Ryse - Son of Rome
  8 / 11
I tried to play Ryse Son of Rome with Max Payne 3 profile. The 3D kicks in, but it doesn't have any depth. I tried it with Sniper Elite 3 profile, it has depth, but it's really bad, with locked 50% depth and glitches. So for now I'll have to endure playing it in 2D...

I actually started working on fixing this game a while back, and got the first scene about 90% fixed, although one of the remaining issues is certain objects flicker which is pretty darn annoying, and couldn't really find a working solution. Unfortunately the game does not dump every shader in the game in the beginning, it only dumps them as they are used, so whereas I was able to fix a large number of similar shaders by searching for shaders with matching code patterns, they were only for that first scene that I had played up until. That means that I essentially have to play through the entire game and fix it stage by stage... which certainly doesn't make it impossible, just a bit more time consuming. Anyone know what the length of the game is? I'm guessing 5-10 hours, maybe? I kinda got sidetracked by working on Street Fighter V, Xcom 2, and a couple other small projects, plus been playing a ton of The Division, which has kept me from working on any fixes whatsoever. Now that I'm kinda bored of that game hopefully I can get back to working on this and put out something that makes this at least playable in 3D, even if it's just at that 90% mark with annoying flickering. Here's a few screenshots I took to show how great this game can look in 3D. (don't mind that Marius' armor looks black, for some reason when I disable the HUD shaders to get clear screenshots it does that, but in normal gameplay it's the proper golden colour)

First time is a little more then 7 hours. Cutscenes is maybe like 2 hours of it. I believe its like 8 areas/loadtimes if that helps. [2 of them might be considered repeats]

Although it got generally mediocre reviews Ryse has its place in my alltime top-ten and of course in my heart ;-). I absolutely love this game. I love this game so much that I even played it on my XBox One at home (normally I can't play in 2D at home. It always feels like time wasted because of the opportunity to play in glorious 3D instead). So I usually only play console via game streaming/remote play when not at home. When Ryse was released there was no XBox game streaming so the only way was to play it at home. To cut a long story short DJ-RK: Your screenies look awesome and I am literally begging you: do not falter, do not stumble....even if doubts may arise on your journey. Even if detestable issues are showing their evil face. I am willing to take them all (as long as it is still playable somehow) - Senatus Populusque Romanus -

@DJ-RK Use this in the d3dx.ini for the flickering. This is DSS solution....and the texture are the same for all CryEngine games i've fixed....so i suppose will work here also. DSS mentioned how I could possibly find another hash value, but lo and behold, the frame analysis function in 3DMigoto doesn't work on this game, which prevents me from fixing a few things here.

A combination of things have held me back. I was spread across a few projects all around the same time (Xcom2, SFV, STALKER CoP), and have taken a more focused approach to fixing, which has been having me provide results rather than promises. Ran into some other issues with this fix that have been a bit frustrating (biggest one being shadows being completely fixed in some areas, and those same fixes completely removing shadows in other areas or causing massive flickering of them), which essentially bumped this game to the bottom of the priority list. Also, I've been spending a bit more time out in the real world, with real people, and dealing with real issues, etc. But, it's essentially the last major WIP I have left on my plate, and I'd love to see it through to completion, so I've been thinking about revisiting it for the umpteenth time.

Thanks for the info DJ-RK. I know it was Lohan that asked but I'm interested too, just don't like to hassle anyone. I just upgraded and I'm on 4K too, can't believe how good Ryse looks. I know the game was slated in some quarters but it's simple and it's a work of art. Good luck whatever you decide to do!

I've posted my fix to the blog. It's not perfect (I had to concede that certain issues just can't be fixed at this present time without getting the help I need, but haven't been able to get), but it's definitely good enough for me to put out a release for everyone that has so patiently waited. Hope you all enjoy! http://helixmod.blogspot.ca/2016/09/ryse-son-of-rome.html
