dual monitor+mirror 3d stereo.. does it look good?
Hi..
I just wanted to know how 3d stereo looks with the dual monitor + mirror setup..
i'm planning to buy another 17'' LCD to put up a 3d stereo rig ;)
only i'm not 100% convinced of the result.. I would like to hear some impressions of who is actually using this configuration :)
Thanks!

PS: does anyone know how to make oblivion work with 3d stereo? with my anagliph glasses it looks sort of "far away".. not really 3d stereo..

Wanted to bump this, as I'm looking for similar input.

Could anyone provide links to discussion on this topic, outside of this forum? I'm surprised there isn't more interest in this, esp. as it can use dual LCD's.

As someone said elsewhere on this forum, if you have the two monitors already, you can hold up a mirrored CD-R blank to get a general idea of the effect.

By the way, there is a rather cultish group of audiophiles that listen to stereo music with their head placed up against a central wall (so, L & R speakers on separate sides of an acoustically opaque divider). "Ambiophonics" is the usual name.

ambiophonics "book"

Kind of an interesting overlap with the mirrored video displays.

I have experienced this, and the result for me are:

PROS:
- Perfect quality, no gosthing and no bright loss.

CONS:
- You need 2 flat monitors (crt or tft), and a special front end mirror to see a perfect image. Then you need a lot of space in your desktop.

- Nvidia Stereo driver compatibility is not as good as with shutterglasses. Some games doens´t work. I have not tested compatibility with last stereo drivers, and there are not people reporting experiences.

- You must be just in front of the mirror, so you must be quiet. You have some margin movement. You can´t use trackIR if you want to fly.

It is a great experience with working games. I forgot it some months ago because Nvidia stereo driver lost compatibility with some important games for me, and because now only I have one crt monitor. I hope to return to this experience in the near future (I hope the driver support it). If the game works, it is the best way to be played... but is not very confortable to have two monitors and a mirror. You decide.

Hi

I've no experience with Your 3D setup.

To get Oblivion to work in 3D You need to change 1 thing in the Oblivion.ini file in the:
c:\Documents and settings\"username"\My dokuments\My games\Oblivion folder
change
"bDoImageSpaceEffects=1"
to
"bDoImageSpaceEffects=0"
That should do the trick.
The 3D is not optimal though (which is a real shame) but it'll do.
There is a thread on Oblivion:

hiya!

I use two 19in flat ctr moniter with a two way mirror and polarized plastic sheets/glasses.

It rocks. crysital clear. large depth. very comfy.

I've never used shutter so i can't compare. but problems i can see with this setup..
you can't tilt your head more than 15 degrees without ghosting. but you can't tilt your head much in any setup without losing depth. it's tricky to setup.

yeah! like that oblivion looks great in 3d stereo.. but the water is purple/pink :'( and when i go near to it oblivion crashes... maybe it's bacause of some conflict with some mods.. anyway thank you!

i'm nearly convinced to set up a dual monitor rig for 3d stereo.. now I only need to find a cheap 17'' .. I'll let you know.. :)

ps: how big has the mirror have to be if I have 17'' LCD monitors?
thanks in advance
