Google Earth and Bing 3D maps support coming?
I've read through the FAQ and weekly questions, and I've tried search the forum but got a random error, and I've tried googling it for hours now, so I thought it's about time I ask. We're playing around with 3D in our research department at Kyoto University, and my boss really wants to get Google Earth in 3D. We have a set of 3DVision glasses and suitable monitor, and all my searching reveals that around November last year NVidia issued a press release saying windowed 3D such as Google Earth and Youtube support would be coming, but I can see no other mention of it anywhere. Has this been cancelled or is it in the works?

(aside, I'd like to just thank Nvidia for being the most awesome and first out there with a decent 3d solution - I even had a pair of the original 3dvision glasses about 7 years ago, but the move to LCD screens and my awesome huge SGI monitor breaking put a stop to that; with the recent resurgence into 3D I came back to the fold. Currently playing around with the new 3D finepix camera and 3d viewer, will post some videos later if anyone is interested)

Thanks

Why not? :)

In Stereo Photo Maker, there is an option to start google earth, take left & right pictures (try New York with 3D buildings) and show them in anaglyph, side/side or NVIDIA 3D VISION ;) Really cool.

Thats ok but what would be super cool would be to view Google Earth in 3D. Zooming in and out!

Does anyone remember the UFO over Florida? Lots of great and disturbing stuff...

thanks for the replies guys. i guess "not yet" is the definitive answer here then. taking pictures is fine i guess, but we would really like to be able to show the landscapes live.

the only other good solution we found was to use proprietary tridef drivers with a zalman polarized monitor. sadly the tridef drivers dont work with nvidia 3dvision glasses.

taking 3D camera to tokyo disneyland next week, will see if i can take anything interesting there.

until then, I posted a youtube 3d video of a 3d video playing on the 3d photoframe, taken using the 3d camera! so, you should be able to see 3d playing within 3d. wouldve liked to do an infinite 3d effect, but unfortunately the 3d viewer only takes SD input, can be used as a "monitor" as such...

I Second this request. I want my Google Earth in 3D , there were multiple news stories around November 2009 saying "Nvidia 3D Vision: Google Earth and browser support incoming!"

I'm really excited about both bing maps and google earth in 3D. It's a real reason to buy 3Dvision when it's released !

Unfortunately it isn't /sad.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> I was very excited to discover that Nvidia finally released the driver with google earth support. But I was very dissappointed that Nvidia once again ruined the S3D experience by locking the convergence settings /verymad.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':verymad:' /> Not only locking them but also using a setting that removes almost completely the depth perception and only causes a lot of ghosting. So it's even worse than in 2D!!!
Is there any way to change the preset convergence settings in the driver by using the registry, Nvidia inspector, etc.?
