I've been interested is setting up a 3DVision PC for a long time, but are many people still using this technology or is it gradually phasing out like 3D did in the cinema and home TVs?
I'm still not 100% with this technology and what's needed to get the technology working on someone's PC, but I recently finished building my new PC, plus, I bought an LG 55" C6 OLED (which is 3D capable) to use as my monitor. If I wanted to use Nvidia's 3DVision, what components need to be purchased through Nvidia? Clicking through the website, I've seen displays, glasses, complete PCs, software, etc, so I'm a little confused about what exactly I need to make my PC use 3DVision. Will it work with the 3D TV I'm using as a monitor? Is there special software that must be installed? Are the glasses any different than what come with a display which has active/passive 3D capabilities?

This community is very active, thanks to some very talented members - see [url]http://helixmod.blogspot.com/2013/10/game-list-automatically-updated.html?m=1[/url]. Some recent game fixes also support SBS and TAB 3D formats, which should work with most 3D TVs (suggest using TAB with LG).

There's a sizable community that patches games to work in 3D. Recently there's been patches released for Watch Dogs 2, Doom, Titanfall 2, Abzu, Witcher 3, Far Cry Primal, Hitman 2016...
So yeah, it's still in use.
As for setting it up on that TV, others can assist with that :)

What? 3D is far from phasing out in cinema. Most animation films, if not all, are 3D and many block busters also are. And when I look at representation time, I see more hours for 3D than 2D. Then all this shift to Blu-Ray after a while.
But for PC yes it's quiet. nvidia does not promote it like before, do not push developpers to support it like before, no new 3D profiles since a while. We must stand strong and show our presence.

I know they brought out a gaming mode to help reduce the latency. Have you tried this gaming mode?
Do you know what the new input lag is?
I'm quite curious about the new Optoma UHD60 ($2799) 4k projector but it's not looking like it has 3D and not sure how the TI mirror system will be regarding input lag either.
The sony 4k projectors are way out of my price range. I really hope this optoma projector forces prices down.

Input lag for newer LG OLEDs is actually quite good - see displaylag.com and search for LG. The key issue with the newer (faster) 2016 LG OLED is that the standard 4K EDID mod (works for other 4K LG models and years) does not appear to work with the 2016 OLEDs. Some type of revised EDID mod may be required (note that joker18 created this mod - thanks for the great work)...

In game mode there is a bit of improvement for 1080p.
In 2160p 3D you have the same inputlag as in 2D but if you use 1080p 3D yes inputlag is double.

This is great to hear, about the community being so active, not so much about my 2016 OLED. I also have an older Sony 65" 850A, which I could swap with the OLED. The Sony was one of the first 4K TVs to hit the market, but when standards started being set for HDCP and HDMI 2.0 (this was before the release of HDR) this Sony only has 1 HDMI port that can be used to view 4K UHD content. At the time I bought this TV, the only was to watch any 4K content was to use Sony's FMP-X10. Even though it literally took days to download a movie, despite having a 300Mbps connection, I could watch 4K content. This set is in my bedroom, and I would happily swap it for the OLED. I think the Sony I have was made in 2013.

40ms input lag is intolerable if you play anything competitively.

I would argue in some situations it will actually give you an advantage. I am almost positive the upcoming tekken 7 will be advantageous to play in 3d for wiff punishing and spacing in a true 3d arena.
I even notice I do better in SFv with 3dvision on.
I also find dark souls games much easier in 3d including pvp, much easier to gauge actual distances and AOE's of attacks.
Jumping puzzles in gw2 I find easier also. Probably a disadvantage in shooters though.
But, Sorry If I missed if this issue only manifests on these monitors in 3d.
