The combat in Grimrock is a deal breaker for me. It's just really bad design. You basically play the game by exploiting the grid system, should have been turn based like this at least in combat

What kind of turned me off about Grimrock (even tho I finished it and enjoyed it a lot) was that it was all indoors. combat was ok, lot's of dancing but kind of challenging on hard. @mike_ar69 -waiting eagerly for your patch. Thanks for the effort.

Just a quick update on this. Progress has been good, lighting was tricky and there are some bits to still work out (it affects the indoors scenes where you buy stuff etc, which isn't super important anyway). It's looking good though. Thanks to eqzitara for advice and help on some lighting. I will also be merging in a hud fix eqzitara did for the game while it was still in beta, so the final fix should be pretty complete. I've spent a fair amount of time on this fix, but will almost certainly never play it (the square movement thing is driving me mad), but it potentially bodes well for other Unity Games. Despite not having headers, I have seen some similarities with a couple of other Unity games I looked at (Forced and Sir You Are Being Hunted). I need to go through and check a lot of things, then I will release a WIP. One last point - the game does not play well with the latest DLL, required for the HUD fix. The mouse look does not work (hold right mouse button to look around) - there is a solution however, by changing to window mode and either (a) staying in window mode or (b) switching back to full screen mode. Then the mouse look starts working.

I understand the disdain for the grid turn based movement, but because I'm old school it's a really nostalgic and relaxing gameplay style for me personally. I can't thank you enough for spending so much time on this especially since you don't intend to play it. too good dude.

Cheers mike_ar69 for your efforts. I do hope you getting something out of this due to the fact you are not intending to play it. Sounds like you are gaining more power in your knowledge with the Unity engine. This kind of game is not for everyone. I like to play this type of game every once in awhile for a change of pace. I look forward to your fix. I don't hold any expectations and all I can say is you've already done a ton for the community and I'm sure all that are interested really appreciate it!

Hi - thanks. It's almost done :-) The game engine is messy, and there is one vertex shader that has its fingers in everything that has been problematic. The game also has variable FOV, so there's a slight bit of error dues to that, but not much. It will be done soon...

Thanks Mike for your Job ! I've stopped to play the game too waiting for your fix. We are lucky you're here, if we had to wait for Nvidia and his f***** fake 3D drivers...

Hey, lay off nVidia a little. It may not be everything we wanted, but it shows they're making an effort. That's more than we've seen for a long time. If we can keep a civil dialogue open with them, we may even be able to guide them in the right direction.

Don't agree Pirate. We've bought full Nvidia Hardware : graphic cards/transmitter, glasses first and second generation, a 120Hz 3D vision 2 monitor. They make money and it's guy like us who work free for them. Who know how long they work on their last driver ? Maybe a few time, it's the most easy solution they have choose. We know there is a real work to run DX11 game in 3D, i'm sure Helix/Equit/Flugan/Mike....spend more time than Nvidia trying to solve the problem.

Correct me If I am wrong but Isn't it a big part of the developers responsibility to make sure their games play nicely in 3D? Seems many of them don't even consider it.

Lord, I understand your frustration. But for a long time, there's been no movement on this. We're finally seeing some progress, and it could lead to better things. Besides, as necropants pointed out it is partly down to the developers as well.
