3D vision and ghosting, will it ever get resolved?
After much conversation with users of 3D vision on another forum and from my own experience, ghosting is apparent in A LOT of games while using 3D vision. My question is, is this an early adopter issue that will eventually be resolved through driver support and tweaking or is this as good as it gets?
Also, if users could tell me which games they play that have little to no ghosting with high levels of depth. It seems if I leave the depth at 15% or less, ghosting is gone, but at those levels, the 3D is just about non-existent, kinda of a damned if you do, damned if you don't scenario.
So far I can say Painkiller and Left 4 Dead are the two games I've played most that have the least amount of ghosting. What else can we add to this list?

When did you say your new monitor was going to be delivered? That might help alleviate some of the ghosting.
As far as games with little ghosting...
FEAR 2 didn't have a hell of a lot. Other than that, I am not sure. I don't really pay attention to the ghosting and always play at 100% and it is glorious.

Ghosting or "crosstalk" is caused by the afterglow effect of the display + the imperfection of the shutterglasses synchronization with the left/right images. With CRT the effect is more pronouced due to the residue brightness of the phosphor screen/pixel. With the LED DLP TV (Samsung), personally, the afterglow is virtually nil and the shutter synchronization imperfection is not perceivable with my eyes. The result is no ghosting (and no flickering) in all my games in stereoscopic ie 3DVision mode.

What's up, sir?
New monitor should be here Tuesday. I can add Devil May Cry 4 also has a very small amount of ghosting - in a good way, almost non-existent. That and Left 4 dead are as close to perfect as you can get. The longer I play Painkiller the more flaws I notice.
I'm just really anal about stuff like this, my eyes won't leave it be. I've returned psp's because of ONE dead pixel, not because it had one, but because my eyes wouldn't stop noticing it whenever the screen was darker while gaming or watching a movie.

When I use less depth -- can play around with convergence more. Personally can't use higher levels of separation in certain titles and high contrast areas. If it wasn't for convergence -- would of been disappointed. Thinking about trying a GeForce Ready DLP and like to try a bigger screen -- did hear good views on the lack of ghosting here.

With this technology and the shutter glasses it will be almost impossible to get rid of ghosting. It will be there with shutter glasses and a 1 Screen solution. First off the 3d glasses don't go 100% opaque when blocking one eyes, some light is still let thru so the right eye still will see some of the images meant for the left eye and visa versa.
Secondly the glasses and the Monitor are not 100% in Sync and i'm not sure if they ever will be.
It's not that people don't notice the ghosting it's that they tune it out. The focus on the 3d image and not the after images.
TO get rid of ghosting you would need either a WORKING Head Mounted Display solution or maybe somethign similiar to the old dual monitor and mirror setup, where each eye only sees the image that's meant for it.
Some games the ghosting is minimal based on the colors used in the games, the brighter the game the more you notice the ghosting. Darker games less notice.
But it's something I've come to be used to. I miss using my Z800 HMD there was almost no ghosting if any since the right eye got images for the right eye and the same for the left. The only thing I lost with that is the no POP out effects but i had my 3d dept.

In any case, what I said was that I don't really notice it while I play unless I remember to look. I just sort of tune it out and it doesn't bother me. This is nothing compared to what I had to deal with on my old edimensional glasses and CRT, which I had also learned to ignore ghosting. 3d gamers have never had it so good.

I don't think gamers are telling a lie but as with anything -- things are subjective to each individual and tolerance levels are different. Some may easily tune things out and other can't but pretty sure many can see that GeForce 3d vision is very welcomed and brings a lot to the table -- even with limitations and hurdles to over-come.

Personally, I think it's partly because people's eyes/brains interpret stereo 3d differently (just like the flashes some of us see constantly and other say they don't see at all, or the darkening effect that some say makes their games too dark to play while others see no problem). I don't understand how anybody could say they see NO ghosting, either. But nor do I understand people who claim they see ghosting so bad they can't play their games and it makes them dizzy and pass out and gives them warts. lol There's ghosting, it's 3d, deal with it. For me, it's like anything else -- after a time, my brain simply filters out the ghosting so I hardly notice it (or when I do, it just doesn't bother me). It would be nice if there were no ghosting at all, but unfortunately with shutter glasses that's physically impossible.
I just think there's a happy medium between those that say it's perfect and those that say it's unplayable. And the truth lies in that happy medium.
I'd rather have stereo 3d with a little ghosting ANY DAY over no stereo 3d.

The key is, well, do the games with Stereo 3d offer more immersion and improve the gaming experience? To me? You bet! After I tweak this to receive a more balanced look -- it simply blows a way the 2d look. Sure, I would like to add more depth but that's not what I am comparing to -- I am comparing it to the 2d look. What I am looking forward to is a more seamless experience with less limitation as we move forward. It's here now -- it rocks -- but it should get better as hardware and software matures and that's the key.
In the past, Stereo3d wasn't polished at all for me and the limitations really did stand out so much - -never did get back in 'till now. Sure, there are still some limitations -- much less and much more polished and don't desire to give up -- but crave more and that is a great sign to me.
Think about this: Can you go back to just or only 2d gaming now? Hell no!:)

Anyway all I know is after connecting me iiyama 24" CRT, is that CRT's are crap. I can't believe some people prefer those over LCD's, my samsung 2233, and my Hazro 2560x1600 crap all over CRT's.
The Samsung you are getting should help with ghosting but it's impossible to completly remove it.

As far as games with little ghosting...

Hell no!:)

Hell no is correct sir.
Hell no is correct sir.
