Dragon Age II in 3D

I'd have liked if the 360 controller was natively supported too. I played Dead Space 1 & 2 on the PC that way and it was fun. Theres a few bits on the PC version that cry out "designed with button-mashing in mind" such as when your mage does a basic attack combo, then you move your character off in mid attack, and all seems well, then a few seconds later the ground infront of them starts glowing and the final combo animation takes place and shoots off into the distance when you've no enemy selected and it accomplishes nothing. It just screams "okay, console combat coding complete, lets add auto-attack to the PC version and hope for the best"

That said, I like the game, perhaps not as much as Dragon Age 1.

Wait, so NVIDIA released a profile for this game and it performs horribly? What is the NVIDIA rating?

How can it be possible that you can't control convergence? A game like this usually can have the convergence set high with about 15%-20% depth.

Jenson, you can adjust convergence. Maybe you have different 3d vision then i have but I have newest driver. Secondly even though it says dragon age 2 profile I don't think its anything other then standard since 3d vision hasnt been updated since release/demo. Its not bad id say 8/10 3d vision. And for people who say its dumb down. Try playing on nightmare much more in depth gameplay then origins. Inventory is dumbed down but wow combat is a whole new experience.

Gonna have to agree as well. 3D isn't that bad, you can't play with a massive depth setting, but other than that it looks good. They did dumb down some aspects of the game, but not as near as bad as FFXIII. Play on Nightmare, battles will be intense and require a lot of strategy. Game is still lots of fun and I still have to pull myself away from the computer like I did with the first.

I played some more last night and on HARD difficulty, I got wiped with the first Orge (in the Prologue) several times. Ouch! I was running around trying to dodge his rushes but he got the best of me too much. I had to turn the difficulty down to NORMAL in order to get past that section of the game. I like running around more now. It's much better than standing still and just pressing buttons. I'm getting hooked into the game and the 3D is a MUST!! But it's so broken in the city., Arrgghh! I need a patch to really enjoy this game!

Graphics are the most impressive that Bioware has put out (I'm using DX11 with Highres texture pack).

I'm playing on nightmare :P

Had to change to hard for 2 encounters(ogre battle in beginning) But then again it was totally unfair since I was sword and shield and so is aveline so we couldnt get enough dmg output.

Makes playing it more fulfilling. Much more complex and difficult then origins. Be warned people who plan to play nightmare. Dagger rogues arent so hot for nightmare.

Wait a sec... profile?? The beta drivers from last week say they 'improve compatibilty' with DA2, they don't say anything about adding a 3D profile. Is DA2 in the 3D compatibility list now?

It's very nice to hear that you can change difficulty level on the fly! A lot of games won't let you do that. Instead you have to play "guess the real difficulty." Failing to guess correctly means you must restart the game after several hours.

That wasn't 3d vision related. "Improves compatibility" applies to nvidia cards.(2d)

I'm playing on Nightmare with a dagger Rogue. I have yet to bump the difficulty down to get past any part of the game. It is more than doable.

It annoys the s*** out of me playing as a Two Handed Sword beserker on nightmare. You cannot have him attack an enemy with another melee type character unless they are positioned at opposite sides since the sword inflicts damage all around and it ends up almost always insta-killing your ally when you perform a whirlwind attack or mightblow. Even on opposite sides mighty blow will kill your ally.

Friendly-fire spells are fine except for when you cast winter's grasp on an enemy, and it ends up freezing both the target, and your ally right beside them, which if he doesn't have a high magic resistance you end up killing him. Not sure if its a bug or what.

3D effects look ok when at wildness location after adjusting convergence. cutscenes have problem of depth consistency (hurting eyes).

however, when move into the city locations, all sorts of visual anomalies appear. too bad, since DA:O is great with 3d vision.
