Panasonic 3D ready plasma TV's - My choice, pending actually getting to see them in action.

Samsung 3D LCD's and Plasma's

Next set of dollars are going to a real TV, not a monitor. :) Very excited to see if these new TV's do a better job with 3D than the monitors being foisted off on us right now as 3D ready. I suspect TV manufacturers are a little more aware that they will get roasted for glaring A/V issues like the top/bottom ghosting issues we've had to fight with, so hopes are high.

Yes, yes..... and YES! /yes.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

I think i beautiful 32'' widescreen 3 feet from my face is in order /devil.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />. I really really hope they don't ghost like this little samsung im typing through :P I do think that the industry will be well aware of samsungs 3d ventures, lets hope they are equally prepared. I think your right, the tv industry would not easily get away with the volumes of complaints that a bad product would kick up...

Hell, are there even any movies out to see yet ?? lol, well i suppose nobody would buy any UNTIL they actually own a screen which does 3d... visa-versa, gotta start somewhere! :)

No one has confirmed that these will work with 3d vision. I know Samsung is releasing their own shutter glasses. I'm taking a wait and see approach before taking the plunge.

If these TV's don't end up working with 3D vision, nVidia should just close up shop on this whole thing. These TV's are going to be the operating 3D standard for years to come.

I believe that these tv sets are 120hz input, therefore, should work with 3d vision... correct me if i'm wrong.

Yes, but I'm not dropping $2500 on a tv until nVidia or someone else verifies that it works.

Well, I stopped by the Union Square BestBuy to see the Panasonic display, but not only did the sales associate not know what 3d Vision is, he also didn't know if the unit accepted a 120Hz signal or if it had a dual-link DVI connector. Basically, all he knew about it was that it's "three-dee" (minimum wage ftw!). They also did not have any boxed units in stock that I could check the specs on, only the display unit on the wall. I did manage to check out the side connections and saw HDMI & USB, but no DVI. It's mounted on the wall, though, so there's no telling what's on the back.

The glasses did appear to be standard active-shutter glasses just like nvidia's, though, so I'd say there's a good chance the set accepts a 120Hz signal.

I'll check back in there next week and see if they actually have a box I can check out or a sales manager or something who might actually know something about what they're selling.

It's likely to be HDMI only and conformant to HDMI 1.4 3d specs, which handle pretty much every 3d format you can think of, including frame alternation like 3D vision uses. In theory it should work. In practice, we'll soon see what the glitches are, if any.

Yeah, problem is the one picture we've seen of Fermi specs are HDMI 1.3a, not 1.4 /confused.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> But let's hope that's incorrect, I'd be very disappointed in nvidia if they held out on HDMI 1.4 connectivity to control which monitors we're able to use their solution with.

Maybe someone will make a converter box to go from dual-DVI to HDMI 1.4 if Fermi doesn't have HDMI 1.4 onboard.

I believe there's some forward level of compatibility with HDMI 1.4 from 1.3a, so I'm not that worried. We'll see how it goes.

Here's what Best Buy has spammed me so far, and it looks seriously doubtful if our 3D vision PC setups (and also my Lite-On BluRay drive) will work based on what I've seen with this new "Full HD 3D" format:
