Bad Company 2 - Crosshair Fix !
Cheezeman,
the note is at Battlefield 2, not at Bad Company 2. I understand that this mistake happened, but it does not help those who would decide to buy the game also because of 3d vision support. Concerning the compatibility: google it, there are several problems with some single maps. I am not willing to say "Sry guys, gotta leave, MY version of BC2 will crash immediately after loading that map." :(
Again, there are 2 community fixes, the first one has problems with some maps because it just uses the older pre-patch packages.mft, but the 2nd one provided here changes the newer packages.mft and changes the lines to re-link the 3D assets: http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?s=&...t&p=1110713

This is DICE's problem to fix, plain and simple, as others have already linked to you Nvidia is aware of the problem and is working with DICE to get a fix out. Nvidia is not going to patch DICE's game even if they wanted to they probably couldn't, and DICE definitely broke 3D Vision with their last patch. Going back to your own anecdote about partnerships, if you shipped a product in collaboration with someone else, you design it, someone else executes it. If you deliver on your end of the bargain and your partner later comes in and breaks things and the customer complains and demands support, who is the first party you are going to call to fix it?

Weird. If we are thinking of the same one in this thread that shouldn't be the case. I looked through the two files and the both employ identical workarounds. The only difference is that the one from r3450n earlier in this thread (and later in the thread you linked) should fix the single player maps as well as the multiplayer ones. As such, I would suggest using it instead.

Yea I know and I did try it, but for some reason s3d will not work at all with that fix for me. For some reason, when I try launching the game with that, no 3d at all (button on emitter does nothing), and in order to enable it again I have to go through the 3d setup wizard. Weird right? In either case the fix I'm using now (that I linked to in my last post) fixes all the multiplayer maps just as well, and I never play single player so it does the trick for me. Not sure what the deal is with the one from e3450n but it might be specific to me as like I said others seem to be using it just fine.

I agree that it is Dice's fault. That has definitely been established (why would Nvidia want to break support for a 3D vision title). The complaints are here AND on BC2 forums. Let's say we don't mention it here, and it is only mentioned in 1 post on Dice's forum, do you think they are going to fix it sooner or later that way. By complaining about it here, "big brother /teehee.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':teehee:' /> ", may actually talk to Dice about it.
As for Dice breaking it, they loose a point in my book.

To be honest: I was kinda upset and maybe a little harsh. And it is really good to know that there MAY be some fixes, that either deliver working s3d in single or in multi player. But, and thats the point for me, I wont be happy with a half working fix as I am playing both modes. However, I am gonna try.

To the partnership thang: when our customers complain about a product of our partner that is not working and that product is part of a special marketing thing between them and us we are as responsible as they are - at least to the customer.

And I also know that this may sound kinda conspiracy theory, but it is too obvious that this footnote hasnt been placed there by accident. It just would look too shabby if one of the few "3D Vision ready" games would tell "Oh we are SO SORRY but at the moment s3d sucks with that game. Anyway, the logo still looks great!"

I for myself bought a Geforce because of 3D Vision which is lacked by the AMD graphics cards. And I am an upset customer :(

Current package.mft, unmodified (steam). Should be identical to an updated retail install.

If you have it on steam you can delete the file then "Verify integrity of game cache". It's a right click on BF:BC2>Properties>Local Files>
