If you want 3D done correctly, go with Nvidia period... end of story :)
ATI doesn't even exist anymore, time for you to join us over at Nvidia, you wont regret.

I live right next to ATI head quarters and the logos are now long gone and replaced by AMD logo.

Well there you have it folks...

ATI has the majority of the DX11 card market share, but their logos on buildings are gone...so sell your cards people!!!

They're not gone though. Just a part of amd right? ;)
The only card that makes me cry if broken is the 7900. Old nvidiadrivers supports tons of games that neither iz3d, ddd or 3d-vision does. I'd hate to see a nice piece of history go away.
Iz3d does 3d quite correctly and compability is probably on par/better than nvidia. They are also hardwareindependant and works with numerous displayconfigs and games. For many it's also the only option since nvidia locked out all other stereosolutions than their own.
Myself i run dual projectors and this rules out nvidia for me until they support dual pj's. I don't think it will happen like in old times so i'll stick with iz3d and ddd. There's no point getting 3d-vision since the dual-pj rig gives a better experience than any other projector/displays i've seen.

@thegamerinhell: What kind of stereosolution do you have in mind/own?
i was thinking of a Stereoscopic solution which does not involve spending any more money.(i am kind of new to 3d vision)

If you manage crosseyed viewing you can try the iz3d side-by-side mode for free during 30 days. The only thing needed is ability to see crosseyed images/videos. It usually requires some practice before getting a hang on it though.
Another way is getting a pair of cheap anaglyph (red/cyan) glasses. That way both nvidia discover (requires nvidiacard though) as well as iz3d and ddd-tridef ignition will support you. Anaglyph is free from all vendors what i know about. It's definitely not the best 3d-experience because it uses colorfiltering as stereoseparation.
To see stereo-3d both eyes need to have individual images. Using anaglyph, colorfilters are used to separate the images. Using 3d-vision+shutterglasses alternates left/right eyeviews from the monitor and the let through proper image to each eye. The passive rig i have uses two beamers, one for each eye and polarized light for separation etc while some other displays splits the pixels between the eyes (the zalman among others) which results in halved resolution.

When I used to have an ATI card I bought Tridef software (59.99) totally worth the money. If you cant use 3D vision I would definatly recommend Tridef as it is the closest in quality and has a huge amount of customization. I like 3D vision better because it just seems more properly implemented into the games but Tridef is great for ATI users.

Iz3d sounds like a headache honestly. I am leary of anything 3rd party software driven and who knows if they'll be around tomorrow. At least Nvidia is here to stay. To me, this looks to be more problematic then a product directly supported by the hardware manufacturer producing both the software and hardware. It's also easy to setup and there's no bs involved. Either way you'll need a new video card (I doubt the 5770 is fast enough), 3D monitor, and some 3D glasses so the choice is yours. Go Nvidia and I'm not saying that because I own it, it's just the overall better product choice.

About iz3d letting down their customers time will show but there's no indications. I think they have found their niche in making stereodrivers and with the rising amount of 3dtv's they will have plenty of customers.
On the other side as an old-school stereogamer i personally have experience of nvidia letting down their 3d-customers...
The OP is talking on how to test and try 3d without throwing out money for it. The anaglyph is free within all driversolutions and if it falls in like he/she can later decide what solution to choose. Since OP have an ati card 3d-vision is out of the question if trying a cheap solution.
I agree nvidia isn't a bad choice but neither is iz3d-driver. Iz3d will be around in the future as well and it's actually good. Nvidia will be forced to make their drivers as good as possible and competition will gain all customers.
