If you are running 3D Vision, the frame rate is capped at 60fps because it turns on vSync. It needs it on to be able to synchronize the glasses. Monitor/projector is running at 120Hz, half that is 60Hz. It doesn't matter if you have vSync off in game, or off in NVidia settings. If you use 3D Vision vSync is on.

I don't think vsync is on with 3D Vision. I see tearing here and there and a see a reduction in input lag when i turn it off, which i always do.

Only a few games in 2012 truly pushed 680s sli potential . Left for dead:2 suffers from stuttering issues if I use to much eye candy in 3D .

Vsync isn't forced on, try playing Oblivion, plenty of tearing :) The percieveable framerate whilst using 3D is limited to 60FPS, because it has to show the alternating frames to each eye.

So far my favorite game in 3D goes to ' Dead Space:2' . Thinking about trying Mass effect:2 in 3D

Those benchmarks were comparison of 1080p NO AA with 720p 4XAA It was a more showing expected FPS for projector users.

Vsync used to always be forced on when 3d vision was enabled. That's why physically disabling 3d vision in the Nvidia control panel used to boost performance in 2d. I think since the R300 drivers that is no longer the case though, hence you can have vsync off while 3d vision is on.
