single GPU.

There have been reports of enabling it thru a vga connection for 3D Vision.

Nvidia 3d vision is possible with the Samsung 950. You would need 285.79 driver for the monitor to be detected as generic lcd 3d display and just go thru the 3d setup wizard choosing the appropriate images thru each eye. When in-game, enable 3d vision via the emitter button if automatic, and then switch your samsung's 950 3d setting to "frame sequential" and make sure to also switch to "R/L" image. With this, you would need your samsung 3d glasses not the nvidia 3d glasses. Will not work with newer drivers.

Gotta admit, that is so lame, that they disabled to ability to 'circumvent' and use the SA950... Effectively disabling the unit so it cannot be used with 3d Vision.

Haha, so typical

Out of topic.

To those who owns this monitor, does your ECO MOTION SENSOR work?

Coz mine only detects for a couple of inches, say 4-6 inches. Its really annoying that it doesnt work properly.

I'm hesitant to ask for RMA, since I got it with no dead/bright/stuck pixel.

Or is there a hidden setting that can calibrate its proximity sensor?

Any help is appreciated.

For you guys whose looking for an alternative monitor I can now confirm this one is viable!!! I want to thank you D-man. I got the pyramid today for next to nothing from a guy on Facebook Market. In nVidia control panel I see its still shown as the SA950. Tried the .inf you shared and the screen crashing and long delays are finally gone!!! There was a red text however that was a bit different from the one usually mentioned which' ass was kicked by disabling in 3d Fix manager. In control panel I see "Stereoscopic 3D display type" revert back to 3d Vision discover when I unplug the pyramid. So for sure it must be what you mentioned a year ago. The pyramid does help to suppress all the burdens. =D If you're looking for a backup, get it!!! These monitors used to be more than 800$. But I have to mention I haven't gotten the nVidia glasses to work with it yet. So you would need to get Samsung's own 3d glasses of which im sure a ton are still available. Saw a lady who was advertising 6 of them today of which 4 weren't even opened yet. Some of them have less ghosting. I believe the latest they've released. Could check if someone is interested. The biggest disadvantage of this monitor is that it has a gloss finish. But the extra vivid pixels makes up for this. Its an extremely bright and clear monitor. Still one of the most beautiful designs you would find. Just be sure the previous owner was not a reckless hillbilly who scratched the brushed aluminum. Chances are that if they chucked the box away they might be. No pun intended, just a tip =D
