Morrowind 3D Need advice on MGE settings
I'm eager to try some 3D gaming, and Morrowind appears on a lot of lists as offering a very good 3D experience. I figured that such an old game would run blazingly fast on my PC, and it does, but not in 3D. I installed several mods, and used the MGE to enhance the graphics. In 2D I can run with very high settings and still achieve a high frame rate - roughly 30 to 75 fps. If I switch to 3D this dips dramatically - usually to about 6 fps.

I researched this, and it appears the issue is with Distant Land - a feature which increases the draw distance and adds to the detail of the game world. When I disable Distant Land I achieve a decent fps in 3D, but the game is much less attractive. I've spent the last few days fiddling with settings trying to find the sweet spot, but I'm getting discouraged. Even with very low distant land settings the game is choppy in 3D. The best I've been able to achieve is about 15fps in towns, 30fps in open countryside. I also get some weird graphical artifacts.

I have a dual core 6600 CPU (old but still decent), 4GB of RAM, a brand new GTX 560Ti, and a brand new 120Hz monitor. I figure I should be able to achieve better results than I'm currently getting. I've checked every FAQ out there, but none cover 3D gaming. Are there any experienced hands who might be able to help me zero in on some settings that would deliver a smoother 3D experience?

Any help would be appreciated.
