"Search" isn't bringing up much on this game for me in the threads already posted, so I've got to start this one, I suppose ...
Not the most visually enhanced game, I know, but still I enjoy some of the old school sort of shooters, of which "Dead Effect" seems to be one. Only thing is I cannot get the game to run with 3D Vision available.
I've seen screenshots and mentions on various sites running it in 3D, but darned if I can even get the nVidia "advisor" text in the lower right hand area of the screen when I start this game. And of course <ctl>-T does nothing. It acts just like other 2D only games when it runs.
I've tried choosing all three of the settings ("Always" "Only when 3D applications runs" etc) in the nVidia Control Panel. Nothing changes behavior.
If I install the Helix mod, then the game just never starts.
Anyone run across this and figured out what's going on?

My humble homebrewed sys:
3.40 GHz Intel Core i5-3570K ; ASUSTeK SABERTOOTH Z77 MB ; 8GB DDR3 ; EVGA GeForce GTX 560 2GB GDDR5 ; 2x2TB SATA HD ; Win7 64 Home
It needs to be assigned to the "3D-Hub Player" profile using NVIDIA Inspector in order for 3D to be enabled. As far as the the game never starting with the HelixMod installed, I'm not sure as it's still working perfectly fine on my setup with it installed.
If following the instructions here doesn't work for you maybe a clean Driver install is in order?

TsaebehT - yes, that does get me going - I've never tried that or known to do so - the linking to that profile.
Now, yes, a clean install and update to the newest version of driver (I'm one version behind).
Greatest appreciation for your advice.
Glad you got it working, the game's a blast in 3D. The aesthetic of it reminds me of games like Quake IV and Prey, which I'm wondering if one of those older OpenGL wrappers would work on. Although Prey's pretty hard to find, wish it would at least make it to GoG. That would be a blast in 3D, all the portals and upside down stuff. :)

TsaebehT, yes I see what you mean about Quake ...yeah, I've left a bit of Prey, to come back to and that would be a trip if I could finish it or replay in 3D!
Also, just did a clean install with a driver update and sure enough, the Helix mod works perfectly, as far as I can tell. No more of the distractions and anomalies!
I don't visit the forum often enough and can easily burn all morning trying to catch up ...
