Basically when you bring a rifle up to aim down the iron sights or even into a scope you naturally tilt either or both your head and or the rifle. And since you tend to aim with only one eye opened you loose stereoscopic 3D anyway. The game should shift out of 3D as you enter one of those viewing modes is my opinion.

Do note I have met one or two people who claim they fire with both eyes opened.

I shoot with both eyes open in real life - BUT I bring the optics up to my DOMINANT eye (right in my case) rather than my nose!

The simple solution is to do what IZ3D drivers already do and have a left/right shift option which simply moves the two cameras a bit to the left or right to align with the centre of the screen.
The game Dev doesn't need to do a thing. It's the people making money out of S3D that need to put the effort in to make it accessible and functional.
I don't want to wait 2 years for S3D gaming to become the norm before my games are properly playable!

you can close one eye and have the gun actually aligned on the target,

You're solution is to play the game with only one eye opened? Better idea...since this would result in no 3D effect whatsoever, play the game in 2D. That way, you need not bother with the 'one eye open, one eye shut' technique.

I tried IZ3d's driver on my kids's pc. The Left/Right camera shift is a genius! WTF NVIDIA??? Where's YOUR camera shift option?

I can aim more correctly with crappy anaglyph 3d using iz3d than I can with my super expensive 3d Vision setup!! NOT F*CKING RIGHT!!

Aiming, not play the game.

Anyway, if this is so wrong to you, forget about it, like I never said a thing. Let's focus on how could 3d vision allow an ironsight get aligned.

When I'm firing (rifle qualification) I tend to bring my iron sights up and scan with both eyes open. When I see a target I then close one eye and aim at the target. Its just an option we would like to have.

While Crysis 2 works fine with the iron sight more or less, there isn't much depth to worry about.
