Emitter wont connect to 3D Vision 2 Glasses
Hi there,
I got my 3D vision 2 emitter and glasses yesterday but I’m having trouble setting them up. When I get to the test where there is a triangle and hexagon the glasses do not turn on. So the image looks the same no matter which eye I close.

When I launch games, The Witcher 2 for example, the 3D effect does kick in. You can see there are two images and when I click the button on the emitter or ctrl+T it goes back to traditional 2D.

I one point yesterday during the hours I spent trying to get this going, it worked all of the sudden. The light green symbol on the emitter went bright green and I was able to see the games in 3D.

The problem is I don’t know what I did to get the glasses to turn or sync to the emitter. The instructions say just to tap the button on the glasses once. I do the light is solid green. But the symbol on the emitter has not gotten bright green again, and I can see anything in 3D?

I assure you I have all the proper hardware and would have given up on this if I had not gotten it to work properly for the 15 minutes it did work.
If anyone can help me sync these glasses up I would greatly appreciate it!

It's an IR sync signal, so you must be line of sight with the emitter. It sends the signal out at an upwards angle, so you need it to be on the desk and not above your head. Which Display are you using, it could be half of the issue. Also there are known problems when using USB 3 ports, try a USB 2 port. The drivers need to all be from the same set, you can not use an older Nvidia emitter driver with the latest Nvidia GPU drivers.

Thank you D-Man for taking the time to respond.

It’s good to know where the emitter’s ideal position should be. I had tried it on top of the monitor, in front of the monitor, below the monitor, and off to the side. All of which were at least two feet away from the glasses on my face.

I am using the Alienware Optx Aw2310 Monitor set to 1080p @ 120 Hz over a Dual Link DVI Cable and for my graphics card I have MSI's GTX 550 TI.

I actually only have USB 2.0 Ports at the moment. I originally had the emitter plugged into the USB hub on the back of the monitor, but moved it over to the back of my computer to make sure it was getting as much power as it could.

As far as drivers go at this point I have tried 270.61, 296.10, and 301.24 Beta. All with clean installs. I hadn’t ever installed a 3D emitter driver by itself; always together as a whole set of drivers. Which driver set do you believe is best for me at this point? Or which has been working for you?

Thanks again for your time and I would appreciate any suggestion you might have.

Go to device manager and make sure that the Nvidia emitter is listed. Also, in the Set up stereoscopic 3D tab of the Nvidia control panel, do you see a green Nvidia logo. That indicates that the GPU recognizes the display as a supported 3D display. Try unplugging the 3D emitter and only plug it in when it asks you too during the set up wizard,I read where someone did it that way and it worked. Although, I've never had to. As far as drivers, just avoid the past Beta drivers and try the certified ones. The only trouble I had was one driver broke windows media center, I can't remember which, may have been a Beta.
