CryEngine 2 and stereo 3d potential of next gen games and stereo
Okay , so im sure everyone here knows about Cryteks Cryengine 2 and their WIP Crysis (us being 3d stereo nuts and all B) ).

So i have been thinking , with next generation games not far off , i wonder what we are likely to see from our 3d stereo drivers in the way of full support for the new shaders and the like . Is there a next gen game graphics card in the works from Nvidia that we know of ? I would be interested to know if they would be considering full shader support in stereo 3d , and by that i mean , each eye showing slightly different lighting from the shaders . If this were possible , and the driver support were there imagine the immersiveness of games such as Crysis . And if a decent resolution HMD were to appear , say 1024 X 768 or even a high resolution wide screen variant , and fullon surround sound going on , you would forget your playing the game and think your in that world .

All we need now is some kind of user interface more intuitive and natural than a keyboard and mouse and weve got VR right there (minus the few other senses like touch , taste and smell ) .

I know im overdoing it a bit , having a VR orgasm , but hey , can you blame me ? Seeing visuals from crysis and thinking of VR at the same time induces such VR'gasms /w00t.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':w00t:' /> .

You sed it bro.

In reply to the first post, the devs have stated on more than one occasion that hsaders CAN be stereo supported but it is HARD to do.

Seeing that not alot of work is going into stereo drivers, I doubt anything will come of this.

Perhaps in 15 years when these "cyploptic fools" realise the power of stereo, and we start gettingdecent support, we can come back to these games.

I hate to be a pessimis, but its the experience talking. After you have been following something for a while, you begin to see through all the bullcrap and spin that companies churn out :)
