Display Drivers Crashing happens too often gtx275 sli anyone?
Running 185.85 drivers on two gtx 275 F.T.W. cards in SLI. It doesnt happen all the time maybe once every couple days or so but just enough to annoy the hell out of me. While playing Wolverine/darksector it happens sometimes where the screen goes blank and the little blue light blinks as if no video source, and the sound loops as if its a skipping cd. Sometimes after about a min of this the drivers catch themselves and the game starts to run again, but other times it just keeps on going until I get a BSOD or I have to hard reset the machine. It has also happened with Left4dead and then started running again and after I got back out of the game I had a little message that said that I recovered from a display driver error. Im not even sure if this is a stereo problem or if nvidia drivers just suck right now for these cards, I know when I had my 8800gt SLI it took me 6 months to get drivers that didnt suck. If anyone else is running these cards or has the same problem could someone tell me whats going on.

It's not a stereo problem, or at least not necessarily. That error just means that Windows momentarily "lost" the gpu and then recovered by finding it again. Unfortunately there are lots of things that can cause that error -- everything from the card not getting enough to juice, to the gpu core overheating and throttling itself back, to a driver conflict, to a misallignment between Jupiter and Mars.

If it doesn't crash and you're able to actually get to your desktop again after it happens, you'll probably see a little yellow driver error icon in your notices area that says something about "Windows has recovered from a nvkddmkm.sys error" (or something like that).

Best advice is to do a clean re-install of the drivers (just in case) and to always manually set your gpu fans to 80-100% before gaming or benching. A lot of times that error can happen if your cores get too hot and have to throttle back.

Not sure how useful it is, but this error plagues so many people it has its own site: http://www.nvlddmkm.com/
