3D Glasses Dead?
So I purchased a Samsung 2233RZ and nVidia 3d Glasses in March. I had used the kit here and there in the past few months and everything seemed great but I probably only had to charge the glasses 2-3 times at most. Very minimal usage.

Anyways the glasses wont seem to power on anymore at all, even when connected with the USB cable. So i thought dead bateries and I've tried to charge them several times since with no success. In fact if I try and charge the glasses the charge light comes on then seems to flicker shortly after.

Things ive tried:
1) Charging it on the PC using 2 different USB cables
2) Charging it thru another PC with nothing else connected to the USB ports
3) Charging it thru a direct to wall to USB adapter.

In all cases the Charge light would light up in orange then shortly later begin to flicker. I cant get the glasses to power on at all, even connected to the USB cable.

Any thoughts suggestions? Im beginning to get the feeling these glasses might be defective.. which is a damn shame considering their cost and that they have been babied in my care.

There also doesn't seem to be any specific contact phone numbers/email address for support for these things either so im not sure about how to get a replacement if necessary.

I live in Canada.

Thanks Andrew which email/number should I call for warranty support. I mean when I goto nvidia.com, click support, click hardware support and it gives me a choice between bundled or 3rd party and well this is neither... I mean maybe im blind or something :)

EDIT: Finally found it.. almost every link just kept taking me around in circles until I finally noticed the "Ask a Question" in the FAQ section..

Hi guys,

have the same problem with my glasses. They work fine with the USB cable attached, charge light goes on but even after hours of charging the glasses won't work without the cable attached. Have contacted support. Bought the glasses in the US but I'm currently posted in Australia, so hope that a RMA doesn't get too complicated....

Great! Just got a reply from Nvidia Customer "Service" :

"For the replacement or RMA of the NVIDIA products you need to be in the address given for the place of purchase and the replacement or RMA can be done only within states of America."

I'm currently posted in Australia. So just to sum this up: glasses broken right out of the box (assume it's the cables detached from the battery) and Nvidia is not able to replace them unless I move back to the US into my old home. Great customer service guys! Guess that's what happens with being an early adopter of new expensive technology and trusting Nvidia with my money.

Pretty pissed off

Buzz

PS: Samsung is able to replace my notebook regardless in which country I am if they got a sales office there.

Yeah, as long as you haven't moved houses. Sorry Andrew, but I'm very disappointed by Nvidia. This 3D setup is far from being cheap moneywise, wish I could say that about the actual mechanical quality as it seems I'm not the only one with broken glasses.

I haven't had a chance to RMA my glasses yet sadly but support was a little disappointing at first to be honest. But hey at least they are willing to replace the glasses! /thumbup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

I think you should be able to RMA from anywhere.. i really don't see why they wouldn't honor the warranty. The down sides are:
1) You have to ship the glasses back using FedEX or UPS, ok fine ill ship FedEX. I REFUSE to deal with UPS in any fashion
2) I don't know about this but im trying to request the glasses come back thru FedEX rather than UPS (UPS=ridiculous brokerage fees, etc)
3) They expect us to pay Brokerage fees and taxes (I paid taxes once, im not paying them again on a defective item)
*But truthfully this all might be a moot point, hopefully they ship thru FedEx and hopefully theres no brokerage fees/taxes.

So far not overly impressed but to be honest however, right up until when the glasses stopped working they were fantastic! I just think nVidia isn't used to dealing with RMAs since most of it goes thru 3rd party vendors (eVGA, BFG, etc) but in this case we have little choice. Im optimistic that everything will go smoothly just a little hesitant..

As for these being commonly defective or not lets give nVidia the benefit of the doubt. Whenever someone has a problem you always hear about it, but what you never hear about is all those glasses which are working fine without any issues. /thumbup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

hi guys,

My glasses stopped working, i thought i had to regarge them so i tried,
but nothing. But sometimes when i push the on button a lot , 1 glas
goes black ,or then the light blinks red green, or both glasses turn black,
or de light is only red.
If only there was a way to reset them or something.
I live in holland and got them from the US.
I cant live without them dammit.
I hope someone know a way to fix it, please?

I finally managed to get the glasses shipped out for RMA today. Called the nVidia store, got the run around from one agent who kept asking for my order number even though I explained there isn't one like 5 times and why. Seems like i've had some bad luck!

Finally called back to tech support, the woman was very nice and got me the level 2 support phone number called them directly and they managed to get me the info for RMA. I was very pleased at this point. You win some you loose some! Big thumbs up to Troy in Tier 2 Support if anyone from nVidia reads this, I would love to give him some Kudos.

Now I just have to wait for the replacements :)

Well my replacements arrived today! I must say Props to nVidia.. things started a little rocky but I am very happy with the service.

1) I shipped FedEx and they were smart enough to ship back using the same shipper! Yay even upgraded to AIR shipping, i kinda expected ground :)
2) No Duties/Taxes, once again yay! But YMMV on this obviously
3) I expected to get a refurbished pair of glasses as i sent just my glasses and IR receiver like requested (which would have been fine) but I was extremely pleased to see a brand spanking new full retail box show up with all new cleaning clothes, cables, etc when i opened the box. Wow. good show nVidia! /thumbup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Batteries are charging now and I should be gaming again tonight once home! 3D Vision FTW!

Thanks Andrew and nVidia! and for those here who also had issues I hope everything works out for you. /thumbup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
