HDMI checkerboard on LG 55LW980W and 310.33 NVidia Beta drivers
WOW! Geeks great news! It's really working and even now I can run MOHW without any crash. The only big minus is some input lag for FPS games like CS - GO :( I can really feel the mouse input lag. It also creates some "motion blur" effect if you turn somewhere quickly. I also made some corrections in TV setup and corrected 3D - RIGHT/LEFT images in "Q-menu" and unfortunately I really have to say this that 3D effect is amazing. The 3D depth is even better than on 3D Vision 2 which I also had paired to my GTX 670 (used only for testing and compare which is better 3D to use - the 1080p with full framerates etc.. 3D Vision 2 gives much sharper picture on VG728H monitor) but still it will never beat the 55" home theatre gaming. Nevertheless a situation confuses me at the moment, so I have some questions below: - Is there a good guide how to set best setup for 3D FPR display to "boost" Checkerboard performance to meet the requirements that are set for core gamers of FPS games? - Will there be SBS available soon? - what is the point to have 3DTV Play add-on then? Does this lead to s new version of 3DTV play? Thank you in advance, //Thug

Hi, The only way your going to get no added input lag for 3d gaming is to use interleaved 3d for your 3d, checkerboard looks brilliant on a active set, on a active set you have no chioce but to live with 3d input lag, checkerboard vs interleaved on a passive though interleaved wins hands down ;) Good option tobe added but it adds lag to 3d gaming as you allready know.
- Will there be SBS available soon?
yes probably, since SBS is more common in TVs these days. but will SBS be much different than checkerboard in terms of picture quality ? i dont think so,according to my basic knowledge both SBS and CB (in case of 1920*1080) gives you 960*1080 per eye its just a different pattern, please anyone correct me if i am wrong.
- what is the point to have 3DTV Play add-on then? Does this lead to s new version of 3DTV play?
yes i think it will be a part of the 3DTV play add-on

Hey, Please enlight me folks. Are you guys saying that finally Andrew Fear has done what he has promissed us about 2 years ago? Do we now have Checkerboard mode available with 3DTV Play, is that right??? What new drivers have Ckeckerboard official support? I'm still using WHQL 306 drivers. So, how does it work, if I install this new beta driver that enables CB official support for HDMI 1.4 TVs, projectors and receivers, I can choose in the Nvidia control panel, frame packing mode 1080p24hz, 720p60hz or Checkerboard 1080p60hz (half resolution per eye)??? Is that so??? Can someone please take a pic of the Nvidia Control Panel with the new CB feature? I am really curious. Unfortunately I can't test this right now, cause my shitty Onkyo HDMI 1.4 receiver has burnt out 2 HDMI inputs and I'll neeed to get a new one, but this time it will be Denon or Yamaha as I'm done with Onkyo HTs and their bad HDMI ports. My Sammy Plasma 3DTV is to far away from my PC, so I can't connect a HDMI cable and try it out. But soon I'll have my new HT receiver and back to 3DTV Play for bluray3D playback and CheckerBoard for 1080p gaming in the big screen. Where's Rooler, I'm sure he'll be really happy with these news, as he's the one who's been asking Nvidia for CB support for quite some time? Finally Nvidia. Thank you so much!!!!! Nvidia devs and Andrew Fear, can you guys also give us back Generic CRT mode? My Samsung Plasma 3D TV also features frame sequential mode, I've always like to play some 3D games in 1080p30hz = 30fps. 30fps is enough for many games, I know some really require 40-60fps, but quite a few games run smooth at 30fps. Now we all know that 3DTV Play's 1080p24hz is lame and terrible for gaming, but I wound't say the same for Frame Sequentail 1080p30hz. Give us back Generic CRT mode, please!!!!! It has the same quality as 3DTV Play, full resolution per eye, but 30hz is way better than 24hz....

@francomg, where you see "Stereo 3D diplay type: 3DTV play" http://oi50.tinypic.com/14xgjo2.jpg Now it's a combo box where you can select: 1) 3DTV Play 2) HDMI Checkerboard if you select 2)....games start on Checkerboard mode (for me i have to select the CB mode in the TV to see 3D...its not auto like FP)

(samsung`s fault ofc, not Nvidia`s) i actually found 3DTV play 720p@60 has better picture quality at max AA enabled in dirt3 and just cause 2 :( but i am really grateful Nvidia that CB is available now , at least we have the option as it might be better than 3DTV play 720p in some action games. still adding option for Frame Sequentail 1080p30hz for full resolution per eye will be my favorite 3D mode if you ask me , since i mostly play only single player games in 3D and i can totally live with 30 FPS limit (but not 24 FPS of course). please every body lets us know what u think.

i totally agree with you on that

actually i was playing dirt 3 and just cause 2 in CB 1080p yesterday but i was really surprised that the picture quality was not that good ,

1-the picture is a little bit darker compared to 3DTV play
2-there are mode edges around most of the objects even with max AA enabled
3-input lag is a little bit higher than 3DTV play but not that higher to bother me playing

Guys, I am familiar with CB mode and I know it's not automatic, that you have to use the HDMI/DVi input in our Samsung 3DTV and also name the input source as PC, that's the only way our Samsung TV will unlock frame sequential mode, interleaved mode, checkerboard mode and another 3D format I don't recall, besides SBS, TB and shitty 2D-3D. I am also familiar that in Checkerboard or frame sequential mode we'll loose all the calibration that we have set in our TV, because it's PC mode, not video mode. Video mode only offers the common 3D modes, SBS, TB and shitty 2D-3D. I really hate 2D-3D conversion, sorry for my bad language, I wish TV manufacturers would get rid of the 2D-3D conversion feature, since it gives a bad reputation for 3D since many 3D noobies, think 3D is gimmick, because they have only seem a game or movie in a store using 2D-3D lousy conversion. You can make PC mode look good and have deep blacks, not as good as video mode. Just go into your Samsung TV image settings and set HDMI black levels to low, and you feel a big deal of difference. What drivers enables CB official support? Come one Samsung 3DTV owners, lets all ask for the back of Generic CRT mode, the best 3D mode for Samsung 3DTVs. I really missing playing games at 1080p30hz frame sequential mode using my Samsung Plasma PL63C7000 2010 TV.
