Dead or Alive

I was running BOINC in the background once and the framerate dropped down into the 40s, causing the whole fight to play in slow motion. I expect you could artificially cap the frame rate down even lower and make what amounts to a turn-based fighting game! ;)
Dead or Alive 5 is a free to play game, it's kinda like Mortal Combat.
Huh? Dead or Alive 5: Last Round is basically the second (?) expansion to Dead or Alive 5. It is most definitely not free to play.

The very powerful and the very stupid have one thing in common. Instead of altering their views to fit the facts, they alter the facts to fit their views ... which can be very uncomfortable if you happen to be one of the facts that needs altering.

Oops, I saw the DLC when I browsed the weeklong sales on Monday and must have been looking at something else that was FTP.

Yeah, these kinds of fighting games actually have to run at 60fps else you are basically playing an entirely different game, its due to the game being built around 60 frames per second and the character moves having startup, active, frames of recovery ect. Tekken is another example. They pretty much have to stay locked at 60fps. Its not a luxury like it is in most other genres
I have made a hotfix for personal use with Helixmod. But perhaps it is interesting for You, too. - As I didn't know how to fix the issues with water refraction I simply made the water nontransparent and changed color, reflection and bloom so that it fits to the rest of the environment. So far I could only discover 4 areas with the water issue and only in the Sanctuary it is quite prominent. Usually You can choose the place where You want to fight (besides from the story mode). So I don't think that I will spend more time on fixing this issue. I hope that an expert will have a look at it some time.
I've just bought the game and might take a look. No promises on time frame though - I won't have much time to spare until May.

Can you guys test this and get me some good screenshots to post on the blog (remove the ShaderOverride from 3d4dd first since I've fixed some things in a different spot) - water, fog and a few other minor effects should be fixed: https://s3.amazonaws.com/DarkStarSword/3Dfix-Dead+or+Alive+5+Last+Round-2015-04-11.zip I am literally about to walk out the door and won't have access to my 3D laptop again for most of the rest of the month, so if there are any other issues 3d4dd can take care of them (the only one I know of is the sun flare, and it's pretty minor). @3d4dd - the way I fixed the water is here: https://github.com/DarkStarSword/3d-fixes/commit/b387f53a3ff505192f06b0a2c17a48533ebea6b1

That water is perfect! One thing is causing me issues, though - the GUI. Shouldn't it be popping OUT instead of in? There aren't any crosshairs on a game like this so I think that might work better. http://photos.3dvisionlive.com/Zloth/image/5529870ae7e564474d00019e/ (full album is here: http://photos.3dvisionlive.com/Zloth/album/551bf903e7e5647e36000117/ Mod starts at Helena vs. Phase 4)

As a quick tweak, it looks like you can look for the files that have 'HUD' in the ShaderOverride folder, and change the lines for the constants. def c222, 0, 1, 0.0625, 0.3 Set the last parameter to what you'd like. 0.3 is 30% of the way in. Set it to -0.05 for 5% popout for example.

Yeah I was thinking pop out would look better too, but it might look weird for the menus. It's worth trying I'd think.

Thanks for the screenshots :) http://helixmod.blogspot.com.au/2015/04/dead-or-alive-5-last-round.html I added the note about adjusting the HUD depth from bo3b. We could easily add a key to cycle it between a few presets, but I'm not able to test it right now and didn't want to risk breaking it. Wish me luck guys - I'm getting married in a few hours!
