3D Vision in "Condor : The Competition Soaring Simulator" / hack to force 3D vision activa
Hello,

I'm looking for a method to activate 3D vision in the following sim :
"Condor : The Competition Soaring Simulator" // http://www.condorsoaring.com

On the official simulator forum website, I've found some testimonies from users been able to fly 3D with this sim, using 2 polarized projectors and polarized glasses. http://forum.condorsoaring.com/viewtopic.p...ighlight=stereo (registration required).
I know that this was working thanks to the old nvidia 3D stereo drivers.

But because this game is not officialy supported (in the nvidia 3d vision compatibility list), 3d vision isn't activable in this game with the new drivers/glasses...

==> I'm looking for a "3D vision forced activation hack" or another method to activate it for this game.

I was (and I'm still) a little bit disappointed...
Before I received the 3D vision kit (2233 RZ + glasses) I was thinking that any DirectX application/game would be more or less compatible with 3D vision, and that the press of the IR sync emitter button was (dis)/activating it...
Now after 24h, it seems that 3Dvision is only activable in games from the "official nvidia 3Dvision game compatibility list"...

==> Does anybody knows any registry hack to make 3Dvision activable for a spectific DirectX application?

I'm sure that I just miss this virtual ON/OFF button to make it work...

Not really. 3d Vision works with *most* modern 3d games/apps as long as they are not OpenGL. It just works "best" with the games nvidia has specifically tested and tweaked the drivers for (the games on the compatibility list). Personally, I use 3d Vision with several games & apps that are nowhere on the list without any manual intervention at all and it works just fine.

But yeah, as Tikz mentioned, if you run into one that doesn't work with it, try renaming the .exe to something that the drivers will recognize. It "tricks" the system into applying nvidia's presets for that game to whatever you're trying to play. If mm.exe or oblivion.exe don't work (or don't work well), try some others. Eventually you'll hit on one that works unless the 3d engine for the app you're using just isn't compatible. :)

What are the minimum requirements?
The minimum required hardware and software for enjoying Condor is:

* OS: Windows Vista, Windows XP, Windows 2000 (Apple computers can use Condor via Boot camp)
* Processor: +1 GHz (non-Celeron)
* Memory: 256 MB
* Graphics card: DX7+ compatible video card with at least 64 MB memory
* DirectX and all drivers up to date.

As usual, better the hardware, better the experience.

I just tried to create a new "Condor" 3D Vision GameConfig...
I'm not sure I'm in the correct subtree of the registry because it still doesn't work.

I also tried the renaming trick, renamin Condor.exe to mm.exe; oblivion.exe; generals.exe ans so on... It doesn't make it either.

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\NVIDIA Corporation\Global\Stereo3D\GameConfigs\Condor]
"Link2"="D:\\Games\\Condor\\Condor.exe"
"Link1"="Condor.exe"

If you can figure out what 3d engine the program was built with and identify a known-compatible game/app based on the same engine and rename the .exe to that title you'll probably get the best result.

Unless, of course, as I said before, the 3d engine the app is based on simply isn't compatible.

Hi,
this 2 projector Condor setup is my :-). It is no passive system but active system with shutterglasses and super wide (2048x768 85 Hz, and stereo 3D)
I use the "old"setup with 7600 card, no problems here and rel.cheap. I use Matrox Dual head2Go.
Here is my video /in 2D):

Hi Hornet,

You really have a wonderful setup...

Do you confirm that the 3D Stereo does work in Condor properly ?
If yes, any idea how to get it working with the new drivers / 3D vision glasses ?

I'm sure Condor is compatible because guys like you have it working with old GPUs / drivers...
Why won't it work with the new one ?

Best Regards,

I'm quite sure that this 3D engine was developed from scratch from Uros & Gregor (the 2 programmers).
As far as I know, there are no other games based on the same 3D engine.

I think that the 3D engine is compatible with 3D vision because as Hornet told us his setup is based on the old nvidia & 3D stereo drivers.
Why wouldn't it work with the new GPUs/drivers ?

Are there no "always on" button for 3D vision, so that any running D3D app/game would be 3D vision enabled ?

Did you try setting it to anaglyph mode in the nvidia control panel? Maybe it worked with the old nvidia 3d but not with the new 3d Vision specific drivers? (I'm absolutely just making guesses here)

No, the IR Transmitter comes on (or enables) when it senses a compatible 3d program running, otherwise it won't do anything.

I'm interested too.
If anyone finds a tricko r anything to make 3d vision working in Condor, please, tell us!

(Maybe can we hope in the next nvidia 3d drivers? how can we ask a specific request? )

Guys, you missed a vital part of Hornet's post - a "7600 card" is what he plays the game with, which means Windows XP and legacy stereo drivers, so pretty much forget about playing the game with 3dvision and this goes for all dx7 and older versions of dx games. If you want to play them in s-3d you should have a special setup (with a Geforce 8th series or older card + winXP + Geforce legacy s-3d drivers) or a dll wrapper to make dx7 run as dx8/9/10. The dll option is available for older OGL games (up to opengl 1.1 I think), but is nowhere to be found for older dx games. Sorry to disappoint.
