my projector isnt 3D ready (infocus dlp 330)

right, so ive done the 2-pin hack, but whenever I initialize 3D, I get this:[img]http://i58.tinypic.com/1z6wr4k.jpg[/img] windows works fine, this is the 3D vision wizard..

Hi is this Projector 3d Capable of any kind ?? If it is NOT at least 3D Capable this will never work unless you use discover mode.. If the projector is 3D Capable you may get it working with NVidia 3D Vision if you use a INF Hack..

sorry, sarcasm doesnt translate very well on the web does it. 1024x768 85hz, used it before for 3D, before '3D Ready' came about... im confused as to why they are making this more difficult than it was before? for £££ so people buy 120hz lcds?

Well, a lot of people talk about how it was for the money, but my take is that it was for the quality, and the quality costs more. I used the old Elsa Revelator type glasses, and they were an interesting novelty, but were an order of magnitude worse than current 3D Vision hardware. NVidia licenses 3D Vision to manufacturers who make a certain quality level, and part of that is requiring a minimum of 120Hz. That's not just to piss everyone off, it's to minimize the flicker you are getting to 60Hz per eye, same as a regular monitor. Less than 60Hz, and you get flickering. 85/2=42.5, which is probably noticeable to a lot of people, causes headaches in some, the usual. 3D Vision hardware was also intended to be plug-n-play with no jacking around with EDIDs, crazy dlls, patching code, and the usual stuff we do. That's counter to the usual wild-west of PC modding and users, which is where some of the conflict comes from. We can argue all day about it, but their goal was valid, they were trying to make a premium experience, and cut through a lot of the 3D confusion and complexity.

Well not sure where you read sarcasm or are you being Sarcastic?? Guess you are correct in your observation tho..

I will look and see if thisis on my short list for getting 3D vision working without it being NVidia certified.. I had gotten NVidia 3D Vision working with a Sharp XR10XL projector which was NOT NVidia 3D Vision certified.. I can pass what I did with that to you to get it working as well..

Well there is the Infocus projectors that you should be able to get to work.. I am not sure if you can get your working but if you post a better screenshot of what you see on the 3D Vision page you posted above but I just can't make out what it says to blurry..

Hi nephilim - sorry man, i meant I was being sarcastic about the '3d ready' bit - i.e. its more than ready because ive used it before - just a bit of confusion :] - my model is the one under the X1 - i'll look for the proper specs to see if theres one thats the same i can fake it being. ive put it in CRT mode by breaking the 2 pins that do the EDID or whatever its called, and im pretty sure its 1024@85hz regarding the image, maybe ive got it at a wrong setting, but that is whats happening - the image is being crushed into the left hand side and gone all 'bitty' .. and bo3b - yeah ok, i understand about creating a premium experience, but the tech is there and its a shame to bin my projector, 40hz per eye isnt great but its ok - im glad Nvidia are pushing 3D - part of the reason im a bit of a fanboi is because of things like this :] what do you think is causing the image to be squashed?

For what it's worth, I successfully used 3D Vision glasses+emitter with CRTs a long time back. And that was at 85Hz, same as yours. That was back when 3D Vision came on CDs, so it's always possible drivers changed and so on. (3 CRT in Surround style, using a Matrox THG) If I remember correctly, 85Hz was the absolute minimum it would accept, anything less would not enable. So for example if your timing was off by 1Hz, it might be a problem. But your picture looks like the timing is wrong for the projector altogether. Like your horizontal scan frequency does not match the vertical in order to make a proper picture in 3D mode. It also looks like scan lines, and it's pretty unlikely that the projector actually supports alternate scan lines like a CRT, so it's possible that in CRT mode the driver assumes it can send every other line. Maybe try rolling back to super-super old drivers, like the ones on CDs, where you at least have my working example, to rule out driver changes. CRT mode definitely worked.
