OpenGl Games that work with 3D Vision
  1 / 5
Here are a few OpenGl games that work flawless in 3D Vision. As I am a great fan of Star Wars I tried the following games:

1.Star Wars - Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast
2.Star Wars - Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy

These 2 games can be played even in 3D Surround. I would like to provide some pictures but it seems ALT+F1 doesn't work:(

What you need to do is:
- Launch the game and make all the necessary seetings for video and sound (except resolution)
- Go to http://sourceforge.n...jects/gldirect/ and download GlDirect 5.02.
- Unpack it and in the bin folder you will find opengl32.dll
- Copy this file in game folder\GameData
- Using notepad++ open game folder\GameData\base\jaconfig.cfg (jampconfig.cfg for multiplayer)
- Find these lines and write them like:

seta r_customheight "1050"
seta r_customwidth "1680"
seta r_mode "-1" (this one is important)

save the cfg file.
Run the game and behold 3D Vision in action.

Optionally: If you want to run it in 3D Vision Surround in the cfg file modify like this:

seta r_customheight "768"
seta r_customwidth "3188" (wrapper does not support resolution higher than 4000)
seta r_mode "-1" (this one is important)

and add the following lines

seta cg_thirdpersonrange "130"
seta cg_fov "135"
===================================================================================================
- Another wrapper that you can use is TitaniumGL e but still offers compatibility up to OpenGL 1.4 http://titaniumgl.tk/
- Another wrapper that I found for "glide" games is nGlide. The website along with supported games can be found here: http://www.zeus-soft...e/compatibility
===================================================================================================

This is it!! Play the game in 3D Vision Surround.

Well Doom 1 and Doom2 work with 3D Vision. Quake 1, 2, and 3 work as well. Quake 1 looks beautiful with Telejano update. Speaking of old skool. Unreal Tournment 1 with some single player add ons are really nice.

I didn't knew about those ones;)) I don't have them anymore:( If you can provide the "How-To" in order to make them compatible with 3D Vision it would be awesome!

I would still love to play Sw Knights of the Old Republic and Doom3 in 3D thou...on current hardware. I guess we will have to wait for someone to make a wrapper for those 2 games.

Can you give some screenshots of those games? Are there any artifacts in those games (i.e. shadows, FX, light maps, etc..)?

Thanks, helifax
Just tested Q3 arena, JKII and American Mcgee's Alice. Apaprt from Alice all work fine. Alice's HUD is screwed up, so if you disable the hud via a "toggle cg_draw2d"you're good to go there too. I still want to try undying, which allowed for OGL so far as I remember.

Hi! Unfortunately I didn't find a way of making stereo screen-shots! (ALT+F1 says that it captured the image but no actual jps file is created) With Fraps I can't make stereoscopic printscreens:( If another program exists to create jps then tell me please and I will provide all the screenshots I cand make:)) :D

Edit: It seems that ALT+F1 doesn't work with my 3D Vision Surround config only...will try some more tweaks and will provide the screenshots I can make. (single or multi monitor)

EDIT2:

I managed to make some screenshots in Jedi Academy and Jedi Knight 2 in both 3D Vision Surround and single monitor 3D Vision. As you can see the 3D is clean without any artifacts.

Hope you enjoy it!

I think the wrapper translates games written in OpenGL up to version 1.4 (Not sure, but I think I remember reading this somewhere)
Anything higher I don't think will work with this wrapper...

I checked MDK2 and it seems it always loads opengl32.dll from Windows\System32 location.... I don't know yet how to bypass this...

Hello!

Has anyone tried Soldier of Fortune II using the wrapper? It's one of my favorite games and I haven't bought a 3D Vision kit yet just because I mostly play older games with OpenGL support.

Also Helifax, could you give us more infos about configuring the wrapper for Return to Castle Wolfenstein?

Thanks!

Hi,

I managed to test "Return to Castle Wolfenstein" and updated the original post. With everything that is needed to make the game running. (You will find it a couple of posts above)

I don't have the game anymore... I will try to find a copy of the game somewhere just to test it and provide the feedback.

Hope it helps,
