No, I stopped using DirectX10 when I was running AFR2. So I've since been using what everyone else is using, DirectX11 with settings similar to yours.
Also noticed in Nvidia inspector, the Max Payne profile is using AFR2, whereas the Grand Theft Auto Profile is set to use predefined auto-select.
I can't get a solid 55+ in 3D even on lowest settings (ABSOLUTE LOWEST) with my GTX 780 and I7 + 16 GB 2400 mhz Ram... i guess you need SLI to play this game in 3d ?

What resolution are you targeting?

I would say that you are definitely going to be challenged to play with a solid 55+ with a single card, in 3D. Those show single 780 hitting 95 average with High settings at 1080p. Which would be 47 or so in 3D at best.
I would expect low options to dramatically change that picture though, which also suggests a CPU bottleneck.

1080P. Yeah i would think dropping everything to normal should improve my framerate but its very minimal which is odd to me. I'ts really hard to play it in 2D when you seen it in 3D

3d surround looks good @6050x1080. the only issue now for me is the crosshair not in correct position. this happens in many games though when in surround.

Doesn't seem to be exactly CPU bound. When I overclock from 3.8G max to 4.2G max for all 4 cores, I don't see any scaling in the game. Certainly no dramatic difference.
When I add a second GPU, I get fairly good improvements, but on the order of 30-50%. I also compared 2nd GPU scenario with 3.8 and 4.2 CPU.
Based on those tests, the only thing that has helped is a 2nd GPU. Presumably a better GPU would also. I have to retract my earlier guess, and say it doesn't seem to be CPU bound.

I saw no difference in from 3.5ghz to 4.8ghz overclock

I think i found solution for the "cant activate 3d vision"
Simply run the 3d vision wizard from nvidia control panel and after that it will work.
I know that it sound strange but it work for me (you need to activate the wizard even if it was activate earlier)

Ok so I just tried this out following Helifax instructions for Surround 3d and immediately I have the issue with 3d being disabled.
This is the third game I have experienced which I guess are three separate engines. Get your crap together nvidia!
Hopefully this game is high profile enough with official 3d vision support we will finally get some real driver attention to this problem.

Ok, these settings are worth a re quote and maybe a sticky here or other places.
This fixed most everything, was over a good solid hour before shaders broke. Shadows were fine, text and grass looking good. Maybe because I had removed the gtav profile and had msaa on. Either way with Max Pane 3 profile and your other settings game is running really well now. Thanks!

Hi guys, I'm also having poor performance in 3d.
Running an AMD FX-8350 with a gtx 970 I pull 20fps or less at 1080p with all settings turned down. Changing settings doesn't seem to affect the frame rate for me at all.
In 2d I run the game with all settings maxed out and get a stable 60fps. Kind of suprised at the huge hit I take in 3d considering it is well over 50% frame cut.
Just wondering if this is the sort of frame rate to expect from a single card or if the AMD cpu is limiting my performance.

For the people suffering from huge performance issues in 3D, I am willing to bet that you guys don't have great CPUs, and ones that do, probably not overclocked to ~4GHz+; and are getting low GPU utilisation.
The problem seems to be a CPU thread bottleneck made problematic by 3D.

Are you sure you didn't tweak the setting to AFR2 in any of the three possible places?

So, scaling is not as good as I thought. It makes a surprisingly huge difference in game 'feel' though, so it's possible the benchmark doesn't reflect that. Usually MIN is the most important parameter for 'feel', but here it shows no real scaling. Max also does not scale dramatically.
The only part that really changes is AVG. Take the last benchmark, the long one as an example:
AVG: (50.7-39.2)/39.2 = 29.3%
MAX: (75.7-64.3)/64.3 = 17.7%
MIN: (12.7 -14.6)/14.6 = -13.0%[/quote]
Thanks for putting in the effort to benchmark the performance of SLI in 3D, that is very useful stuff for helping me decide on purchasing another card.
I have a follow up question that isn't regarding GTA V though. Does SLI seem to be well supported in most 3D Vision supported games? Would SLI show big improvements in the Metro Redux games for instance? Is the 2D support for SLI good as well? I have simply never used SLI but I had a crossfire build in the past and the driver support from AMD was just terrible for it. It sometimes took months for games to be supported (in 2D obviously) and even then they usually had problems with flickering textures and the like. I just want to make sure that if I get another expensive card that the money isn;t going to be wasted.

