With all of the noise made by the PC players of BioShock 2 about a multitude of issues with the initial release of the game, it is not surprising that a patch has arrived so quickly. The version 1.0.0.1 patch fixes a number of issues that were discovered between the release to manufacturing and the actual launch of the game. Only two problems: the patch does not address the well-known widescreen issue, and for some reason, the mouse in the multiplayer mode no longer works.
Despite the problems with the patch it does fix fourteen problems, some of which could impede your ability to progress through the single player version of the game. It does appear to fix the crash that would happen when loading a previous manual save made before any present QuickSave that seemed to cause many people grief.
According to our sources, the developers are working to address the widescreen issue as well as the new multiplayer mouse issue. It would seem that if you are enjoying the multiplayer, you might want to think twice before applying this patch. However, if you are still having issues with getting through the single player game, then this patch offers a lot of valuable fixes.
We hear whispers that another patch isn’t that far off for release for the PC platform, but it is still unknown when we can expect to see the first patch for the console versions of the game.
Yes it is the older patch, version 1.0.0.1 -- no big deal. In fact, when you apply that patch, the version number when ingame at the menu is still listed as 1.0.

The release of Bioshock 2 on the PC ,like the original ,has pretty much been a joke. From the widescreen aspect issue ,which is exactly like the flaw in the original ,to the lack of gamepad support and the issues with 3D Vision this certainally will have me thinking twice before purchasing another game from 2K.They need to get a proper patch out ASAP and Nvidia needs to get some drivers with profiles for SLI and 3D Vision out as well ,thats getting to be a similarly bad situation. It has been over a week Nvidia did you not know the game was to be released on 2/9/10 ?
