newbie needs help with 3d stereo on new PC stereo will not work
hi all
I have just purchased a new home computer
system specs
Dual core Pentium 3.4Ghz
two 512 DDR2 ram
gforce 7600GS pci-e 512 meg ram
windows xp service pack 2.
I upgraded to the current nvidia drivers with the matching stereo drivers.
I selected the red/green paper glasses.
The test image work ,but when I went to play flightsim 2004 and went to enable 3d stereo the screen foze but the sound keep going.
I have made sure that the enable by hot key is ticked.
Anyone have any ideas what could be the problem.
Maybe you experience problems with the dual core issue. I can't help you if the fault is the CPU, as I don't have a dual one, but here in this forum there are several topics that talk about this and at least one of them show a workaround (i.e. to disable one CPU core) to get stereo working, until Nvidia releases a stereo drivers compatible with dual cores...

Its seems a backward move, disabling 1 cpu in order to get stereo working.
With technology moving along so quick, you would think those at NVIDIA are keeping up with the play, and releasing drivers that will work on all systems.
Seems that NVIDIA have forgotten about those of us who use 3d glasses or, are we such a small group that they don't think its necessary produce 3d drivers that will work no mater what system you are running.
Another thing is way doesn’t Edimensional and other manufactures state before you purchase their products that there are issues like “glasses my not work on dual core etc…
How knows maybe soon some one will produce a set of drivers that may just do the trick

Money is the name of the game. They don't state it because then people won't buy their product and they can't buy that ferrari and sell that heap of junk BMW they drive currently.
This is a problem with most companies. If it barely works, then it is sellable. Take Windows for example. It is bloated and full of bugs. Have they ever admitted it? Ofcourse not.
The goal of any company is to make money. If they have to screw you over in the process, then so be it. The only reason they pretend to give a crap is so you, the chump , will buy their next product.
Though saying that, nVidia is one of the best companies out there... just not for developing stereo :)
There are companies out there who make products purposfully flawed, so after the warranty wears out, you would pay through the nose to hve it fixed, which is usually a single overheated diode to cut off the supply to the whole system and nothing else is damaged. The diode circuit would be designed to overheat after a certain time.
As for ED, I personally wouldn't trust a word they say. Long gone are the days when they were the stereo community's knights in shining armour. ATi support my arse.

nvidia hasn't forgotten about us, it's just not a priority, and why should it be? This is free software. If you want to use your 3D then disable the damned core. You aren't going to miss it in the game. I am going to sound like the fanboi here, but we should be thankful that they release this at all... I am sure there will be a fix for the dual core proc, but until then, sit tight, use the work around, and have fun.
