Mitsubishi DLP - resolution and color depth issues
I connect my computer (Windows 7 64-bit, with GTX 285 2-way SLI) to Mitsubishi WD-82737, and set resolution to 1768x992 (this way I avoid overscan).
Then I have two choices:
(1) set refresh rate to 60 Hz - but then color depth becomes Medium (16-bit) and Aero gets disabled
(2) set color depth to Highest (32-bit) - but then max refresh rate becomes 24 Hz
It's one or the other - there is no way to set both refresh rate to 60 Hz and color depth to 32-bit.
Is it a known issue with Mitsubishi DLPs?
(It shows as MEUSPTV11 in Nvidia control panel)
This issue does not seem to affect 3D gaming, but affects 3D photo viewer and video player - they refuse to start when color depth is 16-bit.
But if I set it to 32-bit (and refresh rate changes to 24 Hz) then my mouse starts moving a little bit jerky.
Have anybody else experienced these issues with Mitsubishi DLPs?
As usual the drivers are just broken. I was trying to add some custom resolutions/timings to my projector and had the same thing happen. The default resolution which you start with when making the custom one will drop everything but 16 bit, and also lose refresh rate options. Eventually I started with a different resolution, not at all close to the one I was creating and got it to work. (Although it won't really work for me as the pj converts 85Hz to 60Hz internally)

i have no such issue with my dlp. i have 32 bit and 60hz. i set up the desktop using the app in the nvidia control panel called "adjust desktop size and position" in that page there is a button that takes you to the application- "re-size desktop" if memory serves me correctly. if it does not work, (on my system its a bit buggy and has a over scan issue)- simply open your control panel and end the program DWM.exe. this will disable aero themes and allow the over scan app to load properly. you might not have to do this step- but i do on my computer.
set up a custom resolution using this app. once you are done log off and log back in- or restart- and you will be all good to go. report back if there is any more issues....

I have had this EXACT problem!!! Of course it had to happen when some friends were over and I was gonna try and show off the 3D to them lol.
Make sure you are using the newest drivers, but most importantly you need to uninstall the old drivers properly, that was my issue. It's easy to do, and there is really only one tidbit of information you will probably need, and that is to unplug your internet cable first. Once the internet is disconnected, remove everything from the control panel and restart the computer. When it starts back up, run driver sweeper but don't click restart when it asks, say no and close it. Now open it up and check for nvidia drivers again, it should be blank. Now run ccleaner and clean up the registry, you'll need to do it a few times until it finally comes back with no issues. Now you can restart the computer and install the drivers with no worries, after they are installed and you have 3D Vision all set up, shut it down, plug the internet back in, and you should be good to go.
I was having mouse issues as well, as soon as I started unplugging the internet before driver changes, they all went away. Drivers are too damn finicky, they should be able to do all that automatically as soon you run setup.

I have this problem sometimes when I change resolutions too much. Nothing will knock the system out of 16-bit color. I don't know what causes it, but I go into the control panel and have Windows search for problems. It finds it, says the color depth is too low and fixes it.
Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Troubleshooting then under system and security click "fix performance issues."

Good reminder, before I started unplugging the internet with driver changes, I would have the problem and I would just type in aero in search and it would automatically switch to 32 bit and would keep the 60hz.

I reinstalled drivers the way redman223 suggested, and re-activated Aero theme, and got my 60 Hz + 32-bit color depth back!
