I did bought an 8800 GTX OC and after that findout it doesnt work in 3D stereo. So I put back my 7950GX2 on the PC and the 8800 GTX in the refrigerator.

Due to taxes, in my country, it coasts like 1700-1800 us dolars.

Hard to tell my feelings this moment...

Give the 8800 some 3d stereo love nVidia!!

I'm still holding off one or two 8800 Ultra's becuase of the lack of proper stereo support.

I was planning on buying an 8800GT but instead I bought a 21'' Trinitron monitor as I'm also waiting for new drivers.

EDIT: It looks like there are NVIDIA beta Stereo drivers for Geforce 8 series available (162.50), check it out:

Hi folks, this is my first post. I actually got register only to cast my vote here.

I am also going to order a 8800 Card the moment new (working ... not the 162.50s) driver are released! Hopefully this month!
(I have already pick out the model and the place I want to purchase it from)

Greetings and FYI: in germany we have a saying: hope is the last thing to die!

So dont give up :)

Mr. HugoHugo

P.S: Has anyone seen Mrs.HugoHugo somewhere?

g'day there,

Yea, ive been researching HEAPS being blown away after watching 'Beowulf' with the REAL D glasses.

Looks like lots of the new movies are being made especially for 3D viewing, such a good market i think, truly thrilling ride.
I am also in the Visual Effects Industry and really can appreciate the whole new experience gained from the 3D stereo setups.

So put my name down for sure,
Ill also wait for the newer supported 3D cards.
So on ya horse Nvidia, wat u waiting for....? :P

cheers,

Shono

I bought one 1.5 weeks after it came out. I was promised by an nVidia senior tech support that I would be using a stereo 3d driver by Spring of 2007. I even went out and bought some shutter glasses for the occasion. It never came.

I am just one of many disgruntled nvidia customers who are waiting for a driver that will be OS restrictive when it comes out.

Like now, I am running Vista because it is more quad core friendly and less prone to problems like in XP. I won't go back.

2x Cooler Master 6 HDD coolers (primary usage drives)
2x PSU's (primary 600W psu, secondary 350W psu modded solely to power the ATi card)

I am planning to build a htpc and support for stereo3d, especially for dlp rear projection TVs, is a deciding factor between getting a 8800 card or an ati card.

Nitro, since you have the 8800 GTS the 162.5 beta stereo drivers will work for you., if you dont mind using slightly out of date drivers. ....They just don't work on the 8800 GT

One issue with that, I have Vista now. Vista runs my ram and quad core much better than XP will ever! I'm kind of toast right now.

I would like support for Vista tho...

I will buy 6 video cards of the most expensive model
if it will be "Direct X 10 + 3D Stereo" working
Then I say "Nvidia, Make the Stereo Drivers or Open the sources"

And then I will make the stereo work in DX10!!!

I didn't realize the 8800gt didn't work with the 162.5 stereo drivers or I would have just got the gts instead. hmm but I bet I can sell my GT on ebay since there's such a shortage now ...

I’m sorry, I have to retract my pledge to buy until a time when drivers are out that allow for post processing or allow us to turn off post processing as a large number of modern games use post processing that cant be turned off so even with new drivers, I wont be able to play these modern games that would have been my motivation to buy a new GPU in the first place.

Run on sentences are cool..
