The Acer is better compared to the samsung.. maybe not as good for 2D. but it is bearable. Read Appelsap's minireview about it. And google a bit.
Maybe you can check the Alienware out, didnt hear 2D complains about it.. only the ghosting part.

Its not bad in 2D ... maybe you have to get the new monitor inf from acer directly and force a manual install,
before i had "plug'n'play" monitor and after that a good/normal 2D image and "Acer GD245H" as recognized hardware.

The Acer has faster response time, therefore much better for gaming. The only problem is that some people dont like the default colour reproduction. I used the Nvidia tool too change my settings and now i am delighted with the monitor in 2d or 3d.
