Hi all, Ive got the ACER GD245HQ (GD235HZ). I wanted to buy an PG278Q, but the thread about it scared me.
I don't wan't crosstalk (ghosting), I don't care about the rest, like latence, size, blur, color, contrast, resolution, G-synch ect, I just wan't an no 3D ghosting monitor.

Please test your monitors to get the results, this way I could find the ONE ! Test would take you about 3 minutes, more if you're slow. :)
Plus you'll be able to set the better 3D possible from your setting ! So do it guys !

On white there is full ghost on top and bottom of the screen. On Grey you can see color ghost on the bottom, reverse ghost in the center and full ghost on th top. Ghost on blacks are quite perfect thouth (Left and right ghost come from the glasses).
Reverse ghosting come frome exeed of screen overboost.

The black stripes does not appear, it comes from active LED backligthing (probably the LightBoost).
On white there is full ghost on the very bottom and reverse ghost on very top of the screen. On Grey you can see reverse ghost. Ghost on blacks are quite present, even in full black...

I don't think you'll find anything significantly better than Lighboost Vision 2 monitors.
Just look through the 3D glasses when they work and you'll see they don't block 100% of the light.
You'll have to wait a few years for HMDs to mature (resolution, screeen door effect), I'm afraid :(

Some are better than others, I need the crosstalk test to compare. All monitors get different results. This is why I have compare all 3DTV before buying one. The most expensive are mostly the worst in 3D. Only a good crosstalk test can show that.
I play for 3D. So 3D should be perfect. I don't play 2D anymore.
Can you test your 3D screen?

TVs differ a lot, I agree on this.
But I think most 3D Vision 2 monitors will give you similar results.
I've tested only Benq's:
XL2411T
XL2411Z
XL2720Z
plus tons of CRT monitors back in the days.
The crosstalk is comparable. It's always both non-existent and really annoying even ruining the experience - depending on the scene and brightness differences between objects on the screen.
Some scenes and lighting conditions will end up almost crosstalk free, and some will force you to really alter the brightness and contrast to make them acceptable.
I've never read a review with "this monitor is much better than any previous 3DV2 monitor out there in terms of 3D crosstalk". And I think I've read all 3DV2 monitor reviews.
I remember seeing posts on the forums, from owners of certain monitor model, saying they have an issue with crosstalk, so maybe not all monitors are equal, but most of them is probably pretty much the same in regards to crosstalk issues.

I would like to know if there is a noticeable difference between the 1st released generation of Nvidia 3d Vision Monitors (I have one of them, the Samsung 2233RZ monitor) and the Nvidia 3d vision 2 monitors, apart from the increase of brightness. I really do not know if there is a real improvement in terms of 3D quaility if I changed to a new model.
I think I have not bought another one so far because I am waiting for a clear winner that guaranties me the the change is a real change. OLED technology sounds good in terms of image quality, but no idea about 3D capabilities in the near future.

If you really care about crosstalk, and I do, you simply must get a DLP projector. This is the parameter I care the most about, and no monitor can compare.
A similar test on 3DVisionBlog:
http://3dvision-blog.com/4056-stereo-3d-display-crosstalk-test-photos-with-some-results/
At the bottom I post some photos of projector caliber crosstalk for comparison.
BTW, I don't think 3D YouTube video is a good way to do this test, because YouTube 3D is all effed up. I've stopped trying to get it work. I don't know about other people, but I'm not taking your test because I can't see 3D from YouTube.
For the same test you'd be far better off with 4 jps images, because we can at least download those and see them. Just a suggestion.

3D effet is not revelant in this situation, cause this is not a 3D effect that we need here, just a picture that should entirely be blinded by a "flat" color.
The video and pictures are link in the descripton, if you had read it...
It could be any picture but mine is friendly one, it's a rabbit, a cloud and some grass, which have some constrast level in it, black, grays and white. Perfect for testing, very easy to interpret, 4 shots through one glasse, and that's it. It is easy to set your 3D settings with it, just try to make the picture disapear.
I'm no newbie here, so no offence but could you just do the test please ? I want to compare 3D monitors, to buy the one. I don't need you to tell me they are all the same or that I should buy a projector. Use 3 min to make the test, and let me prove you that some are better than others.
I was a fan of 3DVisionblog, Bloody and I know each other. His blog is not updated as it use to, 3D is not new and people doesn't really care about it anymore.
I post some 3D gameplay on my channel, from YT, it works great in side by side if you use an HDMI 1.4 TV. With monitor, you can use savefrom.net extention to download the videos:
http://en.savefrom.net/user.php
Hope you get all that and make me my 4 shots, really I can't wait for it, plus if you find better settings from my rabbit test, then I'll be very happy to have helped you get the better 3D from your monitor.
Regards.

Cool, understood. I'm just giving you the feedback that it's not as easy as you think, which causes some friction in terms of getting results. 3D effect IS relevant, 3D must be enabled for this test to work. It's not a 3D image to be viewed, but it must be turned on, and YouTube is busted.
Here, I put your pictures up on my server, please feel free to link to them. If that's not OK, please let me know. I renamed them to jps for convenience, because they'll open properly with 3D enabled.

