I use amd x4 at 3.5 and gtx 460 768mb, with h5630 1280x720 rez. I run max settings, no aa fxaa on, inside I get 60 solid fraps. outside more like 30's. The point is the game is very smooth in 3d at 720p with gtx460. At 1080p 3d settings may need medium, other may know. I am also running 12+ mods. you need sky fix posted a few pages ago.

The problem is that I don't to have to do that all the time. It would be cool if I can set the camera zoom depth for horse and combat so I don't have to play with anything.

Can anyone please please tell me if they've had any success (FPS wise) playing Skyrim in 3D on a single GTX 460 on at least mid level settings?
I'm right on the verge of deciding to move into the 3D PC gaming world. The problem is that I know 3D requires twice as much from your video card and I can't afford a new video card (would probably go SLI 460) as well as the expensive monitor.

I'd imagine its fine seeing as my GTX 480 runs it flawlessly as far as FPS is concerned. Skyrim isn't particularly taxing on the hardware, you have to have some serious moddage and tweaking in there to make it so, seeing as it is built for consoles.

Depends on what you mean by success. I can't say much on the 460, but on the single 480 I was not able to get 60fps with 3d active. In SLI GTX 480 I am able to get 60fps with 3d enabled. If you are ok with 30fps then you should be fine on a single card though.

Is there any way of avoiding or minimizing the image doubling of up close items like the weapons in first person view or items that come too close to the screen. This game looks so awesome but the doubling issue is killing the experience for me.
The witcher 2 had different convergence settings for close and far away objects hence this was never an issue with that game. I hope there is a workaround for this game. It looks so great with high convergence.

"Remove weapons and hands in first person mode".Edit Skyrim.ini located in My Games - skyrimAdd fNear1stPersonDistance=5.0000 under display.Increase value to around 65, so giving fNear1stPersonDistance=65.0000I know this is not perfect, but does serve as a quick fix for the double hand/weapon when convergence is high.

I wish to have the same fov and distance of the 3rd view camera with the weapon put on and taken off, and also when running, but I can't find the command to do it. I think for me is the mayor problem I have in this game, since I must be continuosly using the mouse wheel to correct the zoom. I can't see any mod to correct this... maybe it is not a problem for most people.

Is there any project made any progress or have we hit a brick wall regarding the moon and water?
The work done so far is brilliant - really makes the game playable in 3D.
It's a pity nobody has been able to fix these last remaining problems. Not sure why Tridef were able to fix them so quickly. Would have thought same fixes would apply to Nvidia driver.

personally I have only changed fNear1stPersonDistance=5.0000 to 65 and fDefault1stPersonFOV=65.0000 to 85. Thus controlling the first person view.
Also you can switch from 3rd to 1st person using the f key. No need to scroll.

Unfortunately for me the game is totally unplayable in 3D Vision. I am surprised i am the only one with this issue.
ISSUE: In 3D, when entering a new area, the game really slows down to like 1 fps and i can hardly move my character though the audio seems to work just fine. I habe to disable 3d vision and wait for the game to get normal again. Same thing happens every time I enter a new area.
I am running windows 7 x64, a GTX570 with 8gigs of ram. core I5 @ 3.7 GHz so my hardware is not the issue here.
[/quote]
Did you ever find a fix for this? I'm having exactly the same problems, game runs fine in Ultra in 2d but as soon as I enable 3d is grinds to a complete halt, even in the loading screen, it won't load.

Your video card is a bit weak. If you are running at 1080p may want to drop to 720 or make some sacrifices elsewhere. If you are running 1080p 3d its a bit hard on that single card. I'd recommend a video card with at least 768mb of ram for 1080p 2d so for 3d id recommend at least 1536. Download fraps and see what your fps is in game. Then cut it in half and thats MAX you will get.(Less if you are running 1080p most likely imo.) Try 720p in 3d and see what happens.
This doesnt explain the not loading though unless you are getting way too low of fps. Some games have loading issues sub 30 fps though. Just drop settings and see what happens.

Well, you can always go to 3rd person view (which is what I do).
It all comes down to personal preference I suppose. I prefer to stay in first person mode and increase the depth for more immersion in the world for me. I do not really adjust the convergence much on this game.
