Sorry, I wasn't trying to be a jerk or anything there ... I was just trying to be funny, no offense intended at all. As soon as I read that you had bought a Radeon, I immediately thought of Stewie's decision to destroy his time machine ... and well you know ... the consequences! :)
Relax, it's okay, no problem at all, not at all...
Last I checked the Oculus Rift works on both nvidia and amd cards right? so why change the GPU?
Tridef also works on both GPUs no? (I know I used tridef on dx9 , onDX11 I dont have a monitor that support the output mode required)
It would be awesome that this month nvidia release 3d Vision support for openGL..which honestly I think would be the next logical thing to do.
Why?
1. All the SteamBoxes that I've seen so far have Nvidia GPUs
2. They all run on Linux (SteamOS is debian/ubuntu based)
3. Steam have ported some 3D Vision ready games to Linux : Trine2, Metro Last Light
4. It has been asked for ages:)) (some hacks, external libs exist but without official support is hard to make every opengl app use quadbuffering or even enable it, so far I was able to run glxgears in stereo, and code my own app with 3D Vision support)
5. 3DVision/3DTV Play + Steam Box would be a BIG advantage over the console competition etc
Maybe is wishful thinking, but If you are market oriented you can simply see this huge opportunity here...
My main interest in a Steambox with AMD hardware is to save costs on having a 2nd PC, and Star Citizen is being developed to use Mantle, and I fully intend to play using the Oculus Rift which will need all the possible GPU power you can throw at it to keep a steady 60fps per eye. AMD cards are usually good value for money even if their drivers are sometimes not the best.
At least the Oculus doesn't tie me to NVidia GPU's only so I'll be happy to have a choice again, as my main PC will always require NVidia hardware as long as I still want to game in 3D on a monitor.
I guess we will just have to wait and see what the future brings.

So the Nvidia conference just finished, absolutely nothing 3d related sigh

The odds of Nvidia CEO/Co-founder revealing anything 3D related are slim to none lol. These are $XX,XXX,XXX products/deals that are announced. Not that I think/know they will show anything prototype/product related on show room floor. I was wishful thinking for a more updated version of the hmd they've shown but its only been like 4 months.
If its not hardware related news, then hopefully its software. Which is probably better off. Not that it matters since most of us have no expectations and know 3D vision has been community based for last 2 years [though many of us have forgotten].

No, we were told something in mid january. I guessed it was CES related. Which it *may* still be.

Not that I have a lot of faith of whatever the announcement is.
