Hi Andrew
My next question would be, what will the 3D Vision 2 Glasses offer that the 3D Vision 1 glasses cannot provide when used on a older monitor with only 3DV1 support?
Will the viewing content be more enjoyable when using the 3DV2 glasses as a posed to the 3DV1 glasses on say a Acer HN274H? Or will the 3DV2 glasses only output 3DV1 visuals?
I guess what I'm trying to say is, what is the benefit in using 3DV2 glasses on a monitor (that has a built in transmitter) for 3DV1? (in particular, a Acer HN274H)
Thank you for your time.

Hi
You can use a 3DV2 pair of glasses with all older IR emitters whether they are USB or built in. The new glasses wont improve the brightness of the older monitors since 3D LightBoost is built into new monitors. The glasses are more comfortable and do fit better with headphones.

Ther are other 120Hz displays even larger than than this Acer. It wasn't even the first. Consumer grade toys are never the first. This wouldn't have sold if it weren't for the 3D vision --especially at $700.

Hi
I wanted to at least respond to your statement here. There are HDTVs that support 120Hz refresh rate but they do not support inputting 120Hz. This is a limit over HDMI that doesnt allow you do that. This is only possible over DL DVI and DisplayPort.

I'm interested to know if the crosstalk on the new ASUS VG278H is improved, if so, by how much?
Many people told me that the Acer HN274H was a very good 3D monitor, but the crosstalk was both annoying and highly visible in just about every game I played, even with recommended monitor setting tweaks all over the internet. I just shipped my Acer HN274H back to newegg for a refund because I saw you guys releasing the ASUS VG278H and in the promotion picture I saw was *Reduced 3D Ghosting / Crosstalk!*.
In short, is crosstalk visible still? How much improved over the Acer HN274H? Is it still more noticeable on the top/bottom of the monitor then it is in the middle (If crosstalk is still noticable)
I'd like to hear what you have to say about this matter before I buy another monitor and have to send it back to newegg from hawaii at $85 shipping.
Thank you.

Hi
Yes we have made some improvements in reducing the ghosting in panels. I have compared it to the Acer HN274H we have and the ASUS VG278H definitely is better for 3D quality.

Andrew, were there any medical tests of 3D LightBoost? IMHO, sending 60 double-brightness flashes per second to an eye isn't a health upgrade.
Also, did i misunderstood or was it said that brightness adjusts when there's no ghosting on a screen? Could you please tell more on this matter: how is it detected that no ghosting is present, and wouldn't it mean that brightness is adjusted for a short periods, in scenes with less potential ghosting?
Hi
We did do some research into the brightness boost and so far it hasnt had any issues. But to he honest, we havent done any specific medical test.
And yes, your understanding of 3D LightBoost is basically correct. If you check online for reviews from PC Perspective and Hardware Canucks they have some write-ups on how 3D LightBoost works.

I've cleaned the thread up of irrelevant and undesirable posts.

When can we expect more LightBoost monitors (23-24 inch models) to hit the market? Within a month or is the time frame going to be longer?

There should hopefully be some more news in November.
Well, this certainly throws a wrinkle in my plans!
I was actually going to buy the Acer 27" 3D screen tomorrow, but then I read about the new version 2 glasses, and figured I should check to see which version glasses were to be included with that monitor. This certainly answers that question!
Can't justify buying old technology right now. But I'm in a bind, since I was planning on passing my old 2D screen on to my wife to use and she has a need for it REAL SOON. Which means if this Asus screen doesn't become available REAL soon, then it looks like I will just have to pass on this 3D stuff completely. At least for now. Don't really want to buy the wife a screen, plus get a 3D screen for myself and have a perfectly good 27 inch 2D screen gathering dust.

You sure? You could probably get it for a lot cheaper as stores try to clear out the old stock. It's not like the old technology is suddenly going to break because something newer and a bit better comes out.

Being that you refer to nvidia in a similar light to apple. Perhaps nvidia could offer something similar to what apple did and offer a discount to customers that purchased the new asus model; to those that can prove they purchased there acer model in the last year. Apple offered a $100 credit towards its customers when the iphone updated in less than a year back in 07.

currently a surround gamer, and not going to go with new lightboost hardware...not that I cannot afford it; it just doesn't make any sense to buy three new monitors because of it.

if the monitor and glasses kit is going to cost $699 is it a safe bet that it will be around £444 at the current exchange rate?
