I've been waiting in the US for a couple months and see I can get the 5360 here now, but what's this PJD6531w that just came out with 720p/1080i/p. and 3000 lumens? I don't see it listed on the compatibility list. Anyone try this one?

Hey, I recently bought the Viewsonic.
Let me say the 3d would only work at 1024 x 768 @120hz , and not a 1280x800 because the projector can only do 60hz at 1280x800.
NVIDIA should understand that 3d on a dlp projector is still ok for 75% of the people at 60hz so may we please use our '3d ready' projectors at this frequency?
Nevertheless, the latest driver fails to work on this projector due to the driver forcing the 1280x800 rez @60hz
Viewsonic - You need to put a fire up NVidias ass to get this projector supported. Otherwise its false advertising.
NVidia - Why does the driver automatically switch resolution to an unsupported 3d frequency? Is it just because the resolution is tagged 'native' in the monitor driver?
Ive tried 2 different computers, but the issue is the same.
The projector does have a 3d-vision setting, but the driver doesnt seem to know to choose the 1024x768 @120hz resolution. It forces the 1280x800 @60hz resolution and therefore reports 3d ready display NOT DETECTED.

I also got ViewSonic PJD6531W projector, I’m very happy with its performance, amazing display quality, brightness, color, native resolution is also very satisfactory (1280x800) and (1280x720 -120Hz) for 3D. But, they same as you, I cannot get 3D with Nvida latest driver to work, during display test projector is switched to it’s native resolution which supports only 60Hz. I guess NVIDIA is still playing THE GOD in deciding which projector can be used with their proprietary “little pyramidâ€. I’ll hope they will soon shoot themselves in a foot, and learn this hard way… when rules of free market will decide who will be the winner in 3D technology…
I found this 3D Nvidia “ game†even more irritating when I installed old 3D driver (from 08/09) and found that it works with the projector even if did not pass stupid test they force you to pass in order to get more money for 3D displays certification, this is only explanation I can see for the crap they are doing! Anyway, the old driver has an option to select “generic CRT†even if did not pass the compatibility test, unfortunately this feature is gone in all new drivers, not sure from when and WHYYYY?
You can install old drivers and select generic CRT, PJD6531W does works with this setup. Obviously, you will lose all new feature they have added in new drivers, especially real time 3D with CyberLink Power DVD10 player, which works only with new drivers, also bunch of new games does not work with old drivers.
The statement they’ve made about backward compatibility for drivers is a BIG lie, its all about Nvida’s dictatorship!!!
The good thing about projector is that is support 3D - DLP-link, so for watching the movies you don't need to relay on Nvida monopoly, if you purchase proper glasses.

I would say go for the H5360, I have one and 2 of my friends each have one as well. They are awesome little machines and drivers seem to be a none issue. The latest drivers install just fine. I believe Nvidia and Acer keep a tight bond on this projector as far as support. They use this model at trade shows to show off 3D Vision so that should say something in itself. It supports 3D Vision as well as DLP 3D (XpanD) i do believe.
It runs fine in 720P 120hz, we're blasting about 106" from roughly 12.5 feet with a 20ft shielded HDMI, Screen Goo high contrast digital grey screen/no 3D Sync cable
The only problem sometimes is the sync will fall out for a couple seconds (rarely) on certain videos which creates ghosting but nothing that is a show stopper or big hinderance.
Detection has always worked fine even after upgrading without using drivercleaner
All machines used have been Windows 7 x64
Wonderful projector, expecially for the price. Blu-Rays look wonderful on this thing! 3D Blu-Rays will look even better!
PowerlinkDVD10 works just fine, the 2D - 3D conversion like most say looks cool yet strange. I keep the depth around 10% and this makes it possible to watch a whole movie. Anything more and its a bit disorienting. With many movies it is more enjoyable in 3D, others not so much.

I have not tested a viewsonic myself[/quote]
Sounds good. Can you tell me whether the Acer projector loses lumens when you switch it to the 100hz mode? The Viewsonic loses 1/2 its lumens at this refresh rate, which, when coupled with 3d glasses halves again - even though 3d doesnt work with NVidia yet.

Should search on the HD66 in these forum and get your setup exactly the same, I'm unsure about the custom monitor.inf step however.
Basic steps are
- Use DVI to VGA adaptor or single cord, snap of the 2 pins on the DVI side to disable EDID (Yep I hate you EDID grrrr) or VGA end to end you only have to remove 1pin I think.
- Add a custom resolution in the Nvidia control panel for 1280x720P @120hz, I do 1280x768@120hz but you'd have to check whether your projector will allow it.
- User Generic CRT option for the display type in the drop down menu
- Wear glasses upside down and enjoy your big screen 3D experience

I use a H5360 with the glasses and it truly was plug and play. No issues whatsoever.
It appeared to lose lumens at first, but then I noticed that the degamma values in the menu were different in the 60 and 120 hz modes. You do lose some, also due to the glasses, but I'd put it in the 25% range. I can comfortably play in 3D with eco mode on.

Trying to decide between H5360 and this projector, as this is probably the only choices I will have when I need to purchase. I am confused about the issue with 120hz, the spec sheet says it does 1280x72 at 120hz, is this just a driver problem? Has anybody tried this projector with the new drivers that just came out? I think this the first set of drivers where this projector is officially supported?

DLP link is another classroom / business feature, cause it totally kills off black color, DLP becomes worse than TN LCD.
