Well being that you were previously talking about trying to get 3D Vision working with your display, my first thought is that you are trying to rewrite to the eeprom or something stupid.
You could easily Google EDID override and find out that your original EDID is safe.

You do not need a backup, you just uninstall the override that you installed.
