I just launched RE 5 and 3D Vision is currently working. Can you use a crack on it? It is still using GFWL and makes you log into Microsoft.

Later on you can either drop a crack on the current version of play it if you tell steam not to update it;))

I backed up my GFWL version a few weeks ago just in case also. Unfortunate that it was warranted.

But RE5 never had 3DVision support but 3D still worked :P Besides, pretty sure the VR headsets would still work. I always took 'supported' to mean that they would maintain playability of the feature. There are alot of old games that came out before 3Dvision that still works with it. How can it not work automatically if you're using dx9? Are they making it borderless fullscreen permanently or something?

I picked up RE5 at a Target clearance a long time ago. May have been the last retail PC game I ever bought. Still haven't played it. Can't believe they would strip it out. I mean, how does that even happen? Was kind of looking forward to entering my serial and having a Steam key for it (thought it might provide the motivation to actually play it).

It was a pretty big push with the game at launch. They made it work basically perfect.

I would copy the game from steam directory to another hard drive this if they update you still have the original.

Seeing as this was the last retail game I actually bought at B&M, I still remember the slip that came over the box. It had a really goofy 3D filter. I don't know what that material is called, but it's the shiny material that's supposed to make an image look 3D.

@Alo81 Thanks for the info, I backed it up as soon as I comfirmed it still worked. Yah that whole GFWL thing is shitty, sad thing is that it will be rearing it's ugly head again in DX12 with cross platform multiplayer. @Paul33993 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parallax_barrier

It seemed a bit odd to begin with, I can't see how or why 3D Vision would be tied to GFWL ... 3D Vision support would be coded into the game, scripted events triggering different Convergence settings and 3D friendly Shaders. I backed it up anyway but I'd be really surprised if it's actually stripped from the SteamWorks version ... seems like a whole lot of effort to make a game 2D, even if they botched the scripted Convergence settings are they really going to rewrite all the Shaders so they don't work in 3D anymore? :)
