Is My H5360 EDID Borked? I Am So Confused!
So, I am trying to decide if my 3D Graphics woes are due to my H5360 projector, Cyberlink PowerDVD 10 Ultra, or something else.

Some of the issues I have are duplicated in threads where it is decided that the EDID is corrupted and it needs to go back to Acer to be addressed. Here are some observations that I am hoping others can tell me if they are normal, or if they are signs that I do have an issue.

Device Manager - I see Generic Non PnP Monitor. I force the H5360 EDID over ride driver every time the projector gets unplugged.
Nvidia Control Panel - Here I see under the resolution and multiple display tab only Digital Display, not H5360. Under the "Set Up Stereoscopic 3D" tab, I see the display actually identified as the H5360, and it is properly identified when I run the 3D Setup Wizard.

I have had the projector for just over a month. All seemed to be working fine until last week, when, for no reason I can isolate, the 3D stopped working. Once I forced the driver in Device Manager, and made a custom resolution I could get 3D in Games working again. I also watched a couple of DVDs in PowerDVD 10 Ultra converted to 3D. I got my first actual 3D Movie, Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs yesterday, but it does not work. Ordinary DVDs will not work in 3D now either.

Anyone point out anything which will confirm if the projector is the problem?

My Rig is below.

I think that the HDMI port on these goes to crap, I had the exact same issues, and switched to a VGA cable with a DVI adapter and now it's detected and everything is fine except it won't let me watch the videos in 3d at 3dvisionlive.com.

I have been doing that. I am now forcing the H5360 override driver in Device Manager. I have managed to get games and movies to show in 3D, and it appears all resolutions are now available in Nvidia Control Panel. I am still concerned that I am not seeing the proper designation.

Contrary to what your curt response may suggest, I do not just post without realizing that I should do some work myself. I have read all of the posts I could find on this forum and others. The responses are inconclusive, which is why I am trying to get information from others to pinpoint if I really have an issue or not. I certainly did for a while.

Thanks for your attempt to keep the forums as clean as possible, however, in this case, your comment was unwarranted.

perhaps you should check the other threads about edid on the h5360 here on the forum and fix it /haha.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':haha:' />

My edid almost died on me 3 times, and even the override fix didn't work. I was able to use all the resolutions and refresh rates, but it was recognised as a Generic Non PnP Monitor. Ended up each time having to use the Entech Powerstrip program to repair the edid inside the projector instead of overriding it. Admittedly the last time even the repair function didn't solve the issue, so I had to reflash the full edid file. That then allowed the nvidia control panel to identify the monitor correctly.

However Windows Device Manager still recognises it as a "Generic Non PnP Monitor".

Every time I unplug the hdmi cable my Samsung 3dtv to plug it into the H5360, I have to install the EDID file, if you wanted one, you can download it from here

It may save you doing some googleing.

Hope it helps

yey now i'm a member of the duff EDID club! :( seriously i just went to plug it in today and now its a 'digital display' to the nvidia panel. The Inf file got the resolutions back, but given Nvidias corporate driven approach its not recognised as a viable 3d projector..

I got my EDID dumped and ready for powerstrip. Question is will i have success doing it with a 260? Finding a lesser card is going to a bit of a hassle /wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />

*EDIT*

I've noticed with the 'Read Data Directly from Monitor' option that i get 'DDC Communication with the monitor failed or is not supported' is that normal for a fudged EDID? I can read directly fine from the Samsung though. Update option does not appear though i'm assuming i will need to pay prior to it showing.

I have an I3-530 based HTPC and it recognizes my H5360 automatically as long as I plug the projector directly into my ENGT430 GPU HDMI port. Have not had any success getting 3D vision to work thru my Denon AVR1611 however. Using the original ENGT430 driver I got an "unsupported display" message when selecting my Denon amp. On the latest driver it gives a list of 5 or 6 devices in the NVidia control panel but none of them will get 3D vision working thru the Denon.

It seems like the NVidia control panel needs a generic option to choose a generic NVidia 3D vision compatible projector when selecting an HDMI port from the Denon amp. Seems that it should work since its HDMI 1.4a as long as the NVidia driver would allow it.

If you haven't checked, make sure that your HDMI cable is 1.4 compatible with your H5360 recognition problem.

I'm connected straight to the projector via a dual dvi - hdmi cable. it was absolutely fine the day before and has been for months. I ended up buying Powerstrip, applying for a pin code and its been nearly a WEEK without a responce from them. :(

Its just as well that it is detected perfectly fine on its vga port, but i dislike using it as the resolution switching/detection with games is not perfect and i constant get a '3d mode' message from the projector unlike on the HDMI. Ah well i think i'll probably shoot a request to ACER and see how long it would take to get it sorted by them. I can't not have on weekends as thats when it comes out for friends to enjoy /wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />

All sorted now thankfully :) seems the original email failed to find its way over the intartubes /wacko.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
EDID update did the job and it was definitely preferable to sending it off to Acer. Much better to have a DIY option /biggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

well, i have an emachines v700 (the same as 5360)
and have edid failure.
It doesn't show the boot screen (640x480) and in winxp
i have problem with 1280x720 60Hz mode, it show only the
part of the resolution, and i can scroll on it with mouse.
120Hz not work even when use the 5360.inf edid file.
It only works in win7. Very strange.
Is my edid broken? If yes, can i fix it at home?
thx
