BIOSHOCK 2- In game option for 3d Vision!
What is nVidia's fault is saying that this game was going to be great in 3d and they had been working closely with 2k, and then having it be obvious that absolutely nothing has been done to make the game 3d compatible. Hell, you can't even disable the crosshair... that is one of the easiest fixes to make. Something very similar happened with Borderlands as well.

I don't mind that it doesn't work very well. What I don't like is expecting it to due to nV's words and then being disappointed. I bought the game much earlier than I would have.
Please dont say that, I thought it was cool for Nvidia to speak up and say they've been working closely with 2k to bring the goods. Dev's dont always speak up and keep to themselves /teehee.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':teehee:' />
They werent lying though ... they have worked closely with 2k but they never once put out a date did they? they never said when it was going to happen. The patch is basicly done, its up to 2k. Your also using borderlands as an example and that took a couple of patches to get it right.

Truth be told they never SOLD bioshock 2 as a 3d ready product, didnt they just mention it in some magazine and then on their website waaay on the bottom. It isnt even on the front like the Resident Evil 5 boxart

I really do think your upset and making a rant man. We all are upset but we we got to calm down. Dark voids profile didnt come out until 3 or 4 days after the release date. Its gonna happen... just not when you want it... and the world doesent revolve around you =D

no offence though dude... I'm also upset and ranting to myself ^___^

I dunno, trying to speak objectively here but I think the fact of the matter
is most users who dished out $$ for the game now feel ripped off we
can't play it in 3d properly. It's just salt in the wound when they advertise
it as 3d ready when clearly, it's not. It's awesome they are working
on a patch to address both the 3d issues and the wide screen issues.
Thankfully it's early in the week so there's a chance it may be here
before the weekend ?!

(I'm currently downloading the game through Steam, but debating
playing it until a patch comes.. either from the developer, or Nvidia..)

LOL.. the worst part is, 2k had the exact same wide screen issue
with Bioshock 1.. you think they would have come prepared this time..

damnit!! Both Bioshock 2 AND mass effect 2 are in '3d pending' department....

One would hope, with any luck, that as the year progresses more people will jump onboard with 3d, and it will pull more developer 'weight', and we will see this lack of support and communication improve...

Im not gonna give up 3d because of bad customer service and support, not by a long shot... My days of flat world are over.

You guys seem to forget that bioshock is a noob friendly console game - nobody on the dev team is gonna care about a port. They used our (the hardcore losers) fanboyism towards system shock to convince the noobs to be all up in bioshocks business, and it worked. Good business decision on their part.

hence the porthole field of view

hence the 30fps animations and physics (at least in the first game)

steaming textures which are low res just to add insult to injury

no fsaa support

list goes on

The worst part is that I'm half way through Mass Effect. I've been playing it with 3D on but it is far from perfect. This sucks. I want perfect 3D for all my games ala Batman AA.

I must say I was expecting more since they delayed the launch.... shame pc games are so crappy now but all in all I am enjoying the game like the first one, just ticked that it still feels like they did the same horrid console port...
"im confused. At least you guys get some sort of 3D with this, even if it's faulty. For me, I enabled the Stereo 3D button in the menu, but I get nothing. Flat 2D. The emitter doesn't even turn on on game launch. and when I press CRTL+T to toglle 3D, the engine freezes for a split second, on the bottom right the Nvidia 'no profile for this game' flashes up and then it returns to 2D. What gives?"

This is exactly the problem I am having. This is unacceptable for a game to be marketed as 3d ready. In fact it is probably a breach of the saole of goods act
Try ALT-Tabbing the game or restarting it a couple of times, that what works for me in most cases. Still, never had this problem with any previous game, even those rated as 'poor' by nVidia. After all, this game was meant to really spread its wings in 3d. What a disappointment...

I am very disappointed hearing this news so I am going to hold off playing this game for a while. I picked up a copy of Timeshift for $10 so that will be my next 3D game now that I am done with Mass Effect 2. I always have some new Oblivion mods to play also in the meantime.

I will patiently await a patch ,just like I had to for the original ,but should I really have to ? Had I known 3D would not work properly out of the box I ,like many others ,would have held off on my purchase for awhile.
I think the key problem is that 3D Vision is Nvidia's product, and only they really benefit from its adoption right now. What incentive does a developer have to put a lot of effort into supporting it until it's widely adopted? They really have no incentive to see it become widely adopted either, it's just another thing for them to have to worry about compatibility with.

It's primarily in Nvidia's interest, and therefore up to them, to make this thing work in the early adopter phases before the product has enough momentum to demand support on its own. Without that, it will never leave the early adopter phase and fade into irrelevancy like most of the other 3-D products before it. Eventually 3-D's time will come, is this that time? It's looking pretty questionable.
I can think of at least one example to demonstrate the benefit for developers to adopt full NVidia 3d support... me! /no.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

3D Vision is such a great product that I now cannot (read: will not) play any games without it. I only look for games that work well in 3D.

I'm sure I'm not the only one.

It was right cheeky of them actually. I did the same..... I learnt it was 3d ready and was instantly sold, drove straight out and picked up my copy...

That behaviour by the industry is tolerated, where as I'm sure it breaches sooo many consumers rights..... (sigh).
I was dissapointed also with this game at first in 3d. lots of ghosting. playing around with the convergence fixed the ghosting and the game looks great at 100 percent depth. hopefully the patch happens soon.
I can't seem to get the in game keys to work. This is the first time I have tried and I haven't adjusted convergence before.

I have activated the shortcut keys in the NVidia control panel.

Should I notice changes when I press them in game?

Cheers
