My reaction is only so harsh because Nvidia and Capcom (not to mention Andrew) told us there would be popout. I'm not very open to lies, tbqh, so if it's true that popout is nonexistent, that won't be good for their rep with me.

ok so i want a clear answer from someone who has the retail version concerning the pop out effects that were promised
Hatchets ? Dust Particles ? Blood?
Any of that ? or is it just the higher detail added to the depth perception
There should be a mix of each not one more than the other
WE should be allowed to adjust the pop out of effect and the only way to do so is if we can adjust both depth AND convergence
IF there is no pop out effect reported by anyone who has the retail game i expect immediate response from andrew @ nvidia who posted on this very forum that there would be in the retail version
But everyone must understand there can still be a driver update either geforce or 3dvision or both posted today as nvidia has done that before on a game launch day
regardless i think we all deserve at least a post from andrew to clear things up

Locked convergence? My god, this is the work of the truly clueless.
How could they got that far as to be able to produce a game and not able to figure out convergence is something for the user to adjust? Ah I got it, of course it must have been the decision of these "genius" one eyed managers that have no clue of what they are doing. These guys are the guys who drag the company down into the bloody hole trashing the stock value into pennies and still got big bonuses.
Regardless of how unfit for the job they are, their decision to lock convergence in games is going to destroy the use of my 3DVision hardware rendering it into an expensive pile of paper weight and that is not acceptable at all.
I don't play FPS games and not going to buy RE5 or SF4, however, this is a harbinger of things to come if we do not speak up. S3D gamers unite please. Voice up and post your displeasure in this thread and in any other thread to help stop this stupidity. Vote with (or without) your money: I know I will not buy any game with locked convergence because that means the game is not 3D Ready, not S3D compatible and worse, it doesn't even have the possibility to work with S3D like a generic directx flat 3D game out there: If I'm going to buy a generic directx game right now I have a very good chance of getting it running in S3D but with a locked convergence game like RE5, I know from the get go that I will never be able to make it work in S3D. That is tragic.

I guess I would have to attempt to rename the executeable to see if that breaks thel ink to the profile and hopefully i works fine withotu the profile. :( sad days.

This is a user to user forum though. If you don't like it (I certainly don't, though it isn't as big of a deal to me obviously), then voice your displeasure to nV and Capcom directly. Andrew hasn't exactly been around much that I can see, so basically, we are all whining at each other which isn't especially effective.
Why did you, as a company, deem it necessary to lock out convergence control in Resident Evil 5? Is that how it is always going to be for PC games that are redone or made for 3d vision? Who is in charge of such decisions and whom can I contact to voice my annoyance? The 3d vision stuff was not cheap and I don't appreciate control being taken away from the user (namely me). This is in addition to not being allowed to get additional depth in the newer drivers. I hope that this is not a trend. I would like to recommend 3d vision to others, but it is difficult to do so if control is being locked out from the consumer and profiles are only being slowly released. It is getting as bad as ATi's Crossfire profiles.
In any case, please let me know whom I can contact to voice my concern, or pass it on to the relevant parties please. If I didn't like 3d vision so much, this wouldn't be an issue, but as it is, it is very frustrating to have unnecessary flaws in what is otherwise an excellent product.

I suggest that everyone else does the same if you want to see any changes made. Hell, write some letters too, as those generally get more attention. That is what I plan on doing.

Wonderful idea. It would be great if someone could post the email addresses of NVidia 3DVision and Capcom in charge people here. Then we all can just cut and paste this thread or write our own letter to send to all of them.

Perhaps Nvidia or Capcom will react if there are customer reviews and ratings in online stores that make clear how "great " the 3D effects of this "3D ready game" are...
Can You imagine the reactions if a musician would lock the equalizer settings on an ipod because of his artistic vision how his song has to be listened to?
To me locking the convergence is at least as silly as doing this.
I fear that locking the convergence settings could be the "answer" from Nvidia to our demands for a convergence bar, preset hotkeys or autoadjustment of convergence:
If You just remove the convergence adjustement at all there will be no more discussions about the best settings or complaints about bad handling. It's sink or swim.
And if this kind of troubleshooting and "customer support" will be continued this really would be the end of my stereoscopic world!
BTW: Don't complain about depth adjustment or it will be locked, too!

The game looks great in S3D but it has some ghosting issues that I know if we had control of convergence settings it could be controled. I already played for 4 hours. There in no pop-out whatsoever in the game and the third person character could have a good convergence tunning.
It's just dumb to lock convergence but I'm sure its because the tons of 3D cut scenes in the game, they don't want you to change convergence to break these scenes... but at least we could have the option to break the cut scenes but have a much more enjoyable 3D experience.. really a shame.

This perspective will hopefully also cause users to write Nvidia that are not so interested in RE5 or users that think: Great, it's a game designed for 3DV - so why complain about some "marginal details".

Just got this and now i'm crying - this was the holy grail for 3d gaming, the one big hit that would sell it to the masses.
Why can't the consumer decide? taking out the convergence creates crap loads of shadowing that could easily be removed.
If it's any comfort get yourself batman arkam and sit back and turn the 3D to 11 then you will see what Resident evil should/could be like (bat is brillant 3DVis owners, some excellent effects but little pop out though)
Someone please post up how to hack the reg for thye profile and change the convergence!
P.s when you start the game it comes up with the little box on the right giving the rating and advice.....just had 3D ready meaning it takes full use of the technology. My heart beat jump x2, only to play the game after...

And it could make clear that at worst this could be the beginning of a trend that not only affects RE5 but every "3D ready game" or even future driver releases.
This perspective will hopefully also cause users to write Nvidia that are not so interested in RE5 or users that think: Great, it's a game designed for 3DV - so why complain about some "marginal details".
