3D TV Big Question mark
Hi guys, I've searcj on the forum bu I couldn't get my answer realy well so I hope someone could help me with this one:

Im planning to buy a 3D HDTV thinking of the LG 42LW4500 or the LG 47LW5500. First I was planning to get Nvidia 3D Vision Kit but I need a 120Hertz screen for that one so I'm looking for a cpmplete 3DTV. After I saw the compatibility list on the Nvidia website, I noticed that the two TV's i want to buy arent listed. Does it mean that only the tv's listed there are only supported or is it still posseble to play in 3D with one of the two tv's i've mentioned before??

The 3D vision kit would be worthless for the most part to you, unless you plan on also using a monitor or projector where you could put them to use.

Okay I just figured out. For those who own an 3DTV that is not listed under the support list of Nvidia, can use 2 other different alternatives to play content in complete 3D.
For those who have or planning to buy the LG 42LW4500 (or different models)can apply the following steps (one of the two has to be aplied):
1. When connected your PC to your 3DTV on 1080p resolution, enable your LG TV's 2D to 3D Convertor. You get the same results as using the 3DTV Play driver.
2. Download and install 3DTV drivers other than Nvidia 3DTV Play. (Will not work with iZ3D drivers) Give me some time to put the links here of the drivers that will work even on 720p resolutions. (will post them here)/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />

Little update:
I said above that iZ3D drivers wont work. Well it does work for 3DTV's. Just download this driver: http://iz3d.com/download/files/iZ3DDriverSetup_3D24InchLED_1_13_5443_.exe

Will post other drivers here

The opposite is true. The best reason to get a 3d Vision kit is to be able to game in 1920x1080 native resolution/full framerate on a full sized screen 3DTV such as Samsung, something you can't do on either a monitor or projector.

I wouldn't exactly refer to the 2D to 3D conversion function of the TV as getting the "same" results as 3DTV Play. Way less Depth and conversion adjustment, but yah, you do get some 3D stereo effect. I used it to watch Corpse Bride the other night, the effect was decent.

Yes, you could also look at a Samsung. I'm not sure, but I think CheckerBoard is still in a grey area with only partial support from Nvidia and only accessable thru a spoofed TV/display EDID. It seemed at one time that Nvidias plans/intentions were to do away with it and may still be that way.

Is the TV "Passive" or "Active" 3D technology?

3D Vision will not natively support interlaced "passive" 3D. If your application supports it (Crysis2 does), then 3D ought to work via HDMI 1.4 cable.

If the TV is "Active" then there are a few options.

1. If your application supports 3D natively, there is nothing more you need to do. Switch the application into Stereo SBS and watch via your HDMI 1.4 cable. Your TV's shutter glasses will sync with your tv.

2. If you want to have Nvidia "Vision" working and your tv set is not on the official list, you can search for a .ini file that once installed will allow Nvidia's "3dplay" to work without the vision kit. (you still have to buy the 3dplay key from Nvidia)

No pasive 3D doesnt support FULLHD anyhow,
I thoughd that 3DTV Play wasmt supported by every 3DTV?
BTW iZ3D does work with mine TV, My 14 day trial of 3DTV is over so I cant test it, but should it work?

Checkerboard isn't in "partial" support or in a grey by Nvidia. It's one of the output displays of 3D Vision, it's how folks with DLP TV's game in 3D. On the contrary, checkerboard is fully supported under 3D Vision, and has no support or possibly future support in 3DTV play.

CB is not in a "gray area".
CB is fully supported in all 3D Vision software. This will remain the case because CB is necessary for DLP support, so Nvidia must fulfill their obligation to provide support to all DLP customers.

If a 3D HDTV is not on the 3DTV Play official support list, it can be added fairly easily if it meets Nvidias requirements. (what ever the hell those are, I've no idea, perhaps any 3D HDTV can make it to the list?)

If your 3D HDTV is not on the list please refer to http://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/2774

@ roller11 & photios, TY for clearing that up, makes perfect sense, I should have concluded that on my own /wallbash.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':wallbash:' />
