Thief 3 Deadly shadows in 3d game tweaks to make it work better
  2 / 2
Could you please provide a link for said second patch. I've played through the training without any issues, apart from some crackling sound during the briefing and pop-up screens, which I guess is the result from using velbac (through asio) to send my eax-enabled audio from my audigy to my receiver through the hdmi.
I have yet to try your depth fixes for the hud, which will be useful for weapons switching and lockpicking, as I have the lightgem and holder, and the compass disabled. I tried commenting a couple of lines to disable the healthbar but this led to a crash. It's also quite irritating getting on the desktop on every game load, but I guess this can't be fixed.
The only thing left is to try and set up the game for a ps3 controller, which I doubt will be possible since there are so many buttons ( I got used to playing skyrim with one plus a mod for more hotkeys and it's quite nice, given I'm playing in front of the tv). I've read that there is a Pinnacle profile, but I prefer xpadder.

Thanks, but if you've read my initial post you'll see that I've used both patches, as the readme for the widescreen patch (the second one) specifically states that the fov patch should be applied beforehand. Thanks for the link though, people who intend on playing should definitely install these patches.

Im confused, but anyway, I applied the "crash fix" after the second one and it seemed to work.

Yes, the crash fix works fine, I had previously only applied the resolution fix, since I wanted to run in 720p, both fixes are part of the same patch, the widescreen patch. The fov patch (first patch available) was initially released only to change the fov, but didn't allow for widescreen resolutions without a crash ( for example you could run 1024x768 (a 4:3 res) at a 16:9 fov, therefore avoiding the stretching effect, which is normal in this situation. Currently I think that running the fov fix before the widescreen one allow for the hud to appear normally in widescreen instead of stretched.
