3D Vision Surround in VR, how amazing it would be?!?!?!
Does anybody know if the passive monitor Acer HR274H supports 3D Vision Surround?
I wonder if it would be possible to do 3D Surround in VR (bigscreen app) using dummy display port EDID emulators like the one in the link below with the Acer HR274H EDID or another EDIDs...
I will buy these emulators just to try to get at least one screen working in 3D in VR with the Acer HR274H EDID, but It would be amazing if we could get 3D surround in VR!
I just cannot believe how stupid NVidia can be as nobody there seems to be taking advantage of all the years of work done on 3D Vision to resuscitate it in VR! I dont think there is any limitations to get 3 virtual screens in VR for a cheap 3D surround! The 3D Vision games would look amazing on 3 virtual screens in VR!!!

I wouldn't be so sure about that!
You are still limited to the Rift's/Vive's native resolution! Now divide this resolution by three and you have the pixels you get per "virtual screen". But the bad news even doesn't end here. Because of the huge scale you have in VR those already lesser pixels even appear way bigger than they would if just looking at a 27"-screen.
So even if it would work you would get a way bigger picture with abysmal visual quality.

I've done this test on bigscreen VR app with Rise of the Tomb Raider in 3D and some other 3D Vision games and it is not that bad! The resolution is not as good as the TV, obviously. But it is not that bad! I would say that if we had 3 virtual screens in 3D surround in VR I would much prefer that over the TV, even considering the current resolution of the Rift.
This would be just perfect once we have something like the Pimax 8K!

I am very interested in your findings Johnnie so keep us informed. I am currently waiting for my Samsung Odyssey VR headset (had to order via US as it is not available here in Europe). So far reviews are pretty stellar especially because of the Odyssey's significant higher resolution compared to Rift/Vive (and I am even satisfied with those).
The Odyssey's per eye resolution is even higher than Full HD (1440x1600)!
As of know Windows Mixed reality is compatible with the Oculus games via Revive, compatible with Vive games via SteamVR and of course compatible with the Windows Store. Since the tracking also seems to be very reliable there seems to be no reason left for me to keep my Rift and my Vive.
So in case the Samsung Odyssey performs as I expect it to do I will sell the Rift and the Vive soon. The money I'll get for those will be put to good use...Pimax 8K is just around the corner ;-) (and it could be a big win this time).
But first I got to see for myself if the Odyssey really renders Rift and Vive obsolete.......
