Sony Vegas Pro & Power Director 10 Issues primarily with Vegas
1 / 3
I just started playing with the 2 new programs listed using the new Sony HD10.
Regarding PD10, after loading 285.38, I got the 2nd monitor to play 3d clips and video from the work I"m editing. A little issue with the mouse, but I just hit the "windows key" to get it back. So far so good.
On Vegas, using 280.26, was able to get the secondary monitor to work about 5% of the time. Quite a bit of stuttering though for about 10 seconds then it would catch up. 95% of the time, I couldn't get anything.
Using 285.38, I get the 2nd monitor up on 3d, IR emitter good, Nvidia green wording/unrated in the lower right, but a black screen, with "hit esc to exit" flashing. The vid isn't getting sent from the Vegas program. I'll be in touch with Sony tech shortly but tossing this out there for any hints. --following the instrux in the manual...
Asus RIII extreme, 980x oc 4ghz, 12 gb ram, EVGA GTX 480 X 3, Planar X 3, Win 7/64/sp1, no sli, using only 2 monitors.
P.S. REALLY!!! nice to see this stuff coming out on Geforce so I don't have to buy quadro cards. Thank you.
P.P.S. My hardware works fine with all other 3d applications fine---my other box is for surround, different topic...

Complete reinstall of OS, etc. No 3d on 2nd monitor on Vegas Pro 11, Still get the flashing "hit esc". NV guys, you hearing anything from Sony on this?

Running the latest update from Sony, Version 11.0, Build 425 - 64 bit --- 285.62 drivers. Still having the same problem. I have Sony tech looking at this, anybody here know anything?

Just don't want you to think it's fixed. Some folks are using 266.58 to get their 3d monitoring in Sony Vegas Pro 11. I'd like to be able to use a current driver, pretty please.

Hi djb,
I too have been suffering through the nightmare that is 3D Vision 3D preview on Sony Vegas 10/11 with a Sony TD-10 (and NX3D1).
Are you saying that version 266.58 of the GeForce driver WORKS with a GeForce GTX card? I have a new GTX 570, but I ditched it for a Quadro 2000D, and I can't get that to work yet, either. I don't recall trying that driver with my GTX.
The GeForce GTX 570 seems like a much more capable card for Vegas than the Quadro, and getting that set-up working would be ideal.
Have you found any other online resources that have been helpful with 3D Vision on your TD-10?

Thanks so much. Assembling a 3D Vision Sony Vegas 11 system has been tough. Here are two of my posts outlining this... so far, nothing from Sony.

Hey guys, I haven't tried 266.58, someone in one of the Sony forums said that that was he reverted to. I prefer to stick to current drivers. I've contacted Sony support and they asked me for my specs and it's been quiet after that. Presume folks fiddling with it.
Thanks Andrew for checking.
As usual, be more than willing to test out some things, after I get back at the end of the week.

I use driver version 270.81 successfully. Anything later than that and Sony Vegas 11 gets really confused. I have a GeForce GT 430 video card from Zotac.

Hi
Can everyone who is having problems, please be a little more specific? What happens? Does 3D not work? does the app crash? Are there error messages?

It kinda flashes....
Just kidding, as soon as I get back on Saturday, I'll do a full step by step and some screenshots. The original post was me seeing if I was alone out there, which now does not seem to be the case. Thanks Andrew.

I have success in Vegas11 secondary monitor 3d preview with 266.58 driver and geforce210.
But only as long as i do not click with the mouse on the timeline on the first monitor.
If i install newer driver, i get black screen in secondary 3D monitor.
I cannot write is more precisely.
No error message here, just black. And on powerdvd10 the same situation.
Please fix it, thanks!

No, it does not crash. Here is what happens on my system:
First, the green LED on the IR transmitter goes bright momentarily, then goes dim and stays dim. That, if I understand it correctly, indicates the NVIDIA card switches to the 3D mode but immediately returns to 2D.
The monitor then displays both, the left and the right views, at the same time regardless of whether I look through the 3D glasses or without them.
Vegas pops up a message stating the mode is not supported. It also pops up its standard message to press ESC to exit the full screen mode. NVIDIA pops up the message that the application is not rated and to press Alt-Ins (or something like that), but pressing it does not remove the message.
None of that happens in driver 270.81 (which I got from the CUDA developers page), in which everything works right: Vegas shows the preview in 3D, does not give me the error message, and NVIDIA’s message to press the Alt-Ins message not only disappears after pressing the keys, it even stays off the next time (thank you!).
So, something changed in the 280+ drivers that confuses Vegas. This is Vegas 11 I’m (we’re) talking about.

All of my attempts to use 3D Vision in Sony Vegas 11 in the video preview window have failed with a GeForce GTX 570 and Quadro 2000D card. I run Win7 Pro 64-bit on a Dell XPS 8100 with 16GB RAM.
I have a dual-monitor set-up running Sony Vegas 11 build 425. One monitor is a Dell 2311H, and the other is a 3D Vision-ready Acer HN274H 3D monitor that I am attempting to preview .m2ts files from Sony NX3D1U and HDR-TD10 cameras. On the GTX 570 running the 285 driver I received a purple flickering screen and/or an occasional "App Not Rated by Nvidia Corp." error. I could not ever get the Quadro 2000D to initialize 3D vision. Links to my original posts on the Sony Vegas Pro forum are on my previous Nvidia forum post.

I will have the SW team look into this next week.

Dan

I use driver version 270.81 successfully. Anything later than that and Sony Vegas 11 gets really confused. I have a GeForce GT 430 video card from Zotac.

Hi
Can everyone who is having problems, please be a little more specific? What happens? Does 3D not work? does the app crash? Are there error messages?

It kinda flashes....
Just kidding, as soon as I get back on Saturday, I'll do a full step by step and some screenshots. The original post was me seeing if I was alone out there, which now does not seem to be the case. Thanks Andrew.

Please note that my card is slightly overclocked right now (as seen in the system info above), but it was not overclocked at the time I had the more recent drivers, and it works correctly with the 270.81, overclocked or not.

Thx,
