I got my 3dvision kit today and have been working on setting it up for the past eight hours but have hit a pretty severe roadblock. I am on a razerblade pro 1060 for 2017 running windows 10 and the most recent graphics drivers (417.35). I have a Asus VG248QE which I am running at 120hz due to the need for an hdmi 2.0 (which is directly connected to the 1060, not the intel card) to displayport adapter that only supports up to this refresh rate (getting 144hz would require a $150 adapter). It is an active adapter.
I have gotten through the setup wizard however the eyes have severe crosstalk to the point where it seems as if the eyes are switched. (Depth is only visible with the glasses upside down). I think the problem could be due to my adapter causing some sort of delay to the output on my external monitor however I'm not sure if thats the cause. Lightboost also seems to not be activating although I don't know how to test this. The option is always grayed out in the monitor's built in calibration setting.

But it depends on the settings. @ my BenQ I only have 2 Settings to change in the 3D vision mode: LightBosst and Contrast. The Light Boost is always @ 100 % but sometimes it helps lowering it a bit. But the most important value is the contrast. Crosstalk/ghosting is often seen in high contrasted "areas" ... like a white logo on a black background for example. Here you will never be able to relove it completely, even not with the constrast @the lowest setting.

There is another thing that afflicts crosstalk. The angel of view to the screen. Turning myh ead will cause more ghosting if looking @ the screen brom the side. The best way is to watch directly to the sceen. The bigger the screen the more not possible is this.
In conlcusion: Adjust your Light/Contrast leven, this could be different from game to game. Agjust your Scren high and position any try directly sit infront of it. In the 3D Setup you should not see those ghosting! But sometimes the screen cannot manage it and thats annoying....As i was sticking arrount here for searching a screen that is best, i alsway read about BenQ ..... the others can correct me if i am wrong here :-)
In the 3D Setup i will not have any kind of crosstalk, even not with the maxed contrast and light boost setting.
Ah and finally: You may have to "burn in" the screen a bit after it was of for some hrs. I have to wait approx 10-20 minutes until my screen is OK. Turning it on after hours it is VERY VERY bright and have issues with crosstalk.

Due to my laptop not having a displayport out, in order to convert from hdmi to dispalyport I need an active adapter which I'm afraid may be the cause of the problem. I can't use the usb-c because then the monitor would be going through my intel chip rather than my graphics card.
Also, it is possible my monitor is failing I guess since I have had this monitor for about eight years now. Although I haven't seen any signs other than this to say it might be failing.

The crosstalk doesn't move, and doesn't flip after a few minutes. My eyes can adjust at lower depth levels too some extent but thats headache inducing and only works if I focus on a specific object for a while, If the depth changes or I look at a different object my eyes have to adjust again. It works much better with the glasses upside down for focusing but its still difficult.
It detects the monitor as an asus 120hz LCD (which is the refresh rate I'm running it at due to the adapter's limitation) so it seems to be picking up the monitor correctly.

You are using a HDMI cable coming out of your laptop going into a Active Display Port Adapter connected to your monitor????
Sorry, tis not going to work, adapter is unidirectional and the wrong type. I'm surprised it works at all.
If you meant the adapter is connected to the laptop and the HDMI cable is connected to the display, tis not going to work. Refer to your Owner's Manual

It's an adapter similar to this using an stdp2600 chip: https://www.amazon.com/StarTech-com-HDMI-DisplayPort-Converter-Adapter/dp/B0144NS4Z6. It does work due to the active connection although it doesn't work correctly obviously. I think the adapter is the issue.

Yes I've used DDU twice now, after the second time the monitor wasn't able to work so I had to use a system restore point to get it back.
I think I'm gonna hook it up to my roommates desktop to double check if it really is just the adapter that messes it up.

