The problem in ID engine is that is capped at 60fps. 60fps/2 = 30 fps per eye => some sync issues
Amnesia games have the ability to say unlimited FPS:) If your GPu is powerful enough to render constantly 120fps you get 60fps per eye => no eye-sync issue (or better said not perceivable)
Damn! That's a PRETTY GOOD NEWS!!! Thanks a lot, Helifax!

Looking forward and really hoping for a fix guys, game is great,immersive with enough essence of agony and scariness...

Good news: I managed to fix some more things:
Semi-good news: The shadows use an approximation value and might look weird at some angles.... (no idea why currently)
bad news: The game JUST LOVES to generate shaders over and over and over... so I need a way to modify (automatically) all the shaders of one type... (It generates new shaders the further you go in-game)...
When it works it looks very good... when it doesn't...well....

Big thanks to Mike_ar69 & DarkStarSword !!! They helped me figuring out how to fix those damn shadows/reflections/refractions and etc.
I also had to work a bit more on the wrapper as the game likes to generate new shaders;)) So, I had to find an "universal" way to fix some of the shaders!
I have updated the main page and added quite a few screenshots! GO CHECK THEM OUT ^_^
Looking forward to see what you guys have to say;)

Made some progress with fixing:
- Added SLI support (although it's hard to say how much it adds to performance, but at least it works correctly in SLI mode. GPU usage is 99% on both cards.. yet I have to determine if this translates into FPS)
- Added Surround support. -> Needed different types of stereo conversion/factor is different for 3D surround.
- FOV breaks the shadows is different than default! Looking into fixing this one.
- Currently the fix has 2 convergence settings: 1. for roaming; 2. for picking objects or when objects get to close to camera.
- Investigating possibility to add automatic convergence change based on object's position... Might break some geometry or effects though (when auto-convergence is applied).
As you can see progress is made;) Not, yet there for a release though, but pretty damn close;)
- Eye sync might be an issue if you cannot maintain a high framerate... (Looking into what I can do about it)
Cheers,
Helifax

Thank you for your work helifax. This is very much appreciated.
I can't wait to play SOMA but since I started playing games in 3D vision, I cannot go back to normal 3D anymore. Especially with this kind of games, 3D is a must. It adds so much to the immersion that I really cannot understand, why developers ommit 3D support. Goes beyond me...

I'm very thankful for all the 3D patches but as stated above with very little help from the game developers excellent 3D patches are created.
Within two to three most games have a working beta patch.
Just Amazing !!!!!!!!!!!!!

SOMA - 3D Vision Patch - v.3.30 Beta
====================================
A fix made by:
- Helifax – 3D Vision wrapper code, shader fixing and making the fix.
- Mike_ar69 – helping with shaders correction code.
- DarkStarSword– helping with shaders correction code.
This fix will address the following:
- 3D Vision support
- SLI support
- 3D Vision Surround support
- Single GPU or SLI 3D Vision support
- Single GPU or SLI 3D Vision Surround support
Fixed:
- Enabled 3D Vision rendering. - Shadows and lighting. - Haloes - SSAO & BLOOM. - Added additional convergence preset on middle mouse button that is required and viewing objects close to the camera (It acts as a toggle). Can be changed from the ini file under [Alternative_3D_Settings] section.
Known Issues:
- Some shadows might render incorrectly on some walls at extreme viewing angles. - Some type of glass materials might render incorrectly at some viewing angles. - Depth of field will render the image as 2D. Can’t be disabled from options. This is seen in some cutscenes. No difference between Low and High presets. - Maintaining a HIGH FPS is required to avoid eye-sync issues!!!
====================================
Install:
====================================
1. Before installing the wrapper:
- Start the game and set all your settings like resolution, rendering options and FOV. Be sure to set REFRESH rate to 120Hz.
Note: Remember the FOV value you have selected!!!
- Start a new game, save after the intro and exit the game. - Navigate to “My Documents -> My Games -> Soma -> Main”. - Find the “_user_settings.cfg” file and open it. - Change <Engine LimitFPS="true" to <Engine LimitFPS="false" - Save the file.
====================================
2. Install the wrapper:
- Copy all the Fix files next to the game .exe file. (Ex: copy everything in “D:\Steam\steamapps\common\SOMA”)
- Set the game to run as Administrator always! This can be done by selecting Soma.exe->Properties->Compatibility, as shown below:
Select “Run this program as an administrator” and click OK.
====================================
3. Configuring the wrapper:
====================================
3.1. Shadows & Lighting correction:
- Open the “3DVisionWrapper.ini” file and find this section (at the end of the file)
| Surround correction
| This is a WILD card meaning is sent to ALL shaders. Must be LAST in the order
| .w = 1.0 -> Surround correction
| .z = 1.0 -> Auto-convergence. Might break some geometry rendering.
| .y = ??? -> Current FOV as set in-game!!!
ShaderProgram|(-1.0, -1.0, 88.0, 0.0, 0.0)
- Change the above value of 88.0 to the new FOV you have set in-game!!!
- Save the file.
Note: It is possible that after you restart the game the shadows to still look incorrect. In order to fix this, change the FOV value in-game by 1 until everything lines up correctly! For example a value of 110.0 FOV in the ini file might correspond to 112 FOV in-game. This is due to floating numbers precision error.
====================================
3.2. 3D Vision Surround correction
- Open the “3DVisionWrapper.ini” file and find this section (at the end of the file)
| Surround correction
| This is a WILD card meaning is sent to ALL shaders. Must be LAST in the order
| .w = 1.0 -> Surround correction
| .z = 1.0 -> Auto-convergence. Might break some geometry rendering.
| .y = ??? -> Current FOV as set in-game!!!
ShaderProgram|(-1.0, -1.0, 88.0, 0.0, 0.0)
- Change the last number (.w component) to 1.0.
- Save the file
Note: In 3D Surround a different correction factor is required.
====================================
3.3. Automatic convergence setting:
This is experimental. For BEST experience leave it disabled as it can break rendering of effects, geometry etc. Instead use the additional convergence toggle on Middle Mouse button.
This can be toggled by setting .z=1.0 in the above ShaderProgram().
====================================
Uninstall:
====================================
- Run "Uninstall.bat" file
If you have any issues in running the fix or would like to discuss something related to it please ask here:)
Happy gaming;)
