Project Cars 3D Vision

I'm looking at Project Cars. I fixed some of the shadows, but it's a weird game engine. I'll report back.

Hey Mike, Just out of curiosity, are those fixes universal? I don't actually own pCars, but I've been reading some of the Oculus DK2 impressions of this game. And it's pretty universal that they have to turn off shadows for VR. Could a person apply, in theory, these 3D Vision injector fixes and have it fix the same issues in VR? I'm not asking you to do it or anything, I just find it interesting and wonder if fixes like shadows would apply on a universal level.

I can't see why not, there should be no difference between shadows working "natively" and rendering correctly in OR/VR and shadows being fixed. But honestly, I am not a VR person (yet...) so I might be wrong.

Interesting. If you end up being able to fix it, I'll post a link on the Oculus forums and see if anyone wants to test it. It'd be cool if it did. And they have nothing to lose by trying it.

For what's it worth, I found that I could run 3Dmigoto against the game Alien:Isolation while running the DK2. That was using the game renderer instead of 3D Vision Automatic. I could find and hunt shaders normally, including CopyOnMark. Well as normally as you can while using a keyboard with strange keys enabled, and not being able to see. The upshot is that I think that the same principles should apply. Not necessarily the exact same fixes, because that will likely depend upon the specific render engine defects. 3DVAutomatic might have different bugs than native Oculus for example. For games specific flaws, it might very well be the same shader and the same fix.

A fix would be so incredible for Project Cars, I hope it works with 3d Vision!

Well, I was part of the alpha. I did my best to garner 3DVision support directly from the devs. Initially they said it would be supported, but the moment the OR DK arrived, no-one was interested, especially everyone else in the community. It did used to work nicely in CM mode (I posted screenshots ages aho) but currently, if any 3D render path is detected, the HUD is automatically disabled (which makes important info whilst driving like lap times, gaps, lap counter etc non existent) so I gave up on 3D for pCars. Hmm.. My steam account shows 417 hours logged in pCars and that excludes the initial period when it wasn't yet a steam game. Guess I enjoyed it immensely even in 2D :)

My Fix is coming along nicely. I might be able to post an alpha this weekend. 3DMigoto is doing a fine job with this game, just one decompiler error so far, that I was able to manually fix anyway. There are 3-4 different categories of fix I have found so far, so it's a case of chipping away and finding them all. It is not entirely clear from others screenshots, but shadows are actually at wrong depth, so they needed fixing as well. I had to disable part of the clouds in the sky as well, but there is another layer of clouds still there so it still looks OK.

Wow Wow Wow! Fantastic Job Mike! Does cockpit view also look that perfect? If yes, me an lots of buddies of our community are going to buy a key now. Slightly mad and Nvidia should spend a lot of money to you. I got a lot of requests via private message at our 3D Vision Board about Pcars and 3D Vision support. It´s fantastic answering with your pretty good news. Greetings, Ron

I also need to look at menus which have different bits at different depth etc. I have also not seen water yet. Its all really promising though :-)