I tried doing that fix however due to the adapter that I need to use ToastyX's script doesn't work as it simply makes the monitor go black. Thank you for the suggestion though.
I think the only solution would be to do the hardware bypass on my monitor in order to force 3D mode to be active as listed in the blur remover's website however I'm not going to do that as I would probably just end up breaking the monitor and I don't have the means to reprogram the chip as I don't have an old enough graphics card. I also don't know that that would even work though :/. I might get an external graphics card connector and use my 970 from my desktop at home for when I want to play games in 3D but that would be pretty expensive so I'm gonna hold off for now. Thank you all for your suggestions.
I think it would be nice if there was some way to manually set the timing on the shutter of the glasses but I haven't been able to find any way to do that. Maybe if there was some sort of calibration in the setup wizard that would be helpful (rather than the triangle octagon thing). But it seems to be a pretty abandoned technology. I wish I had jumped on this earlier when I still had my desktop.
Also, has anyone managed to get 3d vision working on laptops utilizing Nvidia Optimus? You'd think they ould have gotten it to work...

Ooops, I had no idea that adapter existed, it supports 4K@30, which is enough bandwidth for 1080P@120.

With an Optimus Laptop, you can only use a "video output" that is directly connected to the discrete GPU, not the iGPU.
If there isn't one you are screwed.
You'll need to have the PhysX driver installed and check what connections you have available, refer to the pic.

But there must be something different about my setup. I think it may be related to the monitor I'm using actually. I don't think the monitor Helixmod used in that thread had lightboost so having an adapter go into it might not have been a problem for him. Since my monitor doesn't activate 3D-mode and since ToastyX's bypass doesnt work due to the adapter I use, I think its just an issue of mixing the adapter with the monitor.
But there must be something different about my setup. I think it may be related to the monitor I'm using actually. I don't think the monitor Helixmod used in that thread had lightboost so having an adapter go into it might not have been a problem for him. Since my monitor doesn't activate 3D-mode and since ToastyX's bypass doesnt work due to the adapter I use, I think its just an issue of mixing the adapter with the monitor.

Look at the HDCP tab, does Nvidia recognize it as a DP connection?
Try 1080P@120 in 2D, does it seem to work? Your mouse cursor should be much more fluid than 1080P@60.
Just for the heck of it, try 720P@120 and see if it might work or 1080P@100
You might try using an EDID override, Nvidia can get finicky at times about cable connections/adapters. 3DTV Play would not activate for me using a DP to HDMI adapter.
If Nvidia is indeed seeing it as a HDMI connection, it might be hard to find an acceptabe EDID for 1080P@120 for it. You might try the Acer H5360 EDID (it's only 720P00 and make a "custom" 1080P resolution in the Nvidia control panel.
Are you using drivers from the manufacturer or Nvidia? Sometimes laptops only function correctly with modded drivers from the manufacturer.
Also, if it does indeed leverage Optimus Technology, you might have to set the app setting in your NVCP.

BTW, know that the majority of games are messed up in 3D. Luckily, there are community fixes available that correct many/all of the issues when playing in 3D.

I have gotten through the setup wizard however the eyes have severe crosstalk to the point where it seems as if the eyes are switched. (Depth is only visible with the glasses upside down). I think the problem could be due to my adapter causing some sort of delay to the output on my external monitor however I'm not sure if thats the cause. Lightboost also seems to not be activating although I don't know how to test this. The option is always grayed out in the monitor's built in calibration setting.

But it depends on the settings. @ my BenQ I only have 2 Settings to change in the 3D vision mode: LightBosst and Contrast. The Light Boost is always @ 100 % but sometimes it helps lowering it a bit. But the most important value is the contrast. Crosstalk/ghosting is often seen in high contrasted "areas" ... like a white logo on a black background for example. Here you will never be able to relove it completely, even not with the constrast @the lowest setting.
May you can solve your Lightboost greyed out problem with this video ???
There is another thing that afflicts crosstalk. The angel of view to the screen. Turning myh ead will cause more ghosting if looking @ the screen brom the side. The best way is to watch directly to the sceen. The bigger the screen the more not possible is this.
In conlcusion: Adjust your Light/Contrast leven, this could be different from game to game. Agjust your Scren high and position any try directly sit infront of it. In the 3D Setup you should not see those ghosting! But sometimes the screen cannot manage it and thats annoying....As i was sticking arrount here for searching a screen that is best, i alsway read about BenQ ..... the others can correct me if i am wrong here :-)
In the 3D Setup i will not have any kind of crosstalk, even not with the maxed contrast and light boost setting.
Ah and finally: You may have to "burn in" the screen a bit after it was of for some hrs. I have to wait approx 10-20 minutes until my screen is OK. Turning it on after hours it is VERY VERY bright and have issues with crosstalk.

