I hope it's not April Fools, if it is I'm going to be sad :(
I do know that Sony recently replaced their head Playstation guy, so that much is true.
He supposedly said this and it would make sense, since their PC subscription based service wasn't doing as well as expected. These aren't exclusives, or recent releases, so I think it's true.
I'll find the article.

It was an April Fools joke.
To me, it only made sense, because of their PC subscription service.

Wow, what douche-bags.
Not really appropriate for an Aprils fools joke. it's infuriating, because this should definitely be the case, no joke.
But seeing how the xbox one x is doing (or not)with their play anywhere, I doubt sony would do this. They know why they are leading the console race at this point and it's their exclusive titles.
personally I think there shouldn't be such a thing as exclusives in this day and age, and everything should be crossplay

lol, I was pretty bummed after being so excited.
I have the God of War 3D package for the PS3, but haven't played it yet. I did play KillZone, but the 3D sucked in it.
They make little, to no money on the initial console sale. The profit lies in game sales.
It would make sense to sell old games to PC users, that have no intention of buying a console. Or if they do, they buy only 3 or 4 games. So in the long run, Sony loses a lot of potential money.
Also they lose money with emulators, if the user pirates content.
And who the hell wants to buy into their subscription service, not I. But I'd gladly buy any games that they sold outright for the PC. Whether it was thru Steam, GoG or their own digital distribution. I guess they are scared of GeForce Now :P

I brought a ps4 only so I could play tekken 7 with the user base there. I can't really abide playing anything else in 2d at this point.
Still salty that it wasn't cross play to ps4 like streetfighter 5 is due to the console wars, then i wouldn't have had to buy one at all...

I have that also. The 3d in it is fine and the games are fun but nowhere near as good as God of War 1, 2 or 3.

Exclusives are what ship consoles - if they bring them all to PC (not that I would mind) there is never going to be a point buying the console, right?
I'd still considering getting a PS4 because I would like to play Uncharted 4 and Until Dawn. I'd also like to play through Bloodbourne again and own my own copy. I'm only considering it because they are exclusives. So it's only 3 or 4 games, as you describe - but for Sony it is still better to sell another console even though I can pick up all of those games very cheap now, isn't it?

As D-Man11 pointed out, they don't make any real money on the console sale !
So Sony shouldn't worry to much about selling a console to you or not :)
Copy pasted from the Web:
Masayasu Ito, Sony Computer Entertainment senior vice president, has admitted that for every PS4 console sold, Sony will be losing money. (that was on release and things might have changed a bit)
Also I'm pretty sure that they won't sell less consoles, even if they did choose to release them on PC!
That said, I'll never buy a console, just to play a few exclusives in 2D, however if they where in 3D I would gladly pay 2- or even 3x the pricetag :)
I'd rather wait till sometime in the future, where I can play them with an emulator on PC!

I would have bought the Switch day 1 if it had stereoscopic 3D (the Nintendo 3DS introduced me to 3D games). It doesn't, so I didn't (yet).
Whenever someone asks me why I don't have a PS4 or Switch, I say "lol, no 3D".

Shadow of Colossus on PS3 has good 3d and resolution, just old style meshes and textures. The game was an artistic marvel though, so I think it is fine on PS3 as is.
I get what you guys are saying about consoles selling at a loss - but, over the lifespan, that loss decreases and eventually becomes a profit as the tech becomes cheaper to manufacture. Games have a month, 3 months tops, to make a big return on investment - after that they are a slow trickle.
Reverse the finances - you save a lot more percentage wise if you wait to buy a game then you do if you wait to buy a console. Which is counter intuitive when you think about it, because tech ages on a daily basis but good game-play is eternal.
Consoles still occupy a slightly different market to PCs - PCs aren't considered (by the general population) as home entertainment. Home entertainment needs exclusives for competition, like certain movies only being available on betamax, or bluray.
All this said, the home entertainment market, like cinema, is dying a slow death - entertainment is evolving into something more portable and personal.

Not entirely true :)
Copy pasted from the Web:
Grand Theft Auto V broke records when it first released in 2013 and it hasn’t left the best seller charts since. In fact, the game has now sold 90 million copies worldwide, with 15 million of those sales occurring in 2017 alone.
