I still want to use my 3D Vision! Can I install the 3D Vision driver separately?

I mean these cards support Windows 7 officially minus some DX12 exclusive features. This also applies to any other GPU, so RTX is not an exception here.

Thanks harisukro for finding this out and Zig for testing. That’s great news.. hope it will stay stable with future drivers. I think it’s time for making my rig dual boot. No escape from that.

I would have to say 3D Vision has been included with drivers for at least 7 years and all of sudden the RTX comes out and a few months later 3D Vision driver is dropped from the driver package and yet PhysX is hardly ever used but still included.

I'm lucky in that I've now got a 'tri-boot' system with Windows 7 and 2 copies of Windows 10. On other threads here it had been commented that other 3d functionality had been removed from the base driver, so maybe that only applies to Windows 10? One thing that surprised me was that for my fresh W10 install it came up as digitally activated and I didn't even have to buy an extra license. It could be because mine was a retail copy, I don't know.

Thanks Zig, no I haven't, my primary drive is a 512GB SSD and it has enough room for all so far. I've used a few tools to repartition etc. Minitool partition wizard is really good for resizing etc + it's free. I'm using Acronis for partition backups although there are pros and cons to all the solutions.

SO now it looks like I have to get a Windows 7 copy to install on my system for dual boot. Fucking perfect. I love Windows 10 and the stuff it has but now you're telling me because of t3D vision I need to go buy an expensive Windows 7 OS copy to boot if I want to keep 3D vision with newer driver versions? to see if it's worth it, is this method supposed to work for future driver updates or just up to 430?

You can install Win7 from an ISO image and when it asks for license choose the skip option. Best choice is likely x64 Win7 Pro. You can run that version for 30 days before it will nag you to authorize the computer. You can run this way indefinitely. The only real drawback is that it will say "this OS is not activated" whenever it looks for updates. But of course, soon there aren't going to be any updates. I've run a rarely used machine this way for years. It's part of how Microsoft manages licenses.
