3d Discover first impressions Free anaglyph glasses
First of all, I want to lay to rest the rumors these are just normal anaglyph glasses. The normal anaglyph glasses don't work, you need to use the ones from NVIDIA.
Second- wow!
I fired up Serious Sam2, a game not even rated for 3d in the drivers, set the depth to 50% and ended up playing 3 levels. This is a game I don't even like much- but it just shines at 3d.
Then I tried Left For Dead, and again found the experience to be great. UT3 worked well for the depth, the colors seemed more off than the other two to me.
NVIDIA has definitely put some work into this, not the standard red/blue experience at all. A very nice way to see what 3d Vision is all about. 3d Vision is definitely superior but this approximates enough of the experience to make a better choice on the real thing.
Played on an i7 965/ 2 X GTX295 / Dell 3007WFP-HC rig.

That is very good to hear. Do you have any plans of picking up the vision kit in the future?

I've been using 3d Vision with the Samsung 2233RZ monitor since 12/24/08 for all my gaming.
The experience with the shutter glasses is brighter, with 100% accurate colors - but I wanted to try this out as I had seen a lot of misinformation posted about it around the web. Mostly people saying these are standard anaglyph and "not a perfect 3d experience". I agree on the latter, but they were actually a lot better than I expected. (and these aren't meant to be a 3d Vision alternative, they're meant to be a sales tool for 3d Vision- give people an idea of what gaming in 3d is like)

i use a normal pair of anaglyph glasses (red/cyan) and they work great, even better with the new drivers. i love the changes made to the anaglyph mode, they change the color palette of the game a little, like an over lay, so you can see a wider range of colors, mostly you can see red better, similar to the way the iz3d "optimized red/cyan" works.
i also wear 2 pairs of red/cyan glasses at the same time, it makes ghosting almost none existent. but darkens the image a little but nothing really noticeable i got the idea from photo 3d's RC 955 Dual Lens System, which is a plastic pair of anaglyphs with a pair of clip on anaglyphs over them.
are they going to be selling the discover glasses? or do i have to buy a new card to get a pair? i would like to compare them to what i am using now
i can not compare the anaglyph changes to the 3d vision shutter s glasses system because i do not own one nor have i used one, can't afford it.

There aren't many sources for the nvidiaglasses and i don't have any of those myself. But i do have homemade glasses out of discofilm HT116 for the cyan color and HT026 for the red. I bet these kicks nvidiaglasses anytime! Send me your address and i'll send you a pair for a fair comparison. :P

According to the picture of the glasses on Nvidia CEO Jen-Hsun Huang nose i can say these are standard anaglyph glasses. No more, no less. It's colorfiltering and it's red/blue. But: The colorfilters can very well have good or less good filtering and according to the pic the colors looks deep which is a good indication.
I don't doubt they're of good quality but please: No talk about superglasses! I don't buy it. It's just anaglyphs for x'st sake! /yes.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Normal paper anaglyph glasses (red-cyan) DO work, maybe with 3D Vision Discover glasses you can actually get better results if they have a little bit different color filters than the standard anaglyph glasses. From the pictures of the 3D Vision Discover around the net you can see that they provide a bigger color filter in front of each eye and that the cyan filter is more like blue, but this can as well be an illusion thanks to the digital camera taking the picture representing the cyan more like blue in color. I do have a more bluish anaglyph glasses (they have cyan filter) that actually look more like they are blue when shot with a digital camera. But I had worse results when using 3D Vision Discover mode with those glasses than with the plain paper ones, so to anyone that has actually seen the 3D Vision Discover glasses already - are they red-blue or red-cyan?

Yesterday I did try the 3D Vision shutter glasses on a good old CRT lying around in the office that had support for up to 120Hz in high resolutions. It was also a Samsung display and I wanted to compare how it performs compared to the new 3D-ready 120Hz LCD in normal mode, not in 3D, but them I decided to try the shutter glasses on it too. I was really disappointed from the results I've got from the CRT with 3D Vision shutter glasses. A game that looks really impressive on the LCD - Tomb Raider: Underworld was totally awful on the CRT... too much ghosting and you cannot go into higher depth levels like on the LCD, not to mention that the CRT lacked enough brightness so that in darker areas you couldn't see a lot of the details.

I have some others that i bought elsewhere, but I get severe red ghosting, especially with dark backgrounds.
Can anyone conform for me that with the shutter glasses there is no ghosting AT ALL, even with DARK backgrounds etc?
Cant wait till it comes to Australia (if ever :( )

There is ghosting with the shutter glasses too, but imo nothing as bad as older shutter glasses with crts.
