Can you please stop these rants? This is not a thread for that. This is like the third time you post pages long stuff about Nvidia executives and how they suck the lifeblood out of "sheeple." It's not helping. This is a thread for GTA 5 fixes, problems, solutions and the likes.
You're not helping us with these posts. They're a hindrance and make the relevant parts harder to follow. Whatever sympathy people might have for your viewpoint just completely melts away when you're being annoying in the wrong place.
Thank you.

Competition creates innovation.
Who does NVidia have to compete with???
AMD???
I mean really what other options do we have to choose when it comes to GPUs???
So until then they can charge us bogus prices for thier old tech GPUs with new series numbers with considerably tiny performance increases for the next 10 years.
I can see it now...introducing the Nvidia Infinity Voltron Nano 9999999 Series Cards.
5% Performance increase more than the previous Gravity Oblivion 8888888 Series Cards.
Yawn!!!!!

Any updates regarding GPU usage dropping drastically when you enable 3D? I've tried lowering the priority of the R* launcher and its not making much of a difference.

Well, there is a 165 page 2500 post thread here regarding the low GPU usage issue even in 2D:
https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/781982/geforce-drivers/nvidia-geforce-gtx-900-series-feedback-gathering-low-gpu-load-and-other-issues-/
I personally believe that it is a CPU thread bottleneck and have performed various tests to show this i.e. CPU clock scaling with GPU usage.
However, bo3b has said that this doesn't seem to be the issue with GTA5 specifically, as the GPU usage does not scale with CPU clocks.
It is strange indeed.
It may be that, as GPUs are hugely parallel (compared to CPUs which are hugely serial), 3D Vision overheads force the GPU to be not as parallel any more. This would account for this particular scenario.
The only way to test this would be to downclock the GPU to see if GPU usage goes up. If it does, then it points to a CPU limitation. If it stays the same usage, it points to a GPU parallelism bottleneck.
Unfortunately, I do not as yet have the game and cannot test. Perhaps you can?
what are "overlays"?
Overlays are any of the injecting software that overlay information on the game screen that the game did not expect.
The usual suspects are AfterBurner, Steam overlay, Origin overlay, UPlay overlay, Fraps, SweetFX. HelixMod and 3Dmigoto act in similar fashions.
There is no good API for adding overlays, so all of these are doing tricky software things that are unsupported and dicey. They tend to conflict with each other as well.
If so, if you missed one of my last posts, I warn about this. It's PX related. Well I have to disagree say that using Bo3b's settings, Max Payne 3 profile etc this game in 3d maybe be one of the best looking games in 3d I have seen.
Sure there are some issues but what 3d game hasn't had issues since maybe Batman. I wish they would support 3d vision more as well.
It seems the only issues I am having now are the game freezing or crashing, which the non 3D community is having as well so it might not be 3D related for me. I do need to upgrade my processor, maybe that will help. However I'm waiting till windows 10 for that.
I have tried Bo3b's settings, I have tried Flowbee-602's settings. I have tried DX10, 10.1, 11. I have tried so many different settings, and sat through that 40+ second loading screen a hundred times. I've rolled back the drivers, reinstalled the driver, and tried every meaningful permutation I can think of. I have tried the GTA V profile, the Max Payne 3 profile, Assasin Creed Black Flag SP profile and Far Cry 4 profile.
The result is always the same. 3DVision works for a while, and then sudden shadows break, 3D fails, or it crashes. Usually the first 2. (At least for GTA V and MP3 profile. AC profile doesn't work properly, FC4 profile is "fake 3D" which would be passable except minimap is a bit of a mess.)
Usually I get 15-25 minutes of great gameplay before this happens. Twice I've gotten 55 minutes, and once I was blessed with 90 minutes. Those last 3, I was playing at 1080p with a fresh install of the driver and really bad framerate, low teens, so I wonder if the more frames, the faster the bug.
I have an reasonably up-to-date system, a brand new card and the latest drivers. Yes, the game really is one of the most awesome stereoscopic games I've seen, in the short periods it works. That just makes it all the more frustrating.
Hello Pirateguybrush ,
Thank you for contacting Rockstar Support.
We are very sorry you are having issues with 3D vision. We will be more then happy to assist you with this in anyway we can.
You indicated that you are using SLI GTX 970's. GTA V does not support dual graphics card systems. That includes SLI, Crossfire and switchable graphics. We highly recommend disabling SLI and continuing from there.
Please reply back and let us know if this solution works for you.

This seems like bullshit to me. They were demoing the game on SLI rigs:

Try This for a fix
1)Delete your nvidia drivers using DDU software from 3dguru and try re installing the nvidia game ready drivers.(Try using a clean installation)
2)Increase the amount of virtual ram of your system (Only the recommended amount)
NOTE- Do not use virtual ram from the OS installed partition (C)
3)Try installing a software called cache booster
4)Open a txt file and write this code- timeout 60
wmic process where name="GTA5.exe" CALL setpriority "high priority"
timeout 30
save this as a .bat file and before you start the game open this.
For people who are seeing stutter while playing, the suggestion found in the tweak guide discussion is to disable vsync, then re-enable it. Apparently after doing that, people found the game to play smoothly again.

I confirm. Vsync is half broken when not toggled off and back on as it sometimes locks the frames to 30 fps. And I'm not talking about the adaptive one.

Just an update on my situation. I have been meaning to upgrade to an intel setup for a long while now and finally swapped out my FX-8350 for a 4690k. Haven't touched the clock speed yet because I wanted to see what it could do stock.
FPS increased from 14-20fps in the benchmarks to 26-35fps so the game is now playable in 3d. Just thought I'd post my results incase anyone else running AMD processors are suffering from low frames as well.
I do have one question for those running SLI. Does it scale well in 3d? I have been wanting an SLI rig for a while and am considering picking up another 970 if its worthwhile.

yes it is, mostly. I use a bit increased convergence - it looks awesome, but weapons looks very bad (i use 1st person view), this quite upsets me, so i'd love to adjust convergence for weapons separately.
p.s. changing fov is not helpin and it is not an option
