My Acer GD245HQ review experiences of a new 3D vision user
5 / 16
Hi!
I've just bought the GD245HQ, and just like you i'm trying to update the driver to 1.1, however windows update has no 1.1 driver for ( win 7 32).
However, i'm just wondering why i cant' actually update my display driver, i mean right now it's still the generic plug and play driver (6.1.7600.16385) and the worst thing is that i can't update it as everytime i try to update it pointing to the new driver i've downloaded from ACER windows doesn't want to update and tells me i already have the latest driver available....Yeah sure a plug and play display driver from 2006 from Microsoft....
Anyway thanks a lot for this thread as it helped me make sure i could buy this monitor.

It says its 1.0.0.0 but when you install it (you have to force it ,manual installation, point directly to the file, choose Acer)
...it is 1.1.0.0 .
Text is clear and readable ... and once again : it has really less ghosting .
Found this on YouTube, maybe it will help others. I dont have the screen, so i can't try it myself.
How to disable overdrive and image sharpening on the Acer? (thanks to 10e for this).
1) Turn off the screen
2) Hold down any of the control buttons at the bottom and turn on the monitor, while still holding the bottom "action" button. I used the one closest to the Power button.
3) Wait for the Acer logo to appear and then disappear and then let go of the button
4) Hit the middle button on the bottom (third from the right) and you should see a screen with Overdrive settings, and some other color settings
The entry OD means overdrive, deactivate it and turn off the screen.

This is already in this topic :) If you turn off OD then 3D looks horrible though unless you play at 100hz (and even then it isn't top). And it's quite a hassle to turn it on and off all the time when you want to play a game...

pls help - in the euphoria of 3d i have bought the acer gd245hq to replace my old samsung 245t. on the 2d performance and colours the old samsung beats the acer hands down, and yes i have the latest drivers from acer and i did try switching overdrive off. still in 2d the letters are not sharp, it's like connecting a monitor using vga instead of dvi cables. as i do a lot of 2d work i find this really annoying.

The 2D is decent. Are you using the White dual DVI cable that came with the Acer?
Reinstalled Nvidia drivers? Did an update on the Acer driver via Screen resolution Advanced settings?
Hey you guys, I recently bought this monitor but I'm noticing a great deal of that rainbow effect thing. Is there anyway to fix this? I think I have a faulty monitor because this is just to much. The reviews I've read said that it's barely noticeable and it happens from time to time but its always visible and its kinda irritating. My view sonic monitor was better than this ;(
I have the latest Nvidia drivers, Acer drivers and a GTX 480 (soon to be in sli ;p)

I never saw a rainbow effect so I'm guessing faulty cable/screen...

Yep I am, I have an HDMI cable that I can use but I've never used it. I think I'll try it to see if its different. if not I'll probably call Acer to see if I can get it replaced. I just hate thinking of not having my monitor for a month ;(

The best thing you can do is to get it fixed by Acer. Try the HDMI ofcourse. When i used another DVI to DVI cable mady by Konig i got a lot of dead pixels on my screen. (pink colored)

Do you think it really produces less eye strain than others?
How do you compare it to the LG W2486L or any better one?
What about glare?
