each combination of keys or drivers i use hangs up the system completely.
I have a e8400 with gigabyte ga-ep35-ds4 and nvidia 7900 GTO 512 system.
Before it was working with a different mainboard and cpu (amd and asus).
what is the reason of this?
Anybody got the same or a good idea?
I have to mention that the 3d is working but the togglefunction makes it hang up 100%!
What drivers are you using, what OS and what games are you testing? Its hard to say without knowing more. I've had lockups like that before on an 6800GT but I cannot remember the exact fix. I think I just keep uninstalling and re-installing drivers until it worked. In fact, I still get lockups sometimes with stereo3d videos, but games work fine.

You have to make sure you clean your registry properly everytime you install new drivers. Using a program such as driver clean pro solved my problem with this issue. It takes 5 reboots each time, six if you count the time when it freezes.
1. erase old drivers, reboot in safe mode
2. run driver clean pro, reboot (make sure no old driver folders are in the nvidia folder)
3. install forceware, reboot
4. install stereo drivers, reboot
Someone recommended to install stereo drivers twice, so
5. install stereo drivers, reboot
Try launching test application, if it works, great, if not
6. reboot manually, since the computer doesnt respond at this point.
The drivers that worked for me are 163.71 forceware and 162.50 stereoscopic. After I did it in this sequence, the test application launched without problems, and I was able to see in 3d.

I've had this very annoying problem but can only offer a work-around other than reinstalling/downgrading drivers. The admittedly lame answer is to never use the toggle. Change the setting to "On" instead of "On with toggle" then when you start the game, stereo is already on hopefully. If it's not, try Alt-Tabbing to the desktop, then when you Alt-Tab back to the game, it might be on then. Also I have a racing game that insists on being in non-stereo for the first race, then I'll quit that race once it starts and it will be in stereo-3d after that. I'm guessing it's some kind of initialization problem. Also another game doesn't go into stereo-3d mode untill I use the increase/decrease separation keys. Try all of these things and see if you can get some satisfaction and good luck.

Use nHancer to disable the multi-core support of the nv-driver.
It´s realy funny with multi-core. Most of my games are running with multi-core support, but i have to activate vsync in driver. Just some are working with multi-core and without vsync.
Actually i´ve just one game (live for speed), on which i have to deactivate multi-core...
