The biggest problem in gaming nowadays is the number of cores a game is designed to use. In 2D, if you are getting ~55% CPU usage in games then it only means that those specific games are only designed to use 3 threads so can only utilise 3 cores on your 6 core CPU with HT off.
What you are talking about in your post in the information gathering thread (that thread is for information gathering - let's keep all discussions here :)) is core parking. Windows does use all cores, but not efficiently. Unparking cores helps some games tremendously.

It's quite obvious now that they'll never take the 720/60 1080/24 limit off without releasing a new 3D vision 2 product that they'll probably charge for.
Nvidias staff, years ago, on these forums, said they would take the limit off when it was worthwhile......here we are years later, and still nothing.
assuming that bo3b did mention this to the 3D team makes me realise someone MUST be blocking them from doing it higher up.

Thanks for that info. I'm having problems getting a high enough frame rate in Euro Truck Simulator 2 in cities in stereoscopic. This is partly to do with the old dx9 engine and compounded by 3d. I've noticed people with faster cards than my gtx 1060 are having problems. As its a game that's single thread dominated I'm going to try a faster cpu o'clocked to see if it improves things. By the look of your results it seems more likely to improve fps than a faster gpu.

Yes, I love the LG passive glasses! I had sony active glasses and they were too heavy, not comfortable and the active technology did kind of stress my eyes a bit, the passive ones I don't feel any stress in my eyes at all.
But, I think it would not bother me too much to use a VR headset to play in 3D, coz if you play seated and don't need to move your head to look straight to a big screen, you can loose the straps so won't be any pressure of the headset in your face and should be very comfortable to play long hours.
If we could have a high resolution like the Pimax, the fact that won't be any crosstalk and you can have a huge screen like in a cinema/projector and adjust the size and distance is very interesting.
If I was the CEO of one of these headset makers, like Pimax, Oculus, Vive etc, I would certainly schedule a meeting with the nvidia guys to discuss some opportunities to invest in 3D Vision and partner. I don't think it would be that hard for them to develop a more polished solution for VR that take advantage of the fixes in a more easy and professional way for end users providing a huge library of 3D Vision games to play in their VR headset.

Yeah. I was thinking to buy VorpX, but I've seen some bad comments about it, also some good, so there is a bit of a mix. I will do a bit more research, it seems they have a few games that support real 3D that might be interesting.
At the moment I have way too many games to play in VR, cannot keep up with them, so I would probably not play any other that do not have native VR/tracking support.

Im at the same point and its very frustrating after playing GTAV in almost max eye candy in VR using Tirdef VR these past two months
I just fired 1440p DSR 3D Vision back up and its totally beautiful and trumps VR image quality wise.
So yes its a compromise between eye candy and performance until 3D Vision is fixed.
We are pretty much tormented and hellbent on throwing more hardware firepower at this 3D Vision issue.

By the way, I stop gaming 3D when I have something important in my job, just to prevent tireness, and I think it is produced because os the flickering of the glasses when playing for some hours. It is not very noticeable in the moment that I play, but I notice that the following day, when I get tired before than usual in my normal day activity. Maybe pasive glasses would not produce this tireness, I have not tried it.

Yeah. I was thinking to buy VorpX, but I've seen some bad comments about it, also some good, so there is a bit of a mix. I will do a bit more research, it seems they have a few games that support real 3D that might be interesting.
At the moment I have way too many games to play in VR, cannot keep up with them, so I would probably not play any other that do not have native VR/tracking support.

Im at the same point and its very frustrating after playing GTAV in almost max eye candy in VR using Tirdef VR these past two months
I just fired 1440p DSR 3D Vision back up and its totally beautiful and trumps VR image quality wise.
So yes its a compromise between eye candy and performance until 3D Vision is fixed.
We are pretty much tormented and hellbent on throwing more hardware firepower at this 3D Vision issue.
Chasing that golden 7-12 FPS headroom of the obvious 3D Vision bottleneck
