Yeah man, it's a memorable day ! i posted a link in the egosoft forums with the hope of Devs take a look to his mod and be convinced enought to make X:rebirth 3d vision ready :P

Thank you so much for doing X3 3D Vision fix. I have had these games for a long time but held off till they worked better in 3D Vision. Now can finally play them.

@helix: I'm testing new debug dll experimenting with shadows in the game "blur" and now it can find a lot more texture than before! In this game shadows are rendered at screen depth and you can correct their position as I've done in the attached txt.. but moving shadows caused a sort of "light aura" to double around the cars. So I was trying to separate the light aura from shadows calculations using texture crc as you can see in the attached files (maybe it's a bad idea but I cannot find any other related pixel or vertex shader). The problem is that the only crc that makes difference is the first, and it only moves shadows and lights simultaneously as before.. the old version of debug instead only detected a single "numbered" texture crc and the other ones where zeroed crcs.
another intresting thing is that I think that fixing me1 selfshadows could be impossible! That becouse I've noticed (experimenting with selfshadows in the character selection screen where I could see better what was appening to them) that in that game pixel and vertex shaders can only "cut" around shadows sides or change their color but cannot move their position at all! Maybe I've to experiment more but I believe that shadows position is somewhere in the game code..

thx 4 ur reply
ther is certain reason for i am using together
because Tridef support many game profiles than nvidia
so i use tridef somegames or sometimes i use nvidia profiles
for example i really like play battlefield 2 and battlefield2142
but nvidia profiles r useless
in other hands tridef has very good profiles
if u have time, compare many games with tridef and nvidia
and if u combine 2 profiles (tridef and 3dvision's)
so u will have more perfect 3d gamming life
anyway if i could fix profiles more perfectly with Helix's mode then i would not use trief anymore
but i am not now because i am not good at english , so i can not understand ur explain perfectly
eqzitara? could u test and make battlefield 2142 profiles?

I was fiddling around with the Skyrim beta and the debug .dll file to see which shader controls the shadows. I extracted the attached pixel shader that basically disables/enables all shadows in the game. If I rename it to DD4E031.txt, clear out all the information except the ps_3_0 line, and drop it into the appropriate shaderoverride/pixelshaders folder, it disables all the shadows.
Unfortunately, I have no clue how to fix this file and see if that makes the shadows 3D. I know we can always just use the 1.4 .exe, but at some point we will want all the fixes and upgrades to the game, especially if any DLC requires the latest version. Hopefully HeliX or someone who knows a lot more than I do can re-attach a version that I can test out to see if it works, even if it means we lose that shadows over grass. I just hate for us to have to play with no shadows at all.

Thx Arioch, I've been busy all week so haven't had any time to take a look at this but planned to today, so this will be helpful. I did look into 1.5 Beta a bit yesterday and saw some of the issues people were talking about. There's at least 2 vertex shaders for shadows, the old dynamic shadows and the new grass shadows. I can blank them out individually via vertex shader but it looks as if the pixel shader is responsible for drawing them. The same fixes HeliX made for water probably need to be applied for shadows now. I was also planning to take a look at how they drew shadows in 1.4 to see what they broke.
What's really funny though about the grass shadows is not only do they have no depth info, they also don't have alpha channel data so they always draw on top of objects in 3D as a result, even if they should be occluded. Just screams hacky implementation, this is what happens I guess when a dev that isn't known for its tech prowess decides to take an OTS game engine and makes it their "own".

Yeah that should be possible by blanking just the vertex shader for the grass shadows and fixing the vertex shader and pixel shader for the old shadows. I'll take a look at it in a bit.

I am sure there are more files to fix than the one I found by stumbling around with the debug tool. I apologize for not being able to help more with fixing things. I think I am just too stupid.
