3d Vision and SLI not working correctly for ASUS rog swift pg278q.
  1 / 6
I have GTX780ti sli on 344.60 and rog pg278q with win7. Both Trine 2 and Diablo 3 show one view in both eyes when activating 3d Vision (with sli disabled 3d works great). Metro Last light appears to work correctly with sli and 3d. Very strange as Trine and Metro use the same compatibility bits? Also here is a video showing how CHROME doesn't work with SLI + 144hz either. Anybody have any ideas or thoughts? Thanks! On further research, it is having 3d + sli active that breaks chrome, either turning off 3d or lowering refresh to 60hz will fix it. See Video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WQQI-gwJ9MA

OMG, please don't scare me. I just ordered 3 of these monitors. Let me ask you, do you guys have the Oculus Rift or any other odd monitor devices? I ask because I had a strange issue with Metro : Last Light. 3D would work without SLI. And SLI would work, no 3D. Together the game would crash at start instantly. Then I thought to unplug the Oculus Rift DK1 (both HDMI and USB) and then it worked. It's a long-shot but maybe worth mentioning.

Oh wow, you're getting 3 for surround? That's...insane, and not in a good way, IMO. There isn't a GPU around that's capable of driving one of these displays in 3D with high detail settings on newer games, even in SLI. You might be better off cancelling the order and going to 1080p screens.

I'll have to second Pirate Guy, 1440p 2d surround is a possibility, but I don't think 1440p 3d surround is going to be doable for most games. I have trouble hitting 60 fps per eye just in plain ole 1440p 3d with GTX 780ti sli. I have tried 1080p surround for Elite Dangerous and I found it to be not very immersive compared to DK2. I get more immersion from my monitor just by putting it closer to my face. I recently picked up a really nice 2-piece mounting arm for my monitor and I currently place the monitor right about where the front edge of my keyboard starts :).

I'm interested to hear if you have the same problem. Thanks!

I'm having huge problems with the lastest drivers running 3D Vision in SLI. I'm also using the "Asus ROG Swift PG278Q" monitor, and also have the DK2. I've tried so many different combinations of installation routines that I've lost count. Currently I'm running driver version 340.52. Any driver after that breaks 3D Vision. Even the 3D Vision test (with the nvidia logo) has both tearing and minor stuttering. If I turn off SLI with the newest drivers, the test sequence is perfect (no tearing or stutter). I've tried to set pre-rendered frames to 1 (in addition to other values) globally in inspector as well, but nothing helps. I've stumbled upon a few other forums, and it seems others are having similar problems with the newest drivers running 3D Vision with SLI. They also have the "Asus ROG Swift PG278Q monitor" like we do. This is unfortunate. I would love to play "COD Advanced Warfare" with the new DHR fix, but it's rather pointless without the optimized SLI profile embedded in the newest drivers.

Thank you VultureX for the link. I just completed the survey form. So let us hope for nvidia to ressolve this issue fast. However, I have this gut feeling that "fast" is a little too optimistic. With a high enough feedback density, perhaps we might see a fix soon. I'm crossing my fingers. :)

After being an NVIDIA only guy since GeForce 8800, I'm kinda used to how they treat their high-end customers now. . .Pretty much like free R&D / beta testers :(

I hear you rowan_u. Truer words have never been spoken. The pricetag on this monitor, including the hardware for utilizing the monitors full potensial in the context of 1440p 3D Vision, is probably not within most peoples budget. So we are possibly only a little fraction of their total client base reporting this technical issue. And like you, I've spent an absurd amount of money throughout the years on nvidias products, that I've reached a point to where I've gotten accustomed to how they treat their customers in this specific enthusiast genre. I don't like it the slightest bit, but I keep buying their high-end products, to later hit a "let down" point. I'm getting more and more frustrated with every driver release they uncover. Tons of different issues, compatibility and stability across many different sections of hardware, interferences in drivers, software. It's like they've completely forgotten how to concrete the pillars of their products by improving updates, filling the gaps so to speak, introducing fancy new features that are basically worthless since they just expand the fundamental issues by incorporating many more complicating factors. Perhaps I should just start to rethink my purchases from now on. Let those old, unhealthy spending habits die hard. :(

It's also such a shame that basically for each game a shader hacker has to make it work properly. If they stop then we are all doomed :( But at 1440p 3D vision really is a blast when it works. It adds a whole new dimension to gaming. It has much better quality than cinema movie 3D. This monitor is really great too in that respect. I bought two 970's so I could have some fun @ 1440p, but now I can only use one card. So I have to skip on the more demanding games for now :( I'm not too fond of the Oculus, although I haven't tried the latest DK2. The first version was kind of low res and I had the idea that I could creater far greater intenser popout effect with the 3d vision. It's such a shame that this isn't better supported

Question on this problem with the monitor and SLI. I have a G-Sync monitor, but not the Swift the ASUS VG248QE. I've found the monitor to be a bit of a pain in the ass. When I have it unused (unchecked in NVidia control panel) it will connect and disconnect every 15 minutes, even while playing games on my projector. When I boot, sometimes it takes over as primary screen, even when it was unchecked. Even the simplest thing, window dragging, is stuttery. Lots of freaky behavior, none of it wanted. I've found things to work a bit better when I disable (uncheck) everything in the control panel except for a single monitor that I'm presently using. Projector if gaming, old Dell for programming, DK2 if I really want to spend time jacking around with monitors and configs. (why in the holy hell did they rotate DK2 to portrait?) If you have other monitors connected it might be worth trying to go single monitor as an experiment. It seems to me that multi-monitor is just broken in current drivers. One other thought- these monitors require DisplayPort. Anybody have an alternate DisplayPort they can try to prove or disprove that as the piece? I think maybe my test disproves DisplayPort, because I can run 3D on recent driver of 344.11.
