Asus Notebook with Optimus 540M - Problem with Acer 120HZ Monitor
Hello
I just signed to this Forum after spending hours over hours.
I recently bought a Acer GN245HQ Monitor with 2 3D Modes - 120 Hz via DVI and 3d over HDMI 1.4.
As I had an sony Notebook with ATI Grafics I sold it and bought a new Asus X7BS with sandy bridge Grafics HD3000 and an NVIDIA Geforce GT540.
I believed as promised in the FAQ and Data that 3D Vision would run superb.
But NOTHING.
I tried and tried.
The OPTIMUS alwaays starts the onboard Grafics and the Acer 24 Zoll 3D Monitor becomes second Monitor and the nvidia card does not detect an 3D Display.
Also when I turn the Acer as primary monitor.
The system sees to run always on the intel crap grafic and only when it is need to be activated.
Problem is that e.g. Power DVD Ultra does only recognize the Intel Card - not NVDIA.
I tried in the settings everyting and I know to start an app with the otion to use the nvidia gpu but nothing.
1st - the programm only detects intel grafics
2nd the program does not detect the 3D Monitor because it is always the secondary display in the windows 7 settings.
I can not change this.
I also tried the setting in the nvidia panel to run all apps with the power grafics but even then no app detects the 3D Monitor.
The 3D Monitor is connected over the HDMI Port. The Asus as all new notebooks do not have DVI anymore.
I also tried the dvi input on the monitor with a dvi to hdmi connector - nada nothing.
I laso bought roxio cineplayer 3d - and the same thing here.
So i blame the nvidia optimus technique here. I just want an option to complete disable the onboard intel grafic.
Then the System would detect the monitor and I would have all options in the nvidia panel.
Can you please help me ? The Asus has the newset BIOS and all the newest drivers. Nothing.
I also triecd the old asus drivers nothing.

Thank you I allready contacted them and they say its proper implented as NVIDIA told them. I think they do not have a good support team.

So I bought a 1100 Euro Notebook and 440 Euro 3D Monitor for nothing.
Both have big NVIDIA Logos and then it is the intel grafic which makes it not work.
Oh my god.
Sorry - I am thankful for your fast answer - I go and contact asus again.

Depending on the Optimus implemtation, it may not be able to run 3D. Contact your OEM and ask if the HDMI is routed to the Intel GPU.
