3D Vision with external monitors on a laptop will not work 99.9% of the time, due to laptops not shipping with a Dual link DVI port which is required for 3D vision.

Yes, as Josh noted, you might not be able to get the right outputs to make it work. If the laptop also has Optimus you are likely hosed as well. Optimus is really bad.

Sorry, looks like that laptop has Optimus, meaning the HDMI output is connected to the Intel chip - meaning no dice.

Yeah, sorry, that Optimus is not a particularly great technology. It's incredibly wrong to not have an option to disable it when necessary.

It sounds like you got the version without an emitter. If that's true you need the external emitter.
Otherwise that system will work, but you'll have to turn down some settings to make it playable because the gts450 won't be quite enough for 3D.
