I just ordered the Samsung DLP TV to use with my 3D Vision and this doesn't bode well but I only have myself to blame if what you suspected was true: I should have learned from the XP 3D driver abandonment lesson but the 3D luring is just too strong to resist. Oh well, I hope it's still a good TV regardless even if Nvidia molested consumers that way. May be it will be for the better since AMD will have the arena for itself and come out with their own 3D solution.
Dont Fret. People are haters of 3d vision, most of them have spent the money on IZ3D and are pissed that there solution is not as good as Nvidia 3d Vision.
They have updated there drivers regularly and have got rid of the Red tint issue with Samsung DLPS which isn't even officially supported!!!! This technology will not get dumped its too dang cool!!!!
I own a HL61A750 and I am super happy with it and you will be too. Don't let anyone convince you otherwise!!!!!!
People have stated that 3d in the past was dumped by Nvidia (Support), but this new 3d will only get better when new T.V's and monitors come out that support this new technology

Good to know the Sammy is very good with 3D Vision and thanks for sharing your experience with it. Too bad Samsung discontinued DLP product line after these 2008 models.

There you're wrong! We're not haters of nvidia 3d-vision. It's more about us getting stereoequipment for playing and all of a sudden being without any support for it. o.O Wouldn't you have been pissed? Just a tad? ;) :P
I prefer to see what we have in common: The love of the 3d-effect and the extra immersion 3d brings to gaming.
And then maybe all working to get a higher degree of 3d-compability in games and other media in the future.

I'm pretty new to these forums, but this whole discussion seems a bit overly "doom & gloom-y" to me. Didn't nvidia *just* release this technology commercially like 3 months ago? No company with any good sense releases a brand new product line, especially not one that took as much obvious r&d as 3d Vision, and cancels it that same quarter (I mean look how long Toshiba stood behind "HD-DVD" even when it was obvious it was not a winning product). Besides, searching the net I can't find a single negative review of the product; on the contrary, every single review I can find is a glowing recomendation. Even if you're one to think tech reviews are rigged they can't possibly have rigged every single review, so the fact that they're ALL positive speaks volumes.
Besides, the entire entertainment industry is headed towards 3d (just like it was headed towards HD ten years ago), so nvidia would be foolish to get this far just to turn back and let ATI or even Sony or Samsung beat them to the punch with products those companies already have confirmed in development.
IMO, tech forums such as this are rarely frequented by official devs because of the very nature of online forums. Everybody has an opinion, and everybody thinks theirs is the right opinion, and no matter what the "official" says, it's gonna piss somebody off. It's just a fact inherent in the nature of online forums. Seems to me now that the technology has gone public (if not quite "mainstream"), the official support on public forums is bound to wane. I'm not saying that I wouldn't prefer it otherwise or that it's necessarily the winningest marketing strategy, but it's just reality. Show me a mainstream [PC industry] manufacturer's tech forum that is frequented by devs and I'll show you some beachfront property in Oklahoma. /whistling.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':whistling:' />
So, don't assume the sky is falling because the devs don't come around like they did during "beta" or even at initial release. C'est la vie.
Anyway, here's hoping Andrew comes back and proves me wrong (esp since my Samsung & 3d Vision bundle just shipped today! ;)hehe)
Seems to me now that the technology has gone public
This is indeed the difference from the old times stereo-3d. The first game i played in stereo-3d was tomb raider 2 and my, what a blast! Lol! I started with a pair of e-d glasses which drivers didn't work because there was stereodrivers especially for nvidiacards. Nothing announced, i had to dig some to find them...
Anyway: tr2 was released 1997 so the technology about playing games in stereo should be about 10 years old, maybe older. I haven't been around from the very first start so i cannot really tell. :)
