What is the cause of flicker/glitches ?
Hi. My system is:
Nvidia 6800 TD 128MB, PIV 2.8, Asus P4P800 motherboard, 2x512 DDR-400, Sblaster XFI Xtrememusic. I have Edimensional wired and wireless glasses, and a Samsung 997MB Crt monitor, usually at 1024x768 @ 100hz.

The most compatible and problems-free driver for my system is 71.89, but new drivers usually gives more performance with new games. Now I have 93.71 combo installed, and this is a good driver in performance, but I have flickers in some important games (flickers or glitch, I´m not sure how to describe, is for me something like if you are with low battery in your edimensional wireless glasses and you loose the signal a lot of times... 3 or 4 each second).

Flickers/glitches happend with new combo drivers, 93.71 or 91.31 gives me this problem, but if I uninstall and install 71.89 I have no flickers. What is the reason?.... I want the speed of 93.71 and the flicker-free of 71.89.

Be happy.

Teste ED activator.exe (from edimensional homepage (I hope is working with new drivers?).

Do you see the flicker with the naked eye?

Try turning antialiasing off.

Klingon Academy gets terrible shaky screen and sync loss when AA is on. Turning AA off isn't that big a deal - but KA needs it to play properly!

EDimensional activator exe?..... I understand that this exe is usefull if you use the edimensional ATI drivers (I´m using Nvidia stereo drivers).

Chopper, it is like if I lose the stereo very quickly and I return and lose repeatedly, with both eyes at the same time. It happend only with some games using new drivers, but with 71.89 all games work without this problem (so it is not hardware problem).

With recent stereo drivers, some games works without problem, other games are impossible to be played (GTR 2), and other are playables but with this disadvantage.

All test are done with antialiasing off.

The activator isn't a driver.

It's forces your glasses to sync at a hardware level, and ignores the instructions from the NVIDIA driver.

If your screen shakes and flickers with the naked eye (in stereo mode), this won't help.

If the screen is steady with the naked eye, and you only see flashes while you are wearing the glasses, this should solve your problem.

Ok, with Edimensional activator I never lose the sync, but stereo sometimes is good and other times not. It is strange... sometimes convergence and separation changes and the 3d effect is very poor. Sometimes Ctrl+t gives a good 3D and other not (¿?).

I run ED activator, select "Page Flip", "Stereo On-Resync", "LCD Mdde off".
Then I start a game, and into the game I press ctrl+t.

Which game(s)?

I've seen your name before - do you need any explanation of how to use the stereo drivers, or is it old hat to you?

Whats up mopheta, when I had my 6800 ,with the NV40 core, I had the flickering on many games. I ran riva tuner to record temps and noticed that , with the stereo driver on, the GPU temps never stopped raising. I installed an AC NV silencer and seated it with arctic silver and it tamed the problem down quite a bit.

BTW, did you ever get the Z800? If so, did you like it?

I know how to use Stereo drivers.

With 71.89 combo all games using stereo3D works perfectly, and I´m thinking to retur to this combo (but performance in some games is slow). The problem is with 9x.xx combos.

I have a PIV CPU 2,8 with a big zalman cooler and it is not oveclocked, so temp is always good. Same with my Nvidia 6800, with another zalman cooler for GPU and memories. Temperature is not the problems here.

If I use 71.89 all works fine, and if I use 9x.xx I see flickers/glitches.

Now I have installed 93.71 combo, and the games I am testing (without using ED.exe activator):

- Doom3 (no problem, all is ok).
- Farcry (some flickers, but playable).
- GTR2 (not playable due to continues flickers and screen corruptions in the upper zone of the screen).
- Flight Simulator 2004 (some flickers, playable but not very confortable).
- F1 Challenge (no problem, all is ok).
- Mafia (some flickers, but playable).
- Richard Burns Rally (some flickers, but playable).
- IL2 Sturmovik (masive corruptions of the screen and flickers).

Using ED.exe solve me the flickers/glitches (I don´t know how to name), but then the Nvidia driver doensn´t work properly.... I´m playing and without touching any key the perspective changes and the convergence and separation changes. If I press ctrl+t sometimes gives me the correct memorized position previously saved (with ctrl+f7), and other times gives me a totally bad position of convergence and separation. This only happend if I use ED.exe activator.

The 78.01 drivers worked fine with my 6800GT, maybe You should give them a try?

Must I rename "forceware" to call "focebuy"?.... forcebuy a new card if you want to use new force drivers.

The perspective changes is reversing in R/L orientation of stereo, i use wired glasses ang have no this problems (use only 6600 and 77.77combo).
I think the old drivers are better.

with my Elsa Revelator and GeForce2MX

71.84 / stereo:71.84 - no stereo at all (???)
77.77 / stereo:77.77 - no stereo at all (???)
91.47 / stereo:91.47 - flicker
93.71 / stereo:93.71 - flicker (although it might seem a bit less, not sure)

Dammit. I don't get it. Interrupts are missing or delayed?
And I'm only trying to play a stereoscopic movie over local network. When I copy the movie beforehand to local IDE HDD, the flickering seems to have constant intervals.

Resolution and frequency doesn't really matter.
After some mode switching I get a nice bluescreen.
