So The Vanishing of Ethan Carter is only the second game I have tried in 3D and WOW!
In Grid Autosport, it was cool, but in The Vanishing of Ethan Carter it actually ADDS to the game rather than just being a cool experience.
The opening scene with the train tacks disappearing into the distance is cool enough, but the grass sway and trees etc etc, is just amazing.
In scenes where a path meanders through bushes and foliage it totally adds to the game. I found myself switching off the 3d for a moment to see how things looked "flat", and in 2d you got very little idea of depth even though the graphics are great, put the 3d back on and you could clearly see how far off the next bend was etc.
Amazing!

Have you enabled the hot keys and adjusted the convergence? Also crank up that depth :P

Did you install the community stereoscopic compatibility fix?

Enjoy!
Hi D-Man
After I applied the helixmod fix I was able to crank the 3d effect all the way to the max without any defects. Great mod that and I do not know why the game developers have not issues something similar as a patch through steam.
I have not played with convergence though, I will see what difference it makes.
Side not, I like how the 3d effect automatically comes on for games, with a text overlay summarising any issues and rating the effect. That is very slick.

you'll definitely want to play with the convergence.
unless convergence is properly tweaked, the 3D can be underwhelming in some games
it's a real shame that Nvidia somewhat hides the option.

It could even be the reason The Vanishing of Ethan Carter looked so amazing to you compared to the other game, most community fixes already come with convergence set or as presets ... I stress most because not all of them do.
edit:scratch that, it looks like it doesn't have any presets in the DX9Settings.ini ... regardless though different engines/games will give you different 'default' convergence settings. Usually they're lower than you'd like, other times they're close or spot on and yet other times they'll be way too high and you'll have to lower it.

I haven't worked on it in awhile but decided to post my [very much a] WIP beginner's guide to 3D Vision if you want to check it out and give me any feedback as to how it works for you. :)

Thanks for the link, great info.
It would be good to add a section about watching movie clips with 3D Vision because most links that come up for this are pointing to an out of date youtube page that redirects to a list of videos that are red/green rather than shutter movies.

Thanks for the feedback, I'll try and add a bit on that ... YouTube's been a bit finicky for everyone lately there's instructions here using Firefox that seem to work for most people.
There's also this for keeping the stereoscopic player up to date, that helps with some issues.

You need to click Settings(Gear), then Options(next to 3D) and Select HTML 5 Stereo View ... but like I said it's a bit woinky, mine was working with the linked fix and now it's not. I'm just getting SBS videos ...

I don't bother with youtube & 3D, but I recall reading that something was messed up and it only worked in 360P.
So I use Chrome by default. That check page says Hardware is fine, but browser needs to switch to Firefox.
So I go to Firefox and try the check page and it says browser is fine by hardware fails because the driver is out of date, even though I am using the latest driver and it is suggesting a very old beta driver!
I am not sure which setting icon you mean TsaebehT, I cannot see any 3D settings.

If you search the forums, I recall that someone talked about a way to play youtube through Nvidia's 3D Vision player.
I think PowerDVD and TotalMediaCenter have a youtube player that works as well.
Arcsoft's TMT is discontinued and no longer available though.

Best info on YouTube currently. JGondek figured out how to make it work at present. FireFox only.

When I go to YT 3D I just see red/green 3d videos, which don't work with nvidia shutter glasses...?
