If, IF!, this is correct, and the 2080Ti is an equal jump over 1080 Ti, then it MIGHT be worth the price tag...

Going from my 980ti to a 2080ti I’m hoping for at least a 100% increase in performance. I don’t know for sure rage demon but that’s the way I heard it. It is ridiculous that they didn’t do any FPS benchmarks without ray tracing comparing Turing and pascal. I should imagine they’ll be out soon. The starwars raytracing demo that ran in real time on 4 Titan V’s was running faster on a single 2080ti! It’ll be fucking bonkers, faster RAM, new architecture, more CUDA Cores, tensor cores etc. I wonder if they can use that neural engine AI shizzle and train the AI with this community’s 3D vision fixes to fix future games? EDIT Battlefield V raytracing demo...... https://www.pcgamer.com/heres-how-battlefield-5-looks-with-nvidia-rtx-effects/

AFAIK these cards don't have DVI ports, any solution for those of us with monitors that only have DVI ports for 3d gaming?

Heard about them but they are like 100 euro, pretty expensive, I was hoping there was already a better solution. Still it looks like 2070 will have native dvi port so I'll get that one to replace my current 1070.

Here is a great architectural overview of the new cards. It's a little sketchier than their usual because the details have not been released by NVidia. https://www.anandtech.com/show/13249/nvidia-announces-geforce-rtx-20-series-rtx-2080-ti-2080-2070 It's super interesting that they are pushing toward ray-tracing. We will need to wait and see if ray tracing makes it into 3D Vision Automatic. The ray tracing won't make a big impact on games for at least a couple of years, because it's hard to integrate new technology into these giant game engines.

IIRC, DVI and HDMI are the same connector except without sound. Unsure how true that is after countless revisions, but from what I recall, the adapter cost was ~£/$5 because it used to be passive pass-through.

Just came up because I was curious whats peoples consensus on it. For first time ever I think I am going to skip. I generally wind up in okay shape by selling fast and finding cheapest brand cards [$200 average lose] but the margins I think are going to be too steep this time around for first time around. This whole release is pretty sketchy. I think that NVIDIA rushed a lineup because they know AMD's release is no where near now and its a free market where they can name the price. HDMI 2.1 is going to pretty much require if not a release a "generation refresh" to cover the basis as well as AMDs 2019 release. Wait for benchmarks at the very least.

Will be waiting for 3rd party benchmarks as well. I don't like the way they have presented the performance gains this far, but I am hoping I can just go for a single card solution this time around SLI is taking more and more work to get results and which often introduce glitches as well. As long as I get decent performance in the 60fps range in 3dvision at 1440p with high settings in all 3dvision games that's all I care about and that's what I basically have got now depending on SLI scaling at the extreme end.

It's really great to see people here seeing through their marketing, and calling them out on their "benchmarks"! For what it's worth, I have 2 cards from different manufacturers - One on which the fans are always on, and the other which is programmed to have its fans completely stop unless it reaches a certain temperature. If you might be buying a new card, I would personally recommend one of the cards which has fans programmed to completely stop when under a certain temperature - It's not a noise or energy saving issue, but rather, I have noticed significant dust build-up on my card which is always on, requiring dismantling the heatsink and thorough cleaning / liquid metal re-paste. The card which only comes on when being utilises - it still looks pristine after 2 years. This is in a full tower ATX case with dust filters, albeit sitting on the floor where it does tend to pick up floor-dust. If they are the same price, then why not get one which will require less maintenance, and if OC'd, will remain more stable? :)
