3D Stereo DDC signal Format of the DDC Sync signal

I'm searching for some information concerning the format of the DDC signal that is used by some shutter glass and frame-sequential stereo displays.
The official nVidia Stereo specifications ask for such a sync and it is used by several device. It is similar to what was previously use by ELSA Revelator shutter glasses.
My problem is : I can't find anywhere exact details of what signal is transmitted by this pin.
Is it standart I2C data, like what is used by EDID to provide monitor capability, and in this case, does anyone know what is the sequence emitted on it ?
Or is it just a plain flat signal : constantly off for one eye and constantly on for the other - just like what is happening on the VESA 3-pin connector for Stereo Glasses, or on the Parallel port for older devices ? And in this case does anyone know the voltage of the signal ?
