Here are some batch files to make the registry hacks easier and quicker. There are three files in the zip. One .bat file to set the correct interleave pattern and lock down the registry key. Another .bat file to unlock the registry key for the time you want to adjust and save your convergence settings. Once you're done just run the other bat. There's also SetACL included which is an open source program for manipulating access permissions. 1. Move the 3 files to your windows\system32 folder. 2. Put links of UNLOCK and SWAPLOCK on your desktop. 3. Go to the properties of the links, under "link" tab click Advanced button, and tick Run As Administrator! just wanted to make a little program which automatically changes the values from the interleavedpattern-values everytime it gets changed from 3dvision. then i found the following: [url]https://code.google.com/p/3dvision-eye-swapper/[/url] it seems that somebody had the same idea :) i will try it in the evening. when there are problems with this programm, tell me, then i will make a new one.

Is it possible to use this hack on a 4k tv with active 3d e.g. Samsung. My understanding is that with passive 4k 3d you see the same resolution as with active 1080p 3d.

Wil31 - no, active Samsung 4K 3D TVs require a different EDID mod from passive LG 4K TVs (different timing). In 3D mode, LG 4K TVs display 3840x1080 pixels in each eye at 60 fps (full frame 3840x2160 computed, but interleaved 3840x2160 is displayed), while Samsung 4K TVs display full frame 3840x2160 in each eye, but at 24 fps (not 60 fps). Note that 3DTV Play does not support 24 fps display devices correctly, since it unnecessarily forces game and Desktop to use 24 fps timing, instead of preferable 60 fps game/Desktop timing like TriDef Ignition supports. This 24 fps constraint creates an unnecessary 17 msec display lag - see [url]https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/809649/3d-vision/please-add-hdmi-2-0-support-to-3dtv-play-/post/4487474/#4487474[/url]. Thanks so much for the edid, it worked beautifully. However, when I change to any resolution except the native 3840x2160, the 3d effect is broken. Does nvidia not have something similar to tridef where it internally renders at the lower resolution then outputs at native to get around this?

3D shouldn't be broken. You just have to use your remote control to select the appropriate input method.

Desktop resolution must remain at 3840x2160 to maintain 3D - however, some games allow lower in-game resolution settings (for example, Dragon Age Inquisition supports reduced resolution scaling like 50% - for 1080p). This reduces GPU/CPU processing loads. With a single, overclocked 980 (1367 MHz/1468 MHz Boost), I could play Alien Isolation at full 3840x2160 resolution (unfortunately, the passive interleaved format eliminates half of the data, but the full 2160p frame must still be rendered). However, I had to use 70% scaling for both Dragon Age Inquisition and Shadow of Mordor, to maintain at least 30 fps. I am migrating to 980 Ti, to improve 4K rendering performance.

Thanks, so it's per game instead of Tridef where it's a global scaling? Is there any way to tell if a game should support it other than trial and error? So far, the ones I've tried all break the 3D effect.

The EDID mod overrides other display settings, providing great native (interleaved 3840x2160) 3D display, but only with 3840x2160 Desktop. This restriction applies to both 3D Vision and Ignition. Some games support lower in-game resolutions, while some do not (like Lords of the Fallen, which reduces size of game in 2160p screen with lower resolutions). Unfortunately, this 4K 3D resolution requires more GPU/CPU processing than a standard 3-screen 1080p Surround setup, so some hardware upgrades may be required to get the best visual performance in all games. Note when using Ignition (or helifax's GREAT Wolfenstein New Order mod), I use 3840x2160 SBS display format. This produces a great 1080p 3D display at up to 60 fps, but a lot of extra data (4X) was used to produce this effective display size.

If you're talking about Tridef Ignition, it works in FPR mode even at lower than 4K resolutions. I've been using it for NFS Most Wanted, Far Cry 3, and Bioshock Infinite at 1440p and 1080P resolutions and it works great. The way I understand it is that it works similar to what you're talking about certain games doing and internally rendering at the lower resolution but scaling to 4K before doing the line interleave. By the way, I just found out that GeDoSaTo makes it possible for any game to render at 1920x1080 and upscale it to 3840x2160 to do the FPR interleaving after that. This makes a huge performance boost, without much of a loss. We lose half of the pixels vertically anyway. This seems to be an ideal soulition.
