The max you can get is 60 FPS per eye, but anyhow, you will have to aim at 240fps so you can cover up max settings and other Nvidia texture technologies.
However, there are no 4K 3D monitors yet anyways, well there will be, maybe when 4K becomes the standard like the 1440p is now. I would be looking at dual-SLI Pascal GPU. 3D vision is quite demanding and merciless to performance. Prepair to invest a lot!

Unfortunately, the gpus just don't exist so any answer is speculation.
Just get a projector and you can enjoys tons of games now then worry about 4k when it becomes practical :-)
In my opinion, yes, but to be fair, with a projector you do get placement issues and they're not for everyone, but no ghosting and a huge screen is hard to beat. Plus you can use it for normal movie viewing etc.

Are the pixels very distinct and square on a projector? Or do they bleed into one another a little bit (kind of like the old CRT TVs).
If the answer is that they bleed a little, then I'm seriously considering getting a projector; I don't like how sharp pixels are on monitors.
They bleed into each other a bit, but only in 3D. The pixels are just barely visible at wall distance in 2D. I only notice the resolution in 2D. In 3D the second visual angle smooths things out dramatically. With SuperSampling to smooth the jaggies, it's really quite good.

I have an Acer H5360 projector and I am very happy with the 3D as well as the 720p image. You need to work with the convergence for many games to look their best, but it basically eliminates ghosting.

Well 4k kinda exists in 3D Vision.... is called 3D Vision Surround ( the amount of pixels, if you do the math almost matches the 4K amount of pixels. Ex: 4k = 3996 × 2160 = 8631360. 3D Vision Surround = 5760 x 1080 = 6220800. So, almost there.) I can say that without a SLI system and I mean GTX780 (Ti) or the like you will never ever be able to achieve the 60fps (per eye) that is the limit/recommended experience for 3D Vision. How much you will be able to get at that resolution with ONE card is questionable but I would say 50% of that (so around 30 fps or less) Of course, it depends on the game, engine, optimization, settings and so on:)

I am anxiously waiting for a 1440P 3d monitor with something like lightboost.
