Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning

Does Helix's fix work with the demo or only the retail version? I tried using it with the demo (Origin version) but it didn't seem to fix anything in the demo version. Also did they improve the game assets at all with the retail version or does it look very similar to the demo?

If someone can post retail pics of KoA with Helix's mod that'd be great thanks!

Can the fix work on Steam? Kinda kills the whole mod for me if incompatibility with digital distribution services like Steam and Origin becomes a common occurrence.

I have origin version, but don't know about steam version.
But i don't think that they have minor changes in engine, only different protection and achievements.

Helix fixed games 3d issues. See here http://helixmod.wikispot.org/gamelist

Apologies if I'm being dense here, but the first step in Helix's installation instructions says to:
'Copy "Release" version of DLL to "Kingdoms of Amalur Reckoning" folder.'

What does this mean? I have the Steam retail version. I've followed all of the other instructions (e.g. Extract folder from "Kingdoms of Amalur Reckoning.3DVision.fix.zip" to the game folder where "Reckoning.exe" located, etc.) but I'm not getting any noticeable difference in 3D, as I'm still getting the halos and lighting issues...

Did you drop the "Release" version of the d3d9.dll wrapper in your Reckoning folder? http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=222386&view=findpost&p=1365862

If you do all that and its not working with Steam version it may be because the CRC32s for shaders are slightly different, Helix uses the Origin version. With Dead Space its already confirmed the Steam version generates different CRC32 than the retail.

Thanks for that link Chiz. That's the step I was missing. Works as described now.

Thanks again!

I have serious problems with the Helix fix. I have the Steam version and when I first installed the fix, the 3D was pretty much flawless. However, something happened (either due to a hard reboot or me trying to change the in-game settings) and now 3D doesn't work at all. The 3D image is totally corrupted and appears to be in first person. When I shut off 3D Vision, the game plays normally. I uninstalled and reinstalled using Steam but it does nothing. I don't mean that 3D performance goes back to where it was before the Helix fix, I mean that I get a completely corrupted image. Any idea what might have happened and how I can fix it ? Why would the game not go back to its original pre-Helix 3D look if I reinstalled ? The game was so beautiful with Helix's fix that it's a shame to play it in 2D.

I can only suggest that you set to hight convergence settings.
Go to the game settings in 2D set all to maximum.
Close the game.
Run Regedit.
Go to registry editor and locate HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\NVIDIA Corporation\Global\Stereo3D\GameConfigs\ (or HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\NVIDIA Corporation\Global\Stereo3D\GameConfigs\ for winX32) and delete Reckoning folder.

Also did you tried to remove fix from the game folder (d3d9.dll) ?

Thanks for the suggestions, HeliX. Turns out the problem, as you guessed, was that convergence was reset (not sure how, but anyway) to the point where the whole image looked completely corrupt. Fixed now, and the game looks splendid. Thanks again for all your great work !

Hi,

I'm a bit of a newbie and I need some help with the fix. I installed the release d3d9.dll and the newest fix to the Reckoning folder but there isn't any change in the game. Do I need to restart my game for it to work?

Yes.

Make sure folder layout is.
(amalur main folder)/d3d9.dll
(amalur main folder)/shaderoverride/

That's where I put the files. I even tried deleting everything from the folder and starting over. The shadows and lights are still bad.

Bump.

I just installed this game and dropped the files into my steam folder, and can confirm that there are issues.

I tried disabling post processing, but made no difference.

I just dropped the shaderoverite folder, and the dll, into the steam main game folder. Was there more I missed?
