by the way is there any point overclock all the 4 cores or let alone use more than 3 if that´s the case with 3d vision.
It depends on the game. I saw massive fps improvements in The Witcher 3 when I went from 4c/4t (4670K) to 4c/8t (7700K). It was a 60-70% improvement, with a 16% clock increase and ~10% better IPC. Deus Ex MD improved a lot too with this CPU. However, games like FFXIII-2 only improved slightly (just higher clock + IPC).

Hi Russell, I agree with you! I have yet to play through GTA5 myself; hoping for a fix before I start. I was trying to convey the message that we, as a community, would rather they spend time fixing the underlying cause of the problem rather than concentrate on fixing one game via maybe some profile tweaks, or whatever they have "done". When the real problem is fixed, it should work with GTA5, and all future games too. As doctors like to say, it would be infinitely more helpful to concentrate efforts on treating the underlying cause, rather than one symptom :) I could have chosen my words better, I agree! Appreciate the kind words, but I believe I did comparatively little on my own. The credit goes to everyone in the community here who did the work! Let's hope the smart folk at nVidia manage to get to the bottom of this and fix it once and for all.

Hi Shahzad :-) Ok, agree with what you said now, I suppose I wasn't thinking about the bigger picture :-) Was just a bit concerned that GTAV is where this all really started to my knowledge so might send mixed messages to Nvidia. Would be great if they optimize the driver and based on the content of this thread I'm hopeful. I know there are so many things we want them to improve but it at least seems to be established that 3d vision is alive and they will continue to bug fix. See you're still using your 6531w! I moved to a 1080p model but I'm still waiting for the 4k dlp projectors to sort their act out. Apparently at least one of the manufacturers has promised to release a 3d firmware update. RLBurnside has posted on this forum and he's a prominent guy over at AVSFORUMS. I really hope in the next year we get a major 3d upgrade on the display tech side of things. Anyway, don't want to derail the topic.

Hi guys, Ray kindly wrote to us as follows: Hi Shahzad, I've discussed this with the lead developer working on this issue and was able to gathered more details. If you recalled earlier the FPS numbers we were getting internally did not match the data you had provided. It wasn't until we found out that the data you provided was using DSR resolutions, then we were able to replicate the issue. So the focus concentrated specifically with stereo + DSR feature enabled. We identified some improvement area and we fixed it. Fix was kind of specific to DSR feature enabled with stereo and fix applicable for all games (Not specific to GTA5). Development suggest testing the same scenario as previously with stereo + DSR resolution to see the recent benefits. Please also note that the fixes would not help if Share captured is enabled via GeForce Experience, so make sure the system does not Share captured option enabled. Development did review the performance data with the latest drivers, and they understand that users have concern with low CPU usage with stereo enable. The data shows that, stereo FPS with ultra settings is around 30-40% with GTA5. Development acknowledge that they will come up with a plan to analyze the stereo performance in general with current top games, identify the major issues and fix them. To see improvement from the recent fixes you would need to enable DSR resolution with stereo. Sounds like there will be more to come for non DSR scenario. Best regards, Ray Summing up: They tried to fix DSR resolutions, and are now planning to fix non-DSR scenarios "in general" with current modern games. If you compare DSR, in theory, one should notice some difference. "Sounds like there will be more to come for non DSR scenario" is encouraging :) If someone would like to kindly post a quick couple of DSR benchmarks between the drivers, that might be enlightening!

Thanks to everyone who has done testing on this. It's heartening that they are prepared to at least support 3dvision in terms of keeping the driver working properly. Hopefully the underlying issue gets resolved. Can never have enough of better performance, regardless.

Thanks for the update RAGEdemon. I hope they fix this CPU bottleneck issue once and for all. Unfortunately with my system I see no fps difference between three different drivers again in GTA V also with DSR. Results are very similar with my previous test even the resolution was higher. Tests done with 1080p 3DV 2 monitor at 1440p with DSR enabled. Tried three drivers, one of them is the latest hotfix driver 384.80. I'm not so optimistic about the Nvidia employee's response. I don't want to write anything that can be regarded as attack on Nvidia, so I'll keep to myself what I am scared of, when I read the quoted text. I hope I'm wrong and maybe we are finally looking at real chance of seeing this issue fixed soon. That would deserve applause, not "bad talk". I still didn't check GTA V out, cause without 3D + stable 60fps with maxxed draw distance, it would feel like I'm missing out too much. So let's hope for the best. :)

Thanks for the tests again lacuna! I have sent them to Ray, who shall hopefully forward them to the development team in the hopes that they will find them useful. They indeed show quite succinctly that, at least with your system, there is no difference. Core i7 2700k@4.5Ghz is still a solid CPU even for today's performance standards!

A little update: Ray writes: Hi Shahzad, These results from "Lucuna" is for single GPU and not SLI. Development confirm that we have not done any optimization for single GPU case. The recent fix was specifically targeted for SLI configuration since the data that was previously provided was with SLI. Development suggest testing with SLI to confirm. It appears the recent fix was specifically targeted for the case we were able to replicate the failure, which was SLI + DSR. Single GPU case would need to be analyzed further and would likely fall with future work. Best regards, Ray So it looks like some work was done in a DSR scenario with an SLi setup only. Would someone with an SLi setup like to kindly do a quick benchmark to compare the 2 drivers?

Big thanks again, RAGEdemon, for your big efforts, i'm silently watching the "progress", but honestly, don't you think "some work was done in a DSR scenario with an SLi setup only" is something unreal ? why the hell they haven't gone the simple or obviously right way to test non DSR/SLI scenario first ? it still seems for me just another bla bla. I rly hope i'm wrong
