I have tried the steps as you suggest here plus I installed the two vcredist's you list on page 58 and I am not running FWS at the moment. I am not sure if it is the vcredist's or not using FWS but I am mostly stable now. Prior to these two steps I was getting frequent crashes on loading screens and sometimes broken 3D.
- The redistributables fixed your problem
- If you are playing at 16/9 Aspect Ratio then FWS is not needed. For other Aspect Ratios (21/9. 16/10, 4:3) it is needed

When you say you kept traveling to test it, how long did you wait before loading another zone? Perhaps I have been jumping from zone to zone too quickly while testing and that might be part of my problem?

When running the game in SLI with the BF4 profile are you experiencing situations where your frame rate cannot meet 60 but the GPU load is not maxing across both GPUs? Either the 347.25 driver or the latest game patch seem to have caused the issue for me. I might try going back to an earlier driver to see if that helps, but I am hesitant to change too much since at the moment I seem to be at least somewhat stable.
- Nope I cannot see that neither on the GTX590 (single screen; is a SLI card) nor on the 2x780Ti (Single Screen or Surround)
- Using 347.25.
- Using BF4 profile on all PCs
- I don't think previous drivers will improve the experience...quite the opposite...
- On the laptop where I am using the 880M(Single GPU) + Win 8.1 (during the test) I had to disable in NVPANEL the shader cache... otherwise is broken 3D all the way...
- On my other SLI systems I am using Windows 7... so maybe that's why you see a difference ?
- If you didn't disable the shader cache for the game then most likely that is why you have weird behavior...

Anyone else have issues with cutscenes?
I'm using the latest version of the fix with the flugan wrapper.
I'm running is SLI surround and have followed all instructions. The game itself works fine but as soon as a cutscene starts, the 3D fix either disables (re-enables) after cutscene or glitches out and everything goes crazy, repeating frames, flickering.

At this point I am back to testing on Win 7. I had too many issues with Win 8.1. I am currently running in Win 7 with shader cache off. I definitely agree that using the shader cache causes weird issues. Maybe I will try the same setup with the redistributables in Win 8.1 for comparison. Maybe I am getting CPU limited and that is what is causing my low framerates. Maybe I will try to search for which settings are more CPU dependent.

My latest settings that are practically trouble free.
- Still playing with Shader cache On. Not even clearing the cache.

- Auto startup of 3d mode disabled via registry
- 3d set to only activate when full screen programs run
- 1980x1080p 120hz. All settings max except for MSAA off, Post processing to medium.
- Vsync off in game but forced to Adaptive in NVCP. (this prevents the problem of things not rendering right on load for me. If I turn it off I get it again)
- Bf4 profile, antialising compatibility set to same as official profile.
- SLI, monitors set to Span surround but forced to single screen resolution and 120hz (may not be needed)
- Flugans first version of wrapper currently but pretty much the same experience with 3dmoto. 3d moto is more stable but I get some problems running post processing on medium
- Latest Nvidia driver
- All other settings as per blog.
I am yet to have any elements fail to startup in stereo or have 3D break in game, even zoning.
I do get the occasional crash when changing areas, but its ok most of the time, I notice some areas are far more prone to it than others hinterlands is probably the worst.
I blame my seldom crashes mostly on engine problems, that occur anyway

Hello all, I would first like to thank you guys for this fix, I can't even imagine how you did it or how much time it took but it is truly amazing.
First I would like to say that I have been playing with this fix since version 1 that you released and promptly updated as you guys came out with new ones. That being said I played the game for about 50 hours with no loading issues but with the occasional CTD but I honestly just chalked that up to drivers, engine, whatever, no big deal, it didn't bother me as it didn't happen to often for me.
This is what I was running when I first loaded the game, Win7x64 fully patched with 2x680 classifieds running in sli, I even had the KB article that you talk about uninstalling on the helixmod site on this OS. Oh, and I think at the time I was running 347.09 of the drivers at the start of all this because I didn't start playing the game when it first came out. Also never had the shader cache on as per instructed.
So like I said, running fine this whole time, upgraded to 347.25 and everything was still fine, in fact I got a pretty good performance increase from that driver for some reason. Couple nights ago I decided to go back to the older driver for something else I was struggling with, BIG MISTAKE, everything was a mess after that. I couldn't get this game to act like it did before to save my life, I could still get it to load into the last saved area (whatever that was, really didn't matter), once in usually something was broken with the shaders, nothing I tried worked.
Totally blew away everything and started over, wiped the drives, clean win7x64 build, NO PATCHES, just windows, and my drivers. So now this is what works for me, no sli running, no caching (like at all, turned it off in the main part of the NVidia control panel). I messed around with a few profiles, BF4(which I used previously) doesn't work for me now, constant crashes. Long story even longer, no profile at all is working perfectly for me with no sli and no shader cache on. Now the game runs faster than it ever has, it loads pretty damn fast off SSD's, as in, so fast I can't believe it. I can load into any area, no shader issues at all, no crashes, no screen blinking to white out. It is a beautiful thing (at least at the time of this posting:)) and all this on a single 680 classified, smooth as silk in 3D!
so my steps outlined in order below, hope it helps, pretty sure you don't have to reload your OS, its just where I started from
Win7x64 SP1 - 3DMigoto
Non-SLI
NO Shader Cache in the main section of the NVCP
Prefer Max Performance
I happen to not need Flawless widescreen
No NVidia profile via the inspector tool, just remove dragonage .exe from any profile it is assigned
You also don't have to worry about the game coming up in comp mode 3d this way as well
install the fix
change the setting in the dxini file for non-sli fog fix
now, I also still use the bat file that is on the helixmod site to launch the game just in case there are lingering cached shaders from NVidia, because believe it or not they are caching things just from being at the windows desktop
Launch the game with the batch file
I really hope this helps someone else, as I beat my head against the wall for a few days straight!

