I currently own 24in acer 1080p 144hz 3d monitor and love 3d gaming. I accidentally stumbled into 3d and my primary goal was 144fps monitor with a new build i made. I will not go back to 2d only monitor. I just helped a friend build a 3d ready computer and they went with 27in asus 1080p 144hz 3d rdy monitor and holy balls is it awesome looking in 3d.
Now the real ? i have is I am on the fence about just going with 27in 1080p or 27in 1440p which at this moment is only the rog swift. I have 2 gtx 970's sli and I know swift is bugged in 3d sli atm...I am debating on waiting until they fix 3d sli and then go with a swift or is it really worth the extra cash for 1440p 3d...would i just s$*! a brick at 1440p as i did over diff from 24in to 27in 3d....

To me the marginal upgrade in image quality isn't anywhere near as important as the actual size of the screen. The screen size has a huge impact. So if you're on a budget at all, I wouldn't say Swift is worth it.
Now, IF Swift actually was bug-free, I might be able to recommend it. But it has been waiting for fixes for what, soon a year now? That's not even touching the fact that you need seriously beefy hardware to run 1440p 3D. The 3D image quality isn't quite as good as with some other monitors (imo anyway -- might wanna ask someone else too), but that could be subjective. With all the bugs and weirdness going on, I personally would stay the hell away from it.
Take from this what you will. If it ever gets fixed, I'm sure it's a great monitor. I just wouldn't hold my breath. Plus 3D is enough of a hassle to get working properly at times, then adding Swift-specific issues on top of it .. eh, pass from me.
Whatever monitor you pick, just make sure it has LightBoost or equivalent. It's _awesome_ in 2D games. That's another one of those things you will NEVER want to play without after experiencing the CRT-like image quality with practically no motion blur.

I have some experience with 2d projector about 90" that I tried with my computer at a friend's just to see and I didn't like playing a lot of games on the projector...now it was a rush setup just to try for a day so i had my stuff setup on the floor with no desk and only played like 4 different games and I only thought 1 game was really playable which I don't remember what game it was now...
I tried out WOW on projector and thought it was downright horrible for some reason :( this was years ago so I don't know if setup of a desk with a projector makes a difference or what people do when playing with a projector and or if they play more games with a controller....?
I would be open to projector but would prefer monitor i believe....any good links to projector information or thoughts?

Officially, they'll only work with 120Hz frame sequential HDMI 1.3 "DLP" projectors that are 3D Vision certified.
HDMI 1.4 Projectors are supported via 3DTV Play and require that you use the manufacturer glasses.
Unofficially, if a HDMI 1.4 "DLP" Projector allows you to select a 120Hz frame sequential input, you can override the EDID and use the 3D Vision kit.
In terms of control, I use whatever is more suited to the game. Which means controllers for the most part, unless it's a shooter/RTS/RPG. When I use a mouse and keyboard, I use a table that's actually meant for a hospital, which I was able to order online. Works perfectly.

You should give Acer a try. I was very scepticle when deciding on whether to get Acer or Phillips. I was not about to even look at Asus. And i was very surprised with Acer. The image is fantastic, and with GSYNC, ULMB, and 3D Vision, it's a BONUS.

Luckily there's DSR or GeDoSaTo, plus the 3D itself masks the actual resolution on a screen that big as well -- it would seem as if the perceived resolution due to two different viewpoints is higher than what is actually displayed.

I've used the Asus VG248QE with g-sync mod, and the g-sync is interesting, but 3D trumps it in all aspects for me. I don't play 2D games in general though. There are no g-sync projectors that I know of. The 120Hz helps here though, because you don't have motion blur problems like you do on monitors. The DLP switches in microseconds not milliseconds, so motion blur is not an issue in 2D.
I've also used DK2, and of all my toys, my projector is my favorite. Easily the most immersive and enjoyable experience, the giant screen makes an incredible difference in game play. When the Alien or a Necromorph jumps me, it's life size on the wall. Something about that perspective of scale improves the experience. You get that with DK2 as well, and probably a Sony headset. The DK2 has lowish resolution though, so for game play I've found it not as fun as the projector.
Lowered resolution requirements at 720p means that you don't have to have a super-gnarly rig, or can turn everything up to 11 on every game, your choice. 720p sounds bad, but you need to do the math and realize that 720p at 10 feet away is roughly comparable to 1080p up close, maybe 1440p. This is taking into account the improved resolution you get when showing frames for each eye. Sort of complicated, but the upshot is that in terms of resolution, a 720p projector in 3D looks as good as 1080p monitor up close.

Fans are required with projectors, hot bulb. The fan is my only real annoyance with the projector. So I usually use Eco mode and it's OK. The bulbs are pricey, something like $70, but last for about a year for me, using it every day.

Two, there are a lot of unaddressed problems with the current crop of monitors that leads me to think they are not trying very hard. Having SLI bugs on a 1440p monitor is completely unacceptable in my book.
The projector list is short. The most modern version is the W1070, the older version is W700, comparable to H5360 and Optoma HD66. You can get H5360 refurbs, which would be awesome. W700 you'll need to run an EDID override to use your 3D Vision glasses.

The effect is a bit weird though. To me, it feels like it's effectively doubling the resolution of the horizontal lines, but not the vertical lines. Which initially doesn't seem to make a lot of sense when you think about it logically. Do you have the same experience?

