Is 3D Vision Dead?

If this is the case it's the first I have seen them state this officially. Last time I saw them speak about this they said the kits where still being made. Is this no longer the case?

Sad news I can hear the last breaths of this technology.. I really can’t understand how this wonderful thing starts vanishing rapidly Sorry for me being so pessimistic but I really love 3d vision and this community

Nvidia's own link for buying glasses from Newegg is still working and also you can buy new glasses from Amazon too. https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814998061 I still have a tiny hope for new 3DV products in future (maybe too optimistic), if they fix the CPU bottleneck issue then the life of 3DV will improve greatly. Maybe they'll anounce the new product with their VR hardware release. I know I'm not making much sense with sheer optimism, but I'd like to think and hope that way, because 3DV (stereoscopic 3D) is too amazing to be left for dead. RAGEdemon posted a new update with his contact, still no fix, but they seem like willing to fix it, so there's still hope for optimistics. :)
Sad news I can hear the last breaths of this technology.. I really can’t understand how this wonderful thing starts vanishing rapidly Sorry for me being so pessimistic but I really love 3d vision and this community
Since they demo'd this stuff on tiny 17" monitors, and without any calibration, people are going end up seeing the 3D in totally un-ideal circumstances. They might even see it with the separation wider than their IPD is wide. Thats my experience with 3D Vision demos anyway. Same with the PSVR demo, everything was way too big and far away, not good when you're in the shark cage demo and you want the shark and the cage to feel like they're right next to you. I'm hopeful for 3D because i think big-screen 3D (high FOV really) is the only way to go and i hear so much talk about using TVs and monitors these days and screens are getting bigger, 120hz and higher is becoming standard. With VR showing people what "good 3D" looks like, eventually somebody is going to drop the bomb on youtube and educate a lot of people they can play all games in "good 3D" on a massive window to another world if they want, and for little cost, since displays are becoming cheaper. 3D Glasses: I wonder why Nvidia doesn't lower the price.

I tried cyan / red 3d Nvidia vision (even with non-discover glasses its OK) I was blown away. 2D now to me looks extremelly booring and lifeless. The difference looks like drawn cartoon picture versus blender 3d object. Imagine if all games had images and not 3d objects. Thats how it feels 2D like now almost. And thats why in 2017 i am transitioning to "old" 3d nvidia tech. Hope for new one. And I tried VR. Meh resolution, you cant see anything clearly beyond 3 meter radius. Its only good for flying games, i enjoyed flying a spaceship in EVE so much. I want to fly F-16 with second gen VR so badly. Making dreams come true- VR yeah

@eitan8385 I know you may already know this, but since i follow the PSVR reddit and i have noticed comment which easily number in the hundreds from people saying they were able to build up a complete tolerance to VR motion sickness. That said, there are also [a few] comments by people indicating they've never gotten over VR sickness, but very few and i don't know what they've tried or how often they play. No details for them. Some things that people believe have helped them is: Putting a fan on you. Stopping the moment you feel sick and giving it at least 15 minutes till playing again. Ginger pills. Dramamine. Starting with non smooth locomotion games and building up. Unfortunately i imagine building up a tolerance requires some smooth movement.

It doesn't look to me like the 3D Vision 2 glasses are discontinued. People have talked about this the last couple of years, especially during the seasonal festival of overconsumption, when they typically sell out. They don't make a lot of them, but they have continued to restock them. I would not put very much weight in the words of an internal answer desk person at NVidia. They are going to mostly be clueless and can easily say canceled, when they meant to say deprecated. And no, it's not depreciated. 3D Vision has been a legacy product for years, but that does not mean canceled. For hardware, even if they kill their direct 3D Vision hardware support, they still have 3D TV Play, which gives us 90% of what we need anyway. As always, the real story to concentrate upon is whether the drivers still support 3D. As long as the drivers are updating and fixing bugs, adding new profiles, still shipping the 3D Vision Driver, then it's on. In the absolute worst case scenario, where NVidia says f* it, and kills 3D Vision, either DarkStarSword or I could write our own version of 3D Vision, and have thought about it off and on. All those stupid profile bits for driver heuristics has often made me wonder it we wouldn't be better off with something cleaner and easier to understand, even if we have to fix more effects. Waaaay too much work if NVidia is still doing it, but it's "just" software and we could do it.

@eitan8385 Dude, you gotta think of having to move your head around as free head tracking! I do it too on my 46" on my desk. I like the fact that my 46" causes me to raise my head up becasue i catch myself in a mirror sometimes with my head bent forward too far, which some say is a result of too much bad posture while reading and sitting at the computer. @bo3b: Re-write 3D Vision? wow, im going to have to get a better job for that donation... :D I truly hope you never have to do that. Not unless somebody in the 3D community suddenly hands you over a million bucks and Nvidia promises they won't purposely block out support for some stupid greed-based reason. Hopefully you wouldn't run into whatever issue Tridef had with their performance problems, that was a very serious roadblock for using Tridef.
