Yeah i know, i do enjoy Valve games and pc is the automatic choice of platform for Valve, I was more refering to the no controller support in mass effect 2, Bioshock 2, FEAR 2 and the Call of Dutys, plus the trend of lack of anti aliasing in a lot for games just now, you only have to look at how beautiful capcoms Framework engine looks with full antialiasing and superb performance and optimisation.
I know there is pinnacle gamer profile which i use and its a fantastic programe for setting up controllers, but i hate not having anologue movement, being able to creep rather than run at a certain pace all the time, for me it looks less cinematic and kills immersion a touch, not to the point of being unplayable, but hey we have pc's with lots of perhiperals, give us the choice.
I am very skilled with a controller, dont mind using mouse at all, but for comfort when using my projector or plasma, i would like as i am sure many others would, the option to control the game as i see fit.
Alan Wake has been confirmed as being cancelled for the pc by remedy yesterday as well. :(

See I am very not skilled with a controller but extremely skilled with keyboard mouse ... I HATE controllers for most games. It's okay for rpgs and action games like devil may cry and whatnot for me ... shooters just turn into pure frustration as I can't do with a controller what I can with a mouse. To each his own.
I had heard months ago Alan Wake was not going to be on PC ... which is a real bummer :(

I'm also quite skilled with a controller and it would be really nice if the option was at least there. Using a keyboard and mouse on the couch is way less convenient.

Yeah I can imagine lol. I thought about how I would set my room up if I ever got a projector as I wont need to sit at a desk ... I have yet to come up with a solution. They really ought to support controllers though on PC ... even though I never use them one of the beauties of PC Gaming used to be how much you could customize your experience. Now you have developers going as far as to cut out modding to their games and whatnot like Infinitysuck. BTW Bioshock 2s multiplayer is ghastly. Rediculous. You could run out blast someone and then teleport back to where you came if you timed it all right and effectively be an unkillable phatom lol

Let controllers stay on consoles for FPS. For anything else it's fine on a PC. I am tired of seeing game developers trying to accommodate controllers in FPS by decreasing how accurate you need to be as compared to a keyboard and mouse scenario. I have a PS3 so I know what it's like to play FPSs with a controller compared to a mouse on a Keyboard.
no one can deny they have to handicap the game when adding controller support for FPS. FPS games should be about accuracy and at the moment the mouse is still more accurate than controllers.

I am sooooo with you on that. For me its a real killer to 'lurch' your character around. FULL TIT !!....STOP. FULL TIT !!........STOP.
When you are an ultimate immersion fan like me (3DV,7.1 Surround, Monitor upgrade pending, beautiful chair and desk), its just annoying to have basics like character control and SMOOTH gliding movements not up to play with last generation CONSOLES.......... dag'namit !! (rant)
Anyways, its much easier for your eyes to 'track' the movement on screen when the movements are smooth. This means of course, that you can increase your depth more.. (if you havnt already maxed it ;)

Good point you make, however in my case, i simply love gamepads because of the analog movement, to be able to walk, job, run, with one movement.
There needs to be a properly thought out left had control system for pc. With analog movement. NOT touch sensitive keys.... Why has this not been done after almost a decade of console thumbsticks....
There is the logitech g13 im aware, but pc games simply arent programmed to make use of any analog movement. Stupid.

Bologna... just disable aim assist and it is suitable for kb/m gameplay.
Gamepads are great for PC games, so long as you don't suck with them. Bioshock is already set up for gamepad gameplay since it came out on the 360, so omitting controller support is asinine.
You don't have to have the same preference in order to understand that it is a good thing to have choices, even if it isn't a choice you would personally make.
A lot of people would like controller support, myself included, surely you aren't so self centered as to believe we should all suck an egg just because it isn't your preference. Or maybe you are, I have no idea what kind of person you are. However, I enjoy having choice as I am able to customize the experience to suit the game and circumstance. Perhaps you don't play on an HDTV with your spouse cuddled up, but I do, and a gamepad is just more convenient for that. Not to mention the analogue controls, force feedback and simple layout as compared to the kb/m layout.

Yes the analog motion that most game pads offer is definitely a plus. Maybe a game pad with an analog stick for movement and a mouse like device for aiming would be nice. similar to a joystick + mouse setup.

Agree completely!
Just give us the option to control the game using smooth analog movement ect.
The analog control in BIOSHOCK1 made for a very cinematic creeping experience. This will be missed in Bioshock2.
You can use pinnacle game profiler which gives smooth analog control of viewdirection but not viewpoint motion (Although it does have a nice mouse smoothing feature).

See I am very not skilled with a controller but extremely skilled with keyboard mouse ... I HATE controllers for most games. I'm also quite skilled with a controller and it would be really nice if the option was at least there. Using a keyboard and mouse on the couch is way less convenient.
I haven't been excited for Alan Wake since 2006.

Matchmaking system like MW2 and I have yet to play a game of it where I wasnt lagged so bad I would rubber band so far at times it seemed like I was teleporting to RANDOM spots on the map. Rediculous. You could run out blast someone and then teleport back to where you came if you timed it all right and effectively be an unkillable phatom lol

no one can deny they have to handicap the game when adding controller support for FPS. FPS games should be about accuracy and at the moment the mouse is still more accurate than controllers.

Not sure i can bring myself to believe that...
If this thread is the worlds total amount of complainents, there is either 1) many 3d bioshock 2 owners who DON'T post here...or 2) There are many 3d Bioshock 2 owners who are having no issues at all.
I'm with number 1's option....

I have thought about this too actually, I figured that you could get one of those 'bean bag lap table type things'....
You can buy them, they are usually for sitting your dinner on etc. Its basically a table the size of your lap or decent mousepad, with a flattish sack of beans attached to the underside....
