Lenovo Y580 and 3DTV Play
Hi, I've recently got a Lenovo Ideapad Y580. This notebook features a i7 Q3630QM CPU and a Nvidia GTX 660M GPU. The main reason for purchasing this device was to use 3DTV play with my compliant Sony Bravia 3D TV. However, I can't get this to work. The Nvidia control panel shows only the 3D-options and from the PhysX-configuration it seems that both the external HDMI and VGA ports are driven by the Intel HD4000 iGPU. Does this imply that using 3DTV is categorically not possible? Can somebody please confirm? cheers, winxi

winxi, I have the same issue, only 1 option for general 3d settings and PhysX in NVidia control panel. At the same time I have an additional options on my desktop PC, such as Display settings, Stereoscopic 3D etc. I have a Y580 (Core i7 Q3630QM, 8GB RAM, GTX 660M). Tried on Win 8 Pro x64 and Win 7 Ultimate x64 with different versions of drivers. I encountered some opinions over the Internet that this can be caused by Nvidia Optimus feature (switching between Intel iGPU and Nvidia GPU) and there is no option in BIOS to turn off the Intel iGPU. Can anybody help with that?

Hi, i searched a lot to find a workaround for 3D gaming on the Lenovo Y580 but i had no luck. maybe i helped some of you with this informations i collected the last hours. Lenovo IdeaPad Y580 is NOT Nvidia 3D Vision & Nvidia 3DTV compatible! You can't switch Nvidia Optimus off or deactivate the Intel HD Graphic. Not in Windows nor in the Bios...also no chance with an unlocked Bios. The HDMI port sends the signal to the intern Intel-Chip so there is no way to use Nvidia 3D Vision with this notebook! Its an hardware problem an there is no software solution. You can try other software to render 3D for games like TriDef3D (good solution but expensive coz of Hardware-ID bounded serial) or iZ3D (outdated and also from nvidia) but 3D-Vision is a way easier. For 3D Movies you don't need any software because your 3D-TV does the rest. ....too bad i already bought this notebook a few month a go! thanks for the stupid construction. nvidia optimus sucks without an option to deactivate it. greetings satyam

It makes me wonder if Nvidia and Intel would even try to collaborate and find a solution to driver conflicts between their products after that nasty falling out they had with the court battle and 1.5 Billion settlement.
