  3 / 3
1) Yes. That is normal lifespan for a projector bulb
2) It is more of a preference thing. If you have a nice room with controlled lighting, econo mode will extend the life of your bulb
3) If you mean placing filters at the front of your projector, it will simply affect image quality

Thanks a ton. Is a new bulb expensive? I could of sworn i heard someone here say something like, "Ya at the point when you need to swap out your bulb you just get a new projector cause they cost so much". If im at 250 hours after 1 month....that means after 12 months i'd hit 3,000 hours.

Can you "ballpark" me on what it costs to replace the bulb? Is it simple enough to do myself?

Thanks again

I can't comment for every projector out there but you are looking at around $300 for a new bulb. If you purchase a quality projector, it is still going to be quite a bit cheaper to replace the bulb than it would be to replace the whole projector after the bulb has expired. 250 hours a month is a lot of time. That is basically about 8.3 hours a day, more than the average user watches per day. Even for a family household, the fact that you will need to keep the room the projector is installed in somewhat dark means that you may not always choose the projector as your first choice for viewing tv/movies, especially during daytime.
