H5360 Projector + 3D Vision Wired Glasses Annoying red blotches in dark areas of image
I just got my 3D Vision system all set up, and love it so far... The only problem is the annoying red blotches or red "tint" that seems to be caused by the glasses. I'm using an Acer H5360 DLP projector and a pair of 3D Vision wired glasses, which produce a great 3D effect despite the red tint. The red tint seems to bleed into the darker areas of the screen, making it more apparent in darker areas of games. Fire and bloom effects also look really distorted with the glasses on; like they're overly-bright and saturated.
And the tint is only apparent with the glasses on. With the glasses off, the game image looks normal; albeit with the double-image necessary for stereoscopic viewing. At least the colors are correct.
Are color shifts like this common when using nVidia's glasses? My screen is a bright 2.4 gain screen; maybe I can fix this by adjusting the gamma or something? Adjusting the projector's brightness doesn't help.

I suggest you try DLP Link glasses, they will not have the red tint issue. The difference is unbelievable, my friend has this projector and demonstrated the difference. In Darksiders, the asphalt appeared to be purplish with the Nvidia glases but was perfect with the DLP Link glasses. Ghosting was nonexistent with either.

Like these Ultra-Clears? With the nVidia glasses, yeah...everything's like a purplish-red color.

I've read that the Ultra Clears perform very well, but I've also read that the tint can vary between the lenses. I've read good reports thus far on the True Depth 3D rechargeables. Plus they have a sync signal invert on them.
But, I'd strongly recommend researching for yourself before purchasing. The above comments/reports I observed in the HD33 thread at AVS forumns.
Keep in mind that you still need the Nvidia kit or 3D Vision will not enable.

I actually had the exact same setup and EXACT same problem. I brought my wired 3D glasses from ebay, and when i noticed the red-tint, i sent them back, then the ebay seller had to send them back to the manufacturer for testing. After some weeks, when i finally got them back, they had sent me a wireless 3D vision kit instead - which wasnt really the same, but the red tint was gone, so im ok with that.

Dont get ultra-clear's they have green tint. For maybe 10 bucks more get the optoma 101 glasses. They are a bit dark but not a problem with 5360's crazy lumen's + 30% bigger lenses. Much higher qualitity.
No idea about true depth's they are newish saw them on amazon.

I wonder how nVidia's new 3D Vision 2 glasses would work. Think they'd also have the annoying red tint? I know Sack_ said his nVidia wireless glasses were fine.
DLP-Link glasses seem cheaper, though. With DLP-Link, I'd still need to have my wired 3D Vision glasses connected, right? Would those work in place of an emitter?

A Nvidia emmiter must be connected to enable 3D Vision. 3DTV Play does not require a Nvidia emitter to be connected, but is free as long as one is connected. 3DTV Play can be purchased for use without an emitter, currently $39.99 (3DTV Play can only be re-installed 5 times) 3DTV Play is for Displays that are HDMI 1.4 compliant only.
Since the 5360 is HDMI 1.3 it only works with Nvidia 3D Vision, so a Nvidia emitter is required to enable the stereographic driver.
It's possible that the new glasses may not have the red tint. If you do try them, please post back whether or not it's gone.
DLP Link glasses do not require an emitter, they get the sync signal via white flashes inserted inbetween the frames that bounce of the screnn to the glasses.

My friend was using the BG-ZD101 Optoma 3D DLP Link glasses, they were kind of bulky, but worked well. He has had no issues so far, but reading Amazon reviews, I see several varying complaints.

I'm unsure if the wired USB glasses would enable 3DTV Play, but they obviously do enable 3D Vision on your projector. So they would work in conjunction with DLP Link glasses.

So, wait a second. Ive always been curious about this. If I get those optima 3D link glasses, would I be able to connect and play my PS3 in 3D with the H5360?

My 3D Vision wired glasses worked fine with my CRT monitor, showing no colored tint; just the ghosting inherent with a CRT. But with the projector, the wired glasses look awful. Your wireless glasses work well with a projector, then?

If it was the 5360BD then yes,but the 5360 can not display frame packed, side by side or over/under without the use of a converter. You'll need either a Optoma 3D-XL, Viewsonic VP3D1, VIP Theater/Gamer/Displayer or 3DFury to convert the signal.

I should add that the Optoma 3D-XL and Viewsonic VP3D1 will work with other brands of projectors in most cases. But in some cases one may work whereas the other would not. As well in some caes neither will work.

Thanks dude, I had heard about the 3D-XL, but I wasn't aware of so many other solutions. Cheers
