Quadro Driver for 3D Vision in May? (perhaps in the 185 Release.....?)
Drivers! Can work with 'em, can't work without 'em! I'm glad to hear everything's now on the same page and working together. bigben posted in the "Quadro Driver for 3D Vision in May?" thread that he only needed to install the nvstusb.inf driver and all of his of stereo apps worked fine. That might explain why I had no issues after uninstalling my stereo driver. Perhaps the other installs and registrations are just mucking things up and confusing the issue. I'll be setting up a couple of more kits and going to stop there and see how it goes. Stay tuned....
What Quadro cards are currently supported? For some reasons I only see geforce cards listed for 3D vision

And is it really so that Windows XP is not supported at all?

Fine fine! I made System's guys reinstall the QuadroFx machine and I reinstalled Quadro 186.18 driver and 3D 186.18 driver (I had to install both 3dvision and nvstusb drivers for it to work, because only with usb it didn't work).

Now I see perfectly StereoViewer :D. But I have only turned on Stereo. No shuttering forcing and no triple buffering needed and with the unified back/depth buffer on.

I love reinstalls! hehe

BTW: I uninstalled stereo driver and it still works. However I must point out that I tried stereo viewer with just the nvstusb and it didn't work 'till I installed the 3dvision driver.

EDIT: no luck with Vista. I can't see StereoViewer in Stereo (the quadbuffer call is done but no emitter activity at all)

Hello Verni,
with the 190.38 current quadro driver (xp) no need to install the 3d stereo driver .
Xp has better support for opengl (and opengl stereo) than vista (microsoft fault).
Overly simplified you could say
opengl xp=os level
opengl vista=driver level

I think your problems in vista are due to the fact that you can not have stereo in a window and overlay.
The first quadros had this limitation ,nvidia solved this problem in later drivers.

It all works now in both XP and Vista. It was my fault the Vista thing... I hadn't unchecked the "Enable Stereo" in the control panel hehe :P

I don't understand much about these nvidias video cards, so please be kind.

What I have is Windows XP 32-bit, Geforce 8800GTS, and Samsung 2233 120Hz display with 3D Vision glasses.

I had this display with glasses as a present, and now it seems that all I got is an extra display with useless 3D devices. I have tried to read this forum now and searched for an answer, but seems to me like nvidia is not going to understand that many Windows XP users are still alive.

Any advices, else than upgrading to those eye candy OS's? I really can't replace XP with Vista or Win7 because of a the fact that drivers cannot be found for my present hardware. And with the hardware I ment webcams, printers, old scanner etc. Computer itself is ok, AMD Athlon X2 (AM2) 3500+ and 4GB ram.

Thanks in advance!

Cheers,
Gary

Gary, your best bet is to dual-boot when Windows 7 comes out in less than three weeks. That way you hang on to XP and all the XP-dependent hardware and you boot into W7 to play your games in 3D (and take full advantage of your 3D Vision monitor and glasses). Short of that, I don't know what to tell you. Unless Nvidia has a sudden change of heart, they've been pretty clear about not supporting gaming with 3D Vision in XP.

Verni, do you still haunt this board? If so, I was curious what your thoughts on the FX 3800 were after few months of use. We're going to buy a couple of these to replace FX 3700s and I haven't seen much posted on these cards other than your own. Did you get the mini-DIN adapter or has all your use been with the emitter only. According to this thread, sounds like the mini-DIN can be hard to come by. Thanks for any info you might have.

Hey Lars!

We only use the IR Emitter with perfect stereo results (by perfect I mean the same as with geforce).

However, 3D Texture Visualization is much more slow than Geometry rendering (though I've heard that High End Quadros optimize in some way this). But if you want to upgrade, they work really well with both Vista and XP.

Thanks Verni, that what I was hoping! Two FX 3800s are in route. I've got another question for you (or anyone else running OpenGL apps with 3D Vision) - when closing your 3D app, do you ever experience PC lock-ups? This happens to me about 10% of the time. I close ArcGIS/StereoAnalyst and once OGL/3D is released and the screen blanks momentarily, I will lock up, requiring a hard boot. I'm still using the OpenGL driver (v 190.58) from the OGL Support page. I may update to the Quadro 191.66 driver and see if anything's different.

Xabi - any luck getting your apps back in stereo? Did you update to 191.66 or something else?

Yes it's ok, now but i was forced to keep only the quadro on my PC to get it work.
And i'm using the 191.78 !

But i still get a ghost, don't know why : http://img62.imageshack.us/img62/7413/stereop.jpg

Those cards can get very possessive of their computers and always happiest in monogamous relationships. /kiss.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

I tried the 191.78 driver when it first came out and saw ghosting as well. I went back the OpenGL 190.58 driver and the ghosting disappeared. As I recall, it got worse the closer you got to the top of the monitor. You could try uninstalling 191.78 and installing 190.58 to see if it makes a difference. You shouldn't need to do anything with the stereo driver since that's already in place. Good luck figuring that out!

What do you mean by OpenGL 190.58 ? Is it a normal nvidia quadro driver or something else. If you have it somewhere, i will be happy to test it.
Thanks.
