Maybe if I had paid £10 and had the Helix fix from day 1 and played it, I might not be so down on it, but it truely is the worst game I've played in about a decade. No other game I can think of has left me so bored after the opening few minutes, its actually shocking. If I was one of the devs I would frankly be embarrased. The audio is crap and repetitive, the script is terrible, the aliens are dumb as doughnuts, and I feel absolutely no joy from the combat, or any emotion when I die. Also, the graphics are poor, it looks almost like an original Xbox title. 3D so far is the ONLY saving grace (thanks again Helix!!) and the only reason I'll give it a second chance. As I said, play a friends copy or have a go on a torrented version before you think about spending anywhere near full retail price on this.

Here are some tweaks to get the game look visually closer to what some of those pre-release gameplay videos looked like: http://forums.gearboxsoftware.com/showthread.php?t=245145&page=16 (look for the post by Shaitan). It seems that Gearbox had completely left out the the current (and maybe even the older) generation gpu's out from their list of supported gpu's. Basically in the list they've categorized gpu's from 1 to 5 but the highest they've applied is 4, so now you have to add you'r gpu to the list and make it as a category 5 gpu so that it will utilize all the settings meant to be used by a category 5 gpu. With that tweak you can add your gpu (if it isn't listed) to the list of supported gpu's and assign higher levels of graphical options (5) to be used by it. This way you can enable such things as better lighting, shadows and fogging along with other enhancements. These made the game look so much better than it is in it's current state (though the game itself is still rather shitty). It boggles the mind how stuff like this is left unnoticed/ignored by the developers! Oh and btw, this does not brake the Helix mod, so no worries there.

There also seems to a DX10 patch available here: http://www.moddb.com/mods/aliensdx10-better-grafik-and-light (which also mentions to have better support for 3D Vision). Haven't installed it yet and don't know if it will break Helix mod. but maybe I'll give it a go...

I tried the DX10 mod and it was unplayable. Helix is the way to go with this game. I couldn't see much difference with the DX10 mod as far as graphics go either. Doom 3 BFG in 3D Vision beats the pants off this game :P

Tried the new DX11 Mod and man what a difference it makes and working perfect with Helix Mod :) of course it wont make it look really great but together with 3d it makes this shitty looking game decent at least!

I'm actually enjoying the game a lot, if nothing else just because I'm a big Alien nerd. With the new nVidia driver a small patch they made, some .ini file adjustments, and nVidia inspector, I have the game fully utilizing my gtx 670 and generating some heat! The single player campaign is short though, so it's not worth buying if you don't enjoy the multiplayer.

I like playing single player in games so I cant speak for MP. The AI is what killed it for me. I could of dealt with the rest. I play games especially in 3D for immersion but its just not there with this game. Your AI teammates often dont attack enemies/enemies dont attack them. Aliens will often sit in place and not move. I really think if anyone is considering buying this game to rather buy Dead Space (any of them).

Hmmm seems to have jump to conclution, the game does not work anymore with the DX11 Mod, will try with the new nvidia driver or else I just will use Helix Mod. Agree with eqzitara, rather go for Dead Space 3 as it seems much a better game thou, but if you got the cash try out this one to as it seems not to shabby. Dont know how many points I would give it as I havent got that far but as others said the AI seems like a joke but if you are a Aliens fan give it a shoot :) Btw, im also enjoy singelplayer games only so I cant speak of the multiplayer aspect as I never play multiplayer at all!

Game looks actually very impressive and immersive with the 3D vision fix. I could never understand all the hate against it. I played like 90 hours and had such a great time.

Apparently whole action management is improved - can`t tell, didn`t try it yet.

It seems I skipped this one. Probably due to bad reviews. I will give it a try Considering Aliens vs Predator and NFS Porche Unleashed were the first games I played 3d, should bring back some memories. LS: Did anyone else try the mod? For me it just makes the image seem lowers.
