Valkyria Chronicles
  1 / 3
That hot new PC release Valkyria Chronicles just came out a few days ago! Has anyone been able to get it to show 3D? By default, I get no 3D output. With the Prototype or Arkham City profiles there's also no 3D output. With Google Earth profile there is 3D output, but it's a flat depth, as in the game itself is flat, just projected from a few inches within the screen, and convergence locked. Has anyone been able to get the game to go full 3D appropriately?

No luck here either. I've also tried the Prototype-profile, vsync on/off and 60/120 hz refresh in the options. Oddly enough, Valkyria Chronicles II works just fine in 3D on the PPSSPP emulator O_o Perhaps there's a flag in an ini- or cfg-file somewhere to set s3d=true.

Maybe chiri's solution might work. It has on a few others. https://s3.amazonaws.com/chiri/D3Dx.rar

I'd try other profiles and/or dropping the HelixMod debug in the folder with it and if it doesn't just 'fix' something(Signal Ops), I'd try cycling through the Shaders and see if one of them is causing an issue(?)

Attaching "Valkyria.exe" to the Google Earth profile will do the trick and activate 3D :) There are still 2 issues though: 1) The game slows down to a crawl in 3D. 2) You'll have to scale depth back to 0, so the effect is basically relying on convergence only. Still, the 3D watercolor art is quite breathtaking in some of the cutscenes ^^

Well... I did try it, but it's not that great.. 3D kicks in, and as Grysor said you have to play it at 0 depht, but know all light effects is in 2D ;/ But no crawling here - game runs at normal speed with or without depht ? Other suggestions anyone ?

I picked it up but shadows are beyond me especially since I am WAY out of practice. Posting here in case anyone decides to pick it up. This will force game to render in 3D. Only things that are borked are shadows and hud if you use aion profile. DX9SETTINGS.INI [general] DefSquareSurfaceMode = 1 SurfaceCreationModeList = 0;1; [SF0] DefMode = 1 ExceptSquare = false Format = 21 Usage = 2 [SF1] DefMode = 1 ExceptSquare = false Format = 75 Usage = 2

Well it needs a lot of time consuming work like hud, face camera, map, etc even ignoring shadows. Besides shadows its visually clean. If someone ever looks into shadows Id do it because it would be worth it but not really otherwise. Im pretty much just posting this in hopes that someone more skilled picks it up at least to look at shadows. Someone may have already tried and ran into 2D problem I figured. Its just one of those quirks that only I ran into and know solution for. Can try to sign up here on wishlist and hope someone notices. http://helixmod.blogspot.com/2016/01/wishlist.html Its a real solid game. I beat it twice on PS3. I love these kinds of strategy [XCOM/FF TACTICS/ THE BUREAU/ETC] not a fan of the real time strategy which is like 95% of the market nowadays.

I don't have the skills to fix the shadows, but I'm glad you got it to actually render in 3D. The Google Earth profile didn't work very well.

MAYBE Ill see what I can do and hope someone looks into shadows. Really depends how much it nags me since I really dislike going into a game that I know I like knowing it won't be perfect. Stategy Rpg is my favorite genre. [As people can probably tell by avatar] I even love the ones that are not even well regarded like The Bureau. I actually beat this game twice on PS3. ----------- Googleearth is not really for a 3D game. Basically the only games where your going to get any good results. Is a 2D game with a layered look. Like Shank/castle crashers or something similiar. If people see compatiblity 3d/z-buffer 3d as fake 3d its pretty much fake fake 3d. Its not for games with actual geometry.
