That was a little too fast yesterday! Just tried the fix on a track that seemed to have no issues with the sky and then posted the comment above. Today I played for 2 hours and unfortunately it seems the sky is still broken. Could it be that you have to turn off some effects also to make this fix really run well? For instance I had to completely disable motion blur which caused permanent jittering.

Some of the weirdest shhh... going on here, when they updated it looks like they dropped 2 Shaders(were 55 VS now there's 53 VS)... apparently they went back to using the same/old CRC as the original fix... Now it gets really weird, why didn't I notice the 'new' CRC wasn't working anymore? I had the old CRC renamed to '00CC87F6 - Copy.txt' and HelixMod was still using it!? I confirmed it by deleting everything in '00CC87F6 - Copy.txt' except for 'vs_3_0' and refreshing in-game and it disabled the skymap... odd. So just rename the Shaders back to '00CC87F6.txt' and you should be ok as far as the sky goes... the sun is still off, was never fixed... I messed around with it a bit but couldn't figure it out, still have yet to finish my classes. :) I disabled Motion Blur and Depth of Field, not a fan of any 'blurring' in 3D, so I didn't notice that jittering, reminds me a little of the text issue in Dead Space that cropped up in the Drivers.

With latest .zip I found sky totally ****** up and little else (smoke + nametags). Puttin original Helixmod files now I fixed sky but nametags are really annoying. Moreover there is also another problem... in "Helixmod" fix (not for extreme version) there is no x64 version of the shader. What to do then?

...all I did was update the CRC and copy/add the x64 files to the SkyBox fix by Mike and like I said in the quoted post, there was some really weird sh*t going on. Again, like I said in the quoted text just rename the single VertexShader to back to '00CC87F6.txt'... if I can figure some of the other things out and actually add to Mike's fix, I will update it, but until then it's just the original SkyBox fix.

I know it's a little late but I finally finished the video parts of Bo3b's School for ShaderHackers[thanks Bo3b! :)] and after a bit of tinkering I was able to fix the sun/glare that separates with Convergence... fortunately it was kind of a minor fix. There's something odd going on with that Shader though that's Driver related, happened to me with/without the Helix dll... in 2D it gradually fades in and then out a little when it comes into view and with 3D Vision enabled it just sort of 'pops' in. I'll try messing around with the other stuff later but I'll probably just be wasting my time... Mike already stated on the original fixes page about the issues, not to mention the fix relies on some stuff in the DX9Settings.ini that I'm not sure what they're doing yet.
Outstanding Issues There are some minor issues, that were worked on: 1. There is a slight fog/smoke issue, that was easy to track down and identify, but which can't be fixed with the latest DLL. It can be disabled using the debugger if anyone cares to. 2. HUD is at screen depth, including car name tags. I fixed this initially, but then found out that not all Hud elements displayed correctly at resolutions different to desktop. The fix involved compensating for a pre-shader that uses screen size, and I am guessing that is where the problem lies.
Honestly, I am perfectly fine with the game in its current state. :-)

If you add the StereoUseMatrix flag to the Profile it gets rid of the Haloing in the Dust, I added MysteryStereoSetting for good measure not sure if it's necessary or not...
Profile "Gas Guzzlers" ShowOn GeForce ProfileType Application Executable "gasguzzlers.exe" Setting ID_0x1033cec1 = 0x00000003 Setting ID_0x1033dcd2 = 0x00000004 Setting ID_0x1095def8 = 0x02400005 Setting ID_0x701eb457 = 0x2241ab21 InternalSettingFlag=V0 // MysteryStereoSetting Setting ID_0x70e34a78 = 0x1945b570 InternalSettingFlag=V0 // StereoUseMatrix EndProfile
...off to poke around in some HUD fixes. Lol. ;)

Just added both additional lines and the game looks even greater than before now! I really can't recommend this game enough to anyone who has only the slightest interest in the genre of car combat games!
