Yup, like the title implies - the 2233RZ has been discontinued for some reason. At least that's what my online distributor tells me. Similar searches turn up the same results - product not available, etc.
So I guess that means those of us who already own one or two of these are sol if we want 3d surround. That or we would have to turn around and purchase three NEW Acers or other 120hz monitor. Nice. Because as I understand it, the three monitors have to be the same make and model to work right?
Someone please tell me I'm wrong. If this is true, it's very very dissapointing. I have spent a small fortune on this stuff so far. To have to spend even more now would really .... be frustrating to say the least.
Still waiting on that opengl support too. Not for professional apps - for games. Like was originally announced when the product was initially released.

I wonder if the viewsonic is also discontinued....
Im also resonably suprised as most retailers have the samsung as part of a bundle, the only bundle i have ever seen as well as there are no acer, alienware viewsonic bundles.... that ive seen anyway, /turned.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':turned:' />

I think the viewsonic is still available - but I'm loathe to sell off my samsung at a loss, and then have to turn around and pay full retail for a competator's product (times three) to get surround.
And we still have yet to get the surround drivers. My 470's should be here tomorrow or the next day. I know from reading other threads here that the surround drivers are a few weeks away yet. I just don't understand why now the 2233rz's would be so hard to get. I was able to find one more while I was between posts. But seriously - it's like 600 bucks for two more 2233's as opposed to over twelve hundred for the acers (before shippig and taxes of course). Add in the costs of two 470's at 370 a crack...
Look, I knew I"d be paying a premium for this feature - but suddenly discontinuing a product (you know, the one most of us have right now who use 3d vision) right at the time surround is about to become available is a little wrong imho.
I guess I have to contact Samsung to get a reason.

Well I just checked amazon.de over here in Germany as well as many of the big etailers, and they all have em in stock with no end in sight. Dunno what's going on at your end really... /shock.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
EDIT: Same goes for amazon.co.uk, amazon.at and amazon.fr

Thank god... I feel stupid enough for buying one. The ghosting is a joke. I mean it's ok? But given the choice, I would have waited the 2 weeks. I didn't realize the newer ones would be coming out.

I think that samsung probably are well aware its a joke, and this is probably their first step to stop people laughing...
Do the newer displays show less ghosting? I thought this was a limitation of TN panels in general.
I belive they do, mainly because they have a better overdrive function but yes ghosting is still apprent in high contrast scenes on the acer and alienware.
Will be intresting to see how much better or worse? the lg and asus are. From what ive seen so far they have faster components with higher bandwidths... wether this matters tho lol

I'm fine with my 2233. I can usually adjust the contrast or brightness in game to minimize ghosting. Also using less depth more convergence helps too depending on the game. I'm also replacing my living room tv with one of those mitsubishi dlp's. I read that they have no ghosting whatsoever. So I'll probly hook the pc up to that for a bit. But really, I've never had much of a ghosting issue. maybe i'm just tolerant. Nothing is perfect.

Well, Samsung sent me a message which was pretty much an automated reply referring me to a reseller with the item out of stock. - Thanks Samsung!
An online search has netted me zero results for anyone with any in stock in North America (at least so far). I have found one reseller in Southern Ontario that sells them and has a few in stock - HOWEVER they don't process orders over the phone and thier website cannot process orders for in stock only items. Yee fricken ha. I'm only 18 hours away from the nearest retail location, so getting there might be a bit of an issue.
If anyone sees an online retailer with these IN STOCK, preferably in North America, please let me know via pm.

Some games just have ghosting cause they arent made for 3d , so in cases i believe its not always a monitor issue although there is definite extra ghosting from TN panels.

Doesn't surprise me. Samsung would rather you buy three new panels (they do manufacture the bulk of the world's panels after all) than two. They probably predicted lots of 2233rz owners would try to take the economical approach and just buy two more..........screw you, Samsung.

This is getting rediculous.
