It will depend heavily on collaboration between Nvidia and ID happening behind closed doors. Nvidia's message has always been a vague "we're working with developers" without quoting names or games.
The only message from ID we have on this subject has been negative, so expect it not to work unless ID clearly states otherwise.

They better be working with ID. If this engine isn't supported, all future Bethseda games will not run in 3D!!! They are using ID TECH 5 for all future games.

I think the problem with Rage support is it starts things down a slippery slope that Nvidia just doesn't want to head down when it comes to S3D OpenGL support. They could obviously support the game in 3D Vision by just porting over some Quadro code and try to put some software/profile lock limiting support to Rage. But they're probably worried that would pull back the curtain too much and provide just enough for us to get a bunch of workarounds to get full OpenGL support for 3D Vision with GeForce hardware, which they clearly don't want since their interests are to protect their Quadro and 3D Vision Pro products first and foremost.
The other option would be some kind of OpenGL to D3D wrapper authored by Nvidia and sanctioned by iD (similar to the AA/PhysX code Nvidia wrote for Batman AA) but I don't think there's any way Nvidia would do this for just 1 title and only for 3D Vision support. Maybe if iD Tech 5 became the game engine of choice for DX11 like iD Tech 3 was for DX8 and Source/UE3 were for DX9, it'd be worth the time and money.....

No matter what, they need to support this game, first because it's going to be amazing but most importantly, ID sell engines first and foremost, and just like unreal engine, we could see dozens of games using Rage engine in the coming years and probably from the best developers since ID engines are quite popular and expensive. No support for Rage engine will leave many high profile games with no 3d support at all and damage their 3d vision product.

Hi chiz,
I'm not sure that this is a perceived problem as much as you might think it is, for the very reason that if one DOES have a Quadro Card, that is 3D Vision capable, it will not give you carte blanche access to OpenGL stereo gaming in Rage unless Rage was coded to take advantage of the Quadro's quad-buffered mode. I don't believe there's any documentation stating this, yet.. So on that score, it seems that Nvidia is still in the driver seat in implementing a working solution, Quadro or no Quadro. And nobody, seriously, is going to want to buy a Quadro card just to play one game or one engine of games. Even if one can afford to do so, the reasoning is nonsensical.
Now if Rage sets up an implementation to take advantage of 3D Vision by wrapping it to Directx or doing something that is similar to Avatar the Game (different 3D output types), then it should work on any card Geforce or Quadro.
Have you guys ever messed around with GliDOS? It wraps Glide to OpenGL for a portion of old 3Dfx Glide games and I had the Dev implement 3D checkerboard IN the software (he already had anaglyph going) to play original Tomb Raider on my DLP with DLP Link Glasses (3D Vision not needed). OpenGL does not hold 3D back, but for it to work on Geforce they need to either implement all the output modes (Avatar The Game style) into the software or wrap it to Directx. Either case, this issue should be independent of whether or not one has a Quadro or Geforce card for OpenGL. There are others, but this is a clear case that it can be done and without harming the Quadro market.

Andrew was prowling the boards and posting comments when this one was up at the top and said nothing. That's not good news /wallbash.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':wallbash:' /> when Andrew or Nvidia stays silent, it usually means your SOL.

If you check the Stereoscopic 3D compatibility for RAGE in the beta 285.38 driver it says not recommended. But i do remember Crysis 2 was rated "not recommended" once and yet now it is rated Excellent. But we will have to wait and see if idTech5 and RAGE will have nvidia's 3D Vision support?.
