Sbs's resolution involves 12% more pixels than 720p, so i'd go for the 1080p panel if thats an option. With plasma, burn-in and reduced brightness, especially in 3D mode would be the only concern i'd have, i think. But i've never tried them. They do have less ghosting though, Digitalversus takes these great crosstalk photos in their tests. As far as scaling resolutions, i've heard people complain about this before, but to me, its not a big deal and i enjoy 3d 720p more than 2d 2560x1600.

Actually it say NO input lag, i've never seen that before. Looks like a good purchase. televisioninfo takes a brightness measurement through the glasses, they might have reviewed this so you could find out, but keep in mind that your visual system will somewhat adjust to the dimmer picture and you'll perceive it *somewhat* more normally after a few minutes. So maybe its nothing to worry about. One thing i do is pump up the brightness settings so i can see detail better. I also have a "picture" setting, which raise the brightness of the lighter parts of the screen, not sure if Panasonic has that, but im sure you get the general idea.

this is looking more and more like the tv for me. It doesn't come with glasses though. Will any glasses do? Should I do research into glasses or are they all pretty much created equal.
Also, got any tips for me before i go down this road? I read up on "breaking in" which i will do.
:EDIT:
So i found a deal where i could buy the p46st30 for 704 dollars and it included two glasses so i went ahead and purchased. I'm now looking to buy a third pair of glasses. I saw the xpand 103 and it seems that allot of people vouch for them being better than the stock glasses from Panasonic. I haven't made the purchase yet, i want to be sure.
Is there anything else i will need with this new tv? I have a dvi to hdmi 1.3 cable from my last hdtv and i was planing on using that. When i hook it up to my computer im going to try the three different 3d options available, tri def, 3dplay, and iz3d. Will the tv know how to work the 3d image from the computer without me owning 3d vision glasses from nvidia?
psssst. also will the new line of graphics cards by nvidia handle 3d gaming with sidebyside at 1080p? or would i have to buy 2 in sli?

Samsung line here in Spain is called PS--- there in the states is called PN---- i think, only change is in that letter i think.
About plasmas break in, my advice is to reduce at half the brightness and contrast for the first month and you are set, i did that and never had a burn in, i own 3 plasmas.

You will use the glasess of your TV.
For side by side you should select this format in the options of iZ3D and Tridef:
With Tridef you will launch the game from their panel and then you will press the 3D button on your tv remote control and select the 3D format you want up/down left/rigth.
With IZ3D you will launch the driver and let it active in the task bar, then launch a game normally and ill be in side by side, then you will press the 3D button on your tv remote control and select the 3D format you want up/down left/rigth.
3Dtvplay form nvidia works different:
Just check that is active in the nvidia control panel and automatically will put any game that is compatible in S3D, you dont need to press any button on your remote, the only problem is that the resolution must be 720p/60hz or 1080p/24hz, if your game runs at one of these res. your game will be automatically in S3D.

The consensus seems to be that glasses don't make much different at all. Some glasses are said to be slightly tinted to account for the color differences the panel produces in 3D mode. My Sony's were tinted, my Sharp wasn't and was much brighter and didn't mute the colors and contrast nearly as much either, not sure if that was the cause but at one point i thought with the Sharp glasses in shutter mode were as bright as the Sonys just put on and not yet shuttering. You may understand that better when you get your glasses working.
My experience with Tri-def was mixed. Mass Effect 2 in SBS mode played great at 1080p and the 2d light and selection brackets were better placed than 3DTP Play, while Metro 2033's performance was unplayable. That was with a GTX260. I tried the Tridef demo out again recently with a GTX570 and there was some sort of problem with the drivers or my settings because i couldn't get a single game to run right. But i know it works when it works.

I am also interested in this. I am currently debating between LG 47LW6500 and Samsung UN8000D. I gave up 1080p 3D play since current hdmi 1.4a cable only supports up to 24hz at 1080p. So I will most likely be using 3dtv play and 720p @ 60hz. Which one plays better for this? My current set up is i7 2600k and gtx 580 sli. I wanna get lag free gameplay and good 3d movie play. :(

I'd say the D8000 is the better choice, at least right now, since you won't lose half of the 720p resolution with the active 3D. With passive, you will. My in store experience with the passives is that the lines are too big for up-close use, which i do at 2'8" away from a 46" screen. Further away you might be just fine with it, but i'd see for yourself. You don't need any 3D content to see the lines in the store, just the glasses. Im not sure if 3D content would change anything. With the 580 in sli, i'd consider the 27" Asus since it will do 1080p @ 60hz using Nvidia's 3D Vision. Since in 3D, your eyes are litteraly focused beyond the monitor, you can simply pull it closer to you to achieve a greater field of view without the discomfort when trying to do that in 2d.

or do you mean framerate lag, like some people mean when they say lag??????

no, acer h274hn doesn't have input lag. I was talking about 3dtv. I heard 3dtv has input lag when I use it as 3d monitor to play 3d games. I just wanted to know if anyone have either lg lw6500 or samsung un8000d to tell me their 3d game experience(not console 3d like ps3 but from pc to 3dtv). I also heard there was firmware update for lg lw6500 to make resolution higher in 3d mode. as you all know, normal passive 3d tv only has 540p on each eye but this new firmware for lg lw6500 makes resolution 1080i for each eye. so if that's true, i am pretty sure it can do 720p each out instead of doing 360p on each eye to do 720p @ 60hz. I wish there's someway to test this but no one seemed to own these two tv set. :(

Well thats a relief then about the input lag.
FlatpanelsHD said that the lw6500 update made an improvement [without having seen the TV for awhile], while some avsforum users say it does nothing. You still have the lines.

Will the tv know how to work the 3d image from the computer without me owning 3d vision glasses from nvidia?
psssst. also will the new line of graphics cards by nvidia handle 3d gaming with sidebyside at 1080p? or would i have to buy 2 in sli?
this is looking more and more like the tv for me. It doesn't come with glasses though. Will any glasses do? Should I do research into glasses or are they all pretty much created equal.

I already have acer h274hn 27 inch 3d monitor. I just need bigger screen tv that can do 3d good without lag.

That monitor has input lag? Well that sucks! i was considering it.
or do you mean framerate lag, like some people mean when they say lag??????

no, acer h274hn doesn't have input lag.

I purchased the 46st30, one of the best performing 3D TVs. It has some of the lowest ghosting and least amount of input lag (16 ms). I'll post back here when I try it out.
