LG will be nowhere cool once apple comes out with their display stuff ( projector accessories , multi projector acessories, multi viewer TV) , hell , samsung will be barely cool, apple goes to pwn them in their home country ( south Korea) and they know that.
Hence all the PR happening over semantics , then active vs passive.
(Btw I posted recently info about a 2k vertical resolution quad scaler chip, it means it can easily compose 4 pico projectors into one picture, much bigger than 50" , and can be passive too)

This is not a monitor, it's still another HDTV and a small one at that.
When a display can do 1920x1080 /120 3D in frame sequential, not frame packing, that will be a big deal.
Perhaps its not a rebadging, maybe it has dldvi or Displayport... No specs have been released, so i hope its double vertical resolution with the new 300mhz chips which will do 1080p60. Although "that i doubt it" would be an understatement.

So obvious that only you could miss it:
" HDMI makes it a cinch to connect the DM50D"
Unless its running a receiver rated at 1080p/120 freq. IE SiI9587-3 and SiI9589-3, and the SiI9136-3 HDMI transmitter—all supporting HDMI® 1.4a with 300MHz speeds. Its not worth playing on with shutter glasses and defenatly not on circualr poloraized since we'd need a 4k res to support that freq at half.
