SimCity (2013) with 3D Vision?
  1 / 2
Anyone tried this game with 3D vision? For the life of me I can't seem to find any information about it.

from what I've read the whole launch was a fail, many complains on their social networks and forums :) haven't heard anything about its 3dvision compatibility

People always complain. Ive been watching stream where Sim City vet played the game with commentary, and he says it the the most difficult and well done part of the series. And it looked really fun on screen. Dunno about 3D though

I decided to buy the game. Had trouble with the tutorial when I first loaded (scripted events didn't occur). I relaunched and turned 3d off and it worked but I suspect this might have been solved by restarting rather than the 3d. Game looks great in 3D surround but requires shadows be turned off. I'm not sure about the interface in 3D yet as I played with 3D off. But the towns definitely look awesome in 3D. I'll post more tonight when I've had more time to play.

The game is definitely playable in 3D. Because you use queues on the terrain itself to see where you're building, demolishing, whatever, you're almost never distracted by the mouse being at screen depth; you're just not even looking at it and you forget it's even there. I do, very rarely, need to click on an icon that's at depth and the mouse is not. That can be a little tricky, but the icon usually highlights or there's a popup when you're over it so it's doable with relatively little frustration. Also, that occurs so rarely that I was tempted not even to mention it. Definitely doesn't detract from the 3D experience. The only problem I've noticed so far is shadows, turning shadows off seems the way to go.

At least half of my time spent with the game today was battling with the servers just trying to get a game started. The game is great when it's working, but I'd recommend waiting a week before jumping in if you can. With shadows turned off, the only issues I saw was with some signage on buildings that wouldn't match up in both eyes, and with lights from houses and street lights at night. Again, the lights don't quite match up in each eye. You can fix this by turning lighting down to minimal, but doing so also makes the whole scene look rather ugly so I wouldn't recommend it. It would be nice to see lighting fixed, but overall I think it's minor enough that I can say the game is worth it in 3D as is.

This is great news! I was hoping for this to be 3D compatible. Will pick it up eventually.

http://photos.3dvisionlive.com/tehace/album/51389fac5ec346e267000069/ interesting thing is that once I disable the 3d ingame all the shadows are displaced about 20px to the left and I need to restart the game to get them rendered correctly again.

Has anyone played this now? If so what's the verdict? The screenies look ok without shadows. It's quite expensive. Worth it?

Lord, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.

Ive had Simcity since launch, and never really played in 3D, mainly due to having to adjust convergence when adjusting zoom, it's one of the VERY FEW games that I play in 2D. In saying that, if you turn off shadows and reduce lighting to minimum and stick to roughly the same level of zoom, it can look quite nice. anyway, you can judge for yourself, with both steaming video and screenshots on SG. Due to the type of game, it looks better in still shots than it actually does when playing. http://www.3dsolutiongaming.com/2013/05/simcity-5-2013/

Such a shame that it doesn't have proper 3D. How come there is no (helix) shader mod made?
