358.50 Works perfectly fine for me..No issue at all...maybe worth a try on your end? Speaking about settings since i cannot overclock my 3.5ghz i7-970 I'm still running at around 30fps at 720p in 3d with sli 2x gtx 970. I can't seem to find any setting that improves my benchmark results...in your experience what are the settings most related to the CPU bottleneck in 3d? Thanks in advance

It is getting more weird every time I launch this mess! Due to that "out of Memory warning" the game always switches to 2D automatically (options saying 3D OFF). But when I launch the game in 2D I still get those weirtd double-image effects (although the game isn't in 3D mode at all). I am standing there with Trevor in his hideout and some objects (character included) are rendered twice (one image seems to be more solid while the other is looking more transparent). It really looks like messed up 3D but 3D isn't even active. I guess I will cancel playing this mess now and start with one of the other numerous 3D gems that are waiting on my shelf!

I find that the only significant setting affecting the performance in this case of cpu bottleneck is the POST FX. By lowering it from Very High to High, i gain 10 to 15bps in game raising my avg fps from 30 to 45..it makes a significant difference in term of smoothness while playing.
Which settings are you referring to didierh?
Lohan, For my settings, see my latest post. For your problem, I know this must be crazy, but every time I started the game, I got the message "out of memory" and the game set the option automatically to 2D. I found a special way that might only work for me but worthly to try it. Before launching the game, I set in the Nvidia Control Panel, stereoscopic option, the DEEP to 88 % (not 87 or 89, that is important). Once in the game (solo), you will see bad reflections, but the game is normally in 3D. So I hit the "CTRL+ F4" keys to raise the min. the 3D deep and ... miracle, I got a amazing game in real 3D. If you got still problems, try to change the shading option. Good luck ;-)

I fixed my out of memory problem, which also resulted in 2D by resetting the graphics settings to default. Then 3D activated fine and I could change settings again and the game works fine! Hope it works for you.

Thanks didierh and Conan for your help. I will try that and give feedback. Which driver are you using Conan?

I had tried about 4 drivers on my 980ti and nothing worked. I gave up and went to the latest drivers, and thats when I decided to reset all settings and it worked! So, latest drivers.

Unfortunately the steps mentioned above (reset graphic settings to default as well as the 88% depth setting that didierh recommended) didn't do it for me. When going back to default graphics settings I still get the out-of-memory issue. Reducing the depth slider to 88% before launching the game also didn't fix it for me. Thanks anyway for your help!

I already did this several times, didierh. I even uninstalled the game yesterday because I have this strange issue with the game being displayed 3D-like even in 2D (3D switched off in SETTINGS). I thought maybe something is corrupt with my game files. Unfortunately when I reinstalled the game I was facing the same issue again. I can't even activate 3D since everytime I switch to 3D the game does the mandatory restart which gives me the "out of memory"-warning which leads to the game launching in 2D only!

What's the story with this game at this point? From what I can gather the best bet is rolling back to the previous patch. This is obviously difficult if you don't have a backup of the files.

Bit of a drag to force it offline though, and R* being the dicks they are, force you login every two weeks anyway. And they force an update on you before you can login. All in all, very abusive. If you catch the update before it's applied, you can sneak through and get offline before it updates. Hassle though. Plus Bawsaq offline during gameplay in offline mode means you miss stock trading parts. So... I made a backup of the full folder all 60G or so, and allowed it update. Running latest driver, 361.43. SLI 680 as 690 card, GTX 760 for PhysX (may or may not work here). Using HelixMod/3Dmigoto fix to fix race markers. It's working well for me with this combo. Completely playable, performance is same as always. No 3D dropouts, no crashes.

To clarify bo3b, you've allowed it to update and are having no problems? Or you allowed it to update, then restored your backup? Because that's what I did, and I can play online with no issues. I haven't (and wouldn't) try actually playing MP, but it hasn't forced the update since I restored my backup.

Thanks. How about page file? Seems this is a factor. Or is it not proven?
