3D vision surround on curved projector screen?
Hey i want to build a device for the ultimate game experience! i saw on the internet a guy who played with 3 projectors on a curved screen. it looked absolut amazing so i want to create something similar but with 3D vision projectors. My question is Will the curved screen have an effect on the 3D? will the warping effect have a negative effect on the 3d vision? Thanks T-Rain

Hm. I really don't know for sure. The only thing would be that on a curved screen, the light from the sides would reach your eyes slightly earlier than the light in the middle. I doubt that would be enough of a difference to affect the 3d effect though.

It's a bit pricey, but you'll probably want something like the Warpalizer software. http://www.gamewarping.com/ That will give you edge-blending, plus warping you need for curved screen. If you don't do warping software, then things that would normally look like straight lines will look curved. Outside of that, it's all supposed to work in 3D as well. You might go with 1024x768 projectors, since with 3, it'll already be extra wide, and you get bump in resolution from 720 to 768. And if you do build this, you simply must come back and tell us about it. :->

I know this is old, but I just came across it and I figured I'd share. If you consider that the light from a projector comes from a single point, it is already taking longer to get to the edges of the screen. Projectors on a screen create a distortion already. By curving the screen, you are actually making all points equal, assuming you use correct radius of the curve. Imagine your projector to be a flashlight. Tie a string to the flashlight, and a pencil at the end of the string. If you were to pull the string taught and draw a line, it would be a curve. Projector forums would probably give you a ton of information on this subject, as they've been doing it for years and years and years. That's how I found this post - looking for info on building a curved screen (for a single projector). Good luck.
