Prototype Not Working Properly On New Windows 10 PC
I recently bought a new PC with a GTX 1080 graphics card using the 375.63 driver and running Windows 10 Pro. I tried to install one of my favorite disc based games - Prototype - but it failed to install. So I bought the Steam version of it, and it installed and loaded just fine. 3D Vision kicked in but the profile message was in the upper left part of my screen in what looked like a separate small window. When I play the game that same small upper left window still appears and the game is transparent behind it. Unfortunately the 3D is very messed up. When I exit the game I also get a blank screen and must unplug and re-plug in my monitor to see my desktop. This was an early favorite 3D game that I used to show how great gaming is in 3D to friends and family. Would love to be able to play it again in proper 3D. Any ideas as to why this is happening and how to resolve? Thanks!

I don't have this one so I can't mess with it... Try taking a screenshot of the issue and then viewing it, if the screenshot is fine then it's probably something just being wonky... you could try a DDU/clean install. I have had an issue with a partial 2D screen before with Signal Ops and just dropping the HelixMod dll in the folder with the game's exe for some reason or another fixed it... worth a try anyway. What a shame as this game is so great in 3D. Oh well, glad I did enjoy many hours of playing it in 3D on my prior two PCs. Must be a Windows 10 issue with the newer Nvidia drivers.

Necropants and another poster have recently posted about having the same issues with some older games. So you are not alone. Torchlight 2 for example, works perfect in windows 7. Won't kick into 3d at all in 10 haven't come across any solution yet. Windows 10 is real frustrating, I went months when all my games would just randomly minimize themselves while playing, finally the image started comming up "dirty". But no solution out in the wilderness of the internet would work. Then in a moment of frustrated desperation I ran the Windows media tool to reinstall the OS. Miraculously it just fixed windows files leaving my system otherwise untouched. Games stopped minimizing.... This one is really annoying though, I don't see any difference between windows 7 configuration and the 10 one.[/quote]
