Hi all! Long time, no see... I'm Stefan, 44 years old from Småland in Sweden! I'm an electrician/repair and serviceman at work. I've been a casual stereogamer since almost 20 years. I started with a pair of e-dim glasses and quickly advanced to a dual projection rig which I still use today. I skipped the nvidia 3d-vision part entirely though.

Hello, My name is Dave Keller, 32. I live in Emporium Pennsylvania. I've been gaming using 3D Vision since about late 2010-early 2011 roughly, right after the GTX 580 3GB came out. Now I fiend for 3D gaming. I've tried playing 3D games using consoles, but the low frame rates and horrible image quality is a major turn off. I've also tried very hard to convert some of my friends to 3D and PC gaming but most of them are console fan boys or for some reason don't find 3D gaming appealing all the time. Which I find hard to understand. I find gaming in 3D adds a level of immersion that makes the games far more enjoyable. It's every bit as important to me as surround sound and high resolution. I used to game in 3D surround, but I've found that I prefer the image quality enhancements of DSR over that of the wider screens of surround. I actually prefer to game in 3d using DSR to gaming on my 4K monitor. In fact, I'm planning on buying a 2560x1440 3D monitor and either selling my 4K monitor or using it as a backup or a TV. Seriously though, how awesome is 3D gaming? It's nice to find some like minded individuals who obviously have very sophisticated taste. I've been into PC gaming since Doom 3 came out. And I've been hooked ever since. Spending most of my money on upgrading my computer every couple of years. Although, I've found I've become a bit more patient in my old age and can wait a bit for something better to come out instead of spending a small fortune on something that doesn't improve performance by a large margin. I also enjoy fast cars, imports, muscle cars and the like. Fast computers and fast cars. That's what I'm all about. I got my badass PC and my Evo X, those are my passions. Overclock my PC and crank up the boost!

Hey, I'm Dave, 35. I was born in Poland, but grew up in Melbourne, Australia. A part of me is still Polish though, and in fact we're raising our daughter to be bilingual - my wife speaks to her in English, and I speak to her in Polish. I have a degree in Multimedia and Digital Arts, and I worked for several years as a web designer, graphic designer, and animator. 6 months ago, I quit my job and became an indie game developer. It's a lot of work, and it's scary and uncertain, but I'm loving it. Apart from my beloved "game & watch" handhelds, and some console that we owned briefly in 1984 (I was too young to know what brand it was), I've always gamed on computers - first a Commodore 64, and then PC from 1990. I fell in love with 3D in 2001, watching animated IMAX movies. But I never really considered 3D gaming, because my PCs were always on the cheap side, and often could barely run the latest games even in 2D. However, Once I got the disposable income that comes with a real job, I started spending more and more on my PC, and it was only a matter of time until I tried 3Dvision. As with most people, I've never looked back.

Hello everyone, nice to meet you ! Thank you RAGEdemon for creating this topic. I really enjoyed reading everyone's story :-) Such a diversity in paths that led us to share that same passion for stereoscopic 3D. My name is Laurent, I'm 39 and I live in south of France, where I grew up. I have a degree in IT (image engineering) and worked about 7 years as a developer for a web-conferencing platform. Although that was a while ago (I now work for myself in real estate) I still have my passion for science, technology and computers in particular (PC). I also have a passion for weight lifting (Natural bodybuilding) and music (piano, synthesizers - my band is KALISIA - progressive metal) My pseudo Aquarank is a twisted wordplay : Aqua (Spanish) = water (English) = L'eau (French) Rank (English) = rang (French) Put together, "L'eau rang" sounds like my name "Laurent"... Although I'm a long time reader - almost daily - of the 3D Vision board, I only registered recently, and have very few posts. My story as a gamer : I got my first PC when I was 9, and the first games of my life were King's Quest, Lode Runner, Zaxxon...) At that time I also had an Atari 2600 console, but I almost never used it because of the poor games, poor graphics and poor joystick it had. PC was much better :-) I'm a PC gamer since then, but surprisingly, I discovered stereoscopic gaming in 1987 (I was 12) when a friend of mine lent me his Amstrad CPC 6128 for a week, with few games. Among which was Relief Action, a revolution for me ! My first 3D game (wireframes...) and - crazy thing - it was sold with blue/red glasses : this game had an anaglyph mode !! I was blown away ! 8-D Quake III looked so beautiful and incredibly fluid in 3D @2048x1536 on my Iiyama Vision Master Pro 510 (great CRT at the time). Since then, I almost never played any game without stereo 3D. When I upgraded my graphic card, I bought the Stereo kit from Elsa (3D Revelator), and later again the first kit from nVidia when it came out. Today I'm running a SLI of GTX 580, but plan to upgrade real soon. I have many expectation for the Occulus Rift, but I don't want to be disappointed, so I'll probably wait until it's really solid. (4K screen maybe ?) But in the end I strongly believe it will one day become the next platform for gaming, movies, working, business... a whole virtual life (a bit scary I admit...) At this time, I'm just starting Max Payne 3, and waiting for The Witcher 3 and GTA 5 !!

