HOTDOG! Back in the game.....almost! Placed an order for a $200 6 Core
1 / 2
I have had to put my gaming on hold as my old x2 4200+ no longer could play.........anything really lol. I have bee eyeballing the new 6 cores but when NCIX listed theirs at $201 I crumbled and bought it. My new baby will be here in a few days and cost me less than $240 with tax, insurace and shipping WHAHOOOO! I will set it aside untill i can find a sale on a mobo that works out of the box with this cpu AND works with Nividia GPUs', any help on this part would be appreciated greatly :).
I had not even played the new gta above 12 fps befor i put it away and gave up completely on bbc2 Mp. Oh i just cant wait!!!!

If you will read he said he already purchased the new Phenom X 6 He calls it a six core CPU which is fine. Its socket AM3 all day long.
The issue you will face OP is this. Only a mobo that is released after the chip hit the market will work out of box. Other wise you will need a CPU thats native to the mobo and flash your mobo bios to the newest version. Be sure to do you homework and make sure the mobo you get will indeed support the thuban CPU with a bios flash. The AM2+/AM3 mobos should also run that CPU with a bios flash.

He seems to be suggesting that he got a new AMD but since he hasn't actually stated anything and I prefer not to assume; might just be me not liking to jump to conclusions but it comes with my field of study (computer science).
For content, as long as you stick with a single gpu (or two gpu on single chip) solution then any mobo with pcie(x8/x16) support will do. The only thing you will likely have issues with is trying to have sli/crossfire as those need to be supported by the chip maker.

PS I am not trying to be such the smart arse, just breaking things down . I know many times there are issues with crossing language barriers and such. And when peoples profiles are not filled out completely you can never be sure if thats the issue or not. I mean no offence.
PS there are only a couple of AMD capable mobo left on the market that support SLI natively. AMD = ATI so it only makes sense for them to go that route.

You are exactly right, he already bought the CPU but he has never stated the exact make or model of it. If you are not looking to be a smart ass or "start a war" then don't make a comment like

I am not saying that you can not read or that you are wrong in any way. I am only stating that he has never directly mentioned what he has purchased. If you are that much better at "reading" than I am, you would have understood that from my previous post where I deliberately mentioned that I prefer not to assume what he has purchased. Hell, I even agreed with you that yes; he probably did purchase a Phenom II x6.
Anyway, lets drop all of this and let the guy's thread get back on topic.

Sorry guys, my bad. I have purchased but not recived the cpu yet, hopefully Wednesday. Its the slower of the two available six cores from AMD- 1055T hexcore @ 2.8 ghz, turbo mode to 3.2 on 3 cores only. I was hoping for a mobo with 2x pcie-16x. I will use my 250 gts now and move to physics later. To be honest its a budget build so im not too picky with the mobo-just as long as its plug and play easy, no bios flashing. Dual gpu is a nice extra but will not stop me from buying. MOST important is a board that will run AMD but tailored to a nvidia gpu (its all about the 3d vision) so i dont want any conflict (read flashing in my lens).
I hope to run this rig for another 2 years of gaming befor retiring it to the media room to run a 3d projector.
I want to purchase the mobo and ram in the next few weeks, at least by the end of next month anyways lol. It would be nice to get both for under 250$ with tax and shipping.
Thanks, any info or suggestion are very welcome :)

If I was to suggest something. I would gotten a Intel Core i5-750 ( or better, and still under $250 ) Lynnfield 2.66GHz 8MB L3 Cache LGA 1156 95W Quad-Core Processor with cost Newegg $199.00 and Motherboards would be easy to find and as cheap or cheaper....But I can only suggest. You also would need a vido card to jump you up, even through the cpu is only a 2.6 I probable is faster than the one you ordered, good luck with what ever you get......CHEER
BTW: Six cores for game is not a must have, and will be a while befor it is worked into the games.

anybody using this 6 core for 3d vision yet? It would be nice to have some first hand expearance :) I think i have found a good compatable mobo. Now to wait for a mobo/gpu combo to show up on sale and im in like flin

I dont think you will see a large improvement because hexacores arent used in older games. New games like Final Fantasy XIV will use all six cores though. I own a phenom II x6 1090T and it runs on par to the i7-920 non-overclocked pretty much. It would dominate the i7-920 in apps that support 6 cores for sure.

Woot, great link. My current cpu is not even listed. Its a few years older then the last posted amd cpu lol. A lot of AMD boards dont support SLI because AMD makes the ATI Radeon cards which you can crossfire. I think if you want SLI you should go with an intel cpu and mobo. I have a GIGABYTE GA-890GPA-UD3H. AMD mobo dont support triple channel memory, only dual channel. If you want triple channel you need to go with intel mobo.

I do read and understand what I read. I would think someone in the computer science field would read better than a IT teach but hey I am wrong sometimes.
