DCS Black Shark: Steam version not being detected.
My Steam copy of 'DCS Black Shark' isn't being detected by the 3D vision drivers (Rating:Unknown), even though it shows up in the NVidia control panel as being 'Good'.

It looks OK if I adjust the convergence settings manually, but I wouldn't mind seeing it running under it's proper profile. I don't know if this is an issue with just the Steam version, or if other versions are also affected. Has anyone else played it with 3D Vision?

Thanks in advance.

Surely I'm not the only 3D vision fan who likes serious flight sims... Anyone? Bueller?... Bueller?... Bueller?

I wanna play with cliffs of dover but I don't have a GTX and FFB stick yet.

That will be a dx11 title so nvidia must be behind it to a degree.

What's 'Cliffs of Dover'?! I know about 'Lock On' and 'Lock on Flaming Cliffs' (which were ancestors of DCS), but I'm always interested in hearing about new FS releases, so please tell me more!

I'm running a 'Saitek Cyborg Evo Force USB', which I admit is a pretty crappy FFB stick - I've also got a 10-year-old Sidewinder 3D Force-Feedback Pro (which is a much better FFB stick), but my Sidewinder needs an 'old fashioned' game port to run it (and I have no such game port on my current Core-I7 system). But FFB or not, I'd be happy if 3D vision was running properly!

Im looking for a cheap sturdy FFB stick.

So, you dont know Cliffs of dover. Jeebus. /biggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

You have two choices. Wait for a month, and you going to see dx11, or search right now and you have to see dx9 material with barely any sound. /tongue.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Thanks - I found the game, will look into it (there's not enough good flight sims around these days). I'm going to have to upgrade my card too - the GTX-295 is still pretty fast (thanks to having 2 GPUs) but can't do DX-11 - and more and more games are supporting it these days.

Unfortunately there's not many good FFB sticks around these days, and even fewer games that support it (I have 3 in total out of about 100: Flight Simulator X, Race Driver Grid and DCS Black Shark).

I wouldn't recommend the Cyborg - it's cheap, but just not very accurate, especially when trying to hold a specific trim position (as with the DCS Black Shark Trim function). And why does an FFB stick need a spring?

I gather that Thrustmaster still makes good sticks, but they're expensive. The Sidewinder is still generally considered one of the best ever made (according to the forums I've seen) but they don't make them any more - they can still be found second hand though. Just make sure you can attach it (I'm on the lookout for a PCI game port card so I can resurrect my own sidewinder).

That looks very pretty just in DirectX 9 - I'm definitely going to check the game out.

And I liked your link - I-Max in your own home! I use a triple screen setup myself, but they're just standard 22" 1680*1050 LCDs - and only the middle one is 3D, so I've got to drop to 2D for surround vision gaming. Thing is, I'm actually starting to prefer the surround vision to 3D - especially for flight sims.

Good luck with the 'holodeck'!
