Slow Vista shutdown Caused by 3D glasses driver service
I've just updated my GeForce GTX 295 drivers under Vista 64-bit to version 197.45. This is the first driver I have installed that includes support for the 3D glasses. I have a CRT monitor and don't own these glasses. I've read about the "NVIDIA Stereoscopic 3D Driver Service" nvSCPAPISvr.exe having a memory leak problem, but it is also responsible for a substantial delay in my Windows shutdown process (17 out of 20 seconds). I've set this service to "manual" and that has sorted the issue. I only noticed this problem because I upgraded from pre-3D glasses drivers and have a clean system with a pretty speedy shutdown process. Those with a sluggish shutdown may not have noticed the additional delay.
