I think it's only a matter of time it's just that the hardware needs to be more widespread. If Sony comes through with 3D for the PS3, that will make a big impact.

As 3d'll be considered high end kit i'd be suprised if the did it with many DVDs when it hits. In the UK Sky are planning to launch a 3d channel next year, I beleive the plan is to broadcast the big value FIFA world cup matches in 3d (so anything Involving England, if no england match that which looks to be the biggest interest in the UK). What they do when the WC is not on is anyones guess, a mix of tech demos, other sports events and 3d movies i'd guess.

The fact that both HD consoles are looking at 3d output, and a major broadcaster in the UK is means that things may be looking up. I have heard rumours of bluray but seen nothing as concrete.
