This 3d vision and 3d play TV thing is very confusing, I have been looking in nividia website for days about info, but his is really not helpful.
I have an nivida Geforce GT 220 graphics card, and 3D plasma TV (LG 42pw350)with its own wireless shutter glasses and I can play 3d movies normally through HDMI. What do I need to play 3D Stereoscopic games on my plasma TV with its glasses without the need to buy these nvidia glasses or the IR?
I read somewhere that the problem in 3D TVs that they dont have DVI interface, so does that means that a normal HDMI-HDMI cable won't work? If so, is the DVI-to-HDMI converter will make the HDMI-HDMI cable works?
All what I was able to find is that this GT 200 does really support 3d vision (and that's when you read the specs of the card, but if you search in the HW supported by 3d vision, you will NOT find it!!) /verymad.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':verymad:' />

I installed the last driver SW for the gt220, then the "stereoscopic" section in nividia control pannel appeared, so I believe that the card supports 3d, but what I dont know is the TV side.
another problem is that when I checked the box of "enable stereoscopic", the wizard started with 4 options, I believe that no one of them indicates that the TV is detected as a 3d display.

First of all, your GT220 is probably much too weak to play any game in 3D.
But in theory you just have to buy the 3DTV software license to be able to play in 3D on your TV.

for playing 2D games, this card is more than enough ( ACbrotherhood, fifa 12, NFS shift 2 are great), but I have no idea abut its performance for 3d gaming, so what do you mean by the 3DTV software license, do you mean this thing called "nividia 3DTV play"??

I forgot to mention that this "3d stereoscopic" section in nvidia control panel disappears when I connect only my 3D TV to the PC, it disappears also even when I make clone display and make 3DTV as a primary display.
This section does only appear either when I connect th PC to only my normal 17" CRT PC display via normal VGA connector, or when I make clone display and run the CRT as the primary display, so it seems that there is something wrong with the plasma (I suggest that wither it's not supported, or the problem is in the connector, i.e HDMI cable version or the interface itself)

Stereoskopic 3D will cut the framerates in half for almost every game (Crysis 2 being the exception to that rule).
nVidia 3DTV play is the license I was talking about. It will allow you to enable S3D to be used on a HDMI 1.4a compatible 3D TV.

is this good or bad? :D
and how do I know if my 3D TV supports 1.4 a or not?

excuse me but I bought my TV just a couple of months ago, so I'm not that 3D geek :D

Well, ist means that you'll get only have the performance in 3D than in 2D, because your system has to calculate twice as many pictures.

Actually your likely going to need two or three things:
1. While your card and driver may be '3d ready', to enable "3d vision" without purchasing a "3d vision kit" (glasses and emitter), you'll need to purchase a "3dplay" license and do a quick install of a program which takes the "key" (much like a windows key) as input and unlocks 3d vision.
2. Your TV has to be ether on the 'officially supported list' or you may be out of luck.
3. There is a work-a-round for TV's that are not on the list, "http://blog.bagearon.com/?p=38""
4. As other have mentioned, 3D will suck the performance out of even the best hardware. Expect to get less than 1/2 the frame rate you were getting before.

I downloaded the 14 days trial version of 3DTV play, connected my 24pw350, installed it, and WAAM. the S3D worked just like that, without the need of the attached file in the workaround (although my TV is not in the nvidia supported list, I contacted nvidia a couple of weeks ago, and they said they will check my EDID file and see if it should be supported or not).
I tried "AC Brotherhood" in S3D and it was great, you are right guys, the frame rate are slightly lower, but the game is playable though, you can notice its slowness when there are a lot of textures in the scene.
I will try with other-not-so-heavy games to have better frame rate to see if it's worthy the 40$ or not :D
I believe there are many 3DTVs that are already supported for 3DTV play, but they are not mentioned in nvidia supported list, so I advice everyone to download they trial version, and test it with your own 3dTV, once connected, you can go for the full license, good luck everyone and thx allllllllllll.
