Creating game walkthroughs for Sony VR headset owners - what settings?
Do 3D Vision youtube videos play just fine in software for VR headsets? If not, do you guys have any idea if one can make 3D game walkthroughs for VR headset users? What settings should i use to ensure that the end result is a "depth" value that gives a 5.7" IPD, with an over-all realistic world size. Any math genius's that can figure that out (Flugan?)? I don't have any VR stuff yet unfortunately to test this out, but i'd like to possibly make some good basic single player game walkthroughs for Sony and in the future, Xbox VR owners to help generate some more content.

I don't think Youtube has actual 3D support anymore. Only anaglyph.

Did youtube switch over to html player totally now? I don't think html player has 3D, but i thought youtube still used Flash player mainly. Maybe neither do now?

What about presenting it in side-by-side configuration? How does that look on VR headsets?

Yeah, Google ruined the 3D on YouTube. It's completely broken now. Or to be more exact, they switched it all to HTML5, and did not update any of the 3D handling. Like I always say- it's all about maintenance. Making some shiny new thing is all well and good, but then what? Pretty much everything is HTML5 now, the Flash player is deprecated and used only rarely now. Even if you find a video that was old and uploaded in 3D, it will only allow anaglyph playback, or 2D. Yeah, nice. If you are making your own videos, best bet is to make a SBS video, and upload it as if it was 2D. That will then show on YouTube as SBS with no way to see it in 2D, but at least people with real 3D hardware can typically see SBS video. If you set the 3D flag in the upload page, it will be marked 3D by YouTube with the little tag- but then you can only view it in anaglyph.

Yeah, my Mass Effect scenery-in-3D video only plays in 2D now. I can't even set it to 2D and have it play in its original SBS format, as if they cut out half of it behind the scenes without even asking or notifying me. Great timing by youtube to take 3D off btw, just in time for VR to hit the scene......... Although i can never get anyone to comment on how 3D youtube videos look in VR headsets, so maybe they don't work anyway. I heard Sony uses a different type of lens arrangement, maybe it different than Oculus.
