Anaglyph support for GeForce 6800 Bringning back what we once had!
Hi everyone,

Disclaimer: This is not exactly about the new Nvidia hardware so please direct me to another section if this is not the right forum.

My system: XPS Gen 4 - P4 running with XP and a GeForce 6800 (from Dell).

Back in 2005-2006, I installed a "Nvidia 3D driver" in addition to my regular Nvidia driver. This enabled my GeForce 6800 with the option to use 3D devices ranging from headsets to special display screens. It also had a cool Anaglyph feature that gave me a taste of the 3D.

One day, NVidia came with an "unified driver" and the anaglyph option disappeared. Now that new hardware is coming up (Nvidia 3D) my interest for the Anaglyph was renewed (eh... even Nvidia display the Anaglyph on their main 3D page!!).

I have downloaded the latest Nvidia driver and to my surprise I don't even see any 3D device, nor the Anaglyph.
The annoying part is that I know that it IS possible on the GeForce 6800, cause it worked in the past with DirectX games.

Anyone knows where can I get that special 3D driver for the 6800 on XP?

Thanks in advance for your help!!

nvidia has already stated that they are not going to be supporting windows xp so i would not expect support for older cards either.

But you can try the iz3d driver, they offer free anaglyph (support colorcode as well) and are not bad at all, you just take a some what larger hit in your fps then you would with the nvidia driver but it does have its advantages over the nvidia driver. You could also use an older version of the nvida driver like ver 91.31 they still work with your card and xp.

just google for the iz3d driver the current version is 1.10 rc1 (with rc2 on the way soon)

i keep both drivers on my machine because some games work better with one over the other

Thanks for the reply and the alternative solution!

Your answer make sense since it is about when Vista came out that I lost that feature from my old NVidia driver.
I didn't know which version I should roll back to to get this feature back, maybe I'll try with the version you suggested.

I'm a little bit cautious when downgrading drivers since it might cause stability issues (and I don't know the tricks to get around that) only for the benefit of getting anaglyphs.

It's hard to understand the logic of NVidia "give the candy and then take it back" approach but again, this all came about when the unified driver came out so this was perhaps a feature they had to let go on their older driver for simplicity's sake. Very unfortunate!

Thanks,

Hi. I'm using the 91.31 video driver : http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=1415 and 91.31 stereo driver : http://downloads.guru3d.com/ForceWare-91.3...nload-1440.html . Stereo is working fine.
First uninstall the current driver from control pannel/add-remove programs then install the old drivers.
