You need a 3D TV connected via HDMI also the 3D TV must be on NVidia supported 3D TV list for 3DTV play to work with a EDID override has nothing to do with 3DTV play what it does is make 3D vision think it is connected 3D computer monitor when it is really connected via HDMI to a 3D TV. For anybody suffering from this lack of activation key, I have it on good authority that you should definitely contact support and make sure they know you are locked out from playing.

After running DDU, don't download/run the 3D TV Play activation thing. It should work without that, providing the emitter is connected and picked up by Windows.
How do you activate with IR emitter? Also, how do you test it? I don't see 3DTV play in Nividia Control Panel. Do you have to have a compatible monitor connected with HDMI? Anyone used a virtual monitor with fake EDID?
What display model? If it's a Sony HMZ, search the forums. There's some kinda trick to making it work correctly. And yes, 3DTV Play only works via a HDMI connection. It also requires that the Display is HDMI 1.4 compatible. Also note that the emitter only acts as a product key and is disabled, so you'll need to use the display manufacturer's glasses or compatible 3rd party glasses. Unless of course it's a HMD.

This is getting so ridiculous. Win 10 is coming really soon. I can't wait to see how bad this is gonna hurt Nvidia's reputation. A simple licensing server down for MONTHS? ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME?

40 days since this thread started and still nothing! Seriously nvidia you are taking the piss? You could have rewritten the activation software from scratch by now surely? What's going on? We demand an update.

Hello, still the problem: IR emitter is connected and correctly identified by windows 8.1. I uninstalled all driver by DDU and by hand (installation directory also deleted!). Several restarts and several DDU-cleanings but no possibility to unlock by IR emitter and key. Allways a popup by the activation utility. At the moment no way for me to use 3D. That was the choise for nvidia instead of ATI in my HTPC. If 3D is not working anymore there is no need for nvidia! In our company is an update of our workstation graphic cards on the agenda. When my boss ask me what we buy, I will say ATI and not nvidia! 14x ATI FirePro W8100 instead of 14x nvidia Quaddro K4200. The reseller will also ask why we now buy ATI and I will give 3D and the bad support by nvidia as an answere. I think this is the only way to show our poiunt: buing the product of nvidias competitors. Regards Flixer

I've never used the activation utility, is it possible to remove it? Otherwise, a windows reinstall will fix it (install only the driver package, not the activation utility). Not a "nice" fix, but it should work.

So if there is still no given solution for this problem and Nvidia doesnt read this forums. Trie to use Scan for Armadillio , works with the Trial version of 3dtvplay. Only downside that u must do it every 14 days, but besides that it works great.

Hello, support is contacted. I think they don't want to help me. Especially Josh don't understand me... I think I should write my post in the issue discussion with the support. @EnergyCorse With which software can I do a scan? Can you give a link (by PN or post)? Regards Flixer

Support is well aware of this issue and while they act concerned, they offer no potential solutions or timeframes. They even half-heartedly seem to endorse trial resets, which Google happily tries to add for you when you search for 3DTV Play. Hopefully the pending Windows 10 onslaught will force some action. I don't think 3DTV Play is that common or widespread, but if 1/2 of all customers suddenly have issues that might rattle their cages a bit.

Yeah, the non-support Support we get nowadays is pretty much useless. Must be something about the legal system, or corporate PR people all read the same book, because every company I deal with has this totally useless non-answer "we are very concerned about your problems, and are working on a problem." Yeah, I call bullshit on that with you guys as well. Might be past time to be polite and start shouting. Maybe try insisting that they reset the 14 day timer so you can at least play. I'm with D-Man11. I don't have any info about it, but the slow response here suggests something much more complicated. Just speculating, but what if a hacker busted into the server, and erased all of the previously valid license #s? That would make it extremely difficult to tell legit from non-legit. If they can't recover those numbers, that means every previous customer will have to buy again, or prove they bought or something. Could also be a hardware failure with no backup. How about the server that does the licenses has an HD that is wedged, and all the numbers are trapped on that one platter? I'm guessing it's something along those lines. Trying to recover all the data. I saw this sort of thing a long time ago when Danger Inc, lost their entire database of user data. This was for some 2M customers of the SideKick phones, and all the data was on the server ("the cloud"). A failed upgrade of the SAN scribbled over the giant Oracle DB, then scribbled over the backups. It was a fun day. Then a fun 6 weeks.

Good morning, I wrote now the 4th time to josh. He don't understand that I have 1 3D Vision 2 Kit for my normal PC to play games in 3D and one license with 3D TV Play at my HTPC. If I want to play a game in 3D and my girlfriend or sone want to watch a film in 3D there is now way to get it working at the moment. And this he don't understand or don't want to understand. Well I was hoping to upgrade to windows 10 tomorrow but won't be because of this activation farce. If Bob is right and they have lost all the registered users and serials they should either: A) give it away B) bring out a new product which removes the ridiculous 720p limitations and start supporting fixes of games with the money earned. Nvidia are going to have one hell of a bad day tomorrow if they don't get this fixed.
