Optoma HD131Xe with Optoma BG-ZD301 and 3DTV Play
Should get me 720p 3D 60fps in any game that works in 3d vision and tridef right? I do have an nvidia card. And do I really have to pay $40 for 3DTV? Also if it can do 720p 60 fps it should support 720p 120hz 2D right? Thanks.

The HD131Xe is HDMI 1.4 compliant, so it's officially supported via Nvidia's 3DTV Play. If you want to "game" in 3D, then yes, you need to purchase 3DTV PLAY for $40. But, there are some games that do have native stereoscopic support and would work without 3DTV Play. If you by chance have Windows Vista, 3DTV Play no longer works with that OS. 1280x720@120Hz in 2D, should not be a problem, unless the projector's software will not allow it.

So I got the projector and set it up a bit. And then I tried the 3d dlp glasses. HOLY. F*CKING. SHIT. From 24" red/cyan to 110" DLP, it looked absolutely glorious. Trine 2 - Blown away. Mirror's edge - best walls I've seen in a game period. Even watch dogs in compatibility mode looked amazing. Only bad thing is 24 Hz on 1080p. Does anyone know a hack workaround or something like that? Like disable the resolution check or something. Cause 24 fps is laughable. I tried to drive in watch dogs once at 24 hz. Well I can say it was cinematic indeed, in that the car blew up michael bay style as I crashed into walls. Now just got to get the hang of 3dmigoto better and every game will be glorious. I'm showing this to all my friends.

Try 720p/60hz. There's is some loss in image quality, but it's not too bad, and games become actually playable.

Yeah, that's my goto for 3d games at the moment. The problem is, nearly every game goes to 120hz when I'm at 720p so the 3d thing doesn't activate. Any way to force 60 hz? I tried refreshlock and it worked for mirror's edge but I can't force it on batman arkham origins and a few other games. The D3DX frame locker posted by chiri gets me a dxgi error 2 (stupid windows 8.1) so that doesn't work either. Maybe I can remove 120hz from supported framerates on my porjector somehow.

Yep, you want an EDID override. http://3dvision-blog.com/tag/edid-override/

Nope, it'll work with your existing glasses. You may have to experiment with a couple different EDIDs to find one that works well for your setup, but it should be pretty easy.

Yeah, the edid override worked and my dlp glasses are still usable. The Sony-KDL55HX729-EDID seems to work as the edid doesn't support any 120hz resolutions so the game won't switch to it. Thanks for your help.
