Can anyone possibly link a decent pair of usb rechargeable DLP glasses that compare well against the 3D Vision 2 glasses? I don't want to spend any more than £100 for a pair. There are so many on ebay, plus I would only trust comments or reviews from NVidia 3D users regarding the quality and how they compare to the NVidia ones. Thanks!
Any ideas guys?
Thanks!

Thanks!
I've never used 3D Vision glasses with my RP DLP, but I have used some of the cheaper 'models' on ebay, every once in awhile I like to grab a pair of the cheapest I can find and see how they work. The last pair I bought were like these (<$25): http://www.ebay.com/itm/Free-shipping-now-active-shutter-3D-glasses-for-DLP-link-projectors-COOL-/161068165159 ... and they're the ones I use 99.9% of the time now, they're extremely comfortable and don't take up too much of your vision plus they're rechargeable. The only issue I've had with them is if the 'scene' is too bright they lose/reverse sync, Skyrim when a dragon is flambeing your arse, some bright scenes in Remember Me. I can imagine when I get around to replaying Mirror's Edge that I'll have to switch back to the one's I used to use all the time, which were True Depth 3D ($65) ... there's newer ones out now 'True Depth 3D® Firestorm XL' and other ones that look exactly like some of the cheaper $20 models. That's one of the problems with buying off of ebay you never really know who's actually making the no name brand ones.
One of the main issues with DLP-Link glasses is the lenses aren't parallel to the screen, coplanar to each other, which will cause crosstalk, especially the closer you sit to the screen. Some glasses are better, or flatter, than others but I have yet to find any DLP-Link glasses that the lenses are truly 'flat', parallel/coplanar to the screen/each other. (scratch that, I lied ... Lol, the very first DLP-Link glasses I bought are extremely 'flat' http://www.satnews.com/images_upload/385074079/Volfoni_3DKit_p.jpg and extremely uncomfortable!)
I grabbed a couple of the cheaper ones to try out, I'll let you know how they work out when I get them.

OK so the projector arrived last night and I've had a few hours to get it set up.

No cross talk that I can detect, most games look good in 720, runs at 120hz in 2D nicely, and its pretty quiet. Rainbows aren't too bad either.
Acer DLP glasses seem pretty good so far
Bad things...
60hz is blurred for some reason, regardless of the focus, 120hz doesn't suffer from this.
Depth is really poor, I've tried to mess with a depth hack but can't seem to get the depth to look any better!
No idea yet how to apply a HDMI override so I can try out my 3D Vision glasses, but I'll check out some forums tomorrow.
I don't think your depth hack is working or configured right.
HDMI override [not sure if this means edid override]? Just need an edid override as far as I know. They are on 3d vision blog.
here is my depth hack. I will set it to 50" since I have no idea how big your sceen is.
Less " = more depth. 100 = 50" . 200 = 100"

make a txt paste the following. Rename from [whatever].txt -> [whatever].bat
Run bat before playing.

So that effectively keeps hammering the registry a million times and then ends? Ouch. :)
I'm a little curious why it stops at a million and doesn't just keep going, it does take up a fair bit of CPU usage (15% +/- on my laptop) but it doesn't seem to change memory-wise. Just having it QUERY the Key it blows through the script about 1000 times in 20 seconds ... that's about 50 times a second.

Yea, you can alter the loop so it ends soon as you are in game. It only takes like 3% of my cpu for me
I need it to go for a long time cause I am always alt tabbing.
-------
Use this and it will end after one minute so it will end soon as your in-game.

Thanks for the batch file! I found out my error, I wasn't running the depth hack with admin mode, so it wasn't allowing me to make the change. I was only running a single command line so until I ran your batch file with it repeated I wasn't seeing the error messages saying access denied.
Wow it looks amazing now! Now I just need to work out how to set this EDID override...
Update:
So the EDID override was amazingly simple and it did what it's supposed to, but I can't sync my NVidia emitter/glasses to the output from the projector. Its technically 3D but the depth is all messed up, its hard to describe but its a failure.
I thought the glasses might be inverted so I reinstalled the vidia driver so I could re-run the left/right eye test, but the installation fails probably due to the projector and EDID giving the driver conflicting information.
I set everything back to defaults and managed to get the driver installed, but the 3D setup fails at hardware detection, not surprising as I have 2 emitters in place and the EDID cheating the system.
At this stage I might just give up and buy a few more pairs of DLP glasses, because now the depth hack is working the games look great.

This one's a constant loop, it's constantly 'QUERY'ing the Key instead of 'ADD'ing it. If the Value ever changes it promptly restores it to your desired setting, I'm still looking into different methods but I'm happiest with this one so far ...
Save as .bat, Run as Admin, change the Value of $MonitorSize to either match, or lower than your display's size (eg. SET $MonitorSize=120 would be for a 120" DLP screen) ... when run it'll automatically minimize itself to the taskbar and start monitoring the Key's Value for changes.
edit:forgot to mention, it's 32/64 bit compatible also.

code edit: case-insensitive 'FIND', %HEX% would equal 5C and REG QUERY would be 0x5c and raise the errorlevel, which would in turn keep applying the REG ADD.

