I cant get Thief 2 to render in stereo with the 3d vision glasses.
Everything else (other games, etc) is working fine for me.
I can enable stereo, and the onscreen configuration shows. But there is no difference to the rendered image when changing the depth.
The nvidia drivers state that stereo support for thief 2 is "good" and state that:
Mixed 2D and 3D objects in Pop-up or HUD,
Weapon place beyond walls when close to the walls.
Sky is at zero depth.
Crosshair is 2D, HUD items at wrong depth.
It seems that everything effectively is at zero depth... any ideas anyone?
I have the same problem on Zalman stereo 22' monitor, looking for solution.
In fact, it somehow renders part of the image - on screen text and health shields (by Ctrl-T I can see interlaced "Compass" word, health shields and Laser Sight crosshair)
The same is in Thief Gold!
All those weird things come with Thief widescreen patch to get native 's 1680x1050 (maybe this is the key?)

I just checked my old notes and found that Thief 1 and 2 are both DirectX6 programs so I think you guys are out of luck unless they updated it to DX8 or something. Did they? That's an old game, you must have loved it. I'll have to play it more someday.
I'm guessing that the reason nvidia's database says it works is because it used to work with the old drivers and hardware and OS. My notes are from using a win98 setup with a GeForce4 and driver version 30.87. My notes also say it didn't work with the 56.64 drivers. It has been drilled into me over and over that the phrase "be sure to use the latest drivers for your video card" is not always the right thing to do. It makes some games not work right in s3d. So it's nvidia's fault for not updating their list or not specifying which hardware/driver combos work with which games. Don't get me wrong. I love nvidia for giving us the ability to play so many games in s3d but I have to admit that they've been negligent about many things and I know that alot of people feel the same way.
As far as iZ3D goes, they say their driver is only for DX8 and 9 games so that's why it doesn't work with thief or thief 2.
There's a chance it might work with winXP using win98 compatablility mode but that doesn't help you guys either so sorry I can't really help you.
Have fun playing some other games though.
There's a game called "Stolen". It's a sneaker-type game. It didn't work in s3d for me with winXP but it might work for you with the 3d-vision. I suggest looking to see if there's a demo you can download and test or just buy it off ebay for $7 after shipping (just checked). It's more of a high-tech sneaker instead of an archer-thief but maybe you can be happy with that.

If you guys liked Thief 1 and 2, try 3. I haven't played these games much but I just tried 3 recently and it seems pretty similar.
Not to hijack this thread, but has anyone had any luck with thief 3 - deadly shadows? Bloom must be off or else 3d doesn't work right, but even with bloom off it still has problems. It doesn't work well with any driver I tried on winXP-SP3 with a geforce GTX 7800. What happens is that 3d is fine when you're not moving but when you move the mouse, the whole screen changes depth. Then when you stop moving, 3d is good again. It's like the game is doing some post-processing during the turning that you do and that causes a change in depth. The only thing like that I can think of is like in Xblades (check out the demo) that has a motion blur option when you move the mouse/camera. It's a cool effect but I prefer to play without it.
This game should have a console that you might be able to tweak values with. Please post if you know anything about this.
Later.
edit:
My hunch was right about motion-blur. You have to disable it for good 3d. Read more details about it if you want in the new topic about running Thief 3 in 3d.
Also, another website I looked at says that there's no way for you to open the console. I wish the game-makers didn't do that. Maybe there's a way they don't know about. Anyway...

Trying to get Thief 2 and System Shock 2 to work in 3D here. I can get the games to run in 120 Hz (using DDFix and the widescreen fix) just fine but as soon as I enable stereoscopic 3D in the nvidia control panel, the games crash at the point where they fire up the 3D engine (i.e. after you click new game and the loading bar reaches 100%). Switch 3D off, run the game again, and everything is working as normal.
...but from the first post it seems the games should at least run with 3D vision enabled, even if the 3D effects aren't working.
Damn I would love to play these two games in 3D. I've also tried the iZ3D driver and it doesn't realize a 3D app has started up, so it just does nothing, no effect.

Just looking through the compatibility list and Thief, Thief Gold, Thief 2 and System Shock 2 are ALL listed as working with 3D Vision. How annoying.

Ya, i tried "Stolen" and sadly it does not work with 3d vision, so needless to say i still have not finnished it lol

Damn I would love to play these two games in 3D. I've also tried the iZ3D driver and it doesn't realize a 3D app has started up, so it just does nothing, no effect.
