Nvidia 3D TV Release Date
  2 / 3
I suspect that Nvidia is being pressured by its partners who sell the 120 Hz dual-link DVI monitors, as well as pressure to sell its remaining stock of 3D Vision kits.

This is because the *second* the 3DTV Play software is released stand-alone, the value of the 120 HZ monitors (and 3D Vision kits) will drop dramatically because they aren't needed any more.

After all, why spend so much money on a tiny 24" 3D monitor + 3D Vision Kit when, for a few hundred more, you can get a 40" 3D HDTV/monitor with $40 3DTV Play software?

That idea is a very good one in my opinion. If anyone doubts this, look at how much NVIDIA is pushing both Panasonic TV's and Dell laptops. Anyway, im not going to wait....will be purchasing a 3D Vision kit this weekend :( But for those that are going to wait, I really hope that NVIDIA will give them some sort of update.

You should of thought a little more before posting that bit :P

It's not always entirely practical to get a 40" TV if your only
going to use it for a Computer monitor.
Space would be an issue for most. Of course if you were looking
at getting a new tv its another story.
---------------------------------------------------------------

If NVIDIA was to announce the new expected release date, I don't
think they would go to each thread like this posting it. Also
it would most likely be mentioned on most tech sites. They aren't
going to tell a random person here, even if a lot of people do
post on the same thread. It will be a public announcement, not
a single post on some random thread.

Interesting how you never reply to the section in my comments about the nature of the thread.
Only the bits that aren't addressed to you, or bits that you can attempt to make jokes out of.

There is a reason why you haven't found out the new release date of the software, because it
hasn't been announced(:[]) Making a thread isn't going to give you one. Its over.

Im so sorry if I somehow hurt your feelings. I understand that your solution to the delayed software release is to sit and wait and not question anything, however I do not feel the same way. I would like an answer, whether it is someone referring us to a press release or an actual post by NVIDIA. I dont feel that you telling us to keep quiet and wait is solving anything.

Ditto! Get a life ducky. Troll somewhere else. I think everyone is sick of your gibberish. Time to move on, you've done your job. Good boy.

It'll be here when it's here, any release date they give is worthless. One year ago they said it would be released in August, then it was September, then November. Given that track record I can't say I'm surprised it's not here yet. To bad ATI seems to take 3DTV support even less seriously. Either way, I'm holding off buying a card until I know it's supported.

Yeah, I'm just gonna get the 3D Vision kit this weekend. I am pretty excited to be able to use my new tv as a 3D gaming monitor.

and there we have a great reason as to why nvidia are happy to keep stringing us along.

I bet they are seeing 3D Vision kit sales spike due to this software (non)release.

Starting to wish I just went with the less power-hungry, cooler running ATI with an available $20 3D solution......but bought a nVidia solely on the basis of the release date given....now I have watched 5 weeks go by and nothing :(

First nVidia card in ages, thought I would give them a chance again! After being disgusted at their arrogance to keep releasing the same cards for years under differing names in an attempt to con the less-savvy into buying something with marginally better performance then they already have, plus the short-sightedness shown in the original fermi design, it took a lot for me to buy a nVidia card again and it was based purely on their self-proclaimed "masters of 3D gaming"......all I can do now is LOL I guess. Not looking too masterful atm!

Wait for nvidia or pay $40 for the same software ATI users get for $20?

Oh, spoilt for choices!

I think Nvidia knows that as soon as they release the 3DTV PLAY software, some hackers will work overnight to crack it, and in the next few days, people will just download the cracked version on Peer2Peer servers for free ...

Then no one will neither buy the 3D kit nor the software ...

Yeah, that's a good point. Maybe they are busy working on a copy protection/DRM scheme.

I honestly don't understand why anyone would be excited about 3DTV Play for gaming. I have tried it and the 1080p 24hz or 720 60hz limitations on the current generation of TVs make games look like crap. Playing on a 3D monitor is waaaaaay better than on a 3DTV (excluding dlps). Just my opinion.
