I was hoping I could play 3d PC games on it as well which I can't
if I knew that my computer or more my graphic card wasn't compatible I definitely would have not bought it
who knew certain 3d TVs were not compatible
I thought they were all the same
now I know better
worse part is my Nvidia card actually recognizes the TV as a 3d TV
just 3d PC games won't display 3d on it
just don't get it at all
if somebody actually explains how to use and install the modded inf file and it works fine then I would say buy the TV
if not then it's not worth the price even at $299 for just PS3 games and/or to watch 3d movies unless you have money to blow
I'd rather get a 3d TV or monitor that works with both PC and console games

by the way does anyone know if any video cards actually work with the PS3 3d TV
[/quote]

it works very well and yes with this hack its worth buying the monitor. i think no has answered how to to do the hack because your just a click away from doing it. remember your hdd is a disc so click on browes and find your documents and open. hope that helps

For no reason I can pinpoint this display no longer shows the "Stereoscopic 3D" option in the control panel. Uninstalling and re-installing drivers(the modded .inf for the display itself, of course) for the graphics card and/or display itself makes no difference, nor does trying official drivers or betas, nor does a clean install or using a driver cleaner/sweeper, etc.

It just simply stopped recognizing it as a 3D display.

The strange thing is that the control panel list the "Stereoscopic 3D" option under my other connected displays/HDTV when selecting them as the "primary" display which are not 3D capable.

I have also tried disconnecting the other displays and installing the display drivers with only PS display connected as well as trying different connections on the back of the card such as DVI-to-HDMI, mini HDMI, etc to no avail.

I have been successful with the following games that I have tried in 3D with either 3DTV Play or native 3D support...

Alice Madness Returns
Borderlands
Bulletstorm
Crysis 2
FarCry 2
Halo: Combat Evolved
James Cameron's Avatar(while certainly not the greatest game in terms of gameplay variety it is simply incredible in 3D)
Mafia 2
Metro 2033
Renegade Ops
Sega Rally Revo
Skyrim
Sonic Generations
The Witcher 2
Tomb Raider Underworld

...and unsuccessful with the following games as they will not run in 720P with the modded .inf driver file...

Burnout Paradise
Call of Duty Black Ops
DiRT 3

Like I said before if someone has access to those games could you attempt to run them at 1280x720, 60, to see if it is an isolated case or not.

Some other info I would like to find out if it is the same for others using the modded .inf driver is the name of the monitor in the nVidia Control Panel(it list as the DENON, Ltd DENON-AVAMP in mine) and also the available resolutions that are listed(I have 1080P listed in the HD 3D section and also 720P but the refresh rate only goes up to 59 in 720P although I think that is a Windows error of sorts, in the HD, SD section the closest thing to 720P is 1176x664 which is not supported by 3DTV Play).

The strange thing is I have successfully ran numerous games in 3D at 1280x720 and a 60 refresh rate.

I should also add that my other monitor, HP w2408, and HDTV, Sony 34XBR960, runs all the games I have at all available resolutions without a problem with my GTX 460 under Windows Vista 64.

I really hope they add official support for this display in the future.

Ok, so I need the INF file and change res to one or the other that you have listed above. Will i still need that usb transmitter from nvidia?

No, you do not need the USB transmitter.

You need the .inf modded driver for the PS 3D Display and you will need to purchase the NVIDIA 3DTV Play software which is $40. There is a 14-day free trial.

With that said, in my experience the display no longer detects as a 3D display and the 3D options needed in the NVIDIA Control Panel no longer show up. I tried different drivers, different display ports on the GTX card, etc to no avail. For seemingly no rhyme or reason it just stopped working.

The display itself works perfectly fine in regular and 3D modes with the PS3 and XBOX 360 so no problem there.

Honestly, unless this display is ever officially supported by NVIDIA then I would not suggest planning on using it reliably for a 3D option with PC games. Games that have native 3D support work fine with the display right out of the box without needing a modded driver and costly software but those games are extremely limited in number - Avatar and Crysis 2 to name a few.

Hello everyone. Glad to see a page dedicated to the 24" ps3 3D display. I just bought this and am too using it as a computer monitor. So far I really like it and am impressed with the pic quality but I guess that 3d is not an option for this display yet from nvidia. I have read the entire thread and thats what I am gathering. I dont even have the option for 3d availiable to me is this something extra that I have to download to the nvidia control panel? The monitors running at 1920 x 1080p @ 60hz. I have it mirriored to my sony LCD tv running at the same resolution and hz. Is this why I am not getting 3d options? The nvidia control panel detects this monitor as a SCEI monitor, and the TV as a Sony TV.