I've never really had any issues with the game in single card mode. Its in SLI where the problems emerge, but performance is too bad on a single card for me. (I have a pretty souped up beast too.)
Try my settings in SLI.
I personally can't bare to play without shader cache on, once you zone practically instantly its really hard to go back.
I've tried running with no profile at all, I get the same issue as on the default profile

Shit. I am back there again. What is wrong with this place.
Anyway i had the weirdest beginning with this game. I have started with normal profile without changing anything in any config and i used very first profile with only few Shaders in there and i`ve played in SLI. Gameplay was smooth with no crashes and 3D was perfect. I believe that i have mix it with some other fix a little bit but that was it.
Than i`ve made mistake and start doing some research. Changed fix to newest one and played a little bit with game profile - all have changed. Suddenly i had everything messed up and couldn`t get proper 3D. Had to do all waht Helifax did and get rid of SLI. Everything is fine right now but at what cost.

I can run the game just fine IF I disable the shader cache in the NVPANEL/profile. Drivers are 347.25. With shader cache on I get crashes or weird behavior and crap.... across all 3 PCs.
After many loading screens you might get a crash to desktop in a loading screen...but that takes quite a few to happen....

I couldn't recompile all almost 2000 shaders.
I encountered CTD and managed to fix the problem by introducing a CriticalSection.
This is reflected in the newly released 1.2 as well as 0.8.5.
Not sure how much it affects the rest of the game but hopefully it won't hurt.

Thanks to everybody using my assembler it warms my heart.
To have a critical piece of code that everyone can enjoy!
What more can you ask for?

What is the difference between 0.8.5 and 1.2? Which is recommended or is it just a case of try to see which is better?
UPDATE: Flugan, in Win 8.1 I tried both the 0.8.5 and 1.2 versions and both significantly increased the loading times in the game. I would say they at least doubled them if not even worse. Also, it still did not compile all shaders. I tested the 3dmigoto wrapper in Win 7 and it did not compile all shaders either. But, in Win 7 at least I do not seem to encounter any broken 3D elements.
While the two vcredist's that helifax points out at the top of page 66 seems to have gotten me very stable with Win 7 and flugan wrapper v1.0, I am still not stable with Win 8.1. I seem to be worse now actually. I cannot get 3D to display properly at all now. I may completely uninstall the fix and reinstall on that side. Perhaps I have messed something up that I missed.
For me right now here is what has me stable in Win 7 with SLI:
- I follow the steps in helifax's post on page 58 with a couple exceptions
- I do not use FWS
- I am using the flugan v1 wrapper (not sure if that is the same one attached to his post)
- I use the BF4 profile with adaptive vsync
- I have shader cache off
- I am using the registry change in his post
I am not a fan of the long loading times but I prefer those over the problems with shader cache on for me.
I am still disappointed by the SLI performance for me though. I know 3D Vision requires more performance but I am able to run with the same settings on my laptop with an 870M and get roughly the same or better framerates than on my PC with two 780Ti's. I know that the same frame rate in 3D is double 2D but I would expect the 780Ti's to be more than twice as powerful as an 870M. Performance is much better with DAI profile but 3D does not work with that profile. It is very strange.
Flugan said:I couldn't recompile all almost 2000 shaders.
I encountered CTD and managed to fix the problem by introducing a CriticalSection.
This is reflected in the newly released 1.2 as well as 0.8.5.
Not sure how much it affects the rest of the game but hopefully it won't hurt.

With the lack of more testing I would suggest 0.8.5 to compile the initial shaders if installing the fix fresh. Exit in main menu. Switch to 0.8 or 1.0 wrapper as 0.8.5 slows down multi-threaded rendering and loading. You can also replace 0.8.5 with 1.2 above.
Be aware that only the shaders loaded by the game will be compiled. Any other shader file will not be compiled at startup.

What more can you ask for?
- The redistributables fixed your problem
- If you are playing at 16/9 Aspect Ratio then FWS is not needed. For other Aspect Ratios (21/9. 16/10, 4:3) it is needed
- Traveling there, doing something like you would normally play (maybe staying in one location around 2-5 minutes ?)

Ah, glad I finally noticed the redistributables then. Being out of town for over a week left me with a lot of catching up to do on the thread. :-)
That might be part of it then as I was not staying in a zone for more than a minute or two. Perhaps that was part of my problem.

- Still playing with Shader cache On. Not even clearing the cache.
- Evil KB update removed. (windows pro 64x)

I've tried running with no profile at all, I get the same issue as on the default profile

Yea I know you can - you are on 3D Surround. Someone mentioned that weird anomaly. Surround make this game run properly in SLI but messed up with single screen. Actually fix makes it act so weird.

Basically on
- Win 7 x64 (with the Evil Update removed)
- GTX 2x780Ti - Single Screen (No surround enabled in NVPanel)
or
- GTX 2x780Ti - 3d Surround
and
- GTX590 (SLI; single screen only; different PC)
and
- GTX880M (no SLI; single screen only; different PC)
I can run the game just fine IF I disable the shader cache in the NVPANEL/profile. Drivers are 347.25. With shader cache on I get crashes or weird behavior and crap.... across all 3 PCs.
After many loading screens you might get a crash to desktop in a loading screen...but that takes quite a few to happen....