I'm having problems with the shadows unfortunately.
I'm using Dual GTX780s in SLI (each 6GB Vram), the lates driver, the standard SLI profile and alternate rendering mode 2.
For me, the game renders *completely* different shadows for each eye. For example, if I stand in front of a hill, on one eye, there are shadows on the right side of the hill and for the other eye, the shadows are on the left side of the hill. Also, car and object (and player) shadows aren't working at all. They are offset mutiple meters on each eye (x meters to the left on one eye and x meters to the right on the other).
Sometimes, the water gets really buggy, too. It's not all the time but when it happens, water has no more borders but black squares as borders. A bit like the effect that you get with no antialiasing, the squares are something like 32*32 pixels or so.
Sorry that I can't provide screenshots, I'll try to do so later.
Is there anybody experiencing the same issues and is there a fix yet (besides turning off the shadows)?
And what can I do to get rid of crosstalk in this game? Especially inside of building, there's *huge* crosstalk. I don't have any ghosting in other games, but in GTA V it's kinda omnipresent...

Check Bob's post for recommended 3d settings. Use nvidia inspector to change the profile to Max Payne 3 with his other recommended settings I reposed a page ago. Fixes almost everything.

Running an AMD FX-8350 with a gtx 970 I pull 20fps or less at 1080p with all settings turned down. Changing settings doesn't seem to affect the frame rate for me at all.
In 2d I run the game with all settings maxed out and get a stable 60fps. Kind of suprised at the huge hit I take in 3d considering it is well over 50% frame cut.
Just wondering if this is the sort of frame rate to expect from a single card or if the AMD cpu is limiting my performance.

The problem seems to be a CPU thread bottleneck made problematic by 3D.

Thanks for putting in the effort to benchmark the performance of SLI in 3D, that is very useful stuff for helping me decide on purchasing another card.
I have a follow up question that isn't regarding GTA V though. Does SLI seem to be well supported in most 3D Vision supported games? Would SLI show big improvements in the Metro Redux games for instance? Is the 2D support for SLI good as well? I have simply never used SLI but I had a crossfire build in the past and the driver support from AMD was just terrible for it. It sometimes took months for games to be supported (in 2D obviously) and even then they usually had problems with flickering textures and the like. I just want to make sure that if I get another expensive card that the money isn;t going to be wasted.
I'm using Dual GTX780s in SLI (each 6GB Vram), the lates driver, the standard SLI profile and alternate rendering mode 2.
For me, the game renders *completely* different shadows for each eye. For example, if I stand in front of a hill, on one eye, there are shadows on the right side of the hill and for the other eye, the shadows are on the left side of the hill. Also, car and object (and player) shadows aren't working at all. They are offset mutiple meters on each eye (x meters to the left on one eye and x meters to the right on the other).
Sometimes, the water gets really buggy, too. It's not all the time but when it happens, water has no more borders but black squares as borders. A bit like the effect that you get with no antialiasing, the squares are something like 32*32 pixels or so.

Is there anybody experiencing the same issues and is there a fix yet (besides turning off the shadows)?
And what can I do to get rid of crosstalk in this game? Especially inside of building, there's *huge* crosstalk. I don't have any ghosting in other games, but in GTA V it's kinda omnipresent...

Check Bob's post for recommended 3d settings. Use nvidia inspector to change the profile to Max Payne 3 with his other recommended settings I reposed a page ago. Fixes almost everything.
