I think that a "playable" title never can be rated with 6 or 7. If I give a 7 is because the 3d support is very good, forgueting about if the game is a good game or not, only refering to 3d support. If I must disable shadows and also I must reduce deph and looking for a rare convergence, definively I will give no more than "3" points. Otherwise we are sending a message like "we can play what you trough to our mouths".
"3d Vision ready" could be reserved (but it is not) to games that no only have ZERO problems, but also cinematics and different zooms cameras and any aspect of the game is really prepared to be seen with 3d glasses... and of course also have attention to the ghosting viewable in some areas when colors are not selected with care.

I have to disagree. Dead Space 2 is unplayable in 3D for me. There are way too many issues to contend with. Placing it 2 points lower than Metro 2033 is being way to nice. I would not even give the game a rating in 3D because playing it in 3D would make the experience worse. I love playing in 3D but when not implemented properly it can take away from the game experience. Best not to play DS2 in 3D in my humble opinion.

I played Dead Space 1 all the way through in 3D and thought it was a great experience, and definitely better than playing in 2D. The issues are there but, I dunno, they just didn't bother me. Probably 90% of the 3D world is still rendered in stereo correctly and I just didn't spend lots of time stood there looking at the broken stuff, cause I was immersed in the game.

I needed to here something positive about the game, thanks.

Wow Unplayable...not for me. You've seen the screen shots right? Maybe setup has something to do with it. I am running at on the Alienware AW2310 at 1920x1080 @60hz.

Hey, thanks for the screenshots !
Not too bad, I thought it would be worse. Can you make some screen with all graphic settings enabled (shadows included) so to see how bad it is then ?

Here is a screen shot with Shadows on so you can see that its best to turn them off. Also posted a couple more shots so people can see how it looks (Shadows off again)

Wow, your last screenshot makes the game look like a world-class 3D ready game! Those light sources look like they are rendering properly to my eyes, but Dead Space 1 had similar moments as well. Fog really caused a huge problem in that game, but I managed to ignore it for the most part.
As I looked more closely at the lights, I did notice they weren't quite right. I think the darkness helps to mask some issues quite a bit. I still demand this game be perfect in 3D - hear that Nvidia! No other game has left me with that creepy feeling of dread like this one. 3D and Dead Space is a marriage made in heaven, if you ask me!

U ppl need to chill lol. They didnt even make a profile for game yet.

Just on this topic, I think people have an exagerated idea of what nVidia can achieve with a profile, and what problems they can fix. You just have to look at games that have profiles and still have major issues in 3D. Would the tips tell you to turn off all sorts of effect if nVidia had the ability to fix them? We saw with Bioshock 2 how nVidia completely relied on the developers patching the game to improve 3D at all.
It's a shame more developers and publishers don't seem to care about stereo3D and see the potential of it. Maybe when most LCDs are 120Hz (we're getting there), nVidia can drop the price of the glasses (if they were half the price they'd proabably sell 10x as many and make more money) and 3D on PC can really take off. Then devs/publishers will support it.

I wont argue all I'm saying is that there are 100's of games that are great 3d that wasnt made with 3d vision in mind. Does that mean this game will have good 3d? No, but we shall see.

I'm playing DS2 atm, setting lower depth and convergence set higher ands it's pretty decent. Same issues from DS1 though, hopefully can be patched (please nvidia).
Great game so far.

That's not really the point I was making. I've written quite a few D3D9 apps myself and they all work perfectly in 3D. I put no effort at all into making them work in 3D and neither did nVidia, it's just that the whole scene is made up of regular 3D objects rendered normally. As long as you render your scene conventionally, it will always work just fine in 3D, so most games should work fine with 3D. When you start getting stuff like bits of the scene that are rendered in screen space before or after the scene is rendered, there's nothing nvidia can do with their drivers or profiles to make those objects render at the right depth in 3D. For instance the sky in the Stalker series hasn't been fixed by the games having a profile. And nothing in Dead Space 1 was fixed by having a profile either. It would need intervention from the devs to fix these issues.

The fundamental problem with automatically converting a scene to S3D is, as long as your renderer is dead simple and vanilla it woarks and as soon as you get clever it doesn't.
Unfortunately most game engines get clever.
Until S3D is a priority for devs we're pretty much screwed and depenant on moaning in the game forums.
My hope on this is Sony's push for 3D on PS3 will mean more 3D friendly games coming accross to PC and more emphasis on S3D as a feature in development.

The 3d works pretty well...!
Haven't decided yet,to play with Shadows on or off...because I like both...
But in my opinion it's really worth playing in 3d...
I only have 3dsurround screenshots, but if someone wants to see some, then just let me know...
I played it last night with the recommended settings posted ealier. The game had it's moments but in the end the negatives out weighed the positives for me. I would rather play the game perfectly without 3D and all settings maxed rather than OK in 3D and a lot of settings off. Just my opinion.

Bummer, I wished you enjoyed the 3D as I do. What settings? The only setting that has any helpfull effect on 3D is shadows. Everything else can be turned all the way up or turned on. The only setting compramise is shadows... oh well to each is own I guess. Its a great game either way :)

I'm playing DS2 atm, setting lower depth and convergence set higher ands it's pretty decent. Same issues from DS1 though, hopefully can be patched (please nvidia).
Great game so far.

I wont argue all I'm saying is that there are 100's of games that are great 3d that wasnt made with 3d vision in mind. Does that mean this game will have good 3d? No, but we shall see.
