Well yeah, it's a significant engine upgrade.
I'm curious though, does it look any different to the DX9 version? A lot of people online seem to be saying it doesn't.

No it looks the same but shadows, lighting are better not worth the upgrade for me it seems a lot more fluid but again I just want 980GTX to a titan X.

I would upgrade if it was 3d vision ready. But if 3d vision is broken or can't be fixed, I'll have much more fun with the original. 3d works great on the original.

Its worth noting that the important part of the SotFS version isn't the DX upgrade, it's the new enemy placement.
It's sort of a remixed version, different enemies in different locations. Think of it like the Ocarina of Time master quest, but for Dark Souls II.
There is also of course some lighting changes (it's nowhere near the original or TGS reveals though) and support for more players in multiplayer.
Does anyone know if someone is working on a fix for 3D vision in this game? I would love to play this version but I am simply not going to downgrade to this version from 3d Vision to 2D.
Especially since I picked up the Rog swift and am able to play the original in 3D at 1440p.

Thank god I did not purchase it the other day I was sitting drunk in front of my PC and thought it might be cool to play a better DS2... I will stick with my DX9 version that works flawless in 3D.

The DX9 version is flawless now? I thought the shadows were still broken?
I've held off on this game for a year and now I don't know which version to buy. May as well just keep waiting.
Ignition's Dark Souls 2 DX9 version has no shadow/lighting issues - great S3D - one of the last game profiles that Ignition staff fixed before significant support reduction. Have not tried 3D Vision profile, though.

For any 3D gamer new to the game, the DX9 version is definitely the one to get. After two and a half play throughs in 3D, I'm managing to enjoy the DX11 version downscaled from 4K in 2D though. Not as good as 3D, but it's a different look I can manage to appreciate.

This game is pretty weird/broken in 3D. I added compatibility mode to the game and it works better than automatic mode. In compatibility mode, objects with flames render off to the right side of where they should be. Also, the soapstone messages/bloodstains don't stay where they are but move around randomly when you move the camera/character. The rest of the game works great besides these things.
The funny thing is in automatic mode it's about the opposite of compatibility mode. The only thing that shows up is flames and the messages/bloodstains. They even seem to appear in the correct location, don't move, and render in 3D. However, this is all that shows on screen besides the HUD - there is no character, terrain, etc - it is all a huge grey space.
I loaded 3DMigoto with it and have had no crashes thus far. I went through all the Vertex and Pixel shaders, but could not find one to get rid of this grey void. I tried changing profile to Max Payne 3, but that didn't do anything.
I wanted to attempt to learn and try fixing this game, but I'm not sure where to begin with it in this broken state. Do you guys have any suggestions?

Well... first off, I'd say you'd want to experiment more with the basic stuff to see if you can improve the automatic mode display.
Try changing settings in the game to different combos to see if you can get anything better. Some effects run off the rails entirely, and you might be able to get closer with just a few things disabled.
Also, try switching to a bunch of different profiles, the list of known good ones on HelixModBlog are probably worth a try, although the DX11 has probably put a crimp in that. But, try some profiles to see if anything can be improved.
Next up, I'd suggest trying to play with the profile settings, in particular the StereoTextureEnable bits. If you decide to experiment with these, let me know and we can get you some more details on them. But for starters, just randomly trying to flip bits is worthwhile. These bits control what things get stereoized and what don't, and are a big part of what makes different profiles work.
Next up, you can try setting some of the features in 3Dmigoto, like surface create modes. This is related to how profile bits work, but maybe.
The grey fog thing is essentially the default background, and the other pieces are not being drawn properly over top of it. That suggests some sort of confusion with the automatic mode heuristics.
Goal would be to experiment and try to see if you can get anything to change, any improvement.
Thanks for taking a look, hope you can narrow something down.

One thing I forgot to mention is that whenever 3DVision is enabled in the control panel and turned off in game, the game renders completely messed up. There is random picture in picture stuff and whole parts of the screen get stuck on certain textures. The HUD textures render off to the right of the screen.
I tried all the recommended profiles from Helixmod, even the DX9 ones, but none showed any improvement. Mass Effect 2 put a black box over fire though. I also tried Assassin's Creed 4 profile, but same result.
I haven't tried a ton of combinations of in-game settings, but I tried Lowest and Highest and there was no improvement in 3D on either. Setting it to lowest (I haven't looked to narrow down which setting yet) made the 2D picture in picture problem better, but there are still some double images and the HUD renders off to the right still.
Are the StereoTextureEnable bits hex values that I should mess with in nvidia inspector under the Stereo section? Like Force Stereo Shuttering, Stere-Display Mode, etc?
I messed with some 3DMigoto Surface Create Modes, but no improvements.
Mode 0 - This is default right? - no change
Mode 1 - Automatic mode no change, Compatibility mode now has picture in picture glitches
Mode 2 - Can't enter 3D
The force_no_nvapi, surface_square_createmode, and automatic_mode settings had no change.

I started fixing some shaders in the game, but I'm having trouble figuring out how to fix several monoscopic shadows. Are there some good examples of how to fix them? I could also post the shader dump code if that would help.
I managed to fix some bloom effects, remove some double imaging, and fix character shadows outdoors. The shadows that I'm having trouble with are the ones cast by torches at angles.
