IR emitter does not work
Brought a new PC which came last Tuesday. It was bundled with Nvidia 3d vision.

Pre-installed on the PC was 270.61 drivers. I used the CD from the Nvidia Kit to start the installation. I got the pop-up message.

Warning!
"This driver is intended for an earlier version of your graphic driver.
"Please go to www.nvidia.com and obtain a later stereo driver.
Pre-installed on the the PC was the 270.61 driver. I used the Nvidia CD for the kit to install the IR emitter etc.

Afterwards the IR emitter would turn green for about 20 seconds then turn off. I cant turn it on again using the on/off button.

When I checked device manager, it says the device is up to date and working fine. I uninstalled the driver and the IR emitter turned green constantly.

Im guessing the IR emitter I recieved is defective.

Im pretty annoyed by the whole situation.

P.S My graphic card is GTX560 Ti btw.

You only needed 270.61, your emitter in fine. Just install 270.61 again.

270.61 cmes with all you need. Uninstall your IR emitter and run the 270.61 driver again to reinstall your emitter.

Yeah, just ignore that CD for now. There's a nice demonstration video on it but that's about all there is of use on there now. Download the 270.61 drivers and install those. Use custom install and make sure everything is checked. Have it do a clean install as well.

Once that's done, right click on your desktop and pick the NVIDIA control panel. On the left side, pick "Set up stereoscopic 3D" then check the right side for 'Test stereoscopic 3D'. Click the down arrow to the right of that and select 'Run setup wizard' from the list. That should guide you through the whole process.

You'll also want to go to the NVIDIA website and get the 3D Media Player, but let's get this thing working first.

Cheers guys. It is working now. 3d is pretty amazing.

I think though Nvidia need to start updating the CD software so as to avoid confusion. They have so many drivers its hard to distinguish which one you need.

The changes are noted in the Release Highlights. Just as older drivers may not support newer hardware, the CD concept has been replaced by a, in my opinion superior, all in one package. As we say in the Army, "Time Spent Conducting Reconnaissance is Seldom Wasted". Kinda goes hand in hand with reading a dialogue window before clicking "Yes" or "OK".

Hi,

I wish this thread would continue being updated until the issue of having to use driver 270.61 FOR EVER would be changed to a new driver that will correct the problem with IR emitter so far.

Best wishes,