Also, for taking pictures, you'll want to let the monitor/projector warm up for 30 minutes. Cold startup is typically worse for monitors ghosting.
When you take photos- try to get the camera lens where you eye would normally look through. Off to either side can make it look much worse than it is. There is a sweet spot. Also, don't rotate the glasses or you change the polarization.

Yes crosstalk is real, but to compare we need to make the same test... Mine is good for it, cause it helps to find the better settings to reduce crosstalk. Just make the rabbit disappear !
Have you tried it yet?
Normally both eyes should get the same results, but we have saw strange things on Samsung bluetooth monitors !
**********************************
By the way, I've seen Age of Ultron, great converted 3D, lot of separations, amazing work, but all reflections are wrong, they don't make them 3D, just appear on the reflection surface. (most converted movies have wrong reflections).
Ok I'll go back to Trine Enchanted in 3D. In the mean time, make me some rabbit pictures please ! :)
Cheers.

To get best results, some type of camera (sensor/settings) calibration should also occur for each submission. For example, each submission might include both 2D (no glasses) and 3D (with glasses) .jpg files - this enables better visual comparison from different cameras/settings, like HDR On or Off.
3D ghosting can be difficult to compare, unless the same user (physically) or camera setup (remotely) is performing the comparison. For example, see http://www.digitalversus.com/tv-television/samsung-ue55es8000-p12984/test.html (click 3D ghosting picture for more photos - using the SAME camera setup).

I've use phone camera, old camera, new camera (compact/DSLR), the result is the same...
It's a french website, LesNumeriques, I'm french, and know there testing method, it's rubbish, TriDef pattern, is absolutly unreadable (for most people), and have not be made to find crosstlak at all...
They try to find crosstalk on several TV, but they don't know how to read the result so it's pretty useless for them to weigh the 3D, I've made a list long time ago:

Ditto.
Other than that, if you really think ghosting is the number one issue, then you should look into getting a DLP projector. There is, literally, zero ghosting.
Monitors do not really compare to the quality of projectors and the level of immersion you get from the big screen. There's a subconscious comparison to the scale of things from your surrounding area as well, I'm fairly sure. So even if you would have a projector and monitor fill the same amount of space in front of you, the level of immersion would be higher on a projector.
Now if you just want a brilliant display for gaming that also does 3D, then I can't help. I've been very happy with my old Asus VG278H. Only downside is the pixel inversion pattern. But this is hardly unique to the display model itself, nor is it really a big deal. It seems that the 120Hz and 144Hz displays especially are just prone to this. Also to note: I've seen people claim their model X monitor does not suffer from pixel inversion, but in reality they have just not realized they have it.

Brightness: 100
Contrast: 40
White / Grey / Black / Full Black
On white there is full ghost on top and bottom of the screen. On Grey you can see color ghost on the bottom, reverse ghost in the center and full ghost on th top. Ghost on blacks are quite perfect thouth (Left and right ghost come from the glasses).
Reverse ghosting come frome exeed of screen overboost.
Here the result of the ASUS VG248QE on 3DVision 2 glasses:
Brightness: 100
Contrast: 30
LightBoost: 50
White / Grey / Black / Full Black
The black stripes does not appear, it comes from active LED backligthing (probably the LightBoost).
On white there is full ghost on the very bottom and reverse ghost on very top of the screen. On Grey you can see reverse ghost. Ghost on blacks are quite present, even in full black...
Help me choose the right one, share you result pictures with monitor settings here !

Just look through the 3D glasses when they work and you'll see they don't block 100% of the light.
You'll have to wait a few years for HMDs to mature (resolution, screeen door effect), I'm afraid :(
I play for 3D. So 3D should be perfect. I don't play 2D anymore.
Can you test your 3D screen?

Regards.

Here, I put your pictures up on my server, please feel free to link to them. If that's not OK, please let me know. I renamed them to jps for convenience, because they'll open properly with 3D enabled.

Even better thread with lots of detail and pictures:

Also, for taking pictures, you'll want to let the monitor/projector warm up for 30 minutes. Cold startup is typically worse for monitors ghosting.
When you take photos- try to get the camera lens where you eye would normally look through. Off to either side can make it look much worse than it is. There is a sweet spot. Also, don't rotate the glasses or you change the polarization.

Have you tried it yet?
Normally both eyes should get the same results, but we have saw strange things on Samsung bluetooth monitors !

Cheers.

LesNumeriques don't test monitors with pattern, so it won't help me here...

Result same screen different cameras: (This quality is enough to compare. It's 200x100 !!!)
Canon PowerShot A70 (old 2003 compact):
Samsung Note 2 (phone): (The shadow stripes come from my phone apparently. Even then it's enough for me...)
Canon Ixus 115 HS (compact):
Sony DSC H1 (DSLR):
Always can see:
Color ghost at bottom, reverse ghost at middle, full ghost on the top. At all 4 differents shots ! I don't ask more.
Please make the test ! Stop telling me stories...
