I've got a laptop with 3dvision 2. It technically works but it -------only-------- works inside the nvidia control panel. I can enable it and test it. Nothing more, nothing less, nothing else.
I haven't used 3d vision in a long time. I was using an oculus rift for quite a while. Now Im' back to trying to use 3d vision glasses.
There is supposed to be an option below the 'change 3d laser sight' and 'set keyboard shortcuts' buttons that allows the user to change which situation 3d mode runs in. This option is missing. Why is it missing?
It seems like this is a windows 10 thing? That's great, what do I do about it and why would the control panel interface not account for that?

Like PirateGuyBrush, I have been using 3DVision for maybe 4 years now and have win 7,8 & 10 and have never seen the additional options either.
If I am right about the options you are looking for, there is a little app that one of the users created that allows manipulation of when 3D Vision is active, as well as other settings that were only available via the registry.
It's called "Advanced 3Dvision Configuration." and is available below:

I hope that helps!

EDIT: Just curious, were you always using a laptop for 3DV? Maybe you were using a customized Nvidia driver that the folks @ laptopvideo2go (I think I got that right) used to/maybe still do post? Just a theory.
EDIT II: If all else fails, try a complete NV driver uninstall/reinstall using the "Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU)" utility first, then reinstall the latest driver for your OS & hardware.

That option is still available in the Windows 7 branch of the driver.
I don't know about Windows 8/8.1 but under Windows 10 is removed.
I remember reading somewhere that this change is because of how the WDDM in Windows 10 works.
You can still change the options from the windows registry though. Or you can use Advanced 3D Vision Configuration: http://helixmod.blogspot.co.uk/2015/10/advanced-3d-vision-configuration.html
Hope this helps:)

Right Helifax ! I'm on Win 7, and this option has allways been there !
You choose 3D screen mode.
1. Allways
2. Only when a 3D program is running
3. Only when a 3D Program is running in fullscreen
Also over at the HelixModBlog site, you'll find stereoscopic compatibility fixes for games.

In Windows 10, if the "Select when the display is in 3D mode" option is missing, then what is the default setting? Is it "Only when full-screen 3D programs run"?
Just curious as there's a number of Dx9 fixes where a profile is needed to activate 3D in windowed mode and it won't work if "Only when full-screen 3D programs run" is selected .

On Windows 10 is always ON. Windowed mode dx9 (with correct flag) will work.
