3D passive polarize filter question 3d
Hi Im building a 3D polarization filter setup. Im using 2 DLP toshiba TDP-90 projectors they put out 2200 lumens. Im looking for the right polarization filter for this setup, Ive heard linear is the way to go. I would also like to use glass filters for this app. I have contacted 3 different manufactures and the only response I got back was from Awater from Germany, and they just gave me a list of the filters not what would work best for my app. So if you guys would now of a manufacture to help me and or place to get the filters and about a dozen glasses. Also Im wonderin who makes the best software to veiw 3D content. Ive looked at Tridef and DDD is there any others that are goo. Thanks for any help.

Hi
I've got a polarised dual projector setup.
Linear is usually recommended over circular because of it's simpler, has less technical requirements, is cheaper and has a little less crosstalk than circular.
Since you use DLP projectors you can use either circular or linear, as you prefer. (i use LCD projectors, there are small issues between the filters alignment and the glasses with LCD proejctors, I'd get reduced quality and increased crosstalk if I were to use RealD glasses)

I got my filters from Silverfabric, I also bought the filter mounts to attach the filters to the projector lens barrel from them. A bit expensive for a piece of plastic, but does the job perfectly.
Silverfabric sells many different types of polarising filters that can take advantage of LCD or LCoS based projectors to spare more light output. But since you've got DLP projectors, you can only use the simple traditional filters.

For software, at the moment you'll need DDD or iZ3D, I'm not aware of any one being better specifically for dual projectors, there are synchronisation issues between the two outputs with any solution (even when using stereoscopicplayer, or Avatar the game which supports dual projectors natively on PC) This is caused by the Nvidia and ATi display drivers that don't maintain the two outputs in sync properly.
I found a work-around the sync issues with ATi eyefinity, It works perfect for films but for games neither DDD or iZ3D take advantage of it yet, I hope things will improve soon.

I give more details about the whole setup with pictures here :

here you can buy both the high quality foils and clip on glasses. 2200 is very hot. Either the foil must be huge, or it has to get some heat dissipating element like glass. I suggest building a hush box .

I want to order from that site, but without the customs hassle ( im in eu). I want to use the same polarization material both in front of the pjs and in front of my eyes ( put a piece of foil on clip on).

Blackshark, Likay going to confirm to you that the 8800GTX double DVI output with software frame lock is adequate, though I agree the hardware frame locked eyefinity variant is preferable. So maybe Radeon without hardware frame lock is not adequate , but geforce with software frame lock can drive a surround rig, so, the problem is with Radeons.
