nvidia's '3d ready' list .. grrr how is someone supposed know if a display will work?
So I've been looking around at projectors, and at the nvidia '3d ready' list..
the list shows the pjd5111 as 3d ready, but here's the specs...
http://www.viewsonic.com/products/projectors/pjd5111.htm
Computer and Video NTSC M (3.58 MHz), 4.43MHz, PAL (B, D, G, H, I, M, N, 60), SD 480i and 576i (24fps, 25fps and 30fps), ED 480p and 576p (24fps, 25fps and 30fps), HD 720p, 1080i (24fps, 25pfs and 30fps)
Frequency Fh: 30-70 KHz, Fv: 50-87 Hz
What about this says 3d ready?? so is this just some oversite and thus the '3d ready' list is just that much shorter.
Then when you do a search for 120hz projectors the cheapest is NEC NP110, but it's not in the list so does that mean your going to have to fight to get your computer to use it with 3d vision? I've had to force win7 and 3d vision to work my 100-120hz crt's so i'm ready to fight 'non supported' 120hz projectors to work.
just something i've noticed. I guess i dont' understand why displays are so different that they can't just allow any 120hz display to work.
on more not i really wish they would fix the forum search because i don't know if it's ever worked for me.
so will the Acer X1161-3D work right even though it's not it the 3d ready list, or perhaps they need to update the list.

"3D ready" and "Nvidia 3D vision ready" are two different things.
3D ready means it can display 3D pictures if used correctly but does not tell what it is compatible with.
Nvidia 3D vision ready means it uses Nvidia 3D vision glasses and software to display 3D.
Nvidia 3D vision is a closed system. Nvidia has the know-how to support every single 3D display on the market but restricts support to officially supported displays only. The only hardware list you can trust is the one from the Nvidia FAQ... and users still reported issues with the generic CRT mode.

Ha yeah that's pretty much what my thread is about. thier list isn't even right. the PJD5111 is right off thier list and and just happened to be the first one i clicked on to start looking at different 'supported' projector specs.
here's the list i'm looking at..
http://www.nvidia.com/object/3D_Vision_Requirements.html
perhaps there is a more up to date and accurate one i'm not seeing.
What i really want is a place with all these displays and projectors hooked up so that you could actually look at them before dropping the cash on them. if nvidia is serious about pushing 3d vision they need to partner with a major nation wide retailer to have a demonstration area for people to see firsts hand before buying. I know i'm not happy with the level of ghosting i get on my crt and for the cost of '3d vision ready' displays it's just too expensive to throw down the cash just to be disappointed with the results.
From what i've read dlp is the best for 3d vision glasses hence why i'm looking into them. while i'd love to get the 22" viewsonic lcd monitor and a dlp projector i just don't have that cash. my old school crt projector which is still by far the best projector i've had for movies can rock 1024x768@115hz but there again i'm not really happy with the ghosting on it.
I'm looking at getting a portable projector for visuals at parties anyway. I can get a 3000 lumen lcd projector with horrible contrast for under $200 on craigslist, and then get the viewsonic 3d lcd monitor. OR for the same price i could get just a 3d ready dlp projector.
I'm in denver so if anyone knows of 3d vision with dlp projectors set up to check out, let me know.

What you want, you wont get, since Nvidia isn't in the direct retail market. The only time Nvidia will demo this tech is at Tech conventions. Although, I'm sure at this point with everyone touting their 3D ready HDTVs, Nvidia will tout other IPs they own.
The only pieces of hardware you can go by are what's on Nvidia's official list. And if you want to make sure you dont get ghosting, just make sure that piece of hardware meets the specs or wait for new product to come out and get added to the list.
And thank you are continuing to market test this product for the rest of us waiting outside on the whole "3D ready" (yah for marketing buzzwords) thing to clear itself and someone becomes the industry standard.
