Path Of Exile Lead Developers response regarding 3dvision.
So I sent this today to the POE head.
Hi Chris.
I know you are a busy man and receive a stupid amount of email so I will keep this brief and hope you see it, and have time to answer my questions about this.
I have been playing POE since closed beta, many years now and consider it to be the greatest ARPG of all time. Every expansion I worry this feature is going to break, but I've been happily surprised each and every time.
It has near perfect 3dvision support. Which brings the game to a whole new level. I figure it surely can't be this good unless your development team keeps it in mind. The camera perspective especially while I feel is a little awkward in 2D is absolutely perfect in 3d, The graphics have depth and have great pop out giving the feeling of looking down into a real world of Little miniatures. (when correct convergence settings are used.)
* Is this this intentional or a happy fluke?
* Do any of your team play in 3dvision, Do you even realize how awesome it is in your game? is it considered in development.?
* Only issue is the HUD and cursor is screen depth. Would there be a problem if we developed a client side patch for this using Helix mod? (Client side visual only.) Hopefully this wont risk banning as it doesn't not effect game play.
details here.

To my Surprise I got a response.
"Thanks very much! We did find out that it worked well a few years ago (happy accident due to coding it properly), but haven't maintained it or tried it since.
I don't know anything about the Helix mod stuff but generally third-party programs that touch the client aren't allowed.
Chris."
I find it interesting he says about it being a happy accident to to proper coding. At least hes calling it like it is.
Does this mean other developers simply take shortcuts?
