this should answer your question too;-)
just follow the steps described in post 190 to make a special edid for your passive Philips.

Thanks for your answers Mazee, I am not very flexible with the viewing distance too, about 1.20m so it should be perfect. Indeed I can refund it if input lag doens't please me, so I will take the 49PUS7100, because with the 100€ offer from Philips, it costs me 699€ quasi the same price than the 43PUS7100 (660€) :) Now it's time to sell my GTX970 OC and find a "good" price for a GTX980 Ti...

Ok I ordered it. Till it comes, could you tell me all the things I need to do in order to have this 4k interleaved mod working on this 49PUS7100 monitor (appart from your post #190), how to have optimized for geforce experience etc...? thanks

Yeah, I got the Philips 49PUS7100 today and I overided it with success :) So far, very impressed by the overall quality of the screen and immersion of new world of 4K in 3D in 49" at 1.4m :). But less impressed by the ghosting: In gaming mode, in the begining I got horrible ghosting till I found the option "definition" (it was at 2 of 10) in TV menu, soon I disabled it , ghosting disappear totally in witcher :) That's what I thought, because It was perfect in bottom and top of the screen, but there is always ghosting in the quarter on the bottom left and right ... it's very distracting. My eyes are at the center of the screen and if I lower myself a little bit, ghosting little decreases in the bottom, but begins to appear at the top of the screen. So I can not find a perfect position ... Disappointed because out of this, picture is perfect and impressive at the center and top of the screen Have you the same problem with LG UB850 or other? edit: I check on a 3D movie "San Andreas" and I had to lower myself till I have my eyes sight at 1/3 of the screen to have the better picture without ghosting. I thought the best was at middle screen height. Same for you?

I tested on my 55UC970 and there is no ghosting when watching from 1.4m. But I don't use gaming mode, quality sucks. Perhaps you have a problem due to the placement of the TV. Mine is on the stand and my head is more or less in the center of the screen when seated. Do you use a wall mount? Placed the TV at an angle?

M'y TV Is on TV stand center of my room. I'll try today without gaming mode. Is it possible that my ghosting problem comes from the .inf I made? I attached my original inf and the one I made by overide, could you check it?

chtiblue - have you tried evaluating your TV's ghosting (preferably using TriDef and NVIDIA test patterns) only using 3DTV Play and NO EDID mod? This will decouple EDID mod in your assessment. As a point of comparison, my LG 55UB9500, when viewing center of screen from the minimum 3D distance, has very little ghosting at screen edges. For optimal viewing, your screen should be centered on your height of your eyes (no head tilt), and normal (90 degrees) to your vision.

I don't have 3Dtvplay, is there another way to testing ghosting?

3DTV Play is free if you have a 3D Vision emitter, whether it's an internal or external one. Since the VG278H has an internal emitter, the monitor needs to remain connected to enable 3DTV Play for free. I've had a total of 5 passive displays, I currently have 3. The film pattern retarder varies from display to display. You just have to move around to find the sweet spot with the lowest amount of ghosting. Your head might need to be centered, or you might need to be higher/lower than center. Also you typically need to be a least 6 feet away, but my experience is only with 1080P. There's also the chance that the glasses are your problem, try different pairs. You can use the test application in the wizard, just move around while it's running.

yep thanks, In 4k the distance are lower and that is very good :) I had moving around and around ;) and unfortunately I'm out of luck as I identified the zones where there is always ghosting due to the film pattern retarder. I attached a picture I made, the dead zone are in blue. The large zone on the bottom left is the very anoying one, so I have to refund the screen, no other choice I think :( Sad because I'm in love with the quality of the rest of the picture (and the ambilight system)... I'll certainly go for the LG 49UF850V which has good reputation regarding ghosting. hi big screen owners :) So I'm gonna refund my defective 49" screen. I don't know yet if I take another 49" or a 55" ;) I wonder what is the minimal view distance for a 55" screen in 4K 3D? I'm between 1.1 and 1.5 meter, is it ok? Cheers,

Below 1.5 you might have problems with the sweet spot. Every head movement left/right up/down could ruin the 3d

With my 55UB9500, I can generally sit about 4 ft from screen and maintain good 3D across screen.

So I received my new 49pus7100 Phillips 4k tv, and on this one the hfr filter is well posed :) So now, the only little ghosting I can see is when white object are on dark scene, for example, in the game park with white light all around the park, in layers of fear all the white action option in the dark or to open a door. inAC syndicate dame with white action button vs darker pictures etc... So I want to know if LG 4k screen have this too or if they are totally ghosting free, IN PARTICULARY with the LG UB850V or UF850v which is the one I hesitate versus my PUS7100. thanks a lot.
