GLDirect unlocks 3D Vision support for older OpenGL titles

Hi everyone,I have two questions:
1-which os system is the best(I have my pc with dual boot-win 7 x64 and win xp x32)?
2-Does It work with any N64 emulator?
Thanks in advance.

I've tried putting the OpenGL32.dll in the sysWow64 and the system32 folder by right clicking on the opengl32.dll files already in them and going to properties, security, then advanced, the go to Owner tab, then click Edit, then click on your User Name to highlight it, and click apply. This will replace the owner of the file with you and give you permissions. Then go back to the Security Tab in properties and click the edit button while having your User Name selected, then make sure to check full permissions, then apply. Now you can do whatever you want with the file, MAKE SURE YOU BACK IT UP FIRST, MAKE TWO BACKUPS. Then you can replace it, but when I did this the game I'm trying to launch "Amnesia: The Dark Descent" crashes and gives an error... " Amnesia.ese caused an EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION in module <UNKNOWN> at 0023:00000000 ". I'm trying with this guys version of GLDirect because it comes with an interface, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GcJiBSMHEIY, with the install, and the games launcher is recognizing the GLDirect as the graphics driver but the game still won't run in 3D. To get his program running, just install, reboot, then right click and set compatibility to windows 98.

Has anybody gotten GLDirect to work with C#/Tao Framework applications? Putting the dll inside my application directories has no effect. I wish I could just replace the system OpenGL dll, but Windows 7 doesn't want to allow it. May need to boot in Linux and replace it manually. Why can't they include this in the drivers? I don't know what MS is doing to NV to crush OpenGL support but this is sad.
I may need to make a custom build of the Tao Framework...?

If you want to get N64 emulator working in 3D, just download the Rice Video plugin with DX9 and put that in the PJ64 - Emulator I use - folder for the plugin and then it should run in 3D using iZ3D or whatever if you have that plugin set.

Ok first the plugin you need is Rice Video Plugin 6.1.3 DX9 version. Then make sure you put the dll files in the right places, there's RiceVideo6.1.3DX9.dll, RiceVideo.dll, and the ini all go in the PJ64 plugin folder. Also be sure to click settings and set it as the Video plugin, then open up the graphics settings. Make sure it is set to DirectX in the General tab. Personally I have 32 bit used on all the tabs I can, and Load high res textures enabled. 1920 x 1080 and Anisotropic Filter set to 16x. Then I change the texture enhancements to see which one I like the best. iZ3D is set to anaglyph, then go to Profile in iZ3D control panel and set up your shotcut keys and turn off the Wizard by unchecking show wizard in the game tab.
Now, make sure to Enable Stereo in iZ3D and then load up PJ64. I've got my Seperation keys set to ctrl+[ and ctrl+], and my Convergence keys set to ctrl+; and ctrl+'. Then I set seperation to about 40 to 60, depending on the game, and convergence to somewhere around -0.2 - -0.3 until objects really close up look right and objects further away look good to. Good luck.

I would like to know if someone has managed to make work Call of Duty (the original, the first), I have tried but it does not launch, it gives an error (appcrash). That's all.
Could someone test it, to see if it is just me? Tx!

Yeah, Don't use Nvidia 3D used iZ3D. If you're using Nvidia, it probably won't work because of the way the emulator does its Fullscreen emulation. Not sure why but I tried with all the Video Plugins that will work in 3D and none work using Nvidia Vision. Its actually working, but the 3D isn't being created, you can see by using the anaglyph mode and when you turn it on the screen tints red but thats all it does, so still only using one camera, iZ3D works though.
Are you using some kind of different glasses? I just use Red/Cyan glasses for N64 and use either Tridef Ignition or iZ3D. If you've got a certain kind of glasses, try both Tridef Ignition and iZ3D to see if either support them, if not you're out of luck with PJ64 cause Nvidia 3D doesn't work with it.

