3D Bug with 3DTV Play Skyrim Causing Long Load Times PC
  1 / 2
I've been running skyrim with drivers 285.62 on a clean install of Windows 7 64bit.

My current specs are i7 3.5ghz, 8GB ram, 2x 480GTX in sli, Panasonic 65VT30, nvidia high def sound through hdmi, OCZ SSD Vertex 2 hard drive, Asus P8P67 Pro motherboard with latest drivers and bios.
All settings for skyrim are at high with no slowdown. TV running at 1080p in 3D.

The game runs fine in 2D and load times are approximately 1 - 2 seconds. When I enable 3D through the Nvidia control panel and activate 3DTV play, my load times have gone up to 1 - 2 minutes on average.
Long load times experienced when going from towns to skyrim and also inside towns like entering a building.

I've tried disabling 3D vision but once enabled the load times persist in 2D. The only way I can restore quick load times is to restore to a previous backup of win 7 before I enabled 3D Vision.

Anybody else experienced this problem - most annoying as the game looks superb in 3D.

Any fixes recommended or how do you submit the problem to Nvidia for bugs?

I've since discovered if I set resolution to 720p and play at 1280 x 720 letterbox in 3D the loading time problems go away.

This doesn't look as good as full resolution 1080p however. The bug or problem occurs when playing at 24Hz and 1080p resolution. Loading times are huge even though the game runs smooth as silk when loaded.

Is this something nvidia are aware of?

nobody experiencing long loading times with 24hz? It could be a skyrim bug as I read it was tied with the fps

I haven't tested that 1080p@24Hz mode with stereo 3D so far. On the HMZ-T1, with its tiny double screens, 720p@60 stereo 3D is very sharp (and obviously FPS is very high, allowing for fluid gameplay). I tried 1080p 2D with it, but couldn't note much of a difference in image quality. Haven't tried 1080p@24 in 3d on it yet.

With 720p I haven't encountered that problem. I think Easty plays Skyrim in 1080p@24, stereo 3D (on HMZ-T1, too), but hasn't reported of such troubles so far.

It's probably better in 720p anyway as you say. Interestingly I downloaded the TriDef 3D software and installed that alongside 3DTV Play - weirdly it seems you need 3DTV play activated before you can use TriDef.

Anyway to cut the story short, the TriDef software make Skyrim almost photo realistic. I'm not sure what's going on but the combination of both pieces of software with TriDef handling the 3D is incredible.
I have all settings on ultra apart from shadows which are on high, 4x AA and 16AF with FSAA turned off. With the panasonic TV, I'm able to fine tune the 3D and there is no ghosting, making the 3D effect jaw dropping.

I've taken some 3D screenshots and will post later but this is the combination to use to get 3D looking the biz - 3DTVplay and Tridef (make sure the latest Tridef version 5.0 as they have working sky and water profiles)

Hi, just signed up for the site. Did you ever resolve the slow load times? I am seeing the same thing when I run the game at 1920 X 1024 24fps. Game takes a long time to load each are, but once loaded it runs perfectly with no stutter or lag. The picture looks better than when it is set to 1280 X 720. Is there a fix or does anyone have a suggestion to get rid of the 1 minute+ load times?

Thanks.

No never found a solution and Nvidia haven't bothered to respond even though the problem is well indexed on google now.

Guess 1280 is the only option unless you like console type load times.

I'm also having this same issue. Loading times are VERY long in 1080p 3D mode, but 2D is fine. I don' want to give up the extra detail of 1080p, hopefully there is a fix for this soon.

Does this occur with any other game? Maybe Betheseda can get this fixed on their end. It likely has to do with some process that's tied to framerate. There is a physics bug where extremely high framerates will cause instability with objects, perhaps something else is going on at the lower end, but how that would affect loading times is beyond me.

jap, but I`ve got the quite similar problem with batman arkham city, and its not the first time that 3DTV is messing up quite a lot!

Are you getting long load times in Arkham City once in the game? Or only on the initial start-up? The start-up load time was a known issue, the latest DX11 patch went a long way in fixing the load time so make sure to update your Arkham City if you haven't already.

the game is uptodate, but yes - the initial loading time is extremly long, the funny thing is: when i tap out of fullscreen (back to desktop) and joining back to game - loading is finished (but of course 3D is deactivated).

Any updates on this?
I'm running a 4,1 ghz hexacore i7, 8 gig ram, gtx 460 sli with 1gb ram (each card) and a triple ssd raid 0. And it takes about a minute or so (or longer) to load a new area.
Others with slower computers report 3-10 seconds.
Would be really nice with a fix!
