3D Nvidia medical test query, How many actually see the square box in that test image?
  1 / 2
Hi all,

When I run the 3D set up for my Nvidia 3D glasses on a Acer GD245HQbd monitor.
I get past the test with the left and right eyes, but the medical test, I do not see the sqaure box.

I've been told by users on Flight sim forum that it is not a real true medical test of seeing 3D. Also my nephew couldn't see it eitehr yet a mate of mine can.
In fact I went and had a look at a Samsung 3D LED LCD TV the other week and if I didn't see a hand come out of TV, then I was seeing things. Not sure of Movie title, but it had this blue Blob that looks like Jelly in it.

I was wondering if others do not see the medicla test image correctly but still can see 3D in games and movies.

I add another question if I may, any suggestions on Movies in 3D I could get that the Nvidia 3D player will play in 3D or do I need a Blu Ray player for my PC?

Thanks in advance

Phil

hi Phil,
regarding movies - please search this forum - there have been great many threads about 3D movies.
regarding test image, i can see it alright. maybe, if you created a survey would help you get a better idea than a simple discussion.

I have no problem vith stereoscopic images or 3d-gaming. But it do have problems with the nvidia medical test. I think the pattern itself confuses my brain or something. /teehee.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':teehee:' />
So yes, you're not alone if me counts.

I see the square fine as well, but I've read there are some people who are either dominant with 1-eye or have astigmatism that can't see 3D content properly. There was a pretty lengthy post the other day about someone who was lamenting the reality that they couldn't view 3D properly that explained it pretty well. One thing to keep in mind however, is that most PC games do not have pop-out effects by default, as they weren't programmed with 3D pop-out in mind. Some of the 3D Vision Ready titles make much more blatant attempts at pop-out effects (Resident Evil 5, Just Cause 2, Batman etc). You can also adjust convergence to focus deeper within the screen to increase pop-out effects in the near-field, 3rd person action type games are great at this like the Assassin's Creed games. Anything between you and the main character will have a lot of pop-out if convergence is configured correctly.

I do suffer from a mild form of astigmatism (both eyes) but i can see stereoscopic media without glasses and stiill experience the same depthexperience as usual etc. The image is of course slight blurred without the glasses though.
I'm proved not to have a dominant eye though (means i'm using both eyes equally much and in all situations). For instance: The first way to aim properly in 3d using the iz3d driver was simply using the standard ingame crosshair. In the early versions it was only rendered correctly in one eye thouh. You could choose left eye or right image shift which enabled you to aim using your dominant eye. Neither worked for me since i always aimed in between regardless of the shift... /teehee.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':teehee:' /> Closing one eye was the only option but how fun was that?
In the medical test i still think it's the actual pattern that confuses the brain to some degree. I'm able to see the two squares but i'm not able to determine which one's in front of the other. 39 years old btw.

Thanks to all the posts and information, all very useful,
As I started to think myself today I am expecting too much of certain games, I knwo Nvidia has a list of games that are comptabablile with their 3D vision stuff, but some from that list which are highlighted or are in bold by memory are more compatiable than others. MS Flight sim is not one of those more comotablile, if that is the right word.
The posts about medical test are interesting, I'm 47, I don't know if I call my right eye more dominat than left, but in the old eyesight test with the letters on the wall, my right eye can see the real small letters, left eye goes a bit fuzzy when I get to two bottom lines, I wear glases only for reading and mainly to proect my better eye in words of optimistrist.
Anyway I check out the list of 3D movies and try some other games out. Cheers Phil

ps being a Market Researcher by trade, now why didn't I think of a poll!!
