Official 337.50 Beta Driver Feedback Thread
I find it funny... People kept on ranting about no 3D Vision support from nvidia...now they gave support...and now people come bashing again that IT'S NOT exactly HOW THEY WANT IT....PFFFFFF I also find the compatibility version poorer than the actual quad-buffering technique (the proper 3D Vision) but I would rather play a game in Compatibility 3D rather than plain 2D. Again if you don't like it don't use it... Like someone said it...it is illegal to "sell shader code" of a proprietary software. So nvidia cannot DO what Helixmod does (basically PARTICULAR shader modification and put those shaders in the driver). 3D Vision Automatic is all based around SHADER MODIFICATION during creation/usage time but in a generalistic WAY! That's why 3D Vision Automatic works better on some games and worst on other. It's FUNNY how people are actually bashing nvidia for the CRAP that developer wrote in their shaders:))) Also, Steve said this 3D Compatibility mode is NOT targeted at hardcore users or the ones that frequently are on these forums and make fixes but rather the bigger audience (which probably don't even have a forums account) Anyway, I just wanted to voice this thing out... PS: and before I get a "fanboy" comment or something.... I can say one thing. To some I might be a fanboy to other everything that I said makes perfect sense and can be proven. NOT Giving credit to the people that created something IF it's not according to your DESIRES is baaad....:)
You make it sound like they gave us something, which they didn't. To me this 3D compatibility mode is not 3D at all. So, I'm still waiting for some kind of 3D solution from Nvidia. If we accept this crap and thank Nvidia then why should they bother to give us real 3D support. We have to let them know that this solution sucks, and shouldn't even be called 3D. Maybe call it 2D reprojection mode that looks like a bunch of 2D layers with Halos around everything. Also, I believe this is causing more harm then good. Imagine you were not familiar with a real 3D vision game, you just went out and bought a brand new high end video card and new monitor only to get home and play something like Bioshock infinite with the Nvidia solution. You then go online and bitch about how crappy 3D gaming is, and what a GIMMICK it is without ever having even tried it with the Helix fix. BTW, I also have Tridef. Why is Tridef SO MUCH BETTER and offers REAL 3D? If it was illegal to mess with shader code then how is Tridef in business? They are then obviously doing very many illegal things as they fix many broken effects. Thier Bioshock Infinite profile makes the game look great in 3D (not as good as Helix fix) but 10x better then Nvidia FAKE 3D. So, why don't I fuck off and leave Nvidia behind completely? Because of the community here. Great people who can fix many games. Helifax your awesome with your surround fixs, and opengl wrapper. I don't wanna be enemies, but I think we greatly differ on our stance with Nvidias solution. I'd rather Nvidia not even bother coming here and posting if all we are gonna get is fake 3D news and just let the community do what they do. Don't come on here and get our hopes up with 3D news, only to come and throw this crap in our face. I think everyone should voice there displeasure and maybe we will someday get some real 3D news. Like I was saying, why not HELP developers implement 3D Vision? They help them with adding Physx, TXAA, and other proprietary Nvidia tech. They can also help developers add 3D to their game engines. It seems to me like they just don't care. Look at the Batman games. Nvidia helped Rocksteady develop a nice 3D engine for the first game and now we have 3 EXCELLENT looking batman 3D games. Sure, Nvidia can't force or help every developer implement 3D, or fix EVERY game. BUT, give me a break, if you sponsor a game, then I think you should make 3D vision support mandatory as it's a feature you advertise. Again, an NVIDIA SPONSORED GAME SHOULD HAVE 3D VISION SUPPORT. Non Nvidia games it would be very nice of Nvidia to fix.

