Hi everyone,
I'm using a panasonic L55ET5B passive 3DTV with the edid override so I can use 3d vision but am sick of having to turn the glasses upside down.
Want to know when will nvidia either support all passives natively , or else include interleaved and an eye swap button in 3DTV PLAY?
I would happily buy 3DTV play , although I think that with the money I spent on my SLI cards that I shouldn't have to go jumping through hoops just to get my tv to work in 3d, but I would still buy it if it had interleaved mode.
I think it's very cheeky of nvidia to go this route and expect you to pay more to get basic driver support.
That is the reason I went passive in the first place, I didn't want to be limited to 30fps @ 1080p in 3D.
As you can imagine 30fps is not workable at all for most games.
The option to go for a 120hz monitor wasn't possible either for 2 reasons, active gives me a headache, and they don't come in 55 inch :)
So when can I expect this to be added to either the drivers or 3DTV play?
Passive tv's are becoming a much larger part of the market place and nvidia is dropping the ball on this one.
Cheers,
Mark.

Hey Budy, I wish I was limited to 1080p30hz with 3DTV Play, that would be good enough for quite a few a games that are playable at 30fps. Even most console games are limited to 30fps.
You're wrong there, 3DTV Play limits us to 1080p24hz = 24fps, or the ugly scaled 720p60hz.
We used to have a 3D Vision mode known as Generic CRT mode, where some 3DTVs, mainly 2010 Samsungs, could benefit from 1080p30hz, cause these TVs supported all 3D modes available in the market, including frame sequential, since TVs have only 60hz input, we could play games at 1080p30hz = 30fps max.
3DTV Play format is frame packing, only capable of 1080p24hz, so it's just 24fps max. I can honestly say to you that some games are quite playabale at 30fps, but no game is playable at 24fps.
the feeling of playing a game in FS mode 1080p30hz is much better and smoother than FP mode at 1080p24hz. I can assure you that from personal experience using my Samsung TV.
Now, I understand you want interleved mode added to 3DTV PLay, as it's already supported in 3D Vision, but only the Zalman monitor I understand have official 3D Vision interleaved support.
Are you using the Zalman monitor EDID in your Panasonic TV? I didn't know Panasonic had passive TVs, only active as far as I knew. I hope they still make Active TVs, cause I like it more than passive, and Panasonic makes the best active plasmas for 3D, best quality and less ghosting overall TVs in the market.
Can't you just swap sides using your TV 3D options? I've never heard of a 3DTV that doesn't have an option where you can correct the 3D effect, by changing/swaping sides L/R. My Samsung 2010 Plasma 3DTV has an option called Picture Correction, kind confusing name I think, they should label it diferently, but it does that, it swap sides when 3D effect is reversed and has that weired 3D effect.
If your Panasonic 3DTV doesn't have such an important correction option feature, which is mandatory for any 3D equipament, than it's a major flaw and I would never buy a Panasonic 3DTV if this is really true. Are you sure your TV doesn't have such feature inside 3D options?
You really should not have to turn your glasses upside down. I have a Samsung TV that also features interleaved 3D mode and I've tried the Zalman EDID so I could try some games in interleveaed mode, and I always had to correct the 3D effect by using the swapping sides correction feature. I've never had to use my 3D glasses upside down, this doesn't make sense....
I can imagine how incomfortable and annoying this could be...lol
I stick to Checkerboard more often for my Plasma TV, since it's better for active TVs than interleaved mode for 3D gaming.
Hey, cross your fingers and don't lose hope. We've been asking for Checkerboard official suppport in 3DTV Play, and now we have it. Well, it took long 2 years for this addition, so maybe we'll get interleaved and also SBS support added to 3DTV Play in the long term, but I woudn't be anxious about it.

Hey, I'm not sure if Passive displays and TVs have a correction picture feature, where you can swap sides??? I've never used a passive 3DTV before, sorry, but I forgot to pay attention to that.
One more reason I stick with active displays rather than passive. I use the picture correction feature in my TV quite a lot, specially with Checkerboard and the banned Generic CRT mode.

I don't use any 3D mode on the tv. Just output an interleaved signal via 3dvision using the zalman edid and the polarizing filter on the tv does the rest so you get no lag at all from using 3d mode.
Therefore there is no way to swap the eyes, unless I use a reg hack and then write protect the reg keys.
But that is a pain as it doesn't save settings for individual games then, and have to unwrite protect when I want to change setting or update drivers.
Was going to get a plasma originally but I don't like the ill effects associated with active shutter tech and didn't want to be limited below 60fps.
Also as it's my main monitor plasmas are still no good as they still suffer from IB and IR.
For me anything below 60fps is less than desirable and for some games such as First person shooters, it completely unplayable.
All they need to do is include an option to output in interleaved mode for any 3DTV and an option to swap the eyes.
Even just a button to swap the eyes would do the job for the time being as I can make do with the edid hack to get interleaved.

Same applies to nvidia :) Why they don't have an eye swap button baffles me.

I'd have to agree that Nvidia is dropping the ball by not supporting these passive 3D HDTVs with their native interleave 3D format.
Of course the manufacturers could always buy the Optomized for GeForce certification and get the real support that buyers really want.
