I've just updated my laptop's drivers to 197.16 including the 3D Vision drivers. I was previously running a modded driver from Laptopvideo2go before I realised nVidia now had laptop drivers on the website. My system has a GeForce 8400M GS. I have the 3D Vision folder in my Start menu but when I click to enable 3D Vision I only get an error message stating: "This laptop's panel is not qualified for 3D Vision.".
I only want to run red/cyan stereoscopy which as far as I'm aware nVidia call '3D Vision Discover', not full '3D Vision'. I can't find any drivers or anything for just 3D Vision Discover.
On my previous non-official driver I had the option to Enable 3D Vision Discover which seemed to set itself up correctly but it wouldn't work in game.

Same problem here, can only enable 3D Vision when conected via VGA to my Samsung TV. Then I can choose which mode (3d vision / Discover). There should be a program to only starts the Discover. If you disable the TV, you are still able to use Discover till you disable it. To turn on again, connect again to a TV.
I played Flight Simulator X, with both my Samsung and with the Vostro 1310 LCD in Discover mode. I'm still without my 3d glasses, but it appears to be working properly.
