27 inch 3d capable displays
Can anyone please tell me how many 27 inch monitors are out there that can work with the nvidia 3d vision ? There is only one listed on the nvidia site. And this one comes with a pair of the glasses, but does it require anything else to run 3d vision, or does it have the nvidia transmitter incorporated ?

Also , what are the exact requirements for the nvidia 3d vision monitor - all it needs is 120hz besides the nvidia 3d kit ?

There's multiple 27" displays capable of supporting 3D. The only requirement for a monitor to support 3D is that it is 120hz (this is to make sure each eye can get 60hz refresh rate).

The one pushed by nvidia was, for some time, the only 27" display available for 3D (this is no longer the case). It's the Acer HN274H which I happen to own.

Acer's 27 inch monitor not only comes with a pair of nvidia 3D glasses, it comes with a built in IR emitter. A nice addition as it allows you to play any 3D content, even separate from nvidia 3D vision. You can hook up a blu-ray player or a PS3 and enjoy 3D on this monitor. If you own this monitor and a nvidia card capable of pushing 3D, you own everything you need to start enjoying games and movies in 3D.

You'll need to hook up your computer using a dual link DVI capable. This capable is provided with the monitor and will work fine with any 200, 400, or 500 series nvidia card.

If you purchase a different monitor, you'll need to purchase nvidia's 3D kit which includes a pair of active shutter glasses and an IR emitter. Acer's monitor requires neither, the IR emitter is built in and it comes with a pair of wireless glasses. The glasses a very comfortable. I wear them over regular glasses with around the ear headphones (for more comfort, I rest the nvidia glasses on the headphones rather than my ear, it doesn't effect my view of 3D or the monitor in any way).

The monitor works fine out of the box, but if you haven't installed nvidia's 3D driver, you'll need to reinstall your driver and include 3D drivers. Run the 3D wizard to calibrate your 3D and start enjoying!

If you want to use 3d vision, the requirement is, that it's listed as compatible.
NVidia check the edid of the display before they enable 3d vision.
It used to be the case that all 120 Hz monitors were compatible, but it's not true any more.

So with the acer can I use multiple nvidia glasses ? And also , what do you mean that not all 120hz monitors are capable of taking the nvidia 3d vision anymore ?! What else is required ?

Also , I suppose the Acer comes with the first version of the glasses, and as far as I hear they came up with an even better 2nd take on them.

Not officially, apparently you can make it work, reports on here vary as to how good it is with 3D Vision.
As I said above if it's not on the list, you're better off assuming it doesn't work.

Ya but there's only one 27 inch monitor on the list , and I can't get a hold of it in Romania or pretty much anywhere else close.

For what it’s worth, the ASUS VG236 also works. Mine came with the NVIDA kit, too (one pair of glasses and the IR emitter). I got it from amazon.com. Though I’m not sure how many inches it is.
