VIEWSONICE PJD6211 (PJD6220)- SET UP PROBLEMS CANNOT GET IT / THEM TO WORK ?
  3 / 7
Hi Pele,

I hate to suggest the semi-obvious but have you tried your system with a 100+ Hz CRT? If I were troubleshooting this, I would try/borrow one from someone and verify that the rest of your setup is working. As it stands right now, it seems you don't really know if all else is good. I think you're most likely right to suspect the PJ but at the very least, if you try a CRT, you'll be able to have a little fun in the mean time while you decide what to do or wait for an update or something.

I hope it works for you.

hi iondrive,

thanks for the note.

I had'nt thought about a CRT for testing purposes, i've been that preoccupied with the PJ. (wood for trees !!)

I will have to borrow one from work as we've got some old CRT's knocking around that can refresh at around 90-100hz.

cheers.

Ok, as I am reading and hearing more about problems with these new Veiwsonic PJ's and 3D Vision, this thread might be useful to someone else:

I can by using the CD 1.10 drivers, view the various 3D movies in 3D.

I downloaded the demo's from the Nvidia site and they work fine.

Games however, are still another matter entirely.

I eagerly await the new drivers - ETA > SEPTEMBER.

Hi,

Thank you for your prompt reply.

Can you please confirm to me for the avoidance of doubt if the VIEWSONIC PJD6211 is compatible with the Nvidia 3D vision system ?

According to the Nvidia website and also via their forum, as detailed in my previous emails, it is not.

However, your very own website, amongst other things, claims that it is ?

This is as clear as mud !

I look forward to your clarification.

Lets hope they will clear things quickly, because I'm still holding back on ordering one of the new models 11 or 21 because of the issues... and since I'm going to order it form the States and have it delivered to Europe (still can't find them anywhere in Europe) the option of returning the projector back if it does not work correctly with 3D Vision is well... not considered at all. ;)

Unfortunately I do not live in UK and this shop doesn't ship to other EU countries... And of course I do not want to get a 3D vision compatible projector that is actually still not compatible... ;)

Guys,

Viewsonic PJD6220-3D is compatible with NVidia 3d Vision. I tested it on all the games I have
(Oblivion, Crysis Warhead, GTA 4, Battlefiled 2, etc....) It does work. Some games like GTA 4 is out of
sync at 1024 x 768 resolution. The trick to get them sync is toggle between 2d and 3d for several
times (CTRL T). This might trigger reset on some PCs. But after you log on, just run the games. They will run at 1024 x 768, 120hz.

I own the infamous Viewsonic PJD-6220-3D, and we have all heard the problems! So I applied the 1.5 firmware patch!!!

AND GUESS WHAT!!!

NOT A DAMN DIFFERENCE AT ALL.

I can only hope this can be resolved with a new driver from Nvidia. Ive completely given up on Viewsonic. They wont even reply to me anymore.

Im so choked, this is not how a company should act. We can only hope they are busy at work trying to solve these issues.

Andrew, you said your in house Viewsonic projector has no issues at all. Can you confirm this? Why is everyone else having issues but you guys arent?

Tonight Im gonna try the 1.10 drivers. Maybe that will work.

2000$ is too much to spend on a 3D system with crap results.

So Sad...I really hoped this firmware upgrade would have fixed all the issues. The question has to be, what did that firmware do (if anything)?

Did it definately flash properly? Does it now say 1.5 in the menu of the projector? I can't think they would go to the trouble of releasing a firmware update that doesn't fix anything.

I'm still waiting to hear back from Optoma who reckon they should have 3d projector solutions available soon.

Ok, here goes.

I have been able to get the games now working with the PJD6211. /clap.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

I am not sure if its either the new drivers and a combination of the following, or simply and exclusively the following, but,………

(sheepish look on his face as he types....) /whistling.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':whistling:' /> :">

The PJ is on a shelf where my old Sony VPL HS-60 was, above and behind me. Now, beause the VS PJD6211 does NOT have a "Lens shirt" i have had to Invert it.

There is a setting on the PJ next to "3D sync" called "3D invert" , which i selected.

However, and as pointed out by BULLRIPPER on the 07th August, it does not seem to make any difference what so ever.

So by pure accident, after a couple of large glasses of Red wine on Friday night, i put the glasses on upside down, whilst messing around and guess what..........3D gaming !!! /spaz.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':spaz:' /> /spaz.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':spaz:' /> /spaz.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':spaz:' /> /spaz.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':spaz:' /> /spaz.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':spaz:' /> /spaz.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':spaz:' />

/geek.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':geek:' /> /geek.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':geek:' /> /geek.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':geek:' /> /geek.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':geek:' /> /geek.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':geek:' /> /geek.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':geek:' /> /geek.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':geek:' /> /geek.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':geek:' />

I must say, TR LW and L4D are jaw dropping !.

I even bit the bullet and told my wife I had purchased the kit, in a moment of ecstasy at getting the damn thing to work, and showed her the 3D stuff , Lara et alii, and I got a “WOW”.

Now, that doesn’t sound much, but Esther has no interest what so ever in games or indeed technology. So I will take that to my grave !

Thank you to all who helped and please forgive my stupidity....although in my defence.....i would not have thought the PJ's invert did not work much less to try the glasses on upside down !! DOH !

........THE END.........?

So we need to deactivate "3D invert" and use the glasses normally, or have to activate it and play with the glasses upside down?

The 3D invert as far as i can so far fathom does not effect anything.

If i play the PJ the correct way up with the glasses it's fine.

The issue i have was that my eyes were getting the wrong render,.....so looked like a sync issue, (left eye getting righy eye signal) which i guess it was but of my own doing !

I would say get hold of one of these PJD6211's if your looking for a relativley and compatativly cheap( see Depth-Q)
large 3D solutions.

I am intrigued to see what these projected "September" drivers / FW will deliver once the Certification process is completed ?

But it does work and i have tried the games on most peoples 3D must have lists and they are excellent.

I cannot however, get any where nearthe "100 %" depth some people claim.....at most (TR LW) i can at best go to 40-50 % whilst playing around with the convergence.

Bloody, if there is a way of getting you one of these from the UK to Bulgaria let me know if i may be of assistance ?

pele01, It would be very helpful if you can point me to some UK online shops you know that ship to European Union and have Viewsonic PJD6211 or PJD6221. ;)

As for the depth level it depends on the screen size and resolution and you may even have to play with the convergence settings, because I believe that the profiles in the drivers are designed to be providing good results with the two 22" LCD monitors in mind and not with larger screens. Previously Nvidia's Stereo Drivers had an option to choose your screen size, but now it is gone so you might need to compensate. Although this is just an assumption, because I still haven't tried 3D Vision on anything bigger than the 22 inch Samsung.
