There are some chipset drivers (MB) also.....do you have it updated?
Only for testing, try to use the MB sound and disable audio over HDMI in NV Control Panel.
Wanted to give an update. Switching to 59mhz works best for gaming but still suffers dropouts and frame freezes.
I gave up trying to watch blurays/3d blurays. A quote on another site from an excited member pretty much ended it for me. They said "I just watched avengers 3D and it was flawless. Only 3-4 times did the sound drop out.". This was from someone who spent a lot more time than my 20 hours tweaking and messing with settings. I decided if the *best* that I can expect is dropouts and having to have a keyboard ready to pop back forth - it is not worth it.
I went out, spent $99.00 and bought a stand alone blu ray player. I did not have to screw with settings, the sound and picture are perfect and I can actually enjoy movies.
So in my honest opinion I would steer everyone who is considering building an htpc for watching blurays away from it- unless they are willing to settle and are also prepared to spend a huge amount of time messing with settings and testing.
As for gaming - I think there are issues with nvidias drivers and hdmi. I tested both 560ti's and 680GTX - both sets had issues with my new HDMI set.
If you are reading this and trying to get the best experience with PowerDVDUltra then do yourself a favor. Go buy a stand alone player and leave all the headaches behind.
