Is it possible to play in 2D with samsung 2233RZ ?
I have this monitor, but always I start a game the magic bright is full and can´t modify (brightness, contrast, colors.... all is cut off). I asume it is to force us to use the better config for play 3d games, but what happen if I need to play a 2D game (I have some of them) ? I must eat this ?.... any firmware fix for this stupid restriction?

Thanks for the info, I will test it in a few hours. Then it mean that this restriction is caused by the Nvidia stereo driver, not the Samsung 2233rz hardware?.... It would mean that it is very easy to solve in future drivers, and would be possible to modify the brightness & colors also playing with the glasses.

Not using the glasses works fine. I wanted to try out a first person shooter to see how smooth it was at 120hz. No problems with colors or brightness either.

No, he means you can play 3d games in non-stereo mode by unchecking the stereo box (or just pushing the "power" button on the IR emitter). You still can't adjust the monitor brightness, color, etc settings in game-mode, whether stereo or not stereo. That appears to be a hardware limitation built into the monitor. :"> No clue why Samsung did this -- I wonder if the Viewsonic has the same restriction?

Until we get a new gen of 120Hz monitors we just have to rely on in-game graphics settings for fine-tuning.

Did I read that right? You can't adjust image settings in 120 Hz mode at all? Not even on the Windows desktop?
This would render the monitor pretty much useless to me.

You can adjust it just fine for general work and web surfing. I have mine calibrated for work and it is just fine for design.

No, you can make all the adjustments you want when it's in standard desktop/windows/browsing mode.

You cannot make any hardware adjustments via the monitor controls when it's in game mode, with or without 3d Vision active.

is it really?
Unchecking the box of 'Stereoscopic 3D Active' in NVDIA Stereoscopic 3D setting, I can adjust brightness, contrast and color ... everything else in 3D game mode.
But Either me, it is impossible to adjust those things after checking the box.
At any rate, you can adjust those things by unchecking the box in game mode.
(For reference, i am on VISTA 32 and have used 190.38 driver)

When I untick the 3D setting in the Nvidia Control Panel, i'm able to adjust all the brightness contrast and gamma settings fine. You do have to put a tick in the Use Nvida settings though. I am also using the same Samsung as you.

Yes, you can modify all monitor settings into games if uncheck the Nvidia box..... so it seem to be a Nvidia driver restriction, not a samsung hardware fault. Isn´t right?

So it is easy to solve this problem with new Nvidia drivers?

So just to clarify this: It is possible to adjust image settings in 120 Hz mode, as long as 3D Vision is disabled?

120 Hz in 2D is important to me for two reasons: First, I want to play games with 120 FPS VSync and second, I want to avoid the 3:2 pulldown when watching 24p Videos.

Yes it is. Also you can play around with Digital Vibrance in the Control Panel.
