Future of 3D Vision Support (Official announcement from NVIDIA)
  27 / 42
I'm pretty sure we will need DarkStarSword going forward. Before we try to say that it's ok to develop this amazing new version of the 3D driver we should probably prove that we at least capable to together fulfil his patrreon. if we can't do this then we need more economical muscle and motivation from somewhere. In my mind the future of 3D Vision is in the knees of DSS. The earlier DSS can make a living off the community the quicker he can look ahead for real and prepare for the death of 3D Vision. I've been unemployed since finishing university in 2009 and DSS has been unemployed for quite a while. Because of my personal contributions to 3D Vision I've kind of been entitled to get everything this community has offered for free. One thing I learned for sure is that you have to do it with passion and don't expect any money pretty much and I'm sure most people make their living from there actual job and is not unemployed like me. You have a hard time making a living off 3D Vision and the only one that is capable of this would be DSS if we help him. Menthal illness is tough, I know. I'm sorry to focus on DSS here but he's more important than a fixer as well me with my assembler contribution. I don't think any fixer is capable to fix any game without using 3D Vision. Halifax is definitely brilliant and has experience with creating different views for each eye in Open GL. I think bo3b is also important with his experience but right now there is no way to pay directly to him and I believe that right now he's not unemployed but if that changes and he decides to make his living creating the 3D driver then we need to cover the cost of two developers. I'm not sure we can afford three full time developers with the current level of donations. I might be unemployed and want something for myself I'm pretty past that by now. I'm pretty sure I would only have at most a minor role if involved with creating 3D Vision Next. If you like 3D Vision you should pay DarkStarSword. If you like the game you should pay the developers. Same goes for 3D Vision.

Thanks to everybody using my assembler it warms my heart.
To have a critical piece of code that everyone can enjoy!

The truth is that the work you do is impressive. Thanks to you 3D is still alive and it is a shame that NVIDIA has acted like this with us. There are many more people than I thought at first affected by this. NVIDIA should reconsider! What happens that they do not play in 3D? Do not know the invaluable value of your NVIDIA 3D VISION system? should you tell them to play TRINE 2, BATMAN Arkham City, Metro 2033, Tomb Raider, etc. to prove that it is much better to play like this with your NVIDIA 3D VISION rather than 2D? I think it's great that NVIDIA take new technology such as RTX for example, but I would say something: Now I'm playing the Splinter Cell Blacklist in Windows 7 with the patch that is in 3D Fix Manager and ... it turns out that the game is practically perfect in 3D but under Dx9 ..., that is, I do not play it even in Dx11 but still if I had to choose between playing in 2D, 4K with RTX to the maximum and DX12 and all in ULTRA any game or playing in 3D under DX9 but with NVIDIA 3D VISION I assure you that I do not care about RTX and 4K and everything in ULTRA ... because the depth offered by 3D can not be surpassed even playing in 8K or 16K or anything like that because there is no !! Only the Virtual Reality would surpass me the 3D but to day of today there are no games that are worthwhile and still this green until within 2 or 3 years. NVIDIA should have taken advantage of its 3D to promote it and value its products much more. They are being foolish! I am in favor of all of us writing to NVIDIA in complaint mode. To get hundreds and hundreds of complaints with our beloved NVIDIA 3D VISION and if they can be thousands better. We deserve a respect the users that buy their graphics to be able to enjoy their technology NVIDIA 3D VISION! Nvidia can not do this! Forgive my English because I'm from BARCELONA and I use the translator. I hope you understand. NVIDIA 3D VISION FOREVER !!

I would like to add another point I feel if 3D became the next big thing we wouldn't have as good as we do now because all the user's who make the tools and shader hackers who make the fixes love 3D this is closes tech I see in 40 years of computer gaming that is almost perfect. and I don't want to forget Joker's EDID override he showed NVIDIA we can play in 3D @ 4K on a 3DTV. Again I support the project going forward and my wife is also going to support it VR is good but there's nothing like playing 3D @ 4K with a community fixed game.

The final driver with 3D Vision support, at least according to the notes, WHQL 425.31 has just been released: https://www.nvidia.com/Download/driverResults.aspx/145872/en-us

The new driver also offers ray tracing support on some GTX GPUs. But of course without RT Cores, they will not work well. https://www.dsogaming.com/news/star-wars-atomic-heart-and-justice-ray-tracing-tech-demos-are-now-available-for-download

Personally I would prefer to pay per game. I'm sure everyone here would be okay with this. Then the developers of the tools could discuss the time put into the fix and a percentage/cut could be determined to go to the tool makers and the shader hacker. Paul's app would also need to monitor the "fixer's" log to see weather the fix was functional for analytical or even refunding purposes. On top of this a yearly or quarterly subscription wouldn't hurt any one passionate about stereoscopic gaming. (Very far down the line, hopefully not, if you guys could make a business and living out of this) There's one apartment I feel nVidia miserably failed at and this was marketing. There just freaken has to be some 3D game trailers during 3D movie adds. We might be talking millions here. But one of the projector companies in collaboration with an interested AAA game developer could cover 99%/all of this. I don't wont to sound naive but even nVidia might coin in to market their gpu's if they notice a revival and were approached by Benq or EA for example. It doesn't have to be on 100% of the time. At least during the release date of popular movies sucking in millions of fans. Some times games release with their respective movie. (Thinking about LEGO franchise or Marvel) Prior to the movie this could also be advertised which would cost you guys nothing. It doesn't even have to be in every movie of every city globally. Stereoscopic gaming has to be revived or given the disclosure it deserved in the beginning. And ofcourse have a rig set up outside the cinema where kids could have a taste of this. Even this alone could help get some exposure. May you guys dream big and be blessed with sound judgment and optimism ♥

3D fix Manager could be used as the unified client for fixes instead of helixmod with creating an account, where we could "own" fixes, paying for using the account per month, with all existing fixes for free +paying for new fixes (this can resolve the problem if someone wants to play a definite title, but someone not)

(That is the latest driver?) Support should run until April 2020. (Does that mean that all drivers will be from branch 418 until then? or what does it mean exactly ?! is anyone's guess ^_^ ) :P As for me, the moment the official support drops, I'll stop as well. Either I'll stick with the last 3D Vision driver for 3D or stop stereo3D gaming until the next iteration appears. As for the drivers, if you bother to read the release notes, you will see that most of the times it's just game profile updates and not really bug fixes for us, stereo3D users. (Unless you care about RTX, G-SYNC and other stuff). And by the time the GTX/RTX 3000 series appear, I bet we can find a way to make the 3D Vision driver work on those gpus as well. I don't recommend trying to replicate what the 3D Vision Driver does. Sure, it can be done, but it's not actually fun. It requires a lot of energy and time and a "per fix" scheme, would not work and pay anything, definitely not the 200-500 hours requires to be dedicated to achieve something like this, by a TEAM of people. For something like this to work, people would need to invest in it financially and maybe 1-2-3 years after to EXPECT SOME results. But anyway... what do I know...