I'm Edgars 32 years old. Living in Riga, Latvia. Gaming since early 90's on Dendy console, but 3d vision discovered only in Dec-2013, because in our country there is no way to give a try in shops or find some information about 3d vision, so I decided to buy and try, and after that the gaming opened for me in new way and I loved 3d with all my heart. Nice to meet you ALL! And BIG thanks to those nicest guys who keep 3d alive!!!

My name is Bo3b, the 3 is silent. But my Mom calls me Bryan. And in video games, I'm known as Arf Wignack. If you see a high score with ARF, that's me. That's not too likely except for Pengo or RipOff. I'm 55, and have worked at all sorts of jobs and positions, including developer technical support at Apple, then later fixing bugs in Macsbug the debugger. If you remember the T-Mobile SideKick, I worked on the email and camera apps. I'm a professional software developer and do contract work now, mostly Java. I've got a degree in EE, and found that it was all a bit too abstract for me, so at the same time I took a mail order electronic repair course from NRI and built my own color TV. It's hard to say which has been more useful. I live in San Carlos CA, which is in Silicon Valley, and am pretty burnt out on how poorly software is developed here (schedule first, features second, quality dead last; always), so in an odd twist I'm on hiatus to work on open-source tools for free. It's been incredibly satisfying to be able to actually fix a dozen DX11 games with Mike. I really had no idea what to expect, and just pressed ever onward. For gaming, I got to be around when it was invented essentially. I've got an original Pong console, and spent many hours playing Space Invaders and all the rest, when they were new. Speaking of which- if you like classic arcade games, you should attend California Extreme. In High School I had the opportunity to write software on an IBM 360 with punch cards. I wrote a program to make the high-speed line printer sing the Star Spangled Banner. In COBOL. Bought an Apple ][ when they first came out and got sucked into the vortex where I have lived ever since. Console gaming is nice, but I like the freedom of the PC. I went to the NVision '08 conference where they introduced 3D Vision. At the time I wasn't all that impressed with the technology (no convergence in demos...), but bought the glasses the next year anyway. Since then, it's all 3D all the time. Even had an HTC Evo 3D, which was great until the software update ruined the 3D. I've found this thread to be remarkably interesting, and appreciate all the comments.

Im Oleg, 33. Living in St-Peterburg, Russia. Been an avid gamer since I remember myself starting with ZX-Spectrum in early 90s. First saw 3D in Avatar iMAX. Was very impressed and promised myself some day to buy set-up to enjoy this thing every day. Several months later I won big in poker, bought HMZ-T1, then top PC with 3D Vision 2. And got into 3D gaming. It was a refreshing experience that made me excited again about games. Even though I prefer playing in 3D Im not one of those guys who refuse to play games without 3D support. Actually most of my gaming time is in usual 2D (I mostly play online and its Defiance and Marvel Heroes 2015 lately). I make a living by writing articles about MMORPGs and playing poker.

