Origina Unreal and Unreal Tournament and 3D Vision A good little find
As we all know, 3D vision basically supports Directx API's 9, 10, and 11. As PC gamers, we aslo like playing our OLD games. Well, I've been wanting (and trying) to play the original Unreal Gold and Unreal Tournament ('99) and their numerous mods in 3D vision.
It was suggested in this forum that there exists a Direct 3D 10 renderer that should work for 3D Vision. Located here: http://kentie.net/article/d3d10drv/
I've tried this renderer and though my indicator light comes on the emitter, the image has no seperation whatsoever. It is simply displayed in '2D' with the emitter on as if it is engaging 3D. I've tried the latest v.19 (which is the latest), v.17, and v.15, and all of them give you the same result. (Note: for v.18 and v.19, you'lll need to install the Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package (x86) and Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package (x64). I installed both the x64 and x86 versions just to be thorough.)
If anyone has had luck with the D3D10 renderer, please let me know.
On the other hand, I HAVE had success and the 3D quality is excellent with the DIRECT 3D 9 RENDERER. You can get it here: http://www.cwdohnal.com/utglr/ You'll see Release 13 down in the news section.
The 3D emitter comes on, I have seperation, and the image is in 3D and is pretty much damn near perfect. I loaded up Marathon : Resurrection and away I go.

give me a little more details here. Is this in reference to the D3D10 renderer or D3D9 renderer? What are you naming the EXE to? Why do you have to rename the EXE at all if it works as is with D3D9 renderer? What does CTRL-F11 supposed to do?

CTRL+F11 is Cycle Frustrum Adjustment. It's one of the advanced settings like the settings for convergence. Basically it can get rid of "garbage" at the edges of the screen which is, if I understand correctly, caused by the game engine not drawing things because it considers them off the screen when you change depth/convergence.

Dang it!!! Really nice find! My 7900 recently left me and of course also old-school stereogaming with it. :( I'll get back with info how it works for me with some old gems. Thanks!

Okay. I got the D3D 10 renderer working by renaming the UnrealTournament.exe to UnrealTournamentx.exe with 3D vision.
I was disappointed with the results compared to the D3D 9. With the D3D10 render i had some ghosting and some eye strain at maximum depth. For this application the D3D 9 renderer is heads and tails better than the D3D10 renderer for 3D vision. The image is crisp, no ghosting, and the 3D aiming sight works great (the aiming sight doesn't work at all with the D3D10 renderer).

I tried the Direct 3D 10 renderer on Unreal Tournament as suggested, but when I enable Nvidia 3D Vision, I ended up with a black screen except for UI and corona effects.
Direct 3D 9 renderer on Unreal and Unreal Tournament looks functional, but the 3D is flat unless I increase the convergence, with GUI going off the screen in the process.
Any help is appreciated.

What a conicidence.. I was just playing original Unreal the other day and was trying the same stuff. Dx9 ran too fast, DX10 didn't separate the image.. but look what i found.

download the DX11 renderer. It works. A few problems here and there but so far I'm half way through the game again in 3d. Now, the gun is very converged along with the menu. So.. it can be iffy. But it's a start.

Just a thought on the running too fast in DX9, did you try changing Processor Affinity? Dropping it down to a single core? Right-Click Taskbar > Start Task Manager > Right-Click Process > Select Set Affinity > Select Only 1 Core/CPU
