MAYA & Zbrush Support for 3d vision Is it or will it ever be possible?
Though 3d vision works well with games, can it be used with 3d modeling applications such as Maya and Zbrush? I know Maya has the ability to render stereoscopic 3d movies, but I'm looking for a way to use these apps with 3d vision for animating and modeling in 3d in real-time.

I am an animator myself and I would love to use 3d vision in Maya but as far as I know it doesn't work. I think if u have workstation cards it is supposed to work with those but I'm not sure.

I use Maya Unlimited 2009 every day. I use it with anaglyph glasses because I'm using a Quadro card. My 3D vision system is right next to my Maya machine. The stereo view menu includes an active option which is (for me) ghosted out). The manual specifically mentions that this is for us ewith active shutter glasses.

Do you own Maya, or are you planning a purchase?

I'm on XP Pro at the moment. I'm about to upgrade (clean install) to W7 64bit. Then I shall fiddle about with installing the drivers, etc.

Thanks for the advice, though.

Yess, and now I must get a quadro card too. 3d is the future

Wow so it's that simple? Do you think this will work in mudbox too? I suppose you can adjust the depth for each object and such, setting up even a whole 3d environment literally in the viewport without waiting to render?

If you have a Quadro card you can use 3D Vision in any application that does support Quad Buffer OpenGL mode, this allows you have S3D view in a windows and not only in a full screen as with 3D Vision and GeForce that only supports Direct 3D. Have in mind that Quad Buffer OpenGL is a special mode and is not equal to generic OpenGL... so it will not work with OpenGL games or programs that can either use Direct 3D or OpenGL renderer, the software must specifically support Quad Buffer OpenGL mode.

I am a Maya user and I would very much like this functionality supported on the Geforce consumer cards.

I am a Maya user too. What would be great is to make a 3dVision output for the native 3dStereo Camera Rig included in Maya 2010. It already has some 3d outputs, like Anaglyph, Side-by-Side, etc.

What do you want it to do that it doesn't already do?
