I don't need SLI, but I need drivers that work with Windows XP x64 editions. Wanna join forces?

i know not alot of nvidia users have discovered the joys of "stereo" gaming yet so i do appreciate all the effort the nvidia guys make to keep this technology alive but more frequent driver releases would be a greatly recieved :)

I need stereo drivers for x64

NOW!

My 7800gt will be here in a few days.

Also it would be cool if Nvidia made the stereo drivers optimised for sli,
like each card rendering each eye.

Also I want there to be a mode for cross-eyed viewing of games and stuff. That would be cool.

I don't think this is getting us anywhere. I think that it was a tactical decision to "make" this stereo forum, which would work in their favour. Basically, now they can group all us stereo gamers into this little place, where noone looks or pays any attention to, and they don't get any impact on PR.

They can just continue to ignore us for as long as they like.

Perhaps a more productive strategy would be to post the "driver request" threads in the MAIN forum area, where people would take notice instantly, and ofcourse the added bonus would be that Stereo 3D would gain a much bigger spotlight. At the moment, the only impression that we seem to be giving is that we are all some sort of finatics obsessed with soundforce drivers in stereo mode.

I also think that it would be VERY benificial if we change the name from "Stereo3D driver" to "Virtual Reality driver".

Noone knows what Stereo3D is. At best, the average joe thinks its drivers for their nForce sound chipset.

Whereas as soon as we mention "Virtual Reality", people Instantly have a picture of what we are talking about, and it immediately peaks their interest. They think "The Matrix, Lawnmowerman, Holodecks from Star Trek" and much much more. Its an instant hook, and they want to know more. The media has done all the advertising for us. We just have to make the conection that THIS is what they has been advertising in the movies, and you dont have to have a fat wallet to have virtual Reality.

"What?! You mean that I can get it to work with any nVidia card, the one I have right now? with cheap red/blue glasses even?! Im gonna give this a try... Oh Holly Crap! the game looks awsome!"

Summing up,
We should start posting in the main forums, and start calling it the "Virtual Reality Driver" Everywhere. In my opinion it is the single most benificial thing that we can do for the community as a whole.

I will wait for a few responses to this post before starting a new thread in other parts of the forum.

Well, I don't think posting requests for up-to-date stereo drivers on the forceware drivers forum would be out of line at all, in fact there's already talk of stereo on there - among other things not strictly forceware- or even Nvidia-related (I'm currently reading through this thread on fresnel lenses /w00t.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':w00t:' /> ).

I agree that this forum seems like a rather ineffectual place to voice our support for stereoscopic 3D; the drivers forum seems a little busier, but better still would probably be to email Nvidia about it (politely!). But (another but) that'll only work if there are lots of people doing it - they aren't going to bump something up their to-do list at the behest of 2 or 3 people. What's needed is to find everyone we can, from anywhere on the net, who uses stereo 3D hardware with Nvidia products to voice their support in this forum, the drivers forum, and by email regularly.

I know stereo must be a low priority among the no-doubt huge list of fixes and improvements that need to be made, but I think Nvidia ought to at least (i) give it greater attention when crippling problems (such as the current poor SLI support) arise, and (ii) respond to us from time to time (even if it's to say new drivers are still a long way off, some acknowledgement is better than being ignored).
