what´s wrong when you can´t save convergence during game ?
Im trying to game half life 2 with cinematic mod. im having strange problems. my system keeps throwing me to desktop randomly but quite often. like atleast after 10 to 15 minutes gaming. the game is running. alt tab back. i set my convergence and hit save the convergence reverts back to default.

Is there a nVidia Profile for the game and not a generic one?? I have had this happen and when the game did not have an official profile this would happen..

Check if there is a profile or not in Nvidia Inspector. And if there is one, make sure "StereoProfile" is set to "Yes". That's the setting that lets you save convergence. It's something that can be easily set in 3Dmigoto for DX11 games, but for DX9 games you have to do it manually.

Also as far as I know the flag "Stereo Profile" must be set to "On" in the individual driver profile in order to save convergence setting. There are many different driver profiles for Half-Life 2: "Half-Life 2" "Half-Life 2: Lost Coast" "Half-Life 2: Episode One" ... some more... When looking into them via Nvidia Profile Inspector not every profile has "Stereo Profile" set. Maybe that's the reason? Edit: masterotaku was faster with his reply :)

Try Prototype 2 profile. It fixed everything for me. Played about 3 hours last week. Still very sentimental about this game. Make sure all exe's you could find for HL2 are linked. Not necessarily the mod alone. I see there's another mod being worked on for HL1. Just the train ride to be seen and it looks stunning so far. Would make a great VR experience if they could pull it off. Loved this comment "Because one Black Mesa is NOT ENOUGH" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5ejNGN66Xq8
