Mafia 2 issue Weird environmental lighting texture flickering based on perspective
I picked up Mafia 2 recently while it was on sale on steam and have been playing it in 3D.

I've noticed this weird issue with the lighting where it will disappear if I look at it from a certain angle. So i'll be cruising around and things will be instantly turning bright and dark all the time as I drive past them. This issue persists even when I hide the stereoscopic effect.

However, if I go into the Nvidia driver settings and disable 3D vision this is no longer the case. I have several 3D vision ready titles that all work as intended. I'm not sure why this is happening with Mafia 2. Changing all in-game Mafia 2 settings does not make this problem go away.

Has anyone else run into this problem and have you found a solution?

The lighting that disappears and reappears based on the cameras perspective only seems to be environmental, NPCs do not have this issue.

I've posted a crappy video of the issue on youtube.

For some reason the aspect ratio is all messed up but the issue is clear: As I move the camera you can clearly see a large patch of shadow flickering on and off, also the cars lights on the left are messed up too.

Can anyone at least tell me if their game does this? Was this a common problem or anything? I'm running these drivers currently: http://www.nvidia.com/object/geforce-3d-vision-winvista-win7-cd-1.45-whql-driver.html

I too bought this on sale recently and finally booted it up today, but I haven't noticed this issue you have ... although i'm still in chapter 2. I'm using the current beta drivers - 267.24

I was wondering if there is a way to unlock convergence, because the 3d is pretty bleh so far, with lots of ghosting. Anyone know how? A Google search hasn't turned up anything and the nvidia search is useless. What's with some '3dvision ready' games doing this? Can we just have an option to turn off convergence lock, Nvidia?? Might as well play in non-stereo. /thumbsdown.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
