Nvidia mods/techs HELP PLEASE with 3D Vision 2 / G-sync kit / Windows 8.1 x64 / NCP
OK, my system specs: ASROCK z87m OC formula motherboard with i7 4770k WIndows 8.1 x64 GTX 780 ti SLI Asus 24" 248 24" monitor w/gsync self install kit)DP cable used) 16gb ram 840 EVO SSD The issue. I cannot get the 3d setup wizard in Nvidia control panel to work correctly. Or any of the 3d supported games for that matter. When I try to set it up, it tells me gsync must be disabled(and it does it automatically supposedly)...........fine, but when I go through the screens/steps, the display works........but as soon as I get to the glasses part where it syncs up with them, the glasses activate and the screen goes blank with the "Unsupported input detected"(I also get "this application is not rated by Nvidia corp: Unknown) message across my monitor as the screen goes black...........so I alt tab out and try again and it just continues to do that. Glasses are fully charged, bright green light on 3d sensor emitter is on(and only like a foot away from me). What is the issue here?!?!??! And beyond that, any time I try to activate a 3d vision supported game like Trine 2 etc, it does the same thing, game hangs......."unsupported input device" then black/game crash. THe only game I can get to work that Ive tried so far is Crysis 3. I have no "accessory programs" installed like GFE or Precision X. just the latest 337.88 WHQL drivers installed and my games and 8.1 x64 literally. Even Nvidia control panel hangs occasionally when I try to change settings like gsync on or off, or if i try to do global vertical sync changes etc(Yes I know monitor needs to run at 120hz, and not 144hz for 3d) This is getting very frustrating.......spent a ton of money on Nvidia products, video cards, g sync, 3d vision etc, and it all runs like garbage. Of course, no direct phone # tech line for any of it...........

Try a test install of W7 and see if it works then. If it doesn't, you have a defective product somewhere in your chain, but I doubt it and think it is W8.1 playing up.

As Koldur suggests, 8.1 could very well be your culprit. Whenever I have odd problems with 3D Vision, the first thing I do is reinstall the drivers. I recommend using DDU (Direct Driver Uninstaller) https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/550192/geforce-drivers/wagnard-tools-ddu-gmp-tdr-manupulator-updated-07-10-14-/

Lots of people have had problems with 8.1, though this isn't an issue we've seen before. Windows 7 or 8 are both fine. Worth doing the downgrade to save yourself from problems later, but I'm not sure it'll fix this particular problem. Tried disabling gsync manually?

K, update: Windows 7 x64 solved the issue with the 3d setup wizard, works perfectly now, shows the slide show with all the gaming 3d screen shots etc........haven't installed all my games back on, but now no freezes or odd issues or screen going blank etc etc................wtf is up with 8.1 x64 exactly?

I cannot answer why 8.1 is troublesome with Nvidia 3D, but it unfortunately is what it is. I am glad you at least got it sorted for now and have a working setup, especially after throwing that much money at it.
