Left 4 Dead 3D Problems...Anyone help?
Hey so when I play Left 4 Dead in 3D for singleplayer then this game is awesome and I have no problems so far.

But when I play in multiplayer then whenever something is highlighted (picking up a gun, looking at another player through walls and etc.) the screen turns a bluish white and it hurts my eyes.

It's not like it's not playable but it really hurts my eyes and also it doesnt do that in singleplayer...

Does anyone know anything about this or have had the same problem?

Thanks!

UPDATE: Actually this only occurs when playing survival mode. Does anybody know a fix?

That very strange, in L4D i sometimes have this issue when my drivers crashes then restarts itself making the game freeze for like 10 seconds but that only happens rarely. The only thing i can suggest is adjusting the settings on L4D or reinstalling your drivers.

I fixed this by changing a graphics setting in l4d, but I can't remember which one.

To get rid of the anomalous blue/white glow, go to Options - Video - Advanced and change "Wait for Video Sync" to "Enabled (Triple buffered)". If it's already set to that then change it to "Enabled (Double Buffered)" instead. Sometimes when you start a new session the blue/white light will be back in which case just change the setting again and it'll disappear.

Hi,

I have had the same problem. I run 3 monitors and I found the way to get rid of the problem for me was to simply minimize Left 4 Dead by hitting the windows key, and then bringing it back up again. That simple.

Another Left 4 Dead tip (a method to get rid of the extremely annoying screen-depth player names above each character's head):.

Got to your Steam\steamapps\common\left 4 dead\left4dead\cfg folder, create a new text document called autoexec.cfg and paste in the following text:

alias "namestoggle" "namesoff"
alias "namesoff" "hidehud 64; alias namestoggle nameson"
alias "nameson" "hidehud 2; alias namestoggle namesoff"
bind tab "namestoggle"

Then fire up L4D and ensure you have the developer console enabled (it's in the Options - Keyboard/Mouse settngs). Once in-game, bring down the console (by hitting the tilda key) and enter "sv_cheats 1" (without the quotes). Then get rid of the console (tilda again) and you should now be able to toggle the player names off and on by hitting tab. (Obviously make sure you haven't bound anything else to tab in the options screen or just use a different key).

When the player names are hidden you'll also lose the health bars at the bottom of the screen so if you need to check your health just hit tab again. I suspect a different value for the first hidehud command may enable you to just hide the names and not the health, but whatever it is, I haven't found it yet (if anyone figures it out, let me know please).

DD

P.S. The above only works in single player or if you're the server due to the "sv_cheats 1" requirement. Why hiding part of your own hud is regarded as a cheat I don't know.

Hey I was also wondering what are the best settings for depth and convergence for Left 4 Dead.

And what exactly does convergence do because I haven't noticed a difference when I press Crtl+F6 and Crtl+F5. What exactly does convergence change?

Thanks :)

First make sure you've enabled advanced in-game settings (nVidia control panel - setup stereoscopic 3d - set keyboard shortcuts - show advanced in game settings - enable advanced in game settings). Then to adjust convergence hold down CTRL+F5 or CTRL+F6.

CTRL+F5 moves the entire scene away from you (further into the screen), CTRL + F6 moves everything towards you (out of the screen). In L4D it's best to adjust the convergence so that the butt of your shotgun appears to be slightly out of the screen (i.e. press CTRL+F6 a few times after the default profile loads). When you're happy with the setting, press CTRL+F7 once to save it.
