The Witcher 2 in 3D Vision Official thread from NVIDIA
  80 / 82
If the shadows "break" after alt-tabbing out of the game, you can fix them simply by decreasing then increasing the depth back using the depth wheel on your emitter. If your emitter is built into your monitor like it is for me using the shortcuts for decrease/increase depth in game.

As for convergence, allow me to paste what I posted earlier in the thread.

You put those commands in your user.ini file in your documents folder under the viewport section, where your resolution is.

ConvergenceClose=0
ConvergenceCutscene=2
ConvergenceInside=3
ConvergenceOutside=3

Default convergence for inside and outside appears to be 2 and raising those numbers will increase the convergence for more popout. Obviously there is some trial and error with reloading the game to see how it looks and getting it to your preference.

Oh, you can also carry this out to the tenth digit also, like 2.5 for instance to find your sweet spot.

I am not sure the first setting does anything but the last two definitely do. Obviously you will need to change settings and reload the game to tweak to your preference.

Thanks for the tips. The locked convergence is fine (it is at a good spot) but I don't think anyone is alt-tabbing anymore. It just happens everytime I launch the game from scratch. I am curious to hear what setting was lowered to fix it (from above). i think I ave lowered just about everyone to dial it in to no avail. /thanks.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':thanks:' />

edit how about that for typos /blink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':blink:' />

I saw that earlier, but i thought i might not have all the patches applied. Thanks, thats a big help, it was not playable before, the default convergence for me is WAY OFF.

I'd thought I resurrect this thread so that we might comment on specific issues here. First off I would like to say that alt+tab no longer breaks the shadows with the EE patch applied. Second, performance got a massive drop on my machine with the same settings. Third - any plasma owners out there could try this patch, made with Helix tools, to get some transparency and prevent image retention.

Artox.... i notice a performance drop with the 290.10 and 301.24 driver.... This weekend i've installed the EE and improve the performance of TW2 a little. 3D looks the same as before. I hope nvidia with the next driver make a mayor improvement performance with this game (like Skyrim).

Well, I'm running 295.73 and I did try the game pre-EE and it definitely ran better. Haven't ventured into 300 territory due to many complaints. I really hope Nvidia could boost performance, because frames fall into teens during heavy fighting scenes. A particularly low fps scene I've discovered is in the waterfall cave in Flotsam forest facing outside, the game crawls to a halt.
As for the visuals, there is definitely an overhaul, especially visible during cut scenes and fist fighting. The amount and usage of DOF has changed. Pay attention to the Yorveth scene with the kingslayer prior to act1.

I'm still using the 295.whatever drivers and so far performance has been perfectly fine. I am playing with a new PC though so can't really compare the EE to the prior playthrough. I'm not using the Uber setting, but everything else, and I also upped the texture and AA quality using Nvidia overrides. I always thought the textures were a little grainy before (not the edges, but within textures) somehow looked like I was playing at a low resolution. It doesn't look like that anymore, which is great!

The texture graininess actually comes from the in-game sharpness setting. Turning it off really reduces the amount of edge artifacting but at the same time also reduces the fidelity. Definitely try turning it off and testing. I've found that a significant slowdown, which I've introduced myself stems from using smaa, which I added in Vergen during my last playtrough.
I am still considering disabling vignette, it adds to the game during gameplay, but sucks in cutscenes.
Btw you mentioned a new PC, try editing the settings in the ini file, like increasing foliage distance to 7.2, which is above ultra, it helps reduce the texture pop-in.

Thanks for the tip. So far I haven't been able to slow the fps down enough to bother me. It's staying in the high 40's (not verified, that's just what it feels like). So I might be able to push things a little bit more. But what setting controls the sharpness? I don't remember such a thing even in the advanced section of the launcher. And what's smaa? Are you talking about SSAO?

The one setting I can't stand is the motion blur. I hate how everything blurs into hyper speed when you just barely flick the thumbstick. How can anyone play with that on?

To get to the sharpness setting you have to edit the ini file directly. This is the user.ini in where your save files are stored, my documents, withcher 2. SMAA is a postprocessing shader injector technique, similar to but less blurry than FXAA.

I play with the motion blur and it doesn't bother me. Look closer at the settings in the ini file, but bare in mind that you edit any setting in the laucher after having changed things in the ini, you ini stuff (which is nor recognized by the launcher, like this foliage distance) will be lost.

Thanks, I tried these .ini settings tonight and having good results! Lots more to see in the distance with no discernible performance drop. I'm in Flotsam right now. I didn't bother with the SMAA injector - I just don't like downloading 3rd party game enhancers etc... unless I have to. I'd rather try to keep my gaming system as clean and free of bloat as possible. I'm having good results adding AA through the Nvidia CP on top of the game, as well as disabling texture filtering, etc... Game looks fantastic now and I'm not seeing the overly sharp textures like I was getting on the first play through on an older system.

I've been spending an hour or so tweaking this, and I'm constantly getting flickering on the right of the screen. It's only in the left eye, and it's as if certain elements (rocks and buildings mostly) only spring into existence once they enter the range of the right eye, and vanish when they leave that area. Anyone got a fix?

Setting pre rendered frames in the nvidia driver to 1 can help this. I did have objects popping into existence with the witcher 2 though. I can't remember if this method fixed it or if I just ignored it.

I think you need to turn on nvidia crosshair to get rid of this in this game. Which I think also reduces the framerate by varying amounts depending on the scene, so it's a tradeoff.
