I searched the forum before I went and got the second monitor and the mirror today.
A couple of things if you are looking into this.
1. Forget worrying about the edge of the mirror. It doesn't cut your view in half. You arent looking at that bit.
2. It DOES matter what mirror you get. I bought one that reflects a slight double image. I'll be looking for a good one asap.
3. Keeping your head there takes some getting used to.
4. To me - (after one night) - it doesn't seem that you need identical monitors. I don't really think it is necessary that they be flatscreen either. Anyone with more experience please set me straight if I am wrong.
5. I used a small vice set on some bricks to situate my mirror. Make sure you don't clamp it too tight or it will break.
irst Impressions of the mirror method were - excellent. Being a complete n00b to 3D gaming, take my opinion with a grain of salt but ... EXPLETIVE EXPLETIVE AWESOME EXPLETIVING FUN!
While the images don't come out of the monitor at you - (with GR, Raven Shield, Americas Army, ) there is something about the quality of the image that gets you. Then you will find yourelf doing things you wouldn't normally bother to do in 2D like stopping to read a sign and then stepping out of the sunlight because you can't read it.
Rets and text in game don't come up well for me. I end up having two rets and having to aim at a midpoint. I played AA tonight and did almost as well as I usually do. Killin in stereoscopic is a blast. I had no framerate dramas.
Sometimes you pay $700 to get the next step. sometimes you pay $50. This will brin new life into my gaming. Well worth a trip to the comp store and harware supplier.
If any of you regulars know the solutions to my 3D problems please post them or link me to good resources. Hope this post helped.
