H5360 warning message - annoying...
  1 / 2
Hi everyone,

to all Acer H5360 owners, is there a way to tell the projector to NOT display the warning message that states that your projector is now in "3D Mode". This small warning message stays there for probably 10 seconds which interferes with the beginning of anything 3D.

Any ideas on how to disable that?

Thanks!

???

Then what is the difference between 3D mode and non-3D mode ? (of course there is also DLP...)

The annoying message ;) It works perfectly without the 3d mode turned on.

3d mode turns on or off the TI DLP link enabled 3D, for if you are using DLP link shutter glasses like the Xpand X102s.

Mine does have the 3D Vision setting - and I hate the message that comes up.

My impression was that this setting was intended for 3D Vision as a color/settings profile to compensate for the glasses. Yes it seems to work fine without it, but I thought maybe they were bumping the brightness/gamma/whatever. But even if they are, the message is annoying enough not to use the setting.

I'll do some experiments with my color meter and see if it really does change anything.

I find that message extremely annoying myself. Unfortunately I suspect (but don't know) that it would require a firmware change. At least it would be nice if we could get the message to last only a second or two.

I'm hoping someone else can come up with a non-firmware answer.

Message sucks. what prat thought it would be a good idea to smack a massive boxed message right in centre of screen, and then decide to make it stay on the screen for ages just incase your not capable of reading more than one letter at a time :-(

u wud think Acer had enough common sense to use a tiny bit of text next to the input selector info top right for 2 seconds would be fine

I regards to 3d mode, I definitely get a change in colour/contrast and more importantly im guessing brightness - with zero knowledge im guessing that 3d mode is brighter but more taxing on the bulb and thus making bulbs life shorter (hence the warning) (or am i chatting crap?)

Question:
======

If I ramp up the brightness/contrast with the 5360's color menu, will that effect the bulb life?

I don't know any more than you about the effect of the white flashing on bulb brightness, but suspect there wouldn't be any. I would think that the white code is accomplished by reorientation of the micro-mirrors of the DLP chip, rather than any variation in bulb brightness.

LOL, its just the marketing guys forget to tell us that in 3d mode, the contrast drops from 2600 to 1000, and brightness from 2100 to 750. Oh well contrast was over 3000 according to them : DDD.

I am now getting a screen thats 10x brigher than a matte screen, and Im going to turn excess lightning into better blacks and contrast. Wish me luck . The next project will be even more crazy :>

Over all I still think that the H5360 is a good projector, but it definitely has some design/implementation flaws. The warning message for one and it's a big one. I increased the contrast to 60 and it looks good in a darkened room and still usable in a dimly lighted room. I'm thinking of using a lighter paint. I've been using a light gray primer, and it's worked well with my other projector (Optoma HD81). The only reason I got the H5360 is for 3D.

The message wouldn't be so bad if I were only using the nVidia glasses, but I also have a pair of DLP Link glasses. As it is, they sometimes sync backwards (with the same videos). Is there a way to re-sync without going out of full-screen mode? That's somewhat of a pain. As far as I can tell, none of the remote works when the H5360 is in full-screen 3D mode.

Well when I bought this pj, I calculated like 3times that it will be brighter than a led pj. Now it isnt.
