I noticed someone in another thread (Libertine?) suggest nVidia produced a new interactive 3D tech demo. I think this would be a great idea. It needn't be too complicated and would be a useful tool for game devs.
I would love to see a tech demo of a simple landscape view that enabled you to adjust the depth of the main sections. For instance it might depict a night time scene, with a garden leading to hills in the distance. The landscape could be one layer; the skybox, which could be pushed out as far as you like another, and finally, a controllable large green nVidia symbol which you could navigate from a fixed standpoint from the garden. The depth of the landscape and skybox could be controlled by sliders.
The detail need not be awesome, though knowing the tech demos, there is no reason why they might not be. Though seeing as this will be a 3D tech demo, please have DX9 version for DX9 owners etc

Not really 3D interactive enough. What sliders would you add to that demo I wonder - cough! Sorry.
The guys from MTBS3D managed to make images that highlighted key 3D issues along with decent 3D so I must be possible... no?

That is an interesting idea. Would really want something like this.
Even better, I'd love it if the Nvidia driver allowed you to change depth/convergence values of individual objects in the game. For example, I would like to use low values for the gun, but then make the background extremely 3D. Right now if I get good values for the background in an FPS game, then the gun is doubled too much.

I like the idea of a landscape scene, like andysonofbob suggested. Maybe Nvidia could licence [or be paid to use] specific game maps to use as tech demo material. It would be nice to use the cityscape in Rage. Having varied scenes for specific types of gameplay might be nice too, to give developers of different game types a more immediate idea of what 3D can do for their particular game.
The main point i had really was just hammering home what 3D can do for you. Having an interior scene of your typical dark corriors in an Aliens game/movie with lost of mist, steam and wires about, with one alien coming out of a vent on the right and one lifting up a grate in the floor on its way out, with your gun hud having the words: "EMPTY".
The current Nvidia test program is pretty interesting, but as a new user, i had no idea what i should be focusing on and concentrated mainly on the moving bits, which presented another problem, which is they kept...well...moving.

Seems like we really need an auxiliary adjustment for things near to you.
