I bought Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines on offer on Steam purely because it is rated as excellent by nVidia. Boot up the game and sure enough, the nVidia OSD says Excellent but it then says the crosshair is 2D! Worse you can't turn it off. Have you tried playing a game in 3D with a 2D crosshair? Talk about headache inducing. Strange the 3rd person crosshair is ok though.
Also the convergence is so low the 3D effect is lost, increasing it causes the 3D backgrounds to mess up to and the HUD to vanish
Note to self, 'never EVER trust nVidia's ratings'.

Never ever trust NVIDIA ratings older than 2009. Or maybe 2008. Something like that. I really wish they would remove the ratings that were done for the old system and just keep the 3D Vision ratings.
P.S. Never trust NVIDIA forum quick reply, either. Yet another post lost to that piece of junk.

It could be free and I still wouldn't bother downloading it mate - 2D crosshair. It's like trying to play with two small coins stuck in the middle of the screen!
Does anyone know a way to remove the crosshair? Incidently it is only the FPS crosshair. The 3rd person is fine!

It's not a practical issue. I play Starcraft 2 aiming between the 'two' mouse cursers and that's fine because you control the mouse. But I use mouse look and consequently the centre of the screen is where I focus and that is headache inducing with the 'two' crosshairs on screen. I couldnt play for long before I felt a headache coming. I try to swat them away, I really do but they never go away :(

Nah, that's not it. It doesn't happen when I hit Post, it happens when I set focus to some other program - like checking the 3D list to see what the settings say or popping over to Wikipedia to see when I game was released. When I click back on the text box with my message, the entire message gets erased. If I stick with the full editor I'm good.
Anyway....
Andysonofbob, I take it you are using the community patch?

RE community patch: Yes mate! First thing I put on was Wesp's unofficial patch 7.6. Played for about 10 minutes, tried to suss out how to remove the crosshair, failed and will prolly no longer play it again. Waste of money and time.

What I did:
Install all community patches, then download this no hud mod:
http://www.moddb.com/mods/desmondos-no-hud-mod-beta-10
Copy only the crosshairs (so the rest of the UI stays) from the mod to the vampire folder and use the nvida crosshair.
Works fine. Only convergence cant be changed, but with great deep it looks better than 2D :>
