280.19 Beta Drivers Out
  4 / 4
Are we ever going to get proper stereo 3D for Crysis 2? The 3D effect between 280.19 and 275.50, there is almost no difference whatsoever.

I hope there is at least 1 person at nvidia who recognizes this problem.

You mean get rid of the "Two-and-a-half D" effect where nothing seems to be more than 10ft away? No. There's nothing NVIDIA can do about that. That's just how Crytek decided to support 3D. I'm not real sure WHY they did that. Maybe something to do with PS3's 3D?

Performance reasons most likely. Because it is not your typical intensive 3D implementation, the performance cost is extremely cheap. Crytek was really shooting to narrow the game's scope and make it playable for everyone in all scenarios, which includes consoles in 3D. If they used true 3D, the game would have slowed down to a crawl. I'm not saying I agree with their choice, but that seems to be how it was done.

---------------

Now, as for the recent 280 series drivers (both beta and WHQL), I have had a lot of 3D-vision problems, and it is basically unusable.

1) Games always start with 3D on, even if I have the option to not default to 3D on selected. In order to turn it off, I have to completely disable 3D vision.
2) The RF emitter controls do not work
3) My glasses do not turn on (this might actually be a battery issue, I'll recharge it when I get home)
4) Games with a 3D-option built-in allow me to un-check 3D, the screen flickers a bit, but then it still stays in 3D mode.

I want to report a bug that is getting worse from the last WHQL release to this 180 beta driver. My system setup is in my sig, I am using the Acer H5360 projector.

Latest 175 WHQL driver: A few games, like Trine, loaded up in 60hz with 3D enabled. So Nvidia would give that error message "attempting to run .... wrong mode" or something like that. Obviously it is stating that it can't run 3D in 60hz mode, it must be 120hz mode. This happens with vsync set to on or off. Oblivion and I forget what other game would load in 120hz properly, but there would be that 3D vision "out of memory" bug.

New 180 beta driver: Now Oblivion also starts up in 60hz mode like Trine, giving the error message "attempting to run ...." I will have to go back and check, there was one other game that is not working properly now too. Other games like Tomb Raider Underworld work flawlessly as always in 3D vision.

What is going on here? The 266 drivers & 3Dvision worked nearly flawlessly. I had to upgrade because Dirt 3 ran sluggish and now I have a host of 3D vision problems.

Andrew, and feedback from Nvidia on the above issue?

I hate to even add this but I might as well.
Today after some insistance from some of my iRacing friends I went back to the original GTX590 267.91 driver and compatible 3D Vision driver.
Performance improved!!!! Also my 3dVsion Live now works.
I've done a clean install on every verison thats been released. For sure the original drivers seem to work the best for me.
No issues to report at all other than the normal....forced 'multi gpu' AA settings not working well when 3D is enabled.

What about support for all the upcoming BIG 2011 games. Bioshock, Skyrim, Battliefield 3, etc. Nice to see a new game I've never heard of (Deep Black) but that doesn't event have a release date.

Brother, we are still waiting for the much advertised 3D-Ready Bioshock 2 !!!

Basically check before you buy, they will give you no warning that 3d does not work, and they will gladly take your money.
