3D Vision is BROKEN with 275.27
I've spent the past 3 days wrestling with 3D Vision Drivers after the whole "The Witcher 2" fiasco.

Before ever playing The Witcher 2, I noticed that NVidia had released a new beta driver specifically for that very game, so of course I installed it. After having terrible framerates and only 10% GPU utilization, I read the forums and uninstalled 3D Vision from the control panel, and framerates were great and I could play normally in 2D.

Then the gamemaker published Patch 1.1 saying they fixed the problem with 3D Vision, and we could now reinstall the 3DVision part and play in 3D normally.

So I tried exactly that, and couldn't get past the "Setup your 3D Vision" program; when launched it had the big red box saying invalid mode, even though it WAS a valid mode (120hz, SEE LINK BELOW) - during which time the glasses were flickering randomly.

So I've spent several frustrating nights now completely uninstalling, using driver sweeper, and reinstalling the 275.27 Drivers (Which were specially released FOR THE WITCHER 2 GAME) from scratch multiple times, and each time I get that damned INVALID STEREO3D MODE error (even though the LCD was running at 120hz).

I've gotten so pissed off and fed up with it that I just started from scratch again and went back to the latest WHQL drivers (270.xx WHQL) which I think has resolved the invalid 3D mode / flickering bug, but according to NVIDIA these drivers have visual artifacts with The Witcher 2 in Stereo3D, and aren't optimized for The Witcher 2 in 2D. So basically I'm not able to use the latest shiny new drivers that were specially released for the game that I want to play in 3D.

Please let the Driver Team know that something in the 275.27 drivers seriously screwed up the 3D Vision portion, and causes random flickering on the glasses during the error.

I just installed it and i wished i hadn't there seems to be a problem turning it on with the button and messing everything up. I am working to fix it now. But all it did was make the ir thing not work with web browsers it worked in testing and games. But not on anything else because the best thing was if i had an issue i could turn on the emmiter. Now trying to fix it by uninstalling and reinstalling it doesn't even work. I am going to try the cd to reinstall now instead up the updated drives because i tried reinstalling with those first. But that 275.27 is not worth it. I wish i read all the problems it caused before i installed it. I wish they paid me to test this as much as i put into it.

Yep. It even breaks Splinter Cell: Conviction (which I purchased on Steam last night). It was running at 10fps. I shut down the 3D Vision server and unchecked 3D Vision in the control panel and got my FPS back. The driver is broken, but I'm most irritated that the new WHQL drivers that fixes it, haven't showed up for download yet and no one from Nvidia is responding.

The beta drivers were not released SPECIFICALLY for Witcher 2. That was one of several features.

Patch 1.1 was not billed as fixing the 3D Vision problems. It was supposed to fix the surround 3D issues.

So how many times to do plan on creating duplicate topics, PCChip?

I would like to add the following update:

I installed the 275.33 WHQL drivers and the same problem is happening (basically my 3D Vision is now broken for any application. They all say invalid mode)

However - I found a(n extremely inconvenient) workaround - disabling the second monitor will allow 3D Vision to temporarily work as it's supposed to.

PLEASE get this information to the driver team ASAP

You should try swapping the monitors around on the ports on the card, it might resolve it.

Update: I happened to notice while disabling the secondary 60hz screen (so that I could play a title in 3D Vision) that after disabling it, the main 120hz screen was actually BRIGHTER.

Upon further investigation I realized that it's because the ASUS Monitor thinks it's in 3D-MODE now when it's the only monitor active, therefore making it brighter.

Please let the driver team know this, and keep in mind the previous WHQL driver (actually anyt driver before 275.27 beta) did not have this issue whatsoever.
