Nvidea 3D enthusiast been away for some time and have questions regarding recent 3d games, movies et
I love Nvidea 3d. I have a Panasonic PJD6531w projector and have a great little theater room which I love. I have THOROUGHLY enjoyed Fallout 3 (my fav experience in 3d so far), resident evil 5, bad company 2, metro 2033 and some others. For various reasons I have been away from the 3d community and am planning a fun return of games and movies. That being said, please help me with a few questions...

1-bad company 2...is there some issue regarding the "Aimer" not being in 3d now? I've thought about getting Vietnam and hope it still works well in 3d

2-avatar blue ray 3d. Can i just put the blue ray in my player (don't recall if my player is blue ray or blue ray with 3d...does that matter), and use my 3d compatible projector to enjoy avatar in 3d?

3-mass effect 2 received stellar reviews!!! I have read some confusing reports and posts here about what seemed to be a pain in the butt way to get this game working well in 3d. Des it work well? Is it a pain?

4-dragon age 2 going to be 3d "pre set up?" lol, you know what i mean

What other good movies or games are really going to rock in 3d soon? Crisis 2 i can imagine will probably take months to be running well in 3d, and a real burden on any comp rendering dual images in 3d?

Thanks guys!!!!

Well hello there Mr Postectinator. Thanks for taking the time to vocalize your "protection" of these forums. I understand that my little bump probably greatly altered your day and, with that, you needed to say something. I respect that. It makes so much sense.

-now seriously though...I've watched my post get to the bottom of the page and usually these forums generate helpful replies pretty quickly. I am planning on spending some fun cash...dependent upon what replies I get from my post. Unfortunately, until I know some more info, I can't enjoy a fun trip to the store. I wonder if I need a new blue ray player that is "3d", I wonder what games work well, and if there are any other movies I should pick up. I'm just enjoying my hobby and I PROMISE not to bump this post much out of respect for your position. I know it is quite tough on ya my man.

1. Bad Company 2 - dunno, didn't play it

2. BluRay 3D - dunno, don't have a projector, but you sure can't do it with an LCD monitor.

3. Solutions Gaming says the 3D isn't so great. You can download some screenshots there to see for yourself. NVIDIA says "fair". It sounds like you might be able to use it in spots but, for the most part, you're better off without it.

4. The demo is out for DA2, go see for yourself! (Though the DX11 is a bit broken. The latest beta drivers from NVIDIA might fix the issues.)

The multiplayer demo is out for Crysis 2, also. Batman AA was excellent in S3D so hopefully the follow-up game will be as well. The Witcher 2 might be good but I worry about selecting targets on the screen with a 2D pointer (which can be a real pain in the Dragon Age games, too).

Mass Effect 2 is great in stereo 3D except for one thing. The halo effect from fogvolume shaders. Sometimes I wish I could have access to the code that NVIDIA uses to profile games. I bet you I could fix it. Other than that it's great.

Bad Company 2 - Excellent in 3d! No issues now, they've fixed em.

3d blu ray - You MUST have a 3d blu-ray player, or blu-ray drive with current 3d blu ray software like powereDVD10. Now I don't have a projector, but I'm pretty sure most if not all, 3d projectors can support 3d blu-ray in some fashion.

ME2- Don't bother in 3d. Great game in 2d tho.

DA2 - Everyone is crossing their fingers on this one LOL!!

Other than that, you'll have to try out your own game collection and find 3d settings that suit you. /biggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

I use Nvidea 3d with my projector all day long. As far as my 3d blue ray player goes...I am using a Samsung HT-C6500/XAA. I don't BELIEVE that it is a 3d player...but it connects to my wifi computer and updates with all kinds of software, programs, internet and application abilities. Would anyone know if I can use this thing for 3d...or if it can access 3d software like you mention (powereDVD10).

Thanks so much for the replies....

OH and Mass Effect 2 is getting different replies from you guys. Some say good...others say bad. Aren't there enough "tweaks" to it by now that it is almost perfectly playable???

Thanks!!!

Switching the floating point render thingy to zero fixes the shadowing in fog issues which I personally feel are the most severe. Doing this makes the scenery textures look 'grainy' but I found this easy to ignore once in game. If you a willing to look for some fixes here and can handle aiming without crosshair (you quickly get used to it) you can get ME2 to look perfectly acceptable.
If you can get the game cheap it really is worth it mate. Fantastic game.
