I had flickering issue when i first bought 3d vision, then i upgraded my Power Supply unit to 1200W, earlier i was using 700W power supply, but i was using lots of usb hardware with my system. After upgrading my PSU no longer flickering issue for me. I was using 3d vision at 100Hz and lower resolutions like "1440x900" and "1280x800" when i had 700W power supply without any problems by the way.

Thanks debug i appreciate your help but i'm not looking for a solution to the problem i posted as when playing games i hardly get any flicker whatsoever and im using a 600w modular psu with loads of usb's, three hard drives, gtx 260, e7200 at 3.6ghz. I'm wandering if anybody else has the same issue when viewing the 3d pictures and to see if somehow it is linked to when playing games.
I am running GTX295 in Windows 7 x64. I can confirm that disabling Mutli-GPU mode in nVidia control panel fixed ALL flicker issues in my case.
Recap:
I had the same problem with white flicker in many games. Some scenes worth, some better.
I've tried following from this thread:
1) Disabling power saving
2) Using motherboard USB port
Did not help.
Disabling Multii-GPU mode fixed it.
I also USED to experience bad flickering but after I made two changes I rarely see a flicker although it isn't completely gone I measure them in flickers per hour instead of per minute.
1) Changed USB cable and positioned emitter directly in front.
2) Shut off Rivatuner monitoring altogether.
That's it. Flickers practically gone. I no longer even consider this an issue for me. On the other hand I now see that double vision at the top of my monitor that the other thread complains about. Ah well not perfect but I paid $129 for the glasses and $209 for the Viewsonic so I'm not complaining.

Here's an odd thing, which unfortunately doesn't help with troubleshooting, but is at least a data point:
I have two characters in Lord of the Rings Online. For one character, there is no flicker whatsoever. For the other, the flicker is nearly constant. Switch back to the original character, no flicker. Graphics options are set identically for both characters, and I've even tested this while viewing exactly the same "scene" in the game. Very odd.
Also, when playing the "non-flickering" character, I can turn my head so that the overhead incandescent light shines directly into the sensor on the glasses, and it will trigger instant rapid flickering until I look away. Not really a surprise, but a repeatable experiment at least... Obviously the overhead light is putting out some IR, but I still can't see how that might be related to the problem with the two characters.

Joining the Flicker Club. Its semi random for me so far, but I see it in various games. I do NOT have SLI, (but I have a dedicated PhysX GPU).
The flicker tends to be the Right eye, I don't know if it happens in the left as much, but I certainly notice it in the right eye.

Hi Jynx -
Yep, you've been Jynxed. Any data or observations you can make would be welcomed! I am somewhat heartened in that I do -not- think we have bad hardware. The fact that I can get it to work flawlessly with that one case seems to indicate that. That means sending it back to NVidia (unless we just want to wash our hands of it) isn't going to help anything.
I'm thinking I might try an upgraded video card (I have a GTS250). Everything is pointing to something in the load on the computer affecting the USB data throughput (the synchronization signal, most likely). Would more horsepower in the GPU make a difference? I'm not sure. Your post makes me think maybe I should try it with PhysX uninstalled, though...

I had this problem back in a day when 3D stereo driver worked with generic shutter glasses. I was using e-dimensional wired glasses, so I'm pretty sure it's got nothing to do with USB ports, PSU or wireless IR transmission. I can't remember if I solved the problem back then but I remember changing Vertical Sync option in 3D control panel made a difference. Hope this helps.

For me anyway......... i just loaded up a dragon age screenshot from here in the forums and noticed there is no cursor, then i moved the mouse around a little bit and the glasses started to flash, so i repeated the action with a res5 screenie and low and behold it started flashing and turned stereoscopic off completely!
Now it seems i can control when my glasses flicker with the mouse from within a screenshot which brings me to thinking the flickering is caused by issues perhaps on the desktop when in 3d mode????

So assuming this some sort of USB load issue then this sounds like it could be motherboard related. I wonder if there's some commonality in USB controllers with those having the issue or some way to reduce the load altogether. Those experiencing this problem should remove all other USB devices and see if this improves for them.

^^^ it has been tried by numerous people Skyeclad to no effect, the conclusion so far is that running a third party overclocking program or playing in SLI is causing the flickering although i dont do either and still get the odd flicker. My post above yours makes me think is could be something completely different but im hardly an expert, i'm just hoping nvidia are addressing this.

Just to be clear, I'm not running overclocking or SLI, so that can't be the root cause (of course, as you indicate, there may be more than one thing wrong). But both of those activities have in common that they increase the processor load, so it may yet all be the same thing. A few pages back, one poster ran tests with a USB sniffer and found anomalies, so that certainly points in that direction as well. I'm still playing with settings right now trying to figure out why one of my LOTRO characters flashes and the other doesn't!

Ok point taken but im not running sli or overclock either and i rarely get the flicker in games, but if i do overclock it becomes flicker city so how does a usb anomaly explain my scenario?? I bet you a usb sniffer would find anomalies in most peripherals given the chance.
Also CapnKilo did you get a chance to try out what i said in the post above, i just wandered if anybody else had the same issue but it doesnt seem anyone has tried?

It seems that driver development team is aware of the issue but can not fix it.
Stereo controlled through USB, occasional flickering of the glasses may occur
Professional, flicker free, stereo through the on board stereo connector
Just found this on nvidia driver download page: http://www.nvidia.com/object/quadro_pro_graphics_boards.html
Could it have something to do with grahpics card or USB controller sharing the same IRQ with another device?
If anyone still has old wired DDC glasses and could check if using them problem disappears?
Hope this helps.

Hi Jynx -
Yep, you've been Jynxed.
Regards and condolences,
Kilo

Now it seems i can control when my glasses flicker with the mouse from within a screenshot which brings me to thinking the flickering is caused by issues perhaps on the desktop when in 3d mode????
I'd love to know if anyone else can do this????
