Hi
I'm about to set off another playthrough of this great game (this time modded) - one of greatest ever IMO
I found that the Inversion profile fixes many of the 3D issues - only remaining the backdrop Buildings in 2D is in wrong depht AND if I get down under Water it breaks the otherwise perfect Water surface....
May I ask politely - why haven't any of the very talented community members tried to fix these rather small issues ?

The water problem in 3D for Half Life 2 has been a problem for shader fixers and it appears there isn't a fix for this. You can find information regarding that in this thread.

Half Life 2 has been looked at and the water as far as I know has not been fixed. Bo3d has made some great tutorials for learning how to contribute and fix games. You could certainly try ;-)

the water glitch doesn't look like a standard shader issue to me, more like something to do with the game engine, that we'd actually need the source code to be able to fix, could be wrong though. nobody really knows what's up with that, no similar glitches exist that I know of

Weird glitch indeed...
But I can live with it :D I was just wondering why it wasn't fixed yet...
The Inversion profile and Nvidia lasersight makes it a great game in 3D.
Stryker_66: Some day I will pull off my first fix - but it's not likely to be this one -
It would be an honor to contribute to this great community :)

As others said the water issue is not a shader problem. It is a game engine/driver issue that plagues most Valve games, and the solution is *usually* to just Alt-Tab out of the game and back in again, which resets the driver. Some effort was put into a HL2 fix a couple of years ago (by mana84 I think) and there is a beta fix knocking about "somewhere".

Thanks mike_ar69
I have searched the forum and googled for HL2 fix but no luck so far.
Does anybody know where the beta fix is ¨knocking about¨ ?

I haven't had a look at this game in 3D yet, and I'm not fully following the description of the broken water - can someone post a screenshot so I can see what you are talking about?

I remember that problem with entering the water. I can't remember exactly what i did, but i got it down to one setting that i reset to get the water to display properly again. However i vaguely remember that it was difficult to manage in levels with lots of water.

There's a new mod for this
After 9 years, Half-Life 2: MMod is available for download, improves graphics, AI, VFX, Sound & more

You think its better than cinematic mod ?
I played with that few months ago.

I wonder If this new mod works with Cinematic Mod. I actually Liked Cinematic Mod a lot minus the Porn all over. But there is a way to remove that. Btw cinematic Mod works really good with 3D vision I think the guy who created was a 3D vision user and fixed most issues for it even the water in the canals. If I recall correctly. I haven't played it in a while, though.
