Can the "NVIDIA 3D Vision picture viewer" add a "DELETE" function?
For the built-in NVIDIA 3D Vision picture viewer, I can view the 3D picture and use left/right button to browse through it. But is there any way to add "DELETE" function as well? After I took some gaming screenshots, some of them are not as good as I expected and I want to delete. By now I need to switch to Windows Explorer in order to do so. It is not very convenient. And actually, NVIDIA should add a Windows Explorer extension to create 3D photo file thumbnails. I saw there was a program called "3DImageThumbnails_x64_Setup.exe" but the website of the creator has down. https://www.google.com.hk/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=1&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0CBoQFjAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.mtbs3d.com%2Fphpbb%2Fviewtopic.php%3Ff%3D3%26t%3D14969&ei=iP_iU7fwIJDh8AXD34GwDg&usg=AFQjCNHdO2eWGLUrWrJBJPDbiBUzUzW8ig&sig2=rd2FKDvBcV0gJRvHRyQ7Aw&bvm=bv.72676100,d.dGc

nVidia aren't really adding much in the way of new features. It would be nice, but don't hold your breath.

Not only is there no "Delete" function, but it does not even display the bloody name of the file you're viewing. That would at least allow me to write down what files I want to delete. It really is a barely functional software. What I'd like to know, and I think I've previously asked on these forums with no luck, is whether there are other programs doing this better.

Phereoshop. It only imports screenshots and organizes them. You can't delete the actual file from your system (unless they've updated this), but if you don't care if the screenshot stays on your hard drive, it makes organizing the good ones into albums much easier. You can browse albums using the arrow keys AND delete a screenshot (from the album) by pressing the Delete key.

It's far from perfect, I haven't worked on it much just the one major rewrite after I learned more, but it works better than nothing ... :) https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/540326/3d-vision/finally-an-easier-way-to-deal-with-3d-screenshots-/ It's been awhile since I looked into it ... if I can find a way to get the filename while using the viewer I may be able to 'map' the delete key to delete it, I'll look into it again when I get a chance ... kind of swamped right now.

In my experience, the only way to know what file you're looking at in that crappy Nvidia viewer is to right click and select properties, if I remember correctly. It will show the file path somewhere, but of course you have to scroll all the way to the right I think, just to see the file name, and of course, you need to first exit the full screen (I always set my PC to only trigger 3D Vision when full screen programs run) It's such a hassle in general, that I'm always procrastinating with my screenshot filing, with many game folders containing bad pictures.

I think I've got one a lot better for you. Use StereoPhotoMaker. http://stereo.jpn.org/eng/stphmkr/ You can cycle through photos just like the NVidia player, using Space and Backspace. Or, mouse clicks in left/right edge. You can use the Delete key, for reals, and delete files you don't want. You can show it in any form you like, like side-by-side if it's inconvenient to fire up 3D Vision. It shows the file name in the title bar, like you want. Set the .jps extension to only open with StereoPhotoMaker. Done! Yes? (Thanks for reminding me to do this, it's sooo much better.)

Hi Bo3b, I tried this program but I cannot make it go stereo, what must I use for 3D Vision on an ASUS screen without side-by-side capabilities? (btw, the Nvidia Photo Viewer advances to next photo with the right arrow key, not space or backspace)

Should be able to use F8, Stereo menu->Page flip for shutter glasses. Goes full screen.

Yeah, that's what I tried. Goes full screen, but displays the image side by side. 3D does not trigger. Probably this application is not compatible with 3D vision.

The only problem I had was that I have to swap eyes using the x key when in 3D Vision. Look at the Stereo->Page-flip setup menu, and see what it's set to.

I got it to work. Indeed the Page-flip was set to Nvidia WinXP, had to set it up to 3D Vision. But, the eye flip must be done at every launch, and also the viewing method, even if I set it up in Preferences as Page flip, must be done everytime, to view an image. And it only launches in full screen mode, where still there is no indication of the image you're viewing and the Delete key does not work. There's definitely no pleasing us, PC gamers and discerning consumers, LOL !

Ahh that got it working! It was on NVIDIA WinXP by default, changed it to 3D Vision ... if anyone is interested I was able to come up with an AutoHotKey script that binds the Delete key to get the filename and delete it, I spent the past few hrs googlinh why FileRecycle wasn't working. Apparently FileRecycle/FileDelete won't work on a variable ... so I had to use comspec(cmd) to delete the file instead. Anyway here it is ... now sleep. Lol. :) Save as 3DVisionDel.ahk(need AutoHotKey installed to run):
#SingleInstance force SetTitleMatchMode, 2 DetectHiddenText, On #IfWinActive, NVIDIA 3D Vision Photo Viewer { Del:: WinGetText, Image, NVIDIA 3D Vision Photo Viewer Loop, Parse, Image, `n, { if %A_LoopField% { Image = %A_LoopField% }} Run, %comspec% /C Del "%Image%", , Min Sleep, 99 Send {Right} Return }
edit: 15 friggin second Ninjas!!! Lol. ;)

Menu: Edit->Preferences->Launch You can set JPS association, set stereo view method to default to Page-Flip, and set SwapEye by default.

Delete is missing. I sent email to developer as a request. If you have two monitors, the workaround is put the StereoPhotomaker on your non-3D Vision monitor, and you can at least see the file name. And I expect that Tsaebeht's script there will work just fine as well. Still better than that NVidia thing. ;-0
