Problem with OpenGL Quadbuffer stereo on Quadro
I'm trying to use a Quadro 5600 with the Samsung monitor and the 3D Vision kit. (Driver version 186.18 running on Vista 32)
Stereo works fine when I test it with DirectX games, but I need to use it for some visualization software in OpenGL. When I disable the stereoscopic 3D option in the appropriate tab and enable the OpenGL stereo in the 3D settings and run my test program, the stereo works for about 30 seconds. The time it works is different every time, but after that the shutter glasses flicker out of sync for a second or so and then stop flickering at all.

Has anyone else experienced this problem and maybe found some kind of solution to it? I thought it might be a hardware failure of the emitter, but DirectX mode has no problems.

Not sure what you mean by 'disable'?? Is this an application specific setting or are you referring to the Control Panel settings? If you always leave stereo enabled, your OpenGL apps should automatically be detected. What visualization app are you using?

I didn't think OpenGL worked with these glasses. I haven't been able to get Doom3 going. Would be great if it is supported.

Well, according to [topic="100413"]this post[/topic], you're supposed to "Verify that the Stereoscopic 3D Driver is turned off from the Stereoscopic 3D control panel". That's what I mean by disable. I'm using an OSG stereo application for my test app.

tkerwin,

Andrew wrote "[i]On Vista & Win 7, the R186.16 driver will install the Stereoscopic 3D driver (this is the driver that provides the functionality games and other DirectX applications work in stereo through the 3D Vision glasses). Got it. I'm using a FX 3700 and in both the Control Panel's Global Setting and Program Setting, I have Stereo - Mode set to "On". This gives me active 3D whether I'm viewing the full-screen demo in the "Setup stereoscopic 3D" (set to refresh at 120 Hz) or viewing stereo aerial photos in my cartographic application (StereoAnalyst). If I turn Stereo - Mode to "Off", my OpenGL carto app gives me anaglyph only. My guess is the flicker is caused by the glasses shutting off. Try turning Stereo - Mode back to On and see if that works or if you're still getting the momentary flickering as before. Guess I'm not sure what Andrew means!