I thought about that 3 seconds after my post, tried to install the EDID override again to run the medical test and invert my glasses, but it won't let me replace the genuine EDID with the H5360 one, and now for some reason Tomb Raider and Batman Arkham Origins are screwed up. The Left eye shows the main screen OK, but the right eye shows only the bottom half of the screen, but the bottom half covers the top half of the screen, and the bottom half is empty.
I know Batman AO was working fine when I tried it last night because that's what made me realise the depth was too low. Portal 2 and Prototype 2 still run fine though.
I might need to mess about with this more at the weekend.

Question on the depth hack- has anyone changed the permissions instead of hammering the value? It seems like you ought to be able to change the permissions so that only you and not the driver can reset the value. (using Regedit)

Ever since that fiasco of updating my drivers, from NVIDIA dropping 'Generic 3D DLP' support, I've had to lock the "Stereo3D" Key, unfortunately you can't just lock the Values that you need to lock it has to be the whole Key, which locks everything. One of the side effects I've found is that I lose the ability to take screenshots, if I unlock the Key it's fine ... I still have to mess around with it more but I kinda miss actually playing games. Lol. :)
The code I wrote above doesn't write to the registry unless the drivers reset the MonitorSize but it does read the Value ... which I logged at about 100 times a second on my 3DPC. The other one that was capped at 6000, only took 26 seconds to hammer through 6000 attempts to write the registry, it was locked (23:41:22.09 - 23:41:48.66) that's about 230 writes to the registry a second ... wowza! I'm still messing around with it, at least the code I wrote above only writes when necessary.
@enthralled
That's up to you, like I stated above it reads the registry about 100 times a second on my setup but only writes when there's a change to the setting, it's safer than a constant barrage of writes but I'm still testing out different ideas I have ... I updated the code above with a case-insensitive search (/i FIND) so make sure to use that, it only affects certain sizes with letters in the HEX conversion.
edit@nooneingeneral
from what I've found so far, it only changes the setting sometime right after the game starts ... the script catches it and changes it back and then it seems like you can Alt-Tab all you want and the setting doesn't revert back until you close the game and start it up again.

If the game/Alt+Tab'n doesn't reset the MonitorSize then this one should work like a charm, you run it before running the game, it sets the MonitorSize and then watches the Value, when you run the game which changes the MonitorSize, it quickly resets it back to your desired Value and exits ... Save as bat, Run as Admin, and change the Value of $MonitorSize to either match, or lower than your display's size (eg. SET $MonitorSize=120 would be for a 120" DLP screen) ... or set it lower for more Depth, personally I like setting it to half my DLP's screen size and using 50% Depth, that way I can go higher and lower in-game if needed.

... like I said I'm still going to mess around with other ideas, I already had it scripted to a HotKey but unfortunately that required an Alt-Tab to get it to actually refresh in-game.(edit: I've noticed when using this that if it's run by a HotKey while in-game it'll pull you out of the game, you can then just close the 'cmd prompt' and go back into the game and it will be set.)
edit: So far this has been what I'm using, I have it bound to key in my StartUp AutoHotKey script. Using the HotKey I run the script before a game, it drops down into the taskbar and exits when it's done ... the only game I've had an issue with is Far Cry 3, I'm guessing it has something to do with the new Fake3D. With Far Cry 3 the NVIDIA drivers reset the monitor size twice before the game actually starts, so I have to run it after I start the game in Steam and before the game actually starts in Uplay, like I said it sits in the taskbar and disappears as the game starts so you'll know if it runs prematurely.

HDMI override [not sure if this means edid override]? Just need an edid override as far as I know. They are on 3d vision blog.
here is my depth hack. I will set it to 50" since I have no idea how big your sceen is.
Less " = more depth. 100 = 50" . 200 = 100"

I need it to go for a long time cause I am always alt tabbing.

Use this and it will end after one minute so it will end soon as your in-game.

Dude, i hope you tested with your glasses upside down before reinstalling drivers. :D

So I only need to run this once only at windows startup? Or before every game?
@enthralled
That's up to you, like I stated above it reads the registry about 100 times a second on my setup but only writes when there's a change to the setting, it's safer than a constant barrage of writes but I'm still testing out different ideas I have ... I updated the code above with a case-insensitive search (/i FIND) so make sure to use that, it only affects certain sizes with letters in the HEX conversion.
edit@nooneingeneral
from what I've found so far, it only changes the setting sometime right after the game starts ... the script catches it and changes it back and then it seems like you can Alt-Tab all you want and the setting doesn't revert back until you close the game and start it up again.

... like I said I'm still going to mess around with other ideas, I already had it scripted to a HotKey but unfortunately that required an Alt-Tab to get it to actually refresh in-game.(edit: I've noticed when using this that if it's run by a HotKey while in-game it'll pull you out of the game, you can then just close the 'cmd prompt' and go back into the game and it will be set.)
edit: So far this has been what I'm using, I have it bound to key in my StartUp AutoHotKey script.
