intermittent freezes with 93.71 stereo stable but occasional flickers w/ 82.12
I have been working with stereo drivers for a couple months on my new computer
Core2Duo 6400
1 Gig Corsair RAM
BFG 7600 GT OCE
Audigy 2ZS
This is what I've experienced:
With 93.71/93.71 Stereo, it works well _except_ my computer freezes 50% of the time whenever I enable stereo.
GPL - works 1/2 time freezes 1/2 time
GTR 2 - works 1/2 time freezes 1/2 time
rFactor - freezes all the time
With 84.21/ 82.12 stereo so far it has never frozen, but I always see occasional bright flickering and weird splashes of flickering.
Rage has helped me to get this far, thanks!
However, I'm struggling to find a way to get something that consistently works.
I'm seriously considering getting the IZ3D monitor, but don't know I'm ready to spend that much money if my computer will crash 1/2 the time whenever I enable 3D.
Has anyone experienced the crashing 50% of the time with 93.71 and any suggestions how to fix it?
Has anyone experienced the flicking with the 82.12 stereo and any suggestions how to fix it?
I think stereo has such amazing potential, if it consistently worked and the IZ3D is as good as reviews say it is!

That fix for the processor = 1 solved my freeze problem on 93.71.
Now I can enable and disable stereo all I want, no freezing. That is so nice,
it was really testing my patience wondering whether or not it would hang my
computer every time I wanted to enable stereo.
Next step is to consider whether I am really going to buy the IZ3D 22" monitor or
not.

I was racing rFactor last night with a friend and was able to reliably enable stereo with no problems. Before it would crash 100% of the time for that specific game.
It was pretty awesome racing with the 3d effect. There were a few times where I spun out, ending up facing backward on track and my friend was slowing down to not hit me, and the overall effect was incredible. I just sat there and looked at his car, amazed at the effect.
Makes the idea of the IZ3D with brighter image and reduced/non-existent ghosting very exciting.
I am so glad to be past the freezes based on your suggestion, Chopper.

Yes, once you go stereo, you can't go back!
You will definitely benefit from a brighter, more color-accurate image on IZ3D.
There is some ghosting, and my color adjustment recommendations will help, and it does offer a lot of positive trade-offs.

If not, turning off one of the cores in your Dual core setup should fix the problem.
Look through my previous posts for the method.

Is this the method you are referring to?
And if it is, do you think it will fix my flicker in the 82.12 stereo driver and the freezes on the 93.71 stereo driver?
Thanks!
-Nate
Quoting Chopper:
"Run MSCONFIG, and select the BOOT.INI tab.
Once there, selected ADVANCED OPTIONS.
Set NUMPROC to 1.
Reboot your computer, and you're in business.
If this works, you can set up a dual boot mode on your computer.
The stereo drivers don't support dual core CPU's yet - so this will get you by for now by temporarily disabling one of the cores."

If you are using LCD shutterglasses, download the Edimensional activater from www.edimensional.com.
That will make sure your screen and your glasses are properly synced and should stop the flicker.
You should stick with the 93.71 or better stereo drivers though.
