DarkStarSword's TODO list

Thank you so much for working on this, DarkStarSword. There's a lot of neat looking indie UE4 games coming out this year that I'm eager to check out.

Just a quick update - I met with Uppercut Games on Thursday and had a chat with them. They have integrated my prototype and given me a beta build of Submerged to try out. Everything seems to render correctly, other than some flickering issues, which are likely due to the shortcuts I took to make the plugin work as quickly as possible and hopefully something that will be resolved as keep working on the plugin (edit: alt+tab cleared these up). At the moment it looks like the plugin gets statically linked into the game's executable, which may pose a problem for other games where the developers aren't willing to help out - we'll see, I haven't investigated very far yet. Here's a teaser (note that the eyes are inverted so you need to use the distance viewing method here. The FOV is also set overly high from the VR code I used as a starting point - when this is ready it will use the game's regular FOV): Even the god rays work out of the box without needing to fix the shaders:

Submerged has been on Steam since August/2015, it's currently 50% off. $10 http://store.steampowered.com/app/301860/ Has anyone tried it? Did they patch it with 3D? It's not listed on the helixmod.blogspot, so if it's not patched, is there a way to implement functional 3D?

It's not patched yet, and right now the 3D is broken with one eye rendering the world fully in shadow. I'm working directly with the devs on it (which is where the above screenshots are from), but I've been flat out with other things.

I'll have to pass for now, I'd never buy a walking simulator/exploration game that does not work in 3D. I hope you get it sorted in the future, when you have time. Thanks for the reply and your contributions to 3D. Do you still have plans on looking at Karmaflow: The Rock Opera in the future? lol, I hate to ask, but the sound track is just too awesome.

Yeah, it's still on my list as well (I want to play it for the sound track, and I won't do that until I fix it). I had an early look at it a while back, and it should be pretty straight forward to fix, but it seemed exceptionally prone to crashing while trying to hunt shaders with Helix Mod - not a show stopper, just a speed bump.

I've updated my TODO list on the top post so people can see what I'm currently working on. If anyone is wondering why I am taking a bit of time to get around to things at the moment it's because I have about 10 items that I currently consider high priority that I'm working through.

Man, that list is massive! And even more impressive is the number of items crossed off it due to completion, plus a ton that's probably not even on there. What's really cool is earlier this week I took it upon myself to read through the entire thread of Bo3b's shaderhacker school again, and it's quite comical to see how in the beginning you were just getting started with learning and asking some of the same basic questions we all start off asking, and then only a few pages later you practically became the primary instructor (and I can say without a doubt that you've been most instrumental in my learning and development). All that, along with your development on the 3DMigoto wrapper, and your ability to crack the greatest of challenges has me convinced you should be inducted into the 3D Vision hall of fame, along with the great Helix himself (among the few others deserving, who should know who they are)! I certainly hope that your Patreon page has been of some benefit to you, and once I am back to working and getting a proper income again, I'm of the mind to make a fitting contribution and, again, I hope others are able to recognize and do the same.

Hey DarkStar. Big thank you for your contributions. If you want, I can take a look at Karmaflow & Albedo. I started fixing Albedo a while back. But towards the middle of the game, I got frustrated with the puzzles & rage quit =P I'll have to pick up Karmaflow next time it's on sale.

If you're interested in Karmaflow & Albedo go for it - they are low on my list and I've found that more items get added to it faster than I can cross them off so who knows when I'd end up getting to them :) I did have a quick look at Karmaflow ages back and it's one of those games that likes to crash a lot with Helix Mod, combined with an unskippable intro video was a bit annoying - and then I got side tracked and never got back toit. There's only a few broken effects though (fog & clouds I believe) and it's UE3 so it should be fairly straight forward. Albedo was one I was waiting until it left early access, which it now has, but I just haven't got around to playing it.
