Which Battlefield game has the best 3D (3DV/Tridef) and allows the highest convergence settings?
Currently I am enjoying Battlefield 4 using tridef (only option) but there is one thing that really bothers me. Since I am always going for high convergence in my games I can’t stand the fact not to be able to play Battlefield 4 with high convergence because of the obvious FPS/convergence-problems. When cranking up the convergence the gun-model splits very soon. But even going to the convergence-point where the gun starts to split for me (which still would allow for some nice convergence settings) is no option here because as soon as you aim with your gun everything totally splits up. So the only option here is to use really low convergence settings because you have to set convergence according to the weakest link in the chain and of course that’s the aiming.
While it is still fun to play BF4 using tridef I cannot get over the low convergence. Since it is only playable in 3D using tridef there is no helix-fix around that would allow for separate convergence settings while aiming.
If I remember right Battlefield 3 had tons of options to tweak the 3D. I remember being able to set the convergence settings for the world, the gun AND the aiming separately. But I also remember people saying that Battlefield 3’s 3D was kind of fake just like Crysis.
Going futher back in the Battlefield series I remember Bad Company 2 having very strong 3D. If I remember right you couldn’t set the world, gun and aiming-convergence separately but I know there is a helix-fix with that nice separate depth/convergence-settings while aiming which would also nullify the problem.
To cut a long story short: I would really like to know which Battlefield game has the best 3D (tridef or 3D Vision) in your opinion and allows for the highest convergence settings. Also please name the kind of mod that has to be applied to get the full experience (like helix-fix with separate depth/convergence setting for aiming in case of Bad Company 2).
Thanks in advance!

Battlefield 3's 3D is not fake - it was added by the developers in a patch, where they explicitly stated that they rendered two distinct images for every frame. It can look a bit flat with the default settings because only depth is adjustable and convergence is locked
However, by creating a user.cfg file and placing it in the home directory, you can unlock convergence and set it to your liking
I used someone's recommended settings in this forum and my user.cfg file says this:
renderdevice.stereoseparationscale 1.38
renderdevice.stereoconvergencescale 2.2
renderdevice.stereosoldierzoomconvergencescale 0
It's no Tomb Raider 3D, but it's pretty darn great and has made it the most enjoyable / traumatic single-player FPS experience I've ever had
Waiting on BF4 until I get a DICE or Nvidia solution (i dont do tridef)

Thanks alot for your quick answer. It seems I should reinstall BF3 then and give it a second try (2 years ago I only played the SinglePlayer). This time I would like to play the Multiplayer as well. But instead of playing the BF4 Multiplayer with those low convergence settings I am going to jump into BF 3's Multiplayer with glorious high convergence.
Judging from the internet feedback many players even consider BF3 to be the better game. I was really surprised to read that some people say BF3 features more destruction than BF 4. I mean wasn't the destruction-feature of the new frostbyte engine one of the main advertising-factors for BF4!?

After doing some more research I have to say that Bad Company 2 was really outstanding in terms of destruction. Maybe I should even reinstall BC2.......

For BF4, you might try the 3Dmigoto patch from here:
https://github.com/bo3b/3Dmigoto/releases/download/0.52-alpha/3Dmigoto-0.52_alpha.zip
That has a feature that allows you to change convergence and separation when aiming.
I have no idea whether it will run or work in BF4, but if you are up for some experimentation, it would be really helpful to me if you give it a try and see what you find out. (I don't have BF4)
Probably the 3D will just be busted and need fixing too, but it's a DX11 wrapper and DX11 game. Learning about what works and doesn't work will help me figure out what to fix first in the wrapper.
