Hey guys, was wondering if you'd be able to advise :)
Basically I have a new machine with an EVGA (Nvidia) Geforce GTX 660 Ti graphics card, connected to a standard HD monitor as well as an HD 3D TV. Most games work fine in 3D on my TV but for some reason the stereoscopic options are greyed out in both Tomb Raider and Hitman, will buying 3DTV play remedy this?
Cheers,

Yes. Nvidia3D is only included with the emitter. You can buy the emitter and that includes FREE 3DTV play (which imo is a better deal)
3DTV play (standalone software) sounds like it is quirky, and you can only have 5 activations (and it sounds like people have problems when OCing or doing upgrades with activations).
Also, unlike 3DTV play, you can always sell the emitter in the future.
For ref, you can only use 3Dvision over DVI and 3DTV is for HDMI connections with TV's such as yours. Most TV's should be compatible.

Cheers, so the options will definitely no longer be greyed out? It makes it seem it's just for laptops and you don't need it for desktop PCs? Sorry, why do you think the £70 emitter's a better deal than the £26 serial key? I won't be needing to install it on any other machines. Just wanted to confirm everything before buying, thanks again!

Can you find a second hand emitter without glasses? I think it's a better deal if you can get it for less then that, maybe £40-50 max. Why? you can always sell it again when your done or upgrade (maybe £20). Also, for me I would hate to loose my licence (I tinker a lot with my PC, and would quickly eat up the 5 machine install limit).
The options are only greyed out because you don't have an NVidia 3d monitor attached to your GPU or an HDMI and 3DTV play software attached to a 3DTV.
Anyway, if you can't get the emitter on it's own significantly cheaper then £70 just go for the serial, as with that price the emitter makes no sense to buy.
EDIT: ok. just looked on ebay, £40 but with £35 postage... lol, joke. Ok serial is likely better candidate. you can buy glasses and an emitter for not much more than that, so its a complete rip off. *NOTE, NVidia glasses will not work with your TV so don't even think about it ;-)

I have a 3D monitor too, (but it's not full HD so I'm replacing it) maybe that's got something to do with it...
Cheers foreverseeking, I'll grab a license in that case :)
Shit. Still greyed out in both games, do u guys have any idea why this could be? I've got the refresh rate set to 24hz so that it matches the TV, I've also tried turning other settings off but I can't get the box to be tick-able, driving me crazy!

@crimsonight,
With Tomb Raider you have to check the "Full Screen" + "Exclusive Full Screen" option.....its the only way that 3D stereo tab works.
Hitman Absolution, for me at least 3D stereo option its always greyed out, no matter what i do, I use 3DTV Play....i think there its some problem with 3DTV Play...some other user with 3D vision Kits can activate 3D without problem. The game have some Lights issues in 3D anyways.

They're both checked :( Massively sucks as I can't play the 2 best games I've got (graphically) in 3D + it turned out to be a pretty pointless purchase

3D Vision also works via VGA or HDMI on projectors.(frame sequential)
I fully agree that the better option is to buy an e-bay 3D Vision emitter, since they've been selling for about the same price as 3DTV Play.

You never answered this ... was 3D already working just not in Tomb Raider and Hitman: Absolution? (I assume) Some of us have been having trouble enabling 3D in Tomb Raider, not sure about Hitman though.

Have you tried changing the resolution to 720p60? I presume you're trying 1080p24 from the 24Hz you're saying you're setting it at. A make and model number might help someone offer up some more advice, as they may have experience with it.

Answer TsaebehTs question, and we might get to the bottom of it. But as far as i understand you simply can NOT use nvidia 3D unless you have an emitter, which you don't, so by having this 3Dtv play will let you play all your favourite games on your 3D tv. Don't feel down yet, we'll solve your problem i'm sure, and i'm confident you havn't wasted a single penny of your money. :-)
