Stereo And SLI Causing BSOD
I recently purchasd 2 7600GT's, and it appears when I attempt to run any DirectX games in SLI mode while in stereo, I get a BSOD and the computer reboots. I tried an OpenGL game, NoLimits Coaster, and this works fine. If I run both stereo tests, with the little square inside or outside if the big square, it works, as the does Nvidia logo that moves away and comes close to the screen. If I disable SLI, everything works fine. I have uninstalled the drivers and re-installed the drivers, as well as tried different one, but no luck. Is this a known issue or should it be working? If it is suppose to be working, does anyone have any ideas? If it makes any difference, I am using the eDimensional 3-D glasses. Thank you!

Mike.

I'm sorry to say that SLI is one of the less supported features in S-3D. Same with Dual Core.

And i add to Chopper comments, i'm sorry to say that Nvidia new products and new technology like dual core are the less supported in S-3D,OS and Drivers. Sell your 7600 Sli and buy an Ati you will not have Stereo but no surprise too /haha.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':haha:' />

That's to bad, and I have a AMD Dual Core processor as well, lol. Maybe in the future then we'll have some better luck.

Well, the dual core isn't a big problem for now. You just have to turn one of the cores off. Are you doing that already? Maybe the BSOD has less to do with SLI than it does with dual core?

I didn't try setting the affinity to 1 CPU, I just turned off SLI. I will try that when I get home later on tonight though and we'll see what happens.

You need to do more than set affinity. Go into MSCONFIG, ADVANCED, CPU=1 and reboot.

There are other ways of doing this, but this is the most direct and safest.

Use Nhancer is far better to shutdown one core for each app or game you want, and you can tweak dx/ogl settings too, with that you shutdown one core on only the app/game and not all windowsXP kernel/library etc... so it isn't so mutch slown than remove the whole core for all windowsXP, even try to launch app/game with two cores sometime it work if you don't play to start/stop stereo in app/game, i mean if you let the stereo on before starting the app/game, i hope this help but Nhancer is really a nicer solution for two cores, i talk about core2duo intel. /heart.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> /heart.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> /heart.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

In my experience most games do work with Am2 and both cores on. Some need a special treatment like oblivion. nHancer worked for this one for me...
good luck
