i7 4970k@4.5Ghz, SLI GTX1080Ti Aorus Gigabyte Xtreme, 16GB G Skill 2400hrz, 3*PG258Q in 3D surround.
For what it's worth, I've so far spent 105 hours playing Dark Souls 2, all of it in 3D. A huge reason I keep going back to the game is that it works so well in 3D.
That said, I'm familiar with the shadow problems. I consider them to be few but worth fixing.

If you don't get enough volunteers, I'll be happy to test. I'll only be able to look around the early areas though, as I'll be starting a new game without the time to progress too far.
Looking at these two:

http://iforce.co.nz/i/osd0vef3.vyi.jpg
It appears as if the shadow cast by the character is correct in the original shot, and a little broken in the fixed version.
The shadows cast by the characters (NOT the dynamic ones that are present when a "fire" light source is present) are all 2D. (at screen depth). Thats why in the 1st image it looked correct.
I pushed these shadows into depth using some approximations. I don't have access to the Projection matrix in the shaders and thus I cannot apply a proper calculation there. (It will require some time for me to learn to do this using HelixMod debugger and also for bo3b to put up the lessons detailing how I can take a matrix from one shader and route it through the wrapper to use it in other shaders).
The things that are 100% perfectly fixed are the WEIRD lighting issues (that can be seen in the 1st pic I posted) and some (not all) armor reflections which were rendered in one eye.
I don't want people to expect this fix to be a "perfect 3D" fix. It's just my attempt to make the game render "better" with 3D Vision:)
Later this evening I will wrap and release what I've done so far;))

@helifax: Great to see that You are trying to fix the game! I have "cheated" and wrote an ahk script that made a backup of the autosvae files. Regarding to a possible S3D fix I have kept some of them when I discovered areas with shadow issues (even with disabled dynamic shadows). Maybe this way I can help testing Your fix...

My original display name is 3d4dd - for some reason Nvidia changed it..?!
Oh shit Dark Souls II is getting some attention again!
I couldn't be more stoked. The benefits of playing this game in 3D with ENB are huge.
Look how cool this is

And that is WITHOUT enb.
Super excited for the fix.
I decided to take some new 3D screenshots to help show off some DLC areas, as well as how fantastic the sense of place can be with 3D.

I did a bit more testing and unfortunately the shadow approximation only works in certain places...Currently I am trying to see how I can use a different matrix rather than the one present in the shaders...
Hey helifax , do you play in 3D Surround? VAC ban risk??
I always play the games on Surround on my desktop (and 95% of them are on Steam). Haven't got banned so far and haven't heard about anyone getting banned.
VAC monitors for other type of activity not this type.

so excited for the fix! thanks for working on this!
btw, I think reflection problems are more annoying than shadows (which can be turned off), so I would enjoy your fix in any state! :)
This is fantastic news, I really can't wait to see what you come up with helifax, I'd given up hope for this game and started playing it anyway a month ago in 2d
Can you elaborate about the 3d surround issue with shadows ?
Looking forward to playing this in 3d surround :)

I haven't been played so much with the DS2 fix so far... since now I am back on my OpenGL wrapper again to fix the eye-sync issue (actually re-writing) the wrapper almost completely :))
But I got the fix in a stable location. However, I couldn't fix the shadows + reflections to work both...
So, I ended up with having 2 presets... One for (dynamic shadows) and one for reflections...
I will post some screenies to show exactly what I mean.
I haven't tested it yet on my 3D Surround Rig, as I made it on my laptop. But I will test it there as well and if needed I will make a Surround version as well:)
I will release this fix soon.
