I hope its true, but a quick reality check reveals that this kind of thing happens all the time. Remember every other website showing duke nukem forever release dates?

Lets hope not.

It would be nice to include the 8000 series users with XP in this. I'm not fond of Vista's overall gaming performance.

BUT...

I do hope they are working on a driver though, whether I'm forced to use Vista or not.

Who would Buy Zalmanns display without a working driver?
It is either a trick to make people buy the displays or the have something going on...

Well, I can wait. The newest games (UT3, Bioshock, Crysis) don't work in stereoscopy, so I have no reason to get them now. There are beta drivers in development, so it is reasonable to assume that development is still going on.

I think that guru3D post ("no more 8000 series support") was just a joke in poor taste. You have to know where your reliable information sources are! :magic:

Hi everyone.

I recently purchased a 3D Stereo monitor from iZ3d (http://www.iz3d.com), and have been able to play Bioshock and Crysis Demo on it without problem. The company provides its own stereo drivers to replace nVidia's (these drivers work great in DX9, and they are purportedly working on a DX10 version...no OpenGL support yet, but rumors of upcoming support). The drivers do an excellent job of rendering these games in stereo. Two other games I'm playing, HL2 and Farcry, also look awesome.

There is another company making a similar LCD monitor, but their name escapes me. I think you can find a link to it at http://www.mtbs3d.com.

If you're not familiar with the LCD Stereo technology, the beauty of it is it gives me virtually zero eye-strain. I have tried shutter glasses (a long, long time ago on an Atari ST...pretty cool but game-less at the time), and recently a head-mounted display from HeadPlay (http://www.headplay.com). The HeadPlay unit gave me nasty headaches, and regardless of what the marketing department said about it feeling like watching a 100" screen from 3 feet away (or something like that), it actually felt more like watching a postage stamp.

If you've got the money. and are looking for a stereo solution, I highly recommend going the LCD monitor route. It's pricey, but worth it, IMHO.

If nVidia buys iz3d, I'm afraid there won't be any stereo 3D development from nVidia OR iz3d AT ALL! :'(

As far as I know, iZ3D is owned by a joint venture between a massive flat screen display manufacturer and neurok optics. Not sure about the latter but the former has 25000 employees and makes about $5billion a year. Even if iZ3D are making a loss. I don't see it being sold anytime soon, there is just far too much money being invested, and realistically speaking, its the best and most active/accessable stereo technology in the world right now, and both Neurok Optics and this "Chi Mei Optoelectronics (CMO)" both know this -- all info from guru3D I believe.

No one? Really?
There to find any 'behind the scene' informations from nVIDIA about this? The Release notes also say nothing :(
