I am so confused Questions regarding computer to HDTV 3D Vision
Hello,
I admit complete confusion here. I'm working on a project for work, and we're intending on using 3D in the presentation. We've already purchased the 3D Vision kit from Nvidia, and several glasses, plus a GeForce GTX 480 and a Quadro FX 3800.
We would like to send the 3D output to a large HDTV, 65" or greater. However, I'm not fully understanding the compatibility issues for them. On the Requirements Page the only HDTVs that are listed are the Mitsubishi DLPs (WD-65837 and WD-82837, and L65-A90 [I would presume that the L75-A91 would work as well?])
Ideally though, we'd be getting a LCD or Plasma display for a couple reasons: Primarily, I haven't been able to find anyone at all who makes hard travel cases for DLP monitors. Also, they're thinner and easier to wall mount, and I if I understand things correctly, a LCD/LED/Plasma display provides a better picture than the DLP.
Anyways, my root question is are there any LCD/Plasma HDTVs that are compatible with this setup? There's This Page, and if I read it right, its saying that with this software you can run 3D on any 3D TV?
If anyone could give me some more information, I'd greatly appreciate it. As I said, I'm quite confused.
None will work until nVidia releases 3D PlayTV.
and you can add that displays that will be compatible with 3DTV play will be the new hdmi1.4 3DTVs ONLY. (other displays will not be supported)
Also in the consumer space at the moment, for quality in 3D NOTHING beats DLP projection (front or rear).
Plasma is almost neck and neck with DLP : DLP has better separation between the left and right eye views but plasma offers better brightness than a standard RPTV.
If you want to do better then you have to go for professional solutions or customized dual projecor systems which are not supported by Nvidia 3D vision.

Is there an expected release date for the 3D PlayTV software?
As I said, portability of the setup is important to us, and the DLPs seem like they'd be much more of a hassle to lug around.
We were also considering a projector, but it looks like the ones supported by Nvidia are all 1024x768 as the highest resolution, which is kinda a bummer.
But, I guess for now that the only real option is to use one of the Mitsubishi HDTVs...and if that's what we've got to do, that's what we've got to do...

There is no expected release date for 3DTV play. Nvidia just mentioned a vague "sometime this summer" release, but given the delays on 3D Vision surround, you can't really bet on any particular date.
