Anyone seen these new DisplayPort to HDMI type 2 selling yet? http://www.displayport.org/pr/vesa-introduces-updated-dual-mode-standard-for-higher-resolution-interoperability-with-hdmi-displays/ HDMI is such a joke, You know a fail Interface when it takes a competing Interface with adaptor to use its full potencial. I wish they would consolidate all these different interface into one that is universal like the good old vga video days. How we allowwed these sleazy content protection advocates to control a video interface to nickle and dime everybody is beyond me. If only manufacturers started making products with displayport only, save the 10k ball squeeze these shyster's charge for permission to have an hdmi port, consumers neither need or want an interface thats going to impede technological advancement for profit motivated copyright fatcats. There I said it.

DVI Dual Link is compatible with HDMI 2 As far as I know, there are not any displays that use HDMI 2 yet. Also it's just a matter of time before HDMI switches to Type 2, so that we have to buy all new hardware. Edit: I should have said HDMI B not 2

the adapter is a type 2, the hdmi rev is 1.4, these adapters will allow the increased resolutions and bandwidth nessessary to take advantage of 60hz 1080p 3d

Displayport 1.2 has supported 17.28 Gbits for several years with headroom for 20. For several years there has been a DP to DL DVI adapter available that are capable of 1080@120Hz You can do 1080@60 via HDMI if you use TriDef. With Nvidia if you use an Optomized for Geforce Acer Passive Display or a DLP 3D HDTV with 3D Vision you can do the same. An AMD 7970 supports frame packed out at 1020x1080@120Hz. The only way to use it currently is dual passive projection that I'm aware of. So it seems to me that this Type 2 is late and lacking. Where's the Type 3?

As far as I know the HDMI Type 2 connector was abandoned when they introduced HDMI 1.3. They chose to keep the Type 1 connector and increase the clock rate in order to get the required bandwidth without breaking backwards compatibility. It's not coming back.

Its only possible to output hdmi 1.3 from current DP++ to hdmi adapters, these new adapters will, no offence but just read the article and vesa news before replying inacurate info.

I know AMD Radeon supports dual mode and has since at least April with no display restrictions. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6T7pdrOipuI Nvidia is still working on their support, but it's EDID specific. So it will only work on supported displays, new ones would need to be added via support. You can read about the whole Nvidia 4K fiasco in this thread. https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/539645/nvidia-surround/2-monitor-gaming-/

I think this is what you are referring to. 300 MHZ pixel clock. http://www.accellcables.com/B086B-006B.html DisplayPort version 1.3 is expected to be finalized in Q2 2014 The older version reportedly supports 1920x1080P@120Hz as well. http://www.amazon.com/Accell-B086B-003B-2-UltraAV-DisplayPort-Adapter/dp/B00DOZHLAA/ref=sr_1_16?ie=UTF8&qid=1395439120&sr=8-16&keywords=seiki+4k
