Guide: How to Tweak Global/Base Profile Settings(Disable Info Text,Fix Profile Saving Issues,Etc)WIP

I'll clean this up a bit when I get a chance, it's a basic guide for useful Profile Global/Base Profile Tweaks that I've been playing with lately ... :) There's two version of this Guide, one using GeForce 3D Profile Manager and another using NVIDIA Inspector(Next Post]) ... use whichever one you're more comfortable using, as far as I know they both work for the Settings I've outlined in this Guide so far... Run GeForce 3D Profile Manager(Agree to Terms of Use) and click 'Export SLI Profiles' and Save NVIDIA Profiles.txt

[If you can't Import an unedited/freshly dumped NVIDIA Profiles.txt at this point Delete "C:\ProgramData\NVIDIA Corporation\Drs\nvdrssel.bin"... Cmd /c Del "C:\ProgramData\NVIDIA Corporation\Drs\nvdrssel.bin"&Pause at the Run Prompt(Win+R)]

Open NVIDIA Profiles.txt in a text editor like Notepad++, Scroll down(or Ctrl+F) to the 'Base Profile' section, which should look something like this:

Profile "Base Profile"
ShowOn All
ProfileType Global
Setting ID_0x80303a19 = 0x00000001
Setting ID_0x80857a28 = 0x00000001
Setting ID_0x809d5f60 = 0x00000001
EndProfile

You're going to add new Setting(s) in somewhere after the 'ProfileType Global' line and before the 'EndProfile' line, like so:

Profile "Base Profile"

Now Save NVIDIA Profiles.txt, click 'Import SLI Profiles' in GeForce 3D Profile Manager and import NVIDIA Profile.txt. Enjoy! :)

Settings and Effects:

Disable2DD: Adding this line to the Base Profile disables Compatibility Mode on Startup, you can still toggle Compatibility Mode On by pressing Ctrl+Alt+F11, but Compatibility Mode will be disabled by default.

Setting ID_0x709adadd = 0x00000001 // Disable2DD
MysteryStereoSetting: Adding this line to the Base Profile should fix the Profile Saving issues, as well as older games will use their respective Profiles*. Also adding this makes it unnecessary to add fixed games to the "3D-Hub Player" Profile.

StereoMemoEnabled: Adding this line to the Base Profile will Disable the Green Info/StereoMemo text on all games with Profiles. Failed to import NVIDIA Profile.txt, used NVIDIA Inspector but was unable to add: Setting ID_0x707f4b45 = 0x00000000 // StereoMemoEnabled it was already defaulting to 0 so nothing changed in base profile. Finally managed to save convergence in Pinball Arcade.

Failed to import with GeForce 3D Profile Manager? Try exporting and then reimporting the NVIDIA Profiles, if that works then the text editor might not be able to handle some of the characters(in newer Profiles like 3D-Hub Player and CM Profiles) when saving, there may be an error in the settings that were added or there may be multiple profiles with the same exe. When using NVIDIA Inspector with DarkStarSword's update XML you might have to set the setting to something else, like 1 and hit Apply and then set it to 0 and hit Apply again, I'll be getting to that part of the guide later ... just some ideas off the top of my head. :)

Try just Exporting and the Importing without editing, if that's working properly then it's a file error ... try opening and just saving the file in whatever text editor you're using, I highly suggest Notepad++, and then Importing ... if that fails it's the text editor not being able to handle the Unicode(?) characters, if not then it's an editing error.

Nvidia has a reg file named oglstreg.reg. Any guesses as to what it's for? I think oglstreg.reg might be left over from legacy drivers prior to moving profiles. On page 46 of this pdf, it says http://www.nvidia.com/content/nvision2008/tech_presentations/Game_Developer_Track/NVISION08-3D_Stereo.pdf . Configuration is saved to HKLM\Software\NVIDIACorporation\Global\Stereo3D\GameConfigs\<gameexe name -Add DWORD entry StereoTextureEnable: 1 -Add DWORD entry StereoCutoff: 1 . These are optimal values for games that do not render directly into backbuffer. We will likely make them default in the future. What I'm really wondering, is if there is something that we can add to the Red Faction profile to make it work? RF is dx8, but so is Blood Omen, Pariah and a few others and they work in 3D. Simply adding RF to these profiles didn't change anything. Just like always, the emitter lights up but only a single image is shown.

I've spent hours trying to get Red Faction to render in Stereo, it just bugs the pi$$ out of me that it's mono. I think it bugs bo3b just as much.

There are 3 StereoTextureEnable that I see in oglstreg.reg "StereoTextureEnable"=dword:00000001 "StereoTextureEnable"=dword:0000002b "StereoTextureEnable"=dword:00000023 "StereoCutoff"=dword:00000001 TsaebehT if you have Red Faction can you try these?
There are 3 StereoTextureEnable that I see in oglstreg.reg

Sorry I'm really not sure what's going on here, it's worked pretty flawlessly for me. Can you both attach your freshly dumped unedited NVIDIA Profiles.txt to your posts above so I can try to figure out what's causing them to fail? Just rename them to something like NVIDIA Profiles.txt.jpg and attach them using the paperclip icon on the upper-right corner of your posts ... and what Drivers are you using? You can just edit/add to the posts above. To use DarkStarSwords updated XML click Raw on his GitHub and save as CustomSettingNames_en-EN.xml where your NVIDIA Inspector EXE is located, probably a good idea to back up or rename your existing CustomSettingNames_en-EN.xml. I'll try to get to the NVIDIA Inspector version of the guide as soon as I can.
