gtx 260 not compatible with 3d vision the 3d vision wizard keeps telling me my graphic cards not com
Yesterday I started getting this error about trying to run stereoscopic 3d in non stereoscopic display mode. When I ran the wizard it told me I didn't have a 3d compatible display which I do so I updated the drivers and everything was working fine. Then today I stated getting the error again so I tried reinstalling the drivers but it didn't work I went to the wizard to check and it says "NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260 graphics card is not compatible with the GeForce 3D Vision" I've tried downloading the drivers again and reinstalling them but I still get the same error. 3d vision discover works just fine. In case OS has some relevance I'm running windows 7.

I know your pain with installing 3D Vision. I recommend that you download the newest driver cd (1.19 I think), driver sweeper (I think 2.1.0 is the latest), and then unplug the receiver and dont plug it back in until the very end, and when you do, dont use the same usb port you were using before. I just had a problem similar to yours and apparently one of my usb ports was going bad, I switched the port and the problem was solved.

However, for your problem definitely start from scratch. Uninstall everything Nvidia related in the control panel, but dont restart when asked. Instead run driver sweeper and remove both the nvidia display drivers and the physx drivers. Restart the computer when asked by driver sweeper and when it boots back up run driver sweeper again. Then restart again when asked (when it starts back up you could run driver sweeper a 3rd time just to check, but it shouldnt find anything). Now install the drivers by double clicking on the setup file in the setup folder (at least I think its there).

You should be asked to restart once, and then when it starts back up it should begin to install the 3D drivers automatically, when thats done it will run the 3D setup. This is when you will be asked to plug in your receiver to the usb port, and like I said before, try to use a different port (thats what caused my problems).

It should work fine from that point on. If not let us know and maybe we can figure something out.

On Windows 7 I had to do this:
1- Uninstall EVERY Nvidia display driver, ie display, physx, 3d vision and control panel. Also disconnect the 3D receiver.
2- Boot to safe mode and run the driver sweeper to clean up left overs.
3- Restart to regular mode.
4- Install ONLY the display driver (not the combo one that has the 3d as well)
5- Restart computer
6- Install the 3D vision driver.
7- Run the Wizard and connect the 3d receiver when prompted. (you may want to try a different USB port that works on a different controller like if you are on the rear ones, use the front one as a test).
That did it for me.

Glad that worked for you and sorry to hear some of you are having problems.. I upgraded from a pny 9800 gtx 512mb to this excate gtx 260 and I didnt have to do any of this..

Installed the hardware..
installed the newest software from the website..
had to re-install the newest 3D drivers from the website

but it kicked off with no issues.. I didnt see any real improvements though in my games.. :( Saboteur looses frame rate horribly as soon as I activate the 3D

I have the exact same card and it works pretty well when you turn off the AA and set everything to medium. However I've had to upgrde my CPU (athlon X2 4400) to Phenom x4 940. Games like Gears of war were overheating the CPU which was slowing everything down every 5 minutes to cool down...

hey guys, sorry to resurrect this thread, but i'm having the exact same problem with a gtx 260 card. everything installs fine, but upon trying to run the 3d vision wizard it always says that the card is not compatible. any ideas? i've cleaned drivers with driver sweeper in safe mode and all that multiple times. what am i missing?

-edit: nevermind i found the issue, someone had installed iz3d drivers.. /sigh
