Is 3D Stereo CPU-intensive? CPU speed's affect on FPS in 3D Stereo
I have an Athlon XP 2400+ and a GeForce 6800 GT. I get great frame rates without 3D stereo. However, when I turn on 3d stereo, I get much lower frame rates than I expected (more than 50% slower).

I am wondering if 3D stereo puts a significant extra load on my CPU, and that it might be too slow.

Or, does the CPU not matter much in this case, and it is only the GPU that is the limiting factor?

Thanks

in my opinion your CPU speed is way below that should be for this video card, i had similar problem on athlon 1,7, but on athlon 64 3200+ it is much better - slow down about 30-40%. Try to upgrade CPU, use PCI-ex system. It may be also becouse of lack of video memory on 6800, for stereo its good to have 256-512, but its minor issue. Third thing - you can have slow downs becouse of poor memory bandwidth, and try to upgrade mainborad/RAM/CPU (you always have profit from this :D )
ps. try to disable antialiasing if turned on
