WoW Patch 4.2 & 3D Vision Errors since patch of wow
1 / 2
Since the new World Of Warcraft Patch (4.2) the 3D properties in world of warcraft have not been working correctly.
Changing the convergence setting is not making any difference, and the depth is not as good as before, there is far less detail, and the models no longer appear to come out of the screen at all.
The quality of 3D has been greatly lowered.
I saw other comments on this at the end of the 4.1 topic, but i thought it would be better to make a seperate topic as it is a new error in a new patch, hopefully so that someone can find a solution.
I have tried running with all different setting, changing drivers, re installing, but nothing is restoring the 3D to its former glory in wow.

Same here. /thumbsdown.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
Well, I think we have to wait ( /wallbash.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':wallbash:' /> ) for the next patch by Blizzy (4.3?!)...right now, no any post about the issue on the official WOW forums...
Meanwhile, if Nvidia team could help us... /thanks.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':thanks:' />

I did manage to get WoW DX11 to work in S3D again, the cursor still remains 2d though. Also, by increasing convergence via nVidia shortcuts I got the desired world depth, so it looks fine now.

I've just now gotten my 3d kit, so I can't speak on comparison in WoW prior to patch 4.2, but I can confirm that the 3D, does work in the DX11 mode for me.
WoW HAS to be in Full Screen (not Full Screen Windowed) mode for it to work, however. If it is set to Windowed, it will only work in DX9 mode, at least at the time I am writing this.
If the 3D does not work for you in Full Screen mode under DX11, I am at a loss as to why, but at least it's not a Global issue affecting everyone.
On the subject of convergence settings not working - I wonder if you guys can reproduce the look and settings you had prior to 4.1, using nVidia's 3D shortcuts. Default are CTRL F3/F4 for depth and CTRL F5/F6 for convergence.

Im not saying that 3D doesnt work, it does work, in both DX 9 and 11.
But the quality of 3D has been greatly reduced, nothing appears to be coming out the screen at u now, before it would look like one of my pets would be almost sitting in my hand if i lifted it to the screen, now he is clearly in the screen. That being on lowest depth,
And now on highest depth the landscapes dont look as deep and as far off. And i have tried the nVidia shortcuts, which also make no change to convergence. You would have to have been playing the game before the patch in 3D to know the difference, Before the patch the 3D was outstanding, far better than any other game. Now its really nothing special.

I found that another major flaw in it, is that the cursor doesnt actually point to the correct objects in the current 3D, I dont use the 3D curser, because it makes moving onto action bars impossible in a fight, so i use the normal one, which before the patch gave a really nice accurate click, as long as u were at the right view distance for the depth ur using.
i played around with the current 3D to try find a better setting to play in, but i am still finding its not as good. Then when i went to target the portal i found this problem. So far i have found no 3D setting in patch 4.2 that are playable, and in the previous patch it was fine.

Exactly, I quote it.
Convergence doesn't work at all.
Need Blizzy's fix.
Without convergence the cursor seems got no precision and text and plates on the screen look "flated". Not really the same real(-istic) look as the before-4.2 patch times. /sad.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

That is strange. I am able to increase/decrease convergence using nVidia shortcuts. I made a screen in Orgri after patch 4.2 - cannot really say if S3D is same as before because I dont play much, but looks pretty close to what I remember. Added a screen with some combat in Darkshore (my favorite zone of all times) too :)

Keep tryin on the convergence Nvidia shortcuts (CTRL-F5/F6), finally I got the right setup. The problem was that I could't see any text on my Monitor screen (LG) revealin that i was changin the 3D surround parameters, concerning specifically the convergence. But it worked. I hope you all can undestand me. /tongue.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
Shame, it didn't work again. Convergence shortcuts don't work, they can't move anything on the final setup. /wallbash.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':wallbash:' />

P.S.: even though we can't see any 3D surround slider on the WOW option pane, using dx11, it seems it works (see my test above).

I still cant change convergence, however i do it, even with nvidia shortcuts, how are you doing it?

I just press and hold Ctrl- F6 until I get the desired result and then I do Ctrl-F7 to save the settings. I use latest beta drivers 275.50, Win 7 x64 bit. And ofc you need first to make sure that convergence shortcuts are enabled in nVidia control panel under 3d settings as they are off by default

So sorry.... /wallbash.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':wallbash:' />
I re-edited my last reply, cause even with F7 save, it doesn't save my setup. /thumbsdown.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
I think it's a bug (Nvidia? Blizzy?), cause if I repeateatly press CTRL-F6 it doesn't work and it occasionally works only if I use the wheel on the receiver and, at the sametime, I keep pressin F6...not always, but only If I got luck that time! CTRL-F7 doesn't save anything at all.

There is another way to change convergence - you need to press the button on the front of the nVidia emitter device and while holding it, rotate the wheel on the back. I personally prefer the shortcut method, but you may try it to see if it will work for you.

i played around with the current 3D to try find a better setting to play in, but i am still finding its not as good. Then when i went to target the portal i found this problem. So far i have found no 3D setting in patch 4.2 that are playable, and in the previous patch it was fine.

Without convergence the cursor seems got no precision and text and plates on the screen look "flated". Not really the same real(-istic) look as the before-4.2 patch times.

Shame, it didn't work again. Convergence shortcuts don't work, they can't move anything on the final setup.
Do they work occasionally? Not good.