For gaming, there's pretty much only BenQ's W1070 (with its variants) and Optoma HD25 at the moment. HD25 provides the least input lag and is all-around pretty great, but you can't get it anywhere. HD25 is different from HD25e (and the other variants) as it has a proper color wheel, none of the cheap stuff they went with afterwards.
W1070 has a few things going for it too, though. First off, it's so very popular. Whatever issue you might have, someone has solved it. Second big thing it has going for it is a full R/G/B/R/G/B colorwheel. This translates to _significantly_ less rainbowing, which I have found previously very distracting in DLP projectors. (Also free pro tip to anyone watching movies at 1080p on W1070 - drop the image to 50Hz for fastest revolutions on the color wheel and a clear reduction in rainbows).
Whether or not you experience rainbowing is pretty much up to the individual. Some apparently don't really get them at all, while I've hated most DLP projectors.

The amount of lag with the projectors I mentioned is extremely _low_ for a projector. Many of them run into several frames worth of lag, which is pretty jarring even if you're playing just single player games. It's nothing like being a bit of a snob for wanting a low input latency for fighting games/whatever, having that high of an input lag genuinely makes things feel "off."

Luckily there's DSR or GeDoSaTo, plus the 3D itself masks the actual resolution on a screen that big as well -- it would seem as if the perceived resolution due to two different viewpoints is higher than what is actually displayed.
I've enjoyed TV shows/movies quite a bit more on the projector too.
If I had the same experience that I do now, I would've gotten a projector for 3D gaming ages ago. Still, for other (2D and competitive) games, strobing lightboost/whatever is a god-send on a display. There's also some input lag on the projector which makes it ill-advised for fast paced games.

I've used the Asus VG248QE with g-sync mod, and the g-sync is interesting, but 3D trumps it in all aspects for me. I don't play 2D games in general though. There are no g-sync projectors that I know of. The 120Hz helps here though, because you don't have motion blur problems like you do on monitors. The DLP switches in microseconds not milliseconds, so motion blur is not an issue in 2D.
I've also used DK2, and of all my toys, my projector is my favorite. Easily the most immersive and enjoyable experience, the giant screen makes an incredible difference in game play. When the Alien or a Necromorph jumps me, it's life size on the wall. Something about that perspective of scale improves the experience. You get that with DK2 as well, and probably a Sony headset. The DK2 has lowish resolution though, so for game play I've found it not as fun as the projector.
Lowered resolution requirements at 720p means that you don't have to have a super-gnarly rig, or can turn everything up to 11 on every game, your choice. 720p sounds bad, but you need to do the math and realize that 720p at 10 feet away is roughly comparable to 1080p up close, maybe 1440p. This is taking into account the improved resolution you get when showing frames for each eye. Sort of complicated, but the upshot is that in terms of resolution, a 720p projector in 3D looks as good as 1080p monitor up close.

Fans are required with projectors, hot bulb. The fan is my only real annoyance with the projector. So I usually use Eco mode and it's OK. The bulbs are pricey, something like $70, but last for about a year for me, using it every day.
I would not recommend going to 1440p monitors at present, for two reasons. One, the resolution is punishing on your rig, you typically need to turn down settings to get good frame rates in 3D, because we already halve the performance by enabling 3D. Two, there are a lot of unaddressed problems with the current crop of monitors that leads me to think they are not trying very hard. Having SLI bugs on a 1440p monitor is completely unacceptable in my book.
The projector list is short. The most modern version is the W1070, the older version is W700, comparable to H5360 and Optoma HD66. You can get H5360 refurbs, which would be awesome. W700 you'll need to run an EDID override to use your 3D Vision glasses.

The effect is a bit weird though. To me, it feels like it's effectively doubling the resolution of the horizontal lines, but not the vertical lines. Which initially doesn't seem to make a lot of sense when you think about it logically. Do you have the same experience?
For gaming, there's pretty much only BenQ's W1070 (with its variants) and Optoma HD25 at the moment. HD25 provides the least input lag and is all-around pretty great, but you can't get it anywhere. HD25 is different from HD25e (and the other variants) as it has a proper color wheel, none of the cheap stuff they went with afterwards.
W1070 has a few things going for it too, though. First off, it's so very popular. Whatever issue you might have, someone has solved it. Second big thing it has going for it is a full R/G/B/R/G/B colorwheel. This translates to _significantly_ less rainbowing, which I have found previously very distracting in DLP projectors. (Also free pro tip to anyone watching movies at 1080p on W1070 - drop the image to 50Hz for fastest revolutions on the color wheel and a clear reduction in rainbows).
Whether or not you experience rainbowing is pretty much up to the individual. Some apparently don't really get them at all, while I've hated most DLP projectors.
W1070 also has the second least amount of input lag, behind Optoma's HD25. It's a bit over 20ms if I remember right.
Other than those two, I'm pretty sure there are no sensible projectors to have. At least nothing you could get with a four digit budget.

I have no idea why projectors tend to have significantly higher input lag, but they simply do. Here's a pretty comprehensive list that I got through googling: http://www.displaylag.com/display-database/
I didn't manage to find a similar database for projectors, but I did find out several reviews touching on the subject -- the input lag in these varied from 60ms to even up to 180ms. Even 100ms of audio sync will feel off when watching a movie, you can just imagine trying to play anything.
