andrew, 3D profile availability? a better way
Andrew,

Currently Nvidia creates 3D profiles per game, but does not make them available until the next driver update release. This methodology, emedding profiles in driver updates, results in unnecessary game playing delay.
Crysis2 will be in stores next month, but we'll be forced to wait another 1-3 months to play the game. TriDef releases their profiles immediately, so it's obviously possible.
PLease make 3D profiles available as soon as they are created, independent of driver updates.

Great post Roller11, This sounds like a very sensible idea, not necessarily to have profile on release but soon after.

Even if the profiles are just beta's that are available as individual downloads - with the next driver having all the profiles built in.
Like 'roller11' says it means a end to the monthly delays in getting a profile, especially as the profile may well have actually be done & finished by nvidia way before the next driver release.

AMD has their sli profiles in a seaprate file from the drivers. My buddy uses crossfire and says that he can just download profiles without updating drivers. I agree that Nvidia can most likely accomplish this without much effort. It would be nice not to update drivers so often just for 3d profiles, and just download profiles separately. I was blown away that AMD can already do that, and Nvidia, with all the bells and whistles, hasn't adopted it.

Dead Space 2 has no 3D Vision profile yet and I've seen the updates for the new WHQL driver 266.77 and still no profile for this game. What a bummer....

Good idea, but it necessarily implies that two donkeys exist working, not only one. I believe that enclosed it would be too much work for two.

Tridef patches like once every 3 months. Im so confused. http://tridef.com/download/TriDef-3D-4.4.html 12-23 was last time they updated software. What they do have is user made profiles. http://www.ddd.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=9&sid=071539766cc6656e6c4466d69c43b2ea
That said it would be nice if we had more options so we didn't have rely on nvidia so much so we can find our own solutions. Custom profiles.

With TriDef, you can D/L profiles when you launch a game.

As an example, Medal of Honor went on sale on Oct. 12,2010. On Jan.4, 2011, nvidia released the 3D profile, no doubt the profile was ready long before that. So when Crysis2 goes on sale on Mar.29, we'll have to sit twiddling our thumbs until about May 20, then we'll get to play it. Or, Nvidia can do what TriDef does, release the profile as soon as it's ready.

Profiles delayed are profiles denied.
