Right about to make the purchase need some help with questions.
Hello!

I'm right about to purchase this thing. I really liked what I saw in the stores. So before I do that I have a few questions.

I have a Mitsubishi WDY657 DLP TV its a 2007 model I believe. Would that work with this system? I'm unclear what exactly the requirements are.

Also I'm thinking of replacing my monitor with one that will work with the 3d set. It seems to me the only requirements are that its 120Hz LCD. Is that true?

I also read in some articles that two things display oddly and make it hard to play. I read that the cursor on MMOs, strategy games, RPGs ets, is hard to focus and use. Is this true?

I also read that same goes for the aiming reticle in FPS shooter games? Is this true?

Those 2 could be deal breakers for me. I want to enjoy the game in 3d but not to the point where it hurts my gameplay. I need honest opinions. Thanks for you help!

i guess you read my post from the issues ur worried about ^^ well yeh, those 2 things do happen, but trust me, im still playing, its still worth it even with those issues, and mostly those issues are only really a problem if you use high depth, so in games where u get issues like that you can just lower the depth and still get a nice 3d effect without problems. about the screen, im not the best person to tell you if it works or not, case i have no idea ^^; im using a samsung 2233rz

Alright I plunged and bought it (I do get a 30-Day Guarantee if I don't like it from Micro Center) and it does not work with my current TV. More so than 120Hz it needs a Stereo VESA connection, which my TV doesn't have.

I do have a question, If I play a game thats under the excellent category and it has some mods installed, ones that add new models and textures will that still work?

Also from someone who has tried it, how do games like Fallout 3, Oblivion and Gothic 3 look. I noticed they were not in the excellent category and I read in a review that games not in excellent don't look great.

I'm used to running my games at the highest settings usually. I read that I also have make compromises on my graphics, especially post effects, since the 3d uses the post effect.

Yes, mods are supported. Obviously it depends on the game and the mod, but in most all cases a game that is excellent at default will look excellent with custom models, tweaks, etc.

I believe those games are supported but may have a few visual glitches you must customize the settings to alleviate (and some you might have to live with).

Yes, in order to run in 3D you will many times have to sacrifice some visual quality. Things like HDR (Bloom) and other post-processing effects are notorious bad for 3D. However the visual gain you get from 3D more than compensates.

Thanks so much for your honest opinions. It really helps and after getting burned so many times I am a little tentative to support new technologies.

i'm a perfectionist when it comes to my games.. let me tell you though, that when it comes to the 3d effect i am willing to put up with the small issues. The mmo thing for example: WoW works just fine with the cursor as blizzard has worked together with nvidia to make it work correctly. Aion is also another beatiful game but suffers from the cursor problem as well and to be honest i don't CARE because it is easily one of the best 3d experiences out there! I'm am sure they'll fix that shortly aswell. As far as fall out goes you can actually turn off ingame xhair and just use the one provided by nvidia which works well for me in that game. You'll see once you have things up and running you will be able to deal with these shortcomings because in the end it's still the best experience you can have with that game...

(sorry for fast type, have family over had to hurry)
