Guys I can tell you for fact that if the driver was ready they would release it. They're not going to hold back something if it's ready. Why would they? Just for $|-|it's and giggles? If it's not out it means it's not ready.

And people wanting a date. Please, get a grip. IF they give a date and then a bug shows up, then they have to turn around and let everyone down and have everyone pissed off. Why would they want to do that?

Honestly, I'd much rather have them take their time and do it right then to try and rush it out the door. The latter scenario is only going to lead to issues which none of us want to have to deal with.

Have some patience boys.
DJNOOB, it is you who needs to get a grip. Nobody requested a date, Nvidia released a date, remember, and it was April 2010. And nvidia sent me an email on the 28 April stating stereovision is here, release date April 2010. I and others now have a reason to ask for a release date as they were false advertising. Anyway's I have returned my 480's and monitors and got a refund. The shop owner was spitting feathers with nvidia and I was laughing my head off.

Seriously?!

I think you might come to regret that decision once the drivers are out, but hey, it's your choice.

Gutted, but by the time nvidia do release a driver the hardware might well have dropped in price. I for one will not lose money due to nvidias false advertising. I urge others to do the same.

how is it false advertising when they cleary said it would work WHEN THE DRIVERS ARE RELEASED. loads of companies push their software back time and time again, we all know what happens when rushed software comes out to the market (AoC and WAR are 2 examples that pop in my mind).

in the end its ur own fault for not waiting for the software before spending ur cash on the hardware.

No, they said the drivers would be released in April. You didn't get the email, obviously.

Listen to Tom Petersen Director of Technical Mkt at NVIDIA at 3:50. He uses the word 'Available'. Half a million viewers duped.

Slipstream, you really need to relax. Ok they said 'scheduled for April', the emphasis being on scheduled. If you can't stomach the delay of a new tech by a month or two, so be it, but in that case I'd seriously suggest you get a real life. None of us are thrilled the drivers aren't out yet, but moaning and exagerating isn't gonna help any either. Be happy with your choice of having sold your equipment, but then also stop posting here.

Well, Summer doesn't officially end until September, and until the drivers are released a Summer "scheduled" release doesn't mean it will be released. So it could be delayed as much as 5 months (from April to September) and meet the current "scheduled" date. Or it could be later.

Just saying it isn't necessarily "a month or two". (It could be 2 months if they got it out right at the start of Summer, but doesn't have to be that soon.)

The video was made before the cards were even released so obviously the word available was not the proper word to use as the cards themselves were not "available."

I will say that the video could be viewed as slightly misleading and lead some people to think that 3D sorround would capable as soon as the cards were released. However in other communications regarding the technology it was made clear that this was still being worked on and would be available at some point in the future.

So where's that email annoncing 3D Surround was here?

Below is the part of the email advertising 3D Vision Surround. I received it on April 30th. If only the marketing department had know how this mail would aggrivate the crapstorm regarding the R256, I don't think they would have sent it out.

that looks pretty much like just a newsletter and nowhere in that pic did they mention release dates for the new driver set. did ppl just assume its ready because they got a newsletter? o_O

like i said a couple of posts ago, should've waited for the tech to be actually working before shelling out the big bucks. well ppl can always go with ATI's 3d solu...... wait what?

PS: Blizzard pushed back release dates on pretty much every game including WoW and we all know how that ended up.

And did people buy Hardware based on the assumption that the Blizzard software was working?

Basically those people who bought the 400 series Vid cards were under the impression that 3d sorround was going to be functional at purchase, then the adverts on the sites pointed towards an April release date.

I don't know how many people wasted the 300 to 500 bucks on a 470/480 just for Dx11 support, And I don't know how many people would have waited if Nvidia had explicitly stated that "while the 400 series will support 3d Sorround in the future at this point we cannot give you an ETA on the Release date".

On the other hand it is up to us consumers to do the research, that's one reason why I didn't jump on the 470/480 bandwagon. I would have been overly upset if my hardware was only 50% functional after I spent 100% of the full price.
