FPS Drop 3D Off
Anyone help me find my love for 3D again...

Specs:

i7 920 (stock)
6gigs ram
GTX480 sli

No 3D drivers installed I can play max settings nearly always over 120 FPS

3D drivers installed can play fine with 3D enabled but in some games when i CRTL T it off the FPS is sh|t eg: Stalker Pripyat drops to 12 or so ...

This is common for other games too just the fact that the 3D drivers are installed the FPS drops??

Anyone have a fix or work around for this?

For now 3D is collecting dust

get your CPU to 3.6ghz and see if the issue dissapears, your CPU has to feed a lot mroe information to the GPU's when you enable 3d, and especially with two gtx 480's, they need a lot of data to be passed to them very quickly!

you have a decent heatsink on the CPU so no worried there...

While it's true that CPU certainly does make a difference.
I doubt very much that a 30 or 40% over clock would make the amount of difference he's seeing.
I think it's more likely some sort of hardware conflict, especially given that he's seeing the Fps drops when he disables 3d.
Could also be a power management thing I guess.

Just so you know, Ctrl+T to turn off 3D is not the same as going into the nvidia control panel and disabling 3D. Just using Ctrl+T you'll get a significant framerate hit versus turning 3D off properly in the control panel.

Yeah but... 480sli... should NOT be down at 12fps at ANY point. Some kind of driver/hardware confict like dude said above. /confused.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
Also, make sure you do not have any video card OC utilities running. Those have been known to wreak havoc in 3d mode.
