Hello, I was getting into the 3d stuff a year ago or so and I decided to wait till I had more money and better monitors were out on the market. I re-looked the requirements for nvidia 3d vision but I did not notice anything mentioning the 9800GTX+ card. I have 2 in SLI and I want to use it with 3d vision. Is it not possible anymore?
Also I have been researching the monitors again and the benq seems to have the better reviews. Out of all the monitors, which is the best in your opinions as of right now? I'm on a budget of 500 dollars for the display and the 3d vision kit. Thanks.

Monitors wont work with those chips in SLI because whatever overrated resolution those have, but look: try a 720p projector for a few days. I can tell you, it'd work exceptionally well, arbitrary screen size, arbitrary choice of screen material, oh , and, DLP vs. LCD is like, = good amount of high quality asskicking despite 720p. You won't really notice 720p, because resolution is averaged between eyes, it looks as good as 2D 1080p.
You can pick up a rear projection TV for next to nothing, and use the 50"-60"-70" screen that comes with it. Its even better than the 3DTV-s at the shop. I wouldn't even settle for bust 3DTV-s / monitors.

What do you mean over rated resolution? It is pretty much the same as a GTS 250. If I have to I will sell the 2 cards and pickup a GTX 560 or higher.
I can't get a huge TV or a projector. I live in one small room. I'd like to but just can't.
Also I heard that DVI only supports 60hz but you need 120 hz for 3d vision. My cards have DVI slots on it. No HDMI. Is that what you mean or does that not make a difference?

You'll have to forgive tritosine. He's one of our "special" members here at the nvidia forums.
To answer your question, yes, the 9800 GTX+ will work in 3d vision, and SLI will help your performance. Problem is - your performance is still going to be low. You REALLY do not want to use higher than 1680x1050 resolution in 3d with a couple 9800s. Even 1680 will be absolute hell on those cards. As tritosine happened to say, some HDTVs will work at 720p, which will roughly double your performance over 1680x1050. Depends on how your room is setup, I guess.

lol agreed....tritosine lives in the future or something, the rest of us just make do with what we have available to us today.
9800GTX+ should work fine in 3D Vision unless Nvidia went back and specifically removed support for them in the drivers (doubtful). The first 3D Vision kits were largely reviewed on G92 hardware (9800GTX+). On Nvidia's spec page, they list the GTS 250 as "Fair". That GPU is equivalent or slightly slower than the 9800GTX+ depending on your OC. 2x9800GTX+ in SLI will give you roughly GTX 285 performance levels, which they rate as Excellent. As f3likx stated you may want to limit yourself to 720 or 1680x1050 resolutions in 3D Vision or be prepared to turn down settings significantly if you try to run 1080p (Medium or so).

That makes sense :) I don't mind playing at a lower rsolution. I usually game at 1280x720 anyways for the maximum framerate so it won't be a challenge for me to get used to.

720p 3D = GTS250 SLI, or GTX560
1080p 3D (overrated) = GTX560 SLI, or...
(overrated) = because decent monitors are MIA (missing in action)
-your room has a door right?
How about using the doorstep, imagine using a screen like this, (on a desk with wheels or whatever), & beam the light inside.

use it, and you can put it away.
