tried going to an old driver (190.62) but i still get the stuttering, it's not an over heat issue either, as the game runs smooth with everything to max, yet with 3d vision enabled it stutters even with everything set to absolute lowest settings
anyone have any idea's?
I know that this is a very frowned upon fix here, but if you have SLI cards, try disabling SLI mode and see if it helps. Very rarely (but it does happen to me) I have to disable SLI to play a game without flicker for some reason even though that should have nothing to do with it. Run something like furmark for about 5 mins with your current settings and make sure you can get about 10-15 fps with everything maxed with no artifacts. Once I hit that point, I didn't have any problems with any game at 60fps maxed in 3d.
oh also, what tv/monitor are you using? there are different ways to fix different monitors/tvs unless i am horribly mistaken xD
Agreed. Hopefully they can change this with new driver updates when Fermi launches. It should certainly have the power, also with full DX11 support.
Doesn't need new hardware, just some lovin from nvidia in the driver department. For instance using iZ3Ds driver you can use dynamic lighting in the first Stalker. Only difference is iZ3D put more effort into supporting the game and fixing the issues it has in 3D.

Since I've seen http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A-TwgC5Q0PM&hd=1 I wish I'm 3D equipped.
Yet I have the awesome Fujifilm FinePix REAL 3D W1 camera and I'm collecting 3D souvenirs for 2 months already, it will be great to watch this in a few months when 3D will be everywhere.
I'm very tempted for 3D and the AW2310 looks great but I will wait for the Viewsonic that is LED and see how it compare. I hope nVidia will have new updated glasses by then. And of course, the new Fermi based video card. A lot of money to save until then!
Anyway, the day I will have the glasses and the monitor, I plan to replay all S.T.A.L.K.E.R.
What driver versions are you guys using? just got the steam version but have weird stutter every second or so when 3d is enabled, it goes away if i turn 3d off.
The same thing occurs in clear sky now, which was perfect before, so thinking the latest nvidia drivers are the problem? any advice on an older driver to use would be great
I'm right with ya there. It's annoying enough that I've put the game on back burner for now, which is a shame because it looks like a return to teh originals awesome atmosphere, but hopefully with improved gameplay/AI and less bugs.
I bought 3xgtx 280s for less than $650, then I traded one of the gtx 280s for a gtx 260 216 so that I could have it dedicated for physx. All in all a pretty good deal for me. I understand your point though.
That said, even if most people couldn't run it now, next gen it would be pretty easy for a mid to high range card to run the game with dynamic lighting in 3d stereo without too much problem.
Exactly. I'm always thinking about how awesome it will be to re-play games like Crysis and GTA4 and other system hogging behemoths with completely maxed out settings, with a solid 60fps while in 3D mode. If they can fix the dynamic shadows and such somehow too, that would be perfect. I know it will have to be something that Nvidia does in teh drivers or through a patch, because rockstar is pretty lame when it comes to adding any sort of support for PC-specific enhancements.

Finally got round to trying Call Of Pripyat in 3D, and indeed Clear Sky too. Here's what I noticed-
Clear Sky you need to turn on the nvidia crosshair, which makes the regular in-game crosshair work in 3D. Call of Pripyat you don't need to do this, the crosshair is already 3D.
Clear Sky and Call of Pripyat both seem to have proper depth skies unlike Shadows of Chernobyl.
Sadly all three Stalkers look pretty bad with static lighting. I don't understand why this is necessary for 3D Vision, because the iZ3D drivers work with dynamic lighting IIRC. Really wish nVidia would/could do something about this. These are the three games I bought 3D Vision mostly for, and they look so much worse with static lighting that I'd almost rather play them in 2D (i.e. not stereo). It's not just the lighting that changes, with static lighting, all the fancy effects are disabled. It's tragic because the Stalker games have the best worlds to explore in 3D.
I also noticed the drivers thought Call of Pripyat was Clear Sky.

There are several basic features that iZ3D has that Nvidia after 3 years still can't catch up with. It is sad but inevitable to deduce that Nvidia simply does not have the expertise/resource/talent to do this.
I'm planning to sell both my 285 GTX and 3D Vision glasses as soon as the ATI/iZ3D + Bit Cauldron alliance comes to fruition, at least I'll live without having to fear that ATI/iZ3D can just drop my Samsung DLP support at any time like with Nv. And if they have to fix their careless bugs I won't have to feel like they are doing me a personal favor.
It's been forever and I still can't play Avatar in S3D with my Samsung DLP, what is the excuse for the delay of driver release this time? Nv owes the users a communication post if not a formal apology for this big slight.

I don't think it is that they aren't taking things seriously ... i think they are spread a bit thin. You gotta remember we are near the launch of the Fermi and they are going to pool resources to that. Aswell nVidia tackles a lot of other things ati isnt even blinking at.

In Call of Pripyat the crosshair was already 3D for me. It doesn't look any different to the games normal crosshair btw, but you'll notice if you close alternate eyes it's on the same point in the world.
However the graphics are so much worse with static lighting I really don't think it's worth the effort of using 3D, plus the irons sights weren't lining up right in 3D for me, and I think I read any gun with a scope will have the same issue too. The game needs a bunch of work from GSC to make it work right in 3D, and since it's an ATI sponsored game, I can't see that hapenning.

Perhaps, however, is there anyone dedicated to 3d vision or isn't there? I don't know, keeping current customers is just as important as getting new ones. I think we have been waiting an unreasonable amount of time for profiles. I mean, they're just profiles, if we had the ability to make our own, then it wouldn't be a problem, but because they insist on this super draconian control of 3dvision, they open themselves up to criticism for not updating often enough. /pinch.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':pinch:' />

I'm going to buy 2 Fermi if possible, I'm getting a bonus from work that should do it, but I will probably just get the one and build a new pc with the rest.

Yeah they seem to do some real daft things. It would nice if they could give us the 'Why?' to some of their reasons, but i think until ATI get their 3rd parties moving with 120hz support we'll be stuck with this monopoly induced treatment. What ever happened to 'the customer is always right!' ?!

Exactly. I'm always thinking about how awesome it will be to re-play games like Crysis and GTA4 and other system hogging behemoths with completely maxed out settings, with a solid 60fps while in 3D mode.

I do feel as if nV isn't really taking things seriously sometimes.

That said, even if most people couldn't run it now, next gen it would be pretty easy for a mid to high range card to run the game with dynamic lighting in 3d stereo without too much problem.
SLI with a dedicated physx too ??

Yeah they seem to do some real daft things. It would nice if they could give us the 'Why?' to some of their reasons, but i think until ATI get their 3rd parties moving with 120hz support we'll be stuck with this monopoly induced treatment. What ever happened to 'the customer is always right!' ?!
