A friend is looking o take the plunge in to the 3D world of 3D vision but is looking to buy a 3D projector. I don't have much knowledge about projectors but have narrowed down his choices to Acer H5360 and Optoma HD66.
Has anyone here used or seen both? What are some advantages or disadvantages for one or the other?
they are both very closely priced and replacement bulbs seem to be the same as well.

Any thoughts which one to go for?[/quote]
I went with the acer h5360 and I am glad I did. The only thing is if you want to hang it on the ceiling it may not work. mine has an issue when I try to hang it upside down it stops working its very wierd.

Thanks, my buddy went with Acer as well.
What we are looking to do is hang it high on a wall using a book shelf. So it will throw the image from high up, but it won't be upside down.
That shouldn't be a problem right? Options on the device let you flip the image correct?

Gotcha! Can't hang on ceiling if it isn't upside down...
What about the projector screen that should be used with this? I heard that 3D kills the brightness due to dark shutters as well as projector not being able to be as bright in 3D... Is the one type that works best with this in 3D and is also pretty good in 2D?

not really. 2d already has trouble with white screen, as its too bright. And 3d screen should be >2 gain and higher, while the 2d screen should be 0.6 gain. :)
Solution is silverscreen with a motorised white in front of it, and some kind of gain modifier for 2d ( switching into eco mode is not enough).

You'll probably have to mount it upside down, if you want to mount it high up.
It has no lens shift.
