One more thing you could try is disable the "3D enabled on game launch" option with either one of these tools: 3D Fix Manager http://helixmod.blogspot.com/2017/05/3d-fix-manager.html or http://helixmod.blogspot.com/2015/10/advanced-3d-vision-configuration.html
As far as I know this game is very demanding and having your CPU overclocked + 3D enabled on startup might cause stability issues so maybe the last game patch is triggering this problem now. DHR reported this happened to him with Mass Effect Andromeda after not playing the game for a long time.
Also, there used to be a profile flag for certain games to delay 3D mode from triggering for a few seconds after a game has started. This was probably a workaround for these types of crashes.

Interesting, I should check this out.

If you are at the start of the game, you can try deleting the save/settings file, and then reconfigure it.
If your GPU is overclocked, you can always try Nvidia's debug mode, I've never used it, but it's supposed to set GPUs to stock/default clocks.

In looking over the forums over the past few days, the startup crash with ACO v 1.2 seems to go beyond a conflict with 3D Vision - looks like quite a few people are having the same problem for different reasons.
I filed a ticket with Ubi tech support and they are aware of the issue... we'll see...

Btw out of curiosity how does the game crash / hang ? Do you see any window being created ? does it go full screen ? do you get a black screen ? is it a silent crash ?

Can you guys try adding both acorigins_steam.exe and acorigins.exe to the Assassin's Creed: Unity or Agents of Mayhem profile? These profiles have something that might work. You can customize them after if it does indeed work.

Perhaps the issue that eXtremeDevil is having, is an insight into the current problem. If Uplay recently updated their overlay, perhaps roll back somehow and use "offline" mode?
Be sure to unplug you ethernet prior to launch, so it doesn't re-update.
I wish EA had an offline mode :(

Okay, I will try some of the new ideas.
Overlay is already off for Uplay
Just a question who else in the community has the game, just to make it easier to try out the mentionned ideas?
if i start the game with the migoto wrapper and set force no nvapi=1
the game starts but stereo is disabled. I really think ubisoft disabled
any stereo call attempt or maybe we have to wait till they fix it.

Please don't stone me! I play now in 2D.