And that can't be solved by adjusting anything, also regarding lightboost there's no need for hacks, it usually works flawless!
I can only se 2 solutions here:
1. Use DDU (this is mandatory) for a total clean removal of the NVidia driver, and after that a fresh install.
2. The emitter, your graphich card or monitor is failing.
Edit: You don't need an active adaptor for the setup, a normal Displayport cable is recommended, and it could alternatively be the culprit of your problem!

Out of interest, does the crosstalk ever move or does the image ever invert it you watch it for a few minutes?
What 3d mode is active in the Nvidia control panel? Is it generic CRT or is it picking up the monitor correctly?

Due to my laptop not having a displayport out, in order to convert from hdmi to dispalyport I need an active adapter which I'm afraid may be the cause of the problem. I can't use the usb-c because then the monitor would be going through my intel chip rather than my graphics card.
Also, it is possible my monitor is failing I guess since I have had this monitor for about eight years now. Although I haven't seen any signs other than this to say it might be failing.
The crosstalk doesn't move, and doesn't flip after a few minutes. My eyes can adjust at lower depth levels too some extent but thats headache inducing and only works if I focus on a specific object for a while, If the depth changes or I look at a different object my eyes have to adjust again. It works much better with the glasses upside down for focusing but its still difficult.

You are using a HDMI cable coming out of your laptop going into a Active Display Port Adapter connected to your monitor????
Sorry, tis not going to work, adapter is unidirectional and the wrong type. I'm surprised it works at all.
If you meant the adapter is connected to the laptop and the HDMI cable is connected to the display, tis not going to work. Refer to your Owner's Manual

It's an adapter similar to this using an stdp2600 chip: https://www.amazon.com/StarTech-com-HDMI-DisplayPort-Converter-Adapter/dp/B0144NS4Z6. It does work due to the active connection although it doesn't work correctly obviously. I think the adapter is the issue.

Yes I've used DDU twice now, after the second time the monitor wasn't able to work so I had to use a system restore point to get it back.
I think I'm gonna hook it up to my roommates desktop to double check if it really is just the adapter that messes it up.
I tried doing that fix however due to the adapter that I need to use ToastyX's script doesn't work as it simply makes the monitor go black. Thank you for the suggestion though.
I think the only solution would be to do the hardware bypass on my monitor in order to force 3D mode to be active as listed in the blur remover's website however I'm not going to do that as I would probably just end up breaking the monitor and I don't have the means to reprogram the chip as I don't have an old enough graphics card. I also don't know that that would even work though :/. I might get an external graphics card connector and use my 970 from my desktop at home for when I want to play games in 3D but that would be pretty expensive so I'm gonna hold off for now. Thank you all for your suggestions.
I think it would be nice if there was some way to manually set the timing on the shutter of the glasses but I haven't been able to find any way to do that. Maybe if there was some sort of calibration in the setup wizard that would be helpful (rather than the triangle octagon thing). But it seems to be a pretty abandoned technology. I wish I had jumped on this earlier when I still had my desktop.
Also, has anyone managed to get 3d vision working on laptops utilizing Nvidia Optimus? You'd think they ould have gotten it to work...

With an Optimus Laptop, you can only use a "video output" that is directly connected to the discrete GPU, not the iGPU.
If there isn't one you are screwed.
You'll need to have the PhysX driver installed and check what connections you have available, refer to the pic.
