I was thinking of going into the 400 series with maybe two 480s but not sure if I have the room on my motherboard to fit them. Was also thinking if I couldn't fit them maybe going with one 580 but I'm sure the processor would bottle neck it. How much of a hassle would it be to upgrade the processor to maybe a Intel i7 and would one of those work on my motherboard?

Your board will not work with intel cpus, you will need to stay with same socket, check the specs on your boards manual at the manufactuer website.
a BIOS update my support more processors then it did originally.
to upgrade to i7, you would need
- New Motherboard
- New Ram DDR3
- New CPU / i7