Hello everyone, I agree this is a great idea. As one might guess my name is Jason. I live in Silver Spring, MD which is just outside Washington, DC. It is cool to see that one of the very impressive DX11 fixers, mike_ar69, is basically in the same area as me and that bablank is not that far away. My handle here is rather unimaginative: 20910 is my mailing zip code. I am 44 years old and have a BS degree in Mathematics from Rensselear Polytechnic Institute (RPI) which is in Troy, NY. My concentration was in Numerical Computing. I was born and raised in Nashville, TN but moved to the Washington, DC area after college in 1994. I have lived in the area ever since spending time in DC proper as well as various close-in suburbs of both MD and VA. Despite studying numerical computing I stumbled into a job in a large telecommunications company where I have worked since 1994. I currently manage a team that supports custom contract billing solutions. We don't do the actual coding, but we give the requirements to the programmers, test and verify the work. We also support the solutions for the customers. I got into gaming rather late. As a kid I never even cared for games like pac-man, etc. I did always like messing with computers though. My first computer was a Timex Sinclair 1000 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Timex_Sinclair_1000). It had either 1 or 2 kb of memory and you stored programs on a cassette tape. It is amazing to see how far we have come since then! I have been playing with computers since. My first jump into gaming was when Fallout 3 came out. The advertising caught my interest because of the Washington, DC setting. I had a laptop which was a top of the line Dell XPS at the time so I could run the game but not that well. When I launched the game I had no clue about the WASD keys, but I was hooked on the game. That led me to learning about building my own gaming machines. I have been upgrading that computer over time bits and pieces to get what I have today (see signature). My CPU is getting a bit dated I guess but I spent so much money on that i7 980X I am just not ready to give it up. Like NateDogg24, seeing Avatar in IMAX 3D was what turned me onto 3D. I actually got a first generation 3D Vision setup and played Avatar first with it. Visually it was pretty at the time but I hated the game. Fallout New Vegas was the first game I played for a long time in 3D. Fortunately I quickly found out about the helixmod site which has been a blessing to this small community. After the 3D Vision 2 gear came out I upgraded and it was a huge improvement. Like others I don't only play in 3D but I do prefer it when possible. It is so much better when done right (and done right usually means the brilliant community fixes a broken game). I even recently created a Win 7 boot partition so that I could play Dragon Age Inquisition in 3D. That has been a pain to get working well (I am still not there), but many on this forum have been helping me along. One day I hope to find some time to try to learn about these fixes and try to contribute myself, but these days if I get a hour or so to game I feel fortunate.

I then bought a 3D Vision kit to watch pics in 3D on my CRT monitor. Then I got the newer W3 model and bought a new display, a BenQ XL2420TX which came with an updated 3D vision kit. I''m still dreaming of a W5 but... oh well. Since many months now I only play my games in 3D with a few exceptions. I also have a few 3D vids on YouTube but 3D playback is broken now, damn Firefox/YouTube/Nvidia. I created a tutorial to help some family members learn the cross-view method and shared it for everyone to practice. My first 3D love was a Viewmaster too! Though I think it took me years to realise that it was 3D. Initially, I was too young to be aware of such technical things, and all I knew was that when I looked into it, the worlds of Peter Pan, Maya the Bee, the Muppets, and others, just came to life. It was one of my favourite toys. I still remember the slightly glowy, faintly vibrating quality of a stereoscopic image in the Viewmaster - a feeling that came back to me immediately when first seeing 3Dvision. I guess that vibrating image is technically a flaw - a minor limitation of artificial 3D. But I really like it. On another note, I'm quite amazed by just how many people here have a technical/computer background. Like, almost everyone, it seems. I definitely didn't expect that.
My name is Bo3b, the 3 is silent.
I googled you a few weeks ago (only half-stalking, I promise), and one of the first things that came up was some years-old thread somewhere about people who have names with numbers in them. One person said he worked with a guy at Apple in the 80s who was called bo3b. Obviously, that was you. But interestingly, he said that you even had "bo3b" on your driver's license. Is that true?

Hi I'm John, I been an electronics junkie since high school building Health Kit Radios. My part time job was working at a video store which sold Atari, Intellvision and the Bally Arcade Unit. Later I opened my own computer store which sold Atari ST and Commodore Amiga hardware and software. After my business I worked for a company doing IT support and one day a friend of mime introduce me to his supervisor at major video game company. I was explaining the difference between video cards Rendition, Power VR and Voodoo. I remender telling my friend's supervisor he should purchase a voodoo card for gaming the next thing I know I have an offer to run a test lab at a major video game company (Heaven). During my time at the company every one was making a 3D video cards, joysticks, and sound cards. Direct x3 to 7 windows didn't have the driver base it has now nothing worked support need to be built into the game for each device. After leaving the gaming company I presued employment in the IT field. Cisco and Windows networking over the years I purchased almost every gadget to enchance my video gaming I never had a good return on any gadget till I got involved with Nvidia 3D vision. This tech really brings games to life.

There are other unfounded stories that I legally changed my name that way. I've always described it as my nickname. I do make sure that my corporate identities know me as 'bo3b' though, and the most amusing one was Microsoft. My badge and email and all internal systems knew me as 'bo3b', but their payroll system was still running on some software written on 8086's and it blew their mind. That created the scenario where they couldn't do anything except paper. I even reported it as a bug of course, because in an international company like Microsoft there are plenty of non-Roman characters in people's names. Nope. Everyone had to have another alias, or get their paychecks mailed. Part of the reason I use this nickname is to look for lame software. You would probably not be surprised at the number of lame-ass websites that won't accept a '3' in a login. My question is always, "why could you possibly care what I'm called?"
