Pasive solution better than active?
Any pasive solution nowdays? I have Nvida 3D Vision 2 but I realize that the main reason I use the glasses only a very few times is because the size and weight that make me feel unconfortable when using for more than 20 minutes. The idea is to have a simple pasive clip attached to my normal glasses. I have heard in this forum about 3D pasive gaming with a 3D TV 4K touching the EDID thing (I have no idea about 3D on TVs, I suppose there are pasive solutions). I wonder if this can be done with a small 3D TV (27" or something, like a monitor for my desk) with 2K instead, or only 1080p, and what results could be obtained comparing with normal Nvidia 3D Vision 2.

All the EDID hack is doing is allowing passive 3DTV's to work with Nvidia's 3D Vision/Play software. You can't magically turn a TV or a active 3DTV into a passive solution. Maybe I'm reading your post wrong, but that's the impression I'm getting. You can't do that (assuming that's what you mean). There are very few passive sets being made. Very few any 3DTV's period being made (which is why most sets are slinking back into the 60hz ghetto with phony marketing terms trumpeting virtual HZ rates). The only 3DTV sets left are are the high end premium sets, and no high end sets exist at 27 inches. So there's zero chance you're going to find a TV in that range. Maybe look used?

And I understand that what EDID makes is only to lie the Nvidia driver making it to think that the TV is a compatible 3D ¿TV? (I supposed that every 3D TV was compatible with Nvidia 3DTV). So the EDID does not make the driver think that the TV is a 3D monitor, but a 3D TV. That said, what is the real final result, a better experience than using a 3D monitor, or worse? I read also something about using the EDID hack to make a 4K TV to behave with pasive glasses, halving the resolution to each eye. This last example is what a pursue more, but I suppose that the TV has to be 3D TV + 2K/4K + pasive glasses.

Passive solutions have half the resolution of 3D Vision, and poor ghosting. The 4K hack improves the resolution side of things, but there are no guarantees you'll be able to get it working, umless you're using a model of TV that has been tested already.

The EDID mod seems to work for most LG 4K models - for example, the mod works for UB9500 and UF9500 models, which are different from other models referenced in prior link.

Acer HR274H 3D Monitor EDID Override.inf works with my 55HU9000 and 46c7000

acermod4k.inf I have to disconnect my main 2D computer monitor to use this only works on 55HU9000

The issue with passive is you're cutting the resolution in half (hence why they seemed like such a perfect fit for 4k). High quality passive sets are known for having little ghosting. That's one of their major advantages over active 3DTVs.

zig11727 - what resolution and frame rate do you obtain with EDID mod and your Samsung? LG passive 4K TVs yield 3840x1080 pixels per eye @ 60 fps with EDID override. 4K active TVs are capable of 3840x2160 per eye @ 24 fps.
