Hey guys, just thought I'd ask you a quick question. I'm kind of baffled by this.
When I run Heaven 2.1, I get >60 FPS average in 2D mode. Whenever I set it to 3D Vision, I drop to 12 FPS. 30 I'd have expected, but 12 really seems too much of a hit. I also noticed the program took up 1 full core on my PC and left the other 3 empty, and it's probably this CPU bottleneck that causes the low FPS, as my GPU's are both at 50% load. When it runs in 2D however, load seems to be distrubited evenly among 2 cores, and GPU load is over 95%. So is it normal for 3D to change CPU load like this? I don't see it in any other applications...And is there any way to fix this and get higher FPS? I run Heaven at the standard settings, 1920*1080.

well considering that the 460's only have 1gb of Vram, they will run out of it very quickly when 3d is enabled at a resolution such as 1920x1080. which is most likely why you get those numbers. dont expect miracles out of the 460's. they are awesome bang for your buck cards but they still ahve their limits especially in 3d at high resolutions. also if you want to try and address that CPU issue, you can go into the nvidia control panel and set the threaded optimization to "ON" this will enable applications to utilize multiple cores IF the application itself utilizes multiple cores.

Since when is 2gb of ram on videocard not enough lol? Though to be honest when useing 3d vision expect >50% drop of fps. If you run at 60 fps without 3dvision expect 20-25fps range on average.

I have 1GB per graphics card. And thanks for the threaded optimization tip. Can you tell me where exactly I can find this feature?
Oh, btw, don't hurry. My mobo blew up this morning. Within warranty, luckily, so I'll get my money back and buy a new one. Guess I finally have an excuse to upgrade to DDR3!
