Problem with nvd3dum.dll Doesn't work 3D Vision
Hello all,

I have Adobe Arobat X Pro version: 10.0.1.434. Everything works great up to now. Last time I done upgrade my system to windows 7 64bit with SP1. When I open pdf file in adobe acrobat everything works great, but when I open second file in pdf, I receive this problem that Adobe acrobat stopped working and I receive this error : nvd3dum.dll. I have red somewhere that it will be due to driver to graphic card or DirectX. I upgraded them to a new but nothing, problem still remained. I also noticed that doesn't work 3D Vision after upgrade :( system to SP1. Now I know that certainly this is due to SP1 :(.
Here is problem details:

Hi

The file you are referencing is not a 3D Vision driver, its the generic NVIDIA Direct3D driver which handles all DirectX applications. I suggest you contact our support team for help.

It is caused by a new service pack 1 to windows 7 (64bit) and graphic driver 266.58 /confused.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />. I would like to ask whether someone has the same problem as me after upgraded its windows 7.

There might be something about 3D Vision triggering the problem, but my case was different. People who use MSI's Afterburner had the same problem, DX9 apps would crash others could have performance problems. Some claimed uninstalling MSI's Afterburner and applying the SP1 would circumvent the problem, there's a new version that shouldn't have that issue.

I am having the same error, among others with Dragon Age: Origins... but I have no 3D... This makes me wonder if I should have installed the 3D drivers... :-\

Other software might trigger the same (or similar) problem, FRAPS for example(A new version was released that doesn't cause these issues).

Seems that anything that "hooks" into nvd3dum.dll ran into problems. (Not trying to imply in any way that its NVidia's fault)

Good news. A person over at guru3d.com forums who had a issue with nvd3dum.dll has resolved his issue. He said it was caused by importing his existing profiles from another NVidia driver.

Read about his solution here: http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=341287&page=4 but he actually states his initial problem on the page before that page.

I also had this problem after installing Service Pack 1 on my Windows 7 64-bit system. The problem did not exist before installing the service pack. After many weeks of trial and error, which included a call to a very rude NVIDIA technical support rep that insisted I call Microsoft because the problem "was caused by DirectX", I have solved the problem...At least in my case.

Not only did I see failures caused by nvd3dum.dll, but the faulting module was also reported as ntdll.dll, kernel32.dll, BlackOps.exe, and BlackOpsMP.exe.

All of the following games would cause the error:
Alien Swarm, Call of Duty: Black Ops (both single and multi-player), Call of Duty, Modern Warfare 2 (both single and multi-player), Command & Conquer Kanes Wrath, Command & Conquer Tiberium Wars, Counter Strike: Source, Day of Defeat: Source, Left 4 Dead, Left 4 Dead 2, Mafia II, and Team Fortress 2.
My NVIDIA graphics cards are manufactured by EVGA so I run some of the software supplied by EVGA including an application called EVGA Precision. When EVGA Precision is running, the problem occurs whenever launching these games but if I stop EVGA Precision, the problem no longer exists.

So, in an effort to isolate the vendor responsible for the problem, I suppose my question is are any of you running EVGA Precision with EVGA graphics cards?

Thank You so much, I was freaking for a couple weeks, thinking I was responsible for screwing up my comp.
I could not play any versions of Trackmania, or Flat Out Carnage.
Ge Force 430 with EVGA Precision.

Shut off EVGA precision and all is good.
Once again Thanks.
