Cannot activate 3D in 90% of games Even Nvidia Demos won't work
Hello,
Let me illustrate what my problem is and maybe someone out there has had this problem or knows why this is happening:
First off: I'm running
Win 7 Pro 64
3 monitors,
GT 240 - with samsung 120hz
GS7900 - running two separate lcd panels
ASus Strike Extreme version 1
196.21 drivers
In AoE 3 and batman AA, and the video player/ stereo viewer, the Nvidia 3d glasses work perfectly.
In every other game I get this when I'm playing, and the glasses will not turn on no matter what I try and do.
This is the same for
Spore/ Cod MW2 / HL2 Team Fortress/ Star Wars Empire at War/ Wow/ etc. etc. etc.

(note that its the left hand side you are seeing (look at the gun sites), when I press the green button, the gun sights snap back to the center in normal non 3d mode)
Yet the Alt-F1 screen shot gives me this:
[attachment=15865:iw4sp01_50.jpg]
I'm sure the hardware is working. The only thing is that Star Wars installed Direct X 9.0c but when I do a dxDiag it tells me I'm running Dx 11. Outside of that I have no idea why it seems everyone else in the world is running fine, and I can't get 90% of my games to work. I've tried disabling the other GS7900 card and running things, no dice. I'm really at my wit's end here, so if anyone can please give me some suggestions (aka NVIDIA support) If I had some ideas as to what is causing this I'd be more than happy to work to fix this. I just want to enjoy the 3d games.

That happens to me like every other day or so when I restart my computer (win 7 ult x64). What I do is unplug everything, go into the control panel, go to the 3d section, make sure 3d is enabled, then run the setup wizard again...90% of the time, it says that the drivers are installed and working but it won't recognize that the IR box is plugged in and that's when I know that it's jacked up. If it won't recognize the IR box, just right click my computer go to manage look for usb drivers and find NVIDIA Stereoscopic 3d usb controller OR unrecognized device and update driver. Browse for driver software and pick from device drivers on your computer and go from there. It doesn't happen any more since I disabled UAC though even though it's a signed driver....you might try that lol

Hi, thanks for your input.
I actually have to disable/enable the driver after I play a game that is wonky like that. The difference is in my case no matter how many times I try to run the games i want, they will still not work. If I were to run say MW2, then run batman AA, batman AA will also do the same thing until I have disabled/enabled the drivers etc. Then and only then will Batman AA work, or the stereo player or AoE 3.
I would love to know *especially from support*
1. If an older game installs DirectX 9.0c on a Win 7 pro 64 machine, will that interfere with the current 3d driver? (if so is there any way of uninstalling Dx 9 complete from the system without doing another fresh install)
2. Having two cards (GT 240, GS 7900) would this 196.21 driver think they are SLI'ed together, I get no options for this, so I don't think they are. (I've tried disabling the gs7900 and running the bad games after a reboot, still no dice)
3. How can the screenshots be in 3d while the screen only so the lefthand side at 120hz??
I'm trying to narrow is it a driver bug, or a directX bug, and if there is anything I can do to fix it as I seem to be in the minority, so something with my install process / hardware is different than most.
