Displayport 1.2 support for 3d @ 2560x1600.when?
OK I just read an article over at extremetech where they layed out the new displayport 1.2 spec , it is capable of displaying one 2,560-by-1,600 (WQXGA) display at 120 fps with 30 bp.
This would finally end all 3d vision monitors being stuck at 1080p. I have a 65in mitsubishi dlp which is alright for 3d, then I got a 40 in samsund 3d led but 3d tv play is a joke at 720p,
I was using that as my main monitor but the response time is terrible and I am getting killed in games. Yesterday I purchased a 30" (2560 x 1600) dell u3011, my second display will be the new ACER 27in 3d monitor coming in late february ,the ACER is only 1080p due to the limits of dual link DVI. If nvidia plans on incorporating the new displayport 1.2 in upcoming cards( kepler)
it would allow me to sell the 30 and 27 inch monitors and have gaming joy of smooth 120 hz on a gorgeous 2560 x 1600 monitor AND be able to use 3d vision on a fairly large monitor which are rumoured to be arriving in late 2011.

WILL THIS EVER HAPPEN I CANT WAIT I NEED THIS!!!!!

Your problem isn't your display, it's your software, 3DTV Play. Nvidia crippled 3DTV Play by locking out superior 1920x1080 mode known as "checkerboard" which delivers the 60 frames per eye. CB is in the drivers but inaccessible in 3DTV Play. Since there's no workaround for this design blunder you have to ditch 3DTV Play for a fully functional 3D driver, either 3D Vision, TriDef 3D, or iZ3D. The later two have a free trial period, check it out.

They already do this on Quadro cards.
Try and find a 2560x1600 monitor with a display port interface.
The issue is if you have a monitor without a native displayport interface that is higher resolution than 1920x1200@60Hz then you need an active adapter to connect it (cost ~$130).
I have an active adapter at work between my Quadro card and my 30 inch Dell monitor, every 2 or 3 hours the adapter wigs out and hard locks my machine.
I have no problem with adding display port in principal, but I think there need to be legacy DVI ports for the 99% of existing monitors.

Having the 3d vision work with a 30in monitor would be awesome, but my main goal is to have the 120hz refresh rate along with the 2560 x 1600 ips monitor.
It would be so butter smooth. For now the best for 120hz is the soon to be released 1080 ACER 27inch with built in 3d vision emitter , and the IPS DELL U3011 2560 x 1600
should be good but combining the 2 is what I want. I am de-commissioning the Samsung 40 inch led 3d TV as my gaming monitor, the response time is just horrible.
By the time I aim at a target, I am dead. The 3Dplay works but is lackluster , it will be moved to the far wall in my man cave and used with fios and 3d movies.

I am mainly worried that the next round of Nvidia cards coming in late 2011 will be missing displayport 1.2 thus making high res. 3d gaming impossible. Im not interested in quadro.

You should also ask yourself what kind of video processing power you will need in order to get decent enough framerate when running at 2560x1600 resolution in 3D mode, especially considering that even at the moment you need a top-end GPU to run at high details even at Full HD resolution in the more demanding games...

Currently have 2 x 570 sli and 460 768 for physx, by the time nvidia incorporates displayport 1.2 I believe the 28nm Kepler chip will be king of the hill with at least 2gb ram and 4x the raw power of gtx 580,
and of course I will have 2 of them on launch day, I mean obviously.. LOL

I think you can do that already with even with VGA port and laser steering displays.

don't portrait displayport & pos lcd like it's some non plus ultra , cuz it isn't

Everyone else is having great instantaneous response time with their Samsung 3D Ready displays. Apparently, you are using 3DTV Play with setting of 1920x1080/24, this is why your response time is so bad. There is no fix with 3DTV Play because nvidia disabled checkerboard mode which is what you need. Therefore, you must ditch the 3DTV Play in favor of either:
1. 3D Vision
2. tridef 3D
3. iZ3D

The latter two have a free download trial, all have checkerboard. If you decide to pass on all three options, that's your choice but don't blame the Samsung, blame 3DTV Play.

u3011 is a monitor, game mode lowers input lag making your mouse or gamepad more precise for better kill/death ratio , and a better overall pc experience.
To enable hit menu, go to setup , then general ---turn game mode on, then adjust the picture a bit, use hdmi cable

Interesting, I never noticed game mode before. Thing is, it's grayed out on my HDMI1/DVI input so I can't use it. It's active on HDMI4 which is my direcTV connection, but HDMI2,3,4 are unsuitable for computer 3D gaming.
