whenever i turn 3d vision discover on in nvidia control panel, my screen goes blank and the green led on the front goes from green to orange, as if its been put into an unsupported resolution. If i press alt-tab or the windows key (so that it minimises the 3d vision setup program) i get the screen back but nvidia contol panel has frozen, to unfreeze it i have to right click the 3d setup program in the taskbar and manually close it. If i maximise the setup program instead of closing it, the screen goes blank again.
i have a CRT screen running in 1280x1024, a gefore 9800gtx and a pair of red & blue glasses.
am i right in thinking that 3d discover works on all displays but 3d vision (with active glasses) only works on 100hz+ displays?

Yeah, you definately should be able to run the discover mode on any old monitor. I've tried it on an old projector and a 26" LCD monitor and both work great with it! Sorry I can't offer much in the way of support, but I can reassure you that it does seem like you're trying something that should work fine, so keep at it! It took me ~5 hours to get my 3D vision kit working on the first day, but it was worth it in the end!

Thanks for your reply, its good to know that im not wasting my time by trying to get it to work on incompatible equipment.
Its as if its trying to start the 3d wizard in a resolution thats higher than my monitor can support
