Eyes switching in Stero mode

I just picked up an Acer 3d Vision monitor and the glasses kit, and I'm having a major problem...any time I run something in stereo 3D mode, the images from my right eye eventually end up displayed in my left eye, and vice versa. It will drift from "in focus" with minimal/no ghosting, to gradually having the images separate horizontally and then after about 30 seconds, the images "snaps back" into perfect 3D. This cycle repeats every 30 seconds or so.

For example, in the nVidia calibration tool, when you get to the part with the blue triangle and the green hexagon, if you close one eye, it will slowly transition from the hexagon to the triangle, and then after the hexagon has completely faded out, it "snaps back" to the hexagon with no triangle.

Like I said, it does this in all modes...when you run the demo picture slideshow, it does the same thing. Games too.

I don't think it's an issue with the glasses or the monitor, because if I take the glasses off, I can see the image slowly drift, and then jump back to where it starts.

Anyone run across this problem, and how do you fix it?

I have run into the inverted stereo and the way I fix it is to change the "swap eyes" option in the manage 3D settings of the NVIDIA control panel to off if it is on, or on if it is on...

Sounds like the glasses are not refreshing at the same speed as the screen, for example the screen is going 120hz but the glasses are only doing 110hz. This could explain the migration and cycles you're seeing.

Edit: possible 'nevermind', I somehow missed your comment about seeing it drift without the glasses on.

i have noticed this recently too. It was never an issue with vista32 but migrating to first win7 32 it was ever so slight and then again going to win7 64 it was even more pronounced but it faded back to what is was suppose to show and has not done it again. It only happened during the setup but not while gaming or viewing.

Thew glasses drifting was the first thing I thought...but if that was it it would smothly go from out, to in, and back again. It wouldn't "snap" back. As soon as it complete the switch from one eye to the other, it instantly switches eyes.

Could it possibly be an issue with the DVI cable? I have noticed whenever you jostle the Dual Link DVI cable, it resets the monitor as if it isn't getting a signal. Could an issue/short in the Dual Link cause it to display improperly?

Also, when I bought the computer from IBuyPower, they put a couple of piece of crap Sparkle brand GTS250 cards in there...could the display issue be caused by crappy POS cards?

OK Guys...here's a couple of videos I shot of the problem...one through the glasses, and one not through the glasses.

The first one is through the glasses, and you can see the image shift at about two seconds into the clip, and then it will slowly fade from one eye image to the other, and then at about 41 seconds it will "reset" and start over again.

I would tend to agree with the earlier posts, the glasses are at a slightly different refresh rate than the display.
That implies either an issue with the transmitter, or the USB port it's attached to or possibly the glasses themselves.

Although the pop in the second video implies it's display related.

If you think it may be the cards and you're running SLI, you can try disabling SLI and/or yanking one of the cards and try them each individually. If it is an actual hardware problem it's highly unlikely to affect both cards, but that being said if it were a hardware problem you'd probably be seeing bigger issues...

I've disabled SLI and get the same thing. I've also gone into the properties menu for each card and disabled each of them (although didn't physically remove them) and still have the same issue.

Are you overclocked? Try reverting to stock speeds on everything (vid, cpu, mobo). If it's between the cards and the monitor, my bet would be the monitor.

No overclocking. I already have an RMA for the monitor, I was just hoping to see if anyone could say if they have had a similar problem.

I would try uninstalling and updating to the newest drivers available for your video card, and then upgrading to newer drivers for 3D vision.
