?? That video is 4 years old. I'm not so sure he ever got that thing working, either - the web page it points to just has pictures and no download link. I do hope Steam's new design has a lot of options. It's got a gear icon up there.

The very powerful and the very stupid have one thing in common. Instead of altering their views to fit the facts, they alter the facts to fit their views ... which can be very uncomfortable if you happen to be one of the facts that needs altering.
?? That video is 4 years old.
Oops, I took a quick look at youtube and it was one of the better videos I saw there, there were only a handful. I should have looked closer. So Thanks, I edited OP to direct people to the link, by adding some quotes from the article. I also now show that the video is a "fan concept" design Yah, this was an announcement by Steam at GTC this prior week. None of this is available yet and will first show up in Beta versions of Steam's client in the coming months. Better video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=60hlY4_nyXI
why ? what´s wrong with steam 1.0 ?
Ummm... Nothing? Everything? It would be nice to tweak things to give a UI experience custom tailored to the individual gamer. You game on a Dual Passive stereoscopic Projector setup. Do you use Big Picture mode? It makes it easier to see info on screen due to Steam's 10ft user interface, but this would be welcome in non Big Picture mode as well. I know some people like to bling up their profile pages with Badges, Screenshot Showcase, Avatars, Achievements, Backgrounds, etc.. But what is allowed via Steam's interface ecosystem is pretty limited. There are 3rd party alternatives for skinning Steam's client and other customizations available outside of Steam's ecosystem. But some of these are pretty sketchy. I'm hoping Steam opens up their ecosystem to allow way more customization, starting at least with some skinning options that could be available via Steam Workshop. As it is, the dull lifeless grey theme doesn't match my drapes or carpet :P

Little tip for Big Picture Users, if you do not already know To start Steam in Big Picture Mode add -tenfoot or -bigpicture (either one works) to the target line of your Steam shortcut or Settings > Interface > "Start Steam in Big Picture Mode" While in Big Picture Mode, you can also set it to Open in Windowed mode via Interface Of course, if you have Steam open, simply pushing the "Home" button on a XBox 360 remote will switch Steam into Big Picture mode https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rp1UMCzIXqs
