Do the drivers lock out unsupported nvidia cards?
I was looking at building a mini itx pc with a motherboard that has an onboard nvidia 9300 and wanted to know if the geforce setup will still work with this gpu, or any gpu's below the minimum system requirements of a 9600 GT? This is just for video playback so its not like i need a gaming card.

You would only be able to use anaglyph mode (3D Vision Discover) with this videocard, unfortunately the shutter glasses won't work with "unsupported" slower GPUs. And while that is good if you are using 3D Vision for gaming in your case when you want to use it for 3D movie watching or 3D picture viewing it is a clear drawback...

@Bloody
I would be interested in the same thing!

I have tested several "unsupported" cards and all worked without problems:
- Quadro FX 570
- Quadro FX 3700
- Quadro FX 5800

Since the FX 570 is working, I would guess that the FX 370 Low Profile is also working, but I cannot confirm this. The card would be an ideal solution for a SFF PC.
Since we have no Geforce cards here, I cannot test those.

Maybe Andrew could shed light on this?

Best regards,
Andreas

I have tried with low profile passive cooled GeForce 8400 card and could not run the 3D Vision on it, but that was quite a while ago and with 2-3 newer versions of the drivers already released something might have changed. It would be great even if 3D Vision is only functional for 3D movies and images on other less powerful video cards.

You should try again with your Geforce 8400. The first versions of the stereoscopic driver did not support our Quadro cards and we ordered one Geforce 9600GT just for this purpose. Later we discovered that the newer drivers support all our Quadro cards.

Good luck,
Andreas
