Just trying to get into this series with 3D Vision. just wondering if many people have had experiences with the first Witcher in 3D. I have it working pretty well, although I am experiencing frame drops with my 580.
One thing that's really doing my head in is the crosshair in The Witcher 1. is there a way to disable this as for some reason I am really sensitive to it? that crosshair is almost a game breaker for me, tiny little dot but my eyes are constantly trying to focus in as it is at the wrong depth.
Thanks for any advice or anything else that could help make these games work better in 3D, I notice there is no helix mod for these games

I haven't gotten to it yet but I think The Witcher 2 is perfect in 3D, and but with the first it seems like you can't disable the cursor via [s]a[/s] the Shader.

I ve try to disable the shader few month ago, found it but the shader disable a lot of other thing in the hud (inventory and other thing) and even in the loading screen.
I use a mod for hud : Extreme immersion mod, wich disable lots of thing in it.

I don't think you can do anything with the crosshair. Are you playing in 3rd person or isometric? I always played in 3rd person, and never found the crosshair distracting enough to be bothered by it.

I played in 3rd person and had the convergence cranked extremely high. I don't remember any issues, but if they were there, they didn't bother me. Thought it looked amazing in 3D. My system can't run Witcher 2 at acceptable levels in 3D though. So it just sits in my Steam account.

2D mouses are a issue that can rarely be done anything about.
Everyone is different and some people can play with 2D mouses well enough [I can but 2d crosshairs are impossible to me]. Best way to play them is find a depth setting that works for you + high convergence. "Convergence tolerance" ussually goes up as you lower depth so the best way to play it is high convergence/low depth. I recorded this video as an example to someone.

thanks guys I will have a play around and see if I can change the settings to make it more bearable. I play in the first person ish mode I think, with mouse as find it easier to control. the game is pretty cumbersome to me but I like it enough to give it a proper go.
The Witcher is pretty good in 3D, but the dryad boobs are just broken. And some noses.
Some fingers are 2 meter long in 3d vision too.
yeah I noticed a few problems with the models, notably the long fingers but this doesn't break it, I tried changing the profile as well but didn't do anything. its taken a while but I'm getting into the game and enjoying it a lot, for an older title, and it does look very nice in 3D. I changed the camera mode to isometric, a bit more cumbersome but its so much better without the cross-hair. hoping the witcher 2 will have less problems.

I must have played in isometric then. Because I'm extremely intolerant to a 2D crosshair. It's an absolute no go for me. So considering I played the game for 50+ hours, it had to have been in whatever mode ditched the crosshair.

that's pretty much it, the first person mode is the crosshair. i use the middle mouse button to free look in isometric, the only really annoying thing is you cant look up! anyway its good enough to play i think, so going to try and finish it.

Technically speaking, it's either isometric or THIRD person I suppose. But I hated isometric. I played in third person and didn't mind the crosshair. As you get a hang of the combat, you should be able to click at the right times without even using the mouse cursor for reference.
There were some objects that would render totally incorrectly at times. Most of the time this was random - you would have problems with one object, but reloading would correct it. Rarely something would be broken in 3D and not correct itself.

I'm tempted to boot it up to see what I used. LOL
I thought I played in 3rd person, but I know I can't deal with 2D crosshairs. Now if we're talking a 2D mouse cursor, that's a minor annoyance I can quickly get over. So if 3rd person is just talking about the mouse cursor, I was probably right the first time (third person). Either way, I definitely cranked the convergence in whichever mode I used. That I do remember. And it looked great.
