Realtek and BF2---Need driver that works! DRIVERS!!!
i know there have been issues with realtek, bf2, and microphones, so can someone who has realtek tell me how they got their mics to work, and what driver they used or are using?

I searched the BF2s.com forum for Realtek and mic:

* For All those with REALTEK AC97 audio/voip problems
It's due to the fact that the hardware acceleration is on FULL
try changing it to basic in control panel > sounds and audio devices > clicking on advanced, then performance tab and changing it to basic
that made voip work without cutting off in the game after 2 mins
the downfall to this is that my surround sound back speakers are disabled, so it's a trade off with it
this is due to a compatibility issue with the realtek ac97 (its on ea's website)

so voila, voip solved. hope this helps, and i think im gonna get another cheap soundcard just for mic In so that i can have my surround working... or hopefully that works.

* I'm having issues with VOIP voice chat and the Realtek AC97, how do i fix that?

The best known method to fix this is currently to go to Start -> Run, type dxdiag, go to the Audio tab and then move the Acceleration slider down to Basic.

Battlefield 2 is very picky about microphones, and will only use a microphone that is plugged directly into your sound card. My old USB microphone did not work in game for this reason.

* One thing you should make sure of is that your sound input device is set correctly in the control panel.
To do this, open the sounds and audio devices panel in the control panel, and go to to the audio tab. There are two fields, sound playback and sound recording. Make sure the sound recording is set to whatever your microphone is plugged in to.

I do not know if battlefield 2 will accept sound input from the motherboard sound ports, but my gut says no. You might be better off getting a dedicated sound card.
