I totally agree that this discussion is way off topic. That being said, I really want to get one along with the HTC Vive to replace my ROG Swift that has pixel inversion and crosstalk.

+1 agree Ronrebell. We are talking about 3D Vision. If you want to discuss about different 2D monitors thats ok, but please do that in a monitor forum. Al lot of people are drinking coffee beside playing computer games, right? Should we also talk about coffee machines in this forum? I don´t think so ... and as you know ... 2D vs 3D Vision is like cheap cold coffee to go from an discounter vs. royal fine ground coffee directly from plantage beans. Just my two cents and also vote for close.

I think the discussion in this kind of trheads is 3D vs 2D, and entusiasts of 3D do not want to read about this confrontation, specially in the present. This is an "off topic" in the sense that it is not a 3D monitor what we are talking about, but it is not an off topic in the sense that many 3D people (me one of them) want to know about a good alternative if 3D is not possible because of the lack of support, and specially talking about comparison with 3D solutions. I am these days waiting for a monitor to buy, and I wish there were the perfect 3D monitor to buy, but I have to choose either to buy a 3D monitor without the last advances or buy other 2D thing..., and I consider this argument totally IN topic for this kind of forum. 3D vs 2D nowdays... where to debate better than in this forum?

Why on earth are people suddenly crawling out of the woodwork to close threads? Specially on a thread where active 3D vision users are looking for alternative dedicated 2D screens for games that we can't play on our 3D Vision monitors because those games don't support 3D (but we would really prefer that they would). It makes me laugh even more that it took years to even get the devs to sticky threads, and here we have people asking for wasted moderator time to shut down relevant conversation, and exaggerating the situation (coffee) to support this.
+1 agree Ronrebell. I do not see a problem with the thread, except there were already 2 threads on this same monitor. The discussion could have been continued in either of those. https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/805982/ https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/806057/

I think the only real objection here is that there are literally millions of possible threads and forums about 2D monitors, and this is the ONLY place where we actually have substantial conversations about 3D. So, by dumping a bunch of irrelevant information in here, you are being selfish by making a bunch of people like me who could not care less about 2D monitors, read or skip them- so that you don't have to go to another forum. Is there ANY connection to 3D Vision that I'm missing? If it has no possibility of being used in 3D, then why is it here? If there is some potential for trickery or hacks, then yes, by all means. I don't think there is any need to close threads, but I do wish that we would not contaminate this forum with irrelevant stuff. Please?

A lot of us here are display enthusiasts, we all probably share some other similar interests other than purely 3D Vision, and it's natural that every now and again other tech is going to be discussed. Specially in light of us being forced to play some games in 2D for reasons we are all very aware of. Maybe its time we lobbied for an Off-Topic subforum if people are getting this concerned about a single monitor thread?

From NVidia's site it's suggesting you turn it on for each individual game by hitting "Optimize" in GeForce Experience, but I've never seen it come up as an optimal setting. Is there something about my system (see below) that makes it unusable? I've been playing in 2560x1440, do I need to change that? If there is supposed to be some master "turn DSR on" switch in Geforce Experience, I'm not seeing it. And none of my games seem to support higher than 2560x1440p resolution, not even Witcher 3, which seems very odd.

In the Global Settings list, it goes straight from "CUDA - GPUs" to "Maximum pre-rendered frames". EDIT: Just figured it out. Had to disable SLI, then the options appeared. Any suggestions on what settings I should give it for an ROG Swift 2560x1440p native? EDIT 2: Bleah. Tried it in Witcher 3 and it totally borks even the compatibility mode 3D.

I still think we could use an offtopic thread to stop this sort of thing happening again, because for some reason people seem to be kinda jumping off at the deep end. If the forum had a problem with regular offtopic stuff not related to display devices at all then yeah, close all the threads and ask the regular offenders to be more mindful, but we are talking about a single thread here about a monitor some of us are interested in for the games we can't play in 3D. Whatever happens next is up to the mods.

Great modders like bo3b devote onself to get this 3D Vision technology running day by day, pay respect and also ontoppic.

Follow bo3bs links above and stop defending offtopic discussions.

Over and out and vote for close again :-/

Thanks for advising me how to behave, but I think I'll stick with my own opinions for now if you don't mind too much :-)

I respect Bo3b and I'm thankful for his dedication (and thankyou Bo3b for the useful links), I just think he was being a bit dramatic about the situation, and I don't agree with the opinion that this particular thread needs to be closed, or that it particularly undermines the goals of the forum or discounts the work and effort by members like Bo3b.
