There are old 3D movies like Jaws 3D and newer movies like Journey to the Center of the Earth and Friday the 13th in 3D. There is also a new movie currently on the big screen Monsters vs Aliens 3D.
My question is what works with 3D vision and the Nvidia Stereoscopic 3D player. Will older movies that were used with red/blue cardboard glasses work with this or is it just the newer movies on DVD?
There is also a new Final Destination movie in 3D and I didn't know if it would work also.
Has anyone tried any of these movies or have any information on what works and what doesnt?
I already plan to get additonal glasses to play the games together with my boys, but it would be cool to hang with the family and watch a 3D movie on DVD.

Windows 10 x64 Pro
1 x 980 GTX
3D Vision on 65" DLP
The anaglyph (red/blue glasses) movies will allways work because they can be played with WinAmp / Windows Media Player (standard on Win computers) etc.
Just play them like any 2D movie and put on the red/blue glasses.
3D movies You can buy are (up until now) usually interlaced (odd lines to one eye, even lines to the other) or sidebyside/field sequential (double video flipped to each eye) and works with Your Nvidia shutter glasses.
So if Nvidia Stereoscopic 3D Player can play interlaced 3D or sidebyside 3D videos then it can most likely play the ones You buy.
What is really kool though is that You can make Your own:
1. Just place 2 cameras side by side and hit the record button.
2. upload the 2 videos to Your computer.
3. load/sync/cut/adjust/save them as a 3D home video with StereoMovie Maker: http://stereo.jpn.org/eng/stvmkr/ (free!) (You may have to convert them first - I do)
4. Play the home video in 3D (just like the ones You buy).

Well, the answer is yes and no. Since they added the ability to open DVD movies with the player, it works, but is useless at this point because they can't seem to get the aspect ratio correct. The videos available for download are too skinny when switched to full screen, and the DVD movies are way too wide. It takes a 4x3 format movie and makes it like half height and double width. Even the window options are not correct, but you can at least get the right aspect to watch it that way. nVidia doesnt' appear to be too worried about it, as they don't seem to be doing much about it. I'm not sure if they ever will, I haven't seen much feedback from them in this forum lately. Looks like I wasted my money on these movies at this point... For anaglyph movies it's no problem cause they use the red/blue glasses for effect and has nothing to do with 3DVision. Just make sure to use something other than the nVidia player if you plan on going full screen...
It's about time they concentrated on this issue, I would really like to see my movies in 3D, one of the reasons I bought the system. There are 2 options the way I see it, FIX the full screen aspect or make it work in windowed mode. Either would be fine with me, but gitrdun asap.

So what movies actually support this style of 3d? The only ones I've seen in the store have been with the red and blue glasses. Would love to pick up some movies that work with this technology.

You can also get the TV 3D decoders for a reasonable price if you really want to see them properly. However, as with any 3D system, it seems that LCD TV's are not really supported... Read carefully about the systems and what type of display is required. If you have a compatible system, you can get the whole family involved in watching 3D. Much better experience than the anaglyph method.

Sorry, if I'm in the wrong place, but here is my question:
I own a Samsung DLP HL67A750 and a gray-haired Desktop Dell. I assume that the Dell needs to be replaced or supported by an faster CPU and Graphic Board in order to play any kind of 3D game or even still photos.
I'm looking for advice on the recommended "value" computers and video boards (desktop, notebook, even, maybe, a nettop w/ION? ) with enough umpt to handle any early testing work. It would be located near the TV to begin testing some "homebrew" 3D home-movie ideas.
Full 3D Gaming power may not be necessary for a while--if ever.
Step 1. NVIDIA's chart of supported TV monitors doesn't seem to show the Samsung. Am I looking in the right place? It sounds like some members have Samsung and NVIDIA working in sync.

Yes, it will work fine, nVidia just needs to update the list on the web site. Although you can use either AMD or Intel, I suggest the Intel Q6600 for a value cpu and a comparable MB. For a budget card get a GTX 260 since it has dropped to a reasonable price. Core 216 versions are going for as little as $180. Have fun

Not the red/blue ones either. But active shutter supported films.

I don't think You can rent them.
Some You can buy but like You say most of them has never been heard of/kids movies/anaglyph 3D.
I have no idea why it's not possible to buy Sharks 3D as sidebyside(pageflipping) high res 3D movie.
Or Journey to the center of the earth or U23D or Bloody Valentine etc.
Some of the older ones (like Haunted Castle) is interlaced 640*480 which even a old digital camera costing 120$ can do better.
The only one I can recommend is not sold anymore: "Three Oceans 3D" (40 min diving home video).
You can get some similar 3D clips here:

various 3D videos: http://www.3d.wep.dk/3dgallery.html
but none of them are movies.
Hopefully they will start selling real 3D movies (sidebyside/pageflipping and high res) in the future.
Oh well. Thanks for the information.

True, but in this case it's not Hollywood that's behind, it's Japan (as in Sony, Samsung, etc). There are plenty of 3-d movies out there, more being released every day now.... but the technology to watch them at home is still in development and won't hit the consumer market for years.
Hopefully if nvidia's 3d technology takes off the way it appears poised to, both Hollywood and the tech sector will take notice and apply 3d Vision to the Blu-Ray market (with the right licensing and profit sharing, of course ;) )

Have fun

I'd love to experience one but none of the movies at ultimate3dheaven (suggested above) have ever been heard of.

You can get some similar 3D clips here:

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=CDQPCS2Q
various 3D videos: http://www.3d.wep.dk/3dgallery.html
but none of them are movies.
Hopefully they will start selling real 3D movies (sidebyside/pageflipping and high res) in the future.

I figure this a result of the video game industry's accelerating growth over the movie biz. Hollywood is behind on the times.
