Here's something interesting I found about the "rainbow" problem.

But, when I switched to resolutions fully supported by the monitor, the rainbow effect went away. The game is battlezone 2 and I'm using a GTX 260 216. It does it on every game. It's more obvious on some games than others. It's nothing to do with vertical sync, it's a manufacturing fault of the LCD. The uniformity of the grey is really bad on mine and the pattern you see in the video is because of the bad uniformity.

Checkout the link, it explains exactly what I'm on about. It's called banding. You can get vertical or horizontal banding or basically patches all over the screen when the colours are not uniform. Then no matter what game you play, you'll be able to see the pattern overlayed on the game you are playing.

It's simply not true that all TN panels suffer from this problem. I have had two previous TN panels and the uniformity on these two, a BENQ & Belinea were more or less perfect. The state of this Acer is unacceptable for gaming. They better take it back and give me a replacement that doesn't suffer from these same problems, or I will demand a refund, which I think I'm within my rights considering how lousy some LCD's are and they are not really fit to be sold in their current state.

Like I said, it has nothing to do with what settings you choose. I've done all that. The problem is caused by poor screen uniformity which creates a dirty screen like effect when gaming. I've tried various games like UT2004, Crysis and you can see it on these games as well. The reason I choose battlezone 2 is because it has single colour backgrounds and therefore easier to see the effect that I'm talking about. Thanks anyway. The monitor is going back and if they refuse to give me a replacment or refund, then I'm selling it on Ebay.

Might be an old thread, but has anyone found a fix for the superannoying buzzing sound /wallbash.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':wallbash:' /> ? I bought this monitor like a year ago and at first the sound didnt really bother me but now it feels like my head's going to explode anytime soon... I tried sending the monitor to acer hoping to get it fixed, or a new one, but it just boomeranged back to me with a note "we didnt find anything wrong with it, buzzing sound levels are normal lol kkthxbai". /argh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':argh:' />
