I'm looking to buy both a projector and a TV capable of running 3D with 3D Vision. I see a couple of challenges though.
For a projector I'm pretty much set on the Acer H5360, which should work great with the 3D Vision glasses.
As for the TV though, I want the LG 60PX950N. If I understand correctly, this TV will only support 3D TV Play, and I need separate LG glasses for it.
Is there any way this TV will support 3D Vision without 3D TV Play (modding some files?), so i can use the nvidia glasses? Or is it a no-go? Or any other combo that works? (Mitsu DLP's out of the question).

The LG will support 3D native resolution at full framerate using LG glasses under 3D Vision (checkerboard). However, an individual tried this and reported he got poor image quality with his LG. There have been no other reports confirming or contradicting his finding. All Samsung people have universally found that Samsung gets superb image quality, so that's the brand I'd go with. In all cases, TV makers glasses must be used because the TV's emitter is used.
I tested the Mits DLP for 6 weeks in several different games using CB. In sharp contrast to the Samsung, the Mits DLP has a distinct 'screendoor' effect in CB so I would rule out Mits. CB apparently doesn't work well with rear projection.

If you are looking for 3d projector to play games on as well(ps3) you can get acer 5360bd comes out this month or get Acer 5360 and vip 3d/optoma xl. You dont need 3d vision for acer 5360 tbh (though i prefer), you can use dlp link glasses and go 3d tv play.
So if you want to scratch getting 3d tv you can go.
Acer 5360 + dlp link glasses + 3d tv play + vip 3d = will cost $800
acer 5360bd + dlp link +3d tv play=(unknown not priced yet prob same)
Personally I have acer 5360 + nvidia 3d vision + vip 3d + dlp link but thats $950.
Im pretty sure nvidia 3d vision can work with some dlp tv's but then you face issue of using 3d vision with non pc electronics(ps3- blu ray.)

Why need 3d tv and projector?
Truth is I really don't need the TV to be 3D, since I'm going to use the projector for movies anyway. But it would be nice if it supported it, so i have the option to use it.
I'm going to buy the TV I mentioned here anyway, since it's a nice priced 60" regardless of the 3D support, so I'll report back how it works with nvidia when I get it :)

One thing to note is you cannot simultaneously use both at the same time in 3D since its likely both have different 3D techniques to get it to the screen.

Id wait man. People often regret buying new hardware for something like 3d vision without reading reviews. Check to see if supported in 3d tv play as well. I've seen tons of people buy something and start a thread and its not supported/runs poorly.

Yeah, I'm not gonna use them simultaneously, and the projector screen pulls down in front of the TV anyway :)

The TV is supported by 3DTV play, so that part is ok. I'll just have to get a lot of different glasses :p
