3D Vision Wizard zapped my Projector??
Hey Everybody, I had some good news today I received my 3rd and final Projector for my 3D Setup.. Well I spent a few hours getting 2D Surround working. I finally got that working and went to run the nVidia 3D wizaard and it went into 1920x1080 resolution and my Screen went Green.. I ended up plugging in a older DVI Monitor I have and the resolution was at 1920 x 1080 funny the Projector can ONLY do 1280x720.. Well I reset the Resolution and plugged in the Projector and it was just a bunch of Green and orange bars horisontally.. I am unsure but I think it fried it somehow I tried resetting it and turning it off but no luck. I think it went poof and I am now in the market for Monitors as for some wierd reason nVidia wants to default to some wierd high resolutions that my Projectors dont support.. I had a heck of a time getting surround working. when I enabled surround the resolution was at 1600x1200 for the single monitor luckily I was able to get into Resolution and chnge it and it worked but when I went in to the 3D Wizard it must have zapped something.. I am unsure what to do but I think I am done with buying Projectors till they come out with a higher res and in 3D..
Hey Everybody,

I had some good news today I received my 3rd and final Projector for my 3D Setup.. Well I spent a few hours getting 2D Surround working. I finally got that working and went to run the nVidia 3D wizaard and it went into 1920x1080 resolution and my Screen went Green..

Your projector might have been zapped, but that would be pretty bad luck. These projectors can take a 1920x1080 signal, and not blow up. I have a now ancient H5360, and periodically stuff tries to display wrong. If it is super far off, the projector typically will go to a black mode and say something like "invalid signal input". The fact that the wizard tried to change to the wrong resolution suggests that your projector is not identified properly to the OS. If it has a proper EDID, it should show up properly named in the control panel, and it would know not to send that high a signal. What model are we talking about here? Try hooking that projector up by itself, or better, hook it directly and solely to something known good like a DVD player. That will let you know whether it is indeed blown up or something else is going on.

well when it cant display a 1920 x 1080 it may not blow up which it did not but the screen goes green and you are able to do anything but do a hard reset.. I have an Acer x1261P and the highest signal it can take is 1600x1200 anything higher then that and it goes to a green screen.. I just thought with my initial thought the projector went poof like the old CRT Monitors could do if sent too high a signal but it was just a setting in the Projector I had to turn off it was set on 3D Vidion and that was making the screen all fuzzy and green.. I am trying to determine how to make the drivers select my NATIVE res which is 1024 x 768 for anything I do but it seems to want to pick these higher resolutions for some weird reason..

OK, I see. Looks like that projector only supports VGA connection, and because of that max screen is 1600x1200. It is/was directly supported by 3D Vision. So, this should just work. And generally it does, but something is off. In other words, no need to EDID override, that sort of stuff. Make sure your VGA cable is high quality and short, at least for setup. I used VGA on my Acer H5360 for awhile, and it would periodically lose its mind and forget that it was H5360. Plugging and unplugging VGA would make it come back. If the NVidia driver cannot read the EDID properly, and you get some default in the monitors setup, it will make mistakes like using the wrong resolution. Go into NVidia Control Panel, Change Resolution. That will show an icon of the projector, and what it thinks it is. If it's anything other than Acer X1261P, you have an EDID problem. Let me know what you see and we can figure it out.
