PowerDVD 10 3D works well on VISTA
  2 / 2
I have just watched Lord of the Rings, the two towers special extended edition on power dvd 10n 3d and i must say that it looked very 3d indeed, i thought it was better than how to train your dragon trailer, some of the scenes are excellent as well as the close up face shots, i think i might try some of my other DVDs now shame you cant use blu-ray discs

I was using Vista 32 bit and although the 3d options show up in the player I could never see the frame sequential option 120hz in the drop down menu.
Only polarized or 3D ready TV would appear, so I tried to hook it up to my Plasma (Checkerboard format) and use the 3D ready TV option but it wouldn't work still.

It definately must need win7 as I updated to this on the weekend and get all options now and it works to my Samsung 22" 120hz, Optoma HD66 and my Samsung Plasma (<--Old School 3D plasma not new Samsung 3D tv range) hence checkerboard format

I have only ran 1 DVD through it to check out the 2D-3D convert job, it's not too bad from my brief look. This was an IMAX Space DVD so when I have more time I will do some more testing, I did notice on the HD66 I needed to drop the depth from the 50% default down to about 1/3 of the bar maybe thats just my perception though.

You guys ever check out 3Dfier plugin you can use with Nvidia 3D stereo player, the trial only plays something for 5 mins than the video pauses but you keep hearing audio. You can trick it by playing something first than changing your time backwards, the good old tricks last forever. I think 3Dfier from memory is pretty much same results as powerdvd 10's 2D to 3D convert if anyone is keen to try it. Maybe the dev of this plugin couldn't be ask locking it down for the glitch to change time backwards to get around the 5min trial but I do feel kinda bad when I do it :) anyway ...

Just wanted to add that it works great for DLP users using Windows 7... DVD 3D on the fly is pretty decent. Waiting for that first bluray to try...

This is such a pain. When Power DVD 10 Ultra 3D was first released it worked in windows vista but now it does not. I had it working since before Easter, just finished some coursework and tried again but it does not appear any more for the frame sequential glasses. Okay fine if they did not want to support vista whatever but why support it then suddenly stop supporting it. It worked WAY better in vista than 7. 7 keeps screwing it up and losing the stereo driver about once a week and usually it will work for a day but then starts blacking out the left eye completely but not statically it actually flickers but not the light frequency flicker you can actually only see black through the left eye flickering on and off every 2 seconds or so making films unwatchable damn 7 so I have to reinstall the drivers every time I want to watch a film and even then it often fails. I really hate 7, every program crashes every day or 2 vista was rock solid if you took the time to configure it. I have NEVER had a program crash in vista but I get a good 10 program crashes a day in 7... damn 7. So I try to change my OS back to vista only to find that Power DVD no longer supports vista for the frame sequential 120hz glasses. I just want 7 to disappear, its the bane of my life. If anyone knows any other program that will play dvds and upgrade them to 3d in vista please tell me.
