What glasses should I get. I'm very new to how the 3d picture world
I just bought a 3d laptop from staples.com and it comes next week and after 4 chat sessions from 4 different chat help people on dell and staples, no one knows where the hell to get glasses or what kind of glasses I should get or what will work with the laptop. All I know is that the laptop does not come with the 3d glasses. NVIDIA GeForce GT 555M 3GB graphics with Optimus is the graphics card that is on the laptop. It does have a build in ir emitter. http://www.thefind.com/computers/browse-dell-centrino-laptop there is the site with the description if any other info is needed. I feel like I know more about it than the normal person but after talking to the reps who knew nothing, I feel as if I lost all the knowledge I once thought I knew. any help would be appreciated.
Thnx,
MD

The laptop was purchased from staples online and while in convo with them I asked if the glasses came with it and they said no. Finding the same laptop on best buy's site shows again that it does not come with the glasses. dell xps 17L-2777els is the laptop I purchased. It is not on the website anymore. I think they ran out. Does anyone know if the NVIDIA 3D Vision 2 glasses will work on my computer or the regular 3D Vision glasses will work? Those are cheaper than the universal 3D glasses that dell has for sale on thier site.

If there are any glasses on the planet that will work with your laptop, the Nvidia 3D Vision glasses (either 1 or 2) are your best bet. I say bet, because as eqzitara said there's no guarantee your laptop comes configured with the requisite hardware (optional 3D screen) to support 3D Vision. Maybe if you have a service tag # or something on the bottom of your Dell you can look that up online to specifically see what part # you have for the screen and then see if you can confirm if that's the 3D screen.

Either way, I would hold off on buying the glasses until you've confirmed you have the optional 3D screen. You'll be able to tell straight away if you're able to set the refresh rate to 120Hz.

On the description, it states its a 3d screen with a 120 refresh rate. Should I still wait till the computer comes before I figure out what glasses I need?

The Nvidia 3D Vision Glasses (either v1 or v2) are what you need for sure with that laptop. If you buy them just don't open them until you confirm you have the 3D screen that supports 120Hz so if you need to return the glasses, you don't get hit with restock or anything if you need to return them.
