trying to find a nvidia 3d vision demo in NYC can't find a pair to try before I buy anywhere!
I've been trying to find a pair of nvidia 3d vision glasses to try out in NYC, with no success.
3d vision is quite an investment, so I'd really like to try before I buy, considering I'm going to have to buy a new monitor and rig as well.
Other than that I'm pretty sold on 3d vision.

Anyway I can't find a place to demo these 3d glasses anywhere in NYC.
I've tried Best Buy and PC Richard's and the geek squad hadn't even heard of them before.
B&H ny superstore has them in store, but their demo pair are broken and the manager says he doesn't know if they will ever be replaced.

Does anyone know anywhere in NYC that I can demo a pair of 3d glasses?

Much thanks for any help!

Hi ferry.

I like playing fps like tf2, cod4, mw2, l4d2, bad company2, and I'm looking forward to try crysis 2 in 3d.

Anyway, I can't seem to find any retailers that carry the nvidia 3d vision kit that have it for demo in NYC. I just called j&r NY stores today. They don't have it either.

Is the technology not mature or prominent yet?
I really want to try a pair! :(

Of course nothing can replace trying out the actual glasses and play games with a rig + glasses special built for 3D but in your case where no demo setup is available, I think you can try the alternatives: play games using anaglyphic glasses to have a feel for it, watching 3D movies at Imax or RealD 3D theaters also give a good feel for it. Then order the setup and use it for real, if not satisfied return the merchandise.

Most of the demo are poorly setup or with nominal convergence/separation that either fail to impress or even worse, turn people off completely. Many users having bought the setup but not spending time to go thru the basic adjustments also find it disappointing. Bottom line is, as a newcomer, getting the setup and having it for couple weeks to go thru the learning curve is sometime necessary. Good luck with your quest m8.

I purchased mine at B&H Photo - which is one of the best electronic outlets in Manhattan. Best Buy is the McDonald's of retail. Unfortunately, B&H does not have a demo as far as I can tell; I researched on-line through many a forum and read reviews before making the plunge to the 3D vision with an Acer GD235, and I absolutely love it!

..this is the way I tried it,before I bought my 3d setup...

I started up a game (in my case farcry 2)
Took two screenshots from a moment in the game...
First I took one screenshot, after that I moved my carracter from the game slightly to the right ,and took another screenshot.
Now I used a 3d convertion program and made one 3d screenshot from the two pctures I made from the game.

This way I could take screenshots and used the old red and green glasses from the old 3d days.

Hope you understand, because my native is not English.

Natually stereoscopic 3d from nvidia looks much much better....!

update:
I finally got to test nvidia 3d vision glasses! But it was all the way across the country, in Los Angeles, CA last summer at Siggraph.
I got to try Arkham Asylum, on some laptop, outside at an nvidia booth. The 3d was really cool! But glare from the sun made it kind of hard to see.
Anyway, ordered a pair of nvidia discover red/cyan glasses off amazon - new 3d vision hardware is way too expensive for me at the moment.

Thanks for the help everyone!
