Hello, sorry for my English.
I am a happy owner of 3DVision, I would understand
some things about vr. and surround. I'm undecided whether to switch to surround 3DVision or await the vr.
The vr is 3d? that you see in 3d? as you can see a film in 3D as with 3DVision?
A game type Elite or even battlefield 3 or xreunion series are also in 3d with vr?
3d surround the film is on 3 screens, or only one?
Thank

VR is stereoscopic 3D yes, there are apps to watch movies, and the effect is similar to watching it on a big screen. Only a few big titles are available in VR, you can probably find a supported game list for Oculus if you google.. No idea what 3D surround is though, i guess it's 3D vision with 3 screens, must be extremely demanding though.
I've tried Oculus Rift but for now i prefer 3D Vision projected on a big wall... 3D vision has better support, in the end that is what matters the most imo.. if you can only get one i would say 3D vision and a projector.. if you have to decide between 3D vision on a monitor and VR i would choose VR (vive or oculus rift)

3D Surround > VR for games (expect probably games MADE ESPECIALLY for VR which are very few).
You can play a lot of fixed games in 3D Surround. You can also view the 21:9 Movies in Surround on "3 Screens" (Mostly the center one and some part on the second screens if you remove the black bars on top and sides).
3D Surround is for gaming not watching movies though;)
Also, BE prepared to have some TOP of the LINE GPUs there.

3D Vision Surround requires that you have 3 identical monitors.
Also keep in mind that if your displays do not have Display Port, you will need to purchase an active adapter for about $100.
Look guys, if he is asking this question, I think he is not a good candidate to use 3D Vision Surround.
Dont get me wrong but there is a lot of tweak that needs to be done to get games to work with 3D vision and knowledge you must sort of have. I would say just get a VR headset that will have supported games and easy to use.
3D Vision Surround is basically 3 monitors in 3D, so if you have seen 3D games before just imagine it in 3 monitors instead of one (I dont think you can see films/movies in 3 monitors, makes no sense)
VR is also in 3D and the movement of your head will move the camera, so you will feel like you are inside the game basically.

Clearly, you never used 3D SUrround ^_^ I have both 3D Surround and tried VR on numerous occasions for long periods of time. VR LACKS resolution (AKA detail) and Games currently!
3D Surround (while it requires specific hardware - 3x3D Vision Ready monitor and some adapters) offers the BEST results for all the games in 3D out there. Just look at the HelixMod and how many games we have fixed in 3D Vision (and SURROUND). How many of them work PROPERLY in VR? NONE.
The only VR I can recommend is SONY VR due to the GAMES and the content they are PROVIDING. ;)
If 3D Surround is too complicated, then PC gaming is too complicated. It has a learning curve sure, but in a few days you learn all there is to it;) And the results are spectacular:)

I agree. I think stereoscopic 3D in 1080p is still better than current VR in terms of image quality and 3D experience. 3D Vision Surround would be even better, it is the best you can get from 3D.
But, we don't know how long there will be support for it as we know the big thing now is VR, and if I had some money to spend these days and had to choose, I would definitely go with the flow and get a VR headset as it seems the future is brighter and it also sort of give you a different experience than adding two more monitors to your setup, as I already have 3D Vision and can use it when I want I would prefer another option/experience with VR.
BTW, I would go somewhere to test a VR headset first, with the PlayStation VR available now I am sure there will be lots of opportunities to test.

what I understand is: if vr as well as having a 360 is also stereoscopic 3D as 3DVision.
defects: feeling of low resolution with the same power of GPU 3DVision.
now I should change graphics card (gtx970) or fit the same type as in SLI and buy another 2 monitor (asus vg278) to have 3DVision Surround.
ability to play older games with Vorpx driver
with vr in 3d and see the film in 3D.

for me its 50/50 , I have rift, vive and 3d vision. VR is just getting better and better with software and games. 'Onward' on the vive is incredible. Overall the resolution isn't great but its good enough imo if you have the gpu power to supersample the games. I am mostly playing simulators like assetto corsa and DCS world.

