Projector sync problems
Hi,

I have SLI GTX 580s and am trying to set up stereoscopic 3D on a viewsonic PJD7583w projector which is 1280x800/120hz native. I had problems setting up the 3D vision at all initially so pulled the EDID pins out of the DVI to VGA adapter so that the projector looks like a generic CRT to the PC. I have then been able to set up and test stereo 3D and it works, at least flakily. However, when I try to set a resolution of 1280x800/120hz (or indeed 1280x720/120hz) at 120hz the projector reports in it's menu and the popup that displays on syncing that the actual resolution being received/displayed is lower, for example 1024x768/120hz.

I haven't a clue what could be wrong, other than being vaguely suspicious that it could be cables. I _can_ sync at the full native resolution at lower, non-3d refresh rates (60hz for example). I tried 100hz at full res but that doesn't work either.

The other odd thing is that throughout all this the PC continues to report (in both the windows screen resultion dialog and in the nvidia control panel) that the selected 1280x800 resolution is active even though in the projector menu it is clear that it is not and that actually something like 1024x768 is being used (I tried a few different resolutions and the projector reported various results, I can't remember exactly which displayed res corresponded to which selected res, but they were all around 1024x768 or thereabouts).

Any ideas?

This projector is not a supported 3D Vision model so who knows what is going wrong...
