Crosshair problem with Mass Effect
Hi everyone,

Mass Effect's in-game crosshair does not seem to work with 3D vision at all. I turned on the 3D vision crosshair, but the original crosshair is still there and is extremely distracting to the point that it is just not playable for me.

Did anyone encounter the same problem? Is there a way to remove the in-game crosshair?

Thanks for your help.

Yes, Mass Effect is because of this unplayable in stereo.
But this is for almost all shooter games.

You can manipulate game files and disable crosshair, but I am not sure now if I found it for Mass Effect. Try to google it.

I love Mass Effect, in fact is the game I am focusing on. I do not even turn on the Nvidia crosshair and do not miss it one bit.
Never played it before so I am having a blast. /thumbup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':thumbup:' />

I can guarantee you that with default mass effect crosshair it will be very unpleasant to play it.

That is because croshhair is in zero depth, Shepard is in depth and targets are in more depth.
It is very shizoid to play the game like this.

If I remember correctly I disabled crosshair by modifiing some files.

This game is listed as Excellent on Nvidia's website. I wouldn't have paid a cent for it otherwise... does anyone have an update on fixing the crosshair issue?

It is just like a lot of shooter style games with crosshairs that cannot be removed. I am pretty surprised you aren't used to it by now as it is pretty common.

Hey, Im new to these forums and to the 3D experience, so greetings to everyone.

After fiddlign around with Mass Effect, I discovered that it's possible to remove the crosshair, that being said, this solution has it's quirks.

Go to X:\Mass Effect\BioGame\Config\

And open "DefaultGuiResources.ini" with a text editor.
Be sure to make a backup.

In that file, you will find a line "HandlerLibrary=(Tag=Reticule,HandlerClass="BIOC_Base.BioSFHandler_Reticule",PanelResource="GUI_SF_HUD.Reticule",UseEdgeAA=true,StrokeStyle=SF_MSS_Normal,CurvePixelErr
or=1);" under [Engine.BioSFManager].

If you delete this line, or change the Tag part you will no longer have a crosshair ingame.
(for example. "HandlerLibrary=(Tag=XReticule,HandlerClass="BIOC_Base.BioSFHandler_Reticule",PanelResource="GUI_SF_HUD.Reticule",UseEdgeAA=true,StrokeStyle=SF_MSS_Normal,CurvePixelErr
or=1);")

However, there are a few problems. Sometimes the red diamond crosshair, used to target skills/abilities, will get stuck on screen, and only a loading will get rid of it (I don't know why it appears in the first place). And I think it affects your fps in combat mode and decrypting (im not 100% sure about this). Also, after decrypting something, a mouse cursor appears on screen, you can remove it by toggling combat mode (I think this affects the red crosshair getting stuck on screen, so be sure to remove it).

Another solution would be to hide the HUD completely in combat mode, by binding "showhud" command to a key. But you would have to bring it back in pausemode, in order to use skills/abilities. And naturally you wouldn't be able to see your health or amount of grenades etc.

I hope this helps, I found the game to be unplayable with crosshair, so this is what Im using.
