I doubt it. It's just not in their financial interest. They know their best recourse is to just make Steam so financially appealing, that developers can't resist publishing on Steam. There's zero chance they'll be selling Portal 3 (or any of the 3s) on the Facebook DD VR service, but they're not stupid. They'll also support the actual Oculus headset for their games.

Well actually it has begun. Valve already is working on exclusivity by having developers build around only using its VR controller. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UTo0HYmkQa4#t=27 Shortly after posting.... Oculus announced exclusive Oculus developed game by John Carmack I was actually playing Rage just last week and felt man this still holds up extremely well and was wondering if Carmack will make another game. I understand graphics don't make the game but damn...Thats some Deus Ex 1 level graphics. Also eww at crosshair on VR game. Use gun sights or laser sight... seriously.

And I can only do fairly small images. Anything bigger than these forum side-by-sides, and it's too big for me. With cross eye, I can do much larger images and see them nearly instantly.

I've never in my life been able to properly see one of those cross-eyed 3D images. I always see those double images you guys post and just scratch my head. I think it's related to how I could never see those Magic Eye things in the 90s either.
Source 2 is a completely different topic. Steam VR and Source 2 are completely separate. I think he was just saying, 0 percent royalties (and no restrictions) is superior to Unity or UE4.
Surely no sensible dev would be too phased by royalties. It's just one of many normal costs in making a game, along with all the other software (graphics/audio/video/social-media/productivity etc.) they're going to be paying for, not to mention the large commission Valve takes for hosting your game on Steam. An engine is not just the heart of a game, but is where your team is going to spend tens of thousands of man-hours. In other words, how quickly and efficiently an engine enables you to work is probably going to have way more effect on your bottom line than how high its fees will be. I don't know that it would make much sense to choose an engine based on anything other than features, workflow, and/or ease-of-use.

I've only gotten them to work once or twice before ... I feel like with distance viewing 3D the centers of the L/R images wouldn't be able to surpass your IPD, I may be wrong. Cross eye viewing is just like viewing popout/toyification in 3D, as long as the image isn't too big or you're too close to it I would think it would be just as easy ... it is for me anyway.
