Several game compatibility issues Troubles with starting some games with 3D Vision on Vista/Win7 32b
Hey guys,

before I start describing my problem, I´m gonna write down the configuration...

Intel Quadcore 6600 (2,4GHz@3.0GHz)
MSI k7n Platinum Sli
2 gigs of 1066 MHz DDR2
EVGA GeForce 260 GTX 216 nm
Samsung 2233RZ + stereostopic glassess in the set
620W Nvidia ed. power
SATA HDD / ATA DVD-RW

Windows 7 Build 7100/Win Vista SP1 - tested on both

Drivers tested:
Windows 7 - 3D Vision driver cd v 1.09
Windows Vista - 3D Vision driver cd v 1,09, graphics + 3d drivers versions: 185.85, 190.38

Problem:

Mirror´s Edge: Run´s with disabled stereoscopics with no problems, enabled stereoscopics - when the game tries to start itself, I see just black picture, after a while it starts blinking on low frequency white color, the only way how to get rid of this is ctrl+alt+del and kill the app, but u don´t get rid of the frequency. Tried it on W7 and several drivers of Vista, still the same problem

Midnight club 2: The game starts itself, the 3D Vision stats show itself, the display looks like blinking, but the picture is still 2D even if I raise the depth of the image, the game looks just the same with glassess as without them.
Tested on Win 7 with 3D Vision driver cd 1,09

Deus Ex - Invisible War: The game starts, menu is 3d a bit out of focus (as referred in the driver´s stats in control panel), but when the game starts, it looks just like in Midnight Club, except around the center of the screen there´s a menu around the whole center, which you can barely see in 3D... that doesn´t mind for me, but the missing of the 3D image of the game does... :P
Tested on Win 7 with 3D Vision driver cd 1,09

and now two older games, one engine...

Deus Ex v 1,12f, Unreal Tournament

There appears to be some problem to get those games working for me on both Vista / 7. If I try to run those games with 3D Vision disabled or without 3D Drivers completely, the game doesn´t start under Direct3D mode, software rendering goes fine, but when I try to run it under Direct3D, I get this error:

Critical Error
General protection fault!
History: UD3DRenderDevice: Unlock <- UD3DRenderDevice::Setres <- UD3DRenderDevice::Init <- UWindowsViewport:TryRenderDevice <-UWindowsViewport::OpenWindow <- UgameEngine::Init <- InitEngine

tried to google out some clues, but it was useless, I´ve tried to reinstall those games, but DX didn´t install any components, I´ve tried to install DirectX 9,0c, dxwebsetup for the missing components, nothing worked for me.

Finally I got some clue and I was able to run Unreal Tournament. I found some drivers that you copy to the system folder in UT and it lets you to use UT under DX10 then.
UT Runs fine with this "DX 10 Update" with stereo disabled, but when I enable it, it acts just like Mirror´s Edge - it´s just the same case as when I run that one.

The strange thing is, that when I copied Deus Ex and Unreal Tournament onto my USB flash card, I was able to run it at work on Windows Vista by simply clicking on the exe file. There was no need to install it or run it in the emulation mode. Everything just worked, any clues why am I having this problem?

Thanks lots for any Ideas, Im just sooo desperate :)
John

p.s.: I´ve ran several games in 3D with no probs, Assassin´s Creed, NFS Undercover, Fallout 3, NFS Underground, Left 4 Dead, those worked just fine for me.

mirror's edge doesn't work for me either! I pushed the button to enable the stereo but nthing completely FLAT!
My best 3d experience was with codemaster Grid. Have a nice one aso with oblivion.
