Confused about 3D Vision
Ok, first off Hello, as you can see I'm new to the boards here. I look forward to gaining much needed knowledge from my fellow enthusiasts. /wave.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

So now, on to my confusion. I really want to try out 3D Vision, but NV is making it really hard on me. I went and bought a Mitsubishi WD-60738 DLP TV. I thought I saw it on the supported list but I was wrong. Now this model is just a refresh to the WD-60737 that is supported by NV.

So my question is will it work or should I take it back. I'm not paying $500.00 for a 120Hz monitor when all I can find are 24" and below ones, no way I'm downgrading my screen size, bad enough I have to lose resolution.

Will NV ever update their supported Displays? It was kinda conveyed to me that NV supported Mitsubishi and their DLP line of TV's but as I dig more and more I am wrong as only a select few are.

Which brings me to the next point, is this 3D Vision worth it, I'm starting to doubt it as there is no standard to go by yet and it's all just willy nilly in the wild to figure out what works and what doesn't.

I could really use some help here, does NV only support old models of DLP's and the newer ones are not supported nor ever will be?

And just so you all now, I love NV and support them, have for years but I am just so confused with what seems to be a product barely supported by them yet they are trying to tout it and get everyone to buy an unfinished product.

My confusion is becoming frustration if you know what I mean.

Thank you any and all who try to help me understand, I've read many faq's but I still can't seem to grasp what options I truly have to use NVidia's 3D Vision. I'm a gamer and that is a key aspect of me wanting to support and use 3D Vision not just the other guys stuff. :(

On Mitsubishi's main site it says it supports 120hz or DLP link checkerboard, both of which 3d Vision works with. I would assume it would work just fine, even if Nvidia hasn't added it to the list. I'm no expert or nothing and don't even own a DLP TV but it looks as if it should work just fine.

I'm sure some of these DLP experts on this forum will give you more info.

Thank You Acid for a quick response. I'm thinking/hoping it would be supported as well but with out it being on the list worried I will have to play with the inf files or something that I really don't wanna have to do for fear of screwing it up. Everything I gather so far says when in doubt make sure it's on the supported list, if not don't try it. And there really isn't much to choose from as far as supported displays yet. /confused.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Wishful thinking probably but hoping someone will be able to hook me up so I know before it's delivered if I need to change my avenue of purchase.

I really do appreciate the help.

The Mitsubishi DLPs use checkerboard input and this format is supported by 3D vision. Just select the option "Generic DLP" in the 3D setup wizard.

Btw, it is just 60Hz input. The TV descrambles the checkerboard pattern and shows left and right view one after the other, thus producing the 120Hz output.

My old 3D-ready Samsung plasma HDTV works exactly the same way and works fine with 3D vision, as it does with iZ3D and TriDef 3D drivers.

ok, I'm going to bump this again. So I got NV 3D Vision and couldn't get it to work with my Mits. DLP.

So I stacked it away fro another say to try. Well been messing with it all day to no avail.

Just wondering if any body else is using 3D Vision with a Mitsubishi WD-60738 DLP? I have the software upgraded so it has the logic which is what the converter used to be for that Mits. has so it's 1.4a compliant. I can't even figure out how to try and use Play.

Main concern is this, whenever I go to setup the Vision it goes to a blue screen on my tv as though no signal is coming through. But if I run it through the mits converter and turn it on to side by side i get signal and the image on screen is way distorted though.

Any ideas are appreciated.

You know what NV, that's fine if you don't want to support products you make and give decent compatibility. I'm just going to sell off all my 480's and my 470 and buy ATi, at least Tri-Def is free for ATi users and unlike 3D Vision it actually works.

Nv I just want you to know you lost a loyal customer because you have horrible product support. I mean you support a DLP from years ago but I'll be damned if you support a 2010 model DLP. Which is cool in my book, i mean I only spent like $200.00 for 3D Vision, plus $1500 on gfx cards for the 400 series. So I understand why you don't care about supporting your products.

To all 3D Vision users, just buy ATi and then use IZ3D for your 3D, not only is it cheaper but it actually WORKS!!!!! Or buy Tri-Def for like $50. Actually, you can get get TriDef free with ATi.... hhmmmm

Such a love hate relationship with you NV.
