Looks like it will be the wireless 'Hydra' people have been wanting. It will support up to 5 controllers ... 1 for your head ... 1 for each hand ... and 1 for each foot ... Lol. Really watch the vids at the bottom of the page. :)

Ive read about it a few times. I think it will be cool even with an hmz-t#. Problem is I think its going to be expensive/ require developers for head tracking so low implementation. Like a developer has to have rift support then this? Doesnt sound too likely to me. Also I am curious how they are handling the head part. You put on hmd.... then you stick the object dead center with velcro to top of your head. I guess we will see price + more about it on the 12th though.
Its just head + hands though.

Watch the 2nd video ... it's got the 'feet' in it too, stuffed in his sandals. I wouldn't go that far but it is free to enter anyway.

Weird product page doesnt mention it but your right.
They should drop feet though, no one is going to implement all that lol [maybe a few].
Peripherals are going to kill peripherals for the rift imo. Though tbh, I like the "treadmill" more [forget name].

Virtuix Omni I believe its called, and yeah, it looks sweet. That plus the Oculus would be killer.

Im curious if its going to have issues though tbh. Like I really like the omni but it seemed way to risky to preorder. Like its detection, taking abuse, etc.

Its up.... man is it expensive and you get it... one year later. I guess thats to be expected but that just seems long.
Im curious how well it will work with a hmz-t1. One of those packs attached to head, I realize its not going to be as good as "head tracking" but most games arent going to have headtracking support anywayz.
I still think that expecting games to have more then one point of tracking is not going to happen though. [I have no idea why people are buying more then one tracker]. You are relying on developers to have it/ support 5 trackers... not going to happen. Omni seems a better decision at that price point. No need for developers.

I'm yet to watch the video, but I looked at the price. Screw that. For a product essentially designed to be a peripheral for another product that doesn't even have a release window yet, anyone who drops that kind of cash is an idiot.

Yeah. I can't see these getting any meaningful support. 300 dollars for the full kit is something that's gonna be niche. Especially when it seems VR companies like Oculus and Valve seem to be working on integrated solutions to ship with. They're obviously gonna be no where near as elaborate, but you need widespread adoption to get software support. And a 300 dollar accessory isn't getting adopted in any meaningful number.

Finally got around to watching the pitch video. They show clips from L4D2 with 1:1 melee combat (a feature promised but never delivered on for the original hydra), but there isn't much that grabs me here. As Paul said, I really can't see a $300 rift addon getting traction with developers.

I just went ahead and pledged mine. I missed the early bird specials so I had to stick with only 3 Stems. I like the positional advantage that the step will have over any VR with head tracking. I know they mention it with the Rift but honestly I am looking at it as a stand alone device. I have 2 of the Razer hydra's myself (I was too eager to wait on shipping and ended up ordering from two different sources). I play mainly FPS and maybe some 3rd person games. Looking forward to it hopefully I can put it out of my mind and be pleasantly satisfied in 10 months.

The idea is cool, but I think omnidirectional treadmill is the way to go with VR, I don't want to walk around my house with my vision blocked.
