Hmmm... the good part first: In game 3d now works better, as it shows more depth for me. It has the advantage of the 3d cross hair.
The bad: Unfornatunately it still has bugs when entering water (silver shadows, double outline). But thats's just minor. The gamebreaker for me is the still detrimental effect on frame rate: I just get one third of 2d - that's not enough (like 15 to 25 Fps). It feels sluggish too for me, sorry.
Do you experience the same or did I install 1.16 too hastly (I admit I just installed over the old version, so might just be my mistake, feedback welcome)?[/quote]
Me too, my fps in avatar using the 3d falls to 1/3 of the normal fps while playing in 2d mode ! It´s unplayable with 3d , too slow =/

1.16 drivers just don't work for Avatar, at least for me. That's just great, now I can't play the game anymore, I get CTD evertime I try to run the game.
It was running flawlessy with drivers 1.13 with all settings maximized, directx9, In game 3D enabled and AA2x. I loved the 3D effects, now I just can't play anymore, can someone help me out???
I tried reinstalling the demo again and it worked, it didn't crash. I was getting Avatar Demo has stopped working.
Then I went into options and selected the in game 3D enabled, TV's format as 3D Vision, 22 inches for monitor, 3 feet distance and applied the settings. After that the game has stopped working and I can't get into the options again unless I reinstall it. can someone tell me what's the hell is going on???
I thought this driver would make things better for this Demo not worse?? it was running flawlessy with driver's 1.13. Help!!

The driver must have been a rush-job. It's terrible and people that can get it to work are reporting no gain in performance in Avatar. I can't even get the drivers to see my freaking display which had been TOTALLY fine before. WTH, nVidia...
Guess I'll be going back to the old driver... which sucks because I bought 3D Vision for the Avatar game initially.

I had to resinstall the demo too, before it started working again (too slow nevertheless). Btw The 3d Vsion setup told me after the installation of 1.16 that my gt 285 isn't compatible with 3d vision. Well, it was before obviously and works flawlessly in most games.
Let us hope they were indeed just rushing somehting half-baked out and judge the whole thing with the next driver (today/tomorrow).

I think I found the solution. Rename the executable to Avatar.exe. Then it runs great with everything on Very High or High. Make sure you have the latest beta drivers that have the profile for Avatar. When you run it you should get the normal green Nvidia message saying that it is excellent. The game looks amazing :)

so installed 1.16 clean install, doesn;t do a reboot aver the video drivers get installed (that scares me) anyway I get the Avatar info now, still get under 20 frames per second, game crashes when I disable 3d vision in game, either from the menu or from the button. Freezes actually.

I did a clean install on drivers 1.16 either using driver sweeper in safe mode.
I didn't know about renaming the .exe It makes sense cause when you run the game it says unknown profile and this drivers should have profile for the game, so something is wrong. I guess renaming to avatar.exe instead of avatardemo.exe makes the nvidia profile for Avatar on drivers 1.16 enabled.
Anyway can anyone tell me that after renaming the exe I won't get CTD's anymore??? Avatar demo has stopped working, I hate that....
I heard that those crashes has something to do with AA enabled in the game's options but while I had drivers 1.13 it was working flawlessy with AA 4x, all setting maximized and the in game 3D enabled, 3D Vision format.

I played through it several times without any crashes. I had AA set to 2X. The framerate was at least 30fps if not better (didn't run fraps). I haven't tried lowering the detail because it played fine for me, but that is always an option if you want more fps. I'll try it again tonight with fraps.

Tried renaming to avatar.exe. Game is recognized now (green profile text appears). 3d looks really very good...
... but runs sluggish. Between 10 to 25 fps most of the time, unfortunately.
What irritates me the most is that it still goes to down to one third of 2d performance (like 15 fps 3d instead 45 fps 2d). That's very starnge, because normally my performance is halved at max with 3d on. Something ist still not running properly.

Here I can't turn on AA, if I do, the game crashes and the only way I can play it again is to reinstall it. Other than that, the game is working fine for me.

so installed 1.16 clean install, doesn;t do a reboot aver the video drivers get installed (that scares me) anyway I get the Avatar info now, still get under 20 frames per second, game crashes when I disable 3d vision in game, either from the menu or from the button. Freezes actually.
