Just came across this http://pcdiy.asus.com/2014/01/pg278q-rog-swift-gaming-monitor-the-best-gaming-monitor/
" As icing on the specification cake, the ROG SWIFT also fully supports 3D VISION for gamers looking to take advantage of NVIDIA’s impressive 3D implementation... In addition to offering NVIDIA 3D VISION support, the monitor will feature a new ULMB feature offering the same benefits of LIGHTBOOST only better!"

Not till I see 1440p 3D support does it matter. Tons of 144hz monitors out there but only support 60hz 3D, not 72 as an example. Not to mention everyone is disregarding important question which is ghosting which far outweighs resolution increase.
Too much optimism about unknown/untested product imo.

I would love one, but I cant imagine the framerates I would be getting at 1440 vs 1080, and I recently spent most of my spare cash on a 3D projector.
Part of me feels bad for dropping down from 1080 to 720 when 1440 is on the horizon, but I kinda doubt my SLI 670's would have enough kick at 1440 anyway.
Well in this case... 1440p would only be in 2d mode. For 3D vision it is still 1080p
I was wondering about that, so there's no 1440p 3D resolution available in 3DVision?
Assumptions. Supposedly someone is stating that 3d vision is limited to 1080P and its not a hardware issue. http://pcdiy.asus.com/2014/01/pg278q-rog-swift-gaming-monitor-the-best-gaming-monitor/
Which is kind of bull, I am sure if they supported it on a hardware level nvidia would support it. So I don't know how much of it is fact.

Nope, still stuck in 1080p
why? You can change resolution to 720p and 900p in 3D.
Why wouldn't the game just render in 1440p 3D. Is this a known thing or are you speculating? Bandwidth with DP not enough or something?
It would just be nice to go up in resolution to 1440p for everyday 2D and still have the 3D capability. Getting tired of 1080p TBH, been stuck there because I can't not have 3D. This monitor seems like it has everything. I would be happy if the 3D is just as good or better than Asus vg278 lightboost.

Supposedly if this "guy" is telling the truth its nvidia's fault since the software "doesn't support" it at this point in time so they won't do it. TBH, people should try to get nvidia responce and see whats going on. No 3D user is likely to buy a $800 display if they still have to buy kit just for 1080P imo.
Though I am not sure if anything is set in stone, so now is the time imo.

Doesn't really seem like an unreasonable theory. There were quite a few TVs that could do 3D at 1080p@30fps but because Nividia stubbornly dictated you only had the option of 720p@60fps or 1080p@24fps while using 3DPlay, that's all you could choose. Even though it wasn't a bandwidth problem. And some HDTVs had the hardware capability. So I could absolutely see Nvidia refusing to update their software for better support.
That's why I thought their big January news was going to be a press release at CES talking about increased resolution support (not just for HDMI 2.0, but for things like 1440p 3D). Instead we get fake 3D. Which, I guess is fine for those who want it, but I can't imagine anyone on this board would have prioritized fake 3D over better hardware support for real 3d.
