If you set the SLI compatability using Nvidia Inspector to 0x0240000D the lighting bleeding through textures issues goes away in the original Witcher.
I now that, but 90% of people don't know that. And shouldn't that fix be already in the drivers? The game was released a long time ago. And what about AA causing white dots in the game when it's night.

WoW!!!! Actually I didn't knew that:)) Now I know that...will give it a try!/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />)

I don't have anything against nVidia or CDPRJ. They made a beautiful game don't get me wrong and I love it! The problem is they said something and proved to be way different. They should have used the "Trine" approach: Make the game to work flawless in 2D. At a later point make a patch and enable 3D... Trine wasn't a 3D ready game...yet it became later on.

If we tested in 3D and saw poor performance at least....hey it's not recognized as a "3D Vision Ready" game..."Please CDPRJ make a patch to work properly in 3D" and they would make it later...instead of begging them to make the game performance-wise playable as it should be (because it was advertised like this)

Personally, I think it's in CDPR's hands to fix this now. NVIDIA can do a workaround (and probably will in a June beta driver), but they even said the developer had to fix the root issue (they are using the wrong API on a per frame basis http://nvidia.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/nvidia.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=2995 ). CDPR is undoubtedly dealing with an enormous amount of incoming bug reports.
It is also probable that they are prioritizing the bug fixes based on the number of users affected, and the severity.

I figure the only way this is going to get fixed in any timely manner is if we all start officially entering in bug reports on CDPR's support page here: http://www.en.thewitcher.com/support/

Like it or not, the number of 3D Vision users pales in comparison to the number of traditional users. We are a minority. They will not focus on fixing bugs that affect a minority unless we also submit a large amount of bug reports and make ourselves heard as a majority. We have to try.

So jump on their support page and keep submitting the bug reports, again and again if need be, for everyone's sake.

one thing is clear for me.. my i7 2600k + gtx 580 sli can only handle the game at high spec mode 1080p when 3d stereoscopic is enabled. still.. I get huge fps drop in indoor area(10-15fps) while outdoor is 30-50fps on lastest 275.33 driver. It's still very playable.. but what kills me is severe ghosting when the depth is high. at 10% depth, this game plays perfect like the way it should be.. but any higher than that, I notice severe ghosting.. This isn't noticable when camera is zoomed out during gameplay but it becomes so painful to watch when camera zooms in characters like during cutscenes... I am using acer hn274h 27 inch 3d monitor at 120hz mode.. tried every single setting but due to bad ghosting issue, i think i will just stick with 10% depth where it plays perfect.. it's a shame.. really.. coz at 100% depth, game looks amazing during gameplay(then when camera zooms in, it gets ugly with ghosting).
i already told you, the ghosting you are experiencing is not caused by the game, is caused by your monitor, the acer 27 monitor is said to produce serious ghosting due to the led backlight and the slightly improved display

Here's what I submitted in my bug report to CDPR. Feel free to cut and paste and use in your own submission.

---------------------------------------------
From an NVIDIA FAQ:
"A drop in performance with the game The Witcher 2 may be observed if the user has ever completed the NVIDIA 3D Vision Wizard, and persists even after disabling 3D Vision through the NVIDIA Control Panel. The apparent cause is that the game uses an incorrect API to check whether 3d stereo is activated with each frame."

This is affecting my system. If I enable 3D Vision on this "supposed" 3D Vision ready game, the frame drops to about 1/10 to 1/4 of what I get playing in 2D (I expect 1/2). The net effect is that the game is unplayable in stereoscopic 3D on NVIDIA's 3D Vision. If I stop the 3D NVIDIA service, load the game, alt-tab out, start the service and alt-tab back into the game, the frame rate is restored. However, all shadows are rendered incorrectly.

Please fix this in one of the following ways:
1) Correct the bug NVIDIA thinks you have in your game code.
2) As a workaround, allow the configuration tool to entirely disable shadows.

Can you please provide me with some sort of acknowledgement that this issue exists, and you are at least working on it? A projected time frame for the fix would be even better.

Yesterday I installed this game the first time, and all I can say is that I don´t like this game, I was expecting and I have a desillusion. With 275.33 whql drivers and last patched the framerate is really bad using a i7 @4gz and 460 GTX, also lowering details the framerate is low, and visually this game is not good enough to be so slow.

