VIEWSONICE PJD6211 (PJD6220)- SET UP PROBLEMS CANNOT GET IT / THEM TO WORK ?
1 / 7
After taking the plunge and purchasing the 3D Vision kit and Viewsonic PJ, (surreptitiously I might add as the wife does not know yet)
I was like a child on Christmas eve all of this week waiting for it all to arrive.
Both arrived yesterday (from Dabs and Projectorpoint),..Great !!! so I leave work early………
And I then processed to spend the best part of 6 hours last night , into the wee hours, in a desperate attempt to get this to work.
Alas,…. I failed miserably……I nearly cried…really…3d gaming is the Shangri-la for me………more like hell now !!!! ïŒ
…………………………………….to the issue…………………………..
I 1st tried the bundled GFX card and stereo drivers, which I subsequently found out not to be compatible with the Viewsonic PJ.
So I then down load the new ones from Nvidia , “NVIDIA 3D Vision CD v1.09â€,
But still the same issue.
The set up wizard does not detect my PJ,….so…..i simply answer the test manually , working out what the left & right eye should be seeing and select “CRT†device.,…
But this simply does not work as none of the test or applications (games) work in 3d.
I am desperate for this to work and would be eternally grateful to anyone who can please give me a guiding light !!

After u tried the old drivers on the disc did u do a clean install on the 1.09 drivers? If not try downloading driversweeper and clean it out properly.

I'm afraid you might have some issues with this projector.

If the drivers are not picking up the projector, make sure you are using the vga cable that came WITH the projector.
It seems this PJ has trouble syncing to 120hz signals and not using it's own short cable makes it almost impossible.
In your device manager, make sure it is showing up as a generic PNP monitor.
I am using the Viewsonic VGA cable (although i was'nt at 1st at its sooooo short,...ive now had to lift my PC off the floor to reach it....a minor inconvenience if i get it working)
I am using a DVI to VGA adaptor as my 8800 GT's are DVI outs...nothing new there....this i would assume would not make a jot of differecne as the PJ does not have a DVI in and they would obviously know this if the say it's "Nvidia compatible" ?
Im off home now so will spend the next 8 hours in my games room trying, hopefully succfessflly to get this sorted.
oh please let it work......
if not,... its going back.......as the reason i purchaed this ( coupled with the joy on the faces of the people who were using them on the mirad of YouTube Tech video's)....... was that it was not like the old ELSA solution and was "plug & play"....yeah right......

If You want to ask Nvidia here is the only way:
http://nvidia.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/nvidia....ser/std_alp.php
Also, I did read once that not ALL DVI to VGA adapters connect all the correct pins to enable the driver to recognise the monitor. Not sure if this is true ir not.
If when you go in to device manager it says something like generic NON pnp monitor then you might want to try another DVI to VGA adapter thing.
I did have to reinstall windows before I got it working at all but you might not have to. I had a lot of useless stuff installed which might have caused conflicts.
And...if the setup wizard does not recognise the PJ then I don't think you will get any further trying to set it up manually. The driver NEEDS to know you are using that PJ for it to work.
I hope you have success, i'm keen to know how you get on.....good luck.

Dude, I think u missed what I mean by clean install. First open up your hardware manager and right click on your display adapter and hit delete, but don't let it restart automatic click restart later and then go to the Nvidia folder on your c: and delete the driver folder. Now that is done you can restart in safe mode and run the driversweeper. After that when u reboot back into normal windows when u check In your display adapter it should say generic or something but as long as it doesn't say 8800gt your good. Finaly u can go forward with your clean install.
I know it might sound silly but I have had ridiculous problems in the past that were all related to bad driver installs. Hope this helps u out buddy.

Sorry you didn't have any joy with this. I was in your exact same position 7 days ago and no amount of friggin' helped.

I have since tried the solution as kindly suggested by Vtectrini but same issue.
im now convinced its the PJ.
when i go into the wizard at 60 hz there is no "blinking" but when i change it to 120 hz it keeps blinking and showing me the bloody birds splash screen......fecking things.......
Dogcam,.....what became of your issue ?.....did you mange to resolve ?
and how much are the DepthQ's ?.......i may consider getting one of those if i can siphon some more money out of the joint !!

Hi
Currently our driver doesnt support this model of projector. Can you tell me if this projector model was a recent purchase and was marketed as "3D" on the end of the monitor? A link to the place where you bought it would be useful.

mmmm....thats intersting as there is a miriad of website and threads where this is sated as compatible with your 3D vision solution ?
I pucrhaes it from a UK re-seller who claimed to be an authorised Viewsonic reseller and they assured me it was compatible with 3D vison. (all of the p/work and box etc , even the PJ it self, state "3D ready"
all of the tech website and reviews state that this PJ is compatible with the Nvidia 3d soltion so i am utterely flabbagasted that im now told that it is not ! ?
just a couple of the many many many websites that claim it is ?
May i please ask you to confirm is this is correct and if so do you plan to bring out a driver that is , (i thought the PJD6220 & PJD6210 are essesntially the same PJ ?)
if this is indeed true, then both Nvidia and Viewsonic are not going to do them selves a lot of favours credabilty wise if all of the people who have purchaed both hardware cannot used them !

But i will try that as i've not used a tool to remove drivers before.
i will try everything and anytrhing to get this wo work.

I have, using DRIVER CLEANER PRO , removed both the GFX drivers and Stereo drivers and from the 109 CD download, reinstalled both.
Also downloaded upto date PJ driver from VS = "GENERIC PNP MONITOR......."
ALSO down loaded a Patch to force the refresh rate to 120 hz, but to no avail !
Setup utility still does not detect my PJ and i guess does not sync to it , even when i "frig" it.... (old english term !! (see sex pistols)).
I am now desperate to get this working after reading yet more reviews of people who are able to get it working !
Could it be that this PJ, although Nvidia claim it is , simply is not compatible ?
I did notice that when i go into the setup wizard, the refresh rate drops back to 60hz , no matter what i do ?......
equally, could the PJ possibly be faulty......out of the box ?.....
i had though about contacting Viewsonic, but from what i read there support network is abject !
i see a refund on both in the distance.....which is not really what i want to do.
your help is very much appreciated !

Thanks for reply.
mmmm....thats intersting as there is a miriad of website and threads where this is sated as compatible with your 3D vision solution ?
I pucrhaes it from a UK re-seller who claimed to be an authorised Viewsonic reseller and they assured me it was compatible with 3D vison. (all of the p/work and box etc , even the PJ it self, state "3D ready"
see link.

all of the tech website and reviews state that this PJ is compatible with the Nvidia 3d soltion so i am utterely flabbagasted that im now told that it is not ! ?
just a couple of the many many many websites that claim it is ?

May i please ask you to confirm is this is correct and if so do you plan to bring out a driver that is , (i thought the PJD6220 & PJD6210 are essesntially the same PJ ?)
if this is indeed true, then both Nvidia and Viewsonic are not going to do them selves a lot of favours credabilty wise if all of the people who have purchaed both hardware cannot used them !
again , your help in very much appreciated.
