OK, weird. Just for a data point, running that released driver of 352.86, I'm still having success with no black death sweeping across the land.
Since this is working for me, that's an existence proof of sorts that it can be done, we just don't know what makes it happen.
Here is my example from the Sonoma track where I'd see the black death every time on this turn, at distance.

I haven't really played this game, so I don't know if that's what you need or not. If I've missed something let me know and I'll find it.
Specs in signature. This is using Mike's alpha3 release, and 3Dmigoto 1.1.6. pCars64.exe (1.0.1.1) Update maybe?
I still think this is driver related, because when I was running on 350.12 I saw this problem.
Thanks bo3b, I'll check out your settings. I am going to put alpha0.04 out before I go on vacation, or perhaps put it out as a beta on Helixmod, and will update the release notes for this.

bo3b your settings are different to mine but I will try them out tonight. The Shadow that follows you is definitely still there for me (using the latest Witcher 3 drivers) however it doesn't cast over the road and only remains on terrain and barriers but less subtle than before.

UPDATED ALPHA, 0.04
Attatched is an updated alpha fix. I include release notes, but the main addition (aside from fixing more shaders) is the inclusion of the "V" key as a toggle between fixing the different o screen HUDs. If the HUD of your choice looks messed up, press "C" and it will probably bring it to screen depth (or perhaps all the same depth).
You still need to use the exe hack.
I recommend driver 352.68.
I am going on vacation on Friday so won't be updating this for a couple of weeks.

Here's a slight variant for people who are really daring. pCars_3Dmigoto_Alpha0.04+1.1.6.7z
I tested this 7z unpack on pCars here, driver 352.68, and it worked, including the HUD and no shadow across the land. There is some variance between Mike and my systems because this doesn't work for Mike.
I only raced at Sonoma, but this is looking fantastic! Go, go, go!
This takes Mike's 0.04-alpha shaders and includes the 1.1.6 version of 3Dmigoto, with the d3dx.ini set to show the HUD, so that you don't need to edit the exe.
If this doesn't work, use Mike's version.
If that doesn't work, try Flugan's version with just the ShaderFixes folder.
Please let us know if it works or does not work, feedback helps us narrow down problems.

i tried your first just for curiosity, when loading the game, i get windows error message stating D3DCompiler_46_org.dll cant be found, although it is in the same location as the rest of the fix, closing the box down, still boots up the game and your fix still works, what i also noticed is that all my configuration changed, and in previous discussions i stated that the title screen was moving in sort of slow motion, i checked the gfx option and turning anti-alaising down from x16 to tri-linar instantly sort the issue, tested the game, and no issues at all,
every-time i boot the game i still get that D3DCompiler_46_org error but it doesn't seem to cause any problems,

My mistake- I updated the same link there after adding the D3DCompiler_46. Game doesn't need it but 3Dmigoto does. Thanks for the heads up.

The 1.1.6 is causing a unhandled exception error at launch and the program will not start. See attached screenshot. Also has the spiking model problem been fixed? as I still see it in mike's 0.0.4a patch.

The problem I am having with the spikey bits sticking out of cars, is that I am no longer seeing this, so I can't track down what it is that needs to be fixed, or why it's happening.
I will need someone to help this down by running the game with "shader hunting = 1" in the d3dx.ini file and then cycling the Pixel Shaders using the Num1 and Num2 keys to find which shader is causing it, then saving with Num3 and send the saved shader to me.

Alpha 4
Mikes with Flugan's wrapper - Black shadow is back again over track and the stretched hands is also back and when playing in exterior view when turning the wheel the spikes appear through the roof. Additionally with Win 8.1 the system unresponsiveness still occurs when launching the game for a second time.
"V" key as a toggle between fixing the different o screen HUDs. If the HUD of your choice looks messed up, press "C" and it will probably bring it to screen depth (or perhaps all the same depth).
Pressing V just moved the HUD slightly to the left or right, not sure if that was what it was meant to do.
Pressing C just brought up different telemetry views, it didn't alter depth. Not sure if that was what it was meant to do.
There were transparency issues with the bottom HUD, it was showing the white lines and road through it.
Bo3bs with Flugan's wrapper. Game just stays at the loading screen when I click race and doesn't load a game. System restart is needed.
Edit - Just noticed you're not using 352.86 Mike but recommend 352.68, so I will try that tomorrow. Have a nice Holiday also. Enjoy your vacation.

Hi - I can confirm that I *am* using 352.86, sorry for the confusion.
Something is just not right for you, but I can't say what. Just ensure that you delete entirely the earlier shaderfixes folder. If you have NVidia shader cache turned on in control panel, turn it off.
The "C" key is a game key and was always there. I added the "V" key. If all it is doing is moving the HUD to the side, something has gone badly wrong. It toggles the HUD depth because the two main HUD views (the standard one with mirror etc, and the telemetry one) are displayed at different depths, so the toggle brings each of them them to screen depth.
If the bottom hud is showing transparency then I guess that is what the game does - run it in 2D and check.
When you say "Bob's with Flugans wrapper", that is not correct - bo3b develops the 3DMigoto wrapper and Flugan develops the Flugan wrapper, and both of these work with the shaderfixes I wrote. Flugans wrapper works with Win8.1.
Sorry I won't be any help for a couple of weeks, hopefully someone else on here can help you sort it out. That being said, this *is* and alpha fix, and it is entirely likely that there are several genuine cases of spikey rendering, but like I said I am not seeing it in order to fix it :-(

I'll take a look at the spikey cars problem, because I see that often on my current setup. I'll track down the shader and figure out what's wrong, because it's very likely to be a Decompiler bug.
Thanks for trying the 1.1.6 variant. I've seen that crash with pCars in the past, but not for awhile now.

Looks like the culprit is the evil update: KB 2670838. If you get a crash with the 1.1.6 or 1.1.8 version, check if you have this update installed. I've apparently introduced an unwanted dependency upon that update, so for now it needs to be installed.

Also has the spiking model problem been fixed? as I still see it in mike's 0.0.4a patch.
win7x64/3770k/gtx680/352.86
The problem I am having with the spikey bits sticking out of cars, is that I am no longer seeing this, so I can't track down what it is that needs to be fixed, or why it's happening.
I will need someone to help this down by running the game with "shader hunting = 1" in the d3dx.ini file and then cycling the Pixel Shaders using the Num1 and Num2 keys to find which shader is causing it, then saving with Num3 and send the saved shader to me.

Mikes with Flugan's wrapper - Black shadow is back again over track and the stretched hands is also back and when playing in exterior view when turning the wheel the spikes appear through the roof. Additionally with Win 8.1 the system unresponsiveness still occurs when launching the game for a second time.

Great! Thanks for the report. This is a strange one, since it works well on my system and works for you, but crashes for maomao using very similar setup. Software is hard.
