One thing you guys need to understand is that the display must have frame sequential 3D mode compability and have a DVI-D connection. If it doesn't have real 120hz, like in 2D mode, and only carries HDMI inputs, it won't work for 3D Vision.
You can overcome all the software barriers with hacking as long as you have the required hardware.
The unsupported Samsung monitors, S27A950D can work with 3D Vision with the right hacking, cause it support Frame sequential mode, and is fully capable of real 120hz, both in 2D and 3D modes. It also has a DVI-D connection. On the other hand, the Samsung model T27A950D won't work with 3D Vision, cause it lacks DVI-D connection, it doesn't have real 120hz, only 60hz input. This monitor was made for console 3D gaming and bluray3D playback, not for PC gaming.
That's why I suspect this Playstation 3D monitor should only have HDMI connections and 60hz input, so it will not work with 3D Vision, it might work with 3DTV Play though, cause of the HDMI 1.4 compability.

Francomg,
With 3DTV Play and a properly modified .ini file, the Playstation 3D Display plays games in 3D. Everything worked as expected until 300.X drivers were released, which borked 3D play. If anyone knows a solution that doesn't require purchasing extra hardware, the community (myself included) would greatly appreciate it.

Yes I know that, but you would still be limited to 1080p24hz or 720p60hz. I was just saying that this monitor was not suitable for 3D Vision, cause this monitor is not true 120hz and doesn't have a DVI-D connection, but I always knew that using a proper EDID you could use it perfectly with 3DTV Play, as it meets the required hardware.
Why is that with these new 300 drivers the EDID override no longer works for the Playstation monitor, what happened? EDID overrides no longer work??? I think they should, cause I still use Rollermod (EDID override) to enable checkerboard in my TV and using drivers 306 WHQL.

Francomg,
To be honest, I'm not sure why it stopped working. I would be willing to do some brunt work to find out, but I just updated to Windows 8, and I've heard that 3DTV Play does not work with Windows 8. However, I've also heard that beta drivers support 3DTV Play in Windows 8?
If anyone else in the community has found a way to get the monitor working again, I'd love to find out! There's nothing like playing Trine in 3D :)

I'm glad I found an active thread where people are looking for solutions! Glad to know I'm not on my own..
So here's my situation;
Have the Sony Playstation 3D Display (24") that is hooked up to my laptop with a GTX 460. I'm on the newest Nvidia drivers. I've been messing with modded .inf files for the last 5 hours straight, and I've come very close to fixing this.
Basically, as of now, my computer picks up and properly displays any 3D game or SBS movie. Nvidia 3D detects it as a 3d compatible device too! The problem here lies in the glasses themselves. When I'm setup via this method, the glasses don't want to pair up / activate the active shutters, thus rendering the 3D pointless.
Would anyone have an idea where to go from here?

I dont know if I can be of any help, but I got this display setup at our stand at the EuroGamer expo, playing Trine 2 in 3D and it worked beautifully. I was using windows 7 though

Just going to give this post another little bump.
I am too experiencing the same issues with 3DTV play not recognizing the modded .inf files and haven't been able to find a solution as of yet.
It is disappointing as PC games like Crysis 2 work flawlessly with this TV using the in-game switch to 3D side-by-side without 3DTV Play.
I wouldn't think it would be that hard for nvidia to support this TV...I mean, it seems tailor made to be used as a PC monitor given it's size and feature set.
Hopefully a solution is discovered soon as I really don't want to roll back drivers all the way to the 200.X series in order to get 3D. :(

I just wanted to add some info to this thread for those that may have picked up this monitor on Black Friday like I did. I knew it would take some
'hacking' to make things work, as I've been looking into getting this monitor for months. At $99 I couldn't pass it up.
Anyway, here I what I've accomplished so far.
3D video:
Just hooking up the monitor to my GTX 460 with the latest Nvidia drivers (310.54) and using PowerDVD12 I was able to play 3D sidebyside (SBS) video files.
I don't have a blueray drive in my PC so I'm not sure about that, but I'd bet it would play just fine.
I tried the Nvidia 3D player program (http://www.nvidia.com/object/3d-vision-video-player-1.7.2-driver.html) but that didn't work. Guess it only works
with the 3D vision hardware vice the 3D play type setup I'm working with here.
I also installed the Nvidia 3DTV Play trial (available at http://www.nvidia.com/object/3dtv-play-14day-trial.html). This didn't seem to change anything
for me initially, but I suspected it is doing something in the background. After I installed it, and chose the trial period, the setup ran and I got the
test with the spinning NVIDIA logo and letters.
When I tried to play videos on the http://www.3dvisionlive.com/ site, I only saw side by side video or no 3D effect at all. I started messing around with
.inf files and drivers and managed to get them to work. I found an .inf here (http://3dvision-blog.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=2357) called Nvidia
Unsupported 3DTV (EDID Override).inf. I installed it and it makes my Windows 7 (x64) box think it's a Denon AVAMP. That inf didn't seem to change what
the Nvidia control panel reports though. It shows my Stereoscopic 3D display type: as HDMI Blu-Ray 3D. I can enable the stereoscopic 3D checkbox but
everything under it is greyed out.
The video on the 3Dvision site still didn't work until I rolled back my geforce drivers to 296.10. Now with all the stuff I've done above I can see the
pictures and video on that site in 3D. The HTML 5 video on youtube don't seem to work for me though...
I haven't had any luck yet in games. I have Borderlands 2 installed but it doesn't shift to 3D. I've set my resolution in the Nvidia control panel to HD 3D - 720p, 1280 x 720 and that is the resolution the game is set to run in, but nothing. I'm guessing as others have mentioned maybe this is just the latest hassle with this setup. Seems like a lot of folk have lost 3D function in newer drivers.
Well, that is what I've come up with in the last couple of days. Hope it helps someone out there!

I got one on black friday and it works with my games like BF3, but I cant remove the green writing in the lower right corner. And in Wow I can get 3D Depth but can't get the ingame settings to do anything.

Update to may last post. I got the display working in games too. Many thanks to all those that have worked on this so far.
As you may recall from my last post, I had 3D video working but my 3D control panel was greyed out. I followed the directions I found on this page:
http://forums.redflagdeals.com/nvidia-3dtv-play-mod-sony-playstation-3d-display-1175972/
I replace the DENON AVAMP .inf with the NVIDIA Unsupported 3DTV (EDID Override) available on that site.
Windows control panel showed the change, but the Nvidia control panel still showed my monitor as HDMI Blu-Ray 3D. I then rolled back my GeForce driver with the 296.10 package (clean install). Finally, I uninstalled the Nvidia 3DTV Play software and reinstalled it. Once I reinstalled the 3DTV Play trial, I got the option to set depth, hot keys, and the laser sight. It also shows that the trial is active for 14 days and the Stereoscopic 3D display type is now listed as 3D TV Play.

Can't tell you about the newer cards... I'm running a GTX 460. I think I read somewhere that the 600 series require 300+ drivers. You may try downloading the older set and doing a custom install. I remember that under the custom menu the installer shows the versions for a whole list of drivers like display, Physx, 3D Vision, etc. Maybe you can just downgrade the 3D stuff and leave the main driver alone.

That's why I suspect this Playstation 3D monitor should only have HDMI connections and 60hz input, so it will not work with 3D Vision, it might work with 3DTV Play though, cause of the HDMI 1.4 compability.
