Mine's more like a 7 year cycle for pc building. Built this PC in 2011 with SLI gtx570 and my first 3d vision monitor (2233rz still hooked up to the kids' pc). Then bought the gtx 780 in 2015 and my current ASUS VG278 monitor. I'm hoping to have enough money next year to build an entirely new machine. And yes... Nvidia all the way. I must have the option for 3d vision.

Yeah unfortunately I'm more 'into' 3D than my wallet will ever allow... I'm broke/poor, so not that much... *sigh* 2012: a GTX 550ti refurb($100) and eventually a GTX 670($400)... and a used emitter... 2015: 3D Vision 1 Kit($50) 2016: An Acer GN246HL($180)... if that counts... I did do a 'cheap' build for someone recently with 3D Vision support, same monitor($180) and a GTX 1050ti($160) good for older games... getting their feet wet. :)

I still love 3D Vision, and have been loyal to NVidia since 2011 only because of it. Since that time, I've gone through a GTX 580, 680, 980, to my current 1080Ti. I'm still using my trusty Optoma HD-66 DLP projector, too. I really want to try a 4K monitor or TV as a display, but I think I'll still use my 720p projector for most gaming as long as the community keeps 3D Vision viable. I want to let out a huge THANK YOU to all the Helix modders/shader hackers out there. My Steam wishlist basically mirrors the Helix mod game fix list. I'm currently playing through the Witcher 3 in 3D on my 100" screen, and it is freaking fantastic! I'm still blown away by quality stereoscopic 3D.

Hmm... 2009, - 3D Vision Kit 1 x2 (one full price, one from a friend who had a bigger head and the glasses wouldn't fit without discomfort. First Samsung 2233rz monitor. Started 3D Vision Surround in 2011 (When it was introduced) with 3xSamsung 2233rz (still have them) and dual GTX590 (one exploded 6 months later and got my momeny back and stuck with just one). 2014 - Upgraded to 2x780Ti GPUs. 2014 - Bought my Alienware M14x Laptop explicitly for 3D Vision Ready screen. 2016 - Upgraded to 2x980Ti GPUs. 2016 - Upgraded my 3D Surround rig with 3x 27' Asus Monitors. (This is without all the other PSU, MOBO, CPU, bla bla bla more mundane upgrades). You can do the math of the cash! I don't even want to think about it now... (Am I "rich"? Hello NO! But gaming and technology was always my passion and things I want to do;) So, I don't build a PC - I make an investment ^_^ into my passion! ) But, yeah.. Lot's of money went on Nvidia Hardware...

i started gaming back in the days when there was awsome games like need for speed 2 and heavy metal. or most awsome nomad soul. if i remember correctly my first gpu´s have been 3dfx voodoo2 plus some 2d card... :D ..dont even remember how many cards it was before first nvidia. geforce 256 geforce 3 ...was over 700 euros when released. and propably one of the gpu´s that was old as fast as a lightning strikes black perioid...xbox and 360... i remember i bought a 660ti (370€)when i got back in the game another.(250€) 980ti (730) swapped 980ti for titanx (pascal) with 400 cash. i have had few ati cards in the middle but don´t guite remember the perioud. total cash spend in nvidia hardware has been propably three grand in total in course of time. im from a mediocre family and money has always been from hand to mouth but still i have managed to get the hardware i need sooner or later. life is full of compromises. i also say DITTO to quote from RAGEdemon´s post "I have supported you nVidia. I like the fact that when I submit a EDID for nvidia, they update the drivers for the projector onto their 3D Vision list for projectors for compatibility. In particular for ones that support frame-sequential.

2009: After buying my first good PC (debatable. I bought a Core 2 Duo), I read about the first 3D 1680x1050 Samsung monitors. I was intrigued, but I had just bought a 1920x1080 monitor (that reached 76Hz). 2011 or 2012 (I don't remember): my parents bought the 3DS for my brother. I bought some games too. Woah! 3D is great! I wish I could have it for PC. 2013: I bought my next PC (which I had until recently). No money for a monitor this time. 250€ for the GTX 760. 2014: time to buy a high refresh rate monitor. The BenQ XL2411Z (279€). I had been looking at the 3D Vision 2 kit, wondering if I would like it. It was almost never on stock in the store I bought it. But this time, when I bought the monitor, there was stock! And cheaper than before (125€)! And free shipping thanks to the monitor! So I bought it. Tried a few games, but there were broken effects in some games I tried to play (I couldn't know how to describe them at that time). I discovered Helixmod day 1, but those games didn't have a fix, so I was more fond of 2D 120Hz. Half a year later, I began trying more games. Dark Souls sold me on 3D like no other game. Then I couldn't stop playing in 3D, and to this date I can count with one hand the number of polygonal games that I played in 2D (that were available in 3D). 2015: in September-October, I started fixing games. I stumbled upon the first game that I HAD to play in 3D (Dark Souls 2 SOTFS), but it didn't have a fix. It was time to start learning. 2016: my GPU was limiting me a lot, so thanks to the job I got in 2015, I bought the GTX 1080 (749€. Damn too much, but it arrived just in time for a 2 week vacation, and I played The Witcher 3 all that time). One or two months before that, I bought the Dell S2716DG (495.71€). 2017: I bought a second 3D Vision 2 kit (150€, I think). Just in case, and to have a second pair of glasses to play with friends. Also, new PC (except for the GPU and storage) two months later.

I'm too lazy to think through everything I bought for 3d vision, but I originally got my first 3d monitor just for sim racing, I had no clue really how 3d looked I just thought I wanted it. Turns out I thought it was the most amazing shit I ever seen, I then purchased an obutto cockpit and accessories and such thinking I would upgrade to triples later. But my adhd gets the best of me, I just stopped doing sim racing for a while and just the play the awesome normal 3d games, then vr got popular and tried assetto corsa in the DK2 and was blown away by the immersion, but I dont see myself giving up 3d vision for a long time it is still very goood.
