Warning: attempt to run Stereoscopic in non-stereo display mode
  3 / 4
When I tested 3Dvision at 100Hz on my Acer projector (using VGA) I got really bad cross-talk, I had to reduce the brightness and contrast to 20% to clear it, and then the image looked worse than 120Hz 3D mode anyway. But it would still be great to have the option to remove that stupid message, it causes problems for many projector and CRT users, how hard can it be just to add keyboard shortcut to hide it, or a simple registry value. I have read that you can hide the text by editing a driver file but you still see the empty text box over the image. /sad.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

I have this annoying error with the latest drivers released yesterday (2011-03-01): 267.24. Seems to be that Nvidia driver lowers the resolution of my Samsung 2233rz monitor down to 60 hertz instead of keeping it at 120 (I also have a second monitor, samsung something, a 60 hertz one). So I went into the 3d Vision setup wizard and clicked "next" all the way to when it tried to display a 3d picture, instead I got this red warning text. I alt+tabbed back to my control panel and saw that it indeed stood at 60 hertz, then I changed this back to 120 hz and went into the 3d Vision setup wizard again. Still the red text. I tabbed back to the control panel: Yeah it had set it to 60 hertz again. So back to 120 and back to the wizard. Wizard didn't work and I went back to the control panel, this time the control panel showed 120 hz although this was a lie. I think fundamentally that is the problem, the driver forces the monitor down to 60 herz. Really really strange.
[/quote]
Same for me, i updated my driver this afternoon, and what it works before still not now.

I have a 3D monitor LG W2363D and a second one LG L227WT. The 3D monitor is the primary screen. To run the 3D assistant, i have to boot without my second screen. After runnuing the assistant, i re-boot and connect my second screen. But in game, i have the red message. For DCS A-10, i solve the problem in unselect the full screen box in the game. But for game which don't have that kind of option, there is no solution, except unplugging the second screen.

Please, fix that problem as soon as possible.

Did you turn 3D mode off in the projector menu? When the projector is in nvidia 3Dvision or DLP 3D modes the brightness seems to be automatically reduced, I think the cross-talk problem only happens in full lumens 2D mode.

Having the same issue here.

I have 266.58 installed, but it was after installing this version of the driver that issue showed up.
Hardware configuration didn't change.

Worked great since day one. Install 266? Broken, so yeah...something in the drivers is hosed.
I can disable my second monitor and it works just fine, by why should I have to do that?

My 3D monitor is set to 120Hz, my second monitor is maxed at 60.

Funny thing, though, if I run an app or game in a Window, it seems to work. (Although very dark.)

So how long before we can run 3D again with two monitors? Been waiting for a couple of months now.

When i turn 3D mode off, how can i watch 3D with dlp link glasses? :)
So yes, i turned ON DLP mode in the menu, brightness is good for me even
in ECO mode, i have a dark room.

Btw. what are you mean "cross-talk in 2D mode"? :O

DLP Link and nvidia 3D = Red Green Blue colors cycled fast

2d 'full lumens' mode = Red Green Blue White Yellow colors cycled fast

we were interested in the latter for 3d , not the first. Although I don't want RGBWY anymore.

My config:
GTX 580
3 monitor (a 27 inch dell not in 3d, Samsung 22rz 3d vision ready,acer H5360 3d)
A solution for users with acer H5360 3d projector and others not 3d monitors is:

Go to nvidia control panel
change resolution
select acer 3d icon
create a customize resolution with this parameters:
1280 x 720 x 32 bit progressive 120 hz

this solved for me red message with acer 3d togheter a non 3d monitors like a 27 inch dell

My previous config with a GTX 480 had not red message problem.

gtx 580 works fine with two 3d capable monitor like Samsung 22rz 3d vision ready and acer projectors or with a single acer 3d projector. but if i connected a 27 inch dell togheter with acer 3d , the result was red message on acer full screen (bad res at 1280x1024 75 Hz)

with customization all went fine

good luck

Fabio and iMaxx, thank you both. That worked for me too! iMaxx, just like you I've been hanging around for months and waiting for a fix without this issue ever being addressed even though new drivers have been released. Now it works, I'm thrilled. Again, a big thank you!

Hi guys!

Anyone can help me with this warning: " Warning: attempt to run Stereoscopic in non-stereo display mode, please change to a acceptable mode. See documentation for acceptable Stereoscopic 3D modes" ?
All settings in game and Nvidia seems to be fine, tried everything, 3d test passes with no problem, games are compatable, fresh drivers...

I use GeForce GTX 295, SyncMaster 2233, IntelCore I7, Ram 6gb, Vista 32 etc.

Thank you!
Nick.

I've seen people complain about this problem for months yet NVIDIA has done nothing about it. The devs at NVIDIA are too freaking stupid to simple make a checkbox that turns off all warning messages in game. If I had access to nvidia's source code I could fix this in two seconds. All they need to do is add a checkbox and a few lines of code that disables all nvidia warning messages while you're gaming.

This post makes me so angry. I could easily fix it. What the freak is nvidia's problem? They have the worst reaction time to fixing end user problems. At my job I work directly with the end user and it usually takes me no longer than a week to implement a fix. There is no excuse, NVIDIA has something beautiful in their hands that they don't know how to support properly. This is why there are ten open box returns at fry's electronics for nvidia 3d vision.

Thanks Fabio,

I have been struggling with this for some time and this fixed my problem.

To NVIDIA staff: Could you check why this is happening and fix the driver? I had it working perfectly and after installing the last driver I got that problem. It works perfectly with just one monitor, but as soon as I add a new monitor (depends on the monitor) the 3D vision stops working and change the refresh rate of the 3D monitor.

Thanks,

Fabio's fix previously worked for me, but after updating to the newest Beta drivers today, it no longer works. I cannot properly get a 3D mode working, and it no longer allows the custom resolution trick. It tells me that the option already exists, so it doesnt let me make a new one.

I was able to get it to work by changing the refresh rate on my 120hz monitor to 110, but why do I need to do this?
It also seems to take significantly longer to actually switch to 3D mode. It shows 3D images first in top/bottom mode and then switches over to using my glasses after 10 seconds or so.

I got this problem today when I updated drivers 260.99 -> 275.33. My monitor simply didnt go 3D mode. It was stuck with 60Hz, but some games show it was 120Hz. Very strainge.

However I solved it accidentally when I disabled other monitor and tried to play, IT WORKS! After gaming I enabled other monitor and now it works like it used to, both monitors on, but only main monitor with stereo 3D.

Fabio's solution worked for me with 64 bit windows drivers 276.28 downloaded and installed today. I am using a Quadro FX 4800 multiple monitor setup with an ACER
GD 245 HQ as my 120hz 3d monitor and a Dell 2007WFP as my non-3d secondary monitor.

Nvidia - it sucks that your driver doesn't have what Fabio said as the default option when someone is trying to use 3d vision. Or if it is too difficult for you to change the default option, how about a simple notification that says 'your 3d monitor is being brought down to the refresh rate of your non-3d monitor so stereoscopic viewing at 120hz isn't working, to fix this go into control plane and .... [insert what Fabio said here]'
