3D Vision for Laptop Infrared emitter replacement
So I needed to get my XPS 17 3D screen chassis fixed. Problem is, damn technician broke the emitter and has no clue to how to make it work again. I wanted to know if anybody could tell me where to get a replacement for it: My computer's warranty has expired. Thanks !

Yes, you'd need to look at the secondary market, as it's not sold separately.

Bought the emitter off ebay... Strange stuff: The emitter at first wouldn't work, then after reinstalling the driver and plugging it in, it would only work for 10 seconds max before it reverts to 3D Discover. If I unplug it and plug it back again, it works, until the device unplugs itself again (it disappears from device manager). At the end, the circuit got so hot it fried... Completely confused, and suspecting the problem might be the cable, I just ordered another emitter with the cable supplied. Does anybody know what could be the cause of this, and if the L702x' cable is easily replacable or bundled in the display cable ? Thanks !

Were you using a USB hub? Several people have reported difficulty running the emitter over a hub (though not to the extent where it fried)

No, I didn't know a standard USB Hub (the one used with 3D Vision for desktops) could even be used with a laptop.. I guess it fried because of me hotplugging it repeatedly trying to know what causes it to shut down after a few seconds, but I might be wrong.
