New Samsung LED TV support 120hz/240hz with DVI
Samsung came out with new LED TVs and I'm wondering if those work with 3d vision. LED TVs have DVI input and support 120hz/240hz, Anyone got new LED TVs please let me know I would like to purchase one and play 3d games (I already own 3d Vision) /thumbup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':thumbup:' />

Oh someone (Andrew, chris ray) tell me that these sammys will accept 120hz dvi input and therefore be compatible with 3DVision! I will buy one soon after knakknak purahases his and confirms that it works!

also, on the specification, there is no DVI input, only VGA for the PC...so I guess it won't be compatible with 3D Vision, unless they can do 120hz on the HDMI input...

This is just a larger version of their 40" LED TV and they are not 3D capable. Oddly enough it's not even listed on the Samung website yet, and is the newest generation of the LED TV's. The main difference is that it now has the 240 Hz Motion Blur techonlogy but still only accepts a 60 Hz input. Unfortunately we are sill limited to 22" at the moment, unless you have one with DLP technology. Still a waiting game for the large screen 120 Hz input capability. Obviously they have it, but are apparently not interested yet in creating larger screens sizes.. yet... It would not benefit normal HDTV viewing, only people that want 3D, so we'll just have to wait and see how long it takes them to release the larger screen sizes. Definitely not holding my breath on this one...

you know i was thinking that, why do we need the 120 Hz ? because we needs 60Hz for each each to prevent flickering, but what if samsung automotion inserts frames to max it to 120 Hz, still suffer from flickering ?

some please buy the 32" samsung LED tv, and tell me in windows, monitor what is the max Refresh rate avaialable..

it means even if you got a dual SLI cards, and your FPS is 100 you will see only 60, am i right ?

Well if your using a LCD screen unless you've got one of the fancy new 120Hz screens your only seeing 60FPS anyway.

Well if your using a LCD screen unless you've got one of the fancy new 120Hz screens your only seeing 60FPS anyway.

This will not work. Shutter-based 3D stereo relies on two completely different images (one for each eye) being displayed in alternating order. The 100 (or 120 or 240) Hz technology in televisions creates additional frames by blending between pictures. If you use this tech on stereo images, all you get is a horrible blur. In addition to this, motion interpolation creates a huge delay (several 10 to several 100 milliseconds) that would make it very hard to sync the glasses to the screen without some sort of additional connection like the 3D ready plasma displays use.

Apart from that, I doubt that these TVs are even remotely capable of actually displaying 120 vastly different images per second. It might be enough for normal video material, where subsequent frames are quite similar (even more so with motion interpolation), but I'd expect 120 Hz TVs to show substantial ghosting in 3D mode, even if you could make them accept a 120 Hz input signal.

I guess it is possible to calculate a 120 Hz 3D stereo image from a 60 Hz signal (by using a sequence like L1 R1 L1 R1 L2 R2 L2 R2 and so on), but that would need a special option with the TV and still wouldn't get rid of ghosting.
