VIP 3D Displayer and 3D Theater - enables HDMI 1.4 3D for 60 hz displays
Supposedly these 2 adapters will allow non 3D displays to show HDMI 1.4 standard 3D.

3D-Theatre: $499.00 (Games, Movies, Satellite/Cable & Internet and 60Hz/120Hz TV/projector)

3D-Displayer: $299.00 (Games and Movies & 60Hz/120Hz TV/projector)

Expected release date is 12th Apr 2011

Here are some impressions on these adapters. Seems quite good so far -

I am guessing that on LCD TVs with pixel refresh rate of 6ms this will look like utter crap due to ghosting, but for 2D DLP projectors, this could be very cool. DLP tech having the ultra fast refresh rate could possibly pull off the 3D effect @ 30hz per eye.

Now the question is, will this work for Nvidia 3DTV Play? If this turns out to be the real thing, I would love to upgrade to a 2D 1080p projector and use it for my 3D gaming and movie watching.

Personally I think its BS. I mean, maybe it does something, but I bet it looks like crap. And I'm not sure how many people will pay for it considering you can buy a 32" Vizio HDMI 1.4 1080P 3D HDTV for under $500.

The only application I am considering this for is 1080p projectors. If I could get a decent 1080p projector (like Epson 8350)and get it to show acceptable 3d under 2000 dollars...win! Otherwise even without the 60hz its a decent substitute for the optima 3dxl

Vizio went to crap over the last year, most of all the store purchases have been returns on their models in the last year.

Reading those 3D reviews, it looks like a great product and I will buy it for my 65" DLP downstairs. Can't find a 65" DLP for $500 :)

Well I bought one ,I was waiting for the Optoma 3dxl but due to delays i opted for the Vip, Works like its suppose to with a true 3d projector hd66, but I cant get a signal to my NON 3d optoma HD20, tried everything. So for my opinon for $500.00 NO GLASSES NO POWER SUPPLY Just A little box, its way to much money. And I have bad artifacts showing up ,never had that with the HD 66 before. So Not worth the money. I should have stayed with the optoma. At least you get some glasses and it $120 cheaper. Still thinking of returning it.

Thanks for posting this. Yeah, the reception hasn't been very good for 60hz users with lots of ghosting or things not working. 120 hz PJ users say its alright but way overpriced.
Did you play with the dip switches on 60 hz display test? apparently they have to go up and down depending in the device is 60 or 120 hz...

It would be suprising if hd20 would work, cause it can't . Really only LCD projectors and LCD tv's stand a chance with this.

Why is that? Do tell... I figured DLP based projectors had the pixel response time to do this without ghosting but that some flickering at 30 hz may occur.

So I fooled around with the VIP some more. Im stubborn. My optoma DLP HD 20 was getting no signal ,So I removed a HDMI repeater that I had inline ,I kind of forgot I had put it in the wall ,my previous non 3d sony blueray had a weak output ,I had no signal without it but since have a new 3d bluray, seems I dont need it. Anyways removed the repeater and now I have a signal to the Optoma HD 20 with the VIP theater and it does go into shutter mode, So I ordered a emitter for it so soon as it arrives I will test it and post my view, I am a little leary @60hz but dont know till you try. The picture quality with just 2d is better with the HD 20 than the HD66 so if its good mmmmm? Seems that with the VIP attached inline the signal is strong even with a 50 ft HDMI cord. (tested with a media player and Bell expressview PVR.(Recorded 3D hockey game) SO if you have a repeater Not going to work for you.

its because with single chip DLP the colors arent shown at once, but one after another (cycled).

Bulb + colorwheel is not fast enough, colors are not cycled fast enough.

If it was LED+DLP , they could make the colors cycle at 900hz and more, maybe it wouldn't fall apart then.

If it was 3 DLP ( 3chip) then it wouldn't fall apart at all, because all colors are shown at once ( R + G + B ) .

SO i tried with the VIP emiter and the optoma hd 20.(non 120hz dlp) I got 2 green lights on the emiter and Have a 3d image but it is dark blue with the Vip dlp link glasses and range was about 1-2 ft NOT KIDDING!Tried all different buttons and even put power to the emiter. No go! My other DLP link glasses from 3D heaven do not work at all (8 pairs) So far not compatible with the VIP stuff. I have emailed VIP hoping for a fix but so far NOT Impressed at all.At least with the Optoma 3DXL It is compatible with all DLP Link Glasses. Of course Not going to give you 3d with a 60HZ projector but it works!
So far I have spent $737.00 on VIP stuff that does not do what they say. Maybe I have broken stuff. I will post again if they have a solution to my problems.
I could buy another HD66 for that!
I I dont like returning stuff but it will all go back to Consignia for a Optoma 3dxl since I have to use a HD66, the whole point of this was to be able to use a 60 hz DLp like they advertise.

Ok so I talked with a VIP guy and said, mmmmm maybe you should spend another $1200 for the RF glasses and emiter then you will have a good picture. HUH NO.Other brands of DLP link glasses are NOT compatible with the VIP DLP link emiter. So if you buy the VIP glasses and the emiter and lets say in a few years VIP goes away and you need to replace a few glasses your SOL.
This is not a good move on VIPs part. Propirotory stuff does not go well with me . Make things some what universal so people have a choice to use different brands of hardware. So bottom line its all going to back to consignia, for a optoma 3dxl.

So I sent all the VIP stuff back and finally recieved a Optoma 3dxl. Plugged it in and it works 100%. No ghosting or strange artifacts that I had with the VIP .And I got the 3dxl for $300.00.
I am happy now.

Please clarify. The 3D-XL will only work with your HD66, not your HD20, correct?

BTW, its probably way to late but when you ha the HD20 connected to the VIP did I you change your setting to 1280 x 720?
