Good quality, good settings, 60fps 3D vision video gameplay. Where?
  1 / 2
Hi Where can I find a collection of good quality videos? We have ShadowPlay now, we can record good quality videos, with maximum separation, corrected convergence, stable 60fps - which measn we can create videos different from what people can usually find on the net. The difference can be huge, and many can watch 3D now, using a smartphone and google Cardboard. This is a great way to show them "hey, look at this, this is different to what you saw, much better". I have only 120KB/s upload. I uploaded 700MB, but it took almost 2 hours, and now I recorded a short video with good quality - it has 1GB. I don't know where to upload this, so people could watch. I googled for a site, found uploadable.ch, but this site offers good download speed for non-registered downloads, easy uploading (no registration needed), but in non-paid accounts, the content is deleted after 1 month, if no one dowloaded it. This makes me wonder if it's worth it to block my PC for hours for uploads. If you know a site with collection - please point me. If you don't, then maybe some advice where should I upload my videos. It would be great if I could upload in parts, or have a possibility to upload once and have it in normal quality and on Youtube (sh.. quality, but easier access). If none of this - then at leas say if you'd find those videos useful. I've got GTX760 so I won't record new games on max settings, since I think every video in 3D should have 60fps and if I cannot maintain it at leas most of the time - then there's no point in recording. So far I have WRC:Powerslide, Serious Sam 2, Grid 2, but I'm just getting started. Or not, if no one needs it.

Someone around here has a site that can handle it, I can't recall who off the top of my head. Personally I'd rather game than watch other people do it though. Very few people have bothered to set up things like Cardboard.

I disagree. On "my" local forum, there are many, many people that just recently discovered good 3D. They totally ignored 3D on PC, but now they are on that "smartphone VR craze". There is 5 3D Vision users on that (quite big PC board) forum. And within a week - there was 8 people that created their own "cardboard VR". They still have no idea what a good PC 3D game, properly set, could look like. And there are people that have 3D Vision, but don't realize the potential in old and/or cheap games. Many of them don't even want to hear about convergence settings and such. WRC Powerslide looks lika a cheap, rubbish game. But in 3D, with max separation and corrected convergence - looks really nice. I imagine my video could help some 3D Vision users not to miss some fun games. That's the point. I try to "spread the word" about 3D since 2002. I would gladly do those videos if anyone benefits from it. But first I need to know if there even are such people. Your "vote" is useful, even if it's for "no" - if more people agree with your point, then I'll avoid wasting my time for something useless. :)

3DVisionLive hosts videos. They have a format that they need it submitting in, then they create adaptive streaming variations (like YouTube does). The browser needs Silverlight plugin but that's all I think. Have a look here: https://www.3dvisionlive.com/3d_video

There's not much more around though. We supported videos on SolutionGaming.com until the web host tried to cancel our account for using too much space, so we don't do it now.

this has me interested , is it possible to record 3d gameplay videos in high resolution?

Yes, using ShadowPlay that is part of the GeForce experience. It records great quality 1080p videos (I think you need at least a 600 series card and above though). I don't think it records 1440p though, it uses H.264 which tops at 1080p (I think, but I might be wrong).

Actually it does record 1440p I think. I'm assuming that as hardware performance is maxed it'll just use extra cpu cycles for the increased resolution.

This is an interesting point for sharing videos, and getting more people aware of how fun it can be in 3D. I've done a fair amount of 3D video with ShadowPlay for Bo3b's school (on hiatus cuz of the deluge of recent games). The best spot to share I think is still YouTube. The normal plugins for browser don't work for 3D Vision itself, but for doing side-by-side video it's actually pretty OK. Cardboard is going to have a player or something for side-by-side of YouTube for sure. The only real drawback is that it tops out at 30 fps, but I think that's OK for watching. Resolution wise, you can still watch a 3D video at 1080p. You can get 1080p@30 playback in side-by-side off YouTube. Takes awhile to encode, but eventually will get there. It looks like YouTube did finally pull the last bone-head move of disabling the 3D playback slider in latest player. So, whatever you upload is what is available to play. I still think that for Cardboard demo or even 3D TV demo that side-by-side here will work pretty well. Just pretend to YouTube that it's a normal 1080p video, and it will upload it fine. If you want an experimental movie shot at higher frame rate to download, you might try this short Mordor or WatchDog video I made. Please feel free to share on your boards. http://sg.bo3b.net/mordor/Mordor_gameplay.mp4 http://sg.bo3b.net/watchdogs/Watch_Dogs_day_big.mp4