The GLDirect project is one of the best things to happen to 3D Vision since NVidia all but dropped OpenGL support. You simply place the GLDirect build of opengl32.dll into the same folder as the game executable. Thanks to GLDirect, 3D Vision is verified as working with the following games that I've tested so far:
- Alice (American McGee's)
- Star Wars Jedi Academy
- Kingpin: Life of Crime
- Classic ID Software titles (Doom, Doom 2 HoE, Heretic, Hexen) via jDoom 1.8.6 and Doomsday Kickstart 2.09.
- Half-Life
Pros:
- Easy installation, just drag-and-drop opengl32.dll. No special configuration or patching required.
- Excellent 3D effects. Minimal foreground ghosting and no background ghosting at maximum depth. I haven't changed the default convergence; see Cons for a point about this.
- Stereoscopic 3D sight works perfectly.
Cons:
- Resolution set by the game itself, not by GLDirect. This is important, since the games targeted by GLDirect tend not to support 1680x1050 resolution by default. Quake 3 engine games such as Alice and Jedi Academy let you override the supported resolutions. I've not discovered how to do this with Quake 2 engine games such as Kingpin, so I cannot yet play this in native 1680x1050.
- EDIT. Kingpin, Half-Life, and in fact most Quake 2-based games can be forced to 1680x1050 by hex-editing the game executable.
- Perspective is too distant. These OpenGL-based titles don't have the "up in your face" 3D effects that I expect from native DirectX games. For my definition of "up in your face", run the 3D Vision test app and notice that the spinning NVidia logo appears to fly out from the monitor. Changing convergence might fix this, though I'm reluctant to go there.
As an aside, I ran Kingpin with dgVoodoo, a DirectX wrapper for 3DFX Glide API calls. The green-text NVidia game info overlay appeared, but the actual 3D effects could not be enabled. Sadly, not all DirectX wrappers are created equal.
EDIT. As I do more tests, I'll update my list above. Feel free to download GLDirect, test out other OpenGL-based games yourself, and post your results! /stud.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':stud:' />

Hello,

Just needed to add that if you're using Half-Life or other Half-Life mod/based games on Steam, you run the risk of getting VAC'd from secure servers due to any modified opengl32.dll in the game's folders (the same goes for Paranoia mod for Half-Life). You can use it in single-player, demo playback and non-secure servers, but don't join any secured servers with the modified opengl32.dll file next to hl.exe.
Other than that, 3D works fine but the text and GUI overlay gets a double vision as you adjust the coverage and depth.

opposing force is amazing in 3d. the pistol has a lasersight (right mouse click) that works perfectly.
1. rename hl.exe to quake2.exe -> hud stays mono
2. create a shortcut and edit the target field like this: D:\Half-Life\quake2.exe -game gearbox -noforcemaccel -noforcemspd -noforcemparms -dev -console
3. activate compatibilty mode: win98/me
4. create autoexec.cfg in gearbox folder:
default_fov "100"
cl_bob "0"
cl_rollangle "0"
5. edit config.cfg or use console: fps_max "59" (very important! this considerably reduces input lag)
6. increase convergence and save profile.
don't use msi afterburner with gldirect!

I've just read the whole thread and I need to say that this is awesome. It's great to know that classic OpenGL titles can also be enjoyed in 3D on new systems! But there's something that's unclear to me: does the current release of GLDirect work on 64 bit versions of Windows?
Also, can anyone try the Cube and Cube 2 games with GLDirect and post the results? P.S.
I found another OpenGL to Direct3D wrapper: Titanium GL.

Good luck.

I have that plugin installed and working but when I go to active 3D the glasses come on and that's it.
Any help?
Could someone test it, to see if it is just me? Tx!

Hello,
I have just tried this as you have described and I can not get it to work. I get game launch sound, a black screen and a white window. I am using all the latest drivers.
Any ideas. Thanks

Other than that, 3D works fine but the text and GUI overlay gets a double vision as you adjust the coverage and depth.

1. rename hl.exe to quake2.exe -> hud stays mono
2. create a shortcut and edit the target field like this: D:\Half-Life\quake2.exe -game gearbox -noforcemaccel -noforcemspd -noforcemparms -dev -console
3. activate compatibilty mode: win98/me
4. create autoexec.cfg in gearbox folder:
default_fov "100"
cl_bob "0"
cl_rollangle "0"
5. edit config.cfg or use console: fps_max "59" (very important! this considerably reduces input lag)
6. increase convergence and save profile.
don't use msi afterburner with gldirect!

Also, can anyone try the Cube and Cube 2 games with GLDirect and post the results? I can't do that, because I still use an old computer with the XP nVidia stereo drivers that support OpenGL natively.
P.S.
I found another OpenGL to Direct3D wrapper: Titanium GL.
