Portal Stories: Mel, FREE
  1 / 2
This is a free download on Steam. It's a standalone Portal 2 total conversion which has been getting great reviews. http://store.steampowered.com/app/317400/ I know some of us are huge portal fans so thought I'd point this out. I haven't tried it yet but if I remember correctly, Portal 2 was quite easy to fix for 3D vision.

there was very little to fix in portal 2, sometimes the portals would glitch out a little bit and some windows are problematic but otherwise everything looked fantastic, the cursor works. this has lots of potential, thanks for the tip

Nobody ever found a fix for the crosshair in portal 2 it seems. The crosshair used to render in 3d at the correct depth. Sometime after one of the Portal 2 patches it became 2d. Any way to fix this besides disabling the crosshair and using the 3dvision one?

Portal 2 was one game I couldn't play for long in 3D. It wasn't because of the 3D itself, it was because of the field of view warping. When a game's FoV is set high, items near the edges of the screen appear closer than they really should. Throw stereoscopic 3D on top of that and the effect is even worse because they REALLY look closer. I would get queasy inside of 10 minutes trying to play this game.

The very powerful and the very stupid have one thing in common. Instead of altering their views to fit the facts, they alter the facts to fit their views ... which can be very uncomfortable if you happen to be one of the facts that needs altering.

Holy shit. They broke the crosshair. Fucking incompetents. One of my favourite games. Utterly unbelievable. Just requested an epic 4 year later refund, looking forward to see what they reply.

Must be something to do with the source engine

I am always grateful for the polish in valve games. Have you guys tried adjusting the FOV in-game / in the config files to a lower setting so that when it auto changes, it's not so bad? There is also a related setting for edges of the screen called "frustum adjust" in the 3D vision driver, controlled via ctl + F11. One of the 3 cycle settings decreases FOV.

it doesn't really adjust the FOV in-game, rather it chops off the edges and stretches out the image to fill the gaps it's a good solution for those games where pushing the depth causes you to see objects pop up at the sides or clipping at the expense of some ratio distortion
