I played the demo on 360 and thought this would be great in 3D. Guess I got my wish:
so native 3D support or jsut standard "excellent" Nvidia 3D vision treatment?
I hope for "excellent" Nvidia 3D vision treatment, because as much as I like Avatars native stereo support, the forced autofocus (with permanent player/object size change and player clipping) and inability to adjust the stereo convergence drive me crazy.

Sweet! I played the demo on my 360 and had planned to rent it but I think I'll go ahead and buy the PC version from Steam now. Batman on PC was an excellent experience with 3D vision and I hope that Dark Void is done as well.

GREAT! I like Capcom even more now. They always make superior PC port with added visual effect and now they add 3d. I just heard Dark void will also make use of PhyX too.

How did you actually do that for Avatar? The in game adjustments (monitor size/distance) translate only to a change of the stereo separation, not the stereo convergence. And the external nVidia stereo driver can't be activated for Avatar in the latest driver version 195.81 and earlier driver versions caused artifacts/slowdowns with avatar.

I'm running 195.62, I have no artifacts or slowdown at all, the game is smooth right the way throughout with pretty much everything on full settings. Glorious pop-out all over the place. What did the newer driver add other than more sli profiles and fix of the can't find 3d capable display fault in the 3d vision setup?

The new driver does not allow the activation of the driver level 3D (Ctrl-T) for Avatar, so you have to stuck to the in-game 3D, which does not allow any control of the stereo convergence setting or the convergence autofocus.
I personally hate 3D autofocus because with the convergence shift near screen objects (like the player figure) also change the size the human brain assigns to objects in 3D space, which leads to a very unnatural (and fore me irritating) experience.

Yeah i totally agree and cant think why this would be locked out? For me i don't have sli and have the viewsonic monitor therefore i thought it not necessary to update to the beta driver. Hopefully it'll be fixed for you in the whql release.

I definitely prefer developer managed stereo engine and autofocus to external driver with manually configured fixed focus.
Games aren't all FPSs which can use the same fixed focus through 99% of the game.
Once game developers take control over convergence, they can make artistic decisions with the convergence setting : the most obvious one in avatar is the Na'Vis default camera which uses hyper-stereo to emphasize on how tall the Na'Vis are and how small the rest of the world looks from their point of view.
Having the 3D effect balanced between depth and pop-out space feels weird at first (especially after playing lots of FPSs and lots of Tomb Raider in depth configuration). But once I got used to it, I found out it actually looks better then pure depth and changed my convergence settings in my other 3rd person view games. (FPSs still look bad in popout due to the gun always hitting some HUD element)

Didn't work out so hot in 3d for me. Lots of stuff at the wrong depth and so on. Disappointed since it was recently mentioned as a 3d Vision title. Hoping either new drivers drop that add some better support, or the final game has some tweaks that help. I'll keep my eye on it since it hinted at some awesome 3D potential, but so far, not very good.

They didn't specify. If it's as good as Batman, I'll be happy.
