VG278H users, help needed. (or other Asus displays)
Had a VG278H a while, always been well aware of the backlight bleed and such. Only recently I'm noticing more and more how cloudy the display is. Its usually only noticeable on greys, and on a moving image, say if I minimized the window for this site then dragged the box around I see patch spots where its darker or lighter. I know TN panels are usually pretty bad, but does anyone else have any input as to how bad theres is, or if its even there? Thanks.

Not sure if mine has this problem. If so, it can't be very bad because I've never noticed anything. (Am not at home to check).

My 3 seem to be fine. I think I got them about November or so. I little hard to picture exactly what you mean, but nothing jumps out at me. ...now I'm gonna look for problems! :)

I get some bleed, but I don't notice it unless I'm looking at a completely monochrome screen.

I had a previous VG278H that had some bleeding. I got it replaced at the store I initially bought the monitor from. It was a fist-sized blop bleeding blue'ish hue on the right side of the screen. The one I now have initially had the typical halo-bleed, which went away in roughly a week and doesn't show again. Other than that, there's some very marginal bleeding at the edges but that's it - otherwise no bleeding.

Mine doesnt really have an issue other than the viewing angle. Seems like if the monitor is tilted up just a tiny bit the image in alot darker. But if you tilt it down a bit its looks great. Overall i like my Asus monitor, the colors could be a bit better in 2D, but i also have a 2560x1440p monitor right next to it so it just might be that i notice it the different alot more when there both on. Looks fine in 3D and thats all that matters.

mine has been great since day 1, since March 2012. No issues to report at all.

After looking around its called backlight uniformity, my last monitor had this cloudy effect to it also but to a lesser degree. I guess it's also influenced by monitor settings and the lighting in the room as to how much of it you can see, but supposedly all monitors do it to some degree. Thanks for the input guys, guess I just got a crappy one.

http://i.imgur.com/YS1Jwoz.jpg Might need to flick through monitor presets or (if you are using TN) move out of the viewing angle to be able to see what I'm talking about, my camera doesn't seem to pick it up well, but thats what I'm talking about. The blotch in the bottom left is probably just the camera, the only things I see are the big horizontal streak in the center and the vertical bars everywhere. Anyone else get these? Thanks.

Backlight uniformity is not the vg278(e)'s strong point. Mine is definitely not uniform, and has some of the same issues. But.. I don't notice it at all with normal use. I definitely don't notice while gaming, which is what this monitor is for. I only notice ultra smooth 144hz 2d gaming, and badass 3d. Maybe I've just had crappy displays all my life and I just don't know any better. But this is still the best monitor I've ever owned, even with it's inherent problems. Then again... you may indeed have gotten a lemon. it happens.

Thanks. Think I'll contact Asus about it.
