Exactly, and Tritosine is trying to tell you the best method for stereo 3D. You did say money was not an issue. The simple method? Buy the Acer 3d ready PJ, look at the owners thread on this forum.

/thanks.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':thanks:' /> but I heard that acer PJ has some issues with depth control ( very low ).... is this true??
and another question !! is the quality of projectors same as the cinema ??
You said you wanted the best one. ;) Then scrap the shutters and go for a passive dual projector rig. There's nothing matching it yet. Probably in the future but we're not there yet.
Projector+shutterglasses is a pretty dark experience. A dual projector rig at home is even brighter than the cinema and maybe 3 times brighter than a shutter rig.
Dual projectors are supported by anything (iz3d, tridef, stereoscopic player) but not the nvidiastereodrivers (i consider nvidia 3d-vision as a niche product by now because of the bad compability).
If you want to go the shutter route anyway: Get the brightest compatible one you can get. Even though: The brightest one might not be the brightest in 3d because of adjusted deadtimes for the shutters but that's another story.

The Acer/3D vision thing is designed to be a cheap entry level product and it's limited to 720p only. There are a few professional 120Hz projectors that are 1080p and have 3D capability, they are very expansive but they are not supported by Nvidia at all. (in fact they are directly supported by no consumer products at all)
If you want anything better than the Acer projector, you have to go with a dual projector setup with passive polarisation and a silverscreen. It is expensive but you have the assurance that nothing will ever beat it... except the same setup with more expensive projectors.

Hiya guys,
I'm very much interested as well in this dual projector system but i am completely new to 3d so was just wondering if anyone can help me with these few points.
a) So i will need to purchase two projectors. And they don't have to be 3D projectors, which leads me wanting to buy two 1080p projectors. Does this mean the gaming resolution will be 1080p as well? I have a 480 GPU.
b)Two filters need to be placed over each projector and also a silver screen is required. What about the glasses? Linear or circular? which one has less ghosting?

a - yes if you use 1080p projectors, everything will be 1080p : gaming, photos, movies etc...
b - the type of glasses depend on the type of polarizers you use. If you use linear polarisers you have to use linear glasses, if you use circular polarisers you have to use circular glasses
Linear polarisation will provide the least ghosting
c - technically ... many reasons
1 : brightness/screen size
2 : you can use higher quality projectors than the Acer
3 : passive lightweight glasses
4 : want to invite friends ? buy more glasses for 1$
5 : no emitter required, no interference, no flicker

Better overall compability with software. Almost everything written for stereo-3d supports dual projectors. The only actual requirement is dual outputs of the graphiccard.
Caveats: Expensive (dual projectors but the silverscreen can probably be gotten quite cheaply (paint your own) and the filters as well). Usage of iz3d or tridef drivers will get you get kicked out of punkbusterprotected servers. Steamservers for tf2 and others (trackmania) works well though. I don't know if these drivers will be signed as legit for cheatbustering softwares and it remains to be seen. So far limited improvements for sli or crossfire. Get one beefy card or wait some more time and see how the drivers develop.

in your opinion mate, what do you reckon is more future proof?
The shutter technology or this dual projector technology? I'm gonna wait a while, possibily till end of the year to do this set up so hopefully there be more support, compatibility and cheaper prices etc
What do you think of this projector? It seems to have alot of really good reviews and a Full HD projector for under a thousand pounds seems a fantastic bargain.

Projector placement depends on what image displacement controls are available on the projectors.
It is highly recommended that you get projectors with shiftable lenses. It makes image overlapping easier and allows perfect precision (much better than a keystone).
Placing the projectors on top of each other is the easiest to setup : the lenses will be the close, you'll need to use smaller image corrections to overlap the pictures perfectly. Just make sure you keep enough space to get proper ventilation.
Optoma HD20 is a good choice if you're on a budget and want the cheapest 1080p dual projector setup possible. If you've got the money, I think there are some more interesting projectors in the 1000-1500$ range.
