Another question..
3rd gen in the works, or something?
Couldn't I just get my old crt and make it 140 hz (I can get it to 180 before it whines really loud)
Then again I am not to thrilled about my 1024x786, nor the blurrieness a crt has vs an lcd.
So should I wait or pounce on the asus
And 1.3 iches is really not that much. Nothing to yes or no the monitor about.

You can also do full 1080p resolution with the ASUS monitor whereas the Viewsonic is limited to 1680x1050 resolution.

100 for an extra 30 pixle width?
No thanks, not really an issue imo.

With the full 1920x1080 resolution you can play 3D Blu-ray movies if you ever decide to put a Blu-ray drive in your PC. It would be a nice option to add to your system if you ever decided to go that route.

U can't downscale them the 30 pixels or over-scan it? (aka it cuts off top 15 and bottom 15)?
I think you would be able to but I'm leaning twards asus anyway because its a seccond generation 3dlcd etc.

We don't comment on hardware manufacturers unannounced products in general.
There are a lot of backend things that go on when NVIDIA 3D Vision is activated with 3D Vision certified monitors. This gives them a much better 3d experience than older CRT technology. CRT doesn't look as 3D as a 3D Vision monitor and you get less eye strain from a 3D Vision certified LCD monitor vs. CRT.

IMO it's a minimal difference I own the viewsonic and 3 acres and although it's true the second gen panels have less ghosting, it certainly isn't night and day.
The only reason I own the Acers is I couldn't buy 2 additional 2265's at the time.

Hmmmmm..... I'll take any less ghosting in a heartbeat. I need to return this viewsonic to fry's. Hopefully they let me return even though it's slightly past 30 days :P
This ASUS got really good reviews so far.
Do you know if 3D blu ray movies play at 120hz refresh rate?

In 3d mode I believe the monitor is locked to 60hz per eye, so in a sense you'll never get 120hz in 3d mode regardless. In terms of Blu Ray 3d, I think that more depends on the movie than monitor. For example, I remember a big fuss being made over 3d movies and them only planning 24hz per eye. But people were saying it wasnt enough and yadda yadda yadda. I don't know where that went and what kind of rates the 3d blu rays are offering.

Hm, I still think I'm getting a better experience using my Sony FW900 CRT over the current crop of LCD monitors. At least I have no top screen ghosting at all. If there were no ghosting issues I would agree LCD monitors having the edge, despite the relatively low quality of TN panels.
But unfortunately Nvidia doesn't want to give users advanced control over timing parameters, so too many users experience unadjustable ghosting problems, what can make 3D Vision somewhat unenjoyable. Perhaps you should think about changing this, USB and wireless are imo too unreliable to expect 100% identical functionality on each and every machine.
