How many people actually paid for 3DTV Play? Is it enough for them to even care?
They released 3 Windows 10 drivers in less than a week after bungling certain systems. They probably have bigger concerns than a couple hundred (or even thousand) people that bought the software and are doing a clean OS install.
The idea of a server hack makes sense. I DO know they can definitely recover your product key and they still have them on file. They were able to give me mine.
I'm in favor of them just scrapping the whole idea of paying for the software and just making it part of the drivers. It's not like it has a large footprint. The more widespread they make it, the more likely people are to use, support, and keep it alive. They could tack on an extra buck to every single card they sell to cover the cost of it and they'd still make more than they do now.

Yeah, this activation server is pretty small potatoes compared to the driver problems they have at the moment. The other absolutely terrible part of the Win10 release is that they are forcing you to accept updates, including drivers. They've already forced a totally broken NVidia driver to assorted people, blowing up their machines.
NVidia is dropping the ball on a lot of fronts recently.
My best/rough estimate of 3D TV Play buyers is on the order of 1 million.
Engineering estimates (order of magnitude), it's pretty clearly not 100K, because I think there are roughly 1M 3D Vision users themselves, and it's pretty likely that 3D TV Play at $40 was attractive to at least a bunch of those 3D TVs sold during the frenzy. It's clearly not 10M buyers. So, somewhere between 500k and 1M buyers is going to be an OK estimate. This is on the order of $40M for Nvidia, so it's enough money to actually consider what to do.
On the other hand, that's previous buyers, and current income has got to be just a tiny, tiny number. At this point in time, I also agree they'd be much, much better served by releasing it for free. Great PR, great goodwill (which they need), less hassles.

It's because they are working on the brand new Nvidia 4D TV Play, it's just like 3D TV play but with the extra 4th dimension.....time!
The good news is that (taking their) time is something Nvidia is really good at.
Will be awesome if it ever turns up!
If you pre-order you get a free batman game and early access to the pre pre alpha of Nvidia 5D TV Play, which is silence! They have this new 'brick-walled' technique that involves ignoring all your paying customers for months at a time which results in deep seeded resentment (from customers) AND loss of revenue!
Pure genius!
THIS is how you run a company! Good to see complacency hasn't set in!
(sarcasm is the lowest form of wit etc etc)

I don't use 3D TV Play myself, so I can't try these things out.
What happens if you uninstall the trial, then reinstall the trial? Does that work to get you 14 more days?
Okay,
Since Nvidia is dropping the ball......
TRIAL RESET TUTORIAL
I have used trial reset with succes for over a year now.
Tested on Win 7 & win 8.1
I use a benq projector with DLP glasses, So I dont know how it works with a IR emitter from NVidia
The site I got the program (Trial reset 4.0) from is:
https://www.raymond.cc/blog/how-to-extend-the-trial-period-of-a-software/
There is also a site with a IR emulator, though I never did read up on the thing:
Edit: Seems like it wont work with latest drivers
http://3dvision-blog.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=997&start=100
Reset Tutorial
*Start Trial reset 4.0 with admin rights
* Run Scan for Armadillio
*Delete the keys (Make sure you have backup of register)
*restart pc and the trial should say that you have 14 days left.
*you can use it any time, so with 4 days left, 2 days, or none at all.
*There is no need to run the setup again.
*Basicly it just removes the register info from the trial
Gonna work soon on a complete tutorial.
Though I hope this provide some help.

Who's in charge of this debacle?
Is it actually being worked on? Look at the ROG swift thread. It's 8 months and counting and you still can't use SLI with the monitor. Worse still no word on an eta!
No wonder companies like this get swatted, they drive people to despair.
Nvidia have popped the ball not dropped it by the looks of things.
Crying shame.

We are still actively working on this every day, without getting into to much detail.
A can of worms was opened and it was a bigger can than we expected going into this we are trying to resolve it asap!

What is your SLI issue with the ROG Swift? I use 980s in SLI and a ROG swift daily without issues.

Hi Josh,
Thanks for the update, it's reassurring to know that it's still being worked on. Not ideal that it's taking so long, but at least it's going to be fixed.
As for SLI and the Swift, there's a massive thread on the issue here.

Ahh you beat me to it pirateguybrush.
Thanks for the reply, we appreciate it.
Please Josh, for the love of God can you take the 720p limitation off 3DTV Play please
4k TV's with HDMI 2.0 have been out for years.
Also how come people have 4k 60hz working over HDMI 1.4 with 4:2:0 chroma but we can't have 3D 1080p at 60hz over hdmi 1.4?
Surely 4k 60hz uses more bandwidth?

Yes, it works. At least with 3D Blu-Rays. Haven't tried it with any 3D video files.
