I apologize if this is not the proper forum, but I couldn't find any specific to Quadro users.

I have a Samsung 120Hz LCD display (3D Vision Ready) connected to a Quadro FX 380 on a Windows Vista box. I have installed the latest drivers (197.03 Display and 191.00 USB stereo for Quadro) and followed the configuration instructions in http://www.nvidia.com/object/quadro_pro_graphics_boards.html.
However, contrary to adverstised, OpenGL stereo doesn't work in my applications (winCoot and PyMol). Both applications accept switch to quad-buffered stereo without any error but the USB emitted stays dark green and no stereo image appears.

I have tested a Quadro FX580 in the same box and the emitter does turn bright green, a double image appears on the screen, BUT no stereo is visible with the glasses turned on. This card is listed as probably needing a VBIOS update (and mine probably does) but it is surprising that it gave better results than the FX 380.

Also, the FX380 was tested on a WinXP Pro system. Here, the emitter turns on, the glasses as well, but after a few seconds and a lot of flickering the stereo turns off even though the emitter stays on and the double image remains on the screen.

Since NVIDIA chose not to support OpenGL stereo in GeForce cards and the Quadro cards with a direct stereo connection (3-pin miniDIN) are quite expensive, I thought the FX 380 would be an affordable solution since the applications i'm interested in (model building and visualization in structural biology) are available for windows and are based on OpenGL stereo. Also, Linux OpenGL stereo (again, for reasons privvy to NVIDIA) is only supported on Quadro boards with 3-pin miniDIN connectors.

I would appreciate help on getting my Windows OpenGL stereo applications to work with at least the Quadro FX 380 and I think it would be very useful if NVIDIA distributed an OpenGL stereo demo to check driver installation (similarly to the Direct3D stereo checks).

Thanks in advance,

A.

Hi ,

I used to play on a Toshiba non-3D-ready projector ...with additional vga dongle and 3D Vision glasses.

With the new Acer H5360 max separation is fixed at a very low level . This doesnt make any sense because projectors dont have a fixed screensize .
Is there any possibility to change that in a future driver release ?!? I think there are many users who have that problem .

And by the way I get no constant sync with both cables VGA or DVI/HDMI ... theres heavy color shifting . With the additional vga dongle its working flawlessly .

Hello,
I haven't been able to get 3d vision working with my new 3d-ready Viewsonic PJD6531w projector yet.

The projector is never detected as 3d-ready in the stereoscopic setup wizard. This is because whenever the wizard starts, it changes the resolution from the one I have selected to 1280x800 @59hz.
As far as I know, 3d should work at the projector resolution 1024x768 @120hz, but even though it is in that resolution when I start the wizard, the wizard forces the native 1280x800 resolution and therefore reports no 3d ready display found.

Using CD1.23

I have tested this on a gtx275 with windows 7 64bit and a dual core e8600, as well as w7x64 on an e8500 with a gts240, in both cases no change between hdmi and vga.

Any advice would be highly appreciated.

Thankyou

Hi,

I too was wondering if there will be a possible update to enable higher seperation whilst using the H5360 projector. Using cd1.19 i can tweak the registry to add more depth. However all driver cd upwards i have not been able to do this.

Thanks in advance,

Phil.

Hello, as no one has responded yet I will post again.

I haven't been able to get 3d vision working with my new 3d-ready Viewsonic PJD6531w projector.

The projector is never detected as 3d-ready in the stereoscopic setup wizard.
This is because whenever the setup wizard starts, it CHANGES the resolution from the one I have selected to 1280x800 @59hz.
The setup program blindly changes from the compatible resolution to the incompatible resolution, for no discernable reason.
No other program changes my resolution thusly.
3d should work at the projector resolution 1024x768 @120hz. This is the resolution I have set.
But even though it is in that resolution when I start the setup wizard, the wizard changes to the native 1280x800 @59hz resolution and therefore incorrectly reports no 3d ready display found.

Using CD1.23, 1.22... all of them.

I have tested this on 2 different computers independently, and 2 different video cards GTX275, GT240

Advise whether this is an NVIDIA issue or a VIEWSONIC issue adn I will pursue it correctly.

Thankyou

I had similar problems with my old video card. I was only able to get 3d enabled correctly with CD versions 1.18 or lower. good luck.

i have Samsung rz2233 and i lower the brightness for desktop mode.
When i start the game, brightness sets at 100% (for the purposes of 3d stereo gaming).
My problem is: if i dont wanna play the game in 3d stereo i turn off the effect with CTRL+T but the brightness remains PAINFULLY high. Can i control this somehow in-game?
Or the only way is to turn on/off 3d stereo manually in nvidia control panel (it does the trick).

Toms hardware had an excellent article about setting up a cheap large 3D front projection system involving dual projectors. They did this under the cost of many of the smaller and lower quality solutions for 3D. I am planning on building a two projector system for both ambient light rejection and 3D projection.

The article does point out a major flaw with frame alternative systems in that if you have more than say 2 people it get prohibitively expensive to buy the active glasses (~100 each) verses the pennies to a few dollars for passive glasses.

http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/3d-pol...ector,2589.html

They also point out that Nvidia's 3D vision system does not support dual projector outputs. This is odd given that it can be much cheaper to create a workable multi viewer HTPC/Gaming setup on a passive polarized projection system than say having to buy expensive glasses for each viewer you add.

Main question is will Nvidia support dual projectors as for DIY setups it is fairly trivial to setup a polarized setup especially if you have a light controlled room you can opt for cheap plastic plate filters under low light output projectors. With enough skill I think it is even possible to laminate those cheap plastic film glasses onto camera IR/UV cut filters and make your own heat resistant filter.

We projector users need more depth and have been asking for some time now still nothing has been done
the depth looks like it's stuck at 50%
