As for the first question, I don't know about a fixed limit. I've used up to 3 glasses without problems, so I guess it depends on how many people can stay in your room and near the monitor.
As far as I know, 3D Vision 2 changed the glasses, not the emitter, so I guess the answer for your second question is yes

There is no fixed limit of glasses (if they are cordless). You are only limited by how many you can fit in a room and have somewhat of a view of the emitter (enough to activate the shutter glasses). I have the nVidia 3D vision 2 glasses and they work with original 3D vision setups. I am using them now with a 3D vision projector.

Also, I have found the 3D Vision 2 glasses to be much more comfortable than the regular 3D vision glasses. Specifically the nose piece. I had to glue the nose pieces on my original 3D vision glasses to keep them from coming off and stabbing my nose. This caused a lot of discomfort. Although there is a little screen reflection in the frames, I just ignore it.
