Viewsonic PJD6210 Review Impressive!
  3 / 4
I got the cheapest pull-down screen on Amazon ($57 shipped). It's fine for me as I don't have a problem with it swaying or anything. I wanted to foray into 3D on-the-cheap since it's a pretty experimental thing in the home. I will upgrade down the road when 3D Blu-Ray is more widespread and the standards are more defined (even with the 3D standard finalized, there stills seems to be much confusion).

That curved screen in that link looks badass.

Well if you're gonna buy 3 projectors, why not spend more on a supersexy screen than you spent on all 3 projectors? makes perfect sense to me :P

Awesome man! At first I was only mildly impressed since I was kinda used to a 1080p PJ, but after some tweaks in the color/brightness/contrast/nvidia enhancement settings, I'm quite pleased! :) If you want, I can probably jot down my settings for you - of course my settings may not totally apply since it will vary from screen type.

I played some HD videos and trailers. If you want to be impressed by the clarity, try the Toy Story 3 trailer. It may be a native 1024x768 PJ, but it looks really nice definitely looks HD. I was able to set Avatar the game to 1440x1050 and even though it's a compressed resolution, since it renders the game at that res it looks great (no jaggies etc). 3D only works in 1024x768, but it still looks great and in games with AA, it looks wonderful as well. It's on-par with most Xbox and PS3 games resolution since most are rendered slightly under true 720p, but then you get the benefit of AA. :) I was playing Uncharted 2 demo on PS3 last night on my 47" LCD and was actually surprised by how jaggy it was on distant edges. :\

Playing games at 1.33:1 (4:3) aspect ratio is actually really cool. I have been so all about widescreen for so long, but when you have a giant screen, filling it up with the extra vertical pixels is impressive, especially in 3D!

Overall, still very happy with the purchase. I admit it's a kind of "temporary" solution for me for now, but I was initially expecting less from it so I may wait it out a little longer until I upgrade down the road when 3D Blu-Ray/PS3 is commonplace.

Hi Chibi_Chaingun,

After seeing your thread I ended up returning my Optoma HD66 and bought PJD6210-3D projector. I installed CD v1.20 drivers (display+3d) and the projector was detected automatically. But when the projector switches to 120HZ there are bad colors on the display screen for few moments and it takes a while for the image to get stabilized. The 3D looks fine with one problem, the image is kind of shaking every few frames. It may be possible that the projector itself may be faulty or there may be something wrong on the software side. But I don't have any clue how to fix this issue. Do you have any suggestions?

Apart from that this is how i compare it with Optoma Hd66

1. Optoma Hd66 was better in terms of picture color quality. HD66 has better contrast ratio and brightness.
2. Optoma HD66 give larger screen size for same throw distance.

Thanks
Arun

Hey imarun,

Yes I had the same issue of the glitching picture in 3D mode every 10 seconds or so. It was easily remedied. What I did was a factory reset in the projectors menu.

The rainbow color cycling is normal when going into and out of 120hz, though it is weird looking, it's fine.

Hi, i bought a Viewsonic PJD6210-3D Projector, fuhzion 3d ready, i think is a good projector, for games in 3D is perfect, no ghosting, i have played AVATAR with full depht, its awesome, playing without 3d is awesome too, with 72 inches i feel inmmersive in the game.
I think 4:3 aspect is the best for games with large screens, for movies 16:9 is best.
Flatout2 in derby has an awesome popouts effects.
The 1024x768 native resolution is enough for games in 3d, for movies in 2011 ill get a full hd 1080p projector nvidia 3d ready and bluraydisc 3d ready, meanwhile PJD6210-3D is the choice because of price and nvidia 3d ready.

sorry, my english is not very good, im from southamerica, spanish here...

thanks

Thanks for the information.

Before reading your reply, I already did a clean install of the Cd v1.20 after removing all nvidia drivers (using driver sweeper in safe mode after uninstalling from control panel). While i was doing this i saw your reply and also did a factory reset on the projector. Now the problem is gone completely. So either one of those things solved the problem. Thanks for your help.

I also noticed that the ghosting is reduced to almost none on this projector.

I can't say I can detect an ounce of ghosting. Quite remarkable 3D presentation, aside from the dimming which isn't that bad, but definitely noticeable.

Allright, so my 6210 just arrived yesterday.

I was on it pretty much all day yesterday, tried out
every game, 3d video, and photo I have.

Blown away, there is literally ZERO ghosting. It's unbelievable,
truly a sight to behold.

Yes, the res. is 1024.768 which at first I thought would bother
me, but after using it I can say in 3d it's no big deal at all !

I'll take the 100" screen with 0 ghosting at a lower res
than a 22 or 23" screen with high res and ghosting... seriously
this projector rocks.

Geoforms blew both me and my wife away. It's literally THE
coolest thing I've seen to date in 3d. The animation
literally appears to be hovering several FEET out into the
room... and clear as day at that, it's the closest thing
one can come to hallucinating without taking drugs. What a trip..!

Every game I've tried looks fantastic, can't say I've come
across any issues yet. Mine does the same thing where
it'll go crazy with colors briefly, but I'm pretty sure it's
just the color wheel getting up to speed.

Overall.. EXTREMELY IMPRESSED !!! Love the zero
ghosting, can't wait to try more games and movies
on it !!

Wow! I am glad you enjoy it! I was similarly hesitant about 1024x768, but was also relieved and impressed once I put it through the motions. I'm glad everyone is reporting on their findings. Previously this PJ had almost ZERO impressions, now people will have some good info.

HI Chibi_Chaingun,

Did you change any of the default color setting to make picture look better? I would really appreciate if you could tell me your color settings. I have everything at default settings so i was wondering if it is possible to improve the picture quality.

Thanks
Arun