OK, so: 3D Vision page - it suxx. Video quality is shitty, and it mostly doesn't work. I play one video, then I try another one - and nothing. Black square, no video. Youtube - almost insulting quality I guess I'll have to upload them somewhere. Uploadable.ch seems best: - good download speed for free users with no registration - just close the ad pop-up and clikc free download, sometimes it asks for captcha. Grid 2: http://www.uploadable.ch/file/faZAztRyBWdb/gameplay grid.mp4 (poor quality, not so good settings) WRC: Powerslide: http://www.uploadable.ch/file/Xr4GHGvUdg5w/gameplay_z_WRC_Powerslide.mp4 (good) http://www.uploadable.ch/file/PrrkmRK5rGQb/wrcgameplay-highconvergence.mp4 (better - corrected the convergence beyond the limit, since there's no objects close to the screen) all: - high separation - 60fps - side-by-side 1080p (960x1080 per eye) - better than Youtube quality Warning! Links will be dead after a month from last download, so it's up to you how long it will be available. The most important one (the last one) I uploaded minutes ago, so it will be available for a month, counting from this post, worst case scenario. I'll try to upload more Grid 2/Autosport and Serious Sam 2 movies in next few days. It took 3 hours to upload that 3 minutes (last link) so I won't upload loads of videos. BTW. bob3b Watched that Mordor gameplay - looks interesting. I'll skip WD, since I won't ever play that game (here's hoping for GTA V in 60fps and 3D some day).

I still think you are better off using YouTube to share these. I don't understand what you mean by insulting quality. Don't check the box that says it's a 3D video, and just upload it. YouTube will think it's just a 1080p video, and you get full 1080p quality for side-by-side (HSBS). Here, look at one of my videos: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AT9-tZZeYHE BTW, I found WD to be pretty great fun. With the 3D fix it makes it a really compelling world. A 3D lesson example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C-kTDMzQLkI

I just mean that quality is really bad. I don't even mean just 3D video. Even 2D. Of course - I'm still talking about 60fps ones. There's no point in showing the awesomeness of 3D, if you show it in 30fps. But even then the quality is too bad. Your WD video is good for us - experienced 3D Vision users - it helps to see what 3D we can expect. But for the people that still think "3D is a gimmick, I don't think it's a good feature", your video quality is not enough. It has the detail resolution below PS2 SD (PS2 resolution, or even Dreamcast). I play games since 1990, and I grew allergic to the image flaws that weren't there 20 years ago. So I'm (really) allergic to 30fps and motion blur, be it from the display flaws, or in-game. No, no, no, and no once more. ;) I think every gamer should play games in: - 3D - 60fps - low persistence (which makes the 30 vs. 60fps difference 100x bigger) and that's why I won't ever upload a 30fps video, when I try to convince anyone to something (like 3D in this case). I mean - 30 years ago we had 60fps games, and we were able to play games in higher than SD resolution for 15 years. We cannot promote technology of the future when we have one leg in the (distant) past.

Ronson, perhaps you're not using the little gear icon to set quality to 1080p first?

Hahaha. :) No, I do use it. You can use 4K Video Downloader (freeware), download a YT video and check its bitrate. It's bad. Perfectly matches the perceived quality though. Beside the resolution - Even on my video - dust clouds and terrain behind the DoF (blur) is a little blocky. On YT it's really affecting the 3D effect. It's still there, but it's distorted.
