Try this for 3D on your 1080P Projector.
Awhile back, I was able to get 1080P@60 Field Sequential working on my projector. It's an Acer H6510BD. The max resolution that I can get in 2D is 1920x1080@75Hz, which has a pixel clock of 174.56. So I suspect that the driver is supplying me with 30 per eye and the projector is simply repeating the images, just like it does with a 24Hz movie when played in 3D. It works well, looks great and gameplay is fluid. I haven't refined this or looked into it very much, because my H6510BD was put away because of painting/remodeling. Anyhow, using the EDID from my 39 inch Seiki 4K@30 TV (which is supposedly confirmed capable of 1920x1080@120Hz by people doing the UFO test from BlurBusters), I was able to get Generic CRT mode to work. This requires a 3D Vision emitter to get 3D to kick in, but the Nvidia glasses will not sync. You'll need to use DLP Link glasses and set your projector to Field Sequential. NOTE/DISCLAIMER: this EDID is 4K, if you set the resolution to 3840x2160, chances are you'll get blank/black screen saying that the resolution being input is not supported. If you are going to try this, it is recommended that you have a second display to reset the resolution of the projector if needed. Use this at your own risk. Will this work on your BenQ, Optoma, ViewSonic, etc..., no idea, but it works on my Acer. Of course, simply delete the .jpg from the attached file to turn it into a inf file to use for an EDID override.

As mentioned, I haven't played around with this. I'm sure that there is probably a better EDID to use. I'm using a HDMI connection out of a GTX 980ti. I don't think that HDMI 2.0 bandwidth is required, as I believe only 60 frames are being sent, but I could be mistaken. If I am mistaken, the Club 3D adapter that I listed a few days ago should work via a DP 1.2 port output. Edit:BTW this was done on 362.00, I have not tried it on any other drivers. Edit#2: the adapter mentioned above should work on some pre GTX 9XX GPUs provided the pixel clock limitation allows the bandwidth. If not, the pixel clock patch from ToastyX might work.

It was brought to my attention that the EDID above shows 3DTV Play. Even though it is a 2D Display, for some unknown reason, it has 3D data blocks in the EDID. The reason this EDID showed Generic CRT to me was because I was using the Club 3D adapter that I have. My apologies. Check the 3D Vision Blog forums, you can probably find an EDID there that will enable Generic CRT. Perhaps try the S27A950D from a Samsung 3D monitor, people used to use it with Generic CRT prior to Nvidia removing Generic CRT from the drivers. I tried this just now in a few games. It's a step above 3DTV Play's 24Hz limitation, but not much. Too much motion blur from the low frame rate being sent to the projector. However, the controls are fluid and responsive. So this could be usable for certain games, but overall isn't that great.

Even if the results are not outstanding it could be possible for some to reach 70-80hz, 35-40 fps/eye in full HD which could be quite ok with some games. Unfortunatelly frame sequential is not avalable for my benq. It is only available close to 120hz.

Hmm, I didn't try that. I recall that years ago, I could get 96Hz working, but in order to do so, I had to make a second resolution of 48Hz. It seemed that the driver needed to recognize that the display was capable of the frame rate halved. So might try 74Hz/37Hz.

Awesome, that worked. I had to set my desktop to 37Hz. But now it shows 74Hz@1080P in the test window. This will make it viable for more games. On my H6510BD, it has an Auto detect 3D setting. I changed this to Field Sequential, prior to enabling 3D.

I tried this but ingame I get 1fps or so. Which games have you tried? Did you select progressive or interlaced for the custom resolution? To get 3D Vision in NV Control Panel i had to use the Acer HN274H B edid override for the projector from http://3dvision-blog.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=2025 because I don't have an emitter, only the first version of the Acer HN274H with built-in emitter. With S27A950D edid override I only get 3D Vision Discover. I think Windows 7 doesn't like what i do. After selecting 3D Vision in NV Control Panel I had to set the Windows Design to Windows 7 Basic because otherwise the screen went black and I could only see and move the mouse cursor as soon as I changed something in NV Control Panel.

I haven't refined this at all, I just shared my results so that others could mess around with it. If you see Discover, try running the setup wizard. On my LG PJ, I would get discover until I actually ran the setup and changed it. Always when doing custom resolutions, make sure that the color is set to 32 bit, sometimes it bugs and selects 16 bit, which will not work for 3D except in older games. When I was trying it the other night, it was in Jurassic Park: The Game. I also gave it a quick try in WoW and had no problems. I'll mess with this more after the first of the year when I get my gaming room back and can properly setup my projector. For testing the other night I had it sitting on top of a ladder, which is not very ideal, especially since I can not find the remote which is packed away with everything else while I do my projects. You might try figuring out a way to use the batch file that TsaebehT posted a few days ago to change the viewer type for Optimized from Passive to Active.
