91.31 Problem- HELP!
Okay, here's what's up: Installed both new driver sets- when I enable stereo, my machine IMMEDIATELY reboots.

Any ideas? I'd hate to have to go back to the old drivers...

specs:

P4 3200 HT
GEForce 6800 GT
2.5 gigs DDR

Try to correctly reinstall detonator and stereo driver. And be sure that you use the same version of detonator (91.31) and stereo driver (91.31). My PC works properly with new stereodriver.

Going from 6800GT (driver: 78.01/78.01) to 7800GS+ (driver: 91.31/91.31) I have had problems.

I also experienced reboots/no 3D when using the medical pic and the test application.
But I found a way to so far get Aquamark3, Battlefield 2 and 3Dmark03 Demo and others to work in 3D on my AMD Athlon64 with Gainward 7800GS+ AGP:
1. disconnect from net.
2. disable antivirus
3. uninstall current video driver (remove Nvidia from add/remove programs in controlpanel).
4. reboot
5. as the reboot comes, after the quick memory test/HD recognition, hit F8 and enter safe mode.
6. Win XP safe mode will autodetect new hardward and ask to install driver. Cansel.
7. run Driver Cleaner Pro (www.drivercleaner.net) with filter for Nvidia.
8. quit and repeat step 4 and 5.
9. install new video driver 91.31 (not 3D).
10. reboot.
11. start antivirus and connect to net (reboot if nessesary). This is the best way to completely remove an old driver and install a new.
12. install DirectX (I used directx_9c_redist which is rather old...).
13. install overclock tool Coolbits (www.laptopvideo2go.com/nvtweak) (not needed unless OCing).
14. reboot.
15. install Nvidia stereo/3D driver 91.31.
16. reboot.
17. install monitor driver.
18. adjust and set screen and games to 1024*768.
19. the new card has 512Mb RAM so I changed the Aperature Size in bios to edit: 128Mb. The aperature size should be reduced when the GPU RAM size is increased. Saved and rebooted.
20. in Nvidia controlpanel - performance & quality settings - advanced settings turn Ver Sync off (I allways do). I used standard overclock.
21. in Nvidia controlpanel: choose: 3D/stereo enable, apply, medical test, yes.
22. launch test application
23. change monitor size to 19" and resolution to 1024*768.
24. launch test application.
25. click save settings. click ok
All this should work without crash/reboot.

26. I launch either Aquamark3 or Battlefield 2 and adjust separation (f3+f4) and convergence (f5+f6), then hit f7 to save setting and everything is in 3D with good fps (FramesPerSecond). :P

A. Initially i had low fps in BF2, crashes/reboots but now I can restart Win and play in 3D.
B. The ground and shadow in BF2 looked better with 6800GT and (78.01/78.01) in some shadowed places I think.
C. The Aquamark score is lower(!?) in 3D with 7800GS+ than with 6800GT but BF2 definitively runs faster (approx. 50-60%).
D. I will update this post because it was my desperate late night attempt to get my new 7800GS+ and the (91.31/91.31) to work. I was very happy with the 6800GT and (78.01/78.01) I had before.
E. The M16 gunsight in BF2 can be usable aiming at the ground (not showning double) this way: set separation to 4%, when in game stand 5m from pillar and remove ghosting with F5/F6. Done. I know, 4% is not a lot. Go get killed by a n00b. >.<
F. Sometimes I get very low fps in game (BF2), Alt-Tab to Win and back in game solves this.
