Mass Effect: Andromeda - 3D Vision Fix (3D Vision Partial-fix released)
24 / 27
It's understandable. Some games have already burned him out because of constant updates that break stuff (you can check the story of DarkStarSword with Dreamfall Chapters too for an extreme example :p). In my case, I had to update the last BlazBlue game fix to add some new shaders almost every time there was a game update. It wasn't too annoying because it's a fighting game with simple graphics (10-30 minutes for each update), but it's a bit tiring (and space consuming) having to boot a game you consider already beaten. I can't imagine how disheartening must be finding that a graphically complex game with a long story mode has been broken by an update.
If it's just that the same effects have new shader CRCs, it should be relatively easy to fix if you know the fixing patterns. If the content of shaders change and needs new formulas... tough luck.

This game won't be updated anymore and the latest fix works but not with CS lights or just partially. Having the new compute flags does indeed fix the CS lights issue but the problem is that another full playthrough is required to properly sort them out now that they don't disappear and to fix new issues that come along the way.
It is totally understandable to not want to spend more time after countless hours of working around the broken lights or on new updates so we can only hope that someone else picks this fix up where Helifax left off.
In other news I believe these CS bits ranging from 5 to F can fix lots of compute-heavy games including older Frostbite games and also any upcoming ones.

Makes a ton of sense. Thanks for clarifying =)
I've repeatedly looked at if I could do what our resident magicians do, but as I don't really play the simpler (graphically) indie games, it seems insurmountable to begin to learn to do something as complicated as this. So mad respect to all of you who put this effort into it. My credit card is sadly the only assistance I can provide, and I can only imagine how painful it must be to replay a game for the umpteenth time. While I certainly play Mass Effect games more than once, I strongly prefer months between playthroughs - not having to restart every time there is an update or systems change like this one. That way madness surely lies =P
No wonder burnout is a very real threat among the code-whisperers.
Thank you all.

Honestly I agree that this game is not worth keeping on top of especially in light that it was a partial fix to begin with. I actually personally just ended up using CM, so I can completely understand Helifax's position. I don't blame him at all, and thanks as usual for your time and dedication you have spent already.
It doesn't help that the game is really not that great. Yes the gameplay is ok, in fact it could be argued it's best this franchise has ever been. But the writing and characters are so god damned atrocious it barely resembles a bioware game at all, and the narrative has this unshakable social justice warrior creepy vibe to everything. Two aliens discussing their preferred gender pronouns was the straw that broke the camels back for me. Also I see a trend with bioware games now where they are becomming so gargantuan and packed with filler Ubisoft open world/ MMO light style content its becomming borderline offensive.
But really,if you still like this game, Compatibility mode is not that bad.

I really couldn't play this game in CM but then again CM has never been a good option for me and I usually settle with low depth and adjusted convergence. The game is not bad at all, in fact I would say it's one of the best that came out this year if you overlook some minor dialogue and story aspects.
I certainly hope I'm not the only one thinking that all the work put into this game should not be in vain especially since this is not a partial fix and now that the CS lights are working it would be a shame to leave it like this so here's hoping...

After trying all the flags from 0xC000 to 0xF000 I can say that none of them work and now I remember trying them before as well.
The fact that the lights don't disappear is masking a bigger problem. The resources are MONO (hence they show in both eyes). But they need to be stereo not mono. There is no way we can correct them.
To fix this issue, we would need to do the other way: Make everything stereo and then find out what needs to be mono. And I don't talk about shaders only but the Texture2D and Texture3D which are automatically stereorised by the 3D Vision driver:)

Hope that the new games with frostbite will dont have this issue. (like Battelfront 2 or Anthem...)

After further testing I figured out how to partially revert the mono problem which was causing some effects to separate only in one eye. To fix this the game needs to be launched with the 4000 flag and while it's running just alt+tab to change the flag to C000.
However, Screen-Space Reflections will still be broken, Depth of Field has to be set to Low quality and Ambient Occlusion to SSAO. Some CS lights are affected by cutoffs and also causing issues around characters so I'm playing with 15-50% depth (depending on the area) and adjusted convergence to align them.
I'm not sure if there's an easier way to apply this workaround but at least it works. Would be totally awesome if these CS lights could be fixed since the low DoF and broken SSR are not really a big deal :D

That is a very interesting find, if it works;)
We assumed that all the nvidia profile stuff is read when the game launches and not after the game runs.
But, your discovery says otherwise;)
This is very interesting indeed.
I am still not sure what 0x000C000 stands for. So this is every interesting.
DOF in all Frostbite games need to be Low or Medium. Anything else is a complete Post Process Effect without any depth.
Edit:
This seems to do something, but everything is so broken that I can't even see where I could start from looking into fixing this thing.
The shadows are fixed in the fix I released. If those are broken - aka 2D - than it means the flag is not right:( If they are broken but in Stereo, than it probably is a double Stereo correction somewhere and that could be potentially fixed:)

I'm sorry I had completely forgotten that I removed the 358287531d379f46-cs shader which fixes Global CS tiles because I thought it needed an update. If I enable this shaderfix some weird shadows appear in the world and some CS lights aren't rendering in both eyes when I get close to them but at the same time it does indeed fix the tiles around the edges of some CS lights. I'm not sure what to do now lol.
In any case the biggest issue is the pixelation around some characters when they're in front of CS lights.
LE: Well nevermind I guess the CS tiles are pixelated only in one eye so it's definitely some mono-rendering issue. Still I wonder if they can be corrected since your Global CS tiles shaderfix has some effect even with the C000 flag and they look quite ok with lower sep and conv.

I might have some interesting news in the following days-weeks:)

PS:
And yes, that is proper Stereo 3D with Compute Shader Tile Lighting working.
Currently there are still Compute shaders, that I am trying to identify and trying to fix. I hope I will be able to do all of them as there are currently problematic lights in certain locations :)
And also yes, this would be the FIRST Frostbite3 based game to be fully fixed! (using Compute Shader Lighting).
