No mention of 3D vision in new driver Highlights / Changelogs

Nvidia was always pretty silent on the 3D Vision forum but whenever a major new game came out that touted 3D Vision support Andrew would at least make a thread on it. We got nothing with Metro:Last Light. Does anyone know of a single upcoming game that says it supports 3D Vision because I can't think of any. My feeling is that the corporate drones at Nvidia have decided to no longer put money into 3D Vision or at least as little as they have to. It is obvious they are looking to branch out into other areas with things like SHIELD and the like. They would be foolish to come out and flat out say they are giving up on pushing 3D Vision since they continue to sell the kits they have and are minimally supporting it with driver releases.

I been complaining about it for months, its not even that they arent supporting 3D vision. They arent supporting games in general which is where we get 3D vision titles come from. Like there was metro/assassins creed 3/Black ops 2[very lame in both features/3d], borderlands 2[KINDA. Its doesnt really have added features. Just the better UE3. Just heavy use of physx which is included with the build]/Max payne 3. Now considering the games they did sponsor we mostly got an attempt at 3d vision support but the amount of games they have done is quite low.
They also sponsored those 3 mmo's [which i hold little interest in] guild wars 2, Secret World, Neverwinter and all three did have support.
Well they did write all that stuff about about 3d vision for metro last light. Like on product pages they wrote special 3d vision "buy-ins". They may of not wrote anything because they advertised it as 3d vision ready[its not]. I think the game went over well because of chiri's unlocker. If that wasnt around if they made a topic it would just be a rant page.
3d vision could possible end but I've seen no evidence of it. Games compatiblitity is just getting more and more shitty as games get more advanced. People are seeing DX11 as end of all things because its an unknown right now. And though they havent been doing nearly enough in the games they put money into we have gotten some form of support[or an attempt at support] in every game with the exception of assassins creed 3.
In all honesty, in the last year we have had more developers IMPROVE games for 3D then any other. Now the problem is that its getting to the point where compatibility in games without any improvements are just unplayable. The main problem is 3d vision as a software has never been updated since its conception.

It's hard to tell if it will be good or bad. There is definitely some sort of change afoot, and the lack of driver profiles is part of that internal change.
Pretty much every game I've looked at in the past year, including something ancient like Psychonauts has a bad profile. In this example, the profile that comes in the current driver puts halos around all the characters. If you use the Aion profile, there are no halos. In recent drivers, there is no profile for Psychonauts at all, it comes up with "Not rated." Previously it was rated, and as Excellent. Now it's no longer in the control panel compatibility list, but it is on the website.
That's a level of sloppiness and incompetence that is truly hard to understand.
I've worked in big software corporations a lot, and this has all the hallmarks of a group that is getting no attention internally. Just keeps getting worse and worse as the good people leave, until you reach a stage where it just blows up. That day might be today.
It's hard to tell if it's good or bad. It's good if they blow up the group and do something better. It's bad if they blow it up and don't do anything further with it, although it's hard for me to see how it could actually get much worse.
Now having said that, I don't think things are actually that bad for playing in 3D Vision. Yes, NVidia is not helping here at all, and sometimes actually causing harm, but if I ignore that, my actual game time is genuinely superb, impressive, amazing.
That of course comes from the amazing Helix mod and the fixes possible. But never forget that NVidia made Helix Mod possible by publishing their APIs. They could have locked those down under NDA, and they didn't.
They also support or at least don't hinder some developers like 4A with Metro, where it's pretty damn good. If the developers care, they can still do a good job.
At present, even if they stop selling or supporting 3D Vision altogether, I have at least 2 years worth of gaming I have yet to touch.
I always suggest buying for the present, not the future. The future is fuzzy and doesn't look that good, but the present is easily worth the price of admission.

Neah.. I can bet my whole system 3D Vision is not going to die...
Judging by the facts:
We had Titan Launch 3 months ago
We had GTX780 launch just a few days ago WHICH signifies the start of a new "AGE":
- New GPU "Series"
- New Driver incrementation 320xx
- New driver layout/format
- Geforce Experience
- BAD 320.14 Beta Drivers(a mess)
- BAD 320.18 WHQL Drivers(the same mess)
nVidia is re-organizing
Their focus is on the new flagship GPU and new driver series (that affects everyone). 3D Vision profiles is the last on their list. I also believe that there never was a team for "Profile writing". I think they break down games between the 3D Vision division and each member tested a game and wrote a profile (since I saw alot of inconsistency in the profile documentation/methodology etc indicating that certain profiles where written by totally different people and backgrounds)
At least this is my view. As for 3D Vision I expect we will get news very soon. Have a feeling about it;))

Lol. People were saying hop onto 700 series on a different thread and I said what leads you to believe they are gonna have a solid release. 600 series was a mess for 2 months and they didnt even have these 3 new softwares. My 580's were outperforming my 680's in so many games for a while, thats not even mentioning the 100 page thread about the stuttering issue [It got taken down when nvidia got hacked lol. Not saying thats why but I guess they decided to take care of a little house keeping]. Not only that but each time a card is released its harder and harder to support old games. Who cares about how well it will play games six months from now when you are buying it now.
so you're telling me that the users of this forum can do 3D vision fixes based on Helix mod, yet Nvidia's employees cannot and what's more, they even manage to break 3D vision for games?
Yes, that's exactly what I'm saying.
Latest driver breaks the profile for Diablo, which is easily fixed by using Prototype profile:

guys, my question is a rhetorical one.
mainly it was an reaction to bo3b's hopeful thought on Nvidia's "hidden plan" for improved future 3D vision support.
just trying to say that Nvidia do not deserve any sort of benefit of the doubt -- they have not only stopped supporting 3D vision but also ripped profit off of community effort.
I think they'll just keep selling/advertising 3D vision products as long as Helix mod community keeps ditching out game fixes...