In your case you need to update the actual "PS 3D Display" driver with the modded .inf file that you can read about in this thread. Only then will you see if the 3D option shows up in the NVIDIA Control Panel. If it does you will then go through setup and a calibration of sorts. You will also need to download the NVIDIA 3DTV Play software which has a 14-day free trial but then cost a one time fee of $40.

However, and not only with this display using a modded .inf, there seems to e problems with the 3D option in the control panel showing up at all or disappearing at some point as it has done in my case. There are a lot of posts reporting the same issues with different graphics cards, displays, drivers, etc so where the problem originates from is hard to pinpoint but one would have to assume it is related to the NVIDIA drivers themselves. For example, the 3D options in the control panel show up for the other two displays I have connected that are not 3D capable but the options do not show up in the panel for the PS 3D Display any longer. I have stopped trying to make sense of that and basically after exhausting all ideas/fixes, etc given up while holding out hope that some day NVIDIA will officially support it.

Hey there. Thanx for your reply. Yeah I gathered from this fourm that I would have to use that moded driver. Although I'm a bit unsure about using that though only because some said it did not work for everything they threw at it. I believe I will just have to wait till nvidia does something about it if they do. And now since you have the same display, what do you think about the sharpness with it? I love the display and games look SUPER fantastic on the computer using 1920 x 1080p, Tomb raider underworld is sooooo fricken cool using this monitor. But the texts dont seem to be all that clear. I mean I can make them out but it looks as if some of the letters are using two sets of pixels instead of just one. Do you notice this on your display? I have not tried the Nvidia control panel yet as I have had several monitors on this computer and none of those required me to mess with the nvidia control panel. The tv shows text just fine.

In my experience the display has a really nice, clear, and crisp picture with vibrant colors. You will want to tweak it a bit out of the box. I am using...

7 Backlight
50 Brightness
75 Contrast
45 Color
0 Hue
Normal for Color Temp
1 Sharpness...

...this is using the actual PS 3D Display controls. I usually calibrate using the "Warm" Color Temp but it proved to be too much. Concerning the "sharpness" I noticed a setting of "0" left the fonts a bit blurry but a setting of "1" clean things up nicely but any value more than that added a nasty artificial-like quality and what is sometimes referred to as "ringing." Generally you would want to use an audio/video calibration disc to calibrate a display but if you do not have one more cases than not you want to locate a "custom" preset and adjust from there by usually lowering the contrast and color while using the normal(neutral) or warm color temp. That should give a much more natural picture all-around.

Concerning the 3D, most games worked properly there were only a few that would not but like I have said I would not suggest this display as a reliable 3D display for PC games if that is what your main reason is for getting one as it is not officially supported as of yet and in my case I can no longer get it to detect as a 3D display. Works fine with consoles and native 3D PC games. Hopefully it will be officially supported someday but I have a feeling that is never going to happen.

One other thing, when in the active 3D mode the screen is going to seem much dimmer so you may need to raise the brightness/gamma per game or find a global brightness setting that fits you as everyone's eyes are a bit different.

This thread is very odd. I use my PlayStation 3d display for my PlayStation and my Dell computer. The Dell has HDMI with Nvidia 3d vision. I can play 3D HD files off my computer with no issues and they look great. 1.4 HDMI required. Nvidia 3d vision is no longer a separate download, it is bundled with your graphics card driver if its capable of 3d.

Hey whats going on. Good to hear from you. Well honestly the main reason I bought this display is because I was so impressed by the picture my Sony TV produces, I wanted the same for my computer monitor, as I game on here and have the display cloned to show the same thing on my TV as my Monitor. This was my only option as I was unable to find a Sony Monitor or tv that was this size. The displays are just about right on with picture reproduction but the text on the 3d display is still kinda weird looking. Its not on every letter just some, It almost looks as if its displaying the texts using two sets of pixels rather than just one. I just tired your settings and it did seem to help a bit and I too thought the same about the sharpness as I had it set to 1 as well. I'm starting to think I might have to return it and get a different one as I have nothing to compare it to just what other monitors look like.

I have noticed what you mean a bout the 3d options. it does make is quite dark when gaming. I wish they would have used the glasses that required no flashing in front of your eyes. Untill nvidia offically supports it I dont think I will even bother with the 3d settings and such.
