PSX Games (alot of them) use 2d backgrounds such as FF7/8. Battles are 3D, but thats it. I guess you can use, http://helixmod.blogspot.com/2012/05/how-to-guide-create-convergence-and.html .But it just seems like a waste of effort. I tried the earlier version FF7 way back when (I think it was DX7-8). Not sure if its dx9 now(probably) but that doesnt change anything. Besides compatibility buying the new FF7 is kind of a bad idea I think(could offer more resolution but I dont think so). It had a huge following in mod community (high qualitity models/music/mods). Like doom 3 -> doom 3 bfg. The only JRPG that works well in 3D(that I know of) is Grandia 2...I tried it way back when so it may not be an impressive now The wii has 2 I believe. Check Chiri's 3d vision album.

Honestly, I'm mostly looking for some screenshots more than anything. Though I really do need to learn how to do some HeliX modding, I'll probably play with Last Remnant first. (Hey, my new handle already fits the HeliX template! ;))

Thats real simple. Just use the files included. PRESS 9 put depth at lowest possible and save your settings. PRESS 0 in combat adjust depth/convergence to your preference and save your settings. Press 9 when out of combat and 0 when in combat. Game will have hud problems in combat from what i remember (enemy selector/ally) and damage counter. If your gonna play last remnant do me/yourself a favor. Grab helixs fix for xcom, load game... See what happens. Then try dishonored. I havent tried last remanant but it may be compatible. I tried hunted the demons forge and it was compatible but many arent.

I tried Last Remnant with the xcom fix. It didn't seem to be doing much in windowed mode. I switched to full screen and it locked up completely! I had to delete the mod to get the game to start up again. Without the mod, the game actually looks OK in battle mode when you turn shadows off. Unfortunately, the normal mode does not let you turn shadows off! Lots of other stuff looks pretty warped and nasty in normal mode, too, depending on the region you're in.

I was momentarily interested to see if the FF7 re-release worked in 3D also, sounds like it's kinda meh.... But yeah Last Remnant would be great in 3D with some HeliX mod fixes...I think I looked at it way back but it was beyond my ability to fix. I think Mana did some fixes for X-Men Wolverine though so maybe he could take a look at Last Remnant. They are both early UE3 and have very similar lighting/halo issues.

@chiz...I made the fix for X-Men Origins: Wolverine (great game BTW). if you looks (helixblog) the shaders i fix i put a comment "//" refering to the changes i made. For example if i put //new = new line of code...and in the first line of the shader code i put the shader reference, example: //Fog effect (In all my fixes do the same) @chiz / ZlothX: If both games share the same engine there is a high chance that the fix can be replicate in "Last Remnant". I dont like role playing games, so i dont have Last Remnant to help.... at least in Xmen game i fix almost 50 shaders, so its a lot of work....i dont know how bad looks Last Remnant in 3D.

Fine job on the X-Men fix, I remember taking a look at the game and seeing so many problems. I'll have to try it with your fix sometime soon! Maybe I'll take a look at Last Remnant sometime with your X-Men fix as reference. I haven't done much HeliX modding lately though been really busy IRL. If you're interested in trying I may have an extra Steam key for Last Remnant from the SE bundle I bought a few months ago. LMK!

Last remnant developers made a wierd decision where candle fire is part of the hud code(2d). I found the story boring and combat system made 0 sense and I pretty much used that as an excuse to drop it. No offense, I may of not gave it a fair chance and I think Ive grown out of JRPGS. So basically anyones whose not helix will have to get remove candle fire and shadows. Remaining issues could be fixed. Text bubbles are also part of hud so you can render them 2d/ depth but regardless it wont be in the right position(dynamic). Its one of those games that will require 30+ shaders fixed and its a laundry list to find the shaders you need. I would pass imo.
