Why is 3D Vision 2 not compatible with the GTX 880M?
  2 / 2
Based on what's already been said, The only other tidbit I can offer is to manually extract the driver you WANT to use, 352.86? Just a bit of fore-warning - It's a crappy driver anyway, specially for 3D and GTA V - but also messes with you-tube video playback in the form of green/flashing videos. That's not to say it doesn't work well for some or even most of us users, those are just my (and a few others here) experiences with it, but I fought with it for 4 day's trying to get GTA V stable and ended up going back to 350.12. That Grass is Nice when it works! But I digress and apologize for the de-railing of the main issue here, 1) Manually extract the driver using 7-Zip - make sure the 3D Vision installers are there (should be 2) 2) If they are, and they should be, re-install normally. 3) If it doesn't show up, go back to the folder where you extracted the driver (or c:\nvidia if you ran the installer first and didn't delete the extractions) and open up the 3DVision Install portion and run the exe to install it separately. If you get that far, let us know and we go from there. ~Nutz

I just rolled forward, at first I tried installing without the 3D options, it didn't work. Then I rolled back to the OEM's driver and it worked again. Then I just did a regular update and it seems to work this time. I've got my fingers crossed that it will stay but so far everything seems smooth. Thanks to all who replied with help.

It sounds like in this case you can't use the generic driver because of the OEM. Your workaround seems like the way to go. Just to reiterate- 880M works fine for 3D Vision, NVidia did not pull support.
