3D TV Play support question (LG 47LW5700)
I have a chance to purchase the LG 47LW5700 3D TV fairly cheaply (800 bucks) and was wondering if this tv is supported by 3DTV play.

TV in question
http://www.lg.com/ca_en/tv-audio-video/tv/LG-led-tv-47LW5700.jsp
http://www.bestbuy.ca/en-CA/product/lg-electronics-lg-47-1080p-120hz-3d-led-hdtv-47lw5700ue-47lw5700/10166947.aspx

Looking at your 3D TV Play support, it states that the 42LW5700 is supported as well as 47LW5600. However there is no 47LW5700 listed.
Can I assume that 47LW5700 is supported as well since its the same TV as 42LW5700 or does each model need to be individually supported?

Thanks!

Hi all!

If someone knows the answer to that I will be very grateful, because I am in the same situation as disolitude, only I wanna get the 32'' version (32lw5700).

Thank you very much in advance!

Cheers!

I have a 47lw5500 (47lw550t in UK) LCD and using nvidia 3DTV without a problem. Your model already listed in the supported LCDs list, so TV size doesn't change anything, 3DTV will work without a problem.

If 3DTV Play does not enable submit the EDID via the instructions found here http://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/2774

Thx Iacuna!

D-man11, and about how much time does it take Nvidia to make a new EDID work, any idea? Or "one day, maybe" would be more accurate :P?

Thx!

As far as I know, unless the specific model # is listed on the support list, 3DTV Play will not enable. The reason is each TV is different and the response time/lag must be taken into consideration for the display profile to be created, as well as supported resolution, timings, screen size, type of color profile, etc...

I've no idea personally how long it takes, I'm unsure if you have to wait until a future official driver release or a beta driver. Or perhaps they have a way of adding it via some kind of patch?

Thanks guys. Despite the fact that it may in fact work, I won't be getting this TV. I saw what polarized 3D looks like on this set and I can clearly see the interlacing. Looks kinda bad in 1080p bluray and downright terrible when watching 720p content... And despite everything there is ghosting on top.

I'll stick to 720p 3D ready projectors for now.

Can I assume that 47LW5700 is supported ?

A better question is why do you care? 3DTV Play is crippled to scaled 720P and Video mode framepacking, the "double curse". Result is hideous image quality, so who would want it even if you set some kind of image on the screen, however bad picture quality?

Scaled gaming is no gaming, so get a native resolution capable TV.

Cause I needed a TV for a guest room and this one was offered at a good price and had 3D. I'll just get a better 2D only TV for the same price and stick to my projector for 3D.

But don't worry...Viva Checkerboard 3D! :)

In case anyone else is interested, LG 32lw5700 with 3DTV PLAY works right out-of-the-box, even though the "oficial" one is the 42'' version.

Despite the frame packing limitation, I'm very happy with my TV.

PLEASE Andrew, give us official checkerboard or SBS 3DTV PLAY support! There's been almost a year!

Cheers
