losing sync with 3D Glasses
  1 / 2
PROBLEM SOLVED B) SOLUTION A THE END OF THREAD :P

Just installed brand new SAMSUNG 2233RZ + 3DVISION Glasses.

My PC is a quad core Q9650 + NVIDIA GTX 295. I tested at 1680 x 1050, 1280 x 720 etc... Same problem...

I tried the 3D Vision 1.08 driver CD then the beta 1.10 CD on both Windows 7 RC 64 bits and Vista 32 SP1 system...

Each time, i first install the graphic card driver and then the 3D Vision driver.

No problem with drivers installation (detection OK, Green light on the NVIDIA IR pod, green light on glasses etc...)

But when i arrive at the material test (right eye closed etc...) The sync of the glasses is lost each second : When i close the right eye (and keep it closed), i see a green hexagon alone, then the blue triangle appear with the green hexagon, and then i see a blue triangle alone, etc... while keeping my right eye closed...

The 3D Sync is stuttering all the time... Impossible to use it...

Sometimes, I see the green form alone and when i think that everything work fine, it's never lasting more than a few seconds...

I tested at 100 hrtz, 110 and 120 hrtz : same problem... The glasses is loosing sync with the screen...

My problem is : Who is guilty ?

- The screen ?
- The glasses ?
- The GTX 295 card ?

First i thought that it was Windows 7 RC 64, but it's the same with Vista 32 SP1...

Could you please help me find who is guilty ?

[Edit] OK I've found the problem. If i set the GTX 295 in mono GPU mode, the sync is OK at 120 hrtz !!!

I tested the last unofficial driver 190.56 : The problem is still there in Multi GPU Mode...

Need to wait for a new driver or did i missed something ??

The 3D kit is unusable for me for the moment...

That's an odd one.
If this was happening to me....I would first try a different USB cable to IR transmitter and try in a different USB port.

After completely satisfied the drivers and OS are all ok... I would then start doubting the hardware starting with the IR transmitter, then the glasses and then the monitor. I would least suspect the guilty party being the card.

This might not be much help (sorry) but it all sounded a bit "Cluedo" and I couldn't help but get involved.

The multi GPU mode with GTX 295 was the problem : Switched to single GPU mode and Sync is OK...

But i'd like to use multi GPU for best performance...

Do i need to update the firmware of the 295 ?

Could it solve the problem ????

Something still not quite right here.
I have 2 x GTX295's and 3d works equally well in SLI or Single GPU mode with one card or both installed.

Hi

I suspect the problem is related to running Quad SLI. That config means running both of your GTX 295s togther in SLI. Since there are 4 GPUS total, we call it Quad SLI.

We currently dont support Quad SLI with 3D Vision. You shouldnt see a flicker, but that could be an artifact of our support not being there.

You should be able to run a single GTX 295 in multi-GPU mode, which is effectively like running in SLI (2 GPUs).

Does that make sense?

Sorry i have just one GTX 295... And to pass the material test i have to be in mono GPU mode.

If i setup the GTX 295 in multi GPU mode i lose the sync : back to the problem that made me post this topic...

Is there a problem with my GTX 295 ?

One more thing : When i lauch the Medusa 3D test i lose the sync too in Mono GPU mode...

But with 3D video player, everything plays good (except some 16:9 videos shrinked to 4:3 but i think it's a bug of the player : Impossible to force the 16:9 aspect ratio...)

Correct me if I'm wrong :

If Sync is OK at 120 hrtz in mono GPU mode, it's mean that :

- My SAMSUNG screen is OK
- My 3D glasses are OK

So the guilty is my GTX 295... But before i bought this 3D kit, i had no problem with it in Multi GPU Mode...

What could be wrong with it ?

All the graphic card drivers I've tried was those present on the 3D Vision disk 1.08 and then 1.10 Beta... Then i installed the last unofficial 190.56, but the problem was still there...

How could i check my GTX 295 to find what is wrong with it ?

Could it be a firmware problem ? Here is a GPU-Z screen capture of my GPU :

Could someone please help me ?

Yesterday night i opened my PC and removed my Matrox RT.X2 (HD video editing card on PCIE 1x...)

http://www.matrox.com/video/en/products/rtx2/

Before removing it, i desactivated all the components in the hardware control panel...

Did not solve the problem...

Now i just have a PCI SATA Controller Promise SATA300 TX4...

Don't think it could be responsible of my problem...

My motherboard is an ASUS P5E Deluxe with the sound card on the first PCIE x1 shipped with it...

I will try to remove it too... Could it be the problem ?

I noticed that the quality of sound is altered when i have desync problem...

I'll be back... ^_^

OK... Now i officially don't know what to do...

I removed my sound card, removed my PCI SATA controller, unactived the Jmicron controller in the BIOS setup of my motherboard...

Now my 295 GTX is ALONE in my PC : The problem is still there : NO SYNC IN MULTI-GPU MODE...

And when i set my card in Mono-GPU mode, i lose the sync in Medusa 3D test too...

In mono GPU, only the NVIDIA 3D system test program works fine in 3D at 120 hrtz... And the 3D video player plays well too : Even 1080p 3D video... Except the 16:9 to 4:3 shrink problem (3D Player known bug)...

The 3D kit is unusable for me /thumbsdown.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Last information : My alim is an Enermax 950 W... So the GTX 295 is well powered with the two plugs...

Any idea ??

OK i think that i have a BIG problem with my GTX 295...

Windows 7 64 gave it a 4,6 in "game graphics" in Multi GPU Mode... It is VERY low...

It is probably the cause of my sync problem... /bloated.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':X' />

[Edit] In Windows Vista 32 the card is scoring 5,9

The score is good... SO WHAT IS THE PROBLEM ????

I will have to investigate this issue internally for you. I cannot point to a solution right now.

If someone has the same problem, you are welcome...

I have a brand new disk... I will install a fresh Windows 7 RTM on it to see if the problem is still there...

I will give some news here when the test is done...