Heh! Did not catch that you were being facetious. I describe it as "forum posts and emails have no eyebrows".
It was too priceless that they just busted Diablo.
Overall, I don't really disagree that they don't deserve much credit. But, I'm just happy to see some sort of movement there. It looks like a re-org, and that at least is change.

Nvidia is too busy trying to win the mobile market with their Tegra chips and are losing touch with the rest of their business. However I fail to see Tegra going anywhere since it has only a few temporary exclusives and it doesn't look much better than the competition, besides the Shield at $350 is like a watching a portable Titanic ready to hit a huge iceberg.
Right now I can only hope the recent news about xbox one supporting 3d http://www.theverge.com/2013/5/23/4359788/xbox-one-3d-4k-content-support and being directx 11.1 from the get go (supposedly makes games 3d ready) could help some kind of 3d comeback.

I don't understand the anger. Nvidia doesn't have an obligation to support 3D forever. Hopefully we're just in a lull while the company tries some new things, but it's a company and it's business. Don't take it personally.
Just get an AMD card for your next upgrade if you feel they have better support. It's 3D that matters, not the company offering it.

I spose when people spend money on a certain thing thats gash these days they have a right tbe angry/upset.
I myself have'nt hardly played any 3d games for god knws how long.
Recently for no reason at all i upgraded my samsung ps51e65000 that cost me £800 ( sold for £400 ) and got a ps51e800o ( £1100 ) plasma for checkerboard even though nvidia has'nt had a working game in ages apart from the very odd 1 or 2.
So thats nearly £1500 just to get what nvdia has and the tv didnt even support checkerboard.
It allso has twice the amont of 2d nput lag as the e6500 and 3d gaming s out the question for me as it has input lag 3d pinball fx ect is very hard and crap to play where as teh e6500 felt it had same 2d and 3d nput lag !
I've sacked 3d gaming thats for sure !
It's been that long and that gash now that i believe now i have plasma's i'll not bther with 3d as it's just not working properly today and in the recent past, after all a good plasma will give you a 120hz feeling and with no blur and at 60hz with 60fps, it's win win for me now 3d has one, i do'nt need a xy 120hz monitor as my 51 plasma looks exactly the same bt with much better colours.
I do knw 100% if it comes time to upgrade and Nvidia dont have anythng for s then i will go amd if they are cheaper and better than vda's offerngs.
3d is out the window for me nowadays even though awhle back i'd refuse to play a game untill it worked n 3d, well as that does'nt happen anymore i just play 2d.
Simples :'(

Well, people have the right to buy what they want and feel and express what they want. But, I think uncertainty of future support comes with the territory. We're buying hardware, not a lifetime contract. It's not like Nvidia is going to flip a switch and we're never going to be able to play current or older games in 3D anymore on our current hardware.
By all means, we should ditch one company for another if there are greener 3D pastures. I think before buying in, we should be at peace with the fact that that's the way technologies and companies evolve.

I think what you're overlooking is that the vast majority of new titles (with a few notable exceptions) are perfectly playable in 3d, after Helix, DHR, eqzitara, b3b and others get their hands on them.

Sounds like you're more committed to a company, Nvidia, than the technology they're offering, 3D. I can understand where your anger is coming from. I'd like nothing more than for Nvidia to announce tomorrow that they're giving up mobile and putting all their chips into 3D. But that's because I love 3D, rather than have any special love for a company.
I'm afraid you're setting yourself up to be upset again with AMD when they inevitably can't meet unrealistic expectations.
Rather than demonizing Nvidia, I think we should bolster 3D itself. Let companies know, whether it's Nvidia or AMD, that 3D loyalty matters to us more than brand loyalty.

Started a thread about going to AMD and tell them about how much we love 3D Gaming just to let them know we are many out there who are crazy about it and I say im gladely will join the red team if they will push 3d as the fuckers at nvidia just takes our money and dont give a shit about anything it seems gaming anymore!
So yeah im angry as many are and you are right one shouldent be commited to a company but as these A-Holes treating us their buyers they deserves everyting they can get.

Have a feeling about it;))

guys, my question is a rhetorical one.
mainly it was an reaction to bo3b's hopeful thought on Nvidia's "hidden plan" for improved future 3D vision support.
just trying to say that Nvidia do not deserve any sort of benefit of the doubt -- they have not only stopped supporting 3D vision but also ripped profit off of community effort.
I think they'll just keep selling/advertising 3D vision products as long as Helix mod community keeps ditching out game fixes...
epenny size =/= nerdiness
It was too priceless that they just busted Diablo.
Overall, I don't really disagree that they don't deserve much credit. But, I'm just happy to see some sort of movement there. It looks like a re-org, and that at least is change.

Right now I can only hope the recent news about xbox one supporting 3d http://www.theverge.com/2013/5/23/4359788/xbox-one-3d-4k-content-support and being directx 11.1 from the get go (supposedly makes games 3d ready) could help some kind of 3d comeback.
All hail 3d modders DHR, MasterOtaku, Losti, Necropants, Helifax, bo3b, mike_ar69, Flugan, DarkStarSword, 4everAwake, 3d4dd and so many more helping to keep the 3d dream alive, find their 3d fixes at http://helixmod.blogspot.com/ Also check my site for spanish VR and mobile gaming news: www.gamermovil.com
