This is what we need, then we can all say FU..you Nvidia! They deserves it as we know they dont give a shite about us! Quote! "The Oculus Rift changed my life. No, seriously... Virtual reality has long been the ultimate promise of technology... The Oculus Rift actually delivers on the promise, and then some. It’s really, really amazing. Truly and honestly a revelation, a trip, a rabbit hole. And I’m going in. Forever. Goodbye universe. Hello universe." Totally agree, will be buying this once the consumer model comes out. Nvidia has really dropped the ball on support for nvidia 3D. Too many nvidia 3d titles that take months to even be playable in 3D, profiles that screw up 3D and a complete lack of news on nvidia 3D... To busy focusing on tegra and the mobile market. I will be supporting oculus rift whole heartily and hope it becomes the godfather to VR and 3D games. One thing that has been great about nvidia 3D though, the community!!! Thanks again to all who have helped the cause in getting 3D profiles for games :-)

The Oculus Rift appears to be the doorway for the consumer VR game system. What is most important is the developer suppport. Any hardware or new innovation (i.e. 3D Vision) is dependant on the games. Games are what drive these technologies. What I like about the Oculus Rift is the developer kits are getting out to some great game companies and it is the imagination of these game houses that are going make or break this technology. I think Nvidia hasn't got the developer and consumer support they were hoping for. It's the 3D community that have fixed the game issues for 3D Vision. It is also the 3D loyalists that is keeping it alive. I'm sure Nvidia has some Oculus Rift developer kits....let's see where they go with it. I for one, love the idea of VR. But what I have experienced to date has been unimpressive. 3D Vision is the best I've got.

My hope is that the Rift garners up even more attention for 3D as most games developed or modded to use it should already be displaying in stereoscopic 3D. So even if we don't necessarily want it, we should be benefiting from it. I really want the Rift but it's going to basically render my 65" DLP and my 5.1 sound system useless, assuming you'll need headphones to accurately track sound in-game. :D Ok, maybe not useless. I'd imagine It'll only work well on FP(S), POV, games. Which also make me wonder if everything should be in the 1st person view how they'll deal with the cutscenes.

Nvidia has pretty much done 3d when almost nobody was, so I wouldnt bash them for it. Nobody even knows what kind of support the oculus will have. Its going to need drivers that can generate 2 images for 3d just like everything else. I expect similar problems across the board with all the games out there now. If the game isnt written to render in 3d, it wont show well in 3d. 3d just isnt big enough for the makers to really put that much thought into it, its still a niche. I hope the Oculus is so good that it opens the floodgates on 3d like avatar caused the 3dtv boom. Cant wait to see the production version and hope it spawns some big competition so we can see sony and maybe samsung go head to head on one upping each other all the way down the line. It should be a cool year for 3d.

There will be driver that supports many top tier games like Crysis, Fallout 3, Skyrim. Check this topic: http://www.mtbs3d.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?f=140&t=16097 I personally cant wait for Oculus. There are now many first hand sources that tell experience is incredible and nothing like before. Also it is a huge advantage that it doesnt require rendering picture twice, so FPS will be great in heavy hitters

Really looking forward to this, nice headtracking and proper 3d! That's why I tossed them like $10 or $20 during the kickstarter. I own a 120hz Samsung monitor (S27A950) which use to run 3D Vision unofficially/unsupported in CRT mode (it's not an official 3D Vision branded monitor) but Nvidia removed that workaround, which was fine with old drivers...but when I upgraded to my 680 I couldn't run old drivers. There are workarounds and such, but to go out of their way and remove CRT mode was not needed. (sorry, this turned into more of a rant :P)

Interesting article. http://www.geek.com/articles/games/valve-to-show-off-oculus-rift-ready-team-fortress-2-at-gdc-20130116/ It'll be interesting to see what Valve comes up with. I hope this technology gets backed by serious game developers and they implement it properly. Could change the way we game....imagine Dead Space in VR, I don't know if I'd want to play that.....I'd crap my drawers....LOL

I am very positive about the OR. Sure, the devkit is not even in our hands but from what I read everywhere, journalists seem to love it! Even journalists that claim to hate 3D. Where can I buy shares in Oculus?

The Occlus Rift can't get to market soon enough. We need something new and fresh and I think the OR is the ticket. 3D Vision has been an amazing leap forward, but the lack of developer support has eliminated the drive to move it forward. Games in recent years have been utter disappointing and I blame the technical limitations of the console for this very problem. Multiplatform games always suck off the press, but it's the gaming mod community that save some of these titles from being flushed. Thankfully the OR is PC only at this point and hopefully developers will innovate with this technology and put new blood back into the PC. Hmmmmm, I feel better now...lol. Has anyone here pre-paid for a dev kit. I've been thinking about it.

I've been watching and cheering stereoscopic HMDs for about 15 years now. In that time every produce that has come to market has been at least twice the estimated price and half the promised specs. I'll believe the Rift when I see it. Until then I'll take their product announcement with a 5lb. bag of salt. To illustrate my point please see the stereo3d website discussion boards for both new products and HMDs. the failed and over-promised products go back for years. All of this to say "Don't get your hopes up". John
