just interested to hear if any other users have the new Acer 27" 3d monitor and if so have you noticed any odd behaviour.
On the whole I really like it but am running it via dual link DVI and must say the 3d effect is impressive.
Just one issue. How long should this monitor take to show a 2d image from either standby or when youo restart the pc.
9 times out of ten when the screen goes into standby after ten minutes. I press the spacebar which usually resulted in the desktop being visible in less than a second.
On this acer. It takes an agonising ten seconds to display an image. When I restart the pc...................the screen does not show an image until way past the POST screen.
In fact about halfway through drive detection?
Do any other users have this issue, my pc is not on any power saving as is used as a media server also.
I have contacted the retailer who claim it is normal for this model.
Now if this is normal, why on rare occasions does it automatically spring into life similar to every other monitor I have owned in the last ten years?

That is the one thing that really bothers me about this monitor. The wake time is super long. I've got dual monitor and, when waking the computer, the second monitor (ASUS 2D) comes up in like 2 seconds. The Acer takes at least 10 seconds or longer to come back up. Even worse is that fact that it doesn't work for the POST (although the BIOS and boot options do work). Strangely enough, a couple of times it did show the POST sequence. So I know it can do it, for some reason it just doesn't. Weird.
Other than that, I think this is a really awesome monitor. The 3D effect is incredible. Really quite amazing.

Cheers for those that responded. The retailer said it was normal for this display to do this.
This morning it just came on instantly again. I explained the symptons to acer and they have told me to send it for repair............. I am somewhat confused with this as it does seem that on random occasions it will come on straight away but most of the time 10 seconds.
It either should do this or it shouldnt lol.
Not sure which is actually right, I certainly dont expect a repair for something less than 30 days old.

Mine does exactly the same thing. I thought maybe the driver was bad. What I do now is, hit a key on the keyboard and watch the bottom right indicator to go from red to white. Then I log in and hit enter even though I cannot see anything, and it starts quicker. It seems to either take forever, or need the screen to change a twice before it comes out of sleep. I wondered if it was something with an LED display, but I doubt it. I would not return it to acer since this isnt a defect, its how this thing is. I doubt there is a fix and a 27inch display is hard to get for some reason.

yeah my thought exactly, not sending it back if its supposed to do this. This screen ticks most if not all the boxes.
Looks sharp even though 1080p at 27". Matte screen so no reflection and excellent 3d.
Its just a minor niggle at the end of the day, I might try it with my ps3 and see if it behaves the same over hdmi etc, or is just isolated to the dual link.

My initial plan was to buy a short throw projector which would give me a larger screen that I know will be 100% ghost free. It will also cost another £250...
Can anyone give some feedback about this monitor?
any ghostign at all. this thread shows the 3D is "The 3D effect is incredible. Really quite amazing" which is quite positive!
I would really not be happy if there was ghosting - i think it wouold completely ruin my experience since im used to the h5360 and zero ghosting.

Well the bad news is you will see some ghosting. The good news is its not in my opinion much different than any other non dlp product out there and unless you go out of your way to look for ghosting it shouldn't be a showstopper. I have a Mitsubishi 82738 dlp which shows essentially no ghosting; I also have had the pipsqueak size Samsung 22 inch for the past two years as my monitor for 3d gaming. I just got the Acer 27 and it seems to compare about the same as the Samsung. If you are going to freak out at ghosting on something like Duke Nukem (which seems to have more ghosting than anything I have played in years) then don't get a non dlp screen. I personally don't let it bother me. I have lived with it for 2 years with the Samsung and probably got used to it. The size of the Acer and the ability to use it as a monitor for sit forward type of games ( Civ 5, etc) makes it worthwhile in my book. If you like the sit back type of games (with a controller) then just get a dlp for ghost free gaming.

I love the monitor but there is some ghosting, very minor but overall very happy. Picture quality excellent and pretty even colours.
All lcd displays suffer from ghosting to some extent and the acer is no exception.
It does not impact on gaming and I find it perfectly accpetable.
It has though changed my mind on 3d for the living room, previoulsy I was all ready to get a 3d tv. Now I must say after a friend purchased an optomax 3d projector, I'm definetely in that camp.
For a gaming pc, I'm not so sure....................guess it comes down to the type of game you play and the room you have.
I dont regret purchasing this monitor, as I still feel for the price and performance. It was good value.
The only negative factor is Acer's support on this monitor, having owned a dell 2407wp-hc for three years with a next day onsite warranty. Acer operate a collect and return.
This is pretty poor in comparison, as I was quoted a 10 day repair and return.

I have not noticed that it sometimes doesn't take that long, but I have never thought much of it anyways.
