Good evening everyone,
I've got a problem with watching 3d BR on my new Asus PG278QR.
Whenever I start a 3d movie my monitor switches to 144hz/165hz.
The pyramid is working fine though and only the parts in the back are blurry(it's syncing).
All my games still work fine as well as my old Benq XL2420T(it's a 120hz monitor...)
As soon as i quit the player it switches back to 120hz?!
I've tried reinstalling the driver with DDU, the display driver from the Asus website,I've tried to force 120hz with Nvidia inspector and 3D fix manager settings.
I'm mostly using Potplayer, Cyberlink shows the menus in 3d but not the movie.
Same goes for Kodi.
Has anyone got an Idea how I could keep my display from switching to 144/165hz for movies?
I was quite excited to watch movies on the bigger screen...

If you are using the trial for PowerDVD, only the menus are 3D. Perhaps see if WinDVD has a trial.
If you are using PotPlayer I assume you are ripping them first or pirating them, AFAIK it does not have any official key decryption for Blue-ray discs. Anyways, you can use Nvidia's player and search the forums on how to update it.

Player, if you wanna skimp, buy a cheap desktop player.

Thank you for your answers.
The interesting thing is though, that it works just like it used to, when I plug the cable into my old Benq...
I have been wathing BRs and DVDs with it for about 5 years.
I've noticed that the green light on the Asus is flashing whenever the movie starts, but is then "resetting" itself to max. hz.
It seems something is "taking over" the output, so the monitor isn't really recognizing it as a 3D source anymore.
The forum will not let me quote you has .,.,.,.,.,, hence the ..
Try setting the desktop on the Asus to 1080P, it might be struggling to upconvert the resolution from the encoded 1080P resolution.
Are you perhaps using the Dual Link DVI connection on the BenQ and of course DP on the Asus? If so try the DP on the BenQ as well.
If DP on both, perhaps for the hell of it, override the Asus EDID with the BenQ, just to see if it plays nice then.
Are both showing the same thing in the HDCP tab of NvCP?
I haven't found an option yet to change my username...
I tried setting EVERYTHING to 1080p, just as I tried setting everything to 120HZ(from windows, to NVCP to the players...
I never used a DVI cable, I can just plug out the DP cable of the Asus and into the Benq and everything works as it used to ...
I can even use DSR to up/downscale the video.
All my games work just fine aswell, no matter the display's resolution.
It seems like something is trying to optimise my experience by setting my framerate to the highest possible.
Could this be related to the Direct3D 11 renderer? I have to choose this one, otherwise 3d won't work.
As for overriding the EDID, any good tutorials for that?
Yes, they are both showing the same thing in the HDCP tabb...

There's a thread to do so in the Forum Feedback sub-forum
You could try CRU and remove any references to 144Hz. Perhaps that would do the trick.
Sometimes depending on the OS/Driver Version/Display, there's an option in the NvCP under "test stereoscopic 3D" "apply this refresh rate to all games", try it

Thanks mate!
After deleting the 144/165hz resolutions with CRU it works!
Downside seems to be, that I need to reinstall the driver every time I want to play a game with 144/165 hz...
Anyway, that was very helpful!
Btw.: I took care of the username thing aswell.
