3D desktop
Primary display: VIZIO 32 Inch Class Theater 3D LCD HDTV (passive 3D)
Secondary display: Dell 24 inch LCD monitor... I don't know the model
i7-2600K CPU @ 3.4 GHz
8 gig ram (corsair)
Windows 7 64 bit
GTX 560 Ti

I wish this 3D stuff was a little more user friendly. In order for my TV to recognize a 3D signal, the resolution has to be at 1920x 1080 with refresh at 24 Hz or at 1280 x 720 at 60 Hz. Neither looks good as my desktop resolution. I like it at 1920 x 1080 at 60 Hz.

I kinda have the gaming thing figured out where I can set the in game resolution to the 3D res (usually 1280x720 since most games don't give me the option to change the screen refresh)... then when I start the game, hit the 3D button on the TV. It goes back to 1920 x 1080 when I leave the game.

Watching 3D movies (Using TotalMedia Theatre or Power DVD 11 or NVIDIA 3D Vision Video Player), I have to go into my display setting and manually change the resolution to 1280x720 for it to work. Then manually switch it back.

An alternative would be to just leave everything in 3D mode but the desktop and internet are horrid with 3D on. Is there any program to overhaul my desktop so I can browse around in 3D? (or windows 7 settings?)

I have tried several google searches but found only frustration because searching for advice on 3D always seems to come up with results on 3D graphics and not anything to do with real 3D. As such, help has been hard to find. I spent 3 hours trying to figure out how to play avatar bluray 3D on power dvd 11. I finally got it working by installing TotalMedia Theatre. PowerDVD 11 only gives a black screen.

I am a total noob at this and welcome any advice, direction, or suggestions anyone can offer which may allow me to enjoy my 3D computer and TV more or at least ease some of my frustrations. A "noob's guide to getting your stupid 3D setup to do what you want it to" would be nice :)

Sorry but the only help I can give is to search for stereoscopic instead of 3D...

Good luck,
Andrew

Yeah, I do that. I have even tried putting in quotes, but I just get a lot of irrelevant results. In general, all of the search engines seem to be a lot less useful than they used to be but that is a topic for another forum.
