Would it be possible to add lightboost technology via a firmware update for the Acer HN274H?
As much as I would like the latest tech I already dropped over $500 for this monitor and can't upgrade it for quite a while.

wait, am i correct in assuming these new glasses will be compatible with existing USB IR transmitters? I hope i can just get a pair of glasses for 100 instead of having to replace my whole kit for 150.

Any one found a link with a better close up picture of the new glasses?

The entire write-up at Anandtech is worth a read as it explains how Lightboost works to the extent Nvidia was willing to reveal: http://www.anandtech.com/show/4966/nvidia-announces-3d-vision-2-and-3d-lightboost-technology
The author saw both the glasses and new Asus display in action at GeForce Lan 6 and had some very positive comments overall. He claims environmental light is now subjectively on par with passive polarized glasses. He also answered and took a few questions in the comments section for those who may have more specific questions.

I think I'll just get them because they seem nowhere as dark to begin with as the original 3D Vision glasses.
I'm just pissed I bought this VG236H almost a year ago today and the new VG278H just comes out. Although since the glasses are obviously not nearly as dark altogether I don't see how LightBoost makes much of a difference. Without looking into it, it just sounds like its getting ever so closer to that threshold when brightness is too much.

This is sounding MIGHTY sweet! Flashing the monitor along with the glasses... clever! I like the sound of 27", too.
Pity I just bought this 3D stuff last year. Ah well, I'll let you folks kappa test the technology for a while.
P.S. Good to know that the super LAN party wasn't just a booth babe thing.

Thanks
They look cool but I hope they do wear cool too.
The new glasses are backward compatible for current IR transmitter.
