Mitsubishi TV's Why aren't this years on Nvidias list?
I've read the last 10 (make that 17)pages or so of the forum ( I really wish the search function worked), to gauge what people are using and their impressions on each. Unfortunately I do not have the room for a PJ (my computer room dims are 6.5 feet by 7.5 feet). I have a 30" dell right now so anything under 30" would bring back nightmares of windows 3.1 and monochrome monitors (I tell myself I'm in my early 20's still). So a DLP TV is my best option for my gaming rig, I think.

I am looking at the Mitsubishi TV's but I noticed a lot of their newer models are not on the list from nvidia. Is there a reason for this? I like the idea of a 60" but not sure if the newer models will work with Nvidia's hardware. Any help here would be much appreciated.

Thanks

I've read a little on checkerboarding, is there a different option? I now understand that you have to pay to get the 3d logo on your product (20 pages of reading posts) Would a projector work in my room with a short throw (not sure if that term is right)? Or does any one have a bookmark to a website that clears any of this up?

Nice, I just spent the last 6 hours trying to figure out what is what, I now know that checker boarding and rainbow are different for every person. I've come across many posts by danjoy and even seen his setup (nice mouse and keyboard, I have the same set, I also game in my lazy boy). I'm going the MIT road for now, I will wait for 3d TV's after the standard becomes universal ( I still remember laser discs).

Thanks to everybody who wrote in this forum it helped me a lot.

Thanks

No it doesn't. Id rather take the checkerboard on my 67 inch samsung than ghosting on the Viewsinic LCD any day. Checkerboard is 720p resolution that actually fools the eye in thinking its full 1080p

@OP
Don't let someone put you off about getting a Mitsubishi DLP for 3D. It looks excellent and checkerboard is actually a blessing as it looks better than every other 3D format(at same resolution) other than 120 hz frequency...

native 720p is still much sharper than some interpolated 1080p
have you ever tried reading small ingame text with checkerboard?
its hardly possible...

of course checkerboard is better than stuff like row-interleaved or total crap like anaglyph
but its still only the one-eyed amongst the blind

nothing comes close to real 120hz input yet unfortunately

that's what most people are doing right now /smile2.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':))' />

a recent survey showed:
3-4% think 3d is great and are planning to buy
51% think 3d is great but also think its not market-ready yet
rest doesn't like 3d / isn't interested

right now 3d just is a lot of different formats
one worse than another
and everyone supports a different format

the best thing one can do right now is wait
by the time 3d becomes successful you're gonna have to buy a new tv that supports the new format anyway

You're talking like 3D of today is broken...Its not. Its still a wonderful experience. Yes it will get better but why not enjoy it today?

If someone is buying a TV, they could do a hell of a lot worse than buying a 60 inch Mitsubishi DLP...for 2D. Considering they only go for 1000 bucks a pop...The fact it does checkerboard 3D is a wonderful bonus.

the new models better work!

i can read small in game text on my 65". no problem. i enjoy my tv very much- sure its not the best in the world- but every one who see's it responds with a resounding "wow".

projectors are great at 120hrz but the OP said he does not have the room. the only 3d vision projector worth it in my opinion is the depth q- which retails somewhere around 5k$$. not a bargan considering 1080p projectors are right around the corner. the cheap 3d projectors are just that- cheap- you get what you pay for.... and the same goes for the cheap mit. dlp tv's.
