Why no convergence in some games? Stereo working but no convergence? Why?
Does anyone know why some games work in stereo but without convergence?

Do you mean you can't tune it, or there aren't any when you switch the 3D on?
If you didn't know, you can tune convergence with hotkeys, check the advanced settings inside the driver window.

Everything works fine with most of the older games. I know how to use the hotkeys and all that. I keep the stereo enabled when entering games. With some games (mostly newer releases) the stereo work but theres no convergence. You can use the seperation tool but not the convergence tool...
You see two seperated "feedbacks" but it stays 2d...

If I'm reading you correctly, when you separate, the entire image splits, but it is not proportional to reflect distance. Am I correct? This might be related to post processing effects.

Try turning off the post processing effects. In fact, turn all the display settings to minimum with the exception of resolution. See if it behaves the same way. If this solves the problem, turn the display settings back up one by one. The culprits tend to be post processing effects (e.g. HDR, Bloom) and shader level.

Just in case you missed it, make sure the "Advanced Settings" are activated in the stereo driver control panel.

Hi Chopper,

I've tried this with "Tribes Vengeance". And it worked. The "Glow detail" setting caused the problem, so I turned it off. But it doesn’t work with the newer games. I tried it with oblivion but without success...

I was thinking this problem had something to do with the drivers I am using? I’m using the 163.75 FW and the 162.50 stereo with a 7300gt on XP. What is the latest FW driver compatible with the 162.50 stereo driver?

Now I really see the problem you are having! You're using out of date equipment! I don't think you will do much better with your existing driver solution.

I can't make recommendations for you here except to check out this forum and ours to get member opinions about available hardware and software solutions. You are currently suffering compared to what you can potentially do in S-3D.

lol thanks. Didn't really think about that but it could be. Probably because the games were released after the hardware were released… Heard the 7 series are the best GPUs for stereo?

If you are gaming with out of date equipment...yes. In fact, the 6800 series might even be better. If you are using modern S-3D drivers and solutions, you have several options. For this forum, the solution discussed is the NVIDIA GeForce 3D Vision glasses.

really depends on what hardware you are using, as chopper said- old nvidia drivers support up to nvidia 7900GTS and also there were some results with nvidia 8800GTS. New nvidia drivers don't have this limitation but don't support non-nvidia shutterglasses. Check out this hardware guide for more info on the different types of equipment:

Thanks. I will wait for the bundle to hit the shelves. Believe its going to be a very popular item in the coming years...haha. So far my experience with the stuff I have, was....gave me a totally different experience with games. I will play ANY game which works in stereo. It is unbelievable. If were an investor, I would’ve invested all my money in this. lol
