Colorbug with 4K EDID
  1 / 2
I've got a new 65UH850V (US 65UH8500), and it's working great, 3D looks excellent except for some bad color ghosting (a lot of red on the right eye where white objects would be on the left eye, specifically). I've tried the acer 4k override and this one by joker18: https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/980085/quick-passive-3d-capable-4k-tv-inquiry/?offset=45#5044002 Some things: - UHD Deep Color is enabled - I've tried with YCbCr444 and RGB, full and limited range - TV is set to Game Mode - Input is HDMI1, set to PC (both label and icon) I used to use the Zalman EDID override on my old TV, since that one worked without color bug and I do not need the audio. So my question here is, can anyone help me with making a new 4K EDID using the old Zalman one, or point me to some resources where I can learn to do so? Is it even possible with the Zalman EDID? Thanks! [s]I've also tried to dump monitor info, but MonInfo does not seem to display my TV in the list (only the registry versions that are overridden).[/s] EDIT: Installing the newest version did the trick. Here is my TV's inf: http://pastebin.com/R35VtNgL

Strange, I don't have colorbug with the same TV (55") and EDID. Only high contrast crosstalk and decreasing contrast helps. Maybe EDID installation is not done right or windows mix the EDID files, before uninstalling EDID also delete or move it from install folder, then install the new EDID and restart PC. Also try installing Nvidia driver with clean install, one time I had an issue with Nvidia driver, it refused to recognize new EDID, clean driver intstall fixed it for me.

I'll try that, I did have some weird stuff initially with the screen being scaled incorrectly and had to install/reinstall EDID's a bunch of times before it worked properly. What does your high contrast crosstalk look like? The crosstalk I get is most visible around white objects (red in the right eye, yellow/blue in the left). But it's everywhere and I never had it on my previous 1080P LG TV.

In dark scenes bright objects creates ghosting or in GTA V when looking at the blue sky Power Poles creates ghosting. I had colorbug with my TV when trying different EDIDs, but not with joker18's EDIDs.

Use YCbCr444. It is not necesarry to use game mode. It is better in my opinion to use Expert mode. Much better image quality. Another thing is not to touch the 3D buton. If you did it will introduce ghosting, to solve retart the TV. After label modification- retsrat the TV After Sharpness modification sometimes is necessary to restart the TV. If you see red, pink only in one eye , that is color-bug. You shouldn't have it if everything is installed properly.

Thanks for the suggestions, Joker! I disabled the TV's quick start option, so it would do a full restart each time. Unfortunately, after trying many things and restarting each time, the problem is still there. I also tried all 3 inputs, each time both under the PC label and the Game Console label, both with Expert and Game mode just to see if that would change anything. Another weird thing I've noticed: I tried disabling HDMI UHD Deep Color, just to see if that would change anything, but it didn't appear to change anything at all! That option is for 4:4:4 chroma subsampling, right? I used the usual chroma subsampling test image: http://www.ozone3d.net/public/jegx/201412/chroma-subsampling-test-4k-tv.png which I know works because it correctly changes if you set it to 422 or 420. However, with HDMI UHD Deep Color disabled, it still showed up correctly. Very strange. I will do a full EDID and driver wipe later in the hopes that that will restore it. I also tried the build-in 3D test image to see if it was a problem with the TV itself, but after carefully inspecting it I could not spot the problem anywhere at all. BTW, do you guys disable HDMI audio going to your TV? I usually do, but I don't think that could be a problem, could it?

No disabling sound is not a problem. I do the same. You can use Chroma 4:4:4 even if you disable UHDcolor but you will have colorbug in red, pink.... Are you sure you are using the correct edid? I did upload also a version that had colorbug but I deleted it now to avoid confusion. When you apply an edid it is very important to have only one in a folder. Otherwise you could end up applying the wrong one and not even notice it. So I recommend to re-download, move to another folder, restart with Driver Signature enforcement disabled and then install it. After this you either restart the PC. or use driver restart from CRU.

Wiped drivers using DDU, reinstalled, and made sure to remove EDIDs as well. Tried with original acermod4k, your EDID, and the one you created for the 55" version of this TV, all placed in separate new folders. But still everytime the same result, unfortunately. Does anyone have any good 3D test patterns? Either image or videos, so I can test directly on the TV to make 100% sure this is a PC related bug. EDIT: I created this 3D contrast test image, and tested it using a USB stick and the TV's 3D function (SBS). This also introduces the same artifacts, (mostly) red on the right eye, and (mostly) yellow on the left eye. So it might just be a characteristic of the TV? It's very noticeable in games, and my old set never had this much ghosting, especially not with specific colors. Otherwise, ghosting is better than my old one.

I took some photos of what it looks like. Right eye photo is a bit blurry, but you can still clearly see the obvious problem. It's not always this pronounced but any object that has some red in it has it. Left eye same problem occurs, except it's very mild and yellow, so you don't notice it as often and it isn't really that much of a problem.

I tried your test, no colorbug, just ghosting due to high contrast difference. Tried with both TV's SBS 3D option and Tridef's media player (interleaved), they look similar. Is your TV's firmware up to date? Mine is 04.30.65.

I have a 60uh8500 and only had success with Innuendo's original acer4k edid. Joker's edids prodcued high crosstalk on the set for some reason, maybe colorbug. Although I still get more crosstalk on this set than the one I use for my monitor, LG 49ub8500, which is a 2 year older model. I'm going to rexamine tomorrow because i wasn't sure what colorbug was before reading this thread. Maybe I've still got it and am mistaking it for regular crosstalk...

It's weird because I seem to get the same result with Innuendo's EDID, joker's 'Acer LG TV' and his EDID for the 55" version of my TV. Also, changing UHD Deep Color doesn't change anything, neither does any other setting. Always the same color crosstalk everywhere. It doesn't become worse, and the crosstalk doesn't get any less no matter the configuration (with exception maybe from image enhancing features and sharpness, which I always turn off). I'm using the latest firmware (04.30.95) which is not on auto update yet, but downloadable from support. This adds the HDR Game Mode, and there's also this: "To improve color error issue at the bottom of the screen during HDMI 4K 3D On/Off." Maybe the update introduced this problem? I didn't test it before updating unfortunately.

If you want to try downgrading, you can download previous firmware from below link: http://www.lg.com/uk/support/support-product/lg-65UH850V

There doesn't seem to be an (easy, safe) procedure for downgrading, unfortunately. I'm gonna do a full reset of the TV now though, maybe that have some result. EDIT: That didn't do much for the color bleeding, but at least somehow now my settings menu seems to launch quicker, and 'apply settings to all other inputs' seems to propagate more settings, so there's that.

My 60uh8500 is actually just about perfect after closer examination. I did have problems at first though. Here are some things I had to do. - Use innuendo's edid instead of joker's, joker's had colorbug on my set. - Get a new 2.0a hdmi cable and a repeater because I'm running the cord 15+feet. The signal won't carry correctly over long runs without a repeater. - HDMI Deep Color is on - Labled the input to PC and have the TV in Game Mode picture setting - Using the 3D eye swapper application to switch eyes. RGB color in Nvidia control panel That's about all I can think of. Maybe one of those items will help. Best of luck.
