Metro: Lat Light 3D Vision Isuues
  1 / 2
Alright, so I posted this issue on the Last Light thread but I've had no luck so far and I've seen a couple other people with my issue so I thought I'd start a new thread. Basically the issue I'm having is strange reflections and shadows in 3D on many objects in the game. I've uploaded some photos here - http://photos.3dvisionlive.com/Remer/ Hopefully they illustrate what I'm talking about. I've added a description to some of the photos highlighting the issues. Not that they aren't noticeable. I'm using the latest drivers and I've tried reverting to older ones with no luck. Also I'm running everything on very high settings. Everyone says this game is perfect in 3D so it must be something with my system or I'm going crazy. Thanks in advance, I greatly appreciate any help.

I can see the issues in your screenshots. Checking out other peoples screenshots on Visionlive and elsewhere I notice similar lighting anomalies, so it's not just you. However, I would say they are pretty minor considering everything else in the game. That being said I don't own the game (yet) so I don't know how irritating the issue might be. You have not said if you tried different quality settings other than max, I suggest you try the lowest possible settings to see if it still happens - if it does then the issue is fundamental to the game and you're stuck with it unless they fix it, or if it does not happen then it means there is some setting in there you can fiddle with to get rid of it.

Try changing your graphics settings from "Very high" to "High".

Yes, when I turn the settings down to "High" many of the problems do go away. The point is that most people don't have to make that compromise and for some reason some of us do. I want to know why that is so I can fix or circumvent the issue so I can get the highest quality 3D experience the game has to offer, just like 2033 allowed. I just had my brother try out the 3D in very high and I told him specifically about the weird effects. He reports none of these problems.

Are you sure you are running dx11? Do you have tesselation setting available in options? (This indicates you are using dx11). I had anomolies in dx9 that I did not notice in dx11

I think it depends on the person and if they have settings at max or not. I saw lighiting/shadow issues in 5 mins of game. Shadows were off on somekind of vent [edit: Its a broken light] I haven't played in over a week because of comp issues and I know they didnt fix hiccups/sli issues. I think its all lighting in darkened areas [camp fire]. I really want to see if they bother to fix these issues before I mess around with the files. I kind of agree its not 3d vision ready. Id honestly forgive the convergence mess[if not for the real reason] but Turning from very high -> high is a bit unforgivable. Like they knew game had issues and did nothing about it thats why we got the convergence lock [Shadows at very high/ Lensflares though shadows were just as obvious at low convergence]. Like that was an extremely half ass solution. They could of even half assed it and let us lower that one lighting setting. I'd be happy and I could even live with the lensflare issues. Because seriously as is they are telling us to lower 5 different graphical settings. Don't get me wrong, besides Chiri I did more then anyone to get the most out of this game. I just really refuse to call this game 3D vision ready though. Seriously so many people are praising it, I want you to think what it would be like without Chiri's convergence unlocker. Thats what we had for Resident Evil 5, La noire,[Borderlands 2 couldn't figure it out lol], etc for years and those are third person games[Where you need more convergence.] I seriously find it sad that people are more likely to play this game cause it has a tag saying 3d vision ready then something by Helix thats beyond this where game started off a travesty. This game just wound up pretty compatible out of box, no work what so ever and they found a point where it looked good enough and called it a day.

Thank you for being one of the few people to acknowledge this major problem, eqzitara. Don't get me wrong, the game is fucking gorgeous and the devs have my undying respect, but I wish they would have focused more on the 3D Vision before marketing it as ready if this issue is not truly limited to me. I guess we'll see what they do and I'll try to report these issues to them in some way. It would be a damn shame if we didn't get to explore this amazing game in 3D.

They were working in crappy conditions in the Ukraine, they probably didn't even have a 3d monitor to test it on. Maybe it shouldn't have been marketed as 3d-vision ready, though it still looks great in 3d (on high).

I honestly haven't had any issues with 3D in this game. Everything to me seems to render perfectly in 3D and I'm quite picky when it comes to 3D anyway so maybe some of these issues have something to do with drivers (there are new whql drivers out just yesterday I think and there's been a couple of patches for the game out already as well, though I don't know if they address any possible 3D rendering issues) or with some hardware configurations. To me this game is as 3D Vision Ready title as one can be. I'm currently on my second play-through and this time in Ranger mode and I really like the increased challenge.

Can you do me a favor and look at a specific game spot where I get a wicked reflection bug? It's on level 9, Bolshoi, right after you go inside. Here's a side angle shot where I see the glitch. [url]http://photos.3dvisionlive.com/bo3bber/image/519333735ec346706800012c/[/url] But the glitch is much worse if you move the right slightly, and look at the tile floor. There is a reflection from the blueish light upstairs at the end of the hall. I get this bug on Very High on both Beta and last WHQL driver, SLI or no-SLI. I'd be very curious how yours looks, to see if we can understand what is different.
