Ghosting Comparison? How about we all take part to make a good monitor comparison?
Hey,
I was thinking... What is a better way to see which monitors ghost more, and with which settings, than to see some pictures of all the different monitors.
I was in Geoforms (a 3D screensaver that looks incredible in 3D, google it, download it...), and was messing with some settings.
I turned Wireframe on, which made a white wireframe with a black background, which caused a lot of ghosting...
I thought "I wonder what this would look like on a different monitor (I use an ACER CRT monitor at 1024x768@85Hz for 3D).
I then decided to freeze the image, and get a 3D picture (jps) of what I was seeing. This means I can give anyone the file, it is exactly the same on all displays, and then ghosting can be accurately compared.
Attached is the JPS file of the 3D image, as well as four photos I took off my phone through the lenses of the 3D glasses. The 1st two are a full screen shot of my monitor (one through each lens), the other two are closer shots of a single area that was causing the most ghosting (you'll see what I mean...)
If any of you guys has a free 5 minutes i think it would be great for everyone to open up this file and take some pictures (PREFERABLY THE SAME 4 PICTURES AS I DID TO MAKE IT EASY TO COMPARE) so we can see which monitor looks the best in this scenario.
Someone else might find a different 3D image with ghosting that they would like to compare with other monitors, and I would suggest uploading the picture, along with your own photos of the ghosting onto this thread.
Don't forget to include your computer specs (monitor in particular)!
