So, there are performance problems with The Witcher 2 and issues with Fable 3 (performance and water rendering issues).
It seems that all you need to do to fix these, for the most part, is Alt+Tab... then tab back in, voila, increased performance. I started noticing it on Witcher 2, then Fable 3, I would randomly get poor performance and water rendering issues but not always, eventually I released they went away if I alt+tabbed. This also applies to some extent for The Witcher 2 also, the performance issues I was getting indoors, could be allieviated a bit by alt+tabbing. This isn't so much a performance increase rather than it is prevention of the decrease. Witcher 2 was still a BIT laggy indoors but nothing like the extent it was up until I alt+tabbed. On Fable 3, your performance gets restored from its laggy state and the water reflection issues you get, go back to being normal. For all I know, this might even work on other games too.
I have tested this on 2 different 3D Vision computers, altho both have GTX 480 and ASUS 24 inch, other than that, they are drastically different (intel vs amd).
I'm guessing an issue in the new driver with the windowed mode update possibly?
It helped me, so figured I would pass this on, you never know, such a simple fix might help you too.

I know that toggling vsync on/off in Fable will do the same thing (fix reflections and give performance back), so there's definitely a memory leak or driver bug there. The Witcher 2 however seems to have a more chronic problem in that even on my SLI 580 rig, I'm dropping to 5fps in certain indoor areas and nothing seems to help me there, not even alt-tab. I'll have to wait for the WHQLs before I can play it but Fable should tide me over though :)

It did definately help a lot more in Fable than it did in Witcher, but I definately noticed my performance increasing in both when I did it. The performance in Witcher was still pretty bad in the pub etc, but definately an improvement after alt+tabbing. Perhaps in The Witcher it is 2 unrelated issues but both together can make it even worse? The alt+tabbing only fixes it when you notice the performance even worse than usual. Altho on Fable 3 it would go from flawless to laggy then alt+tab would make it flawless again, same with the water issues. It takes me 2 secs to alt+tab out and in on Fable so easier than having to go to the sanctuary, then the cog wheel, then the options etc and turn it on and off.

Unfortunately not for me when I'm sitting on the couch with a control pad in the dark :P
But I'll definitely try alt-tabbing in the Witcher again tonight... performance in that tavern is shocking!
