Request: Quick 3DVision enable/disable
  1 / 2
Does anyone out there have a good way to provide a really quick 3D Vision enable/disable button?

Now that I have a lightboost monitor I find when I go to play something in 2D (say DOTA2) the lightboost kicks in and washes out the picture compared to leaving the monitor in a standard picture mode. As a result I have been turning 3Dvision on and off in the control panel depending on the game I play.

Though it's not all that many clicks it would be nice to have a desktop level menu setting or perhaps a tray icon to flip this in one click.

Are there registry flags or windows services that correspond to the official enable/disable button?

You can use the desktop icons, you can get to them by going Start > All Programs > Nvidia Corportation > Enable/Disable 3D Vision.

Drag them to desktop to create a shortcut.

Mine are also in my start menu programs folder, which pin to my start menu and make shortcuts in a quick launch folder in the taskbar. I can't stand icons covering a beautiful desktop background.

Use this in a .reg file. It's more convenient than constantly using the main off/on toggle icons: (64-bit windows code only)
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\NVIDIA Corporation\Global\Stereo3D] "StereoDefaultOn"=dword:00000000
Hi Shinra, Thank you for the advice. I am unsure of what you mean. My intention is to be able to turn 3D on and off depending on what game I am running. For example I would like to turn off 3D while playing Starcraft and not have the image be all washed out due to lightboost. Then I would like to turn it on while playing Tomb Raider or Crysis 3. In windows 7 I simply double clicked on the on or off icon that I put on my task bar before launching the game. Now I cannot seem to find the on/off switch. I have tried searching for the toggle icons in windows explore and the /nvidia folder but I am at a loss. I also cant find it in the programs list like they were in Windows 7. I appreciate the help and suggestions. Dan.

Yea Ctrl T keeps Lightboost on, nothing you can do about that. The icons should be somewhere in some Nvidia folder, the icons for them are anaglyph glasses. I'll see if I can find them.

That way is easier without having to always toggle something before you start your game. Then all you will have to do is press ctrl+t only like all the users said before me.

Sorry, wasn't aware of that. There's the shortcuts to enable/disable in the start menu. You could save this as 3DPrompt.bat and run it:
@ECHO OFF ECHO. :ASK set /p answer=[E]NABLE or [D]ISABLE 3D VISION? if /i "%answer%"=="E" GOTO ENABLE3D if /i "%answer%"=="D" GOTO DISABLE3D GOTO ASK :ENABLE3D "C:\Program Files (x86)\NVIDIA Corporation\3D Vision\nvstlink.exe" /enable GOTO END :DISABLE3D "C:\Program Files (x86)\NVIDIA Corporation\3D Vision\nvstlink.exe" /disable GOTO END :END EXIT
Or these as Enable3D.bat
"C:\Program Files (x86)\NVIDIA Corporation\3D Vision\nvstlink.exe" /enable
and Disable3D.bat
"C:\Program Files (x86)\NVIDIA Corporation\3D Vision\nvstlink.exe" /disable
For that matter you could create a bat file that disables 3D, runs the game and then enables 3D when the game exits ...
"C:\Program Files (x86)\NVIDIA Corporation\3D Vision\nvstlink.exe" /disable "C:\path\to\game.exe" "C:\Program Files (x86)\NVIDIA Corporation\3D Vision\nvstlink.exe" /enable
type enable 3D vision or disable 3D vision in your start menu. @TsaebehT: they have those 'bats' included already now as shortcuts in the start menu. edit: oops, you said windows 8 xD