I've read nothing but bad about it, problems with tracking (drifting etc) + the tracking in itself is far inferior to something like Vive or Oculus, the controllers have more lag. Resolution is obviously worse and you see more black on the sides etc (immersion breaking). As for games, i dunno, resident evil might be cool, but its "only" exlusive to sony vr for 1 year, it will be 10x better on a PC with Oculus in terms of graphics, controlls, tracking..

One GPU + 3 VG278H = 2 active adapters needed approx $200 additional
SLI = one adapter needed
3dvision surround easily at this point.
Or get 3 monitors with display port then you don't need any adapters.
Keeping in mind if you want to run 3dvision surround with anything close to a reasonably decent resolution or settings (keeping in mind limitations of not running native resolution on a LCD monitor.)
Then you need SLI .. no question and even then you will be pushing it a bit.
I have nvidia surround on 3 1440p monitors, and have to admit to still spending most of my gaming on a single screen because of this. It's great for older games though....

It seems you never personally tested it! Owning every available VR headset I have to admit that currently I am most impressed by Playstation VR. While the resolution is lower than Rift and Vive the screen-door effect is greatly reduced (due to the use of an OLED-RGB screen which has more sub-pixels than Rift and Vive). So in fact - and nearly every major review across the net confirms this - while you have lower resolution on paper the overall visual quality is definitely not inferior. Currently I like the overall visual quality of Playstation VR the most (yes I am already using the highest possible super-sampling for Rift and Vive). Since visual benefits already have been confirmed for most of the Playstation VR games when Playstation 4 Pro is coming out in roughly 2 weeks things will even get better :-)
FOV is basically the same for all three headsets (with only marginal differences).
Yes Playstation Move tracking is definitely inferior to the magnificent Vive tracking system and also to the Rift's tracking but it is in no way bad. Having in mind that the Move-tech is 6 years old now I am quite surprised how good it is holding up in every game/demo that I tested so far. It's definitely working quite beautiful.

I actually switched my 3X27" 3D Vision Surround Setup with a single LG 65" 4K OLED screen (using the EDID override that enables 4K 3D Vision on your 4K TV) as I think this is the best possible way to enjoy 3D Vision. While 3D Vision Surround has this huge horizontal FOV the vertical FOV always stays the same. So scale-wise nothing really changes with a 3D Vision Surround setup. All those huge monsters and characters still have the same small size as when playing on a single 24/27" monitor.
Since you are also asking for VR it seems you are also interested in the "immersion"-aspect of gaming and the feeling to get sucked into the game.
A huge 55/65"-screen displaying 3D Vision in 4K kind of gives you the best of both worlds since you will enjoy the highest possible visual 3D quality and due to the huge display-size that is occupying your entire field-of-view (not only in length but also in height) you will also maximize the immersion aspect of any given game.

Yupp and I would make a Surround of 3 TVs like that if only they would be certified by 3D Vision;) Don't get me wrong I am happy that you are using one but I have zero trust in EDID overrides. (As we've seen it here sometimes it doesn't work and so on).
I still like my Surround Setup and play all games on it;) I tried a 60' 3D TV with 3DTVplay and resolution aside, I MISSED THE LACK of Horizontal FOV;) That is why I love Surround for the EXTRA side view;) Not feeling like a DAMN horse with glasses that can only see straight;) )
VR is changing this one! But until I see VR with crips clear image and resolution of what 3D Vision has to offer I will keep on waiting and using my Surround Setup ^_^

Thank

I've tried Oculus Rift but for now i prefer 3D Vision projected on a big wall... 3D vision has better support, in the end that is what matters the most imo.. if you can only get one i would say 3D vision and a projector.. if you have to decide between 3D vision on a monitor and VR i would choose VR (vive or oculus rift)

Also keep in mind that if your displays do not have Display Port, you will need to purchase an active adapter for about $100.

BTW, I would go somewhere to test a VR headset first, with the PlayStation VR available now I am sure there will be lots of opportunities to test.

defects: feeling of low resolution with the same power of GPU 3DVision.
now I should change graphics card (gtx970) or fit the same type as in SLI and buy another 2 monitor (asus vg278) to have 3DVision Surround.

with vr in 3d and see the film in 3D.

SLI = one adapter needed
