Does quad-SLI work for standard (single monitor) 3D Vision? 2 x GTX295 (dual-PCB)
  2 / 3
Quad sli kicks some serious butt in dx10 with 3d vision with latest drivers 258.96. The problem is in directx 9 with a few exceptions. Fire up Modern warfare 2 and Metro 2033 dx10 with sli visual indicators on. You will see the difference. There is a bug in dx9 games using 3d vision.

Haven't tried one 295 yet, but I'll try later and post back. I'm sure it won't be the FPS I'm now getting with quad-SLI though.

Could you do tests with afterburner stats graph to see if all GPU's are under load?

You should be getting that + more with 1 GTX295 and 3D vision...assuming your CPU isn't the bottleneck.

I get solid 60 fps on L4D2 maxed with GTX260 sli which is slightly lower spec than gtx295.

Left 4 Dead 2 = DX9 game, which = problem with x2 GTX 295's in Quad SLI. If you have a Quad SLI setup, and don't wish to disable Quad SLI in the SLI configuration, change the L4D2 to Single GPU mode and it'll work fine (at least until Nvidia fixes Quad SLI for dx9).

lol its funny because I generally find the opposite to be true with 2-way SLI and 3D Vision, so strange. I always figured it was something as simple as an AFR tick rate because the resultant FPS are just too convenient to be coincident. For example, with 3D Vision off you might get 120Hz capped (synch with S3D driver on), but with 3D Vision on, you might only get 20 or 30FPS (1/6th or 1/4th).

Can you do me a favor and check Avatar in DX10 if you have it and see what kind of performance and GPU utilization you get?

But good to hear it sounds like Nvidia fixed the Quad SLI scaling in 3D Vision, wonder if this was an improvement in the latest driver?

To be honest, if I didn't have an FPS monitor I wouldn't know there were any FPS issues. But thanks for the tip switching to a single GPU for that game. 3D on that game is very well done though.

I've mainly been playing BC2, and in DX10 3D it's quite nice. With my GTX295 quad-SLI setup I'm getting around 60-70 FPS.
