I'm a little interested in this title. It's very different and 3D would obviously 'work well' in it if it did truly work well in it. Ever since I found out this game was likely to be supporting Oculus Rift I've been asking Krillbite Studios about the possibility of Stereoscopic 3D/3D Vision support and here's the final response I got:
Heya TsaebehT,
If we will support Oculus Rift (which we want to), the game will have support for stereoscopic 3D (side by side) indeed. The only job we would have to do then, is make it possible to have this as a separated functionality through the option menus.
There might be some news just around the corner on this. ;-)
Sidenote: We are using Unity3D and we're keeping to DirectX9.
Thanks for the questions, and sorry for the late answer.
I backed that a week ago, looks really interesting.
Considering you're already a backer, you should really let them know you're interested in 3D, their first response was this:
Hey TsaebehT,
at the moment we're putting our focus on seeing if we'll be able to implement Oculus Rift, so we haven't really had the time to look into 3D Vision. If a lot of people requested it, and there was an easy way to implement it, we might look into it, but it seems unlikely at this point.

I'm the kinda guy that tries to get 3D into a 2D game I backed. Lol. :D

Actually, I sent them a message as soon as I backed them, too. I'll see if I can dig up the response.
Yep, here is is.
Q: I have a 3d vision monitor, and I'd like to test and help you guys make this great in 3d.
A: At the moment, we're offering Alpha testing to all backers from tier $100 and up, and will be doing such tests locally at our studio :)
Q: What engine are you using? Unity often works well.
A" We're using Unity, so from your description it seems we're in luck!
Q: Which version of directX will it run under, as the community can help patch DX9 games, but not higher
A: Dx9

You might point them to the Nvidia Developer Zone 3D Vision landing site. It has a few PDFs they could read https://developer.nvidia.com/3d-vision-and-surround-technology
Im pretty sure unity doesnt run well in 3D. They'd have implement themselves. [Shadows off the top of my head never run right]
I am iffy on oculus rift as a "3d platform"/"replacement" but thats definetly a game that should have support. That would be very interesting due to perspective and how game is built around you being like 2 feet tall. Not to mention body awareness which is a feature pretty much needed for rift games is already implemented [Look down - see body, Reach out - arms extend, etc). Though it's not official they are, they may not. I dont think people realize how expensive in cost/resources it is to support the Rift.
It may work out depending on how unity changed for rift support though. I have no idea.

I agree, it does sound interesting although I'm not too sure I want to feel like I'm 2 feet high, especially with the twitchy reflexes of a typical CoD player. :D
Some of the video footage makes the mouselook seem extremely out of place. The head movement is way too fast and precise to simulate a toddler. I'd expect something a bit more sluggish and wobbly.
Rift support confirmed? Does this mean anything for 3d vision?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oD5eEzJjFbA
Bah. You beat me to it! :D The one thing that stood out, to me anyway, was how good the head 'control' could look vs the twitchy mouse control.

That's exactly how I want to play it ... I think with the OR I'm going to be even more critical about 'body awareness' to the point that anything in the first person will not only need body awareness but also hand/arm awareness, like the few games that are trying to implement Hydra and OR support.

Skip to 4:20 .If you havent seen it yet. If motions aren't 1:1 they are damn close.
Im damn excited for games like among the sleep/the gallery. I dont think among the sleep will do any hand motion stuff since there is no point in it. I am still really iffy on third party renderers. I think there will be alot more misses then hits with them.
Also when I looked for link I found this which made my day lol[Though he doesnt really like games]

I saw an earlier video, one where he was moving planks and rocks around, this video is so much better. I could see a game like Condemned working really well on that, it almost makes me wish it (Hydra/Rift) was it's own platform because I think it'd get better all around support, at least Rift plus Hydra support.
I could maybe see the Hydra working in Among the Sleep, to walk 'shuffle' back and forth on your sides, eg. right hand forward = left foot forward, to drop down to the floor turn your palms down, to crawl palms down and do crawling motions, to open drawers/doors reach out and grab and pull/turn them, to pull yourself upright again reach out with both hands to grab and then push down and you're back to the walking position again.
edit: Watched the 2nd video, pretty cool stuff. I liked how he was surprised that gaming was pushing the technology, hasn't it always? Gaming and porn. Lol.
I never understand why they give the guy a mouse and wind up positioning his fingers on the keyboard when there's a 360 controller right there on the desk ...