Is Bioshock infinate one of the compatibilty 3D supported games? I have helix mod installed as well as this driver. I fired it up and everything looks same as I remember. Hitting ctl-alt-f11 has absolutely no effect. If I remove helix mod and fire up the game, it looks very broken (heavy ghosting, broken shadows) and hitting ctl-alt-f11 makes no difference. I checked system settings and 337.5 is definately installed. I was under the impression bioshock infinate was one of the games we can compare to see the difference between helix mod and new nvidia 3D compatibility mode. Am I missing something? I can change depth and convergence no problems so my advanced key settings are enabled.

Well, I'm at a loss. Changed far cry 3 to dx11. Fired it up. Shadows very broken, hit ctl-alt-f11, nothing changes. Reset profile or fc3 via nvinspector to default, retried, same result. Checked driver installed and everything states 337.50. Its as if ctl-alt-f11 and 3D compatibility mode aren't working at all. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Going forward SteveK you should save yourself the trouble and not bother with compatibility mode. Spend the time and the money elsewhere. Nvidia is going to lose a lot of loyal customers if they keep this up. For 2 years we hear nothing from moderators. Then SteveK comes on here talking about great 3D news mid-January announcement. Here I thought finally some hope for all this gear I spent so much money on. Maybe DX11 fixes, 1440 3D, something exciting then we get this shit LOLOLOLOLOL Fake 3D. VR is around the corner fellas, once that is here I have nothing keeping me with Nvidia anymore. Another loyal customer GONE. Stevie K - don't forget to tell the boys at work Fake 3D is garbage pal. Pure worthless pile of garbage.

Uh, back on topic: Install was pretty different from prior installs, forced a reboot before and after install. Unusual, but did not show any errors. 3D test works fine. Setup wizard works fine. Beta driver has broken 3D Vision. I tried two old games, both are unplayable. Quantum Conundrum: 3D vision no longer engages at all, only 2D. Switching to Discover mode, still 2D. SLI is enabled, and both GPUs show activity. Helix mod installed. Assassin's Creed 1: Right, first. 3D Vision activates but is unplayably stuttery, like loading stutters. SLI is active and GPUs both show activity. No Helix mod, normal profile. If I switch to Discover, it works fine and is back to smooth play.

BTW: The thing you just did is called "attempt to blackmail" or the likes... I bet the people at Nvidia really "care" that you want to do whatever you want to do ^_^ (Newsflash!!! They don't ! It's you who will have a hard time...but as you wish) Anyway back on-topic... @bo3b I fired up AC1 and I haven't noticed any problems... Have you tried using DDUto remove the previous driver? I had some problems as well with the "normal" install from the previous WHQL driver... But using it to completely remove the previous driver made the new driver work correctly. (Then again I am using the GTX700 series so maybe it behaves differently on GTX 500 series? )

Ok, reinstalled driver, ticked "clean" this time and I can now see the 3D compatibility mode in effect.

NVidia came out of the gates investing a lot of money & marketing into 3d vision. As we know it is the best 3d gaming option available. Guess What??? It didn't take off. Too many kiddies or people who don't want to invest big money into a system that can handle it. Too many people who heard "3d is a gimmick" & they had made their mind up about it before even giving it a try. NVidia kept featuring it on some new games like Just Cause 2 etc. Since they are not a non profit organization they are trying to succeed in the business world. They have stockholders. I am guessing financially it didn't pay off. In case no one noticed 3d HAS been dead for a couple years. Without guys like helix, eqzitara, helifax etc. we wouldn't have enjoyed 3d gaming for the last 3 years. NVidia didn't put any more money into it because it is very niche. Now with VR & 4k gaming coming into the mix who knows what's going to happen. I for one appreciate SteveK coming on here & at least showing us they care a little. Real 3d Vision (NVidia created it BTW) is better than the compatibility mode we are now getting for new releases & everyone knows that. But I would rather game in 3d with depth & convergence at 0 than to game in 2d. One year ago 3d Vision & Open GL were a dream. Now dreams have become reality because of the hard work of Helifax. I have faith that the community will keep 3d alive.
Why no 3D vision Surround support!? I spent all this money on Nvidia hardware and 3D vision surround at this time is not supported?
