3D Vision doesnt work with a 3D Projector
Can someone at nvidia please help. I have a 3d vision compatible projector (max resolution 1280*720) and i cannot find a way to set the projector for 3D
and the primary monitor for non-3D. If i enable 3D i get the annoying red 'non stereoscopic display' error.

It's as if the drivers do not like 3D with multiple displays. Both the monitor and the projector are both set at 120hz but i still get the non 3D error in
red text. I am using the 'extended mode' for the displays btw.

Up to now, the only way i can use the 3D projector is to turn the projector on, enable 3D, then go to 'setup multiple displays' in the control panel and
right-click on the projector and set it as the primary display. This in turn effectively swaps the displays around. so anything on the monitor screen is
on the projector and vice versa. This as i say appears to be the only way i can enable 3D on the projector. After i have watched the 3D movie/game i then
have to reverse this process and return it to its original setup. Its annoying and cumbersome and i cant believe such a problem could arise on a so-called
3D vision enables projector (Optima HD67N).

I have even set the resolution on the monitor to match the projector in case its a resolution problem but it didnt make any difference. I'm not sure if
having a full 1080p 3D projector would make a difference? (i.e resolution problem). Has anyone else got a similar setup and if so how have you arranged your
system?

Is there anyway you can investigate this problem please or at least give the drivers the ability to work with multiple displays. It just seems odd why a
projector would be labeled as '3D vision compatibl'e and yet have so many problems trying to get 3D to enable on it without my (above) solution.

You always have to set the screen you use 3d on as the primary monitor, I have to do the same on my projector. This is caused more by how windows works than the nvidia drivers if you ask me.

Yeah, its just like this for whatever reason. 3D must be on primary monitor. But it kind of makes sense, since you can only play a game on the primary monitor too.

I just want to express my sincere thanks for your help. It wasn't obvious to me about the primary issue. It wasn't as straight forward as just switching the projector to primary though, as it involved some other messing about. I did however finally get it the way i originally wanted it.

The thing that kind of spoils it is the fact that the maximum res of the projector is 720 and i have been unable to get the pc monitor to run higher than the projector resolution. You just don't seem to be able to have two displays at different resolutions. Not sure if i'm missing anything? I currently have it setup as 'cloned', so i have two copies of the pc desktop. If i play a 3D movie now, i get the film playing twice, once on the pc in non-3D and again on the projector in 3D mode (great). Although the desktop on the pc is not 1080, it seems that playing games will switch to the higher when needed, then drop back to 720 afterwards. Do you know of a work around for this? or is this just part and parcel of having a projector that only runs at 720?. I imagine that a full 1080p 3D projector would cure this issue.

If you don't know of a workaround then i can live with the desktop as it is i guess.

Again, many thanks for your help. After countless posting on forums, your the very first to not only offer real help, but reply anyway. Wtg :)

Clone mode means the exact display is cloned, so that includes the same resolution. In extended desktop mode you can set different resolutions though, but you won't have the same film on both screens then obviously.

Some of the 720P projectors are able to accept a 1920x1080P input signal, they just down convert it. I have my regular resolution set to that and 3D set at 720P with the "hide 3D stereographic effects when games start" box checked. So I then just have to set the in-game settings to 1920 for 2D or 720 for 3D.

Yes D-Man11, my projector does the same. It down converts to its native 720 resolution. Although i now have it basically sorted out i have a bit of a strange problem. The projector is now my primary as stated before but i'm unsure how to get my monitor running at its higher 1080p resolution. As someone stated above, because i am using clone mode, they now both share the same resolution and i'm not sure if extended mode is the only way to go for this problem. You mentioned that you have it running at 1080p. Are you using extended mode?

If the projector is able to down scale the res from 1080 then why cant the monitor be at 1080p and the projector just reduce from 1080p when needed? Because the projector is the primary, i can change its resolution via the nvidia control panel but the monitor settings for this are ghosted. I have also noticed that playing games on the monitor play in 1080 (while the desktop reverts back to 720 afterwards) but the refresh rate is fixed to 60hz and i am unable to change this. The projector is running at 120hz however. I'm just having a few teething problems trying to get both screens running together with decent enough settings (like resolution). I did try raising the resolution of the monitor via the windows settings but i think it was trying to overide the nvidia settings and made the screen flash.

If you could perhaps share your settings, i could maybe copy yours and see what happens. Many thanks.
