Has there been any information from the Dead Island devs with regards to 3D Vision? This title will look fantastic in 3D! The game is set for release on 09/09/2011

up to now, is rated as "Poor" by Nvidia. Maybe will get another better profile, who knows

I'm not coping to well with these major titles either not having 3D vision at all or poor ratings. :(
oh man, i really hope that rating is way off, like they sometimes can be... i definitely want to play this game, but probably wont really play it at all if these poor 3D support...

I think most major recent engines use the same techniques for eye candy at affordable performance, which unfortunately tends to break stereoscopy because a lot of those effects are not done at 3d depth. IMO it's up to nvidia to figure out how to do the same effects in 3d without large performance losses and inform the engine and game programmers if nvidia really wants to keep supporting 3dvision. Let's face it, sadly most game studios and most consumers still don't care about stereoscopy so the studios aren't willing to do the extra work themselves.

I asked this back in July and AcidBong gave me this response: "Uses Chrome Engine 5.. so chances are not good. None of the chrome engines have done real well with 3d vision. various lighting and shadow problems."

Based on this, I don't find it promising.
Hey, hey, hey, hey-now. Don't be mean; we don't have to be mean, cuz, remember, no matter where you go, there you are.
I really don't understand why people / devs / communities think that 3D is not worth investing time in, I really don't get it. It's immersive and realistic, offers a new dimension to gaming. I guess Dead Island will be played with my reading glasses on instead of a set of Nvidia 3D.

maybe you should try all the same.
Mnay people told that Deus Ex HR is very very very bad with 3D Vision, in fact i have tried with it + the new beta driver 280.36 (the newest one, not 280.26) and tell you what, even if 3D effects are not as good as in Fallout 3 or Mafia II, it is way better than barely OK; the only two bad things are: 1) strong ghost effects in enlighted environments and 2) depth is not so well seen for the background, like with Crysis 2 for instance.

If this is the case then maybe Nvidia can work some magic?

Actually that's one hell of an understatement.
