Future of 3D Vision Support (Official announcement from NVIDIA)
35 / 42
Hey everyone -
Thank you for your enthusiasm here. We elevated your concerns internally in March, and there has been discussion around your requests. Unfortunately, at this time, NVIDIA will not be making 3D Vision open source. Our teams are focused on continuing to provide high-quality drivers and support for our other great products.
I know this is not the result many of you would like to hear, but it is the current reality. We appreciate your support throughout the years. If there are other questions about the end of support for 3D Vision, please refer to our support page. https://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/4781

Thanks for the unlock, as well as providing more information on our request Tim@NVIDIA.
"...I hear your request to continue the conversation about the future of 3D Vision.
However, I ask that you understand the reality here, that NVIDIA will not make 3D Vision open source. As I mentioned, our teams are focused on continuing to provide high-quality drivers and support for many of our other great products.
I believe in presenting information to you in a transparent manner. If there were a chance for 3D vision to be open source, I would have mentioned it on the thread..."

Gentlemen, it looks like we shall have to explore other avenues...

Windows 10 64-bit, Intel 7700K @ 5.1GHz, 16GB 3600MHz CL15 DDR4 RAM, 2x GTX 1080 SLI, Asus Maximus IX Hero, Sound Blaster ZxR, PCIe Quad SSD, Oculus Rift CV1, DLP Link PGD-150 glasses, ViewSonic PJD6531w 3D DLP Projector @ 1280x800 120Hz native / 2560x1600 120Hz DSR 3D Gaming.
It doesn't have to be open source, just some documentaion on how to:
1. tell the existing nvidia usb pyramid driver to turn on/off for a specific refresh rate (it seems to operate its sync threads relatively independently as long as you can enable/disable it)
2. create quad buffered swapchains in d3d11 and opengl (however there might not be anything to document here if all the interfaces required to make these have been deleted, like it seems to be) and get them to tell the pyramid driver which frame is left/right.
Anything else can be handled by 3dmigoto/other auto-stereoization hooks themselves.

Is it possible to use a virtual machine, like VirtualBox, to keep an elder version of GeForce drivers and 3DVision ?
Or the better solution is, to keep a PC with Windows 1809 and drivers 425 ?

I have not looked closely at this recently, so it might be better now. But as a general rule you pay a performance penalty to virtualize, and anything GPU based was hit very hard. And getting the passthroughs to work correctly for USB and 3D driver is likely to take some work.
So doing 3D would likely be a non-starter for a VM. Better off to dual boot and get native performance.

I use a SSD caddy system for old builds of Windows 10 on my computer and I disable the network adapter via Device manager and you can play till you grow old.
I also use game manager portable on another drive to backup games saves since no I have no internet connection when using older builds.

Since years I’m not into Stereoscopic gaming anymore, but I still enjoy watching 3D movies very much with Nvidia:
So just to be sure:
Is there may be a way to use the Nvidia USB Stereoscopic emitter for watching movies in the Stereoscopic Player, 3D Vision video player or PowerDVD with newer drivers?
The NVIDIA Stereoscopic 3D USB controller driver is still there, but I'm afraid it looks like it is tied to the driver, so these players also need the old driver…

It's a shame that Nvidia is doing this! A huge community paid tons of money for all this 3D Vision hardware, and now they discontinue its functionality while not even helping in providing ways for the community to take matters into their own hands?
Anyone who tries to keep this going will have my full financial support, Kickstarter, Steam, whatever.
I've had some of the best, most intense gaming experiences ever with 3D Vision, I'm not willing to let that go!
Regardless of having a VR headset, 3D Vision works FAR better with all games I own.

Nvidia doesn't owe us anything...the writing was on the wall for what?? 4 years now???
They strung us along on even trying to fix the CPU Core issues...knowing damn well when 3D Visions death date was

It is not that Nvidia has made great efforts to make 3D Vision better. They have done rather little.
But they forgot something important. One is 3D Gaming, but 3D Vision is also good for watching 3D photos and videos and Blu-rays. At least they should leave that inside, otherwise you can't even use your PC as a media player for 3D.

What do you mean by the word "owe. " I didn't lend nvidia money and now they owe me money that I had given to them. Your comment comes off as extremely autistic.
I purchased a 3d vision monitor and a 3d vision 2 kit. I expect that those products will continue to function. Just like I expect my gysnc monitor and my sli bridge to function.
So Nvidia does not owe me anything, that's completely the wrong word to use. Nvidia has an obligation to not break the products that I purchased from them
