SG deeply upset _3dizzy in 'rip off' scandal If only you had asked
3Dizzy

re: Dizzy site linking to solutiongaming's videos and screenshot without even mentioning solutiongaming or asking permission.

Im making this a public announcement because im bitterly disappointed in the way you have gone about things - FOR THE 2nd TIME

Last year, when SG had been running a while, and 3Dizzy was new to the web, we discussed helping each others site out.

I approached you regarding your video pages linking to my solutions pages and vice versa, with my solutions linking back to your site. You replied back saying good idea, but I never heard any more.

Then a few months later, without even contacting me, you posted my screenshots on your site, which directly went straight to download the pics from my server, bypassing the textual solutions and bypassing mention of solutiongaming, apart from the address bar which showed the source ie my server

I kindly asked to discus a better way, by having links to my solution pages which contained the pics, with my page linking to your for the videos. That way no-one was grabbing the others hard work, and the viewers got to see solutions pics and videos

You never replied to that, but did remove my screenshots from you site

now, to my alarm ive noticed your site is again linking to my site, directly linking to my server without a mention to solutiongaming at all

Nor did you contact me to request doing such a thing

Im all for helping the community, and don't see your site, or any others as competition. I run my site purely for the love of 3D gaming and wanting to help the 3D gaming grow in the easiest manner.

My above statement cemented by my initial contact with you when you first started your site regarding helping ands sharing

More so - it wasn't that long ago, you posted on forums about your broken 3d glasses - I wasn't holding any grudges over your first linking to my images, and offered you a link helping with your problem - see link below

http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=190333&st=0&p=1175252&hl=broken&fromsearch=1&#entry1175252

My main disgust again, is both you don't even mention solutiongaming, though happily link to my content as if your own and secondly you didn't even bother to contact me asking if you could do so.

Please remove all links to my site, pictures and videos, likewise my videos on your youtube page, again without mention of solutiongaming, please remove

To the community

I love the fact the we all have so many great resources to visit online, infact Ive even posted recommendations to visit other sites including dizzy's. see link below

http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=192078&st=0&p=1186596&hl=welcome&fromsearch=1&#entry1186596

Im sorry to have to write this, but feel dizzy has been very sneaky, and underhand. and for that reason, don't wish my content to be linked to his, especially without a mention.

Also this rant, is a result of this being the second time dizzy has done this - again without mentioning solutiongaming on his site.

I continue to support the community, share my site freely, and help whenever I can. I continue to recommend other sites of interest and wish 3dizzy all the best with his site, which is a great resource for video's. But enough is enough when it comes to stealing content and parse it as your own. I feel Dizzy has his own agenda, by placing all my content on his site, without showing it’s SG content, he’s hoping your just use his site, click his adverts and be unaware of the SG content origins

Im aware Dizzy could have gone further and stole my videos and hosted them directly, so even the address bar would hide his theft, but then why bother, when he can host them freely on my server. Im also aware that when someone downloads MY content from the dizzysite site, it does show solutiongaming, in the download window, a necessity from windows with it all being on my web server.

Dizzy - please don't let this lead to a argument, please remove my content from your site, and then, we can both get back to helping the 3d community

SG hopes that 3Dizzy is pro-community enough to resolve this amicably and quickly.
3Dizzy

I understand your grief at having your hard work stolen like that without even the mention of credit. its sad to see that in this day and age its almost common practice with many smaller sites. You are just lucky you became aware of it.

Although it maybe an idea in the future to watermark all your screenshots so you will get credit either way. I have had ppl come to me and give me sites where the found content that belonged to me being used in the same manner. I even found a guy using a pic of my custom build M.M. case as his forum avatar and claiming it to be his. what some people will do for attention.

If you will PM me some info and links I will attempt to boycott his site from all the forums I am a member of. Also if you have a youtube channel, I would think about a video response to this. If not then think about starting one. I used to also write hardware news articles and things such as this are becoming a major issue.

It's great to have your support

A boycott or any similar action isn't really what I intended. I just don't want my own hard work being taken from me or my server (which I pay for) being used without my consent. 3Dizzy has been asked to refrain from doing this and that is what I really want. I don't want to suggest to anyone that they should or shouldn't boycott, that's entirely up to each individual member of our community.

Dear SG,

First of all, let me apologize for any stress or heart-ache caused. I will of course remove 'your' content from the site over the course of the weekend. (Even though I am sure you don't own the intellectual property rights to the recording software, nor the direct permission from the gaming companies to record 'their' hard work.) Please see the attached screenshot showing that I have in fact thanked you for the videos.

Please remember that before 3Dizzy was created, SolutionGaming had NO 3D Game Play Videos on their site at all, and as per our email correspondence, you will remember mentioning that you were interested in using 3Dizzy's videos on your site (to which I was entirely happy for you to do). Well, rather than you getting back to me, you decide, quite understandably, to make your own videos.

In an emerging community such as this one, I don't think we should be squabbling over where the content is coming from and rather, encourage the growth of S3D (we everyone knows there is a severe lack of content out there!). 3Dizzy will be undergoing some major development in the next couple of months and so I would like to keep good relations will all members of the 3D community.

Kind regards,

Ed

Dizzy - thankyou for agreeing to remove, but also remember ive asked you before to remove, which you did, only for you to do it again.

Im all for encouraging the growth of S3D, and in community content, some of my content is solely submitted by the community. My beef was that you didn't ask AGAIN and not mention, or apparently very little mention of where your new content came from.

But also, as stated, im all for your website and others, hence me recommending your site previously, if only you had asked before placing my content on your site, im sure we could have agreed a format that was suitable for both of us, providing a better resource for everyone - similar to what i asked when your site first went live.

Let this been the end to the issue again, I look forward to seeing my content removed from your site and we can both continue to provide a excellent service for the 3d community. We both offer a similar service, but their is plenty of room for both of us, and maybe we can start building bridges and work closer together in the future

Love both your sites, solutiongaming for an easy to use library of user-fixes for games, 3Dizzy for emulation & driver help(would be cool if you uploaded the H5360 projector's EDID dat file for those of us that use Powerstrip, its floating around the forums somewhere and is different to the .inf file you have)(btw your search box is broken)

As a web-admin I can see where solutiongaming is coming from, you added links to direct-downloads on his site, 100s of mb in size, so he incurs the bandwidth cost on his account from each user and you gain the benefit of having downloadable 3d videos on your site to increase traffic. Yes the result is that the site is a more comprehensive resource for 3d-gamers, but you placed another user-help-site in danger of being suspended because of monthly traffic capacity.

The skeptic inside says this might have been a case of propping a site up with others content & direct-download links to increase traffic so that the odds of someone using the amazon.co.uk's referral code increase so as to get a bit of finance & compensation for running the site, but avoiding having to upgrade from a basic hosting package so as to keep costs down and place the bandwidth burden on someone elses site. Understandable since your paying for the site out of your own pocket, but unacceptable if you use content & direct-download links without permission, creating the possibility of placing additional financial burden on another private site.

Thats my piece said. Good that ye have come to an understanding. Back to gaming!