Also combat system is somethig not fun, and animations and control is not smooth. When controlling the character I do not feel good, only experience a choppy and stuttering situations, and overall makes me to feel nervious and do not fun.

It is really a pain to see how games policy promises that in the future, some day we will can play a game very well (like Gothic III), but the time is gold, and frustrations have no price.

Now I don´t know if I must pray to Nvidia or the Withcher 2 developers to fix the game to obtain good framerate, or maybe it is better to forget this game and center my antention in others, this game dissapoint me in some aspects. It is incredible to see how high rates games (who rates?) force users to buy and buy AND BUY hardware, and when playing these games are not so great. There is no ART in games, NO GOOD IDEAS, only a lot of poligons and textures... a lot of power to move stupid programs highly rated. We are in 2011 and still with the same things.

Well everyone is entitled to their opinions I guess. I think the game is fantastic and outside of the performance issues for me with some indoor areas, it is a 3D showcase. I am not sure what you were expecting in terms of gameplay but it is similar to the first Witcher. While I am frustrated that the game is still not working properly in 3D all the time I still like it a lot.

Just because the game is "only" a DX9 title doesn't mean it isn't taxing on the system. I expect to see some performance increases with future patches and drivers but you need to keep in mind that with 3D you are still having to render 2 full images at once and you are probably expecting too much from a single 460 GTX card to handle a game like this in 3D.

I´m comparing the experience with other games, and framerate is low. Combat system is close to Withcher 1, and it is a problem because Witcher 1 combat is very poor. Of course it is an opinion. In my opinion there are only a few number of games that are fun to play, and what I have played now say me that this is not one of them. I desire to change my opinion in the future, with patches or playing more and discovering good things,
but for now this game I would rate with 7 and no more.

PD: I do not like cinematics, I buy a game to play, when I want to watch I buy a movie. Also cinematics usually are in low quality and usually the change of the camera position is not good to see in 3D.

But the big problem is framerates and choppy animations and control. Another click+click to defeat enemies, no intelligence and no originality to include a fun combat system in a RPG game (something like combat in Warband). Square heads and no imagination, only predefined solutions to sell a product with more of the same..., but with low framerates.

Why would you buy the game knowing what you did about the first game since the sequel basically followed the way the original played, for the most part anyway?

The game is very heavy, and it's not optimised very well. The minimum to play this game at 1080p maxed without ubersampling is a GTX580, and even that can't get you constant 60 fps. Start by disabling ubersampling, SSAO and DOF, and see how it runs.

I abhor DOF and disable it every game that I play if there is an option to do so. Also, disabling ubersampling in this game should be the first tweak anyone does.

I think you have to play the game some more, there are a lot of strategy involved, and i play on insane, one life one death, thats hardcore, man i have longed for a game with that! But this thread should not discuss what we think about the actual game, its about 3d vision and bad fps.

I agree. Again, I encourage everyone to submit a trouble ticket with CDPR. Don't forget to let us all know when you have done so.
The more of us that do it, the better the odds of them fixing the poor frame rates on 3D Vision.

i already told you, the ghosting you are experiencing is not caused by the game, is caused by your monitor, the acer 27 monitor is said to produce serious ghosting due to the led backlight and the slightly improved display
It's not the monitor problem. I've checked out many reviews and most reviews said this monitor has minimum ghosting issue compared to previous generation ones from acer and asus 23.6 inch ones. Also if it's a monitor problem, why don't crysis 2 or metro 2033 don't have ghosting problem at high depth like witcher 2? at 10% depth, witcher 2 has zero ghosting issue but when I increase depth, becomes more noticable during cutscene(not on actual gameplay). It's the game problem and this game don't even have option to control convengence(in fact hotkeys ctrl + f5, f6 don't work even if I enabled them in control panel). I put 80% to 100% depth on both crysis and metro 2033 and they have no ghosting but witcher 2 has it? Can you really say it's monitor causing ghosting? Most unlikely.

Is there any official response from Nvidia, after them released the new whql driver? Nvidia said in the release notes that the
3D vision issue is a thing of the past. But this is defenitly not the truth.
