New LCD monitors - do they need a seating in time? Plus some questions...

I just bought a Asus VG278HE. 27" is awesome!
But I was dismayed by the amount of cross talk I am seeing. On my old 1st gen 3D LCD there is crosstalk but no where near the amount I am seeing in my new monitor. Sure, the new monitor's colour quality is vastly superior compared to the old with blacks being blacker etc. I had to lower to contrast to 0. FYO I had the Trace Free setting set to 100% but it doesn't seem to do anything.
However
After a while, about 20 minutes of 3D gaming, I realised the cross-talk seemed less pronounced. I increased convergence to 50% and again, after a while the crosstalk seemed to be becoming less pronounced.
Is this actually happening? If so why?
Also I am notice the display driver doesn't say Asus it says something else beginning with A and only goes up to 120hz for 3D (Games allow 144hz though...) Is this normal?

I swapped from my Samsung 2233rz last week. Now I only used them for like 4 days now, but I haven't notice any heavy crosstalk on them.
One thing is valid though;) For the screen to work at "optimum" you need to leave it on for around 5 minutes before starting a 3D game in order for it to "warm-up". This was valid also so the first generation of 3D Vision Monitors.
The monitor out of the box comes with a terrible colour profile. For a quick colour calibration see here:

It gives you some good values. Now, on mine I didn't changed the colours so much, but I did lower the levels a bit to R:90; G:90, B:90. The brightness and contrast I used the review and they definitely give way better results.
I have no idea what Trace Free does to be honest. Even at 0 or 100 I didn't see a difference but then again no idea what to look for;)
3D Vision only supports 100, 110, 120 Hz refresh rates in 3D Mode as it needs to sync with the glasses. 144Hz = 72Hz per eye is not supported as I think the glasses can't run that high.

Yeah that was the idea, but then I said...what's the point of spending 1.200£ on a screen that doesn't offer the real estate of surround and is not even 3D! G-sync is nice, but I can LIVE without it to be honest!
I still cry a bit after that IPS panel thoug;h)) but I would accept a black and white 3D monitor over an IPS one every day:))

I don't really know the reason, maybe the 'liquid' in the liquid crystals warms up and the viscocity gets lower, which improves the switching time. I'm sure there's a technical reason.

Thanks for that link! SOOO much better now. The default settings are a shocking! WTF? You would have thought ASUS would know better. It's almost like the folk who designed the OSD want to force you to look at their work!

While I haven't measured the exact numbers and things, on heavy games there is a performance loss going from 5040 to 5760.
However, on my 2x780Tis if I overclock the GPU frequency from 1060 to 1260 (+200Mhz), I get my performance back.
(OFC at 5040 with +200Mhz I would get even more now:) )
I tested this on DA:I, Witcher3 and a couple of other games that really use the GPUs.
In terms of FPS going from 5040 to 5760 I lose around 5-10 fps in 3D (but overclocking I get it back).
