Future of 3D Vision Support (Official announcement from NVIDIA)
  36 / 42
I sincerely hope Nvidia reconsiders the open source option or some other option which would enable the community to continue using the products they sold to us without going to extreme measures like dual boot (we'd have to have double the disk space and what independent saves?) I am extremely upset about this and I'm sorry VR is cool but usually nowhere near 3D Vision imo. That is using a 2019 headset also w/ a 1080 Ti. I am feeling some extreme dislike for Nvidia. How is that for strong language? I will support any option which allows me to keep gaming in a fashion somewhat like before. Not sure what to think now about that possibility.

So has the driver compatibility already been broken, and if so, which is the latest driver that works with 3d vision? I currently have 419.35 version.

Hey guys, so we can all agree that 3D vision is not coming back, and that they will not be making it open source... However they could make tons of money by selling an application based on 3D vision for VR use cases. Imagine having 3D vision on a huge virtual monitor - people would pay for that. Anyway, I sent this message to their customer support: "Dear Nvidia, I understand that you have decided to drop support for 3D vision, and from a financial standpoint, it makes sense. HOWEVER, there is a huge untapped market of VR users who would pay to have this software functioning to make their games side by side 3D for VR use cases. People want to play their old Dx9 / Dx11 games on a big virtual screen in 3D! Converting the existing 3D vision driver to display side by side 3D video has already been done: https://www.reddit.com/r/oculus/comments/7zp9hx/3d_vision_sbs_3d_for_flatscreen_games_with_the/ With a few modifications to your old deprecated 3D vision driver, you could make a new 3D driver for the growing amount of VR users. Something akin to Big Screen Beta or Virtual Desktop made by you exclusively for 3D vision VR gaming would sell like hotcakes. The VR market will only be growing from this point forward, and the demand for such a driver will only increase with time. With not much effort on your part, you could make a lot of money by capturing this demand early on as your 3D Vision implementation is unmatched by your competition... Please consider allowing users to use 3D vision for VR use cases - this would really give you yet another leg up over your competition in the vr gaming segment." What do you guys think? Could someone send this message or something similar to Huang for more visibility?

So my question is, is there some kind of tool that can switch between two different graphic drivers more less easily, so that we can go back and forth depending of what we're playing? I'm still in shock with all this, you can talk about Trump, climate change etc, but for me personally this is the real tragedy I care about, 3d gaming and VR are the only two ways I understand gaming now which is a huge part of my life since I was a kid, this truly destroys how I understand gaming nowadays, it's so depressing.

I have a W7 W10 Dual boot. It was not easy installing Win7 as it needed special driver pack during install but after installing it everything works just fine. All the drivers work as intended and didn't see any performance degradation ingame. Some things even work better as I am able to run some games in 3D that don't work in W10.

I have both Oculus and Vive. For 3D game support I have an active licence for Tridef VR that works wonderfully with my PJD7820 HD projector. I also have a PJD 6251 and 3D vision ready monitor for my 2700x 1080ti system. The only reason I ever bought any Nvidia card was for their stereoscopic support. Now that 3D vision is no longer supported it is very unlikely I will ever buy another Nvidia card. 99% of my game purchases in the last 3 years have been native VR titles. After 20 years of 3D gaming, I refuse to play any game in 2D. I will and have been buying any game that has native SBS 3D format. Such as Crysis 3, Rise of the tomb raider and Doom 3 BFG edition. As far as Nvidia is concerned, our twenty year relationship has ended. Just too expensive for what is offered. Viva 3D

Maybe at this point the best thing is to create a windows 10 iso with everything needed, from the last working windows 10 update to the final nvidia drivers, so that anyone that want to use 3d vision just needs to create a new partition and install that iso and everything is ready to go.
