Convergence and Depth settings poll
I cannot find how to create a poll so I hope you guys just drop in and let me know what settings you prefer for Convergence and Depth...for example try a format like:
100% depth and little pop out or %50 and max pop out possible even if I have to focus between my car/character and the action in front....or something like that LOL

Just trying to get an idea.....I guess display type and size is also important to know.

Regards

I also created a thread about guides or basic rules for convergence as I'm still playing with it myself.

For depth though, I found about 30-35% is perfect for me. Enough depth and not too overwhelming and confusing. I might try 40% max though at some point. For convergence, I actually tried to have a good balance, but mostly I want to have the item closest to the eyes not pop out as much, but then the mid-range objects will be split/double vision in some bright scenes/environment. Like I said, still playing with it, but that is mostly my setting.

I would be interested to see how other people play with their depth setting too, however.

I am currently doing %100 as a test then maxing out Pop out.
I have been mostly doing 50% with very out of the screen images but wanted to try a different approach too.

100% depth, huh? I tried it once and I got overwhelmed by it, instant headache. Feels like I am about to fall into the screen haha. In any case, if you say it like that, I might as well try 50% and see if it is still comfortable, then play with the convergence setting. There's no number really for convergence, is there? Just turn it up or down.

As I said, still having problems with the best setting for my games, especially JC2 and BFBC2 for now. It's either I focus on the closer items but then the mid range objects got split (very annoying) or the other way around (not so annoying, but extreme headache ensue). Any suggestions actually will be great!

It really depends on the game as well as display. On a H5360 I never play anything below 100% depth. It has 0 ghosting so no problems there. The only problem with this display is the seperation is a bit less than the LCD monitors. Convergence I set depending on the game.

Hitting Shift+F7 will save the convergence level on a per game basis but not the depth

You mean Ctrl-F7 to save the convergence setting. Yup.

I game on the Alienware LCD, so its 1920x1080 and even though I'm not too troubled with the ghosting, its the double vision/image splitting that bothers me, plus the apparently slow response time of the monitor. :(

I could probably play around with some more later today after work.

I usually keep depth setting low, maybe around 25% and set a healthy amount of convergence.

i usually do max depth unless its an older emulated game , then i do as much depth as i can without any graphical issues if there are any with a nice amount of convergence.

i prefer 100 percent depth- with as much convergence as possible.

Intel I7 920 overclocked to 4ghz

Asus Rampage Extreme II

2 Ge-force 480 in SLI

12gb ddr3 2000mhz ram

Intel SSD in RAID 0

NVIDIA 3D Vision

3d displays tested:

Mitsubishi 65" DLP 3d HDTV (good old 1080p checkerboard since 2007!!!)

Panasonic VT25 (nice 2d but I returned it due to cross talk)

Acer H5360 720p on 130" screen (the best 3d)

23" Acer LCD monitor (horrible cross talk- sold it)

Samsung 65D8000

I thought less Depth and More Convergence gives pop-out
How can you have pop-out at 100% depth

For me Depth about 25% then Convergence up till seperation then back it off till it looks comfortable

Yup you can get popout with 100% depth. Convergence just pushes the point of the scene which is at screen depth back (less convergence) or forward (more convergence). Plus, when you increase convergence at 100% depth you get that cool HD toyification effect!

I kinda like the "toyification" effect. I don't know what it is, but it makes the game(s) more immersive for me. I can't stand playing at anything less than 100% depth since I game on a 65" DLP.

^ This, how the heck do I eliminate this 2-images/split/shadowy objects on the screen. I spent hours trying to play around with convergence to get the best 3D effect with no split images or dual/triple ghosting effect but it seems like I never get a good solid 3D object on the screen. Is it something to do with the hardware or just I'm not getting it?
