3D flickering different than others 3D glasses turn one lens off every now and then
EDIT: FIXED! Check below!
Okay thanks to everyone who provided all the helpful information!
Ok the steps i took were:
1) Uninstall all Nvidia drivers, including their rollbacks in safemode, booted back to windows and installed latest drivers (As of post 197.13)
2) Disabled ALL monitoring utilities, including GPU-Z, Speedfan ect.. (Just disable All utilities, like EVGA precision ect..) Task manager may need to be disabled for some!
3) Tested in all games and Nvidia test, immediate pass and no flickering!
Hey everyone i'm new here, so hope i can get my answer!
I have been experiencing issues only shortly after getting this kit, it is only 3-4 months old and i
didn't just pay $700 for something to last for such a short amount of time!
Problem is, no matter what game or settings i have in the game or Nvidia control panel, every
now and then one of the lens's will turn off for like half a second, then return to normal just as fast
and this is VERY annoying! If anyone has/had the same symptoms and fixed it i'm all ears!
My spec's are:
AMD Phenom II X4 955BE OC 3.6GHz (Yes i have tried returning to stock clocks)
*CPU Cooler: Corsair H50 Closed-Looped Water cooler
Patriot DDR3 1333MHz Stock clocks
Nvidia GeForce GTX285 (Stock Clocks)
Nvidia GeForce 9800GTX (For Physx) (Stock Clocks)
Antec TruePower Quattro 1000W
Gigabyte GA-MA790GPT-UD3H
Samsung SyncMaster 2233RZ @ 120Hz
I have the USB Hub (the 3D thing) plugged directly into the USB port, i have tried Every USB port and
even removed everything possible from the USB ports, and some ports flicker more than others.
Please help, i really don't want to say to my friends that this Nvidia 3D kit is not a good idea, i was
excited to show them at first but now i hesitate because i don't want them to know that Everyone
is having the same issue.

Try removing RivaTuner or EVGA Precision if you have either installed. Otherwise, it sounds like you may have faulty glasses. There are tiny wire connections in the arms of the glasses, my guess would be that you've got a wire coming loose in there. Try calling nVidia tech support and talking to them about it, they may let you rma your glasses. If they won't, you might want to try opening up the arm of the lens that's giving you trouble and checking the connections. It may be as simply as re-soldering a loose wire.
But definitely try nvidia tech support first.
And don't worry, you didn't waste your money. The problem you're experiencing is not the norm, you shouldn't be seeing one lens at a time blinking.

Thanks for the suggestions and help guy's!
I noticed some people suggested that this is normal, but this is indeed not.
when in 3D, every 10-20 seconds one of the two lenses (happens to both)
will flicker off for a split second, ruining the 3D until it stabilizes, and it is
very very abnormal, and hurts my eyes. this is not the normal flicker that
people are experiencing, such as the flickering all the time if looking at light
or something.
I tried all your suggestions, i don't have ASUS Probe, Kyson i have tried all
your suggestions and Chris NYC i didn't have Rivatuner or EVGA Precision.
I will call Nvidia tech though, thanks!
Do you have anything in the room that might be emitting IR ? Grab a TV remote and shoot yourself with it a little bit while wearing the glasses, is your problem anything like that? There are those other IR settings when you first setup your 3D glasses, maybe they're worth a shot, although I have no idea what they do.

well flickering is not normal as it is - it's issue in main
some games make flickering some another way - u lose 3d picture for second and then it builds again
i think it's very small annount of games that works without flickering on 120 HZ - i didnt see one =D but usually refreshing drivers and set 100 Hz saves flickering situation =\
anyway i should repeat - NO game i saw works without flickering at all. some levels of games may make less or more flickering but stable flicks every 10 seconds in any games seems too much
try Fallout 3 as test on 100Hz - this is the most stable game i played

Nope nothing like that, just every 10-20-30 seconds one of the lens' will just stop for about 20-30ms then return to normal, and no i don't have any IR devices in the room, it does the same thing when i darken the room, at night any time i try it just happens, kinda annoyed because this stuffs expensive.
I have gone through the Setup stages multiple times and selected each setting and tested, all yield the same results, thanks for the suggestion though!

guys
if you mean issue when one linse become black and another one become opened frequently - it's simple flickering. tehre is no cure for it, just setting low refresh rate and turning off recommended video settings in game

I will call Nvidia tech though, thanks!

well flickering is not normal as it is - it's issue in main
some games make flickering some another way - u lose 3d picture for second and then it builds again
i think it's very small annount of games that works without flickering on 120 HZ - i didnt see one =D but usually refreshing drivers and set 100 Hz saves flickering situation =\
anyway i should repeat - NO game i saw works without flickering at all. some levels of games may make less or more flickering but stable flicks every 10 seconds in any games seems too much
try Fallout 3 as test on 100Hz - this is the most stable game i played

Nope nothing like that, just every 10-20-30 seconds one of the lens' will just stop for about 20-30ms then return to normal, and no i don't have any IR devices in the room, it does the same thing when i darken the room, at night any time i try it just happens, kinda annoyed because this stuffs expensive.

if you mean issue when one linse become black and another one become opened frequently - it's simple flickering. tehre is no cure for it, just setting low refresh rate and turning off recommended video settings in game
