Zalman Monitors An advantage over the rest?
  1 / 2
I own the Zalman TriMon 22" Monitor. And I keep finding reasons to say its better than any 120HZ monitor. Yes it half's the resolution, and this can be a issue in games with small text like Dragon Age but you really don't notice it in other games

Positive Things
==========
YouTube 3D is supported
nVidia 3D Vision Driver
iz3D Driver is now also Free for Zalman Owners
RealD Glasses work with the monitor (Although I find you have to turn them up-side down) so you don't have to pay $150 for a friend/wife/girlfriend to watch
Price! - The 22" Zalman and its included glasses only cost me £160 (~$220)
You can have 3D Desktop Wallpapers (Not a huge plus I know)

Negative Things
==========
Resolution is half

So I'm wondering how many of you also own this monitor, and if you have anything positive/negative to say about it.
It is literally the cheapest way to get 3D Vision on your PC.

Add this to to your list

-> positive things
It's also supported by DDD tridef driver.
Native 3D support in TrackMania Nations/United forever
Native 3D support in Avatar the game (PC and X360, not PS3 due to PS3 scaling not supporting 1680x1050), was working on day 1 with both the demo and the full game (remember the driver compatibility hell with 3D vision ? no such thing with the Zalman)
Native 3D support in a few other 3D tech demos.
3D surround has been working for years via Matrox TripleHead to go + either iZ3D or DDD driver
3D surround has been working for more than 6 months via ATi Eyefinity + either iZ3D or DDD driver (I suspect it worked on Day 1 when eyefinity was released but it was not tested at that time)

Apart from gaming, interlaced 3D is supported in almost every professional 3D enabled video editing software or plug-in. It is the preferred way for film editors (if they don't have the budget for the full dual projector system) because it allows editing on a standard screen while checking the 3D on the Zalman monitor while keeping the glasses on (no need to put on and remove constantly)

-> negative things
Vertical view angle in 3D is very very narrow, this is a much worse drawback than the reduced vertical resolution
Old ? (it already had average response times when it was released, it's considered slow nowadays)

BlackShark you make some good points.

I personally use 3D Studio Max and love the fact iz3D works with it. No has to be Fullscreen restrictions, yet for games I use the 3D Vision Drivers. (I thought nVidia wouldn't be releasing the Zalman versions anymore but this seems to not be the case)

I do dislike the fact I have to be sitting at a certain height for the 3D to work, but it seems fine for individual use.

Yes, I have the 22" Zalman and it is one hell of a kit. I bought it right when it hit the market and paid over $700 for it. Its a steal going for under $300 these days. The monitor is not perfect but I am convinced its the best bang for your buck in terms of 3D monitors.

Pros:
Works with all 3 drivers (Nvidia, DDD, IZ3D)
Passive glasses are light and comfortable
No flicker
Very low ghosting
Supports YouTube3D

Cons:
Loss of resolution
Very small viewing angles
No HDCP support (on 22" model, the newer 1080P models support HDCP)

Do Zalman Nvidia 3D drivers get same kind of montly love and support as 3D vision? I mean, is RE5, Metro 2033...certified as 3D ready when using the Zalman? Or are drivers just generic 3D drivers which get updated once in a blue moon?

I too own a Zalman 22" and love it. I have about 6 pairs of RealD glasses so friends can watch too for no extra cash... Viewing angle is narrow but once sat in front of the monitor I never notice as I'm not moving too much :)
In response to disolitude the Zalman just uses the Nvidia 3Dvision drivers, you don't need any "special" or obscure drivers for it to work. It does say "Zalman monitor not supported" whenever I install new 3Dvision drivers but they always work :)

We have a slight delay, we usually get the latest driver version a couple days later but yes, we have all the profiles as the normal driver.

How is the ghosting (stereo crosstalk) on this screen, and is it still available, and for how much in the UK? Cheers.
