How I fixed top 20% ghosting

Just thought i would weigh in here, i also had the out of sync problem with the latest drivers 270.61. tried disabling the USB enhanced host and that has helped with the top of screen ghosting, its still there but not as bad, this also fixed the going out of sync problem, i couldnt stick to using 100hz as the flicker was murder on my brain lol.

I have an Asus Crosshair III mobo with AMD chipset and i am using one of the ports directly connected to it, and nothing is plugged in the adjacent port, hope this helps :)

Like someone said before, the usb timing affects the sync. If you go too far either way then you will run into ghosting. And it differs from screen to screen. Hell, even if two screens from the same manufacturer roll off the assembly line in China at the same time one could have ghosting and one could be perfect.

Andrew has no way around this unless they give us the ability to tweak the sync.

This fixed my out of sync with 270.61, thank you. I also found creating a custom refresh of 119.996 fixed it. But then you will get red message on screen and flipped eyes. My system is amd 555 unlocked at 3.5ghz, 4gb 1600, gtx460, vista32, acer 5360.

omfg...tbh when I first read this topic I thought this was just another person spreading a rumour. Well, I do owe you an apology: This really works.
I'm even more surprised since my system is only about five months old - it got plenty of USB ports and apart from the IR emitter I only got three other devices connected. Even plugging the Emitter into an USB 3.0 port (as the only device) didn't do anything. And yes...I also tried plugging it into all the other ports - nothing really improved things.
So I was quite sceptical when i tried out your solution - but (and this is really the part I can't stress enough) you are a genius. Just started AC Brotherhood again; I couldn't ride outside Rome without instantly seeing every pillar in "drunkmode" at roughly 30% depth. Now I upped it all to 80% and the game still looks perfect. Yes, slight ghosting here and there but at 80% it's bound to happen - still, a lot less than before.

Well..thanks monkeysocks

As for my system (think someone from Nvidia asked about that before): Asrock 890GX Extreme 3, AMD X6 1075T and a GTX470 (nothing overclocked atm)

It appears that this may help only AMD-platform users that for some reason may get more ghosting than they should be normally.

There is no point in trying it out on an Intel-based platform as it will most likely do nothing.

It might be related to so of the power saving features on the AMD for example, so anyone willing to play with enabling/disabling these from BIOS and trying if it will help reduce the ghosting without messing with the USB ports?

@Bloody

Did a bit of testing with that earlier - well, before I tried the USB solution from the OP. Didn't do a slight bit of difference for me.

I have no USB options in my BIOS as I'm running a very early beta BIOS, the later ones don't let me unlock my dual core into a quad core.

I'm going to switch to Sandy Bridge soon, I wonder if it'll make a difference.

Glad it worked for you too! I've had friends come round and verify with USB 2 enabled and disabled, there's definitely a night and day difference. :)

Hello,

The issue with 3D vision emitter sync appeared sometime ago. In 267.xx drivers this wasn't an issue. So it seems that nvidia definetly changed something.
I tested this on 2 different AMD plaforms (some friends using Intel platforms didn't registered any difference) and I can say this only affects AMD users.
Besides fixing the ghosting from the top side to almost 0 ghosting it also fixes the out-of-sync problem that exists in the latest drivers when using 110-120Hz refresh rates.

Test systems:

1.
MB: Asus M4A77TD PRO + Amd Phenom II X4 945 @3.8Ghz (using AMD chipset) + Asus GTX 590.

2.
MB: Gigabyte Motherboard (don't remember the model) using AMD chipset + AMD X2 3800+ @ 2.5Ghz + Leadtek GTX295

Monitors used: 2xSamsung SyncMaster 2233rz.

All the latest available drivers were used in these machines.

Hope this helps.

This trick enabled us to have a perfect 3D image across the whole screen. Previously we had some minimal ghosting/double outlines in the upper 5 or 7% of the screen (the rest of the screen was always excellent) and we were considering this “normal” and living with it. Now every part of the screen, 100%, including the top 10%, is perfect and displays rock solid, crisp 3D!

Thanks a lot!

Recently after updating to drivers 270.61 I've noticed a really high crosstalk on top of the screen and even in the center a little bit. Disabling the hub and trying 110 hz I've found almost a perfect condition for 3d ,that anyway never was.
Obviously other usb devices must be on another hub, otherwise they'll run as slug.
