Glad it's working for y'all.
One thing I've been fighting with lately is Windows Update. It keeps auto-installing 306.97 and killing my 3DTV Play. I finally turned off the option to install automatically, so I can deny any future updates until we get things sorted out.
This was driving me nuts until I figured it out. I would play a game in 3D one night and the next day when I fired up the game I'd have no 3D. When I checked my settings I'd find that 3DTV Play was all greyed out again and that my drivers were updated.
It took a ton of reboots, uninstalls and clearing out my windows update download data to get rid of that 306 driver, but I finally got it out. What ever the system was doing it also reset my monitor .inf to a generic display so I had to update that too before I got things working again.
So, in short, watch out for Windows Update!

question here:
i am wondering if i should buy the 3dtv serial code ($40) or a Emitter for Nvidia® 3D Vision System. seems like both can activate the 3dtv($50 on ebay).
will the emitter let newest drivers work in this monitor? or it will still only support the driver under 295.xx or under.

Thus far, this Sony 3D Display will only work with 2xx and under. If you are on windows 8, there was a version that it works under but it was an old beta:
http://www.oldapps.com/nvidia.php?system=windows_8_x64
BTW< I have submitted a request to have the monitor officially supported. I have a 650TI which isn't supported by anything except 3xx and I'm on windows 8 so I'm double up poo creek.

I picked up this monitor as a blackfriday sale for only 150$ CAD.
And now my computer is "Too new" to support the work around to make the 3d work... (I have a gtx670 so I cannot install the older 2XX drivers).
I would buy the 3dtv play license right away, but the screen is not supported...
Did anyone get any news about when it will be supported? or... if it will ever be supported?
Thank you all! This monitor is amazing... but I can't wait to use it at its full capacity as a 3d monitor and not just a 3d television for the ps3.
matlem, unfortunately no new information, you are in the exact boat I am currently. EDID hacks do not seem to work like before however I was able to get 3dtv play to show up with a inf. Unfortunately that inf had settings for a 3dtv that apparently didn't work with the sony display as when it went into 3d it would just say "unsupported". I'm sure the timing's etc are bad.
nVidia white listed only certain devices and I'm not sure how forgiving it is. I can tell you for certain that merging the sony edid settings into a support inf file blinding doesn't do the trick....it will disable 3dtv play.
Maybe some partial or custom edid hacking will do the trick but that is above my pay scale. I've already spent more time on it than if I would have just bought a fully supported tv/monitor.

I am in the same boat with a new 660 video card. Works fine on my LG 3D TV, but I would rather not tie up my TV and prefer to game at my computer desk with my PlayStation 3D Display (another black Friday deal). I really wish NVIDIA would throw us a bone here, especially since I spent several hundred on their video card and $40 for 3D Play...I can only assume that if someone was able to hack together a work around before and, it appears, that there is somewhat of a demand for this that the effort involved to support this monitor would be minimal.

The Playstation monitor has been out for more than 12 months.
Nvidia is aware of it's existance.
They have so far shown no intention of supporting the monitor in any way whatsoever.
What would make you believe that support will be added in the near future?

Thanks to everybody using my assembler it warms my heart.
To have a critical piece of code that everyone can enjoy!
What more can you ask for?
[quote="MisterMe"]Update to may last post. I got the display working in games too. Many thanks to all those that have worked on this so far.
As you may recall from my last post, I had 3D video working but my 3D control panel was greyed out. I followed the directions I found on this page:
http://forums.redflagdeals.com/nvidia-3dtv-play-mod-sony-playstation-3d-display-1175972/
I replace the DENON AVAMP .inf with the NVIDIA Unsupported 3DTV (EDID Override) available on that site.
Windows control panel showed the change, but the Nvidia control panel still showed my monitor as HDMI Blu-Ray 3D. I then rolled back my GeForce driver with the 296.10 package (clean install). Finally, I uninstalled the Nvidia 3DTV Play software and reinstalled it. Once I reinstalled the 3DTV Play trial, I got the option to set depth, hot keys, and the laser sight. It also shows that the trial is active for 14 days and the Stereoscopic 3D display type is now listed as 3D TV Play.

Hi, we bought have the same video card GTX 460, I have a Phenom 2 x4 965 3.6ghz, how did you made it to work? Are you in windows 8 please guide me, I tried that inf thing it always tells me I can't run that inf 32bit driver on a windows 64bit system. And my GTX 460 comes with original cd that has a 2xx.00 driver but unfortunately, I can't install it on Windows 8 it says incompatible driver.

Sony discontinued this 3D 24inch model. My assumption is because of all the problems with the model. All the store where trying to get rid of inventory. Best buy is sold out, Gamestop and Sony are sold out + Amazon. Check out Sony's website. http://store.sony.com/p/24%22-PlayStation-3D-Display-Bundle/en/p/PS398078
NVidia probably pulled any possible 3d support due to this reason. Anyways my 3d display started getting the dreaded flashing in and out black screen. Does not happen all the time but it is annoying a hell. Might have to take it back.
I'm on a 660 GTX myself. Tried everything to get 3d games to work on PC. We just need modified drivers.

I think we just need the correct inf, it worked for my friend's LG 3Dtv so perhaps it will work for this. Somebody just needs to make it happen or experiment with a bunch of sony infs to see what works. There are a few in an edid override thread at Avsforumsdotcom. I'm going to start experimenting.

I have my winXP dell (geforce 6800xt) connected to the PS 3D display using a dvi to hdmi cable. I don't want 3d or anything for pc mode. I just want the colors too look right and not be so washed out. EVERYTHING looks bad... just washed out... I've tried using the nvidia control panel to adjust color and brightness but everything is still washed out to scale tho.. Problem is there no matter what I do. The monitor is recognized as generic and has default June 2001 ms driver.. The 6800xt has the most current driver.
Is there a fixed driver that makes this monitor look good like its supposed to??

I also just got the PS3 Display recently, and I made an account here because I want to give a shout out and thank you to MisterMe. Great info.
I happened to have a 460SE, and these steps have enabled everything for me. It looks awesome and I can't wait to spend more time with it. It looks like the $40 for 3DTV Play might be worth it after all.
Cheers
