About to smash this 3D Vision kit into a billion pieces.......
  2 / 2
Took it all apart and everything looks good. Looked pretty solid to me. I guess I'll just have to wait and get a new USB cable....

RED on the emitter means no firmware is loaded into it. (The drivers actually load the firmware on Windows boot into the emitter itself.. embedded system) It will stay green until you either un-plug it or effectively turn OFF the PSU of your PC (not just shutdown since your MB and usb ports still receive power) However what you are describing looks to be a hardware connection issue... It's interesting since on my 3D Vision 1 kits I got 2 usb cables (per pack): a short one and a long one... Anyway I don't think is the cable at fault here but the actual usb slot/connector in the emitter that's faulty.... :(

With that in mind, try pulling the cable out of the connection slightly, like 1/2 mm. Some of the USB connectors don't make good contact when plugged all the way in. And this would be more consistent with it working properly on the laptop.
