Asus ROG Swift PG278Q vs. Acer XB280HK - exclusively for 3D Vision - Which one?

Indeed I read about the SLI-problem with the Swift but I wasn't aware that this problem still exists. Someone was stating in that thread that he has no problems running the Swift in 1440p 3D Vision. So somehow I came to the conclusion that he must also run an SLI-Setup if he is able to run 1440p 3D Vision like a charme. Yes you are right Bob, my GTX-690 is 2GB per side! Beside the SLI-problem which seems to be a "game-breaking" factor with my setup I really would like to go for another option (where I don't have to pay for a feature that I won't use). Unfortunately I don't know which displays D-Man is pointing to as I absolutely can't find a single 1440p-120Hz/144Hz display beside the two mentioned above (Asus Rog Swift and the Acer XB280HK). Any suggestions?
SLI here, zero problems with SLI unless the game itself does not support SLI (i.e. Titanfall etc.) Maybe the SLI issues are isolated to Maxwell. System specs in signature.
Are you saying that you`ve got equal scaling between two cards on sli supported games ? Can you confirm that you see it on a performance graph/monitor. Take a screenshot because I don`t believe you.

Don't buy the rog swift give it a few months and wait for something else, the monitor is a pile of shit I cant wait to get rid of it off my desk. 3d it has inversion problems and now the issue of sli not working in 3d which is probably driver related. Im sick and tired of this monitor it has a lot of quality control problems also. Wait for something better or just as good to come out honestly you will be glad you did. Nvidia driver team needs a boot up their ass too the drivers they have been putting out lately are shit. What good a 3 titan blacks running at a solid 1300mhz when I cant even use sli half the time?

Yesterday I ordered 3 x Acer XB240HB monitors (HB is the version without G-Sync while HA would be the G-Sync version which obviously doesn't have any benefits for me since I will use the monitors exclusively for 3D-gaming). It seems the monitor also has DVI as well as HDMI according to Acer's official webpage for the monitor and all those cables are even included in the package. http://www.acer.co.uk/ac/en/GB/content/model/UM.FB0EE.001 But i have to admit that I also found one or two pages where only the Display-Port is mentioned. The monitors will arrive tomorrow and in case there really only is a Display-Port available for input and a normal DVI-to-Display-Port cable isn't working I will instantly send those 3 Acers back and order the Asus VG248QE instead (nearly 2 years old model now but highly praised as you might know). In case I am limited to the Display Port does it even make sense to try a DVI-to-Displayport cable/adapter or would I definitely need expensive stuff to make it work (in this case I really would just check for the ports and then instantly send it back if there is only the Displayport). I can't believe it. Available information on this monitor is so scarce and misleading that I really have to order it to confirm the available ports myself!

If you're okay with the latter can you let us know what driver version/cards you are using?

It seems I found the solution concerning the weird information about the input ports of the Acer Predator XB0-family. All the XB0-Predator monitors in the 24" - 27" range are available as G-Sync or non-G-Sync. In a very detailed review for one of the G-Sync monitors I found this "Like all the other G-Sync monitors on the market today, you are limited to a single DP input connection - no HDMI or DVI options are available" Indeed every page that I checked (including Acer's official page) lists the non G-Sync versions with Display-Port, DVI and HDMI while for the G-Sync versions only the Display-Port input is listed.

Nice find on the non g-sync versions, no sense in paying the additional money for the feature if you will never use it.

Indeed D-Man! Also I don't need to worry now that I have to instantly send the displays back when they arrive tomorrow. I continued my research and can confirm now that G-Sync (not only for the Acer displays) is generally limited to Display Port. Even if you upgrade your non G-Sync monitor with a G-Sync kit you then will be limited to the Displayport. There was only 1 mention of the XG270HU in this entire thread. That's the model that seems to be an ASUS ROG Swift PG278Q clone, but without G-Sync. It is: 27" 1440p TN true 8 bit 1ms gtg 144Hz I believe the panel is the same model AU Optronics panel - or a very, very similar one - as the ROG Swift. Considering it seems IDENTICAL to the ROG Swift, besides the exclusion of G-Sync, I would be highly surprised if it doesn't have Nvidia 3D Vision / lightboost, and some sort of strobing mode without having to do the Lightboost hack (eg. ULMB, BenQ Blur Reduction Mode, etc.). Not to mention just as thin, maybe even thinner, bezels than the ROG Swift. This really seems like the perfect monitor for me due to being an ROG swift w/out GSync which should drop the cost, i'm guessing, by at least $150 compared to an ROG Swift, if not more. The Acer XG270HU, by far, seems like the least talked about model of all the Acer Predator models which seems really weird considering it seems to be a clone of the most talk about/hyped monitor (ASUS ROG Swift PG278Q)...

Firstly, D-Man, wow, the first page, your comments were absolutely cringe-fucking-worthy. Leave the guy alone, he is trying to do research and is hyped up and wants to discuss what to buy. Damn, you are so, so green. So green, it got to the point where I started to get embarrassed for you, at how downright obvious it was to see that you were so, oh so green with envy and jealousy. Dude relax, just do not look at his threads...damn.. Anyway, OP I too have your dilemma. I want to move up from my 1080p 3D Vision monitor to possibly 1440p. I am not sure if there will be a big difference in detail though, that is what is holding me back and the really bad reviews of the ROG Swift I have been reading. This XG270HU looks very interesting indeed. I may hold out too, and see what comes out. I may even buy what you do, hahhaha. That is if CV1 comes out first, then I will not upgrade. I just can not wait for Oculus, I want to buy a monitor..lol In anyone's experience, what is the difference in image quality from 1440p to 1080p, assuming you can run at ultra? Is it really that big of a difference where it is noticeable? Or is it just something you brag about, but cant really tell the difference, like very expensive headphones vs moderate expensive headphones that both sound the same!
